[ Siren wailing in distance ] You know, you’re in my spot. Are you really up here often enough to claim a spot? It comes with being head nurse. You’re here late. Who’s looking after the boys? It’s summer. Jake and aiden are away at camp. And since the night shift pays time-and-a-half, I figured… is this really your spot? Yeah. It’s usually very clearly marked with a ginormous “E.” Is that right? Mm-hmm. So, what makes this spot so special, other than being exclusively yours? I come up here to make sense of everything that happens in this hospital. That’s exactly why I’m here. Don’t worry, ava. I’m taking care of this betty situation. I’m handling it.

How are you handling it, sonny? This woman is gonna be around avery every day, and you know she can’t be trusted. I have eyes on betty. She does anything wrong, my guys get back to me. Okay, well, how long are we gonna have to do this? Play this sick game before we can get betty away from our daughter? It’s gonna be over soon.

[ Door opens ] Ava: Hey. Hey.

[ Chuckles ] Avery, what are you doing up? You should be in bed. Who are you talking to, mommy? Put avery on the phone. Come up here. It’s your dad. He wants to say hi. Hi, daddy.

How you doing, sweetheart? What are you doing up? I couldn’t sleep. Okay, listen, you’re gonna have to get some sleep ’cause you need some rest. It’s a big day tomorrow. I know. I’m so excited. Betty’s taking me to day camp. You’re not gonna have fun tomorrow if you’re falling asleep in day camp.

[ Nina chuckles ] Okay, daddy. I’ll try to sleep. Good night, sweetheart. Good night.

tomorrow, sonny. Alright. Oh, avery’s up awfully late. Well, you know what? She’s a lot like her dad. Doesn’t sleep very well. Well, I know that I sleep great as long as you’re next to me.

[ Whispers ] Hey. What are you doing? Work is over for the day. Is that right? Mm-hmm. Well, what are we gonna do with the rest of our evening?

[ Chuckling ] ‘Cause I got — I got a lot of energy. Do I have to really tell you, detective? We did nothing wrong! Carly: Th-this is crazy! I was accosted! Get your meat hooks off me! I mean, why aren’t you listening to us? Ned and olivia were assaulted. I was just having a beer. And by the way, you arrested the wrong guy. Yeah! Enough. Shut up, or you’re all going down to the holding cell.

Okay. So, carly and i wind up at the highsider because she and I are talking about old times, we wanted to blow off some steam, and carly chose the highsider because it reminded her of this old bar called jake’s that she really used to like to go to. So we get there, and we run into ned — eddie. Eddie. And eddie starts trying to pick up on carly. “Trying”? I was doing a pretty good job. Uh, no, you weren’T. I took advantage of the situation because I was trying to figure out what the hell was going on with ned. Eddie. Wait, you were working me? This is so not the point.

[ Sighs ] Look, I was telling eddie that I knew someone who went through the exact same thing. I was trying to spark some kind of memory in ned, or get eddie to go back to the quartermaines and let them get to know him, somehow. Okay. I-I don’t see where this is going. Where’s the guy come in that wouldn’t leave you alone? And how did this fight start, that ended with all of you here in my custody? Okay. I had to go to the ladies’ room because they put my hand down in a big wad of nacho cheese. I come back from the ladies’ room, and I see ned — eddie — is at the bar, trying to pick up carly. Meanwhile, this lowlife comes over to me, a really totally unpleasant guy, and he starts trying to pick me up, and he wouldn’t take no for an answer.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Excuse me for a minute.

[ Carly speaks indistinctly ]

[ Sighs ] This is detective chase. Uh, yeah, I understand. Okay. Thanks. That was the manager at the highsider. They’re not gonna press charges. Oh!Oh! Great. So — so we can go home? I can release all of you once someone comes down to sign you out. Would anyone like to make a call? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold on. Wait. I have to ask you something. Right now? Mm-hmm. Right now. I promised I would ask, and I don’t want to forget. You promised? Wait, so you want to… you really — you want to ask… yes, yes. …Someone else’s question right now instead of doing this? I do. I have to. Okay, so maxie, she wants to rent your house. Oh.

[ Exhales deeply ] Um…wow. Uh, whose idea was that? Mine.

[ Cellphone ringing ] It’s beautiful. Yeah, it is. So, dr. Finn, what’s got you up on this roof so late? Hey. Are you okay? Yeah, I’m okay. What is it? I lost a patient tonight.

[ Sighs ] I’m sorry. What happened? He traveled for work. Picked up a parasite. I was able to identify it. We started treatment, but something just wasn’t right. He didn’t seem to be getting better. Did he not get treatment in time? Time was the one thing he didn’t have. During treatment, I noticed anomalies in his blood, so I ran some more tests, and… turns out, he also had stage four cancer. And he didn’t know? No. He didn’t know. No one did. His cancer metastasized. He still chose to fight it. He wanted every moment he could to spend with his daughter and his wife. It’s the worst part about our job. It never gets easier. I hate it. I hate it so much. It’s — it’s like a little piece of me dies every time this happens. This one hit me hard. It’s — it’s like it was personal. Personal how? His daughter was a classmate of violet’S. It just made me think… what if — what if that was me?

[ Insects chirping ]

You know, it’s a natural reaction to think about your own life when someone dies. This was different. You know, hayden’s out there somewhere, but no one — no one knows. I’m violet’s only parent. What happens to her if I was gone?

[ Sighs ] Well, if, god forbid, something were to take you away from her, she would still have her uncle chase and her grandfather and me. But you’re not going anywhere. You’re just rattled. And I’m sure you have a will or provisions in place with your dad and your brother. Yeah, with chase. But, you know, he’s — he’s a cop. And he puts his life on the line every day when he goes to work. But he really loves her. I know he does. But maybe that’s not enough. I’ve been thinking that maybe there’s someone who would be better for violet. Like who? You. Will you be violet’s guardian?

[ Sighs ] Sonny? Sonny? Are you — are you sure you’re not upset with me for suggesting that maxie rent your house?

[ Sighs ] Y-yeah, I’m — I’m sure. I just, uh… I haven’t thought about that house in a long time. Okay. W-we don’t have to talk about it I-if you don’t want to, really. Well, no, we can talk about it. We can? Okay. Well, um, you should have seen what I saw when I went over to maxie’s earlier. It was a complete disaster. Georgie and james were fighting. Maxie had to put georgie in her room because georgie and james share a room. And, obviously, it’s, like, too close for comfort, and they just fight all the time. Mm-hmm. And then you add bailey lou into the mix, and… you have the three kids, maxie. That apartment, it is so small. It’s not spacious. And I just thought about your house, and I was like, “oh, what a great idea.” Maxie would be a great renter. And your house is open. And, I mean, maxie’s practically family, right? Dante, say something. Yeah. Yeah, I think it’s a great idea. You do? Yeah, and I think lulu would be really happy that maxie was living there. And I think maxie would take care of that house and her kids would have a place to — you know, a yard to play in. Yeah! I mean, right. Yeah, that’s exactly what I was thinking. Like, james would actually be able to use the yard to play soccer, and then maxie could get bailey lou some sort of swing set or something like that. And then georgie, she would be able to have her friends over, and…I don’t know, they could get a tent and camp out in the backyard and do what kids do. And I just — I-I think it would be — it would be really great for them. Yeah. And, you know, if lulu were to… wake up one day, you know… she’d be the one to decide what to do with that house. Are you sure you’re okay with this? Yeah. I’m sure. I’m sure. I mean, why should that house sit empty and hollow when maxie can be filling it with her family and memories? Are you sure? Yes. You are? I’m sure. It’s perfect. Perfect, right? Yes. That’s what I thought. Everything is perfect. Mm.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Mm. Mnh-mnh. No, no, no. Mnh-mnh. Mm-hmm. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Just take it, please. Take it. Mmm. I know. I know, I know. Take it.

[ Groans ]

[ Grunts ] Falconeri. Dante, it’s chase. We have a little situation down at the station with… your mother. Uh, my mother? Is she alright? Oh, olivia’s fine. My mother’s in the police station. Is olivia okay? Yeah.

What happened? There was a run-in at the highsider, and when the cops got there, let’s just say your mom had a lot to say with a lot of attitude.

but to bring her in. Mason, what the hell are you doing here? Whatcha say, cuz?

[ Groans ] What do you want now? Uh, well…

[ Grunts ] I need a doctor.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Hey, nina. It’s late. What’s up? Sonny. He’s gone. What do you mean, sonny’s gone? I woke up, and he wasn’t next to me. Did you check the rest of the apartment? Yes, ava, I checked the rest of the apartment. And I even asked the guard, and he just told me that sonny had to step out. He didn’t tell me where he went or why he had to leave. Honestly, nina, what did you expect?

[ Sighs ] So, cuz, you can’t just waltz in here and make yourself comfortable whenever you feel like it. I am hardly comfortable. I-I need medical attention. Uh-huh. And who better to go to than my cousin who happens to be a doctor? Better would be the E.R. Or urgent care, whatever normal people do. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have patients, real patients, that I need to attend to. I don’t think you want me going to the E.R., Bleeding all over the place, what, just to ask the nurse to get my cousin, dr. Gatlin-holt. That’s not what you want, right? You’re asking me what I want? What I want is for you to not be here, not at all. I was doing you a favor. You want to do me a favor, mason? Get out of here.

[ Groans ] Look… I didn’t want to draw attention to either one of us. I was trying to be discreet. Yeah. For your sake. Oh, for my sake? Yeah. For you. Mm. Thanks. Here’s what I think. I think that you’re hiding in here from whoever hit you over the back of the head.

[ Scoffs ] So before I treat you, if I treat you at all, you want to tell me what happened? Not really. Okay. Well, then, I don’t want to bandage you up. Oh, fine. Okay. I had an encounter with a lady at a bar. And maybe things got a little out of hand.

[ Chuckles ] Carly: I don’t understand why we have to have someone sign us out. It doesn’t make any sense. Olivia: This is ridiculous. I’m a grown woman. And I don’t understand why –oh, boy, am I glad to see you. Not as glad as I am. You know what? Things need to change around the pcpd. I get hauled into the station for defending myself against some lowlife when there should be a manhunt out there for the jerk who was trying to accost me! What the hell happened here, chase? Well, your mom, carly, and ned started a fight at the highsider.

[ Carly scoffs ] Yeah, you’re damn right we started a fight. The guy wouldn’t take his hands off me. He wouldn’t take no for an answer. Let me tell you what — if this was bensonhurst, oh, boy! My cousins would have had that guy so far out — what? Okay, ma. Okay. Stop. Please, let me handle it. What are the charges? Well, the manager at the highsider said they weren’t gonna press any charges. I think they were glad just to get the three of them out of the bar.

[ Laughs sarcastically ]I mean, you know how this works. If you sign for them, I can release them. Okay, good. Let’s do that. I’ll sign for all three of them. Uh, no, no, no. No. Dante angelo falconeri, no. I did not do anything wrong. And I refuse to be released into my son’s custody. Let’s not do this here. Let me handle it. No. No. No. You just turn around. Turn around and go back the way you came. Oh, yeah? Hey, well, thanks for the offer, but my ride is here.

[ Insects chirping ]

I did nothing wrong, and I refuse to be released into my son’s custody for defending myself against some handsy jerk at a dive bar. And I will stay the night here before I get you involved in this any further. Okay. I admire your principles, mom — you should admire my principles, ’cause they’re the same principles that I instilled in you, and that’s why you turned out as good as you did. I don’t care. I will stay here all night. I am standing my ground. Okay. Come with me, please, for a second. Just for a second. We’ll be right back. Look… look, you are so hell-bent on spending the night here. That means I gotta spend the night here with you. You understand that, right? Go, go! Go home and be with sam and the kids. How can I do that? How can I leave you here in this place and acting like nothing’s wrong, and I know you’re here?

[ Sighs ] Okay. I guess so. I understand. Please, do me the favor. Let me take you home.

[ Sighs ] If I let you take me home, if I let you sign me out here, it means I did something wrong, and I did nothing wrong. I’m not guilty. Would you think about leo for a second? He’s gonna wake up in the morning, you’re not gonna be there. He’s already dealing with eddie in there. Y-you’d have to leave him in tracy’s care.

[ Sighs ] Alright. Alright. I will do it for leo. But I’m not admitting that I did anything wrong. Okay. Chase. I’ll sign it. I’ll sign for carly, too, okay? I-I’ll handle it. Take your mom home. [ Sighs ] Well, as soon as chase finishes the paperwork, then you can go with me. Uh, you can take ned.

I’m not going with you. I woke up, and he wasn’t next to me. I mean, ava, is it too much to ask to go to bed beside the man that I love, the man that I am engaged to, and then wake up and still have him beside me?

And now, here I am, alone.

He could have texted me. He could have left me a note. Anything is better than an empty bed and a blank stare from one of the guards. The man you’re engaged to, nina, is a mobster.

[ Sighs ] I know that, ava. Well, then, you know he doesn’t work 9 to 5. I mean, he’s gonna disappear in the middle of the night with no note or text, and then he’s gonna return with no explanation of where he was or why. I thought you understood all that. Well, knowing that in theory is a lot different than…waking up alone. Ow!

[ Muffled ] Mm-hmm. Oh. Mm-hmm! Take it easy. You doing that on purpose?

[ Normal voice ] No. If I was doing it on purpose, you would know. Oh! You must have a dozen malpractice suits. No, not so much. So, um… you wanna tell me what happened with this woman? Is she gonna be pressing charges? I doubt they’re looking for me. I was just hitting on a hot brunette with a feisty temper. I mean, looking at those stitches, it seems like she was a little more than just feisty.

[ Sighs ] She’s not the one that hit me. Someone — I think it was her blonde friend — hit me with the bottle. And the next thing I know, cop sirens were blaring. Ow. And you just stumbled out of there, blood everywhere? Anybody see your ugly mug? No. I managed to sneak out the back during all the confusion. I thought to myself, “hey, what better time to visit my cousin?” Right. The one I actually need to talk to. Lucky me. And I figured I could get an update on our girl, betty. How’s she doing taking care of sonny’s daughter? Hey, I know it’s a lot to ask. But violet loves you, and I can’t think of a better person to raise her, if anything happened to me. I know she’d be safe and loved with you and the boys. Finn, nothing’s gonna happen to you. That’s just the thing. No one — no one knows that for certain. Okay. Yeah, I… yeah, you’re right. Nobody knows what the future holds. But I also think you’re just unnerved over losing your patient tonight. Maybe. But if something was to happen to me, can I count on you? Of course. Always.

[ Fire crackling ]

That means a lot. I’ll sleep easier knowing that violet will be taken care of, and that there’ll be a place for her, that she will grow up in a loving home. I — I can’t thank you enough. No, you don’t have to thank me. I want to do it. But you have nothing to worry about. Everything’s gonna be okay. You’re gonna be okay. You know, when you say it, I actually believe it.

[ Chuckling ] Well, good. Because you’re gonna get to watch violet grow up and graduate from high school and graduate from college, and maybe become a brilliant doctor, just like her dad. Or maybe a brilliant nurse, like her — her aunt. Oh. I like the sound of that. But wait a minute. I just — I want to make sure you — you know what you might be getting into, alright? I mean, violet is unique. Oh, I know.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah? I know. Okay. I mean, do you know that — I mean, she’s very particular about how she likes everything organized. I mean, it’s — it’s — it’s borderline ocd, and you’re not the most organized person. Wait, what? Huh? I — just saying, you know, there’s, um, all that stuff in your house, the clutter, and you don’t really throw anything away. And there’s, like, still cam’s soccer balls lying everywhere. It reminds me of my boy. Okay. I just… I’m just saying, I want to make sure you’re up for it. How hard could it be? You’re doing it.

[ Laughs ] Yeah.

[ Door closes ] Mommy? Hmm? Yeah? What is it, sweetheart? I can’t sleep. Well…you had a glass of water. You talked to your dad. I’ve tucked you in twice. How can I help you?

[ Sighs ] I want to sleep with you. What about your little stuffed bunny? Won’t he miss you? He’s tucked in already.

[ Chuckles ] I told him I was sleeping with you. Okay. Alright. Hop in. Okay. There you go. Now, just think about all the fun you’re gonna have at camp tomorrow, huh? There’ll be lots of games and snacks, and you’re gonna make lots of new friends. I already have a new friend, betty, and I get to see her tomorrow. She’s so nice. So… what’s the update with betty? Is she settled in with sonny’s little girl? Who’s betty? Don’t — don’t play dumb, cuz.

[ Chuckling ] I’m not playing dumb. Betty’s your mole, not mine. She’s yours to keep tabs on. She’s ours to keep tabs on, okay? Yours, mine, and ava’S. Alright, you guys gotta take more ownership in this. You have as much riding on it as I do — it working. And your friend ava, I hope she realizes what happens if this doesn’t work out. Ava does not need to be reminded of what’s at risk here. Are you sure? Yeah. ‘Cause she seems a bit like a loose cannon. And I only know what betty tells me, but from what I hear, ava is not too happy, okay? You put ava precisely between a rock and a hard place, and, no, she’s not happy. You’re right about that. I think you need to rein her in. Oh. Thankfully, ava’s not a woman who will ever be reined in. Austin, if she slips up and tells sonny something… she’s not gonna slip up. You have ava’s daughter, her life right in the palm of your hand. Okay. Lo ok, the last thing we needis her exposing betty, or, worse, exposing us. Far as I know, avery is thrilled with betty. And lucky for us, sonny seems happy with her services, too.

[ Groans softly ] It’s good — it’s good to hear. You know, betty’s a — she’s a good little operative. You know, the more sonny trusts her, the greater our odds we’ll actually get something on his deal with pikeman. I don’t know what the deal is between you two, but I am ready to head back to the bars. So, sonny, if you could sign me out? Can you please take ned and go? Eddie. Can you take eddie and go? Sonny: Okay. Come on, carly. Let’s go. Carly. I promise you, it’s just a formality. All sonny has to do is sign your paperwork and walk you out. And then, off the record, you can just call a ride share. I am fine! I called my daughter. Josslyn’s gonna come down here, and she can sign me out. Carly, let’s talk. You’re not gonna change my mind. Can I leave? Not without sonny. This just gets better and better. Alright, carly. Come on. Let’s — let’s — let’s talk this out. Why are you doing this? Why don’t you just text josslyn and tell her she doesn’t have to come down here? It’s late. Sonny, I don’t need you. I don’t need your help. Why do you have to be so stubborn? I will sign the papers. [ Fire crackling in distance ]

I need you to hold you know, this might be hard for you to believe, but I’m capable of taking care of myself. Look around, carly. You are still being detained. Unless you walk out that door with me, you’re gonna be detained. It’s my life! Whether I’m wrongfully detained or rightfully arrested, I can handle myself and I can deal with the consequences. It’s an easy fix, as long as you don’t make it so damn — I don’t care that it’s an easy fix. He called you. I didn’T. Sign him out and go. Suit yourself. Chase, I need what paperwork or whatever for him. Yeah, I got it right here. Yeah. Oh. Alright. Thanks. Have you heard from josslyn? Oh. [ Sighs ] No. Um, you know, I’m texting her, but I think her phone’s on silent. Is there anyone else you want to try calling?

[ Sighs ] My mom’s out of town, and I don’t want to wake up willow and michael, so, you know, you can just stick me in a holding cell if you have to. I get it. Why don’t you just sit out here, wait to see if your daughter calls. You don’t have to give me special treatment. I’ll get you a coffee.

[ Sighs deeply ] Hi! Hello? Can you hear me? Yes, my house is on fire. Uh, wha– uh, 232 harbor view road. What? No, I’m — I’m standing out front. There is nobody else inside. No, you need to hurry, because this is spreading rapidly.

[ Chuckles ] Your call came exactly at the right time. I had just gotten ice cream and wine out for myself because dante is still at work, scout’s with the q’s, and the boys are at some sleep– oh, you can have that — sleepover camp. So you’re in luck. I’m so excited to catch up with you. It’s been a really long week. I know, it has. Wait. Where are your kids? Well, bailey is with grandma and grandpa, and — georgie: No! Get away from me! James! Mom!

[ Door opens ] There we go. Oh, marshall. Hi. You’re just in time to join us. “Us”? Yes. Trina. She decided to move back in. That’s, uh — that’s, uh, great news, yeah. I know, I know, I know. She’s upstairs. She’s unpacking right now.

[ Sighs ] Let me go get her.

[ Chuckles ] Trina! Trina, honey, come say hi to your grandfather. Probably loud music.I’m gonna go get her, okay? Deanna, we’re monitoring my patient in 941 very carefully. Any changes, I want to be notified immediately. Yes, dr. Finn. Thank you.

[ Scoffs ] Reminds me of jake’S. Isn’t this the place that joss was with trina where you read them the riot act? Yes, and I don’t ever want her to know that I was here. Capiche? Capiche. Oh, god! The most interesting thing is that there’s this kind of revolving-door situation where pikeman recruits former wsb agents as operatives. Yeah, that’s kind of par for the course with those kinds of things. But you sure about this? Uh-huh. I mean, at first, I was…skeptical. That is, until I spoke to someone who was with the wsb who was recruited by pikeman and worked for them. Who was that? Valentin.

Is valentin still working for pikeman? No, no. This was years ago, when he was — when he first left the wsb. What was he doing for them? Logistics. Logistics, huh? That sounds like a euphemism for something. He was a contractor. Mm-hmm. Alright? And he worked for them on a project-by-project basis. And it’s just been a domino effect ever since then. The new director got rid of anyone who was ever associated with robert or me. So, did you meet the new director when you were in london being debriefed? No. No, I didn’T. And, at first, I didn’t really think anything of it. And then, as it turns out, the agent who was debriefing me, he was droning on and on about procedure, and something caught my eye. Right behind him was his briefcase. And sticking out of the top of the briefcase was a portfolio. On the corner of the portfolio… was the pikeman logo. Marshall: There is no way that you are responsible for a stray bullet. You don’t understand. It’s all the years of lying. Everything I did, the way I handled everything, it just — it led to that moment. If I would have just been honest…

[ Sniffles ] …Curtis, trina, and I, we could have been together. We could have been a family.

No. I mean, think about it. If the bureau has access to a private entity like pikeman, what’s to stop them using it to further their own political agenda?

[ Stammers ] But don’t the wsb want deniability? Why would they give pikeman a gun that they knew that we could trace? Like, that’s risky. Yes, of course. Getting into — getting involved with — with — with a private security contracting company like — like pikeman? Even for someone as covert as the wsb. But they’ve always worked with risk since the beginning of their existence, because it pays off. I can see that this theory has gained a lot of traction with you. But there’s a lot of holes. There are, which is why you called me. Right. I will go to the pcpd and check in with some contacts and see if I can get any more info on pikeman and try and connect them to you and sonny. Marshall: Maybe you need to stop thinking about what you can’t do and — and focus on what you can do.

Alexis: I won’t say that — that breaking this or that or sweeping my arm across the whole desk wouldn’t feel cathartic, because it would. And I-I want to. Alexis: You’ve done this before?

Gregory: No, but my sons have. And any time Finn and Chase agree on something, I have to give it a try. They say it’s very satisfying. Besides, it’s something on my bucket list.

Dante: Uh, no, no, I’m — I’m still at work.

Sonny: You’re missing out. Ferrari’s killing him.

Dante: W-wait. Don’t tell me anything. I’m recording it.

Sonny: Okay, I won’t — I won’t spoil it for you. Why are you at work?

Dante: I’m just trying to get through some cases.

Sonny: All right. Um… I’ll talk to you soon, then.

Jordan: So, any updates on The Metro Court pool shooting? The one that paralyzed Curtis?

Dante: Nothing much so far. We just have more questions than answers.

Curtis: You brought a deck of cards. No doubt to play Go Fish . Pop, you know that’s a kids’ game.

Marshall: Well, the way I remember it, this was your favorite game to play as a boy. That and checkers, although you weren’t very clear on the rules. You had this tendency to always declare yourself a winner, even when you weren’t.

Curtis: Oh, I don’t know about claiming I was a winner, but I’ll tell you this. I sure loved jumping those pieces across the board.

Marshall: You sure did. According to Trina, there’s an app on your phone that you can play checkers. Of course, you can’t pick up the pieces, I guess what’s the point, right?

Curtis: Exactly.

[ Laughs ]

Curtis: [ Chuckles ] You know, Pop… I remember when I was a kid sitting across from you, looking up at you laughing exactly like that. [ Sighs ] I loved — I loved hearing you laugh. But what I loved even more was spending time with you.

Marshall: I’m sorry, son. I deprived us both of so many years being apart.

Curtis: You know what, Pop? None of that even matters now. You were there when I was a kid, and you’re here — you’re here now. And I couldn’t be any more thankful.

[ Laughs ]

Spencer: [ Chuckles ] Hi, dr. Robinson. Um…yeah, well, when Trina asked for my help moving back home, of course I said yes because I knew how much it was going to mean to you to have her living with you again.

Portia: Trina, honey, I am so sorry, but I have been using your room as extra storage while you were gone.

[ Laughter ]

Portia: So I’ll make sure to remove all those extra books and towels a little bit later, okay?

Trina: Oh, that’s okay. It’s no big deal. I’ll help you move them right now, okay? I’ll be right back.

Spencer: Okay, well, I’m gonna take this stuff up to Trina’s room.

Portia: That won’t be necessary, Spencer. I’ll take it from here.

Carly: You’re planning Sonny and Nina’s wedding. Wow. I mean, to be honest, I can’t believe they had the audacity to ask you to do that.

Olivia: They didn’t ask. I offered. And it’s not what you’re thinking. I’m not so much doing it for Nina and Sonny. I’m doing it for me. Carly, I need a distraction. I got to get my head off all things Quartermaine.

Carly: I understand that.

Olivia: I can’t stop obsessing over Ned. You know, I look at him and I see my husband, and then he opens his mouth… and he’s Eddie Maine. And [Sighs] Being in that house — my home — it’s unbearable.

Carly: I’m so sorry, Olivia.

Olivia: Luckily, luckily, Michael is taking care of all things Quartermaine, all things aurora. And Leo, I mean, somehow, that kid is able to comprehend that Eddie is not his dad better than I can, but…he still misses his dad. And how can he not? And now Tracy… [ Chuckles ] Tracy is trying to get Ned committed.

Carly: What? That’s so extreme.

Olivia: You think? And then just when I think I’m getting somewhere, I turn my back and he completely disappears.

Carly: How can I help?

Olivia: How can you even offer that after the way I treated you?

Nina: Hey. What you reading about?

Sonny: Just reading the post-fight commentary on the fight I just watched.

Nina: Oh.

Sonny: Yeah.

Nina: You got a little smile on your face. I’m guessing that your guy must have won.

Sonny: Yeah, yeah, he did. It makes me very happy ’cause it went down to the wire. It was a great fight ’cause I hate it when, like, you know, a fight is about uneven — the one guy’s just pounding on the other guy. Yeah. It’s, you know — it’s like I want it to be more competitive… right. …More like — like a dance. You’re not interested in boxing.

Nina: [ Laughs ] As a sport in a whole? No, not really. But anything that makes you so excited and makes you smile means a lot to me.

Dante: The, uh, working theory on the pool shooting is that the target was either Anna or Sonny.

Jordan: That’s two different ends of the spectrum. One spent most of her life fighting crime, while the other spent his life as a criminal.

Dante: Yeah. Here’s the thing, though — the gun that was used was traced back to a storage locker at a WSB facility in berlin. But there’s no prints. Can’t trace the bullets or the shooter.

Jordan: Hmm. What is the WSB saying about the gun?

Dante: Well, they said it was a break in a security breach and they didn’t know how it happened. But there’s no leads, no suspects.

Jordan: Don’t you find it odd that they’re not showing more interest, especially given that Anna was a former agent for them?

Dante: Yeah, except that it sounds like the WSB is washing their hands of Anna Devane.

Well, we played a couple of gigs around town, plus, there’s a club in Brooklyn that’s showing some interest.

Curtis: Well, it sounds exciting.

Marshall: Yes and no. I don’t think it’s a good time to leave town. Plus, the owner of the club is lowballing us, of course.

Curtis: Well, if they’re lowballing you, why are you still considering it?

Marshall: Well, they can expose us to a brand-new audience. And you know I can talk about the music business for hours. Why don’t we talk about what we’re both thinking? [ Exhales deeply ] I’m wondering what’s gonna happen to you, son.

Curtis: [ Sighs ] I’ll be honest with you, Pop… I’m wondering the same thing.

Nina: [ Laughs ]

Sonny: Where were you? What were you doing?

Nina: Oh, um… well, I wanted to stop by Olivia’s office and talk to her about wedding plans, but when I went there, she was in her office with…

Sonny: Carly.

Carly: Olivia, you’re in the middle of a crisis, and you snapped at me. [ Sighs ] I get it. In some of the worst times of my life, you have been there for me, and I have come to depend on your friendship, so we’re good.

Olivia: Oh, that just makes me feel worse. Carly, I-I was so overwhelmed with worry that — that Ned was never gonna wake up, that I was gonna be stuck forever with some confused middle-aged rocker, but… but none of that is any excuse.

Carly: Hey, I appreciate your apology, I do. But who else were you gonna dump on? Tracy? [ Chuckles ] You were terrified. And I’m tough, I can take it.

Olivia: Yeah, but you shouldn’t have to.

Carly: Hey. You’re my best friend, and we’re always gonna have each other’s back. And I so appreciate that and I need that. And besides, I come with limitations. You know, I can’t make you a lasagna… [ Laughs ] …Or even make a simple casserole, but what I can do is promise you that I will always be there for you no matter what.

Portia: This is always gonna be Trina’s home… no matter what. No matter how old she gets, when she’s done with college, I’m always gonna be here for her. So I am more than capable of helping her move back into her room. So…

Spencer: Yeah, yeah, of course. Dr. Robinson, I completely understand that. I’m just — Trina asked me for my help moving back in, so I think that she’s expecting me to stick around.

Portia: I understand that, you know, I really do, but since my husband is in the hospital and he’s currently paralyzed, I kind of would like some one-on-one time with my daughter. I just don’t think you understand how much I really worry about her. About Trina’s safety and her security.

Spencer: Yeah. Well, my Uncle Victor is dead, so that threat is gone.

Portia: I wish the Cassadines were the only thing I needed to worry about, though. Curtis was shot by a ricocheted bullet at The Metro Court pool, of all places. A place where we should all feel safe, right? And the police say that they think there’s a possibility that the bullet that wounded my husband was meant for your other uncle, Sonny Corinthos.

Jordan: Right before the shot rang out, I remember seeing Anna having a conversation with your dad. Do you have any idea what they were talking about?

Dante: Well, look, I mean, they’ve known each other forever. I mean, they could have been talking about anything. Maybe she was filling Sonny in on what robin’s up to, or — or maybe they were talking about this stuff she’s been going through with the WSB.

Jordan: How is Anna handling that?

Dante: Honestly, I don’t think she’s doing very well. I mean, who would be in that situation, after being put through what the WSB has put her through? I mean, she’s been in law enforcement her entire life, and now she’s on the outside looking in. And on top of that, she was the potential target of a shooting, and she can’t investigate and she doesn’t have WSB resources anymore. I think she’s having a tough time, even though she insists she’s handling it well.

Jordan: Well, Anna always insists she can handle anything.

Dante: We got to find that shooter.

Jordan: Well, if you need me, officially or unofficially, I want to help. I owe it to Anna. And Curtis.

Gregory: [ Groans ]

Alexis: Are you okay?

Carly: Mm-hmm. That’s right. You were in town for Sonny and Kate’s wedding.

Carly: You grew up with Sonny in Bensonhurst, and he ran into you and he asked you to be the maid of honor to his fiancée, Kate Howard.

Olivia: [ Laughs ] Only Kate Howard was not her real name, and I spilled all of her secrets that her real name was Connie Falconeri, and she was from Bensonhurst, not some snotty blue blood from Connecticut. She was from Bensonhurst just like me, and she used to talk just like me.

[ Both laugh ]

Carly: Wow. God, that was 15 years ago. Can you believe it?

No.

[ Chuckles ] I don’t like women, okay? As a rule. And — and you and I have become, dare I say, friends, and we have a good time hanging out together and talking, and it really bothers me and freaks me out that Jax is trying to take that away.

Jax does not own me.

Okay. If no one else in your life is gonna tell you this, I will. You are about to throw away the best thing that’ll ever happen to you.

Carly: Oh, my god. You spent the night with Julian Jerome.

Anyways, you’re not immune to him because you went out with him, too.

Carly: No, no. Hell, I almost married Franco. I have no room to judge, but Julian Jerome is a slime. What were you thinking?

Carly: It’s a big risk, but it’s the only way I can buy my half of the hotel back.

It isn’t the only way. You can swallow your stubborn pride and let your friends help you.

Carly: Unless pride is the only thing I have left.

If you think that I don’t appreciate everything we’ve been through here… I mean, you back me as your partner, and… and you love me as your friend.

Olivia: Oh, come on. You don’t give us enough credit. Sure, we’ll always have a connection because of Sonny, but becoming your friend was one of the best decisions I ever made. I really do value your friendship. And be honest… does it really not bother you that I’m helping Nina and Sonny plan their wedding?

Curtis: When I check out of the hospital, I’m supposed to go to a rehab facility. And I got to say, Pop… I’m dreading that.

Marshall: Why? Aren’t they supposed to help teach you how to get around and go about your life?

Curtis: That’s just it. I feel like by going to that rehab facility, it’s like me announcing to the world that I have given up hope about ever walking again, and that I have accepted that this is what my life is about. Life in a wheelchair.

Marshall: Son. Son, just because you learn to live with being in a wheelchair doesn’t mean you have to stop hoping that you can walk someday again. I know you. [ Sighs ] I know you’re — you’re a proud man, Curtis. And you’ve had a very active life. Son, I feel your — your frustration, but I’m here. I’m here to remind you… you don’t have to go through this struggle alone.

Curtis: I know Portia — she’s so determined to be with me. To support me. Pop, just seeing her reminds me of the life we’ll never have together. It just makes it worse.

[ Knock on door ]

Jordan: Hello. Am I interrupting, or is this a good time for a visit?

Spencer: I’m so, so, so incredibly sorry for what happened to Mr. Ashford. But as I understand it, the police aren’t yet sure who the intended target was. The last thing that I want to do is to make your life more difficult. But one thing that I can promise you is that I am… Dr. Robinson, I’m nothing like my late Uncle Victor or my Uncle Sonny.

Portia: You’re not exactly a saint, though, are you, Spencer?

Spencer: No, that’s true. That’s true. My track record is far from spotless. And I hope that I earned some redemption for what happened in Greenland. But beyond that, I want you to know that I want Trina to be safe and to be happy. So to make your night easier, I’m gonna go say goodbye to Trina, and then I’m gonna take off.

Portia: There’s no need for you to say goodbye in person. I can let Trina know that you had to take off.

Spencer: Okay, then. Good night, Dr. Robinson.

Portia: Good night.

Trina: Mom. Where’s Spencer?

Portia: He took off.

Alexis: Embarrassed? You’re an ex-athlete. Tell me about your bucket list.

Gregory: [ Exhales deeply ]

Alexis: You know you can only have one, right?

Alexis: Says logic. Says common sense. You have one bucket list, which means that you can keep adding on as often as you want, so you don’t need a second. Your hand hurts, huh? Is it getting worse?

Gregory: Every single day.

Jordan: I got it.

Curtis: I know everyone’s on edge when they come to see me… because no one knows what to say. So if playing a card game, a kids’ card game, puts my dad at ease…

Jordan: Then that’s what you’re gonna do. I see that. Because you want your dad to feel better.

Curtis: Since there’s not much I can accomplish these days, it’s nice to do the one thing I can do.

Jordan: And that’s exactly why I’m here… because I need something from you.

Trina: I wish Spencer stayed. We could have moved everything to my room a lot faster.

Portia: Well, you know Spencer. He’s probably thinking about his baby brother.

Trina: Right. I know how important Ace is to him.

Portia: But besides that, it’s you and me again.

Trina: [ Chuckles ] We managed pretty well, didn’t we?

Portia: Yeah. Kind of like old times, right?

Trina: Yeah. Well, that is the reason why I decided to come home.

Portia: What do you mean?

Trina: I didn’t want you tackling the biggest job by yourself. This house isn’t handicap accessible. So what’s the plan? Are you going to install ramps for a wheelchair, hand grips in the bathroom? Maybe we should move to some place that’s all one level. I-I know how much you love the beach house, but is it really the best place for Curtis?

Sonny: I know, you know, Port Charles is a big city in some ways, but in other ways, it’s a community, and Carly and I share kids, and you’re gonna be running into her a lot, and I don’t want you to feel like you have to avoid her, especially in your own hotel.

Nina: No, I don’t, I don’t. I know — I know that Olivia and Carly, they’re really good friends. And I didn’t need to interfere. And, you know, I didn’t want to make things more tense than they already are. Things are going really great between Olivia and I, and I don’t want to ruin it, especially now, you know? And specifically considering what I went to Olivia’s office to talk to her about.

Sonny: What’d you go to her office to talk to her about?

Nina: [ Chuckles ] Our future. Specifically… setting our wedding date.

Gregory: I have a disease that’s making my world smaller and smaller and taking more and more of my abilities away and making me more and more dependent on other people.

Alexis: You must be scared.

Gregory: Scared? No. No. I’m angry. No, I’m… royally pissed off. But what — what — what good is being angry gonna do me? It’s just using up more of what I don’t have — time. Time with my sons, who I love, and my granddaughter, who brings me endless joy. How could she not? You know, my — my family life is still — it’s still pretty good. I have great friends like you, you know, started a second-chapter career. But lately, I-I… I can’t stop thinking about — no, obsessing… about the inevitable. You know, when I — when I first started getting symptoms, I… I was able to ignore them for a while… until I couldn’t. And then I was diagnosed. And in… that one doctor’s appointment, one little moment, everything changed. Everything. Everything was… taken away from me. And I’m not ready to give it up.

Portia: Curtis is gonna be in a rehab facility for the next month or so, so I have some time to get this place handicap-accessible. And just to be perfectly transparent, he hasn’t even agreed to come back here after.

Trina: I’m so sorry. That must be killing you.

Portia: [ Sniffles ] Well, intellectually, I know what’s going on. I know that patients kind of deal with this kind of thing when they’re facing paralysis. But I believe that this is the time that you show up for the people that you love, so I’m gonna wait for him. I’m gonna wait for him to get through this and — and let me in. [ Chuckles ] And I hope that he’s gonna let you in, too.

Trina: I hope I’m ready if he does, because I’ve been feeling so sad and disconnected.

Portia: And I’m sure that Curtis is feeling the exact same way. Honey, you know, ordinarily, Curtis would love to spend time with you. I think he’s just facing the feelings of being paralyzed.

Trina: I wanted to see him. And — and I wanted to see you, too. That’s the reason why I came home. Because I missed you, mom.

Portia: Oh, honey, I missed you so much, too.

Jordan: Well, you might be able to help more than you think. I don’t know if you remember, but I was at The Metro Court pool with Zeke and Portia the night you got shot.

Curtis: Yeah, I remember.

Jordan: Well, the police believe that either Sonny Corinthos or Anna Devane was the intended target of the shooter.

Curtis: Jordan, I already know this.

Jordan: Has anything come back to you about the shooting? Any details or observations that could help us track down the shooter? How are you investigating the shooting?

Curtis: Aren’t you the new deputy mayor?

Jordan: I am, and I’m doing my best, but what can I say? Once a cop, always a cop. Besides, I have a personal stake in your case. And obviously, you do, too, so if anything comes back to you — any memory, any sound, anything at all — please let me know.

Curtis: I can do that.

Gregory: I know I-I-I keep saying I-I don’t want to tell my sons about my ALS because they’d look at me differently and I-I want our time together to be special. But lately, since these symptoms have started getting worse, I-I-I find myself canceling on them, avoiding them. And while my bucket list is getting longer, I’m opting out of things. Not just bucket list, but — but — but day-to-day stuff like hiking with Chase and breakfast with Finn and violet because I’m so scared that I’m gonna have some symptom I can’t hide or explain away.

Alexis: How about if you just start with Finn? I mean, he’s a doctor. [ Sighs ] He can help you.

Gregory: He’s been through so much already. I-I don’t want to be a burden to him.

Alexis: [ Sighs ] All right, you just said that you want to enjoy your life for as long as you can. So do it.

Nina: When you were talking to Brick, I was talking to Olivia about wedding plans…

Sonny: Right.

Nina: …And we quickly realized that we can’t make wedding plans without first setting a wedding date.

Sonny: I already told you that I love you, and I want you to have the, you know — the perfect wedding of your dreams, but I just want to be perfectly clear — I will go to a courthouse and marry you. [ Chuckles ] I will go to Vegas and marry you. I just want you to know that I’m committed and serious about marrying you.

Nina: Mm. But… we got to pick a date tomorrow.

Anna: The one you had me deliver to Sonny.

Martin: So, how is big brother feeling today? I know they’re shipping you back to Pentonville. I can’t imagine you’re very happy about that.

Cyrus: Just tell me you did as I asked.

Martin: Yeah. I did exactly as you asked. Transferred all funds from your account to the Rodden Institute to End Recidivism.

Cyrus: Excellent. With the help of god and that money, many lives will be saved.

Martin: And what about your life? I mean, I’m far from being able to second-guess your generosity, but it appears you’re penniless. You sure you made the right decision?

Cyrus: “For the love of money is the root of all evil.”

Martin: All right. Okay, fine, Cy. Play it your way. I don’t have to understand your benevolence, all right? I just can’t shake the feeling that somehow, some way, there’s something in it for you. I did my part. Let’s leave it at that.

I… I had feelings for a coworker, and I… I thought she didn’t feel the same way about me, which is understandable, so I… I was thinking about leaving G.H. to avoid running into her every day. Literally. I’m quite clumsy.

Elizabeth: And I’m guessing you had second thoughts about this?

Finn: I have, yes, and, um… I won’t be seeking a position at another hospital.

[ Elevator bell dings ]

Elizabeth: Well, I think I can speak for her… she’s very happy with your decision to stay.

Finn: Really? Well, I just — I realized that… G.H. has something that I wouldn’t find anywhere else in the world. Hey. Dad, what — what brings you by?

Anna: I don’t understand. Like, y-you’re not the only person that can make an introduction to Sonny. There has to be a specific reason why they chose you.

Valentin: It’s not that easy to get a meeting with Sonny Corinthos. They asked me to be an intermediary, and I agreed.

Scout:  I had so much fun, Mommy! Thank you for taking me to my swim lesson.

Sam: You’re welcome. You did so good, sweetie.

Scout: Did you see me do the butterfly?

Sam: I did.

Scout: Daddy said it’s getting better.

Sam: Well, I think he’s right. You’re doing great. It’s good.

Scout: Mommy, I miss Daddy.

Sam: I know, sweetie. I miss him, too.

Scout: We can miss him together.

Sam: Yeah. Come here.

Gladys: Oh, that just breaks my heart.

Sam: Yeah, I bet it does.

Salon worker: May I help you, sir?

Cody: No. Uh, thank you, though. Hi, Ms. Miller? Yeah, your assistant let me know where to find you.

Diane: Well, that’s the last personal information she’s going to give out about me.

Cody: Are you still Sasha Gilmore’s lawyer?

Diane: Mr. Bell, this is neither the time —

Cody: Listen, I just — I just needed to let you know that I will not be pressing charges, and I won’t cooperate with the PCPD if they go after Sasha.

Mandy: Good morning.

Sasha: Good morning.

[ Door clangs shut ]

Mandy: I hope you slept better last night, Sasha.

Sasha: I’m sorry. I — I can’t remember your name.

Mandy: I’m Mandy. How are you feeling this morning?

Sasha: [ Sighs ] Um, confused. A little scared to be here.

Mandy: It’s not unusual.

Sasha: I-I feel like I am missing something important. Like I’ve — I’ve lost a-a chunk of time.

Mandy: Let me get you some water and maybe some breakfast.

Sasha: I think what would help is if I could talk to my guardian. My mother-in-law.

Mandy: Let me see if I can get in touch with her.

Sasha: Thank you so much.

Nina: Hi, my name is Nina Reeves, and I’m calling about your venue for my wedding. Um… no, we haven’t actually picked out a date, but we were thinking Valentine’s Day.

Sonny: Thanks for meeting me.

Brick: Always. Always good to see you. You know that.

Sonny: Yeah. So, you got something good for me?

Brick: I always have something. We’ll see how good it is.

Nina: Thank you. Uh, I-I will be in touch.  [ Chuckling ] Okay, bye. Ohh, okay, planning this wedding, I think, is going to drive me crazy.

Olivia: Really, Nina?

Nina: Oh. I’m so sorry, Olivia. I know that you’re dealing with so much more with Ned. I — I’m sure that he’s going to come out of this.

Olivia: Well, he’s not out of it now. My husband is running all over town all night. I have no idea where he is or what he’s doing.

Nina: Yeah, but when things like this happen, sometimes it’s just —

Olivia: Things like this? Things like my husband thinks he’s Eddie Maine?

Nina: But the bottom line is, Ned — he loves you.

Olivia: Yeah. Sonny loved Carly, and now he’s marrying you.

Gladys: I remember you. You were shopping for dresses at Logan’s.

Scout: You had that pretty coat on you didn’t want me to touch.

Gladys: Well, kid… [Chuckles] I mean, it was couture.

Sam: Oh, my god.  Come on. Let– let’s take a picture by the pool so we can show your dad when we visit.

Gladys: Oh, it must be so hard. How are you doing with your Daddy in the slammer?

[ Cellphone rings ]

Sam: You know what, Scout? Why don’t you go over to the chair and grab a snack out of the bag? I’ll be there in a minute, okay?

Spencer: I’ll get it.

[ Knock on door ]

Valentin: Morning, Spencer. May I come in?

Spencer: Why are you alone? Where’s my grandmother and Kevin?

Valentin: They’re still looking for your father.

Anna: Where do you stand with the WSB?

Robert: [ Irish accent ] Ah, top of the mornin’ to you, too, lass.

Anna: Oh. Good morning.  Where do you stand with the WSB?

Robert: [ Normal voice ] Well… since I became DA, I’ve had very little contact with them. Anyone that was there during my era has either been fired, put out to pasture, transferred — y-you name it.

Anna: Don’t you think it’s suspicious?

Robert: [ Chuckles ] I think anything to do with The Bureau is suspicious — in particular, their arresting you for treason.

Anna: Yeah, well, I mean, that’s over now.

Robert: Is it?

Nina: I didn’t realize that you were still so upset.

Olivia: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for it to come out like that, okay? But it must have occurred to you that your situation with Sonny, where he fell in love with you while he thought he was Mike might cross my mind given my current situation with Ned.

Nina: Yeah, and you still resent the fact that I didn’t tell anyone.

Olivia: I know that it’s in the past, but the whole situation with Sonny is shoving it right back up in my face.

Nina: Well, you know, it’s a little different with Ned, right? He’s here in Port Charles with his family.

Olivia: Yeah, but he doesn’t realize that we are his family. I-I thought, honestly, that this whole thing was gonna be over very quickly, that I would just stick around, I would wait, I would talk to him. I would be with him. Honestly, I look in Ned’s eyes, it’s like he’s not even there.

Nina: Well, you just — you know, you just keep trying, you’ll get through to him.

Olivia: I thought I was making a little progress yesterday. He — he — he asked me to make a breakfast, and he actually asked me to tell him a little bit about my past, and so I did.

Nina: Sounds like progress.

Olivia: No, but — but it wasn’t Ned. It was Eddie, and Ned already knows all of the things that I told him. Eddie — pbht. No.

Nina: Okay, you just take one step at a time.

Olivia: He was out again all night last night. I didn’t even bother to check to see if he came home in the morning. For all I know, he’s out there falling in love with some other woman, just like Sonny fell in love with you.

Brick: We’ll start with the little fish.

Sonny: Good.

Brick: I’m sure you recognize her.

Sonny: Ava’s favorite nanny.

Brick: Betty Rutherford, 26, no criminal record. She actually worked as a nanny briefly.

Sonny: I’m not surprised about the “briefly.”

Brick: [ Chuckles ] She also worked as a receptionist at a trucking company. Would you like to venture a guess as to where that was?

Sonny: Pautuck.

Brick: Bingo.

Sam: What the hell is wrong with you?

Gladys: Oh. What? Hey, her dad’s in prison. She needs to learn the world is not always a safe place.

Sam: I will decide what my daughter needs to learn and when, and if you say another word to Scout, I will throw your ass in that pool so fast you will not know what happened.

Gladys: Okay, all right. Maybe I got carried away. I mean, being here is really bringing back the horrible memory of Sasha stabbing Cody.

Sam: [ Scoffs ]

Gladys: The look in her eyes was… she wanted to kill him.

Sam: I don’t believe it for a minute. What really happened that day, Gladys?

Gladys: Well, after she stabbed him?

Sam: No, before. Who drove her to do something like that?

[ Knock on door ]

Sasha: Did you get in touch with Gladys?

Mandy: I called the contact number your mother-in-law left on your admission form, but unfortunately, I got voicemail.

Sasha: Did you leave a message?

Mandy: I did. I said you were asking for her.

Sasha: Thank you, Mandy.

Mandy: Is there anyone else you’d like me to call?

Sasha: Yes, please. Cody Bell.

Cody: Ms. Miller, did you hear anything that I just said?

Diane: Loud and clear.

Cody: Okay, well, Sasha shouldn’t be in Ferncliff, and I will not do anything or say anything to help keep her in there.

Diane: Okay, Mr. Bell. At the risk of sacrificing the one hour I have to myself today, I will engage. But you’ve got to settle.

Cody: Okay, yeah. I’m — listen, I’m sorry for barging in here like that. Please don’t fire your assistant. It’s just Sasha needs help as soon as possible.

Diane: And you don’t think she’s gonna get that help at Ferncliff?

Cody: Yes. N-no. [ Stammers ] Something is wrong about everything that’s going on with her. And the look in her eyes when she… stabbed —

Diane: Allegedly stabbed you.

Cody: Yes. That wasn’t Sasha. At least not the Sasha I know. Something else is going on, and I’m really worried about her safety.

Diane: What do you mean? And you got to give me something specific.

Cody: And I will give you something specific as soon as you get me into Ferncliff to see Sasha.

Spencer: What happened in Chechnya?

Valentin: We found the Cassadine house, and there was a new owner and there was no sign of Nikolas anywhere.

Spencer: And you just left them there?

Valentin: No, no. We left Chechnya for Prague, and that’s where Kevin and Laura decided they wanted to continue the search on their own.

Spencer: Where?

Valentin: Cassadine Island, but there was no trace of Nikolas there, either.

Esme: Maybe you can’t find him because he’s dead.

Anna: We can’t talk to Frisco because he left the bureau.

Robert: And the person who’s replaced him thinks that the way to clear up the bureau image is to fire everyone.

Anna: By disgracing and then distancing themselves from so many former agents.

Robert: ‘Tis the way of bureaucracy, my dear.

Anna: Erase the past. Just convince everyone that it was all bad, and then it makes the new regime seem so much better. At least that was the impression that I got when I was in London after the whole Greenland fiasco.

Robert: The late, not-lamented Victor.

Anna: [ Sighs ] You know, the debriefing — it was… just so weird. Like, the entire process. I-it was orchestrated in a manner that I-I just didn’t recognize. It just all felt so alien to me, and I’ve been debriefed more times than I care to count.

Robert: And this is the only reason you came charging in here?

Anna: No, there’s another reason. What do you know about Pikeman?

Valentin: Good morning, Esme. And good morning to you, Ace. Wow, he is getting big, isn’t he?

Esme: Do you think his father could be dead?

Valentin: I’ve seen no evidence that Nikolas is dead.

Spencer: Well, we don’t seem to have any indication that he’s alive, either.

Valentin: That is true, also.

Spencer: He’s just hiding the same way that he did when he had us convinced that you had killed him. I spent three years grieving that man.

Esme: Look, Spencer, we — we don’t know if —

Spencer: Don’t you see that this is just what he does? He makes a mess of his life, and then he runs away from it, and he has certainly made a mess this time, getting his son’s girlfriend pregnant.

Valentin: You think he’d abandon Ace?

Spencer: Well, he abandoned me, didn’t he? That’s who our father is. He’s a coward. My grandmother’s off searching for him. She’d be better off just coming home, not wasting time. He’s better off gone for me and for my brother.

Dr. Montague: Mandy, in the future, could you please consult me before you make any calls for Ms. Gilmore?

Mandy: Of course, Dr. Montague.

Dr. Montague: Thank you. Hello, Sasha.

Sasha: Hi, Dr. Montague.

Mandy: I thought I could maybe help Ms. Gilmore get more comfortable and remove her restraints.

Dr. Montague: I think that’s a good idea.

Sasha: Oh. Thank you.

Dr. Montague: Is that better, Sasha?

Sasha: Yes.

Dr. Montague: Good. Thank you, Mandy.

Mandy: I’ll be back later, Sasha.

Sasha: I-I hope she’s not in trouble for calling my mother-in-law.

Dr. Montague: No, no, of course not. But I’m curious, why did you ask to speak to Cody Bell?

Sasha: Cody is my friend. He has helped me before.

Dr. Montague: Under the circumstances, you didn’t think that would be awkward?

Sasha: [ Sighs ] Because I’m in this place?

Dr. Montague: Because you tried to kill him.

Diane: I appreciate your desire to help her. But even if I thought this was a good idea, I have no power to authorize a visit to Ferncliff. Only her guardian can do that.

Cody:  Oh. All right. Well, I’ll find another way ’cause Gladys wouldn’t lift a finger for me. And I wouldn’t trust her if she did.

Gladys: How dare you accuse me of doing something to hurt my daughter-in-law.

Sam: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a minute. I didn’t accuse you of anything. Unless, of course, you think there was a reason I should, then…

Gladys: Of course not. But after you grilled me in the fitting room about my relationship with Selina Wu, it was crystal clear that you are out to get me.

Sam: No, what’s clear to me and Sasha’s friends is she was perfectly fine and handled a very difficult situation at Home & Heart without a problem. What doesn’t make sense is what happened after.

Gladys: Maybe it would make sense if you paid more attention to your “friend” Sasha and less to snooping around about me.

Brick: Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt, 48, no criminal record. Graduate of New York State University Buffalo and Great Northern Medical School. Came to Port Charles soon after delivering Maxie Jones’ baby, in the woods, no less. They had a brief relationship. He’s currently dating who?

Sonny: Ava.

Brick: Related to the Quartermaines on his father’s side.

Sonny: Edward’s bastard son, Jimmy Lee Holt, was his father.

Brick: We can move on to this guy.

Sonny: I met him. Then he got whacked.

Nina: The little I know of Eddie, he doesn’t seem like the type that would go out and fall in love with someone.

Olivia: Great, maybe he could cut a swath of one-night stands through Port Charles. Wouldn’t that be great? Don’t think that that hasn’t crossed my mind.

Nina: Listen, Olivia, if Sonny and I are causing you to overthink things, we can just keep a low profile.

Olivia: Mnh-mnh, mnh-mnh, mnh-mnh. No, no, no. This is my problem, not your problem. I have to deal with it, and I will. [ Chuckles ] You know… Leo actually likes Eddie.

[ Both chuckle ]

Olivia: And then he asks me where his father is, and I don’t know what to tell him, and it breaks my heart.

Nina: Maybe you should go home, Olivia. I could take care of things here.

Olivia: No. Brook Lynn is taking Leo to class and she’s taking him to the stables, and Tracy can drive someone else crazy today. I came here so I could get my mind off all things Quartermaine and Eddie Maine, and… and I think that I have found the perfect thing to focus on to get my mind off of it.

Nina: [ Chuckles ] The books?

Olivia: I’m gonna plan your wedding.

Sam: Wow. Why are you so paranoid, Gladys? I think if I did some real snooping, I’d find some big trouble.

Gladys: [ Sighs ] All I’ve ever done is try to take care of Sasha. She’s family to me.

Sam: Right.

Gladys: You know what? I saw the look on your face at the hospital when Sasha wanted my guardianship rescinded. You thought it was a good idea.

Sam: Yeah, I certainly did.

Gladys: Can you not see that my love and concern is exactly what Sasha needed? Look what ended up happening.

Sam: According to witness testimony, she had no idea what happened.

Gladys: [ Sighs ] That’s my point. You and all the rest of her so-called friends thought she was fine. I was the only one who saw the truth. I was the one who wanted to take care of her.  Her friends couldn’t see it because some people managed to conceal their feelings and hide what’s really going on.

Sam: Oh, there you go. I think you’re — I think you’re right about one thing. Some people are really good at hiding things. Sasha isn’t one of them.

Gladys: You know what? That’s ’cause you don’t know her the way I do. And you never will.

Sam: Hmm.

Sasha: I already told you, I don’t remember stabbing Cody.

Dr. Montague: But you did stab him, Sasha. In front of a lot of people. You very nearly killed him.

Sasha: [ Sighs ] I guess that’s why I’m in here.

Dr. Montague: Yes. To get the help you need. So, why don’t we start with what you do remember?

Sasha: Everything was going well. I mean, some days were more difficult than others, like when someone tried to upset me on Home & Heart. But I handled it, and I was proud of myself for being able to handle it.

Dr. Montague: But it’s clear now that you weren’t dealing with it.

Sasha: I was. I think it started happening after I took those pills you prescribed me. I-I took them for a few days, and — and I-I started to feel groggy and paranoid and… and I started hallucinating a-and hearing voices.

Dr. Montague: The pills I gave you weren’t causing your hallucinations, Sasha. And they aren’t what caused your violent behaviors.

Sasha: But I was fine before I started taking them.

Dr. Montague: Sasha. We found these in your purse. It’s what caused you to try to kill Cody Bell.

Nina: Are you sure you’re thinking clear– I mean, you… you don’t think this is gonna be too painful for you?

Olivia: I love Sonny. We have an amazing son, a spectacular grandson. I want him to be happy. And you seem to make him happy.

Nina: What about Carly?

Olivia: She’s my best friend. That ain’t gonna change. And deep down, I think she wants Sonny to be happy, too. Even if we aren’t on the best terms right now.

Nina: Oh.

Olivia: She still believes that Ned turned her and Drew in and got Drew sent to prison.

Brick: Gordon Stevens, 52. You met him?

Sonny: Briefly. Took him for an ex-con.

Brick: Good eye. Five years in Pentonville for grand larceny. No wife, no kids, no family. Worked for a trucking company in…

Sonny: Pautuck.

Brick: And finally, we have this guy. Mason Gatlin.

Valentin:  Well, I’m sorry that I-I couldn’t bring better news for all three of you. What do you say, Ace? You remember me? Can I hold him?

Esme:  Yeah.

Valentin:  Spent a lot of time together in Greenland, didn’t we? Good for you, Spencer. Not every brother would step up the way you have.

Spencer: Well, it’s not Ace’s fault that our father’s a coward.

Valentin:  You’re doing a good job. Look at you. After everything we went through in Greenland, you’re still a happy and well-loved young man, aren’t you?

Esme’s taken a lot of the responsibility. She’s determined to make sure that Ace has everything that he wants. She’s a good mother.

Esme: Thank you, Spencer. Although I can’t quite figure out how to give him a bath without winding up drenched myself, so… [ Chuckles ]

Valentin:  You’ll figure it out. Ace, you are a credit to your brother and your mother, aren’t you?

[ Ace coos ]

Robert: Pikeman is an independent defense contractor. Been around forever. But then again, you should know that. So what are you really asking me?

Walsh: I’d like to ask you about the Greenland incident. Before you arrived here in London, I went over several reports about Greenland, and I have a few questions.

Anna: Yes, of course. Whatever you need.

Walsh: What possessed you to go rogue, run interference, and ignore the very specific mandate Agent Hursley gave you?

Anna: Well, with all due respect to Agent Hursley —

Walsh: You provided him no respect whatsoever.

Anna: I have to be honest with you. He didn’t seem to grasp the fact that people’s lives were at stake and that there were extenuating circumstances.

Walsh: There always is, Ms. Devane. Particularly with you. It says here that after your arrival, you sought out Valentin Cassadine. As you’re well aware, the bureau has been keeping track of him for several years, and there appears to be a discrepancy in your reporting on pages 6 and 12.

Robert: Anna. Earth to Anna. Why are you talking about Pikeman?

Anna: Oh, I’m sure it’s nothing. Thank you. You’ve been very helpful.

Robert: I didn’t do anything.

Nina: Carly blames Ned for what happened to drew?

Olivia: Carly came to the hospital when Ned was in the ICU. We didn’t know if he was gonna make it. I was a complete wreck and I bit her head off. But it seemed like she still believed that Ned did it, and I know that he didn’t. You know, before this whole thing went down, Ned swore to me that it wasn’t him, and I believe him, Nina. Somebody else turned in Carly and Drew.

Nina: And you haven’t spoken to her since?

Olivia: No, I haven’t. I don’t know what she believes now, but you know what? We’re gonna get through it. She and I have been through a lot worse.

Nina: Well, Olivia, if you’re sure about this, yeah, Sonny and i would be honored if you want to help us plan our wedding. Yes, um, I-I called a couple of venues, and —

Olivia: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I’m gonna stop you right there.

Brick: Again, no criminal record. Austin’s cousin on his mother’s side, a trucker, worked for the family business.

Sonny: The same business that Betty and Gordon worked for?

Brick: Oh, are you doing my job for me now?

Sonny: Well… you think he’s the biggest fish?

Brick: So far. Company was bought two years ago through a very well-hidden LLC. No record of his “occupation” since.

Sonny: Blackmail.

Valentin: All right, buddy. Your cousin charlotte and i are not gonna be strangers. I promise you that, Ace.

Spencer: Listen, I haven’t had the chance to thank you yet for Greenland.

Valentin: No, you don’t have to thank me.

Spencer: No, if you hadn’t shown up… Uncle Victor was gonna use that pathogen on me and Trina, and I wouldn’t have been able to face losing her.

Valentin: Oh, we all did what we had to do.

Spencer: I’m trying to say thank you, and I’m trying to tell you that I was wrong about you.

Valentin: No, you weren’t. Spencer, my father’s dead. Nikolas is gone. We Cassadines have a rare opportunity to reinvent our family.

Spencer: You think?

Valentin: Yeah. You, Ace, Alexis, her daughters — you’re good people.

Spencer: Well, I’m not sure that i deserve to be included in that, but, uh, I’ll keep my nose clean if you will.

Robert: And Mr. Bell sought you out?

Diane: He did indeed, and I did not engage. Okay, well, I engaged a little bit, but only after he made his intentions perfectly clear.

Robert: And?

Diane: And he is not going to press charges against my client, Sasha Gilmore, and he steadfastly refuses to cooperate in any police investigation into the matter.

Robert: She stabbed him.

Diane: Allegedly.

Robert: In front of witnesses.

Diane: Robert, he’s not going to press charges and he’s not going to cooperate. You have no case. So I request that all charges against Sasha Gilmore be dropped immediately.

Robert: I’ll talk to the ADA.

Diane: Mm-hmm.

Robert: Uh… you didn’t come all this way to tell me that.

Diane: No, I didn’t. I came to invite you to the Port Charles auto show this weekend.

Robert: I love the car shows.

Diane: [ Chuckles ]

Robert: It’s a date.

Diane: No, no, no, no. It’s not a date. It is simply two colleagues going to look at cars because you need a new one desperately.

Robert: I love my car. I’ve had it forever.

Diane: Precisely my point. It’s not good to hold on to things forever, unless, of course, you like being stranded by the side of the road.

Robert: Oh, well, not particularly.

Diane: Mm-hmm. And that’s what happens. You hold on to something forever, and you get stranded by the side of the road again and again and again. Whereas a new model, very dependable, could also be exciting. Of course, you never know until you try.

Anna:  You’re not to speak to anyone new. If your contact person is to change, do not proceed until you’ve spoken to your original contact first. Does that make sense?

Sonny:  Yeah.

Anna:  [ Exhales deeply ]

Sam: Hi, uh, my name is Sam McCall. I was hoping I could visit my friend Sasha Gilmore today.

Janice: Only approved visitors are allowed to see Ms. Gilmore.

Sam: Approved?

Janice: Yes, you would have to have the permission from her guardian, Gladys Corbin.

Nina: If you change your mind about helping Sonny and me with the wedding, I completely understand.

Olivia:  No, no, no, I haven’t changed my mind about anything. What is this crazy talk about other venues? There is only one venue, and you and I own it.

Nina: Olivia, don’t you think that people are going to —

Olivia:  People — people are gonna what?  They’re gonna read all about the preparations on every website known to man. They’re gonna be dying to have the wedding here. They’re gonna bring in all kinds of business. Come on, Nina. You can’t possibly be selfish enough to deny the Metro Court all that free publicity, not to mention the fact that you will have a beautiful, spectacular wedding yourself.

Nina: Well, yeah. As co-owner of the Metro Court, I guess that makes sense.

Olivia:  Yeah, if you had your wedding anywhere else, everyone would wonder why, and there would be cancellations all over the place. It can’t happen. It can’t happen, okay?

Nina: Okay. Okay.

Olivia:  So when’s the date?

Nina: Well, we haven’t picked an exact date, but we were thinking Valentine’s Day.

Olivia:  Oh, ooh, la, la. Romantic. Uh, it’s a great idea. Uh, several months away. I could plan Harry and Meghan’s wedding in less time.

[ Both chuckle ]

Nina: Thank you.

Brick: This bastard’s blackmailing you?

Sonny: Ava.

Brick: Because of the connection to his cousin? Why don’t we just take all three of them out and be done with it?

Sonny: Can’t. ‘Cause he has Nikolas Cassadine’s body.

Brick: So he didn’t run. He’s dead.

Sonny: Ava killed him. But she says it was an accident.

Brick: Wait a minute. So he has her ex-husband’s body?

Sonny: I got to protect her because she’s the mother of my child, so we can’t do anything until we get the body back. Hands off. He lives until we get that body back.

Esme: Is Valentin gone?

Spencer: Yeah.

Dr. Montague: Your blood work says otherwise. You’ve been taking these for months.

Sasha: No, no, no, n– I went through rehab. I beat my addiction.

Dr. Montague: You must know how common relapses are. It’s nothing to be ashamed about.

Janice: I couldn’t ask you to do that. I’m sure you have patients to check on.

Cody: I’m sure you can understand how concerned we are about Sasha.  Really, I just need a few minutes.

Janice: I think I made it pretty clear what you would need, Mr. Falconeri. I’m sorry. I have to follow the rules. The only way you’re getting in here is if you have an id or you’re a patient.

[ Knock on door ]

[ Clears throat ] Nina. I’m so sorry. I should have called ahead of time, but I was — um, I was driving home, and there was harbor view road, and I just thought, “well, maybe willow may need something.” And I know that michael is back in the office — nina, it’s okay. Don’t — don’t worry about it.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Chuckles ] Would you like to come in? Yes. Very much. Can you make sure that dr. Finn gets this?

[ Elevator bell dings ] Deanna: Oh, dr. Finn. I knew sonny didn’t trust me that night. And now my patient is dead in an alleyway? Sonny’s never gonna let me near avery again. You know what he’s going to do — sonny’s not gonna do anything, because I told him that you helped me. You what? Wait. You what? That I helped you… ava, that I helped you do what? Yeah, uh, detective chase mentioned that a member of staff had seen dex outside my office, so… maybe I’m reading too much into it, but dex had said that he just got lost, but he — he was definitely snooping. Um, kristina, how over it would you be if the situation was reversed and alexis thought that sonny was dead for months, and then you discover that it was a vendetta of nina’s that kept sonny from his family? And all the while, you’re watching your mother fall into chaos. You’d be a little shocked that sonny chose nina over his family. Hey, I was there, too, okay? We all mourned dad, and it was a miracle to discover he was still alive. And, yes, nina was wrong, but dad loves her, so who am I to judge? The heart wants what the heart wants, right? Isn’t that what happened with you and willow? Wiley is up with leo, bug hunting, and it’s amelia’s late-afternoon nap, so I have been trying to amuse myself. Oh. Is this — is this what you’ve been doing? It’s, uh… it’s horrible.

[ Laughs ] No. I think I made a wrong turn with the pattern.

[ Laughs ] I figured I’d try to learn something new as a way to keep busy. But, to be honest, all I can think about is getting back to the real world. Yeah. I was starting to think I’d never leave that plastic bubble room.

[ Both chuckle ] Yeah. Well, it must be hard, all the time that you lost waiting. It’s hardest on the kids. I want to be there for michael, too. It’S…

[ Sighs ] I want my life back.

[ Laughs ] Yeah, and you, um — you deserve it.

[ Chuckles ] You know, willow, I know that we, uh — we’ve had a lot of false starts and miscommunication, but I’m hoping that we can truly start over. There’s so much about you that I don’t know. I’d love to learn about your life. What you love, who you are. Will — will you tell me? I’ve managed many exclusive properties, though, I admit, none as unique as this one. Both interpol and the wsb made a thorough search in may. Mr. Cassadine certainly wasn’t here then. They didn’t find anyone. And he couldn’t have come since? Honestly, nina, what I wish for more than anything else is to just have a normal life. Yeah. All those million little mundane things like going shopping or taking wiley to school.

[ Chuckles ] That’s what I want.

[ Chuckles ] Maybe taking a mommy-and-me class with amelia. Oh, my god. That sounds like so much fun. I think you should definitely sign up for a class like that. I wish I would have taken — what else? Uh…really, I just want my independence back. I mean, the quartermaines have been such a support — you know, brook lynn, olivia, even tracy. And thank god, because I still have a long way to go. But it will be a relief when michael and i won’t need so much help. Yeah. Speaking of michael, I’m surprised he’s not here right now. He must be stuck at a work thing. Oh. Well, uh, if he’s not gonna make it for dinner, I could order us something. You know? From the metro court? I’ve got some pull. [ Laughs ]

[ Door opens ] Michael: Nina? I… michael. I, um — I was just driving home, and I stopped in for an impromptu visit.

[ Stammers ] Dinner, right? And I-I don’t want it to get cold, so I’ll just, uh, I’ll — I’ll leave now.

[ Softly ] I hope you sign up for that class. Bye, nina. Bye.

[ Door closes ] Are you ready to tell me about the shooting? Uh, what’s there to tell, really? Haven’t you read all about it? Yeah, sure. Everything that was fit to print. Now you tell me the bits that weren’T. The worst part is that curtis was hit by a ricochet. We’re sure he wasn’t the target? No. I was talking with sonny, and dante caught a glint of a rifle in an upper-story window, and then two shots were aimed directly at us. So the shooter was aiming at one of you. Which one? Well , here’s something thatwasn’t released to the press. The rifle was traced back to the wsb. There’s nothing in this house that I really ever want to see again. Especially not that room where you were shot.

[ Scoffs ] Yeah. Okay, here’s the bad news.

[ Sighs ] The most likely place for us to look, if nikolas didn’t want to be found, it would be the sub-basement. Sub-basement? The labs — where the labs — where mikkos used to do all of his horrible experiments. It’s where stavros kept lulu. Uh-huh. Maybe it would be better if I went down and searched the lower levels on my own. It might be better for you to stay up here. Oh, no. Absolutely not. No, no. We’re in this together. I’m not gonna stay up here and risk you not coming back. So, whatever — whatever we find, we face together. Alright. Let’s go. Wow. You look… wow. [ Chuckles ]

Do you think maybe sonny had gordon whacked?

[ Laughing ] What? Austin, no one has said “whacked” in, like, 40 years. Fine. Rubbed out? No, no. Iced? It doesn’t — look, it doesn’t matter. Do you think sonny did it? No, I don’t think sonny did it. It would be a stupid move, and sonny is not stupid. Gordon was supposedly your patient. No, you see, that’s the thing. Gordon and mason — known associates, and sonny knew something was up. Well, what exactly happened outside the restaurant when sonny found you with gordon? Not much, really. I mean, gordon was there. Sonny comes in. Gordon knows who sonny is. Sonny does this whole, like,

[As sonny] “It’ll be a shame if anything happened to you, kid” routine,

[Normal voice] And then gordon, he backed off. And then, for some reason, sonny made gordon apologize to me, which I thought was really weird. But I think — I think, in the end, he was just trying to get him to, you know — he was scaring him. Yes! No, I’m sure that’s exactly what it was. Did anything else happen? What, that night? No. But that must have been when sonny decided that dex would follow me, because the next day is when nurse webber saw dex “lurking” outside my office. And did he see anything? Was there anything for dex to see? No. Maybe. I don’t know. Well, gordon and mason were in here waiting for me. Really?! Oh, this keeps getting worse. Just as mr. Kostas said — no sign of anyone. And the wsb turned the place inside out. Well, it certainly seems like it, doesn’t it? But this house has secrets it will never give up. Let’s check the main rooms. Nikolas knows this place like the back of his hand. He could be coming and going in a way that the caretaker doesn’t realize. That is possible, isn’t it? Okay, uh… let’s start on the third floor. That was his nursery when he was a baby. So, the weapon was a ghost gun. It had been confiscated and tagged and logged at a wsb facility in berlin. Then liberated and smuggled into port charles? Mm-hmm. It doesn’t necessarily mean the wsb is currently involved, though. Right. I mean, it could have been sold on the dark web. No, I know. That’s what I think, too. But somebody had to have clearance in order to access that weapon at the wsb facility, right? In the first place. Well, plenty of agents go rogue. Sorry. Well… sonny doesn’t think that it’s the entire bureau that’s after me, you know. It’s one solitary person on the inside that deliberately leaked my history as a double agent in order to eliminate me. So, um…nina. Hope she didn’t do anything to upset you. Oh, no, not at all. I mean, even though it was an ambush drop by, I-I was glad for the company.

[ Inhales deeply ] And she saved me from my project. Project? Oh, okay.

[ Clears throat ] That’s, uh… that’s great. What is that? It is the makings of a sock. Ah. Mm, okay. Something soft for amelia to wear. Unfortunately, I am not the best crafts student. I much prefer my nursing books. No, hey, I-I like it. It’s, uh… it soft. It’s — it’s awful. Okay.

[ Sighs ] I was actually glad nina rescued me from it. So, I wanted to talk to you, actually. Uh… I ran into trish, the hostess from metro court the other day, and she said you were talking to her about my center. I am so sorry. I hope I didn’t speak out of turn. I know your privacy means so much to you, and I would never interfere in your life. No, no, no, no. Nina. You misunderstood. Trish was saying that you were talking up my plans to help the lgbtqia+ youth, and I was very touched by that. It means a lot that you believe in me. Of course I believe in you. And I believe in this project. Did you talk to trish about her brother? Yes. My god. It was so sad. And it made me so angry. Too many kids are discarded and on the fringe of society. Port charles desperately needs a resource like the corinthos-davis house for marginalized and homeless youth. Anyway, thank you for the free pr, and the drink is on me. Oh, you don’t have to thank me. I believe 1,000% in what you’re doing. 1,000%. When sonny told me, I was so — so impressed. Please. I want to help any way that I can. [ Both chuckle ] My mother e-mailed me yesterday. The old digital dodge. Yeah, but I’m glad she didn’t call, ’cause I don’t really want to talk to her anyway. Not a surprise after what she and your father did to you. Could you ever imagine doing something like that to violet? Using your medical skills to manipulate her to cover something up? I know I have to get over it. It’s — it’s way in the past. Is it? Well, I guess it hits a raw nerve. But at least it’s all out in the open. The worst is behind me. Yeah, it is. You know the worst part of that whole mess? The person who suffered the most deserved it the least.

whatever arrangements victor made to expose my past, he had to have somebody on the inside of the wsb in order to facilitate that. And once you were compromised, someone with their own agenda could take advantage of the situation to get rid of you.

[ Inhales sharply ] I mean, someone could be planning a power grab. You’re a potent adversary at the wsb. How many warring factions are there at the bureau? Perhaps I know something that could pose a threat. You know?

[ Exhales deeply ] Regardless… the person may have thought that making my indiscretions public would have resulted in an arrest. And when it didn’t, when it failed, they moved to plan b, which is to eliminate me permanently. Don’t forget occam’s razor — the right answer is usually the simplest one. My father, victor, despised you. And his parting gift was to attack you where it hurt you the most. Laura: Nothing. Better to rule out every possibility. Yeah, but, look, if nikolas wanted to hide, this is the perfect place for him to do it. The fact that he’s not here makes me think that he hasn’t gone into hiding at all. You think something’s happened to him? Yeah. Something or someone. Victor’s dead. It can’t be him. Who else would want to harm nikolas? I don’t know what sonny’s guy — dex, the lurker — saw, didn’t see. I… gordon and mason,they — they — they weren’t here that long. Gordon was here just long enough to ask mason for a bunch of money. Did mason give it to him? No. Mason said, “you’re gonna get exactly what you’re owed.”

[ Gasps ] Oh. Yeah, see, that’s not threatening at all, is it? Oh. Well, we don’t know for sure. Let me ask you something. Yeah? Do you think that mason is capable of killing someone? Well, he wouldn’t be the only one, would he? You certainly are. That’s an…accident! You hit nikolas over the headwith a marble statue — yeah, that was to stop him, and you know it. Just forget it. Forget it. Well, you stopped him, didn’t you? What did you tell detective chase? Did he ask you if gordon was your patient? Yes. And what did you say? I said yes. Why? What do you mean, why? You don’t even have a file on the guy. Now you’re going to have to fake it. You’re right about that. What else did you tell the cops? Not much. I just said that, you know, gordon found me — confronted me at the restaurant. Oh, at the restaurant. Uh-huh. Where you were with me and nina and sonny corinthos? Yep, that restaurant. Oh, good grief. Austin, y-you are really, really bad at this. You’re later than usual. I got caught up in the weeds at elq.

[ Sighs ] Yeah. So, um, we’re in the middle of a major negotiation that ned started before he turned into eddie maine. And guess who’s still nowhere to be found? Valentin. So, uh, I had to catch up very quickly. Wow. Don’t you ever get tired having to save the day for everyone? Eh, I kind of like showing off. And if ned ever… regains his personality and valentin decides to show his face, it’ll choke them both knowing that I got it done. And, you know, it sets the groundwork for me to step back in if I want to return. Michael, I never knew you had such a devious side. Oh, yeah. It is both impressive and slightly terrifying.

[ Both laugh ] Well… I, uh, have to employ “the art of war” when it comes to those two. You know, it’s good to keep people on their toes. And you do it so well. It is inspiring seeing you thrive at work. It makes me realize how much I miss it.

[ Chuckles ] I’m a little envious. I wish I could go back to my career. You know, nina, uh, I was thinking about what you said, and I just want to tell you something. I will accept any and all help I can get for the corinthos-davis house, but you don’t have to win me over by talking up my charity or contributing to it. My dad’s happiness is my priority, and he loves you, so I’m on your side. Thank you, kristina. That means more to me than you will ever know. Oh, I think I have an idea. And I want to be perfectly clear with you. My support for your charity has everything to do with the work you’re doing. I’m not trying to score any points or gain any favors. All I want to do is be a good doctor. Me? I-I took an oath to heal, not to deal. Get it? Yeah, okay. You didn’t have to volunteer extra information. The cops would’ve figured it out eventually, right? Gordon confronted me in a — in a very public place. That restaurant is very popular. And I did great. I told detective chase that gordon was at the restaurant to confront me about his medical bill. And he wanted to negotiate his deductible with a known crime boss sitting right there? Okay, ava, this has got nothing to do with you. You really don’t need to worry. You see, I do worry. Because if I am linked to mason, people could start poking around. And who knows what they might uncover. They’re not going to uncover anything because I’m not going to say anything. You’re definitely not going to say anything. And we’re being very careful. And the only other person that knows anything about this is mason, and he’s not — um… yeah, ava, so question from before. S-sonny. Did you tell him that you killed nikolas? My father hated you… and everything you stood for, because it was everything he wasn’T. Hmm. He’d lost all humanity. Plus, you ruined his greatest weapon. Me. Don’t say that. You would never have been his weapon. I think I could’ve been, if it weren’t for you. He shot you the night of the nurses’ ball to hurt me and to destroy you. Well, he was deluded. You would never have joined him. I think you give me too much credit. I could have very easily gone the other way… …if it weren’t for you. I actually spent some time with willow today, and it was great. We even got a little personal and philosophical, and I almost felt like I totally wasn’t on the outside. Wow, that’s — I mean, that’s great. Great. Yeah. Good for you. Yes. And I suggested that we even have dinner together. Then michael, he came home, and while he was perfectly polite… he iced you out? A little frosty. Mm-hmm. It’s kind of his thing. Look, michael might not be my dad’s biological son, but, man, when it comes to holding a grudge, they are exactly the same. So, watch out. Don’t you hate it when people say, “give it time”? Yes. Mm. The worst.

[ Laughs ] I just think that you should, uh… not do too much too soon, you know? Oh, of course. I-I-I know I’m still healing. Yeah, it’s just gonna take some time. But I am feeling a lot stronger. Well, I mean, um, is your immune system up to everything that you’d be facing at the hospital? Uh, I mean, obviously not now. And, believe me, I’m definitely gonna wait for the all clear from the doctors first.

[ Chuckles ] Good, good. But I need to be useful. One thing this experience has shown me is that I want to help people in crisis. I never really got the chance to immerse myself in nursing. Yeah, I just — I don’t know, willow.

[ Sighs ] Okay, michael, what’s really going on? There’s mo re to your concernsabout me going back to work than just my health. Yeah, yeah, you’re right. Willow, I do have mixed feelings about it. And I told him that I didn’t know anything about gordon’s death, which was not a lie, because I did know who gordon was, but I really don’t know anything about his death. Oh, my god. You killed him, didn’t you? Auntie…I’m sorry. What do you — what do you have to be sorry about? Because, clearly, I upset you with my outburst. Curtis, please. You haven’t done anything wrong. That bullet wasn’t meant for you. You were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. None of this is your fault. But, unfortunately, it is your reality now. And that’s why I am here. Look… maybe ferncliff is the best place for her. No. I refuse to believe that. If I have it right, a gestational surrogate is a person not related to the fetus because they didn’t provide the egg. Yes, that’s correct. In your case, it would be a donor egg fertilized with tj’s sperm impregnated through ivf. Whereas the traditional surrogate is a surrogate that provides the egg and is genetically related to the fetus. Right again. I have several traditional surrogates who are willing to supply the egg and be fertilized through iui. So, that’s the first question. Do you have plans to secure a donor egg?

How does the same woman who kept it together under incredible pressure just suddenly become a delusional train wreck in under a month? You were a wild child? Which means what, exactly? By the time we were in high school, me and my best friend, lois, who you also might remember, we — we gave our poor mothers every gray hair they had on their head, I swear. We were — we were smoking. We were running around with older boys. We were sneaking into nightclubs with our ginormous bangs and our little skirts about the size of a belt. Good lord. Sounds like you were a good time. Look, I know that you are trying to find any possible way to explain sasha’s behavior, but she has a history of mental illness. And if we deny that, we’re not helping her. I know for me, when I was overseas in the military, and one of my buddies would get seriously injured, the hardest part was watching them isolate themselves from the rest of us. But after a while, you start to get it. I mean, our job in the military is literally to protect people. So if you get injured and you lose your ability to be a protector, it’s gotta mess with your head. And for curtis, I mean, he’s no longer just this guy who’s married to your mom. He’s your actual biological father. It’s gotta kill him that he can’t be your protector. Yeah, but I’m not a little girl. Curtis doesn’t have to protect me. That doesn’t matter to me. Maybe not. But I gotta guess that it matters to curtis. Look, gladys used to work as my assistant, so I can agree she’s not the best worker, but I still think she has sasha’s back. They knew once the file was released that anna would be disgraced and arrested. Well, they got one part right. I was certainly disgraced. Yeah, but you weren’t arrested. You got out in front of it. You resigned from the wsb. I was forced to. Be that as it may, you’re walking around free. I-I don’t know if looking over your shoulder every five minutes is free. Right, but that explains the shot at you. Whoever it is considers you a threat. They either took the shot themselves or hired someone else to do it. Did what themselves? Take a shot at anna?

I-I was quick to judge you, and I turned my back on you when instead, I should have been reaching out to you and trying to help you, so that leaves a lot of room for me to do better. B-b-but you couldn’t have redeemed me. T-that doesn’t fall on your shoulders. I know that now, because in the end, we all have to save ourselves. But do you want to? It wasn’t fair of me to put you in a position to have to keep my secret. It wasn’t fair of me to put you in a position to have to tell me your secret when you weren’t ready. Hey, listen, you know, it’s your diagnosis. You tell someone whenever you’re damn well ready. I appreciate that. And I intend to tell chase and finn soon. Promise? I promise. I think it would be better for all of us if we registered with a service, work out the legal and monetary arrangements, and start interviewing candidates who actually know what to expect. Bureau’s got a lot of dirty tricks up their sleeve, and it’s impossible to safeguard against all of them, even if someone was glued to my side 24/7, which we’ve now agreed that you won’t be. Alright.
