The swallowing symptoms you described, if they are what you fear, would imply that you’re further along. How much further? It’s possible that a secondary condition of carpal tunnel was masking over tremors caused by chorea… a symptom of stage 2 huntington’S. If you weren’t up front with the doctor about your identity, I assume you also withheld details of your life, say, 5, 10 years ago? I was essentially on the run for most of that time, except for the year I spent in prison. Were you experirritability, depression, restless limbs while sleeping?

[ Scoffs ] Did you not just hear me? I was on the run and then a prisoner. So, yes, I was quite restless and anxious and — and depressed. It’s entirely possiblethat at that time, you were experiencing the first, harder to detect, stage of the disease.

But as for living your daily life, it could be as soon as 18 months that you would need full-time care and assisted living. Victor has ethan? After your adventure in monte carlo, ethan found some evidence that I might still be alive, and he came looking for me. Why didn’t he bring it to me? I don’t know. Maybe he was trying to find confirmation first. I don’t know. But unfortunately for all of us, victor’s people caught him. Now victor’s holding him to secure my cooperation.

[ Sighs ] So, um…victor’s got anna on the run. He’s got lucy and ethan as prisoners.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

I just haven’t found it yet. But it’s more likely that the necklace, along with the rest of taub’s collection, was left to any heirs that he may have had. And that’s me. If there are no other heirs. Wow. Here I thought I was getting a windfall when we found that necklace, but turns out it might all be yours. Well, again, not necessarily. If a sales record to peter or faison shows up, it could wind up being yours after all.

Has anyone told this U.S. Marshal that victor ran the wsb for many years? Instead of treating anna like a criminal, you should be investigating my great-uncle. Yeah, no kidding. I would love to be doing that. But I’ve been assigned to search for anna, so I have to do everything by the book and document every step and hope that anna and my father have covered their tracks. Wait, sonny is involved? I don’t know what hurts worse, ace — my aching back or my wounded pride.

[ Sighs ] Don’t tell anyone, but your mom just got played by cameron’s mother. And here I thought she was some mealy-mouthed goody-goody. But…

You were beyond convincing. The point is, I convinced esme that I was going to perform a c-section. Without anesthesia. And then she stopped pretending. But after what she did to cameron, if I genuinely scared her, I’m okay with that. And you’re sure there’s nothing wrong with the baby? Okay, don’t get me wrong. She should absolutely be seeing an ob/gyn on a regular basis. But as for today, her reaction is all I needed to know that she was faking it. So, now that you know the baby’s not in jeopardy, what are you and esme going to do? Well, let me be very clear. There is no “me and esme.”

[ Scoffs ] Nikolas, you couldn’t be more wrong. You two are literally attached at the hip. You now share a child together. You and lucky share a child. How often do you two co-parent together? You were taking her to cassadine island in greece. Esme would be miles away from the mainland with round-the-clock supervision until the baby is born. And then what? Once my child is safely in my arms, esme would live out her life in comfort on the island. I raised spencer without a mother before. I can do it again. I needed my birth certificate to get a passport, only harmony didn’t have one, so she got one forged. Right. And then she told carly right before she died that she wasn’t your biological mother. If only she told carly who my real mother was. Look, look, the way that I see it is if there is a real birth certificate out there, I’ll get an investigative reporter on the trail. How? Harmony lied about so many things. Is my birth name really kali? Is my birthday real or fake? Well, we just, um… we locate some of the people that used to live on the denver commune with harmony and her husband. If the only way to find my biological parents is by talking to harmony’s old commune friends, I can save you the time and trouble, because that’s going to be a dead end. All right. Open your mouth. Close. All right, so now you can’t talk — it’s my turn. The night that we met… when sonny ordered you to attack that paparazzi and I recorded the whole thing and I threatened to take it to the cops, sonny took off. He just left you there. Then he decides, with zero evidence, that you are the one going around and attacking people with a hook. He ties you up, he leaves you in a freezer, and he has some freak threaten to torture you with knives. Then he orders you to do something — god knows what — and you get shot in the process, and you can’t even call him for help. There is no way that sonny is paying you enough to go through all of that. I’d accuse you of being blindly, stupidly loyal… but, dex, I know that you’re not stupid. So, tell me.

[ Thermometer beeps ]

[ Scoffs softly ] What is it? Why have you been risking so much for sonny? You want me to stay away from your sister? Look, I hate lying to josslyn, but, yeah, she can’t know that you work for me. All I can tell you is… …I have my reasons.

[ Scoffs softly ] Your temperature is 104. If my mom is not back soon with the antibiotics, we have to take you to the hospital. Jeff: I’m sorry you feel that way, lizzie. My name is elizabeth, and I’m only stating true facts. God, you wreak havoc on everybody’s lives. You cheated on mom more than once — hayden is living proof. You’re the reason reiko betrayed finn. The reason I argued with her at the top of those stairs. If you hadn’t met her, who knows? She’d probably still be alive. And she and finn might still be married. And I wouldn’t have spent years repressing the memory of what happened to her. You’re right, elizabeth. I can’t dispute anything you just said.

Um… anyway, I, uh, I still root for the bulldogs. He’s not around to cheer them on anymore, so I do it for him. I want to go to a game in person someday. He always said the game-days were just I-incredible — the stadium is packed, and when the team runs out, they play “baba o’riley.” That is the weirdest name for a song. Okay. Um, you need to hydrate. They just checked me in for observation — mild concussion, but, really, I think they were just being overly cautious. Better safe than sorry. Yeah. Yeah. I’m the last person to defend esme, because I think she’s a maniac. But honestly, I don’t think she meant for me to fall. I’m really glad you weren’t hurt. I wish reiko hadn’t been. Me, too.

[ Sighs ] I hate that my dad showed up without warning. The last thing I wanted was for him to cause you more pain. It’s okay. I mean, it wouldn’t have been my first choice to…talk to your dad today, but in a strange way, it may have helped.

And now you know that reiko fell when she was having an argument with me, which is how she caught the disease that killed her.

[ Voice breaking ] It’s just — it’s — it’s just too much for one relationship to withstand. It’s — it’s too much for you to possibly forget.

[ Breathes deeply ] Neither one of us will ever forget what we’ve been through. But that doesn’t mean we still don’t have anything to talk about.

[ Cellphone ringing ] I think it’s time that maybe we put this all down on the — the table.

[ Ringing continues ] I’m sorry. I-I have to answer this.

[ Sighs ] I’m right in the middle of something. Why do you keep calling me?

[ Sighs ] Okay. Uh, I’m on my way. I’m so sorry. I have to go. Is it something about the boys? No. No, it — it’s, um — it’s just something else that — something else, but you can’t tell me. I, uh… I really want to finish this conversation. I do. I really want to believe that’s true.

I just — I want to be me, willow, and not willow, the woman with cancer, for as long as possible. If you’re worried about people pitying you, don’t be, okay? The people who love you will support you and recognize your courage and strength. Well, they’ll still look at me differently. Admit it, when you find out someone has cancer, that’s the first thing you think about when you see them. You focus on the illness. Maybe if I — if I don’t know them. Look, I’m sure that the people who do know you, they’re going to continue to admire and delight in the things that make you you. I am just allergic to the idea of people feeling sorry for me. Yeah, I know. That’s because you’re independent and you are so used to doing things all by yourself. And that’s probably because, you know, growing up, you couldn’t always rely on your parents, so you felt you had to handle everything on your own. You’re right. I-I had no idea how deeply that feeling has been ingrained in me. Willow, you are not going to be alone ever again, okay? You, me, wiley, and the baby, we are a family, and that is not going to change, ever. I hope not. I’m gonna make sure of it. Your wife? Oh, I think you’d remember reiko. You were on saipan with her. I must have fallen and hit my head, and the next thing I know, you’re standing over me, telling me to trust you. And then you were gone. You just left me there. Why would you do that to me? I went after esme. I didn’t want her to get away. But she did get away, because jordan said they’re still looking for her. I lost her. So you just decided to go home? Why didn’t you come back to see if I was okay? I-I heard sirens and I figured the police were on their way. We had made eye contact, so I didn’t think you were badly hurt. Unh-unh. That’s not it. You know something. Where is esme? To be perfectly honest, ace, I’m a little afraid of your grandfather. Okay, maybe more than a little. I’ve done my research, and he’s a dangerous man, and unpredictable. But… he’s the only father I’ve got, and he needs me. He may think he’s the most brilliant serial killer ever, but he’s currently in spring ridge pretending to be a vegetable. Not that my situation is much of an improvement over his. He’d be so disappointed in me. You know, he’d have some strategy that I’ve overlooked, some way to turn the tables on nikolas. So instead of asking, how do I get out, I should be asking… …what would daddy do?

[ Sighs ] I tested it myself. I could barely taste the cauliflower. Oh, cauliflower in a smoothie. Yeah. Well, I mean, vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower, they’re good for inflammation and high in folate, so it’s good for you and the baby. Well, someone has been googling “cancer diets.”

[ Sighs ] You know… I have been thinking about the idea of tracking down my biological family. Even if I find them, and that’s a major if, how do I just show up out of the blue and ask for a bone marrow transplant? Well, what would you do if the situation was reversed? I’d help if I could. Okay. Well, there’s your answer. Look, there are a lot of good people out there who want to do the right thing, just like you, willow. I guess I’m jaded. People like nina make it hard to remember. Jordan ashford just dropped by my house an hour ago, and she told me you were found on the docks after a run-in with esme. What the hell happened? I was on my way to spoon island to see nikolas. I encountered esme. I went to call 911. She tried to grab my phone. Next thing I knew, I was lying on the ground and she was gone. Oh, my god. Well, does cam know? Yes. Does josslyn? I don’t know. I’m on my way to her place next. Josslyn: Oh, what are you doing? Um, did somebody give you permission to let yourself into my room? I was told you made a complaint about bedbugs. I need to inspect you room and get pest control in — oh, no, that’s — that’s not necessary. I don’t have bedbugs. All I said was that I heard a rumor. You sure? Yeah, I’m positive. Can’t even remember the last time I felt an itch. That is such a relief. ‘Cause bedbugs, they’re like a whole thing. The paperwork alone just — yeah. Okay. Well, today’s your lucky day. Great.

I’ve just been trying to reach joss all morning. Are you worried? I mean, kinda. She hasn’t responded to my texts. Have you seen her on campus? Well, today’s my late class. I mean, I’m sure she’s fine. Want me to try her? No. No. It’s okay. I’m probably overreacting. Just a little on edge with all the attacks that have been going on. We all are. Especially given the latest news. Yeah. So you heard esme’s back in town? Not until now. I have been waiting for months to be able to do this. Ohh. And I can’t believe you let me get away with it.

Esme’s graduating from torching cars and making revenge porn to trying to kill that bartender. She’s seriously unhinged! We have no idea what she’s capable of. Joss told you commissioner ashford’s theory? About the hook targeting people close to you and related to the trial? Yes. But esme as the maniac? I can’t wrap my head around it. Just please watch your back. Yeah. You too. Does spencer know? We didn’t tell spencer because we didn’t know that esme was back in town. We also didn’t know about the hook’s connection to you. And you were busy telling him other things? Your name did come up. Joss told me, especially how spencer’s feelings were hurt after I found out that he believed in me all along. It seems unfair to penalize others for my decision. How’s great-grandmother lesley doing? She is recovering. She’s doing well, actually. But, spencer, it was so sad. They lost everything. And bit by bit, their new place on lake como is starting to feel like home. I’m glad. It’s good that you’re back. It’s nice to see you. You too. You shouldn’t have come here, though. To my knowledge, anna devane has not crossed state lines, which puts this case under the jurisdiction of the pcpd. Not any longer. The mayor’s office called me in. Mayor collins called you? What law-enforcement department isn’t? I’m sorry you’ve wasted your time, but I have this under control. Not from what I can see. A failed prisoner transfer, the second in less than a year, and now you have a potential serial killer on the loose. It appears your resources are severely overtaxed. I’ll need documentation confirming your jurisdiction. I’m not here to step on your toes, commissioner ashford. I’m here to help. My understanding is that in addition to being a wsb agent, the fugitive was also once police commissioner? Your understanding is correct. Look at it this way. Relinquishing control of this investigation avoids any appearance of impropriety for both you… and your department. Sonny: What happened out there? Didn’t dex tell you? No. Heather webber happened. She got added to the transport at the last minute, and dex tried to change the route so that we would go to d’archam first, drop her, and then on to pentonville. But I guess the guard got suspicious, and there was a struggle in the front. And lost control of the vehicle. We crashed, and then… I kind of don’t remember. I hear the guard is still alive, so he can give us a description. Okay. Where would dex go if he wanted to keep a low profile? I don’t know, because he doesn’t have many connections. And without me, dex… could be anywhere.

I’ll need to talk to that officer. He was focused on the transfer. Never even saw the driver’s face. Should he remember any details, I’ll have him meet with our sketch artist to have a composite drawn. Jar that memory. An I.D. On that driver will lead us to who aided anna devane’s escape.

[ Knock on door ] Come in. Mr. Corinthos. You just saved me a trip. Last time I talked to spencer, I told him I didn’t want to be friends. I’m not sure I can take that back. Not sure if I want to. I guess that’s up to you. If you’ve moved on, more power to you. I think ultimately spencer just wants you to be happy. Even if that’s with rory. Same goes for me, too, trina. Thanks. Rory is a great guy. Yeah, you guys seem to be very at ease with one another, like me and joss. Yeah, you and joss have gone through a lot these past few months, and y’all are still together.

[ Chuckles ] I think it’s our friendship that keeps us grounded. You know, it’s because of that bond, it’s far easier to find our way back to one another. Rory and I are friends, too. He’s so supportive. I’m glad. You know, maybe it was for the best that spencer never gave you that letter. Laura: Ask esme? What does she have to do with the rift between you and your dad? You know, that little mea culpa of yours could have sent you to prison for life if valentin hadn’t gotten it away from ava. Now, fortunately, your ridiculous romantic gesture won’t be coming back to haunt us. And neither will esme prince. May she rest in peace. Okay, guys. You can take him.

I’m so grateful to you, nina, for all the trouble you’ve gone to. I-it’s no trouble at all. You thought of everything, right? Like brando’s favorite drink. Beer. Root beer.

[ Chuckles ] But most importantly, he had a big heart. To brando. To never be forgotten.

[ Glasses and bottles clink ] Why aren’t you at the hospital? Then I couldn’t be here to let you in. Huh. You know what I mean. Look at yourself. You’re covered in bruises from what sonny did to you. Yeah, I’m a little sore. A little? Okay. I-I hurt everywhere. Especially my wrists. It could have been a lot worse if you hadn’t shown up. Never really got the chance to thank you for rescuing me, did I? Well, it looks like the divorce papers are all ready to go. There’s a receipt inside the envelope that proves I submitted them to the court. I want you to keep that. I don’t need a receipt. I take you at your word that they’ll be filed. Now we just need a court to sign off… and, um, we’ll officially be divorced. I’d feel better if you held onto the receipt. It’s something you can show portia since I botched things the first time around. Right. Jordan, this is what doesn’t make sense to me. You’re one of the most organized people I’ve ever known, so it just doesn’t add up that you would misplace the original papers. What can I say? Nobody’s perfect. I think I proved that during our marriage, right? Jordan, it takes two people to make a marriage and two people to mess it up. Now, let’s be honest — I think we both know that our marriage was over long before we signed those papers. Maybe for you. But not for me. Physically, you are recovering just fine. But as your doctor, it’s my job to treat the whole patient. And, ava, I want you to take care of yourself. To be honest, I-I’m — I’m a little bit worried about your well-being. Trina told me that you closed your gallery, and I know that that was far more than just a business to you. Well, actually, that — that’s your fiancé’s fault, really.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Chuckles ] How is that exactly? Uh, curtis came to see me, and he told me that he was worried about trina working in the gallery with some serial slasher roaming around. And — and he was right. As much as I hated that I won’t be working with trina for now, I… I have to do whatever I can to protect her from any future repeat attack, right? Yeah, and I think you did the right thing. I think you did the right thing for trina and for you. But I need you to know that working at your gallery was far more than just a job to trina. And I never got to thank you for arranging the fellowship at the chuck for her. Well, that — that was curtis’ idea, actually. I just made a couple of phone calls and gave trina a sterling recommendation, which she earned. Yeah, I just feel badly that — that trina seems to resent curtis for setting that in motion. She said she already has one protective father looking out for her. Right. Okay, well, if there isn’t anything else, I really have spent more than my fair share of time at G.H. Lately. Okay. There is just — just one more thing. I-I just want you to make sure that you are focusing on keeping yourself out of harm’s way, okay? A-and since the gallery is off limits, at least you know you’re gonna be safe at wyndemere, right? Esme is lying in the bottom of the harbor, courtesy of your wife. And no one need be any the wiser. Despite your ridiculous attempt to take the blame for the murder in order to woo ava. So you just proceed with this divorce as planned… and no more confessions in the name of love. Are we clear on that? Nikolas: “I, nikolas cassadine… of sound mind and body do hereby acknowledge and confess that I, and I alone, am responsible for the disappearance of esme prince. I know this because I killed her.” The means? My own two hands. Victor: Nikolas. You always were a poor judge of women and a — a fool for their charms. So I want you to tell me the truth. What else does ava got on you? Esme: Bad for you, oz. But good for me.

I am no longer living at wyndemere. I’m happy that nina has offered me a place to stay, stay with her. I’m grateful for that. And plus there’s the added benefit of knowing that sonny’s looking out for nina, so… which means that he’ll be looking out for you. Yeah, well, you know, as avery’s mother, sonny does want to keep me safe. Well, good. You know, I’m glad that you have someplace — someplace to go, but, um… but what? Ava, you know I have no love for nikolas or his son spencer. But I do know that you’re still in love with your husband, even after everything that’s happened. And I just hope, for your sake, that you really finally leave nikolas and never look back. I gotta say, I’m surprised to hear you say that. But I’m with portia now. I know. All I’m saying is, is I never made it a secret about how I felt. I was ready to fight for our marriage if you had been. I couldn’T. According to the coroner, he was likely attacked by the same woman with a hook. They weren’t able to identify him, but I recognized him right away. Because he’d been a patient here not that long ago. Well, who is it?! That bartender guy who testified at trina’s trial.

[ Elevator bell dings ] Oz haggerty? Wai– ava. Ava? Don’t you think we should talk about this? No. I-I have to go. You just don’t get it. It’s not about what ava has on me or what I have on her.

[ Scoffs ] Well, tell that to the young lady ava pushed over the parapet. Ava swears that it was an accident. Well, fine. Say that I, uh — say I believe here. Do you really think the police would? Or a jury? Ava had just discovered you had slept with your son’s girlfriend. She was out for revenge on esme. And to frame you for the crime… would be an act of love. Ava didn’t twist my arm. She didn’t threaten me. I proved to her that she could trust me again in spite of the terrible mistake that I made with esme. I earned ava’s trust by putting my life in her hands. And I did it willingly, with my eyes wide open. But you can’t understand that, can you, uncle? I can understand you’re acting like a damn fool. It’s sad. But, yeah, dex was brought in as a person of interest until diane told us that her attacker was a woman. Why? Well, before diane made her id, sonny took matters into his own hands and almost played judge, jury, and executioner. Look. If you don’t believe me, go talk to dex. I already told you.
