[ Chuckles ] Morning. Hi. So, it’s, uh, re-negotiation time for the broadcast station retransmission fees, and it always goes down to the wire. So, uh, what’s your day looking like? Oh, same old, same old. Nothing as important or powerful as yours. You, uh — you were pretty quiet last night. You didn’t say a word before we went to bed. I’ve got a lot on my mind. Does any of it have to do with what happened to nina? Well, that was fast.

[ Sighs ] An overnight extradition to pennsylvania, and now here you are. You’re back, looking no worse for the wear. Well, looks can be deceiving. I’m exhausted.

[ Sighs ] Gutsy move, you know, showing your face here. Well, I can’t very well stay away from my own business. I thought I would just get a quick caffeine fix and then head in the office and see how many fires my arrest caused. Hmm. I’m so impressed that scott’s strategy worked, that they let you leave the state, although I did tell you that he can be fiendishly clever. Yes, you did tell me that, and I’m impressed, too. All I had to do was give them my passport. I’d say you got off pretty easy. Oh, ava, far from it. Sonny: Okay, here we go, darling. Cinnamon pancakes as you love cinnamon pancakes, right? Yes. Alright. You can put a little syrup, but don’t put too much, because lookit. Kristina’s taking you and donna out for trick-or-treating tonight, right? You’re gonna get a little sugar rush. [ Both laugh ] Hi. Hi. So good to see you. Alexis. Hey. I came as soon as I could. Is everything okay? I need to talk to you. I have some news for you, too, but you go first. What’s this about? Hayden barnes.

Well, dad, thank you for breakfast, and I hate to eat and run, but I have to meet trina at kelly’s for a study session. Wait, don’t the two of you live together? And since when did kelly’s become a study hall? Oh, cameron — cameron works there. That’s right. I forgot. Dad, please. A ton of people study at kelly’S. And change is good. We both have a very big exam next week. Mm-hmm. Getting an early start, huh? And I do mean early. Have you forgotten what halloween is like in college? We need our evenings free. Have you forgotten that I went to university in australia, and, um, halloween was considered an american influence that our culture was trying to battle? Oh, yet here you are, a venture capitalist having drip coffee with your american daughter. So I wonder who won that battle. Touché. You know, I’m glad that you’re not letting this whole thing with your mom and sonny get to you, especially after everything that went down last night. Well, I learned to compartmentalize early. I wasn’t gonna bring it up, but since you did, how are you doing with everything? I mean, I think nina got what she deserved, but…still, watching her be arrested last night, it must have been hard on you. So, have you heard anything more from the corinthos clan? I cannot believe that sonny stood by and let michael do that to you. I’m tempted to go and tell him what he can do with his offer to buy charlie’S. I’ll tell you that. Hey, hey. That is not necessary, but I appreciate the support. You let sonny buy charlie’s, okay? I have no choice but to let this play out.

[ Sighs ] Well, so much for our hope that the two of you could learn to coexist in peace. Willow: Having nina extradited to pennsylvania is part of it, but mostly, it’s about our breakdown in communication. B-breakdown in communication? That’s a — that’s a pretty big statement, don’t you think?

[ Sighs ] I just mean I thought we had a good talk the other night about nina. I went away thinking we were on the same page, but clearly, we’re not. Okay, well, we — we agreed not to do anything about nina and wiley while tensions were high, so I didn’T. You convinced the D.A. Of llantano county to have nina arrested. Wait, hold on a second. I’m — I’m confused here. Didn’t — didn’t you agree that what nina did was wrong? Yes! 100%! Especially after you told me the confusion it’s caused for avery and donna. I’m not opposed to pursuing legal action against nina. If that’s what the family decides, I’d support it. So…what’s the problem? The problem is you weren’t honest with me, michael. I’m sorry if I startled you. I’m just as bad as those kids who walk and text or — or tweet. I’m sorry.

[ Chuckles ] It’s quite — quite alright. Uh, I suppose I’m a little jumpy, in the spirit of the holiday.

[ Laughs ] Right. Is that a map you have? Yes, it is. Mm.

[ Chuckles ] In fact, I probably look like one of those throwback tourists, don’t I?

[ Both laugh ] Maybe I could pretend this is my costume in, uh, what did you say — in the spirit of the holiday.

[ Chuckles ] Are you from, uh, out of town? Yeah, yeah. I’m just, uh — just checking up on family. You know, I was looking for the chuck. Is it nearby? It is, actually, but I happen to know that it’s closed today. Oh. I’m a member, so… wow.Are you an art lover? Yes. Yes, I am. Mm. And, you know, in fact, I appreciate all forms of art. I just read about a relatively new music venue. It’s called the — the — what —

[ Snaps fingers ] The savoy. Do you know it? You lost someone? I’m sorry. That’s got to be hard. Terrible choice of words. I meant that guy that vanished from the exam room the other night. So, I asked around the hospital. The volunteer meeting he said he was there for wasn’t real. I think I spooked him when I asked him to provide identification. I think I freaked him out. Tj, no, man, look. There could have been a number of reasons why he took off. Hell, I don’t know. Maybe he was undocumented, or maybe he was just trying to get a prescription for some drugs. Yeah, I-I thought about that, but it just — it wasn’t the vibe I got. Something about that encounter felt almost personal.

[ Sighs ] That’s because you’re an empathetic doctor. It is your superpower.

[ Sighs ] No, I’m serious, man. So, on the positive side — thank you. Yeah. On the positive side, you get two days off to just let it go. And, uh, correct me if I’m wrong, but two consecutive days off, that’s like luxury for a first-year intern, right? Oh, it definitely is. And I do plan to live my best life. As a matter of fact, what are you doing tonight and tomorrow?

[ Laughs ] Tj. Uh, you’re off. I’m not. But forget about me. What about molly? I’m sure she would appreciate seeing more of you now that you have time off. Molly’s fine. She’s catching up with shawn right now. Shawn. Huh, okay. So is that what all this was about? Oh, my gosh. It’s been too long. I know. Well, hey, you are the one who’s been in town for months and didn’t bother reaching out to your cousin. Well, molly, they have this new thing. It’s called texting, and it totally works both ways. And look at you, all grown up. Yeah. And a working man, I see. Yeah, you know, I’ve come a long way from the son who could get his father to do anything for him. Um, god, it’s been years since I’ve seen you. I — you know, I’ve been away, and you’ve been away. Yeah. Well, you know what I mean. I’m — we’re both back now, so that’s good. From what I’ve heard, you should be focused on your own legal issues. Right. You’re at the D.A.’S office. Yes. And I have had to recuse myself from your case. Gotcha. Well, no hard feelings. I-I know you and shawn were looking into what happened to her, but why do you think I can help? You and I are close, right? And — and despite the last few years, I am hopeful that the nikolas that I love and that I trust and know is still operating in there somewhere. So I need you to tell me the truth. No lying, no dodging. Just be honest with me. Think long and hard before you go any further with this. True or false. You hired the hit man that shot hayden barnes.

I had a feeling this is where you were going, especially after that tense moment with shawn the other day. I hoped that I was wrong, that it was all in my head. But here we are. That’s not a denial, nikolas. Yeah, and it’s not an admission, either. And I’m insulted that you would think so little of me. That’s even less of a denial. I’ve known you since you were born. I know you better than almost anybody. And I said to myself, if I look you in the eye, I will know if you are telling me the truth. Please tell me that you did not allow a man to be locked up for six years of his life for a crime that you committed. Hope you don’t mind I roped you into breakfast. Oh, not a bit. I barely see you and tj at home. I enjoy spending time with my daughter-in-law of sorts. Now, that an okay term to use for domestic partners? Oh, sure. Yeah, especially the “in-law” part. Hey, say it with pride — assistant district attorney.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah. It’s a far cry from writing romance novels. Hey, don’t knock it. Hey, “love in maine” had chops. Now, I guess I can admit it to you now, but the notes you used to ask tj for were actually suggestions from me. Wha– he let you read my manuscript early? Ah, I used to volunteer writing articles for the armed forces newsletter. Now, I thought I was trying to help, but you didn’t need it. I mean, one read, and I found out we had a prodigy on our hands. A future best-selling author. Oh, that’s sweet. I mean, as much as I loved writing, I ended up finding a new way of expressing myself — trying to improve the justice system from the inside. But, you know, I am not the only one with, um, an appreciation for righteousness, am I? Aren’t you looking to make a difference, too? Michael: How was I dishonest? You agreed not to challenge nina about visiting wiley, because the whole time, you knew you were going to get the llantano D.A. To file criminal charges against her.

[ Sighs ] One has nothing to do with the other. No, willow, willow, the whole — the whole point of — of charging nina with identity fraud was — was so that it wouldn’t involve wiley. It solely has to do with what she did to my father. Okay, this is what I mean by dishonesty. Yeah, I’m sure you’re right about the legal tactic. But I’m also sure that you didn’t loop me in because you thought I wouldn’t approve. You didn’t ask me or the rest of the family. You took it on yourself to deal with nina, and you handled it. You’re right. I did. Sonny: What? What’d I tell you?

[ Carly laughs ] You got a lot of candy ahead of you, girl.

[ Both laugh ] But mama carly said I can’t have it until tomorrow. No, that’s not true. You can have a piece for how old you are, so you get six pieces. There you go. But the kit kats always disappear. Huh. I know where the kit kats go. You know what? Halloween is a magical night. Who knows where the kit kats go? It’s kind of like the socks in the laundry.

[ Chuckles ] So, you’re in a good mood, huh? Yeah. Well, it’s halloween. Right. And thanks to michael, I don’t have to run into nina at every turn. I accepted sonny’s offer before his family had you arrested. I’d be happy to hear a counteroffer. Oh, no, no. What’s done is done. Besides, I don’t want you turning the sale of charlie’s into a battleground. And you know what? If I want to make amends to phyllis, I can’t buy her forgiveness, can I? You cannot pay for absolution.

[ Sighs ] Oh, nina, take it easy on yourself, okay? And remember that there are always plenty of people in this world who will give you hell for your mistakes. I’m not one of them, though. Jax: Nina?

Just came in to get a quick, uh, cup of coffee. Why are you here? You were arrested last night and extradited to pennsylvania. Yes, I was. I made bail, and I was allowed to come home until the trial. That’s it? You stole sonny’s life for nine months and took him away from his family, and you’re finally arrested, but you don’t even have to spend the night in jail. Didn’t you say you had some studying to do with trina? And then you show up at my mother’s hotel acting like nothing’s happened? Joss. Fine. Um, jax, you don’t have to feel like you have to protect me from your daughter. She’s made it crystal-clear how she feels about me. Well, she’s her mother’s daughter. Yeah, she is. What can I say? Yeah. You know I can take it from carly. But josslyn, she broke my heart. I’m sorry. You know, we haven’t talked since the night of the fire, and we couldn’t really talk in the hearing room. Well, I’ve been keeping my distance, you know, especially since I figured out that you were keeping your, uh, true relationship with “mike” or sonny a secret. Well, sonny is not the man that I fell in love with. And he’s not the man that fell in love with me. It’s like you were honoring the letter of our conversation, but not the spirit. Yeah, yeah. I know. I just, I — I realized that I-I was doing that while you were saying it, and, uh, yeah, that wasn’t right.

[ Sighs ] I-I’m not thrilled by your strategy. But I’ll admit it’s effective. The D.A. Obviously thinks he can win the case, and the fact is, nina did commit the crime. If you had told me from the start, I would have had your back. But you didn’t even give me the chance. You just made a preemptive decision and went around me. No, you’re right. You’re right. Everyt– everything you’re saying is valid, and, uh, I’m sorry. No, I think — I think, uh, the last few relationships I’ve been in have made me more, uh, guarded than I realized. I should have looped you in. But at the same time, willow, I-I stand behind my actions. Nina needs to be held accountable — not for anything to do with wiley, but because of what she did to my family. I thought I was your family, too. Portia: Ah, the savoy. Yes, that is great.

[ Both chuckle ]If I do say so myself, I feel a little bit responsible for it coming into being. Really?

[ Laughs ] The owner is — he’s a good friend. Wow. A good friend? Really? Uh-huh. Really? Wow. You know, tell me this. I read that the owner never ran a club before. Is that true? I don’t remember there being any profiles on curtis when the club opened. Uh, where’d you read that? Uh, somewhere online, maybe. I don’t know. You know how that goes. Anyway, I’m just curious what made him jump into the — I mean, the — the nightclub business? You seem more interested in the club owner than the venue.

[ Both laugh ] Me? Nah. Nah, I’m just a — I’m just a people person. Okay. Um…you know, it’s been so nice speaking with you, but I do have to get going. Oh, yeah. Yeah, of course. [ Laughs ] Yeah. Thank you. Uncle, it’s okay if you’re too busy to hang. No, it’s, um — it’s not that. But I have noticed that all this extra time that we’ve been spending together, as much as I love it, I notice that it all started when shawn got released, came back to town. I don’t see what one has to do with the other. Well, tj, um, for six years, it’s been you, me, and your mother, and we were a family. And now your biological father’s in the picture. And I’m okay with that. But you don’t have to demonstrate that our relationship is now different. I’m not insecure in any way about your relationship with your father. In fact, I think it’s important, so I encourage that. And I know you and me, we’re rock solid. Always have been and always will be. We’re family. Nothing’s ever, ever gonna change that. Come here. You’ve been living with tj and me at my mom’s house for a few months now, and I always hear you talking to tj about wanting to find out what your next step in life should be. But when you and I talk, it’s — it’s nonstop news and current events and social justice issues. I mean, it — it’s clear that you’re passionate about these things, right? Maybe there’s a path in the social sphere that you should explore, somewhere where you can raise awareness to the issues that you care about. Like what, a-a podcast?

[ Chuckles ] I have no idea how to pod or cast. And I doubt my criminal record would support any kind of bid to become a public official. Not until I clear my name, anyway. How’s that going? Actually, there is a new lead to follow, but… it could send me down a path that’ll start a lot of trouble. Well, hey, whatever you decide, I am behind you. I trust you. Hmm.

[ Quietly ] Shawn butler is far from an innocent man. At the end of the day, he showed up to that location to kill drew cain. Do you remember drew? He’s the father of your granddaughter, scout. It’s only thanks to bad luck and worse aim that drew wasn’t hit by shawn. The salient point is that shawn didn’t shoot hayden. A hit man did, or a hit woman. But only you would know that, right? Because you hired that person. You had hayden shot, didn’t you? Alexis, don’T. If you keep pulling this thread, you are gonna make helping you impossible, especially now that I have secured your release.

The governor and i have gotten quite close ever since I dated his daughter, and I wanted to play this card at just the right time. Right time presented itself last night at a fundraiser we both attended, and I spent most of the evening championing your cause with him. What a fortuitous coincidence. I don’t suppose that had anything to do with our conversation the other night, did it? I reminded him of your role in exposing the corrupt judge carson, and I suggested that the state… show its appreciation by offering you a pardon. It’s incredible, right? The governor plans to issue you a complete pardon for your attack on detective falconeri, which is a little dicey for him — you stabbing a cop and all. But the governor, he’s prepared to take the hit as a personal favor to me. Now, of course… if I have to fend off groundless allegations that could tarnish my reputation, I mean, my political sway, it would simply… disappear. Along with your pardon. I had to come see for myself. And smirk?

[ Chuckles ] Um, yes. Watching you work at kelly’s is like watching the loch ness monster play the tuba. Ah. You know, you should — you should wear this as your halloween costume. You know, grandma bobbie loves when her employees dress up for halloween. Yep, you’re loving this. That, I am. I admit it. Great. Well, then, please enjoy my utter humiliation, but do it from across the room, okay? I’m not in the mood.

[ Sighs ] Spencer, there is nothing to be humiliated about. Okay? Actually, I-I’m quite impressed. You’re not relying on your family’s inheritance, and you’re making money on your own, and that’s admirable. You realize that all three of your parents are probably as rich as mine, right? Which makes me incredibly fortunate. And I try to never take that for granted. And, by the way, I never betrayed my parents’ trust or used a good friend and lied to her or committed several crimes and wind up awaiting trial. So, tell me more about spencer’s legal difficulties. Willow, that came out wrong. I didn’t mean that you’re not part of my family, because you are. You, me, and — and wiley? We’re a family together. I get it. It’s just… look, after our conversation about taking things slowly and that you’d be more comfortable with — with boundaries, I guess I just… look, we’re already living together. We’re sleeping together. We’re raising wiley together. It’s just hard to figure out where those boundaries are. Michael, you don’t have to explain. It’s hard to, I don’t know, find the line between moving too slowly, moving too quickly when we just — we’ve — we’ve been in love with each other for so long, and we finally get to be together.

[ Sighs ] I love you, too. Well, good. I’m, uh, very glad to hear it, because, clearly, I’m blowing it. Willow, I’m — I’m sorry for keeping you out of the decision-making process. I guess [Sighs] Maybe on some level, I was, uh… I was trying to leave you in the clear. But what about you? I just did what had to be done. And I always will to keep my loved ones safe. If you’re asking me if I’m gonna force you out, then no, I’m not gonna do that. You sure you don’t want to rethink that? You know it’s bad optics, having a convicted criminal at the helm. Oh, thank you. Well, you can’t run crimson from behind bars, that’s for sure. And it was a mistake to come back to port charles without consulting a lawyer first, who could have protected you and maybe prevented things from escalating further. There you go again, jax… trying to be my white knight. No. If this ordeal taught me anything, it taught me that you have to stop trying to save me. I’m a lost cause. Mommy! Hello! Hello. Uh, while I’ve got you, have you heard anything around the hospital about a patient of mine who skipped out before I could grab his I.D.? Oh, one of those. Um, no. But I’ll let you know if I do. Did he say or do anything fishy? Um, tj’s taking it a little personally. Maybe I am. The gentleman was so amiable, I can’t figure out why he would lie to me and then ghost. I mean, we hit it off. We were talking about life, family. Well, tj, you’ll find that working at the hospital, you’re gonna meet all kinds of people. He even asked a bunch of questions about you, uncle curtis. Me? Wait, w-what did this patient of yours look like? So nikolas wouldn’t even post bail? I thought he adored spencer and vice versa. Yeah, well, a lot has happened with those two since you’ve been around, starting with nikolas pretending to be dead for three years and ending with him marrying ava. Spencer feels ava double-crossed him when he was trying to get justice for nikolas, who, as it turned out, wasn’t actually dead. It’s a damn shame. Yeah, well, it all worked itself out. But the funny thing is, all spencer needs to do to make things right is apologize. I mean, like a real, sincere apology where he holds himself accountable. You know, nikolas has been so guilty about staying away, he would be putty in spencer’s hands. That easy, huh? Well, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration. But, yeah, I-I mean, it would be a good start. Nikolas has that cassadine ruthlessness and a seemingly cold heart. But that heart melts when it comes to his son. Spencer’s always been his achilles’ heel. So we have quid pro quo, huh, that if shawn and i drop the investigation and forget that you initiated that hit on hayden, then you will facilitate my pardon. My silence buys my freedom. I never said anything of the sort. Did you even think that I would be tempted by this blatant attempt at extortion? Again, I have no idea what you’re talking about. But for argument’s sake… I contend everyone has a price. So the question is, what’s yours? We may not be on the same page right now. But it doesn’t change how I feel about you. I really missed snuggling up against you last night. Yeah, so did I. And knowing how hard we fought to be together, how we already know we want to spend our lives together raising wiley, maybe taking it slow just made things messy. I-I-I’ll go with confusing.

[ Chuckles ] Well, I’m not confused. And there’s one thing I know for sure. I don’t want there to be a division between the part of your life that you let me in and the part of your life that you try to shield me from. That might work for some relationships, but I don’t want that for us. I don’t want that, either. Look, other than our son, there’s nothing more important to me. And I’m gonna spend every day proving that you. Starting now. Alright, ava, I’m gonna have diane look this over. Cool. So, once they’re signed and the money is wired, then I will leave the keys with kristina, and it’s all done. Mm-hmm. So, uh, if you don’t mind, I’m gonna go up and say goodbye to avery. Is that okay? I’m guessing it was your visit with nikolas. Yeah, it was a real revelation. What did he say to you? Nikolas said I could go free. What did this guy want to know? Well, he claimed that he was “touring” port charles, visiting places of interest, and he asked about the savoy. And of course, you know, I-I gave it a glowing review.

[ Chuckles ] But as the conversation went on, it became less and less about the club and more about you. So it struck me that this man fits the general description of tj’s patient that disappeared. So the same guy approached both you and tj,

[Sighs heavily] Asking questions about me. Sorry, I…

[ Laughs ] I know you ordered espresso, but I’m telling people that the machine is broken. ‘Cause…? Because I already scalded myself once, and I’m not going to risk further injury.

At least father seems like he cares a little bit. Ava is just enjoying my humiliation. Then forget her. Just focus on your father. Spence, this is the perfect opportunity to start mending fences. But I feel like I’m still learning how to trust you I wonder how spencer will take to the food service industry after being waited on all his life.

Murder, extortion, switching her baby — none of that was ever her fault. Somebody else, usually me, was always to blame. You are to blame for letting her die, and you will always be to blame for that. So live with it. Oh, so to pay me back, you basically kidnap sonny? [Breathes deeply] She was…smart, so articulate. She’s a talented lawyer, but also a warm and caring aunt… …a voice of sanity in my insane family. Yeah. Well, that’s why you were going to talk to the governor about a pardon, right? Well, unfortunately, it may not work out. You know the conditions — for father to take me back, I have to accept his marriage to ava. I have to accept that woman as my stepmother. He’s already put her in control of my trust fund. I’ll have to grovel to her for every dime that I want to spend. I’m not going to do that, esme. Then — then you’re letting her win. Brick by brick, ava’s building a wall between you and your father. I mean, that’s what she wants, spence. I mean, ava doesn’t want you talking to your father, making him see reason. God forbid your father realizes that she’s just a gold digger, after all.

[ Chuckles ] She’s more in love with his money and his last name than she’ll ever be with him. Yeah, he used to know that. He called me — he came to see me at school, said that we could work together to get him free of ava. Now she’s turned him against me. She’s latched on to him, and she’s never going to let him go. Spence, it’s obvious that your father doesn’t want this separation. You’ve just got to give him room to change his mind. How? [ Scoffs ] Ava never leaves his side. I might be able to help with that. [ Sighs ] I can’t be certain if it was the same man. But did you get a bad vibe from him? He was perfectly pleasant. But there was something about him that did seem… just off. I don’t know. I don’t know. Maybe I’m making too big a deal out of this. No, no, no. Trust your instincts. People often get a bad feeling about someone presenting as ordinary and then tries to ultimately harm them. It’d be a mistake to ignore that feeling.

[ Sighs ] Well, in that case, I was walking outside kelly’s, and I thought I heard footsteps behind me. No one was there. And I turned around to keep going, and I walked right into this man. I was startled. He apologized. He had a map of port charles and asked me for directions to the chuck.

[ Breathes sharply ] And I told him that the chuck was closed today. And that’s when he brought up the savoy. See, I mentioned that I knew the owner, and he was all over it. He claimed that he read somewhere that you had never owned a club before. Where would he get that? Exactly. I don’t remember reading that in any promotional materials I read. And I asked him — I asked himabout his interest in you, but he just brushed it off and claimed he was a “people person”…

[ Sighs ] …Liked to talk to anybody. It seemed reasonable enough, so I excused myself and I left. But in retrospect… maybe it wasn’t so innocent. I agree. What are the odds that two men, same age, same description, would approach two very important people in my life, asking questions about me? Why the hell would I visit you? Well, a lot happened while you were away. I can fill in the blanks — details that your wife and mr. Morgan either weren’t privy to or — or chose not to tell you. Pass. Don’t be too hasty. Buscema and novak are gone, their territories are up for grabs — I might have information about who wants to take their place. You know what, cyrus? Enjoy flatland. Make yourself comfortable, ’cause, from what I hear… you’re going to spend the rest of your life there.

[ Chuckles ]

Nikolas is the one who had hayden shot. That’s your belief — he didn’t actually say the words. No, he didn’t actually say the words. I’ve known him his whole life, and it was very clear to me by what he didn’t say that he was the one who tried to have hayden killed. I’m sorry. You’re sorry? What are you sorry for? You’re the one who — who — who spent 6 years locked in a cage for something he did and you didn’T. I’m sorry for what this is costing you…

[ Sighs ] …For the pain I see in your eyes. I just thought he was better than that.

[ Sighs ] And he was. I’m telling you, he was. You know, up — up until just a few years ago, he wa– he was good. He was thoughtful. He was noble and empathetic. And that is all gone now. He is self-serving. He doesn’t even care about his own son. And he uses people. He used — used you. Oh, he can show remorse if you confront him. But it’s just a show. He doesn’t mean it. He’s gone bad, I’m telling you, and he will take no responsibility for anything that he’s done. None.

You open your own doors may I take your order? What are your specials? I don’t remember, and you don’t care, so just order eggs florentine like always. You won’t get many tips with that attitude. You know that’s not what I mean. Actually, father, I have no idea what you “mean.” I’ve lost any ability that I ever had to read you or understand your motives. You are working at a diner, awaiting trial for criminal charges. This is not the life you were meant to have. Thanks to you and your wife, it is the life that I have now.

Nobody ever asks you why or for… when we saw each other at the courthouse, I was so focused on helping spence, so worried how the hearing would go, that… I didn’t get the chance to properly express

[Voice breaking] How truly sorry I am for my part in what happened to you. “What happened” is that I was stalked and terrorized to the point of filing for divorce and distancing myself from my only surviving child. What spence did was horribly wrong. And instead of helping him, I should have tried to talk him out of it. Why didn’t you? I can’t imagine my life without you, michael. When I tried, even on a temporary basis, it was a disaster. I don’t just love you, I need and depend on you as my best friend, someone I can confide in and trust. And you can always trust me. I know. But I’ve also realized that you don’t always do things for one reason. Remember when shiloh took me to court to try and force me to disclose what happened to my baby? You were so smart about all of that. You blew me away, running through tactics and potential strategies. It was the same way when we were fighting for custody of wiley. It’s — it’s crazy how your mind works, michael. How you can set up the dominoes to fall the way you want. Which is a nice way of saying I’m calculating. No, michael.

[ Breathes sharply ] It’s not a bad thing. It’s amazing. But it shouldn’t be the reason you proposed. Willow.

[ Breathes sharply ] Look, I hate that we argued, and I do want to make it better, but that — that’s not the reason I asked you to marry me. Could this mystery man, if it is the same man, be someone that you investigated when you were a cop? Someone that you put away? If so, why come looking for me now? I’m sorry. Portia? Hi. Welcome back. Thank you, man. How are you? Good. Trina told me that you were home. Yeah, it’s, uh — it’s been a real adjustment. I’m sure. And — and I heard josslyn — well, josslyn told me that she’s doing great in pcu? Yeah, yeah. Her and trina are really embracing the college experience.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah, I’m happy for them. Yeah. It’s a great time in their lives. Um, curtis, you got a minute to talk about cyrus renault? I won’t have to use the insanity defense. Well, you’re going to need something because the charges are not going away.

[ Scoffs ] This is laughable coming from you. Oh, yeah, you’re really happy to skate when the handcuffs are on you, carly. You know, hiding behind your high-powered attorney, letting her pretzel the law. But when I post legitimate bail, here you are — you’re outraged and you’re screaming for justice. I don’t have to scream. Justice is coming for you. Oh — yeah, you’re gonna be tried and convicted because there’s no excuse for what you did. I think my attorney can make a damn good argument that I was actually protecting sonny. That his life in port charles was dangerous and destructive, and that sonny was actually better off living in nixon falls.

You have to admit the timing is a little suspect. A little. And maybe our disagreement didn’t cause you to propose, but it might have

contributed to it. Maybe. Because you are — you’re a fixer, michael. Your first instinct will always be to try to make things better, and I love that about you. You came into my life, you — you gave me your support, you shared your son with me, and you didn’t try to fix me, but you made it possible for me to fix myself. And now that we’ve disagreed, you want to “fix” that, too, to make that go away, but you don’t have to. We can disagree and still love each other.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah, if, uh, anyone knows that, it’s me. When spence and i met at school, we just… clicked. At first, it was a surface level — we liked a lot of the same things — you know, skiing, riding, theater. From the beginning, it’s like… we could both sense something deeper. This bond we shared.

[ Water lapping gently ]

[ Seagulls squawking ] I’m not close with my family, so when… …spence told me about the situation with his father, you know, thinking his father died, and when nikolas came back, he got involved with you, how badly that hurt spence — I totally empathized. I was so completely focused on spence that I never stopped to realize that I was only hearing his version. Do you feel that justifies your actions? No, no, o-of course not. I realize now that spence was angry — h-he was lashing out, and I was so focused on helping him that… I never stopped to see you as a person. To think about what you were going through. What i was helping to put you through. All those times, I was following spence’s instructions. And those things that I did… I would give anything to take them back. I know what it means to go too far, spencer, alright? For actions to have unpredictable consequences. Would you just talk to me, father and son, like we used to, and just tell me how things got so out of control? Things got a little tough when you “died,” father, and they didn’t get a whole lot better when you turned up alive, either — in fact, they got worse. I can’t change what I did, but I can fix what’s happening now. I can help you get your life back on track. This again? You’re going to provide guidance to your poor, troubled son — that’s what you want? No, I want you to stop punishing me before you wreck your own life. I should have known that nikolas wasn’t going to tell me the truth. I’m absolutely naive.

[ Sighs ] And all I’ve done is give him a heads-up that we’re on to him. You know, that could work to our advantage. Nikolas spent the past 6 years thinking he was in the clear. Maybe he got confident, let things slide. Now, if he started scrambling, trying to cover his tracks, he could give something away. Nikolas isn’t scrambling. He’s already got a bribe lined up. The pardon you mentioned. Mm-hmm. Yeah, he — he said that if I drop the subject of hayden, that he and his friend the governor would consider a pardon. And then when I didn’t jump at that opportunity, then it became a warning — either I back off or the pardon disappears. There’s only one thing to do. I know. Take the deal. What?! As far as I know, cyrus renault’s ass is rotting away in a federal prison somewhere in the midwest. Flatland. The operator mentioned it when cyrus called me collect. He called — wait a minute. What did he want? Oh, he was trying to dangle, you know, s-some information that he may or may not have. See, that’s how cyrus operates. It’s all mind games with him. Yep. Yep. Now, you guys were there when he finally went down. Anything you can give me on — on what happened that night? I can tell you that cyrus renault is a brutal, dangerous man. He was waiting for me when I got home and forced me to patch him up at gunpoint. And when trina got home, he made it perfectly clear that he didn’t need two hostages and that one of us was expendable. I’m sorry to bring up any bad memories. Curtis, can you and I, uh, maybe have a discussion alone? There’s really no need to shield me — we all survived renault, and he can’t hurt us now. Okay, well, good luck with that defense. I can’t wait to see you get on the stand and tell the judge that you committed identity fraud against sonny for his own good. Well, who even knows if this kind of identity fraud even exists, carly? I mean, this llantano da is trying to invent some sort of new law just to give michael what he wants. Michael doesn’t control the da. Oh, sure he does. And you control michael. You just… you just can’t stand it, can you, carly? That sonny lived 9 months of his life and you know nothing about it. That he was perfectly happy without you — maybe even a little happier — and now you want revenge, and you’re using your own son to get it for you.

Curtis: I didn’t know what he was going to do next. Cyrus was unraveling. He was — he was screaming at laura. He was waving his gun around. That guy was about two seconds from shooting laura, so I dropped my gun, and he shot me instead. Which gave jordan the opening she needed to enter the house and shoot renault. Laura is a friend, very special to me. I want to thank you for saving her life. Glad I could be there. So am I. I appreciate you guys talking to me. It means a lot. You’re not staying for — for a workout? Oh, you know what?

[ Chuckling ] I haven’t boxed in so long. But I got — I got to check on someone. Alright.

[ Sighs ] I thought we heard the last of cyrus renault. I guess we’re not that lucky. Think about wh ere you weresupposed to be, spencer — taking a gap year, touring the world. And you threw all of that away to get back at me. I’m curious — are you happy with the results? What can I say? The amalfi coast is overrated. I want you to stop sabotaging yourself. Why won’t you listen to me? I will. As soon as you listen to me and cut ava out of your life.

She will always keep… I don’t expect you to forgive me… but if there’s ever anything I can do — any way to make amends, I would appreciate the chance. Well, esme, you’re not the first young woman to get wrapped up in a man and do things she regrets, and I’m willing to put what’s happened behind us and start fresh.

[ Chuckling ] Oh, my god! T-that wasn’t — hmm. Thank you so, so much. You’re welcome. It’s my hope that you can be a good influence on spencer, and hopefully, someday, help him accept his new reality. I think he will. Deep down, spence loves his father. He just has to let go of his pride a little. Hmm. That is not so easy.

[ Chuckles ] Okay, well, I’m going to go and have breakfast with my husband. Of course. Really, ava… thank you again. You’re welcome. And, esme… make good use of this fresh start, ’cause one is all you’re going to get. Cross me again, and you will regret it. Did I just hear you right? Do you really want me to take my nephew’s bribe? I know what it means to be locked in a cell every night, to be without agency, to live by other people’s rules. You have a chance to get out of here. Take it. N-no. No. And not even because of my nephew’s agenda, but because I-I don’t deserve a pardon. You’re being harder on yourself than a prosecutor would be. Shawn, unlike you, I actually committed the crime that I’m in here for.

[ Sighs ] I-I-I’m serving my sentence. It’s my responsibility. It’s my debt to society that I need to — pay your debt on the outside. Right? Use your talents to help people. Volunteer at a legal clinic.

[ Sighs ] Do you want me to just ignore that my nephew is an attempted murderer? I mean, how am I going to look myself in the mirror, let alone maintain my sobriety? No. You want to do what’s best for me? You help me bring my nephew to justice. You, uh, may have noticed that the quartermaines are argumentative. Yes, I’ve picked up on that. But they’re nothing compared to my mom and dad. We always talk about how they were married five times. That means there was four break-ups. Well, I mean, realistically, 8 or 10, and I’m not talking about, like, it’s a disagreement and somebody leaves. I mean, there was — there was yelling, screaming, throwing glass. You know, court battles. My brother morgan and i taken to puerto rico in the middle of the night so we wouldn’t have to see it. And there are times my parents could not stand to be in the same room as each other. But I always knew that they — they were still in love with each other, no matter what. Because even at their worst, whenever one was in trouble, the other one had their back. And that’s how I feel about you, willow. I mean, I can’t imagine any of that kind of fighting, you know — throwing barware, screaming, yelling — all of that kind of stuff, but, you know, even if — even if we did… if you told me to leave and that you hated me and you never wanted to see me again, I’d — I’d leave. And the next day, you call me and you tell me that you need me? I’d be there, no questions asked. I know. Nina: Michael’s just your puppet. Which shows you know nothing about my son or how deep the hole you dug by lying to him to steal time with wiley. Well, I know michael enough to know he wouldn’t do this on his own.

[ Scoffs ] You’re the one pulling us through the ugliness of a trial. And why? Carly, it’s not going to change anything. You’re not going to get those 9 months back. And by targeting me and potentially hurting others, you may find that you also hurt yourself. And how would I do that? What’s going on?

[ Clears throat ] Got it. Oh, and spencer — the coffee. I know. God, I cannot stand that woman. Spence… she has got my father completely under her spell. He needs a wake-up call. You never even considered taking the deal? Of course I have. I hate it here. It’s a hell of a lot better than pentonville, but — but I’m still locked in it. I can’t wait to get out, and I’ll be glad when I get out, but I’m not getting out until my sentence is served. I admire your commitment and your willpower. Ah, maybe it just boils down to stubbornness.

[ Sighs ] I am not going to let my nephew use his money and his influence in order to escape a consequence that he needs to face.

[ Clears throat ] I just don’t know how I’m going to get him to tell the truth. Spencer: Hey, how are ya? I’m well. And look at you, all grown up. Yeah. And a working man, I see. Yeah, you know, I’ve come a long way from the son who could get his father to do anything for him. I think I know a way. Even before my mom found shiloh, we were always moving around, so I didn’t have friends I could count on growing up. People I could call in the middle of the night. Even my dad — he loved me, but he wasn’t strong enough to stand up to my mom. So, meeting you, falling in love with you… it’s like… finding a safe place. Knowing you won’t back down, knowing you won’t bail. That you’re wonderful and kind and generous, and underneath all that, you are pure steel. You won’t let anyone hurt wiley or me. No, I won’T. You’ve given me security, michael. Made me feel safe enough to disagree with you. Safe enough to tell you that I love you and I want to marry you someday, just not right now.

[ Breathes sharply ] I can wait for “someday.” I can wait forever, if I have to. I promise it won’t be that long. Sonny seems to be getting right back into the swing of his “business.”

[ Indistinct conversations in distance ] Does that worry you? Given that trina’s so close with joss? I’ve had a few anxious moments when trina first started going over to sonny’s house, but I’ve seen how careful he is to protect his family and to keep them away from anything questionable. So for the most part, I just try not to dwell on it. Makes sense.

[ Sighs ] Although it’s quite unsettling to hear that renault reached out to sonny. Yeah, I’ve been thinking about that. So renault reaches out to sonny out of the blue. At the same time, “mystery man” shows up in town asking questions about me. Do you think that that man could be working for cyrus? For what it’s worth, I think you made the right choice. You are much better off practicing medicine rather than getting embroiled in corporate infighting. But I’m not practicing medicine because the ethics committee has yet to review brook lynn’s retraction. I don’t know what you’re doing here, ned, but I am not going back to pautuck once the suspension is lifted. Actually, I came here for a much more important reason.

[ Smooches ] The deception meeting was not without its drama. I had to have a little chat with gladys about brook lynn. Gladys doesn’t think that brook lynn is as maternal as she should be. I can only imagine what’s in store for us when our baby is born. Anyway, since the meeting is over, do you feel like meeting for dinner? Great. I’ll see you later.

[ Indistinct conversations ] Willow. Hi. Hi. Are you meeting michael? No, I’m just… taking a break. From the quartermaines, the corinthoses, or both? Actually… from michael. So, ms. Reeves waived extradition, and she’s on her way to pennsylvania. She will be all yours soon. Yeah. I arranged for the money to get transferred to your campaign fund. Good luck on your run for, uh, state attorney general. Yeah, I-I think that prosecuting nina reeves is the right high-profile case you need to bump you up in the polls. Yeah. Um, uh, take care. Everything okay? Yeah. Couldn’t be better. Big move, having nina arrested. Well, someone had to.

Is that about wiley? Look. If nina’s contact with wiley is limited due to her legal status, that is a collateral benefit. But I brought the case to D.A. Sheridan’s attention because nina’s actions were criminal and she deserves to face legal consequences. I couldn’t agree more. I just hope that D.A. Sheridan can get justice for — for avery and donna. I mean, two little girls who thought their father was dead and are so confused that they think that their grandpa mike’s gonna come back to them the same way that you did. You know, justice for dante and kristina a-and — and josslyn. And for you, mom. F-for jason. For everybody who mourned you, dad. And for everyone’s lives who was upended because nina kept you away from us. Well, nina is obviously a very troubled woman, and she — and she’s sorry for her actions. Come on, dad. It’s an act. No, I’m just saying — no, it’s an act. Trust me. Look. Right after you returned, she pulled a stunt that reminded me so much of nelle, my blood ran cold. Look. I gave nina chance after chance, and she betrayed my trust. So, yes, I brought nina’s actions in nixon falls to the attention of somebody who’s in a position to do something about it. What’s going on with you and michael? I thought you guys were solid. So did I. But you don’t need to be burdened with my problems. Okay? You have a job and a baby to deal with. Besides, I shouldn’t talk about michael behind his back. I totally understand. I will just ask one more question, and then you can tell me to shut up. Does this thing between you and michael have anything to do with nina’s arrest? You heard? The port charles press sent out a notification. I can’t say it comes as a surprise. I know how much grief nina caused by not revealing sonny was alive. It’s — it’s less the arrest that troubles me than the fact that michael was behind it. That does not sound like michael. I know. Did you…agree with michael’s decision? I-I don’t know. Uh — I get why he did it. But michael completely blindsided me. Well, austin’s circumstances changed. He realized he was better off dropping his lawsuit against my family. And how exactly did these circumstances change? Well, remember how you told me to engage austin in conversation? Hear him out about the leo thing? Of course. Wait. You actually listened to me?

[ Chuckles ] Shocking. I know. Right? Well, austin ended up blabbing his diagnosis about leo. Being on the autism spectrum. Yeah, which was none of my business, right? So austin violated hipaa laws, and now his medical license is suspended. And that somehow led to him dropping his claim to elq… how exactly? Ned: May I sit? Is this gonna take that long? Well, that depends. I’m here to talk to you about leo. Right. Leo. That sweet boy… that everybody pretends to care about but is really just a pawn in your family’s game. Leo is not a pawn to me. He is to your daughter. Yes, I know brook lynn coerced you into admitting that leo might be on the autism spectrum. I almost lost my medical license because of her. I know. And I’m sorry. Brook lynn can be, uh, single-minded when it comes to fighting for something that she wants. Right. Learned that the hard way. And my wife can be single-minded when it comes to her son, as you noticed. So I want to ask you, as a doctor, can you give me any suggestions to get her to see how you and I see leo? How I can get her to move beyond her denial? So we can help leo. What’s the matter? Things don’t taste as good when you have to worry about how to pay for them. Getting a job can’t really be that bad, spence. You can do anything you put your mind to. Remember when we sneaked out of school to attend fashion week in paris? Yeah, that was your idea, not mine. But you met all those designers, you know, chatted them up. They gave us a backstage tour. The cassadine name impresses. And with your name and those contacts, you could pitch crimson on covering menswear. It’s a woman’s magazine, esme. Hey. Idea number two. You can speak fluent french and a couple of other languages. You could be a matre d’ at the metro court. The international clientele would be very impressed. Carly won’T. She wouldn’t even let britt put us up overnight in her hotel room, remember? Okay. No doubt he’ll be thrilled to entrust his daughter to someone awaiting trial for stalking. Okay, fine. I give up. What sort of job do you think you could get? What’s in the box in the kitchen? [ Laughs ] Trust me, dr. Finn. Fresh cherries are way better than canned. Right. When can we make one? When can we make one? Well, as soon as aiden gives us his recipe and…helps us make it. Let’s go see what else is in the box. Before we do that, I have a surprise for you. Another surprise?

[ Laughs ] Well, uh, thank you for the cherry picker. Pitter. Pitter. It’s a pitter. It’s a pitter. And I brought you some pots and pans. Wow! That’s amazing. Well, we’re gonna need those, you know, ’cause I just — I-I went to this place called the, um… supermarket. Oh! And I bought actual groceries. Nice. Yeah. Oh, well, thank you, but jake’s at art class and cameron is working tonight. Ahh. Well, then, how about you, me, chase, aiden, and violet? [ Chuckles ] If you must know, I gave austin a choice. He could either drop his claim on elq or kiss his medical career goodbye. So your righteous indignation about austin revealing confidential medical information wasn’t so righteous at all. Nice one. Of course it was. Thank you. Two things can be true at once. I can care about leo and also use austin’s arrogant violation of hipaa rules to my advantage. I’m just saying I remember you bringing up medical privacy law, and I told you to go talk to austin anyway. Is that where you got the idea to maneuver austin into violating confidentiality? You want my help with leo? I’m sorry for laying this on you, especially after brook lynn boxed you into a corner. Oh, she sure did — forcing me to choose between my medical career and my father’s birthright. Hmm. Well, I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t feel boxed in myself. I can’t turn to monica because she’ll go directly to olivia, and I have to do whatever needs to be done to get leo the help he needs. I cannot confirm for you whether or not leo has autism. That’s up to a specialist to decide. Well, olivia refuses to take him to see one. She’s not the first mother to react that way.

[ Sighs ] Well, how do I get through to her? You know, ned. I don’t know what you’re doing here. You don’t need me. You don’t need my advice. You don’t need the opinion of another medical expert. You need a marriage counselor. I walked in on michael meeting with the district attorney for llantano county, pennsylvania. He wants to run for state attorney general, and michael donated money to his campaign. And in return, the D.A. Agreed to prosecute nina. But michael had promised me he wouldn’t make any decisions about nina as it related to wiley unless he and i talked it over first. And when I pointed that out to him, he claimed that having nina arrested was a legal matter that didn’t involve wiley. Seems like michael is splitting hairs. Doesn’t it? If nina gets convicted for lying about sonny, she’ll go to prison, which is the perfect way to keep her from wiley. So, I-I know you already know this, but nina was able to get in one last visit with wiley by just showing up at the house, acting like nothing had happened. There’s no question that nina took advantage of you and the family. Yeah, yeah. Now, unfortunately, nina has legal rights as wiley’s biological grandparent, and the last thing I want is an ugly family court battle with wiley in the center. You’re right. Keeping wiley protected is the most important thing here. Yeah, but keeping wiley protected doesn’t have to mean letting nina off the hook. I mean, her lies kept dad away from his family, from his life for nine months. I mean, that has to be illegal. And D.A. Sheridan thinks that he can make the case for identity fraud. Ohh. I agree with you, michael. I had it out with nina big-time. Yeah, and that’s all you did, though, mom. You had one angry confrontation when you had every right to take it a step further. I mean, you should have gone to the authorities about getting nina prosecuted. Honestly, I’m — I’m surprised that I got here before you did.

Okay. Forget the last… eight ideas. Truth is, getting a job is really about who you know. And who still likes you. There has to be someone in port charles who’s willing to cut you a break. Um, britt westbourne. She’s co-chief of staff at general hospital. Maybe she can hire me as her assistant. There you go. Give her a call. Okay. All right. No offense, but that’s probably something best done in private. Go for it. Hey, cam. Esme. Hey. I just wanted to say thanks for not turning your back on spence — you know, when you offered to speak to your grandfather about defending him. Look. I-I’m sorry that scott laughed at you. Spence has quite the reputation in port charles. Kind of deserved, don’t you think? All I’m asking for is some doctor’s advice on how to talk to olivia. I thought you cared about leo. I do care about leo. But olivia wasn’t listening to me. And brook lynn was threatening my medical license. And you don’t get to come here with your hat in your hand when you didn’t lift a finger to try and help me. I did not in any way encourage brook lynn or conspire with her, okay, to get you to sign away your claim. But I won’t deny that, business-wise, it works out in my favor. Am I supposed to applaud you for just being honest? Austin, I don’t blame you for being angry with me. But the truth is, we’re on the same side. We both want what’s best for leo. So can’t we just make peace for leo’s sake? Brook lynn: Austin is a doctor, okay? He knows perfectly well he’s not supposed to share patient information unless he gets permission from said patient. Now, if austin is too arrogant to keep his theory to himself, then he assumed the risk and has to live with the consequences. The point is, you manipulated austin into saying something that he shouldn’t right after you brought up hipaa restrictions to me. Why do you even care? It’s not like you’re a fan of his. Because austin’s a doctor. And he was worried about a patient, and you took advantage. Okay. That was harsh. Well, would it make you feel any better if I told you I did it for my dad? Ned can take care of himself. He doesn’t need your help. Look, and I know you’re — you’re feeling guilty because valentin got your shares of elq, but I think your dad’s forgiven you. When are you gonna forgive yourself, brook lynn? It’s not like I haven’t heard that one before. But you know what? It’s all good now. I’m retracting my claim that — that austin, you know, violated hipaa, and he can go back to practicing medicine again. You gave him a choice — his — his medical license or his claim to elq — and he chose his medical license. Doesn’t that tell you that his heart’s in the right place where leo is concerned?

[ Scoffs ] I think it shows he was backed into a corner, and he picked the sure thing, his medical career, instead of waiting around to see if the court, you know, sided with him and his claim. You’re not gonna give this guy any credit. Oh, please. Austin gatlin-holt is far from a poor, powerless little country doctor. He basically declared war on me. Is that your daddy? It is. I’m sorry, mom. That picture must have gotten mixed up with the other ones. Isn’t he my mommy’s daddy, too? She told me that his name was grandpa jeff. Your mommy was right. I know grandpa gregory. How come I don’t know grandpa jeff? Me and my brothers don’t spend any time with grandpa jeff, either, violet. Why not? He lives really far away. Daddy, can we go see him? Well, he’s a, um, really busy man. Too busy to meet me? Why can’t I meet my grandpa? You’re right. I should have done something. And believe me, I have stayed up at night thinking of ways to get back at nina. You didn’t come up with anything? I came up with a million things! And then I reconsidered. Why? Because I asked her to. It sure sounds like michael went full-on quartermaine. And corinthos. Obviously what nina did to his family hit him really hard. And I understand that. What I don’t understand is why michael shut me out. We had what I thought was a really good talk about the situation. We agreed that nina was totally in the wrong, but for wiley’s sake, the best thing we could do is not trouble, trouble. Nina hasn’t tried to see wiley since the truth came out. Why provoke her? Michael agreed. He even thanked me for my insight. And then he turned right around and got that D.A. Sheridan to have nina arrested without even asking to hear my thoughts on the matter. Dad, why? I thought it was enough that nina understands that she stays away from me and my family. And wiley? She knows that you’re gonna make the decision whether she has a relationship with wiley. And I-I — you know, I’m with you, whatever decision you make. Wait. Dad, do you have a problem with me reaching out to D.A. Sheridan? Actually, yeah, I do.

Willow, michael loves you. I know how much he was hurting when you married chase. I’m not doubting michael’s love. But for the first time, I feel like he hid something from me, went behind my back, led me to believe one thing while he was doing something else. Maybe he can’t fight his upbringing. He is, after all, a quartermaine and a corinthos. And he’s seen how his two families deal with people who get in their way. So in michael’s mind, he was only doing what he was taught to do — deal with the problems by any means necessary. It’s not what michael did. It’s that he left me out. Michael never shared what was on his mind with me. He treated nina as a problem only he could handle. And I don’t blame you for being hurt, but I’m gonna guess that michael didn’t intend to exclude you. In fact, he probably thought that by going after nina legally instead of in family court, he was honoring your wishes. Yeah, that’s what he said. That’S…not at all how I see it. Then say that to michael. Tell him how you feel. It’s the best way to work this out. Michael, I agree with you about nina. I do. But your dad convinced me that his homecoming shouldn’t be about anger and resentment. I mean, sonny’s back. And he missed us, and we missed him, and we all get to be together, and that’s what’s important. I was — I was downplaying any payback with nina because I didn’t want to make it a bigger deal than it is, right? I just want to forget about her. Yeah, and, dad, you can do that right now. D.A. Sheridan’s moving forward with the case against nina. If she’s convicted, none of us have to worry about bumping into her in port charles, especially wiley. Isn’t leo’s welfare the most important consideration? Brook lynn didn’t think so. Brook lynn has no soul. She’s like the rest of you quartermaines, with the possible exception of monica, although monica married into the family, so thank goodness for monica. She doesn’t have to share your dna. Ned: Brook lynn has a soul. She also cares deeply about this family. Last year, she made a huge error in judgment, and now she’s determined to do everything she can to make it up to me and the family. That does not make what she did to me any less ugly. Ned… i love being a doctor. I love it. Might be the best thing about me. I want to help people. And she took that, and she twisted it around. She tried to use it against me. She weaponized it. And I will not forgive her for that. And I will not, not forget. Chase: Did austin really declare war? Or are you exaggerating just a little bit? You tell me. After austin signed the document giving up his rights to elq, he told me this was far from over, that it was just the beginning. The guy wants payback. Okay, well, if austin does try anything, let me know. I’m still a detective, even though I’m chained to a desk for the foreseeable future. You’ll still help me? And prosecuting her in a new type of crime like identity fraud will generate headlines to boost his profile. So you just pointed him towards free publicity? Well, the quartermaines also… made a substantial contribution to his election campaign. No luck with britt? Nope. She’s not answering her phone. And the hospital said that she’s out of the country, so… hey, cam! Do you know where spence could get a job? Well, that’s funny you should ask. I actually just got promoted to assistant manager, so that means we need a server to take my place. Too bad I was arrested and I’m awaiting trial. Well, you know what? I had — my attorney’s filing the appropriate paperwork. The fact is, nina broke the law. She did it in llantano county. So it’s up to sheridan if he wants to prosecute. Look. Did I set it in motion? Yes. Yes, I did. But sheridan is an experienced prosecutor who wouldn’t move forward with this case unless there was merit. Nina is the one who’s wrong here, okay? Not me. If I wasn’t pregnant, gladys corbin would have me diving headfirst into a bottle. If you weren’t pregnant, gladys corbin wouldn’t even be in your life. True. And I wouldn’t trade this pregnancy for anything. Despite gladys being a class-a troublemaker. You know, carly and I have had our disagreements, especially about nina, but fortunately for me, carly is no gladys. Oh, not even close. Willow… I’m not trying to rationalize what michael did, but I don’t think he meant to shut you out. Every couple argues. No matter how good they are together. That’s what makes them so good! They feel safe enough to disagree. Michael loves you with all his heart. What he did does not change that. And I hope it doesn’t change your love for him. No, of course not. Then you will work this out… and you will both be stronger for having overcome this. Finn: Elizabeth! You coming? Chase: Finn doesn’t know how to turn the stove on! When I joined deception, it was to influence lovers of glam and — and beauty, not to help you experience things that you can’t afford on your salary so you charge them to the company expense account. If you didn’t want to get out into the world, maybe you should have stayed home with your baby? Y-you do have a daughter, remember? What, is there no other crime in pennsylvania? Well, that’s my point. That’s why we’re trying to get her away from sonny’s influence. Yeah, but money can cross state lines. There were a bunch of lowlifes putting the squeeze on lenny and phyllis. Yeah, I know. You told me all about that. I-I didn’t know nina was involved with that. What makes you think that nina is not paying for her misdeeds now? What, because she feels bad about it? Everyone knows what she did — keeping sonny’s existence a secret. I mean, people are asking for her blood, and I’m sure more will pile on. And then, of course, there’s wiley. What about him? Well, he’s just a kid now, but eventually he’s going to know, you know, what his grandmother did to his grandfather. Right, and he has a right to know. And no one understands that better than nina herself.

[ Scoffs ] If nina is so committed to wiley, then why didn’t she bring his grandfather home to him? Why didn’t she come forward when she had the chance? Or any time in between when she found out that my father was alive and the day he came home to us? Who are you to criticize me or anyone as a parent? Brook lynn, you don’t want to make a scene.

[ Scoffs ] I stand behind what I said. Gladys, you need to back off. No, no, no. I want to hear this. Well, then, get ready for an earful. Because you, brook lynn, just like the rest of your generation, want it all. What does me “wanting it all” have to do with my baby? My point exactly. What you want is all for you. [ Chuckles ] Maxie’s a unicorn. Brook lynn is a bat. And you’re… you get the idea. Right. Just try a little harder not to get on brook lynn’s bad side. She has a good side? I mean it, gladys! And you can start by not questioning her love for her baby.

[ Sighs ] If you say so. But if you ask me, little bailey is gonna need a therapist.

[ Exhales sharply ] I owe you an apology. What for? I just left you at that tavern to sleep off the ouzo. It wasn’t just ouzo. No, I realize that now, but I took it all at face value, which was my first mistake. Then you ended up in a prison with drew and obrecht. Well, on the bright side, I got to spend some quality time with my uncle, who, as it turns out, may be my father. Oh, right. Dear victor. I would have liked to have seen peter turn on him.

I-I’m gonna tell you, when we were waiting for the medevac and I was checking on you, checking your pulse and your breathing and holding the pressure on your wound — I’m gonna be honest — I wasn’t sure that you were gonna make it. And when I kept thinking that you weren’t gonna make it, I-I realized I wouldn’t have the chance to say… to say what? They really are out of everything. Is this a wsb operation or a frat party?
