And killed my brother. Yeah. So yeah, I’m — I’m glad he’s dead. And I feel…I don’t know. I feel kind of free. And now that I do, I’M… thinking about my future. Sorry I missed the staff meeting. How’d it go? It was great. How are the kids? Oh, they’re good. That’s not why I was late. Um… I was late because I went to file my divorce papers. Already? Already. Honey, how do you feel? Like a failure. Did you forget something?

[ Exhales deeply ] You are an absolute lifesaver. I have a huge exam to study for, and all of my notes are on this. I-I figured. What’s going on?

[ Down-tempo music plays ] Um, my mom called. She filed the papers, so the divorce is in motion. She just wanted me to be prepared for questions from donna and avery and help them transition, so… I am so sorry that you r familyis going through this, michael. So, what’s on your mind, nina? What “strange things” have been happening to elizabeth? Well, there was A… fire at franco’s art studio. The police think it was arson. Really? Really. And then, you know, the night of our first date, uh, elizabeth found her wedding ring in her locker at work, which was a little bizarre, because she had left it at home. And then — there’s more? Yeah, there’s more. She was gonna donate some clothing, and she discovered the dress she wore when she married franco had been completely cut to shreds. It’s suspicious that everything had significance to franco. Yeah, it is. You know, we thought maybe one of the boys was having a problem with, you know, me seeing their mom. Those are…sophisticated pranks for kids. Agreed. Then again, these boys aren’t little kids anymore.

[ Dramatic music plays ]

[ Gasps ]

Cameron. Mom, I am so sorry. I did not mean to startle you. Are you okay? I’m — I’m sorry. I didn’t hear you come in. I just… I was so distracted… by the portrait. Wait. T-that’S… that’s the portrait of you that franco painted. I-I thought it was destroyed in the fire. So did I. But when I walked in, it was just — it was just here. I never thought I would see it again. Hold on. You — you didn’t put it there? No. No. Was it here when you got home? Yeah. But that was like 10 minutes ago. I crashed at carter’s dorm room. Mom, what’s going on? I’m not sure. Aiden spent the night at laura’s last night, a-and jake is on an overnight trip with the school, so I slept at the hospital. As far as I know, nobody’s even been home for the past 24 hours, which means whoever put that there was… in our house. I need to check on the boys and make sure they’re okay and where they’re supposed to be. Mom, what should I do? Call the police. Chase: Okay. Whoever’s doing this had access to elizabeth’s wedding ring, which means they also had access to her house and knew where her locker was at general hospital. Do you remember what day it was, or if her locker showed any signs of being tampered with? Because we can check the footage at general hospital — whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down. Remember how I told you I ran into nina the other night at the hospital? The night that I found out about her and my dad? Yes. She made a point of asking if there was a way for her to see wiley, even if she and carly could never get along. And I’m guessing she skipped past the part where my mom had just found her and my dad in bed together. She played me, michael. She intentionally held back about what she’d done, knowing full well something that monumental would have ramifications for our whole family and, of course, affect her relationship with wiley. Look, you know how I feel about nina, but my dad does not get a pass. He’s just as much to blame. It is a pattern with nina. She — she reaches out, makes a pitch for access to wiley, and carefully omits whatever objectionable things she’s done. I-I don’t want to keep wiley from family members who love him, but I think you were right all along. Nina…is not the type of person I want in wiley’s life. I know exactly what I want, ’cause I’m starving. Can I get you something? No, thank you. I’m good. Auntie, would you please get me a double order of what you’re having?

[ Chuckles ] Coming right up. Wow.

[ Laughs ] Okay. She won’t be gone long. You better talk fast. What is going on with you and does it have to do with sonny? Wow. That was a quick change of subject. Come on, nina. The last time I saw you was at the savoy, and you defused tensions between sonny and my father. Yeah. He wasn’t himself that night. Yeah. I kind of came to that conclusion myself. But your dad — I’ve never seen anyone stand up to sonny like that. Apparently, it’s not his first time dealing with a man of sonny’s caliber. Interesting. How do you feel about that? Nice deflection, nina. I just accepted it. And I accepted the fact that I’m never gonna get the answers that I want from marshall, so I let it go. And it definitely eased tensions between my father and me. But then things changed.

[ Sighs ] Olivia: It’s 5:00 somewhere.

[ Chuckles ] I know I made the right decision. It’s just hitting me really hard. Of course it is — ’cause you’re not a robot. Want to talk about it? No. I-I think I should just work. No. No, no, no, no. No, honey. Honey, forget work. Just lay it on me, okay? What — what is the strongest emotion you’re feeling right now? Disappointment. I mean, obviously in sonny, but in myself because I just want to be done with it. Yeah. I want so badly not to care. And I keep asking myself over and over again, “what happened?” I mean, how could my marriage be over? How could I mean so little to sonny in the end? I… but then I know I have to stop myself because whatever sonny does or however sonny feels, it’s not my problem anymore. I am considering a leadership position at aurora, taking a more active role. And I know that you hired michael to head up digital. He’s doing a great job, right? Those numbers are solid. So I don’t want to step on what he’s doing, but…I do have ideas of where the company should go. You don’t need my approval. You realize that you still own the company? And now that jax has divested due to conflict of interest, you can implement anything you want.

Did something happen to sourthings between you and your dad? I thought you were making progress with marshall. We were. Where’s the food? It’s coming. You were saying? Well, you know, um, portia and i are moving in together, and so the equation has changed. Well, that’s great news! I’m glad things are working out for you. Thanks. They are, you know, but, um, with my situation changing, I just need to know more about my father’s past. I thought you had made your peace with that. You know, I was keeping an open mind. I mean, marshall, of his own admission, said that he got mixed up with some dangerous people. So now that portia is gonna be living with me, I need to know that I am not putting her life at risk. So if I’m gonna let marshall in my life, I need to know more about his. Give him time. It’s not dependent on marshall anymore. Drew is helping me find out what marshall’s been hiding.

Except it didn’T. Somehow, that painting survived. And whoever broke in placed it front and center in my house. Cameron: Hey, mom. They’re here. I have to go. The police are here. Okay. I am all for keeping nina away from wiley, especially now. But I don’t know.Something tells me that we — we should take our time, you know, look at the situation from all angles so we know that emotion isn’t driving our decision. [ Sighs ] We — we judged brook lynn and chase for sleeping together when the whole time, they were actually trying to protect maxie’s baby. Okay. We definitely owe them an apology. I especially owe one to brook lynn. Hey, actually, you know what? Why — why don’t we, uh — why don’t we stop by there tonight? Can you pull yourself away from… I can’T. I have a big exam tomorrow. Well, then it sure seems like on the surface that whoever this arsonist is is the same person who broke into your house. Oh, my god.

[ Down-tempo music plays ] I think I know who did this. I want to expand into the jazz arena. With aurora’s reach, I-I really believe that we can help talented artists connect with their audiences. But I got to confess — I… I mean, I’m not even a novice. I know — I know little to nothing about jazz at all. So I need expert advice. I need…a consultant or a concierge, if you will — somebody who really has a feeling for the music and the history and — and where it’s evolving. Sounds like I’m your man. I need your experience is what I need. Exactly. Good. Let’s talk about you and your background. Have you always strictly been a gig musician? It’s how I made the majority of my money. But, you know, that life is feast or famine, so from time to time, I had to take a variety of jobs in order to pay the bills. What about now? Oh, man. Give her credit for making her own choices. Okay. But what about trina? I don’t want to gamble with her safety. I-I-I pulled her out of danger one time, and I don’t want to put her back in it again. I need complete answers. I understand that, curtis. I’m just worried you’re going about it in the wrong way. Instead of you and drew sneaking around into marshall’s past like spies, why don’t you just do like I’ve suggested and talk to him? Auntie, I have tried repeatedly. It’s — with marshall, it’s always a dead end. Now, he’s made it abundantly clear that he’s only gonna tell me so much. Now, I know you have your opinions, aunt stella, but could you please trust that I know what I’m doing? You remember when I interfered with you and portia’s relationship? How could I forget? I stuck my nose in where it didn’t belong, and trina was hurt as a result. You keep poking around behind marshall’s back, and someone could get hurt. And I’m afraid that someone could be you.

[ Knock on door ] Michael. Uh, brook lynn’s not here. Um, can I come in? Sure. Uh… well, I was kind of hoping to talk to the both of you. Do you — will she be back soon? Brook lynn’s in bensonhurst, visiting her mother. It’s been rough on her, giving bailey back to maxie. She needed to decompress. That’s got to hurt like hell. Look, I’m, uh — I’m packing up my things, and you and I are far from friends right now, so whatever it is you want to talk about, can it wait? I’m afraid not.

[ Clears throat ] It won’t take long, I promise. I was just — I was hoping that after our conversation the other day that you were more open to having me spend some time with wiley — maybe this weekend. Yeah. I’m sorry. I-I can’t talk about this right now. Because I’m really missing my — my grandson. I know you have to discuss it with michael, but I was wondering if you could give me any indication how he’s feeling. I am astounded that you would ask me about wiley, given the situation with michael’s parents. I’m sorry that carly and sonny weren’t able to work things out. But I don’t see why that has any bearing on my relationship with wiley. Carly caught you in bed with sonny. You went after a married man like a heat-seeking missile, and you don’t see why michael and i would have a problem with that? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that you found out. Listen, willow. I never intended for that to happen.

[ Sighs ] Do — do you keep a running tally of how many times you use that phrase? I’m just curious. How many lives have been damaged or ruined by things you never intended? How the hell can you ask me to advocate for you when I don’t believe a word you say?

This is a job interview, marshall. Yeah, right. And you’re only doing it because curtis asked you to help me out. Or do you really expect me to believe you’d hire a musician you don’t even know in order to be your “jazz concierge”? I’m nobody’s charity case, my man — least of all my son’S. This interview is over. Marshall, just… hear me out. I…came to apologize. For what? Look, I-I had no right coming down so hard on you about brook lynn and bailey. And… so I’m — I’m sorry. [ Down-tempo music plays ] No. That was way too easy. Look, I’m in the middle of packing up my entire life right now, so I don’t really have it in me to lay into you right now, even though you most definitely deserve it. Hey, look — look, man.

[ Sighs ] You loved bailey, too, and I can only imagine what you must be going through right now, having to let her go. So wouldn’t you feel a little bit better just — just unloading? I mean, you took heat from a lot of people, m-m-myself included. You got suspended from the pcpd while you were just trying to protect that little girl. Look, you were doing a good thing, and I had no right to judge. So I just wanted — you had zero right. You acted like me sleeping with brook lynn — which did not happen, by the way — was on par with what you and willow did to me. Michael, you slept with my wife! And then you had the nerve to lay into me because I hurt her feelings? Cut the crap. The real reason you are here is to absolve your own guilt. It is selfish… and it’s self-righteous. You feel better? Actually, yeah. Yeah, I do. You have a suspect? Betsy frank. Franco’s mother? Mm-hmm. Did you tell him about the other incidents? Yes. So what — what evidence do you have that points to betsy? Well, she sent me a valentine’s card. It was, um, very gothic, almost, uh, morbid. And so I called her today, and it turns out she’s in town, visiting franco’s grave. It’s a little too convenient. Don’t you think? She claims she just got here, but she could have been here for months. Right. Well, I’d like to see that card. But w-what were you and betsy talking about? She told me that she was here visiting franco’s grave and that she likes to pretend like he’s still alive. And she also knows that I’m dating finn because she follows me on social media, which makes me wonder if that just pushed her over the edge. Listen, I don’t know this woman at all, but for her to go to these lengths seems kind of extreme. Yeah. Betsy’s not all there on a good day. And now she’s grieving. People can be pushed to do desperate things while they’re grieving. Nina: Where is this even coming from? I thought we had a cordial conversation the other day. So did I. But I’ve realized it’s just part of your pattern, nina. Every time I think we’ve made headway, I find out that you’ve held back information or just plain lied by omission. Well, what happened between me and sonny wasn’t anyone else’s business. Then why go out of the way to drop hints that things between you and carly were irreconcilable?

[ Down-tempo music plays ] This isn’t the first time you’ve thrown me under the bus, but it’s the last. If you’re going to create discord between michael’s parents and then turn around and make nice to me while withholding that information, I’m going to feel used, played. And trust me, I will resent it. I am not trying to play you at all. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. I am so appreciative that you’ve been trying to be my ally. I am not your ally, nina. I am wiley’s mother. And until he’s old enough, it is my job to decide what is best for him, and that includes vetting the people he spends time with. Wiley — he’s my family. He’s my grandson. He’s the only thing that I have left of my daughter. He’s my blood. Blood doesn’t entitle you to have a relationship with someone. Not if you’re going to hurt them.

You should just trustthat marshall knows what’s safe and what’s not safe. He’s the one that’s lived his life. He’s in a much better position to judge than you are. I want to know and trust my father, but I can’t do that when he’s so closed off. Well, he needs to trust you, too, curtis. Give the relationship time to grow. Put in the work. Maybe then marshall will disclose the things that you want to know. But mark my words, baby. If you sneak around in his private business, there will be no chance of that happening. Curtis did ask me to interview you for this job. And I was happy to oblige because I need a jazz musician, and he thought you’d be a really good fit. I agreed, and so… I mean, I don’t know. Is it so terrible your son’s just trying to help you out?

[ Sighs ] You know, I… I suppose not. Look, if my friendship with curtis complicates things at all, feel free to walk away. For sure — no harm, no foul whatsoever. I just got to look elsewhere, I guess. I don’t want to be hasty. The job does sound interesting. Okay, good. Look. If we are gonna work together, I do have to tell you our company’s hr policies. Aurora has got contracts with the government, and due to their sensitive nature, I have liaison with intelligence agencies to do in-depth background checks just as a precaution. Wow. Is all that really necessary? Yeah, I’m afraid so. It’s — it’s a condition of employment, standard company policy — just to make sure there’s no security issues or clearance issues, anything like that. It’s pretty simple. Hr sends you some forms. You just put in past employers, your past addresses, your — I don’t know — aliases in case you performed under a stage name. Yeah. Yeah. I see. You know what?

[ Clears throat ] This job doesn’t sound like I’m gonna have enough time for my own music. I’m gonna have torespectfully decline. I hope there are no hard feelings. No, no. You know, I hope to — hope to see you at my gig. Absolutely. I look forward to it. Thank you for your time. Yeah. Sure thing. What you said about me feeling guilty… you’re right. You know, I will always wish you guys didn’t lie to me. But I completely understand why you did it. Why is it when we try to do the right thing, we always end up lying? It’s definitely counterintuitive. Yeah. Well, you know what? When it comes to doing the right thing, you definitely win. I mean, this is the second child you saved, right? Yeah, but you and willow… kind of saved my life. So I guess we’re even. Oh. Yeah. Thanks. But not even close. Okay. Uh, then why don’t you help me close that gap by…

What about boys? You think maybe she would’ve checked in with one of them? Maybe they could have told her. I haven’t spoken to her. And, I mean, how weird would that be if she contacted either jake or aiden? Right, a-and jake and aiden, they didn’t mention anything when you checked in with them, right? I didn’t tell them about the break-in. I just wanted to make sure they were okay. Right. I never considered that betsy could be using my sons. Well, hey, I-in case one of the kids is involved, I’ll keep a low profile on this, all right? At least take that worry off your mind. You were looking pretty good out there, girl. Who knew it would be so much fun and feel incredible to throw an axe? I mean, who came up with this business model? I think a lumberjack.

[ Laughter ] Well, if only we could throw axes at all of our problems. Although, I guess in sonny and nina’s case, that might not be a very good thing. Yeah. Do you guys really think it’s a good idea to drink beer and throw axes at the same time? I do. Okay, then.

[ Laughs ] Speaking of sonny, I just signed away all my claims to community property. Do you really think that’s a good idea? I just wanted it to be over, and I just want to move forward. And you think you can?

[ Down-tempo music plays ] Not right now. I can’t move past all the damage nina did, no matter how hard I try. And I don’t think I’ll be able to move past it until nina pays. Yeah. I don’t blame you. But karma is gonna take care of this. Nina will get what’s coming to her. Karma takes too long. Honey…it’s not healthy to focus on revenge. You know what? I think olivia is right. You have got a new life ahead of you. Why don’t you just focus on that? Nina: How can you say that to me? I would never hurt wiley. Nina, I don’t doubt your love for wiley. I just never know what I’m going to get with you. Well, know this. I think about him all the time, and I miss him every single day. I realize that I have made mistakes. It might be hard to believe this, but I am learning from my mistakes, willow, and I promise I will be more forthcoming in the future. I want to keep the door open for wiley to have a relationship with you. But michael is another story, and I’m starting to understand where he’s coming from. Do not keep me from my grandchild.

Maybe what drew and i had planned is the wrong move. Yes. Just be patient a little while longer, and I believe you’ll learn everything you need to know. And then you can make better decisions to keep all of us safe. And that’s all that matters.

She could have hurt them and i wasn’t here to protect them — hey, mom. I can protect us just fine, okay? In fact, you know what? I’m gonna get someone to cover my shift at kelly’s tonight. [ Suspenseful music plays ] Scott! Hey. Scott: Oh, hey. What brings you by? Oh, a client, a little slip-and-fall case. So, peter august. He finally got what he deserved. Of course, I wanted him to go to trial and be charged with murdering franco ’cause I don’t want anybody to ever forget that. Yeah, me neither. You know? Do you have a minute? Yeah, sure. What’s going on? Do you get the sense that jake or aiden might resent me dating finn? Aiden? No. Jake? Most definitely.

[ Knock on door ] Looking very good behind that desk, my friend. Not too shabby, huh? Not too shabby at all. And I’m sorry I’ve been so remiss in not coming by before now to see your new digs. That’s okay. You have a law practice…

[ Door closes ] You know, whenever I try to bribe my son, tj, into meeting me, I invite him here. Yeah. [ Chuckles ] They’re a weakness of mine, too. Just having lunch with a friend. Right, right. So, uh… you still hang with criminals?

[ Door opens ] -Hey. -Hi. Hey, I just — I wanted to see how you’re doing, now that… now that bailey’s back with maxie, her real mother, the way it was always intended to be? It’s still got to hurt. Big time. You already packed? I’m working on it.

[ Sighs ] There’s no point in staying here. Oh.

About an hour after maxie picked bailey up, brook lynn came downstairs with a suitcase, claimed she was going to bensonhurst to visit her mother. Oh. Does, uh… does lois know the whole story? Just the basics. She said she wanted to explain everything to her face-to-face, but I think she just needed to get away.

[ Breathes deeply ] I guess the house probably feels pretty empty without bailey in it. And me. Because you’re moving out. Y-yeah, there’s no point in me staying here, now that the whole charade is over. Yeah. You know, I saw you two together, you and brook lynn. I saw you in action when bailey went missing. You’re pretty good together, right? You were there for each other. You held each other up. I was sort of thinking maybe you would… lean on each other again to get through this. So did I. But then I kissed her, and she ran. Aiden and jake told me they like finn. Well, aiden likes him okay. Jake complains a lot, though. He does? Yes, but jake’s a teenager. I’m lucky to get him to talk at all. I mean, they really just want to text. But jake complains about his brother, about finn, about no good action movies. I mean… I’ve been worried about him since jason died. Do you think he could be acting out? Acting out? I mean, why would you say that? Well, some weird things have been happening recently. Like my wedding ring — I decided to take it off… I noticed that, and — and I think that that’s good. I think that shows that you’re moving on, which is great, elizabeth. Okay, but the night that finn and I decided to have our first official date, I found my ring in my locker here at G.H., Like it was some kind of reminder of franco before I went out on my date. So, y-you think that jake did that? I-I think that’s a little bit of a stretch. I know, I know. I agree. But who else could it be? I mean, how did my ring get from my house to my locker? And I asked the kids. They denied it, and they seemed sincere, jake included. But now, with what you’re saying, I don’t know. Do you think jacob’s trying to tell me something? You, of all people, know the value of deniability.

[ Chuckles ] You are not hired — therefore, you are not protected by attorney-client privilege. Well, if harmony admits to the forgery, which I hope was never used in the commission of a crime, then it doesn’t matter what I know. Speculation, counselor.

[ Laughs ] I hope that the person in question is going to do the right thing. And I’m speaking hypothetically because, you know, I have to protect my sources. Oh, that’s right, because you’re in — you’re in journalism now. Alexis: Yeah. So you got to protect your sources. Alright, well, hypothetically speaking, I hope the person in question… …is trustworthy, that your trust is well-placed. With regard to harmony, she did come through, in the end, with her testimony against shiloh, but the woman has a long history of manipulation, and I would hate to see you taken advantage of. Is this your way of saying that you don’t trust

my judgment? Criminals?

[ Scoffs ] I’m not sure who you’re referring to. I’m referring to bucky. He and I go way back to some of my more nefarious days. And I suppose you can say he’s somewhat of an artist. Yeah, nobody can craft a fake id like bucky. Driver’s license, passport — you name it. Really? I had no idea. I thought you said he was your friend. More of a drinking buddy. Plays a mean game of darts. But, um, thank you for your concern. Mm. I’m a big girl. You know, I really don’t care what you do with your life, unless it affects alexis. I fail to see how the occasional darts buddy would, uh, affect alexis. You know, alexis has a lot of folks in port charles who care about her, none of whom will let you drag her into something shady. Alexis is perfectly capable of taking care of herself. That she is. But you missed my point. Alexis no longer has to take care of herself. She isn’t isolated in spring ridge. She has friends,

real friends, and loved ones around her. You’d do well to watch your step. Carly, please, don’t start. We need to talk. You — you already told me we have nothing to say. Um, sonny, I’m going to go. No, no, no, it’s okay. Hold on. No, I-I was going to go, anyway, remember? Alright. You guys go ahead. Come in and I’ll be in in a second.

[ Sighs ] Sonny: What’s going on? Is this about donna? It’s about jason.

I’m glad alexis has a strong support system around her. It’s a challenge, reentering society and starting over, as we both know.

[ Door closes ] Finn: Let me get this straight. You kissed brook lynn… and she left town. Yeah. And I know how bad that sounds. Sounds like you need to check your ego. -What?! -Yeah. I mean, brook lynn just gave up the — the child that she raised as her own since birth, and you think it’s your disgusting kiss that sent her running? Okay, thank you [Claps hands] For stopping by. I don’t know where to start. Start with the truth, alright? Up until now, when you’ve talked about your feelings for brook lynn, it’s been shaded by the pretense that you were bailey’s father. [ Sighs ] Jake is — I’m telling you — he is mentally stable, but he is a teenage boy, and with that comes a lot of angst and a lot of, you know, trouble. Yeah, I-I know, I know. And I’m hoping that’s all it is. Yeah, but, you know… planting your ring in your locker, you know, that sends a message. It could all be a little more sinister as well. Now, I don’t think jake would ever do that, but somebody did it, and that is harassment. There have been some other odd occurrences. A-anything dangerous? No. They might not even be related. Elizabeth, listen to me, okay? Now, if anything goes on that seems fishy, sketchy, you get a hold of me. There are a lot of crackpots out there. Promise me that.

[ Chuckling ] Okay. Betsy: There you are. They said you were on this floor. I was beginning to wonder. Betsy, what are you doing here? I got your message. You said you were at work, so, here I am. But I just called you. I was already in town. To visit bobby. You came to see franco? I thought you’d want to know that maxie is safe and peter august is dead. It’s about damn time. Thank you for making the trip all the way over here. Dante was here earlier. And you’re here because…? Well, I was in switzerland. I can give you the details if you want them. Ah, well, I know all I need to know. He died like the dog he was. I can attest to that. Um… well, you said what you came to say. I can give you a ride back, if you want. No. Thank you. But I’m not done here. Sonny and I need to get a few things straight.

I didn’t know you were in port charles. I was at bobby’s grave when you called. I can’t believe it’s already a year since we lost him. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of my sweet boy. I know you understand. You loved him, too. I did, very much. I called because I wanted you to know peter august, the man who killed franco, is dead. I’m glad. After the hard life bobby had, he finally found happiness with you and your boys. You should’ve had more time together. That man, peter august, he robbed us all of years we should’ve had with bobby. Franco will always be in my heart. He feels very present for me, too. Sometimes I can almost pretend he’s still here. Well, he would want you to be happy and to keep living your life. Easier said than done. I know. I’ve had a hard time with it, too. But I’m slowly startingto find life after franco. I’m even seeing someone.

[ Chuckles ] Oh, I know. I know all about it. My relationship with brook lynn, it’s complicated. But, first of all, brook lynn and i are friends. That’s why, when I figured out what was going on between her and maxie, and then I saw that valentin was about to blow everything up, I-I stepped in to help cover for her. And — and it was intense — you know, acting like bailey’s father and assuming all these new responsibilities, but I saw how relieved brook lynn was when — when she had someone to talk to. You know, she could tell me because I knew the truth. I mean, she was carrying that all by herself, and she was taking hits from her family, and she was terrified that peter would find out and do exactly what he did — kidnap bailey. I never thought I’d say this, but… let’s get to the kissing.

[ Sighs ] Right. Um. Brook lynn and I, we’re friends, right? And we — we had this, this huge secret together, so there were times we’d look at each other… mm-hmm. …And I thought, you know, maybe. Mm-hmm. But then, the — the moment didn’t last very long, and nothing ever happened between us until… we found out the news that maxie was safe, peter was dead, and everything was over. And, bro, I-I couldn’t — I couldn’t take my eyes off her, and — and I couldn’t pull away — not that I wanted to — and — and I kissed her. And? Uh, afterwards, she kind of, uh, she dodged the moment, you know? And I could tell brook lynn wasn’t into it, so… I let it go. You let it go? You just let it go? Well, it sounds like this kiss wasn’t A… spur-of-the-moment thing, at least not for you. Kind of begs the question — do you have feelings for brook lynn?

[ Door closes ] Dad. Hey. Hey, hey. Sorry I’m late. I was in surgery. Not a problem, doc. I hope your surgery was a success. Get this. It started as a simple breast reduction, right? Mm-hmm. The patient was experiencing some back problems, so she opted to have a reduction mammoplasty. But while she was on the table, we discovered a tumor. A tumor, as in breast cancer? Right. Now, this was a young woman with no family history, no symptoms or indications of breast cancer. Mm-hmm. And we were able to remove the entire tumor during the reduction procedure. And we don’t know if it’s invasive, yet, but my guess is we caught it early. And women who are diagnosed at the time of breast reduction have a statistically better chance of survival than the general population, so I’m optimistic.

[ Chuckles ] I think — I think we might have saved this woman’s life, not just her back. Right. This is definitely worth being a little late for, huh, you know? And we have another reason to celebrate. What’s the first one? I just want you to know how, you know, how great these past few months have been, you know? Getting the chance to, you know, really hang out with you and get to know you. For me, as well, but why are you talking like it’s over?

[ Laughs ] Never, okay? But I do have some news. Okay. I found this interesting business opportunity, and, uh… I’m going to have to move to san francisco.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ] Hey. Okay, guess what — there’s no need to track me down, drew, okay? Because that collision at sonny’s penthouse — that was an unfortunate accident. I don’t want to run into carly, either. I really try hard to avoid her altogether. So, I just came here to get something to eat. Oh, o-okay. I’m sorry. Um. It’s just my friend phyllis, she — she manages this place and I just was hoping to talk to her. Okay, well, yeah, no harm done. Um… since I ran into you, I… might as well say thank you. Di…

[ Diane chuckles ] …Have I fallen so low in your eyes that, shockingly, you think that I won’t know if somebody’s manipulating me? Hm… well, as you know, that’s the whole point of manipulation — the person being targeted never being aware… mm-hmm. …That they are being manipulated. That being said, I believe in you. Do you? Do you? ‘Cause I’m not feeling it. You forged a relationship with harmony at spring ridge. She was the only person you could talk to during a period of time when you were uncharacteristically vulnerable. When i was vulnerable? Well, how else would you describe incarceration? Yes, it was minimum security, but it was a far cry from the life that you’re used to, and I doubt that your fellow inmates were big on scintillating conversation. Harmony’s the closest thing that you had to a contemporary… yeah. …While you were at spring ridge. But now you’re out, and I’m just worried that her motives are less than pure. And are you sure that she is someone who deserves your support?

[ Knock on door ] Come in! Oh, sorry. Am I interrupting? Ah, no. Diane was just leaving. Yes, I was just leaving. I have things to do. Nice to see you behind a desk again. I will call you next week. How did willow take it when you told her that you weren’t her birth mother? What’s on your mind, carly? I don’t have a say about avery. I don’t want nina staying over when donna’s here. It’s gonna be a confusing enough situation for donna. Well, I mean, unless nina’s going to be a permanent fixture, right?

[ Chuckles ] No, it’s not like that. I wouldn’t do anything to hurt donna or avery. You should know that. There’s a lot I thought I knew about you, sonny, but you proved me wrong, so I’m not gonna take anything for granted. Do you really think I would– I-I wouldn’t put donna and avery first? I know you’re a good father, so I trust that you will act in the girls’ best interest, okay? Nina: You went out on yet another bender last night, right? Right. Well, I’m not claiming to be some kind of expert here, but I do know this — aside from the physical health concerns, alcohol can dull the effects of the medication. Even though you’re back on your meds, you could still be emotionally vulnerable until it fully kicks in.

Carly: I would like to bring donna saturday. I mean, it’s her first night staying with you, so I want to make the transition as easy as possible. And I’d also like to be there when you show her her new bedroom, and I want to bring some toys over so she feels comfortable. No, no, no. W– we’re — we’re not — we’re not going to do that.

Well, you sure know how to ask the loaded questions. Hey, you’re welcome. I don’t know how to feel about brook lynn. Alright. Well, I mean, on the surface, you’re not an obvious match. Oh, I mean, tell me about it. I — at the beginning, I could not stand brook lynn.

[ Laughs ] I thought she was

so selfish, and she came across self-centered. Mm. But that was just a front. Really? -Mostly. -Hm. The more I got to know brook lynn, I was so impressed by — by her strength, you know, and her courage. I mean, yeah, she’s — oh, she’s gorgeous. And — and she makes me laugh. And she’s so loyal. I mean… fiercely loyal. And [Laughs] She’s — she’s a trip. Okay, I’ll say it. She’s — she’s a trip. But underneath all that attitude, she’s got a — she’s got a big heart. As do you, bro. I mean, she just gave up bailey after being her mother for months. I mean, can you imagine the emotional roller coaster? You know, I’ve let willow down over and over again, and it’s just because of her big heart that we even have a relationship. And — and now that we’re talking, she’s letting me get to know my grandson wiley, and I-I cannot lose that! I can’t lose either of them! I understand this is difficult. I really do. It’s not that. I — I actually went off my medication for a bit. For how long?! A few days. Um. But I’m — I’m back on, and I just want to make sure that the, you know, the — the levels are up before donna stays the night. Nina: Carly, please, just wait. Sonny, he loves you. What he feels about me, that isn’t real. He wants to be with you. He needs you. I’m not gonna do this. I made it clear that I’m not gonna argue with you on the subject of my marriage. I’ve nothing left to say to you. Nina knew you were off your meds. Didn’t she?

If betsy is pretending that franco’s not dead, maybe she thinks I’m cheating on him with finn. Well, that woman is out of her gourd, so let’s go find her, and let’s see what’s going on. No! Wait, wait, no, no. W-we can’T. We don’t have any proof that she’s done anything more than grieve the man she thought was her son. Well, that man was my son, and that crazy woman chiseled me out of a lot of years with franco. And her grip on reality is tenuous, at best, elizabeth. It’s only been a year since franco died. I know she’s struggling, but I don’t think betsy’s dangerous. Shawn butler, media mogul.

[ Glasses clink ] Mmm. Well, I will feel a lot more impressive when molly and i finally move out of her mom’s house. Now, with our schedules, it has taken a lot longer to find a place, but we finally did. Yeah, you found an apartment? More like molly did, but it’s this real nice building on the edge of the charles street district. Molly fell in love with it, but there were no vacancies, and every other place we considered, she’d find some flaw and bring up that building. So, one sunday, she finally dragged me over there to, you know, knock on doors… yeah. …Introduce ourselves, leave a card, just in case someone was thinking of moving. What do you know? The ground floor tenants are moving out, and we put in an application the same day.

[ Chuckling ] Well, congratulations. Right? It sounds like you found the perfect space. But you — you’re still gonna see alexis, right? Of course. Uh, why do you ask? I’m — I’m worried.

[ Breathes deeply ] Molly and I were, too, when she first got out of spring ridge. But ever since you made her editor-in-chief of the invader, she’s active, she’s engaged. All seems right with alexis’ world. Actually, it’s her affiliation with harmony I’m worried about. How did you explain to willow that you suddenly found the birth certificate, when she and michael have been looking for it for weeks? Um, okay, I said that, uh, clairborne county was rural and underpopulated, with an antiquated recordkeeping system, which is true, and then I-I just said I did a lot of coaxing, called in a few favors, and managed to unearth her birth certificate. She believe that? I think she was just, you know, so relieved at the thought of getting her actual birth certificate. But she isn’t! I know! I know I bought another fake, and I know it’s against the law! You know who else knows that? Me. I know it’s against the law. At least it’s a victimless crime. I mean, it’s not like you stole the baby. I mean, the mother abandoned the baby. Right? You have a legal problem, but you have a bigger emotional one, and I’ll tell you why. Because you cannot have an honest relationship with willow when there’s this huge lie in the middle of it. Now, it is not too late to tell the truth. I can’t, alexis. I’m — I’m not strong enough. I’m not strong like you. My opinion of you, it’s not shaped by what I’ve been told. It’s actually based on what you’ve done, and what you did to sonny and his family is so appalling. It’s selfish beyond belief, really. And let’s be honest right now because sonny’s just not a simple coffee importer, right? His absence kind of created a — a power vacuum, which, in turn, made it very dangerous for his “widow.” I mean, carly could have died trying to keep his company together. Well, I am sorry that I don’t know the inner workings of the mob. Look, nina, you may not have known the details, but you were very, very aware of — of the general circumstances. The bottom line is that you are a liar, and those lies created a world of damage. And I’m gonna be really clear about something right now. Carly is my friend… and I am not gonna sit around and let her get hurt. I did not tell nina I was off my medication. She figured it out. Right. And nina made a point of telling me that you needed me. And, at the time… okay. …I thought it was manipulation, but it wasn’t — it was classic nina. She was just trying to clear her conscience, so she could tell herself that she tried, when, really, what she should’ve done, sonny, is tell me that you were off your bipolar medication! I did not want you to know. Why?! I didn’t — I didn’t — why didn’t you want me to know? I didn’t want to cause you any more trouble. I didn’t want to worry you. I did not want you to come back to me out of pity! How many times have I gotten you through a breakdown? How many times? Many times. That’s why I didn’t want to ask you for help again, because of what was going on between us. Yet again… …you can’t trust me enough to tell me the truth.

But that weakness doesn’t extend to letting someone take advantage of her mom. I’m just sorry I can’t be there to keep alexis from getting involved in whatever shady business harmony’s involved in. I think you should tell willow the truth. I think she deserves the truth. But it’s your life. It’s your decision. So — so, you’re not gonna write me off?

[ Sighs deeply ] You look beautiful. Thank you. I tried to call you on the way back, but wsb was debriefing me pretty much the entire flight. Well, you’re healthy. Yeah. And that’s the most important thing. Now, will you just shut up and give me a kiss? Yes, ma’am.
Well, I know how disappointed you must be to have to postpone your trip to paris. Yeah, well, uh, yeah, willow doesn’t have a passport. She’s having a little difficulty tracking down her birth certificate. According to the state department, they have no record of me. It’s almost like… I never existed. Hey, harmony, it’s alexis. I’m just checking in on you. Oh, is that what you’re calling it now? Or are you giving me a gentle nudge in the right direction?

[ Papers rustling lightly ] Hey. What happened? You wouldn’t have called me if you hadn’t been drinking. I’d have called you sober. Really? Yeah. That would have been a first. Look, you’re looking down the barrel of a divorce because you played fast and free with your meds. You don’t know that, nina, and I don’t know that. All I know right now, I’m going through a divorce. And you’re here, right? I just — I think that you’re avoiding the subject — no, no, I’m not, I don’t know what the subject — I forgot already. What’s the subject? No, it’s — so please don’t tell me that, um… it’s all good news. It’s all good news. Maxie is home, and she’s safe, and she is reuniting with her daughter as we speak. Oh, god, that’s such wonderful news. When I heard what maxie and brook lynn did to protect maxie’s baby from peter, it broke my heart. I know, I know, I know. But the good news is they never have to look over their shoulder again because peter is dead. The nightmare that he brought over all of us, that is over now. Now that it’s safe, maxie and her family, they can — they can be together again. I don’t want to cross that line with you. You don’t want to cross the li– the line’s already been crossed. Look, sonny, please don’t try to joke this way. I’m not. I just… I realize that I have made a lot of mistakes, okay? I’m not saying that I have, but a kiss between us should mean a lot more than a distraction technique from the real issue of you and your meds. It was not a technique, nina. No, the point is you went out on yet another bender last night, right? Right. Well, I’m not claiming to be some kind of expert here, but I do know this — aside from the physical health concerns, alcohol can dull the effects of the medication. Even though you’re back on your meds, you could still be emotionally vulnerable until it fully kicks in. So what — what we were about to do would be wrong, just like it was wrong the other day. Okay. What happened… between us… I wasn’t drinking. No, but you were drinking heavily days before and your — your — you know, your body is readjusting to all the meds. That would explain what happened between us at the haunted star… when carly walked in on us. What if I don’t want — what if I don’t want to e-explain it away? What if my drinking had nothing to do… …with what happened between us? Something big is happening? Like — like what?
[ Footsteps approaching ] Elizabeth. Finn, I am, uh — I’m so sorry to interrupt, but have either of you spoke to anna this morning? N-no. You? No. I haven’t spoken to her in a few days. Why? What’s going on? She was in europe, looking for peter, and he’s gone. Gone? Y-y– like, you mean got away again? Uh, no, no, no. I mean, the other kind of gone. He’s dead. Look, I know I’ve had a lot more time to process this, so I will say what you’re probably thinking. Peter has always managed to come back when we thought he was gone, but not this time. He is finally dead, and he will never be able to hurt us or our families or anyone else ever again. I know that it is a lot to process with peter’s death, but I knew that you’d be happy about that, about maxie. Yes, I am happy. I am so happy that peter is dead. I just… wish jason was here to see it. Jason, my brother and your… how would you describe jason? He was my person. He loved me unconditionally, despite my many faults, and I loved him. I still love him. He died saving the lives of people that he cared about. He…set a course in motion that led to peter’s downfall. My brother died a hero because that — that’s who he was. Well, he was certainly my hero, always there when I needed him. I still need him. You know, the medication and the alcohol… it doesn’t explain the connection between us. You’re drawn to me. I’m drawn to you. Like a moth to a flame. And the night at the haunted star was… a mistake for many reasons. The timing, hurting carly. And when we talked that night… …at the chapel… …I fell in love with you in nixon falls. I didn’t know who I was. And — and those — those feelings, they just don’T… disappear. Maybe the silver lining is, um, we now finally get to unpack what we mean to each other… without all the baggage and deception. I understand what you’re saying. Now they’re gonna hold on to the banner in llanview for legacy reasons, but they’re divesting from their west coast newspapers. So how is this affecting you? I’m thinking of using the cash flow from my nonprofit to buy them up, you know, to expand
the invader’s reach. That’s a huge deal. Congratulations.
[ Chuckles ] Yeah, there’s just one not-so-little catch. Uh, the main offices of that branch is located in san francisco, and I’d have to move there to make this work. Michael.
[ Clears throat ] Dr. Quartermaine, good to see you. Harmony. Hopefully you’re going to be able to help willow out with this birth-certificate issue. Monica, can we use the living room? Oh, of course, go right ahead. Thank you. Thanks. Do you think harmony is going to really be able to solve the mystery of the birth certificate? I don’t — I don’t know. The only way to make this work is if I move the nonprofit base of operations to san francisco. Well, at least for a while. You know, and maybe someday I can split my time from there and port charles. [ Chuckles ] Selfishly, I liked having you around again. Hey, I liked when we were all living together. It was nice. It was domestic. It was happy. It was like our happy little playing house. Like what it could’ve been all those years ago if I hadn’t royally screwed things up when we were a couple? I didn’t say that. But you were thinking it. [ Chuckles ] You know, I know there are a million reasons why I should move to the west coast. I’m just wondering if there was one better reason for me to stay. Um, uh… it — it turns out that I-I still have some connections in clairborne county. And their record-keeping system is badly outdated, but I, um, I called in a few favors, and they’re gonna send me a new copy of your birth certificate. That’s such great news. Yeah. [ Both chuckle ] Peter’s dead? Are you absolutely sure? Um, according to dante, yes. Anna saw peter take his last breath, and the wsb has possession of his body. They performed an autopsy, and they are filing all of the paperwork. The reign of terror that peter had is finally over. Finn: Elizabeth, are you okay? I don’t know how to answer that. I mean, peter was responsible for so much loss — franco’s death and jason’s death, all those months maxie was kept away from her baby. It just feels like there should be something more. Agreed. There was certainly something appealing about the thought of peter rotting in prison for the rest of his life, alone, knowing the world had completely forgotten about him. At least there’s no possibility of escape this time. I just thought knowing the threat was over, I’d feel some sort of closure. I mean, I’m relieved, but it doesn’t lessen everything we lost. I know — I know how you feel. Thank you for telling us. You don’t have to stick around. Hey, the way I see it, you and i have had our lives significantly turned upside down in the past year and a half. But jake and danny are jason’s sons. So in a way, we’re always gonna be connected. And you sought me out when you found out that jason was marrying carly because you know how I felt. I guess what I’m trying to say is… I’m always gonna have your back. Thanks. [ Exhales sharply ] I’m gonna give you some private time. I take it that things haven’t gotten any better between you and sonny. Well, you can’t get much worse than walking in on sonny in bed with nina. You know, that was definitely a low point. Oof. And when I saw sonny in bed with nina, all I wanted to do was run to jason.

[ Chuckles ] He had this way of making me feel like the world wasn’t gonna end, even though the sky was falling. You know what I mean? I do. Yeah, I know. But I’m glad I ran into you. You have the same touch. I was really worried that maybe I just kind of made everything worse… considering… we almost… almost. Sonny: Come in. Uh… I don’t know if anyone had, uh, reached out to you and let you know that, uh, peter august is dead. Really? Yeah. Wow. He won’t be hurting anyone ever again. Good. I wanted to make sure you heard it before the news broke. I’m gonna go to the quartermaines’ and let michael and monica know, but unless you wanted to let michael know yourself? No, no, it’s better that it’s coming from you. So you’re telling me that anna took peter out? Yeah, it was a team effort. I’m gonna check in on anna… -okay. Alright. -…See what’s going on. You made the right call… stepping back that night. Whatever pull was drawing us together, I really — I don’t — I don’t want that to jeopardize our friendship. Yeah. I, uh… we were both having a really bad night. I mean, I thought I was gonna spend the rest of my life with sonny. I’m sure you thought the same thing about sam. And like [Snaps fingers] That, everything changed. Well, we’re not exactly in the same boat. You and sonny are married. Married. Getting a divorce. Oh. I’m sorry. Yeah. Me too. I feel like I didn’t really have a choice, you know? I kept asking sonny over and over again to tell me what happened in nixon falls, and he just wouldn’T. He wanted to focus on the present, and I get that — I really do.

[ Chuckles ] But when the truth came out — because it always does — couldn’t believe how many secrets sonny was keeping from me. Then when I walked in on him in bed with nina, are you kidding me? I had to choose myself. And how can I be a good role model for josslyn and avery and donna if I stayed in a marriage that I wasn’t respected, you know? Look, I cannot argue with any of that. I can’T. S-so that’s it? It’s — it’s over? Yeah, it’s over. I mean, we — we met with the lawyers, and we kept it as civilized as we could, and we agreed that for donna and avery’s sake, we want to make this seamless as possible. But can we really do that? I mean [Laughs] Life is complicated. Hey. What? What is it? I just realized — does sonny know that peter’s dead? Does he have any idea that the man who killed jason is gone? Dante: You should know by now you can’t just push me away that easy. I’ve seen this before. I know what it is, and I know walking away would be a bad idea. You’re right. You’re right. I-I-I shouldn’t have snapped at you like that. It’s just I had a bad day yesterday. I met up with carly and the attorneys. We had to hammer out the divorce. Didn’t go very well. So, uh, I’m embarrassed to say that I went out, had A… lot of drinks. And, uh [Sighs] I feel like hell today. I’m hungover. No big mystery. That’s all. But we could, uh — we could go — we — we could have — some other time, we’ll have some coffee, we’ll talk. Alright. I didn’t know you and carly were doing divorce proceedings. Sorry about that. It’s just because of the way I raised you. It’s all my fault. You’re… you’re a seeker, mom. You ask the big questions, and you sincerely want to find a better way to live, a better way to be in the world. And that underlying impulse is a good one, even if some of the outcomes have been… horrible? Difficult. I’m sorry if — if this process dredged up some of our memories from the past. Well, that’s all it is now — in the past. And I’m so glad we get to move on from it. Together. I’ll give you two reasons — tj and molly. Tj is a full-grown man, and my son is not what I was talking about, and you know that. When we reconnected last year, it was — it felt like fate. It did?

[ Sighs ] It was like we were given a chance for a do-over in our relationship. You know? We’re not repeating the same mistakes. You know, you helped me get out of jail, and now I’m helping you, you know, get some purpose back in life. Mm-hmm. We’re helping each other get back on track. Yes. We care about each other. Yes. But, you know, there may be a — a path forward for you, you know, where you can hang onto all your good franco memories and keep them with you. At the same time… …keep the trauma of his death in the past. If only it were that simple. I haven’t told you everything about what’s going on with me… and franco.

Well, what happens now that the horrible nightmare is over and ended? What usually follows an ending is a new beginning. I should go. Wait, wait, wait. [ Chuckling ] Yeah, I do. Listen… whatever happens next, sonny, I hope you consider cutting down on your drinking or not drinking at all. You deserve to have a clear mind when you figure out what you want to do next. I’ll think about it ’cause I… I believe I owe you that much. Oh, no, sonny. You don’t owe me anything. You owe it to yourself. So there’s been more incidents besides the ring and the card? Why — why didn’t you say anything? Because I felt like I was imagining things. But if it’s real… tell me about them. It was valentine’s day. I had decided to donate the dress I wore when I married franco. I wasn’t gonna wear it again, and it’d just been hanging in my closet in a garment bag. When the bag was opened, my dress was torn to shreds. I know all of this seems so random on a case-by-case basis, but when you combine the ring, the dress, this card… it forms a pattern, and we — we shouldn’t dismiss that. Right. I just feel like someone is doing these things deliberately. You’re sure the boys aren’t upset about you and me? They’re not acting out?

[ Scoffs lightly ] Cameron is so happy with josslyn and pcu, his heart is not in a destructive place. Right. And jake and aiden? I asked them. I asked both of them, and they both insist they had nothing to do with the ring. Okay, maybe… trust me, I know when my boys are lying, and I don’t think they are. I mean, I-I guess I can ask them again.

[ Cellphone beeps ] Listen. I, um… I have one patient I need to check, um, before I head out. I’ll, um… see you back at the house? Sure. It’s gonna be okay. So, peter’s death — did that give you any closure? Closure and relief. Not only for myself, but the entire city, including you. Mm-hmm. Remember, peter was the one who gaslit you into thinking that franco was a threat to me. Mm. Yeah, I appreciate the sentiment, but I was drunk when I assaulted dante, so I really can’t blame peter for that. And besides, you know, prison, unfortunately, was a wake-up call that I needed to be sober. Right. And then you reunited with shawn. How are things going between the two of you? We are just good friends. He’s also my boss, so anything beyond that would be inappropriate anyway. Okay. I can accept that. Even though you are the happiest that I’ve seen you since neil died. Hm! And the way he died, it was so sudden and unexpected. And you just — you’ve pulled yourself together, and you keep moving forward. Neil would want you happy. As a matter of fact, I think that shawn was probably the most stable relationship you’ve been a part of since I’ve known you. That’s a pretty low bar I’ve set.

[ Chuckles ] True. But come on, mom, can’t shawn be your confidant, and not harmony with all of her baggage? I mean, I know you said that you were giving her her second chance. But has she really changed? I’m sorry. Seat’s taken. Yeah. By me. Look, I’ve seen you handle some shady business in here and in the alley. Word on the street is you’re pretty good at forging documents? Maybe. What’s it to you? How good are you at forging a birth certificate?

Okay. I freely admit that harmony has gone above and beyond to redeem herself. I mean, she did help us… track down drew. But, mom, there is so much history between her and our family. I know. I know. You have conspired to keep my child away from me, using the very same tactics that you have used to keep nina from her grandson. My grandson. Now… you seek my assistance to ensure that you are not the one shut out by none other than sonny and his new lady? Nina is always one traffic jam away from a meltdown in a straitjacket. She remembered peter talking about a place he loved, a place he was sent in his summers away from boarding school. So she got on a plane to europe to check it out. Meanwhile, maxie ran away from peter, and she made it to the road, and she flagged down a car. I was obviously surprised to find the driver was my mom. Then we got back in the car, and we headed to the autobahn. And then suddenly, I saw headlights in the rearview mirror, and they were getting closer and closer. Peter. Peter. He ran my car off the road. I thought my mom was hurt, and I wanted to lead peter away from her, so I went to the embankment. Well, I wasn’t really hurt. I just had the wind knocked out of me from the airbag. But once I caught my breath, I grabbed a tire iron from the trunk, and I went down the embankment, and I heard gunfire, and there was peter ready to shoot my daughter. And I did not hesitate for one second. I swung that tire iron as hard as I could. I don’t think I’ve ever hit anything as hard in my entire life. And peter went down the embankment, and, well, you know the rest. Hmm. Everything all right here? Anna, uh, the ambulance hasn’t gotten here. What’s going on with peter? Peter is dead. Are you sure? I watched him take his last breath.

[ Crying ]

Is there news? Felicia found maxie. They’re all safe. That’s great. That’s — that’s good news. Yeah. Sounds like peter put maxie through quite the ordeal, but the most important thing is she’s not hurt, so… and what about peters? Is — is he in custody? Uh, actually, after you left, we just got word. Peter august is dead.

[ Sighs ] Are you sure? Because we’ve thought this before. Anna confirmed it to mac. My god. It’s finally over. This calls for a celebration. Britta, do you have any libations in your office? Uh, the bottom left in the credenza. Okay.

What do you want? Come, now. You must have heard of, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”? We both despise peter. Do you want to join my celebration? [ Chuckles sadly ] And honestly, what I am feeling most is relief. Relief in knowing my father’s demented bloodline dies with peter. So, no kids for you, then, huh? Do you regret his death now? I think maybe what I regret is that I couldn’t figure out a way to… …stop him sooner. [ Muffled ] You know… it’s nice seeing you this happy. Happy? Oh, my gosh. I’m ecstatic. Chase, peter is finally gone. Maxie can finally tell the whole world that bailey is… her daughter. It’s going to be hard for you to let bailey go. Yeah, when I had to give her to felicia, I was a wreck. I remember. Look, it’s going to be hard not to see that beautiful, little face every day, but that was the whole point, to keep bailey safe. And now maxie can raise her daughter without a concern that peter can come and take her away. How can I be anything but happy about that? You know, part of the reason this whole scheme worked is because people kept thinking the worst about you — that you’d lie about your baby’s paternity just to get your stock back. I cannot wait for people to know the truth and to see what a noble gesture it really was. What is that look for? You’re really incredible. You know, you had a lot to do with this scheme, too. okay, so, the wsb team will be here any minute. And, um, dante’s already at the airport, so we can meet him there. That’s it? There isn’t going to be any kind of police investigation? Well, the bureau has agreed to be a liaison with the swiss authorities, so we can give our statements on the plane. We’re going home? It’s really over? Yeah. I know in the past, peter survived and haunted us again, but… he didn’t make it this time. Okay? So, come on. Cars are here ready to take us to the airport. You know, when brook lynn and I made this plan to hide louise in plain sight, I could only imagine this moment. I can’t believe that it’s really happening. We’re finally safe. I appreciate that, but like I told you, sonny and I went through a divorce before. It was brutal. I do not want to repeat that experience. I want this divorce over as painlessly as possible. It’s your call. I just hate to see you walk away from what could be a massive win. You have the leverage to get the lion’s share of the assets and primary custody, to boot. That won’t be necessary.

See, you say all the right things, but your follow-through is always lacking. So how is this time any different? Joss… anyone can apologize, but it only counts when you mean it. You’re gonna have to track down august yourself. I’m gonna have to deal with peter personally. Faison couldn’t be trusted, and neither, it seems, can his son.

[ Bottle clatters ] I got a text from felicia. She’s in switzerland. She got a commercial flight to geneva at the same time that dante, anna, and drew left. Oh. So I guess she’s invited herself along on the search for her daughter. You know, I’m sure it’s against wsb protocol, but I can’t say I blame her. Yeah, well, I have known certain people who’ve bent the protocol rules on occasion, when it suits them.

[ Laughing ] Yeah? Right? Yes, yes. If someone I love is in jeopardy, absolutely. Right. Well, I gotta sympathize with her. I mean, I know the compulsion to be hands on and step up for your child. No one was asking her to sit on her hands and allow a bunch of faceless bureaucrats run the investigation. She knows anna is the best in the business at stuff like this, plus she’s also got drew and dante as backup. So you think that felicia should have stayed out of it entirely? I’m saying there’s enough danger out there for everyone. Look, the fact that she took off like she did — my brother is now worried sick when he should be concentrating on recovery.

[ Gunshots ] Peter! Send maxie out. I know you don’t want her harmed.

[ Gunshot ] It’s no good! Cover me! On two. One…

In order to take the house, I’m gonna need you to lay down fire so that dante and i can approach the building from opposite sides. I can’t risk hitting maxie. I get that. I get that. Just avoid the windows. Keep your fire low as much as possible towards the ground. The goal is just to keep peter inside. Okay, copy. Meet you at the front door. Let’s do it.

[ Gunshots ] Mom, how are you here? How did you find me? Anna received a call from a woman at a rest stop who found your earring and the message that you left on the mirror. I knew that would work. Anna, drew, and dante all flew out here to find you, look for you, and they’re coordinating with the wsb. I wanted to come, but anna thought it would be too dangerous for me, so I flew separately. How did you find me? I remembered what peter said when I told him that I wasn’t gonna be able to come to the wedding. He said his favorite place on earth was a farm in switzerland near a tiny village. Took me forever to remember the name of it, and then it finally came to me — versteckte weise.

[ Chuckles ] Mom, you’re amazing. Did you tell anna? No, no, I didn’t want to distract her. I figured that if I did find peter here, I would call it in. But I-I didn’t want to really take the time. But by the time I landed in geneva, I rented this car, but this road was just so windy and dark. I — maxie, I got lost. Well, thank goodness you did. I had just run away from peter and found the road. I-I flagged down the first pair of lights that I saw. I’m glad it was you. I think if we make it to the autobahn, we’ll be safe.

[ Breathing heavily ] This is ridiculous. I’m on your side. Oh, save it. You’re either working for peter and you stayed behind to delay us, or — or someone else sent you after peter. The way I see it, I have two options. I can ignore the implied threat, you know, wolves after dark, and keep pretending we’re on this romantic refuge together. Or I can tell you to your face, I plan to escape the first chance I get.

[ Sighs ] Hey! Hey, you guys. What a pleasant surprise. Hi, honey. Leo suggested that we should pick you up so you can join us for a little swim at the lake this evening. A swim? You guys really think it’s warm enough for that? Clearly, you haven’t been outside. Well — we should take advantage of the incredibly warm weather. Uh, alright. I completely hear you. I understand. I know that they don’t trust each other, but peter has got some leverage over him. That’s why victor kept me on his compound for over two years. Yeah, that is true. And — and victor was instrumental in — in peter’s escape, but, you know, I’m with dante. I do not think peter would include victor in his hideaway. I’ve got something. Peter: Maxie, I’m disappointed. I would have thought you would have kept up the charade for at least 48 hours, maybe even a week or two. This effort was, well, pathetic. You’re right. I’m ashamed of myself. I planned to play that fantasy version of myself you seem to be so fixated on — you know, the one that sees the best in you. But I-I just couldn’t do it anymore. Nope, I don’t want to, because I got what I wanted. My children are safe on the other side of the atlantic, away from you. So no more games. From now on, all you’re going to get from me is the truth. He had his grandmother, the mayor, deliver his gift. Wow. Well, all that’s missing is an inscription. Stop. What was the inscription? See, this is why I didn’t want to tell you anything. I didn’t want you getting it twisted. Am I, though? Trina, let’s see. So, first, he defends his snake of a girlfriend for basically setting you up, and then he slips you some “just because” gift on the side. So, what are you two again? We’re basically — trina, trina. Just take a minute, think about it, and then open your eyes, because you are nobody’s side piece. Why do truly disgusting people like peter august keep getting away while here I sit? After everything that he’s done, I was hoping that you would tell me that he was dead, not escaped yet again. All indications are that his time is running out. Maybe uncle victor can help find him. He found charlotte after she was abducted. There are limits to what even victor can do. Not that I’ve seen. Look. I’m glad that you are being protected. But? You don’t know victor like I do. Our flight gave me lots of time to think, think about our whole tortured history. You manipulated her so she would convince nathan to go public about the fact that he was faison’s son, which in turn lured faison to port charles — exactly what you wanted. I kept jason alive in that clinic all those years because I knew he was the one person who could rid me of my father, the one person who wouldn’t fall for the legendary cesar faison mind tricks, someone who would simply point the gun and pull the trigger, and that’s exactly what he did. Not before faison killed nathan. Tell me, peter, did you plan for nathan to die? Did you set that whole thing up to get rid of the brother you knew in your heart was a better man than you would ever be?

I went back tothe original title search of properties in the region of the salt mines. And then I cross-referenced properties that have been acquired in the last 15 years. There were 39. Delving deeper, one stands out. Why? Why do you say that? It changed hands 10 years ago. A cash purchase by an octavian stone. That’s him. H-how do you know? No, no, because caesar augustus, right, the roman emperor, his original name — he was originally known as octavian. And — and the latin word for stone is petra. Petra, peter; augustus, august. Peter august. Yes. Okay, that’s it. That’s — pull up the coordinates, ’cause that’s our destination. Agent devane. Hmm. There’s something significant you wanted to tell me. Yeah, well, I’m pretty sure you already know, but I never actually said it. That night at the cabin, cam and I had sex.

[ Chuckles ] I figured. When I woke up after spencer and esme left, things between you two just seemed different. So, how is it now that you’ve taken things to the next level? That’s major. It is, but… it also just feels so regular. You know, cam and I, we were so close before, so getting closer, it just felt natural. And he was so sweet and so romantic, and there was no pressure. And he made me feel safe and loved, like I was the only person on the planet. Well, I’m proud of cam for making you feel so special. Well, I want that for you, too. You deserve to be someone’s one and only. And no matter how things shake out, I don’t think spencer is going to be the one to ever give that to you. Vict or show up for his familywhen it suits him? Yes. I can personally attest to that. But I can also attest to the fact that the methods he uses are questionable at best. But they work. Doesn’t make them right. I’m impressed by these newfound scruples of yours. You pulled strings to get alexis a pardon, but you won’t even lift a finger to keep your own son safe from imprisonment. You’re still putting her ahead of your own child. Olivia, I feel terrible. If — if I’d been more involved, if I’d visited more, you know, maybe I would have known about his diagnosis.

Right, but I — the fact is, I have been so involved in the cassadine family drama that I’ve — that I’ve neglected my own. I barely know my nephew. Well, look, maybe that’s for the best. Sometimes the closer we are to something, you know. Yeah. Well, I sure appreciate you letting me off the hook about spending time with him or not spending time with him, especially considering our, you know, past. Oh. I haven’t forgotten. But this isn’t about us. It’s about leo and what’s best for him. And he is my focus. So how are you — how are you all managing? Well, we’re very lucky. We got a great team of doctors at gh. He’s got an after-school program that’s teaching coping skills and calming techniques and different time management. I mean, I personally have found negotiation techniques and patience that I never imagined that I had. And, um, you know, they say it’s just important to keep it consistent each day and make sure that he has avenues to really express himself. Hmm. Yeah. Well, however you got here, you got here. Yeah. And I’m glad for him that he has such a supportive family. You’re part of that family. Thank you. You know, I think that julian would want me to spend more time with him, especially since he doesn’t have his father. Well, obviously, leo is lucky to have all the love in his life that he can have, but as far as a father is concerned, we’ve got that covered. Um, ned is in the process of adopting leo. Nathan was never my target, maxie. And I’m quite the planner, but… I never could have orchestrated the events that led to my father killing nathan. So even your plans have limits? That’s why your brother wasn’t a target? You’ll get no proclamation of brotherly love from me. I mean, you’re asking for the truth, right? Alright, well, here it is. It couldn’t have worked out better for me if i had planned it. You never would have looked in my direction if nathan had lived. You never would have given me a chance. You’re right. In my grief and desperate need to fill the void that losing nathan left in my life, I believed your lies because I wanted to. I convinced myself after losing the man that I loved that his brother was the next best thing. I never asked the questions that needed to be asked. I never looked past your facade to see the horror underneath. You played me.

[ Scoffs ] But let’s be real. I let you. So that’s on me. Brava. Brava! Now that you’ve had your little reckoning and your moment of self-reflection, maxie, what do you intend to do about it? Well, I dug this hole, so I guess I got to climb out of it… or die trying.

Kevin and i care about you, esme. That’s kind of you to say, but I know you only tolerate me because of spence. And his friends won’t even do that. Esme, there must be someone in your life who you’re really close to. There is one. But, uh, she’s not in the picture anymore. My nanny. She helped raise me after my adoptive parents died. Spencer told me about that. I’m sorry that you had such an unhappy childhood. Where is your nanny now? Kids grow up, and nannies move on. It’s not like we had a falling out. Like you had a falling out with spencer’s friends? Wow, is it that obvious?

[ Sighs ] You know something? I’ve — I’ve learned something in my life. I can either burn bridges, or I can mend fences. And trust me, the second one is so much more rewarding. Honey, maybe right now, instead of working so hard to analyze the inmates, perhaps what you should do is focus on getting yourself a support system, one that doesn’t consist solely of spencer. In other words, get a life?

[ Sighs ] Something like that. I can see why you’re spence’s favorite person. I adore him. And anyone who matters to him matters to me. Come on, now. What do you say? You ready to eat? And it’s so frustrating that you refuse to accept that, and instead, you continue to spend your energy on a vendetta against my wife. And where has it gotten you? Here. I’ve told you that I was friendly with ava once upon a time. It was her betrayal that made me begin to despise her. I wa s trying tdmy loyalty to you and our relationship above all others.
