Recap written by Eva

Chance considers giving up his career, and Sharon suggests that he take a leave of absence from his job to figure out if he really wants to be a cop. Sharon also suggests that he go back to therapy to spend time figuring out what makes him happy. Chance thanks Sharon for listening to him, and he agrees to think about her advice.

Daniel and Tucker both advise Phyllis to let go of her anger toward Diane because she is the only one getting hurt by her anger. Tucker even adds that if she lets go of her anger good things will start to happen to her. Daniel later talks to Summer and they wonder how they will save Phyllis from herself this time. Summer finally tells Daniel they should let Phyllis make her own mistakes and solve her own problems.

Summer and Kyle argue about Diane because Summer doesn’t want her or Kyle to be involved in any potential crimes Diane and Jack might commit so that Jeremy will end up in jail again. Jack tells Diane that he has figured out a way to combine several steps in their plan so they can put Jeremy in jail sooner. Diane goes over to Jeremy’s hotel room and shows him the necklace and he wants to rob all the rich people in Genoa City but Diane persuades Jeremy that if they did that it would arouse too much suspicion in the police. Jeremy wants to make love to Diane to celebrate the fact she stole Nikki’s necklace. Diane pretends to be allergic to Jeremy’s cologne and asks him to go take a shower. Diane hides Nikki’s necklace in the drawer of Jeremy’s bedside table and then leaves Jeremy’s hotel room. Jack is in Crimson Lights when he, hears Chance get a call from the Chicago police. Jack gets a text message from Diane that says it’s done.

Jeremy: [ Chuckles ] Well, this is a surprise. Good morning, phyllis.

Phyllis: I want to know something.

Jeremy: Okay.

Phyllis: What kind of game are you playing?

Jeremy: [ Chuckles ] I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Phyllis: I think you do. There are two options — you’re using diane, or you and diane are working jack. So, which is it?

Diane: Good morning.

Jack: Hey. Hey.

Diane: You look like you got about as much sleep as I did.

Jack: Yeah. I was up all night trying to figure out some way to bring this whole mess with jeremy stark to a swift conclusion. As soon as I saw all that fear in summer’s eyes, I — I knew we had to speed up the timetable. And it’s not just summer. It’s the stress it’s putting on kyle, not to mention the danger you keep putting yourself in day after day.

Diane: Well, I appreciate all you’re doing to look out for us, but I really don’t see any other options. And we are making progress. Today I’m going to hand over nikki’s stolen necklace to prove my loyalty. I’ll make jeremy cross a few lines, set him up, and then send him back to prison where he belongs.

Jack: Here’s the thing. I think I figured out a way to accelerate things. Maybe we’re not at the beginning of this sting. Maybe this could be the end.

Sharon: More coffee?

Chance: [ Sighs ] You caught me. I was, uh, light-years away.

Sharon: Yeah, I’m thinking about adding “soul searching” to the menu.

Chance: [ Chuckles ] Well, if you start charging for that, you’re gonna have to add a double-shot to my tab.

Sharon: In all of that searching, have you come to any conclusions?

Chance: [ Breathes deeply ]

Jack: So, what do you think?

Diane: It’s smart. It has a certain elegance to it. I think it can work.

Jack: If we can pull this off, we can bring an end to this nightmare once and for all.

Diane: Yeah. And I can stop looking over my shoulder and focus on what’s in front of me. When do we start?

Jack: I think we’ve already started. This cough.

[Sfx: Coughs]

Chance: So, you want to know if I’m still questioning my career choice?

Sharon: Well, I’ve given your thought some consideration.

Chance: Really? Well, if “the doctor’s in,” i should find out how much this is gonna run me first.

Sharon: No charge for friendly advice.

Chance: Alright. I’m game. Lay it on me.

Sharon: Okay. You’re a good cop. You’re solid. You’re dependable. You’re the kind of guy you want to have on your side when the chips are down. Now, that being said, as the wide variety of jobs listed on my résumé so clearly displays, i am obviously a proponent of following your instincts. So, if you continue to have doubts about your chosen career, I think you need to examine things on a much deeper level.

Chance: Huh.

Jeremy: You know what I find really fun about you?

Phyllis: No. What?

Jeremy: Everything. Please sit. Last time we crossed paths, you were almost apologetic.

Phyllis: That’s when i thought diane had left town.

Jeremy: I remember how sorry you said you were when you made that initial call to me, letting me know where diane was.

Phyllis: Okay, well, for the record, just because we don’t have proof that it was diane who turned you into the feds doesn’t mean it isn’t so.

Jeremy: That’s true. But by the end of the day, I’ll be sure where her loyalty lies.

Phyllis: “By the end of the day” — what does that mean?

Jeremy: Exactly what it sounds like. In fact, I’m forever grateful that you reached out to me and brought me to genoa city. So, please let me buy you breakfast. It’s the least I could do.

Phyllis: You didn’t answer my question. What are you up to?

Jeremy: What is it about my innocent breakfast that makes you think that I’m devising some diabolical scheme?

Phyllis: I saw you and diane together. You looked really cozy.

Jeremy: You really are a busy bee, aren’t you? What do you want?

Phyllis: You’re not my target. Diane is.

Jeremy: It’s fascinating, how much time and energy you spend obsessing over that woman.

Phyllis: Well, see, I think diane would be happier living someplace other than genoa city, and I want to make that happen for her. I want to get her out of this town.

Jeremy: Oh. You’re so thoughtful.

Phyllis: I’m an angel, actually.

Jeremy: Mm.

Phyllis: Yeah. I also want to see diane pay for everything she’s done.

Jeremy: I respect that. You’re a woman who knows what she wants and won’t let anything get in her way. I’m also impressed that you’re not afraid of me.

Phyllis: Should I be afraid of you?

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Jeremy: Hmm. Someone’s ears must be burning. Good morning. I take it you had a productive evening?

Diane: Yeah, I’d love to tell you all about chicago. When can I see you?

Jeremy: How about now? I’m at society.

Diane: No. Someplace more private, a little more intimate.

Jeremy: Come to my suite.

Diane: Okay. I’ll see you then.

Jack: Step one is done.

Diane: Yeah. How’d I do?

Jack: Couldn’t have gone any better. Now it’s time for me to take care of my part.

Kyle: Is that for me?

Summer: Uh, I didn’t know that you’d want one or that you were even still here.

Kyle: Fine. I’ll grab one before I leave.

Summer: Does that mean that you want to take separate cars? Okay. [ Scoffs ]

Kyle: Morning.

Jack: Morning.

Diane: Morning.

Summer: Diane. You’re here again, and, um, you have on the same outfit you were wearing yesterday. You spent the night? If you think all pads are exactly the same…

Jeremy: Well, all good things must come to an end.

Phyllis: Alrighty.

Jeremy: While you may have made my morning a bit more entertaining, I have someplace more important to be.

Phyllis: Oh, with a woman who’s so terrified of you that she tried to get you to leave town because she was afraid you were gonna hurt her family?

Jeremy: Slight misunderstanding.

Phyllis: What do I have to say to you to get you to tell me what diane is up to?

Jeremy: Don’t push it. I’m a better friend than an enemy. Trust me.

Daniel: Hey. You ready to brainstorm?

Phyllis: Yeah. Order whatever you want.

Daniel: Well, you look like you’ve already got a lot on your plate.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Daniel: What’s going on?

Phyllis: Did you see that guy who was leaving when you arrived?

Daniel: With the suit?

Phyllis: Yeah. He’s a criminal that diane has been fraternizing with from her past.

Daniel: Please tell me you weren’t engaging with him in any way.

Phyllis: I mean, what could i do? What could I do?

Daniel: Mom.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] Honestly, I don’t understand. I mean, diane first is acting like the damsel in distress, so afraid, in fear of her life and her safety, and then she’s hanging out with him at the glam club.

Daniel: You want to know what I think?

Phyllis: That I should stop worrying about diane?

Daniel: Exactly.

Phyllis: I can’T. I’m sorry. I can’T. He is a criminal. We could all be in danger, daniel. And he made it sound like something was going on today…

Daniel: Mom —

Phyllis: …That something would happen today, something big.

Daniel: Mom. It’s enough. This needs to stop.

Jack: Yes, diane stayed here last night.

Diane: In a guest room.

Jack: Since stark has to believe that she’s in chicago, we needed to keep her away from the hotel.

Summer: Yeah, we wouldn’t want anybody to find out that you’re the one who actually stole my grandma’s necklace.

Jack: Actually, we have some good news on that front, as well.

Diane: Yes, jack thought of a way for us to get what we want and end this.

Kyle: That’s terrific. What are you gonna do?

Jack: Let me just say we’re combining a couple steps of the plan to move things along.

Kyle: Great. I’ll help any way I can.

Summer: Okay, I’m sorry to be the wet blanket here — and i love the optimism — but I meant everything I said last night. Kyle and I cannot be a part of any more plans or schemes, and that includes even hearing about whatever laws you two might break next.

Diane: I understand. And I am really sorry for the disruption that this has caused in your lives, but with any luck, it will be over soon.

Kyle: Okay, I do have to ask one question. How dangerous is this?

Jack: I am confident we will all emerge unscathed.

Diane: Except for jeremy.

Summer: Okay, that’s more than enough information for now. Thank you. I’ve got to get to work. Have a good day.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door slams ]

[ Door opens ]

Diane: This is the biggest disagreement they’ve had since they’ve come back, and I’m to blame.

Jack: It’s a temporary setback.

Diane: [ Sighs ] I just wish we could fix this.

Jack: We can. We need to eradicate the problem, get jeremy stark out of genoa city for good. You ready?

Diane: [ Sighs heavily ] Let’s take him down.

Zyrteeeec

Chance: Well, being a cop — that wasn’t my original goal. You know, when I was young, I was a scout. When I got old enough, i enlisted, did a few tours.

Sharon: Mm. And what did you like about being in the service?

Chance: Structure and a sense of purpose. I just tried to be the perfect soldier. And when I got back, that’s when I joined the gcpd, worked with the feds for a while, and now I’m back with the police department.

Sharon: Funny, you don’t seem like, um, an adrenaline junkie.

Chance: [ Chuckles ] Eh, I don’t know. Maybe I like to take risks. Never really thought about it that way.

Sharon: So, what else do you like about being a cop?

Chance: Being undercover has its perks.

Sharon: Like what?

Chance: I get to be somebody else for a while.

Sharon: Hmm. Well, maybe there’s a pattern here — being the perfect soldier, pretending to be somebody else. How much time have you spent just being yourself, figuring out who you are and doing what you truly want to do?

Phyllis: Don’t you think i want this to stop? Of course I want it to stop, you know? And it did, I thought. For one brief moment in time, diane was gone. And I thought, “oh, we can go back to normal now.” But, no, no, she wasn’t gone. That was just a scam. And she is here cooking up some new scheme with that criminal.

Daniel: I thought you had learned to let stuff like that go.

Phyllis: It’s not just an old grudge. This is for real. Do you know that jack and I were together before diane came into town? Did you know that? And we were — we were happy, I thought.

Daniel: I know. I know. I was actually rooting for the two of you.

Phyllis: Yeah. We’d still be together if diane didn’t show up. But she has poisoned his mind and she has ruined the connection that I have with jack. And now he is falling deeper and deeper into her spell. You know what I saw? I saw them kissing the other day. Yeah. I mean, I thought he knew who she was. I mean, he needs to open his eyes. Anyway [Sighs] I want her gone. I want her really, really gone.

[ Elevator doors open ]

Kyle: Hey, can we talk about what happened at home? Because I’m not happy about it.

Summer: Okay, thank goodness we are finally on the same page because I don’t think I can do this anymore. Your parents are talking like this whole stark thing is coming to an end, but I just — I don’t see that happening. Harrison and I can still go to paris, and you should come with us.

Kyle: I’m not going anywhere.

Summer: But I thought that —

Kyle: No, you misunderstood me.

Summer: How? You said that you were unhappy. You know that this whole thing has gone too far, right? Because when I heard that your father broke into my grandmother’s apartment in chicago, I realized we can’t be a part of this anymore.

Kyle: I am unhappy because you refuse to listen to what is going on with my mother. Now I have no idea what kind of danger she might be putting herself in.

Summer: It sounds like you’re blaming me because I don’t want us to get dragged into another one of her messes, but, kyle, i am not gonna apologize for that.

Jeremy: Come in. You have something for me?

Diane: I do.

[ Clicks tongue ] I hope you like it.

[ Exhales sharply ]

Jeremy: Wow.

Diane: Yeah.

Jeremy: This is…perfect.

Diane: [ Chuckles ] Isn’t it incredible? Look at the artistry, the way the stones catch the light.

Jeremy: How can I be assured that this is nikki newman’s?

Diane: [ Scoffs ] After everything I went through to get this for you, you’re questioning its provenance? Nikki is pictured wearing this exact necklace at the latest exhibit opening at the modern museum of chicago and countless other galas. And if that’s not proof enough, take a look at the tag.

Jeremy: Yeah. There it is. “N” and “V.” Perfect.

Diane: [ Laughs ]

Jeremy: Well, let me know the details.

Diane: What details?

Jeremy: Well, how you pulled it off. You know I love a good story. Let me know how you liberated this beautiful necklace from captivity.

Diane: [ Chuckles ] A girl has to have some secrets.

Jeremy: Well, did they have a security system? I mean, did you bypass it?

Diane: Well, I didn’t know how many chances I would have before I tripped an alarm, so i thought long and hard about my targets. What do nikki and victor cherish? What’s the most important thing to them?

Jeremy: Newman enterprises.

Diane: No. Each other. And that’s when I decided to use the most important date in their lives — their wedding anniversary, or their first wedding anniversary, I should say. And then just like that, I was in and I found that beautiful necklace that you hold in your hands, an exquisite symbol of their love. But apparently it was owned by a long line of royals before it went to auction.

Jeremy: Hmm. And now it is here.

Diane: Mm-hmm.

Jeremy: [ Exhales sharply ] I am so impressed. I asked you for a symbol of your dedication and loyalty, and you have far exceeded my wildest expectations.

Diane: I hope that means what I think it does.

Jeremy: You know, this necklace is the beginning of something new and exciting for us.

Diane: What do you have in mind?

Jeremy: Forget laundering. We need to branch out, steal from the rest of the rich and powerful in genoa city. And I think I know where to start.

Diane: Where?

Jeremy: That red-headed archenemy of yours. What do you say we rob her blind? Ma ma ma ma

[Clears throut]

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Daniel: Okay, look, I know that you and jack have history, and I also know that when you care about someone, you will go to the wall to protect them.

Phyllis: Diane has been manipulating everybody in town.

Daniel: And you’ve told him this? You’ve let him know that she’s trouble?

Phyllis: Yes. Countless times. He won’t open his eyes.

Daniel: Then you need to let this go. The ball’s in jack’s court. He gets to choose who he wants to be a part of his life, and if that includes diane, you have to live with that decision. You know, it is what it is.

Phyllis: Ugh. I hate that saying. I hate that. Let me tell you something about me. I could find the straw to break the camel’s back.

Daniel: Wow.

Phyllis: Mm-hmm.

Daniel: This is it. I mean, this is — this is what it’s come to.

[ Scoffs ] You know, I’m starting to think that maybe I made a mistake.

Phyllis: What do you mean by that?

Daniel: Asking you to join me at omega sphere.

Phyllis: I could do that job with my eyes closed.

Daniel: I’m not talking about your tech skills. This project is supposed to be about positivity and self-improvement. If we’ve got this much negativity and this much turmoil from the outset, then — then we’ve lost before we ever even started.

Phyllis: Oh, my g– are you saying that I have negative energy?

Daniel: [ Scoffs, chuckles ] You know, I got one shot at doing this my way, the right way. I don’t want to ruin that.

Phyllis: Are you firing me even before this is launched?

Daniel: To tell you the truth, the way things are going at chancellor-winters, this project might not ever make it off the ground.

Phyllis: What does that mean? What does that mean?

Daniel: I’m not gonna elaborate right now. I’m not gonna get into it. But I think — I think, in the meantime, you should figure out a way to tame your anger.

Phyllis: What? Oh, really? How do you propose I tame my anger?

Daniel: I don’t know. You know, there’s a lot of good self-help books out there. Maybe you should read one. You know what? Maybe read two. Two would probably be better. And then maybe take a good, long, hard look at yourself and ask, “where are these feelings coming from? And are they making me a better person?” Because they… I don’t know. I don’t know. That’s all I got. I-I need to get some air. Um, we can — we can brainstorm later.

Tucker: Looks like someone’s had a rough morning. What’s on your mind, sunshine?

Diane: Rob phyllis blind? I must admit that has a certain beauty to it, especially after everything she’s tried to steal from me.

Jeremy: Revenge can be sweet.

Diane: Yeah. Freedom is even sweeter. If all of my enemies suddenly start losing their finest jewels, who do you think the police would suspect?

Jeremy: Perhaps.

Diane: Mm.

Jeremy: What about the abbotts? I’m sure you can get around all of their alarm codes and combinations. Plus, you know them so well.

Diane: [ Scoffs ] I’m not about to steal from my son and grandson. And if we targeted my inner circle, we would be caught in a minute. Our whole adventure would be over. I’m looking for long-term success, and I think you are, too.

Jeremy: Turn around.

Diane: Why?

Jeremy: Don’t you trust me?

Diane: I could say the same to you, even after I stuck my neck out for you.

Jeremy: Now it’s time for me to repay you for a job well done. Now, turn around.

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

[ Exhales sharply ]

Jeremy: I want you to remember me every time you wear this. You’ve earned it. Imagine making enough money where you could buy more of these gems for yourself.

Diane: Well, nothing would throw me more, but I can’t exactly go out on the town in genoa city wearing nikki newman’s stolen jewelry. No. This is for you. And I’m glad that I have finally proven to you that I’m willing to get back in the game.

Jeremy: Well, you’ve said and done everything I asked… except for one.

Diane: What’s that?

Jeremy: I think we need to seal this new partnership… with a kiss.

Diane: [ Chuckles ]

Kyle: I’m not asking for an apology, but I would appreciate some compassion.

Summer: I hate what you’re going through. I feel horrible about all the stress that you’re under.

Kyle: Yeah, and I’m respectfully asking you to acknowledge that you are part of the reason for it.

Summer: I beg your pardon? How am I to blame for any of this?

Kyle: We were a team! It was us against the world. And now I feel like I’m in a game of tug-of-war between my parents on one side and you on the other. I can’t keep doing this, summer.

Summer: Kyle, I have bent over backwards to accept diane. I have welcomed her into our home and into our workplace. But I’m not gonna back down when she is willing to make you an accomplice in her criminal activity, okay? Because in all probability, this whole thing with your mother — it’s gonna blow up. And if you can’t see that, you’re either blind or you’re fooling yourself.

Daniel: Hey. What, did a bomb just go off in here? You guys okay? Everything alright?

Kyle: Not quite.

Daniel: Is this a bad time?

Kyle: Your timing’s perfect. I’ll leave the two of you to talk.

Summer: [ Scoffs ]

[ Sighs ]

Daniel: You want to tell your big brother all about it?

Summer: It’s kyle’s mom. Whenever we fight now, it’s all about her.

Daniel: Mm. Well, that’s funny because I’m here to talk about our mom.

Summer: Ugh. What’s she done now?

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] Uh… I don’t know. You know, things just got worse this morning. I had to tell her that she needed to take her anger about diane down a couple notches or we weren’t gonna be able to work together.

Summer: [ Sighs ] I definitely get your instinct. It’s the same reason why I fired mom. But honestly, daniel, what we need to do is duck and cover because, with everything going on, I’d be surprised if mom doesn’t spin out of control.

Daniel: [ Scoffs ] Well, she’s already spinning. Trust me. And now I guess we just have to figure out how we’re gonna save mom from herself this time.

Summer: [ Sighs ]

Tucker: Ah, yes. You respond to my question with silence. That’s very wise. That’s very wise. Because only when we are silent do we hear the answers we seek.

[ Laughs ] I’ll sit at the bar. I might order you a —

Phyllis: No, no, no, wait a second. You — you — you’ll do.

Tucker: I’ll do? Nice. That’s the warmest invitation I’ve received in a long time.

Phyllis: I have a question for you. What do you think would happen to me if I blackmailed and threatened this entire town and faked my own death…

Tucker: Okay.

Phyllis: …And then I was actually alive, I sashayed back into town…

Tucker: [ Laughs ]

Phyllis: …[Chuckles] And i convinced everyone that I atoned for my sins, only to find out that that wasn’t true, I had a whole new batch of sins — not only that — I had an enterprise of criminality and I brought that criminality back here into town and put everyone in danger?

[ Clears throat ] So, do you think that I would be welcomed back here with open arms to this quaint little town?

Tucker: Mm. You know, there’s something about this scenario that strikes me as familiar.

Phyllis: Mm. Well, take a minute. I really want an answer. What do you think?

Tucker: What do I think? Well, first, I think you’re not giving yourself enough credit. ‘Cause you’re very affable, you know, very charming, adept at making friends and influencing people.

Phyllis: Nobody would give me the time of day. Diane has managed to charm the pants off of everyone, including jack. And I would be tarred and feathered. That’s the answer.

Tucker: Yeah, but surely the people who know and love you —

Phyllis: Think the worst of me. My son just gave me some lecture how I should get some self-help books and that I should just allow diane to run this town and put us all in danger. You know, diane has managed to, um, even con the smartest men… like yourself.

Tucker: How do you figure?

Phyllis: Well, you were using diane to get to ashley, right? How’d that worked out for you? Yeah. I don’t know what to do. Everything is different for me. Everything is weird. My friends are foes. My foes are friends. I don’t know who to trust. And you — you, of all people, are the enlightened one.

Tucker: [ Laughs ]

Phyllis: [ Inhales sharply ] I can’t take it much longer.

Chance: Oh, I don’t, uh — I don’t think I ordered that.

Sharon: Well, you looked like you needed it. You know, I promised you a friendly chat, and then I veered off.

Chance: Well, I’m actually glad you did. And what you said — it, uh — it brought me up short, only because it made a whole lot of sense.

Sharon: Did any of this ever come up in your therapy sessions?

Chance: Yeah. He asked me once or twice after everything that happened in spain if I had regrets about my career choice.

Sharon: Did you have a response?

Chance: No. I, uh — I didn’t even want to entertain the idea. It’s a tough question.

Sharon: Yeah, the good ones usually are.

Chance: Yeah. I got another one for you. Did I choose my life, or did my life choose me? Do I want to live a life where i stand to lose so much every minute I’m on the job? I don’t know. I — I think I might need to start asking myself, “am I doing the thing that’s gonna make me happy?”

Sharon: What do you think about going back to therapy?

Chance: [ Exhales heavily ]

[ Chuckles ] I’m not in love with the idea. But if it’s gonna give me some answers, it might be worth it.

Sharon: Hey, maybe you should consider taking a leave of absence from the gcpd, you know, just to give yourself a fresh perspective.

Chance: Yeah, it’s definitely worth considering.

Sharon: Oh, hey, jack!

Jack: Hi, sharon. Hi, chance.

Chance: Jack. If you’re looking for good advice, you’re in the right place.

Jack: Uh, thanks. I think I’ll just have my usual.

Sharon: [ Chuckles ] Okay.

Chance: I could actually use a refill, too.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Well, that doesn’t happen every day.

Sharon: Who is it?

Chance: It’s the chicago police department.

Diane: [ Breathing heavily ] Ooh! God! I didn’t realize how much I’d missed this.

Jeremy: What was I thinking, huh, trying to talk business? We should be celebrating.

Diane: Mm, it’s never too early for champagne. That’s what I always say.

Jeremy: Well, I wouldn’t mind having a glass or two… afterwards. Some things are good to know. Like, where to find the cheapest gas in town. And which supermarket gives you the most bang for your buck. Something else that’s good to know? Phyllis: I just want an explanation of this strange new world. I just want…some explanation. That’s all.

Tucker: Are you finished?

Phyllis: No. I was taking a break ’cause i was tired of talking.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ]

Phyllis: You got anything?

Tucker: Uh, I will redirect your attention to the advice i gave you before the holidays.

Phyllis: I cannot remember because I kind of threw it out as trivial, so…

Tucker: The more at peace you are, the more things will go your way.

Phyllis: Really? Like, that doesn’t compute to me at all.

Tucker: Stop fighting the world so hard. Take the path of least resistance.

Phyllis: I have read more profound things in a fortune cookie.

Tucker: Okay. Your anger is gonna eat you alive.

Phyllis: Well, what happened to you? What happened to the guy who said, “I want to burn it all down”? What happened to that guy,

that tucker mccall? Where is he? I really find him to be more interesting.

Summer: I really wish I knew how to help our mother, but at some point we have to remind ourselves she’s an adult. These are her problems, and she’s got to figure out how to solve them. And we just have to cross our fingers that she doesn’t pull everyone into the path of her whirling tornado.

Daniel: [ Sighs ] Yeah. Well, I’ll let you know how that goes.

Summer: Yeah. Call me.

Daniel: I will. See you later, kyle.

Kyle: Yeah. Later.

Summer: [ Sighs ]

Kyle: That comment you made about someone pulling everything into the path of her tornado — was that about your mother or mine?

Summer: I was talking to my brother about our mother, but i can understand why you’d be confused because the same could easily be said for diane.

Kyle: That is not a fair comparison at all.

[ Cellphone pings ] Perfect timing.

Summer: Who was it?

Kyle: Your grandfather. Victor wants me to drop by the ranch so we can follow up on that conversation. The last thing on my mind is helping him cause problems for adam at jabot. All I can think about right now is helping my mother get to the other side of this plan unharmed.

Jeremy: Here. Let me help you with that.

[ Dress unzipping ]

Diane: [ Sighs ]

[ Coughing ] Oh, I think I’m allergic to your cologne.

[ Coughs ]

Jeremy: Really? It’s all natural.

Diane: Well, whatever it is, I’m — I’m sorry — I’m sensitive to it.

[ Sniffles ]

Jeremy: Okay, well, I’ll take a quick shower.

Diane: Okay. Well, don’t be long.

Jeremy: The things I do for you.

Diane: I’ll make it worth your while. Hurry.

Jeremy: Okay.

Diane: [ Sighs heavily ]

[ Exhales sharply ]

Chance: I should probably take this.

Sharon: Of course.

Chance: Detective chancellor.

[ Cellphone pings ]

Jack: [ Exhales heavily ] [ Sighs ]

Recap written by Suzanne

At Society, Adam accuses Victor of colluding with Kyle to kick him out of Jabot. They have a heated argument. Victor accuses Adam of shutting his family out, while Adam knows that Victor just likes to control his children. Adam thinks Victor is a terrible father.

Diane and Stark have a drink. She is about to catch a plane to Chicago to implement her plan. He suggests going with her, but she finds excuses for him not to go. He also suggests going back to his room, but she puts him off.

Kyle and Summer discuss his earlier chat with Victor. Summer doesn’t approve of Victor wanting to manipulated Adam into returning to the fold. Later, Summer is worried again that Diane’s plan to get rid of Stark is putting them in danger. She’s also shocked when she recognizes the fancy necklace that Diane and Jack have, which belongs to her grandmother, Nikki. They assure her that they’re just borrowing it for their plan with Stark, but she’s very unhappy that they’re taking such risks, involving Kyle, keeping her in the dark, etc. Jack kisses Diane passionatlely.

Abby tries to cheer Devon up about all of the terrible things that have happened to him lately – especially Tucker messing up the IPO and letting him down again.

Daniel and Lily are at the coffeehouse, where they’ve been chatting. She’s wanted to get her mind off her business and personal problems, so Daniel was listening to her vent. Billy and Chelsea arrive, so things are awkward. Chelsea catches up briefly with Daniel. Billy is clearly not happy to see Daniel and Lily together. Later, Adam finds Billy drinking and wants to yell at him for playing the hero with Chelsea, but Billy gets in his face and yells at him to back off. Abby tells them to knock it off. Adam goes to visit Chelsea, who’s thinking about Billy.

Tucker goes to see Devon, who hears him out. He tries to explain that he just wanted to work with him and Ashley because he cares about them so much. Devon says that he goes about that all wrong through lying and manipulation. He tells Tucker that he really needs to get his act together and leave town. Tucker is glum.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Adam: What were you up to?

Victor: What do you mean, what was I up to?

Adam: You and kyle, when you were talking here earlier. What sort of collusion was going on?

Victor: Kyle is a nice guy. We had an interesting conversation.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Come on. You can’t really expect me to buy that. The guy’s a bore. What were you talking about?

Victor: Family issues, son. I know you don’t give a damn about family issues, but I do. And I asked him how you were faring at jabot.

Adam: [ Scoffs ] I’m sure you don’t care how I’m doing in my new position. And you must know that kyle’s opinion would be skewed. He hates the fact that I’m there. So there’s no objective value in asking how I’m doing, which leads me to my original question — what are you up to?

Kyle: Harrison finally go down?

Summer: [ Sighs ] Yeah. It took four readings of “bumpy the camel,” but he’s finally sleeping peacefully. You know, I still feel kind of nervous about sticking around here and not going to paris.

Kyle: Hey. You’re safe, summer, both of you. I wouldn’t have encouraged you to stay if I thought you were in danger. You trust me, right?

Summer: Yeah. With my life.

Kyle: Good. Now, you know who I don’t trust?

Summer: Stark?

Kyle: That’s right, but also your grandfather.

Summer: Uh-oh. What did he do now?

Kyle: He wants my help in ousting adam from jabot.

Summer: Really?

Kyle: Mm-hmm. We just discussed it.

Summer: What does he want you to do?

Kyle: We didn’t get into specifics, but he would like it if adam had an epic failure that resulted in him being fired.

Summer: [ Scoffs ] I know that grandpa and adam have always had their issues, but I just can’t believe he would be so hurtful to his own son.

Kyle: I don’t think he was trying to hurt him this time. I got the feeling he just wants him out of the job so he can push him back into the newman fold.

Summer: Coercing adam to return by eliminating his other options? I just… I don’t think a family can be brought together through deceit and manipulation.

Diane: Mm. As fun as this has been — and it’s been a lot of fun — I need to get to chicago.

Jeremy: [ Chuckles ] Love it.

Diane: What?

Jeremy: The audacity. Stealing a piece of jewelry from nikki newman?

Diane: Shh. We don’t want the whole world to know. And it’s not just any piece of jewelry. Victor spent a fortune on it.

Jeremy: Oh. I love that, too.

Diane: And when I bring it back, you’ll know that I’m serious about getting back in the game with you.

Jeremy: You know, I’m so impressed by this plan of yours. Why wait?

Diane: Wait for what?

Jeremy: For you to get back from chicago. Why don’t I come with you? We could pull this heist off together — a taste of things to come.

Abby: Still thinking about it?

Devon: Yeah. It’s kind of hard not to. It’s not every day you find out that your father is trying to steal your company, you know?

Abby: Yeah. You know, I wouldn’t know the feeling because my dad would never try to do that to me or to any one of my siblings.

[ Both chuckle ]

Devon: Mm.

Abby: I’m kidding.

Devon: Mm.

Abby: I’m just trying to cheer you up because you’re so good at doing that for everyone else. What are you feeling?

Devon: I am… I’m feeling like you just being here is cheering me up. I’m also feeling like my life was going really well, like i was on a great trajectory and everything was moving forward. I was working with my sister and we had realized the dream of combining our companies and then everything just fell apart.

Abby: It’s just a setback.

Devon: Mnh, no, it’s not. It’s — it’s more than that. ‘Cause I told jill that I want to buy back hamilton-winters because if it goes public, it’s gonna end up in the hands of strangers — or, worse, people like tucker — and I don’t want that at all. I want to have control of it, and I want to run my company the way that neil taught me how to run it.

Abby: That’s a big decision.

Devon: I know it is. And I know it’s the right one, too, ’cause I can feel it. I’ve made way too many mistakes lately not trusting how I feel, between nate and everything that went down with him, trusting tucker when he showed up to town. It’s definitely time for me to trust my own instincts.

Lily: I’m really sorry.

Daniel: Thank you.

Lily: Thanks.

Daniel: For what?

Lily: Well, I said I didn’t feel like talking, and then i talked your ear off.

Daniel: Oh. Well, you know, it’s understandable. I mean, you got a lot on your mind. You and devon, you and billy, you and — I don’t know — somebody else.

Lily: [ Laughs ]

Daniel: I got to be honest with you — I kind of stopped listening after a while.

Lily: Oh, good. I’m glad I have someone to talk to who listens.

Daniel: [ Sniffs ] I feel the same way. Yeah. You know, I’ve done my fair share of sharing with you. The good, the bad, and the painfully unattractive. For better or worse, you get me.

Lily: I do get you. I wish I didn’t, but I do. Ever leave your clothes in the dryer

Billy: I’m gonna go order.

Chelsea: Hey, daniel.

Daniel: How’s it going, chelsea? It’s been a minute, huh?

Chelsea: It has. Hi, lily.

Lily: Hi.

Chelsea: I heard you were back in town. It’s great to see you. How have you been?

Daniel: Good. I’ve been good. Um, I’m happy to be back in genoa city in january, you know? I love these subzero temperatures.

Chelsea: Yeah. Are you just visiting or…?

Daniel: Actually, there’s something that’s gonna be keeping me around town for a bit. I’m working on a project with chancellor-winters.

Chelsea: Oh. Well, that’s wonderful. I’m glad to hear it.

Lily: Yeah, we’re very happy to have him.

Chelsea: I bet kevin will be excited you’re back in town.

Daniel: Yeah. Yeah. You know, we’ve talked, but i haven’t gotten to see him as much as I’d like to.

Billy: Well, you’re really busy working on that gaming platform, right? So not a lot of time to do anything else.

Summer: I can’t believe my grandpa would put you in this position. What did you tell him?

Kyle: I didn’t agree to help him push adam out. But I didn’t exactly say no, either.

Summer: Wait, so you’re actually giving this some consideration?

Kyle: Well, I don’t want to get in the middle of a newman family squabble, but adam has a track record of betraying anyone who’s close to him. He could wreak havoc on everything my dad and grandfather built.

Summer: But jack can keep him in line.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] I know my dad has a soft spot for adam and there were 10 million reasons not to give him the job, but he gave it to him anyway. I do not trust my dad’s thinking on this.

Summer: Why does jack have such affection for somebody who’s so ruthless and cold-blooded, anyway?

Kyle: I don’t know. I will never understand my dad’s allegiance to adam.

Victor: I’ve got to tell you very honestly that it hurts me a great deal to realize that you’re going to such great lengths to cut your ties to your family.

Adam: Yes, I’m sure it’s very frustrating for you that I don’t just mindlessly fall in line like my siblings.

Victor: That’s putting it mildly.

Adam: Well, I’m sure that you’ll get over it. You usually do.

Victor: Listen to me. I hope that one day you won’t have the same situation with your son, connor, when he grows up and tells you he wants nothing to do with you, he ices you out of his life. How would you feel about that?

Adam: [ Clears throat ] I think that sounds like a very far-fetched hypothetical.

Victor: No, son, no. That is how you’re treating me, son.

Adam: No, my relationship with connor is much different than what you and I have.

Victor: This is what I —

Adam: I would never do what you’ve done to me.

Victor: This is what I said about my own father. He was a bastard who left his family destitute…so that I had to grow up in a damn orphanage. And I swore I would not treat my children that way.

Adam: I’m sure we come from a long line of men who wish that they were better fathers than their own.

Victor: I’m not getting through to you, am I, son? I seriously doubt our ancestors gave a damn about the subtleties of parenting.

Adam: And, what, you do?

Victor: I do, and I have. And I’ve come to the conclusion that all we do is the best we can. Now, is that what you want to do — have a conversation from father to father?

Adam: I understand that you’ve had to overcome a lot to become the man you are, and i appreciate that.

Victor: But?

Adam: But you’re a ruthless businessman who claims to put family first.

Victor: I always have, and i do now.

Adam: Your actions repeatedly say otherwise. No, what you do is you use the image of a family man to justify some pretty abhorrent behavior. So, from my point of view, you’re a hypocrite at best. Now, is that the kind of father-to-father talk you were hoping for?

Victor: No. But it’s not unexpected. I just really wish that you would realize that all I’ve done in the past in regard to you is tried to protect you, educate you, give you the tools to deal with the slings and arrows that life will throw at you.

Adam: You know, what I found, dad, is what life usually throws at me…is you.

Victor: You’re crossing a certain line. However, I hope that your son will not one day tell you that family means nothing to him, that your love means nothing to him, that he can go to hell. How would you feel about that?

Adam: I just think it’s pretty low that you would use my son — a child — to try to pull me back into your orbit, dad. You know, there are moments in life when you just do what you have to.

Adam: Right. Because it’s always about you and what you want, right?

Victor: You’re damn right it’s about me, as your life is all about you. And I’ve done pretty damn well, okay? I’ve raised an enormous empire and a great family. And you, my son, were raised on a farm in kansas not because of my choice — because your mother wanted it that way, not I! I wanted to raise you here. You have never forgiven me for that. What will it take for you to finally come to your senses? I hope that you will never have to experience what I’m experiencing right now with your own son.

Adam: [ Sighs ]

Diane: You don’t need to come to chicago with me. It’s a one-person job.

Jeremy: It doesn’t have to be.

Diane: Yes, but I have it all planned out, down to the last detail. There’s not a lot of room for improvising.

Jeremy: Maybe if I just tagged along.

Diane: [ Chuckling ] Jeremy, you can’t throw last-minute variables into a carefully laid-out plan. It’s too risky. You taught me that.

Jeremy: You need more flexibility.

Diane: You know, I — I don’t get this. I don’t get this. If you’re willing to put the whole thing in jeopardy, it kind of makes me wonder what you’re really after.

Jeremy: It sounds like you don’t trust me.

Diane: Well, trust is a two-way street, isn’t it? I don’t need you looking over my shoulder. You asked me to do something to prove that I’m serious, so let me do it.

Jeremy: But if I knew a little bit more about your operation, maybe I could help.

Diane: No, no, no. This one’s all mine. And nikki newman will be screaming her head off, demanding that the person who stole her precious jewelry be brought to justice. That in itself makes it worth the risk. But I will also have the pleasure of presenting you with an exquisite piece, a tribute and guarantee of my loyalty.

Jeremy: Okay. Okay. The robbery is yours.

Diane: Good.

Jeremy: But [Sighs] Why don’t we go back to my room for a little nightcap before you take off?

Diane: [ Chuckles ] I am on a strict timetable, but I promise I will let you know the second I get back.

Devon: Lily lashed out at me for backing out of the ipo. She doesn’t trust my instincts that it’s gonna hurt the company and katherine and neil’s legacy. She said that I betrayed her, compared me to victor.

Abby: [ Sighs ] She’s just upset. You were both so excited about the merger. You were looking forward to it.

Devon: I know. We were. At first. Until I realized that the business was being pulled in a direction that didn’t make me feel comfortable, and then it made me rethink everything.

Abby: Look, I think you’re right. I think you should trust your intuition. But also remember you both went into this deal with the best of intentions. And lily is your sister. You guys have a bond that can’t be broken. This is nothing like the situation with tucker.

[ Cellphone pings ]

Devon: Well, speak of the devil. He wants to meet with me.

Abby: Okay. Are you going to?

Devon: No, I’m not going to. I don’t have anything to say to him.

Abby: Look, I get it. Tucker’s proven that he can’t be trusted. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t meet with him.

Devon: I — that’s the last thing I would expect you to say. Why do you think I should?

Abby: Because he’s obnoxiously determined and he won’t give up.

Devon: That’s true.

Abby: I think that you should just meet with him face-to-face. He’s not gonna give up until you do. And tell him that you want nothing to do with him.

Tucker: [ Sighs ]

[ Cellphone pings ]

Chelsea: It must be really exciting making the transition from artist to video game designer. Thank you.

Daniel: It is. Yeah. No, no, no, it is. Um, it’s a little daunting, too.

Chelsea: Well, I think it’s very inspiring. It must be cool making a big change like that.

Daniel: Yeah. Yeah. No, thank you. Um…kevin mentioned that you and chloe ended your partnership?

Chelsea: We did. We did. It had kind of, um, run its course, but she’s still my best friend.

Daniel: Well, that’s good. Yeah. So, what are you up to now?

Chelsea: Uh, I’m just trying to figure out some possibilities, you know, figure out what’s next. But, really, I’m just focused on connor.

Daniel: Oh. How’s he doing?

Chelsea: He’s great. He’s great. How’s lucy?

Daniel: She’s, um — well, she’s good. She’s good. She’s currently on this big, grand adventure with her mother.

Chelsea: Cool. Billy, thank you for the tea. Lily, always a pleasure. Uh, and, daniel, good luck with the project.

Daniel: Thank you. It’s nice seeing you, too.

Chelsea: Good night.

Billy: I’m gonna take off. Enjoy the rest of your night.

Daniel: Wow, that was very pleasant.

Summer: So, all things being equal, you would help my grandpa get adam fired.

Kyle: Look, if victor has a way to send adam packing, i think I should listen.

Summer: Getting involved with my grandpa is a slippery slope, kyle.

Kyle: I know. Mom. What’s going on?

[ Door slams ]

Diane: Oh, good. You’re still here. Have you heard from jack?

Kyle: No. Are you okay?

Diane: Oh, oh, yeah. I-I’m fine. I was with jeremy, who almost threw a wrench in our plan, but I-I handled it.

Summer: Is it even wise for you to be here right now? I saw you looking over your shoulder when you came in like somebody might be following you. Harrison and I were about to get on a plane, but we didn’t because I was told that no one is in danger.

Kyle: It’s okay, summer.

Summer: No! It’s not. This criminal from her past is a real threat. I’m thinking about our son here.

Diane: I share your concerns, but I was very careful, and I am confident that no one followed me.

Summer: But you’re not 100% certain.

Diane: Summer, I get it. You don’t trust me yet. But I am determined to prove to you that I am sincere about the changes I’ve made in my life. And if all goes according to plan, I’ll be able to put this last painful piece of my past behind me.

Tucker: Hi. Thank you for seeing me.

Devon: Sure. Come in.

Tucker: [ Clears throat ]

[ Door closes ] Hello, abby. Always a pleasure.

Abby: You can save your charm for devon. I’m gonna go to the restaurant. Call me later.

Devon: Yeah.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ]

Tucker: [ Sighs ] Um… I know you’re angry.

Devon: That’s good.

Tucker: Yeah. And probably hurt. And I don’t blame you. So I’m gonna be perfectly honest with you.

Devon: Are you even capable of doing that?

Tucker: I just want a chance to explain to you, um, wh–

Devon: I mean, audra was overseeing our whole ipo move, and it turns out she’s been working for you this whole time. So, what’s left to explain?

Tucker: I know it doesn’t look good. I just want to tell you why i did what I did and what I really wanted. One prilosec otc each morning blocks

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Tucker: When you first found out that I was your biological father, you wanted nothing to do with me.

Devon: I remember.

Tucker: Yeah, ’cause that revelation caused a lot of chaos and upheaval in your life, right?

Devon: Mm-hmm.

Tucker: Um, so I tried to be patient and not push any agenda, um, and demonstrate that

[Clears throat] I wanted to be a part of your life as much as you would let me.

Devon: Right. What’s your point, tucker?

Tucker: Well, uh, just… I wanted to be a, um, positive presence in your life, you know? I wanted to show up for you however I could. For instance, I encouraged you to get the surgery for your hearing loss, right? And so slowly — very slowly — um, what started out as a unwanted disruption in your life started to turn into something else, and a little relationship started to form. And, um, I think one of the most positive steps forward was when we produced the song together, right? I just loved that collaboration with you. And I’m pretty sure you felt the same way. Um, anyway… and now I just… I want to have that kind of collaboration with you again. I want to be a part of your daily life, even if it’s not in the recording studio, but in the executive suite. That’s my dream. And ashley was a part of it, too. Mad dream — pull together some massive family conglomerate with ashley, uh — hopefully my wife again — running jabot and you running chancellor-winters. Ridiculous, right? So, that’s my point. I… I just want to work side by side with the two people who mean more to me than anything else in the world.

Kyle: Hey. How’d it go?

Diane: What happened? Were you able to pull it off?

Jack: Well, there were a few tense moments, but it went smoothly, I think. Anyway, here it is.

Diane: Oh!

Kyle: Wow.

Diane: [ Gasps ] Gosh, that’s beautiful.

Summer: Wait a second. I recognize that necklace. That’s — that’s my grandma’S. My grandpa gave it to her a few years ago. I mean, that’s worth a fortune. Wait, wh– what’s going on? Why do you have it?

Jack: Summer, there is a simple explanation — well, not simple. It’s easy to understand. It’s —

Kyle: Stark wanted proof that mom was on his side, so he asked her to commit a crime to be sure she was willing to go to extremes for him.

Jack: He needs to know that she is criminally liable for something. That way, he’s not the only one in trouble if the two of them reunite and start working together again.

Kyle: And this is how we sell it. We present stark with nikki’s stolen necklace.

Summer: Okay, but how did you get it? I know that my grandma wouldn’t have loaned it to you to help diane. I mean, don’t tell me that you actually — you stole it?

Billy: Scotch, neat, please.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Billy.

Billy: Adam, not tonight.

[ Scotch pouring ] Thank you.

[ Sighs ] I’m serious, okay? I’m not gonna do this. I’m not gonna do this dance tonight where I take a shot at you, you take a shot at me, and neither one of us feels any better about it.

Adam: Listen, I feel the same way. You are the last person that i want to interact with tonight, and I know this because the second-to-last person just left here.

Billy: Oh, yeah. I see daddy’s drink sitting right there. Sorry I missed him.

Adam: Yeah, I’m sure you are. Um, so, I don’t really want to engage with you, but I feel like I have to.

Billy: [ Sighs ] What are you getting at?

Adam: You’ve more or less insinuated yourself into my life, and I am tired of it.

Billy: Are you drunk? You’re not making any sense, adam.

Adam: Chelsea, the mother of my son, okay? I know you were instrumental in helping her through the crisis — and good for you — but now you’re just taking advantage of her.

Billy: I’m warning you. Back off, adam.

Adam: You find it enjoyable that chelsea is vulnerable. I mean, you just get off on being her savior. It’s the one thing that you can cling onto in your life. You know, “everything is a wreck, but maybe I will boost my self-confidence by taking care of this poor woman.” Right, billy? Right? I mean, it’s the truth. It’s obvious. And I know that lily absolutely sees it, too.

Billy: Adam, are you not hearing me? I said back off!

[ Both breathing heavily ] Who says you can’t go for bold

Adam: I’m telling you the truth.

Billy: No, you’re blaming me because she’s not leaning on you anymore and it’s killing you. I mean, you are the main reason chelsea ended up in the situation that she did. You have caused her so much pain, adam.

Adam: No, she never said that.

Billy: No, I am saying that. Do you hear me? I am saying that. I mean, you’re pissed off because I’m supporting her? Are you that self-conscious? Are you that self-obsessed? What is wrong with you?

Adam: She doesn’t need you…

Abby: Hey, hey, hey!

Adam: …In her life, billy!

Abby: Stop. Stop. You know what I need? I need for the two of you to knock it off. You’re frightening my customers. And if you want to attack each other, go outside and do it in the cold. And tip your bartender on the way out.

Adam: I’m sorry, abby. I’ll be on my way.

[ Clears throat ]

Abby: [ Scoffs ]

[ Glass thuds ]

[ Chair legs scrape ] Are you okay?

Billy: [ Sniffs ]

Abby: Billy, what’s going on with you?

Jack: Summer, we are merely borrowing the necklace.

Summer: Where did you get it?

Jack: From victor and nikki’s apartment in chicago.

Summer: And you just walked right in and took it?

Jack: Yeah, more or less. I-I knew how to get in and i knew the code to the safe from my time there with nikki and — the important thing is, this will be returned to her before she even knows it’s missing.

Summer: How am I just finding out about this? Did you keep me in the dark on purpose?

Kyle: Yes. I didn’t want you to stress about it.

Summer: About grand larceny? Kyle, that’s something that i should stress out about.

Kyle: Summer, the necklace will be returned, no harm, no foul.

Summer: And what if you can’t return it? What if you get caught?

Jack: This will work, summer. This is all part of a plan to get rid of stark.

Summer: You know what, kyle? This affects more than just you and your mom. If this blows up, it affects everyone. I don’t want any part of this scheme, and, kyle I don’t want you getting any more involved.

Kyle: Summer, I —

[ Sighs ] I’ll fix this.

Jack: [ Exhales heavily ]

Diane: [ Sighs ] This is exactly what I didn’t want — to bring more turmoil to this family.

Daniel: It was just so tense between you and billy. I mean, I know you said that you guys were trying to keep things friendly, but that — that was painful. I mean, I looked over at chelsea at one point and I could see it in her eyes. She was like, “I got to get out of here. I can’t handle this awkwardness.”

Lily: Yeah, well, they’ve gotten really close, so I’m sure he probably told her everything already.

Daniel: Hey. Are you okay?

Lily: No. Um… I’m just really tired. I feel like I want to sleep for a week. But I will settle for six and a half hours. Um, I should go. Thank you for listening to me.

Daniel: Yeah. Hey, any time. You know that, right? Any time.

Lily: Yeah. Yeah, I do.

Daniel: Nothing better than having someone you can vent to whenever you want.

Lily: Yeah. Agreed. Um, have a good night.

Daniel: Good night.

[ Knock on door ]

Chelsea: Coming! What’s wrong? If you think all pads are exactly the same…

Devon: Tucker, I think that having the goal of working with the people that you love and building something together is really nice. That’s actually what I set out to do with chancellor-winters.

Tucker: Yeah.

Devon: But you have to understand that you’re never gonna get anything close to that if you keep going about things the way that you go about them. Because you deceive and you literally lie to the people that you say you care about just to get what you want. And it’s never gonna work for you.

Tucker: But in my heart, what’s m–

Devon: Who cares? What does it matter what’s in your heart when you use every dirty trick in the book? Or when you tell people you changed when you clearly haven’t changed? You said that car accident in monte carlo changed who you are? It didn’T. You’re the same guy. You said you wanted to get closer to me. You’ve done the complete opposite. You’ve alienated me, and I don’t want to have nothing to do with you. And I imagine ashley probably feels the exact same way. So, do you understand how you set out to get everything and you’ve wound up with nothing?

Tucker: Yeah.

Devon: You see that?

Tucker: Yeah. I need to make some changes.

Devon: I — I would say so. But what you really need to do is get out of my house.

Tucker: Isn’t there a way we can fix it?

Devon: I just told you how you can fix it.

Tucker: What can I do to fix it?

Devon: Tucker, listen to me. Look at me. I’m telling you how to fix it. Leave town. You never should have showed up in the first place.

Adam: I’m not here to talk about myself. I’m here to check on you.

Chelsea: Okay. Um…

[ Door closes ] Well, you don’t have to do that. Or pretend like you’re checking to see how I’m doing when really something else is on your mind. Adam, if something’s bothering you, you can just say it.

Adam: [ Chuckles ]

Chelsea: Okay, it’s been a really long day and I was about to go to bed. So, if you want to talk, maybe you can stop by tomorrow, but for now — look at me. I’m fine. Really. I’m just tired.

Adam: You were watching a movie?

Chelsea: Yeah, I was. Adam, it’s late. I think you should go. Please.

Adam: Okay. Okay. We’ll talk tomorrow.

Jack: Look, uh, kyle can smooth things over with summer. We have to stick with our plan.

Diane: Yeah.

Jack: I just pulled off a major heist. I think we’re committed now.

Diane: Yeah, I can’t tell you how grateful I am. You’ve gone to such lengths to protect me. Thank you.

Jack: Look, hold your gratitude for right now. I think it’s only gonna get trickier from here on.

Diane: Well, I am confident we can pull this off. I just — I just know I’m not gonna be able to sleep tonight. I just want this whole thing to be over.

Jack: Okay, don’t let your nerves get the best of you. You have a role to play here. You have to be utterly convincing, or stark won’t believe you. I am with you every step of the way.

Diane: And I’m with you. Your words are so reassuring. When you talk to me, I believe you completely.

Jack: Good. I believe in you. It’s like there’s this whole new layer to you. There was always beauty, there was always strength, there was always wit, but now there’S… this level of courage that i never expected. And I find it very attractive.

Diane: [ Chuckles ]

Audra: That sounds like a threat.

Tucker: Consider it a promise…one I intend to keep.

Audra: You blew it with your son, not me.

Tucker: No, you had one job! One!

Audra: Look, I did my job to a T.

Tucker: Eh.

Audra: Devon wasn’t suspicious of me until he realized that we share the same stupid phone alert.

[Scoffs]

Tucker: What? What are you talking about?

Audra: I guess he didn’t share that part, okay? But this is why he asked if we were colluding against him. Now, why would he wonder about something that could have so easily been dismissed as a coincidence? Because from the moment that he heard that you showed up in town in that ludicrous helicopter, okay, like the attention-seeking narcissist you are, Devon wondered if his dear old dad had an agenda to take over his company. Speaks so well of your personal dynamic. Oh. Have I crossed a line? I’m doing you a favor speaking the truth. You could have reconnected with Devon without all the secrets and lies. But whenever you have to choose between honesty and manipulation, you always choose the latter. It makes you feel like the smartest guy in the room. Only this time, your son was smarter.

Tucker: And now he won’t return my calls. And he’s cut me off from my grandson. My relationship with him means more than any company ever could, and yet he won’t give me a chance to explain. I just want to work side by side with him. I don’t want to… I wasn’t trying to rob him of anything. I wanted — I wanted to build something with him. Just like I was trying to do with Ashley.

Audra: Did things go south there, as well?

Tucker: [Chuckles] Yeah. I guess you could it’s not my day.
Audra: That’s life. Do you want me to cower and beg for forgiveness? Too bad. I am as through with you as you are with me. So that’s not happening.

****”””*†***********

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Hey, Adam.

Adam: [Sighs] Something on your mind?

Kyle: Wow. Is that what passes for “hello” these days?

Adam: You know, if it’s all the same to you, I would really like to enjoy my drink in peace.

Kyle: Huh. You know, I think I know what this is about. You’re having trouble dealing with the fact sally chose the superior brother.
Adam: You know, I don’t recall you being a particularly big fan of Sally’s, and now you are glad she’s involved with your father-in-law instead of me. Hmm. I doubt summer shares your enthusiasm, so you might want to keep that one to yourself.

Kyle: As usual, you’ve twisted my words around. I was just making an observation.

Nick: Son, when are we gonna start meeting someplace a little more happening? Clearly, this place isn’t taking off the way you’d hoped.

Noah: Alright, well, maybe not for a happening guy like you, but I seem to be satisfying all my other patrons. You know, besides, this place is my life now. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Nick: I’m as content as you are.

Noah: Okay, I’m gonna ask you something. Fair warning — you might not want to answer it right now.

Nick: [Laughs] Well, now I’m curious. What’s up?

Noah: This whole sally thing. I’m interested to know how serious it is.

*********”*””””””””””””””””””””””””””

Nick: How serious is the Sally thing? I don’t know, man. How serious is the Allie thing?

Noah: She’s amazing. We love spending time together. We support one another, and i appreciate her more and more every day.

Nick: Same.

Noah: Ah, it’s just — it’s that type of love I could really be grateful for, especially after all the Audra stuff. Every day I wake up and I am excited to nourish our relationship and watch it grow.

Nick: [Chuckles] You sound like a self-help guru.

Noah: What can I say? It’s special. She offers support and stability, consistency. It’s just — it’s really nice.

Sharon: I brewed this pot especially for you.

Chance: Oh, wow. Thank you. What do I, uh — what do i detect, a hint of?Cardamom, peppercorns, clove, and cinnamon.

Chance: Oh, wow. That’s why it smells so incredible.

Sharon: Well, I was inspired to add a little spice after our first supper club dinner.

Chance: That was fun.

Sharon: Yeah. I even decided to do a little research and take a look at what other types of cuisines we might be tempted by.

Chance: Great minds.

Sharon: Oh. You too?

Chance: Yep, and I got one question for you. How far off the beaten path are you willing to go?

Sharon: That’s a really good question. Hmm. Let me think. I’d be willing to try anything and everything.

Chance: You serious?

Sharon: Yeah, absolutely. Life is short. You got to use all of your taste buds, live on the edge. No more solo dinner ruts.

Chance: Ah, well, alright. Bring on the world, then.

Sharon: Why don’t you try that Moroccan spiced coffee? It was the first time I ever made it, and I’m not sure how it turned out.

Chance: [Chuckles] Well, thank you. I appreciate the warning. Ooh, yeah. Not bad

Victor: Son, I’d watch your tone if I were you.

Adam: Okay, just spare me your advice.

Victor: It’s telling, though, isn’t it? Although you involve me as a villain in any of your stories, you always come crawling back when you need me, don’t you? And that time will come again soon. I promise you.

Adam: You really are insufferable. You know, with an ego as big as his, I’m shocked that there’s room enough for you at the table or enough oxygen for you to breathe. I’ve had enough.

Nikki: This is just what he does. I mean, he has some kind of turmoil going on in his life, and he tries to whip everybody up into a frenzy. Darling, you just need to find a way to let it roll off your back.

Victor: No, maybe I’ll try something else.

Nikki: Well, what else can you do?

Victor: Give him a wake-up call. He needs to hit rock bottom, experience a massive failure, before he realizes where he belongs. That boy’s getting out of line. And I’ve had it.

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

At Society, Adam interrogates Victor about his collusion with Kyle, demanding to know what they were  talking about. Victor lets Adam know that he and Kyle discussed family issues and Adam’s position at Jabot. Adam tells Victor that Kyle can’t be objective about him because he hates that Adam is working there. Adam and Victor start arguing about fatherhood. Victor reminds Adam that he (Victor) had a horrible father, who abandoned his family and left Victor to grow up in an orphanage. Adam tells Victor that he (Victor) uses the image of a family man to justify some abhorrent behavior. Adam calls Victor a hypocrit.

Victor starts talking about Connor and tells Adam that he hopes his own son never treats him the way Victor had been treated by his father. Adam is appalled that Victor would bring Connor into the conversation. Eventually, Victor becomes exasperated and leaves the restaurant.

At Crimson Lights, Billy runs into Lily and Daniel. Lily and Billy keep exchanging sad, despondent looks. Chelsea picks up on Billy and Lily’s vibe, excuses herself and goes through the patio to return to her apartment. After Chelsea is gone, Billy heads to the front door of the coffeehouse, turning around to wish Daniel and Lily a good rest of their night.

Having witnessed what just went on, Daniel is supportive to Lily, telling her that he’s there for her any time and that it’s good to have someone to vent to. Lily is appreciative and tells him that she just wants to sleep for a week but will do with six and-a-half hours.

Adam winds up sitting at the bar in Society and having a drink. Billy walks in and when Adam acknowledges him, Billy tells Adam that he’s not in the mood to get into things with him. He mentions that he doesn’t want the two of them to take shots at each other like they usually do.

However, Adam isn’t having  it. He says that he doesn’t want to engage with Billy, but feels like he has to. He tells Billy that he has more or less insinuated himself into his life and he’s tired of it. Adam admits that Billy got Chelsea through her crisis, but says that now Billy is taking advantage of her. He adds that Billy enjoys that Chelsea is vulnerable and that he gets off on being her savior.

Billy suddenly rises from his seat and gets all up in Adam’s face and repeats his warning for Adam to back off. The men start having a heated argument with loud voices until Abby comes over and tells them to knock it off. She says that they’re scaring her customers and if they want to fight, to do it outside, in the cold. She also tells them to tip their bartender on their way out. Adam says he will go and he leaves.

Adam heads over to Chelsea’s apartment, where she was flashing back with a wide smile to when Billy fell asleep on her couch and she put a blanket on him. When she opens the door, she senses that he is upset and something is bothering him.

He comes inside and claims that he’s just checking on her. When he notices the empty popcorn bowls on the coffee table, he’s aware that she had been watching a movie with Billy Chelsea politely tells Adam that she was about to go to bed when he came over, and that she’s fine, just tired.  Adam leaves and stands outside in the hallway looking pensive, then frustrated.

Abby is in Devon’s penthouse finishing up a salad as they talk about Tucker’s betrayal. Devon receives a text from Tucker, in which Tucker asks Devon for just 10 minutes of his time. Devon replies that Tucker has five minutes. Abby suggests that Devon meet with Tucker because Tucker will never give up reaching out to Devon.  Abby says that Tucker is “obnoxiously persistent.” She tells Devon that meeting with Tucker in person is the only way to be rid of him.

Tucker comes to Devon’s penthouse as Abby is getting ready to leave. She tells Devon to call her later. Tucker delivers a long, heartfelt, sad speech to Devon, letting Devon know that all he really wanted was to work alongside his son. Devon listens as Tucker speaks and Devon  tells Tucker that he keeps reaching out to people he claims to love, in all the wrong ways. Tucker asks what he can do to repair things between him and Devon, but Devon shuts him down and tells him to get out of his house.

The Glam Club, Diane is flirting with Jeremy. He finds it appealing and tells her that he wants to tag along with her when she goes to Chicago and steals a piece of Nikki’s jewelry. Diane says that it’s a one person job and him coming with her would be too risky and put the whole plan into jeopardy. She also tells Jeremy that she doesn’t need him looking over her shoulder. He counters that he might be of help if he knows more about what will go down in Chicago. Diane deflects and ultimately, he  gives in and tells Diane that the robbery is all hers.

Jeremy changes the direction of the conversation, saying that he wants Diane to come up to his suite for a nightcap.  To avoid doing that, she makes up the excuse that she is on a strict timetable and tells Jeremy she will let Jeremy know the second she gets back. Reluctantly, Jeremy relents.

At the Abbott house, Kyle lets Summer know about his meeting with Victor and how Victor wants him to help set Adam up for an epic failure which will result in him getting fired from Jabot. She is appalled by this and by how Kyle tells her that he didn’t agree to help Victor, but he didn’t shut the plan down either. Kyle says that Victor just wants Adam back in the Newman fold, but Summer is critical of the deceit and manipulation Victor has chosen to make this happen. She warns Kyle that getting involved with Victor is a slippery slope.

Diane shows up at the Abbott house after her meeting with Jeremy, which causes Summer to worry that Diane could have been followed. Summer is upset by all the risks Diane is taking and how they will affect her family.

Shortly thereafter, Jack comes home from Chicago with an expensive necklace he stole from Nikki’s jewelry collection. Summer recognizes it as her grandmother’s and remembers that her grandfather gave it to her grandmother.

Jack and Kyle explain to Summer why Jack has Nikki’s necklace and how the theft is part of a plan to help Diane prove her loyalty to Jeremy. Jack tries to assure Summer that the necklace will be returned before Nikki ever finds out it was gone. Summer is outraged and rants about this plan being grand larceny. She lets Jack and Kyle know that she won’t be part of their scheme and that she doesn’t want Kyle involved any further. She runs out of the room in a huff.

Kyle tells Jack and Diane that he will smooth things over with Summer and leaves the room.  Jack then tells Diane that he is impressed by the whole new layer of courage he’s seen in her. She looks into his eyes and they kiss passionately.

Update written by Barbara

At Society, Nick is very surprised when Sally tells him that she will pass on drinking alcohol during their dinner. When he asks her about it, she comes up with the excuse that she wants to get a good night’s sleep and wake up refreshed for her meeting with Jill tomorrow.

As Nick and Sally are talking, Adam walks in and goes to the bar. When Nick notices him, he suggests to Sally that they leave Society and have dinner elsewhere. Sally says that she is okay with Adam being at Society while she and Nick are having dinner there as long as everyone “behaves””.

Since Nick knows Jill quite well, Sally asks him for tips on how to impress Jill. Nick tells her that Sally has already made a good impression on Jill or Jill would not have expressed interest in what Sally has to offer.

Nick also  gives Sally some do’s and don’ts regarding Jill.He says don’t BS her because she’ll see through it,  don’t try and fake expertise so if you don’t know something or get stumped, tell her this, and immediately follow up by mentioning that you know how to find the answer. Among the things Nick tells her to do are be straightforward since Jill is this way, be confident, but not too confident, and just be real. Nick is optimistic about Sally’s impending meeting with Jill.

Sally changes her mind about eating dinner at Society and starts coming onto Nick, telling him that she wants to be alone with him. Once they arrive in her suite, she starts getting Nick undressed, and tells him that she is going to take off his clothing piece by piece. She starts doing that and is hugging him and letting him kiss her on her neck, when over his shoulder she spots the bottle of prenatal vitamins that Chloe left on the coffee table.

Thinking fast, Sally persuades Nick to take a shower with her and has him go turn on the water. She says she’ll join him in a minute, thereby giving herself the opportunity to hide the prenatal vitamin bottle. So, her secret is safe for now.

Tucker arrives at Audra’s suite and goes off on her for messing up his life in Genoa City and blowing things up for him and Devon. He tells her that she was “messy and careless.”  Audra defends herself by telling him that she did her job for him “to a tee”. She talks about how Devon wasn’t suspicious of her until he realized that she and Tucker had the same phone text alert. She also tells calls Tucker an “attention-seeking narcissist”.

While Tucker is in Audra’s suite, Nate shows up and asks if there’s a problem there. Tucker tells him he was just leaving.  After he’s gone, Audra tells Nate that she’s sorry he had to see any of that.  Nate tells her that she didn’t ever mention to him that she knows Tucker.

Nate asks Audra when exactly did she and Tucker forged their alliance. She answers that she and Tucker go back aways. She says that she worked for one of his companies in London and he paid off her business school loans.  She adds that she is beholden to Tucker ever since then. She also mentions that she and Tucker shared both a business and a personal connection.

She also lets Nate know that Devon figured out she was a trojan horse for Tucker in Chancellor-Winters. She was supposed to help him take over the company when it went public, but their plan failed. She lets Nate know that this is why she no longer works for the company. She adds that Devon let her resign quietly, so as not to cause any public embarassment to the company.

Nate reminds her that she had told him she was done with her assignment at Chancellor-Winters and ready to move on. Audra refers to it as a lie of omission.  She also lets Nate know that she would understand if he wants to rescind his offer of employment at Newman Media.  On the contrary, Nate tells her that his offer for her to be his COO still stands. He tells her that he is in agreement with what she said about how “you play to win when you’ve already lost.”

At Crimson Lights, Kyle and Diane are talking and checking their phones to see if they received any hear updates from Jack. He is heading to Chicago to do his part in enabling Diane to pass Jeremy’s loyalty test. Kyle observes that Diane seems to be getting a kick out of the situation, but she assures him that this is not the case and those days are behind her. She also mentions that she wants to be rid of Jeremy for good but in order to keep up the ruse, she has to go to the Glam Club for drinks with him.

After Diane leaves, Tucker comes into the coffeehouse and Kyle needles him about how his plans went astray. Tucker says that he’s not ready to give up on Ashley, which prompts Kyle to let him know that he better hurry because she is leaving for Paris tonight.

Tucker high tails it over to the Abbott house, where he begs Ashley to hear him out. She agrees to listen to what he has to say but tells him to make it quick because she has a plane to catch.  Even with Tucker’s heartfelt apology to her and his urgent plea for her to stay in Genoa City, Ashley wants nothing further to do with him.

She does admit that she was starting to feel something for him again, but no longer wants to pursue it. Angrily yanking his scarf off, she tells him there’s no chance in hell that she would get back together with him. She brings up how he was a “crappy partner” when they had been together in the past, and tells him that he hasn’t changed.

Over at Society, Kyle comes in, spots Adam alone at the bar and belittles him by mentioning that Sally chose the “superior brother.” Victor shows up for a meeting with Kyle. Adam is suspicious, but Victor mentions that he wants to keep up on how things are with Kyle’s family, which includes his granddaughter and great-grandson.

Victor and Kyle go over to a table to speak privately. Kyle guesses that Victor is there to discuss his mother. However, Victor brushes this aside and brings up Adam working as co-CEO at Jabot.

Diane arrives at the Glam Club and joins Jeremy for drinks. He presses her for specifics about the crime she is going to commit in light of the looming deadline. Diane claims that she is headed out to Chicago to steal an exquisite, expensive, one-of-kind piece of jewelry and informs him that the jewelry is Nikki Newman’s. Jeremy questions how she will be able to pull the theft off, and she convinces him that she’s still quite the insider and can get away with it.

Phyllis is about to enter the Glam Club when she spots Diane and Jeremy together. She stays back and doesn’t go in, so she can spy on them and take a picture of them on her phone.

Later on, Phyllis meets up with Nikki at Crimson Lights. Nikki presumes it’s about Diane and says she’s really not interested in hearing anything more about her. Phyllis continues, however, and lets her know that not only is Diane back in town, but she was at the Glam Club with Jeremy. She adds that Diane did not look the least bit scared to be around him. Phyllis also mentions that Ashley is going out of town for a few weeks and asks Nikki how the two of them are going to get rid of Diane.

Back at Society, Victor and Kyle continue speaking about Adam’s role at the Abbott family company and how neither of them wants him working there. So, Victor suggests to Kyle “why don’t we remedy that?”

Sally: What do I want to drink?

Nick: Yeah. Chilly night like this, what sounds better? Maybe a big fruity cab or a cocktail?

Sally: I think I’m gonna pass. But I — I don’t wanna stop you.

Nick: What do you mean, you’re gonna pass? I thought we came out for dinner

and drinks.

Sally: I can’T. I mean, just, you know, because of the meeting tomorrow with jill, I just want to get a good night rest and wake up feeling refreshed.

Nick: Alright. I get it. Are you sure you’re okay?

Sally: I’m great. Don’t I seem great?

Nick: You look great. Actually, you seem a little nervous to me.

Sally: Really?

Nick: Yeah. And I think it’s my fault.

Sally: Why would you think that?

Nick: I asked you out to dinner. You know, I threw you off. You were working with chloe.

Sally: Well, you always throw me off. But in a good way. I don’t know. Maybe I just need a minute to get out of work mode and stop worrying about this big meeting.

Nick: Well, I’m just the man for that job.

Sally: Well, isn’t that the truth?

Nick: Gonna get you out of work mode and into —

Sally: Play mode. Yes, I’m in, you know, ’cause all work and no you know what makes me a very cranky girl.

Nick: Well, we don’t want that.

Sally: No, we do not. I’m really happy that you reached out to me. There’s no one else that I would rather spend the night with than you.

[ Footsteps approaching ]

Diane: Are you sure summer’s okay with not going?

Kyle: It took some convincing, but she finally agreed taking harrison to paris wasn’t necessary to keep him safe. We can do that while the situation with stark is being resolved.

Diane: Well, that’s a relief. It would kill me to think of an ocean between me and that sweet little boy.

Kyle: Uh… [ Sighs ] I don’t suppose you’ve heard anything from dad?

Diane: No, nothing since the last text when he was getting close to chicago city limits. But if traffic’s okay, which it should be at this time of night, he should be getting to nikki and victor’s pied–terre any moment, and he will get in there and swipe one of nikki’s ridiculously showy necklaces and get out of there with no one the wiser.

Kyle: I really hope this goes as smoothly as he said it would. My dad is taking a huge risk if he gets caught stealing from them.

Diane: Kyle, if jack wasn’t certain he could pull this off, he never would have suggested it. He will bring back the jewels, which I doubt that nikki will even miss. And I will present them to jeremy as my very illegal token of affection and loyalty. And then once his doubts are pushed aside, we can get on to the next phase of our plan.

Kyle: And you really think stark is actually going to buy all of this?

Diane: Trust me. Your mother still has what it takes to reel in the big fish. In fact, I’m meeting jeremy for drinks now — soon. What?

Kyle: I’m not gonna lie. I still hate every part of this plan. And it worries me, how wired you seem, as if you’re getting a kick out of the game.

Audra: I e-mailed the signed contract back to you. Thanks so much. I’m very much looking forward to joining newman media.

[ Knock on door ] Uh, I need to get going. Okay. Talk soon.

Tucker: Did you think you could just avoid me after what you did?

Audra: I figured you’d show up at some point.

Tucker: Yeah.

Audra: Let’s get this over with.

Tucker: You were messy and careless. And you have absolutely blown it for devon and me. You failed me, audra.

[ Exhales sharply ] I’m not gonna forget it, either.

Sally: Hmm. Wow. That was surprisingly non-confrontational. So, dinner. Ooh — “pamplona de pollo — a colorful, stuffed, rolled, and grilled chicken breast.” I wonder what it’s stuffed with. Oh, my god, and their dessert of the day is argentinean flan. Have you had it here? It’s absolutely phenomenal. What are you thinking?

Nick: I’m thinking we should just get out of here. Let’s go eat somewhere else.

Sally: Why? I’ve been craving this food here.

Nick: I know, but I saw the look on your face when my brother walked in. I don’t like seeing you stressed.

Sally: Look, if we run every time we see adam, we’re gonna wear out our shoes within a week.

Nick: I want you to have a good time.

Sally: Look, I will, okay? And I refuse to let him get to me.

Nick: You sure?

Sally: Look, as long as everyone behaves, there’s no reason for us to leave. We’ll just pretend like he’s not even here.

Diane: I think you’re misinterpreting things. I’m not excited about any of this.

Kyle: I sure as hell hope not.

Diane: [ Sighs ] Okay, I’ll admit that in the past, the very distant past, I might have been. I used to thrive on the thrill of the game, but not anymore.

Kyle: Do you mean that?

Diane: Yes. I mean it. And rest assured, I am not getting sucked into jeremy’s mind-set. This is about shutting that man down once and for all. And, now, that I will enjoy immensely.

Kyle: I suppose I can’t blame you for that. Look, I just want all of this over with as soon as possible.

Diane: Yeah, me too. Alright. I better get going. I’m meeting him for drinks, and I don’t want to keep him waiting.

Kyle: Here.

Diane: Ah, thank you.

Kyle: Mm.

Diane: [ Exhales heavily ]

Kyle: Hey. Please be careful.

Diane: I will be. I’ve got this.

Kyle: [ Sighs heavily ]

Audra: That sounds like a threat.

Tucker: Consider it a promise…one I intend to keep.

Audra: You blew it with your son, not me.

Tucker: No, you had one job! One!

Audra: Look, I did my job to a T.

Tucker: Eh.

Audra: Devon wasn’t suspicious of me until he realized that we share the same stupid phone alert.

[ Scoffs ]

I just want to work side by side with him. I don’t want to… I wasn’t trying to rob him of anything. I wanted — I wanted to build something with him. Just like I was trying to do with ashley.

Audra: Did things go south there, as well?

Tucker: [ Chuckles ] Yeah. I guess you could it’s not my day.

Audra: That’s life. Do you want me to cower and beg for forgiveness? Too bad. I am as through with you as you are with me. So that’s not happening.

[ Knock on door ]

[ Sighs ] Nate. Come in.

Nate: Hello.

Audra: Hey.

Nate: Is there a problem here?

Tucker: I was just leaving.

Audra: [ Clears throat ]

Nate: I had no idea you knew tucker mccall. What did I just walk in on? Type 2 diabetes?

Audra: I’m sorry you had to see any of that.

Nate: Look, you have every right to tell me it’s none of my business. But since we’re gonna be working together, I’d appreciate it if you’d explain your association with devon’s father. You never happened to mention meeting him.

Audra: You put your faith in me, bringing me on as your ceo. You deserve total honesty. Tucker was here to berate me. Our plan failed, so naturally it’s my fault.

Nate: What plan would that be?

Audra: I was supposed to help him take over chancellor-winters when it went public.

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Kyle: Hi. What’s going on? This is a surprise. When and where? Sounds good. I’ll see you shortly.

Tucker: Kyle.

Kyle: I hope you stopped in to get some coffee before you hop in your car and hit the road since leaving town is the best option for you right about now.

Tucker: Heard the news, huh?

Kyle: Eh, you bombed personally and professionally with ashley and devon.

Tucker: Yeah, I guess so. That’s a nice way of putting it.

Kyle: Yeah, you were crazy to ever think you could get your hands on my family’s company and that you would get back together with ashley, but your ego knows no bounds.

Tucker: I actually abandoned any interest I had in jabot a while ago, but I’m not giving up on ashley quite yet.

Kyle: Hmm. Too bad. She’s heading to paris tonight.

Sally: And that’s one of the good things about launching my own company and setting my own hours.

Nick: No alarm clock?

Sally: It is a violent way to wake up.

Nick: I never really thought about it. With kids in the house, there’s no such thing as “sleeping in.”

Sally: Good point. Um, can I ask you a favor?

Nick: Name it.

Sally: Well, since you know jill so well, do you have any tips on how I can impress her?

Nick: Okay. Obviously, you have made a great impression on her, or she wouldn’t meet with you to hear your presentation. First and foremost, don’t try and B.S. Her. She’s way too sharp. She’ll see right through it. And also, don’t try and fake expertise. Be prepared to back up anything you promise. If you don’t know something or you get stumped, then say that, but immediately follow it with, “but I know how to get you the answer.”

Sally: And that’ll satisfy her?

Nick: Jill is one of the most straightforward people you will ever meet. Also, be confident, but not too confident. But just be real.

Sally: Right. Yes. Total realness.

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Nick: Excuse me. Christian’s nanny. He wants to know if he can watch a movie. “Sure, as long as it’s a short one. Then immediately to bed.” Alright. Back to jill.

Sally: Mm-hmm.

Nick: I have a feeling your meeting with her is gonna go very well.

Sally: Yeah?

Nick: I’m guessing she sees a part of herself in you. She’s very smart and driven and ambitious. She’s worked very hard to prove to anyone who has doubted her that she knows what it takes to be a success. I don’t know if it’s perfectly clear yet or not, but I am a huge fan of yours.

Sally: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: I think you’re beautiful and smart, kind… and unbelievably sexy.

Sally: You know what? I think I changed my mind. I think we should go. ‘Cause I have this sudden, urgent desire to get you alone.

Jeremy: Hey. There you are.

Diane: Hi.

Jeremy: Right on time.

Diane: Mm.

Jeremy: I ordered you a cocktail. Please sit down.

Diane: Ooh, my favorite. Thank you.

Jeremy: My pleasure. So, how is our project going? Don’t leave anything out. You tantalized me earlier. Now it’s time for you to share some details.

Diane: Well…

Phyllis: [ Thinking ] What the hell are you up to now?

Kyle: Sally. Nick.

Nick: Hey, kyle.

Kyle: Have a good night.

Nick: You too.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Hey, adam.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Something on your mind?

As usual, you’ve twisted my words around. I was just making an observation.

Victor: Hello, kyle. Glad you could make it.

Kyle: It was nice to get your call.

Victor: Yeah. Hello, son.

Adam: Wait a minute. The two of you are meeting? Why is that?

Victor: Because kyle and i haven’t talked for awhile and i want to know how my granddaughter’s husband is doing, how the family is doing. That’s what we do as family, something evidently you have forgotten.

Adam: Forget I asked. I hope you two have a wonderful evening.

Victor: Shall we get a table over there?

Kyle: Right this way.

Victor: Thank you.

Diane: I thought we agreed I’d surprise you.

Jeremy: Surely you remember how impatient I get when I want something.

Diane: I remember everything about you, jeremy.

Jeremy: You did have me intrigued when you decided to meet today, but given the fact that you were supposed to deliver the goods, whatever they may be, by tomorrow.

Diane: I have time because i have everything perfectly under control.

Jeremy: Okay. That’s good to hear. But you know I detest being left in suspense. So, why don’t you indulge me and give me more information?

Diane: You know, I could be offended by your seeming lack of faith, or I could simply say you’re spoiling the fun, but, okay, I will indulge you. I am headed to chicago tonight.

Jeremy: Oh.

Diane: Yeah. And by tomorrow, I will present you with an exquisite piece of jewelry, one of a kind, very beloved, very expensive, and very stolen.

[ Laughs ] I’ll check off all the boxes of your request.

Jeremy: So, who are you stealing from?

Diane: Nikki newman.

[ Both laugh ]

Jeremy: Really?

Diane: Yes. She, phyllis, and ashley stuck their nose into my past with you in L.A., And then they lured you to genoa city under false claims that I helped put you in prison. They wanted it to suit their own needs, and they used us as puppets. And they thought they could pull the strings. A little payback would be nice.

Jeremy: Hmm.

[ Doorbell rings ]

[ Knock on door ]

[ Bag zips ]

Ashley: Hey.

Tucker: Hi.

Ashley: You’re wasting your time coming here. I’m leaving for paris soon.

Tucker: Yeah. I realize that I’m the last person you want to see right now, but, um… I’m begging you, if you could just hear me out ’cause I hate the way things ended between us and… just — will you please listen to what I have to say? For copd, ask your doctor about breztri.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Nate: When exactly did you and tucker forge this alliance?

Audra: He and I go back a ways. I worked for one of his companies in london. He paid off my business school loans, and I’ve been beholden to him ever since. Full disclosure — we shared both a business and a personal connection.

Nate: Mm. I see.

Audra: I came to genoa city as his trojan horse into chancellor-winters. Devon figured it out, and that’s why I’m no longer with the company, although devon allowed me to resign quietly so as not to cause any public embarrassment to the company.

Nate: So, when you said you were done with your assignment and were ready to move on from there…

Audra: It was a lie of omission.

Nate: Which is still a lie.

Audra: I was hoping, you know, I had the chance to show you what I can bring to the party as your coo before you learned the whole story.

Nate: Mm. You figured you had a little time, given the distance between my cousins and me.

Audra: I see now how foolish that was. I just wanted so badly to land on my feet and prove my worth.

Nate: At my expense. I hired you without knowing all the facts. That doesn’t make me look good.

Audra: I don’t blame you for being disappointed. But know this. I am thrilled to finally be through with tucker mccall. And I believe my business acumen speaks for itself. I have no doubt you and I can achieve great things together. However, under the circumstances, I’ll understand if you want to rescind your offer of employment at newman media.

Ashley: Say what you have to say. I’ve got a plane to catch.

Tucker: I screwed up. Uh, I played it all wrong. I couldn’t have made more mistakes if I had tried to. But everything I did, every thought I had was in hopes of creating something truly special for you.

Ashley: I didn’t hear an apology. But I guess not getting an apology is better than hearing any more of your empty words.

Tucker: I’m sorry that I hurt you. That’s the last thing I wanted. And, uh, that is not spin. I’m not weaving some story to appease you. I’m trying to show you how, um — how desperately I want your happiness.

Ashley: Is that it?

Tucker: I want you to know that it was never my plan to — to rip jabot away from you or your family.

[ Clears throat ] I just was trying to provide the means for you to, uh, become the star that you are, that I think you are. And I knew that you would never do that at jabot ’cause you’re always under the shadow of your brother and — and your dad. And, uh, that’s why I — that’s why I devised the idea —

Ashley: So, you decided what was best for my life. I don’t even get a say in what goes on in my own life?

Tucker: But I saw the excitement in your eyes, the — the spark…

Ashley: Yeah.

Tucker: …When I — you were excited by it, as i knew you would be ’cause I know you, ashley.

Ashley: Ah. You really don’t know me at all, do you?

Tucker: There is more going on than you care to admit between us. I know you said, “oh, I’m playing you.” The connection you and I have can’t be faked. At least my feelings for you are real. And they’re profound. If you feel half of what I do for you, don’t we owe ourselves the chance to — to find our way back from this? Will you stay? Please? Give us a chance.

Phyllis: Oh! Thank you for getting here so fast.

Nikki: I got nervous when i saw your text. Is this about diane?

Phyllis: Yeah. She’s back, despite everything she led us to believe.

Nikki: Yeah, I heard. Um, I don’t really even want to know what she’s up to.

Phyllis: Oh, well, I have a few things. Um, one of them is making out with jack. And jack was going right along with it.

Nikki: As much as it pains me to hear that, it is no surprise. I mean, he’s been protecting her through this whole thing. Of course she’s gonna take advantage of that.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Nikki: But trust me. One of these days, he’s gonna realize what’s happened and he will regret it.

Phyllis: She’s completely playing him.

[ Sighs ] And then I just saw her with jeremy stark, looking, way less than terrified of him, let me just say.

Jeremy: Stealing something precious from nikki after she tried to do the same thing to you by forcing you to leave your family. Oh, that’s poetic.

Diane: I thought you’d find it as delicious as I do.

Jeremy: And if you could actually deliver, I’d be really impressed.

Diane: Don’t worry. I will.

Jeremy: How can you be so sure? You’ve raised the bar really high for yourself.

Diane: Well, don’t I always?

Jeremy: Still, there are a lot of logistics involved. An ambitious heist like this would be very difficult to pull off on your own.

Diane: Difficult, but not impossible.

Jeremy: As much as I admire your self-confidence, I would like to hear exactly how you plan to pull this off. Trelegy for copd.

Nate: Your story makes so much sense now. When I betrayed my cousins and everything hit the fan, you barely reacted, which at the time seemed a bit strange. Now I realize that you must have been relieved that the spotlight was on me. It never occurred to my cousins that there was another double agent in their midst.

Audra: Apparently. But trust me, I was not nonchalant. Your confession that you were working with another power player in town intending to make a move on the company came as quite a jolt.

Nate: Tucker realized he had some competition.

Audra: Yeah.

Nate: If I had stayed the course with my plan for newman to take over chancellor-winters, it would have ruined tucker’s plan.

Audra: Yeah, or at least forced him to rethink his strategy on the fly, putting him at a serious disadvantage. I mean, if someone’s better than you at playing the game, there’s no one to blame except yourself.

Nate: You really feel that way?

Audra: I have no reason to lie at this point. You play to win, or you’ve already lost.

Nate: Hmm. Agreed. Which is why my offer for you to be my coo still stands.

Ashley: You’re right. This is complicated for me. I started to feel things for you again. I didn’t think it was even possible, but, um… it happened. But, you know, even though I was feeling that pull, you know, whatever that is that you and i have together, I felt it. And my instincts kept telling me that I shouldn’t trust you, and my instincts were dead right.

Tucker: But everything’s out in the open now. So, let’s — let’s —

Ashley: Come on. Stop it. There’s no chance in hell.

Tucker: Why?

Ashley: I have to spell it out for you? You’re a crappy partner, tucker. You were the first time around, and you haven’t changed. You had every opportunity to be honest with me. All you had to do was be straight with me! And you chose not to. Until I saw your son rub your nose in your lies. And I can’t wait to get on that plane so I don’t have to look at you again.

Victor: So, how are things going at marchetti?

Kyle: Oh, very well. We’ve gotten into a groove.

Victor: Oh, yeah. Nice to hear. And how is my beautiful granddaughter and, more importantly, my great grandson?

Kyle: We’re all good.

Victor: Good. Great to hear that.

Kyle: Although I doubt that’s the real reason you wanted to get together. Normally, you would have gone directly to summer or at least invited her to join us.

Victor: Well, what do you think I’m here to discuss?

Kyle: I would assume my mother.

Victor: Hmm. A lot of things to say about your mother. But I shall refrain from doing so right now. Something more important is on my mind.

Kyle: Such as?

Victor: How is adam doing at jabot?

Kyle: [ Sighs ]

[ Lock whirs, disengages ]

Sally: [ Sighs ] Never should have left here in the first place.

Nick: Right? What was I thinking?

Sally: Why don’t I take your coat off?

Nick: Really?

Sally: Mm-hmm.

Nick: Okay.

Sally: But I won’t stop there.

Nick: No?

Sally: Mnh-mnh. I’m gonna keep going, piece by piece, until everything that you are wearing is on the floor.

Nick: I like the way your mind works. Dry skin is sensitive skin, too.

Tucker: How long will you be gone?

Ashley: That’s none of your business. But it’s gonna be nice not to have to think about you anymore, just like it was before you came back to town.

Tucker: Whereas I’ll be thinking about you every minute.

Ashley: My car is gonna be here any second. So, if you have any respect for me, like you keep telling me you do, please go. Now.

Diane: I am disappointed in you, jeremy. Don’t you know by now not to underestimate me?

Jeremy: That’s not —

Diane: Remember, I lived in this town for years. I interacted with all the key players. I was even mrs. Victor newman. A couple of times. No one is more of an insider than I am. And even if I weren’t, there are ways of getting one’s hands on information. Come on. Give me a little credit.

Jeremy: Oh, you are as intoxicating as ever right now.

Diane: Now, that’s more like it.

Jeremy: I believe that i could almost trust you.

Diane: By tomorrow, i guarantee you will be 100% sold.

Nikki: Look at diane, cozying up to that criminal.

Phyllis: Mm-hmm. It’s really disgusting how she keeps stringing jack along while she’s sitting there colluding with this guy.

Nikki: We’ve always known she has no shame.

Phyllis: Alright. While ashley’s out of town for a few weeks, what are we gonna do? How are we gonna get rid of diane?

Nikki: [ Sighs ]

Sally: You know, since you liked my first idea so much…

Nick: Oh. Do you have another one?

Sally: Mm-hmm. Once we are out of all of these clothes, why don’t we go warm up in the shower together?

Nick: I love it. I’m in. Let’s go.

Sally: Alright. Why don’t you go turn on the water and I will meet you there in a minute?

Nick: Alright.

Sally: [ Sighs heavily ]

Kyle: Adam seems to be doing alright.

Victor: Okay. Now, I can’t imagine that you’re too happy that he is at jabot, as your father’s co-ceo, no less.

Kyle: Eh, our paths don’t really cross that much.

Victor: So, let’s be frank with each other. Neither you nor I like the fact that he’s working at your family’s company. So, why don’t we remedy that?

Next week on “the young and the restless”…

Daniel: What, did a bomb just go off in here? You guys okay? Everything alright?

Abby: Do you have an update about dissolving the merger?

Devon: Yeah, I do. And it’s not what I saw coming.

Jeremy: I think we need to seal this new partnership… with a kiss.

Diane: [ Exhales sharply ] I never get tired of this.

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

After finding Billy sitting on the floor in front of her apartment door, Chelsea has him come inside, where he informs her that his relationship with Lily is over. Beyond that, he doesn’t want to talk specifics, so Chelsea persuades him to watch what she mentions was recently voted the dumbest movie of all time with her. As the movie plays and they’re eating popcorn, they both go from serious to smiling to laughing. Billy falls asleep on her couch so she turns the movie off and puts a blanket over him.

Shortly afterward,  Billy calls out her name in his sleep and wakes up shouting “no” as he suddenly sits up on the couch, startling both himself and Chelsea. Chelsea mentions that he had a nightmare and assures him that whatever it was about is not real.

She picks up on how he had called out her name, followed by an emphatic “no” and realizes that she hadn’t thought much about how what happened on the rooftop affected him. Bill lets her know that very often, he has troubling dreams. This leads him to talk about losing Delia and his fear when he found Chelsea standing on the rooftop wanting to end her life.

He lets her know that losing her would have been horrendous, especially having already lost his daughter. Chelsea says that she feels badly about how Billy is suffering, but he reassures her and tells her that she is a bright spot in his life right now. He adds that the world is a better place with Chelsea in it and she returns the sentiment, letting him know that the world’s a better place with Billy in it, also.

Over in the park, Lily is alone, shivering in the cold and feeling utterly miserable and defeated. Daniel comes by and when he sees her, he asks if she would like some company. Lily says that sounds nice, but she’s weary and just wants peace after the terrible day she’s had. She references her break up with Billy and Devon’s plan to jump ship from Chancellor-Winters and buy back Hamilton-Winters.

She adds that at the rate things are going, she’s concerned that Daniel won’t want to be her friend anymore. He reassures her and tells her that this is nothing to be worried about, he’ll always be her friend. He gives her words of encouragement and at one point she leans her head on his shoulder.

Lily mentions Daniel’s OmegaSphere gaming platform at Chancellor-Winters and how it could be adversely affected by the dissolution of the merger with Hamilton-Winters.  She tells him that she can’t guarantee what will or won’t make it to the next stage, but what she can guarantee is that she will do everything in her power to bring his dream to fruition. She tells him that she thinks he’s going to be a success, not just with OmegaSphere, but with anything he sets his mind to.

At The Glam Club, Noah and Nick are chatting. Noah asks about the status of Nick’s spending time with Sally. Nick tells him that things between them are not serious, that he and Sally are just enjoying each other’s company, and keeping their dating uncomplicated.

Meanwhile, in Sally’s suite, she forges ahead with working on the business pitch for Jill that she and Chloe have tomorrow. Chloe feels differently, telling Sally that they’ve gone over everything, they’re well prepared, and Sally should turn her attention to her pregnancy. Sally snaps at Chloe, shuts her down and says that she does not want to discuss it right now. Chloe counters that the clock is ticking and that soon enough, pregnancy announces itself to the world.

Chloe offers Sally a bottle of prenatal vitamins, just like she had taken when she was expecting Miles. Sally dismises her effort, which results in Chloe urging Sally to make an appointment with an OB/GYN. Sally lets Chloe know that she already had an appointment and the test at the doctor’s office was positive.

Chloe tries to convince Sally to tell Nick that she’s pregnant, but Sally is totally resistant. Chloe wonders aloud how Sally is going to keep blowing things off and explaining things away, such as why she’s no longer drinking alcohol.

Nick arrives to pick Sally up for dinner and drinks, and while he is helping Sally with her coat, Chloe discreetly puts the bottle of prenatal vitamins out on the coffee table.

At Society, Sally mentions that she is very hungry, having not eaten all day, and there’s so many delicious sounding dishes on the menu. Nick tells Sally that he’s glad her appetite has returned and jokes about them ordering one of everything on the menu. When he suggests that they should have drinks and suggests a glass of wine or spicy martini for her, she fakes a smile.

Over at the park, Daniel continues listening to Lily and trying to lift her spirits. After awhile, Lily tells Daniel that she has faith him and in his endeavor. She tells him that she may be  the last one standing at Chancellor-Winters, but if her vote counts for anything, she’s 100% behind him and his project. They gaze at the winter scene in front of them in the park.

Chelsea: Billy?

Billy: Hey.

Chelsea: Are you okay?

Billy: Yeah. I’m fine.

Chelsea: Come inside. Come inside.

Chelsea: What’s wrong? Is it lily? Billy. What happened?

Billy: It’s over.

Daniel: Lily. Whoa. Sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you.

Lily: No, it’s fine.

Daniel: Oh, man. Still beautiful, huh? You know, when I lived in genoa city before, I used to come up here all the time. It’s one of my favorite spots in the city. It always gave me that inspiration that I needed. I was just working on omega sphere, and, well, i needed a little creative stimulation, so [Sniffs] Let’s hope this does the trick. Hmm? [ Chuckles ] Opens up those floodgates, gets the creative juices flowing again. I’m really glad they haven’t turned this place into condos yet.

[ Chuckles ] Hey. What’s going on? Do you, uh — do you want to be left alone? Or maybe you’d like some company?

Nick: Son, when are we gonna start meeting someplace a little more happening? Clearly, this place isn’t taking off the way you’d hoped.

Noah: Alright, well, maybe not for a happening guy like you, but I seem to be satisfying all my other patrons. You know, besides, this place is my life now. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Nick: I’m as content as you are.

Noah: Okay, I’m gonna ask you something. Fair warning — you might not want to answer it right now.

Nick: [ Laughs ] Well, now I’m curious. What’s up?

Noah: This whole sally thing. I’m interested to know how serious it is.

Sally: Look at page 3. I think our organization chart needs a little streamlining. Chloe? What do you think?

Chloe: Um…you know, we’ve been at this for hours, going over and over every detail. I think we’ve got it all covered.

Chloe: But what I have to know is — how are you feeling?

Sally: I feel great. Why?

Chloe: Okay, I — I don’t want to push, but the clock is ticking. You need to start making some decisions.

Sally: What are you talking about? I’ve been making tons of decisions, like what kind of charts and graphics should be added to our pitch document and how to sharpen our opening statement, how far to push the budget. I’m focused on, you know, getting our presentation ready for jill tomorrow.

Chloe: Okay, sally, there is, like, a huge elephant in the room, and I’m not going to let you ignore it another second. I’m not playing this denial game with you. You know exactly what I’m asking. You need to start making decisions about your pregnancy.

Additional sponsorship

provided by…

Sally: Chloe, this is hardly the time to be discussing that.

Chloe: Okay. If not now, when?

Sally: I don’t know. Sometime after the pitch. We’ve got to get prepared for tomorrow.

Chloe: I’m not playing this avoidance game with you. I was here with you when you took the pregnancy test. I know it was positive.

Sally: Okay, but what do you expect me to do about that right now? Tomorrow we have one of the biggest presentations of our professional careers, and we cannot afford to blow it. And one positive at-home pregnancy test is not gonna change that.

Chloe: I disagree. This pregnancy could change everything. And you may want to pretend like it isn’t happening, but I know for a fact that it is. So…that’s why I brought these. They’re prenatal vitamins. I took them when I was pregnant with miles, and I think you should start doing the same.

Chelsea: Tell me what happened. Do you want to talk about it?

Billy: No, I don’t, really, not right now. I mean, I’ll tell you at some point, just not right now.

Chelsea: Okay. Yeah, I understand. I get it.

[ Sighs ] For the record, I’m really sorry, especially if I had anything to do with what happened between you and lily.

Billy: Chelsea, this is 100% on me.

Chelsea: You know, sometimes things don’t work out. Sometimes it’s — it’s not anybody’s fault and — you know what? You said you don’t want to talk about it, so I’m gonna stop.

Billy: Yeah, can I just — can I just sit here for a minute?

Chelsea: Yeah. We can just sit. Or — or what’s better than sitting? Movie time.

Billy: [ Chuckles ] Don’t think I’m up for that right now.

Chelsea: Well, I think you could use a little escapism right now and, um — and maybe a snack. You know, popcorn, soda, candy, a little sweet, little salty.

Billy: I think you should probably save that for connor.

Chelsea: It looks like you need it a lot more than connor right now. Plus — plus, I have the perfect film we could watch. It was recently voted the dumbest movie of all time. I figure we can be the judge of that.

Billy: Yeah. Sure. Let’s do that.

Lily: Yeah, company is nice, but I just feel a little talked out at this point.

Daniel: Yeah. Look, that’s cool. I mean, I get it. If you want silence, that’s exactly what I’ll be — silent company.

Lily: I just feel like today has been the longest day of my life. I feel like my whole world has been turned upside down. I spoke with billy about how our relationship is over… talked to devon about how he wants to dissolve our chancellor-winters partnership. And I have no idea how that’s gonna affect our relationship going forward. So, yeah, I think silence is good because I’m at a point right now where I feel like if you and I keep talking, you’re gonna tell me that you don’t want to be my friend anymore. I just feel like everything in my life has fallen apart at once. Vegas heat?

Sally: Look, put those away, chloe. I don’t need them, alright?

Chloe: Based on what I know, you do.

Sally: [ Sighs ]

Chloe: Unless you think you got a false positive or — did you get your period or something?

Sally: Oh, my god. Really, chloe? Why is my menstrual cycle a topic of discussion right now? We have so much on our plate of much more immediate importance. Can we just focus on that?

Chloe: Okay. You know, you can play this however you want to play it, but things are going to get real serious real fast, and you need to start making some plans, starting with taking some supplements. Unless you don’t trust the home test, and in that case, you should make an appointment with your ob-gyn and get an official one.

Sally: I already went, okay? It was positive.

[ Keys clacking ]

Chloe: [ Sighs ] Sally. Sally, this is happening. You can’t avoid it.

Sally: I just can’t handle facing all of this right now, okay?

Chloe: I know that this is a really scary time. It’s a scary time, and it’s something that you might not want to face, but no one ever said that you have to do it alone. Okay. I’m here. I’m here to support you. I have been through this before. I will be there for you every step of the way. And you have the baby’s father’s support, too, right?

Nick: How serious is the sally thing? I don’t know, man. How serious is the allie thing?

Noah: She’s amazing. We love spending time together. We support one another, and i appreciate her more and more every day.

Nick: Same.

Noah: Ah, it’s just — it’s that type of love I could really be grateful for, especially after all the audra stuff. Every day I wake up and I am excited to nourish our relationship and watch it grow.

Nick: [ Chuckles ] You sound like a self-help guru.

Noah: What can I say? It’s special. She offers support and stability, consistency. It’s just — it’s really nice.

Nick: Well, I am happy for you. I remember the feeling of that kind of love. Sally and I are not in that place. At least, not yet. But cheers to you for truly having it all.

Daniel: Is it okay if I speak now?

Lily: [ Sighs ]

[ Sniffles ] Yeah, it’s fine. As long as you don’t say something like, “what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger,” or, “it’s the darkest before the dawn.” I just can’t really handle generic platitudes right now.

Daniel: [ Exhales sharply ] Look…I promise I had no intentions of saying any of those things. But you know what I will say? I will say that you never have to worry about me telling you that we’re no longer gonna be friends. You’re not gonna get rid of me that easily.

Lily: [ Chuckles ] Thanks. I needed to hear that.

Daniel: What’s happening with you — it sucks. It really, really sucks. It’s not fair, and you deserve so much more, so much better, especially from the people who claim to be in your corner.

Lily: [ Scoffs, sniffles ] Yeah, I don’t really know what i deserve. I mean, I’m dealing with the consequences of my own actions, right? Like, I chose to be with billy. I chose to partner with devon. And now I’ve failed in both my personal and professional lives.

Daniel: No. No. No, see, I’m not gonna let you go there. None of this is your fault. You didn’t fail. I — I mean, if anything, you chose to see the best in billy. You know, you were willing to believe that he was capable of this level of growth and maturity that he himself was trying to achieve.

Lily: And I was wrong.

Daniel: You’re an amazing businesswoman. It was an incredible idea to merge your company with devon’S. You didn’t do anything wrong. It’s not your fault if other people can’t see the bigger, better picture.

Lily: [ Sighs ] It’s just so frustrating that i can’t fix this. ‘Cause, like, that’s who I am. Like, there’s a problem, and then I want to find a solution and fix it, you know? It’s like I — it’s like I want to have control or something. And it’s an illusion because in reality, I don’t have control over anything.

Billy: Ohh.

[ Both chuckle ]

[ Both laughing ] Kids can change minds…

Noah: Not yet love with sally or not ever?

Nick: [ Chuckles ] Look, I know you’re not a fan of my involvement with her, but we enjoy each other’s company. That’s where we’re at. We’re happy. Neither one of us feels the need to push her to find this any faster than we’re ready, okay?

Noah: Okay. Okay. I get it.

Nick: Good. Because sally and I are in complete agreement. We’re not gonna make this any more complicated than it needs to be.

Noah: For now. But you know as well as anyone that things can change in the blink of an eye, whether you want them to or not.

Nick: Oh, well, thank you for your sage wisdom, old man, but i think I know a little bit more about complicated relationships than you do. And, trust me, this is not one of them.

Sally: Nick and I have been very clear about taking things slow. I mean, we’re not even in a serious relationship yet.

Chloe: Well, for two people who aren’t in a serious relationship, you sure do spend a lot of time together.

Sally: Regardless of how it may seem to everyone else, nick and I have been very clear with each other. And, trust me, my being pregnant is definitely not in the plan. And the last thing that I want is for nick to feel like I’m trying to trap him into anything by springing this on him.

Chloe: I know nick. I don’t think that he would react that way. He loves being a father. He’s been through this before. He knows that things can sometimes happen. And I bet if you just sit down with him and tell him the truth, he will want to figure this out as a team.

Sally: No. I’m not ready yet. I’m sorry. I need more time.

Chloe: Sally… you don’t have time. Pregnancies don’t work that way. And if you wait too long, they’ll tell the world for you.

Daniel: You know, I know what it’s like to feel powerless. I mean, come on. I lived it. And what I’ve come to realize — control is an illusion. You know, you can’t control other people. The only thing you can control is you and your response to all the things that are happening around you.

Lily: I know. I mean, I keep telling myself that I’ve gotten through worse, but [Sighs] It doesn’t make me feel any better. I still feel horrible.

Daniel: Well, I promise you, you’re gonna feel less horrible as time passes. Look, you’re gonna start to recognize the other things in life that bring you joy, or at least contentment, you know? And inevitably things will get better, even if it doesn’t seem that way right now.

Lily: Is that what happened to you when heather left?

Daniel: Hardly.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah, no. I, uh… well, I crashed and burned, and, you know, I was wallowing in my own self-pity and misery. First I tanked my career, then my relationship. You know, if you want a checklist of what not to do, I’m your guy. I got you covered.

Lily: Well, how long is your list? ‘Cause I may have checked off a few of those items already.

Daniel: I doubt it. You’re just in stage one, you know, the — the hurt.

[ Chuckles ] I was punishing heather and lucy for all the things that i thought had gone wrong in my life or weren’t going the way that they were supposed to, even though none of it had anything to do with either of them. Instead of focusing on the joy of my family, I — I chose to lean into the misery and i dragged them down into it with me. Ultimately, I drove them away.

Billy: Chelsea. No!

Chelsea: Billy. Billy, y-you were having a nightmare. I — whatever it was about, though, it’s over now.

Billy: Yeah, no, I’m — I’m not sure what that was.

Chelsea: You, um — you called out my name. If you don’t want to talk about lily, I understand, but this — this you can talk to me about because I have a feeling that awful nightmare has something to do with that night on the roof.

Billy: [ Breathes deeply ] Hi, I’m angela.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Billy: Thank you.

Chelsea: That night was the most horrible experience of my life. And we’ve talked about that. But we never discussed what it was like for you.

Billy: It doesn’t matter how I’m feeling. It’s — it’s about you. You’re the one that’s healing.

Chelsea: That’s not true. That’s not true. We’re all on the mend. Life is hard for all of us. So, even if your feelings don’t matter to other people, they matter to me.

Billy: Well, thank you for saying that, but I don’t want to burden you with my emotional baggage. You got enough going on.

Chelsea: To be honest with you, at first, I didn’t think about it. I was so caught up in my own situation, it never occurred to me what you had to go through. But then when I could finally think straight, it hit me. And I was too afraid to bring it up to you. But now it’s out in the open, and I want you to be able to talk to me about it because the only burden I’ve been feeling lately, honestly, is not knowing how this has affected you. We’re the only two people in the world who really know what happened on the rooftop that night. So, please…talk to me.

Lily: I’m really sorry. I can only imagine what a wake-up call it was when heather and lucy left.

Daniel: No. No, not at first, anyway.

[ Chuckles ] I mean, don’t forget I’m your poster child for the checklist of what not to do, remember? No, no, no, I-I — I went a little crazy, found myself in my own little self-destruct binge. I was on it for a while, too.

Lily: I think you’re being too hard on yourself.

Daniel: Nope, I’m not. Trust me. But you know what? Now I’m on a mission to try and make things better in my life. Maybe one day better for my daughter’s life, too. Look, lily, you’re — you’re already a good person, you know?

Lily: Yeah.

Daniel: You are. You’re strong. You’re kind. You’re fair.

Lily: [ Sighs ]

Daniel: You didn’t let anyone down. Billy failed you. And devon — you know, by choosing to dissolve your chancellor-winters partnership, he failed everyone.

Sally: [ Sighs heavily ] Look, please, chloe, can we just table this whole baby discussion for right now, okay? Nothing needs to be figured out right this second. And I think we’re about as prepared as we can be for our presentation tomorrow, so maybe we should just call it a night.

Chloe: Oh, um…okay, you don’t want to work on our statement a little bit more?

Sally: I know that we said we needed to prepare more, but i changed my mind. I think we’re good. You know, we want it to be spontaneous. We don’t want it to seem rehearsed. And besides, nick is gonna come down from the club and we’re gonna go do dinner and drinks.

Chloe: How are you going to explain to nick that you’re suddenly on the wagon and that you can’t have a drop of alcohol enter your system?

Sally: I-I… I’m just gonna remind him that I’ve had an upset stomach.

Chloe: Okay. You’re still dodging reality. You’re still in denial. You know that that excuse is only going to work for a short while. Soon you have to face the facts.

For your most brilliant smile,

crest has you covered.

Lily: What do you mean that devon failed everyone?

Daniel: Well, you know, it’s obvious how he failed you. I mean, he was supposed to be committed to family and building something together, but, you know, by choosing to walk away from your partnership, he not only let you down. He failed himself.

Lily: How do you figure that?

Daniel: Imagine how much better he could be with you by his side. You know, with your business acumen [Chuckles] — Think about it — the two of you, you could rule the world. Devon failed himself more than he could have ever failed you. And now — now he won’t have your brilliant mind working side by side with him.

Lily: Well, I do appreciate your high opinion of me. But with everything in flux at chancellor-winters, I still feel like the biggest loser. And, look, I — I really hope that things work out. But I can’t really make any guarantees as to what will or won’t make it through to the next stage.

Sally: Enough, chloe. Really, okay? I’ll figure something out. I’ve got this.

[ Knock on door ]

Nick: Hey.

Sally: Hi.

Nick: Hey, chloe. I didn’t know you were here. Am I interrupting something? Do you guys want me to wait out in the hallway while you finish working whatever it is you’re working on?

Sally: No. We’ve just been working on our pitch all day, so I’m sure chloe’s just tired.

Nick: Oh, that’s right. That is tomorrow. I’m sure you want to get some rest. So, if you want a rain check, that’s okay.

Sally: No way. I need some time to unwind, and you are just the person I want to do it with.

Nick: How about you, chloe? You got to be starving after all your hard work. Do you want to come and join us?

Chloe: I would love to, but i really got to get back to the kids.

Nick: Okay.

Sally: Alright. Well, it is settled then. But you’re right. I’m starving. So, let’s go.

Nick: Let me help you with that.

Sally: Thank you.

Billy: [ Sighs ] When I walked out onto that rooftop and I saw you… standing up on the ledge… I mean, I just — I froze. You were just staring off into the oblivion, and you weren’t taking in the skyline. And from that moment on, everything was instinct, trying to say the right thing, anticipating your moves.

Chelsea: I’m so sorry. That must’ve been terrifying.

Billy: Well, I definitely felt fear. Felt a lot of guilt.

Chelsea: Wh-why would you feel guilt?

Billy: ‘Cause I’m the one that showed you that spot…

Chelsea: [ Sighs ]

Billy: …As a place to, you know, release your negative thoughts. I never in a million years thought that you’d be back up there to… but there you were. And if I hadn’t said the right things, if I didn’t make the right moves, it was gonna happen all over again.

Chelsea: What do you mean, again?

Billy: [ Breathes deeply ] Delia. And I wasn’t able to save my daughter and…

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] I — i never — I never made that connection.

Billy: [ Sighs ] You know, in a way, this has been like a do-over, you know? It’s like I had an opportunity to — to do the right thing or to screw up and to live with another horrific loss that would stay with me for the rest of my life.

Chelsea: [ Voice breaking ] I’m so sorry. Even in that moment, that would be the last thing I would ever want.

Billy: I know. I know that. And fortunately, it was different, okay?

Chelsea: [ Sniffles ]

Billy: I was able to get you off the ledge, and I was able to persuade you to not give up. But still…the what-ifs — they’re still with me. And I dream almost every night i don’t get there in time and I — I don’t say the right things.

[ Voice breaking ] And it’s like it —

[ Breathes deeply ] It plays out in slow motion. And it’s like my heart is just wrapped in a fist.

Chelsea: [ Breathes deeply ] When you’re through with powering through,

Sally: [ Sighs ] I don’t know how I’m gonna decide. All these specials look amazing. I just realized I have been so busy that I haven’t eaten all day. I guess I did not realize how hungry I actually was until i saw all these delicious things on the menu. I don’t want to hear any comments or complaints about how much I’m about to order.

Nick: I wouldn’t dream of it. I’m just glad your stomach’s feeling better and you got your appetite back. So, get whatever you want. In fact, why don’t you order one of everything?

Sally: Well, I might take you up on that.

Nick: Let’s do it. But first, let’s get some drinks so we can toast your inevitable success. What do you feel like? How about a glass of wine? Or maybe a spicy martini?

Chelsea: I knew what happened had an effect on you, but i never imagined it was so strong.

Billy: I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said anything to you.

Chelsea: No. You had to. You had to tell me this. My actions put you in a horrible position, billy, because you were just there because you cared. I hate that you had to witness that.

Billy: Well, I don’T. Look, whether I made it there on time or not, if I would have lost you, the pain would still be the same, chelsea. We’ve known each other for a long time. We’ve been through a lot. And here we are.

Chelsea: Standing strong.

Billy: And the world is a better place with you in it. It’s more interesting. It’s a lot more fun. It’s deep, and it’s — it’s real. And you are a bright spot in my day right now, and I wouldn’t change that for anything. You understand?

Chelsea: I do. And for the record, the world is a lot better with you in it, too.

Daniel: Penny for your thoughts?

Lily: [ Chuckles ] No, thanks to you, I do feel a little bit better. I mean, I know I’ve been through worse than this, you know? And I have always come out stronger for it on the other side.

Daniel: Ooh. That is starting to sound an awful lot like “darkest before the dawn” talk.

Lily: [ Chuckles ]

Daniel: Should I, um, get out my book of clichés? You know, I do carry one with me at all times, you know, for special occasions such as this.

Lily: Ha, ha.

Daniel: [ Laughs ]

Lily: Thanks for being such a good friend and helping me process another one of life’s struggles.

Daniel: That’s what friends are for.

Lily: [ Laughs ]

Daniel: Come on. Allow me at least one cliché. You had one!

Lily: Okay, fine, fine. Just one. Just one.

Daniel: Good.

Lily: I want you to know that I think you’re gonna be a success. And not just with omega sphere, but with anything that you set your mind to. And, look, I can’t guarantee what the future will hold at chancellor-winters, but what i can guarantee is that I will do everything in my power to bring your dream to fruition.

Daniel: Thank you. That’s all I could possibly ask for.

Lily: And I really hope heather and lucy notice ’cause i know that’s why you’re doing this — to show them how much you love them and want to fix things.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] You really do know me, don’t you?

Lily: You’re doing something special, and I hope they see that.

Daniel: Me too. I do have my doubts, though.

Lily: Look, it’s fine. You got off track. But I have faith in you and in your endeavor. And, you know [Scoffs] I may be the last one standing at chancellor-winters, but if my vote counts for anything, I am 100% behind you and your project.

Daniel: [ Breathes deeply ] Well, I guess we can’t fail, can we?

Lily: No.

[ Laughs ]

Daniel: [ Breathes deeply ] I never get tired of this.

Diane: Good morning. You’re up and at it early.

Jeremy: Being incarcerated has given me a new appreciation for life. I don’t like to waste time.

Diane: Is that the tie I gave you all those years ago?

Jeremy: Mm. I’m flattered you remembered.

Diane: Ooh, I like your style, which is why I am carefully planning how to surprise you with my act of good faith.

Jeremy: Sounds like you’re enjoying your assignment.

Diane: Maybe a little. It’s been lovely being back in Genoa City playing
mother and grandmother, but I am a woman with wants and needs.

Jeremy: Hmm. Yes, you are. Please sit down and catch me up on this plan of yours. I am dying to know all the details

***************************************

Jack: What kind of evidence did you find?

Ashley: Um, Jabot’s financial information.

Jack: Oh, geez.

Ashley: You know, the same reports that Diane was supposed to get for him.

Jack: Diane said that never took place. She never passed on any intel. He confirmed it.

Ashley: I don’t care, okay? They’re both pathological liars. Let’s just leave it there.

Jack: You okay?

Ashley: I’m fine.

Jack: I can’t help but wonder if a part of you wishes you were wrong about Tucker’s motives. I know the two of you have spent a lot of time together. Is it possible that in trying to win his trust, maybe he succeeded in winning back some of yours?

Ashley: I was always in control, Jack. I knew what I was doing, and I still do. You are the one that’s being fooled by a manipulative ex.

Jack: And there it is — the hostility toward Diane that colors your whole life.

Ashley: And you are colorblind

Young & The Restless Update

Y&R logo

Update written by Barbara

Victor comes over to Chelsea’s apartment where he tries to get her to tell him about what’s troubling her. When he offers to help her and she shuts him down, he reminds her of how he helped her in the past. He reminds her how his efforts prevented her from an murder charge in the case of Rey Rosales.

Not one to be deterred, Victor continues, mentioning that Connor would be welcome at the ranch if Chelsea ever needs a break. She lets him know that Connor is thriving and there is nothing to be concerned about.

There’s a knock on the door and it’s Adam, who is quite bothered by seeing Victor in Chelsea’s apartment.  Victor tells him that he can visit anyone he wants to, which irritates Adam even more. Adam lets Victor know that Chelsea is off-limits and tells Victor to leave.

After Victor departs, Chelsea tells Adam that she is fine and mentions that Victor actually helped her see things clearly. She tells Adam that she is wondering if perhaps she should tell Victor about her emotional decline and how it culminated in her wanting to terminate her life. Adam is against this because he’s leery about how Victor might react.  Chelsea tells Adam that it seemed like Victor genuinely cares about her.

Chelsea becomes upset as she talks about how she nearly killed herself on the rooftop that night. She mentions to Adam that she thought that everyone would be better off without her and she’s come to realize that ending her life would have caused tremendous pain to everyone who cares about her. Adam assures Chelsea that what happened with her was just one terrible moment in time and that she is wonderful with Connor.

He suggests that they go outside for some fresh air and go get some food but Chelsea declines, telling him that she is still not comfortable with the outdoors and her place in. stay there and she tells him that she’d rather be alone, if he doesn’t mind. Adam understands and goes.

At his Devon’s penthouse, he leaves Lily a voicemail about needing to fill her in on the situation with Chancellor-Winters. Meanwhile, Lily is in her office when Billy shows up. He mentions spending the night in the guest room to give her some space.

He does the same romantic gesture he did on Valentine’s Day 2022, with red wrapped heart-shaped chocolates in each of his hands.  Lily understands that it’s a reminder of that special day, but adds that they cannot go back.

Billy urges her to try again but she doesn’t feel that anything will change. Billy says that his heart feels like it’s going through a meat grinder, but this is the most adult breakup he’s ever had. Lily chuckles and tells him that she hopes he finds the happiness he is looking for. They share a heartfelt goodbye embrace.

Later on, a miserable and upset Billy finds himself sitting on the floor in front of Chelsea’s apartment. When she opens the door and sees him sitting there, he tells her that his relationship with Lily is over.

Lily goes over to Devon’s place after finding out from Jill that Devon wants to buy back Hamilton-Winters, thereby ending their business partnership. She is furious that Devon made such a momentous decision without even talking to her about it. She adds that she is appalled that Devon would threaten to go public with his opposition to the IPO if he can’t  have his way.

Devon counters that he never thought the merger was a good idea and that he should have paid attention to his instincts a long time ago.  He tells Lily that at this point, he should resume running Hamilton-Winters and she should go back to being at the helm of Chancellor.

Lily mentions that it feels like Devon is stabbing her in the back and adds that she he’s sabotaging her and asks how he’s any better than better than Nate in this respect.  Devon is outraged at the comparison to what Nate tried to do to them. A few moments later, she tells Devon that he’s acting more like Victor and nothing like Neil.

Over at Crimson Lights, Sharon is flirting with Chancellor, saying double entendres as they have a lighthearted conversation about trying new cuisines. She references their upcoming supper club meals.

Abby walks in to the coffeehouse and sees Chance and Sharon smiling and laughing. Abby asks to talk with Chance on the patio. Once there, Abby tells him that she hasn’t seen him smile like that in quite awhile.

Chance is impatient and wants Abby to just tell him whatever it is that’s on her mind. She replies that she has made a decision that affects him. Abby lets Chance know that she feels it’s time to move out of the Chancellor mansion.

Chance tells her that he presumes this means she’s moving in with Devon and moving on with him. Abby takes offense to what Chance says. She wonders if that is the kind of person Chance considers her, that she’d just slide into another relationship before the ink on their divorce papers is even dry. Chance tells her that he doesn’t really know who she is anymore and raises his voice at her when he mentions that she spends every waking moment with the guy that ruined their marriage.

Chance and Abby decide that it would not be prudent to uproot Dominic from the only home he has known, so Abby says she will stay put for now.  After Abby leaves, Chance apologizes to Sharon since she had to witness him going off on Abby. Sharon tells her no apology is necessary and mentions that he’s been bottling up a lot of emotions lately and it’s not healthy. She says that not talking about what he’s going through and feeling can slow down the healing process.

Chance opens up to Sharon about how angry and he is, and that he feels an enormous sense of failure. Sharon points out that he was not the one who cheated. Nonetheless, Chance tells her that he wonders if he was wrong taking the assignment overseas, leaving Abby in Genoa City all alone to handle the surrogacy and pregnancy.

He adds that he made too many mistakes when he got back and that he got lost in his job. He adds that his problems stem from who he is, which is tied to whwat he does, and without it he wouldn’t know who he is.

After her upsetting encounter with Chance, Abby shows up at Devon’s penthouse. As he opens the door,  he tells her that he’s happy to see her face. Abby is insecure about Devon really meaning this and she worries about running to him every time she has a problem. Devon assures her that he’s always happy to see her and that he wants her to feel she can always come to him when needed.  Abby and Devon give each other a heartfelt hug, in light of the highly charged situations they find themselves in.

Victor goes to Society to meet up with Nikki. He tells her that he’s concerned about Chelsea and whatever it is that she is hiding.  Adam shows up and blasts Victor, telling him to stop trying to control his family and mentioning that they will never be under Victor’s thumb. Once Adam is gone, Nikki suggests that Victor try to just let it roll off his back.

Victor tells her that he’s going to try a different approach with Adam. He asserts to Nikki that Adam needs a wake up call, that he needs to hit rock bottom with massive failure, to realize where he belongs. Victor then states emphatically, “that boy is getting out of line … and I’ve had it.”

Chelsea: I’m sorry. Did you say reschedule? Well, isn’t there any way dr. Malone can fit me in after — okay. Um, I understand.

[ Knock on door ] Can you just hold on one second? Thanks.

Victor: This a bad time?

Lily: Hey. This is a surprise.

Billy: Yeah, well, when i woke up in the guest room this morning, I thought I would give you a little bit of space, given where we left things.

Lily: So, what are you doing here now?

Billy: Play a game with me.

Lily: Um…a game?

Billy: Come on. Pick one. For old time’s sake.

Lily: Um…that one.

Billy: Hmm? Do you remember?

Lily: Valentine’s day, 2022.

Billy: Yes. That’s right. You remember. It took a lot to find the exact one that I gave you last year.

Lily: Yeah, I remember you filled my desk with them. It was very special.

Billy: Yes, it was. I don’t want to give up on us, lily. That little piece of sweetness is a reminder the millions of incredible things that we’ve shared and the possibility of millions more. I don’t want to walk away from this. Do you?

Sharon: I brewed this pot especially for you.

Chance: Oh, wow. Thank you. What do I, uh — what do i detect, a hint of?

Cardamom, peppercorns, clove, and cinnamon.

Chance: [ Chuckles ] Well, thank you. I appreciate the warning. Ooh, yeah. Not bad.

Victor: Someone waiting on the phone?

Chelsea: Oh, um… uh, I’m gonna have to get back to you. Thanks. Come on in.

Victor: Thank you. I hope it wasn’t important.

Chelsea: No, no, it’s nothing that can’t wait. Um…

[ Door closes ] Have a seat. Would you like a cup of coffee or something?

Victor: No. No, thank you.

Chelsea: Okay. You know, I meant to tell you, connor really loves that soccer video game you got him.

Victor: Really?

Chelsea: Mm-hmm.

Victor: That’s nice.

Chelsea: Yeah. And recently adam told — told him how you were the first person to get him a soccer ball.

Victor: So, he remembered?

Chelsea: Yeah. Yeah. Fondly.

Victor: That’s so nice. I think it — it made connor feel important, you know, like he’s part of a family tradition.

Victor: He is. And you know how important family is to me.

Chelsea: I witnessed that firsthand on christmas.

Victor: [ Breathes deeply ] Do you have any idea why I’m here?

Chelsea: Well, I know you’re not one for small talk, so

[Sighs] I assume I’m about to find out. Only daisy cottage cheese will do

Devon: Lily. Hey. I’m working from home today, taking care of dominic. But I just wanted to make sure that you had some free time to meet with me later ’cause I have something important to discuss with you and I want to make sure you hear it from me first. So, I’ll talk to you soon.

[ Sighs ] I have a feeling your great grandmother is probably pretty disappointed in me right now. And I’m worried that when lily hears the news, things are gonna get even worse.

Lily: What if I had chosen your other hand?

[ Chuckles ] I wish our relationship were that easy to rig. But we can’t go back, billy.

Billy: No. We can’T. But we know where we’re coming from. And, look, that first couples counseling session was a disaster, okay? But that was 45 minutes with someone that doesn’t know us. But I agree that we need to put more effort in. I need to put more effort in since I acknowledge that I’m the problem here.

Lily: We would still wind up in the same place. The things that we said during that session — I’ve been feeling that way for months. And I know you have, too. You just don’t want to admit it.

Billy: Lily, we love each other. Those feelings don’t just vanish into thin air.

Lily: Billy, I loved you every single day, and we still drifted apart. I mean, it’s clear to me that you are dissatisfied with your life. You’re dissatisfied with our relationship.

Billy: No, that’s just simply not true.

Lily: Okay, then the alternative is worse then. I mean, are you happy with being in this place where we’re barely even roommates?

Billy: This is just a moment. And we’ll get past it.

Lily: Billy, after that session, I realized that relationships should not hurt this much.

Chelsea: Victor newman popping by for a visit. I’m trying to decide between fight or flight mode.

Victor: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. I come here in peace.

Chelsea: I’m sure you can understand why I’d be a bit reticent.

Victor: Because of recent events?

Chelsea: Yeah. Um… I’m just — I’m not sure how much you’ve been told?

Victor: Well, I’m victoria’s father and johnny’s grandfather.

Chelsea: Right. So, this is about me telling johnny I’m his biological mom.

Victor: And by the way, i want you to know that that is fine with me, okay? And I also am very, very happy that johnny and connor are growing closer together as brothers.

Chelsea: Yeah. It’s heartwarming, isn’t it? They’ve gotten so close.

Victor: Very heartwarming. And I want it to stay that way.

Chelsea: Did something happen?

Victor: Well… over the holidays, you spent christmas with us, and i remember how adam and victoria were paying particularly close attention to you.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Oh. Um, well, you know, it’s the holidays. Everyone’s nicer around the holidays. I wouldn’t — I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Victor: Chelsea, I hate to bring up recent memories, but you do remember how I prevented them from charging you for the attempted murder of rey rosales, right?

Chelsea: How could I forget? What’s your point?

Victor: I’m here to help you again, if you need it.

Chance: You know what we should do? We should get a huge map and some darts.

Sharon: Hmm. Well, if you mean leave it all up to fate, I’ll say —

Abby: Chance. Sharon, hi.

Sharon: Hi. Abby! Um, can I interest you in some moroccan spiced coffee?

Abby: I’m good. Thank you, though.

Sharon: Alright. Uh, let us know if you need anything.

Abby: Thanks.

> Hey, can I talk to you for a second?

Chance: Sure.

Abby: Out there.

Chance: Yeah.

Abby: [ Sighs ] You know, when I walked in and I saw you smiling, I almost didn’t recognize you. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you look that happy.

Chance: Is everything alright with dom?

Abby: Yeah. He’s fine.

Chance: Is there a problem? You need something?

Abby: I just wanted to tell you that I’ve come to a decision. 3, 4

Chance: You do realize you don’t have to check in with me about your life decisions anymore, right?

Abby: This decision involves you.

Chance: Okay. What is it?

Abby: I’m thinking about moving out.

Chance: I — I hope you don’t feel like I’ve hinted at that or expect you to just pack up and leave. That’s not the case.

Abby: No, I know. You’ve been very gracious in that respect. I just think it’s time.

Chance: Okay. Well, I guess this can mean only one thing — that you’re ready to move in and move on with devon.

Abby: [ Sighing ]

Billy: I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I’ve caused you so much pain.

Lily: I’m not blaming you for anything. I’m not. I’m just emotionally exhausted. And now I have this nightmare brewing with the ipo, and i can’t talk to you about it.

Billy: Well, yeah, you can. You can talk to me about anything. Look, I know I don’t work here anymore, but I still care.

Lily: I can’T. It’s classified. I have a meeting with devon. I have a call with jill scheduled.

Billy: Okay, so, what are you saying? My time with you is up? Is that it? Is that how this ends, like a bad business meeting that you just want to move on from?

Lily: Billy, this is not easy for me. You might think that I’m the one ending things, but you walked away from us a long time ago. And I understand your need of wanting to find where you belong, but clearly the path you’re taking does not lead towards me. And I really want you to be happy. I do. But I can’t sit back any longer just waiting for that to happen. And what we had — it was beautiful.

[ Voice breaking ] It was. But not every relationship is meant to last forever.

Billy: Well, I thought we could.

Lily: I will always be grateful to you for being a loving partner. After my marriage ended, you helped me find missing pieces of myself. After cane, after prison, after losing my father.

Billy: And now you’re strong enough to go about it on your own.

Lily: And I loved working with you. I loved building chanccomm, building chancellor, merging into chancellor-winters I loved it all. It was so special. And all of the romantic dinners after hours, the chocolates, the being tangled up in each other at night. We were perfect. Until we weren’T. And now it’s over.

Chelsea: I appreciate your offer to help, but it really isn’t necessary.

Victor: I want you to know that my only concern is the welfare of my grandson, okay?

Chelsea: Connor’s doing fine. There’s nothing for you to worry about.

Victor: But he’s a growing boy now, and I don’t want him to be burdened with the problems of the adults around him.

Chelsea: How could you even imagine I would let that happen?

Victor: Something is troubling you. And I want you to know that I’ll be here to help you if you need that help. You’re a part of our family now. And when someone in my family falls down, the rest of us come and help them get up, okay? You know, nikki and I love that boy. We really do. And being a grandparent is like being a parent. One is only as happy as the unhappiest child.

Chelsea: That’s true, but connor is — he’s the happiest kid I know.

Victor: And we want him to stay that way.

Chelsea: Yeah. Well, I’m glad we’re on the same page, and I will let you know if we need anything, but, truly, connor’s thriving.

Victor: Okay. Just remember, if you want to take a break, if you want to get away for a while, nikki and I — we’ll be there. We’ll step in, alright? We’ll take care of the boy, okay?

Chelsea: Okay.

[ Knock on door ]

Adam: Hey, chelsea. It’s me. Hi.

Chelsea: Hey. Good to see you.

Adam: Yeah.

Victor: Hey, son.

Adam: What the hell is he doing here?

Victor: I’m having a conversation with the mother of my grandson. That an issue for you?

Adam: Yes, as a matter of fact, it is. When you can barely smell your plug-in,

Adam: If you have something to discuss regarding connor, come to me.

Victor: Son, I talk to whoever and whenever I want to, alright? And obviously you’re incapable of telling me what’s troubling chelsea.

Adam: Because her life is none of your business, okay? She’s not gonna say this, so I’m gonna say it for her. Consider her off limits.

Victor: Are you truly alright, chelsea?

Adam: Listen, if there is anything for you to worry about, I’ll let you know.

Victor: Just know that you can come to me anytime, alright? And once again, nikki and i love your boy. So, whenever you need us, you call us.

[ Door closes ]

Adam: [ Sighs ] I am so sorry that he did that. Are you alright?

Chelsea: I’m fine.

Adam: He doesn’t have the slightest idea about what boundaries are.

Chelsea: I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but I think victor newman just helped me see things more clearly.

Billy: You know, even though it feels like my heart’s being pushed through a meat grinder right now, this is the most adult breakup I’ve ever had.

Lily: [ Chuckling ] Yeah. I guess we’re growing up.

Billy: It’s about time, huh?

Lily: [ Chuckles ] I really hope you find what you’re looking for.

Billy: I wish I was as strong as you.

Lily: [ Sighs ] You are.

[ Cellphone ringing ] That’s probably jill. I won’t say anything about the break-up ’cause we have enough to deal with right now.

Billy: Yeah.

[ Sniffles ] That’s probably a good idea. Good luck.

Lily: Thanks. You too.

[ Sighs, sniffles ] Jill, hi. Uh, no, I’m fine. What’s going on?

[ Sniffles, exhales heavily ] I’m sorry. I think I-I misunderstood you. He did what?

Victor: Hi, my baby.

Nikki: Mm.

Victor: Hi, my baby.

Nikki: Hello.

Victor: [ Smooching ] You know, it’s uncanny.

Nikki: What is?

Victor: Every time I see you, you look more beautiful.

Nikki: Hmm. Well, I am still amazed that you think you can cover your mood by giving me a compliment, as if i would be so distracted by that I — I won’t see that something is off.

Victor: Is it that obvious? Anyway, um… you know me so well.

Nikki: Yes, I do. So, spill it, handsome.

Victor: I paid a visit to chelsea.

Nikki: Ohh. Well, I hope you didn’t push too hard to find out what this big mystery is.

Victor: No, but, uh… something is afoot. Did victoria say anything about her?

Nikki: No, not since the holidays, when she said that chelsea was in a bad place. But it was odd that she didn’t elaborate.

Victor: Could she be suffering from some illness? I mean, that might explain why both adam and victoria were so attentive to her at the christmas party.

Nikki: Oh, I don’t think so. I mean, after everything we went through with ashland and his lies about having cancer, victoria would have told me that immediately. But something is definitely going on.

Victor: Yeah. And we need to find out what it is.

Nikki: Yes, especially since we know what chelsea is capable of when things aren’t going her way.

Victor: And I’m concerned about johnny. Kids can change minds…

“The young and the restless”

will continue. For people who are a little intense about hydration.

Adam: Oh, this I have to hear. How in the world did my father make you see anything more clearly? I mean, were you guys talking about stocks or corporate takeovers? Manipulating his children? Because outside of those topics, he’s a wasteland.

Chelsea: No, yeah, he said he could tell something’s been going on with me lately. And he’s concerned — not just about connor. It actually seemed like he cared about me, too. I mean, should I have told him the truth?

Adam: While I understand your impulse to do that, I’m not sure how he would react. I mean, of course you’re free to decide, but I don’t think telling him what happened just because he’s needlessly worried about connor…

Chelsea: Well, he spoke a lot about connor and all he’s had to go through because of my struggles.

Adam: Yeah. And mine.

Chelsea: He talked about how important connor is to him and the family, and then he started talking about our history, how he helped me avoid the legal repercussions when I poisoned rey.

Adam: Is he still holding that over your head?

Chelsea: No. Actually, he made me feel differently about it. You know, back then, my therapist was working for victor. But now I have dr. Malone. She’s helping me. She’s working for me, and she’s making me realize if I had just gotten the help I needed back then, maybe I would have been better, I wouldn’t have tried to play the system.

Adam: Well, you had a lot going on, with the aneurysm and the paralysis.

Chelsea: My body healed, but my head didn’T. I’m seeing so much of it differently now, adam. I’m starting to see where all the darkness came from and how dark it got and what led me up to that rooftop that night. I was in so much pain and i honestly thought that everyone would be better off if I wasn’t here. And I didn’t even think about all the pain I would have caused people. I mean, connor is the best thing that ever happened to me, and i just think — [Gasps] I just think — [Sighs] I just think that night I…

[ Breathes deeply, sniffles ]

Adam: Chelsea, what happened that night was one moment, one terrible moment in time. You have been working on getting better, and you’re looking out for connor at every step. You have always made sure that our son is taken care of. I have never, ever worried about that. So, you should not worry about that, either, okay? Little impromptu visits from my father — they always make people question something. I may or may not speak from experience.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ]

Adam: Listen, why don’t we get out of here? Why don’t we get some fresh air? Why don’t we get some change of scenery, go get some food?

Chelsea: Oh, thanks. No. I’m — I, um… I’m still working on my relationship with the outdoors and — and my place in it.

Adam: Okay. I didn’t mean to push. We could — we could just stay here.

Chelsea: I think I’d rather just be alone for a little bit, if you don’t mind.

Adam: Not at all. Not at all. Uh [Clears throat] Well, I — I’ll get out of your hair. But if you need anything or change your mind…

Chelsea: Thank you.

Adam: …I’m just a text away.

Chelsea: Okay. And, honestly, you’ve been great these past few weeks. It really means a lot.

Adam: Mm. “You’re great, but, uh, please leave.”

Chelsea: [ Laughs ] No, i just —

Adam: I’m kidding. I — I got it. I’m going. Take care, okay?

[ Door closes ]

Adam: [ Sighs ]

Abby: Moving out of the chancellor house doesn’t mean I’m moving in with devon. I hadn’t even considered that.

Chance: Why you want to leave then?

Abby: Because it’s your family’s home, not mine. And there’s just too many memories, too much space.

Chance: Look, dominic’s spent most of his life there. Do you really want to turn his world upside down again?

Abby: Yeah, it’ll be difficult for a while, but what hasn’t been?

Chance: That’s exactly my point. So, why don’t we make it as easy as we can for him?

Abby: We could stay, as long as you don’t feel awkward.

Chance: I’m fine with it. So, it’s settled?

Abby: We will stay put for now.

Chance: Okay. Good. Well, if that’s it, I’m gonna go.

Abby: Chance. Look, I understand that I hurt you and I did something terrible. But for you to think that i would just move in with devon before the ink on our divorce papers is even dry, that I could just move on and slide into another relationship so quickly? Is that the kind of person that you think I am?

Chance: Abby, I’m not sure who the hell you are because i don’t know how you feel. I used to know you. I used to know you through and through. At least, I thought I did. But now all I am clear on is the facts, okay? You had sex with devon. I walked in on you half-naked with the guy, remember? Hell, you spent christmas with him, too. And now I’m aware that you have full access to his penthouse because you took me there. So, you want to know what I do know, abby? If that wasn’t a mistake and you’re actually sorry about what happened, you wouldn’t feel the need to spend every waking moment with the guy that ruined our marriage.

Abby: [ Scoffs ]

Devon: Hey.

Lily: You’re dissolving our partnership? You’re taking back control of hamilton-winters?

Devon: So, you’ve spoken to jill.

Lily: Yeah, I spoke to jill. Why wouldn’t you come talk to me first?

Devon: I was coming to talk to you today. I was on my way.

Lily: Yeah, after you gave jill your ultimatum. You’re threatening to go public with your opposition of the ipo if you don’t get your way?

Devon: Can we — can we talk about this calmly?

Lily: Yeah, sure. Let’s have a civilized conversation about how you’re stabbing me in the back. How far are you willing to go to fight your own sister to get what you want? Your heart is the beat of life.

Chance: Sharon. I don’t know where to start, but I just want to apologize for that outburst. I’m sorry that you had to witness that, and I’m very sorry that it happened here.

Sharon: No! No, no apologies necessary. Um, you know, you’ve been bottling up a lot of emotions lately, and it’s not healthy.

Chance: Well, chastising my soon-to-be ex-wife in public — that’s not a good look.

Sharon: But you needed to get that off your chest.

Chance: Abby might disagree.

Sharon: Well, you are absolutely entitled. You’re human. It’s one thing to be the strong, silent type, but to not talk about what you’re going through, what you’re feeling, that — that can potentially slow down your healing process.

Chance: You know what they say about icebergs? How you can see, like, only 10% of the whole thing?

Sharon: Yeah.

Chance: Well, uh, all that — that was the tip of the iceberg. Am I angry? Yeah. Confused? Definitely. But it’s the other 90% that’s really killing me. I just — I have this enormous sense of failure that I just can’t shake.

Nikki: So, what did chelsea say for herself?

Victor: Not much. I asked how she was doing. She said she was doing fine.

Nikki: But you don’t believe her?

Victor: Mnh-mnh. She was about to open up, but we got a visitor.

Nikki: Who?

Victor: Adam.

Nikki: I can only imagine.

Victor: Immediately went on the offensive, accusing me of all kinds of nefarious things.

Nikki: Oh, speak of the devil. Hello, adam.

Victor: Hey, son. Care to join us?

Adam: I’m here with a warning. Stop trying to control my family, okay? Our lives — they belong to us. So back off. We do not and we will never live under your thumb.

Devon: I don’t want to fight with you, okay?

Lily: Right. Yeah. So, you just want to pull the pin out of the grenade and walk away without any consequence, without having a conversation?

Devon: I — we’re having a conversation right now, right?

Lily: Yeah, after you made the decision. That’s not a conversation. I have to — what? I have to just roll over and give up everything that we have worked so hard for?

Devon: I’m not asking you to give up anything, lily. I’m saying you go back to your company, I go back to my company.

Lily: Oh, yeah, devon, like it’s so easy.

Devon: It can be easy. It certainly can be. You ran the company before without me involved, and you did it successfully. You can go back to doing the same thing, and I can go back to running my company exactly the way I want to.

Lily: Devon, we can find a way to give you more autonomy without splitting up.

Devon: How you gonna do that if you take the company public? It’s impossible. And you know the only reason i wanted to join our companies together is so we could work together as a family, a cohesive family unit, and create a legacy to leave behind, right?

Lily: Yes, and we still can.

Devon: I disagree. I’ve made too many mistakes so far because of not listening to my own instincts, and I’m not gonna keep doing that. I’m sorry.

Lily: You know, jill thinks that you’re doing this just because of what happened with abby.

Devon: Let her think that if she wants to. It’s not the case. This is not an emotional decision. It’s been a long time coming. I’ve never truly felt comfortable with this merger. And I apologize to you for not being honest about that sooner and not being honest with myself about it. But I’m coming to you now, as your brother, and I’m asking if you will allow me to take a step back from this partnership. That’s it.

Lily: Really? You want to pull the brother card, asking me for a favor? And the way that you deal with getting burned is by burning me?

Devon: I’m not trying to burn you, lily. I’m trying to do what’s best for you and for me.

Lily: Devon, we were a team. We were working together to honor our father. And just because you couldn’t convince me and jill to cancel the ipo, you try and sabotage it. How are you any different from nate? I’m not a doctor.

Devon: I know you’re angry, and I get why you are, but how are you gonna compare what I’m asking for to what nate tried to do to us?

Lily: How is it different?

Devon: What are you talking about, how’s it different? I haven’t been secretly plotting to try and take your company from you and hand it over to someone who’s not even in the family. All I’ve ever done is try and protect and preserve hamilton-winters and neil’s legacy that goes along with it.

Lily: Oh, I’m sorry. Are you trying to protect our father’s legacy from me?

Devon: No. From shareholders or a takeover or anyone else who doesn’t know him or didn’t know him or didn’t respect him. And I realize I can’t do that without complete autonomy. And I’m also trying to look out for chancellor, whether you think so or not. I don’t think you guys should take that company public, either.

Lily: Do you actually believe what you’re saying? Do you? Because you are hurting me. You are damaging my company, all because you want control. You know what? Forget the comparison to nate. You sound exactly like victor newman and nothing like neil winters.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ]

Sharon: I don’t think you should view the end of your marriage as your fault.

Chance: I can’t be certain of that.

Sharon: But you aren’t the one who cheated.

Chance: You know what I keep asking myself? Was I wrong for taking that assignment in spain? For leaving abby here all alone to handle the surrogacy and pregnancy?

Sharon: You were doing your duty.

Chance: Oh, maybe I made too many mistakes when I got back. I think I got lost in my job a bit. Trying to always be the protector. Maybe I just forgot how to be a man. That’s why she turned to somebody else. All my problems seem to stem from who I am, which is tied to what I do. It’s my job. I think I’ve put it above everything else too many times. Was that the biggest mistake that I made? And yet, without it, who the hell am I?

Devon: Hey.

Abby: Hey.

Devon: You don’t know how happy I am to see your face. Are you okay?

Abby: Are you really happy to see me? Or are you just saying that? ‘Cause I feel like I just run to you every time something is bothering me.

Devon: First of all, I will never not be happy to see your face. And second, I always want you to come to me for any reason, any time.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Chelsea: Billy.

Daniel: And if anyone is giving you the vibes that you’re giving me right now, totally don’t hire them.

Phyllis: What vibes?

Daniel: Yeah, the vibes. No, you are lucky you already have this job. I mean, if this was an interview, it would be over by now. I mean, your lack of focus — it’s exactly what we don’t want.

Phyllis: What are you ta–

Daniel: No, we don’t want. You need to set the tone.

Phyllis: I’m setting the tone. I’m focused. I know what you want.

Daniel: Mm-hmm?

Phyllis: You want passion and loyalty and commitment. I mean, those are the things that I wanted when I was hiring. I know what you mean, okay? I get it. I’m glad you get it.

Daniel: Of course I get it.

Phyllis: Yeah. Too bad your sister doesn’t get it.

Daniel: What do you mean?

Phyllis: Your sister. She didn’t even fight to keep me at Marchetti. I mean, what kind of loyalty did she show to me, her own mother?

Daniel: [Exhales sharply] Look, mom, I am really sorry about whatever happened with you and Summer, but you need to move on. You need to move on to your new job with me. I mean, I am your boss.

[Chuckles]

Phyllis: I know that. Maybe my problem is I shouldn’t be working with my kids. That’s — [ Laughs ] That’s a joke.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, no, it’s not funny.

Phyllis: Oh.

Daniel: No. We’ve got a long road ahead, and I need you focused.

Phyllis: I’m very focused.

Daniel: Good. And, you know, maybe don’t make it so clear that I’m your second choice.

Tucker: Yeah.

Ashley: You had one of your mystical vibes that I was gonna barge in with a bottle of wine?

Tucker: Yeah. You’ve been on my mind, of course, so I think I manifested this.

Ashley: Oh, great. Listen. You know what? Diane has infected my entire family like a virus. It’s unbelievable. All the things that she’s done to Jack, she’s also managed to turn my brother into a sucker. Were you aware that she’s working at a division in Jabot? Did you know that? And not just that, but she’s at my house constantly, so there’s no escaping her. Diane is everywhere, and every day I wake up in a new, fresh Diane hell. There’s Diane again! There’s Diane again!

[Sighs]

Tucker: Yes. I’m sorry.

[Laughs] I… I’m sorry that you’re so upset. But I just have to tell you, for me, this is heavenly

Kyle: Here you go, babe.

Summer: Mm, you really are the best husband.

Kyle: Oh, bringing you coffee’s a pretty low bar, but I’ll take it.

Summer: You know what I mean. Thank you for getting on board with me taking harrison to the textile show in paris. I cannot wait to show him the little boats that kids play with at the tuileries gardens. Oh, and I already know he’s gonna love the crepes.

Kyle: Well, you’re making me jealous I’m gonna miss all of it. You have to send me a ton of pictures.

Summer: Of course we will. We’re not gonna be gone for that long, though I hope it’s long enough for this whole thing with diane and stark to get resolved. I just want him out of our lives for good without any more drama or danger.

Kyle: I know. I know. I wish I’d never even heard that guy’s name.

Jeremy: Thank you.

It’s been lovely being back in genoa city playing mother and grandmother, but I am a woman with wants and needs.

Jeremy: Hmm. Yes, you are. Please sit down and catch me up on this plan of yours. I am dying to know all the details.

[ Doorbell rings ]

[ Mug thuds ]

Devon: Hey.

Abby: Hi. Sorry. I probably should have texted you before just stopping by, but I just dropped off dominic and louise at a play date, and i thought maybe we could go grab a coffee.

Devon: Mm.

Abby: Or I could just leave. I can tell that you’re not in the mood. What’s wrong? Can I help?

Phyllis: Hey. Um, I’m glad I ran into you.

Tucker: Yeah? Why’s that?

Phyllis: Did you mean what you said…when you said you wanted to burn it all down?

Tucker: Deadly serious. But you blew me off when I asked the question, so deal’s off the table.

Phyllis: No. I just… I’m sorry. I cut you off too soon. I want to continue this conversation.

Tucker: Having second thoughts?

Ashley: And we’re getting ready to ship the gift boxes to the stores in time for valentine’s day.

Jack: Everything going smoothly?

Ashley: Pretty much. We have a new head of distribution. I’m just gonna keep my eye on him.

Jack: Is that really necessary?

Ashley: I don’t know. But I’m not in the mood for any surprises, so I’ll just keep a tight rein.

Jack: Well, I respect your judgment.

Ashley: Good.

Jack: You were home late last night.

Ashley: I wasn’t aware I had a curfew.

Jack: I was only saying, i was in the living room reading a book when you blew by, and you seemed pretty upset. If this is about our latest dust-up over diane, I thought maybe we —

Ashley: No. Stop right there. Not diane. Tucker.

Jack: What’s he done now?

Ashley: Um, I found out that chancellor-winters’ ipo adviser audra charles was actually feeding tucker information, presumably to take over the company.

Jack: And how did you learn about that?

Ashley: Well, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time, jack. I saw devon basically cut tucker out of his life. And I found some evidence. It looks like tucker came to genoa city to go after jabot. So, all the claims he made about wanting devon and me back in his life were just lies… like we thought. To you, it may just be an elevator.

Phyllis: I realize I should have been more generous with my time. I mean, not necessarily to join you in some scheme you have to burn it all down. You need a reality check. You come in here. You’re throwing your money around. Your private jets. People are onto you. People here are smart.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ]

Phyllis: You’re never gonna be one of us.

Tucker: Really?

[ Clears throat ] But you’ve been here for decades, haven’t you? And from what I’ve observed, you’re still an outsider.

Phyllis: I have family here.

Tucker: Yeah. So do I. Devon, dominic. Big reason why I came back.

Phyllis: You’re not here fighting for your family. Uh, there’s also something else you should know about me. When it comes to my family, I fix what’s broken.

Tucker: From what I hear, everyone’s angry at you for taking your vendetta with diane too far.

Phyllis: Oh, who cares? I ran into a difficult patch. I’ll fix it. I always do. You’re running into your first headwind, and you’re unraveling. So, if you really care about your family, go fix it with them. Or get in your private jet and leave. Or stay…and burn all down. That’s your option.

Ashley: And you are colorblind.

Jack: [ Sighs ]

[ Sighs heavily ]

[ Door closes ]

Jack: So, have you decided exactly what you’re going to procure as your act of loyalty?

Diane: You’ll know soon enough. You can’t rush these things.

Jeremy: That sounds like a stall tactic. I’m thinking that perhaps you need a deadline to prove that you’re up to the task and able to work under pressure.

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

Jack: I can’t risk getting back in business with you if you’re not able to act swiftly and decisively.

Diane: Sounds like you’re giving me an order.

Jeremy: How astute. I am.

Diane: Jeremy, if this partnership is going to work, it needs to be a little different than last time. I can’t be left in the dark like I was for so long. This needs to be a game of equals.

Jeremy: [ Chuckles ] That is a bold request.

Diane: [ Chuckles ] Well, I’m a lot bolder than i was when we first met. And you’re in my town now, so I’m the one calling the shots. Besides, if I want to take my time to get this proof, prolong the fun, then I don’t see why you’re opposed to that. Isn’t that where the thrill lies — in the anticipation of the score?

Jeremy: You are really coming into your own. But I’m not budging. You have until tomorrow. The abcs of ckd

Kyle: I don’t like the idea that you’re fleeing with harrison to get away from my mother and whatever threat stark poses. I wish he’d never come back into her life, but the fact is, he is here and he needs to be dealt with.

Summer: Come here.

Kyle: [ Sighs ]

Summer: I love you so much, and I know that you would much rather be in paris with us. But I promise you, we are gonna video-chat you every day.

Kyle: Thank you for trying to reassure me, but part of what’s so upsetting is that you think I’m putting my mother first. I love her, and I need to help her through this latest threat, but you and harrison are my world. You know that, right?

Summer: I do. And we’re gonna get through this, just like we’ve gotten through everything else.

[ Knock on door ]

Kyle: Mm. Hold that thought.

Phyllis: I’d like to speak with summer.

Tucker: Hey.

Jack: What the hell are you doing here?

Tucker: I’m looking for ashley.

Jack: Ashley wants nothing to do with you.

Tucker: She tell you that?

Jack: In so many words. She also told me you came to town targeting jabot, conspiring with chancellor-winters’ ipo consultant to make a move on them, as well. On top of that, you’re blackmailing diane, deceiving and manipulating ashley. You’ve been a busy fellow. I’m amazed you have the nerve to show your face around here.

Abby: Thank you.

Devon: You’re very welcome.

Abby: Okay, what has you so riled up?

Devon: Um…tucker. Tucker does. I — I had someone to look into whether or not there was a connection between him and this woman that we hired to help us with the ipo named audra.

Abby: Mm-hmm.

Devon: And of course there was, dating back years. And after I confronted her and fired her, I went to tucker’s hotel suite, which you should know your mom was at.

Abby: Well, this is about you right now. Um, what happened?

Devon: I just — I went off on him and I told him what i know. But the frustrating thing is that the truth has been in front of my face this entire time if i would have just looked hard enough because we were all suspicious when tucker showed up to town. I asked him straight out if he has any interest in chancellor-winter, and he swore to me he didn’T. He said he was here to reconnect with me and to meet dominic. And I bought that. And I let him get close to our son, which I want to apologize to you for because you’ve never not been wrong about him.

Abby: No, I bought in, too, at least to the idea of dominic knowing his grandfather.

Devon: The grandfather that dominic deserves is not here anymore — ’cause neil was somebody that you could trust and you could admire. Tucker is just a sack of lies, pretending to care about his family so he can get what he wants in business. It’s — it’s sick. I look around, and I feel like my family is disappearing.

Abby: No. No.

[ Mug thuds ] Don’t say that.

Devon: Well…

Abby: You have a son, a little boy who’s on a play date right now who thinks you hung the moon. You have family that is never gonna disappear.

Nate: This candidate is bold, outside-the-box thinker who has an aggressive approach to growth and innovation.

Victoria: Well, that sounds like the perfect fit for us.

Nate: Yeah, I think so. She’s definitely the kind of visionary I’d like to have by my side here at newman media.

Victoria: Who is this woman? She sounds too good to be true.

Nate: Well, she’s new to genoa city, but she’s worked internationally and consulted for large corporations and conglomerates similar to newman.

Victoria: Huh. And her name is? You want to hire audra charles?

Victoria: I thought that audra was working with chancellor-winters on their ipo. What happened with that?

Nate: Uh, from my understanding, the ipo is on course, but audra’s work is done and she’s ready for a new challenge. She was actually ready to leave town, but I convinced her to stick around and come talk to me about the opportunity here.

Victoria: Well, I have to admit I do find the idea intriguing.

Nate: I thought it was at least worth exploring.

Victoria: Yeah. Well, I would like to meet with her, as well, if that’s alright with you. We crossed paths before, but i didn’t really get a good sense of her.

Nate: Okay. Well, let’s change that. If your next block of time is free, she’ll be here shortly.

Abby: I understand how upsetting it must be to have found out about tucker and this audra woman.

Devon: Oh, yeah. And I’ll tell you, she — she didn’t leave without getting in one last dig, too. She pointed out how, as a ceo, i was mistaken about her and nate

and tucker. And I didn’t like hearing that. That didn’t make me feel good at all. It kept me up all night thinking about how I could have misjudged so many things and how I missed so many signs and just how I let everything get as bad as it’s gotten.

Abby: Stop. Don’t blame yourself, okay? Audra is the one who’s wrong. You did question her. And you’ve been suspicious of tucker since he came to town. And nate — I mean, you knew he was spinning out and that he was unreliable. You told me all of these things.

Devon: I know.

Abby: You were right.

Devon: I know I did, but think about how long it took me to figure all this stuff out. Ultimately, I still went against my instincts, and I still let myself get swayed by other people and their agendas. That’s the real mistake. And that’s gonna stop right now.

Abby: What are you gonna do?

Devon: I will show you. Jill, this is devon. I’d like for you to give me a call back as soon as possible because I need to meet with you today. Thanks.

Phyllis: Hey, kyle, can i have a minute alone with summer?

Kyle: Normally I would say yes, but I think I should stick around, just in case.

Phyllis: In case of what?

Summer: It’s okay. Maybe you could get started packing for harrison?

Kyle: You sure?

Summer: Yeah.

[ Sighs ] What’s so important, mom?

Phyllis: Where’s harrison going that he needs luggage?

Summer: I’m taking him with me to a textile show in paris. I thought we could make a little vacation out of it.

Phyllis: Ah. You’re trying to get away from diane, aren’t you?

Summer: [ Sighs ] I wouldn’t mind putting some distance between us and the danger she’s facing, so…

Phyllis: Is kyle going with you?

Summer: He feels like he needs to stay here.

Phyllis: Hmm. Is there something going on between you and kyle?

Summer: No. Kyle and I are fine. What — what — what was it that you needed to talk to me about so urgently, mom?

Phyllis: Hey, you know what? I have a great idea. Let me go to paris with you.

Summer: You and I have been barely speaking, and now you want to crash our mother/son trip?

Phyllis: Crash? Listen, uh…I want to fix whatever’s going on between us. That’s all I want to do.

Summer: [ Scoffs ] You said that I broke your heart by not telling you the truth about diane. What’s changed?

Tucker: Okay, I’m just gonna tell you exactly what I told ashley. My interest in going after jabot — and chancellor-winters, for that matter — is old news. It was the plan that brought me to town, yes. So, you gonna judge a fellow business mogul for his ambitions?

Jack: I judge you for plotting a hostile takeover, yeah.

Tucker: Yeah, well, that all went away as soon as I started spending time with ashley. And even then, my only interest in jabot was helping her get the control that she deserves at this place.

Jack: Oh, you don’t have to concern yourself with ashley’s position in this company. She has total autonomy.

Tucker: Over the piece of the pie that you sliced for her. You undervalue her, jack. Which is why I realized what she actually needs, what she deserves is freedom, her own place to shine. So I offered her a path towards independence — her own company. Mm-hmm. She tell you that? That’s me before dawn powerwash.

“The young and the restless”

will continue. We’re here today to set the record

Jack: Hard to imagine ashley working alongside you after what she’s just learned. If you think that’s still a possibility, you’re deluded.

Tucker: Regardless of what ultimately happens, I know for certain she needs to get away from this place and you. It’S…

[ Scoffs ] In fact, she should have never come back from paris. She deserves so much more than being relegated to your shadow and being sidelined at a lab.

Jack: You don’t even have a right to an opinion about what is best for ashley. After all the pain you’ve put her through? I want you gone. If ashley wants to talk to you, well, she’ll let you know. In the meantime, you’re not welcome here.

Phyllis: I hate that you’re caught between kyle and diane.

Summer: Really?

Phyllis: Yeah. Really. It must be very difficult for you.

Summer: Uh…I’m not buying this.

Phyllis: You’re not buying what?

Summer: Oh, you talked to daniel, didn’t you? Oh, my god. I told him specifically not to say anything to you about our conversation.

Phyllis: Wait, what are you talking about? I don’t know what you mean.

Summer: Yes, you do. Mom, I know how stubborn you are. You wouldn’t have marched over here to confront me if nothing had changed.

Phyllis: Summer, I had a realization.

Summer: Because of what daniel told you, right? Oh, you don’t want to admit it? Fine. You know what? I’ll — I’ll call him. Let’s see what he has to say.

Phyllis: Oh, don’t call daniel. Don’t call daniel.

Nate: Audra.

Audra: Hello.

Nate: Come in. Ah. Allow me.

Audra: Thank you. Oh! Uh, I didn’t realize I was gonna be meeting with the ceo of all of newman, as well. I might have prepared a little differently.

Victoria: No, no, not at all. This is nate’s meeting. I just thought I’d sit in.

Audra: Well, I appreciate you taking the time.

Victoria: I’m actually surprised that you left chancellor-winters. I would think that you would have wanted to see the ipo through to the end.

Audra: Unfortunately, I can’t discuss any private business regarding my consulting clients. But I will say that I always see things through and would never leave an assignment prematurely.

Victoria: Well, that is very good to know. And of course, nate has spoken very highly of you, and we’re just pleased that we’re able to speak with you.

Audra: The pleasure is mine. Um, I am excited to pick your brains regarding newman media’s place in the market.

Nate: I know you haven’t had a lot of time to research the company since I just found out about your availability. So, no pressure on that front.

Audra: I did some reading. I mean, most of the night, if I’m being honest. When I dive into something, I go headfirst, all-in. So, shall we get started? I have some questions and thoughts.

Jill: I can’t believe we’re having this call again.

Devon: Oh, neither can I, jill. I assume you’ve heard about audra?

Jill: Yes. Lily told me last night.

Devon: Before we get into why and how that happened —

Jill: I’m not blaming you. This is on me. I brought that woman on board, and, believe me, I am furious at myself because the last thing we need is to be utterly humiliated in the public eye because we were conned by her. And, of course, we have to put the ipo on hold one more time so we can thoroughly check out her prep to make sure that we were not sabotaged by her. Should we have lily in on this call?

Devon: No, we don’t need to get lily on the call because i actually didn’t call to talk about the ipo.

Jill: Really? What could be more important?

Devon: I wanted to discuss our partnership in general.

Jill: Alright.

Devon: I’ve come to realize, jill, that merging chancellor and hamilton-winters has been a mistake. And I think that the idea of this epic legacy for myself and for lily and for nate has, you know, in all honesty, been a disaster.

Jill: What are you saying?

Devon: I’m saying that I want to buy back hamilton-winters. I’m jonathan lawson

Diane: Do you have a minute?

Jack: Sure. What’s up?

Diane: [ Sighs ] I saw jeremy at society this morning, and I think I’ve convinced him that I’m sincere about getting physical proof of my loyalty without giving any details.

Jack: Good.

Devon: Yes, but now the clock is ticking on the next phase of our agenda — to draw him into an illegal activity and get him arrested.

Jack: I know we all want to move this along as quickly as possible, but we have to proceed cautiously, make sure that it’s all well thought out.

Diane: It is thought out. We’re stealing something from nikki.

Jack: We don’t want to be sloppy or rush into something that could backfire.

Diane: Alright, alright, that’s good in theory, but we don’t have time. Jeremy gave me a deadline — tomorrow.

Abby: Okay, great. We’ll see you then. Bye.

Ashley: Hi!

Abby: Mom, hi! Are you here for breakfast?

Ashley: No. Actually, I want to talk to you.

Abby: Okay. Um, I think I know what this is about.

[ Chuckles ] Devon told me what happened.

Ashley: Oh.

Abby: Yeah, he said when he walked in, he saw you and tucker together?

Ashley: Yeah. I feel stupid. I think I thought because I knew he was trying to manipulate me that I — I couldn’t be manipulated.

Abby: But he still got to you?

Ashley: A little bit. He did. He got to me. Yeah. He’s good. He, uh, offered to finance my own cosmetics company that i would run.

Abby: Wait, were you actually thinking of leaving jabot?

Ashley: I don’t know. I mean, it’s a nice thought, getting away from this whole diana and jack situation. And tucker made it very appealing, but, eh…

Abby: Well, trust me — no one knows what it’s like to want to venture out on your own more than me.

Ashley: Right. I think my brain kept telling me that I shouldn’t trust tucker, but my heart just couldn’t help giving him the benefit of the doubt, you know, just a little bit.

[ Voice breaking ] A little bit.

Jill: I understand you’re not a fan of the ipo, but this is a very extreme reaction.

Devon: I disagree, jill. I think it’s actually a very logical solution to the issues we’ve been having. And I also think that there’s some truth to some of the stuff that nate said to me.

Jill: About what?

Devon: Just about how protective I am over what neil and I created and about how i don’t want anybody on the outside to influence his legacy. I certainly don’t want to lose more control. So I want hamilton-winters back. And you know that I have the money to get it.

Jill: Oh, I don’t doubt that, but I’m telling you, this is a huge mistake. What does lily have to say about it?

Devon: I haven’t said anything to lily yet because i wanted to give you the respect to tell you first. But I will say that if you or lily prevent me from getting the company back, I will not have a problem with being public about my lack of support for this ipo.

Audra: My main focus would be on growth, but with a clearly defined mission.

Nate: We’re on board with that.

Audra: Great. So, I guess my last question would be, do you think you have a strong grasp on what newman media’s long-term strategy is? Or is that something I can help define?

Nate: Another good question.

[ Chuckles ]

Audra: I hope I didn’t bombard you with too many.

Nate: Uh, no, no, not at all. From the discussions victoria and I had, I think you have similar thoughts to ours. You already seem to have a pretty good understanding of what newman media’s strong points are, as well as where we can grow and improve. As far as specifics go, I think we would come up with those together.

Victoria: I agree. I really like what you’ve brought to the table so far. And I enjoy being challenged by a fresh perspective. And I think that some of your thoughts on international media are incredible.

Audra: Those are just my preliminary thoughts. I would have a lot more ideas if I had the chance to really dig in.

Nate: Well, you have given us a lot to think about. Thank you for coming in, audra.

Audra: Yeah. Look, I know we’re all busy, so I’ll be clear. I like the company, and I like your leadership style. I’m pretty instinctive, and i know what I want, so I’ll just say it. I’d be ready to give this a shot if you’ll have me.

Jack: Stark wants you to steal something by tomorrow? That’s impossible.

Diane: Well, we have to make it possible. And to impress jeremy, whatever I take from nikki has to be of great value and hard to get. Now, I’ve been thinking about the ranch, and I’m sure that security is tight. So, what do you think? Maybe I should ask michael for help since he works for —

Jack: No, no, definitely not. That’s too risky.

Diane: [ Sighs ] You’re probably right. But it’s not like I’m an experienced thief.

Jack: I know.

Diane: [ Sighs ] I mean, should we involve nikki and — and get her help? Not that she would ever want to help me because she hates me.

Jack: I don’t think you have any chance of getting onto the ranch, so you don’t have to worry about that. And nikki can’t be involved.

Diane: So, where does that leave us?

Jack: I think I have another idea.

Without the right start

to your day…

Phyllis: Um, alright, listen.

[ Sighs ] Daniel may have told me a couple things that you relayed to him.

Summer: Hmm.

Phyllis: He’s upset. It’s killing him, this rift between us.

Summer: [ Scoffs ] “Rift”? Mom, that’s putting it really nicely. You’ve been blaming me for not taking your side in an untenable situation.

Phyllis: I know. I know I have. I mean, daniel got me to see that I was putting you in a horrible position, making you choose between your husband and your mother. I should never do that.

[ Chuckles ] Ever, ever. I mean, I let my animosity for diane get the best of me. I am so sorry. Summer, I am so sorry. I just didn’t realize I was doing that to you. Hey, baby, you mean the world to me. I never want to put you in a bad position. So, hey, come on. Let’s go to paris. Let’s go to paris now with harrison. How much fun, right? Or — I don’t know — you could stay. You could stay, and we could fix this.

Summer: Mom, don’t give me that look.

Phyllis: What look? What look? The look that a mother gives a daughter when, you know, she wants her to do something?

Summer: [ Scoffs ] Look, I… I’ll discuss it with kyle, but there are reasons that I want harrison out of town. So, if the situation doesn’t change, then we will be going.

Abby: Our stupid hearts, making life more complicated.

Ashley: Yeah, I’ll say. Like he said, I was with tucker in his suite, you know? Yeah. And while I was there, um, i happened to find some of jabot’s financial data stashed in his desk.

Abby: That bastard. What did he have to say for himself?

Ashley: Just more lies and more excuses, as usual.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Ashley: So, honey, needless to say, I could use a little distance, you know, from diane and tucker and even jack. He and I have been fighting so much, it’s ridiculous. I have to try to salvage that relationship somehow.

Abby: What are you saying?

Ashley: I know you’re going through a tough time, but I want you to know that I’m always here for you, 24/7. I just think it’s best if i leave genoa city, just for a while.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Jill: How dare you threaten me like this? You know if you publicly say that you don’t support the ipo, it’s gonna make chancellor look incredibly weak.

Devon: And I don’t want it to come to that, jill, but I also don’t want to keep going to work feeling the way I do, okay? That’s how important it is to get my company back.

Jill: This is all so out of the blue.

Devon: Is it really, though? ‘Cause I don’t think that anything has gone to plan for our companies since, I mean, starting at the launch party. And I don’t see things getting better. And if you and lily — if you guys want to take chancellor public, that should be your call. I shouldn’t be the one to hold you back from doing that. So, I would love if we can just end things peacefully and quickly and if you could understand where I’m coming from.

Jill: Look, I am aware that you have been having some personal conflicts lately. And I know it’s not my place to discuss them or to offer opinions, but please, please take some time and let’s revisit this.

Devon: I don’t think that time is gonna fix anything, jill. I assumed that you and lily would reconsider this ipo, especially after what just happened with audra. But you guys haven’T. So I don’t really have another choice.

Jill: I’m very sorry this is your decision. I have to discuss it with lily. But I still hope there’s a chance you’ll change your mind.

Devon: Not this time. I know what I’m doing is right, and my decision is final.

Victoria: I admire your moxie, and I’ve enjoyed our talk, but it appears that you think that you’re the one interviewing us rather than the other way around.

Audra: What can I say? I am who I am. There’s no use in hiding it because you’d find out soon enough. So, we might as well decide now if you think I’m a fit.

Victoria: Fair enough.

Audra: I’m not interested in working somewhere that doesn’t want to hear my ideas or give me the necessary support to implement them. That said, I’m very much a team player. And I think the best ideas come from open dialogue between leadership and staff.

Victoria: You took a risk. And it worked. I like your style. I have another meeting that i need to get to, so I will leave the decision up to you.

Nate: [ Clears throat ]

[ Footsteps departing ]

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ] That could have gone the other way.

Audra: Yeah. Go big or go home. Are we doing this or what?

Nate: We’re doing this.

Jack: Victor and nikki have a pied–terre in chicago. I used to go there with nikki. I know the alarm entry code, if they haven’t changed that. I also know the secret compartment where nikki keeps her prized jewelry.

Diane: [ Sighs ]

Jack: Look, I don’t know what’s there right now, but she usually keeps a few things there for when they’re in town.

Diane: Okay. Wow. That sounds like a plan. And worst-case scenario, if the building security stops me, I’ll just talk my way out of it.

Jack: No, I’m not sure about that. The security team there has been there for a very long time. They know everybody that goes in and out. That’s why maybe I should go there.

Diane: No. No. That’s not an option. I’m not going to allow you to implicate yourself like that.

Jack: Well, given stark’s deadline, we don’t really have a choice. I have a better chance of getting into the apartment than you. I know the building. The staff there knows me from years ago. I’ll get in. I’ll get out. I’ll bring a piece of nikki’s dazzling jewelry back, hand it to you, you give it to stark as if you stole it, and he’ll have what he wants — proof that you will go to great lengths to be back in with him. The deadline is looming.

Young & The Restless Update

Y&R logo

Update written by Barbara

At the Abbott House, Kyle and Summer affirm their love and Summer adheres to the necessity of taking Harrison with her to Paris for the textile show.

Phyllis goes to Crimson Lights, runs into Tucker there and asks him if he meant what he told her about “burning it all down.” Tucker says that he was “deadly serious” about it, but since Phyllis blew him off when he mentioned it to her, “the deal is off the table”.

She proceeds to tell Tucker that he needs a reality check, mentioning how he came to Genoa City, throwing money around, including the use of private jets, but people are onto him. She mentions that the people in Genoa City are smart and he will never be one of them.

Phyllis presents three options to Tucker – fix things that are broken with his family, leave Genoa City, or “burn it all down” like he mentioned – and she says that the choice is up to him.

Later on, Phyllis stops by the Abbott house and asks to speak with Summer in private. Kyle is resistant at first, then agrees to go upstairs and pack Harrison’s things for the Paris trip.

Phyllis tells Summer that she wants to make amends.  In the course of their conversation, Phyllis realizes that Daniel had spoken with Summer about the tension between the two women and suggested that Phyllis reach out to Summer.

As the conversation continues, Phyllis brings up the idea of going to Paris with Summer and Harrison. However, Summer tells her that in light of what’s been transpiring in Genoa City, she just needs to get out of Genoa City for awhile with Harrison.

Diane bumps into Jeremy at Society and comes onto him very strongly. Jeremy is pleased, but reminds her of the loyalty test and gives her a deadline of committing a crime by tomorrow.

At Jabot, Ashley fills Jack in on how Tucker had a master plan to go after Chancellor-Winters and Jabot. She tells him that she found paperwork for a cosmetics company in her name and Jabot’s financial information in his desk at his suite.

Later, when Tucker shows up at Jabot looking for Ashley, he and Jack get into a heated argument about her. Tucker tells Jack he was just trying to help Ashley have the control and independence she deserves. More specifically, Tucker mentions that he would fund Ashley’s cosmetics company. Jack isn’t have any of it and throws Tucker out of the office.

Abby stops by Devon’s penthouse, where he tells her all about how Audra was a plant for Chancellor-Winters. Devon makes mention of how Audra was obtaining secret information to pass along to Tucker. He also say that Tucker was going to take over Chancellor-Winters.

After Abby leaves and Dominic and the nanny are out where he’s having a play date, Devon contacts Jill on a video call.  Having heard from Lily what transpired, Jill says that she is furoius with herself for bringing Audra on board with Chancellor-Winters. She also mentions how bad this will look in the public eye because they were conned by her. She also that they have to put the IPO on hold again, to thoroughly check out Audra’s prep for the IPO to be sure they weren’t sabotaged by her.

In no uncertain terms, Devon lets Jill know that the merger between Chancellor and Hamilton-Winters was a mistake and has been a disaster.  She asks him what he is getting at and he tells her that he wants to buy Hamilton-Winters back. Jill says that he’s having an extreme reaction to the current situation and would be making a huge mistake.

Devon counters that he thinks it’s a very logical solution to the issues they’ve been having.  He adds that there’s actually truth to some of the things Nate said to him, such as Devon being protective of what he and Neil created, and how Devon doesn’t want outsiders to influence his legacy. Jill urges him to change Devon to change his mind, but he is unwavering in his decision. It’s final.

At Newman Media, Nate and Victoria are discussing Audra’s impending interview for the COO position with the company. Nate asks Victoria to sit in on their meeting, but she is hesitant since Nate is in charge of that division of Newman Enterprises. Eventually, she agrees to sit in.

Both Nate and Victoria are very impressed with Audra and the kinds of hard hitting questions she is asking them about the company. Victoria smiles as she notes that with the boldness of Audra’s approach, it seems as though Audra is interviewing them rather than the other way around. After the interview is finished, Victoria tells Nate the hiring decision is up to him and leaves. Nate then hires Audra and they shake on her coming aboard as COO of Newman Media.

Over at Society, Ashley meets up with Abby. Ashley opens up and lets Abby know all about Tucker’s betrayal and how much his manipulation got to her.  She says she was stupid to have been taken in by Tucker, also mentioning that her brain kept telling her not to trust him, but her heart just couldn’t help giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Ashley says that in light of what has happened with her and Tucker, it’s best if she leaves Genoa City for awhile. She also mentions that she understands how Abby is going through some major upheaval in her life, but is firm in needing to get out of town. Abby is taken off guard by what Ashley has told her, and looks like she does not want her mother to leave.

In light of Jeremy’s looming deadline for Diane’s loyalty test, she finds Jack and lets him know about it.  Jack tells her that he has an idea that’s best suited to the situation. He mentions how he knows that Victor and Nikki have a pied-à-terre in Chicago since he used to go there with Nikki.  He also tells her that he knows the alarm entry code if it hasn’t changed and that he’s aware of the secret compartment where Nikki keeps her prize jewelry. He adds that since he knows the building and the staff there are familiar with him from years ago, it makes sense for him to be the one to steal something from Nikki’s jewelry there.

Diane is aghast, but Jack points out how the deadline for Jeremy’s loyalty test is very soon. Jack tells her that after he steals something of especially high vale from mething from Nikki’s secret compartment, he will give it to Diane to bring to Jeremy and let him believe that she had stolen it. Jack says that by doing things this way, Jeremy will have what he wants in regard to Diane going to great lengths to get together with him.

Devon: No, I appreciate you digging into this so quickly. Were you able to find out if there was a connection between audra and tucker? Okay. Hang on a second. What was the name of that llc you just said? That’s what I thought. No, that’s okay. Um, can you — can you send me this report by tonight? That’s great. Alright. Thank you very much.

[ Knock on door ]

Tucker: Alright, alright!

[ Clears throat ]

Audra: Uh, sorry. It’s just me. Hope you’re not too disappointed.

Tucker: I wasn’t expecting you at this hour.

Audra: Well, you’ve been ignoring my texts, so I had to come talk to you in person. What the hell is up with that? You know, if I did that to you, you’d be furious.

Tucker: Well, first of all, I’m in charge here of our little operation, so I can do whatever I please. And secondly, you know I have other priorities besides our business together, so I think you can take it down a notch.

Audra: Don’t try and handle me. But I think you’re gonna feel differently when you hear what I’ve been trying to tell you. Thanks in no small part to me, lily realized that she and jill could no longer be slowed down by devon. Chancellor-winters’ ipo is imminent. So, if you plan to make a move, we need to strategize.

Tucker: Okay. Thank you for the information. I’ll think about it, and I’ll be in touch.

Audra: [ Chuckling ] What? That’s it? You’re just gonna blow me off after all the work I’ve put into this? I mean, what’s happening here? Are you getting cold feet?

Tucker: Like I said, I will be in touch with you when I know how to proceed. So, if you’ll excuse me…

Audra: Why are you hustling me off? Are you expecting someone?

Tucker: Like I said, I am going to contemplate what you told me. That requires privacy. So, unless you’d like to wait in the bathroom again…

Audra: Fine. Hopefully by the time you get back to me, you’ll be in a better mood.

Tucker: Bye.

[ Door closes ]

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Audra: [ Sighs ]

Daniel: So, our number-one priority at omega sphere needs to be assembling a great tech team. I don’t want just good coders. You know, I want passion. I want people who are inspired by our mission. So, you know, don’t just be looking over résuméS. I want you to be meeting with these people face-to-face, really getting to know them, you know? And I want to — I want to build a loyal and committed team from the ground up.

Phyllis: Totally.

Daniel: ‘Cause you know, our division is only gonna be as good as the people that are in it.

Phyllis: Totally.

Daniel: [ Exhales sharply ] Look, mom, I am really sorry about whatever happened with you and summer, but you need to move on. You need to move on to your new job with me. I mean, I am your boss.

[ Chuckles ]

Phyllis: I know that. Maybe my problem is I shouldn’t be working with my kids. That’s — [ Laughs ] That’s a joke.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, no, it’s not funny.

Phyllis: Oh.

Daniel: No. We’ve got a long road ahead, and I need you focused.

Phyllis: I’m very focused.

Daniel: Good. And, you know, maybe don’t make it so clear that I’m your second choice.

Diane: [ Sighs ] I’m having second thoughts about stealing from nikki.

Jack: Why? I thought we agreed. She is the perfect victim. No, she’s a known enemy, no one that stark would think we would be colluding with. You pull this off, you will convince him you are ready to do business with him again.

Diane: Yeah, but nikki is nikki. She’s formidable. And I — I don’t want to run the risk of re-igniting her anger towards me when she has finally backed off.

Jack: Okay. I am not thrilled with any of the risk involved in this whole thing, but given our options and, you know, and we’re talking about grand larceny, nikki is a suitable target. Look, she — I will explain things to her later. I will try to smooth things over.

Ashley: Oh, just what I love to see when I walk in the room, the two of you conspiring together. I don’t even want to know what the details are, but if you think you’re gonna smooth something over with me, you’re dead wrong.

Jack: Diane and I were just discussing her safety now that you and your co-conspirators have put her in jeopardy.

Ashley: Okay, just save it, please. I don’t want to have this conversation again. Why is she here? Why? All the time.

Jack: You are being extremely rude right now. You were right about one thing. This is our house. Diane is my guest. She came here to hear my concerns about her safety, which you put at risk.

Ashley: Oh, god.

Diane: I don’t want to create problems between the two of you.

Ashley: [ Laughs ] Sure you don’T.

[ Door opens ]

Diane: [ Sighs ]

[ Door closes ]

Phyllis: You’re right. You’re right, okay? Listen, I didn’t mean to get into the summer thing. I apologize. I am so excited to work with you. I am so excited to be part of this new venture of yours. So, let’s go, alright?

Daniel: I hope you mean that.

Phyllis: I do. I do mean it. Really. I am — I’m so excited to be in charge of the tech team at omega sphere.

Daniel: Good. No. Good, good. Great.

Phyllis: Okay.

Daniel: Well, let’s — let’s go get that talent then.

Phyllis: Alright. Good.

Daniel: Did you get any good candidates from the résumés i sent over, uh, anyone in there that you’re just dying to meet?

Phyllis: Mnh. I — I’ll — I’ll look at the résumés, okay? Sorry. I’m — daniel, please believe in me. I’m gonna put together the best tech team ever. Really. I promise you. And I’m not gonna let you down the way that summer let me down.

Daniel: Oh, my god. Ugh.

[ Laughs ] See? You were on point there for a minute, and now you’re just gone again.

Phyllis: Okay. I’m sorry. I’m just tired. That’s all. I’m just so tired. And this is nothing that a good night’s sleep won’t fix, okay? So, can we just circle back in the morning?

Daniel: Yeah. Yes. That’s fine. But, you know, is this — is this really — is this really — you know, are you exhausted? Are you tired? But —

Phyllis: Yeah.

Daniel: Or is it summer?

Phyllis: I think my feelings are just hurt because… she chose diane over me. That’s all.

Devon: Hey.

Lily: Hey.

Devon: Thank you for meeting me in person.

Lily: Yeah, no, it’s fine. I was actually already here. I didn’t really want to go home.

Devon: Why not? Is billy not there?

Lily: Well, I mean, it doesn’t really matter. Even when he is there, I feel alone.

Devon: What makes you say that? What’s going on with you guys?

Lily: Um, I don’t really want to talk about it. Um, what’s going on? Why did you want to meet here in person?

Devon: Well, I will tell you.

Audra: Hi.

Devon: Hello.

Lily: Hi. Um, is this about the ipo? ‘Cause I told you it’s happening.

Devon: It is. It’s absolutely about the ipo and how risky it is, given some new information that’s come to light.

Audra: I’ve done all the due diligence. Everything’s in order. I-I saw to every detail. So we’re in the clear from any threat from nate.

Devon: Well, guess what. I’m not worried about nate anymore. I’m worried about a completely different threat.

Lily: What are you talking about?

Devon: We have a new traitor at the company.

[ Pounding on door ]

Tucker: [ Sighs ] Popular guy.

[ Sniffs ] Ahh. Now, this is a welcome surprise.

Ashley: I am so sorry to show up unannounced.

Tucker: Well, come in.

Ashley: But, honestly, I felt like I had no place else to go. I mean, really. I mean, diane is always at my house, morning, noon, and night.

Tucker: Well, you’ve come to the right place. I had a feeling I should keep my schedule open tonight.

Ashley: Oh, yeah?

[ Sighs ]

Tucker: Yes. I’m sorry.

[ Laughs ] I… I’m sorry that you’re so upset. But I just have to tell you, for me, this is heavenly.

One role of a lifetime…

one sore throat.

Diane: I feel terrible about this rift I’ve caused between you and ashley.

Jack: No, no.

Diane: It’s totally my fault.

Jack: I’m not gonna have you blaming yourself. Ashley is being unreasonable, and I’m not gonna stand for it.

Diane: Well, thank you for defending me.

Jack: I am just stating the facts. However, she did manage to interrupt our conversation.

Diane: Yeah.

Jack: And maybe it is better we drop the subject of stark for the time being. I don’t want anybody walking in and overhearing us. And, besides, it’s getting kind of late.

Diane: Yeah, that’s probably for the best, and, um, I should be going. But before I do, um, there’s something else I’d like to discuss if you have a minute.

Jack: Sure. What’s on your mind?

Diane: I think we should talk about the desire I have to kiss you again.

Lily: Sorry. Who do you think is a traitor?

Devon: Well, earlier today i was tipped off that our lovely audra here has been in direct contact with tucker, in the past and recently.

Lily: Wait. How do you know this?

Devon: My first clue was that they both have the exact same text tone for each other.

Audra: Tons of people have alerts on their phone for calls from certain people.

Devon: Right, yeah, but yours is pretty distinctive. And it concerned me enough to wonder, why is the person who is spearheading our ipo contacting my dad, the person who i originally thought was going after the company? So, I had someone look into it, and it turns out that audra’s business degree was pretty damn expensive and she racked up quite a bit of debt.

Audra: Like most grad students do.

Devon: Yeah.

Audra: Mbas are not cheap, and i was not born into money.

Devon: Well, you must have been just thrilled when all of your debt was paid off in one lump sum by an llc.

Audra: It was paid by a company I worked for, as a bonus.

Devon: Mm.

Audra: As far as I’m concerned, I earned that money.

Devon: I’m sure you did. The company had a really unique name. Do you remember it?

Audra: No, I don’t remember.

Devon: You don’t? The company that paid for your future? It was called only eyes for you.

Audra: Okay. I —

Devon: Well, that just so happens to be the name of the very first song that tucker ever produced.

Audra: Hmm. I had no idea.

Devon: And the fact that the name of the company and the name of the song are exactly the same is just a little too much of a coincidence not to mean something, and that something is pretty damn clear to me. Tucker paid for your student loans, and then both of you showed up in town at the exact same time. So, why don’t you tell us — what should we make of that?

Lily: Have you been working with tucker all along?

Ashley: You find my angst heavenly?

Tucker: [ Laughs ]

Ashley: I hope you don’t mean that the way it sounds. Otherwise, I’m gonna have to put you on my enemy list.

Tucker: Yeah. I got it.

Ashley: Thank you.

Tucker: No, like I said, I’m sorry you’re so upset, but this is the ashley that I remember so well — calm, cool, and collected one moment and then wild and fiery the next.

Ashley: Huh. Well, um, I’m glad that you find my torment humorous.

Tucker: No, don’t get me wrong. I’m — I’m sympathizing with you. You’re in an untenable situation with jack and diane. But, uh, this situation has seemed to awaken something in you that I love — your spark.

Ashley: Mm. It’s more than just a spark, though. It’s more like a wildfire.

Tucker: Mm. Of anger or excitement?

Ashley: Little bit of both.

Tucker: Mm-hmm. Yeah. And you know what else I love? You come here and you feel comfortable with me, you let your guard down and you allow yourself to be real and messy and complicated. There’s nothing sexier to me.

Ashley: Really?

Tucker: Mnh-mnh.

[ Glass thuds ]

Ashley: What are you gonna do about it?

[ Glass thuds ]

Tucker: That depends on you. Somedays, you just need it.

Ashley: [ Laughs ]

Tucker: Ah, there it is.

Ashley: Hmm?

Tucker: That was fire. That’s what I remember and missed so much. Don’t tell me you don’T.

Ashley: That would be showing my hand.

Tucker: Ah, I think you already did.

Ashley: Mm, don’t be so sure.

Tucker: You see it, though, right? That together we’re stronger than whatever kept us apart.

Ashley: I love this. I hate this.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ]

Ashley: I hate that I love this.

Tucker: But you love it the most, right?

Ashley: You do realize that this is just a smaller part of a bigger picture. There’s no evidence that we actually work.

Tucker: Well, maybe we should continue to test my hypothesis.

Ashley: Do you understand that I’m an actual scientist? And you can’t talk me into anything by misusing, you know, scientific terminology. It won’t work with me.

Tucker: Are you saying you’re smarter than me?

Ashley: Yes.

Tucker: Congratulations.

Ashley: And I’m too smart to fall for you again.

Tucker: [ Laughing ] Oh, really?

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Tucker: And yet here you are. What do you know? So I guess being with me is a smart choice.

Ashley: Mm. Um, you know, what happened here isn’t an indication of where our relationship is headed, though.

Tucker: Oh, god. Okay. I should have just kept my mouth shut…

Ashley: Sorry.

Tucker: …And enjoyed the moment.

[ Clears throat ] I’ll leave you, uh, a little space and go take a shower. You’ll be here when I’m done?

Ashley: Do you mind? I’m kind of enjoying the fact that diane’s not here. She’s not here, is she?

[ Both laugh ]

Tucker: Probably is. No, I’m enjoying it, too. Not that I’m reveling in your misery for my benefit.

Ashley: That’s okay. I’ll allow it this one time.

Tucker: And you can stay as long as you want. You know, I can clear some space in the closet. Right. [ Clicks tongue ] Don’t push it.

Ashley: Mnh-mnh.

Tucker: Hey —

Ashley: Wow!

Tucker: What?

Ashley: You are capable of listening. That’s — that’s good to know about you.

Tucker: Order some room service, some late-night snacks?

Ashley: Okay.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] I can’t believe I’m telling you this.

Phyllis: [ Clears throat ]

Daniel: Summer does blame diane, alright? She hates the danger that she’s brought into all with our lives. She doesn’t trust her. She doesn’t think it’s fair that everyone’s trying to protect her and that you’re being vilified. Look, her eyes are very much open to diane’s manipulations.

Phyllis: Then why is she making the choices she’s making?

Daniel: Because she feels this immense pressure to make nice with kyle.

Phyllis: Uh, if this is true and she told you this, well, why is she making these choices? I mean, why doesn’t she have my back? Why is she not sticking up for me?

Daniel: I think it’s just a case where you need to get out of your own head. You need to try and see this from summer’s point of view. I mean, she’s stuck between her husband and her mother. She feels like she has to be civil to diane, you know, for harrison’s sake. But she needs you. She needs your support right now. So just — I don’t know — give her a break already. Be the bigger person before whatever this is between the two of you spirals even further.

Audra: Yes, I do know tucker from my time in london, okay? But that has nothing to do with the work I’ve done at chancellor-winters.

Devon: Mm. Can you prove that at all?

Audra: I have prepared the company well for the ipo. And jill still wants to move forward with it, so it makes no sense to let the fact that i have ties to tucker disrupt the momentum. If we pause, it will get around, make us look unstable. Do we really want another embarrassing disruption so close to the announcement? Tucker poses no threat to you. Neither do I.

Lily: Why would we believe anything that you say?

[ Scoffs ] Oh, my god. I can’t deal with this right now. You’re fired. You’re fired! Have security escort her out of the building.

Audra: I’ll go… if you feel the same way.

Devon: [ Chuckles ]

Ashley: Ashley abbott beauty incorporated?

[ Folders rustling ] Jabot. Bingo. Jabot comps, evaluations. All the reports. He was targeting us. He was definitely —

Tucker: I doubt there’s anything in there you don’t already know. Who says you can’t go for bold

“The young and the restless”

will continue. Not flossing well?

Devon: So, you want to make your case for staying on board? Be my guest.

Audra: I can still be an asset to you.

Devon: Mm. How?

Audra: I know some things about tucker’s business and his goals, especially regarding you.

Devon: What kind of goals does my father have for me?

Audra: Let’s just say you weren’t wrong to think that he came in town with an interest in chancellor-winters.

Devon: Well, I mean, hell, i figured that out myself. Is this your plan? To betray his trust to win me over? ‘Cause how would I ever know what side you’re on?

Audra: It would be stupid for me to try and play both sides at this point.

Devon: Right. So, I’m just supposed to trust you then?

Audra: You don’t have to trust me. If I continue to work here, i assume I would have eyes on me at all times.

Devon: Yeah, you assume right. So, what’s your point?

Audra: That I already know a lot about this company. And I’m the kind of person you want on your side rather than your competition.

Devon: Really? So, you’re threatening me now? Well, let me remind you that you signed an nda when you started working here. So if you say anything to anyone about this company, you will be in court by the end of the day, with a lawsuit that will drag out for a very long time. And you’ll probably have to ask my dad for some more money.

Audra: I’m getting the sense this is the end of our working relationship.

Devon: I’m getting that sense, too. How about you get your things and you leave this building quietly so I don’t have to call security? Your services are no longer needed.

Audra: It’s your loss. You know, but I will say this. You’re not a very good judge of character, are you? You keep letting foxes into the henhouse — you know, your cousin, your father, and now me? You’ve been played a lot. Hmm. It makes me wonder how you’ve made it as far as you have.

Jack: You’re uncomfortable with things getting physical between us and you — you want it to stop?

Diane: No. No, not at all.

Jack: Then what did you want to discuss?

Diane: [ Sighs ] I want you to know that my feelings for you aren’t a holdover from the past or gratitude because of how wonderful you’ve been to me since I’ve come back to town. What I’m feeling is — is different. And I’m different. And for the first time in my life, I — I feel something that’s based on real friendship and not because I believe I need a man to take care of me.

Jack: That’s all good to know. But why are you telling me this now?

Diane: Because I’m just worried that it’s another problem with our plan. I mean, how can I even pretend to tolerate stark when I care so much about you?

Phyllis: Daniel, of course i want to be there for summer. Are you kidding me? Of course. I’m just trying to protect her. That’s all I’ve been trying to do. I just don’t understand why she told you this information instead of me.

Daniel: Well, it doesn’t matter. Now you know. And you cannot tell her that i told you any of this. I’m serious. You cannot tell her. And I know this is gonna be hard for you, but be subtle. Maybe apologize. Tell her that you were wrong to judge her so harshly and — i don’t know — let her know that you see, like, what a tough spot that she was put in. Just empathize with her.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] Ah. Interesting. Who’s distracted now?

Daniel: Um…I don’t know what you mean.

[ Clears throat ]

Phyllis: Don’t you?

Daniel: Mnh-mnh.

Phyllis: Huh. Uh, okay. Well, hey, listen. Thank you for telling me that. I’m gonna go find summer and talk to her.

Daniel: Good.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Daniel: Hey, I’m serious. No ratting me out.

Phyllis: [ Chuckles ]

Daniel: Hey. Are you alright?

Lily: Hey. Yeah.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah. No, I’m fine. I just, um, found out about another work crisis that I did not see coming.

Daniel: It’s not something that’s gonna affect omega sphere, is it?

Ashley: So, why do you have jabot’s financials?

Tucker: Uh [Clears throat] It was exploratory. It was a way of making a connection with you before i decided to move back to town. You know I told you I asked diane to get her hands on them for me.

Ashley: Those came from her?

Tucker: Mm. But I, uh — I changed my mind about going after jabot since spending some time with you. I want our connection to be untainted. But, uh, that information did help me devise the alternate idea for the two of us. Do you see what you’re capable of? You have such sway over me. You have completely altered my agenda.

Ashley: Right.

Tucker: Hey. Do you not — hey, look at me. After what just happened, are you gonna tell me you don’t feel the power between us? I mean, you can goad me and play hard to get all you like. I know you know what’s happening between us is real.

[ Pounding on door ]

Devon: Tucker, open the door. Having diabetes can raise a lot of questions.

Lily: No, no, no, no. There is nothing for you to worry about. We are all behind omega sphere.

Daniel: Um, look, I don’t mean to make this all about me.

Lily: No.

Daniel: Do you want to talk about whatever the problem is?

Lily: I don’t, um — I don’t really want to talk about it.

Daniel: Okay. Sure. Um, probably want to get home and get some rest, right?

Lily: Well, I probably should do that, but I feel like if I go home, I’m just gonna… you know what? Why don’t we just sit here and talk about things that don’t matter?

[ Chuckles ]

Daniel: I’m in.

Lily: Okay. [ Chuckles ]

Jack: Are you sure you’re not using stark as an excuse to maybe find out what’s going on between us?

Diane: I promise you that wasn’t my intention. But maybe you’re right. Maybe we should talk about it. I mean, given the stakes of what we’re dealing with, it might be a good idea for us to clarify how we’re feeling — or, actually, for you to tell me how you feel because I’ve already told you how I feel.

Jack: Okay, stop, stop. Stop talking. I care a lot about you. Of course I do. You have to know that.

Nate: Audra. Hey.

Audra: What a lovely surprise. Um, and perfect timing.

[ Clears throat ] I’m here to celebrate. Would you like to join me?

Nate: Of course. Who am I to turn down an offer like that? And I’d love to hear this good news.

Audra: Ah, then it calls for a toast.

Nate: Okay. Excuse me. What are you having?

Audra: A vodka tonic.

Nate: And another scotch. On my tab, please. So, what are we celebrating?

Audra: Um, I’ve moved on from chancellor-winters.

Nate: Really? How’s that possible? They haven’t gone public yet.

Audra: Yeah, everything is in order, and they don’t need me for what comes next. So it’s off to my next adventure.

Nate: Ah. Does that mean you’re leaving genoa city?

Audra: Yeah. I mean, that’s the plan. I’m the kind of person that needs a challenge to keep me engaged.

Nate: I get it. I’m the same way. You know, if you’d ever consider sticking around, I might have just the opportunity for someone like you.

Audra: Really? I’m intrigued.

Tucker: Hey. What’s going on? You okay?

Ashley: Hi.

Tucker: Hi, ashley. I apologize for this.

[ Door closes ] It’s over, tucker.

Tucker: What’s over?

Devon: You and me, whatever relationship you think we have. It’s done. I know about your collusion with audra, and I know that you’re using her to try and scoop up controlling interest of the company after we take it public.

Tucker: If that were the case, why would I encourage you to trust your instincts that the ipo was a bad idea?

Devon: I don’t know. Maybe you were trying to throw me off track. I bet it was tough for you not to laugh, though, every time i talked about nate betraying us since he and victoria were just doing you a favor by distracting us and opening up a clear path for you and audra to screw over chancellor-winters.

Tucker: I don’t know what went down between you and audra.

Devon: You don’t know? You haven’t talked to her today yet? You should check your messages ’cause she’s been fired, meaning she no longer has access to anything chancellor-winters, which means that you no longer have access to it — or to me or to my son.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ] Whatever you think is going on here, you’re wrong about it.

Devon: Mm.

Tucker: Because I’ve never had any ill intentions towards you or your company. My only interest in your business is helping you.

Devon: Is that right?

Tucker: Yeah. And supporting you.

Devon: Okay. If that were the truth, then why did you come to town claiming that you wanted to connect with me and your grandson when you were really just using that relationship so you can stick a damn plant in my company to try and take it over? In my family’s company, the only real family I’ve ever had in my life, half thanks to you ’cause you never been there for me. And you obviously never will be.

Tucker: Uh…devon, let me explain something to you.

Devon: I don’t want to hear anything you have to say to me because I’m not gonna believe a word of it. Your talk is B.S. It’s B.S. On top of B.S. I don’t even know how you keep it all together in your head. And I really don’t know how I or anyone else believed your story about discovering yourself and the meaning of life ’cause the only meaning you ever find in anything is your own self-interest and greed. Because you will clearly — you’ll sacrifice your family to get your hands on the next shiny thing that you want.

Tucker: Hey, you are misunderstanding the circumstances, and you’re getting dangerously close to crossing the line with me.

Devon: And what the hell is that supposed to mean? There’s a line now that I’m getting close to crossing? You know something, tucker? You should leave genoa city tonight ’cause I’m gonna make it my mission to make for sure there’s no one left in this town who will ever defend you for the rest of your life.

[ Door slams ] If you have copd, ask your doctor about breztri.

Tucker: I’m sorry you had to hear that. You have to know that what he was accusing me of is just not true.

Ashley: Yeah, well, you know, I never trusted you anyway, so you couldn’t really sink any lower in my book.

Tucker: What are you talking about?

Ashley: Oh, well, all this — you know, all of this was just, um… you know, it was just an act so that I could get to the truth, you know? And because I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time…

Tucker: Okay —

Ashley: …Mission accomplished, you know? So…

Tucker: Hold on.

Ashley: Bye, tucker.

Tucker: Wait a minute, ashley.

[ Door slams ]

Diane: [ Chuckles ] Well, that’s my cue to go to my hotel…alone.

Jack: I wasn’t suggesting otherwise.

Diane: That’s too bad.

Jack: I could, uh, give you a ride maybe.

Diane: Oh, no, I’m — I’m fine. I have my car.

Jack: Hey, I know we’re facing some serious challenges here. We’ll handle this together.

Audra: So, what kind of opportunity are you proposing?

Nate: I’m looking for a coo for newman media.

Audra: Hmm. Interesting.

Nate: If you really think so, you should throw your hat in the ring. I can’t promise you anything, but I believe you’d be a great candidate for this position.

Audra: I don’t disagree.

Nate: It would dovetail with your skill set while offering you a change from what you’ve been doing. And if it all works out, we’ll have plenty more to drink to.

Audra: Who am I to say no to that?

[ Laughs ]

Nate: Yeah?

Audra: Consider my hat tossed.

Tucker: [ Groans ] You look how I feel.

Phyllis: How do I look? How do you feel?

Tucker: So, you ready yet?

Phyllis: For what?

Tucker: Burn it all down.

Update written by Barbara

At Crimson Lights, Phyllis is distracted while Daniel tries tries to get her to prepare a top notch tech team for his gaming platform.  Choking back tears, she tells him she is upset because Summer chose Diane over her. Daniel decides to let Phyllis know about his conversation with Summer and what Summer told him about being in the middle of her mother and Kyle’s mother.

Daniel also lets Phyllis know that Summer feels there’s Diane’s presence in all of their lives poses a risk, due to Diane’s association with a criminal. Daniel urges Phyllis to reach out to her daughter. Phyllis decides he’s right, and heads  to the Abbott house to find Summer and make amends with her.

Meanwhile, at the Abbott house, Diane is having second thoughts about stealing from Nikki. Jack mentions that Nikki is the ideal victim and urges Diane to move ahead with the plan.

When Ashley comes into the living room, she angrily mentions that Diane and Jack are  “conspiring”. Diane says that she doesn’t want to come between Ashley and Jack, which causes Ashley to storm out of the house. She goes over to Tucker’s suite at The Grand Phoenix. Apologizing for showing up unannounced, Ashley complaining vigorously that Diane is basically around all the time and has “infected” her family “like a virus.”

Tucker and Ashley start flirting, and land in bed. Smiling in the afterglow, Ashley admits to Tucker how she hates that she loves this and does not consider it evidence that things between them will work. Tucker realizes he shouldn’t push it and goes to take a shower. This gives Ashley the opportunity to look through some of his files.

One of them is a set of plans for a company named Ashley Abbott Beauty Incorporated, another is all of Jabot’s financial information. Tucker catches Ashley snooping tells her that what she found was an “exploratory” way of making a connection with her before he came to town. Tucker mentions that Ashley completely changed his agenda and tells Ashley that he knows she’s aware that’s happening between them is real.

After Devon gets information from his source that connects Audra and Tucker, he summons Audra to Chancellor-Winters. Lily is there when Devon confronts Audra and accuses her of being a traitor. Devon lets Audra know he’s aware that her phone’s text tone is the same as the one on Tucker’s phone, so clearly the two of them have been in cohoots.

In addition, Devon tells Audra he found out that the company with the name of the first song Tucker ever produced paid off her student loans. Audra admits that she knows Tucker, but  denies that anything shady is going on and tries to keep the Chancellor-Winters IPO moving forward. Lily speaks up, declaring that Audra is fired, and suggests that Devon have security escort Audra off the premises. Audra tries one final time for Devon to allow her to keep her job, but he won’t won’t back down. Any and all trust between Devon and Audra is broken.

After Audra makes a vague reference to the possibility of going to work for the competition, Devon reminds her that she signed a NDA she signed and tells her that if she violates it, she’ll end up in court by the end of the day. As Audra leaves, she tells Devon that it’s his loss. She also makes a snide remark about him being a poor judge of character because he keeps letting “foxes into the hen house.” She mentions his cousin, his father and now her, and tells him he has been played more than once.

Audra goes over to Society, where she runs into Nate at the bar. She tells him that she’s there to celebrate. She proposes a toast because she has moved on from Chancellor-Winters. She says that she is about to start on her next adventure. Nate wonders why she left Chancellor-Winters before the company goes public, and Audra tells him that that everything is in order for the IPO and they don’t need for what comes next. She does not let on that she did not leave Chancellor-Winters of her own volition, that she was fired.

Nate mentions that he could use a COO at Newman Media, and she’d be a potentially good fit for the position. He lets her know that if she’s interested, she can throw her hat in the ring. He also tells her, however, that he can’t promise her anything. Audra says that she finds the situation intriguing and tells Nate to consider her hat tossed.

Devon bangs on the door to Tucker’s suite and interrupts Tucker’s time with Ashley. After Devon announces that any relationship that he had with Tucker is over, he lets Tucker know he’s aware that Audra was a plant at Tucker at Chancellor-Winters for Tucker. Devon accuses Tucker of trying to scoop up a controlling interest in the company before it would go public.

Tucker tries to explain, but Devon rages about how Tucker’s talk is “BS on top of BS” and lets him know hat Audra was fired from Chancellor-Winters. He adds that Tucker will no longer have access to his him, to his son and now that Audra’s out of the picture he won’t have access to anything relating to the family company.

Devon accuses himself of self-interest and greed. Tucker tells Devon that he’s misunderstanding the circumstances and is dangerously close to crossing the line with him. Devon is aghast that Tucker would even say something like this in light of all the lying he has done. He strongly

Devon lets him know that after what has transpired, he will make sure there’s no one in town who will ever defend Tucker for the rest of his life. He strongly suggests that Tucker leave Genoa City that night. After Devon storms out, Ashley, who witnessed the altercation, tells Tucker that she never trusted Tucker anyway, and sleeping with him and seemingly enjoying it was all an act.

She adds that she happened to be in the right place at the right time to witness what she did between Devon and Tucker, so she has seen the kind of person Tucker can be. However, after leaving Tucker’s suite, Ashley pauses in the hall, looking sad and pensive. Tucker slams his door and hurls a bunch of papers across the room.

Lily goes to Crimson Lights, where she bumps into Daniel. He asks how she’s doing and she references a work crisis that she didn’t see coming. She adds that she doesn’t want to go home yet so Daniel and just wants to stay at the coffeehouse for awhile and “talk about things that don’t matter”. He agrees to hang out with her.

Meanwhile, Diane is at the Abbott house with Jack and lets him know that she has the desire to kiss him again and what she is feeling is not a hold over from years ago or about gratitude for  how wonderful he has been to her since she got back to town. She tells him that what she feels now is different becauuse she is different.

Jack says that this is good to know and wonders why she is telling him now. She replies that it’s because she’s going to have a difficult time going through with their plan and pretend that she wants to spend time with Jeremy feeling the way she does about Jack. This leads to them kissing passionately.

When Phyllis shows up at the Abbott house, looking for Summer, before ringing the bell, she looks through the glass panes in the front door and sees Jack and Diane kissing. She leaves and winds up at the Glam Club sitting alone in misery. Tucker comes over with a drink in his hand, sits down next to her and mentions that she looks the way he feels.  When Phyllis asks him how does she look and how does he feel, he replies by asking her if she’s ready to “burn it all down”.
