Sam: Okay. How can I help?

Carly: You heard that Trina was arrested for making and distributing the video?

Sam: Yeah.

Carly: She didn’t do it.

Sam: Do you think she was set up?

Carly: I know she was — by Spencer’s girlfriend, Esme Prince. The problem is…

Sam: You need proof.

Carly: I need to know if the PCPD has any evidence against Esme.

Sam: And you’re asking me because…

Carly: Because you’re sleeping with a cop.

Dante: Officer?

Rory: Uh, yes, Detective?

Dante: Forensics is dragging their feet on some labs I’m waiting on. Can you do me a solid and get over there and light a fire under them for me?

Dante: Excellent.

Jordan: Detective Falconeri.

Dante: Present.

Jordan: He’s a rookie.

Dante: Yeah.

Jordan: He got out of the academy like 5 minutes ago. Cut him some slack.

Dante: Yeah. Okay.

Jordan: As I’m sure someone once did for you.

Dante: Ehh.

[ Footsteps approaching ]

Arden: Commissioner Ashford.

Jordan: -ADA Arden. – [ Sighs ] What can we do for you?

Arden: Any new developments in the Trina Robinson case?

Jordan: Not yet, but we’re working on it.

Arden: Keep me posted. We’ve got a good case, but it’s mostly circumstantial. I need more.

Dante: You need more. You sound like you’re really going after Trina Robinson.

Arden: She secretly recorded people having sex and distributed the video without their consent. That’s revenge porn, Detective. She might have thought it was some kind of prank, but in reality, it’s a felony. One that I intend to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

Dante: Hm. What’s up?

Jordan: Conflict of interest.

Dante: Oh, come on. We went through this. Yes, the victim is my former stepsister. Well, I know. We — we — we went past this, haven’t we?

Jordan: It’s not with you — me. My job as commissioner is to help the DA’s office put Trina away.

Dante: Right. So where’s the conflict?

Jordan: I don’t believe she’s guilty.

Trina: Mr. Weaver, right? He’s always insuring his clients’ work as way over market value.

Ava: [ Laughing ] Trina, hi! I have missed you so much. Oh! What brings you by?

Ava: Really? I — you know, I don’t know why, but I just figured that y-you might be —

Trina: Actually, um, I’ve been spending a lot of time with my mom and Curtis and his family, and his dad’s been really nice to me, too, you know?

[ Light rustling ]

Trina: And we’ve had some pretty good conversations.

Ava: I’m so glad to hear it.

Trina: [ Sighs ] I’m glad to be here. So why don’t you head home and, uh, I can stay and finish up?

Ava: Oh, that’s so nice of you. But, no, I — I’m glad to be here, too. I’d rather be here. [ Chuckles ]

Trina: Why? When you have a handsome husband waiting for you at Wyndemere?

Ava: Mm. He’s handsome enough. He’s also not alone.

Alexis: Harmony?

Harmony: Alexis. What are you doing here?

Alexis: I was waiting for the launch, uh, to go over to Spoon Island. What are you doing here, sitting out here all by yourself, alone at night?

NIna reeves was pregnant and in a coma. She couldn’t consent to an adoption. I wonder how much the wealthy heiress will pay for this information.

Alexis: Harmony.

Harmony: [ Breathes sharply ]

Alexis: Hello? Obviously, something is bothering you. Whatever it is, you can tell me about it.

Michael: So, I see you made good on your threat.

Nina: I’m just simply exercising my rights as a grandparent. Why? Did you think I wouldn’t?

Brendan: Help me out here. That elegant woman talking to the unhappy couple. Is she who I think she is?

Waiter: Yep. NIna reeves. Editor-in-Chief of Crimson Magazine.

Nina: You left me no choice. You drew a line in the sand. And you, of course, are standing by his side.

Willow: Of course I am. Because I love Wiley.

Nina: And so do I. And I’m willing to prove it. Are you?

Sam: Okay, that was direct, even coming from you.

Carly: I’m sorry, but this whole situation has got me —

Sam: Cutting to the chase? I get it. Okay, so I’m going to do the same thing for you. No, because Dante and I aren’t just sleeping together. We’re in a relationship.

Carly: And I’m all for it.

Sam: Because you think you can get me to spy on him?

Carly: No. I’m happy for both of you. The spying is an added bonus.

Sam: [ Sighs lightly ] Okay. I know that Dante is not the lead detective on the case.

Carly: Okay, maybe not, but joss is involved, so Dante has had to take a personal interest in the case.

Sam: Yeah, but he’s not gonna discuss that with me.

Carly: Come on, are you saying that Dante always leaves his work at the precinct?

Sam: Look, I know as much as you do. The PCPD is following the evidence, and it led them to Trina. What else do you want me to say?

Carly: The evidence is wrong.

Dante: Well, anyone who knows Trina knows that she didn’t do this. Unfortunately, so far, all the evidence we have points to her, so hopefully the newbie comes back with something that can help us out.

Jordan: And by “us,” you mean…

Dante: Team Trina.

Jordan: [ Sighs ] We can’t be “Team Trina.” We have to be objective.

Dante: Officially, we are.

Jordan: And if the labs come back and they’re not what we’re hoping, we still have to hand them over to the ADA.

Dante: Yeah. What is up with her? Has she got it in for Trina or something?

Jordan: [ Sighs ] Honestly, it has nothing to do with Trina. Arden’s a crusader. She doesn’t care who the defendant is. If the evidence points towards their guilt, they’re guilty.

Dante: [ Sighs ] And if it doesn’t? She’ll drop it. So we need to find evidence that exonerates Trina.

Jordan: And we need to do it soon. Trina’s trial is coming up. Arden is a skilled prosecutor with a strong record of convictions. Trina could go to prison for a crime she didn’t commit.

Trina: So Spencer moved back to Wyndemere? What about Esme?

Ava: She’s there, too.

Trina: I see. So, um… they kissed and made up now that she’s having his baby?

Ava: No. E-Esme is not pregnant.

Trina: Like it matters. I knew they were going to get back together. After Spencer said that he did believe that I was the one that made the video, it was only a matter of time.

Ava: You know, from what I can see, Spencer and Esme are far from back together.

Trina; Oh. Well… whatever. [ Scoffs ] She’s still living with him now, right? [ Chuckles ]

Ava: A-about that… if anybody’s to blame for bringing that alley cat into the house, it’s not Spencer.

Trina: Then who?

Ava: You’re looking at her.

Nikolas: You haven’t ruined my life.

Esme: Haven’t I? You and Ava were planning to renew your vows.

Nikolas: We still are.

Esme: Oh, thank God. I know how much the ceremony means to you both. To make a fresh start and celebrate having the kind of love that, um, anyone would envy. But now you and Ava are fighting because of me, because my presence here is unacceptable to her.

Nikolas: [ Breathes deeply ] That may be true. But it’s not gonna hurt my marriage to Ava.

Esme: But you’re sleeping in separate rooms.

Nikolas: So? Couples fight. They sleep in separate rooms. Despite our present difficulties…

Esme: In other words, me.

Nikolas: …Ava and I are rock solid, and nothing or no one’s gonna come between us. And you, Esme, are not going anywhere.

Spencer: Father’s right. We need to keep you safe.

Esme: Even though I’m not carrying your baby?

Nikolas: Either way, you wound up in Sonny’s crosshairs.

Spencer: Which means you need to stay here. For now.

Esme: For now. As a guest and… nothing more.

Harmony: I always come here.

Alexis: Alone? At night?

Harmony: Yeah, I just, you know, I come and look at the boats and breathe the night air and just — I don’t know — reflect.

[ Water splashing softly ]

Alexis: Well, your reflection doesn’t seem to make you very relaxed.

Harmony: Well, when you live my life, reflecting isn’t always a party.

Alexis: [ Sighs ] Fair enough. [ Sighs ] So, I think I-I might know something about what you’re thinking about.

Harmony: You do?

Alexis: Carly mentioned that you approached her about a job.

Harmony: Yeah. [ Clears throat ] Yeah. Guilty as charged.

Alexis: That’s a good idea. You tell me what you were making at Spring Ridge, and if Carly can pay you more, you can quit your job.

Harmony: Maybe. Then I could be out of your house and your hair sooner.

Alexis: Harmony, I told you you could stay there until you make enough money to get your own place.

Harmony: Yeah, but even so… no, there’s just — there’s too many memories at your place.

Alexis: Yeah, you recruiting my daughter in my house. Trying to get her into Dawn of Day is — is not a pleasant memory for either of us.

Harmony: Yeah. It’s just that the past is never really the past, right? Somehow, it has a way of catching up with us.

Brendon: Do me a favor — take my picture and try to get Ms. Reeves in the shot.

Michael: Willow doesn’t have to explain anything, especially to you.

Willow: If anyone has something to prove, NIna, it’s you.

Nina: Willow, that’s exactly my point. How am I supposed to prove my love for my grandson if I don’t have a chance? Listen, you have the power to do that, Willow. Let’s just stop fighting before we take it in front of a judge. Let’s reach a compromise.

Willow: Oh, and by “compromise,” you mean that you win.

Nina: Wiley wins. More family, more love. And at the end of the day, isn’t that the only thing that matters?

Brendan: Did you get Ms. Reeves in the shot? Yes, you did. And the couple, too. Who are they, by the way?

Waiter: Uh, that’s Michael Corinthos and his girlfriend, Willow.

Brendan: Willow Tait? I can’t wait to send this to my wife. She’ll be over the moon.

Waiter: [ Chuckles lightly ]

Alexis: Who do you think you’re talking to? My past hasn’t exactly been a picnic. But at some point, you have to learn to put it behind you. And I am learning to do that, and maybe you can let me help you do the same.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Carly: I have known Trina since she and Josslyn were in junior high. Cameron and Trina helped Josslyn mourn Oscar. Trina was Josslyn’s rock. She is kind, loving, and smart.

Sam: And Esme? Clearly, she’s smart enough to frame people.

Carly: She’s smart. She’s overconfident. She practically called me a slut to my face.

Sam: Okay. Uh, what was she thinking?

Carly: She was thinking that Nikolas, who had just walked in the door, was going to run to her rescue if I got mad, and that’s exactly what happened.

Sam: And Esme — she is a manipulator who knows how to play people.

Carly: Oh, yeah. Josslyn said she was pulling strings the whole time the five of them were at the cabin. I’m telling you, Sam, Esme made that video, loaded it onto the phone, and then dropped that phone in Trina’s bag to frame her. And if Esme gets away with this, who’s she gonna go after next?

Jordan: Arresting Trina was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. She was completely blindsided, came willingly to the police station, and genuinely wanted to cooperate. It’s clear to me that Trina’s innocent.

[ Knock on door ]

Dante: Yeah. Come in.

Rory: Detective. Mm. Here’s the forensics report you asked for.

Dante: Excellent, Rory. Thank you very much.

Rory: Uh, anything else?

Dante: No, not for now. I’ll, uh — we’ll let you know. Could get used to this.

Jordan: Rory’s a good kid.

Dante: You want to do the honors?

Jordan: [ Sighs ] [ Sighs ]

Dante: How bad is it?

Jordan: Bad.

Trina: Wait. So it was your idea for Esme to move into Wyndemere?

Ava: Mnh, it was definitely not my idea. [ Chuckles ] I-I was just so outraged by your arrest that I — I sought out Avery’s father.

Trina: You went to Sonny?

Ava: Yeah. Well, I wanted to voice my concerns about what Esme was doing to Josslyn and to you, two young women that Sonny and I, respectively, love like our own daughters.

Trina: Okay. A-and then what?

Ava: Sonny arranged to have a private chat with Esme.

Trina: Oh, my gosh. She must have been petrified.

Ava: Yeah. One can only hope. Anyway, unfortunately, it backfired, and Nikolas came to Esme’s rescue, and then Spencer asked if the two of them could — could move in, and then Nikolas agreed without even mentioning it to me. And there’s just one small consolation, which is that I can keep an eye on Esme. And you might be interested to know that she has her room and Spencer has his.

Trina: Well, what about you and Mr. Cassadine? Are — are you okay?

Ava: Mm. That depends on what you mean by “okay.”

Trina: Ava… no. [ Sighs ] Don’t tell me you two broke up because of me.

Harmony: Alexis, I really have to go.

Alexis: No. Harmony, stop doing that.

Harmony: I can’t.

Alexis: No. You need to stop doing that. Obviously, s-something in that text upset you, and you don’t have to tell me what’s in it, but you do have to tell me what I can do to help you.

[ Water splashing softly, bell clanging in distance ]

Harmony: [ Voice breaking ] Thank you. But there’s nothing anyone can do.

[ Air horn blows ]

Harmony: The launch is about to leave. [ Sighs lightly ]Go be with your nephew.

Carly: Yeah, but Harmony said something else that was really strange. She said she owed NIna.

Nina: We can do this without the lawyers and the judges if you’ll just meet me halfway.

Willow: I see what you’re doing, NIna. Trying to divide and conquer.

Michael: And it’s not subtle.

Nina: No, I’m just trying to plead with Willow, because between the two of you, at least Willow might have a little bit more compassion.

Willow: Well, whatever it is you think you’re doing, Michael and I are together on this.

Nina: Alright, is this what you want? I didn’t ask for a fight, but I know how to finish it.

Michael: You know, you may have Scott on your side [Chuckling] And you may even have my father, but we have resources of our own. Look, you might want to quit while you’re ahead, because I promise you, NIna, this — this is not gonna be pretty.

Brendan: Excuse me. NIna reeves? I can’t believe what a lucky break this is.

Nina: I’m sorry, but we’re in the middle of a conversation.

Brendan: Oh, no, you don’t understand, Ms. Reeves. The lucky one is you.

Sam: Well, if you’re right about Esme [Sighs] Then she needs to be exposed. I would say the sooner the better, but I can’t ask my boyfriend for privileged information.

Carly: I figured. [ Sighs ] But it was worth a shot, right? [ Chuckles ]

Sam: Yeah. I mean, I probably would have done the same thing.

Carly: Does this mean I don’t have to apologize?

Sam: Were you actually going to?

Carly: [ Laughing ] I don’t know. Sam, look, I-I don’t — I don’t claim to be objective. I don’t. My daughter was publicly humiliated and violated, an innocent young woman is gonna take the fall, and it’s only going to encourage Esme even more.

Sam: Do you really think she’s that dangerous?

Carly: I do now. Sonny had Esme brought to his office for a little chat. Nikolas and Victor showed up to rescue her, and now she’s checked in at Wyndemere.

Sam: Well, it’s one thing to have Spencer and Nikolas snowed, but Victor?

Carly: Do you think he believes her?

Sam: I don’t know. Victor doesn’t believe anyone. And if he finds Esme useful, then it could be a whole different kind of dangerous.

Carly: Right. So will you ask Dante if he knows anything?

Sam: Didn’t you just not apologize for that? I don’t like the idea of spying on my boyfriend, and I don’t want to risk my relationship and end up… ugh.

Carly: Like me?

Sam: No, that’s not… [ Scoffs ] Carly.

Carly: It’s okay. You can say it. You have someone in your life, and I don’t.

[ Telephone rings in distance ]

Jordan: These results alone aren’t damning, but on top of everything else…

[ Papers thump lightly ]

Dante: It’s not looking good for Trina.

Jordan: So here’s what we’ve got. It started with the video, the illegal recording of Joss and Cam.

Dante: [ Sighs ] Which could have been achieved any number of ways. Uh, the person who shot the video didn’t necessarily even have to be in the same room as the camera.

Jordan: Then we find the phone inside of Trina’s bag with her fingerprints all over it.

Dante: [ Sighs ] Well, they made it to look like Trina’s phone so she could have touched it who knows how many times before she realized it wasn’t hers. Now the records show that someone used the phone to make an online purchase using one of Trina’s credit cards.

Dante: So? It is easy to steal credit card information.

Jordan: The purchase was a download from a fine arts website — some images by the artist Richard Molyneaux.

Dante: You know, I got to go with my gut, and it’s saying that she’s been framed.

Jordan: To us, but to Arden, this is as close to a smoking gun as she’s gonna get. This may be the thing that convicts Trina.

Ava: Nikolas and I are having a, um… an extreme difference of opinion.

Trina: Because you’re siding with me against Esme?

Ava: Because Esme is a conniving little snake!

[ Thumps ]

Ava: And because I was furious that Nikolas gave the okay for her and Spencer to move in without even asking me.

Trina: How furious?

Ava: I briefly considered moving out.

Trina: Ava.

Ava: I-I said “briefly.” After I cooled down, I changed tactics. Now I’m back home. I’m keeping an eye on Esme, and I’m still able to keep Nikolas at an arm’s length.

Trina: What does that mean?

Ava: Separate bedrooms.

Trina: I’m sorry, but… it sounds like you’re giving Esme and Spencer exactly what they want.

Alexis: Hey!

Spencer: Aunt Alexis!

Alexis: Hi, Spencer.

Spencer: Hey. How’s it going?

Alexis: Good.

Spencer: [ Sighs ] Your timing couldn’t have been better. Things have been more than a little tense around here.

Alexis: Mm. I take it some crisis has forced you to share digs with your father?

Spencer: Actually, I decided to move back in.

Alexis: Really? So you and Nikolas are on the mend?

Spencer: Not exactly.

Nikolas: [ Sighs ] I wonder what’s keeping Spencer.

Esme: Mm. Maybe it’s Ava?

Nikolas: Ava has a key.

Esme: Right. [ Chuckles ] Of course. How stupid of me. Mr. Cassadine, I just want you to know that… I really feel for you. Your situation.

Nikolas: Do you, now?

Esme: I do. And I know that as long as I remain in this house, it’s putting a —

Nikolas: Stop right there. You are staying on this island where it is safe.

Esme: But —

Nikolas: I — that’s final.

Esme: Well, if you insist.

Nikolas: I do.

Esme: In that case, um, there’s no reason for me to stay here in the main house. I could always just fix up the old gardener’s cottage, cook my own meals. Ava would never see me.

Nikolas: I appreciate the offer, but that’s not necessary.

Esme: Better that than to watch you suffer. I mean, maybe it’s because… …even though my adoptive parents did their best, I never felt like I truly belonged. That’s why I hate to see your family in pain.

[ Door opens ]

Spencer: Look who’s here.

Alexis: Nikolas, as usual, you’re full of surprises.

[ Door closes ]

Nina: I’m sorry, but as you can see, we’re in the middle of a very important conversation.

Brendan: And I’m sorry to interrupt, but when I saw you all together, Michael Corinthos and Willow Tait, right?

Michael: Yes.

Brendan: Wow. If you only knew what this means to me. But it could mean even more to you.

Willow: [ Sighs ]

Michael: Well, it sounds like you’re selling something.

Willow: Like a bridge or some really great swamp land. [ Chuckles ] Mister…?

Brendan: Byrne. Brendon Byrne. Green Light Investments. Given the success of Crimson, I came to town hoping to make Aurora media one hell of an offer — and trust me, it could be a real game-changer for all of you.

Sam: I wasn’t implying that you didn’t have anyone in your life. And I’m really sorry if I made it sound like that way.

Carly: It’s okay. You didn’t. Divorcing Sonny means letting go of a lot. But it also means being open to a new future with new possibilities, right? [ Chuckles ] But right now, I’m focused on my daughter and clearing Trina and getting the goods on Esme. But not at the expense of your relationship with Dante. So I’m sorry. Please forget that I asked. Okay?

Sam: Okay. Anything else I can do to help?

Carly: You did help. You let me vent. And, clearly [Chuckling] I needed to. Now, go. Go. ‘Cause I know Dante would love to see you.

Sam: Alright. You know, tonight’s going to be a tossup between me and pizza, but I do want you to know that Josslyn’s going to be okay. And so will Trina. But Esme?

Carly: She won’t. Damn straight. [ Sighs ]

Dante: Alright, so we get this file to Arden, and then what?

Jordan: Up to now, we’ve followed the evidence.

Dante: Well, look where that’s gotten us so far.

Jordan: Now we do what you suggested.

Dante: Oh, one of my brilliant ideas?

Jordan: [ Scoffs ]

Dante: Which one? I mean, there’s so many to choose from, it’s tough to narrow it down.

Jordan: We follow our instincts, our gut — specifically yours.

Dante: Sounds good. Where do you want me and my gut to start?

Jordan: With Esme Prince. She’s a classic mean girl. Petty, vengeful, but very thorough. I don’t think she’s an evil genius by any means, though I could be wrong.

Dante: And what’s your gut saying?

Jordan: It says be careful. Don’t underestimate her. We might only get one shot to nail her, and we need to do it soon. Otherwise, Esme might just pull this off.

Trina: Think about how this whole thing started. Spencer and Esme wanted to separate you and Nikolas.

Ava: We are not separated.

Trina: Just sleeping in different bedrooms? I’m sorry. Was that disrespectful?

Ava: No. Not when it comes from a place of caring.

Trina: Ava, look. You have something real with Nikolas. You can’t jeopardize that.

Ava: Maybe Nikolas should have thought of that before he welcomed Esme into our house without my consent.

Trina: I’m sure Esme manipulated him into it. That’s what she does. I’m sure that she is loving every minute that you and Nikolas are fighting over her. Please, Ava. You can’t give her the satisfaction. If you want to help me, show Esme that she’s not going to win. Show her that your marriage to Nikolas is stronger than her schemes.

Alexis: Esme, Spencer tells me that you’re crashing here now.

Nikolas: Not crashing. She’s our guest.

Alexis: For how long?

Nikolas: Indefinitely.

Esme: I am so grateful for Mr. Cassadine’s hospitality. You’ve been on quite a journey yourself.

Esme: Well, since Thanksgiving. Thanks again for including me and Spence, by the way.

Alexis: Actually, you and Spence were the least of my problems that night.

Esme: And now look at you. I mean, between that amazing interview with Josslyn and Cameron and those headlines with Trina, you’ve made The Invader a must-read.

Alexis: Mm. I’m sure that The Invader and I will have a lot more to say on both those subjects as the story unfolds.

Spencer: If you’ll all excuse me, I need some air.

Nikolas: Son… we have a guest. Aunt Alexis knows how much I love her and cherish our one-on-one time, which I’m sure we’ll have soon enough.

Alexis: Absolutely. I love you, too. Can’t wait to catch up.

Spencer: [ Sighs ]

Esme: I’m sure you two have plenty to catch up on. If you’ll excuse me.

[ Door opens ]

Esme: Spence, wait! Was it something I said?

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Brendan: I’ll do just that. I have a feeling we have much to discuss. Ms. Reeves. Ms. Tait.

[ Elevator button clicks ]

Dante: I was, um — I was gonna call you like half an hour ago, maybe even about an hour ago. I don’t know. But I meant to call you. [ Breathes deeply ]

Sam: Long day?

Dante: Yeah, yeah. But it’s better now that you’re here.

Sam: I’m sorry I have to take your top cop away from you, but he is in some desperate need of pizza, aren’t you?

Dante: Mmm.

Jordan: [ Scoffs ] You eat pizza?

Dante: I do. Actually, you know, forget pizza. Let’s do something more fancy.

Sam: Why? What’s the occasion?

Dante: You know, I’ll tell you later.

Sam: [ Chuckles ] Okay.

Dante: [ Chuckles ] Hey, Rory, can you, uh, email that file to ADA Arden and cc me, and then log it in the Trina Robinson case file as new evidence?

Sam: New evidence?

Ava: As much as I would love to pin all the blame on Esme, ultimately, it’s a matter of trust — or lack of it — between Nikolas and me. It says something about our marriage — doesn’t it? — That — that he didn’t come to me before opening our home to Esme and Spencer?

Trina: Well, did you go to him before you turned to Sonny?

Ava: Well, I wasn’t inviting Sonny to live with us. [ Chuckles ] But I see your point.

Trina: I just think [Sighs] The more you and Nikolas get in your respective positions, the more room Esme has to maneuver.

Ava: Thank you, Trina. I appreciate your insight… and whatever happens next, that’s between Nikolas and me. And in the meantime, you and i need to discuss ground rules.

Trina: Why do I need ground rules?

Ava: No, not you, honey. No.

Trina:[ Sighs ]

Ava; Spencer. If it makes you at all uncomfortable supervising him, I’ll go to Scott. I’ll ask him to go back to the court and find some other way for Spencer to complete his restitution.

Esme: It’s such a beautiful night. Reminds me of the night we met, when I saw you wandering around the garden at school, looking so sad and alone… and so handsome. And I said…

Spencer: I still need more time. I’m catching the launch into town.

Spencer: No. It’s not safe for you, remember? Besides, I’m going to the gallery.

Esme: To see Trina.

Spencer: No, to see Ava.

Esme: Why not just wait for her to come home?

Spencer: Because you can cut the tension around here with a knife. I need to get out of here, and I’m going to make it clear to Ava that I’ll make restitution with her some other way that is not working with Trina.

Alexis: Now I know why you’ve been avoiding me.

Nikolas: I haven’t been avoiding you. Of course not.

Alexis: And while you haven’t been avoiding me, Esme and Spencer have moved in and Ava’s moved out?

Nikolas: Ava has not moved out. What did Spencer tell you?

Alexis: That you have a long-distance marriage. That she stays at her end of the hallway and you stay at your end.

Nikolas: [ Chuckles ] That is hardly long distance.

Alexis: Oh, these hallways, that’s a — that’s a big hike. Why is Esme here?

Nikolas: Because Sonny threatened her.

Alexis: [ Scoffs ] Really? Did you actually hear the threat?

Nikolas: I saw how terrified Esme was.

Alexis: She was terrified?

Nikolas: What would you have me do? Hmm? Let Sonny lean on an innocent girl who has done nothing wrong?

Alexis: My sweet, sweet Nikolas. Where do I begin? We are clearly talking about two different Esmes.

Nikolas: So it’s okay for Ava to believe in Trina, despite overwhelming evidence, but I’m wrong to suppose that Esme might deserve a second chance?

Alexis: We’ll get to that. Right now, I’ve come to talk about something else.

Nikolas: I am more than happy for a subject change.

Alexis: What’s going on here has nothing to do with Esme or — or — or Trina or Ava or anybody. It has to do with you and your cassadine DNA.

Nikolas: What about it?

Alexis: In the brief time that you knew your father, he was always trying to control you, and now you are doing the exact same thing.

Willow: Mom, I asked you a question. Do you know that guy?

Harmony: Who? The man who just passed? No [Sighs] I think I was just in his way. He said — he said, “pardon,” and just — he kept going. [ Scoffs ]

Carly: Harmony? I thought you left.

Carly: I did. Yeah, I’m supposed to meet Alexis here, but I-I think she’s late. You know what? I-I left my phone in the car, so I’m just gonna — I’m gonna go get it.

Carly: Hey. What’s going on?

Michael: I’d rather tell you in private.

NIna: Oh, no, let me — let me tell her, Michael. So, Carly, Michael and Willow refuse to compromise, so they leave me no choice. I hired a lawyer, Scott Baldwin — I’m sure you know him. We’re going to court so I can guarantee that I get to see Wiley as much as you do.

Carly: [ Mouths word ]

Trina: We don’t have to decide if Spencer’s gonna work at the gallery right this second.

Ava: Are you sure?

Trina: [ Breathes sharply ] I’m sure you should go home and go work things out with your husband. I’ll finish up here.

Ava: Oh, Trina. What would I do without you? [ Chuckles ]

Trina: Okay, go, and show Esme that she can’t come between you and your man.

[ Both chuckle ]

Nikolas: I appreciate your concern, but I am nothing like my father. If anything, I’ve bent over backwards not to repeat the same mistakes with my own son.

Alexis: How’s that working for you? Not that I’m judging. You sure about that? Yeah, I’m judging. And, you know, given the mistakes that I’ve made, I’m really in no position to do that.

Nikolas: Oh, don’t let that stop you. We cassadines are firm believers in double standards.

Alexis: It’s what we do. You are right about one thing.

Nikolas: [ Breathes sharply ] One whole thing? Ah, a banner day.

Alexis: You do not have your father’s cruel streak. What you have is an open wound where your childhood used to be. And forcing things on Spencer isn’t going to fix that. And the more you dig in, you’re going to drive him away and end up lonely and unlovable, just like your father.

[ Bell clanging in distance ]

Brendan: No wonder you like it here in Port Charles. You meet all kinds of interesting people… like NIna reeves and Willow Tait.

Harmony: I am begging you — please stay away from my daughter.

Brendan: Willow isn’t really your daughter — she only thinks she is. Poor NIna has no idea.

Harmony: Why can’t you just leave us alone?!

Brendan: More than happy to, if you play it smart and pay up.

Harmony: Don’t worry. You’ll get what’s coming to you.

Carly: So much for Wiley’s best interests, huh?

Nina: Having his grandmother — this grandmother — in his life is in Wiley’s best interests.

Carly: Wiley barely knows you. He doesn’t miss you. This petition is all about you. You want access to Wiley so you can fill some hole in your life, and Wiley’s interests be damned. But you know what? Have at it. Do your best. ‘Cause I am confident that Michael and Willow will have no trouble defending their rights as parents to exclude you from Wiley’s life.

Nina: Just like I was excluded from my own daughter’s life. You remember my daughter, don’t you, Carly? And I’m sure there’s a judge out there that will sympathize with that.

Michael: NIna.

Nina: [ Sighing ] Oh, God.

Michael: One last — and I mean last thing — whoever we get as a judge is going to get to know the real NIna Reeves.

Drew: Of course I made it! It’s an honor to be included. Oh, my goodness.

Portia: Hi.

Drew: Hi. Hi. What?!

Curtis: Hey, welcome to our new home.

Drew: I got to say, this is so beautiful. I’m a little jealous that I didn’t snatch it for myself.

Curtis: Hey, watch it.

[ Laughter ]

Portia: You’re just gonna have to settle for life at the Quartermaines’.

Drew: [ Laughs ] Yeah, but your place doesn’t come with nosy cousins, so…

Stella: [ Laughs ] Yes, Curtis and Portia will just have to settle for one nosy aunt instead.

Curtis: Well, remember, you said that, not me.

[ Laughter ]

Curtis: Drew, you remember aunt Stella.

Drew: Of course I do. It’s been a while, Ms. Henry. It’s really nice to see you.

Stella: You, too. I understand you’ve been through a lot since I saw you last.

Drew: Mm. Things are definitely improving. How’s everything at the hospital, TJ?

TJ: Hey, uh, you know, I was just regaling my family on the ins and outs of an ACL repair, so…

Drew: Yeah?

Stella: And I definitely want to hear more about it, especially the part where you may be closing in on a specialty.

Drew: There you go.

Stella: Excuse us.

TJ: I might.

[ Laughter ]

Drew: Alright, alright. Ahh, this is great, man. Hey. How’s Trina doing?

Curtis: Well, Portia and I are doing our best to support her. You know, Drew, those charges against her are insane. We’re gonna have to fight like hell until it’s over.

Drew: Yep. I’m sure it helps the people closest to her know the accusations are absolutely bogus.

Curtis: Unfortunately, the person Trina’s thinking about is the one person in her life that hasn’t realized that yet.

[ Sonny sighs ]

Spencer: I was just finishing up. Unless you had more to say about your lecture. You know, the company that I keep and all that.

Sonny: I said everything I needed to say.

Spencer: Fine.

Laura: I certainly hope you had nothing to do with this video of Josslyn and Cameron.

Esme: Of course I didn’t. Why won’t anyone believe me?

Nikolas: We just have to let the police investigation run its course. In the meantime, I’m keeping an open mind.

Laura: My son has extended his hospitality to you. I hope you won’t betray that trust.

Ava: We already know the answer to that.

Nikolas: Ava. You’re back.

Ava: Live and in person.

Nikolas: You made your position about sharing a roof with Esme quite clear last night.

Ava: Since then, I’ve come to realize that some things are more important than my feelings about Esme.

Nikolas: What’s that?

Ava: This is my damn house, too.

Johann: [ Sighs ] You wanted to see me?

Victor: Mm, yes. Johann, uh, I need you to keep an eye on things here in Port Charles for me for just a week or two.

Johann: Where are you going?

Victor: I have some business to attend to overseas.

Johann: You’re leaving town just as Kurt has been exposed? Doesn’t that look like you’re fleeing the country?

Victor: Well, unless, of course, that’s exactly what I am doing.

Anna: Hi, Valentin? It’s me. I’m just calling because the last time we spoke, you said that you were coming back to town shortly, and I just was wondering if that was still the plan. Could you call me maybe, or text? I-I just — I have some things that I need to update you on before you come back. Okay. Bye.

[ Knocking ]

Dante: Anna, hey.

Anna: Hi.

Dante: Thanks for coming.

Anna: Thank you. Sam, your messages sounded so urgent.

Sam: Yeah, I think we finally uncovered something that could prove that Luke was murdered.

Anna: Okay, you have my attention.

Sam: Ever since drew and I ran into Victor on the docks, I’ve had Spinelli monitoring the dark web.

Anna: What did he find?

Sam: We’re working with a theory that Victor’s interest in drew was somehow connected to Luke’s death. I-I don’t know. We’re trying to make sense of all of it right now.

Dante: We’re trying to connect the two crimes somehow. It can’t be a coincidence that Luke was murdered, Victor returns, and the Ice Princess was stolen.

Anna: Right. The overlap is too much of a coincidence.

Johann: What do you mean that’s what you’re doing?

Victor: I’m — I’m joking. Johann, I’m — I’m joking. Of course I’m not leaving town. No, far from it. Look, it’s legitimate business I have to take care of. I’ll be back before anyone knows I’ve even gone.

Johann: Mayor Collins, D.A. Scorpio, and Anna Devane all suspect we have something to do with the incident in Austria last December.

Victor: But of course we didn’t. And I have a hunch the authorities will soon find a much more credible suspect than either one of us.

Laura: Esme, let’s give Ava and Nikolas a few minutes alone to talk.

Ava: Thank you, Laura. We wouldn’t want to get the mother-to-be all worked up in her delicate condition, would we?

Esme: Turns out it was a false alarm. I’m not pregnant. But, um, Spence’s grandmother was right. No doubt you two have much to discuss.

Laura: Let’s go.

Esme: That was fast.

Spencer: Why are you in the foyer?

Laura: We’re giving your dad and Ava some privacy to talk.

Esme: Where were you?

Spencer: I was at the gym.

Esme: The gym? So that’s why you rushed out of here this morning? So you could get away from me?

Curtis: That’s the den.

Drew: Amazing.

Curtis: That’s the library.

Drew: Hey, have there been any more updates about Marshall?

Curtis: Uh, not since I, uh, found a hole in his story. You know, I asked Jordan to access some sealed arrest records, and she wasn’t going for it. I even reached out to Sonny Corinthos, see if he could use his resources to get the job done.

Drew: Well, I hope he turned you down.

Curtis: As a matter of fact, he did. Why do you make that sound like a good thing?

Drew: Well, not necessarily good. More neutral, I guess. But organized crime has been trying to make inroads since you own the club, right? It speaks well of Sonny that he turned you down. You don’t want to owe the mob any favors.

Curtis: Ms. Wu, there is no way I’m gonna allow illegal gambling in my nightclub.

Selina: It wouldn’t be illegal, nor would it be just any Friday night card game. We’re talking exclusive no-limits hold ’em where reputable players are vetted to ensure they meet the minimum bankroll.

Curtis: I’m quite sure The Savoy is not the only nightclub in town with a back room.

Selina: Well, those other places don’t have you, Mr. Ashford. You’re a well-respected man known for your integrity and with ties to the Police Commissioner.

Curtis: Um, yeah. Guess that’s probably best.

Selina: No frills. No distractions. The pungent musk of testosterone. Charming in its own way.

Sonny: What can I do for you, Selina?

Selina: I stopped by your office, but no one was there. I knew this place was right around the corner. So, I took a gamble that you’d be here.

Sonny: I’ve never, uh, took you for the gambling woman.

Selina: It has its time and its place.

Sonny: Is that one of the reasons that y-you want to see me?

Sonny: I like to keep certain aspects of my life private. This is my boxing gym… if you know what I mean. So if you want to make an appointment, we can have this conversation in my office.

Selina: I’m happy to reschedule, but on my end, the newly appointed Commissioner Ashford has been taking notice of my comings and goings. It might arouse suspicion if I were to stop by your office with any frequency. Here, I’m just a professional, potentially interested in a membership to attend a self-defense class.

Sonny: Make it quick, Selina.

Selina: My plan is to expand a fraction of my business in Port Charles. Gaming mainly, which doesn’t conflict with any of your business interest. I feel it’s been an underserved market since Luke Spencer moved away. I would start small once I’ve finalized the location, provided, of course, that I secure your blessing first.

Sonny: What if I say no?

Laura: Esme, I think you would be wise not to lose your temper, because it looks to me like you’re both going to be living here for a while.

Esme: Of course you’re on spence’s side.

Laura: No, I’m — I’m on the side of keeping the peace. I’m just saying, I think we all need to take a deep breath, step back from this moment a little bit, okay? In fact, why don’t you join Kevin and me for lunch? I think would be a good idea for you both to get out of the house while Nikolas and Ava talk.

Spencer: Thank you for the kind offer, Grandmother, but not today. I think that Esme and I have some things that we’d like to discuss, as well, right?

Esme: If you say so.

Laura: Okay. Well, if you change your minds, uh, you can always join me. Bye-bye, honey.

Spencer: Oh, I’m super gross, Grandmother. You don’t want to touch me.

Laura: [ Chuckling ] Okay. That’s very thoughtful of you.

Spencer: I love you.

Laura: I love you. Try to be kind to each other.

Spencer: Okay. See ya.

[ Door closes ]

Spencer: I left because I had a lot of thinking to do.

Esme: I suppose we both did. I mean, we’ve said some horrible things to each other over the last few weeks. Because you’ve been falling in love with another girl, or are you gonna keep denying it?

TJ: How are you?

Trina: I mean, I’m compartmentalizing. Yeah, nothing’s really happening with my case today, so I’m just staying focused in the present.

TJ: Mm.

Trina: I mean, it is a housewarming party, right?

TJ: Right, right.

Trina: That’s what I’m supposed to say. “Enjoying the house.” But really, I just want to scream, you know, that I’m framed and I’m innocent. I want to say that in person. I-I want to say it on Twitter, on TikTok, but I can’t say that because every time I do say I’m innocent, people think somehow I might still be guilty.

TJ: I get it. I was, uh… I got accused of doing something I did not do when I was about your age, actually, and it’s — it’s not to the same degree as what you’re facing, but I know how it feels to be wrongly accused and how being passionate about defending yourself could turn into this nonsensical feedback loop.

Trina: Thank you for saying that. It’s so strange to feel my life spiraling out of control when I didn’t do anything wrong.

Stella: You know, you and Curtis buying this house together really caught me by surprise. Back in my day, people didn’t move in together so quickly.

Portia: Really?

Stella: I-I’m not judging. Times change. And at my age, you learn you have to seize your happiness wherever you can find it.

Portia: Is that code for telling me maybe that you’re happy for us?

Stella: I’m just reiterating what I told you over the holidays. I misjudged the connection that you and Curtis have. Really, it was just me projecting my concerns over Curtis moving on too quickly after… he signed the divorce papers. And…

Portia: Stella. Are you okay?

Anna: It’s really interesting that you would make that connection because, uh, Laura, Robert, and myself, we do believe that the Ice Princess is connected to Victor’s return to town, and, uh, unfortunately, Luke’s death, most likely.

Dante: Well, according to my mother and — and Ned, Tracy was pretty blindsided when the WSB told her that her diamond was fake, that the real Ice Princess was swapped out before Luke was killed.

Sam: Well, the simplest of theories, Luke was killed to prevent him from catching on to the swap.

Dante: Right, but that doesn’t explain the theft in the first place. No one steals the Ice Princess so they can put it in their own collection on display. They steal it so they can sell it to someone else.

Anna: Yeah.

Sam: Unless they want to sell it for a whole lot of money.

Dante: That’s when Spinelli got a hit this morning.

Anna: Oh, yeah?

Sam: Yeah.

Anna: What is it?

Sam: The black market auction. The description pretty much speaks for itself.

Anna: Yeah. “What remains of what was once the largest uncut diamond in the world.” We found it.

Nikolas: You’re right. This is your home as much as it is mine, and that is why I am so glad you Came around to the idea of remaining here. Despite your reservations about Esme, you have to look at the bigger picture. I mean, whatever she may have done, she doesn’t deserve to be on the receiving end of Sonny’s wrath.

Ava: Oh, Nikolas, once again, you are listening with your heart instead of your ears.

Nikolas: How so?

Ava: I never said I’ve come around to anything. Esme is a liar and a cheat. She’s a conniving reptile who framed Trina, who’s practically a daughter to me. I will never be okay with Esme living here, but I’ll be damned if I let that off-brand sociopath drive me from my home and marriage.

Portia: Stella?

Stella: [ Sighs ] Sorry. I just got lost in thought. And I’m glad you didn’t listen to me when I was being overprotective of Curtis.

Portia: [ Chuckles ] Well, for what it’s worth, I certainly understand the impulse.

Stella: You’re scared for Trina.

Portia: Of course I am. I’m worried that her entire future will be completely destroyed, if not seriously tainted over something that she absolutely did not do.

Stella: [ Sighs ] I know as a parent, every fiber of your being wants to fix all her problems. But there’s just so much you can do, and that feeling of helplessness makes it all the more terrifying.

[ Doorbell rings ]

Stella: I thought you were keeping this small, just Drew and family. Who else did you invite?

Curtis: No one.

Selina: I must have gotten the wrong impression from our previous conversation. I thought that you were on board with cooperation between our two families.

Sonny: I’m all for the spirit of cooperation, but we — we were discussing access to the docks. You never once brought up bringing gambling to Port Charles.

Selina: It’s an area where our families’ interests don’t overlap. We wouldn’t be in competition, as you keep your gambling interests offshore. And as this is your territory, of course I would offer you a percentage of the profits.

Sonny: Alright, sounds reasonable, but, you know, my terms still stand. No drugs at all.

Selina: Understood.

Sonny: Yeah, and — and I’ll — I’ll let you know about my other terms. But let me just say one thing. If I find out that there’s any drugs or anybody dealing drugs during the games, I will shut it down. Alright? No second chances.

Selina: I agree to your terms. And I believe we have a deal.

Anna: This diamond that’s up for auction, it has to be the Ice Princess.

Dante: Right. So now we just got to figure out who’s selling Luke’s prized possession.

Sam: Maybe the same person that killed Luke.

Anna: And whoever that person is, I believe it’s gonna lead us right back to Victor.

Sam: We’re gonna have to prove that we have possession of the necessary funds before we’re able to make a bid. They’re not gonna give us the location of the auction.

Anna: Right, well, they do that partially because they want to weed out any law enforcement.

Dante: [ Scoffs ] Not much point in showing them our bank accounts anyway.

Anna: You know, when duke died, he — he left me a rather large sum of money, which I’ve always felt uncomfortable spending because of the ambiguous ways it was acquired. But I put some aside for Emma and Noah’s education, and then the rest I turned into cryptocurrency in case one day I’d have to investigate cyber-crimes.

Sam: Wow. I mean, that’s totally up to you. It does seem tailor-made, though.

Anna: Unless we meet the threshold, we’re not gonna be invited to this auction. And I can tell you the Ice Princess brings some rather unsavory characters out of the woodwork. We should do it. Yeah.

Sam: Yeah?

Anna: Yeah.

Sam: Okay. Thank you.

Jennifer: Well, I shouldn’t be here much longer, darling. No. I have very important business to attend to.

Curtis: Marshall, what, uh, brings you by?

Marshall: I heard you were having a housewarming to celebrate your new home. Did I get the wrong date?

TJ: I invited grandpa to join. You know, since it’s mainly a family gathering.

Curtis: Yeah, come on in.

Marshall: Thank you. Stella.

Stella: Marshall.

Spencer: My feelings for Trina are complicated.

Esme: So let me see if I have this straight. Your feelings for Trina are complicated. So you simplify things by believing the worst of me, which I guess would free you up to believe the best of Trina. But now what, Spence? You know I’m not the one responsible for that horrible video. Does that mean there’s a path forward for us? Or I could just leave Port Charles. I can just hope that my executor of my trust fund takes enough pity on me so that I can maybe, just maybe walk away with enough for a plane ticket and an apartment somewhere on the continent, because now that there’s no baby, there doesn’t seem to be anything keeping us together anymore.

Spencer: Esme, wait, please!

Portia: How are you doing? You feeling okay? You eating?

Trina: [ Sighs ] I’m embarrassed about what has me down the most. Which is? Joss and Cam think I’m innocent. You and dad know that I’m innocent. Ava does, too. And I’m even starting to get a feeling that Commissioner Ashford knows in her heart that I’m innocent.

Portia: Well, honey, that should make you feel more loved, more supported.

Trina: It does, but it’s like why can’t I stay focused on that? Why am I stuck on this one person who might think I’m guilty? The way Spencer looked at me in the interrogation room, it really hurt me when he asked if I was the one that betrayed Joss and Cam.

Portia: Honey, honey. Uh, part of growing up is learning the pain of putting your faith into someone that doesn’t give it back to you. Now, I know. I know that it hurts like hell. But it’s also going to teach you who your true friends are in this life.

Trina: It’s funny ’cause I don’t even think Spencer really believes that I’m guilty. I think he wants to believe it so that he can make his messed-up situation with Esme easier to accept. But that’s always been Spencer’s problem. He wants to do what’s right, but when it really matters, he does what’s easy.

Johann: I hope you keep looping me in. The more I know, the more I can help you.

Victor: That’s a very kind offer, Johann. But in this case, the less you know, the better. Oh, would you excuse me?

Laura: No. I’m meeting my husband for lunch. He’s just running a little late.

Victor: Well, since Dr. Collins is delayed, perhaps I can offer you a drink.

Laura: Hmm. I don’t think there’s a martini dry enough to make that offer enticing.

Victor: Ouch! Oh, that hurt.

Laura: By the way, I heard what you said to Spencer regarding Esme’s possible pregnancy. She’s not, by the way.

Victor: Oh, well, that is certainly a relief. But, uh, what exactly did I say to Spencer that upset you so much?

Laura: You offered to “handle it for him.”

Victor: Well, I’m sure you’ll agree that Spencer, while a fine young man, is hardly mature enough to raise a child on his own. Unless, of course, it’s okay with you that he and Esme are tied to each other for the rest of their lives.

JENNIFER: I know you don’t see the value in this auction that I am attending, my dear. Seems wasteful to spend the millions we’ve acquired thus far on something so extravagant. But this belonged to my dear late ex-husband, and though I am committed to moving on with my life, I do owe it to him and to myself to make sure that his most treasured possession stays with someone who cared so very deeply much about him. The Ice Princess simply belongs with me. I mean us.

Sam: We’re done. All we have to do is wait and see if we were admitted to the auction.

Dante: You okay, Anna?

Anna: Yeah. You know, Luke was so instrumental in bringing duke home, I’d like to think that wherever duke his, he’s smiling knowing that his estate is going to a good cause.

Dante: Hmm. You know, you’re putting up a fortune in crypto. Maybe before we go ahead, you should think about the fact this might not have anything to do with Luke’s death or Victor Cassadine. I mean, you said the inspector was some fanatical true believer of some cause, right?

Anna: Committed to the point of taking his own life. Whatever the inspector believed, he — he thought that his goals were noble and justified to orchestrate this horrible tram car crash that cost so many people their lives.

Sam: Well, the theft of the Ice Princess could have been motivated financially, don’t you think? And not politically?

Dante: Or they go hand in hand. Or maybe Victor was exploiting a true believer for his own cause. I mean, the sale of the Ice Princess could fund Victor’s belief or cause for a lifetime. Not that he let on to having a belief any higher than himself other than his family.

Anna: That we know of.

Marshall: Drew, I know I haven’t given you an answer about the position you offered me. Hope you don’t think I’m stringing you along.

Drew: Hmm. Do you mind me asking what the delay is about?

Marshall: Eh, the band picked up some more gigs, and I started to wonder if being a jazz concierge for Aurora might become a conflict of interest.

Drew: Oh.

Marshall: Last thing I want to do is keep the job from somebody else who might need it more than me.

Drew: Well, we’re still interviewing other candidates. Just keep me posted, okay?

Marshall. Will do.

Drew: Great. Excuse me, guys.

Marshall: You got some nice friends, Curtis. And a really nice partner. [ Laughs ]

Curtis: Yeah. Yeah. I’m a lucky man. In fact, Portia and I were thinking about taking a vacation.

Marshall: Mm.

Curtis: After we settled in the house. And, uh, I guess all that’s gonna have to wait until we get this situation with Trina resolved.

Marshall: You got to take care of your family, man. Got to put them first. Don’t make the mistake I did. So, uh, where were you planning on going?

Curtis: Portia’s always wanted to go to Buenos Aires.

Marshall: Hmm.

Curtis: Ever been there?

Marshall: [ Clears throat ] Ah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, I have. That was a long time ago. I’m sure the city’s changed a lot since I’ve been there. You know what? If you’ll excuse me a second, I got to check out that view.

Curtis: [ Sighs ]

Marshall: Oh, man.

Stella: What exactly do you think you’re doing?

Stella: You really think it’s wise to bepopping those pills so openly?

Marshall: Curtis is already aware of my heart medication. That’s all these are.

Stella: I had to wonder if there’s something else. You’d be taking a big chance that could make the truth come out.

Marshall: I wouldn’t do that, Stell.

Stella: Listen to me, Marshall. I’m in this way too deep to go back on my word to Irene now. And I need to know that this will not blow up in my face. My relationship with Curtis, with my family cannot be collateral damage.

Marshall: Stella, I appreciate all you’ve done for Curtis during my absence. But if anyone is his or TJ’s family, it’s me.

Selina: I was sorry to hear of your divorce from Carly.

Sonny: Don’t do that, Selina. We’re not gonna go there, I’ll tell you that.

Selina: Family is so important. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be a huge disappointment. I have a few in my own family whose loyalty leaves much to be desired. That is why our chosen families are so important.

Sonny: Alright, you know what? This is as good a segue as any. I’m gonna tell you myself, okay? I have found Jason’s successor. Brick is gonna be serving as second-in-command. He’s gonna be doing Jason’s day-to-day management.

Selina: I’m quite fond of him.

Sonny: Yeah. Mm-hmm.

Selina: This is good news. Especially given the rumblings that I’ve been hearing. No doubt you have, as well, about a new family that has been amassing power on the West Coast under the radar.

JENNIFER: Beyond the sentimental value of the ice princess, acquiring it will send a message to the entire underworld that we are a major force to be reckoned with, which will enable us to expedite our program and our operations at a much brisker pace than originally planned. We’ve already expanded through much of the west coast without drawing too much attention from the other families. If I win this auction, it will only be a matter of time before we can start moving east and strike right at the heart of Port Charles.

Anna: So, we placed Victor’s assistant, Johann, in Austria at the time of the tram car crash, and he has shown undying loyalty to Victor, far more than just a salary alone would justify.

Sam: Well, it depends on how big that salary is.

Dante: Maybe we got to figure out what’s near and dear to old Johann.

Anna: Yeah.

[ Computer beeps ]

Sam: Okay.

Anna: Well?

Sam: The crypto account passed the test. We’ve been invited to join the auction of the Ice Princess.

Laura: I don’t want to get into this with you, especially not in public.

Victor: Can you honestly fault me for trying to look out for a family member’s needs, hmm? For — for offering to take care of this problem?

Laura: I know all too well what it means for a Cassadine to handle a situation. I’d like something better for those two kids and for Nikolas.

Nikolas: So you haven’t had a change of heart?

Ava: No. But I will do whatever is necessary to protect those I care about. And that includes protecting you, my love, from your own worst instincts. And if anybody gets kicked to the curb, it’s gonna be Esme, not me.

Nikolas: Esme moving out isn’t an option since you decided to sic Sonny on her. You knew damn well what he’s capable of if he believes someone hurt his family.

Ava: Have you forgotten what I’m capable of? What you’re capable of? Or have you already rewritten our history into some sweet fairytale? You’re so much smarter than this. And honestly, it pains me to see you falling for “poor abandoned waif” act.

Nikolas: So is this you looking out for me and Trina, or is it you keeping your promise to my mother that you would look out for me because I’m so naive and I don’t know better? It’s so insulting.

Ava: Enough. We can go back and forth like this as much as we want. But really it comes down to this. As long as you are choosing to protect Esme, we will not be sharing a bed.

Nikolas: Is that an ultimatum?

Ava: What if it is?

Nikolas: Well, then I’d remind you I don’t respond well to ultimatums.

Sonny: Yeah, Brick mentioned something months ago about the rival family from the west coast. I haven’t heard anything since.

Selina: In my experience, people who can amass power under the radar do the most damage. They’re not our problem today, but one day, they will be.

Sonny: Well, I guess it’s — it’s a good idea that you and I are in, you know, the same corner.

Selina: You have my word that I will keep you in the loop with whatever I hear if you do the same.

Sonny: Deal.

Selina: Good. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Sonny: [ Scoffs ]

TJ: You got to get in closer.

Marshall: Alright.

TJ: There we go.

Portia: Oh, wait, aunt Stella. What are you doing? Get over here and get in this picture.

Ava: So that’s it? You won’t listen to reason.

Nikolas: Neither one of us is listening to reason. You’re ignoring evidence and you’re trusting your gut. And I’m trusting mine.

Ava: The way I see it, you’re trusting a girl who torched my car, who stalked and terrorized me. We all know how twisted Esme’s mind is. I trust Trina with all my heart.

Nikolas: I’m not saying Esme’s completely innocent. Far from it. But the evidence is pointing to Trina, not Esme.

Ava: Nikolas, evidence can be planted. We both know that.

Nikolas: Spencer wants to protect Esme. I want to stand by my son. Do not put me in a position where I have to choose you over my son. I’ve already done that once. It didn’t turn out well. Don’t back me into that corner again.

Ava: Well, we have nothing left to discuss.

Nikolas: So that’s it? Nothing has changed since last night? You Came all this way to tell me that you’re not moving back?

Ava: No. I said we won’t be sharing a bed as long as Esme is here. However, Wyndemere belongs to me, too. I’m not gonna let Esme take it away from me. And there are plenty of guest rooms and cottages on the property for me to stay in while I keep an eye on things. At least until you open yours.

Esme: Come on, Spence, let’s just rip off the band-aid and be done with this.

Spencer: I don’t want you to leave.

Esme: I don’t want to leave, but I don’t want to be roommates. I want to be us again.

Spencer: I’m not there yet. But if you stay, we can figure it out. One step at a time.

Victor: I also want more for Nikolas and Spencer, more than I was ever offered by my family.

Laura: If you’re going for sympathy now, you’re really wasting your time.

Victor: I know you think I’m heartless, Laura, but you’re mistaken. I care deeply about what the next generation is gonna have to endure. You and I both want to leave them a better world. We may differ on our methods, but surely our interests are aligned.

Laura: I may need that drink after all.

Victor: No, I-I mean it. I’m deadly serious, Laura. Just think about this possibility. Imagine a world where you and I stop being enemies, and instead we work together toward a common goal.

Brando: Ah, it was a short list, Dante.

Sonny: [ Laughs ]

Dante: So, what are you doing? That doesn’t exactly look like gym attire.

Brando: Yeah, no, I’m, uh — I’m actually heading to The Savoy. Big day for my wife.

Lucy: Well, now, now, we all looked great, but we also looked gorgeous and powerful and successful. Though I do admit I looked pretty spectacular ringing that bell.

Maxie: I think we looked even better flying home. How great was it one of our investors loaned us their private plane?

Brook Lynn: Unbelievable. Thank you so much, you guys, for including me on the trip and letting me stand up there with you guys when you rang the bell. You guys are a really big deal.

Maxie: We are a big deal. I know you’re not a partner, but nobody would know how fabulous deception is if it wasn’t for you.

Lucy: Exactly. That makes you invaluable.

Maxie: One of the many reasons.

Sasha: It’s been a rough year, ladies, but through it all, we stayed committed to Deception.

Maxie: And now we reap the rewards.

Ava: I stayed in town last night.

Scott: Oh. Is there trouble on Spoon Island?

Ava: Trouble with a capital “E.”

Spencer: Good morning. I was just about to bring this up to your room. How you feeling?

Esme: Tired.

Spencer: You want any breakfast?

Esme: No food. Just…coffee?

Spencer: The usual? Cream and two sugars?

Esme: It’s nice of you to still wait on me, especially now that we know I’m not pregnant after all.

Laura: You know, Finn, I just wanted to say that Elizabeth means a great deal to me, and I’m very glad that she has you in her life, especially with what she and the boys are going through right now.

Finn: Oh, I’m — I’m helping her as much as she’ll let me. Of course, Elizabeth’s first reaction is to try to do everything on her own.

Scott: The famous Esme?

Ava: Well, right now, at this very moment, Esme is likely propping her feet up on my furniture and nibbling your fancy frittatas. And best part — she may be nibbling for two.

Scott: Wait a minute. Are you saying that Esme is having a little baby Cassadine?

Laura: What? Oh, for the love of God, please tell me I’ve misheard you.

Esme: Spence, I have a confession to make.

Spencer: What’s that?

Esme: Last night, when the pregnancy test came up negative, I was worried you would kick me out.

Spencer: I told you that I wouldn’t. I know, but that was before we knew the truth, and then once we found out, I —

Esme: I guess I just got scared. Maybe this was a mistake. Maybe I should just leave and take my chances on the mainland with Sonny.

Nikolas: Why would you need to go anywhere?

Brando: Deception’s going public today, so they’re, um, you know, throwing a launch party at the savoy and gonna watch how the stock performs. The celebration’s all day. You — you two should stop in.

Dante: Wow, man, that — that is huge news.

Sonny: You — you must be proud of Sasha.

Brando: Yeah. Man, I, uh — I can’t tell you. And more than anything, I’m just happy to see something good happen for her after all that’s happened. Sasha deserves it.

Nina: Wow. This is an amazing party. How does it feel?

Sasha: Surreal. But good surreal.

Nina: Yeah? Well, get used to it because I have a feeling this is just the beginning.

Felicia: There she is.

Maxie: Hi.

Anna: Aww, so proud. Oh, my gosh.

Maxie: I didn’t do it all on my own.

Anna: Yeah, but no one else here is Felicia’s daughter.

Felicia: Or Anna’s goddaughter, so we don’t care about them quite as much.

Anna: No, taking a company public is a big deal.

Felicia: Yeah, you went from assistant at Crimson to an equity partnership in a company on the New York Stock Exchange. Maxie, I’m in awe.

Anna: Yeah, I’m British. We don’t do awe, but on this occasion —

Felicia: She’s awe. She’s awe.

Anna: [ Laughs ]

Maxie: Well, in that case, to awe.

Felicia: Cheers.

Curtis: Well, I’m honored that you chose The Savoy to launch your IPO.

Gladys: Mm. Well, now, we have a very select group. Uh, with the exception of Brando, almost all of our guests are here.

Brook Lynn: Why is Selina Wu crashing our event?

Gladys: She isn’t crashing. She’s on the list.

Selina: What an auspicious occasion.

Brook Lynn: Ms. Wu, what an honor. How is it that you’re here with us on the guest list?

Selina: All major investors were invited, so here I am.

Curtis: Are you saying that you bought a stake in deception?

Selina: Almost from the beginning. It only took a little patience. When I see a good investment, I go for it.

Laura: Are you saying that Esme is pregnant?

Ava: Mm, only a possibility. At least, that’s what I gathered before I walked out on Nikolas.

Laura: You walked out on Nikolas? What?

Ava: Well, I said either Esme had to go or I did. She’s there, and I’m here, so…

Laura: Oh, my god. What is he thinking?

Ava: I have no idea. But, please, feel free to get all the gory details from your son.

Laura: Believe me, I will.

Scott: I-I kinda almost feel sorry for Nikolas.

Ava: I don’t. Okay, so let’s discuss why I asked you here.

Scott: Okay, well, fire away.

Ava: As my lawyer, I need you to tell me… what am I entitled to if I walk away from my marriage?

Scott: [ Sighs ]

Nikolas: All things considered, you’re better off here.

Esme: Well, the thing is, it turns out I am not pregnant after all.

Nikolas: Well, I won’t tell you how to feel, but I do believe that’s for the best.

Esme: Since I’m no longer carrying Spence’s child, there really is no reason for me to stay.

Spencer: The invitation to stay here still stands.

Nikolas: Esme, I saw how rattled you were yesterday. You deserve to feel safe.

Esme: Thank you so much. I cannot tell you how terrifying that encounter with Sonny was. If you and your uncle victor hadn’t come along —

Nikolas: Well, we did. You’re safe. That’s all that matters.

Spencer: I’m not sure what Uncle Sonny’s intent was, Esme, but I would never let anyone hurt you.

Esme: Really? Despite everything, you still care enough to protect me?

Spencer: And I always will.

Finn: Hey, you okay?

Elizabeth: Yeah.

Finn: I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have left you alone last night.

Elizabeth: Don’t apologize. You deserve a nice dinner with your family.

Finn: Hey, you’re my family, too. All of you. Thank you for calling, Jake.

Jake: Thanks for coming.

Finn: So tell me what happened.

Elizabeth: [ Sighs ] It was the weirdest thing. Laura left, and I went to go upstairs. The lights went out. And I thought I saw someone.

Aiden: You saw who broke into our house?

Elizabeth: I only thought I did, ’cause the next thing I know, I was — it was morning, and I was speaking up on the couch.

Finn: Who do you think you saw?

Elizabeth: I couldn’t make out a face, but the person said, “Don’t forget me.” And then when I woke up, “Don’t forget me” was painted on a piece of artwork on the drafting table. It was still wet. Finn, what if they don’t catch this guy?

Aiden: Is there a way to check for fingerprints?

Jake: Or trace the type of paint?

Finn: Exactly. Smart boys. Alright, now that we have a lead, we need to call in reinforcements.

Sonny: Sasha’s been through a lot, but, you — you know, you deserve to be happy, too.

Brando: I am. I am. I-I mean, look, I-I know what people are saying, that Sasha and I eloped because we needed to distract ourselves from grieving our son.

Sonny: Right.

Brando: You know, m-my own mother thinks all this is too soon.

Sonny: Let me tell you something about your mother. Gladys has a lot of opinions, but the only ones that matter are yours and Sasha.

Brando: Yeah. You know, and for a while, I thought my mom was right, that Sasha and I wouldn’t have a future without Liam.

Sonny: Listen to me. Couples have cracked under a lot less.

Dante: And you know what? No one can tell how they’re gonna react when they’re faced with something unthinkable like that. And you guys have — you guys are there for each other. You’re getting each other through it. It’s great.

Sonny: You guys bring out each other’s strength. That’s a beautiful thing.

Brando: Yeah, I mean, I would love to think that, but, um, you know, Sasha, she’s strong all on her own. You know, at first, I was afraid that she was gonna be in denial, but it turns out I was wrong. Sasha’s just doing it her way.

Lucy: Ms. Wu, oh, we are just so pleased, um, to welcome you to the Deception family, a-and we’re just delighted that you are here today to share in our special celebration. [ Chuckles ]

Selina: The pleasure’s all mine, Ms. Coe.

Lucy: Oh, well, thank you so much. Um, if you will excuse us a minute, I’m gonna take my cohorts, and we’re going to go huddle and mingle. Uh, pardon us.

Curtis: Ms. Wu, you are full of surprises.

Selina: I told you before, call me Selina. And you shouldn’t be surprised that I have varied interests. My grandfather always told me, “Only an unwise farmer plants a single crop.”

Curtis: Your grandfather’s very insightful. In fact, last time you were here, you shared his favorite fable.

Selina: Mm, which begs the question — the money tree I gave you — is it flourishing?

Lucy: Okay, did anybody know that Ms. Wu was buying up shares of Deception?

Maxie: No, absolutely not. She must have invested under a shell corporation.

Brook Lynn: Well, now that the stock is being traded publicly, anyone who can afford it can buy in, including lady gangsters.

Maxie: Wow. You, like, always know the best thing to say.

Brook Lynn: Fine. Well, let’s look on the bright side. If the biggest surprise of the day is Ms. Wu being an investor, then the rest of the day should be pretty seamless.

Maxie: Speaking of surprises, I, um, have someone meeting me here.

Felicia: Oh, my god. Look. The stock is going up.

Anna: And up.

Brook Lynn: What?

[ Chuckles ]

Anna: That’s good.

Austin: Hey, big shot. You look nice. Thank you. Do me a favor. Don’t forget about all the little people who helped you on the way up.

Maxie: I’m sorry. Wait. Who are you?

Austin: Would you, uh… would you allow me to remind you?

Brando: Yeah. You know, Mike, uh — Mike — Mike really would’ve got a kick out of the fact that Sasha proposed to me.

Dante: She did?

Sonny: What?

Brando: Yeah.

Sonny: She did?

Brando: Yeah.

Sonny: You know what?

Dante: What?

Sonny: The way you and Sam are heading…

[ Cellphone rings ]

Sonny: …She’s gonna be proposing to you.

Dante: Oh.

[ Laughs ]

Dante: Look at that. That is literally saved by the bell. Falconeri.

Brando: Look, I got to head out, so, um, I am literally late for the party.

Sonny: Alright, tell everybody I said, you know… have a good time.

Brando: Yeah, will do.

Sonny: Yeah.

Brando: And, uh, Sonny, I-I know I tell you this all the time, but I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me.

Sonny: You’re my family.

Brando: It’s more than just being related, though. You’ve really been there for me, so if I can ever repay the favor, I’d be honored.

Sonny: Yeah, I’ll keep that in mind. Go. Your wife’s waiting.

Brando: Okay. I’m going. I’m going. I’ll see you all there?

Laura: Yeah, well, Sonny’s not the only one who thinks that Esme is responsible for that. Cam and Joss both think that Esme framed Trina Robinson. And then there’s your wife. Now, if Esme should be afraid of anyone, she should be afraid of Ava.

Nikolas: I’m sorry that Ava’s upset, but I won’t let anything happen to Esme.

Laura: Well, now that we know she’s not pregnant and they’re not a couple anymore, she doesn’t affect spencer, and she doesn’t need to be here.

Nikolas: I can’t leave her at Sonny’s mercy.

Laura: [ Sighs ] I seriously doubt that she’s in any real danger from Sonny Corinthos.

Nikolas: If I send Esme away and anything happens to her for any reason, Spencer will feel guilty for the rest of his life. Surely we don’t want that.

Laura: No, you’re right. We don’t want that. But we don’t want your wife to leave you, do we?

Nikolas: It was a rapidly evolving situation. When Spencer found out Esme might be pregnant, do you know who he confided in first?

Spencer: I don’t believe — I don’t believe that she did any of those things.

Sonny: Okay, well, let’s say it wasn’t Trina. Was it you?

Spencer: Oh, come on. You know that I would never do anything like that to her.

Sonny: Okay, then.

Spencer: Well, you should know that we’ve granted Esme sanctuary on Spoon Island to keep her safe — from you.

Sonny: You think I-I would hurt Esme?

Spencer: No, but she is afraid.

Sonny: Alright, what — what did she exactly say that went down between us?

Spencer: That if my father and uncle victor hadn’t shown up, she doesn’t know what would have happened.

Sonny: Okay, here’s what went down. I was just convincing her to own up to what she did. Victor and Nikolas came, and then she had all these waterworks. Like, it was, like, a bunch of crying and tears everywhere.

Spencer: I don’t think that you would ever physically harm Esme. Okay? I know that. And even if her fears are a little bit unwarranted, I can’t turn my back on her.

Elizabeth: He thought I would be angry if I found out. And truthfully, I’m furious, but not with Jake. My parents went behind my back, contacted him directly, without my knowledge, without my permission. Do you think I’m overreacting?

Laura: No. No. I think you have every right to be angry. You know, I’ve known Jeff for so long. I’ve just never understood why he and your mother don’t seem more interested in having a relationship with you and the boys.

Elizabeth: I’ve tried to come to terms with my parents’ choices. I mean, they’ve sacrificed a lot in pursuit of a higher calling. They’re worried about the world, just not about their daughter.

Terry: Okay, Mr. Cooper, I’m going to level with you. I do not trust you enough to let you advise patients. If I were to sign off on hiring you, and that is a massively big if, orderly’s the only job I’d consider.

Brad: Now, if you look at my old performance evaluations, you’ll see that when I ran the lab, I was consistently praised for my efficiency.

Terry: Well, lab tests take less time when you’re falsifying the results.

Brad: I made mistakes, and I’ve paid for them. I’ve served my time, and I-I’m ready to start over. And I was just hoping that, even with what you know about me, you might still believe in second chances.

Elizabeth: This all doesn’t sound petty to you? Like, “I know you’re saving orphans and refugees, but pay attention to me”?

[ Both chuckle ]

Laura: Honey, no. Look, I-I don’t want to minimize the good that Jeff and Carolyn are doing in the world, but I’ve seen it, you know? Every time your parents miss another milestone in your life, I see how much it hurts you. Weddings, births, deaths. You needed them to be there with you, and they weren’t.

Elizabeth: Thank you for saying that. And thank you for verifying that I’m not this awful, petty person I think I am.

Laura: No. Oh, my goodness. I understand your pain. I really do. But it worries me a little that holding on to all of this ill will, that could be hurting you now.

Chase: What the hell was that, dad? What was what? Why were you being so rude to Brook Lynn?

Gregory: Rude? How? By — by stating the facts? She admitted it was her fault you were suspended.

Chase: Okay. You want facts, Dad? I’ll give you facts. Fact — Brook Lynn was trying to pull one over on Valentin. But fact — Peter August is a very dangerous person, and Brook Lynn was risking her life for a child.

Gregory: That’s a bit of an exaggeration, don’t you think

Chase: He gladly would have killed her. Dad, he was the one who poisoned me. But Brook Lynn faced her fears and the wrath from Valentin and her family to keep Maxie’s little baby safe. And the whole time, she was falling for this little girl that she knew she would have to give back. So you want facts, Dad? There you go.

Gregory: Son, I have to ask… do you have feelings for Brook Lynn?

Chase: Brook Lynn and I are friends.

Gregory: That’s not what I asked.

Chase: Come on. You’re judging someone you don’t even know.

Finn: So, uh, sweetheart, what do you want to eat?

Violet: I want to know why Uncle Chase was yelling at Grandpa.

Selina: What do you know of my organization?

Britt: Only what I’ve read in the paper.

Selina: Brad looks to you for guidance.

Britt: We look to each other. We’re best friends.

Selina: Which means Brad will listen to you, and you will listen to me.

Britt: And why would I do that?

Esme: If it turns out that I am pregnant, then everything I thought about how my life would be just goes out the window. And if I’m not, I could have a mob boss after me.

Spencer: I can protect you from Sonny.

Esme: But only if I’m pregnant.

Spencer: That you can stay here at Wyndemere, no matter what the test says.

Esme: Do you mean it?

Nikolas: You sent Sonny after Esme? She’s just a kid.

Ava: That kid blew up my car. That kid thought nothing of using my dead daughter’s memory against me. That kid is a monster.

Nikolas: I know what she did, but —

Ava: But nothing! And I don’t want to hear about how she did it for Spencer. That girl is responsible for her choices and her actions, and now she’s responsible for humiliating Josslyn and Cameron and for trying to destroy Trina’s life.

Nikolas: Well, Trina will have a day in court. Sonny won’t give Esme the same courtesy.

Ava: Nikolas, I am telling you, it would never occur to Trina to make a sex tape of her friends, let alone send it to everybody at PCU. Whereas Esme has already proven she’s capable of anything.

Nikolas: If Esme is pregnant —

Ava: Oh, God! That is the oldest trick in the book. Please tell me you don’t believe that.

Nikolas: Esme isn’t claiming to be pregnant. She’s just late. What? Spencer and Esme are two college kids having sex. Are you saying there’s no possibility that Esme could be pregnant?

Ava: What I’m saying is, pregnant or not, I don’t want Esme in this house. And after what he’s done, I’m not so crazy about having Spencer here either, but he’s your son. Esme, on the other hand, has got to go. So, what’s it gonna be?

Nikolas: I’m sorry, Ava, but I’ve made my decision.

Spencer: Where’s the test?

Esme: It’s on the sink. It has to stay flat. If you move it, the results could be compromised. It says so right here.

Spencer: Fine. We’ll wait together, and we will look at the test together.

Brad: I’m ready to prove that I can be trustworthy again. Or at all. And if orderly’s the only option, then orderly it is. Alright? I’ll clean up after patients, push wheelchairs, do whatever it’s gonna take.

Terry: Well, Mr. Cooper, I have to say, you’ve made a better impression than I expected.

Brad: [ Chuckles ] Let’s hear it for low expectations.

Terry: I would have to check with Dr. Jones, make sure his ex-husband working here wouldn’t upset him.

Brad: Please tell Lucas I would do my utmost to make sure our paths don’t cross.

Terry: Well, those are all the questions I have.

Brad: Great. So…?

Terry: We’ll let you know.

Selina: So Faison took you into his confidence?

Britt: Not really. But there was a time we were closer.

Selina: I know. You traveled with Faison for several years before the authorities caught up with you in 2017.

Britt: I don’t particularly enjoy going down memory lane when it comes to my father. So what does this have to do with your mistaken belief that I’ll manipulate Brad for you?

Selina: Because I know what you and Cesar were doing in 2016.

Selina: You and your father were very busy in Lisbon back in 2016, weren’t you? Such a fascinating story. One the WSB and others closer to home would love to hear.

Britt: My father and I traveled all over. You’ll have to be more specific.

Selina: Mm. I don’t think I do.

Britt: You’re either bluffing or you’re fishing.

Selina: Maybe. But imagine for a moment that I’m doing neither. Imagine that I have all the proof I need to send you back to prison, for good this time.

Britt: What do you want?

Selina: I have plans for Bradley, and changing bedpans isn’t part of this. This is where you come in. You will keep Brad on the right path. The challenge, Dr. Westbourne, is that while you’re pulling Brad’s strings, he’ll never know that I’m pulling yours.

Amy: Look, you’re new at the hospital.

Terry: I have been here for four years.

Amy: Four years?

[ Both chuckle ]

Amy: Time really does fly, doesn’t it? Even so —

Terry: Nurse Driscoll. Hiring staff is my decision, not yours.

Amy: But you missed Brad at his worst —

Terry: Nurse Driscoll. Please get back to work.

Ava: I see. So we’re not even gonna talk about this?

Nikolas: Are you actually interested in talking? Because it sounds to me like you’re making demands.

Ava: If Esme is pregnant, and that’s a really big if, Sonny won’t hurt her. She’ll be fine. And if she’s lying again? Sayonara, Esme. Set her adrift in the launch, and if she makes it to shore, let Sonny do his worst.

Nikolas: I can’t believe that I’m hearing this.

Ava: What about my position on this should even remotely surprise you?

Nikolas: That you, of all people, would be sending Esme to her fate with Sonny.

Ava: Sonny sees the situation a lot more clearly than you do. Now, understand this. Either Esme goes, or I go. Fine.

Esme: Spence, if it’s negative, will you really let me stay here?

Spencer: I said that I would.

Sonny: [ Laughs ] I was hoping you’d say that.

Brick: So, how can I help you fill that void? You up for an adventure? San Juan, Hong Kong? Marrakesh?

Sonny: No, not adventure. Monica has declared Jason legally dead, so we’re all gonna be going to the memorial service.

Brick: May he rest in peace.

Sonny: Maybe Jason can, but I can’t. You remember… uh, Selina Wu?

Brick: I do.

Sonny: Right.

Brick: Formidable lady. She causing you trouble?

Sonny: She’s been giving me advice. Um, I’ve heard it many times.

Brick: What advice is this, exactly?

Sonny: I can’t run the business alone anymore, Brick. I need somebody else to step up and fill that hole that Jason left behind.

Alexis: Last time we saw each other was at Neil’s funeral. Not a very pleasant occasion, for many reasons.

Brendan: This is a celebration of Neil’s life. You stripped him of everything he considered worth living for. I do not want this service tainted with your presence. You’re not welcome.

Alexis: You made your feelings crystal clear. And if it’s any consolation, that moment was devastating to me and sent me into my own personal hell.

Brendan: I heard you lost your law license, hit the booze pretty hard, and didn’t stop until you attacked a cop and went to prison.

Alexis: Mm. Very flattered that you’ve kept up with my life. What do you want?

Nina: Listen, Willow just told you what she thought Michael wanted to hear. You know what you need to do? Get her alone.

Harmony: [ Sighs ]

Nina: She’ll change her mind and let me see Wiley.

Harmony: No, I’m sorry, Nina. Willow does not think it’s in Wiley’s best interest to have contact with you.

Nina: So Michael and Willow want a fight, do they? They’ll get a fight. Especially after my run-in with Carly earlier.

Harmony: What happened?

Nina: Well, I foolishly tried to talk to Carly about reaching a compromise with Wiley, but she wasn’t having it.

Harmony: Is she not just going through a rough patch, right? She got divorced from Sonny.

Nina: Carly filed for that divorce. She pushed it through basically overnight. She threw away Sonny with both hands.

Harmony: Just give her some time. Let, you know, Carly lick her wounds, give her time to heal.

Nina: If that ever happens. And then what, Harmony? Wiley will be in college, asking, “who’s Nina?” And he’ll never know who his birth mother is. If only I knew that Nelle was my daughter before she died. I could have saved her from herself. [ Voice breaking ] I know I could’ve. And I wouldn’t have to be begging for a chance to get to know my grandson or for him to know me.

Spencer: Right. That was today.

Esme: Do you wish you were there?

[ Liquid pouring ]

Esme: I didn’t ask what Trina wants.

Nikolas: Esme, do you want to drop your bags off in your bedroom? It’s the same one you were in last time you were here.

Spencer: Father, you can’t stop Esme from bringing up Trina. She’s obsessed.

Esme: Don’t I have reason to be? I mean, it doesn’t matter that there’s evidence that Trina posted that video of Joss and Cam. Sonny corinthos still believes it was me.

Nikolas: Which is why you’re at Wyndemere. It’s Spencer’s home. And it’s safe.

Esme: Is any place really safe from Sonny Corinthos?

Spencer: Uncle Sonny will do anything and everything to protect his family.

Esme: Protect them from me, you mean.

Spencer: I didn’t say that.

Nikolas: Why are you treating Esme this way when you invited her to stay here?

Spencer: I’m sorry, father, but she really pushes my buttons. The way that I’ve been known to push other people’s. By the way, is there a bomb shelter on the island?

ADA Arden: Your honor, this was a premeditated act that required a significant amount of planning. The defendant specifically targeted her friends with the intent to cause harm. The state asks that bail be set at $250,000.

Scott: Your honor, my client is a freshman in college. She’s not Lizzie Borden. She has ties to the community. She is innocent until proven guilty. She should be released without bond.

ADA Arden: If the defendant is released without posting significant bail and has access to a computer, she has the capacity to do significant harm. Who knows who else she’s taped?

Scott: You know, why don’t you save that for your closing statement, if you can get that far?

Judge Young: That will be enough, Mr. Baldwin. Ms. Arden, there is no indication that the defendant poses a threat to the community. Therefore, the defendant is released without bond.

[ Gavel bangs ]

Judge Young: Ms. Robinson, you’re free to go, pending a trial date to be determined.

Bailiff: Court is adjourned.

Portia: Oh, honey, I have never been prouder of you.

Trina: Thanks.

Ava: Oh, Trina, I’m just so proud of you for proclaiming your innocence.

Alexis: I wish that I knew about Neil’s addiction. I maybe could have helped. But he hid it from me, so I had no clue.

Brendan: Well, you’ve suffered enough. But look at you now — brand-new career, off the booze, respected, productive member of your community.

Alexis: Well, thank you for the compliment. You were really hostile to me at Neil’s funeral. So what is it with the sudden attitude adjustment?

Brendan: Oh, I’ve had some bad luck myself. Failed marriage, failed business. It’s taught me humility.

Alexis: And the need to make amends?

Brendan: Well, as two people who loved Neil, I hoped we could come to an understanding.

Harmony: I’m sorry, Nina, that nothing can bring back Wiley’s birth mother. But you have to know that Willow loves that little boy like he’s her own flesh and blood. And if you give it some time, maybe she can convince Michael to let you see your grandson.

Nina: How much time? This is the same woman that you told me who doesn’t think that I’m good for Wiley. I remember when she was “Ms. Tait,” and she taught my former stepdaughter Charlotte. I didn’t like her then. I should have trusted my instincts.

Harmony: Willow is highly principled.

Nina: Oh, please. I mean, she tells me that she’s going to help me. And then the next moment, she pulls a 180 and then sides with Michael. She doesn’t have a backbone. She only pretends that she’s compassionate. That “weeping Willow” is no oak.

Harmony: Just because she’s gentle doesn’t mean she’s weak.

Nina: I’m so sorry. I know that she’s your daughter. I’m just frustrated.

Nina: I mean, look how she has treated you, right? She’s barely spoken to you since you got out of prison.

Harmony: Things are much better between us now.

Brick: Hell, no. But I saw people seeing it. And I got to tell you, it took every bit of self-control I could muster for me not to take every one of them out. Please tell me you found out who did this.

Sonny: I know who’s responsible. I don’t have proof yet.

Brick: [ Sighs ]

Sonny: But I put them on notice.

Scott: Yeah, tell me about it, but she’s got a big fight ahead. Oh, hey, counselor, get used to the judge seeing things my way.

ADA Arden: Cybercrimes are insidious. The law’s still catching up. The fact is, whatever goes on the internet lives there forever. And your client taped her friends without their knowledge and put it up for the whole world to see.

Scott: Hey, Molly, tell your boss here —

Molly: You can address me as ADA Lansing-Davis.

Scott: Ohh, brother, okay. But y-you don’t really believe that Trina did it.

Molly: I believe that DA Scorpio offered a generous plea bargain. And it was your obligation, as Trina’s attorney, to advise her to take it.

ADA Arden: My associate’s right. You should have taken the deal. But you didn’t, so we’re going to trial. I’m gonna take a stand for everyone who’s ever had an intimate picture or video weaponized against them. Your client may have thought it was no big deal, but she was mistaken. And she’ll go to prison for the full term.

Trina: Thank you for being here, for standing by me.

Josslyn: That’s what friends do.

Trina: You took back the narrative when you told your story to the invader. Your courage made me realize that I don’t need to give in to cyberbullies, to Esme. The world needs to know I’m not the one who hurt you.

Scott: Okay, so, listen, we got to talk strategy.

Portia: Now? I-I mean, is that really necessary? Trina’s already been through so much today.

Scott: That ADA is out for blood.

Curtis: The judge hasn’t even set a trial date yet.

Curtis: Okay, I noticed that there were reporters outside in the corridor, and they’re gonna want a statement, which I don’t think any of us should be making.

Ava: Oh, I know my way around this courthouse. We can exit this way.

Portia: [ Chuckles ] Let’s go home.

Trina: [ Chuckles ]

Cameron: Joss?

Josslyn: If this were my mom, she would walk out of this courtroom with her head held high.

Cameron: But you’re not your mom, okay? You have nothing to prove.

Josslyn: Yeah, only to myself.

Trina: I mean, I liked it when it belonged to Joss’s dad. I like it even better now that it’s yours.

Curtis: Good memories?

Trina: Yeah. I mean, six months ago, our biggest problem was opening a jar of Sonny’s marinara sauce. [ Sighs ] Now everything’s changed.

Curtis: Well, now, you heard what the lawyer said. We’re gonna fight this.

Portia: We’re gonna fight this, and we’re gonna win.

Trina: I told Joss and Cam that their courage gave me courage. But your support helped me out a lot, too.

Curtis: Well, um, we can do a lot more than offer moral support. I could, um, find evidence to exonerate you. I haven’t forgotten how to find clues in dumpsters and garbage cans.

Portia: [ Chuckles ] Let’s just hope that it doesn’t come to that.

Trina: Yeah. I hate to admit it, but Spencer’s right. On one hand, there are tons of people who believe in me.

Curtis: And, uh — and on the other hand?

Trina: There’s evidence that proves I did it. Esme made sure of that.

Nikolas: Ava’s well aware of Sonny’s methods when he feels someone has crossed him or his family. She’ll understand the need to protect Esme.

Spencer: But will she understand why I’m sitting across from her at breakfast? [ Sniffles ]

Nikolas: Yeah. This isn’t a permanent arrangement. You know, if Trina is found guilty, even Sonny will have to accept the verdict and back off.

Spencer: Even if Uncle Sonny does, I don’t think that Ava will, because Ava loves Trina like a daughter, and she would happily throw Esme to the wolves if it means that Trina goes free.

Nikolas: And if Esme is carrying your child? Ava might not like it. She’ll make peace with it.

Spencer: And if Esme isn’t pregnant?

Nikolas: It’s all the more reason for you to find out.

Brick: So little Spencer has a girlfriend.

Sonny: Yeah, he’s not little anymore.

Brick: You always — you’ve always liked this kid.

Sonny: Well, you know, Spencer’s done some terrible things, but he’s known Josslyn since they were in kindergarten.

Brick: So the girlfriend is operating behind his back.

Sonny: Yeah. If we can prove that Trina is innocent and Esme is — is guilty, it won’t be just justice for Josslyn and Cameron. It will be a way for Spencer… to dump this girlfriend.

Brick: I know you’ve got your own people on it, but as always, if you need me…

Nina: No, this has nothing to do with Sonny. It’s just my go-between, she couldn’t really do anything because Willow is so besotted with Michael, she won’t stand up to him or Carly.

Scott: Well, why would she? Her mother couldn’t even stand up to a snake-oil salesman.

Nina: Okay.

Scott: Shiloh.

Nina: Alright, you’re not making this easy for me, are you? So can we just — can we sit down?

Scott: W-why should I? I mean, I kept you out of prison, and you turn your nose up to my legal expertise. So if you want my help now… I-I’m gonna have to hear you say it.

Brendan: My brother lost his life by getting involved with a self-destructive alcoholic.

Brendan: My brother was never a rich man, and funerals are expensive. You can deny it all you want, but you contributed to Neil’s death. You need to make things right.

Alexis: I will never stop wondering what happened to Neil, how he became an addict and how that addiction took his life. And I will tell you, I’m not at all satisfied that that’s the truth. But I will not be browbeaten into paying for his brother’s mistakes. And there’s nothing you can say that’s gonna change my mind.

Brendan: Are you sure about that?

Alexis: Harmony and I were just leaving, Brendan, so if you don’t mind…

Harmony: What was that all about?

Nina: I don’t need folksy, down-home charm. I need a fighter, a killer that’ll leave his opponents bloody on the field.

Scott: Ohh. That’s me. However, I’m a little busy right now with Trina Robinson.

Nina: Scott, I need your help, and I’m willing to put you on retainer immediately.

Scott: Before I take your money, I need to know that you’re gonna fight for Wiley. No matter what, you’re gonna fight. And if that means kicking Sonny to the curb, then you’re gonna do that.

Ava: I was hoping it would.

Cameron: Ms. Jerome, Joss and I, we can handle this.

Josslyn: We’re not interested in boosting your career.

Cameron: In other words, get lost.

Smoltz: Fine. Your loss. And your friend Trina’s.

[ Door slams ]

Josslyn: This wasn’t your fight.

Ava: Well, no, on the contrary. Avery would never forgive me if I didn’t stand up for her sister.

Cameron: That guy had one thing right. Trina’s in deep trouble until we can prove she’s innocent.

Josslyn: And Esme’s guilty.

Alexis: That was really weird. He shows up all sympathetic, not at all like the guy that heaped all this abuse on me at Neil’s funeral.

Harmony: Has something changed?

Alexis: Yeah, he thought this “Mr. Nice guy” act would convince me to help bail him out of his troubles. And when I refused, he went from Jekyll to Hyde. He thinks I owe him for causing Neil’s relapse that caused his death.

Harmony: Well [Sighs] It was a good thing that I walked in when I did. Just stay away from Neil’s brother. The farther the better, Alexis.

Nina: I understand.

Scott: Okay, then is there anything I need to know before I file this petition?

Nina: No, I mean, don’t faint, but I think my life is pretty much an open book at this point.

Scott: Really? No little secrets in your diary, skeletons in the closet?

Nina: No. I mean, Wiley is the only thing left of my daughter in this world. And I owe it to Nelle to be in his life. Whether Michael or saint Willow like it or not.

Trina: It’s one thing to plead not guilty, but now I have to live with that decision. That ADA is obviously out to get me. I couldn’t believe what she said — $250,000 bail.

Curtis: Um, well, honey, I do believe that she was just grandstanding. You know. Uh, the judge ignored her recommendation.

Trina: This time, but she thinks I’m guilty. And Scott said she’s out for blood. What if she convinces the jury that I am guilty?

Portia: That’s not going to happen. And instead of dwelling on it, why don’t you go on upstairs and take that nice long, hot bath that you were talking about earlier? It’ll make you feel better.

Trina: Okay. You talked me into it.

Portia: [ Chuckles ] Good. [ Voice breaking ] I don’t know how long I can keep this up. What if Trina’s right? We have no idea what’s gonna happen. I don’t know what I’m gonna do.

Curtis: Trina has a lot of people by her side, okay? And that daughter of yours, she has more courage than anyone I know.

Portia: And I don’t disagree with you. I-I-I do. I have faith in my daughter. Just not in the world.

Curtis: Baby…

Portia: [ Sniffles ]

Curtis: …As long as we have faith in each other, we can’t lose.

Josslyn: Actually, I think I want to go back to the dorm. What?

Cameron: It’s just Trina isn’t the only one being brave.

Josslyn: Oh, I’m not being brave. I just want things to go back to normal, if that’s even possible.

Cameron: And I will try to help make that happen.

Josslyn: Thank you.

Cameron: Come on, let’s go.

Josslyn: Actually, can we go out the front?

Cameron: Are you sure?

Josslyn: Yeah. I mean, if I can face a bunch of people on campus, I can face a couple reporters outside. It’s hard to believe that Trina’s gonna come back here and fight for her innocence.

Cameron: It doesn’t matter what Ava says. This is going to be tough.

Josslyn: Yeah, which is why we need to help Trina. We — we need to help find a piece of evidence that Esme framed her.

Cameron: Okay, but how do we pull that off?

Josslyn: [ Sighs ] By proving that Esme can be in two places at once. Well, come on. [ Sighs ]

Esme: I keep playing it over and over in my head. If you and Victor hadn’t shown up when you did, who knows what Sonny would have done to me.

Spencer: I still can’t believe that my uncle had you kidnapped.

Esme: Really? Because here I was betting you thought I deserved it.

Scott: So, here’s what happens today. You enter your plea. The ADA will recommend bail. Of course, I will argue against that as to why you should be free. Then the judge will decide whether or not there is bail and how much.

Trina: And my plea is “not guilty.”

Scott: Bingo.

Portia: Sounds easy enough, right?

Curtis: You’ll be out of here before you know it.

Alexis: Well, we’re trending. I mean, I knew this would do well locally, but the wires picked it up and it has gone national. I mean, it’s huge.

Josslyn: Did you see the article?

Cameron: It’s hard not to. I feel like it’s everywhere.

Josslyn: Yeah. That’s probably ‘cause it is. How do you feel about that?

Willow: We just do not want this to escalate.

Michael: Uh, yeah, for a lot of reasons. The main one being that my family had enough to deal with right now. Their focus should be on Josslyn. But I know we’re just worried that the charges could hurt us if Nina petitions for visitation.

Diane: Oh, they can. And they will.

Nina: [ Sighs ]

Maxie: Do you want to take a different class?

Nina: No.

Maxie: Are you sure?

Nina: I won’t be scared off, Maxie. Not by Carly or anyone else. Come on.

Maxie: Okay.

Carly: I hate that I run into Nina everywhere I go. It’s like that game at the carnival when you whack the mole and it pops up in another hole.

Spencer: Of course I don’t think that you deserve to be kidnapped.

Esme: I don’t know. Your track record of siding with other people lately over me lately is pretty strong.

Spencer: I love my Uncle Sonny, but do I always condone his actions? No.

Esme: [ Sighing ] He was so angry, and…threatening.

Nikolas: Well, considering he believes you took that video of Josslyn and Cameron, I’m not surprised.

Esme: What else has to happen for people to believe it wasn’t me? The police made an arrest.

Nikolas: Have you heard the latest?

Spencer: I went to see Trina at the PCPD.

Esme: [ Scoffs ] Of course you did. So while I was being hauled off by some goon to face the wrath of your beloved uncle, you were professing your undying devotion to Trina?

Spencer: Actually, that’s not what—

Esme: No, no, no. That’s just great, Spence. I hope you two are very happy tog–

Spencer: Esme.

Esme: What?!

Spencer: If you’d let me get a word in, you’d know I told Trina that I believe you.

Molly: Curtis. Hi.

Curtis: Molly. Hey. I, um—I was wondering if you were gonna be the ADA on this case.

Molly: Well, I’m–I’m working under ADA Arden, but yes.

Curtis: Mm.

Molly: I hope this isn’t too awkward, me prosecuting Portia’s daughter.

Curtis: No, you, uh – you’re doing your job. I get it.

Molly: Between you and me, I was surprised when I found out Trina was the defendant. She seems like such a good person.

Curtis: She is. That’s why I have faith that justice will prevail. I’m gonna get back in there. Good seeing you.

Molly: Yeah, of course. You too.

Curtis: Alright.

Molly: [ Sighs ]

Scott: So, I, uh, heard that there’s a possible plea deal coming. I spoke to my man in the DA’s office, but nothing’s been decided yet. Oh, damn.

ADA Arden: Mr. Baldwin.

Scott: Mr. Arden. Uh, what’s going on? I though Ms. Lansing-Davis was prosecuting this case.

ADA Arden: Yes, I’m sure you were counting on that. Molly is second chair on this trial. I’ll be prosecuting. Unless your client chooses to take the deal I’m about to offer.

[ Dramatic music ]

Nina: Hey! Why do you keep staring at them?

Maxie: Do you feel it? You could cut the tension in here with a knife. I’m very thankful we don’t have any of those, by the way, because the last thing we need right now are weapons.

Nina: Would you please try and relax?

Maxie: Well, that’s the idea. But this is beyond cringey.

Nina: For who?

Maxie: Me.

Nina: Oh, I am so sorry, Maxie. I’ve often thought about how difficult this is for you.

Maxie: Point taken. Okay. Change of topic.

Nina: Please.

Maxie: How is visitation going with Wiley? I’ve been so busy with the Deception IPO that I think I’ve lost track of what’s going on.

Nina: Well, my goal is to avoid involving the courts.

Maxie: Oh, so Michael and Willow are letting you visit with Wiley?

Nina: Not quite, but I may have found someone who can change that.

Alexis: Hi.

Harmony: HI. I hope you don’t mind that I just dropped by. Things felt a little unsettled this morning.

Alexis: Yeah, when you forgot to tell me that you had already been in my house indoctrinating my daughter.

Harmony: Yeah. Alexis, I’m so sorry for what I did to Kristina and—and for not telling you. Especially after you’ve been so kind to let me into your home. So, uh…if you want me to leave…

Alexis: I understand that your past has been problematic. But in the present, you need to be forthright from now on, okay?

Harmony: Okay.

Alexis: Because that way, it’s fine. You can stay in the house until you find someplace that’s right for you.

Harmony: I hope it won’t take that long. And as soon as I save up for a deposit, I’m gonna be out of your hair, I promise. Thank you.

Alexis: It’s a good thing I’m feeling generous today.

Harmony: [ Sighs ] I take it the article was a success?

Alexis: Actually, it was. I think I might be finding my groove back in my second act. I haven’t felt this good since before I fell off the wagon.

Harmony: I’m just so happy that, you know, it seems like your troubles are a thing of the past. Finally.

Alexis: And why do I have the feeling that yours aren’t?

Michael: I was defending my sister. Right? Do you really think a judge is gonna hold that against me?

Diane: Depends on the judge. But worrying about it at this juncture is premature. Nina has yet to file a petition for visitation.

Michael: I just – I want to be prepared in case she does.

Diane: Okay. Um…Nina’s counsel could use the assault charge to argue that Nina will provide a more stabilizing influence for Wiley.

Michael: What?

Diane: Considering that you are prone to punching reporters and defense attorneys.

Willow: Scott never pressed charges for that.

Michael: Right, and look, we – we have piles of evidence that proves that Nina is – is anything but stable.

Diane: Okay. Could also use it to impugn your character – casting Nina in an even more sympathetic light.

Michael: My character?

Diane: Mm-hmm.

Michael: Okay, Nina let everybody believe that my father was dead. What – What rational person would have sympathy for her after that?

Diane: Michael, Willow. This is all moot.

Willow: It is?

Diane: Mm-hmm. Because I have a plan to make it all go away.

Carly: [ Sighs ] It’s not working. Every time I close my eyes, I see Josslyn’s face.

Sam: You know, after you showed me that article, I reread it. And I am super impressed with Joss and Cam’s bravery.

Carly: Right? Me too. Yeah. And a lot of credit goes to your mom. Yeah, I mean, that article really struck a chord with people. It’s trending everywhere.

Sam: Is that a good thing?

Carly: Yes and no. I mean, it’s great because it’s telling Joss and Cam’s side of the story, but…

Sam: But so many people are reading Joss and Cam’s side of the story.

Carly: Yeah. I mean, it’s just shining a bigger spotlight on Josslyn and Cam, so when are they gonna be able to get back to their normal lives?

Sam: Have you talked to Joss about it?

Carly: She was asleep when I left for work this morning, but she texted me and she sounds great. She sounds strong.

Sam: Wow. Like mother, like daughter.

Carly: [ Chuckles ]

Sam: She’s gonna be okay, Carly.

Carly: She is.

Cameron: Is it just me, or does it feel like we’re living under a microscope?

Josslyn: Oh, it’s not just you. My phone’s been blowing up.

Cameron: Reporters asking for follow-up statements?

Josslyn: Oh, yeah. And I think I’ve decided to never leave the house again. Not until this whole thing dies down.

Cameron: I could say “I told you so”…

Josslyn: Oh, but you won’t?

Cameron: Look. This is exactly why I didn’t want to do the interview.

Josslyn: No, I still think that the good outweighs the bad. Oh, how’d that thing at school go? Did you get the issue resolved with the registrar?

Cameron: Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it was — it was weird to be back in public.

Josslyn: Yeah, I bet.

Cameron: All those people whispering and staring.

Josslyn: Oh, I made myself stop reading all comments on social media. It’s insane. I mean, after all of our transparency, people still think that they know our experience better than we do. It’s messed up.

Cameron: Yeah. There was a few good moments, though. Yeah, this, um — this girl came up to me on campus.

Josslyn: What girl? I need a name.

Cameron: [ Chuckles ] No, she — she said that she admired us for speaking out. Apparently, that makes me a feminist.

Josslyn: I did see a handful of comments saying they respected us for calling attention to the issue. Some women even said that they might want to share their stories.

Cameron: That’s really cool.

Josslyn: Yeah. [ Sighs ]

Cameron: So, I guess… …I’m not huge on the extra attention that we’ve been getting. But in the end, I think we made the right decision.

Josslyn: Well, I think it’s my turn to say “I told you so.”

Cameron: It’s still hard, okay?

Josslyn: Yes, I know. I know. But maybe if we just focus on the specks of positive and we try to ignore all or most of the negative, you know, things will get easier.

Cameron: Mm. I’m game.

Josslyn: I mean, now that the article’s out, there’s nothing really to brace ourselves for. You know? We took a lot of control back.

Cameron: [ Inhales deeply ] This will not define us for the rest of our lives.

Josslyn: We won’t let it.

Diane: We should try offering something to Smoltz in exchange for dropping the charges.

Michael: Like?

Diane: Like you or someone close to you providing information for one of his stories.

Michael: Yeah, I mean, I’d be down for that. Mm-hmm. As long as the piece isn’t damaging to my family.

Diane: Well, of course not. So, let me brainstorm with Alexis. We’ll see what bait we can dangle to Smoltz. I’ll be in touch.

Michael: Thanks, Diane. Look, I’m sorry.

Willow: Why?

Michael: [ Sighs ] For jeopardizing our ability to block Nina from Wiley.

Willow: You don’t know that, Michael.

Michael: Well, it’s a pretty good assumption.

Willow: And even if you have, there’s zero reason to apologize. I love that you stood up for Josslyn. The fact that you’re protective of your family is one of the things that made me fall for you.

Michael: One of the things? You’re saying there’s — there’s — there’s more?

Willow: Many.

Michael: Oh, yeah? I’d — I’d love to hear.

Willow: Oh, what, like a list?

Michael: Whatever form suits you.

Willow: Okay. How much time do you have?

Michael: For you? Forever.

Harmony: I’m gonna go see Willow and Michael, and I’ve been thinking a lot about Nina’s request.

Alexis: To — to convince Michael and Willow to allow her visitation.

Harmony: Yeah. I’ve decided to help her.

Alexis: And I advised you not to do that. So why — why are you entertaining that?

Harmony: [ Sighs ] I don’t know. I just — I… I just felt bad for Nina. She’s had so much loss, and — and if I can help her by being kind, I mean, shouldn’t I?

Alexis: That’s very generous. Not smart, but generous.

Harmony: [ Sighs ] I just don’t want Willow to hate me.

Alexis: Willow is not gonna hate you. She’s not gonna like it, but she’s not gonna hate you. This is not gonna tank your relationship with her.

Harmony: I hope you’re right.

Alexis: You need to have some faith in your daughter.

Harmony: Mm. Thanks for listening.

Alexis: Anytime.

Harmony: And, Alexis… I’m really happy for you that you’ve got your life back on track. It must feel good.

Esme: I…didn’t think you had it in you to stand up to Trina. And I’m glad you did, but I can’t forget all the horrible things you said, Spence.

Nikolas: It’s been a rough day. Maybe you should save this conversation for later, when everyone’s had a chance to regroup.

Esme: It’s no use, Mr. Cassadine. No matter how much time Spence takes, he’s made it clear that he’ll always believe the worst in me. Excuse me. I feel sick. Um…

Nikolas: You should try being a little gentler, given that she might be pregnant.

Spencer: How did you know that?

Nikolas: Victor told me. He’s worried about you — and Esme.

Spencer: You seem pretty concerned about Esme, too.

Nikolas: I’m more worried about you. Whatever else is between us, you’re my son, and I want to help you.

Spencer: Esme insisted that she was innocent. Swore that Trina wasn’t who she seemed. For so long, I trusted Esme over everyone else. I don’t know why I didn’t this time.

Nikolas: Well, that’s pretty obvious, isn’t it? You’ve developed feelings for Trina.

Scott: Well, let’s hear it. What’s the deal you have for my client?

Ada Arden: If Ms. Robinson pleads guilty to the misdemeanor charge of cyber sexual harassment, we’ll drop the felony charge of unlawful surveillance and we’ll recommend to the judge three years of probation with a fine of $1,000. This way, Trina avoids jail time.

Curtis: Um, there’s no guarantee that the judge won’t decide to give Trina jail time anyway.

ADA Arden: That’s the risk you take.

Trina: What do you think?

Scott: I think that the DA’s office can take this deal and shove it.

Molly: Trina, it’s a good deal. If you’re convicted of a felony, you could spend time in a higher-security prison. Not to mention, you’ll lose certain civil rights.

Scott: Okay. Okay. Now I need to confer with my client.

ADA Arden: Do it fast. DA Scorpio is being overly generous with this offer. It won’t be on the table for long.

Portia: Yeah, I don’t know about this. If Trina pleads guilty, it’s gonna be on her record for the rest of her life. And let’s not forget, she’s innocent. She did not do what she’s being accused of doing. Mr. Baldwin, that has to count for something, right?

Curtis: Of course it does.

Scott: Trina, it’s your decision. What do you want to do?

Trina: If I take the plea deal, I may not have to go to jail.

Portia: “May” — may being the operative word. I don’t like it. I don’t like it at all.

Curtis: I don’t like it, either. On the other hand, if the judge does sentence you to jail time, it would be a minimum-security prison.

Portia: Where she’ll be serving time for a crime that she didn’t do.

Curtis: I know.

Scott: Well, u-unfortunately, that’s not the way it works. She could be spending a year in Pentonville.

Portia: No. No. No way.

Trina: But if I plead not guilty and I’m found guilty for a felony, that’s even more jail time.

Scott: Well, that could be 2 to 5 years and/or probation, but time likely served in Pentonville.

Trina: Why’d you say to shove the deal?

Scott: Well, because that’s the way prosecutors work. They want to get a conviction. They don’t want to go to trial. It costs too much money and time, and they don’t know how the outcome is gonna be, so they start tacking on all these other charges. Then they present this shiny deal and it looks good in comparison. Now, I’ve seen all the evidence, and it’s not airtight, and I can almost guarantee you that the jury will come back with a “not guilty.”

Trina: “Almost.”

Scott: Well, that’s the rub, kid.

Curtis: Look, Trina. Let’s not think about this in terms of guarantees, okay? I want you to think about what you feel comfortable with and the outcome that you can live with.

Cameron: I can’t believe they found the phone in Trina’s backpack.

Josslyn: I don’t care what they found, because Trina would never do that to us. But I know somebody who would.

Cameron: Esme.

Josslyn: She’s good. She’s good. I’ll give her that. She framed Trina perfectly. Oh, I could — I could literally kill her.

Cameron: Please don’t. I cannot bear to have you serving jail time.

Josslyn: Can you imagine how scared Trina must be? She’s all by herself. She’s accused of something she didn’t do. The look on her face when they arrested her — I-I can’t get it out of my head, Cam.

Cameron: Isn’t her arraignment today? We should go.

Josslyn: Are — are you sure? I mean, there’ll be reporters everywhere.

Cameron: We can deal with that. Our friend is more important.

Josslyn: I’ll drive.

Willow: [ Yawns ]

Michael: I saw that.

Willow: Sorry. I was up late studying. [ Sighs ]

Michael: [ Groans lightly ] Come on. Are you, um — are you okay? If you need to go to get checked out, we can always reschedule with your mom.

Willow: [ Chuckles ] The only medicine I need is more iced tea.

Michael: Uh, and food.

Willow: Don’t worry. I learned my lesson. No more skipping meals for this girl. I am taking much better care of myself.

Michael: Okay, well, good, because I don’t know what I’d do if anything happened to you, so don’t make me find out.

Willow: I won’t. Hey, mom.

Harmony: Hi, sweetheart. Mm! Hey, Michael.

Michael: Hey. Look, I, uh — I just wanted to thank you for helping Willow out the other night. I-I’m grateful you were able to help her when I couldn’t.

Harmony: Yeah, of course. I would do anything for my daughter.

Sam: I’m in fear of Scout growing up.

Carly: It’s hard, right? I mean, you want to teach them to be mindful of all the dangers in the world, but at the same time, you want to encourage them to be open and fearless. It’s just… [ Sighs ]

Sam: I know, talk about walking a tightrope.

Carly: Totally.

Sam: I want Scout to be smart with her choices, but I don’t want to scare her.

Carly: You would think with all the progress that we’ve made, we wouldn’t have to worry about that. But just ask Josslyn. I mean, it’s like society has found new ways to be cruel.

Sam: Oh, well, if Scout can be half as tough as Joss… then I’ll be a happy mom.

Carly: Hey, you don’t have anything to worry about. And you’re a great mom.

Maxie: You asked Harmony to help you with Wiley?

Nina: Yeah. I mean, she’s Willow’s mother.

Maxie: Yeah, and from what I understand, not on the best terms with her.

Nina: No, but that’s changing. It is. Harmony and Willow are working on repairing their relationship.

Maxie: Okay, do you really think Harmony lobbying on your behalf is the best idea? It seems a bit risky to ask her to go against her own kid.

Nina: Yeah, Maxie, I’ve thought about all of that. But I am running out of options. If Harmony doesn’t come through for me, then I’m afraid my only choice is go the legal route.

Nikolas: You’re going through really complicated stuff. I mean, have you even had a chance to process what a pregnancy would mean?

Spencer: It means I would be a father. We do not know if Esme is even pregnant yet, okay? So…

Nikolas: Well, this is what I know. Esme is afraid and alone, and when I drove her back from Sonny’s office, she was shaking the whole time. And that can’t be good for a baby.

Spencer: If there is a baby. God, there’s just been so much hurt and distrust between us, right?

Nikolas: Yeah, I understand that, okay? And I’m not — I’m not even saying that you two should get back together. But I do think you need to find a way to navigate this.

Spencer: I’m open to suggestions.

Curtis: I know. But everything will be fine because she has you. And I am absolutely here for you in any way you need me.

Harmony: Well, do you think maybe Nina’s changed her mind about taking you to court? That she’s realized that being at odds with you is just not the best strategy?

Michael: Well, I’m not counting on it. Nina feels that it’s the only way to see Wiley. It’s just a matter of time.

Harmony: It’s so awful thinking about him in the middle of all this, his family fighting over him.

Willow: We hate it, too. And of course, we’ll shield him as much as possible.

Harmony: Yeah, but, you know, he’s growing up. He’s picking up on everything now.

Willow: Basically a human sponge.

Harmony: Who, if Nina is awarded visitation, he’s gonna be the one to feel the resentment between the people that he loves.

Michael: Yeah, well, that’s just, uh, something we’ll have to deal with as it comes.

Harmony: Or… or not, maybe. Listen, like, what — what if you granted Nina informal visitation and you could control the terms, and — and Wiley would be protected from all that fighting? What?

Michael: I don’t know. It sounds like you want Nina to see Wiley.

Willow: Do you?

Instructor: Okay, class is gonna start in just a few minutes, so make sure you have enough water. It’s gonna get hot in here.

Carly: Yeah.

Sam: Okay.

[ Laughter ]

Nina: Carly, uh… I-I heard about what Josslyn’s going through, and I’m really sorry. It’s horrible, but the good news is, Josslyn is tough, so if anyone can handle it, she can.

Maxie: That wasn’t terrible.

Nina: It was not terrible, was it? Hey, maybe there’s another way, huh? I haven’t tried talking to Carly about Wiley again.

Maxie: There’s a reason for that.

Nina: Well, I know my odds are not great, but for Wiley’s sake, I have to try to keep it out of the courts, right? I mean, what kind of grandmother would I be if I didn’t try everything?

Maxie: Okay. Just be careful. Everything is still so raw for Carly. You don’t want to make things worse.

Nina: Oh, and can things get worse?

Maxie: Yes.

Nina: Here I go.

Maxie: This is a bad idea.

Nina: Uh, Carly… wish me luck.

Trina: So, taking the deal and pleading guilty is probably my best chance of avoiding jail time.

Josslyn: But you’re not guilty.

Trina: I know. A-and the thought of saying I did this awful thing when I didn’t is just… and not to mention, a guilty verdict will be on my record forever.

Cameron: But if pleading guilty prevents you from doing any jail time, the people that matter know that you’re innocent.

Josslyn: I get that line of thinking. Okay, playing it safe.

Cameron: But you disagree?

Josslyn: Yeah. I think you should fight it.

Trina: Really?

Josslyn: Trina, you didn’t do it. And I’ll testify to that.

Cameron: Me, as well.

Trina: Thank you. But I-I don’t know how that’ll counter the evidence.

Josslyn: Planted evidence.

Trina: It’s still enough to convince some people. And if those people are on the jury…

Josslyn: Well, we’re here for you. Okay? No matter what you decide.

Officer: Time to head back in.

Cameron: You got this.

Bailiff: All rise. The honorable Judge Oliver young presiding.

Esme: You don’t have to act like you care.

Spencer: I do care. I want to make sure you’re okay.

Esme: My stomach’s not feeling so great. Um, I think I’ll just head back to my room at Kely’s. And hopefully this time, no one grabs me and shoves me in a car.

Nikolas: Sonny won’t bother you anymore.

Esme: You don’t know that. I-I mean, it’s not like he doesn’t have access to the rooms. His ex-mother-in-law owns the building. If Sonny wants me, he can get to me at any time.

Spencer: Father, would it be alright if Esme stayed at Wyndemere? I’ll move in, too.

Esme: Really? You would do that?

Spencer: That way, you won’t be alone. And we can figure out next steps. If you give the okay.

Diane: This is about your reporter, Smoltz.

Alexis: Smoltz is not my reporter.

Diane: Well, Smoltz does freelance for the invader, yes?

Alexis: From time to time.

Diane: I’m trying to entice him to drop the charges against Michael.

Alexis: Yeah, he came running over here to report about that incident.

Diane: Personally, I think Michael was justified.

Alexis: I’m sure he was.

Diane: Except he did punch the man, and he did it right in front of the police commissioner.

Alexis: So Michael’s best chances are, then, if the charges get dropped.

Diane: Precisely. So I’m thinking, is there something, is there some bait that we can dangle in front of Smoltz? Perhaps a juicy story for which either Michael or one of the Quartermaines could be the source.

Alexis: What I can tell you about our little friend is he’s got a big, huge ego and he’s very greedy. And he hates me because I rejected his version of Josslyn and Cameron’s story and gave it to a responsible reporter to handle it appropriately.

Diane: For which Josslyn and Cameron and their respective families, I’m sure, are eternally grateful.

Alexis: It’s also very unlikely that I can convince Smoltz of anything. I’m sorry.

Diane: Don’t be. Your instinct to deny that bottom-feeder the story was spot-on. I will simply have to think of a different strategy.

Alexis: You always do.

Diane: [ Chuckles ]

Harmony: I was just thinking about what’s best for the whole family, you know? No long, drawn-out court battle for you, and Wiley would just get another grandmother who loves him.

Willow: I’m sorry. I’m con– I’m confused. [ Scoffs ] You know the pain Nina inflicted on Wiley. On Wiley’s entire extended family.

Harmony: I understand.

Michael: I don’t — I don’t think you do, Harmony, ’cause how could you ever trust Nina again? Not only because of what she pulled with my father, but the things that she said to Wiley.

Willow: Mom, did Nina ask you to lobby on her behalf?

Harmony: Y-yes. Yeah. Nina approached me and asked me —

Willow: A-and you agreed?

Michael: I don’t believe this.

Willow: To try and co-opt my own mother…

Michael: Yeah, nothing’s too low for Nina, she’s proven that.

Willow: Did she actually think it would work? Did you?

Harmony: Oh, my loyalty is to you, Willow, not Nina.

Michael: That’s kind of questionable at this point.

Harmony: I’m sorry if you guys think that I acted otherwise. I just — she just — Nina got me thinking, you know, that what would be in the best interest for Wiley is that if you could just settle this amongst yourselves, that’s all.

Willow: I know what this is really about.

Carly: I am not chatting with you about my grandson…

Nina: Our grandson.

Carly: …As if you didn’t throw a huge grenade in our life.

Nina: Well, Carly, I was hoping that we could maybe work together when necessary, like we did with Gladys when she was upset about Sasha and Brando.

Carly: That was a very special circumstance.

Nina: No, it wasn’t that different than this. We found a way to coexist, right? Due to our shared concern for Sasha. Can’t we do the same for Wiley?

Carly: No.

Nina: We can’t put our personal problems aside for that little boy? Why not?

Carly: Oh. [ Scoffs ] Well, let’s see. Because Sasha’s life wasn’t turned upside down because you kept her grandfather from her family. So save your concern, because you didn’t have any when you lied to Sonny or when you made a scene at his funeral or when you told Wiley that Nelle was his real mommy. So stop, Nina. Leave me and my family alone.

Nina: You can’t deny that we share a grandson.

Carly: Oh, the way you denied that Sonny had a wife and children?

Nina: Wiley is the only part of my daughter left out there in the world. You will not keep me from him. I will be in his life. And I am sorry if you and Michael have a problem with that.

Carly: Oh, my god, look at you! You are such the victim. Acting as if Michael and I are the issue, that we did this. You did this to yourself.

Esme: Wait, I… I need to make sure that this is actually what you want, because if you’re not comfortable —

Spencer: It was my idea, remember? I wouldn’t have offered if I didn’t want to.

Esme: Okay.

Nikolas: [ Chuckles ] All eyes on me, huh?

Spencer: It is your home.

Nikolas: And I’m happy to share it. I think it’s what’s best for both of you right now.

Esme: Then it’s settled. Spence and I will move in.

Carly: You could have had a role in Wiley’s life. But at every turn, you made choices that put you at odds with Wiley’s family. So if you’re looking for someone to blame, go find a mirror.

Nina: It’s not about blame, Carly. It’s about this little boy. And nothing and no one will stop me from fighting for him.

Carly: Do you hear yourself? I mean, you’re not talking about Wiley like he’s a person with emotions and needs. You’re not even thinking about what’s best for Wiley. Maxie: Okay. I knew this was going to happen.

Carly: I hate her. I hate her. And I’m trying not to engage, but I hate Nina.

Sam: Stop. First of all, Nina is the one who engaged. You stuck up for yourself, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Carly: Yeah. Thank you.

Sam: And as an added bonus, you got Nina to leave. Now we get to breathe and relax and enjoy ourselves.

Carly: Huh. Well, that is a plus.

Willow: You have sympathy for Nina. And I get it. I’m sure it hits close to home, makes you think of all the time we lost.

Harmony: Yeah. Yes, it does. Um, you know, being separated from your child — I wouldn’t — I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Michael: But I mean, you — you do understand, though, that this situation is — is different.

Willow: I have thought about Nina’s perspective, mom, from pretty much every possible angle, but our first concern is what’s best for Wiley.

Michael: Yeah, and Nina isn’t it. But we — we can’t — we can’t reach an agreement with her.

Harmony: Understood. Truly. I won’t bring it up again. I’m sorry.

Willow: Don’t be. I had compassion for Nina, too. Once upon a time, at least.

Michael: Well, must be genetic. Chuckles ]

Dante: Oh! There he is. Hey. Good to have you back.

Chase: It’s good to be back in the squad room. I missed this place.

Dante: Did you? You’re not gonna cry, are you?

Chase: No, come on.

Dante: Ha. Do you want me to give you a minute with the desk? Get reacquainted? What’s going on? The suspension’s over? I-I-I’m not in the loop.

Chase: No, I’ve still got 54 days, 11 hours, and…33 minutes. But who’s counting? I’m only here because I volunteered to organize this year’s community softball league. I should be fully reinstated in time to play.

Dante: Oh, that’s nice of you. I mean, uh, we’ll be looking forward to having you back on the team and the force. And if it was up to me, you would have been reinstated just for what you did for helping out Maxie’s baby.

Chase: Oh, I just helped out a little bit at the end. Brook Lynn’s the real hero.

Lawyer: Everything is in order. All that’s left to do is take this to the stock exchange. I’ll be in touch.

Brando: [ Chuckles ] You mean that PB&J sandwich with stale bread didn’t do it for you?

Sasha: [ Laughs ]

Brando: Hmm. I guess that is the downside of having an extended honeymoon. No groceries.

Sasha: I can live with that.

Brando: Yeah, me too. You know, I-I really loved our time away, but it is nice to be back as husband and wife.

Sasha: I’m not ready to give up our honeymoon vibe yet. I love it when it’s just you and me.

Curtis: By one minute.

Portia: Hmm. Yeah. I just don’t know about this. What if he’s not the right fit for Trina? We have no idea.

Curtis: Baby, we’ll never know unless we talk to him. Now, Laura hooked us up, and she said he would know what to do, and I trust her. So let’s just give it a chance. And I know everything will work out. And I’m sure Trina’s in good hands.

[ Knock on door ]

Scott: Oh, hi. Sorry I’m late. The elevator was chock full of people. Hi, Curtis. Scott Baldwin at your service.

Trina: Did you just ask me why I did it? You know I didn’t!

Spencer: I was ready to believe that it was Esme.

Trina: You knew that I’m not capable of doing something like this.

Spencer: I thought so. But there is evidence. And it points to you.

Victor: Ah, Nikolas, glad I found you. We need to talk about Spencer.

Nikolas: Later. Did you see Esme outside?

Victor: Uh, as a matter of fact, I did. As I was pulling in, another car was pulling out. I saw Esme in the back seat.

Nikolas: Who was driving? Which way did they go?

Victor: Well, I-I couldn’t tell. I didn’t think it was unusual. Although, I must say, it did seem like an expensive ride-share for someone with such limited means. What — why are you worried?

Nikolas: I was asking Esme about the video and Spencer. She got really upset. She was keeping something from me. And then she told me that she needed air, but that she would be right back.

Victor: Well, perhaps she felt better and left.

Nikolas: But why? Why would she just take off without a word? I mean, she was obviously holding something back.

Victor: Well, that she most certainly is. Esme could be carrying the next Cassadine heir.

Sonny: Thank you for coming.

Esme: I didn’t have much of a choice.

Sonny: I’m — you know, I’m sorry about my — my associate. He’s — he’s kind of rough around the edges. He doesn’t come from the school of social graces. He’s kind of the — a man of action. I hope he didn’t frighten you.

Esme: Actually, he did.

Sonny: Well, that wasn’t my intention. I just wanted you to come here so we could chat.

Esme: I don’t know why you’d want to chat with me.

Sonny: Oh, I think you do.

Esme: Spence?

Sonny: This is about what you did to my stepdaughter Josslyn.

Maxie: Okay, we really need to finalize music selections and book the artists.

Lucy: Yep, and I happen to have some inspired live performance ideas.

Maxie: Where are we gonna get talent on such short notice?

Lucy: Uh, hello? Lucy Coe, mistress of ceremonies of The Nurses’ Ball.

Brook Lynn: Yeah, but this is the Deception IPO.

Lucy: Yeah, and I happen to be senior equity partner of Deception, and I am just going to ask all the people that I asked to sing for The Nurses’ Ball to sing for our company. Okay? Starting with Amy and Chase.

Brook Lynn: Yeah, about that —

Lucy: Listen, Amy will love it. You know, she is a sucker for the spotlight. So, did you get a chance to ask Chase to sing?

Brook Lynn: So the thing is that I —

Lucy: No, you’re not hearing me. We need him to sing. So why didn’t you nail him down when he happened to be by here the other day?

Brook Lynn: So…

[ Knock on door ]

Gladys: Am I interrupting anything? Are you guys still talking about the IPO?

Lucy: Uh. Yes on both questions.

Brook Lynn: Gladys, what do you want?

Gladys: Stock options. Especially now that Sasha is my daughter-in-law, I’d like to revisit having a personal stake in the company.

Lucy: Ha! Really? So, see, around here, we don’t hand out shares based on nepotism. Oh, you know what, though? If you want to prove your worth to our company, you know what you could do? You could go get us all lunch. And I would love a Caesar salad with lots and lots of little croutons. Brook Lynn needs me here.

Brook Lynn: Actually, I don’t. I’ll take a chicken pasta salad.

Maxie: Make that two.

Lucy: Okay. Two chicken pasta salads and that Caesar. Lots of little tiny croutons. Thank you. See you soon. Bye-bye. Ta.

[ Door closes ]

Lucy: Oh, good grief. Okay, enough of the distractions. We really, really have a million things to do, right? We — we got to get on this, and the first thing is, you have got to get Chase to sing. Go talk to him.

Brook Lynn: I’m sorry, guys, but the answer is no.

Dante: You know, I-I gotta hand it to Brook Lynn. I mean, I knew she could scheme with the best of them, but this is next-level-type stuff. She didn’t even get anything out of this.

Chase: Well, that’s what I mean. Brook Lynn went into it for the wrong reasons but wound up doing everything right.

Dante: Yeah. Who would have thought that faking a pregnancy would turn out to be a noble gesture?

Chase: She thought she was looking out for her family.

Dante: Yeah, I know, but t-that’s Brook Lynn for you right there. She’s a walking contradiction. I mean, I told you, we grew up together. As kids, she — she even then had this heart underneath all the selfish pranks she used to pull.

Chase: People grow up.

Dante: Well, hopefully she did. I mean, hopefully that’s — that’s what this is and not just a one-off. And then the real Brook Lynn, the old-school selfish Brook Lynn just comes back out again.

Chase: Well, you know what? Brook Lynn today is kind and caring, and I don’t like you talking about her like this.

Dante: Whoa. Whoa, where’s this coming from? You’re the one who told me you couldn’t trust her.

Brando: We are getting our food to go.

Sasha: Thanks, husband.

Brando: Ooh. I love it when you call me that.

Sasha: I love it when you call me you wife. So, we’re doing this?

Brando: Yes, definitely. And since no one knows we’re in town yet, we can just try and ease our way back into reality. Um, but there are a few things that we do need to talk about immediately now that we’re married.

Scott: So, let me say this. I-I’m sorry that this happened to Trina. I’ve reviewed the case, and, yeah, I-it’s a doozy.

Portia: My daughter didn’t do the things that she was charged with, Mr. Baldwin. And I know that people probably say that to you all the time, but she didn’t. She — she just could never. It’s not her.

Scott: Okay, so if you want me to say that I believe her, I do. I really do. So I got a guy in the DA’s office, so I know what the evidence is, and the burden of proof is on the prosecution. And this case is loaded with opportunities to cast reasonable doubt.

Spencer: The whole time you were trying to convince me that the sex tape was Esme’s fault, you had that phone with that video.

Trina: I’ve never seen that phone before. Someone set me up.

Spencer: You mean Esme?

Trina: That’s the only thing that makes sense.

Spencer: How did she do it?

Trina: I don’t know. How does she do half the stuff she’s done? She’s figured it out somehow.

Spencer: We weren’t at the cabin when that video was taken, but I was there long enough to know that you were really drunk and mad about Joss and Esme.

Trina: I don’t remember being mad at Joss.

Spencer: That’s exactly right. You don’t remember what you did or didn’t do. But Esme was next to me pretty much all the time. So when would she have had the time to frame you?

Trina: Are you really trying to accuse me of this?

Spencer: Look, I’m not judging you. I’ve done enough that I’m in no position to do that. I’m just trying to understand.

Trina: Understand this. I didn’t do it.

Spencer: I want to believe you.

Trina: Then why can’t you?!

Nikolas: Esme might be pregnant?

Victor: Yeah, Spencer said they don’t know for certain yet.

Nikolas: That would explain why she’s been so emotional. She’s dealing with a lot right now.

Victor: Yeah, I heard about the breakup.

Nikolas: Obviously, Spencer knows. How is he dealing with all of this?

Victor: Well, he’s pretty shaken up, as you can imagine. That’s why I came to find you. If Esme is indeed pregnant, then that baby will be a Cassadine. They’re both going to need our support.

Nikolas: Maybe we should talk about this some place more private. I’m just gonna call Esme and make sure she got back to Kelly’s all right.

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Victor: What do you got there?

Nikolas: This is Esme’s phone.

Esme: I haven’t done anything to Joss.

Sonny: You know what you did, and you’re gonna make it right.

Esme: W-wait, is this about that unfortunate video of Joss and cam?

Sonny: [ Snaps fingers ] Got it.

Esme: The PCPD arrested someone for that. It — it wasn’t me.

Sonny: You know, I have very good instincts, and they’re telling me that Trina Robinson wouldn’t do that.

Esme: You’ve never been wrong?

Sonny: Never. And your name is being tossed around a lot.

Esme: It’s no secret that Joss and I don’t get along, but I would never do that to her. Please. You have to believe me!

Sonny: Don’t do that. There’s no need for that. I called you here ’cause I want to know the truth.

Esme: I am telling the truth. What have I done to you that would make you think the worst of me?

Sonny: You don’t remember the hospital? When you lied to me?

Esme: If you mean the time I mistakenly told you that Nikolas and Ava were taking Avery out of the country —

Sonny: Yeah, that’s it.

Esme: That was a misunderstanding. One I regretted.

Sonny: Why? Because it led to the truth about what you did to Ava a-and Nikolas?

Esme: Because I didn’t mean for anything bad to happen to your daughter.

Sonny: Now you’re lying to my face. You and Spencer meant every horrible thing that was done to Ava. And then to reach your goals, you involved my daughter twice. Once with the — with the teddy bear. And the other time when — when you lied that Nikolas and Ava left with — with my daughter.

Esme: I mean, I regret the things that Spence and I did, but I-I apologized to you. Didn’t you forgive me?

Sonny: Yeah, I did.

Esme: But you didn’t forget.

Sonny: I have a long memory, especially when somebody hurts my family. And now you’ve hurt Josslyn. [ Whispering ] Let’s save everybody a lot of time. And just admit you were behind the sex tape.

Spencer: I believed you when it was your word against Esme’s. What you say means a lot to me. But now there is evidence.

Trina: Which was planted, because, like I keep telling you, Esme set me up.

Spencer: Esme and I have been through a lot.

Trina: Then you should know what she’s capable of.

Spencer: Yes, and I’ve seen the worst in her. But I was the instigator when she did those… things. She thought that she was helping me because she loved me.

Trina: See, the difference between me and Esme is that I would never… I could never intentionally hurt a person.

Spencer: You’ve done things for me you wouldn’t normally do. Like lie. If I stoked those impulses in Esme, maybe I did the same to you.

Chase: Okay, yeah, Brook Lynn has done some shady things, but people do change, and it’s hard when everyone keeps dredging up who they used to be. But I was there during some of the toughest times. She was taking heat from all sides, and I saw how it affected her. And she kept on protecting Bailey.

Dante: Aha. See, I was right. You — you do have feelings for her.

Chase: We went through something significant together. And I know that Brook Lynn is more than what you’re saying.

Dante: Hey, look, man, I didn’t mean anything by it. But that’s the beauty of a real friend, they see you for who you are, and they like you anyway.

Chase: Just give Brook Lynn a little more credit. That’s all I’m saying.

Brook Lynn: I can’t ask Chase to do the duet. I feel like I’d be taking advantage of our friendship.

Lucy: What? Wait a minute! This is the same guy who pretended to be a father who wasn’t a father all to help you protect Maxie’s baby. This — this is just a teeny, tiny little favor in comparison.

Maxie: Okay, wait, lucy. I see Brook Lynn’s point. We owe Chase for everything he’s done already. So let’s explore other options.

Lucy: What?! What good are friends if you can’t guilt them into singing for your company? Come on. I have guilted tons of people over my li– never mind. Never you mind. I give up for a moment. Maxie, I need you to talk some sense into yourself, then talk sense into this one. I need gummies! And I’m gonna go get them.

[ Door opens, closes ]

Brook Lynn: Thank you.

Maxie: Not a problem. Now that it’s just the two of us, what’s your deal? Do you not want Chase around?

Brook Lynn: That’s not it. It’s the exact opposite.

Sasha: What needs our attention? Should I be worried?

Brando: Well, I hope not. I just wanted to point out that we’re married and we don’t live together.

Sasha: Yeah, well, we should figure that out. But let’s just enjoy being married for now.

Brando: Okay. It’s not like we do things in the right order.

Sasha: Look, I-I know that our relationship has been a little unorthodox, but I’m happy where we are now.

Brando: Me too.

Sasha: So let’s just enjoy this feeling a little longer.

Gladys: Brando, you’re back! I missed you so much.

Brando: Mm-hmm.

Glady: [ Sighs ] Hello, Sasha. You’re looking well. If I’d known you were coming back, I would have asked for the day off from work.

Sasha: It’s probably best you didn’t. I’m sure deception is busy with the IPO.

Gladys: Oh, yes. Oh, oh. It’s all anyone is talking about. And since what’s Sasha’s is yours now, you’ll be living on easy street. You can retire early.

Brando: Ma, come on. I’m keeping the garage.

Gladys: Have it your way. But you’ll need somewhere to work on all the cars you’ll be collecting. But look, I got to put in this lunch order. Do not go anywhere. I want to hear all about the honeymoon.

Brando: Too late to make a run for it.

Sasha: So much for easing back into reality.

Victor: Are you sure that’s Esme’s phone?

Nikolas: I saw it earlier.

Victor: Well, perhaps she dropped it.

Nikolas: No, Esme would need her phone for the updates with the ride-share. She’d notice if she didn’t have it, and she would have come back for it by now.

Victor: Well, maybe she caught a ride with a friend.

Nikolas: No, Esme told me she doesn’t have any friends. She said everyone blames her for the sex tape.

Victor: Oh, yeah, I read about that. Carly Corinthos’ daughter, right?

Nikolas: Sonny? What about him?

Esme: He’s had it in for me ever since I stretched the truth about you and Ava leaving town with Avery.

Nikolas: We have to go.

Victor: Go where?

Nikolas: Sonny Corinthos has her.

Maxie: Explain, please. You want Chase around, but you don’t want him to sing at the IPO launch party because of Amy?

Brook Lynn: Because of me and my feelings.

Maxie: Oh, now we’re getting somewhere.

Brook Lynn: [ Sighs ]

Maxie: See, I knew something was going on because you were acting really weird around him the other day. This is why you hustled him out of here and didn’t want to talk to him about singing the duet.

Brook Lynn: Look, Chase has made it clear that he just wants to be friends, so I have to keep my distance until, you know, I can get a handle on my feelings, get back to the friend zone. So I really don’t want to be asking Chase for any favors right now. I don’t even want to see him at the launch party, to be honest.

Lucy: Chase! Just the man I wanted to see. Isn’t that funny how the cosmos works? You put the energy out there, and then there you are.

Gradys: Well, at least you had a nice honeymoon, considering you got married out of the blue. Um, and the rings aren’t bad, though I might have gone for something a little flashier.

Brando: I picked them out, and I was lucky to find a jewelry store nearby.

Gladys: Yeah. Yeah. Like buying that garage you got married in.

Brando: Ma.

Gladys: Listen, I gave you my blessing, and I meant it. Believe me, I only want what’s best for you both.

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Brando: Oh. I need to take this. I’ll be right back.

Gladys: Now that it’s just us girls, let me tell you how I really feel about this elopement.

Scott: I will have witnesses testifying to Trina’s stellar character and lack of motive. Cameron and Josslyn, I’ll get them. They should have significant sway.

Curtis: Okay. But first, I think we have to get through the arraignment. What’s that look like?

Scott: Well, it could go two ways. The best is that they waive bail because there’s no priors. The worst is they take it up a notch, you know, to a high profile because of Josslyn’s stepfather. But it still comes down to Trina’s character, which is really great. I mean, she at PCU, 4.0. She’s got a job. Teachers love her. You know, a lot of friends. And your reputation as Chief of Internal Medicine.

Portia: I see you’ve definitely done your homework, Mr. Baldwin.

Scott: I see Cameron as my grandson, so I would never represent anybody that would do this to him.

Curtis: Uh, well, we should get to the arraignment. Can’t be late.

Scott: Yeah, you’re right. Judges do not like it when you’re late. So I’ll see you there.

Curtis: Well, feel better about him?

Portia: We, uh… we better get going.

Curtis: Whoa, whoa. Hold up. Are you okay?

Portia: [ Voice breaking ] I will be. I will be after all of this is over. But it’s just — I just need to stay strong for Trina right now. [ Sighs ]

Curtis: Okay. Look, look, look. I know everything’s gonna be okay, all right? But I need you to know that whatever happens, I’ve got you.

Portia: Mm-hmm.

Trina: I knew you were self-centered, but this — this is next level. I may have gone against my instincts and my principles by covering for you, but that does not compare to making a sex tape of Joss and Cameron, my best friends, and posting it. I would never do that to anyone for any reason.

Spencer: But you were drunk, Trina, and you admitted to a lot of buried feelings about Joss and Cam being together.

Trina: How can you even consider that I did this? I had faith in you when everyone told me that you didn’t deserve it. All I had was a gut feeling that you were a good guy deep down. Where’s that good guy now? Was I wrong all along?

Spencer: It’s not that simple for me.

Trina: You know the truth in your heart. But you just don’t want to see it. You’re still blind to Esme — after everything she’s done.

Spencer: Everything she’s done has been for me and my family.

Maxie: Chase, it is so good to see you. What brings you by?

Chase: I’m following up with H.R. About the softball league to get the charity donation set up.

Maxie: Oh, man. They’re out today. Recruitment event.

Lucy: Yeah, but boy, oh, boy, are we glad you showed up.

Maxie: You know, Chase, on your way in, did you happen to see Gladys Corbin?

Chase: Uh, no.

Maxie: Typical Gladys. Lucy, why don’t we go to the restaurant and look for her? And if she’s not there, we can have a working lunch.

Lucy: Well, no, but I-I would really like to a–

Maxie: It’ll be great, and after, I’ll get you some gummies.

[ Door closes ]

Chase: What was that all about?

Brook Lynn: Oh. You know Lucy. She probably just wants to change the color of the softball jerseys or something.

Chase: Are you gonna play?

Brook Lynn: I haven’t really thought about it.

Chase: You should. Be fun seeing you around the diamond.

Brook Lynn: Yeah?

Chase: Yeah.

Brook Lynn: [ Sighs ] Actually, um… Lucy wants to get some singers to perform at the launch party. You remember that duet I wrote? I’d really love for you to sing it…with Amy. Plus, it’d be really fun to see you there. So what do you say?

Trina: What do you mean, your family? Your father? Because Esme sure hasn’t done a thing for Nikolas and Ava.

Spencer: I mean the Cassadines. My family. Esme is included in that.

Trina: How? By pushing her way into it?

Spencer: No, she’s a part of it now because she — because she might be carrying my child.

Trina: Esme might be pregnant with your baby? Hmm. That explains why you have to see the best in her. And the worst in me.

Spencer: Trina, you have to understand.

Trina: Here’s what I understand. From the moment I met you, my life has gotten worse. So many times, I looked the other direction when I shouldn’t have to protect you. And now I’m arrested because of your girlfriend’s lies! And you want me to understand? I understand that you should know me better than that. So if you can’t look me in my eyes and tell me you know I had nothing to do with this, then I’m done. I’m through! We have nothing left to say to each other.

Spencer: I, uh…

Trina: You should go check on Esme. You two deserve each other.

Spencer: Trina.

Trina: Leave!

Officer: Time to go. Come with me.

Sonny: Neither of us are going anywhere until you tell me the truth.

Esme: I have told you. I didn’t do it.

Sonny: Okay. You hungry? You want something to eat?

Esme: You can’t keep me here forever.

Sonny: You know, I’ve had my share of regrets. Um…choices I can’t take back. But it doesn’t define you. You can step up right now, take responsibility for your actions, make amends to the people who you have hurt, and just move forward.

Esme: Some things you can’t make up for.

Sonny: True. The people you’ve hurt are not obligated to, uh, forgive you. And sometimes you can’t make it right by them. But you know what? You keep working on that. You know why? To better yourself for you and the people that are going to come into your life. You’ve played games with Avery, Ava, and Nikolas. And now… you’ve hurt Josslyn and Cam. There’s a young woman sitting behind bars right now. You can make it right. All you gotta do… is confess.

Sonny’s Associate: Where do you think you’re going?

Nikolas: I need see to Sonny.

Sonny’s Associate: He’s busy.

Nikolas: Yeah, I’ll bet.

Victor: Hey, take your hands off my nephew.

Nikolas: Where is she?

Esme: Help me!

Sasha: I don’t expect you to understand why we eloped, but that is what felt right in the moment.

Gladys: That is my concern right there — “in the moment.” Marriage is a big step. You two went on that trip to deal with some pretty weighty issues in your relationship, and you came back married. Just doesn’t seem like you thought it through.

Dante: Trina’s in the interrogation room.

Portia: Oh, you really have some nerve showing up here after what that vile girlfriend of yours did to my daughter.

Chase: So, that’s why lucy was fawning over me. The last time that happened, I was in the men’s locker room just out of the shower.

Brook Lynn: What?

Chase: The first time that she recruited me for The Nurses’ Ball. She basically ambushed me. I had to say yes. It was the only way I could get dressed.

Brook Lynn: Right. Well, um, we all know what a great singer you are because of how great of a success you’ve been at the nurses’ ball.

Chase: Look, I’m — I’m flattered, but I’m not a performer. The only reason I sing at The Nurses’ Ball is ’cause it’s for charity.

Brook Lynn: Making people feel beautiful may not fit into the definition of charity, but it’s still worthwhile. Remember you even said that what we do here at Deception is interesting.

Chase: Look, my suspension is up in a few months. I kind of have to keep up appearances. Singing for — for charity, it’s — it’s one thing, but I don’t know how it would look to sing for a cosmetics company.

Brook Lynn: It’s fine. I get it. You have an image to maintain. You don’t fit into my world.

Sasha: Our decision to get married was spur of the moment. But Brando and I talked it through, and we know that it’s the right decision. I love Brando so much more than I thought was possible. You raised a good son, Gladys, and I promise you I am gonna make him happy. I can already see being married to you makes Brando happy. I just don’t want him getting hurt. And I can’t deny we’ve had issues. But he means everything to me.

Brando: Look who I found.

Lucy: There she is — a married lady. Congratulations.

Sasha: Thank you.

Lucy: Oh, I’m so happy.

Maxie: Yeah, I should be mad at you for not letting me plan your wedding, but I’m just to happy for you.

Sasha: Oh, thank you. We’re pretty happy ourselves.

Lucy: Mm, I bet. Hey, listen, the launch party is on track. But after we celebrate the IPO and Deception’s fabulous future, we are gonna throw another fabulous, big, huge party for both of you.

Maxie: Yes! A “happy marriage” party. We’ll go all out. Everyone will be there.

Gladys: Now we’re talking.

Brando: Thank you guys so much. That’s very generous.

Sasha: Totally not necessary.

Maxi: Nonsense. Getting married is a big deal. It deserves to be celebrated properly.

Sasha: But we are already married.

Lucy: So who cares? It’ll be great.

Brando: Yeah. I’ll take any excuse to celebrate my beautiful new wife.

Sasha: Well, when you put it like that, how can I say no?

Dante: Are we gonna have a problem here, Spencer?

Spencer: No, sir.

Dante: Good. Do you want to go see Trina now?

Curtis: Portia?

Portia: Yeah, I’m fine. I don’t have time to deal with you today ’cause my daughter needs me.

Curtis: Let’s go. I’ll, uh… I’ll give you a minute.

Portia: Okay.

Dante: Uh, you know what, Spencer? On second thought, there’s nothing really for you to do here. In fact, I think you’d be making things worse. So why don’t you help out Trina and her mom and get out of here?

Portia: Oh, baby, I’m sorry you’re going through this.

[ Door closes ]

Portia: But I want you to remember that you’re gonna be home in just a little while. And Scott Baldwin is your lawyer. He believes in you. He believes in your case. And when you walk into that courtroom, I want you to walk up there with your chin up. You hear me? And your head held high.

Trina: [ Voice breaking ] I didn’t do it, mom.

Portia: Oh, baby, I know you didn’t. The truth is gonna come out.

Nikolas: Esme! Sonny, you let her go!

Esme: [ Sobbing ]

Nikolas: Are you okay? Esme, are you okay? Sonny, what the hell?

Sonny: We were just talking. Esme, if you want to say anything, you know where to find me.

Nikolas: That’s enough, Sonny.

Sonny: [ Chuckles ] Okay. We’re done.

Victor: Oh, I don’t think so. You and I are just getting started.

Lucy: Once deception is officially public, we are gonna focus all our time and attention on a great, big, wonderful wedding party. Oh, wow, I just realized folks are gonna flip out when they find out the face of deception is married.

Maxie: Are you okay?

Sasha: [ Sighs ] Just a long day of traveling.

Maxie: Are you sure? I’m fine, yeah. I — I’m fantastic. I have the perfect husband, super thoughtful friends. Why don’t you guys catch me up on the IPO? I missed so much. Okay. Have a seat.

Lucy: Yeah, yeah. Thanks. Here you go.

Maxie: Thank you.

Brando: You’re welcome.

Sasha: Excuse me a moment.

Brando: Uh…

Gladys: She sure bolted out of here.

Brando: Yeah, I-I think you guys just surprised us. She’s probably a little overwhelmed with everything. But, uh, don’t worry. You know, Sasha can take care of herself.

Sasha: Siena, hi. It’s Sasha. Yeah. Yeah. I need something to get me through. How soon can you meet?

Chase: I-I really didn’t mean to imply anything negative about you or your job.

Brook Lynn: No, it’s fine. I understand where you’re coming from. You’re — you’re a cop, not a singer. You want to focus on getting off suspension and getting back out on the job. I get it.

Chase: So we’re good?

Brook Lynn: Yeah, of course. Look, I better get back to work. I promised Maxie that I’d run some of these numbers. Just shut the door on your way out, okay?

Chase: Okay. See ya.

Scott: We all set?

Dante: It’s time to go.

Curtis: How you holding up?

Trina: I’m okay. Thanks.

Curtis: You’re better than okay. You’re a champ. Now, come on, let’s go.

Nikolas: [ Sighs ] Are you sure you’re okay? Only because of you. I mean, you saved me. I can’t thank you enough.

---

Victor: I’m putting you on notice, Mr. Corinthos. Stay away from my family.

Sonny: Spencer is my family, too. And, uh, what happens to him or if anybody influences him in any way, it concerns me, especially if they’re coming after my family.

Victor: You’ve been warned.

Sonny: Really?

Victor: The Cassadines always come out on top one way or another. Keep harassing my family, and you’ll learn that the hard way.

Sonny: I have faced down men a lot more intimidating than you, and I’m still standing. So if you want to take the first shot, believe me, I will finish the fight.

Ava (to Joss and Cam): I know it’s difficult for you to trust me, but this time you’re gonna have to.
