Nikki: Well, I trust the newlyweds had a good night after all the festivities.

Victoria: Oh, yes, couldn’t have asked for anything more. But now it’s all over and everybody’s heading home.

Ashland: Saying goodbye to harrison was a lot harder than i thought it would be.

Victoria: He has grown so much and so quickly.

Ashland: Yeah, I can’t believe how excited he was to get back to his new life in milan. He seemed sincerely happy with summer and kyle.

Nikki: Well, I’m so glad they could all be here.

Victor: Well, I must say, families coming together on occasions like this makes it all worthwhile, doesn’t it?

Victoria: It was perfect, and I have you and mom to thank for that. It couldn’t have happened without you. It was such a magical time for both of us.

Ashland: Couldn’t agree more.

Victor: Now, your mother deserves the lion’s share of the praise. I just kept the wolves at bay.

Victoria: Well, from what i hear, that was no small effort.

Nikki: I’m just glad that billy and that gaines fellow were prevented from ruining your big day.

Victor: I’m gonna get some more juice. Excuse me.

Victoria: Daddy.

Victor: Yes.

Victoria: You know, I meant what I said. I appreciate everything you did to make sure that my wedding went very smoothly, but today’s a new day and I want to know the whole story.

Victor: Nothing to worry about. It’s all been handled.

Victoria: That man, he was hell-bent on getting revenge on my husband, so I need to know exactly how he was handled and if he’ll need to be handled again.

Lily: Hey. You’re awake already? What’s wrong? You didn’t sleep well?

Billy: [ Sighs ] I didn’t sleep at all. After you fell asleep, I went for a walk. And I ran into victor.

Lily: Oh, god, what happened?

Billy: Let’s just say playtime is over. Time to man the battle stations. The old man has openly declared war on me and chanccomm.

Lily: [ Sighs ]

Chloe: I can’t believe it. Sally pulled off the fashion coup of the decade.

Kevin: Congratulations. You were right to sign off on her plan. This is going to put newman media’s fashion platform on the map. Hey, lauren, michael, check the —

Lauren: I tried to warn you, chloe. Sally spectra cannot be trusted. Have you seen what she’s done now? She’s back to her old tricks, showing no loyalty to her new bosses at newman media. She cares about no one — no one but herself.

Sally: Morning.

Adam: Nothing like waking up under the beautiful tuscan sky. Hope you slept well.

Sally: Well, I got a lot more rest than I would’ve if we were to have spent the night together.

Phyllis: Oh. Wow, okay, you’re packing. You can’t wait to get out of here.

Nick: Yeah, sorry if I woke you up.

Phyllis: Uh, no. But, I mean, I’m glad you did because I guess I have to get up and pack. When are we heading out?

Nick: Yeah, uh, change of plans. I’m not going back to genoa city.

Chloe: Lauren, slow down. Exactly what have you heard?

Michael: I made the innocent mistake of showing lauren a photo someone posted from the wedding. I had no idea it would set off this firestorm.

Lauren: Yes, well, my designer designed the most beautiful wedding dress for victoria — one shoulder, with pleating. It was incredible, except that wasn’t the wedding dress that victoria walked down the aisle in. And then I start seeing all this social media buzz, and ah! Sally spectra’s name starts popping up as designer.

Kevin: Huh. Imagine that.

Lauren: And I am so sorry that you’re having to deal with this so soon in your new position, but I did warn you about that woman.

Chloe: Yes, yes, that is true, but I can’t exactly be mad at sally for this.

Lauren: You would put up with that kind of behavior from an employee?

Chloe: Well, I kind of have to put up with it because i already knew what she was planning.

Lauren: You were in on it?

Sally: Jack. I was just thanking adam for bringing me here. This crazy trip really paid off. I know you made it clear last night that you weren’t impressed, but getting victoria to wear that wedding dress was a major coup.

Jack: I don’t think that’s any of my business.

Sally: Okay, well, guess i better finish packing. I’ll be ready for our flight home whenever you are.

Adam: I hope you know that sally is and has always been just a friend.

Jack: You don’t owe me any explanation.

Adam: Well, I don’t know where things stand between you two right now, but if you’re interested, I’m not standing in your way.

Jack: Oh, that ship sailed long ago. But I get the distinct sense there’s something going on between you two, so a word of caution — stop kidding yourself. Be careful. Remember what they said about playing with fire.

Victor: Let me just say we just neutralized the threat, okay?

Victoria: Well, I guess you had no choice but to go to those lengths. I just want you to know that we both really appreciate what you did.

Victor: Well, there’s someone else you should express your gratitude to.

Victoria: I’ve already thanked mom. I know, she’s been very supportive through all of this.

Victor: No, that’s not who I’m talking about. It may surprise you to learn that adam had a lot to do with keeping this event from becoming a disaster.

Victoria: You’re right. I am surprised.

Victor: Adam saved your wedding.

Phyllis: I mean, I know you’re having issues with your family, but don’t tell me you’re moving to milan with summer and never coming back to genoa city.

Nick: No, it’s nothing like that. Of course I’ll be coming back home, you know, at some point. I’m just gonna go spend a few days in the uk with noah.

Phyllis: Okay, that sounds great.

Nick: Yeah, he needed to get to london, so I chartered us a jet.

Phyllis: So I’m going back home to genoa city by myself. Okay.

Nick: Uh, i mean, you could come with us, if you want.

Phyllis: If I want. No, it’s — it’s — it’s fine. I have to get back to work, you know? It’s really busy at the hotel, and sort of hands-on — my hands in particular.

Nick: Yeah, I can see why you got to get back home. Honestly, I’m looking forward to some extra time with noah, but I’ll be home soon, I promise.

Phyllis: What? Are we okay?

Nick: [ Sighs ] Did you know some deodorants may not last all day?

Nick: What are you talking about? Of course we’re — we’re fine. I just — you know, I got a lot to sort out in my head, and spending some time with noah, getting away from the newman steamroller that I like to call my family will do me some good.

Phyllis: Well, I agree. That’s great that you’re spending time with your son. You should do that, definitely. But as far as we go, I just felt like something has been off, even before this whole london thing.

Nick: Like what?

Phyllis: I don’t know, i can’t put my finger on it. It’s just sort of added tension between us.

[ Sighs ] Jack called me crazy for even thinking that way, but…

Nick: You talked to jack about this?

Phyllis: Yeah, I did. And he said I was wrong, and i don’t agree with him anyway, I just think that we’re at a — a place in our relationship that’s sort of… tricky, you know? Either it’s gonna go forward, it’s gonna work out, or everything is gonna fall apart.

Nick: Come on. I think you’re being too dramatic. We’re not falling apart.

Phyllis: Okay.

Nick: It’s just a complicated, frustrating couple of weeks for me. Alright, that’s not on you. Like I told my dad, no good deed goes unpunished. And it doesn’t matter how many times I’ve been through this, the lesson never seems to sink in. And this time has to be different.

Lily: Look, I’m not surprised by victor’s threat. I mean, even though adam said no battle lines are being drawn, you know, victor’s been dying to come after chanccomm.

Billy: This was different. It was like the timer’s about to go off on his ongoing game of intimidation and he’s about ready to hit the ignition button.

Lily: Okay, well, victor is the master at these kind of ploys, alright? Maybe he’s just trying to raise the threat level to throw you off your game. I mean, look, he has you so rattled, you can’t even sleep.

Billy: I’m not intimidated. Freshly motivated to be prepared. And we need to go through all the scenarios because when they come after us, we need to defend against them.

Lily: Well, I bet you’ll think twice the next time you consider bringing a blackmailer to a destination wedding. Okay, what are you looking for?

Billy: Gaines said that if we didn’t publish the video exposing ashland’s crimes, he was going to do it. And if he follows through on his threat, victoria’s honeymoon will be over before it even begins.

Adam: So, how did it feel waking up as newlyweds?

Ashland: Unbelievable. I think I’m more in love and happier today than I was before the wedding.

Victoria: I didn’t think it was possible, but I am, too.

Adam: Well, thank you again for including me.

Victor: You know, seeing the two of you put your differences aside makes me very happy.

Nikki: Well, weddings bring out the best in people.

Victoria: Adam, I understand that I owe you my gratitude.

Adam: Mm. What makes you think that?

Victoria: Well, apparently you saved my wedding.

Adam: Mm. I was just trying to fit into the family. Families look out for each other, right?

Victoria: I guess you might be right about that.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Well, look at us, we’re acting civilly and thinking of each other. What is to become of the world?

Victor: Well, maybe there’s hope for the newman family unity yet. Right, my darling?

Phyllis: You know, I want to agree with you when you talk about your family and your assessment toward your family. I want to, but you take issue with it.

Nick: Right. Uh, again, I’m sorry about that. The issue is not with you, okay? I’m just dealing with some very complex feelings about my family right now.

Phyllis: I know. I know you are. I don’t want to create drama. I don’T. I just want to help you.

Nick: Did you, uh, go to jack about that, too, you know, for advice? Did, uh — was it awkward for him at all?

Phyllis: Jack is a confidant. I mean, I trust him. He just wants me to be happy. He wants — he really wants us to be happy.

Nick: You think he’s the best person to go to?

Phyllis: Okay, well, i couldn’t find you, and I just had to vent to somebody and he was there. You know, I was outnumbered by newmans.

[ Chuckles ] No offense.

[ Knock on door ]

Noah: Hey, you two.

Nick: Hey.

Noah: Got my bags packed, ready to go. Family’s downstairs. Guess we should go say some goodbyes, yeah?

Nick: I think it’s best if we just take off.

Noah: Yeah, dad, I hate that you feel this way about victoria and grandpa, but I get where it’s coming from.

Nick: Glad you understand.

Noah: Phyllis, you gonna fly out with us?

Phyllis: Uh, no. I love london. I’d love to go, but I have to get back to the hotel.

Nick: Well, I’m definitely ready to take off.

Noah: I still want to say some goodbyes. You know, and there is someone you should at least let know that you’re leaving.

Chloe: I knew this was going to come up sooner or later. I was just hoping for later.

Lauren: You owe me an explanation, and now.

Chloe: Here’s the thing. I didn’t know that sally’s plan would actually work. Somehow she got it into her head that she could design the most perfect dress for victoria’s wedding.

Lauren: You know what the problem with that is? She had already hired my top designer for the job.

Chloe: I know, and no offense to the original dress or the designer, she just had this vision, and so she made a bold attempt to pitch her own dress. And of course, victoria wouldn’t even meet with her.

Lauren: Well, of course she wouldn’t, after what she did to summer, victoria’s niece.

Chloe: No, exactly, so sally went a little extreme and she decided to have the dress made on her own, intending to show victoria the dress before she left for the wedding, but then victoria decided to leave early for italy, so sally decided to follow her there.

Lauren: And you didn’t try and stop her?

Chloe: No, I told her that it was a bad idea, but I mean, there was just no stopping her once her mind is made up. And I guess she somehow got to victoria and convinced her to wear her design. Victoria must have just been blown away by the dress.

Michael: Oh, oh, what do you know?

Kevin: Well, look, sally’s got guts. You have to at least give her credit for that.

Michael: It’s kind of an amusing twist.

Lauren: Is it? Is it amusing? Because, you know, the part that I don’t find amusing is the fact that you’re glossing over a very salient point.

Chloe: And what point is that?

Lauren: You betrayed me.

Jack: Wow, you look as bad as I feel.

Phyllis: Oh. What’s bringing you down?

Jack: I’m just sad to be leaving this beautiful country.

Phyllis: Really? Well, this beautiful country has lost a little bit of its magic for me. Do you have room in the jabot jet? Because it looks like I’m flying solo back to genoa city.

Jack: Well, of course you’re welcome to join me on the jet, but I hope this change of travel plans doesn’t mean things got worse between you and nick. On the outside, I looked fine.

Victoria: No, I swear, I had no idea who was standing where. I just turned my back and i tossed the bouquet.

Ashland: Leslie brooks looked as if she had a hot potato in her hands.

Victoria: I thought for a minute she was gonna throw it back.

[ Laughter ]

Nikki: She was lucky that sally spectra wasn’t standing closer to her because that woman would’ve knocked her to the ground to get that bouquet.

Victor: Noah, come join us.

Noah: I’d like to, grandpa, but I actually got to get going. I just want to say goodbye to everyone.

Nikki: Oh.

Victoria: So soon?

Noah: I’m sorry, I got to get back to london, but congratulations again to both of you, really.

Ashland: Thank you.

Noah: Before I go, can I talk to you?

Nikki: Oh, yeah, sure.

Noah: I just wanted to let you know that dad and I are leaving together. He didn’t want to stir things up again by saying bye to auntie vick or grandpa.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] That makes me so sad. I wish he could patch things up.

Noah: He does want to say bye to you, though.

Nikki: Well, good, because i want to see him, too. Thank you, honey. I’ll be right back. Hold on.

Noah: So, adam, I was pleasantly surprised you didn’t wreak any of your usual havoc.

Adam: Well, sometimes havoc can be overrated. Besides, I like to keep people on their toes.

[ Knock on door ]

Nikki: Nicholas?

Nick: Hey, mom.

Nikki: Hey.

Nick: Well, I sure hope you had a good time and a very safe trip home.

Nikki: Okay, let’s not ignore the elephant in the room. I know you’re very upset with your father. I have no idea where things stand between you and victoria, but I really hate to see this rift in the family.

Nick: Yeah, me too.

Nikki: You missed the ceremony, and now noah tells me that you feel like just slipping away without saying goodbye to anybody.

Nick: Well, mom, with the way things are, it’s for the best. I can’t imagine any encounter not turning into an argument or into something negative.

Nikki: You don’t know that.

Nick: Mom, I just want victoria to have happy memories of her wedding trip, okay? There doesn’t need to be any more harsh words between us.

Nikki: What about your father?

Nick: Well, you know my issues with him. They’re nothing new. I’m just at the end of my rope with him.

Nikki: But, nicholas, you can’t just write him off.

Nick: I cannot stand the way he is constantly pitting the kids against each other. I’m over it. As far as vick is concerned, she’s made her stance, and i don’t know if we’re gonna be able to fix things. I don’t know if we’ll ever be able to do that.

Nikki: Nicholas, of course you can. I mean, we’ve been through much worse than this and have always been able to get past it.

Nick: I love your optimism, but I’m not the one you need to convince.

Lily: Nope, nothing. Nothing about gaines’ video or ashland’s past, just coverage of the wedding.

Billy: I don’t get it. I mean, it really doesn’t make any sense to me. Why would he change his mind after he threatened us to publish the story on his own? He is a man set on revenge. So much so that he gave us a ticking clock deadline.

Lily: Well, you heard what ashland said. I mean, gaines backed down.

Billy: I take anything ashland says with a grain of salt.

Lily: Okay, well, I’m just happy that we didn’t post that story, so now we can just forget about it and move on.

Billy: I’m not so sure about that. If we would’ve posted that story, at least we would’ve controlled the narrative.

Lily: Okay, well, there’s 1,000 reasons not to. One of them is that you deleted the evidence.

Billy: Oh, well, there’s a lot more evidence where that comes from, and we know that it’s true because he admitted it himself.

Lily: Okay, what about the most important reason, that you could permanently damage the relationship with the mother of your children?

Billy: I know. There is a lot to consider, and I think I need a little bit of fresh italian air. Gonna go for a walk, find some clarity on the situation.

Lily: Okay.

Sally: Safe travels.

Noah: Thanks.

Sally: Where’s phyllis, waiting in the car? Have you smushed her into one of your bags?

Nick: Phyllis is flying separately.

Sally: Oh, that’s a shame. Hopefully there’s not trouble in paradise. She didn’t dump a bucket of ice on you, too, did she?

Adam: You guys taking off? Well, safe travels. Sally and I, we’re gonna be heading out soon.

Victor: If you all don’t mind, I would like a word with nicholas alone.

Lauren: Chloe, I just cannot believe that you would condone sally doing something so underhanded. That woman has been nothing but trouble since she stepped foot in this town.

Michael: I don’t think anyone at this table can throw stones when it comes to underhanded behavior.

Lauren: Yes, yes, I know that, and some of us have lived to regret that. Sally regrets nothing.

Chloe: I hope you’re not implying that I am like sally, because I never did anything underhanded. First of all, I had no idea that victoria was going to wear the dress. I thought it was a long shot. I just assumed it was never going to happen, but it did. And I can’t say that I’m sorry for that.

Lauren: Ah, so you’re fine with her stabbing me in the back.

Chloe: [ Sighs ] Lauren, I’m trying to run a business. And of all people, I would hope that you would understand that. Victoria wearing sally’s dress could make newman media’s fashion division a household name.

Lauren: And that justifies not telling me, a trusted family member? Oh, and not to mention fenmore’s takes a hit.

Chloe: Could you please just try to see this from my side?

Lauren: [ Sighs ]

Chloe: Nothing is going to happen to your business or your legacy. Fenmore’s is already a hallowed institution, and your designer is going to make many beautiful dresses this year, but sally and I, we really, really needed this moment in the spotlight.

Lauren: You still should’ve told me what you and sally were up to.

Chloe: You’re right. You’re right, you’re right. I should’ve told you, and i messed up. And for that, I am sorry.

Lauren: You should be.

Michael: [ Clears throat ]

Chloe: I really blew it with lauren.

Kevin: Yep, you sure did.

Chloe: [ Sighs ]

Phyllis: It’s fine, just nick wanted to go back to london with noah. He wanted to spend some time with him, you know, probably get away from his family. It’s fine, there’s no crisis between us. It’s good.

Jack: Good.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Jack: Glad to hear it.

Phyllis: Yeah, and I took your advice, I didn’t look for trouble. So everything is good between us.

Jack: Well, whatever the reason, I am happy to have the company on the trip home. It was going to be a long, lonely trip back to genoa city by myself. I already miss kyle and summer and harrison and…

Phyllis: So do I.

Nick: You know what, dad? Whatever it is you want to talk about, let’s do it at home. I don’t have time right now.

Victor: Son, I don’t want to leave things like this between us, okay? I’m sure you have a few minutes.

Nick: Well, you never should have let it get this far in the first place.

Adam: Sally, will you please excuse me? I need to have a private word with my dad.

Sally: Of course.

Victor: Sit down, son.

Adam: Look, nick will come around. He’s predictable that way.

Victor: I don’t want to talk about nicholas, okay? More pressing issues to deal with.

Adam: Okay. I’m game. What’s next on the agenda?

Victor: Billy boy abbott and chanccomm. When we get back home, we’re going to mount a full-scale attack on chanccomm. We will crush it, then pick up the pieces.

Adam: Mm-hmm, I know why you want to do this.

Victor: And don’t tell me this is the wrong time.

Adam: I just hope you’ve considered the potential ramifications.

Victor: That’s why I made the decision. Billy boy abbott almost ruined this wonderful wedding. He went after ashland locke for things ashland committed a lifetime ago. Ashland is now my son-in-law, and as such, he is a member of our family. Anyone attacks him, he attacks all of us. Now, if you’re a full-fledged member of our family, you will think of a line of attack.

Adam: I know that I’ve been opposed to this battle in the past, but it’s officially over.

Victor: That’s what I wanted to hear. This time, I want billy boy to know that we’re coming after him. In fact, I’ve already warned him.

Adam: Don’t worry. You can count on me 100%.

Itchy?

[ Cellphone rings ]

Sally: Hey, did you get the photos I sent?

Chloe: Yes. Congratulations. But I didn’t need to see your photos to know what happened. There are shots of victoria in your dress all over the internet.

Sally: Oh, my god, she looked stunning. Everybody just loved it. I swear I heard the whole room collectively gasp when she made her entrance.

Chloe: I got to give it to you, it was an amazing score, and not just for you but for our platform.

Sally: Well, even the haters had to admit how gorgeous she looked, and the photos did not do it justice.

Kevin: Tell her why you called.

Chloe: Uh, sally, um… there’s something I need to talk to you about.

Sally: Can we do it when i land? I have to go right now or I risk missing my ride, but I will call you as soon as we land.

Chloe: [ Sighs ] I chickened out.

Kevin: I know.

Chloe: I just — I couldn’t do it. She had to go, and I just didn’t have the heart to bring her down to earth by telling her that lauren is out for blood.

[ Sighs ]

Lauren: Can you believe the nerve of that woman? Who does she think she is? And more importantly, who does she think that she’s messing with? She’s not gonna get away with this, and chloe — ugh! Don’t even get me started on chloe.

Michael: Alright, alright, listen to me.

[ Clears throat ] You are not doing yourself any favors by rehashing this over and over.

Lauren: So you think I’m wrong to be upset about this.

Michael: No. But maybe you’re being a little too hard on chloe. She’s ambitious. She got carried away. She lost sight of things, but i don’t think she meant to hurt you.

Lauren: I get that, I do, and that’s why eventually I will forgive her. But sally, that is a different story altogether. It has been one catastrophe after another. What is it going to take to stop her? Because this is not going to end unless somebody does something.

Adam: Well, there you go. Maybe people are warming up to your charms.

Sally: To be honest, the only person that I am interested in winning over right now… is you.

Adam: [ Breathing heavily ] Sally, I can’t do this with you. I’m sorry. I can’T. I’m not — I’m not ready for this.

Sally: Ready for what? Look, I told you that I’m looking for any sort of commitment, okay? “What happens in tuscany” sort of thing. I won’t even flirt with you when we get back to the office, i swear.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] You must be on top of the world. Ready to head back, reap the glory of your big success?

Sally: More than readY. It’s just the beginning.

Phyllis: Hey. Hey.

Nick: Hi.

Phyllis: I thought you’d left.

Nick: Yeah, I wanted us to have a proper goodbye.

Phyllis: Alright. Well, you left so abruptly, i didn’t think it really mattered.

Nick: Can you please stop worrying and overthinking this, alright? I just need a couple days to work some stuff out. It’s gonna be fine.

Phyllis: Alright. Then can we go back to the happy, carefree couple that we’ve been?

Nick: Absolutely.

Phyllis: Alright. Have a good trip with your son.

Nick: Okay.

Lily: Hey. You have to start packing. We have to get going. But where were you anyway?

Billy: I just overheard victor and adam planning all-out war against chanccomm. Lily, they’re coming after us, fast and hard.

Lily: Yeah, well, victor already told you they were doing that, so did you hear what they were planning?

Billy: Only that they’re planning on throwing the full weight of the newman family against us.

Lily: That doesn’t sound good.

Billy: There’s only one way to protect ourselves.

Lily: What?

Billy: We need to strike first, because the best defense is a massive offense.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] It really was a glorious week, wasn’t it?

Ashland: It surpassed my high expectations.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Now we get to begin a new chapter of our lives. It’s time to get back to reality and all of the challenges that come with it. I’m ready.

Ashland: I am, too. Bring on the next round of treatments. And if they don’t work, I’ll find newer and stronger courses of action. Whatever it takes, because i want — no, i need more time with you.

Victoria: I think that’s the most beautiful thing that you’ve ever said to me.

Ashland: I am determined now that nothing — nothing — will get in our way or slow us down. Together, we are an unstoppable force to be reckoned with. Get ready. My new wife and I are about to conquer the world.

[ Laughter ]

Adam: We took care of gaines. So, what is the issue now?

Nick: I came to talk to dad.

Victor: You have more negative things to say about ashland?

Nick: It’s about us, and we’re gonna talk about it right now. Alone.

Summer’s voice: Where are you? We’re about to cut the cake.

Phyllis: Hey, where are you going? The reception’s that way.

Jack: I was just gonna check on harrison.

Phyllis: Okay, you can’t fool me. I know why you’re ducking out of the party early.

Elena: I almost forgot what a great dancer you are.

Nate: Ooh, you haven’t seen anything yet.

Elena: Oh, show me more!

[ Laughs ]

Sally: [ Clears throat ]

Elena: [ Laughs ] Wow! Sorry.

Nate: We did not see you there.

Sally: It’s okay. I was just…standing…here.

Tessa: [ Crying ] I’m sorry. I’ve just laid out all my relationship issues out on you.

Noah: No, I want to listen. That’s what friends do.

Tessa: I cannot believe that you carry a handkerchief. I mean, who does that?

Noah: Figured it went with the tuxedo. I can’t help worrying about you and my sister.

Tessa: Please don’T. I mean, everything that I said about my feelings being hurt and worrying about mariah, it’S… it’s gonna be okay. We’re gonna work through it. I-I know it.

Lily: Okay, I am ready to dance — my favorite thing about weddings.

Billy: Really?

Lily: I am wondering, though, if maybe your ego’s a little bruised, and that’s why you want to avoid the party, to sulk?

Billy: Does it look like I’m sulking? No, I am celebrating the fact that I am here with you, and we are together because I love you. And if I have to take a slow spin on the dance floor in front of everyone or make an ass of myself doing the electric slide, I will do just that, just to show you how much I love you and how grateful I am that you put up with me. Lily: [ Laughs ] Okay, fine. You’re right. And we don’t need an audience.

Billy: Hmm?

Sally: I don’t know why i feel like a stick-in-the-mud chaperone. Look — far be it from me to stifle romance. I just really didn’t want to be a casualty of your passion.

Nate: So, uh, where’s your date?

Sally: Adam? Uh, he’s not my date, but he did promise to be my dance partner before he got called away on family business. I don’t know. It seems to be a thing with the newmans, and I’m not really quite sure what it means. But, anyway, I was just sitting out here, waiting for him. But I’m pretty sure now that i may have been stood up.

Phyllis: Hey, listen. I know it’s hard to be single at these kind of —

Jack: Oh, it’s not that. It’S…

Phyllis: Except it is.

Jack: Okay, you’re right. I can never lie to you. I find it annoying.

Phyllis: Really? I’m sorry about that.

Jack: It’s just been back-to-back weddings. You know, seven days of celebrating romance and perfect couples. And don’t get me wrong. I’m very happy for everyone, but it just gets to be a bit much.

Phyllis: Yeah. Is it a couple that’s annoying you, adam and sally?

Jack: No, not at all. No, I have no feelings for sally, except maybe embarrassment, the whole switcheroo with victoria’s wedding dress. Clearly, she can’t change.

Phyllis: Yeah, we agree on that. That’s for sure.

Jack: And just it’s weddings in general. It’S… yes, it gets a bit lonely when everyone’s navigating their way to the dance floor in perfect, little couples, and I’m standing there, holding my drink, talking to the minister. So, I slipped out.

Phyllis: It doesn’t have to be lonely because you have me. And I’ll be your wingman, and i can introduce you to —

Jack: My wingman? No, no, no. Thank you. No, thank you. I am sick of talking about my lack of a love life, especially with you. Now, let’s change the subject. Where’s nick?

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] Uh…I came up here to check on him. But I’m gonna head back down, down to the reception.

Jack: He’s still refusing to see victoria, to be part of the festivities?

Phyllis: It’s worse than that. He went to go talk to his father to get some things off his chest, because it’s not a newman affair without a bunch of chaos and drama.

Adam: I’m not usually amenable to being kicked out, but in this case I will leave you two alone.

Victor: Alright, son. So, what do you need to get off your chest?

Nick: Where to begin? You kept me in the dark about gaines, about what he knew and the fact that he’s actually here, trying to disrupt the wedding.

Victor: Anything else?

Nick: You know, it was not long ago that you asked me to look into ashland’s past, which I did — and very successfully, by the way. You know, I found a lot of damaging information about ashland, and for reasons I still don’t understand, nobody seems to care about that. And it worked out just great for me because now I’m the bad guy, and victoria will barely talk to me.

Victor: Mm-hmm. What else?

Nick: Why are you not on my side on this? Why did you kick me out of the loop, and you turned to adam? And I guess the two of you are squashing this secret that gaines has that is protecting ashland? Is adam your go-to guy? He’s gonna do all your dirty work? Makes me think you’re back to your old tricks, dad, you know, that you’re playing your children against each other. And for what reason? You get some kind of entertainment out of it? Or is it a test of loyalty?

Victor: [ Laughs ] You finished?

Nick: Sure.

Victor: I kept you out of the loop, son, because you are here to mend fences with your sister. Knowing how you feel about ashland, I don’t think you would be too eager to help protect your brother-in-law. Were you? Am I right about that?

Nick: [ Sighs ]

Phyllis: You know, all the sudden, I don’t want to go to the party. Let’s go drink in my room. Ah! Why don’t we do what most italians do, which is drink prosecco — do this — and then jump in a fountain?

Jack: Well, it looks like you’ve already started the prosecco, and if you want to jump in a fountain, don’t let me get in your way. In fact, I’ll hold your shoes.

Phyllis: Oh, thanks! I think I’m just too frustrated and tired over all of these misunderstandings with nick, you know, to splash around in my bare feet.

Jack: Hey, seriously, I’m sorry you guys are fighting.

Phyllis: Oh, you know, we’re not really fighting. They’re just little squabbles, you know? He won’t let me help him.

Jack: Exactly what kind of help is he resisting?

Phyllis: You know, he tells me things that are going on with his family, of course, and, you know, I give my opinion, and he gets annoyed. And then I get annoyed that he doesn’t take my advice.

Jack: You know, there is a general rule of thumb that only family can complain about family.

Phyllis: Right.

Jack: Any of us chime in, they circle the wagons, and they tell us to stop complaining about the very person they’re upset with.

Phyllis: I know. Well, see, that’s exactly what he’s doing, because he’s criticizing victoria. And then, when I chime in, and i agree with him, he tells me not to be critical.

Jack: Yeah, I think we all do that. Well, here. What would say if, for example, I said, “well, nick is being very small. That’s awful! He’s terrible.”

Phyllis: I would say stop picking on poor nick.

Jack: There. I rest my case.

Phyllis: I don’t know how to help him. I guess this is the part of the relationship where it gets tricky. We’re trying to maneuver in between all the land mines.

Noah: I really do think you and mariah can work things out. But I hate seeing you so upset. I get it. My sister, she’s been through a lot. But, you know, it’s hard for the people that are there to support, too. It’s kind of like when you have a sick relative, and you’re putting in all this effort to help them feel better, but you don’t realize the toll that it’s taken on you. I know a lot of people close to my mom felt like that when she was sick, including me.

Tessa: I mean… I do feel really guilty being upset about the whole situation, when mariah was the one that went through all the trauma. I mean, she was abducted. And then she had a baby. And then, after all of that, she had to give the baby back to the biological mom. What right do I have to be upset?

Noah: I get it. But it also must have been pretty hard when mariah asked you to have a baby right away just to help her feel better. I mean, that’s a huge decision, and it’s not one that should be made quickly or lightly.

Nate: How about we all go back to the party? And you and I could share a dance, if that’s okay with you.

Elena: Sure. Why not?

Sally: I really appreciate the offer, but the only thing worse than being alone is being a third wheel. So, really, you guys should finish your romantic evening, and, if I may suggest, you guys should take a moonlit walk through the garden.

Nate: But we don’t want to leave you alone.

Sally: No, really, go. Don’t worry about me. I’m just gonna grab a piece of the delicious cake and turn in.

Elena: Actually wouldn’t mind putting my feet in that amazing fountain.

Nate: Okay. Alright. Have a good night.

Sally: You too.

Elena: [ Quietly ] Good night.

Sally: [ Quietly ] Night.

[ Sighs ] Your loss, adam.

Nick: Yeah, I don’t like ashland, and I don’t trust him, and I probably never will. But you know what? It doesn’t matter, because victoria made her choice. She married this guy for better or worse. And it doesn’t matter what we found out about him because nobody in the family except me seems to care about that.

Victor: Son, I really am sorry you feel that way, you know? I thought this whole thing would be a happy occasion for everyone, the whole family.

Nick: Well, yeah, I mean, it’s not every day that we get to add a lying, conniving criminal into the family. Let’s raise a glass to him.

Victor: You know, I honestly thought I would do you a favor by keeping you out of the loop regarding this lowlife gaines. But suffice it to say we have taken care of things, okay? Gaines will no longer be a problem.

Nick: Yeah, well, when you talk like that, it really concerns me. When you say you have taken care of gaines, what does that mean? How did you deal with him? I just heard something amazing!

Victor: Son, let me just say that the threat that gaines posed was dealt with the utmost discretion. So, stop worrying about it.

Nick: So, just shut up, huh? It’s pretty cool of you. I mean, you made that big speech about how it’s always family first, you know? Were those just words?

Victor: You can’t possibly think that.

Nick: Then, how come when something happened, and a member of this family is threatened — and trust me, victoria is being threatened right now — instead of uniting this family, you are fracturing it apart?

Victor: And the something that happened was gaines. And it was useless billy boy abbott who put him up to it. I took care of that threat.

Nick: By shutting me out after asking me to help? But I guess that’s the way it is. No good deed goes unpunished, while it seems bad deeds are not just forgiven, they’re almost rewarded. So, every terrible thing that ashland has ever done, it’s accepted. It’s like protected at any cost. And now ashland is merged to this family in every way. You kept me in the dark about the gaines threat, while you and adam and victoria were closing ranks, and now I’m here, trying to figure out a way just how to get my sister to forgive me. I got to tell you, dad. It’s getting awfully hard to know what’s being considered right and wrong in this family.

Jack: Well, just because nick’s having issues with his family doesn’t mean he’s cutting you out. Look. Sometimes people just need to be heard. They need someone to listen and not offer to fix their problem. Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I’m guessing you’re probably not someone who can hold back her two cents.

Phyllis: You know that. What, two cents, five cents, fifty cents — it doesn’t matter. It’s just that he’s refusing to let me in.

Jack: Okay, so, back off a little bit. Give him some space. Listen to me. You’re right. Relationships are hard work. You’re not afraid of hard work. Look at all the work you’ve done on yourself. You told me you and nick were in a good place. The two of you have been happy, right?

Phyllis: I mean, is that it? Do I actually need issues and a problem in the relationship to think that it’s working? We’re the most carefree and fun and romantic that we’ve ever been. Summer’s happy. The hotel’s doing great. Everything should be fabulous. But every time I say something, it seems to create a flare-up.

Tessa: Well, I understand that it’s something that she wants, and I want to respect that. I honestly don’t think that she even really knew what she was asking of me.

Noah: I get it. Now I’m sure the two of you will make the right decision at the right time, for both of you.

Tessa: Well, enough talk about that. I want to hear you talk. I want to hear about london and not just about your work or the fabulous culture or the nightlife. No, no, I want the good stuff. I’m sure you broke a few hearts over there.

Phyllis: Maybe I’m the problem.

Jack: Wait. What does that mean?

Phyllis: Yeah, maybe I am the problem. Maybe I just need issues and drama and conflict to feel like I’m engaged in a relationship. Maybe I’m that person. Maybe I need to fight.

Jack: Wait, wait, wait. No, no, I’m not buying any of this. No, if we’re doing a little armchair psychology, I say maybe all this self-blame is just another means of self-sabotage, and I’m not gonna let you do it because I honestly believe you have changed. Yes, you were once drawn to drama — no question about it. You don’t need that anymore. And you can be perfectly happy without it.

Adam: Well, I take it your confrontation with dad didn’t go well.& You look worse than before.

Nick: What happened to gaines?

Adam: Look. Didn’t dad tell you? It’s been handled.

Nick: Yeah, I want to know what that means.

Adam: If it’s been handled, it’s been handled. That’s all that matters.

Nick: You sound like the old man now.

Adam: The two of us were just trying to keep the peace.

Nick: Right.

Adam: Okay, so, things didn’t work out with dad or victoria. You know, I’m sorry to hear that. Is there something you want me to try to do, try to mediate?

Nick: No, adam, I’ll handle it. Thank you.

Adam: Okay. But I’m serious. If there’s anything that I can do.

Nick: You must feel pretty good about your infiltration back into the core of the newman family.

Adam: I’m not infiltrating. I’m mending fences because family is actually important to me. I mean, isn’t that what we all want here?

Lily: You look like one of those marble statues in the garden.

[ Laughs ] What are you thinking?

Billy: I’m having one of those good/bad brainstorms.

Lily: Oh, no. Tell me the good.

Billy: Well, the good is that there is only one way to come out of this mess with victor and gaines that actually benefits chanccomm.

Lily: Oh, god, do I even want to hear the bad, because I feel like nothing good can come from this, from my perspective.

Billy: Ah, that’s the thing. We need a new perspective. We need to flip the story on its end.

Lily: What story?

Billy: “The life and times of jesse gaines.” Instead of making ashland the bad guy, we make jesse the bad guy — a loser, out for vengeance who has done nothing to contribute to society, who has made an entire career out of blackmailing people.

Lily: I mean, that’s probably true, but —

Billy: We got to make something out of this.

Lily: Why? Why can’t you just let it go?

Billy: Well, because I paid a duffel bag of cash for the story.

Lily: Yeah, well, you also promised victoria that you would let it go.

Billy: I did not say that we wouldn’t publish something. I simply deleted the video that gaines sent to newman/locke. They can’t get upset if the story is about gaines.

Lily: Oh, they’re gonna get more than upset.

Billy: Well, then, we’ll deal with that. It’s the only win that I can see rising from the ashes of this trip.

Lily: Wow. You can really go from love and romance to rising in the ashes in record time, can’t you?

Billy: I’m a multitasker. What can I say?

Noah: Some misfortune befell me.

Tessa: Oh, befell. Oh, using fancy words today. Are we in a charles dickens novel?

Noah: Oh, yes. Yes, I fell in love with an “artful dodger” and her band of thieves until I was saved by a barmaid with a big heart.

Tessa: Oh, well, tell me about this barmaid. Was she just beautiful?

Noah: Oh, very.

Tessa: Well, I’m assuming that it didn’t have a happy ending, because, you know, we are in a dickens novel. Well, I’m gonna remind you what you said to me earlier, which was that, “come on. It’s me you’re talking to.” You can tell me anything.

Elena: It was so nice taking a stroll around the grounds…

Nate: Mm.

Elena: …But I don’t think we should have played bocce.

Nate: [ Laughing ] Why not?

Elena: One, because we’re both a little bit tipsy. And two, because we didn’t know what we were doing.

Nate: Mm, I thought playing bocce was just like italian bowling.

Elena: Yeah, and that’s exactly how you played it. Those poor bocce balls! And did you see the way that couple was staring at you after the way you hurled that ball?

Nate: [ Laughs ] Well, at least it gave us an excuse to get lost in the garden, you know, searching for wayward bocce balls.

Elena: Ahh. Isn’t it nice to be in a different world?

Nate: It has been nice to not talk about medicine, as well.

Elena: [ Laughing ] Yeah. I’ve enjoyed having random conversations with people about everything and anything.

Nate: Mm-hmm.

Elena: In fact, I got a recommendation about a gelato place that we should try on the way back to the airport.

Nate: Mm! For sure! You know, I should actually be able to order in italian. A lot of the phrases I learned as a kid are coming back.

Elena: Mm! I’ve learned a few, too.

Nate: Hmm! Garden? Giardino.

Elena: Wedding? Nozze.

Nate: Ah. The moon?

Adam: Yes.

Sally: [ Chuckles ]

[ Clears throat ] Well, I was trying to figure out why you left me to fend for myself in a palazzo full of people who don’t like me.

Adam: Hey. I looked, and I couldn’t find you. So, I assumed you already went to bed.

Sally: You’re such a liar. You probably walked by where you left me, saw that I wasn’t there, and decided to call it a night.

Adam: Yeah, um, make yourself at home.

Sally: Well…we still haven’t officially toasted to our success.

Adam: Look. I’m sorry that I got pulled away. Here’s to your passion, talent, and determination.

Sally: And to the thousand social-media followers we are getting, thanks to the dress.

Adam: I admit. I’m impressed. You really put newman media on the fashion map with this big splash.

Sally: Yeah, well, this is just the beginning because once the international fashion magazines get a hold of it, things are really gonna take off.

Adam: Well, here’s another one, to everything going just like you said it would. It’s like you willed it to happen. I’m happy for you.

Sally: Thank you. Believe me. I have had a lot of plans that did not work out. So, the fact that this once actually did? It’s a little surreal.

Adam: Oh. You mean you weren’t as confident as you insisted you were?

Sally: No, no, no. I was confident. Just wasn’t 100% certain. And one thing didn’t exactly plan out like I had hoped. I didn’t [Sighs] Exactly win over the newman family.

Adam: What would you expect? Victoria to get up there and give a toast in your honor after the ceremony?

Sally: I mean, could she have at least released a few doves? Is that too much to ask? No, I did get a few compliments on the dress, especially from nate and elena, and I think the best man’s approval counts for something.

Adam: Well, there you go. Maybe people are warming up to your charms.

Sally: To be honest… the only person that I am interested in winning over right now… is you.

Lily: Look. I don’t know how you can do a story about gaines without the details of who he’s blackmailing and why. And if you’ve forgotten, you’ve taken the position of mr. High road.

Billy: I realize it’s gonna be difficult to tell the story of gaines without dragging ashland through the mud. But there’s got to be a way.

Lily: [ Scoffs ] I don’t like this. I don’t like when you get this obsessed.

Billy: I’m not obsessed. I’m looking for solutions.

Lily: Why can’t you just let this go? I mean, some secrets are meant to stay buried.

Billy: Yeah. Maybe.

[ Music playing in distance ]

Lily: Are they playing our song? Please come to bed. See?

Noah: She was an artist, too. And I fell pretty hard, pretty fast. We — we would stay up all night, talking about art and what it meant to be an artist. I-I never really had those kind of conversations with someone i dated before, except for you.

Tessa: Yeah, I remember, uh, a few of our all-nighters, talking about the world and life.

Noah: Yeah, it kind of felt like that. For me, at least, you know, because then she met someone else and dumped me without a second thought.

Tessa: I’m sorry. You deserve better than that.

Noah: Thanks. Hopefully, next time around, I’ll get it right.

Elena: Thank you for this incredible adventure.

Nate: And thank you for being the only person I wanted to be with tonight… and all other nights.

[ Both laugh ]

Elena: Oh, I don’t want this trip to end. What if the spell is broken?

Nate: Then we must make sure we bring a part of italy home with us through our memories.

Elena: And I will never forget you almost knocking over a marble statue off of its pedestal with a bocce ball.

Sally: Ready for what? Look. I told you that I’m not looking for any sort of commitment, okay? What happens in tuscany — that sort of thing? I won’t even flirt with you when we get back to the office. I swear.

Adam: You are such a liar. You don’t do things halfway, sally. The fact that you got victoria to wear the dress you designed? It proves it.

Sally: I’m not gonna apologize for that.

Adam: Well, I’m not asking you to. You expect me to believe if i agreed to have one night here, you’re gonna be satisfied with that?

Sally: Yes. It’s exactly what I’m saying.

Adam: You want more than a one-night stand because that is who you are, sally. And I’m just… I can’t give you what you want right now.

Sally: Because?

Adam: None of this is a reflection on you. Okay, next time that I get involved with somebody, it has to be all or nothing. And I’m just — I’m not emotionally ready for “all.” And it would be wrong and selfish of me to pretend like i was and agree to have one night here with you, when you clearly want more than to wake up and be cold and distant in the morning.

Sally: Wow! Okay, then. Really covered all the bases there. So… I can take no for an answer. But just fair warning — this just makes you look thoughtful and decent, in addition to sexy. So, joke’s on you. And I am not giving up hope that one day you will be in a better place, where you are ready for “all.” And I hope it’s with me.

Jack: I have no doubt that you and nick will work through this.

Phyllis: Well, we’ll see if that’s true.

Jack: See? There you go, underestimating yourself again.

Phyllis: [ Laughs ]

Jack: The new phyllis can handle this.

Phyllis: I hope so! Thank you.

Jack: I’m rooting for both of you. Well, especially you. Always.

Billy: Victor? Still no word from gaines. Why don’t you tell me what you did with him?

Victor: I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Billy: I’m not sure if you heard, but gaines sent me an exclusive video that would have blown up ashland’s secret to the entire world. And I did the right thing to protect victoria. I deleted it. So, why don’t you just come clean and tell me how you got rid of gaines.

Victor: You only did the right thing after doing a lot of wrong things, billy boy, and all supposedly while helping victoria. She’s none of your business anymore. And that is not changing.

Billy: Okay. So, I guess we’re done.

Victor: No, we are not done. Listen very carefully. The gloves are coming off. You find another career, another life. I will take everything you own from you.

Jack: It does my heart good to see the three of them together again.

Jack: About that, thank you for including kyle and summer. I think harrison seeing all of the adults in his life gathered together in a show of love and support for this union is a good thing.

Victoria: Just one big happy family.

Victor: Somewhere safe, where you can have a one-on-one with him.

[ Indistinct conversations ]

Adam: Hi.

Sally: You disappeared so suddenly. Is everything okay?

Adam: Oh, i was just dealing with some family issues. So, if you thought it was something more mysterious, I’m sorry to disappoint you. But I’m way more excited to talk about what you pulled off.

Sally: Yeah. I mean, it feels like a dream. I don’t want today to end.

Victoria: I know! I don’t know how sally did it, but somehow she knew exactly what I wanted.

Victoria: Well, she made a very impressive sales pitch. She told me that she had been studying me, the way that i move, my body type… the care and attention that she put into it. And, you know, she oversaw every detail of the construction of this dress. Even when I saw it in that garment bag, I just knew it was a work of art. And then when I put it on — I don’t know — it just feels like it was meant to be.

Nikki: So, you’re just gonna forget about the fact that she swapped the dresses?

Victoria: Well, what she did was unconventional, but it all worked out, didn’t it?

Nikki: I hope that doesn’t mean you approve of her deception, especially after what she did to summer.

Victoria: I don’t, and I told sally that, but I refuse to get angry about how this worked out. This dress is — it’s flawless. It’s exactly what I wanted my wedding gown to be.

Nikki: Well, that’s all that matters.

Victoria: You know, isn’t it amazing how the best things come out of the most improbable situations?

Billy: At this moment, we are the only ones in possession of gaines’ video where he outlines all of ashland’s crimes, including the evidence. The clock is ticking. If we don’t publish it within the hour, he’s gonna do it himself.

Phyllis: Okay, you’re not going to the reception. I get it. You haven’t answered any of my texts.

Nick: I got sidetracked.

Nick: You know what? It’s no big surprise. I always knew that there was more that ashland was hiding, but that’s not what has got me so fired up.

Phyllis: What has you fired up?

Nick: At some point, dad decided to kick me out of the loop and bring adam in. You know, both of them have known about gaines the entire time and they have been having security scouring the estate looking for him and they left me out of it.

Phyllis: Why would they do that?

Nick: Because this is who my father is. One minute, you’re in the inner circle, and the next, you’re completely out of it. His mood changes.

Phyllis: I mean, do you think he did it because there’s so much tension between you and victoria?

Nick: Yeah, maybe. But, damn it, is this what the newman family has become? They’re working so hard to protect this marriage, you know, and more importantly, this merger. My siblings and parents have closed ranks around this man who stole a dead kid’s identity, who probably let his best friend die in a burning car and then took a job interview that was meant for him.

Phyllis: I mean… listen, this is right in your dad and adam’s wheelhouse. I mean…

Nick: Well, locke’s latest scandal takes things to a new level. See, somehow ashland had wormed his way into the heart of this older woman, who had taken him on as a mentor. And then when she died, she didn’t leave ashland anything. So, what does he do? He forges a letter, superseding the will, making sure that he gets everything.

Phyllis: Wait a second. So, you’re telling me that his entire fortune is built on this woman’s stolen estate?

Nick: Exactly. Then when my dad finds out that gaines is in tuscany with proof of the forgery, what does he do? He does what he can to silence the man who has all the proof, protecting locke’s secret. I mean, I see what is happening, and I just don’t get it.

[ Sighs ] Ugh! Why does this man have such a tight grip on my family?

[ Door slams ]

Ashland: My connection was to the woman who mentored me, not your father. That came about from circumstance.

Gaines: And you think that excuses what you did?

Ashland: Wait, wait. What your father thought about me was not something that i sought. Camilla turned her back on me in the end, and I was betrayed. We’ve both been let down by people. All we can do now is figure out a way to move forward.

Gaines: Is that the story you tell yourself — that you made your own way?

Ashland: Look, I knew what i wanted, and I went for it. But it seems like all that you’re concerned about and interested in is taking the easy way out. [ Exhales heavily ]

Phyllis: I’m not bashing your family. Why are you saying that to me? I’m on your side. I’m always on your side. Listen, I know this kills you. I know you’re disgusted, everything that you found out in ashland’s past. I get that. And I know it creates a rift between you and your sister and that upsets you. I get it!

[ Sighs ] You are only trying to do right by victoria, just like billy.

Nick: It’s not the same as billy. Billy just wants to blow the wedding up.

Phyllis: Okay, well, ultimately you wanted the same thing! I’m not your enemy, nick. I know you’re furious, and i know you’re disgusted by the latest thing you found out on ashland.

Nick: [ Sighs ]

Phyllis: But, honestly, is victoria not an adult? Is she not a grown woman who can make her own decisions? I mean, you know I don’t like her. I hate her. But I think she’s savvy, and I — I believe she’s one of the smartest people I know. And she runs a multimillion-dollar company. Can you not let her make her own decision about this? She’s not a damsel in distress.

Nick: Yeah, I know she’s not.

Phyllis: Okay, why do you have to rescue her?

[ Sighs ] Why?! Why do you have to ride in on your horse and rescue victoria, you and all the newmans and billy?!

[ Indistinct whispering ]

Billy: Well, if it isn’t the happy groom.

Lily: Yes, it was a lovely ceremony. You and victoria looked very happy together.

Ashland: Well, he’s backed down. He’s, um, no longer in a position to expose my past. And he admitted that you were the one who brought him over here, that the two of you had a plan to reveal the information about camilla rhodes and her will.

Billy: That’s true.

Ashland: Which means that the only threat to my future, however long that may be, is from you, the one other person who knew the truth. You told victoria that you wanted her to have that information before she decided to go through with the wedding. And if you meant what you said, you should be satisfied because she knew all about my past when we said our vows. So, I’m asking you not to release that information for the sake of my son and my wife. Did you know some deodorants may not last all day?

Noah: Yeah, I can’t imagine how mariah’s ordeal has affected her.

Tessa: I mean, for weeks it was just her and bowie against the world.

Noah: And after all that, she had to hand him over to abby.

Tessa: And understandably, she’s not dealing with it very well.

Noah: Mm.

Tessa: Not being the one to soothe him when he’s crying or the one to mother him. Um, we had to…leave the chancellor house.

Noah: I’m sure it’s been difficult for you, too.

Tessa: Oh, I mean, what I’m going through is nothing compared to what mariah is going through right now.

Noah: Yeah, but you’re still entitled to have feelings about it.

Tessa: I mean, I-I’m sorry. I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining. I mean, obviously I’m just glad that mariah’s back and that she’s physically safe.

Noah: Yeah. Just give it some time. I’m sure you guys will figure how to work it out.

Tessa: Well, um…mariah seems to think that she’s found a solution that will help her heal and move on, which is for us to have a baby now.

Noah: Huh. Um [Clears throat] Is that something that you want to do or…?

Tessa: Yeah. No. Ugh. I mean, I don’t know. Um, it’s just… it’s something that we — we talked about for the future, I mean, something we would do someday, but it… it just feels wrong, to me, for this to be the reason why we have a child.

Noah: Look, I know you love my sister, alright? It took me a little while to come to terms with that. But, you know, I just want the both of you to be happy. You deserve that.

Tessa: Thank you.

Noah: I just wish there was more I can do to help. I hate seeing you upset like this.

Tessa: I really missed having you as a friend.

Noah: I still am. I always will be.

Billy: I’m not gonna do anything with the evidence that gaines gave me. This has always been about protecting victoria. And if I released the video, all it would do is further alienate her.

Ashland: Video?

Billy: Gaines sent me a video of himself describing all of your crimes, including the evidence — camilla rhodes’ original will, where she describes why she left you nothing.

Ashland: Well, if you’re not releasing it, what do you plan on doing with it?

Billy: Deleting it. Done.

Ashland: I-I’m not sure what to say other than thank you.

Billy: Let me very clear. I didn’t do it for you. The only reason why I did that is for the continued well-being of my relationship with the mother of my children.

Ashland: Well, I realize what you’re sacrificing, career-wise, by getting rid of that video. And I have to tell you — that’s quite a gift to victoria.

Billy: Well, some things are more important than my job.

Lily: Just when I think i know what you’re gonna do, you surprise me. I’m proud of you.

Nick: Look, you’re right.

Phyllis: Oh! Oh. Am I right? Am I? Which part am I right about?

Nick: All of it. I was watching the ceremony from a distance. All I wanted to do was go in there and stop the wedding and let everyone know what kind of person ashland is.

Phyllis: You stopped yourself.

Nick: Because I love my sister. I — I don’t have any right to tell her how to live her life, and neither does my father. I remember when we got back together and I hated the way they treated you. And I had to say, “it’s my life. Let me live it.”

Phyllis: I mean, you’re not comparing my past to ashland locke’s, are you? Or making it like I’m a mistake that you made?

Nick: What? No. What — what are you talking about? I’m not — I’m not making that comparison at all. Can your longwear do this?

Phyllis: I guess i misunderstood. I’m sorry. I’m glad you see my point about victoria.

Nick: Look, everyone’s got stuff in their past, you know, something about them that’s a deal-breaker to certain people in their lives. Whether or not we accept their choice is up to us.

Phyllis: Right. Well, that’s a big decision to make.

Nick: And you’re right. Vick knows what she’s doing. She is going into this marriage with both eyes open. It’s her life. She gets to live it the way she wants to.

Phyllis: I agree.

Nick: I’m still not happy with the way my dad handled things, though. I mean, he’s playing favorites. He cut me out. He turned to adam. And after I did everything i could to find the truth out about locke.

[ Glass clinking ]

Phyllis: I’m sorry. I’m sorry this is such a difficult trip for you.

Ashland: You know, this is the third time today that I’ve told myself that I’m married to the most beautiful woman on the planet.

Victoria: You make me feel beautiful.

Ashland: [ Sighs ] I just checked on the kids. They’re winding down. They’re sharing snacks, watching a movie with the nanny.

Victoria: I also looked in on them earlier. I think they’re really getting along.

Ashland: You know, katie and johnny couldn’t be more generous, the way they’ve been so accepting of harrison in their lives.

Victoria: Well, I mean, come on. Who wouldn’t love a little boy like harrison?

Ashland: You know, it really does my heart glad to have this time with kyle and summer and letting harrison see us all working together as a team.

Victoria: Um, a family.

Ashland: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, that’s — that’s a tough one for me. But it really feels like we’re all connected. That’s one of the most amazing things that’s come out of this wedding. And along with the help of some really good people, um, I was able to handle gaines.

Victoria: Well, I was hoping to never hear that name again.

Ashland: Well, I spoke with him. The situation’s been dealt with. So you don’t have to worry about him disrupting our lovely evening. I also talked to billy.

Victoria: Bad news?

Ashland: No, just the opposite. He said something that surprised me, but in a good way. He claims that he doesn’t want to risk doing permanent damage to his relationship with you. He dropped the whole gaines thing.

Victoria: And you believed him?

Ashland: Well, he seemed sincere when he said it. He deleted this video that gaines sent him right in front of me.

Victoria: That’s incredible.

Ashland: Yeah. I told him something like it was the best wedding gift he could give you.

Victoria: Does that mean that we can let everything else go and revel in the fact that you and I are husband and wife?

Ashland: [ Chuckles ] Mmm. Mmm.

Sally: Jack!

Jack: I heard about what you pulled.

Sally: I don’t know what you mean.

Jack: Switching victoria’s wedding gown for one of your designs?

Sally: [ Sighs ]

Jack: So, rather than show her your designs weeks ago in genoa city, you put her in the untenable position of choosing her wedding dress on her wedding night.

Sally: Yeah. I’ll admit it wasn’t the usual way of doing things.

Jack: I’ll say. Well, lucky for you, she liked the dress.

Sally: Okay, actually, jack, locke had nothing to do with it. I worked my tail off to create the perfect dress for her, and she looked spectacular. Everyone thought so. So, if a whole room of people could acknowledge that the dress was a showstopper, would it really kill you to say, “good job, sally?

Jack: After everything that’s happened, I don’t know why you care what I think.

Sally: [ Scoffs ] You know what? You’re right. Really shouldn’t matter at all. There you are. Let’s go have some fun. Here’s a good halloween trick.

Adam: So, what do you want to do?

Sally: Celebrate. I want to dance all night long.

Adam: Well, you certainly earned it, didn’t you?

Sally: Then let’s go.

Victor: Son.

Sally: Mr. Newman. It was a really beautiful wedding. You must be very proud.

Adam: Um, we’re heading to the reception.

Victor: That’ll have to wait, okay? You’re gonna have to tend to something.

Sally: Yeah. Family first. Duty calls.

Adam: I’ll catch up with you later. I promise.

Sally: I will hold you to that.

[ Sighs ]

[ Breathes deeply ]

Adam: So, what is going on?

Victor: Well, ashland had a conversation with gaines.

Adam: Uh-huh. And, um…?

Victor: Gaines seemed receptive to what ashland had to say, but I’m convinced gaines will continue to be a problem. And my gift to my new son-in-law will be to prevent that from happening.

Adam: Well, I told you that i would help make this day everything that victoria wanted it to be. That still stands.

Victor: I appreciate you feel that way, son.

Adam: Well, that’s what family does. They protect each other. They step up when it counts.

Nick: Dad.

Victor: Nicholas.

Nick: There some things we need to clear up.

[ Music and laughter ]

Nick: That doesn’t answer my question. And you better start talking fast, or you’re gonna have a problem.

Gaines: Okay, just relax.

Nick: This doesn’t have to get ugly, but it’s up to you.

Gaines: Look, I think you’re overreacting, and I’d appreciate you taking a step back.

Nick: Not till I get some answers. If you’re such a good friend of ashland’s, why are you acting so nervous?

Gaines: I don’t have to tell u a thing.

Nick: Nah, you’re not going anywhere.

Nick: I hate to break it to you, but I know all of ashland’s secrets.

Gaines: Oh, not this one. I promise you. Not too many people know this one. My father worked for camilla rhodes. You recognize that name, don’t you?

Nick: Yeah. That was ashland’s mentor, the woman who gave him the start in the business.

Gaines: Oh, she gave him a lot more than that, although not willingly, all thanks to a forged will after the poor old lady died.

Nick: I’m listening.

Ashland: I had decades-old walls that you helped me to knock down — because I knew my heart was safe in your hands. Because I knew I found in you my partner and soul mate. You have opened me up to a whole new way of living and shown me the power of true forgiveness.

Phyllis: Wow. It’s interesting. She forgives this guy, but she won’t forgive nick.

Ashland: You’ve brought strength to my weaknesses. Forgiveness to my past. And love to my heart. In return, I vow to bring you the world — and all the joy that we can squeeze out of it in the time we have left.

Gaines: When camilla rhodes passed away, she didn’t leave ashland a dime. So he, along with my father unfortunately, forged a letter superseding her will, leaving her entire estate to ashland.

Nick: My dad knows about this?

Gaines: Yeah. And when victor found out, he pressured me to stay silent, but billy abbott had other plans. So he flew me here to expose ashland before the ceremony could take place.

Nick: Did you confront ashland or my sister?

Gaines: Not yet.

Nick: Why not?

Gaines: ‘Cause I don’t trust billy abbott. I don’t know what he intends to do with that information. So I decided to take matters into my own hands, and I have been hiding out here, waiting for the most opportune moment to make my move. But you interrupted me before that moment came and now the marriage is under way and nothing can stop it, unless you cooperate with me and act fast to stop your sister from marrying that ruthless, dangerous man.

Victoria: I know that you want to give me credit for inspiring you to fight your illness, but I’m the one who is honored and grateful to be standing by your side, fighting it alongside of you. “In sickness and in health.” I honestly don’t think that those words could have a greater meaning to anyone but — but the meaning that the hold for us. Phyllis: So, you know, I just wanted to pass along nick’s best wishes. Um, I felt I should do that for him since he didn’t feel really welcome to come to your wedding.

Jack: Well, maybe there’s another way of looking at it. Maybe you’ve gotten things blown out of proportion. Look, he’s been to back-to-back family destination weddings, on top of all of that. That’s a lot.

Phyllis: You have a point.

Lily: I saw the look on your face when victoria was saying her vows.

Lily: Mm. Well, you joke, but I could tell that the ceremony wasn’t very easy for you.

Billy: [ Sighs ] I am happy for victoria. I just told her so.

Lily: You know, you said coming here was gonna be your way of showing that you’re over her, and I am 100% confident in what we have, but I’m also confident that if I weren’t here, you probably would have checked that text that gaines sent you.

Billy: I haven’t even looked at it yet.

Lily: Do you want to?

Billy: I want to know what happened to him, where he is and what he wants. Nothing about this trip went the way I expected…or wanted. Or maybe it went exactly the way it was meant to. Either way, I feel like the universe is trying to tell me something.

Lily: Don’t give a sleazy guy a duffel bag full of cash?

Billy: [ Chuckles ] Yep. That is true. I’ve been thinking about why i have been so determined to make sure that victoria knows about ashland’s past. I mean, of course I want to protect her. She’s the mother of my children. But I guess the truth is, there’s a part of me that wanted to prove that ashland isn’t a better man than I am. And the reason why I was so upset when I found out that she already knew the truth and she was still choosing to marry him was because I was hoping that she would judge him as harshly as I felt judged at times, which is silly because she forgave me for many, many things. And she held me accountable, as she should.

Lily: That’s very insightful of you.

Billy: [ Chuckles ]

Lily: Thank you for sharing with me.

Billy: The most important thing I felt in that whole time was just how much that I have moved on. I love you. I love what we have. And, yes, that little moment of self-awareness was not cheap. There was a lot of money in that duffel bag.

Kyle: Well, our wedding was a little more low-key, but just as special.

Summer: I agree. But I think we may be a little bit biased.

Kyle: I mean, this venue is fantastic, which is giving me ideas.

[ Sighs ] Sally’s over there all alone. No surprise. Did she really think she was gonna get into my family’s good graces by showing up as adam’s plus one?

Nikki: Now that things have calmed down a little bit, I want to hear more about the mystery of the missing wedding dress. Is it true that sally spectra had the audacity to steal your dress and substitute it with her own design at the last minute?

Victoria: Apparently so.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] “Audacity” is an understatement.

Victoria: Well, I know it took some nerve, but she worked really hard on the dress, and the truth is I’m wearing it because I preferred it to the other one.

Nikki: Well, you know what, sweetheart? You made the right choice. You look stunning.

Summer: Oh, um, yes, I agree. That dress is amazing, just like literally everything else today. Hey, by the way, which one of lauren’s designers came up with it?

Victoria: Actually, it was designed by sally spectra.

Summer: What?

Victor: May I have a moment alone with the bride?

Nikki: Oh, yes, your timing is perfect. Come on, summer.

Summer: Mm-hmm.

Nikki: I’ll tell you all about it.

Victor: [ Breathes deeply ] That was a beautiful ceremony, you know.

Victor: You consider this your official welcome to the newman family.

Ashland: Thank you, sir. I got to admit — I was sweating it a little bit, thinking that gaines might show up and disrupt things, but I guess he had other ideas.

Nick: Where the hell is security?

Adam: Why is he still smiling like that even though his plans have been ruined?

Gaines: You know I can hear you. And — I don’t know — maybe weddings just bring out the best in me.

Nick: [ Sighs ] Why is security not here yet?

Adam: Well, I didn’t call them in the first place.

Nick: Why not?

Adam: Because I made a judgment call, alright? We need to keep this situation as quiet and controlled as possible.

Nick: What does that mean? Hi. So you’re the scientist here.

Victoria: Sally?

Sally: Oh, you look stunning.

[ Sighs ] I — I know you’re probably still furious with me. The question is, how furious? If you could let me know on, like, a scale of 1 to 10.

Victoria: I can’t lie to you. The dress was a huge success. I nearly went with the one that I brought, but I’m — I’m really glad that I wore yours.

Sally: That makes me so happy, I can’t even tell you.

Victoria: Let’s just get something straight, though. I don’t agree with your methods. But in the end, I wore the gown that was perfect for this incredibly special occasion.

Sally: I know that I stepped over a line. I was just so determined. I believed in myself, and i really believed that I created the most beautiful dress for you.

Victoria: Well, I guess that there’s just one thing left to say. Thank you.

Nick: I should have known you were involved in this, obviously pulling all the strings.

Gaines: Well, not all the strings.

Adam: Hey, how many times do we have to tell you? Be quiet.

Victor: Mr. Gaines will talk to anyone who will listen. Obviously, he doesn’t know what’s good for him. Right? Now, thankfully you didn’t disturb the ceremony. But you’re still a threat to victoria and her company. And I will not allow that to happen.

Lily: Oh, I know that look. You’re reading the message that gaines sent you, right? I actually want to know what it says, so show it to me.

Billy: Gaines just offered us the scoop of the year. He sent a video of himself detailing all of ashland’s crimes, including the evidence.

Gaines: This is the letter camilla rhodes wrote to ashland locke explaining why she didn’t put him in her will. I’m gonna read it out loud so that you can hear, in her words, firsthand, why she didn’t leave him a penny of her estate.

Lily: Wow. That is huge.

Billy: [ Sighs ] If we don’t publish it within the hour, he’s gonna send it out globally.

Lily: I mean, this is all anyone would need to take locke down. So, what do we do?

[ Indistinct conversation ]

Ashland: I have never been happier than I am with you. And I never, ever dreamed that i could love someone as much as i love you. After all that we have been through the last few days…

Victoria: I love you, too. I have never been more certain about anything in my entire life. We know what this is, don’t we? We know how special this is.

Ashland: Unique in all the world.

Victoria: So, it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks or does.

Ashland: Yeah.

Victor: I thought that lily had the sense to convince you to step away in the middle of the night. Because there’s no reason in hell to be here.

Billy: You’d be bored without me. I’m going to assume that you know all about gaines and the secret he’s been keeping for all these years. How ashland locke stole a dead woman’s money to start his empire.

Victor: You don’t think i know?

Billy: The funny thing is, gaines has mysteriously disappeared. Did you have anything to do with that? Well, if you did, then I guess victoria and ashland can breathe easy. But if you didn’t, then there is a problem, because gaines is a wild card, and he has been waiting a very long time for the right moment to cause the most damage.

Nick: All right, I’ve come to terms with this. I know it’s gonna take some time. In fact, it could take a very long time, but I’m gonna make this right. I am determined to gain victoria’s trust back.

Phyllis: Oh, good. I mean, I wasn’t suggesting you shouldn’T.

Nick: Right.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Nick: So, I’m gonna take a walk, clear my head. Um… just want to say again I’m sorry, you know, that, last night, things were a little tense between us.

Phyllis: Oh. I mean, well, I wasn’t the one who was tense. You were tense. You know, I just didn’t like the way your sister was treating you.

Nick: Well, I apologize, so…

Phyllis: Okay. Well, not really. It wasn’t really like an apology. It was just sort of, like, “you know, I’m sorry, but I’m not really sorry.”

Lily: So, what’s the latest?

Billy: Well, let’s start with the good news. Johnny and katie and harrison are having a great time with the nanny that the newmans hired. That’s good.

Billy: Yeah. The bad news is, still no sign of gaines. I just ran into victor, and it’s pretty clear that he has no idea where he is, either.

Lily: Well, maybe he didn’t want to incur the wrath of victor and ashland and decided it was best to leave.

Billy: I don’t think so. Guys like gaines don’t just disappear when there’s money on the table and they’re thirsty for revenge. Either he’s hiding, biding his time, or something happened to hiM.

Victoria: Yes, it is. So, how did you spend your last evening as a single man? I woke up in the middle of the night, you were gone. Is everything okay?

Ashland: I’m fine. Yeah, it’s just a little restless. I went for a walk around the grounds.

Ashland: Immensely. This place is so serene and so beautiful, especially at night. It’s almost as beautiful as you.

Kevin: Man, summer said your last exhibition in london was great.

Noah: So you read your e-mail.

Summer: Yes. Wait. Why? Did I not respond? I’m sorry, I’m sorry.

Noah: You got a lot going on. You know, new marriage, new stepkid, new creative-director gig.

Summer: Yes, but I always find time to keep up with you and your near disasters.

Noah: All right. So, there was this piece, all right? And it had, like, a dozen moving objects, and there was all these pedestals and artifacts, and depending on which angle you looked at it from…

Summer: I did.

Noah: Ah. And I wish I had. So what I didn’t realize is that I had created a selfie disaster just waiting to happen. And it did.

Kyle: Oh, no.

Noah: Yeah, it’s day one of the show, and there’s this woman there, and she’s taking a selfie. And she’s a little bit more focused on herself than she is the priceless, irreplaceable art that’s surrounding her, and she backs up. And I’m watching the whole thing happen in slow motion, and I can see where it’s going — all of my hard work’s about to get knocked over like dominoes. It’s six months of refining and designing.

Tessa: No.

Noah: Yes. But then it stopped. You know, the whole piece is suspended. The pedestal, it doesn’t wobble. Now, we’re all just sitting there, frozen and holding our breath. And then, I see what stops it all from falling to the ground.

Kyle: Well, what was it?

Noah: This little kid wandered over to the other side of the pedestal at that exact moment…and he has his hands raised, you know, stopping the entire thing from falling down to the ground.

Tessa: Stop it. No.

Noah: No, I’m serious. He saved the whole thing. He stops the inevitable from happening. So I hired him.

Noah: Yep, right there on the spot. Yeah, it got me a lot of good press and another commission, actually.

Phyllis: Yeah. Sure. So, um, I guess I shouldn’t go, right? I mean, it’ll be weird. It’ll be weird if I don’t show up, it’ll be weird if I show up.

Phyllis: So I’m going alone. Really? I’m going to your family’s event all alone? Okay. Y-you’re going to the reception, right?

Ashland: Any sign of gaines?

Victor: No, my security team has not seen him. I have a feeling he may be out of town.

Victor: Mm-hmm. Billy boy had no more use for him once he realized that you had told everything about your past to victoria. Right? Now, if gaines were smart, he would’ve taken my money and gotten out of dodge.

Ashland: Well, I hope he has done exactly that. I’m not confident that he’s still not around somewhere. I mean, even if he has left the palazzo, it doesn’t mean he’s not a threat.

Victor: Ashland, relax, okay? We will deal with it when the time comes. Meanwhile, let’s look forward to the wedding, right? You know that nikki is helping victoria to get ready.

Ashland: Of course, yeah.

Nate: You want my advice?

Ashland: [ Chuckles ] Do I have a choice?

Nate: Rest. Conserve your energy. It’s gonna be a long day.

Ashland: When the moment comes…and I see my bride walking down the aisle, everything else will fall away. All I will see is the woman who came into my life and changed me, who accepts me and loves me exactly for who I am. And that is something that i never dreamed possible. Unconditional love.

Nikki: Oh, my goodness. With everything that’s been going on, I haven’t had time to put together something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

Victoria: Well, you don’t have to worry about that, because dad’s spectacular wedding gift encompassed all of that. I’m covered. And it’s not as if my relationship with ashland is conventional, anyways. I’ve experienced that tradition enough times, mom.

Nikki: God knows we both have. But still, you go into a marriage with hopes and dreams, no matter what’s come before. But you have a better understanding of what kind of challenges you might be facing. Ashland is complicated. I know all about loving a complicated man.

Victoria: I’m clear about what I’m going into. And about ashland, I’ve just never felt a connection like this before. I’ve never felt so loved and appreciated and — [ Sighs ] — Seen. I know that’s an overused term, but I think it fits. And I see him, too. I know it was a little bit shocking finding out about his past the way that I did. And I know that a lot of people are invested in seeing my relationship with him fail. I’ve just had to put all of that out of my head and think about what it is that I want and — and how I feel. Nikki: I-I just don’t understand. Maybe it is a mix-up and they sent you the wrong dress. What do you think of it?

Victoria: I think that it’S… it’s breathtaking. I mean, the attention to detail in the bodice, the color, the material, it’s all top-tier. But this is not my dress. What am I supposed to do?

Nikki: Try it on?

Nick: Well, I guess your big plan to get victoria to call off her wedding was an epic failure.

Billy: I made a bad bet. It didn’t pay off.

Nick: You’re not planning any last-minute fireworks, are you?

Billy: Victoria knows everything I wanted her to know about the groom, and she’s still going forward with the wedding, so I’m not gonna intervene. Do I think it’s a mistake? You’re damn right I do. And I have a feeling you agree.

Nick: What makes you say that?

Billy: ‘Cause you’re not dressed. You’re not going, are you? I know you care a lot about your sister. I appreciate that. And I think you know I do, too. And here we are, both ready to go along with victoria’s decision and accept that this is really about to happen.

Nate: I just had a private talk with ashland. This is gonna be hard for him, but I’m confident he’ll be fine.

Adam: Wow.

Sally: I hope you mean that in a strictly professional sense.

Adam: Yeah.

Sally: It’s the right dress. It’s the one that you should be wearing. It’s yours, it’s you. Look, I admire lauren, but I was floored when I saw what her designer came up with.

Victoria: It was beautiful.

Sally: Yeah, for someone else. But not for you.

Victoria: You flew to tuscany, and you — you — you switched the dresses in hopes that what — that I’m not gonna notice and that I’m gonna fall in love with this dress anyway?

Sally: Well, I mean, I would have preferred the latter, but either one would’ve been fine.

Victoria: Well, you have badly miscalculated. Obviously, you have learned absolutely nothing from the crap that you’ve pulled.

Sally: Yes. Okay. I know it was a risky move, and I know how you feel about me, but I’m not wrong about this. When you tried on the dress that lauren’s designer made, did you fall in love with it? Did you picture yourself on your wedding day? Did it spark joy? No. It didn’T. It couldn’T. Because that designer did not consider the woman who would be wearing it. I designed this dress after i studied every detail of who you are — your body type, your style, the way you move, your strength, and your elegance. And I tried to key into the core of who you are. I wanted to give you a dress that captured your elegance. And your essence. I oversaw every detail of its construction, and I honestly believe that I designed the most breathtaking dress for your important day in this incredible location.

Victoria: [ Breathes deeply ] Where’s the first dress? The original one. Did you destroy it?

Adam: Hey. How’d it go?

Billy: Look, let me explain for a second, victoria Victoria: there is absolutely nothing that you can say that would justify you trying to hurt me this way.

Billy: Okay, let me explain, okay? Obviously gaines said something to you that got you very upset, and this is not the way I wanted you to find out about his past.

Victoria: I didn’t talk to gaines. And I don’t need to talk to gaines because I know the whole story.

Billy: I highly doubt that.

Ashland: I told her everything about the real ashland locke’s death, the fraudulent inheritance, all of it.

Victoria: This is exactly what you were hoping for — to find some deep, dark secret that was just gonna blow up my entire relationship.

Lily: I think billy just wanted you to know what you were getting into.

Victoria: Oh, please give me a break. If that were true, then you would be relieved right now that ashland confided in me. But look at you. You’re a shattered mess because you’re not the one that got to drop this bomb.

Billy: No, that’s not true, vick.

Kevin: She was the dormouse! You know, cute pink nose and whiskers.

[ Laughing ] But, oh, there was this other little girl who was dressed as a sugar cube.

Kevin: No, I mean, she was, like, this giant sugar cube, okay, with this tiny little girl inside. So, she’s dancing and all of a sudden she loses her balance and she falls onto her back, okay? So, all the other kids still keep dancing, and this girl is, like, flailing her arms and legs. Oh, my gosh, we laughed.

Tessa: So… how’s london? How’s the photography going?

Noah: It’s really well, actually. It’s almost more work than I can handle.

Noah: Yeah. And I got three corporate commissions waiting for me when I get back.

Tessa: Well, here you are, making art for a living, and I’m singing for a living. I mean, how crazy is that? We can both say that we’re living the dream without being ironic.

Noah: Yeah, I hadn’t really thought about it that way, but you’re right. Although I think you may have been a little bit smarter than me in choosing which dream to pursue.

Tessa: Why would you say that? I thought you loved art.

Noah: No, I do, and I’m really happy to be in a field where I can be creative, but… you know, when people pay to hear you sing, it’s because they love your music. You know, they feel it in their soul. The art world is just… it’s just different.

Tessa: Well, how?

Noah: You know, a lot of it comes down to investment value. So there are people who buy my pieces because they intend to flip it, you know, like it’s a condo in west palm beach.

Tessa: Well, that sounds pretty cynical.

Noah: I understand the mentality. I come from a business background, but, yeah, it can be a little discouraging. You know, one time I actually had a client who offered to pay me to produce less. That way, the value in the pieces he already owned would go up. Supply and demand.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] Where were you?

Ashland: Victor and I briefed the security team, and they are on top of the situation. They will find gaines, and they will remove him.

Victoria: Well, I’m just glad that we found out what billy was up to in time to put a stop to it.

[ Inhales deeply ] I just hope that everything will go smoothly for our wedding.

Ashland: There will be no more interruptions, and that’s a promise. And by this time tomorrow, you and I… will be husband and wife.

Ashland: I’m through hiding things from you —

Victor: We are having a discussion, the kind a father has with his future son-in-law when he’s about to marry his daughter.

Victoria: Well, it’s a little late to be asking him what his intentions are, don’t you think?

Ashland: You’re right. Victor and I are determined to make sure there are no surprises, that this wedding goes off without a hitch, and that we can savor the celebration.

Victoria: Which means there’s something that needs to be dealt with that you’re not telling me.

Victor: Sweetheart, all you have to know is that I have any potential threat to you, to the wedding, or to ashland under control. I give you my word, alright? So, you two get ready. I’ll see you at the party. Goodbye, sweetheart.

Victoria: You look pale. And my father doesn’t fool me. What is this really about?

Jack: Hey!

Billy: Hey.

Jack: Look who’s here. When did you get in?

Billy: Not long ago. Hello, nikki.

Nikki: Hello, welcome. Where are lily and the kids?

Billy: Driver’s at the airport. They should be getting in any second. If you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to take care of something.

Jack: What do you think that’s about?

Nikki: Who knows? But I don’t like the sound of it.

Ashland: [ Sighs ] After you left earlier, I had a little trouble breathing.

Victoria: How bad was it?

Ashland: Well, it was really nothing. It lasted a short while. Not gonna get in the way of the festivities.

Victoria: Well, should I ask nate to come check on you?

Ashland: No, no, no, no. There’s certainly no need. Ironically enough, billy was the one who came to my rescue.

Victoria: Billy’s here? I haven’t seen him yet.

Ashland: Yeah, he’s probably laying low.

Victoria: Well [Sighs] Given that he’s been flooding my phone with messages, I assumed that he’d be banging on my door the moment that he arrived. He seems eager to confront me with his news that he thinks i need to know.

Ashland: Well, there’s nothing billy can tell you that you don’t already know.

Victoria: Well, mom told him not to come, but I’m actually glad that he did because i cannot wait to see how crushed he will be when he sees that he flew all this way for nothing.

Ashland: That’ll be very satisfying for you.

Victoria: I wonder why i haven’t seen him yet. Do you think he’s avoiding me?

Ashland: He’s probably mapping out his grand entrance or something like that. I say we don’t give the guy another thought.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] That sounds good to me.

Ashland: Right. I’m gonna finish getting ready, and then we can head downstairs and welcome all of our family and friends who came to cheer us on.

Victoria: Okay.

Phyllis: Seriously? We’re going to leave? I mean, I got this dress and — and, I mean, we should’ve just gone back home after milan.

Nick: I know, I’m sorry. I didn’t know I’d feel like this until after we arrived.

Phyllis: Alright. Okay, if you want to leave, we’ll leave. If you want to stay and keep on working on victoria, we’ll stay. I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll even keep, you know, the disparaging remarks about victoria to myself.

Nick: I’ve said everything that I can think of to sway her, and nothing’s working. Now, she said she’s not gonna kick me out, but I don’t want to be this dark cloud hanging over her wedding.

Phyllis: Alright, I’ll just do whatever you want. I mean, honestly, I’m only here because of you. We both know I wouldn’t have made the guest list otherwise.

Nick: Then let’s just leave.

Noah: I could tell how preoccupied you were at summer and kyle’s ceremony. Something wasn’t right.

Nick: Yeah. I didn’t want anyone to notice that, noah.

Nick: I just need to accept the fact that my sister’s gonna make her own decisions without my input.

Noah: So tell her that.

Nick: I have tried. Nothing works. She refuses to accept my apologies.

Noah: Wait, so you’re running away because your feelings are hurt?

Nick: I’m not running away from anything, noah, alright? I just don’t want to be somewhere where I’m not wanted.

Noah: Well, that sounds like an excuse to me. Victoria probably just needs some time. If her forgiveness is really that important to you, stick around and fight for it.

Nick: Of course it’s important. I never would’ve looked into ashland’s past if I didn’t care about her.

Noah: Alright, so it might be hard for her to see that. Big deal. You know, if you taught me one thing, it’s not to walk away from a challenge. Figure out a way to overcome and work things out. Given there was also plenty of other meaningless father-son lessons I ignored, this isn’t one of them. And I’ll be really disappointed in my old man if he doesn’t follow through on his own advice.

Victor: Well.

Nikki: How are the bride and groom? Do I need to check on them?

Victor: They’re just fine. They’ll be here shortly.

Nikki: Okay, um…

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Nikki: I saw billy a few minutes ago. He seemed skittish. That’s never a good sign.

Victor: Baby, don’t you worry, okay? I have my eye on billy boy abbott. Trust me, nothing and no one will ruin this celebration. Nothing.

Jack: There seems to be some intrigue afoot.

Nate: Yeah, we picked up on that, too.

Jack: I just hope it has nothing to do with my brother.

Elena: Well, planning such a big event has got to be stressful, and a destination wedding in italy is probably extra difficult.

Nate: I wonder if I should go check on ashland.

Leslie: Ah, and where’s the happy couple?

Victor: My goodness, leslie brooks. How nice to see you. You look beautiful.

Leslie: Oh, after traveling all day, I think not.

Nikki: No, no, my husband is right. You look sensational. We are so thrilled that you will be able to be at victoria’s wedding.

Leslie: Well, I’m pleased to make your acquaintance.

Elena: It’s so exciting to meet a famous concert pianist.

Jack: Yes, leslie is one of genoa city’s own and the least likely to ever be a celebrity.

Nikki: Ahh, but her playing. When victor and I heard you in milan last spring for my birthday, we were absolutely transported.

Victor: It was a hell of a show, if you don’t mind my saying so.

Leslie: Oh, not at all, victor. I’m flattered.

Nikki: Well, we are just thrilled that you’ll be able to play for victoria and ashland’s ceremony.

Leslie: Well, I’m honored to be included. Your daughter deserves every happiness.

Jack: Well, I will drink to that.

[ Indistinct conversation ]

Jack: Hey, hey. What’s going on? You’re sniffing around here like a bloodhound.

Billy: Just a little confused. I guess lily arrived early and she’s here, and I can’t find her anywhere.

Jack: Oh, come on, the place is big, it’s not that big. And why would lily and the kids be avoiding the one place everyone’s gathering?

Billy: You know, jack, will there ever be a day that you are not suspicious of me?

Jack: I know how you feel about this wedding. I know you have doubts about ashland. It is not that far a reach to think you might be up to something.

Billy: Oh, look at that. Lily just texted me. She is here, and she’s lost, so I guess this place is that big,after all.

Phyllis: Where’s he rushing off to?

Jack: That’s a good question.

Victoria: Hey, listen. Are you sure you’re ready for this? I mean, maybe we’ve planned too many events. We’ve got this cocktail party, the big family ceremony, and then the reception afterwards.

Ashland: I am more than ready. I can’t wait to welcome our guests to witness the happiest event of my life. Are you ready?

Victoria: I’m ready.

Ashland: [ Chuckles ]

Nikki: Here they are, everyone, the bride and the groom.

[ Applause ] Yawns “okay okay, I’m up, I’m up!”

Victoria: I am so elated to have you here.

Leslie: Oh, well, I remember you as a young girl at nikki and victor’s first wedding. What a wonderful moment this is.

Victor: We have come full circle.

Nikki: I’m going to sit here and listen.

Leslie: Yes.

Phyllis: Love the way she’s tickling the ivories. Alright. I’ll just shut up and enjoy the setting and the ambiance and the company.

Nate: [ Chuckles ]

Elena: Seems like everyone’s showing up big time for victoria and ashland.

Nate: Yeah, the bar just keeps getting higher. Luckily, I thrive on competition. And I’m starting to get inspired. Look how happy they are.

Elena: Yeah. Victor and nikki seem really happy, too.

Billy: Damn it, where are you?

Lily: I’m right here.

Billy: Hi.

Lily: Hi.

Billy: I’m sorry. I didn’t even know you arrived. You didn’t text me.

Lily: Yeah. That’s okay. Sorry, I was busy juggling the kids and luggage with minimal italian. And the staff told me they would alert you.

Billy: Yeah, well, no one told me.

Lily: Okay. Well, that’s fine. Kids are napping. They’re very cranky after the flight. And I was gonna get changed and meet you at the party.

Billy: Okay.

Lily: You seem less than excited to see me, which is very annoying given how much traveling I’ve just done.

Billy: I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I am thrilled to see you. I am, and thankful that you brought the kids with you all that way. They are going to love it here. It is actually spectacular. And I’ve missed you.

Lily: [ Chuckles ] Okay. I missed you, too.

Billy: How’s mattie?

Lily: She’s good. She’s better. I mean, even though she’s brilliant, she’s having a hard time finding people on her wavelength, but it’s alright. I wish you were there.

Billy: Yeah, me too.

Lily: Whoa, whoa, wait a second, actually. Um…if you didn’t know I was here, who were you expecting to find when you came bursting into the room?

Billy: What do you mean?

Lily: Okay, you’re all flustered. What have you done now? Are you tired of clean clothes that just don’t smell clean?

Billy: What have I done? You automatically jump to accusations.

Lily: I know how you get when one of your plans have gone awry.

Billy: Well, maybe I’m just out of sorts because I missed you and the kids so much.

Lily: No, you said that you had to fly here early to tell victoria some important information, so what was it?

Billy: I found persuasive evidence that ashland locke committed fraud. He changed camilla rhodes’ will and made himself the beneficiary.

Lily: Wow, that’s huge.

Billy: I know.

Lily: So how — how did you find this evidence?

Billy: Well, the evidence is a person. Jesse gaines.

Lily: Wait, you found him? How did you get him to tell you?

Billy: I paid him off.

Lily: How much?

Billy: A hefty sum.

Lily: How hefty?

Billy: A duffel bag full of cash.

Lily: [ Scoffs ] Ah, okay, go one.

Billy: Look, it was enough to get him to flip on ashland and tell me everything he knows about his criminal past.

Lily: And how long were you gonna keep me in the dark about this?

Billy: I couldn’t sit on it, lily. You were in california taking care of mattie, and obviously the wedding was fast approaching.

Lily: Yeah, no, I — I mean, I’ll admit, this is information that victoria needs to hear. What did she say when you showed her the evidence?

Billy: I haven’t told her yet.

Lily: Why not?

Billy: Because I lost the evidence.

Nick: I mean, I see your point. I’m still not convinced that staying’s a good option.

Noah: Alright, look. Have a drink. Get your head in the game, alright? I’m gonna go say hi to victoria. Excuse me, do you know where i can find the bride?

Victoria: Oh, my gosh, noah! Come here, give me a hug. It’s so good to see you.

Noah: It’s good to see you, too.

Victoria: I’m so glad that you were able to make the trip.

Noah: Are you kidding me? I wouldn’t miss it. You must be ashland. I’m noah newman. I’m nick and sharon’s son.

Ashland: I know exactly who you are, and it’s a pleasure to finally meet you.

Noah: Same here. You’re a lucky guy to win my aunt’s heart.

Ashland: Don’t I know it?

Noah: Excellent choice in best man, by the way. Nate, he’s — he’s done a lot for the family over the years.

Victoria: Yes, he’s been a rock for ashland, too, as he’s undergone his treatments.

Noah: Right. I hope that’s all working out. It’s your guys’ wedding celebration, so if you don’t want to talk about it right now…

Ashland: No, no, no, it’s part of our life together. In fact, it’s in our vows — “till death do us part.”

[ Laughs ]

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] My soon-to-be husband has a very warped sense of humor sometimes.

Noah: Sounds like we’ll get along just fine.

Ashland: From everything your aunt tells me, I believe you’re right.

Noah: I hope we find the time to get to know each other better. If not this trip, next time I’m home for a visit.

Ashland: Well, you never mentioned how charming your nephew was.

Noah: [ Chuckles ]

Victoria: I have to wonder where he gets that from.

Noah: Hey, don’t get mad, but I had to convince my dad to stick around.

Lily: Wait, you lost the evidence? How?

Billy: Gaines is the evidence. I need him to tell victoria because she’s not gonna believe it coming from me.

Lily: Wait a second, are you saying that you brought gaines here to tuscany? Billy, what were you thinking?

Billy: My plan was to introduce gaines to victoria discreetly, and he could tell her everything he knows about ashland and then she can make whatever choice she wants, but now gaines is missing.

Phyllis: Oh!

Summer: Hi. Hi. Where’s dad? Hi.

Victoria: Oh, look at you!

Summer: [ Chuckles ]

Ashland: Good to see you.

Victoria: Congratulations. You’re glowing.

Kyle: Oh, well, thank you.

Victoria: I wish I could’ve been there.

Summer: No, no, I get it. You were busy tying things up at work so you could take some actual time off, and I was just crazed with all the details on my end until the last second, so we just had a tiny little ceremony.

Victoria: Well, it doesn’t really matter what size it is, planning a wedding is a lot more work than you would think.

Summer: Right?

Victoria: Yes.

Summer: Well, I am just so happy that we can all be here to celebrate with you, and I am very much looking forward to being a guest and not the center of attention.

Kyle: And she’s not just talking about being a bride. Summer gets recognized on the street all the time now. We can’t go into a café in the fashion district without people checking out what she’s wearing.

Summer: No, I do not leave the house unless every hair is in place now.

[ Chuckles ]

Nick: I always knew my supergirl was gonna be a star.

Victoria: Well, it sounds very glamorous.

Ashland: Victoria and I are so thrilled that you guys are here. And most importantly, that you are taking such good care of harrison. Where is he, by the way?

Harrison: Father!

Ashland: Oh, buddy, look at you! Oh, my goodness! It’s so good to see you.

[ Laughs ] Mm. Yawns “okay okay, I’m up, I’m up!”

Summer: I’m his only friend.

Kyle: [ Laughs ]

Summer: No, it was just us.

Kyle: No, yeah. My father…

Summer: No.

Kyle: It was just us. What do you mean? What do you mean?

Summer: Just us.

[ Indistinct conversations ]

Jack: Well, looks like maybe nick and victoria have called a truce, at least.

Phyllis: Really? Wow. Nick was ready to leave earlier.

Jack: Wait, really?

Phyllis: Yeah, I mean, maybe noah convinced him to stay. He talked to him. Nick didn’t want to make the wedding uncomfortable, so… but I don’t know, maybe he changed his mind.

Jack: Well, I hope noah got through to him. I’d hate for you to have to leave already.

Nate: That was sublime, leslie, really.

Leslie: Oh, why, thank you. Thank you so much.

Elena: So I have to ask, does it ever get old, people asking you to perform when you visit?

Leslie: Oh, well, it comes with the profession. I mean, you’re doctors, so you know. I’m sure people are always asking you about their ailments, and would you refuse to give them medical expertise?

Nate: [ Chuckles ]

Elena: That is a really good point.

Leslie: Well, I believe when you have a gift, it’s your duty to share it. I mean, besides, I love to perform and I’d do anything for victor and nikki’s family. Victoria seems so happy, and your ashland’s best man, so you must know him pretty well. What do you think of him?

Nate: [ Chuckles ] Believe it or not, we didn’t meet that long ago, so I don’t know much about his past, but I’m impressed with the man I’ve gotten to know.

Leslie: Well, from what i understand, victoria and ashland are devoted to starting fresh, writing a new chapter for the rest of their lives. I’m all for that. Why look back?

Nate: I agree. What really matters is where they go from here.

Nikki: It’s so nice having noah here.

Nick: It is, isn’t it?

Nikki: He’s grown into such a talented, confident young man. He reminds me a lot of you.

Nick: It’s funny you say that. He offered me some of the same wisdom I gave him when he was growing up, you know, after i tried and failed to work things out with victoria.

Nikki: Failed? What are you talking about? You didn’t fail. You’re still here. I assumed that meant you’d worked things out.

Nick: She relented and said i could stay, but I’m not sure it’s the best idea.

Nikki: Don’t you dare tell me you’re thinking about leaving.

Nick: Let’s just see how it plays out, okay? I said my piece, I did my best to convince her that everything I did was for sake. I can’t force her to be okay with it.

Nikki: Try to be patient with your sister. That’s my sage advice.

Phyllis: I don’t know, I’m not sure about anything. But now I want to stay, if for no other reason but to spend time with my daughter now. That wedding was gorgeous. She was gorgeous. That was a beautiful, intimate affair, unlike this newman event that’s filled with fireworks and…

Jack: I thought you liked a little drama.

Phyllis: I do like drama, but not like this. It’s like I can never say the right thing to nick about his sister, ever. I’m an outsider in that family, you know that.

[ Sighs ] The way they treat each other, it’s horrific.

Jack: Listen to me. You are not an outsider, certainly not with nick.

Phyllis: Okay, you don’t have to do that, you know that, right? What can I du with less asthma?

Jack: I’m merely being supportive of nick, that’s all.

Phyllis: I know, I know. You’re so supportive of nick and so supportive of us as a couple.

Jack: And that’s a bad thing because?

Phyllis: Because stop trying to overcompensate because of what you said before. I know you’re not trying to get in between us. I know that. You have nothing to prove.

Jack: Okay, I never intended to do that. Maybe you’re right. Maybe subconsciously, I was doing that. I only want what’s best for you.

Phyllis: Ohhh, that’s exhausting.

Jack: My having your back is exhausting?

Phyllis: Yes. Stop trying to humor me. Stop trying to be so careful, you know? It’s annoying. I know, I can be annoying. That’s okay. Let’s just go back to normal.

Jack: Whatever you say.

Summer: So I saw you talking to dad. What is with the mood he’s been in? ‘Cause he seemed really weird in milan, and it seems like he still is.

Noah: He and victoria aren’t in the best place right now.

Summer: Why? What’s going on between the two of them?

Noah: Dad looked into some things she didn’t want looked into, and now she’s totally put out by him.

Summer: You know, I am so surprised that they can still fight at this stage. You know, they have to know that they’re gonna make up eventually, so why put all the energy into it?

Noah: Come on, do you think people ever really grow out of sibling rivalry?

Summer: Um, I think we did.

Noah: Yeah, I’d give us a little bit more time, but…

[ Both laugh ]

Summer: Okay.

Noah: I don’t love being away from the family, but I really don’t miss the constant drama.

Summer: Yeah, I get it. I mean, I miss everyone from back home so much, but milan is amazing and it’s chaos-free and it is a really nice change of pace.

Noah: I can tell europe agrees with you.

Summer: Well, once I got to be with kyle again, it made all the difference.

Noah: Yeah, you married old lady.

Summer: Oh, no. Two weddings in a row. They’re gonna expect you to be next.

Noah: You know, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. The settling down part, that is.

Summer: Really? Okay, because I thought that you loved being the hip artist living in london, dating all the international goddesses. What?

Noah: Come on, we both know what it’s like to have parents who can never be content with one relationship for too long. Kind of makes you feel like you can’t trust anything will last.

Summer: Yeah. Yeah, I suppose so.

Noah: Yeah, I think that’s why you realized you wanted to be with kyle for the rest of your life. The whole roller coaster thing, it starts to get old.

Summer: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, I mean, kyle and I have been through a lot of turmoil — mostly my fault, ’cause of my indecision. But, yeah, we were on and off again for such a long time until we just figured out that that’s not what we want and we wanted to be together forever.

Noah: I really admire that. Hope to have it for myself someday.

Summer: Hey, you should come for a long visit. No, seriously, I have met so many amazing women that I can introduce you to. They’re entrepreneurs, designers. I — seriously.

[ Gasps ] Oh, and then you can move to milan and we can hang out all the time!

Noah: Yeah, I have been considering a change of scenery.

Lily: You actually brought gaines here to italy? Like, what were you hoping to accomplish, some sort of theatrical newsworthy exposure of ashland right before his wedding?

Billy: No, I didn’t want this to be some big showdown, okay? And I don’t even plan on publishing the information. I simply want victoria that she’s about to marry a liar and a fraud.

Lily: Right.

Billy: She can make her own choice after that, okay? But right now…

Lily: Okay, well, you have a problem. You lost control of the narrative along with the narrator. So are you telling me that gaines is lurking around the palazzo somewhere?

Billy: I’m assuming he is. I mean, it’s a big house. I searched the property. I searched everywhere. I don’t know where he is.

Lily: Who knows, maybe he went to go explore?

Billy: I don’t think so. I thought maybe victor had something to do with it, like his security team found him, but —

Lily: No, if that were the case, victor would’ve tossed you out, too.

Billy: Yeah. Look, gaines has an axe to grind. He despises ashland. My concern right now is that he has his own plan.

Jack: Hey, look, I don’t know if I said this enough in milan, but I couldn’t be happier for how you and summer have found your way back to each other. Here you are, starting a whole new life together.

Kyle: Thank you for making this move to italy work for us. I mean, that’s not just about jabot. I know you miss your new grandson, as well.

Jack: Yeah, I miss harrison and I miss you, but I’m incredibly proud of how you and summer have stepped up for that little boy.

Kyle: Summer and I love having harrison with us. It’s been fantastic.

Jack: I’m also proud of the way you have honored the bond between harrison and the man who raised him.

Kyle: Yeah, well, after everything blew up with tara and ashland getting sick, I wasn’t sure how harrison would do. I know he misses both of them, but every morning, that kid wakes up so joyful and serene, it’s just this miracle. Harrison’s happiness always comes first. Ashland’s someone who he feels safe with and who he loves. To be able to give my boy some time with him means a lot to me.

Jack: To see the man you’ve become, the father you’ve become, makes me smile. You know what really touches my heart? That you always put your son’s happiness first.

Kyle: I learned that from you, dad. Can’t thank you enough.

[ Taps on glass ]

Victor: May I have your attention, please? I want to welcome all of you. I want to thank you for coming from far and wide to be at this momentous occasion, the wedding of my beautiful victoria to ashland locke, a man I’ve come to know and respect. As you know, ashland came to genoa city for business, and he stayed for love. Ashland and I have known each other in the world of business for a while. Knew him to be tough and ruthless, almost as ruthless as I am.

[ Laughter ] But I’m not worried about victoria. She’s a worthy adversary. As a matter of fact, in her wheeling and dealing with ashland, she discovered that he was a good match for her. They combined efforts and their business brilliance and they merged two very powerful companies and created what is really an empire. An empire I hope will continue honoring the legacy of both newman and locke. Now, not only did they merge in the boardroom, but — and this is most important to me — I saw them be very loving with each other. It means a hell of a lot to me. You know that as her father, I’ll always worry, so as her mother. For that matter, one always worries about who one’s child falls in love with. And as a father, I can tell you that one never thinks that any man is good enough for one’s daughter. But you’re a good man, ashland. I’ve learned to respect you. So, without further ado, my beautiful wife, nikki, and I — as you know, we really cherish family — want to welcome you, ashland, into our family. And all of you will vow to support this union. Ashland: That was one heck of a speech, victor. It meant a lot. Thank you very much.

Victor: Ashland, I meant every word of it, okay? Now, let’s make sure that billy boy doesn’t ruin things, okay?

Ashland: I’m gonna go look for him now and make sure he doesn’t do any more damage.

Victor: Careful.

Gaines: Ashland. Many happy returns of the day.

Elena: Whatever you have planned for your speech, I think you’re gonna have to start from scratch. Victor pretty much covered all of the material I could imagine you saying.

Nate: Actually, he didn’T. It just so happens, when we were chatting with leslie earlier, something she said inspired me to come up with my own perfect angle.

Elena: Oh, really? That sounds great. Let’s hear it.

Nate: [ Chuckles ] I’m not a traditional best man. Ashland and I are from different generations. I don’t know him from the business world. We’re not former fraternity brothers or guys who grew up in the same town together. Ashland’s a new friend. Someone I’ve come to know under extraordinary circumstances, which speaks to the kind of man he is. His character and fortitude in the face of adversity. Who’s marrying victoria, someone I do know and want the best for.

Elena: I loved it. It wasn’t stilted at all or clichéd or trite. It was heartfelt and honest, just like the man giving the speech.

Nate: Whew! That’s what I was going for.

Elena: Well, mission accomplished. Now I guess we can focus on the romance of italy, this amazing wedding.

Nate: And my amazing date.

Ashland: What the hell are you up to, gaines, and what are you and billy abbott planning?

Gaines: Oh, and spoil the surprise? No, I’d rather see you sweating for a bit.

Ashland: You smug bastard.

Gaines: That was quite a tribute the old man just gave, wasn’t it? Maybe I should walk into that fancy party and reveal to everyone how you built your empire on deceit and criminal behavior. Or maybe I’ll wait and announce it tomorrow right before the ceremony. Or maybe I’ll make you so nervous that you’ll feel like you have no other choice but to call off the wedding. Wouldn’t that be devastating for everyone?

Victoria: Ashland, you out here?

Gaines: Enjoy the rest of your evening, lovebirds.

Victoria: That was jesse gaines, wasn’t it?

Ashland: I’m gonna call security and let them handle this.

Victoria: No, don’T. I know exactly how to handle this.

Lily: If gaines is working his own angle, what do you think he’s gonna do?

Billy: I don’t know. I mean, he was very disappointed that I didn’t plan on interrupting the wedding.

Lily: Okay, you cannot let him wreck the ceremony.

Jack: Hey!

Phyllis: Hey! Hi. Isn’t this gorgeous?

Jack: I could not agree more. Milan was wonderful in its own way, you know, the shops, the fashions, the restaurants, the art and culture. But, wow, everywhere you look in this place, it is gorgeous. The newmans have outdone themselves.

Phyllis: Yeah. Well, the palazzo’s beautiful.

Jack: So, I came to drop off this bag you left in the jet. My pilot had it messengered over.

Phyllis: Ahh. I thought I lost this. Great. Ah! I’m wearing it to the cocktail party.

Jack: I somehow doubt you were lacking in wardrobe choices.

Phyllis: [ Laughs ] I have about a dozen dresses that I brought.

Jack: [ Chuckles ]

Phyllis: But I got this one special. I’m supporting my daughter’s flourishing career.

Jack: Of course you are. And you’ll look absolutely stunning in it. I have no doubt. So, where’s nick?

Phyllis: Uh, he’s taking the bull by the horns right now. I mean, we’re here against victoria’s explicit directions not to come. Let’s hope, uh — let’s hope it’s worth it.

[ Indistinct conversations ]

Victor: Hey, my boy.

Nick: This place looks great.

Victor: Doesn’t it?

Nick: Hey, mom.

Nikki: Nicholas, oh, you’re here! I’m so glad.

Nick: Hey, dad.

Nikki: Does that mean that victoria changed her mind about having you at the wedding?

Nick: Uh, afraid not. But I’m not gonna give up. I wanted to talk to you two first to see if you could give me a read on vick before i approach her myself.

Victor: Hmm.

Nick: You think there’s any chance I can repair things before she says “I do”?

Nate: [ Sighs heavily ]

Elena: Huh. So, this is what you’re up to. We have this whole palatial estate to explore, and yet you’re here staring at your tablet screen.

Nate: I want to spend time with you. Really, I do.

Elena: But?

Nate: I’m having trouble coming up with my best man toast.

Elena: Ah.

Nate: I am no speechwriter. I don’t want it to sound stilted. It needs to be smooth, warm, and brilliant, you know? Something worthy of the power couple.

Elena: I can completely understand why you’re having a difficult time. You haven’t known ashland for very long. So you don’t have any old embarrassing stories or funny anecdotes to share.

Nate: Yeah, you’re not making this any easier.

Elena: That just means I will have to find a way to help. Come with me.

Nate: Where?

Elena: To find some romantic inspiration.

Victoria: Some of our guests have already checked in, and the rest are gonna be arriving right on time. So it looks like everything is set.

Ashland: Is it, though?

Victoria: Well, I don’t have anything left on my to-do list.

Ashland: Oh, that’s not what I meant. I have no doubt that all the arrangements will be in order. I’m more concerned about your heart. Now that you have time to let everything I’ve told you sink in, are you really, truly all-in for the wedding tomorrow? I just don’t want you to go through with the marriage if your main motivation is for some precaution to save our company.

Gaines: Wow. This place is something else. Maybe I’ll use some of my payoff cash to buy myself a little palazzo like this one.

Billy: We’re not here for a shopping spree, okay? So just slow down. We got a job to do.

Gaines: And I, for one, am ready to do my part. I have been waiting a long time for this — the well-deserved and ultimate downfall of ashland locke. So, how do you see it playing out?

Billy: Very carefully.

Gaines: You know, I was hoping for something dramatic, like humiliating him while he’s standing on the altar, waiting for his precious bride. Hi. So you’re the scientist here.

Billy: I understand you’re starting to taste your revenge against ashland, but we are not looking for pyrotechnics here.

Gaines: What’s wrong with a little fireworks? Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. The more painful and embarrassing the reveal, the better.

Gaines: So, what’s your plan?

Billy: Hopefully I can convince victoria to speak with me alone. I’ll bring her back the suite, and you can fill her in with all the details. I want to give her a little bit of space and some privacy with no distractions or interruptions so she can come to her own conclusion, which I’m hoping is calling the whole thing off.

Gaines: Well, as long as the outcome is the same — locke humiliated on his big wedding day.

Billy: I’m gonna go find victoria. You wait here. Sit tight. Don’t go exploring. Don’t go showing your face. If anybody sees you, it could blow the whole thing up.

[ Door closes ]

Victoria: Trust me, ashland. One way or another, newman/locke will be safe.

Ashland: Uh-oh. I know that look. Now, what does my beautiful bride have up her sleeve? ‘Cause it sounds like you have some kind of a plan to protect the company.

Victoria: All I want to focus on right now is the love that we have for each other and our wedding. And I think everything else can wait.

Ashland: It means so much to me that you are still standing by me despite everything you now know.

Victoria: You know, I keep thinking about your childhood, picturing that anxious teen boy having to make those life-changing decisions all on his own, running away from an abusive home, leaving everything and everyone behind, and then losing the one friend that you had in the whole world in a car accident.

Ashland: Mm.

Victoria: Worst of all, you felt like your mentor, the women who meant more to you than your own mother — you felt like she betrayed you on her deathbed. The story — it just haunts me. It really does. So I can see how, even when you became the formidable ashland locke, that it followed you around everywhere.

Ashland: Yeah. That’s exactly how it felt. Hovering over me all the time like a dark cloud. And you do understand.

Victoria: Yes, I do. And I have come to terms with why you didn’t tell me. I — I know that you didn’t want to taint the beautiful relationship that we were building.

[ Sighs ] But now that it has, I just want you to know something. It’s okay. We’re okay. And you’re gonna have to trust me now. And by this time tomorrow, you and I are gonna be husband and wife. And nothing is gonna stop that now. Nothing is gonna stop that now.

Jack: You don’t have to worry about nick. He knows how to handle victoria. I’m just hopeful that she changes her mind and asks him to stay for the ceremony. She knows it wouldn’t be the same without her brother there.

Phyllis: You know, they’ve had so many arguments. So many. But this has gotten really out of control.

Jack: She’s loyal to the man she loves, just the same way he defended you to her over the years.

Phyllis: Well, that’s for sure. When she went after the grand phoenix, he saved my hotel. I will support him.

Jack: Okay, I just want you to know — you are the last person to convince victoria to change her mind.

Phyllis: Oh, I know that. How about you? She’s already respected you.

Jack: I am not getting in the middle of this. They are gonna have to work this all out themselves.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] I wish she would just listen to him. It’s so crazy that she’s not doing that. Honestly.

[ Sighs ] You know what? They’ll work this out. They always do.

Jack: It is the beauty of family.

Phyllis: She can’t keep on holding this against him. He was just trying to help her.

Jack: I’m sure he feels justified in his actions. Look, at least now he realizes that it’s time to let go and accept the inevitability of this wedding, unlike some people we know.

Phyllis: Who? Billy?

Jack: Do not ask me to enumerate the number of times i have told billy to let victoria live her life.

Phyllis: Okay, I won’t ask you. Ah, I do respect how nick will go above and beyond for someone he loves. I do respect that. But sometimes talking nice is not the right way to go, and i am afraid that’s what he’s trying to do right now.

Nikki: Darling, you know how much we want to see you and victoria work things out. We’re just not sure how receptive she will be to your surprise appearance.

Nick: I can’t stay away, alright? It’s vick’s wedding day and i want to be here and I need to make my case to her in person.

Nikki: And I agree with you. It’s just that she’s dealing with so much prenuptial stress as it is.

Victor: Son, a lot of this was brought on by you digging into ashland’s past.

Nick: Right. Do I need to remind you that we were both investigating locke?

Victor: No, you don’T. The difference is I didn’t go to new jersey to dig up old skeletons.

Nick: I will accept responsibility for what I’ve done. I was trying to get the truth, but the only thing I want to do now is make things easier on my sister. Vick and I have been in lots of fights over the years. We always find a way to make it work. Are you telling me that we can’t do it this time?

Victor: All I’m telling you, son, is that I don’t want anyone to cause any problems on victoria’s happy day, alright?

Nick: Are you saying I’m a problem?

Nikki: Alright, now, this is victoria’s moment. The last thing she needs is to have the two of you arguing.

Nikki: Hold on a second. Are you two telling me you’re both on board with this wedding?

Victor: Yeah.

Nick: Mom, you’re willing to stand there next to victoria as dad is handing victoria away to this guy who’s been lying his entire life? Who got everything he has because he exploited a death? Really?

Elena: [ Chuckles ]

Nate: So, the trip to the little winery down the road was a great idea. But unfortunately, it didn’t clear my writer’s block.

Elena: What?! How can you not be inspired by that old couple who own the winery? Their story was so romantic.

Nate: It was, but I’m not sure how that relates to victoria and ashland. Look, our new vineyard friends met in elementary school, and they’ve been inseparable ever since, which is pretty much the opposite of the bride and groom’s story.

Elena: Okay, but maybe that’s your angle. Sometimes your first love isn’t always the love of your life.

Nate: Okay, but referencing people’s exes during a wedding toast — probably not the best idea.

Elena: Good point. Okay, so, what do we know about ashland and victoria? They met during work. That’s something the both of us know know a little bit about.

Nate: Sharing professional interests can bring two people together.

Elena: Yes. That means that they have the same passions and values.

Nate: Mm. Working long hours together, saving lives. Oh, wait. That’s us.

[ Both laugh ] Um…structuring deals, making massive financial transactions?

[ Chuckles ] Whatever it is victoria and ashland do with their day.

Elena: Your guess is as good as mine. I was always a lot more excited about the O.R. Than executive suites.

Nate: Maybe I need to do a little research.

Elena: Well, in the meantime, we have this fine italian wine, and this will get our creative juices flowing.

Nate: Mm.

Billy: Hey, you two.

Elena: Hey.

Nate: Hope you got an extra glass for me.

Nate: Billy. You made it.

Billy: I did, yeah. We had a smooth flight. How was yours? How was, uh, ashland’s private jet?

Nate: Ah, it couldn’t have been better.

[ Chuckles ]

Elena: So, billy, I hope your arrival here means that you’ve come to terms with the fact that this wedding is going to happen?

Nate: Yeah, there’s no way victoria’s backing out now.

Billy: Yeah, well, we’ll see. I, uh — I assume everything’s gonna go exactly how it’s supposed to. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m actually looking for victoria. Excuse me.

Nate: I get the feeling he’s not letting this go.

Elena: Yeah, and he’s fighting a losing battle.

[ Door opens ]

Ashland: [ Coughs ]

[ Breathing heavily ]

Victoria: Are you okay?

Ashland: Oh, I’m fine. It’s just a little cough.

[ Coughs ]

Victoria: Have you been taking your medication?

Ashland: Yes. I’m okay. Really.

Victoria: I really hope that the stress of the last two days hasn’t exacerbated your condition.

Ashland: I promise I won’t let anything slow me down or get in the way of reciting my vows to you.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] Do you know what you’re gonna say? I mean, unless you want me to tell the minister that we’ve changed our minds about writing our own vows.

Ashland: Mine are written on my heart, and they have been for a long time. What about you?

Victoria: I wrote mine down on paper a little while back.

Ashland: Really? Can I get a preview?

Victoria: No, you may not. It’s gonna be a surprise.

Ashland: Well, then I will enjoy the anticipation.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] Well, I think I’m ready.

Ashland: You certainly are. You know, I’m not sure if I’m ready to let you out of my sight.

Victoria: You won’t have to for very long if you hurry up and get dressed. Besides, losing a few moments doesn’t really matter. We’re gonna have so many moments together in the future. So hurry up and get dressed and meet me downstairs. I’m gonna check in on my parents and see if the rest of our friends and family have arrived.

Ashland: [ Exhales heavily ]

[ Coughs ]

[ Sighs ]

Jack: Hey. Don’t worry about nick. What’s the worst that could happen?

Phyllis: [ Chuckles ] The worst that could happen is victoria’s security throws us out on our butts and it would be really awkward.

Jack: Yeah, that would be bad.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Jack: Yeah, well, just don’t be pessimistic. Put on your pretty dress, get ready for the cocktail party, and let’s hope everyone gets along.

Phyllis: Yeah.

[ Cellphones chirp ] Ohh! I don’t want bad news.

Jack: It’s not bad news. Take a look.

Phyllis: Ooh! The wedding pictures from summer and kyle’s wedding. She is stunning. They look so happy. Wow. You know, somebody may call me biased, but, uh, ashland and victoria’s splashy affair doesn’t hold a candle to this beautiful, intimate ceremony, even with this whole palazzo backdrop.

Jack: I’m sure both weddings will be perfect… in their own way.

[ Door closes ]

Nick: I’m sorry, but I don’t get it. I don’t know how you two can be supportive of this wedding. And, dad, it wasn’t that long ago that you yourself were looking into ashland’s past. I thought we were on the same page about this. What changed?

Victor: What changed, son, is that ashland confessed, okay? He came clean about his identity.

Nick: He only did that because I confronted him with the truth. He told us half the story, and he left out the part where he left his best friend in the world to die in a burning car. Who the hell does something like that?

Nikki: At that point, he thought his friend was already gone, beyond help.

Nick: I — I don’t know how you can make excuses for him.

Victor: Son, let’s put an end to this. I’m very appreciative of the fact that you are concerned about your sister’s well-being. But kindly let this go now, alright? Accept her decision. That’s it.

[ Footsteps approaching ] People everywhere living with type 2 diabetes

Nikki: Nicholas came here because he wants to make peace. You should hear him out, darling.

Victor: That alright with you, my sweetheart?

Victoria: It’s fine. There’s nothing that nicholas can say or do that’s going to upset me more than I already am.

Victor: You two work it out, okay?

Victoria: Okay, nicholas. I hope that you’re not going to try to tell me that I need to stop this wedding again because that’s definitely not going to happen.

Victor: [ Sighs heavily ] I’m afraid nicholas won’t let this go. The last thing I want him to do is to ruin this special day for our daughter.

Nikki: I understand why you’re worried, but I believe that nicholas will put his sister’s happiness first.

Victor: I only hope you’re right.

Nikki: Believe me. I was very upset when I heard that she had disinvited him, but I have to respect that. My biggest concern right now is that nicholas doesn’t yet know of ashland’s latest surprise.

Victor: Sweetheart, the fewer people know about this, the better, okay?

Nikki: [ Sighs ] Well, this last confession of his was atrocious. Forging your mentor’s will? If nicholas learns about that before the ceremony, it will only add fuel to his fire.

Victor: Sweetheart, the most important thing is that victoria has made peace with ashland. She’s okay with it, alright? That’s what’s important. The other secret needs to stay buried, and I will see to it that it does.

Nick: I promise you I’m not here to try to and stop your wedding.

Victoria: Right. You call it showing your concern, but your goal is the same.

Nick: Look, I get where you’re coming from, and I hate it that this has come between us. It was never my intention to betray you.

Victoria: But that’s exactly what you did.

Nick: Vick, I swear to you, i was hoping that I wouldn’t find anything shady about ashland.

Victoria: But you did. And then you just couldn’t let it go.

Nick: Because I’m worried about you. But I’ve had a lot of time to think about it, okay? And I guess I can understand… why ashland would work so hard to keep, you know, a painful memory a secret.

Victoria: But you still judge him for what he did.

Nick: Look, if me telling you the truth doesn’t make you change your mind about marrying this guy, I’m not gonna try and convince you otherwise. I have to respect your decision. Now, I’m not gonna tell you that I like it or that I’m ever gonna be able to trust this guy.

Victoria: Oh, that’s — that’s really very funny since you have completely destroyed my trust in you. You showed no regard for my feelings or for my wishes. How am I ever supposed to confide in you again?

Nick: All I can say is that i truly believed I was acting in your best interest. I don’t want to break this trust that we have. But I need you to know, vick, that I would never do anything to hurt you on purpose.

Victoria: Your apology doesn’t even begin to make up for what you did.

Nick: So, you’re saying you can’t even forgive me a little bit? It’s your wedding day. Now I’d really like to be here for my sister.

Ashland: [ Coughing ]

[ Gasping ]

Victoria: I appreciate the effort that you’re making, but i can tell that you’re still holding back about how you really feel about my fiancé. And that is the last thing that I need the day before my wedding. That being said, while I don’t forgive you, I won’t tell you to go, either.

Nick: What does that even mean?

Victoria: Our parents want us to be happy. They want this to be a celebration of family harmony. So, if you want to stick around for the reception and the wedding, that’s your choice.

Nick: So, you’ll let me stay for their sake?

Victoria: Dad gave me this palazzo as a wedding gift, and i am gonna make this a happy event for him. And you know how mom gets when we’re not getting along.

Nick: It’s your wedding. Your opinion is the only one that matters to me. Do you want me at this ceremony or not?

Victoria: Look, my focus is gonna be completely on ashland. If you happen to be in the crowd, I doubt I’ll even notice it.

Nick: [ Scoffs ] It’s not even an invitation, is it?

Victoria: I told you, you were welcome to come. What more do you expect from me?

Nick: I want to know where things stand with us.

Victoria: I’m not gonna talk with you about where we stand anymore. You hurt me, nicholas. It’s not my job to absolve you or to make you feel better. My only focus now is on ashland and my wedding.

Nick: [ Sighs ]

Billy: I know nate is on the premises. Maybe I should give him a call.

Ashland: That won’t be necessary. I’m fine.

Billy: You don’t look fine, ashland.

Ashland: I could use a glass of water.

[ Coughs ]

[ Breathing deeply ]

Billy: I still think calling nate would be a good idea.

Ashland: [ Coughs ] Thank you. You know, I’m surprised that you had the nerve to show your face. I heard that nikki urged you to, uh, gracefully bow out.

Billy: I think we both knew that that wasn’t gonna happen. I wasn’t gonna miss the most spectacular event of the year.

Ashland: You know, just in case you have any plans to disrupt the wedding, there’s something you should know.

Billy: Okay. Go ahead.

Victor: What the hell are you doing here?

Nikki: So, how did it go with nicholas? Were you two able to resolve your issues?

Victoria: Well, I didn’t kick him out, but I’m not exactly thrilled that he’s here, either.

Nikki: Well, I am. You made the right decision letting him stay.

Victoria: Jack!

Nikki: Oh, you made it!

Victoria: Welcome!

Victoria: Well, I also heard that summer and kyle’s wedding was very special. I wish I had been able to make it.

Jack: It was wonderful, you were missed, but it seemed like you had your hands full.

Victoria: Yes, maybe just a little. But I’m glad that they’ll be coming here so I can congratulate them in person.

Jack: And they’ll be bringing harrison with them.

Victoria: I know. Ashland is so looking forward to seeing his son.

Jack: Well, I happen to know the feeling is mutual. How is ashland doing?

Victoria: My fiancé’s very strong. He’s handling the treatments well.

Jack: Well, it sounds like congratulations are in order all around.

Nikki: Yes, we are on track to have a glorious wedding.

Victoria: Yes, as long as i make sure that everything is under control.

Nikki: Well, it is, darling. You don’t have to do another thing.

Victoria: Well, there are just actually a few more things that I do need to check on.

Jack: Victoria seems a little tense. Everything alright?

Victor: Now, billy boy, knowing you, I’m not a bit surprised that you’re loitering around where you’re not welcome.

Billy: I got an invitation, just like everyone else.

Victor: And you didn’t have the common sense to stay home?

Billy: If you don’t mind, victor, ashland and I are having a private conversation.

Victor: I don’t give a damn. I’m here to talk to the man who’s actually worthy of marrying my daughter.

Billy: Oh, come on. You don’t honestly believe that, do you?

Victor: You bet. Now, for your information, this is my property. I can have you thrown out of the damn place, or you walk out on your own.

Billy: Ashland, we’re not done yet, are we?

Ashland: I’m going to have to agree with my future father-in-law. Victor suggested that you leave the premises. So what are you waiting for? Scoot over.

Nikki: Well, yes, victoria is a little tense, but what bride isn’t? I was a bundle of nerves on our wedding day — both of them, as I recall.

Jack: Who could forget? I understand, though, there’s been a bit of friction between nicholas and victoria. I hope they’re not gonna let it ruin the day.

Nikki: Oh, no. But, uh, I can’t deny there’s has been a little bit of family conflict.

Jack: Well, I think that’s natural. Big event, lots of family. Nerves are bound to be frayed. Believe me. I have been in that situation with my sister more times than i can count. Everything works out in the end. It’s gonna be a stunning wedding.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] Well, the ceremony is small, just those closest to them, but the reception is going to be a much grander celebration.

Nate: Nikki. Jack.

Nikki: Hey, nate!

Jack: Elena! Good to see you.

Elena: Great to see you, jack.

Nikki: I hope you’ve been enjoying yourselves.

Elena: How could we not in a place this beautiful?

Nate: We’ve already visited the neighborhood winery.

Jack: Ooh, I’m gonna add that to my list of things to do.

Elena: [ Laughs ] So, nikki, are you ready for the big day?

Nikki: I think I’ve just about got everything all set.

Elena: [ Laughs ] Well, then you’re doing much better than nate. He’s still struggling with his best man toast.

Nikki: Ohh!

Jack: Wait. Best man? I didn’t know that. In fact, I didn’t know the two of you were close at all.

Nate: Oh, it’s a new friendship, but a strong one.

Jack: Well, ashland is a man of many surprises.

Nikki: Yes, he certainly is.

[ Chuckles ]

Phyllis: Hey! Oh, well, looking at your face, it didn’t go how you wanted it.

Nick: That’s an understatement.

[ Sighs ]

Phyllis: I’m sorry. I know how you wanted everything to work out.

Nick: Well, my sister’s just not in a very forgiving mood.

Phyllis: What about your parents? Can they step in?

Nick: No, they can’t because they’re both firmly on team ashland.

Phyllis: Really? I don’t even get that.

Nick: Yeah, me either. Vick did say I could go to the wedding if I wanted to.

Phyllis: Well, alright, that’s good. I mean, she’s coming around. That should make you feel better.

Nick: No, because her heart wasn’t in it when she asked. She’s just tired of us arguing, so she reluctantly gave in. But she made it very clear that this decision is not an act of forgiveness.

Phyllis: I don’t know why she’s being like this. Honestly, you’ve done everything you could, you know? You apologized. You were just trying to help her.

Nick: Well, it hasn’t done a damn bit of good because she still is really upset.

Phyllis: You know, I don’t get this. Maybe it’s the bridezilla thing. Maybe she’s just really tense before the wedding. You know what I mean? Because she’s being really, really petty, and she’s treating you like dirt. And I don’t like it.

Nick: Look, my sister has a right to feel the way she does, alright? So don’t use this as another opportunity to start trashing her. This is my battle. I’ll deal with it.

[ Sighs ]

Victoria: Hey, reed, listen. Don’t be sorry. I hate that you can’t make it, too, but I totally understand. Other than missing you, I mean, I’m good. Everything is fine. No. It’s more than fine. It’s — it’s perfection.

Billy: So, I guess whatever you had to say isn’t all that consequential in the grand scheme of things? Well, I will give you two your privacy. Oh, one last thing. Do you know where I can find victoria?

Victor: Billy boy, you’re pressing your luck, okay? You stay away from my daughter. This is her special occasion. I will not have you destroy her happy moments. Do you understand?

Billy: Oh, don’t worry. I won’t be the one to cause the bride any distress.

Victor: Now get out.

Ashland: I caught your look earlier. I hope this is important. I was just about to tell billy that victoria knows all my secrets, including the one that gaines is holding over my head. I was hoping it might undercut his plans to disrupt the wedding.

Victor: I don’t understand why victoria invited him in the first place, especially given the information I just received from adam.

Ashland: Another complication?

Victor: [ Sighs ] The chartered flight that billy was on apparently had another passenger.

Ashland: Lily, I would assume.

Victor: No. She’s flying separately with my grandchildren.

Ashland: So, who was with billy?

Victor: Jesse gaines.

Ashland: [ Sighs heavily ]

Victor: The description that I was given of him fit him perfectly, okay? And he’s the only other one who knows about your crime, ashland.

Ashland: [ Sighs ] Yawns “okay okay, I’m up, I’m up!”

Elena: Wow. Everything about this place is incredible. The rolling hills, the majestic views. It’s breathtaking.

Nate: I second that.

Nikki: This place has always held a special spot in my heart. Victor and I have had many romantic holidays here.

Jack: You can almost feel the magic of tuscany in the air.

Nikki: Perfect for a wedding.

Phyllis: Listen, I know it’s your battle. I’m just in the trenches with you. I just wanted you to know that. I’m trying to help. I’m not trying to trash victoria. That’s not what I’m trying to do. I just want you to know that you’re not the one who’s wrong in any of this.

Nick: I just — I feel bad, you know? All I wanted to do was help my sister, but all I have done is hurt her. And I don’t want to do that anymore. I certainly don’t want to cast a shadow over her wedding by staying here.

Phyllis: Seriously? Are we leaving?

Nick: [ Sighs ]

Ashland: How did billy abbott get his hands on jesse gaines?

Victor: I don’t know. But you and I will have to think about this rationally. We have to handle him.

Ashland: Well, how did he make it to italy without you knowing?

Victoria: What’s going on?

Billy: Gaines, time to get ready. Gaines.

Adam: I’m looking for gaines.

Billy: Who?

Adam: Jesse gaines. Are you really gonna pretend like you don’t know who he is, billy?

Billy: I’ll pretend however i have to to get you the hell out of here so I can go upstairs and pack for tuscany.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Relax, billy. You can sleep in tomorrow, because you’re not going to tuscany. You’re not getting anywhere near victoria’s wedding.

Billy: Yeah, and who’s gonna stop me, adam, you?

Adam: If you’re smart, it won’t come to that. You’ll stop yourself from making a move that, I promise you, you will live to regret.

Victoria: Are you hiding out in here?

Ashland: I was hoping you would join me. We haven’t had a chance to talk since your parents arrived and you made it clear that the wedding was still on.

Victoria: What is there to talk about? Everything’s happening as planned.

Ashland: Well, I wanted to know more about your decision process.

Victoria: Why? You seemed happy when you heard the news.

Ashland: I was. I am. But —

Victoria: Something has changed?

Ashland: [ Sighs ] I want nothing more in this life than to be your husband, and i was thrilled to hear that you still intend to walk down that aisle, but…now I’m not sure you should. I think…perhaps I should call off the wedding.

Victor: Baby. I’m surprised you’re back so soon. I thought you were checking on the wedding preparations.

Nikki: Ah, yes, I was. Kind of.

Victor: What do you mean “kind of”?

Nikki: I was speaking with ashland.

Victor: Oh.

Nikki: After hearing everything he finally confessed to victoria, I was urging him to back out of the wedding.

Victor: You did what?

Nikki: Of course, I don’t know if he will or not, but he knows how I feel.

Victor: How could you? We are sending mixed messages. I just told victoria how happy i was that she was marrying ashland.

Tessa: [ Sighs ] I just wish you were coming to italy like we originally planned. I’m gonna hate being there without you, and I don’t like the idea of you being by yourself here.

Mariah: Why? Are you scared to leave me alone?

Tessa: I didn’t say that.

Mariah: You didn’t have to. You are worried that I’m gonna fall apart or I’m gonna start freaking out over dominic.

Tessa: Okay, you’re putting words in my mouth. I didn’t think anything like that. I’m not scared to leave you alone, but, yeah, I’m concerned.

Mariah: It’s fine. I’m going to be fine. I’m not in crisis mode. I just want to be nearby in case dominic still has a cold or any problems come up.

Tessa: Okay, um…well, what exactly are you going to do if something comes up?

Mariah: I still want to be the person who protects him like I did before he was born. My mind knows that it isn’t my job. It’s just that my heart — my heart hasn’t caught up.

Tessa: I get that. I’m sorry.

Mariah: I’m doing my best to accept that my role in the baby’s life has changed. That’s why I’m keeping my distance from him.

Tessa: Except you aren’t, really, if you feel like you need to be within a 10-mile radius of him just in case.

Mariah: I realize that it doesn’t make a lot of sense to you, but that’s just what i need.

Tessa: Okay, I’m sorry. I just — I just — I really want you to get back to your old self again. No, I’m sorry, scratch that. I don’t want you to erase what happened. I know that that experience changed you, and that’s fine by me. I love every version of you. All I care about is helping you find your way back to being happy again.

Mariah: Well, I know something that would make me happy — having a baby of our own. You know, it would give me a new sense of focus and purpose, but you took that completely off the table, so where do I go from here?

Tessa: All I want is for us to take our time and really plan for our future as parents. You know what? That gives me an idea. If you come to tuscany, after the wedding, maybe we can stay in italy for a few days and just bop around.

Mariah: How many times do i have to tell you? I am not comfortable with going.

Tessa: Well, just, you know, think about it. I mean, it could be a mini vacation. Just picture us in rome, walking around the pantheon. Maybe being somewhere that’s thousands of years old would give us some perspective.

Mariah: So, contemplating ancient ruins with tourists and souvenir salesmen. Yeah, I just don’t think that I’m up for it.

Tessa: Okay, well, then we will just do something that’s not in the guidebooks. Oh, maybe that italian metal band that we like that won eurovision, maybe they’re doing a gig. Maybe just screaming in a crowd of thousands of people after being with the fancy newmans will really be what we need.

Mariah: That does sound like us. And I haven’t been to a concert in so long.

Tessa: It would be fun, cathartic. And afterward, when we’re relaxed and rejuvenated, we can start talking about a family.

Mariah: So, now it sounds suspiciously like a bribe. Luring me to tuscany with the promises of planning for our future baby?

Tessa: Is it working?

Victoria: Why would you change your mind about going through with the wedding?

Ashland: Because I wasn’t seeing beyond what I wanted, until I spoke with nikki.

Victoria: What did my mother say to you?

Ashland: She was worried that you were moving forward with the wedding for all the wrong reasons. And if that’s true, that would devastate me. I want you to be happy. I want this to be the best day of your life, and if it’s not…

Victoria: I know my mother meant well, but she’s wrong. I’m doing exactly what I need to do.

Ashland: Marrying me to avoid questions and the potential scandal, to protect the company.

Victoria: It’s in both of our best interests.

Ashland: You know, a year ago, I would have been right there with you. Guard the company at all costs. That was always my standard operating procedure.

Victoria: It’s not anymore?

Ashland: No. Your love has profoundly changed me. And I know I betrayed that love by keeping secrets from you. And I can see how deeply wounded you are. Earlier, when you could barely look at me when you were talking about the wedding preparations? That destroyed me. I do not want you to go through with this marriage if your heart is no longer in it.

Nikki: After everything ashland has kept from victoria, you’re okay with this wedding? How are you not as shocked as i am? Oh. Oh.

Victor: What?

Nikki: How long have you known the details about ashland’s past?

Victor: Oh, a while.

Nikki: Mm-hmm. And you kept it quiet from me and from our daughter.

Victor: Let me just say i didn’t want the press to get ahold of the information, alright? And I certainly didn’t want billy boy to get ahold of it.

Nikki: Well, what exactly does billy know?

Victor: How the hell do i know? I think he’s continued the investigation as we speak.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] I could say a lot about him, also about how you have handled this, but I am mostly concerned about victoria.

Victor: Sweetheart, obviously, so am I.

Nikki: How can you believe it’s a good idea for victoria to get married simply because she thinks it’s good for business? Obviously, her heart is broken.

Adam: Time to wake up. Victoria made her choice. She’s marrying ashland.

Billy: Well, it’s not over until she says “I do.”

Adam: Billy, whatever shred of decency you have left, whatever affection you still feel for victoria should be enough to make you realize that you have to let her live her life. Why are you so hell-bent on sabotaging her happiness?

Billy: Actually, I’m trying to ensure her happiness.

Adam: Is that what you tell yourself? Man, how do you sleep at night?

Billy: Like a baby. Because I am entirely at peace with trying to stop victoria from marrying a deceitful, duplicitous man like ashland locke.

Adam: Whatever the guy is or he isn’t, none of us — not me, not victor, and certainly not you — have the right to throw stones. So by tracking down this guy from his past, you just look petty and —

Billy: Oh, my god. I have no idea what you’re talking about. You keep mentioning this guy. Jamie gams or whatever the hell his name is?

Adam: Jesse gaines. Just come off of it. I know you met with this shady character from his past, that goes all the way back to when he started his career. So you know the guy’s father was the lawyer for the woman that gave him his first break.

Billy: Wow, adam, you should be a private investigator, ’cause that’s really great information right there. And this gaines guy sounds like he’s got a really great story, but what I am most intrigued about right now in this moment is you running over here at this hour, wondering if I’m meeting with some guy, when you should be on a plane.

Adam: You gave away your hand when you were practically bragging that someone was gonna help victoria see the light. That was gaines.

Billy: And it didn’t bother you then. Didn’t even raise a question. So is there a specific threat that this guy poses now? Because so far, you’ve given me a bunch of basic information that, honestly, any tool could’ve looked up.

Adam: You were the threat, billy, and this impulse to interfere in victoria’s life.

Billy: [ Chuckles ] There’s one good thing about knowing you for as long as i have. I can see right through you, and you’ve got nothing. You know what happened? Your father called you and told you to jump, and you said, “how high?” Your own father doesn’t trust you with the details. Who’s pathetic now?

 

Victor: Sweetheart, if i thought for one moment that marrying ashland would be to victoria’s detriment, I would have asked her to walk away, i would have done that. You know that.

Nikki: Yes, but I don’t know that you are seeing her true feelings underneath her armor. I mean, she always wants to appear to be so tough and in control in front of you, but she’s gotten very good at hiding her hurt and pain.

Victor: Well, I’m not pretending that, you know, she’ll solve the situation with a snap of her fingers. All I know is that she loves him. He loves her. I think that’s the most important thing for our daughter, I really do. I mean, I know that he desperately wants to spend whatever time he has left in his life with her.

Nikki: Well, god knows I want her to be happy. And if this marriage will make her happy, I will support it.

Victor: Well, then let’s not stand in her way.

Adam: I’m actually on the inside of this situation. You are one that’s on the outside with your little nose pressed up against the glass, so whatever you’re trying to do, billy, it’s not gonna work.

Billy: Oh, you mean tell the truth?

Adam: No. Divert attention away from the matter at hand. Now, my father and I, we are in complete agreement that victoria deserves to have her wedding go off without a hitch.

Billy: Can we please skip this little dance? You try to convince me that you’re a changed man and you’ve turned the corner and you’re actually somewhat of a decent human being or a good brother?

Adam: It’s fine by me. I don’t give a damn about your opinion because I know that i have changed.

Billy: No, adam, you don’t give a damn about your sister, and she barely tolerates you.

Adam: I’m not gonna pretend like we’re close, but things are a lot better than they’ve ever been, and you know what? I respect her as a businesswoman.

Billy: That’s very sweet of you, and you should, because your father does. He put her in charge. Yes, he’s had somebody else sit in that chair over the years, but he’s always looked over their shoulder, micro-managing them. Not this time. He has fully put her in charge.

Adam: Yeah, ’cause he’s focused on his new venture with me.

Billy: That’s what it is. It’s got to kill you that you got the consolation prize, right? You’re stuck with newman media.

Adam: I’m thrilled to be at the helm of newman media. I’m proud to be working with my father, and I’m actually doing everything I can to restore my relationships with my brother and my sisters. See, I’m not out to destroy anyone’s life, unlike you, billy, because you are now the destructive one.

Billy: I am protecting victoria and my kids.

Adam: I don’t buy that for a second. Victoria can take care of herself and johnny and katie. She doesn’t need you to save her or help her, and that’s why i know this isn’t even about her, it’s about you and your jealousy and insecurity to let go in this little delusional belief that you know what’s best.

Billy: Okay. I am not jealous. That’s not what this is about.

Adam: You may have moved on from victoria a long time ago, but it kills you that she moved on and she’s marrying a man that is superior to you in so many ways, billy. He’s a better businessman than you. He’s an actual grown-up, not a man-child, and I’m sure that he will treat her better than you ever will.

Billy: Are you the president of his fan club all of a sudden?

Adam: No, I’ll leave that title to victoria. But I’ve gotten to know the guy a little bit, and I like him. But the most important thing is I think he’s a good influence on your kids.

Billy: Don’t mention me and don’t mention victoria and don’t ever talk about my kids.

Adam: Relax. We’re just talking.

Billy: You got a plane to catch, and so do I. So unless you plan to drug me and lock me away until after the wedding, get the hell out of here.

Adam: You know, I don’t have to stop you, billy, ’cause you’re gonna fail. This whole thing, it’s gonna blow up in your face. And, man, I can’t wait to have a front-row seat to your humiliation.

[ Scoffs ]

Victoria: You think you have me all figured out, but even when I was furious with you, I never said that my heart wasn’t in it.

Ashland: I’m so sorry that i hurt you by hiding the truth. And I’m sorry that the person that I was all those years ago has come back to threaten what we have built together. For decades, I have done everything in my power to preserve my success. The irony of all of that is not lost on me. Not in comparison to what you feel about me. The real me. And now that you know the entire story…what are you thinking when you look at me?

Victoria: When I couldn’t sleep last night, all I could think about was what you told me about your past. And I asked myself what would i do if I was in your position.

Ashland: I have no doubt that you would have done the morally right thing in each instance, because you’re a good person.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ]

Ashland: And there is a line that you would never cross.

Victoria: What does that make you?

Ashland: A ruthless, sometimes self-serving man who wants to be better. Because of you. And I want to live because of you. And I want a chance to make amends because of you.

Victoria: I believe you. I do, and I want to give you that chance.

[ Sighs ] Because, despite everything, i love you. I always will. I still want to be your wife.

Ashland: God, I love you.

Mariah: Your offer is tempting. I would love to spend some time with you in italy.

Tessa: So join me.

Mariah: Tessa, I wish i could, but I am not ready to pull away from dominic. That’s just my reality.

Tessa: Okay.

Mariah: Moving out of the mansion was a huge step for me, the correct step. But I still have a lot of issues that I need to take care of so i can comfortably disconnect in a healthy way. Abby is dominic’s mom. I know that she’s gonna take care of him. But what if I’m gone and he needs breast milk?

Tessa: Well…there are other options.

Mariah: I know. Abby talked about switching to formula, but I still want to make it clear that I’m here and I’m willing to provide for him. So that means that I ne– I need to stick around. Hopefully you understand?

Tessa: Yeah, I understand… that you’re making a lot of excuses.

Gaines: You hid me upstairs like a mistresS.

Billy: You overstate your allure.

Gaines: Was that who I think it was?

Billy: Yeah, it was adam newman.

Gaines: Victor newman’s son. That’s not good.

Billy: It’s fine, okay? He did not know you were upstairs. Everything’s gonna be okay. But right now, we got to get the show on the road. So let’s go to the airport.

Gaines: Wait a minute, i never agreed to a trip to tuscany with you. That wasn’t part of our arrangement. You see, this is where I say it was a pleasure doing business with you. Ciao.

Billy: No, no, no, you’re not saying ciao. Okay, you need to come with me. I will make it worth your while.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ]

Elena: Ooh.

Nate: I told you we were too early.

Ashland: [ Clears throat ]

Victoria: Oh. Hi, welcome!

Ashland: How was the flight over?

Elena: Hey, it was perfect. I mean, it was a private jet. How could it not be? There were no babies crying, no one kicking the back of my seat or hogging the arm rest, and we had champagne.

Nate: Mm, thank you for arranging all of that.

Ashland: Well, it’s my pleasure. It’s the least I can do for my best man and his lovely lady.

Nate: Just so you know, I am taking my duties seriously. Anything you need, I am here for you. And, victoria, as your friend, too, my wedding party responsibilities don’t stop with ashland.

Victoria: Oh, so kind of you, but, listen, my only request is that you enjoy every moment and you show elena a great time. Everything’s under control.

Elena: [ Chuckles ]

Ashland: Why don’t I show you guys to your room and give you the lay of the land. Excuse me. Right this way. You have always loved vicks vapors.

Gaines: As much as I would love to continue to pad my bank account, there are other factors to consider on a jaunt to italy.

Billy: Like what?

Gaines: You would basically be delivering me into the hands of the two men that I betrayed. How do I know that I can trust you, that you won’t use me and then screw me over and throw me to the wolves?

Billy: Because we want the same thing and you just helped me out big time, okay? So there’s nothing you need to worry about. I’ve got your back.

Gaines: [ Sighs ]

Billy: Listen to me. Neither victor nor ashland are ever gonna do anything with that many people in attendance. We get in, we get out. Everything is fine. The only thing you need to do is tell victoria everything you told me here tonight. Show her the letter proving that ashland locke broke the law and that his career, everything he’s ever done, is built on a pack of lies.

Gaines: You know, it sounds simple enough, but these things have a way of quickly becoming complicated and dangerous.

Billy: You need to trust me. I will get you out of there safely without an ounce of risk. And we can come up with another financial arrangement that squashes your concerns about being in the same location as lurch and locke.

Gaines: While I am feeling a little bit more open-minded, I’m still not fully on board here.

Billy: Okay. Well, there’s one more argument that I can make. There is something in this for you far sweeter than any amount of money.

Nate: Hey, hey, hey. You seem a little unsteady. Are you okay?

Ashland: You know, I’m gonna say this to you and only you, I’m not feeling that great, but I will be damned if I’m going to let anything get in the way of this wedding to victoria.

Elena: That view is unbelievably stunning.

Ashland: I agree. I can’t imagine a more perfect setting for this ceremony, and i want you to thank you so much for your sage advice and support the other day when I was feeling down. I took your advice, and i followed my heart. And it seems like it worked out pretty well.

Elena: I think you should tell him.

Nate: I don’t want to bring the mood down, but elena and i bumped into billy before we took off. He alluded to some information he learned about you. Maybe some of the things you were concerned about when you and I last spoke.

Elena: He made it very clear that he hopes the wedding won’t happen.

Ashland: Yeah, well, I truly appreciate your warning, but victoria and I and her parents are fully aware of billy’s intentions, and despite whatever he may think, there’s nothing he can do to stop the wedding.

Nate: Well, that’s good to hear.

Ashland: Listen, this has nothing to do with the two of you. I want you guys to go settle in, go get a glass of wine or two, and I’ll catch up with you in a little while, okay?

Nate: Alright, thanks.

Ashland: Thank you.

Elena: See you soon. Well, I’m glad ashland doesn’t seem worried, ’cause it would be a shame if billy caused trouble in paradise. Because this place is definitely paradise.

[ Chuckles ]

Nate: Look at you. You seem calmer and looser than you’ve been in weeks.

Elena: You know, I think i really am. Although, I was a bit anxious when we were driving through florence. I mean, there’s so much to see. I don’t know how we’re gonna get it all in. From sight-seeing to wedding festivities, and we’re only here a few days.

Nate: We can’t, but I have a solution. We could plan a trip to come back, see all the tourist-y things.

Elena: Well, I would love that.

Nate: But we need to prioritize what we want to see the most on this trip.

Elena: Well, you’re the expert. What are your can’t-miss sights?

Nate: The theater of silence. It’s this serene natural amphitheater, and there’s this jaw-dropping waterfall nearby.

Elena: Well, I would love to see that with you. Although, if your plan was to get me to relax, you’re failing, because the thought of being with you in such an idyllic place makes my heart race.

Nate: Mine, too.

Victor: Wow.

Nikki: [ Sighs ]

Victor: The ambiance.

Nikki: It is magical.

Victor: I think just being here is going to — is going to help ashland and victoria along, you know? I mean, who can help but fall in love more?

Nikki: [ Chuckles ] No one.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Victor: Oh.

[ Sighs ] Yeah, so…I got to take this, okay?

Nikki: What? What’s going on?

Victor: I have to take care of something, my love.

Nikki: Oh.

Victor: Be right back.

 

Mariah: I am not making excuses. I have legit reasons for wanting to stay in genoa city.

Tessa: I didn’t intend to sound harsh. I get it, it just — ah! This is all so complicated. I didn’t mean to put any pressure on you or make you feel like I’m not with you 100%, because I am.

Mariah: Well, sometimes it doesn’t feel that way.

Tessa: This is hard. For both of us. And it just came out the wrong way. I promised I wouldn’t let you go through any of this alone, and i meant it. I’m here for you, and I’m here to help you in any way I can.

Mariah: Then stay with me. Please, don’t go to the wedding.

Nikki: Benvenuti!

Elena: Nikki! You look gorgeous. Mwah!

Nikki: Oh, thank you. So do you. Italy brings out the best in everybody.

Nate: Thank you for having us, nikki.

Nikki: I’m just so happy that you could be here, and I am thrilled to be the matron of honor to your best man.

Nate: Oh, well, the honor is all mine.

Nikki: [ Chuckles ]

Elena: And this palazzo is gorgeous.

Nikki: Oh, thank you. Isn’t it something? Victor and I gave it to victoria and ashland for their wedding present.

Nate: Wow. [ Chuckles ] That is one amazing gift.

Elena: Yes, and I’m sure it’s gonna be filled with lots of special memories for the newlyweds.

Nikki: Oh, I hope so.

Nate: And I’m looking forward to catching up with you and victor.

Nikki: Well, so are we. Victor had to step out for a minute. You know my husband, it’s always something.

[ Light laughter ]

Adam: Gaines was spotted entering billy’s apartment building tonight. So I went over there and i confronted billy about it, who denied knowing who the guy was, but he was being even more smug than usual, so I think the two of them are colluding.

Victor: Really?

Adam: I did everything i could to try to dissuade him from coming to italy, but he seems more fired up than even before to stop the wedding.

Victor: Well, son, I’m not blaming you, okay? I know you did everything you could.

Adam: Well, I was at a slight disadvantage since you didn’t give me any specifics on gaines or how he’s a threat to victoria and ashland.

Victor: I did not tell you because I didn’t trust you — nothing to do with that. I just didn’t want to disseminate the information for victoria’s sake, alright? I hadn’t even told nikki about it.

Adam: But you need to tell me now. The more that I know, the more that I can help. And I want to do whatever I can to help you and victoria.

Victor: Okay, I’ll tell you everything.

Gaines: What is that you think is sweeter than money? ‘Cause I can’t think of much.

Billy: Revenge. What did you say when you mentioned you resented ashland? You rightfully resented him for practically stealing your father from you. He got all the praise, he got all the accolades, and you — you got shoved to the sidelines.

Gaines: You really do understand.

Billy: I know a little something about being a black sheep of the family. I’m gonna be honest, jesse, your situation is worse, ’cause ashland used your father for his own good. And sure, he paid you off along the way, but you never got any respect. He still looks down his nose at you.

Gaines: Which is why I am happy to help you expose him for what and who he is. Yeah, it would be a magnificent moment.

Billy: Think about how satisfying it would be to know that you were a part of it. To take down ashland locke. I mean, you’d be able to see the look on his face when he realizes that you were the one with the power all along.

Gaines: You do make a persuasive argument.

Billy: So?

Gaines: When do we leave?

Billy: We’ll get the last flight out. I got to finish packing, make a phone call. Grab yourself a drink or a bite to eat. Make yourself comfortable.

Gaines: Don’t mind if I do. Hey, billy.

Billy: Yeah?

Gaines: This trip is gonna be one for the ages.

Billy: Yeah, it is. You’ll get your long-deserved revenge, and I will stop someone that I care very much about from making one of the biggest mistakes of her life. We’re for those who love to discover.

Mariah: I doubt it would be a problem if you backed out of the performance. I heard that leslie brooks is gonna be there. One fabulous musician should be enough. Or you could say that you’re sick.

Tessa: No, mariah, I can’t do that.

Mariah: Why not?

Tessa: It’s too late. It wouldn’t be right. They’re counting on me.

Mariah: Yeah, yeah, I am — I’m sorry.

Tessa: Yeah, it would be really unprofessional.

Mariah: You’re right. Go, have — have a great time. I’m gonna let you finish packing.

Tessa: Whoa, no, no, no, no. Hey. We have to keep talking about this.

Mariah: No, it’s fine. We don’t have to. We can — we can talk when you get back.

Adam: Ashland has been paying gaines for years to keep the original camilla rhodes letter quiet? Guy built his entire empire off stolen money from mentor’s estate? That’s quite a lot to process. How’s victoria handling it?

Victor: Well, I think her relationship with ashland transcends everything that happened years ago.

Adam: I’m glad to hear that.

Victor: To be frank with you, I think those two belong together.

Adam: And they will be, unless billy shows up shooting his mouth off. Not only would that be mortifying for victoria and ashland, but it would destroy ashland’s legacy, not to mention damage newman/locke and newman media.

Victor: How did you end things with billy?

Adam: I told him he’d be shooting himself in the foot and he would fail, because that’s what billy does. But I’m not sure we can even count on him to fail properly, and I don’t even know if gaines is still in the picture.

Victor: I paid that gaines S.O.B. A lot of money to go away. He didn’T. He broke his word to me.

Adam: So how far do you want me to go to stop them?

Billy: I just wanted to check in with you. I’m just about to leave for italy. How’s california? Oh, good, okay. And how’s mattie? Oh, great. I’m glad to hear that. Yeah, johnny and katie are good. Hannah’s gonna have them all packed up and ready to go when you get back, but I’ll keep you posted. You might not actually have to get on that flight, because if everything goes the way I think it will, there won’t be a wedding to attend.

Elena: Being here, you’re just so transported.

Ashland: It’s a magnificent venue, huh?

Victoria: We just want all of our guests to feel like they’re, you know, like they’re a part of the family, at home with us, enjoying a beautiful celebration.

Nate: Oh, we do.

Victoria: You know, if you guys ever decide to get married, we could loan you the palazzo.

Nate: [ Clears throat ]

Elena: [ Chuckles ] We’ll have to keep that in mind.

Nate: Uh, yeah. Well, you two are making tying the knot look pretty appealing.

Elena: Absolutely. Relationship goals.

Victoria: Well, let me just say, it’s never easy, but communication is key.

Ashland: Just keep talking.

Victor: Well, hello, everybody.

Ashland: Here he is!

Nikki: Hi, darling.

Victor: Don’t let me interrupt.

Victoria: Oh, you’re not. No, not at all. Ashland and I were just saying how lucky we are to have made it this far. And the best is yet to come.

Nate: Mm-hmm.

Victor: See? Everything is going well. And it will continue to go well.
