Interview with Tim Reid of “Miss Cleo: Her Rise and Fall” on Lifetime by Suzanne 8/6/24

This is my second one-on-one interview with actor/director/producer Tim Reid; he’s always so fun and interesting to speak with. He knows a lot about history, black history, and more, as well as the entertainment industry.  He directs this movie, so it was great to get his perspective on it, and on Miss Cleo herself. If you remember her, or even if you just like to watch biopics, you should definitely watch it because it’s fascinating, and you’ll probably learn a lot.

But her challenges don’t end there and when the network faces allegations of fraud and deception, they turn their sights on Miss Cleo.  For the first time ever, Miss Cleo’s side of the story will finally be told.

Known for her work during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s with the Psychic Readers Network, this professional telephone and television psychic Youree Dell Harris (Allen) was launched into the pop culture zeitgeist when the network’s infomercials took off, making her a cult icon as the TV persona Miss Cleo.  Fondly remembered for donning a colorful turban in a candlelit room, Miss Cleo dutifully listened to callers detailing the most intimate details of their lives. Miss Cleo ultimately became the face of the Psychic Readers Network, earning the trust and loyalty for those that called her.  Years later, Harris’ world was turned upside down with complaints that the Psychic Readers Network was fraudulent and spread false advertising. Facing angry fans, Harris was forced to defend her reputation to clear her name and escape financial devastation.

Miss Cleo: Her Rise and Fall also stars Daphne Maxwell Reid, Cocoa Brown, Dwayne Boyd, Towanda Braxton, Jaida Standberry, Marley Taylor, Amelia Young, Stevie Baggs Jr., and Leslie Black.  Miss Cleo: Her Rise and Fall is produced by Hillionaire Productions for Lifetime and produced by Jami McCoy-Lankford and Samone Norsworthy, Anthony Standberry, Ahmed Hussain and Jami McCoy-Lankford serve as executive producers and William J. Cone serves as consulting producer. Tim Reid directs a screenplay by Camara Davis.

Call Me Miss Cleo the documentary chronicles the icons rise, fall, and reinvention of the ’90s TV psychic Miss Cleo.  Known for her larger-than-life persona and memorable accent, Miss Cleo, born Youree Dell Harris, garnered a nationwide cult following on the Psychic Readers Network, a popular telephone hotline that later came under fire for its alleged deceptive practices. Featuring interviews with celebrities and those closest to the self-proclaimed voodoo priestess, the film explores the many layers behind a complicated and charismatic figure. Call Me Miss Actor/Director/Producer Tim Reid (from his Facebook page)Cleo was produced by Gunpowder & Sky for HBO Max.  Van Toffler, Floris Bauer, Barry Barclay, Anne Loder, Jennifer O’Connell, and Lizzie Fox serve as executive producers.  The documentary is directed by Celia Aniskovich and Jennifer Brea.

Interview with Trent Dawson of “As The World Turns” on CBS by Suzanne 8/5/24

I really enjoyed this interview with Trent. I just loved his character on “As The World Turns,” where he played Henry Coleman. Bold & The Beautiful Updates

B&B logo

Update written by Brenda

At Il Giardino, R.J. tells Katie that Luna found Tom’s backpack in her apartment and that inside the backpack were letters from Tom to Poppy claiming that Tom was Luna’s biological father. Katie wonders if Poppy is capable of murder.

Poppy returns to the apartment so that they can clear things up. Luna wants to know how the backpack got into their apartment. Poppy says she wants to know too and repeats that she had nothing to do with the deaths at Il Giardino.

At Bill’s house, Bill is less than enthusiastic about a huge contract that Liam has brought to him. Bill admits that he is concerned about Poppy.

Sheila massages Deacons shoulders and observes that he seems especially stressed. He says business has to pick up because it has been slow since Tom and Hollis died. She says it will. She asks what Katie asked him. He says he isn’t sure what she was getting at, but it was about Hollis and Tom’s deaths, and it had something to do with the new lady in Bill Spencer’s life.

At Bill’s house, Liam wonders what happened with Poppy between this morning and now. Bill isn’t sure, but he can tell that something is troubling Poppy.

At Il Giardino, Sheila wonders what about Poppy. Deacon says he gets the feeling that Katie is not a fan. Sheila says Bill’s ex is probably jealous. Deacon doesn’t know about that, but he does know that they aren’t the only ones wondering what really happened. Sheila blames herself again for not listening to Hollis that night because the answers they’re looking for could have been in Tom’s backpack.

At the apartment, Luna says the backpack didn’t appear out of thin air. Poppy says she doesn’t understand it either, but it wasn’t her; she had nothing to do with it.

At Il Giardino’s patio bar, Katie asks R.J. if Poppy killed Tom and Hollis. R.J. can’t imagine that Poppy did it. Katie admits that it’s a terrible accusation but asks who else would have wanted them dead. R.J. tells Katie that Poppy met with Tom the night that he died.

Liam tells Bill that since he and Poppy are happy together, it means that whatever is going on with her has nothing to do with him. Bill wishes Poppy felt like she could confide in him. Liam is certain that eventually Poppy will come to him with it, but they were both thrust into this new life together at warp speed. Bill says he isn’t having a problem adjusting to it. Liam says having a daughter has softened Bill – in a good way. Bill says having Poppy and Luna in his world has enriched his life in ways that he could never have imagined. He tells Liam to give it some time and he, Wyatt and Will are going to feel the same way.

In the office at Il Giardino, Sheila recalls how adamant Hollis was about showing her Tom’s backpack. Deacon thinks Hollis must have thought Tom’s death wasn’t an accident. Sheila says she just wanted that filthy thing out of there, and now it’s long gone, along with any clues that might have been inside it. She says that is on her.

At the apartment, Luna presses Poppy to explain how Tom’s backpack got there. Poppy repeats that it wasn’t her. She says Luna knows her better than anyone and asks her to believe that she would never hurt anyone, let alone take a life. Luna says she believes it wasn’t Poppy.

At the Il Giardino patio, R.J. tells Katie that Poppy said something to Luna about taking matters into her own hands. Katie concludes that Poppy had motive and opportunity, and she is a known drug user, and now two men are dead. R.J. says they overdosed. Katie asks what if they didn’t know they were ingesting drugs. What if it was intentional cold-blooded murder? Katie asks R.J. if he saw any evidence of drugs in Tom’s backpack. He says he didn’t look. He doesn’t see how Poppy would need to eliminate Tom when she is certain that Bill is Luna’s father. He tells his aunt that they can’t accuse people without facts. She agrees and says it could all be a horrible coincidence, but the more she hears, the less she believes that is the case. R.J.’s pizza arrives. He tells Katie to be careful with the information she has. She says she will. R.J. leaves. Deacon and Sheila come out to the patio. Sheila says Deacon told her that Katie had questions about Tom and Hollis. Sheila says she was the last person to see Hollis alive. Katie asks if Hollis said anything about Tom. Sheila said Hollis wanted her to see Tom’s backpack. Katie excitedly asks if Sheila saw the backpack. Sheila wants to know why Katie is so interested in Tom’s belongings. Katie says two men are dead because of drug overdose. Sheila says Tom never did drugs while he was working there. Deacon says Tom had a history of drug use, but he was transparent about it, and he was clean. Katie asks about Hollis. Sheila says Hollis never did drugs in his life. Deacon says Hollis barely ever drank. Katie wonders how he died of an overdose. Sheila says they keep asking the same question. Deacon says everything seems off since their deaths, even the place doesn’t feel the same. He says they weren’t just employees; they were friends. Katie says she is sorry for their loss. Sheila asks if Katie knew Hollis and Tom well. Katie says she knew Hollis a little bit. She said Tom lived an interesting life. Deacon says Tom went from rock star to the streets and back again. He says Tom was a real mensch. Katie says it’s too bad that they both died so suddenly. Sheila says it’s heartbreaking. She says if Katie is wondering about Tom’s backpack, it’s probably in a landfill. Deacon says he is sure Katie has a lot of questions just as he does, but he has to get back to work. Sheila and Deacon leave Katie at the bar. Katie calls Chief Baker and says she thinks she has evidence regarding the deaths at Il Giardino.

At Bill’s house, Bill tells Liam that in his book, Poppy can do no wrong. Liam says Bill has got it bad. Bill says Poppy id beautiful, warm, loving, and patient. Liam says patience is the one she will need the most. Bill protests that he is the new easygoing version of himself. Liam says he is happy that Poppy and Luna got to skip ahead to the chill Bill. Bill says they deserve it. They all deserve it. He couldn’t do it without his boys. Liam says he won’t have to. They all support him and want what’s best for everyone. Bill says the best is yet to come.

At Poppy and Luna’s apartment, Poppy says they should go back to Bill’s. Luna says she is getting an eerie feeling just being there. Poppy says Luna doesn’t have to go back to the apartment again. She says that’s their past and Bill is their future.

Katie rushes into Bill’s house. Bill says he is glad she is there because he’s been wanting to talk to her about Poppy. She says she wants to talk to him about Poppy too. She says she has to listen to what she has to say because his life could depend on it.

Deacon is in the office at Il Giardino. Sheila brings him a bowl of her grandmother’s recipe chicken stew guaranteed to cure stress and ease a worried mind. He takes a big bite and chokes on it, gasping that it is too spicy. Sheila brings him milk and apologizes, saying her father liked it spicy. When he recovers, he says he is coming to terms with the fact that Tom and Hollis are not coming back. Sheila says no, but there is an open investigation and maybe someone will find out why they aren’t with them any longer and justice will be served if there was foul play. Deacon observes that Katie seemed very interested in the case. Sheila says she doesn’t quite understand why and asks if Deacon does. He doesn’t either, but all her questions lead to Bill’s new girlfriend.

At Bill’s house, Katie tells Bill that he thinks he could be in trouble. She says she just found out something disturbing. Bill tells Katie to leave Poppy alone. Katie tells Bill not to shut her down because what she has to say is important. He says he already knows. She says she doesn’t think he understands what he has gotten himself into. She says this is serious. She says she is not trying to intimidate his girlfriend or hurt her feelings, but she thinks his life could be in jeopardy. She says she thinks his life could be in danger because of Poppy. He asks her what she is talking about. Katie says Tom Starr played at the music festival the night Bill met Poppy and Luna was supposedly conceived. She says she knows about Poppy’s mints that are really drugs. Bill interjects that Poppy doesn’t do drugs anymore and asks where Katie is going with this. Katie says Tom showed up again with a backpack full of letters claiming to be Luna’s father. Bill says he knows; Poppy told him. Katie says Poppy saw Tom the night he died, shortly before he collapsed onstage, and asks if he doesn’t think that’s strange. He says he thinks she is being strange. Katie asks him why Poppy waited decades to do a paternity test and then when they did get the test they immediately moved in and cashed in on the Spencer empire. She speculates that Tom Starr resurfaced and continued to claim to be Luna’s father, Poppy met with him and suddenly he died, then Hollis had Tom’s backpack, read the letters, and became a liability, but before he could say anything he overdosed too, on the same drugs that killed Tom.

Poppy enters Bill’s house and hears Katie tell Bill two men are dead, and his life could be in jeopardy. She says Poppy is dangerous. Bill asks her what she is saying. He asks her if she thinks Poppy is a murderer. She says, “Yes.”

Ridge and Brooke are back in Los Angeles and thrilled that the Brooke’s Bedroom social media drop has created so many orders.

Liam is happy that Bill is happy with Poppy. Katie goes to Il Giordino and asks Deacon seemingly random questions about Poppy.

Luna is freaked out about Tom’s bag being in their apartment and the letters it contains. Poppy says she doesn’t know how it got there. Poppy tells Luna to trust her and not to tell anyone about it. As soon as Poppy leaves, Luna asks R.J. to come over and she shows him the backpack and the letters. R.J. tells Katie about the backpack, the letters, and the fact that Tom thought he was Luna’s father. Katie concludes that Poppy killed Tom and Hollis.

Bold & The Beautiful Updates

Update written by Brenda

At the Forrester creations, Katie asks Brooke if Monte Carlo was as exciting and glamorous as it looks in the pictures. Brooke says yes, and that they had the best time. Carter says it was a successful time and that the social media drop was a hit. R.J. says it still is and that he and Hope are thrilled for Brooke. Brooke says she saw Hope when she got home and that Donna has been blowing up her phone. Ridge says Brooke’s Bedroom is back and better than ever.

At Bill’s house, Liam tells Bill that it’s great that Will is back in Los Angeles. Bill says the timing could have been better and explains that Will walked in on him and Poppy in the bedroom. Liam feels sorry for Will. Bill says that if that weren’t bad enough, Luna came home, and he asked Will to hug his new sister. Liam thinks that was a bit much. Bill is certain that Will will come to love Poppy and Luna once he gets to know them. Bill thinks he is lucky to have those two remarkable women in his life.

At their apartment, Luna tells Poppy that she still can’t believe Tom’s backpack with all his stuff in it is in their apartment. Poppy swears that she has no idea how it got there. Luns asks if she understands correctly that Tom harassed Poppy with letters and claims of being Luna’s father for Luna’s entire life. Poppy says yes and adds that Bill knows about it and understands. She says she needs Luna to understand too.

At Forrester, R.J. and Carter are still looking at their phones watching Brookes Bedroom trending on social media. Ridge tells Carter that they need to ramp up their production. Carter says it’s already in the works with new target dates set. Ridge asks if they missed anything while they were gone. Carter observes that they weren’t gone very long. Brooke asks if there has been any news about the deaths at Il Giordino.

At Il Giordino, Deacon talks to a reporter on the phone. He asks the person to let their readers know that Il Giordino has been given the all-clear. He assures the person that Il Giordino will survive this dark chapter. He says the hardest part was losing two friends and opines that the reporter should be asking why it happened.

At Bill’s house, Liam asks where Will is. Bill says Will is staying with his mom. Liam concludes that Will must not have felt welcome at Bill’s place. Bill says he thinks it will take a little time for Will to accept that he has a sister. Liam adds that Will must also accept that his sister’s mom lives with Bill instead of his own mother.

At their apartment, Poppy tells Luna that she always felt that Bill was her father, but it was such a relief to find out for sure and eliminate the lingering concern that Tom might have been right. Luna asks Poppy if she knew that Tom was in Los Angeles or that he was working at Il Giordino. Poppy tells her that she and Bill went there on a date and Tom accidentally spilled water on them. She says he also delivered a pizza to the house. Luna remembers Poppy being upset and says that it makes sense now. She remembers seeing a flyer on the pizza box advertising a concert. Poppy says that’s right, and that’s when she decided to take matters into her own hands. Luna asks her mother just what she means by that.

At Forrester, Carter makes a phone call and reports that there is nothing new on the Il Giordino case. Brooke asks if the police think the deaths were accidental. Carter says they’re investigating all possibilities. Ridge says not all possibilities; they released Sheila. R.J. thinks it must have been Sheila. Katie thinks the police need to find out who is responsible for Tom and Hollis’s deaths soon; before someone else gets hurt. Carter says it may have been accidental. Katie says they should all be on guard until they know for sure. Katie says she needs to be someplace and leaves.

St Bill’s house, Liam tells Bill that Will is resilient and he’ll come around. Bill says Will is going to have to because he doesn’t intend to hide how much he is enjoying his new life with Poppy and Luna. Liam observes that having a daughter has changed Bill. Bill agrees. Liam says it’s nice to see his father happy. Bill says it is all thanks to Poppy.

At the apartment, Luna repeats that Poppy said she was taking matters into her own hands. Poppy clarifies she meant stopping him from spreading lies, not killing him! She says she told Tom that he had to stop sending letters and insisting that he was Luna’s father. She confirms to Luna that the conversation happened the same night that Tom died. Luna wonders why Poppy never told her about it. Poppy says she was protecting Luna. She didn’t want to burden Luna with the knowledge that Tom was out there, but now this backpack is mysteriously in their apartment. She speculates that Tom brought it in when everyone else was moving out, possibly wanting Luna to find it. She says all she knows for certain is that Bill is Luna’s father. Luna observes that the only person who could question that is dead. Poppy insists she had nothing to do with Tom’s death or the other man’s either. Poppy says Luna must trust and believe in her mother. She says they need to get through this like they always do. Poppy heads out to go to Bill’s house while Luna stays at the apartment.

Katie charges into Il Giordino and tells Deacon that she has questions about the deaths that happened there.

At Forrester, Brooke wonders if anyone else thought Katie seemed “off.” Carter goes to check on Katie. R.J. receives a text from Luna and says he has to leave too. Ridge tells R.J. not to forget to pick up their pizza. After R.J. exits, Ridge asks Brooke if she is leaving too. She says she is exactly where she is supposed to be.

At Il Giordino, Deacon asks Katie what she wants to know. She offers her condolences for the loss of his friends and then mentions Sheila being questioned and released. He says if she is there to accuse his wife, she can leave. She says no, she is wondering about Bill’s new girlfriend, Poppy.

Poppy goes to Bill’s house. She tells him that she has missed him. He says he has missed her too and asks how things are going at the apartment.

R.J. arrives at the apartment and sees that Luna is visibly shaken. He asks if he did something to upset her. She says she doesn’t want to keep anything from him and deal with that feeling of guilt ever again. He asks if she has done something to feel guilty about. She says not her; she is worried that someone else has. She shows R.J. the backpack and the letters and tells him that Tom believed he was her father. R.J. says he can see how that would be upsetting. She says the thing that upsets her the most is that she doesn’t know how the backpack got in her apartment. R.J. wonders if Luna suspects her mother. Luna says no, her mother would never hurt anyone, but she doesn’t know what to think.

At Bill’s house, Poppy tells Bill that being in the apartment reminded her how much she appreciates being with him. She says she doesn’t want to lose him. He says he is committed to her and their daughter.

At Il Giordino, Deacon surmises that Katie has a problem with the new woman in Bill’s life. He says Bill was a fool to let Katie get away. Katie insists that she isn’t jealous; she is concerned for Bill. She says she has a weird feeling about Poppy. Deacon says Poppy seems normal enough to him, aside from the fact that she likes Bill. Katie asks Deacon if he doesn’t find it odd that Poppy waited over twenty years to tell Bill that he might have a daughter. And the fact that they moved in with Bill so quickly is weird.

R.J. arrives at Il Giordino to pick up Ridge’s pizza and sees Katie talking to Deacon. Deacon tells Katie it might be a little weird, but he doesn’t see what it has to do with him or Hollis and Tom. Deacon’s phone rings. R.J. tells Katie about the backpack and the letters. Katie asks R.J. if she is right that Poppy killed Hollis and Tom.

At Bill’s house, Poppy holds onto Bill.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[sighs]

[soft music]

[knock at door]

Hey, Steph. Come on in.

I, uh– I found this in the hall. Yours?

Ah, yes. That is my go-to power tie. Thank you.

Mm-hmm.

Must have snuck out of the box and tried to sneak its way back into Titan because it knew that was the closest it would ever get to a position of power in a very long time. Maybe ever.

Wow, cue the violins.

[chuckles] Oversold, huh?

Mm-hmm.

Ah.

Are you– are you all moved back in?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. These are mostly just some odds and ends I had taken with me to the mansion. But it’s funny. This place I left pretty much intact. I was so busy running a huge corporation, I didn’t really have time to get around to getting rid of anything. So easiest move ever.

Huh. Well, must be something to do. Put me to work.

I know damn well you got better things to do than help me unpack.

Hey, perks of being a boss. I gave myself a mental health day.

Oh, good.

Mm-hmm. And yet, it turns out sitting in an empty apartment, staring at the walls, thinking about the man you loved who died, not a great prescription for mental health.

Yeah.

[sighs]

Do you want to talk?

Well, I know for a fact you’ve got better things to do. And I already talked your ear off last night.

Stephanie, I told you before, I’m there for you anytime. I meant it.

Detective Hunter– I mean, Acting Commissioner Hunter.

That’s all right, Madam Mayor. I don’t stand on ceremony.

You should. You’ve more than earned the title. I see the department’s case clearance rates are up. And my office has been getting calls from citizens relieved to hear that Rafe’s assailant has been identified and that would-be murderer Everett Lynch is no longer a threat to society. [groans] Oh, oh, I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Jada. That was insensitive. I know you were married to him. I just– you know, I get carried away sometimes.

No, Mayor Price. It’s not what you said that’s bugging me. It’s– It’s this.

What is it?

Everett’s suicide note.

[tense music]

What’s the matter?

It’s just unbelievable. You know, Rafe almost died just because Jada’s jealous ex decided he wanted her back.

It must be so difficult for Jada to work this case.

Yeah, I’m sure part of her feels responsible.

Yeah, but no one is responsible for what happened to Rafe except for that loony, psychopathic piece of–

You shut your mouth.

[ominous music]

Knock, knock, knock. These are for you. The messenger just delivered them. [chuckles]

Oh. I should have known. They’re from Stefan. Mr. Romantic.

[soft music]

Why don’t you move around the room if you’re gonna pace like that? You’re going to ruin the carpet.

OK. OK, Mom, thank you. You know, question for you.

Mm-hmm?

With these banker’s hours you’re keeping, you think our family business is gonna survive?

I came here to have a nice lunch with Rachel. And since she’s going to be running the place one day, I consider it company time well spent.

Oh.

Why aren’t you off serving lunch to people?

I hire waiters for that. Besides, I came back here to–

Pace?

Weigh my options.

For?

My marriage.

Ah, trouble in paradise already? Again?

This guilt, it’s making me sick. I mean, physically sick.

Oh. Oh, that.

Oh, that? Yeah, that does not seem to sum up the fact that I cheated on my wife while she was in prison.

Oh, having her legs broken. So if it’s giving you an ulcer, I mean, see a doctor.

Yeah, not gonna happen. Because the only cure for what’s eating me up inside is to tell Gabi the truth. So maybe I need to bite the bullet and do just that.

[chuckles] [sighs]

[dramatic music]

[sighs] Come on, I’ll help you search the house for your last remaining scraps of your common sense.

You know, yesterday was our anniversary. Can you imagine how that made me feel?

What, “Happy anniversary, I cheated on you”? I mean, is that your idea of a special gift that she’s going to treasure forever?

OK, you can stop. I took her to the Bistro. I wined her, dined her. I recited a poem that I wrote for her.

[gasps] Oh! Be still my heart.

All right, you know what? Before I knew it, she wanted to know all about the time that we were forced to be apart. Thank you.

Mm-hmm.

And all the time that Ava and I spent–

Mm-hmm, what, pretending to date?

Yeah.

Yeah.

And I told her that we kissed twice, which was the truth.

What? Then, what’s with the guilt? I mean, come on. You confessed to nearly everything.

Nearly everything. That doesn’t cut it, Kristen. A lie of omission is one thing. But lying to my wife, to her face on our anniversary? It just feels wrong. It is wrong. And I need to make it right. [sighs]

[scoffs]

May we celebrate our anniversary every day with–

Oh, you’re blushing.

I’m a lucky woman. Thanks again for letting me play hooky from work yesterday to be with Stefan.

Sure.

Though I have to admit, I– I got a little bit more than I bargained for at that lunch.

Oh, well, I hope you locked the doors.

No, I mean, Stefan and I talked. He told me about everything that happened between the two of you while I was in prison.

The person who stabbed the commissioner was no psycho.

I’m sorry. Excuse me, who are you? And why are you defending this guy?

The paper said Everett Lynch had a serious mental illness. Your words were dehumanizing and uncalled for.

Mm, you– you know what? You’re right. I should have chosen my words more carefully.

Yeah, well, still. Whoever stabbed Rafe was clearly disturbed. I mean, you’d have to be to try and murder a completely innocent man.

A suicide note and a criminal confession, that’s some kind of combination. Um, you printed this out from his computer?

Yeah. Everett re-emerged right in his final moments. But Bobby was the one who allegedly wrote this.

What do you mean, allegedly?

I mean, the more I read it, the more I just– I can’t shake the feeling that something’s not right.

[dramatic music]

[sighs] Everett could be so sweet. So funny, smart. I just– it’s hard for me to imagine that he did what he–

What he confessed to doing? But it was Bobby who stabbed Rafe, right? Not Everett.

Well, Bobby was a part of Everett. I should have seen the signs. I mean, we were almost engaged, for God’s sake.

[sighs] This guy was hiding parts of himself his entire life, Steph. You’re not psychic.

No, just stupid.

You’re not stupid. You want to talk about stupid? Part of me knew damn well I should have never trusted Theresa, and yet, I ignored my gut. I ate up every lie she fed to me. And now, I’m just hoping they don’t reduce her jail sentence because of her ISA brother and father pulling some kind of strings.

Oh.

Oh, what?

I talked to my cousin Andrew a little while ago. Theresa is on her way to Statesville.

OK, for how long?

Six months.

[scoffs] That’s all? Six months for ruining my life. Hmm.

Once I got over the initial shock, something started just nagging at me. That this doesn’t sound like Bobby. I don’t know, just the phrasing of it. And if it was written by hand, then I could compare handwriting. But anyone can type a note.

Jada, are you talking about anyone in particular?

You’re right. The commissioner didn’t deserve a knife in the back. I just pray he gets better soon for his poor sister’s sake.

Wait, you know Gabi?

I’m her executive assistant, Connie Vininski.

Oh, wow. Uh, I’m Johnny DiMera. Gabi’s married to my uncle. And this is my wife, Chanel.

Owner of Sweet Bits. I know, I’m here all the time. It’s a pleasure to meet you for real. And I’m sorry I was testy earlier.

It’s forgiven.

May I say, your biscuits are otherworldly. In fact, I’ll take two now, one for me and one for my boss. Gabi’s been through so much with her brother and the hospital. Not to mention how horribly she’s been betrayed by the people close to her.

What do you mean by that?

[tense music]

Please tell me that you and Stefan had better things to do on your anniversary than talk about the misery that Clyde subjected us to.

We only talked about one part of the misery. How you and Stefan pretended to date. I just felt like I had to know everything about it.

And so, Stefan– he told you everything?

Yes.

Gabi, I am–

I know about the two times you kissed.

OK. And I was gonna say that I am sorry.

Hey, it’s OK. Really. I know it was just about keeping Harris from being suspicious about all the time you two have been spending together. All because you were dragged into the shady business at the Bistro. And now that Stefan and I talked it out completely, I feel like I can put the whole thing to bed. It’s so much better to know exactly what happened than to just be sitting around, imagining the worst.

So, what do you think is going to happen when you tell Gabi everything?

I don’t know. It’s going to be tough, obviously. But we’ve made it through worse.

Are you sure about that? The way I see it, Gabi is having her legs broken in prison. And you are helping your sexy business partner reenact fantasies straight out from her favorite erotic novel. [laughs]

What did she tell you about that night?

Oh, everything. [laughs]

Damn it! Why the hell would she tell you everything?

Oh, why wouldn’t she tell me everything? Because we’re friends, confidants. And if you had an actual friend, maybe they would talk you out of this lunacy.

Not helping.

Fine. All right, fine. You know what, feel whatever you need to feel. Get it over with. But I’m warning you, “hell hath no fury.” Hmm? And I should know because I’ve been there.

[dramatic music]

Sorry, fridge is a little empty.

[laughs] At least you have plates.

Yeah, yeah. Theresa’s plates, she bought them. Housewarming gift. Somehow, she parlayed these little ugly plates into an invite to move in.

Ah.

But she didn’t have anywhere else to go after all, right? Mm, mm. God, Steph, she played me so damn hard.

Look, I’m obviously very upset with how Theresa deceived you. And for her involvement with that criminal, Konstantin Meleounis. But I admit, I care about her and how she’s self-destructed– it makes me more sad than angry.

I’m just plain angry.

Understandably. God, Alex. I wish I could have done something to make this less complicated for you. Maybe I would have paid more attention to what was going on with her if I hadn’t been so caught up in my own problems.

[soft music]

You know what, I think you’re right. I think I need to close this file and just move on. This is just– it’s just way too personal for me. You know, I don’t even know if I can trust my gut right now.

Hmm. This– this is all my fault. I wanted the best person possible to take over from Rafe. But maybe I just asked too much of you.

No, no, no, I was reluctant at first, but I can do it. I mean, that was out of respect for Rafe. But I want to be the one. I want to be the one that brings justice. I don’t care how hard it is. I don’t care how painful it is.

It’s the painful that has me worried.

And I’m making it worse by dwelling on this note.

I don’t know. Maybe I’m just looking for someone to blame. Because I think the real person at fault is me.

You said Gabi was betrayed by somebody close to her. Who?

OK, I just– I just feel– look, I have this terrible feeling that in spite of all of his protestations, Stefan is planning on telling Gabi that we slept together while she was in prison.

Never mind. I shouldn’t have said anything, especially not to you.

What? Why especially not to Johnny?

Because it’s someone from my family, right? The person who you think betrayed Gabi.

Yes, that’s right.

[ominous music]

Well, I’m glad you’re feeling better.

I hope you are, too.

Me?

I’ve noticed you seem uncomfortable around me. Subtle, just under the surface, but it’s there.

[soft music]

OK.

You pretended to date my husband. You kissed him twice. Neither of us is totally comfortable with that, obviously. But it doesn’t have to make things forever weird between us, right?

Well, it shouldn’t.

Ava, I would love it if we could just put everything behind us and focus on having a good working relationship moving forward. Because frankly, after everything I’ve been through and my brother is still in the hospital, I just want peace and harmony, you know, for all of us to get along.

No, no, no. Gabi is not a woman scorned. She is the woman I love with every fiber of my being.

Hmm, well, you’ll be a man scorned when she finds out what you did. Or a man disemboweled.

Great. Thanks for the support.

You know what. What I’m supporting is you not being a total idiot. [groans] Hey, you know what? Come here. Sit down. Come on. Come on. Come on, I– I want you to pretend that I am Gabi. And you explain everything, OK? Go on.

You’re joking.

No, I’m not joking. I’m trying to help you, Stefan. Come on. So improvise what is surely to be the most important conversation of your entire marriage.

OK, OK. OK, fine.

Great.

All right.

So Gabi– oh, and after you spill it all, don’t forget to say why I should forgive you.

Right, OK.

I mean, good luck with that one.

[sighs] OK, OK. OK, here goes.

All right. [clears throat]

Um–

[giggles]

Gabi, I– while you were in prison, I– I missed you terribly. And I– I was worried about you.

Oh, you were so worried that you promptly crawled into bed with that skank?

All right, all right, all right. All right, starting over.

OK.

Starting over.

Good, all right. [clears throat]

Um– Wine. There was wine. There was a lot of wine.

Oh, oh. So that’s all it took to disrespect our sacred bonds? Grape juice? You know what, you’re not doing a really good job at this. You might as well just get it over with and enter witness protection.

No, no, no. One more time, one more time.

OK.

[clears throat] I don’t know what came over me.

Oh, you don’t know what came over you? [laughs] Really? Ava is an attractive woman. And you are a weak, world class idiot who thinks with his you know what.

OK, you know what, I’m starting to think that you didn’t offer to help to actually help me out here. But that doesn’t matter anyway, because this world class idiot is gonna go with his gut and confess.

[dramatic music]

Well, I don’t think idiot applies here anymore. I think we have to come up with a new word that describes your role in this coming disaster.

You know, I spoke with Ava yesterday. And she told me that the two of you were talking about this whole situation, and that Connie, Gabi’s new assistant almost walked in on it. What if Gabi had almost walked in, huh?

I am the soul of discretion. Ava is the one who can’t keep her mouth shut about anything.

Because she feels as guilty as I do. Now, I can’t risk Gabi finding out about this. Not from you, not from Ava, not from anyone. If this secret is gonna come out, I need to be the one to spill it.

I’m really glad we’re on the same page about all this.

Of course we are. I wouldn’t have been so eager to have us work together if I thought it was gonna be a problem.

Really? I assumed Kristen forced you into it, us working together.

OK, I’m surprised that you thought that. Because you know that Kristen is not your biggest fan.

Mm-mm. But she loves being the boss. And deep down, she knows if she wants to stay the boss, she’ll need people like us in the building. Where is she, by the way?

She went home for lunch.

Ah. Lunch is for wimps. Unlike Kristen, I’m a workhorse. And I know you are, too. And lucky for us, so is Connie.

Your surprising new hire.

Yeah. I know, she’s a little eccentric. But give her a little oppo research to do at : a.m., and you wouldn’t believe what she can dig up.

Well, speaking of Connie, where is she?

You’re talking about my dad, right?

Your dad?

Yeah, the one from my family who you think betrayed Gabi. He was the DA who put her in prison, even though she was innocent.

Oh, you’re EJ DiMera’s son. Yes, that’s what I was talking about. You know, I better get these biscuits to Gabi. It was nice meeting both of you.

[dramatic music]

Jada, honey, I thought I had disabused you of the idea that you bore any responsibility for what happened to Everett.

With all due respect, Mayor Price, I’m the one that called him into the station. And I confronted him immediately, and I started accusing him of stabbing Rafe. And that’s when he started telling me that he didn’t feel well, and he hightailed it out of here. And then, he went straight to that hotel. And he wrote that suicide note. And he took those pills.

Yes.

And he climbed in the bed.

Jada.

And he died.

Jada. Jada, honey. Honey, he– he took his own life because of the things he did, not because you were onto him.

I wish I believed that. And I wish that I never let him go.

[tense music]

Stephanie, come on. It’s not your job to rescue me from Theresa Donovan.

Maybe not. But I’m just so sorry that you got hurt so badly.

Well, thank you. And I’m sorry about what you’re going through. Why do they keep these ugly little plates, anyway? I know I may not be Victor’s son, but I’m still a Kiriakis. I can afford new plates, right?

You could afford a separate set for every day of the week.

That’s right. And I’m still proudly half Greek.

I didn’t think that was ever in question.

It’s not in question. I was just thinking about my favorite Greek wedding tradition. Yes, the fate of these plates has been decided.

Ooh.

Oh, yeah.

You mean– I thought that was only for happy occasions.

They do it at funerals, too. It’s to symbolize beginnings and endings. And it’s supposed to ward off bad spirits.

Oh, I like that idea.

Yeah? Me, too. Let’s do this. Screw these crackers. Come on over. Let’s go, right here.

OK.

We’re doing this, and I want you to do the honors.

I–

Oh, yeah.

I couldn’t.

Oh yes, you can.

No.

Oh yeah, big breath. Let’s go. You can do it.

I couldn’t.

No?

I couldn’t.

Watch me. You ready? [grunts]

[gasps]

Oh, my– That felt amazing. That felt amazing. You need this right now.

Wait, wait. This is gonna be–

Do it.

–a big mess.

It’s gonna be a huge mess. Break the damn plate.

OK.

Mm-hmm. [laughter]

Yes!

Oh my God, you’re right.

Yes.

That felt amazing.

Let’s go, let’s go. Here, take one.

OK!

Let’s go. Ready? [grunts]

Yes! More.

More?

Yeah.

One more, for good luck. Here we go.

OK.

Jada, honey, you had nothing to hold Bobby on. You were following the law. You handled this with the utmost sensitivity. Now, you– you have no responsibility for what happened to that man after he hightailed it out of here.

I know you’re right.

Damn right I’m right. Now, I don’t presume to tell you how to do your job. But I believe that– that belongs in your cleared cases stack. Will you put it there?

[soft music]

I will. And thank you. For everything.

[chuckles] I’m here. Anything you need.

Thank you.

Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

[sighs]

[tense music]

Alex Kiriakis pushing a broom. Wow, wow. Being on top hasn’t made you to forget how to be a regular guy.

That’s damn right. You know, I did have a maid at Victor and Maggie’s. But there’s something to be said about having your own place. I got to exorcise the ghost of Theresa. So yeah, the mess was definitely worth it.

Hard agree.

Hard agree, huh? You’re feeling better or what?

Thanks to you.

Ah, thank you. Actually, I hate to admit this, but we do owe thanks to Theresa a little bit.

What, for supplying the props?

Yeah.

Forget that. The inspiration was your department.

Oh. Well, you know.

I really owe you one.

Maybe. [phone beeps]

Oh. That’s Jada. She needs me down at the station. I wonder what that’s about.

Hmm.

Wow, that Connie woman. I know I shouldn’t say anything about a loyal customer, but I think she might have had about a dozen biscuits that fateful day when Talia–

Think that might have had a lasting effect?

Nah. So maybe she’s just nuts. Wait, but I’m sorry. I should choose my words more carefully. Maybe she’s just eccentric.

[laughs] Yeah. Yeah, that’s much better.

[scoffs] Stefan, I don’t get you. I mean, you come back from the dead, miracle of miracles. Hmm? And then you and I, we bust our asses to get Gabi out of prison. And you finally have her back. And I mean, it’s clear sailing for the rest of your natural lives. And instead, you just want to throw it away.

OK, Kristen, maybe if you got me, you would understand that there’s more than one solution to this problem. Question.

Mm-hmm?

Which one of us knows Gabi better, you or me?

Question. Which one of us is a woman? Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

[tense music]

To new beginnings.

Ah, with a side of caffeine. [laughter]

I’m so glad we cleared the air.

Me, too.

I brought biscuits!

Mm.

Oh.

Sorry, I didn’t bring one for you.

That’s OK. Actually, I have got to go. I’ve got to go meet with one of our new distributors. I will be back soon.

OK.

So, how’s your brother?

The same. Thanks for asking.

Of course. So, what was all of that about between you and Ava?

We were just hashing out a few things.

Like what? Sorry, wait, none of my business.

No. But I’m glad you asked. You may have heard the rumors going around a while ago about my husband being involved with Ava while I was in prison.

Rumors?

It’s a long story, not worth getting into. Nothing really happened between them. And Ava and I have agreed to put it behind us.

Nothing happened between them?

No, nothing did.

Are you sure about that?

[dramatic music] [knock at door]

Come in.

You rang?

Yeah. Uh, sorry to drag you all the way down here again. But I just noticed a few minutes ago that you never signed your witness statement for– you know.

Yeah, of course. [sighs] I wasn’t, um–

[soft music] I didn’t think I’d be reliving all this when I got your message.

I’m sorry. I mean, you know, this is just a formality. You know, obviously, his death was ruled a suicide. And he confessed to stabbing Rafe.

So it’s over.

Uh, yeah. Paulina came in here today. And she convinced me that I should put all of this to bed. So that’s exactly what I’m gonna do. So consider this file officially closed.

[sighs]

You know, I wonder if “Body and Soul” could use a character like Connie to maybe stir things up.

Did I hear “Body and Soul”? Abraham’s been talking about that show morning, noon, and night. I need a break.

Well, then, Mama, your timing is perfect because today is Test Kitchen Day, and Johnny just gave me the thumbs up on my new latte recipe. And how would you like to try my new heart healthy cranberry oat bran muffins?

Uh, is that question serious?

Yes, and I made them especially for you. And I promise they won’t taste a bit healthy, so come on.

Ugh.

[laughs]

Johnny DiMera. [chuckles] I heard you were moving to Hollywood.

Uh, Ava Vitali. No. It turns out there’s plenty of Hollywood right here in Salem.

Ah, so you’re sticking around?

Yeah.

Well, I’m glad to hear it.

So, I heard you left my grandfather’s fine establishment to go work at DiMera. Honestly, the last place I saw you ending up.

Yeah, same, actually.

And you’re working a lot with Gabi? How’s that going?

Well, you know, I was a bit worried about it at first. But I think it’s all gonna turn out just fine.

Well, of course nothing happened between my husband and Ava. Why would you ask me something like that? [phone ringing] Hold on. Stefan? Hi.

[tense music] Are you there?

Yeah. Yeah, sorry. I just– I wanted to hear your voice.

Mm. I was about to call. The flowers are beautiful. I love them, but I love you more.

How’s your day?

Uh, well, I just finished having a long conversation with Ava.

About?

Well, I told her that you and I talked. And we’re in a good place. Because honestly, I could not imagine relaunching Gabi Chic without her.

That’s good. I’m happy for you. Look, Gabi, I uh– You know I love you. More than you could ever imagine.

And I’m gonna let you get back to your work day.

Right. I’ll see you later, my love.

[groans] Damn it.

I’m sorry. Was that a practice run? Because I didn’t hear you say anything about cheating.

OK, enough, all right? I couldn’t do it.

[chuckles] You mean, you think I’m right?

I mean–

I’m right. [laughs]

Yes, I think you’re right. Gabi can’t find out. It’ll break her heart.

I like you, Connie. But I don’t appreciate you asking me questions like that. Of course, my husband was telling me the truth. Now, I need you to take a memo.

Wait!

What is it? Whatever it is, just say it.

I don’t want to be the one to have to tell you this.

Are you quitting because I got upset?

No, it’s not about me. It’s about you. I’m so sorry, Gabi. I don’t want to be the one to say this, but–

But what?

Your husband cheated on you.

[dramatic music]

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Brady demanded to know why Tate was there. Sophia found Holly watching Brady and Tate. Holly pulled her away. Brady grilled Tate about being in Salem. He thought he was there to see Holly. Tate said he was there about his mother who went to prison. He wondered why he didn’t hear it from Brady. John arrived home and Marlena hugged him. His flight landed early, so he wanted to surprise her. Jack and Chad stayed in Missouri to get info about Abby. John faltered, so Marlena wanted to take him to the hospital. Jack checked out the bracelet that Chad found. Chad said Abby wore that bracelet the night she died. He didn’t have a logical reason for it to be there. It proved the woman was Abby. Jack reminded him that Leo stole Abby’s jewelry and fenced it to Clyde. Clyde could have held on to it to mess with them. A blonde woman listened to them talking in the hallway. As she backed away, they rushed out. Chad grabbed her arm. Marlena wanted to know who attacked John in Greece. She wanted to know how he ended up in Missouri. He didn’t know since he only wanted to hurt was Konstantin, and he was already dead. Marlena wondered if it was someone from Poplar Bluff. He thought what happened to him could be tied to Jack and Chad’s search for Abby.

Holly dragged Sophia to the pub, and they started arguing. Sophia wondered where her money was to keep her mouth shut about her sneaking around with Tate. Holy just deposited her check, so she should get it soon. She offered Sophia cash, and Sophia realized that Holly really liked Tate. Sophia wondered if they had sex yet. Holly insisted they haven’t had it yet. Brady admitted to Tate that he’s been messed up. He didn’t like that Theresa was messed up, and Tate had to deal with it. Brady was dealing with anxiety because of Rachel being around Kristen. He wondered how he could get involved with two women who were messed up. Brady informed Tate that he might not be there for him because he’s struggling with everything. Tate offered to come back from camp so they could get through it together. Brady didn’t think it was a good idea. They start arguing about Tate going back to camp when Paul and Andrew walked up to them. Andrew told them that EJ agreed to the deal he made for Theresa. He told them that she was sentenced to six months, and she would be transferred to Statesville. Andrew told Tate that he could see his mother before she leaves. Tate left with Andrew. Paul told Brady that he got a call from Marlena telling him that John was in the hospital. Jack and Chad forced the mystery woman in the room. They thought she was the woman in the video. She didn’t know what they were talking about but wanted her bracelet back. Chad asked her where she got it. She didn’t remember. The mystery woman told them she was in a bad accident years ago. When she woke up, she had flashes of memories but nothing concrete. She said she had plastic surgery and didn’t know what her original face looked like. The mystery woman was living someone else’s life. She didn’t know the woman she sees in the mirror. Chad said they might be able to help her with that. Jack and Chad told her that she might be Abby. Her accident matched up with when they lost Abby. She said when she woke up a man told her about her accident. Chad asked her if his name was Clyde. She confirmed and identified him from the picture. The woman said Clyde warned her that people would be coming to look for her. He brought her there to hide her and then he disappeared. A woman named Goldman took care of her, but she disappeared too. She wondered what happened to Clyde. They told her that Clyde was in solitary confinement. There was another way to find out who she was. They wanted her to come home with them. She thought they could be the people Clyde warned her about. Jack swore to her that they didn’t want to harm her. Chad told her that they wanted to help her figure out who she was. She agreed to go with him. The woman warned him that he was a dead man if he touched her.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

At the hospital, Johnny went to see Rafe. He told Rafe that he was a superhero to him when he was a kid. Gabi said Rafe loved being his stepfather. Johnny apologized to her for EJ letting her go to prison for something she didn’t do. Gabi was shocked that he was being nice to her after she exposed EJ. Johnny was glad she exposed it and hoped his father learned a lesson now that he lost everyone. While he was talking, he told her Stefan was lonely and miserable while she was gone. Ava went to talk to Stefan alone. She said she couldn’t be sure but she thought Connie might have overheard her talking to Kristen about their affair. Stefan was furious but Ava said Connie was harmless. Paulina met with Jada in Rafe’s office. Jada told her Bobby was most likely the one who stabbed Rafe. Paulina was shocked when she heard the story. It bothered Jada that she didn’t figure it out sooner since there was no one else to suspect. Paulina said it wasn’t her fault. She talked about her own issues with abuse. Jada said she couldn’t believe the man she once loved could be capable of murder. She said Bobby had secrets, but she hoped they didn’t cost Rafe his life. Connie wanted to celebrate because things were going her way. Imaginary Li asked her if she was happy because she murdered Bobby. Since Bobby was going to expose her, she had to do it. She said it was Stefan and Gabi’s fault. Connie said they were going to pay for what they did.

Alex and Stephanie went to the pub. He talked about believing he was Victor’s son and what happened when he found out he wasn’t. Stephanie told him Everett died. He offered his condolences. Jada told Paulina that they still don’t know who killed Li. Paulina wondered if Bobby could have stabbed him as well. Jada said it was possible but thought he would have included that in his suicide note. Connie told Li that Stefan slept with Ava while Gabi was in prison. Li was shocked and thought it would blow up Stefan and Gabi’s marriage. Connie said she planned on exposing it when it had a huge impact. Li admired how she was making the women friends before she ruins them. Stefan told Ava that Connie came by with papers for Gabi to sign. Ava said she never asked her to do that. Stefan wasn’t convinced that everything was going to be okay. He suggested they not talk about it again so no one would over hear them. Gabi showed up and wondered why Ava was there. Ava said she had papers for Gabi to sign but didn’t realize Connie already showed up.

When Fiona begged Xander to forgive her, he found a pair of boxers. Xander asked her whose boxers they were. Fiona flashed back to telling Brady to go in the bathroom. Xander asked if she was entertaining someone last night. Fiona said she met the person while getting lattes. Xander wanted to know the person’s name. Alex ran into Brady at the pub. While Alex was venting about Theresa, he thought that was why Brady was back on the bottle. Brady said he was drinking club soda. Alex was glad he didn’t have to call Maggie and tell her. They made a toast to each other saying they weren’t worthy of being in Victor’s will. Alex added Theresa to the toast by saying he never wanted to see her again. Stephanie told Kayla that Everett died. She felt as if she didn’t do enough to help Everett. Stephanie said she should have realized sooner that Bobby was pretending to be Everett. She told Kayla that Everett came back just before he died. Chad kicked in the door at Poplar Bluff. John was tied up to a chair with a gash over his eye. Jack and Chad free him from the ties. John said he thought he was in Greece. Jack handed John the phone so he could call Marlena.

Fiona told Xander he didn’t know her friend. Changing the subject, she asked him for another chance to be the mother he deserved. Xander said he hurt people and remembered begging for forgiveness. Since he respected the fact that she worked on her sanity and sobriety, he decided to forgive her. Kayla invited Stephanie to come back home. Stephanie said she was back in her and Chad’s old place. Kayla said she didn’t like Stephanie being around all the memories. Stephanie said Chad wasn’t ready to move on from Abby. She thought he knew a part of him knew Abby was alive. While Chad was looking around the room, John called Marlena and told her he made his peace with Catharina’s death. When he got home he was going to tell her everything. After John got off the phone, he asked why Chad and Jack were there. They told him about Abby. Alex told Brady he was moving back to his apartment. He said everything he thought was his belonged to Xander. Brady understood why he was upset. When Alex mentioned Theresa, Brady said he brain and heart were never on the same page with Theresa. He said he was glad his head took over and he didn’t fall too deeply. Alex was upset with himself for being sucked in. Brady decided he was done with women. Alex asked him about Kristen. Brady said things would be worse with Kristen. Fiona asked Xander when he was going to claim his birthright. Xander said he may not claim it because Victor treated him like dirt for years. He said Sarah was able to support them and he was happy to spend time with Victoria. Fiona said that didn’t sound like him. Xander reminded her that she didn’t know him. She said he had a right to claim what was his. In Marlena’s office, she told Steve that John was hit from behind at Catharina’s grave. She said the last thing John remembered was being dragged away before he blacked out. Chad showed John the video. The room they were in looked like the one the mystery woman was held in. John thought it was the same room. Xander told Fiona she gave him a lot to think about. While they were talking about Sarah and the wedding, he invited Fiona to the wedding. John told Chad and Jack that he was out of it, but he remembered someone bringing him food. Chad wanted to stay and find out who the people were. When Jack took John to the hospital, Chad noticed a bracelet on the floor. He said it was Abby’s.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Brady couldn’t believe he was with Xander’s mother. Fiona wondered what was wrong with it. He told her that he’s a creep who shot him and his stepmother. Xander put his nameplate on the desk at Titan. Sarah wondered what made him change his mind. He told her that he wasn’t over what his mother did, but he knew it was time to move forward. She was happy about that because she could be at their wedding. Xander agreed to let her come to the wedding. Kate questioned Abe’s decision to hire Hattie for Body and Soul. He had faith that Hattie would figure things out. Abe wanted Kate to reconsider playing the part of Lorna. She didn’t want to do it. Kate wanted him to find someone else for the part. She said they had to find someone else. Leo walked in and offered his services. He was dressed as Lorna. They informed him that it was a female role. He reminded them of the other men who played women before. Kate reminded him that Leo tried to take down Titan. She thought they should let him audition before he them for gender discrimination. Holly tried to reach out to Tate but didn’t get an answer. Maggie walked in the room and saw her on the phone. Holly lied about talking to Sophia, but Maggie didn’t believe her. She thought she should keep her distance from Tate. Maggie thought their parents might change their minds about them seeing each other. She agreed to keep quiet about it for now, but she didn’t want Holly to lie to her. After Maggie left the room, Holly called Tate again. Fiona apologized to Brady for the way Xander treated him. She blamed herself for not being there for him when she needed him. Brady understood and thought that Xander was trying to turn his life around. Xander called Fiona to invite her to the wedding. Brady called out to her, and she stopped him from talking Xander heard a man in the background and told her to bring him to the wedding. She thought it was too soon in the relationship, but she agreed to go. After Fiona got off the phone, she told Brady about Xander’s wedding.

Leo auditioned for Body and Soul. He told Abe and Kate that he rewrote the lines because he thought it was pedestrian. They rolled their eyes at him. Kate thought his performance was terrible. Leo blamed the script for his performance. Abe said they needed a new head writer. Kate hoped Will could help them. Leo thought he was expensive, and Abe agreed with him. He offered to do it. Kate gave him a test to see if he could write the script. He accepted her challenge and left the room. Kate wondered what they got themselves into. Xander arrived home and found Maggie setting out flowers. Maggie thought Victor would be proud to see him taking his place at Titan. Fiona showed up. She thought his apartment was quaint but thought he would be moving back to the mansion. Sarah came out of the bathroom wearing her wedding dress. He said he didn’t need a mansion because he had his beautiful bride. Holly and Tate walked hand and hand through the square. She bought the tickets to go to Smith Island. Tate bumped into Brady. Xander changed into his kilt, and they exchanged vows in their living room. Sarah and Xander were finally married.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Brady wakes up in bed with Fiona and acknowledges her as Xander’s mom, stating that this time it really happened.

Sarah goes to see Xander at the Titan office and asks if the CEO can make some time for his wife. Xander jokes that he can squeeze her in as they kiss.

Holly sits at home in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion and gets a call from Tate but there’s no reception. Holly asks if Tate can hear her right as Maggie walks in and startles her.

Abe and Kate are at their Body and Soul office. Kate comments on the hard work while Abe notes they got a jump on casting and he feels their new Charlemagne is honing her craft as they speak.

Hattie is at the Brady Pub, reading the script for Body and Soul. Bonnie walks in and overhears Hattie reading a line about killing her husband. Bonnie then approaches Hattie, thinking she is Marlena, and questions if she is plotting to murder John. Hattie then informs Bonnie that she’s not Marlena. Bonnie panics that she means Satan possessed Marlena again but she reveals that she is Hattie which relieves Bonnie.

Xander asks how Sarah knew he was at the office. Sarah mentions running in to Justin and guesses Xander decided to stake his claim in Victor’s legacy after all. Xander asks how she feels about that. Sarah says she just wants him to be happy, but last they spoke about it, he was set to turn it down. Sarah asks what changed his mind. Xander reveals that it was actually his mom.

Fiona asks Brady what part of doing it with Xander’s mom is so upsetting. Brady points out that Xander is his uncle now and then calls Xander a total creep.

Holly tells Maggie that she didn’t hear her come in and decides to make her some tea. Maggie notes that Holly sounded like she was having an urgent conversation when she came in and asks if everything is alright. Holly claims that she was talking to Sophia about taking one of her shifts but the reception was terrible. Maggie then questions why she would call Sophia, “Tate”

Sarah asks if this means Xander and Fiona are on good terms. Xander responds that they are working on it. Xander doesn’t know if he’ll ever be totally over her abandoning him as a child and lying to him about his father, but they have found a way to move forward. Sarah says that’s good because they are going to need her as a witness as she declares that she wants to get married today.

Fiona questions Brady thinking Xander is a total creep. Fiona appreciates his honesty but questions why he has such a low opinion of Xander. Brady doesn’t think they need to get in to that and says he needs to shower and get to work. Fiona insists on knowing exactly what Xander did to him. Brady then reveals to start with that Xander shot him and his stepmother, who almost died. Brady asks if that answers her question.

Bonnie is shocked to see Hattie and says she’s been thinking about all their good times lately as they hug. Bonnie questions Hattie being married because she heard her talking about killing her husband. Hattie then explains it’s a line from a TV script. Hattie declares that she’s going to be a soap star.

Kate asks if Abe is really set on hiring Hattie to play Charlemagne. Abe thinks she’s perfect, calling her bold, brash, and unpredictable. Kate argues that Hattie can’t act. Abe points out that Hattie fooled the whole town in to thinking she was Marlena, so he has faith that she will figure this out. Abe adds that they have to focus on filling out the rest of the cast. Abe asks if Kate is sure she won’t consider playing Lorna. Kate insists that she will not, so they will just have to find someone else. Leo then walks in, wearing a wig, makeup, and a dress as he declares that sounds like his cue.

Holly apologizes to Maggie for lying to her and admits she was talking to Tate, claiming she wanted to know how he was doing at lacrosse camp. Holly knows they aren’t supposed to be talking but says she just misses Tate so much. Maggie understands and says if it were up to her, she wouldn’t have come down as hard on her but it wasn’t up to her and she lied to her parents. Maggie says they just want to keep her safe while Holly questions safe from what, their feelings for each other? Holly calls it so unfair and complains that she doesn’t know why they won’t let her and Tate be together. Maggie points out they made bad decisions in sneaking around. Holly argues that they didn’t have a choice. Maggie says the best way to change their mind is to prove they can be trusted and keep their distance, then maybe they will change their mind. Holly asks if Maggie won’t tell them about the phone call. Maggie agrees not to say anything but from now on, she wants Holly to be honest with her. Holly agrees to do so and thanks her. Maggie mentions taking Victoria home and says she will see her later as she exits the room. Holly then immediately tries calling Tate again but is shocked when Tate instead arrives in the room and tells her that she’s right there.

Fiona tells Brady that she doesn’t know where to begin apologizing for the heinous things that Xander has done to him and his family. Brady asks how that can be her fault. Fiona talks about not being there for Xander growing up so she can’t help but take responsibility for how he turned out. Brady understands that parents make mistakes. Fiona asks if he’s speaking from experience. Brady talks about his son spending half his life across the country with his mother and how he’s trying to make up for that now by being the best father he can be. Fiona asks how that is working out. Brady calls it complicated and says he just had to send him to summer camp to straighten him out and keep him out of trouble. Fiona relates to trying to make up for lost time with Xander too and calls falling out with him the biggest regret of her life. Brady says he knows better than anybody that people can change, pointing out that Xander has Sarah and is a dad, so word on the street is that he’s trying to change. Fiona thanks Brady as he then goes to shower.

Xander questions Sarah wanting to get married today. Sarah asks why not. Xander assures that he wants to marry her more than anything in the world, so Sarah says she will go home and get ready then. Sarah kisses him and says they can then start their life as husband and wife. Sarah then exits the office, leaving Xander with a smile.

Hattie shows Bonnie the script for Body and Soul, telling her that it’s top secret as Abe and Kate are really serious about it. Bonnie can’t wait to see it on TV and encourages that Hattie is going to kill it. Bonnie exclaims that Hattie will be a bonafide soap star. Hattie says they will wait until she signs her first autograph. Bonnie asks if she’s met her castmates. Hattie says they are still casting for a Lorna and a Cassandra. Bonnie identifies Cassandra as her all time favorite character. Hattie says they wanted Kayla but she said no way. Hattie says to imagine one of Salem’s finest citizens being in a soap opera.

Leo tells Abe and Kate that he’s here to audition for the role of Lorna DeLorean. Kate points out that this is for Body and Soul, not RuPaul’s Drag Race. Leo insists that he knows why he’s here, while Abe points out that Lorna is a woman and Leo is a man. Leo argues that he could play the role better than any female, comparing it to Shakespeare days. Kate asks Leo to excuse them for a moment and steps aside with Abe, suggesting maybe they should Leo read so they don’t get a gender discrimination lawsuit. Kate points out that it’s only an audition so Abe reluctantly agrees to let Leo read for the part. Leo compares it to Hamlet while Abe and Kate remain uncertain.

Fiona gets a call from Xander, who asks if she’s busy this afternoon. Fiona says that she has some free time and asks what’s going on. Xander thought she might want to witness her son remarry the love of his life. Brady then comes out of the shower and tells Fiona that the shower is all hers. Xander then questions whose voice that was.

Holly questions what Tate is doing here and how much trouble he’s going to be in. Tate says he had to come, explaining that he locked himself out of the Horton Cabin and he needs Maggie’s key to get back in.

Maggie brings Victoria home to Sarah. Maggie says she must be exhausted after a double shift and offers to stay and watch Victoria. Sarah tells her that she’d love for her to stay but there’s no time for sleep because she and Xander are getting married today.

Xander questions Fiona as to who is with her. Fiona responds that she had another delightful night with her charming new friend. Xander says he will change the subject then and asks if she can make the wedding. Fiona says of course as she wouldn’t miss it. Xander tells her to feel free to bring her new friend along as he’d love to meet him. Fiona thinks it’s a bit early in their relationship for her to be introducing him to her family. Xander says the invitation stands if she changed her mind, but he’ll see her at their apartment this afternoon. After Fiona hangs up, Brady says he really thought she was going to tell him the truth. Brady then gets a call from Xander and worries that maybe he recognized his voice.

Leo auditions for Abe and Kate, who can’t wait for it to be over.

Holly asks why Tate would lock the door while going out for a jog. Tate calls it a force of habit. Holly argues that he shouldn’t be out jogging anyways in case someone saw him and called Julie or someone on him. Tate says he just had to get out as he was going stir crazy. Tate asks if she thinks she can get Maggie’s key. Holly worries about Maggie noticing it’s gone but Tate assures he’ll just take it and get a copy made. Holly tells him that she has a better idea and says she doesn’t have work until tonight, so she’ll go with him to the Cabin so they can hang out and then she’ll bring the key back when she comes back. Tate likes the sound of that as they kiss.

Brady answers Xander’s call. Xander asks where he is right now. Brady asks why he cares. Xander tells him to lose the attitude and informs him that Brady is going to be working for him now that he’s back as CEO of Titan. Brady is surprised as Xander guesses he didn’t see the press release. Xander informs Brady that he needs him to take a meeting for him as a high end tech company wants to meet about creating AI using Titan publications. Brady asks what that has to do with Basic Black. Xander says nothing, but he and Sarah are getting married today in just a small ceremony with his mom and Maggie in attendance. Brady congratulates him. Xander says it would really put everyone at ease if there was a family member at that meeting, so he asks if he can count on Brady to handle it. Brady agrees to go and tells him to consider it his wedding present. Xander thanks him but Brady clarifies that he’s not doing it for him, but for Sarah, Maggie and anyone else who has had the misfortune of loving him as he then hangs up. Fiona tells Brady that he was worried about nothing and this will stay between them. Brady says he better get to the office to prepare for this meeting while Fiona says she has to transformer herself in to a suitable mother in law. Brady tells Fiona that last night was actually really great. Fiona agrees and suggests they do it again sometime. Brady agrees and kisses her.

Sarah tells Maggie that Victoria went right to sleep. Maggie asks what Fiona said to Xander to convince him to accept Victor’s request. Sarah thinks that Fiona helped Xander embrace the idea but admits that she’s a little surprised considering how angry Xander was with her at the wedding. Maggie is happy they are getting along since Xander will need his whole family to help navigate his new life. Sarah says that’s why she wants to make their little family official. Sarah then asks if Maggie wants to perform the wedding. Maggie says she’s been waiting for this a long time as they hug.

Bonnie and Hattie take selfies together. Bonnie talks about how Hattie used to work at the Pub and now her name is going to be in lights. Bonnie talks about movie stars beginning their careers on soaps and Hattie Adams will be right there with them.

Leo asks Abe and Kate what they thought of his audition. Abe hesitates while Kate calls it terrible and painful. Leo complains and blames the script, asking who wrote it. Abe says they are in the process of looking for a new head writer. Kate hopes that Will will take over which Leo mocks. Kate asks if he thinks insulting her grandson will encourage her to hire him. Leo claims he was just joking and argues that Will’s fee must be enormous and they couldn’t afford him. Abe admits he has a point. Kate questions Abe thinking of hiring Leo as a writer. Abe admits that Lady Whistleblower has a way with words. Kate reluctantly hands Leo an outline for a script and instructs him to return a script back to them and then they might consider hiring him on a trial deal to write for them. Leo questions it but Abe tells him to take it or leave it. Leo agrees to take it and tells them to prepare to be blown away as he then exits. Kate asks Abe what the hell they have gotten themselves in to.

Xander goes home and hugs Maggie, telling her he’s delighted to see her. Xander asks if she’s ready to marry him off to her daughter again. Maggie says she is and that she hears his mother is on the way. Xander calls it a step in the right direction. Maggie mentions hearing that Fiona convinced Xander to take his rightful place at Titan and she thinks Victor would be very pleased. Fiona then arrives and greets them, calling it such a happy day. Xander questions Fiona not bringing a plus one. Fiona says that her friend agreed it was far too early to meet their families. Fiona assumes Xander will be moving his family in to the Kiriakis Mansion after the wedding. Sarah then comes out from the bathroom and joins Xander. Xander declares that he doesn’t need a mansion as long as he has his beautiful bride because his true home is in Sarah’s heart. Maggie then instructs Xander to get changed so they can have a wedding.

Hattie comes out of the Pub and runs in to Leo. Leo stops her, assuming she is Marlena, and invites her over to watch RuPaul’s Drag Race with him. Hattie excitedly agrees so Leo says he will see her tonight in his room at the Salem Inn. Leo then heads on in to the Pub while Hattie wonders who the hell he was.

Kate comments to Abe on what their show is turning in to considering he convinced her to hire Hattie and now they are actually considering hiring Leo Stark to write for them. Abe encourages that there will never be a dull moment on screen or behind the scenes. Kate just wants to find someone normal to play Cassandra and mentions some of the best theatre actors coming by later. Bonnie then walks in and tells Kate to cancel that casting call as she declares that she was born to play Cassandra Lovegood.

Tate and Holly walk through the town square. Holly tells Tate to find somewhere to stay hidden while she goes to buy them tickets for the Smith Island ferry. After Holly walks away, Brady walks through the town square and bumps in to Tate and is shocked to see him back in town.

Maggie begins the wedding of Xander and Sarah, asking Xander about something he wanted to say before the vows. Xander admits he’s a little nervous. Fiona encourages him to take his time. Xander talks about not being worthy of Sarah but she’s here, ready and willing to give him yet another chance, which is proof he’s gotten more of God’s grace than he ever imagined. Xander acknowledges that he will mess up repeatedly but he will strive to be completely honest with her, putting their family and their love first, always. Maggie then asks if Sarah would like to say something. Sarah admits that Xander has made some huge mistakes but sometimes she thinks she’s the one who doesn’t deserve him, asking what she did to deserve a man who loves her so much that he would be willing to do anything for her. Sarah can’t promise to never get mad at him if he messes up, but vows to never take the easy way out again as she will stay and fight for their marriage, their family, and their love. Sarah declares that they are so worth it as Maggie gets emotional. Maggie then continues the ceremony. Xander and Sarah say I do and exchange rings. Maggie then pronounces them once again, husband and wife as they kiss.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Okay, you find someplace to stay hidden. And I’ll get us tickets for the Smith Island ferry.

Deal. both: Bye.

Yeah, I’m headed back to the office. Just make sure the conference room is ready for the meeting, all right? All right. Thank you. Oh, sorry.

I’m sorry.

Tate?

Hey, Dad.

What in the hell are you doin’ in town?

[tense music]

You are so tense.

Hmm. Well, I thought my dad was traveling in Greece. Go to find out he was assaulted and kidnapped. He’s being held in Missouri, of all places.

I know. It’s crazy. And I know you’re anxious to hear from him, but at least we know he’s okay, right?

Yeah. I’ll just feel a lot better when he’s officially back in Salem, safe and sound.

[groans]

John, you’re home.

Oh, Doc.

Oh. Oh, I’m so glad to see you. Oh, my gosh. Why didn’t you call me? I was about to come pick you up at the airport.

No, the flight landed earlier. I just wanted to shoot right home and surprise you.

You did. You did. Uh, where’s Jack? Did you–

No, I mean, I took a cab. Uh, Jack stayed behind in Missouri with Chad. They’re still looking for answers regarding Abigail.

Are you sure this was Abigail’s?

I’m positive.

But how? I mean, how–how–how could that be?

Uh, she must have been wearing it the night that she died.

Was she–I mean– I mean, you were there with her.

Right. Like, I-I don’t– I don’t know. You know, so much of that night has stuck with me. And I can–I can still– I can still see flashes of it, you know? I can see her hands, and I can see her arms. But her–her wrists, you know, I just– I-I just draw a blank, you know, I was– I was so focused on trying to get her help, you know, just–just trying to get her so stay with me–

Yes, I–yes, of course. I’m–I’m sorry. Of course you were.

I don’t know. Is it po–you know– [sighs] No, listen, listen, listen. She was wearing this the night that she died, all right? There’s no other explanation for this thing to be here. Okay? This–this proves it. The woman in that video is Abigail, Jack. And I’m not leaving here until she comes back.

Chad. I know that you’re desperate to find her. So am I. But we just found John being held captive in this very room hours ago. When the people responsible for that come back here, we are sitting ducks.

So? They haven’t come back yet. And if it leads us to Abby, who cares? Let ’em come back.

[sighs] You know–you know, there’s… there’s another explanation behind this bracelet.

What?

Leo. Leo stole some jewelry from Abigail a while back. And he fenced it through Clyde. We know that. We know that Clyde took a piece of that jewelry, and he gave it to Nancy. And that’s why he was a suspect in Abigail’s murder, right?

Yeah, okay, great. Well, where are you going with it?

[intriguing music]

[sighs] He may have held on to this bracelet, as well as the piece of jewelry for Nancy and left it here for you to find as proof, to perpetuate a hoax, to make us both think that Abigail is still alive. I’m sorry. I am sorry. We have to be clear-headed about this. Just because you found a bracelet that belongs to Abigail doesn’t necessarily mean… [sniffles] That Abigail was ever really here.

[gasps] Oh, I still can’t believe it. You know, I have a million questions. But I’m sure the last thing you want is a third degree, right? Now–John, John, John! Are you all right? Easy, easy. Are you okay?

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I’m sorry. Just–I’m fine, yeah.

After all you’ve been through, I think we should get you checked out. In fact, I’m going to insist on that.

Well, you’re the doctor.

Yes, okay. Okay, good. Hang on. Hang on. Like that.

Dad’s about to land any minute now. Marlena’s gonna call you as soon as they get home. Paul, it’s all over now.

Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I know.

So where were we? Hello? Paul? Listen, your dad is gonna be fine. Marlena knows best, right? And she told you not to worry.

But it’s not just about my dad. It’s Brady too. I-I just wish to hell I knew what was going on with them.

What are you doing in Salem when you’re supposed to be in New York at lacrosse camp? What are you doing here?

It’s actually–it’s a long story, and I can tell–

It better be a good one, son.

I think maybe we should just get lunch or coffee–

No, no, no, no. We’re gonna–we’re gonna deal with this right here and right now. You’re here to see Holly, aren’t you?

[tense music]

What are you lurking back here for? Oh, wait, is that Tate over there? Hey, why don’t we go say hello?

How about we not?

Look, I already know what’s going on here. So just admit it, all right? You came back to see Holly, right?

Obviously not, since you forbid me from seeing her.

That never stopped you before. What other good reason would you have for just leaving lacrosse camp?

What other reason?

Yeah.

Oh, I don’t know. How about Mom? Yeah, you remember her? She called me at camp on Andrew’s phone from police custody. And she had to be the one to tell me that she’s going to prison.

[groans] Tate, I’m sorry.

You’re sorry?

Yeah.

You’re sorry. But you know what? I’m sorry too, and I think it’s great that we ran into each other, so now you can tell me why I didn’t hear from you.

Something going on with Brady?

I told you, he’s– he’s kind of been struggling with his sobriety.

Yeah, but you also said he’s going to meetings.

And that’s what I told Marlena. But what I didn’t tell her is that I caught him with a drink in his hand.

I see, and, uh, you– you think that you should have told her that too.

I don’t know. I mean, I don’t want her to worry unnecessarily. Do you think I’m making too much of this?

Well, you said you saw him with a drink in his hand, right? But you didn’t see him drink it?

No, because he didn’t.

Okay, then it’s all conjecture. And there’s really nothing to tell Marlena.

You’re right.

Wait, um, I’m sorry, I didn’t quite hear that.

Well, it’s too bad, because I’m never gonna say it again.

Oh, yeah?

Yeah.

I think you can say it again.

No. [laughs]

[soft music]

[sighs] Is this really necessary? I mean, I told ya. I got a clean bill of health in Poplar Bluff.

I’m sure they’re very competent there. But, you know, it wouldn’t hurt to get a second opinion.

And I promise you, it’ll be the same as the first. Hey. Rock-solid, perfectly fine.

I’m not. I’ve got a million questions. And if you’re feeling as well as you say you are, then maybe you could start to answer a few.

Are you calling my bluff, Doc? All right. Fire away.

I want to know who attacked you in Greece. And then I want to know why you were held so many miles away in Missouri.

[mysterious music]

[door clicks]

Jack.

Hey.

Abby. Abby!

[dramatic music]

Hey, why’d you drag me off like that?

You know damn well why. Tate and I can’t be seen together.

Oh, right.

Sophia, this has got to stop, okay? I feel really bad, and I apologized many times. Or I guess you could say I groveled, actually. So why do you have to continue? Once you caught Tate and me together, I agreed to take your shifts at the Bistro, which I’ve done. I’ve held up my end of the deal. So you don’t have to be such a bitch about it.

First of all, don’t call me a bitch. Second of all, you can’t seriously blame me for being upset when I haven’t even gotten paid. Or did you forget that part of the arrangement? You work my shifts, and I get the money.

Yeah, I didn’t forget. It’s just been a few weeks. I just got my first paycheck. I haven’t even deposited it yet.

[sighs] I guess that’s understandable.

Good, because I have to get back to Tate.

Ah-ah-ah, not so fast. What about tips?

[dark music]

You know, with my mom going to prison, I thought maybe, just maybe, I would hear from my father.

Look, I’m–Tate, I’m sorry. I haven’t really had the chance to–

Oh, my God. You haven’t had the chance? Gimme a break, Dad. Mom called me days ago about this. What have you been doing all this time?

I’ve–I’ve been busy here. But–

Busy? You’ve been–I’m sorry. You’ve been busy? That’s your excuse, busy? What could possibly be more important than telling your son something that completely changes my life? Do you understand how upset that makes me? My mother going to prison–

Yeah, I do. I do! How sad I am for me, for her–

Yes! Son! You’re right. You’re right. You’re right! I’m sorry. There’s no excuse. I shoulda called you. I shoulda called you. I just– You want to know the truth? The truth is, and this is not an excuse, this is more of a reason. Your father’s been a little messed up lately, okay?

Why? About Mom?

Partly. Tate, when she came back into town, I had hoped that she’d really committed to turning her life around, to becoming a stronger and a better person. So I’ve been really disappointed, terribly disappointed that she lost her way again.

You still love her, don’t you?

I’ll always care about her. And we will always be in each other’s lives because of you.

Because of me? Is that the only reason?

Tate, I don’t–we don’t– I don’t want to talk about this…

Dad, come on.

With you.

You and Mom are my parents. And I think that I have a right to know how you feel about each other.

Hey… I’ve been upset that she has been so self-destructive. But mostly, I’m upset for you, that you have to deal with the fact that your mom is going to prison, that she is just always been generally unstable.

Yeah, well, I don’t think that you were really thinking of me when I needed your support when I learned what Mom had done or how she’d self-destructed yet again.

You’re right, and like I said before, I have no excuse, none. But you should also know that your father is also in a constant, constant state of anxiety about your sister, Rachel, as well.

Why? What’s going on with–

What’s going on with Rachel is that she– Kristen is her mother, all right? And that Kristen has full custody of her, okay? I’m not only deprived of seeing my daughter on a regular basis, but I have to live with the fact that she is with this woman that is just morally vacant and corrupt. And then I beat the crap out of myself, son, because I– I can’t understand why I would let myself just get involved with two women that are so screwed up, right, and how is that gonna affect my kids, you and Rachel? I should–I’m sorry, man. I shouldn’t–I shouldn’t be saying this stuff to you. I sound–no, I sound self-pitying. All I want you to know is if I’m not there for ya as much as you think I should be, it’s just because your dad’s overwhelmed. I’m just struggling with all this. And I’m sorry–

I get it. I get it. It’s all right. Hey, it’s all right. I get it. How could anyone not be struggling with that? It’s a lot. Hey, look, I think you’re being too hard on yourself, first of all. I think you’re a really great, great person, Dad.

Thank you. [sniffles]

And, look, a lot of people make bad decisions about who they marry or have kids with. Look, half the movies I watch are about people in miserable relationships.

[laughs] True. It’s kind of a trend.

Yeah.

I feel–I feel bad sometimes for my kids, because their parents aren’t together and that their moms are messed up.

Hey, Dad.

Yeah.

Why don’t I just come back from camp for good? So we can–we can hang out, we can get through this tough time together. I just–I think it would be best for both of us. I want to come home.

[soft tense music]

[both exhale]

So that take the edge off?

I’m definitely feeling less tense.

[laughs] Good. [sighs]

Andrew, have I told you how much it means to me that you’re always there for me, even when you’re struggling with all your own stuff? I know you’re worried as hell about everything that’s going on with your sister.

Ah, I think I will be until that deal comes through.

But EJ’s agreed to it, hasn’t he? He’s gonna give Theresa a reduced sentence in exchange for her pleading guilty to Victoria’s kidnapping?

Yeah, he’s agreed to it. But, I mean, we’ve hammered out all the details. And until it’s official, I’m just– I’m just nervous he’s gonna renege on it. [phone ringing] That’s him.

Was that EJ?

EJ, what’s going on? Have you signed off on my sister’s deal?

Wish I had answers for you, Doc, but I don’t. I have no idea who attacked me. I told ya, I was at the cemetery. I was at Catharina’s grave. Next thing I know, just got whacked from behind.

You didn’t hear anything? You didn’t see anybody approaching?

Nothing, and the only person who’s been after me from Greece, that would be Konstantin. And, hell, he’s dead.

Well, maybe it wasn’t somebody from Greece.

[stirring music]

You thinkin’ it might have been somebody from Poplar Bluff?

I mean, why would they bring you all the way back there?

Yeah, the thought crossed my mind too, especially when Jack and Chad showed up looking for Abigail. I started wondering. Maybe what happened to me is all tied into her somehow.

[grunts]

Who are you?

It’s none of your business. Who the hell are you?

Chad, she’s the woman in the video. Can’t you see that?

Video? What video? What are you talking about? You guys have been filming me? What are you two– and stealing from me? That’s my bracelet.

This?

Yes, that.

Where did you get this?

Where did I get it? Why do you care?

Because it’s my wife’s.

Your wife’s?

Where did you get this?

Did you steal it?

No, I didn’t steal it. And it’s mine.

Where did you get that from?

I don’t remember.

What do you mean, you don’t remember?

I mean, I don’t remember much of anything.

[tense music]

[laughs] Damn it, I’ve done it again.

What? What you–

No, no. Here you are feeling sorry for me because I’ve made this about myself.

No–

Again.

No, I’m not feeling sorry for you. I just–I’m understanding what you’re going through. And, Dad, I want to be there for you.

Tate, I’m the dad in this thing, right? Okay, I’m supposed to be responsible. You–you’ve– you’re supposed to be the heartbroken one right now, because I have been selfish. I didn’t come to talk to you. I haven’t been there to comfort you. That’s the truth.

Yeah. Yeah. But, Dad, it’s okay. You’re going through a lot too. I get it.

Still, I should–I should have been more sensitive to your needs. And I want to–look, I want to be a better dad. [laughs] I just do. I’ma start right now. I’m gonna let you know exactly how I feel about you. Ready?

[laughs]

Son, I love you. You mean everything to me. And all I want is for your life to be just good. That’s it.

I love you too, Dad. And I want the same for you. And–[sighs] Look. we’re both obviously dealing with a lot right now. So I just–I do– I think it would be better if we were together, so we can help each other get through this. We need each other right now. And after everything happening this summer, I just think it would be better for both of us if I come home.

[gentle guitar music]

Why aren’t you saying anything?

Because as much as I hear you, and I do hear you, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I don’t think you should come home.

Here.

You sure this is everything? You’re not holding out on me, are you?

Come on. That’s a lot. And like I said, it’s only been a few weeks.

Okay, okay. And I gotta say, you must really like Tate. I mean, if you’re willing to work this hard for free just so I don’t rat you out.

Yeah, Sophia. I do really like Tate. Which is why I didn’t appreciate you trying to pull that stunt back there.

Just having a little fun.

Well, fun’s over. Now if you don’t mind, I have to go.

Speaking of fun… have you two, you know, done it yet?

[scoffs] That’s none of your business.

That’s a no, I take it.

Yeah, so?

So what are you waiting for?

You–come on, Dad. I don’t get it. I mean, look, even having this conversation with you, I feel closer to you, and I feel, I don’t know, less upset about Mom and about everything that’s happening.

I know.

And I think this is good.

Son, I feel good about it too, and I’m glad we talked. And I feel closer to you too.

Okay.

But I think for right now, I think we should stick to video chat and text. And you should stay at camp.

Video chat, come on. I mean, you know that it’s not the same thing.

I know it’s not the same. I know it’s not the same thing. But I think it’s important right now, for you to be there.

[sighs]

It’s a good experience. You’ll be home before you know it, and hey, from your texts, it sounds like you’re having a good time, aren’t ya?

I don’t know. Yeah, sure. But it’s not the same as being–

Tate, what’s up, man?

I thought you were at camp.

Hey, Paul, Andrew.

Hey, he, uh–yeah, he– he was worried about his mom. So he needed to come home.

Right. Of course. Yeah, well, I just heard from EJ. And, good news, he agreed to the deal. So your mother, my sister, is only gonna have to serve six months.

That’s great. What? That’s awesome. That’s great.

It is. It is. But, um, I’m afraid that she’s being transferred to Statesville immediately.

Okay. How immediately? I mean, like, I can see her before she goes, right?

Yeah, well, I was just headed down to the station. You’re free to join me if you want.

Of course I want to. Yes.

Yeah.

Uh, we’ll have this conversation later. I’ll call you.

Yeah. And, hey, I love you. All right.

I love you too.

And I’m sorry about your mom.

Thanks.

Go.

Bye. [Brady sighs]

Uh, so, Brady, I didn’t wanna say anything in front of Tate. He’s dealing with enough right now.

What’s going on?

I just got a call from Marlena. Dad’s in the hospital.

It’s just too much of a strange coincidence that all of the evidence that Jack and Chad used to track down Abigail led straight to me. I don’t know, maybe my–my head is just spinning with the possibility that Abigail is still alive. But how can that be? I mean, the night that Chad found her, my God, the way he described it.

Such a horrible tragedy.

[intriguing music]

They showed me a video of that girl, the one that Clyde gave ’em.

All right. Could that have been Abigail?

Couldn’t see her face.

Oh.

So the truth is, hell, it could have been anybody.

What do you mean? What, are you saying you lost your memory?

If you must know, I was in a really bad accident a couple years ago. When I woke up, I-I couldn’t remember what happened. I couldn’t remember much of anything. And I would have, like, images, you know, snapshots of what must be memories, I don’t know, but nothing concrete. And then worse than that, my entire face was completely messed up. I had to go through all these surgeries. I don’t even know if this is what I really look like.

Did you have any kind of ID, something that might lead you to an idea of who you could be?

No, no, none of that. And the doctors, they–I mean, they said they did their best to reconstruct my face, but ever since then, I-I feel like that I’ve been living someone else’s life. I look in the mirror, I don’t know who that woman is. I don’t know–know who she is.

[suspenseful music]

We might.

Okay, so–so you really think I could be this Abigail person?

As hard as it is to believe, you could be. You could be my daughter.

And my wife. We lost her two years ago, which lines up with when you lost your memory.

Okay, but–but–but I was in an accident. I wasn’t stabbed.

How do you know if you don’t remember?

Well, there was a man at the hospital. When I woke up, he told me everything that happened and I–

Was his name Clyde?

Yes. As a matter of fact, it was.

[gentle mysterious music]

So you’ve got this romantic hideaway, and you haven’t had sex yet? What’s wrong with you?

Nothing’s wrong with me or with Tate. And it’s not like we get to spend much time together anyways, since I’m covering all your shifts at the Bistro.

Oh, please. If you wanted to, you’d find the time. Trust me. Unless you guys don’t really want to. Or maybe Tate’s gay.

He’s not gay.

How do you know? He does have a gay uncle, doesn’t he? Maybe he’s got the gay gene.

Tate’s not gay.

[laughs] Whoa, pump the brakes there, Holly. I didn’t realize you had such a problem with gay people.

Stop. You know I don’t. It’s just, I know my boyfriend isn’t.

You’re probably right. I mean, he did get you guys that hotel room on prom night. Maybe he just changed his mind about you.

Tate hasn’t changed his mind about me. He’s just–he’s going through a lot right now.

Like how he doesn’t want to have sex with his girlfriend?

Like the fact that his mother is going to prison.

Oh, I guess that would be kind of a mood killer. And so unlike every other teenage boy in America, he’s probably not thinking about sex, which is why you’ll probably have to make the first move.

Would you just stop? Okay, why are you being like this? It’s none of your business what happens between me and Tate. Got it? None of your damn business. Now I need to get back to the square.

Oh.

Dad.

Oh, hey, Paul.

Dad.

Oh, kid.

You all right?

Hey. Hey How you doing, Dad?

[laughs]

Uh, Paul said that you got dizzy.

Oh–

And what happened?

Doc just thought I should get checked out again, you know, here at the hospital to be on the safe side. But you know what? I’m feeling a hell of a lot better right now, seeing your two handsome faces.

[laughs] We’re just glad to have you home safe and sound.

Yeah, man. We’ve been really worried about ya, as I’m sure you can imagine.

What’s important is that we are all together right here, right now. So–

Yeah.

I’m fine. No more worry. And catch up. What’s going on? How’s Andrew doing?

He’s been great.

And he’s gonna be a lot better knowing that you’re– you’re good now.

Good to hear. Good to hear. Nice.

Yeah.

And what’s going on with the grandkids? Let’s start with little Rach.

Rachel’s good. Rachel’s–she’s fine.

All right. Tate, let’s go.

Tate is, uh– Dad, there’s–there’s– there’s a lot to talk about.

Hey, Uncle Andrew, I just– I wanted to say thank you for everything you’ve done for my mom, if I haven’t already told you.

You have thanked me, Tate, multiple times. Hey, I know this has been really hard for you. It’s been hard for me too, knowing that my sister is going through such a rough time. And, hey, you know, she’s gotten into a lot of trouble. But deep down, she’s– she’s a really good person. And most importantly, she loves you.

I love her too.

I’ll go see if they’re ready.

Okay, thanks. [phone rings] Holly? – Tate. Thank God. Where are you?

I’m actually at the police station.

Your dad had you arrested?

[chuckles] No. No, he can be a little extreme. but I don’t think he’d have me thrown in the slammer, just lacrosse camp.

Well, did he figure out why you’re here? Are we busted?

No. No, I told him that I’m here to see my mother, which actually now is kind of true, because I found out that she’s getting transferred to Statesville today. So I’m at the police station to say goodbye to her before she goes.

[somber music]

Okay, Tate. They’re ready for you.

I gotta go. I’ll meet up with you when I’m gone, okay?

Yeah. Yeah, that’s him. He told me bad people caused my accident. And they might still be after me. He brought me here to hide out, said that I would be safe. And then he disappeared. And a friend of his took care of me for a long time after that, a woman.

Was her last name Goldman, by chance?

Yes, Goldman. Oh, my God. It’s like you know more about this than I do.

This could be her, Jack.

Mm-hmm.

Anyway, um, she told me that Clyde was going to come back. But then she disappeared. I got tired of sitting around waiting for something to happen. So I took off looking for them a couple of weeks ago.

That’s why she wasn’t here when we found John.

Who’s John?

It’s not important right now. What’s important is, you don’t believe a word that Clyde Weston says. Uh, he led me to a video of you pacing around this room. And he–he told me it was my wife and that she was still alive.

Well, how do you know he’s not lying to you?

We don’t. Now he’s back in prison in solitary confinement. And we can’t talk to him.

But there’s another way for us to find out who you really are.

Which is?

You come home with us.

Hey, bud. Did you make it to the airport?

Yeah, sure did. I’m actually standing at the gate now.

Okay. Well, safe travels. And you call me when you get there, all right?

Okay, Dad. I will. Um, I love you.

I love you too, and, Tate, um, I promise you, I’m gonna be much more sensitive to what you’re going through, okay? I promise you that.

Hey, you’re going through a lot too. It’s all right. I, uh, better go.

All right, I’ll see you. Text me when you land.

I sure will.

Hi.

Hi.

How are you doing?

Uh, it’s been a crazy day. But I’m all right. I’m just glad I got to say goodbye to my mom.

How was that?

Uh, it was hard. I didn’t really know what to say. I mean, how do you say goodbye to your mom before she goes to prison for six months?

Well, I’m sure you said all the right things. And she knows how you feel. She knows that you love her, Tate.

I’m all right. Thank you. And now my dad thinks I’m on my way back to camp.

Yeah, talk about close calls.

Yeah. Seriously, I thought he caught me.

Oh, by the way, I had a little run-in with Sophia.

Oh, no, she’s not gonna out us, is she?

No. Not yet, at least. She’s just being really mean. But I handled it. I’ll tell you all about it on the ferry.

All right.

Okay. Let’s go.

Where’s Tate?

Oh, he just left. But, hey, at least he got a chance to say goodbye to his mom.

That’s good. And I’m sure that was very tough for him. Did you want to spend more time with her?

Uh, no, actually, the prison transport just left too.

How are you feeling?

I’m okay. Uh, I’m sorry. How’s your dad?

Oh, he’s okay too.

Thank God. So now you can at least stop worrying about him?

Yeah, I guess. I’d just feel a whole lot better if I knew what actually happened to him. – It’s good to see the boys.

And I can tell you’re feeling a lot stronger.

Hmm. Then why do you look so worried, Doc?

I’m worried because I still don’t know exactly how you ended up in Poplar Bluff.

Well, we’ll figure that out at some point, unless Jack and Chad get to the bottom of it first.

[laughing] You expect me to just come with you to Salem?

We have a plane waiting. Yeah.

Well, and how do I know that this is not some trick, that you aren’t the ones that Clyde warned me about to begin with?

We’re not. We mean you no harm, I swear.

Oh, thanks, Scout’s honor?

This isn’t a joke to us. He lost his daughter. I lost my wife. Don’t you want to remember who you lost? I promise you, we’re not gonna hurt you, okay? We just want to help you figure out who you are. That’s it.

[tense music]

Well, okay. But if you lay one finger on me, you’re a dead man.

In Steffi’s office, Carter tells Hope it is great news for the company. Hope can’t get over it. Carter says he knows Hope has been stressed about work lately. He says he knows Steffi has been riding Hope a little but is stressed out too. She is carrying the family legacy, and it is up to her to ensure the company’s health well into the future. Hope counters that a leader can be strong without being cruel, pointing to him as an example. He says it isn’t his name on the building. He doesn’t think Steffi is being cruel but pragmatic. He tells her that her mother’s success is good for everyone. She says that’s what she has been saying. He agrees that she is right. He notes that the increased Web traffic will help all of the collections and has already boosted the bottom line, which will help everyone. Hope says that according to Steffi, Hope’s line is hanging by a thread. Carter hopes that Brooke’s Bedroom can give Hope for the Future a lifeline. He says he realizes there has been tension between Hope and Steffy. Hope is glad someone else sees it. She says she doesn’t like feeling like she is constantly under attack. She says she enjoys working at Forrester and she wants to contribute to its success, but it is difficult when she constantly feels like she is being undermined. She says she is trying to keep things from getting more complicated.

St Steffi and Finn’s house, Steffi relaxes on the sofa. Finn tells her dinner is ready. She says it sounds delicious but she doesn’t feel like moving. She just wants to sit there with Finn and listen to the sound of the ocean. He hopes she is feeling less stressed now. She says she has been feeling as though she has been fighting this battle alone, and she hopes that changes. He says he knows Brookes Bedroom relaunch brought up a lot of old resentments. She says she doesn’t want to deal with that energy or talk about the Forresters versus the Logans. He says he just wants her to know that he understands and will always be there for her.

On the jet, Ridge and Brooke continue discussing the success of the campaign. Ridge insists it is because Brooke is the face of it. She thanks him for presenting the opportunity for her to prove herself again. He says she is a part of his world that he never wants to let go.

Hope recalls a conversation with Steffi where Steffi asks her just how Hope is going to cut Steffi down to size. Hope then recalls a conversation with Finn when Finn compliments her and tells her that she deserves the best.

Hope and Finn are kissing on the sofa. Finn wants to take it to the bedroom, but Steffi doesn’t want to rush. She wants to make it last all night. She says the last few months have been stressful and that it is nice to take the time to stop and appreciate special moments like this one. She says she doesn’t need much. Just knowing that he is devoted to her is enough, and she will give him the same. He says she has made him the luckiest man in the world. He showers her with compliments. She says she is never going to let this go and adds that nothing is stronger than their love for each other. They kiss and cuddle on the couch.

Recap written by Eva

Connor tells Adam and Chelsea that he was able to stop his OCD thoughts last night when he woke up in his room and thought he was still at the inpatient treatment center in Baltimore. Connor tells his parents that he remembered what they taught him at the treatment center and he waited for the OCD thoughts to go away.

Adam and Chelsea feel even more guilty about their one-night stand in Baltimore because Billy and Sally are being so supportive while they deal with Connor’s OCD. Adam and Chelsea also worry that Billy won’t give up until he finds out what happened in Baltimore. Adam asks Billy to stay away from Chelsea and Connor until they get settled back home. Billy tells Adam he will do whatever Chelsea wants him to do. Billy is even more suspicious that Adam and Chelsea are hiding something and he is going to find the truth.

Billy tells Lily that he will temporarily be a silent partner in Abbott-Chancellor until Victor stops wanting to takeover the company. Billy tells Lily that once they make the company a success together, they will let everyone know that he and Lily were working together the whole time.

Kyle decides not to go meet Audra in Paris and stay home because he doesn’t trust Summer since she didn’t call to tell him Harrison was sick. Kyle decides to accelerate the custody case so he can put an end to this tense situation.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[dramatic music]

[inhales sharply] [groans]

Ooh.

Good morning, sleepyhead.

Oh– oh, God. Xander’s mom.

[laughs]

And it really happened last night, didn’t it?

[suspenseful music]

Ooh, looks like someone is making himself at home.

Hello, you.

Hello, you. Does the very busy CEO have time for his once and future wife?

Mm, I’m sure I can squeeze you in.

Mm.

[gentle music]

[sighs] [phone rings] Tate? Hello. Tate, are you there? [sighs] Reception at the Horton cabin blows. Tate, can you hear me?

[clears throat]

Grandma!

[dramatic music]

All right. Here you are.

Well, Abe, who would have thought that producing episodes of daytime drama a year would be such hard work?

[chuckles] Well, we got a jump on casting. And I feel sure that our new Charlemagne is honing her craft as we speak.

[tense music]

OK, it says Charlemagne is on a one-way call.

What the heck is a one-way call? [clears throat]

“Into phone.” Oh, wait. I guess I’m not supposed to say that part out loud. Oh, come on, Hattie. Come on. Focus. Focus. [sighs] “Don’t worry, darling. “Everything is going according to plan. “All that’s left is for you to kill my husband, and then we can finally be together.”

Oh, my God!

[jazzy music] Marlena, are you planning to murder John?

Bonnie Lockhart, you are a sight for these old peepers.

My God, how could you? What is it, Marlena, gambling debts, a young lover, what?

Boy, you better get yourself some new peepers ’cause you know what? I’m not Marlena.

What do you mean you’re not Mar– [gasps] Oh, my God in heaven, it’s you.

It’s–yeah.

Satan! [gasps] You’ve possessed Marlena again! Oh, God!

Oh, for the love of pickled herring, girl. Come on, I’m not that shrink, and I’m not Satan. I’m your old pal Hattie Adams!

Oh! [laughing] Oh!

Mm, you know I’ve always got time for you.

Mm.

How did you know I was here?

I ran into Justin. So seems like you decided to stake your claim on Victor’s legacy after all.

[sighing] Yeah. And how do you feel about that?

I just want you to be happy. But the last that we spoke about it, you were set to turn it down. What changed your mind?

Believe it or not, but it was my mum.

[dramatic music]

And I do have a name, you know, other than Xander’s mum.

I just– I’m sorry. I know it’s Fiona. Fiona.

And I’m curious. Exactly which part of having done it with Xander’s mum is so upsetting? Or is it ’cause you’re related?

No, no. It’s just–I don’t give a damn that Xander is my– oh, my God, he’s my uncle. I guess he’s my uncle now. The fact is that he’s just–

What? You can say it.

I’m just trying to come up with a tactful way to say it. He’s–

I’m waiting.

What is so upsetting is the fact that my son is–

OK, Fiona. Here, screw the tact. He’s a total creep.

Sorry.

Grandma, hi. I didn’t hear you come in.

Hi.

Would you like some coffee or tea?

Tea. Tea would be lovely.

Hot tea, coming right up. Anything in it?

No, thank you. Thank you, sweetie.

Of course.

You sounded like you were having quite an urgent conversation when I came in. Is everything all right?

Yeah. I was just talking to my friend Sophia.

Sophia?

Mm-hmm. She was seeing if I could cover one of her shifts tonight, but her reception’s terrible. It’s frustrating, you know?

Yeah, I can imagine. Just out of curiosity, why would you call your friend Sophia… Tate?

So does this mean you and your mom are on good terms?

We’re working on it. I mean, I don’t know if I’ll ever be totally over her abandoning me as a child and lying to me about my father, but… yeah, we’ve found a way to move forward.

Good. I’m glad. Because we’re gonna need her as a witness.

Witness for what?

Listen, I don’t know if it’s just seeing you sitting here on this desk where you belong or if it’s that I’ve been up for hours straight, but I want to get married.

As do I, my love.

No. I mean today.

[soft music]

So you think my son’s a total creep?

No– [sighs] Fiona, I was– look, I’m trying to come up with something that was a little more tactful, but I couldn’t come up with a euphemism for creep, all right, so I tried to be less offensive. Sorry.

No, no, it’s fine. Actually, I appreciate your honesty. But tell me, why do you have such a low opinion of him?

I don’t think we need to get into that. Listen, I’m gonna jump in the shower and get to work, OK?

No, no, no. Wait, wait, wait.

Wait, what?

I’d really like to know exactly what Xander did to you.

[sighs] Fiona, I don’t see why we need to dredge all this up. I really don’t.

I want to know, Brady.

[sighs] All right. For starters, he shot me.

[scoffs] He did what?

Yeah, he shot me. Oh, he also shot my stepmother, and she almost died.

[sighs]

Does that answer your question pretty well?

[dramatic music]

Hattie Adams, is it really you?

What do you mean? You don’t recognize your old cell block sister?

Oh, I’ve just been thinking about you so much lately and all the good times we had. Oh, goodness. Come here. Oh! Oh, it’s so darn good to see you. [sighs]

It’s so good to see you too.

Oh. [gasps] Oh, wait. You’re married?

Me? No. No, I’m still single and cruising. Why?

You were talking about killing your husband.

[gasps] Oh! Oh, no, no, no, no. No, no, honey, that’s a line from this script.

[gasps] Whoa! What, script like a movie script?

Well, no, it’s actually just a TV script. Yeah. ‘Cause, Bonnie, I’m gonna be a soap star.

[gasps] [both squeal]

[groans] Abe. Are you really set on hiring Hattie to play Charlemagne?

Yeah. I think she’s perfect. She’s bold. She’s brash. She’s unpredictable.

OK. You know that I’m fond of the woman. I am. But frankly, Abe, she can’t act.

She fooled the whole town into thinking she was Marlena. I have faith that she’s gonna figure this out.

Mm-hmm. She better.

Well, look. We have to focus on filling out the rest of the cast, so… well, are you sure you won’t consider playing Lorna?

OK, for the very last time, I am not going to play Lorna DeLorean, OK? We’re just gonna have to find someone else.

Oh, that sounds like my cue.

[quirky music]

I’m really sorry for lying to you, Grandma.

So you were talking to Tate.

Yeah, I just–

Mm.

I wanted to see how he was doing at that lacrosse camp his parents sent him to. Look, I know we’re not supposed to be talking, but I just really miss him.

I understand. And if were up to me, I wouldn’t have come down so hard on you two.

Really?

Mm-hmm. But it wasn’t up to me. You lied to your parents. And they have every right to keep you safe.

Safe from what, our feelings for each other? It’s just so unfair. I don’t get why they won’t let us be together.

Well, you have to admit you made some bad decisions. And throw in that sneaking around–

Well, we didn’t really have a choice.

Well, all I can say is, the best way to change their mind is to prove to them that you can be trusted. So keep your distance. And maybe they will change their mind.

OK.

OK.

So you’re not gonna tell them about this, then, the phone call?

Mm-mm. I’m not gonna say anything. But from now on, I want you to be honest with me, OK?

OK.

OK. Well, I better…

Thanks, Grandma.

Check with Henderson and see if he’s packed Victoria’s things. I’m taking her home to her mommy. And I’ll see you later, OK?

OK.

All right.

[sighs]

[line ringing] Come on, Tate. Pick up. Where’d you go? [sighs]

[soft music]

I’m right here.

[chuckles]

I don’t know where to begin apologizing for all the heinous things that my son has done to you and your family.

Stop. How could any of that be your fault?

Oh, how can it not, at least partly? I wasn’t there when he was growing up. [sighs] I can’t help but take my share of the responsibility for how he turned out.

Fiona. Parents make mistakes.

Are you speaking from experience?

Oh, yeah. Yeah, my son spent most of his childhood across the country with his mother. I’ve been trying to make up for that and try to be the best father I can be.

How’s it working out?

It’s complicated. I just had to send him to summer camp recently just to straighten him out, keep him out of trouble. Is it gonna work? I don’t know. Maybe.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I’m trying to make up for lost time with Xander too. Falling out with him was the biggest regret of my life. [sighs] And I know you think he’s a creep.

But he’s your son. Well, you know, I know better than anybody that people can change. And he’s got a great fiancée in Sarah Horton. And he’s a dad. Don’t worry about it. The word on the street is, he’s trying to… turn his life around.

Thank you. Now go and take that shower.

Mm, all right.

[sighs]

You want to get married today?

Why not? Unless you have a reason that we should wait, hmm? Speak now, or forever hold your peace.

[inhales sharply] Course not! I want to marry you more than anything in the world. The sooner I make you my wife, the better.

Great. I’m gonna go home and get ready, then.

Well, don’t you think you should have a wee nap first?

Nope. I may be running on fumes and love, but I am champing at the bit to marry the love of my life.

Mm.

Then we can start our life as husband and wife.

[sighs]

Ooh-whee, this stuff is rich. Baby switches, weather machines. [laughter]

Hey, look, you can’t say a word about the fact that I let you see this, ’cause I mean, this is top secret.

Oh, come on. What do I look like? I know spoilers.

Yeah, well, Abe and Kate are really serious about that.

My lips are sealed. [chuckles] But I can’t wait to see it on TV. Girl, you’re gonna kill it. And by kill, I mean your fictional husband. [laughs]

Good one!

Seriously, I am so jazzed for you. Oh, Hattie, your ship has finally come in. You’re gonna be a bona fide soap star! [laughs]

Well, let’s just wait till I’m asked to sign my first autograph. [laughter]

Although I think nowadays they do the posing thing of the selfie, so maybe work on your poses.

What a good idea.

[laughs] So who are your castmates? Have you met them?

No, no, not yet. They still have to cast them because they’re looking for a Lorna and a Kassandra character.

Kassandra, no! No! That is my all-time favorite character! [laughs]

Oh. Well, they wanted Dr. Kayla to do it, but she said no way. But can you imagine, one of Salem’s finest citizens being in a soap opera?

Yeah, imagine that. [laughs] Imagine.

[chuckles]

Leo?

Ah-ta-ta-ta-ta. It’s Lorna DeLorean, and I am ready for my close-up. [sniffs] Is this where we’re gonna be reading? Not exactly Universal Studios, is it?

[clears throat] I’m sorry. Why are you here?

I just told you. I’m here to read for the role of Lorna.

OK, so you do understand that this is an audition for “Body & Soul,” not “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” correct?

Ha-ha. I know what this is. I’m perfect for this role.

Except Lorna is a woman.

[clears throat]

And you are a man.

Have you never seen “Tootsie”? I can play this role as well as any woman–better, in fact. And I will have you know that during Shakespeare’s time, the men played the male and the female parts.

Because women weren’t allowed to act.

Whatever, if it was good enough for the Bard, it’s good enough for “Body & Soul.”

[sighs] Would you excuse us a moment?

[quirky music]

Mm-hmm?

Maybe we should let him read.

Why?

[chuckles]

Because we don’t need– the last thing you need is a gender discrimination lawsuit. And this litigious jerk almost took Titan down a while back.

You’re serious?

It’s only an audition.

[sighs] All right. Stark, you can read for the part.

Yay! OK, if I may–before I knock this out of the park– share with you that in his masterpiece “Hamlet,” the aforementioned Bard had his title character explain to a group of actors that the purpose of playing is to hold as ’twere a mirror up to nature, to show virtue its feature, scorn its own image, and the very age and body of the time its form and pressure. [inhales deeply] In other words, Hamlet was proposing that what we see onstage reflect what is real in our lives and the world, mm.

Yeah, right. Break a leg or something.

Thank you. First, some vocal exercises. Red leather, yellow leather. Red leather, yellow leather. Red leather, yellow leather. Red leather, yellow leather. Red leather, yellow leather. Red leather. Red leather, yellow leather. [phone ringing]

Hello, darling.

Mum, hi. I was just wondering if you were busy this afternoon.

I have some free time. What’s going on?

Well, I thought maybe you’d like to… witness your son remarrying the love of his life.

[sighs] Shower’s all yours.

[tense music]

Mum, who was that?

Tate?

That’s me.

Hi. What are you doing here? Do you have any idea how much trouble you’re gonna be in?

I had to come.

OK, I know. I missed you too, but–

No, no, I had to come because I locked myself out of the Horton cabin, and I need your grandma’s key to get myself back in.

[dramatic music]

Someone missed their mommy.

[sighs] I’m sorry I was so late.

Oh, it’s no problem at all.

[chuckles]

Listen, you must be so exhausted, having pulled a double shift.

[chuckles]

Why don’t I stay and watch our girl while you get some sleep?

Well, I very much want you to stay.

Mm.

But there’s no time for sleep.

Oh. And why is that?

Well, because Victoria’s mommy and daddy are getting married today.

What?

[chuckles]

Oh!

Mum, who’s there with you?

[chuckles] Well, if you must know, I had another delightful evening with my charming new friend.

[sultry music]

OK. Now I’d love to change the subject, if that’s all right with you. Do you think you can make it to the wedding?

Of course. I wouldn’t dream of missing it.

Fantastic. Oh, and feel free to bring your new friend along. I’d love to meet him.

Well, I think it’s a bit early in the relationship for me to be introducing him to my family.

Well, the invitation stands if you change your mind. But we’ll see you at the apartment this afternoon?

Oh, I’ll be there with bells on.

[laughs] I really thought you were gonna tell him the truth.

Oh. [phone ringing]

It’s Xander. Oh, my– did he recognize my voice?

[sighs] Well, he didn’t say anything, but perhaps he was testing me?

[sighs] Well, this ought to be fun.

Oh, don’t you dare be a raging hypocrite with me, Thrust, not after you did the nasty with my mother! Oh, I hope you don’t mind I did a little rewrite. I found the script to be a bit pedestrian.

Pedestrian.

Keep going.

OK, where was I? Oh, yeah. [mumbling indistinctly] Not after you did the nasty with my mother! OK, yes, I may have slept with your twin brother and your father and your father’s twin brother, but that does not mean I am the filthy, wanton trollop that Charlemagne and all the other fat-ankled denizens of this nondescript Midwestern burg think I am.

[quirky music]

Nondescript?

I am a woman, Thrust! And I have the right to experience everything this life has to offer with my body and my soul. [inhales sharply]

Oh, my God, is it over?

Oh, God, God, please, please, please let it be over.

And scene. [chuckles] So? [exhales sharply]

Dude, why would you lock the door while going out for a jog? There’s no crime up there.

I know. I know. It was just a force of habit.

And you know what? You shouldn’t be out jogging around the island anyways. What if one of the townies saw you and called my grandma or Julie?

I get it. I get it. I don’t know. I just–I had to get out. I was going stir-crazy up there.

Seriously, you have to get out of here.

OK.

Grandma’s right upstairs.

OK, but do you think you can sneak her key for me?

But what if she notices it’s gone?

It’s OK; I’ll go to town, I’ll get a copy made, and I’ll bring back the original.

Mm, I have a better idea. I don’t have work until tonight. So what if I came up with you to the cabin, we spend the day together, and I’ll bring the key back?

I like the sound of that.

Perfect. [chuckles]

[soft music] [phone rings]

Just answer it!

Xander, what’s up?

Where are you right now?

Why do you care?

Lose the attitude, mate, especially since we’re gonna be working together again. Or more accurately, you’re gonna be working for me.

[tense music]

You’re back at Titan as CEO?

You didn’t see the press release? [sighs] Yes, I’m back, and I need you to take a meeting for me. A high-end tech company on the West Coast wants to make AI-enhanced metaverses featuring Titan publications and product lines.

OK, what does that have to do with Basic Black?

Nothing, but Sarah and I are getting married today. Just a small ceremony with Maggie and my mum in attendance.

Well, congrats to you.

Thanks, mate. But it really would put everyone at ease if there was a family member at that meeting. Can I count on you to take care of it?

Sure. Consider it my wedding present.

[chuckles] Appreciate it. Thanks, mate.

Well, Xander, I’m not doing it for you. I’m doing it for Sarah and Maggie and anybody else who’s had the misfortune of loving you.

See? You were worried about nothing. Our little rendezvous stays between us.

I guess so. Listen, I better go. I better get to the office and prep for this meeting.

Yes, and I need to transform myself into a suitable mother-in-law.

Yeah. Fiona, wait. Come here.

[dramatic music]

Last night, that was actually really great.

Yes, it was. Perhaps we can do it again sometime.

Maybe we can.

Our little angel fell asleep as soon as I put her down.

Oh, good. Come and sit. Tell me all about Xander and Titan. What did Fiona say to convince him to accept Victor’s bequest?

It just–it sounds like she helped him embrace Victor’s legacy and see how he can make it his own. Honestly, I’m surprised that she’s the one that got through to him, given how angry he was with her at the wedding.

And with good reason.

Mm.

Mm. I am happy, though, that they’re getting along. Xander’s gonna need his whole family to help him get– well, to navigate his new life.

Mm-hmm. Which is why we want to make our little family official.

Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

So what do you say? You want to perform a wedding?

I say that I have been waiting for this a long time.

[squeals]

Yay! [laughter] Oh, my darling.

I love you, Mommy. [laughter] [camera clicking]

Oh, that’s it. That’s it.

I’m posting that one. I’m posting that one.

You know what? You know what? They’re all good. Just post them all.

Why not? Besides which, you used to serve hash in this very pub, and now your name’s gonna be in lights!

Oh, Bon, you’re gonna make me blush.

[laughs] You just remember me when you win your first Oscar, girl.

Oh, yeah. You know, a guy just made that mistake on TV. I mean, it’s not an Oscar. It’s an Emmy.

Oh, whatever. [laughs] You know all the big movie stars began their careers on soaps? That Meg Ryan and Angela Bassett, Julianne Moore, Brad Pitt. [laughs]

Oh, breathe hard.

I know, right? Oh, and that pretty lady from that show “Our House” with the Quaker Oats guy. Mm. And now the name Hattie Adams is gonna be right up there with them. Mm-hmm. [laughter]

Well? Why so slow with the reviews? What did you think? [sighs]

It was– Well, it was certainly–

It was certainly terrible.

Mm.

It was painful, actually.

Ugh! How dare you? I opened up a metaphorical vein and poured my entire essence out for you people.

Let’s keep our essences to ourselves, huh?

It’s not my fault that this script is not worthy to lie in a peacock’s birdcage. I mean, who wrote this crap?

Well, we are in the process of looking for a new head writer.

Actually, I am hopeful that Will will consider taking over the writers’ room, you know, at least consulting.

Oh.

That hack? I mean, Wilhelmina will probably just recycle storylines from that hideous Christmas movie of his.

[laughs] So you actually think that insulting my grandson is going to incline me to cast you?

Oh, I’m just teasing. Your grandson is very charming and quite talented, but his fee must be ginormous. There’s no way you could afford him, not even with the granny discount.

He does have a valid point there.

Oh, come on. You’re not actually thinking of hiring Leo Stark to write for us.

[quirky music]

He’s within our budget. And Lady Whistleblower does have a way with words.

Oh, my God. I give up. I give up. Here.

What’s this?

That’s a breakdown, which is an outline of a “Body & Soul” script. You take it home, you read it, and you turn it into an actual script. And if it’s decent, Abe and I might consider maybe offering you a trial deal to write for us.

A trial deal?

Mm.

Like another audition?

Take it or leave it, Stark.

Fine, I’ll take it. But be prepared to be blown away. I am going to pen a soap opera script worthy of all the late greats– Irna, Agnes, Bill, Betty, and Ted. You just wait and see.

What the hell have we gotten ourselves into?

[chuckles]

[light music]

Oh, there’s my best girl.

[laughs] Hey. Listen, I think there are two women in this apartment that are ahead of me on that list.

I’m just delighted to see you. So are you ready to marry me off to your daughter yet again?

I am. I am. I am. And I hear your mother is on her way.

Yeah, it seems like a step in the right direction.

I’ll say, considering she was able to convince you to take your rightful place at Titan.

You heard about that?

Mm-hmm. I think Victor would be very pleased, wherever he is. [knock at door] [chuckles]

Mum! You look fantastic.

Thank you very much.

Hello, Fiona.

Oh, Maggie.

Oh, darling.

It’s so lovely to see you on such a happy day.

Thank you. [laughs]

No plus-one?

Oh, no, I explained your gracious invitation to my friend, and he agreed it’s far too soon for us to meet each other’s families. Xander, your flat is quite charming, but I assume that you’ll be moving into the mansion with your young family after the wedding.

Oh, well–

[gentle music]

[chuckles]

I don’t need a mansion as long as I’ve got my beautiful bride. My true home is… in Sarah’s heart.

Mm. And mine is in yours.

Xander, will you stop gaping and change and we can have ourselves a wedding? [laughter]

I will come to your wedding over your dead body, Kassandra.

Oh, goodness.

Oh! Hey, girlfriend!

Hey, you.

Are you rushing off somewhere? Never mind. I’m sure you’re busy.

Yeah, yeah. Well, anyway.

Wait, wait, wait, wait. If you’re not busy later– I mean tonight–would you– would you want to come over and watch “Drag Race” with me?

“Drag Race”? Hell yeah.

Great. Great. It’s a date. OK, Salem Inn, room . I’ll see you around 😕

around :. , :. Sure, I got it. [chuckles]

[upbeat music] Who the hell was that?

Well, our little show is turning out to be a motley crew of thieves and scammers.

That’s a little harsh, don’t you think?

No, no. Actually, I don’t. I mean, you convinced me to cast Hattie. And now we’re actually considering hiring Leo Stark to write for us.

Well, think of it this way, Kate. There’ll never be a dull moment on the air or behind the scenes.

Oh, God, I just want to find a sane and talented thespian to play the role of Kassandra. That’s it. You know, we have some of the best local theater talent coming by this afternoon to read for us.

Well, you can just cancel that cattle call, Katie, hon, because I was born to play Kassandra Lovegood.

[jazzy music]

OK. You find someplace to stay hidden, and I’ll get us tickets for the Smith Island Ferry.

Deal.

[soft music] Bye.

Bye.

Yeah, I’m headed back to the office. Just make sure the conference room is ready for the meeting, all right? All right, thank you. Oh, sorry.

Sorry.

Tate?

[suspenseful music]

Hey, Dad.

Xander, you said you wanted to say something before we moved on to the official vows?

I would, yeah. I do. Sorry. That’s for later, isn’t it? I’m just– I’m a little nervous.

It’s all right, darling. Take your time.

[sighs]

[romantic music] Sarah, if I started listing all the reasons that I’m not worthy of you, well, we’d be here until next week.

[chuckles]

And just the fact that you’re stood here, ready and willing to give me yet another chance, it’s proof that I’ve received more of God’s grace than I ever expected in this life.

I’m not gonna promise that I will never mess up again, because you know me.

[laughs]

Obviously I’m gonna mess up repeatedly.

But I do vow that I will strive every day to be completely and utterly honest with you, putting you, our daughter, our family, and our abiding love first, always.

Sarah, would you like to say something?

Xander, you talk about how you don’t deserve me. And I mean, yeah, you have made mistakes, huge mistakes.

But sometimes I think that I’m the one that doesn’t deserve you. Because what did I do in this lifetime or in , lifetimes to have a man who loves me so much that he would be willing to do anything for me, legal or otherwise?

I can’t promise that I will never get mad at you if you mess up, because, well, you know me too, so… [laughs]

But I vow that I will never take the easy way out again. I will stay and fight for our marriage, for our family, for our love. Xander, you are so worth it. We are worth it.

[clears throat] Just give me a second to get ahold of myself. OK. [sniffles] OK. OK, I can do this. [laughter] Do you, Alexander, take Sarah to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for richer, for poorer…

As long as you both shall live?

I do.

[laughs]

Do you, Sarah, take Alexander to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, for richer, for poorer…

As long as you both shall live?

Hell yes, I do. [laughs]

I assume you both have rings.

Yes, yes.

We have, yes.

Mom?

Yes. [nervous laughter]

[sighs]

[laughs]

And now by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you, once again and at long last, husband and wife.

Well, what are you waiting for? Kiss your bride.

You heard your mother.

Gladly! [laughter]

Update written by Joseph

Alex returns to his old apartment and runs in to Stephanie in the hallway. Alex greets her and thought she was moving out months ago. Stephanie says she was, but after Chad left, she decided to move back. Stephanie asks what Alex is doing there. Alex reveals that he’s moving back in too.

Ava goes to the Bistro to see Stefan.

At the hospital, Gabi sits at Rafe’s side while he remains in a coma. Gabi talks about trying the tender love and care routine, but he’s still not waking up and she’s started to get really frustrated. Gabi says she may have to move on to tough love and he won’t like that. Johnny then appears in the room and calls Gabi the toughest person he knows.

Paulina goes to Jada’s office at the police station. Jada mentions not realizing how late it was. Paulina says it looks like she’s gotten settled in to the commissioner position. Jada assures it’s still Rafe’s position when he comes back but she’s doing her best. Paulina asks about the new developments with Rafe’s stabbing. Jada confirms there are but there are no changes in Rafe’s condition. Paulina assumes the break in the case has something to do with the suspect she told her about. Jada reveals that he’s no longer a suspect as it’s been confirmed that Everett Lynch was the one who attacked Rafe.

Connie goes home with a bottle of wine and talks to her vision of Li. Connie talks about being in a good mood because she got rid of Rafe’s attacker, she’s got a good job, and she has her vision of Li. She talks about her first day at DiMera and feeling like she really hit it off with her co-workers. She talks about how Gabi has been impressed with her and all the valuable information she learned that she can use later. Connie talks about feeling more comfortable. Her vision of Li asks if she means comfortable with DiMera business or with killing Everett Lynch.

Paulina questions Jada about her ex-husband being the one who attacked Rafe. Jada clarifies that he was Bobby Stein when they were married, so they think Bobby is the one who attacked Rafe. Paulina doesn’t know what to say. Jada didn’t want to believe it either but says that she and Stephanie put the pieces together that Bobby might have been faking being back to Everett. Jada adds that Bobby had a very clear motive for wanting Rafe out of the picture, because he wanted her back. Jada talks about bringing Bobby in for questioning, then he said he wasn’t feeling well so she had to let him go because she didn’t have the evidence to hold him. Jada says that Stephanie took matters in to her own hands and went to his hotel room, so she followed her and when they got there, he was lying next to a bottle of pills as he had overdosed. Jada then reveals to Paulina that Bobby/Everett is dead. Paulina is shocked and says she’s so sorry, but asks if she’s sure that he’s the one who attacked Rafe. Jada informs her that there was a suicide note that confessed to everything and also reveals the bloody gloves found in his room.

Gabi tells Johnny that this is a surprise. Johnny says he’s been thinking about Rafe so he wanted to come check how he was doing and how she’s doing. Gabi thanks him and says she knows it would mean a lot to Rafe that he came to see him. Johnny asks what the doctors are saying. Gabi says not much as they just don’t know. Johnny calls that the worst and asks how Gabi is doing. Gabi says she’s hanging in the best she can. Johnny recalls when EJ was in a coma and the feeling of just expecting him to wake up at any moment. Johnny tells Gabi that he’s sorry. Gabi says she just hates seeing Rafe like this. Johnny recalls when he was a kid and how Rafe was a like a larger than life superhero. Johnny says he felt safe because Rafe was out saving the world and he couldn’t believe how lucky he was to have Rafe as his stepfather. Gabi says it’s as lucky as she is to have Rafe as a big brother. Johnny calls Rafe one of the strongest, bravest, and toughest guys out there so he’s going to get through this like he always does. Gabi talks about how Rafe fought so hard to get her out of prison. Johnny notes that Stefan did too. Gabi says she’s lucky to have Stefan too as neither of them ever gave up on her.

Ava tells Stefan that Gabi went to the hospital to visit Rafe, so she decided to take this opportunity to talk to Stefan alone.

Stephanie questions Alex leaving Titan. Alex confirms he cleared out his office this morning now that he’s not Victor’s son anymore, so he couldn’t make a case for remaining CEO. Alex says afterwards, he realized he didn’t want to go back to the Kiriakis mansion as he doesn’t feel like he belongs there anymore. Alex says things moved so fast after Victor’s death that he never got around to giving up the lease to the apartment. Alex says he hasn’t been back since he left so it’s probably hot inside. Stephanie notes that her place is probably a mess, so she invites Alex to go to the Pub and grab a beer which he accepts.

Paulina asks if Jada can explain why she still has the gloves. Jada says she was going to take them to forensics after finishing the report and guesses she’s still trying to make this real for herself. Paulina asks if Jada is alright as if Rafe’s case wasn’t personal enough already. Jada feels she should’ve put this together sooner and realized that Bobby was capable of stabbing and hurting Rafe. Paulina argues that she can’t blame herself as she had no reason to suspect Bobby was capable of this kind of violence. Jada argues that now the man she loves is lying in a hospital bed and she doesn’t know if he will wake up or if she will ever hear his voice. Paulina stops her and assures this was not her fault. Paulina relates to being with a man capable of terrible violence too. Paulina says Abe couldn’t treat her better, but Lani’s father Ray had a terrible mean streak and used to hit her and make her believe she deserved it or that she made him act that way. Paulina says she finally realized that she wasn’t the cause of it, just like Jada isn’t responsible for Bobby. Jada thanks her for saying that. Paulina calls it the truth. Jada talks about how she can’t believe she was married to someone capable of murder and insists that wasn’t the person she knew. Paulina points out that she didn’t know about his personality disorder either. Jada admits that Bobby had so many secrets but she hopes that one of those secrets won’t cost Rafe his life.

Gabi tells Johnny how she knows that Rafe loved being his stepfather. They talk about EJ and how he can hold a grudge forever. Johnny tells Gabi that he’s sorry for how long EJ took to get Gabi out of prison and calls it totally wrong of him to let her sit in there for something she didn’t do. Gabi thanks him but admits she’s a little surprised that he’s being so nice to her. Johnny questions why. Gabi points out that she did expose the truth about what EJ did to Eric and Nicole. Johnny says he’s glad she did because he was keeping Eric from his child and letting Nicole live a lie. Johnny hopes EJ will learn some kind of lesson from this as he’s definitely paid the price in basically losing everyone he loves. Gabi adds that he’s even on the outs with Stefan. Johnny wishes Gabi a happy anniversary. Gabi calls it sweet of him to remember. Johnny mentions Stefan hinting at her surprise as he wanted the day to be special. Gabi says he succeeded. Johnny is glad to hear and guesses they are making up for lost time. Johnny talks about how Stefan was so lonely and miserable while Gabi was in prison.

Ava tells Stefan that something happened at the office today. Stefan asks her to be more specific. Ava says she could be overreacting but she doesn’t know. Stefan asks if this has to do with Gabi. Ava says it’s her new assistant, Connie. Ava explains that she and Kristen were talking about what happened between her and Stefan, then Connie sort of walked in on them. Stefan questions if she heard them. Ava says that Kristen is pretty sure she didn’t but they couldn’t just ask her. Stefan questions what exactly she said. Ava believes she said that she and Stefan slept together. Stefan calls this so bad. Ava encourages that Connie is new at DiMera, so even if she heard, she probably has no idea what they were talking about. Stefan questions why she was even talking about this in the office in the first place when Connie is Gabi’s assistant. Ava remarks that Connie seems harmless…

Connie tells her vision of Li that she did not murder Everett Lynch as he left a suicide note. Her vision of Li tells her that Everett didn’t write that note and she poisoned his coffee. Connie complains that she can’t get anything past him and says she had to do it because Everett/Bobby was going to expose her for stabbing Rafe which she only did because he was going to expose her for stabbing Li. Connie argues that she and Li would’ve been together a long time ago if it wasn’t for Stefan and Gabi. Connie declares that she’s going to make them pay for what they did and she knows exactly how.

Johnny goes home and joins Chanel in their bedroom. They kiss until Chanel asks if he’s hungry. Johnny mentions eating at the hospital when he went to see Rafe. Chanel asks how he’s doing. Johnny says he still hasn’t woken up, but he saw Gabi there. Chanel says she must be really scared. Johnny admits she’s scared and sad, but powering on through and not drowning in her sorrows.

Stephanie and Alex go to the Brady Pub together. Stephanie asks Alex how it feels to no longer be rich. Alex says he’s still getting used to it but it’s not entirely about the money as it’s more the whiplash of being Victor’s son and then not being Victor’s son. Stephanie is sure Justin is happy to have him back but she knows it’s not easy having his life flipped upside down twice in a year. Alex says that’s enough about his problems and asks about her since she and Everett broke up. Alex asks if there’s any chance they might get back together. Stephanie reveals there isn’t because Everett is dead.

Paulina asks Jada if the case against Everett Lynch is closed. Jada says that Bobby confessed to everything in the “suicide note”. Paulina declares it’s over then but Jada says not exactly, since they haven’t resolved who really killed Li Shin. Paulina brings up Jada saying she had a new suspect. Jada says that Bobby never told her who, just that it wasn’t Gil Carter and that he knew who attacked Rafe. Paulina argues that he did know since he did it himself and asks if Bobby could’ve killed Li as well. Jada says she’s not ruling it out but doesn’t understand why he wouldn’t have included it in the suicide note since it would no longer matter. Jada also doesn’t know what his motive would be to kill Li Shin since they had no connection.

Connie talks to her vision of Li about knowing working with Gabi would pay off, but she didn’t know it would pay off so quickly as she overheard Ava talking to Kristen about sleeping with Stefan while Gabi was still in prison. Connie says she doesn’t have a plan yet but she almost dropped it on Gabi and Stefan today at the Bistro where they were having a romantic anniversary dinner. Connie says she decided to keep her trap shut in the end because she realized this is a bomb with a long fuse, so she wants to detonate it when it will have maximum impact.

Stefan tells Ava that Connie was at the Bistro earlier when he was with Gabi. Ava asks how she seemed and what she wanted. Stefan explains that she wanted Gabi to sign some papers that Ava wanted her to sign. Ava clarifies that she did not ask her to do that and questions what he thinks that means. Stefan asks Ava again if she thinks Connie heard her. Ava thinks if Connie came here acting normal, then they are safe. Stefan says that doesn’t make him feel any better. Stefan adds that he told Gabi that he and Ava kissed twice while playing their parts and that she didn’t love it, but she understood. Stefan asks Ava if they can make a new rule that says they don’t discuss this ever again because it’s done and he can’t risk anyone hearing something they shouldn’t, especially not Gabi, right as Gabi walks in to the Bistro. Stefan greets her and asks if everything is okay. Ava asks how Rafe is. Gabi says he’s the same and questions what Ava is doing here. Stefan claims that Ava came to have papers signed and then Ava adds that Stefan told her that Connie already came and had her sign a copy. Gabi confirms that she did and gave them back to her. Gabi remarks that Connie hasn’t been her assistant long, but she doesn’t seem like the type of person to wait around for things to happen.

Connie admits she’s anxious to reveal Stefan’s infidelity to Gabi, but she’s not in a hurry since revenge is a dish best served cold. Her vision of Li asks if she has the patience to wait. Connie says this time she does because the longer Gabi thinks that Stefan was faithful while she was in the slammer, the more delicious it’s going to be when she finds out he was tangling in the sheets with his co-worker. Connie thinks she will help Gabi and Ava get past their differences and start to get along, so when it all goes sour, it will be almost as good as what happened with Charlemagne and Cassandra on Body and Soul which she mentions being on YouTube. Connie talks about how fun it will be watching Gabi and Ava bond, knowing that she can destroy them whenever she wants. Connie decides it’s time for bed and reveals the vision of Li that she has been talking to is actually a life-sized cardboard cutout of Li.

Johnny tells Chanel that he wishes there was more he could do for Rafe and Gabi. Chanel says being a good friend is a lot but Johnny says it doesn’t feel like a lot. Chanel encourages him being a good director and a great person. Johnny says he’s inspired by an even better person in Chanel as they kiss. After they head to bed, Johnny says he’s going to stay up and watch some videos on YouTube of Body and Soul to prepare himself for working on the show. Chanel jokes about Johnny’s work being watching TV. Chanel then offers to watch with him because she loves the show, so Johnny opens up his laptop.

Alex tells Stephanie that he’s so sorry as she just lost the guy she loved while he’s complaining about losing his inheritance. Stephanie understands he didn’t know. Alex calls it an incredible tragedy. Stephanie adds that especially since he seemed to be getting his life together. Alex asks if it could’ve been an accidental overdose. Stephanie says that his alter, Bobby, left a note. Alex asks if that means Bobby was the one who took the pills. Stephanie says somehow that makes it even worse. Stephanie knows it sounds strange, but she doesn’t think any of this is what Everett wanted because of his terrible disorder. Stephanie cries that Everett was a good person that didn’t deserve any of this.

Paulina tells Jada that she can only imagine how confusing and painful this whole ordeal has been. Jada admits it’s not something she expected. Paulina admits she’s grateful there’s no longer a violent criminal on the loose. Jada says she’s trying to take comfort in that. Paulina encourages that Jada did her job under the worst of circumstances. Jada says it doesn’t feel like that, arguing that Rafe should be here but he’s not because of a man that she brought in to his life. Paulina assures that Rafe won’t see it that way. Paulina then tells Jada to take the rest of the day off and go home. Jada agrees but says she should first call Gabi as she doesn’t know about Everett yet. Jada hopes Gabi will find some comfort in knowing the man that hurt her brother is off the streets. Paulina tells Jada to hang in there as she exits her office.

Ava tells Gabi that since she already signed the papers, she can go. Ava wishes them a Happy Anniversary and tells Gabi that she will see her at the office tomorrow as she exits the Bistro. Stefan tells Gabi that those papers must have been pretty important if everyone’s tracking her down to sign them. Gabi feels it was below Ava’s pay grade and hopes it wasn’t too awkward for him when Ava showed up. Gabi then gets a call from Jada, who says she’s sorry to bother her on her anniversary but asks if she can talk for a minute. Gabi says of course and asks if it’s about Rafe. Jada informs Gabi that she got some new information that she thinks will bring her some closure.

Chanel and Johnny discuss the storylines on Body and Soul. Chanel remarks that the characters lead some crazy lives while Johnny asks if it’s any different than the Days of their Lives, pointing out that they thought EJ’s baby was dead when it turns out he was just adopted by Eric and Sloan and then it turned out to actually be Eric and Nicole’s baby, not EJ’s at all. Johnny brings up what Theresa did to Alex in letting him think he was the heir of the Kiriakis fortune. Chanel hopes that Alex has somebody to lean on.

Stephanie thanks Alex and says she definitely wasn’t expecting to cry on his shoulder tonight. Alex guesses they are even since she was there for him on the night that his wedding absolutely exploded. Alex tells Stephanie that he’s really sorry about Everett. Stephanie says she appreciates that. Stephanie says it’s getting late so they should probably head back to their apartments. Alex calls it convenient to be neighbors since they can come here and go back in one car. Alex says he’ll find the waiter to take care of the check, insisting that it’s on him so Stephanie thanks him.

Jada goes to the hospital and sits at Rafe’s side, telling him that Bobby was pretending to be Everett all along as he obviously didn’t want him around. Jada cries that she’s so sorry and that she wouldn’t believe any of this if she hadn’t lived it. Jada repeats that she’s so sorry and that she wishes she knew what he was capable of so she could’ve protected Rafe. Jada declares that at least now they have the case closed and he’s gone, so now all she wants to do is focus on Rafe coming back to them.

Gabi tells Stefan that she can’t believe this Bobby/Everett is the one who stabbed Rafe. Stefan points out that at least he’s dead though. Gabi isn’t sure that makes her feel any better since it does make Rafe any more likely to wake up. Gabi complains that getting a phone call out of the blue feels so unsatisfying as she’ll never get to see Bobby brought to justice or get to confront him face to face. Stefan points out that at least he did pay and that he’s dead, so justice was served in that respect. Stefan then declares that the person who hurt Rafe can never do it to anyone ever again.

Connie finishes her glasses of wine and takes her cardboard cutout of Li to bed.
