Phyllis: Okay, well, that’s not entirely true. Diane is writing the press release for my division, so I’m going to have to be around her.

Kyle: True. But if you can’t handle the times when you do need to interact, you shouldn’t have the job in the first place. It’s just that simple. Understood?

Phyllis: Summer, are you really…

Diane: Kyle, don’t you think this is a little harsh?

Kyle: Mom, we have a company to run.

Summer: And we’re both committed to its success.

Kyle: Hey, we are in the middle of a huge transition. Moving a company from Milan to Genoa City is a mammoth of an undertaking, and this is a big step for Jabot and my father so, this affects him as well.

Summer: We just don’t need these kinds of distractions.

Kyle: Like I said, you’re both doing great work in your respective jobs. Neither of us want to lose you. We want to see you succeed and be a part of this adventure. But we are done making allowances.

Summer: We’re done with the attacks and the accusations. This is your last warning. Are we clear?

Diane: Oh, I love a good rewrite. Yeah, that’s where the fun comes in, you know, perfecting and streamlining. It’s an important part of my job, especially when the people in charge don’t know what they want.

[ Clicks tongue ] You know, I — I would have *thought* you had learned by now, but maybe — maybe it’s true what they say about teaching an old dog new tricks.

Diane: I would have thought your attacks against me would be more clever than, say — I don’t know — excessive rewrites or — oh! — Planting a false document on my computer. You know, maybe I gave you too much credit.

Phyllis: Oh, Diane. You haven’t given me enough credit.

Phyllis: I was just messing with Diane. It’s fun to do. And, honestly, she was sitting right here. If I wanted to create problems, I would have been more discreet. And it’s Diane’s own fault. She was sucking up to Talia, sucking up to an investigative journalist. If she didn’t want the heat, she shouldn’t have run into the kitchen, quite honestly.

Jack: She shouldn’t have to protect herself. No one deserves to be dragged through the mud like that.

Phyllis: Oh god, I cannot understand why you are so mad about this article. All of it has been published before. All of it. And it’s not like it wasn’t true. It’s all true. But yet again, I’m the one under suspicion for all the horrible things that Diane has done and that were published in that piece.

Adam: Yeah. Well, good riddance, as far as I’m concerned.

Sally: But this — this sounds like a clear-cut case of self-defense. So, why would Victor cover it up?

Adam: Because the chess master cannot resist playing the game. As far as I know, my siblings had nothing to do with this. It was all dear old dad, and the story should reflect that.

Victor: All conversations about Ashland Locke are past tense, okay? Guy’s dead as a doornail. And any investigations into the circumstances of his death are now closed.

Adam: What?

Victor: Yeah. They’re closed. Chance was here earlier. He said he was no longer going to investigate the circumstances of Ashland Locke’s death, so Victoria can now pick up the pieces of her life. So can we all.
