I-I can imagine. You’ve had to juggle a lot of lies with a lot of really well-meaning people. It sounds to me like a weird version of hell. Yeah, well, I had to do what I had to do. And, uh… what? [ Sighs ] You listened in on my conversation with dante. I’ve been trying to figure out why you’ve been so hot and cold with me lately. Brook lynn, that was just talk. I didn’t mean it. Then why’d you say it? Because I-I slipped. I said it would be a mistake if I developed feelings for you.

[ Scoffs ] That’s much better, chase. Thanks for clearing that up. I was referring to bailey. I mean, that’s what we’re doing here, right? God — [ Sighs ] If I develop feelings for you, it would complicate things, so — so I had to downplay it to dante. He’s a sharp guy. So I said all that crap about you not being my type. Did you really have to take it that far? I mean, you said awful things about my character. You said yourself I am a terrible liar. So, yeah, I went too far to make sure that dante bought it. sonny has planned this elaborate surprise at the haunted star. He’s re-created martinique. Which is where you two got married, right? Yeah. Second wedding. I mean, sonny really knows how to make a romantic gesture. So then what are you doing here and not there? Because I don’t need romance right now. I need some space to figure out my feelings, you know? I — sonny wants me to commit right here and right now to fighting for my marriage and — I mean, am I wrong for not wanting to meet him halfway? Let’s just back up for one minute. You — you just said that you don’t need romance, that you need time. And you said this to sonny. Yes. And he still went ahead and he planned this elaborate surprise. He wants you to come, despite how you’re feeling right now? Yes. Well, that’s not about meeting sonny halfway. [ Sighs ] So they’re trying to stabilize him right now to move him to G.H. It was peter. It was peter. I-I can’t believe I let him escape. Can you tell me what happened? Yeah. I was in the van with peter and the guard. And the van lost control and was swerving everywhere, and then it just stopped. Spike strips. Yeah, I managed to avoid them. Oh, well, I’m glad somebody did. Okay. So the van swerved and stopped.

[ Sighs ] I got out. I left peter and the guard in the van. Mac joined me. We were searching for what caused the accident. I-I noticed the tires had been punctured and — then there was a light that came from over here. A car. Description? No. It was an suv ’cause the lights were too high up. Okay. And then I sensed… someone walking up behind me, and I turned, and it was kendall, but he hit me over the head before I could do anything. Kendall. Okay. Do you know who shot the pentonville guard or this man? No. No. I came to. I heard the dispatcher. I called it in, and then I passed out again.

[ Sighs ] How’s mac? I don’t hear any sirens leaving. They’re still working on him. Any sign of peter? No. My guess is he and kendall took the gunman’s car. Then he could be anywhere. We’ll find him. We have to. And just for clarification’s sake, um, austin’s kiss was not satisfying? What?! Well, you said it was horrible. No, no. That’s not what I meant. The kiss was…great. It just got really messed up afterwards. Oh. I need to hear this.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Uh, excuse me.

[ Clears throat ] Austin! Hi. Austin: Hey. Um, I’m in the E.R. We got patients coming in. There’s a shooting on route 31. Wait. That’s the road to pentonville. What’s going on? There was a shooting on route 31. Spinelli: I’m on it.

[ Beep ] I put you on speaker. Uh, who was shot? I-I don’t have the details. What I know for sure — one cop injured. That must be the prison van. Oh, my god. Mac and dante. Is there any other information? This is what I can tell you. Multiple injured.

Sonny has to know that he’s in the wrong. I mean, he — he’s got to know that he shouldn’t be pushing like this, but it’s almost like he can’t help it. Because he can’t stand the idea of losing you, losing you and the kids and the family. All of it’s way too much for him to lose. So what — what if it’s not an ultimatum and it’s — it’s more a — a cry for help, you know? He’s got to believe that the two of you have a future together. So just maybe what — what if instead of thinking of it as caving… what if you think of it as throwing him a lifeline? What am saying? Of course you’ve considered it. You’re hot, I’m hot. -Oh. Not what I meant. -Oh, you don’t think I’m hot? No! I mean, yeah! Y-y-yes! Definitely. Ah. No, but I was talking about you as a — as a person.

[ Indistinct conversations ] Wsb agent: Agent devane, what do you think? Well, I think kendall saw the strip in the middle of the road and he did nothing to avoid it, that he intentionally disabled this van in order to allow the gunman or the gunmen to move in.

[ Sighs ] I need tire tread prints from the other car on the shoulder, yeah? Alright. Thank you. Agent devane. Any news on the chief? Yeah. He’s on his way to the hospital. Thank you for asking. [ Sighs ] Update the bolo, that our prisoner is traveling alone and he is to be considered armed and extremely dangerous. What’s going on with mac? Can we see him? One of you can go in there, and only for a minute. Okay. That would be you, mom. Pl ease tell me one ofthose dead bodies was peter. No. I-I checked first thing. Peter’s still out there. I’m not ready to give up on my marriage. So this isn’t about what’s fair. It’s about what we both need emotionally. Okay. And what do you need right now? I need sonny to know that I’m still in this. [ Chuckles ] You were right about one thing — I am no jason. But just to be clear, sonny, I don’t want to be. You’re a good friend, good man. Most importantly… a good father. We both know what it’s like to lose people we love. People that, you know — great people cannot be replaced. Yes, we do. Oscar was one of a kind. So was jason.

[ Chuckles ] Wow. They reached détente in like two minutes.

[ Laughs ]

[ Chuckles ] Is that how mike was? A kinder, gentler sonny? Hmm. If you know about mike, I take it you’re a friend of nina’S. One of the few and proud.

[ Chuckles ] My lenny was a marine. He’d do anything for a buddy. Hmm. Well, if you’re drawing comparisons, nina and I aren’t that close, but we did share a brother. Was that j? Nina was the only one who called him that. Everybody else knew him as nathan. Nina and I [Sighs] We’re not that close, but we — we share things that bond people for life. I’m glad she has a friend and a sister.

[ Both laugh ] Kind of. In a way, yeah. The thing is, though, with nina, it’s like, what’s the — what’s the right thing to do? Does she fight for sonny or does she sound the retreat? Spence! There you are. Looks like I got here just in time. If you show up at spring ridge too late for them to check you in, it could add to your sentence. I’m sure you wouldn’t want that on your conscience, especially after the way things ended at the cabin. That wasn’t trina’s fault. I didn’t say it was. Anyway, I’m relieved to see you aren’t showing any ill effects after drinking too much. It wasn’t the hot toddy. Oh, that’s right. It was our little game that upset you. It’s more like I’m reminded of all the things that I — I planned and hoped for, you know? Before jason came back and things ended with drew. Exactly. Okay, but now — now you have a chance to see where things with drew might have led, if that’s indeed what you want. I know 30 days is going to feel like forever, but just remember — you’re not alone. [ Scoffs ] Esme has nothing to be jealous of. Anyway, if you really feel uncomfortable about supervising spencer when he starts working here, that’s — that’s fine. I will happily keep the two of you apart. Apparently, the buyer that you recently sold this piece of the ice princess to had it appraised, and the fragment is close to worthless. Wow. If that’s true, it’s news to me. Well, the wsb has doubts about that. Anna, why is the wsb involved and not interpol? Jockeying for jurisdiction is my guess. The ice princess is of enormous interest, as well you know. All too well. Put a shadow over our lives for decades, really. I mean, everyone wanted a piece of that thing. Its history alone is of immense value, not to mention its monetary worth, which is to say there will be no shortage of scrutiny as to how this case is handled.

[ Sighs ] How did you find a buyer? I used an intermediary — someone who has done deals for luke and me in the past. I’ll need a name. I also need you to walk me through where you store this diamond and how often you have it appraised and the contact information for the previous buyer. Does this mean that my mother is not under arrest? Well, I think arrest is a little aggressive, don’t you? Especially since tracy is so willing to cooperate. I-I’ll make a call and have — have them void the warrant. We were given the green light. Yeah. You know what? And we’ll discuss your conduct later. Could you just wait outside? Can you — thank you. Okay, uh, so I’ll need every detail, now, of where the diamond was, how it was passed from luke to you — every detail. Go. Michael surprised willow with an upcoming trip to paris, and to get a passport, she needs a birth certificate, what? So she doesn’t have a birth certificate? She lost it? Whatever. Get another one. It’s easy. No, it’s not easy, alexis. Willow doesn’t have a birth certificate, and it’s — it’s my fault. I don’t get it. She was married. She — she was in school. She had a driver’s license, or has a driver’s license. You can’t have all those things and not have a birth certificate. Look, I know. The one that she had, it wasn’t — it wasn’t official. I lived on a commune when I gave birth to willow, and, um, that community didn’t — they didn’t exactly adhere to societal norms. What does that mean, exactly? I forged willow’s birth certificate.

I really appreciate you trying to help out with those agents. Mm, that diamond has always brought bad luck. I would never tell my mother this… then I won’t either. Have you spoken with valentin? No. Why? Well, I got a voicemail from him and it sounded urgent, and now I can’t get ahold of him. What would that have to do with me? Anna, what did valentin’s voicemail say? He said he has a lead on louise. I’m glad I chose right, because there’s — there’s just so many memories to choose from. Like, a lifetime’s worth. God, I remember you were so determined not to marry me. My god, you fought me at every turn. I thought I was protecting you, I-I wish I could say it was the last time that I did the wrong thing for the right reason. And you finally gave in, despite your fears. Because I trusted you, and now you gotta trust me. I want to. [ Laughs ] Yeah. Listen. So what we can do is, like, we can, um… we just take it slow, right? Tonight will just be like the first step. Why would she do that? She didn’T. Or so she says. But I believe her. You know, first, luke dies, then the diamond gets counterfeited, and victor has resurfaced. That’s not a coincidence. Esme: Do you have someplace you need to be? That’s the third time you’ve checked your watch. Hmm. You don’t miss much, do you? I’m an observer of human behavior. It’s why I’m studying psychology. Wow. My family will give you lots to analyze. Speaking of, I don’t see my nephew outside anymore. You’re absolutely right. Spencer sure seems desperate to reach you. He just feels bad that his girlfriend is the legitimate worst. Maybe. Either way, it’s a good thing that you are not hung up on him.

Because ever since she was told that bailey isn’t his child, he’s been even more determined to reunite you with your daughter. Austin: As I live and breathe. What are you two up to? Austin, did you just say that gladys is heading to visit valentin? I sure did. Is that a problem for you, brook lynn? Brook lynn, what is going on? Is everything okay? No. What was that all about? I don’t know what you want me to say. I want you to say what you really feel. Seeing harmony brings up a lot for me. Everything that happened at dawn of day. How utterly stupid I was. You were not stupid. You were trusting. It’s different. Shiloh was a master manipulator. Intellectually, I know that harmony was just another one of his victims. But you can’t forget what she did. [ Both chuckle ] Why don’t we both get her? Deal. I walked in on sonny and curtis having A… let’s just call it a heated discussion. At the savoy? Yeah, and I tried to intervene, but, man, I just made everything worse.

I’m your friend, sonny. Jason was my friend. You’re just a knock-off, a poor shadow of his brother.

[ Sighs ] Sonny was acting pretty erratic. In what way? And what was he even doing there? He was determined to, um… buy out the club for a night. I told sonny that I needed time, not some big, romantic gesture. But it’s okay. Curtis shut him down. It’s not going to happen. You know sonny. Once he sets his mind on something, it’s really hard to talk him out of it. You haven’t actually said much about your time in spring ridge. It was prison. It was light years better than pentonville, but it was still prison, and while I was paying my debt to society, it was hard, and there were a lot of lonely days. And harmony helped? She did. Because she had also done time in prison, so she could meet me where I was, as an equal. There’s tremendous relief in that kind of shorthand, because I don’t have to explain anything to her. She got me. She knew where I was coming from, and she knew what I would be going through when I got out. I think the most interesting realization for me was that, like you, harmony was shiloh’s victim, and like you, she was desperate for some enlightenment, and he used it. He weaponized it against both of you. But I give her a lot of credit for recognizing her mistakes. She gave testimony against him, and she didn’t do it in exchange for anything. She got no deal. She went to prison. She took her lumps. She did it because she knew it was the right thing to do. Kind of like you pleading guilty? Yeah. Kind of like that. I know you all thought I was out of my mind for doing that, but, you know, she understood why, and it’s nice to be able to be that honest with someone and have someone get you. You know, I mean, isn’t that the essence of a good friendship, to be honest with somebody? Sounds right to me. So, do you think your aunt’s going to try to kill peter again? Look, I don’t know her plans, and I don’t want to. Good. Because you need to focus on being the perfect parolee. Would you care? If you went back to prison? No. If peter died. The world would be a far better place. But I will say this — if peter meets with an accident of some kind, I don’t want gh involved in any way. Get that guy out of my hospital. Amen. I mean, how can sonny say that he loves me when he still has room in his heart for someone who hurt us like that? -What am I up to? Wow! -It’s a fair question. It’s not enough that you accused me of orchestrating this weekend to blow up your friendships — which you denied. Do you believe me? I want to. Oh, my god. Which is why I’m asking, what the hell did you hope to achieve with the questions you were asking during the drinking game?

[ Laughs ] A fun night! How was I supposed to know what would hit a nerve? I’m not the one who moved in on my best friend’s crush. Offers to kids with asd, autism spectrum disorder. He loves it. And I’m learning a hell of a lot, too. That’s become our, uh, special father-son time. Seems like you and olivia are… finally getting it right. Well, it’s a work in progress. Like marriage. What does that mean? Well, I hope I’m not overstepping here, but our wives are so close that olivia filled me in on your troubles. And based on what you said to leo earlier, are you and carly back on track? Not knowing the whole truth doesn’t hurt anyone. I’m not sure that’s the case. You know the truth. Tell me what part of my story does curtis need to know in order to embrace being my son?
