Days of Our Lives Update

Belle sits at the Brady Pub while on the phone with Paul. Belle is glad he’s back from assignment because she could really use his help. Belle mentions e-mailing over everything that her and Chad have found so far. Marlena then enters the Pub to join her. Belle thanks Paul and says she will text him as soon as they arrive in Italy as she hangs up. Marlena questions if she needs to ask what that was all about.

EJ sits in the living room of the DiMera Mansion and removes his ring as he uses hand sanitizer. Rita walks in, so EJ greets her and questions where she has been. Rita informs him that she was in Berlin at the behest of Tony. EJ questions when Tony will be appearing in Salem again. Rita thinks the next DiMera family gathering will be Lexie’s memorial service. EJ questions finding a date that works for everyone and remarks that who knows how long Chad will be gone on his little excursion to Italy.

Chad and Charlotte prepare for the father-daughter dance at home. They talk about Charlotte’s friend that was going to join them but she got an uncle to go with her. Chad gives Charlotte flowers, which she notes were Abigail’s favorite.

Brady and Rachel get ready for the father-daughter dance at home. Rachel asks when Sarah is coming back. Brady informs her that she’s not, so Rachel complains that she needed her help with hair and makeup. Brady tells her that Sarah is with Xander, helping Victoria get ready, so Rachel questions who is going to help her then.

Sarah brings Victoria to show Xander her dress for the father-daugther dance. Xander responds that Victoria is as beautiful as her mother, which Sarah calls a lovely compliment. Sarah tells Victoria that now she can finish getting ready. Victoria asks if Xander found her hair ribbons. Xander shows that he did and now Sarah can put them on for her, but Victoria says she wants Xander to do it because it’s a daddy daughter dance, not mommy daughter dance.

Brady encourages Rachel that she looks beautiful now but Rachel disagrees and complains that she thought Sarah would be there. Brady says he’s sorry and maybe next time they can get Marlena there. Brady hates to see Rachel sad and guesses this has more to do with Sarah not being there. Brady asks if Rachel is missing her mom. Rachel responds that she doesn’t miss her at all because whenever she was around, bad things happen, so it’s better that she’s gone. There’s a knock at the door, so Brady answers it to find a package addressed to Rachel.

Charlotte admits to Chad that she doesn’t remember much else about her mom. Chad says that’s because she was really young when Abigail died. Charlotte worries that she’ll keep remembering less about her. Chad encourages that she’s got him, Thomas, JJ, Julie, and so many people to keep her remembering Abigail with many pictures and memories. Chad reminds her that no matter what, her mom is always in her heart. Charlotte responds that she always feels her there as Chad hugs her.

Marlena asks Belle if she and Chad are heading to Italy tonight to wander around the streets and toss coins in fountains. Belle responds that they actually have a plan and have an entire list of things to check out. Belle mentions following the clues from Stefano’s chess set and now that Paul is back from his undercover mission, he’s available to help them with whatever they find. Marlena mentions hearing Belle list a Celtic knot as one of the clues and brings up that Stefano’s father was in love with Roman’s aunt, Colleen Brady, who was from Ireland, so Marlena questions if she’s sure these clues are leading them to Italy.

EJ asks if Rita looked in to the sale of the Kiriakis Mansion as he requested. Rita confirms that she did and the buyer is Dominic Marino who made an all cash offer. Rita says she tried inquiring if they would accept any other bids, but the answer was a firm no, so she doesn’t think there’s any way of stopping this sale. EJ questions why someone with no connection to Salem would be so insistent on buying the Kiriakis property.

Chad reminds Charlotte that Abigail is always watching over them. Chad adds that he promised her grandparents that they would take some pictures, so they do so. Charlotte tells Chad to bring her back a Pinocchio puppet and chocolate from Italy as they then exit for the dance.

Rachel opens her package which is a bracelet and a note from Kristen. Rachel questions how Kristen knew about the dance. Brady says he has no idea and suggests maybe she read about it online. Brady asks if she’s okay. Rachel admits she wasn’t telling the truth before as she does miss her mom all the time and wishes she knew why she left. Rachel adds that it makes her sad that Victoria has her mom helping her get ready, while all she has is a bracelet and a note. Brady tells Rachel that they don’t have to go to the dance if she doesn’t want to go, but Rachel says Kristen wouldn’t want her to stay home and feel sorry for herself, she’d want her to be strong like she is. Rachel declares that she is now ready to go to the dance, so they exit together.

Xander helps Victoria with her hair ribbon. Victoria says she loves it. Sarah admits she’s impressed and asks where Xander learned. Xander admits that he may have watched some videos. Xander points out that after today, they will no longer be living together so if he’s going to do his little girl’s hair, he has to be proficient. Victoria says she is beautiful and rushes out to go show Maggie as Sarah says they’ll meet her downstairs. Xander points out that Victoria is going to miss them all living together. Sarah encourages that he will still see Victoria all the time. Xander remarks that he just hates what they’ve lost and declares that EJ is tearing their family apart. Xander adds that tonight isn’t the night, but once they are all moved and settled, they are taking EJ down for the Coriseal and not letting him get away with it.

EJ instructs Rita to find out everything there is to know about Dominic Marino and the sale of the Kiriakis Estate. Rita agrees to do her best. EJ asks if she followed up with George. Rita assures that no one has been asking around about the contaminated batch of Coriseal or inquiring about where it was disposed. Rita says she made it clear that he is never to say a word about it. EJ asks if Rita found anything out about what Chad is searching for in Italy.

Belle tells Marlena that they aren’t very sure of anything but they have to start somewhere. Marlena asks even if it’s the wrong somewhere. Belle admits Stefano’s clues are very vague, but since they were meant for Marlena and John, they are going to be at a disadvantage. Marlena guesses she means because John’s not there and she’s not being very cooperative. Belle insists that’s not what she meant and that she would never ask her to do anything that makes her uncomfortable. Marlena responds that this whole thing makes her uncomfortable. Marlena then asks Belle to show her what she’s got, which surprises her. Marlena decides if she’s going to help her, she has to know what she’s working with.

Chad and Charlotte are at the Daddy Daughter Dance as Brady and Rachel arrive. Brady says it’s going to be a great night. Rachel spots Sarah and Victoria so she suggests they go say hi. Sarah comes over and greets them. Brady says they didn’t mean to pull her away while Sarah says she had to say hi to her favorite people. Sarah adds that she is on photo duty so she should get back. Brady tells her to have fun. Sarah says she’ll see them on the dance floor as she walks away. Xander and Victoria dance together while Sarah films on her phone. Brady and Rachel then dance together as well as Chad and Charlotte. Victoria runs up to Rachel to ask her to come dance with her, so Brady tells them to have fun. Sarah ends up joining in behind Xander as Brady watches on.

Rita tells EJ that as far as she can tell, Chad and Belle are jetting off to Italy to explore romance. EJ argues that they both know there’s more to it and that they are following clues from the chess set that Stefano left Marlena. Rita admits that could be part of the motivation behind the trip. EJ argues that it’s more than just part of it and that Rita must have some idea of where Stefano intended the search to lead.

Belle explains to Marlena that unless Paul comes up with something definitive, they plan to start in Rome and end up in Milan. Marlena asks to see the picture of the Celtic knot again which Belle notes only showed up when the put the lire under the black light. As Marlena looks at it, Belle asks what’s wrong. Marlena claims she just got lost in thought. Belle questions if the picture didn’t trigger a memory. Marlena responds that it might have meant something to John, but it doesn’t mean a thing to her. Belle thanks her for trying since she knows it’s very upsetting for her. Marlena responds that she just wants her to be safe as she and John spent their whole lives fighting the DiMeras, so she couldn’t bear it if something happened to her. Belle assures that it won’t and says she has to go meet Chad at the airport. Marlena encourages Belle as she promises they will come back if there’s any danger. Marlena comments that Chad seems like a good enough guy but they’ve lost so much to the DiMeras and repeats that she couldn’t bear it if something happened to her as Belle hugs Marlena.

Rita tells EJ that they both know Stefano never showed his full hand, even to her, so if he had some postmortem plan to send John and Marlena on some quest, she didn’t know about it. EJ guesses Rita must have some theory of what this is about or heard some chatter along the way. Rita insists she hasn’t heard a word and she’s just as curious as he is. Rita supposes they will all just have to wait and see.

Sarah joins Brady and says she’s sorry they haven’t gotten much time to spend together tonight. Chad comes over with Charlotte, who talks about how much fun she’s had. Chad says it’s past Charlotte’s bedtime and he’s got a flight to catch so they are leaving. Brady wishes Chad luck with that as Sarah says goodnight and they exit. Xander is at the table with Victoria and Rachel. Brady tells Sarah that he and Rachel are going to call it a night too. Sarah stops him and asks if everything is okay. Brady questions if she and Victoria still want to move in with him. Sarah asks why he would say that, assuring they do unless he’s changed his mind. Brady says of course not, so Sarah questions what this is about. Brady says he knows this isn’t the time or place, but he spoke with Philip, who said that he saw Sarah and Xander in the wine cellar and that they were about to kiss. Sarah starts to say that she doesn’t know what Philip thinks he saw. Brady says that he sees it too when she, Xander, and Victoria are together and the looks on their faces make it obvious. Sarah argues that it’s a dance and they are just having fun. Brady thinks it’s more than that and she knows it too. Brady tells Sarah that she knows how he feels about her and that his daughter loves her, but before they go any further, he needs to know this isn’t a mistake, so he’d be a fool not to ask her if she still loves Xander. Sarah looks back at Xander and then admits to Brady that she does.

EJ asks Rita why he feels like she knows something that she’s choosing not to share with him. EJ expects that Rita would tell him if Chad and Belle’s quest was putting them in danger. Rita insists that she has no idea if it’s dangerous or not. EJ decides he’ll just have to find out himself.

Chad joins Belle at the airport and tells her that the dance was perfect as Charlotte had the time of her life. Chad shows Belle pictures from the dance. Belle is glad they got to share that moment together. Chad guesses this trip has her thinking about her dad. Belle admits it feels like John is going on this adventure with them. Chad hopes so since there’s no one more qualified. Chad knows the whole point of this is to follow Stefano’s clues and see where it leads them, but he’s really looking forward to spending some time with her. Belle says she is too. They open the bottle of champagne that EJ sent them and toast to old adventures and a very exciting future.

Sarah tells Brady that she thought they talked about this and that he understood she would always care about Xander and they’ll always be connected through their daughter. Brady points out that he didn’t ask if she still cared about Xander. Sarah insists that she and Xander know loving each other isn’t enough since it always led to them hurting each other more and that what they had is over. Xander overhears from nearby as Sarah tells Brady that she’s sorry if she made him doubt how she feels about him and assures that Brady is who she wants to be with. Sarah tells Brady that Xander will always be part of her life and asks if that’s a deal breaker. Brady assures that it’s not as he understands better than anyone what it’s like to share a kid with an ex. Sarah asks if he’s not ready for her to move in or if he thinks it’s too soon. Brady explains that he was just worried that she was ambivalent about it. Brady assures that he would love for her to move in and that Rachel is so excited about it. Sarah kisses Brady and says she’s sorry if she upset him tonight, but it’s something they have to deal with so she’s glad it’s out in the open. Brady agrees and they go get Rachel to go. Rachel tells Victoria that she’s going to teach her so many dances when she moves in and they will be like sisters. Rachel says goodnight to Sarah and that she will see her when she moves in as Rachel and Brady exit together. Xander then tells Sarah that if she wants to go home with Brady, he can bring Victoria back to the Kiriakis Mansion, but Sarah says no and that they should have one last night at the mansion together. Xander says he was thinking about that and maybe they should just rip the bandage off. Sarah says okay if that’s what he wants. Xander says he just thinks it’s for the best.

Marlena remains at the Brady Pub and has a flashback to being in a bed with a blanket that had the Celtic knot on it.

EJ joins Chad and Belle at the airport and announces he’s just in time. Chad asks what the hell he’s doing here. EJ responds with a big smile that he’s going to Italy with them, leaving Belle and Chad confused.

Xander carries Victoria through the town square, talking about all the presents they got for her birthday as he sits with her on the bench. Xander tells Victoria that being her dad has been his best present.

Sarah begins moving in with Brady. Sarah tells Brady that she thinks she found room for all of Victoria’s things in his office. Brady assures that it’s fine. Sarah thanks him for letting them move in and promises it’s only temporary because she doesn’t want to cramp his style. Brady tells her that he loves spending time with her and that they can stay as long as they want.

Alex sits with Joy in her hospital room with Kelsey. Alex tells Joy about Kayla quickly diagnosing Kelsey’s ear infection and getting her started on antibiotics. Joy thanks Alex for bringing her by. Alex says he knew she’d want to see her mom. Joy says she’s going completely stir crazy in this room alone with nothing to do and jokes that she’s stuck watching reruns of old sitcoms from the 50s. Alex says it could be worse. Joy tells Alex that she really does appreciate the company but Philip arrives and interrupts them which seems to annoy Joy. Philip says he was just checking in to see how Joy’s doing but he can come back. Alex tells him that they were just taking off. Joy questions him leaving already, saying she barely got to spend any time with Kelsey. Alex responds that Kelsey is pretty wiped out and suggests they come back tomorrow. Joy says goodbye as Alex and Kelsey then exit. Philip tells Joy that he’s glad Alex gave them some time alone because she has some explaining to do.

Stephanie goes to the hospital and runs in to Steve. They are surprised to see each other. Steve thought she was spending the day with Alex. Stephanie says not anymore since Kelsey needed him as she had an ear infection. Alex then walks up with Kelsey, so Stephanie says that’s her cue to leave and tells Steve that she will see him later as she walks away. Steve tells Alex that he just heard about Kelsey’s ear infection. Alex says she just had her first antibiotics and seems a little less fussy. Steve recalls Stephanie’s first ear infection and he knows how miserable it can be. Steve says it looks like Kelsey is feeling a little better and offers to babysit with Kayla since he knows Alex wanted to spend the day with Stephanie, so if he goes now, he’ll have a few hours. Alex says that’s very kind of him and thanks him, but says he can’t let him do that.

Joy questions what she needs to explain to Philip. Philip informs her that he just got off the phone with Chloe, who had no idea that Joy is having surgery and asks if Chloe even knew she was in the hospital. Joy hopes Philip did not tell her.

Xander sits with Victoria playing with toy bongo drums that he got for her in the town square until he says that’s probably enough. Victoria says she wants to play music. Xander spots a piano nearby and takes Victoria to it. Victoria begins playing the piano which surprises Xander, who questions where she learned to do that. Victoria responds that she doesn’t know.

Sarah tells Brady that she should get back to the house as she’s helping Xander get Victoria ready for the father-daughter dance. Sarah asks if Rachel is ready. Brady responds that he bought her three dresses and she’s picking out which one now. Sarah says she’ll be there to take photos. Brady says they are thrilled that she’s going to be there.

Steve questions if Alex is doubting he and Kayla’s babysitting skills, insisting they are experts. Alex assures that he’s not and he appreciates the offer as he wants to go out with Stephanie, but it feels wrong to be pawning off his sick kid on her parents. Steve points out that Kayla is a doctor and is off shift soon. Steve adds that they both love babies and want to help, so he pleads with Alex to let them do this. Stephanie walks back by, so Alex stops her and asks how she feels about going to do something fun and letting her parents watch Kelsey. Steve assures that it will be fun for he and Kayla. Stephanie tells Steve that he’s the best. Steve tells them to get out and not to hurry home.

Philip tells Joy that when Chloe didn’t make her situation, he figured she hadn’t told her family, so he didn’t say anything. Joy says that’s good because the last thing she needs is to have to explain to her mother why she didn’t tell her as she would then call her dad and he’d want to talk to all her doctors about everything. Philip suggests she come up with a plan. Joy responds that her plan is to keep her family out of it and she appreciates Philip going along with it, but Philip says no. Philip says he may not have told them, but she’s going to, as he offers her the phone.

Sarah gets a call from Maggie. Sarah is shocked and says she’ll be right there as she hangs up. Brady asks what’s going on. Sarah informs him that Holly was almost mugged at knife point. Brady asks if she’s okay. Sarah says that luckily Lani was coming by and stopped the guy, who apparently wanted an expensive necklace that Daniel had given Maggie. Sarah feels it was convenient and worries that this could’ve been a warning from EJ, adding that she doesn’t know what to believe after what Arianna over heard EJ saying. Brady feels a mugging at knife point would be pretty extreme. Sarah says so is making everyone think that Holly relapsed. Brady says that’s true, but EJ doesn’t seem to think Holly knows anything about the Coriseal cover up. Sarah brings up everything EJ is doing to her family. Brady assures her that EJ is going to get what’s coming to him and tells her not to let thoughts of him ruin her day or night. Sarah agrees that Brady is the only man she should be focusing on as they kiss.

Steve sits with Kelsey at the hospital, saying they and Kayla are going to have a great time. Steve hopes Alex and Stephanie have an even better time.

Alex and Stephanie walk to the town square where Alex comments that he didn’t know Victoria was taking piano lessons. Xander says she’s not but maybe she should be. Xander talks about Victoria having him wrapped around her finger which Alex says he relates to. Xander says when he was younger, he used to think it would be insane to have kids but now, moments like this are what it’s all about. Xander brings up taking Victoria to her first father-daughter dance tonight and tells Alex that it won’t be long before he’s doing the same thing.

Philip questions what Joy is waiting for. Joy puts the phone down and says she’s not calling her parents because her mom will freak out and be on the first plane out, then she will make it all about herself. Joy argues that she can’t focus on getting better if she’s dealing with her hysteria. Philip says he knows about overbearing mothers while Joy points out that it’s her dad too. Philip argues that he’s a doctor. Joy says that means he would try to completely take over and she doesn’t want that, so she tells Philip to stop pressuring her. Philip gets not wanting to tell her parents, but asks about Chloe. Joy points out that she’s on a cross country tour, so she’s not going to ask her to cut that short. Philip doesn’t think she would mind and argues that Joy is having spinal surgery. Joy calls it a common procedure. Philip argues that she’s going to at least need help with Kelsey. Joy responds that they will be fine. Philip then declares that he knows that this is all about and that’s making sure Alex is taking care of Kelsey. Philip points out that if Joy keeps her family in the dark, that means Alex will have the baby all the time which means Stephanie won’t be. Philip remarks that this ordeal turned into an opportunity to keep Stephanie isolated and Alex more involved with Joy. Philip guesses that Joy is loving it while Joy shakes her head.

Sarah goes to the town square where Victoria runs up to hug her. Sarah asks how the birthday shopping went. Xander admits he may have gotten a little carried away. Sarah questions the bongos which Xander says Victoria had to have. Sarah suggests waiting on that until they get their own place. Xander asks why and remarks that he’s sure Brady would love them.

Alex and Stephanie walk to the park as Stephanie points out that he still hasn’t told her what he has planned. Alex explains that when Kelsey got sick, they had to cancel their restaurant reservation in Chicago, so he thought they could improvise right here. Stephanie asks if they’re not still doing the couples massage. Alex assures that they are and it will just be a little later while they have a picnic now. Stephanie tells him that it sounds perfect to her as they kiss.

Joy tells Philip that she’s lying in a hospital bed in so much pain that she can barely move and she can’t take care of her daughter, while he thinks she’s loving it. Philip argues that is why she should call her family so they can come support her and Alex. Joy responds that her injury is her business and if she tells her family, it will be when she’s ready, so he needs to butt out. Joy tells Philip not to come back and orders him to stay away, so he exits the room.

Philip goes to the Brady Pub and runs in to Brady, so they decide to sit together for lunch. Brady asks if he was coming from the office. Philip says he went to check on Joy at the hospital. Brady asks how she’s doing. Philip says she seemed okay but then he ticked her off and she kicked him out and told him not to come back. Brady asks what happened. Philip explains that he insisted she call her parents to tell them that she’s in the hospital. Brady is surprised that they don’t know. Philip adds that Joy was adamant that he not say a word, so he won’t break her confidence, but he hates that she’s going through this without her family and admits he’s worried about her. Brady offers to stop by the hospital later to see if he can smooth things over, since Joy is Chloe’s little sister, so he’s worried about her too.

Joy turns on the TV and begins watching a 50s sitcom which causes her to imagine herself, Alex, and Stephanie as characters in a 50s sitcom where Joy asks them to babysit Kelsey but gets turned down.

Stephanie and Alex eat together and talk about their picnic date. Alex mentions that he hopes she wasn’t bothered earlier by he and Xander talking about having kids changing your life. Stephanie says it didn’t bother her and agrees that it’s true. Stephanie says she gets that he has a child, so of course life is going to be different and he’s going to see the world through her eyes. Stephanie adds that every day, she sees how that has opened a whole different side of Alex and she really likes it.

Xander tells Sarah that they should get back to the house and get ready, but Victoria runs up to the woman playing the piano in the town square and asks her to play “All I Want”, which Victoria then sings to Sarah and Xander, surprising them and leaving them emotional.

Alex tells Stephanie that he knows it’s been a lot, having Kelsey show up out of nowhere. Stephanie says she can handle Kelsey, but it’s her mother. Alex knows she’s a lot and says he’s sorry. Stephanie states that he can’t control what Joy does. Alex feels he can find a better way to handle things as they aren’t the first people to deal with a difficult ex. Alex brings up how his mother handled things with Justin and Adrienne while Stephanie mentions her parents dealing with Ava. Alex says they figured out a way to make it work while Stephanie points out that they didn’t have to contend with being forbidden from being around a child. Alex says he will talk to Joy more about that, but Stephanie doesn’t think Joy will listen and that she will double down on her demands. Stephanie brings up how Joy threatened to take Kelsey and leave town. Alex points out that she later admitted that she’s glad she didn’t, which he takes as a sign that she’s willing to be reasonable. Stephanie questions how. Alex points out that if she actually left town, they would’ve had a massive custody battle while she’s dealing with this horrible injury and it would’ve been a disaster, so now she sees that she can’t just pack up and take off. Alex declares that the next step is getting Joy to see that keeping Stephanie away from Kelsey for the next 18 years cannot happen. Stephanie asks if he really thinks there’s a solution. Alex assures that he has to figure one out because he cannot keep going on like this as it’s killing him to choose between his wife and hi daughter. Alex tells Stephanie that he’s going to fix this and he’s not going to stop until he figures it out. They say they love each other as they kiss.

Joy imagines another 50s sitcom dream where she and Alex had gotten married where Joy shuts the door in Stephanie’s face, which makes Joy smile.

Brady tells Philip that he has to get going as he has his date with Rachel for the father-daughter dance at the club. Philip mentions Xander being so excited to take Victoria. Brady points out that Sarah will be there too, taking pictures of everyone. Philip comments that Xander won’t be too happy to see Brady and Sarah together and can’t imagine he’s thrilled about Sarah moving in with him. Brady jokes that maybe Xander won’t bring his baseball bat to the dance. Brady tells Philip that it’s okay as Xander knows that he and Sarah are over. Philip asks if Brady’s sure about that, which he says he is and questions why.

Victoria finishes singing “All I Want” for Xander and Sarah which Xander records on his phone as they applaud her. Xander can’t believe it and asks where she learned that. Victoria responds that she learned the song from Sarah. Xander asks if Sarah taught her that. Sarah explains that she sings it to her every night, but she didn’t think that Victoria memorized it. Xander says this is exactly what he was talking to Alex about when it comes to parenting with these moments. Xander tells Sarah that he just loves making family memories together. Xander adds that now that they aren’t living together anymore, there won’t be as much of that which breaks his heart.

Brady asks Philip why he would question if Xander knows whether he and Sarah are over. Philip tells him to forget it, but Brady demands an explanation. Philip responds that it might not be his business, but the other day, Xander and Sarah ended up locked in the wine cellar together and they almost kissed.

Alex and Stephanie recall their picnic on the 4th of July and say they love each other as they kiss. Alex reminds her how that picnic ended. Stephanie points out that was at night and they can’t be doing that in broad daylight. Alex jokes that he doesn’t see anyone around. Stephanie suggests taking it to the bedroom as they continue kissing.

Joy gets a call from Justin and says she got the custody papers he sent but she hasn’t gotten a chance to look at them yet. Joy promises she will and hangs up. Joy then remarks that if she and Alex were married, they wouldn’t need custody papers as they would be a family with just her, Alex, and Kelsey. Joy then calls Melinda Trask.

Brady questions Philip saying that Sarah and Xander almost kissed. Philip says that’s what it looked like when he opened the door to let them out. Brady points out that he’s not sure then. Philip says maybe he misunderstood, but he’s sure enough that he thought Brady should know.

Xander and Sarah take Victoria back home to get ready for the father-daughter dance.

Holly goes to the Kiriakis Mansion and tells Maggie it’s so good to see her, even though it’s in tough times and she can’t believe they have to sell the house. Maggie says she can’t believe it either. Holly says she keeps wishing Xander would run in and say he found a way to stop the sale, but she knows it’s a done deal. Maggie says they gave it a good run, but they’re afraid they are going to have to say goodbye.

Marlena, Lani, and Paulina clean up at Johnny and Chanel’s apartment. Paulina says they make a great team. Lani bets it also took her mind off as a distraction. Paulina talks about being excited for Chanel to be coming home with her baby. Marlena asks if Paulina wants to talk. Paulina feels there’s not much to say, as one minute she’s crying tears of joy over her new granddaughter and the next, she’s ugly crying over Abe.

Julie runs in to Abe in the town square and hugs him, saying she’s so sorry about Lexie. Julie asks how Theo is doing. Abe says he’s strong and he’s proud of him as Julie sends her love. Julie invites Abe and Theo to come over for dinner sometime. Abe says they would love that, so Julie says they will make it happen. Julie tells Abe that Foster started a grief book club if he would like to join. Abe says that might be wonderful and thanks her.

Dr. Patel enters Chanel’s hospital room to inform her and Johnny that she has Chanel’s test results and it’s good news. She announces the placenta is healthy with no sign of cancer and the CAT scan has shown no spread of the existing tumor. She talks about having a clearer picture and recommends a lobectomy as the best option. Johnny calls that tremendous news. Dr. Patel adds that if they want more goods, she and her team have decided that if Chanel is feeling well enough, she can go home today which thrills her and Johnny.

Holly tells Maggie that she’s really sorry as it feels so unfair. Maggie responds that it just a house and they may leave things behind, but they will take the memories and each other. Maggie reveals that she found a gift from Holly’s father Daniel in her things and she wants her to have it. Maggie hands her a necklace and adds that there’s a matching ring that she will give her when she finds it. Holly gets emotional as she thanks her and says it’s almost like getting a present from her dad. Maggie assures that he would be proud of her. Holly questions that since she’s made some bad choices. Maggie encourages that she’s been through a lot being here without her mother and facing unimaginable challenges. Maggie apologizes for not being there for the last few months to help her through it. Holly knows if she could have, she would.

Marlena understands Paulina’s emotions would be all over the place since last time they spoke, she just got the news about Lexie. Paulina calls it horrible news and says she feels so sorry for Abe. Marlena asks if she’s spoken to Abe. Paulina says she hasn’t. Lani points out that Paulina did hear from Theo. Lani decides she will go check on the Bakery and let them talk. Lani tells Paulina she loves her and thanks Marlena for being there as she exits. Marlena asks if Paulina wants to talk about what Theo said. Paulina repeats that she hasn’t heard from Abe and talks about helping with Chanel. Paulina declares that she doesn’t need Abe in her life and it doesn’t seem like he needs her either. Marlena doesn’t think that’s true.

Dr. Patel goes to start Chanel’s discharge paperwork. Chanel tells Johnny that she knows they could’ve handled whatever news they got but says she’s so grateful. Johnny calls it the best news they could’ve hoped for. Chanel realizes they didn’t finish setting up Olivia’s nursery and worries that they need to get on it. Johnny responds that he has a feeling they are more ready than she thinks. Chanel asks what he means. Johnny tells Chanel to get dressed while he goes to get Olivia ready. Abe comes in to visit them. Chanel says they were really sorry to hear about Lexie. Abe thanks her and says he came to see Olivia. Chanel introduces him to Olivia Alexandra. Abe welcomes her to the world.

Holly tells Maggie that just when she started to finally feel better after everything with Sophia, she got sick at the cabin. Maggie recalls hearing about arsenic and Coriseal, adding that Sarah believes EJ is responsible which Holly confirms. Holly informs Maggie that Arianna overheard EJ say he was relieved she hadn’t figured it out and says it has to be about the Coriseal. Maggie comments that she didn’t think EJ could sink further than Stefano. Holly can’t believe EJ made everyone think that she relapsed on drugs and tried to make it seem like he was the only one there for her. Holly states that every time she sees EJ, she wants to punch him in the face. Maggie warns that it would be very dangerous if EJ knew Holly was onto him. Maggie tells Holly that men like EJ keep score and exact revenge, so she asks her to please be careful. Holly agrees to do so and says she doesn’t have to worry about her.

Abe states that Lexie would be honored to share her name with Olivia. Johnny calls Lexie a special person. Abe says that Lexie will be looking out for Olivia. Abe gives Johnny a book he got for Olivia and says he thought about getting her a card, but he didn’t know if he should sign it “Grandpa Abe” or not. Chanel assures that he is a Grandpa to Trey and Olivia in every way that counts. Abe explains that he didn’t want to make things awkward for Paulina. Chanel insists she will be fine with it and that she thinks Paulina would love to hear from Abe. Abe admits he thought about reaching out to her, but he wasn’t sure she would that. Chanel tells Abe that Paulina wants to be there for him, but she doesn’t know how. Abe doesn’t think he could ask that of her as he doesn’t have the right to ask anything of her.

Paulina argues that if Abe wanted her in his life, he would’ve reached out by now. Paulina says she was going to send flowers or a sympathy note but second guessed herself and worried about it being too personal. Marlena points out that it’s not too late and asks if there’s another reason she isn’t connecting with Abe, like if she’s still angry with him. Paulina admits that it still stings that Abe chose Lexie over her and she’s not sure she can get over that because she will always know that she was Abe’s second choice. Marlena says that what she and Abe have is different than what he had with Lexie. Paulina feels she means less than. Paulina adds that she always knew Lexie was the love of Abe’s life and she was okay with that as long as she was part of his past. Paulina says that once Lexie was no longer just a memory, she felt like the other woman seeing them together, how happy Lexie made Abe, and how much they still loved each other. Paulina repeats that she doesn’t know if she can get past that.

Maggie runs in to Lani in the town square and comments on her helping out her sister. Maggie mentions hearing Chanel and Johnny had a baby girl, adding that Lani’s twins must be thrilled to have a cousin which Lani confirms. Maggie asks how Jules and Carver are doing. Lani says they are great and starting Kindergarten. Maggie asks how Lani feels about them going off to a real school. Lani says she’s fine until she looks at old baby photos that makes her cry. Maggie encourages her still having time at home. Lani worries that when school starts, she will have to fin something else to do with her day. Maggie jokes that she will have to come see her. Holly walks in to the town square and joins Julie at her book table. Holly tells Julie that she came to pick up a sociology text book she reserved. Julie tells her that she will go get it from the shop for her right after she helps the next man in line, so Holly steps aside. The man in line ends up asking Julie for the same sociology text book, so Julie points out that means he and Holly are going to be classmates. He guesses that means they will see each other every Tuesday and Thursday morning. He introduces himself as Mason, but when Holly introduces herself, Mason is taken aback by her name and says they’ve met. Mason then tells Julie he’ll come back later for the book and quickly walks away. Julie questions what that was about while Holly says she has no idea.

Marlena tells Paulina to take as much time as she wants to figure this out and she’ll be here any time she wants to talk. Paulina thanks her and says there is something else she wanted to talk to her about. Paulina is sure Marlena heard about how Johnny almost kept Abe and Theo from having a chance to say goodbye to Lexie. Marlena understands that Johnny believed that was Lexie’s wishes. Paulina remarks that’s what he said. Marlena points out that she and Paulina were in a similar situation when they knew Lexie was alive before Abe did. Paulina explains that what has her worried is that Johnny could be keeping other secrets for EJ. Paulina notes that Marlena doesn’t seem surprised and asks if she thinks so too. Marlena assures that she doesn’t know anything but agrees to talk to Johnny when she sees him. Chanel and Johnny then come home with Olivia. Paulina excitedly greets them as Chanel confirms that the doctors cleared both her and Olivia.

Julie brings Holly her textbook and wishes her luck with the class. Julie comments on Holly’s beautiful necklace. Holly thanks her and says that Maggie just gave it to her as a gift from Daniel. Julie says he always had marvelous taste and that he’d be happy she’s wearing it as she tells Holly that it suits her. Holly thanks Julie again as she walks away. Behind them, a man stands up from the bench and follows Holly.

Paulina says the good Lord has answered their prayers. Johnny says they just have one more round of chemo and then will schedule the lobectomy. Paulina says they will all pitch in to help out then and Marlena says to add her to that too. Johnny comments that it looks like they’ve already helped out. Chanel asks what they’ve done and then realizes this is why Johnny said not to worry as Paulina says she can’t wait for her to see the nursery. Chanel doesn’t know how to thank them. Paulina declares that seeing Chanel happy like this is all the thanks they need which Marlena agrees with. Paulina takes Chanel to see the bedroom to give Johnny some time with Marlena.

Maggie surprises Julie in the town square. Julie is shocked to see her as she welcomes her home and they hug. Abe enters the town square and sees Lani, who asks how he’s doing. Abe mention just stopping at the hospital to see Chanel and Olivia. Abe states that seeing Olivia lifted his spirits. Abe adds that Johnny and Chanel assured him that they still consider him Grandpa Abe. Lani questions there ever being a doubt. Abe admits he wasn’t sure. Lani assures that Chanel loves him and no matter what happens, he and Theo are family as they are all so lucky to have them in their lives. Julie sits with Maggie and says she’s delighted to have her back in Salem despite the circumstances that brought her home. Maggie encourages that they will get through it. Julie asks where Maggie is staying. Maggie responds that she will book a suite at the Salem Inn to figure out what she’s going to do, but Julie declares that Maggie will stay with her without question.

Paulina shows Chanel the work they did in the bedroom and says she will show her the nursery when Trey wakes up. Paulina talks about Trey and Olivia, saying it makes her wish that Chanel and Lani could’ve grown up together. Chanel understands why Paulina felt she had to keep Lani secret. Paulina says she will always regret it but Chanel says Paulina was just trying to protect her. Paulina declares that all she’s ever wanted is to protect her girls from cruel, power hungry men. Chanel guesses she means men like EJ.

Johnny asks if Marlena has any advice for him about being a girl dad and raising two kids at the same time. Marlena responds that John used to say being a father was like being a ball player, you have to step up and take big swings. Johnny remembers that. Johnny says it seemed like Paulina thought Marlena might have something to ask him. Marlena confirms that she does have something to talk to him about, but she’s not sure he will want to hear it. Johnny insists that he always appreciates her advice and questions what it is that she wants to talk to him about. Marlena is thinking perhaps there’s something he would like to talk to her about. Johnny asks if it’s about Lexie. Marlena responds that this is about Holly. Johnny questions what about her. Marlena asks what EJ did and how much Johnny knew about it.

Paulina tells Chanel that she does not love that Johnny kept that secret about Lexie for EJ. Chanel admits that she doesn’t love it either. Paulina questions Johnny and EJ getting awfully close lately. Chanel says she doesn’t like EJ having an influence over their lives, but questions what she’s supposed to do. Paulina advises Chanel to tell Johnny to quit his job at DiMera.

Maggie tells Julie that she can’t stay with her and put her out like that, but Julie insists that she loves having a full house and that it will be their chance to spend quality time with each other again. Julie tells Maggie that she must accept. Maggie decides she would love to stay with her on the condition that she kicks her out as soon as she gets sick of her. Julie responds that she could never get sick of her in a thousand lifetimes as they hug. Lani insists on getting Abe whipped cream for his coffee, so Abe agrees to watch the Bakery table while she’s gone as Lani walks away.

The man from the town square follows Holly to the front of the Brady Pub. She turns around questions who he is and if EJ sent him. He responds that he came on his own and demands that Holly give him her necklace. Holly says no and tells him he can’t have it because it’s really special to her, so she’s not handing it over just because some low life loser asked her to. He responds that he’s not asking as he then pulls a knife on Holly. Lani then comes running up and tackles the man while instructing Holly to call 911.

Johnny tells Marlena that he’s sorry but he doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Marlena tells him not to lie to her. Johnny insists that he’s not lying and that if EJ crossed the line again, he wouldn’t be surprised, but if he did, he doesn’t know anything about it. Johnny questions what Marlena thinks EJ did. Marlena responds that she’s not going to continue this charade if he’s going to be dishonest. Marlena tells Johnny that if EJ put him in a position, she can help him and wants to help him. Olivia wakes up which takes Johnny’s attention away as Chanel and Paulina return to the room.

Holly finishes her 911 call as Lani sits the man on the bench and informs him that the cops are coming for him. Lani asks Holly if she’s okay. Holly thanks Lani for being there. Mason comes by and asks what’s going on. Holly informs him that the guy tried to steal her necklace but Lani stopped him. Mason asks if Lani needs any help but she says she’s good. Mason says he can tell and asks if Lani is military. Lani responds that she used to be a police officer. Holly remarks that she’s fine too despite him not asking. Mason then turns around and walks in to the Brady Pub, leaving Holly confused.

Philip joins Gabi in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion and asks if she’s ready to go see him win back the Kiriakis legacy in Monte Carlo. Gabi responds that since she’s funding his heroics, she thinks she deserves a front row seat. Philip agrees and says he does have a cover story for why they are leaving town which is that he’s accompanying Gabi to Europe to make contingency plans for Gabi Chic shipping if Titan folds. Gabi says that’s perfect and they are all set, but Philip says there’s still one more detail they need to take care of. Philip then gets down on one knee and proposes to Gabi.

At Rafe’s house, he and Cat talk about the pressure mounting on EJ. Cat agrees that EJ is uncharacteristically at a loss right now and admitted he doesn’t know what to do next. Rafe worries that doesn’t bode well for any of them since being at a loss is unfamiliar territory for EJ, which makes him very dangerous.

Gwen confronts EJ at the DiMera Mansion and questions if he was ever going to tell her that Lexie was dead, complaining that she had to find out in the Spectator. Gwen asks if EJ wasn’t going to tell her that Dr. Rolf’s miracle drug was a failure and that their investment has now gone up in smoke.

Leo goes to the Brady Pub and runs in to Javi. Leo comments that they seem to be on the same schedule. Javi responds that they won’t be for long as starting next week, he’s moving to night shift. Leo says that’s too bad as he was going to ask if he wanted to grab a drink, but Javi says he doesn’t think that’s a good idea.

Xander goes to see Marlena for his therapy session. Xander apologizes for being late as he was helping Sarah pack up Victoria’s things. Xander imagines Marlena has heard that Sarah and Victoria are moving in with Brady until they find a place of their own. Marlena asks how that was for Xander. Xander says he kept his composure, but admits it’s killing him inside.

Philip reminds Gabi that if she’s going to Monte Carlo as his fiancee, she has to look the part. Gabi didn’t think he would find a ring so soon. Philip reveals that it’s Maggie’s and it caught his eye as the staff were packing up her jewelry. Philip clarifies that it’s on loan and they just need to return it safe and sound before Maggie notices it’s gone. Philip then puts the ring on Gabi’s finger. Maggie then returns home, surprising Philip and Gabi. Philip hugs Maggie while Gabi manages to remove the ring from her finger behind her back. Maggie says it’s good to see them while Philip guesses he missed the memo that she was coming home today. Maggie says that Sarah knows but guesses she didn’t have the chance to tell him. Maggie adds that Melanie is staying with Melissa, so she decided she needed to be here to get closure before they have to say goodbye to her home.

Marlena tells Xander that she’s proud of him for using some of the techniques he’s learned to temper his anger. Xander says there’s enough family drama right now without Hurricane Xander. Xander adds that Sarah just told him that Maggie is coming home which has brought up feelings of guilt, shame, and responsibility for everything that’s going on now. Marlena feels there’s enough responsibility to go around.

Leo questions why it’s a bad idea for he and Javi to grab a coffee. Javi responds that the problem is that he jumped into a relationship as soon as he and Leo ended things, so he’s not going to do that again.

Cat knows Rafe is worried about their operation, but insists she has it under control and still feels comfortable in EJ’s company for now. Rafe questions what she means for now. Cat informs Rafe that yesterday, she had another hypnosis session with Marlena and she had a memory of her and EJ in the Italian clinic where she remembered telling EJ that she was ISA, which shocks Rafe.

EJ complains that he tried to tell Gwen over and over that the drug wasn’t working, but she wouldn’t hear it, saying she wouldn’t let him rain on her parade. EJ adds that when he tried to broach the subject again, she disappeared. Gwen argues that she was kidnapped by her psychotic ex husband and EJ’s nephew, Dimitri, who obviously deprived him of the pleasure of doing it himself. EJ questions why he would kidnap her. Gwen says it would be to stop her from buying the hospital from underneath him. EJ jokes that if that was his intent, it’s not too late to make her disappear.

Gabi decides she should get going and tells Maggie that it’s so good to see her as she’s so glad she’s home. Gabi hugs Maggie as she then exits. Maggie guesses she shouldn’t unpack and mentions hearing that Kate already moved out. Philip confirms she moved back to the Pub, hoping she and Roman can fix their marriage. Maggie asks if Philip has a place or if he’s going back to the Salem Inn. Philip says he hasn’t decided yet. Maggie tells him he better hurry since they will have to say goodbye soon. Philip says probably, which Maggie questions, noting that it’s difficult for all of them but they have to be realistic. Philip says he’s the one who put the family in this situation with his bogus claim to the company, so he’s the one who has to make it right. Maggie questions how when they’ve exhausted every possibility.

Xander questions Marlena feeling responsibility for what’s happened with Titan. Marlena points out that she urged Xander to come forward about his involvement in setting Johnny up with the lawsuit. Xander says she thought that was the right thing to do. Marlena says she does but she never imagined EJ would retaliate and buy Titan’s loan to call it. Xander guesses they both should’ve predicted EJ would go that far, but perhaps EJ should’ve predicted that he will retaliate. Marlena questions what that means. Xander responds that losing the company is business and life, but not losing it to EJ and watching him screw over his family. Xander declares that he will make sure EJ suffers for it.

Gwen calls EJ pathetic for resorting to empty threats when he knows damn well that he’s completely alienated himself in town because of his amoral shenanigans. Gwen declares that EJ has ruined his reputation and will lose the hospital no matter who buys it. EJ responds that it sure as hell won’t be her. EJ questions why the board would hand over the hospital to Gwen when she was his accomplice. EJ laughs off that he doesn’t need to kidnap her, he just needs to tell the board the truth and Gwen will be through.

Rafe can’t believe Cat told EJ that she was ISA. Cat argues that she had suffered a traumatic brain injury and had no idea who he was at the time. Rafe says he gets it and what’s done is done, but worries about if EJ remembers her telling him. Cat doesn’t think he will since it was years ago and he was in a coma. Rafe points out that EJ remembers her reading to him and if other memories start to surface, he will figure it out quick. Rafe knows Cat doesn’t think it’s likely, but warns that if he does, she needs to be prepared.

Leo asks Javi who said anything about a relationship as he was just suggesting a casual get together in public. Leo argues that they don’t need to be in a relationship to hang out every once in awhile. Leo adds that no one makes him laugh like he does. Javi decides he should go. Leo tries to stop him but Javi exits the Pub.

Cat tells Rafe that she can’t just abandon the operation now when she’s made so many great inroads with EJ. Rafe says they have to figure out how to neutralize him if he does remember. Cat feels there is a way they can get ahead of this. Rafe guesses it’s not without risk. Cat says that comes with the territory.

Gwen tells EJ that she’s spent her entire life hearing that she’s through or she can’t and she’s learned with age that it’s all rubbish. Gwen thinks she’s dealt with this disastrous situation with great aplomb which EJ laughs at. Gwen argues that she stopped EJ from going down in flames when she had every opportunity to tell Rafe and Jada about his involvement in Dimitri’s kidnapping. EJ argues that she only kept her mouth shut to save her own ass because she knew she’d be implicated too. Gwen informs him that they actually offered her immunity. EJ then assumes that she must be afraid of the repercussions of double crossing him. Gwen responds that she just has trust issues with law enforcement and didn’t think they would hold up their end of the bargain. EJ remarks that if they don’t hang together, they’ll hang separately. Gwen questions if he’s proposing they join forces. EJ calls it a continuation of a dynamic partnership. EJ declares that he will support her buying the hospital and keep his mouth shut about her investment in Dr. Rolf’s drug experiment while all she has to do is cut him in on the deal.

Leo runs in to Gabi at the Pub and says it’s so good to see her. Gabi tells Leo not to try to pump her about Javi because her lips are sealed. Leo says he wasn’t going to pump her but he is concerned about Javi after what must have been a very difficult breakup. Gabi tells Leo that Javi’s break up is none of his damn business. Gabi adds that she really liked Gus and she hates that Leo’s ordeal in Alamainia ruined what appeared to be a loving and drama free relationship. Leo questions what his trip to Alamainia has to do with Gus and Javi’s breakup. Gabi is surprised Javi didn’t tell him and reveals that Gus broke up with Javi because of Leo.

Gwen questions EJ as to why she would entertain the idea when he didn’t think twice about double crossing her. Gwen adds that EJ is the same man who has proven time and time again that he is not to be trusted. EJ suggests she might entertain the idea because if Versavix eventually makes it to market, whoever owns the hospital stands to perhaps make billions. EJ tells Gwen that if they keep their heads down and play the long game, they have a chance to recoup their losses but they have to stick together. EJ says only this time, he would play Gwen’s silent partner instead of the other way around. Cat then walks in and asks if she’s interrupting.

Maggie questions Philip saying they haven’t exhausted every possibility and if he’s hatched up some kind of plan. Philip says he’s sorry but he can’t talk about it. Maggie says he has her worried and questions what risks he’s taking. Maggie then guesses that it’s gambling.

Gwen tells Cat that she’s not interrupting anything at all as they were just discussing the sale of the hospital. Gwen tells EJ that she’ll be in touch about an offer soon. Gwen tells Cat that she hopes to catch up with her as she exits the mansion. Cat comments to EJ that they were much more civil than she would’ve expected. EJ says he’s pleasantly surprised to see Cat. Cat responds that he might not feel so pleasant when she tells him what she came to share with him.

Philip tells Maggie that gambling is a bit of a leap. Maggie says that’s the only thing she can think of unless he’s come up with a brilliant idea that somehow evaded them. Philip repeats that he can’t talk about it. Maggie stops him and says as an addict, she understands. Maggie warns him not to do this and says Victor would rather they lose everything than see him go down that road again.

Gabi tells Leo that Javi wanted to go to Alamainia to save him which led Gus to realize that Javi still had feelings for him, so he bailed. Leo doesn’t understand since Javi runs the other way every time he sees him. Leo guesses Javi doesn’t want to get his heart broken again.

Xander informs Marlena that DiMera Pharmaceuticals were responsible for poisoning the well water on Smith Island and nearly killing Holly. Marlena asks if there’s proof that EJ knew there was a Coriseal leak and somehow covered it up. Xander says that it’s all circumstantial right now, but Marlena might be the key to nailing EJ to the wall if she’s willing to help. Marlena tells him that she is listening. Xander knows this won’t be easy to hear, but apparently Arianna overheard a conversation between EJ and Johnny where EJ told Johnny that Holly didn’t know anything about it. Xander believes they were talking about Holly being poisoned. Marlena questions if Xander is saying he thinks Johnny was involved in the Coriseal scandal. Xander says at least in the cover up. Xander adds that he doesn’t want to cause her anxiety about her grandson and he’s aware this goes beyond their therapeutic relationship. Marlena agrees to talk to Johnny about what he knows as she will do anything she can to help.

Maggie reminds Philip of the consequences of his addiction and asks if it was worth it. Maggie says they can lose the house but the family is in tact and they are all healthy which is all that matters. Maggie calls this an option for a fresh start and for Philip to make a new, better life for himself. Philip responds that nearly every decision he makes, he asks what would Victor do and want. Maggie states that Victor would want him to be happy. Philip agrees as they hug and he thanks her.

Javi goes home where Rafe says he’s glad he’s home for lunch. Javi informs Rafe that starting next week, he’s switching to the night shift so that he and Gus don’t have to keep running in to each other at the station. Javi says there’s no bad blood, but he still feels really guilty since Gus uprooted his entire life to be here with him. Rafe asks if Gus doesn’t want to move back to Texas. Javi admits that he thought he would but Gus no longer has a job or place to stay there, so he’s sticking around. Rafe asks if he thinks Gus is holding onto hope that they get back together. Javi says Gus broke up with him so he doesn’t think so. Rafe asks what Javi is hoping for.

Leo argues that Gabi told him it was none of his business why Javi and Gus broke up and then she told him exactly why. Gabi says she’s telling him this because she loves her cousin and just wants him to be happy. Leo states that he still loves Javi, so he questions if Gabi is trying to help them get back together. Gwen then walks in to the Pub and takes a seat next to Leo, then finishes his drink and demands another. Leo questions what’s wrong with her. Gwen complains about EJ being a two timing bastard. Gabi says they can all agree there. Gwen suggests they swap stories. Gabi informs her that while they were in Alamainia, she discovered that DiMera Enterprises was responsible for the counterfeit Gabi Chic mess and it has EJ’s fingerprints all over it. Gwen says she’d be happy to take him down and comments on the enemy of her enemy being her friend. Leo says he is late for an appointment with Marlena, so he will leave them to conspire together, but says to include him on whatever revenge scheme they come up with against EJ as he then exits. Gwen asks Gabi what she can do to help. Gabi states that the first thing she needs is proof.

Cat tells EJ that she’s sorry she didn’t tell him this sooner as she desperately needed the job and then she loved the job and got closer to him. Cat says the more time went on, the harder it got. EJ feels he should brace himself. Cat brings up the time they spent in the Italian clinic together and reveals it was not a coincidence as they were both there as victims of Clyde Weston. Cat declares that EJ was there as a victim of one of his associates while she was there trying to bring Clyde down in service to the ISA, which shocks EJ.

Gwen tells Gabi that she would love to bring EJ down but she’s not really in a position to be able to interrogate EJ over knock off Gabi Chic purses, but she thinks she knows someone who can’t help.

Leo goes to his appointment with Marlena and excitedly tells her about learning that Javi still has feelings for him and that’s why he and Gus broke up. Leo feels he needs to find a way to break through to Javi. Marlena encourages him to stay calm and let nature take it’s course.

Javi tells Rafe that he has come to realize that Gus was right that he’s not over Leo, who now says he wants to be friends. Rafe asks what Javi wants. Javi thinks he just needs some time to be alone and figure things out. Rafe says that sounds reasonable, but reminds Javi that when Leo wanted time to figure things out, Javi moved on. Rafe advises Javi not to let that happen to him.

Xander goes home to the Kiriakis Mansion and tells Maggie that he’s so glad to see her and that she’s home, even though this won’t be home much longer. Xander tells her that he’s sorry as he hoped it wouldn’t come to this. Maggie tells him that they will all survive together. Xander asks if Philip told her about his mysterious plan. Maggie says only that he had one, but not what it was. Xander hates to say it, but no matter what Philip accomplishes, it probably won’t be enough to stop the sale of the house. Xander adds that he told the realtor to delay the sale, but she thinks the mysterious Italian billionaire will want to sign the papers now. Maggie says that if not, it would fall in the hands of EJ. Xander reveals the name of the buyer to be Dominic Marino and says at least he’s on the up and up, and not connected to EJ. Maggie says that’s the best they can hope for. Maggie knows that Xander did everything he possibly could to save the estate and the business. Maggie tells him not to worry about Philip’s plan anymore because she talked him out of it.

Philip runs in to Gabi at the Pub. Gabi says she was just about to go on a shopping spree for their trip and asks if everything is alright. Gabi asks how his conversation with Maggie went. Philip responds that it took Maggie two minutes to figure out he was going to gamble. Gabi asks if he’s changed his mind and if Maggie talked him out of the poker game. Philip admits she tried and he had to pretend that she did. Philip declares that this risk is worth everything.

EJ questions Cat being ISA. Cat says she was an analyst and worked at a desk, but somehow Clyde figured out that she was the one following his money and came after her, so the ISA paid for her surgery and rehab, but when she was discharged from the clinic, she left that life behind. Cat says she lost everything and wanted nothing to do with them. Cat adds that if her history with the ISA diminishes his trust in her or if he wants to fire her as his assistant, she will totally understand. EJ responds that they all have a past, so he’s not going to hold hers against her. EJ wonders why Cat has decided to tell him this now after all this time. Cat responds that she’s really drawn to him and feels closer to him every day, like they could really have something, but there can be no secrets between them as she’s seen how secrets destroy relationships, so she thought she would put all her cards on the table. Cat asks EJ if they are over, but EJ responds by kissing her and then hugs her.

Steve and Jack have drinks at the Brady Pub while talking about baseball season. Jack mentions that he’s glad Steve was able to meet since he didn’t know what he was going to do with Jennifer still in Boston. Steve points out that Kayla’s off at a medical conference, so he’s kind of in bachelor mode as well. They then toast to having brother time. Arianna enters the Brady Pub and goes to see Kate at the bar. Kate asks if she forgot something for her dorm. Ari says that she came straight from her internship at DiMera because she needs to talk to her now.

Chad works at the Salem Spectator office until EJ shows up. Chad asks if they have a meeting scheduled. EJ asks if he’s not allowed to pop in and say hello to his brother. Chad says not usually and asks what’s up. EJ wants Chad to tell him why he and Belle are jetting off to Italy.

Belle is at home on the phone, talking about having her cases covered but says if anything comes up, she’s always reachable on her cell phone. Marlena brings her a sandwich as Belle talks about how busy she’s been making work arrangements. Belle says she’s trying to get everything covered before her and Chad leave tonight. Marlena says not to remind her.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Xander is packing up everything as he looks up to the portrait of Victor and tells him that everything he ever owned is now packed up in cheap cardboard boxes as Sarah walks in behind him.

Steve tells Jack that his drive back to Boston will be a lot different than coming here with the kids. Jack jokes about not having to mediate between them. Steve envies Jack having grandkids and admits that he and Kayla are hoping to have their own real soon. Jack encourages that it’s going to happen. Steve guesses he’s sort of a grandparent now, but not in the way they expected. Jack can’t believe Joy showed up out of the blue with Alex’s baby. Steve doesn’t think Stephanie could believe it either. Steve says that Stephanie has been through so much this year and now Joy is refusing to let her spend time around the baby. Jack states that nothing hurts more than seeing your baby in pain and feeling helpless. Arianna sits with Kate and brings up Kate telling her to keep her ear to the ground at DiMera and she overheard a conversation between EJ and Johnny. Ari reveals to Kate that she heard EJ tell Johnny “there’s nothing to worry about, Holly doesn’t know anything about it”.

Sarah tells Xander that he can’t blame himself. Sarah says she was just helping Holly move in to the dorms, so she decided to stop by and see if he needed any help with anything. Xander thanks her but says he has it under control. Sarah tells Xander that she thinks Victor would be very proud of him for everything he did to try to save Titan. Holly then walks in and tells them that she just ran in to EJ and almost blurted out that she knows what he did, but she didn’t. Holly complains that it’s so hard to look at EJ and not let him have it, by letting him know that they are this close to proving he poisoned her and all those other people.

Chad tells EJ that he and Belle are going to Italy to enjoy the sights, but EJ is not buying it. Chad calls it the #1 tourist attraction in the world but EJ corrects him that it’s France. EJ guesses that it has to do with the chess set that Stefano left and that he’s chasing down on a lead on it.

Belle tells Marlena that she won’t remind her that she and Chad are leaving tonight on the DiMera Jet and landing in Rome tomorrow morning, but insists they will be fine. Marlena agrees to try to lighten up. Belle asks about the cut on Marlena’s hand. Marlena calls it a needle point accident and guesses she got distracted. Belle asks what she was distracted by. Marlena thinks back again to poking her finger on the Sleeping Beauty pillow that Stefano sent her 25 years ago, but just tells Belle that it’s a lot of things.

Kate and Arianna wonder what EJ was talking about that Holly had no idea about. Kate thinks the best way to find out is to ask Holly.

Chad tells EJ that he’s not going to do this with him today, but even if the chess board is the reason they are going to Italy, he questions why EJ cares so much. EJ says the chess board was part of Stefano’s last requests and now that he’s truly gone, he’s trying to find out who he really was. EJ then laughs it off and admits he’s just curious.

Marlena knows Belle and Chad are going to chase down some clues in Italy, but she hopes they do have time to enjoy themselves while they are there. Marlena recalls when she and John were married in Italy and how John gave her a coin to make a wish at the fountain. Belle asks what she wished. Marlena says she wished their love would continue growing stronger and that they would always trust each other. Belle asks if that’s the coin she found at his grave. Marlena confirms it just appeared there.

Sarah tells Holly that she’s so sorry she has to keep this secret. Xander adds that they’ve been trying to proof that EJ was behind it, but he’s been sidetracked by the loss of Titan. Sarah notes that having EJ’s name all over it while Holly remarks that he really gets around. Xander tells Holly not to worry about this. Sarah assures they are on the case and will make sure that EJ pays for what he did to her.

Chad tells EJ that he’s not saying anything since Stefano left the chess set to Marlena, so it’s not his concern. EJ argues that the chess board is part of Stefano’s legacy, which means it concerns all of them. Jack then arrives and asks if he’s interrupting. EJ says he was just leaving and exits.

Marlena tells Belle that she always keeps the coin with her as it helps her feel close to John, which is why she wants Belle to take it to Italy with her. Belle says absolutely not since it’s her coin. Marlena talks about it making her feel like John is always watching over her, so she wants Belle to take it so she knows he’s watching over her too. Marlena jokes with her not to throw it in the fountain. Belle promises she won’t and thanks her as they hug.

Sarah complains to Xander that this shouldn’t be happening and that it’s no one’s fault but EJ’s. Sarah adds that EJ could’ve killed Holly. Xander agrees that they won’t let him get away with it. Sarah declares that EJ better stay away from Holy in the meantime.

Arianna joins Holly in their dorm room. They talk about Holly listening to Ariana Grande as Holly asks Ari if her DiMera internship was another boring day. Ari says not exactly today.

Jack apologizes for not calling first but Chad says it’s fine. Jack says he wanted to discuss this at the office instead of at Julie’s. Jack asks Chad about the status of the search for a new editor. Chad says it hasn’t felt like anyone is the right fit so far. Jack reveals he has a thought then.

Arianna tells Holly that she overheard EJ saying in the office that he ran in to Holly, that she seemed upset, and that for a second he was worried she had figured it out but that she didn’t know anything. Ari asks if she has any idea what he could’ve been talking about. Holly claims that she’s not sure.

EJ returns home to the DiMera Mansion where Sarah storms in and calls him a son of a bitch. EJ assumes this has something to do with the Kiriakis family losing their business and their home. Sarah calls him a heartless bastard. EJ guesses she came to read him the riot act. Sarah says she was going to give him hell about hurting her mother, Brady, and a whole host of people she cares about, but then she realized that she doesn’t have to because EJ is losing as much as the Kiriakis family. EJ asks how she figures that. Sarah points out that EJ is about to lose the hospital to Gwen. EJ tells her not to count her chickens just yet, but he understands why she thinks Gwen might take the hospital from him since she’s well aware of how Gwen can steal something or someone right from under your nose.

Xander climbs up to remove Victor’s portrait from the wall of the Kiriakis Mansion.

Marlena joins Steve at the Brady Pub and tells him about Belle and Chad going to Italy to chase a lead on Stefano’s chess set. Marlena tells him that a clue led them to the Verdi concert, where someone slipped a paper in Belle’s program, so they are apparently being fed clues in real time. Marlena adds that they know Stefano is dead and gone, but somebody is fulfilling his wishes. Marlena wants to hire Steve to find out who that is and what they want.

Jack meets Kate in the town square. Kate says he was rather cryptic on the phone, so she asks what this is about. Jack tells her how sorry he is to hear about what happened at Titan. Jack says he’s not in position offer a loan, but it got him thinking about her history with the Spectator and what a damn good editor she is. Jack informs Kate that there’s an opening at the Spectator right now for an editorial position and asks if she’s interested.

Sarah reminds EJ that she and Xander are divorced, so if he thinks bringing up his ancient history with Gwen is going to get under her skin, he would be dead wrong. EJ says he’s simply pointing out that she can’t blame everything on him, including the shipwreck of Titan. Sarah asks if he’s serious, arguing that he bought out Titan’s loan and then demanded they pay it in full. EJ argues that he wouldn’t have done that if they didn’t set up his son for a lawsuit and asks what Sarah would’ve done if someone did that to Victoria. Sarah agrees that she would want revenge against anyone who hurt her kid or anyone else she loves.

Xander packs up Victor’s portrait as he gets a call from Holly. Holly tells Xander that she just talked to Ari, who said she overheard a conversation with EJ and Johnny today where EJ said he was worried about Holly being upset today but was relieved to find out it was just about the house and then he told Johnny that she knew nothing about it. Holly guesses it has to be about the Coriseal. Xander agrees and thanks Holly for calling as he really thinks they can use this. Holly asks him to not say anything to Arianna or say anything about where this came from as she doesn’t want Ari to get in any trouble. Xander assures her that Ari won’t be the one in trouble as he hangs up.

Chad joins Belle in the town square. Chad talks about how excited Charlotte is for the father-daughter dance. Belle can’t wait to see all the videos when they get on the plane tonight. Belle adds that it will be her first time on the DiMera private jet, so she will be relishing every second and they will have to come up with a plan on what to do when they touch down in Italy. Chad agrees that they have no idea what they are looking for and asks if Belle is nervous. Belle admits that she is a little because of not knowing what they’re in for and also about them being there in Italy. Belle jokes about getting to know someone when you travel and they joke that they will discover their annoying habits and say they will find out together.

Steve asks Marlena if Chad or Belle has any idea who is feeding them the clues. Marlena says they think it’s Dr. Rolf. Steve says that’s the obvious choice, but they don’t know who Stefano was in cahoots with before he died or who he might’ve asked to carry out his wishes. Marlena informs Steve that Chad and Belle are heading to Italy tonight on the DiMera jet. Steve says that’s good and thinks it’s a smart move since knowledge is power. Marlena admits she is concerned for them, but agrees that it is the right move.

EJ tells Sarah that he’s glad they can agree on something. Sarah warns that he may have thought he got his payback on the Kiriakis family, but it doesn’t end here, as they are going to rise from the ashes. Sarah warns EJ that karma is coming for him and his days are numbered. EJ claims to have no idea what alleged misdeeds she’s talking about and asks if that’s all. Sarah says that’s all for now as she walks out of the mansion. EJ then calls Rita and tells her that he needs her to get on George to make sure he keeps the lid shut on the Coriseal situation because it appears Sarah hasn’t let it go yet.

Kate questions Jack wanting to hire her as Metro Editor of the Spectator. Jack points out that she’s more than qualified with tons of experience and she gets along with Chad, so she’s the perfect candidate. Kate asks if Chad agrees. Jack admits he hasn’t mentioned it to Chad yet as he wanted to test the waters with her first. Kate agrees to think about it. Jack says he’d like to let Chad know sooner than later.

Sarah returns to the Kiriakis Mansion where Xander notes that she looks flushed and asks if she’s alright. Sarah says she’s fine and just got really upset thinking about all the horrifying amoral things EJ has done and gotten away with. Sarah admits she couldn’t help herself so she went over there and gave EJ a piece of her mind. Xander asks if it made her feel better. Sarah says not really. Xander thinks he might have something to do the trick as he just got a very interesting phone call from Holly.

EJ tells Rita that he knew Chad booked the jet, but he had no idea he and Belle were leaving tonight. EJ says he can only assume it’s about the chess set that Stefano left John and Marlena. EJ asks Rita to see what she can find out about that and says as always, he’s counting on her.

Marlena tells Steve that she can’t stand that Stefano is still haunting them from beyond the grave, that Belle is insisting on following the clues, and that John isn’t there. Steve tells her that he’s sorry but he thinks Belle is doing exactly what John would’ve done.

Chad and Belle go home and toast to an interesting trip ahead. There’s a knock on the door, so Belle opens the door to find a bottle of champagne with a note revealing it’s from EJ.

Xander tells Sarah that EJ was worried that Holly had figured it out, but was relieved when she hadn’t. Sarah feels that’s an admission of guilt. Xander declares now the only question is how to prove it.

Aaron helps Arianna move her boxes in to her dorm room and jokes about how she’s going to fit it all in there. Arianna thanks him for the help and mentions that usually Gabi helps her, but that’s not happening. Aaron asks if they are still not talking. Ari mentions that Gabi is texting her nonstop but she just can’t with her still. Aaron says he understands since Gabi definitely crossed some lines, but comments that he would give anything to have his mom bothering him through texts. Arianna apologizes for not thinking while Aaron says he wasn’t trying to guilt trip her, he just really hopes they get past it. Aaron points out Holly’s decorating. Ari mentions that Holly and Sarah are out shopping for more stuff. Aaron then realizes they have the room to themselves.

Holly runs in to EJ in the town square. EJ says it’s good to see her out and about and asks how she’s doing. Holly says she’s fine all things considered. EJ asks if she’s receiving any more treatment. Holly laughs off the idea of rehab and says she wasn’t using, adding that EJ knew that since he said he believed her. EJ confirms he did and says that’s unlike Sarah, who seemed to insist that she was. EJ asks if things are better now between Holly and Sarah. Holly responds that they are fine. EJ comments that they are obviously not and asks Holly what’s wrong because she seems upset with him. Holly says that’s because she is.

Johnny sits with Chanel in the hospital as they talk about Johnny’s parents sending flowers. Chanel says they brighten up the room and help her from feeling anxious. Chanel doesn’t want to talk about her upcoming scans and just wants to talk about the fact that she delivered a healthy, beautiful baby. Johnny says seeing what she went through and how she handled it made him so damn proud of her. Chanel says she wouldn’t wish that pain on her worst enemy, but calls it empowering to know that she can go through 24 hours of child birth and labor without pain meds. Chanel declares that if she can do that, then cancer doesn’t stand a chance.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Alex is leaving Kelsey with Bonnie to babysit. Bonnie talks about her experience and says she’s so pleased to do this since she has seen far too little of her grandchild. Bonnie says that babies love her. Alex tells Kelsey to be good for Grandma Bonnie. Bonnie tells Alex not to worry about a thing. Bonnie tells Kelsey that Alex will be back in the morning while they are going to have the best time ever. Bonnie tells Alex to go enjoy his date with Stephanie and says she hopes she enjoys her surprise. Alex then exits. Bonnie sings to Kelsey which makes her smile.

Stephanie wakes up in bed with Theo.

Alex goes to Jada’s apartment and knocks on the door but there’s no answer. Alex checks his watch and then pulls out his phone. Alex texts Stephanie asking where she is and to please call him.

Stephanie tries to slip out of bed but Theo wakes up and asks if she’s going. Stephanie apologizes for waking him and thanks him again for letting her stay. Theo says she let him crash at her house, so he was just returning the favor. Stephanie then gets Alex’s text and tells Theo that he’s looking for her.

Arianna tells Aaron that they do have the room to themselves now, but she doesn’t know when Holly will be back so the thought of her walking in on them kills the vibe. Aaron tells her that he was just going to ask her if she wanted to play Xenoblade with him since Holly hates it as Ari jokes with him.

Paulina joins Johnny and Chanel in their hospital room, bringing a cake from Chanel’s bakery team. Chanel says she has the best employees and asks when Eli and Lani are bringing Trey. Paulina says they will be by later as they wanted to give her enough time to rest, so they went to the park. Paulina talks about her mom being so proud to have Olivia named after her. Paulina then sees Olivia’s middle name is Alexandra.

EJ tells Holly that he doesn’t understand as he thought they were on good terms since he stood up for her when no one else would and got Amy Choi to drop the lawsuit against her. Holly remarks that he’s very much aware but would rather play dumb.

Chanel explains to Paulina that they decided on the middle name when Theo told them about Lexie passing right at the time that she gave birth. Johnny adds that they wanted to honor Lexie for Abe and Theo. Chanel asks if Paulina is upset. Paulina claims that she isn’t while keeping her back turned. She acknowledges that they gave Trey the middle name of Paul after her and that Lexie is family to Johnny too, so she claims that she thinks it’s a wonderful choice.

Aaron hooks up his video game system as he and Arianna get close.

EJ tells Holly that he doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Holly tells him that she’s talking about him calling in Titan’s loan all at once. Holly argues that because of EJ, her grandmother is losing her home and her whole family is about to lose everything. EJ understands it’s a difficult time for her family, but points out the loan payment deadline is still days away so maybe Titan can pull off a miracle. Holly argues that he knows damn well that won’t happen and adds that they’ve already found a buyer. EJ asks who it is. Holly says she doesn’t know, but if she did, she wouldn’t tell him. EJ understands she’s upset with him about the house, but says he would hate for this situation to sour things between them since they were family once. Holly responds that they are not anymore and walks away.

Stephanie asks Theo what she’s going to say to Alex as she can’t tell him that she’s here. Theo argues that she did nothing wrong as they both had a hard day and didn’t need to be alone. Stephanie isn’t sure Alex will see it that way. Theo apologizes but Stephanie says it’s not his fault and she’s glad they could be there for each other, but maybe spending the night was a mistake. Stephanie adds that it’s 100% on her and asks Theo not to mention this to Alex if he happens to see him. Theo questions her asking him to lie. Stephanie apologizes for burdening him with her marital issues and says she should’ve just gone to her parents. Stephanie tells Theo to take care of himself, lean on his family, and not to spend the day alone as she exits.

EJ sits in the town square and calls Rita, telling her that he heard the Kiriakis family have a buyer. EJ demands Rita find out who it is so he can scuttle the deal and make sure that in the end, everything the Kiriakis family owns belongs to him.

Bonnie tries to get Kelsey to stop crying while babysitting.

Stephanie meets Alex at the Brady Pub. Alex tells her that Bonnie is watching Kelsey. Alex says he’s really sorry that it has to be this way right now as it’s killing him to be so close to her but feel so far from her. Alex promises it won’t be forever and that he will step up to make an honest effort. Alex then realizes Stephanie is still wearing the same clothes from the night before. Stephanie explains that Jada and Shawn were having a romantic night so she didn’t want to intrude to get a change of clothes. Stephanie claims that she went to her parents house, saying she had to sleep somewhere. Alex is glad that one of them got some sleep as he was up all night, worrying that he was about to lose the love of his life. Alex asks Stephanie to tell him that he’s not losing her.

Paulina guesses Theo and Abe are happy about Olivia’s middle name. Chanel confirms that Theo was as he was there when they named her. Chanel asks if Paulina has seen them since. Paulina confirms that she saw Abe and he was heartbroken. Chanel still can’t believe Abe and Theo were going through this and they had no idea. Paulina thinks only two people really knew what was going on. Chanel guesses she means Abe and Theo. Johnny interrupts and asks Paulina to refill Chanel’s water. Chanel asks why Johnny can’t do it. Paulina says Johnny doesn’t want to leave her side and says she’d be happy to do it as she exits. Chanel then questions why Johnny was trying to get rid of Paulina just now. Johnny responds that there’s something he needs to tell her about Lexie’s death.

Aaron and Arianna start to play Xenoblade on Nintendo Switch but Ari informs him that her controller is dead. Aaron says they will have to wait for it to charge. Ari calls it cute how much he loves the game. Aaron responds that he thinks she’s cute. Aaron and Ari start kissing until Holly walks in and interrupts them.

Chanel asks Johnny what about Lexie’s death. Johnny informs her that when Lexie realized the drug was failing and that she was dying, she didn’t want Abe and Theo to know about it so she convinced EJ to hide her in the DiMera Mansion. Johnny says that EJ said Lexie had been there since before Theo found her, but he felt like he had to respect Lexie’s wishes so he didn’t tell anyone, not even Chanel.

Holly questions Arianna playing Xenoblade. Holly then tells them that she just ran in to EJ in the town square and finally got the chance to get some things off her chest. Holly says she gave him hell for everything he’s put her family through, but he seemed completely unphased. Arianna says that’s EJ for you. Ari decides she should get to her DiMera internship and tells Aaron they will play Xenoblade another time. Holly questions Ari not taking her purse. Ari responds that she’s never taking a Gabi Chic purse to DiMera ever again after counterfeit gate. Holly admits that’s smart as Ari then exits. Holly comments that it looks like Aaron and Ari are in their honeymoon phase and says she always knew they’d be good together, so she’s just glad Ari finally sees it too.

Chanel says that explains the tension between Johnny and Theo yesterday. Johnny hopes she’s not upset with him. Chanel confirms that she’s not but admits it’s a lot to process. Chanel gets that they wanted to respect Lexie’s wishes. Johnny insists that if he could do it over again, he would tell everyone immediately. Chanel asks if Johnny isn’t keeping any other secrets for EJ, but before he can answer, Theo arrives. Theo says he just wanted to come check on Chanel and Olivia before he heads in to the office. Johnny decides he will head there to give Theo and Chanel time to talk. Theo thought Johnny was on paternity leave. Johnny says he technically is, but the baby came sooner than expected so he’s got some loose ends to tie up. Theo says to let him do it, so Johnny can stay by Chanel’s side. Johnny appreciates the gesture but says Theo’s mom just died, so they will work through this together. Johnny says he’ll be back soon and exits. Chanel tells Theo that she’s sure it’s a really tough time. Theo says it is and how his first thought waking up was it’s the first morning without his mom, but he had many years without her, not that it makes it any easier. Paulina returns to the room and hugs Theo, telling him that she’s so sorry as she asks how he’s holding up. Theo says he’s hanging in there. Paulina asks how Abe is. Theo responds that if she wants to see how he is, she should go talk to him and ask him herself.

Stephanie assures Alex that he’s not losing her. Alex calls that a relief and hopes she can understand why he might have had that idea after she said yesterday that they couldn’t go on like this and that it wasn’t working. They acknowledge that they both said things yesterday and apologize to each other. Stephanie says that running in to Alex unexpectedly used to make her day, but now it’s just a reminder that she has to keep her distance when he’s with Kelsey and she just lost it. Alex thinks that’s completely understandable and says last night made him realize that he needs to do a lot more to fix this, which is why he asked Bonnie to babysit Kelsey. Alex adds that when Bonnie agreed to watch Kelsey all day and night, he hoped that he and Stephanie could spend all day and night together. Stephanie says she would love that as they hug.

Bonnie continues to try to get Kelsey to stop crying, but realizes she may have a temperature.

Theo tells Paulina not to worry about what Lexie might have thought about her going to see Abe, as he knows she’d be good with it based off what she told them before she passed. Paulina asks what she said. Theo responds that Lexie said it would give her peace to know that Paulina was still in Abe’s life. Paulina really appreciates him telling her that and assures that she’ll always be there for him. Paulina then states that if Abe wants to see her, he needs to make the first move.

Holly comments to Aaron that she’s glad to see Arianna is out of her bad boy era and she’s really happy for them.

Alex and Stephanie walk through the town square as Alex informs her that he booked them a couples massage and a reservation at a restaurant in Chicago. Stephanie tells him that he planned the perfect day. Alex says he’s just happy they’re able to do it. Stephanie asks what about after dinner. Alex says he has a couple ideas, but gets a call from Bonnie. Bonnie hates to interrupt his date with Stephanie, but Kelsey has a fever and likely an ear infection. Alex says he’ll be right there and hangs up.

Johnny goes to the DiMera Enterprises office where EJ comes in and asks about Chanel and the baby. Johnny says they are doing well. EJ says he’s glad and asks about Johnny wanting to see him. Johnny thought he should know that everyone is aware he knew Lexie was being held in the tunnels. EJ assumes they also know that she was there by choice and that they were honoring her wishes. Johnny says even so, some people aren’t happy about it and adds that he also lied to Chanel about keeping other secrets for EJ. EJ asks what secrets. Johnny brings up everything going on with Kristen or how EJ covered up the whole Coriseal fiasco. Arianna walks by and hears them as Johnny asks EJ what about Holly.

Holly asks Aaron about his new roommate. Aaron says he made them a chore chart and asks if Tate is coming around today. Holly says he has clients all day. Aaron talks about it being rough not having Tate in the dorms with them or going to class with them, admitting he’s really going to miss him.

Stephanie says Bonnie must be rattled having to take care of a sick baby. Alex tells Stephanie that he’s sorry. Stephanie says it’s not Kelsey’s fault that she got an ear infection but she’s starting to wonder why the universe is so determined to keep them apart. Alex says not as determined as he is to keep them together and to get to spend some proper time together. Alex promises they will very soon. Alex and Stephanie kiss as Theo walks in to the town square and shakes his head as he sees them together.

Chanel informs Paulina that Johnny told her that he knew about Lexie and kept it from everyone, including her. Paulina doesn’t like it, even if it was what Lexie wanted. Chanel says she told Johnny that she understood but the more she thinks about it, she doesn’t like it either or the fact that Johnny’s keeping secrets for EJ.

Arianna listens in from the hallway as EJ tells Johnny that he did what he had to do to save DiMera and thought he understood that. EJ adds that he saw Holly today and she was only upset about the mansion being sold. Johnny is sure that was a big relief since EJ lives his life, constantly looking over his shoulder and watching his back. Johnny says maybe EJ likes the thrill of it, but complains that he hates it and doesn’t want to live like that. EJ argues that Johnny may have some tough decisions to make about how he’s going to support his family. EJ remarks that Holly has moved on since her only concern was that her Grandmother may have to downsize, so he suggests Johnny move on as well. Johnny asks if he’s just supposed to pretend it never happened. EJ tells Johnny to concentrate on his wife and children, who need and deserve his full attention. EJ assures that there’s nothing to worry about as Holly doesn’t know anything about it, which Arianna overhears.

EJ stands in the living room of the DiMera Mansion, looking at the portrait of Stefano. EJ declares that he did everything he could to honor his father’s wishes and for an all too brief moment, he succeeded. EJ then drinks to Lexie until Cat walks in. EJ thought she was heading home. Cat says when she saw him at the hospital, she didn’t know about Lexie and she’s so sorry. EJ thanks her. Cat understands if he needs to be alone, but says she’s there if he needs a friend.

Abe and Theo sit together at the Brady Pub. Abe thanks Theo for coming out with him. Theo says he didn’t feel like going home yet either. Abe states that Lexie wasn’t with them long, but her presence is so strong in the apartment. Theo says that’s just like it was in their lives and always will be.

Belle finds Marlena needle pointing at home. Marlena explains that she’s been told it calms the nerves. Belle asks if she’s nervous about something. Marlena says she is about a lot of things, mentioning worrying about how Abe and Theo will get along without Lexie, about Johnny and Chanel handling two kids with Chanel’s condition, how her granddaughter’s going to deal with her mother gone, and adds that she’s also worried about Belle.

Jada goes home where Shawn surprises her with wine and a candle lit dinner, calling it a warm up to what he hopes will be a perfect evening.

Alex walks through the town square with Kelsey and finds Stephanie, looking upset on the bench, and asks if she’s okay. Stephanie responds that he shouldn’t be talking to her while he has Kelsey. Alex informs her that he’s worried about her as he saw her after donating blood and she looked like she was about to pass out. Stephanie insists that she’s fine and that Theo took care of her. Alex remarks that he’s glad Theo “took care of her”. Stephanie questions the way he said that and asks if he’s accusing her of something.

Theo tells Abe that it’s strange that he lived most of his life without his mom, but not having her here now feels different. Abe agrees. Theo adds that it’s also strange how the whole world just goes on, pointing out that Chanel’s baby was born at the exact moment that Lexie passed away. Abe says it’s like she said, it’s the circle of life.

Belle questions Marlena still being worried about her trip to Italy, insisting that she and Chad will be fine. Belle adds that Chad already has the whole DiMera European security team on high alert. Marlena is glad that he’s taking precautions but says she’s never not worried when it comes to Stefano. Belle argues that Stefano would never do anything to hurt his own son or Marlena’s daughter. Marlena points out that Stefano is no longer here to know that John is not with them and that Belle has picked up the search, so whatever plan he had in place is out of his hands. Belle responds that she wouldn’t be so sure about that.

Jada asks Shawn if there’s a special occasion she forgot about. Shawn points out that there doesn’t have to be for them to have a romantic evening. Shawn says they both got the night off and she spent all that time taking care of him, so he thinks it’s time that he takes care of her. Shawn tells her that he’s just getting started as they kiss.

Cat sits with EJ and says she knows how much he loved Lexie and that he did everything he possibly could to save her life, so she wants him to know that she’s there for him and he’s not alone. EJ responds that he’s very grateful to have a friend right now and declares that she might be the only one he has left in the world. EJ doesn’t know what he would do without Cat in his life. Cat thinks he would survive. Cat asks if she can get him anything. EJ says he wasn’t going to pour another drink and invites her to join him, which she accepts. Cat asks if EJ wants to talk about what happened with Lexie. EJ responds that in short, the drug that brought her back was no longer working and when she accepted that she could no longer be saved, she returned to her family home to die. Cat questions her not wanting to be with Abe and Theo. EJ explains that she wanted to spare them from watching her die a second time. EJ says he pleaded with her to reconsider, but she insisted on keeping it a secret, but in the end, Theo figured it out and thankfully they were all able to say their final goodbyes. Cat tells EJ that she’s so sorry. EJ complains of losing Lexie all over again and knowing his part in it as Cat hugs him.

Theo shows Abe a picture of Chanel’s baby, Olivia Alexandra. They call her a miracle. Abe comments on Johnny and Chanel honoring Lexie in the perfect way and declares that for the rest of Olivia’s life, she will have a special guardian angel.

Marlena questions Belle saying that it’s out of Stefano’s hands. Belle explains that at the Verdi concert, someone handed her a program with a paper inside as another clue. Belle says that means someone knows they are on the trail and want them to follow it. Marlena wonders who. Belle feels it has to be someone close to Stefano to go through this trouble. Marlena asks if she’s thinking it’s Dr. Rolf. Belle thinks that’s a really good guess and notes that Chad did say Dr. Rolf was with Stefano in his final years. Marlena warns that Dr. Rolf is a madman and sometimes she thinks he’s more dangerous than Stefano. Belle says she knows but she almost feels like this person is trying to help them because whatever Stefano wanted them to find, they are giving the clues.

Jada admits to Shawn that she had no idea he could cook like this and that she’s impressed. Shawn says he’s happy to cook for as long as he’s staying with her. Jada hopes that will be for a very long time as they kiss.

Alex tells Stephanie that he was just surprised to see her all cuddled up with Theo the other morning, adding that Theo was also asleep shirtless on their couch the day before. Stephanie argues that was the day Alex slept at Joy’s and that she saw him all cuddled up with Joy in her hospital room. Alex argues that she had just found out she’s likely going to need surgery, so she was obviously upset. Stephanie remarks that Theo just found out his mom died if he wants to compare. Stephanie then says she doesn’t want to be petty. Stephanie says that Lexie died tonight and Chanel just had her baby, so there are a lot bigger things going on than them fighting about Theo and Joy. Alex agrees and apologizes for bringing it up. Stephanie suggests they just go their separate ways for now. Alex calls that a good idea and walks away with Kelsey.

Theo tells Abe that he’s glad he was able to tell Lexie that he loved her one more time. Abe points out that EJ almost didn’t let that happen. Theo says that even though it was Lexie’s decision, he told Johnny that what he and EJ did was wrong while Johnny said that everything he’s doing is for the good of the family. Abe questions what he meant by everything. Theo says he doesn’t know, but he knew there was something that Johnny wasn’t telling him. Abe questions Theo thinking that EJ and Johnny are hiding something from him. Theo responds that he can’t trust either of them.

EJ tells Cat that he shouldn’t be laying all of this on her. Cat says it’s okay and it’s why she came. Cat understands why EJ didn’t want to give that drug to her mom. EJ says it broke his heart to tell her no because he saw how it broke her heart, but he couldn’t in good conscience. Cat is grateful he didn’t give her false hope as that would’ve been much worse. Cat asks EJ what happens now to Dr. Rolf, his investment, and the hospital. EJ admits that he has no idea.

Marlena tells Belle that she didn’t know somebody else was involved and she promised to keep her in the loop. Belle says that’s what she is doing. Belle thinks it’s a good thing that someone is running the show. Marlena asks her to explain that. Belle explains that Dr. Rolf wouldn’t do anything that Stefano didn’t want and Stefano would never hurt his own son, so if whoever is behind it was leading them in to a trap, they would’ve called it off as soon as they found out Chad was involved. Marlena thinks she’s giving Stefano and his minions way too much credit. Belle argues if these people really wanted to hurt them, they wouldn’t need to get them to Italy do it, so they are either helping them solve Stefano’s riddle that he left or they don’t know the answers themselves.

Shawn tells Jada that he hasn’t served dessert yet. Jada responds that she is the dessert as they continue kissing until Stephanie comes in and interrupts them. Stephanie apologizes for barging in without knocking and says she’ll get out of their way. Jada says it’s okay and she doesn’t have to, but Stephanie insists and tells them to enjoy their night as she hurries back out. As she exits their apartment, she runs in to Alex as he’s finishing a call with Joy. Stephanie tries to walk away but Alex stops her and says he doesn’t like how they left things in the town square, so he asks if they can please talk somewhere. Stephanie asks where, reminding him that she’s not allowed in his apartment. Alex suggests they could use Jada’s, but Stephanie shoots it down saying that Jada’s place is not an option. Alex says he never thought things would get this difficult. Stephanie calls them impossible and declares that they can’t keep going on like this. Alex asks what she is saying. Stephanie says it’s not working for either of them. Stephanie tells Alex that he can either be there for Joy or for his wife, but he clearly can’t do both. Alex argues that this isn’t about Joy, but about his daughter. Stephanie argues that there is no separating them and storms off while Kelsey wakes up crying.

Marlena tells Belle that 25 years ago, Stefano played a similar game with her and John by sending them mementos including a sleeping beauty pillow for her and a chess set with a missing queen for John. Belle asks where it led. Marlena says she gave the mementos back to Tony and says she wanted no part of Stefano’s games. Belle says maybe that’s what this is now. Belle promises that if she and Chad encounter any danger, they’ll come home. Belle says she has to tell Chad about this. Marlena questions why it’s so important to her. Belle says she’s already told her that they cannot have Stefano’s shadow languishing over all of their lives. Belle declares that she’s doing this for her and John as she exits the house.

Abe tells Theo that he’s sorry that he still has to deal with the DiMeras. Theo acknowledges that they are his family. Abe says they won’t solve it all tonight, so they decide to head back home. Roman enters and greets them with hugs, saying he’s so sorry about Lexie. Roman calls her one of a kind. Abe says he’s glad he ran in to Roman as he wanted to talk to him about Lexie’s final wishes. Theo decides to go for a walk to get some fresh air and says he’ll meet Abe at home as he exits the Pub.

Cat tells EJ that it must be even harder to lose Lexie with his other sister missing. Cat asks if he has any idea where Kristen is. EJ snaps back of course not and then apologizes for snapping, explaining that he’s just been asked that so many times lately. Cat understands and says she didn’t mean to pry, she’s just thinking about everything his family is going through. EJ talks about losing someone making him think about his own life and choices. EJ says he’s thought about their shared history and he’s feeling regret about Lexie, Kristen, and Chad too. Cat asks if that’s because of her.

Alex sits in the town square with Kelsey and says he really thought another lap around the square would get her to fall asleep but he was wrong. Belle comes by and asks if she can help. Alex says he sure hopes so.

Abe tells Roman that he wishes there was something he could do to make it easier on Theo. Roman says all he can do is let him heal however he needs to and to be there for him. Abe says he will if he lets him, but it’s not always easy for Theo to share his feelings. Roman asks how he can make it easier for Abe. Abe informs him that Lexie wrote out her final wishes and she didn’t want a funeral, but a celebration of life at the Pub. Abe tells Roman how special he, the Pub, and his family were to Lexie. Roman tells Abe that it’s done.

Cat tells EJ that she shouldn’t have asked that as she’s sure there’s plenty of tension between he and Chad that has nothing to do with her. EJ acknowledges that he and Chad have had differences over the years, starting long before Cat came in to the picture, but admits that it doesn’t help that they swapped partners. Cat comments that Chad and Belle seem happy. EJ asks if she’s talked to Chad lately. Cat informs him that Chad came to see EJ when he was sick and mentioned that he and Belle were going to Italy.

Jada tells Shawn that she’s sorry their night didn’t go as he planned. They joke about Stephanie interrupting them. Shawn wonders if he should give Stephanie and Jada some space, so Jada questions if he’s thinking about moving out.

Belle helps Alex get Kelsey to sleep. Alex is impressed and calls her a miracle worker. Belle says she’s just an experienced mom and recalls when Claire was that age. Alex says his working theory is that Kelsey is picking up on his stress. Belle says the situation does sound stressful. Alex says having Kelsey full time and not being able to have her around Stephanie has been a nightmare. Belle says she talked to Joy about dropping her demands and thought she made progress. Alex says that she got in to it with Stephanie and then doubled down. Belle tells him that she’s really sorry. Alex thanks her.

Theo finds Stephanie in the park. Stephanie says she heard about his mom and she’s so sorry. Theo thanks her and questions why she’s crying. Stephanie claims it’s nothing compared to what he’s going through and asks if he’s okay. Theo tells her not to worry about him and asks why she’s out here alone. Stephanie responds that she doesn’t have anywhere else to go.

Shawn tells Jada that he could go back to his place and stay there while Stephanie stays with Jada. Jada insists that Shawn moving out would only make Stephanie feel worse as she would feel terribly guilty. Shawn decides she’s right and asks what to do. Jada suggests laying down ground rules, like keeping the bedroom stuff to the bedroom. Shawn agrees and jokes that’s where he does his best work. Jada suggests he show her as they head to the bedroom together.

Roman tells Abe to pick out a date for Lexie’s memorial party and he’ll take care of the rest. Abe offers to pay for it since Roman has to close the restaurant. Roman talks about Lexie’s history and says that he and Kate would be honored to do this for Abe, Theo, and Lexie.

Belle tells Alex that she understands why Joy is protective after the gun incident, but does think she’s overreacting and she understands why Stephanie feels she’s in a no win situation. Alex says he doesn’t want to hurt Stephanie but he can’t figure out a way to make the relationship work with Joy in the hospital and him as Kelsey’s primary caregiver. Belle asks about babysitters. Alex says he hasn’t even had a chance to look in to that. Belle argues that if he’s going to save his marriage, he has to make it a priority. Belle suggests Alex take Stephanie on a romantic date somewhere fun where she can have his full attention. Belle warns that if Alex takes Stephanie for granted, he could lose her.

Stephanie explains to Theo that she can’t go back to Jada’s and ruin her and Shawn’s night, while she doesn’t want to run in to Alex again. Stephanie adds that she was on her way to her parents’ house, but remembered that Kayla is out of town and she didn’t feel like explaining all of this to Steve. Theo then invites Stephanie to come home with him and tells her that she can stay as long as she needs. Stephanie points out that he just lost his mom. Theo asks what that has to do with it. Stephanie argues that he has so much more to deal with than her and her problems. Theo insists that he could benefit from having someone around. Theo says Abe is there but is grieving on his own terms, so it would be nice to have Stephanie around. Theo insists that she shouldn’t be alone, so Stephanie agrees to come home with him.

Cat asks EJ if Chad and Belle going to Italy means something to him. EJ points out that it’s Stefano’s birthplace. Cat asks if he thinks Chad is going to explore his roots. EJ brings up Chad helping Belle follow clues from a chess board that Stefano left Marlena in his will, so perhaps that’s the purpose of the visit. Cat notes that Chad didn’t mention that which EJ calls interesting. Cat says the good news is that it’s not really EJ’s problem as EJ holds Stefano’s ring on his finger.

Marlena resumes needle threading at home until she pokes her finger, causing her to flashback to Stefano sending her a sleeping beauty pillow 25 years ago and poking her finger on it.

Chad goes to the Horton house and asks Julie if he missed Paulina. Julie confirms that she just picked up Trey. Chad mentions being so happy for Johnny and Chanel. Julie feels the same, but says she’s so sorry about Lexie. Chad tells her that EJ’s miracle cure just stopped working. Chad feels bad for Abe and Theo to have her back just to lose her again. Julie says she’s holding them in her heart, where she holds Chad all the time as she hugs him.

Leo approaches Gwen in the town square as Gwen is reading about Lexie’s death. Sarah joins Brady in the town square and asks if his offer is still on the table for her and Victoria to move in with him while they try to find their own place. Brady assures that it is. Sarah asks if Tate and Rachel are okay with it. Brady insists they are and they would love to have them. Sarah says in that case, they gratefully accept. Brady offers her a private tour as they walk off together.

Gabi calls Philip and asks what the latest is on the poker game. Philip says he’s in and just has to wire the buy-in money, the five million that Gabi is giving him and he hopes she’s not having second thoughts. Gabi assures that she wants him to save Titan and asks how this all works. Philip responds that he’ll be over in a bit to explain it all, so Gabi says she’ll see him soon. Gabi hangs up as Javi comes in with tears in his eyes, so she asks him if something happened. Javi informs Gabi that Gus has moved out.

Philip joins Xander in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion and says there’s a positive feel in the air tonight and he’s full of hope. Philip then tells Xander not to sign the contract with the realtor yet.

Leo tells Gwen that he can’t even imagine what Theo and Abe are going through. Leo adds that EJ not only lost his sister but the enormous amount of money he invested in Dr. Rolf’s drug. Leo then asks if Gwen did as well.

Gabi asks Javi why Gus moved out and if they had a fight. Javi explains that Gus thinks he still has feelings for Leo. Gabi asks if he does. Javi responds that he’ll always care about Leo, but he has moved on and he loves Gus. Javi feels that Gus broke up with him so suddenly that it’s unfair. Javi asks what Gabi is thinking. Gabi responds that she’s not sure it is unfair. Gabi reminds Javi that he left Leo because he thought Leo still had feelings for Dimitri, so she asks if he can blame Gus for doing the same to him.

Xander asks if Philip forgot that EJ called in the loan for $200 million and if they don’t sell the house, it will belong to EJ when he takes control of their assets. Philip declares that he won’t, because he has another way of getting the money. Kate then enters the room, so Philip greets her and asks how Abe and Theo are doing. Kate responds that they are heartbroken, but it gave her perspective on their situation since as painful as it is to lose Titan and the house, nothing compares to losing a loved one. Xander informs Kate that Philip, suddenly full of optimism, claims they don’t have to lose Titan or the house as he can get money to save both. Kate questions how.

Julie knows Chad has had a sad day so far, so she calls in his kids. Thomas (now played by Cole Gersmeyer) and Charlotte (now played by Pippa Blaylock) excitedly run in to greet Chad, followed by Jack. Chad asks where Jennifer is. Jack informs him that she stayed in Boston as she was one of the few journalists invited to attend a conference on AI by the governor. Chad bets she’ll get a good story out of that. Julie says they made a huge plate of cookies for everyone, which Thomas says includes Jules, Carver, Eli, and Lani. Chad comments that it sounds like a packed house these days. Julie says she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Gwen can’t believe Leo is still going on about her involvement in the miracle drug. Leo assures that he is on her side, but he can’t stop thinking about what Rafe said in Alamainia about Gwen conspiring with EJ to kidnap Dimitri and use his money to buy the hospital, so that Dr. Rolf would have somewhere to work on his miracle drug. Gwen argues that Leo is just looking to use this as his next big scoop. Leo insists he wants to know the truth, not so he can report on it, but so he can help her. Leo explains that the hospital want EJ out because of his questionable business shenanigans and worries that EJ won’t hesitate to let them know she was involved too.

Gabi tells Javi that it may seem like Gus left suddenly, but he probably suspected for awhile that Javi had unresolved feelings for Leo and Javi’s reaction to Leo possibly being in danger confirmed it. Gabi advises that being honest with what your heart really wants can be hard, especially when you think you shouldn’t want it, but in the end avoidance and denial never works. Javi comments on her and Rafe being so receptive. Gabi says they’ve both learned the hard way and don’t want Javi to get hurt the same way because they love him and want him to be happy. Javi thanks her and says he just needs to sit with this for a little bit, but then decides he will go for a walk. Gabi tells Javi to find whatever the truth is, for Gus, Leo, and for himself. Gabi says she loves him as they hug and Javi thanks her as he then exits.

Kate questions Philip having a plan to get $200 million. Philip calls it a longshot, but he thinks it will work. Kate asks him to tell them what that is. Philip responds that he’d rather not because he doesn’t want to jinx it, but he’s not giving up without a fight because Victor wouldn’t expect anything less. Philip asks for one week and declares they can sign it off if he doesn’t deliver by then. Xander asks what difference it makes. Philip agrees if they are selling the house, then it doesn’t matter if they sign it today or in seven days, but if he gets the money then it makes all the difference.

Brady brings Sarah home to what will be her room at his place and tells her to feel at home. Sarah jokes about putting up Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears posters. Sarah thanks him, saying it’s so generous and knows it can be challenging having other people in his space. Brady insists that she and Victoria are not other people, but very special people, and he knows it will work because he loves her. Sarah responds that she loves him too as they kiss onto the bed.

Chad and Julie sit with Charlotte to talk about the father-daughter dance. Julie asks if there’s anything else she needs, so Charlotte asks Chad for a favor. She tells him that her friend Lily wants to go but doesn’t have a dad, so she asks if she can share Chad with her. Chad says of course and agrees to make the arrangements. Chad tells Charlotte that she has a big, beautiful heart just like her mother.

Gwen tells Leo that she can handle EJ. Leo questions that, pointing out that not long ago she was worried that EJ would try to kill her for taking the hospital from him, but now says she can handle him. Jack approaches and greets them, saying he was on his way to the Salem Inn to meet Gwen but he’s happy to see them both here. Jack thanks Leo for helping bring his daughter back safe and tells Gwen that he’s happy to see her safe and unharmed. Jack asks if he can give his daughter a hug which Gwen allows.

Brady tells Sarah that Rachel will love having her and Victoria there and that it’s obviously going to be fun for them too. Sarah says now she has to go do something that won’t be so much fun in having to tell Xander that they are moving in with Brady.

Xander questions Philip’s plan. Kate asks if it’s dangerous or illegal. Philip says no and that’s all he can say. Philip tells Kate to wish him luck and says he’s got this as he exits. Xander tells Kate that he’s skeptical too, but he understands Philip wanting to try one last time to save their father’s legacy. Kate just wishes she knew what it was. Xander says they’ll find out soon enough. Xander says he’ll call the realtor about an extension. Kate questions who the buyer even is. Xander responds that all he knows is that it’s some Italian billionaire paying cash. Kate asks what if he doesn’t agree to the extension. Xander says he will sign the contract then.

Leo calls this a family moment between Jack and Gwen, so he walks away. Gwen tells Jack that she’s surprised to see him. Jack reminds her that he wanted to work on their relationship. Gwen wasn’t sure he meant that. Jack assures that he’s committed to her. Gwen appreciates his efforts, but says they both know that as long as Jennifer is in the picture, they can’t really be one big happy family.

Chad rejoins Julie in the living room after putting the kids to sleep. Julie tells Chad that she thought it was so lovely that Charlotte wanted to share him and how she really has Abigail’s heart. Chad talks about missing them this summer. Julie tells Chad that she’s so pleased things are going well with he and Belle, but she doesn’t think he should go on the trip to Italy that they are planning.

Leo runs in to Javi at the Brady Pub. They talk about Chanel having her baby and how they can’t wait to meet her. Leo invites Javi to join his table, unless he’s getting one for he and Gus.

Kate runs in to Brady outside of the Brady Pub and says there’s something she has needed to tell him as she then apologizes.

Xander finishes a call about the extension as Sarah comes in and says it sounds like the sale is moving forward. Xander responds that all that’s left is to sign the contract and asks how her house hunting is going. Sarah says that’s what she came to talk to him about. Sarah informs Xander that she and Victoria are going to move in with Brady temporarily, pointing out that it’s only a few blocks away from Xander’s place and he has plenty of space. Sarah adds that Victoria being around Rachel and Tate will be good. Xander seems like he will be upset, but turns around and tells Sarah that he agrees that it makes sense and he’s glad they will be close by. Sarah is surprised and admits she wasn’t anticipating him being cool with it. Xander calls it the new and improved him. Sarah admits she’s very impressed.

Philip goes to see Gabi and tells her that Xander won’t sign the contract until after the poker game which he and Kate don’t know about. Philip declares that it seems Gabi is the only one who believes in him. Gabi assures that she does and asks how he secures a seat at the table. Philip says the last step is the funding and then he will book his ticket to Monte Carlo. Gabi then tells him to book two tickets because she’s going with him.

Sarah shows Xander a photo of Victoria’s dress that she got for the father-daughter dance. Xander loves it and suggests Sarah come by to take pictures of them on the dance floor if Brady doesn’t mind. Sarah assures that he doesn’t and says she’s free that whole evening, so they agree to see each other there.

Brady questions what Kate is sorry about. Kate apologizes for being unable to save Basic Black after the mess she made at Titan. Brady tells her that he’s not angry because the scenario at Titan was a perfect storm brewing for months, so he tells her not to beat herself up for it. Kate says right now, she is mending fences.

Jack tells Gwen that Jennifer is his wife, so she will always be in the picture, but she gave her blessing to their relationship. Gwen remarks that’s as long as she doesn’t have to be apart of it. Jack brings up JJ saying he spoke with her. Gwen says apparently he wants to fix things between them. Jack says that’s good and he knows JJ wants to spend some time with her, as well as Thomas, Charlotte, and himself. Jack suggests they spend some time together before he goes back to Boston. Gwen says she would like that and thanks him, so Jack says he will text her as he kisses her on the cheek and walks away.

Leo tells Javi that he’s sure Gus won’t mind if he sits with him while he waits. Javi clarifies that he’s not waiting for Gus and is just getting takeout. Leo apologizes if he hit a nerve. Javi apologizes for snapping and reveals that he and Gus are over and that Gus left. Leo says he’s sorry to hear that. Javi questions if he is. Leo says he hates to see Javi hurt and asks if he means Gus went back to Texas. Javi says he just moved out of the house, but he’s still in Salem and at the fire department. Javi clarifies that them breaking up doesn’t mean Gus has to quit his job and leave town. Javi says that Gus is still here which is fine, but Leo says it’s not.

Philip tells Gabi that he’s sorry but she can’t come with him. Gabi questions why not. Philip says this is an exclusive high stakes poker game with strict rules and one of them is that guests are not allowed. Gabi says that sounds like his problem and declares the $5 million isn’t going without her, so he can either make it work or not. Philip then reluctantly agrees to make a call.

Leo tells Javi that seeing the person you love but aren’t with anymore isn’t fine, but incredibly painful and difficult and he wouldn’t wish that ache on anyone. Leo says he’s going to get some air but Javi should stay and eat. Javi question Leo just leaving. Leo says he’s going shopping and tells Javi to feel better as he hurries out of the Pub.

Philip finishes his call and says he can’t believe it worked as he thought the guy was going to hang up on him when he said that his fiancée had to be there. Philip tells Gabi that now she’s going to have to play the part in Monte Carlo. Gabi calls it no problem and asks where her ring is.

Leo returns to Gwen in the town square. Gwen questions why he looks so glum. Leo responds that Javi and Gus are over. Gwen asks if that’s not a good thing. Leo explains that Javi is miserable and it doesn’t change anything between them. Leo asks to change the subject and asks how her talk with Jack was. Gwen says it was okay and a tad awkward, but he seems sincere about wanting a relationship with her. Leo asks what she wants. Gwen says she wants to not get burned again by someone she loves as she has major trust issues, but she’s been thinking about bringing her wall down. Gwen says that Jack is her father and all she’s ever wanted is to be connected to her family.

Julie tells Chad that she knows he and Belle think this is the only time they can go to Italy and they really want to go, but points out that his children just got home. Chad says he hates to leave them, but they said they understood that it’s important to him and that it’s the only time Belle can go, so he really wants to go with her. Jack then comes home and informs them that he had a nice chat with Gwen. Julie comments that Jennifer mentioned he was going to reach out to Gwen. Jack responds that Gwen is his daughter and they have to cherish the time they have, so he feels like he owes it to be there for her.

Brady asks Kate about moving back to the Pub. Kate reminds him that the Kiriakis Mansion is being sold. Brady says he’s sorry for everyone. Kate asks about Sarah and Victoria’s plans. Brady then reveals that they are actually moving in with him. Kate didn’t know it was that serious between he and Sarah. Brady confirms that it is and that the whole moving situation sprung up last minute and is only temporary, but they will see where it goes.

Xander tells Sarah that he updated Maggie on the house, so he knows Melissa’s recovery isn’t going well and Maggie is extending her stay. Xander says he promised they would send lots of pictures from the father-daughter dance. Sarah says she will go upstairs to start packing. Xander comments on it at least being a quick drive from Brady’s. They say goodnight to each other as Sarah then exits. Xander then pulls out a stress ball from the drawer and smashes it in his hand, showing his true frustration.
