Adam: Damn it!

Nick: Good morning, dad.

Victor: Hey, son. Hi, sweetheart.

Victoria: Good morning.

Victor: So, to what do I owe this visit?

Nick: I brought vic up to speed about your mental fitness, the truth about your health.

Victor: My health?

Victoria: Daddy, nick told me that you’ve been fooling us this whole time. I can’t believe you. I can’t believe that you would let me think that there’s something seriously wrong with you. I mean, did you feel that my loyalty needed to be tested that badly? Do you actually think that I would exploit your health just for a job title?

Victor: What is this all about?

Kyle: You’re doing everything right, mariah. And the audiologist you saw came highly recommended.

Mariah: Mm-hmm. Yep. Dr. George is amazing. You know, she was on devon’s care team when he got his cochlear implant.

Kyle: Perfect. He knows her from personal experience.

Mariah: She’s fantastic. She’s so knowledgeable and extremely patient, especially with tessa and me and our endless questions.

Kyle: See, you’re setting yourselves up for success in every way.

Mariah: Yeah, but still, I just have all of these doubts, these worries in my mind.

Kyle: Well, then let’s take the what-ifs head on. Even if the hearing aids don’t work, there are other options, right?

Mariah: There are.

Kyle: Okay. You have a strong support team.

Mariah: Yeah, the best.

Kyle: You can do this, mariah.

Mariah: Thank you. I needed to hear that. Well, what about you? How is the job search going?

Kyle: Oh. Uh, refresh my memory. Um, what exactly is a job?

Mariah: Oh, please tell me you’re at least looking.

Kyle: Why? I’m rather enjoying the easy life.

Mariah: Yeah, because you always struck me as a man of leisure.

Kyle: Well, I’m learning how to make sourdough from mrs. Martinez.

Mariah: Of course, you are.

[ Kyle laughing ]

Kyle: No, no. Um, but I am having fun.

Mariah: That’s great. But how much longer can that last? I mean, I know you. You’re just like your father. You love hard work. You love proving yourself.

Kyle: That’s true. And the downtime has been driving me crazy.

Mariah: Okay. So, do you have any idea what you wanna do next?

Kyle: I do actually. I want to be back at jabot in my old co-ceo job.

Mariah: Okay. Wait a second. I– I– I thought you said things were going downhill at jabot, and now you want back in? I think it’s too bad since your uncle has your old job.

Kyle: That could be changing soon.

Billy: Look at you. You’re here.

Chelsea: I’m back, baby.

Billy: Thank god.

Chelsea: That was the welcome home I was waiting for.

Billy: It’s damn good to see you.

Chelsea: Did you miss me?

Billy: Every day. And why didn’t you tell me you were coming home?

Chelsea: I wanted to surprise you. Be a little mysterious. Did it work?

Billy: Am I smiling?

Chelsea: Your face. It’s not the same as video chats.

Billy: No, it’s not the same like this.

Chelsea: Well, full disclosure, I’m also here for a little bit of work. I have a marchetti meeting to discuss the spring collection.

Billy: I heard about that.

Chelsea: I also need to put out a few fires.

Billy: Trouble at marchetti?

Chelsea: Let’s just say summer and chloe both have very strong personalities.

Billy: I haven’t heard of any issues.

Chelsea: Well, that’s about to change.

Summer: They’re good, but they’re just not there yet.

Chloe: Um, oh, okay, uh, these are just initial sketches just to give you an idea of where we’re headed.

Summer: I get that. But I really do think that we need to go back to the drawing board. Start completely fresh.

Chloe: We’ve done that a couple times already. Look, summer, can you please just trust me and my years of experience? These are good. We just need a bit more time to get them fleshed out.

Summer: Marchetti has a very specific look. A very specific clientele.

Chloe: [ Chuckles ] Okay, look, you just need to give chelsea and me more leeway. We know what we’re doing. We have years of experience.

Summer: So, you mean more experience than– than me?

Chloe: That’s not what I said.

Summer: Look, I know that you and chelsea have a lot of experience. You’ve worked together successfully in fashion before and I know that that means that you’re used to doing what you want to do. But I’m in charge of marchetti and I know exactly what I want.

Chloe: Fair. But also being in charge means listening to your people and letting their creativity flow.

Summer: So, you think that I’m holding you back? Is that it?

Chloe: Look, I– I thought maybe in the beginning when we were working together, maybe there were just some initial bumps in the road, but lately, you seem to be second-guessing every design and suggestion we make. Why can’t you just let go?

Nick: Dad, she knows everything.

Victoria: Yeah, I know everything. Nick told me that you’ve been pretending to appear mentally unstable, forgetting big life events, drawing strange pictures and leaving them behind like breadcrumbs for nicholas to find.

Nick: I know you had reasons for it. Vic and I have talked about it. We’re willing to go along with this plan of yours to help you prove that adam is the one you need to be worried about.

Victoria: That’s right. Adam. Adam is the one with the loyalty issue. This plan should be for him and for him alone.

Victor: I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. What plan?

Nick: The plan that you admitted to me.

Victor: I didn’t admit to a damn thing. I didn’t set a trap for anyone. What are you talking about?

Nick: Dad, enough with these games. You said to me that you were setting a trap to uncover any traitors that were around you.

Victor: Are you trying to trick me?

Victoria: Oh, god. Come on. You know that’s not true.

Victor: I know what you’re doing. I know exactly what you’re doing. You’re trying to convince me that I’m losing my own mind.

Adam: Well, good morning, barely.

Sally: Oh, my god. What time is it?

Adam: It’s, um, it’s pretty late. Which is not surprising since we were, uh, up most of the night.

Sally: Have you heard from your work?

Adam: Yeah. I got a half a dozen texts from nate that I didn’t hear. Haven’t, uh, slept that soundly in a long time.

Sally: Yeah, me neither, I guess.

Adam: Look, I know that this was unexpected and I just wanna make sure that you’re okay. I know we still have a lot to unpack after all that we talked about and, uh, and did last night. I understand if last night does not mean what I hope it means. Do you regret that we spent the night together?

Sally: I don’t regret what happened last night. But you’re right. There is a lot to unpack.

Adam: We could talk once I’m done with work if you want. We can– maybe wanna grab some dinner?

Sally: I think I just need to take a breath. You know, just let it sink in before I figure out where things go from here.

Adam: Of course.

Sally: Thanks. I… appreciate that.

Adam: For the record.

Sally: Yeah.

Adam: I don’t regret a single moment about last night. I’ll see you later.

Nick: Nobody’s trying to trick you, dad. After our conversation last night, I reached out to vic. I told her everything.

Victor: Our conversation last night?

Nick: Yes. I confronted you about the drawing adam found in your desk. The one made up of the snake with all the kids’ names in it. It’s from the serpent of names. From that– that– that book from my childhood that I loved so much.

Victoria: Nick told me that you’ve been faking this condition of yours and you’ve been trying to deceive all of us.

Victor: What?

Nick: You confessed to me that you were setting a trap to test your kid’s loyalty.

Victor: I– I don’t know. Do I need to do that?

[ Knocking on door ] Come in. Oh, nate.

Nate: Sorry for interrupting.

Victor: Take me out of here. What the hell are you talking about?

Nick: Dad.

Nate: Of course.

Nick: What the hell is going on?

Billy: So, how’s my buddy, connor, doing?

Chelsea: He’s doing great. He says to say hello to you.

Billy: Oh, yeah? Tell him I say hello. And that’s all true? Everything’s good with him?

Chelsea: It’s better than good, billy. The school is fantastic. It’s doing wonders for connor’s self-esteem and mental health.

Billy: That’s amazing.

Chelsea: Yeah. He’s around a bunch of kids that struggle with the same difficulties, you know? His age, they can talk about things openly. So, it was the right move going to the school.

Billy: I know the last time that I visited, he, uh, he seemed really proud of himself. I think some of that had to do with him picking the school, you know, finding it on his own, helping you and adam make that tough decision to go there.

Chelsea: He knew what he wanted. My son is smart, intuitive. Oh, and he has also moved into the dorms, so that’s going well.

Billy: Wow. Not afraid to make choices for himself, huh?

Chelsea: Yeah. And he has also told me with confidence that if I want to come back to genoa city so I don’t have to continue working remotely, he supports that.

Billy: Well, he must feel at ease there.

Chelsea: Yeah, he does. He is busy. He has so many activities. He’s playing sports. I definitely plan to go back and see him on the weekends. But the truth is, even when I was there, I was only seeing him on the weekends anyway because it’s a boarding school.

Billy: Look at you. You did the right thing by your kid. That’s good. You made him feel safe and heard.

Chelsea: Well, thank you for all your support. It really means a lot to me.

Billy: He’s a wonderful boy and you’re an amazing mother. And selfishly, I’m very happy you’re gonna be spending more time here ’cause I need you around more than ever.

Chelsea: Oh, yeah?

Billy: Mm-hmm.

Chelsea: You know, I still have my apartment upstairs.

Billy: Oh, is that right?

Chelsea: Yeah.

Billy: That one right there?

Chelsea: That one right there. You wanna go up for a bit?

Summer: I’m not second guessing. I have faith in you and chelsea.

Chloe: Well, it doesn’t feel that way.

Summer: It’s not personal. I just know what I want and frankly, I haven’t seen it yet.

Chloe: Okay. Well, maybe you just need to open your mind a little. I mean, we just need to meet in the middle on this.

Summer: We can’t afford to put out anything that’s less than perfection. Spring is an incredibly competitive time in fashion.

Chloe: Yeah. I’m aware of that.

Summer: We need to keep our customers engaged and excited. We actually need to up the ante. That has been our goal ever since we moved marchetti to the states.

Chloe: And we will. We have done customer surveys and research. At a certain point, you just need to let it all go and trust ourselves, that we know what they’re looking for.

Summer: Our sales have been down as of late. And I actually don’t think that we just need to let it go. I think that we need to be more targeted and specific, and that is the reason I have been trying to push you and chelsea to be the absolute best that you can be.

Chloe: Okay. Noted about the sales. I will make a point to pay attention to that. But I think it’s your fears that are clouding your judgment.

Summer: What fears?

Chloe: Well, maybe you’re feeling the need to prove yourself now that kyle is gone and you’re worried that you won’t measure up on your own.

Summer: Wow. Okay.

Chloe: Oh, look– look, I’m sorry. I– I– I’m not blaming you. I– I just think that maybe you’re feeling, you know, the slumping of sales and, you know, it’s throwing you off. And for some reason, you just can’t trust yourself and know that chelsea and I can deliver for you.

Summer: That’s not what’s happening here.

Chloe: Okay. Well, then the only other reason is you don’t think that we can pull this off.

Billy: I’m really enjoying having you home.

Chelsea: Mm-hmm. Me too. You know, I didn’t know, um, I don’t know if I was gonna be able to track you down today. I didn’t know your schedule at jabot.

Billy: Yeah. Jabot.

Chelsea: Uh-oh. Still facing problems at work?

Billy: It’s chaotic.

Chelsea: I thought things would get better now that ashley’s back at the company.

Billy: Well, that part is good. It’s been nice having her back, but tucker’s still in town and it’s one underhanded move after another.

Chelsea: Mm-hmm.

Billy: I don’t think I told you, but he got phyllis and her it skills to hack into jabot’s account and then deposit that money into my personal account.

Chelsea: What? To make it look like you were embezzling money?

Billy: Yes.

Chelsea: To what end?

Billy: Like I said, it’s chaotic. We, jack, and I figured that out pretty quickly, but he showed up at jack and diane’s wedding with a wedding gift, and of course, there was a listening device attached to it.

Chelsea: Are you serious?

Billy: To top it all off–

Chelsea: The brass on him.

Billy: Ashley’s back in town and she wants to figure out what he’s up to and she’s determined.

Chelsea: Oh, figure out how? She can’t just ask him.

Billy: Wouldn’t that be nice? No. She’s got a plan and I don’t like it, but I know better to try and control my sister. I mean, she’s watching out for the family company, so that I support.

Chelsea: I mean, do you really think tucker can do damage to jabot? I mean, his behavior seems underhanded and sketchy, but also very childish.

Billy: I hear you. I’m not sure if it’s all a diversion or what.

Chelsea: Oh, so he can like attack from another angle.

Billy: I would like to believe that we can handle another tucker-like attack, but I’m– I’m not sure. You know, he can hit hard when the mood strikes.

Chelsea: Yeah. Well, you think ashley will soften him?

Billy: She’s determined, like I said. She thinks she can handle him.

Chelsea: Well, if anybody’s got a shot, it’s ashley. I mean, she’s his weakness or used to be.

Billy: Hm. At this point, I don’t– I don’t know. Right now, I think I have a bigger problem to solve.

Chelsea: Jack?

Billy: No. My nephew, kyle. I think he’s coming after me.

Mariah: Why would you think that billy would lose his job so soon? Did he screw up again? Pulled a billy abbott special?

Kyle: Not yet, but it’s only a matter of time. The best predictor of future behavior is the past.

Mariah: And you think destruction is in billy’s nature?

Kyle: I don’t think we should wait around for him to do what he always does. Smart move is to take action before he has a chance to mess things up at jabot.

Mariah: Yeah, I do not like this at all.

Kyle: What?

Mariah: The– the look in your eyes, the tone in your voice. I’ve never known you to be ruthless.

Kyle: I’m only looking out for my family’s company and myself.

Mariah: Are you really gonna try to get billy, your uncle, fired?

Kyle: Okay. I’m not actively trying to undermine him, no. But I am going after what I want. Look, I gave my father an ultimatum: Bring me back as co-ceo or I walk for good.

Mariah: Wow. That seems harsh. And– and you know ultimatums rarely work, especially with family.

Kyle: I don’t feel like I had any other choice.

Mariah: Is it really worth getting into a family war just to take back your co-ceo position? I mean, does the job really mean that much to you?

Kyle: Maybe it does, mariah.

Mariah: Kyle, you are smart, you’re focused, energetic. You can do anything. And maybe it’s time to think about going out on your own, starting your own business, free of family politics and tension.

Nate: I’m sure whatever victoria and nick were saying to you, they meant well. Their intentions are good.

Victor: I’m not sure about that.

Nate: They’re worried about their father. They’re looking out for you. Wanna protect you.

Victor: They just wanna make a big deal out of this. They want me to be examined, to be looked at, to– tested. I don’t want that intrusion intrusion in my life.

Nate: Understood.

Victor: By the way, have you been able to get ahold of the specialist you were promising me?

Nate: I’m waiting for a callback.

Victor: You are the only one I can trust.

Adam: Oh, well, good morning, you two. Oh, you look unusually miserable today.

Victoria: Would you shut up, adam?

Nick: Where are we coming from? Sally’s room? Begging her for another chance? When are you gonna let it go?

[ Music begins to play “love like this” b

Adam: I missed you so much. You know, being here with you.

Sally: Yeah. It was just–

Adam: I know. For both of us. It’s not like we were planning for it.

Sally: No, no. Definitely not.

Adam: But for me, it feels right. Meant to be.

Sally: [ Exhales ] Enough.

Adam: Have, uh, either one of you seen or spoken to our father this morning?

Nick: Yeah, we just saw him at the office.

Adam: And how does he seem?

Nick: He’s in and out of his faltering mental state. Today, he seems forgetful.

Adam: Well, whatever is going on with him, it’s clearly not going away.

Nick: You might be right about that.

Adam: I actually spoke with a specialist last night.

Victoria: You spoke to someone without consulting us?

Adam: Yes. Okay? I was worried just like you are.

Nick: Did the doctor have any advice?

Adam: He advised me to have victor meet with him so he can better assess the situation. Now, I think the three of us could make that happen.

Victoria: No. No. It’s not gonna be necessary for you to be involved going forward. We’ll handle everything with our father. He doesn’t trust you. In fact, none of us do.

Victor: Where did you take me? Where are we?

Nate: Uh, the park. You asked to come here.

Victor: Oh. I can’t seem to figure this out.

Nate: Figure what out?

Victor: The moments when everything is very clear and then, suddenly becomes foggy, you know? I mean, moments of clarity and then, I don’t know, it just gone.

Nate: Okay. Okay. We’ll get that sorted. I promise.

[ Victor sighing ]

Victor: One thing I do know, I do know that I’m alone.

Nate: That’s not true. You’re not alone. You have your family.

[ Victor groaning ]

Victor: No. They wanna take everything from me.

Nate: Who?

Victor: My children.

Nate: No, victor. They love you. You–

Victor: They– they wanna take my company from me, my sanity, my autonomy, everything. I mean, victoria is very angry with me.

Nate: Victoria would never do anything against you. She wouldn’t dare attempt a coup by using your condition as a weapon.

Victor: You sure about that?

Nate: Very much so.

Victor: They’re my children. I raised them to be ruthless and cutthroat as I am. Now, you see what I created? Monsters of my own making. Think about that.

Adam: Look, I get why the two of you are trying to shut me out.

Nick: It’s a delicate situation, adam. We have to proceed with caution.

Adam: And don’t you think I know that? Don’t you think I realize the consequences if word got out that our father has this condition?

Victoria: Would you please keep your voice down?

Adam: Okay. I know that you can’t trust me.

Victoria: You’re damn right we don’T.

Adam: And it’s understandable.

Victoria: Good. So then, you’ll back off.

Adam: Okay. I can’t do that because I’m as scared as you are and I’m not gonna sit by and do nothing, okay? I’m victor’s child too.

Nick: Yes, adam. We know that.

Adam: I’m not standing on the sidelines. Or turning a blind eye. I have to do something with or without you.

Victoria: So stupid.

Summer: I do trust you and chelsea.

Chloe: Well, it’s hard to accept that when you’re breathing down our necks.

Summer: This isn’t about you and it’s not about me either. This is about the spring line.

Chloe: Yeah. Which we are doing. I mean– but, it’s right there. You’re just not willing to see it.

Summer: This is a mistake.

Chloe: What?

Summer: This whole thing, the big picture, it’s just– it’s not working. And we are clearly not getting anywhere right now, so let’s take a break.

Chloe: Okay. Wait, hold on. Hold on a sec. I mean, we– we can talk this through a bit more.

Summer: I have calls that I need to make, so let’s wait for chelsea and we can reconvene, but for right now, we’re done.

Kyle: I have thought about starting my own company from time to time.

Mariah: You could totally do it. I believe in you.

Kyle: But I always end up nixing the idea because it just doesn’t feel right.

Mariah: And going back to jabot does.

Kyle: Despite its challenges, yeah. Okay. Look, when I was fired from newman media, victor gave me some advice.

Mariah: Mm. I can’t wait for this.

Kyle: He said I should go back to where I belong, working with my family. And I actually think he’s right.

Mariah: So, you’re gonna base your entire life’s purpose off of something victor told you to do.

Kyle: No. I– I think it’s been brewing in me for a while, but what he said helped clarify it.

Mariah: Enlighten me.

Kyle: Okay. I do get frustrated with my dad, but I can’t let go of the feeling that my place is at jabot. You know, my family’s company, my grandfather’s legacy.

Mariah: I didn’t know that it meant so much to you.

Kyle: Well, I think I’ve always taken it for granted because it’s been a part of my life. I mean, jabot was everything to the abbotts. It’s a part of their identity. It’s a part of me. And I now realize I will do whatever it takes to get back there.

Mariah: Even railroading billy?

Kyle: No, no, no. Don’t put it like that. Look, I deserve my spot, my place and I’m confident that eventually, things will go my way.

Chelsea: You’re concerned about kyle? Why?

Billy: Because he is gunning from my job. He had it before and he wants it back.

Chelsea: Do you think jack would give it to him?

Billy: I think he’s putting jack in a really tough position. I mean, he’s having to choose between his son and his brother. And to be honest, I don’t– I don’t feel too confident about the way he’s leaning.

Chelsea: Jack wouldn’t do that to you, would he?

Billy: He’d be making a mistake if he did. And it would make me question his judgment when it comes to jabot.

Chelsea: Mm-hmm. So, do you still blame diane for that? His blind devotion to her?

Billy: Actually, between jack and diane, she’s been the levelheaded one. And I’m sure she would want her son to work alongside them and she wouldn’t question pushing me aside.

Chelsea: So, you think you’ll be squeezed out?

Billy: Look, I’m not trying to point fingers or lay blame. Jack has had it coming at him from all sides. Started with ashley, then tucker, and now kyle. It’s enough to shake anyone’s judgment.

Chelsea: Mm-hmm. Sounds like jack could really use your leadership skills right about now.

Billy: I’ve been working hard and doing good work, I have to say. I’ve been strong and steady in that c-suite.

Chelsea: And kyle?

Billy: Kyle’s had everything handed to him. He hasn’t had to work for anything in his life. He’s not ready for a leadership role. He hasn’t paid his dues.

Chelsea: So, what’s the solution, hm? What are you gonna do?

Billy: I don’t know. It’s my family company.

Chelsea: Are you sure this is what you really want?

Billy: Yeah, it’s what I want.

Chelsea: Okay. I’m just worried that you’re doing it because you feel like you have to because you’re– you’re scared of feeling like a failure.

Billy: It’s not that. This is what I want. It’s the first time I actually feel like I’m on the right path and I’m gonna do everything I can to stay on it.

Chelsea: Well, then I support you.

Billy: Thank you. It’s nice to have you home.

Chelsea: It’s nice to be home.

Nate: It’s true. You taught your children to be ruthless, to go after what they want. Sometimes, even at the expense of each other. But not you. Never their father.

Victor: Victoria wants power. I took it from her.

Nate: Victoria has accepted her new place as your co-ceo.

Victor: You really believe that?

Nate: Yes.

Victor: Then, there’s adam. You know, adam has resented me ever since he set foot in genoa city. I– I– no matter what I try to placate him, it’s not working.

Nate: It’s possible adam is concerned about you more than you’re allowing yourself to see.

Victor: You know what’s happening? Adam and victoria are trying to take me down and I will do something to stop them.

Nate: What will you do?

Victor: I’m gonna fire their asses. Send them as far away from me and this company as possible. That’s what I’m gonna do.

Nick: I don’t know what to make of dad’s behavior. I wasn’t expecting that.

Victoria: I feel like there are only two explanations for what just happened.

Nick: All right. Care to share?

Victoria: Dad’s explanation to you the other night about his odd behavior it’s just a coverup to hopefully keep us from pursuing this further.

Nick: Meaning there is something wrong with him mentally and he doesn’t want it to get out.

Victoria: That’s one option.

Nick: What’s the other?

Victoria: Dad’s acting like he didn’t tell you that he was faking his illness because he still doesn’t trust me.

Nick: What would be the point of that?

Victoria: His end game has changed. He’s come up with another trap, but this one’s for me.

Adam: Dad? Dad? Hey, dr. Skelton. It’s, uh, adam newman. Hey, thank you for speaking with me last night. Um, I’m gonna try to arrange a meeting with my father today for drinks at society. If I give you the time, do you think that you could, uh, stop by say hello?

Chelsea: [ Gasps ] Hi.

Chloe: Oh, I’m so happy that you’re here.

Chelsea: Oh, I am so happy to see you.

Chloe: I have missed you so much. It’s so good to see you. You look, I mean, amazing. Fabulous. We have a big problem.

Chelsea: Where’s summer?

Chloe: Uh, she had to step out. Um, yeah, we– we– we needed a breather.

Chelsea: A breather? That bad, huh?

Chloe: Yeah. This is turning into a disaster of epic proportions and, um, I mean, I thought that I could get it sorted, but it’s appearing to tear apart at the seams.

Chelsea: Okay. The three of us, we’ll sit down, we will figure out a way to work this out.

Chloe: No, it– it’s not you or me. It’s summer. She is fixated and inflexible. You need to help me calm her down and get her to see that we know better than she does.

Mariah: Well, I have gotta go meet tessa and aria for the big appointment.

Kyle: Keep me posted on what happens.

Mariah: Yeah. I want you to do the same, okay? I really hope everything works out with jabot. Just a word of advice. Proceed with caution.

Kyle: Good luck. Send tessa my love and I’ll see you later.

Mariah: Mwah!

Kyle: Billy, what’s going on?

Billy: I know what you’re up to, kyle. So, we’re gonna clear the air once and for all.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

729. Okay? 28 times 38.

Lois: 1,064. 39 Times 39.

1,521.

Mm.

15,000 divided by 11.

[ Gasps ] Oh, we’re switching it up, aren’t we? Oh, okay. Um, 1,363.63636. Ha ha ha. It’s a very good number, I might add.

Wow. You’re good.

Mm-hmm!

Oh, it looks like this is where the fun is. What are we playing, einstein?

It’s a math-off.

Oh, that’s my cue to exit. Carry on.

Scaredy cat.

Uh-huh.

Huh. [ Clicking tongue ] Okay. 7,000 divided by 3.

Easy. 2,333.3333. Also a beautiful number.

I thought you would like it.

Mm. Hmm.

You two still at it?

Of course.

Both: It’s infinite fun.

Tracy: Oh, the wanderer is back. Shouldn’t you be out hustling for some new musical protégé?

I didn’t realize I had to clear my visits. What’s it to you?

Everything that happens in this house is something to me.

[ Door opens ]

Carly: Sorry. We’re closed.

Cyrus: Trick-or-treat?

Lucy: Mm! Hi, there! I am so, so very glad you could make it because I have some mega exciting news.

Wow, lucy, you said it was important, so here I am.

Okay. It’s important. I mean, it’s very, very important as in…

[ Laughs ] As in what? Now, come on. Don’t keep me in suspense.

Okay. As in, ava jerome, this is your golden ticket. This is your chance to unload wicked wyndemere and spooky spoon island, but we have to act fast before the prospective buyer changes their mind.

Come on, robert, this is a textbook example of a misunderstanding. So why don’t we just cut to the chase and drop the charges?

In your dreams, baldwin. We have some very interesting footage, which I’m sure the jury are gonna just love.

What footage? Nothing’s been entered into evidence.

Early days. You should tell your client to cease with the intimidation tactics. We’ve got a lot of leeway on sentencing in this case. Now, get out, please.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, I’m not going anywhere until I see this alleged footage.

The only footage you’re gonna see is me throwing you out of my office when it goes viral.

Oh, wait a minute. Hold your horses here. Is the district attorney threatening me?

[ Door opens ]

Gentlemen, if I may, might be a good time to beat a tactical retreat, counselor. You seem to have worn out your welcome.

What an understatement.

Take the hint, scotty. Anything you’re hoping to accomplish here just ain’t gonna happen.

Well, well, well, lady justice herself coming to the rescue of crocodile dundee. Now, there’s a first.

Hi.

Hi. Come in.

Thank you. Wow. Gone all out on the whole “spirit of the season” thing.

Well, it’s my first halloween with charlotte in a while. I figured I should make some effort.

Yeah. Something smells really good.

Yeah, that would be charlotte. She’s inspired in her new kitchen. That and a newfound rivalry with jake weber’s little brother has lit a competitive fire.

Oh. I’m sure she’ll accomplish whatever she sets her mind to.

-Anna.

-Hi.

You’re just in time. Do you want to be my guinea pig?

Okay? With all due respect, counselor, you’ve made your argument, the D.A. Is not having it. Time to exit stage left. What she said. Ahh, I know when I’m being double-teamed, but my wallet is already fat. All you’re doing is wasting the taxpayers’ money. Since when did you ever care about anyone but yourself? Nehh.

[ Laughs ] Why do you let him get to you? History. Besides, you give him an inch, he’s gonna take a mile and a quarter anyway. Only in days that end in a “Y.” Cheers. Thank you for being my noble wingman. Anytime. So, to what do I owe the pleasure? I am making pumpkin bars. The first batch just came out of the oven. Sounds really good. I didn’t realize you were a baker. Oh, I’m not, but aiden, jake’s brother, sure is. Jake always brings his amazing creations to school, so I thought I’d try it before my friends come over. You guys having a party? Not really. We’re all meeting here before going trick-or-treating. Papa is gonna drive us and then drop us off so no one from school sees us with a chaperon. Right. I see what you did there. That’s good consideration. I’m thinking I should maybe go and buy myself some candy, just in case there’s any trick-or-treaters at my door. At the hotel? Oh, no. That’s why I’m here. I’m no longer staying at the metro court. I’m taking over maxie’s flat. Georgie’s old apartment? You’re kidding. When did this happen? Happened this morning. It’s felicia’s idea. And then when I went and had a look, it just… it just seemed right, you know? Papa, isn’t this great? Oh. Congratulations, anna. I’m so glad you have a place of your own. Thanks. There’s the granny I know. Godmother of the quartermaine clan. To what do we owe the honor of this visit? I just came to see leo’s costume. Oh, what’s he gonna be? Albert einstein. Good choice. He’s the smart one in this house. Is that a general dig or meant just for me? Look, mother told me about your gift of deception. I gather I’d be stupid to pass it up. You could do worse. I don’t want it. Why not? You seem to be happy there. Oh, so you noticed. Me surrounded by my best friends, working on a project we loved until you poisoned it by blackmailing me to betray them. But you’ll be the boss, giving them incentive to mend fences. Problem solved. Friends again. Wow. You really know nothing about friendship. Maybe not, but I know about family and loyalty… and the sacrifices we make to take care of one another. Is math class over? Shh! Solved it! Aah! God. Drats! Congratulations, kid.

[ Sighs ] Mm. See, I knew money was in math!

[ Laughs ] Oh, man, that one. He’s a wonder, I’m telling you. He rattled off the heights of all of the tallest buildings all over the world. And I hate to tell you, and I’m very sorry, but you’re gonna have to take him to play the banjo at the top of the burj khalifa. I thought knowing the length of the brooklyn bridge was impressive. You okay? Lucy, you are a miracle. Wyndemere and spoon island, they have their charms, but they’re hardly the maldives, you know. And people with the means to buy a private island typically are drawn to warmer climates. So how in the world did you find somebody interested? Well, you don’t have to act so shocked, because I have kept my finger on the pulse of the high-end real-estate market. So I just picked up the phone, you know, put the word out. And given my track record, the referrals started rolling in. I just had to pick the most promising one. Huh. Well, so who is it? Who wants to buy spoon island? Cyrus: I like what you’ve done to the place. And this decor really captures the holiday season. Get out.

[ Laughs ] Carly, don’t be so inhospitable. This is my place, and you’re not welcome here. I just thought with our history, you’d at least hear me out. What do you want? A job. Are you serious? I have experience as a cook. From the prison kitchen detail? I mean, that’s not what we do here. Touché. Many incarcerated do learn valuable skills in prison. However, I’ve been cooking since my youth when I had to fend for myself. I was living out of my car… yeah, okay, look. That’s touching. If you have to impress your parole officer by getting a job, you’re barking up the wrong tree because you will not be working here. I never expected you to be someone who would discriminate against ex-cons. I mean, your beau, drew, will be one eventually. Half the people I care about have rap sheets. So you being an ex-con is not why you’re not gonna be working here. It’s because I know what you are. You’re a monster. When you’re ready to begin tre I don’t need a caretaker, tracy. Especially not one with your manipulative tactics. Yeah, I loved working at deception, but it’s not my passion! Passion doesn’t pay the bills, and the ups and downs of the music business — mostly downs — will not support you in the style to which you have become accustomed. I can make sacrifices if I had to. Ha! Been there, done that. Thought I could subsist on the great love I had for a pauper. Didn’t end well. I’m not you, and money’s not everything. No, but it’s far from irrelevant. And you would be foolish to think otherwise. I’m fine. Sure about that? Because it looks like you’ve seen a ghost. We were married, right? Yes, we were. Was that at the brooklyn bridge? No, it was at saint ignatius. But after the wedding, we went to the top of one of the towers of the brooklyn bridge. I…I have to go. Huh. Where’s eddie going? I have no idea. Double or nothing? Oh-ho! You’re on, kid. Watch out. They’re hot. I don’t want you to get burned. Mmm. That’s delicious. Really good. Not too sweet. Nice texture. I’m so glad. Those really are good. Thank you. That’s delicious, actually. I think aiden’s gonna be impressed. Well, that’s the plan. There’s another batch in the oven. They could be a housewarming gift for your new place. Thank you. Yeah. Your new place that I had no idea was even on the horizon. I know. It all came about because I needed a caffeine transfusion. Uh, because I needed some coffee and I met with felicia at kelly’s, and she said that maxie was subletting her apartment because she and the kids are moving in to a new house.

[ Smoke alarm beeping ] Wait, what is that? It’s a smoke alarm. Charlotte! Oh. Papa, the oven’s on fire. Oh. Oh. Let us deal with it. Don’t worry, darling.

[ Beeping continues ] I have a pair of tickets to a fundraiser for a cause near and dear to my heart — animal advocacy. And I was toying with the idea of asking you, but ever since that last time, I just don’t — say no more. I am in. Oh. So where? When? Wh-what’s the dress? Oh. Cocktail attire? May– tux? Maybe a tux.

[ Stammering ] Oh, yeah. A holding company? That’s the impressive buyer that you “selected”? Just a faceless llc?

[ Clears throat ] Well, that’s how it’s done these days. Important buyers use holding companies. And did you verify this company’s financials? Because just because they made the offer of the $25 million asking price doesn’t mean they have the cash to back it up. Right. Well, I am in the final stages of verifying all their assets. Okay. You know what? If they don’t put the whole amount in an escrow account, there’s no deal. Okay. Do you understand we could lose this sale? Because putting the whole amount in escrow is not standard practice. I’m not gonna get myself mired in some drawn-out real-estate mess. Okay. What you need to understand is sellers of private islands in upstate new york, they can’t really be too picky. Hmm. But I’m not just any seller. And I can afford to wait for the buyer who meets my exact terms. So, lucy, if you want your big, fat commission, you will get this buyer to put up the whole asking price or there’s no deal. Wait. Where are you going? Come on, come on. No, lucy. People and places.

[ Sighs ] I am loving the enthusiasm, robert. Yes, definitely a tie. In fact, black tie. Ahh! I kill a tux! I…[ Laughs ] I’ve seen you in a tux and, yes, yes, you do. Alright, I’m off. That’s enough for now. Wait, wait, wait. You’re gonna leave me in suspense? Suspense is the spice of life, robert. Details to follow. Oh. Tux. Oh, a tux. Tux. Ooh, ahh. Here we go. Freddy’s formals. 555… 0166. Yeah. Would this be freddy’s formals? Okay. What time do you close? I understand your position, carly. But you should know I’ve turned over a new leaf. I’m here to set your mind at ease. At ease? Yeah. I was there. I held the line while sonny was gone, and I protected our territory from you. Oh, that white dress you wore. I remember that very well. Remember this. I know who you are. You’re a predator and you’re dangerous, and those spots don’t change. So you can walk around town telling everyone that you found the lord, but I know better. You’re lying in wait and you are seeking out vulnerability. But that’s not going to happen here. So you can take your phony humility and your sob story and get the hell out, because kelly’s is off limits. You are every bit the fierce woman I remember. Oh, my god. That hasn’t changed. But I have. Ask drew. That cyrus you describe, he would have let drew die. But I saved him. Farewell, carly. We’re traveling all across america, talking to people about their hearts. Brook lynn, I didn’t do all this to sabotage your friendships. I worry about you. I never asked you to worry. You don’t have a choice. You have no stake in elq. And we have all seen firsthand what the music business did to your mother. Years of hard work and nothing to show for it. Excuse me. My mother has overseen four grammy-nominated albums and countless national and international tours. Oh, well, I’ll be sure to look all that up when I surf the net. Look, the point is… the truth is, I want you to have something real, something stable, something lasting. That’s deception. And, yes, maybe I let my disdain for lucy coe color my approach. You think? But everything I did was to secure your future. Look, I get it. In your own twisted tracy way, you think what you’re doing is best, but it’s not. Accepting your gift would be like declaring myself and my dreams a failure. It would rob me of any confidence I have, confidence I see in you. Something I am still trying to build. Do not sabotage me. Sabotaging you is the last thing I want.

[ Sighs ]

[ Mumbles ] Da, da, da, da, da, da.

[ Strumming guitar ]

Oh, oh

uh, huh pause the timer. I’ll be right back. How could I be so stupid? Turning on the broiler. Don’t worry about it. It was just a minor kitchen disaster. It’s not like you burned the house down. At least the first batch of pumpkin bars turned out okay. Charlotte, valentin, please come in. Thank you for seeing us on such short notice, kevin. It’s my pleasure. Charlotte’s family. Full disclosure, this was actually my idea. Charlotte’s had a difficult year, and we’re kind of navigating it alone. It would be nice to have somebody she could tell everything to, so… alright. Great. I’ll just be waiting outside. Shall we have a seat?

[ Sighs ] So what do you think? You feel comfortable talking to me?

[ Knock on door ] Uh, if this is you, baldwin, I swear it’ll be manslaughter. Come in! Great. Hi. Hi, sweetie. What are you doing? Off to save the world? Uh, no. I’m off to find a tuxedo. Well, the last one finished up with a bullet hole in the lapel. Oh, it happens. I went back to the tailor in london, and I’m still waiting for a bit. What’s up? Well, I just sublet maxie’s apartment… mm-hmm. …And I’m — I’m wondering if you can help me move. Mm.

[ Chuckles ] Anna, everything you possess in the world went up in smoke. What exactly are we…moving? If you’re taking an antidepress

the siren of the sea

I know she’s out there beckoning me

and I wonder

who could she be? You still got it, eddie. Brook lynn, the confidence and poise and smarts you’ve developed, that’s all you. Nobody can take that away. I-I want to build you up. I don’t want to break you down. I’m sure you believe that. But in this family, nothing comes without strings. Even when we’re giving, we’re usually taking. We’re flawed. Most people are. Actually, it’s what keeps things interesting. Interesting is exhausting. I just want something mundane and predictable, a little peace and quiet in this house. That’s never gonna happen. Uh, hiya, lucy. Hey. So what’s so important that you had to drag me away from my important business? And…give me back my pen. What is so important about the pen? I don’t know where it is. It had bad mojo. I think I threw it in the bushes at the quartermaines. Maybe yuri has it. Who’s yuri? You know what? This is exactly why I bailed on the cutthroat real-estate business. Fussy sellers, slimy buyers. And they just want more and more. You know what? I try so hard to keep the peace. I try to broker the peace, but I can’T. All I want to do is end up with my cut. You know, lucy, you got to dial “r” for real-estate lawyer. If you want to dial me, then go to “t” because I’m a trial lawyer. I know that. That’s not what I want. Listen to me. Listen carefully. Look at me. Look at me. Please, pal. I need you to help me break that agreement I made with tracy.

[ Sighs ] Mama carly!

[ Gasps ] Oh, my goodness, look at you. We’re a little bit ahead of schedule. I hope that’s okay. Oh, it’s perfect, it’s perfect. Let me see your costume. This is amazing. Spin. Oh. It’s great. Hey, do you want to be the first to decorate a pumpkin cookie? Yes, please. Come on, come on, let me show you. Look, we have all of these. This is, like, frosting. You can decorate with sprinkles here, and you can take the plastic off here since you’re the first one. Go for it. Okay? She seems to be doing great. Yeah. Yeah. She’s okay. She’s very excited about this party. She didn’t even mention trick-or-treating. That’s good. Yeah, yeah, it’ll ease my mind knowing that she’s here and, uh, well out of harm’s way.

[ Robert sighs ] This… this… put it down now. Oi. …Was not what I was expecting. I know. It’s heavier than I thought. Robin was holding on to it for me. Yes. It got stuck in her storage somehow when she moved. And I’ve been meaning to go through it for years. What’s in it? Relics, really. Leftovers from a life I’d rather not dig up. It’s just personal paperwork from my early years at the wsb — there’s files and journals and even draft mission reports. What I’m hoping is maybe there’s a clue in there that could help me find who it is that’s targeting me at the wsb. So… what are you looking for? Key. I know. It’s typical. I think I’ve lost the key to this apartment. Charlotte, I want to assure you that our conversations are confidential. Whatever we talk about in here is privileged information. Anything? Mm-hmm. Does that mean you won’t tell papa what we talk about? Well, I might give him my general findings. For instance, if I think you’re under significant stress or you need additional support, I might tell him that. But the details of what we discuss in here, that stays in this room. And I meant what I said. You’re family. My only goal is to help you. And if you’re uneasy about it, it’s fine. I can always recommend someone else. No, no, I’ll talk to you. It’s okay. But it’s not like there’s a big secret or anything. Papa’s just overthinking things. I did miss him while I was away, but… nothing terrible happened at boarding school. Well, why don’t we start there? Tell me about your experience at boarding school. ( )Scared of a little nina and sonny are bringing donna, you said? Yes. They’re gonna take avery home with them. Both girls are gonna be spending the night. Nice. You know, it’s too bad, really. Wyndemere would have made the perfect backdrop for a halloween party. Just the right amount of spooky. Oh, it really would. I mean, once they’re old enough to not have nightmares, maybe when they’re, like, 13 or 10. Oh. [ Laughs ] No, no. I’m hoping that wyndemere will be someone else’s problem long before then. Lucy, there’s no such thing as an undo button when it comes to signed contracts. I know, I know, I just can’t take it. I really cannot take tracy having 51% of deception and she is sabotaging my creative vision. I have to do something. I want to get her out. I got to get her out. Well, what are you gonna do about that? Me? You’re the smarty-pants lawyer. You have all the legal expertise. There has to be something like — wait a minute. What about a loophole? Some sort of loophole that we didn’t see or the font. You know what? I bet that contract was not written in the right kind of font. Or what about this? There was none of that blue paper. You know, that stuff on the back of the pages that’s supposed to be there? Lucy. Lucy. Come on, man, you got to get into 20th century. All of that went out with electronic signing. And if — and it’s a big if — what if you could nullify the contract, tracy would just reinstate the lawsuit and deception would go down as fast as the titanic did!

[ Sighs ] Over my dead body. I’m so sorry. I just don’t know what happened to the key. I must have dropped it in the chaos of moving. Happens to the best of us. Make sure to return that after you get a copy. Oh, I will. Thank you so much. Thank you. Need help with that? Yes. No. We’re good. Thank you though. I really appreciate it. Yeah. Okay. Bye. Okay. Great. Shall we? Oh. Of course.

[ Grunts ] There you go. Can you go in? This is heavy. Okay. Can you go straight back? Yeah, yeah. Alright. So I made pumpkin bars for my friends. Hey, you two. How was your chat? Oh, she was just telling me her trick-or-treating plans for this evening. Papa’s the chauffeur. Well, have a wonderful time. And I’d like to continue this next week, if that’s alright. How do you feel about that, ma petite? Works for me. You’re easy to talk to. We’ll sort out the details later. Sounds good. Happy halloween. Bye, kevin. Shingles. Some describe it as an inteplay the rest for me. No can do. Yeah, it’s — that’s all she wrote. Oh. Come on. You and me, we go way back. There’s no need for stage fright. Lois, seriously, it’s a work in progress, and literally, it’s only half baked. Oh, you’re in the zone. Yeah. Okay. I don’t want to mess with your mojo. No, no, no mojo. Just a creative dead end. Oh. Well, you got something there, so don’t trash it. Easier said than done. Listen. The same fire that got you there will also see you through. Okay? Trust me. Leo: Aunt lolo, time’s ticking! Oh, I forgot. Sudoku showdown. Got to go. Fine. I’ll back off. No more pressure from me. I appreciate that. But will you think about my offer? Thanks, but no thanks. I’m on a new course. One you inadvertently helped to set, and I really want to make a go of it. And I have a new musical protégé. I signed a rising star named blaze. Heard of her. You have? Yeah. And I have every confidence that you are gonna make her a household name. Well, I’m gonna do my best. Of that, I’m sure. You know, lucy, tracy’s always had the upper financial hand. That’s why you agreed to the deal in the first place. I know. I’m very well aware. I know. Well, now, so she can just ride it out until deception is bankrupt. No, I can’t let that happen, not for maxie and for sasha. You know, though, I am quite the dynamo at real estate, I could always pivot back to that. Like a rat! No, no. Sinking ship. Oh, no! No rats, no sinking ship. I would never do that to them. I mean, maxie needs deception for her future. And that ridiculous gladys almost took everything sasha has. Well, why don’t you just become a silent partner? There’s no way I’m gonna be a silent partner. What? And I’m gonna let tracy run my company? I don’t think so. I won’t let that happen. With the last breath in my body, I will not let that… happen. What? You’re gonna poison her muffin? You’re better off poisoning her cognac. I know, but as tempting as it is to poison her, I think I just got it. I’ve got it. Okay, think about it. I do not need to claw 51% back. Do I? No, if I can wiggle just a teeny tiny 2% out of tracy’s greedy hands, then I am the major shareholder again, and deception is mine. All mine. Mommy, can I have your phone so that I can take a picture of my cookie? Yes. Yeah. Of course. Here you go. Thank you.

[ Laughs ] Isn’t it lovely how kids can find joy in the simplest things? And we adults are.. burdened by adult things. Adult things? Like selling wyndemere? Yeah. Yeah, like selling wyndemere. You know, I have to move on, and I can’t do that if I’m anchored to that place and after what happened with austin’s cousin mason, I am determined to sell. I wonder what kind of buyer you can get for that place. I have no idea, but lucy assures me that she’s found one. Really? Who? Mm. That’s vague. But if lucy can get confirmation that the buyer has all the money, then wyndemere and its torturous memories will be in my past. Okay. Whoa.

[ Exhales sharply ] Someone’s a bit of a packrat. You never know what tidbit of information could come in handy down the line. And to think, in this day and age, all that fits on a thumb drive. And could be hacked into in a heartbeat. You realize that this stash is completely off the grid, and no one has any idea that this information even exists. Are you sure about that? Subject — charlotte cassadine. Session one. Charlotte displays a maturity that belies her years. She is both insightful and evasive. She has already mastered the art of camouflage, presenting only what she believes people want to see and hear. Ugh, it still stinks in here. I don’t want my friends smelling burnt pumpkin bars. Don’t worry, I’ll open the windows in the kitchen. I’ll air the place out. Listen, thanks for meeting with kevin today. I know that wasn’t your first choice, and I appreciate it. A deal’s a deal, papa. I kept my side of the bargain because I know you’ll keep yours. I love you… a lot. Papa? What? Papa…I’m sorry. What are you sorry for? For… …burning the pumpkin bars. You worry too much. Charlotte: “Anna devane is not who she seems. Do not trust her.” Kevin: She is anchored to her father — a relationship that seems almost…symbiotic. He is very protective of her, and in return, she feels a great responsibility to protect him.

THIS STILL NEEDS SOME EDITING!

[gentle music]

[inhales sharply]

[laughs]

Mm, now, that’s a hell of a way to wake up.

Mm, well, I can think of a better one if you’re up for it.

Really?

Mm-hmm.

With you, Gabi, I’m up for anything. Why are you in such a good mood?

I’m always in a good mood.

[laughs] Sorry.

That’s not funny. OK, fine, yes, today I am in an exceptionally good mood. But that’s because today’s the day we put our plan into action.

Yes, we are finally gonna get Li Shin.

[dramatic music]

Thank you again, Dr. Evans, for seeing me on such short notice.

Well, I know how eager you are to get started,::, on our first formal session.

I am. I’m ready to do whatever it takes to get over Gabi.

Hey, hope I didn’t wake you.

No, no, you didn’t. I’m actually already at the pub. My dad suggested I take an early shift, get some work done before school. What’s going on?

Oh, I just had to tell you about this dream I had last night. You were in it.

You–you dreamt about me?

Yeah, it was completely crazy. I asked you to help me get Johnny away from Chanel. And then Chanel ended up wilding out and killing you.

Oh, no. Poor me.

Yeah, poor you. And then she tried to kill me. She was, like, totally furious with me for going after her boyfriend.

[suspenseful music]

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

Mm, revenge is sweet.

Mm, and ever so satisfying.

And you, even more so.

High praise.

So any ideas on how to make Li’s shares ours?

Well, just what we were talking about yesterday. We were able to secure Kristen’s shares by prying them from her grubby little hands by threatening to blackmail her about, you know, her abusing her daughter.

Hmm, which involved proof that we manufactured.

Yeah, well, you’re not having second thoughts, are you?

[inhales deeply] No.

OK, good, because even if your conscience is slightly off about Kristen, but you’re definitely more in, like, ruthless mode about Li, right?

%. Son of a bitch tried to kill me.

Right, so he deserves to be punished. And if we happen to profit from it-

Even better.

Right, so we just need proof that he was planning your demise. And then we can–

Force him to fork over his shares.

[chuckles]

Why don’t you tell me about some of your previous relationships, how you felt about-

about the women? You did–you did have serious relationships before you fell in love with Gabi, didn’t you?

[dramatic music]

[sighs] Only one.

OK, tell me about her.

Her name was Xiao-Xing. We met in high school. I know it might seem silly to call going steady a serious relationship.

No, not if it was important to you.

It was. We spent every moment we could together. We’d sneak off during lunch so we could find someplace and be alone. And we’d…talk, and we’d kiss and discuss our future… How we’d–how we’d get married one day and have lots of children. I thought she was my one true love. I thought we’d be together forever.

What happened?

My father happened. He found out how I felt about her, and that was that.

Wow, like you said, pretty crazy dream, both of us getting murdered by a jealous Chanel all because you wanted to make a play for Johnny DiMera. Wait, but you said Chanel tried to kill you too. Did she–did she succeed, or–

Hey, I got to go. Bye.

Hey, sorry to interrupt you.

No, you didn’t. It’s all good. I mean, it was nothing important.

Oh, really? It sounded kind of important. You said some girl was trying to kill you.

Oh, God, no, not really. It was just a dream I had… about this girl from my school who’s, like, super jealous of me.

That sounds kind of serious. Hey, she’s not bullying you or anything like that, right?

Oh, no, not at all. Like I said, she’s just jealous because she thinks her boyfriend is into me.

And is he?

I’m not actually sure.

OK, would you want him to be?

[sighs]

Oh, my goodness, look at that. Perfect timing.

Just the two people we were looking for.

Mm-hmm.

Why is that?

Nicole and I have some– have some news.

EJ and I are getting married… today.

[chuckles]

Tate, I heard you were in town.

Uncle Eric, it’s good to see you, man.

You too. Gosh, and I see my brother has put you to work.

Yeah, remind me not to pull any more fire alarms.

That’s good advice. Hey, I’m sorry about what happened at school, getting kicked out. But coming here, that must be a big change.

Yeah. Yeah, it sucked, to be honest. Low-key, leaving all my friends was a little bit depressing. But…

Yeah, well, I know it’s gonna take some time, but I’m sure you’re gonna make some new friends at Salem High.

Yeah. Yeah, I actually already made one.

Really? That’s great.

Yeah. Yeah, it is. I just–can I be honest with you?

Of course.

I– I kind of want it to be more.

Wait, what? You guys are getting married today?

Wow, that–that– that is some big news.

We’ve been dragging our feet long enough. And this baby will be here before we know it, so…

And we’d rather not add a high chair to the seating chart, so here we are.

Yeah, I mean, wow, this–this is– this is so great, you guys. Dad, I’m–I’m– I’m really happy for you.

Thank you so much, son. Thank you.

Thank you, Johnny. Your blessing means a lot to us. And, honey, we’d love yours too. So what do you say? Are you OK with this?

[dramatic music]

Oh, man, this totally sucks, Holly. I mean, I really wanted to be your boyfriend. But now that our parents are getting married, it’s kind of like we’re siblings, you know, stepbrother and stepsister.

So?

So… don’t you think that might be a little incestuous?

Ew, no. Look, I get that maybe it’s a little weird. But that doesn’t mean we can’t be together. What about Josh and Cher in “Clueless”? They were stepbrother and stepsister.

Former stepbrother and stepsister. Their parents were divorced, remember? Besides, that was a movie. This–this is real life. Otherwise… I would be totally into it.

Holly? Honey, you didn’t answer me. Are you OK with us getting married?

Actually, I’m not. I don’t think it’s such a good idea.

So should we go downstairs and get some breakfast?

I thought we were strategizing.

We are, and I do my best thinking on a full stomach.

Ay, Dios mío, poor hungry baby. OK, listen, how about this? How about we come up with a plan and then I’ll give you a reward?

Why do I get the distinct feeling that that reward’s not gonna be food?

It’s gonna be great. Do you want it or not?

Yeah, definitely.

OK, attaboy, start thinking.

OK, so the best way to get proof that Li was in on the plan to kill me is obviously to get it from one of his coconspirators, right?

Right, right, but the thing is, Harris never saw Li, so we can’t use him.

Right, and Megan’s in the wind, so the best way to get it is to get Li to confess.

Yeah, but Li’s not stupid. I mean, he’s a lot of things. He’s definitely not stupid. He’s gonna know that he’s being played, and we’re gonna have to just be very shrewd.

OK, well, it’s a good thing we know what his Achilles’ heel is.

What’s that?

His obsessive love for you, of course.

[scoffs]

Li, you said that your father found out about your relationship. I’m assuming that you’d been keeping it a secret.

Yes, I was, from him. I was afraid of how he’d react.

And why was that?

Xiao-Xing was working-class. And as you know, our family was not. I knew he’d never approve of my relationship with her. But I never expected him to do what he did.

What did he do?

One day… I was looking for Xiao-Xing. And as I told you, we’d always sneak off during lunch. And that day, it was to this little area behind the math room. And I waited for her. She was late. And when she finally came, she told me that she had to break up with me, that she and her family were moving to a province far away and we’d never see each other again.

[sighs] I– I remember, in that moment, feeling like I couldn’t– I couldn’t breathe. And for days after that, I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t sleep. And my–my father, he eventually became… impatient with my dark mood. And one day, he lost his temper. And he yelled at me, and he berated me, and he told me that I was dishonoring him, all because of a girl who never really cared about me. And that’s when he told me what he did.

What did he do?

He found a note that I had written to her. That’s when he realized the depths of my feelings for her. So he went to her and he told her that if she ended her relationship with me, then he’d offer her father a really good, well-paying job as a foreman in a factory , miles away from where we lived. He said she accepted immediately, that that’s how much our relationship meant to her.

Maybe that wasn’t true. Maybe your–maybe your father just made up that story.

Well… I don’t know, because we never-

we never spoke again, she and I. And after my father told me the truth, he expected me to just get over it, to just get over her. And the truth is, I did. Eventually, I just buried my feelings down for her, never even mentioned her name again.

[scoffs] That is, until now.

So… when you found out what your father had done, that he had deliberately broken up you and Xiao-Xing, how did that make you feel?

[dramatic music]

Powerless. She was the best thing in my life, so sweet and beautiful. My father just took her from me.

I imagine you wanted to make sure that… nothing like that ever happened again.

Well, at the time, I thought it couldn’t happen again, because I would never love anyone the way I loved Xiao-Xing. And I never did… Until…

Gabi.

G–Gabi, right. And when we became involved, I started feeling the same way for her as I had with Xiao-Xing. But also, I–I was afraid that someone would take her from me… Just like my father had with Xiao-Xing.

Someone like?

Stefan.

OK, so–so we prey on Li’s obsession with me and– which, by the way, I did– I pitched that to you. I don’t know if you recall. And we use that weakness to get him to confess.

Except for one thing. Li knows that you hate his guts, so he’s gonna sense that something is up.

Good point.

So maybe we need to take a more… unconventional approach.

How unconventional?

Nothing too crazy, maybe something involving a certain asset who could maybe nudge Li in the right direction.

Interesting. And how do we acquire that certain asset?

Hmm.

So this friend who you wish could be more, did you meet her in class? I mean, we’re talking about a her or–

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely a–definitely a her. And no, we met before classes even started. Actually, I met her the first day I got here, in the–in the park.

That was fast. But that’s great. What’s she like?

She’s awesome. She’s awesome. I mean, now that I think about it, you– you probably know her. She’s–she’s Nicole’s daughter, Holly.

You don’t think it’s a good idea that EJ and I get married?

No, I don’t.

OK, look, it’s getting late. Maybe you guys can start getting ready.

Yeah. Yes.

Right. Right, we should. And can you do me a favor and run an errand for me after you get changed?

Of course.

Thank you.

OK.

Bye, see ya.

OK, what’s going on? I thought you liked EJ. Don’t you?

No, I do like him, OK?

OK, so then what’s the problem? Why don’t you want us to get married? Sweetheart, you know we’ve been planning this wedding for a while now. I thought you were happy about it. Did something change? Sweetheart, you can talk to me. You know that, right?

It’s because of–

Because of what?

Because of… Eric.

[sighs]

Don’t you worry. The asset has been contacted and should be arriving in Salem any moment.

Oh, really?

Yeah.

How are you so sure about that?

You forget you’re talking to Stefan DiMera here?

[laughs]

OK, OK, maybe that came off a little more unnecessarily arrogant than I had planned. But I am sure because I put out feelers and should be hearing back anytime.

Oh, all right, then, Mr. Stefan DiMera. Speaking of feelers, do you have any idea what we should do while we wait?

I think I could come up with a few ideas.

[both laugh]

So you were afraid that Stefan was going to do exactly what your father had done to you, that he was going to take away your girl.

[dramatic music] So I imagine you did everything in your power to make sure that wouldn’t happen… Which included hiring someone to kill Stefan.

So you think… everything I did to try to keep Gabi, it was because of what happened with my father all those years ago.

I think your obsessive behavior, even though irrational, comes from that early trauma that you suffered, the loss of that. And I think we may have gotten to the core of your problem.

Hey, Steph, it’s me. I just– I’m sorry to bug you. I know you had an early-morning meeting. Yeah, we just didn’t get to see each other this morning, so I thought maybe we could talk.

[knock at door] Call me– call me back if you can. OK, bye.

[chuckles] Hey, EJ, what are you– Come on in. What are you doing? What brings you by?

Well, I’ve been meaning to stop by for ages, see the new place. It’s–ah, it’s quite cozy, isn’t it?

[scoffs] Yeah. Yeah, compared to where you’re living.

[laughs] Well, as long as you are happy here. I would have brought you a housewarming gift, but there was no time. I’m afraid I’ve come on a rather urgent matter.

Is everything OK?

It’s more than OK. In fact, my life is about to change, much for the better, actually.

[sighs]

This is about Eric? That’s why you don’t want me to marry EJ?

Well, I–I mean, you know how much I care about Eric. I have ever since I was, like, a little girl. He was my stepdad, but he felt like my real dad. And I don’t know. I just loved him is all.

Honey, I know you do. And–and he did too. I mean, he still does.

I guess.

Of course he does. And just because I’m not married to him anymore doesn’t mean that you can’t have a relationship. He’s always there for you. You know that, right?

I do. But you guys loved each other so much. It’s, like, childish, I guess. But I always thought you two would get married again one day.

It’s not childish, honey. In fact, I used to think that too. No, but that’s not gonna happen, right, because Eric has moved on with Sloan and I have moved on with EJ. And the three of us, you, me, and EJ and– ooh, and your little brother or sister…

[chuckles] We’re gonna be a family.

So you’re into Holly.

Yeah. Yeah, she’s great. I mean, don’t you think so?

I do. I love that girl. I mean, we–

[chuckles] We spent a lot of time together when I was married to her mother.

Right, yeah, and I was-

I was sad to hear about it when my dad told me about the divorce. You guys seemed like the perfect couple to me.

Yeah. So did– did you ask Holly out?

Oh, no. Nothing’s gonna happen there.

Why not?

[sighs] OK, if I tell you, Uncle Eric, you just got to promise not to say anything, OK? If Holly found out I told you, she’d just– she’d be totally pissed at me.

OK, she’s not in any kind of trouble, is she?

Oh, no. No, no, no, nothing like that. It’s just, she’s into this guy, but he’s totally wrong for her. I mean, for one thing, he’s just, like, way too old for–

[sighs] Wow. I haven’t thought about Xiao-Xing in so many years. But… talking about it today made me feel… better, somehow lighter.

I’m glad.

And maybe now that I understand my behavior with Gabi, the desperation, maybe now I can… finally be free of the hold she’s had over me.

I hope so. You should be so proud of yourself for having the courage to be so open about your feelings, about your pain.

[dramatic music] I hope you continue your therapy. I hope you continue to be as open as you have been today. And I hope you’re determined to drop these destructive patterns that you have.

Oh, I am, Dr. Evans. I’m determined. This whole time, I’ve just been telling myself that I can get over Gabi and I can do it on my own. I was trying to convince myself that that was true. But I know now that it wasn’t. I know I needed help and still do. But today… because of you, for the first time, I actually think I can get over Gabi.

[laughter]

I got to hand it to you, that was a– that was a great way to kill time.

I told you I’m full of ideas.

[sighs] Any word?

Not yet.

Oh, well, then round two?

What, are you trying to kill me? I thought Li was the target, huh?

[phone beeps]

Oh, wait, is that what I think it means?

Oh, pay dirt. All right, no time to waste. Got to go pick up the asset.

OK, go, go, go, go. Go get dressed. Go get that asset.

I’m going to get that asset.

Johnny, hey.

Hey, hey.

You need a table?

How are you? Actually, no, thank you. But I do need something else. Listen, I know it’s a little early in the day, but I was hoping I could get, you know, a tray of sliders, maybe a few pigs in a blanket.

[laughs] Of course. I think we can manage that.

All right.

What’s going on? You having a party?

No. Actually, my– my dad and Nicole are getting married today, so…

OK.

Yeah.

Well, that’s– that’s great. Yeah, Nicole, she always did love those sliders.

Yeah. Yeah, my dad said he just wanted to make sure she had everything she wanted today.

OK, so how many you think you’re gonna need?

Sweetheart, I know how you feel about Eric. But in time, hopefully you’ll have just as close of a relationship with EJ. In the meantime, can you find it in your heart to come to our wedding? I mean, I don’t want to pressure you, but… I would really– be really sad if you didn’t come.

[sighs] Of course I’ll be there, mom. I know this day is really important to you.

Thank you. You know you’re, like, the best daughter in the world, right?

Yeah, you’ve told me only, like, million times.

Well, it bears repeating over and over and over.

[both chuckle] Listen, I have to go because I made some alterations to my dress at that shop at the square. Have to make it a little more baby-bump friendly. So I’m gonna go.

Do you want me to come with you?

No, that’s OK. You can use that time to get ready. Why don’t you wear that green taffeta dress, you know, we got at that little boutique on Magnolia, the name of which I can’t remember, but it’s really pretty?

I was thinking of the black one, actually. We got it at the same place.

Yeah, black one, isn’t that a little, like, you know, fitted and tight?

No, it really isn’t. OK, fine, the green one, whatever.

[chuckles] I will see you at the wedding. Mwah.

Yup, see you at the wedding.

Mm-hmm. Love you.

Love you.

You and Nicole are getting married today?

[laughs] We are. We are. Nothing–nothing extravagant, just a small gathering at the house, just the two of us and Johnny and Holly, of course.

Wait, what about Tony and Anna?

They’re out of town, unfortunately. And of course, I’m not on the best of terms with Stefan and Gabi at the moment.

Oh, yeah, were you ever?

My point is, I would like to have at least one of my brothers there. And I’d be thrilled if it were you. And of course, we’d be delighted to have Stephanie as well.

Yeah, Stephanie and I, we’re not really in the best place right now.

Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. What happened?

We got into a fight. So I’m not really sure what’s gonna happen.

A fight? What–what was it about? Sorry, never mind. None of my business.

No, it’s fine. It’s fine. It’s– you know, it’s Abigail.

Ah.

Stephanie feels threatened by– by me not being able to move on the way she wishes I could. And I still feel attached to Abby or, I don’t know, at least the memory of her. And, you know, I just can’t fully commit to anyone else.

Yeah, I get that.

Yeah. Anyway, like I said, though, she had a– she has an early-morning meeting, and I don’t really know what the rest of her day looks like, So I can’t speak for her. But me, I’m– I’m happy as hell. I’ll be there.

I’m glad. I’m glad. Because honestly, we can’t have it without you.

What do you mean?

We want you to perform the ceremony.

What?

[laughs] Yes.

You want me to marry you and Nicole?

Yes. As you know, I’m not a religious man. And honestly, I think a priest would have some reluctance setting foot in my house, let alone consecrate my marriage.

You got a point there. What about a justice of peace?

Too impersonal. This is an important day, and I want to be surrounded by people we love. And even more than that…

[sighs] All right, it’s my wedding day. I’m allowed to be sappy, so I’m going to tell you just this once.

OK.

[sighs]

[dramatic music] I admire you, Chad. I know it’s a bit odd. I’m the older brother, after all. But the fact of the matter is, I look at you as a role model. I know we’ve had our ups and downs, but… when all is said and done… You are the type of man that I wish I was.

Oh-ho-ho. I’m touched. I really am. And it would be an honor to marry you guys.

Excellent. Excellent. Well, everything is set. Now all I need is my bride.

My dad and Nicole are getting married today.

Eric. Eric.

[sighs]

Hey, Holly.

Oh, hey, Johnny.

Wow, you look great.

You think so?

Yeah, that’s a great dress.

Oh, thanks.

Yeah. Listen, what was-

what was all that about earlier? You really–you’re not cool with the wedding?

Not exactly.

Why not? I mean, why don’t you want my dad to marry your mom?

[phone ringing]

Why are you calling me? What do you want, Gabi?

Li, I need your help, please. I’ve been kidnapped!

Brooke: No. No, I’m sure I didn’t hear you right.

Rj: I’m sorry, mom. I really– I wanted to tell you and dad. I did, but granddad, he– he insisted he didn’t want anyone to know.

Brooke: So, this is really– really true? Eric is– he’s dying?

Donna: Okay. Okay. Why don’t we just sit down for a minute? It’s been a really big day.

Eric: An amazing day.

Donna: Yes. Yes, an amazing day. But also lots of stress and lots of pressure. I– I’m sure you– you must be tired.

Eric: No. No, quite the opposite. I mean, I’m so– I’m so excited. I really am. I’m all fired up. Wow.

Donna: Okay. Okay. Okay, let’s just sit down for a minute. Okay? Please?

Eric: No, no, no. Donna, I think I did it. I think I did it. I think– I think I sold out every piece. I could see it in the eyes of the buyers, multiple bids on, uh, on each gown. This is my finest collection. It really is. The best. I think I beat ridge.

Ridge: Hey, carter. It’s not what best friends do, right? Come on. You said one collection sold out, okay?

Carter: It was close, but one designer was victorious.

Ridge: You’re not gonna tell me? What do you? My– my dad is my dad. He’s an icon. He’s– he’s done amazing things long, long ago. That’s history. If we want to move forward with this company, it’s got to be me. So… what do we have?

Brooke: Rj, no. No, it can’t be. You must have misunderstood or something.

Rj: No. I– I wish I had. He’s been sick and– and it’s been getting worse. I’m sorry, the doctor said he only had a few months left to live. But that’s– that’s why he keeps calling this his grand finale. That’s why he wants so bad to win today.

Katie: All right. Follow me. We will finalize your bids. And this is amazing, I recognize it from a winter collection. Oh, look, this is my sister, donna.

Mr. Lords: What a remarkable show.

Buyer 1: Oh, we were just telling eric how honored we were to be included. One of the best shows I’ve ever witnessed.

Donna: Oh, thank you. Thank you. It was our pleasure to have you in attendance.

Buyer 2: The collection was truly inspired.

Donna: Thank you.

Katie: All right. Just follow me this way. We are gonna finalize your bids. Get you a little forrester swag.

Luna: It was remarkable.

Donna: Yeah. Yeah, it really was, wasn’t it? But we still don’t know who won, ridge or eric?

Ridge: You’re not gonna give me the numbers? You’re not gonna tell me? Don’t make me call jeresa and take that necklace back.

[ Carter laughing ] All right. And there it is. I won. I beat my dad.

Eric: We should know the results by now. I mean, it’s a surprise we haven’t heard from ridge.

Donna: Oh, I’m sure he’s just licking his wounds.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Losing for somebody like ridge is going to be a big bruise to his oversized ego.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Yeah.

Eric: Yeah.

Katie: So, how’s it feel? Your first show under your belt?

Luna: I mean, it’s– it’s pretty surreal to be a part of this. Like, from eric’s design team to helping you and your staff and it was definitely an organizational feat.

Katie: Well, it was a team effort.

Luna: It was awesome to be a part of it. But seriously, you are like a machine.

Katie: Well, it wasn’t hard. The designs were breathtaking. All I had to do was frame the narrative and let ridge and eric shine. Rj deserved a little bit of that sparkle too.

Luna: Yeah, I’m– I’m really proud of him.

Katie: Picking up on that. You really care about him. You know, don’t you?

Luna: Uh, uh, about eric?

Katie: Yeah.

Luna: Yeah. Um, rj confided in me about that.

Katie: It’s pretty big.

Luna: Yeah, I mean, you know, it’s been really hard for him to keep the secret. He loves his granddad and he wants to do right by him, but, you know, I also know that he feels really guilty for not telling his parents about it, especially his father.

Brooke: Oh, I can’t believe this. I can’t believe that eric is dying.

Rj: It’s been awful. It– it– it has just been so hard not to just tell you and dad. I…

Brooke: Honey, it’s okay.

Rj: It’s not.

Brooke: I understand. You were just taking care of your grandfather and that is admirable.

Rj: No, but every– every single time that dad was in there, he was asking me, “is my dad okay? Is granddad, okay?” I was– I was fighting not to tell him. I was trying so hard because he– I’m sorry, is my dad gonna hate me for not telling him? I should have told him, right?

Brooke: First of all, your father is never going to hate you. You can’t keep this a secret. You’ve got to tell your father. He deserves to know about his dad, okay?

Rj: Okay. I’m sorry, mom. I’m sorry.

Ridge: I won. I beat my dad on the runway. That’s his domain. Do you know what that means? My vision for forrester is correct.

Carter: Yes, it is. And I’m sorry for making you squirm, but it was really fun to watch, man. Congratulations. It’s a hard-fought battle, but you earned it.

Ridge: Yeah. It was a battle. I didn’t want that. He wanted it. He pushed it and he got it and he lost. And if it’s okay, I’m– I wanna be the one to tell him.

Carter: Ridge.

Ridge: Just look, I’m gonna do it the right way. I respect him. I love him. But I think it has to be me, all right? Hey.

Brooke: Hi. We need to talk to you, ridge. Carter, could you give us a minute?

Carter: Of course. Good job today, man.

Ridge: Actually, I was about to go down to the showroom and talk to dad about the fashion show–

Brooke: Okay. That can wait.

Ridge: It can wait? You don’t want to know who won?

Brooke: Um, something more important that we need to discuss.

Ridge: More important than that? I get– what?

Rj: Dad.

Ridge: Okay, okay. All right. Okay. All right. All right. I won. And I’m sorry, man. I– I know the work you did with granddad was amazing and your time will come, but not right now. Right now, it’s me. And, um, I would have been happy for you, if it were you. But can you be happy for me?

Brooke: Of course, we’re happy for you.

Rj: No, of course. Yes, your line was beautiful, but–

Ridge: Thank you.

Rj: No, we need to talk though.

Ridge: Come on. Can’t it wait? I want to talk to dad and see what he’s gonna say.

Rj: No! No! It can’t wait. We need– we need to talk now, okay? There’s no more time for this.

Ridge: Ah, dude. What’s going on here?

Brooke: Honey, do you want to tell him?

Ridge: What? Tell me what?

Rj: That– that I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry. Dad. Granddad’s dying.

Katie: I can see the toll this is taking on rj. Keeping this secret from his parents. I mean, even before I knew it was going on, I just chalked it up to nerves. First time designing, but what he’s doing for his grandfather, supporting him the way he is. It’s pretty incredible.

Luna: Yeah. I mean, he’s– he’s a really good guy. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone like him.

Katie: Well, he’s gonna need your support over the next few months. It’s not gonna be easy on him. It’s not gonna be easy on any of us. I mean, eric’s presence has always just seemed like, given. I can’t really imagine life without him.

Luna: Well, I’m gonna do whatever I can to be there and support rj.

Katie: Good. And we’ll do whatever we can to support eric. It just seems so unreal. But eric is gonna know how much we love him. I’ll make sure of it.

Eric: This is taking so long. Why– why is it taking? It shouldn’t take this long?

Donna: Okay. Okay. First of all, it has not been that long. And– and ridge is carter’s best friend. Of course, he’s gonna share the results with him first.

Eric: Yeah. I mean, what if– what if ridge wins? I mean, I’m just trying to be realistic here. I mean, ridge is a wonderful designer. He’s one of the– he’s one of the best in the world.

Donna: Oh, and you’re not?

Eric: Yes. Yeah, but he put on a really good show.

Donna: Eric…

Eric: I mean, what if he wins? What if he pulls it off?

Donna: No. Hey. Are you okay?

Eric: I’m okay.

Ridge: What are you talking about? My dad is dying. What is that?

Brooke: Ridge, I’m sorry. It’s a shock–

Ridge: No, no, no. Hang on, hang on. All right. Um, why are you saying these things?

Brooke: Just tell him what you told me?

Rj: Okay. Grandad, he came to me and he asked me to help him to design because he was struggling. He– he was having these tremors in his hand and he wasn’t able to design. He said that it was carpal tunnel or arthritis. And so, I just– I wanted to help him and– and he could mentor me, and–

Ridge: Okay. I heard what you said, right. So, how did it come from that to dying? I– I don’t get it.

Rj: Well, the symptoms– his symptoms got worse. Sorry. And– and the doctor said they couldn’t figure out what’s wrong with him.

Ridge: Okay. Worse how? Tell me. What–

Rj: He said that it was– it was T.I.A. Strokes. And then… I’m sorry, dad, he started coughing up blood.

Ridge: And this is the first I’m hearing about this? Right now?

Brooke: Eric didn’t want him to say anything to anybody.

Rj: I’m sorry. I wanted to. I wanted to. I sat– I stood right here and I wanted to tell you, but I couldn’t because I didn’t want to betray him. He said he didn’t want anybody to know about it. But, especially you.

Ridge: Me? My father didn’t want his son to know?

Rj: Well, he said he didn’t want anyone’s pity and– and that he wouldn’t be able to stand it.

Ridge: Oh, okay.

Rj: But dad, that this– but this– this is why he wanted to complete this last collection so bad and– and why he–

Ridge: I got it!

Rj: I’m sorry.

Ridge: All right. So my father, the man who’s given me everything, he’s dying. That’s– that’s where we are. Yes? Is that it?

Rj: I’m sorry. I’m–

Donna: Eric, please. You, listen, you’ve got to take care of yourself. You are not well, and you cannot get yourself so worked up.

Eric: Worked up. Worked up?

Donna: Yes.

Eric: Donna, you saw this. You saw this collection. You saw it as some of the finest work of my life. This– this is my finest achievement, my greatest achievement. But this could easily be my– the final designs of my life. If I don’t win this, it’s over. All of it. I’m afraid that, uh, I’ll lose the excitement and– and the anticipation and the thrill of watching buyers bid on these– these wonderful pieces that we do. Oh, god. Let alone getting my office back. If I– if I don’t win this, it’s all over.

Donna: Stop. Stop talking like that. Okay, I can’t stand–

Eric: All right. All right. All right. Listen.

Donna: …Talking like that.

Eric: It’s all right. I understand that this is probably my last collection. I– I accept it. I– I’ve come– I’ve come to a peaceful place for that. But I– I just can’t wait for the end– the final tally. That’s what I wanna know. I wanna know how this ends up. Uh, uh, have you heard anything? Have you heard anything from ridge and from carter about this?

Katie: No, no, not anything yet.

Luna: Yeah. He said it should take some time.

Eric: It shouldn’t take this much time. It’s taking too long. Come on. Let’s– let’s– I don’t want to wait. Let’s find out– let’s find out what’s going on. Let’s go to the office. Come on.

Ridge: My dad is dying. Well, that doesn’t seem real, does it?

Brooke: No, it doesn’T. He is the backbone of this family and I don’t know what we’re gonna do without him.

Rj: Dad, I’m so sorry. There were so many times that I came so close to tell– we stood right here and I– I wanted to tell you, but I could hear him pleading with me in my head not to tell you and I just didn’t wanna– I just didn’t want to let him down. You understand that, right?

Ridge: Yeah. Sure. How long does he have? Do you know?

Rj: The doctor says he has a few months.

Brooke: This was a great burden for you to carry, sweetheart, but you did right by your grandfather. You need to know that.

Rj: I– I don’t know if I’ve done right by my father, mom.

Ridge: We’re fine. Um, so this is why you worked with granddad? This is why?

Rj: Yes, I needed him. He needed me. I mean, you know how I felt about the family business when I got back to L.A. He– he made me realize I have a passion for this, dad. I love this. I– I wanna do this for the rest of my life and I wouldn’t have that if– if he didn’t show me that. I don’t know how I’m gonna be able to repay him for that.

Ridge: I’m proud of you.

Rj: I love him.

Ridge: Well, we all love him, son. We all do.

Brooke: We are strong and we are resilient and we will get through this together, as a family.

Rj: Dad, you– you get now, why he– you know why he wanted to win the fashion challenge so bad, right? It– it was just because he wanted to solidify his legacy. That’s why he wanted to do this, the whole grand finale.

Eric: Well, here you all are. In my office. Why am I not surprised? Well, I assume from your silence that you know who won the fashion challenge? And I can see from the look on your faces that you know.

Ridge: Yeah, I know.

Eric: So, what’s the count, ridge? Who won this thing? You or me?

Update written by Joseph

Gabi wakes Stefan up in bed. Stefan asks why she’s in such a good mood. Gabi claims she always is which Stefan laughs at. Gabi then admits that today she’s in an exceptionally good mood because today is the day they put their plan in to action. Stefan declares that they are finally going to get Li Shin.

Li returns to Marlena’s office and thanks her again for seeing him on such short notice. Marlena knows how eager he is to get started on their first formal session. Li declares that he’s ready to do whatever it takes to get over Gabi.

Holly calls Tate and tells him that she had a dream that he was in. Holly then explains that in her dream, she asked Tate to help her get Chanel away from Johnny and then Chanel killed him and tried to kill her for going after her boyfriend. Johnny then walks in to the living room.

Stefan and Gabi talk about revenge being sweet. Stefan asks if Gabi has any ideas on how to make Li’s shares theirs. Gabi reminds him that they pried Kristen’s shares by threatening her with blackmailing over abusing her daughter through manufactured proof. Stefan assures that he’s ruthless when it comes to Li for trying to kill him. Gabi says that Li needs to pay and if they can prove he tried to take Stefan out, they can force him to fork over his shares.

Marlena asks Li to tell her about previous relationships. Marlena then asks if Li did have previous relationships before falling in love with Gabi. Li informs her that he only had one, so Marlena asks about her. Li responds that she was someone he met in high school and he knows it might be silly to call that a serious relationship, but it was important to him. Li recalls spending every moment they could together and they talked about their future plans. Li admits he thought that she was his one true love and they would be together forever. Marlena asks what happened. Li responds that his father found out and that was that.

Tate jokes about Holly’s nightmare being crazy with Chanel killing them both over her trying to get with Johnny. Holly tells him that she has to go and hangs up. Johnny says he’s sorry to interrupt her. Holly says that it was nothing important. Johnny questions her saying some girl tried to kill her. Holly says it was just a dream and claims it was just someone from school that’s jealous of her because she thinks her boyfriend is in to her. Johnny asks if he is. Holly responds that she’s not actually sure. EJ and Nicole then walk in. EJ says they are just the two people they were looking for because they have some news. Nicole then announces that she and EJ are getting married today.

Tate works at the Pub. Eric comes in and greets him, saying he heard he was in town and sees that Brady has put him to work. Eric adds that he’s sorry Tate got kicked out of school and he knows coming to Salem must be a change. Tate admits leaving all his friends was depressing. Eric encourages that he’ll make new friends at Salem High. Tate informs him that he already made one friend, but he kind of wants it to be more than friends.

Holly questions EJ and Nicole getting married today. Johnny calls it big news. EJ feels they’ve been dragging their feet long enough and their baby will be there soon enough. Johnny calls it so great and hugs EJ, telling him he’s so happy for him. Nicole tells Johnny that his blessing means a lot to them. Nicole adds that Holly’s blessing would mean a lot too and asks if she’s okay with this. Holly imagines Johnny telling her that he wanted to be her boyfriend, but now that their parents are getting married, they’re like siblings. Nicole points out that Holly didn’t answer and asks again if she’s okay with them getting married. Holly responds that she actually doesn’t think it’s such a good idea.

Stefan asks Gabi if they should go downstairs for breakfast. Gabi thought they were strategizing. Stefan says he does his best thinking on a full stomach. Gabi suggests coming up with a plan and then she’ll give him a reward which Stefan agrees to. Gabi tells him to start thinking. Stefan states that the best way to get proof that Li was in on the plan to kill him is to get it from one of his co-conspirators. They agree that they can’t get anything from Harris or Megan so Stefan states that they will have to get Li to confess. Gabi assures that Li is not stupid and will know he’s being played, so they’re going to have to be very shrewd. Stefan says it’s good that they know that Li’s Achilles heel is his obsessive love for Gabi.

Marlena assumes Li was keeping his high school relationship a secret from his father. Li confirms that he was afraid of how his father would react because she was working class and his family was not, so he knew that his father would never approve of their relationship but he never expected him to do what he did. Marlena asks what he did. Li explains that one day, she told him that she had to break up with him because her and her family were moving far away and they would never see each other again. Li remembers being unable to breathe in that moment and his father eventually became impatient with his dark mood and lost his temper. Li reveals that his father told him that he was dishonoring him because of a girl that never really cared about him and that’s when he told him what he did. Marlena asks again what he did. Li informs her that his father found a note that he had written to her, so he went to her and offered her a father a well paying job 2000 miles away from where they live and she accepted immediately. Marlena wonders if it wasn’t true and that his father just made up that story. Li admits he doesn’t know because he and the girl never spoke again. Li adds that his father expected him to just get over it and the truth is, he did as he eventually just buried his feelings and never mentioned her name again until now. Marlena asks how it made him feel. Li says he felt powerless as she was the best thing in his life and his father just took her away from him. Marlena imagines he wanted to make sure nothing like that ever again. Li admits at the time, he thought he would never love anyone again and he never did until Gabi. Li talks about feeling the same way for Gabi but he was afraid that someone would take her from him, like Stefan.

Gabi reminds Stefan that she pitched preying on Li’s obsession with her. Stefan points out that Li knows Gabi hates his guts, so he will sense that something is up. Stefan suggests a more unconventional approach involving a certain asset that could nudge Li in the right direction. Gabi asks how they acquire this asset.

Eric asks Tate about the friend he’s met. Tate explains that he met the first day he got to town in the park. Eric says that’s great and asks what she’s like. Tate realizes that he probably knows her and reveals that it’s Nicole’s daughter, Holly.

Nicole questions Holly not thinking it’s a good idea for her and EJ to get married. Nicole notes that it’s getting late and suggests EJ and Johnny start getting ready, so they exit the room. Nicole then asks Holly what’s going on as she thought that she liked EJ. Holly says she does, so Nicole questions why she doesn’t want them to get married. Nicole points out that they’ve been planning this wedding for awhile now and she thought Holly was happy about it, so she asks if something changed. Nicole encourages that she can talk to her. Holly then claims that it’s because of Eric.

Stefan informs Gabi that the asset has already been acquired and should be arriving any minute. Gabi asks how he’s so sure. Stefan responds that he put out feelers and should be hearing back anytime. Gabi asks if he has any idea what they should do while they wait. Stefan thinks he has a few ideas.

Marlena realizes that Li was afraid that Stefan was going to do what his father did and take away his girl. Marlena imagines that Li did everything in his power to make sure that wouldn’t happen which included hiring someone to kill Stefan. Li questions Marlena thinking that everything he did to keep Gabi was because of what happened with his father all those years ago. Marlena thinks his obsessive behavior comes from that early trauma he suffered. Marlena thinks that may be the core of his problem.

Chad calls Stephanie from home and leaves a message, saying he’s sorry to bug her as he knows she had an early meeting but he thought maybe they could talk. Chad tells her to call her back if he can as he hangs up. EJ then arrives. Chad asks what brings him by. EJ says he’s been meaning to stop by for ages and see his new place. Chad jokes about it comparing to the DiMera Mansion. EJ says as long as he’s happy and he would’ve brought a housewarming gift but there was no time as he came on an urgent matter. Chad asks if everything is okay. EJ informs him that his life is about to change for the better.

Nicole questions Holly saying this is about Eric. Holly turns away and talks about how much she always cared for Eric and she loved him as her stepdad. Nicole encourages that Eric is still always there for her. Holly says she always thought Nicole and Eric would get married again one day. Nicole admits that she used to think that too but that’s not going to happen because Eric has moved on with Sloan and she has moved on with EJ. Nicole states that her, Holly, EJ, and the baby are going to be a family.

Eric questions Tate being in to Holly. Tate says she’s great. Eric talks about spending a lot of time with Holly when he was married to Nicole. Tate says he was sorry to hear about their divorce as they seemed like the perfect couple to him. Eric asks if Tate asked Holly out. Tate responds that nothing is going to happen. Eric asks why not. Tate tells Eric that he has to promise not to say anything or else Holly would be pissed at him. Tate informs Eric that Holly is in to another guy who is totally wrong for her and way too old for her. Johnny then enters the Pub.

Li tells Marlena that he hasn’t thought about his past in so long but talking about it has made him feel more free. Li declares that maybe now he can finally be free of the hold that Gabi has had over him. Marlena is glad and hopes so. Marlena tells Li that he should be so proud of himself for having the courage to be so open about his feelings and his pain. Marlena hopes that he continues his therapy and to be as open as he has been today and that he’s determined to drop his destructive behaviors. Li assures that he is determined. Li says he’s just been telling himself that he could get over Gabi on his own, but he knows now that wasn’t true and that he needs help. Li states that today because of Marlena for the first time, he actually thinks he can get over Gabi.

After Stefan and Gabi have sex, Stefan checks his phone and tells Gabi there’s no word yet. Stefan then gets a text and says he has to go pick up the asset.

Eric asks if Johnny needs a table. Johnny says no but he needs a tray of sliders. Eric asks if he’s having a party. Johnny then informs Eric that EJ and Nicole are getting married today. Eric calls that great and notes that Nicole always loved the sliders. Johnny comments that EJ wanted to make sure Nicole had everything she wanted today.

Nicole tells Holly that she knows how she feels about Eric, but in time, she hopes she will have just as close of a relationship with EJ. Nicole asks if Holly can find it in her heart to come to their wedding. Nicole says she doesn’t want to pressure her but admits she’d be really sad if she didn’t come. Holly assures that she’ll be there as she knows how much it means to her. Nicole calls her the best daughter. Nicole says she has to go pick up her wedding dress. Holly offers to go with her but Nicole suggests she go get ready. Holly mentions a black dress but Nicole convinces her to go with the green dress. Nicole tells Holly that she will see her at the wedding and she loves her as Holly heads upstairs.

Chad is surprised to learn that EJ and Nicole are getting married today. EJ calls it nothing extravagant and they just have Johnny and Holly there. Chad asks about Tony and Anna. EJ notes that they are out of town and he’s not on the best of terms with Stefan and Gabi. EJ tells Chad that he would like for one of his brothers to be there and he’d be thrilled if it were him. EJ adds that they’d be delighted to have Stephanie as well. Chad informs EJ that they are not in the best place right now. EJ is sorry to hear that and asks what happened. Chad tells him they got in a fight and he’s not really sure what’s going to happen. EJ asks what the fight was about, then says it’s not his business but Chad says it’s fine. Chad admits that it’s Abigail as Stephanie feels threatened by him not being able to move on like she wants him to and he can’t fully commit to anyone else. EJ says he gets that. Chad says he doesn’t know what the rest of Stephanie’s day looks like but declares he’ll be happy to be there. EJ tells Chad that they can’t have it without him and reveals they want Chad to perform the ceremony which surprises him. EJ says he’s not really religious and jokes that a priest wouldn’t want to step foot in the DiMera Mansion. EJ feels that a justice of the peace is too impersonal and he wants to be surrounded by people they love. EJ tells Chad that he admires him and that he looks at him as a role model. EJ knows they’ve had ups and downs, but says Chad is the type of the man he wishes he was. Chad hugs him and tells him that it would be an honor to marry them. EJ says everything is set and now all he needs is his bride.

Eric sits in the town square, thinking back to Johnny telling him that EJ and Nicole are getting married. Nicole then approaches Eric.

Johnny returns to the DiMera Mansion and tells Holly that she looks great in her dress. Johnny asks her if she’s really not cool with the wedding. Holly says not exactly. Johnny asks why she doesn’t want his dad to marry her mom.

Li exits Marlena’s office at the hospital and then gets a call from Gabi. Li hesitates but answers the call and asks why she’s calling him and what she wants. Gabi claims that she needs his help because she’s been kidnapped.
