Adam: Hi.

Sally: Hi. I’m not sure why you came over here, but I really do not want a replay of our last encounter.

Adam: Oh, it’s not going to happen. I promise. This time I’m completely sober.

Sally: Well, that’s good to know.

Adam: Did you have a good thanksgiving? Or was it 4th of july that you celebrated? I know you don’t like to celebrate holidays on their actual day.

Sally: Actually, that was our tradition. So, I celebrated in my own traditional way with takeout and an old movie. What about you? Did you break bread with victor at the ranch, or were you nursing your hangover?

Adam: Ouch. I guess I deserve that. I actually had a quiet meal with chelsea and connor.

Sally: Sounds nice.

Adam: It was.

Sally: I-I really should get back to whatever I was doing. So…

Adam: Can I join you for a minute?

Sally: I am actually expecting someone.

Adam: You’re waiting for nick. In that case, I’ll keep it short. I just — I wanted to apologize. I had no business coming to your suite the other night and confronting you like that. Anger and heartache and booze are a dangerous combination. Can you forgive me?

Nick: You wanted to see me?

Victoria: Yes. So, nate and I, we had a conversation about the career advice that you offered him.

Nick: Okay.

Victoria: You told him to watch his back because you don’t trust him.

Nick: That’s an oversimplification.

Victoria: In what way?

Nick: I think you are misreading the tone and the intent with which the advice was offered.

Victoria: I’m not going to get into semantics with you. You had no right to undermine my new ceo that way.

Elena: Hey.

Nate: Hey. You look fantastic.

Elena: Thank you.

Nate: Where are you off to?

Elena: I have a meeting with lily to talk about the details of my medical podcast.

Nate: Ahh. I’m sure you’re going to kill it.

Elena: I have to admit I am a little nervous.

Nate: Nervous? You’re a pro, and you already have the job. What is there to be nervous about?

Elena: Don’t take this the wrong way, but I am wondering if there’s any residual resentments with lily because of how she feels about you.

Nate: They’re definitely still angry at me. Devon could barely make eye contact with me when we saw him at society on thanksgiving. But I don’t see my family taking any of this out on you. You’re the one who convinced me to come clean. They should be thanking you.

Elena: Well, I’m certainly not expecting that. And I am not so sure that things are good between us. I’ve picked up on some judgment from devon the last few times I ran into him. I guess I’m just guilty by association to your cousins.

Nate: Well, in that case, I have the perfect solution. Come back to newman media. Do your podcast with us.

Lily: Hi.

Billy: Looks like we both need a little jolt after our disagreement earlier.

Lily: Yeah, well, you accused me of having a savior complex.

Billy: After you accused me of having one.

Lily: I still think that my take was more correct, because, I mean, here you are, checking up on chelsea again. Are you worried that chloe is going to take your place as her go-to confidant?

Billy: Actually, no. I’m just grabbing a coffee. I have not talked to chelsea. Lily, wait, please. I want to fix things between us. Can we talk?

Billy: I’m not trying to be harsh, but you’re overstepping.

Chloe: You call me controlling? You’re impossible. Things can’t go on this way.

Adam: This isn’t just a mood. Something is seriously wrong.

Chelsea: Stop!

[ Gasps ] Let’s dive in! and I’m going to tell you about exciting medicare advantage plans that can provide broad coverage and still may save you money on monthly premiums and prescription drugs. With original medicare you are covered for hospital stays and doctor office visits but you have to meet a deductible for each, and then you’re still responsible for 20% of the cost. Next, let’s look at a medicare supplement plan. As you can see, they cover the same things as original medicare, and they also cover your medicare deductibles and coinsurance. But they often have higher monthly premiums and no prescription drug coverage. Now, let’s take a look at humana’s medicare advantage plans. With a humana medicare advantage plan, hospitals stays, doctor office visits and your original medicare deductibles are covered. And, of course, most humana medicare advantage plans include prescription drug coverage. With no copays or deductibles on tier 1 prescriptions, and zero dollars for routine vaccines, including shingles, at in-network retail pharmacies. In fact, in 2021, humana medicare advantage prescription drug plan members saved an estimated $9,600 on average on their prescription costs. Most humana medicare advantage plans have coverage for vision and hearing. And dental coverage that includes two free cleanings a year, plus dentures, crowns, fillings and more! Most humana medicare advantage plans include a silver sneakers fitness program at no extra cost. You get all of this for as low as a zero-dollar monthly plan premium in many areas; and your doctor and hospital may already be a part of humana’s large network. There is no obligation, so call the number on your screen right now to see if your doctor is in our network; to find out if you could save on your prescriptions, and to get our free decision guide. Humana, a more human way to healthcare.

Billy: I feel really bad about our argument, and I feel terrible about the way it escalated. I really don’t like that my connection to chelsea and me helping her through this illness right now is causing tension between us.

Lily: Billy, I hate it, too. I do, because I actually care about chelsea, and I support your involvement with her. And that’s why it really hurt me. And, frankly, it crossed a line when you called me petty for having concerns about your over-involvement. I mean, do you really see me as that small-minded?

Billy: No. I don’T. And I’m really — I apologize for saying that. That wasn’t right. I know how big of a heart you have.

Lily: I mean, this is not easy to navigate. And I feel like any time I question your actions when it comes to chelsea, I get accused of not understanding the situation, when you’re the one who’s kept me on the outside. I didn’t even know what was going on. And look — I get why. But then, even when chelsea tells you to let me in, you still keep me at a distance.

Billy: That wasn’t my intention.

Lily: Look — this is not easy for me to admit, but I just feel like chelsea is the one who’s making you feel special these days. Like she’s the one who occupies your thoughts, and that used to be my role.

Billy: You are the most important person in my world, and I love you so much.

Lily: I love you, too, but I —

Billy: And I’m sorry. I’m really, really sorry that i have not showed you that enough lately. And I promise, once I get chelsea through this crisis, you will have my undivided attention, and we can get back to us.

Elena: I appreciate you wanting your new company to be the home of my podcast, but it took quite a bit of convincing to get me out of my contract with newman media.

Nate: I remember because I’m the one who did the convincing. The whole reason for you coming to chancellor-winters in the first place was so that we could work together.

Elena: And to also help cover your gaffe of overpromising with your podcast content.

Nate: Fair enough, but the point is this project has meant a lot to both of us. From the early days of “askmdnow,” it’s something we’ve both been passionate about. Our goal has always been to bring accurate medical information to the public in an entertaining and educational format. What I can promise is if you come to newman is that your passion will be rewarded in a way it won’t be at chancellor-winters.

Elena: I already made a commitment to devon and lily, and I’m not the kind of person who goes back on my word. And, besides, if I were to follow you to newman media after everything you’ve been through with your cousins, it would be like adding salt to the wound. And if I’m being honest, I feel a sense of loyalty to devon and lily.

Nate: What about your sense of loyalty to me?

Victoria: I made a call on hiring nate. If you had an issue with it, you should have — you should have said something.

Nick: What are you talking about? I had several issues with it, and I conveyed each and every one of them to you. Are you choosing to not remember that?

Victoria: Okay, why don’t i rephrase? Once the decision was made, as coo of this company, I would have hoped that you would have supported it, or at least kept an open mind about it, at the very least kept your concerns to yourself or limited it to a conversation between the two of us.

Nick: Why? I had every right to let nate know, as a colleague and a friend, he’s got a long ways to go before I ever trust him again, if I ever do. I’m calling things like I see them — with him, with you, and this company. And I’m telling you, you need to be very, very careful. With the way nate tried to help you gain control of chancellor-winters, he showed me a side of him that I never thought existed, and I highly doubt it’s a one-time thing. You tell me. What’s going to happen when nate decides he wants more power around here than you’re willing to give him?

Sally: Thank you for your apology, but I am not sure that I can completely forgive or forget the other night or everything leading up to it.

Adam: Well, that is, um, disappointing. But I guess it’s understandable.

Sally: Well, I hope your quiet thanksgiving gave you a chance to reflect and understand why we are no longer together, so that we can finally put everything negative behind us and figure out a way to move on from here.

Adam: Yes, I have done a lot of thinking, and I realize that my behavior was excessive, and I deeply regret that. And I also regret suggesting that nick doesn’t have feelings for you. I’m sure — I’m sure he does. You know, how could he not? You’re brilliant, you’re open-hearted, and you’re beautiful. So, I never should have suggested that he was just —

Sally: That nick was just looking for a replacement for sharon, or that he’s just in it for the sex, or that he and i are just using each other to get back at you, because you said all those things.

Adam: I’m sorry. It was stupid. It was hurtful.

Sally: Or do you still think they’re true?

Adam: It doesn’t matter whether I think it’s true or not, sally, because the reason that we should be together actually has nothing to do with nick or whether the two of you can make it as a couple. I don’t know. Maybe, maybe you could. But you would never have what you really want… what we have — a deep understanding and appreciation for each other, flaws and all. And just so we’re clear, my proposal? I’m not apologizing for that. That still stands. I do want to marry you because we belong together. And nothing is going to change my mind about that. A mystery!

Victoria: You know, you’re looking at this all the wrong way. You see nate’s offer to help with chancellor-winters as a weakness. And I see this aspect of his personality — I see it as a strength.

Nick: I just can’t wait to hear how you spin this.

Victoria: Oh, when you hire people that want your job, you’re guaranteed they’ll work hard.

Nick: You’re not threatened by that?

Victoria: Why should I be?

Nick: I got to say I’m impressed, vic. You seem to have the same uber-confidence that dad has.

Victoria: Well, I learned from the best, didn’t I? You know, he often surrounded himself with ruthless adversaries. He valued unabashed ambition in his leadership team.

Nick: Because dad thinks it’s a game. But it’s a very dangerous game.

Victoria: It would get a little boring without some danger, don’t you think? I’m not afraid of taking a risk. And I’m willing to take one with nate. And I’m just asking you to please give him the benefit of the doubt. As my coo, I expect you to back me.

Nick: You said the same thing to me about sally. Remember how that turned out.

Victoria: Well, I see that my decision to replace her has still become a sticking point with you.

Nick: Because what you did to her was unfair.

Victoria: Just exactly how serious have things become between the two of you, anyway?

Nick: What does it matter? She’s no longer at newman. It doesn’t concern you.

Victoria: I care because i don’t want to see my brother get hurt.

Sally: Why are you doing this?

Adam: Because I love you. And you love me, too, sally. You are the only woman that I have ever met who truly understands me and accepts me for who I am.

Sally: Can you just stop saying that, okay? Because whatever I thought I understood about you turned out to be wrong. I did not fully know you back then. Everyone who has warned me about you was right. Everything they said came true. You’re obsessed with proving yourself to your father, you resent your siblings, and you play games.

Adam: Okay. Maybe that is true. But none of that has anything to do with us.

Sally: It has everything to do with us. You broke my heart. And you’re continuing to break my heart with this hail mary proposal. You really think that I want to go into a marriage this way?

Adam: Okay. I screwed up. I should have given you the grand, romantic gesture that you deserve, sally. But I don’t regret asking you because you and I, we have a love of a lifetime. And in your heart, I don’t think you regret me asking you. And don’t tell me you’ve never thought about us getting married.

Sally: Of course I thought about it, when we were together, and when we were happy — not like this and not now. Why are you torturing me?

Lily: I appreciate your apology. I do. And I have asked myself if I’m being unfair or if I’ve overreacted. But I still believe there is more to this than just you trying to help chelsea.

Billy: Like what?

Lily: I understand that you feel this connection to what she’s going through because of your past. And I really, really hope that she gets through this and comes out stronger on the other side.

Billy: Believe me — so do I. Contrary to your belief that I’m enjoying being a constant presence in her life, I just want her to be happy and healthy. That’s it.

Lily: Billy, the bigger issue, I think, is what are you searching for? Because you stepped down as coo to figure that out, so that you could be a better man, a better partner in business and I can get behind that. I understand that. But what does that practice look like?

Billy: I’m not really sure yet. You know, I haven’t really had time to…

Lily: I know, because of chelsea. I want to help you find the answers. I do. But sometimes I really feel like you don’t want me involved.

Billy: No. That’s not it at all. Honestly, lily, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Chelsea: Can you meet? I’d like to talk. I get bladder leaks.

[ Cellphone pings ]

Lily: It’s chelsea. She wants to talk.

Billy: Really? Um, well, that’s, that’s good, I guess. She’s reaching out to people.

Lily: Well, do you know what she wants to talk about?

Billy: No. You want me to come with you? Sorry. She wants to talk to you. I’ll stay out of it. Are you going to take her up on it?

Nate: I hate to bring this sore point up again, but the reason why I was late for dinner with you the other night is that victoria and i were talking about the future of newman media.

Elena: I know. You already apologized.

Nate: Yes, but my point is that conversation was so fascinating and enlightening that I completely lost track of time. I’ve realized there’s so much I can learn from her. It is such a different working dynamic than with devon, whose idea of teaching someone the ropes is to constantly belittle and suppress. This is how it’s supposed to be. Victoria’s leadership is going to allow me to soar. I can feel it.

Elena: I hope you’re right.

Nate: And if you bring your podcast back to newman, I promise we will support you in a way that ensures that you shine, as well. So, come on. Join me on this journey. Let’s do it together.

Billy: Victoria.

Victoria: Hi, billy.

Billy: How’s johnny?

Victoria: Oh, you know, he’s good. He’s asked a couple of questions about chelsea after thanksgiving, but he seems fine.

Billy: Good. I’m glad to hear that. There’s actually something else I want to talk to you about. And I haven’t really had the time to bring it up yet with everything else that’s been going on.

Victoria: Well, go ahead.

Billy: What you pulled with nate? That’s despicable to me.

Victoria: Ugh! I am so tired of people giving me grief about hiring him. I was under no obligation to keep sally on. Nate’s going to do a great job.

Billy: Yeah. I don’t care about that. That’s not what I’m talking about. It’s how he got the job, the fact that you used him as a mole to infiltrate chancellor-winters.

Victoria: I know that that’s what devon believes, but he’s jumping to conclusions.

Billy: Oh, come on. Just cut the crap. It’s the truth. And I’m just trying to understand why you would do such a thing.

Victoria: I had no idea that you cared so much about chancellor-winters, given that you quit your job there.

Billy: Your company means a lot to lily and to my mother. But you didn’t think about that, did you? And you didn’t think about johnny and katie, either. They ever found out that their mother tried to steal her father’s company.

Victoria: Former company. And if I had done such a thing, I would have explained to the kids that I was doing it so that we could all work together. Anyway, in that hypothetical scenario, you would have stayed on as coo.

Billy: Right. With nate as ceo? No, thanks. Does your father know about this, because I’m sure he’s extremely proud of you.

Victoria: Do you know who else would have approved? Katherine.

Billy: Are you serious?

Victoria: She left chancellor to my father in her will. So, if newman enterprises did take a majority share of chancellor-winters, I guess it would all be in keeping with her wishes, wouldn’t it?

Billy: Oh, my gosh, that is one hell of a rationalization.

Victoria: Well, you know what, billy? That’s the way business works. So, if you don’t like it, I guess it’s a good thing that you stepped away from the corporate world. So, if you’ll excuse me, I came to get a coffee to go.

Adam: Look, sally. I feel terrible for the pain that I have caused you. But the fact that you still have strong feelings for us, that gives me hope.

Sally: We had our chance as a couple, and it didn’t work out. Okay, I’m not playing games with you, I’m not trying to punish you, and I’m not playing hard to get. I can’t go back. I won’T.

Adam: Sally, I know that you were trying to harden your heart towards me, but I can also see what you are working hard not to show.

Sally: There’s nothing behind this curtain. What I’m showing you is all there is.

Adam: I see you, all of you, your depth and your edges and your layers. And I see all that because that is the root of our connection. And that woman, that woman would never trade excitement and passion for what? For safety? Sally, that is not who you are. That is not what you deserve.

Lily: Well, looks like you’re settling in nicely.

Chelsea: Yeah. Yeah. Billy and sharon really helped me with the move.

Lily: Yeah, billy mentioned that. So, how are you feeling?

Chelsea: Uh, I’m okay. It’s a process, but I’m getting stronger, more and more confident every single day since billy stopped me from taking my life. Lily, that’s why I texted you. We didn’t really get a chance to talk at thanksgiving. There were so many people around. But I really appreciate you reaching out. And I know you’ve probably missed out on a lot of time with billy because he’s been busy helping me. And I just want to say I’M… I’m really sorry about that. I’m sure it’s been hard for you, for both of you.

Lily: We’re both just very happy that you’re on the mend.

Chelsea: I know billy didn’t tell you about what was going on with me at the beginning, but I did urge him to talk to you about it.

Lily: Thank you. I really appreciate that.

Chelsea: I’ve just realized now more than ever how dangerous secrets can be and shame. So, I just want to be as open with you as possible. I don’t want there to be any misunderstandings. I don’t want you to misread anything that’s going on between me and billy because he’s been so involved in my situation. I just want to be as transparent as possible. So…if you have any questions for me, I’ll answer them as honest as I can. Mornings are our time,

“The young and the restless”

will continue. If you think all pads are exactly the same…

Lily: Thank you for being straightforward with me. Billy has accused me of not really understanding the situation, which is true. I don’T. You know, at first I didn’t even know what was happening. And, also, I can’t possibly know what you’re going through because I’ve never been through something like that.

Chelsea: Well, I’m glad to hear it. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. But that being said, I feel like I’m really starting to gain control of my life and my treatment.

Lily: Good. I’m really happy to hear that.

Chelsea: Yeah. I’m reaching out to people, talking things through, making sure everyone understands. And I really owe it all to billy that I got a second chance at life. Billy understands. I truly owe him everything.

Sharon: Hey.

Billy: Hi.

Sharon: Are you here to see chelsea?

Billy: Uh, no, not exactly. I’m actually waiting for lily. And chelsea wanted to talk to lily. They’re up in the apartment as we speak.

Sharon: Oh. That’s a good sign.

Billy: Yeah, I think so.

Sharon: You know, I’ve been walking the line between giving chelsea her space and letting her know I’m here if she needs anything.

Billy: Yeah, you’re good at that. Me? Not so much. I feel like I’ve been paying a little too much attention to her more than I should, but I don’t know. I feel responsible in a way.

Sharon: Well, that’s natural and to be expected.

Billy: I have not thanked you yet for everything that you’ve done, not only for chelsea, but for me. I’m just so grateful that you answered the phone that night, and you were there to help me get chelsea to the hospital.

Sharon: Well, I… I know I wouldn’t have gotten better if I hadn’t had help. So, I guess this is just my way of paying it forward.

Adam: You didn’t directly answer my question, sally, or my proposal. You just told me why I never should have made it in the first place.

Sally: I’ve been as clear as I can be. I don’t know what else you want me to say. I have to go. Hi. So glad to see you. Thanks for coming back.

Nick: Thank you so much. Yeah. What’s going on?

Sally: Nothing. I’m famished, and I thought maybe you would enjoy supporting your sister’s restaurant for a second time today.

Nick: Yeah. Sounds good.

Skin your face will envy?

Sally: Well, after you left earlier, I decided to stay here and work and see if it inspired anything. And it has. Ideas for my new interior-design business have been flowing.

Nick: That’s great. You sound even more fired up than you were earlier.

Sally: Yeah. I mean, you know me when I sink my teeth into something.

Nick: I do.

Sally: Yeah, so, I have an inspiration board going. I’ve done some research on some pricing structures and all the places in genoa city that could use my services.

Nick: You’re on a roll.

Sally: Yeah, it’s good. It feels right. I mean, it’s definitely not something I saw myself doing even a few months ago. But when life gives you lemons…

Nick: You’re nothing if not resilient, which I admire almost as much as your attempt to distract me with all this small talk. What’s going on?

Adam: See you later. Thanks for the chat. Glad we were able to clear the air.

Chelsea: I worry that I’ve been too much of a burden on you and billy.

Lily: Like I said, billy and I, we care about you, and we really care about your recovery. And just so you know, I don’t think that you should give all the credit to billy for saving you. I mean, you worked really hard to be here, and you continue to work hard to get better.

Chelsea: My therapist said something similar.

Lily: It’s true. Billy told me that it’s important to have a network of people to lean on, which you have. You know, you have sharon and adam and chloe, your therapist. And that’s great, you know, because billy’s wonderful. But I think it’s better to have a group of people to support you. You know, because billy can’t really be there for you 24/7.

Chelsea: Yeah. Um, yeah. Thank you for your candor. And I agree. Billy should be somewhere else, focusing on his own life. I mean, he’s really lucky that he has you. Everyone should have that kind of support.

Lily: And you do have that support. I mean, look at this place, right? And the people who helped get you here.

Chelsea: Yeah, you’re right. Well, I, um, I really appreciate you being willing to talk to me about this. It means a lot.

Lily: Yeah, of course. And, look, chelsea, I… I’m really rooting for you. I really hope that you’ll continue to heal and build a wonderful, new life for yourself.

Billy: Sharon, do you think I have a savior complex?

Sharon: No, I don’t think you’re being that way. I think what you’re doing for chelsea is important, and not everybody can look beyond themselves and take responsibility for what’s going on with somebody else.

Billy: Thank you.

Sharon: You know, if you get worn out or tired, you need to be aware of that because you have to take care of yourself, too. So if you ever want to just step back altogether, take a break… burnout is a real thing, you know? You’ve got to look out for that.

Billy: I don’t feel like I need a break. I don’t really have any intention of stepping back. So…

Adam: Hi, sharon. Glad you’re here. And you are here, also.

Billy: Hey, adam.

Adam: I came to check on chelsea. Is she upstairs?

Billy: She is, yes, but she’s having a conversation with lily. So, it’s best that they have some space.

Nick: What was that about?

Sally: I mean, we don’t have to get into it.

Nick: Eh… yeah, we do. Adam clearly wanted me to know that you two talked. So, it worked. I’m curious. How exactly did you two clear the air?

Sally: He just apologized for his behavior the other night.

Nick: Ah, you mean his desperate proposal?

Sally: I suppose, unless you’re suggesting that someone needs to be desperate to propose to me.

Nick: No, definitely not. No, I… bad choice of words. I should have went with “jarring.” I know this situation’s got you on edge, and I don’t blame you. But, honestly, sally, you still haven’t told me how you really feel about his proposal. Research shows people remember commercials

Nate: I’m not going to pressure you to come back to newman media. I know I sprung the idea on you. I hope you’ll at least give it some thought.

Elena: Of course I will.

Nate: I might have the perfect place for you to do your thinking. Victoria and i are going to los angeles for some business meetings. You should come. It could be a combination business trip and romantic getaway. I could make it up to you for missing out on hawaii.

Elena: Hmm. Romantic getaway sounds intriguing.

Nate: Right? Some cocktails by the beach, maybe hit a museum or two.

Elena: Between you telling me why I should bring my podcast back to newman?

Nate: Only if you’re open to it. We do work really well together. We always have.

Elena: I want things to go back to the way that they used to be between us.

Nate: I’ve been missing us.

Sally: Frankly, I’m kind of exhausted of everything adam right now — you know, the proposal, the conflict the other night. I am really tired of thinking about it. And the last thing I want is to cause any more trouble between you and adam. So, I would really love it if we could just put it behind us and just move on. Can we do that?

Nick: Absolutely. Talking about adam is one of my least-favorite things to do in this world. But just so you know, if you ever want to revisit it, I’m always here to listen to you.

Sally: Got it. Thank you. Now, how was your thanksgiving, because we still haven’t caught up about your jam-packed day of family fun.

Nick: Just making sure you remember. I did invite you to come with me.

Sally: I was perfectly happy with dinner for one. It was exactly what I needed. And thank you again for sending me that bottle of wine. It was exactly what I needed.

Nick: Oh, I know your party-of-one strategy was so you could avoid, you know, any drama.

Sally: Yeah, just me versus the remote control.

Nick: It was a great time. You know, my family, for the most part, was very well-behaved. So, it was pretty drama-free, as well.

Sally: I’m glad.

Nick: And the best part of the day is always the volunteering. Sharon organizes this dinner for the unhoused and under-resourced, and new hope donates a portion of the meal. It’s become this really cool tradition with sharon and the kids.

Sharon: Um, adam, why don’t we give billy and lily some space?

Billy: So, how’d it go?

Lily: Uh, it went well. She just wanted to let me know how much your support has meant to her and that you did indeed save her life.

Billy: Did she use those exact words?

Lily: It wasn’t like that. It was a good conversation. I feel like I understand better what she’s facing, although it did seem like at times she was testing me to see if I would say that she’s taking up too much of your time.

Billy: And how did you address that?

Lily: Well, I said that you want to be there for her and that I support that. And I told her, too, that, you know, she has other people to lean on, that she has chloe and sharon and adam, and that it’s important to have a network of people to rely on.

Billy: Well, it sounds like you said all the right things.

Lily: Yeah, I hope so.

Billy: Can we get out of here? Can we go to society? I can buy you lunch, and we can make up for some lost time.

Lily: Yeah, I’d like that.

Billy: Thank you for being so forgiving.

Lily: I think you are doing a good thing by helping her. I feel like I understand that better after talking to her.

Billy: I drove. So, why don’t you head over there, and I’ll be right behind you.

Lily: Okay.

Billy: Okay.

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Chelsea: Hey, it’s chelsea. Leave a message at the beep.

Billy: Hey, it’s me. Just checking in. Give me a call when you get a second.

Nate: Hey. I’ve been meaning to give you a call. I haven’t seen you around here much since I started.

Nick: Yeah, I’ve been working on other projects.

Nate: I would love to hear about them. Why don’t we get together for lunch?

Nick: I can’t today.

Nate: It doesn’t have to be today.

Nick: I’m booked solid, nate.

Nate: Okay. What can I do for you?

Nick: Look, we’ve known each other a long time. We’ve always been on good terms. I can’t say I was a fan of what you tried to pull at chancellor-winters, but I’m glad you were able to get another job. I’m not pleased with my sister that it was this job, though. If it were up to me, sally spectra would still be ceo of newman media.

[ Door opens ]

Chloe: I’ve been doing some research into ways we can jump-start our new fashion line. You are going to love this.

Sally: Chloe —

Chloe: With your talent and my business acumen and nick’s funding, we’re too good to fail.

Sally: That is what he said.

Chloe: See? Then it must be true.

Sally: Right before I turned down his offer of a loan. Find your beat

Victoria: Your goal is to weasel your way into my son’s life, even after billy obviously told you he wants nothing to do with you. So, if you happen to see him, don’t say anything. Don’t approach him. Just walk away.

Chelsea: [ Breathing heavily ]

[ Knocking on door ]

Billy: Chelsea? Hey. Chelsea. Hey. Hi.

Chelsea: What are you doing here?

Billy: It’s okay. It’s alright.

Chelsea: [ Exhales heavily ]

Billy: Just take a breath. Just take a deep breath.

Chelsea: [ Sniffles ]

Billy: You okay? I knocked. I don’t — I don’t know if you heard it or not. But your door was open, so i just, uh… I wanted to check up on you.

Chelsea: [ Exhales sharply ]

Billy: You okay? You — you seem a little upset.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Yeah. Yeah. You know, laundry.

Billy: Yeah. Not high on my list, either.

Chelsea: [ Exhales heavily ]

Billy: I just wanted to come and say hi, see — see if everything was alright. You know, I didn’t see you yesterday for thanksgiving dessert.

Chelsea: Yeah. Yeah. Um…

[ Breathes deeply ] Um, I — I spent some time with connor and, um, adam, and then i didn’t feel like doing any more of the holiday, you know?

Billy: Mm.

Chelsea: But I’m good. I’m okay. Really.

[ Sighs ]

Billy: You know, you don’t have to pretend with me. You know? We can — we can just sit here and talk,

w some fresh air. We can go downstairs and grab a tea, or I can help you sort through your laundry. But you don’t have to push me away.

Chelsea: Okay. I don’t know. I was just sitting here and all these dark thoughts started coming and — and I-I didn’t have anyplace for them to go.

[ Breathes deeply ]

Billy: So you told me what you thought I wanted to hear.

Chelsea: Why won’t these painful thoughts go away?

Chloe: I can’t believe you turned down nick’s loan without consulting me.

Sally: Well, you know I never felt good about it. I promised I’d consider it, and I did. But in the end, it just really didn’t feel like the right move.

Chloe: I get it. I — I do. I really do, but you have to understand that —

Sally: Okay, no, I know. And also, in the interest of full disclosure, there’s something else that you should know. I don’t want to start a fashion line.

Chloe: [ Chuckles ] Okay. Um… what do you want to do?

Sally: Well, I have an idea. But I do not want to get in the way of your career goals. You’re brilliant. You’re driven. I love working with you, and anyone would be so lucky to have you as a partner.

Chloe: What is this? Wait, are you breaking up with me?

Sally: [ Stammers ] That is up to you. I totally understand if you want to walk away. But I really hope that you continue working with me while we conquer a brand-new field.

Nate: You’ve been honest about how you felt about my predecessor. It’s only fair I do the same.

Nick: I appreciate that.

Nate: Based on everything I’ve seen since I’ve started here, sally was kind of a visionary. I looked at the policies she implemented, the way she was trying to bring different threads of the company together. I got to say, I was impressed. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am grateful for this opportunity. But from what I observed, sally didn’t deserve to be let go. That was victoria’s call, not mine. And like I told sally, I didn’t come looking for this job.

Nick: Yeah. You were aiming to run chancellor-winters. But this job fell in your lap because you were willing to sacrifice your family’s legacy to help my sister… and yourself.

Abby: I packed some of his favorite toys in here.

Devon: Thank you very much.

Abby: Yeah.

Devon: Appreciate it.

Abby: [ Sighs heavily ] So, um, is it just me, or does this feel a little…

Devon: A little awkward?

Abby: Yeah. I mean, I know we’ve done this drop-off thing, like, a hundred times, but for some reason, this feels a little weird.

Devon: Yeah, it does a little bit, huh?

Abby: Yeah. So, what do we do? Do we stick to talking about strictly childcare? Or do we talk about how our lives are going off the rails?

Devon: We should probably talk about us, right? Hi, I’m darlene

Billy: You know, I don’t have a definitive answer for why you’re having these feelings or these thoughts. But I do know that you haven’t had an easy life. You know, you haven’t had a lot of people in your life that are reliable or stable. You had to run all those cons, you know? You had obstacles to overcome. And your brain is reacting to the life that — that you’ve lived. In a way, it’s — it’s, you know, creating these tools to help you survive.

Chelsea: Yeah. I guess that makes sense.

Billy: And, look, I’m no therapist. We know that. So take everything I’m saying with a grain of salt. But I would imagine that your brain still thinks that you’re living on the edge. And it’s telling you that you’re in danger, and you’re in self-preservation mode.

Chelsea: That does sound familiar.

Billy: You know, it’s almost like a fire alarm. It’s — it’s — it’s going off, and it’s blaring, but there’s no smoke and there’s no fire. You’re not really in danger, but it’s telling you that you are. And it just does not stop. The sound — it’s annoying, and it just becomes really exhausting.

Chelsea: The worst. It’s like you know exactly what I’m going through.

Billy: Unfortunately, right now, it just — it is what it is. You know, you’re dealing with an illness right now, and it’s not gonna be easy to get past it. You know, that depression — it can come on fast, it can come on hard, and it can change your feelings and your behaviors. But I think what’s important is that you — you try really hard not to let it take your power. You got to not let the pain and the fear lead. You got to push through that.

Chelsea: It’s easier said than done, billy.

Chance: I’m sorry. What exactly have you been told?

Victor: What’s going on in your marriage to abby?

Chance: Look, victor, our marriage is a private matter. If abby would like to confide in you, she can. That’s fine. But I don’t feel comfortable sharing that information with you.

Victor: Now, chance, if neither you nor abby will me what’s going on… I’m going to ask devon.

Chance: Devon?

Victor: Last night I saw abby at society. She was very upset. Then suddenly devon came in. She greeted him rather warmly. Felt very comfortable with him. What’s going on?

Nate: It’s easy to judge the players after watching five minutes of what’s happening on the field. But you’re missing a lot that transpired in that locker room way before you showed up.

Nick: Well, you could also say in times of crisis we show our true colors. What you tried to pull with chancellor-winters goes against everything I ever thought I knew about you.

Nate: Then I look forward to proving to you that I am still a decent person.

Nick: Good luck with that. I mean it. I’ve seen this kind of transformation before. I experienced it myself when i started dark horse. That kind of power can be addictive and dangerous. But here’s the thing, nate. Getting the big chair — it rarely is as satisfying as you think it’s going to be because there is simply no endgame. You always want more. Hey! It’s me! Your dry skin!

Nate: I appreciate the warning, nick. But there’s a world of difference between the two of us. I wasn’t raised to lead a billion-dollar empire from the moment I drew my first breath. I never wanted power. All I wanted was knowledge.

Nick: So, you didn’t feel powerful when you knew you were the only person in the world who could save a patient’s life?

Nate: I got into medicine because I wanted to help people. This position is just another way for me to find purpose and do some good.

Nick: You can keep telling yourself that, nate, but I’m telling you, you can become addicted to that rush of power. And like any addiction, the high feels great. Until it consumes you, and then you crash and take everyone down with you.

Nate: Oh, come on, nick. Nothing like that is going to happen.

Nick: Well, we’ll see, won’t we? But unfortunately I just don’t think I can trust the man you’ve become, and I think that’s sad.

Chloe: Okay, I’m waiting for the punch line. You haven’t told me what you want to do, you have absolutely no funding, and you want me to be your ride-or-die on this insane adventure.

Sally: Yeah. We’re good together.

Chloe: Yeah, I love working with you, too.

Sally: Okay. So…you on board?

Chloe: I can’t believe I’m gonna say this… but yes. Before we move forward, I just want to know one thing. How did nick take the rejection?

Sally: He understands.

Chloe: Of course he did. The amazing nick newman understands everything.

Sally: [ Scoffs ]

Chloe: Look, I’m joking, but

[Sighs] Aren’t you glad you chose the brother who’s capable of honest, human emotion?

Sally: Okay, adam has emotions. He just has a different way of showing them.

Chloe: Don’t tell me that you’re waffling.

Sally: No, I’m just saying that adam is…human. Okay, but there’s no way that he could care more about me than he does about his own ego and his need to win.

Chloe: Great. Because I am going to need all of your attention devising an entirely new business plan from scratch.

Sally: Well, I wouldn’t say from scratch. Like I said, I… have an idea.

Chance: Well, I’m glad she has someone to lean on right now ’cause we are having a difficult time.

Victor: Well, for your information, I don’t know of a marriage that isn’t going through a difficult time, you know? In that case, you just pull it together, work things out.

Chance: Yeah. Wish it was that simple.

Victor: So, what’s the problem?

Chance: Well, your daughter… she thought that I was putting work over family. I think it’s been a long time coming, actually. In retrospect, we got married too soon, spent too much time apart.

Victor: Whoa. I had no idea. You love her?

Chance: Yeah, I do, and i probably always will. But I have to accept that the most loving thing to do right now is to let her before things get worse.

Victor: What are you not telling me?

Abby: How’s dom?

Devon: He is sleeping like a champ. How are you? How you doing?

Abby: [ Sighs heavily ] Thanksgiving was challenging. And it was weird not spending the day with chance, like, as a family. And after I left society, I was supposed to go over to the ranch, but I just — I didn’t feel up to it. So dominic and I spent the evening alone.

Devon: Spent it alone. Why didn’t you come over here? You know you could have.

Abby: You were spending the day with your family. And besides, I knew there would be questions, questions that i am…not ready to answer yet.

Devon: Have you and chance talked at all?

Abby: He doesn’t want to talk to me. He sends messages through the nanny, dom-related issues only.

Devon: I mean, he’s understandably upset. So it’s gonna take him some time to come around.

Abby: That doesn’t mean he’s gonna wantco

Devon: No, but it doesn’t mean he’s not, either. I don’t believe that he’s just gonna throw away your marriage, abby.

Abby: I keep trying to convince chance of that, but he is adamant.

Devon: Yeah, I know what that’s like. Well, listen. Even if you guys don’t get back together — and that’s still a big “if” — I know the two of you will figure out how to co-parent because you guys love dominic so much.

Abby: Thank you for saying that. I’m just really happy that we can still be open and honest with each other because if i lost that on top of everything else, I don’t know what I would do.

Devon: Abby, you will never lose that. I promise you. Even though we can’t take back what we did, we can make sure that it doesn’t ruin our friendship… or the way we raise our son.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Billy: You know, chels, learning to take control, it’s — it’s not easy. It’s, uh… I mean, it’s a process. And it’s baby steps. I mean, for instance, you know, take yesterday with johnny, right? I mean…I don’t know if he’s ready to build a relationship with you, but you two had a great conversation, right?

Chelsea: Yeah.

Billy: Right, and that was all him. Nobody — nobody told him to do that. That was him, and that was a conversation that, you know, a week ago, you would have never dreamed of happening.

Chelsea: It was great.

Billy: Right.

Chelsea: For me. But was victoria upset?

Billy: Victoria’s gonna have to take her baby steps, too, but I will tell you th w

Chelsea: Did you tell her about me? Where I was? What I almost did?

Billy: I told her some of it, yeah. But to be honest, I don’t know exactly what connor told johnny. I thought it was fair that victoria know what he was reacting to.

Chelsea: Yeah.

Billy: You know, we’re really proud of him for taking those steps on his own. And you’re gonna do the same. I believe in you. And no matter what your brain is trying to tell you right now, you do have the ability to develop healthy ways to push through.

Chelsea: Yeah.

[ Sighs heavily ] I’m okay.

Billy: Good. And no matter what anybody tells me, or you for instance, I’m not going anywhere, okay? I’m gonna be here for you, whether it’s downstairs for a scone or a quick little phone call, okay? My point is…

[ Cellphone pings ] One second. Hold on.

Chelsea: Everything okay?

Billy: Yeah. Yeah. Uh, I’m just meeting lily for a coffee. But before I go, let me say this. I think your brain is trying to protect you by telling you to push people away, but you got to override the system because there are a lot of people that love you and care about you and want to help you. “The young and the restless”

will continue.

Chelsea: Hi.

[ Sighs ]

Chloe: I am glad that you texted. It has been way too long.

Chelsea: Yeah. A lot has happened. Come on in.

Chloe: I know. We have so much to catch up on, starting with, how did you end up living in this place?

Chelsea: Uh, well [Clears throat] Moving here was a byproduct of some… pretty major events.

Chloe: Oh, nothing bad, i hope? I ran into adam. He was looking for you. HeI spent thanksgiving with him and connor, actually.

Chloe: Oh. That’s nice.

Chelsea: Yeah, it was. There reason he was having trouble finding me is that I was in the hospital.

Chloe: Were you sick? Did you get in an accident?

Chelsea: I was there for some mental-health issues.

Chloe: What? What happened?

Chelsea: Um…over the past few months, I’ve been just spiraling down a very dark, very deep hole, and I couldn’t find my way out of it.

Chloe: [ Sighs ] You know, when you ended our partnership, I knew that you were struggling, but I didn’t know it was this serious. I haven’t been there for you. I’m so sorry. I feel so guilty.

Chelsea: Don’T. I hid this from everyone until it finally just exploded. I wish I had thought to confide in my best friend. I mean, no one would have understood better than you.

Chloe: Absolutely. I’m so sorry. I should have checked in with you more and reminded you that, even though our partnership ended, that our friendship was still solid.

Chelsea: The truth is, I just felt weaker than you. Because you’ve been through so much more than I have and you’ve always been able to persevere.

Chloe: [ Exhales heavily ]

Billy: Hi. Sorry I’m late. I got held up.

Lily: No. Uh, you left the apartment really early this morning.

Billy: Yeah, I, uh — I went to the gym, and then I went by to check on chelsea and make sure that everything was okay there.

Lily: Yeah, I figured that’s where you were.

Billy: Yeah, well, she didn’t join us for thanksgiving yesterday, so I just wanted to see if there was anything she needed.

Lily: Okay. Well, now that she’s okay, there’s something that I need.

Billy: Sure. What is it?

Lily: You.

Billy: Of course. I’m all yours. You know that.

Lily: Well, I used to, but… I don’t know. We just haven’t really had a chance to talk lately. You know, I’ve had work. You’ve had…other things. And I was chatting with devon about how delicate relationships are and how, if you’re not careful, it’s like there’s this distance that kind of grows between you, and then you just…

[ Cellphone thuds ] Something with chelsea, i assume?

Billy: Chelsea’s meeting with chloe to, you know, fill her in on everything that she’s been going through, and I just, uh, want to make sure just in case she needs something.

Lily: Yeah, well, I hope having chloe in the mix doesn’t interfere with your new life’s mission.

Billy: And what exactly do you mean by that?

Nate: Nick, look —

Victoria: Gentlemen.

[ Sighs ] What’s new at newman media? All well, I trust?

Nate: Couldn’t be better. Nick here was just offering some friendly career advice, which i will take to heart. I am grateful for any and all words of wisdom you have to offer. You clearly have a lot to teach me.

Nick: I’m glad you appreciate it.

Victoria: I’ll see you at the morning meeting.

Nick: I’ll be there.

Abby: Thank you. And you’re right. Dominic is the most important thing. And I know that chance loves him. I’ve never doubted that. But I have to face the facts. My marriage is over.

Devon: Abby. Abby, you can’t say that so soon. It’s too soon. You guys haven’t talked. You have to give him time.

Abby: What if chance is right? I mean, what if he can’t give mee everything that I need? What if I am trying to turn him into something that he isn’t?

Devon: You know that, um, amanda came back to tell me that she was planning to spend a lot more time in virginia with her family.

Abby: You started growing away from each other.

[ Sighs ]

Devon: Yeah. Distance does that. I don’t know, though. I don’t know if… because she’s needed by her family so much now, maybe it was just a matter of time before we split up. Some things are inevitable.

Abby: [ Sighs ] When cold symptoms keep you up,

Abby: You can say that your breakup was inevitable, and i can say I was asking too much of chance, but, I mean, maybe we’re just making excuses so we don’t feel as guilty about what we did. Because the truth is, if we hadn’t slept together, maybe we could have worked out the problems that we were having in our relationships. But what we did — it was unforgivable.

Devon: We weren’t trying to hurt anybody, though.

Abby: But that was the outcome. We hurt people that we claim to love the most.

Devon: I regret making anybody feel that way. But I meant what I said before. Part of me doeeg happened between us just ’cause in the moment, it made all the sense in the world.

[ Dominic crying ]

Chance: I wish I could tell you more, victor. That’s up to her. I am sorry that she’s hurting, though.

Victor: That’s all you can say, that you’re sorry she’s hurting?

Chance: I hope you know I am hurting, as well.

Victor: Well, then do something about it.

Chance: Not everything can be fixed.

Victor: You’ll do nothing?

Chance: Sometimes the best way to heal, victor, is just to leave things alone.

Victor: [ Exhales heavily ] Do I need to remind you, chance, that when you came back from your overseas assignment in spain, you promised me that you would put my daughter on a pedestal, that she would be more important than anything else? Are you not a man of your word? Because one thing I promise you — as you get older, you realize that family is everything, everything worth fighting for. Don’t you forget it.

Chelsea: I wish I had your strength. I don’t know how you managed to go on after you lost delia. So, compared to your struggles, I don’t know how to justify my pain.

Chloe: Ohh. [ Sighs ] Pain is not a competitive sport. I mean, losing delia was my own personal hell, but you have your own losses. We all do.

Chelsea: I know, but —

Chloe: No, trying to compare pain is — it’s disrespectful to our own personal journey. That doesn’t make it any less real.

Chelsea: Thanks for getting it.

Chloe: I’m your best friend. We get each other. But I know the last time that you were hospitalized, you weren’t getting the help that you needed, and I hope you are now.

Chelsea: I am. I want and I need real help. I don’t have a choice anymore. Because I was literally on the edge.

Chloe: Wait, you… I mean, what do you mean? What…?

Chelsea: [ Breathes deeply ] It could have gone all very, very, very wrong, incredibly wrong, forever wrong if it wasn’t for billy. He stopped me. He saved my life.

Lily: I think that you are distracting yourself with this new mission to save chelsea as a way to feel better about leaving chancellor-winters.

Billy: You got to be kidding me.

Lily: Billy, you said that you were quitting to find your passion and your calling, but you’ve done anything but.

Billy: Lily, are you hearing yourself right now?

Lily: Um, do you see yourself? Because chelsea has a lot of people around her who can support her, but yet you feel like she can’t function without your constant presence and attention.

Billy: I honestly can’t believe that you’re going there.

Lily: Okay, you know what? If you want to feel like you’re doing some noble gesture by sacrificing every bit of your day and night for her, that’s fine, but what you’re really doing is you’re not letting yourself take responsibility for anything.

Billy: Okay. There it is. Now you’re actually telling the truth.

Lily: Okay, you know what? Forget it.

Billy: No, no, please go ahead. Have at it.

Lily: I worry, billy, okay? I worry about you and chelsea because you don’t know what you’re playing at with this.

Billy: No, you’re right. I’m not a therapist. I never claimed to be a therapist, but I know where she’s coming from.

Lily: Just because you’ve been in dark places doesn’t mean that you can lead her through something like this. How is she gonna develop any sense of normalcy or independence or — or rebuild meaningful relationships in her life if she’s always navigating around you?

Billy: I think it’s important that she has support from her family and friends, lily.

Lily: She has other people, billy, okay? She has sharon, who has a degree in psychology, who works downstairs. She has chloe, who’s been stepping up. Adam — connor’s dad — he’s also been stepping up, right?

Billy: Yeah, he has, but that’s not the point, is it?

Lily: No. The point is that instead of owning your own limitations, you’re using chelsea’s traumatic experience to run away.

Billy: Oh, my god. Run away from what?

Lily: From the company. From supporting me, okay? This is you being who you’ve always been, billy. It’s you chasing the next high. And the next high now is you being billy the savior.

Music (“I swear”) plays

Billy: I honestly can’t believe how judgmental and petty you’re being, and I’m just gonna stop right there so I don’t say something that I regret.

Lily: Like what?

Billy: Like the truth. I mean, it seems like we’re both having a problem with that right now.

Lily: Sorry. What am I not being honest about?

Billy: About me leaving chancellor-winters. I mean, you expect 100% transparency from everyone you work with, except you’re not being honest about how you really feel about me leaving the company. And now — now what? You’re gonna bring chelsea into the middle of this?

Lily: You’re the one who’s made her the center of everything.

Billy: Honestly, lily, i I expected you to recognize that I am simply trying to help someone else in need.

Lily: Are you really gonna turn this around on me and make me the villain?

Billy: Come on. Let’s just be honest. We both know that it was the right time for me to walk away. I asked you a million times, and you said yes. I asked if I should stick around. You insisted that it was time for me to resign. And now what? You’re holding a grudge?

Lily: [ Sighs ]

Billy: Why is that? Are you upset that my goals aren’t the same as your goals? Are you upset that I’m finding purpose outside the corporate world, outside of working for you?

Lily: Of course not.

Billy: I mean, did you like me better when I was solely in service of you, where I depended on you, and then you would rein me in every once in a while? I mean, maybe — maybe it’s you. Maybe you’re the one that has the savior complex.

Lily: Careful, billy.

Billy: If I don’t need saving anymore, lily, where does that leave you?

Victoria: So, what was really going on between you and nick?

Nate: Oh, nothing much. He just dropped by to see how i was settling in.

Victoria: Then why did things seem so tense?

Nate: Well, he mentioned that because of everything that went down at chancellor-winters he doesn’t trust me.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] He shouldn’t have said that.

Nate: No, it’s alright. I’ll just have to work hard to prove myself to him.

Victoria: You know what? Forget about nick.Talk aut you.

Nate: Uh-oh. Something tells me I’m about to get an earful.

Victoria: No, no, no. It’s all good. Every single e-mail that I have gotten has been something along the lines of, “just met nate. Great hire. Nice guy. Looking forward to working with him.”

Nate: I promise you, I am not paying for those reviews.

Victoria: Oh, trust me, i have considered all of the sources, and those people have been here a long time. They’ve seen a lot of changes. And for them to sit up and takef the new guy and take time to mention him, they’re very impressed.

Nate: Wow. That’s a real compliment, given how talented everyone around here seems to be.

Victoria: You are off to a wonderful start. I want you to meet our executive team in our california offices. I’d like for you to accompany me to a meeting in los angeles next week.

Nate: Mm. Looking forward to it. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Chloe: Billy saved you? What… were you thinking… were you thinking about dying?

Chelsea: I was. But now I am so thankful that i didn’t do it.

Chloe: So am I. I can’t imagine a world without my best friend.

Chelsea: Neither can I. After I pushed you away, it felt like a piece of me was missing.

Chloe: I am so proud of you for doing all the hard work you need to do to get well.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ]

Chloe: And you’re gonna get the right help this time. You’re going to listen to everything that your doctors tell you to do.

Chelsea: Yeah, all of them.

Chloe: And I’m gonna be here for you, whatever you need, because I love you. You’re like my sister. We’re supposed to grow old together.

[ Both laugh ] Play pickleball and wear our matching tracksuits.

Chelsea: [ Laughs ]

[ Sniffles ]

Chloe: And there are gonna be some crappy days, but you got to stick around for the good parts, okay?

Chelsea: That’s the plan.

Chloe: [ Exhales sharply ]

Chelsea: [ Sniffles ]

[ Sighs ]

Abby: Hi.

Chance: I just had a very interesting conversation with your father.

Abby: I hope you didn’t tell him.

Chance: No, I didn’t tell him. I kept your secret, just like you asked, took all the blame. I hope you know I have no intention of embarrassing you by telling your family or anybody else what happened.

Abby: Thank you. That’s very generous of you.

Chance: Protect and serve.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Chance: Anyways, this conversation with your father got me thinking about this whole situation.

Abby: Yeah?

Chance: Yeah. And I think there’s one thing that we can both agree on. It would be a monumental mistake to drag this out any further. I think the best thing for everyone involved is that we move forward with the divorce immediately.

Summer: Daniel! Oh, my god! I am so glad that you are home! Oh, my gosh! It has been way too long.

Daniel: Yeah. It’s good to be back. I’m just excited that my high-powered executive sister had, you know, the time to fit me into her busy schedule.

Summer: Very funny. You know that I will always make time for you.

Daniel: You better.

[ Sighs ] Seriously, though, I am so proud of everything you’ve managed to accomplish.

Summer: It’s not that big of a deal. I’m just lucky I get to do what I love. Enough about me, though. I want to hear about you.

There’s really not that much to tell.

Summer: Come on. Mom’s not here, so you can give me the real story.

Daniel: I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Summer: You are being very vague, brother dear.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Summer: First, you surprise mom for thanksgiving, and now you’re not telling us how long you’re planning on staying in town? What is up with that?

Daniel: Well, you know, if you’re worried about us hanging out, don’t be. Thinking about sticking around genoa city for a little bit.

Summer: That’s great.

Daniel: Mm-hmm. To that end, I actually have a meeting with billy, lily, and devon. Pitching them something.

Summer: You want to work with chancellor-winters? I wouldn’t think that they would have much use for an artist.

Daniel: Thinking of a new career. And it might just be a game-changer.

Devon: Hey.

Lily: Hey.

Devon: Come on in.

Lily: I brought your pie plate back. I devoured the leftovers this morning.

Devon: You did? You ate it all?

Lily: Oh, my god. It was so good.

[ Both laugh ] Did you recover from your turkey stupor?

Devon: Yes, I did, thank you. I’m well-rested and ready to get to work.

Lily: Okay. Well, first, I want to chat. All right, I let it slide yesterday ’cause it was a holiday, but I could see how miserable you were. I mean, you didn’t even break a smile when moses video-called in from sofia’S.

Devon: What are you talking about? I loved seeing him.

Lily: No, I know you do. I know. But, I mean, clearly, there’s more to this amanda breakup story than you told me. Right? So, come on, open up. Talk to me. Maybe I can help in some way.

Devon: You can’T. There’s nothing that can help the situation.

Lily: Okay. Why don’t you try me?

Danny: Mm. You’re not gonna want to hear this — at all. Um… okay, I’ll tell you. Abby and I slept together.

Nikki: Well, good morning.

Talia: Nikki, phyllis, good morning. I’m surprised you wanted to meet here.

Nikki: Oh, well, my very creative grandson owns the joint.

Phyllis: Yes, that, and there are some people in this town that aren’t too thrilled about our continuing friendship. So, uh, we don’t want to call ourselves out, you know?

Talia: That’s fine. I’m not insulted. Comes with the territory when you’re an investigative journalist. So what was so urgent?

Nikki: There’s a new twist in the diane jenkins saga.

Diane: May I come in?

Jack: Please. If you’re here to see harrison or kyle, they’re not here. They’re on a playdate with one of harrison’s friends. I don’t know when they’ll be back.

Diane: Oh, well, I’m sorry I missed them, but I guess it gives me an opportunity to thank you.

Jack: For what?

Diane: Well, after far too many thanksgivings spent alone, it was really special to be included in what was, for the most part, a wonderful holiday, moments with my family that I’ll cherish forever.

Jack: I know your being here meant a lot to kyle and harrison.

Diane: I just hope you don’t hold me responsible for ashley’s abrupt departure.

Tucker: Hey. Oh, you look lovely this morning.

Ashley: Thank you.

Tucker: Oh. Yeah. It’s a token of my affection.

Ashley: Well, this isn’t a date, so you can forget the flattery and everything. Let’s get down to business. You know why I’m here.

Tucker: Do I? I love what downy does for my sheets and towels.

Lily: Oh, my god. You and abby were having an affair?

Devon: No, it wasn’t like that at all. It happened just once, but the timing couldn’t have been any worse.

Lily: What do you mean?

Devon: I mean that amanda walked in and caught us together.

Lily: What?

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: Oh, my god. I mean, poor amanda. It’s like she was gone, dealing with this medical emergency with her mom for months. She comes home, thinking she’s gonna have this romantic reunion with you, and walks in on you and abby?

Devon: If you’re trying to make me feel better, you’re doing a great job.

Lily: No, look, I’m sorry, okay? I’m not. I’m not judging. I just… I mean, wow. She would have had every right to slap you or even trash this place.

Devon: Oh, believe me, I know that, and I’m glad that she didn’T.

Lily: Wow. I mean, now I see why she had to leave town and resign so quickly.

Devon: Yeah, so do I. She wanted to get the hell away from me. And I don’t blame her. It’s the second time I’ve cheated on her like this. All she’s ever done is support me in this relationship. She supported me when I agreed to have a child with abby and chance. She even drew up the damn paperwork. And she had my back when i wanted to have a bigger role in dominic’s life, and this is how I repay her.

Lily: Wow. Wait. What about chance? Does he know?

Devon: Yeah. Yeah, he knows. Because he was with amanda when they walked in and caught us.

Lily: [ Scoffs ] Devon, I mean, this is a disaster.

Devon: I know. And abby’s pretty sure that their marriage is over.

Lily: Wow. I mean… now I see why you’ve been so miserable. Look, I hate to ask, but, I mean, come on. What were you and abby thinking?

Devon: I don’t — we weren’t thinking, obviously, lily. She just came over to talk. We were both upset about things going on in our lives, and we turned to each other for support like we always do ’cause we’re friends. And…it just happened. And now there’s nothing we can do about it. It’s done, it’s over with. Can’t take it back.

Jack: Now, hold on. I am not holding you responsible for ashley leaving in the middle of the meal. Look, I understand her upset, but you are sharing your heartfelt feelings about your newfound place in the family.

Diane: Well, I’m glad that my true feelings came across, at least to some people at the table.

Jack: Unfortunately, I don’t think ashley’s ever going to accept you as an abbott.

Diane: Well, her nasty attitude towards me I can live with. But it’s her sheer determination to destroy me that’s the problem. And now she’s amassed this ruthless mini army behind her. She’s got nikki and phyllis, that reporter, talia morgan, and tucker. They have basically forced me to declare war to defend and protect myself.

Jack: Let’s be careful of the language we use. Saying it’s war is pretty extreme.

Diane: Yes, but it’s accurate. And I am terrified of how you and kyle might feel if things get ugly.

Jack: This doesn’t have to be a battle. Sometimes non-engagement is the best defense. Or is that out of your skill set?

Ashley: I haven’t changed my mind. Diane pushed me too far. And she had the nerve to insinuate her way into my family. She sat her butt down at the abbott dinner table on thanksgiving, no less.

Tucker: The nerve.

Ashley: Yeah. The nerve. I’m done. I am lowering the boom on her.

Tucker: I hope you are successful. I feel like I’ve given you all the ammunition you could possibly need. But my involvement with diane officially ends here.

Nikki: All those years in L.A., We knew diane was up to no good.

Phyllis: Yeah, yeah. And then, when we heard — or, found out, rather — that she was moving money illegally for a known felon, jeremy stark, I mean, this was more than we could have even imagined.

Nikki: Oh, she was aiding and abetting. And somehow, he got sent to prison, but she was never even arrested.

Phyllis: Yeah, interesting. Without any scrutiny by the fbi.

Nikki: We think that she may have cut a deal with the feds to send stark to prison.

Phyllis: What do you think of that? That’s a good story.

Talia: I’m still trying to persuade my publisher to get past his diane jenkins moratorium. And I definitely wouldn’t risk my professional reputation by attempting a freelance article or pitching a book based on hearsay. So do either of you have any proof that diane worked for stark or the fbi?

Phyllis: Well, we’re working on that.

Nikki: We were hoping that you would have your own resources to help us nail that down.

Talia: I’m sorry, ladies. I don’t like where you’re taking things.

Who’s on it with jardiance?

Summer: So, what is this idea that could keep you in town for a while?

Daniel: Yeah, it’s just something that I’ve been working on that…I think could be really big.

Summer: Bigger than coming to work with me at marchetti? Because I was kind of thinking about offering you a position.

Daniel: I really feel like this project is worth pursuing. Yeah, look, I just — I don’t want to talk about it too much. I don’t want to jinx it.

Summer: Okay. I won’t press. But I really do think that we could use your talents at marchetti — if this other idea doesn’t pan out. God, how amazing would it be for harrison to grow up with his big cousin lucy?

Daniel: Right. Yeah, but, I mean, I told you that heather and lucy, they’re in portugal for the foreseeable future.

Summer: Well, you are more than enough for now. I really cannot wait for you to meet harrison. Look at us. Making mom a grandma twice?

Daniel: Oh. Yes. Doesn’t that just sound like mom? Hmm? Can you just picture her as a sweet little innocent old granny?

[ Both laugh ]

Phyllis: Um, talia, I’m sorry. Uh, maybe you misunderstand. We’re just trying to expose the truth here. I mean, diane always has been a criminal. She’s a criminal, and she needs to be stopped.

Talia: I get that that’s your endgame, but in my business, the ends don’t justify the means. It’s looking to me like all you’re interested in now is hearsay, anything and everything that could hurt diane.

Nikki: Now, talia, we cannot forget who this woman is, the crimes she committed and very well may still be committing.

Talia: You’ve made your hatred of diane more than clear, but, frankly, enough is enough. I’m sorry. I’m a journalist, not a hatchet woman. Unless you have something solid, please don’t contact me again.

Lily: I mean, is there any way that you can work things out with amanda and find your way back to each other?

Devon: No, lily. She deserves a lot better than what I’ve done to her.

Lily: Well, I mean, I don’t disagree with you. But I thought you and abby were always solidly in the friendzone. It’s like, what, are you gonna be together now?

Devon: No, she’s trying to still work things out with chance, so I don’t see that happening.

Lily: Okay. Then why don’t you fly to virginia and try to work things out with amanda?

Devon: Because she’s made it very clear she doesn’t want me to do that, and it wouldn’t work even if I did. So, honestly, I don’t even know how I feel about the whole situation, aside from the fact that I hate that I’ve hurt somebody that I care about and that I love, and that I’ve essentially ruined a marriage. It’s now going to affect dominic.

Lily: Look, you can’t just blame yourself. Abby played a part in this, too.

Devon: Yeah. She was going through her own rough patch with chance.

Lily: Yeah, but still, I mean, it’s not just your fault. She chose to handle it the way that she did. You’re both responsible for this.

Devon: Oh, I know. I’m well aware. I’m well aware we acted on impulse, and I just feel like I’ve lost my grip on how to maintain relationships in my life that actually matter to me. What’s that look?

Lily: I don’t know. I just understand… how you feel about maintaining relationships. I feel like I’m losing my grip on my own relationship with billy.

Ashley: I can’t believe that you’re actually going to abandon me when I need you most.

Tucker: I’m not abandoning you. I’m just letting you take the lead on all the diane business.

Ashley: I thought you were a take-charge kind of guy, tucker.

Tucker: I am, but I’m also a “delegate when someone else has more expertise” type of guy.

Ashley: Then you do have more intimate knowledge where diane’s concerned, don’t you?

Tucker: But I think my feelings for her are not quite as passionate as yours are. I think you hate her more than I have hated anything or anyone in my entire life.

Ashley: Please. I find that very hard to believe. And don’t — don’t tell me this crap about how your time in the ashram gave you some kind of great love for humanity.

Tucker: I have every confidence that you and your merry band of co-conspirators can handle things without me. And I’m still here for you in case…other needs should come up for you.

Ashley: Yeah, well, I’m very disappointed because I was counting on you to help us make our next move regarding jeremy stark. Whatever happened to “your goals are my goals”? Remember when you said that? Because it wasn’t that long ago.

Tucker: I — I’m still on your side. It’s just that my immediate goals have shifted a bit.

Ashley: Uh-oh. What are you after?

Diane: Jack, the last thing I want is war. But I think this situation is too far gone for inaction. Believe me, jack, I would hate for things to get ugly for you and kyle. But I’m not the one driving this, they are.

Jack: No, believe me, I am upset with them, too, and I made that very clear to my sister.

Diane: The scariest part is that I have tried to impress upon ashley and tucker just how ruthless and dangerous jeremy stark can be. I have warned them not to poke that bear. But now ashley and her pals may provoke him simply to try to scare me away. They don’t understand what kind of a monster jeremy stark is and how he can lash out in ways that no one can control. Hi, my name is tony cooper, and I’m going to tell you about exciting medicare advantage plans that can provide broad coverage and still may save you money on monthly premiums and prescription drugs. How white do you think your teeth really are?

Diane: I am warning you, jack. Ashley’s little nasty trio has no idea of the hornet’s nest they’re kicking. And I would be remiss if i didn’t try my hardest not to prevent some terrible outcome.

Jack: Just how terrible are we talking here?

Diane: I’m not exaggerating about how dangerous he is. I mean, jeremy might have gone to jail for financial crimes, but he’s alluded to many darker acts without confessing to them.

Jack: Like what?

Diane: [ Sighs ] Well, when we were together, he would make these offhanded remarks about how bad things happen to people who crossed him.

Jack: Do you think it would make a difference if ashley knew she wasn’t dealing with just any white-collar criminal?

Diane: No. I doubt it. Her hatred of me has clouded her judgment, so I need to be prepared for the worst. And I’d be willing to take this on myself if I had to, but it’s the people that are closest to me that I’m worried about the most.

Jack: What, you think he’d come after your family, that kyle and harrison could be targets?

Diane: And maybe summer and you. And jeremy might still have the resources to attack jabot. Ashley would be putting the whole family and the business at a huge risk if she reaches out to that man.

Tucker: My focus has switched to supporting my son right now.

Ashley: What’s going on with devon?

Tucker: Oh, apparently chancellor-winters is in disarray ’cause the two coos jumped ship or were fired. And since he has much more business experience than lily, he’s essentially running this big corporation by himself now.

Ashley: I think you’re kind of selling lily short. So far, she’s made a terrific ceo. I mean, she has jill’s complete support.

Tucker: Nevertheless, I just feel like he needs my help. And I think it wouldn’t be wise if I were engaged in some subterfuge against some, uh, just released federal criminal simultaneously.

Ashley: Mm. Okay. Well, I get the whole parental drive, but, I mean, I think you’re making a mistake by easing up on diane. I mean, she did go to jack. And she told him that, you know, you were going after jabot.

Tucker: Yes, I know. I know. I know. Jack showed up at my door to confront me about that very thing.

Ashley: Ohh. Way to go, big brother. You do know that he wouldn’t be the only abbott that you’d have to contend with, right?

Tucker: Yes. I’m sure you’ll make a formidable opponent.

Ashley: You’re very blasé about this. Diane is your enemy, too.

Tucker: Mm.

Devon: So, what’s billy pulled this time?

Lily: No, billy hasn’t pulled anything. It’s just more like he’s slipping away.

Devon: Does it go hand in hand with him walking away from chancellor-winters?

Lily: I don’t know. I don’t know how or why the distance is building between us. I mean, it’s not like either one of us have done anything wrong, exactly.

Devon: Well, something must have happened.

Lily: All I remember is falling in love. You know, we worked so closely together, and it just felt so natural and — and right. And now that the working relationship is gone, it’s too. I mean, he has a new focus now. I wake up in the morning, he’s already gone, and it’s just becoming clear that I’m not a part of it.

Devon: I’m sorry.

Lily: Well, thank you for not saying “I told you so.” I know you warned me about him from the beginning.

Devon: Yeah, but I would never say that to you. Especially not now. Who am I to say anything to anybody about relationships?

Lily: I always take your words to heart. And I do listen to you, and i know that a lot of what you said has been true, but I’m not ready to give up, you know? I’m still gonna try to work on things.

Devon: Well, that’s good. That’s exactly what you should do if it’s what you want. I’ve only ever wanted you to be happy. So, if he does that for you, then you should always fight. Now, if he hurts you, though, I’m gonna —

[ Knock on door ] Yo, man, look who it is! Welcome back to town.

Daniel: Aww, thanks. It’s so good to see you.

Devon: You too.

Daniel: Lily.

Lily: Hi.

Daniel: Nice to see you again.

Lily: You too. I hope you had a good thanksgiving.

Daniel: Oh, yeah. No, it was great. It was fantastic. I spent most of it with my mother in a club.

Lily: Oh.

Devon: That’s very phyllis.

[ Laughter ]

Daniel: But, look, now that the holiday is over, I’m very excited to be meeting with you guys. So, thank you for fitting me into your schedules so quickly.

Devon: Yeah, absolutely. We’re excited to hear about this big idea you have.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Devon: By the way, thanks for agreeing to have the meeting here. We do have nice offices, i promise you, but baby dominic is being dropped off today.

Daniel: Oh, that’s right. I heard that you and abby and chance all have a kid together. That’s got to be pretty incredible. I mean, you’re gonna have to fill me in on all the details on how that happened.

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: Yeah, we’ll save th so, tell us about your business idea.

Daniel: Are we not gonna wait for billy?

Devon: No. He’s not gonna be, uh — he’s not gonna be joining us. He actually left the company not too long ago.

Lily: Yeah, so we’ll just get started. So, what’s your proposal?

Daniel: Okay. Um, like I already explained to lily, art is still very much a part of my being. It’s just, I no longer have the passion to paint on commission or to do gallery shows.

Devon: That’s too bad.

Daniel: Actually, it’s a positive thing. I’m caught up in this new energy. It’s like I feel like I want to put my talent towards something with a bigger payoff. And I’m not just talking financially. Like, I want to reach a much wider audience. You know, being a starving artist — it was fine and fun when I was younger, but not anymore.

Devon: Okay. So, what’s your plan then?

Daniel: A mega universe gaming platform.

Devon: Wow. That sounds cool. We don’t do gaming, though, at chancellor-winters.

Lily: Well, I mean, we could. We talked about it in the past. And, actually, chanccomm had a gaming division before we were sold to newman.

Daniel: That’s right. And that platform had 20 million daily active players. No reason why we couldn’t get 50 million.

Lily: No, no reason at all.

Daniel: No, no, no reason. I mean, it only takes a massive new universe of intertwined games, crossover, playable, and non-playable characters, and an actual point to playing — you know, not just to blow time, but to problem solve, to explore, to expand, to — to grow. I mean, I’m talking about games where you could actually fight your fears or conquer self-doubt. We’re talking about a universe, a universe where you will come out a better person than when you entered.

Lily: [ Laughs ] I mean, is that possible with video games?

Daniel: It is. It is. And if we partner on this, not only will we make money, but we’ll actually put something useful and worthwhile out into the world at the same time.

Devon: You really believe that, don’t you?

Daniel: Absolutely. I do. That’s why I came here — because I know that together we can make this happen.

Jack: I admit your warnings are worrisome. Precautions have to be taken. We have to protect the family and the company above all.

Diane: So, what are we going to do?

Jack: Well, ashley doesn’t listen to me any more than she listens to you, and if she thinks it’s not a real threat, then she’s gonna do what she’s gonna do. She always has.

Diane: Yeah, and if I know tucker, he’s throwing gasoline on ashley’s fire and making things even worse.

Jack: Well, that may be, but we have to focus on those who actually believe this is a real danger and want to do something about it. So kyle has to be told everything, including tucker’s demand that you give him information on jabot.

Diane: You’re right. You’re right. But I would like to be the one to tell him. I-I was going to do it anyway. I just — I just thought I would wait until after the holidays.

Jack: He needs to know now.

Diane: [ Sighs ] Alright. I will tell him today so that he can be on guard for potential attacks. I’m willing to do whatever it takes. This is about me trying to protect all of us from physical harm.

Jack: Good.

Diane: [ Sighs ] You know, it’s also about my commitment to my son and my grandson. After reconnecting with kyle and bonding with harrison, if I ran away now, I mean, it would be heartbreaking for everyone involved. They would think that I care more about self-preservation than being with them. And that’s not true. Not anymore. I will never abandon my family again. It’s not an option.

Tucker: Yeah, thank you for the warning about diane. I’m not surprised that she would take sides against me, but i just don’t see her as any kind of personal threat right now.

Ashley: Oh, because you’re so powerful?

Tucker: No. Because she’s so weak. I’m just sure that you and nikki and phyllis will send her packing very soon. You know, what I do find fascinating is how you’re taking her accusation about me going after jabot in such stride — ’cause jack was, well, not nearly as blasé as you’re being about it.

Ashley: Well, that’s because he believes her lies. He’s bought her story that you asked diane to get jabot’s financial information.

Tucker: But you trust me about that. That’s good. I’m gonna take that as a positive sign.

Ashley: Oh, don’t do that. See, what I was saying is that diane is lashing out irrationally, you know? She’s trying to lie her way out of everything, and I just don’t see you being foolish, you know? You wouldn’t be foolish and go after jabot, not when you gave the company back to my family all those years ago, right? And I don’t see you being stupid, right? Because, I mean, that would be so incredibly…

Tucker: Stupid. Yes.

Ashley: …Stupid of you to even try something like that.

Tucker: Yes.

Ashley: ‘Cause you must know that there’s no way in hell it could possibly happen.

Tucker: No way in hell, no.

Ashley: Right.

Tucker: But despite the, uh, ironclad logic of that argument, your brother has decided to assume the worst in me.

Ashley: Shucks. I guess you guys have history.

Tucker: Yeah. That’s true. I — I expect nothing less from jack. But you… you. I see you. No matter what you say, I sense — no, actually, scratch that. I — I truly believe that you’re starting to come around about me. You’re starting to realize that my intentions towards you are sincere, aren’t you? Hmm?

[ Plate scrapes ] You’re close. You are shockingly close to giving me a second chance. And you just don’t want to admit it, do you?

[ Fork clatters ] If you think all pads are exactly the same…

Lily: I mean, it’s a very interesting proposal.

Daniel: So, are you saying chancellor-winters might be interested?

Devon: Yeah, no, from a business standpoint, it makes a ton of sense just ’cause the gaming industry continues to blow up, especially with gen Z.

Lily: But what you are talking about is a huge undertaking.

Devon: Yeah. It’s not just an expansion. It’s gonna take a lot of research and development and market analysis.

Daniel: Mm-hmm. I’m gonna shoot you over some numbers. I want you to take a look at them when you’ve got some time. Now, listen, I’m telling you, with the infrastructure that you guys have, this is all doable.

Lily: I mean, to be fair, daniel, if we want to get into gaming, we could work with a company that’s already established.

Daniel: So, why me?

Devon: Pretty much.

Daniel: Because this is my sole focus. There isn’t a single person out there that could possibly want this more than me. I even have a passion project rolled in. It’s called “finding princess louisa.”

Lily: Oh, that sounds fun.

Daniel: The player will travel through this mythical, mystical landscape, and, uh, they’ll be searching for the missing princess. I even patterned the fearless heroine after my daughter.

Devon: Oh, wow. That’s really cool. Does lucy know? Has she seen it?

Daniel: No, not yet. She will. She will. But, look, getting back to the business aspects of this, parents — they are willing to spend a lot of money on products for their kids, especially if there’s an educational component to it.

Devon: Yeah, no, that’s — that’s very true. But this is — this is not a small step into the gaming world. This is — it’s not just a game. It’s a platform.

Daniel: Well, why think small? 50 million daily players. I’m telling you, it can be done.

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: I don’t know. I like it. I like it. It’s smart. It’s lucrative. And I think if it can help people, then it’s worth doing it right.

Daniel: Well, great. Fantastic.

Lily: [ Laughs ] I mean, I’m excited for you. I’m excited for all of us. This could be a huge opportunity. Maybe, uh — maybe little lucy is our little good luck charm.

Devon: [ Chuckles ]

Daniel: Yeah, she’s more than that. I mean, I have my daughter to thank for turning me on to gaming. You know, it’s given me a new direction and, um, a new purpose.

Tucker: Hey, audra, just checking in. Um, hope you’re making progress. Things are coming to a head here, so I think it’s time we make our move. See you later.

[ Cellphone thuds ]

Phyllis: She just walked out. I mean, we gave her gold. That would have been an amazing story, and she walked out on us.

Nikki: I can’t really blame her for leaving after you came on so strong.

Phyllis: Me? I came on strong? I was trying to keep her around. Well, we just have to find another reporter, one who gets it.

Nikki: I don’t know. I don’t know if that’s a good idea. I mean, she had a point. Publishing a story without proof would be irresponsible, and it could backfire. Diane might start looking even more sympathetic than she already is, and she’ll just say, “mean people arengPllis: Yeah, yeah. You’re right. You’re right. That’s what she does best. I can’t believe that she has dodged every bullet that we have fired at her. Every single one. She is a master manipulator.

Nikki: That woman is an affliction that cannot be wiped out no matter how hard we try.

Phyllis: No. That’s not true. She can be bested.

Nikki: I’m beginning to lose confidence.

Phyllis: Don’t lose confidence. We need to take a more drastic measure.

Diane: [ Voice breaking ] I will never make the same terrible mistake that I did before. Leaving kyle was the most devastating thing that I could have done to him. I can — I can see how much it cost him and how much pain that I put him through. Nothing and no one will ever pull me from my son or my grandson ever again.

Jack: I understand. I feel the same way. Protecting kyle and harrison is my top priority, but someone has to protect you.

Diane: [ Exhales sharply ]

Jack: I hate to admit it, but you’re right. Inaction is no longer an option.

Diane: Well, I’m glad you see that now.

Jack: Yeah, well, for the sake of your son and your grandson, I need you to rely on me to do everything I can to keep this from turning into a full-on battle.

Diane: I have complete trust in you. Thank you for standing up for me.

Jack: Hey. Hey.

Diane: [ Sobbing ]

[ Door slams ]

[ Sniffles ] How white do you think your teeth really are?

Daniel: I got to tell you, i knew coming back to genoa city was gonna be the right decision. And this is gonna be an incredible opportunity. And I am so excited to start working with you guys.

Devon: Yeah, so are we. We’re excited to learn about this new universe you’ve created.

Daniel: Oh, you’re gonna love it.

[ Laughter ] And the profits.

Lily: Oh, we don’t doubt it.

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: So, I guess you’re sticking around town a little bit longer?

Daniel: Yes, I am. I mean, thanks to you, I have a ton more work to do. Um, so, I should probably get to it.

[ Laughter ] Good seeing you guys.

Lily: Alright. See ya.

Devon: Take it easy.

Daniel: Yeah. Thanks, man.

Devon: You got it. Good to see you, man.

[ Door closes ]

Devon: He made a great pitch, huh?

Lily: Yeah, he did. Did he seem like himself to you?

Devon: Yeah, he did. He’s definitely passionate about this project, you know? He’s clearly emotionally invested in it.

Lily: Yeah, you’re right. Maybe that’s what happens when we get older — things are more urgent when you know what’s at stake.

Nikki: What kind of drastic measure are you talking about?

Phyllis: Mm, well, jeremy stark — he was released from prison yesterday, right?

Nikki: Yes, I am well aware of that. Aren’t you the least bit concerned about making contact with a hardened criminal?

Phyllis: We’re not in danger. Only diane is.

Nikki: We’re not out to put her in any physical danger, either.

Phyllis: Okay. En jeremy stark being in town is enough to send diane packing and going somewhere else and creating a fake identity or whatever she does. Who cares? We’re running out of options. It’s time we got in touch with diane’s ex.

Diane: Thanks for your support, jack, but I should get going.

Ashley: How in the world did you become so completely irrational where that woman is concerned?

Jack: I could say the same thing to you. When did tucker mccall’s words suddenly become gospel?

Ashley: There’s a big difference, jack. When it comes to tucker and me, I’m not the one being played.

Jack: You’ve taken it too far, ashley. My family is now in potential danger.

Ashley: You are in danger! You are in danger right now, succumbing to diane again!

Jack: You go to war with diane, you’re going to war with me. Is that what you want?

Noah: Is that because I’m hilarious, and you’re working on cultivating your sense of humor?

Allie: Oh, there you go, making jokes again, whereas I live on the land of logic and reason.

Noah: Mm.

Allie: I’m just saying we balance each other out.

Noah: Yeah, that’s true. I do like when you get creative, though, like that one time you got real creative when Jack left the house, and we had it all to ourselves.

Allie: Oh. You have to stop.

Noah :And you went into the kitchen. You whipped up that great dinner. What’d you think I was talking about? Oh, you’re bad. Yeah.

Phyllis: Okay, I got here as fast as I could. I didn’t even know you were in town.

Amanda: Yeah, I just — i just got in today.

Phyllis: Okay. What happened?

Amanda: Well, I came to talk to Devon. You know, I wanted to surprise him because I’ve been gone for so long. But I got a surprise because he was naked on the couch with Abby

****************************************

Phyllis: Wait, wait. You saw Devon with Abby?

Amanda: Mm-hmm, and it was perfect timing. Perfect timing, you know? I walk in the door after months of being gone, and the first thing that I see is that.

Phyllis: Well, I mean, were they — were they actually —

Amanda: Having sex? Yes. There is no doubt. I saw what I saw, and Devon admitted it, so…

Phyllis: What?! Why Abby?

Amanda: Oh, well, Devon claimed that they were really upset and they needed comforting, so it just happened.

Phyllis: Oh, it just happened? Really? She just happened to be naked? He just happened to —

Amanda: Yeah, pretty much.

Phyllis: Yeah. Okay.

Amanda: Pretty much, yeah. And he also repeated it half a dozen times just so that I could get the message.

Phyllis: Seriously? I mean, he’s with you. I-I thought he was a good guy, that he was the only one in this town left with integrity.

Nick: Okay, well, then I got to ask. You just got back from a wonderful honeymoon in a tropical paradise with the man you love. Why do you look miserable?

Summer: [Scoffs] Wow. Thanks for the compliment.

Nick: Not an insult, just an observation.

Summer: No, I mean, the trip was perfect in every way, both before and after Harrison joined us.

Nick: Did something happen after you came home? Because I know this face, and that’s not the “happy supergirl” face.

Tucker: Sure. I’m happy to tell you anything you want to know. Should we order our drink first?

Ashley: Why don’t we wait and see how forthcoming you are, and then I’ll decide how thirsty I am.

Tucker: Fair enough. Diane and I had a completely chance encounter in Los Angeles. And, of course, I was stunned. There she is, alive. But not only that, she actually looked happy and healthy and a far cry from the bitter and vengeful woman that we all thought was dead. So, naturally, I was curious about her story. I wanted to know how she pulled off her murder. She just seemed like a completely different person than the one I knew in Genoa City. So anyway, she tells me that her new mission in life is to try to find a way to get Kyle to forgive her, to reestablish their relationship.

It’s just the pain was so heavy, I couldn’t feel those wonderful things through all the sadness. It was a scary, terrible time for me. I was feeling desperate and alone with nowhere to turn. Billy: I knew it.

Lily: You knew what?

Billy: Well, you were gonna get me on the dance floor and you were gonna want to take me home.

Lily: Oh, really? Or maybe I just want to take you home so you can stop embarrassing yourself.

Billy: “Potayto,” “potahtoe.”

Nate: Trick or treat.

[Chuckles]

Victoria: Nate. Happy Halloween.

[Chuckles] Come on in.

Nate: Thanks. You know, I almost forgot it was Halloween until I saw your security guard downstairs dressed as
Frankenstein.

Victoria: Oh, yes, that’s — that’s Donny. The only problem is he dresses that way year-round.

Nate: Well, it’s good to see someone with holiday spirit. I’ve been wrapped up in my own head lately.

Tessa: So, what kind of turnout can we expect?

Sharon: Well, it’s been a pretty rough year for a lot of folks, so I would be prepared for a big crowd.

Nick: Don’t worry about the food. New hope’s got you covered there. There’s going to be mounds of it for the guests.

Mariah: Wow, look at that. Ashland locke managed to do some good in this world despite himself.

Sharon: Well, that huge donation he made to new hope in rey’s honor, I will always be grateful for.

Nick: Before we begin with the food prep, um, I come bearing gifts. Christian wanted to contribute, so he made, uh, you know, decorations.

Mariah: That’s adorable.

Nick: Yeah, he wanted to bring them by himself, but he is staying home so he can make thanksgiving cards.

Sharon: Oh, so that’s what noah meant when he said he had to supervise an art project.

Nick: Yeah, they’ll be here later. Except for faith’S. I told her I’d take a picture of hers and make sure she gets it today.

Sharon: Oh, our sweet girl. I miss her so much. But, you know, it’s great that she’s such close friends with her roommate that she decided to go home with her for the holiday.

Victoria: Happy thanksgiving.

Sharon: Happy thanksgiving.

Together: Hi.

Sharon: I’m so glad you decided to join us. You know, we were just about to get started setting up.

Victoria: Oh, excellent. Well, put us to work.

Nick: Looks like you’re short a couple hands. Where’s katie?

Victoria: Oh, well, she actually decided to go to the ranch and help the cook with dinner there.

Johnny: I want to know what part she’s “helping” with before I eat it.

[ Laughter ]

Nick: Yeah, I wonder if she’s going to get your mom’s skills in the kitchen.

Victoria: Well, at least i know how to make a reservation.

[ Laughter ]

Chelsea: Hey, everybody.

Nick: Hey.

Sharon: Hi, you two.

Connor: Hey, there.

Chelsea: We’d like to volunteer. We have a dinner, but it’s not till later, so we’d like to donate our time since we have so much to be thankful for.

Abby: I hope this table’s okay.

Nikki: Oh, darling, it’s perfect. We’re just having coffee.

Abby: Great. I will have someone bring it over.

Victor: I didn’t know that you would still be here.

Abby: Well, we are sold out for a holiday dining event, and I wanted to be here to personally oversee all the details.

Victor: I see, I see. Well, I’m sure it’ll be a great success.

Abby: Well, I’m surprised to see the both of you here. I thought you’d be getting everything ready for the family gathering.

Nikki: Well, you know how your father is. He can’t stay away from newman even on a holiday.

Victor: What are you talking about? Speak for yourself. I know that you checked up on your office.

Nikki: Guilty as charged.

Victor: Right.

Nikki: So we’re just going to relax a bit before heading back to the ranch.

Victor: Of course, we’re looking forward to seeing you later with chance and our grandson.

Abby: Yeah, um, to be honest, chance and i are having some problems, so we won’t be spending the day together.

Victor: Huh. Sorry to hear that.

Nikki: I hope you’ll be able to work things out.

Abby: Thank you. Thank you for your concern. Um…I don’t want to get into the details right now, so, uh, if you’ll excuse me.

Nikki: You had no idea about this?

Victor: I have no clue.

Phyllis: Ah.

[ Screams ] Daniel! Oh, my gosh.

Daniel: Mom.

Phyllis: Oh!

Daniel: Happy thanksgiving.

Phyllis: Happy thanksgiving to you. Look at you. Very nice.

Daniel: Oh, thank you.

Phyllis: Okay.

Daniel: Okay.

Phyllis: Yeah. I didn’t know you were coming back into town. Why didn’t you tell me?

Daniel: I wanted to surprise you.

Phyllis: Oh, you did.

Daniel: It’s a good surprise?

Phyllis: Yes, it’s a great surprise. My baby boy. My baby boy. Ah.

Traci: [ Chuckles ]

Kyle: Harrison is upstairs decorating turkey handprints.

Ashley: Cute.

Summer: He is so excited to be here with everyone today.

Jack: Yeah, he’s not the only one.

Allie: I am thrilled to be spending my first thanksgiving with my new family.

Traci: And we are so thrilled to have you here with us.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Doorbell rings ]

Kyle: I’ll get it.

Ashley: I think it’s so fantastic that we’re all here together. All of us loved ones sharing this day, it makes me happy.

Traci: It is fantastic, and the more the merrier, right?

Jack: I’m just so glad you could all be here.

Diane: Happy thanksgiving, everyone.

Abby: I wasn’t expecting to see you today.

Devon: I know. Tucker wanted to meet and have a holiday meal together, so we thought we’d beat the rush.

Abby: Well, I’m glad. Things have been so chaotic since…what happened. And, um…I don’t know. Something about seeing your face, it just makes me feel more calm.

Devon: I’m glad I can do something good for you. Have, uh, things gotten any better at all with chance?

Abby: No, um, I’m pretty sure it’s over. He moved out of the house. I don’t even know where he’s staying. He only comes by to see dominic when he knows I’m not going to be there.

Devon: I’m sorry.

Victor: I really thought chance was a good match for her. What the hell happened?

Nikki: I’m sure you’ll find out soon enough. But abby made it clear today is not the day to have that conversation. So patience, darling.

Sharon: That’s so sweet of you guys to want to help. We would love to have you.

Chelsea: Well, it seems like a great way to celebrate the holiday. Plus, it’s the least I can do, considering I’m living right upstairs now.

Victoria: You are?

Chelsea: Yeah, sharon’s the new landlady. Mariah and tessa moved to the tack house, so sharon offered me their old place. So where can we start?

Sharon: Well, you can help me with something in the back, and, connor, why don’t you take this box of decorations out to the patio?

Connor: Sure.

Nick: Don’t forget these.

Chelsea: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: Here you go, dude.

Sharon: And, victoria, if you wouldn’t mind rolling silverware sets into napkins, that would be a really big help. And, johnny, why don’t you have connor on the patio?

Johnny: Sure.

Sharon: Okay, well, let’s get to it, everybody.

Mariah: Alright.

Victoria: You okay?

Connor: Yeah. Fine. But I should go get started.

Victoria: Okay. Sharon gave chelsea the apartment upstairs. When did this happen? What did I miss?

Nick: I don’t know. Chelsea said sharon’s been incredibly kind and generous to her. Maybe just chalk it up to holiday spirit.

Victoria: Maybe. But it seems like there might be more to it than just that.

Connor: I need to talk to you about something so you’ll be cool around my mom. Not say anything mean to her.

Johnny: I was just planning on avoiding her. What’s going on?

Connor: Things were worse than I thought. Mom got super depressed and had to go into a hospital.

Johnny: Hospital?

Connor: I think she’s better. They wouldn’t have let her out otherwise. Dad let me stay over last night and she seems okay, but she takes a lot of deep breaths like she’s stressed out. I know she’s trying real hard to act normal.

Johnny: When I found out she was my biological mother, I completely freaked out. Acted like a total jerk to her.

Connor: I get it. You were worried things might change. So was I.

Johnny: I completely froze out chelsea. I didn’t mean for anything like this to happen.

Connor: I felt the same way and talked to my mom about it. Like, what brought this on.

Johnny: Yeah? And?

Connor: She keeps saying it wasn’t any one thing, and it’s definitely not about you or me.

Johnny: But is that really true?

[ Sighs ]

Mariah: You got it?

Sharon: Hey.

Billy: Hi.

Sharon: Wow, more helping hands. Excellent.

Lily: Yeah, thanks. Of course. How can we help?

Sharon: Why don’t you ask victoria?

Billy: Okay.

Victoria: Hey. Happy thanksgiving. Um, are charlie and mattie home?

Lily: Uh, no. They’re staying in new york.

Victoria: Oh, well, I’m sure you must miss them terribly.

Lily: Uh, yeah, but I tell myself there’s always christmas.

Billy: I got your text. So, uh, johnny’s here, but katie’s already at the ranch?

Victoria: Yeah, she sent me the cutest message, wearing an apron. Here’s a picture of it. I’m not sure what she’s making.

[ Chuckles ]

Billy: Oh, lordy.

Lily: Uh, you know, will you excuse me? Chelsea, hi.

Chelsea: Hey, lily. Happy thanksgiving.

Lily: Thank you. You, too. Um, I haven’t seen you since I heard the news, and I just had some things that I wanted to say. Moderate to severe eczema still disrupts my skin.

Phyllis: How long has it been since you’ve been home with your mother?

Daniel: Way too long.

Phyllis: Wa-a-a-y too long. That’s the correct answer. Way too long. But I’m glad you’re here now. Mm-hmm.

Daniel: You’re usually not this sentimental.

Phyllis: Oh, I’m not?

Daniel: No, you’re not.

Phyllis: Last year sucked for me. It was horrible. You were gone. Summer was across the ocean with her own family. I was all alone. But you’re here. It’s a good reason to give thanks.

Daniel: I’m a little surprised that you wanted to meet here. I figured you’d want to go to some fancy restaurant and have a proper meal.

Phyllis: Really? I don’t want to do that.

Daniel: No?

Phyllis: No.

Daniel: You sure?

Phyllis: Who are you talking to? Who are you talking to? Let’s have chinese. I’ll do that.

Daniel: Yeah?

Phyllis: Let’s have chinese. Let’s go out. Let’s go out to, um, that place that you always used to go to — I’ve never been there — in burlington.

Daniel: You want to go to the place in burlington?

Phyllis: [ Chuckles ] Yes. Do I?

Daniel: Okay.

Phyllis: But let’s go have fun, and then maybe we can meet up with summer for dessert or something after she does her thing with the abbott family.

Daniel: [ Laughs ]

Phyllis: And, uh, how’s that sound?

Daniel: Sounds perfect.

Phyllis: Good.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ]

Abby: I’m sorry. I’m not trying to make this all about me. How are you doing?

Devon: Well, I’m — I’m hanging in there. I don’t want you worrying about me at all, though. You have enough on your plate.

Victor: Hello, devon.

Nikki: Hi.

Devon: Mr. And mrs. Newman, hello.

Victor: Happy thanksgiving.

Devon: Happy thanksgiving.

Nikki: Good to see you. Thank you.

Devon: Good to see you, as well.

Abby: Are you taking off?

Victor: Yeah. Got to go.

Abby: Okay, I will walk you out.

Victor: Alright.

Devon: Take care.

Nikki: Good to see you.

Victor: Devon, nice to see you.

Devon: Yeah, you, as well.

Abby: I am so sorry, but I’m going to have to skip the family dinner tonight.

Nikki: Oh, darling, are you sure?

Victor: You can still come without chance.

Abby: I know, but I just feel like, with everything going on, I’m just going to bury myself in work and spend the rest of the day with dominic. But we will stop by the ranch to see you guys soon. Or, if you’d like, dominic’s there at our place with the nanny if you want to stop and see him on your way home.

Nikki: Well, we just might do that. But we understand. Don’t worry about it.

Abby: Thank you. Um, I’m going to get back to work, but happy thanksgiving.

Victor: You, too, sweetheart.

Abby: Mwah. I love you. Happy thanksgiving.

Nikki: Happy thanksgiving.

Tucker: Hello, there. Nice to see you both.

Nikki: We were just leaving.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ] Oh, hey, by the way, uh, I understand that ashley passed along the information about diane. I assume you’re pleased to get that and, uh, will be putting it to good use.

Nikki: Hopefully, it will encourage her to bid farewell to genoa city. We’ll just have to see.

Victor: You know, tucker mccall, I think we’d all be better off when you and diane get the hell out of town.

Tucker: Well, I hate to disappoint you, victor, but I have a couple more things to accomplish here. But, uh, happy thanksgiving.

Victor: Hey, tucker, you just remember I’m watching you.

Allie: Guys, there are so many pies in the kitchen.

Jack: Yeah, we abbotts take our desserts very seriously.

Kyle: Along with every other course.

Diane: I’m sure every bite will be divine.

Ashley: I’ll take this bottle back with the rest of them.

Kyle: Allie, what were some of your traditions growing up?

Allie: For thanksgiving, uh, let’s see.

Diane: Obviously, ashley isn’t thrilled that I’m here. I hope she can refrain on stirring up any trouble today of all days.

Jack: I agree. I have already warned her to cool it on the antagonism.

Diane: I appreciate that.

Jack: Please don’t read too much into that. Things are not completely resolved, as I see it.

Diane: I know I have a long way to go to get back into your good graces.

Traci: Hey, everybody, look who’s here.

[ Chuckles ]

Summer: Aww.

Harrison: Happy turkey day!

Jack: Happy turkey day, indeed.

Summer: Happy thanksgiving.

[ Laughter ]

Summer: Oh, my gosh.

Jack: Look at that.

Summer: Awesome. ()

Lily: I really hope that you’re doing better.

Chelsea: Thank you, lily. That’s very kind. I appreciate the support.

Lily: So how are things going so far?

Chelsea: Um, I’m taking it day by day. I was in crisis. It was crucial that I got the help that I needed. I really can’t thank billy enough. He truly saved my life.

Billy: Hey.

Johnny: We can stop pretending. I know chelsea went to the hospital because she was seriously depressed. It was bad. Connor filled me in.

Billy: Okay, well, now that you know, how do you feel?

Johnny: I think the crappy way I’ve been treating her ever since I found out that she was my bio mom may have really hurt her.

Billy: I know for certain that chelsea doesn’t feel that way, okay, and she would not want you to think that way, not for a second.

Johnny: Maybe not, but I still feel bad about it.

Billy: Mm-hmm.

Johnny: I’d like to talk to her if you think that’d be okay.

Billy: I’m okay with it.

Victoria: If it’s that important to you.

Johnny: It is. And I’d like to do it now before a ton of people come for dinner and we’re all too busy.

Billy: You want me to come with you?

Johnny: Dad, no. Come on. No offense. Sorry.

Billy: Okay, yeah. None taken.

Johnny: [ Sighs ] Excuse me, could I talk to chelsea a sec?

Lily: Yeah, of course. Um, I have to get back to work anyway, but I’m really glad that you’re doing better.

Chelsea: Thanks. Have a seat, johnny.

Connor: Thanks. What would you like to talk about?

Billy: I know this comes as a shock to you.

Victoria: Yes. Poor chelsea. I had no idea she was in such a fragile state. How serious was this?

Billy: About as serious as it gets. We’re lucky to have her with us still. That first 72 hours in the hospital were crucial, but she’s doing better. I can tell she’s on a good path now.

Victoria: Well, I’m relieved to hear that, but why am I finding this out from johnny now instead of you?

Diane: Harrison, I just love my turkey handprint. I’m going to hang it on my mirror so I can enjoy it every day.

Kyle: Ooh, you hear that, buddy? Your turkeys are a hit. Great job.

Traci: They are. Every single one is just beautiful.

Allie: Yeah, harrison, you might be a little picasso.

Summer: It looks like we’ve got a few extras.

Traci: Nope, no extras. The red one is for phyllis. The pink one is for abby.

Summer: Aww.

Diane: Speaking of phyllis, how is she spending her holiday?

Summer: My brother daniel is in town, so she’s spending the day with him, and I’m going to catch up with them later.

Diane: Sounds nice.

Kyle: What about abby? What’s she up to today?

Ashley: She’s at society, helping with the preparations for their special thanksgiving event. Then she’s going over to the ranch for dinner, and, of course, I’ll be squeezing in some time for them both later, her and dominic.

Diane: I’m sure they’d love to see you.

Ashley: Because that’s what a mother does. I mean, a good mother manages to spend as much time as she can with her child.

Jack: Will noah be dropping by.

Allie: Yes, yes. He’s coming in right after he makes the rounds with the newmans.

Jack: Well, I hope he likes pie.

Allie: Oh, god, yes. He loves anything sweet.

Jack: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, clearly he does.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Oh, excuse me.

Ashley: Do you think that when noah gets here, we can swap him out for diane and just tell her there’s not enough room at the table?

Traci: Ashley, come on. It’s thanksgiving. I’m begging you.

Jack: I just got a text from billy. They are taking part in the annual thanksgiving dinner for the homeless at crimson lights. He and lily say they’re running late, and they don’t know when they’re going to get here. Or, as billy says, “don’t let that bird get cold.”

[ Laughter ] So…dinner is served.

Kyle: Hey, hey, let’s do it.

Diane: Let’s go get some dinner.

Kyle: Hey, we’re going to go eat.

Diane: Come on.

Kyle: Oh, come on. Alright, come on. For people who are a little intense about hydration.

“The young and the restless”

will continue. What happens to your body language

Billy: It wasn’t my story to tell. I mean, that circle of trust was very small. It was sharon and i and, of course, chelsea.

Victoria: Well, I guess that explains why she’s been going out of her way for chelsea lately.

Billy: Sharon? Yeah, she’s been amazing, and her professional experience has been a godsend. And she agrees that this is chelsea’s story and she can choose when and how she wants to share it.

Victoria: Makes sense.

Billy: Look, if it makes you feel any better, adam and connor and lily, they only found out about this yesterday.

Victoria: And now johnny knows. I-I feel sorry for chelsea, and I don’t want to see her suffer, but our son has to be my top priority.

Billy: Absolutely.

Victoria: Just how much has connor told him? What’s chelsea saying to him now? And how’s this going to affect things moving forward?

Billy: I know that chelsea was pretty open with connor, but it doesn’t seem like connor got into the details with johnny.

Victoria: This is heavy stuff for kids that age.

Billy: It is. I’m worried about him, as well, okay, but some of this is out of our control. We just have to be there for johnny as he processes all of this.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] I suppose.

Billy: I mean, look at him. He seems to be handling it with empathy and maturity. Maybe we should follow his lead.

Connor: Anyway, I know it really hurt you with the way i reacted when mom and dad told me the truth about how we’re…related, and as upset as I was, I shouldn’t have gone after you like that. So I’m really sorry if it messed you up, and I hope you’re okay now.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Johnny, thank you for saying that. That means so much to me. But [Sighs] You need to know none of this is your problem. You are not to blame. I really owe you an apology for ever putting you in an awkward position. And you have to believe me when I tell you that what happened to me was the result of a lot of things going on in my life. You know, I just went through a rough patch, but I’m better now.

Johnny: Really?

Chelsea: Really. Yeah. And I need you to know, I think you’re a great kid with terrific parents.

[ Chuckles ] And you’ve always been so kind to connor, and that truly means the world to me. So I’m just hoping…

[ Sighs ] I’m hoping, going forward, we can be friends.

Lily: Hey, I think it’s so great that everyone’s rallying around chelsea.

Sharon: Yeah, she really needs it right now.

Lily: Yeah, billy told me how much you’ve done for her since that night, and that must be such a good feeling.

Sharon: I’m happy that i could be there for chelsea, yeah. But, you know, you deserve a lot of credit, too.

Lily: For what?

Sharon: For the way you’ve hung in there with billy. He’s spent a lot of time helping chelsea these past few days. He’s put a lot of energy into that, and that had to be confusing for you if not frustrating.

Lily: [ Chuckles ] Well, I mean, that was then and this is now, so, hopefully, things will be calmer from here on out.

Daniel: You know, I heard that you have been knocking it out of the park at marchetti.

Phyllis: Mm.

Daniel: And how great is it that you and summer get to work together?

Phyllis: Yeah, that’s super fun.

Daniel: Mm?

Phyllis: Ah, we’ve been talking about me nonstop. I want to talk about you. There’s so much — you know, we have just been texting. We have not really spoken voice-to-voice, okay, and I know there are some details that I’m missing out on.

Daniel: Ah, what details? Come on.

Phyllis: Details. You know. What’s going on with you? So, lucy and heather, where are they?

Daniel: Well, heather got a short-term gig working as a lawyer for this american company in portugal. She took lucy with her.

Phyllis: Portugal?

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Interesting. You didn’t go with them?

Daniel: Eh, you know, I figured it’d be a good experience for lucy to spend some time abroad. And, look, I had a ton of stuff that I needed to take care of that couldn’t wait.

Phyllis: Yeah, like what?

Tucker: I’m delighted you were able to accept my invitation. I figured you and lily would’ve had plans.

Devon: No, nothing big. She’s just going to come hang at my place a little later.

Tucker: Nice. Now, it’s been too many years since you and I shared a holiday. That’s on me, of course.

Devon: Nah, you know what? It’s not on anybody. It’s just the way things are.

Tucker: You know, I’d like things to be different from now on, maybe be a more regular part of your life.

[ Sneezing ] Are you okay?

Abby: Um, maybe that table over there would be good?

Elena: Maybe we should go somewhere else.

Nate: Nope, we’re not going to play it like that.

Elena: Are you sure about that?

Nate: Baby, this is your favorite restaurant. We’re not going to run away because my cousin happens to be in the same room. Excuse me. Hello. Good to see you two.

Devon: Not really.

Nate: Can’t we at least be civil to one another on thanksgiving?

Tucker: See, I don’t think thanksgiving means giving a free pass to someone who stabbed you in the back. What you were planning to do to your family’s just reprehensible. And I don’t foresee devon forgiving you anytime soon, if ever.

Nate: You finished?

Tucker: Hey, man, you made your choice. If you regret it, that’s your problem. You deal with it. You’re going to leave devon alone now.

Phyllis: There’s more to the story, right?

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] Yeah.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Daniel: I had a feeling I wasn’t going to be able to hide anything from you.

Phyllis: What “anything”? What?

Daniel: Let’s just say that things with heather have been a bit rocky, and they have been for a while, I mean, before the whole trip came up. Look, I really don’t want to get into it. Not right now, anyway.

Phyllis: Okay. Well, I mean, everything seemed like it was okay in june when I saw you.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Alright. Well, I’m not going to push. I won’t do that. But, uh… I am here for you. I am always here for you. Okay? And your sister, she is here for you. And whatever you need, just call me, okay?

Daniel: [ Sighs ]

Phyllis: Hey, what are your big plans, by the way?

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] Well, I’m thinking of starting a new chapter of my life. I’ve been channeling my talents in a new direction.

Phyllis: Oh, my goodness. A new direction. Wow. I like hearing this, even though you haven’t told me anything.

Daniel: Well…

[ Both chuckle ]

Phyllis: Well, that is reason to celebrate. Clink.

Daniel: Cheers.

Jack: While we are waiting for the first course, I thought we might go around the table and each say what we are most thankful for today. I think it’d be a good example for harrison. Who wants to go first?

Ashley: I will. I am so grateful for my family and how unified we all are.

Jack: Traci?

Traci: I am so blessed by all of you lovely people who love me and support me every single day.

Allie: I’ll go next. I am so thankful for finding this wonderful family after losing my dad.

Kyle: Summer and harrison.

Summer: Kyle and harrison.

[ Laughter ]

Traci: Harrison, what about you, honey? What are you the most thankful for?

Harrison: Mashed potatoes.

[ Laughter ]

Jack: Diane, would you like to say something?

Diane: Oh, um, I’m grateful for kyle and being able to be reunited with him. And for my amazing grandson, harrison.

[ Chuckles ] And just for being allowed to be part of this family.

Traci: Well, everybody, your words had been quite moving, but I have to admit harrison is my absolute favorite. So extra mashed potatoes for my friend over there.

[ Laughter ]

Harrison: Yay!

Jack: I asked for no conflict today. Just today.

Ashley: There is no conflict, jack. I suggest you tell diane not to get too comfy here.

Allie: I want several.

Jack: Everybody get some rolls?

Traci: Oh, yes. Would you like some?

Jack: Yeah, I would love. I tried everything to remove fabric odors,

Nick: Alright, the line’s already. Halfway down the block. We’re going to open up the doors soon.

Sharon: Wow. Good work, everyone.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Nick: My man, connor, and I, we need an extra set of hands to get the food out of the catering van.

Lily: I’ll help.

Nick: Alright, alright, lily, let’s go.

Lily: [ Chuckles ]

Mariah: Okay, so what else do you need from us?

Sharon: How about an update? That young woman, joss, who’s been considering you as adoptive parents for her baby. What’s the latest? I know that you were anxious to hear more from her.

Tessa: Well, we were going to wait to tell you until after the holiday, but last night we got an e-mail from her, and, apparently, her cousin will be taking the child after the birth.

Sharon: [ Gasps ] Wow. That’s disappointing. I’m so sorry.

Mariah: Yeah, so are we. But she was really nice about it. And she said that she was so impressed with us, and if it had been anybody but family, then she would’ve picked us.

Tessa: Which means a lot.

Mariah: Yeah. I think it gives us some hope.

Sharon: Well, I’m glad you’re staying positive, and you’ll connect with the right birth mother soon.

Mariah: Well, christine prepared us. You know, she said that this possibly wouldn’t work out, and we knew that adoption was going to be a tough road.

Tessa: But the day that we finally bring home our baby, it’ll all be worth it.

Victoria: How did your talk with chelsea go?

Johnny: Good. I told her that I was sorry to hear how sad she was and that i never wanted to add to any of it.

Victoria: What did she say?

Johnny: She said that it had nothing to do with me. And she’s okay now.

[ Sighs ] I’m really glad I talked to her. It was the right thing to do.

Victoria: I’m very proud of you, son. I’m proud of you for being compassionate, for following your heart.

Billy: So, you’re quite the center of attention today.

Chelsea: Everyone has been so kind. You will not hear me complaining.

Billy: Well, that’s good. How’d your conversation with johnny go.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] He was so sweet. He apologized for how he treated me and asked how I was doing. I told him I’m better and that he’s not to blame for any of this.

Billy: That’s good to hear. How much do you think he knows?

Chelsea: Just the bare bones, that I was depressed and spent a few days in the hospital. Nothing about…

Billy: Right. Okay.

Chelsea: I think it was, um… I think it was really positive for both of us.

Billy: Well, that’s good. Um, what do you got planned for the rest of the day?

Chelsea: Connor and I have dinner without adam, actually.

Billy: Alright. Well, if you’re still up for some pumpkin, uh, you can come by devon’s for dessert. Unless, of course, you’re on pumpkin overload, then you can come for the conversation and hang out, if you’d like.

Chelsea: Oh, thank you, billy. That’s a very nice offer.

Billy: Yeah.

Chelsea: I don’t know how the evening will unfold, but I will keep that in mind.

Nate: I really wish that would’ve gone differently. I wanted today to be extra special since I blew it last night with our dinner date.

Elena: Yeah, I’m not really concerned about that right now. After the way tucker just laid into you, how worried should I be?

Nate: Do not worry. I can handle tucker mccall.

Elena: He had no right speaking to you that way. This didn’t happen to him, and I don’t care that he’s devon’s father. He hasn’t been a real parent to him in ages. You and devon need to work this out on your own without tucker’s unwanted interference. Why are you smiling?

Nate: I was just thinking that I am so incredibly lucky to have you by my side.

Elena: [ Sighs ]

Devon: I appreciate you speaking up for me like that, but you don’t have to. I can always fight my own battles.

Tucker: I — I know that, and I’m sorry. I just couldn’t help myself.

Devon: Alright.

Tucker: Oh, uh, be right back. Hey, you.

Ashley: Hi. Happy thanksgiving.

Tucker: Yeah, you, too.

Ashley: Have you seen abby?

Tucker: No, but I’m sure she’s back there somewhere. You okay? You seem a little worked up.

Ashley: [ Sighs ] I was forced to sit down and share a meal with diane today.

Tucker: [ Snickers ]

Ashley: Yeah, exactly. So I just needed to get some fresh air.

Tucker: Yeah, it went that well, eh?

Ashley: I can’t take it anymore. It’s time to bring that bitch down.

Traci: [ Chuckles ] Well, I am so sorry that ashley had to leave, but I know she wanted to spend time with abby and dominic.

Summer: It’s totally understandable.

Jack: Well, ashley is just going to miss out on a fabulous final toast.

Traci: [ Laughs ]

Kyle: [ Chuckling ] If dad does say so himself.

Jack: Seriously, I was just sitting here, thinking that john and dina sat at this very table for so many thanksgivings, and though I wish they were here with us now, I know they are smiling down on us because there is another generation at the table, their great grand children the sign of a growing family, the sign of an ongoing legacy. Everybody, grab a glass. One last toast.

Traci: [ Chuckles ]

Jack: [ Voice breaking ] To family. To love and loyalty. To kindness and compassion. And most of all, today, to gratitude that we can all be here together on this blessed thanksgiving day. And to many more family holidays and gatherings to come.

Diane: Aww.

Jack: Happy thanksgiving.

Together: Happy thanksgiving.

Summer: Here, here.

Traci: Well said, jack.

Kyle: Cheers. Cheers.

Next week on

“the young and the restless”…

Diane: I am just so touched that you’d stand up for me that way. I hope you know it means everything to me.

Kyle: Am I interrupting something?

Summer: You went to work with chancellor-winters?

Daniel: Thinking of a new career. It might just be a game changer.

Victor: What’d you do to my daughter?

Daniel: Lily. [ Chuckles ]

Lily: Oh, my god!

Daniel: Oh, look at you.

Lily: Wow, it’s so good to see you. What are you doing here?

Daniel: I’ve come to spend thanksgiving with my mother and summer.

Lily: Oh, wow. That’s amazing.

Daniel: Mm-hmm. This is a wonderful surprise. I mean, I came here to get some takeout. The place seems like it has a pretty good vibe.

Lily: Yeah. Abby has done such a great job with this place. Wait, are heather and lucy with you?

Daniel: Actually, they’re in europe.

Lily: Oh. Okay. You’re not spending the holidays together?

Daniel: No, no. Um, heather got a short-term gig working for the legal team of this american company in portugal. So, you know, she had to go, and we just figured it’d be a great experience for lucy to go with her and spend a few months there.

Lily: Wow. That’s really nice. She’s gonna love that.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Lily: I’m sure you miss them like crazy.

Daniel: You have no idea.

Billy: Hi.

Chelsea: Hey. Thanks for coming to meet me. I feel bad taking up more of your time.

Billy: No. No. It’s — it’s, uh — it’s fine. I’m actually glad that you texted. I’m really interested to hear how it went with connor.

Chelsea: Well, I took my therapist’s advice and I was open and honest and I told him about my depression. Unfortunately, connor jumped to the conclusion that he was the reason I was feeling low and he was the reason I was in the hospital.

Billy: Aw. Poor kid. That must have been a very difficult conversation. And I got to think adam’s presence probably made it even worse.

Adam: I came here to relax. I didn’t expect to see you and nick together. But now that I’ve seen you together, I… sally, it’s eating away at me, okay? I know it’s a mistake, and you deserve better than that.

Sally: Okay, well, it’s none of your concern.

Adam: [ Scoffs ] Yes, it is. I feel like I pushed you into his arms. Look, I regret every foolish thing that I did to drive you away. I want to be with you. We belong together. Marry me, sally.

Sally: Okay, you’re a little drunk, okay? So you should probably stop before you make things worse.

Adam: No, no, no, no, no. I know what I’m saying, okay? And so do you. I could see the look on your face when I asked you. You didn’t totally reject the idea. You were just trying to see if i knew what I was saying, and i do. This is what I want. It’s what we both want.

Diane: Kyle? Are you here?

Ashley: Oh, my god. You don’t even bother knocking anymore. Just you and me.

Diane: I’m looking for my son.

Ashley: I’m sure you are. Because you’re scared. And you need to find your very last ally before your lies come crashing down all around you, right?

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

[ Pounding on door ]

Jack: Answer the door!

Tucker: Jack abbott. As I live and breathe.

Jack: Save it.

Tucker: Oh. You seem worked up.

Jack: I’m here to tell you one thing.

Tucker: What’s that?

Jack: Whatever you are planning, it’s not gonna work. I’m sholeh and I lost 75 pounds with golo.

Tucker: Would you care for a drink?

Jack: What do you say we skip the social pleasantries?

Tucker: What you call social pleasantries I call 18-year-old single malt.

Jack: I’m way ahead of you, tucker. Whatever you have up your sleeve, I will be ready.

Tucker: Okay. What are we talking about?

Jack: I think you know what I’m accusing you of.

Tucker: Oh, well, I get accused of many things every day, so you’re gonna have to be a lot more speci–

Jack: Jabot. You’re coming after my company.

Tucker: Hmm. Where’d you get that idea?

Jack: That doesn’t matter. I know it’s true. The problem is, there is one flaw to your plan.

Tucker: Do tell.

Jack: You came back to genoa city to win ashley back and to steal our family’s company out from under us.

Tucker: How ambitious of me.

Jack: The problem is you can’t do both. They are mutually exclusive, which I think you already know. Which tells me that there’s only one goal you’re really after. And given your obsession with winning in the corporate sphere, I’d say you’re coming after jabot, that my sister is just a means to that end, that ashley is being used to get to my company.

Tucker: That was my first drink. But if you don’t mind, I’m gonna pour myself a second one ’cause after listening to you talk, i can tell this is going to be a two-drink-minimum conversation.

Jack: I notice you’re not denying it.

Tucker: [ Sighs ] I’ll just say this. You, like 99.9% of the population, are totally incapable of seeing the big picture like I am.

[ Bottle thuds ]

Diane: I am sorry to disappoint you, but that’s not the reason I’m looking for kyle. You make it sound like I’m about to be run out of town by an angry mob carrying torches and pitchforks.

Ashley: No, I don’t think that happens very often these days. I think we could find you a ride to the airport and somebody to wave bye-bye as you fly off into the wild blue yonder.

Diane: I’m not going anywhere. I might not have many allies in this town, but I have the most important one of all — the truth.

Ashley: I can’t believe you just said that with a straight face.

Diane: Jack is also on my side, and I have told him everything that tucker is planning.

Ashley: Yeah. Well, it doesn’t surprise me that you ran to him for protection. I’m sure you managed to squeeze out a few phony tears and tell jack how you’re such a victim and those mean ladies that just won’t believe that you’ve actually changed.

Diane: Jack believes me because he’s been witness to how unfair the three of you have been to me. Whether it’s phyllis trying to ruin my career or nikki sending that investigative reporter to dredge up my past or you…

Ashley: Me what? I have done absolutely nothing to you.

Diane: You’re colluding with tucker.

Ashley: I’m colluding with tucker? No, I’m not. I’m actually just taking what he told me seriously, diane.

Diane: You know, actually, you’re the most devious of the three. You’re letting nikki and phyllis do all the dirty work in hopes of giving yourself plausible deniability. But jack sees right through you. And the harder you push at me, the more he’s going to protect me.

Ashley: Well, maybe that was true a month ago, diane, but the more you go to him whining and complaining, it’s just not as effective as it once was.

Diane: I don’t think you understand the relationship that jack and I have.

Ashley: I think I understand it quite well. And I’m telling you that his goodwill towards you is waning. And you know why, right? He’s sick of it. He’s sick of you. All of your lies. We’re so sick of it, diane. All the lying and the mess you make wherever you go. It’s boring.

Diane: You’re wrong. And, honestly, it makes you sound petty.

Ashley: I think the worst thing of all for you, though, is gonna be when kyle sees you for who you really are. I mean, that day will come eventually, but until then, you’re gonna just keep playing on his emotions, aren’t you? That poor guy. He just wanted a mom. He just wanted a nice, normal mother, and he got you.

Diane: Kyle knows how much i love him, and he understands that I am trying to make up for lost time.

Ashley: It’s sad. It’s really sad ’cause you keep promising him a future, a big, happy family. But you and I both know there is no future as soon as jeremy stark gets released from prison.

Diane: Oh, really? Jeremy stark.

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Diane: You’re the one who should be worried about that.

Chelsea: Actually, adam was great with connor. He was gentle and understanding. Whatever reservations he had, he followed my lead. He reassured connor that this wasn’t his fault and that I had been dealing with a lot of issues before all the stuff happened with johnny.

Billy: Okay. Well, I’m — I’m actually really glad to hear that.

Chelsea: But then the conversation took a turn. Before I could explain to connor what happened that night on the roof, he figured it out on his own. He said, you know, he’s not a kid anymore, and he told me that he knows what it means when someone wants to un-alive themselves.

Billy: Wow.

Chelsea: I know. I didn’t see that coming.

Billy: I mean, he’s a smart, perceptive boy, but I hope that wasn’t too jarring for you.

Chelsea: It was shocking. But in the end, I think it actually helped us be more open and honest about what happened. And I think connor appreciated that. He could tell I was being authentic, so when I told him this wasn’t his fault, he believed me. When I told him I’m getting better, he knew I was being sincere.

Billy: I’m proud of you.

Chelsea: [ Chuckles ]

Billy: No, really. You — you made the hard choice to have a very difficult conversation, and you didn’t back down.

Adam: Look, I hate that i didn’t take this step before. I mean, it makes all the sense in the world, sally.

Sally: Mr. And mrs. Adam newman? That makes sense to you?

Adam: Yes. I mean, we shouldn’t waste another second being apart. It feels right. Sally, we were meant to be, and I know that you feel the same way because of everything that we shared. Our connection — it cannot be broken.

Sally: [ Breathes deeply ]

Adam: I’m being serious.

Sally: Because you wouldn’t make a joke out of my feelings for you, right? ‘Cause that would just be cruel.

Adam: You’re right. I would not do that, okay? I’ve put you through enough.

Sally: You played games, and you lost. And so now you’re just pulling out all the stops to keep me here, but you know what? I refuse to stay here and let you do this to me. I’m not — I’m not —

Adam: No, sa– look, sally, wait, wait, wait, wait.

Nick: Hey. Hey. Get your hands off her now.

Adam: Just… dishes still coming out dirty?

Adam: Look, are you trying to insinuate that I was threatening sally? Is that what you think you saw, nick?

Nick: Do not grab her like that again.

Adam: You know what? I think what really bothers you is seeing sally with me and what we have, what’s in her heart.

Sally: Do I get a say in this? I listened to you. That is what you wanted, okay? Now do something for me and stop this.

Nick: Let it go.

Adam: [ Breathing heavily ]

Chelsea: Thank you for coming here and listening to me, especially on such short notice.

Billy: It’s all good. I’m glad I was nearby.

Chelsea: Well, I should get back up to connor.

Billy: Yeah. It turns out moving upstairs is a good thing, right? It’s both convenient and worthwhile. It’s nice.

Chelsea: Yeah. We’re both really comfortable up there. Believe it or not, it’s starting to actually feel like home.

Billy: It’s amazing, chelsea. There’s a real — there’s a real shift in you, you know? You seem like you’re more at peace. It’s a good thing to see.

Chelsea: And your support has really helped me get to this place.

Billy: No. It’s all you. It really is. You know, you made the choice to have a difficult conversation, and that was, uh — wasn’t easy to do.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] I was at the lowest point in my life, but now I feel like it’s gonna be a great thanksgiving. I have a lot to be thankful for.

Billy: Yes, you do.

Nick: I’m sorry adam grabbed your arm like that. I also apologize if I made it worse with anything I, uh, said.

Sally: [ Sighs ] No. I’m — I’m glad that you stepped in when you did. But grabbing my arm was not the most outrageous part of his performance.

Nick: What do you mean?

Sally: He proposed to me. And he insisted that we belong together. I mean, why would he do that? In public and half-drunk?

Nick: You know why he did it. He’s willing to do or say anything to end our relationship. It’s not gonna work.

Sally: I like this. I like us.

[ Sighs ]

Nick: I like us, too. I’m gonna go home to christian. I’ll be thinking about you all night.

Sally: I will be thinking about you, too.

Nick: [ Sighs ]

Lily: Thank you. Remember when we went to california?

[ Laughs ]

Daniel: Of course. But I think you mean ran away.

Lily: Oh, my god, that’s right.

Daniel: Let’s not delude us.

Lily: That’s right. We left the state without permission.

Daniel: Our parents were freaking out trying find us.

Lily: [ Laughs ] Oh, and then we were broke, and we got that job where we were wearing fruit costumes. Remember that?

Daniel: Yes, yes! Not the worst job I’ve ever had.

Lily: Oh, my god.

Daniel: Close, but…

Lily: [ Laughs ] Well, I mean, we had no work experience, and they paid cash.

Daniel: Ah, I think the thing I remember most about that whole experience was the, uh, itchy banana costume.

Lily: [ Laughing ] Oh, my god. Aww, those were the good old days. We’ve come a long way since then.

Daniel: Mm. Yes, we have. I mean, look at you. From dressing up as a bunch of grapes to ceo of chancellor-winters? Congratulations.

Lily: Thank you.

Daniel: I mean it. I am extremely impressed with everything that you’ve accomplished.

Lily: Wow. Thank you. Well, I mean, what about you? Renowned artist.

Daniel: Mm.

Lily: Hello?

Daniel: [ Chuckles ]

Lily: Your photography was amazing. And then your painting. Do you have any exhibitions coming up?

Daniel: I’ve been taking a bit of a break lately.

Lily: You’re not painting anymore?

Daniel: Well, I’m still creating. I’ve got a few new ideas that I’m really excited about, and i really like the direction I’m headed. And I want to tell you all about it soon.

Lily: Does it involve another banana costume?

[ Both laugh ]

Daniel: Possibly. Possibly.

[ Clears throat ] I read — I read somewhere that you and billy abbott are a couple? I couldn’t believe it, even after my mother confirmed it.

Lily: I know. It came as a surprise to us, too.

[ Laughs ] Actually, jill made my job offer contingent on the fact that billy and I had to work together as a team, and I was kind of his boss.

[ Both laugh ]

Daniel: I love that. I bet billy didn’T.

Lily: Well, no. I mean, it was fine. He didn’t mind that I was in charge. We have different styles, you know, and different ideas of what’s acceptable risk.

Daniel: And, what, did he keep pushing the envelope and driving you crazy?

Lily: There were some clashes, but… I don’t know. It was good. We were a good combination. Even though, you know, we had our differences, it — it worked.

Daniel: Until it didn’T. Super emma just about sleeps in her cape.

Lily: What makes you say that? Who told you it didn’t work?

Daniel: Oh, I don’t have any insider knowledge as to what happened. I do remember reading the retraction that billy had to write after publishing the ashland locke story. The one without an actual source?

Lily: Yes. That. Uh, I mean, you know, it’s complicated. It wasn’t entirely billy’s fault.

Daniel: Mm. It sounds like you’re trying to brush it off, but that was a big deal. I mean, that’s how you guys lost chanccomm, right?

Lily: I mean, not entirely, but it definitely was a major factor.

Daniel: Well, it sounds like you’ve gotten past that.

Lily: Yeah, got past that incident.

Daniel: I’m sorry. Have there been more?

Lily: I’m sorry. What’s with all these questions? Are you writing a book about my company?

Daniel: No, no. I’m — I’ve just been trying to stay informed as to what’s been going on around here. And I will admit, I’ve been down a few internet rabbit holes looking up my old friends in genoa city.

Lily: [ Chuckles ]

Daniel: [ Sighs ] You know, the rest of genoa city has changed. There’s new buildings and businesses, and a couple of familiar faces I passed in the street, they — they just look different. Older. But you, lily — I mean, you look, um…

Lily: [ Chuckles ] Hey.

Billy: Daniel. Man, hell of a surprise.

Jack: The world according to tucker mccall. This I got it hear. What is it you think I’m missing?

Tucker: Well, first of all, you don’t seem to realize that ashley is just miles ahead of you — and all the other abbotts, actually — in both vision and intellect.

Jack: Oh, you’ll get no argument from me about ashley’s brilliance. But you would be a fool to think you can outwit both of us. And you’re kidding yourself to think that ashley would ever fall in love with you again.

Tucker: Well, time will tell.

Jack: Trust me, the only reason she is spending time with you is solely to uncover what your real motive is.

Tucker: I’m aware of that. She and I have actually discussed it. I’ve accepted her challenge to prove to her that I am sincere in wanting her back and that I’ve got nothing more to hide, which is why I filled her in on all of diane’s nasty little secrets. And apparently, diane has been filling your head with all sorts of fantastic tales of my sinister plans.

Jack: Come on. You and I both know this is about a lot more than you trying to prove your noble intentions to ashley.

Tucker: Are you sure, jack? ‘Cause it seems to me you have no idea what you know. You come here on some fishing expedition, just hoping maybe, just maybe, I’ll confirm your suspicion. I mean, what did you say? That I’m no match for you and ashley together? Well, that means you know the truth — that you, by yourself, are no match for me.

Jack: Wouldn’t it have been easier just to say, “jack, no, I’m not coming after your company”?

Tucker: No. No, I think I’d like to just keep you guessing. I’m having too much fun watching you sweat.

Diane: You’re the one fabricating this outrageous lie that I am somehow responsible for sending jeremy stark to prison? Do you know, if he heard that and believed it, how dangerous that would be?

Ashley: I don’t think it’s a lie, diane.

Diane: Oh, really? Oh, really? You’ve read the court transcripts? You were debriefed by the treasury department and the fbi? You know how it all happened?

Ashley: Clearly, no. But I know the story, and i don’t believe anything out of your mouth. So, there’s that.

Diane: It must feel so nice to be all-knowing.

Ashley: I’m not all-knowing. Like, I don’t know why jeremy stark being released from prison is dangerous for me. I mean, that is what you said, isn’t it?

Diane: Yes, I did.

Ashley: Uh-huh.

Diane: He is a ruthless man. And you’re putting a target on my back. But I’m not the only one in this equation. I am kyle’s mother. I am harrison’s grandmother. I am summer’s mother-in-law. I work in the jabot buildings. I am a welcome guest here. If jeremy stark causes problems for me, it won’t just affect me. It’ll affect your whole family. And that will be your fault.

Ashley: You are just so shameless. It’s gross. It really is. I mean, you’re basically using your own grandson as a human shield.

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

Ashley: I mean, come on. I guess I can’t blame you, though. You’re scared, aren’t you? You should be. You should be very scared. Because you know what? This is your last chance. I’d run if I were you. I’d run before it’s too late.

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

[ Knocking on door ]

Sally: [ Sighs ]

Adam: Hi!

Sally: Wh– what are — what are you — what are you doing? Are you crazy?

Adam: I’m just…

Sally: [ Scoffs ] Wh– no. Come on. You don’t — you don’t — you do not need any more to drink. Did they cut you off upstairs?

Adam: I don’t know. Probably.

Sally: [ Sighs ] Okay, I don’t know if you think this is endearing or it’s romantic, but it’s not. It’s not. It’s maddening and it’s hurtful. Wh– what are you doing? You proposed to me in the middle of a club while I’m with nick, while you’re half-drunk. Why would you do that?

Adam: [ Scoffs ] You know why, sally. We make sense. We’re magic. And I don’t understand why you would rob yourself of that. If you’re on medicare,

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Sally: You’ve had too much to drink.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Maybe. But, look, I have never had more clarity about anything in my life. I’ve never felt so totally in sync with someone. We — we are equals on every level. That is — that’s so rare. We can read each other. We — we can… we know what the other one’s thinking, our dreams, our desires, all this —

Sally: Yeah, but that was before.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Yes, before I screwed things up. I know. But I did that for you. I loved you so much that I was willing to cut out a piece of my heart by letting you go. I wanted you to have everything because you deserve it, sally. You’re perfect.

Sally: [ Laughs ] Okay. Now I know you’re drunk.

Adam: I’m — I’m — I’m not saying you’re — you’re not without your flaws. I mean, you’re — you — you’re incredibly complicated. Like a wildfire. A beautiful mess, okay? I know the real you, and I love all of it. And I know that you’re afraid to show that side to nick because of how he’ll react. And let’s face it — you’re with him to hurt me. I get it. And for nick, it’s — it’s just about the sex.

Sally: How is any of that supposed to be flattering? Do you not see how insulting that is? You just told me that I’m using nick and that he’s using me right back.

Adam: Yeah. Because that’s exactly what’s happening.

Billy: Man, it’s really good to see you.

Daniel: You too. Lily and I were just talking about you.

Billy: Uh-oh.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ]

Billy: Are you, uh — are you sticking around, or are you just passing through or what?

Daniel: Here for the holiday, maybe longer.

Billy: Well, that’s cool. I’m sure lily and summer are gonna to be thrilled to see you and heather, lucy.

Lily: Actually, heather and lucy are in portugal.

Billy: Wow. That sounds nice. So, uh — so you’re here alone.

Daniel: Yeah, that’s right. Just me all by myself catching up with old friends.

Billy: Mm.

Lily: How is chelsea?

Chelsea: Uh, she’s good. She’s doing better.

Daniel: I think my food’s ready. I gotta get back to the hotel. Um, I’d love to catch up some more.

Billy: Yeah, that’d be great.

Daniel: Actually, I’d like to run my new idea by the two of you.

Lily: The thing you mentioned before?

Daniel: Exactly. Maybe we could set up a time, i could come by chancellor-winters, and we could talk about it.

Lily: Yeah, I’d love that. I’ll have my assistant e-mail you some times.

Daniel: Great. I’ll be seeing you then.

Lily: Alright.

Billy: Yeah.

Daniel: You guys have a nice night.

Lily: Thank you.

Billy: You too. Good to see you.

[ Groans ] I think it’s gonna be steak for me tonight.

Diane: Ashley, you are so focused in railroading me out of genoa city that you are putting everyone in jeopardy. You’re buying into tucker’s game. I refuse to do that.

Ashley: What are you talking about? The only reason why you’re back in genoa city is because you struck a deal with tucker. You’re the one playing by his rules.

Diane: Not any longer. Have you asked yourself why tucker has so suddenly turned on me?

Ashley: Uh, yeah, I did, and I realize it’s because it’s advantageous to him. He knows there’s a lot of people in this town that would be so happy if he helped send you back to california.

Diane: Oh, and I’m sure he made it sound like a gift so that you would be grateful and reward him appropriately.

Ashley: I know exactly who tucker is. He’s out for himself.

Diane: The real reason that tucker and I are on opposite sides is because I refused to give him information on jabot’s financials. That was originally part of our deal.

Ashley: Jack told me.

Diane: Well, then he must have also told you that i wouldn’t go along with it. It would risk everything I’ve rebuilt with kyle, and so I said no.

Ashley: That’s really great. You know, I’d be careful if i frame your refusal to participate in corporate espionage as a noble act, especially since you agreed to do it in the first place, right? I mean, it kind of sounds like you’re just doing damage control.

Diane: You are missing the point! Tucker was asking me for information about your family business and your love life. Ashley, he’s using you!

[ Door slams ]

Jack: I cannot have the two of you arguing and sniping with each other in this house with harrison here.

Diane: My only goal is to protect this family.

My family. So you need to listen to me.

Adam: Sally, what I’m offering you is love. Sincere, hopeful love. You’re wasting your time with someone — he’s never gonna make you happy. And I just — I would hate to see you settle for…that.

Sally: Okay, I know you can’t stand the idea of me being with nick. So, now what? You’re — you’re doing everything you can to put an end to it?

Adam: No, I’m — I’m being very real. He is never going to treat you the way that you deserve, sally. Yeah, he can make women feel like they’re the most important thing in the world, but he’s just looking for a replacement for sharon. She’ll always have his heart, okay? That’s why it didn’t work out with, uh, him and phyllis — because he couldn’t turn her into sharon. Same thing for chelsea. Poor chelsea. You know, she’s going through a lot, so it’s no wonder that she…

Sally: It’s no wonder what?

Nick: Hey, chels.

Chelsea: Hey.

Nick: How are you?

Chelsea: I’m good.

Nick: Yeah, sharon told me you were, uh, moving upstairs.

Chelsea: Connor and I love it up there. It was really kind and generous of her to offer it to us.

Nick: Well, that’s sharon. What are you doing for thanksgiving?

Chelsea: Uh, you know, I’m not sure yet. I need to talk to adam about it. We’re gonna do something together so connor can be with both his parents.

[ Sighs ] Speaking of, I got to get these pastries upstairs so he can wake up to them in the morning.

Nick: Yeah. Here to pick up some morning treats for christian myself.

Chelsea: Ah, well, great minds think alike.

Nick: Well, I hope you have a great thanksgiving.

Chelsea: You too, nick.

Billy: Sorry that took a little longer than i expected. I wanted to just run over and run back, but…

Lily: No, no, it was fun, actually, running into daniel and catching up.

Billy: Yeah. I know. It was good to see him. It was nice of him. He was kind of like my seat filler, you know, keeping you entertained while I was gone.

Lily: [ Scoffs ] I mean, it wasn’t exactly like that.

Billy: Come on. You two looked like you were having a good time.

Lily: Um, I know that we’ve been really busy and we haven’t had a chance to talk about thanksgiving.

Billy: Thanks-what?

Lily: Yeah, I know what you mean. I feel that way, too. Um, I was thinking that we could help sharon at the coffeehouse. People in need.

Billy: I love that idea. That’s great. And then maybe we can go to the abbotts for dinner after that.

Lily: Yeah. And then maybe devon’s for dessert?

Billy: Boom. Look at that. Plans made.

Lily: Yeah, that was easier than I expected.

[ Chuckles ] I do love thanksgiving. It’s my favorite holiday. Just spending time with family and friends.

Billy: With a big old slice of pie at the end.

Lily: The perfect day.

Billy: Speaking of, uh, family and friends — and in the spirit of thanksgiving — there’s something I want to run by you.

Lily: Does it involve chelsea? Do you struggle with occasional nerve aches

Adam: Chelsea is just going through a lot right now. That’s all.

Sally: Okay, but you said “no wonder.” What did you mean by that?

Adam: Sally, you think I’m — you think I’m drunk, so it doesn’t matter what I tell you.

Sally: Yes, but what you say when you’re drunk might mean more than when you’re sober.

Adam: You’re right. So you should know that I meant everything that I said to you tonight, okay? So, just forget about the booze and my rambling. Pay attention to our connection. That’s what’s important. I know that you understand that. Think about what I said. The proposal. You know, it was from the heart. Just know that I love you.

[ Door closes ]

Nick: Daniel?

Daniel: Nick!

Nick: Look at you!

Daniel: Hey! How you doing?

Nick: Good. Are you home for thanksgiving?

Daniel: Yeah, yeah, just got in today.

Nick: Summer and phyllis have got to be thrilled.

Daniel: Oh, they better be.

[ Both laugh ]

Nick: It’s gonna be an awesome holiday.

Daniel: Well…

Nick: How are heather and lucy?

Daniel: Oh, they’re great. Yeah, they’re just — you know, they’re great.

Billy: You’re right. This does have to do with chelsea.

Lily: [ Sighs ] So, she, what, doesn’t have anywhere to go for thanksgiving?

Billy: I think she’s hoping to spend it with connor and adam, but just in case that doesn’t happen, I don’t want her to be alone on the holiday. That — that wouldn’t be a good idea.

Lily: So you want her to come with us?

Billy: I would like her to have the option, she and connor, depending on what happens.

Lily: Sorry. What do you think is gonna happen?

Billy: I don’t — I don’t know exactly, but, you know, it’s adam. He could — he could choose to fly off to the himalayas the morning of. I don’t know.

Lily: Okay, I don’t think that’s a reasonable scenario.

Billy: Well, something as absurd could happen, and I don’t want her to be left out in the cold. So, if it’s okay with you, it’d be nice if connor and chelsea were able to spend thanksgiving with us, if need be.

Lily: Right. Um, I am sensitive to chelsea’s situation, but you’re making assumptions. You’re worrying about offering help that she might not even need. So, why don’t we just enjoy our holiday and see what happens?

Billy: Okay.

Diane: Ashley, I think you hate me so much that you are blind to what’s happening here. If you let yourself be swayed by these revelations about my time in L.A., Then tucker will succeed. It could be catastrophic.

Ashley: I hardly think that you finally owning up to everything you’ve done and then leaving town would be a catastrophe.

Diane: Instead of spending all of your time thinking about me, you should be worried about tucker. He’s after jabot. You need to open your eyes and see that I’m not the enemy here.

Ashley: Stop telling me what I need to do.

Jack: I just had a very unpleasant meeting with tucker. I think diane is right. He’s coming after jabot.

Diane: And what you need are allies to figure out what tucker is planning and how to stop him, and you couldn’t ask for a better one in this situation than me.

Sally: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: Wow! Wow! Look at you. Let’S… yeah, let’s go celebrate.

Sally: Are you sure?

Nick: Are you kidding me? With that dress? We are hitting the town.

Sally: Well, terrific, although I do feel kind of bad because you have to be up at the office bright and early, and I don’t have anything on my schedule tomorrow until a mani-pedi at 2:00.

Nick: Don’t worry about me. I operate on minimal sleep. Besides, we have a lot to celebrate.

Sally: Yeah. What are we celebrating, me signing up for unemployment?

Nick: You gonna be doing that before or after your mani-pedi?

Sally: Oh, man, I don’t know. It depends on how late I sleep in.

Nick: See, I would think you’d want to get up at the crack of dawn so you could begin work on your project, which is potentially a very big deal.

Sally: Well, it is still in its embryonic stages. So, you know, there’s nothing to celebrate…yet.

Nick: Oh, this has nothing to do with work. This is about us.

Billy: Hey, sharon, um, how’s our friend upstairs doing? How’s chelsea? No, it’s okay. Lily knows. Actually, chelsea was the one that said that I need to tell her. She was actually adamant about it. She didn’t want lily to get the wrong idea.

Lily: I think what you and billy have done is amazing. I think you’re an angel.

Sharon: Oh, well, I don’t know about that, but, you know, I try to do the right thing whenever I can.

Lily: Yeah. So, now that you know I know, how is she doing?

Sharon: I don’t know. They’ve been up there for a while.

Billy: “They”?

Sharon: Yeah. You know, adam had some reservations at first, but he eventually did what chelsea asked. He brought connor over here so that she could tell him everything that’s going on.

Billy: Well, that’s a very sensitive and delicate conversation to have. I hope adam doesn’t screw it up. Did you tell connor?

Adam: Mm-hmm. It wasn’t easy, but I was truly impressed how chelsea was able to handle it. She was honest and candid. Got pretty emotional. But he seemed to understand.

Sharon: Well, I think his generation has a different perspective on mental health than what we grew up with.

Adam: He’s going to stay with her tonight. You know, he wants to be with his mom right now.

Billy: Did chelsea seem like she was, uh…

Adam: Billy, chelsea is strong enough to handle this on her own. She doesn’t need your support. She’s with her son. She’s okay. Just leave them alone.

Nate: That’s excellent, vivian. And you can send me all that data. Great. Great. I am especially interested in cross-referencing our audiences on our platforms with the top 100 advertisers. So, if you can highlight that for me, that would be amazing. Oh, really? Sally had you highlight that same material? Hmm. Interesting. That should make it easy, then. I’ll expect it soon. Thanks.

Elena: You look like you belong behind that desk.

Nate: Oh, and you are a sight for sore eyes.

Elena: Hi.

Nate: Hey.

Elena: How’s it going?

Nate: Well, it’s my first full day. I haven’t mastered all the nuances, but I did find the executive dining room, so that is a good start.

Elena: I’m sure you’ll figure it all out soon. For good luck.

Nate: Wow. Thank you.

Elena: Yeah, I just wanted to get you something to show you that I support you 100%.

Sally: Wow! This place looks great! Noah’s crushing it.

Nick: Thank you. Yeah, it is a success. I’m so proud of him.

Sally: Wow. I didn’t see him when we walked in.

Nick: Yeah, me either. He’s usually here every night. Maybe I’ll call him.

Sally: I’m sure he’s fine. It’s actually kind of nice, him not being here.

Nick: Why would you say that?

Sally: Well, without your son here to watch over us, we don’t have to keep things pg. What’s the #1 retinol brand

Nate: Wow. I love it. It’s all I want when I need a little inspiration.

Elena: And all I want is some dinner. Are you finished here yet? We should go celebrate.

Nate: Ooh, I would love that. But I have to get to a meeting with victoria.

Elena: This late?

Nate: We work around the clock here. But I tell you what. Why don’t you go to society, get us a table, order a bottle of their finest champagne, and I will be there soon.

Elena: You sure you’re going to be able to get away?

Nate: Look, everything’s been going smoothly and efficiently, so this meeting shouldn’t take long.

Elena: Okay, well, I will head there now. You know, it’s nice seeing you like this.

Nate: Like what?

Elena: Happy. Enjoying your work again.

Nate: Yeah, I am all of that.

Elena: Mm-hmm. I think it’s what was missing at chancellor-winters. And even though I hate how you got to this point, I really love that you’re here.

Nate: I can’t tell you how much your support means to me, and I look forward to celebrating with you tonight.

Lily: I am so glad that it went well for chelsea. I mean, that must have been a huge relief.

Sharon: It’s a step in the right direction.

Lily: I can’t even imagine how hard that conversation with connor must have been. I’m sure she’s happy it was successful.

Billy: Well, we don’t actually know if it was successful, right? I mean, we’re taking adam’s word on that.

Sharon: Well, I don’t think he would lie about something like this.

Billy: Oh, I wouldn’t be so sure. I mean, I’m sure he has the right intentions, but I’ve never trusted him.

Lily: Well, I think that i agree with sharon right now. I think that we have to take him at his word.

Billy: Sure. But I still think that I should go check up on her real quick, just to be safe.

Sharon: I don’t think you should go up there tonight.

Billy: Okay. Can I call her at least?

Sharon: I don’t know if that’s a good idea, either. She’s with her son. Don’t interrupt their time together.

Lily: Look, billy, I know that you don’t trust adam, but I know that you trust sharon’s expert advice.

Billy: Okay. I won’t bug her tonight.

Lily: You know what? Why don’t we go get dinner? I’m hungry. I know that you haven’t eaten all day.

Billy: I haven’T. No, that sounds really nice. Let’s go grab dinner. Sharon, if you do hear anything, can you just let me know?

Sharon: I will.

Billy: Okay. Thank you.

Lily: Noah, hi.

Noah: Lily, billy. Good to see you.

Sharon: Hey.

Noah: Billy didn’t try busting my chops. What’s wrong?

Sharon: Hopefully nothing. But something has been gnawing away at me, and it made me think of you.

Noah: Oh, yeah. What’s that?

Sharon: Well, I’ve been helping to treat someone recently who’s experiencing some mental-health issues, and it just made me wonder what it felt like for you when I was spiraling out with my bipolar disorder. Moderate-to-severe eczema.

Elena: Devon? Devon?

Devon: Hey.

Elena: Hey, what’s going on?

Devon: How you doing?

Elena: Wow. Whatever you were just thinking about really has a hold on you.

Devon: Oh. Just been a little distracted today.

Elena: Something big?

Devon: It’s just something that I’m having trouble figuring out. That’s all.

Elena: Can I help?

Devon: No, no, not at all. I appreciate the offer, though. But it’s something that I have to figure out on my own.

Elena: Ah. One of those “sitting alone at the bar with a drink” kind of problems?

Devon: That’s the one, yeah. What are you doing? You here by yourself, too?

Elena: No. I am meeting nate. Maybe when he gets here, we could all sit down and have a drink together.

Devon: Last thing I’d ever want to do is sit down and have a drink with a traitor.

Nate: Hey, you ready for me?

Victoria: Yes. Come on in. Thank you for staying so late.

Nate: There was a lot to do, even on my first day. So, did I screw something up? Is that what this meeting is about?

Victoria: No. There’s no report of anything going wrong. I just wanted to check in with you and see how it all went.

Nate: Well, it…it all went great. Staff was on top of everything. Today was mostly about settling in and going over all the projects in progress.

Victoria: Good. What did you find?

Nate: Interestingly enough, sally spectra had a lot going on. Every time I made a suggestion, the response was, “sally was doing that.”

Victoria: Oh, well, there’s no need to dwell on your predecessor’s performance.

Nate: I hope you don’t have a problem with me occasionally disagreeing with you, but i think we should talk about her work.

Victoria: And why is that?

Nate: Well, looking over everything, talking to the staff, evaluating places where we need to be stronger, I think sally was doing a really good job. She was implementing some strong, innovative ideas for this division.

Victoria: Those weren’t all her ideas. It takes a team effort, you know?

Nate: Of course, of course. But their leader had them on the right path.

Victoria: What are you saying, nate?

Nate: Look — don’t get me wrong. I am grateful for this opportunity, but I’m not sure why you brought me in to take sally’s place.

Sally: So, what does a celebration of us entail? Do we need, like, party hats or kazoos?

Nick: I would think we’re worthy of at least, like, a trumpet or a saxophone.

Sally: Okay. I like that. Uh, I’m sorry. I think there was a mistake. We didn’t order this.

Nick: Alright. I know who it’s from. Look over your left shoulder.

Sally: Great.

[ Clears throat ] Looks like he’s in the mood to cause another scene.

Sharon: You know, I didn’t mean to ambush you with that question.

Noah: It was definitely unexpected.

Sharon: Well, if it’s an uncomfortable subject for you, we don’t have to talk about it. I was just looking for some insight.

Noah: No, it’s okay. It was hard. Things were bad for you. But then you got help, and you came back stronger and more grounded. That was reassuring.

Sharon: Well, you know, when you’re in it, you don’t think about how it’s going to affect the people you love. You just are focused on yourself and trying to get better. And now I can look back, and I can see how difficult that probably was for you.

Noah: I think it was harder for faith. I was older. It was easier for me to process. Plus, I could do my own research, see what we were inyeah, you know, dad and I, we did our best to shield her from your more manic episodes, rong?

Noah: Nothing.

Sharon: You know, I thought something was on your mind when you came in, and now I’m certain.

Noah: Mom, I’d really rather not talk about it.

Sharon: Hey, I just told you, moms are going to worry. Don’t make me worry any more than I have to. What’s going on?

Noah: You said I’d understand one day when I was a parent. Well, it turns out I almost was a parent. Who says you have to spend more on skincare

Elena: How much harm could one drink with your cousin cause?

Devon: I don’t like him, elena.

Elena: Come on, devon.

Devon: What do you mean, “come on”? It hasn’t been that long since he did what he did to our family. And I thought the two of you split over the whole thing. You’ve taken him back?

Elena: He’s been remorseful. He knows how much he screwed up. He flew too close to the sun, and he got burned.

Devon: You know that he only came clean to us because he thought it would help getting you back.

Elena: I think he’s learned from this.

Devon: Oh. Well, is that why he’s never told us who he was working for? Even though we now know it’s victorian newman, and he won’t admit it. So, he’s still protecting the ceo who went after our company and who still might try and go after it.

Elena: I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think that’s all over.

Devon: How do you know that? Nobody does. And, like I said, the only reason he admitted anything to us is because you showed up to the office that day and put pressure on him to do it. If you hadn’t done that, he wouldn’t have said anything. And he and victoria would have stolen our company out from under us.

Elena: You really believe that?

Devon: I know it for a fact. He’s changed, elena. He’s not the same person he used to be. Hell, maybe he never even was that guy.

Victoria: Sally had some good ideas, but that did not make her a good ceo. There were a lot of dynamics at play. You know, the only reason she was here was because adam wanted to promote his then-girlfriend. She was not my choice. So, when I took over again, I had to make some changes.

Nate: So letting her go was payback for adam?

Victoria: No, I didn’t care about that at all. I mean, sally and adam had been broken up for a while. If I wanted to take a shot at him, I could have done something a little more effective.

Nate: Mm. So, you’re saying there’s nothing personal at all in your decision to dismiss sally?

Victoria: You know, people always say, “it’s nothing personal. It’s just business.” But there is always a personal element to every decision, isn’t there? If I had liked sally, would I have been more inclined to keep her on despite her — her flawed leadership? Possibly. But it’s not a bad thing to like the people that you work with.

Nate: Yeah. That hits pretty close to home for me right now.

Victoria: I thought it might. So, I would advise you not to focus on what sally did or did not accomplish. You have far more to offer than sally ever could. And that is why I made these changes.

Nate: Okay, that all makes sense.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] So, come on. Let’s not focus on the past. I don’t like to do that. We have a bright future. Why don’t we talk about that?

Nate: Sounds good.

Victoria: You’ve had a chance to look things over. So, what are your first impressions? How do you want to put newman media on top?

Nate: I’m excited. I can tell you that much. I don’t want to get into specifics. I need to get better acquainted with all the various projects. But I know I want us to be leaner. It’s good for the bottom line, and it makes us more agile, quicker to respond. Also, I’d like to create an environment where people with good ideas don’t have to jump through five levels of approval. They can initiate projects on their own.

Victoria: Well, I like that.

Nate: Once we have the structure and staff in place, we can create the culture and start to focus on the content.

Victoria: Good. Good. So, what are your thoughts on that?

Nate: I want to be sure we’re putting out quality across all platforms. I don’t want newman media associated with click-bait, cheap production values. We can build our audience without cutting corners.

Victoria: Okay, so you want our brand to be quality, but that goes up against your plan to streamline the staff. Putting out good content takes a lot of manpower. So, you do want to avoid that pitfall.

Nate: Good point. I appreciate that.

Victoria: But I love the direction. I want to encourage you to have big ideas. Create a dream list of all of your projects and go for it. Don’t worry about the cost right now — no limits.

Noah: Audra told me she had no intention of ever telling me about the miscarriage, but being here and seeing me just brought up all these old emotions. She thought that she should let me know.

Sharon: Well, I’m sorry that you’re going through this, especially with the way you found out.

Noah: Yeah, I’m still just trying to, you know, adjust to it all. Now I can’t help but wondering what if? What if I had stayed? Everything would have been different. And I know that I can’t know what it would be like if I’d found out at the time, but it just, um… it feels like a big loss.

Sharon: Well, I’m sorry. Again, I know how much a miscarriage can hurt. I know what it’s like to mourn a child who never was. And I know how long you can carry that pain with you.

Noah: If that baby had lived, um, it would be a few months old by now. You would have had your first grandchild. Ever leave your clothes in the dryer

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Elena: I guess we’re going to have to just agree to disagree about nate.

Devon: Or you can believe me.

[ Chuckles ]

Elena: You know I can’t, devon. So, let’s just not talk about nate anymore.

Devon: Oh, that’s a fantastic idea. How are you? How have you been? Good to see you.

Elena: You too. I’m good. How have you been? How’s amanda? I heard she’s back from virginia.

Devon: She is, yeah.

Elena: Well, that’s exciting. Is she planning to stay for a while?

Devon: Unfortunately, no, she’s not.

Elena: Oh. How come?

Devon: She’s just needed back there with her family for support. Going through a lot, you know?

Elena: Well, I know long-distance relationships can be tough, but no matter the distance between you two and how rough it might be to be apart, I think you’re both strong enough to make it through.

Devon: Well, yeah, that’S… hey, look who it is.

Lily: Oh, devon, hello. Hi, elena.

Elena: Hey!

Lily: How are you?

Elena: I’m good. Good to see you two.

Billy: What do you say? Should we share a table?

Devon: I’m going to go ahead and pass, just because she’s here to meet with our favorite cousin. So, I’m going to keep my distance at the bar, if you don’t mind.

Elena: Yeah, I understand if you want your privacy, but you’re both more than welcome to join nate and I.

Lily: Yeah, that’s going to be a no for me.

Billy: Yeah. Separate tables it is.

Lily: Yes. But I would love to catch up with you sometime soon, just the two of us.

Elena: I’d love that, too.

Lily: Alright, bye.

Elena: I’m going to grab a drink.

Devon: Have fun.

Billy: I’m surprised you didn’t say more about nate.

Lily: Well, I would have said more if he were actually here. But I’m not going to drag elena into our family issue. She doesn’t deserve that.

Billy: Lily, what’s wrong?

Lily: I don’t know. I’m just… I’m frustrated.

Billy: About?

Lily: Why didn’t you tell me about chelsea in the beginning? We live together. We share everything. Did you think I wouldn’t be sympathetic?

Billy: No, not at all.

Lily: Well, then what? Do you not trust me? Because if that’s the case, then what does that say about our relationship?

Noah: I just realized i didn’t even let you know audra was in town.

Sharon: No, you didn’T.

Noah: Somehow you knew.

Sharon: Um, yeah, mariah kept me in the loop.

Noah: Of course.

Sharon: I mean, I knew you would tell me at some point, when you’re ready, so I just — I never brought it up.

Noah: Allie is the only other one who knows about the miscarriage. I’d really like to keep it between us.

Sharon: Alright. I understand. How did she take the news?

Noah: I think it was a lot for her. You know, it’s hard for her to understand how I had no idea that audra was pregnant, but I really didn’T. If she was showing any signs of pregnancy, I didn’t see them. I didn’t even think that was a possibility at the time.

Sharon: You weren’t, um, you weren’t trying to have a baby, were you?

Noah: No, but I should have had some kind of clue. I mean, who doesn’t see that?

Sharon: I don’t want you to beat yourself up about this. You’re such a kind and loving person.

Noah: And there was nothing kind about the way that I broke it off with audra. I was — I was upset, and I was exhausted by all the drama, and I just — I just left. I didn’t even tell her. It’s no wonder she didn’t let me know she was pregnant.

Nick: You know, I don’t want to feel like I got to leave just because of my brother. On the other hand, I do want to sit over here and wait for him to cause a scene, just so we can prove a point.

Sally: So, if we leave, he controls us. And if we stay, he controls us.

Nick: Yeah, pretty much.

Sally: Well, maybe we should split up, head in different directions. It’s the only way to mess up his plans.

Nick: [ Laughs ] Is that what you want to do?

Sally: No, absolutely not. We cannot give him that power. He can’t dictate our moves.

Nick: What do you propose?

Sally: We stay, and we have our evening.

Nick: Well, then, let’s drink his wine.

This black friday, save

on all the gifts you need

Sharon: It’s not like you to leave a relationship without having a conversation first.

Noah: I’m not proud of it. You know, it’s just she created so much drama and turmoil, and it’s just I couldn’t take it anymore. So, I left. And apparently she lost the baby the night I moved out.

Sharon: Well, that doesn’t make it your responsibility. Miscarriages, especially in the early stages of pregnancy, are usually due to a developmental issue with it.

Noah: Still, if I had just stayed… you know, if I had just been there, I could’ve helped her. She wouldn’t have to do it all alone.

Sharon: Noah, you wouldn’t have left her in that situation if you had known. You were in a bad relationship, and you had to get out. And I’m sure that growing up around here, you had seen enough of that. You’ve seen it in your own household growing up with us. I know that my own issues I was dealing with didn’t help any of those matters.

Noah: I’m not going to blame you for anything I experienced in my childhood. Okay? You and dad were the best parents a kid could have. Every family has drama. You learn from it. You grow up. You try not to make the same mistakes.

Sharon: Well, I feel bad for you and audra. This is a tough situation. But you can’t change the past, and you shouldn’t beat yourself up.

Billy: I understand why you would be upset, but my discretion about the situation with chelsea had nothing to do with us. And it’s not a commentary on the state of our relationship.

Lily: I just feel caught between having this admiration for how you’re helping her, but then also this gnawing sense that helping her is not good for us.

Billy: I get that. I do. And I feel bad about keeping the severity of what’s gone down from you. But, lily, it just did not feel like my story to tell. I needed chelsea to give me the go-ahead in order to share anything with you.

Lily: Okay. So, even though I wouldn’t have told a soul, you still think it was the right choice?

Billy: I’m just acting on impulses here, okay? I’m improvising, ever since I saw her standing on that ledge. It hasn’t always guided me correctly, but it’s all I got.

Lily: So, then take a step back, okay? It’s not you and chelsea alone on the roof anymore. She has other people. She has sharon, who is a trained professional. She has her own doctor. She has adam, who knows her better than anyone and has a stake in her well-being. All of them are much better suited to help her than you are.

Billy: I made a promise to her, to be there for her, to help her through this. I can’t leave her high and dry.

Lily: You’re not, billy. You have done your part. You have done more than enough.

[ Cellphone pings ] Is chelsea okay?

Billy: She said connor’s sleeping, and she’s going to grab a tea at crimson lights, and she wants to talk.

Lily: Are you going to go?

Billy: No, I don’t want to leave you, not in the middle of this conversation.

Lily: No, you should go. It’s fine. I mean, if she’s reaching out, it’s fine. I understand.

Billy: I’ll be back. Okay, I’ll be back before our food even comes.

Lily: Don’t make promises you can’t keep.

Billy: Okay. That is a promise that is probably not realistic. But I will be back as soon as I can. I really just want to hear from her how the conversation with connor went. And I can also use this time to, you know, let her know that I’m going to be pulling back, that I’m going to let the professionals help in her recovery.

Lily: Okay. Thanks for listening.

Elena: [ Thinking ] Champagne is here. Are you on your way?

Nate: So, did you always want to work at newman?

Victoria: I wouldn’t say always, given the number of times that I’ve left.

[ Cellphone pings ]

Nate: Sorry about that. Thought I turned my phone off.

Victoria: Is that something you need to deal with?

Nate: Uh, it’s elena. We’re meeting for a late dinner.

[ Cellphone pings ] “Sorry. Meeting going long. Be there soon.”

Lily: Hey.

Devon: Hey. What happened with your dinner date with billy?

Lily: It’s been postponed.

Devon: He just rushed out of here like that?

Lily: Yeah, sure did.

Devon: Has he figured out what he’s doing with his life yet?

Lily: I hope not.

Devon: That’s an odd response.

Lily: It’s fine. Don’t read too much into it.

Devon: Well, there’s clearly something bothering you. Would you like to talk about it?

Lily: Um, I’m going to take a page from your book and say, no, I don’t want to talk about it.

Devon: Hmm. Okay. Well, then, I’m going to take that cue to go home since you do not want to talk about it. I hope that whatever is bothering you, you feel better about in the morning, though. Okay?

Lily: Thanks.

Devon: Love you.

Lily: Love you.

Sally: Well, it was a fun night, after all. Although just once, I would like to go out in this town and not run into an ex of yours or mine.

Nick: Yeah, I don’t know how that’s going to be possible, but I think we handled it about as well as we could tonight.

Sally: I agree.

Nick: Let’s go.

Adam: You guys enjoy the wine?

Sally: Uh, it was a little too sweet for me.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Maybe I should have sent over your favorite scotch instead.

Nick: Yeah, we were just taking off. We’ll have to catch up some other time.

Adam: Can I speak to you in private?

Nick: Can we not do this tonight?

Adam: It’ll just take a couple of minutes. I have something that I want to say. Please.

Sally: Just…just a second, okay?

Nick: Yeah.

Sally: You have two minutes.

Adam: Thank you. (Birds chirping)

Victoria: I actually — i developed my passion for the family business working in the mailroom back when we had a big mailroom. You know, back when we did everything on paper. I just remember loving how big the company was. And I loved to see how far newman enterprises’ tentacles could reach. It was — it was inspiring.

Nate: Then you worked your way up from there?

Victoria: Oh, I wouldn’t say that. I mean, I’m aware of my privilege. I know that my last name has given me this opportunity, but I have held positions at every level inside of this organization. And I know it. I know it inside and out.

Nate: You see, that’s why I’m excited to work for you. I want to learn from you.

Victoria: That’s good. But, you know you don’t have to flatter me. You already have the job.

Nate: I’m sincere. That was what interested me about having chancellor-winters under the newman umbrella. I felt like I could have thrived with your guidance. I mean, us just sitting here, trading ideas? That’s the kind of personal leadership I was looking for.

Victoria: Oh, good, because that’s the only way that I know how to work. But I have to tell you, I’m not always going to agree with you. And when I do disagree with you, I’m not always going to sugarcoat things.

Nate: Bring it on. I can take it.

Victoria: Don’t you have dinner with elena?

Nate: Yeah, but she’ll be fine. This is important. I feel like I’m learning a lot already. Plus, we have momentum. Let’s not stop.

Sally: How much have you had to drink?

Adam: I’m fine. Okay? I got here after you and nick did.

Sally: That’s not an answer.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Look — I, um, thank you for taking a minute to talk to me.

Sally: Look. You can’t keep doing this. Adam, you can’t keep showing up wherever I am and demand to talk to me.

Adam: I know. I know. I know. And I’m sorry for earlier. I was out of line.

Sally: Yeah, you were. And now you turn up here tonight.

Adam: I just… I came here to relax. I didn’t expect to see you and nick. But after seeing the two of you together, it’s eating away at me. I know that is a mistake, okay? You deserve better than that, sally.

Sally: Okay, well, you know, it’s none of your concern.

Adam: It is. It is. I feel like I’m the one who drove you into his arms, okay? I regret every foolish thing I did to drive you away. I want to be with you. We belong together. Marry me, sally.

Elena: Well, I am officially giving up and going home. I hope your night ends better than mine.

Lily: Yeah, we’ll see. It was good to see you. And, please, let’s catch up soon.

Elena: We definitely will.

Lily: Bye.

Excuse me.

Elena: Oh, sorry.

Lily: Daniel?

Daniel: Lily.

Lily: [ Chuckles ]

Connor: Mom, your new apartment is really cool. But you know what the coolest part is?

Chelsea: What?

Connor: You’re back and we’re together.

Chelsea: I’m so happy to be back. I missed you so much. And I look forward to spending so much time here together.

Connor: Can I decorate my new room however I want?

Chelsea: Uh, sure. Well, I mean, within reason. Maybe we can do it together. It’ll be our own special project.

Connor: Yeah, that would be fun.

Chelsea: Yeah. And we can do movie nights and we can eat popcorn and get special treats downstairs at crimson lights.

Connor: Awesome.

Chelsea: Just the two of us.

Connor: That sounds nice, mom. But will you promise me something?

Chelsea: Anything.

Connor: Promise you won’t disappear on me again?

Ashley: Hi. What are you doing here? I was on my way to see you. What’s wrong, honey?

Abby: Uh, sorry. I just — I couldn’t sit there any longer. It hurt too much.

Ashley: What’s going on? What? What? What?

Abby: [ Voice breaking ] Mom, it’s bad. It’s a really bad.

[ Sniffles ]

Diane: [ Sighs ]

[ Scoffs ] Why aren’t you responding to my messages?

Jack: As you can see, I am at work. I don’t want to be here late today. If you don’t mind, I really don’t have time for interruptions.

Diane: [ Sighs ] Obviously, you’re working. And I can see that you’re busy, but that is no excuse for ignoring my calls. I have an urgent matter that i need to discuss with you.

Jack: There is always something urgent with you. I’m sorry. I don’t have time for your drama right now.

Diane: Okay, well, maybe you don’t want to see me and you don’t want to speak to me, but you at least need to listen to what I have to say.

Nick: [ Sighs ] I guess, uh, see ya around?

Sally: [ Inhales sharply ] Yeah. Um…you know, after our talk earlier, I, uh — I don’t know. I feel like there’s still so much left unresolved. Would you maybe want to join me for a drink and find some answers? Wait. I just want to be clear. I still do not want to talk about your loan offer. So, if you bring it up…

Nick: We can discuss or not discuss whatever you want.

Sally: [ Breathes deeply ]

Chelsea: There’s something i need to share with you.

Connor: Okay. Sounds serious.

Chelsea: It is serious. I want to tell you where I’ve been the past few days. Do you remember when I was in the hospital last year?

Connor: Yeah. After you got out, we went to see grandma.

Chelsea: That’s right. Do you remember why I was in the hospital?

Connor: I thought it was because you were sick. Are you sick again? Is that what you need to tell me? Why do dermatologists worldwide recommend

provided by…

Adam: Connor, everything is going to be okay. Just give your mom some time to explain, okay?

Chelsea: Last year, um… last year, I needed help because I was having trouble determining what was real. I was feeling lost, and i couldn’t distinguish what was right or wrong. I was feeling confused, so it was hindering me from focusing on what was important. But I recovered, and I thought that that was past me. And then over the past few days, I could feel myself slipping again, except it felt different this time. It, um… it felt worse, actually. So I decided it was best if i went back to the hospital.

[ Sighs ] Um… connor, tell me, do you — do you know what depression is?

Connor: I think it’s like being sad. Is that why you went to the hospital? Because you felt sad?

Chelsea: That was one of the reasons.

Connor: [ Voice breaking ] I’m sorry, mom. I didn’t mean to make you sad. I didn’t mean to hurt you about johnny or me or anything else. I was just scared.

Chelsea: Oh, connor.

Connor: [ Exhales heavily ]

Phyllis: Hmm.

Tucker: Mm.

[ Chair legs scrape ] Let me buy you a drink.

Tucker: No, I’m just waiting on a to-go order.

Phyllis: Oh, come on. One drink. Sit down. It’ll be fun. You work so hard. Come take a load off.

Sally: So, how do you think things are gonna go at newman media under the new leadership?

Nick: Well, I don’t know if nate’s the right man for the job. And I hate to say it, but his recent behavior has me questioning the man’s integrity.

Sally: Really?

Nick: Plus, I was a real big fan of the old regime. You made a believer out of me, sally. I know you may not be open to it, but I’m hoping you take my offer for a loan as a vote of confidence in your talent.

Sally: As opposed to…?

Nick: Personal favor, i guess.

Sally: [ Clears throat ] Well, despite the fact that you promised not to press me on the issue, I am very grateful for your generous offer.

Nick: Great. Then we can, uh —

Sally: But before you say anything else, I do want to make something perfectly clear. I do not want anyone, including you, thinking that I’m trying to manipulate a romantic situation. ‘Cause there is going to be a ton of people out there who will immediately jump to that conclusion. We both know who they are. That is 100% not who I am. And if there is any doubt on that, then I don’t want your money.

Jack: Honestly, I’m really not interested in what you have to say. Lately, there is always some fresh hell.

Diane: The hell started when tucker mccall came back to town. Jack, you need to watch out for him.

Jack: Why?

Diane: Because there is one last thing about the deal I made with tucker out in L.A. That i haven’t told you yet.

Jack: Of course there is.

Diane: What you don’t know is that tucker wanted me to share any information or documents i could find pertaining to the financial stability of jabot.

Jack: What?

Diane: Yes, he’s obviously looking for a weakness that he can use to exploit the company.

[ Folder thuds ] But I — no! I never gave tucker anything. I mean, you have to know that i would — I would never do that to you or kyle.

Jack: One more lie. One more secret. One more deceit. Another shoe dropping, right on schedule! If you were so loyal, if it was so important for me to have this critical information, why did you hold on to it for so long? Why is it coming out just now?

Diane: [ Sighs ] How white do you think your teeth really are?

Diane: I wanted to tell you before, but I didn’t want to cause any more problems for the family than necessary. Really. Before tucker came back to genoa city, I had no intentions of giving him any information about jabot. But then once he showed up here, I knew that whatever he had planned was not going to be derailed by my lack of cooperation.

Jack: How many times did i ask you if there was more to your arrangement with mccall?

Diane: [ Sighs ] I-I know. I-I know. I was — I was trying — I was trying to handle it by myself and — and making it all go away. I was looking for the perfect opportunity to set a trap for him. I thought that if I could discover his true intentions, then I could catch him red-handed. Jack, you do remember what a ruthless man tucker is. And not to mention all the dangerous people he’s been associated with.

Jack: Yeah, you told me you had plenty of dangerous people in your life, as well.

Diane: [ Sighs ] You mean jeremy stark. And that is exactly who I’m talking about. Because I didn’t get the information to tucker about jabot, he is threatening to use jeremy as a way to get revenge on me.

Jack: Wait. How does he intend to do that?

Diane: Tucker has already told ashley about my connection to jeremy. Jeremy served 6 years of a 10-year prison sentence, but he’s about to be released, and we can be sure that he is not coming out reformed. And now — now, on top of that, nikki and phyllis and ashley are threatening to plant the idea in jeremy’s head that I helped put him away. If they’re successful, he’s gonna want payback.

Abby: I think my marriage might be over.

Ashley: What are you talking about?

Abby: Chance doesn’t think he’s the right person for me. And the worst part is he doesn’t think he wants to be.

Ashley: I don’t understand, honey. You found him. You brought him home when everybody thought he was dead. I mean, you’ve been by his side every step of the way. He went through all this trauma, and there you were. And now he wants to leave this marriage without provocation?

Abby: But he was. He — he was provoked.

Ashley: Did he cheat on you?

Abby: No, mom.

[ Sniffles ] It wasn’t chance. Chance didn’t do anything wrong. It was me. I cheated on him.

[ Sighs heavily ]

Adam: [ Sighs ] Come here, connor. Listen to me.

Connor: [ Sniffles ]

Adam: Nothing that happened is your fault. None of the things your mother is dealing with right now you caused, okay?

Chelsea: Your father is telling you the truth. This is not about one thing that happened or one person. The truth is I have been struggling with a few things in my life, both past and present. But look how things have turned around for me, huh? I was looking for a stable, safe place to live, besides the hotel, and look — I found this great apartment, right?

[ Sighs ] Connor, I — I was just struggling with, um, some stuff with my work. And then — and then we lost rey so suddenly. I know that was really hard on us, right?

Connor: I miss him.

Chelsea: I know. And then I think it was just hard for me when johnny didn’t embrace the news about me being his biological mom. Giving birth to the two of you is the best thing that has ever happened to me. You are my whole world. You know that, right?

Connor: Yeah.

Chelsea: Yeah. And I guess I just — I don’t know. I guess I was hoping, you know,

[Sighs] Johnny could be a part of our family and he could add some light to a life that is already so bright because you’re in it. But it’s not johnny’s fault, either. You know, he’s — he’s allowed to have his feelings.

[ Sighs ] Anyway, um, I am working really hard with my doctors at the hospital to figure out why i went through this period of sadness and — and how I can get better.

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Connor: Is it over now?

Nick: Sally, I don’t think you’re manipulating our relationship. There’s nothing illicit about this. But I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable on account of me or anyone else for the motivation of me offering you this loan.

Sally: I’m sorry. It’s just, enough people assume that adam only hired me for personal reasons that I can’t help worrying that it might happen again.

Nick: Look, I’m not gonna deny that our relationship means a lot to me. But it’s got nothing to do with this offer. I saw early on when we were working together, before we got involved, that you’re a very talented woman. And chloe’s obviously a very driven person, and I think the two of you make an incredible team. So, if you do, in fact, want to start your own fashion label, there’s just no chance it doesn’t become a powerhouse. So, why wouldn’t I want to help you achieve that?

Sally: There’s just one problem. I don’t want to start another fashion line.

Sally: Running newman media gave me a taste of something bigger. You know, I realized I’m capable of so much more than just designing dresses. I mean, of course I still love the fashion world and can undeniably out-design the best of them. But I don’t know. I just feel like going back to where chloe and I were before is taking a step backward.

Nick: There’s nothing wrong with taking a step backward, sally. Sometimes you got to do that to propel yourself forward.

Sally: I know. And I’m not saying that I have to start at the top. I just… I don’t know. I might want to try something new.

Nick: Like what?

Sally: Well, I thought about maybe putting my fashion sense into interior design or an event-planning business. I don’t know yet.

Nick: [ Sighs ] Well, I think you’d be successful in either one of those arenas. Take interior design, for example. You could combine your amazing artistic sense along with your keen eye for what looks good. There’s just no way it fails. That goes for anything you put your mind to. And here’s the thing, sally — you don’t have to have all the answers right now. You take it one step at a time. And I hope you know, if you want, I’ll be right there by your side to help you figure it all out.

Phyllis: I would like to propose a toast.

Tucker: To what?

Phyllis: You. And, uh, the interesting tidbit you gave to ashley about diane and her activity in los angeles with jeremy stark.

Tucker: I hope you can put it to good use.

Phyllis: Absolutely. No stone unturned.

Tucker: Glad to hear it.

Phyllis: I’m not done. I have another stone.

Tucker: What stone’s that?

Phyllis: You. Why are you here, tucker? What are you doing back in this town? What do you plan to get out of all of this?

Ashley: You cheated on chance? Oh, honey. I’m assuming this is just a one-time, meaningless mistake, right? And you’re never gonna see this person again?

Abby: [ Sniffles ] This person is gonna be a part of our lives forever. Or, at least, dominic’s life.

Ashley: You slept with devon?

Abby: [ Sighs ] We were both feeling so alone and isolated. Amanda was in virginia for who knows how long, and chance — he’s just always working. I-I don’t know. It just happened.

Ashley: I know, honey. Sometimes things just happen. Sometimes they just happen.

Chelsea: As your mom, i always want to be honest with you. And I want this sadness to stop. I really do. But it’s an illness. It’s not like a physical one, like a — like a cold or an infection, but a mental one. So I need help from my doctors to learn how to manage it and how to make it go away. But unfortunately, these things take time.

Connor: But if it isn’t physical, how bad did it have to be for you to know you had to go to the hospital?

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Um… it was very bad. It hurt very intensely on the inside. Even if people couldn’t see it on the outside, the — the pain was unbearable. And I — I just wanted it to stop.

Connor: Was it so bad you wanted to die? Vicks vapostick.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Connor: Hey, you guys, I’m not a kid anymore. I know what it means to un-alive yourself.

Chelsea: What?

Adam: Un-alive yourself? Where did you hear that?

Connor: [ Sighs ] It’s what they call it online. When someone doesn’t want to live anymore, they un-alive themselves. You can’t use other words for it without getting into trouble on some sites.

Chelsea: Okay, well, I-I-I do not love that you’re seeing those kinds of things online. But, um — ugh. But…yes. There was a moment when my head told me the pain would go away if I wasn’t here anymore. Not because there aren’t wonderful things in my life — because there are. It’s just the pain was so heavy, I couldn’t feel those wonderful things through all the sadness. It was a scary, terrible time for me. I was feeling desperate and alone with nowhere to turn. But the point is, I don’t feel that way anymore. And I promise I am going to work so hard so I never feel that way again.

Connor: I’ll help you, mom.

Chelsea: [ Exhales sharply ]

Sally: I hope you know that your belief in me means everything. Which is why I am going to turn down your generous offer.

Nick: [ Chuckles ] Are you sure? I know you told chloe you were gonna consider it.

Sally: As I said before, I do not want anyone thinking, including myself, that if my business succeeds —

Nick: When your business succeeds.

Sally: [ Sighs ] Okay.

When my business succeeds, it’s only because nick newman bankrolled me. Or because you fought for me to keep my job at newman media. Or even because adam newman made his girlfriend ceo. I want it to be because I did it myself. Because chloe and I are just that good. Does that make sense?

Nick: Yeah. And as much as I want to be by your side to help you, I cannot wait to see you triumphantly rise to the top.

Sally: Well, maybe you can be by my side…in a different way. If that’s what you want.

Nick: Yeah. Um… every time I’m with you, it never fails to make me want to spend more time with you.

Sally: Well…then I guess the question becomes… what are we, really? You know, are we just friends? Or is this going somewhere?

Nick: I sure hope so.

Jack: I appreciate you telling me the truth. It gives the family, the company time to prepare for whatever tucker has up his sleeve.

Diane: Well, good. I’m — I’m hoping you can outsmart him.

Jack: How much have you told kyle about this situation?

Diane: Well, I told him about jeremy’s release and my fears on that end. And thankfully, he vowed to protect me. But that’s exactly why I didn’t tell him about tucker’s demands for jabot’s financials or my plan to try to trap him. I was scared that kyle, being the protective son that he is, would — would try to confront tucker immediately.

Jack: Yeah, you’re probably right about that.

Diane: Yeah, and I refuse to expose him to that level of threat.

Jack: Last thing I want to do is put my son in a dangerous situation. Look, I have to ask. Did you have a hand in putting this man behind bars?

Diane: Yes. I made a deal — immunity for turning him in anonymously.

Jack: I suppose you did the right thing.

Diane: [ Sighs ]

Jack: I mean, he couldn’t commit any more crimes. He… you extricated yourself from the situation.

Diane: Jack, I have told you, and I have told kyle. Nobody else can know. And your sister is not helping things by doing everything she can to put stark on me.

Jack: I’ve talked to ashley. I’ve told her to back off.

Diane: Well, obviously, she didn’t listen. Ho. Ho. Ho.

Sally: [ Exhales heavily ] This feels right.

Nick: I know we said we were just gonna come in for a drink. But how would you feel about going out and celebrating?

Sally: Depends on what we are celebrating.

Nick: So much.

Sally: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: This new chapter for us, your new possible business venture.

Sally: Whatever it is.

Nick: It’s still worth celebrating. I’m gonna go shower, which is also an invitation for you to come into the shower.

Sally: [ Chuckles ]

Tucker: I’ll tell you exactly what I’ve told everyone else who’s asked. My sole focus is ashley. Um…I’ve made a lot of big mistakes in my life, and — and breaking her heart was possibly the biggest. And there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t wish I could take that back.

Phyllis: Hmm. Done some soul searching, have you?

Tucker: Yes, actually. Some deep soul searching. I admit that I asked diane to update me on ashley, but the reason is I missed her and, uh, I wanted to know if maybe she’d found someone else. Then I noticed how easily diane had slipped back in with the abbotts, so I figured maybe i could do it, too.

Phyllis: Uh-huh.

Ashley: Honey, I know that you and chance love each other. You love each other so much. I think if he could forgive you, you — you could get past this.

Abby: I don’t know. I don’t know if this is something that he can just get past…

Ashley: Well —

Abby: …Enough to save our marriage.

Ashley: Step by step, okay? The first thing you’re gonna have to do is change your relationship with devon, honey. You’re gonna have to. I mean, just because he’s dominic’s biological father doesn’t mean the two of you have to be this close. I’m assuming that’s what got you in this situation, right?

Abby: So now I have to lose devon, as well?

Ashley: [ Sighs ] Well, what do you think? I mean, if chance does decide to forgive you and you do want to save your marriage, then he has every right to not want you and devon to be so close, honey, don’t you think?

Abby: Yeah. Yeah. I guess you’re right.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door slams ]

Jack: Good to see you, abby.

Abby: Hi, uncle jack.

Jack: Ashley, could I speak to you alone for a moment?

Ashley: I’m in the middle of something with my daughter.

Abby: No, mom, it’s fine. I actually I have to get home to dominic.

Ashley: Are you sure?

Abby: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love you.

Ashley: Honey, I love you so much. It’s gonna be okay.

Abby: Thank you for the talk. Bye, uncle jack.

Ashley: I’ll call you, honey.

[ Door opens ]

Ashley: Oh, what? Are you here riding to diane’s rescue once again?

Jack: I thought I made it clear you were to leave diane alone.

Ashley: And just because you said it doesn’t mean I’m going to do it.

Adam: Connor, your mom and I — we didn’t share this with you to scare you. We shared it with you because honesty is important.

Chelsea: And, you know, I — I regret keeping the fact that i was johnny’s biological mom a secret for so long. Moving forward, I’m not gonna keep anything from you. And we can talk about all of this today, tomorrow as long as you want. No shame, no secrets. We can talk about anything.

Adam: Yeah. And no matter what, we are a family. And we’re gonna get through this together. And for whatever reason, if you don’t want to talk to us about it, you can talk to sharon, you can talk to one of your teachers at school. But for no reason do you need to feel ashamed or embarrassed for your mother because she certainly isn’T.

Chelsea: That’s right. And in order to get through this, I have to face it head on. I have an illness and I am getting treatment and I am getting better. When you really need to sleep.

Nick: Thought you were coming in the shower. What’s got you so caught up?

Sally: I had an idea. It just came to me — a new business model. Look.

Nick: This is great. I mean, this is it. This is your gift. It’s your vision.

Sally: You really like it?

Nick: I do. Even if I can’t help you bring it to life, I cannot wait to see you and chloe run with this.

Sally: This is where I want to be.

Connor: Is it okay with you, dad, if I spend the night here with mom? I want to stay close so she knows she’s not alone and never has to be.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Yes, of course you can. I’ll grab a few of your things from the ranch and I will drop them back off here.

Chelsea: Bye.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ]

Connor: I don’t know what I’d do if something really bad ever happened to you.

Chelsea: Ohh. You don’t have to worry about that because that is never gonna happen. And I’m so happy you want to stay here. I’m so excited to spend time with you. But making me feel less alone is not your job. It’s my job to take care of you. And you know what?

Connor: What?

Chelsea: It’s the best job in the whole world.

Connor: [ Laughs ]

Chelsea: And I promise I am gonna work with my doctors and I am gonna get better. Because the two of us — we have a lifetime of things to do together.

Connor: [ Chuckles ]

Chelsea: Ahh.

[ Sighs ]

Tucker: Ah, finally. Thanks for the hospitality.

Phyllis: You are welcome.

Diane: Well, look at the two of you with your heads together.

Tucker: I was just leaving.

Diane: Oh, not on my account, I hope. As far as I’m concerned, you can collude all you want, but I’ve got to say — you’re not going to win.

Phyllis: You’re very confident, diane.

Diane: Yes, well, jack and kyle are in my corner, so no matter who or what you throw at me, they’ve got my back. So you and you and nikki and ashley are no match for us. So you better be prepared to come with everything you’ve got because this has officially turned into a war.

Jack: I cannot believe your audacity. I told you this is about one thing — protecting my son and preserving a relationship that means the world to kyle.

Ashley: Means the world to kyle or means the world to you?

Jack: Oh, come on.

Ashley: No. You know who diane is, and you know what she’s capable of. And yet, time and time again, we find out more things that she’s done. She runs to you. She says she’s the victim. She worms her way right back into your good graces, and you go out of your way to protect her again.

Jack: That’s a bit of an exaggeration, don’t you think?

Ashley: No, I don’t think that. I believe it’s an accurate observation, jack, because I’m watching you and you’re constantly going to battle for her. And I know you’re not taking into consideration the depth of her illegal activities.

Jack: You’ve got a lot of nerve, considering how tucker is using you right now, coercing you into doing his bidding. Did you know that he asked diane to pass along jabot financial information? Yeah, and he turned on her when she didn’t comply. That’s what this is about, Ashley. I guess your considerable charms didn’t extricate that particular secret from Tucker. He is looking for weaknesses in Jabot right now so that he can exploit them…the same way he is exploiting your hatred toward Diane. Whatever Tucker McCall is really after, it appears that you are his unwitting accomplice.

Next Week on “The Young and The Restless” —

Jack: While we are waiting for the first course, I thought we might go around the table and each say what we are most thankful for today.

Daniel: Lily.
