There’s nobody missing. Well, except for tj. But we have great news, and we wanted to share it with the family as soon as possible. Tj is on call, so it’s up to me to be the bearer of fantastic news. Okay. So, spill. We found our surrogate. The corinthos-davis house is gonna need a lot of support, especially from the lgbtqia+ community. It’s vital that I get a balanced board for maximum outreach. And terry, as a transgender woman, will be able to really speak to those issues from a personal perspective. It’s so important for us to have her insights so we can offer the right guidance and create a safe space for kids that are, you know, questioning their gender identity. Well, dr. Randolph is amazing. She’s highly intelligent, detail-oriented, and extremely professional. She’d be a great addition. I know she would. I just — I hope she has enough time.

How did you find her? We signed up with a service last week, and we did all the interviews yesterday.

[ Chuckling ] Wow. You’re certainly on the fast track. Well, it’s gonna take at least nine months. So, tell us about this woman. Well, there were a few good candidates. But the one tj and I liked the best was andrea gates. She’s in a stable marriage. She’s got a young son, who’s young enough he wouldn’t ask about having a baby brother or sister. She’s completely fine with us going with her to the doctor’s appointments. And we just… we really connected with her. We already did the background checks and filled out all the forms. And the best thing is she’s willing to start the process right away. Wow.

[ Chuckles ] That’s incredible. You’re not letting any grass grow.

[ Scoffs ] Nope. This is all kind of happening fast. Are you and tj sure? Absolutely. 100%.

[ Knock on door ] Oh! That must be the sushi. So, you pick up the bead you want to use. Okay. And you can use any color or shape you like. Alright. Sometimes I like to use only a few colors. And there’s still a ton of stuff to do, paperwork and contracts. And timiko, from my clerkship with judge chua, is gonna handle all the legal details. And, of course, we’re gonna — we’re gonna need a bigger place. But for now, we’re emotionally, physically, psychologically, and financially ready. Well, that covers all the bases. Are you sure she’s related to us?

Kristina. Hey. Hi! How’d it go with dr. Randolph? Um, fantastic. Yeah, it was — it was great. I mean, I think it went well. She was asking a ton of questions, and she was very smart, just like you said. Terry is thorough. That’s got to mean she’s considering it, right? Definitely a good sign. Yeah. Oh. Yay! So, I guess, all in all, it means I had a very productive meeting today. Great. Great. So it was worth sacrificing the sushi party for. Yeah. What? Sushi party? What are you talking about? The fact that molly can’t cook and she can order out is how I know she’s one of us. Molly, I wasn’t trying to question you before. Jordan, don’t be silly. You know I completely value your perspective. Ugh. I suppose I’m always in investigator mode. I just know you and tj have demanding careers and busy lives. Yeah, that’s putting it mildly. Yeah. I wonder where you both got that from.

[ Both chuckle ] Well, if you’re sure you’re ready, then I say let’s bring on baby lansing-davis-ashford.

[Voice breaking] Snappy barb. Well, you two were a perfect match for the battle of the wit. So, our project at deception gives me something to focus on. Because I, uh… I can’t — I — I ca– I can’t believe he’s gone. We were gonna travel the world together. Luke-style, not quartermaine. But luke always had a scheme on the side. Oh, we were perfectly matched in that s-score, too.

[ Slurps ] He was so funny. He used to make me laugh. He used to make me cry. He never bored me. He loved you. He did. And I… I miss him so.

[ Sighs ] Sorry. Dare I ask?

[ Sighs ] Cody. Gladys filed a restraining order against him. What? And let’s just say all hell broke loose — literally. This food is really good.

[ Chuckles ] Hadn’t really noticed. Well, you actually have to try it to find out. Mm. I guess when I’m — I guess when I’m happy, I — I don’t really have much of an appetite. Really? [ Sighing ]

[ Breathes deeply ] Ohh! [ Grunts ]

[ Exhales sharply ] Well, honey, I’m happy for you if you and tj have made your decision. Mom, we have. Okay. I’m just being a nudge. You’ll find out shortly that that, too, will be your job as a mother. I can testify to that.

[ Chuckles ] Well, with any luck, andrea will be pregnant in the next couple months and I’ll be joining your ranks in the “mom squad” by this time next year. And we can’t wait to welcome you. Honey, you are my baby, and I’m always gonna worry about you. I know. Okay? So I’ll call you tomorrow. Okay. And I want to hear more about andrea. Yeah. Me too. Sounds good. I wish I could stay longer, but tomorrow is the preliminary budget battle — round one. Ugh, no, that sounds horrible.

And you were there for all of it. You know, I was so worried about making a mistake, the one that would finally push you away. And then what would happen to violet and her relationship with the boys? I had to close off to protect that, to protect them. Us. Me. For what it’s worth, you — you don’t ever have to protect yourself from me. I know. Maybe I’ve been a little too careful. Okay. [ Both laugh ] Okay.

I just — I wonder if it’s all happening too quickly. Yeah, like the rush of a tornado pulling molly and tj into its eye? Well, molly had all the answers. It’s obvious they did their research. A doctor and a lawyer walk into a bar.

[ Chuckles ] I share your concern, and I make myself feel better by realizing that molly and tj are probably two of the most mature people I know. And they’ve certainly stood the test of time, certainly lasted longer than I did with any of my relationships — or most any other couple that I know. So, if anyone can figure it out, they can. Yeah. I guess. So, where was kristina tonight? Wasn’t she available? Good question. Sam… I want you to know what an incredible mom I think you are to danny and scout and rocco and charlotte. I mean, you seem to juggle it all and still find time to take the kids on adventures to the zoo and escape rooms and… oh, please don’t remind me of that because we almost lost charlotte. Yeah, well, charlotte marches to her own beat. That’s for sure. She sure does. March to the beat of her own drum. Mm-hmm. So, I was wondering — well, tj and i were both wondering… if you would be the baby’s godmother. Molly, I am — I am so honored that you would ask me to be the baby’s godmother. And obviously my — my answer is yes, but let’s — let’s get you pregnant first. Of course. Tj is gonna ask curtis to be the godfather. I’m sure he will love that.

I hope dante was able to get cody under control. Me too. It sounds really awful. Should we go back there? No. I’m sure dante can handle it. They have a long history together. Now, mac, just hear me out. Always — and gladly. I love being a grandmother. Don’t get me wrong. There is nothing better. But it is not full time. And I don’t want to be too pushy with maxie and the kids. I’m starting to feel like there is so much more I should be doing. Please don’t tell me you want to go back to being a private eye. No. No. I am definitely done with that. But I certainly would be interested in helping out at the police station. I want to be at the center of something important. Felicia, I realize that you are relentless. And you’d be a great asset. But? Mac, I am not asking for special treatment. I-I want to contribute in a meaningful way. I want to use my skills and my experience to help the community. What about the hospital? What about it? That’s a great place to look. I don’t have a medical background. Felicia, there’s a whole ecosystem over there, from orderlies to surgeons, not to mention all the volunteers. Think of all the connections we’ve made over there, all the help that they’ve given us over the years. They saved maxie’s life. And I’m assuming that molly probably talked to her, a one-on-one kind of conversation. Yeah. That’s sweet. Kristina will be a great support and obviously very involved. It’s wonderful that they’re so close. Wonderful. Can molly and i have a moment alone, please? It’s fine. Okay. Alright. I will check in with you tomorrow. And remember — I love you, both. what’s the update on curtis? Uh, he’s in rehab, but it’s been so difficult. Do the doctors think his condition is permanent? Well, apparently, the bullet nicked his spine, but the doctor says not all spinal injuries are the same, so we’re praying he regains use of his legs. Well, you know I would do anything for you, so if you ever need anything… what are your plans until school starts up again?

[ Sighs ] I’m not really sure. Well, did the chuck offer you a part-time position after your internship? Yeah, they did. But I turned it down. W-why? Well, I was hoping that I can go back to your gallery. Well, you know, my — my place isn’t as prestigious as the chuck, but… I’d be very happy to have you back. I just feel more comfortable with you, and I can make my own hours, and that’s important now since so much is going on in my personal life. Hey, trina! You want to join us?

[ Sniffles ]

Is there a problem here? I’m not sure, dr. Montague. Sasha’s completely incoherent, but that doesn’t track with her prescribed medications. Patients can often have unexplained reactions to even mild sedatives. I think she’s getting non-prescribed meds from somewhere, so I ordered a blood test just to be sure.

Spencer is so good with his little brother, isn’t he? That’s so nice to see. Spencer is devoted to ace. You should see them at home. He changes him. He feeds him. He even sings him a lullaby. Ace was being so fussy one day while I was there, and spencer calmed him down with a lullaby.

[ Chuckles ] It was the sweetest thing. They’re inseparable. And that’s not a problem for you? Why would it be? Well, just if spencer is spending so much time with ace, then he’s also spending time with esme. That must be a little uncomfortable for you. Hey, ladies. Hey. Curtis told me they moved him to rehab. I’ve been given a second chance at life, and I am so grateful to everyone at G.H., But especially to my husband. Michael’s support has been incredible. Yeah, well, don’t give me too much credit. You’re the strong one in this relationship. Don’t listen to him. He will never admit how much he’s done for me. Though, thinking about our children was even another inspiration. [ Sighs ] I ca– I can’t believe how light I feel. What — “light”? Yes. “Light” as in a huge weight’s been lifted off my shoulders. I used to dread stepping into this building. It seemed each week brought more bad news or another setback, but now I’m not nervous about going to my checkup. I know I’m going to hear something positive for a change. I love seeing you this happy.

[ Sighs ] I know. I know it sounds cliché, but I don’t take anything for granted anymore. Every morning I wake up with you or see you playing with the kids or hearing you laugh… is a gift. And I’m the — I am the luckiest guy in the world. Did something happen at the club, or… I just got a call from n’neka, the bartender. She’s — she’s trying to cover everything, but there’s way too much for one person to do, and she doesn’t have the experience running the day-to-day business. Okay, well, is there anybody else that can do it? No one who knows how to do everything. Liquor needs to be ordered, books balanced, checks cut. N’neka’s completely overwhelmed. And, portia, it’s not like we can — we can just hire any manager. Curtis — curtis did more than just paperwork. He was the heart and soul of the place, a real presence. He not only welcomed the customers, some of them came just because he was there. No, no, no. You’re right. Curtis didn’t just run the savoy, he… he was the savoy. Exactly. [ Door closes ] I finally managed to get into ferncliff to see sasha. No, wait, back up. I thought gladys banned you. Yeah, technically, yes. So you had other ways of getting in? Yeah, I en– I enlisted brook lynn’s help. She was able to distract nurse ratched at the front desk long enough for me to sneak by. When I got to sasha’s room, I was… I was shocked. Wait, why? How was she? She was totally out of it. She was… she was curled up on the floor, just… …her face was covered in tears, she was shaking, and… she had this, like, blank look on her face. Oh, my god. She didn’t seem to recognize me at first, so I-I-I kneeled down to try and take her hand, and she just freaked out. She started screaming at the top of her lungs. She thought I was there to kill her. Um… so, uh, that’s when brook lynn and some orderly came and he made us leave. That’s — that’s awful. But what is happening with sasha? She’s being drugged. And I need your help to prove it. Why don’t you tell me what happened before we get going on all the paperwork?

[ Chuckles ] I see how it’s gonna be. Cody’s your friend, so you’re gonna try and talk me out of this. No, actually, gladys, it’s standard procedure. Cody took advantage of an extremely vulnerable woman. He snuck into ferncliff and upset sasha. She’s been in a severely traumatized state, and his visit made it worse. What’s going on? He didn’t have permission to visit her, but he slipped past the front desk and got into her room, so she thought he was there to pay her back for stabbing him, and it sent her into another breakdown. That nasty lady at home & heart tried to rattle her. Sasha held it together, and then all of a sudden, she started to spiral. Okay, but we’re gonna need something more than your suspicions to go on. Okay, look, if you don’t buy my theory, then I’ll just take care of this myself. I shouldn’t have called you, sam. No, it’s not that. It’s not that. And now she has to see him in a wheelchair. I-I just — I’m just so worried for her. Well, of course, I wish I could spend — trina, I wish I could spend the whole day with you, but I think that you would feel a lot better if you went to go check on your mom.

[ Squeals ] Oh, hey. Sounds like somebody got some good news? I sure did! I got the green light to go out in public again. Willow, that’s huge! I know! Is there any restrictions, or… dr. Randolph said it could take up to a year for my immune system to fully recover, but it’s already been three months, and she’s happy with my blood cell count. Okay, are there any limitations about what you — what you could do, where you can go? She advised against travel for a while, so paris will have to wait, and I don’t think I’ll be going to concerts anytime soon, but she encouraged me to get out for walks. She said it’s a great way for me to build up my strength, and you know how much wiley loves to explore down by the boathouse, and I finally have the energy to push amelia in her stroller, so it is just a win for the entire family. You’re not — you’re not — you’re not planning on returning to work yet, though, right? Don’t worry. I’m not going to push it. Dr. Randolph made it clear I shouldn’t even think about going back to work until I’m 100% in remission. But I’m not complaining. For now, I am just thrilled to be out of house jail, though the warden’s pretty cute. Oh, yeah, and plus, he can provide special privileges.

[ Chuckles ] Man, willow, I-I’m just so, so happy you got a good report. Oh, and I got to see clara. Clara? Clara, remember? She was a nurse who was assigned to me during isolation? I know my mom’s trying to be strong for curtis, but I see that it’s taking a toll on her, and I think she’s really struggling right now. Well, has she been able to spend much time with curtis? [ Sighs ] This is really tearing her up inside. Well, it can’t be easy on you, either. No, but I don’t want to burden my mom with my feelings. She’s already going through enough. Well, I think that the best thing that you can do right now is be there for her. Even if you’re not talking, just hold her hand. That sort of thing. You know, you give really good advice for a boy. You’re inviting a complete stranger into your home, and you’re going to start asking some very personal questions. Right, but before we get to the personal questions, let me tell you a little about us. I’m a doctor at G.H. Molly is an attorney working in the da’s office. So our child will be taken care of financially. And when it comes to family, we both have lots of loved ones in town who will love and help us raise our baby. Oh, that’s terrific. I’m married to a great guy, ben. Uh, and we have one child, randy. Um, I recently lost my job — cutbacks — so we’re just trying to supplement our incomes. So are there any significant health issues in your family history? Not much. Um… my maternal grandfather died of lung cancer, but he was a heavy smoker. He died my senior year of high school. Watching him suffer like that — I’ve never had a single cigarette in my life. If it works out that you’re our surrogate, how would you feel about us attending doctor’s appointments so we could watch the baby’s progress? Oh [Chuckles] It never occurred to me that both of you wouldn’t be at every single doctor’s appointment. I have no idea why I said it was a lunch date. It’s clearly not a date. It’s work related. I don’t know how you can be so calm knowing that our daughter is with that dangerous woman. Avery is never going to be alone with betty. Dex has been tailing her, you know, all day. Gabe is outside the door. Dex is going to let her go in the penthouse and try to look for things. And then, he’s going to go in and make his presence known. Okay. Okay. I’ll just — I’ll feel so much better when this is over. I will, too, but in the meantime, gabe and — and dex are gonna make sure that avery is safe. And we’re just going to wait for betty to find what I planted for her. I’m so sorry that chase is gonna be late. Um, you know how super dedicated he is to his work. Oh, no, no. No need to apologize. [ Chuckles ] Esme, I understand that, because of your experiences with other cassadines, that you find it hard to trust me. What I can tell you is that I’ve been very upfront about the reasons that I hired you, and other than that, I have no agenda.

[ Exhales sharply ] You can understand why I’m a little suspicious. I can, but it’s a beautiful day, and I didn’t want to have another salad at my desk. So, you just invited me here because you wanted to get out of the office? That, and I believe that an employer needs to let their employee know when they’re doing a good job. You, esme, as of late, have been doing a good job. So, thank you for digging in and trying harder. You really mean that? Well, if you don’t have any other questions, I just want to assure you that I’ve thought about this a lot, and if I was ever gonna be a surrogate, now kind of feels like the perfect time. My child’s just a baby, so he won’t remember it or think he’s having a little brother or sister. That’s very sensitive of you. Thank you. Well, it was nice to meet you. We’ll be in touch. Me, in my experience,we are the sum of our parts. Which means what? It means that people may forgive you, but they’re not going to forget what you’ve done. Now, you’ve had a very high-profile, very negative past. And I understand you may not remember that version of you, but others will, and they will be slow to trust you. Great pep talk. Do you ever miss your old life? What did I study in college? Uh, well, I did go to pcu for a year, but it didn’t really work out. Oh, that’s too bad. I’m sure it’s my being a professor all those years has made me biased. Have you thought about going back to complete your degree? Uh, college was never really my thing. Let’s just say I had a pretty unconventional childhood. My parents split when I was pretty young, and, um, I went back and forth a lot between brooklyn and upstate new york, so… yeah, no, I would imagine that, uh, living with a single mom versus life in a posh family mansion would be challenging for a little girl. Yes. Especially with two extremely different extended families — the cerullos and the quartermaines. I mean, the cerullos are — are loving and loud and artsy, and the quartermaines are intense and loud and, um, business-centric. Yes, I know. I’ve met your grandmother. Right. My grandmother really, uh, gets under your skin, huh? Well, I have to say, I’ve never seen somebody get under my grandmother’s skin the way that you have. You really push my grandmother’s buttons.

[ Exhales sharply ] Hello. You must be chelsea brennan. That’s me. I’m divorced, though my ex and i do a pretty good job co-parenting our two kids. I’m in good health, and I’ll be honest, I’m doing this to get ahead financially. Although I do love being pregnant, and my kids bring me so much joy. How was your second pregnancy different than your first one? I was so nervous and anxious during my first pregnancy. Every rumble, every bump, I was afraid that it wasn’t normal because I’d never been pregnant before. But with baby number two, it was so easy. I was like, I know what this feeling means now. Would you be open to reading to our baby while you’re pregnant, or listening to certain music? Oh, my gosh. Yes. That’s — that’s a total yes.

[ Chuckles ] During both pregnancies, I read to the babies, and I played music for them — everything from classical to classic rock. I’m a big aerosmith fan.

[ Chuckles ] I love baseball, and both my pregnancies were during the summer, so we watched a lot of baseball. Do you follow any special dietary plan when you’re pregnant? I don’t normally eat red meat. Fish and chicken, mostly. But I went with what the baby was craving. Baby number one was really into chicken [Chuckles] But baby number two wasn’t so much into meat. I got most of my protein from tofu. Full disclosure, I don’t think I’ll ever eat tofu again.

[ All laughing ] Hi, I’m — I’m portia. I’m curtis’ wife. I’m roy. Nice to meet you, portia. Nice to meet you, too. I was wondering if it’s okay if I stay and watch the rest of the session? Curtis looks like he’s doing really, really well. So, what can I do to help? I’ve been working with people with spinal cord injuries for a lot of years. It’s an emotional experience as well as a physical one. So I have to ask — what exactly do you think you can do for curtis? Well, your grandmother definitely pushes my buttons.

[ Laughs ] Well, my grandmother has never shied away from conflict. If anything, she actually runs towards it. And I know for people who aren’t used to that, it could be a lot, but she can be very loving. I mean, not in your typical grandmother way. I mean, she’s not the type of grandmother who’s gonna sit back and knit or bake you cookies, if you know what I mean.

[ Laughs ] I do. But, um, if I could say one thing about tracy quartermaine, it is that if she really loves you, she will always have your back. Okay, but what does that mean in actuality? Why do you need tracy to have your back? I am so sorry I’m late. Work held me up. Oh, no, of course. It’s all good. Um, hey, we know how important your job is to you, especially all those months away from it. Anything you can talk about? Well, I can’t go into details, but I am actually working on several different cases.

[ Chuckles ] Whoever betty is working for is very determined to find out about my deal with pikeman. So what I did is I put out some false information that betty’s going to find. Right? And then she’s going to take that false information right back to her boss. And then we’re going to figure out who she’s working for. It’s what you call cutting the snake off at the head. Okay, well, that sounds great, but really, what I need, what I really need is nikolas’s body back. Avery, I think if you weren’t so tired, you wouldn’t be fighting me on this. You really need to rest and take a nap. No, I want to watch cartoons. Alright, then. If you won’t nap, will you watch them on your tablet using headphones? How much longer before you go inside? Yes, I miss being a lawyer very much. I miss standing up in front of a judge, in front of a jury and advocating for people’s rights. Having said that, I think that I’ve done a reasonably good job in turning the invader into something more positive. Are there any similarities? Hmm. That’s a very good question. Yes, actually, yes. In all legal cases, facts are important, right? So is the presentation equally important. I need to make sure that a judge and a jury think that the facts I’m presenting are interesting and important. So that’s the same when you’re dealing with stories in a newspaper — headlines have to be authentic, but we also have — have to grab the attention of the reader. Was that how you turned the paper around? Spencer told me that the invader used to be sort of a trash newspaper, but now it’s a well-regarded news source. That’s very nice to hear. And speaking of my favorite nephew, how is it cohabitating with him now that laura and kevin aren’t there to referee you? Thank you for ordering for me. You always know what I want. But to be perfectly honest, my son’s father is not in the picture, so the extra money would be a big help for us. What is your overall diet like? Honestly, it’s just based on what I can afford. But if you guys want me to eat healthier foods, I’d totally be down for that as long as you picked up the tab. I’m a doctor, so it’s important we know your medical history. Do you have any serious medical conditions that run in your family? Well, my grandpa died of prostate cancer. I remember his doctor told us that every man, if they live long enough, would eventually get it. He lived to be 87. Who is your current ob-gyn, and do you know which hospital they’re affiliated with? Oh, I just go to the free clinic to save money. But if you guys are picking up my hospital bills, I’ll go to any fancy general hospital doctor you want. Also, for how many months after I deliver will you continue picking up my doctor’s bills until my body goes back to normal? Like I’ve said before, avery is never going to be alone with betty. I know you’re nervous, and I get that. But you got to trust that I’m handling this. Nothing can happen to her, sonny. Nothing’s going to happen. I-I said that already. Okay. And what about nikolas’s body, you know, with his body still out there? I mean, who knows? Maybe their plan ends up with me in prison. Ava. Focus. But, you know, it is kind of funny how things work out. I mean, you only offered me this job as a favor to laura so that I would stay in town with ace, but… turns out I’m really enjoying this job. Curtis is at the point in his recovery where accepting any help, including from his doctors, is going to be very difficult for him. A real struggle. Betty: Yes, that was my plan. I’m picking up Avery at Wyndemere for Miss Jerome this morning, then I’ll take her to day camp.

Betty: 3:00.

Sonny: Oh.

Betty: A-and then I’ll bring her back here, if that’s okay with you.

Sonny: You’re gonna stay with her till it’s finished.

Betty: Yes, I’m planning to. Unless you or Miss Jerome need me to do something for you?

Sonny: No, no, you stay — you stay with Avery. I-I — look, I — I have something I gotta do. I got a business meeting that I can’t miss. I won’t be back here till after 5:00. So you stay with Avery here for a couple of hours. Can — can you do that for me?

Betty: Of course. That won’t be a problem at all. I really look forward to the time I get to spend with Avery. She’s such a sweetheart.

Sonny: So you’re clear on what, uh, Ava needs you to do, right?

Betty: Yes.

Sonny: You know what’s funny? I was, uh, worried to change nannies because Avery’s s– she’s so, you know, attached to Pilar. But you seem so nice and sweet, and… Avery seems to be taken with you.

Betty: I know how hard change can be for a child, so I’m really glad to hear that Avery is adjusting well.

Sonny: I’ll see you around 5:00, right?

Betty: Thank you, Mr. Corinthos.

Carly: Mm. It was weird. Olivia is in my old office.

Josslyn: Oh, that’s tough. I’m sorry. Well, at least Nina didn’t take advantage of that opportunity to steal that again.

Carly: Yeah.  Well, Olivia said she would never let that happen. But, man, I miss The Metro Court. I miss my staff. I miss the day-to-day problems and all the excitement that comes with it. I miss the guests. God, it made me more determined than ever to get my hotel back. And I will.

Josslyn: I have no doubt.

Carly: Anyway… Olivia and I were just hanging out and were reminiscing about the day we met. And, I don’t know, she’s going through so much with Ned, and I’m so worried about Drew that we needed a distraction, so we went to The Highsider.

Josslyn: Did you find your distraction before the cops showed up?

Carly: [ Sighs ] Things got really crazy really quickly. But believe it or not, it wasn’t our fault.

Olivia: Of course I haven’t given up on Ned. H-how could I? He’s Leo’s father.

Dante: You can’t just do it for Leo, Ma.

Olivia: I know. Dante, I am doing this for our family. For Leo’s sake as much as mine. I-I have to figure out who Eddie is now. I-I-I-I-I don’t know what’s going on in that head of his. He may never go back to being Ned.

Dante: Wow. I mean, do you think you can accept that?

Olivia: I don’t know. It kind of freaks me out, honestly. I mean, ’cause I look at him and I expect to see Ned, and all I see is Eddie. He’s all Eddie now. I feel like Ned has completely disappeared, and — and — and I have to figure out a way of living with that… so that — so that he’s not fighting against me and I’m not always trying to control him.

Dante: Well, you don’t —

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Dante: Uh, it’s the station, Ma. Sorry. I got —

Olivia: No, no, no. Don’t apologize. Take it, take it, take it.

Dante: Alright. Yeah, what’s up? What happened? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, th– I’m on my way. Yeah. There was a fire at Anna’s townhome last night.

Olivia: Oh, my god. Is everyone okay?

Dante: I don’t know. I don’t know. I’ll let you know, okay?

Olivia: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You have to.

Dante: I’ll see you.

Olivia: Uh, um, honey… thank you for rescuing me last night.

Dante: [ Scoffs ] Come on. Good luck with, uh, Eddie.

Olivia: Thanks.

Valentin: I shouldn’t have gone to ELQ last night.

Anna: What are you doing? You can’t… blame yourself for this.

Valentin: I should have been here with you.

Anna: You didn’t know this was going to happen. You got a business to run. You can’t babysit me all the time.

Valentin: This could have ended so badly. You could have been upstairs asleep in your bed.

Anna: Well, I wasn’t. I went for a run, thank God.

Valentin: Yeah, we got lucky.

Anna: I don’t know.

Valentin: Why? What does that mean?

Anna: I don’t know if the arsonist was… outside waiting for me to leave… or they assumed I was asleep upstairs.

Valentin: Well, let’s hope it’s the former. I don’t much like the sound of the second one. This whole thing started when my father outed your past as a double agent, and it looks like he got what he wanted. Someone’s made you a target of their revenge.

Sonny: I want all eyes on Betty, especially when she’s with Avery.

Dex: Absolutely.

Sonny: Is this from Brick?

Dex: Yeah. It arrived this morning. What is it?

Sonny: A special present for Betty. There’s a lot of information on this flash drive. Fabricated by, um, Brick. None of it accurate. And Betty is gonna find it.

Dex: Okay, how do we make sure she gets her hands on it?

Sonny: Well, knowing she’s gonna be here with Avery for a few hours, she’s not gonna resist searching the place. And she’s gonna be pleasantly surprised what she finds on my computer. False Pikeman data. [ Laughs ]

Dex: And then what?

Sonny: She’s gonna bring it to Mason and Austin… and they’re gonna bring it to… whoever they work for.

Carly: So, when we got to The Highsider, Ned was there, and I wanted to find out for myself if he really lost his memory and believed he was Eddie.

Josslyn: Did he remember turning you into the S.E.C.?

Carly: No, but Olivia gave me some alone time with him, and that’s when some guy came up to her, and he wouldn’t take no for an answer, and he kept grabbing her.

Josslyn: Ew. And that’s when you stepped in?

Carly: No, Ned jumped in before I could, and that’s when the fight started.

Josslyn: Okay. I don’t understand. Why — why were you, Olivia, and Ned arrested when someone else started it?

Carly: I don’t know. I don’t know. I guess when the cops showed up, the guy must have snuck out the back. And Olivia was really upset about that, and she got a little aggressive with one of the cops, and that’s when we got arrested.

Josslyn: Oh, okay. Never a dull moment. Mom, I’m so sorry for leaving you there all night. I really feel so bad.

Carly: That’s okay. Really. I mean, to be honest, I could have left earlier if I let Sonny sign me out.

Josslyn: Oh, well, why didn’t you? I mean, I thought you were all, “Let’s forgive and forget,” when it comes to him. I mean, so much so that you have Dex secretly watching him and reporting back to Michael. I mean, I don’t understand. If you care about him, then… why wouldn’t you let him help you?

Anna: Victor put a target on my back. He’s probably smiling up from whatever hell he’s in.

Valentin: Even from beyond the grave, he won’t stop inflicting damage.

Anna: [ Sighs ] Yeah. Naively, I thought his motive was to get me kicked out of the WSB. But I think it was a lot bigger than that. I hurt — I hurt a lot of people.

Valentin: You paid for that.

Anna: I don’t know. People suffered because of what I did. Can’t deny that. [ Exhales deeply ] People died. And who did they leave behind? Children. Lovers. How did it affect them? One life touches a lot of people, and someone out there wants me to pay for what I did. And honestly, I-I don’t blame them for wanting that.

Valentin: Okay, stop. Don’t say that. You don’t deserve any of this.

Anna: Really?

Valentin: Whoever is after you, whatever they think they’ve lost, it does not justify revenge.

Anna: Since when? Since when?

Olivia: Hey. Surprised to see you here this [chuckles] morning. Same outfit you had on at the bar last night, huh?

Ned: [ Laughs ] Yeah, I don’t have too many changes of clothes over at Sonny’s, but I’m glad you’re here.

Olivia: Why? What’s — what’s going on?

Ned: I wanted to see you. But I didn’t want to run the risk of going to the house and bumping into Tracy.

Olivia: Oh, yeah. She can be a lot to take first thing in the morning.

Ned: I can only imagine. So, how are you doing after last night?

Olivia: I’m okay. Better than I would have been if you hadn’t, uh, stepped in and defended me against that creep. So thank you for that. Thank you.

Ned: Don’t mention it.

Olivia: How are you?

Ned: Uh, I’m okay.

Olivia: Yeah, that guy, uh, really landed a couple of good punches on you. He hit you pretty hard.

Ned: Yeah, yeah. Well… delivered a-a mean roundhouse, but, you know, I’m definitely feeling it this morning.

[ Both chuckle ]

Olivia: Oh, you know what? Why don’t you let me get you some ice from the bar?

Ned: No, no, Olivia, I’m fine. I really am. I’m — I’m — I’m — I’m good. I’m just, uh, glad that you’re okay.

Olivia: I’m glad you’re okay, too.

Ned: Well, I should get going.

Olivia: Eddie. Wait.

Carly: Watching out for Sonny and making sure his businesses are stable is very different than accepting help from him.

Josslyn: Why? I mean, why is it different? I don’t understand.

Carly: Joss, we’ve talked about this. Sonny has got to stay strong. If he loses power, we’re no longer safe.

Josslyn: But you’re not married anymore, so why would that affect you?

Carly: Okay. I agree. In a normal situation, it shouldn’t affect me. But I already told you this. Because of who Sonny is, we’re all affected. [ Sighs ] If Sonny is weak, then his kids and everyone around him are targets. That includes Donna, Avery, Michael, you, Dante. Me. Especially me.

Josslyn: I just don’t like that you have to protect him.

Carly: I get that. But you need to understand this is the way things are, and Sonny and I will always be connected.

Josslyn: So that’s why you want Dex and Michael working together, to protect him? Help him?

Carly: Yes, exactly.

Josslyn: Is that the only reason?

Sonny: Ava got herself in a complicated situation. She is being blackmailed by Austin’s cousin, Mason. I’m not gonna bore you with the details.

Dex: Understood. But do you think Austin is in on the blackmailing?

Sonny: Well… [chuckles] Ava doesn’t think so, but I’m not 100% sure that Austin is innocent in all this. So I had Brick run intel on Austin, Mason, and Betty. They’re from Pautauk. Mason and Austin are cousins. Betty used to work for Mason’s family trucking company. It was sold out a couple of years ago. You know, it’s unknown who bought it out, but it was purchased through a shell company. No criminal record.

Dex: Okay, so Mason blackmailed Ava into hiring Betty to be Avery’s new nanny, giving her access to you and the penthouse?

Sonny: Yeah. So, here’s the thing. Betty doesn’t know that Ava came clean with me. And Ava thinks that Mason and Austin are working for somebody else.

Dex: Any idea who?

Sonny: Somebody who wants information on my Pikeman deal.

Mason: You gonna give me something for this headache, or what?

Austin: Oh, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no. This is not a clubhouse, okay? I’m actually a doctor. I actually have patients to see. So you guys are gonna have to have your little treehouse meeting some other place.

Betty: I got business to discuss with both of you.

Mason: Look, you might be the fancy doctor with the medical degree and all, but you’re just an employee like the rest of us. You do as the boss tells you. Speaking of which, Betty, do you have good news for us?

Betty: Better than good. I’m taking Sonny’s daughter to day camp this morning, then back to his penthouse. Sonny will be away at a business meeting, which should give me two hours to search for some information on Pikeman.

Mason: See? Didn’t I tell you it was worth it to get Betty in there?

Anna: You understand this, though, because you wanted revenge on me for years.

Valentin: Then I realized it was your sister, Alex, that wronged me all along.

Anna: Right. But revenge feels like the answer. That’s my point. But it’s not. You know, I-I-I-it feels… like it’s going to take away the pain. But sometimes, it really just magnifies the whole thing.

Valentin: It certainly did with me.

Anna: Right. Someone out there is hurting. Maybe because of the decisions I made. And putting a target on my back, burning my house down makes what they’re doing seem righteous because of the things I did in my past. Hi.

Dante: Anna, I am so sorry.

Anna: I know. Thanks.

Dante: I’m glad you’re not hurt. Valentin.

Valentin: Dante.

Dante: So, I know my timing literally could not be worse, but if you’re feeling up to it, I could use a statement.

Anna: Protocol. Yeah, I get it.

Dante: I can give you a lift down to the station.

Anna: Yeah, that would be great.

Valentin: I’ll go with you.

Anna: No, no, it’s — it’s okay. I can handle this on my own.

Valentin: Why?

Anna: I’ll see you later.

Sonny: I had Brick fill this flash drive with all kinds of false data.

Dex: Will it be convincing enough?

Sonny: Well, you know what? Brick is the best at what he does. Mason a-and Betty, uh… are gonna think it’s the real deal and they’re gonna go deliver it to their boss.

Dex: Okay. How does feeding them false information help you?

Sonny: Well, Brick i-installed sophisticated tracking software. So, whoever has access to this flash drive is gonna allow Brick entry into their records and network. Once I find out who these Pautauk yahoos are reporting to… …I’m gonna take care of them and their boss.

Dex: So, we gotta make sure Betty finds that flash drive.

Sonny: No, I gotta make sure that — that she doesn’t know that I’m leading her to it.

Dex: What’s the plan?

Sonny: I’m gonna take Donna over to Carly’s. And since there’s not gonna be anybody here when Betty brings Avery from the camp… …you’re gonna handle what happens next.

Austin: Oh, this is so great. Betty having access to Sonny’s penthouse, a couple of hours there by herself. She can gather up all the information she can find, pass it on to the boss, and then, my favorite part — you two both gone, out of mine and Ava’s life for good.

Mason: [ Chuckles ] You know, for a person who went to medical school and became a doctor, you’re pretty dumb. Please. Why on earth would I ever let you go, when I still have use for you?

Austin: How did I know you were gonna say that?

Mason: Because you delivered the grand prize. Ava and her little kid. Oh, that gave the boss major leverage on Sonny.

Austin: I never delivered Ava. The last thing I wanted was Ava involved in this, and I definitely didn’t want her young child involved.

Betty:  Too late for that.

Mason: [ Chuckles ] Right? Listen, I know you. Play the hero for Ava all you want, but in the end, you’re still about yourself.

Carly: I know my stance with Sonny is confusing and hypocritical.

Josslyn: Yeah.

Carly: But our lives are intertwined, and — and that’s a fact, Josslyn.

Josslyn: I understand that.

Carly: And we share a child, you know, one we love and adore. And all our other kids — there’s you and Michael and Dante and Kristina. And Morgan. The loss of a child… we’ll be bonded over that forever, you know? There is so much that Sonny and I share.

Josslyn: I know that. It still doesn’t mean that — that this isn’t impossible for you.

Carly: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, it’s hard. It’s hard. But, you kn– we’re moving forward in our relationships. Sonny’s gonna marry Nina. I’m with Drew. I mean, I’m just focusing on the future. That’s all I can do.

Josslyn: I just… I don’t know how you’re doing that. I don’t know how you’re doing that with him.

Carly: Because I have to. I don’t have a choice. This is where we are. And being in a never-ending war with Sonny is not productive. And it’s not healthy.

Josslyn: I don’t think that this is healthy for you. I don’t think he’s healthy for any of us.

Carly: Alright. I know everything that has happened. And everything that we’ve been through. But at the end of the day, Sonny is still family. And we can’t forget that.

Ned: Is this another pitch to get me into therapy or bond with the Quartermaines? Because if it is, save your breath.

Olivia: On the contrary, it’s the opposite of that. I know that it took me a little while to get my head around this, but I realize it now. You are not Ned anymore. You’re Eddie.

Ned: I’m surprised to hear you say that.

Olivia: Yeah. As much as I would like to wrestle you to the ground and force you back to being Ned, I cannot do that. You… you’re not him anymore.

Ned: No, I’m not.

Olivia: You’ve changed. And you’ve got to be true to how you feel and who you are now. You’re not — you’re not hurting anybody by living as Eddie. So…

Ned: I’m hurting you. And I’m sorry. And I’m sorry for hurting Leo and Brook Lynn and even Tracy. But if I’m being honest with myself, I have to live as me — Eddie. ‘Cause that’s all I know how to be.

Olivia: And I gotta respect that.

Dante: According to the fire chief’s report, um, the physical evidence found at your house indicates that it was arson. Some kind of flammable liquid was ignited. You weren’t at the house when it happened, right?

Anna: No, I’d gone for this short run. I just needed to clear my head. You know?

Dante: You didn’t see anything or anyone suspicious, right?

Anna: No.

Dante: I was at your house around 10:30 last night, and you had told me that Valentin went to ELQ.

Anna: Right. There was a water main break and it was threatening the mainframe computer.

Dante: Hm. Uh, what time did he come back?

Anna: Oh, he didn’t come back to my house last night.

Dante: And what, so Valentin — what, he spent the night at ELQ?

Anna: I don’t know. I… I didn’t see him till this morning.

Dante: What time did he go over to ELQ?

Anna: I’m not sure of the exact time. I mean, obviously it was… before you turned up. What are you getting at?

Dante: Uh, Anna, I’m just… covering all the bases. You know how this works.

Anna: I do.

Dante: Uh, excuse me. I’m just gonna make a quick call. I’ll be right back. Hey, it’s Falconeri. Can we pull the security footage from the ELQ parking lot from last night? We’re trying to find out when Valentin Cassadine’s car arrived at the parking lot and if it ever left. Oh, and — and report this back to me only, please. Thanks. Okay. Let’s find out who had motive for that fire.

Carly: Thanks for saving me a trip and bringing her here so I didn’t have to go all the way over to your place.

Sonny: I’ll take any time I can with her. You have raised a very, uh, smart and independent young lady.

Carly: We both have. Yeah. And she couldn’t stop telling me about how much fun she had at your sleepover last night. So…

Sonny: Yeah, we — we had a great time. What about you?

Carly: What about me?

Sonny: Did you enjoy your time in jail?

Carly: No, I didn’t.

Sonny: Then why didn’t you let me sign you out? Was it your pride?

Ned: [ Sighs ] Thank you for respecting me. I get that this is really hard on you.

Olivia: Yeah. It hasn’t been easy…[chuckles] That’s for sure.

Ned: And I want to apologize for disappearing on you yesterday. You were being really nice and supportive and listening to me play my music. And when you went off to get me something to drink, I snuck off. And I’m sorry for not letting you know that I was leaving.

Olivia: Thank you for saying that. I-I-I-I mean, I know that this hasn’t been easy on you, either. And I — [chuckles] I was afraid that, uh — that maybe you left because, you know, I was smothering you or — or hovering.

Ned: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. It really — it had nothing to do with you. I was actually, uh, kind of freaking out thinking about what Tracy had said, you know, about wanting to have me committed.

Olivia: Did you not believe me when I said I would never let that happen?

Ned: Yeah, but I was just afraid that Tracy might have changed your mind. She’s a force of nature.

Olivia: Yeah.

Dante: Okay, so last night when I was at your house, we were talking about who would want you dead and if there’s any connection between Pikeman and the sudden power shift at the WSB.

Anna: You know, something about this fire just feels different to me.

Dante: What do you mean?

Anna: Well, um, I don’t think the WSB or Pikeman had anything to do with it. Starting a fire is just too sloppy for the bureau. Like, if a trained agent wanted to kill me, they had ample opportunity to do it when I went for my run. A sniper could have easily taken me out.

Dante: Like they tried to at The Metro Court pool.

Anna: Right. Or I-I could have been hit by a car. You know as well as I do that there are people over at The Bureau that would take the fall for that, make it look like an accident. Those are their tactics. We both know that’s how they would have got it done. If I was a priority, I’d be dead by now, right? They’re not gonna start a fire in an empty house.

Dante: Okay, so you’re ready to take the WSB off the table as a — as a suspect?

Anna: I don’t know. I don’t know. But to me, my gut… this just feels like revenge, plain and simple.

Anna:  Once The Sun got hold of the story that I had, at one point, been a traitor, you know, they made it public knowledge. And — and it’s true. Some people lost their lives because of a few decisions that I made. I think there is someone out there that I hurt, and they want payback.

Dante: Look, I-I think maybe you’ve been carrying this guilt around with you for a long time, and m-maybe it’s messing with your head a little bit, clouding your thoughts.

Anna: I know. Yeah, I mean, there was a lot of processing going on, but my thoughts are clear.

Dante: Okay, then maybe you have to see that there is someone within the WSB that could be out to get rid of you.

Anna: I told you, starting a fire — that’s too sloppy for The Bureau.

Dante: But it’s deliberately sloppy, right? I mean, if someone in the WSB wanted to make it look like they wanted to get rid of you, they wouldn’t follow procedure, right?  They — they would — they would cover their tracks. And in what better way than setting your house on fire to get revenge, to send a message?

Anna: I mean, it could be anyone within that community.

Dante: Right. But that’s what I mean. That’s what makes this so dangerous. Look, you know better than anyone all about intelligence and espionage. You build something up, make it look like something else.

Anna: Right. Yeah, I used that strategy in a few black ops missions.

Dante: Me, too. Create an illusion. Make something look spontaneous, but truly taking tons of planning and logistics to pull it off.

Anna: Right.

Dante: What?

Anna: Logistics?

Dante: Yeah. I mean, goes hand in hand with trying to keep your enemy off your trail, right?

Anna: I think I’ve told you everything about the fire, okay? I’m — I’m kind of tired, and right now, I’m homeless, so I’ve got to get over to Metro Court and book a room.

Dante: Well… [stammers] Let me call my mom. She can get you a room.

Anna: No, that’s okay. Thanks. I appreciate it. Um…I got some things to take care of first.

Dante: Hey, um, thanks for coming in.

Anna: Right.

Dante: I’m really sorry for everything that’s happening to you.

Anna: I know. Thank you.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Dante: Yeah. What do you got? Valentin’s car… never made it to the ELQ parking lot? You sure about that?

Ned: Come on, Olivia. Admit it. You think Tracy’s right. I am crazy, and I belong in a loony bin.

Olivia: I never think Tracy’s right, so let’s just get that straight. But you did conk your head pretty hard when you fell there at the pool, and so maybe my knee-jerk reaction was to think that maybe you knocked something loose. But that’s not what I think anymore.

Ned: Thank you for the reassurance. Because I am not that CEO business guy that you say I was, and I’m never going to be.

Olivia: I see that now, and I know that it’s taking me some time to get my head around that, but… I accept that you’re someone else now.

Ned: I’m Eddie Maine.

Olivia: I know, Eddie. And even if I thought that one good jolt of electroshock therapy would — would bring my husband back to me, I could never do that to you.

Ned: Thank you.

Olivia: And another thing — I would never have you committed for being someone new, and — and I give you my word on that. And my word is gold.

Ned: Is that so?

Olivia: Yeah. I’m a Bensonhurst girl. I always keep my word.

Carly: This isn’t about pride, Sonny.

Sonny: All I’m saying is you didn’t have to stay at the PCPD. I was willing to sign you out.

Carly: I can’t let you be my safety net anymore.

Sonny: We’re always gonna be there for each other, Carly.

Carly: And I get that. And throughout the years, no matter where we were with each other, you have always been there to bail me out. And that means more to me than you will ever know. But I can’t let you do it anymore.

Sonny: But last night was different ’cause I didn’t go there to get you, I was there to sign Ned out.

Carly: But I got myself in this situation.

Sonny: Because you were protecting Olivia.

Carly: It doesn’t matter. I’m the one that has to get myself out.

Sonny: But I — if you need me, I’m there.

Carly: Sonny.

Sonny: Okay, I get it. You’re independent. The whole thing. Yeah.

Carly: I’ve always been independent. I just got to the point where I was depending on you for everything, and I have to take care of myself now.

Sonny: Alright. You don’t need my help.

Carly: Yeah. Glad we cleared that up.

Sonny: Good. ‘Cause at the moment, I go– I got — I got a lot going on.

Austin: [ Sighs ] You got me. I am — I’m — I’m all about myself. But, Mason, who isn’t? Right? I-I really want a life for myself. I want a life where I’m not constantly looking over my shoulder. I want a life where you’re never in my office ever again.

Mason: Sadly, it doesn’t work like that.

Betty: As entertaining as this is, I better head to Wyndemere. I want to pick up little Avery and not be late. Ava can breathe fire when she wants to.

Mason: Yeah, go. But please, bring us something on Pikeman from Sonny’s for the boss, okay?

Betty: I don’t plan on leaving there empty-handed.

Mason: That’s my girl.

Austin: One down, one to go.

[ Door closes ]

Mason: Well, we’re not finished.

Austin: W-why does the boss want info on Sonny and Pikeman anyway?

Mason: Honestly, I have no idea. But you know him. He’s not one to explain himself to anyone. But if he wants it, he’s gonna get it.

[ Siren wailing in distance ] You know, you’re in my spot. Are you really up here often enough to claim a spot? It comes with being head nurse. You’re here late. Who’s looking after the boys? It’s summer. Jake and aiden are away at camp. And since the night shift pays time-and-a-half, I figured… is this really your spot? Yeah. It’s usually very clearly marked with a ginormous “E.” Is that right? Mm-hmm. So, what makes this spot so special, other than being exclusively yours? I come up here to make sense of everything that happens in this hospital. That’s exactly why I’m here. Don’t worry, ava. I’m taking care of this betty situation. I’m handling it.

How are you handling it, sonny? This woman is gonna be around avery every day, and you know she can’t be trusted. I have eyes on betty. She does anything wrong, my guys get back to me. Okay, well, how long are we gonna have to do this? Play this sick game before we can get betty away from our daughter? It’s gonna be over soon.

[ Door opens ] Ava: Hey. Hey.

tomorrow, sonny. Alright. Oh, avery’s up awfully late. Well, you know what? She’s a lot like her dad. Doesn’t sleep very well. Well, I know that I sleep great as long as you’re next to me.

[ Whispers ] Hey. What are you doing? Work is over for the day. Is that right? Mm-hmm. Well, what are we gonna do with the rest of our evening?

[ Chuckling ] ‘Cause I got — I got a lot of energy. Do I have to really tell you, detective? We did nothing wrong! Carly: Th-this is crazy! I was accosted! Get your meat hooks off me! I mean, why aren’t you listening to us? Ned and olivia were assaulted. I was just having a beer. And by the way, you arrested the wrong guy. Yeah! Enough. Shut up, or you’re all going down to the holding cell.

Okay. So, carly and i wind up at the highsider because she and I are talking about old times, we wanted to blow off some steam, and carly chose the highsider because it reminded her of this old bar called jake’s that she really used to like to go to. So we get there, and we run into ned — eddie. Eddie. And eddie starts trying to pick up on carly. “Trying”? I was doing a pretty good job. Uh, no, you weren’T. I took advantage of the situation because I was trying to figure out what the hell was going on with ned. Eddie. Wait, you were working me? This is so not the point.

[ Sighs ] Look, I was telling eddie that I knew someone who went through the exact same thing. I was trying to spark some kind of memory in ned, or get eddie to go back to the quartermaines and let them get to know him, somehow. Okay. I-I don’t see where this is going. Where’s the guy come in that wouldn’t leave you alone? And how did this fight start, that ended with all of you here in my custody? Okay. I had to go to the ladies’ room because they put my hand down in a big wad of nacho cheese. I come back from the ladies’ room, and I see ned — eddie — is at the bar, trying to pick up carly. Meanwhile, this lowlife comes over to me, a really totally unpleasant guy, and he starts trying to pick me up, and he wouldn’t take no for an answer.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Excuse me for a minute.

[ Carly speaks indistinctly ]

[ Sighs ] This is detective chase. Uh, yeah, I understand. Okay. Thanks. That was the manager at the highsider. They’re not gonna press charges. Oh!Oh! Great. So — so we can go home? I can release all of you once someone comes down to sign you out. Would anyone like to make a call? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold on. Wait. I have to ask you something. Right now? Mm-hmm. Right now. I promised I would ask, and I don’t want to forget. You promised? Wait, so you want to… you really — you want to ask… yes, yes. …Someone else’s question right now instead of doing this? I do. I have to. Okay, so maxie, she wants to rent your house. Oh.

[ Exhales deeply ] Um…wow. Uh, whose idea was that? Mine.

[ Cellphone ringing ] It’s beautiful. Yeah, it is. So, dr. Finn, what’s got you up on this roof so late? Hey. Are you okay? Yeah, I’m okay. What is it? I lost a patient tonight.

[ Sighs ] I’m sorry. What happened? He traveled for work. Picked up a parasite. I was able to identify it. We started treatment, but something just wasn’t right. He didn’t seem to be getting better. Did he not get treatment in time? Time was the one thing he didn’t have. During treatment, I noticed anomalies in his blood, so I ran some more tests, and… turns out, he also had stage four cancer. And he didn’t know? No. He didn’t know. No one did. His cancer metastasized. He still chose to fight it. He wanted every moment he could to spend with his daughter and his wife. It’s the worst part about our job. It never gets easier. I hate it. I hate it so much. It’s — it’s like a little piece of me dies every time this happens. This one hit me hard. It’s — it’s like it was personal. Personal how? His daughter was a classmate of violet’S. It just made me think… what if — what if that was me?

[ Insects chirping ]

You know, it’s a natural reaction to think about your own life when someone dies. This was different. You know, hayden’s out there somewhere, but no one — no one knows. I’m violet’s only parent. What happens to her if I was gone?

[ Sighs ] Well, if, god forbid, something were to take you away from her, she would still have her uncle chase and her grandfather and me. But you’re not going anywhere. You’re just rattled. And I’m sure you have a will or provisions in place with your dad and your brother. Yeah, with chase. But, you know, he’s — he’s a cop. And he puts his life on the line every day when he goes to work. But he really loves her. I know he does. But maybe that’s not enough. I’ve been thinking that maybe there’s someone who would be better for violet. Like who? You. Will you be violet’s guardian?

[ Sighs ] Sonny? Sonny? Are you — are you sure you’re not upset with me for suggesting that maxie rent your house?

[ Sighs ] Y-yeah, I’m — I’m sure. I just, uh… I haven’t thought about that house in a long time. Okay. W-we don’t have to talk about it I-if you don’t want to, really. Well, no, we can talk about it. We can? Okay. Well, um, you should have seen what I saw when I went over to maxie’s earlier. It was a complete disaster. Georgie and james were fighting. Maxie had to put georgie in her room because georgie and james share a room. And, obviously, it’s, like, too close for comfort, and they just fight all the time. Mm-hmm. And then you add bailey lou into the mix, and… you have the three kids, maxie. That apartment, it is so small. It’s not spacious. And I just thought about your house, and I was like, “oh, what a great idea.” Maxie would be a great renter. And your house is open. And, I mean, maxie’s practically family, right? Dante, say something. Yeah. Yeah, I think it’s a great idea. You do? Yeah, and I think lulu would be really happy that maxie was living there. And I think maxie would take care of that house and her kids would have a place to — you know, a yard to play in. Yeah! I mean, right. Yeah, that’s exactly what I was thinking. Like, james would actually be able to use the yard to play soccer, and then maxie could get bailey lou some sort of swing set or something like that. And then georgie, she would be able to have her friends over, and…I don’t know, they could get a tent and camp out in the backyard and do what kids do. And I just — I-I think it would be — it would be really great for them. Yeah. And, you know, if lulu were to… wake up one day, you know… she’d be the one to decide what to do with that house. Are you sure you’re okay with this? Yeah. I’m sure. I’m sure. I mean, why should that house sit empty and hollow when maxie can be filling it with her family and memories? Are you sure? Yes. You are? I’m sure. It’s perfect. Perfect, right? Yes. That’s what I thought. Everything is perfect. Mm.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Mm. Mnh-mnh. No, no, no. Mnh-mnh. Mm-hmm. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Just take it, please. Take it. Mmm. I know. I know, I know. Take it.

[ Groans ]

[ Grunts ] Falconeri. Dante, it’s chase. We have a little situation down at the station with… your mother. Uh, my mother? Is she alright? Oh, olivia’s fine. My mother’s in the police station. Is olivia okay? Yeah.

What happened? There was a run-in at the highsider, and when the cops got there, let’s just say your mom had a lot to say with a lot of attitude.

She left them no choice

but to bring her in. Mason, what the hell are you doing here? Whatcha say, cuz?

[ Groans ] What do you want now? Uh, well…

[ Grunts ] I need a doctor.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Hey, nina. It’s late. What’s up? Sonny. He’s gone. What do you mean, sonny’s gone? I woke up, and he wasn’t next to me. Did you check the rest of the apartment? Yes, ava, I checked the rest of the apartment. And I even asked the guard, and he just told me that sonny had to step out. He didn’t tell me where he went or why he had to leave. Honestly, nina, what did you expect?

[ Sighs ] So, cuz, you can’t just waltz in here and make yourself comfortable whenever you feel like it. I am hardly comfortable. I-I need medical attention. Uh-huh. And who better to go to than my cousin who happens to be a doctor? Better would be the E.R. Or urgent care, whatever normal people do. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have patients, real patients, that I need to attend to. I don’t think you want me going to the E.R., Bleeding all over the place, what, just to ask the nurse to get my cousin, dr. Gatlin-holt. That’s not what you want, right? You’re asking me what I want? What I want is for you to not be here, not at all. I was doing you a favor. You want to do me a favor, mason? Get out of here.

[ Groans ] Look… I didn’t want to draw attention to either one of us. I was trying to be discreet. Yeah. For your sake. Oh, for my sake? Yeah. For you. Mm. Thanks. Here’s what I think. I think that you’re hiding in here from whoever hit you over the back of the head.

[ Scoffs ] So before I treat you, if I treat you at all, you want to tell me what happened? Not really. Okay. Well, then, I don’t want to bandage you up. Oh, fine. Okay. I had an encounter with a lady at a bar. And maybe things got a little out of hand.

[ Chuckles ] Carly: I don’t understand why we have to have someone sign us out. It doesn’t make any sense. Olivia: This is ridiculous. I’m a grown woman. And I don’t understand why –oh, boy, am I glad to see you. Not as glad as I am. You know what? Things need to change around the pcpd. I get hauled into the station for defending myself against some lowlife when there should be a manhunt out there for the jerk who was trying to accost me! What the hell happened here, chase? Well, your mom, carly, and ned started a fight at the highsider.

[ Carly scoffs ] Yeah, you’re damn right we started a fight. The guy wouldn’t take his hands off me. He wouldn’t take no for an answer. Let me tell you what — if this was bensonhurst, oh, boy! My cousins would have had that guy so far out — what? Okay, ma. Okay. Stop. Please, let me handle it. What are the charges? Well, the manager at the highsider said they weren’t gonna press any charges. I think they were glad just to get the three of them out of the bar.

[ Laughs sarcastically ]I mean, you know how this works. If you sign for them, I can release them. Okay, good. Let’s do that. I’ll sign for all three of them. Uh, no, no, no. No. Dante angelo falconeri, no. I did not do anything wrong. And I refuse to be released into my son’s custody. Let’s not do this here. Let me handle it. No. No. No. You just turn around. Turn around and go back the way you came. Oh, yeah? Hey, well, thanks for the offer, but my ride is here.

[ Insects chirping ]

I did nothing wrong, and I refuse to be released into my son’s custody for defending myself against some handsy jerk at a dive bar. And I will stay the night here before I get you involved in this any further. Okay. I admire your principles, mom — you should admire my principles, ’cause they’re the same principles that I instilled in you, and that’s why you turned out as good as you did. I don’t care. I will stay here all night. I am standing my ground. Okay. Come with me, please, for a second. Just for a second. We’ll be right back. Look… look, you are so hell-bent on spending the night here. That means I gotta spend the night here with you. You understand that, right? Go, go! Go home and be with sam and the kids. How can I do that? How can I leave you here in this place and acting like nothing’s wrong, and I know you’re here?

[ Sighs ] If I let you take me home, if I let you sign me out here, it means I did something wrong, and I did nothing wrong. I’m not guilty. Would you think about leo for a second? He’s gonna wake up in the morning, you’re not gonna be there. He’s already dealing with eddie in there. Y-you’d have to leave him in tracy’s care.

[ Sighs ] Alright. Alright. I will do it for leo. But I’m not admitting that I did anything wrong. Okay. Chase. I’ll sign it. I’ll sign for carly, too, okay? I-I’ll handle it. Take your mom home. [ Sighs ] Well, as soon as chase finishes the paperwork, then you can go with me. Uh, you can take ned.

I’m not going with you. I woke up, and he wasn’t next to me. I mean, ava, is it too much to ask to go to bed beside the man that I love, the man that I am engaged to, and then wake up and still have him beside me?

And now, here I am, alone.

He could have texted me. He could have left me a note. Anything is better than an empty bed and a blank stare from one of the guards. The man you’re engaged to, nina, is a mobster.

[ Sighs ] I know that, ava. Well, then, you know he doesn’t work 9 to 5. I mean, he’s gonna disappear in the middle of the night with no note or text, and then he’s gonna return with no explanation of where he was or why. I thought you understood all that. Well, knowing that in theory is a lot different than…waking up alone. Ow!

[ Muffled ] Mm-hmm. Oh. Mm-hmm! Take it easy. You doing that on purpose?

[ Normal voice ] No. If I was doing it on purpose, you would know. Oh! You must have a dozen malpractice suits. No, not so much. So, um… you wanna tell me what happened with this woman? Is she gonna be pressing charges? I doubt they’re looking for me. I was just hitting on a hot brunette with a feisty temper. I mean, looking at those stitches, it seems like she was a little more than just feisty.

[ Sighs ] She’s not the one that hit me. Someone — I think it was her blonde friend — hit me with the bottle. And the next thing I know, cop sirens were blaring. Ow. And you just stumbled out of there, blood everywhere? Anybody see your ugly mug? No. I managed to sneak out the back during all the confusion. I thought to myself, “hey, what better time to visit my cousin?” Right. The one I actually need to talk to. Lucky me. And I figured I could get an update on our girl, betty. How’s she doing taking care of sonny’s daughter? Hey, I know it’s a lot to ask. But violet loves you, and I can’t think of a better person to raise her, if anything happened to me. I know she’d be safe and loved with you and the boys. Finn, nothing’s gonna happen to you. That’s just the thing. No one — no one knows that for certain. Okay. Yeah, I… yeah, you’re right. Nobody knows what the future holds. But I also think you’re just unnerved over losing your patient tonight. Maybe. But if something was to happen to me, can I count on you? Of course. Always.

[ Fire crackling ]

That means a lot. I’ll sleep easier knowing that violet will be taken care of, and that there’ll be a place for her, that she will grow up in a loving home. I — I can’t thank you enough. No, you don’t have to thank me. I want to do it. But you have nothing to worry about. Everything’s gonna be okay. You’re gonna be okay. You know, when you say it, I actually believe it.

[ Chuckling ] Well, good. Because you’re gonna get to watch violet grow up and graduate from high school and graduate from college, and maybe become a brilliant doctor, just like her dad. Or maybe a brilliant nurse, like her — her aunt. Oh. I like the sound of that. But wait a minute. I just — I want to make sure you — you know what you might be getting into, alright? I mean, violet is unique. Oh, I know.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah? I know. Okay. I mean, do you know that — I mean, she’s very particular about how she likes everything organized. I mean, it’s — it’s — it’s borderline ocd, and you’re not the most organized person. Wait, what? Huh? I — just saying, you know, there’s, um, all that stuff in your house, the clutter, and you don’t really throw anything away. And there’s, like, still cam’s soccer balls lying everywhere. It reminds me of my boy. Okay. I just… I’m just saying, I want to make sure you’re up for it. How hard could it be? You’re doing it.

[ Laughs ] Yeah.

There’ll be lots of games and snacks, and you’re gonna make lots of new friends. I already have a new friend, betty, and I get to see her tomorrow. She’s so nice. So… what’s the update with betty? Is she settled in with sonny’s little girl? Who’s betty? Don’t — don’t play dumb, cuz.

[ Chuckling ] I’m not playing dumb. Betty’s your mole, not mine. She’s yours to keep tabs on. She’s ours to keep tabs on, okay? Yours, mine, and ava’S. Alright, you guys gotta take more ownership in this. You have as much riding on it as I do — it working. And your friend ava, I hope she realizes what happens if this doesn’t work out. Ava does not need to be reminded of what’s at risk here. Are you sure? Yeah. ‘Cause she seems a bit like a loose cannon. And I only know what betty tells me, but from what I hear, ava is not too happy, okay? You put ava precisely between a rock and a hard place, and, no, she’s not happy. You’re right about that. I think you need to rein her in. Oh. Thankfully, ava’s not a woman who will ever be reined in. Austin, if she slips up and tells sonny something… she’s not gonna slip up. You have ava’s daughter, her life right in the palm of your hand. Okay. Lo ok, the last thing we needis her exposing betty, or, worse, exposing us. Far as I know, avery is thrilled with betty. And lucky for us, sonny seems happy with her services, too.

[ Groans softly ] It’s good — it’s good to hear. You know, betty’s a — she’s a good little operative. You know, the more sonny trusts her, the greater our odds we’ll actually get something on his deal with pikeman. I don’t know what the deal is between you two, but I am ready to head back to the bars. So, sonny, if you could sign me out? Can you please take ned and go? Eddie. Can you take eddie and go? Sonny: Okay. Come on, carly. Let’s go. Carly. I promise you, it’s just a formality. All sonny has to do is sign your paperwork and walk you out. And then, off the record, you can just call a ride share. I am fine! I called my daughter. Josslyn’s gonna come down here, and she can sign me out. Carly, let’s talk. You’re not gonna change my mind. Can I leave? Not without sonny. This just gets better and better. Alright, carly. Come on. Let’s — let’s — let’s talk this out. Why are you doing this? I had just gotten ice cream and wine out for myself because dante is still at work, scout’s with the q’s, and the boys are at some sleep– oh, you can have that — sleepover camp. So you’re in luck. I’m so excited to catch up with you. It’s been a really long week. I know, it has. Wait. Where are your kids? Well, bailey is with grandma and grandpa, and — georgie: No! Get away from me! James! Mom!

[ Door opens ] There we go. Oh, marshall. Hi. You’re just in time to join us. “Us”? Yes. Trina. She decided to move back in. That’s, uh — that’s, uh, great news, yeah. I know, I know, I know. She’s upstairs. She’s unpacking right now.

[ Sighs ] Let me go get her.

[ Scoffs ] Reminds me of jake’S. Isn’t this the place that joss was with trina where you read them the riot act? Yes, and I don’t ever want her to know that I was here. Capiche? Capiche. Oh, god! [ Tv turns off ] I don’t, much, but I’ve been streaming this docuseries. It’s so good. But my internet went out, so I decided I would come here and see if yours worked. So, what’s so — so great about this show that you couldn’t wait for your internet to be turned back on? Oh! Are you kidding me? I’m in the middle of the finale. I couldn’t just be left hanging. The most interesting thing is that there’s this kind of revolving-door situation where pikeman recruits former wsb agents as operatives. Yeah, that’s kind of par for the course with those kinds of things. But you sure about this? Uh-huh. I mean, at first, I was…skeptical. That is, until I spoke to someone who was with the wsb who was recruited by pikeman and worked for them. Who was that? Valentin.

Is valentin still working for pikeman? No, no. This was years ago, when he was — when he first left the wsb. What was he doing for them? Logistics. Logistics, huh? That sounds like a euphemism for something. He was a contractor. Mm-hmm. Alright? And he worked for them on a project-by-project basis. And it’s just been a domino effect ever since then. The new director got rid of anyone who was ever associated with robert or me. So, did you meet the new director when you were in london being debriefed? No. No, I didn’T. And, at first, I didn’t really think anything of it. And then, as it turns out, the agent who was debriefing me, he was droning on and on about procedure, and something caught my eye. Right behind him was his briefcase. And sticking out of the top of the briefcase was a portfolio. On the corner of the portfolio… was the pikeman logo. Marshall: There is no way that you are responsible for a stray bullet. You don’t understand. It’s all the years of lying. Everything I did, the way I handled everything, it just — it led to that moment. If I would have just been honest…

[ Sniffles ] …Curtis, trina, and I, we could have been together. We could have been a family.

But more than that, I just… I appreciate them because it makes me feel like she cares about me. She does care about you. She loves you. And I love her. And molly. And I love you and sam and molly. No. I mean, think about it. If the bureau has access to a private entity like pikeman, what’s to stop them using it to further their own political agenda?

[ Stammers ] But don’t the wsb want deniability? Why would they give pikeman a gun that they knew that we could trace? Like, that’s risky. Yes, of course. Getting into — getting involved with — with — with a private security contracting company like — like pikeman? Even for someone as covert as the wsb. But they’ve always worked with risk since the beginning of their existence, because it pays off. I can see that this theory has gained a lot of traction with you. But there’s a lot of holes. There are, which is why you called me. Right. I will go to the pcpd and check in with some contacts and see if I can get any more info on pikeman and try and connect them to you and sonny. Marshall: Maybe you need to stop thinking about what you can’t do and — and focus on what you can do.

Alexis: I won’t say that — that breaking this or that or sweeping my arm across the whole desk wouldn’t feel cathartic, because it would. And I-I want to. But then my office would be all messy and I’d be the one that would have to clean it up. So I’m not gonna break anything. I’m just gonna calmly walk away and not read another word about that miserable son-of-a that’s making me crazy.

Gregory: You took my suggestion way too literally, Alexis. I wasn’t suggesting that you destroy your office. I have a much better idea.

Alexis: Axe throwing? Don’t you think it’s a — it’s a bit violent?

Gregory: It’s not violent. It’s a sport. Hm. And I’m guessing it’s gonna be pretty cathartic in helping you unload all that frustration.

Dante: Nothing much so far. We just have more questions than answers.

Curtis: You brought a deck of cards. No doubt to play Go Fish . Pop, you know that’s a kids’ game.

Marshall: Well, the way I remember it, this was your favorite game to play as a boy. That and checkers, although you weren’t very clear on the rules. You had this tendency to always declare yourself a winner, even when you weren’t.

Curtis: Oh, I don’t know about claiming I was a winner, but I’ll tell you this. I sure loved jumping those pieces across the board.

Marshall: You sure did. According to Trina, there’s an app on your phone that you can play checkers. Of course, you can’t pick up the pieces, I guess what’s the point, right?

Curtis: Exactly.

[ Laughs ]

Curtis: [ Chuckles ] You know, Pop… I remember when I was a kid sitting across from you, looking up at you laughing exactly like that. [ Sighs ] I loved — I loved hearing you laugh. But what I loved even more was spending time with you.

Marshall: I’m sorry, son. I deprived us both of so many years being apart.

Curtis: You know what, Pop? None of that even matters now. You were there when I was a kid, and you’re here — you’re here now. And I couldn’t be any more thankful.

[ Laughs ]

Portia: And Spencer is here, too, I see.

Spencer: [ Chuckles ] Hi, dr. Robinson. Um…yeah, well, when Trina asked for my help moving back home, of course I said yes because I knew how much it was going to mean to you to have her living with you again.

Portia: Trina, honey, I am so sorry, but I have been using your room as extra storage while you were gone.

[ Laughter ]

Portia: So I’ll make sure to remove all those extra books and towels a little bit later, okay?

Trina: Oh, that’s okay. It’s no big deal. I’ll help you move them right now, okay? I’ll be right back.

Portia: Okay. Okay.

Spencer: Okay, well, I’m gonna take this stuff up to Trina’s room.

Portia: That won’t be necessary, Spencer. I’ll take it from here.

Carly: You’re planning Sonny and Nina’s wedding. Wow. I mean, to be honest, I can’t believe they had the audacity to ask you to do that.

Olivia: They didn’t ask. I offered. And it’s not what you’re thinking. I’m not so much doing it for Nina and Sonny. I’m doing it for me. Carly, I need a distraction. I got to get my head off all things Quartermaine.

Carly: I understand that.

Olivia: I can’t stop obsessing over Ned. You know, I look at him and I see my husband, and then he opens his mouth… and he’s Eddie Maine. And [Sighs] Being in that house — my home — it’s unbearable.

Carly: I’m so sorry, Olivia.

Olivia: Luckily, luckily, Michael is taking care of all things Quartermaine, all things aurora. And Leo, I mean, somehow, that kid is able to comprehend that Eddie is not his dad better than I can, but…he still misses his dad. And how can he not? And now Tracy… [ Chuckles ] Tracy is trying to get Ned committed.

Carly: What? That’s so extreme.

Olivia: You think? And then just when I think I’m getting somewhere, I turn my back and he completely disappears.

Carly: How can I help?

Olivia: How can you even offer that after the way I treated you?

Nina: Hey. What you reading about?

Sonny: Just reading the post-fight commentary on the fight I just watched.

Nina: Oh.

Sonny: Yeah.

Nina: You got a little smile on your face. I’m guessing that your guy must have won.

Sonny: Yeah, yeah, he did. It makes me very happy ’cause it went down to the wire. It was a great fight ’cause I hate it when, like, you know, a fight is about uneven — the one guy’s just pounding on the other guy. Yeah. It’s, you know — it’s like I want it to be more competitive… right. …More like — like a dance. You’re not interested in boxing.

Nina: [ Laughs ] As a sport in a whole? No, not really. But anything that makes you so excited and makes you smile means a lot to me.

Dante: The, uh, working theory on the pool shooting is that the target was either Anna or Sonny.

Jordan: That’s two different ends of the spectrum. One spent most of her life fighting crime, while the other spent his life as a criminal.

Dante: Yeah. Here’s the thing, though — the gun that was used was traced back to a storage locker at a WSB facility in berlin. But there’s no prints. Can’t trace the bullets or the shooter.

Jordan: Hmm. What is the WSB saying about the gun?

Dante: Well, they said it was a break in a security breach and they didn’t know how it happened. But there’s no leads, no suspects.

Jordan: Don’t you find it odd that they’re not showing more interest, especially given that Anna was a former agent for them?

Dante: Yeah, except that it sounds like the WSB is washing their hands of Anna Devane.

Curtis: [ Sighs ] So, what’s up with your band?

Eight. You got any eights? Thank you.

Well, we played a couple of gigs around town, plus, there’s a club in Brooklyn that’s showing some interest.

Curtis: Well, it sounds exciting.

Marshall: Yes and no. I don’t think it’s a good time to leave town. Plus, the owner of the club is lowballing us, of course.

Curtis: Well, if they’re lowballing you, why are you still considering it?

Marshall: Well, they can expose us to a brand-new audience. And you know I can talk about the music business for hours. Why don’t we talk about what we’re both thinking? [ Exhales deeply ] I’m wondering what’s gonna happen to you, son.

Curtis: [ Sighs ] I’ll be honest with you, Pop… I’m wondering the same thing.

Sonny: Yeah, well, he seems like a smart guy, you know? He’s, uh, showing you how committed he is by putting a ring on it. [ Chuckles ] Why were you late?

Nina: [ Laughs ]

Sonny: Where were you? What were you doing?

Nina: Oh, um… well, I wanted to stop by Olivia’s office and talk to her about wedding plans, but when I went there, she was in her office with…

Sonny: Carly.

Carly: Olivia, you’re in the middle of a crisis, and you snapped at me. [ Sighs ] I get it. In some of the worst times of my life, you have been there for me, and I have come to depend on your friendship, so we’re good.

Olivia: Oh, that just makes me feel worse. Carly, I-I was so overwhelmed with worry that — that Ned was never gonna wake up, that I was gonna be stuck forever with some confused middle-aged rocker, but… but none of that is any excuse.

Carly: Hey, I appreciate your apology, I do. But who else were you gonna dump on? Tracy? [ Chuckles ] You were terrified. And I’m tough, I can take it.

Olivia: Yeah, but you shouldn’t have to.

Carly: Hey. You’re my best friend, and we’re always gonna have each other’s back. And I so appreciate that and I need that. And besides, I come with limitations. You know, I can’t make you a lasagna… [ Laughs ] …Or even make a simple casserole, but what I can do is promise you that I will always be there for you no matter what.

Olivia: Thank you.

Portia: This is always gonna be Trina’s home… no matter what. No matter how old she gets, when she’s done with college, I’m always gonna be here for her. So I am more than capable of helping her move back into her room. So…

Spencer: Yeah, yeah, of course. Dr. Robinson, I completely understand that. I’m just — Trina asked me for my help moving back in, so I think that she’s expecting me to stick around.

Portia: I understand that, you know, I really do, but since my husband is in the hospital and he’s currently paralyzed, I kind of would like some one-on-one time with my daughter. I just don’t think you understand how much I really worry about her. About Trina’s safety and her security.

Spencer: Yeah. Well, my Uncle Victor is dead, so that threat is gone.

Portia: I wish the Cassadines were the only thing I needed to worry about, though. Curtis was shot by a ricocheted bullet at The Metro Court pool, of all places. A place where we should all feel safe, right? And the police say that they think there’s a possibility that the bullet that wounded my husband was meant for your other uncle, Sonny Corinthos.

Jordan: Right before the shot rang out, I remember seeing Anna having a conversation with your dad. Do you have any idea what they were talking about?

Dante: Well, look, I mean, they’ve known each other forever. I mean, they could have been talking about anything. Maybe she was filling Sonny in on what robin’s up to, or — or maybe they were talking about this stuff she’s been going through with the WSB.

Jordan: How is Anna handling that?

Dante: Honestly, I don’t think she’s doing very well. I mean, who would be in that situation, after being put through what the WSB has put her through? I mean, she’s been in law enforcement her entire life, and now she’s on the outside looking in. And on top of that, she was the potential target of a shooting, and she can’t investigate and she doesn’t have WSB resources anymore. I think she’s having a tough time, even though she insists she’s handling it well.

Jordan: Well, Anna always insists she can handle anything.

Dante: We got to find that shooter.

Jordan: Well, if you need me, officially or unofficially, I want to help. I owe it to Anna. And Curtis.

Alexis: You were right. I’m feeling a lot less stressed.

Gregory: See? I told you so.

[ Chuckles ] Oh.

Gregory: [ Groans ]

Alexis: Are you okay?

Gregory: Oh. No, it’s — I’m all right. I just think I need a little break.

Alexis: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Have a seat there. I’m just — you know, I could use — I could use some water, too.

[ Axe thuds ]

Carly: You remember the day we met?

Olivia: I do, I do. It was here in The Metro Court.

Carly: Mm-hmm. That’s right. You were in town for Sonny and Kate’s wedding.

Olivia: Mm-hmm.

Carly: You grew up with Sonny in Bensonhurst, and he ran into you and he asked you to be the maid of honor to his fiancée, Kate Howard.

Olivia: [ Laughs ] Only Kate Howard was not her real name, and I spilled all of her secrets that her real name was Connie Falconeri, and she was from Bensonhurst, not some snotty blue blood from Connecticut. She was from Bensonhurst just like me, and she used to talk just like me.

[ Both laugh ]

Carly: Wow. God, that was 15 years ago. Can you believe it?

No.

[ Chuckles ] I don’t like women, okay? As a rule. And — and you and I have become, dare I say, friends, and we have a good time hanging out together and talking, and it really bothers me and freaks me out that Jax is trying to take that away.

Jax does not own me.

I’m gonna like having you around here.

Well, good. I’m gonna like being here.

Okay. If no one else in your life is gonna tell you this, I will. You are about to throw away the best thing that’ll ever happen to you.

Carly: Oh, my god. You spent the night with Julian Jerome.

Be quiet.

Carly: Oh, my god!

Who cares if I did?

Carly: What?

Anyways, you’re not immune to him because you went out with him, too.

Carly: No, no. Hell, I almost married Franco. I have no room to judge, but Julian Jerome is a slime. What were you thinking?

Carly: It’s a big risk, but it’s the only way I can buy my half of the hotel back.

It isn’t the only way. You can swallow your stubborn pride and let your friends help you.

Carly: Unless pride is the only thing I have left.

If you think that I don’t appreciate everything we’ve been through here… I mean, you back me as your partner, and… and you love me as your friend.

I’m always gonna love you as my friend, and that’s never gonna change, and you’re making me cry. I told you not to make me cry.

Me too. [ Sniffles ]

Carly: [ Exhales deeply ] I guess we’ll always be connected through Sonny.

Olivia: Oh, come on. You don’t give us enough credit. Sure, we’ll always have a connection because of Sonny, but becoming your friend was one of the best decisions I ever made. I really do value your friendship. And be honest… does it really not bother you that I’m helping Nina and Sonny plan their wedding?

Curtis: When I check out of the hospital, I’m supposed to go to a rehab facility. And I got to say, Pop… I’m dreading that.

Marshall: Why? Aren’t they supposed to help teach you how to get around and go about your life?

Curtis: That’s just it. I feel like by going to that rehab facility, it’s like me announcing to the world that I have given up hope about ever walking again, and that I have accepted that this is what my life is about. Life in a wheelchair.

Marshall: Son. Son, just because you learn to live with being in a wheelchair doesn’t mean you have to stop hoping that you can walk someday again. I know you. [ Sighs ] I know you’re — you’re a proud man, Curtis. And you’ve had a very active life. Son, I feel your — your frustration, but I’m here. I’m here to remind you… you don’t have to go through this struggle alone.

Curtis: I know Portia — she’s so determined to be with me. To support me. Pop, just seeing her reminds me of the life we’ll never have together. It just makes it worse.

[ Knock on door ]

Jordan: Hello. Am I interrupting, or is this a good time for a visit?

Spencer: I’m so, so, so incredibly sorry for what happened to Mr. Ashford. But as I understand it, the police aren’t yet sure who the intended target was. The last thing that I want to do is to make your life more difficult. But one thing that I can promise you is that I am… Dr. Robinson, I’m nothing like my late Uncle Victor or my Uncle Sonny.

Portia: You’re not exactly a saint, though, are you, Spencer?

Spencer: No, that’s true. That’s true. My track record is far from spotless. And I hope that I earned some redemption for what happened in Greenland. But beyond that, I want you to know that I want Trina to be safe and to be happy. So to make your night easier, I’m gonna go say goodbye to Trina, and then I’m gonna take off.

Portia: There’s no need for you to say goodbye in person. I can let Trina know that you had to take off.

Spencer: Okay, then. Good night, Dr. Robinson.

Portia: Good night.

Trina: Mom. Where’s Spencer?

Portia: He took off.

Gregory: Yeah, yeah. Mostly just embarrassed.

Alexis: Embarrassed? You’re an ex-athlete. Tell me about your bucket list.

Gregory: [ Exhales deeply ]

Alexis: You know you can only have one, right?

Gregory: Says who?

Alexis: Says logic. Says common sense. You have one bucket list, which means that you can keep adding on as often as you want, so you don’t need a second. Your hand hurts, huh? Is it getting worse?

Gregory: Every single day.

Jordan: Go Fish ? Really? And I always thought you played higher-stakes games.

Curtis: Go Fish  reminds my dad of when we played cards when I was a kid. Before he took off. So if it makes him smile, it makes me smile.

Jordan: I got it.

Curtis: I know everyone’s on edge when they come to see me… because no one knows what to say. So if playing a card game, a kids’ card game, puts my dad at ease…

Jordan: Then that’s what you’re gonna do. I see that. Because you want your dad to feel better.

Curtis: Since there’s not much I can accomplish these days, it’s nice to do the one thing I can do.

Jordan: And that’s exactly why I’m here… because I need something from you.

Trina: I wish Spencer stayed. We could have moved everything to my room a lot faster.

Portia: Well, you know Spencer. He’s probably thinking about his baby brother.

Trina: Right. I know how important Ace is to him.

Portia: But besides that, it’s you and me again.

Trina: [ Chuckles ] We managed pretty well, didn’t we?

Portia: Yeah. Kind of like old times, right?

Trina: Yeah. Well, that is the reason why I decided to come home.

Portia: What do you mean?

Trina: I didn’t want you tackling the biggest job by yourself. This house isn’t handicap accessible. So what’s the plan? Are you going to install ramps for a wheelchair, hand grips in the bathroom? Maybe we should move to some place that’s all one level. I-I know how much you love the beach house, but is it really the best place for Curtis?

Sonny: I know, you know, Port Charles is a big city in some ways, but in other ways, it’s a community, and Carly and I share kids, and you’re gonna be running into her a lot, and I don’t want you to feel like you have to avoid her, especially in your own hotel.

Nina: No, I don’t, I don’t. I know — I know that Olivia and Carly, they’re really good friends. And I didn’t need to interfere. And, you know, I didn’t want to make things more tense than they already are. Things are going really great between Olivia and I, and I don’t want to ruin it, especially now, you know? And specifically considering what I went to Olivia’s office to talk to her about.

Sonny: What’d you go to her office to talk to her about?

Nina: [ Chuckles ] Our future. Specifically… setting our wedding date.

Gregory: I have a disease that’s making my world smaller and smaller and taking more and more of my abilities away and making me more and more dependent on other people.

Alexis: You must be scared.

Gregory: Scared? No. No. I’m angry. No, I’m… royally pissed off. But what — what — what good is being angry gonna do me? It’s just using up more of what I don’t have — time. Time with my sons, who I love, and my granddaughter, who brings me endless joy. How could she not? You know, my — my family life is still — it’s still pretty good. I have great friends like you, you know, started a second-chapter career. But lately, I-I… I can’t stop thinking about — no, obsessing… about the inevitable. You know, when I — when I first started getting symptoms, I… I was able to ignore them for a while… until I couldn’t. And then I was diagnosed. And in… that one doctor’s appointment, one little moment, everything changed. Everything. Everything was… taken away from me. And I’m not ready to give it up.

Portia: Curtis is gonna be in a rehab facility for the next month or so, so I have some time to get this place handicap-accessible. And just to be perfectly transparent, he hasn’t even agreed to come back here after.

Trina: I’m so sorry. That must be killing you.

Portia: [ Sniffles ] Well, intellectually, I know what’s going on. I know that patients kind of deal with this kind of thing when they’re facing paralysis. But I believe that this is the time that you show up for the people that you love, so I’m gonna wait for him. I’m gonna wait for him to get through this and — and let me in. [ Chuckles ] And I hope that he’s gonna let you in, too.

Trina: I hope I’m ready if he does, because I’ve been feeling so sad and disconnected.

Portia: And I’m sure that Curtis is feeling the exact same way. Honey, you know, ordinarily, Curtis would love to spend time with you. I think he’s just facing the feelings of being paralyzed.

Trina: I wanted to see him. And — and I wanted to see you, too. That’s the reason why I came home. Because I missed you, mom.

Portia: Oh, honey, I missed you so much, too.

Curtis: Well, as you can see, I’m not really in a position to do you any favors.

Jordan: Well, you might be able to help more than you think. I don’t know if you remember, but I was at The Metro Court pool with Zeke and Portia the night you got shot.

Curtis: Yeah, I remember.

Jordan: Well, the police believe that either Sonny Corinthos or Anna Devane was the intended target of the shooter.

Curtis: Jordan, I already know this.

Jordan: Has anything come back to you about the shooting? Any details or observations that could help us track down the shooter? How are you investigating the shooting?

Curtis: Aren’t you the new deputy mayor?

Jordan: I am, and I’m doing my best, but what can I say? Once a cop, always a cop. Besides, I have a personal stake in your case. And obviously, you do, too, so if anything comes back to you — any memory, any sound, anything at all — please let me know.

Curtis: I can do that.

Gregory: I know I-I-I keep saying I-I don’t want to tell my sons about my ALS because they’d look at me differently and I-I want our time together to be special. But lately, since these symptoms have started getting worse, I-I-I find myself canceling on them, avoiding them. And while my bucket list is getting longer, I’m opting out of things. Not just bucket list, but — but — but day-to-day stuff like hiking with Chase and breakfast with Finn and violet because I’m so scared that I’m gonna have some symptom I can’t hide or explain away.

Alexis: How about if you just start with Finn? I mean, he’s a doctor. [ Sighs ] He can help you.

Gregory: He’s been through so much already. I-I don’t want to be a burden to him.

Alexis: [ Sighs ] All right, you just said that you want to enjoy your life for as long as you can. So do it.

Nina: When you were talking to Brick, I was talking to Olivia about wedding plans…

Sonny: Right.

Nina: …And we quickly realized that we can’t make wedding plans without first setting a wedding date.

Sonny: I already told you that I love you, and I want you to have the, you know — the perfect wedding of your dreams, but I just want to be perfectly clear — I will go to a courthouse and marry you. [ Chuckles ] I will go to Vegas and marry you. I just want you to know that I’m committed and serious about marrying you.

Nina: Mm. But… we got to pick a date tomorrow.

[ Chuckles ]

Carly: I know you love Sonny, and you want him to be happy, so of course you’re gonna support him. And like you said, this is more about distracting you from the Eddie Maine situation, so, yeah, I understand that. I do.

Carly: Doesn’t mean I have to like it… but I can learn to live with it. And besides, I have so much going on right now, so…

Olivia: How is Drew?

Carly: He’s okay, given the situation. I’m just so worried about him, and I feel so frustrated because there’s nothing I can do except visit him.

Valentin: Okay, maybe I’m still a little jet-lagged, but, um, what message are we talking about?

Anna: The one you had me deliver to Sonny.

[ Door opens ]

Martin: So, how is big brother feeling today? I know they’re shipping you back to Pentonville. I can’t imagine you’re very happy about that.

Cyrus: Just tell me you did as I asked.

Martin: Yeah. I did exactly as you asked. Transferred all funds from your account to the Rodden Institute to End Recidivism.

Cyrus: Excellent. With the help of god and that money, many lives will be saved.

Martin: And what about your life? I mean, I’m far from being able to second-guess your generosity, but it appears you’re penniless. You sure you made the right decision?

Cyrus: “For the love of money is the root of all evil.”

Martin: All right. Okay, fine, Cy. Play it your way. I don’t have to understand your benevolence, all right? I just can’t shake the feeling that somehow, some way, there’s something in it for you. I did my part. Let’s leave it at that.

Cyrus: The rest is in god’s hands.

Elizabeth: May I ask what this is about?

Finn: Well, it’s a bit personal. Embarrassing, really, but, um… well, you have a kind face, I suppose I could tell you.

Elizabeth: Go on.

Finn: Well, I wanted to thank her. You see, I was having this crisis of confusion. I… I had feelings for a coworker, and I… I thought she didn’t feel the same way about me, which is understandable, so I… I was thinking about leaving G.H. to avoid running into her every day. Literally. I’m quite clumsy.

Elizabeth: And I’m guessing you had second thoughts about this?

Finn: I have, yes, and, um… I won’t be seeking a position at another hospital.

[ Elevator bell dings ]

Elizabeth: Well, I think I can speak for her… she’s very happy with your decision to stay.

Finn: Really? Well, I just — I realized that… G.H. has something that I wouldn’t find anywhere else in the world. Hey. Dad, what — what brings you by?

Tracy: [ Scoffs ] My son, the wandering warbler, of course.

Olivia: Well, since I no longer share a bed with him, I really wouldn’t know. But I presume that “Eddie” is still asleep since he was out all night club-hopping again. Why?

Tracy: Enough is enough. We have to do something now.

Olivia: What do you mean?

Tracy: It’s time to have Ned committed.

Elizabeth: Hi, Gregory.

Gregory: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt. You two just carry on with your conversation and pretend I was never here.

Finn: Dad, Dad, it’s okay. I was just telling Elizabeth how I decided to stay at G.H.

Gregory: I had no idea you were planning to leave. I hope everything’s okay.

Finn: More than okay. I just — I… I thought I might be better off at another hospital, but then I realized what I’d be giving up.

Elizabeth: G.H. would have lost a brilliant doctor. And what would we all do without his scintillating bedside manner?

Finn: Mm, yes. This from a woman who once referred to me as a “curmudgeon”.

Elizabeth: Oh, I didn’t say that. Everybody else calls you that, but not me.

Finn: Ah.

Elizabeth: I find you very charming, Dr. Finn.

Finn: Really? What?

Gregory: You’re smiling.

Finn: I can’t help it. She just said I was charming.

Gregory: [ Chuckles ]

Tracy:  You — you know… to a mental ward. Olivia, Ned needs help. Analysis under a doctor’s supervision.

Olivia: I don’t know. Tracy, do you really think that’s the way to go? I-I mean — I mean, what are they gonna do, t-throw him in a padded cell in a straitjacket, or — or…

Martin: Yeah. Listen, Cy, you’re sure that the, uh, heart attack didn’t damage your… well, your memory, for one thing, although you did manage to put together those forms, give me access to your money, so…

Cyrus: I remember the kind of man I was. And I know the road to forgiveness is long and treacherous.

Martin: Oh, and I hope you remember the kind of man your brother is. I’ve always been a bit of a cynic, so…

Martin: As your attorney, I said it appears that you are penniless. As your brother, I strongly have my doubts.

Martin: That’s right. But in my experience, men like you — no, excuse me, pardon me — men like you used to be seldom stashes every penny in a place where it can so easily be found.

Cyrus: Are you accusing me of holding back, brother?

Martin: I am strongly suggesting it’s a possibility, yes.

Cyrus: [ Exhales deeply ] You gave away every dime I had, brother.

Anna: Of course you remember. You called me from Chechnya and you asked me to deliver a message to Sonny. You asked me to take it to him in person, which I did. But our connection was so bad, you know, that I-I wanted to get some more information from you because I have a lot of questions.

Valentin: Such as?

Anna: Well, okay, so h-here’s the thing — Sonny… he’s being very kind to me recently, which is nice, but it really doesn’t change the fact that he’s running a criminal enterprise, so it makes me wonder why you’re sending cryptic messages to him, but more importantly, what did that message mean? Because he seemed to understand what you were referring to. I think I’d like to, also.

Valentin: I’m sorry. I had no intention of involving you in any of this, but I was helping Laura in Russia. I didn’t have a choice.

Anna: No, I understand that. Yes, your priority was to help her find Nikolas, and I think that’s probably why I just went ahead and did what you asked without questioning it. And I appreciate that.

Valentin: Thank you.

Anna: But the timing is really interesting, right? Because I was delivering that message to Sonny at the metro court pool, and two minutes later, we’re shot at. There’s got to be some kind of connection. Are you keeping something from me?

Martin: [ Chuckles ] Take care of yourself, Cy.

Austin: Sure.

Martin: Um… my brother’s being transferred back to Pentonville today, and I’m, uh — well, I’m concerned that it’s so soon after the heart attack. Are you sure it’s not too risky?

Austin: All of his test results are back and things look good. Yeah, I don’t know.  I don’t know Mr. Renault very well, but he seems like a pretty tough cookie to me, so…

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Austin: You know, I-I wouldn’t worry. I’m sure he’s fine. Excuse me.

Martin: Okay, well, thank you, Doc.

Austin: Yeah.

Cody: But I do have a good relationship with Dante.

Brook Lynn: Then why wouldn’t you just ask him to get you into Ferncliff?

Cody: Because that shyster Gladys has to give permission for any visitors. She doesn’t want me anywhere near that place. Last thing she wants is me talking to Sasha, but… she does like you. Brook Lynn. You are my only hope. Will you call her, please?

Olivia: But how do you know that committing him is even gonna help? Tracy, they could — they could load him full of drugs. They could give him electroshock therapy. I mean, you know, it’s still legal to give a person a lobotomy.

Tracy: Olivia, you’ve seen too many movies. Listen, it’s only a matter of time before he puts himself in really dangerous situations, or worse than that, he runs off with a groupie, and we can’t find him.

Olivia: Ned would never do that.

Tracy: You’re right. Ned would never do that. But Eddie Maine would. We have to get him treatment. You need your husband. I need my son. Leo needs his father. Olivia, please, just —

Olivia: No, Tracy! I’m not gonna do it, okay? Not now, not ever. I don’t care if he calls himself Eddie Maine for the rest of his life. I’m not having my husband committed.

Valentin: I’m not keeping anything from you.

Anna: Okay.

Valentin: Initially, I was to be an intermediary between a third party and Sonny Corinthos. They asked me to reach out to him on their behalf, and I did, and as soon as they came to a preliminary agreement, I assumed that was the end of my involvement.

Anna: Until you asked me to deliver a message to Sonny concerning who he should and shouldn’t trust while doing business with this third party.

Valentin: Well, that was information that I was compelled that Sonny should have.

Anna: How did you obtain this information that you felt compelled to share?

Valentin: I’m not sure I’m comfortable with this line of questioning.

Anna: Oh, my god. You sound like a lawyer. Come on. You’re not talking to your client. You’re talking to me. The person that you claim to love. Can you just tell me what the hell is going on? Like, why are you involved with Sonny? And who is the third party?

Valentin: A defense contractor.

Anna: What’s the name of the company?

Valentin: Pikeman.

Austin: What’s with the hiding?

Mason: You get anything from Betty on Corinthos and his Pikeman connection?

Austin: Okay, this is your game, not mine. You put all these pieces into play. You handle Betty. Although, I do hope you handle Betty better than you handled Gordon.

Mason: What, you think I shot him? Oh, come on. Guy wasn’t even worth my time.

Austin: You never liked that guy, and you owed him money. Wait until the PCPD put that little piece of information together. Motivation for wanting somebody gone, don’t you think?

Mason: If it was me, I wouldn’t be the one worried about the cops sniffing around. How long you think it’s gonna be till they find out you got in a fight with Gordon outside that restaurant? Place seemed pretty fancy. Bet you they had security cameras everywhere.

Anna: Are you working for Pikeman? Do you have any idea how dangerous that company is?

Valentin: I’m not working for them. Years ago, before Charlotte was even born, I had dealings with them.

Anna: You had “dealings” with them?

Valentin: I handled logistics. But I wasn’t working for Pikeman. I was working for an independent contractor, and we consulted on a few projects.

Anna: Why haven’t you ever told me about this before?

Valentin: I’ve done a lot of business with a lot of companies I’ve never told you about before.

Anna: Okay, and that’s supposed to make me feel better, is it?

Valentin: I hate you thinking that I’m intentionally keeping secrets from you. Pikeman came to me because they know me and they like my work. They know I have an acquaintance with Sonny Corinthos. It didn’t seem like an unreasonable request, so I did it. I thought that was gonna be the end of it.

Anna: I don’t understand. Like, y-you’re not the only person that can make an introduction to Sonny. There has to be a specific reason why they chose you.

Valentin: It’s not that easy to get a meeting with Sonny Corinthos. They asked me to be an intermediary, and I agreed.

Anna: Why would you do that? What were you thinking?

Ned: I heard everything that you and Tracy said. Thank you for standing up for me. That woman is a bully.

Olivia: [ Sighs ] Well… that woman usually gets her way. [ Chuckles ] But not this time. You have nothing to worry about because legally, I’m the only one that can have you committed, and I have no intention of doing that. But I do want you to get help. Just — just not on Tracy’s terms.

Ned: I appreciate your support. I really do. But the bottom line is… I’m not Ned, so no matter what you may try to do — therapy, hypnosis, analysis — nothing is going to change me into someone that I’m not. There is no Ned, okay? [ Chuckles ] He doesn’t exist.

Olivia: That’s just it. Yes, he does. And there’s a ton of evidence to prove it. There’s birth certificates and passports and driver’s license.

Ned: Those are just pieces of paper, Olivia. I know who I am.

Olivia: You can’t argue with fingerprints. Whatever you may believe, you are Ned Quartermaine. You are my husband. You are brook Lynn’s father. You are Leo’s father. And we love you. And we need you back.

Ned: Sorry. Ned’s not coming back. So…he’s gone. You just have to accept that and move on. I mean, I-I won’t pretend to be someone I’m not. Okay? I need to sing. I need my music. Okay, that’s who I am, okay? And without it, without it… I’ve got nothing.

Brook Lynn: Um, I’m actually here to visit my friend Sasha Gilmore. We work together at Deception, the cosmetics company. I’m sure you’ve heard of it. You should actually try our perfectly peach lipstick. It would look great with your coloring.

Janice: I don’t wear lipstick, and I hate peach. The color and the fruit. Just hand me your driver’s license so I can check to see if you’re on the list of approved visitors. Wait a minute. Your name looks familiar. Do I know you from somewhere?

Brook Lynn: I don’t think so.

Janice: Are you the BLQ that works with Blaze and Chase?

Anna: You had to know anything connected to Pikeman wasn’t gonna be above board. This is a defense contractor wanting to do business with the Corinthos organization. I mean, it just screams illegal activities.

Valentin: Of course I knew the deal would be questionable, but I didn’t care.

Anna: Why? Please help me understand. I mean, it’s not the money. You don’t need that.

Valentin: It wasn’t about the money. I was hoping they could provide me something more valuable than that.

Anna: What?

Valentin: When Pikeman first reached out to me, Victor had just framed you for Lucy’s so-called “murder”. He was blackmailing Holly Sutton. He was holding her son hostage. He looked unstoppable. I was looking for a way to stop him.

Anna: So you thought that Pikeman could help you bring down Victor?

Valentin: Yes. I thought there was a chance.

Anna: Why?

Valentin: Because they’re connected to the WSB.

Elizabeth: I’ve never seen someone so excited about…fungus. Thank you.

Finn: Okay, careful.

[ Chuckles ]

Tracy: This has absolutely nothing to do with Alexis.

Gregory: The more I get to know you, the more I understand why Alexis is not your biggest fan.

Elizabeth: Poor Gregory. What’d he do to deserve the wrath of Tracy?

Janice: Know it? I am his biggest fan. The second a new song is released, I download it, and I recorded his performance with Blaze at the Nurses’ Ball. I must have watched it a dozen times.

Brook Lynn: Wow. Well, it’s your lucky day because Chase and Blaze, they actually recorded a new duet, but it doesn’t come out for months. I could give you a sneak peek. You want to hear it?

Janice: That would be great.

Elizabeth: I know Tracy’s your friend. But sometimes, she can come off a bit strong, don’t you think?

Finn: Sometimes? Look, um, Tracy’s definitely an acquired taste, but, you know, she’s — she’s a-a-a good person, and — and I know it’s hard to believe, but she has a soft side. You’re right. It is hard to believe. She’s also a ferocious backgammon player, and I really like the competition.

Elizabeth: [ Scoffs ]

Finn: And just like my dad, loves a good argument. And, you know, it looks like he’s holding his own, kinda.

Tracy: I’m not gonna stand here and defend my relationship with Alexis. It’s none of your business.

Gregory: Just like my health is none of your business.

Tracy: I cannot keep arguing with you about this. I have to speak to a doctor.

Gregory: Oh, so you’re the one who needs medical help?

Tracy: No, it’s not for me, it’s… it — it’s for my son. He needs to be committed.

Olivia: So, um… that’s Brook Lynn’s keyboard. This is where she writes most of her music. Actually, um… I-I’m sure that she would love to have a writing partner. You know, you could be the — the Lennon to her McCartney.

Ned: [ Chuckles ] Uh, I don’t know. I’ve always done my own thing. I don’t see myself as a duo.

Olivia: Well, she — she wouldn’t be singing, you know. She’d be helping you write songs and, you know, producing, and…

Ned: Oh, so she doesn’t sing?

Olivia: Well, she used to. She used to. It’s — it’s, uh… it’s a long story, but [Chuckles] it beats busking on a street corner, right?

Ned: I need more than this. I mean [Chuckles] I need to be on a stage. I need an audience.

Olivia: Well… you’ve got one.

Anna: So, when did this connection between Pikeman and the WSB start?

Valentin: I don’t know. I don’t know how far back it goes. I was at the WSB when Pikeman recruited me, as were a lot of current and former WSB agents who now find themselves working for Pikeman. It seemed to me some kind of… revolving door. Any agent who left The Bureau could find a position at Pikeman.

Anna: [ Exhales sharply ] Okay. So you worked for them years ago. I’m presuming this is around the time that Victor was head of The Bureau.

Valentin: Yeah. Why?

Tracy: You saw him at Rice Plaza. He is delusional. He has abandoned his wife, his children, and his business. You tell me — what kind of mother would I be if I didn’t get him help?

Gregory: He’s not your responsibility. He’s an adult.

Tracy: He’s an adult who believes he’s someone else!

Gregory: [ Chuckling ] You can’t lock him up just because he doesn’t conform to who you want him to be.

Tracy: This is not about me wanting him to be the perfect son. This is about me trying to get him to see that he is my son. He’s Ned Quartermaine.

Gregory: You have no business taking away his agency. He has every right to live his life as he chooses. You can’t make decisions for him. You can’t deprive him of his liberty and independence. Doesn’t his freedom mean anything to you? ‘Cause it should. Who cares what name he’s calling himself? The important thing is he’s living his truth without anyone else interfering. If he hasn’t asked for help, he doesn’t need it.

Tracy: I did not ask for a lecture, professor.

Gregory: I’m just trying to help you see it from Ned’s point of view.

Tracy: Don’t you mean Eddie? [ Exhales deeply ] Look, I’m… I’m sure you are really trying to help me, but… …I know what I have to do.

Gregory: I don’t know how you put up with that woman. Uh, if you’ll excuse me, I have some research to do.

Finn: Yeah, uh, Dad, you — oh, okay.

Elizabeth: Well, that was uncomfortable.

Finn: Yeah. Yeah, it was.

Brook Lynn: What do you mean?

Janice: Well, your friend is in a fragile state. She’s emotional and volatile, so you’ll need a medical professional with you during the visit. Ronald will stay in the room with you.

Brook Lynn: [ Chuckles ] Is that really necessary?

Janice: Yes, Dr. Montague left a note in her chart saying all visits must be supervised. It’s for your own safety as well as the patient’s. Right this way, please.

[ Elevator bell dings ]

Anna: You used to work for the WSB. You put together a deal with Pikeman and Sonny, and then you ask me, also a former agent, to deliver a message to Sonny. And then a couple of minutes later, shots are fired, either for him or me. And the rifle used happened to be at one point in the custody of The Bureau.

Valentin: You think the WSB and Pikeman are behind the shooting?

Anna: I think the connection is stunningly obvious. I was the target, and I refuse to be a sitting duck. So you know what? If you’ve got anything else that you’ve forgotten to tell me, now would be a really good time to do so before they take another shot. Because honestly, the next time, they might not miss.

Valentin: I have told you everything I know about Pikeman and their connection to the WSB, and it kills me to think that I put you in danger because I would never have sent you to Sonny with that message if I had known. I want to — Okay. Where are you going?

Anna: Well, there is a missing piece, Valentin, and I’m going to find out what that is.

Sasha: [ Sighs ] Um, confused. A little scared to be here.

Mandy: It’s not unusual.

Sasha: I-I feel like I am missing something important. Like I’ve — I’ve lost a-a chunk of time.

Sasha: I think what would help is if I could talk to my guardian. My mother-in-law.

Olivia: Really, Nina?

Nina: Oh. I’m so sorry, Olivia. I know that you’re dealing with so much more with Ned. I — I’m sure that he’s going to come out of this.

Olivia: Well, he’s not out of it now. My husband is running all over town all night. I have no idea where he is or what he’s doing.

Nina: Yeah, but when things like this happen, sometimes it’s just —

Olivia: Things like this? Things like my husband thinks he’s Eddie Maine?

Nina: But the bottom line is, Ned — he loves you.

Anna: Where do you stand with the WSB?

Robert: [ Irish accent ] Ah, top of the mornin’ to you, too, lass.

Anna: Oh. Good morning.  Where do you stand with the WSB?

Robert: [ Normal voice ] Well… since I became DA, I’ve had very little contact with them. Anyone that was there during my era has either been fired, put out to pasture, transferred — y-you name it.

Anna: Don’t you think it’s suspicious?

Robert: [ Chuckles ] I think anything to do with The Bureau is suspicious — in particular, their arresting you for treason.

Anna: Yeah, well, I mean, that’s over now.

Robert: Is it?

Nina: I didn’t realize that you were still so upset.

Olivia: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for it to come out like that, okay? But it must have occurred to you that your situation with Sonny, where he fell in love with you while he thought he was Mike might cross my mind given my current situation with Ned.

Nina: Yeah, and you still resent the fact that I didn’t tell anyone.

Olivia: I know that it’s in the past, but the whole situation with Sonny is shoving it right back up in my face.

Nina: Well, you know, it’s a little different with Ned, right? He’s here in Port Charles with his family.

Olivia: Yeah, but he doesn’t realize that we are his family. I-I thought, honestly, that this whole thing was gonna be over very quickly, that I would just stick around, I would wait, I would talk to him. I would be with him. Honestly, I look in Ned’s eyes, it’s like he’s not even there.

Nina: Well, you just — you know, you just keep trying, you’ll get through to him.

Olivia: I thought I was making a little progress yesterday. He — he — he asked me to make a breakfast, and he actually asked me to tell him a little bit about my past, and so I did.

Nina: Sounds like progress.

Olivia: No, but — but it wasn’t Ned. It was Eddie, and Ned already knows all of the things that I told him. Eddie — pbht. No.

Nina: Okay, you just take one step at a time.

Olivia: He was out again all night last night. I didn’t even bother to check to see if he came home in the morning. For all I know, he’s out there falling in love with some other woman, just like Sonny fell in love with you.

Sonny: Good.

Brick: I’m sure you recognize her.

Sonny: Ava’s favorite nanny.

Brick: [ Chuckles ] She also worked as a receptionist at a trucking company. Would you like to venture a guess as to where that was?

Gladys: Oh. What? Hey, her dad’s in prison. She needs to learn the world is not always a safe place.

Sam: I will decide what my daughter needs to learn and when, and if you say another word to Scout, I will throw your ass in that pool so fast you will not know what happened.

Gladys: Okay, all right. Maybe I got carried away. I mean, being here is really bringing back the horrible memory of Sasha stabbing Cody.

Sam: [ Scoffs ]

Gladys: The look in her eyes was… she wanted to kill him.

Sam: I don’t believe it for a minute. What really happened that day, Gladys?

Gladys: Well, after she stabbed him?

Sam: No, before. Who drove her to do something like that?

Sasha: Did you get in touch with Gladys?

Mandy: I called the contact number your mother-in-law left on your admission form, but unfortunately, I got voicemail.

Sasha: Did you leave a message?

Mandy: I did. I said you were asking for her.

Sasha: Thank you, Mandy.

Mandy: Is there anyone else you’d like me to call?

Sasha: Yes, please. Cody Bell.

Cody: Ms. Miller, did you hear anything that I just said?

Diane: Loud and clear.

Cody: Okay, well, Sasha shouldn’t be in Ferncliff, and I will not do anything or say anything to help keep her in there.

Diane: Okay, Mr. Bell. At the risk of sacrificing the one hour I have to myself today, I will engage. But you’ve got to settle.

Cody: Okay, yeah. I’m — listen, I’m sorry for barging in here like that. Please don’t fire your assistant. It’s just Sasha needs help as soon as possible.

Diane: And you don’t think she’s gonna get that help at Ferncliff?

Cody: Yes. N-no. [ Stammers ] Something is wrong about everything that’s going on with her. And the look in her eyes when she… stabbed —

Diane: Allegedly stabbed you.

Cody: Yes. That wasn’t Sasha. At least not the Sasha I know. Something else is going on, and I’m really worried about her safety.

Diane: What do you mean? And you got to give me something specific.

Cody: And I will give you something specific as soon as you get me into Ferncliff to see Sasha.

Spencer: What happened in Chechnya?

Valentin: We found the Cassadine house, and there was a new owner and there was no sign of Nikolas anywhere.

Spencer: And you just left them there?

Valentin: No, no. We left Chechnya for Prague, and that’s where Kevin and Laura decided they wanted to continue the search on their own.

Spencer: Where?

Valentin: Cassadine Island, but there was no trace of Nikolas there, either.

Esme: Maybe you can’t find him because he’s dead.

Anna: We can’t talk to Frisco because he left the bureau.

Robert: And the person who’s replaced him thinks that the way to clear up the bureau image is to fire everyone.

Anna: By disgracing and then distancing themselves from so many former agents.

Robert: ‘Tis the way of bureaucracy, my dear.

Anna: Erase the past. Just convince everyone that it was all bad, and then it makes the new regime seem so much better. At least that was the impression that I got when I was in London after the whole Greenland fiasco.

Robert: The late, not-lamented Victor.

Anna: [ Sighs ] You know, the debriefing — it was… just so weird. Like, the entire process. I-it was orchestrated in a manner that I-I just didn’t recognize. It just all felt so alien to me, and I’ve been debriefed more times than I care to count.

Robert: And this is the only reason you came charging in here?

Anna: No, there’s another reason. What do you know about Pikeman?

Valentin: Good morning, Esme. And good morning to you, Ace. Wow, he is getting big, isn’t he?

Esme: Do you think his father could be dead?

Valentin: I’ve seen no evidence that Nikolas is dead.

Spencer: He’s just hiding the same way that he did when he had us convinced that you had killed him. I spent three years grieving that man.

Esme: Look, Spencer, we — we don’t know if —

Spencer: Don’t you see that this is just what he does? He makes a mess of his life, and then he runs away from it, and he has certainly made a mess this time, getting his son’s girlfriend pregnant.

Valentin: You think he’d abandon Ace?

Spencer: Well, he abandoned me, didn’t he? That’s who our father is. He’s a coward. My grandmother’s off searching for him. She’d be better off just coming home, not wasting time. He’s better off gone for me and for my brother.

Gladys: Maybe it would make sense if you paid more attention to your “friend” Sasha and less to snooping around about me.

Olivia: Great, maybe he could cut a swath of one-night stands through Port Charles. Wouldn’t that be great? Don’t think that that hasn’t crossed my mind.

Nina: Listen, Olivia, if Sonny and I are causing you to overthink things, we can just keep a low profile.

Nina: [ Chuckles ] The books?

Olivia: I’m gonna plan your wedding.

Sam: Wow. Why are you so paranoid, Gladys? I think if I did some real snooping, I’d find some big trouble.

Gladys: [ Sighs ] All I’ve ever done is try to take care of Sasha. She’s family to me.

Sam: Right.

Gladys: You know what? I saw the look on your face at the hospital when Sasha wanted my guardianship rescinded. You thought it was a good idea.

Sam: Yeah, I certainly did.

Gladys: Can you not see that my love and concern is exactly what Sasha needed? Look what ended up happening.

Sam: According to witness testimony, she had no idea what happened.

Gladys: [ Sighs ] That’s my point. You and all the rest of her so-called friends thought she was fine. I was the only one who saw the truth. I was the one who wanted to take care of her.  Her friends couldn’t see it because some people managed to conceal their feelings and hide what’s really going on.

Sam: Oh, there you go. I think you’re — I think you’re right about one thing. Some people are really good at hiding things. Sasha isn’t one of them.

Gladys: You know what? That’s ’cause you don’t know her the way I do. And you never will.

Sam: Hmm.

Sasha: I already told you, I don’t remember stabbing Cody.

Dr. Montague: But you did stab him, Sasha. In front of a lot of people. You very nearly killed him.

Sasha: [ Sighs ] I guess that’s why I’m in here.

Dr. Montague: Yes. To get the help you need. So, why don’t we start with what you do remember?

Sasha: Everything was going well. I mean, some days were more difficult than others, like when someone tried to upset me on Home & Heart. But I handled it, and I was proud of myself for being able to handle it.

Dr. Montague: But it’s clear now that you weren’t dealing with it.

Sasha: I was. I think it started happening after I took those pills you prescribed me. I-I took them for a few days, and — and I-I started to feel groggy and paranoid and… and I started hallucinating a-and hearing voices.

Dr. Montague: The pills I gave you weren’t causing your hallucinations, Sasha. And they aren’t what caused your violent behaviors.

Sasha: But I was fine before I started taking them.

Dr. Montague: Sasha. We found these in your purse. It’s what caused you to try to kill Cody Bell.

Valentin:  You’re doing a good job. Look at you. After everything we went through in Greenland, you’re still a happy and well-loved young man, aren’t you?

Esme’s taken a lot of the responsibility. She’s determined to make sure that Ace has everything that he wants. She’s a good mother.

Walsh: What possessed you to go rogue, run interference, and ignore the very specific mandate Agent Hursley gave you?

Anna: Well, with all due respect to Agent Hursley —

Anna: I have to be honest with you. He didn’t seem to grasp the fact that people’s lives were at stake and that there were extenuating circumstances.

Walsh: There always is, Ms. Devane. Particularly with you. It says here that after your arrival, you sought out Valentin Cassadine. As you’re well aware, the bureau has been keeping track of him for several years, and there appears to be a discrepancy in your reporting on pages 6 and 12.

Somebody else turned in Carly and Drew.

Nina: And you haven’t spoken to her since?

Olivia: No, I haven’t. I don’t know what she believes now, but you know what? We’re gonna get through it. She and I have been through a lot worse.

Nina: Well, Olivia, if you’re sure about this, yeah, Sonny and i would be honored if you want to help us plan our wedding. Yes, um, I-I called a couple of venues, and —

Sasha: No, no, those aren’t mine. I-I haven’t been using. Someone must have planted them in my purse.

Dr. Montague: But you know exactly what these are, don’t you, Sasha?

Sasha: I stopped taking them.

Dr. Montague: Your blood work says otherwise. You’ve been taking these for months.

Sasha: No, no, no, n– I went through rehab. I beat my addiction.

Dr. Montague: You must know how common relapses are. It’s nothing to be ashamed about.

Sasha: But I didn’t take them.

Dr. Montague: Sasha, if I’m going to help you, I need to deal with the facts that I have. And you need to accept them, too. We need to get those drugs out of your system, and this will do just that.

Cody:  Hi.

Janice: Can I help you?

Cody:  Uh, yes, I’m here to see Sasha Gilmore.

Janice: What’s your name? I’ll need to make sure you’re on the list of approved visitors.

Cody:  I’m sure I’ll be on the list. Sasha was married to my — my late cousin, Brando Corbin. I’m Dante Falconeri.

Janice: Sasha talked about her husband, Brando.

Cody:  Yeah, his, uh — his death was a blow to all of us, really, but particularly for Sasha, obviously. That’s why my family’s really worried about her. Can I please see her?

Brick: You take good care of your exes, that’s for sure. First, you make sure to protect Carly’s new beau in prison. Now Ava. What’s next?

Nina: Hey, Brick, Sonny.

Brick: Hey, gorgeous.

Nina: [ Chuckles ]

Brick: And another gorgeous.

Olivia: [ Chuckling ] Hey, Brick.

Nina: Everything all right?

Brick: It will be.

Sonny: How come it seems like you guys have been up to something?

Nina: Well, Olivia graciously agreed to help us plan our wedding here at the Metro Court.

Sonny: Really? You know, that — that means a lot to me, Olivia.

Brick: You live a charmed life, my man.

Janice: If I could just see your driver’s license, Mr. Falconeri.

Cody: Uh, yeah. I must have left it in the car.

Janice: I’m sorry. No one gets in to see Ms. Gilmore without the consent of her guardian. If you want to run back to your car and get it, visiting hours are until 7:00 P.M.

Cody: Yeah, no, I-I parked pretty far away.

Mandy: But, Janice, he’s family. A cousin-in-law.

Janice: But it wouldn’t matter if he were her brother. Ms. Gilmore’s guardian was very specific.

Cody: Yeah, I bet she was.

Mandy: Isn’t it time for your break, Janice? I can cover the front desk for you.

Janice: I couldn’t ask you to do that. I’m sure you have patients to check on.

Mandy: Always do. See you later.

Cody: I’m sure you can understand how concerned we are about Sasha.  Really, I just need a few minutes.

Janice: I think I made it pretty clear what you would need, Mr. Falconeri. I’m sorry. I have to follow the rules. The only way you’re getting in here is if you have an id or you’re a patient.

Cody: Have a nice day.

Janice: I intend to.

Scout: What’s wrong, Mommy?

Sam: Nothing’s wrong, sweetie.

Scout: You have that look on your face.

Sam: Hey, what look?

Scout: The look you get when I’m in trouble. Did I do something bad?

Sam: No, sweetie. Come here. You didn’t do anything wrong. Someone else did.

Gladys: No, it’s not “too young” for me.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Gladys: Everything okay?

Dr. Montague: Yes, I have everything under control.

Gladys: How’s my daughter-in-law?

Dr. Montague: Oh, don’t you worry. She’s doing just fine.

Sasha: [ Breathing shakily ] [ Shivering ] Please… I don’t want to be here.[ Crying ] I want to go home.

Diane: Oh, you suddenly don’t seem too enthused about the prospect. Never mind. I’ll take Alexis.

Robert: Alexis doesn’t appreciate cars.

Diane: Right, but she appreciates spending time with me. Adios.

[ Door opens ]

Anna: Valentin linked to Sonny. Sonny connected to Pikeman. What is Valentin’s link?

Valentin: Hey, what’s going on?

Anna: I think I know who shot at me. And I think you know them, too.
