So you’re alleging that I followed lucy all the way to a public pier, and then I shot her in full view of anyone who wanted to come by. And as you pointed out, I went to “spy school,” so surely I would have a more clandestine method to eliminate someone at my disposal. I basically put myself out there to get caught. Do you see that this doesn’t make any sense? I see the woman who blackmailed me, the same woman who, when I refused to spy for her, threatened to destroy my life. That’s a bit of an exaggeration. You use people, anna, any way you have to, to even the score in your own petty grudges. With people like you and victor, that gets dangerous real fast. And I should know. I watched my own brother do it for years. The stakes get a little too high, something goes wrong, someone like lucy gets in the way, and then you’ve got to get rid of the problem, permanently.

Look, I think it might be worth mentioning at this point that whenever I was with lucy and anna’s name came up, lucy would get visibly uncomfortable. I agree. I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but now, well… I-I’m beginning to wonder if lucy might have been… afraid of anna? Add that to the evidence you’re “following.” Are you willing to make an official statement? Uh, yes, I-I suppose so. Does that mean you’ve changed your mind? If the person on the video proves to be anna devane, I will reassess. I can’t listen to any more of this. Until then, there’s nothing that links anna to lucy’s presumed death.

The life that I came back to a year ago, that — that wasn’t the life that I-I left, and it took me a while to see it. But there’s beauty in that. And new beginnings. A new beginning for both of us. Pretty obvious that this thing with you and olivia is not — not working. Yeah, you warned me what I’d be in for if I bought into this place. I was hoping that I was wrong. Now, he comes from a time when, if you admitted you had a mental illness, that was considered a weakness, a source of shame, which is ridiculous, but you of all people, you know how much courage and how much strength it takes to reach out. You’ve certainly helped enough people. I’m sure, if the time came, you wouldn’t hesitate to rely on family. Well, here’s hoping. to even think about curtis having symptoms. I mean, a predisposition, that’s no guarantee that the illness will actually develop. Thank god you were spared that. Yeah. Dex is back. Matter of fact,he’s in the alcove. I’m glad you finally backed off thinking dex was a person of interest. That made no sense whatsoever. It kind of did, actually, kristina. We were supposed to meet here, and lucy’s nowhere on the docks, and my — my calls go to voicemail. Okay. Cordon off the area. Get csi down here, forensics. We need an underwater dive team with sonar equipment, okay? I’ll call the commissioner. So, detective, what do you think happened here tonight? I don’t know, victor… but I’m gonna find out. And I’m gonna start with you.

[ Esme growls ] Aah! Aah!

[ Chuckles ] Ah, that tracks actually. But you get extra brownie points because of the fact somebody came after you with a hook. That never happened to me. It’s not a thrill I recommend.

[ Clicks tongue ] I can recall the times when i thought I was going to cark it. I felt… very uncomfortable at that… vulnerability. Maybe that’s why you and i have such empowering jobs. Or perhaps we’re just as tough as old boot leather.

So I arrived on the scene probably three, four minutes later. No one was here. Something caught my eye. It was the shoe. I — look, I-I can’t swear that that’s lucy’s shoe, but it’s definitely her style. Okay. Uh, back up. Why were you looking for lucy in the first place? I was worried for her safety. I thought maybe she was in jeopardy. Why would you be worried for her safety?

[ Camera shutter clicks in distance ] Anna, it can’t be a coincidence that you and victor were on the same dock. It’s not. I believe that he knew lucy was going to be here on pier 55, not 47, which is where I was informed she would be. Informed by who? Anna, do you think that victor had something to do with lucy’s disappearance? Yeah, I do. I can’t prove it, but yes. Okay. Well, I trust your gut. So, assuming that lucy is missing, why would victor target her? She was working for me… to get information out of victor so I could bring him down. I know, I know. She’s a civilian. I know. I was trying to get her to stop, but she refused. So I called her office to find out where she was, and they said that she was going on some sunset cruise with victor leaving from pier 47. I got down here. I came to try to extract her from the situation, but then I heard the shots. I came here. I found the shoe. So you think victor’s on to her? Yeah. I mean, an hour ago, I had no reason to think so. But now… I believe that he’s found out somehow… and he’s done something about it.

I’m sure you think I’m crazy to be taking off for this intensive. I mean, why go to the trouble to become a better manager when all I manage is a pub? Your job is important to you. [ Chuckles ] Well, as you americans say. I should… stay in my own lane. Suffice it to say, I do know the crushing disappointment of putting one’s trust in the wrong person. You and I, ava, we both deserve better. If victor is on to lucy, then he’s on to all of us, which means that this investigation is compromised and victor won’t be charged for his crimes. You’re talking about luke spencer’s death.

[ Exhales sharply ] God, I should never have done this. Hey. I should never have enlisted lucy to work victor. I was trying to keep her safe. Hey, for all we know, she still is. What are the odds of lucy leaving a designer shoe on the docks willingly? We have to assume that he’s figured it out and he’s dealt with her, and we both know what he’s capable of. But we know lucy… and what she’s capable of. She is relentless, and if anyone can survive victor, it’s her.

Believe it or not, I am a good listener, so whatever’s bothering you, I’m here. Yeah, see, that’s the thing. I did open up to someone, and he was very understanding. Well, it is one of a kind, after all. Just like the lovely lady who’s wearing it. So what was martin’s reaction to all these new additions to your jewelry box? Oh, I-I-I just made it clear to him that what we have is strictly platonic with… a dash of business thrown in. So what do you say we continue that business that was so prematurely cut short when my man johann fell overboard? You’re late to the party, scotty. I’m no longer living at wyndemere. I’m staying with nina in my old penthouse. So nikolas is all alone in that pretentious pile of rubble. Okay, listen, ava. [ Knock on door ] Um, just give me a call when you get this message, okay? Hey! What a pleasant surprise. Come in, come in. Did carly know that you were coming? No, actually, it was a spur of the moment decision. But after I saw what that awful honeycutt woman was saying about carly on the news

[Sighs] I just knew I had to come and support her. Well, she’ll be happy to have it. Have you seen her yet? I just left her at the bar. Carly’s putting up a good front. But I know my daughter better than that. And so do you. Listen, I haven’t got a lot of time. I’m going to see a client. So what’s up? It’s time we put everything out in the open. What’s everything? The timing fits, and it’s possible that she was drugged or convinced by the staff that she was hallucinating her pregnancy.

[ Sighs ] Oh, wow. Wow. Why would there be this secrecy? Look, if leopold taub knew that dominique was pregnant and the kid wasn’t his… he would have given the baby to the bells to ensure that cody could not claim dominique’s fortune. So dominique never knew she had a child.

[ Sighs ] Look, leopold taub and the woman who raised cody are both dead. We were hoping you’d know something. What I know is that I never met this kid before he showed up in this town. Well, did anything we just said jog your memory? Do you remember if dominique ever said anything, anything about her time at shadybrook, that she may have been aware that she had a child with me? If you need time to deal with your new family, I get it. But if you truly want to see where this thing between us goes, don’t ice me out.

It took me a while to wrap my head around the fact that cody could be my son. Well, we just have to hope that cody agrees to a dna test. Or not. You know something I don’t? You know, put yourself in my shoes, okay? If there was something that could blow your whole life up, wouldn’t you be better off not knowing? Of course I’m holding back. Every day that goes by, you keep me separated from my daughter. You force my cooperation. You keep me on a very short chain. But keep in mind, every time you choke it, my patience grows a little thinner. It is so discouraging to hear such hostility from one’s son. I haven’t seen my daughter in months. You’ve allowed me to text her and very short phone calls. You use her as leverage. Well, I have complied. I framed jennifer smith for luke’s murder. I took care of your laura problem by orchestrating events so she’d feel compelled to go to italy. And what do I get in return? You keep my daughter from me. Well, I’ve proven my loyalty. Both of whom know more about dominique than he does. You have to give him time to adjust. Yeah, but that doesn’t excuse him from being a grifter. And who declared cody a grifter? But I know what I know. And I know I’m lucy coe, and I know when I have a man wrapped around my finger. And victor is just right there, wrapped around my finger. Not to mention the fact he isn’t the first guy, the other victor, that I’ve had eating out of the palm of my hand. Believe me, I am well aware of your skills. Are you aware of mine? Okay, look. But every time I tell the story, it gets harder to believe because it’s one thing to send your child away while you’re recovering from an injury, but to leave her there month after month, never let her come home. I’ve never been away from charlotte this long, and people know that, and they’re asking questions. You told me you’d taken care of laura. I did. She’s dealing with her mother. But there are people, multiple people. Nina, just the other day. What about lulu’s family? Dante, the police detective. What about our family? Alexis? She’s editor of the invader. So if I were you, I would reconsider your tactics. Because if you don’t, all your plans, your work is going to come crashing down. Is that a threat? It’s reality.

When I was a freshman, I got an award at the end of the year for having a 4.0 gpa. I never told my mother about the assembly. I went with reese’s family. Can you imagine how much that hurt my mother? God, I was a rotten daughter. And here, I thought I could make up for it now, and I failed her. No. No, you didn’T. I have failed her every day for years. I did. She was so good to me, and I never appreciated it. And I know she would love to have been buried by the ocean. And I couldn’t even give her that. M-my — my — my algorithm is basically a master key for the internet. I know, and I-I always knew you were too brilliant for your own good. I know. Like dr. Frankenstein, I got so caught up in the act of creation, I failed to see the monster that my work could beget. Okay, first of all, you got to stop and listen to me, okay? No matter how reckless you think your algorithm is, it’s amazing. You are a genius. And, second, you weren’t trying to hurt anyone. That’s not you. Is there a third? Yes. You can never — and I repeat, never — tell anyone about this. The nsa can never find out. I understand. And, thankfully, the only thing that cody demanded for his silence was a fake match on society setups. So far. Weren’t you and cody dating?

[ Scoffs ] We had the one disaster date that ended with me upending my wine on his head. Then we had a non-date the night of the quartermaine picnic. When I actually agreed to a second real date, I showed up, and cody was really distracted. That’s weird. Yeah, since then, I’ve — he’s texted me a handful of times, but only, “what’s up?” No mention of future plans or…

[ Chuckles ] He ghosted you? Kind of! Yeah! After being so annoyingly persistent,

now you can’t be bothered? Well, I mean, he has had a lot on his mind lately. Right, like combing out horse manes or ointment for saddle sores.

[ Scoffs ] Oh, wow. Wait. I mean, you don’t know? So listen, man, look, if it’s over with you and britt, just — I think you dodged a bullet. I mean, you gotta admit, britt’s never boring. I mean, she’s smart as hell. She’s got…killer legs and a fiery sense of humor. While I plead the fifth on the legs, I agree with you on the rest. Thing is about her, she always just is always looking out for number one. So is everyone. No, not you. Say what you want, but you’re there for your friends. You were for me, anyway. Alright. I think ashby is our “in.” That would explain her sudden interest in transparency. Maybe victor realizes that we’re getting close, and he wants to limit our resources. I have no qualms in using my position as D.A. To take this bastard out. As far as I’m concerned, he’s a total menace to the public. I believe that ashby’s connection to victor is going to give us leverage. And, uh, you’re gonna use this how?

One of the local stationsdid a hit-piece on me, and then at the meeting, peyton made me out to be some out-of-town troublemaker who flies in just to mess with “decent people’s lives.” Oh, no. Did she really say that phrase? Yeah. “Decent people”?Yeah, she said that and more. She is a bitter, spiteful woman who is determined to make it my fault that her family imploded. Well, you know, some people just don’t want to face the truth. And that woman does not want to admit that she was married to a depraved creep. And, honey, her life is her responsibility. So don’t you let her inflict her garbage on you. I won’T. It’S… it’s just so sad that peyton can’t see, by holding on to the past, it’s keeping her from moving on with her own life. The news feature touched on reese’s accident. That must have been hard for you. Yeah. You know, dredging up that accident, it made me sick to my stomach. But drew helped me realize that the accident wasn’t my fault and that I could forgive myself and let go of the guilt. Honey, that’s huge!

[ Chuckles ] I’m so proud of you. So, maybe this detour was destined to be. I think it has more meaning than a leadership seminar. Oh, it has meaning, alright. Coming to jacksonville gave me closure. And drew being here with me is what made the difference. Well, it’s not absolutely 100% for sure until the dna test is done, but the dates match up, and my mom and mac seem pretty convinced. It’s looking like cody is mac’s son. So now you can see why he’s been a little distracted? That is so unfair!

[ Chuckles ] My long-lost relative was peter august, and cody gets mac scorpio? Who, according to you, is, like, the best dad ever? Okay. Yes. If there was a competition for best long-lost relative, cody would definitely win. But that’s what’s so puzzling. He hit, like, the dad jackpot. So why won’t he take that dna test to lock that down?

[ Chuckles ] Well, a new family member can really throw you for a loop. And we’re potentially talking about cody’s father. I see your point. I mean, look what peter did to our lives, what he’s still doing. What do you mean?

[ Groans ] That box of his effects. You still have that?! I didn’t feel like it was right getting rid of it. See? This is why we should have gone with our original instinct, which was to let me get rid of it. I was two seconds away from throwing it out before you called me and told me you wanted it back. No, no, no. Peter doesn’t do anything without an agenda. There had to be a reason why he left me that box. And one day I want the opportunity to go back to them and figure out what the hell he was up to. Britt, the only good thing peter ever did was give me bailey lou. Other than that, his existence was meaningless. Okay, I think we’re getting a little off course here. All I was trying to say was that I can see how this could be a lot for cody to take in. I mean, it’s not just mac. A new dad comes with a whole family. Right. Me. And my kids. I mean, cody and I are gonna be quasi-siblings. That’s why I wanted your opinion of him. Okay, maybe he didn’t blow me off. And maybe he really does just have a lot on his mind. Oh, my — you actually like him, don’t you? It’s a good thing that I have a little time before I have to play peacemaker between my mom and kristina. Oh. More mother/daughter friction? Yeah, they’re — they’re on the outs again, but it’s gonna give me a few minutes so I can actually go talk to cody. Actually, I really wish you wouldn’T. Cody happens to be a really good friend of dante’s, and I think he’s an okay guy. He may play fast and loose with the law, but so do all of us. The blackmail thing is troubling, though, so I would really like to look him in the eye and find out what he really wants. I’m not worried about mac scorpio trying to put me away anymore. Good. See? So it was over, but your own son still went to the cops. I can’t help notice, though, that you’re not under arrest right now. Dex denied it, said that michael was lying. Mm, see? I told you.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah. Dex is a keeper. Yeah, yeah, I’m grateful for him to have my back, in spite of what I did, but, you know, I just can’t — I just can’t help think that… I don’t want everybody to think michael’s a liar. Michael made his bed. Yeah, it’s a little more complicated than that. No, it isn’T. I lost my son, and I’m, you know — I’m just trying to figure out a way to make it right. What I’ve heard has been less than flattering. Right. You know, I think it’s — it’s best for everyone involved if we just keep josslyn as far away from dex as possible. Is it landing how lucky you are? How lucky you are that I realized what was going on and had michael to go to. And that michael could stop this man from cutting you up into a million pieces. And I’m grateful. I never said that I wasn’T. Dex, what about all of the guys who weren’t so lucky? How about all of the guys who didn’t have somebody realize that they were in danger and saved them? How about all of those guys that are buried somewhere in the marsh, all under sonny’s orders? And this is a man that you’re supporting? I get why you feel that way. I do. No, no, I don’t think you do. When I was discharged from the army, I started working for a security firm. That’s a fancy way of saying I was a mercenary. A soldier for hire. I would go to whatever combat zone they sent me to, no questions asked, and I did what needed to be done. And this is like that? No. That’s my point. Feels a hell of a lot better not risking my life for some corporation. Oh, I see. So you’d rather risk your life for sonny? Please don’t tell me you’re that naive, dex. Think about it, okay? I proved myself both by surviving and by not giving him up. This is an opportunity for me. Opportunity for what? Advancement. Power. I know that might sound awful to you, josslyn, but we have not lived the same lives. You have been given way more choices than I have. That is the biggest cop-out I’ve ever heard. You’re gonna take nikolas back after you thought he was the one who stabbed you? I never really believed that. You banned him from your hospital room. If you weren’t scared, then why did you do that? You had sex with esme? Yes. I’m not gonna say that nikolas and i don’t have our issues, ’cause we do. But we’re beginning to move past them. Okay, so you — you — you want me to give up on michael? Temporarily. But you won’t give up on nikolas? Well, the situations are very different. How? Well, michael seems hell-bent on revenge, and nikolas actually wants to work things out. Really? Really. When things are good with nikolas, they’re very, very good. Mm-hmm. And you know, who knows? You know, maybe we’ve weathered the worst of it, right? And now it’s just smooth sailing ahead. [ Sighs ] Oh, hey, sonny, if I can leave you with one last bit of advice. I know that I’m biased. This kid saved my life. Oh. Okay, so we’re — now we’re back to dex? Yeah. Hmm? I just want to say that… that having trina to mentor and talk to and teach about my business — that has been so wonderful for me in ways I didn’t even realize at first. And I think it’ll be good for you to have dex around. And what’s good for you keeps you in power… and safe. It’s good for our daughter. So I’m all for it. Who else knows you’re in port charles? Uh, plenty of people saw me. Wyndemere wasn’t my first stop. You’re lying. You wouldn’t risk showing your face. You’ve been skulking around in this getup, remaining hidden — smart. Until now. And you’ll never have to deal with me again, michael. Dante: I want to ask you some questions about what went down between you and my father after brando corbin was killed. Should I call a lawyer? No, not this time.

[ Sighs ] I’ll keep it simple. I can tell you got bruises on your face. Your wrists — your wrists look pretty bad, actually. I’m thinking by the way you’re standing there, your ribs are in rough shape, too. You want to tell me what happened? Robert: Ah! About bloody time. I didn’t know I was expecting company.

[ Chuckles ] Just about had my limit with these distractions. Nevertheless, we should keep an eye on ava. She’s, uh, unpredictable. And, of course, there’s that other loose end we have to take care of — convincing the authorities that esme prince is alive and well and nowhere near port charles. Who the hell are you? Want to tell me how you got these bruises? I-I don’t really know. Mm. Was it sonny? Why would you ask that? Let’s just say a concerned citizen told me that, uh, you were kidnapped and assaulted by your boss. Do you want justice? [ Sighs ] We have both hurt each other so much, right? But we just watched gladys bury her son. We both know what that’s about. The finality of a life cut short, michael.

[ Voice breaking ] Last time I saw morgan, he was r-running out the door. I never got a chance to — to tell him that I loved him. And I pray to god that he knows, and I’m just… I want you to know that I will always love you. Can we just figure out a way to end this… …so we can be a family again? You know, you can’t just throw the word “family” out there expecting it to erase everything that you’ve done. Maybe not. But it’s a good place to start. Oh! Valentin! Sorry. And you can’t ask questions for everyone’s safety. For charlotte’s safety. I’m in. I just feel as if I’ve — I’ve hit a dead end. Well, I can’t say that surprises me.

[ Chuckles ] I mean, vic is slick. Oh, he’s cunning. I mean, he has spent his entire life honing his reputation for ruthlessness, and now it’s really paying off. So I take it my contacts didn’t pan out. I just mentioned victor’s name and they — poof — evaporated. They ran scared. Understandable, but disappointing. I hoped one of them, at least, would be up for the challenge. So what’s the next step? This is where you come in.

[ Chuckles ] What do you need from me? A warrant. Esme prince just posted from st. Tropez. Good. Keep leaving those digital footprints of esme’s idyll in the south of france.

[ Sighs ] This mess has already interfered with the plans we’ve been working on for years. This ends now.

[ Knock on door ]

[ Crying ] Oh! Oh! Thank god you’re here. Oh, victor! Victor! Well, wha…

[ Sobbing ] You look like you’ve seen a ghost. I thought — I thought that — we thought that — I was dead. Ava sure tried her damnedest when she threw me off the parapet. That’s not what happened. Oh! And how would you know? You weren’t there. I’m sure ava has you all roped into her scheme. I’m sure she spun some tale making herself out to be the victim, even though I was the one being swallowed by cold, dark water. You both left me for dead. I’m sure you celebrated. You got what you wanted… …me, gone. Except I’m not. I’m back. You’re really gonna have to try harder next time.

Trina, I can tell there’s something on your mind. You can tell me. You know you can tell me anything. What’s on my mind feels so trivial with everything else going on. People are dying. And the maniac who attacked you is still out there. You don’t have to remind me of that. But here I am. I’m still alive. And I’m gonna live my life. And you should do the same. Frankly, I’d like to hear about something other than life and death. So tell me, what is going on with rory? Well, he asked me to go to a comic book convention. Mm. That’s cool. Do you like comics? Yeah. But it’s out of town. Oh, I see. That is a significant invitation. I’m not sure how I feel about going on an overnight trip with rory yet. I mean, I really like him, and I do want to get closer, but I can’t help but think about the last time I went on a weekend trip. I know, but I still can’t shake the feeling that something horrible’s gonna happen. I understand. It’s hard coming back after you’ve been through such a traumatic experience like you have. It’s hard to trust again other people and your own judgment. And… maybe you’re afraid that you’d be leaving yourself open to more — more pain, more hurt. Trina, you have to ask yourself, do you really want to let what esme prince did to you dictate the rest of your life? So, you, uh — you came back here for money. Don’t I deserve something after what ava did to me? While you two got to carry on with your lives, I drifted further and further out into deep water. I thought I was going to die, just like you wanted. No, I didn’t — I didn’t want you to die. I-I searched for you. I mean, I — I know that terror. I had — I had to fight to stay alive when I was adrift at sea. Thankfully, a fisherman found me and put me up in a canadian hostel until I regained my strength. And I suppose the fisherman ran out of money and you couldn’t access your funds. But coming back here — it was a mistake. You should have stayed out of the country. Of course. It’s exactly what you wanted — to get rid of me. I’m talking about the pcpd. They’re looking for you for attempted murder because you drugged that bartender. No, the cops have it all wrong. And they certainly can’t prove a thing. Oz haggarty gave pretty convincing testimony of your guilt at trina’s trial. You know, interestingly enough, he was found murdered this morning. Is that why you really came back, esme? To finish what you started?

[ Crying ] Oh. I-I-I’m so sorry. I think I’ve — I’ve ruined your jacket. What? Oh, no, that’s inconsequential. Now, w-why are you in such a state? Is it morton? It’s martin. No, no. So if we can get victor into this suite right now, I think that buys me a day or two before the bug is discovered. Okay. What then? Well, I’ll handle it, but that’s all I’m gonna tell you right now. Valentin, I know victor is your father, but he’s a very, very dangerous man, and I don’t like the idea of you taking him on alone. Well, don’t worry about me. I’ve got backup. Multiple partners, each playing integral roles. And hopefully that includes you. But I need you to make a phone call. You’re not the same father who put family above everything else. Intentionally jumping into the water from a passenger vessel would be considered, um, unsafe operation of said vessel… right. Okay. …And would be illegal. Okay. However, you’ve implied that the act wasn’t intentional. I just want him detained. Just bring him in for questioning. The charges don’t have to stick. Great. So not only do we abuse my office, now we’re going to waste taxpayers’ resources for…nothing. Well, I think taking victor off the street is for the greater good. And this is for luke. In case you didn’t know, I am the new co-owner of the metro court, and I am so sorry to bother you, but, uh, we are gonna have to shut the water off to your room. And I know it’s a complete inconvenience, but we are going to have to move you to another suite, at least temporarily. Well, now is just not a good time. I understand that, and I am so sorry for the disturbance, I truly am, but we have no choice because there is a room on your floor that has a leak. And so I will have a staff member up there momentarily to help you move your things. And there is-a and again, thank you so much for your cooperation.

Yes, well, all right, if you’re sure there’s no other choice. And once again, mr. Cassadine, our sincerest apologies. Well… apparently there is some kind of water leak somewhere. They’re gonna have to temporarily move me to another suite. I don’t know, something — something feels off. Oh, you know, that completely explains that I, um — when I was rushing up to you, I, um, saw some maintenance men in the lobby. So that must be why. Um… I guess you need to get ready, so I’ll — I’ll go, you know. Um, I’ll leave you to it, but, um… thank you for everything. I just… I feel so alone. Oh, no. You’re not alone. Look, if you can just wait until I’ve figured this whole room-changing mess out, I promise you I’ll give you my full attention.

I mean, you show up in town, and the witness who pointed the finger squarely in your direction winds up dead. The only thing I’m guilty of is loving your son and usting you. And while I was in that canadian hostel, that man tried to pin

everything on me. How do we know he wasn’t hired by trina’s people or sonny? Give it a rest, esme. I am done buying the victim act. Oh, come on, nikolas. You know me… intimately. You don’t really believe all of these horrible things about me, do you? I have no idea what you’re talking about. That’s your story and you’re sticking to it, huh? Mr. Corinthos didn’t do anything besides give me a ride home after I was released. Any other questions? Yeah, just one. Are you afraid of retaliation? Retaliation? I know how my father works. Dex, word is you went through something hellacious. You were threatened to keep your mouth shut. I am in a position to make sure my father doesn’t get to you for telling the truth. Whoever told you mr. Corinthos tried to harm me is a straight-up liar. Thanks for your time. And how can I meet you halfway when I don’t even know who you are anymore? Look, you turned your back on everything you once believed in. You keep saying that, that you don’t — you don’t know me anymore. You’ve known me your whole life. That doesn’t count for anything? It’s a pretty big coincidence that three of the victims just happened to be people that you thought wronged you in some way. Oh. So you know what I think now? I know what I think. Not only do I think that you’re capable of murder, I think you came back for revenge. So that would mean… you’re next.

Look, sonny abducted dex, tortured him to coerce him into a confession, which you all know now would have been false. Michael, this vendetta with sonny has gotten out of hand. [ Exhales ] It’s all up to lucy now. That’s the part that worries me. Yeah. I’m so grateful to you, nina, for all the trouble you’ve gone to. I-it’s no trouble at all. You thought of everything, right? Like brando’s favorite drink. Beer. Root beer.

[ Glasses and bottles clink ] Why aren’t you at the hospital? Then I couldn’t be here to let you in. Huh. You know what I mean. Look at yourself. You’re covered in bruises from what sonny did to you. Yeah, I’m a little sore. A little? Okay. I-I hurt everywhere. Especially my wrists. It could have been a lot worse if you hadn’t shown up. Never really got the chance to thank you for rescuing me, did I? Well, it looks like the divorce papers are all ready to go. There’s a receipt inside the envelope that proves I submitted them to the court. I want you to keep that. I don’t need a receipt. I take you at your word that they’ll be filed. Now we just need a court to sign off… and, um, we’ll officially be divorced. I’d feel better if you held onto the receipt. It’s something you can show portia since I botched things the first time around. Right. Jordan, this is what doesn’t make sense to me. You’re one of the most organized people I’ve ever known, so it just doesn’t add up that you would misplace the original papers. What can I say? Nobody’s perfect. I think I proved that during our marriage, right? Jordan, it takes two people to make a marriage and two people to mess it up. Now, let’s be honest — I think we both know that our marriage was over long before we signed those papers. Maybe for you. But not for me. Physically, you are recovering just fine. But as your doctor, it’s my job to treat the whole patient. And, ava, I want you to take care of yourself. To be honest, I-I’m — I’m a little bit worried about your well-being. Trina told me that you closed your gallery, and I know that that was far more than just a business to you. Well, actually, that — that’s your fiancé’s fault, really.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Chuckles ] How is that exactly? Uh, curtis came to see me, and he told me that he was worried about trina working in the gallery with some serial slasher roaming around. And — and he was right. As much as I hated that I won’t be working with trina for now, I… I have to do whatever I can to protect her from any future repeat attack, right? Yeah, and I think you did the right thing. I think you did the right thing for trina and for you. But I need you to know that working at your gallery was far more than just a job to trina. And I never got to thank you for arranging the fellowship at the chuck for her. Well, that — that was curtis’ idea, actually. I just made a couple of phone calls and gave trina a sterling recommendation, which she earned. Yeah, I just feel badly that — that trina seems to resent curtis for setting that in motion. She said she already has one protective father looking out for her. Right. Okay, well, if there isn’t anything else, I really have spent more than my fair share of time at G.H. Lately. Okay. There is just — just one more thing. I-I just want you to make sure that you are focusing on keeping yourself out of harm’s way, okay? A-and since the gallery is off limits, at least you know you’re gonna be safe at wyndemere, right? Esme is lying in the bottom of the harbor, courtesy of your wife. And no one need be any the wiser. Despite your ridiculous attempt to take the blame for the murder in order to woo ava. So you just proceed with this divorce as planned… and no more confessions in the name of love. Are we clear on that? Nikolas: “I, nikolas cassadine… of sound mind and body do hereby acknowledge and confess that I, and I alone, am responsible for the disappearance of esme prince. I know this because I killed her.” The means? My own two hands. Victor: Nikolas. You always were a poor judge of women and a — a fool for their charms. So I want you to tell me the truth. What else does ava got on you? Esme: Bad for you, oz. But good for me.

I am no longer living at wyndemere. I’m happy that nina has offered me a place to stay, stay with her. I’m grateful for that. And plus there’s the added benefit of knowing that sonny’s looking out for nina, so… which means that he’ll be looking out for you. Yeah, well, you know, as avery’s mother, sonny does want to keep me safe. Well, good. You know, I’m glad that you have someplace — someplace to go, but, um… but what? Ava, you know I have no love for nikolas or his son spencer. But I do know that you’re still in love with your husband, even after everything that’s happened. And I just hope, for your sake, that you really finally leave nikolas and never look back. I gotta say, I’m surprised to hear you say that. But I’m with portia now. I know. All I’m saying is, is I never made it a secret about how I felt. I was ready to fight for our marriage if you had been. I couldn’T. The two of you have done more than just buy a house together. You’ve done everything you can to create a family. And not just for the two of you, but for your dad and aunt stella. According to the coroner, he was likely attacked by the same woman with a hook. They weren’t able to identify him, but I recognized him right away. Because he’d been a patient here not that long ago. Well, who is it?! That bartender guy who testified at trina’s trial.

[ Elevator bell dings ] Oz haggerty? Wai– ava. Ava? Don’t you think we should talk about this? No. I-I have to go. You just don’t get it. It’s not about what ava has on me or what I have on her.

[ Scoffs ] Well, tell that to the young lady ava pushed over the parapet. Ava swears that it was an accident. Well, fine. Say that I, uh — say I believe here. Do you really think the police would? Or a jury? Ava had just discovered you had slept with your son’s girlfriend. She was out for revenge on esme. And to frame you for the crime… would be an act of love. Ava didn’t twist my arm. She didn’t threaten me. I proved to her that she could trust me again in spite of the terrible mistake that I made with esme. I earned ava’s trust by putting my life in her hands. And I did it willingly, with my eyes wide open. But you can’t understand that, can you, uncle? I can understand you’re acting like a damn fool. It’s sad. But, yeah, dex was brought in as a person of interest until diane told us that her attacker was a woman. Why? Well, before diane made her id, sonny took matters into his own hands and almost played judge, jury, and executioner. Look. If you don’t believe me, go talk to dex. I already told you. I don’t want to get the cops involved. Yeah, but you didn’t tell me why. You’re not a fugitive, are you? No. Not afraid to incriminate yourself in your own kidnapping and torture? [ Scoffs ] But there’s something that you need to realize. As awful as these past few months have been for you, I don’t know if I could’ve made it through without curtis. Yeah, sometimes, uh, I do miss law enforcement, but my situation was kind of complicated, and I took away from it a lot of hard lessons. Are you happy where you are now? Oh, man. Nightclub, you know? I’m just saying your department and the da’s office would have some serious egg on your faces if you’d convicted an innocent person. Your father, curtis, marshall — they all called in favors to track down evidence to get you exonerated. But at the end of the day, it was curtis who held me when I cried. It was curtis who tracked down oz and waited outside his hospital room day and night, waiting for him to wake up. And he even considered mortgaging the savoy in case you were convicted and we needed money for the appeal. Curtis was willing to do that? Curtis might not have raised you, but, honey, that man loves you. What makes you think I’m up to something? I know trouble when I see it. Been hanging out with your uncle mac too long. Finn never even talks about her, and I only saw her picture after I had already drawn the sketch. It can’t be a coincidence that we were both on the mariana islands at the same time. I know reiko’s face because I knew her. And so did my father. Drink and then answer. You think reiko died after a fall and you or your dad were there when it happened or caused it? I don’t know. Why not ask finn? Ryan: Well, well, well. What was in that water you fell into? When you’ve been through hell, nothing scares you. Not even your father. You just missed ava, by the way. I can’t have all of my personal problems cast in the shadow of the woman he couldn’t save, a woman who, if she were still alive, he’d probably be with today. I need to know what happened to reiko.
