THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[ Indistinct conversations ]

[ Telephones ringing in distance ] Epiphany. Hi. Can you give me some information about a patient that was brought in last night? A certain attorney? You are not scott baldwin’s family. Oh, no, no, I’m not, but I am a very important client. I can only give information to his family. Excuse me. May I help you? Actually, I’m hoping I can be of help to one of your patients. Anna: What’s the update on scott’s condition? Uh, still disoriented. Mm. But despite parachuting out of a plane unconscious, he has no broken bones or serious injuries. Jordan: Can we see him? Yeah, ’cause the sooner that we can talk to him, the faster we can unravel this story about him literally crashing into finn’s campsite. Well, at least we know scott’s safe and sound. That’s more than I can say about my mother. These aren’t mine. Where am I? Scott?

[ Grunts ]

[ Grunts ] My schnitzel. My liesl.

[ Sighs ] Hi. Uh… is it — is it true? Did you really, um… drop from the sky? I — I don’t know. Like a nightmare, I mean, but — I’m in a hospital bed, aren’t I? I guess so. Well, scott, I’m just — I’m — I’m so grateful you’re okay. You know, I-I hope you know that. Oh, ava, ava. I didn’t think you still cared about me. Oh, scott!

[ Chuckles ] Of course I do. Of course I care. It’s been six weeks, you know, since you filed for my divorce. And I need to know if it’s gone through.

[ Scoffs ] Oh, just put it on my account. Spencer cassadine. Uh, my manager told me you’re no longer on the account with us. Thanks, dad. Lunch is on me. I guess it’s true what my grandmother said — my independence is dependent on my father’s money. Then I think that it is high time that you and your dad put aside your differences. Not after he accused me of being ava’s stalker. Well, where would he get such an outrageous idea? He stabbed me. With a fake knife. I didn’t know it was fake when I saw it. How can I ever forgive him? I don’t know. Why don’t you ask your dad? Hello? Trina, it’s josslyn’s dad. Do you have a minute? Mr. Jacks, is joss okay? Oh, no, no, no. She’s fine. She, uh — in fact, she cooked me a lovely dinner last night.

[ Chuckles ] Oh, I know. I helped her get ready. I have to say, the marinara sauce was the highlight. Didn’t you love it? I told joss it would be epic. Yeah, I thought for sure that josslyn picked it up at a specialty gourmet store, but then she told me that you were given the jar when you drove up to nixon falls to pick me up. Pretty spectacular, right? Yeah, it was pretty memorable. In fact, I’m dying to meet the person who made it.

I’ve never met the person who made the sauce. Oh, that’s too bad. All I know is that the lady who runs the roadhouse in nixon falls — I forgot the name. The — the tan-o? Yes! That’s it. She said the bartender made it. She didn’t happen to mention his name, did she? No, why? Well, I guess josslyn hasn’t really told you m-much about my work. I’m a venture capitalist, and I’m always looking for new investments. And this sauce was so good, I’m thinking about pursuing it. Well, nina reeves was friends with the nice lady who owned the bar. I’m sure she’ll know the name of the bartender. You know, I think you’re right. If anyone knows, it’s nina. Jax: Nina? Nina? What the hell? Well, thank you, trina. You’ve been a great help. Jax. Clearly, you didn’t come to cheer me up.

[ Sighs ] What’s wrong? Was this your idea? Please don’t blame esme. I appreciate you reaching out and asking me to join you both. You know, I always bought the party line at school that spence wanted nothing to do with you, but now that I’ve seen the two of you in person, I can tell just how much you care about each other. Yes, some people just have a very strange way of showing it. You know, with fake knives. Come on, spence. I know you. You give as good as you get. I don’t blame you for wanting nothing to do with me, but, son, I need you to hear this. Everything that I’ve done, even staying away all of those years — uh-uh, you mean letting me think you died.

Everything that I’ve done, I have done out of love. Local law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the campsite area where scott parachuted down. There’s no indication that your mom, or anyone else for that matter, parachuted with him. A-and why are you so interested in my mother’s whereabouts? Last I checked, you two hated each other. Yeah, well, we’ve sort of come to a bit of a truce. However, her going missing just makes me think that maybe someone else is involved. Like peter, maybe.

[ Scoffs ] Okay. Then where is she?

[ Scoffs ] Where’s the plane? I mean, god knows my mother is resourceful, but she’s not houdini. She can’t just vanish into thin air. What is this place? What am I doing here? Oh! Clearly, the pilot needs assistance. No, come with me. Come sit back down and buckle up, for crying out loud! Okay, do you need help with this? No, liebchen. I need to survive this. I can’t die now. I have to help nina.

Mein gott, I have to find scott.

[ Grunts ] Open this door! You can’t do this to me! I’m liesl obrecht, damn it! Open the door!

[ Monitor beeping ] Look, scott — scotty, I’m not trying to be insensitive here, I’m not. I-I know you’ve had a stressful time of it. Although from what I hear, skydiving is really quite wonderful, right? It can be very exhilarating. That’s what they say. The bum’s rush out the door? I don’t think so. The point is, you survived, didn’t you? Meanwhile, my stalker is still out there, waiting to strike at me or — or my loved ones. Now, you told me that my divorce would take at least six weeks to go through. Now, isn’t there anybody you can call to nudge it along?

[ Sighs ] Well… ava, what are you doing here? Well, I was just, uh, visiting my very good friend a-and my attorney. Lives may depend on it. Anna: Yeah. Isn’t that right, scott? I’m not sure you badgering scott is really gonna be conducive to his recovery. Ava, let’s go. I’m counting on you, scott. Don’t you let me down. You just relax, okay? Epiphany: Uh, dr. Westbourne? Uh, whatever it is, epiphany, it can wait. I thought you would want to know that there’s someone else asking about mr. Baldwin. This is wyatt hoover. Pc pioneer second class. I’m a volunteer ranger’s aid. I was on duty last night when mr. Baldwin landed in the campground, or I guess I should say, he crashed. Yeah, “crashed” would be more accurate. What can I do for you, wyatt? I was cleaning up the debris from the fall when I found this. I thought it might belong to mr. Baldwin, and I wanted to return it. May I? It’s you. Yes. This locket belongs to my mother.

So tell me, what’s going on? Okay. I, uh… I made two pretty big decisions this year, and I thought I was 100% correct, and, um, but it turns out that they, um — they both — they kind of blew up in my face. Yeah, but that’s old news. This isn’t like you to rehash the past. You know me well. And you’re right. This isn’t about the past. This is, um… you see, I have another big decision to make, and I’m on the brink of doing something that I think is right, but what if I’m wrong again? It never gets old, you know. Hello, ava! And what never gets old? The love of art never gets old. Well, I hope not, considering I want a career in it. I was just thinking about the young high-school kid who showed up here wanting to be an intern. And you arrived with such a natural love of art, a desire to learn all you could. I still can’t believe my internship turned into a job. You’ve been such a mentor to me. Wait, that doesn’t even sound right. I hope you know that when I think about you, yes, you’re my boss and yes, you’re my mentor, but I also consider you to be my friend. Oh, trina. Did I say something wrong? No, I’M… I’m so honored to be your friend. And you’ve been something more than that to me. You’ve been like another daughter to me. And not that I want to step on your mother’s toes, or not that I would ever ask you to take kiki’s place… I don’t use this word often or lightly, but, trina, I… I cherish you. And that’s why I know it’s gonna be so difficult for me to say goodbye. You loved me so much that you wanted me to believe you were dead. When you were the only parent I had because my mom passed away before I even knew her. That’s the kind of self-serving garbage you expect me to believe? Spence, your dad’s here. Let him explain his point of view. Look, I know sometimes my methods are wrong. Okay, they’re often wrong. But you have to remember that valentin shot me with every intention of killing me. And knowing how the cassadine family operates, I couldn’t take that chance of you being targeted next. And so I laid low while I planned my return and my revenge. Spence, why’d you leave out so many details? I find this to all be fascinating stuff. Because valentin hasn’t been a threat in years. And quite frankly, he’s not even a real cassadine. Or are you insinuating that ava’s stalker isn’t the only threat out there? There has to be a knife. Or a bobby pin.

[ Grunts ] Anything to pick that lock. About time. I demand to know what’s going on. Good evening,

fraulein doktor. What’s this? Dinner, compliments of your host. Oh, how kind.

[ Sniffs ] And thoughtful. Open that door or I’ll gut you like a mackerel!

[ Grunts ] That is a very fine glass of

gewurztraminer. Your host has thought of everything.

[ Monitor beeping ] Scott, you have a visitor. Oh, a pc pioneer. I used to be one myself. I still buy christmas trees from you guys. Thank you, mr. Baldwin. On behalf of the pc pioneers, we’re grateful for your annual support. Yeah, I understand that — from dr. Finn, that y-you were there and — and you helped out when I-I-I hit the ground? I was able to get you out of the parachute. I have my honor badge in knots. Oh, well, that’s — that — that’s — that’s something. Thanks for coming in and checking on me. I did want to check on you, but I was also hoping to return something. I found it when I was cleaning up the crash site. Scott, this locket belongs to my mother. Do you recognize it? I do. When everything started to go haywire on the plane, she gave it to me and I stuck it in my pocket. Okay. [ Sighs ] I was hoping that maybe she made it out of the plane after all and dropped it during her own parachute jump. If I’d observed any other parachutes, I would have notified the authorities. There was only mr. Baldwin. Thanks, wyatt. Thank you for bringing this by. My mother will be very gratefulto have it back. Jordan: I confirmed that a private plane departed from port charles yesterday. It had two chartered guests — liesl obrecht and scott baldwin. Their destination was the island of st. Lucia in the caribbean. Right. I knew that obrecht was going on a medical conference there, but a private plane? Scott? I mean, I understand taking advantage of the low season rates at a resort, but why didn’t they fly commercial? It’s another question that needs answering. Though britt touched on the biggest mystery — what happened to the plane? What did the faa say? Just that the plane fell off the radar shortly after takeoff. There was no mayday call, no transponder signal, no evidence of a crash. I mean, the plane could be anywhere between here and st. Lucia. Or it could mean something else altogether.

mistake was helpingnina get visitation to wiley. What did you do?

[ Sighs ] Okay. I was on my way to the quartermaine gatehouse to talk to michael, ’cause, you know, he was my stepson and we have a pretty good relationship — well, we had a pretty good relationship — and I accidentally saw michael and — and willow, um, together. Together, together? Yes. Yes, together, together. Isn’t she married to chase? Yeah, which is a moot point now anyway, because she’s annulling the marriage to chase, but at the time, I-I used it as leverage to secure nina’s visitation to wiley. You blackmailed michael? No, I didn’t — I didn’t see it — like I said, I used it more as a leverage thing. I don’t — I re– honestly, I don’t know if we’ll ever get our friendship back. What’s your other mistake? Oh, yes. Yes. The other mistake. Um, when I found out that — that carly was taking over sonny’s family business, of course, josslyn was my first priority — her safety. That’s an understandable goal. What did you do? I secretly recorded carly in a conversation and tried to get her to incriminate herself.

[ Laughs ] I know. It’s just — go ahead, please. Let me have it. I’m not in any position to judge. I’m really not. Okay, so you told me your first mistake, your second mistake, and how they both blew up in your face, and now you’re gonna make another move that is also gonna blow up in your face. What’s going on? I — I don’t have all the details yet, and I’m still trying to connect all the dots, but if I’m right, a very good friend of mine who I care very deeply about is, um, probably making a huge mistake that could affect many other lives. You’re leaving port charles?! It breaks my heart. But I have no other choice. My mother taught me there is always more than one choice. Well, it’s my only good choice! Keeping avery safe is my number-one priority. I understand that, but didn’t you file for divorce? Isn’t that enough to satisfy whoever has been stalking you? No. It doesn’t seem to be, no. The only way I can protect avery is to stay away from nikolas, and that means leaving port charles, which means I have to sell charlie’s and give up everything that ties me here. Everything?! Well, except — except the gallery. I’m not selling the gallery. I-I’ve hired a manager and made it clear that you have a job here for as long as you want one. Ava, I don’t think you’re listening to me. It’s not about the job. It’s about our friendship. I need you. I have no reason to believe that another cassadine is plotting something, but given our family’s history, it is always wise to look both ways before crossing the street. He’s trying, spence. Can’t you give him that? What I see is someone who wants it both ways — the freedom to do whatever he likes in the moment, and then the ability to justify it afterwards. Nikolas cassadine, ladies and gentlemen. Am I the only one? Be honest, spencer. Haven’t you ever done this same thing? Believed that the ends justify the — no, I thought we were talking about you and your mistakes. We are. But I am not gonna lose my son. I have already lost ava. Oh, there it is.

[ Laughs ] See how it always comes back to ava? You want her so bad? You can have her. You just won’t have me. I got along without you for years. I’ll do it again. I better go after him. No, let me. Spence, wait. Do not defend him. I don’t have to. You’re making his case for him. There’s nothing that would make me feel better but seeing your mother. You really care about her, don’t you? It’s not just some random hookup. No, not at — not at all. You know, when we were together and we were grieving over franco, and then things changed, and we were up in that jet and we hit all that turbulence, and, you know, we thought it was curtains, but we were together, see? So, I mean, I-I think that we were ready for the worst if that was to happen. You know? But — but it didn’T. No. Somehow, you survived, and we have to believe that my mother did, too. Yeah. I really need her. She needs you, too. And even more incredible… I have realized that i need her, too. Hmm. Hey, scott. Do you think you could tell us the truth about what really happened on that plane? Why are you assuming scott’s keeping something from you? Certain things aren’t adding up. Yeah. Wait a minute here. Don’t blame me. Last thing I remember, I-I was putting on my oxygen mask and then when I-I came to, I had dropped into finn and elizabeth’s campsite, literally. But why spend all that money on a private plane? W-well, I-I was targeted by one of those, you know, low-budget jet companies. I think I was scammed. Yeah. Yeah. Too good to be true. Uh-huh. And why were you headed for st. Lucia? Well, that’s where the conference was. You think I don’t know who’s behind this? Who resorted to hijacking to keep me from giving him the justice he deserves?!

[ Grunts ]

[ Lock clicks ] Tell peter august I’m not going to swallow his food, which has obviously been poisoned. If he wants to kill me, he’s going to have to find the courage to do it with his own two hands.

[ Grunts ]

[ Sighs ]

[ Gasps ] No. It can’t be. Victor cassadine? Hello, liesl. As mark twain once said, reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

, What are you gonna doand who are you gonna do it to? Like I said, I don’t have all the details yet, and I am not willing to name names. Not to worry. I’ve already heard enough to know why you’ve come here to talk to me. Really? Because I don’t even know yet. Because you’re gun-shy. For the last year, you followed your gut two times and it’s blown up in your face. So now you just want to hear your theory out loud. You want to voice the question — “should I cross the line again?” Hmm. Well, if my gut feeling is right, someone else has crossed the line, and I would be trying to pull them back. But if I take that step, you see, I will set things in motion, and it might not stop until…

[ Sighs ] Someone gets hurt? Are we talking physically or emotionally? Well, considering the people involved, I would say both. Okay, okay. So you’ve come to me for advice. Yes. Let me think for a second. No. Walk away. That’s it. What? A-and leave the person I-I care about all alone? How do you know they’re alone? Maybe they went to somebody else for help. Maybe they put their trust in somebody else. You know what? That — that is a distinct possibility. Damn right. I mean, let somebody else do the heavy lifting, right? From one fixer to another… yeah? …Butt out. You don’t have to save everybody. And from the looks of things, if you try, you’re gonna get yourself really burned. This is about spencer, isn’t it? Well, w-what — what’s going on? I thought the two of you were clicking. I thought so, too. That was until the night of the party, when esme showed up. Who’s esme? His girlfriend from boarding school. Oh, no. Oh, I’m so sorry. They’re a lot alike — worldly, sophisticated. Hey, well, so are you. You happen to work in an art gallery. That doesn’t matter. Spencer was a wreck the night of his party, then esme shows up, and all of a sudden, he pulls it together. Or maybe he was covering. What his dad did to him was so messed up. I know. I tried to warn nikolas about it. I just hope the two of them can mend fences after I’m gone. What about avery? Well, I told you, I’m doing this for avery, you know? I cannot let anything happen to her, and I’m frightened, especially now that the stalker threw kiki in my face. Trina… don’t give up on spencer. I thought he liked me. Oh, I’m sure he does. How could he not? And yeah, it’s really poor form for him to flirt with you and not tell you he has a girlfriend. Then how could he do this to me? Oh, but he’s a teenage boy. Teenage boys are not known for their maturity or discretion. But I think he needs a friend like you. I think he needs you more than he knows. I know this isn’t what you want to hear, but you’re guilty of the same double standard you resent in your father. Or are you declaring your freedom from him while still expecting him to pay for everything? The price of being nikolas cassadine’s son is too high. Oh, really? I wasn’t aware you were fielding other offers. Ava’s out of the house and maybe out of his life for good. Wasn’t that the goal? Look, my advice? Figure it out with your dad or get used to the guest room at your grandmother’s, knowing dr. Collins will be keeping his expert eyes on you. I see your point. Are those really my only options? No. Go get a job and rent a room somewhere. But then where do I fit in? Right. Because our original plan included me living on an estate on a private island. And not that I don’t care about you regardless, but let’s be honest — we’re both high-maintenance and wyndemere is our best option. This makes no sense. You’re supposed to be dead. You burned to a crisp in the fire at crichton-clark. Hmm. Not to mention,

you shot me. Hmm. I was thinking about my son. I still can’t believe you thought killing me and letting faison live was the lesser of the two evils. It was at the time. And how did that work out for you, liesl? I’m truly, truly sorry for your loss. The good, like nathan, always die young. While the rest of us survive, whatever it takes. I don’t care how you managed to escape death. I only care that scott is still breathing. What have you done with him? Mr. Baldwin, uh… took a leap of faith, so to speak.

Gott in himmel, you didn’T…?

[ Chuckles ] Oh, don’t worry. Yes, he was thrown from the plane, but also, yes, he was wearing a parachute. Do you really think I’d be so cruel to someone you care about? In a heartbeat. That is, if you actually had a heart. My heart is beating right now. For you. Can’t you hear it? Liesl was, uh, going to this conference for huntington’s disease and some other inherited diseases. I-I was just tagging along, you know — a little scuba diving, some island time. Who else was on the plane? Uh, well, there was two pilots and there was, uh… a flight attendant. Okay. And shortly after takeoff, you hit some turbulence? Yeah. You know, liesl thought something might be wrong with the pilot, so she started to head to the cockpit and I said, “no, no, no. No, we need to go back to our seats and buckle up.” Then the oxygen masks dropped down, and so we put them on and we started gulping up some — some oxygen. And next thing I remember, I’m on the ground. Now, we were about, psh, 3,000 miles away from the devil’s triangle. Could the plane have been hijacked? Mm-hmm. It’s possible. But by whom? Do you need help with this? No, liebchen. I need to survive this. I can’t die now. I have to help nina. Anna: Scott? What is it? Do you know who could have done this? I’ve got his blood test results. Thank you, epiphany. Britt, what is it?

so, what do you think? Well, I’m thinking that my last two interventions were a complete disaster, so third time’s the charm? I wouldn’t be incarcerated if I didn’t try to take the law into my own hands, but I was drunk, so I could blame it on the booze. If you do something and it blows up in your face, you’ll have no one to blame but yourself. You won’t be able to live with yourself. And if I do nothing, will I be able to live with myself? Look, in either scenario, a lot of people are gonna be affected. I know. Visiting time is over. Well, thanks for listening and your advice. I’ll see you later. Okay. Jax? I think you already made your decision before you came here. Good luck. Thanks. Thanks for the talk, but I should be getting back to work. Oh, no, no, no, no. No, I want you to take the rest of the day off. Go and — and find spencer and stake your claim. Stake my claim? He’s not my property. Well, he’s not what’s-her-name’s, either. She may have a history with spencer, but so do you. Trina: I’m sorry. I just don’t know what to believe about you anymore. I get it. I do. And I’m really sorry. And if you want to tell ava and cam and joss that I pretended to be some guy named victor, I’ll understand. But you don’t want me to, do you? You want me to trust you. Trina, what’s wrong? Nothing. Just promise me you won’t leave before saying goodbye. Never. Now, go and find spencer. Okay. Hmm. Look who I convinced to come back to the table. Although it pains me to say it, you were right, father. I’m the last person who should be throwing stones. In case you’re rusty on spencer-speak, that’s his way of saying he wants to put things back together. Not the way it was, though. Better. I want — I want that, too. I’m so very grateful, esme, that you were able to bring us back together. If spence is happy, I’m happy. I hope this marks a new day in the annals of cassadine history, when all of the family ghosts are left where they belong — in the past. What do you want from me? The same as I’ve always wanted — your companionship. Not you. You’ve always had an agenda within another agenda. Oh, isn’t it enough that I saw you getting close to another man? You’ve had me under surveillance? As you rise from the ashes again and again. But when you turned to mr. Baldwin, that attachment seemed distressingly real. It is real. And if you hurt one hair on his head — let him go, liesl. I managed to heal myself from the physical wounds you inflicted, but I — I don’t think I could bear the emotional scar of losing you to another man. Deal with it.

[ Chuckles ] Never. And the sooner you accept that, the — the better off you’ll be. What does my blood work say? The test results indicate that there were trace amounts of trichloromethane in your bloodstream. Could you say that in english? Chloroform. Oh. Scott, you said the last thing you remember was putting on your oxygen mask. Yeah. What about it? Well, what if you weren’t breathing oxygen? What if you were being drugged to pass out so they could strap a parachute to you without you knowing who was responsible? But who’s “they” and what do they want? Yeah. W-w-why do they want liesl? Listen, I-I know my mom has no shortage of enemies, but why go to all that trouble?

[ Cellphone chimes ] Hang on. Anna, what is it? It’s a message from the wsb. Wait. Did they find her? I-is she okay? We seem to be dealing with a master magician here, because not only has an airplane and a person disappeared by sleight of hand, but there’s something else. Who else is missing? No, it’s not who. It’s what.

what was the name of the convention that liesl was attending in st. Lucia? Some convention for inherited diseases. At the hotel san souci, correct? What’s the point of this?! How is this helping us find liesl? Well, the conference never happened. And the organization that was supposed to be hosting it doesn’t exist. What? Try to enjoy your accommodations. I think you’ll find I have anticipated your every need. A gilded cage is still a cage! I will find a way to escape to be with scott. Nikolas: What do you guys want? You want tiramisu? Anything. Spencer: Tiramisu, yeah. That sounds nice. That sounds good.

[ Laughter ] Oh, I was not expecting to see this. Well, it seems esme has a future in negotiating peace treaties. Thanks to her, spencer and I have taken the first steps toward reconciliation. I am reinstating my son’s account. He’s good for it. Yes, mr. Cassadine. Trina, you look upset. I just left the gallery. Ava said the stalker won. She’s leaving town. Hmm. That is sad. But, I mean, it’s understandable if she’s doing it to protect her daughter. I mean, she wouldn’t want the same thing to happen to avery that happened to lauren. Who’s lauren? You mean kiki? Jax? Jax: Hey. What brings you here? I need to talk to you about nina.
