Jack: There. You know, I’m thinking we should–I’m gonna get you to the er. You were in that freezer for a good half hour, and you’re still shivering.

Julie: I’m not going anywhere until we find doug.

Jack: We will find him. I promise you.

Julie: Well, how? How? He’s not answering my voicemails. He’s not answering my texts. Oh, my god. I think I know what’s happened!

Kayla: I don’t understand why bonnie is there with calista getting ready. She was supposed to be here.

Steve: Well, she said something about getting hung up at the manicurist, and it would be faster for her to get ready here. That’s why I’m calling. Bonnie needs her makeup bag.

Kayla: I guess we’re on our way then.

[Cell phone beeps]

Justin: What was that about? What’s going on with bonnie?

Kayla: I have no idea.

Gwen: Bonnie lockhart? What was she doing here?

Xander: She and justin are getting married today. She invited me to the wedding.

Gwen: Why?

Xander: Well, she said she wanted me to represent the kiriakis family, because victor and all the others refused to attend.

Gwen: It’s a bit odd, don’t you think?

Xander: Yeah, I thought so too. It actually reminded me that she did volunteer at the last second to be sarah’s maid of honor.

Gwen: But still, do you think that that was all just a pretense so she could just come in here and steal the $1 million from your briefcase?

Xander: Well, yeah, I would, except for the fact that I saw her leave without it.

Bonnie: Give me the gun, girl.

Calista: Fine.

[Sighs]

Bonnie: All right. You did the first part. Now hand it over.

Calista: I’m sorry, bonnie, but you’re not getting the gun. You are getting the bullet.

Bonnie: Hold on. What are you talking about? I gave you the $1 million you think I stole from your husband.

Calista: Oh, you did steal from harrison. You stole his buddy bucks, and then you stole his life. And now you’re gonna pay with yours!

Bonnie: No. You can’t do this. I’m marrying the man of my dreams. No. It’s my wedding day.

Calista: Well, then I got your “something new” right here. A bullet through the heart.

Bonnie: No. Please. Please, calista!

Calista: Forget about becoming bonnie kiriakis. Today, you die.

Gwen: Right, so you’re saying that bonnie didn’t take the money.

Xander: But she must’ve. She was the only person that was here before ej showed up.

Gwen: Maybe the cash has been gone longer than you think.

Xander: That’s impossible. I’ve looked inside that briefcase at least once an hour since I got it back from the cops.

Gwen: Once an hour?

Xander: $1 million is a very lovely thing to look at, especially when you’re about to part ways with it.

Gwen: Right, so the money was here before bonnie came, but she didn’t leave with the money, so what happened, xander?

Bonnie: Hi. Morning, sunshine.

Xander: What are you doing here?

Bonnie: Oh, I came to invite you to our wedding.

Xander: What?

Bonnie: Just on my way over to kayla’s and thought I’d pop by here first.

Xander: Did you run this by justin?

Bonnie: Oh, I know he’d want you to be there. You’re his cousin. So why don’t you just hop in the shower, put on your monkey suit, and be at the house at 2:00 P.M.?

Xander: Bonnie–

Bonnie: Nope. I’m not taking “no” for an answer.

Xander: Honestly, I feel kind of awkward.

Bonnie: Oh, honey, you? You’ll be the life of the party, and I always say, the more the merrier, right?

Xander: Fine. I’ll be there.

Bonnie: Yay! Yippee! Okay, I’ll see you–oh, I’ll see you soon.

Xander: She was trying to get rid of me.

Gwen: Well, did you hop in the shower or anything when she was here?

Xander: No, but that isn’t where I left it.

Gwen: What? Are you sure?

Xander: Bonnie must have swiped it on her way out of the room, and then when I went into the bathroom, she let herself back in, opened the briefcase, and ran off with my money.

Gwen: Oh, my god. That cheeky bitch.

Xander: Well, she’s not gonna get away with it. Bonnie lockhart will rue the day she crossed me.

Bonnie: No. No. You can’T. You can’t shoot me! You don’t know the whole story.

Calista: Hey, it was your finger on the trigger that killed my husband. That’s all I need to know.

Bonnie: But I’m not a cold-blooded killer, and your husband wasn’t the–

Calista: Hey! Nothing more about harrison.

Bonnie: But he tried–

Calista: Every syllable out of your little mouth makes my finger twitch, so if I were you, I would shut it.

Bonnie: No! I did everything. I did everything you asked. You wanted $1 million. I got you $1 million right there, and on my wedding day. I stole a million clams from a guy who’s practically family when I should have been sipping mimosas and getting ready for my groom. Please, please, please, calista. I gave you your money. You got your money. What more do you want?

Calista: A little thing called “an eye for an eye.” Now, can we get this little show started?

Bonnie: No, no, no, no. What about turning the other cheek?

Calista: Well, I’m more of an old testament kind of girl. Let’s go.

Bonnie: No, wait! Seriously, wait. Wait, wait, wait. You haven’t thought this through.

Calista: Oh, honey, I’m already sipping an umbrella drink on my private island.

Bonnie: No, no. What about when xander comes after you, huh? He’s not just a pretty face, you know; he’ll figure it out.

Calista: No, he won’T. He’s gonna pin you for stealing the money.

Bonnie: And I’ll tell him the truth.

Calista: Well, yeah, I guess you could, except for the “you’ll be dead” part.

Bonnie: Okay, okay. What about ej dimera? Do you know about the dimeras? Honey, they’re mob, so if I were you, I’d just take my money and run. Time’s a-wasting.

Calista: Oh, don’t worry, honey, I’m halfway out the door. This won’t take but a minute.

Julie: And that would explain everything.

Jack: What, exactly?

Julie: Julie’s place is always closed between lunch, dinner. Doug and I are here alone, so obviously, he locked me in the freezer to protect me.

Jack: Come again?

Julie: Morgan’s on the waterfront. It was robbed last week. Robbed in broad daylight.

Jack: Yes, yes, but–

Julie: So what if those same guys struck again? And what if they came in here, doug saw them, went to the back, and locked me in to protect me, to hide me, so they couldn’t get at me? And then they kidnapped him.

Jack: Well, why would anyone kidnap doug?

Julie: Oh, for god’s sakes, jack. He’s one of the most prominent men in salem. He’s the ex-mayor. He’s a man of means. For ransom. God, he could be bound and gagged in the trunk of a car somewhere. Oh, god. My poor doug.

Roman: All right. There you go. Double burger with swiss. Extra rare. Side of fries. Just the way you like.

Doug: Thank you, good sir. And it smells delicious. Mmm. Your mission:

Xander: Bonnie wants me at her wedding, I’ll wring the bride’s neck.

Gwen: Okay, xander. Will you just slow down? Slow down, right, and think this through. Why would bonnie want to steal $1 million when she’s just about to marry a multimillionaire?

Xander: Well, you know what they say. You can never be too rich.

Gwen: Right, but how did she even know you had all that cash in that briefcase?

Xander: I don’t know. I’m gonna show up at her wedding and find out.

Gwen: Xander, wait.

Xander: What?

Gwen: This is my fault.

Xander: This is not the time to make it all about you, gwen.

Gwen: I know, but it is though. You confessed to a crime that I committed, and now you’re all tangled up with this bloody ej person. You owe him $1 million, which is now gone, along with the promise of a job. You did all this because you were trying to protect me.

Xander: It was my choice, gwen, remember. But there is one thing you can do for me in return.

Gwen: Yes, of course. What?

Xander: Don’t tell your father that you had your miscarriage before abigail pushed you down those stairs. If you do that, everything I’ve done will be for naught.

Steve: Right this way, mr. Riggins.

Riggins: Am I in the right place?

Steve: Yeah. Bride’s upstairs, the groom is out, and there’s a guest list of one outside the bridal party.

Riggins: Remarriages tend to be quieter affairs.

Steve: This is no remarriage. This is justin and bonnie’s first trip to the altar.

Riggins: Then what’s that, halloween?

Steve: That’s not bonnie. That’s my late sister adrienne. She and justin raised four sons together. After she passed–

Riggins: Mr. Kiriakis fell in love with her twin?

Steve: In a manner of speaking.

Riggins: And you’re the one person who made the guest list.

Steve: No. I’m the best man. Guess you’re wondering what you got yourself into, huh?

Riggins: Life can be complicated.

Steve: It sure can. So here’s hoping that all the drama is behind us now that their wedding day is finally here.

Bonnie: Wait.

Calista: Now what?

Bonnie: You can’t kill me.

Calista: You already said that.

Bonnie: No, no, no. Do you know who justin’s uncle really is? He is like the greek version of michael corleone, except he’s even nastier, meaner, scarier, more ruthless than ej dimera. You lay one hand on me, and he will–

Calista: Thank me? Come on, the old goat won’t even come to your wedding. I’m gonna bet that guy do not care a rat’s behind about you.

Bonnie: No, wait. Wait. Okay. Forget about the mob. What about the law? Steve is right downstairs, and honey, he hears that gunshot and he comes running up those stairs, and he catches you red-handed. You lose the money, you go to statesville, and you don’t even have me around to give you tips on how to get ciggies from the guards in cell block H.

Calista: Oh, I’m not going to statesville.

Bonnie: Okay.

Calista: I know how to get away with murder. I watched you, didn’t I? So I’m gonna use this little old-fashioned silencer. Easy-peasy. Now no one will know what happened, and no one will care.

Julie: Jack, we gotta call the police.

Jack: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a minute. Julie, as concerned as I am, I’m thinking maybe you’re getting a little carried away.

Julie: How can you say that when doug could be in danger?

Jack: Well, there could be another explanation.

Julie: Such as what?

Jack: Such as is it possible–possible–that maybe you and doug had a fight?

Julie: Of course not. Although, well, he did get a little miffed when I changed out his espresso for chamomile tea this morning. His digestion’s a little more fragile. All right. All right. We had a small contretemps. Yes, he can show his temper when his blood sugar gets a little low.

Jack: Okay, so maybe he decided that the two of you needed to cool off a bit.

Julie: “Cool off.” Is that your fabled sense of humor rising to the occasion? I am not amused, jack.

Jack: All right, all right, all right. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Just to, you know– my apology on choice of words. Is it possible that maybe doug just needed to take a moment?

Julie: I don’t know. I guess it’s possible. Where would he go? He’s 96 years old. He can’t get very far on foot. Oh, lord, what am I doing standing here babbling? I’m going to go find him!

Roman: So where is your better half?

Doug: Pardon?

Roman: Well, I’ve never seen you or julie in here alone. Either one of you. She busy at the restaurant?

Doug: Actually, julie is busy–very busy– watching my cholesterol. Last night, she even tried to give me some quinoa. I hated it. Ugh. I prefer good, red meat and fries to go with it.

Roman: [Chuckles]

Doug: I’m sure you won’t tell her about this.

Roman: Oh, god, no. I got your back, all right? And I tell you what, I won’t tell her about this either.

Doug: [Laughs] Ooh. Well, that’s awfully nice of you, john. Thanks.

Roman: Yeah, you’re welcome, but name’s roman.

Doug: Of course it is.

Roman: Well, you called me john.

Doug: I did?

Roman: Yeah. You know what? It’s not the first time it happened. I mean, after all, john went by my name for, what, better part of a decade?

Doug: Yeah, those were wild days, weren’t they? When everybody thought you were dead and that john got back together with vivian.

Roman: You mean marlena?

Doug: Who else? What did I say?

Roman: Vivian.

Doug: [Chuckles] How in the world could I ever mix up marlena with vivian?

[Laughs] I must be losing it, john.

Gwen: Look, I already told my father that you were lying to protect me. That I was the one running drugs for snyder. He was blackmailing me. I can’t exactly go back on that, can I? And jack, he’s gonna be looking for answers.

Xander: And you’ll be ready with a lie. You’re a highly-skilled liar, gwen. One of the best, really. What? It’s a compliment!

Gwen: Thanks. Back at you.

Xander: So we’re good? You’ll do it?

Gwen: Lie to my father?

Xander: Think about it, gwen. If you told jack that you falsely blamed his precious abigail for your miscarriage, which caused her to flee town and quite possibly destroyed her marriage, there’s a chance his capacity for forgiveness might wear a tad thin.

Gwen: I’m his daughter too.

Xander: And I’m his best mate. You saw the hatchet job he did on me in the “spectator.”

Gwen: Yeah, that’s because he blames you for hurting me. He’s very protective over his daughters.

Xander: And if he blames you for hurting his other daughter, how do you think that will turn out? You’ve spent your whole life wanting a relationship with your father, and you finally got it. Do you really want to throw all that away for the sake of my reputation, which has always hovered between less-than-stellar and abysmal and will remain there regardless of what you do?

Gwen: You don’t deserve this.

Xander: I’ll be fine. Trust me. What?

Gwen: Nobody’s ever done this for me before. Sacrificed so much.

Xander: What can I say? You’re worth it.

[Cell phone beeps]

Jack: I got nothing. You have any luck?

Julie: I ran into linda, the line cook. She saw doug walking out the front door. She waved. She smiled. He just kept right on walking–

[Cell phone rings] Roman, I can’t talk now. Doug is missing.

Roman: No, he’s not. He’s right here, at the pub.

Julie: He is? Doug is at the brady pub.

Jack: Oh.

[Both laugh]

Julie: Oh, oh. Thank god.

Jack: Yeah.

Julie: Well, tell him I’ve been worried sick, and he is to come back to the restaurant immediately. Roman? Aren’t you gonna tell him that?

Roman: Julie, you know what? I think it would be a better idea if you came here.

Riggins: Calista lockhart and harrison lord? Why do those names sound so familiar?

Steve: It’ll come to you.

Riggins: Well, a wedding at the kiriakis manse. Not to be gauche, but I didn’t eat lunch assuming the kiriakises would be putting on a spread, and this celebration seems a bit…anemic. I’d hate for my stomach to be growling during the ceremony.

Steve: Okay. Kitchen’s that way. The caterer has laid out a real nice brunch. You tell the cook I told him to hook you up.

Riggins: Thank you.

Steve: Okay. Ah, there you are.

Kayla: Hi.

Justin: Thanks for holding down the fort.

Steve: There’s not much to do. I haven’t seen the bride since she hightailed it upstairs with her sister-in-law.

Kayla: Well, I’ll go up and see bonnie and calista. See what’s going on.

Steve: All right.

Calista: You ready to go to hell, bonnie?

Bonnie: Let’s just see who gets there first!

[Both grunting]

[Gunshot]

[Dramatic music]

Roman: [Chuckles]

Julie: Doug.

Doug: Julie. Jack. What are you guys doing here?

Julie: Oh, thank god. Thank god you’re all right. You are all right, aren’t you?

Doug: Of course I am.

Julie: [Sighs]

Doug: Well, you actually caught me in the act.

Julie: A burger? What do you mean?

Doug: I needed something meaty, something I could sink my teeth into.

Julie: Oh, darling. I don’t care about the burger.

Doug: You don’t?

Julie: No.

Doug: Well, terrific. Join me. Brews all around, on me.

Julie: Honey, I didn’t come here to drink, although it might do me some good. My blood is still needing to be thawed out after you locked me in the freezer.

Doug: What are you talking about?

Julie: And then you walked away and left me with my rear end frozen off.

Doug: Well, I would never do that.

Julie: But you did. You walked right up to the window, looked at me, walked away. I had to call poor jack to rescue me.

Doug: Well, I’m glad you’re safe and sound, honey. But darling, I think you have confused me with somebody else. Are you sure you’re okay?

Jack: You know, I think it’s been a really long afternoon, and I think it’d be a great idea if you and I got julie home.

Doug: Well, I haven’t finished my burger, and I had my eye on a piece of that devil’s food cake over there.

Roman: You know what? I’ll wrap all that up. How about that?

Doug: Yeah.

Roman: Okay?

Doug: That’d be splendid. Thank you. And I need one more of these.

Roman: [Chuckles] Okay.

Steve: I can pour you a shot of whiskey for that.

Justin: For what?

Steve: Nerves, although kayla would probably recommend yoga.

Justin: I’m not nervous. I’m worried about bonnie. She has been real jittery ever since calista showed up. I mean, this morning we were planning to have breakfast, and she just took off on some errand without a word to me. And she was supposed to go over to your place, and she was a no-show.

Steve: Yeah, bonnie was definitely jittery when she got here this morning.

Justin: And last night, kayla mentioned that bonnie seemed really upset about calista. Apparently, she didn’t want to talk about it though.

Steve: Kayla told me the same thing. She said bonnie was near tears, but she wouldn’t say why. Whatever it is, I can attest to the fact that calista is quite the character.

Justin: Why do you say that?

Steve: Well, for one thing, she made a pass at me.

Justin: Obviously, she didn’t know you were married.

Steve: Well, when I told her, it didn’t stop her. She jumped me.

Justin: Steve, sorry about that.

Steve: And when I asked her some questions about herself, she was very cagey. Do you know much about her?

Justin: No, no, bonnie never mentioned her before she just showed up out of the blue. And I’m just hoping that she will just disappear to where she came from once this wedding is over.

Bonnie: Oh, my god. She’s dead.

[Knock at door]

Kayla: Bonnie?

Bonnie: This can’t be happening.

[Knock at door]

Kayla: Bonnie, are you in there?

Bonnie: Yeah, but I’m just– I’m not decent.

Kayla: I just wanted to see if you needed some help getting ready.

Bonnie: No, I’m good. I’m good.

Kayla: Well, I don’t think you are quite.

Bonnie: What do you mean?

Kayla: I have your makeup bag here.

Bonnie: You can just leave it there. That’s fine.

Kayla: Oh, come on. I’m the matron of honor. It’s my job to help the bride get ready. I mean, not that you need much. I mean, you’re gonna be a beautiful bride. Did you know faded, dingy, and rough fabrics

Julie: Well, I finally got him settled. You know, he did not sleep a wink last night, really. That’s why he was a little off, and then, of course, the beer and that rich, rich meal, that didn’t help matters very much either, so–

Jack: Julie? When you were getting doug in the car, roman told me that doug called him john.

Julie: Oh, well, who doesn’t? I mean, it’s been confusing for years.

Jack: He also confused marlena with vivian, which you gotta admit, that’s a little harder to explain away. I know. I mean, nobody wants to think about this, but I really think that doug should see a doctor.

Julie: Don’t even say that. He’s just tired. He needs some rest, and when he’s rested, he’s fine. I know it.

Xander: So what are you gonna tell jack?

Gwen: I don’t know.

Xander: Well, that’s the wrong answer.

Gwen: Yeah, well, it’s the best one I’ve got at the moment. One positive from this, though. Jack won’t think you’re a drug runner anymore, so that means that he won’t get in the way of us potentially seeing one another.

Xander: Is that what you want?

Gwen: I don’t know, maybe. But you need to go get that money now, and I need to think about what I’m gonna say to my father.

Xander: Wait.

Gwen: What? Oh.

[Laughs] What was that for?

Xander: Luck.

Justin: A part of me can’t believe I’m actually going through with this. Steve, I know you thought I was crazy. That you thought I was only attracted to bonnie because she reminded me so much of adrienne. And I know, at first, you were right. Although they really couldn’t be any more different from one another.

Steve: Really?

Justin: But right now, I’m not looking for another adrienne. I just want to be able to live and laugh again.

Steve: Of course you do.

Justin: And, I mean, if i wasn’t confident that bonnie had turned her life around, there’s no way I could ever get past what she did with adrienne.

Steve: I know that.

Justin: I mean, I’ve done a lot of things in my life that I’m not proud of.

Steve: Same here, so who am I to judge?

Justin: I just want you to know that I know it took a lot for you to agree to be my best man, and I appreciate your support.

Steve: All I ask in return is that you be happy.

Justin: That’s the plan.

Steve: Okay.

Kayla: Oh, my gosh. Bonnie, what happened?

Bonnie: Uh…oh, you mean the feathers? Oh, gosh, they just don’t make pillows the way they used to. I was just trying to fluff one up, and it just exploded on me.

Kayla: And calista?

Bonnie: Oh, it’s the darndest thing. She said she wasn’t feeling well, and she just keeled right over.

Kayla: Why didn’t you say something? I’ll examine her.

Bonnie: No! You can’T.

[ “The addams family” theme playing ]

Kayla: Why don’t you want me to examine her?

Bonnie: Because I already know what’s wrong with her. She had, like, 16 mimosas at breakfast, and then she started puking before lunch, and I’ve been cleaning up after her ever since.

Kayla: On your wedding day? That’s awful.

Bonnie: Yeah, tell me about it. Anyway, she finally fell asleep, so I just–I don’t wanna– you know, don’t wanna take the chance waking her.

Kayla: Yeah. I can relate. I felt a bit rough this morning myself.

Bonnie: I guess I shouldn’t have suggested kamikazes last night, huh?

Kayla: Or maybe I just shouldn’t have tried to keep up with you. But it looks like your sister-in-law might just sleep right through the wedding, which is really a shame, because I know that she came all this way for the occasion.

Bonnie: Yeah. Definitely a shame.

Kayla: Are you all right?

Bonnie: Huh? Oh, I’m great. I mean, I’m marrying the man of my dreams! Top of the world, ma!

[Laughs]

Kayla: So why were you just shaking, and what happened to your nail?

Steve: All right. To the light that’s back in your eyes and the woman who put it there.

Riggins: Okay. The mini quiches are delicious, and the croissants are–mmm.

Steve: I told him he could help himself.

Justin: Oh.

Riggins: I’m happy to see we’re up to two people. It’s getting late, and I do have another gig, so are we getting this show on the road anytime soon?

Justin: I sure hope so.

Bonnie: Uh…um… must have lost it when calista timbered and I tried to catch her on the way down.

Kayla: After all that time at the manicurist.

Bonnie: Nothing is going the right way. Nothing’s going the way I planned it. I mean, it’s the most important day of my life, and I’m making a mess of it.

Kayla: Bonnie, bonnie, bonnie, it’s all right. It’s just a nail, huh?

Bonnie: Yeah, it’s just a nail. Just a nail. Just–yeah.

[Breathes shakily]

Kayla: Are you sure you’re all right?

Bonnie: Justin is the best thing that ever happened to me. I just want to marry him before something else goes wrong, okay?

Kayla: And you will. But you know wt?Ha we need to take care of some rituals first.

Bonnie: Okay. Kamikazes at midnight, check.

Kayla: No, no. Yeah, no. But something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.

Bonnie: Well, calista kind of took care of that part. It’s borrowed, blue, some old tears, and some new stains. Ew. On second thought, I’m just gonna leave it here.

Kayla: Okay, then. Why don’t we get you into your dress and get you married?

Bonnie: Yeah.

[Both laugh]

Jack: You and doug have been married more than half your lives, and so of course you don’t want to think about that. You know, I don’t either, but it could be something that’s completely treatable.

Julie: Or it could be nothing at all.

Jack: Exactly. It could be nothing at all. In which case, why don’t we get it checked out? And then you’ll have peace of mind. Look at you. You’re still shivering. I think it’d be a good idea for you to get checked out too.

Julie: I’m not going anywhere. And neither is my husband.

Steve: I know brides can take their sweet time getting ready, but if we don’t get this party started soon, I’m afraid the jp’s gonna move on to his next gig. I’m gonna go check with the ladies and see if I can get an eta.

Justin: Good, good, good.

Kayla: Okay.

Steve: There they are.

Bonnie: Hi.

Justin: Bonnie, you look absolutely stunning.

Bonnie: You look pretty stunning yourself.

Steve: Where’s calista?

Kayla: Indisposed.

Steve: Too bad.

Justin: So are you ready to do this?

Bonnie: More ready than I’ve been in my entire life. I order my groceries online now.

Jack: There you are.

Gwen: Hi. Hi. Didn’t expect to see you back so soon. Julie, hope you’re doing okay.

Julie: [Chuckles] Please, gwen. I’m sure you were probably praying I’d turn into a popsicle. Excuse me, darling. I’m gonna go check on doug.

Gwen: Doug? What’s wrong with doug?

Jack: We’re not exactly sure.

Riggins: Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony. Matrimony should be entered into solemnly. With reverence and honor. Therefore, if any person here objects to this union, speak now, or forever hold your peace.

Calista: I have an objection. The bride just tried to kill me!

[Groans]

Gwen: Oh, dear. Do you think it’s dementia?

Jack: I don’t know. I don’t know, but I’m afraid julie’s in denial that anything is wrong.

Gwen: I’m so sorry. Really, I am. Look, I know that julie and i aren’t really pals, but doug–well, he and I shared a few midnight pints together. He’s good people.

Gwen: Well, I just see how very worried you are about doug, and I just remembered I have an errand that I have to run.

Jack: But you just got home.

Gwen: Yeah. I won’t be long. Sorry. Yeah. Thanks.

Justin: Bonnie, is something wrong?

Bonnie: [Chuckles] What could be wrong? Marrying a dreamboat like you.

[Chuckles] I’m sorry. Where were we?

Riggins: Matrimony should be entered into solemnly and with reverence and honor. Therefore, if any person here objects to this union, speak now, or forever hold your peace.

Xander: I have an objection.

Justin: What the hell are you doing here?

Xander: Your blushing bride stole $1 million from me, and I want it back.

Justin: Xander. Leave. Now.

Xander: You’re gonna wanna hear this, cuz. I guarantee it. You might even thank me.

Kayla: What’s this about?

Xander: Glad you asked. Quite simple, really. I had a briefcase full of cash in my room which has gone missing, and the only person that could have taken it is bonnie.

Justin: Why would bonnie be in your room?

Xander: Oh, I can think of one million reasons. But why don’t you ask her?

Justin: Bonnie, did you go to xander’s room?

Bonnie: Yes, I did, but to invite this lunkhead to our wedding.

Justin: Why would you do that?

Bonnie: Because he’s family. Victor refused to come, and none of your sons could make it on such short notice, so I thought inviting your cousin would be a nice surprise.

Xander: The only surprise was you running off with all my cash. Although, knowing your history, that’s not really that much of a surprise, is it?

Justin: All right, xander. You’re gonna stop right now.

Steve: Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Riggins: This is obviously a private matter. I will give you some time.

Kayla: Xander seems to have a newfound habit of crashing private parties and making scandalous claims.

Xander: Ah, but in the case of nicole and eric’s anniversary party, which is what I assume you’re alluding to, I merely stated fact. And that party is strangely relevant, because that’s how I earned the million dollars in question. And in that case, my scandalous claim was true, just as it is in this case. Isn’t that right, bonnie?

Ciara: Well, I know it’s a lot to process, but in order for the species to survive, humans have to procreate, and that is reproduce as tiny, little human beings called babies.

Ben: Oh, you think you’re so funny, don’t you?

Ciara: Oh, I know I’m so funny.

Ben: Hmm, and I know what babies are. But are you serious about us having one?

Calista: Well, have a seat.

Steve: Okay. But, uh, we haven’t been introduced. I’m steve johnson. And you must be…

Calista: Calista lockhart.

[Chuckles]

Steve: Nice to meet you.

Calista: Oh, the pleasure’s all mine, handsome.

[Both chuckle]

Justin: Bonnie’s not here?

Kayla: Um, not yet.

Justin: But wasn’t she planning to come by so you could help her get ready for the wedding?

Kayla: I guess she running a little late.

Justin: That’s strange. She left the house a while ago. Calista did say she had an errand to run, but still, she should have been here by now.

Xander: Settle down! I said I’m coming. You don’t have to bang quite so loudly, mate. You’re practically rattling the bed.

Jack: Gwen… what was snyder blackmailing you with? He must have had something pretty serious for you to agree to run drugs for him.

Gwen: Jack… you have to understand– I never wanted to hurt you.

Jack: Hurt me? How?

[Cell phone rings] Ah, just a minute. Uh, I’ll get rid of this. Uh, julie–julie, look, I-I’m sorry. I’m in the middle of something. Can we– what?

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

 

Jack: Julie, look, I’ll be there as soon as I can. All right, all right.

Gwen: What’s wrong? What’s happened to julie?

Jack: I’m sorry. I’m sorry. We’ll continue this conversation later. She’s locked in the freezer at julie’s place.

Gwen: Okay. Yeah, we’ll talk whenever, then.

[Door opens, closes]

[Sighs]

[Dramatic music]

 

Ej: I apologize if I made my presence known a little too forcefully. You weren’t answering, and I thought you’d like to see your employment contract.

Xander: Oh, nicole signed it?

Ej. Even dotted the I. Ah, ah, ah, not so fast. I’d like my money first.

Xander: Huh. That’s why you were so enthusiastic. You’ll get your money once I’m sure that you did what you said you would.

Ej: I assure you this employment contract is on the up-and-up.

Xander: I’ll be the judge of that. Sit tight. This might be a while.

Kayla: You are acting like a nervous groom.

Justin: I’m not acting. I mean, it takes a while for a bride to get ready for a wedding, right?

Kayla: It depends on the bride.

Justin: Well, bonnie isn’t exactly your rush-through-it kind of gal.

Kayla: Well, I will agree with you on that.

Justin: So why isn’t she here to start the process?

Kayla: You know, I really– I wouldn’t worry about bonnie.

Justin: Easy to say, but you and I both know that bonnie can be… unpredictable.

Kayla: Granted. Okay, as matron of honor, I will–I will figure it out. I will… I will track her down.

Justin: Oh, thanks.

Xander: There aren’t any surprises in here, are there?

Ej: Of course not. You’re welcome to take as long as you need, but you’ll see that all the terms and conditions are very clearly laid out.

Xander: I hope so.

Ej: This is what I do, xander. My contracts are iron-clad. Nicole couldn’t back out of this even if she wanted to.

Xander: Well, she had better not try.

Ej: Don’t worry. She’s on board with this deal. As you can see, her signature is right there, and everything is in order.

Xander: [Sighs] Did you hear that? On the outside, I looked fine.

Steve: So… calista lockhart.

Calista: Steve johnson.

[Giggles]

Steve: You’re bonnie’s sister-in-law, right?

Calista: Sort of. She was married to my brother david.

Steve: Right. Are you and bonnie close?

Calista: Well, I am at her wedding. Just like you’re here for your brother-in-law justin, right?

Steve: Well, I guess it’s similar.

Calista: Well, how exactly are you two related?

Steve: Justin was married to my sister adrienne. She passed away.

Calista: Oh, I see. I lost my husband, too.

Steve: I heard about that. I’m sorry. You mind if I ask what happened?

Calista: He was murdered. And the killer was never caught.

Steve: Well, that must’ve been terrible for you. When did this happen?

Calista: Mr. Johnson–

Steve: Steve.

Calista: Steve… you ask an awful lot of questions. Makes me wonder why you’re so interested in me?

Xander: I didn’t hear anything. My ears are full of water from the shower.

Ej: I thought I heard a phone buzz. It wasn’t mine.

Xander: Doesn’t look like it was mine either.

Ej: Must’ve been one of the rooms next door. These walls have always been paper-thin. So… do we have a deal or not?

Xander: Oh, we have a deal.

Ej: Thank you. You don’t mind if I open that to make sure the million’s all there?

Xander: Be my guest.

[Breathes deeply]

Kayla: Anyway, uh, bonnie, I am here with justin, your dashing groom, and we’re just wondering where you are. So, when you get this message, if you could call me back, it’d be great. Thanks

Justin: Why isn’t she picking up?

Kayla: I don’t know. Maybe she’s at the hair salon, and she’s under the dryer, and she can’t hear anything. Okay, okay, okay–

Justin: Why wouldn’t she tell you that she was at the hair salon?

Kayla: I’ll text her, okay?

Justin: Thank you. That’s a good idea.

Kayla: Text bonnie lockhart. Bonnie, this is kayla. I’m here with your handsome groom-to-be, and we are wondering when you’re coming to the house. So, uh, get back to me when you get this message, okay? Send. There.

[Cell phone beeps] Oh.

Justin: Is that her?

Kayla: Yes, it is. And you know what? I was not that far off. She’s at the nail salon, and she’s a little hung up, but she said she will be here any minute. So, you see, nothing to worry about.

Xander: The cash is all there. I’d be awfully stupid to try and trick you now, wouldn’t I?

[Cell phone rings]

Ej: [Sighs] I have to take this outside. It’s a time-sensitive deal for dimera. Just know that if there’s a penny missing from this briefcase, I’ll be back for my pound of flesh.

Xander: Duly noted.

Ej: Pleasure doing business with you.

Xander: If you say so.

[Cell phone beeps]

Ej: Ej dimera.

Xander: [Sighs] We are back in business. Oh, bloody hell! Why didn’t he say something?

[Dramatic music]

 

Ciara: Um…

[Chuckles awkwardly] Why do you look so uncomfortable?

Ben: I’m not, baby. I’m just surprised.

[Chuckles]

Ciara: Yeah, but, I mean, we’ve talked about having a baby before. Is it really such a surprise that I brought it up?

Ben: I guess not. No, it’s just that, you know, we– I don’t know. You just caught me off guard. We got married about a week ago, and we’re still on our honeymoon.

Ciara: Oh, is that why we’re having such a good time?

Ben: Yes. And it’s the reason why I am a little bit surprised that you chose right now to bring up such a big step for us. You know, I thought that maybe we would wait until we at least got back to reality in salem.

Ciara: Yeah, well, I probably would have wanted to wait if it had actually been a week since we got married. But, ben… in every way that counts, you and I have been married since last july.

Ben: And I have certainly felt that way.

Ciara: We would have been together all of this time. We should have been together all this time. If it hadn’t been for eve and vincent and…

Ben: Rhodes and evan.

Ciara: Yeah.

Ben: Ciara, we lost a year because of them.

Ciara: Yeah. Thank god it was only a year. But now we’re back, ben. We’re back together, and we have our entire future ahead of us.

Ben: Yeah. Then what is the rush to have a kid right now?

Ciara: [Scoffs] I’m not in a rush. It’S… it’s just… when I’m with you, I can’t help but imagine a future with you… and all of the dreams that we share together.

Ben: The dream of us being parents together.

Ciara: Yeah. Remember? You, me… a little baby boy named bo.

Ben: Of course I remember

Ciara: Although I really don’t care what the gender is. I mean, it could be a boy, a girl, it doesn’t matter, as long as you are the father. Ben, I finally have you back. We’re finally together. And I just–I can’t wait to make all those dreams come true. But only if you are also on board. This is the sound of an asthma attack…

Ben: Ciara, when I had that dream about us having a baby together… I thought I lost you.

Ciara: Yeah, well, I’m right here. I’m right here right now. So there’s no reason it has to live in your head.

Ben: I know, but that was just one of many dreams that I had about you that past year… about all the things that I want us to share together, about all the things that I never thought I would ever have again.

Ciara: Are you saying you don’t want those things anymore?

Ben: No, of course not. But like you said, they lived in my head. This… this is reality.

Ciara: Isn’t that a good thing?

Ben: It’s a great thing. Baby, it’s a great thing. It’s just that…

[Sighs] A baby is a huge responsibility. Costs a lot of money.

Ciara: No, I know. I know, and it’s not like we don’t make any income.

Ben: Well, I’m not exactly getting rich at the garage, but…

Ciara: Okay, well, maybe I can work for grandpa victor again at titan.

Ben: But do you even really want to do that? The only reason why you even took that job in the first place was to prove that victor was framing me for jordan’s murder.

Ciara: Yeah. Well, thank god he didn’T. And besides, ben, I think I would be really good at that job.

Ben: Would he even want you back at the company?

Ciara: Mm, you know what?

Ben: Hmm?

Ciara: Being dead for a year kind of has its perks.

Ben: [Chuckles]

Ciara: Grandpa victor was so happy to have me back that he forgave me for everything I did at titan.

Ben: Mm, until he decides to use that against you one day.

Ciara: No, I’m pretty sure he’s gonna be fully on team ciara… especially once he finds out that I’d be carrying his great-grandchild.

[Dramatic music]

 

[Knock at door]

Xander: [Sighs] Gwen?

Gwen: Is that a question?

Xander: No, I’m just surprised to see you.

Gwen: So surprised, you’re not going to ask me to come in?

Xander: No, please. I thought we already said our goodbyes.

Gwen: Yes, we did.

Xander: And obviously we can’t be together because your father thinks I’m some scum-of-the-earth drug dealer.

Gwen: Yeah, right, that article–that was rather harsh. It’s, um–it’s actually why I’m here.

Xander: I’m not following.

Gwen: I couldn’t let my father think those terrible things about you. Not to mention publishing it for the whole bloody world to see–it’s not fair.

Xander: Don’t worry. I’m used to people thinking I’m a terrible person.

Gwen: But you’re not a terrible person, xander. You helped me. You kept me safe. So I told my father the truth– that this whole time, you’ve been covering for me.

Xander: You did? You told him the whole story?

Gwen: No, no, not the whole story. Just that snyder was blackmailing me into being his drug mule.

Xander: I don’t understand. If you didn’t tell jack about the miscarriage, then why does jack think that snyder was able to blackmail you?

Gwen: Well, yes, he did ask the question. He did, and I was about to answer, but then his phone rang. Julie phoned with some emergency.

Xander: What kind of emergency?

Gwen: [Scoffs] Apparently the old bat got herself locked in her own freezer.

[Snickers]

Julie: I can’t feel my toes… or my feet.

Jack: Here, here, drink this. It’ll warm you up.

Julie: Oh, thaw me out, you mean.

Jack: Okay, just– there you go.

Julie: [Slurping] Ahh. Ahh.

Julie: Thank you, jack, for the tea and for rescuing me from frozen doom.

Jack: I’m sorry I didn’t get here sooner.

Julie: You got here in the nick of time. Nick of time. A couple of more minutes, and all you would’ve found would be a julie-cicle.

Jack: Oh, my gosh. I just don’t–I don’t understand. How did you end up stuck in the freezer in the first place?

Julie: I didn’t end up. I was locked in.

Jack: What? Who would do that?

Julie: Doug did it! My own husband locked me in freezer. Lactaid is 100% real milk, just without the lactose.

Jack: Doug locked you in the freezer? Are you sure?

Julie: As sure as my new name is ice woman.

Jack: Well, I don’t– why on earth would he do something like that?

Julie: Oh, you’ll have to ask him.

[Chuckles] We were setting up for the dinner crowd. I said, “I’m just gonna go back to the freezer, pick up a couple of extra rib eye steaks.” Went there, put the doorstop under the door as I always do, and the next thing I know, the door slams shut.

Jack: The stopper just slipped out. It was an accident.

Julie: Yeah, that’s what I thought. So I banged on the door, and doug walked up to the door, and he looked through the little window, and then he walked away.

Jack: What?

Julie: I thought, “oh, it must really be stuck. He’s just gone for help.” He never came back.

Ciara: Oh, I get it, ben. Our life has been unstable…

Ben: Oh.

Ciara: To say the least. But we don’t have to be rich to have a baby. I’m pretty sure our jobs will be enough.

Ben: Okay, so say we’re both working. Who is gonna take care of the kid?

Ciara: Well, I can take time off when the baby’s born.

Ben: Okay, and how about after that?

Ciara: I will work remotely sometimes. And we can arrange our hours. And we can even hire a nanny.

Ben: Okay, so– all right, all right. All right, so we’re both gonna be working like crazy in order to earn enough to then hire somebody else to watch our baby while we’re working?

Ciara: Yeah, well, I didn’t say we wouldn’t have to make sacrifices. But, baby, people do it all the time. We can manage.

Ben: Is that where we set the bar for parenting– managing?

Ciara: [Scoffs] What are you doing, ben?

Ben: What do you mean?

Ciara: You are arguing every single point that I make. Am I missing something here, or… or do you just not want to have a baby with me?

Ben: [Sighs]

Kayla: Well, mystery solved. Bonnie will show up with freshly painted nails.

Justin: Yes. Yes, that’s a relief. I’m sorry I made this a thing. I guess I’m a little paranoid.

Kayla: Well, I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. She was just beautifying her hands.

Justin: Yeah. Well, it’s not her hands that I’m worried about. More like cold feet.

Kayla: Are you serious?

Justin: A little.

Kayla: Oh, come on. Bonnie is crazy about you. Remember, she was gonna propose to you herself? Listen, last night she went on and on about how much she loves you, and I have the hangover to prove it.

Justin: Well, things can look entirely different in the cold light of day.

Kayla: It was not the booze talking. She is completely smitten with you. She can’t wait to be your wife.

Justin: So she wasn’t concerned at all?

Kayla: About you? No.

Justin: What does that mean?

Kayla: It means that bonnie was worried about one thing– calista lockhart.

Steve: So was I asking a lot of questions?

Calista: Yes, you were. Not that I mind. I mean, it’s been a while since I’ve been showered with so much attention from such a handsome man.

Steve: Well, when I meet someone new, I can’t help but be interested. I’m a–I’m a curious guy.

Calista: I understand. I’m curious, too.

Steve: Oh? About what?

Calista: Well, for starters, what’s going on underneath that patch? How’d you lose your eye?

Steve: My eye?

Calista: Was that too forward?

Steve: No, no, it’s okay. Not forward at all. I, um–I lost it in a knife fight, actually.

Calista: Wow, how dramatic… and sexy, too.

Steve: Oh?

Calista: You know… weddings put me in a certain mood.

Steve: [Chuckles]

Calista: [Chuckles] We can head on upstairs right now. Nobody would miss us.

Steve: For what?

Calista: [Chuckles] I mean, we the have time, and I’m definitely getting a little vibe here.

Steve: Oh, you’re getting a vibe?

Calista: Mm-hmm.

Steve: Between us?

Calista: Mm-hmm.

Steve: Well… [Chuckles] Well, you know, I’m married…

Calista: Oh.

Steve: To the matron of honor.

Calista: Happily?

Steve: Very.

Calista: I understand. I won’t tell if you won’T.

Steve: Oh, wait. Is struggling to manage your type 2 diabetes

Ben: Ciara weston… of course I want to have a baby with you.

Ciara: Well, it really doesn’t seem like it, ben weston.

Ben: I know. But that is only because I’ve spent this entire year thinking about how I would do anything to have one more minute with you. And now I have you back, and I’m trying to soak up every single second of it because I know how precious it is. I know that every moment with you is a gift, and that is why I love being with you so damn much, just the two of us.

Ciara: [Sighs] And you’re worried that a baby is going to ruin that?

Ben: I’m just worried about skipping steps, ciara.

Ciara: [Sighs] I get that. I get it. Um… we think we have all this time, but like you said, we don’t know how much time we’ll have.

Ben: And nobody understands that better than I do. But being with you like this on our honeymoon, riding on the back of your bike, letting the road take us wherever it may… this is the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life. So maybe you can call me selfish, but… I’m not ready to give that up yet.

Ciara: Okay, but, you know, the honeymoon isn’t gonna last forever, right?

Ben: Mm-hmm, but it can last a little bit longer.

Ciara: Oh, my god, ben.

Ben: Because I’m not ready for it to stop. I lost you for too damn long, and now I want you all to myself.

Ciara: So you don’t want to have the baby conversation at all?

Ben: Would it be all right with you if maybe we just postponed talk now?

Justin: What are bonnie’s concerns about calista?

Kayla: I don’t actually know. She just was really upset last night. Something was bothering her, and when I asked her about it, she just said it had to do with her former sister-in-law.

Justin: Well, this morning bonnie was really jumpy when calista barged into our bedroom.

Kayla: She did what?

Justin: At the time, I thought it was just a really uncomfortable moment, but, uh… you know, actually, I’m still a little unclear about what their relationship actually is.

Kayla: Well, what did she want?

Justin: She said she was there to give bonnie an old handkerchief that belonged to her late husband.

Kayla: Harrison lord?

Justin: Yeah, right, that’s the guy.

Kayla: Oh.

Justin: Do you think I should talk to bonnie about this before the wedding?

Kayla: Well, it’s your call. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. I mean, the only thing that matters is that she is completely and totally in love with you.

Justin: [Chuckles] The feeling’s mutual.

Kayla: It makes me so happy to hear you say that.

Justin: I have to say, I never saw her coming. Now I can’t imagine my life without her.

Kayla: Well, I know she puts a smile on your face.

Justin: Every day. And I know it took you and steve a while to come around to her. And I don’t blame you after what she did to adrienne. And you were just, you know, looking out for me.

Kayla: You know what? That was a long time ago. And I think that she has completely changed, and so does steve.

Justin: It means a lot to me that you guys approve.

Kayla: Well, bonnie will always be, shall we say, quirky.

Justin: [Laughs]

Kayla: But I don’t think that she is the same woman that tried to destroy adrienne’s life and break every law to get what she wanted. Really, I think that she’s really turned her life around, and maybe it was motivated by your love. But your kindness and your decency has definitely rubbed off on her, and I think that this woman you’re marrying is truly a good person. I believe that.

Steve: Oh, okay.

Bonnie: [Gasps]

Steve: All right, all right, that’s enough. Get up, get up.

Bonnie: What the hell is going on here?

Steve: Ask your sister-in-law.

Calista: Well, hey, bons. Steve and I here were just getting a little better acquainted.

Bonnie: Yeah, I can see that.

Steve: What are you doing here, bonnie? You’re supposed to be with kayla getting dressed for the wedding, aren’t you?

Bonnie: Yeah, well– yeah, but I got hung up at the manicurist. I cracked a nail. And can you believe it, on my wedding day?

[Chuckles] Anyhow, I never made it to your place. And so I just figured it’d just be faster and get dressed here, so…

Steve: Okay, well, you forgot your makeup bag this morning, and justin’s on his way over to take it to you over to kayla’S.

Bonnie: Uh…

Steve: I better call her.

Bonnie: No, um, actually– um… [Clears throat] Actually, I think calista could help me get dressed. That’d be fine, right, calista?

Calista: Oh, absolutely. What are sister-in-laws for? Or is it sisters-in-law? Come on, let’s head upstairs.

Bonnie: Let’S. Uh, steve, would you mind calling justin for me and just ask him to bring my makeup bag back with him when he comes back? You’re so funny. Go.

Steve: Sure, no problem.

Jack: Are you sure that doug saw you in the freezer?

Julie: I’m sure. We made eye contact.

Jack: It’s just… it’s just strange, that’s all. I mean, maybe he was just playing a prank.

Julie: [Scoffs] There’s nothing funny about this. The doug I know would never lock me in the freezer. And now I don’t know where he is. I don’t know what he’s done. Jack… I think something is terribly wrong.

Xander: So julie got locked in the freezer at her own restaurant? How?

Gwen: I don’t know. Probably some angry member of her own kitchen staff. I’m sure they all bloody hate her.

Xander: I mean, is she all right?

Gwen: Yes, I think she’ll be just fine. My dad went off to rescue her. He’s giving her warm broth and cognac now as we speak.

Xander: Okay, but after he thaws her out, what then?

Gwen: [Sighs] You mean am I going to tell him about my miscarriage happening before I fell down the stairs and that my fight with abigail had nothing to do with it?

Xander: It’s an awfully big risk.

Gwen: I know. I know, I know. We shouldn’t have to do it, but, honestly, I-I don’t think I have any other way out of it.

Xander: Jack is not gonna react well to that.

Gwen: [Sighs] God, he’s going to be so disappointed in me, xander. He’s worked so hard to bring me into his family… make up for lost time. I don’t think he’ll be able to look at me the same way ever again.

Xander: You don’t have to do it, gwen.

Gwen: But I do. I can’t let him keep printing these nasty stories about you that aren’t true. It’s gonna ruin your reputation forever.

Xander: [Sighs] Not to mention, I’ll lose the million dollars I spent on my defense.

[Pounding on door]

Ej: Xander! Open up, you thief! Did you know that your toughest cleaning problems

Justin: Well, I’m glad that you think that bonnie has turned over a new leaf.

Kayla: I definitely do. And I trust your judgment, justin.

Justin: It would definitely be a little challenging invoking spousal privilege or acting as bonnie’s attorney as well as her husband.

Kayla: I don’t think it’s ever a good idea to have your wife be your client. I mean, that would be awkward.

Justin: Yes, and we wouldn’t want anything connected to the wedding to feel awkward.

Kayla: You know, I know it’s strange, me being bonnie’s matron of honor and steve being your best man. But I don’t know. I just feel like this windy road has all led us to where we really should be, you know?

Justin: I think so.

Kayla: And I don’t know. Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but I feel like we have a little help from above.

Justin: [Chuckles] You think adrienne had something to do with all this?

Kayla: I’d like to think that. I’d like to think that, um, she’s somewhere just smiling down on all of us.

Justin: [Chuckles]

Xander: Is there a problem, mate?

Ej: What the hell are you trying to pull?

Xander: What are you talking about?

Ej: The briefcase!

Xander: What about it?

Ej: Are we really gonna play this game?

Xander: I don’t understand.

Gwen: What’s going on here?

Xander: Are you really trying to say that the money wasn’t in the briefcase when I gave it to you?

Ej: Oh, don’t act surprised.

Xander: I know for a fact the money was in there this morning.

Ej: Well, it’s certainly not there now. Did you leave it unattended?

Xander: Of course not. It’s been with me the whole time.

Ej: What about your friend here? Did you leave her alone with it?

Gwen: Hey, you don’t even know me!

Xander: Leave her out of this–she just got here.

Ej: Well, if you’re not lying to me…

Xander: Which I’m not.

Ej: Then someone stole it. A million dollars doesn’t just walk away on its own!

Calista: Oh, oh!

[Sighs]

Bonnie: Look, here’s your money, all of it.

Calista: Well, it’s about time. Although I did manage to occupy myself with the best man.

Bonnie: Yeah, I noticed.

Calista: Now, why didn’t you…

[Gasps] Tell me how sexy steve is? Did you know he lost his eye in a knife fight?

Bonnie: Will you stop?

Calista: Well, why are you so stressed out?

Bonnie: I almost got caught stealing this money. I was two seconds away from being thrown in the pokey on my wedding day.

Calista: Okay, that does sound stressful.

Bonnie: Stressful? I was hiding under a bed picturing justin’s face and how disappointed he’d be in me.

Calista: Well, he does know what kind of gal he’s marrying, right?

Bonnie: I’ve gone straight, okay? I’m not a crook anymore.

Calista: Well, don’t take it out on me. If you’re gonna go run off with stolen buddybucks, you better be prepared to live with the consequences.

Bonnie: That was years ago! I told justin I was done with that life, and I meant it. I just pray to god he never finds out about this.

Calista: Well, he won’t hear it from me. I will just take this and be on my way.

Bonnie: Oh, I don’t think so.

Calista: Well, what’s your problem?

Bonnie: Oh, you’re not going anywhere till you give me that gun, girl.

Ciara: [Sighs] If you aren’t ready to have the baby conversation, then… of course we can postpone it… because I want to spend as much time as I can with you, too.

Ben: Are you sure? You’re not upset?

Ciara: No. I was just– I was excited. I was excited for us. We finally have a future. We’re finally back together with nothing in the way to stop us.

Ben: Ciara, I promise you I am excited, too. And I want to have a baby with you. I really do. Just… not right now.

Ciara: I understand. I get it. And why skip steps when each one is so perfect? Like right now. We should be focusing on getting to new orleans, if you are ready to hit the road.

Ben: Mm.

Ciara: [Giggles]

Julie: Doug’s still not answering. Where in the world can he be?

Jack: Don’t worry. We’ll find him.

Julie: I’m getting scared, jack. I have no idea why he would leave me like this. What if something awful has happened to him?

Xander: I understand you’re upset.

Ej: I’m out a million dollars is what I am.

Xander: Look, can we just, uh, take a minute here and figure it out? There must be a reasonable explanation.

Ej: Let me know when you find out what that is. In the meantime, I’m getting the ball rolling on sending you to prison.

Xander: [Sighs]

Ej: And you can forget about that job.

Xander: Ej, wait. Come on.

[Sighs]

Gwen: [Scoffs] Okay, I know you said that the arrest cost you a million dollars, but did you–

Xander: Did I what?

Gwen: I don’t know. Did you–did you scam him?

Xander: Of course not. I wasn’t lying to ej. I told him the truth. As far as I know, the money was in that briefcase when I gave it to him, and it hasn’t been out of my sight.

Gwen: Is it possible he’s lying, then?

Xander: Did that look like he was lying?

Gwen: Well, I don’t know. Did you–did you let anyone else in here? A housekeeper, maid or anyone, someone?

Bonnie: Hi. Morning, sunshine.

Xander: What the hell are you doing here?

[Sighs]

Gwen: What? What? What–what is it?

Xander: Someone else was here.

[Cell phone rings]

Kayla: Oh, sorry. Oh.

Justin: Is it bonnie?

Kayla: No, no, it’s steve. Hi. Hey, um, listen, you know, justin’s here, and, uh, we’re still waiting on bonnie.

Steve: I know. She asked me to tell you she’s not coming.

Kayla: What? Why not?

Steve: Well, she decided to come back here and get ready at the house. She just went upstairs with calista lockhart.

Kayla: So you met calista?

Steve: Oh, yeah, I met her. I got to tell you, baby, I didn’t get a great vibe.

Bonnie: Give me the gun, girl.

Calista: [Inhales sharply] Fine.

Bonnie: [Scoffs] Okay, you did the first part. Now hand it over.

Calista: Oh, I’m sorry, bon-bon, but you’re not getting the gun. You… are getting the bullet.

Ben: This is the way to honeymoon.

Ciara: I don’t know what is better, camping out under the stars or waking up to watch the sunrise.

Ben: What sunrise?

Ciara: The one that we just saw.

Ben: Oh, I must’ve missed it. I was too busy looking at my beautiful wife.

Gwen: “Despite overwhelming evidence that xander cook teamed up with a crooked doctor to sell stolen opioids, he is a free man. Despite disposing of the doctor’s corpse, he’s off the hook. How does a notorious thug facing multiple felony charges just walk away? Simple. He pays ej dimera, a gangster with a law license, to pull some strings. As citizens of salem, we must fight this brazen abuse of power. We must put cook behind bars. Until then, we must make sure shame follows him wherever he goes.” Oh god, poor xander. Publicly crucified for something he didn’t even do. I know we promised not to see each other, but–

Jack: Hey, gwen. Everything okay?

Gwen: I just read the hatchet job that you did on xander. How could you? That is for keeping my secret. That is for spending the night in jail. And this– this– this is for the million dollars.

[Rapid knocking at door]

Xander: She’s back. All right.

Ej: You made the paper.

Xander: Hmm. And jack wrote this?

Ej: It’s a complete hatchet job. He slammed me as well, which I understand. But I thought he was your friend.

Xander: Not anymore.

Ej: Well, you know what they say. Never trust a journalist.

Xander: I’m sure you didn’t come by just to warn me about the press.

Ej: No, I didn’T. I came to collect my million dollars.

Steve: Ooh. You’re still not feeling any better, sweetness?

Kayla: [Groaning]

Steve: Now that must’ve been some bachelorette party.

Kayla: What was I thinking letting bonnie talk me into doing shots? I should’ve been smart like you and justin.

Steve: Well, yeah, had a couple beers and smoked cigars?

Kayla: Yeah, I would have rather done that than this. I mean, throwing vodka down my throat, ugh.

Steve: Last night you said you had a great time.

Kayla: Well, last night, I was feeling no pain. I don’t think I can say the same for bonnie though.

Steve: What do you mean?

Kayla: I just thought that she would be bubbling over with excitement. She wasn’T. There was definitely something bothering her.

Justin: Morning, beautiful. See, you didn’t have to worry about those silly superstitions that say it’s bad luck for a bride and groom to see each other on their wedding day. We spent the night together and we’re waking up together. And nothing bad has happened.

[Door opening]

Bonnie: [Gasps]

Calista: I have something for you, bonnie.

Justin: Calista, what are you doing? This is our wedding day.

Calista: Oh, there’s not gonna be a wedding unless you want to marry a murderer.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

 

Gwen: I can’t believe that you’d write such horrible things about him. I thought–I thought he was your friend.

Jack: Our friendship didn’t end because of me. Xander is the one who ruined it.

Gwen: What? So you just slam him in the newspaper then, completely destroy his reputation.

Jack: His reputation? He’s a career criminal.

Gwen: Okay. Look, you’re my father and I know you have strong feelings about all of this. But, jack, you should’ve handled this privately.

Jack: It’s my job to expose corruption. Xander is as corrupt as they come. He teamed up with that sleaze snyder to push pills on the street. And when snyder dropped dead, he dumped his partner’s body so that no one would make the connection.

Gwen: Jack, please–

Jack: You could’ve ended up dead or in jail, but not xander. No, no, no. He hired ej dimera to use his influence and connections to make it all go away. You think I should just ignore that?

Gwen: No, I don’T. But I do think that you could have hired a reporter to tell the public the story, and then that way they would’ve all just moved on and forgotten about it. But no, you had to scream on the editorial page and now everyone thinks that xander is some sort of monster. He does not deserve this.

Jack: He risked your life. Why the hell are you defending him?

Ej: I had all the charges against you dismissed. You could sue jack for libel. But I’m not doing you any more legal favors until I get my money back. Hand it over.

Xander: I will. After I get my job back at basic black.

Ej: You’ll have your contract today. But there had better not be one penny of that money missing or I’ll have those charges reinstated so fast it will make your head spin.

Xander: The money will be there.

Ej: I’ll be back.

Justin: What are you talking about?

Calista: Your little fiancée here murdered my husband.

Justin: I don’t believe you.

Calista: Well, then it’s a good thing I brought proof. I have the murder weapon right here in my bag and it has bonnie’s grubby little fingerprints all over it.

Justin: What the hell is that?

Calista: That is what blondie here used to kill my hubby.

Justin: Is this true?

Calista: Oh, I think the look on her face answers that.

Justin: You’re a killer? Oh, my god. I’m not marrying you.

Bonnie: No, no, no. I can explain.

Justin: Don’t bother. The wedding is off!

Bonnie: [Shrieking] No!

Justin: Bonnie, what–what– what’s going on? What’s wrong?

Bonnie: Oh, god, justin, it was horrible. Someone showed up out of nowhere and ruined our wedding.

Justin: Oh, sweetheart, it was a bad dream. Okay. Hey, hey, hey. Sweetheart, it was a bad dream. Everything’s going to be fine.

Bonnie: Okay.

Justin: Okay, our wedding’s going to be perfect. Okay?

Calista: I have something for you, bonnie. Your mission:

[Tender music]

 

Ben: Can I show you something?

Ciara: Of course. The poetry book that shawn gave us. What a lovely little wedding gift.

Ben: Yeah, I was going through it. And I found this one shakespeare sonnet that just totally hit home for me.

Ciara: How so?

Ben: It just reminds me of where I was in my life before I met you and where I am now because of you.

Steve: There you go, baby.

Kayla: Thank you.

Steve: Take those.

Kayla: I am never drinking vodka again.

Steve: Well, how do you think bonnie’s feeling this morning? I’m sure she knocked back her share too, huh?

Kayla: I know. I tried to warn her that she wouldn’t want a hangover on her wedding day, but she wouldn’t listen. There was–there was definitely something bothering her. I mean, she was determined to get smashed.

Steve: You don’t think she’s getting cold feet, do you?

Kayla: No. I think she can’t wait to marry justin. Thank you. No, there’s something bothering her, but all she would say is it had to do with calista lockhart.

Steve: Did you say calista flockhart?

Kayla: Lockhart.

Steve: Who the hell is that?

Calista: I have a present for you.

Bonnie: I don’t need any presents.

Calista: But it’s the perfect thing for your wedding day. It’s old, borrowed and blue.

Bonnie: No, no, please. Please. Please.

Calista: Well, easy, sister. Just want to give you this. It belonged to my late husband, harrison lord. Well, are you going to take it or not?

Bonnie: I really don’t need any presents, like I said. And that belonged to your late husband. I think he should keep it. And I already have something blue.

Calista: If you say so.

Justin: Well, we have a big day ahead of us. So I’m going to start getting ready. I’ll meet you downstairs for breakfast.

Calista: Where’s my money?

Bonnie: I don’t have it.

Calista: Why the hell not? I told you where to get it. From that xander guy at the salem inn. He’s sitting on a million bucks, which is just exactly what you owe me.

Xander: Ej better come through with that contract or he’s not getting a damn dime.

Nicole: Ej. I read jack’s editorial. It didn’t paint you in a very flattering light.

Ej: Oh, I’m not worried about that in the least. It’s better to be feared than respected. Huh?

[Laughs] Anyway, I’m not here for idle chitchat. I’ve come here to discuss a personnel matter.

Nicole: Okay.

Ej: I would like you to give xander his job back.

Nicole: Sure, yeah. That’ll happen over my dead body. To be a thriver

Ej: I’m the co-ceo of this corporation, and I’m telling you to hire xander back.

Nicole: Did chad sign off on this?

Ej: Forget chad. You answer to me.

[Nicole scoffs] I’ve drawn up a contract. Same terms as before. Sign it.

Nicole: No.

Ej: Excuse me?

Nicole: I know you’ve been out of the game for a while, ej. But perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the terms of my contract.

Ej: Why would I bother doing that?

Nicole: Because it includes a provision states that as the executives in charge of basic black, I.E., Brady and I, have full autonomy over all personnel decisions. And I’m quite confident that I can speak for my partner when I say there is no way in hell we are hiring xander.

Jack: Why would you defend xander after what he did to you?

Gwen: Have you gone completely mad? You just convinced my father that you’re totally responsible for crimes that I’ve committed.

Xander: Jack wanted to know why you went along with snyder on the drug deal. I knew you couldn’t explain that to him without… admitting that snyder was blackmailing you. And then jack would’ve wanted to know what he had on you. If jack ever finds out you lied about abigail being responsible for your miscarriage–

Gwen: [Sighs] I know. He wouldn’t want any part of me. I don’t understand that, wh– why did you cover for me?

Xander: Well, it’S… better for me to lose a friend than for you to lose your father.

Gwen: I already explained this to you the other day, jack. I sympathize with xander because I know what it’s like to be in his situation, to be desperate and destitute.

Jack: Because he’s broke, it’s okay to drag you into his criminal enterprise? Put everyone under this roof in danger! How can you excuse that?

Gwen: I’m not. I’m just saying that I understand it.

Jack: Well, I don’T. I don’t understand anything.

Gwen: What do you want me from me, jack?

Jack: The truth about you and xander.

Kayla: Calista is bonnie’s sister-in-law.

Steve: Never heard of her.

Kayla: Well, I don’t think that they had seen each other for a long time. And then calista showed up out of the blue and bonnie got carried away and invited her to the wedding.

Steve: And her name’s calista lockhart. Ha. Who’s she married to, harrison ford?

Kayla: No, harrison lord.

Steve: You’re kidding me.

Kayla: No, I’m not.

[Both laughing]

Steve: Come on.

Kayla: I’m not.

Steve: So who’s their kid? Ally mcsolo?

Kayla: You know, I have no idea. But all I know is that I think bonnie said that he’s dead.

Steve: So what’s this calista person like?

Kayla: I don’t know. She wasn’t there last night.

Steve: Okay. She came all the way to salem for the wedding and she didn’t go to the bachelorette party?

Kayla: I think there’s some kind of bad blood between them.

Steve: Maybe that’s why bonnie was so nervous last night.

Kayla: I don’t know. I mean, I just felt like she was dying to say it. She just wanted to unburden herself somehow.

Steve: But she obviously didn’T.

Kayla: No. In fact, every time I thought she was going to say something, she would just clam up and order another drink.

Steve: Wonder what that was about.

Calista: I told you yesterday I saw some hunk named xander walking into that hotel where you put me up carrying a briefcase with a million dollars in it.

Bonnie: I know.

Calista: So why didn’t you steal it?

Bonnie: [Huffs] I just– I couldn’T. Oh, come on. Look at me, all right? Look–look how far I’ve come. I can’t risk going back to prison. I’m marrying the most wonderful man I’ve ever met.

Calista: Yeah, obviously, he doesn’t know the real person he’s marrying.

Bonnie: Oh, believe me. Justin has seen the worst of me. He knows all about my past. And you know what? He believes I’ve changed. He believes I’ve turned my life around, and I have. And now, we’re in love. For crying out loud, it’s my wedding day! I got a lot on my mind. Can I just pay you later?

Calista: No. You screwed me once, sister. I’m not going to let it happen again. Oh, look at that. Better get crackin’. There’s only a couple of hours to take care of business before the wedding.

Bonnie: And what have i don’t?

Calista: Well, then, I will just show justin this little old gun, and your love story will be over.

Ben: Outcast and alone. That was me when I first met you.

Ciara: Would you read some?

For thy sweet love remembered such wealth brings. That then I scorn to change my state with kings.” That, ciara, is exactly how I feel about you. Because when we are together… I wouldn’t trade places with anybody in the world.

Ciara: Neither would I.

Nicole: Why would you want to hire xander, anyway? He’s a nightmare to work with. And he smells like patchouli.

Ej: So we’ll get him some new cologne.

Nicole: [Huffs] Trust me, ej, if I go along with this, you will live to regret it.

Ej: I won’t regret getting my money back.

Nicole: What money?

Ej: Samantha paid xander a million dollars to blow up your marriage.

Nicole: Oh, I knew it! I knew it even when you wouldn’t admit it before.

Ej: The point is, there’s no way in hell I’m letting either of them get away with it.

Nicole: Great, fine. Perfect. Just leave me out of it.

Ej: Xander won’t give me back my money unless I get him back his job.

Nicole: Well, I won’t work with him.

Ej: Xander was paid a small fortune to do what he did, and you’re okay with that.

Nicole: No. No, of course not, but think about what you’re asking me to do. How would you feel if I told you to hire lucas?

Ej: It’s not the same thing.

Nicole: Yeah, yeah, it’s a similar idea…okay? I’m not going to work with that– that person who destroyed my marriage.

Ej: We all have to put up with colleagues we don’t like.

Nicole: But I don’t dislike xander. I hate him with every fiber of my being. He is a living, breathing repulsive reminder of the worst mistake I’ve made in my life. And, you know what, to have to work with him every day– no. No, thank you. I’m not doing it. And you know, ej, do you really need the money?

Ej: It’s the principle. I can’t let samantha win.

Nicole: Well, I can’t let xander win, so…

Ej: Hmm. Suit yourself. But if you don’t sign this contract…you’re fired.

Calista: Well, hey, don’t you look handsome?

Justin: Thank you.

Calista: I hope you don’t mind–I just helped myself. Bonnie told me to make myself at home.

Justin: Of course.

Calista: And what a fabulous home it is.

Justin: Calista, please don’t take this the wrong way, but I have to say… I’m a little surprised that you’re here when bonnie’s never even mentioned you before.

Calista: Hmm. Well, you know, bonnie and I have not been in contact since my husband died. But I wouldn’t miss her wedding for the world.

Justin: Where is bonnie anyway? I thought we were supposed to have breakfast together.

Calista: She just left. Said she had an important errand to run.

Bonnie: Hi! Morning, sunshine.

Xander: What are doing here?

Bonnie: Oh–ha ha. I came to invite you to our wedding.

Xander: What?

Bonnie: Yeah, justin and i are getting married, and, uh, we would love the honor, um, no, the pleas– whatever–ha ha ha! We both want you there.

Xander: You’re getting married today, and you came here yourself to invite me?

Bonnie: Mm-hmm.

Xander: That’s a little weird even for you, bonnie.

Bonnie: Oh, come on. Just say yes.

Xander: Not until I figure out what’s really going on. Tell me, bonnie, what am I missing?

Gwen: The truth is xander’s not the terrible person that you think he is. You’re the one who told me to give him a chance.

Jack: That’s before he turned you into his drug mule.

Gwen: Yes. But you can’t just write him off, jack. Look at me. Look at all the horrible things that I did to you and your family. You forgave me, didn’t you?

Jack: You are my daughter. And you have proved that you’ve changed. Xander’s the same selfish, deceitful liar he’s always been.

Gwen: That is not true.

Jack: I am baffled. Honestly, I am–how can you– how can you be sorry for an amoral, unethical deviant?

Gwen: Because I told you I know what it’s like to do something terrible because you just feel like you have no choice.

Jack: If he’d really been in that much trouble, he could’ve come to me.

Gwen: I am sure that if he felt like being honest with you was an option, he would have done that.

Jack: And he didn’T. And now he’s compounded his deceit by– by flouting the law and manipulating the justice system, and I can’t stand for that!

Gwen: You’ve already skewered him in the papers, jack. I mean, what more could you possibly do?

Jack: That story is just the beginning. There’s a lot more to the story. I know a whole hell of a lot more. Between what I write and what my staff uncovers, we might be able to get the charges against xander reinstated, and he can go to prison where he belongs.

Gwen: No. No, please. Please, don’t do that.

Jack: Why not?

Gwen: Because I don’t want you to–to–to cross paths with the dimeras. They’re ruthless.

Jack: Chad dimera is my son-in-law.

Gwen: I’m talking about ej.

Jack: I’m not afraid of him! The bottom line is xander is guilty as sin, and he needs to pay.

Gwen: No, you’re wrong, jack. He is not guilty. I am the one who’s guilty. Is now a good time for a flare-up?

Ben: Being together like this…it is even more amazing now because you’re my wife again.

Ciara: I was just thinking the exact same thing.

Ben: Yeah?

Ciara: Mm.

Ben: Well, then maybe we should just stay like this forever.

Ciara: Yeah, as tempting as that may be, I, um…I’m really excited to show you new orleans.

Ben: Yeah?

Ciara: Yeah.

Ben: When was the last time you were there?

Ciara: When I was a kid. But even then I realized how amazing of a place it was. I mean the music, the architecture, the food. Oh my god, the food!

Ben: Oh my god. Now, I want to get there. I want to get there now too. Should we start packing?

Ciara: You know, actually talking about the food made me kinda hungry. Do you mind if we make breakfast first?

Nicole: That is the second time you have threatened to fire me since you’ve been back.

Ej: Is it?

Nicole: Yeah. After I gave you unsolicited advice about johnny, you threatened to shut down this division.

Ej: My apologies. I was a little…riled up. But I’m calmer now.

Nicole: But you’re still going to fire me over this.

Ej: No, I don’t want to, nicole. You happen to be very good at what you do.

Nicole: Well, how can I be good at what I do if I work with someone who I hate?

Ej: Hatred can be a very powerful motivator. Just use it to make xander’s life a living hell. Brady and chloe will side with you. I bet you could drive him to quit by year’s end.

Nicole: Wanna bet me a million bucks?

Ej: [Laughs] Just shut up and sign the contract.

[Ej chuckles]

Kayla: Ugh. My head is still pounding.

Steve: Are you sure you’re going to be okay for the wedding? Maybe you should call in sick.

Kayla: I couldn’t do that to bonnie. Besides she’s coming over here in a little bit to get ready.

Steve: Oh, okay. Well, I better get over to the house and see if justin has any last-minute requests for his best dude.

Kayla: Okay. I’ll see you in a bit.

Steve: Yeah. Me and the famous calista.

Justin: Hey, maybe you ought to slow down a little.

Calista: Hmm. Yeah, you’re probably right. I guess I’m just trying to chase away blues.

Justin: Um…are you upset about something?

Calista: I don’t want to be a downer on your wedding day, but it is so hard to be happy for other people who are just starting their lives together when–

Justin: No, I understand. I don’t know if bonnie told you, but, uh, I lost my wife.

Calista: Oh, I’m so sorry.

Justin: Thanks. So tell me about your husband, harrison, was it?

Calista: Harrison lord. He was taken from me far too soon. Murdered for his money. The person who killed him stole every penny he had, leaving me not just a widow, but a pauper too. And the worst part is they got away with it.

Justin: I remember you mentioned that.

Calista: You’re a lawyer. Don’t you think that a criminal like that should be brought to justice?

Bonnie: I was just on my way over to kayla’s and thought I’d pop by here first.

Xander: Did you run this by justin?

Bonnie: Oh, I know he’d want you to be there. You’re his cousin. So why don’t you just hop in the shower, put on your monkey suit and be at the house by 2:00 P.M.

Xander: Bonnie–

Bonnie: Nope. Not taking no for an answer.

Xander: Honestly, I’d feel quite awkward.

Bonnie: Oh, baloney. You–you’ll be the life of the party. And I always say the more, the merrier. Right?

Xander: Fine. I’ll be there.

Bonnie: Yay! Yippee. Okay, I’ll see you–oh, I see you soon.

Gwen: I’m the one who’s guilty.

Jack: We’ve been through this before, gwen–

Gwen: No, please, jack. Please. Let me just finish. Please.

[Exhales] Xander lied. He lied when that he said he was the one delivering drugs for snyder and that brought me into the operation. He just did that to cover for me.

Jack: But he told me that snyder was his business partner.

Gwen: Yes. It’s not true. It’s not true. Those two never worked together. It was snyder and me. I was the one delivering drugs for him, and I wanted to stop, but he wouldn’t let me. And so one day I was just completely fed up.

Jack: Meaning what?

Gwen: Meaning…

[Sighs] Meaning one day, he just turned up here with a package and I said to him that he needs to go find somebody else to do his dirty work. And then we just–we’re having this big, horrible row, and then xander walks in. And xander starts defending me. He stood up for me. He’s the one who was trying to get me out of this horrible mess that I’d gotten myself into.

[Exhales] And then…snyder just dropped dead…right in front of us.

[Sighs] And then that’s when things got really complicated. So I am not an innocent victim in this. I’m the one who got xander into this whole mess. I’m so sorry. You must think I’m a terrible person.

Jack: No, gwen. I’m confused. Why would you agree to run drugs for snyder in the first place? Are you tired of clean clothes that just don’t smell clean?

Jack: Okay. I get what’s going on here. You’re upset about my editorial, and you’re trying to get me to write a retraction.

Gwen: Would you?

Jack: Absolutely not! I don’t get this 180 that you’ve done on xander. And for the longest time, the two of you couldn’t stand each other. Oh, wait.

Gwen: Wait what–what?

Jack: Julie. Julie walked in on you and xander together on the couch. You told me it was a momentary lapse of judgment. Maybe it wasn’t so momentary.

Gwen: Yes, it was. It was. But I’m not talking about that right now. It’s beside the point. But yes, yes, judy is right. Xander did lie to you. He didn’t want you to know that I was running drugs because he didn’t want you to think less of me. He was trying to protect my relationship with you. He lied so that I wouldn’t have to tell the truth.

Jack: What is the truth… gwen? Why–why would you agree to run drugs for snyder?

Gwen: He forced me to.

Jack: How? How could he do that?

Gwen: He was blackmailing me.

Jack: With what? What was he holding over you?

Calista: We are talkin’ grand larceny and murder. Well, don’t you think the rich who commits those heinous crimes should pay?

Justin: I think anyone who’s proven guilty in a court of law should pay.

Calista: Well, they didn’T. And it makes my blood boil.

Justin: Mm-hmm. I can see that. But in time, the anger, the pain will be less acute, and you’ll find yourself less immersed in, uh, stewing about the past and more hopeful about the future.

Calista: Well, I’ll drink to that.

[Both chuckle]

Justin: Ah, that’s bonnie’s makeup bag.

Calista: Mm. She gonna need that! Ha ha.

Justin: Maybe you’d like to bring it to her. You can meet kayla, her matron of honor.

Calista: [Laughs] Well, you know, I am still a little tired from my trip. And I’ve had a couple of drinks. I don’t think I should drive.

Justin: Oh, actually, that’s a–that’s a good idea. All right. Well, I’ll just take care of it myself.

[Calista giggles]

Bonnie: Oh, thank the lord.

John: Been a hectic couple days, huh? You marrying ben and ciara, our little claire bear heading off to south africa for new adventures. I tell you, doc, I am so looking forward to this labor day weekend so we can just relax.

Marlena: I am too. You know what I did? I cleared my entire schedule through tuesday.

John: Well, I hope you penciled me in for a little something.

Marlena: Mm.

John: [Chuckles]

John: Mm, I like the way you think.

[Phone rings]

[Sighs]

[Phone rings] Shane donovan. Wonder what he wants.

[Phone beeps] Hey, shane. What’s up?

Jake: Good morning.

Gabi: Morning, yourself. Oh, no, no. No you don’t, mister. Up and at ’em. Come on. It’s your first day at work.

Jake: But did I adequately thank you for showing me the ropes yesterday? I mean, that had to be the best welcoming to a new job that I’ve ever had.

Gabi: All right, but don’t expect sex on philip’s desk every day because we have things to do.

Jake: Right, like world domination.

Gabi: Exactly, so come on, get to it.

Jake: [Groans]

Gabi: [Chuckles]

Jake: [Sighs]

Gabi: Jake.

Jake: What?

Gabi: This is perfect. You made the front page. “Ousted dimera brother moves to titan.” Photo and everything.

Jake: Whoa, look at that guy. You know what? With the way my brothers tossed my ass out of the family business, I hope they’re reading this and choking on their scones.

Tony: Good morning.

Chad: You see this? About jake at titan?

Tony: Oh, that ex-mechanic, ex-hoodlum is as successful at titan as he was at dimera. We have nothing to worry about.

Chad: Believe me, I’m not worried. Want a scone?

Tony: Actually, I was supposed to meet anna in the solarium for breakfast but I haven’t been able to find her. Have you seen her?

Chad: Heard her burning rubber.

Tony: Excuse me?

Chad: Anna, she took off about 15 minutes ago like a bat out of hell.

Tony: Well, that’s strange. I wonder where she went.

[Mysterious music]

 

Anna: Oh, thank goodness you’re here, roman.

Roman: Well, good morning, but if you’re here for breakfast, we don’t open for another half hour.

Anna: No, I don’t need breakfast; I couldn’t possibly eat a bite– not when life as we know it could change forever.

Roman: “Life as we know it”?

Anna: We have an emergency on our hands, roman, and we have got to do something about it right now.

Lani: Good morning, sunshine.

Eli: You know what time it is?

Lani: I do.

Eli: Did you set my alarm last night?

Lani: I did.

Eli: Woman, you know I had a late shift last night. I don’t have to be up for a few more hours.

Lani: Wrong, ’cause you have to be up now because we have someplace to be. Auntie p’s? Breakfast? You forgot, didn’t you?

Eli: [Groans] Oh, yes.

Lani: [Laughs]

Paulina: I know what mama wants, tammy, especially since she had no problem drumming it into my head over and over again while she was here.

[Sighs] Everything’s gonna be fine, big sister. I’m back in everybody’s good graces now. And I promise you, abe will not find out that lani’s my daughter or that he’s not really the father. Because if he does, I surely will lose him and I am not going to let that happen. Well, yeah. Yeah, love you too. Talk soon.

Abe: What was that all about?

Lani: Maybe this will help.

Eli: Sleep would help. Not breakfast at the crack of dawn. You know, I vote we cancel.

Lani: And hurt auntie p’s feelings? She is so excited about this. To whip up an extra-special breakfast so we can all start the day together.

Eli: Mm.

Lani: It’s her way of making up after everything that happened.

Eli: Didn’t we already forgive her and move on?

Lani: You know my auntie. She likes to go big. She has to prove herself, prove how sorry she is, how much she loves us. And this is how she does it.

Eli: By going big.

Lani: The bigger, the better.

Eli: Oh, god. You sure there’s no way we can get out of this?

Lani: Not a chance. She and dad are counting on us.

Paulina: What was what all about?

Abe: Well, I’m sorry, but I heard you say something like, “I would surely lose him and I can’t let that happen.”

Paulina: Oh, well, I was, uh, telling my sister that I had to cancel twice with my new hairdresser here in salem. And if I have to cancel again, he’ll probably drop me as a client. Oh, speaking of canceling, I hired this trendy new chef in chicago to cook for us all this morning, but the man, he texted me about an hour ago. He sprained his ankle. He can’t make it.

Abe: Mm, that’s too bad.

Paulina: Oh, abe, I wanted our little gathering here this morning to be perfect but it looks like we’re either gonna have to postpone it or just order from some nearby diner.

Abe: No, we don’t have to do either one ’cause I happen to know that you have a seriously stocked pantry. So I think, between the two of us, we could put a fabulous brunch on the table.

Paulina: You always know how to cheer me up, abe carver.

Abe: You know, it’s seeing that smiling face of yours that cheers me up. And…this.

[Both smooch]

Paulina: Mm-hmm.

Gabi: [Scoffs] It’s all happening, jake. I mean, first we steal titan out from under philip and then we use titan to crush dimera.

Jake: Yeah, I can get behind that.

Gabi: Too bad we didn’t find anything in philip’s office yesterday.

Jake: A sammy sosa baseball card is not nothing.

Gabi: Yeah, but we can’t use that to bring him down. It’s fine, it’s only day one, and I’ve got plenty of ideas on ways I can sabotage him.

Jake: You really are relentless, aren’t you?

Gabi: When I want something, damn right I am. And I want this with a vengeance.

Jake: Hey, you and me both. All right? The way tony and ej and chad all gloated when they voted me out as ceo…

[Chuckles] I can’t wait to rip their little empire out from under them.

Gabi: They’re so arrogant. They’re so full of themselves and their–their dimera power. You know, they’re not gonna see us coming.

Tony: Hello, my darling. I was looking forward to our breakfast. Oh, you know what? Why don’t you call me when you get this message. I love you. I suppose…a little mystery is always good for a marriage.

Chad: At least your wife is in the same city.

Tony: You’ve not heard from abigail?

Chad: It’s not like I can call her. I promised her I would give her time and space to figure things out.

Tony: Oh, she’ll come back to you.

Chad: Not that I deserve it, but I sure hope she does.

[Sighs] So much for the traditional labor day picnic with thomas and charlotte. Jack asked if he wanted to– if he could take the kids for the weekend out to the lake. Eh, who am I to say no?

Tony: So you’ll be here alone, then?

Chad: Yeah, but I got plenty of work to keep me busy.

Tony: [Chuckles] Yeah, why do I get the feeling the only thing that’s gonna be on your mind is abigail?

Chad: And how I screwed up. The good news is, jack said he was gonna talk to her this weekend and he said he would talk to her about me. Find out if she’S… planning on ever coming home.

Roman: Okay, uh, but can I at least have a cup of coffee before we take on the world?

Anna: No, no. There’s no time to waste. Our daughter needs us.

Roman: Wait a minute, what– what’s wrong with carrie? Was there an accident? Is she okay?

Anna: No, nothing like that. She’s fine. Physically, at least. But emotionally, she’s a total wreck. It’s her marriage, roman. It’s flatlining. Code blue!

Roman: Come on. I just saw carrie and austin in february. Everything was fine.

Anna: Well, whatever was fine in february is kaput now.

Roman: Okay, what happened?

Anna: She called. She was totally broken up. She could hardly speak. The only thing I could get out of her was that she and austin had a terrible fight. We have to help our baby, roman. We need to get to zurich right now.

 

John: All right, I’m on it. Yeah, I’ll get back to you.

Marlena: What’s going on?

John: Shane wants black patch for a top secret case. Couldn’t go into details over the phone, but he wants steve and me in zurich as soon as possible.

Marlena: Well… there goes our weekend.

John: [Sighs]

Lani: Now that he and aunt paulina are back on track, I want to show them that we support them 100%.

Lani: And, uh, I’m kinda hungry.

[Both chuckle]

Eli: All right, well, that settles it. Let’s go to breakfast.

Lani: Let’s do it.

Abe: My goodness. You know, something smells amazing.

Paulina: [Chuckles] That’s my famous baked-egg casserole. Yeah, I need to sauté a little sausage, peppers, and onions.

Abe: Ooh, well, tell me what to do. I’ll be your sous-chef.

Paulina: You don’t look to me like anybody’s “sous” anything. You’re a man who’s used to being boss.

Abe: Well, yeah, but, you know, I’m willing to take directions for a worthy cause, and… I can’t think of anything worthier than a family breakfast with my nearest and dearest.

Paulina: [Chuckles] Well, in that case, you’re gonna need this.

[Chuckling]

Abe: Oh. [Laughs]

John: No, no, no, no, no, I understand. Just have fun at the wedding. Yeah, of course I’ll keep you in the loop, partner. Right. Love to kayla.

Marlena: Hmm. Sounds like you’ve lost your partner.

John: Steve is justin’s best man. I didn’t even realize today was the big day.

Marlena: And kayla is bonnie’s matron of honor.

John: How crazy is that? All the hell bonnie gave adrienne, steve couldn’t stand the sight of her. Now the two of ’em are standing up for the happy couple.

Marlena: Yeah. I guess they saw how happy they were and decided that’s what was important.

John: Well, just the power of love, huh? Hmm, that’s nothing you and i know anything about, is it?

[Both chuckle] I love you.

Gabi: All right, I better get dressed if we wanna beat philip to the office.

Jake: What if philip got to the office before us, huh?

Gabi: It’s your first day. You can’t be late.

Jake: Let’s call it a breakfast meeting, hmm?

Gabi: Mm, I think that you don’t have breakfast or work in mind.

Jake: Oh, what do you expect? Do you realize how hot you are when you start talking corporate takeovers, huh?

Tony: I know how difficult this must be for you. But I also know how much you love abigail and how much abigail loves you. And I have every bit of confidence that she’s gonna be back home soon, into your arms. You just have to be patient.

Chad: I am not a patient man.

Tony: You don’t have a choice in this matter.

Chad: True. It’s just that… every time I wake up and abby isn’t next to me, I wonder how I’m gonna get through the day and the next day and the day after that.

Tony: Well, I may not be as pretty, but I have been told I’m good company. So why don’t you join me for breakfast? We can have eggs benedict, smoked salmon, bellinis…

Chad: I appreciate the invite but I have, uh… I have an early meeting. Thank you for listening.

Tony: Oh, any time, brother. Oh… it will work out with you and abigail. Trust my words.

[Sighs] Anna, where are you?

Roman: [Sighs] Look, I… I am sorry that carrie’s upset, but…why, exactly, do we need to go to zurich?

Anna: Because! We are her parents. She needs us.

Roman: Did she say that?

Anna: Well, no, but I am her mother. I can read between the lines.

Roman: You know what? Look, anna, we’re not going to zurich, okay? Carrie and austin are adults. They’re level-headed. They will work this out.

Anna: And what if they don’t? I couldn’t live with myself if our baby girl’s marriage implodes because we couldn’t be bothered to get on a plane when she needs us the most.

Roman: Except she didn’t ask us to come, anna!

Anna: We’re going to have a family meeting. You can talk to austin. I will talk with carrie. We will make sure that austin knows that he is married to the most wonderful girl in the whole wide world and he better sure as hell take care of her and– why am I even blathering on like this when we should be getting on a plane? So you go pack and we can strategize on the plane.

Roman: It’s not gonna happen.

Anna: Okay, well, then– then you can buy clothes when we get there.

Roman: Yeah, that’s not what I mean. I’m not going to zurich, and neither should you.

[Tense music]

Abe: Well, I am looking at the magic right now.

Paulina: Oh, right on time. Good morning!

Eli: Morning.

Paulina: Good morning. Oh.

Lani: Good morning.

Paulina: Good morning. And good morning, my sweet little sleepy angels.

Eli: Yeah, at least someone gets to sleep.

[All chuckle]

Lani: Hi, dad.

Abe: Hey, sweetheart. Hey. Yeah, eli.

Eli: Good morning.

Abe: Hey there, sweetie.

Lani: Mmm! Auntie, is that your–

Paulina: Famous breakfast casserole? You bet it is. I wanted to make something that was worth getting out of bed for.

Abe: Oh, and this is for you. It’s just oj, ’cause I know you have to go to work later. And for you, my dear, and you. And I would like to propose a toast to second chances and new beginnings.

Lani: Cheers.

[All chuckle]

Jake: Oh, and my day was going so well.

Chad: Hey! I hear congratulations are in order. I heard about your little job over at titan.

Gabi: “Little job”?

Chad: Relatively speaking. I don’t know if you know this, but I was actually ceo over there.

Gabi: For what? About two seconds?

Chad: Sure, it was brief, but it was not like I got my ass handed to me because I couldn’t do the job.

Jake: You son of a bitch.

Gabi: Don’t give him the satisfaction, jake. It’s okay. Go ahead, make fun. But it’s a mistake to underestimate jake. He’s gonna be running titan before you know it.

[Tense music]

 

John: Well, I guess I better call good old shane back and tell him I’m flying solo on this one.

Marlena: Not necessarily.

John: What, you know something I don’t know? Steve said he can’t make it.

Marlena: I can.

John: Excuse me?

Marlena: Why don’t you take me to zurich?

[Warm music]

 

Anna: You don’t want to go to zurich? Don’t you care about our daughter’s marriage?

Roman: Of course I care, but as I’ve been saying, but it doesn’t seem to register, it’s none of our business.

Anna: She’s our daughter!

Roman: And she’s an adult, and it’s her marriage. And I doubt if she’d appreciate her parents flying halfway around the world to interfere in her life in this way– in any way!

Anna: Well, I think she would. Besides, she needs us. She needs you, roman. Your wisdom, your advice–

Roman: Anna, the only person who needs my advice is you, and here it is, okay? Do not go to zurich. Stay home. Let carrie and austin work out their problems on their own.

Anna: That is not the answer.

Roman: Yes, it is, and it’s the only one I’ve got.

Anna: Well, fine. If you won’t help me, then I guess I just have to do it myself. Oh!

Marlena: Well, I could keep you company on the flight. And I could visit with austin and carrie. You know, I haven’t seen carrie for such a long time and… I’m sure we have lots to catch up on.

John: And I’m sure she would love that, yeah.

Marlena: And without your partner, well, who knows? You might need a little help on the case.

John: You mean from…?

Marlena: Yours truly.

Lani: Oh, auntie p, it was so nice of you to have us over.

Paulina: Honey, we are going to do this more often. I mean, what better way to start the day?

Eli: What is that smell?

Lani: You can’t just tell them you’re gonna be a little late?

Eli: No, why don’t– why don’t we reschedule? I’ve got the whole labor day weekend off. You know, just pick a day, pick a time, I’ll be there.

Abe: Sounds good to me.

Paulina: Oh, ah, labor day weekend, that’s it!

Paulina: Well, instead of a different time, how about a different place? Forget about breakfast in salem. Let’s do lunch in miami!

Lani: [Laughing] What? Honestly, I thought I was getting my floors cleaned.

Paulina: Sure. Why not? I’ll charter a jet. It’ll whisk us all off by the time we finish packing.

Abe: I probably can manage it.

Paulina: Well?

Eli: Well, yeah, yeah. Yes, it sounds awesome, but I still gotta get to work.

Paulina: Well, I’m sure you can take a personal day.

Lani: Wait, what– what about the kids?

Paulina: What about them? Bring them along. The more the merrier.

[Warm music]

 

Chad: You’re right. My bad. It’s been a while since I’ve been in touch with sonny.

Gabi: ‘Cause you’re too busy feeling sorry for yourself because abigail went bye-bye.

Chad: Well, I am lonely for her, but she’ll be back.

Gabi: You sure about that? Because you not only cheated on her, but it was with her sister. So I don’t think the odds sound very great for you.

Chad: Go to hell.

Gabi: Wait, chad. Actually, um, since you haven’t spoken to him, you should know that sonny is making his company public.

Chad: That’s great news. I’m very happy for him.

Gabi: Well, you should let him know that.

Gabi: I’m pretty sure this is my business because sonny and will are currently caring for my daughter. And sonny’s crazy busy and so is will because of the newspaper, so there’s a possibility that arianna might have to come live with us since we are in a position to give her A… loving and stable home.

Chad: [Laughs] Yeah. Stability, yeah, right. That’s exactly what people think of when they think of you.

Gabi: Snipe at me all you want, but if you really care so damn much about your bff sonny, you should give him a call and congratulate him.

[Tense music]

 

Tony: Oh, there you are, darling. Where have you been? I thought we were having breakfast together.

Anna: Breakfast? Why is everyone so obsessed with breakfast? Especially at a time like this?

Tony: It’s not even noon.

Anna: Well, it’s almost the end of the day in zurich and the end of carrie and austin’s marriage.

Tony: I’m sorry, I’m– I’m not quite following.

Anna: I talked with carrie. There was a big blow-up with austin and she was in tears. She was devastated. Whatever’s happened, obviously, it’s his fault.

Tony: [Chuckles] Obviously.

Anna: And she needs the support of her parents.

Tony: Yeah, so why don’t you speak to roman?

Anna: I just did. I told him he needs to get on the next flight with me to zurich. And you know what he said?

Tony: No.

Anna: He said no.

Tony: Well, that’s what I just said.

Anna: Well, how do you know?

Tony: Oh, instinct. But I think it was exactly the right answer. I don’t think either of you should be going to zurich to fix a problem that is not your responsibility to fix. I think you should let austin and carrie work it out themselves. People everywhere living with type 2 diabetes

Anna: Why are you taking roman’s side in this, tony?

Tony: I’m not taking sides, anna. Look, I know how much you love your daughter and how much you want to help save their marriage, but what happens when you land and the problem between them was just a lover’s spat and you then discover them in each other’s arms? Or, heaven forbid, the problem continues and your presence only makes things worse? You’d never forgive yourself.

Anna: No. I would never forgive myself if I didn’t go.

Tony: Anna, darling…

Anna: No, don’T. Don’t “anna, darling” me. My daughter is in trouble and I have to pack. And you can enjoy your breakfast, your lunch, and dinner with–without me. So I have no idea when I’m coming back.

Tony: Anna, wait.

Tony: To zurich. I’ll book our flight.

John: So you want to go play spy with me in zurich?

Marlena: Well, you’ve said that I’ve been very helpful to you. I’ve helped you solve cases in the past. And you said I’m a very good detective, and you’ve also said that we’re a terrific team.

John: And that’s a fact.

Lani: It really does sound amazing. It does, auntie, but… I don’t know, the twins have never traveled before. I don’t know how they’ll do on a plane and then sleeping in a strange place. We should probably pass.

Paulina: Well, though I love the babies being along on the ride with us, well, hasn’t julie been begging for some quality time with jules and carver? Now is her chance.

Eli: Julie and doug would love this.

Lani: Yeah, they– they definitely would.

Paulina: And isn’t your maternity leave up and you have to go back to work on tuesday?

Lani: Yes.

Paulina: And the two of you, have you had any “you” time since those precious little dolls have been born?

Paulina: Well… [Chuckles] Doug and julie, they get their chance with those little babies and you get your chance for a romantic weekend, and– well, for all of us. Sunsets, late night swims…

Lani: Ah.

Eli: You know, I’m not sure my grandmother is gonna want to give jules and carver back to us when we get home.

Lani: [Sighs] Mm, I miss them already.

Eli: Yeah. It’s kinda quiet in here.

Eli: But you know what? We are going to miami! I am gonna dance you until dawn and kiss you under the moonlight. And you know what?

Eli: You get to have my undivided attention the entire time we’re there.

Lani: You do know we’re going with my auntie paulina, right?

Lani: She requires a lot of attention and I have some plans for you, myself.

Lani: It’s the first time you have ever been to my hometown. And I cannot wait to show you all the places I loved when I was a kid. Like, there’s this beach where you can go and find the most amazing shells and sea glass. And… I have this bikini that I have been waiting to wear all summer.

Eli: Really?

Lani: Mm-hmm.

Eli: Well, I can’t wait to see you in it and out.

Lani: Wow.

Paulina: I understand, sweetie. Next time, for sure. I love you too.

Abe: Chanel can’t join us?

Paulina: She’s too busy gearing up for the opening of the bakery next week. You probably should finish packing. Jet is wheels up in one hour.

Abe: Ooh, I don’t want to miss the jet.

Paulina: You’re not excited about this weekend?

Abe: I didn’t say that. But you were thinking it.

Abe: What I was thinking is that this is very extravagant and very impulsive.

Paulina: Well, I’m a very extravagant and very impulsive kind of girl.

Abe: [Chuckles] That you are.

Paulina: And I’m happy. I’m happier than I’ve ever been. You and lani, you’ve forgiven me and all I see is love and joy ahead for us.

Abe: Well, in that case, I guess it’s worth a celebration.

Paulina: Mm-hmm, and we’re gonna do it in style.

Abe: [Chuckles] Star island.Gonna show you where I grew up, with– with big mama and tammy. Show you why I love miami.

[Chuckles] And best part is I get to fall in love with it all over again because I get to see it through your eyes, and I can’t think of anything that would make me happier.

Abe: Well, if you’re gonna put it that way, I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world.

Paulina: Oh, honey.

[Smooching]

Jake: You were A… a little hard on chad, don’t you think?

Gabi: Well, he deserved it. I mean, what a pompous ass. He thinks he’s better than us and smarter than us because he and ej got dimera handed to them on a silver platter?

Jake: Right, just like philip failed his way to the top at titan ’cause he’s daddy’s darling.

Gabi: Exactly. That’s why we’re gonna win. Because we know what it means to work our tails off, to never lose sight of the prize. So no. No one–not philip kiriakis or ej or chad dimera– is gonna stop us.

Chad: Hey.

Roman: Hey.

Chad: Morning.

Roman: Good morning. Haven’t seen you in a while. How’s it going?

Chad: Ah, I’m hanging in there. I was–I was hoping that you could help me with something, actually.

Roman: If I can, sure.

Chad: Well, I wanted to take a weekend trip to phoenix and… I don’t want to impose, but have you talked to will lately?

Roman: Yeah, matter of fact, I talked to him the other day and he said that he and sonny were missing family and friends. So I think a visit from you would be just what they need.

Chad: All right, then. Then it’s a plan.

Roman: Okay, I’ll need photos, especially of arianna.

Chad: Uh, you got ’em.

Roman: Good to see you.

Chad: Hey, good to see you.

[Line trilling] Hey, sonny! Yeah, no, I know, it’s– it’s been a while. No, I’m sorry about that. Um, hey, I heard about the great news about the ipo. Yeah, and I was–I was thinking maybe I could come out and congratulate you in person. Ah, just for the weekend, if you’re not too busy. Oh, you don’t mind? Ah, yeah. No, I’m gonna have ’em fire up the dimera jet right away then. Yeah, I’ll be there in no time.

Anna: Tony, you’d really go with me?

Tony: Of course. You’re my wife, anna. What’s important to you is important to me. Besides, someone has to take care of you, ’cause the last time you were in europe without me…

Anna: Oh, please, let’s not go there.

Tony: Oh, fine, fine, but just to be on the safe side, I’m just gonna make sure you don’t get yourself into any kind of trouble.

Anna: Oh, darling, no one’s ever taken such good care of me.

Tony: [Chuckles] Oh, now I’m back in the good graces.

Anna: What are you talking about?

Tony: Well, I know you were a little upset with me because I didn’t invest in johnny’s movie. But let’s look at it this way: We have money; we have great success; uh, we have… well, freedom to travel whenever and wherever we please.

Anna: And for a very important reason.

[Both chuckle] And I have a feeling– a very strong feeling– we’re going to be very glad we did.

John: All right, doc. Next stop is zurich.

Marlena: Yes, together. As it should be.

John: As it should be.

Chloe: Just stay on your side.

Brady: Are you–are you– only if you’re sure.

Chloe: What are you doing with that blanket?

Brady: Think of it as the wall of jericho.

[Sighs] This is much nicer. Thank you.

Chloe: Sure.

[Brady sighs]

[Brady exhales deeply]

Johnny: [Sighs] Okay. Uh, she’s not answering your texts. That’s okay, buddy. You just gotta up your game. And…ah. Hey, chanel, it’s me. You know that it’s me because it’s a video of me. Hey, I’m sorry about my sister earlier causing a scene. I just wanted you to look at this face and ask yourself, do I look like a player? No. Do I look like somebody that is aggressive towards women? No, because I’m not at all. I think that women are actually the superior sex and that, you know, we would all be better off if they– if you ran the world, you know? I just think that–

Ej: Quite a performance. I take it that your date didn’t go very well. Hm?

Paulina: Honey, you’re a baker. You gotta be up in five hours.

Chanel: I know, but I’m just trying to figure out how to answer johnny’s text.

Paulina: Whose text?

Chanel: Johnny. Aka giovanni.

Paulina: Oh, right. Giovanni. [Chuckles] Damn, I like saying that. I like saying, “chanel and giovanni” even more.

[Chuckles] Perfect names for a perfect couple.

Chanel: Sorry to disappoint you, but we aren’t any kind of couple, let alone a perfect one.

Paulina: What happened?

Chanel: Allie.

Johnny: Are you jealous or something?

Allie: Don’t be dumb, okay? I’m with tripp, and chanel is my friend, and that’s it.

Johnny: I don’t know if I believe that. And deep down, I don’t think you do either.

Allie: [Sighs]

Nicole: Allie? Allie? Um…

Allie: Hi. Is something wrong with henry?

Nicole: No, no, it’s just that it’s late, and I saw your light on. Is something bothering you?

Allie: Not something. Someone.

Rafe: Good god.

Ava: Nice to see you too.

Rafe: Come on, ava. When a man comes home to find his girlfriend sitting in the dark with a suitcase, he’s not thinking it’s a surprise trip to hawaii.

Ava: No. No, I was waiting to tell you to your face. I’m moving out.

Rafe: What you have seen is that nicole and i are friends, but what you have imagined is more than that.

Ava: I’m not imagining it.

[Chuckles] I–it has been in my face for months, and I just have not wanted to see it because I care about you too much.

Rafe: I care about you too.

Ava: I know that. It’s just not enough. I don’t know when you and nicole became more than friends, but you are.

Rafe: Okay, for the last time, there is nothing going on between us.

Ava: Okay, then how come I saw her in your arms this morning?

Brady: You are not making this easy.

Chloe: Mm.

Brady: Oh.

[Light beeps]

[Sighs] What the…?

Philip: Why am i not surprised? As someone who resembles someone else…

Paulina: So giovanni is really johnny dimera?

Chanel: Yeah, his grandfather called him giovanni.

Paulina: I don’t care if he called him tweety bird. It’s the last name that counts. Dimera… as in dimera enterprises, as in the dimeras who have more money than the gdp of a small country?

Chanel: Mama, you should see the house. And they have a butler.

Paulina: They have a seat on the stock exchange. Oh, girl. [Chuckles] Oh, girl, you done good. You’ve learned from your mistakes.

Chanel: Huh?

Paulina: Mm-hmm, this time, when you set out to snag a rich man, you actually made sure that he really is rich. Not like that xavier person.

Chanel: Xander.

Paulina: Whatever.

Chanel: And I didn’t set out to snag a rich man. I didn’t even know johnny had money when I met him. I just liked him.

Paulina: [Chuckles] Well, if you like him poor, then you must be crazy about him rich. [Chuckles]

Chanel: Yeah, but he’s not. He’s on the outs with his dad. I met him too, ej dimera. Not a warm and fuzzy kind of guy. Like, he won’t give johnny any money for his movie.

Paulina: Well, so is johnny down in the dumps about that? Is that what made things hit the skids?

Chanel: No, things hit the skids because… johnny is allie’s twin brother.

Johnny: First of all, I didn’t blow the date, okay? And even if I did, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal to blow a first date. It’s nothing like blowing a marriage. How is mom, anyway? You talk to her lately?

Ej: No, no, I haven’T.

Johnny: I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.

Ej: I think I had it coming to me.

Johnny: Still, it was below the belt.

Ej: I haven’t been exactly marquis of queensbury to you. Sorry.

Johnny: I miss her too.

Ej: I know that. And I haven’t made things any easier for you since you’ve been back.

Johnny: No, no, you’ve been a real jerk, whereas I have been, well, as allie put it, “just like you.”

Ej: [Chuckles]

Johnny: It’s not a compliment.

Ej: I didn’t think it was. Are you and allie not getting along?

Johnny: [Laughs] That would be an understatement, but no.

Chloe: Philip, what the hell are you doing here?

Brady: Trying to make an ass out of himself.

Philip: You really expected me to believe engine trouble in the middle of nowhere?

Brady: I don’t give a damn what you believe or what you don’t believe, philip.

Philip: I knew he was pulling a fast one. I was just trying to get here before it was too late.

Brady: Oh, my gosh, this is adorable, chloe. I think he’s here to defend your virtue.

Philip: No. I’m here to make you pay for whatever happened here tonight. It’s laundry truths, with cat and nat.

Brady: What happened here tonight was I tried unsuccessfully to get some sleep.

Philip: Uh-huh? You were distracted by being in the same bed with chloe.

Chloe: Because there was only one room left here, and I can’t let brady sleep in a chair with his bad back.

Brady: Yeah, acupuncture, yoga, pilates, I’ve tried it all; nothing works.

Chloe: He promised to keep his hands to himself.

Philip: Then why didn’t he? You two were like a pair of spoons.

Chloe: We were not.

Brady: Eh, to be fair, you were snuggled up next to me when he walked–

Chloe: Maybe in my sleep.

[Sighs]

Philip: At least I got here in time.

Chloe: Damn it, philip. There’s nothing going on here. But instead of trusting me, you fly here in a jealous rage?

Philip: It’s not you I don’t trust; it’s him!

Paulina: Allie’s last name is horton, and you’re saying johnny dimera is her twin? With a different last name?

Chanel: They have different fathers.

Paulina: You said they were twins.

Chanel: With different fathers; it can happen.

Paulina: Well, if anything can happen, it does in salem. So how did you find all this out?

Chanel: Well, tripp thought that the four of us should do a double date, so I said, “great,” because, you know, I wanted johnny to meet allie. And that’s when I find out they were twins.

Paulina: Okay, well, then they’re twins. What’s the problem?

Chanel: Well, remember when you told johnny I had kissed a girl?

Paulina: Mm-hmm, that didn’t seem to bother him.

Chanel: No, but then he brought it up with allie and tripp.

Paulina: Yeah, but they already knew, right? So you’re into johnny. Allie’s into trip. What does it matter?

Chanel: It matters to allie. Johnny and I were back at his place, and allie came barging in, and she went off on johnny.

Paulina: About what?

Chanel: She was saying that he’s nothing but a player, and that I needed to run in the other direction.

Ej: Why would allie have a problem with you dating one of her friends?

Johnny: She said it’s because I’m a player, and she doesn’t want me to hurt chanel.

Ej: I know this is just a first impression, but chanel struck me as a young woman who could hold her own. Why would allie think that she needed her protection?

Johnny: I guess ’cause she’s jealous of us.

Ej: Why would she be jealous of her brother dating her best friend?

Johnny: [Sighs] I don’t know. Maybe because her and chanel had a thing.

Ej: A thing?

Johnny: Yeah, I mean, nothing serious. They definitely kissed, but, you know.

Ej: Are you telling me your sister’s gay?

Nicole: So you had no idea johnny was dating chanel?

Allie: No. And johnny was dating chanel the way a jackal dates a gazelle.

Nicole: Ouch, you think that way about your brother, huh?

Allie: I’ve seen him in action, nicole. All he cares about is the chase. He’s no saint, and chanel deserved to know that, so when tripp told me that johnny and chanel almost slept together, I had to go over and warn her.

Nicole: How did that go over?

Allie: Not great. Johnny got really defensive, furious that I’d ruined their romantic evening, but chanel left, so that was good.

Nicole: She just left?

Allie: Yeah, to let johnny and me have it out or whatever.

Nicole: And how did johnny feel about that?

Allie: He had the nerve to call me jealous, like, about chanel, I mean as if my feelings for her go beyond friendship, which is totally ridiculous.

Nicole: Are you sure?

Rafe: You saw nicole in my arms?

Ava: Look, after I stormed out of here this morning, I… I ran into steve, and it was a good thing because… he was really nice to me. He was helpful, surprisingly so.

Rafe: Yeah, that is surprising.

Ava: He reminded me that, um… when I care deeply for someone, that I can become paranoid and obsessed. He told me I should not do that with you.

Rafe: Didn’t see that coming.

Ava: Neither did I. But I thought about what he said. And I came back here to apologize to you. That’s when I saw you and nicole.

Rafe: [Sighs] Right.

Ava: I was upset, and I walked and walked, and I tried to clear my head, and… talked to tripp.

Rafe: About us?

Ava: No. But the entire time that I was there, I couldn’t stop thinking about us and seeing you with nicole so I decided to come home and pack up my bags. So… you can, um… you can finally be with nicole. Bye, rafe.

Rafe: Ava, ava, please–

[Mutters] You’ve got it all wrong.

[Chuckles] You got it all wrong. I was saying goodbye to nicole.

Ever notice how stiff clothes can feel rough on your skin?

Ava: Goodbye? What do–what do you mean?

Rafe: I told nicole that you and I had a fight about her, and she saw your point of view, and she said that she had been leaning on me too much ever since she lost eric, and that… that wasn’t fair to you.

Ava: She said that?

Rafe: Mm-hmm, and she said that she felt bad about causing the fight between us and she said that, you know, her and I should stay apart so that you and me– so we could, you know, get back on track.

Ava: Wow. That’s very nice of her. It’s not entirely up to her, is it?

Rafe: No.

Ava: What do you want, rafe? Or should I say who do you want? Nicole or me?

Allie: Why would I be jealous of johnny and chanel? I’m with tripp now.

Nicole: I know. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be jealous. You and chanel are close. You shared a lot.

Allie: Yeah, but–

Nicole: Honey, I’m not trying to put you on the spot. I’m just trying to tell you that I understand. I felt the same way when ava told me she was dating rafe.

Allie: Really?

Nicole: Yeah, oh, yeah, and I was really classy about it too. You know, I badmouthed her to rafe, talked about how she was a mafia princess. Not my finest moment. But then I found myself getting all possessive about rafe, and I was… I was jealous of ava being happy.

Allie: [Sighs] You think that’s why I trashed johnny?

Nicole: I don’t know, but I do know that I had to be honest with myself and about how I really felt about rafe.

Allie: I bet he was more than a friend.

Nicole: Listen, you know, I’ve been a mess since I lost eric, and I realized that I– I couldn’t make my stuff an issue for ava and rafe, so I just made the decision to step away from the situation. Look, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to make this about myself, but my point is, you need to be honest about why it bothers you so much that your brother is dating your best friend.

Johnny: No, allie’s not gay. She’s dating tripp.

Ej: Okay, and chanel?

Johnny: No, chanel is not gay either.

Ej: But you said that allie and chanel kissed.

Johnny: Yeah, yeah, they did a couple times.

Ej: So they were just experimenting.

Johnny: I guess. Uh, I mean, allie made it clear to chanel that she just wants to be friends, so…

Ej: Then she shouldn’t have a problem with you seeing chanel.

Johnny: No, no, she shouldn’t, but she does. She’s jealous whether she wants to admit it or not, and that is why she came over here tonight to deliberately make me look bad, try to tell chanel that I’m a player, scare her off.

Ej: [Sighs] Well, given the fact that she’s not here, looks like it worked.

Chanel: So allie told me that johnny’s a total player. All he’s interested in is getting a girl in bed, and then it’s all, “been nice knowing you.”

Paulina: I didn’t get vibe when I met him.

Chanel: Please, you talked to him for all of five minutes. Allie’s known him for her whole life.

Paulina: But I’ve got a sixth sense about people, and I would’ve warned you if I thought that boy was trouble.

Chanel: I know, but I can’t just ignore what allie said. She’s his twin sister.

Paulina: Well, I’d like to think that maybe she’s just looking out for you, or… you know, don’t forget, two of you, you know, you had a thing.

Chanel: Meaning?

Paulina: Meaning is she warning you to stay away from johnny to protect you, or maybe she just wants you for herself.

Philip: I warned you if you touched her, I would kill you.

[Chloe sighs]

Brady: Go ahead and try.

Chloe: Stop it, both of you! Seriously, just stop it! You, this is not funny. And you, you are so far out of line, I could kill you myself. Brady, can you please give us a moment alone?

Brady: Sure. Who needs sleep anyway?

Philip: Chloe, listen–

Chloe: No, no, you listen to me. You’ve crossed a line. Now, you may tell yourself that you’re trying to protect me, but in reality, you are demeaning me. Now, I’m not gonna let your stupid jealousy dictate how I live my life, and if you can’t get past that, then we are through. You got it? To be a thriver

Philip: I got it.

Chloe: Philip, I made a commitment to you, but you got on a plane in the middle of the night and flew to the middle of nowhere because you don’t trust that i can keep that commitment.

Philip: I don’t trust brady.

Chloe: Well, I do. Deal with it.

Philip: [Sighs] Chloe… it’s like brady, he knows how to punch all my buttons. He makes me crazy. I do stupid things sometimes. And I realize now that it makes you think that I don’t trust you, but I do, and I swear… I’ll get over it. I’ve learned my lesson. Now, let’s get out of this god forsaken place.

Chloe: And go where?

Philip: I have a working jet. I’ll take you to new york. Titan has a corporate suite.

Chloe: What about brady?

Philip: He can stay here until his plane gets repaired, meet you in new york tomorrow.

Chloe: Uh, brady and i traveled together on a business trip. I’m not leaving him.

Philip: Okay. He can come with us.

Chloe: No. You can go home, and brady and I will stay here.

Philip: You want me to leave you alone in the same bed with brady?

Chloe: Yeah. Because you trust me, right?

Rafe: What I want is for us to be honest with each other. And I realized that… I think that things between me and nicole got a little more intense than I thought, and… you know, we’re really close, and she was going through hell, and I think that… there was a time when I thought about her maybe as more than a friend. But I don’t think that it would eric not thought that god needed him on the other side of the world and left nicole for a year. I… I don’T. But I do understand how that upset you.

Ava: It’s in your dna to take care of the damsel in distress.

Rafe: Yeah, well, she’s a friend and… she’s unhappy. I was just trying to help her.

Ava: But you ended up falling for her.

Rafe: Uh, okay, okay, you know what? Okay. So maybe I had some thoughts that, um, a friend shouldn’t have for another friend, you know?

Ava: Yeah, I do. I do.

Rafe: Okay. But I never acted on them. Can you honestly standing there look into my eyes and tell me for, as long as we’re going out, however long that that is, that you would never be attracted to another man? And if you were, would you just give up on everything and throw everything away, not try and work things out?

Ava: [Sighs]

Rafe: Yeah. So listen, like I said, nicole, she felt really bad about everything that happened, and we decided that we’re gonna stay apart from each other so you and I can… so we can work things out. Unless, of course, you don’t want that.

Allie: I really thought I was protecting chanel.

Nicole: [Chuckles] You know, she doesn’t really seem like the kind of girl who needs a lot of protecting.

Allie: Yeah, you’re right. I guess I was just telling myself that. God, maybe I was jealous.

Nicole: It happens.

Allie: [Sighs] I feel like a fool. Ugh, and what is tripp gonna think? I ditched him here to go stop chanel from sleeping with johnny.

Nicole: You and tripp have been through worse things.

Allie: And chanel. She was great when I chose tripp over her. How am I gonna fix all of this?

Chanel: You think allie’s jealous of her own brother?

Paulina: I think she’s still into you. You’re fabulous, I know.

Chanel: It’s true.

Paulina: [Chuckles]

Chanel: But she had her chance with me, and she didn’t take it. She said she just wanted to be friends.

Paulina: Friends don’t tell friends who they can and cannot see.

Chanel: I know, but… I’ve had boyfriends as long as I can remember, but I’ve never had a friend like allie. Maybe I should stop seeing johnny.

Johnny: The thing is the way I would hear allie talk about chanel and chanel talk about allie before I knew who they were talking about, sounded like they’re really tight.

Ej: Apparently.

Johnny: No, I mean, like, they’re friends. Chanel trusts allie, so I think she’s gonna believe what allie said.

Ej: Prove her wrong.

Johnny: How? I mean, saying “I’m not a player” is exactly what a player would do.

Ej: Don’t talk about it, but see chanel as often as you can without coming close to making a move on her. Talk more about her than you, ask her questions about her business, what she wants to do next. Make her see that you don’t just wanna get her into bed.

Johnny: But what if she doesn’t want to see me at all.

Ej: Well, I think she’ll want to form her own opinion of you without being swayed by allie even if they are close. But you should probably go slowly with this to begin with. Give her a little breathing space.

Johnny: I can’t believe I’m talking about this with my dad.

Ej: There once was a time when we would talk about everything. I miss that.

Johnny: Yeah, me too.

Ej: Maybe that’s why to come work at dimera. Maybe if we worked together, we can have that back again.

Johnny: [Chuckles] Yeah.

Ej: What’s funny?

Johnny: I’m just trying to figure out which one of us is the player here. Advil dual action fights pain 2 ways.

Ej: What’s that supposed to mean?

Johnny: That all of your parental concern tonight was just a ploy in order to reel me in and get me to do what you want me to do.

Ej: I was not trying to reel you in. I was trying to talk to you.

Johnny: To get what you wanted.

Ej: Yes, yes, to get what I wanted. I want you to know what it really means to be a dimera. It’s not money. It’s not power. It’s family working together. It’s our connection to him.

Johnny: I’m sorry. I just don’t really think I’m the company kind of guy. I’m a filmmaker.

Ej: No, you’re not. You’re a rich kid playing with his phone. Masking movies is a pipe dream. Do you really think chanel is going to fall for a guy who has a dream and can’t make it happen?

Paulina: You want to walk away from a boy that you really like because that’s what allie would want you to do?

Chanel: I’m trying to do the right thing.

Paulina: When I met abe, I probably should have walked away from him too because of his past with tammy, but we both felt that we had something.

Chanel: You also felt he had power with the zoning board.

Paulina: Yes, you’re right. I almost screwed that up, but abey forgave me because we do have something real, and you and johnny, you can have something special too.

Chanel: Yeah, but what if it ends my friendship with allie?

Paulina: Well, if she’s really your friend, that won’t happen. You have a right to be happy, and you don’t need anyone’s permission for that. As long as you don’t step on others, never be afraid to go after what you want.

Nicole: You and tripp are gonna work this out.

Allie: But what about johnny and chanel? I mean, I don’t know how I’m gonna face either of them.

Nicole: Allie, you had a bad night. You messed up. So have they. But you have been a good friend and a great sister, and there’s no way they’re gonna wanna lose you any more than you wanna lose them.

Ava: [Sighs] Um…

[Sighs] I want to be with you… more than anything. Not if you want to be with nicole.

Rafe: Right, uh… honey, one day, I’d like to be friends with nicole again unless, of course, it makes you uncomfortable.

Ava: Rafe, I am not trying to control you. Your feelings are your feelings.

Rafe: I know. Um… that’s not–I was honest with you about nicole, and… now I want to be honest with you about you. You… you are the woman that I want to be with. Okay? I do, you know? Hopefully, we can get past what happened. Yeah?

Ava: [Chuckles]

Philip: I do trust you.

[Knocking at door]

Brady: Sorry, the 15-year-old night manager informed me that waiting in the lobby, as I was, is loitering, and she was gonna call the cops, so…

Chloe: That’s okay. Philip was just leaving.

Brady: Oh, that’s a shame ’cause I hear they got a hell of an omelet station at the breakfast buffet tomorrow.

Philip: I hope you have a productive meeting tomorrow. I can’t wait for you to come home.

Brady: Well… you wanna try this again?

Chloe: [Sighs]

[Tender music]

 

Ava: I do want to be with you.

Rafe: Okay. Okay, then you… I can’t tell you how happy that makes me.

Ava: [Chuckles] You know, it’s just that, um… I’ve never felt with any other man the way that I feel with you. And so when I knew that you wanted her, it just… it just hurt.

[Chuckles]

Rafe: Yeah. Do you know what? We can make this work. I think we can, and… every couple has its share of ups and downs, right? I mean, they have since the beginning of time. It’s just…how you deal with the downs that matters. Right?

Ava: Yeah, well, I deal with the downs by screaming and threatening to move out.

Rafe: Yeah.

[Chuckles]

Ava: [Chuckles] Can you deal with that?

Rafe: Maybe, like, half the time.

Ava: Can you take my bag up for me? I need to unpack.

Nicole: Okay, listen, you and I should get some sleep.

Allie: Yeah. Thank you for listening. And for everything you’ve done for me and henry.

Nicole: It’s my pleasure. Look, honey, you are gonna get through this. I know it. You sleep tight.

Allie: Okay.

Paulina: [Chuckles] Oh, I know I’ve been tough on you, but never doubt how much I love you.

Johnny: No, you’re wrong ’cause if there is anybody who understands what it’s like to have a dream, it’s chanel. She wanted to start her own bakery, and she didn’t let anyone or anything get in her way. So I’m gonna make my movie, and when my film opens, chanel’s gonna be right there with me.

Ej: Mm. Well, when she wants nothing to do with you, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Tripp: When I ran into her at the square.

Allie: Well, that’s a very private thing for her to tell a guy she barely knows.

Tripp: Yeah. It was definitely an overshare, but I think she was just really psyched about her date. I mean, she seems really into your brother, allie.

Chanel: Now will you believe me when I tell you I’over your sister?

Johnny: It’s a start. But I think I might need a little more convincing.

[Phone rings]

Philip: Hey, good-lookin’.

Chloe: Hey. Am I calling at a bad time?

Philip: Nope. Just having dinner at the pub. How’s the big apple? You seen parker yet?

Chloe: No, because I’m not in new york yet.

Philip: Why not? What happened?

Chloe: The dimera jet had some sort of a mechanical problem.

Philip: In flight?

Chloe: Yeah. It was really scary. The pilot had to make an emergency landing.

Philip: Are you okay?

Chloe: Yeah, I’m fine, but um, brady and I are stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Shawn: Well, tell theo I said hi… and keep calling, please. I like knowing how you’re doing. Okay. Love you, too.

Ciara: Hey. How’s claire?

Shawn: She sounds good. She’s loving her job and she’s just having fun exploring “jo-burg.”

Ciara: Good. Did she say anything about theo?

Shawn: Yeah, I mean, enough for me to know that he’s doing all right.

Ciara: Good. That’s good.

Shawn: So, what are you two doing here? What’s up?

Ciara: Well, we thought that we should tell you that we are leaving salem.

Shawn: Wait, so you’re leaving town now too? Wait, so it’s first claire and now you?

Ciara: No, no, no. Before you start getting abandonment issues, we aren’t leaving permanently.

Shawn: Okay, people who aren’t leaving permanently usually say they’re going on vacation. They don’t say “I’m leaving town.”

Ciara: Okay, I’m sorry. I’m sorry, big bro.

Shawn: Okay. You better be sorry. Come on! I was just getting used to having you back here again. So, uh, what’s the deal then? What is it?

Ben: Well, it hit us that we never actually got a real honeymoon, so we’re gonna take off for a little while.

Ciara: Mm-hmm. Just the two of us.

Philip: Where’s the middle of nowhere?

Chloe: A private airstrip near wilkes-barre. And we’re stuck here until they fix whatever is wrong with the jet.

Philip: Sounds like your basic nightmare.

Chloe: It is. I had to tell parker I won’t be seeing him tonight. And we had to reschedule our meeting with the client.

Philip: I knew this trip was a bad idea. I hope brady’s taking charge, getting you out of there as soon as possible.

Chloe: This isn’t brady’s fault. So, I just wanted to let you know that I am staying at the pocono paradise motel.

Philip: You’re at a motel?

Chloe: Well, yeah. We can’t sleep on the street.

Philip: You and brady? Are you kidding me?

Chloe: Oh, calm down. It’s just for the night, okay?

Philip: It better be. Call me when you get to new york, okay?

Chloe: I will. Good night, philip.

Philip: Take care.

[Knocking on door]

Brady: Hey.

Chloe: What happened to you?

Brady: This is officially the business trip from hell.

[Dramatic music]

 

Belle: I take it something’s wrong?

Philip: Your brother’s still after chloe. He’s not being subtle about it. This is the sound of an asthma attack…

Tripp: Look, I hope I didn’t betray a confidence telling you about chanel and johnny.

Allie: Well, chanel would’ve told me eventually. She happen to mention why they didn’t hook up?

Tripp: Well, it’s real romantic. Neither one of them had a condom.

Allie: Well, thank god for that.

Tripp: What does that mean?

Allie: Well, for one thing, chanel could get pregnant. I love henry, but he deserves to have a father.

Tripp: You don’t think your brother would step up?

Allie: No. He’s more of a love ’em and leave ’em kind of guy. Which is why I don’t think it’s a good idea that he and chanel are dating. Someone’s definitely gonna get their heart broken.

Johnny: I hope you like pb&js. Turns out it’s the cook’s night off tonight, so…

Chanel: Pb&j just happens to be my favorite sandwich.

Johnny: I knew I liked you.

Chanel: Who’s this dude?

Johnny: Uh, that is my nonno, stefano dimera.

Chanel: Nonno looks like the man you don’t mess with.

Johnny: Yeah, no, you got that right. Yeah, a lot of people were afraid of him, but, uh, he was always really great to me. He’s the one who called me giovanni.

Chanel: Ah, that reminds me. So, now that I know you also go by johnny, which of your names do you like best?

Johnny: Uh, well, you know, I’m pretty used to being called either one by now, so… I guess you can call me whatever you want. As long as you call me.

[Laughter]

Chanel: Do you pull that line out for all the girls?

Johnny: No, just the special ones.

Chanel: Boy, you are too much.

Johnny: Is that a good thing?

Chanel: We’ll see.

Philip: So, now chloe and brady are staying in a motel tonight.

Belle: And I’m missing the part where brady is trying to take chloe away from you?

Philip: You really think that plane just happened to have engine trouble?

Belle: Okay, what? You think brady booby-trapped his own plane?

Philip: No, but he could’ve paid the pilot to fake an emergency landing.

Belle: Oh, my gosh. So, what would he get out of that? I mean, he and chloe were gonna be staying overnight anyway. Now they’re just stuck in the sticks instead of manhattan.

Philip: No, in new york chloe would’ve been spending her free time with parker and her parents. Now brady has her all to himself, in the middle of nowhere.

Belle: Okay, so you honestly believe that my brother would deprive chloe of seeing her son just to get her alone?

Philip: I think brady would stoop to anything to get her back. I do not trust that guy one bit.

Chloe: Here you go.

Brady: Thank you.

Chloe: So, why are you so wet? It’s not even raining outside.

Brady: No, it’s not. You ready for this?

Chloe: Yeah.

Brady: I go to the room that I was given. Walk in, and inside that room is an elderly couple, going at it like bunnies.

Chloe: Oh, my god.

Brady: Yeah. I walked in on it and I-I-i immediately said, “I’m so sorry. I think I have the wrong room. Sorry for the mix-up.” Start to walk out. The old man wasn’t having it. He called me a pervert, screamed it. I know. And then he dumped the, you know the-the plascit– the plastic bucket of ice?

Chloe: Yeah.

Brady: Well, it turned into water at the time and it was, he doused me with it while I was walking out.

Chloe: I’m sorry.

Brady: You can laugh. No, it’s all right. Laugh. It’s funny. It’s hilarious.

Chloe: No, no. I’m sorry. I’m, I’m just visualizing a naked old man dumping a bucket of ice water on your head. I’m sorry. I really am sorry for you.

Brady: I-I, I’m sorry. Yeah, you seem sorry.

Chloe: And, you know what, I’m so grateful that that little old naked man did not hurt you.

Brady: No, that little old naked man did not hurt me physically. But that little old naked man hurt me emotionally, because I’m never going to be able to forget what I saw in there.

Chloe: Ooh, yeah, I bet. So, I’m guessing they double-booked the room?

Brady: That’s what they’re telling me. And um, they don’t have any other rooms available.

Chloe: What, this place is booked solid?

Brady: Right? But no, they’re painting. They’re painting a bunch of the other rooms. That’s what they told me.

Chloe: Oh. So, what are you gonna do?

Brady: Well, I thought I’d– I’d camp out in the parking lot, chloe. I mean, I was hoping I could stay here. Honestly.

Chloe: Uh, can I ask you something?

Brady: Yeah, sure.

Chloe: Are you telling me the truth?

Shawn: So, where are you going for your honeymoon?

Ciara: Well, ben wanted to go to the cabin.

Ben: I spent a lot of time fixing that place up.

Ciara: Mm-hmm. I know, and it looks great, baby, you did a great job.

Ben: Well, thank you.

Ciara: I know. But we literally just got back from there and it’s not necessarily honeymoon material.

Ben: I know that. You have a point.

Shawn: I mean, she really, really does.

Ciara: I really, really do.

Ben: Okay. All right. Anyway.

Ciara: Anyway. So we discussed a couple of options and we decided on a place that has a little bit more going on, a place that is very important to mom and dad.

Ben: New orleans.

Shawn: Ahh! Nice. That’s where they had their unofficial wedding.

Ciara: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. A mannequin performed their wedding.

Ben: That sounds a little weird.

Ciara: Yeah, it does to me too, but it was a really big turning point for them.

Shawn: Yeah, they had some really great years after that.

Ben: So will we.

[Light music]

 

Brady: You think I made this up? Really?

Chloe: Well, just, it sounds a little convenient. And not to be egotistical or anything, but you have been pretty open about your feelings for me, so…

Brady: Dang. Dang it. You got me. You got me. See, what I did is I paid off the pilot first to ground the plane, then I paid off the desk clerk to make sure that this place was booked. The master stroke of the whole plan was paying off the naked elderly man who threw the bucket of ice water on me. I’m kind of glad you figured the whole thing out because I was starting to run out of money actually.

Chloe: You still haven’t answered my question.

Brady: The answer is no. I did not plan any of this, and frankly I think you know me a little too well to think I would do something that underhanded. That’s actually more your boyfriend’s style. That’s philip’s–

Chloe: Don’t start in on philip. You’re not exactly a saint either.

Brady: I’m not a saint, chloe, but no. I don’t like the fact that you’re with him. I don’t like it. The fact is, I respect your decision and that’s that. But if you’re not comfortable with sharing a room with me tonight, then that’s not a problem. I’ll go sleep in the lobby. It’s not a big deal.

Chloe: No, wait, wait, wait, wait, come on. You’re–you’re not sleeping in the lobby. You can stay here tonight.

Brady: Thank you.

Chloe: But philip’s not gonna be happy about this.

Belle: You do realize you’re being paranoid, right? Nobody’s trying to take anything from you.

Philip: Aside from you taking my fries?

Belle: Well, they’re getting cold while you’re sitting here ranting about brady.

Philip: I’m not wrong about this, belle. You could help me prove it.

Belle: How?

Philip: You work for dimera, so you must know how to get in touch with the pilot.

Belle: Oh, god, I hate where this is going.

Philip: Could you just give him a call? Tell him you heard about the emergency landing. Ask him if it’s on the up and up?

Belle: Oh, would you stop? Brady is still getting over kristen. He’s not spending his time trying to win chloe back.

Philip: Found time to take her as his date to your brother’s anniversary party.

Belle: Oh, that was platonic.

Philip: And he also kissed her.

Belle: Oh. Well, so, even if he is interested in chloe, it doesn’t mean chloe’s interested in him. She picked you, philip. And you trust her, don’t you?

Philip: Call the pilot.

Chanel: Dinner was awesome. My compliments to the chef.

Johnny: Well, thank you, ma’am, we aim to please.

Chanel: So, what do we do now?

Johnny: Well, I was thinking maybe we could hit the pool?

Chanel: I don’t have a swimsuit.

Johnny: Funniest thing. Neither do I. Let’s go.

Chanel: And have your family and all those servants gawking out the windows? I’m sorry, but my mama raised me to have some class.

Johnny: Okay. Okay. Well, I don’t know if you’re gonna love my next suggestion either, then.

Chanel: Well, if it’s not strutting out naked in front of god and everybody, I’ll probably go for it.

Johnny: Well, I was thinking that maybe we could run upstairs to my room and pick up where we left off last night.

[Smooth music]

I came prepared this time.

Chanel: Sure of yourself, aren’t you?

Johnny: Well, I’m just trying to think of you. But if you’re not interested, well…

Chanel: Well, I mean, after the gourmet meal you slaved over, how could I say no?

Tripp: Well, for what it’s worth, I think johnny was just as into chanel as she was into him.

Allie: No, if johnny truly liked chanel and respected her, he wouldn’t have tried to get her into bed after one date.

Tripp: Well, my sense was that the feeling was mutual, okay, I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

Allie: No, you don’t know johnny like I do. He’s using her.

Tripp: Where are you going?

Allie: I have to have a talk with my brother.

Tripp: Now?

Allie: Yes. This can’t wait.

Tripp: Well, do you want me to come with you?

Allie: No, no. This is between johnny and me, so just make yourself comfortable. I’ll be back in a little.

Tripp: Wait, but do you really think it’s a good idea to– okay. What–what just happened?

Get ready. It’s time for

the savings event of the year.

Brady: You really think philip would have a problem with us sharing a room for just one night?

Chloe: You know he would. He hates the idea of us even going on a trip together, and now this?

Brady: I do have a dim memory of him saying something to me, uh, what was it? Oh yeah. “I’ll kill you, brady.”

Chloe: He said that?

Brady: Yeah, he did. That was his friendly warning. He was afraid that I would be inappropriate.

Chloe: Yeah, well, he would definitely think it’s inappropriate that we’re sharing a motel room.

Brady: Does he really have to know?

Chloe: You want me to lie to him?

Brady: No. You don’t lie to him. You just don’t tell him.

Chloe: Well, that’s a lie by omission.

Brady: It’s kind of venial. Okay, you just got to say a bunch of rosaries a bunch of our fathers and “I’m so sorry” and–

Chloe: Brady.

Brady: All right. Then you know, tell him, chloe. I don’t care. Watch him freak out. He’ll go nuts. I’m not afraid of him.

Chloe: How do I get myself into these messes?

Brady: Maybe the question you should ask yourself is, “why do I want to be with someone I can’t be honest with?”

Belle: You’re not thinking this through, philip.

Philip: What’s there to think about?

Belle: All right, let’s just say brady did pay off the pilot to make an emergency landing, which I still think is completely farfetched, but let’s just say he did it. The pilot is not going to admit it.

Philip: Good point. So I’ll offer him a lot of money.

Belle: Oh, okay. Well, I’m definitely not gonna help you bribe somebody.

Philip: You wouldn’t do a favor for an old friend?

Belle: Honey, you’re starting to sound a little desperate.

Philip: That’s because I am a little desperate. I feel like this is my last shot at getting things right with chloe. I can’t let her slip through my fingers again.

Belle: It’s a short trip. Two days tops, and then tomorrow chloe’s gonna be in meetings or with parker. What could happen?

Philip: You know what else was a short trip? The time chloe and brady went to dry creek, north dakota.

Belle: That was to go find chloe’s biological father.

Philip: Mm-hmm. Summer after high school. Things were going well for me and chloe. Brady interfered, stole her away from me.

Belle: Well, he didn’t set out to do that. He was just trying to help her.

Philip: Doesn’t matter. I still lost her. I’m not gonna let history repeat itself.

Belle: Well, what are you gonna do?

Philip: I’m gonna get myself to wilkes-barre, pa, before it’s too late.

Shawn: So, when are you guys heading out?

Ciara: Tonight.

Ben: We’re gonna start heading down to new orleans. Found a few places to stop along the way and camp underneath the stars.

Shawn: Ahh. Nice and romantic.

Ben: And we should actually get going.

Shawn: But hey, why don’t you guys stick around a little bit? Belle’s getting some desserts from the brady pub. Why don’t you, you stay and have a little celebratory party?

Ciara: Sure. Yeah, that sounds great, right?

Ben: Definitely.

Ciara: Yeah.

Shawn: And while we wait, I can give you your wedding present.

Ciara: Aww, big bro, you got us a present?

Shawn: Of course I did. And it just so happens, it ties in with your honeymoon location.

Autumn: Tripp.

Tripp: Autumn. What are you doing here?

Autumn: Well, I made too much food for dinner so I thought I’d use it as an excuse to come see my grandson.

Tripp: He’s not here. My dad and kayla are babysitting.

Autumn: Oh. That’s disappointing. Well, have you and allie already eaten? Because I could still heat the food up.

Tripp: Allie’s not here.

Autumn: She left you here all alone? Where’d she go?

Allie: Hold it right there, johnny demira.

Johnny: What do you think you’re doing?

Philip: [Chuckles] So I’ll bring flowers and champagne and tell her I decided to surprise her.

Belle: Oh, please, she’s gonna see right through that. And she’s also gonna see that you don’t trust her, which actually could drive her directly into brady’s arms. Is that what you want?

Philip: You know I don’T.

Belle: Okay. Then stuff your paranoid jealousy and chill out!

Chloe: I can be honest with philip about everything except you.

Brady: Why is that?

Chloe: Well, for one thing, you and I used to be married.

Brady: Hmm, and a couple months ago you said you wanted me back.

Chloe: And you so ever gently said that you weren’t interested. So, I got over you. Even when you kissed me.

Brady: When I kissed you, I wasn’t aware that you had gotten over me.

Chloe: Well, I have. And for the record, I’m still over you.

Brady: Duly noted.

Chloe: And you know, when it comes to you, with philip, it’s just– it’s a touchy subject, you know.

Brady: Chloe, philip has always been insanely jealous. It’s not on me. That’s just the way the guy is.

Chloe: And you are an expert at pushing his buttons.

Brady: Push his buttons? Like, what is, how do I do that?

Chloe: Oh, come on. There was no real reason for me to come on this trip. You only asked me to come because you knew it would upset him.

Brady: No. I asked– I asked you to come on this trip because you are a vital asset to this company.

Chloe: So you had no other agenda? Be honest.

Brady: Look, I like spending time with you. Is that wrong? I don’t think that’s wrong.

Chloe: Yes, it is wrong when I have a boyfriend. You know what? The problem here isn’t philip. The problem is you.

Tripp: Oh, that was amazing. I can’t believe rafe didn’t finish this off.

Autumn: Rafe didn’t have any of it. He called at the last minute and said that he was working late. So, tell me about allie’s twin brother?

Tripp: Yeah, he just showed up a couple of days ago and he’s already dating allie’s friend chanel.

Autumn: She set them up?

Tripp: No, they totally met on their own. Pure coincidence. Allie just found out tonight.

Autumn: And how does she feel about that?

Tripp: Not too happy.

Autumn: Why?

Tripp: She says that her brother’s a player. That’s the reason that she’s not here right now. She tore out of her to warn him to back off. She was pretty worked up.

Autumn: What’s got you so bothered about this?

Tripp: She says that she needs to stop johnny from hurting her best friend, but this friend is pretty good at taking care of herself, so part of me wonders that she’s so protective, it’s because…

Autumn: She’s jealous.

Tripp: I did not say that.

Autumn: You did not have to.

Chanel: Allie, what are you doing here?

Allie: I’m here to talk to my brother. What are you doing here?

Johnny: Oh, we had a date. Remember? We met you and tripp for drinks. Then we came back here. So whatever talk you want to have, you can just wait until tomorrow.

Allie: Oh, so you guys can go upstairs and finish what you started last night?

Johnny: How do you know about that?

Chanel: Uh, I may have overshared a little. Sorry.

Johnny: You don’t have to apologize, it’s not a problem.

Allie: Yes, it is, johnny.

Johnny: Why?

Allie: Because I don’t want you charming my friend into bed just like you do every other girl you meet. I’m telling you the truth. If you sleep with him, he’s just gonna move on to the next one.

Johnny: You don’t know anything about me!

Allie: He used to come home and brag about it to me.

Johnny: That was five years ago! We haven’t even lived in the same place since then!

Allie: Yeah, have you really changed?

Johnny: I don’t know why you’re trashing me in front of chanel, but I don’t like it. You need to go, allie.

Allie: Sorry, but I’m not going anywhere. Did you know that your toughest cleaning problems

Autumn: You told me that allie and chanel kissed once.

Tripp: Actually it was twice.

Autumn: It happened again?

Tripp: Allie admitted that she felt something for chanel.

Autumn: So, she found herself attracted to an old friend.

Tripp: It doesn’t matter, okay, she chose me instead.

Autumn: Okay, so why is she so bothered that her brother’s with chanel, hmm?

Tripp: I don’t know. And it bothers me.

Autumn: Okay. Listen to me, tripp. If an old friendship is suddenly turning into something new, face it. Do not tell yourself that it doesn’t matter and that it’s not happening. You need to talk to allie and you need to find out exactly where you stand. Otherwise, you might find yourself being the odd man out. And that’s a very lonely place to be.

Johnny: I’m not joking around. You need to go, allie. Chanel and I were just about–

Allie: Oh, I know what you were about to go do. It’s what you always do. Make a girl believe you like her, and then sleep with her, and then just toss her aside like it was nothing.

Johnny: I would never do that to her, I swear.

Allie: Oh, come on. You’re already playing games. What, calling yourself giovanni?

Johnny: You don’t even understand what that was about.

Johnny: No, because it’s none of your business. So go find tripp, live your own life, and stay the hell out of mine. Now seriously, go.

Chanel: Know what? I’m the one that’s gonna leave. I’m gonna let you two sort this out.

Johnny: Don’t do that.

Chanel: It’s getting late anyway.

Johnny: You happy now?

Ciara: Is this what I think it is?

Shawn: I found a used copy of the book of poetry that dad gave mom for her 18th birthday.

Ben: Oh, god.

Ciara: Grandpa shawn gave it to my dad right before he joined the merchant marines.

Shawn: And mom gave me my own copy when belle and i got married, but the first time. So, I just felt like it was my responsibility to carry on the tradition.

Ben: That means so much to me, man. Thank you so much, brother.

Shawn: Absolutely.

Ciara: It means a lot to me too.

Shawn: Absolutely.

Ciara: I love you.

Shawn: I put a bookmark in there, on a poem by sir walter scott, so…

Ben: The guy who wrote “ivanhoe”?

Shawn: Yeah, yeah, dad read it to mom in their unofficial wedding in new orleans and mom read it to dad at their official one in london.

Ben: Starting to feel a lot of pressure to live up to that love story.

Shawn: Our parents’ love story is definitely an incredible one. Much like yours and ciara’S.

Ciara: Yeah, I agree.

Shawn: I don’t know what– what’s taking belle so long, but listen, if you guys got to go, you just go. Got to get on the road, you can just, just cut the pie out.

Ben: We probably should get going if we want to find a good place to stop.

Ciara: Right. Right, you’re right. Shawn, thank you so much for this. You know, maybe we can give it to a kid of ours someday.

Ben: Yeah.

Ciara: Yeah.

Ben: Someday.

Shawn: Look, you two– you two have fun on your little honeymoon, okay? And like they say in the big easy, laissez les bon temps rouler.

Ben: Ah, oui oui. I don’t know, I didn’t do french.

Ciara: Well, I did, and it means “let the good times roll.”

Philip: You know the history between brady, chloe, and me.

Belle: Mm-hmm.

Philip: Thought you’d be a little more understanding.

Belle: You ever heard the– the phrase, “those who ignore the past are condemned to repeat it”?

Philip: What’s that got to do with me?

Belle: How many times in high school did I tell you that jealousy was gonna mess up your life? And here we are, more than 20 years later, and I am still trying to get that through your thick skull.

Philip: Do you know how hard it is for me to just sit back and do nothing?

Belle: Well, I remember some other things about that trip to dry creek that you just left out, like tracking chloe down there and, and paying off the sheriff to arrest brady and then lying to chloe about it?

Philip: They were gonna stay in the same room. If I hadn’t shown up–

Belle: Nothing. Nothing would’ve happened, philip. Chloe was faithful to you. You just couldn’t believe it and so, you know, you went and screwed everything up and you’re doing this all over again. Listen to me. Do yourself a favor, okay. Just finish your burger and go home. Go to sleep. Try trusting chloe for a change and just see how that works.

Philip: Okay. Okay, you got through to me. I’m not gonna do anything stupid.

Belle: Good. Well, I have a pie to deliver and shawn is waiting for me.

Philip: Thanks for talking me down. You’re a good friend.

Belle: Yes. I know.

Brady: You know, I don’t know what you’re so afraid of. Even if I wanted to come between you and philip, i wouldn’t be able to, right. It’s a lost cause because your relationship with him is solid as a rock.

Chloe: You know what? You know what’s making my blood pressure go crazy right now?

Brady: No, chloe. What is making you go crazy right now?

Chloe: I gave us a chance to be together. I opened up about my feelings for you, but no. You couldn’t do that to kristen. You made your choice. And even though I thought she was bad for you and I could make you happy, I kept my distance. I even offered to quit my job to give you some space and now, now when I have chosen to be with philip, you’re not doing the same thing and I just don’t think that’s fair.

Brady: Stop, stop. Listen, the only reason why you made the choice in the first place is because philip said if you were with brady that kristen would be a threat.

Chloe: Just stop, okay? Stop! It’s been a rotten, long night, and I don’t want to argue with you, so let’s just call it a night.

Brady: [Frustrated sigh]

Tripp: I will, I will. And thank you, again, for the amazing dinner. Rafe doesn’t know what he’s missing.

Autumn: I think he did. Oh, come here. Oh, I love you so much.

Chanel: Hi.

Tripp: So, tonight was crazy, right? Can’t believe that your new guy is allie’s brother.

Chanel: Yeah, me neither. And she’s definitely not happy about that.

Tripp: Yeah, yeah, I know. She took off after him to have it out with him.

Chanel: I was there when she showed up.

Tripp: How’d it go?

Chanel: Talk to her about that. Good night.

Johnny: Chanel left because of you, you know.

Allie: She got out just in time.

Johnny: What’s that supposed to mean?

Allie: Do you remember my friend katie, from high school? You hooked up with her and then you dumped her a week afterwards? You didn’t care what that did to her, but I saw it. She was a wreck. She– I was afraid she was going to do something to hurt herself.

Johnny: I told you, I’m not like that anymore.

Allie: Uh-huh. And that’s why you tried to get chanel into bed after what, your second date? It’s a good thing I got here before you could.

Johnny: Are you jealous or something?

Allie: Don’t be dumb, okay. I’m with tripp and chanel is my friend and that’s it.

Johnny: I don’t know if I believe that. And deep down, I don’t think you do either.

Chloe: You’re gonna need another blanket.

Brady: They don’t have another blanket. I already looked. I’ll be fine, I’ll be fine, good.

Chloe: Brady, in the past few months you’ve been shot and in a car accident.

Brady: Yeah, it’s been great, but I’m fine. I’m comfy. You can go to bed. Good night.

Chloe: Night.

Brady: Uh…sorry. You mind if I read? Suddenly I’m not sleepy. I just–

Chloe: Oh, for god sakes, just come sleep in the bed.

Brady: I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.

Philip: He is gonna try something.

[Line ringing] Hey, this is philip kiriakis. Tell me the plane is available and ready to go. Great. I’m on my way to the airfield now. Wilkes-barre, pa. I’ll know the exact location when I get there.

Belle: Uhg, sorry I’m late. I ran into philip at the pub.

Shawn: Oh, yeah? What’s new with him?

Belle: Oh, I’ll tell you after you have your pie. Hi.

Shawn: Hi.

Belle: Did I miss anything while I was gone?

Shawn: Well, ben and ciara stopped by and they just left on their honeymoon.

Belle: Aw.
