Chad asks Thomas what’s going on and if he’s sick. Thomas says it’s his heart because Chad told him that Cat was just his friend, but Rachel said she’s his girlfriend. Thomas guesses that’s why Chad was at Cat’s house last night and calls him a liar. Chad explains that he went to Cat’s house to do some work when the power went out. Thomas asks if that’s it. Chad then confirms that he and Cat have feelings for each other.

Cat meets with Rafe in his office. Rafe asks if she learned anything new at her lunch with Gwen. Cat responds that she actually did.

Jeremy Horton shows up at Stephanie’s door with a bouquet of flowers. Stephanie is shocked and asks what he’s doing there. Jeremy responds that he needed to see her.

Steve and Kayla sit together at the Brady Pub. Steve brings up Brady calling to tell him that Tate and Tesoro were not a DNA match and that Kayla is running the test again. Kayla insists that there won’t be a different outcome since she oversaw the test herself and the chance of error was zero. Steve says he was so sure they were onto something. Jennifer then arrives to surprise them.

Chad tells Thomas that he and Cat did start out as just friends but it turned in to something more. Thomas questions when, arguing that he asked him a few weeks ago if he liked her and he said no. Chad apologizes for not telling him and Charlotte sooner, saying he needed to figure out his feelings. Chad asks why Thomas seems angry since he thought he liked Cat. Thomas says not anymore. Chad points out that Thomas liked Stephanie when he dated her. Thomas then shouts that Stephanie wasn’t living in the DiMera Mansion, pretending to be his mom.

Cat tells Rafe about Gwen getting trapped in the free clinic at the hospital. Rafe questions what she was doing there. Cat explains that EJ was hitting her up for a sizable donation to the hospital and that she got stuck behind an electric security door. Rafe comments on her being stuck with EJ for all that time, but Cat says the strange part is that EJ wasn’t there.

Jennifer joins Kayla and Steve at the Pub. Jennifer thanks Kayla for agreeing to help her with her article. Kayla says it’s an honor to be paying tribute to Tom Horton while Jennifer talks about how touched she was when Chad asked her to write the article. Jennifer then informs them about Jeremy coming back to town.

Stephanie questions why Jeremy needed to see her. Jeremy thought they could talk. Stephanie says he could’ve just called but Jeremy says he wanted to bring her flowers as a peace offering. Stephanie questions how he found her. He informs her that Julie gave her the address. He adds that he was in town for a job interview and stopped by to see her when he saw Alex and assumed she lived there. Jeremy asks if he can come in but Stephanie says no and that Alex will be back soon. Stephanie adds that she has a ton of work to do. Jeremy promises not to take up much of her time and asks for just a few minutes, so she allows him in.

Chad questions who told Thomas that Cat pretended to be his mother. Thomas tells him it was Rachel and questions why Cat would do that and why Chad would believe she was Abigail when she doesn’t look anything like her. Chad calls it very complicated. Thomas guesses this is what Jack and Jennifer couldn’t forgive Cat for which Chad confirms. Thomas asks how Chad could forgive her and why he’d want someone so mean to be his girlfriend.

Rafe questions Cat about EJ leaving Gwen in his new hospital wing. Cat says that Gwen said he had an errand and she also feels it’s suspicious but didn’t ask questions. Cat adds that EJ doesn’t strike her as being cool with outsiders being in his inner sanctum so something doesn’t add up. Rafe agrees that something must be going on.

Jennifer begins recording her interview with Kayla, who talks about Tom Horton being very encouraging of her and making her feel she could do anything. Kayla talks about it being Tom’s advice that she become a doctor. Jennifer tells Steve that she’d love to hear his impressions of Tom too. Steve calls Tom one of the best men he ever knew. Steve says the hospital was lucky to have him running the show for all those years and now they are lucky to have Kayla. Kayla calls it enormous shoes to fill. Steve says it takes a special person to be chief of staff of a busy hospital and Kayla handles it beautifully day in and day out. Kayla says it helps that she always feels like Tom is by her side and she prays for his strength and guidance when she needs it.

Stephanie tells Jeremy to say what he came to say. Jeremy starts by congratulating her on One Stormy Night, guessing that she is Anastasia Sands. Stephanie asks why he would think that. Jeremy brings up the scene of sex in the cockpit at 20,000 feet. Stephanie tries to say plenty of people join the mile high club. Stephanie adds that she’s in a serious relationship now. Jeremy repeats that the flowers were just a peace offering. Jeremy tells her that he has so many regrets about how he treated her and wonders how he could’ve blown something so badly as the most important thing in his life. Jeremy states that he came to see her because he figured she’d find out he’s back in town and he wants her to know that she has nothing to worry about. Jeremy says she will live her life and he will live his.

Jennifer thanks Kayla for taking the time to do this. Kayla and Steve say they could go on about Tom forever. Kayla talks about being thrilled that the hospital is honoring Tom in this way. Jennifer calls it way overdue and says it would’ve meant the world to him. Kayla and Steve tell Jennifer that they know she’s eager to get to the house to see Julie and the grandkids. Jennifer states that she is, but admits there is tension between her and Chad because of Cat Green. Steve asks if something is going on between them. Jennifer says that’s what she’d like to know.

Rafe and Cat talk about the possibility of whatever’s going on between Gwen and EJ having to do with the blackout. Cat questions the high security electronic door. Rafe remarks that EJ does love a secret room and questions EJ not giving Cat a tour of the construction site. Rafe suggests she ask EJ to put that on the to-do list. Cat says that’s exactly what she was thinking.

Jennifer explains to Steve and Kayla that Chad told her that he and Cat were just friends, but she senses it’s more than that. Jennifer doesn’t know how Chad can tolerate being around Cat. Jennifer remarks that it’s bad enough having Cat stay in Salem but now her brother Mark was granted parole. Jennifer calls it shocking because she and Jack wrote out statements imploring that Mark be denied early release. Steve asks if Chad gave a statement. Jennifer complains that Chad was making excuses for Mark and that he’s not a threat anymore and that he only did what he did because of Clyde held their mother captive. Jennifer can’t believe Chad would defend Mark when he’s the one who tampered with the DNA test to make them believe Abigail was alive and almost orphaned her grandchildren. Jennifer argues that she’s sure Cat can get Mark his job back with EJ because she’s convinced that Cat has everybody brainwashed. Kayla knows Cat has hurt Jennifer and Jack terribly, but tells her that she’s been working with Cat at the hospital and she’s really trying to make amends, doing great work with Marlena and the hospital fundraiser. Jennifer questions if Cat has Kayla on her side too. Kayla encourages Jennifer not to hold on to this anger. Jennifer asks if Steve’s going to tell her how wonderful Cat is too. Steve says he’s not defending what Cat and her brother did, but if Clyde had his family captive, he would do what he needed to do too. Jennifer questions just letting go of the fact that Cat was pretending to be her murdered daughter back from the dead. Kayla knows Cat hurt her in the worst way but advises her against holding on to the rage inside of her. Jennifer asks if she’s supposed to take Cat out to lunch. Kayla says they’ve all needed forgiveness at some point in their life. Kayla states that they have loved people who are lost, troubled, and violent but they were able to change for the better because they were forgiven. Steve states that he was one of those people and so is Jack. Kayla says she has known forgiveness and brings up a time when Abigail was suffering terribly and felt that her husband and son would be better off without her. Jennifer argues that Abigail was mentally ill. Kayla points out that she felt her only choice was to disappear forever and a lot of people thought that was an unspeakable thing to do but Jennifer understood Abigail did what she did to protect her family even though she hurt them. Jennifer asks what her point is. Kayla points out that Jennifer was able to forgive Abigail so she thinks she’s capable of forgiving Cat. Jennifer refuses, arguing that Cat wasn’t mentally ill. Kayla argues that Cat was desperate and made the only choice to protect her family. Kayla thinks forgiving her could help take away Jennifer’s pain and she wants her to be free of this.

Stephanie tells Jeremy that it shouldn’t be too hard for them to live their own lives as most people don’t know what he did to her. Stephanie adds that her parents know a little, but not everything. Jeremy says he’s grateful for that as he was in a bad place back then, but that’s not who he is anymore. Stephanie admits she heard he turned his life around and she’s glad, but she wasn’t trying to protect him by keeping what he did to herself. Stephanie says she was ashamed. Jeremy tells her that what happened between them was all on him and he’s so sorry for everything. Jeremy admits he could’ve called and told her this on the phone, but he thought he needed to apologize in person. Stephanie says she appreciates that and that he’s willing to take responsibility. Jeremy says it’s the least he could do and then he read her book. Stephanie hoped he wouldn’t and asks him not to tell anyone that she wrote it. Jeremy promises not to tell a soul. Stephanie thanks him and guesses his interview went well since Julie told her that he got a job. Stephanie asks if he’s still flying planes. Jeremy informs her that his flying days are over and he’s a teacher now. Jeremy reveals that he’s going to be teaching at Salem Elementary and that Thomas will be one of his students. Stephanie questions how he can be a teacher when he has a serious criminal record and was on the run. Jeremy responds that he realized he didn’t want to live like that, so he turned himself in, worked things out with law enforcement and all the charges were dropped. Stephanie guesses he got a second chance. Jeremy says he was determined not to blow it, went right to therapy and started doing volunteer work where he discovered he has a connection with kids so he went back to school and became a teacher. Stephanie finds it hard to imagine him as a teacher. Jeremy assures he’s a changed man and calls Salem the perfect place to prove it. Jeremy knows it’s a lot to process and thanks her for giving him a chance to say his peace. Jeremy tells her to take care as he then exits.

Chad tells Thomas that the situation with Cat is complicated and he’s very sorry for not being straight with him. Chad promises to tell him the truth from now on as he doesn’t want there to be any secrets between them. Thomas complains that Cat turned Chad into a liar and screams that he doesn’t want to listen to him ever again as Jennifer arrives. Thomas runs in to Jennifer’s arms as she questions what happened.

Stephanie dumps Jeremy’s flowers in the trash as Kayla shows up at her door. Kayla knew she was working from home so she brought her a burger from the Pub. Kayla admits she had another reason to stop by as she can’t wrap her head around the fact that Stephanie is Anastasia Sands. Stephanie complains that she wasn’t supposed to know and she wouldn’t know if it wasn’t for the blackout. Kayla understands that Stephanie’s fans were excited about the Q&A and she didn’t want to let them down. Kayla adds that she’s just sorry that EJ found out. Stephanie says she couldn’t let EJ go on thinking that Kayla was Anastasia Sands. Kayla says that Stephanie is obviously tremendously talented and she has a big hit, but she never would’ve thought she wrote it. Kayla adds that she didn’t tell Steve. Stephanie says it’s bad enough that Steve read it while Kayla feels she should take that as a compliment. Kayla repeats that it’s a big hit and says she’s so proud of her. Kayla knows the hard work that goes in to writing a book and getting it published. Stephanie thanks her and says that means a lot. Kayla adds that there is another reason she came by. Kayla informs Stephanie that Jennifer is in town and she told her that her nephew Jeremy is also in town. Stephanie reveals that he was just there.

Rafe reminds Cat that it’s been awhile since they’ve worked on her self defense training. Cat assures that she’s been working on it. Rafe says he’d like to give her another lesson since they are investigating EJ and there’s no telling what they will come up against. Cat agrees that she would like to learn some new moves and says to let her know when works for him. Rafe asks if everything else is alright. Cat says everything is good. Rafe questions if it is since she’s checked her phone like ten times since being here. Cat guesses she can’t get anything past him. Cat informs Rafe that she and Chad are going public with their relationship. Rafe is surprised and says he didn’t know. Cat says no one did and they just decided to do it but she’s a little nervous about Chad talking to his family today and she hasn’t heard back. Cat calls it an obviously very delicate conversation. Rafe suggests Chad is probably just trying to figure out what to say or they are still talking. Cat worries that he could be avoiding her because it was a complete disaster.

Jennifer asks what is going on and what happened. Chad apologizes and claims they are fine. Jennifer argues that it didn’t seem fine. Chad says they just need a minute to finish their conversation. Jennifer asks what Chad said that had Thomas so upset and says to tell her what’s going on. Thomas then shouts that Chad is dating Cat Green.

Kayla questions Jeremy being in Stephanie’s apartment and what he wanted. Stephanie explains that he wanted to tell her that he worked hard to turn his life around and that he was a changed man, then he promised to leave her alone. Kayla asks if she believes him. Stephanie admits he seemed sincere but she’s not sure.

Cat walks through the town square with Felicity. Felicity asks when Mark will be home. Cat says she knows it will be soon. Felicity feels bad thinking Cat was all alone during the blackout but Cat reveals she wasn’t alone.

Jennifer tells Chad that she knew it. Chad asks if they can table this until he can finish talking to Thomas. Thomas yells that he doesn’t want to talk to him and runs upstairs.

Cat informs Felicity that Chad was at their place during the blackout and ended up staying over. Cat adds that it turns out Felicity was right all along and now everyone is going to know because they decided to tell their families that they are dating.

Jennifer complains that she knew this was going to happen as soon as Chad let that vile woman in to his life. Chad apologizes as this is not how he wanted her to find out. Jennifer asks what about his son. Chad says he said he was sorry and that he’d find a way to explain it to him. Jennifer calls it inexplicable that he’s dating Abigail’s impostor. Jennifer can’t imagine the confusion and betrayal going through Thomas’s mind. Jennifer questions in what universe he thought getting romantically involved with Cat would be remotely okay. Chad asks if she’s done because he has to go talk to Thomas. Jennifer says she’s not as Chad walks out.

Stephanie tells Kayla that she doesn’t love that Jeremy is back in Salem but she’s willing to believe he changed and give him a second chance as they all deserve. Kayla asks her to promise to keep her eyes open and her guard up which she agrees to do.

Rafe joins Steve at the Brady Pub. Rafe says he spoke to Brady and he’s sorry the DNA test didn’t work out. Steve appreciates Rafe getting the sample from Tesoro to make things easier. Rafe asks if Steve called because he has another lead on Tate’s baby. Steve says unfortunately no, but he was hoping Rafe could look in to someone else on the down low. Rafe asks who. Steve reveals that it’s Jeremy Horton.

Alex greets Stephanie at home and comments on her tossing and turning last night. Stephanie talks about still being upset over what happened at the hospital. Stephanie can’t believe she thought it was a good idea to use Kayla’s office for her blog tour. Alex says she needed a place to work with power and it would’ve been fine if EJ wasn’t such a micromanaging jerk. Stephanie adds that now EJ knows her secret. Alex reminds her that he’s not going to out her since he needs her at the hospital. Stephanie worries that EJ could go back on his word and asks how soon before he uses it against her that she is Anastasia Sands, feeling it could wreck her PR business. Alex thinks she could neutralize that by coming clean herself.

Cat runs in to Chad in the town square and calls it a nice surprise. They joke that they just saw each other this morning but it feels like forever. Chad says he feels over the moon while Cat says she feels happier than she’s been in a really long time.

Julie brings Thomas home from school and says she wouldn’t have taken him if she knew he didn’t feel good. Julie checks that he has no fever. Thomas says he just wants to go upstairs and sleep.

EJ goes home to the DiMera Mansion where Gwen is in the living room, questioning where he has been. EJ is not in the mood. Gwen complains that he left her alone locked in the clinic all night during the blackout. EJ mocks her. Gwen then reveals that she wasn’t alone for the entire duration because Leo found her and helped her out.

Cat thought Chad was going straight home. Chad says he got an alert about fried equipment during the blackout at the Spectator, so he had to go check on it but he’s going home now. Cat asks if he still plans to tell his family about them. Chad confirms there’s no going back now. Chad asks if Cat is having second thoughts. Cat assures she isn’t and just wishes she was as optimistic as he is about telling his family. Chad declares that once this is over, they won’t have any more secrets and can see each other whenever they want. Chad says that includes right in the middle of the town square as he kisses her.

Stephanie questions Alex thinking she should come clean about being Anastasia Sands. Alex thinks it would strengthen her brand and encourages that she would find a way to spin it. Stephanie feels maybe they are getting ahead of themselves. Stephanie points out that Kayla agreed not to say anything and EJ promised to keep quiet. Alex worries that if EJ figures out a way to use it to his advantage, he definitely will so he thinks they should take that power away from him. Stephanie responds that it’s not just her PR career that she’s worried about. Stephanie reminds Alex that she based an encounter in the book on an ex and she really doesn’t want him to see it. Stephanie wishes she hadn’t written about that at all. Alex argues that writers use real life inspiration in their novels all the time. Alex asks if she honestly thinks he would read it, claiming if one of his exes wrote a novel, it would stay on the shelf. Stephanie questions if he wouldn’t be a little bit curious if an ex of his wrote a best selling sexy romance novel. Alex then admits he sees her point. Alex goes over the scenario of her ex finding out she wrote a book, picks it up, and skims through chapters somewhere in the world as he then wonders if it could be about him. Alex thinks he would just chuckle to himself and move on, so he doesn’t think it would be that terrible. Stephanie then reveals to Alex that her ex is on his way back to Salem.

EJ demands that Gwen make sure Leo remains clueless about their behind the scenes operation at the Dr. Tom Horton Free Clinic. EJ questions how the hell Leo got her out since the backup battery for the security door has yet to be installed. Gwen reveals that Leo had to put a hole in the wall with a crowbar. EJ questions letting him do that while Gwen questions EJ leaving her stuck there. EJ then reveals he was also stuck in an elevator which shocks Gwen, who asks why he didn’t say that from the beginning. Gwen asks if he was alone. EJ admits he was with Belle, so Gwen says he will have to tell her everything.

Chad goes home where Julie is reading the Spectator and worries to Chad about the power outage being caused by the clinic at the hospital. Julie hopes there won’t be more issues since a lot of family is coming to town to honor Tom’s legacy. Chad says not to worry and assures that EJ knows how important it is to Salem and Tom’s family, so he’s sure he is on top of it. Chad asks how it went with the kids last night. Julie says it was wonderful and they were great. Julie informs Chad that Thomas wasn’t feeling well when she picked him up from school and he’s asleep now. Julie notes that he doesn’t have a cough or a fever. Chad says she should’ve called him. Julie didn’t want to do that when he was busy getting the paper up and running after the blackout. Chad thanks her for taking such good care of him and watching him. Julie says it’s always a pleasure. Julie then asks how Chad’s evening with Cat Green was.

Paulina finds Cat in the town square and asks where EJ is hiding. Cat informs her that EJ is working from home today. Paulina complains that she’s left several messages summoning him to her office which he has ignored. Cat calls that strange and doesn’t know why he isn’t answering. Cat asks what is so urgent. Paulina reveals that they strongly suspect that his hospital construction is what caused the blackout last night and if so, he needs to take responsibility. Cat promises to let him know, so Paulina thanks her and walks away. Cat then pulls out her phone and calls Rafe. Cat says she has that lunch she told him about but asks Rafe to meet her after.

EJ tells Gwen that there’s nothing to tell and that he and Belle just happened to be leaving the hospital at the same time when the power went out, so they were stuck there for awhile. Gwen is sure EJ was happy to be with Belle and try to worm his way back in to her good graces. Paulina then walks in and tells EJ that there is no excuse for him to be ignoring his mayor’s calls. Gwen agrees and then says she has to get to lunch, so she exits. Paulina then asks EJ what he has to say for himself. EJ informs her that he only just got home after spending the night in an elevator. Paulina argues that was hours ago and she left him countless messages, adding that he knows damn well why she’s there.

Alex questions how Stephanie knows her ex is on his way back to Salem. Stephanie reveals that she found out from his cousin. Alex asks about him having family in town then questions who this guy is, why she won’t tell him, and who his cousin is. Stephanie then informs Alex that it’s Jeremy Horton.

Julie questions Chad happening to be in Cat’s apartment when the power failed. Chad explains that Cat is EJ’s assistant so she’s coordinating the details for the gala event for the clinic and the Spectator are involved in promoting and supporting it, so EJ thought it would be a great idea for them to put their heads together. Julie asks if it was all EJ’s idea then. Chad says it wasn’t some nefarious plot and that they are all trying to work together for Tom’s memory. Chad adds that Cat thinks it’s amazing that Jennifer is writing the article for the Spectator. Julie blows that off and says she’s trying to imagine Chad and Cat sitting in the dark all night, talking about Tom’s legacy and asks if that’s how it happened. Chad hoped to have a conversation with her about something kind of important. Jeremy Horton then appears, surprising Julie.

Cat and Gwen go to lunch at the Bistro. Gwen says she’s glad they are finally doing this. Cat asks where Gwen was during the blackout. Gwen reveals that she was trapped at the free clinic construction site all night. Cat asks what she was doing there. Gwen explains that EJ is courting her for a donation, so she thought she would cast her eye on things, then he said he had an errand to run and he left for awhile, leaving her behind an electronic security door so she was trapped when the power went out.

EJ tells Paulina that he has no idea why she has graced his doorstep. Paulina asks if he has any idea how much his free clinic cost the city. EJ questions her believing what Leo Stark came up with to drum up clicks. Paulina reveals the city power company confirmed to her personally that a power surge caused the blackout at the planned Dr. Tom Horton Free Clinic. Paulina hopes EJ is ready to pay a utility bill or a sizable fine. EJ responds that he’s sorry but he won’t be paying a cent and there’s not a damn thing she can do about it.

Jeremy tells Julie and Chad that he’ll be staying for awhile. Julie says her part of the family couldn’t be happier. Julie talks about Jeremy reminding her of Mike and Bill as she hugs him. Julie can’t believe Jeremy is really there since it’s been so long since she’s seen him. Jeremy brings up hearing Doug is gone and how hard it’s been for Julie. Julie credits her wonderful family and Chad’s kids brightening the days for her. Jeremy tells Chad how sorry he is for his loss as well. Chad says Abigail always spoke fondly of her cousin Jeremy, so it’s good to finally put a face to the name. Jeremy calls Abigail very kind even when he didn’t deserve it. Julie calls that the past and a long time ago. Chad asks what brings Jeremy back to town. Jeremy says he was at a crossroads in life and went back to school to become a teacher. Jeremy reveals that he was offered a long term position at Salem Elementary to teach 5th grade which excites Chad and Julie as Julie reveals that Jeremy will be teaching Chad’s son Thomas.

Alex didn’t know Stephanie dated a Horton. Stephanie calls it not something she wants to relive. Alex asks if she minds telling him why. Stephanie informs him that Jeremy was trouble and ran an airline that was a front for an illegal smuggling operation which got her and some friends mixed up in dangerous situations. Alex always thought the Hortons were saints. Stephanie says most of them are, but Jeremy was an exception. Alex asks if that’s why she never really talked about him before or if there’s something more. Stephanie admits there’s something more. Alex reminds her that she can tell him anything and asks if Jeremy hurt her. Stephanie clarifies that he didn’t hit her, but he was abusive in other ways. Alex asks what he did but Stephanie would rather not talk about that. Stephanie states that all she will say is that she was much younger when she dated Jeremy, so she made excuses for his behavior. Stephanie admits when things were good, they were great, but when they were bad, they were awful.

Cat is sorry to hear Gwen got trapped. Gwen jokes that now she has this really good story to tell while dining out. Gwen asks about Cat’s blackout experience. Cat says she was at home. Gwen asks if she was by herself but Cat admits Chad was with her which surprises Gwen. Gwen notes that Chad is quite good at holding grudges. Cat says she’s found him really forgiving so Gwen says maybe Cat brings out the best in Chad. Gwen asks if Chad is a frequent house guest of her. Cat explains that EJ wanted her to meet with Chad about the gala and the Spectator but Chad was already ahead of them and had Jennifer working on an article about Tom Horton. They talk about Jennifer being Gwen’s stepmother. Cat bets Jennifer hates her a lot more than she hates Gwen which Gwen laughs off. Gwen tells Cat that her life would be a thousand times better if she doesn’t care about Jennifer. Gwen encourages that developing thick skin comes with being universally hated then comments that she knew they would be fast friends.

Paulina warns EJ to drop the attitude or he’ll have more to worry about than a utility bill. EJ asks if that’s a threat. Paulina calls it a warning because if he refuses to cooperate with the city cleaning up his mess, he’ll be hearing from the city attorney. EJ warns her not to escalate this because it was Salem’s aging power grid that caused the transformer to blow which caused the blackout which Paulina doesn’t believe. EJ adds that if Paulina does try to take him to court, he will counter sue the city for gross negligence and he will have Stephanie and Leo on articles that the city is delaying the start of the Tom Horton Free Clinic.

Julie encourages that Jeremy will be a wonderful teacher. Jeremy appreciates her faith in him. Jeremy mentions having to run an errand. Julie hoped he would have lunch with them, so he assures that he will be back for that as Julie walks Jeremy out of the house. Thomas then comes downstairs. Chad says he heard Thomas wasn’t feeling well. Thomas responds that he’s thirsty and needs water. Chad questions Thomas not giving him a hug. Thomas says not right now, so Chad asks him what’s going on.

Stephanie apologizes to Alex for never telling him about Jeremy. Alex understands it’s hard for her to talk about. Stephanie says it’s partly because she was ashamed that she ended up in that situation and even more that she stayed with him. Alex encourages that she has nothing to be ashamed of, but Jeremy does, and it wasn’t her fault so he asks her to understand that. Stephanie knows you’re not supposed to blame the victim and she would say the same thing if it happened to a friend. Alex questions why she can’t believe that about herself then. Stephanie responds that she sort of does on a rational level, but deep down she doesn’t know. Stephanie states that she’s the daughter of a detective and somehow missed every single red flag. Alex states that Jeremy’s actions are his actions only. Stephanie agrees that it wasn’t her fault and thanks Alex for reminding her as they hug. Stephanie adds that she doesn’t think about Jeremy that often and he left town years ago, promising to get his life together. Stephanie mentions hearing that Jeremy cleaned up his act and was doing well, but when Julie told her that he was coming back to Salem, she thought of seeing him again. Alex hopes Jeremy knows to steer clear of her and says he doesn’t know what he would do if he saw the son of a bitch that hurt her like that. Stephanie says she doesn’t want Alex to beat him up or anything but Alex says he can’t make any promises. Stephanie says that was in the past and promises she’s okay now. Alex kisses her and then says he told the family he would meet with them about the meeting with Tony since he gave them 24 hours. Alex offers to stay with Stephanie but she assures that she’s okay and tells him to go. Alex tells her that he loves her so much and to call him if she needs anything which she agrees to do. Stephanie thanks Alex for listening. Alex thanks her for telling him as they kiss and then he exits the apartment. Stephanie holds back tears and tells herself that it’s all in the past.

Paulina tells EJ that they better wait for a full report from the power company before pointing any fingers, but warns this is not over and her people will call his people. EJ stops her to ask how Chanel and Johnny are. Paulina asks why the hell she would tell him, saying he lost the right to ask about their children when he deep faked the video of Chanel in court. EJ denies that but Paulina insists knowing he was behind it. Paulina asks if EJ will ever learn since he pulled a stunt like that right when Johnny was convinced to give him a second chance. Paulina hopes he’s done with him for good this time as she exits the mansion.

Cat and Gwen walk through the town square, agreeing that lunch was fun and they should do it again some time. Gwen tells Cat to take care as she walks away. Cat then pulls out her phone to text Chad, asking how it went with his family.

Chad asks Thomas what’s going on and if he’s sick. Thomas says it’s his heart because Chad told him that Cat was just his friend, but Rachel said she’s his girlfriend. Thomas guesses that’s why Chad was at Cat’s house last night and calls him a liar.

Jeremy Horton shows up at Stephanie’s door with a bouquet of flowers.

Brady questions Tate and Tesoro not being a DNA match. Kayla says she’s sorry as she knows that’s not the outcome he was hoping for. Brady asks if there could’ve been a mistake but Kayla assures that she followed the progress all the way through. Brady says he was so sure that it was Tate’s child but guesses it’s back to square one.

Tate pleads with Holly not to give up on them now after they’ve been through so much together. Holly argues that he had sex with Sophia and nothing can ever change that. Tate says they got past that, so she has to be committed to moving forward. Holly remarks that she’s not the one who can’t stay away from Sophia. Holly knows it’s been hard to not know about his kid but it’s been hard for her too. Tate acknowledges that he’s been selfish and lost sight of what means the most to him which is her. Tate tells Holly that he loves her so much. Holly responds that he has a funny way of showing it.

Johnny swears to Chanel that Holly is a student to him and that is all. Chanel shouts that they just lost their baby. Johnny doesn’t know what’s going on but says it’s a lie and someone is setting him up. Johnny tells her that she has to believe him. Chanel declares that Johnny just crushed her dream and ruined everything. Chanel asks why the hell Holly sent him those pictures if she’s just a student to him. Johnny shouts that it makes no sense. Chanel argues that Holly is infatuated with him again and asks if she got flirty and he just couldn’t resist. Johnny responds that he has done nothing to lead her on and she only talked about an assignment she deleted. Chanel questions why she sent him those pictures then. Johnny wishes he knew.

Sophia checks Holly’s phone and sees she sent the pictures to Johnny’s phone at 9:02 AM and flashes back to Arianna telling her that Holly’s in the hospital after the fire and that it all happened around 9 AM. Sophia decides she can’t give Holly’s phone back now. Sophia then turns off location services on Holly’s phone and erases all content on it.

Kayla tells Brady that maybe Sophia’s story is true and the baby really was adopted by a family in Chicago. Brady hopes that’s true but questions why Sophia was acting squirrely and claimed to know nothing about the parents. Kayla suggests Sophia might not remember because it’s the only way she can move on with her life. Brady argues that Tate deserves to know what happened to his child. Kayla feels for Tate but says that Sophia is the one who carried the baby for 9 months with the emotional toll of that. Brady doesn’t want to cause Sophia more pain but says they just want to know that the baby is safe and loved. Brady keeps thinking about John and how he didn’t know his real family until later in life. Brady states that he doesn’t want that for his grandkid.

Arianna returns to Sophia and tells her that the fire department gave the all clear to go back to her dorm room but the smoke damage is so bad that they’ll pretty much have to move to another room now.

Brady tells Kayla that he’s just really missing his dad as he would know how to handle this and he has so many questions. Kayla offers to help any way she can. Brady knows she can’t break confidentiality, but says he has strong reason to believe that Sophia was carrying a boy even though she’s telling everyone it was a girl. Brady says if she dropped the baby off at the firehouse, it would make sense to throw everyone off and questions why she would otherwise lie about the baby’s sex. Kayla responds that they may never know what Sophia was thinking. Maggie rushes up to ask how Holly is. Kayla informs her that she is okay and that Brady rescued her. Brady says he was just lucky to be at the dorms at the time the fire broke out. Maggie says she’s grateful but ask why Holly couldn’t leave on her own and if she was trapped. Brady explains that Holly was passed out drunk. Maggie complains that they had so many talks about this. Kayla calls an unfortunate common college practice. Maggie worries that it could’ve cost Holly her life.

Tate tells Holly that he’s so sorry that he hurt her again as what he did was stupid and beyond dumb, but he was desperate because Sophia had been stonewalling him about the baby, so he stupidly thought he could get her to tell him the truth. Holly hopes it was worth it. Tate says it wasn’t at all and calls himself an idiot. Holly tells him that he blew up what was left of their relationship. Holly cries that she tried to be patient and stand by him, but she can’t do it anymore and can’t be apart of this love triangle. Tate knows she is angry and has every right to be, but points out that she’s in the hospital and he’s still trying to shake the image of Brady carrying her out. Tate doesn’t know what he would do if he lost her. Holly asks Tate to just go. Maggie then arrives and embraces Holly as she cries.

Chanel asks Johnny how to explain the letter but he doesn’t know. Chanel argues that the birth mother obviously has an issue with them. Johnny wishes he had an explanation. Johnny tells her that it kills him to know he could be the reason they can’t adopt, especially after everything that happened last time. Johnny promises to do everything he can to fix this but Chanel says it’s too late. Chanel cries that their chance to adopt Tesoro is gone and when the social worker turns in her report, their chance to adopt any other baby will be gone too.

Tate says goodbye to Holly and Maggie as he then exits the room. Maggie tells Holly that she’s so glad she’s alright and asks what happened since she wants to hear it from her. Holly admits she really messed up, drank too much, and knocked a candle over that caused a fire as she completely fell apart between the blackout and losing her paper. Maggie asks what else happened. Holly tells her that Tate cheated on her.

Brady tells Kayla that he hopes Maggie can get through to Holly as she has to him on the subject of drinking. Kayla thinks Holly learned a very important lesson. Brady thanks Kayla for supervising the DNA tests. Kayla encourages Brady not to give up. Brady assures that he doesn’t intend to, but says he will spend more time focusing on Rachel and Tate. Kayla knows he’s dealing with a lot and hopes Steve can take some of the burden away from him. Brady responds that Steve has been a great help, just like he was to John. Kayla says they hope that he finds what he’s looking for and that he and Tate can find some peace. Kayla walks away as Tate returns and asks Brady what that was about. Brady claims Kayla was just upset that Tate and Holly are having problems. Tate calls that an understatement. Brady offers to get Tate back to the dorms but Tate says he has to work today, with Sophia, as they exit the hospital.

Johnny argues that the social worker is just a cog in the machine and doesn’t make any final decisions while Chanel worries that her report will carry a lot of weight with child services. Johnny says that’s why she needs to know that everything she thinks happened between he and Holly is a lie. Johnny calls it their dream to have a family and declares he will not let anyone get in the way of that. Johnny urges her not to lose faith in him, pointing out that she believed in him during his trial can now as well. Chanel cries that she wants to and sees how upset he got, so she knows he’s telling the truth and she does believe him. Johnny says he loves her as they hug.

Arianna tells Sophia that most of the stuff in her room was destroyed but luckily most of it came from Gabi Chic. Holly’s phone vibrates in Sophia’s pocket as Johnny tries to call. Arianna asks if she’s going to answer that.

Johnny calls Holly and leaves a voicemail that he needs to speak to her right away.

Arianna asks Sophia if she’s going to see who left her a message. Sophia blows it off as probably being her mom checking on her. Arianna guesses she’s worried about her. Arianna then asks Sophia to help her pack up her room but Sophia says she has to get to work and rushes off. Arianna thanks her for nothing.

Johnny sends a text to Holly’s phone that he left her a voicemail and tells Chanel that college kids are always on their phones, so he’s sure that she’ll get right back to him. Chanel remarks that’s unless she’s ghosting him. Johnny declares that he’s not waiting around and is going to find her at the school right now, so he exits.

Brady and Tate walk through the town square. Brady notes that Tate hasn’t said a word since they left the hospital and guesses he’s thinking about Holly. Tate states that they had broken up before, but this time feels like it’s final and like Holly is putting a wall up. Tate questions what he was thinking by inviting Sophia back to his room. Brady understands that he took a risk and it backfired. Tate says he just feels sick about the whole situation and he doesn’t understand how Holly found out that he kissed Sophia.

Holly explains to Maggie that Arianna told her that she saw Sophia leaving Tate’s room and that it was obvious they hooked up. Maggie says if that’s true, she’d be disappointed in Tate after what happened last time. Holly knows she’s disappointed in her too. Maggie tells her that alcohol and drugs are never the answer. Holly figured a few drinks were no big deal and doesn’t even know how she ended up passed out. Maggie understands she was trying to get through her pain but reminds her that the consequences don’t just affect her but everyone in her dorm. Holly brings up how her father died. Maggie says at Daniel’s memorial, she said she felt cheated because her time with him was tragically cut short. Maggie asks if alcohol is going to cut short Holly’s time with her like the pills almost did. Holly swears it won’t. Maggie says they don’t want any more phone calls like that. Holly cries that she’s sorry and feels she screwed up her start at college, but promises to do better. Maggie assures that she forgives and loves her. Maggie tells Holly to reach out to her when she’s hurting instead of trying to escape the pain. Holly cries that she loves her as they hug.

Johnny finds Brady and Tate in the town square, asking where he can find Holly as he needs to speak to her right away. Brady then informs him that Holly is in the hospital.

Paulina goes to see Chanel with a bag full of things to decorate the nursery. Paulina says she can’t wait to hear how she and Johnny knocked it out of the park, but Chanel breaks down crying as Paulina hugs her and asks what’s wrong. Chanel then explains that the birth mother of the child wrote a letter to social services. Chanel talks about the humiliation and shock of the worker reading those words out loud. Chanel adds that they claimed Johnny was having an inappropriate relationship with a student and a picture of Holly popped up on his phone. Chanel guesses Holly’s old crush on Johnny came back and whoever wrote the letter claim they saw Holly sexting Johnny. Paulina says at least it’s one sided and that Johnny hasn’t initiated contact. Chanel then informs her that Johnny called Holly last night and claimed it was just about an assignment. Chanel calls it such a disaster and worries about what the social worker will put in the report. Paulina asks where Johnny is. Chanel tells her that he went to find Holly.

Johnny is shocked to hear about the fire in the dorms as Brady explains a candle was knocked in to the trash can, but nobody was seriously hurt and Holly will be okay. Tate asks what Johnny needs to talk to her about. Johnny says she had a question about their class. Brady says he’s sure that can wait. Tate then heads of to get to work. Johnny asks if Tate is alright. Brady explains that Holly broke up with him and he’s taking it pretty hard. Johnny asks when he can see Holly. Brady says she should be discharged pretty soon but he’s getting the feeling it’s about more than a class assignment. Brady asks Johnny what’s really going on.

Kayla joins Maggie in Holly’s hospital room to check on her. Holly says she’s a lot better so Kayla brings her discharge papers and scrubs to change in to. Kayla adds that she would like to go over something else. Kayla is sure they discussed Holly’s drinking last night and her levels were very high which is consistent with drinking a whole lot. Holly responds that she only had two roman diets. Kayla asks if she saw the drinks poured. Holly admits she didn’t and that she didn’t eat dinner. Kayla advises her to be very careful which she promises to do. Kayla adds that Holly did inhale a lot of smoke so she might be weak but her energy should come back in a few days. Kayla reminds Holly to get a lot of rest. Holly says she has to get back to school. Maggie wants her to come home for a few days but Holly feels she has to get back to the dorms to apologize to everyone, especially Arianna, and to find her phone.

Sophia goes to the Brady Pub and disposes of Holly’s phone in the trash can outside as Tate walks up and questions what she’s doing.

Maggie brings Holly to the dorms where Arianna rushes up to hug her, saying she’s glad she’s alright while Holly apologizes for what happened. Arianna then informs Holly that they are getting evicted, which Holly says is all her fault.

Johnny tells Brady about Holly sexting him and the social worker seeing the photos which came from Holly’s phone. Brady assures him that Holly was hammered and did get in a fight with Tate, but he doesn’t see her doing something this reckless. Johnny tells Brady about the letter from someone claiming to be Tesoro’s birth mother. Johnny adds that hardly anyone knew they were planning to adopt him, so he question how they would even catch wind of it. Brady asks if Holly knew which Johnny confirms that she did. Brady suggests maybe someone close to Holly heard her talking about it. Johnny says that could be but calls it a huge mess. Brady encourages him to hang in there and to let him know if he needs help figuring things out. Johnny says he might take him up on that.

Arianna tells Holly that it was an accident but Holly says it was her stupid choice to drink. Arianna insists it could’ve been a lot worse and they are just moving to another room because of the smoke damage. Holly argues that she will pay for it but Maggie says not to worry about it. Arianna says she threw out what was damaged and packed up most of their stuff. Maggie says she will coordinate with Gabi. Holly thanks Arianna for doing all of this. Arianna says that was the easy part, but they both have to face the disciplinary committee. Arianna questions Holly not seeing the e-mail. Holly says she left her phone in the room but Arianna assures that she didn’t see it while packing up.

Sophia claims she thought she dropped her phone in the trash, but finds it in her pocket so she and Tate head in to the Brady Pub for work.

Paulina questions Johnny going out to find Holly. Chanel explains that he went to find answers and swears he didn’t do anything to encourage her. Paulina feels something strange is going on here. Chanel agrees that the timing is awful. Paulina asks if any part of Chanel thinks this thing with Holly might be real. Chanel assures that she doesn’t. Paulina wonders if the birth mother is a student that knows Holly. Chanel declares that Johnny said nothing is going on, so she believes him. Chanel adds that it doesn’t even matter because the damage is already done and she’s never going to be a mother.

Kayla finds Brady in the town square. Brady asks how Holly is doing. Kayla responds that Maggie took her back to school. Brady says that’s great news but unfortunately not for Johnny and Chanel. Kayla asks what he means. Brady explains that they had their home meeting with social services today and got a letter claiming to be from Tesoro’s birth mother, objecting to the adoption. Kayla can’t believe Johnny and Chanel were blindsided like that. Brady says whoever wrote this letter has it in for Johnny and Chanel and Holly which Kayla questions. Brady calls it kind of complicated but states that everything points to Sophia, except for the DNA test. Brady asks Kayla one more time if there’s any way the DNA test results could be wrong. Kayla doesn’t think so but agrees to check with the lab.

Tate and Sophia go to work at the Brady Pub. Sophia says she heard about the fire at the dorm and asks if Holly is okay. Tate responds that it was really scary but she will be. Sophia says she’s glad to hear that and hopes they will be okay too. Sophia asks if he wants to talk about it but Tate says he doesn’t and walks away as Sophia smiles.

Holly, Arianna, and Maggie finish searching for Holly’s phone and concludes it’s definitely not in her room or any of the boxes. Maggie reminds Holly that she’s on her plan so she gives her phone to her to use the find my phone feature. Holly checks it and finds out that it says her phone’s last location was right there this morning, so she wonders where it is now.

Paulina encourages Chanel that being a mother is definitely in her future. Chanel questions how she knows. Paulina responds that she feels it in her bones and that nobody deserves it more than her. Chanel doesn’t know if the social worker would agree. Paulina declares that there has to be an explanation for what happened today and then the social worker will be bending over to get them a baby. Paulina states that the baby would have two wonderful, loving, and caring parents along with a grandmother who will spoil them. Chanel thanks her for making her feel better. Johnny returns home and reveals to Paulina and Chanel that Holly is in the hospital after a fire in the dorm room so he couldn’t talk to her yet. Chanel remarks that she’s glad she’s alright. Johnny says the minute she’s up for it, he’s going to ask her to explain the photos. Chanel asks if he really thinks he will get answers. Johnny declares that he knows he will because he will not stop until he finds out who did this to them and why.

Stephanie joins Kayla in her office at the hospital. Kayla asks if Stephanie got the e-mail from operations. Stephanie confirms she did that the blackout originated in the new wing of the hospital. Kayla asks what to do if the hospital was the cause of the blackout and if it could delay the free clinic. Stephanie agrees that it would be a PR nightmare, adding that the longer they wait the worse it looks but her hands are tied until she can put out an official response, signed off on by EJ. EJ then walks in and asks if he heard his name which Kayla calls perfect timing.

Johnny and Chanel wait at home for the social worker to arrive. Chanel worries about still getting their place together. Johnny talks about putting the crib together in the dark during the blackout. They talk about getting things looking perfect and how they had no idea the process would be so crazy. Chanel declares that it will all be worth it when they have Tesoro in their arms as they hug.

Sophia thanks Arianna for letting her sleep on the floor in her dorm room last night. Arianna says she wasn’t going to let her find her way home in the blackout. Sophia wonders if Holly will even remember what happened before she got drunk. Sophia guesses she was so freaked out about what happened with Tate that she needed to unload.

Holly remains passed out in her bed in the dorm room. She rolls over in her sleep, accidentally knocking a nearby candle into the trash can, starting a fire.

Brady goes to the dorms to find Tate and says he’s been calling him as he needed to make sure he was okay after the city wide black out. Tate tells him to chill and not talk so loud. Tate insists he’s fine and asks why he wouldn’t be. They then hear the fire alarm go off.

Chanel checks with Johnny to make sure they finished filling out the adoption forms. Johnny worries about the social worker knowing how close he was to being sent to prison. Chanel assures that everyone knows he’s innocent and encourages him not to worry. They figure they have about 45 minutes left but then the social worker arrives at their door early.

EJ asks why his timing is perfect. Kayla tells him that she and Stephanie were just talking about what the response should be from the hospital since they now know the construction was the cause of the blackout. EJ calls it an unfortunate accident. Stephanie says it’s one they need to get on top of. EJ says that he’s already on top of it, talked to the construction company, and has sent his approval for her to put out a press release. Stephanie calls that a start and says she will send it out after correcting any typos. Stephanie then exits the office. Kayla brings up the blackout but EJ says God only knows what caused it and he’s having to put out multiple fires at once including the hospital’s IP traffic. EJ informs Kayla that some unusual traffic was noticed and it was identified as Kayla’s. EJ explains that he assumed she would be hard at work while he was trapped in the elevator, but he found out that her IP was used to host an online Q&A with the virtuosa of erotica, Anastasia Sands.

Tate tells Brady that people pull the fire alarm all the time but Brady smells smoke and says they need to get everyone the hell out of there.

Holly begins coughing in her sleep as smoke from the fire engulfs her room.

Arianna complains about people pulling the fire alarm until Tate rushes up and says it’s not a joke, there is smoke, and they have to leave. Tate then asks her where Holly is as Brady follows the trail of the smoke.

EJ accuses Kayla of being Anastasia Sands and asks where she got the inspiration for One Stormy Night. Kayla says she has no idea what he’s talking about and questions him thinking she is Anastasia Sands. EJ tells her that her cover has been blown. Kayla calls it ridiculous but questions why he’s monitoring her computer usage. EJ tells her not to throw it back on him when she was doing something highly inappropriate on hospital grounds. EJ calls the book obscene. Kayla questions how he knows. EJ says he’s seen a few copies around and was curious. EJ argues that if the public found out the chief of staff was writing racy romance novels, it would be very disturbing and he’d have no choice but to fire her. Kayla calls it a giant misunderstanding and says she wasn’t even in her office last night. Stephanie returns and declares that she was. Stephanie says she could hear them arguing down the hall and she can’t let Kayla take the heat for this. Stephanie then announces that she is Anastasia Sands, shocking EJ.

Chanel and Johnny tell the social worker that they weren’t expecting her just yet. She explains that they tend to show a bit early. Johnny says things are a bit more chaotic than usual after the blackout so they weren’t quite ready. She tells them to do whatever they have to do and she’ll just poke around but Chanel says that won’t be necessary. They sit together and Chanel has her try a cream puff from her Bakery. She says she just has a few questions with them and starts by revealing that a letter was dropped at her office last night from the mother of the baby that was left at the firehouse.

Arianna tells Tate that Holly passed out from drinking last night and might still be in their room.

Brady enters Holly’s dorm room with a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.

EJ questions Stephanie being Anastasia Sands and Kayla allowing her to promote her novel on hospital time. Stephanie explains that Kayla had no idea. Kayla gets paged to a patient and says she’ll pick this up later as she exits the office. EJ then asks Stephanie if he’ll get an autographed copy of her book. Stephanie responds that he can have several as they make great gifts. EJ says many of his friends have already read it as it’s quite the rage and none of them would’ve guessed that Stephanie was capable of writing such provocative scenes with erotic imagery. Stephanie senses that EJ has read the book and might have gotten a little hot and bothered by that erotic imagery.

Chanel questions the letter from the biological mother of the baby and asks who she is. The social worker says the mother prefers to remain anonymous. Johnny asks what she said. She then reads the letter that Sophia wrote, registering her objection to Johnny and Chanel, calling them unfit and undeserving.

Sophia sits in the park, listening to what she recorded for her letter to the social worker. Sophia thinks back to overhearing Johnny and Chanel talking about adopting Tesoro. Sophia then texts a photo she took of Holly in bed to Johnny’s phone.

The social worker continues reading the letter, alleging that Johnny is involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student in his film class at Salem University which Johnny denies and says there’s no way while his phone goes off nearby.

Brady picks Holly up from her bed and carries her out of the room as Tate and Arianna follow them out and they bring Holly to the hospital. Brady informs Tate that Maggie is on her way and he spoke to Nicole about what happened. Brady asks how Tate is doing. Tate mentions a headache and needing caffeine. Brady guesses he has a hangover and questions what he is doing. Tate asks him not to do this now and says he was just letting off steam along with everyone else in his dorm. Brady argues that everyone else isn’t the child of two addicts and points out that Holly almost died, bringing up how she overdosed on New Year’s Eve. Tate informs Brady that he has no idea what Holly was doing last night as whatever it was not with him because she’s not his girlfriend anymore, revealing that they broke up.

Stephanie talks about embarrassing EJ while EJ says she’s the one who is ashamed since she had to hide behind a pseudonym, not wanting anyone to know she’s capable of writing that erotic imagery. Stephanie tells EJ that it was for professional reasons as she wanted to keep her novel from interfering with her PR career. EJ says he understands so Stephanie asks if she can count on him to be discreet or if he plans to out her.

Tate admits to Brady that he screwed up royally and he was an idiot for thinking he could get the truth out of Sophia by pretending he was in to her. Tate says it was shady and then Holly found out, was beyond pissed off at him and that’s why they broke up, adding that he doesn’t blame her.

Chanel asks Johnny about his phone but Johnny claims it was just some scammer virus and he took care of it. Johnny assures Ms. Morgan that everything in the letter is not true. Chanel questions how the biological mother would even know them. She continues reading the letter which alleges that she saw the student sexting Johnny. Johnny insists none of that is true. The social worker asks for a quick check of his cell phone then. Johnny hands it over to her, right when he receives a new message which is the photo of Holly’s body that Sophia sent.

Tate tells Brady that Holly was upset because of him so even though they weren’t together, he’s the reason she got so drunk and passed out. Tate praises Brady for saving Holly’s life and says he doesn’t know what he would’ve done if something happened to her. Kayla then comes over and tells them that Holly is okay and should make a full recovery, calling her a very lucky lady. Tate is relieved and asks if he can go see her. Kayla thinks that’s up to Holly.

Chanel takes Johnny’s phone and asks what this is. Johnny swears he doesn’t know. Chanel looks closer and asks if it’s Holly. Johnny says he doesn’t know as Chanel sees that Johnny called Holly last night. Johnny explains that she had a question about her film assignment and says she can go through his texts to see that’s all it was. The social worker decides she will leave them to sort this out. Chanel pleads with her not to go. She declares that she’s sorry but the home visit is officially over. Chanel confronts Johnny, questioning how he could do this to her as she starts to cry.

EJ tells Stephanie that he’s not happy about her moonlighting, but ahead of their gala, the last thing the hospital needs is to be overshadowed by it’s publicist’s deception. Stephanie feels that’s a dramatic way of putting it. EJ asks if she’d prefer calling it a double life. Stephanie says she’d prefer focusing on all the good work she has been doing for him. EJ admits that’s another reason he’ll keep her secret on the down low since she is an asset and a stellar employee. EJ warns her to do everything in her power to stay on his good side while Stephanie warns him against threatening her because it’s clear that he needs her. EJ calls that interesting and somewhat skewed. EJ feels what they have is more of a mutual dependency where they need each other.

Sophia finds Arianna and asks why there are fire trucks outside. Arianna explains that a candle got knocked over in their room and fell in the trash. She adds that Tate’s dad got Holly out, but she was unconscious and is now in the hospital.

Brady wishes he could tell John about all of this since he would know what to do and say. Kayla encourages that Brady does pretty well and probably saved Holly’s life today. Brady informs Kayla that he hasn’t told Tate that Rafe’s foster son might be his and now he’s thinking he should have as it might have saved Holly and Tate some heartache. Kayla feels he did what he thought was right and that’s all anyone can do. Brady agrees and says once they get Tesoro’s DNA test back, he’s sure that will clear the air with Holly and Tate. Kayla goes to check the lab to see if the results are back yet. Brady thanks her and says it will be a relief to finally know the truth.

Kayla goes back to her office but stops at the door and walks in, questioning Stephanie saying that she and EJ are in a co-dependent relationship. Kayla asks if they hashed things out or if it’s a temporary truce. Stephanie informs her that EJ has agreed to keep her secret under wraps while EJ says Stephanie has agreed to remain a stellar employee to the hospital and a steadfast ally to him.

Tate visits Holly in her hospital room and thanks God that she’s okay. Tate talks about being beyond worried when he saw Brady carrying her out of her room. Tate says he was so dumb and he’s so sorry about everything. Holly says she shouldn’t have gotten drunk and she shouldn’t have trusted him. Tate tells her not to say that. Tate repeats that he’s so sorry and he screwed up majorly. Tate tells Holly that he loves her so much and he knows they can work this out. Holly cries that they can’t and it’s over.

Sophia asks Arianna why Holly is in the hospital. Arianna informs her that Holly was passed out in the room when the fire started but Tate said she will be okay. Sophia calls that a relief and asks what time all of this happened. Arianna guesses it was around 9 AM. Arianna decides she’s going to see if she can be let back in her room and walks away. Sophia then pulls out Holly’s phone and looks at the photo of Holly that she sent to Johnny, which was sent at 9:02, causing Sophia to worry.

Johnny swears to Chanel that Holly is a student to him and that is all. Chanel shouts that they just lost their baby. Johnny doesn’t know what’s going on but says it’s a lie and someone is setting him up. Johnny tells her that she has to believe him. Chanel declares that Johnny just crushed her dream and ruined everything.

Kayla returns to Brady with the DNA test results. Kayla informs him that Tesoro is not a DNA match, so Tate is not his father, leaving Brady shocked and confused.
