Recap written by Suzanne

At the hospital, Finn and Li keep discussing his idea that Luna is behind Steffy’s disappearance. She doesn’t know what to think, but he’s determined to find the truth.

RJ visits Bill at home to see if he knows what’s going on with Luna, since he hasn’t seen her much recently. Bill tactfully explains that Luna is having trouble with everything that’s happening in her life.

Later, Finn visits RJ at work to discuss his idea about Luna and Steffy. RJ is shocked, to say the least. He confirms to Finn that Luna was not with him when Tom was killed (which she claimed she was).

Steffy is weak from lack of food and water, but she won’t take anything from Luna, in case it’s drugged. She begs Luna to let her out and tries to convince her to think of all the people whose lives she’s affecting, including her mom, Finn and Steffy’s kids. She promises to tell the police that Luna was just troubled, but Luna knows she’s lying and leaves Steffy alone to cry some more.

Luna finds Finn waiting for her at Forrester. She looks uncomfortable and shocked at his being there.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

And it took some persuasion, but Roman says that we’re free to use the pub for filming “Body and Soul” whenever we want.

Right, right.

And also, he’s going to talk to Kayla about using University Hospital as a location as well, which I think is great.

Mm-hmm.

Abe? Abe, you still with me? See, now, you’re getting that glazed over look that Roman gets whenever I talk about “Vanderpump Rules.”

[chuckles] Sorry. Sorry. You know, I was just thinking, I had left messages for Johnny and Chanel, and I was hoping they’d get back to me.

OK, so is this what Paulina was talking about, that you’re causing some problems for the show?

More likely problems for their real lives. And I forgot to– I forgot to give Chanel an update on her potential leading man.

[tense music]

So you’re auditioning for Arrow?

Yep. Was up all night rehearsing my lines.

Since when are you an actor?

Honestly, it never really crossed my mind until Abe suggested I audition.

So this was Abe’s idea?

He told me that he told you, but judging from your reaction, he didn’t.

No, no, he most definitely did not.

[phone ringing]

OK. Get back into character, Abigail. Chad, good morning.

Hey, good morning. I just wanted to call and see if you survive the night over there alone.

You’re very sweet, but, yes, I’m fine.

Yeah?

Yes. And besides, I’m not exactly alone. I am surrounded pretty much everywhere by DiMeras.

Yeah, that was what I was worried about. My family is always at war. I don’t want you to get caught in the middle.

Well, thank you. And you can relax. I had a wonderful, peaceful evening last night.

I’ve missed this so much.

Me too.

[soft music]

I’m just glad I came to my senses in time. I almost did something very, very stupid.

Couldn’t have been nearly as stupid as what I did with Ava. Gabi, I hope you realize that I never felt anything for that tacky mafia princess, and that you are the only woman that I love. And what we have is way too special to throw away.

I couldn’t agree more.

[dramatic music]

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[tense music]

Morning.

Good morning.

It’s funny. Before I opened my eyes, I thought what happened between us last night was just a dream, but I guess not.

No, it definitely happened.

Right. So, what now?

You have plans for today?

Well, I was hoping to do a little more catching up with Gabi over breakfast. But when I knocked on her door this morning, she didn’t answer.

She still dividing up the house with duct tape?

Yeah, I think she pretty much covered everything yesterday.

Well, if Gabi’s busy, maybe I could come over and you and I could have breakfast together.

Yeah. You know, I’m not that hungry. I think I’m just going to grab a yogurt.

Sure. Yeah.

And you know what? You need to focus on the kids anyway.

Yeah, no, yeah, you’re right. We actually have some back to school shopping to finish up. I’ll check in with you later, then.

Yes. Thank you. Sounds good. Bye.

Abigail. How are you doing?

I’m all right.

I heard Gabi gave you an earful yesterday.

Yeah, about how you took advantage of me while I was mentally unwell.

Yeah, that. Look, the reason she may have gone on and on about me, badmouthing me, as it were, is she and I are in a, well, a bit of a rough patch right now.

Oh. So it’s her fault that you’re a creep?

So you’re saying that Johnny and Chanel have something against Alex?

Well, he did play a part in Chanel and Allie’s breakup.

Well, yes, that’s true. But that was a long time ago, and, obviously, she got over that because she’s happily married to Johnny.

That is true, but still seems to be a sore spot between her and Alex.

OK, so she still has some resentment against him.

Yeah, to put it mildly, which is exactly why I wanted to cast the two of them together.

So you’re going to use her real life animus for him as part of her character?

Exactly. Paulina points out that our director could have a problem with them playing opposite each other.

Oh, so she thinks that Johnny is going to be jealous.

Alex is a very attractive guy.

Yeah, he is. But I don’t see why it would be any worse, I mean, if Johnny was directing Chanel with, say, some other hot guy–

I think it would be. You know, I believe that any other hot young actor wouldn’t be someone that Chanel had a threesome with.

[dramatic music]

Did you know about this?

What? No, of course not. You don’t think I would have told you? I mean, Abe told me that he found the perfect guy to play Arrow, but he never got around to telling me who that was.

Look, is this going to be a problem?

Hell yeah, it is. Because if you get this role, then you and I are going to be playing love interests. And I don’t know if it slipped your little mind, but you and I aren’t exactly getting along right now.

OK, well, Abe was the one who said that it would only, you know, add some spice to our chemistry.

Wonder what would have made him think that.

I think it was that he saw the bickering between Chanel and I in the store yesterday.

Oh, my God.

He said we had sparks.

Sparks?

Those were his words, not mine.

OK, well, then, maybe Abe needs to get into a different business, because those were not romantic sparks. Those were “I hate your guts” sparks. So us working together, that is not going to fly.

[clears throat]

Now, don’t you think you’re being a bit overdramatic?

No, if anything, I’m being a bit under-dramatic.

Really, Chanel? You hate my guts?

You have to ask?

I mean, I thought we got along fine until yesterday, anyway.

Yeah, that’s because we hardly ever saw each other. But then, I realized how unremorseful you are about having slept with my girlfriend.

I’m not unremorseful, Chanel. I felt bad that it hurt you. And I told you that then. And I said it many times after that. And I don’t understand why you continue to hold this grudge against me, especially since you married Allie’s brother, for God’s sake. Is that, like, not enough payback?

Payback? My marrying Johnny had nothing to do with Allie. How petty do you think I am?

Do you really want me to answer that?

Oh, my God. Johnny, can you believe that Abe actually thought that me and this jerk would work as a couple?

You know, actually, I think Abe’s instincts might have been spot on.

[tense music]

So Allie and Chanel had a three-way with Alex?

Apparently so.

Wow. You know, I never thought I’d be having a conversation with Abe Carver about a threesome.

[chuckles] Well, it is a new world out there, Kate.

Don’t I know it. Although, in my opinion, I think everyone should do some sexual adventuring, you know, as long as all the parties are willing participants.

Well, for Johnny, I think it might be a bit awkward.

[laughs] I think that’s putting it mildly. To know he has to direct Chanel and Alex in love scenes knowing they have a sexual past could be pretty, pretty uncomfortable.

I hope this isn’t a bad time. I should have called first.

It’s fine. What’s up?

Well, I’m actually glad I caught you, because I came to talk to Doug and Julie to ask them if they thought it would be OK if I went to go visit Abigail. But now I can ask you.

Of course, it would be. I think that’s a great idea. Why wouldn’t it be?

Well, I just thought with all the pressure she must be feeling. I mean, I can’t even imagine what it would be like being around all these people who are so thrilled that you’re back, but you don’t remember them. I mean, that’s got to be stressful, to put it mildly.

Well, she’s– she’s stoic, our Abby.

Yeah.

You know, she doesn’t like to admit how difficult it is. But I think it would be really good to see some familiar faces, you know, as far as getting her memory back. And besides, you know, who else would handle it with sensitivity and empathy but you? You always put people at ease.

Well, not always, but thanks. Here I am talking about how stressful it must be for Abigail. But for you, my God, to suddenly have your wife back after all this time, the love of your life?

Yeah. No, I– I mean, there’s no words, you know? I got to pinch myself because it all just feels like such a miracle.

I’m sure.

You know, our relationship– ours– I know ended because, obviously, I still felt connected to Abby. So I’m sure that this whole thing must be very complicated for you too.

Chad, please don’t worry about me. And you know, now that Abby’s back, now that we know that she was alive that whole time, well, I understand even more than I did before why you couldn’t commit to me, to us. Some part of you sensed that she wasn’t really gone.

At that time, I just– I couldn’t let her go. You know, I felt like I was still married to her. Now I know why. I never thanked you enough for everything you did for me and the kids, especially my kids– how loving you were with them and helping them through such a tough time.

Well, I love those kids. And I still treasure the memories of taking care of them– the goodnight hugs, especially. I miss them. So did you spend the night here last night?

Yeah, I did.

Well, I heard that you were at the DiMeras with Abigail.

I was. She asked me to move out.

[soft music]

OK, you’re right, I was a total creep. And I never should have gotten involved with your alter.

Gabby with a Y.

Yeah. Not that this is an excuse, OK, but I didn’t know much at all about dissociative identity disorder when we were involved. And, yes, I did some reading, but I don’t know, maybe I didn’t want to know or want to believe the truth. But just because she gave her consent to being with me doesn’t mean that you did.

To be honest, it all sounds very complicated.

It is. It is. But again, like I said, I’m not making excuses here. I thought I was in love with her, and I made some very stupid, selfish choices, choices that I will regret for the rest of my life. And neither you, nor Chad, nor your kids deserved any of it. And I’m really sorry.

I get the sense this isn’t the first time you’re asking for forgiveness for this.

No, no, it’s not. And eventually, she– you forgave me. Not that you remember.

I don’t. But I don’t remember anything that happened between us. And you seem very genuinely contrite. So I forgive you, again.

Thank you. Now, if only the real Gabi could do the same thing.

Look, you don’t have to offer me breakfast in bed or anything like that.

I wasn’t planning on it.

Right. Well, I’m just pointing out that last night had nothing to do with romance. It had nothing to do with feelings.

Unless you count hating each other as feelings. It still hasn’t slipped my mind that you destroyed my marriage to Nicole.

Nor has it slipped mine that you sent me to prison for a crime I didn’t commit. The only reason I let you put your grubby paws all over me was to get back at Stefan for sleeping with Ava.

For the record, you were the one who seduced me last night.

What?

Oh, please, you practically begged me to put my grubby paws all over you.

Please. Yours are the last paws I’d ever want on my body.

And yet, here we are.

Here I am, because I knew that sleeping with you would be the way to hurt Stefan the most.

Well, on that, we agree. Once my brother finds out about our night of passion, he’s going to be absolutely destroyed.

[dramatic music]

Why did Abigail want you to move out? Were you not getting along?

No, it’s not that. It’s just that we’re strangers. You know, so it’s a little awkward.

Understandably.

Also, the kids are asking me why I’m not staying here, and I’m not ready to tell them the truth. Abby doesn’t even remember them.

Well, that would be very difficult for them.

And definitely, because–

Because what?

[tense music]

She just seems like such a different person.

You mean the way she looks?

No, not just the way she looks. I mean, her personality, the way she talks, her expressions. And if it weren’t for the DNA test, I don’t know if I would actually believe that it was even her.

To be honest, I get why Gabi won’t forgive you. You cheated on her while she was in prison?

Yeah, I know how bad that sounds.

But let me guess, you regret that one too, don’t you?

Yeah, I do. And I know it sounds weak and stupid, but it was a one-time drunken mistake. No feelings involved, nothing. But Gabi doesn’t see it that way. She sees it as the ultimate– as the ultimate betrayal. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen her this angry. And we’ve had our fair share of fights. It’s kind of our thing.

Oh, you’re one of those couples.

Yeah, I guess. I mean, we are passionate. We blow up at each other and then we make up.

Well, maybe you’ll make up this time, too.

Yeah, I don’t know. This is a lot worse. I mean, she’s told me that she wants a divorce.

[soft music]

[sighs] Well, maybe that will change once she has a chance to cool down. I wouldn’t give up hope just yet.

You know, as happy as I am to stick it to my sanctimonious brother, I have to admit, I’m feeling rather unsatisfied.

Excuse me?

Don’t get your knickers in a bunch, not that you’re wearing any, anyway.

[scoffs] You seem pretty satisfied to me.

Oh, as far as hatesex goes, last night was quite enjoyable– for the both of us, I’d venture to say.

Go on.

But it certainly didn’t purge Nicole from my heart. The thought of her and Eric living happily ever after in Paris still feels like a kick in the guts.

So as I said, why not take out that pain on Stefan, since if he hadn’t told me the truth about Jude, I wouldn’t have been able to expose your lies?

Oh, so you’re not to blame, is that it? Just passing the buck.

Blame me all you want, but I think you’ll get much more excitement and satisfaction exacting revenge on Stefan than me.

Perhaps you’re right. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s go tell big brother the news.

No, wait.

[dramatic music]

You know, I think we’re getting ahead of ourselves. We haven’t even seen them audition yet. Who knows? Maybe we would hire one of them. Maybe we wouldn’t hire either of them.

Well, you’re right. Johnny was going to put their auditions on tape this morning. So I thought if I got there first, I could– I could warn them about each other.

Well, I mean, it’s not too late to do that. I’ll go with you. Maybe I can smooth things over, who knows? And if they haven’t backed out, we’ll have a chance to see them audition live.

Yeah, that’s right. That’s right. And then maybe you’ll see what I see, how great they can be together– as long as they don’t kill each other first.

Oh, Lord.

You really think that Alex and I make a good couple?

In real life? Hell, no. But on-screen, I don’t know, I was watching you guys banter back and forth, and I got to say, I kind of agree with Abe. There’s something intriguing about the dynamic between you two.

Yeah, because who isn’t intrigued watching a trainwreck?

Yeah, you know what? I agree with Chanel on this one. I thought maybe I could make it work, but I really don’t feel like fighting all the time.

OK, guys, just hear me out, all right? Some of the best, I’m talking best, on-screen couples in the history of cinema were played by actors who couldn’t stand each other. But the fact that you guys push each other’s buttons, sometimes that can be what makes it come alive for the cameras.

So are you saying that you want this to happen?

As long as you both are at least reasonably comfortable with it, yes.

Uh-huh. And you’re really OK with me playing Alex’s love interest?

Am I thrilled about the fact that you guys have, uh, history? No, not particularly. But I’m a professional, and I truly believe that the two of you can make magic together on-screen. So we can take that animosity that you both have and put it to good use. I want you to channel the passion into your auditions.

So what do you think? Should we give this a try?

Well, well, you all are still here. And everyone seems to be in one piece.

Abe, did you have something to tell me?

Chanel, I should have broken the news to you about Alex.

Mm-hmm. And if I had known about the two of you and your charged history–

Chanel, for what it’s worth, Abe left both of you messages.

Now, we obviously didn’t get it in time.

Well, I am sorry about that, but I do believe that the two of you will be perfect as Arrow and Faith.

Well, we are about to find out because we’re all set up for the audition.

OK, that’s great.

OK, you two– you ready?

Sure.

OK.

Let’s do this.

I don’t know why I’m complaining, you know? I should be– I should be grateful as hell that I got my wife back not be so, I don’t know– I just got to– I need to respect her space.

Right. But it’s only natural for you to be impatient and to want to be close to her right now, especially after missing her so much for so long.

Yeah, but I still got to keep my impatience under control. You know, I can’t be so needy. I got to be cool, right?

Chad, how can you be cool when the love of your life, who you thought that you’d lost forever, suddenly comes back? You’d have to have a heart of stone to be cool about this, Chad.

OK, so then don’t beat myself up for being so needy and uncool?

Don’t you dare.

OK.

Now, Abigail is so lucky to have you and all of your neediness and uncoolness. She’s going to realize that very soon.

[soft music]

Why would you tell me not to lose hope? Gabi say something to you?

Oh, she said she was angry, but I think she’s mostly just hurt. She’s focusing on the anger so she doesn’t have to deal with the fact that she still loves you. I mean, why would she be doing all this ridiculousness, putting tape everywhere, all over the house? Why would she still be here if all she felt towards you is apathy? Why wouldn’t she just move out?

Because her lawyer told her to stay so she wouldn’t lose claim to my possessions.

Oh, OK. Or maybe that’s just a cover for her true feelings.

Maybe.

I’m not trying to give you false hope, but you said yourself you and Gabi always work it out in the end. Why would this time be any different?

[tense music]

What’s wrong?

I just don’t know if now is the right time to tell Stefan.

I thought the whole point of us sleeping with each other was to rub it in Stefan’s face– unless it was just an excuse to get me into bed.

[scoffs] No seas mamón.

What does that mean?

Look it up.

I’m just going to assume that was a compliment. I don’t understand what’s going on here. This was your idea. I thought you hated Stefan’s guts and you wanted to punish him for cheating on you.

I still do.

Then why are you suddenly dragging your feet?

I’m not. I just want to make sure that this bombshell has maximum impact.

Hmm. You know what I think?

I don’t give a damn what you think.

That’s OK. I’m going to tell you anyway. I think that you suddenly changing your mind about punishing Stefan, or at least having second thoughts, that’s because, deep down, you’re still in love with him.

Damn it, Faith, do you have any idea what I went through to get back to you? All those months I spent recuperating on Dr. Stenbeck’s tropical island, surviving a bout with rainforest fever, fighting off an entire militia group, only to come back to Pineview and find out that the love of my life was about to marry my father?

Arrow, you have to believe me– I thought you were dead when I agreed to be Drex’s wife. I mean, you died in my arms. What else was I supposed to think? And I wept for you in the Pineview Hospital Chapel as they took out your brain and put it into Charlemagne’s head to save her from terminal frontal lobe sarcoidosis. You died. And on top of that, your brain was gone. Don’t you see? And I grieved for you until your ghost returned to me at your gravesite on our third wedding anniversary and told me it was time to move on.

Faith, that was not my ghost. That was an AI-enhanced hologram generated by Dr. Stenbeck in my father’s behest. Drex wanted complete control over you, not to mention complete control over my entire family’s empire.

Arrow, I don’t know what to believe anymore.

I will tell you what to believe, Faith. You believe in me. You believe in love– in our love– that was always tried, and true, and stood the test of time. It was our North Star and our compass guiding us through space and time. Please, if you can’t believe anything else at all, believe in love.

We don’t really have to do the kiss, right?

Well, Arrow and Faith have a love-hate relationship. You just showed us the hate in the first part of the scene. Now, you have to show us the love.

You know, Kate is right.

We have to know that you can do this, that you can sell this love story to the audience.

Really?

Yeah, I mean, it’s part of the job, so–

Right. Fine. I will try.

I’ll try too.

OK, Alex, let’s take it from your last line.

Got it. Faith, If you can’t believe in anything else, believe in love.

[soft music]

OK, cut, yeah, stop. That was great. I think we got it.

So what did you think?

Well, as far as I’m concerned, I think we have a super couple here.

Well, I would say “congratulations.” You’re both hired.

Yes. All right. Thank you, sir.

Was I really good?

Yes, you were great. A star is born.

You have some good instincts, my friend. You really do. I think Chanel and Alex are going to have a lot of fans.

Yeah, well, I’m not sure that Chanel’s husband will be one of them.

[dramatic music]

So you’re sure that I should go visit Abigail, that I wouldn’t be adding more pressure if I went to go see her?

No. No, she said she wants to see the people who are important to her– you’re family and you’re best friends. You know, she always looked forward to hanging out with you.

And me with her. We had a lot of fun memories.

Well, then, yeah, go share those memories with her– you know, the memories of those times, you know, the good memories– not, like, the one she had, the– not like the other one she had.

Why, did she remember something?

Yeah, she– we were in her bedroom, and then she suddenly remembered Clyde coming in and attacking her.

Oh, my God. That’s awful.

Yeah, that was the first thing she remembered about her life. But I don’t know, maybe I should just be hopeful, you know, that– hopefully it’s just the beginning, you know, and she’ll start to remember more stuff.

Yeah. Yeah. Let’s hope so. I’m happy to help however I can.

Thank you.

I’m here for you, Chad– and for Abigail.

[soft music]

Hey, thank you for the pep talk.

Just giving you my opinion.

Well, you gave me hope.

OK, so what’s the plan, mister?

I don’t know. I guess I can start by going back upstairs and begging for her forgiveness again, reminding her how great we are together and how strong our love is.

Yes. I like it– although I’m not sure if she’s around. I knocked on her door earlier, and she wasn’t there.

Huh.

[tense music] Wonder where she could be.

You don’t know what you’re talking about.

So you don’t have feelings for Stefan anymore?

No. Him sleeping with Ava while I was rotting away in prison killed off any love I have for that man.

OK, let’s blow the whole thing up. Let’s break his heart just like he broke yours.

No, wait, I just– I just need a moment to think, all right?

Wow. And here I thought you learned a thing or two about being ruthless from Samantha and Kate. I mean, aren’t you the same person who sought revenge on Lani Price by rigging Julie Williams’ heart to explode? And didn’t you gaslight poor Abigail into thinking that she was crazy again, even going as far as locking her up in Bayview?

What does that have to do with anything?

I’m just curious as to why you’re suddenly going soft. I mean, I have to imagine that Stefan hurt you more than any of those women. You loved him. You trusted him. And then at your lowest, he was tangled in the sheets with Ava. And I would have to think that you would want to punish him for eternity and then some.

[sighs] Look, I get it. If I had the chance to win back Nicole, I don’t think I would pass up that chance. If you’ve changed your mind, I’m fine with that. No one ever has to know about… our secret dalliance.

[dramatic music]

It’s funny. I didn’t realize how much I actually wanted this job until I got in front of that camera. It’s exhilarating.

You, my man, are a natural at this.

Come on, man. Thank you. Thank you for believing in me. I hope I make you proud.

I have no doubt about it. You and Chanel are just going to be huge, huge hits.

Yeah. That’s if she and I can put our differences behind us and actually work together. That’s a huge “if.”

I cannot believe this is really happening. I am going to be on TV.

I know. I knew you would kill it.

Thanks to my amazing director. Are you sure you’re going to be OK working with Alex?

Like you said, it’s part of the job. And the best part is that I get to work with my brilliant husband. It’s going to be so much fun working together.

I couldn’t agree more.

[soft music]

Hey, I’m so glad that I ran into you.

Oh, my gosh, we haven’t even talked since you found Abigail. You must be absolutely over the moon.

I am. Yeah. It’s a miracle. It’s not quite perfect, but I’m blessed. Yeah.

No, I know– actually, when I first heard the news, I just– I thought maybe it wasn’t true, you know? But actually, I thought Clyde was lying. – Hey, Mark. It’s me.

[tense music] Actually, it’s going pretty well. Last night, I was able to convince Chad to move back home to be with the kids.

Yeah. I mean, it’s a relief to not have him hovering all the time. And now that I can finally breathe, I think you and I need to figure out the next step of our plan.

I don’t know why I’m suddenly getting cold feet. I want to get back at Stefan. I really do.

Well, you don’t have to make a decision right away. Think it through. Because once the cat’s out of the bag, there’s no going back.

Why are you being so nice about this?

I suppose because I’ve recently had my own heart broken. And I was angry but also hurt. And I know I would do anything to make my pain go away, even if meant swallowing my own pride.

[knock at door]

Hey, EJ, have you seen– Gabi.

[dramatic music]

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Paulina and Abe are at home, reading the Spectator article about Brady being the driver who hit Sarah. Paulina talks about it being hard enough to believe Brady fell off the wagon and then to drive drunk and hit Sarah. Abe can’t imagine how John and Marlena must be feeling, adding that he will call John later today. Paulina says her heart goes out to them and Sarah’s family. Paulina then says on happier subjects is how Abe is going to make Chanel a star.

Chanel practices her lines for Body and Soul in the living room of the DiMera Mansion. Johnny comes in and greets her, noting that she’s up early as they kiss. Chanel excitedly talks about wanting to nail her audition for Body and Soul.

Alex goes to see Stephanie and asks if it’s a bad time. Stephanie says she was just reading the news and can certainly use a break from that. Alex assumes that she heard about Brady. Stephanie confirms that Jada came by and told her, noting that she can’t believe he’s the one who hit Sarah. Alex says he can’t either, especially since Justin is taking his case. Alex says he’s glad Brady has an attorney but worries that Xander is going to be furious. Stephanie says it’s all so awful. Alex says he didn’t want to take up her time but wanted to check on his laptop after he spilled water on it. Stephanie responds that it’s in the shop and should be fixed. Alex asks about her business proposal. Stephanie reveals she actually got the job without it which Alex says is great. Alex asks what the job is. Stephanie informs him that Abe hired her to do PR for Body and Soul. Alex then reveals that he might be working there too.

Hattie goes to the Body and Soul office where Leo is and says she thought she might find him there. Leo assumes she is Marlena and talks to her about his new job as head writer. Hattie goes along with it as if she is Marlena and congratulates him and then says they are going to have to fire Hattie because she changed her mind and decided she wants to play Charlemagne.

Roman brings Kate breakfast at the Brady Pub. Roman talks about closing the Pub for Labor Day and now he can focus on her. Kate asks if Roman ever thought about closing the Pub for a day or two on a regular basis. Roman questions why he would do that. Kate feels he works too hard and that the staff would like a regular day off or two but Roman doesn’t think his staff would like the days off their weekly paycheck. Roman adds that he hates to think about the Pub being empty for two whole days a week. Kate points out that it doesn’t have to be empty as she asks what Roman thinks about letting her and Abe film Body and Soul in the Pub.

Abe tells Paulina that he wishes he could take credit for casting Chanel in Body and Soul but it was actually Johnny’s idea. Paulina says she doesn’t care as long as she’s front row when Chanel wins her first daytime Emmy. Abe points out that Chanel hasn’t even auditioned yet but Paulina assures that she will get the part because she is talented and beautiful.

Chanel talks to Johnny about being excited and nervous but like she really understands her character. Johnny reminds her that if she gets the part, she won’t be able to be at the Bakery a lot. Chanel assures that the staff at the Bakery will have to get used to running it without her. Chanel adds that a chance to work with her director husband is all the incentive she needs. Johnny tells her that he will be directing her audition. Chanel wonders if Abe and Kate have found someone to play her love interest yet. Johnny informs her that Abe said he thinks he found the perfect guy.

Stephanie asks Alex about Abe approaching him to work on Body and Soul. Alex admits he’s never done any acting but asks how hard it can really be, saying he’d just read the lines and pretend to be somebody else. Stephanie thinks it takes talent to make people believe he’s someone else. Alex hopes he has a little bit of the talent but says if not, that’s fine and he just thought this might be fun. Stephanie asks about his role. Alex says that Abe only told him that his name is Arrow, who Leo described as a heartthrob with chiseled features and washboard abs.

Hattie continues pretending to be Marlena and encourages Leo that he will have to fire Hattie so that she can take over the role as Charlemagne but Leo remains hesitant. Leo says firing Hattie won’t be that easy since she has a contract and they can’t just get rid of her without cause. Hattie continues trying to convince Leo and offers him free therapy for a year.

Roman questions Kate wanting to turn the Brady Pub in to a soap opera set. Kate asks why not, pointing out that a lot of businesses rent out to productions and talks about how easy it would be. Roman feels it would be a lot of work but Kate insists that a crew will take care of that and they’ll put everything back at the end of the day. Roman is unsure. Kate pleads with him and talks about how desperate Abe is to make Body and Soul a hit, asking if Roman will really disappoint his best friend.

Abe agrees with Paulina that Chanel is perfect for the role of Faith. Paulina asks who Abe is thinking to play the role of her love interest. Abe responds that he definitely has the right look and energy. Abe then reveals it’s Alex. Paulina asks if he’s joking. Abe asks what’s wrong with Alex.

Alex admits to Stephanie that he’s a bit nervous as it’s a big part. Stephanie offers to go over his lines with him for the audition which Alex agrees to do. Stephanie is impressed and calls him daytime Emmy worthy.

Abe asks Paulina again what’s wrong with Alex. Paulina responds that it’s not about her as it’s not her that will have a problem with Chanel and Alex working together. Abe asks who does. Paulina brings up Johnny. Abe questions why he would have a problem with them working together, but then realizes as Paulina brings up that Alex slept with Johnny’s twin sister and with Chanel.

Johnny tells Chanel that the director part of him hopes Abe is right about finding the perfect guy but the husband part of him hopes not which Chanel jokes with him about. Chanel talks about how Faith and Arrow are supposed to be a super couple. Johnny reminds her that both characters have evil twins. Johnny encourages Chanel to let go of the pressure and just be herself. They joke with each other as they kiss. Chanel then asks Johnny to help her run her lines.

Alex and Stephanie continue going over his lines as they get close.

Leo tells Hattie as Marlena that it wouldn’t be fair to Hattie. Hattie continues pretending to be Marlena. Leo talks about how Hattie is so excited to play Charlemagne and relates to how he feels about getting to write the show. Leo declares that he can’t help Marlena with this. She tells Leo to either stand by Marlena or Hattie and asks what’s it going to be. Leo says as much as he’s come to value Marlena’s friendship, he will not be strong-armed in to firing Hattie. She questions this being the line Leo won’t cross. Hattie then starts crying that she’s never been so moved in her life and reveals that she is Hattie, which shocks Leo. Hattie says she was just acting a little bit and testing Leo, who passed with flying colors. Leo admits she did an amazing impression of Marlena but tells her never to do that again as he’s had it with doppelgangers. Bonnie then storms in and tells Leo that they need to talk about the script because it’s a total mess.

Kate tells Roman to think about how many tourists will come to the Brady Pub when Body and Soul gets underway as everyone will want to see where it’s filmed. Roman agrees to let Kate and Abe film episodes there two days a week. Kate hugs him and calls him the best. Roman says he just wants them to do as well as they can. Kate says if he means that, he will ask Kayla if they can use the nurse’s station as a set as well.

Abe thought Chanel and Allie broke up because Allie and Alex were together. Paulina confirms they were but hopes Abe isn’t too shocked when she tells him that they had a threesome which surprises Abe. Paulina says that’s the problem with having Chanel and Alex. Abe guesses that explains the sparks which Paulina questions. Abe explains that he saw Alex and Chanel arguing in the town square and their love-hate chemistry was off the charts. Paulina wonders what they were arguing about. Abe says they told him they were rehashing an ancient argument between them. Paulina calls the Allie situation a whole lifetime ago and Chanel is obviously happy with Johnny, so it might be fine. Abe admits that Chanel and Johnny don’t know that he wants Alex for the role of Arrow. Paulina is shocked that Abe didn’t tell them about it. Abe argues that he just found out about all this dirt right now. Paulina warns that Abe needs to give them a heads up before the audition or all hell is going to break loose.

Alex and Stephanie regroup and continue going over his lines. They end up getting close again up to the point where the script calls for them to kiss.

Chanel and Johnny finish going over their lines and kiss. Chanel jokes about her screen partner kissing her like that. Johnny is sure it will all be professional but will have to get used to the idea of another guy kissing his wife. Chanel assures he has nothing to worry about as she only wants him as they kiss again. Johnny suggests they go practice an epic love scene before her audition, so they head upstairs together, leaving the phone behind as Abe tries to call.

Bonnie says she’s sorry to interrupt but it’s urgent that she speak with Leo because they have major problems with the script which Leo questions. Bonnie complains about Charlemagne getting the last word in the first scene and argues that it makes her character look wimpy. Hattie questions her. Bonnie assumes Hattie is Marlena and tells her that this is between her and Leo, complaining that Charlemagne gets the better of her in every scene and compares their amount of lines. Bonnie argues that her character Cassandra is the star of the show. Hattie disagrees, so Bonnie questions why this is Marlena’s business. Hattie then reveals who she is, so Bonnie hugs her and calls it wonderful for them to be working together. Bonnie credits Hattie encouraging her to try out for the show which Hattie says she wouldn’t have done if she knew she was going to try to steal the limelight. Hattie declares that she is the star while Leo worries about what he has gotten himself in to.

Abe leaves a message for Johnny to call him back as it’s about Chanel and her acting partner in the audition today. Abe hangs up and informs Paulina that Johnny and Chanel’s phones both went straight to voicemail. Paulina urges him to keep trying as she doesn’t want them to be blindsided by walking in and seeing Alex. Paulina doesn’t understand why Alex would even want to audition, feeling he’s more of the merger and acquisitions type. Abe responds that he was, until he lost the Kiriakis fortune to Xander. Paulina guesses she could see how he would want a career change then. Abe doesn’t want to cause a problem with Johnny and Chanel’s marriage. Paulina says she knows that. Abe adds that when he saw Chanel and Alex arguing, he knew they were destined to be together. Paulina questions if he’s saying Chanel and Alex but Abe clarifies that he means their characters, Arrow and Faith.

Alex tells Stephanie that he’ll save the kiss for the actual audition and asks how he did. Stephanie encourages that he was great and a natural. Alex thanks her and asks if she has any notes. Stephanie says the only thing she would say is that he could slow down a bit and not race to the finish line. Stephanie encourages him to let the moment breathe which Alex calls a really good note. Alex thanks her and says he appreciates it. Alex decides he should get going as they hug. She wishes him luck and he thanks her again as he exits.

Bonnie goes to the Brady Pub where Roman tells her they are closed for Labor Day. Bonnie argues that Labor Day is why she’s here. Roman guesses it has to do with her work on Body and Soul. Bonnie argues that she took her grievances to Leo but he didn’t care, so she wanted to go over his head to Kate. Roman says she went out and asks what this is about. Bonnie complains that Leo is going to get the show cancelled before it’s on the air and calls Hattie a diva. Hattie then arrives at the Pub and asks Roman who would be better on the cover of a magazine between her and Bonnie.

Leo goes to see Stephanie and thanks her for the amazing press release about him. Leo hopes she can get him a feature in Soaps and Style magazine. Stephanie agrees to try.

Paulina tells Abe that she’s more concerned with protecting Johnny and Chanel’s romance than Arrow and Faith. Paulina says she has to get to a meeting and asks Abe to take care of this. Abe says he’s off to the studio now, so Paulina tells him to hurry but Kate arrives and says she’s glad she caught Abe before he went to the office. Kate announces that Roman has agreed to let them use the Brady Pub as a set. Abe says that’s great, but Kate asks what’s wrong. Paulina remarks that while Kate is out solving problems, Abe is here creating new ones.

Chanel and Johnny go to the Body and Soul office. They talk about researching soap operas and how they started in the 1930s. Chanel says she needs to get in to character and start thinking about her hot new mystery leading man. Chanel tells Johnny that she’s just messing with him as he’s the only leading man in her life. They kiss until Alex arrives. Chanel questions what he’s doing there. Alex reveals that he’s here for his audition and with any luck, he will be the Arrow to her Faith.

Finn got a “vibe” from her, and Bill mentioned that she needs extra care, so Bill tells him about Luna kissing him and how he feels bad for her. He thinks the kisses were due to all of the terrible things going on in her life. He tells Finn that he offered to pay for a therapist, but she’s not ready yet. Finn is alarmed. He then gets an alert on his phone that it’s pairing with Steffy’s nearby phone, so they find it in on the table near the door. It’s on Do Not Disturb. Now he’s very worried, knowing she would never leave town without her phone. Bill offers help to find Steffy, but Finn tells him to watch over Luna.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

You know, it’s hard enough to believe that Brady fell off the wagon after being sober for so long, but to drive drunk and run poor Sarah down?

Yeah, I can’t imagine what John and Marlena are going through right now. You know, I think I’ll call John a little bit later today.

Aw. Oh, my heart goes out to them and, oh, you know, to Sarah’s family, of course, as well. Uh, but on to happier subjects.

Well, what kind of subject is that?

That would be how my amazing TV producer husband is going to make my baby girl a star.

[chuckles]

“Arrow, you have to believe me. “When I thought you were dead, my heart was broken, shattered. “My god, if I had known that you were alive and that we could be together, then–”

Good morning.

Good morning, my love.

You are up early.

Well, you know what they say. The early bird not only gets the worm, but she also nails her audition for streaming’s hottest new soap opera.

That’s my girl.

Bad time?

No, no. No, come in. I was just– I was just checking out the news. I can certainly use a break from that.

Yeah. Speaking of news, I’m assuming you heard about Brady.

I did, yeah. Jada came by last night and told me. I can’t believe he’s the one who hit Sarah.

Yeah, I can’t either, especially now that my dad is taking his case. I mean, I’m glad that Brady’s got an attorney, but Xander is going to be furious about this.

Yeah, this is going to be hard on the entire family. God, it’s all just so awful.

I know it is. Anyway, I didn’t mean to take up any of your time. I just wanted to see if your laptop might have been on the mend after my clumsy ass threw water all over it.

[laughs] No, my laptop is on the road to recovery, I’m happy to report. It’s in the shop, and they think they should be able to fix it.

Good, good. And are they able to salvage your business proposal?

I actually got the job without it.

No way. Are you– Steph that’s great. Come on, what is the– what’s the job?

Abe hired me to do PR for the soap opera that he’s producing. It’s called “Body & Soul.”

“Body & Soul.”

What, you know it?

I do. I do. As it turns out, I might be working there too.

Oh, Dr. Evans.

I thought I might find you here. Good morning, Leo.

Good morning. And again, I am so sorry that I had to cancel our date to watch “Drag Race” last night. I have been swamped here, working around the clock pretty much.

Oh, well, I’m happy for you. Congratulations on the new job.

Ah, thanks. I’m still pinching myself. I mean, head writer of a soap opera? Can you even believe it?

It’s just wonderful.

Thanks.

Yeah. And well deserved.

Aw.

I didn’t actually come here to congratulate you.

Oh, OK.

I came here to tell you that I’ve changed my mind, and I’m afraid you’re going to have to fire Hattie Adams.

Fire Hattie? I don’t understand.

Well, because I’m accepting the job. Because I want to be Charlemagne!

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

All right.

[gasps]

Here you go.

Oh. Thank you, my love

I am glad that I closed the pub for Labor Day. And not just because my staff deserved a day off, but also because now I can focus on one very special customer, my beautiful wife.

You are so good to me.

That is my goal in life.

You know, Roman, have you ever thought about closing the pub for a day, maybe two, on a– you know, a regular basis?

Why would I do that?

Well, because you work too hard, that’s why. Also, I mean, I’m sure your staff would like a couple of days off a week.

Well, I don’t think my staff would like losing days off their weekly paycheck. And also, you know, I just hate to think about this place being empty two whole days a week.

Well, I mean, it wouldn’t have to be empty.

What do you mean?

Well, what do you think about letting Abe and me film “Body & Soul” right here in The Brady Pub?

Well, I wish I could take credit for casting Chanel in “Body & Soul,” but that was actually Johnny’s idea.

Oh, well, I don’t care who came up with the brilliant idea, so long as I’m right up there in the front row when Shemar Moore hands my daughter her first of many Daytime Emmys.

[laughter]

Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. She hasn’t even auditioned yet.

Oh, of course she’ll get the part. Hey, she’s– my baby is talented, smart, and beautiful. She’s the total package.

Just like her mama.

[laughs]

Oh, Johnny, I am so excited about this audition. I’m nervous, too, but like a good nervous, you know? And I feel like I really understand my character.

Well, I am sure that you are going to do great, OK? And you’re still cool with the bakery, right? ‘Cause if you get this part, you’re really not going to be able to be there a whole lot.

What do you mean “if” I get the part?

I’m sorry. When you get the part.

OK, well when I get it, the staff at the bakery is just going to have to get used to running it without my day-to-day input. And anyway, a chance to work with my brilliant director husband is really all the incentive that I need to make it work.

Well, I am very happy to hear you say that because I am going to be the one directing your audition today.

Oh, that is so cool. And I wonder if Abe and Kate have found my love interest yet.

You know, as a matter of fact, Abe said that he thinks he’s found the perfect guy.

Oh.

So Abe approached you about auditioning for the soap, huh?

He said I’d be perfect.

Hmm.

“Hmm”? “Hmm” what? You look skeptical.

No, I just, have you ever done any acting?

No. No. But I mean, how hard could it really be, right? I mean, you just read the lines and pretend that you’re somebody else.

Right, right. But I do– I do think it takes a certain talent, you know, to pretend in a way that makes people believe that you’re actually someone else.

Yes, and I agree with you on that, for sure. And I’m hoping that maybe I possess a little bit of that talent. And if I don’t, you know, it’s fine. It’s not like it was my life’s ambition. You know, I just thought it might be fun.

Yeah, yeah. No, for sure.

Right.

Wait, so what’s your role? Are you a hero, a villain?

I don’t know. Abe just told me that the guy’s name is Arrow.

[gasps] Arrow?

I mean, according to Leo’s description, he’s a heartthrob with chiseled features and washboard abs.

Oh, well, forget that. You don’t stand a chance.

Oh.

So you changed your mind, and now you want to play Charlemagne?

I do. Abe offered me that job first. You can’t have two Charlemagnes. So you need to let Hattie go, and then you can bring me in as– I don’t know– as her lookalike. You’ll think of something.

Well, I– I–

What? Aren’t we BFFs?

Wow. Yeah. But– but I–

But what? Are you going to help me land my dream role or what?

Leo, why are you looking so doubtful? Are you going to help me or not?

Look, you know, I would like to, but firing Hattie is not going to be that easy. She– she has a contract. “Body & Soul” can’t just get rid of her without cause.

Well, there’s a cause. It’s ’cause Marlena Evans wants the part.

That’s– that’s not cause. See, if that were the case, then every actor in the world could just be replaced by someone else who wanted that part. Besides, even if they did decide to fire Hattie, they would have to pay the length of her contract, and they’re not going to want to do that.

Hmm, OK. I’ll do it for free. Problem solved.

Say what now? You’re going to forego a salary?

I don’t need the money. I’m a doctor. I’m rich. Besides, I don’t want to miss my chance to be the it girl.

The it girl?

Yeah. OK, fine. Hard bargain. I’ll give you free therapy for a year.

Oh.

I know, I know, I know. So what’s it going to be? You going to fire Hattie and hire me? Hmm?

OK. Let me get this straight. You want to turn my family’s beloved Irish pub into a soap opera set?

Yes. Why not? I mean, there’s a lot of businesses that rent out to production companies, you know. I mean, it’d be so easy. We could have the cameras out there, video monitors up there. We could have trailers outside for hair and makeup.

Sounds like a whole lot of work.

No, you wouldn’t even have to lift a finger. Our crew would do all of that, Roman, including putting everything exactly where they found it. OK? They’d put everything back at the end of the taping day.

[grumbles] I don’t know, Kate.

Oh, come on. Please, Roman. Come on, just think about it. If not for your loving wife, what about your friend Abe? Do you know how desperate Abe is to make “Body & Soul” a hit? Really? Are you really going to disappoint your best friend in the world?

Well, when you’re right, you’re right. Chanel would be perfect for the role of Faith.

Of course she is. And if you find the right fella to play her love interest, oh, then sparks will fly all over Hollywood by way of Salem.

Well, let’s hope so.

So, well, you know, well, don’t keep me in suspense. Who are you thinking of?

Well, he is someone who definitely has the right look and the right energy.

Who are you thinking of?

Alex Kiriakis.

You’re joking, right?

What’s wrong with Alex?

Yeah, I got to admit, I’m a little nervous. This is a pretty big part, you know.

Well, would it help if I went over your lines with you for the audition?

Aw, Steph, you don’t have to do that. Come on.

No, no, I want to.

OK, well if you insist, in that case, here’s my audition scene. Printed it out.

Ah, well, then let’s do it.

All right. Obviously, I’m Arrow. And you are Faith.

OK. And what, you already have your lines memorized?

Yeah. I’m off book, as they say.

Oh, fancy.

Mm-hmm.

OK.

[clears throat]

Here we are.

“Arrow, you have to believe me. “When I thought you were dead, my heart was broken, shattered. “My god, if only I’d known that you were alive and that we could be together.”

Faith, I do believe you, but that doesn’t mean that we can go on as if nothing happened. Because, well…

[sighs] Everything has changed.

Even your feelings for me?

No, not that. My feelings for you could never change. How could they? You’re the love of my life. You always will be.

Wow. Daytime Emmy worthy.

Yeah?

Yeah.

Hey, all right.

Really good.

Thank you. Thank you.

[exhales]

So what’s wrong with Alex Kiriakis?

Well, this isn’t about me. I’m not the one who’s going to have an issue with Chanel and Alex working together.

Well, who does?

For starters, Chanel’s husband.

Why would Johnny have a problem with Alex and Chanel working together? Oh. Oh, that’s because–

Uh-huh, yeah, yeah. Because not only did Alex sleep with Johnny’s twin sister, he also slept with Chanel.

You know, the director part of me hopes that Abe is right about this guy and he’s the perfect guy to play the role of Arrow. But the husband part of me is kind of hoping secretly that this guy is dog’s breakfast fugly.

Oh, hey. Don’t be wishing bad juju on my future scene partner. It’s already enough pressure that I have to make it sizzle with him on screen, since Faith and Arrow are “Body & Soul’s” hot young supercouple.

And don’t forget that they both have evil twins. You can’t forget the evil twins.

How could I?

Hey look, seriously, baby, I think you just need to let go of all this pressure, all right? Just go in there and be your amazing self.

Says my biased director husband who suggested me for the role.

No, no, no. Says the seasoned director who suggested you for the role. And by seasoned, I mean a couple of student films and an aborted biopic about my grandmother’s battle with demonic possession.

[chuckles] Well, hey. Yu are Salem’s answer to Christopher Nolan in my book.

Well, thank you for that vote of confidence. And now if I may suggest something to help you get a little more relaxed before your audition?

Mm. Fine minds think alike. You’re gonna help me run lines.

Yeah, OK.

All those months I spent rec– recovering?

Uh, close, recuperating.

Recuperating, recuperating. I keep doing that. All those months I spent– you know what? Can we just take it from the top? I keep fumbling the whole part about Dr. Steinbeck’s–

Stenbeck.

Stenbeck, Stenbeck. Yes, the brain surgeon who brought me back to life after my brain transplant thing.

Yeah, man, what a guy.

What a guy.

What a guy. OK, from the top.

OK, from the top.

Arrow, you have to believe me. When I thought you were dead, my heart was broken, shattered. My god, if only I’d known that you were alive and that we could be together.

Faith, I do believe you. But that doesn’t mean that anything has changed. I mean, because everything has changed.

Don’t get me wrong, Dr. Evans, I would love the chance to write for you.

Fine. Then why don’t you? What’s the problem?

It’s just– it wouldn’t be fair to Hattie.

Who cares about Hattie? You didn’t even know that broad.

“That broad”?

I mean, that woman. Yeah. I mean “that woman.” I mean, until recently, you thought she was me.

Yes, that’s–that’s true. But Dr. Evans, it just– it wouldn’t be right. Hattie is so excited about playing Charlemagne. I mean, you are a successful therapist, you know. But for her, this is a big break. And look, I can relate. That’s how I feel about getting to write the show. I’m sorry, Dr. Evans, but I cannot help you with this.

I’m afraid you have to.

No, Dr. Evans, I won’t.

Yes, you will. Listen to me. I want to play Charlemagne, and it seems to me that you have a decision to make. Either you stand by your BFF right here in front of you or you stand by that crazy Hattie Adams. So what’s it gonna be?

Dr. Evans, as much as I have come to value our best friendship, I will not allow you to strongarm me into firing Hattie. Contrary to popular belief, there are lines that Leo Stark will not cross.

Really?

Mm-hmm.

You don’t mind conspiring to–to–to hurt a child and make Nicole think that her baby was dead. But when it comes to firing Hattie Adams, that’s a bridge too far?

Exactly.

Well! I have never been so insulted in my life.

[sobbing] And I’ve never been so moved in my life.

[sobs]

Huh?

You stood by me, Lenny!

Hattie?

The one and only.

What the hell?

Oh, please, please. It’s OK. I just– I was– I was just auditioning a little bit. And I was testing your loyalty. And you know what? You passed with flying colors.

And you? Wow, you really do an amazing impression of Dr. Evans.

And I’ve been told that before.

Yeah, well, I admit I’m impressed, but don’t ever do that to me again. I have had it up to here with doppelgangers.

Leo. Good, you’re here. We need to talk about this script. It’s a total mess.

And besides, do you realize how many tourists are going to be flocking here once “Body & Soul” gets underway? I mean, everyone’s going to want to see the place where their favorite soap opera is being taped. Not to mention the merchandise– the hats, the t-shirts.

All right, all right, all right. Stop twisting my arm, OK? You and Abe can film episodes here two days a week.

God, Roman. Honey, you are the best.

I just want you and Abe to do as well as you can do, OK?

Do you really mean that?

Yes, of course I do.

Then ask Kayla if we can use the nurse’s station for Pineview Hospital set.

I had thought that Chanel and Allie broke up because Alex and Allie were, well, you know, together.

They did, yes. But that was only after– well, I hope you’re not too shocked when I tell you.

Tell me what?

That they had a threesome.

Who had a threesome? Oh.

Yes. “Oh.” So now you see the problem with having Chanel and Alex, you know?

I do. And I guess that explains the sparks.

What sparks?

Well, I saw the two of them arguing in the square. And I tell you, that love-hate chemistry, it was off the charts.

Well, I wonder what they were arguing about.

They told me that they were rehashing an ancient argument between the two of them.

Oh, well, you know, that Allie situation was a whole lifetime ago. And I mean, you know, Chanel is obviously really happy with Johnny, so it might be fine. And hey, if Chanel and Johnny are OK with, you know, Alex auditioning for the show.

Well, about that, they don’t know that I want Alex for the role of Arrow.

What? What? You mean you didn’t tell them that Chanel is auditioning with Alex today?

I just found out about this dirt right now.

You need to give Chanel and Johnny a heads-up about this before they show up to that audition, or all hell is going to break loose.

OK, where were we?

Uh, Arrow was about to tell Faith just how hard he’d worked to get back to her after his dead twin brother’s brain was transplanted into his skull, complete with the microchip containing all of Arrow’s memories.

Right, of course. OK, OK, here we are. All right. All right.

[clears throat] Damn it, Faith. Do you know what I went through to get back to you? All those months I spent recuperating on Dr. Steinbeck’s– Stenbeck’s tropical island, surviving a bout of rain forest fever, fighting off an entire militia group, only to get back to Pineview and find out that the love of my life was about to marry my father?

[gasps] Boy, Leo has a flair for the dramatic.

Hey, come on.

OK, OK. Wait, sorry, sorry. Whoa. OK. Arrow, you have to believe me. I thought you were dead when I agreed to be Drex’s wife. I mean, you died in my arms. What else was I supposed to think? And I wept in that Pineview Hospital chapel as they took out your brain and put it into Charlemagne’s head to save her from terminal frontal lobe sarcoidosis. You’d died. And on top of that, your brain was gone. Don’t you see? I grieved for you until your ghost returned to me at your gravesite on our third wedding anniversary and told me it was time to move on.

Faith, that wasn’t my ghost. That was an AI-enhanced generated hologram that Dr. Spenbeck created in my father’s behest. Drex wanted complete control over you and, not to mention, complete control over my entire family’s empire.

Oh, Arrow, I don’t know what to believe.

I’ll tell you what to believe, Faith. Believe in me. Believe in our love. Believe in our love that stood the test of time and was our compass and our North Star guiding our intertwined hearts through space and time.

[romantic music] If you can’t believe in anything else, believe in love.

And now, it– it says they kiss.

If you can’t believe in anything else, believe in love.

[sighs, chuckles] Well, if my scene partner kisses me like that, he just might have to carry me away.

Yeah, well, he’d better not.

Come on, G. You know I’m just yanking your chain. And anyway, need I remind you that you were the one that wanted me to audition for this soap opera?

Yeah, yeah.

So you had to know that I was gonna have love interests.

I know that. And I’m sure that it will all be very professional. But I’m going to have to get used to the idea of some other guy kissing my wife and her pretending to like it.

Well, you don’t have anything to worry about, OK? You are the only arrow I want in my quiver.

Oh, she’s funny and she’s beautiful. A devastating combo.

I know.

And now, perhaps, we could, um– I was thinking we could go practice that epic Arrow-Faith love scene reunion. I think we have just enough time before your audition.

Well, lead the way, Mr. Director.

I know. I know the way.

[both chuckle]

Hey there, Bonnie.

Oh, hey, Marlena. Sorry, could you excuse us? Leo and I need to talk.

Bonnie, I’m not–

No, I’m sorry to interrupt, but this is urgent. We have major problems with the script.

We do? What’s the problem with the script?

Well, first off, the first scene. Charlemagne gets the last word.

What’s wrong with that?

Everything’s wrong with that. Why would Kassandra let Charlemagne have the last word? It makes my character look, you know, wimpy.

What about Charlemagne’s character?

I’m sorry, Marlena, but this is between Leo and me. And the first scene is just the tip of the iceberg. Charlemagne gets the better of Kassandra in every single scene.

I wouldn’t say that.

I wouldn’t say that.

I’m sorry, Marlena, what would you know about it? Look, Leo, I’ll spell it out for you. Charlemagne has speeches and Kassandra only .

You counted lines?

Well, of course I did. Obviously, Kassandra is the star of the show.

Oh, I wouldn’t say that.

I’m sorry, Marlena, what are you doing here? And why is this any of your business?

Well, I’m not sure that it’s Marlena’s business, but I think it might be Hattie’s business.

[scoffs] Hattie?

[inhales] Hattie.

The one and only.

Oh, for Pete’s sake. I thought you were Marlena!

That makes two of us.

Oh, come here, sister, and give us a hug.

Oh!

Oh, now, come on, isn’t this wonderful, us working together again? And this time, it’s totally legal.

[laughs]

Yeah. I heard you were trying to get involved with this piece.

Well, yeah, yeah, since you encouraged me and all.

Well, I wouldn’t have encouraged you if I’d realized you were going to try to steal the limelight.

Huh?

Come on, Bonnie. Let’s just get past this. There’s only one starring part in this piece, and it’s Charlemagne. And I am playing Charlemagne!

Oh, god. What have I gotten myself into?

Johnny, Johnny, can you call me back? It’s about Chanel and her acting partner in the audition today.

[phone beeps] Hmm. Straight to voicemail. Just like Chanel.

Oh, well, Abe, you got to keep trying. I just don’t want those kids blindsided when they walk into that production office and see Alex Kiriakis. And, you know, for the life of me, I just don’t understand why Alex would even want to be in our soap opera. I mean, isn’t he more of a merger and acquisitions type?

Well, he was until he lost the Kiriakis fortune to Xander.

Uh, yeah, well, oh, I guess I could see how the guy would want a career change.

Paulina, I do not want to cause a problem with Johnny and Chanel’s marriage.

I know, Abe. Of course you don’t. I know that.

But I tell you, when I saw them arguing, and they were–they were mad as hell, I knew. I knew they were destined to be together.

Who’s destined to be together, Chanel and Alex?

No, Arrow and Faith.

I think I’ll save the kiss for the audition.

Right. Yeah. Good idea, good idea.

Right, yeah. So how’d I do?

Uh, you were great. You were great. I’m not a director, obviously, but I’ve supervised some photo shoots where the models have to bring a shot to life, you know? And you were a natural, Alex, really.

Come on. You really think so?

I do.

[exhales] Well, thank you.

Yeah.

Any notes?

Um, you know, the only thing I would say is that you could– you could slow down a bit. Don’t, you know, race to the finish line. I mean, this is a big moment for Arrow and Faith, right? So you want to– you want to let it breathe.

Yeah, you’re right. That’s a really good note. I got it. Slow down, slow my roll. Thank you. I appreciate it.

Yeah.

Anyway, I should probably get going. And I really want to give you a hug.

I would– I would like that, yeah.

Me too.

[chuckles]

Thank you.

You’re welcome.

All right. All right, I’m out.

OK, all right.

Thank you again.

Yep. Well, good luck, and, you know, break a leg.

Oh, yeah. Thank you.

[sighs] “Break a leg”?

[exhales]

Ah, Bonnie. It’s Labor Day, we’re closed.

Oh, Labor Day. That’s right. You know what? That’s perfect. Because everything that Labor Day stands for is exactly why I’m here, to have one’s work be fair and equitable.

OK, long shot here, I’m guessing this has to do with your role on the soap.

Oh, you’re darn tootin’ it does. I went to take my grievances to Leo Stark, but he couldn’t care less. So I’m just gonna go over his head. Is your wife around?

Uh, no, she went to see Abe. Can I ask what’s so urgent that you need to talk to her this very minute?

I have concerns, Roman, major concerns! In fact, if Kate and Abe aren’t careful, that hack they hired to write the reboot of “Body & Soul” will get it canceled after its very first episode. And don’t even get me started on that diva of a so-called leading lady!

Would this be the diva to which you refer? Roman, I’m glad you’re here. You can help decide. Who would be better suited to be on the cover of “Soaps and Style Magazine.” Her or me?

What can I do for you, Leo?

I just wanted to thank you for that amazing press release you did about me. “And at the helm of the reboot of ‘Body & Soul’ “will be Salem’s own Lady Whistleblower, Leo Stark, “whose wit and imagination will surely infuse the show with new and vibrant energy.”

[exhales proudly]

Glad you liked it.

Are you kidding? I was kvellingwhen I read it. And now I’m hoping you can get me a feature in “Soaps and Style Magazine.”

I can definitely try.

Great. How’s this for a headline? “Queer As Soap.” What do you think?

[quirky music]

Well, forgive me if I am more worried about protecting Chanel and Johnny’s real-life star-crossed romance than Arrow and Faith’s.

I understand.

Well, I got to get to a meeting. Oh, will you please, please, take care of this, Abe, will you?

Definitely. I’m off to the studio right now.

OK, well you better hurry.

Mm.

[knocking on door]

Oh, hey.

Hey. Good, you’re still here. I’m glad I got you before you went to the office. Great news; Roman has agreed to let us use Brady Pub as a “Body & Soul” set.

Well, that is great. Uh, but–

But what? What’s wrong?

I can tell you what’s wrong. While you’re out solving problems, your partner here is creating new ones.

I was researching soap operas and did you know that they started in the early s as -minute radio episodes?

Yes, I was doing some research too. And did you know that the original program generally considered to be a soap opera by scholars of the genre was actually the show called “Painted Dreams,” which premiered on WGN Radio Chicago in ?

Wow. And now, I need to get into character…

[sighs] And start thinking about my hot, new, mystery leading man.

[chuckles] You love to torture me, don’t you?

[giggles] Come on. You know I’m just messing with you. You know that you are the only leading man in my life, and you always will be.

Hey there.

Alex? What are you doing here?

Here for my audition. With any luck, I’m gonna be the Arrow to your Faith.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Chad questions “Abigail” saying she wants him to move out. She says he needs to be with the kids since they miss him and that they agreed not to have their mother thrust back in their life but says it’s not fair for them to see Chad split his focus between them and her. Chad sees her point but questions what she’s going to do if he leaves. She says if his family doesn’t have a problem with it, she’ll just stay at the DiMera Mansion but Chad doesn’t like that idea.

Stephanie dances to music at home until Jada shows up at her door and says she’s sorry to just drop by. Stephanie offers her a glass of wine but Jada says she can’t stay long and just wanted to drop off Everett’s ashes.

Melinda tries to break free from being tied up and wishes Li could help her but says he had to go and get stabbed. Melinda then remembers her conversation with Connie where Connie told her about her revenge plan and that Gil didn’t stab Li. Melinda says to herself that she was so strung out on the poisoned tea that she completely forgot Connie said that and wonders what the hell she meant.

Connie points out that now Ava is unemployed and remarks that she’s glad Gabi made Kristen fire Ava because she doesn’t deserve to work at DiMera. Ava comments on Connie being let go too. Connie argues that she’s gainfully employed. Ava brings up that last time she spoke to Melinda, she was on her way to Connie’s apartment to give her the axe. Connie questions why Melinda would fire her. Ava brings up her resume being a lie. Connie calls that ridiculous and claims that Melinda never came to see her and she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Connie warns Ava about continuing to make accusations against her.

Gabi listens in from outside the living room as EJ argues that Stefan shares an affinity for Ava that he and Gabi do not. Stefan responds that he doesn’t owe him an explanation. EJ agrees and warns Stefan that any enemy of Ava’s is a friend of his as he declares that means Gabi is his new BFF. Gabi thinks back to Connie’s suggestion that she should sleep with someone else too. Gabi then pulls out her phone and sends a text message.

Connie tells Ava not to go around gossiping about her. Ava responds that she doesn’t care about her or Gabi enough to talk about either of them. Connie then gets a text from Gabi and says her boss needs her as she walks away.

Chad tells “Abigail” that it’s not what he doesn’t want her there but his family is nuts, bringing up the duct tape all over the living room. Chad says his family handle disagreements in very weird ways and they are dangerous, so he doesn’t want to leave her alone with them. She asks if that’s the reason he’s worried. Chad asks why else he would be worried. She asks if he’s afraid she’s going to sleep with Stefan and EJ again.

Stefan questions EJ saying that any enemy of Ava’s is a friend of his, arguing that he hates Gabi with a passion. Gabi then walks in and points out that EJ hates Ava more. Gabi congratulates EJ on landing on the right side of history and remarks that history is written by the winners. Stefan questions what exactly Gabi is planning on winning. Gabi says everything except him. Gabi adds that he might want to steer clear of “Abigail” since she knows that he took advantage of her in a complicated mental state as she filled her in on the details. Stefan argues that Chad didn’t want her to know. Gabi thinks she has a right to know that she’s living with a man who violated her, although she won’t be for long when her lawyer kicks him to the curb. Stefan calls this insane as Gabi reminds him to stay on his side of the line. Stefan gets a call that the fire alarm went off at the Bistro, so he hurries out.

Connie walks through the town square after pulling the fire alarm at the Bistro and texts Gabi that the mission was accomplished.

Jada explains to Stephanie that she was on her way to visit Rafe when the funeral home called and she hates to put this on her. Stephanie says it’s fine and it shouldn’t be Jada’s responsibility after what he did to Rafe, so she will take care of it. Stephanie asks how Jada is doing, being so busy with work and trying to visit Rafe. Jada says she thought after the break in Sarah’s case, she would feel better, but it was Brady Black which shocks Stephanie. Jada adds that Brady is booked and processed but he doesn’t remember anything from that night and she has a feeling there’s something she’s missing.

Melinda wonders aloud who stabbed Li if it wasn’t Gil Carter. Melinda then remembers Connie almost saying what she did and realizes that Connie killed Li. Melinda worries that she has to get out of here before Connie does the same to her.

Gabi calls the hospital to check on Rafe and says she’ll be by to see him in the morning. EJ asks her if there’s any news on Rafe. Gabi says there’s nothing. EJ wishes he could say he’s sorry. Gabi calls that low even for him and tells EJ that he doesn’t have to be a total jerk about her comatose brother just to prove that they don’t see eye to eye on anything except Ava. EJ questions her thinking that’s the only thing, reminding Gabi that she destroyed his marriage and his life. Gabi blames EJ for keeping Jude from his real dad and sent her to prison for a crime she didn’t commit. EJ argues that he was only in position to become district attorney to send her to prison because she unseated him at DiMera. Gabi argues that was only because Stefan had her convinced that they would run the town together which EJ laughs at.

Stefan walks through the town square and finishes a call that the fire alarm was a false alarm. Stefan runs in to Ava and tells her about someone pulling the fire alarm on purpose, questioning who would like to ruin his evening. Ava brings up Gabi but Stefan says he was with Gabi when he got the call, so Ava suggests maybe it was Gabi’s assistant, Connie.

Connie goes home and catches Melinda trying to escape being tied up. Connie informs Melinda that she gave Gabi some sage advice and when she takes it, it will be the final nail in the coffin of her marriage which will make her very happy. Melinda goes over Connie blaming Stefan and Gabi for Li’s murder. Connie responds that it was their fault and Melinda’s. Melinda says Connie knows that she didn’t stab Li and neither did Stefan or Gabi. Connie says not technically. Melinda remembers Connie telling her that Gil Carter didn’t do it either, so she’s wondering how Connie would know that unless she’s the one who murdered Li.

Chad tells “Abigail” that he doesn’t think anything is going to happen between her and EJ or Stefan, he just doesn’t want her in a house full of strangers who don’t have her best interests at heart. “Abigail” points out that everyone is a stranger to her and assures Chad they won’t be apart forever or even very long, just until her memories come back, but she doesn’t want to jerk the children around. Chad brings up how he made the mistake of thinking he was ready to move on when he thought Abigail was dead and he moved in with a woman, the kids got attached to her, and then they broke up so the kids were heartbroken and he doesn’t want to put them through anything like that again. Chad informs “Abigail” that it was with her cousin, Stephanie.

Stephanie asks if Jada doesn’t think Brady is guilty. Jada says that the evidence against him is strong but something isn’t sitting right with her. Jada apologizes and says she shouldn’t be talking to her about this but she’s so used to going home and hashing things out with Rafe, but now she’s alone in his home, trying to do his job. Stephanie encourages that she’s doing it so well. Jada says she just doesn’t want to disappoint Rafe or let him down. Jada adds that she keeps thinking if Everett hadn’t wanted her, none of this would’ve happened to Rafe. Stephanie assures her that this is not her fault. Jada feels the longer Rafe doesn’t wake up, the smaller the chances are that he’ll ever recover. Jada says she asked Kayla to give it to her straight up but now kind of wishes she hadn’t. Stephanie says she’s sorry and that they’ve all been praying for Rafe. Jada thanks her and says her support means everything to her. Stephanie asks if Jada has gotten any sleep or taken care of herself at all. Jada says she can’t and talks about being short staffed at the police station. Stephanie tells Jada that if she needs a shoulder to cry on, she has hers as they hug. Jada thanks Stephanie and apologizes again for leaving her with Everett’s ashes. Stephanie tells her it’s fine and to finally go be with Rafe. Stephanie adds that she’s there if Jada wants to grab a bite or just talk. Jada then exits as Leo arrives. Stephanie asks what he’s doing there. Leo informs her that since she’s doing PR for Body and Soul, he wrote up his own bio to save her the trouble. Stephanie tells Leo that the show’s fans don’t care about this and just want to be entertained. Leo then notices the urn which Stephanie confirms to him is Everett’s ashes. Leo refers to Everett as his former boss and asks Stephanie what she’s going to do with him.

“Abigail” questions Chad moving on with her cousin. Chad clarifies that it wasn’t right away. She tells him that he doesn’t owe her any explanation since he thought she was dead, so she has no reason to be upset, especially since she slept with both of his brothers. She mentions that she understands one of those times had to do with a mental health issue. Chad questions if EJ or Stefan told her about that, complaining that they knew he wanted to tell her so as not to overwhelm her, but she informs him that it was Gabi.

Gabi tells EJ that she thought she and Stefan had a great love for the ages, but he couldn’t even bother to stay faithful to her for a few months before jumping in to Ava’s bed. EJ remarks that Ava has a habit of ensnaring people who should know better, even seducing his son. Gabi argues that Johnny is a kid while Stefan should’ve known better. Gabi questions if EJ is defending Stefan. EJ assures that Stefan was a fool. Gabi calls that the sweetest thing he’s ever said to her. EJ clarifies that he meant Stefan was a fool to be with her in the first place. Gabi responds that she knows he resents her for blowing up his marriage, but deep down she thinks he knows she did him a favor. Gabi says he was delusional if he thought his marriage to Nicole would ever last since she’s loved Eric forever. Gabi feels EJ that the marriage was ending and she just helped it along.

Stefan questions Ava as to why Connie would pull the fire alarm. Ava responds that she just ran in to Connie outside of the Brady Pub and she got an urgent text from Gabi and she headed off in this right direction. Stefan admits Gabi has been petty and talks about how she was dividing the house in to halves. Stefan adds that pulling the fire alarm is a crime. Ava calls Connie a wackjob and says she has turned herself in to a total Gabi stan, so much so that she faked her entire resume to work with Gabi among other things.

Connie questions Melinda asking if she killed Li Shin in cold blood. Connie calls Li the love of her life. Melinda tries to say she didn’t mean it as Connie shouts that Melinda must have a death wish.

Chad asks “Abigail” what else Gabi told her. She says quite a lot actually as she apparently had dissociative identity disorder and named one after Gabi, adding that they were friends, enemies, and then frenemies. Chad says Gabi has a lot going on and suggests just staying away from her. Chad wants her to stay away from his entire family as they are all crazy and that’s why he doesn’t want her to stay here. She asks what the alternative is. Chad responds that he has an idea.

Stephanie tells Leo that she will have some type of service to lay Everett to rest. Stephanie talks about never thinking she’d have to plan a service like this. Leo tells her he’s sorry. Stephanie calls it weird as she doesn’t even know who would want to be there. Stephanie points out that Leo worked with Everett. Leo responds that funerals aren’t really his thing. Stephanie argues that there no one’s thing and Everett didn’t know anyone in Salem. Leo then asks what about Everett’s friend Connie.

Melinda apologizes to Connie and says she didn’t mean to upset her. Melinda says she was just thinking about true crime episodes and how her favorite ones are the ones that get away with it. Melinda says if Connie did kill Li and pin it on other people, it would be an accomplishment in it’s own way. Connie thanks her and says she is a very clever woman but no one has properly appreciated it. Melinda says she very much appreciates what she is capable of. Connie disagrees and asks if it ever occurred to Melinda that poisoning her tea wasn’t the only time she got away with something like that.

Ava tells Stefan that he didn’t hear it from her but fills him in on Melinda finding out about Connie’s lies and telling her she was going to fire her, but when she ran in to Connie, she said Melinda never showed up and she had no idea she was about to be fired. Stefan calls that odd. Ava adds that she just saw Kristen, who said Melinda just quit DiMera out of the blue. Stefan wonders why. Ava says she doesn’t care but it all seems a little bit weird.

Gabi tells EJ that they are quite a bit alike, smart and misunderstood. EJ says he could throw out some less flattering adjectives. Gabi suggests conniving, lying, and ruthless. Gabi tells EJ that deep down, all she ever wanted was to be loved and she thought she was but then Stefan screwed her over and now all she wants is revenge. Gabi is sure EJ feels the same about Nicole getting back with Eric. EJ says that’s enough. Gabi gets why EJ doesn’t want to give Nicole a divorce since she made him look like a fool and scampered off to Paris with Eric while there’s nothing EJ can do about it as he’s miserable and alone. Gabi feels EJ must be feeling so much pent up anger and aggression with no one to take it out on, but points out that he hates Stefan and he’s still here as she is. EJ asks what she is suggesting. Gabi says she thinks he knows.

Chad offers to put “Abigail” up in a room at the Salem Inn. She calls him wonderful and thanks him, but says she was in her apartment alone for so long, so she doesn’t want to live in a room again. She insists his family will be on their best behavior around her and it won’t be for long. Chad says okay if that’s what she really wants. She says it is and apologizes if she offended him. Chad says he will look out for her while she’s there. Chad adds that he will pack and tell his family what’s going on. Chad tells her to call him if she needs anything as he then exits the room.

Stephanie tells Leo that she didn’t know Everett had a friend named Connie as he never mentioned her. Leo says he didn’t either but he saw her coming out of Everett’s room after he got back from Bayview and she said they go way back. Leo adds that she is Gabi’s new assistant. Stephanie calls that interesting and wonders how she knew Everett.

Melinda questions her not being the first person that Connie poisoned and asks what happened to the other person, insisting it will be their little secret. Connie then informs her that Everett Lynch aka Bobby Stein was in her position and knew what happened to Li, so that’s why he had to die. Melinda points out that he died by suicide. Connie says that’s what she wanted people to believe. Connie warns that people in her way need to be careful, including Melinda. Connie adds that Li convinced her not to finish Melinda off, but things can always change.

Ava tells Stefan that she doesn’t know why she’s wasting her energy on Connie or Gabi when she needs to be finding another job. Stefan apologizes and says he knows he’s the one who betrayed his wedding vows but she’s the one who lost her job because of it. Stefan adds that he would have Ava back at the Bistro in a heartbeat but Gabi would never forgive him, not that he expects her too anyways. Ava understands that Stefan loves Gabi and wants her back. Stefan says it may seem impossible now but he’s not giving up.

EJ leans in towards Gabi, but tells her that she’s not his type. Gabi argues that they just figured out they are basically the same person and he’s not her type either but that’s not the point. Gabi says this is about Nicole and Eric and Ava and Stefan and getting out all those miserable feelings. Gabi asks EJ to help her hurt them, suggesting they use each other to stick it to them all.

Chad packs his bag and enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion. He looks around and then exits.

“Abigail” looks at a framed photo of Chad and Abigail in the bedroom.

Stephanie tells Leo that maybe she’ll reach out to Connie to be at the memorial to pay her respects.

Connie informs Melinda that Everett is also the reason that she had to stab Rafe. Melinda is shocked to learn that Connie is the one who put Rafe in a coma.

Jada sits at Rafe’s side in the hospital and tells him that she loves him as she asks him to please come back to them.

Ava walks past the Brady Pub and calls Melinda, leaving a message to call her back as she needs to talk to her about Connie.

Connie sees Ava calling Melinda’s phone and declares that she might be a problem.

Stefan goes to Gabi’s bedroom, knocking on the door to ask if they can talk. Stefan says she can pull the fire alarms and take him for all he’s worth but nothing that she does will make him stop loving her…

Gabi and EJ kiss in to his bedroom and onto the bed where they begin to undress.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Abby tried to convince Chad to go back to the Horton house for the kids. He agreed to move, but didn’t trust leaving her there with his family. She said she would be okay, but she didn’t want the kids to get jerked around anymore. He said he did that enough. Melinda tried to get free of the ropes. She flashed back to Connie pouring her tea while admitting that Gil didn’t stab Li. Melinda realized that Connie killed him. She tried to get free. Gabi thought about Connie’s suggestion to get back at Stefan. She texted Connie to do her a favor. Ava told Connie that the last time she saw Melinda she was on her way to fire her. Connie advised her not to spread gossip. Ava wasn’t concerned about her enough to talk about her. Connie received Gabi’s text and walked away. EJ told Stefan that Ava’s enemy is his best friend and that included Gabi. Gabi walked in while he was talking. She told Stefan that she informed Abby about him taking advantage of her when her alter was in control. Stefan was upset but got called away because the fire alarm went off at the Bistro. Connie texted Gabi to let her know that the job was done. Later on, Gabi finished talking on the phone with someone from the hospital. She found out there was no change in Rafe’s condition. EJ wished he could say sorry, but he couldn’t. He said they only have their hatred for Ava in common. EJ realized that he didn’t have to be a jerk about Rafe’s condition. He reminded her that she destroyed his marriage. Gabi told him that he sent her to prison for a crime she didn’t commit. He informed her that he became the DA because she tried to unseat him at DiMera Enterprises. She told him that Stefan made her think they could run the town.

Ava ran into Stefan at the square. He wondered who pulled the fire alarm at the Bistro. Since Gabi was with Stefan, Ava thought it might have been Connie. She said Connie would do anything for Gabi. Ava told him how she faked her resume to work for her. She told him that Melinda was going to fire Connie, but she had no idea she was getting fired. Ava told him that Melinda quit working for the company. It was weird, and Stefan agreed with her. She didn’t care anymore since she didn’t work there. Stefan would hire her, but Gabi wouldn’t forgive him. Connie went back to her apartment, and Melinda wondered if she killed Li. She was upset by the accusation. Connie considered getting away with her crime an accomplishment. She thanked her for reminding her that she got away with another crime. Connie killed Everett and stabbed Rafe. Jada ran into Leo, and they talked about Everett’s ashes. She wanted to give them to Stephanie in case she wanted a service. Jada wasn’t sure who would come because he didn’t really know anyone. Leo wondered if Connie would go since he knew her. Jada was surprised by that. He said he saw her come out of his room at the Salem Inn. Ava left a message for Melinda to call her back. Connie saw the message and realized she might be a problem. Chad mentioned that he got involved with Stephanie. Abby assured him that she wasn’t upset about him being with her. She mentioned how she slept with his brothers. Chad was upset that Gabi told her about what happened with Stefan. He wanted her to stay away from Gabi and his family. Chad wanted her to stay at the Salem Inn, but she didn’t want to be alone. Abby felt like the mansion was the best place for her. Gabi and EJ continued to argue. She reminded him that Eric and Nicole were in France while Stefan was still in Salem. One thing led to another, and they began flirting with each other. They decided to use each other to get out their frustrations. EJ and Gabi made their way upstairs. Stefan went up to Gabi’s room to knock on her door. She didn’t answer it because she was in her room with EJ.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

You’re saying you want me to move out?

You need to be with your kids, our kids. They miss you.

Yeah, but–

Look, we agreed, right? It doesn’t make any sense to have their amnesiac mother thrust back into their life. But it’s not fair if they have to see you split your focus between them and me.

OK. Yeah, I see your point. All right. Well, if I leave, what are you going to do?

I–

[sighs] If your family doesn’t have a problem with it, I’ll just stay here.

No. No, no, no, no. I don’t like that idea. Mm-mm.

[upbeat electronic music]

– * Love is a stranger *

* Love is a stranger *

[knocking on door]

[music stops]

Jada, h.

Hi.

Come in.

Sorry to just drop by like this.

No! No, it’s fine. Have you eaten? Do you want a glass of wine?

Oh, thanks, but I can’t stay long. I just wanted to drop this off.

[soft somber music] It’s Everett’s ashes.

[panting] Come on. Come on. Break! I gotta get away from that lunatic before I become a lunatic and keep talking to a dead person. Man, if you were only alive, so you could actually do something useful. But, no, you had to go and get stabbed. I had no idea you had such strong feelings for Li.

Why else would I move into this place? I wanted to feel close to him. Here, have some more tea.

[mysterious music]

Thank you.

It really is a great space, huh? And an even better base of operations.

Operations for what?

For getting revenge, of course.

Revenge?

Yes, for Li’s death. It was Gabi’s fault that Li was killed. And yours.

What? Mine? I–

You know, I didn’t know if this would work, but you actually bought my little apology.

The only person that is to blame for Li’s death is Gil Carter, the man who stabbed him.

Gil Carter didn’t stab Li, silly.

What? And what do you– Oh, my god. I was so strung out on that poisoned tea, I completely forgot that Connie said that. What the hell did she mean?

[heavy breathing]

I’m glad Gabi made Kristen fire you. You don’t deserve to work at DiMera.

Oh, that is some loyalty coming from someone they just let go.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m gainfully employed.

Uh, no, last time I saw Melinda, she was on her way over to your apartment to give you the axe.

What? Why would she want to fire me?

Oh, I don’t know. Maybe because she found out your whole resume was a lie.

Well, that’s ridiculous. Besides, Melinda never came to see me. I don’t know what you’re talking about. And if you continue to spread libelous claims about me–

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you’ll sue me. I know. I know. Melinda told me all about your litigious history.

That’s not what I was going to say.

But you obviously have an affinity for Ava that neither Gabi nor I share, nor understand, for that matter.

I don’t owe you an explanation, EJ. That’s for sure.

No, you don’t. But know this. Any enemy of Ava is a friend of mine, which means that Gabi is my new BFF.

[suspenseful music]

[gulps, exhales]

– After what he did to you? An eye for an eye, am I right? In fact, since he cheated on you with Ava, you should sleep with someone else, too.

[suspenseful music]

– So? Spit it out, Connie. What were you gonna say?

Don’t go around gossiping about me, and it won’t matter.

Don’t worry. I don’t care about you or Gabi enough to even bother talking about either of you.

[phone beeps]

My boss needs me to take care of something. Toodles.

“Toodles”?

[dramatic music]

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

It’s not that I don’t want you here. That’s–

[stammers] My family is nuts. When I walked in, there was duct tape across the living room. Did you see that?

Yes. Apparently, Gabi and Stefan are having some kind of marital disagreement.

Yeah, right. And my family handles disagreements in very weird ways. They’re dangerous, OK? And I don’t want to leave you alone with them, so–

Is that the reason you’re worried?

Why else would I be worried?

Because I slept with both Stefan and EJ. Are you afraid that’s gonna happen again?

Any enemy of Ava’s is a friend of yours? Really, EJ? Even Gabi?

Yes, Stefan, even Gabi.

Cut the crap. You hate Gabi with the heat of a thousand burning suns.

Ah, but he hates Ava even more. And congratulations, EJ, on coming down to the right side of history. And as we all know, history is written by the winners.

What exactly are you planning on winning?

Everything, except you, of course. Oh, and you might want to steer clear of Abigail, since now she knows all about you.

Knows all about what, exactly?

Just that you took advantage of her in a compromised mental state. I filled her in on all the details.

Gabi, you know damn well Chad did not want her to know.

To what? To be traumatized by the truth? Well, I think she has a right to know that she’s living under the same roof as a man who violated her. Although, she won’t be for long once my lawyer kicks you to the curb.

Gabi, please listen.

Stay behind your line.

This is insane!

[phone ringing]

[phone beeps] Stefan DiMera. What? I’ll be right there.

[phone beeps] Fire alarm went off at the Bistro. I need to go.

[tense music]

[fire alarm blaring]

[exhales deeply] Everett’s ashes.

Yeah, I was on my way to visit Rafe and the funeral home called me to pick it up. I hate to put this on you.

No, no, no. No, no. It’s fine, it’s fine. You and Everett were divorced. It’s not like it should be your responsibility, especially after what he did to Rafe. Don’t worry. I will take care of it.

Thank you.

How are you doing? It seems like you’ve been so busy at work and then trying to find time to visit Rafe.

Yeah, it’s– it’s been a week. I don’t know, I thought that after this break in the Sarah Kiriakis case, that I would feel better.

Do you know who did it?

Brady Black turned himself in.

What? Brady Black?

Mm-hmm. Yeah, he’s booked and processed, except, the only thing is, he doesn’t remember anything from that night. I don’t know. I have a feeling that there’s something that I’m missing.

Connie said that Gil Carter didn’t stab you. But if he didn’t, who the hell did?

Here comes the airplane.

No, get that drug-laced slop away from me!

I slaved away making this slop for you. Fine, starve. See if I care. The only reason I kept you alive was because Li asked me to. I’m trying. You see that, right?

Li’s dead, you psycho!

And whose fault is that? Yours, and Gabi’s, and Stefan’s. If it weren’t for the three of you, I never would have had to–

You never would have what?

Oh, my god. Did she kill you? She did, didn’t she? I gotta get out of here before she does the same thing to me.

[intense music]

I know you said you’d call me if there was any change, but I just wanted to check. OK. I’ll be by to see him in the morning.

[inhales, sighs] Any news on Rafe?

No, nothing.

Oh, well, I wish I could say I’m sorry, but–

Wow. That was a low, even for you. You don’t have to be a total jerk about my comatose brother just to prove that we don’t see eye to eye on anything, except Ava fricking Vitali.

Oh, you think that’s my only gripe with you? Has it slipped your simple little mind that you destroyed my marriage, my life?

Because you kept little Jude Brady from his real dad? And because you sent me to prison for a crime I didn’t commit. Talk about destroying lives.

And the only reason that I became DA and that I was in a position to send you to prison was because you unseated me as CEO of DiMera.

And that was because back then, Stefan had me convinced we would run this town.

[cackles]

Hell, run the whole world. And God help anyone who got in our way. We all know how that turned out. – No, no, no. It’s a false alarm, right? OK, so you don’t need to come. Thank you. Hey.

Hey, Stefan. You OK? You seem a little upset.

Smoke alarm went off at the Bistro. Now the fire department says that somebody pulled it on purpose. Now, this isn’t a middle school where kids are trying to weasel out of an algebra test. So tell me, who would want to spoil dinner, let alone my evening?

Oh, I can think of one person who would like to spoil your evening and every evening for the rest of your life.

No, no, no. Uh-uh. I was with Gabi when I got the call.

OK, so maybe it was her assistant, Connie.

[breathing heavily]

[door opens]

What are you doing?

I’m just… trying to scratch an itch.

Huh. Seems like everyone has a itch that needs scratching today.

What do you mean?

Well, let’s just say, I gave Gabi some sage itch-scratching advice. And when she takes it, it’ll be the final nail in the coffin of her marriage.

I see. And that’ll make you happy?

Very.

And that’s because you hate Gabi and Stefan both. You blame them for Li’s murder.

Well, why wouldn’t I blame them? It was their fault and yours.

You know that I didn’t stab Li, right? And neither did Gabi, and neither did Stefan.

Well, not technically, but still.

[sighs] Yeah, I just remembered. You told me that Gil Carter didn’t do it either.

Yeah, so?

Well, I’m just– I’m just wondering. I mean, how would you know that? Unless you’re the one who did it. Unless you’re the one who murdered Li.

[tense music]

No, I don’t think anything’s gonna happen between you and EJ, or you and Stefan.

Even after their relationships just imploded.

No, that’s not it. I don’t want you in a house full of strangers who I don’t think have your best interests at heart. That’s why.

Chad, everyone’s a stranger to me right now. And we are not going to be apart forever. It’s just until my memories come back. OK? It’s not gonna be that long. But the last thing that I want to do is jerk those children around after everything that they’ve been through.

Yeah, I know. I don’t–I don’t–I don’t– I don’t want to put them through any of that either, especially after what I already put them through.

After what you put them through?

Yeah.

What?

I was gonna try to– I was gonna wait to say something, but I guess I don’t know when– there’s never really a right time but… um… when I believed that you were dead, um, I, uh– I made the mistake of thinking that I was ready to move on. And I, uh, I moved in with a woman, and the kids got attached to her. And then we broke up, and the kids were heartbroken. And I don’t want to put them through anything like that again, so.

[softly] Oh. I’m…sorry, Chad.

No, I’m sorry. Again, I– not how I wanted you to find out, but, uh– and it was with– it was your cousin, Stephanie.

Are you saying that you don’t think Brady’s guilty?

I don’t know. I mean, the evidence against him is strong. I don’t know. Something’s just not sitting right with me. You know, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I should not be talking to you about this. I’m just–I’m so used to, you know, going home and hashing things out with Rafe. But now I am alone in his home, trying to do his job.

And you’re doing it so well.

[sighs] I just don’t want to disappoint him and let him down.

[soft music] I just keep thinking that if Everett hadn’t wanted me, none of this would have happened to Rafe.

Jada, it is not your fault. You know that.

I guess. Did you know that the longer that he doesn’t wake up, the longer– well, the smaller his chances are that he’d ever recover?

Is that what the doctors say?

Yeah. I asked your mom to give it to me straight up. And now I kind of wish I hadn’t.

I’m so sorry. We have all been praying for him, Jada.

I know. Thank you. Your support means everything to me.

Are you getting enough sleep? Are you able to find time to take care of yourself at all?

I can’t. We’re very short-staffed at the station. And Paulina’s been great. You know, she told me that she would give me some more help and reinforcements. But I just–

You just– you need a shoulder to cry on. You’ve got mine.

Thank you, Stephanie. And again, I am sorry to leave you with this.

God, no, no. It’s fine. It’s fine. Just go be with Rafe. I will handle it. And you know what? If you have time to grab a bite or you just want to talk…

Thank you. Hello, Leo. Goodbye, Leo.

Was it something I said?

She was just on her way out.

Oh.

What are you doing here?

Oh, I guess we’re dispensing with the niceties and cutting straight to the chase. OK. I understand you are doing PR for “Body and Soul.” So I took it upon myself to write up my bio for the press release. Thought I’d save you the trouble.

Hmm. “A Rhodes scholar”?

I briefly attended Rhodes College after– whoa, whoa, whoa, wait. Technically, that’s true.

[scoffs] “Multi-award winning journalist”?

I am a journalist who has won many awards in his life, starting with perfect attendance in third grade.

OK, Leo, nothing against Lady Whistleblower. We all love her–you– but the show’s fans, they don’t care about any of this. They just want to be entertained.

Maybe. Will you at least leave in the part where I talk about how I saved the world from doom and destruction?

[sighs]

Is that what I think it is?

It’s an urn. Everett’s ashes.

Eesh. My former boss is in that container.

[soft emotional music] What are you gonna do with him?

So you moved on with my cousin?

Yeah, but not–not–not– not right away. I mean, it was months before I even thought that I’d be ready to date again.

No, no, no, Chad. Chad, please. You do not owe me any explanations. You thought I was dead. I have no reason to be upset, especially not knowing that I had slept with both of your brothers, even if one of them wasn’t exactly consensual. I know, with Stefan, that I had a mental health concern or something.

Who told you that? Was it EJ?

[sighs]

Was it Stefan? They knew that I wanted to be the one to say that to you, because I didn’t want you to feel overwhelmed. I’m–I’m–I’m sorry, they–

Chad, no, no, no, no. Listen. Thank you. It wasn’t your brothers. It was not your brothers. It was Gabi. – Silly me. I thought Stefan and I had this great love, one for the ages. A love so great that he sacrificed his freedom and future to try to protect me while I was in prison. Little did I know, he couldn’t even bother to stay faithful to me for a few months before he jumped into Ava Vitali’s bed.

Ava has a habit of ensnaring people who should know better. Even managed to seduce my son.

But Johnny is a kid. Stefan should have known better. Wait. Surely you’re not defending your brother.

Certainly not. Stefan was a fool.

To cheat on me? Oh, that is the sweetest thing you’ve ever said to me.

I meant he was a fool to be with you in the first place.

You know what, EJ? I get that you resent me for blowing up your marriage, but deep down, I think you know I did you a favor.

[tense music]

A favor?

Oh, come on. You were deluded if you thought you and Nicole were ever going to last. She’s loved Eric forever. Your marriage was over from the beginning. I just hastened things along.

Her assistant, Connie? OK, why– why would Gabi’s assistant pull the fire alarm?

Well, I just ran into Connie outside of the Brady Pub and she got a text from Gabi. It was some urgent errand she needed to run. She headed off in this direction, and here we are.

So what would Gabi have to accomplish? Although, she is being pretty petty. When I left the house, she was dividing it into his and her halves.

[laughs] Well, maybe she really wanted you out of the house so she didn’t have to look at you anymore.

OK, be that as it may, pulling a fire alarm is a crime, and if Connie did this–

OK, look, Connie is a total whack job, OK? I mean, not to mention that she is so loyal to Gabi, she felt it was her duty to tell her that you and I slept together. She has turned herself into a total Gabi stan. So much so that she even– you know? Mm-mm. Nope.

So much so that she even what?

She faked her entire resume so she could work with her, among other things.

Are you seriously asking if I killed Li Shin in cold blood? The love of my life? Did you hear this? Talk about gall!

Never mind. I–I didn’t mean it.

This woman must have a death wish!

[tense music]

What else did she tell you?

Uh, quite a lot, actually. Um… apparently, I had dissociative identity disorder. I named one of my alters after her. We were friends at one time. And then we were enemies. And then by the end, we were frenemies.

Yeah, OK. Look, uh– Gabi’s got a lot going on right now. I mean, honestly, Gabi always has a lot going on, so I think you should probably just stay away from her. You know? And it’s probably best just to stay out of her and Stefan’s rift right now. Actually, in fact, you should stay out of EJ and Stefan’s rift, too. You know what? Just stay away from my entire family. Because my sister, Kristen, she’s crazy. She requires an instruction manual.

OK. You know, I mean, I’ve always known that the uber-rich, like, live by their own set of rules, but wow.

Right. That’s what I’m saying. So that’s why I don’t want you to stay here.

OK. OK. Well, if I’m not gonna stay here and I’m not moving in with you, what is our alternative?

[soft music]

I have an idea, actually.

I guess I’ll have some type of service to lay Everett to rest. It’s funny; I always knew the type of wedding I’d have wanted, but I never thought I’d have to plan a service like this.

I’m sorry, Stephanie.

Thanks. It’s–it’s weird. I–I don’t even know who’d want to be there. I mean, you worked with him.

Yeah. But funerals aren’t really my thing.

They’re no one’s thing. But he didn’t know anyone in Salem.

[sighs] What about his friend Connie?

I’m sorry, Connie. I didn’t mean to upset you. I was just thinking about those true crime podcasts that we’ve been listening to. Aren’t your favorite episodes the ones where the people get away with it?

I do like those.

Yeah, so I–I was thinking, if you did kill Li and pinned it on someone else, multiple someone elses, that would be a considerable accomplishment, isn’t it, in its own special kind of way?

Thank you.

Yeah.

I am a very clever woman.

Mm-hmm.

Not that anyone’s ever properly appreciated it.

Oh, I do. I very much appreciate what you’re capable of.

Not fully. I mean, when you figured out that I drugged your tea, did it ever occur to you that that wasn’t the only time I’d gotten away with something like that?

Look, you didn’t hear any of this from me, OK?

OK.

All right. But Melinda told me the other day that she was headed on over to Connie’s apartment to fire her. She was gonna get the laptop and the badge back. But when I just ran into Connie at the Pub, she said that Melinda never showed up at her apartment, she had no idea she was about to be fired.

That’s odd.

Yeah, right? And I just saw Kristen. And she said that Melinda just quit DiMera.

Why?

I don’t know. Kristen didn’t know. She said it just came like it was out of the blue.

Uh, I don’t know, maybe… Melinda didn’t want the hassle of firing Connie, so she left?

Yeah, maybe. Look, it’s not like I care. But this all seems a little bit weird, don’t you think?

Yeah.

You and I are quite a bit alike, EJ. Smart, misunderstood.

Oh, I could throw out a few other less flattering adjectives.

Sure.

Mm.

Like, conniving, lying, ruthless, right? Truth is, speaking for myself, that is, that deep down, all I’ve ever wanted is to be loved. And I thought I was. But then Stefan screwed me over, and now all I want is revenge. And I’m sure you feel the same way about Nicole. She got back together with Eric, what, like two seconds after they found out that Jude was their son? After she told you over and over again that–

OK, that’s enough.

Believe me. I get why you don’t want to give her a divorce. She made you look like a fool. And now she and Eric have scampered off to Paris together. And there is nothing you can do about it but let them be a happy little family while you’re here, miserable and alone. God, you must be feeling so much pent-up frustration, all that pain and anger, and nobody to take it out on. But you also hate Stefan, and he’s still here.

As am I.

What are you suggesting?

I think you know.

[dramatic flourish]

Well, obviously, it’s not the best thing for you to be at the Horton house. So why don’t I put you up in a room at the Salem Inn?

[sighs] You’re so wonderful. Thank you. I just– to be honest, I–I was in my apartment alone for God knows how long. And I don’t want to live in a room by myself again. Surely your family will be on their best behavior, at least around me. And it won’t be for that long.

[soft tense music]

OK. If that’s–if that’s really what you want.

It is. Did I offend you? I’m sorry.

No, what are you doing? You don’t– you don’t owe me an apology. I’ll look out for you while you’re here. I’ll go pack and tell my family what’s going on.

OK. Thank you.

Call me if you need anything. If I don’t hear from you, I’ll try you in the morning.

OK.

[sighs, sniffles]

I didn’t know Everett had a friend named Connie. I never heard him mention it.

Well, neither did I, but I saw her coming out of his room after he got out of Bayview. And I asked who she was and she said that she and Everett went way back. I didn’t know it at the time but she said that her name was Connie Vininski. And she’s Gabi’s new assistant.

Huh. That’s interesting. Wonder how she knew Everett.

So I’m not the first person you’ve poisoned. Um… what happened to the other person? Look, you can tell me. It’ll be like our own little secret.

Everett Lynch, AKA Bobby Stein. He was in your position once upon a time. He knew what happened to Li. And that’s why he had to die.

I thought he died by suicide.

Well, that’s what I wanted people to believe. Suffice it to say, people that stand in my way need to be very careful. That includes you. Li here convinced me not to finish you off, but things can always change.

You know, I don’t know why I’m wasting any of my energy worrying about crazy Connie Vininski. You know what, or Gabi, for that matter, when what I really need to be worrying about is finding a job.

Yeah. Ava, look, I’m sorry. I know I’m the one who betrayed his wedding vows, but you’re the one who lost her job because of what we did. And please know, I would have you back at the Bistro in a heartbeat. Gabi would never forgive me.

[chuckles]

Not that I really expect her to do that, anyway.

Yeah, well, I get it. I do. You love her. You want her back.

I do. It may seem impossible now, but, um, I am not giving up.

[tense music]

You are not my type, Gabi.

[scoffs, chuckles] Oh, please. Didn’t we just figure out we’re basically the same person? And besides, who cares if I’m your type? You’re not mine, either. That’s not the point. This is about Nicole and Eric and Ava and Stefan, and getting out all those pesky, miserable feelings. You know what they say about that very fine line? Help me hurt him, EJ. Let’s use each other to stick it to them all.

[soft tense music]

[sighs]

You know, maybe I’ll reach out to this Connie person. Maybe she’ll want to be at the memorial and pay her respects.

OK, that sounds like a plan.

Everett is also the reason I had to stab the commissioner.

What? You’re the one who put Rafe Hernandez in a coma?

[dramatic music]

Rafe, I love you. Please come back to us.

[emotional music]

[phone beeps]

Hey, Melinda, it’s Ava. Call me back when you get this. I need to talk to you about Connie.

[dark music]

[phone beeps]

It’s your friend Ava. She might be a problem.

Gabi, can we talk, please?

[sighs] All right, look… you can pull all the smoke alarms you want, you can tape up the entire house, take me for all I’m worth, OK? But nothing that you do will make me stop loving you.

[dramatic music]

Recap written by Suzanne

Luna tries to give Steffy some water, but Steffy won’t eat or drink anything for fear that it’s poisoned or drugged. Luna says that it’s been “days” since Steffy had anything to eat our drink.  Luna leaves, taunting Steffy that she’s going to spend time with Bill. Steffy yells, to no avail. She looks way more desperate, weak and discouraged.

Bill and Luna chat at home. They both talk about their respective visits with Poppy in jail. Luna whines to Bill about how upset she’s been, so they hug.

At work, Finn talks to Steffy’s picture, wondering where she is. Flavia from Monte Carlo phones and tells him that Steffy never made it there to her clinic (I assume it’s like a spa). Finn is now concerned. He visits Bill. He doesn’t mention the clinic, but they catch up on what’s been going on with him and Steffy. He says that Liam and Bill were the last to see Steffy. Bill has no clue as to where Steffy went. Luna returns just then, asking Bill if he wants to join her for a swim, surprising Finn. Bill reminds him that Luna is staying there. She asks Bill to help her with the TV in her room, so Bill goes with her. Finn looks a bit suspicious, but his main focus is worrying about Steffy.

We see many flashbacks to Steffy and Finn.

RJ and Ridge chat about how Steffy hasn’t been testing or answering phone calls. Ridge is getting very worried. They joke around, briefly, about Ridge being over-protective with his kids. RJ is concerned about Luna because she’s been distant lately and seems to only be interested in spending time with Bill. They both clearly think this is odd.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Chad left a message for Abby telling her that he tucked the kids in. Thomas came up to him and asked him about his phone call. Abby called Mark and told him that Chad bought her story that she was just asking him for directions. Mark said she’d be in trouble if Chad didn’t believe it. Felicity showed up giving Mark a strange look. Kristen read about what happened to Brady online. She didn’t think it had to be that way because she had his back. Ava arrived and reminded her that she didn’t have her back. Kristen couldn’t believe Ava was still mad at her because she fired her after Gabi’s ultimatum. She apologized and meant it. Ava didn’t care. She didn’t have a job anymore, and Gabi was coming after her. Kristen said that she should have thought about it before she slept with Stefan. Connie read Melinda’s text messages from Kristen. Melinda woke up and realized she was tied to a bed. She struggled to get free and noticed the cardboard cutout of Li. Connie brought food to Melinda, and she ended up screaming. She warned Melinda that the walls were soundproof. Connie tried to free her, but Melinda refused. She reminded Melinda that she was only alive because Li asked her not to kill her. Melinda told her that Li was dead and called her a psycho. Connie blamed Melinda, Gabi and Stefan for the way Li treated her. EJ noticed Gabi redecorated the mansion. Stefan blamed him for saying that Gabi could stay there. She’s determined to take everything he has. EJ reminded him that the place belonged to him too, so she wouldn’t be able to take half of it. They ended up arguing, and EJ told him that he shouldn’t have slept with Ava. Stefan demanded that EJ stay out of it. EJ reminded him that he and Ava tried to kill his mother. Felicity wanted to know who was in trouble. Mark told her about Aaron lying about lacrosse camp. He talked to her about what happened when Aaron lied to him. Felicity wanted to know what happens when Mark lies. He implied that he never lies. Felicity wished their parents didn’t die in the car accident. Mark wished that were too.

Ava and Kristen continued to argue at the pub. Kristen received a text message from “Melinda” informing her that she needed a break. She responded back to her. Connie texted that she wouldn’t take orders from a woman who murdered her daughter. She made it seem like Melinda wanted to quit. Kristen was confused by her reaction since they squared their issues before she hired Melinda. Ava was shocked too because Melinda talked to her about that too, and she wanted to put the company first. She flashed back to Melinda telling her about Connie being a fraud. Kristen wondered what she was talking about. Ava said it was the DiMeras’ problem since shew as fired. Melinda tried to appeal to Connie, but she left her alone with the cutout Li. Gabi introduced herself to Abby. Abby was sorry about her marital problems. Gabi explained their relationship to her. Abby wondered if it was because she slept with her husband. Gabi told her that wasn’t why since that happened before she got together with Stefan. She told her about Abby having D.I.D., so she wasn’t responsible for sleeping with Stefan. It was technically rape. Gabi wondered if she could use that in her divorce case. Chad told Thomas that he was talking to someone at work. Thomas sensed something was wrong with Chad. He wanted him to tell the truth. Chad lied to him about what happened. He told him an old friend had an accident, and she was staying at the DiMera mansion. Chad said he was staying there too. Connie arrived at the DiMera mansion with a file for Gabi’s meeting. Gabi almost forgot because of everything going on with Stefan and Ava. Connie thought she should cheat since Stefan did that to her. After Connie left, Gabi overheard EJ asking Stefan about having feelings for Ava. Stefan denied having feelings for her. Any enemy of Ava’s was a friend of EJ’s. He said Gabi is his new best friend. Ava and Connie ran into each other, and she assumed she was fired. Connie was confused by what she meant. Ava told her that Melinda was on her way to her place to fire her. Connie glowered at her while she was talking.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Brady ran into Tate and Holly at the hospital. They were there because Tate got in an accident at the beach on Smith Island. Brady was shocked to see Tate on crutches and with Holly. Tate confessed about staying at the cabin instead of going to lacrosse camp. Maggie told Sarah it was okay to be angry about the accident. Sarah said Xander was angry for the both of them and asked her how she dealt with not being able to walk. Maggie told her she learned to live a new normal and suggested that Sarah not give up. Jada told Xander that they had a suspect, but she couldn’t tell him the name. Xander demanded to know who it was. Jada said she understood that he was upset, but she was going to find the person who hit Sarah. Xander apologized for his reaction. Jada said she had to talk to the DA, but he would know something soon. At the DiMera mansion, Kristen told Stefano’s painting that Brady’s car was flat as a pancake. She said she did what she had to to protect her family. EJ walked in and wondered what she did. She said she protected the family legacy by firing Ava because of Gabi. EJ didn’t believe her and suggested that she not talk about her plans to Stefano’s painting. Marlena told John that Brady’s car was stolen, but Jada was trying to piece together a timeline. John thought Jada was connecting it to Sarah’s accident. Marlena said Brady would never hit Sarah and run away unless he was drinking. Brady asked Holly to leave him and Tate alone so they could talk. Tate asked if Brady ever lied because he was scared of how someone would react. Brady flashed back to Kristen telling him she got rid of his car. When Xander showed up, Tate apologized for what happened to Sarah. Xander said the police might have a suspect.

Sarah opened up to Maggie about not being able to keep up with Victoria when Holly came in. Holly said she and Tate was staying at the Horton Cabin. She said she used Maggie’s key to let him in the cabin. Maggie said that was why she couldn’t find the key that night. Holly wondered what night she was talking about. Maggie said Sarah was coming home to help find the key so she and Xander could go on their honeymoon, but she got hit by a car. Holly realized it was the accident was her fault. Sarah let her know that it wasn’t her fault. Holly ran out of the room. EJ assumed Kristen was plotting for Brady. Jada showed up at the mansion so she could talk to EJ about Sarah’s accident. Kristen left the room but eavesdropped on their conversation. Jada told EJ that she connected a car with the accident, but the owner said the car was stolen. Unfortunately without the car, they didn’t have proof. She asked if he wanted to indict anyway. EJ wanted to know who the suspect was. Jada told her it was Brady. EJ told her to arrest him. He let Jada know that his beef with Brady wasn’t a factor and believed he could get a conviction. When Jada went to the door, Kristen asked if she had any leads. Jada said she knew she was eavesdropping and asked if she knew anything. Kristen said she didn’t know anything and walked away. While Tate was pleading his case to Brady, Kristen sent him a text to run because the police were about to arrest him. Brady told Tate he had something to do and left. Holly ran into Tate who told her how weird his father was acting. She told him that they were responsible for Sarah’s accident. When Kristen went back to see EJ, he told her Brady was being arrested for Sarah’s accident. He said he had a feeling she knew that already. At the police station, she called for a search warrant for Brady. Brady showed up and said she didn’t need it.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Jada went to the townhouse to see Brady’s car. Brady wondered why she wanted to see it. She said it matched the description of the car that hit Sarah and they had a partial plate. When she asked to see the car, he told her it was stolen. Kristen saw Chad looking at pictures of Abby and asked where was the woman who claimed to be Abby. Chad said she was Abby and she remembered Clyde stabbing her. Kristen wondered if it was a real memory or if she was a fraud. Chad said the DNA test proved she was a match for Abby. Kristen apologized and said she was trying to protect him. She left the room. Abby met Dr. Green in the park. She told him the mansion was like a mausoleum with a lot of DiMera eyes on her. Since Chad looked at her like a puppy dog, she threw him a bone and said she remembered the night Abby was murdered. Mark said she did the right thing. Abby said she didn’t have a choice, but now she had to keep remembering things if they wanted people to believe that she’s Abby. She thanked him for changing the DNA results and said they made a great team.

Xander told Fiona that the police had a partial license plate and would hopefully find the person who hit Sarah. When Xander talked about Sarah never walking again, Fiona asked if it would change the way he felt about Sarah. Xander said he loved her more than he thought he could love anyone and nothing was going to change that. He was afraid he wasn’t going to be the man she needed to get her through this. Fiona assured him he was strong enough to handle it and was there to help after everything she has done. Xander wondered what she meant by that. She covered by saying she wasn’t there for him when he needed her. Brady lied and told Jada that his car was stolen on the morning of the 14th, the day Sarah was hit. He said he remembered that because it kept him from going to a meeting he had at Basic Black. Brady said he didn’t report it because he was slammed at work covering for Xander. Jada said the person who stole the car could have been the one who hit Sarah. She suggested he file a report at the station. Mark told Abby they needed to talk about the next part of their plan. Before they could talk, Chad showed up. Abby lied and said she was asking him for directions. When Mark left, Chad wanted Abby to talk about the night she was stabbed because it could spark memories. Marlena found Marlena taking pictures of the empty parking space. Jada said Brady told her the car was stolen. She asked Marlena when was the last time she saw the car. Marlena said she saw the car the night of the 14th, but she didn’t see Brady. Kristen showed up to see Brady at the townhouse. She told him she took his car after she saw the damage to his front bumper. Since he looked bad the night she saw him, she figured he was the one who hit Sarah. She said she got rid of the car because it would kill Rachel to see him in prison. Brady said the police had a partial plate. Kristen said without the car, Jada didn’t have anything. She told him to remain calm and do what he would normally do. Brady wondered what you would normally do when you hit a family member. She told him to visit Sarah and offer compassion. Brady said he was responsible for Sarah’s condition. Kristen said Theresa wasn’t worth throwing his life away and suggested he get sober and get his life together. She said she would help him for Rachel. When Chad asked Abby about the robe she was wearing when she was killed, she wanted to know if he didn’t believe her. Chad said a lot of people knew the story. Abby reminded him that he was the one who came to her not the other way around. She said she was doing the best she could and if it wasn’t enough, she could go back where she was. Chad apologized and said the stress was getting to him. He said he didn’t care what anyone thought because he was happy that she was back.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Holly talked to Tate about them being indirectly responsible for Sarah’s accident. Tate felt like the only one responsible for the accident was the person who hit her and left without helping her. Fiona confessed to Victoria what she did to Sarah as Justin approached her. He reintroduced himself to her as Victor’s nephew. They talked about what happened to Sarah, and he hoped the police found the person who hit her. She hoped they did too. John looked at the phone waiting for Brady’s call. Marlena felt like they were jumping to conclusions about Brady involvement in Sarah’s accident. He didn’t know what to think. Brady arrived at the police station to make a confession to Jada. He told her that he was driving the car that hit Sarah. Brady wanted to tell her because he had to set a good example for his son. The guilt was eating away at him. Jada stopped him from talking and advised him to call his lawyer. Sarah was ready to get released. Xander suggested to her that they move into the Kiriakis mansion because it’s wheelchair accessible and an elevator. She would also have a full staff and Maggie to help her. He wondered if it would be okay if Fiona moved in with them. Sarah was okay with it. Justin thanked Fiona for giving him back his son. She dismissed it and said she wanted to set the record straight. He told her that Brady turned himself in for Sarah’s accident. Fiona darted her eyes while he was talking.

Tate told Holly that his father was distracted. He didn’t even think he was in trouble. They had their problems, but that didn’t mean he wanted his relationship with his father to end. He needed him. Holly wanted to go home with him and face it together. After his conversation with Paul, John told Marlena that he said Brady wasn’t drinking. He said that he saw Brady pour himself a drink that he didn’t finish. Marlena didn’t think one misstep didn’t mean he fell off the wagon. Justin met with Brady in the interrogation room. He wanted to know everything that happened the night of the accident. Brady told him that he didn’t know because he was drunk. Justin sighed after hearing what he said. Brady assumed he hit her on his way home from a bar. He remembered waking up in the driver’s seat with a splitting headache. Brady noticed the damage to his front fender. Justin said he didn’t know for sure that he did anything wrong. Jada called Xander to let him know they had a suspect in custody. He demanded to know the person’s name. John was about to leave to look for Brady when Tate arrived on crutches with Holly. He confessed everything to John and Marlena. Tate told them that Brady seemed distracted, so he took off. John received a call from someone, and he was surprised. Brady felt like he was guilty because the evidence pointed to him. Justin advised him not to make a full confession. He thought he should stick with the facts and nothing more. Justin thought a jury could decide if he was guilty or not. Brady didn’t see a point in fighting it. He thought there was no excuse for what he did and wanted to make things right. John got off the phone and told Marlena, Tate and Holly that Brady was the one who hit Sarah. Xander arrived at the police station and demanded that Jada allow him to see Brady. Jada ordered him to go home, but he needed to know how Brady could drive off after hitting Sarah. He realized that Brady fell off the wagon. Jada confirmed that Brady was drinking. Xander barged into the interrogation room and grabbed Brady’s throat. Jada ran after him. Justin pulled Xander off Brady. Brady said he was sorry. Xander vowed that Brady would spend the rest of his life in prison.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[dramatic music]

Holly, I don’t understand. How could your Aunt Sarah’s accident be our fault?

She and Xander, they were headed to my family’s cabin for their honeymoon.

They were? Oh, my God, so they would have caught us there.

They would have, except they never made it. They were waiting in the square for my Grandma Maggie to bring them the key, but– but she couldn’t find it.

Because we took it.

Right. But they didn’t know that. So my Aunt Sarah decided to go help my grandmother look for the key that we had, Tate, and that’s when she got hit by the car.

How are you doing, Sarah?

Well, Mom gave me a really nice pep talk and inspired me to get out of this bed and start living my life.

But isn’t it a little soon for all that?

Well, I’m gonna need physical therapy, but medically speaking, there’s no reason for me to stay at the hospital.

OK, I’ll go ask about getting you released. And while I’m at it, I’ll see if there’s any word from Commissioner Hunter.

Baby.

Hopefully they’ve apprehended this suspect by now.

Baby, I think it’s best if you let Jada do her job. She will reach out when there’s news.

Fine. I’ll leave it alone for now. But when I find out who did this to you, there will be hell to pay.

I wish I could say that this iced tea is hitting the spot, but Granny here is used to something a wee bit stronger.

[baby coos] Ah, Victoria, my darling girl, you’re the only one I can confide in, because you don’t judge me.

No matter what I say to you, you just… look at me with love.

But even so, knowing that I’m the one responsible for your mother not being here with you now, for her lying in that hospital bed, possibly never able to walk again, knowing that… I have destroyed a young woman’s future, I’ve torn a hole in the hearts of the people that love her…

Fiona.

Damn it, Brady, come on. Call me back. This is driving me crazy, Doc. I’m telling you, I’m not gonna be relaxed till we clear this thing up.

[tense music]

John, I know that you’re worried. I am, too, but do you think we’re jumping to conclusions?

I don’t know. All I know is that in my mind, there’s only one reason Brady would lie to Jada about his car being supposedly stolen.

So do you think that–

He just ran over Sarah and took off? I don’t know. I don’t want to believe that, no. But I’m telling you, Doc, right now, it’s not looking good.

Never mind, it looks like I don’t need to execute that warrant after all. Thanks anyway.

So you want to tell me what you’re doing here?

[sighs] Should be obvious. I’m here to make a confession.

I was driving the car that hit Sarah Kiriakis.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[tense music]

So you were lying earlier.

I was. I was. You came to my door, and I panicked, and I wasn’t thinking straight.

So what made you come clean, hmm? Did Kristen tip you off about the warrant for your arrest?

No, Jada, I’m here because I– I’m here to set a good example for my son. I’m here to let him know that we all need to take responsibility for our actions.

On top of all of it, the guilt is eating me up, the fact that Sarah may not be able to walk again because of something stupid that I did. I got behind the wheel when I was drunk. That was stupid– no, no, “evil” is actually a better word for it. I was evil in this moment.

OK, stop. Stop right there, Brady. Don’t say another word, OK? We got to do this by the book. So before I take your official statement, I need to advise you to call your attorney.

[sighs]

[chuckles] I’m so sorry. Have we met?

I’m Justin Kiriakis, Victor’s nephew.

Yes, of course. You were at Alexander’s– well, his almost wedding.

I was just having a little chat with my granddaughter here. She’s my confidant.

Well, I bet she’s great to talk to– very understanding.

She is at that. And, oh, my goodness, how could I have not recognized you? You’re the one who was in possession of my letter to Victor.

Yes, that’s me. But I don’t think we were ever properly introduced.

Well, no. When I revealed Alexander’s true paternity, things did go a little sideways. But thankfully he’s forgiven me now and we’re on excellent terms. He even lets me watch the baby for him while he takes care of Sarah.

[sighs] So terrible, what happened to her.

Yeah. It’s dreadful.

Have you heard that the police have a partial plate? So I hope that that leads to the culprit being arrested.

[chuckles] Me too.

OK. Are you ready to get sprung from this joint? Because Kayla’s working on your release right now.

Oh, yay. Thank you for doing that. I can’t wait to get out of here.

Oh, I never would have guessed. Listen, while the two of you are getting ready for your departure, I’m gonna check with Fiona and see if she needs any help with Victoria. And you text me when you get home, darling, OK?

OK.

And I’ll bring the baby over.

Thanks, Mom. Mm.

Thank you, Xander, for everything.

It’s my pleasure to be bringing my wife home. I’ll see you later, Maggie.

Yeah. OK.

Hmm.

Take care.

And just so you know…

Mm.

Just because you’re coming home does not mean that I’m going to let you start pushing yourself too hard too soon. Yeah?

I don’t intend to. I just want to hang out with my husband and our daughter and sleep in my own bed– well, our bed.

Mm.

Mm.

Actually, speaking of our bed…

Mm-hmm.

Our home, I have a proposition for you, one that I think will make a real difference to your recovery.

[soft music]

Tate, if we hadn’t been lying and sneaking around, using the cabin without permission, then my Aunt Sarah would have never been in that accident. She wouldn’t be paralyzed right now.

Holly, look, that’s not how the world works, OK? So many factors came into play to put your Aunt Sarah in the wrong place at the wrong time.

[sighs] Yeah, I suppose.

Mm-hmm.

My aunt basically said the same thing you just did– not in so many words, but…

Wait, I’m sorry. You told her?

Kind of figured, since your dad caught us, I may as well come clean to my family too.

[sighs]

And then… once I realized our actions may have caused Sarah’s accident, I–

[dramatic music] I just ran out of the room, Tate. I didn’t know what to do. They tried to make me feel better.

I’m sorry. Look, it’s obviously horrible, what happened to Sarah, but the only person who’s to blame here is the person who hit her and then sped off without stopping to help.

John, it’s impossible to imagine Brady hitting Sarah with his car and then… leaving her there on the street, even if he were drinking.

Why is that so hard to imagine? I mean, to state the obvious, he would not be thinking clearly if he was drunk.

All right. But then what about when he sobered up and realized what had happened? Why didn’t he come forward then? Instead what he did, he tried to hide the car and cover everything up. That’s not our Brady.

No, I sure hope it’s not.

Let me back up a second.

Hmm?

You said that Paul talked to him because you had concerns about his sobriety.

Yes, and he told Paul that he was fine. He was–he was sober. He was even going to meetings.

That was before the accident with Sarah. I wonder if Brady told his brother something else that might shine a little light on this situation here. Let’s see what Paul has to say.

[exhales heavily]

You want to move back into the mansion?

I’ve thought about this long and hard, Sarah. I just think you’re gonna have a really hard time maneuvering your wheelchair around our tiny little apartment, and the mansion is wheelchair-friendly now. Victor had mobility issues in his last few years. They even put an elevator in there.

I forgot about that.

Right. Plus, you’ll have an entire staff dedicated to making your life easier, especially with Victoria. And then your mum’s gonna be there all the time. So…what do you say?

[soft music]

I mean, you’re right. It would be more convenient at the mansion, and being close to my mom would really be helpful.

OK. Yeah, let’s do it.

Fantastic. I’ll let Henderson know to expect us. There is one other little thing I wanted to run by you, though.

What’s that?

Would it be OK with you if I invited my mum to move in as well?

Of course that would be OK. I think that’s great.

I was hoping you’d think so. It’s just, we’ve been getting along so well, and I just don’t see any reason for her to keep paying rent at the inn.

Yeah, I totally agree. Mm, I’m thrilled that she’s been able to be here for you through all this. It’s like inviting Fiona to our wedding was the best decision I’ve ever made.

I’m so glad I ran into you, because I’ve been meaning to thank you.

[clears throat]

For what?

For almost a year, I thought my son Alex wasn’t my son. And then you showed up, and thanks to you, we found out that it was Xander and not Alex who was Victor’s heir. So I am incredibly grateful to you. You gave me my son back.

I don’t deserve too much credit. I was just setting the record straight, and I had no idea that dreadful Theresa woman was lying to everybody.

Still, we’re all very lucky you came to town. You have changed so many people’s lives for the better, including mine. So thank you.

[phone rings] Hold on. Just a second. I got to take this. Yeah, Brady, what’s up?

[tense music]

Justin… will you come down to the police station right away? I need a lawyer.

Why? What’s happening?

I turned myself in for a… very serious crime.

What crime?

Sarah’s hit-and-run.

Oh, my God.

Be right there.

Is everything all right?

[sighs] I don’t know if you know or have ever met Xander’s nephew Brady.

[chuckles] No, I haven’t had the pleasure, but… I’ve heard wonderful things about him.

Yeah, well, that’s about to change, I’m afraid.

Why? You said something about a crime?

[both sigh] Is it to do with Sarah’s accident? You can tell me. After all, I am family.

Well, actually, you’ll probably hear about this from Xander anyway. Apparently Brady… has turned himself in for Sarah’s hit-and-run.

[sighs] Here.

Thanks.

Are you feeling any better about all this?

A little, I guess.

Mm.

So how did things go with your dad? You said you didn’t know if you were in trouble, that he was being weird.

Yeah. I thought he was gonna go off on me, but he seemed strangely distracted, like his mind was somewhere completely different. Then he got this mysterious text, and then he just left, like, really abruptly.

Hmm. That does sound weird. Who knows? Maybe it’s a good thing. I mean, if he has other things going on, maybe he won’t have time to be mad at you.

Maybe. I just hope everything’s OK. He and I have been… really distant this summer, you know? I mean, he and I have always had our problems, but with all this stuff going on with my mom, I just– I don’t know, I don’t want to lose what relationship I have with him.

Of course you don’t. You need your dad.

[dramatic music]

Yeah. I do.

In any case… I should probably head home, my real home, you know, face the music since the jig is up.

OK. I’ll go with you, make sure you get home safe, and we can face your dad again together.

Holly, you don’t have to do that.

Tate, I want to. Besides, now that our secret’s out, who knows how much time we’ll get to spend with each other?

Yeah. Thanks, Paul. Love you too, buddy.

Well? What did he say?

Well, as far as he knows, Brady isn’t drinking. However… there was an incident he neglected to tell you about.

An incident? What happened?

When Paul came to town, he walked in on Brady as Brady was pouring himself what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage. And Brady even admitted that he was tempted here because of all the things that were happening with Theresa, but he didn’t follow through with it. Paul swears Brady gave Paul the drink and Paul got rid of it.

Well, I’m glad to hear that.

[exhales sharply]

Let me remind us that one– one misstep does not mean that he’s fallen off the wagon.

I know that, Doc. But I have this sinking feeling that we are on the right track here.

All right, are you ready to blow this joint?

More than you know.

[chuckles] OK. Sorry. It’s gonna take me a sec.

There’s absolutely no rush. Hey, how about a little help?

You said that there was no rush.

And there isn’t.

OK, well, honey, I’m gonna have to learn how to do this at some point.

I know, and you will. But you’re not on your own, Sarah. I’m right here, and I always will be. I’m with you % of the way, OK? So how about today, just today, day one, we try and do this together?

[soft music]

Yeah. There we go.

There. How was that? Not so bad?

I’m definitely gonna need something stronger. Where’s that bloody waitress?

Hi, Fiona. I was just on my way over to your place to see if you needed any help with Victoria.

[sighs] Yes, actually, that would be lovely.

Fiona, what’s wrong? You look as white as a sheet.

Well, I guess you haven’t heard the news, then. Someone’s confessed to hitting Sarah.

[dramatic music]

What? When?

Just now. I was with Justin, and he got a call from the culprit himself. He–he– the bastard, he said he’d just turned himself in and that he needed representation.

Well, why did Justin accept the call? Who was it?

I’m afraid you know him. It was Victor’s grandson Brady.

Oh.

Justin, thank you for coming so quickly.

Before we start, I need a moment alone with my client.

Of course. But I want to take his statement as soon as possible.

[sighs] Brady, I don’t understand. You hit Sarah with your car and then you just drove away and left her there on the side of the road?

Justin, first and foremost, if you don’t want to take this case, I understand. I don’t blame you, because I know that Xander and Sarah are family.

You’re my family too, Brady. But I’m gonna need you to explain yourself. You need to tell me everything that happened that night. And I mean everything.

[clears throat]

The truth.

Justin, the problem–

The truth.

The problem– the truth is, I don’t– I don’t really know.

Man. All right, that’s it. I can’t wait around here anymore. I got to do something.

I don’t know what there is to do.

I got to look for Brady. If my son’s in trouble, I got to find him.

I understand, but where would you go? He could be anywhere.

I think I’ll start at the bars and I’ll work my way from there. Just let me know if you hear anything, OK, honey?

I will, of course, of course.

[dramatic music]

Hey, Tate? What are you doing here?

Wow. What happened to you? Did you get injured at lacrosse camp?

No.

I never went to camp.

How could you not know what happened?

Justin… I was drunk.

Oh. Brady–

Look, I’ve been–look, I’ve been messed up since Alex and Theresa’s wedding. I’ve been going on some benders, some real out-of-control stuff, and I thought I was hiding it pretty well, but apparently people started to notice. Anyway, I– The night of Sarah’s accident, I was at Small Bar, drinking. I just assume that I–I–I hit her on the way home.

Wait, I don’t understand. You assume?

Like I said, I don’t remember exactly what happened. All I know is, I woke up in the driver’s seat of my car, splitting headache, and I have no recollection as to how I got to the parking garage. It wasn’t until I heard the police start talking about finding a gray sedan that I realized that I might– I might have been responsible for it.

That’s it?

No. I panicked, I went down to the parking garage, took a look at the car, and… there was damage on the front fender.

Justin, look, I’m ashamed that it took me this long to get here, but I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to turn myself in. Understand? Had to do it.

OK. I understand. But if I’m hearing you correctly, you don’t actually know for sure that you’re guilty.

OK. Well, now that we have you all settled in safely at home…

[chuckles]

Tell me… is there anything I can get you from the kitchen?

Mm! My mom said that she made some of her famous lemon bars.

One famous lemon bar coming right up.

Xander.

Thank you.

I’m just the delivery service, darling. Your mum’s the baker.

That’s not what I’m talking about, and you know it. Thank you for everything.

You have been so loving and understanding and so supportive through this whole thing, and I could not– I couldn’t have gotten through this without you.

You don’t have to thank me, Sarah. You’re my wife, whom I do worship and adore.

So I will gladly bring you lemon bars and everything–and everything that your heart desires for the rest of our lives. I love you, Sarah. I’m gonna be by your side forever… or until you get sick to death of me, and even then, maybe a while after that.

I could never get sick of you. That’s not gonna happen.

Now, where’s my lemon bar?

Coming right up.

Thank you.

[laughs]

Brady? Are they sure it was him?

Yes, I’m afraid so.

That doesn’t make any sense. If Brady would hit someone with– with a car, he would– he wouldn’t flee the scene.

Oh, unless–oh, God, unless he’d been drinking.

Oh, that’s right. He’s an alcoholic. Didn’t you say you were his sponsor?

Yeah, I am, and he’s had his struggles, but–

[phone beeps] Oh, excuse me.

It’s Xander.

Has he heard the news?

It doesn’t sound like it. He’s checked Sarah out of the hospital and he’s taking her to their new home.

New home? Are they moving?

Yeah. In with me.

[chuckles] To the Kiriakis estate?

Yeah. And they want us to bring the baby over there, and he wants you to pack up your things from the inn.

What? Xander wants me to leave the inn?

And move in with us. I mean, that is, if you want to.

I just don’t know what to say. After everything Xander and I have been through, I’m shocked…and honored that he wants me so close by.

You’ve been an incredible help, Fiona, to your son and to my daughter, I mean, to all of us. So why don’t I take Victoria over there, and– and you can collect your things?

Yes. I think that’s a good idea– unless you want me to be there when you break the news about Brady.

No, it’s OK. I can handle it. But there has always been bad blood between your son and Brady. I don’t know how Xander’s gonna react when he hears the news.

Well, I texted your mum to bring Victoria by and to get my mum to pack up her things. And I’ll see about getting someone to move all our stuff over from the apartment.

Thank you for doing that.

Hey, we agreed. No thanks required. It’s my pleasure.

How about a bite as a reward?

Well, I am actually way ahead of you, because I had three of those already, but I’ll take a bite out of you.

Mm!

[phone rings]

Oh, it’s the commissioner.

[tense music] Please tell me you have good news.

I wouldn’t call it that, but I wanted to let you know that we have the suspect in custody and he’s admitted to being the driver of the car that hit Sarah.

Great. Now tell me the bastard’s name.

So you spent the whole summer at the Horton cabin?

Yeah, it was the only way that Holly and I could be together. We’re really sorry for deceiving all of you.

[sighs]

And what did your father have to say about that?

[chuckles] He wasn’t happy, obviously, but like I was telling Holly, it was really weird. I couldn’t really get a good read on him.

Yeah, why not?

I don’t know. He just seemed distracted, like, troubled by something. And then he just took off somewhere.

Took off where?

I don’t know. He just left.

[dramatic music] Is there something going on with my dad that I should know about?

[phone rings]

Hold on, hold on, hold on.

[groans]

Hey, Larry, listen, I’m right in the middle of something right now. Can you–

Wait, wait, wait, wait, what?

[tense music]

Didn’t we say earlier that the third time in my bed is the charm?

We did.

Well, then, Brady, I think this is our moment.

Maybe.

[laughter]

[breathes deeply] Forgive me, Brady. You don’t deserve this. But what can I do other than–

[sighs] Maybe it’s time I told the truth.

OK, Brady, from what you’ve told me, you don’t have any memories of the actual incident itself, only before and after. Is that right?

That is–yeah.

That right?

But it was me. It had to have been me. Come on. I’m certain that it was me, all right? I was there. There’s damage on the car. Jada says security footage shows a partial plate that matches mine. I hit her. I did it, and even though I can’t specifically remember what happened, I’ll tell you what I got in my head, Justin. I have this vague memory of screeching tires. It’s playing nonstop in my head. I hear it.

OK, Brady, I understand. But I am going to strongly advise you to reconsider making a full confession.

I already told– I already told you.

Brady.

This is what happened.

No! You talked. Now it’s time to listen. You called me, OK? Now you’re gonna listen to my honest professional opinion, which is, tell them only the facts of your recollection, just as you told them to me, and nothing more.

[exhales heavily]

They know what evidence they have. No sense helping them build their case. And, Brady, when you do talk, I do not want you admitting guilt. That’s for a jury to decide– if it comes to that.

I know. I know you’re doing your job. Justin, you’re a really good lawyer, but I don’t see any point in fighting this. I really don’t. Honestly, I don’t want to, because what I did to Sarah was inexcusable. Inexcusable. I need to make things right.

Oh, sweetheart, I am so glad you’re out of the hospital and that you decided to move back in. I just feel so much better having my daughter close by.

Yeah, me too. Where’s my daughter?

Ah, well, she’s sound asleep.

[chuckles] But it’s good, because I– I have some pretty shocking news to share with you. It’s about your hit-and-run.

[dramatic music]

Jada called.

So you know who the driver was, that it was–

Brady.

I couldn’t believe it.

How could he?

Yeah, well, I can’t believe it either, sweetheart, but it appears to be true. I mean, Justin’s already down at the station with him. How did Xander take it?

As well as you’d expect.

Oh. Well, I should speak with him. So where is he?

Hey! Where the hell’s Brady?

Xander, he’s with his lawyer right now and–

In there?

Yes. I’m gonna need you to calm down.

No, I need to see him.

No, no, no. I can’t let that happen, OK? I need you to go home and let me handle this. Your wife needs you.

We need to understand what happened. How the hell could Brady hit Sarah and then just drive off?

Xander, all of these questions will be answered in time.

Wait. Is that addict off the wagon again?

He had been drinking, yes.

[tense music] Listen, why don’t we talk about this in my office, OK?

The hell with that.

No.

Xander. Xander, what are you–

I’m gonna kill you.

Whoa, Xander! Wait a minute! Stop! Xander!

Hey, thanks, Larry. Really appreciate the heads-up.

[dramatic music]

John? What is it?

It’s an old buddy of mine down at the Salem PD. He had some… intel that he wanted to share with me.

They got the driver who hit Sarah.

Oh, no.

Who is it?

Is it someone we know?

It’s your father, Tate.

You can’t tell the truth. You’re finally on good terms with your son. You can’t muck this up right now.

[sighs]

Sorry, Brady. You don’t deserve this. I hate to see you go down for this. But what else can I do? I don’t have any choice. I have too much to lose.

Xander went to the station?

I tried to stop him, but he was determined to confront Brady. I’ve never seen him this way before, Mom. He looked–he looked angry enough to kill.

Xander, Xander, don’t do–

Xander, let him go! Xander, let him go! If you don’t let him go, I’ll arrest you!

I don’t give a damn!

Xander, think about Sarah. Think about Victoria. Come on, you don’t want to do this. They need you. Come on.

[coughing]

Justin, how can you defend him? He knocked Sarah down, left her to die in the street.

Xander, I didn’t mean to hurt her, Xander. I’m sorry. Tell her I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it.

The hell I will, Brady. I swear to God, you’re gonna pay for this. I’m gonna make sure that you spend the rest of your miserable life rotting in prison.

Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

At the Horton house, Chad calls “Abigail” and leaves a message that he’s tucking the kids in and about to head home. Chad hangs up as his son Thomas appears and asks who he was talking to.

“Abigail” calls Mark and assures him that Chad totally bought that she was just asking him for directions. Mark is glad, warning that if he hadn’t, she would be in big trouble. Mark’s sister Felicity then appears next to him in the town square.

Kristen sit with her laptop at the Brady Pub where she finds out about Brady, arguing that it didn’t have to go this way as she got rid of his car and told him to run, but he ran straight to the police station. Kristen complains that she had his back. Ava then enters and asks if that’s another empty promise because she sure as hell didn’t have her back.

Connie has Melinda’s phone and gets a text from Kristen, asking where she is as she needs her. Connie remarks that she’s sorry but Melinda is all tied up at the moment.

Melinda struggles with being tied to the bed in Connie’s room with the cardboard cutout of Li Shin.

Stefan enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion where Gabi informs him that she’s dividing up the room so that they each have half. Gabi says her attorney says it’s important for her to keep the DiMera Mansion as her primary residence if she wants to take him for everything he’s worth, but she doesn’t want Stefan anywhere near her. Stefan knows he broke her heart but he’s praying that one day she will forgive him. Gabi remarks that God hears all prayers but chooses to say no to some of them. Stefan complains that dividing the house is ridiculous. Gabi calls his opinion unimportant to her. Gabi warns Stefan to keep his girlfriend on her half of the house and says she has the rest of the house to do as she exits.

Kristen questions Ava still being angry that she fired her because Gabi insisted. Kristen says she apologized and meant it. Ava decides they’re good then and their friendship is repaired. Ava then sits at her table and asks if she wants the knife out of her back. Kristen complains that she couldn’t let Gabi pull Gabi Chic because she needs to prove herself as CEO and relaunching Gabi Chic is moving towards that. Ava argues that’s great for her but now she’s unemployed and Gabi is coming after her. Kristen remarks that Ava should’ve thought about that before sleeping with Stefan.

Connie wonders what to text back to Kristen as Melinda. Connie then brings a food tray to Melinda, who is screaming for help. Connie tells Melinda that she’s wasting her breath because she soundproofed everything. Connie argues that they all enjoyed making fun of her behind her back at DiMera but she’s not so simple now. Connie offers her soup but Melinda refuses. Connie tells her to go ahead and starve then, adding that she only kept Melinda alive because Li asked her to. Melinda tells her that Li is dead and calls her a psycho. Connie gets upset and blames Li’s death on Melinda, Gabi, and Stefan.

Chad tries to change the subject but Thomas asks him again who he was talking to. Chad claims he was talking to someone from work but Thomas asks why he said he was coming home soon.

Mark tells “Abigail” that he has to go and will catch her up later as he hangs up. Felicity questions who Mark was on the phone with. Mark says it doesn’t matter and would rather talk about her but Felicity questions who Mark was saying would be in big trouble.

EJ enters the living room and questions Stefan about all of Gabi’s tape. Stefan explains that they are in his half of the room. EJ says marriages fall apart but they don’t need to include the rest of them in their drama. EJ argues that the tape clashes with the rug. Stefan brings up that the entire staff still quotes what Nicole said to EJ when she found out he stole Eric’s baby. EJ says the last thing he wants to do is dodge imaginary barriers in his own house. Stefan tells EJ to tell Gabi that because this is all his fault since he’s the one who convinced Gabi to stay. EJ argues that he did Stefan a favor. Stefan admits he didn’t want Gabi to move out but because of EJ’s antics, Gabi is now determined to take him for everything he’s worth, including the house.

Ava thought Kristen didn’t judge her over what happened with Stefan and points out that Kristen encouraged her not to be so hard on herself. Kristen argues that Ava does have to take some responsibility since nobody forced her to sleep with Stefan, so she does have to blame herself. Ava mocks having Kristen as a friend. Kristen argues that friends tell the truth and if she hadn’t blabbed everything at the office, Gabi never would’ve found out. Kristen then questions why Melinda is not texting her back.

Connie tells Melinda that she wouldn’t have had to punish her for how she treated Li, remarking that Gabi broke his heart but Melinda was just as bad. Connie talks about Li being so broken that he couldn’t see her as the real thing that was finally there for him. Connie declares that Gabi has paid the price and her marriage is over thanks to her. Melinda questions what she did. Connie says if Melinda had a husband and he cheated on her with Ava, she’d want to know about it. Connie adds that she’s just getting started and declares that by the time she’s through, Gabi will have nothing.

Gabi goes to see “Abigail” in her bedroom and says she thought she should introduce herself since they will be living under the same roof again. Gabi says they say she is Abigail, but she just doesn’t see it.

Chad tells Thomas that he must have misspoke because he’s tired. Thomas questions if that’s really what happened since he’s always here to tuck them in, but he’s never there when they wake up. Chad apologizes for being gone so much and promises to make it up to him but things have been a little crazy lately. Thomas tells Chad that he’s not Charlotte and he’s 9 so he can tell something is wrong. Thomas asks Chad to tell him the truth so Chad decides he will be honest.

Mark sits with Felicity and tells her that he was on the phone with Aaron. Felicity questions how Aaron could be in trouble when he’s at lacrosse camp. Mark explains that Aaron lied and made up a story about how he was paying for camp. Felicity notes that Aaron lied to her once too and she didn’t like it.

Chad claims to Thomas that an old friend is in town and had a bad accident so he thought it would be best if she stayed at the DiMera Mansion. Thomas questions Chad staying there too. Chad says he thought it would make her more comfortable since she didn’t know EJ and Stefan very well. Thomas questions not having her stay here. Chad talks about the DiMera Mansion being bigger and having staff to help take care of her. Thomas asks when Chad is coming back for good. Chad says soon, so Thomas questions how soon. Chad admits he doesn’t know as everything is up in the air right now. Chad asks if Thomas is okay. Thomas then questions if the woman he said was in an accident is his girlfriend.

“Abigail” tells Gabi that she knows she doesn’t look the same. Gabi says she heard about the plastic surgery and the amnesia. Gabi then tells “Abigail” that she is at war with her husband, Stefan. “Abigail” says she’s sorry to hear that. Gabi questions that since they weren’t exactly friends. Gabi then clarifies that they were friends then enemies and ultimately frenemies. “Abigail” says it sounds complicated and asks if it was about her sleeping with Stefan. Gabi question her remembering that but she clarifies that EJ told her. Gabi says it wasn’t about that as it was before she and Stefan were involved. “Abigail” says she’s sorry about that. Gabi tells her not to be as she wasn’t in her right mind while Stefan is a different story.

EJ tells Stefan that half of the house belongs to him so Gabi will be in for a rude awakening if she tries to make a move on it. Stefan says it’s good to know that he has an ally as long as EJ has something to lose as well. EJ remarks that Stefan made his bed and invited Ava into it, asking why he should be inconvenienced because Stefan doesn’t know how to take a cold shower like the rest of them. EJ questions Stefan sleeping with Ava of all people. Stefan tells him to leave Ava out of this. EJ argues that Ava kidnapped his mother and drove her off a cliff so it’s a miracle that Susan even survived. EJ states that Ava is very much in this conversation. Stefan brings up the women EJ has brought in and insists that Ava is off limits. EJ questions his instinct to protect Ava. EJ then brings up that Stefan’s twin brother was engaged to Ava and now his heart keeps his blood pumping. Stefan tells EJ to keep it up. EJ jokes that it would explain so much and wishes Stefan luck because he’s going to need it.

Ava asks Kristen what the problem is. Kristen tells her that she’s been trying to reach Melinda about a contract problem as she has a friend who needs legal advice. Ava mocks Kristen having another friend. Kristen says she got a text from Melinda, saying she needs a break and complains that she just hired her. Kristen remarks that she better have a damn good explanation for this as she texts Melinda back.

Connie tells Melinda that it looks like Kristen isn’t too happy to hear about her leave of absence and now she wants details. Melinda argues that Kristen won’t buy anything Connie writes and offers to come up with something she will. Connie mocks Melinda thinking she’s an idiot while she’s tied to a bed. Connie comes up with something that she says will shut Kristen up.

Kristen gets Connie’s text from Melinda’s phone, claiming she doesn’t want to take orders from the woman who murdered her daughter, so she can take her job and shove it. Ava questions Melinda saying that. Kristen says she doesn’t get it since Melinda’s daughter’s death was an accident and they talked about it before she hired her. Ava confirms Melinda said the same to her, so Kristen questions where the hell this is coming from. Kristen argues that Melinda is competent, came on board, and never looked back. Kristen talks about Melinda being in early. Ava mentions that Melinda never said a word about being discontent and always putting the company first. Ava then thinks back to Melinda telling her about what she discovered about Connie. Ava tells Kristen it’s a DiMera problem and she doesn’t work there anymore.

Melinda laughs at Connie’s plan and asks if she really thinks no one will miss her or come looking for her. Connie mocks Melinda being beloved by so many people and thinks Melinda overestimated her popularity. Connie says she has things to go do. Melinda argues that it’s not too late and that part of her must know this is messed up. Connie argues that Melinda only cares because she wants something and says she’ll be back as she exits, leaving Melinda screaming in frustration.

Stefan asks EJ to fix him a drink but EJ tells him to fix it himself. EJ says Stefan is not family to him after he and Gabi did everything in their power to take DiMera away from him. Stefan argues that EJ always gave as good as he got. Stefan says not to pretend this is about the company when it’s about his life. Stefan says not long ago, he hoped all of these wars between them would be over and they could at least be brothers. EJ remarks that misery loves company which is why he’s looking forward to his front row seat to Stefan’s deathmatch with Gabi.

Gabi tells “Abigail” about her dissociative identity disorder and how she modeled one of her alters after her as “Gabby”, but she was integrated long ago. “Abigail” says every time she meets someone else in the family, she feels like she owes them an apology. Gabi tells her not to beat herself up about sleeping with Stefan as she wasn’t in her right mind so she couldn’t consent which means it was technically rape. Gabi wonders if she can use that in her divorce case. “Abigail” comments on Gabi being angry. Gabi figures she would be too if her husband cheated. “Abigail” tells Gabi that she’s sorry she’s going through all of this. Gabi warns her to be careful who she shows civility to in this house since she doesn’t have any allies. “Abigail” says even if she had allies, she wouldn’t remember them, and that Gabi is the only one who doesn’t look at her like she has three heads. “Abigail” feels she could use all the frenemies she can get. Gabi feels the same and says this will be continued as she has much more work to do and exits.

Chad assures Thomas that he doesn’t have a girlfriend. Chad promises that he misses Thomas and Charlotte more than they miss him, insisting their whole family will be under the same roof again soon as he hugs him.

Felicity asks Mark if he really has to punish Aaron. Mark says he shouldn’t have lied and they all have rules to follow. Felicity argues that Mark gets to make the rules. Mark says that’s what their parents would’ve wanted until Felicity and Aaron get older. Felicity asks what happens if Mark lies. Mark jokes that she can ask when she catches him lying but she hasn’t. Felicity wishes their parents didn’t die in the accident. Mark says he does too but promises he’s not going anywhere as they hug.

Chad goes to the DiMera Mansion and joins “Abigail” in the bedroom. She notes that it took him awhile after he said he tucked in the kids. She asks if everything is okay. Chad says not exactly since Thomas was asking why he’s not living at home. She asks what he told him. Chad says he told him that he has a friend staying here that he’s taking care of. Chad admits he doesn’t like lying to Thomas and doesn’t know how much longer he can do it. “Abigail” questions if Chad’s going to tell him that she’s alive.

Connie shows up at the DiMera Mansion where Gabi answers the door. Gabi thought she was still sick but Connie assures she’ll be back at the office tomorrow and wanted Gabi to have everything she put together for her meeting with the new suppliers. Connie feels the new line of Gabi Chic will be better than ever. Gabi admits she nearly forgot about the meeting because she’s been pretty busy as she plans to take Stefan for all he’s worth including the mansion. Connie says good for her after what he did to her and calls it an eye for an eye. Connie then declares that since Stefan slept with Ava, she thinks Gabi should sleep with someone else too.

Kristen complains that Ava has had her fun and asks her to cough up what Melinda discovered. Ava refuses so Kristen calls her a bitch. Ava asks if she can have her job back first. Kristen argues that her hands are tied. Ava argues that Kristen chose to screw her over rather than lose a couple dollars. Kristen says it’s more complicated than that and she knows it. Ava says it’s not personal, just business. Kristen then gathers her things and walks out of the Pub.

Melinda screams that Connie is a psycho bitch as she remains tied to the bed. Melinda guesses Connie being this crazy is why she never had another date with Li. Melinda declares that she has to get out of her before she completely loses it.

Ava exits the Pub and runs in to Connie, who calls her the homewrecker. Ava asks why Connie had to tell Gabi. Connie argues that she needed to know. Ava says it wasn’t her business. Connie feels Gabi had a right to know her husband was cheating on her and calls Ava a skank. Ava warns there was a time in her life where she wouldn’t make it to the end of her sentence for talking to her like that.

Melinda tries to break free from being tied up.

Gabi listens in from outside the living room as EJ tells Stefan that Gabi better rethink going after the house, but as for everything else, he hopes she leaves him with nothing but his socks. Stefan questions EJ taking Gabi’s side. EJ suggests Stefan’s been given a gift from above and he doesn’t even know it which Stefan questions. EJ tells Stefan that maybe Gabi was just a placeholder until the real love of his life came in. Stefan says he loves Gabi, not Ava. EJ argues that he shares an affinity for Ava that he and Gabi do not. Stefan responds that he doesn’t owe him an explanation. EJ agrees and warns Stefan that any enemy of Ava’s is a friend of his as he declares that means Gabi is his new BFF. Gabi thinks back to Connie’s suggestion that she should sleep with someone else too.

Chad tells “Abigail” that he doesn’t know what to do as part of him is wondering if they should tell the kids the truth about her being alive. “Abigail” argues that they can’t as it will only confuse them. Chad is tired of lying to them every night and points out that they have no idea how long it will take for her memory to come back. She points out that she had a memory today. Chad says it was a terrible one and complains that it still doesn’t make sense why she remembers her murder but nothing else. Chad says maybe it’s too soon to know what that means in the big picture. “Abigail” suggests it means they have to give it more time. Chad insists he’s not trying to pressure her about her memory, but he made a promise to Thomas and he can’t go back on that. “Abigail” decides the only solution then is that he needs to move out.

Update written by Joseph

At the hospital, Tate asks Holly how Sarah’s accident could be their fault. Holly explains that Sarah and Xander were headed to the Horton Cabin for their honeymoon. Tate realizes they would’ve caught them there. Holly adds that they were waiting in the town square for Maggie to bring the key but she couldn’t find it because they took it. Holly says that Sarah was going to help Maggie look for the key that they took and that’s when she got hit by the car.

Xander asks Sarah how she’s doing. Sarah responds that Maggie gave her a nice pep talk that inspired her to get out of the hospital bed and start living her life. Xander questions it being soon that. Sarah says she will need physical therapy, but medically there’s no reason for her to stay in the hospital. Xander decides that he will go see about getting her released then and he will also check in with Jada in hopes that they have apprehended the suspect by now. Sarah encourages him to leave Jada alone and assures that she will reach out when there’s news. Xander agrees to leave Jada alone for now but vows that when he finds out who did this to her, there will be hell to pay.

Fiona sits in the town square with Victoria and talks about the iced tea not hitting the spot as she’s used to something much stronger. Fiona talks about how Victoria is the only one she can confide in because she doesn’t judge her. Fiona talks about being responsible for Sarah not being here and being in the hospital, possibly never walking again. Fiona declares that she destroyed a woman’s future and tore a hole in the heart of the people that love her. Justin then approaches Fiona.

John paces at home, waiting for Brady to call him back. John says it’s driving him crazy and tells Marlena that he won’t be able to relax until they clear this up. Marlena knows John is worried but wonders if they are jumping to conclusions. John says in his mind, there’s only one reason that Brady would lie to Jada about his car being supposedly stolen. John doesn’t want to believe that Brady hit Sarah and just kept going, but tells Marlena that it’s not looking good.

Brady goes to the police station and tells Jada that he’s there to make a confession that he was driving the car that hit Sarah Kiriakis. Jada questions Brady lying earlier which he confirms. Brady admits he panicked and wasn’t thinking straight. Jada asks what made him come clean and if Kristen tipped him off about the warrant for his arrest. Brady insists that he’s here to make a good example for his son and show him that they all have to take responsibility for their actions. Brady adds that the guilt is eating him up over the fact that Sarah may never walk again because of something stupid he did by driving drunk. Brady declares that he was evil in that moment. Jada stops him and says they have to do this by the book and advises him to call his attorney before she takes his official statement.

Fiona asks Justin if they have met. Justin introduces himself as Victor’s nephew. Fiona remembers that Justin was at Xander’s almost wedding and says he was just having a chat with Victoria. Fiona is surprised she didn’t recognize Justin when he was the one who had her letter to Victor. Justin understands they weren’t properly introduced. Fiona is thankful that Xander has forgiven her and they are now on excellent terms, pointing out that he even lets her watch the baby while he takes care of Sarah. Justin says it’s terrible what happened to Sarah and hopes that the partial license plate leads to the culprit being arrested.

Xander returns to Sarah’s room and informs her that Kayla is working on her release now. Sarah excitedly says she can’t wait to get out of the hospital. Maggie decides she will check with Fiona to see if she needs any help with Victoria and tells Sarah to text her when she is home. Sarah thanks Xander for everything. Xander says it’s his pleasure to bring his wife home as Maggie exits. Xander adds that he won’t let Sarah push herself too hard. Sarah says she just wants to hang out with her husband, their daughter, and sleep in their own bed. Xander tells Sarah that he has a proposition for her that he thinks will make a real difference to her recovery.

Holly argues that if they hadn’t been lying and sneaking around the cabin without permission, Sarah wouldn’t have been in that accident or paralyzed now. Tate insists that’s not how it works and that so many factors came together to put Sarah in the wrong place at the wrong time. Holly says Maggie basically said the same thing. Tate is surprised that she told Maggie. Holly figured that since Brady caught them, she may as well come clean to her family too but then she realized their actions may have caused Sarah’s accident, so she just ran out of the room. Tate says what happened to Sarah is horrible but the only person to blame is the person who hit her and then sped off.

Marlena tells John that it’s impossible to imagine Brady hitting Sarah with his car and then leaving her in the street, even if he were drinking. John argues that he wouldn’t be thinking clearly if he was drunk. Marlena asks what about when he sobered up and realized what happened, asking why he wouldn’t come forward then. Marlena says that instead he covered up with the car and that’s not their Brady. John brings up Marlena asking Paul about Brady’s sobriety. Marlena confirms that Paul said Brady claimed he was fine and even going to meetings. John points out that was before the accident, so he wonders if Brady told Paul something else that might shed some light on this. John decides to call Paul.

Xander informs Sarah that he wants to move back in to the Kiriakis Mansion as he thought she would have difficulty in her wheelchair in their small apartment. Xander brings up how the mansion is wheelchair friendly since Victor had mobility issues and even had an elevator put in. Xander adds that she’d have a staff to help make her life easier including with Victoria, plus Maggie will be there all the time. Sarah agrees it would be more convenient and being closer to Maggie would be helpful, so she agrees to do it. Xander says he will let Henderson to know to expect them. Xander then asks if it would be okay with her if he invited Fiona to move in as well. Sarah thinks that is great. Xander says they’ve been getting along so well that he doesn’t see any reason for Fiona to keep paying rent at the Salem Inn. Sarah is thrilled that Fiona has been there for him through all this and calls inviting Fiona to their wedding the best decision she ever made.

Justin tells Fiona that he’s glad he ran in to her because he had been meaning to thank her which she questions. Justin explains that for almost a year, he thought Alex wasn’t his son until thanks to her, it came out that Xander was actually Victor’s heir. Justin tells Fiona that he’s incredibly grateful to her because she gave him his son back. Fiona feels she doesn’t deserve too much credit as she was just setting the record straight and had no idea Theresa was lying to everyone. Justin insists that she changed so many peoples’ lives for the better, including his. Justin then gets a call from Brady, who asks him to come to the police station right away as he needs a lawyer. Justin asks what’s happening. Brady responds that he turned himself in for a very serious crime, Sarah’s hit and run. Justin is shocked and says he’ll be right there as he hangs up. Fiona asks if everything is alright. Justin doesn’t know if Fiona ever met Xander’s nephew, Brady. Fiona claims that she has not had the pleasure but she’s heard wonderful things about him. Justin is afraid that’s about to change. Fiona asks why, noting that he said something about a crime and asks if it has to do with Sarah’s accident and points out that she is family. Justin decides she’ll hear it from Xander anyway but apparently, Brady has turned himself in for Sarah’s hit and run which shocks Fiona.

Holly asks Tate how things went with Brady since he said he didn’t know if he was in trouble. Tate thought Brady was going to go off on him, but he seemed strangely distracted like his mind was somewhere completely different and then he got a mysterious text and left really abruptly. Holly agrees that it sounds weird but encourages that maybe it’s a good thing since if Brady has other things going on, he won’t have time to be mad at him. Tate just hopes everything is okay and talks about being distant this summer and with everything going on with Theresa, he doesn’t want to lose what he has with Brady. Holly agrees that he needs his dad. Tate decides he should head home and face the music. Holly says she will go with him to make sure he gets home safe and they can face Brady together. Tate says she doesn’t have to but Holly insists, pointing out that they don’t know how much time they will get to spend together now that their secret is out.

John thanks Paul and finishes his call. John then tells Marlena that as far as Paul knows, Brady isn’t drinking but there was an incident that he didn’t tell her about as Paul walked in on Brady pouring himself an alcoholic beverage and that Brady admitted he was tempted because of everything with Theresa, but Paul swears that Brady gave him the drink and he got rid of it. Marlena argues that one misstep doesn’t mean Brady has fallen off the wagon but John has the sinking feeling that they are on the right track.

Xander helps Sarah in to her wheelchair, reminding her that she’s not alone and that he will always be there for her as they kiss.

Fiona decides she’s going to need a stronger drink but Maggie finds her and says she was just on her way to her place to see if she needed any help with Victoria. Fiona says that would be lovely. Maggie asks her what’s wrong as she looks white as a sheet. Fiona guesses she hasn’t heard the news and informs Maggie that someone has confessed to hitting Sarah which shocks Maggie. Fiona explains that she was with Justin when he got a call from the culprit himself, who said he had just turned himself in and needed representation. Maggie questions Justin accepting the call and who it was. Fiona is afraid she knows him as she reveals it was Brady.

Justin joins Brady and Jada in the interrogation room. Brady thanks him for coming so quickly. Justin asks for a moment alone with Brady. Jada says she wants to take his statement as soon as possible as she then exits the room. Justin tells Brady that he doesn’t understand, questioning Brady hitting Sarah with his car and then just driving away. Brady tells him that he understands if Justin doesn’t want to take this case since Sarah and Xander are family. Justin argues that Brady is family too but he’s going to need him to explain himself by telling him everything that happened that night. Brady responds that the problem is, he doesn’t really know.

John tells Marlena that he can’t wait around anymore as he has to go look for Brady. John declares that if his son’s in trouble, he needs to find him. Marlena argues that Brady could be anywhere. John decides he’ll start with the bars. John goes to leave but Tate comes home with Holly, shocking John and Marlena. Marlena notes his crutches and asks if he got hurt at lacrosse camp but Tate reveals that he never went to camp.

Justin asks how Brady could not know what happened. Brady admits he was drunk and that he’s been messed up since Alex and Theresa’s wedding. Brady reveals he’s been going on out of control benders and thought he was hiding it pretty well but apparently people started to notice. Brady informs Justin that on the night of Sarah’s accident, he was drinking at Small Bar, so he just assumes he hit her on the way home but he doesn’t exactly remember what happened other than he woke up in the driver’s seat of his car with a splitting headache with no recollection of how he got to the parking garage. Brady adds that he heard the police talking about a gray sedan which is when he realized he might have done it. Brady says he went to look at the car and saw damage on the front bender. Brady tells Justin that he couldn’t take it anymore and had to turn himself in. Justin understands but points out that Brady doesn’t actually know for sure that he’s guilty.

Xander brings Sarah home to the Kiriakis Mansion and asks if there’s anything he can get her from the kitchen. Sarah mentions Maggie making her famous lemon bars and thanks him for everything. Sarah says Xander has been so loving, understanding, and supportive through this whole thing so she couldn’t have gotten through this without him. Xander assures that he worships and adores her, so he will bring her everything she desires for the rest of their lives. Xander tells Sarah that he loves her and will be by her side forever as they kiss. Xander then heads to the kitchen to get her lemon bar.

Maggie asks Fiona if they are sure it was Brady, arguing that it doesn’t make any sense since Brady wouldn’t flee the scene if he hit someone with his car, unless he had been drinking. Fiona recalls Maggie saying she was Brady’s sponsor. Maggie says that Brady has had his struggles. Maggie then gets a text from Xander. Fiona asks if he’s heard the news. Maggie says no as Xander has checked Sarah out of the hospital and are moving in with her at the Kiriakis Mansion. Maggie adds that Xander said in his text that he wants them to bring Victoria and also for Fiona to pack up her things and move in with them if she wants to. Fiona doesn’t know what to say after everything she and Xander have been through, admitting she is shocked and honored that he wants her so close by. Maggie calls Fiona an incredible help to Xander, Sarah, and all of them. Maggie decides she will take Victoria home while Fiona collects her things. Fiona calls that a good idea unless she wants her to be there when she breaks the news about Brady. Maggie says she can handle it but notes that there’s always been bad blood between Xander and Brady, so she doesn’t know how Xander is going to react when he hears the news.

Xander brings Sarah her lemon bar and says he texted Maggie about bringing Victoria and moving Fiona in. Sarah thanks him. Xander then gets a call from Jada and asks if she has good news. Jada says she wouldn’t call it that but they have the suspect in custody and he’s admitted to being the driver who hit Sarah. Xander says that’s great and then asks for the bastard’s name.

Marlena questions Holly and Tate spending the whole summer at the Horton Cabin. Tate explains it was the only way they could be together and they are really sorry for deceiving all of them. John asks what Brady had to say about it. Tate says he wasn’t happy obviously but he couldn’t get a good read on him because Brady seemed distracted or troubled by something and then he just took off somewhere and left. Tate asks if something is going on with Brady that he should know about. John gets a call from his contact Larry which shocks him.

Fiona goes to her room at the Salem Inn and begins packing her things. Fiona thinks back to sleeping with Brady there. Fiona states that Brady doesn’t deserve this but questions what she can do. Fiona then declares that maybe it’s time she tells the truth.

Justin argues that Brady doesn’t have any memories of the actual incident, only the before and after. Brady says that’s right but insists that it had to of been him because there was damage on the car and they had a partial plate that matches his. Brady says even though he can’t remember specifically what happened but he has a vague memory of screeching tires playing nonstop in his head. Justin understands but advises him to reconsider making a full confession. Brady repeats that he already told him what happened. Justin shouts that Brady talked and now he’s going to listen. Justin advises Brady to tell them only his recollection of the facts and nothing more. Justin says the police know what evidence they have, so there is no sense of adding to the case. Justin doesn’t want Brady admitting guilt because that’s for a jury to decide, if it comes to that. Brady knows Justin is doing his job as a lawyer but he doesn’t see any point in fighting this and he doesn’t want to because what he did to Sarah was inexcusable and he needs to make things right.

Maggie brings Victoria home to the Kiriakis Mansion and tells Sarah that she’s so glad she’s out of the hospital and that she decided to move back in as she feels much better having her close by. Maggie mentions that Victoria is asleep and then informs Sarah that she has pretty shocking news to share with her. Sarah reveals that Jada already called, so she knows the driver was Brady. Sarah says she couldn’t believe it and questions how could he. Maggie says she can’t believe it either but it appears to be true as Justin is already at the police station with him. Maggie asks how Xander took it. Sarah says as well as you’d expect. Maggie wants to speak with Xander and asks where he is.

Xander storms in to the police station and asks Jada where Brady is. Jada informs him that he’s in with his lawyer. Xander wants to confront him but Jada stops him and says she can’t let that happen, telling Xander that she needs him to go home and let her handle this as his wife needs him. Xander questions how Brady could just hit Sarah and drive off. Jada says all those questions will be answered in time. Xander then stops and asks if that addict is off the wagon again. Jada confirms he had been drinking that night. Jada suggests they go talk about it in her office but Xander refuses and bursts in to the interrogation room. Xander then shouts that he’s going to kill Brady and begins choking him while Justin yells for him to stop.

John thanks Larry for the heads up as he finishes the call. Marlena asks John what it is. John reveals his buddy at the police department had some intel to share with him. John announces they got the driver who hit Sarah. Holly asks who it is while Tate asks if it’s someone they know. John then reveals that it’s Brady.

Fiona picks up her phone and tells herself that she can’t tell the truth when she’s finally on good terms with her son. Fiona declares that Brady doesn’t deserve this and she hates to see him go down for this, but she has no other choice as she has too much to lose.

Sarah tells Maggie that Xander went to the police station and she tried to stop him, but he was determined to confront Brady. Sarah adds that she’s never seen Xander like this as he looked angry enough to kill.

Justin and Jada pull Xander off of Brady as Justin urges him to think of Sarah and Victoria. Xander questions how Justin can defend Brady when he left Sarah to die in the street. Brady tells Xander that he didn’t mean to hurt her and he’s sorry. Xander swears that Brady is going to pay for this and declares that he will make sure Brady spends the rest of his miserable life rotting in prison.
