Update written by Joseph

Leo sits in his room at the Salem Inn, trying to come up with something for his column. Leo tells himself to think of his fans and how they must be waiting for the gossip. Leo mentions the woman outside of Everett’s room who was certainly odd. Bonnie then shows up and tells Leo that she thought he would be interesting in the story of the century.

Sarah comes home as Xander is working out. Xander jokes that he’s getting pumped up for the big event today. Sarah jokes like he’s getting ready for a wrestling event as El Erotico. Xander tells her that he’s getting married to the most beautiful woman in the world and calls her absolutely perfect as they kiss.

Alex talks on the phone in his room, saying he’s elated that they were able to lock in this deal and how the 3rd and 4th quarters are looking very profitable. Alex says he’s now going to get ready for his wedding and hangs up. Justin enters his room and says he just came by to see if he was ready for his big day. Alex says he just needs to shower and change. Justin says he won’t keep him but there is something he needs to say.

Brady thinks it’s a little late in the game to have Tate come to the wedding. Theresa points out that a flight would only be a couple hours away. Brady feels direct flights will be sold out by now. Theresa argues that Alex could send the Titan jet. Brady questions that not being too extravagant. Theresa says not for the future heir to the Kiriakis fortune. Theresa decides she will call the lacrosse camp now to tell them to get ready because she’s sending a charter jet to pick up one of their campers.

At the Horton Cabin, Tate and Holly kiss until they are interrupted by a knock at the door. They wonder who that is and if they’ll just go away. Sophia calls out from the door that she knows they are in there and that they are so busted. Holly then answers the door and questions what she’s doing there. Sophia hoped they enjoyed their staycation because it’s all about to come to an end.

Alex tells Justin that he won’t talk him out of marrying Theresa. Justin says she signed the prenup so it’s all good. They agree they don’t want to fight. Alex asks what Justin came to say then if not to warn him against marrying Theresa. Justin declares that if it’s alright with him, he’d like to perform his wedding ceremony.

Brady stops Theresa and tells her to let Tate get settled in at camp and make friends. Theresa argues that Tate wants to be at his mother’s wedding. Brady thinks she’s overestimating a teenager’s interest in weddings. Brady tells her that he’s sorry but she will run out of time and it won’t work. Theresa guesses he’s right but complains that she really wanted Tate to be there. Brady says he’ll send him tons of pictures and videos. Theresa can’t help but think this is all Holly’s fault since if she just kept her distance, they wouldn’t have had to send Tate off for the summer. Theresa remarks that at least they know Tate is not in Holly’s clutches..

Sophia jokes that she thought the cabin would be harder to find but used her GPS. Tate questions how she even knew they were there. Sophia reveals she saw them in the park on the 4th of July and plotting how they tricked their parents. Sophia admits that sending Aaron in Tate’s place to camp was a pretty slick move. Tate says he can explain. Sophia wonders what Tate’s parents would say if they knew he wasn’t there. Sophia thinks they would freak out and asks if they should call them. Holly says she can’t tell their parents. Sophia mentions running in to Theresa earlier in the town square and they were chatting and she almost told her, but she changed her mind. Holly thanks her for not saying anything. Holly gets that she’s angry with her but asks if they are still best friends. Sophia thinks their best friendship set sail when Holly became a backstabbing bitch. Sophia then reveals that she didn’t say anything to Theresa because she’s getting married tonight.

Brady tells Theresa that they can’t put all the blame on Holly since she’s a kid and Tate did go out of their way to lie to their faces and go behind their back. Theresa argues that she’s known girls like Holly all her life and they like to manipulate the nicest looking guy to doing whatever they want. Brady remarks that sounds like someone he knows. Theresa tells him to be nice on her wedding day. Theresa knows it’s not her first wedding obviously, but it is her first proper ceremony. Brady jokes that she might have a proper ceremony but it won’t be as cool as they one they had in the Vegas chapel. Theresa admits it was cool. Brady says he doesn’t remember every moment since he was high as a kite. Theresa admits she may have taken advantage of the situation a little. Brady compares that to what she said about Holly. Theresa says she got the point and that it was more of a scheme than a wedding. Theresa feels the actual wedding was the unofficial one upstairs in his bedroom. Brady says he remembers that very well. Theresa says for one shining moment, the stars were all aligned and they were actually happy. Brady calls it a shame that it didn’t last.

Alex questions Justin wanting to officiate his wedding. Justin explains that he was talking to Maggie and that she’s officiating Sarah and Xander’s wedding, so he offered to take one wedding off her hands. Alex questions why Justin would want to marry them when he thinks he’s making a big mistake, unless this is some kind of trick.

Sarah tells Xander that she’s barely checked off any of her list and they have so much to do before the wedding. Xander suggests letting Alex and Theresa do it since they are horning in on their wedding. Sarah asks if he’s having second thoughts about the double wedding. Xander says they’ve been through a lot to get here, so he’d prefer the day be all about them. They agree that it’s too late to back out now but it would be nice if they brought his family together. Xander jokes that Alex should cover the whole bill since he inherited all that money. Sarah jokes about him being jealous. Xander insists that having tons of money is no longer his goal in life as he wants to make a good, honest living and make his wife and daughter happy. Xander declares that marrying the woman of his dreams again is all that matters. Sarah tells him the same and jokes with him. Xander says he will dig up his lucha libre mask to bring back El Erotico to remind her how macho and suave he can be as they kiss.

Leo questions Bonnie saying a double wedding is the story of the century. Bonnie says it doesn’t happen every day. Leo calls it the idea of betraying his readers with a double snoozefest. Bonnie asks about Leo having a double wedding. Leo says he suppressed that memory. Bonnie talks about how it was Xander and Gwen plus Leo and Craig and how the drag queen crashed it and revealed that Leo was just marrying Craig for his money. Leo sarcastically thanks her for bringing up that memory and tells her that he’s in therapy now, working on becoming a more honorable person instead of the shallow and manipulative dirtbag he was. Bonnie says she doesn’t judge since she has been that herself. Bonnie assures that this double wedding won’t have the drama that his did, at least not the drag queen part. Leo then asks which part will it have and asks if it’s the marrying for the money part. Bonnie feels she’s said too much already but Leo guesses it’s Theresa and asks if Bonnie is saying that Theresa is only marrying Alex because he’s the heir to the Kiriakis fortune. Bonnie claims not to know much of anything. Leo argues that he knew he was right about Theresa and demands Bonnie tell him everything. Bonnie admits there have been some concerns about Theresa’s motives for marrying Alex but begs Leo not to put it in his column. Leo complains that he could really use the content. Bonnie says he has to understand that Alex is family and Theresa will soon be. Leo gives in and admits he kind of likes Theresa anyways since she reminds him of his old BFF Gwen, who he betrayed and now hates him with a vengeance. Leo tells Bonnie that he hasn’t spoken to Marlena but he’s read that when feeling terrible guilt about ruining a friendship, he should exhale the guilt and inhale the serenity but says it’s not working. Leo says he doesn’t blame Theresa for wanting what Alex has and jokes that he’d marry Alex for nothing. Leo comments that between Alex and Xander, it’s like a dry run for another Magic Mike movie.

Xander and Sarah lay on the couch after having sex. Sarah jokes that they might have done this out of order. Xander thought it was perfect but hopes it’s not bad luck for them to see each other before walking down the aisle. Sarah thinks they’ve had their share of bad luck, so no more worrying. Xander recalls when Kristen stuffed her in to a trunk before their other wedding. Sarah recalls when Xander got imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit but that’s all in the past.

Justin questions Alex thinking he’s trying to trick him. Alex points out that he just did that with Konstantin and Maggie’s wedding. Alex says he wouldn’t be surprised if halfway through the ceremony, Justin bursts out of his seat to accuse Theresa of embezzling funds. Justin asks if Alex is serious when he knows damn well why it went down like that with Konstantin. Justin questions Alex not trusting him over that. Alex apologizes for making that analogy but asks if he can really blame him after he gave him a lot of pushback about Theresa. Justin assures that he has no ulterior motives and just thought it would be nice. Justin says he may not be the father of the groom, but he just wants to be a part of his special day, but not if it doesn’t work for him. Alex responds that it actually does work for him and he’s sorry for accusing him of ulterior motives. Justin accepts his apology. Alex notes that he will have to ask Theresa first but he doesn’t think she will have a problem with it. Justin agrees to go prepare his script for the ceremony. Alex thanks Justin as he exits the room.

Theresa tells Brady that it’s been their problem that they would be good for awhile but can’t seem to make it last. Brady wonders why that is. Theresa guesses it’s probably her fault because she screws up a lot. Brady says she can’t take all the blame since he was so stubborn most of the time and pretty unforgiving. Theresa hopes things are different with Alex. Brady says he’s rooting for them because despite everything, he just wants her to be truly happy. Theresa says she wants that for him too. Brady says that at least one of them found true love. Brady tells Theresa that she deserves it. Theresa then states that she has to confess something to him.

Tate questions Sophia announcing that Theresa is getting married tonight. Sophia explains that she was outside the Bakery going on about her wedding cake. Tate says he knew Theresa was engaged to Alex but he didn’t realize the wedding was tonight. Sophia says she didn’t want to spoil Theresa’s big night by telling her that her son was a liar, so she’ll just tell her tomorrow instead. Holly pleads with her and asks if she really wants to hurt them this badly. Sophia reveals that’s why she ratted them out the first time and asks how they think Theresa caught on to their plans to sneak off on prom night. Holly questions how she could do something so spiteful. Sophia says it’s the feeling of betrayal after Holly let her make a fool of herself by asking Tate to the prom when they were secretly seeing each other the whole time. Sophia asks if she has any idea how humiliating that was. Tate says he had no intention of hurting her and thought maybe she would get with Aaron and they would all be happy. Sophia argues that she never expressed interest in Aaron. Holly admits they screwed up and she’s been a terrible friend. Tate apologizes for lying to her and says they were so caught up in keeping them a secret that they didn’t think about how it would hurt other people. Sophia mocks them and says they are only apologizing so she won’t snitch on them since the stakes are high. Holly insists that she’s really sorry. Holly worries that if she tells their parents, Tate will get sent off to military school and they’ll never see each other again. Sophia calls that her problem. Holly pleads with Sophia to keep their secret and says she will do anything.

Brady asks what Theresa wants to confess but Alex walks in and interrupts, questioning Theresa not getting ready for the wedding. Theresa says she was just telling Brady that she’s really happy he is coming to the wedding, even if Tate can’t be there. Brady says he’ll see them at the ceremony and exits. Theresa tells Alex that she should get to Sarah’s now. Alex says he wanted to run something by her first. Alex then informs her that Justin offered to officiate their wedding so he wanted to see if she had any objections. Theresa says of course not and that it’s fine. Alex says he just wanted to talk to her first since he didn’t about the prenup. Alex tells Theresa that he wants to be the best husband for her because he loves her and can’t wait to spend the rest of his life with her. Theresa responds that she feels exactly the same way as they kiss. Alex hugs Theresa while she looks over at a photo of Brady on the mantle.

Xander comments to Sarah that Victoria is still asleep. Sarah says she’ll be well rested for the ceremony and looks over the final guest list. Xander points out that his mom never got back to them. Sarah assumes she moved. Xander says maybe she just doesn’t give a damn. Sarah apologizes for pressuring Xander to reach out to her because she didn’t mean to reopen old wounds. Xander understands it was worth a shot for Victoria. Xander says it’s probably just as well that she’s not coming as they hug.

Bonnie tells Leo that she’s sorry for wasting his time as she didn’t realize a double wedding was a snoozefest as he said. Leo stops her and says as vanilla as it is, maybe they can find an intriguing angle which Bonnie questions. Leo asks if anything scandalous happened at a bachelor party but Bonnie says they skipped all of that. Leo asks for any inside details on the ceremony. Bonnie then informs Leo that there might be a surprise guest in Xander’s mother. Leo is shocked as he didn’t know Xander even had a mother. Bonnie emphasizes that she might be coming to the wedding. Leo questions it being a surprise. Bonnie explains that she and Xander have been estranged for years since she had a drinking problem. Bonnie adds that Sarah worked hard to track her down and got an address for her in Paris to send her an invite but then she found the invite in the trash. Leo questions why she would throw it away. Bonnie thinks Theresa got in Sarah’s head since she was discouraging her and repeating what a bad idea it was. Leo asks how Xander’s mom got the invite then. Bonnie admits she sent it and she thinks Xander and Sarah would thank her later. Leo questions her not telling them. Bonnie jokes that a surprise is not a surprise if no one is surprised.

Xander jokes to Sarah that the positive of his mom not coming is that the bar won’t get ransacked. Theresa then arrives with her dress. Xander questions Theresa not thanking them for letting them join in on their wedding. Theresa then thanks them and says they are eternally grateful. Xander goes to get ready. Sarah tells Theresa that she’s sorry about Xander. Theresa says it’s okay and thanks her for letting them crash their wedding. Sarah says it’s no problem and points out that they are all going to be family.

Justin joins Alex in the living room. Alex tells him that he and Theresa would both love to have him perform their ceremony. Justin says that’s great and he’s very happy. Alex says he knows it’s what Victor would want. Justin responds that he doesn’t mean to speak ill of the dead but he doesn’t give a damn what Victor would’ve wanted.

Sophia tells Holly and Tate that she will consider keeping their secret but she wants something in return. Sophia declares that since Aaron took Tate’s place at lacrosse camp, it’s only fair that Holly takes her job as a waitress at the Bistro. Sophia tells Holly that she’s sure Stefan won’t mind if she gives up her spot to her, but the stipulation that she gets every cent of her paycheck. Holly argues that if she works her job at the Bistro, she’ll never get to see Tate. Sophia says she will as soon as she gets off work and asks what Holly says to that. Holly agrees, so Sophia exits. Holly tells Tate that she can’t believe she’s spending her summer working at the Bistro without seeing a single cent from it. Tate doesn’t want her to make such a sacrifice and says he’ll just go to lacrosse camp for a couple of months but Holly says no. Holly would rather do what they are doing than not see him at all. Holly decides they will just have to make the most of the time they do have together as they kiss.

Leo begins writing his column about the double wedding, saying it promises to be the social event of the season and remarks that hopefully it will have a happier ending than the last Kiriakis wedding which ended in Konstantin being killed.

Justin tells Alex that Victor was a narcissist and a manipulative control freak. Alex didn’t think Justin was still so angry with him. Justin asks how he couldn’t be when he robbed him of a son. Alex argues that he was never Justin’s son in the first place. Justin complains that he shouldn’t have kept it a secret or revealed the plot twist in his will. Alex doesn’t think Justin should be dragging Victor’s name through the mud in his house. Justin doesn’t understand how Alex can defend Victor. Alex says it’s because he was his father. Justin shouts that he was too.

Brady goes home and tells himself not to think about it, repeating that he and Theresa were never good together. Brady thinks back to when he and Theresa had sex. Brady asks how he’s going to get through this wedding. Brady then searches through a drawer and finds a bottle of vodka and a glass.

Bonnie joins Sarah and Theresa and says she has everything they will need, but she forgot the bouquets so Sarah says they will just grab them on the way. Bonnie stops Sarah and says there’s something she needs to tell her about Xander’s mom. Bonnie reveals that she knows Sarah threw Xander’s mom’s invitation in the trash. Sarah stops her and questions what she’s talkiing about because she didn’t throw any invitation in the trash, while Theresa looks worried.

EJ said his comeuppance happened sooner than she thought. Kayla told Jada and Gabi that there was a complication. She said the surgeons removed a clot from Rafe’s lung, but he slipped into a coma.

Brady went to the Kiriakis mansion to look for Maggie but ran into Alex. He let Brady know that she was running last-minute errands. Brady thought he meant for Xander and Sarah’s wedding, but Alex told him that he and Theresa were getting married too. He was surprised by Alex’s news. Alex told him that Maggie thought it would bring the family together. He would understand if Brady didn’t want to go to the ceremony. Brady thought it was a good idea since he assumed Theresa was only after his money. He knew that wasn’t the truth, so Brady wondered if there was another reason why Alex didn’t want him at the ceremony. Brady flashed back to his night with Theresa and said he would go to the wedding. Alex was okay with it, but Brady seemed troubled.

TV Interview!

Gabriela Pessions and Dimitri Leonidas of "Those About to Die" on AMC and AMC+

Interview with Gabriela Pessions and Dimitri Leonidas of “Those About to Die” on Peacock by Suzanne 6/28/24

It was fun to speak to these two actors. You don’t want to miss this epic series, which stars Sir Anthony Hopkins (among many others). It has a huge cast. It’s filmed more like a movie than a TV show. If you loved “Spartacus” or “Gladiator,” you should love this one as well. I love the characters, the politics and the action. It starts 7/18!

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Chanel officially reopens the Sweet Bits Bakery and posts a help wanted sign in the window. Chanel gets a call from Johnny, who asks how she is doing. Chanel talks about how busy she is. Johnny asks if she’s sure she’s not pushing herself too hard and offers to come help since he’s unemployed. Chanel assures that she is okay and that there’s nothing he could do. Chanel finishes the call as Theresa approaches and says she thinks Chanel can help her and it’s kind of an emergency.

Holly joins Tate at the Horton Cabin on Smith Island. Tate says he missed her and kisses her as they hug.

Brady goes to the Kiriakis Mansion and asks Alex if Maggie is there. Alex says she went out to run errands for the wedding but he’ll let her know that he stopped by. Brady talks about knowing Maggie is busy with Sarah and Xander’s wedding but he wanted to make sure after everything with Konstantin, that a wedding isn’t triggering for her. Alex says he hopes they can make some better memories tonight which Brady questions. Alex then informs him that it’s a double wedding as he and Theresa are getting married tonight too which surprises Brady.

Johnny enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion and sees EJ having a drink, commenting that it’s a little early. EJ responds that it’s 5 o’clock somewhere and reveals to Johnny that he’s looking over Nicole’s petition for divorce.

Nicole joins Eric in his room with Jude. Eric thanks her for letting Jude stay with him. Nicole says of course since he is his son. Nicole tells Jude that she still missed him like crazy even for one night. Eric asks how Nicole is doing. Nicole responds that she stayed at the Salem Inn last night after leaving EJ and now she has to find a place big enough for her, Holly, and Jude. Eric asks how Holly is taking him being Jude’s dad. Nicole tells him that Holly adores him and is really happy for him, but she’s been grounded a lot lately so she’s miserable. Eric mentions that Holly told him when he ran in to her and she needed to vent a little. Nicole thanks him for letting Holly vent and guesses it was mostly about her. Eric says it wasn’t and that Holly loves her very much. Nicole says she loves Holly with all her heart and that she let Holly stay with a friend last night because she needed time to think things through. Eric asks what she is going to do. Nicole reveals that she called her lawyer to serve EJ divorce papers because they are done.

Johnny tells EJ that he can’t be that surprised that Nicole wants a divorce since it seemed kind of inevitable after she moved out. EJ admits that it did and assumes Johnny is quite upset with him. Johnny says he feels horrible for Nicole and Eric. Johnny adds that he thought he had a little brother and told everyone how happy he was that EJ got his son back and they were going to raise their babies together. EJ is sorry for letting him believe that. Johnny declares that now none of that is going to happen.

Theresa tells Chanel that she knows she just reopened and it’s last minute, but she desperately needs a wedding cake today. Theresa explains that she and Alex got engaged and planned to get married in a couple months but then decided on a double wedding today with Sarah and Xander. Chanel suggests just using the cake she made for Sarah and Xander since it’s definitely big enough. Theresa says that it is, but it’s a spice cake and she hates spice. Chanel says she gets it and isn’t a fan of it either. Theresa hoped they could have their own cake so Chanel asks what kind she wants. Theresa says as long as it’s not spice cake, she’s good with anything. Chanel agrees to see what she can do.

Tate talks to Holly about never seeing the inside of the mythical Horton Cabin. Tate calls it the perfect summer hideout. Holly asks if he’s heard from Aaron. Tate says he ran six miles today at lacrosse camp. Tate thanks Holly for saving him from what would’ve been the worst summer of his life. Holly hopes their parents never find out they are here. Tate asks how they would and declares that as long as they are careful, they’ll never know.

Brady questions Alex getting married tonight. Alex says they just decided and asks if Brady is shocked. Brady says it’s just fast. Alex says that he said the same thing when they got engaged. Brady says that’s because that was only a few days ago. Alex explains that Bonnie suggested the idea of the double wedding and that he and Theresa agreed it was a great idea. Alex says Sarah and Xander did all the work and their guest lists overlapped. Brady thought Alex hated Xander’s guts. Alex admits they’ve had their differences but Maggie hopes this can eliminate some of the baggage. Alex adds that he knows he and Brady have gone through it the last few months, so if he’s uncomfortable being there to support he and Theresa, he’s sure that Sarah and Xander will understand if he rescinds his RSVP. Brady agrees that he doesn’t want to ruin his big day, so he asks him to send Sarah and Xander his deepest regrets. Alex says he’s not hinting that he doesn’t want Brady to come to the wedding and is just giving him the option in case he’s uncomfortable. Brady admits he is a little uncomfortable, partially because he should’ve never had the idea that Theresa would marry him for his money and he never should’ve said anything. Alex says he’s over that and admits the thought had crossed his mind. Brady says the prenup pretty much proves him wrong and tells Alex that there’s a lot of reasons that Theresa would want to marry him. Alex asks why Brady wouldn’t want to be there if he accepts that Theresa’s not marrying him for the money, unless there’s another reason.

Chanel tells Theresa that she will go check to make sure she has everything to make her cake at the Bakery. Sophia then approaches Theresa and asks if she can talk to her about Holly and Tate.

Holly tells Tate that she’s sorry she couldn’t make it last night since she missed the last ferry. Tate still can’t believe that EJ pretended Eric’s kid was his own. Holly says she feels so bad for them. Tate asks how Holly is doing with all of this. Holly acknowledges that she and Nicole haven’t been getting along but assures that she is completely on her side because this was so wrong. Tate points out that it kind of blew up her whole family. Holly says it’s not really about that for her since she only felt like she had a real family when Eric was her stepdad. Tate asks if she thinks there’s a chance that Eric and Nicole might get back together. Holly says who knows and she’s just glad to get away from all the drama for a little while. Holly jokes that the timing works out for them because she can’t be grounded if she doesn’t have a home. Holly decides that’s enough talk about that and asks what they should do now they are finally alone.

EJ tells Johnny that he’s sorry that he was hurt. Johnny asks if he means he’s sorry that he hurt him. EJ then apologizes for hurting him and a lot of other people too. Johnny admits he’s done some crazy things to hang on to a relationship but argues that Eric is the nicest guy and asks how EJ could let Eric hand him his child. EJ says he won’t try to justify his actions. Johnny knows that he knows he can’t. Johnny recalls when he was a little kid and EJ would tell him how disappointed he was in him. Johnny remarks that now he knows how EJ felt.

Eric tells Nicole that divorce is a big step and asks if she doesn’t think she needs more time to think it through. Nicole compares it to Eric ending his marriage to Sloan, arguing that what EJ did is just as bad as what Sloan did. Nicole talks about Jude bouncing between homes and says they are going to have to figure out a custody arrangement. Nicole then asks if Eric is still planning to move to Paris. Eric admits that Roman asked him the same question and he said he didn’t know because he needed to talk to her about it.

Brady tells Alex that he just thinks it would be awkward for Theresa if he was at their wedding. Alex questions why since Brady said their relationship was good for him since he and Theresa were toxic unless he didn’t mean that. Brady admits they haven’t always brought out the best in each other and says they have both moved on. Brady then thinks back to being with Theresa. Brady then tells Alex that he’s going to do a total 180 and decides they are family, so if Alex doesn’t have a problem with him being there, then he’d love to be at his wedding. Alex tells him it’s settled then as they hug.

Theresa tells Sophia that she wants to apologize first for how her son treated her because she knows that must have been so hard for her, but she’s so glad that Sophia told her about Tate seeing Holly being their back. Sophia clarifies that she’s cool with Tate but blames Holly because she was supposed to be her BFF and knew she was in to Tate but didn’t tell her they were seeing each other. Theresa complains that she can’t stand Holly and then tells Sophia that Tate and Holly will be far away from each other this summer because they just sent Tate to lacrosse camp in New York. Sophia then thinks back to hiding in the bushes when Tate and Holly discussed their plan to be together all summer on the Fourth of July. Sophia then tells Theresa that there’s something she should know.

Tate tells Holly that there’s a lot to do and that he found old board games, picking out the game of Life which Holly recalls playing with Maggie all the time so they decide to play.

Johnny tells EJ that he doesn’t mean to kick him while he’s down and he understands it sucks that he lost Nicole, Jude, and his CEO job to Kristen. EJ adds that he might lose his district attorney job if he’s charged as an accessory after the fact. Johnny hopes that doesn’t happen. EJ thanks him for saying that. Johnny admits he is mad at him but that doesn’t mean he won’t always have his back. EJ calls him his loyal son and apologizes for not being as supportive of Chanel’s pregnancy as he needed to be. Johnny acknowledges that he came around eventually. EJ asks if he and Chanel are still thinking of getting their own place. Johnny says they haven’t really talked about it. EJ says he’d understand if he would want to put distance between them, but assures they are welcome to stay as long as they wish. EJ then admits it would mean a great deal to him if they did stay.

Nicole tells Eric that it would obviously be a lot easier to share custody of Jude if Eric was in Salem but after everything he’s been through, she doesn’t want him to give up anything because of her. Eric explains that he was leaving because it was too painful to be around Jude but now he knows he is his. Nicole points out that Eric could stay. Nicole adds that she’s sure Chad and Xander would love to have him back at the Spectator like she would even though it’s not Paris. Eric says he just wanted a fresh start but there’s no reason he can’t have that with Jude and with Nicole.

Theresa asks Sophia what about Tate and Holly. Sophia starts to explain but Chanel comes back and tells Theresa about the cake she can make. Theresa thanks her. Chanel promises the cake will be made with love. Theresa calls her an angel as Chanel heads back to the Bakery. Sophia asks Theresa about getting married which Theresa confirms is today. Sophia congratulates her. Theresa asks Sophia what she wanted to tell her. Sophia says it’s her big day so she can wait. Theresa insists but Sophia claims it’s really nothing and tells Theresa to enjoy her wedding as she walks away.

Tate and Holly play the board game Life which Holly wins. Tate asks if she wants to play something else. Holly suggests movie trivia which she wins again. Johnny questions how she even knows all of this about old movies. Holly admits she watched a ton when she had a thing for a guy who was a big movie buff which Tate remembers as being Johnny DiMera.

Johnny tells EJ that he and Chanel are not going to live there forever, but they will stay awhile longer. Johnny says he knows EJ has lost a lot but promises he will never lose him. EJ says that means the world to him. Johnny says he’s going to take Chanel to lunch. EJ calls him a good husband which is something he definitely didn’t learn from him. Johnny suggests maybe EJ just hasn’t found the right person yet and that he and Nicole just weren’t meant to be. Johnny thinks EJ should sign the divorce papers and move on. EJ agrees to take that under advisement. Johnny encourages that he will be okay as he then exits the mansion.

Nicole asks if Eric is really staying in Salem. Eric feels Jude has been moved around too much already so he’s positive. They talk about how things would’ve been a lot different if they found out Jude was Eric’s when Nicole was first pregnant. Eric admits he wanted to put some distance between them. Nicole says whenever they are together, they can never seem to get it right. Nicole thinks EJ knew that she never really got over Eric and maybe that’s why he went to such extremes to hold onto their marriage. Eric asks if she knew that too. Nicole says that in her heart, she did.

Johnny goes to the town square and invites Chanel to a late lunch. Chanel says she’s so swamped. Johnny encourages that she still has to eat. Chanel promises that she’s been eating well and says it’s sweet of him to check on her as they kiss.

Holly tells Tate that she didn’t mean to bring up Johnny. Tate says it’s not like he didn’t know since Johnny was all she talked about when they first met. Holly calls it a dumb crush and a stupid fantasy. Holly says she’s so lucky to have Tate now as they kiss.

Alex tells Brady that it will mean a lot to Theresa to have him there tonight. Brady is not so sure about that. Theresa walks in and asks about what, so Alex informs her that Brady will be coming to their wedding. Theresa assures Brady that she would want him there. Alex says he can’t wait to see her in her wedding dress. Alex knows they have had ups and downs, but he hopes after the wedding, they can all come together as family.

Nicole tells Eric that she’s never admitted it out loud to anyone but if she had known Jude was their son back then and if Eric would’ve taken her back, she would’ve left EJ. Eric recalls finding out she was pregnant and wishing the baby was his. Eric admits he wanted the same thing that she did. They almost kiss but are interrupted by a knock at the door. Eric answers to see EJ.

Theresa says she ordered the wedding cake and now she just needs to get ready. Alex decides they both should. Alex then gets a call and says he has to take it. Alex tells Theresa that he will see her at the altar and kisses her. Alex then answers his call and exits the room. Brady tells Theresa that he didn’t know she was getting married today. Theresa responds that she didn’t know that either until the other night. Theresa knows Brady is on Sarah and Xander’s guest list, so she should’ve just told him and given him a heads up. Brady says he’s happy for them. Theresa says there’s no problem then. Brady apologizes again for bringing up the whole money thing to Alex. Theresa says he already apologized and she gets it because of her history. Brady says he also knows that she has a huge heart and calls Alex a really lucky guy. Theresa tells Brady that she’s really sorry things didn’t work out between them, but Brady will always be very special to her. Theresa brings up that Brady is Tate’s dad and then suddenly realizes that she thought Tate would be home for her and Alex’s big day until they agreed to the double wedding. Theresa declares that she can’t get married without Tate as she needs her son there at her wedding.

Tate and Holly kiss until they are interrupted by a knock at the door. They wonder who that is and if they’ll just go away. Sophia calls out from the door that she knows they are in there and that they are so busted.

Chanel tells Johnny that the Bakery is her dream but she wants him to follow his dreams too and they could still move to LA. Johnny says there’s no chance and he’s not even thinking about that right now. Johnny adds that EJ just asked if they are still looking for their own place here which they are going to do. Johnny says that EJ won’t mind having them at the house since he’s a little lonely. Chanel asks if there’s any chance EJ and Nicole can get past this. Johnny says no as Nicole already served him with divorce papers, so he told him to just sign them and move on, so he hopes EJ takes his advice.

EJ says he thought he would find Nicole here. Nicole asks what he’s doing here. EJ responds that he brought the divorce papers. Nicole points out that he didn’t sign them. EJ reveals that he doesn’t plan to. EJ says if they think he’s just going to roll over, let them take Jude and wander off to the sunset together, they are sadly mistaken.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[jazzy music]

Leo, come on, babe.   You’ve gotta come up with something.   Think of your fans, your Little Whistles   or whatever they’re called, foaming at the mouth,   waiting for their daily hit of titillating gossip.   Fans like that woman who was waiting outside   of Everett’s room.   She was an odd bird, wasn’t she?

[knocking on door]   Who is it?

Bonnie Kiriakis.

[door clicks open]

Speaking of odd birds.

Sorry.   Old habits die hard.

Hello, Bonnie. To what do I owe the pleasure?

Well, I thought Lady Whistleblower   just might be interested in the story of a century.   –

[panting]   – What’s going on here?

Well, what does it look like?   Getting all pumped up for the big event tonight.

[laughs]   Big event?   I’m very confused.   Are you preparing for a wrestling match?

[gasps]   Is El Erótico coming out of retirement?   – No, no, no, no, no.   Tonight I–I’m marrying the most beautiful woman   in the entire world.

Margot Robbie.   Ana de Armas?

Wrong on both counts.

Hmm.

The woman I’m marrying…

Mm-hmm.

Is none other than Dr. Sarah Horton.

Oh, her?   Yeah, she’s all right, I suppose.   – She’s a bit more than all right.   She’s absolutely perfect.

[sweet music]

Listen, I am elated we were able to lock in this deal.   Seriously. And according to the forecast,   Q and Q of this year are looking very profitable.   Agreed.   Yeah, so now that we’ve got that all taken care of,   I am gonna go ahead and get ready for my wedding now.   I appreciate the well wishes.   Thank you. Take care.

[knocking on door]   Come on in.

Hey. – Hey.

I just came by to see if you were ready for your big day.

Getting there.   I just need to shower and change.

Yeah, and I won’t keep you.   But there is something that I need to say.   – Theresa, don’t you think it’s a little late in the game   to have Tate come to your wedding?   I mean, uh, the lacrosse camp is in–   – Yeah, I know, it’s in upstate New York.   I’m well aware. Flight’s only a couple of hours away.   – Yeah, but it’s– it’s summertime.   I mean, the likelihood of finding a flight, there’s the–   the direct flights are gonna be sold out by now.

Well, then I’ll have Alex send the Titan jet.

You–you’re gonna– you’re gonna have the Titan jet   pick our kid up at summer camp?   You don’t think that’s kind of extravagant?   – No, not for the future heir to the Kiriakis fortune.   – Ah.   I forgot you were marrying Jay Gatsby.   –

[laughs mockingly] You know what?   I’m gonna call that camp myself, actually.   I’m gonna tell them to get ready   because I’m sending a charter jet over there   to pick up one of their campers.

[birds calling]

[knocking on door]

Oh, my God.   – Who is that?   – I don’t know.   Just be quiet, and maybe they’ll go away.   – Tate, Holly, I know you’re both in there.

[tense music]

And you two are so busted.

– Sophia?   What are you doing here?

[sighs] I hope you two have enjoyed your little staycation   because it’s all about to come to an end.

[soft orchestration]   announcer: Like sands through the hourglass,   so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

Listen, you’re not gonna talk me out of marrying Theresa.   – No, no.   She signed the prenup. End of story.   – Okay, good.   Because I don’t want to fight with you, Justin.   Not today.   – Believe me, Alex,   I don’t want to fight with you either.   – Good.   Well, then if you’re here not to warn me about Theresa,   what’d you come here to say?

If it’s all right with you,   I would like to perform your wedding ceremony.

[gentle music]

Theresa, Theresa. No, no, no, no.

What are you doing?

Let our son–just let him be.   Let him get settled into camp.   Let him make some friends.

His mother is getting married.   You don’t think he wants to be there?

Theresa, I think you’re just overestimating   a teenager’s interest in weddings in general.   Look. Look at the time. Look.   There’s no way you’re gonna get the jet fueled   and prepared to go.   And you’re gonna run out of time.   It’s not gonna work. I’m sorry.

[sighs]

[sighs]

I suppose you’re right.

[clicks tongue] Damn it.   I really wanted him to be there.

Theresa, all right. I’ll send him a bunch of videos   from the ceremony, okay?   Why do you have that look on your face?   What?

Because I just–   ugh, I can’t help but just think   this is all Holly’s fault, you know?   Because if she would have just kept her distance from Tate,   we wouldn’t have had to send him off for the summer.

[scoffs, sniffs]   But at least now we know that he’s not in her clutches.

You know, I thought this place would be harder to find.   But, oh, the wonders of GPS. You should hear mine.   I programmed it to have this, like, cute English accent, so.

Sophia, how–how did you even know that we were here?

Oh, I spotted you two lovebirds scuttling off   into the park on the th of July.

Wait, you followed us?

And overheard you plotting to trick your parents   into believing that Tate had gone away   to lacrosse camp for the summer.   But I’m looking around,   and I don’t see a lacrosse stick anywhere.

[gasps] Oh, that’s right.   You sent Aaron in your place, didn’t you?   I’ll admit, that was a pretty slick move.

Hey, Sophia.   Look, I can explain this to you.   And I think you should just listen before you–

I do wonder, though, Tate,   what would your parents say if they knew you weren’t there?   Because I bet they’d freak, hmm?   What do you think?   Should we call them?

[tense music]

Sophia, wait. Please.   You can’t tell our parents about this.

Of course I can.   In fact, when I ran into Tate’s mom   in the square earlier, I nearly did.

Whoa. What do you mean, “You nearly did”?

Yeah, well, we were chatting,   and it was on the tip of my tongue.   But then I changed my mind.

Oh, thank God.   Sophia, thank you for not saying anything.   And look, I get that you’re angry with me,   but we’re still best friends, right?

Best friends?

[scoffs] Wow, okay.   I think the best-friend ship set sail   when you became a backstabbing bitch.   No, the real reason I didn’t say anything   to Tate’s mom is because she’s–   drumroll, please–   She’s getting married.   Tonight.

[tense music]

Theresa, come on.   We can’t put all the blame on Holly, all right?   Number one, she’s a kid.   Number two, our son did go out of his way   to lie to our faces and go behind our back.

You don’t get it, Brady.   I have known girls like Holly all my life.   You see, they have this little hobby   that they have where they– they like to manipulate   the nicest-looking guy   into doing whatever they want for them.

Ooh, okay. Yeah.   Sounds like someone I know.   – Hey. Hey.   It’s my wedding day. Be nice.   Okay? – Mm-kay.

And though it’s not my first wedding, obviously,   it is my first proper ceremony, so–   – Proper ceremony.   both: Yeah. – Well, you might have   a proper ceremony, but it’s not gonna be   as cool as the one we had.   You remember that little Vegas chapel, right?   –

[chuckles] Yeah.   Yeah, that was cool. – Yeah, it was.   Although I don’t remember everything,   every moment, because I was–   I was high as a kite, if I recall.

Yeah.   I may have taken advantage of the situation just a little.

Yeah.   You mean, like–like if a girl would manipulate a boy   into getting whatever she wants kind of thing?

Okay. All right. Point taken.   I got it, Brady.

Yep.

[laughs]   In hindsight, it was more of a scheme than a wedding.

Mm.

You know, to me, the, um,   actual wedding was… the unofficial one.   You remember that?

Yeah, um–   – Upstairs, in your bedroom.

I remember that one very well, yeah.

It was like for one shining moment,   the stars were all aligned, and we were actually happy.

[laughs]

[sighs]   Shame that didn’t last.

[laughs sadly]

[wistful music]

– You want to officiate my wedding?

I was talking to Maggie.   Xander and Sarah asked her to officiate their ceremony.   And since it’s a double wedding,   I thought I would take one of the ceremonies off her hands.

Now, why would you want to marry Theresa and me,   when deep down you know, or think you know,   that I’m making this big mistake?   Unless this was some kind of a trick.

You know what? I’m looking at this list,   and I have barely checked off any of these boxes.   We have so much to do before this ceremony.

Well, make Alex and Theresa do it.   They’re the ones that are horning in on our wedding.

You having second thoughts about sharing our big day?

Well, I mean, I know it’s too late to back out now.   But if I’m being honest,   and especially since we’ve been through a lot   to get here, Sarah,   yeah, I’d prefer the day be all about us.   – Well, it’s like you said.   It is too late to back out now.   But as we’ve talked about,   it’d be really nice if this brought your family together.

Sure. Yeah.   I mean, that’s all well and good.   As long as the young scion pays for his half of it.   I mean, really.   He should probably pick up the whole bill.   Don’t you think? Considering.   – Considering what, that he inherited all that money,   and now he’s rolling in it?

[laughs] Are we a little bit jealous?

No, I’m not jealous.   I mean, it’s like I told you.   Having tons of money is–   it’s no longer my goal in life.   I just–I want to make a good, honest living,   make my wife and my daughter proud of me.   And look how lucky I am,   marrying the woman of my dreams, again.

[laughs]

That’s all that matters.

I’m very lucky too.   I get to marry the man of my dreams,   who manages to be sexy and loving   and goofy all at the same time.

Just had to throw “goofy” in there, huh?

It’s my favorite thing.

You know, I’m gonna dig into the storage and find   that Lucha libre mask,   and I’m gonna bring back El Erótico   just to remind you how macho and suave I can be.

Mm.   I mean, I think you can accomplish that   without any mask at all.   But maybe.

[laughs]

A double wedding?   That’s the story of the century?   – Well, they don’t happen every day, you know.   – True.   But just the idea that Lady Whistleblower   would betray her readership with a story   so overly sentimental as a double snoozefest–

I’m sorry, but didn’t you have one?   A double wedding, I mean.

Did I?   Must have repressed that memory.   – Oh, you couldn’t have.   Not possible.   It was Xander and Gwen   and you and Nancy Wesley’s ex-husband, Craig.   And just as the wedding ceremony was getting going,   that drag queen crashed the hell out of it   and told everyone that you were marrying Craig for his money.   Mm, mm.   – God, that wedding was more camp than a row of tents.   –

[snorts] – Thank you for bringing up   that shameful and humiliating time in my life,   for which I hope you don’t judge me   because I’m in very serious therapy now,   working / towards becoming a more honorable   and substantial person and less of that shallow   and manipulative dirtbag that I was.

Oh, Leo, I do not judge, especially since I’ve been   that shallow, manipulative dirtbag myself, truth be told.   Anyhoo, this wedding will not have the drama   of that wedding–   at least not the drag queen part.   – Not the–well, if not the drag queen part,   then what part will this wedding have,   Ms. Bonnie Kiriakis, whose very expressive punim   is giving her away right now?   The marrying-for-the-money part?

Yeah, I just–I think I’ve said too much.

Wait, wait, wait. I’ve got it.   It’s Theresa Donovan, isn’t it?

[gasps]   Are you saying what I think you’re saying?   That she’s only marrying that minted hunk Alex   because he’s the heir to the Kiriakis fortune?

[humming strangely]

Look, I don’t know much of anything and I just–

I knew I was right about Theresa.   That lying little minx! Okay, Bonnie. Spill the tea.   I want the who, the what, the when, the where, and…

Okay.

Whatever the last one is.

Okay, okay, fine! Fine.   There have been some concerns   about Theresa’s motives for marrying Alex.   But please, I beg you,   you cannot put that in your column.

Ugh. Fine.   Though I could really use the content.   My last column was a profile   on this Canadian expat, gorgeous trainer   who adopted this doe-eyed Siamese little cat.

Aww.

That’s it.   That was the story. I thought he was gay,   possibly into me, but it turned out–   – Okay, okay. I get it. You need content.   But you have to understand, Alex is family,   and Theresa is soon to be.

Okay, fine.   Kinda like that lying little minx anyway.   She reminds me of my former BFF.

Oh, you mean G–

My beautiful Gwennie, yeah.   Yeah, whom I betrayed,   who now hates me with a vengeance, so.

[breathes deeply]   –

[clears throat]   –

[inhales] – What are you doing?

Well, though I haven’t talked to my therapist,   Dr. Evans, but I plan to,   I read in “Stop Kvetching and Get a Life”   that when you’re having terrible guilt   for having ruined a friendship,   you should inhale the shame…

[inhales deeply]   Exhale the serenity.   – Is it working?   – No. – Oh.

Anyway, although I don’t blame Theresa   for wanting Alex’s fortune and all that it can offer her,   I would marry that beefcake if all he had was a Styrofoam cup   with some loose change in it.   I mean, between him and Xander, every day is like a dry run   for another “Magic Mike,” right?

I think we may have done this out of order, Mr. Kiriakis.

Oh, well.   I thought it was pretty perfect, to be honest.   I’m just hoping that it’s not bad luck,   you know, for the bride and groom   to see each other before they walk down the aisle together   and maybe a little bit more than see each other.

[laughs]   I think you and I have had our share of bad luck.   So I say no more worrying.

What? You mean like that time right before   one of our other weddings, when Kristen stuffed you   into a bloody trunk and shipped you off to a deserted island?   – Yeah, that one–   or when you were falsely imprisoned for a murder   that you didn’t commit.   Yeah, I think, uh, the list goes on and on   and on and on and on and on.   But that’s all in the past.   It’s gonna be clear skies from now on.   You’ll see.   – A trick?   You think I’m trying to trick you?   –

[scoffs] I mean, didn’t you do exactly that   with Konstantin and Maggie?   I mean, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if,   you know, mid-ceremony you burst out of your seat,   and you accuse Theresa of embezzling money from Titan.   – You can’t be serious.   You know damn well why it went down the way it did   with Konstantin and Maggie!   And for you to not trust me because of that–   – Oh, okay.   –

[exhales] – Okay. Fine.   I am–I’m sorry for making that analogy or whatever.   But can you really blame me, Justin?   You’ve given me a whole lot of pushback about Theresa.   –

[sighs]   I can assure you, Alex, I have no ulterior motives.   I just thought it’d be nice.   That’s all.   I may not be the father of the groom,   but I just want to be a part of your special day–   but not if it doesn’t work for you.

[gentle music]

– Actually, it does work for me.   And I am sorry for accusing you of ulterior motives.   I really am.

Apology accepted.   – But I am gonna have to ask Theresa first, obviously.   I don’t think she’s gonna have a problem with it, but still.   – Okay.   – Okay? – All right.   Well, I’ll go start preparing my script for the ceremony.

All right.   Justin…   thank you.

[laughs]

Sort of been our problem, hasn’t it?

Hmm?   – We get together, and we’re–   we’re good for a while, and…

[laughs] Can’t seem to make it last.

Yeah, yeah.   Why do you think that is?

Hmm.   I don’t know.   I would say it’s probably my fault.   I think I screw up a lot.

Yeah, that’s been–no, that’s–   you can’t take all the blame.   I was so stubborn, so stubborn.   Most of the time. Almost all the time.   Also pretty unforgiving.

Okay. Yeah, you’re right.   We’re both at fault here.

[both laugh]

I just hope things are different with Alex, you know?

Yeah.   I’m rooting for you, you know.   I am, for–for both of you.

Really? You mean that?   – I do.   Despite everything, I just want you to be happy–   truly.

I want that for you too. You know that, Brady.

Hey, at least one of us found true love, right?   You deserve it. You deserve it.   I mean that.

[exhales]

I have to confess something to you.

– I–I’m–I’m sorry.   My mother is getting married tonight?   – Yeah, she was outside the bakery   going on about her wedding cake.   Wait.   You didn’t know.

No, I mean, I knew my mom was engaged to Alex Kiriakis.   But no, I didn’t realize that the wedding was tonight.

Well, it is.   And I didn’t want to spoil your mom’s special day   by telling her that her darling son is a big fat liar.   – Oh, well, thank you.   – I’ll just tell her tomorrow instead.

[unsettling music]

Sophia, please.

Like, pretty please with sugar on top?

Seriously? Do you really wanna hurt us this badly?

Well, yeah, that’s why I ratted you out the first time.   – What first time?   –

[scoffs] Hello.   How do you think Tate’s mom caught on to your plans   to sneak off on prom night?   – Oh, my God.   You told her?

[scoffs] Oops. – Oh, my God, Sophia.   How could you do something so spiteful?   – I suppose the acute sense of betrayal I felt after you let   me, your so-called best friend, make a complete fool of myself   by asking Tate to the prom when, in fact,   you two were secretly seeing each other the whole time.   Yeah, that made telling her a whole lot easier.   Do you have any idea how humiliating that was?

Sophia, look.   I-I had no intention of hurting you.   I thought that maybe you would just–you’d get with Aaron,   and then everyone would be happy.   – Really, Tate?   Even though I have never, not once,   expressed interest in Aaron?   – Okay. You know what? You’re right.   He screwed up royally, and I’ve been a terrible friend.   – We’re sorry.   We never should have lied to you.   We just–with everything that’s happened, you know,   we got so caught up in keeping this thing   between us a secret that–   I don’t know– we didn’t think about   how it would affect other people.   – Ugh, the groveling.

What are you talking about? We’re apologizing.   – So I won’t snitch on you.   Because as we both know, the stakes are kind of high.

No, that’s not–

[sighs]   Sophia, look, I’m sorry, okay?   I really am sorry.   But yeah, it’s true we don’t want you to tell our parents.   If you do, Tate’s probably gonna be shipped off   to military school, and we’ll never see each other again.   –

[inhales sharply] That sounds like a you problem.   – Sophia, we have known each other   for a very, very long time.   If our friendship ever meant anything to you,   would you just please keep our secret?   I’ll do anything.   – Anything?   – What is it you want to confess?   – Well–   – What in the world is my gorgeous bride doing here?   Shouldn’t you be getting ready for the wedding?   – Yeah, uh–   um, I was just telling Brady here that, um,   despite our differences, I’m really happy that–   that he’s coming to the wedding.   I mean, you are Tate’s father, after all.   And even if he can’t be there, I’m really glad that you can.

Hey.   Um, I’ll see you two at the ceremony.

Yeah, we’ll see you.

[sighs] Mm.   – I should–I should probably get to Sarah’s now.   – Oh, before you do, I wanted to run something by you.   – What? Did you, like, hire Ed Sheeran   to perform or something?   I know you’re a big-shot CEO.

Uh, no.   Actually, Justin offered to officiate our wedding.   I wanted to see if you had any objections.

No.   Of course not. That’s fine.   – Okay, good. Good.   I just wanted to, you know, talk with you about it first.   So it wasn’t like the prenup all over again, you know?   – Oh, yeah.   You learned your lesson, did you?

I did.   Because I just wanna be the best husband   that I possibly can be for you because I love you,   and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.

I feel exactly the same way.

[mysterious music]

[sighs]   – Can you believe our precious little girl is still asleep?

Good, she’ll be well rested for the ceremony.

What have you got there?

Just looking over our final guest list.

I see my mom never got back to us.

No.   I assume that she moved, and who knows where?   – Or maybe she just doesn’t give a damn.

Baby, I am so, so sorry   that I pressured you to reach out to her.   I didn’t–I didn’t mean to reopen old wounds.

It’s fine. I-I understand.   It was worth a shot, you know, for Victoria’s sake.

Of course.

Anyway, honestly,   it’s probably just as well that she’s not coming.   – Look, I’m sorry for wasting your time.   I didn’t realize a double wedding was,   as you say, a snoozefest.

No, hold on, Bonnie. Wait, wait, wait.

[sighs] Okay, look.   As vanilla as it is, four very straight,   very good-looking people getting married,   maybe we can find an intriguing angle here.

Intriguing angle?   Like what?   – Like, did anything scandalous happen   at the bachelor and/or bachelorette party?   Something involving drugs, strippers?   – No, they skipped all that.

Huh.   What about the ceremony?   Any inside details?

[gasps] They’re gonna have a chocolate fountain.   – Well, that’s great.   Anything else?   – Oh.

[gasps] Well, actually…

[sucks teeth]   There might be a surprise guest.   – A surprise guest, eh?   – Mm.   – Do tell.   – Xander’s mother? – Mm-hmm.   – I didn’t know he had a mother.   I mean, I guess we all have mothers,   though I think of mine as a spiritual black hole.   – Oh. Sorry to hear that. – It’s okay.   I’m learning that I’m eminently lovable despite all that.   – Oh. I’m happy for you.   That’s good.   And yes, Xander certainly does have a mother,   and she might–might– key word being “might”–   be coming to the wedding.   – And this is a surprise because?   – Mm, she and Xander have been estranged for years.   – Really? – Mm-hmm.   – Why?   – Probably because she had a drinking problem.   – Oh, so she likes to wet her beak, eh? Go on.   – Well, Sarah worked really hard to track her down,   and she finally got an address for her in Paris.   And she was all set to send her an invite.   And then I found the invite in the trash.   – Really? – Mm-hmm.   – Why would she throw it away?   – I think Theresa got in her head.   She kept discouraging her from sending Mama Cook an invite   and kept saying over and over again what a bad idea it was.

[sighs]

So then how did Mama Cook get the invite?

[tense music]   –

[giggles] – Bonnie, you didn’t!   – Guilty! –

[gasps]   – I sent it.

[laughs]   I figured Xander and Sarah would thank me later.

[chuckles]   – So they don’t know? You never told them?   – Honey, a surprise is not a surprise if no one’s surprised!   Hello!

[giggles]   – You know, there is at least one potential positive   of my mom not attending. – Hmm?

At least our open bar won’t get ransacked.

You’re terrible.

Come on.   The woman’s skipping her own son’s wedding.   I’m allowed a few barbs.

Okay.

[rapping on door]   – Hi. – Hi.   –

[sighs]   Well?   – Well what?

You don’t have anything to say?   Like, for instance, oh, I don’t know, uh,   “Thank you for letting us join in on your wedding”?

Okay.   Thank you for letting us be part of your wedding.   We are eternally grateful.   – And you are eternally beholden.   Hey, I better go get ready.

Okay.   I am so sorry about him.

Oh, it’s okay.   And thank you, Sarah, for letting us crash your wedding.

It’s no problem.   I mean, in a few hours, we’re all gonna be family.

Hmm.   – So what’s the word?   Have you run it by Theresa?

I have.   We’d love to have you perform our ceremony.   – Oh.   Well, that’s great.   I’m very happy, Alex.

Me too.   I know how much family meant to my father,   and I know this is what he’d want.   – Look, I don’t mean to speak ill of the dead,   but I really don’t give a damn what Victor would have wanted.   – I will consider keeping your little secret,   but I want something in return.   – Sure. Anything.   Just name it.   – Well, I figure since Aaron took Tate’s place   at lacrosse camp,   it’s only fair that you take mine.   – Wait, you’re going to camp?   – Not exactly.   My parents are making me get one of those pesky J-O-Bs,   waiting tables at the Bistro.   What do you think, Holls?   I’m sure Stefan DiMera won’t mind   if I give up my spot to you,   though there is one small stipulation.   I collect every last cent of your paycheck.   – Sophia, if I work your job at the Bistro,   that means that I’ll never get to see Tate.   – Sure you will, as soon as you get off work.   So what do you say?

– Ugh, I can’t believe   I have to work all summer at the Bistro.   I’m not even gonna see a single penny from it.

Holly, no. No.   It’s–I don’t want you to make such a big sacrifice.   It’s not fair to you. I’ll just go to camp.   It’s gonna be a couple of months.   – No. – Yeah.   – No way. – Holly, come on.   – “Come on” what, Tate?   Rather be doing what we’re doing now   than not see you at all.   – You sure?   – Yes, I’m sure.   We’ll just have to make the most out of the time   we do have together.   – Oh. Well, in that case–   – Come here. –

[chuckles]

[gentle music]

[laughter]   – “Lend me your ear, dear reader,   “for ’tis the summer of love here in Salem,   “as two scorching-hot couples are about to tie the knot   “in what promises to be the social event of the season.   “But let’s hope that this wedding has a happier ending   “than the last Kiriakis nuptials,   “a dumpster fire in which the would-be groom   “was shot and killed.   “Not that anyone shed a tear, since the victim   “of said shooting was responsible for the death   “of the famously witty and intimidating family patriarch,   Victor Kiriakis.”   – That man up there was a narcissist   of the highest order, a manipulative control freak.   To him, everything was a means to an end.   He could be cruel– – I didn’t think   that you were still so angry with him.   – How could I not be?   He robbed me of a son!   – Justin, I was never your son to begin with.   – And he should have never lied to me about it.   Or he shouldn’t have revealed the plot twist in his will.   – I don’t think it was a plot twist.   I think he was trying to make things right.   – Make things right?   It was too late for that.   – I know it hurt you. I-I do. I get it, and I’m sorry.   But I don’t think you should be standing here   in my father’s house and dragging his name   through the mud when he’s not here to defend himself.   – What he did was indefensible.   And I for one don’t know how you can stand there   waxing sentimental about it!

Because he was my father!

So was I, damn it!

[tense music]

[sighs]   Don’t think about it.   You and Theresa? Come on.   You were never good for one another.   You were never good.   You were…

[mysterious music]

[breathing heavily]   How are you gonna get through this wedding?   How you gonna…

[ominous music]

Come on.

[bottle clinking]

[sighs]   Aha.

[sniffs]

[groans]   – Hi. I hope I’m not late.   – No, come in. Come in. Come in.   We’re just getting started. – Oh, good.   Well, I be here bearing gifts.   I have everything from hairpins to Spandex to ibuprofen.   I got you girls covered.   – You are an angel.   Um, and the bouquets?   – Oh, damn. I’m–

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.   We will just– we’ll grab them on the way.   –

[exhales] Okay. – It’s totally fine, all right?   I now need a very hot shower.   – Um, Sarah, before you go,   there’s something I need to tell you.   It’s–it’s about Xander’s mom.

What about her?   – Well, I know you threw her invitation in the trash–   – Wait, wait, wait. – And–   – What are you talking about?   I-I didn’t throw any invitation in the trash.

[dramatic music]

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Steffy: Granddad and the kids are watching a movie.

Finn: He and donna are okay with kelly and hayes sleeping over?

Steffy: Oh, my gosh. Grandad suggested it, and he really is just a big kid himself.

Finn: [Chuckles]

Steffy: [Exhales]

Finn: A glass of wine?

Steffy: How about the whole bottle? It’s been that kind of day.

Finn: You okay?

Steffy: Just letting everything just sink in.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: We need to find out about tom and hollis, that they died both from an overdose, the same drug. And then chief baker takes sheila in for questioning? You urged him to do that.

Finn: If you asked me what I thought, I told him the truth.

Steffy: Sheila was really surprised. She thought that you were going to defend her.

Finn: The way I have in the past? It’s okay. You can say it. I’ve made a lot of allowances for my birth mother’s actions.

Steffy: But no more. You stood up for me. And our family.

Brooke: So sheila is at the police station being questioned.

Ridge: If baker’s smart, he’s gonna hold onto sheila until she tells him the truth.

Hope: Well, I’m still trying to figure out why sheila would want either of them dead.

Brooke: Maybe they had something on her. Maybe they knew something sheila didn’t want getting out.

Hope: Okay, well, like what?

Ridge: I don’t– it’s sheila. It could be anything. She’s always keeping somebody else’s secret, protecting somebody, right?

Hope: Uh, when you talked to steffy, did she mention anything about my dad?

Ridge: What? No. I’ll mention something about your dad. May I? He should get on the phone, find the best divorce lawyer in the country, and get rid of that mess he’s in. What’s he thinking? Why would he marry that woman? Did she dupe him the same way she duped finn? Probably. But you know what? At least finn was smart enough to walk away from it, because according to steffy, he was defending his wife and his kids in front of this crazy birth mother. So not all is lost. It’s a step in the right direction.

[Theme music playing]

Brooke: So, did they find more evidence that points to sheila?

Ridge: Not yet. But the toxicology report is damning. And tom and hollis, they died of the same drug, same dose. And who do you think could administer something like that? Psycho nurse. So I’m glad baker’s holding onto her. And I’m also glad that finn has seen the light.

Hope: What do you mean?

Ridge: You know what I mean. He’s always tied to sheila in some way, but I think he’s figured it out because maybe he saw that it’s affecting his marriage, so he’s stepping away from it. And maybe now he can be the husband and the father that steffy needs him to be.

Finn: I feel like a fool defending sheila so often in the past.

Steffy: There was a lot of conflicting emotions, and finn, I– I know you. I care about people.

Finn: But that’s no excuse. Too many times I’ve left you feeling unheard. Your concerns were very real. I’m sorry.

Steffy: Hey, hey, it’s okay. That’s behind us now. I mean, you were there for me when it mattered today. You were there for kelly and hayes and, like I said, you stood up for us. And I love you so much for it. Always dry scoop before you run.

Ridge: Steffy loves finn. Some of the choices he’s made.

Brooke: Where sheila’s concerned.

Ridge: Yeah, where sheila’s concerned. He always gives her the benefit of the doubt. He should have pushed her away a long time ago.

Hope: Well, he would have if she wasn’t his birth mother.

Ridge: Li is his mother. She’s the one that raised him when he was a kid. Am I wrong?

Brooke: Thank god. If sheila didn’t give him up, she would have raised him. Can you imagine the life he would have had?

Ridge: What’s the difference? He still let her into his life after he knew who she was. He should have pushed her away, told her to go away, and maybe he wouldn’t have this problem. Maybe she would’ve gotten the message. Or maybe not. It’s sheila. I don’t know.

Brooke: Yeah, you know sheila. When lines are drawn, she manages to step right over them or erase them completely, especially when finn is involved.

Ridge: Well, that’s it. Steffy can see what sheila’s doing, and she wants finn to see it, as well.

Brooke: But he couldn’t cut sheila out of his life. Not completely.

Ridge: But that’s it. This is the problem. Steffy thinks that he can’t be the husband and the father that she needs.

Hope: Steffy shouldn’t have to question his commitment and love to their family. I mean, it’s– it’s pretty obvious. Steffy is lucky to be married to a man like finn. She’s very lucky.

Steffy: Sheila’s always been her own worst enemy. Like nothing is ever enough. She’s never satisfied with what she has.

Finn: You mean her, like, her life with deacon?

Steffy: That I will never understand. Like, how could he love a woman like that? And honestly, after everything that’s happened, I really thought that maybe, just maybe, sheila could change and be, like, a better wife. But no. Now she’s implicated in this very suspicious death, and– at her husband’s restaurant. Like, this is gonna be really bad business for him.

Finn: Oh. Yeah and he might have to lock his doors up soon. He’s gonna lose everything he worked for.

Steffy: All because she killed two men that ticked her off for some reason.

Finn: Well, and I’ve been trying to figure out, like, what that reason would be. Why would she go after tom and hollis?

Steffy: Finn, you’re not–

Finn: No.

Steffy: Okay.

Finn: No, I meant every word I said to baker earlier. Yes, I believe in second chances, but everywhere that sheila goes, bad things happen, and it would be irresponsible to just take her word when she says that she had nothing to do with tom and hollis’ deaths.

Steffy: In all likelihood, she did it. But you know, she’s not gonna cop to it.

Finn: Hey, it’s up to the cops now. But whatever they find out, just never forget that you and the kids will always be my priority.

[Cellphone chimes]

Ridge: Oh, no, I forgot. I have a meeting with the mayor. I gotta go. I’m sorry.

Brooke: Oh, no, that’s okay. Yeah. Of course.

Ridge: Bye.

Brooke: Oh… oh, my gosh. With all this drama swirling around about sheila, of course we’re gonna forget things like that.

Hope: I’m just– my mind’s on dad. I hope he’s okay. But do you think I should go and check on him or–?

Brooke: No, no, just let things settle down a bit. Besides, he’s probably at the police station cheerleading for sheila. But now I can have a moment alone with you.

Hope: Oh, did you want to talk about something?

Brooke: Well, I just wanna see how you’re doing.

Hope: Ah, you mean now that paris has left with thomas and douglas?

Brooke: I know how you miss douglas when he’s not around.

Hope: I do. Terribly. And I will always be his mother. But, mom, you should know that thomas made it a point to say to me that he wants to prioritize our relationship, that he’s not trying to keep my son from me, so…

Brooke: Okay.

Hope: You’ll also be happy to know I– I have come to terms with their engagement.

Brooke: You have?

Hope: Yes. I gave thomas my blessing, and I wished him the best.

Brooke: Oh…

Hope: So, I mean, it’s not… easy to accept the fact that he has moved on with paris, but, um… I don’t– I don’t know. Maybe he’s right. Maybe we were never meant to be.

Hope: Wait, wait. What do you mean, who’s right? Thomas?

Hope: No. Finn.

Hope: Finn believes that I can do better than thomas, and I know you felt the same way.

Brooke: Okay, well, now I’m not concerned about thomas. I’m concerned about your feelings for finn.

Hope: Mom, relax. We’re just– we’re good friends.

Brooke: Honey, things can happen, things that you never intend to. A perfectly innocent moment could suddenly ignite. I want you to be careful around him. I really do. He’s happily married, honey.

Hope: Well, I mean, according to steffy.

Brooke: According to finn, he loves steffy.

Hope: [Sighs] I know, I know.

Brooke: I just don’t want you to do something that you’re going to regret.

Hope: Mom, I– I can handle it. Besides, I am well aware that finn is devoted to steffy. She would never let me forget that fact.

Brooke: Okay, well, don’t forget they have a family, too.

Hope: I am also aware of that, but so… is finn not allowed to have friends?

Brooke: Yes, of course.

Hope: So we’re good friends. And it’s through that friendship that I have come to realize that I am deserving of a man who is intelligent, loyal, capable. A man just for me.

Brooke: Yes, and that man won’t be finn.

Hope: No, I mean, if finn happened to have an identical twin brother who was available, I mean, I wouldn’t complain. But, uh, since that is not a possibility and finn is married to steffy…

Brooke: Somebody that you’ve been at odds with lately.

Hope: Who I will probably always be at odds with. I just don’t want that to affect my relationship with finn.

Steffy: As much as I miss the kids, it’s really nice to have a night to ourselves.

Finn: Yeah, especially after the day we’ve had.

Steffy: [Groans] But you did the right thing. Telling chief baker what you did. And, yeah, even though sheila is your birth mother, this is a woman who shot you. And I think about all the things she’s done to us. I mean, even your real mother, she drove her off the road. And now tom and hollis.

Finn: Hey, honey, we have better things to do than talk about this. Especially when I’m lying here with the sexiest wife in the world. I have an idea.

Steffy: Go on.

Finn: No more talk. Let’s get you out of these clothes. Honestly, I was scared when I was told age

Brooke: Sweetheart, we’ve had a lot of conversations about finn. You’ve admitted to me that you’re attracted to him.

Hope: Well, would you rather I had lied and just told you what you wanted to hear?

Brooke: I’m glad that you were honest with me. I just want you to be honest with yourself. Finn is off limits.

Hope: Oh, my gosh. I realize that.

Brooke: He is married to a woman that you’ve had a history with, especially dealing with men.

Hope: Well, what can I say? We have similar tastes.

Brooke: Okay, well, you’ve been on a collision course before in the past, and now it’s with finn. Just want to make sure that you don’t make the same mistakes I’ve made. I know you said that you don’t want to.

Hope: I’m sorry if I offended you with that.

Brooke: No, no, I totally understand. I don’t want you to, either, sweetie. I just know you’re in a very vulnerable place right now. First thomas, now finn. I wanna make sure you can handle things.

Hope: Mom, finn is important to me as a friend. He listens. He’s sensitive to what I’m going through. He has been incredibly supportive of me during this difficult time, and I value that. And I’ve come to admire him as a man. In many ways. +

Finn: I don’t know about you, but… I think we needed that.

Steffy: [Chuckles] Yeah, we definitely did. Never got enough alone time. Especially with our… two rambunctious kids. It’s not just the kids, though. I mean… it’s my crazy schedule at the hospital. And, like, I know it’s probably not easy being the wife of a doctor. Not that you’d ever complain. Hey, promise me something. Never doubt or question the love I have for you.

Steffy: I don’T. And after today, the way you stood up for me, our family– that means the world to me.

Finn: I love you.

Finn: Well, I know you’re pulling for me.

Hope: Yeah, I just want what’s best for you.

Finn: Well, I appreciate it.

Hope: I’m just glad that you’re comfortable sharing all this with me. Thank you. And… I don’t know, just continue to prove that you’re such an incredible man. So, thanks.

Brooke: But things can happen, honey. Things that you never intended to. A perfectly innocent moment could… suddenly ignite. Just be careful. Very careful where finn’s concerned.

Hope: [Sighs]

It’s always enjoyable to speak with these actors and producers! They’re a good crew, both on- and off-screen. I’m a huge scifi fan, and I like how Devlin’s shows always have a lot of fun and action as well as good characters and drama. Season Two has even more going on than season one. It’s the TV equivalent of a popcorn movie. Sit back and enjoy! Season 2 starts tonight, 7/17,  10/9c on Syfy.

Lois tells Carly the love story of Gio’s parents. Lois explains to Carly that Gio’s mother Camila was a talented violinist who came to the United States from Italy to play for the New York Philharmonic and six months later she met and fell in love with Francis. Camilla and Francis were married before he left for the army. Francis was killed in battle before Gio was born. Camilla gave birth to Gio and returned to the philharmonic, but Camila died when Gio was 10 years old, so Lois asked Sonny to help with Gio. Sonny paid for Gio’s education until recently when Gio got a scholarship to PCU. Carly wonders why Sonny never mentioned Gio to her at all.

Sonny and Nina apologize for hurting each other in the past and wish each other the best.

Nina tells Maxie that, after her talk with Sonny, she realizes that she and Sonny were never right for each other and now she thinks it’s time she moved on with her life.

Natalia persuades Sonny to start a private record label so Blaze can release new music. Natalia wants to be in charge of the record label, but Sonny tells Brook Lynn to be in charge of the record label.

Anna tells Valentin that she can’t go on the run with him and Charlotte because she won’t leave her family. Valentin tells Anna that, after they broke up, he didn’t have a reason to try to be a good person, so when she arrested Brennan, he became the head of Pikeman. Anna and Valentin kiss goodbye and she leaves Valentin’s house.

John tries to persuade Jason to give him information on Sonny, but Jason reminds him that was not part of their deal. Jason gives John Valentin’s satellite evidence on Pikeman phone and John goes to Valentine’s house to arrest him, but he and Charlotte are already gone. Jason goes to the Metro Court to tell Carly he gave John evidence on Pikeman and this long ordeal has ended.

John Cates asks Ava to testify against Sonny in the case he is building against Sonny. Ava tells John she will think about it and contact him when she has made a decision.

Willow once again asks Sonny to forgive Michael and repair their father-son relationship. Sonny tells Willow he will think about it because he admires her for being tenacious and kind.

Sonny asks Nina to testify on his behalf if Ava should subpoena her for Avery’s custody hearing. Nina doesn’t think Ava would call her as a witness because they are no longer friends but, if Ava did call her as a witness, she would tell the court that Avery was a wonderful father and that Avery adores him. Sonny wonders if Nina would be willing to bury the hatchet with him just like she has buried the hatchet with Drew.

Gio turns down an opportunity to play violin for a Broadway soundtrack in New York because he likes PCU and doesn’t want to go back on his commitment to play violin for the college ‘s summer concert series.

Drew promises Nina that the kiss between him and Willow will never happen again.

Anna makes Jason promise not to give the FBI Valentin’s satellite phone with the proof that he is head of Pikeman until she has time to warn him because she doesn’t want Charlotte to lose her father. Jason gives Anna the two hours she asked him for to warn Valentin.

John gets a call from his boss who tells him they have gotten word that Pikeman is sending a big shipment and they must know the head of Pikeman tonight.

Anna tells Valentin that he must leave town with Charlotte tonight because she told the FBI he is the head of Pikeman. Valentin asks Anna to go on the run with him.

John pounds on the door of Jason’s room and tells him he must tell him everything he knows about the head of Pikeman right now or he loses his deal and Carly will go to prison.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[gentle music]

[phone ringing]

Hey, Johnny.

Hey. How’s it going?

Oh, so busy, I can barely breathe.   But other than that–

You’re not pushing yourself too hard, are you?

I’m fine.   And since Dr. Greene says that there is   no reason why I can’t get back to work,   I want to reopen Sweet Bits ASAP.

OK.   Are you sure you don’t just want me  to come down there and help?   I mean, while you’re short-staffed   and I’m unemployed?

No, thank you.   I think you’d just be more of a distraction than anything.

Eh, I’m sure you could find something for me to do.   I’m a man of many talents, as you well know.

That’s true.   But unless those talents include piping frosting  on cupcakes or making a Hogwarts cake  out of fondant, then I think  you should just let me do my thing.

Hiya.

Oh.   Love you. Gotta go.

Hi. I’m so sorry.   I didn’t mean to interrupt your call.

No, no, no. It’s fine.   Uh, what can I do for you?

I’m really hoping you can help me,   and it’s kind of an emergency.

[birds cawing]

[knocks]

Hi.

Hi.

[exhales]   I didn’t hear you.

[laughs]

Yeah. Yeah, I can’t imagine why.

[chuckles]   I brought you a present, though.

What is this?

Figured you might be missing your Buddy’s   fix out here on Smith Island.

Aw.   Yeah, sure, I missed my Buddy’s,   but I missed you a lot more.

[chuckles]

Hey, Alex. Is Maggie here?

No.   She ran out to do some errands for the wedding.   But I’ll let her know you stopped by.

OK. Yeah.   I wanted to– I wanted to check on her.   I know she’s busy with Xander and Sarah’s   big day and everything,   but with everything that went down with Konstantin,   and the whole idea of a wedding,   I thought that might be traumatic for her.

No, for sure.   Well, hopefully after tonight,   we can make some better memories   for her and for all of us.

We?

[soft dramatic music]   – I guess you didn’t hear.   It’s gonna be a double wedding.   Theresa and I are getting married tonight too.

[sighs]   – It’s a little early for a drink, don’t you think?

It’s : somewhere.

Hmm.   What’s that?

Ah.   That is a petition from Nicole’s attorney,   suing me for divorce.

– Look who’s here. It’s your mommy.   – Yes.   Hi, little man.   Were you a good boy for your daddy?   Huh? – Sure was.   He went right down.   He slept through the night, unlike his daddy.   – Oh.   You kept checking on him?

Yeah, to make sure I wasn’t dreaming   that he was still here. – Oh.

You know? Thank you.   Thank you for letting him stay here.

Of course.   He’s your son.   Oh, my little angel.   I know it was only one night,   but Mommy missed you like crazy.

[laughter]   Aw.

[gentle music]

[soft orchestration]   announcer: Like sands through the hourglass,   so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

– How are you doing?   – I stayed at the Salem Inn last night…   after I left EJ.

[chuckles]   And now I’ve just got to find a place big enough   for me and my daughter and Jude–   you know, when he’s not with you.

[laughs]   How’s Holly taking it?   I mean, me being Jude’s dad?

Well, I mean, Eric, she adores you.   She’s really happy for you.   But she’s been grounded a lot lately.   So she’s miserable, obviously.

Yeah, she told me.

She did?

Yeah, I ran into her.   And let’s just say she needed to vent a little.

Well, thank you for letting her vent.   I’m sure it was mostly about me.

No, no, it wasn’t.   I mean, she’s a smart kid.   Loves you very much, Nicole.   You know that.

Yeah, I do.   I love her too, with all my heart.   And I let her stay at a friend’s last night   because I needed some time alone to think things through.

Yeah.   What are you gonna do?

Well, I, uh–   I called my lawyer,   and I had him serve EJ divorce papers.

[dramatic music]   Because he and I, we’re–   We’re done.

Look, Dad, you–   you can’t be that surprised that Nicole   wanted a divorce, right?   I mean, once she–   you know, once she took Jude and Holly and moved out,   it seemed kind of inevitable.   Don’t you think?

Mm.

[sighs]

[clears throat] It did, yes.   And, Johnny, I assume you’re quite upset with me.

[soft dramatic music]

Well, I feel horrible for Nicole,   obviously, and for Eric.   And beyond that, I mean, I thought   that I had a little brother.   I told everyone that I know how happy I was   that you got your son back and that we’d be   raising our babies together.

I’m sorry I let you believe that.

Yeah.   Yeah, me too.   Anyway, now none of it’s gonna happen, so…

[sighs]

An emergency?

Yes.   So I know that you just reopened,   and I know this is really last minute,   but, um, I desperately need a wedding cake.

Oh, OK. When’s the wedding?

Today.

Today?

Mm-hmm. Yeah. OK.   See, so Alex and I, we got engaged,   and we were planning on having a wedding   in a couple of months,   but then we agreed on having this double wedding   with Xander and Sarah.

Oh, OK.   Um, well, why don’t you just share the wedding cake   that I made for them? It’s definitely big enough.

Oh, it is.   And it’s gorgeous.   It’s just, uh, there’s just this little tiny problem.   It’s a spice cake.

And you hate spice.

Uh-huh. Yeah. I’m sorry.

No, no, no, no, no, no. I get it.   I’m not a fan either.

No, you know?   I just don’t want to gag, you know,   when I have that first slice that Alex feeds me.   So I’m really hoping that we can just have our own cake.

OK, um, well, what are you thinking?   How big would you want it? What flavor?   What kind of icing?   – Honestly, as long as it’s not spice cake,   I’m good with anything.   –

[laughs] All right.   Um, let me see what I can do.   – Oh!   – Hopefully they’re not too cold.   I don’t think there’s a microwave here.   – Oh, these are great, even cold.   Mm.   –

[laughs]   – You know, I never thought that I would see the inside   of the mythical Horton cabin.   It’s beautiful.   It’s peaceful.

Mm.   Boring.   – No, not with you around.   I’m telling you, it’s the perfect   summer hideout. There’s the lake.   There’s hiking.   The ferry makes it easy to get back and forth to Salem.   – Mm-hmm.   I’m just glad it was available.

Yeah, no kidding.

Oh, have you heard anything from Aaron yet?

Uh, just that he ran six miles today at lacrosse camp.

Wow.   You’re gonna be in great shape when you get back.

Oh, most definitely.

[chuckles]

[laughs] By the way, thank you so much   for saving me from what would have been   the worst summer of my life.

Of course.   I mean, it wouldn’t have been that great for me either.   I just hope our parents never find out   we’re here at the Horton cabin.

How would they?   As long as we’re careful, they’ll never know.

[tender music]

– You and Theresa are getting married tonight?

Yeah.

When– when did that happen?

Well, we just decided.

[laughs] You look shocked.

Uh, no, no.   I’m not shocked, Alex.   I’m just, uh– that was fast.

Yeah, well, you said the same thing when we got engaged.

I did.   Um, that’s because that was only a few days ago.

Well, look.   This was Bonnie’s idea to do the double wedding,   and Theresa said there was really   no reason for us to wait.

So did–   I mean, did Theresa push for this?

No, she didn’t– she didn’t push.   She just said that it was a good idea,   and I agreed with her, and–   I mean, Xander and Sarah have done all the work.   The guest list is already overlapping,   so it kind of made sense.

I thought you hated Xander’s guts.

We’ve definitely had our differences, yeah,   but Maggie is hoping that this big family event   might bring us all together and help eliminate   some of the baggage.

That’s a lot of baggage.

Speaking of, Brady, I know you and I have gone through it   the past few months.   So if you are uncomfortable being there today   to support Theresa and I, I’m sure Xander   and Sarah will understand if you rescind your RSVP.

[soft dramatic music]

Actually, yeah, I don’t want to–   I don’t want to–   I don’t want to crash your big wedding, man.   I don’t want to ruin your day.   So please give Xander and Sarah my deepest regrets.

[exhales]

Brady, don’t get me wrong, man.   I’m not hinting at the idea that I don’t want you   to come to our wedding.   I just want to give you the option of just bowing out   if you’re uncomfortable.

[sighs] Alex, actually, you know,   I am a little bit, truthfully.   Partly because I should have–   I should have never had the idea that Theresa was,   you know, just gonna marry you for the money,   and I– look, the two of you can’t be happy   that I even said something like that.

It’s fine.   Honestly, I’m done being upset over it,   and I’d be lying to you if I told you that thought   never crossed my mind.

And the fact– look, the fact that she’s willing   to sign this prenup… – Yeah.

That pretty much proves me wrong.   – Yeah.   – Look, man, you– you’re a smart, successful,   decent-looking guy. – Ah!

[laughs]   – There’s a lot of reasons why Theresa   would want to marry you.   – Well, thank you for the ego boost, my man.

Hey.   – And hey, if you accept the fact that Theresa is not   marrying me for my money, and really just because of   how amazing and awesome I am… – Alex.   –

[laughs]   Why wouldn’t you want to be there to watch us   tie the knot together, man?   Unless there’s another reason why you’d be uncomfortable   coming to our wedding.

[tense music]

– OK, so chocolate cake,   raspberry filling, and a monogram design.   – Oh, that is perfect.   Thank you so much, Chanel.   – Yeah, uh, let me go check and see if I have everything   to make that happen. I’ll be right back.   – Oh, Ms. Donovan. – Oh.   Hi, Sophia. – Hi.   Um, I was wondering if I could talk   to you about Holly and Tate.

– Hey, sorry I couldn’t make it last night.   By the time I felt I could leave my mom,   I’d missed the last ferry.

I just still can’t believe that EJ pretended   that my Uncle Eric’s kid was his.

I know.   I feel so bad for Eric and my mom.

Hey, how are you doing in all this?

You know, after all the lies EJ said, I–   I’m totally in my mom’s corner.   I know she and I haven’t really been getting along lately,   but this was just so wrong.

Yeah.   Kind of blew up your whole family.

Yeah.   But it’s not– it’s not really about that,   at least not for me.   I mean, the only time I ever felt like   I had a real family was when Eric was my stepdad, so…

Do you think that there is a chance?   – That Eric and my mom might get back together?   – Sure. – Who knows?   I’m just glad to be away from all that drama,   even if it’s for a little while.   And is it horrible to say that the timing   kind of works out perfect for us?   I mean, I can’t be grounded if I don’t have a home, right?

Yeah, and your mom’s not worried   about you seeing me because I’m away at lacrosse camp.

Exactly.   But enough talking about that.   Now that we’re finally alone, what should we do?

[soft dramatic music]

Johnny, I am so sorry you were hurt.

Oh, you mean you’re sorry that you hurt me.   I think that would be the appropriate thing to say.

[sighs]   I am sorry that I hurt you–   and a lot of other people, too.

[scoffs] It’s just–   look, I’ve done some crazy things, OK,   to hang on to a relationship, Dad,   but Uncle Eric is, like, the nicest guy on the planet.   How could you let him hand you his child?

I am not going to relitigate this with you, son,   nor am I going to try and justify my actions to you.

Yeah, well, good because you can’t.   And I know you know that.

I do.

– You know, I remember when I was a little kid,   and I’d do something wrong,   and you’d look at me, and you’d tell me   how disappointed you were in me.   Well, now I know how you felt.

Divorce, that’s– that’s a big step.   Nicole, you don’t think you need more time   to think it through?   – Well, how much time did you take   to end your marriage with Sloan?

None.

Yeah.

But–

Because what EJ did to me, and to you, and to our son   is just as bad as what she did.   I mean, he’s lived in your home,   and then he was in our home.   And who knows where he’s gonna end up next?   I mean, Eric, we’re gonna have to figure out   a custody arrangement.   I mean, unless–   – Unless?

[gentle music]   – Are you still planning to move to Paris?

– My dad asked me the same question.   I said I didn’t know.   I– that I needed to talk to you about that.

– Alex, I just– look, I just think   it’ll be awkward for Theresa if I’m at your wedding.   – Why?

[chuckles]   You told me that our being together was good for you,   that your relationship with Theresa was toxic–   unless you didn’t mean that.

No, no, I– no, I meant that. – OK.   – We– we–   Theresa and I, we haven’t always brought out   the best in each other.

Yeah.   – But she– look, she has moved on,   and I have as well. – Yeah.   –

[sniffs]   – We can just celebrate this connection   that you and I have, and we can just have this   great old lovely time together.   – Lovely time together.   Yeah, you are– you are really aiming high on this one.   You know that?   – Why not?   I know you’re not seeing anyone.   So I bet you are really lonely,   and I bet you would like   to have some companionship.   – You know what?   – Hmm?

Alex, I’m gonna–   I’m gonna– I’m gonna do a total  on this.   We’re family. We’re family.   And if you don’t have a problem with me being there,   yeah, man, I’d love to be at your wedding.   – Done. Done.   It’s settled. Good.   I’ll see you there.

Great, man.   Great.

So I–

OK, Sophia.   Before you say anything, I just–   I want to apologize for the way my son treated you.   I know that must have been so hard for you to tell me   that Tate was seeing Holly behind my back,   but I am so glad that you did.

I’m cool with Tate.   Actually, I– I blame Holly.   She was supposed to be my BFF.   And she knew I liked Tate,   but she didn’t bother to tell me   she was in a relationship with him.   – Mm-mm.   God, I just– I cannot stand that girl.

[sighs]   But look, if it’s any consolation,   they are gonna be really far away from each other   this summer because we’ve just sent Tate   to lacrosse camp in New York.

[dramatic music]

[fireworks exploding]

– So is everything a go?   – My mom is totally on board with me   going away to lacrosse camp.   And since Aaron agreed to take my spot–

That means we’ll be able to spend   the whole summer together.

And no one will ever know.

[fireworks exploding]

– Ms. Donovan, there’s something you should know.

– You know, there’s not a lot to do here.   Um, I found some board games over there.

Oh, which ones?

Uh…   the Game of Life.

Oh, my God, my Grandma Maggie and I   used to play this all the time. I always won.

Maybe because she let you?   – Uh, no.   My Grandpa Victor used to call her cutthroat.   – OK. Sure.

I swear.   And she is.   But so am I, actually.   I take after her.

Oh, yeah?

Oh, yeah.   So do you want to play or what?

[soft dramatic music]

– Look, Dad, I don’t mean to kick you   while you’re down here, OK?   I understand that it sucks that you lost Nicole,   that you lost Jude, and you lost the CEO position   to Aunt Kristen. I know that.   – I may lose my DA job as well, if I’m charged as an accessory   after the fact.   – Well, I hope that doesn’t happen.

[tender music]

– Thank you for saying that.   – Look, Dad, I am mad at you right now.

But that doesn’t mean that   I’m not always gonna have your back,   the same way you’ve always had mine.   You’re my dad.

– And you’re my loyal son.

I’m sorry I wasn’t as supportive of   Chanel’s pregnancy as you needed me to be.   – Yeah.   You came around eventually.   – Speaking of, are you and Chanel   still thinking of getting a place of your own?

– Uh, we haven’t really talked about it, honestly.

Well, I–   I would understand if you wanted to put   some distance between us,   but I just wanted you both to know   that you’re more than welcome to stay here   for as long as you wish.   In fact, it would mean   a great deal to me if you did.

– Well, uh, obviously it’d be   a lot easier to share custody of Jude if you were–   were here in Salem,   but after everything you’ve been through, Eric,   I don’t want you to give up anything because of me.   – I was leaving because it was too painful   for me to be around Jude,   but now that I know he’s mine–   –

[chuckles]

[tender music]   You could stay.   And I’m sure Chad and Xander would love   to have you back at “the Spectator.”   I know I would.   And I know it’s not Paris, but–   – I just wanted a fresh start.

There’s no reason why I can’t have that   with Jude…

And with you.

– What about Tate and Holly?   – Well, the other day, I was at the park, and I–   – Oh, I’m so sorry, Sophia.   Just give me a second. Hi.   So can you do it?

Uh, so I can do the cake and the frosting,   but the filling has got to be chocolate mousse.

That is totally fine.   Thank you so much.

Yeah, yeah, of course.   And I promise you that your wedding cake   will be made with love.   – You’re an angel.   You know that?   You are.

You’re getting married?

Yeah, I am.   Today, actually.

Congrats.

Thank you.   So I’m sorry for the interruption.   What– what did you want to tell me?   – It’s your big day, so it can wait.   Um, it’s– it’s not important. – No, no, no, no.   If this is about Tate and Holly, I–

It’s really nothing.   Enjoy your wedding.

[bright acoustic music]

Seven, eight, nine.   Are you serious?   – Told you, you should’ve got the insurance.

K? That’s crazy.   I don’t have that kind of money.   I have triplets, and I just lost my job.   You– you have that kind of money.   Why don’t you just– why don’t you just   give me some money?

No, no.   That’s not how the Game of Life works.   So how about you call it quits and say I’m the winner?   – No. OK, fine, yes.   You win.   OK.   Do you, uh– do you want to play something else?   – How about trivia?

[bright music]   – Oh.   Yeah.   Yeah, sure.   Do you, uh– are you always this competitive?   – Yeah, only when I want to win.   I told you I take after my Grandma Maggie.

[chuckles] OK.

Ready? – Yeah.   All right.   Three, two, one, go.   Uh, OK.   Um, like…

– OK.   That’s  for me, and, uh,  for you.   – Was that even movie trivia?   I mean, there wasn’t a single name   from this century.   Danny Kaye, Gary Cooper, Macdonald Carey?   – At least you got Dick Van Dyke.   – How do you even know all these old movies anyway?

Oh, I used to watch a ton of them   when I had a thing for this guy who’s this big movie buff.

[chuckles]   – You mean Johnny DiMera?

[soft dramatic music]   – Chanel and I are not gonna live here forever.   We’ll stay a little while longer.   I know you’ve lost a lot, Dad.   You know, I know.   But you’re not gonna lose me–   not ever.

[tender music]

– That means the world to me, son.

– Well, um, I should get going.   I, uh– Chanel told me to stay away from the bakery   because she’s so busy, but I’m gonna go see   if I can take her to lunch. –

[chuckles]   You’re a good husband, Johnny.   That is something that you definitely   did not learn from me.   – Eh, I don’t know.   Maybe you just haven’t found the right person yet.   You and Nicole just weren’t meant to be.   Obviously.

I think you should sign those divorce papers   and move on.   –

[sighs]   I’ll take that under advisement.

You’re gonna be OK, Dad.   I’m sure of it.   –

[sighs]

[somber music]

– So you’re really staying here in Salem?

Jude’s been moved around too much already.

Are you sure?

I’m positive, Nicole.   If we’d found out that he was mine   when you were first pregnant–   – Things would have been a lot different.   – Yeah.   And if I’m being honest, I–   I wanted to put some distance between us, because–   – Because whenever we’re together,   we can never seem to get it right.

[sighs] You know…   when EJ and I committed to each other, I–   I think he knew that I never really got over you.

And maybe that’s why he went to such extremes   to hold on to our marriage.

– Did you know that, too?

In my heart of hearts, I did.

[exhales]

Hey, you.   I saw you lurking over there.

Yeah.   I was about to come in and see if I could take   my wife out to a late lunch.   – Mm, I wish you could, but I am so swamped.   – Oh, come on. You still got to eat.   – Yes, I know.   And I have been eating very well all day, I promise.   But it is really sweet of you to check up on me.

Am I smothering you?

[chuckles] A little bit, but I like it.

OK.

[bright acoustic music]   – Tate, I didn’t mean to bring up Johnny.   Actually, I tried not to, but you guessed him anyways.

Well, yeah.   I mean, when you said movie buff–   hey, it’s not like I didn’t know   that you had a thing for him.   He’s all you talked about when we first met.   – Yeah, I know. I remember.   And he was super into Chanel.   So it was just a dumb crush, a stupid fantasy.   – So what am I?   – You are very real,   and I’m so lucky I have you now.

[dramatic music]

– It’ll mean a lot to Theresa to have you there tonight.

[sighs] I’m not so sure about that.   – Not so sure about what? – Hey.   I was just telling Brady how happy you’ll be to know   that he’s coming to our wedding.   – Why would you not be sure about that?   Of course, I want you there.   – Is that the dress?

It is. – Oh, my God.   I cannot wait to see you in it.

[laughter]   Look, I know we’ve had a whole lot of ups and downs,   but I truly am hoping that after this wedding,   we can all come together as family.   – Me too.

[soft dramatic music]

– I’ve–   I’ve never admitted this out loud to anyone.   So here it goes.

If I had known Jude was ours back then…   And you would have taken me back…   I would have left EJ.

[gentle music]

– From the moment   that I found out you were pregnant,   I wished, I–   I prayed that baby was mine.

And I did want the same thing that you did.

[knocking]   –

[exhales]

[tense music]

– So…

[sighs]   I’ve ordered the wedding cake. It’s all ready.   And now I just need to get ready.

Good. We probably both should.

[phone ringing]   Oh.   Oh, I have to take this.   Um, OK.   I’m gonna take off, but I will see you at the altar.   – Mm-hmm.   – Mm. Mm.

[phone beeps]   – I didn’t know that you were getting married today.

[soft dramatic music]   – Yeah, I didn’t know that either…   till the other night.

[clears throat]   I know that– that you’re on   Xander and Sarah’s guest list.   So I really– I should have just told you,   given you a heads up.

I– I told you before, I’m–   I’m happy for the two of you.

Great.   So there’s no problem then.

And again, I’m–   I’m really sorry that I brought up   the whole money thing to Alex.   – It’s OK.   You’ve already apologized. I get it.   And you know my history.   –

[laughs]   I do, but I also know that you–   You have a huge heart.   Alex is a really lucky guy.

[sighs]   I’m really sorry things didn’t work out between us, Brady.   I am.   You are always gonna be   so, so very special to me.   I mean, you’re Tate’s dad.   Oh, my God.   Oh, my God, Tate. – What?

[gasps]

What?

Oh, my God.

Theresa.

Um– oh!   When Alex and I got engaged,   I just assumed that Tate would come home from camp   for the big day, but when we agreed   to this double wedding, I–   I didn’t even think about the fact   that Tate wasn’t gonna be in town.   I can’t– I can’t get married without my son.   Brady, I need– I need Tate.   I need my son there at my wedding.

[dramatic music]

[knocking]   –

[whispers] Oh, my God.

Who– who is that?   – I don’t know.   Just be quiet, and maybe they’ll go away.   – Tate? Holly?   I know you’re both in there.

And you two are so busted.

– Johnny. – Mm-hmm?   – You know the bakery is my dream,   but I want you to follow your dreams too.   We could still move to LA.   – No. No, not a chance, Chanel.   I’m not even thinking about that right now, OK?   And my dad just asked me if we’re still looking   for a place of our own here, which we’re gonna do, OK?   – OK, sure.   You know, just as soon as I get the bakery back up   and running full speed.   – I mean, not that he probably minds having us in the house   for a little while, anyway.   I think he’s, uh–   he’s a little lonely.

Mm. Yeah, I’m sure he is.   Any chance he and Nicole can get past this?   –

[exhales] No.   No, I don’t–   She’s already served him with divorce papers.   I, uh–

[clears throat]   I told him he should   just sign them, move on.   I don’t know. I just–   I guess I just hope he takes my advice.   – Mm.   Yeah, I thought I’d find you here.   – What are you doing here, EJ?   – I brought the divorce papers.   – You didn’t sign them.   – No, I– I did not, nor do I plan to.

[dramatic music]

If you two think I’m going to just roll over   and let you take that child and go wandering off   into the sunset together,   well, I’m afraid you are sadly mistaken.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Steffy: Tom and hollis died from overdosing on the same drug at the same location.

Li: Yes. And comparing to tom’s report, the exact same level of toxicity. Steffy: Oh, my god.

Li: That’s not a coincidence. Steffy: No. Sheila murdered them. I mean, she was a nurse, a medical professional. She knows all about dosing. Finn, she needs to be stopped before she hurts someone else.

Li: Stephy’s right, finn. This only further implicates sheila.

Sheila: Look at me. Deacon. I know that you hurt over what happened to tom and–and hollis, but–

Deacon: I’m not hurt. I’m freaking out. They are my friends–

Sheila: Look, it was a tragedy. It was a tragedy what happened to the two of them. But I don’t want you to let your mind run wild with thoughts of murder.

Baker: Did somebody say murder?

Deacon: Chief baker.

Baker: In the flesh. I have questions about the two recent deaths in your establishment.

Hope: So no word from steffy?

Ridge: Nope.

Brooke: She has to be at the hospital by now. I’m hoping she’ll have some answers soon.

Hope: Gosh, it just feels like yesterday I was at dad and sheila’s wedding. Tom was officiating. Hollis was making sure everything was perfect about the day, and… I don’t know. I just don’t understand how they’re gone.

Ridge: What don’t you understand? It’s sheila. I don’t know how or why, but she killed those men.

Ridge: I don’t know why sheila does what she does. She’s a psychopath. There’s never a reason for what she’S… what she’s doing. Two people are dead at el giardino’s because of her.

Carter: Sounds like you’ve heard the latest.

Brooke: Hollis. It’s a tragedy.

Carter: Yeah. My contact at the police department reached out. I have information about what killed them. It was an overdose.

Baker: Shouldn’t leave your door open like that. Been a lot of death around here recently.

Deacon: We’re feeling the loss.

Baker: That’s why I’m here. Two of your employees have died in your restaurant, deacon. We need to investigate that.

Deacon: I understand. And they weren’t just employees. They were my friends.

Baker: I need to find out exactly what happened with both men.

Li: We all know this is sheila’s doing. I was just on my way to confront her at il giardino.

Steffy: I was planning to do the same.

Finn: If sheila killed these men and is back to her old ways, is having an altercation with her wise?

Steffy: Since when has standing by waiting for her to attack helped us?

Li: It hasn’T. It left you both shot, nearly dying in an alley.

Steffy: Never again. I’m confronting sheila, and you both are coming with me. She is too arrogant and hot-headed right now. She’s not gonna be able to hide this. We can… we can put enough pressure on her, and she’ll slip. She always does. I’m not gonna rest until that woman is rotting in prison for the rest of her godforsaken life. Dangerous ladders. Gutter muck.

Ridge: So let me get this straight. Two people died, not only in the same place, but overdosing on the same drug?

Carter: According to the toxicology report, yes.

Hope: But we’ve established that hollis cared about his health. He cared about his fitness. And now you’re telling us that he died of a drug overdose at work?

Brooke: You think they were doing drugs together?

Carter: I can’t tell you that. I only know what the report says. How’s deacon?

Hope: He’s not doing well. Tom and hollis were his friends. When he first took over il giardino, hollis was the one who helped him put his vision together. And tom, well, he obviously was an important part of my dad’s life.

Ridge: Because he saved sheila’s life. That’s kind of ironic.

Brooke: That could be a tragic coincidence.

Ridge: It’s never a coincidence when she’s involved. You know that.

Carter: When I heard the news, my mind went there too.

Ridge: Yeah, exactly. So there it is, just waiting for the other shoe to drop. And there it is. Sheila’s other shoe dropped. Two people dead on the victim list.

Hope: Oh, but… why them, though? It doesn’t-

Ridge: Why not them? What…? This is sheila. She tried to kill my daughter to get closer to finn and hayes. That’s what she does. She’s psychotic. Sheila carter.

Baker: All right, deacon. Walk me through the moments before mr. Starr died.

Deacon: Okay. Um, you know, he was up on stage. He was performing. He–it was amazing. You know, tom actually was a pretty big musician back in the day. Even had a song on the radio once and… it just… it felt good to give him a platform to, you know, be reliving that part of his life again. And he was… he was playing so well.

Sheila: Yeah.

Deacon: You know, it was a great night, and then… then he collapsed. We just called 911.

Sheila: I–I used to be a nurse, so I–I did what I could, but he–he just went so fast.

Deacon: We learned later that it was an overdose, and… it’s heartbreaking. You know, tom dealt with addiction, but he cleaned himself up. I mean, he had an opportunity for a second chance.

Baker: Sorry for your loss. Losses. Sadly, it happens so often. But now that another employee has died downstairs, a case has been opened.

Sheila: A case?

Baker: Yes, to make sure there was no foul play.

Deacon: What are you doing here?

Steffy: I knew it. Glad to see that the police are involved.

Sheila: We’re cooperating, steffy, there’s no need for all of this.

Baker: If there’s something you’d like to add, we could talk at a different time.

Steffy: No, you’re gonna want to hear this right now. Finn, tell him.

Finn: As I’m sure you’re aware, hollis’ autopsy was done at my hospital. He died of an overdose.

Deacon: No, no, no. There’s no way. No. Hollis… hollis didn’t use.

Li: There were drugs found in his system when he died.

Baker: I read the report. This isn’t news to me.

Steffy: Tom and hollis overdosed on the same drug.

Li: Same toxicity levels.

Steffy: Two men died, and we know why.

Sheila: [Scoffs] Wait a minute. Why are you looking at me?

Steffy: Because it’s you, sheila. You killed them.

Ridge: Now, what I’m saying is, I don’t know if it’s here or not. I can look for it, but not right this minute.

[Exhales] Yes, I hea

Ridge: Now, what I’m saying is, I don’t know if it’s here or not. I can look for it, but no

Hollis: Here is to the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Brooke: Yes. I’ll drink to that.

Hollis: Cheers.

[Glasses clink] Like you said, things change. Hey… don’t underestimate me, boss.

Ridge: I–I appreciate all your help. I do, and I will get it figured out, but not… but not right this moment. Ok… I’m–I’m gonna have to call you back. I-I will. Sorry about that. Sometimes… okay, I get it. Hollis taking drugs is not adding up for you. Tom, different story, right? He had his problems with alcohol, with drugs. But hollis…

Brooke: No, nothing about hollis would lead anybody to believe that he had a substance abuse. And deacon’s street smart. He would have picked up if hollis was using.

Ridge: Probably. So what is it? Let’s make sense of it, right? He didn’t use drugs, but he died of an overdose. How does that make sense to anybody?

Carter: If what you’re saying about hollis is true, then it reinforces our theory that sheila had a hand in this.

Ridge: Carter… it’s a nice theory. It really is. And I love you, and I respect you, but… let’s call it what it is. Can we do that?

Brooke: Why is sheila not behind bars?

Ridge: Or six feet under.

Brooke: After all the horrible things she’s done through her life, now she’s running around, and she possibly killed two innocent men?

Sheila: That’s a dangerous accusation.

Steffy: Well, you’re a dangerous animal.

Deacon: All right, steffy, that’s enough. Please, just–just leave. All right? We’re–we’re dealing with enough here.

Steffy: How many people have to suffer before you take this monster and lock her up? Think about everything she’s done to us. She shot me. She shot finn. She drove li off the road, left her for dead.

Li: And now tom and hollis are her latest victims.

Sheila: I didn’t do this.

Deacon: All right, listen, if what you’re saying about tom and hollis is true, that they died of a drug overdose, then it’s ludicrous to blame sheila. You’re not actually buying this, are you?

Baker: I wouldn’t be a very good cop if I didn’t follow up every lead.

Sheila: But I didn’t do this.

Li: Lies. This is what you do. You hurt people and then do everything you can to cover it up.

Sheila: That’s not true.

Steffy: Nine toes says otherwise.

Sheila: I’m not that person anymore. I’ve changed. I am in therapy. I am married to the love of my life. I am leading a simple, peaceful life.

Deacon: Look, these are false, erroneous claims, and I’m not gonna tolerate it.

Li: This woman–

Deacon: Okay, stop right there, all right? In my house, you’re gonna treat my wife with respect. Look, you guys are way off base thinking that sheila did this. Il giardino’s, it’s our home. Tom and hollis are like family to us.

Sheila: But tom… if it weren’t for him, finn and deacon never would have found me chained up in that… in that warehouse. And hollis, he treated me with respect. He never looked at me like I was some sort of a monster. I cared deeply for both of them. Now, I may have done some horrible things, but I did not do this. I am not responsible for tom and hollis’ death.

Li: Then tell us what happened to them, sheila. Hmm? Tell us.

Sheila: [Sighs] Oh, my god. That’s it.

Baker: What?

Sheila: Hollis found tom’s backpack, and he said that there was something in that backpack that–that could have gotten tom killed, and now hollis is dead, too.

Finn: What are you saying?

Sheila: I’m saying the clue is in that backpack, finn. We’ve–we’ve got to find it. (Vo) when it comes to nature valley,

Steffy: The lies that come out of your mouth. Now there’s this mysterious backpack you just conveniently remembered.

Sheila: I am not lying.

Baker: Stephy, let me handle this. Tell me some more about this backpack.

Sheila: [Sighs] What? What is that?

Hollis: It’s tom’s backpack.

Sheila: Why on earth would you have tom’s backpack?

Hollis: I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how and why tom died. I think I discovered something.

Sheila: Are–are you rifling through his stuff to find his drug stash?

Hollis: I… no. No, not at all.

Sheila: That’s how he died, hollis. There’s nothing for you to wrap your head around. That’s the last time I saw hollis. I feel horrible for being so short with him, but I was… I was still upset about tom’s death.

Deacon: It’s okay. Hollis knew how you felt about him.

Baker: Did you know about any of this?

Deacon: No.

Baker: What was in the backpack?

Sheila: I don’t know.

Baker: You didn’t look inside?

Sheila: No. I told him to get rid of it.

Baker: Why would you do that?

Sheila: Well, tom had no family to leave it to, and I was worried there might still be drugs in it. I didn’t want that attached to the restaurant.

Baker: Call the police, not throw it away.

Li: Unless you wanted to get rid of some damning evidence.

Sheila: You don’t know what you’re talking about. I want to know who killed hollis and tom just as much as all of you.

Steffy: Yeah, I highly doubt that.

Sheila: G-give me a minute to think. I just… the backpack. That backpack still has to be here downstairs. That’S… that’s where our answers are.

Brooke: Still nothing?

Ridge: Uh, stephi’s not answering her texts now.

Carter: Is she okay?

Ridge: I’m sure she’s fine. She’s at the hospital trying to get to the bottom of things.

Baker: Wasn’t in the stockroom.

Li: Or the dumpster.

Sheila: Hollis used to stash things behind the bar all the time. Maybe it’s here.

[Sighs] It’s–it’s not here.

Steffy: Shocker.

Li: Chief baker, please. Please, tell me you see what sheila’s doing.

Steffy: This is just a smoke screen.

Sheila: I’m telling the truth.

Deacon: Why would she lie about this?

Li: To cover up what she did.

Deacon: You know what? You have no motives. You have no proof. All you have are ridiculous accusations.

Baker: Hey, hey, hey, hey. I’m the only one running this investigation. You understand? Was sheila with you that entire night?

Deacon: No, she… she came up to the apartment a little bit later.

Baker: Is that true?

Sheila: Of course it’s true. But I also wasn’t downstairs killing hollis.

Steffy: Chief baker, take sheila in for questioning. I am not safe. Our family is not safe.

Li: Wouldn’t be the first time two people were harmed here. There could be more if this doesn’t end now.

Sheila: I had nothing to do with tom and hollis’ death. Chief baker, you can’t take me in. You can’T. Finn. Finn, say something. I mean, you believe me, don’t you? Please, just say something.

Finn: I believe in second chances. I don’t know what happened to tom and hollis here, but what I do know is wherever sheila goes, destruction follows. I have a family to protect. My wife’s right. And out of an abundance of caution, and given sheila’s past crimes, we would feel safer, and it would be prudent to take sheila into custody for questioning.

Baker: Looks like we agree.

Sheila: No.

Deacon: Come on, you don’t mean this.

Finn: Chief baker, take her away.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Eric is at the Brady Pub with Jude and talks about his family’s legacy. Roman arrives and questions Eric not being in Paris. Eric informs him that there’s been a change of plans. Roman asks why and if the baby is Jude which Eric confirms. Eric asks Roman if he’d like to say hello to his grandson.

Marlena is outside and gets a call from Leo. She reminds him that he has to call to make an appointment but Leo says it’s not a professional call and asks if she wants to watch more of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Marlena says she’ll get back to him on that and they’ll talk soon as they hang up. Leo worries that he came off too thirsty. Nicole arrives at the Spectator office, so Leo tells her that Everett should be back in the office soon but Nicole threatens him.

Marlena enters the DIMera Mansion where EJ says he wasn’t expecting her and asks if she came to see Johnny after Chanel’s miscarriage. Marlena responds that she didn’t come to see her grandson but to see EJ and she thinks he knows why.

Bobby questions Connie being sure that she already got Rafe out of the picture. Connie says she told him that she would and when she makes a promise, she keeps it. Bobby asks how she did it. Connie responds that it was in the back with a very sharp knife.

Gabi arrives at the hospital and asks Jada where Rafe is. Jada informs her that they are working on him now. Gabi asks how he is. Jada says he’s lost a lot of blood after being stabbed from behind. Gabi questions who could have done this. Jada says she doesn’t know and when she got there, Rafe was just lying there bleeding. Gabi asks what Kayla said and how bad it is. Jada informs Gabi that she made her leave the room. Kayla then comes out so Gabi asks what’s happening and how Rafe is. Kayla informs them that Rafe is out of surgery because the knife punctured his lung and they need to repair it to assess the damage. Kayla says she’ll find them as soon as she knows more as she heads back to the ER to join the team.

Roman is shocked as Eric reveals to him that Jude is his son. Eric says he just found out yesterday and waited to tell him in person. Roman asks how this happened. Eric explains that he was at the airport when Nicole showed up to tell him that Jude was his son. Roman question why they didn’t know Jude was his son until now. Eric responds that it turns out that they have EJ to thank for that.

Leo asks Nicole if this is about the press conference. Nicole asks if he has any idea how her life has turned upside down because of all of this. Nicole talks about thinking her baby was dead and mourning that loss, then getting him back and thinking it was a miracle, only to find out that EJ isn’t the father, Eric is, and Leo knew it the whole time. Nicole tells Leo that he has caused their family so much pain for the last few months and asks if he thinks they are just going to be jovial co-workers like nothing happened. Nicole asks what Leo has to say for himself.

Jada and Gabi have coffee and sit together at the hospital as Jada says it looks like they are going to be there for awhile. Gabi says it doesn’t make sense since she was just with Rafe at the Pub. Jada says it’s good that Gabi told her that he was going to the cemetery or she wouldn’t have found him. Gabi asks if she saw anyone else. Jada says by the time she got there, Rafe was just lying there with a knife in his back. Gabi points out that it’s just like Li.

Bobby questions Connie stabbing the police commissioner in the back. Connie asks if he would’ve preferred poison or a bullet. Bobby argues that he didn’t want him murdered at all while Connie argues that he said he wanted Rafe out of the picture and questions how else she was going to do that. Connie says she doesn’t have a private island to ship people to, so the only way she can get rid of people is to put them six feet under.

Roman can’t believe EJ knew about Jude’s paternity and what he put Eric through. Eric says Marlena had the same reaction. Roman asks if Eric has already forgiven and forgotten. Eric assures that he wants EJ to pay for what he did but he has other priorities. Roman understands Eric has to focus on his son. Eric says he missed him so much. Roman says they all did and tells Jude that he’s so grateful to have him back in the family as he can’t wait to spoil him. Roman then questions what this means in regards to Eric reuniting with Nicole.

Nicole tells Leo that she doesn’t even know why she bothered, complaining that he doesn’t give a damn about anyone but himself. Leo says that’s not true and that he’s been doing a lot of work on himself to give a damn about others. Leo says he’s even starting to care about what goes on in the world. Leo tells Nicole that Marlena is helping him through his issues to become a better person. Nicole asks if Marlena knows that Leo helped give birth to her grandchild and let everyone believe he was a DiMera instead. Leo says he doesn’t know what Marlena does or doesn’t know because their relationship is strictly professional and all about him and his lack of self esteem. Leo swears that he didn’t know Jude wasn’t a DiMera. Nicole questions if he knows the meaning of honest. Leo insists that he was told that EJ was the father. Nicole questions all the money Sloan gave him. Leo says he feels really terribly guilty about all of that but swears that he did know that Eric was Jude’s father and that he was convinced EJ was Jude’s father. Leo adds that EJ doesn’t seem like much of a nurturer which is part of the reason that he thought Jude would be better off with Eric, who obviously loved him. Leo then reveals that he’s finally realizing why EJ paid him to keep his mouth shut.

EJ asks Marlena if she wants any tea but Marlena says she doesn’t want anything from him. Marlena says she came to talk about Jude. EJ says if she wants to see Jude then she wasted a trip. Marlena responds that when she wants to see Jude, she knows how to do that. Marlena then declares that she actually came to do this as she slaps EJ.

Bobby says he shouldn’t be surprised Connie stuck a knife in Rafe since it’s what she did to Li Shin. Connie calls this completely different while Bobby feels it’s exactly the same. Connie argues that she never wanted to hurt Li and blames that on Gabi and Melinda. Connie complains that Gabi and Melinda turned Li off to the idea of love and if they didn’t hurt him, his heart would’ve been open and they could’ve been together. Connie talks about how great Li was until Bobby yells at her to snap out of it. Connie says she was just thinking about what could’ve been but that’s all in the past now. Bobby reminds her to stay laser focused. Connie reminds him that he said he would keep her secret if she took Rafe out and she did, so he’s free to be with Jada. Connie asks if he’s satisfied.

Gabi can’t believe somebody hurt Rafe in the exact same way that Li was killed and wonders if there could be a connection. Jada says it’s possible but Li’s killer is dead. Gabi brings up Jada’s ex saying that it wasn’t Gil. Jada points out that could’ve been a ploy to keep her close but Gabi wonders if it wasn’t and if the person who killed Li was the same exact person who stabbed Rafe. Gabi says it feels more than just a coincidence. Jada agrees and assures they will investigate every possible lead. Gabi asks about the knife. Jada says the EMTs removed it when they brought Rafe in. Gabi asks where it is but Jada isn’t sure since she hasn’t even had time for the team to process the trauma room. Gabi says it must still be there so with any luck, they can prove who did this to Rafe.

EJ supposes he deserved Marlena’s slap. Marlena says he deserved that and more since he knew the baby that Eric and Sloan adopted was Nicole’s, so he must have known it was Eric’s but he let Eric come and give the baby to them, knowing it was breaking his heart. EJ states that Marlena has every right to be angry with him. Marlena asks if he’s not going to give her some lame excuse or try to tell her that he and Nicole could raise Jude in a wonderful environment. EJ admits there is no excuse for what he did and his only defense is that he was terrified of what would happen if the truth came out as he knew he would not only lose his son, but his wife as well.

Nicole questions Leo about EJ paying him to keep quiet about the baby and demands to know all of it. Leo explains that awhile back, he got drunk and may have spilled what he thought was the truth to EJ that the baby was his and Nicole’s. Leo thought EJ would be delighted and overjoyed but instead, he paid him to keep his mouth shut. Leo admits it was odd to him but says he needed the money, so he put his suspicions aside but now it all makes sense that he didn’t want to claim Jude as his because he knew he wasn’t and was Eric’s. Leo tells Nicole that he’s truly sorry and he doesn’t expect her to accept his apology but he knows he should’ve protected her and her son. Leo calls helping Nicole give birth to Jude the proudest moment of his life. Nicole declares that if Leo really is sorry, then she thinks there’s a way he can make it up to her. Leo says he’ll do anything, so Nicole wants him to testify to all of this in court.

Eric questions why Roman would ask him about reuniting with Nicole and if he thinks they are just going to get back together after finding out about Jude. Roman argues that all their obstacles are gone. Eric doesn’t know for a fact that Nicole and EJ’s marriage is done and says they haven’t spoken since the airport. Roman can’t imagine Nicole will ever forgive EJ for what he did, so that means Nicole will be able to clearly see there is nothing standing in her way of getting back with Eric.

Bobby warns Connie that there’s going to be a murder investigation. Connie clarifies that she never said Rafe was dead but she didn’t say he wasn’t either because she doesn’t know if he survived as she didn’t stick around long enough to find out. Bobby questions if she just left him there to bleed out. Connie says her plan was to put him in an open grave but someone showed up so she got out of there and assures that no one saw her. Bobby points out that Connie doesn’t know if Rafe is alive or dead. Connie says she would lean towards dead because he looked like a goner when she left the scene. Bobby declares this is not what he wanted. Connie doesn’t understand why he’s so upset and says it’s starting to make her mad. Connie says that Jada will be devastated and Bobby will be there to pick up the pieces, so she questions how that’s not what he wanted.

Jada returns to Rafe’s hospital room which is now empty. She puts on a glove and bags the knife that was used to stab Rafe. Jada then cries over Rafe’s bloody clothes.

Roman tells Eric that he’s going to work behind the bar. Eric offers to pitch in if he needs him. Roman says absolutely not since he has his son to look after. Eric asks if Roman doesn’t want to hang out with Jude. Roman says he does but he’ll have all the time in the world now that Jude is back in their lives. Eric then reveals that he’s not sure he’s sticking around and that they only pushed back his start date for the job in Paris. Roman questions why the hell he would even think about leaving Salem when he now has the chance to have everything he ever wanted.

Leo questions Nicole wanting him to testify against EJ in a court of law which Nicole confirms. Leo points out that EJ is the district attorney. Nicole calls EJ an amoral bastard who broke the law. Nicole declares that divorcing EJ is not enough as she wants him locked up. Nicole asks Leo to just testify to the jury that EJ paid him to keep quiet and that should be enough evidence to put him away. Leo admits that makes a lot of sense and says he wishes Nicole, Eric, and Jude the best of luck, but he doesn’t want any part of that.

EJ tells Marlena that he’d have to be a fool to think the truth wouldn’t end his marriage since everyone knows the epic love story between Eric and Nicole. Marlena tells him to spare her the self pity. EJ argues that he’s speaking from the heart. EJ adds that as soon as there was even a question of Jude’s paternity, Nicole was already planning her escape. Marlena asks what that means. EJ informs Marlena that he caught Eric and Nicole over and over again, looking at each other and witnessing their addiction to one another. Marlena asks why he didn’t let her go, arguing that he couldn’t believe a lie of that magnitude would keep her with him. EJ knows now that he deluded himself because he loves Nicole so much and he loved the life they were creating together with Holly and his children. EJ thought that if he just had time, he could make her happy and she would come to love him more than she ever loved Eric. Marlena says sometimes, she forgets who EJ is and how much he’s very much like his father.

Bobby tells Connie that he’s not sure how much consoling he can offer Jada at the moment which she questions. Bobby reminds her that he’s pretending to be Everett. Connie argues that it doesn’t change their deal since she did what he asked and cleared the way for him to get back with his ex. Connie tells Bobby that she did it for him, so she needs to know that he’s not going to tell anyone that he saw her in the park on the night of Li’s death. Bobby agrees not to tell anyone but warns Connie that no one can see them together, especially now that Jada thinks the identity of Li’s killer is locked somewhere in Everett’s brain.

Jada returns to Gabi at the hospital. Gabi says she was at the chapel praying as it feels like the only thing she can do to help Rafe. Jada says she sent the knife to the lab to be tested and hopes they can find the identity of who did this. Gabi recalls finding the knife that stabbed Li being the beginning of her problems.

Roman tells Eric that unless he’s missing something, he took the job in France because he thought it would be too painful to be around Jude but it’s not anymore. Roman adds that he doesn’t see Nicole leaving any time soon. Eric agrees since Holly is beginning her senior year at high school. Roman questions why Eric would want to move halfway around the world from his son who he just got back. Eric says he’s still figuring things out as it’s still so new. Roman says he understands and doesn’t mean to pressure him. Roman tells Eric that there are decisions to be made and he suggests starting by talking to Nicole.

Nicole tells Leo that if he’s worried about testifying against EJ because he’d have to admit to blackmailing EJ and Sloan, she will talk to Rafe. Nicole doesn’t know who will be prosecuting the case but she’s sure there’s a way to get Leo immunity in exchange for his testimony. Leo says maybe but that’s not why he doesn’t want to take the stand, so Nicole questions what the problem is. Leo guesses he just feels like EJ has suffered enough in losing his kid and his wife. Nicole blames it on his own actions. Leo say sort of and points out that EJ was going to lose them anyway. Leo assumes EJ kept quiet because he knew if the truth came out, it would push Nicole and Eric closer together, so now he has to watch his worst nightmare come true.

EJ tells Marlena that Stefano never gave up on her, no matter how many times he was reminded that John was her one true love. Marlena thinks it was more about the desire to win than it was about her. EJ admits that DiMeras prefer to be on the winning side. Marlena thinks he tried to stack the deck. EJ admits that maybe his lie about Jude’s paternity was about winning and he was terrified of losing because of the years he lost after his accident and because he lost Sami and the life they shared. EJ adds that he went over the top in his effort because of his desperation to not lose Nicole, who he truly loves. EJ says that’s all moot now since the truth is out, Nicole is divorcing him, and she and Eric now have their son back while he has nothing. Marlena doesn’t feel sorry for him. EJ says he’s just stating a fact. EJ adds that Marlena gave him his comeuppance and now all is right in the world. Marlena is so glad the truth is out and that Eric has his son, but as far as EJ’s comeuppance, because of the way he hurt her family, she hopes that EJ’s suffering has just begun. Marlena then exits the mansion.

Roman goes to see Marlena at home and tells her that he had a great visit with Rex in Chicago and an even better return home since he just ran in to Eric and their grandson Jude, which he calls the best news. Marlena says she’s so happy and asks if Eric was just beaming. Roman confirms that he was as Eric has waited for this for so long. Roman says seeing Jude back in Eric’s arms did his heart good. Marlena states that Eric deserves to be happy. Roman hopes there’s even more good news on the horizon for Eric and his future happiness. Roman asks Marlena if she thinks Eric and Nicole have a chance to get back together and work it out again. Marlena says time will tell but she thinks they have reason to be hopeful.

Eric watches over Jude in his room and comments on Roman being right about Nicole. Nicole then shows up at the door.

EJ gets the mail at home and it is Nicole’s petition for divorce, so he guesses his comeuppance is coming faster than Marlena thought.

After leaving the room, Connie runs in to Leo at the Salem Inn and recognizes him as Lady Whistleblower. Connie talks about reading his column all the time and loving it. Leo says it’s always nice to meet a fan and asks if she’s a friend of Everett’s since she was coming out of his room. Connie claims that they go way back, then says it was nice meeting him and rushes off.

Jada makes a call to put a rush on the results for Rafe. Jada hangs up and tells Gabi that forensics should have something for them soon. Gabi feels like it’s been forever. Kayla comes over and reveals that there’s been a complication. Kayla announces that Rafe has a clot to his lung, so he has slipped in to a coma. Kayla says she has to get back and tells them to pray for him. Gabi and Jada hug as they cry.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[Jude coos]

[chuckles]   You know, pretty soon, you’re gonna get  your first taste at the Brady Pub chowder.

[Jude coos]   And you’re a part of a family legacy,   so I’m guessing you’re gonna love it.   Oh, yeah.

[Jude cooing]   – Eric.

Hey, Dad.

Aren’t you supposed to be in Paris?

Change of plans.

But why?   And the baby, is–   is that Jude?

Yeah, it is.

[Jude coos]   Would you like to say hello to your grandson?

[Jude cooing]   –

[chuckles]

[phone ringing]

Leo, we’ve discussed this.   You have to call and make an appointment–

Actually, this isn’t a professional call, Dr. Evans.   I was calling to see if you might want to watch   “Drag Race” with me this week.   And if that silver fox husband of yours is back in town,   we could do it at my place.   I can order some room service.

I’ll get back to you.   – Well, just don’t take too long.   You’re not the only RuPaul-loving shrink in Salem.   Actually, I bet you are, and I love that about you.   I mean I respect that about you.   That’s more appropriate, right?

We’ll talk soon, Leo.

Oh, was I too thirsty?   I think I was.   – Oh, there you are.   – Why, Ms. DiMera, we’re here bright and early today.   Suppose you heard that your days   of keeping bankers’ hours are over.

What the hell does that mean?

Oh, I guess you haven’t heard.   Everett Lynch got released from the nuthatch,   which means he’ll probably be back in the office soon.   Nose to the grindstone for all of us.

The only nose I want to put to the grindstone is yours.

[dramatic music]

[clears throat] Marlena.   I wasn’t expecting you.   Are you–are you here to see Johnny?   I know he’ll be comforted by your presence.   It’s been a tough time for him, obviously–   Chanel’s miscarriage.

I’m not here to see my grandson.   I’m here to see you.   I think you know why.

– You’re sure you got Rafe out of the picture?

I told you I would, didn’t I?   And when I make a promise, I keep it.   – OK.   So how’d you do it?

In the back, with a very sharp knife.

[birds chirping]

– Jada, where’s my brother?   – They’re working on him now.   – How is he?   – He’s lost a lot of blood.   Someone stabbed him from behind.   – Oh, my God! Who could have done this?

I don’t know.   When I got to the cemetery,   he was just lying there, bleeding.   – What did Kayla say?   How bad is it?

She made me leave the room.

– Kayla, what’s happening?   How is my brother?

[soft orchestration]   announcer: Like sands through the hourglass,   so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

– Rafe’s in surgery.   – What? Why?

The knife penetrated his lung.   We need to repair it.   We won’t know the extent of the damage   until we get in there.

Oh, God.   – I need to join the team.   I will come find you as soon as I know something.

[dramatic music]

– My God.   Jude is your son.   Eric, I–

[laughs]   I am stunned, obviously,   but also very happy for you and for me and for Marlena.   But yeah, I’m–   I’m kind of overwhelmed.   – Yeah, I thought you might be.

Yeah, when did you find out?

Yesterday. I waited to tell you in person.

But how? How did–how did this happen?

I was at the airport, and Nicole showed up   to say that her son was mine,   that I was Jude’s father.

Nicole knew?

No.   Well, she didn’t know either,   not until yesterday.

But why is that?   Why didn’t we know that Jude was your son before now?

Turns out, we have her husband to thank for that.

[light music]

You’re being kind of loaded for bear here.   Does this have anything to do with that press conference?

What the hell else would it have to do with?   Do you have any idea how my life   is just turned upside down because of all of this?   I mean, my God, first I thought my baby was dead,   and EJ and I had to mourn that terrible loss.   And then we finally get him back, and I think,   oh, my God, what a miracle we’ve been given,   and only to find out that EJ is now not the father of Jude   and Eric is.   And you knew about it this whole time.

Me?   OK, look, I get why you would think that, but–

OK, you know what?   You have caused our family so much pain   for the last few months.   And you think, what,   we’re just gonna be jovial coworkers,   trading gossip like nothing ever happened?

[dramatic music]   Well?   What do you have to say for yourself?

Thanks.

[dramatic music]

Looks like we’re gonna be here for a while.

Yeah.   It does.

None of this makes any sense.   I was just with Rafe at the pub.

I know. You’re the one who told me   that he was going to the cemetery.   Good thing you did.   Otherwise, I wouldn’t have found him there.

Did you see anything else?   Was anybody else there?

No.   By the time I got there, he was just laying there on the ground   with a knife sticking out of his back.

Just like Li.

You stabbed the police commissioner in the back?

Would you have preferred poison, maybe,   or a good old-fashioned bullet to the brain?

I didn’t want him murdered at all.

Well, you said you wanted me to get him out of the picture.   How else was I going to do that?   I don’t know about you, but I don’t happen to own   a private island or two where I can ship people.   The only way I know how to get rid of someone   is to put him six feet under.

I can’t believe that son of a bitch EJ   knew the truth about Jude’s paternity all this time   and kept it from you.

That was pretty much Mom’s reaction.

Yeah, well, as it should be.   Should be anybody’s reaction.   And, Eric, I know you’re a man of God,   but don’t tell me that you have already forgiven and forgotten.

Dad, I’ll never forget.   I want EJ to pay for what he did.   But I–at the moment, I have other priorities.

Well, of course you do. Yeah.   No, you got to focus on this little guy, your son.

I missed him so much.

Yes, we all did.   Hey, kiddo.   This is your Grandpa Roman here,   and I am so grateful to have you back in this family,   my young Mr. Brady.   I cannot wait to spoil you rotten.

Oh, I’m sure you’ll do that.

Oh, I’m planning on it.   I am planning on it.   Hey, but now, you know, Eric,   since you’ve been reunited with your son…   – Yeah?   – What about being reunited with Nicole?

[light music]

– Oh, I don’t even know why I bother.   You don’t give a damn about anyone but yourself.   – That’s not true. –

[scoffs]   – I’ve been doing a lot of work on myself lately   in order to give a damn about other people.   – Mm.   – Even though we have to love ourselves   before we can love other people, as we all know.   As a matter of fact, I’m even starting to care   about what’s happening in the world.   Well, major historical events, anyway.   – All right, what the hell does that even mean?

It means that Dr. Marlena Evans   is helping me work through my issues   so I can become a better person.   – Oh.   And does Dr. Marlena Evans,   who is helping you become a better person,   does she know that you helped give birth to her grandchild   and let us all believe that he was a DiMera   and not her grandson at all, hmm?   Does she know that little piece of information?

Well, I don’t know what she does and doesn’t know   because our relationship is strictly professional   and all about me and my lack of self-esteem.   But more importantly, I didn’t know that little Jude   wasn’t a DiMera, I swear.   I’m being honest.

Honest.

[scoffs]   Do you even know the meaning of that word?

Nicole, listen to me.   I thought that EJ was that little munchkin’s real father   because that’s what I was told.

Oh, and I suppose you’re also gonna tell me   that Sloan gave you all that money   out of the goodness of her heart.

No. Sloan doesn’t have a heart.

[dramatic music]   And I feel really terribly guilty about all of that.   But I swear to you, I never knew   that Eric was Jude’s real father,   his biological father.

So you mean to tell me, all this time,   you were convinced that EJ was Jude’s father?

Yes, I was.   And I guess because that guy doesn’t seem like much   of a nurturer to me, which is putting it mildly,   I think it’s part of the reason why I thought that Jude   would be better off with Eric,   because he was obviously so in love with that little boy.

His little boy. His!

Yes, his little boy.

I’m also finally realizing why EJ   paid me to keep my mouth shut.

All right, would you like–   would you like a drink, some tea?

I don’t want anything from you.   Thank you.

All right.   Well, I can see that you’re not in the mood for pleasantries.   And since you’re not here to see Johnny,   I can assume that–

I came to talk about Jude.   – Well, yes.   But if you want to see him,   I’m afraid you’ve wasted a trip.

Well, when I want to see Jude,   I know how to do that.   What I actually came to do   was this.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised   you stuck a knife in Rafe after what you did to Li Shin.

Oh, no, you don’t.   That was completely different.

Oh, really?   Because it sort of sounds like it was exactly the same.

How was it the same?   I never wanted to hurt Li.   That was all Gabi’s fault and that awful Melinda Trask’s.   Those harpies turned Li off to the very idea of love.

[chuckles] Yeah,   that’s the reason he wasn’t interested in you, right?   – Of course it was.   If they hadn’t hurt him, his heart would have been open   and he and I could have been together.   We would have had a chance at a wonderful life.

[dramatic music]

[sighs] He was so romantic   and handsome and intelligent.   And, oh, that smile, it just lit up a room.

Connie!   Snap out of it!   – OK.   Sorry.   I was just thinking about what could have been.   But that’s all in the past now.   – You’re damn right it is.   Li’s dead.   You and I need to stay laser focused.   – OK, OK, I’m focused.   You said you’d keep my secret if I helped you out, and I did.   The commissioner’s out of commission,   and you’re free to be with Jada.   Satisfied?

– I can’t believe that somebody hurt Rafe   in the exact same way that Li was killed.   I mean, couldn’t there be a connection?   – It’s possible, but Li’s assailant is dead, so–

Wait.   Didn’t you tell me that your ex said   that Gil Carter didn’t do it?   – Yeah, but that might have been a ploy,   you know, just to keep me close,   keep me wondering,   just a reason for me to keep going back to visit him.   – What if it wasn’t a ploy?   And what if it’s true?   And what if the person that killed Li   is the same exact person that stabbed Rafe?   It feels more than just a coincidence, doesn’t it?

Yeah, no, it does.   And we are going to investigate every possible lead, Gabi.   – What about the knife?

The knife? What about it?

Well, I’m assuming you weren’t as stupid as I was   when I pulled it out of Li’s back with my bare hands.

No, I waited for the EMTs to arrive.   I think they removed it when they brought him here.

Well, where is it?

I’m not sure.   You know, I haven’t had any time to even   have the team come and process the trauma room yet.   – Then it must still be here.   With any luck, you can prove who did this to my brother.

I suppose I deserved that.

You deserved that and more.

You knew that the baby that Eric and Sloan adopted   was Nicole’s,   so you must have known that baby was Eric’s.   And you let him come to you and give you that baby,   even knowing that it was breaking his heart.

You have every right to be angry with me, Marlena.

Wow.   You’re not gonna give me some lame excuse?   You’re not gonna try to tell me that you and Nicole could   raise Jude in a wonderful environment,   give him every privilege?   –

[clears throat]   There is no excuse for what I did.

The only defense that I could come up with   is that I was terrified of what would happen   if the truth came out.   I knew that I would not only lose my son   but my wife,   my everything.

– EJ paid you to keep quiet about the baby?   – More or less.

Oh, don’t you give me more or less.   You tell me all of it now, or I’ll make you eat   one of those very expensive shoes.

OK, OK.   So a while back, I had a few too many,   and I may have spilled the truth to EJ   or at least what I thought was the truth.

That the baby Eric and Sloan were raising   was actually his and mine.   – Right.   I thought he would be delighted–overjoyed, even.   But instead he paid me to keep my mouth shut.

[scoffs]   And that didn’t strike you as odd?

Of course it did, especially once I sobered up.   But I would have been up you-know-what creek   without that money, so I put my suspicions aside.   Only now it all makes sense.   He didn’t want to claim Jude as his   because he knew that Jude wasn’t really his.   He was Eric’s.

Oh, that son of a bitch.

Nicole, I’m sorry.   Truly.   I know it doesn’t mean much now,   and I don’t expect you to accept my apology,   but I know that I should have protected you   and I should have protected your son.   I mean, I helped you give birth to that beautiful little boy,   which is the proudest moment of my life, truly.

– If you really are sorry, Leo,   then I think there’s a way you can make it up to me.   – Really?   I will do anything. Just tell me.   – Great.   I want you to testify to all of this in court.

– Why would you ask me about reuniting with Nicole?   You think, after finding out about Jude,   I’m just gonna get back together with her?   – Eric, come on.   You can’t tell me it hasn’t crossed your mind.   I mean, all the obstacles that kept you two apart–   her marriage to EJ, having a child with him–   they’re all gone.   – I don’t know for a fact   that her marriage to EJ is over.   – You haven’t spoken to her about it?

No, not since I saw her at the airport.   I mean, she texted me to check in on Jude,   but I think this is just her way of giving me a chance   to reconnect with him, to bond with him.   – Yeah, but, my God, I can’t imagine   that she’s ever gonna forgive EJ for what he did.   – I can’t imagine it either.   – Yeah, so that means, when all the dust clears,   she’s gonna be able to very clearly see   there’s nothing standing in her way   of getting back together with you.

– There’s gonna be a murder investigation.   You know that, right? – A murder investigation?   I never said Rafe was dead.

[dramatic music]   – He’s not?   – I didn’t say that either.

Well, which one is it, Connie?   It can’t be both!   – What I’m trying to tell you is,   I don’t know if he survived.   I didn’t stick around long enough to find out.

Well, so you just, what,   you just left him there, bleeding out?

My plan was to roll him   into a conveniently located open grave,   but someone showed up before I could move him.

Someone showed up? Who showed up?   Who? Did they see you?   – What am I, an amateur?   No, they didn’t see me.   I got the hell out of there as quickly as possible.

You’re sure?

I’m sure.

OK, but you don’t know if Rafe is dead or alive?

[sighs] If I had to put money on it,   I’d say odds are against him walking away from this.   He looked like a goner when I fled the scene.

Damn it.   This is not what I wanted.

– I don’t understand why you’re so upset,   and it’s starting to make me mad.   Poor Detective Hunter is going to be devastated,   and she’s going to need someone to console her.   And you’ll be there to pick up the pieces.   How is that not what you wanted?

[somber music]

[sniffles]

[sniffles]

[sobs]

[sighs]   You know what?   I think I’m gonna drop this bag off   and give Smitty a break behind the bar.   – I can pitch in if you need me.

Absolutely not.   You’ve got my grandson to look after.

Yeah, but don’t you want to hang out with him?

Of course I do, but now that I got him back   and my son is gonna stick around Salem,   I got all the time in the world to hang with him…

Dad, I don’t–

And you.

I don’t know if I’m sticking around.

What do you mean?   I mean, you told that job back in France   that something came up, right?   – Yeah, we just pushed back my start date,   but that’s as far as we got.

But you’re not gonna take that job now, are you?   I mean, my God, Eric, why in the hell   would you even think about leaving Salem   when you finally got a chance to have   everything you’ve ever wanted?

[light music]   – You want me to walk into a court of law   and testify against EJ?   – That’s what I want.   – EJ DiMera, the district attorney of Salem?   – Leo, EJ is not only an immoral bastard,   but he broke the law.   And it’s not enough for me to just divorce him.   I want him locked up.   Look, just testify to the jury   that EJ paid you to keep quiet,   and that should be enough evidence to put him away.

[dramatic music]   – That makes a lot of sense.   And I wish you the best, Nicole–   not just you but you and Eric and that little boy.   But I don’t want any part of that.

– I’d be a fool not to have worried   that the truth would end my marriage,   that I would be certain of it, in fact.   Everyone knows the epic love story   between Eric Brady and Nicole Walker.   It’s a tale for the ages.   – Spare me your self-pity.   – I’m speaking from the heart, Marlena.

And I would have you know that as soon as even   there was a question of Jude’s paternity,   Nicole was already planning her escape.   – What does that mean?   – Oh, you want details? – Oh.   – About how I caught your son and Nicole together,   over and over again,   looking at each other longingly,   how I witnessed their addiction to one another?

Then why didn’t you let her go?   –

[sighs]   – I mean, you can’t believe   that a lie of that magnitude would keep her with you.   EJ, you’re smarter than that.   – Apparently not.   Apparently not.

[sighs]   And I know now that I deluded myself   because I love her so much.   I loved the life that we were creating together   with Holly and my children.   I just thought to myself, if I just had the time,   I could make her happy, and she would come to love me   more than she ever loved Eric.

Something funny?

– Sometimes I forget who you are   and how very much you are like your father.

Thing is, I’m not sure   how much consoling I can offer Jada at the moment.

Why not?   Is it the meds?   I know there can be side effects.   – No, Connie!   It’s not the meds.   It’s because I’m pretending to be Everett, remember?

Oh.

Yeah?

Right, right.   But hey, that doesn’t change our deal.   I did what you asked.   I cleared the way for you to get back together   with your ex-wife.   – Yeah, by stabbing the police commissioner   in the back with a knife.   – For you, Bobby.   So whether you’re calling yourself Everett or Dr. Jekyll   or whoever the hell else you’ve got in there,   I need to know that you’re not going   to tell anyone that you saw me in the park   the night of Li’s death.

[sighs]   Fine.   I’m not gonna tell anyone.   But you need to understand that no one–   no one–can see us together,   especially now that Jada thinks   that the identity of Li’s killer   is locked somewhere in Everett’s brain.

[dramatic music]

Hey.   Where’d you go?   – I was down in the chapel, praying.   Feels like the only thing I can do right now   to help my brother.   Did you find the knife?

Yeah, I sent it over to the forensics lab,   so hopefully they’ll be able to pull some prints, DNA,   something that points to who did this to your brother.

Yeah, hopefully.   Although when I found the knife that killed Li,   it was just the beginning of my problems.

– But, Eric, unless I’m missing something,   the reason you took that job in France was,   you thought it would be too painful to be around Jude.   – Yes.   – And now you know Jude is your son,   so it is not painful anymore.   – No.

Not to mention that Nicole is his mother,   and I don’t see her pulling up stakes anytime soon.   – It’s doubtful.   I mean, Holly’s about to start her senior year in high school.   – Yeah, so why would you want to move   halfway around the world from your son,   who you just finally got back?   – Dad, I’m still figuring things out.   I mean, this is all still so new.   – Understood, and I don’t mean to press you.   Look, all I’m– all I’m saying, son,   is that there are decisions to be made here.   And I think a good start would be talking to Nicole.

[light music]

[sighs]   – Look, Leo, if you’re worried about testifying against EJ   because you’ll actually have to admit   that you were blackmailing EJ and Sloan,   then I will talk to Rafe, OK?   I don’t know who will be prosecuting the case,   but I’m sure there’s a way to get you immunity   in exchange for your testimony.   – Maybe.   But that’s not why I don’t want to take the stand.   – Are you afraid EJ would come after you?

No, it’s not that either.   – Well, if you’re not afraid of the law   and you’re not afraid of EJ, then what’s the problem?

– I guess I just feel like…   hasn’t that guy suffered enough?   –

[scoffs]   – He lost his kid. He’s losing his wife.   – Because of his own actions.   – Sort of.

– What does that mean, sort of?   – It means…   wasn’t he gonna lose you both anyway?   I can only assume that that is why EJ kept quiet about Jude,   because he knew if the truth came out,   it would bring you and Eric closer together.   Now he’s got to watch his worst nightmare come true.

– Stefano never gave up on you, did he,   no matter how many times he was reminded   that John was your one true love?   – Well, I’m not sure that it was about me,   maybe just more about the desire to win.   –

[chuckles]   Mm.   I’ll admit that we DiMeras   don’t like to find ourselves with a losing hand.   – So then you just try to stack the deck.

[sighs]   OK.   I’ll admit that maybe my lying about Jude’s paternity   was about losing   and that I’ve been especially terrified of losing   because of the years I lost after the accident   and because I lost Samantha and the life we shared…

And that I went over the top in my effort   because of my desperation to not lose Nicole,   whom I do truly love.

But that’s all moot now, isn’t it?   Truth is out. Nicole’s divorcing me.   She and Eric now have their son back, and,   well, I have nothing.

– I don’t feel sorry for you.   – Just stating a fact.   And as far as you’re concerned,   well, I’ve got my comeuppance,   and hey, all is right in the world.

Well, I’m so glad the truth is out.   And I’m so glad that Eric has his son.

But as far as your comeuppance goes   and all’s right with the world,   because of the way you have hurt my family,   I can only hope that your suffering   has just begun.

[dramatic music]

[laughs]

You’re back from Chicago.

What gave it away?   – Did you have a good visit with Rex?

I had a great visit with Rex and an even better return home.   I just ran into Eric and our grandson Jude.   – You heard the news.

I heard the best news.   – It is the best, isn’t it? – Oh, my God.

Oh, my gosh, I’m so happy.   And was Eric simply beaming?

Oh, he was. He was.   I mean, our boy has waited for this for so long.   And to see Jude back in his arms again,   to say it did my heart good,   my God, that would be just a huge understatement.

He deserves to be happy.   – Yes, he does, and now I’m hoping   that there’s even more good news on the horizon   for Eric and his future happiness.   – You’re talking about Nicole.   – Well, what do you think?   Think they got a chance to get back, work it out again?   – Well, only time will tell.   But after the last few months,   I think we have reason to be hopeful.

[chuckles]

[Jude cooing]   Ah, what do you think, cowboy, hmm?

[Jude coos]   Your grandpa, he brought this back for you.   It’s one of the best baby toys ever, right?

[Jude cooing]   He’s a real wise man.

Think he was right about your mommy too.

[Jude cooing]

[knock at door]

[sighs]   I don’t understand why the courier   didn’t drop this off at my office.

[sighs]   Well, Marlena,   I guess my comeuppance is coming   faster than you thought.

[sighs]   – Excuse me. – Yes?   – Aren’t you Lady Whistleblower?   – Why, yes, I am.   Wait, I didn’t write anything bad about you, did I?   – Not at all.   I love your column.   I read it every day.   People in this town are bat poop crazy, huh?   –

[chuckles] To say the least.   Well, it’s always so nice to meet a fan.   Are you a friend of Everett’s?   – Everett?   – Everett Lynch, my editor.   Isn’t that his room?   – Yes, it is.   He and I go way back.   Nice meeting you.   – Wait, don’t–don’t you want an autograph?   Selfie?

Thank you.   Just make sure you put a rush on those results.   This is for Commissioner Hernandez.   Forensics should have something for us soon, OK?   – Feels like he’s been in surgery forever.

I know.   Kayla, is there any update?   – Is Rafe out of surgery?   – There’s been a complication.   Rafe has a pulmonary embolism, a clot to the lung.   The surgeons have worked to remove it,   but I’m afraid he’s slipped into a coma.

[sobbing]

Oh, my God.

I need to get back there.   I will get back to you, but pray for him, OK?   – Yeah.

It’s gonna be OK. It’s gonna be OK.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Finn: Mom, the toxicology report says Hollis died of a drug overdose.

Li: Yes, just like the other man he worked with.

Finn: Tom.

Li: Yes. The same drug was found in both their systerms.

Poppy: Oh, that’s so tragic.

Li: Yes, but it’s not an accident. They were killed, Finn, and I know exactly who did it.

Poppy: Who?

Li: You know exactly who I’m talking about, Penelope.

Brooke: “Second death at Beverly Hills restaurant.”

Hope: Do the police think they’re connected?

Brooke: Well, they’re investigating now…interviewing other employees.

Ridge:  It’s definitely going to take a cut out of the pizza business.

Steffy: Well, there’s one employee they should be questioning first.

Deacon: Of course I’ll cooperate with the police.  I’ll help in any way I can. Yeah, you can quote me on that.  Listen, listen. You know, we pride ourselves at being a high class establishment here at Il Giardino.  Well, you know what? Our customers do feel safe. It’s my responsibility to make them feel safe, and the staff. Look, I’m not gonna let this go.  I’m gonna find out what happened because Tom and Hollis weren’t just employees. I lost two of my friends.

Ridge: Sorry, I’m not trying to make light of two people dying, but the restaurant is going to take a hit.  The press loves a scandal.

Steffy: Bad press will be the least of his worries if the cops actually look into this.

Hope: Wait, you’re not saying that you think my dad had something to do with this.

Ridge: Two people died at his restaurant, and he’s got a bit of a shady past, so, yeah.

Steffy: Deacon is no saint, but it isn’t difficult to connect the dots and realize who’s behind this.

Deacon:  No, no, that’s not what I said. Look, uh, Tom and Hollis were good men. They were good friends. Why don’t you try printing that?

Sheila: Reporter?

Deacon: No…vulture!  Guy just wanted click bait. You know, he’s making it seem like Il Giardino’s cursed or something.

Sheila: Well, isn’t that the way you’re feeling?

Deacon: Maybe, but I sure as hell don’t want it over the news!

Sheila: You think it’s going to be bad for the restaurant.

Deacon: Ah, it ain’t gonna be good for it.  I’m not upset. I’m just sick to my stomach. I lost my friends; I don’t know why. I wanna know why. I wanna know what the hell happened.

Li: It’s obvious who killed these two men.

Poppy: Uh, not to me.

Li: You wanna deny it?

Finn: Mom, what are you saying?

Li: What should be perfectly clear to everyone.  Two employees of Il Giardino are dead. Overdosed on the same drug and killed at the same place.

Finn: You keep saying, “killed,” but the report just —

Lie: The report only gives us part of the story, Finn. We know the rest.  These two men came in contact with an unstable woman who has a history of violent, criminal behavior: Sheila Carter.  Sheila Carter killed those men.

Hope: My dad wants to know how this happened more than anyone.

Steffy: Even if his wife’s behind it?

Hope: Well, I mean, if… tom and hollis died because of, I don’t know, a shooting or stabbing, I could see that. But let’s not forget, tom did die of an overdose.

Steffy: Sheila hurts people any way she can.

Brooke: It’s true, honey. She’s capable of anything.

Hope: And I am not denying that or defending her.

Steffy: This is not a coincidence, hope.

Hope: Yeah, but they can happen.

Ridge: Not like this, they can’t, what are you talking about? Two people died unexpectedly in the same place. You throw sheila into the mix, you gotta wonder about it, right?

Hope: Okay, fine, yes. Yes, I agree.

Steffy: So what are you gonna tell us? Keep an open mind about sheila? Give her a chance?

Hope: No.

Steffy: Because your gut is telling you the same thing mine is.

Hope: [Sighing] Yes. Tom and hollis could have died because of sheila.

Sheila: Don’t let that reporter get to you.

Deacon: That’s not him. It’s this whole damn situation.

Sheila: But you had nothing to do with it.

Deacon: Sheila, I have everything to do with it. It’s my restaurant. They were my friends.

Sheila: And they know that you cared about them, deacon.

Deacon: I was upstairs when hollis died, steps away, and he was down here alone.

Sheila: But you didn’t know.

Deacon: I still don’t know. What happened? What the hell happened to hollis?

[Distant car horn honking]

Sheila: Did the reporter ask you about that?

Deacon: Oh, yeah, no, I mean, he wants to make this seem like it’s the scandal of the century.

Sheila: But that’s his job. You’ve got to sensationalize, or people aren’t going to pay attention.

Deacon: Tom and hollis deserved attention before they died.

Sheila: And you gave them that… baby, you gave them attention, care, respect.

Deacon: Yeah, well, apparently not where it really mattered, right? Tom said he was sober, and then he od’s? It doesn’t make sense.

Sheila: No, but people make their own choices. Sometimes just one bad decision has– has a tragic outcome.

Deacon: What are you saying? You think hollis made a bad decision? I mean, do you think he was sick or… just think he was in the wrong place at the wrong time? We have no idea why hollis died.

Finn: [Sighing] You think sheila did this?

Li: Don’t you dare defend that sociopath. I don’t care if she gave birth–

Finn: No, I’m not defending her. I admit, I couldn’t help but think the same thing. Two co-workers, in the same workplace, the same substance.

Li: I’m so relieved to hear you say that.

Poppy: I don’t know sheila very well, but she does have kind of a frightening history. I agree with my sister. If foul play was involved, then sheila has to be the prime suspect.

Finn: Yes, but at this point, we can’t say what happened to hollis and tom weren’t accidental overdoses. I mean, there’s an epidemic of drug-related deaths in this country. I mean, we see it all the time in the er. The amount of deaths that is out there, that drug kills.

Li: Yes, it sure does. But so does sheila. Do I need to remind you of how she terrorized us? Shot you, held you hostage… rammed me off the road and… left me to die.

[Engine roaring]

Li: Damn it, sheila! Aah! God!

[Engine revving]

[Car horns honking]

Li: Back off, you crazy bitch!

[Crash]

[Booming]

[Tires squealing]

Li: Aah!

Li: I am absolutely certain sheila carter murdered those two men. A mystery!

Ridge: Everyone warned deacon to cut ties with sheila. Everyone.

Steffy: She doesn’t deserve an ounce of sympathy or understanding. Getting close to sheila, you’re inviting chaos into your life.

Brooke: If deacon didn’t see it before, he has to realize it now.

Hope: Yes, but I’m still just stuck on the motive. If she is responsible for tom and hollis’s deaths, why?

Steffy: Well, finn is at the hospital with li right now, and li is overseeing hollis’s autopsy.

Brooke: Good, she’ll make sure the truth comes out.

Steffy: Sheila killed those men. There is no doubt in my mind. I don’t know how, I don’t know why. But when I figure this out, they’re gonna get justice. Her days of hurting people and endangering my family are over. This time, sheila carter’s gonna pay.

Sheila: You… you’re asking me things I can’t answer.

Deacon: I know. I’m sorry. I know you’re struggling, too.

Sheila: Oh, you can see that?

Deacon: Of course I can. I mean, you found hollis. I can still hear you screaming in my head. You know, this place was supposed to be our oasis. Feels like a plague has fallen on il giardino.

Sheila: Look, it’s sad what happened to tom and hollis, but their two deaths could be completely unrelated.

Deacon: They both happened here.

Sheila: That’s because this is where they spent their time. It is possible that… these were just two tragic accidents.

Deacon: We’ll know soon enough.

Sheila: What? What do you mean, deacon?

Deacon: Look, I don’t know if it’s because I was talking to that idiot reporter or the general ominous feeling around here now, but my mind is starting to go to some very dark places. I’m starting to think that maybe tom and hollis’s death… was anything but an accident.

Li: I am certain sheila carter targeted those two innocent men. Penelope seems pretty sure of that herself. What about you, finn?

Finn: I’m not conducting the investigation, mom.

Li: But you do care about the case?

Finn: Yeah, for a lot of reasons, and I meant it. It would be irresponsible and short-sighted to ignore sheila’s history.

Li: You don’t have to be diplomatic with me. Not about her.

Finn: Okay, is it possible that she was involved? Yeah, that is a valid question.

Li: They both died from the same drug.

Finn: Which is worth looking into.

Li: That’s exactly what I’m going to do right now.

Finn: What?

Li: I’m going over there.

Finn: What, to the– to the restaurant?

Li: Yes, I’m going to go to il giardino and confront that mad woman.

Finn: Okay, mom, you can’T… you can’t just go, there is no conclusive evidence that directly ties sheila to this.

Li: What? Except for that we know her. We know what she’s capable of.

Finn: [Sighing] Okay, then I’ll go with you.

Li: No. Absolutely not. How many times do I have to tell you, you cannot go anywhere near sheila. [Scoffs ]I won’t let you undermine your marriage, okay? Endanger your family. You promised steffy that you would stay far away from that woman. I can do this alone.

[Knocking on door]

[Distant hospital pa chatter]

Steffy: They said I could find you here.

Finn: Hey, what’re… what’re you… hey…

Steffy: Is it– is it done? Is the autopsy finished?

Li: Yes.

Steffy: So, what– what happened? How did hollis die?

Li: Just like tom starr. Hollis was murdered by sheila.

Deacon: Hope, you know how much I love you. You and the kids. You– you mean the world to me. But so does sheila. I asked sheila to marry me.

Ridge: Everyone warned deacon to cut ties with sheila.

Steffy: Getting close to sheila, you’re inviting chaos into your life.

Hope: If she is responsible for tom and hollis’s deaths, why?

Steffy: There is no doubt in my mind– sheila killed those men.

[Echoing] …Killed those men.

Brooke: How are you doing, sweetheart?

Hope: I, uh… I’m just worried about dad. The restaurant. It’s heartbreaking, what happened to hollis. He was so young.

Brooke: It is. It’s hard to believe.

Hope: And to die like that? All alone. The fact that they didn’t find the body until the next day, it’s horrible. Like, I just want to understand why this happened.

Ridge: That’s funny, you wanna know why this happened? You know why this happened. We all know why it happened. Your father led sheila into his life. That’s what happened. That’s it.

Hope: Steffy believes that once we have the autopsy results, we will get the whole picture. But what if we don’t? I mean, what if it just raises more questions than we already have? I– you know my dad. He’s going to want solid, concrete proof before he’s even capable of believing that sheila had anything to do with it.

Ridge: Well, you know what I think? I think he’s not going to believe whatever’s in the autopsy report anyway.

Hope: Well, great. What’s that gonna do for our relationship?

[Sighing] What am I saying? No, that’s not the point. That is not important right now. Hollis is dead. His family is never going to get to see him again.

Ridge: And that’s awful. But all we can do right now is make sure it doesn’t happen again. Steffy’s right. This is sheila. This is all about sheila.

Sheila: What are you saying?

Deacon: I’m saying that this doesn’t add up. It just feels wrong.

Sheila: You just lost two of your friends. No, no, no.

Deacon: No-no-no, it’s not that, it’s like there’S… I don’t know, it’s like there’s something or somebody behind this. Okay, tom died of an overdose. And, yes, he had a history, but come on. He was clean. He was turning his life around.

Sheila: [Scoffs] That’s because you were helping him. You wanted to see him succeed.

Deacon: Yes, and if tom had died and that was it, I would be sad enough. But then you come downstairs and you find hollis dead.

Sheila: I get it. You can’t believe that these were just tragic accidents. I mean, your friends are gone, and you don’t want their deaths to be meaningless or random. First tom and then hollis. It is upsetting and tragic. But it’s not murder.

Steffy: Murder?

Li: [Sighing] This is sheila we’re talking about.

Steffy: You’re saying that the autopsy pointed to sheila?

Finn: Well, that’s– that’s my mother’s interpretation.

Li: Which you agree is possible.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: Wait, how– how did hollis die?

Finn: Well, he and tom died the same way.

Steffy: Drug overdose?

Li: That’s not all.

Finn: The details of the report show that hollis’s death is suspicious. And I don’t want to jump to any conclusions, but I can’t deny that the report is concerning. But similarities between these cases wouldn’t be unexpected. I mean, tom and hollis, they were acquainted. They worked in the same place, and they probably socialized with the same people, but…

Steffy: But what?

Finn: Not only did hollis overdose, he died of the same drug that killed tom.

Steffy: The same drug?

Li: Yes.

Steffy: Sheila. Tom and hollis, they didn’t die by accident. There are no accidents when sheila is around. You’re telling me these two guys dropped dead at a place where Sheila works and lives? I mean, come on. You told me that Deacon and Hollis, when they heard that Tom died, and that he was using drugs, that they were shocked. And Hollis, he was even offended … now he dies the exact same way?

Frinn: No, it’s strange.

Li: Sinister.

Steffy: Oh, it’s awful.  Sheila did this. Sheila killed Tom and Hollis. Oh, my God.  I don’t know how, or why, but one thing is certain. This time, Sheila will pay for her crimes.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Kate goes to see Chad at the Horton House and tells him that she and Abe have an exciting new project that she’s hoping he will invest in. Chad asks what the pitch is but Kate asks if he’s sure this is a good time since he seems distracted. Chad then informs Kate that there was a bit of a surprise when they went to Abigail’s grave.

At the hospital, Kayla tells Stephanie about Abigail’s grave being empty. Stephanie asks if this proves she’s alive. Kayla says not necessarily since Clyde could’ve had someone remove the body. Stephanie calls that evil and says she wishes Steve wasn’t in Greece so he could help Chad out. Kayla says Steve will be back soon. Stephanie notes that if Abigail is alive, that means she’s been apart from her family for so long and she wonders how or in what condition she’s in. Kayla calls it too much to fathom right now. Stephanie adds that even before this came up, she’s been thinking a lot about Abigail because of Everett. Kayla says she’s sorry as she knows it’s been rough. Stephanie wants so badly to help Everett but worries it’s impossible to reach him.

Bobby picks out a shirt in his room at the Salem Inn.

Gabi comes out from the Brady Pub and runs in to Jada. They hug as Jada says it’s so good to see her and such a relief that she’s finally free. Gabi still feels like she’s dreaming. Jada assures that she’s back where she belongs and that Rafe is so happy since it broke his heart when he couldn’t prove her innocence. Gabi knows Rafe and Jada did everything they could. Jada thanks her but says Rafe and Stefan deserve all the credit for giving the evidence to the judge that got her cleared. Gabi says she’s grateful and relieved to know who really killed Li. Jada then reveals maybe they don’t.

Rafe calls Paulina from the cemetery and says they finished processing the scene and to send someone down to fill in the grave. Rafe tells her that an open grave can definitely be dangerous. Connie then arrives and stabs Rafe in the back. Connie remarks that it looks like the open grave was the least of his worries.

Paulina tells Abe that she was on the phone with Rafe and then he just cut off. Paulina guesses it was bad reception and that Rafe will call back if he needs her.

Rafe struggles on the ground and reaches for his phone but loses consciousness. Connie states that it’s nothing personal but a deal is deal. Connie declares that Bobby wants to be with Jada and Rafe was in the way. Connie thinks back to making the deal with Bobby. Connie states that now Bobby has a clear path to winning back his ex and no reason to out her as Li’s killer.

Gabi questions Jada not thinking Gil was Li’s killer because Bobby said it was someone else and asks what exactly Bobby said. Jada says that Bobby just said that he saw the killer and he was about to tell her more but they got interrupted by Everett.

Stephanie tells Kayla that she talked to her aunt Kimberly about Everett and she mostly told her to be patient which is hard to do when she can’t do anything to help. Stephanie mentions asking Jada to talk to Bobby, hoping she could convince him to let Everett out. Kayla asks how that went. Stephanie doesn’t know but assumes if she made any progress, she would’ve heard by now. Stephanie then gets a call from Marlena, who tells her about “Everett” coming back. Stephanie is excited and hangs up, then tells Kayla that Everett has re-emerged and has been released from Bayview so she has to go see him. Kayla stops her and asks if she’s sure that’s a good idea. Kayla suggests giving Everett time to reacclimate. Stephanie brings up that they just talked about impatient she is and points out that she hasn’t seen Everett in a month and a half, so she needs to go talk to him and know that he’s really back. Stephanie says watching him go through all this has made her realize how much she cares about him, so Kayla tells her to go ahead and be with him. Stephanie then exits the hospital.

Bobby has a drink and remarks that when he and Jada were good, they were crazy about each other so he can’t wait to pick up where they left off, assuming Connie keeps up her end of the bargain. Bobby then imagines Jada showing up at his door to be with him. Bobby hopes all his dreams come true and finishes his drink.

Jada tells Gabi that now that “Everett” is back in control, she can’t get what she needs from Bobby snice Everett can’t access what Bobby saw that night. Gabi relates to knowing how challenging split personalites can be since Abigail had Gabby. Jada says she’s relieved that Everett is back, but she can’t help but hope there’s a way to get the information from Bobby. Gabi brings up Rafe thinking that Bobby is playing games to spend more time with her. Jada says her gut tells her that Bobby was being straight with her. Gabi questions how to explain Li’s bloody fingerprint on Gil’s black book.

Connie declares that it’s time to make Rafe disappear and jokes that no one can say she didn’t give him a proper burial.

Paulina makes a call to have the cemetery workers fill in Abigail’s grave so they don’t get a lawsuit from someone falling in. Abe says he’s just trying to process Abigail’s coffin being empty. Paulina calls it creepy as hell. Abe points out that it could mean Abigail is really alive. Paulina says it must be so hard on Chad to not know and that he must be going out of his mind.

Kate tells Chad it’s unbelievable and asks if he really thinks there’s a chance that Clyde has Abigail. Chad admits that the empty coffin seems to back up his story. Kate says they all know Clyde is capable of some crazy things. Chad says that Rafe and Kayla said the same thing. Kate questions Chad thinking he might be telling the truth. Chad informs her that there’s a video that he got from a flash drive inside of a safety deposit box. Chad says in the video, you can’t see her face but it could be her and it’s killing him that Abigail could be out there somewhere and he has no idea how to find her. Chad says he must have watched the video a thousand times and it could be Abigail or it could be another of Clyde’s games. Kate says she’s so sorry this is happening to him and asks if there’s anything she can do. Chad thanks her and says he sent the video in to be enhanced and Jack is there now, so there’s nothing to do but sit around and wait. Kate decides she will wait with him. Chad goes back to asking about her business proposition and says he could use a distraction. Kate asks if he’s sure. Chad says he is and asks what she and Abe are working on. Kate then asks Chad how he feels about soap operas.

Abe reads up on Body and Soul on his laptop. Paulina jokes with Abe about missing his favorite TV show. Abe explains that he and Kate might try to save his favorite TV show which Paulina questions. Abe reveals they’d be producing it themselves. Paulina didn’t know he had an interest in TV production. Abe admits it’s Kate’s idea as she thinks they can create a soap opera and now that Body and Soul has been cancelled, they might try to buy the rights. Paulina says it sounds perfect to her. Abe asks if she doesn’t think it’s too ambitious since it will be a lot of hard work. Paulina calls it a labor of love and they already have a built-in audience. Paulina adds that Abe already knows the show so well. Abe says he thought he did but there are decades of history with the show so you’d have no idea of all the outlandish stories that have been told over the years. Paulina tells Abe to try her. Abe then reveals there are aliens, talking dolls, and split personalities.

Bobby gets out of the shower as Stephanie shows up at his door and asks who he was expecting.

Jada admits to Gabi that she doesn’t know how the pieces of the puzzle fit together yet, but she thinks Bobby really saw something that night. Gabi says if Gil murdered Li, they know Gil is dead but if it wasn’t Gil, she doesn’t like the idea of the killer just walking around free. Jada decides that she should go find Rafe to fill him in on what happened with Bobby. Gabi informs Jada that Rafe said he was heading to the cemetery to check on Abigail’s grave.

Connie tells herself that she will cover Rafe with enough dirt and no one will ever know. She remarks that it sounds like something from a true crime podcast. Jada then comes calling for Rafe so Connie runs away. Jada then finds Rafe on the ground with the knife in his back.

Kate explains to Chad about how she and Abe plan to produce Body and Soul. Chad says he doesn’t know anything about soap operas. Kate says she and Abe are very confident that they can grow the existing audience and make a substantial profit. Chad mentions having a good time working on Johnny’s project with him so he agrees to dip his toe in the entertainment world one more time.

Paulina jokes with Abe that she would love being married to a big time TV producer. Abe says he and Kate have to secure the rights first. Paulina questions if this means they need to move to LA. Abe says definitely not since there are tax incentives to shoot locally. Paulina asks if he thinks he can convince the actors to move from Hollywood to the Midwest. Abe says he hopes so as he knows the fans hope to use the same person, but if they have to, they can always recast since they do that all the time on soap operas and fans seem to be cool with it.

Gabi calls Ava and leaves a message, saying she’s sorry for ambushing her earlier and she doesn’t blame her for rushing off but she wanted her to know she’s serious about reviving the Gabi Chic brand and she’s already putting together a team. Connie then appears behind her and says that’s so exciting as she asks where to sign up.

Jada questions who did this to Rafe and checks his pulse, confirming he is still alive. Jada urges Rafe to stay with her as she calls for help.

Bobby pretends to be Everett and claims to Stephanie that he ordered room service, so he was expecting the food. He asks how she knew he was discharged. Stephanie says that Marlena told her and she can’t believe he’s back as she was so worried that she’d never seen him again. Stephanie hugs him. He says he appreciates her concern. Stephanie says she has so much to tell him that she doesn’t know where to begin. He says he has something to tell her too, so she tells him to go first. Kate tells Chad that she will send the paper work over for him to sign but there’s no rush as she knows he has a lot on his mind. Kate asks him to keep her notified about Abigail which Chad agrees to do. Kate doesn’t want to get his hopes up, but thinks it’s worth noting that he has lost Abigail before and by some miracle, she came back to him, so it’s not a remote possibility that it could happen again. Chad admits he’s definitely thought about that too and maybe that’s why he’s never been able to move on all these years because subconsciously, he feels like she’s still out there.

Stephanie questions “Everett” not wanting to see her anymore. He says it’s not about what he wants but about what he needs and that Marlena thinks he has a long way to go before he’s fully integrated and it will take a lot of therapy. He says that means he shouldn’t be dating anyone right now because he has to focus all his energy in to becoming mentally healthy. He tells Stephanie that he’s so sorry. Stephanie says she understands his mental health comes first and she will be there for him as a friend. Stephanie says she gets it and respects his decision, but if he needs her, she’s there for him. He calls her the best and says he’ll never forget how hard she fought for him. Stephanie says she just wants him to be happy and tells him to take care as she then exits the room. Bobby then rolls his eyes and smiles.

Connie introduces herself to Gabi and reminds her that she was at her press conference which Gabi remembers. Connie remarks that she knew Gabi didn’t kill Li Shin. Gabi says she’s glad they finally found the evidence to prove her innocence. Connie says she couldn’t help but overhear that she plans to revive Gabi Chic and says she’d love to work for her. Gabi asks if she has any experience in corporate retail. Connie says that she does and that she has all of her products. Gabi suggests she send her resume. Connie promises that she won’t regret giving her a chance and remarks that she’s extremely loyal so she wouldn’t have to worry about her stabbing her in the back…

Jada watches as Kayla and a nurse work on Rafe in a hospital room. Kayla mentions that he’s lost a lot of blood and orders an x-ray and ultrasound. Jada tries to ask how bad it is but Kayla tells her she needs to leave the room and promises they will take care of him. Jada calls out to Rafe that she loves him as she exits the room.

Kate goes to Abe and Paulina’s to announce that Chad is going to invest in the show which Abe calls wonderful. Kate believes they have the capital to make the show. Paulina wants in on it too and says she can write them a big check. Abe and Kate don’t think that’s a good idea, pointing out that they will need city permits to shoot local and she’s the Mayor. Paulina sees where they are going. Abe says that’s why he didn’t ask her to invest but they do appreciate the offer. Kate adds that the other good news is that she arranged a meeting with the studio and they are interested in selling the rights to Body and Soul. Abe exclaims that this is actually going to happen. Kate declares that they are going to bring Body and Soul back from the dead.

Stephanie goes to see Chad and tells him that Kayla told her about Abigail, so she came to see how he’s doing. Chad says he’s hanging. Stephanie hopes there is a positive outcome. Chad asks if there’s any update on Everett. Stephanie responds that he was released from Bayview today. Chad guesses that’s good news. Stephanie thinks back to “Everett” breaking things off with her. Stephanie tells Chad that it is good news and that he has a long way to go but at least Bobby is not in control of his life anymore…

Connie goes to see Bobby at the Salem Inn. Bobby questions what she’s doing there and worries about someone seeing them together. Connie tells him to relax and assures that she was careful. Bobby explains to her that he faked being Everett so he could get out of Bayview and avoid telling Jada that she killed Li as he promised. Bobby then asks what she’s doing to hold up her end of the bargain.

At the hospital, Jada makes a call saying to search every inch of the cemetery and find the son of a bitch who stabbed Rafe. Jada thinks back to when she first agreed to move in with Rafe as she holds back tears. Gabi then arrives and asks Jada where Rafe is. Jada informs her that they are working on him now. Gabi asks how he is. Jada says he’s lost a lot of blood after being stabbed from behind. Gabi questions who could have done this.

Bobby asks Connie how soon Rafe will be out of the picture. Connie responds that it’s already done which Bobby questions. Connie assures that Rafe is not going to be a problem for him or anyone else ever again.

Kayla and the nurse go over Rafe’s charts but Rafe flatlines and goes in to shock. Kayla orders the nurse to increase the oxygen flow as they are losing him.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Uh, sorry. I, uh, forgot that you were stopping by.

Is it a bad time?

Uh, no. So uh, you had a– a business thing that you wanted to talk about?

Well, yes, I did. I mean, Abe and I are looking for investors for an exciting new project, and I was hoping that you would come on.

OK. So what’s the pitch?

Are you sure this is a good time? Because you seem distracted. I mean, is something going on?

Um, yeah, I’m sorry. Uh, so there was a bit of a surprise when we, uh, went to Abby’s grave.

[ominous music]

Abigail’s coffin was empty?

Yeah. Chad and your Uncle Jack saw it with their own eyes.

So does this prove she’s alive?

Well, no, not necessarily. I mean, Clyde could have had one of his guys remove the body just to back up his story.

That would be so horribly evil.

Well, that about describes Clyde Weston.

I wish Papa weren’t in Greece right now so he could help Chad figure this out.

I know. But hopefully your father will be back soon.

But if Abigail is alive, that would mean she’s been apart from her family for so long. And where, and under what conditions?

I know. It’s just too much to fathom right now.

It is. But even before this possibility came up, I’ve been thinking a lot about Abigail.

Because of Everett?

[sighs]

I’m sorry, baby. I know that this has been rough.

I want so badly to help him, Mom. But Bobby’s making it impossible to reach him.

Not too many choices, huh, Everett? Gray T-shirt or black T-shirt? Black one it is.

[tense music]

Gabi!

[gasps] Oh my god! It is so good to see you. Oh, and such a relief that you are finally free.

I still feel like I’m dreaming.

Well, you are not. You are right back here, right back at home where you belong. And your brother is so happy. It broke his heart when he couldn’t find a way to prove your innocence.

I know Rafe did everything he could.

Yeah, well–

And so did you.

Oh, thank you. But your brother and your husband, they deserve all the credit. They’re the ones who got the evidence in front of the judge to get your conviction overturned.

And I am so grateful for that.

Mm.

And relieved that we finally know who really killed Li.

Actually, maybe we don’t.

[foreboding music]

Yes, Paulina, I’m at the gravesite now. We finished processing the scene. Hey, make sure you send someone down here to fill in this hole. Thanks. Yeah. An open grave can definitely be dangerous. Yeah.

[screams]

[groans]

Looks like that open grave was the least of your worries.

[dramatic music]

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

Rafe, are you there? Hello? Hmm.

[phone beeps] Hmm.

Something wrong?

Well, I was just talking to Commissioner Hernandez, and then he just cut off. Probably just bad reception. I’m sure he’ll call me back if he needs me.

[ominous music]

[groans]

[groaning]

Nothing personal, Commish. It’s just a deal’s a deal. Bobby Stein wants to be with Jada Hunter, and you are in the way.

– I’m not worried. Commish or no commish, Jada will come around.

What, you think she’s going to be so grateful to you for helping her solve Li’s murder that she’s going to fall into your arms and declare her undying love for you? Please. You’re just part of the job to her. And when the job is done, she’s going back to the boyfriend. The one with only one personality.

You did your research.

It doesn’t take a lot of effort to sneak a look at a chart around here.

Well, either way, I think I’ll take my chances.

Or– what if there’s an easier solution for both of us?

Which is what?

You keep my name out of this, and I’ll take care of the commish.

Now Bobby has a clear path for winning back his ex and no reason to out me as Li Shin’s killer.

So you don’t think Gil Carter murdered Li because your ex claims it was someone else?

Rafe told you, huh?

He did, yeah. So what exactly did Bobby tell you?

He just told me that he saw the killer. Like, shortly after the crime happened.

Did he describe him to you? Or her?

He didn’t get a chance to. He was about to tell me, but then we got interrupted by Everett.

Ah.

Have you talked to your Aunt Kimberly for advice about Everett?

I have, actually. She mostly said just to be patient, which I’m not good at, as you well know.

Yes, I do. It’s also hard to be patient when you care about somebody, and they’re suffering.

Especially when you can’t do anything to help.

Yeah.

Although I did ask Jada to talk to Bobby. I was hoping that she could convince him to let Everett out.

How’d that go?

I don’t know. Jada and I have been playing phone tag. But I’m assuming if she’d made any progress, I would have heard by now.

[phone rings] It’s Marlena.

Mm.

[phone beeps]

Hello. When? Where is he now? That’s great. Thank you for letting me know. I will. Talk soon.

I take it it’s good news?

Everett’s re-emerged. He’s been released from Bayview. I have to go see him.

Steph, wait. I– are you sure that’s a good idea?

[tense music]

You know, honey, maybe you need to give Everett a little time, you know, to reacclimate.

But we just talked about how impatient I am. And if you don’t count that disaster of a visit that I had with his alter, I haven’t seen Everett in a month and a half. Mom, I– I need to go talk to him. I need to– I need to know that he’s really back.

You really care about him, don’t you?

I do. And I think watching him go through all of this has made me realize just how much.

Then go. Go be with him. Go on.

[elevator dings]

[sighs]

[liquid sloshing]

Jada and I, when we were good, man, we were crazy about each other.

[slurps] Mmm. Can’t wait to pick up where we left off. Assuming that freak who killed Li Shin keeps up her end of the bargain.

[slurps]

[exhales] Whew. Wow. Detective Hunter, uh, it’s so great to see you.

[chuckles] Detective Hunter? You don’t have to pretend anymore, Bobby.

How’d you know it was me?

My cop instincts. And the way you looked at me.

I, uh– I’m sorry I tricked you. I just– I had to get out of that cuckoo’s nest. You’re not going to make me go back, are you?

Well, if I did that–

[door slams] –then I couldn’t do this.

[exhales]

[exhales] Let’s hope all my dreams come true. Mmm.

So now that Everett’s back in control–

I can’t get what I need from Bobby.

Ah.

Yeah. Um, the information that he claimed to have on Li Shin’s murder, you know, Everett can’t access what Bobby saw that night.

Unfortunately, I’m well acquainted with split personalities and how challenging they can be, to put it mildly. Abigail DiMera even named one of her alters after me. Gabby with a Y.

Oh.

So I know all too well how one personality can know one thing, and not the other. It– yeah.

Wow. Uh, well, as much as I am relieved that Everett’s back, I just can’t help but hope that there’s a way to get that information from Bobby.

You know, Rafe thinks Bobby is bluffing, playing games just so he can spend more time with you.

Yes, I do know that. But I’m telling you, my gut– my gut tells me that he was being straight with me.

And what about Li’s bloody fingerprint on Gil’s book? If Gil wasn’t the killer, then how do you explain that?

[sighs]

[tense music]

OK, time to make you disappear.

And isn’t it lovely how things work out sometimes? At least no one can say I didn’t give you a proper burial.

Please have the cemetery workers fill in Abigail DiMera’s grave. The last thing that this city needs is a lawsuit from some poor soul who tripped and fell in. Mm, thanks.

[phone beeps] Oh.

You know, I’m just trying to process Abigail’s coffin being empty.

I know. It’s creepy as hell.

Yeah. I mean, it could mean that Abigail is really alive.

Mm, if only. Oh my god, but it must be so hard on Chad to not know. Oh, poor– poor guy. He must be going out of his mind.

[exhales]

I mean, that’s unbelievable. Do you really think there’s a chance that Clyde has Abigail?

Well, I mean, you know, the empty coffin seems to back up his story.

Yeah, but I mean, that could be it. It could be a story. We all know that– that Clyde is capable of some crazy stuff.

Yeah, I know, I know. Rafe and Kayla, uh, said the same thing.

But you believe that he might be telling the truth.

There’s a video.

There’s a video?

Yeah. Uh, Clyde told me about a safe deposit box. Inside of it was a flash drive. And uh, it’s a video of a woman. And uh, you can’t really tell. You can’t see her face, but it could be her.

Oh my god.

Yeah. And it’s– it’s killing me to think that that, uh– that she could be out there somewhere. And I have no idea how to find her.

[tense music]

Yeah, I must have watched the video a thousand times.

So it could be Abigail, or–

Yeah, or it could just be another one of Weston’s games.

[sighs] I am so sorry this is happening to you. I really am. I– is there anything that I can do?

No. Thank you, but no. I, um, I sent the video to be enhanced, and Jack’s there right now pushing them to get it done. So you know, nothing to do but sit around and wait.

OK. Can I wait with you?

Yeah. Yeah, I’d like that. Uh– um, the– your business proposition. Uh, what’s it about? I could use a distraction.

Are you sure?

Yes. Yeah. What are you and Abe working on?

[exhales] How do you feel about soap operas?

What you doing?

I’m reading up on “Body & Soul.”

Aw, are you missing your favorite TV show?

[laughs] Well, the reason I’m doing this research is that Kate and I might try to save my favorite TV show.

Save it how?

By producing it ourselves.

Uh.

[laughs] Abraham Carver, I didn’t know you had an interest in TV production.

Well, it’s– it’s Kate’s idea. She thinks that we can create a soap opera.

Oh. And now that “Body & Soul” has been canceled–

We might try to buy the rights.

Oh!

[laughs]

[laughs]

Well, uh, that sounds perfect to me.

So you don’t think it’s– it’s too ambitious? I mean, it’s going to be a lot of hard work.

[laughs] The way you feel about those characters? Oh, it would be a labor of love. Not to mention you already have a built-in audience, and you– you already know that show so well.

Well, I thought I did. But I mean, there are decades of history with this show. I mean, you have no idea of all the outlandish stories that have been told over the years.

Mm. Try me.

OK. All right. Well, there are aliens, talking dolls, split personalities.

[tense music]

[sighs] Stupid.

[knock at door] Jada.

[snaps fingers]

[panting] Oh, it’s you.

Who were you expecting?

[mystical music]

I’ll admit, I don’t know how the pieces of this puzzle fit together. Not yet.

So you think Bobby really saw something that night?

I do.

OK. So if Gil was the one that murdered Li, then we know he’s dead. And if it wasn’t him, I don’t like the idea of the killer just walking around free.

Me neither. Anyway, uh, I should probably go find your brother and fill him in on what happened today with Bobby.

I’ll save you some trouble. He said he was headed to the cemetery to check on Abigail’s grave.

Once I get you into this grave, I’ll cover you with enough dirt that no one knows you’re down there. Then they’ll fill in the rest for me, and no one will ever be the wiser. Sounds like something you’d hear on one of those true crime podcasts.

Rafe?

Oh, shoot.

Rafe, you here? Oh my god, Rafe!

[dramatic music]

So if Abe and I secure the rights to “Body & Soul,” we’ll be able to produce it right here in Salem.

Well, look, I don’t– I don’t know anything about soaps, you know? I know my mom used to watch them, but I don’t remember anything about them, so…

Yeah, well, there’s definitely a lot fewer than there used to be. But Abe and I are very confident that we can grow the existing audience and make a substantial profit.

[contemplative music]

Well, look, I had a good time, you know, working on Johnny’s project with him, you know, even though it never got off the ground. So yeah, sure. I’ll dip my toe in the entertainment world one more time.

What? OK. Is that a yes?

Yes. Definite yes. Sure. Let’s make some soap.

Yes!

Oh, I would love being married to a big-time TV producer.

[laughter] Ooh, do you think we’ll get to go to the Daytime Emmys?

Oh, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Kate and I have to secure the rights first.

Oh, wait. Does this mean we need to move to LA?

No, no, no. Definitely not. Definitely not. There are tax incentives to shoot locally.

Oh, OK. But, well, do you think you could convince those actors to leave the glamour of Hollywood and move to our little humble little hamlet here in the Midwest?

I don’t know. I hope so. I– I know the, uh, the fans, they would prefer to use the same person. But, well, if we have to, we can always recast.

Recast?

Yeah. I mean, on soaps, they– they do it all the time, and fans seem to be cool with it.

Mm.

Ava, hi. Sorry I ambushed you earlier. I don’t blame you for rushing off. I want you to know that I’m serious about reviving the Gabi Chic brand at DiMera. Call me back so that we can make this happen. I’m already putting together a team.

How exciting! Where do I sign up?

[tense music]

Oh my god! Oh my god! Who did this to you? All right. OK, good, you still have a pulse. Stay with me. Stay with me, baby. I’m going to get you some help.

[phone beeps]

Sorry about that. Um, I ordered room service. And so I thought it was the food.

Oh, that’s OK. I should have called first.

Yeah. No, no. Um, how did you know, I was discharged?

Marlena told me. I just– I can’t believe you’re really back.

Yeah.

I was so worried I’d never see you again.

Um, I appreciate your concern. Uh, it means a lot to me.

There’s so much I need to tell you. I– I don’t even know where to begin.

Yeah. There’s– there’s something I need to tell you too.

You go first.

OK. Um, it’s about us.

What about us?

[exhales] I’m afraid you and I, we can’t see each other anymore.

[dramatic music]

Well, I am relieved that we can stay here in Salem while you work on “Body & Soul.”

Yeah.

Well, I’d hate to be so far away from Chanel.

You know, if this had happened a few weeks ago, you would have been pushing us to move to LA.

Mm. But not now, now that she and Johnny are staying. Oh, and she’s– she’s doing– you know, she’s doing a little bit better. You know, psychologically, I mean. She’s really anxious to reopen the bakery.

Well, for the record, I would never ask you to leave your children. Or your job as mayor.

Well, I appreciate that. But with all the things going on at city hall, I just might have to give all that up anyway.

What now?

Well, as you know, I had to deal with all that recall nonsense. And now there’s this whole fallout from EJ’s press conference. Stephanie Johnson thought it would be a good opportunity for my new DA to improve his image. But then Gabi DiMera exposed him as a liar.

Yeah. It was pretty shocking.

Ooh, yes, it was. Oh, whew! And if you and Kate ever have any trouble coming up with any stories for “Body & Soul,” well, you– you can feel free to steal that one. Ooh, a district attorney trying to pass off another man’s baby as his own. Oh, sheesh! Ooh.

Well, this, uh– this town has some pretty wild stories.

Mm-hmm.

So if we ever needed inspiration–

[chuckles]

OK, then. I’m going to send the paperwork over for you to sign.

Great.

But no rush on it, because I know you have a lot on your mind. You’ll keep me notified about Abigail?

Yeah, I will.

Look, I don’t want to get your– your hopes up. But I think it’s worth noting that you have lost Abigail before, and by some miracle, she came back to you. So it’s really not a remote possibility that that could happen again.

Well, I definitely have thought about that too. Maybe that’s why I haven’t been able to move on all these years. Because subconsciously, I feel like she’s still out there.

[gentle music]

You don’t want to see me anymore?

It’s not about what I want. It’s– it’s about what I need. Dr. Evans thinks that I have a long way to go, you know, before I’m– I’m fully integrated. That it’s– it’s– it’s going to take a lot of therapy.

Sure. Of course.

Which means I really– I shouldn’t be dating anyone right now. Because you know, I have to focus all my energy into– into becoming mentally healthy.

Right.

I’m so sorry.

No– oh, don’t be. Don’t be. Your mental health comes first. And, um– and I will be there for you as a friend.

Thank you. I– I feel awful about this. But I– but I know it’s for the best.

[sighs] It wouldn’t be fair to you either, you know? Just given my mental struggles, for us to– for us to be involved.

Right. I get it. And I respect your decision. But I want you to know if you need me, I’m here for you.

You really are the best. I’ll never forget how hard you fought for me.

I just want you to be happy, Everett. Take care.

You too. Oh, god.

[sniffs]

[exhales]

Anyway, Ava, uh, call me. Hi. You’re–

Connie. Connie Viniski. I was at your press conference.

Oh.

I congratulated you on your release.

I remember now.

I knew you didn’t kill Li Shin.

Right. Uh, I’m glad that they finally found the evidence to prove my innocence.

Sorry to eavesdrop, but I couldn’t help but overhear. You’re reviving Gabi Chic.

That’s the plan.

Well, I’d love to come work for you.

OK. Uh, do you have any experience in corporate retail?

I sure do. And I have so many of your products. Your wigs, your lavender candles, your jade eggs.

[chuckles] I’m a Gabi Chic stan.

Oh.

[chuckles] OK. So you know a lot about my brand. Uh, why don’t you send me your résumé?

Will do. And I promise if you give me the chance, you won’t regret it. I’m extremely loyal, for one thing. You’d never have to worry about me stabbing you in the back.

Hmm.

We got a four-centimeter stab wound. He’s lost a lot of blood. Type and cross for two units.

On it.

We need to keep track of his BP, OK? We don’t want him going into hypovolemia. I need an X-ray to check his spine, an ultrasound eval to make sure that there’s no renal laceration or any other organs affected.

Kayla, how bad is it?

Listen, I know you’re worried, but you need to step outside, please.

OK, OK. Please, just don’t let him die.

I promise you– I promise you we will take care of him, OK? Please go out.

[machine beeping]

Rafe, I love you.

[tense music]

Good news. Chad is going to invest in the show.

Oh, Kate, that is wonderful.

[laughs]

I believe that we have the capital to pull this off, Abe.

Oh. Well, I want in on it too. I can write you two a nice big check.

Um, I don’t think that’s a good idea.

Why not?

Because we’re going to need city permits to shoot here locally.

Yeah, and you’re the mayor.

Oh. OK. Yeah, I think I see where you’re going with this.

[laughter]

You know, that’s why I didn’t ask you to invest. Yeah, it’s, um– well, we do appreciate the offer.

Yes, we do. We definitely appreciate the offer. The other good news is that I managed to arrange a meeting with the studio.

You mean they’re– they’re interested in selling the rights?

Yes, they are.

Oh, that is just– this is actually going to happen.

Yes. Yes. Believe it, Abe, because you and I are going to bring “Body & Soul” back from the dead.

[laughter]

When my mom told me about Abigail, I had to stop by and see how you’re doing.

Yeah, I’m hanging in there.

[sighs] I just– I hope so much that there’s a, you know, a positive outcome.

Yeah, you and me both. So, um, any updates on Everett?

Actually, he was released from Bayview today.

Yeah? Well, that’s good news, right? – I feel awful about this.

It is, yeah. I mean, he has a long way to go. But at least Bobby is not in control of his life anymore.

What are you doing here? If someone sees us together–

Relax, Bobby. I was careful. You are still Bobby, right?

Yes. I faked being Everett so that I could get out of Bayview and avoid telling Jada that you killed Li.

So you’re keeping quiet about that?

Just like I promised. What are you doing to hold up your end of the bargain?

[ominous music]

You search every inch of that cemetery, and you find the son of a bitch who stabbed the commissioner. Keep me posted.

[tense music]

So you think I should ask you again, huh?

Well, like I said earlier, just because I turned you down the first time– I don’t know. Maybe I see things differently now.

Oh, differently?

Mm-hmm.

Differently how?

Well, if I can be serious for a moment–

OK.

[sighs] My failed marriage, you know, which you now know way more than I’m sure you wanted to. And before that, there was Eric, which also ended very badly, as you know as well. And they were just– they were just disasters, both of them. And uh, I don’t know, it just really got me kind of cynical, you know, about– about relationships in general. And I just viewed relationships, that they just– I don’t know, like men couldn’t be trusted. I just couldn’t trust them. And I don’t know, then you came along. And you’ve really proved me wrong.

Oh, yeah?

Yeah, because you are such a sweet person. And you are loyal, and you’re honest, and you’re kind. And you are sexy.

Ooh.

[laughs] And I’m just so lucky to have you. You, Rafe Hernandez, you’re my person. And I think you should ask me again.

Do you?

Uh-huh.

All right, Jada Hunter. Jada, the sweetest girl I’ve ever met, who also is sweet and kind and loyal and sexy.

[laughs]

You want to move in with me? Oh–

Yes, I do.

Yes?

I do. Yes, I do.

Mmm.

[melancholy music]

[elevator dings]

Jada, where’s my brother?

They’re working on him now.

How is he?

He’s lost a lot of blood. Someone stabbed him from behind.

Oh my god. Who could have done this?

How soon is Rafe Hernandez out of the picture?

It’s already done.

What? Really? You sure?

Trust me, honey. The police commissioner is not going to be a problem for you, or anyone else, ever again.

[dramatic music]

[exhales]

There’s no spinal involvement. It looks like–

[machine beeping rapidly] Increase the oxygen flow. He’s going into shock. We’re losing him.

[dramatic music]

Concerned about Sharon’s recent behavior, Mariah and Tessa, along with Nick, visited her to offer support, but Sharon dismissed their concerns, insisting she was fine.

Meanwhile, Kyle confronted Victor about warning Claire regarding him, leading to a tense exchange where Victor cautioned Kyle against taking advantage of Claire’s naivety. At the Abbott mansion, Summer questioned Harrison about his feelings on moving to Kyle’s new house, causing tension between her and Kyle as they argued over their son’s living arrangements.
