THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[suspenseful jazzy music]

[mumbles] I can’t– I believe they wouldn’t let me back on set. Like I was really going to make off with Kassanndra’s duvet cover. I have standards. When you get pink slipped, you stick to office supplies. [stolen supplies clatter]

[knock at door] [gasps] The cops.

It was not an admission of guilt. Those are all from the gift shop downstairs.

The gift shop? Did you buy me something?

Uh, sure. How do you feel about a high-end stapler? Boy, am I glad to see you.

[sighs] Well, I know you had a rough day, so I just wanted to stop by and give you a kiss.

Well, I’m not going to say no to that. [tender music]

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you.

[Steve sighs]

[chuckles] Happy Valentine’s Day, sweetness. And happy anniversary.

I cannot believe that you let me think that you forgot.

I wanted to surprise you, baby.

Surprise me?

Yeah.

This is more like a trick.

Oh, OK. Yeah. And I know you were mad. But you did say you forgive me.

Mm, mm, mm. No, no, no, no, no. I said I guess I could forgive you. [Steve scoffs] which means that I am still miffed. And I’m not really, really quite there yet.

OK. I get it.

Mm-hmm. So I think that you have to figure out how you’re going to make it up to me.

[sighs] Right.

Mm-hmm. And how are you going to do that? [suspenseful jazzy music]

I’m not telling.

Oh. [Steve chuckles] Another surprise, huh?

[chuckling] Yes.

You always just love keeping me in suspense. Don’t you?

I do. [Kayla inhales deeply]

I wouldn’t want you to change anything.

[sighs] Don’t make that face. [sighs] [tense cymbal roll] [suspenseful music]

Holly?

Doug? Uh– [Holly gasps]

Mrs. Choi is finally on board with us putting the baby up for adoption. So all we have to do is find the right couple. [soft tender music]

Maybe you just did.

Wait. I’m sorry. What are you talking about?

We’re talking about us. What if Johnny and I adopted your baby?

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[tender music]

Are you–are you serious?

Well, we’ve been talking about having a baby. We actually just came from an appointment with Aunt Kayla.

Yeah, and she said that it’s pretty risky for me to get pregnant right now for both me and the baby.

So sorry.

Yeah. Thanks. It was kind of a blow. But Johnny and I were just sitting here talking about how we both really want to be parents.

And discussing our options.

And then you showed up and you’re looking for someone to adopt your baby.

And it kind of just feels like it’s meant to be, you know?

Doug, what are you doing here?

Julie asked me to run an errand for her. I-I didn’t expect you to be here. [Holly sighs] But you obviously weren’t expecting me either.

Yeah, well, it’s Valentine’s Day. Tate was going to make me dinner. He was supposed to be here, like, an hour ago.

Ah. Well, it looks like you have quite the night planned.

[scoffs] This? No, I–I was just trying it on. I–

Oh, no, no. I didn’t mean–

I was going to take it off before he even got here, so–

I just– I just meant that, uh… you look nice. [soft dramatic music]

Well, this was very, very sweet.

Well, I figured that you need a palate cleanser from your crummy day before we head out. [Leo gasps]

I forgot to make dinner reservations for tonight. With, you know, with all the work drama.

Hey, that is totally OK. You just lost your dream job. You get a lot of leeway right now.

Oh, yeah?

Mm-hmm.

How much leeway?

One month anger, one month self-pity. But then by Memorial Day weekend, I’m going to need you back because we have that trip to Provincetown, remember?

Yeah, all right. It’s a deal. I did plan ahead and I got you something, though.

[snaps fingers] Oh, no, no, no, no, no. You first. [Leo chuckles] It is just a little something that we sell at Gabi Chic.

All right. Let’s see.

“If you don’t have anything nice to say, come sit by me.”

I saw it and I thought of you.

It’s right on the money. And it’s so thoughtful. Thank you.

Well, it goes both ways. Whatever you’re feeling, you come sit by me and share it.

You’re not going to go running for the hills?

I am not going anywhere. [tender music] [soft dramatic music]

There. What do you think?

It’s perfect. If I do say so myself.

[chuckles] Well, I hope I was half as successful with your little gifty.

From Saxton’s?

Mm-hmm.

Leo, this is gorgeous.

Well, I have exquisite taste.

Well, thank you. But this must have cost a fortune.

[sighs] I was making head writer money at the time.

Well, let’s return it.

For store credit? No. No. I wanted to do something nice for you while I could.

I’m sorry. I can’t believe that the network didn’t bring you along when they picked the show up.

Yeah. It’s their loss, though. I am choosing to view this as a positive for me. My future is wide open. Even if dinner reservations are not.

Hey, that is totally OK. I wouldn’t mind just ordering room service and turning on the TV and seeing who wins.

Oh, yes, yes. The “Drag Race” semi-finals, of course. You know, I know it’s a holiday and all, but I was worried about not watching them live.

“Drag Race”? No, no. [laughing] I’m talking about the big game. [suspenseful jazzy music]

What big game?

Uh, you said you were helping Julie run an errand? Is there anything I can help you find or–

Right. So I can get out of your hair.

I did not say that.

You didn’t have to. [Holly chuckles softly] As soon as I find this book, I’ll be on my way.

Which book are you looking for?

A book that my grandfather gave to Julie for Valentine’s Day one year. She thinks she left it here last April during that blizzard.

Mm. Yeah, I remember. That was nuts. Well, feel free to look around.

Sweet. Thanks. And that didn’t take long at all. Here it is.

Let me guess. A book of love poems.

Ding-ding.

[chuckling] Seriously? I was joking. Wow, that’s really sweet.

Yeah. Julie said my grandfather wrote a song just for her and stuck it inside this book.

[sighs] Aw. They were something else. God, I hope I’m that head over heels in love when I’m their age.

I know. Way everyone tells it, my grandfather was a hopeless romantic. [Holly chuckles] [soft dramatic music] Guess we have that in common.

Wow. You’re right, it does kind of seem like it is meant to be. Are you two sure about this?

Yeah. I mean, it makes sense, right? Like, you could tell Mrs. Choi that the baby’s going to stay in the family since you and I are cousins.

Yeah. Or are we coming on too strong? Or, you know, maybe this is a little too close for comfort for you two. Or, I don’t know, maybe you have somebody else already in mind.

No, no, no, no, no, no. Sophia and I have searched high and low for a couple that her mom would approve of. And we’ve had no luck.

Has she already shot down a few people?

Not exactly, but her family’s religious, so that’s definitely a factor. We thought this couple from her mom’s church was on board, but they backed out.

So she won’t let anyone adopt the baby who isn’t a part of her church or doesn’t practice the same faith as her?

I don’t exactly know what her parameters are, but the only way we could convince her to let the baby be put up for adoption was if it was by a couple with good Christian values.

Hmm. Good Christian values, huh? [soft tense music]

[imitates flying sound] Thank you.

I hope you don’t mind, baby. It’s not very fancy.

Mind? Are you kidding me? This is my favorite thing in the whole world.

Yeah?

Being with the man of my dreams with a big glass of wine. It’s heaven.

You’re heaven.

Mm, yeah? [Steve smooches] Oh, are you crazy? Is that my favorite brie?

Yeah. The one that’s always sold out.

Have I not taught you anything? You always lead with the brie.

Oh, OK. [Kayla sighs] Well, you can thank Stephanie, too, because she helped me track it down for tonight.

Oh. [somber music]

What’s the matter, baby?

Mm. Just reminds me of what my mother used to always say. You’re only as happy as your least happy child. I mean, Stephanie should be out having a special night with a guy on her Valentine’s Day, not helping her parents wine and dine each other.

Well, how do you know she’s not?

Well, I mean, I do know that there was something brewing with her and Alex Kiriakis again. And I didn’t want to pry. But she did say that they were having trouble trying to make it work.

Well, I suggest you should pry more often because it’s the only way we can get our kids to tell us anything.

[scoffs] What do you mean?

Stephanie told me that she and Alex worked it out. As a matter of fact, they’re having dinner tonight.

Hmm. Hmm. [soft jazzy music playing]

Sorry to keep you waiting.

Mm. Well, you are worth the wait.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Color me shocked, but I had no idea there was a big game, let alone one that you’d be interested in watching.

It’s the Longhorns game. Sorry, sometimes I forget that I’m not in Texas anymore. [Javi chuckles]

Is that football?

If it were Thanksgiving, maybe. [laughs] It’s basketball season. My dad and I used to watch every Longhorns game. You didn’t grow up watching sports?

Not if I could help it. But if I had to, I was way more interested in the cheerleaders. No, no, no. I’m totally gold star. I just cared more about the choreography than the actual games.

See, I actually did care about the games, especially during March Madness. My father and I used to fill out our own brackets and then we place bets to see who can beat each other. And if I won, I’d get 10 bucks. And then if I’d lose, I’d have to, you know, clean out the garage. [both chuckle]

How did that shake out?

The garage was spotless. [laughter] But I didn’t care. Watching the games with my dad, hearing him yell at the TV, I felt close to him. [sentimental music] Which is why I was worried telling him that I was gay and it would change everything, which is why I waited as long as I could.

And what did he say when you told him?

He said, that’s nice, son, but you still have to clean the garage. [laughter]

My god, it must have been such a relief.

It was. And nothing changed between us. When I told my mom, that was a whole other story. Nothing was ever the same between us again. [somber music]

A first date on Valentine’s Day?

Well, I wouldn’t exactly call it a first date. But yeah, looks like they might be diving right into the deep end.

Well, you know what? I’m really happy for Stephanie. I mean, I know how worried she was that it couldn’t work out with Alex because of Joy Wesley.

Well, apparently he was finally able to end things with her.

Well, I’m sorry for her. But after everything that Alex and Stephanie have been through, I think they need a second chance. Wouldn’t you agree?

Listen. I’m happy she’s happy. But Alex? Look, I know I sound old-school, but he’s a notorious player.

I have heard that he has mellowed over the years.

I just don’t want to see her get hurt again.

I know. Listen, I would be lying if I said that I am completely on board with the two of them getting back together. But they’re young. And how do you grow older and wiser if you don’t make some mistakes?

Yeah, well considering all the times we foolishly broke up… I guess we must be really wise.

[chuckling] Right. Oh, yeah, our wisdom is infinite. No, I’m just saying that look at us. We overcame our issues. And it made us stronger and better, right? I just hope the same thing happens for them.

Just wait. [tender music]

Mm.

Ah.

Montrachet.

A ’93.

[gasps] Is that a good year?

Oh, a very good year, according to my mother.

Ooh. [soft jazzy music playing] [glasses clink]

Mm.

Mm?

That is incredible. I mean, but then again, I’d be happy with 2 Buck Chuck. I’m not much of a wine expert.

I wouldn’t say I’m an expert either, but my mother did insist that I learn about all of the best French vintages. One summer as a kid, she took me all over the country. We must have hit every single vineyard this place has to offer. It was like a field trip.

Well, I hope not a grade-school trip.

Mm. High school, technically. But they’re a little bit more permissive there. Although I know my father wouldn’t have been thrilled.

Oh, wow. Where did Justin think that you and your mom were going all over France?

Euro Disney.

[laughs] No.

Mm-hmm. Yep, he said, just make sure you take him to the Louvre. That’s it. You take him to the Louvre is what he said. You make sure he gets his culture.

Wow. Well, you certainly got that.

I did, yeah. So we went to the Louvre, obviously.

Mm-hmm.

Then we hit all the best restaurants. My mother, she would order these six-course tasting menus.

Wow. Not a bad way to spend vacation.

Yeah. Beat getting a lifeguard job, that’s for sure. [both chuckle] I think my mother just– she viewed it as her duty as a parent to show me the finer things in life. Although, time to time, I do wish she had a little bit more of a conventional approach to her parenting.

But there were upsides, too.

Mm.

And I’m not just talking about how this wine didn’t come out of a box. Without her, you wouldn’t be who you are today.

Mm, I guess– I guess not.

We wouldn’t be here together. So for that, I’m grateful. I’m grateful for her, too.

Me, too. [glasses clink]

Listen, I still have to talk to Sophia. Can we get back to you two?

Yeah. No, yeah, of course. Do you need a ride somewhere?

No, no, no. I’m all set. I was supposed to meet Holly at the Horton cabin over an hour ago.

Oh. Big plans for Valentine’s Day?

You know, something like that. [Chanel laughs] But thank you so much. I mean, this could be really, really amazing. Not just for me and Sophia, but for you two and the baby. You two would be really great parents. [soft dramatic music]

Thanks, Tate. That means a lot.

I’m sorry that I have to rush out. The cell service at the cabin sucks and Holly’s probably wondering where I am. And I just hate the idea of her sitting there all alone. [suspenseful music]

Any good ones in there?

They’re all pretty romantic. And earnest. It’s pretty amazing that someone can write about how deeply in love they are and not feel self-conscious about it.

Yeah. Well, maybe that’s why people write poems. They put into words the things they can’t say in real life.

Yeah. Maybe.

Do you have a favorite?

Yeah, this one stood out to me. “Ode on a Grecian Urn.”

“Beauty is truth, truth, beauty. That is all ye know on Earth and all ye need to know.”

Wow. [Holly chuckles] So you’re not some poetry novice.

It’s just one of my favorites. [soft upbeat music]

Then I hope someone writes you a little inscription in a book like my grandfather did for Julie.

“When I first saw you, that’s when I knew the truth. “You are the most beautiful, wonderful thing I’ve ever seen. And that’s all I ever need to know.”

Wow. Talk about big feelings. That’s pretty romantic.

Yeah, it is.

And I feel the same way about you.

[peaceful music] [whistle blows on TV]

Now, why did that just happen?

The ref is calling a penalty ’cause the other team was traveling.

Right. That’s bad?

[chuckles] Yes, that’s bad.

You know, rules aside, I get why you like this game. Bunch of sweaty men running up and down the court wearing those cute, little shorts. Maybe next Valentine’s Day, I’ll get you a pair of those. [tender music] You know, not to jump ahead to next year. I know that this is new.

Sounds like a plan.

I’d better start thinking about what to get you next year, too.

Mm. This brie is so good. [both chuckle] I can’t stop eating it. You know, don’t even bother ordering dinner.

I’m not. It’s a text from Tripp.

Oh. Something wrong?

No, he’s just wondering if I’ve heard anything more about his mother.

Still no word on Ava, huh?

Well, not since she told Brady that she was going to Hong Kong. She left him a voicemail right after that. I sent that out to have it analyzed. Might be a dead end. [somber music]

You know, do you think maybe it’s possible that she just wanted to extract herself from Kristen and Brady’s drama?

And use Wendy and Tripp as an excuse? Yeah, I’ve considered that. But that would be the best-case scenario. Worst case, something is really wrong. So I need to get to the bottom of it for Tripp.

Course you do. Because you are a good dad.

You know I’d do anything for my kids.

Yeah, I do.

So that was kind of, um… [chuckles] Unreal.

Yeah. I mean, we went to the hospital hoping I could get pregnant, and we came home possibly adopting a baby.

Yeah, listen, I, um, I hope it was OK that I suggested that to Tate. I just–when we both looked at each other, it felt like we were… absolutely on the same page.

Oh, yes. Yes, we were, 100%. But I think we kind of just blurted it out. And now that the adrenaline is starting to wear off, um, I’m wondering, should we really do this? Should we really adopt Tate and Sophia’s baby? [soft dramatic music]

Doug, I–

I’m sorry. I–I can’t believe I just said that.

Yeah, I can’t believe it either.

When you came over on Christmas Eve, the moment I saw you, I just– I don’t know how to describe it. My heart just skipped a beat.

I had no idea.

I’m such an idiot. Oh, man. I shouldn’t have said anything. You have a boyfriend. Can we just please rewind five minutes and just act like that never happened?

Actually… I don’t think I can.

Oh, I’m so, so sorry I’m late. But you are never going to guess who– I just ran into. Unexpectedly. [tense music]

Tate, you’re here.

Yeah, sure am. So’s Doug. [soft tense music]

Uh, Doug didn’t know we had plans today.

No, I, uh, I didn’t mean to crash. Julie just asked me to come pick up this book for her. And now that I have it, I should probably get going and let you guys enjoy the rest of your Valentine’s Day. So I’m going to take off. And you guys have fun. [Tate sighs]

Are you OK?

What? Yeah. No–uh, yeah. I just was spooked, like, twice today when you came in. And then when Doug came in, I practically jumped out of my skin. Anyway, what took you so long? Was the grocery store, like, packed or what?

Yeah, it was actually my second time there today, after I went to the hospital. Sophia had a little bit of a scare.

Oh, my god. Is she OK?

Yeah, everything’s fine. But that’s not the only good news. I might have found the perfect couple to adopt the baby. [tender music]

Is this about Tate and me, you know, being related? Because if that’s too weird, I totally get it.

No, no, no, no. It’s not about that. OK? If the baby were Tate’s or some random stranger’s, I would love any child that we brought home. And I know you would, too.

Yeah? So what do you think? [Chanel sighs]

It’s just that I’m worried that we may be setting ourselves up for another big disappointment. You know, if, you know, what Tate is saying about Mrs. Choi is true, then she seems very intense. And I don’t know. Would she really be willing to cut all ties with his baby, or is she going to be looking over our shoulders for the rest of our lives?

Yeah. Yeah, I mean, that certainly could complicate things.

And that’s ifshe even approves of us. I mean, she would want us to have good Christian values.

And?

Well, I’m just– I’m wondering, do we have those? [soft jazzy music playing]

What?

Nothing.

I just think it’s funny you went with the burger at a place that’s known for its filet.

Oh. Well, they’re also known for their burger.

Mm.

They make it with three kinds of cheese.

Mm?

You’d know that. If you weren’t so snobby.

Me? Snobby?

You spent your summers wine-tasting.

Ah.

In French vineyards.

Touché. [Stephanie chuckles]

You know, your mother’s not the only one who cultured their kids.

Mm.

My mom taught me how to make a great burger.

Dr. Johnson, a burger expert?

Mm. She is a Brady, after all.

Mm.

But don’t get her started on chowder.

Mm.

She’ll never admit any are as good as my Uncle Roman’s. [Alex chuckles]

So does that make you a gastropub connoisseur too?

Eh.

Eh?

I, uh, I had to catch up on a lot of family lore when I moved to Salem.

Mm, right. I keep forgetting that you didn’t grow up here either.

Mm-mm. No, my mom raised me in LA.

Mm.

She was working a lot. So she didn’t exactly take me on tours of wineries.

Mm-hmm.

Like you were doing. But, uh, we did go to Magic Mountain a bunch, though.

Nice. I’ve never been.

[gasps] And you claim to know the finer things in life?

Mm.

Oh, my god. We used to go once a month.

Wow.

Yeah, she would tell her colleagues not to page her unless it was an absolute emergency. And she was very clear about what constituted one.

Mm. [soft jazzy music playing]

It was us against the world.

Was it hard? Growing up without your dad? [soft dramatic music]

Hmm.

My mom went out of her way to make sure I knew how loved I was. And how much my dad was loving me from afar. Growing up, I– I always felt like he was watching out for me. [chuckles softly] It was nice.

But of course, nothing compares to having him in my life for real. And to be here with the whole family in Salem.

[sighs] Still, I, um… I wouldn’t change a thing about how I grew up, either.

That’s because those experiences made you who you are.

Exactly.

Exactly. I’m grateful that your journey brought you here too.

Ah, so much for the wine. [Steve chuckles]

There’s a bottle of white in the fridge.

You always come prepared, don’t you?

Mm.

Mm.

Oh, but wait a minute. Before we open the wine, I got something for you.

[gasps] You didn’t.

Mm-hmm.

You didn’t get me a gift, did you? After all this?

Sure I did, baby.

Well, good, because I got you a gift, too.

Oh.

Yup-up-up-pew! together: Happy anniversary! [Kayla chuckles]

No way. Did you?

Did you?

We’re so simpatico.

[chuckling] Oh, baby, come on. Yeah, swap. Wow.

Wow. [crowd cheering on TV]

Why’d they just pass to him? There’s like a million guys guarding him! – Tira la pelota! Come on! Yes! Yes! Yes! Shoot it! Shoot it! Shoot it! Yes! Yes!

Ah! We just took the lead!

We?

Yeah, “we.” Got a problem with that? [tender music]

Not in the slightest.

God, that was sexy.

Oh, you still thinking about all those men in shorts?

No, dum-dum. I’m talking about you. Seeing this side of you, feeling very, very close to you right now.

[soft dramatic music]

Mm, I think the game is back on.

What game? How about… we play a little one-on-one instead?

[Steve chuckles]

Oh, my goodness! Two tickets to Chicago Cubs opening day.

Can you believe it? My wife got me the same thing. [both chuckle]

Well, doesn’t she know you well?

Oh, she does. I love you.

I love you.

Mm.

Lucky.

Hey.

Hmm?

So what are we going to do with the two extra tickets?

Well, we could ask Stephanie and Alex to go with us.

OK. Now let’s celebrate.

Mm.

[soft jazzy music playing]

That looks amazing.

Really?

Mm-hmm.

Because this place is really known for their crème brûlée.

Oh, my god. [laughs]

Don’t let me hold you up. Take a bite.

No, no. After you.

[gasps] So chivalry isn’t dead.

Mm-mm.

Mm, how about we both take a bite at the same time on the count of three? Ready?

Ready.

One…

Two…

Three.

Mm-hmm.

Mm. Oh, my god.

What? [Alex chuckles]

Got a little–

Oh. Did I get it?

Not quite. [Stephanie chuckles] Here.

Much better.

Mm. [Stephanie laughs]

Look, no offense to Mrs. Choi, OK? But I don’t think sharing the same faith as her automatically makes somebody a better parent.

I know, I know. But it’s important to her. And she seems to be the one with the deciding vote.

Well, didn’t you grow up going to church every Sunday with your mom?

Yeah, I did. And I still go with her from time to time. Well, on Easter Sunday at least. [Johnny chuckles]

Well, that’s one point in our favor.

Yeah. [sighs] You know, I mean, I try to be kind to everyone and help the less fortunate. And so even if we’re not practicing one particular faith, I mean, we’re still good people, right?

Look, Chanel. I happen to think you are a very good person, maybe even the best person. All right? And whatever happens with Sophia’s mother, we will deal with it, all right? Together. I love you, Chanel.

I love you, too, John. [tender music]

I tried to give them every option to back out, but they’re serious. Johnny and Chanel want to adopt the baby.

Wow. [chuckles softly] I mean, are you sure it’s not going to be weird for you and Sophia still being that close to the kid?

No, no. We’ll make it work. Especially if they’re the best option for Mrs. Choi.

Yeah. Yeah, I guess.

Hey, I know what you’re thinking. But even if the baby stays in Salem, Sophia and I won’t be its parents anymore. So we’re not going to be bound together forever. You would be my priority. And our relationship with Sophia or anyone else, it’s not going to come between us again. [soft dramatic music]

Hey, Julie. I found the book. [somber music]

I’m such an idiot. Oh, man. I shouldn’t have said anything. You have a boyfriend. Can we just please rewind five minutes and just act like that never happened?

Actually, I don’t think I can.

Well, that would be really amazing if it all works out.

Yeah, I hope it does. [Tate inhales deeply] I don’t want to think about the baby anymore tonight. This night is supposed to be about us. Happy Valentine’s Day, Holly.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Tate.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Elizabeth presented Anna with evidence implicating Cyrus in multiple deaths, prompting Anna to consider obtaining a warrant for his arrest. Meanwhile, Cyrus prepared syringes filled with Digitalis and learned that Elizabeth was at home. At the police station, Sasha kissed Jason to support their fabricated story about him being her baby’s father, a gesture witnessed by Mac, who was visibly upset. Carly and Sonny discussed Jason and Sasha’s situation, with Sonny advising Carly to stay out of it. Later, Elizabeth was confronted by Cyrus at her home, leading to a tense encounter. Elsewhere, Jack visited Carly, assisting her with a plumbing issue and sharing personal anecdotes about his family background. At The Savoy, Spinelli’s attempt to set up Lucas on a blind date was unsuccessful, while Trina and Kai enjoyed their first date, during which Trina revealed her father’s ownership of the venue. Anna implored Jason not to take lethal action against Cyrus, but Jason remained noncommittal. The episode concluded with Cyrus confronting Elizabeth at her residence.

Recap written by Suzanne

Kyle and Claire discussed the importance of Victor’s approval of their relationship. Kyle expressed reluctance, but Claire emphasized her desire for family harmony. Eventually, Kyle agreed to a dinner with Victor. Meanwhile, Diane proposed subtle renovations to the Abbott home, aiming to modernize it while preserving its charm. Jack was initially hesitant but agreed to the updates, and they planned a brief getaway during the renovations. At Society, Lily sought Victor’s assistance in gathering information on Damian, to which Victor agreed. Elsewhere, Audra and Holden discussed their past, with Audra insisting they keep their history hidden from Nate. Holden revealed Damian’s intention to leave town, but Nate remained determined to facilitate a reunion between Damian and his mother, Amy. Later, Claire convinced Victor to have dinner with her and Kyle, despite his reservations. Audra warned Nate about raising Amy’s hopes, suggesting Damian might not be ready for reconciliation. Holden persisted in seeking a meeting with Audra before his departure, despite her reluctance.

What is it? Carter… I-I mean, we should be celebrating right now, right? Like, the jewelry launch was a success just like we knew it would be, and– Okay. Well, then why aren’t you with him? Well, the jewelry launch is a hit. Orders continue to come in. But it came at a big cost. Forrester is my family legacy. And I will get it back. I know today was challenging, but I still believe Carter will come back to himself and do the right thing. Well, it’s gonna be harder now that his plan for expansion has been a success. Carter is riding high right now. [door closes] I wouldn’t be too sure about that. Zende, we watched the drop online–it was a hit. Yeah, well, I was there in the room, and what was really surprising was the mood.

What do you mean?

The only person who seemed genuinely excited was Hope.

Brooke: Honey. I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what’s wrong. I’m just tired. I’m tired of losing, and even when we win, it feels like a loss. I mean, you felt the energy in that room during the launch today. Yes. So, what did you expect? I–you tell me! Everyone in that room has-has felt bullied or beaten down at some point. I mean, Steffy wouldn’t even hear Electra and Ivy’s pitch when Carter brought them in. She canceled my line without a care in the world for how that might affect Zende. And how many times are we supposed to be called bitches and sluts? I just… I know. Ridge and Steffy have made some terrible mistakes. But that doesn’t mean you have to steal their company away. Mom, I truly believe this is what is best for everyone in the long run. And Carter? You both won today, so why aren’t you celebrating with him? What happened? Well, instead of… Carter feeling proud about all that he’s accomplished, he’s currently beating himself up because he feels guilty. Blood on your hands. Well, that tracks. You stole this company from your family. You betrayed your best friend. And you killed a friendship. If the Logans are good at anything, it’s getting men to give them what they want. It worked for my dad, Thomas, Granddad. My uncle. I mean, the list goes on. Look… I actually like Hope. I enjoy working with her, and I’m excited about the new line, but I’m telling you, something was so off about her today. I mean, it’s like she couldn’t read the room. Everyone was obviously conflicted, sad even, but she kept trying to amp us all up– she called for champagne. Of course she did. And Brooke? She was just as torn as the rest of us, struggling with all the changes here at Forrester. HOPE: Carter should feel proud. This proves that his vision for the company was the right one. And I’m sure he thought, when he created these ideas, he would be celebrating with Ridge, Eric, and Steffy too. Well, they could be, only they don’t want to. So now Carter’s in there beating himself up over people who have taken him for granted. He feels guilty, honey. Forrester is their company. Right or wrong, it belongs to them. Why are you always taking their side? How many times did Stephanie disrespect you over the years? A-a-and now, for her granddaughter to do the same to both of us? How many times has Ridge taken advantage of you, broken your heart? I mean, hell, he is with Taylor right now, and you’re still defending him. We are not talking about me. We are talking about Carter. And he is hurting right now. He knows what he did is wrong. He destroyed his relationship with his best friend! So today is a big day for me, Ridge. It’s a big day for the company, so… if you’re done, I’d like to celebrate. If I’m done? We’ve gone through this. I’m a back-stabbing traitor who stole your company and killed our friendship– we don’t have to do this again. Maybe we do, because I’m confused. ‘Cause you know what, I look at you… and I see the man that stayed up with me night after night when my dad was dying. I see the man who crashed on my couch when he didn’t wanna go home to an empty house after Maya left you. And I see my brother. Man, I still see him. I don’t want to, but I do. So I’m trying to wrap my head around it– how you could do this, how you could take this company. It’s not just a company. This is my life, and you stole it from me. I’m protecting it. You’re protect– oh, you’re protecting it. Because you’re the honorable leader who-who only fights for the underdog, the downtrodden. Is that what you tell yourself? Is that what… helps you sleep at night? And when you sleep, Carter, what do you dream about? You dream how you threw your life away for this beautiful woman that always knew you but only started talking to you when she needed something. [small laugh] I’ll tell you what I dreamed about. I dreamed about taking the company from a couple of bullies who signed a contract without reading it. How I took power from a man who wouldn’t tell his daughter to stop calling our employees bitches. That’s what I dreamed about, and I sleep well at night, Ridge. Okay. I hear what you’re saying. But I’m seeing something else. I see a man who’s scared of what he’s become. And he’s afraid all this… is gonna eat him alive. [heavy instrumentals] Zende, don’t for a second believe that Brooke cares about anything but herself. I know you have your issues with her, but she loves Uncle Ridge and she loves Granddad. I’m telling you, this takeover is weighing on her. Then she should prove it. If Brooke’s really having a crisis of conscience, she should talk to Hope, get her to stop this ridiculous takeover. I will never understand this hold that Ridge has over you and Carter. I just–I won’t. I don’t get it. He doesn’t have a hold over us. All right, you said you didn’t wanna talk about you–fine. But Carter…I’m sorry. Ridge has taken him for granted. That is a one-sided friendship. I think that relationship goes deeper than you think. Have you ever noticed how he doesn’t talk about his family? How he spends all of his holidays with us? And…what does that have to do

with this?

Honey, the Forresters have been like family to him. They filled a hole in his heart, and Ridge has always been like a brother to him. And now he’s ruined that entire relationship. I’m sorry, but if they truly thought that he was one of their own, then they would have respected his voice. They would have given him more of a seat at the table, and Carter would have never even felt like he had to take over in the first place. I know he’s struggling. He’s feeling very guilty, and it’s eating him up inside. And I hate that he even feels that way. He should be celebrating his accomplishments and instead, he’s thinking about throwing it all away. Whatever Carter’s thinking or feeling, I think you should support him. Oh, I’ll support him. I will support him by protecting him. Even if that means I have to protect him from himself, but– Because Carter has a big heart. And I refuse to allow Ridge or anyone else to take advantage of it. I hated betraying you. But it had to be done. So you’re gonna keep doing this– standing on the moral high ground. Oh, you know what? Maybe that’s the problem. Your head is all the way up in the clouds. You can’t see what Hope is doing to you. Oh, God, ha ha, there it is!

Right on cue.

We had a meeting in this room, all of us, and we decided to cut Hope for the Future. You agreed with that. What happened? I stepped down as CEO and Steffy asked you to run the company with her. Perfect time to bring in your new ideas. Perfect time to get rid of this toxic work environment, but you didn’t do it. Why do it now?

What changed?

I’ll tell you what changed. I walked into an office and heard your daughter threatening Hope, telling her to stay away from Finn or she’ll cut Hope for the Future. Is that what we do here? We use our power to lord over employees we don’t like? Is that good leadership to you? No, it’s not. You’re right. [sighs] Steffy made it personal. Maybe because she didn’t want your little girlfriend sniffing around her husband. What did you do? You put your name on paperwork? You stole this company? Is that good leadership? At least I didn’t have Charlie escort your daughter out of the building. No, because you’re too good for that. Oh, you’re damn right I am. So good, in fact, I let Steffy come back in. You see, Ridge, it’s not about ego or power for me. I want this company to reach its potential. It’s not gonna. What, not without you? Then come back. You would let me come back and answer to you and Hope? Not in this lifetime, brother. It kills you to see that I was right, doesn’t it? That this jewelry line drop– The jewelry line had nothing to do with you! Okay. Okay. But you know what, fine, let’s pretend it did. Let’s pretend this was a win. Where’s the party? Where’re the balloons, Carter? Where’s the champagne? I texted Electra earlier. She didn’t seem that happy. Brooke–big day for her. Should be. Wasn’t. It’s an adjustment. They’ll come around. They won’t. Doesn’t change anything, Ridge. Today was a win for the new Forrester Creations. All right, let’s not fight about that–it was a win. Great. And you know what? The fragrance line. That’s gonna be another hit. Carter, you are good at this. You have great instincts. You just don’t have morals. Your make up as a man, as a… as a friend…is awful. Hope can tell you you’re the hero, but you know who you are. You sold your soul to gain the world. And now all you wanna do is turn back time. Tell me I’m wrong. I refuse to back down. We cannot give in to Ridge and Steffy’s demands–we can’t.

No.

Listen to what you’re saying. You’re turning this into some kind of war. What are you saying? Mom, it has been a war, for years. Carter and I are trying to break that cycle of bullying, of toxicity when we stood up for ourselves, when we stood up for everyone who’s felt pushed aside at Forrester, and we’re succeeding. The jewelry launch is proof of that, Mom. We can’t let guilt undermine the future we’re trying to build here. Honey, what kind of future can you actually have when you can’t even look at yourself in the mirror?

Carter is hurting.

Carter is hurting because he is a good man, and people take advantage of that, and I refuse to let Ridge or anyone else take advantage of that goodness, and I will make sure of that. Drag me all you want, Ridge. Won’t give you the company back. How did Hope do this to the most honest man I know? Would you stop blaming Hope? The only thing she’s guilty of is supporting me. I supported you! I made you COO of this company, I gave you promotion after promotion. I didn’t like your idea of-of this luxury company. So let me ask you something. If I’d said yes to that, would we not be here right now? What is the first thing I said to you? What? When I first met you, what’s the first thing I said to you? [exhales] You said I need to start working out if I’m gonna wear shirts this tight. And what was your comeback? Says the guy who’s trying to bring mullets back. That is classic! That’s it–we clicked at that moment. Carter, I don’t like people. I don’t get on with ’em. I just don’t. But you, I met you, and I trusted you right away. Why can’t you trust me when I tell you that Hope is taking you for a ride? Ridge… This is what you do. You’ve always done it. You fall in love so hard, and you don’t see the red flags. Not with Zoe, not with Quinn. Not with Maya. What Hope and I have is real. I love her. And maybe she loves you. Who knows? Maybe she’s not using you. Here’s what I know. She got what she wanted like that. She wanted respect. She wanted to beat Steffy! That’s all she ever wanted, for years. And now you’re caught up in the middle of it because you champion her! Relationships are hard. They’re beautiful, but they’re hard. But they’re supposed to make you a better person and a stronger person, not richer and more powerful. Is that what Hope did to you? Are you…are you a better person now than when I first met you? Losing the company… Man, what a day. That was awful. But losing you… I thought the two of us would be sitting on a park bench when we’re 90, laughing about… tight shirts and stupid haircuts. Losing you, my best friend in the world… That broke me. Now I’m done. Wait. When I thought– When I thought of the moment… of my ideas taking this company to the next level, of making an impact here… I never thought I’d be doing it without you. Without my brother. I miss our friendship, Ridge. I miss my brother. [emotional music plays]

Days Opinions For The Week Of February 10, 2025

Opinion Article

by Michele & Cheryl

Joy from Days

You would never know that Paulina wanted to hire Jada as the police commissioner when she got rid of Rafe. Paulina acted as if she was on a mission to make Jada pay for the “crime” she thought committed. If she felt so strongly about getting rid of Jada, she shouldn’t have hired her in the first place. Paulina practically prosecuted Jada with little to no evidence. When the truth comes out, Jada doesn’t need to take the commissioner job back.

We want to applaud Joy for breaking up with Alex. She could have easily strung him along to keep him from being with Stephanie, but she chose to have self-respect for herself. We thought Joy was going to keep dating Alex so Stephanie couldn’t be with him. There have been plenty of times when people stay in relationships to keep people apart.

Speaking of Alex, Stephanie has become obsessed with Alex. She went from barely wanting to talk to him to be willing to quit her job for him. Also, she talks about him constantly as if she wasn’t with him before. You would never know she was the one who wanted to be friends when they first dated. They could be together now if she didn’t dump him to be with Chad. Fast forward and now she talks about him nonstop.

The writers wasted time with Body and Soul. If Abe and Kate were going to give up the show, they could have let it go to Los Angeles before. We understand people didn’t care for the story, but the writers could have kept it going. It gave Kate and Abe a storyline. If the writers took their time with the story. it could have worked. Now they will go back to barely being shown.

Why did it take so long for Seth to tell Kayla the hospital was closing? If he knew for months, why didn’t he say something? Also, why did he care if Bonnie sued the hospital if it was closing? You would think he would have said something sooner. With the hospital closing, where is everyone supposed to go when they are sick or hurt?

Jada brought her problems on herself when she got EJ fired. She should have known EJ would retaliate when she got him fired. Did she really think he would sit by and let her cost him his job? If she left well enough alone, she would have her job and not have to worry about being set up. We aren’t trying to make excuses for what EJ did to her, but she made it easy for him to set her up.

Rafe: There’s no way Feniger’s smart enough to pull off being police commissioner.
EJ: Well, you got away with it for long enough.

Ava: I hate to interrupt this little reunion.
The Woman in White: Then don’t.

(to Kristen and the woman in white)
Ava: You know, if you untie me, I will be on my merry way, and the two of you can continue this little mommy-me play date.

(when Jada found EJ in the tunnels)
Jada: Here you are. I knew I was right.
EJ: That would be a first.

(to the woman in white when she said Ava was going to be Rachel’s new mother)

Leo: Don’t mention it or anything else.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Julie thought about her first Valentine’s Day with Doug. Doug III showed up with flowers for Julie. She told him about her therapy sessions with Marlena. While they were talking, she asked him if he met anyone. He told her the person he had feelings for had a boyfriend. Julie said it was good to respect the relationship, but he should tell the girl how he felt about her. She told him about Doug being paid to break up her marriage which wasn’t a problem since she didn’t love her husband. When she wanted to show him a book of lyrics, she realized it was at the Horton cabin. He offered to get the book for her. Tate and Holly talked about their plans to go to the cabin. He wanted to make sure he wasn’t pressuring her to go. She said she didn’t feel pressure, but she wished they were each other’s firsts. While they were talking, Maggie showed up. Holly thanked Maggie for letting them use the cabin. Tate took the keys and left. Maggie asked if they were going to have sex. Holly and Maggie talked about her plans with Tate. Amy and Sophia were at the town square. Sophia told Amy that she and Tate were giving the baby up for adoption. Amy didn’t like the idea of Sophia giving the baby up for adoption. Sophia told her that she and Tate were going to find a Christian couple to adopt the baby. Amy said the baby would be better with its biological parents to which Sophia said it wouldn’t be. She said they were too young to have the baby and wouldn’t be together. While they were talking, Tate showed up. Sophia wanted him to help her. Before Tate could say anything, Sophia was in pain. When the pain showed up again, they took her to the hospital.

Johnny and Chanel talked about starting a family. She said she was ready to start a family but was afraid of having a miscarriage. Johnny told her that Kayla said the chances of her having a miscarriage were low. He said they didn’t have to rush, but Chanel wanted to make an appointment with Kayla to make sure. They went to see Kayla at the hospital. She told them they shouldn’t try to get pregnant now because Chanel’s HGC levels were high. Kayla said it could be a new tumor from leftover tissue from her last pregnancy. She said they needed to check on it more so this wouldn’t be the time to try to get pregnant. Fortunately, it shouldn’t affect her chances of getting pregnant later on. Chanel was glad that they checked. She thought they shouldn’t try to have a baby. Johnny comforted her and told her being healthy was important. Kayla checked on Sophia. She told Sophia, Tate, and Amy that Sophia had Round Ligament Pain which was common. Amy told Sophia and Tate that they cared about the baby and wondered why they were giving it away. Sophia said that was why she had to give the baby up. Amy agreed to the adoption if they found a good couple. Holly was at the Horton cabin and unpacked her things. She took out a nightgown and put it on. Doug showed up and walked in on her. Tate texted Holly to let her know he was running late. When he noticed Johnny and Chanel, he told them about Sophia and how her mother was willing to let them give the baby up for adoption. He said they had to find the right couple. Chanel and Johnny said he found the right couple.

Bold & The Beautiful Transcript

B&B logo

Transcript provided by Suzanne and Thane

My mother helped build this company, and she is more than capable of leading it, and I don’t like you implying otherwise. I’m not implying that. I’m just saying that your mother had paid a big price for your actions. She obviously isn’t thrilled about this injustice– my father and my grandfather basically banished

from their own company.

Steffy, please just accept that this is the future of Forrester Creations, one that you will see very clearly today at the jewelry launch. Just think of it as a little valentine from us to you. I know I’m certainly looking forward to celebrating its success in the arms of the man I love.

Brooke: I can see that your conscience is weighing on you. You’re a good man, Carter. You know what you and Hope did isn’t right. They kicked Hope out. They sidelined all of you. Ridge, he ignored me. He discounted my ideas. He didn’t discount you. Not like that! You two have been partners for so many years, and the success here at Forrester was always your success. It wasn’t just reserved for Ridge. And I know he always valued your friendship. I valued his. It’s Valentine’s Day, and… you and I are without the person that we love. Ridge.

Hey.

Hey. I almost forgot. Happy Valentine’s Day. Oh, no, I– How you doing?

Better now.

Mmm. I know there’s not that much to be positive about this whole Forrester situation, but it did allow us to find our way back to each other. ERIC: Well, I guess we could, uh, settle in and watch the jewelry line drop. Ivy’s designs are beautiful. It’s gonna be a great success. If there’s any success to be had, it’s gonna be yours. You signed off on the line. Yeah, well, good luck for us getting any credit. Not after they ousted us from our company. How do I tell you? How do I tell you Luna’s my daughter?

Steffy: Well, the drop should start soon.

ERIC: Yeah.

Oh, I just got a text from Finn. Excuse me.

ERIC: Oh, right.

Ridge: Can we get some coffee

or something? I–

ERIC: I’ll get some.

Ridge: Thank you. Do you want some? ERIC: You’re staying here. You could have made the coffee

this morning.

Ridge: I don’t make coffee. ERIC: He never makes coffee.

Ridge: You make the best coffee.

TAYLOR: You do make it…

ERIC: He says I make it. He just wants me to make it. HOPE: Right. Thank you. Uh, Carter, do you have a moment?

Yeah.

Ivy’s been checking in on the drop in between interviews but, um, I have that custom piece you requested for Valentine’s Day. CARTER: Wow, Electra, this is gorgeous. Oh, man, if your talent wasn’t apparent before, it surely is now. This is… Hope’s gonna love it. Thank you. HOPE: All right, everybody. We should be good to go in about five minutes. Uh, I just wanna say good luck to everyone and to thank you all for your beautiful work. We really couldn’t have done it without you, this amazing team. And if this is any indication of where the company is headed, I’d say the future is looking bright. Everybody, welcome to the Carter Walton era of Forrester Creations. Whoo! KATIE: Okay, the numbers are already looking good, so let’s go ahead and launch the look book. And get with Casey– I wanna make sure that we are ready to personally engage with all of our buyers. WILL: It’s all happening. You, my lady, are about to be an overnight success.

Yeah.

Oh, come on. Don’t be nervous. I know how much this line means to you, and pretty soon, everybody’s gonna know what I already do– how insanely talented you are. Engagement is climbing steadily. We might crash the site. The pieces are beautiful. Electra, you and Ivy, you created a stunning line that’s worthy of the Forrester label. It’s gonna give this company a strong base to launch future projects. You see? What’d I tell ya?

The orders keep coming in! I knew it would be a hit! This is what the future of Forrester Creations looks like. I mean, Carter could see it, and now the rest of the world can too. Eric and Ridge also signed off on the jewelry line. HOPE: But Carter was the one with the vision. And it’s just the beginning. The jewelry line looks like it’s a big success. Yeah, looks like it.

It was a good idea, Ridge.

It was your idea.

It didn’t come out of nowhere.

No. No, it didn’t. We put the pieces in place, and now Hope and Carter get to reap the rewards. Hope, Carter, and Brooke. She’s part of this too. She betrayed us as well. You deserve some congratulations, too, sis.

Oh, thank you.

What a roll out. Well, we started the buzz months ago, so… Yeah. Since before Ridge and Eric left the company. I feel terrible for them. Congratulations, Electra. I just texted Ivy. The line is beyond. Thank you. Um, it’s always been a dream of mine to work on something like this. You should be proud of yourself. We’re representing our family name. It’s important to remember. Look at the international sales! I mean, these numbers… I think it is time for us to break out the champagne and maybe celebrate? This is a historic day for Forrester Creations, and I think we can all take ownership in this. This is realizing the full potential of this company, this launch. This is what we can achieve when we all really work together. And the future has never been more bright or more fair. Hey, everybody. This just in from the international office– a little drop day congratulations. Look out. This thing’s a little bit awkward. Kinda like this vibe in this room. Ha. Text from Uncle Ridge. A group chat with Aunt Ivy. “Congratulations on the drop. Your talent makes our family proud.” Well, I think we should all be proud of all of our hard work, but since it seems like we will be skipping the champagne, uh, I would like a few minutes with our fearless leader, if that’s all right. Okay, everybody, uh…

CHARLIE: Here we go.

Thank you. CHARLIE: Sure. Can you grab the door, please? Sure. What is going on? You did it. We… I mean, you had a vision for Forrester Creations, and it’s happening. Yeah. It’s a Forrester without Eric, Steffy, and Ridge.

Finn: First Shiela tried to kill you. Now Luna. My daughter. You need to know, Steffy. You need to know. WILL: Electra, this is your dream, and you’ve worked so hard for it. You deserve all the success that comes with it. So enjoy the day. Valentine’s Day. Oh, yes. Yes, it is Valentine’s Day. There’s a lot to feel good about today.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Electra.

Oh! Well, the jewelry line launch went off without a hitch. I guess we should be happy about that. Yeah, except…was it just me, or did Carter seem not too excited about it? I wonder what’s going on. HOPE: Carter, I know this hasn’t been easy for you. I never imagined I’d be in this position, you know? We launched a successful line, but… Ridge and Eric… they’re not part of it. Doesn’t feel right. You’re a good man. You didn’t want it to happen like this. You miss your friend. It is understandable that you would feel this way, that you would feel guilt. But please do not let that cloud over your accomplishment. Carter, you did it. You dared to dream big and envision a Forrester that Eric and Ridge– they were too scared to even consider, and it succeeded. It succeeded, Carter. So please…allow yourself to celebrate that. Yeah, we, uh, we righted the ship–that is true. We have several projects in motion. We’ve proven we can lead, and… Maybe this is our opportunity. Yeah. Yeah, maybe this is our chance to go out on top.

Uh, it-it’s Finn.

Hey, babe.

Hey. Look, I’m, uh, I’m stuck at the hospital. I don’t know when or if I’ll be home. That’s okay. There’s a lot going on here.

Finn: Yeah, just… I wanted to hear your voice. You know? I love you so much. I love you more. We’ll find some time to celebrate. Listen, I-I really do need to talk to you, honey. Well, I can’t wait to hear what you have to say, okay? I love you. I love you too. Okay, bye. KATIE: You would think that Carter would be on a high after the success of the jewelry line launch. I mean, It does give his leadership some validity. I think he misses his best friend. I mean, it is Valentine’s Day, and it makes you miss the people that you love. I know I miss Ridge. ERIC: Yeah. Oh, Ridge–Ridge left. Yeah, he said he wanted, uh, he wanted some air to clear his head. I offered to go with him, but he said he wanted to be alone. ERIC: Yeah. He’s taking it so personally. Ridge is mourning a loss. Well, Carter’s being used and manipulated. Maybe we can get him back on track. We will. Carter’s gonna realize he made a horrible mistake, and when he does, we’re gonna get the company back. What do you mean “go out on top”? I wanna celebrate with you, Hope, I do, but… I’m having a hard time here. I tricked them. I tricked them into signing those LLC papers. It was underhanded. But hey, hey, if we go to Ridge, we show him the books, we show him our projections–

If we apologize…

Apologize? You want us to apologize? You– you want me to apologize to Ridge and Steffy after everything they’ve done to humiliate me, to insult me? Carter, no. No. This is Eric’s stapler. This is his office. His desk. His chair. It’s not mine. I feel… I feel like a– Like what? Like a traitor. Because I am. Carter, stop it. Stop it. You know your heart. You are no such thing. It was heroic what you did for me and my family, for everyone here who has felt undervalued. You stood up for us when no one else would. There’s nothing heroic about what I did. And I’m sorry, but I don’t think I can go on like this. I don’t think I can live with myself. Hope. Please. Look, we’ve proven ourselves. It’s time to make this right. I cannot believe you’re asking this of me. After you said… you said you would have my back! You said that you would stand by me! I am by your side, Hope. I love you. I love you–okay, look. It’s Valentine’s Day and I don’t wanna fight with you. And look, I got something for you. Carter, now is not the time for that. I can’t go back to the way things were. We can’t go back to the way things were. I-I can’t.

Aah! Heavy is the head that wears the crown, huh, Carter?

Bill: Here’s a look ahead.

Are you here to fix the AC? Do I know you? Life just doesn’t look the way that I pictured it would

at this point.

We cannot give in to Ridge and Steffy’s demands. There’s something that I have to tell you… and it’s something that you’re not gonna wanna hear. WOMAN: Also next week, it’s an encore presentation of fashionable… dramatic… and romantic “Bold and Beautiful” episodes on CBS at a special time– 2:30 Eastern, 1:30 Pacific.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[soft dramatic music]

That’s a wrap. You realize that we just now took our last order?

It’s been quite an evening.

Considering that most of the staff had the night off and we were down to one cook, I would say that Valentine’s Day at the new Doug’s Place was a huge success.

Happy Valentine’s Day, darling. [relaxed music]

Happy Valentine’s Day.

OK, you haven’t given me a Valentine’s Day gift since I was like ten.

Then I guess this is overdue.

Oh, you made me a blanket.

For the baby.

[romantic music]

[chuckles] Turn around.

Happy Valentine’s Day. [laughter]

Happy Valentine’s Day, my love. And happy one year wedding anniversary.

Wow, breakfast in bed.

Yes. How lucky am I? Wait, Cook had the morning off. Did you make this all by yourself?

Yeah. I had to wake up at the crack of dawn to do it.

Wow. I am afraid that I cannot enjoy this lovely meal.

What did I– did I mess something up?

Unless my charming husband enjoys it with me.

OK.

[laughs] You did good.

Good. That’s a relief. [sighs] You know, I know I haven’t been the most stellar husband lately, and I wanted to make it up to you. Plus two special occasions in one day is a lot of pressure.

Yeah, you know what, we didn’t think about that when we decided to get married on Valentine’s Day.

Yeah, well, my Uncle Steve and Aunt Kayla did the same thing, so I’ll have to talk to them and get some future Valentine-versary ideas. I’m sure my Uncle Steve does something romantic for Kayla every year.

Morning.

Morning, sweetness. Oh. [soft dramatic music] You looking for something?

Ah, yeah, yeah, the newspaper.

It’s right there.

Ah, so it is. [laughs]

Maybe you ought to get your eyes checked.

Yeah, I guess so.

OK, why don’t you grab some of that coffee I just made? I’m going to get dressed.

Did he forget our anniversary? It’s Valentine’s Day. [soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

I can’t believe he wouldn’t even mark it on his calendar. Good thing I made plans for the two of us.

Hey, Mom.

Hi. What brings you here?

I have something for you.

Oh? What’s this?

I came up with some ideas for a campaign to save the hospital.

Oh.

I’m sorry that I couldn’t hold off the press any longer, but this fight isn’t over.

Thank you. And listen, I know that if anybody can drum up support, it’s my crackerjack PR daughter.

[laughs] Ugh, I just can’t believe the board would do this. Ooh, coffee. I might go snag a cup. [soft dramatic music]

Et tu, Stephanie?

Thanks, Mom. I can tell you put a lot of thought into that, but–

I know, I know it’s not really a Valentine’s gift, but I couldn’t wait six more months to give it to you.

Six months. It’s not a lot of time, is it?

Not at all. So we’d better start planning ahead.

Yeah, we’d better. Which is exactly what Tate and I have been doing, which is why we’re looking for a great couple to adopt the baby.

Tate, these are beautiful. You did not have to do all this.

Yes, of course, I did. This is our first Valentine’s Day together, and I just wanted to make it special.

But you’re already cooking me dinner at the cabin tonight.

Yeah, but, like, don’t expect, like, a gourmet meal. Like I said, my cooking skills are very basic, so–

Still. Well, now I feel bad. I didn’t get you anything.

No, don’t. I’m just really excited to spend some time with you tonight.

Alone?

Yeah. And we can totally just play Connect Four if you change your mind about our–

Mm-mm, no, I’m not going to change my mind about that. I can’t wait to be with you tonight. [tender music]

Wait, is this my recipe?

[laughs] Well, what other recipe could compare? I hope I did it justice.

It is ten out of ten. You know what? Maybe I should hire you.

Well, I am out of a job now that “Body & Soul” has moved to LA.

Are you really sure that you do not want to move with the show?

Yes, I’m positive. Like I said last night, I could not be more excited about starting a family with you here in Salem. That was our plan, you know, before “Body & Soul” and all the chaos that came with it. And now that our marriage is finally back on track, I’d really like to just focus on the two, soon to be three, of us, hopefully.

Um, about that. I know that I was the one that suggested it last night, but– [soft dramatic music]

What is it, Chanel? Are you having second thoughts?

No, I really am ready to be a mom. It’s just that, um, well, there may be a problem. [dramatic music]

Happy Valentine’s Day, Julie.

Oh, red roses. Are those for me?

Who else?

Oh, thank you. Red roses were your grandfather’s favorite flower. And I was just– I was just remembering a very wonderful Valentine’s Day that we spent together.

Really? Well, I would love to hear about it, as long as it’s PG-13, please.

Please, please, come sit down. I’ll tell you. It was a Valentine’s night, and his nightclub was absolutely slammed because half of the staff did not show up. So Doug decided, I’m going to be the chef, and I will serve my speciality. And he brought out this huge platter of buttered noodles. [laughs] And everybody loved him for it. And it was so much fun. You know, your grandfather had this gift to bring joy up to the maximum.

So I’ve heard.

Yeah.

But I didn’t know you guys owned a club.

Oh, yeah, for years. It was called Doug’s Place. That’s where your grandfather, Robert, used to sing.

Really?

Yeah.

Do you guys still own it?

Alas, no, we don’t. He turned it into a restaurant, and he gave it to me, and he called it Julie’s Place, and we had some wonderful memories there too. It’s gone. [chuckles]

Well, maybe you can open a new club in his honor.

What a lovely idea. No, sweetheart, it would never be the same, not without my darling Doug. [tender music]

Sophia, we talked about this. I will never approve of my grandchild being given away to strangers.

But what if they weren’t strangers, right? What if you got to meet them and get to know them. We could find a perfect couple with Christian values and then invite them over for dinner.

So after one dinner, I’m supposed to say, “Sure, go ahead and raise my grandchild.”

We could have as many dinners as you like.

[sighs]

Or maybe we’ll find a couple that you already know.

Like who?

Well, I have been talking to Greg and Ellen Yu. [soft dramatic music]

Really?

Yeah, you like them, don’t you?

Sure, I like them. They’re both successful Korean doctors, dedicated members of our church. They said they’re interested in adopting?

Yeah. But they changed their mind. But we’re going to find another couple just like them. You know, a perfect couple who’s really going to give this baby the best life possible.

Don’t you think that the best life possible would be with his or her biological parents?

No, I don’t. And we’ve talked about this so many times, Mom. Tate and I, we’re too young to have a baby. And we aren’t even together, so it’s just going to be a disaster.

Mom, would you still love me if I wasn’t biologically yours?

Of course.

OK, so then why is it so difficult to imagine another couple loving this baby? Like, there are plenty of couples who can’t get pregnant but who want more than anything in the world to be parents. This could really be the baby that somebody’s been praying for.

Please, won’t you just consider our plan?

I can’t wait to be with you. I just want to make sure that you don’t feel pressured. I know this is a big deal for you. And so–

But it’s not a big deal for you?

Oh, no, no, no, no. Of course, it is. It’s a really big deal for me.

No, I get it. You’ve been there, done that already, so–

No, Holly, Holly, that is so not what I meant at all. I know it sounded like that, but–

I’m sorry. That came out harsher than I meant. What I really meant is I just wish things had been different, is all.

Me too. But I’m going to make this up to you, and I want tonight to be perfect. And it will be, because I’ll be with you, the most kind, beautiful, creative…

Mm, keep going.

Hilarious, brilliant, uh, fashionable, stunning, hot…

[laughs] OK, you can stop now.

I have all day. I can keep going.

You can stop. You can stop. [laughs]

This is going to be great.

Mm-hmm.

It’s going to be a Valentine’s Day to remember. And I should go. I got to go to the grocery store and get all the ingredients for our amazing meal.

[laughs] Are you sure this isn’t too much trouble?

Yes. Trust me, you are so worth it. I love you.

I love you too.

Bye.

Bye. [laughs] [tender music]

Chanel, you worried that we’ll have another miscarriage?

Yeah. Yeah, I am. And, you know, on top of that, your Aunt Kayla said that once you have a molar pregnancy, you’re at risk for having another one.

She also said that the overall risk is very low. And we waited the six months like she recommended.

I know, I know. But it’s just– I’m really just not ready to go through that again.

I get it. And hey, it’s not like we got to rush right into this thing.

Yeah. I know, but, Johnny, I really am ready to start our family. So maybe we should see if we could get an appointment with Kayla, you know, just get her advice.

I think that’s a great idea.

Yeah?

Yeah. I’ll call her today.

So do you have any plans for today?

Nope, just work.

Hmm.

Hey, little sweetness.

Hey.

What a nice surprise. What’s the occasion?

Oh, no occasion. Just came to say hello.

OK.

Ah, well, I guess I’ll be off to work, unless you need me for anything.

Not that I can think of. [soft dramatic music]

OK, then.

Oh, wait, I almost forgot.

Yeah?

The situation at the hospital, I know it must be tough going to work knowing that it might close down soon, but, baby, you hang in there. I have a good feeling things are going to be OK.

Thanks. I’ll see you.

[laughs] I can’t believe she actually thinks we forgot your anniversary.

All right, come on, little sweetness. We got work to do.

Yeah, yeah.

Yeah. [laughter] It’s going to be great.

So good. [bright music]

I hope Mom isn’t too mad at us.

Well, you know, she could have mentioned our special day without me having to say anything, but she’s stubborn. She wanted me to say something first, which worked out great for our surprise.

Mm-hmm. This really is so sweet.

Mm.

Have you always been this romantic?

In a word, no. Did you ever hear the story of my first Valentine’s Day gift to your mom?

I don’t think I have.

That’s because she’s too nice to throw me under the bus. [soft dramatic music]

I’ve got something for you.

What’s that, a warrant for my arrest?

I don’t think so.

Well, what is it?

Well, open it and you’ll find out.

[grumbles]

It’s a Valentine’s message with a sentimental touch. This isn’t till tomorrow, you know.

Well, I know. I just thought maybe you need some cheering up today. I know it probably doesn’t mean anything to you. Valentine’s is just another day, sweetness. Wasn’t that right?

That’s right. Just another cold day in February. But it’s– it’s nice. I appreciate it.

You’re welcome.

Well, I guess I should go. Later.

Wait a minute, baby. You’re forgetting your Valentine’s Day present.

I’m going to need those back in a few years, baby. I’m going to need to use those.

Great. I love them.

You gave Mom wind-up chattering teeth?

Yeah, yeah. I told you I had a lot to learn about romance.

[laughs]

But, you know, she was a good sport about it. She actually got a kick out of that gift.

Yeah, well, something tells me she’s going to get an even bigger kick out of this one.

Yeah.

[chuckles]

Aunt Kayla, thank you for squeezing us in so last minute.

No problem. We’ve actually had quite a few cancellations. I think people have found out that the hospital is declaring bankruptcy.

Oh, no. So you’re losing patients already?

Unfortunately, yes. But I am still very hopeful. Obviously, this place means a lot to me.

Yeah. To us too.

That’s right. You got married here a year ago today. Happy anniversary.

Well, right back at you.

Thank you. Well, listen, I had a chance to go over your blood work.

And is it OK for me to get pregnant again?

At this moment, I’m afraid not. [solemn music]

I can’t even imagine how hard it must be for you, missing my grandpa, especially on holidays like this.

Well, not all the days of our lives bring red roses. Chad has convinced me I do not have to go through this alone, and I’m now in grief therapy with my good friend, Dr. Marlena Evans.

Wow, that’s great. I really hope it helps.

Well, there’s a famous saying that somebody famous said. “Grief is the price you pay for love.” I understand that you never get over the grief, but you get better at handling it, and I’m just not there yet.

Right. Well, I’m really glad that you’re speaking with Dr. Evans, but if you ever need anyone to just, you know, listen…

Oh, honey. How sweet you are. Thank you. I’m curious, did you buy red roses for anybody else in Salem?

Nope. Just you.

Oh. Haven’t met any nice girl or nice boy? I never assume.

Well, just for the record, it would definitely be a girl. But, no, I’ve actually– I haven’t had any luck, romance-wise.

That’s amazing. Good-looking young man like yourself.

[laughs] Well, if I’m being honest, there is one girl that I’m sort of interested in, but she’s with someone else, so… [soft dramatic music]

Oh, looks like somebody’s Valentine’s Day is off to a nice start.

Tate was just here with all this. You want to have one?

Have I ever turned down chocolate?

Not that I know of. And neither have I. [laughter] Uh, also, thank you, Grandma, for letting Tate and I use the cabin tonight. He told me you gave him the keys.

Yeah, he seemed pretty nervous asking for permission. Sounds like he’s got quite a romantic dinner planned.

Yeah, he does. I told him he didn’t have to do all this, but I guess he just wants our Valentine’s Day to be really special.

Mm. Well, dare I ask how special he intends to make it?

What do you mean?

Ah. Well, are you two planning to have sex tonight?

Well, Mom, say something. What are you thinking? Tate, this is perfect timing. I could really use some backup over here.

Is this about–

I just told my mom about the plan that we have to find an adoptive family she would approve of.

And are you willing to consider?

Listen, I understand that neither of you is thrilled about becoming parents.

[gasps]

Sweetheart, are you OK?

Is it the baby?

[gasping] [tense music]

This girl you have eyes for, does she know you’re interested in her?

No, no. I don’t really see a point in saying anything. She seems pretty committed to her boyfriend.

Hmm. Well, it’s good to be respectful of a relationship, but, dear, if you’re drawn to her, I think it’s good to be honest about your feelings. [soft dramatic music] You know, I was married to somebody else when I met your grandfather.

You’re kidding. Grandpa stole you away?

Actually, he was paid to break up my marriage.

I’m sorry, what?

Yeah, it’s a long story. And that’s– that’s a story for another day. Well, my marriage was a marriage of convenience, certainly not love. And in a very short time, Doug’s passionate feelings for me were quite genuine, and I responded big time. [chuckles] You know, I told you he was a singer. Around those years, he wrote a song for me, and he called it “Julie.” Then years later, he wrote out the lyrics, and he put them in a book of poetry and gave it to me on Valentine’s Day.

Wow. I would love to see those lyrics he wrote.

Really? OK, I’ll go find the book. [laughs]

Grandma–

No, look, look, look. I know the last person you want to talk about sex with is your grandmother, but your mom is embarrassed, and I believe this job falls on me. I just want you to know that I’m here for you.

I do know that.

And, you know, I know you’re at the age that you can do whatever it is you want, but I would like there to be an open and honest dialogue between us.

I appreciate that. And to answer your question, Tate and I, we– we are planning on being together tonight. [laughs]

Sophia, what’s wrong?

I just– I just felt a sharp pain all of a sudden.

Should we just take her to a doctor?

No, it’s fine. OK, it only lasted for a few seconds. So just tell us, OK, if this adoption plan is going to work for you.

Well, as I was saying, I think that one of the things that you guys need to–

[screams]

OK, we need to get her to the hosp–

[gasping]

Tate, can you please help me walk her to the car?

Absolutely, and I’ll follow you over there. Come on. It’s OK.

[gasping]

It’s OK. Just breathe. OK, let’s walk.

I really appreciate you helping me out with this, baby girl. So, uh, I guess you don’t have any Valentine’s Day plans of your own, huh?

Actually, I do. Alex is taking me out tonight.

Really?

Mm-hmm.

I thought he was dating that Joy Wesley girl.

He broke things off with her, and we’re back together now. Come on, Papa. Keep up.

OK, OK. That’s great. That’s great. I’m glad you took my advice.

What advice?

When you were moping around about Philip, I told you not to give up on love. Yeah. So I think I should get a little credit for that.

Oh, yeah. Your advice made all the difference, as it always does.

I’m not really sure you mean that, but I’ll keep giving it.

I don’t doubt that.

Well, enough with the advice. I have a question.

Shoot.

Did it have to be another Kiriakis? I’m just kidding. I’m really happy for you, Stephanie.

Thanks, Papa.

I’m sorry. I know– I know it’s not what you want to hear.

Kayla, I just– I don’t get it. You said that, last time we were here, that if we waited six months, we’d be OK to try again.

Yeah. Is something wrong?

It’s just that your hCG levels are high right now, which could signify a new tumor stemming from leftover tissues from your molar pregnancy.

Could it be cancerous?

Well, there’s no way of knowing until we do further testing. But even if so, I’m sure it’s a low-risk disease, something we can take care of in a short procedure. But still, I think that, well, you shouldn’t get pregnant for a few months so we can keep checking your hCG levels. [somber music]

OK, well, look, it just means we just got to be patient for a little longer, right?

Well, could this affect my chances of getting pregnant in the future?

I don’t think so. But like I said before, there was always a risk that you could have another molar pregnancy.

OK, well, I’m glad that we consulted with you. Otherwise, we could have tried again too soon. And now that we know that even if we wait, maybe we shouldn’t try again at all.

OK, I just have to fill out a few more forms, and then we can go home.

OK. Hey, I know that’s not the news we were hoping for.

Yeah. [somber music]

Look, it’s a low-risk tumor, all right? And we’re going to take care of it. You being healthy is what matters most.

Yeah, I know, I know. I just– I was really excited about us having a baby and starting a family.

Me too.

No luck?

No. No, the book isn’t where I usually keep it.

Do you remember the last time that you had it?

No. Wait a minute, yes, I do. I took it to the family cabin, and– golly, I must have left it behind in all the commotion.

What commotion?

Oh, my dear. I got snowed in with Johnny and Chanel, and then we nearly lost Chanel in the storm. And then her mother, Paulina, arrived driving a snow plow and totally radioactive.

[chuckles] You lead a very eventful life, Julie.

So it seems. [laughs]

I could listen to your stories all day, but why don’t I go get that book for you?

Oh, no, no, no. That’s too much of a hassle. You have to take a ferry. Half the time, the ferry isn’t even running. No, no, that’s too much. You don’t have to do that.

Julie, I’d be happy to. You’ve done so much for me, and I definitely owe you one. [soft dramatic music]

So you’re not going to try to talk me out of this?

This isn’t my first rodeo, sweetie. [laughter] No, your Aunt Sarah was– she was a teenager once. And believe it or not, so was I. You know what, I don’t believe I could talk you out of it, even if I could try. I– hey, I just want you to be prepared for taking such a big step.

We are. Tate has protection. And as he and I know all too well, we know it’s not 100% effective. So I actually started taking birth control pills a few weeks ago, you know, just in case.

Well, I’m glad of that. But the terms of being prepared, it also means emotionally. Honey, listen, the last time we talked, you were feeling very insecure that Tate had been with Sophia and not you.

I– well, I mean, I’d be lying if I said that didn’t bother me anymore, but, honestly, it’s not about that. Grandma, I love Tate, and I know he loves me, so this just feels like the right time for us.

Well, OK, then. [laughs] I just want you to be happy, sweetheart, because I love you, and I don’t want to see you get hurt.

I love you too.

Oh. [tender music] Oh. [chuckles]

OK, well, I probably should head to the cabin. Tate gave me the keys so I could go set up early there.

Right.

Grandma, thank you for being probably the world’s coolest grandma ever.

You’re most welcome. [laughter]

I love you.

I love you more.

Is the baby OK?

Yes, the baby is fine. I think what Sophia is experiencing is round ligament pain.

What’s that?

Well, your abdomen is expanding, and the ligaments are stretching, and, you know, it’s very common to have that pain.

Really?

Yes, it is. But let me go get you a pamphlet, and it’ll explain some ways to help with the discomfort, all right?

Thank you, doctor.

Of course.

Thank God the baby is OK. I was so scared.

I know. Me too.

I don’t understand. You say you want to give your child away, and yet you both seem to care so much about this baby.

It’s because we care that we want to give it away.

That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you, Mom. We just want what’s best for the baby.

OK.

OK?

If you can find the right couple and I approve, then–

Mom, thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Hurry, hurry. She’ll be here any minute.

Well, if she wasn’t mad already, she will be when she finds out you lied about twisting your ankle.

I had to make an excuse to get her to come home.

Oh.

Get ready.

Surprise!

[gasps] [together] Happy Valentine’s Day! [laughter]

I can’t– you did all this?

And happy anniversary, sweetness.

I can’t believe you made me think that you forgot.

Trust me, it was killing us.

Oh, right, right, right, right. I bet you just were rolling on the ground with laughter when I left.

Well–

[laughs] Well, I believe my work here is done. I will let you two enjoy your anniversary.

Thank you, beauty. Love you.

Thanks, baby girl.

Of course. [tender music]

I can’t believe you put me through all that.

Are you mad?

Yes. Maybe I could forgive you.

Yeah?

Maybe.

[chuckles]

Looks like I still have time before Tate gets here. OK. I guess I should try it on before he comes. OK.

How could I tell you, what can I say? You’re so delightful in every way. What are the words, dear? Where is the song? Life has a meaning since you came along. I know that without you, I’m nothing at all. I know if you leave me, I’m certain to fall out of this heaven I’ve found myself in, into the darkness of what might have been.

Knock, knock.

Maggie, what are you doing here?

I came to say Happy Valentine’s Day. Oh, darling. Wow, who brought you these beautiful roses?

Oh, my god. Is the baby OK?

Yeah. Yeah. Thank God it turned out to be nothing serious.

That must be a relief.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Good thing you were able to drive her to the hospital, though, you know, just to be safe.

Oh, actually, her mom drove her. She’s here too.

Oh. How is that? I mean, I know you mentioned there was some tension there, so…

Yeah, you know, actually things are starting to look up on that front. Mrs. Choi is finally on board with us giving the baby up for adoption, so now all we have to do is find the right couple. [bright music]

Well, maybe you just did.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Philip has a drink as he talks to the portrait of Victor. Philip says he knows this might not have been what Victor wanted but after they take over DiMera, he will see that the forged letter was for the best. Xander then enters and slaps the drink out of Philip’s hand, saying he knows what he did and calling him a duplicitous, lying snake.

Kristen sits at the bar with a drink and thinks back to reuniting with her mother, Rachel Blake. Kristen comments to herself on her mother being alive after all these years and she can’t believe it. Sarah then approaches and says she doesn’t mean to intrude, but she wanted to see how she was doing after she had quite the mother-daughter reunion…

Arnold sits in the police commissioner’s office, smoking a cigar at the desk and remarks that he could get used to this. Jada then walks in and remarks that it’s nice to see he’s making himself at home.

EJ finishes stashing Rafe at the Blake house and then gets a call from Rita. EJ informs her that Rafe did not escape, but he moved him because there were too many close calls like Jada showing up. EJ tells Rita that he found the perfect place to stash Rafe where no one will find him because it’s isolated with not a soul around for miles. EJ then hears a noise and hangs up. EJ then enters the living room, shocked to find Ava tied up.

Belle sits in her room, going through papers until Brady enters. Brady comments on the district attorney’s work never being done. Brady says he just came to say hi so he has no reason to stay but Belle says she knows that look and asks what’s going on. Brady responds that it’s Ava and he thinks something is really wrong.

Ava tells EJ that he has to help her. EJ question what she is doing here. Ava informs him that Rachel lured her there because she wanted her out of the way so that Brady and Kristen could get back together. EJ questions a ten year old getting the drop on her. Ava responds that she had help which EJ questions. Kristen’s mother, Rachel Blake then enters and reveals it was from her. EJ questions who she is while she says she could ask him the same question since he’s trespassing in her house. Ava informs EJ that this is Rachel Blake, Kristen’s mother.

Kristen questions Sarah knowing about her reunion. Sarah clarifies that she meant her and Brady finding Rachel. Sarah says they are all so lucky that Rachel wasn’t hurt, almost like someone was looking out for her. Kristen remarks that she has no idea. Kristen says she’s really grateful for Sarah’s kind words since she knows how much she cares about Rachel. Sarah is glad everything worked out for the best. Kristen tells Sarah that it’s wonderful to see her back on her feet after the serum worked miracles. Sarah guesses the real miracle is that Xander didn’t have to hand over his company to her to get it.

Philip tells Xander that he was just visiting Maggie. Xander asks if he really thought he wouldn’t find out. Philip asks what he means. Xander responds that he has ears and eyes all over Titan, so his little game is over. Xander questions Philip hiring a private investigator to do research on him and using Titan money to do it like he wouldn’t find out. Xander accuses Philip of planning to blackmail him out of Victor’s company. Philip responds that he has it all wrong and he can prove it.

Kristen comments that Sarah is obviously still holding a grudge. Sarah argues that Kristen used her paralysis to try to extort Xander’s birth right from him. Kristen calls Sarah a hypocrite for judging others when they both know Xander would do the exact same thing if the shoe was on the other foot. Sarah calls that a lie and says Xander would never stoop so low. Kristen argues that Xander is as ruthless as she is, maybe even more so.

Xander tells Philip that he’s done listening to his excuses. Philip says he can see it for himself. Philip admits he didn’t just stop by to visit Maggie as he presents Xander with a folder that he came to drop off. Philip reveals that he did hire a private investigator but to dig up dirt on DiMera board members, not him. Xander questions why his assistant said he was asking about his past then. Philip reminds Xander of his time working with Kristen and Dr. Rolf, insisting this was about Kristen and not him. Philip explains that his private investigator is compiling information on every member of the DiMera board and if they get dirt on any of them, they might be able to convince them to vote their way. Philip gets why Xander jumped to the wrong conclusion and admits he should’ve asked him first. Xander admits it wasn’t a terrible idea and that there is some good intel in there. Xander asks what Philip took away from it. Philip says there’s not much to exploit. Xander goes through some of the papers and asks about Peter Blake. Philip says that’s Stefano’s adopted son and Kristen’s brother, so he can’t see him flipping on her. Xander asks why not. Philip talks about Peter and Kristen being loyal to one another, especially after everything the Blakes went through together. Xander questions what the story is there.

EJ calls it impossible since Rachel Blake died decades ago. She tells him not to assume he knows anything about her or her family. EJ reveals he is family, he is Kristen’s brother. Rachel Blake argues that he’s not her Peter. Ava clarifies that this is EJ DiMera, Stefano’s son. Rachel Blake remarks that if anyone knows about cheating death, it would be Stefano’s son. EJ questions her about surviving all those years ago. She responds that her death had been exaggerated. EJ argues that Rachel Blake would let her daughter know that she was alive. Ava reveals that Kristen does know as she just witnessed their warm and fuzzy reunion. EJ asks why Kristen hasn’t said anything. Ava responds that’s because Kristen decided to help her captive. Ava warns that the jig is up and that Rachel Blake will wish she was dead when the cops get there. Rachel Blake warns that EJ is not going to help Ava if he knows what’s good for him.

Jada reminds Arnold of the no smoking policy and asks if he’s celebrating his victory. He asks if Paulina gave her the good news. Jada accuses him of stealing her job and says she had to hear it from Shawn because “Rafe” didn’t have the decency to tell her himself. Arnold says not to make it more difficult than they need to. Jada questions if he’s serious right now, arguing that EJ framed her and he helped him do it. Jada says “Rafe” took EJ’s money and dug up the false accusations against him. Arnold remarks that if EJ is framing her, he’s doing a hell of a job. Jada questions what that means. Arnold responds that the more Jada tries to fight this, the more trouble she’s making herself as keeping the accusations out in the public just makes her look worse. Arnold declares that right or wrong, EJ won, so maybe it’s just best for everyone if they just accept what happened and move on with their lives. Jada complains that EJ took her job and her reputation away from her, so if “Rafe” thinks she’s going to do nothing then he’s lost his damn mind.

Belle tells Brady that she gets Ava leaving town was abrupt but going to see Tripp is not that out there. Brady reveals that Ava is not with Tripp and informs Belle that Steve reached out to Tripp, who said he had no idea Ava was going to visit him. Brady adds that there was no record of Ava booking a flight to Hong Kong. Belle guesses she can see why he’s concerned. Brady talks about Steve analyzing the voicemail Ava left him. Belle encourages that if anyone can get to the bottom of it, it’s Steve, and that he will find her. Belle decides her work can wait until tomorrow and says she’s Brady’s for the rest of the night if she can distract him from thinking the worst. Brady suggests talking about what’s going on between Belle and Marlena. Belle doesn’t know where to start. Brady says she can start with when she slept with EJ.

Ava urges EJ not to listen to Rachel Blake, saying she knows he hates her but he can’t let this crazy lady keep her hostage. Rachel Blake warns Ava to watch who she calls crazy. Ava pleads with EJ to get her out but Rachel Blake says that EJ won’t save her. EJ questions her presuming to know what he’s going to do. She threatens to otherwise tell Ava what really brought EJ to her home. Ava demands an answer from EJ as to what she’s talking about. Rachel Blake suggests she and EJ should talk privately. Ava screams that EJ can’t let her do this to her as they step outside together.

Sarah tells Kristen that she’s wrong about Xander as he is nothing like her and doesn’t value money and power over people’s lives. Kristen laughs that off and asks if Sarah has to tell herself that to sleep next to Xander at night. Sarah responds that not everyone is as delusional as Kristen. Kristen says she knows who she is and questions if Sarah knows who her husband is. Kristen argues that if Xander had the leverage over her that she had over him with the serum, he would use it to go after DiMera.

Rachel Blake advises EJ to leave tonight and never tell a soul that he found Ava in her home. EJ asks what if he doesn’t. She reveals that she saw EJ stash a gentleman upstairs, so if he goes to the authorities about Ava, she’ll have to come clean about his special guest and she’s sure the police would love to know what he’s been up to.

Jada questions “Rafe” really suggesting that she not push back against what EJ did to her and just take it lying down when he trashed her name and career. Arnold argues that after some time passes, her scandal won’t be front page news anymore and then he can convince Paulina to hire her back as a detective, working for him. He tells Jada that they can go back to the way things were, both professionally and personally. Arnold then grabs Jada and kisses her but she pushes him off and slaps him. He questions what she did that for. Jada asks how dare he touch her after what he pulled. He claims he was trying to make it up to her. Jada asks if he was that insecure about losing his job to her that he would align himself with EJ just to take her down. Arnold says that’s not how it went. Jada says she’s finally seeing things clearly now and seeing “Rafe” for who he is. Jada calls him a vile pig, threatened by a black woman in power. Jada remarks that it’s like he’s a completely different person than she thought. Jada tells “Rafe” that he can keep the job and his ring because she doesn’t want either one or him as she storms out of the office.

EJ warns Rachel Blake that he doesn’t take kindly to threats. She claims there’s no threat and is just stating the consequence of his actions, so he gets to be the author of what comes next. EJ responds that he won’t be pushed around by her. She asks how he doesn’t see that they are on the same side as he must care about Rachel. She says she’s doing this for Rachel and Kristen. EJ argues that Kristen wouldn’t do something so dangerous. Rachel Blake explains that it was her granddaughter Rachel’s doing but when Kristen found out, she realized they would send Rachel away to a juvenile detention center. She asks EJ if that’s the future he wants for his niece. She asks who deserves a second chance more; Rachel or Ava? She questions EJ hesitating when he clearly has no love for Ava. EJ admits that Ava kidnapped his mother once. She suggests viewing this as karmic retribution and that the scales have finally balanced.

Belle questions Brady about Marlena telling him about her and EJ. Brady confirms that he got an earful while Belle complains that it’s none of Marlena’s business. Brady points out that she did basically walk in on them together while Belle argues that she should’ve knocked first. Brady points out that Belle isn’t saying it was a healthy and wise decision, so he asks what’s going on. Brady asks if this is a rebound from Shawn and remarks that she’s allowed to have a one night stand with someone other than EJ. Belle understands there’s a million reasons why EJ is terrible for her, but says despite all of that, there is an attraction between them that she can’t explain. Belle compares EJ to a puzzle she needs to solve. Brady says this is worse than he thought as she has it really bad.

Sarah asks Kristen what she doesn’t get about Xander becoming a better man for them, so they could be together while Kristen won’t change for anyone which is why Brady is with Ava instead of her. Kristen acknowledges that maybe she’s not in denial about who Xander is and that she’s becoming more like him. Sarah argues that she has no idea what she’s talking about. Kristen calls it a good thing now that Philip is back. Kristen says it has to drive Xander insane to have to split Titan with his brother and jokes that she’s sure Xander is coming up with a million ways to push Philip out. Sarah informs her that things are going great between Xander and Philip. Kristen argues that they both know Xander is not one to share his toys, especially not with his half brother, but guesses he didn’t have a choice once Philip produced the letter from Victor. Sarah decides they are done here as she has to get home. Sarah tells Kristen that she is really glad that Rachel is home safe where she belongs. After Sarah exits, Kristen wonders what the hell is with her.

Xander asks Philip if Stefano was close to Peter and Kristen’s parents and that’s why he adopted them. Philip calls it a little more complicated than that and talks about Kristen’s mother surviving and hiding away in a spooky old house, but says she did eventually die after being caught in an explosion in Paris. Xander calls it a hell of a story and admits he can see why Peter and Kristen would have each other’s backs. Philip talks about all the DiMeras being that way. Xander guesses that makes most of the share holders dead ends. Philip suggests not focusing on the family and brings up one of the largest share holders isn’t a DiMera at all. Xander doesn’t think Wei Shin would even listen to them but Philip feels he has to be holding a grudge after what happened to Li Shin. Philip brings up that EJ and Melinda waited almost a full year before reopening the case against Li’s killer. Philip mentions needing to clean up his spilled drink as Maggie doesn’t need to know about their dust up. Xander apologizes and offers to give him a hand cleaning it up, adding that he thinks it would give Victor a kick to see them working together like real brothers, making Victor proud.

Arnold/”Rafe” follows Jada out of his office to the police station where Shawn asks if she is alright. Jada says she’s not and asks Shawn to get her out of there, so they exit together while Arnold tells the rest of the cops to get back to work as he then walks out.

Sarah comes home to find Philip and Xander cleaning up the spilled drink and asks if she even wants to know. Xander claims they were brainstorming and had a little mess. Philip says it’s getting late so he’ll get out of their hair. Sarah notes that Maggie wanted to ask him to stay for dinner. Philip says that’s generous but room service is calling his name. Xander suggests he should stay, surprising Philip. Sarah points out that he is family. Philip agrees to stay so Xander goes to tell cook to expect one more for dinner. Sarah then asks Philip about the spilled drink and if they got in a fist fight again. Philip calls it a misunderstanding but he thinks they had a break through and are on their way to being great partners and maybe even brothers. Sarah says she really needed to hear that after tonight. Philip asks what happened. Sarah informs him that she had a run in with Kristen that got ugly. Philip asks if it was over what Kristen did to her. Sarah says it was about Philip and Xander as Kristen kept going on about how Xander would never want to share Titan. Sarah says it got her thinking that maybe keeping Philip’s secret wasn’t a good idea and it was all for nothing. Philip encourages that she made the right decision for Xander and their family and to not let Kristen get in her head. Sarah admits that Kristen almost did get in her head, but then Xander asked him to stay for dinner which is huge for him. Sarah declares that if they really did have a break through, then it was worth it. Sarah declares that the only way the family moves forward is if Xander never finds out the letter from Victor was forged.

EJ accuses Rachel Blake of trying to use his hatred of Ava to get him to go along with her twisted kidnapping scheme. She compares it to what EJ did to Rafe. EJ then agrees not to say anything about Ava as long as she agrees not to say anything about the man he tied up upstairs. EJ admits he has his interests but more than anything, he’s doing this for Kristen and Rachel. EJ warns that if anything happens to Ava, he cannot do anything to protect them so he wants her word that she will not hurt Ava or his special guest upstairs. Rachel Blake gives her word and asks if they have a deal. She and EJ then shake hands on it.

Kristen tries calling her mother but she’s not answering. Kristen complains that she needs to know Ava is under her control and wonders what is going on over there.

Ava struggles with being tied up as she tries to reach the phone as it rings.

Shawn brings Jada to the Brady Pub. Jada drinks shots and says she’s thankful that Shawn doesn’t drink because she’s going to need a designated driver. Shawn asks if her conversation with “Rafe” went that bad. She says it was beyond horrible and that “Rafe” had the nerve to tell her to just let things go. Jada declares that she will never let go of what EJ and “Rafe” are doing to her. Jada repeats that it’s like “Rafe” is a completely different person. Jada remarks that at least with her first husband Bobby, he had a mental illness, while she wonders what Rafe’s excuse is. Shawn says sometimes you don’t know the people you love as much as you thought you did. Jada guesses they aren’t talking about Rafe anymore. Shawn confirms it’s Belle and reveals that she slept with EJ again. Jada is surprised and thought Belle had standards. Shawn says it’s none of his business and that Belle said it was a one time thing that wouldn’t happen again, but he’s not sure he believes her. Jada thinks back to finding Belle at the DiMera Mansion and then tells Shawn that maybe he shouldn’t believe her.

Belle tells Brady that she loves him but she’s not going to let him question her love life. Brady says that he’s just telling it like it is as he’s known Shawn a long time and he’s always been true blue and a moral compass while EJ is dangerous. Belle argues that she’s not some teen girl going after the bad boy. Brady asks if she’s sure about that. Belle then admits there might be something alluring about being with someone completely wrong for her. Brady relates to being where she’s at and says he still is since he has to deal with Kristen, who he can’t quite quit. Brady admits it can be punishing so he’s just worried about Belle and wants her to be careful. Belle says he doesn’t have to worry about her, insisting her eyes are wide open when it comes to EJ.

EJ returns to the DiMera Mansion and answers a call from Arnold, saying it’s not a good time so it will have to wait. Arnold says he just had a run in with Jada that got pretty tense. EJ says that’s not surprising or urgent. Arnold tells EJ that Jada said he was like a different person, so he worries that she’s on to them. EJ assures that Jada doesn’t know anything and she won’t as long as Arnold keeps his mouth shut. EJ tells Arnold they will talk about it tomorrow as he has more pressing matters to deal with. EJ hangs up and heads in to the living room where Kristen is pouring a drink. Kristen asks EJ who was on the phone but EJ claims it was no one important. Kristen asks EJ what’s the matter as he looks like he’s seen a ghost. EJ responds that in a way, he has. EJ then tells Kristen that they need to talk about how he met her mother.

Rachel Blake returns to the living room and tells Ava that the restraints are very secure so she won’t be getting loose any time soon. Ava asks where EJ is. She says he couldn’t stay. Ava can’t believe EJ just left her there. Rachel Blake says she’s afraid no one is going to help her.

Philip tells Sarah that nothing is more impotant than family and they agree on that much. Xander returns to the living room and announces they are all set, so dinner should be ready soon. Philip excitedly says he can’t wait and he’ll have to thank Maggie. Xander says Maggie is thrilled that he’s staying and offered to have the staff set up a guest room since it’s late. Philip knows Maggie means well but questions if they should push their luck. Xander brings up thinking about the DiMeras a lot and they have way more bad blood between them than they do, but unlike them, they remain a united front. Xander thinks if they are going to try to take down DiMera, they should take a leaf out of their book. Sarah asks what he means. Xander thinks that until they successfully take over DiMera, Philip should stay at the Kiriakis Mansion. Xander acknowledges that they’ve had their differences but he is his brother, so it’s his house too. Xander then invites Philip to move back in.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Philip made a toast to Victor’s painting and said he was doing what he had to do. Xander walked in on him and said he knew what he did. Philip was afraid that he knew the truth. Xander said he knew about the detective Philip hired to research him. Philip said the detective searched information on the DiMeras board members so they could get them to vote their way. He said the detectives asked about Xander because of his work with Kristen and Rolf. Xander said that was a good idea. He said Peter could side with them, but Philip didn’t think he would. Philip told Xander about the Blake family. They continued talking about the DiMeras. While Kristen was at the bar drinking, she thought about seeing her mother. Sarah showed up to check on her after what happened with Rachel. She said she was happy that Rachel was safe. Kristen thanked her for her concern. She said it was good to see Sarah walking again thanks to the serum. Sarah reminded her that she extorted Xander for the serum. Kristen realized that Sarah wasn’t concerned about Rachel. She said Sarah was holding a grudge against her. They ended up arguing over whether or not Xander would have done the same thing in her position. When Sarah left, Kristen called Rachel, but she didn’t answer.

Arnold was in the commissioner’s office at the police station with his feet up. Jada walked in and was upset that he was getting comfortable in the office. She told him that EJ framed her, but he didn’t care. He told her EJ did a great job of framing her and that she was too toxic for the job. Arnold said this was the best thing for her. Jada said he lost his mind if he thought she was going to take what was happening to her. Arnold told her to let the situation go and he would talk to Paulina about hiring her back as a detective. She was upset at the idea of working for him. He said they would go back to the way things were before. When he kissed her, she slapped him. She said he was a chauvinist who was intimidated by a black woman in charge. Jada took off the ring and said she didn’t want him or the job. When she walked out, she told Shawn to come with her. While EJ was at the Blake house, Rita called him. He let her know that he put Rafe in a safe place. When heard something, he noticed Ava tied to a chair. He took the gag off and asked what she was doing there. She said the two Rachels did that to her. The woman in white showed up. EJ wanted to know who she was. The woman in white asked the same thing. Ava said she was Kristen’s mother. EJ said that wasn’t possible because Rachel was dead. He said he would know because he was Kristen’s brother. Rachel said he wasn’t Peter. EJ said she should let Kristen know she was alive. Ava said Kristen already knew, but she left her there. When EJ started to untie Ava, Rachel said he wouldn’t be helping Ava. Ava asked EJ not to listen to Rachel. Rachel said she knew the real reason why he was there. Rachel and EJ left so they could talk. When they were alone, Rachel told him she saw him put Rafe upstairs. She said if he let Ava go, she would tell the police what he did. Rachel said they were on the same side. She said little Rachel did this so letting Ava go would keep Kristen from her daughter. EJ said Ava kidnapped Susan before. Rachel said to consider it karma. EJ agreed not to say anything as long as she didn’t say anything about Rafe. He said he was doing this for Kristen and Rachel and ordered her not to do anything to Ava and Rafe or he wouldn’t be able to protect Kristen and Rachel. Brady talked to Belle about Ava. He said something was wrong and told her what was going on with Ava. Belle said Steve would find out what was going on. Changing the subject, Brady asked her about EJ. He said Marlena told him about them. Belle was shocked that Marlena was gossiping about her. Brady said he wanted to know what was going on. She told him what was going on with EJ and why she was with him. Brady didn’t like her being with EJ but understood that she wanted to be with someone dangerous. Belle agreed that she wanted to be with someone dangerous. Jada told Shawn about what happened with Rafe. Shawn couldn’t believe Rafe talked to her the way he did. She said Rafe was like a different person. Shawn said you don’t always know the person you love. Jada assumed he was talking about Belle. Shawn told her Belle slept with EJ. She thought about seeing Belle at the DiMera mansion and told him that she probably slept with EJ again. Arnold called EJ and told him that Jada was on to him being different. EJ told him to calm down. When he got off the phone, he ran into Kristen. He told her that he met her mother. Rachel told Ava that EJ wouldn’t help her. She said no one would help her.

ERIC: Is there any news from behind enemy lines today? No. We had a really nice conversation with Steffy,

but not about the takeover.

Yeah. That’s true. Carter and Hope never even came up.

Not even for a minute.

That’s good. That’s all we’ve been talking about for weeks. And once again, we’re talking about it. You know what? I’m not sure what bothers me more– that Carter would do this or that Brooke would join him. Hey, I know it’s hard to stay positive, but remember–Steffy has a plan.

[huffs]

One of these days soon, hopefully, she will pull off a miracle and Forrester will be back in your hands. HOPE: Do we have everything in order? CARTER: Well, team… today’s the day. Finally. The jewelry line drops. I talked to Ivy, and she’s excited but nervous. It’s Forrester’s first big moment since the change in command. And the first big step into transforming this place into a global luxury brand. Hey, where’s that smile? Thought you’d be a little more excited about this. Is there a reason not to be? [quiet music plays] Daphne, thank you, really. I appreciate everything you’re doing. It’s terrible what’s going on to your family, all because of Carter. Well, Carter lost his way, and it’s because he was brainwashed by Hope. Something I’ll get him to see. Look, now that Operation Carter Walton has shifted from a seduction to an attempt at appealing to his integrity and goodness… There’s no need to rule out the seduction aspect just yet. But, yes, appealing to his sense of goodness should work. Daphne, we just really need to succeed, okay? We need to rid Forrester Creations of the Logans once and for all. I’ve spent enough time with Carter now… have a good read on him. But I agree with you, Steffy. Even though I didn’t know him before, there seems to be a big shift happening within him. Well, it’s because of Hope. She changed him. The change isn’t permanent, and he can find himself again. You really admire him, don’t you? Oui. He’s not only very successful, he’s also very handsome. [laughing] So this really isn’t a big sacrifice for you, helping me out. Well, helping a dear friend is my priority. Yes. But I will say… …it’s also a personal mission rescuing Carter from Hope Logan. I think I know what’s going on here. You are purposely trying to downplay this, aren’t you? You’re afraid that this isn’t going to be a success. Carter… I guarantee you this jewelry line is going to be a massive hit. It is. It’s okay to be proud. It’s okay to allow yourself to actually enjoy this moment. This is your moment. This is all happening because of you, and you have earned this. You’ve earned that seat behind the desk. Now, go enjoy it. [moody music plays] Has Steffy said anything more about this plan of hers? Not really, but it seems like something else is…evolving. Evolving how? Well, Steffy wants to appeal to Carter’s conscience, make him feel like what he did was wrong

and that Hope is using him.

Really. Well, good luck with that. Uh, Steffy, do you– [exhales] Hmm. Was Daphne just in here with you? [door clicks shut] Mmm. How’s it possible? Ha. Every day, an even more intoxicating scent. I thought you would like it. Spicier than the previous one, don’t you think? Yeah. Spicier. Big day. Jewelry line drop. I’ve been thinking of you, Carter. [whimsical music plays] I wanna believe there’s a part of Carter that

still knows right from wrong.

But you can’t. I mean, you know as well as I do that he’s not gonna all of a sudden develop some kind of a conscience and a realization that what he’s done is a betrayal of–the worst betrayal in the world. I mean, it’s an impossibility. I understand why you’d say that. And I understand why you’re both so skeptical. I don’t understand why you’re not skeptical. Not that I trust Brooke as a source, but she did mention it the other day that she’s been talking to Carter about his motives, his regrets. Okay. Just because Brooke thinks that Carter’s second-guessing himself doesn’t mean that he is. But I think he is, professionally speaking. And as someone who knows him well enough, I believe that the Carter Walton we’ve all loved and respected over the years still exists. He’s in there somewhere. Just needs to be drawn out of him by the right person. You coming on to me? Would you be surprised? [door opens] Hey, hiya, boss. Uh, listen, I got those security clearances you wanted. Everybody passed except for you. Ha ha. It’s a joke. [sniffing] Oh, I knew it. It’s the lovely Daphne Rose. So good to smell you again. I-I mean see–see you a-a-gain. Charlie. You can put the clearances on the table.

Thank you.

Yeah, okay. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to-to interrupt and– [sniffing] I-is that, uh, cinnamon? No, no. You know what? It’s cardamom with a touch of vanilla. Mm. Good guess. But incorrect. Orange blossom. With, uh-eh–no, rose hips?

Charles!

Okay. I-I’m sorry. You know what? I’m gonna buy a bottle of this for a little lady friend of mine in Genoa City. We still gonna have that employee discount thing? You know, is that gonna– O-okay, whatever it costs. I will–I will pay it. Not-not a problem at all. I– How can that not be vanilla? My sniffer is just failing me. Wow. Well, he’s wrong about what he smelled, but he’s right about the fragrance being a hit. I’m confident it will be a success just like the jewelry line. It will be. But how sweet does success be? What do you mean? Can you truly celebrate all your successes knowing well how everything came about? Running Forrester Creations without the Forresters? It’s strange to me. To you too. Am I right, Carter? No, Daphne was here. There’s no mistaking one of her…irresistible scents. Well, you’re right. Daphne and her fragrances are very intoxicating. Yes, indeed, she is. Look, there’s actually a few things I wanted to discuss

regarding, uh…

Everything okay in here? Uh, yeah. Yeah, everything’s fine. But if we’re talking about the current state of Forrester Creations, I wouldn’t say great. Steffy, what happened to you trying to be onboard with everything? Well, I’m not on board with the coup–you know that. I’m here to work hard, keeping my nose to the grindstone, but I’m not gonna let anyone destroy my family legacy. Mm! Speaking of work, the jewelry launch is today and I think that will be the first piece of evidence that shows that the new power structure here at Forrester Creations is a success, what with Carter in charge of the LLC and my brilliant and talented mother as CEO. Okay. I already know about the drop, Hope. We know. Okay, well…[clears throat] you don’t have to like how my mother, Carter, and I are running things here, but I do hope that you can learn to accept it. Be best for everyone. Because nothing is going to change this, Steffy, not even you. [lightly edgy music plays] Your theory is that Hope turned Carter into some ugly version of himself and that someone else can turn him back. Mm-hmm. Steffy, maybe. Or this Daphne woman, if using her is part of her plan. Brooke, even. Any one of them can say the right thing at the right time and really get him to reflect on what he’s done. I’ve seen it in my practice and with patients that different situations and different people can come into someone’s life and affect subtle changes. Just like what happened with Carter with Hope’s influence. Okay, but this change in Carter is not subtle. He’s not at all the man he used to be. Right. But what I want you to understand is that who someone is– their core values, their beliefs, their principles– it all stays the same. Who he once was, he will be again. Don’t give up on him. There’s a really good chance that Carter will come out of this fog and realize what he’s done.

Steffy:  Well, you’re right about one thing, Hope. I absolutely do not like what happened here at Forrester. It stinks of betrayal and dishonesty. Well, somehow I doubt you will still feel that way once the profits start rolling in. Or massive debt. That remains to be seen. And what happens then? Will this be the downfall of Forrester Creations? Thank God my grandmother’s not here witnessing this. But my dad and my grandfather… is their legacy just gonna fade away? Do you understand the impact this is having on them?

Excuse me.

Steffy:  Brooke, what’s wrong? I just need a minute. Well, what do you know? I think Brooke is realizing what you and Carter have done is wrong. My nose doesn’t only excel at fragrances but with people as well. Sensing what’s going on in people’s minds and hearts. I can sense when someone isn’t being true to themselves. And that’s something you believe about me? About you… when it comes to Hope. She’s got you wrapped around her fingers. Okay, Daphne. [huffs] You deny? It’s clear as day, Carter. You’ve never been married but you wanna be. You want someone to commit to you and only you. You want attention, love, and Hope’s giving it to you. Giving something that feels like it, at least. Whatever you wanna call it. You’re addicted to it now. You’d do anything to make it last, anything for Hope. Even stab a close friend in the back and steal his company. But this takeover doesn’t feel right to you, does it? Being a part of this… it’s not who you really are, Carter. Think long and hard about what I’ve said. [edgy music plays]

Ridge: Carter thinks he’s right because he’s delusional. My-my friend, my… my former friend is gone. He was more than just a friend. He was like a brother to you. You trusted him implicitly. And part of you, I think, is still in shock that he could betray his friend, his brother, in such a horrible way. I feel exactly the same way. Complete utter shock. [sighs] Dad, you know what? I’m angry. I’m really angry this happened. But there is a sadness to this. There’s a heartbreak to it. ‘Cause we lost a friend. We lost someone we loved and we trusted. He’s gone because of Hope. You know what, Hope? I think your mom is realizing what you and Carter have done is wrong. I think she probably just wanted to get away from the tension, which is something that I am looking forward to doing, so… No, you know what I’m sensing about your mom? She’s a reluctant CEO and she’s not buying your coup anymore. My father, my mother, they’re back together, and your mom is alone. Is it…because of the coup, or is it because of your father’s inability to commit? No, obviously, your mother’s conscience is weighing on her. Steffy, stop being so ridiculous.

Am I?

Yes, you are. You are reading far too much into this. Obviously, my mother is upset about your father going back to Taylor yet again. But her conscience is clear. The Logans are finally getting the respect they deserve here at work– respect, accolades that will last for years to come, thanks to Carter’s dream becoming a reality. My mother is thrilled to be CEO. It’s a position that she not only deserves but one that she has earned. And together, Carter and my mother are going to lead Forrester Creations into the future, together. And they make quite the team. I know it’s none of my business,

but shouldn’t you…

Shouldn’t I what? Be listening to what Daphne had to say? It seems like she had some pretty interesting insights into you…

Brooke, I don’t know–

…suggesting that what we’re doing here isn’t right– you behind that desk, me as CEO while Eric and Ridge are just… sitting at home? You and I have something very much in common, Carter. We do. We have a mutual love for Hope. Yes, we do, for Hope. But also for somebody else. Ridge. Ridge. And we both lost him because of this takeover. Now, I know it’s probably a different loss for you, but I know that you still loved him. Yeah, I still do. I’m sure that you miss him. Probably just as much as I do. Brooke, why the tears? You know why! You can deny it all you want. But I know that you’re crying inside too, Carter. [dramatic chords]

Ridge: You’re the new COO of Forrester. What, a promotion, a seat on the board? I can’t turn that down. Of course I’m in. You’ve earned it. I’m looking forward to the challenge. [moody music plays] -You’re like family to me. -Like family? No, we are family. Come here. Thanks, man.

Brooke: You miss Ridge and so do I. How much longer can we let this go on, Carter? Ridge belongs here at Forrester. [heavy music plays]

Recap written by Suzanne

Ridge, Taylor and Eric discuss Carter’s betrayal for the thousandth time. They think Hope brainwashed Carter, but they hope that Steffy’s plan will work. Taylor thinks that Carter still has a conscience and that someone can chance his mind; she thinks he can get back to his core values. Ridge disagrees. He thinks Carter is gone for good. He’s very sad and has a flashback to happier times with Carter.

Carter, Brooke and Hope are in his office, getting ready for the new jewelry launch. Carter doesn’t look happy, which Hope notices. She thinks maybe he’s just downplaying it, but she encourages him to be proud of what he’s accomplishing. Brooke watches him sympathetically, knowing that he’s feeling guilty.

Steffy and Daphne briefly discuss Carter, and then Daphne leaves. Hope walks in, and she can smell Daphne’s latest perfume. Hope hopes that Steffy she can learn to accept what’s going on at Forrester Creations. Steffy says she’ll never think their coup was the right thing. She’s doubtful that their plans will work; she’s worried about debt and the downfall of the company. Brooke has to leave suddenly. Steffy thinks that Brooke regrets the coup. She and Hope argue.

Daphne visits Carter to give him a guilt trip about the coup. She thinks he’s not being true to himself and is wrapped around Hope’s little finger. Brooke walks up to Carter’s office (the door is open). She sees Daphne working on him. Daphne leaves, so Brooke works on him, too. She reminds him that they both love Hope and Ridge.
