Adam: Oh, hello, nate.

Nate: Adam.

Adam: Hey, will you hang on a minute? Have you seen victoria or victor here?

Nate: No.

Adam: Have you seen them anywhere? I mean, there’s nobody at the office.

Nate: I don’t know why you’d think I’d know anything about that.

Adam: Uh, it’s just a question.

Nate: If you recall, I no longer work at newman enterprises.

Adam: Right. And from that information, I should reasonably assume that you’re no longer involved with victoria, either?

Nate: Whether I am or I’m not, that’s none of your damn business. Although, I do find it interesting that neither victor or victoria chose to fill you in on their activities. So, I’ll reasonably assume that you haven’t risen that far up in the ranks from when you were my assistant. They’re still keeping you in the dark. Not exactly exactly a sign of confidence.

Adam: Mm. And a good evening to you, sir.

Sally: You just make friends everywhere you go, don’t you?

Adam: See, that’s the thing. Nate, uh, likes to make a show that he hates me, but way down, deep inside? He really, really hates me. Especially after losing his job.

Sally: What was that, that he said about your family still shutting you out? I thought you were getting past that.

Adam: No, forget about it. He doesn’t know anything. My relationship with my father has never been closer.

Nikki: Oh, god. I gotta get out of here. Okay. Okay. Oh, god.

[ Nikki sobbing ] What? Eve?

Cole: Victoria. It’s me, cole. Listen, I’m at the house that nikki told me to go to, but she’s not here and obviously, neither are you. I’m all by myself, I think. You know, it’s a little weird ’cause I’m in somebody’s house and I have no idea whose it is. Anyway, just give me a call as soon as you get this.

[ Jordan grunting ]

[ Jordan chuckling ]

Nikki: Claire? No. Who– who are you?

Jordan: You can call me jordan, for now.

Nikki: Oh. Oh. What do you want with me?

Jordan: Sh, sh, sh, sh. You need to relax. You need to stay calm. Don’t push yourself. You know, you really shouldn’t have pulled that iv out. You need it. It’s important. You need to stay hydrated. Your family should be arriving soon.

Nikki: My– my family?

Jordan: Yes. Isn’t that wonderful? And pretty soon, you’re going to be joining them. But in the meantime, you need to rest and relax. Stay calm. You’re not a well woman.

Nikki: Oh, my god. No. No.

Jordan: No, what, nikki?

Nikki: You did this to me.

Jordan: No, nikki newman. You did this to yourself. Your whole family did this to you.

Claire: Aunt jordan, we’re here.

Victoria: I thought you said she’d be home? That’s what she told me. Well then, where is she?

Claire: Hello? Uh, maybe she went back to the hospital.

Nick: What hospital?

Claire: I don’t know. I’m sorry. Can I get you all something? Some water, something warm?

Nick: Sure, water. It’s fine. Thank you.

Claire: Your mother will be fine. Please don’t worry.

Victoria: Why are you saying it like that?

Jordan: Visitors. Hello.

Claire: This is my aunt jordan.

Jordan: I’m sorry. I– I didn’t hear you come in.

Victor: Excuse me, we are looking for my wife.

Jordan: Oh.

Victor: Nikki newman.

Jordan: She’s still at the hospital.

Victoria: But uh, you said that…

Jordan: Oh, please rest assured, she’s going to be fine. The doctors are just going to keep her overnight.

Victor: Well, if you just give us the name of the hospital, we’ll find it.

Jordan: Well, I’m afraid that visiting hours are– are over. They won’t let you in.

Victor: Trust me, they’ll let me in.

Sally: So, I’m supposed to believe that everything is fine between you and victor? That you guys have mended all the fences and everything else that needs mending?

Adam: Well, not everything, but we’re working on it.

Sally: Good. I’m glad.

Adam: Yeah. There’s actually been, uh, quite a lot that has happened since the last time that I saw you, but, uh, you seem to be avoiding me ever since we were together that night.

Sally: I’m not avoiding you, adam. I just needed some time to process everything. That’s all.

Adam: I understand.

Sally: Yeah, I’m just still conflicted about everything.

Adam: No, I get that. I do.

Sally: Do you?

Adam: Look, neither one of us were expecting for that to happen, but it did. You know, I’m not gonna pretend like I’m not happy that it did. Because it proved to me that what we have is still there.

Sally: I just don’t want to go backwards, adam.

Adam: I’m not asking you to. All I’m asking is for you to look at me as I am now.

Sally: Yeah, but who you are now is still the man who admitted that he was willing to use his father’s illness to take him down.

Adam: But I didn’t go through with it.

Sally: You almost sound proud of that?

Adam: Yeah, I– I kind of am. You know, it showed some maturity, some restraint on my part.

Sally: And you know, you set the bar really low for yourself. It’s still a lie, adam. You still played everyone, including me. I really, really want to be able to trust you, but I–

Adam: I know. It was a precarious situation. But I finally did tell you the whole truth, okay? The old me– the old me would have buried that. But I didn’T.

Sally: You just keep lowering the bar. Eventually, it’s just gonna be on the floor, just a wrinkle in the rug. Like, “hey, everybody, at least I didn’t lie to everyone today, so give me some credit. It’s the new me.”

Adam: That’s correct. That’s totally accurate. But I am sincerely sorry that I could not let you in on what I was up to. Okay? We used to be a team. Is that why you’re upset?

Sally: No. I will tell you why I’m upset.

Adam: Okay. Okay, I get it. But look, I was a victim in this.

Sally: How?

[ Adam sighing ]

Adam: Victor was the one who told the biggest lie of all. He made this entire thing up, trying to trap one of us into betraying him. And of course, everybody suspected that it would be me. But surprise. It actually turned out to be nate.

Audra: Uh, so tell me, what’s going on? What’s the story with you and the newmans?

Nate: The story is, I’m not a part of that family, so they don’t need me.

Audra: Come on, that’s it?

Nate: In the end, it was. Victor pretended he was slipping. Forgetting things, people’s names, what year it was. You know, classic symptoms of early-stage dementia. He was pretty convincing.

Audra: Why would he do that?

Nate: Well, he thought his children were so angry that he had taken the reins at newman again, that one of them would betray him. Use his condition to oust him.

Audra: That’s seriously messed up.

Nate: You’ll get no argument from me there.

Audra: Hm. So, how did victor faking senility come back to bite you?

Nate: Well, I was the one who made the suggestion that we get him some help. Keep it quiet. Send him to a private sanitarium where he could be taken care of without any media scrutiny.

Audra: Except victor wasn’t really losing it and he thought you were making a play to take over.

Nate: Victoria would have taken over, but yes, that’s basically it.

Audra: Mm. You kind of walked right into that one, didn’t you?

Nate: Look, I understand how victor saw it from his perspective. Like I was making a move on his position, but I am a doctor. I was genuinely concerned about the man’s well-being. What? You don’t believe me?

Audra: No. I believe, um, that’s the story you tell yourself and anyone who asks, but I know you too well, nate. This wasn’t just a mission of mercy. You were making a play and victor shot you down. Yeah, yeah, yeah

real fruit…

and whole grains. Yeah, yeah, yeah

doing something

good for yourself

has never been this easy.

Just do what’s delicious.

Adam: He fooled us all.

Sally: And you’re okay with that?

Adam: With victor’s loyalty test? I mean, that’s what he does. I get it. He thought that his children had an agenda and I mean, he wasn’t wrong. Victoria wanted her old job back. Nick wanted to make sure that I wasn’t rewarded for anything. And you already know what my plan was.

Sally: That’s some family you got there.

Adam: Oh, yeah. We’re fun, aren’t we? And now after all this, he wants the three of us to come back together and work it out.

Sally: Mm. That’s clearly not possible.

Adam: No. Especially since nick and victoria go out of their way to avoid me. We can’t even be in the same room together. It’s kind of a theme for me lately. The people in my life, avoiding me.

Sally: I told you I needed some space.

Adam: I remember. But the truth is it was making me crazy. Not seeing you, talking to you. I would sit around and wonder where do we go from here? I mean, have you thought about that at all, sally? What happens now?

Victor: I would like to see my wife, nikki newman.

Jordan: Well, I can– I can order a car service for you. I would offer you my car, but I’ve been having some mechanical problems. A regulator, alternator, something like that.

Nick: A car service will be fine. Thank you.

Jordan: Oh, of course. Of course. Time is of the essence. Claire, would you mind?

Claire: Of course.

Victoria: You still haven’t told us what exactly happened to my mother?

Jordan: Oh, of course. Um, let me see what I can recall. Uh, we– we were having a lovely dinner and she was singing claire’s praises for everything that claire has done working with her and she was, uh, very effusive. Is that the right word? Um, and– and then at the end of the meal, uh, something changed and– and she just seemed off.

Victor: What do you mean by something seemed off?

Jordan: Well, she started rambling. And, um, just couldn’t seem to follow a conversation. Almost as if she’d been drinking.

Nick: My mother is a recovering alcoholic. She hasn’t had a drink in years.

Jordan: Oh, I see. I– I– I didn’t know that. That’s interesting.

Victoria: So, what happened? How did she end up in the hospital?

Jordan: Oh, well, um, after dinner, I suggested that she stay here. I didn’t think it was safe for her to be leaving to go to her sisters. I thought that if she spent the night, that maybe in the morning she’d feel better and could leave then. I mean, I know that I don’t like to travel when I’m not feeling well.

Victor: Now, tell me more about her seizure.

Jordan: Well, I’m getting to that.

Victor: No. I want to hear it now.

Jordan: Well, I offered to make up the guest room for her, but she was very insistent about leaving. And that’s when she started to have a seizure. She collapsed right there where you’re sitting, mr. Newman. So, I called 9-1-1. And thank god. They arrived within a few minutes.

Nick: Was she able to get treatment in time?

Jordan: Oh, yeah, she’s fine. They gave her a– a– an anti-seizure medication. Uh, uh, uh, phenytoin. And sure enough, she stabilized within 30 minutes.

Victor: I really appreciate you helping her.

Jordan: There’s no need for your appreciation, mr. Newman. I mean, you have a lovely wife. I felt like I knew her the minute I met her.

Claire: The car will be here in 15 minutes.

Jordan: Thank you, darling. So, can we fix you something to eat while you’re waiting?

Victor: No, thank you.

Nick: We’re fine. Thank you.

Victoria: No. None of us are hungry at all. We just– we want to see our mother.

Jordan: Well, I suggest that you have a seat and you all relax. A seat and you all relax. Because there isn’t going to be a car.

Victoria: Uh, claire just told us that there was a car.

Jordan: And there won’t be a hospital you’re going to either, I’m afraid.

Nick: What the hell is this? What are you talking about?

Jordan: What this is, young man, is that it’s time to start telling the truth. All of it.

Victor: What is this? Is this some kind of a sick story? Where’s my wife?

Jordan: All in due time.

Nick: I’m done waiting. Tell me where my mother is or I’m calling the police.

Jordan: Really? I wouldn’t do that if I were you.

Victoria: Are we supposed to be frightened of you or something?

Jordan: Well, that depends on what you’re frightened of. Now, if you want to see your mother again, you’ll shut up and listen to me.

Victoria: Ah, this is absurd.

Nick: Lady, I don’t know who you are or what you’re up to–

Victor: Sh, sh, sh, son, son. Let her speak. Go on.

Jordan: All right. But first, I have a question for you, mr. Newman. Do I look familiar to you? Maybe something in the eyes.

Victor: I’ve never seen you in my life.

Jordan: That is true. But you did know my sister, intimately. Eve howard.

Victor: Eve howard?

Jordan: Yeah. And she loved you and you betrayed her and you broke her heart. And you threw her out like she wasn’t even human. Because that’s who you are. That’s what you do, victor newman. And so I’m here because I’m waiting for all of you to make amends.

Audra: Do you wanna hear my theory?

Nate: Do I have a choice?

Audra: I imagine you thought the best way to protect victor was to clear a path so victoria and you could take over while he was in treatment.

Nate: Exactly. And it was a good plan. Victor needed help, or so we thought. Look, we had to keep it discreet so business partners wouldn’t get nervous. And somebody had to step in during all that to keep the company running. Now tell me, how was that betrayal?

Audra: It isn’t to me, okay? But victor saw your concern as a move against him and it’s his opinion that matters most.

Nate: I was just a scapegoat. If one of his kids had suggested what I did, he would have accepted it unconditionally. I was set up to fail right from the start.

Audra: And who was behind that?

Nate: Nikki, nick, adam. All of them.

Audra: You left someone out.

Nate: With victoria, it’s– it’s a little more complicated.

Audra: I’m sure.

Nate: And I do not want to talk about that.

Audra: Hm. You’re pretty angry, aren’t you?

Nate: Oh, I’m furious.

Audra: Furious enough to want to get back at them?

Sally: I have thought about that night.

Adam: Yeah. And have you come to any conclusions or are you still working it out?

Sally: I honestly don’t know how I feel about it.

Adam: Well, I guess as long as it’s not hatred or regret I can live with anything else.

Sally: There’s never been any hatred, adam. I’ve never stopped caring about you. Even in the moments when you were driving me crazy. And regret, that’s– that’s a different thing altogether.

Adam: Oh, I knew that was coming.

Sally: I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel something. But I don’t know, I also felt like I was betraying nick. Even though that doesn’t really make sense anymore. Or maybe I was just betraying myself for not having the strength to stop it.

Adam: Did you want to stop it?

Sally: No. And that’s what’s so confusing. Because I felt like I– I should have this massive regret. Like I was stepping back to a place where I just didn’t belong anymore.

Adam: With me.

Sally: Yeah. With you. But I didn’t feel that way at all. Look, I– I haven’t reached out to you because I knew that you’d be asking these questions. I– I wasn’t avoiding you. I just really don’t have the answers. You know, it’s– it’s it’s hard to explain. Obviously.

Adam: No, it is. But my feelings have been pretty clear. I can tell you exactly what I’ve been feeling since that night.

Sally: What’s that?

Adam: Longing for you. For us. And hoping that somehow, you feel the same way.

Sally: Oh, you’re not making this any easier.

Adam: I– I don’t mean to put you on the spot, but I would like to know. Do you believe there is any chance for the two of us, moving forward?

Sally: I have thought a lot about it. And I’ve put it out into the universe.

Adam: And?

Sally: So far, it has been unresponsive.

Adam: The universe is very busy. Or maybe it’s waiting for your heart to tell you what to do. To clear away some of that noise and doubt so you can listen to it a little more closely.

Sally: It sounds so simple.

Adam: Okay. It can be. Look, I understand why you are hesitant. I blew our first chance and possibly our second. I know I don’t have the best track record when it comes to maintaining relationships, but I want to fight for this one. Because I believe that night we were together meant something. To both of us.

Sally: Well, of course, it meant something. I think we’re just trying to figure out what it was. So, what do we do now?

Adam: You know what? I have a great idea.

Sally: Oh, god. I’m almost afraid to ask.

Adam: Let’s have dinner here tonight.

Sally: Like a date?

Adam: Like a proper date. No pressure, no expectations. And I promise we’re not going to talk about the future.

Sally: Or longing?

[ Adam chuckling ]

Adam: Right. No longing talk. It will just be the two of us, living in the moment.

[ Sally sighing ]

Sally: Okay.

Adam: Great.

Sally: Yeah. I mean, what could be the harm, right?

Victor: What kind of a scam is this? You want money? Eve howard was a deeply disturbed woman, you know. She made my life a living hell. But she never mentioned having a sister.

Jordan: Because we were estranged at the time. And then she died and we never had the opportunity to heal. If she hadn’t met you, if she hadn’t moved to genoa city, we would have had that chance.

Victor: It took you 40 years to come up with this cock and bull story?

[ Jordan laughing ]

Jordan: So, you don’t think that I’m eve howard’s sister?

Victor: I don’t give a damn who you are. We’re out of here. Let’s go.

Nick: Let’s go.

Victor: We’re gonna find this hospital on our own.

Jordan: Well, your wife is not at the hospital. And her so-called seizure was merely a ruse to get you all here. My mom’s alzheimer’s never changed how much we love her.

Nick: What do you mean my mom’s not at the hospital?

Victoria: What have you done to my mother?

Victor: Lady, we didn’t come here to play games, so you better tell me where my wife is. Or else.

Jordan: Or else what?

Victor: I promise you, you don’t want to find out. Especially not when it involves my family.

Jordan: Oh, your family. Do you mean like my sister? Did my sister, eve, cross you? Is that why you threw her out like trash, victor newman?

Victor: Where’s my wife?

Jordan: Oh, she’s safe, for now.

Victor: I’m through playing games with you.

Jordan: Oh, this is no game. This is as serious as a heart attack, which is what you will all be experiencing very soon thanks to the poison that you just drank in your water bottles. Digoxin. You don’t have long to live. And it’s going to be my utmost pleasure to stand here and watch you die.

Nikki: What have you done to him?

Eve: He died tonight. They took him away. At the end, he finally realized what it meant to be with each other. He was going to give me his name.

Nikki: You’re crazy.

Eve: Am I? Yes, I– I was going to marry victor. And we– we hurried because I knew he couldn’t last much longer, but it was too late.

Nikki: You talked victor into marrying you?

Eve: Oh, no, no. No, no. He asked me. He begged me to. He had to. I gave him a son. I gave him my life.

Nikki: No, no.

[ Nikki panting ]

[ Nikki sobbing ]

Adam: Well, the company seems to be taking off like a rocket.

Sally: I– I don’t know if I would go that far, but it has been encouraging. I’m building something and I love it.

Adam: Well, that’s great. What about nick?

Sally: What about him?

Adam: I mean, have things been tense? Have they been awkward at all?

Sally: Actually, it’s been the opposite. You know, there was a moment there where I considered that maybe he would pull the funding out of the business, but he’s followed through on everything he said he would and he kind of just lets me do whatever I want.

Adam: Well, nick is an honorable man.

Sally: Is that real or sarcastic?

Adam: Can it be both? Nick and I are just not destined to get along, but generally, I’ve known him to keep his word, so I’m glad he kept his promise to you.

Sally: Do you think that’ll ever change? You and nick?

Adam: That we’ll actually be friends? Uh, the odds are against us. Look, we’ve tried. There’s been times where I thought we were gonna have a breakthrough, but it’s just never lasted.

Sally: Well, never say never.

Adam: Well, I love the optimism.

Sally: So, what are you gonna do with connor this weekend?

Adam: Oh, he’s, uh, he’s got a basketball game on friday night. And then after that, we’re just gonna wing it. He made some new friends, which is great, so I don’t want to step on his plans.

Sally: Well, I’m sure he’ll make time for you.

Adam: I miss him. You know, he’s a great kid and after everything he has been through, he’s– he’s actually shockingly normal. You know, there was a while there that I was terrified he was gonna end up like… you know?

Sally: You?

Adam: Yeah. There was a time I thought he had the worst parts of me and that would make things difficult for him. I did not have an easy life.

Sally: But it’s getting better.

Adam: Oh, it’s much better. It’s in large part due to connor. It’s amazing how kids affect your life. It like, changes your perspective and things just become all about them. And it’S… I didn’t mean to.

Sally: No, it’s fine. Really, I’m not that– I’m not that fragile.

Adam: No, I know. Just, it was an insensitive comment. I know that you’re still mourning our daughter.

Sally: You know, I’m really not that hungry. And– and I really don’t want to eat this late.

Adam: Is it? Is it that late? I– I hadn’t noticed.

Sally: This has been lovely. But do you mind if we raincheck this dinner?

Adam: Of course. But you aren’t just blowing me off, are you?

Sally: No, we will get dinner. A proper date sometime soon. But tonight I– I just– I just really need to be alone and sort through some things.

Adam: Sure. I probably gave you a lot to think about.

Sally: You did and I’m glad you did. I just need to go through it on my own.

Adam: Yeah. No, I– I completely understand. Well, let’s get you up to your room.

Sally: Ah, just one more thing.

Adam: What’s that?

Sally: You can’t walk me to my door this time because we always get in trouble when you do that.

Adam: I mean, it’s a good kind of trouble, isn’t it?

Sally: Sometimes, it’s just trouble.

Adam: Can I at least walk you to the stairs? I mean, that’s not too dangerous, is it?

Sally: I think I can handle that.

Adam: Well, I guess this is as far as I go.

Sally: What a gentleman. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Adam: I’m so glad that I ran into you. Thanks for having drinks with me and very nearly having dinner. And I think we should have a– a real date soon. See where it takes us.

Sally: I would like that. I know you’re trying to be better. I can see it.

Adam: Thank you.

Sally: Well, good night.

Adam: Night. Well, I was not expecting that.

Sally: Neither was I.

Nate: I’m angry, but I’m not stupid enough to go after victor newman. That would be professional suicide.

Audra: What will you do?

Nate: Swallow my pride and move on to something else. Again.

Audra: I might be making a move too.

Nate: Really? I thought you were happy at newman media?

Audra: I have some potential opportunities I have to consider.

Nate: Okay. Where?

Audra: Well, I can’t say yet until the deal is finalized, but it’ll be a place where I have much more freedom than I do now. And you know, we could always use smart, strong people to come on board.

Nate: Are you making me an offer?

Audra: I could be, soon. You know, once everything is more concrete. That’s if you’re interested, of course.

Nate: I’ll listen.

Audra: You know, I like surrounding myself with colleagues who I can trust to get the job done, by whatever means.

Nate: Is that how you think of me? Um, I gotta tell you, I’m not as ruthless as you seem to think.

Audra: Mm. Keep telling yourself that.

Victor: You’re crazy. Let’s get out of here.

Nick: Let’s get out of here now. Let me try.

Jordan: You won’t get to the hospital. In fact, you won’t even get out of the house because all the windows and doors are triple-locked.

Nick: This isn’t moving. Maybe there’s another way out.

Victoria: Why are you doing this?

Jordan: Oh, I’ve already told you. So, claire and I can stand here and watch you die.

Victoria: Oh, my god. Cole?

Victor: Cole howard?

Victoria: What the hell?

Claire: Well, he had to be here for the family reunion. Didn’t he, mother?

Summer: Wow.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Summer: Okay. What are we calling this style? Bachelor pad chic? I mean, I don’t see an air mattress or a foosball table, but I actually think that you have room for one over here.

Daniel: Don’t worry, foosball table’s coming. Beer pong table is gonna be over here along with the kegerator.

Summer: Very swanky. But I actually like that lamp. I mean, if it was in a different place, I would like it.

Daniel: Yeah, my designer has great taste.

Summer: Lily?

Daniel: No, I hired someone. Sally Spectra.

Summer: Nice.

Daniel: I know. Look, she just launched a new design firm. Lily suggested that I call her.

Summer: Yeah, because why would you want to consult with your sibling who’s in the design industry

Sharon: Okay, so tell me! What’s the latest? How is aria doing with her hearing aids?

Tessa: Sharon, you saw her yesterday.

Sharon: But she’s a baby. She’s going to make changes and progress on a daily basis and I want to hear all the details. So, how is she adapting to them?

Mariah: Uh, well, I– I can say the kid likes what she likes and she knows what she doesn’t like. We’ve used all of the tips that dr. George suggested.

Tessa: And aria is able to handle the hearing aids for about an hour, but after that, no way.

Mariah: No.

Sharon: Okay, but still, an hour, that’s amazing.

Mariah: Yeah. And to see her little face, her reactions. I mean, it’s obvious she can hear us, which is great.

Tessa: Oh, we read her a bedtime story last night. Mariah was doing all these different voices.

Mariah: And just smiling and giggling and laughing. I’m highly entertaining, clearly.

Sharon: And you didn’t video chat me? Okay. I see how it is.

Mariah: Well, uh, actually we’ll do that later because right now, you have a visitor.

Kyle: That I would throw my aunt under the bus to show whose side I’m on.

Audra: It was a dirty move. Sneaky, even. I’m impressed.

Tucker: I see. Dirty and sneaky Kyle Abbott.

[Chuckles, snorts] I didn’t think you had it in you.

*************************

Kyle: You want to weaken the company without destroying it beyond repair. That requires intel only someone from the inside can deliver. Timing is everything.

Audra: Hmm. He makes a good point.

Kyle: And I don’t trust you. Either of you. No offense.

Audra: None taken.

Kyle: Look, you’re hurt. Part of you wants to hurt back. You want to punish Ashley and all the people important to her. My family. I can see that.

Tucker: Cool. Did you get that from your freshman psychology class? I know more about you than you think, Kyle. I always will. Don’t forget that. So, just so we understand, you are joining us, yes?

Kyle: Well, I’m not gonna let you burn it down out of spite. But I want to run the company, and this is the only way that’s going to happen. So, yes, I am in.

Tucker: Very good. I’m glad you found some clarity.

Chance: Hey.

Jill: Oh. Oh… let me look at you. You are infuriating. Do you know that? You really are. Are you sure it’s okay?

Chance: Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. I promise you, for the fifth time. I’m fine. I’m recovering but I’m being a textbook patient too. Don’t worry.

Jill: Do you know how irritating it is to come into town and find out that your grandson has been in the hospital?

Chance: Well, I took that bullet just to annoy you. You know that, right?

Jill: Hey, hey, hey, don’t joke about nearly dying.

Chance: Come on, I didn’t almost die.

Jill: Stop arguing.

Chance: Okay. All right. Sorry. I promise you, I thought being chief would get me out of the line of fire more often, but clearly, I was wrong.

Jill: Oh, I’m just so happy that your injury wasn’t worse and that that bastard’s been caught.

Chance: Well, justice will be served.

*********************

Tucker: I’m really not in the mood.

Ashley: Clearly. I can see that. What’s got Devon so upset?

Tucker: It’s a personal and private family matter. So it really has nothing to do with you.

Ashley: Unfortunately, whether or not we’re married, we share a grandson. Looks like you need somebody to talk to.

Tucker: Someone maybe, but not you.

[ Ashley sighs ]

Ashley: Can you afford to be so picky? Look at your life. I mean, it’s imploding. Our marriage is done. Your business is done. Looks like your relationship with your child is done. Well, it’s the truth and you do realize that whatever affects devon affects my daughter and our grandson. So, I mean… I’m willing to listen.

Tucker: Which accomplishes what, exactly?

Ashley: That’s a good question. Do you want to fix things? Because if you stop being such an ass, I might be willing to help.

Victoria: Why am I not surprised that you two are here? You’ve just come from being with dad. Am I right?

Adam: Yes, we have.

Victoria: And you want to try to convince me to stay on at Newman because now you are the good and faithful son all of a sudden. Even though everybody knows that’s a lie, except for dad, who’s desperate to believe it because otherwise, you’re just a reminder that not everything Victor Newman touches is golden.

Adam: Yeah. And you hate the fact that maybe I did the right thing, for the right reasons. Because then you would have to take me seriously and would consider that victor might actually trust me. And that terrifies you, doesn’t it?

Victoria: No. See what terrifies me actually is that you might blow up the family and the company. But on a personal level, not a chance.

Nick: Okay. Will you two just stop, okay? Things are actually blowing up around us and we need to figure out a way on how to fix it.

Adam: You’re right. I’m sorry, Victoria.

***************************

Nick: What our dad wants is for the three of us to work together, okay? Now, a day ago, you were terrified about losing dad, right? Well, it turns out dad is the same Victor Newman he always has been. He wants the three of us to work together at his company, and he is not wrong.

Victoria: You know, I just think that that’s kind of funny. Coming from the guy that left Newman.

Nick: Okay. That’s fair. I’ll admit it. I was wrong. My place is at Newman and it always has been. I’m back, Vic, 100%.

Victoria: Well, I guess two out of three isn’t bad. I hope you guys have a really wonderful time working together and I hope dad enjoys every minute of it.

Nick: Oh, come on. Are you really gonna do this to me?

Victoria: What, Nicholas? What is being done to you?

Nick: I am stuck in the middle between dad and Adam with no ally. Do you think that sounds appealing to me?

Victoria: Well, you’re the one that wants to stay on no matter what.

Nick: Look, we both know that eventually he’s gonna do something stupid and shoot himself in the foot. It is inevitable.

Adam: Okay. Not that I don’t treasure the kind words of encouragement, but need I remind you that I didn’t plan any of this. Now, Victor seems to have confidence in me, so why can’t the two of you?

Nick: If Adam implodes and no one is there to mitigate the fallout, he’s gonna drag dad and the company down with him.

Adam: You realize that I can hear you, right?

Adam: Okay. Well, then why are we wasting each other’s time?

Nick: Look, will you just stop talking and listen for once?

Adam: No. What for? So pops can put a fatherly hand on my shoulder?

Victor: Are you finished?

Adam: Apparently so. At least at Newman Enterprises. Unless I’m missing something here?

Victor: I told Victoria if she insisted on demanding that, that she would no longer have a job at this company.

Adam: What is this? Is this another game? A contest? What hoops have you arranged for me to jump through this time, dad?

Victor: Listen carefully. The games are over and you have won. The stance you took when everyone else thought that that my mental capacities were in decline. I could no longer run this company. You came up with a plan to support both me and the company.

Adam: Yeah. But that was my intention, 100%.

Victor: And I appreciate it. And if Victoria doesn’t see it that way, so be it. I run the show around here. If she disagrees with that, she can take a walk.

******************

Victor: Son, that’s enough. I’m sick and tired of all the bickering among you.

Adam: It has grown quite tedious, Nicholas.

Victor: Okay? No more. I will assign a job to you that is of importance. Nicholas, you will take over Nate Hastings’s position. And you will both do your best to convince Victoria to come back to the fold, all right?

Adam: Would that be okay for you, nick?

Nick: It doesn’t look like I have any choice.

Victor: You’re damn right you don’t have a choice. I call the shots, no one else. And if any of you don’t like it, you can all walk. I’ll replace all of you.

Nate: I take comfort in the fact that I don’t have to work with you any more. That is a significant silver lining.

Adam: Oh, yeah, your shirts. They’re still at the dry cleaners, so you’re going to have pick them up now that I’m not your assistant any more.

Nate: Point taken.

Adam: Hmm? Oh, no, I’m just getting started. I mean, I feel like there’s a giant weight that’s been lifted off my shoulders. I don’t know what to do with myself now that I’m not responsible for your– your emails and your schedule–

Nate: You’re annoying as hell, but I’ve got to hand it to you. You took a risk, made a play and ended up surviving.

Adam: You mean when I told my father not to trust you when you were gonna ship him off to treatment?

***************************

Adam: Look, I understand victor’s aim. He was trying to uncover bad intentions, which you clearly had.

Nate: When I believed your father was sick, I wanted him to receive the best care and attention possible. That’s why I pushed for the suggestion I made. You know, I wonder if things really paid off for you in all of this. Did Victor offer you a promotion for convincing him of your– your goodwill?

Adam: The details are still in the works.

Nate: That sounds like an evasion.

Adam: No, I have proven myself to my father. First, as being your assistant, and now by protecting him from an enemy, and that is you.

Nate: And yet, victor hasn’t rewarded you. Which leads me to believe he doesn’t trust you any more than he now trusts me.

Adam: Nate, you and I, we’re not in the same boat.

Nate: Well, since I’m out as you so graciously put it, you can no longer be my assistant.

Adam: What a tragedy.

Nikki: Oh, Victoria, what is it?

Victoria: Are you serious?

Nikki: What I am is exhausted.

Victoria: Oh, yeah. I– I can imagine how draining it must have been keeping such an ugly secret from all of us.

Nikki: Okay. You know, it’s late. I want to send Claire home. I want to convince your father to do the same.

Victoria: Yeah. I’ll bet– I’ll bet that dad has a lot to celebrate. I bet he’s feeling really on top of his game right now after deceiving all of us. Of course not you. No, not you.

Nikki: I know you are upset. We have to talk about this tomorrow.

Victoria: Why? What will it matter? What will it change? Dad exploited our concerns and our fears for what? A trap? That he suspected that one of us would fall into? I mean, does he have that little of faith in me? And you, you just let him do it.

Nikki: Let me tell you this. It’s not like your father consulted with me before beginning this charade. And then when he finally did tell me, I let him know how much I disagreed with it.

***************************Adam: You know, we had those conversations about what you wanted for me, what you hoped that I would become.

Victor: All of that is true.

Adam: I know. And then I started to think about how I’d hurt you over the years and how many times that I’ve let you down. I mean, how many times have we done this, you and I? A truce? And then something almost like a father and son.

Victor: Almost.

Adam: Yeah. Because I wanted to be a member of this family. I wanted to truly fit in. To be a part of this company. This– this amazing entity that you have built. But I fought it. And instead, I held on to anger and that hurt and that rage. Until you started exhibiting some extremely disturbing behavior. And it all changed.

Daniel: I was getting ready to show Chloe and sally the apartment and then, you know, sally, she started asking me if I had any general, like, design ideas.

Lily: You mean besides the poker table and folding chairs?

Daniel: Yeah, those. And then heather and Lucy, they just showed up at the door. I mean, I didn’t even know that they were back in town and there they were, you know. I guess Lucy wanted to surprise me and then well they succeeded on that. But, um, I mean, there was nothing planned about it. You know, I– I was hoping that you would be back from your meeting with Devon and we could talk to sally, talk about her ideas over dinner.

******************

Nina: Hi, honey. Oh, how are you doing? I just talked to your doctor. She said you’re gonna be just fine.

Chance: Yeah, of course I am. I take after my mother. I’m tough. Nothing can bring me down.

Nina: Ah, I love you. Now, what the hell is wrong with you, putting your mother through this? Oh. Oh, are you okay?

Chance: Hey. No, no, no. No crying. No crying. I can’t deal with the crying.

Nina: What do you expect? We’ve been through this before. You know, I can’t stand the thought of anything happening to you.

Chance: I know.

Nina: And you know, this job, it may not be too dangerous for you, but it’s definitely too dangerous for me.

Chance: Hey, look at me. I’m fine. Okay, I’m good as new.

Nina: Geez.

Chance: That’s a promise. Come on.

Abby: Can I say something?

Devon: Please.

Abby: As a Newman and an Abbott, I mean, I know a thing or two about this. My family communicates in business memos and hostile takeovers. I know that you are strong enough to not be manipulated by anyone and if mamie wants to use her leverage in the company to reunite you with your cousin, I mean, it’s really not anything to be afraid of.

************************************

Victor: I’m sorry, my darling.

Nikki: That announcement was not at all what I was hoping you would say.

Adam: Dad, I– I really admire that you’re facing what we all have noticed.

Victor: Is that why you tried to trick me into seeing a doctor? To be evaluated without my consent?

Adam: No. Okay, I wasn’t happy about it, you can trust me on that, but you just said that you were in denial. Would you have co-operated if I was upfront with you?

[ Victor sighing ]

Victor: I guess… I’ve been faking this whole damn thing, you know? Because I was afraid of what was happening to me. I apologize.

Nick: No apologies, dad. I was wondering if that’s what was happening. Obviously, I hoped it wasn’t, but the thought did occur to me.

Victoria: Yes, daddy. And when Nicholas told me, I was wondering the same thing. What needs to be done? How do we handle this?

Victoria: If I had had the chance to explain that to Nate, I think he would would have understood, but he won’t return any of my calls. He won’t answer any of my texts.

Nick: Sorry, Vic.

Victoria: Are you being sarcastic right now?

Nick: No, I’m definitely not sorry that Nate is gone from Newman enterprises. I do think he was setting in motion to get dad out of the company. But I am sorry that you’re hurting.

Victoria: Thank you. So, do you believe that Nate was being self-serving about this plan that he had for dad?

*******************************************

Victoria: Do you know when you first told me that dad was faking his illness to set a trap? I couldn’t believe it.

Nick: That he’d do something like that? Come on. You know better than that.

Victoria: No, not that– that he would think I was a threat or somebody that would be disloyal to him in that way.

Nick: Somebody like Adam?

Victoria: That is not a club I want to join anytime soon.

Nick: Which I said to dad like a dozen times, but he just kept referring back to how angry you were when you got demoted that he had stepped back in as CEO.

Phyllis: Not surprised I ran into you again. Big, little town, right?

Danny: [ Chuckles ] Yeah.

Phyllis: I know you love this time of year. It’s so beautiful out and crisp and cool. And that magical thing that the light does at a certain time of day.

Danny: It’s, uh– it’s nice.

Phyllis: It is nice. I got two words out of you.

Danny: Oh, it’s, um– I mean, you know–

Phyllis: Shh, shh. Yeah, I know. The bug comes back into town and suddenly, I’m the pariah, right?

******************************************

Nate: I’m fired?

Victor: You’re damn right.

Victoria: For what?

Nick: Dad–

Victor: You had it all planned, Nate, didn’t you, hm? Send me to some looney bin surrounded by doctors who didn’t give a damn about my health, just to keep me away from here, right?

Nate: Victor, if you believe that’s true, then, we still have a problem.

Victor: I have all the proof right here. I talked to the head of that looney bin. He gave me a full report.

Nate: Victor, I was protecting your privacy. Of course, I had to arrange things in advance. There needed to be ndas, precautions.

Victor: You are lying now and you were lying then.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Mamie: Unbelievable.

Lily: What’s that, aunt mamie?

Mamie: A day set aside for giving thanks. And I’ve never been more grateful in my whole life. I mean, I’m here with my family, together, the way we should be.

Devon: Mm-hmm. It is kind of unbelievable, isn’t it?

Lily: Kind of?

Nate: And speaking of grateful, I hope you all know how much it means to me to be included. Cheers.

Mamie: Cheers.

Devon: Cheers.

Abby: Hi. Happy thanksgiving, my friend.

Lauren: To you too. Well, you look about as stressed as I am. What’s going on?

Abby: Oh, you know, just the usual restful thanksgiving. Leaving here, devon and I are having drinks with lily and daniel and nate and mamie. Then, we were supposed to go to the newman ranch, but my dad called me and said they had to go out of town unexpectedly. Something to do with nikki. I have no idea what. Which leaves us more time for more turkey with the abbott family. And then, I am heading home and having dessert with just devon and dominic.

Lauren: Wow. It sounds like you need to rack up some frequent flyer miles just for that dinner. And thank goodness this only comes once a year, right?

Abby: Yes.

Lauren: It’ll take a weekend or two to recover and then we’ll be as good as new.

Abby: Please, god.

Lauren: Yes. And thank you so much in the midst of all of your chaos to come to the rescue of the baldwin-fisher thanksgiving catastrophe.

Abby: Got you.

Lauren: Yeah, you’re the best.

[ Both laughing ]

Tucker: Yay.

Audra: Thank you.

Tucker: Is this a ball or what? Huh?

Audra: Eh.

Tucker: I got one question about thanksgiving for you.

Audra: Mm. What is it?

Tucker: Why thursday? What’s the deal with that? They just– the pilgrims were just booked for the weekend, said, “you know what? Let’s just do it thursday. Get it over with.

Audra: You know, I have no idea, but you bring up some valid points.

Tucker: And what’s with the hats? And the shoes with the big buckles on them?

Audra: You know, you said one question. You’ve asked about a dozen.

Tucker: I’m sorry, go ahead.

Audra: Kyle’s role in bringing down jabot from the inside. How do you see that playing out?

Tucker: No, no, no. I don’t want to talk business on thanksgiving. You can do better than that.

Audra: Okay. I’ll try. What do you have in mind?

Tucker: Kyle abbott.

Audra: Excuse me? But didn’t I just?

Tucker: No, no, no. Not kyle abbott and jabot. Kyle abbott and you.

Audra: Okay.

Tucker: You always claim that it’s just fun and meaningless recreational sex, but I know you too well. You can sell that to yourself, but you can’t sell it to me. I think there’s something more going on. What?

Jack: Chelsea.

Chelsea: Hi.

Jack: Can I get you a drink?

Chelsea: I would love one. Oh, but nonalcoholic ’cause I’m driving.

Jack: Follow me, I have just the thing. I am so glad you are back in genoa city. I think billy is too. He missed you a lot.

Chelsea: Well, I missed him. I missed all of you. It’s so good to be home.

Jack: And connor’s doing well, I understand?

Chelsea: He’s doing great. Thank you for asking. He’s happy, jack, and he’s making friends, playing soccer and he’s loving school.

Jack: Well, when you see anita and connor later, please tell them we all said hello. I am so sorry you won’t be at our dining table, but we understand you want to spend thanksgiving with your mother and your son.

Chelsea: Well, thank you for understanding and I will send them your best.

Jack: Enjoy.

Ashley: Happy thanksgiving.

Jack: You all right, buddy.

Billy: Thank you very much.

Ashley: Hi. How are you?

Billy: Cheers.

Jack: So, you’ve made your decision?

Ashley: Well, I haven’t changed my mind.

Jack: A whole room full of people eager to have thanksgiving with you and you’re gonna leave.

Traci: Ooh, hi. Happy thanksgiving everyone. I’m so sorry I’m late. Everything took a lot longer than I thought.

Billy: We have an abbott family tradition. We take turns getting specialty desserts because uh, there’s a few of us that don’t like the uh, traditional ones that mrs. Martinez makes.

Chelsea: Like what?

Billy: Hm. Well, for instance, harrison, he doesn’t like pecans. He finds them disgusting.

Jack: Yeah. And?

Billy: I hate pumpkin pie.

Traci: It is–

Billy: I hate pumpkin pie.

Traci: A travesty, frankly.

Chelsea: And I am only hearing this now?

Billy: I know, I apologize.

Traci: I know. Chelsea, it’s a lot to process, honey. Listen, if you need to talk, you just call me.

Diane: Chelsea, I know that you’re having dinner with your son and, um, your mom, but please stay for some appetizers.

Chelsea: Well, thank you, diane. They look delicious.

Billy: I’m almost afraid to ask, but is adam joining you?

Chelsea: No. I had a conversation with connor and I explained that adam and anita don’t particularly get along and connor didn’t want to put ’em through that, so they’re going to spend some quality time together this weekend.

Billy: Well, good for connor. That’s very mature of him.

Jack: It absolutely is. Understanding the importance of avoiding conflict on a family holiday that’s about love and unity is not only mature, it is wise.

Ashley: Have I ever complimented you on your subtlety, jack?

Jack: No, I don’t think you have.

Ashley: There’s a reason for that.

[ All chuckling ]

Jack: That’s not that funny.

Audra: You know, if I didn’t know any better, I’d think you’re a little jealous I have any connection to kyle abbott.

Tucker: Protective. You are, after all, an essential participant in my plans for jabot.

Audra: Fine. Have it your way. We can call it protective.

Tucker: Mm-hmm. If I didn’t know better, I would say I heard a twinge of disappointment in your voice just now.

Audra: Ah, don’t read too much into it. You know bourbon makes me nostalgic.

Tucker: You know, I’ve been thinking. In some alternate universe, you and I would have– we would have been a perfect match. Unfortunately, in this one, despite everything we’ve been through emotionally and– and personally and professionally, I think maybe we’re just too– we’re just too alike to have a shot at being more than what we already are.

Audra: You really believe that?

Tucker: Absolutely, audra. What’s not to fall in love with? You’re brilliant and talented. And look at you, you’re stunningly beautiful. Hey. I think I am a little jealous. I just think in some other world, we would have been a couple for the ages. You’re never gonna get anything approaching that with kyle abbott. And I think you deserve it.

Lauren: You are such a lifesaver, abby. Letting us use society for our family dinner. I mean, leave it to gloria to show up from singapore with michael unannounced. No phone call. No heads up, no nothing and she expects a thanksgiving dinner. Homemade, right?

Abby: Well, it is gloria. What do you expect? At least she didn’t show up with a whole entourage.

Kevin: That is exactly right, abby. Leave it to gloria to change everybody’s– hi. Holiday plans at the drop of a hat. That thai food and football we were looking forward to, forget it. Instead, we’re having a family reunion nobody wanted.

Abby: Well, hello, kevin and chloe. How are you?

Chloe: Oh, festive. Look, we all have to endure this, so just put on a smile and pretend like you want to be here, like the rest of the adults.

Kevin: You know I don’t like surprises.

Lauren: Oh, come on. You want to see your brother and your mother.

Kevin: Michael, of course, for sure, but gloria? After she has been in and out of prison for the past six months fighting even more potential jail time? It is anybody’s guess what her demeanor is going to be, but I think we can all rule out stoic.

Michael: Come on. Come on. Come on. Hey guys! Ah, kevin! Look at you all. Ah, sister, one. My love. Love, abby. Thank you for making this happen for us today.

Abby: Of course.

Gloria: Hola. Over here. I haven’t slept in months, but I am putting one foot in front of the other because that’s how much you mean to me.

[ Chuckling ] Grandbabies. Where are my grandbabies?

Chloe: They are home with my mother, gloria.

Kevin: We’re gonna see them later for dessert.

Gloria: Oh, yay. Thank god for that because I haven’t seen them in such a long time and my life is not complete without them. They are the air that I breathe, the blood that flows through my veins. They are my legacy. They are my reason.

[ Gloria muttering ]

[ Gloria snoring ]

Kevin: Honestly, I thought it would be worse.

Devon: So, hey, aunt mamie. Since we’re all together like this as a family, I think it might be a great opportunity for you to share with us what tucker’s real intentions are.

Lily: And not the intention he’s trying to sell us all.

Devon: Yeah, because that changes depending on who he’s talking to. Remember that nate coming back to chancellor-winters depends on this information.

Mamie: And I have every intention of telling you whatever it is that I know, but not today. Today is not about business plots. Today is about family, gratitude, us loving each other.

Daniel: Well, you know, I don’t know the man like you all do, but I’d be willing to bet that even tucker mccall isn’t gonna be making any big moves on thanksgiving day.

Nate: Listen, whatever tucker is or isn’t up to, I have to say it again. The fact that you’re even considering letting me return to chancellor-winters after everything that went down, it means a lot to me. And I won’t let you down.

Mamie: You’re darn right that you won’T. Because you’re our blood and we won’t allow it.

Abby: Well, it is so good to see all of you. Michael, gloria, I’m glad that you’re home and I’m glad that you kept her out of prison. Just so you know, the chef prepared everything. It’s all in warming trays in the kitchen, but I did give my waitstaff the day off, so you’ll have to serve yourselves the wine and the dinner.

Gloria: Hey, hey, hey. No, waitstaff? Let me tell you, when I owned glow, there was–

Michael: Oh, your employees must be very grateful and I’m pretty sure that we can manage. Thank you so much.

Abby: Well, um, I hope you have a beautiful thanksgiving, and thank you for making society a part of your celebration.

Kevin: Thank you, abby.

All: Bye.

Lauren: How amazing is she that she put this whole family dinner together with no notice?

Gloria: I guess so. But after eating nothing but prison food for all these months, a warm, home-cooked thanksgiving dinner would have been so nice. Is that too much to ask?

Lauren: Frankly, yes.

Kevin: Chloe, why don’t we have a look in the back and see how our food is coming along?

Chloe: Genius.

Kevin: Thank you.

Lauren: You know, if you had your heart set on a home-cooked meal, it would have been great if you had given me some sort of heads up that you are on your way to genoa city, instead of just showing up on my doorstep.

Michael: To be fair, that wasn’t all gloria’s fault.

Lauren: Oh, how so?

Michael: I sent you several texts and they never went through. Every call I tried to make went dead. I mean, what should we have done? Stayed in singapore?

[ Gloria snoring ]

Ashley: I’m gonna split the difference, okay? I’m gonna go to the club, hopefully have a drink with tucker and devon and then I’ll be back here in time for dinner.

Jack: I guess that’s the best I can hope for. Though I can’t help feeling you’re wasting your time.

Ashley: Well, I guess it’s a good thing it’s my time and not yours.

Jack: I know you’re trying to bring out tucker’s humanity.

Ashley: We’ve been over this, jack. Yes, I want to help mend the rift between tucker and devon. And hopefully, that’ll show tucker that there’s no point in attacking jabot. I don’t know. Maybe.

Jack: There is no decency in that man. There is no civility left.

Ashley: I guess we’ll find out. Okay, I will see you all at dinner.

Billy: All right. Bye.

Ashley: Chelsea, don’t miss me too much.

Chelsea: Hurry back.

[ Indistinct chatter ]

Audra: So, what you’re saying is that I deserve someone like you, just not you.

Tucker: It’s complicated.

Audra: Enlighten me.

[ Tucker sighing ]

Tucker: Oh, brother.

Audra: What is it?

Tucker: See for yourself.

Audra: Wow. I didn’t see that coming. Clearly, you didn’t either. You’re not answering?

Tucker: Nope. I don’t trust that invitation any more than I trust ashley. You heard kyle’s recording of her conversation with jack? There’s nothing vague about that. She’s setting me up.

Audra: Mm. It sounded to me like she’s trying to turn you into a human being. And if she is setting you up, so what? You know, cat and mouse, you love the game. You miss it. And I think you’re holding out hope she does too.

Tucker: What’s your point?

Audra: My point is you can love and hate someone at the same time. Which you should know better than anyone since I think that’s exactly how you’re feeling about ashley. You love her every bit as much as you hate her right now. If it’s a lost cause, then tell her no. Exactly.

Billy: There you go.

Jack: Thank you.

Billy: You’re welcome.

Diane: Hey. Are you okay?

Kyle: I’m okay. Why?

Diane: Ah, you just seem a little preoccupied.

Kyle: Yeah, I guess I am.

Diane: Is it– is it because harrison is spending the day with summer?

Kyle: No. No, not at all. They were both excited about it and I got to spend time with harrison in the park this morning.

Diane: Then, let me guess. It’s about your involvement with audra for this plan of yours? Kyle, I have to tell you, I’m a little worried too.

Kyle: Did I say I was worried about it? I’m not. And you shouldn’t be either. I’ve got this and I’ll be using her way more than she would ever use me. You can take my word for it.

Tucker: You want me to say no to ashley? I don’t think so.

Audra: Then, I rest my case.

Tucker: You don’t have a case. Think about it. This is a golden opportunity for me to find out how far she’s willing to take this thing. No, really. I’d be a fool not to respond. In fact, I think I’ll do just that. Sure. Meet me in the jazz lounge.

Audra: You just did the exact opposite of what I proposed.

Tucker: That shouldn’t surprise you. Oh and for the record, don’t pretend to have more insight into me than I do.

Audra: Except I do, tucker.

Tucker: How do you figure?

Audra: Well, you know, that other life, alternative universe thing? You say that I know your heart there, but I know it here too. And to be brutally honest with you, I think you’re gonna end up blowing this whole plan of yours right out of the water because you can’t get ashley out of your head.

Chloe: Okay everyone, we can do better than this. It’s thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for. We are at our favorite restaurant. We have it all to ourselves. Michael and gloria are home safe and sound from halfway across the world. We are healthy.

Gloria: If you don’t count jet-lagged, malnourished or sleep deprived.

Chloe: Let’s make the most of it, shall we? Michael, kevin, how about you pour us some wine? And lauren, why don’t you help me in the kitchen?

Kevin: Great idea. Mikey?

Michael: Yes.

Gloria: Chloe, you just did that a few minutes ago.

Chloe: Yeah. It’s a very elaborate dinner. It just needs extra attention. I promise you are going to love every bit of it.

Lauren: Oh, well, then there’s no place I’d rather be.

Kevin: It is so good to see you, mikey. I really missed you.

Michael: I really missed you too. It feels like it’s been forever.

Kevin: So, how was your trip?

[ Gloria sighing ]

Michael: You can’t even imagine.

Kevin: You two were gone so long, chloe and I were starting to think you and mom were relocating to singapore.

Gloria: Oh, dear god. Perish the thought. All the while I was away, all I could think about was getting home to my family. It’s the only thing that kept me alive, angel.

Michael: All of which could have been easily avoided if you had managed to stay out of trouble for once in your life.

Gloria: Oh, sure, like it’s all my fault.

Lauren: Well, I think we’d all love to know what happened in singapore and why it took michael so damn long to exonerate you.

[ Gloria sighing ]

Devon: So, mamie. Listen, I think that it’s fantastic that you’re trying to bring the family together like this. I think it’s a great goal to have, but I’m sure that you understand that it hurts a lot more when you get betrayed by your own family than anybody else. Which is why this has been so difficult for us to get past.

Mamie: And I understand that, devon. It looks to me like all of you are inching your way back towards each other, towards family. And for now, that’s good enough for me. It’s a start. To progress. Hm? Look, I’m a realist enough to realize that not every family is so united.

Abby: And if you don’t believe her, you could head over to society and hang out with the baldwins and the fishers.

Mamie: Yeah. You know, I spent many years in the abbott house. I know how close they are. Now, that’s the strength of their bond. Their family business has thrived because of the– oh, you know what? I said I wasn’t gonna talk about business today. All I care about today is my belief in the core of my soul that our family is headed for something truly magnificent.

Lily: Well, then maybe you can tell us how tucker plays into all of that. Because I think we deserve to know.

Mamie: Well, all righty then. Since you’re all sitting here staring at me. No. This has nothing to do with tucker grabbing chancellor-winters for himself. This is all about you, devon.

Devon: All about me? What does that mean?

Mamie: Your future. His legacy for his grandson.

Devon: And that’s all this is about? That’s it?

Mamie: Tucker just never believed that jill had any rights to own katherine’s company. He believes that you are the true chancellor heir.

Devon: Okay. So then what? His plan is to push jill out of the company? Okay. Uh, I think we should probably warn jill.

Lily: Well, I mean, jill is already expecting this. Mamie hasn’t told us anything we don’t already know.

Devon: Yeah, that’s very true. Mamie, do you think you can share with us any specifics on what tucker’s plan is to overthrow jill?

Chelsea: He’s good.

Jack: Fantastic.

Billy: So jack told me that you rethought your potential future at jabot and that you have decided to come back in the coo position?

Kyle: Yes, I have.

Billy: That’s exciting. What changed your mind?

Kyle: Does it matter?

Billy: No. I guess it– I guess it doesn’t matter as long as you’re being sincere.

Kyle: What? You question my motives, billy? Relax. You have nothing to worry about.

Billy: Believe me, kyle. I’m not worried about it. But I am protective.

Kyle: Of what?

Billy: The company. Family. Jack.

Kyle: What, you think you need to protect my father from me?

Billy: I didn’t say that.

Chelsea: Hey, billy. Um, I have to go meet my mom and connor.

Billy: Yes, of course. Excuse us.

Ashley: What a surprise. Look at how cozy you two are. Happy thanksgiving.

Tucker: You’re surprised to see us here? I don’t see why. We’re– we’re trendsetters. We always have been. We decided that turkey and mashed potatoes and family gatherings are passé and if you’re hip, what you’re doing is drinking whiskey and eating cheeseburgers at a hotel bar on thanksgiving. Right? Probably a little too avant-garde for you though, ashley.

Audra: Well, uh, you have clearly a lot to talk about, so if you’ll excuse me. Tucker, thank you so much for dinner. Ashley, uh, happy thanksgiving to you as well.

Ashley: Thank you so much.

Tucker: Speaking of surprises, I didn’t expect to hear from you today of all days.

Ashley: Yeah. Today of all days.

Tucker: I would expect you to be gathered around the sacred abbott dinner table, laughing and enjoying mrs. Martinez’s sweet potatoes and arguing over who gets the wishbone and…

Ashley: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I’m gonna be home in plenty of time for all the festivities.

Tucker: So, what are you doing here?

Ashley: Well, you know, I started thinking about you and how are you gonna be all alone on thanksgiving. Yeah. Um, made me kind of sad for you and also, you know, devon, so I thought today would be a great day to start trying to bridge the gap. I’ve never been healthier.

Shingles doesn’t care.

But shingrix protects.

Proven over 90% effective,

Tucker: Ashley, don’t waste a minute of your time pretending to feel bad for me. I’ve been through calamities worse than the one you and I went through. And here I am. Please, can we leave devon out of it? I still don’t trust your motives when it comes to helping us reconcile.

Ashley: Okay. I know that you’re in a lot of pain, even though you act like such a tough guy. And I know the pain keeps piling on.

Tucker: Devon?

Ashley: Among other things.

Tucker: Hm.

Ashley: I texted devon and I asked him to join us here. You know, to try to make peace.

Tucker: Did you? Wow. How presumptuous. But you don’t actually expect him to show up any more than I do. So, what is the real reason you’re here? What do you want?

Ashley: That’s the real reason. Although, you know what? I have a proposition for you.

Tucker: Ah.

Gloria: For your information, lauren, I have been yearning to reunite with my family for months now. I am not going to contaminate this occasion by recounting the most unspeakable nightmare I’ve been through.

Michael: That’s a bit overstated, but I agree. There’s no point in dredging it up.

Gloria: Thank you.

Kevin: Um, I’m sorry, mikey, but I disagree. Our mother did something that landed her in a singapore jail and now she’s trying to shrug it off with a wave and a simple, “I hate when that happens.”

Gloria: Honey, it was just a simple case of mistaken identity.

[ Michael laughing ]

Michael: Well, that was the defense. But come on, gloria. Now that it’s all out in the open, let’s stop pretending, shall we? There was no case of mistaken identity. Per usual, you were as guilty as hell of the crime you were charged with.

Chloe: Guilty as hell of what?

Kevin: You know, we’re not gonna let up until you tell us, so you may as well get it over with.

[ Gloria sighing ]

Gloria: I think all of you are very cruel, asking me to relive the most horrible experience of my life. You don’t seem to comprehend the pain that this unfortunate incident caused me. Don’t you realize it is a miracle that I am alive?

Michael: Oh, good god, woman. You are really gonna milk this for all it’s worth. As if you kidnapped the prime minister’s children or committed a capital crime.

Gloria: My persecution was almost that bad.

Michael: Oh, enough! That’s enough! Let’s get our dinner, sit down, give thanks and then we will clear up this mystery once and for all. And if you don’t tell them, I will.

Chloe: Mangia.

Lauren: Let’s go.

Kevin: Having fun?

Chloe: Oh, merci.

[ Gloria sighing ]

[Deep exhale]

Lauren: So even though this was a shotgun thanksgiving, it brought us together, especially michael. No offense, gloria, but my husband has been gone way too long and I couldn’t be happier that he’s home where he belongs. We have quite the most interesting family, but we have each other. And that’s what I’m grateful for. Okay, your turn.

Kevin: Well, uh, michael, lauren, and chloe pretty much covered it all, but uh, I will just add that I am so– so grateful for our happy and healthy children. I’m thankful for my own health so I can enjoy and appreciate every single moment with them. And oddly, I’m thankful for this moment. Right now with my beautiful, happy and healthy family. Okay, gloria, you’re up.

[ Gloria chuckling ]

Gloria: Well, of course, I’m happy and grateful for my beautiful family too. Of course. But I am most especially grateful for michael. My brilliant son who saved me from a fate of unspeakable suffering.

[ Michael chuckling ]

Michael: For god’s sakes. You have drained this table of all the sympathy that you were ever going to get out of it. Or you’ve tried to. Just tell them.

Gloria: Oh, all right. Fine. If it will help you get on with your life. I had an affair with a diplomat. And then one beautiful, sunny fateful day, his wife showed up unexpectedly and caught us together.

Chloe: Uh-oh.

Lauren: That’s not good.

Kevin: How dare she?

Gloria: And she was one of those drama queens.

Kevin: Oh, one of those.

Gloria: Oh, yes. And then she had this completely over-the-top meltdown. Hurling insults at me. Unwarranted, all of them, of course. And then, she threw me out like a common trollop.

Michael: But wait, ladies and gentlemen, there’s more. Mother?

Gloria: All right. I went into the closet to retrieve my clothes. And yes, I happened to take one, two, three pairs of her designer shoes and this divine silk cocktail dress on my way out.

Kevin: You did what?

Lauren: You took the woman’s clothes?

Chloe: Despicable.

Gloria: Well, after everything I’d been through, I thought I deserved them. And the worst part, the husband’s the one who pressed charges. I mean, imagine the gall.

Lauren: And you got her off on a mistaken identity defense? What?

Michael: Yes. I am that good.

Chloe: Well…

Michael: Hear, hear.

[ Michael laughing ]

Ashley: You know that company that we acquired as a foundation for simply ashley?

Tucker: Oh, uh, glacade?

Ashley: Glacade.

Tucker: Yeah. What about it?

Ashley: Well, you know, it’s solid as a rock. Has a lot of potential. Why don’t you take it? Like just pick up right where we left off. And then you can just go forward in a positive, productive, fantastic direction.

Tucker: While you do what?

Ashley: Absolutely nothing. Yeah. You know, consider it a, uh, a gesture of goodwill because I reneged on our business partnership. And then maybe, uh, for the sake of our children and our grandchild, we can have some kind of peace and tranquility. And then, you know, it’ll make it easier for everybody. What do you think?

Tucker: Yeah. That’s okay. Deal.

Ashley: Yeah. Great. Sure.

Mamie: Tucker and I came into this with two common goals. Mine was to get back with my family and tucker’s was to get rid of jill so that he could clear a path for devon and lily. I’m for both of those goals, aren’t you? Ask yourself this. Would it really be so bad if jill didn’t have equal control of chancellor-winters anymore? Have you ever thought about what it would be like to not have to run every decision past her? To be able to own your company without outside interference? Have you ever secretly wondered what that might feel like? Hm?

[ Jack sighing ]

Traci: Jack, it’s long past time to eat and we’re all starving.

Jack: Yeah. I’m starving too. I was just trying to figure out whether to wait for ashley.

Traci: Okay. Um, let’s– let’s think that through together, shall we? We all know where ashley went and we all know who she’s with. So, do you want to let our thanksgiving hinge on what may or may not happen between ashley and tucker?

Jack: You ever get tired of being the voice of reason around here?

Traci: It’s a dirty job, but you know.

Jack: Can I have everyone’s attention, please? Um, dinner will be served momentarily. I just wanted to say a couple of words. I have so much to be grateful for in my own personal life. I married the woman of my dreams this year and it has brought a richness, a level of meaning and joy that has changed who I am as a man. As far as the family goes, I probably don’t have to say this has been a challenging year for the abbotts, on several fronts. More than once, I think it looked like we were going to, well shatter, splinter. But in the end, we got through it. Why? Because as strong as we all are as individuals, we all know from life that we are decidedly stronger together. Strong enough to handle anything that life throws us. We have so much to be grateful for and so much to look forward to. Yes, there will be challenges. Yes, there will be setbacks, but we will grow and learn and thrive as long as we face those challenges together. Happy thanksgiving.

All: Happy thanksgiving.

Traci: Hear, hear.

Announcer: Next time on the young and the restless…

Nikki: You did this to me.

Jordan: No, nikki newman. You did this to yourself.

Victor: I’m through playing games with you.

Jordan: This is no game. This is as serious as a heart attack. Which is what you will all be experiencing very soon thanks to the poison that you just drank in your water bottles. You don’t have long to live. And it’s going to be my utmost pleasure to stand here and watch you die.

Adam: I know that you will never believe that I could put genuine concern for our father above everything else.

Nick: Never really given me any reason to believe that.

Adam: Really? I’ve never done anything for this family? For your family? Like, donate a kidney to your daughter.

Nick: Yes, Adam. I remember that.

Adam: Yeah, and as far as Victor is concerned, I took a bullet for him. But the world seems to forget about that, too.

Nick: It was a long time ago.

Adam: I’ll tell that to my scar. Okay, you can think what you want, Nick, but I’m concerned about our father. He’s a judgmental, withholding, egomaniac and the thought of him slipping away like this? No, I’m not gonna let that happen without a fight.

****************************

Sharon: You girls have been so brave through this whole process. You have been warriors for your daughter. I can understand you feeling nervous and afraid, but don’t forget to let yourself feel the hope and optimism too. I mean, it’s perfectly natural that you would be going through a range of emotions, but let’s just tackle the specifics. What are you really worried about?

Tessa: I mean, uh, what if Aria doesn’t like the hearing aids? It’s not like we can explain it to her.

Sharon: Well, she might not like them. That’s true. But she’ll get used to them, just like with a sippy cup. Remember? It was only bottles for a while and now she does both.

Mariah: Yeah, that’s true. It’s just, she might grow up feeling different, and that’s so hard.

Sharon: It is. But you’re gonna do everything you can to make her feel less different. And you know what I found online?

Tessa: What?

Sharon: Baby dolls with hearing aids.

[ All laughing ]

Tessa: Oh, God. That’s brilliant. Of course.

Mariah: Yeah.

Sharon: See? There are lots of kids and parents in the same situation as you all.

Mariah: Yeah. No. I know. Of course, we know that.

Sharon: Find that community for Aria and for yourself. There are so many, many amazing success stories to be inspired by. You’ll find the encouragement and the support you need there. You can take this journey with others who are in the same situation that you are in. And you know what? You’re gonna do whatever you have to do to make Aria feel more comfortable, whatever the situation.”.

Billy: We’re gonna talk directly, Kyle. Because jack has been playing the go-between for a while now and I don’t think it’s fair.

Kyle: Well, you seem agitated. What exactly are you accusing me of?

Billy: Coming after my job? You made it clear to Jack that you won’t return to jabot unless it’s in the co-CEO position.

Kyle: Yeah, that– that’s right. I have. I’m guessing you don’t think I deserve it.

Billy: Whether you deserve it or not is irrelevant.

Kyle: Why is that?

Billy: Because it’s my job. I am the co-CEO of Jabot. Jack trusts me and I am loyal to him and to the company that my father built. And I’m doing a damn good job and I’m not going anywhere.

************************

Tucker: Yeah, I figured it was the best thing. We were married all of five minutes.

Ashley: True. Boy, did we have some fun in those five minutes? Didn’t we not have fun in those five minutes? Anyway, I know I’ve said it before, but I am sorry for my part in how this all didn’t work out for us and, uh, it just seems like such a waste that we have to act like strangers now, Tucker.

Tucker: Do you want to be friends now?

Ashley: Oh, I don’t know. We, you know– can’t we be two people that have been through a lot of stuff together and then maybe there can be some kind of commonality? I don’t know.

Tucker: I don’t see that happening.

Ashley: Okay. Well, then maybe we can be two people that can be in the same room with each other without causing each other pain. I mean, we do share a grandchild, remember?

Tucker: I don’t trust you anymore. I don’t trust your motives anymore.

Jack: That would be the third time that you’ve moved those.

Diane: This is my first thanksgiving as your wife in your family home.

Jack: In our family home.

Diane: Well, I just want it to be perfect.

Jack: No one is keeping score. It’s thanksgiving day, the one day of the year we set judgments aside, we put battles on hold, and we come together in gratitude and unity. What could be better than that?

Diane: Have you met your sister?

Jack: Oh.

Diane: Last year at this time, she was on a mission to run me out of town.

Jack: But on the day of thanks, when the whole family was here, she showed restraint.

Diane: Well, a little. And only with a lot of arm twisting on your part. I mean, I was scared during the meal that she would stab me with a fork.

Jack: But she didn’t, and that’s the magic of the holiday.

Diane: [Laughs]

Jack: Hey, think about it. Think about how much things have changed between the two of you since twelve months ago.

Ashley: Things have changed for whom? You mean diana and me?

Jack: I was just reflecting on how your relationship has progressed.

Ashley: Yeah, I suppose that’s true. I mean, who would have guessed that I would owe you a debt of gratitude, diane, for saving my life. Although I still think there’s a part of you that would have preferred me to choke to death on a grape.

Diane: [Chuckles]

Ashley: Huh?

Diane: Course not. Of course not. And besides, jack’s right. We’re on the same team now.

Ashley: Another one of those things that nobody would believe, even me.

Jack: We’re all working toward the same goal– protecting jabot from a possible attack from your about-to-be-ex-husband.

Ashley: I know. I know. Two other things I couldn’t possibly imagine happening– that I’d actually marry tucker and then leave him on our honeymoon

Jack: Because of your incredible loyalty to this family that brought on your realization that tucker is the ass we all thought he was.

Ashley: Okay! All right. Thank you so much for that.

Jack: Look, can we just not talk about tucker or what he has planned for one day? Just focus on the things for which we are grateful.

Ashley: Right. Um… I’d actually like to invite tucker for thanksgiving dinner.

Audra: Yeah, I was surprised you reached out. After the way we left things, I wasn’t sure I’d ever hear from you again.

Kyle: Yeah, I think my emotions got the better of me last time we spoke. We both did.

Audra: Yeah, you’re right. I was a little hesitant to meet with you today. I wasn’t sure what I’d be walking into.

Kyle: I think we had too much of a connection to leave things the way we did.

Audra: Huh. So, now is when you tell me, in a less emotional way, why you backed out of a plan you agreed to only a few days ago.

Kyle: No.

Audra: Because I don’t need to be let down gently, kyle. I prefer the direct approach. So tell me– what’s on your mind?

Kyle: I want back in.

Victoria: Mom, hi. I hope you’re having a good visit with aunt casey. Give her my love. Look, I don’t want to interrupt your quality sister time, but would you give me a call when you get a chance? I could really use your advice.

Nikki: Water. Thank god. How much vodka did she pop into me? Haven’t felt like this in a long, long time. I never wanted to ever again. Claire! Why are you doing this to me?

Nikki: No. No, I can’T. Why is she doing this to me? Claire, or whoever she is, she wants me to suffer. She knows my weakness. No, not weakness. Disease. It’s a disease. Okay. You know how to do this. One day at a time. One minute… at a time.

Claire: Oh, mrs. Newman, I’m so sorry.

Victoria: No. That’s okay, claire. I thought you were headed out west with my mother. Something about going to see your aunt?

Claire: I came back to get some work, but, uh…

Victoria: What is it? What’s wrong?

Claire: It’s your mother.

[Knock at door]

Victor: Yes, come in.

Victoria: Something’s happened with mom.

Victor: What do you mean?

Victoria: Clair flew back to grab some work from the office, but then she got a call from her aunt in oregon.

Victor: What is it?

Claire: Nikki had some kind of seizure this morning.

Victor: What?

Claire: I don’t know much, but apparently she collapsed, and jordan called an ambulance. She’s been taken to the hospital.

Victor: Oh, my god. Get the jet ready. We’re taking off very soon, okay? Just get it ready. What is the nearest airport?

Claire: Redmond.

Victor: Redmond, oregon.

Victoria: I’m coming with you. We can grab nick on the way to the airport.

Audra: Kyle, you were adamant about wanting in on the plan, and then in a complete reversal, you were just as adamant about not betraying your family. You’re making me dizzy.

Kyle: I was working through it.

Audra: You accused me of using you.

Kyle: You called me a coward.

Audra: Okay, well, why would you even consider working with me?

Kyle: To get what I want,

Audra: Which is?

Kyle: Jabot. I want to be co-ceo.

Audra: [Scoffs] Help me understand, because you made it very clear you didn’t want it this way.

Kyle: [Sighs] If I told you I was willing to betray my family and stab my father in the back… would you believe it?

Audra: Why should I believe you’re not gonna change your mind again? You know, tucker thinks you can’t commit and follow through.

Kyle: Well, tucker’s wrong, and I have the evidence to prove it.

Tucker: Evidence to prove what?

Tucker: Okay, so what is this evidence to prove you are sincere in wanting to join us?

Ashley [Recorded]: I know that tucker needs and wants devon’s love and approval more than anything. And devon needs and wants a relationship with his father. I don’t see anything wrong with nudging that in the right direction. And just listen. Full disclosure– if all this “kumbaya” means that tucker decides to back off of jabot, wouldn’t that be wonderful? Wouldn’t it? It could actually happen. Because nobody can tap into tucker’s humanity like devon.

Tucker: This isn’t news. I assumed ashley was trying to manipulate me.

Kyle: But you were hoping it wasn’t true.

Tucker: I don’t know how my hopes or desires are relevant here.

Kyle: The point is, ashley is using your hopes and desires to her advantage.

Tucker: No, it sounds to me like she still thinks she can turn me into a better man. But even if you’re right, what does that prove?

Kyle: That I would throw my aunt under the bus to show whose side I’m on.

Audra: It was a dirty move. Sneaky, even. I’m impressed.

Tucker: I see. Dirty and sneaky kyle abbott.

[Chuckles, snorts] I didn’t think you had it in you.

Jack: Inviting tucker to our family thanksgiving dinner.

Diane: You’re not serious.

Ashley: All right, let me rephrase that. Not for dinner. Just here for a drink along with devon.

Jack: So you’re helping him get in touch with his humanity?

Ashley: Yes, exactly.

Jack: He never had any to begin with.

Diane: Yeah, talk about spoiling the mood.

Ashley: I thought you were my ally. What happened to being on board?

Diane: Well, it happens to be thanksgiving. It runs the risk–

Jack: Of destroying the day. Why would he even agree to this?

Ashley: Because of devon. I mean, obviously, tucker’s probably going to be alone on the most family holiday of all the holidays. He’s going to be miserable. Maybe he’ll be more vulnerable.

Jack: Good. Tucker will be sad. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. No, I’m putting my foot down. This is not going to happen. You can get together with tucker and devon and work your magic. Obviously, I can’t talk you out of it, but not here, not today.

Ashley: Jack.

Diane: I have to agree.

Ashley: You mean the two of you can’t put aside your dislike for this person the way I have? Honestly, for a greater good?

Jack: You’re asking us to ruin a family celebration by having that man in this house and pretending to be civil. It’s not going to happen.

Nick: Have you heard anything from mom?

Victor: She’s just not answering my calls.

Claire: I’ve been trying to reach my aunt jordan for an update, but she’s not picking up either.

Victoria: Maybe that means she’s bringing mom back from the hospital.

Victor: Wait a minute.

Nikki: Is that the jet? Is it ready?

Victor: Just a second. What do you mean, not ready yet?

Victoria: What?

Victor: Why in half an hour? Get it ready. We’ve got to get out of here.

Victoria: That’s too long. I feel like we need to be there now. Mom needs us.

Victor: Sweetheart…

Victoria: I can’t stand this.

Victor: It’s gonna be all right, okay? Everything will be all right.

Nikki: What kind of person does this? Get rid of it. Pour it out. You know where this will end if you don’T. Oh.

[Gasps, sniffles]

[Teary] Oh, god…

[Sobs] What have I done?

[Crying] God help me!

[Crying continues]

Victoria: Now claire, your aunt said nikki had a seizure?

Claire: Yes.

Victor: What else did she say?

Claire: Not much. She was focused on getting nikki help.

Victoria: She must have said more or given you some idea of what she’s dealing with. What did she actually see?

Claire: She said nikki started twitching. She got dizzy, and then her arms started jerking like they were out of her control. And then she collapsed.

Victoria: She collapsed? It sounds like it could have been related to the ms, especially if she was tired from the trip.

Victor: Okay, listen, we need to relay that information to the medical team. What’s the name of the hospital?

Claire: I don’t know. There aren’t any near the lake house.

Nikki: Didn’t you say your aunt suffered some kind of fall?

Victor: Where was she treated?

Claire: There’s a retired doctor who lives on the lake. He looks after aunt jordan because she hates hospitals. I should have found out where they were going. I heard “hospital,” and I didn’t get more information. I’m so sorry. I was just so upset that I wasn’t thinking.

Victor: I understand, but it’s imperative that you get ahold of your aunt, okay? We need to tell your aunt about nikki’s medical condition of multiple sclerosis. Do you understand? It could potentially be very, very dangerous. So call her again right now.

Tucker: Well, this was a promising start.

Audra: I’m assuming you’ve given some thought as to how you might help us achieve our goal.

Kyle: I played the role of the prodigal son. Told my father I accepted his position to be coo of jabot.

Tucker: Smart move.

Kyle: I want to show I’m a team player willing to put the family above my own personal ambition.

Audra: You sure he believed it?

Kyle: Oh, I know he did, because he wanted to. It’s a weakness too easily exploited.

Tucker: Is this the student trying to school the master now?

Kyle: Oh, no, this is a partner-to-partner observation.

Tucker: We’re not partners yet.

Audra: All right, well, we all need to be convincing and effective for this to work.

Tucker: I agree. So as coo, you’ll be on the inside of jabot where you can gather information.

Kyle: Exactly what kind of info are you looking for?

Tucker: Anything I can use to damage the company, destroy it from the inside.

Kyle: Is that supposed to be a joke?

Tucker: No, that’s what you’re signing on for.

Kyle: See, I want to run the company. There’s not a lot of incentive for me if there’s no company left to run, tucker.

Audra: I think “destroy” is too strong a word.

Tucker: Sorry. Would “cripple” be better?

Audra: Yeah, better. Look, right now the company is too financially stable. It could weather any kind of storm we could create. You do see that, right?

Kyle: Oh, I see, but I’m not saying I agree with it.

Tucker: Kyle, in order to put you in charge, I need control of the company. To get control of the company, I need leverage. Without some kind of, uh, some kind of damage or crisis at jabot, I don’t have that.

Kyle: Oh, I understand.

Tucker: Is this going to be a problem for you?

Jack: Just one tucker-free day, is that too much to ask?

Ashley: Jack, I think you can survive it for the sake of our family and the family’s company, okay?

Diane: I doubt tucker would even want to come,

Jack: Or devon, for that matter. I’m sure he has plenty of plans for the family he does love.

Ashley: Just one drink. Why are you fighting me on this?

Jack: Because thanksgiving should mean something. Thanksgiving is about family, ashley. I am grateful that you are here. For a time here, it looked like that wasn’t going to happen, things were so bad between us. I would like to be grateful all day that you are here.

Ashley: Okay, okay. But there are some things that are more important, jack, than just sitting together at a table, eating tons of turkey and then wanting to take a nap.

Jack: You’re missing my point. Today is about family. We need to value that. Can’t we just come together, enjoy each other’s company? This is about a family tradition we’re trying to keep going. There are far too few of those.

Ashley: I know. I know. Listen, I’m really grateful to you for always trying to keep these family traditions going. Honestly, thank you.

Jack: What do you think dad would do?

Ashley: I think he’d agree with me. I really do. And if you don’t agree with me to let tucker and devon come here for one quick drink, I’ll go to the club. I’ll meet them there.

Jack: You would really do that?

Ashley: Accept my other option, jack.

Diane: Ashley, ashley, I’d really like to have you here.

Ashley: And I want to be here, and I will be for part of it, I promise. But this is something that I have to do. It just is.

Jack: I’m not going to stand here and argue with you. That’s the last thing I want to do, especially today.

Ashley: Good.

Jack: So you’re gonna go through with this? You’re gonna spend part of thanksgiving with the most despicable man in genoa city.

Ashley: And his son, hopefully.

Jack: Why are you so damn stubborn?

Jack: Why are you such a control freak? It’s for the good of the family.

Jack: I know that. Doesn’t mean I have to like it. I still worry about you.

Ashley: I’ll be fine.

Jack: You will be missed.

Ashley: Just think of the opportunity to talk about me behind my back. That’s the real family tradition.

Jack: Be careful. Look, I got to check on things in the kitchen, okay?

Ashley: Come here. Happy thanksgiving.

Jack: Happy thanksgiving.

[Both sigh]

Ashley: Honestly. Thank you for what you said. That was very sweet.

Diane: Oh, well, I meant it. I wanted this to be our first family thanksgiving together without so much animosity.

[Both chuckle]

Ashley: Right. Yeah. I’ll be back, you know? I’m not gonna be gone that long. You understand why I’m doing this, right? You see the logic?

Diane: Oh, I–I do. It’s just there could be a problem with your plan.

Kyle: That’s a sound strategy if properly executed.

Tucker: And are you willing to be a part of it?

Audra: Dismantling your family’s company?

Kyle: Well, I have to be, in order for it to work.

Tucker: Why is that?

Kyle: Don’t make the mistake of playing me, and everyone will get what they want. Do we understand each other?

Tucker: I think so. Welcome aboard, again.

Kyle: Well, you don’t have to question my commitment to all this.

Tucker: Mm-hmm. You should run along back to thanksgiving right now. Keep playing the prodigal son, grateful to be back in their good graces and all that.

Kyle: I can handle it.

Tucker: Okay. I’ll be in touch.

Audra: I’ll walk out with you. I’m glad you’re back.

Kyle: Yeah. Tucker must be pleased with your efforts.

Audra: You don’t seem very happy for a man who’s about to get everything he wants.

Kyle: Audra, don’t try to manage me.

Audra: I’m not asking you to trust me, kyle. You know, in fact, I find it rather appealing you don’T. We’re talking about self-interest here. There’s nothing in it for me if tucker burns it down. Like you, I need this to succeed.

Kyle: Hmm, but it’s tucker I’ll be handing the means to cripple the company.

Audra: And when we gain control, we will build it back even better and stronger. This is what tucker does best.

Kyle: Hmm. That’s why I’m putting up with him. Well, with both of you. It’s clear who I’m dealing with.

Jordan: Claire?

Claire: Yes, it’s me, aunt jordan. I’m so glad you picked up.

Jordan: I just got back from the hospital. Understand?

Claire: Yes, I’m here with mr. Newman and two of his children. They’re very worried.

Jordan: As they should be.

Claire: He’s very eager to talk to you.

Victor: Hi, this is victor newman. If you’re on medicare, remember, the annual enrollment period is here. The time to choose your coverage begins october 15th and ends december 7th. So call unitedhealthcare and see how you can get more of what matters, with our broad range of plans including an aarp medicare advantage plan from unitedhealthcare. It can combine your hospital and doctor coverage

Jordan: Mr. Victor newman. I can’t believe it.

Victor: Well, thank you for helping my wife.

Jordan: What was that? Hello? Oh, this cell service is just so awful. Can you hear me?

Victor: I said thank you for helping my wife.

Jordan: That’s not something you need to thank anyone for. But she did give me a scare.

Victor: Please tell me how she is.

Jordan: The doctors are tending to her.

Victor: Ok, listen carefully. You must tell them that my wife has ms, multiple sclerosis. Very important you tell them.

Jordan: [Chuckles] Well, you’ll be happy to know that the doctors were smart enough to figure out that’s what was ailing her, mr. Newman.

Victor: Well, I’m very relieved to hear that.

Jordan: It is a great relief, isn’t it?

Victoria: So the seizure was brought on by the ms.

Victor: So she is responding well to the medication?

Jordan: They gave her some epilepsy medication, and, um, what was the name of it? Oh, I can’t remember. But, um… anyhow, it seems to be working, and she was over the episode rather quickly.

Victor: Well, that’s good news.

Jordan: They’re going to keep her overnight. They want to make sure that there are no chances taken. And since I do live in such a remote area.

Victor: We’ll be leaving here shortly. We are flying into redmond. We should be there in a few hours.

Jordan: Oh, goodness, it is handy having those private jets, isn’t it?

Victor: Now what is the name of the hospital?

Jordan: Hello?

Victor: Hello?

Jordan: Hello? Oh, no, not again.

Victor: Can you give me the name of the hospital?

Jordan: Oh, this service is breaking up again. Mr. Newman? Hello?

Victor: Hello? Are you there?

Victor: [Sighs] The call dropped.

Claire: The service can be terrible out there.

Nick: Well, mom’s okay, that’s the only thing that matters.

Victoria: What else did she say?

Victor: Well, they gave her some epilepsy medication, and apparently the seizure stopped.

Victoria: [Sighs] Thank god.

Nikki: Thanks to your aunt.

Victor: We owe her a tremendous debt of gratitude.

Claire: I’m sure she doesn’t see it that way.

Victor: Well, I’m looking forward to thanking her in person, okay?

Diane: Ashley, I–I do, I understand the logic of what you want to do, how it makes sense to take advantage of the emotions that the holiday brings up.

Ashley: Right, right, because tucker talks a good game, but he– well, like I told you, he wants devon’s love and approval.

Diane: Family connection.

Ashley: Yeah, and that’s why I thought today was a good day to try to get the whole process started, of getting, you know, tucker and devon back on track.

Diane: Well, I–I get that. I’m just asking that you don’t sacrifice the whole day for tucker. Look, it means a lot to jack to have you here for thanksgiving dinner. And believe it or not, it means a lot to me, too. Look, there’s no angle, no secret agenda, I just… I just love your brother. I love his devotion to family, and… I love that harrison is growing up, you know, feeling a part of it and having these traditions.

[Sighs] I mean, last year at this time, jack had recently learned that he had another grandchild.

Ashley: Yeah. Yeah, it’s a shame allie can’t be here. She’s off in paris pursuing her dreams.

Diane: Well, life does that. It pulls us in different directions, and I think that’s why this holiday is just so important.

Ashley: Seems like you really mean what you’re saying.

Diane: I do mean what I’m saying. And that’s why I hope you’ll be back in time for dinner, because… I just think the table would feel a little empty without you.

[Door opens, closes]

Ashley: Thank you.

Kyle: Wow. Smells delicious in here. How are the preparations coming?

Ashley: Your mother has, um, decorated the room in such a way that martha stewart would be jealous. Anyway, um, I gotta get ready.

Kyle: Okay. See you later. Wow, mom.

Diane: Yeah.

Kyle: [Chuckles] Uh… where’s dad?

Diane: He’s in the kitchen checking on things, but don’t worry. I’m sure mrs. Martinez is about to kick him out.

Kyle:, Oh, well, I met with audra.

Diane: Yeah?

Kyle: Yeah. Tucker showed up. Couldn’t have worked out better.

Diane: Really? What happened?

Kyle: I told them I reconsidered their plan to take over jabot.

Diane: Do you think tucker believed you?

Kyle: Oh, I’m in. I think you’re right about how I have to handle this.

Tucker: Hey, devon, period. Can we fix this, question mark. Can we try, question mark. I would love to spend thanksgiving with you, period.

[Door thuds, footsteps approach]

Audra: [Sighs] Well, looks like it’s just you and me.

Tucker: Hmm. Just the way I like it. I must say, I never understood the appeal of thanksgiving. Turkey sucks. It’s always dry. And nobody does the mashed potatoes right. They’re dry, too. It’s like hospital food, right? You want to go upstairs?

Audra: Tucker, no.

Tucker: Not that. Up to the dining room. Buy you a burger and a bourbon.

Audra: Oh. Yeah, sure.

Tucker: Geez. Your mind’s in the gutter these days.

Audra: Yeah, well, I’ve been spending way too much time with you.

Tucker: Mm-hmm. Hey, wait a second.

Kyle: I’m going to do this on my own. I can handle it. I’m going to undercut tucker, eliminate the threat, and then I’m going to make this my gift to dad.

Diane: Good for you.

Jack: Mother and son, a welcome sight on this family holiday. Ashley leave?

Diane: No, she went upstairs. I did my best to try to convince her to make it back for dinner, but I don’t know. Who knows?

Jack: Well, I appreciate the effort. I really do believe in the tradition of thanksgiving.

Kyle: You don’t have to convince us. We know how important this day is to you. And I love how harrison knows this is your favorite holiday.

Jack: I just wanted us all to be together. I cannot believe tucker is still invading our lives.

Kyle: Yeah, let’s forget all about tucker mccall. He has nothing to do with this family. Today should be about us, the abbotts.

Claire: Still no service.

Victoria: Oh, my god. Is it always like this?

Claire: It’s worse this time of year when the weather’s bad.

Victoria: I didn’t know that mom was gonna be in such a remote location.

Claire: Most people move to this part of the state because they want to be off the grid.

Nikki: You must worry about your aunt living out there all alone.

Claire: She’s one of the most capable people I know. But sometimes, yes, I do.

Victor: Hello? Hello? Let’s go.

[Sharp pop]

Nikki: Who’s there? Claire? Who’s there?

[Knock on door]

Man: Hello? Nikki? Victoria?

[Insistent knocking]

Cole: Nikki? It’s cole. I got your text about victoria. Is she all right?

Christine: My marriage is none of your business.

Phyllis: Um… it’s just been a while since you’ve been single, you know, and I thought maybe you could use some dating tips or something.

Christine: Oh, right. Yeah. Wait, are you serious? From you? Your latest romantic partner was a known felon who ended up dead. No, I don’t think I’m gonna be coming to you for advice.

***************Christine: We’re not friends, so we are definitely not gonna talk about my personal life.

Phyllis: Well, I feel like I am being a friend to you and to Danny’s when I tell you, you just shouldn’t chase after him again.

Christine: Chase after him? Okay, first of all, that’s your thing, not mine. And second, unlike you and me, Danny and I are actual friends. And Daniel is my godson and we’ve always been close. I’ve heard that you’ve been hanging out with Danny. And maybe you should take your own advice and not fool yourself into thinking that something will come of that. Right now, your number one priority should be getting your miserable life back on track.

Mariah: Thank you. I needed to hear that. Well, what about you? How is the job search going?

Kyle: Oh. Uh, refresh my memory. Um, what exactly is a job?

Mariah: Oh, please tell me you’re at least looking.

Kyle: Why? I’m rather enjoying the easy life.

Mariah: Yeah, because you always struck me as a man of leisure.

Kyle: Well, I’m learning how to make sourdough from mrs. Martinez.

Mariah: Of course, you are.

[ Kyle laughing ]

Kyle: No, no. Um, but I am having fun.

Billy: Look at you. You’re here.

Chelsea: I’m back, baby.

Billy: Thank god.

Chelsea: That was the welcome home I was waiting for.

Billy: It’s damn good to see you.

Chelsea: Did you miss me?

Billy: Every day. And why didn’t you tell me you were coming home?

Chelsea: I wanted to surprise you. Be a little mysterious. Did it work?

Billy: Am I smiling?

Chelsea: Your face. It’s not the same as video chats.

Billy: No, it’s not the same like this.

Chelsea: Well, full disclosure, I’m also here for a little bit of work. I have a Marchetti meeting to discuss the spring collection.

[ Jill chuckling ]

Nina: Thank goodness for that. And it seems to have been maybe a much-needed wake-up call.

Jill: What does that mean?

Chance: Mom, mom, please. Not– not anymore. Come on.

Nina: Chance may change course and quit law enforcement.

Jill: Is this true?

Chance: Okay. Why don’t we all sit down, let’s take a breath. Sit down, sit. I’ve not made any kind of decisions yet. At all. I’m just simply… considering the possibility.

Jill: Wow. That would be a huge shift for you.

Nina: Yes. But then jill and I would never have to fear again getting one of those telephone calls saying that something’s happened to you.

Jill: Listen, if you do decide to quit the G.C.P.D, I have an idea.

Chance: All right. Let’s– let’s hear it.

Jill: Well, in my opinion, it is high time that you followed in the footsteps of your grandfather and catherine.

Chance: Meaning what?

Jill: Meaning come to work with me at chancellor-winters. Honey, I will teach you the ropes of the business world.

Nina: Jill, that’s a brilliant idea and a great opportunity.

Chance: That is a very generous offer. Thank you. But that is a big step and I have no experience, so.

Jill: Well, you don’t need experience. You have exposure. You have lived your whole life hearing about the business. And you’re smart and you’re dedicated.

Nina: You’re hard-working. You’re great with people. You have excellent instincts.

Jill: And I can always use allies within the company. Honey, I know talent when I see it. I think you’d be really good at this.

[ Chance sighing ]

[ Kyle sighing ]

Diane: Morning.

Kyle: Morning, mom.

[ Kyle sighing ]

Diane: Morning.

Kyle: Morning, mom. Where’s dad?

Diane: Uh, he’s still upstairs. I wanted to talk to you before he came down.

Kyle: What did you want to discuss?

Diane: Uh, have you given any more thought to what we talked about last night?

Kyle: Audra and I didn’t exactly end on good terms. Okay? And it would be a tough sell to convince her that I want back in on tucker’s plan to take over jabot.

Diane: Well, don’t you think it’s worth a try?

Kyle: I don’t know if she would believe me. And tucker was already pretty suspicious about my intentions in the first place.

Diane: All right. Are you honestly worried about that or is there something more going on?

Kyle: Mom, I’m torn. Keeping this from dad feels wrong. I almost betrayed him and the company. Doesn’t he have a right to know?

Diane: Would you please stop beating yourself up?

Kyle: How can I? I mean, I almost sold him out to tucker for my benefit. If I don’t come clean, what does that say about me?

Diane: It says nothing. You reversed course. Thoughts are not actions. If they were, we’d all be in trouble. Kyle, listen to me. You should tell your father when it’s the right time for you.

Jack: Tell me what?

Kyle: Uh, dad, I um, I’ve just been, you know, wrestling with how to tell you something.

Jack: You can tell me anything. You know that.

Kyle: Yeah. I just want you to know how sorry I am that I’ve been a jerk about your offer to come back to jabot.

Jack: No apology necessary. It’s water under the bridge.

Kyle: Dad, don’t cut me so much slack.

Jack: No. You’ve already taken steps to straighten things out with billy, with me.

Kyle: It’s not enough. I– I want you to know that I am now considering your offer to be C.O.O. Of jabot.

Tucker: Hey.

Devon: Hey.

Tucker: How are you?

Devon: Not great.

Tucker: What’s going on?

Devon: Well… I learned something new about you this morning and it’s just like you can’t help yourself, huh?

Tucker: I don’t know what you mean.

Devon: I’m talking about your latest lie. And I’m sure it’s tough to keep up with all of them. But this is one too many and I have had enough.

Devon: So my only question to you is, are you that arrogant to think that you were gonna get away with everything?

Tucker: What have you been told now? What is it you think you know?

Devon: It’s not what I think I know. It’s what’s been confirmed. We’re talking about your collusion with aunt mamie.

Tucker: Oh, devon. We’ve discussed this, haven’t we? I told you there’s no truth to any of those allegations.

Devon: I know what you said, I was there. And it was a lie. And you told it to me over and over again. It started with you saying that you had no connection to mamie whatsoever. And then after I pressured you, you admitted that you had been in communication with her. But it was to try and make things better with me.

Tucker: It was.

Devon: It wasn’t at all because you’re also using her firm to make investments into chancellor-winters behind my back. Right?

Tucker: Listen, I have no say in how mamie johnson chooses to spend her company’s money.

Devon: Okay. But you did conveniently choose not to mention that she’s using your money.

Tucker: Not all of it. Most of it’s mamie’S.

Devon: It doesn’t matter though. You understand that, right? Because you told me one thing and then I find out the complete opposite. So, what are you after?

Tucker: Nothing.

Devon: If it’s nothing, then why all the deception?

Tucker: The only thing I’ve ever wanted was just to be closer to you.

Devon: You gonna stick with that? Okay. Well, I mean, that’s pretty much out the window because I don’t believe a word that comes out of your mouth.

Tucker: Okay. Hold… first of all, where did you get this information? Was it phyllis? Because you know she hates me and she’s not above spreading lies to try to ruin me.

Devon: Tucker, the only lies are coming out of your mouth. They’re not coming from phyllis or anybody else.

Tucker: I have tried my best to be honest with you.

Devon: That’s your best? ‘Cause I would sure hate to see your worst. And I’m gonna make something really clear to you right now. Keep your hands off of chancellor-winters because that’s neil’s legacy and it’s your mother’s legacy. You’re not any part of it. And I’m gonna make sure it stays that way.

Tucker: Yeah. I– I think you’re blowing this a little out of proportion.

Devon: No, I think I’m being actually really nice about this. So please keep your distance from me and my family. I’m done with you.

Ashley hey, are you okay?

Devon: Yeah, good to see you.

Ashley: What the hell have you done now?

Jack: Wait, you’re serious? You’re considering the C.O.O. Role?

Kyle: It, uh, it took me an embarrassing amount of time to come to my senses. But, um…

Ashley: What the hell have you done now?

Jack: Wait, you’re serious? You’re considering the C.O.O. Role?

Kyle: It, uh, it took me an embarrassing amount of time to come to my senses. But, um… yeah, yeah. Yeah, I am.

Diane: I can’t tell you how happy I am to hear that.

Jack: That is fantastic news.

Kyle: It feels good for me too.

Jack: Well, as thrilled as I am, I gotta say it comes out of the blue. Um, was there any one thing that prompted this change of course?

Kyle: I know I had numerous reasons of why I wasn’t interested before.

>Jack: Oh, you definitely were not interested. You thought I was giving you a token role.

Kyle: I guess I just needed some time to self-reflect. Starting after my confrontation with billy where he accused me of being a spoiled brat and trying to take his job.

Diane: I didn’t realize he said that to you.

Kyle: No, it was harsh, mom, but he was right. I needed him to call me out. It made me realize I need to back off and it set me on an entirely different path altogether.

Jack: Yeah, you implied you had something in the works.

Kyle: I did and– and then it didn’t work out.

Jack: And that’s when you realized you were interested in the C.O.O. Role?

Kyle: It gave me pause. But the final turning point was mom. She gave me some good advice on how to move forward.

Jack: Well, I am not surprised. She is a wise woman. What did she tell you?

Kyle: That I haven’t been putting us on the same level. I’ve been making demands and exerting pressure on you. And she made me realize that I need to prove myself to you as much as you need to prove your faith in me.

Jack: Seems like pretty sound advice.

Kyle: You know, getting what you want. It– it comes in stages, it can’t be rushed. So I have to be patient.

Abby: Hey.

Devon: Hey. Thank you for taking some time away from work.

Abby: Of course, you sounded riled up. What’s going on?

[ Devon sighs ]

Devon: It’s tucker.

Abby: Oh. What now?

Devon: So lily told me this morning that she and jill found proof that he is directly involved in mamie’s investment in chancellor-winters.

Abby: That bastard. So you have solid proof?

Devon: Seems that way. Yeah. Proving what we already suspected.

Abby: What’s he doing?

Devon: He’s using her financial firm to make investments. And one of which was to chancellor-winters. Which means he just flat-out lied to me about any collusion with mamie.

Abby: I am so sorry. I know that we suspected that there was something going on, but to know for sure? I mean, that’s horrible.

Devon: Yeah. And then when I went to confront him about it, he just doubled down and kept lying to me. So he’s done. I’m cutting him off.

Abby: I’m sorry, I hate that for you. You know what? Actually, I don’T.Beuse you de and tucker is just never gonna be that for you.

Devon: Yeah, I know. I’ve given him too many chances and he’s let me down every single time.

Abby: But if it makes you feel any better. I think he wants to be that for you. He’s just not capable of it.

Devon: Well, it doesn’T.

Abby: So, is tucker gonna back down now?

Devon: I don’t think he will. At all. I told him to keep his hands off of chancellor-winters. But I think he’s gonna do whatever he wants to do because he didn’t care about the fallout.

Abby: Even if the fallout is his relationship with his son.

Devon: Right. So, the only thing I can do is figure out how to protect my family and my company from whatever he has planned.

Abby: You know what? Let me talk to my mom. Maybe she knows something. There’s gotta be a way for us to find out what’s going on.

Devon: Yeah.

Devon: I think you just gave me an idea. I need to get a hold of the family because tucker does need to be stopped. And I think I know how to accomplish that.

Chance: So, the corporate world, huh?

Jill: Oh, my god. It’s your family legacy.

Chance: Mhm-hm. Did you two talk about this?

In unison: What?

Chance: Try to mix something up together again?

Jill: Absolutely not.

[ Text alert ] Ah, it’s devon. He wants to meet with– with me and lily. I really better get going. Please, please take seriously my suggestion.

Chance: I will, I promise.

Jill: Okay. All right, darling. I love you.

Chance: I love you more.

Jill: Both of you take care.

Nina: Bye.

Chance: Okay. I know you want to say something. So, go ahead.

Nina: Well, you know, jill and I never see eye to eye on anything. We don’t have the closest relationship–

Chance: And yet you’re already, like, wow, what a brilliant idea.

Nina: Well, it is. I was the first one to suggest it to you.

Chance: Yeah, I know. What a coincidence.

Nina: No, jill and i did not collude on this. I promise you. We’re both telling you the truth. It’s just, uh, synchronicity in the universe. Maybe it’s meant to be.

Chance: Sure.

Nina: Look, jill’s right. I mean, you’ve been around business all your life. It’s in your dna. I have no doubt that this would come totally naturally to you.

Chance: Even though I have zero interest in sitting behind a desk and crunching the numbers.

Nina: Yes, please. A nice, safe desk job. Something to help your mother sleep at night. What a novel concept. And you know, it wouldn’t just be crunching numbers. You gotta read people and set priorities. And see five steps ahead and weigh the pros and cons. It’s nothing you’re not doing anyway. Come on, this could be really great for you. Will you just think about it, please? For me?

Chance: Okay. I will, I promise.

Tucker: You’re right, devon is upset.

Ashley: Yeah. Why?

Tucker: Phyllis, I assume, uh… spreading lies and exaggerations about me. And apparently one of them got back to devon and it was the final straw for him and he has… cut me out of his life.

Ashley: So, what was this faux lie that destroyed your relationship?

Tucker: I made an investment in mamie johnson’s company and I didn’t tell devon about it.

Ashley: Interesting. So, she did get involved with you. Okay. So you had a business relationship with devon’s aunt that you didn’t reveal. Something else?

Tucker: Well, now mamie has invested in chancellor-winters. So devon suspects that she and I are colluding. And that my intention is to buy a stake in the company.

Ashley: Mhm. And I’m assuming he’s right?

Tucker: No.

Ashley: No?

Tucker: No.

Ashley: Well, that’s the only thing that makes sense. I mean, clearly, that’s one of the reasons you came back to genoa city, right? Is to get your hands on chancellor and jabot.

Tucker: Ashley, even if that were true. Why would i acknowledge it to you?

[ Ashley laughs ]

Ashley: Well, then don’T. You know, I don’t really care.

Tucker: Oh.

Ashley: Well, honestly, tucker, all this game-playing and lying. It’s exhausting even hearing about it. How do you do it?

Tucker: Wow. Your assessment of me is lovely as ever.

Ashley: It is what it is.

Tucker: We really have no common ground between us, do we?

Ashley: Actually, as I said, we share a grandson. There’s no greater common ground than that.

Tucker: So what?

Ashley: So… you’re a crappy romantic partner, right? You’re a barely decent father. But you do happen to be an excellent grandfather. I’ll give you that. So in the spirit of family peace, I’m willing to help you mend things with your son.

Tucker: Why would you do that?

Ashley: Well, definitely not for you. But I’m doing it for him and for my daughter and for that beautiful little boy.

Jack: You always have a way of saying the right thing. I am eternally grateful.

Diane: Well, I’m just relieved that I finally got through to our son.

Jack: And look, I’m grateful to you as well, for having the wisdom to change your position.

Kyle: Well, you and me both.

Jack: Listen, at the risk of pushing. I know it’s taken a while to get here. But is there anything I can say or do to lure you over the finish line?

Diane: I second that. What will it take?

Kyle: There’s nothing else you can say, either of you.

Diane: You know how much we want you back where you belong. With your family at jabot.

Kyle: I know, but… just talking it out with you has helped. Knowing the fact that you didn’t say it was too late and take the offer off the table. No, I– I don’t think I need any more time.

Jack: Wait. Does– does that mean?

Kyle: Yeah, I’m– I’m in. I’ll take the job. Back where I belong.

[ Jack grunting ]

Devon: So I wanted to update both of you as soon as possible.

Jill: What’s the latest?

Devon: I went to confront tucker about what you told me regarding his involvement in mamie’s investment.

Jill: And what did he have to say for himself?

Devon: What do you think he had to say? He denied it.

Jill: Oh, of course, he did. He wouldn’t reveal any of his cards to me either when I spoke to him. But I had this teeny little hope that he would be honest with his son.

Devon: Oh, no, he– he doesn’t care at all about that.

Lily: So he didn’t admit to anything?

Devon: Nothing about the collusion. But I believe he does have some kind of plan in the works. And we need to be ready for it.

Jill: Oh, we will be.

Lily: Yeah. I mean, now that we know he poses a threat, we’ll definitely take precautions.

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: But I’m really sorry that he let you down again. I really do believe you deserve better.

Devon: Thank you. I appreciate you saying that. I’m just glad that I know what I’m dealing with and how to move forward with him. ‘Cause he cannot be trusted. And he’s not worth any more of my time.

Lily: Well, look, I don’t want to make light of what you’re going through. But I’m really happy that you’re finally seeing who he really is.

Devon: I’m a little disappointed, more for dominic than anyone else in all this. But I don’t have a choice but to cut him off.

Lily: Well, maybe it’ll be a wake-up call for him.

Jill: No, I appreciate your optimism but I don’t think it’s gonna do him any good to have false hope. Tucker is tucker.

Devon: Very true. And in the meantime, we all need to pull together to figure out how to protect the company from whatever attack is coming.

Jill: Agreed.

Devon: In order to do that though, we need to know what tucker is up to.

Lily: Well, which is hard because he’s not honest about anything.

Devon: Exactly. But I have an idea of how to figure out what tucker’s plans are. That I’m hoping both of you will be on board with. You know that feeling of having to rewash dishesthat didn’t get clean? I don’T.

Tucker: You’re serious? You would actually help me with devon?

Ashley: I think that devon wants and genuinely needs to have a relationship with you. And this hits me where I live, tucker. I know what it’s like to cut off a parent and live with so many regrets about the lost time.

Tucker: If you could actually do what you’re proposing, obviously, that would be great. But…

Ashley: But what? This isn’t a negotiation. It’s a yes or no thing.

Tucker: How much pull do you have with devon?

>>Ashley: Well, I have a lot of pull with my daughter and you know how much he loves her. I think it’s worth a shot. You either do or you don’t, so…

Tucker: And what is it you want in return?

Ashley: I– I just can’t do this.

Tucker: All right. There she goes, running away.

Ashley: You know what? Don’t you even start with me. You want to go there?

Tucker: If I accept this offer that doesn’t make us friends.

Ashley: I don’t want to be your friend. I see there’s no possibility in that.

Tucker: Have you ever seen otherwise? Why don’t you just tell me this whole thing has been a ruse since we got back from paris. I’ll respect you a little more.

Ashley: I don’t need and want your respect.

Tucker: Oh, gee. I thought you said we could be civil towards one another.

Ashley: Yeah, I did because I thought it would be nice to gush over our gorgeous grandson’s photos someday or maybe sit in a family dinner without causing a scene. Other than that, I want nothing from you.

Tucker: Okay. Fine. I accept your offer. Thank you very much.

Ashley: You’re welcome. Fantastic. Have a great day.

Tucker: You too.

Ashley: You too.

Nina: You’re placating your mother, aren’t you? You’re humoring her so she’ll stop pushing.

Chase: Yeah, maybe just a little bit. Because I’m not ready to upend my whole career a week after getting shot. I mean, does that make any sense?

Nina: No. Not at all. But okay. I’ll support you in whatever you decide. Whether it’s chancellor-winters or some other direction.

Chance: Well, thank you. It’s just– it’s a big change, mom. It’s like stepping off a cliff. I don’t even know if I’m gonna be good at it.

Nina: I know. We’ve had this discussion before about you changing direction. I’m well aware of how difficult it would be for you to change course like this.

Chance: Yeah. I committed myself to a life of service. To serve and protect. It’s a mindset.

Nina: A mission.

Chase: Exactly. In everything I’ve done, that has been the core.

Nina: But it’s not the first time you’ve ended up hurt. And in the hospital. Just fighting for your life. I mean, how many more times, chance? Haven’t you given enough?

Chance: I– I– I’m sorry. I know I– I know I scared you.

Nina: Surviving this last bullet should be a reminder of how lucky you are to be alive, sitting here and talking to me. I mean, I’m fun to talk to, right?

[ Nina sniffling ]

Chance: Yes. Yes, you are fun to talk to. I’m never not gonna be grateful for that.

Nina: You gotta stick around, chance, okay? For my sake. For everyone else that loves you.

Chance: Trust me, you’re stuck with me.

Nina: Good.

Chance: I’ll be honest with you. There’s just– there’s one thing that’s been… just eating at me about all this.

Nina: What? Tell me.

Chance: You know, my whole life, I just ran away from the chancellor legacy. I didn’t want anything to do with it. And I, uh– I wonder if it’s because i thought I wasn’t worthy enough. You know, I wouldn’t measure up.

[ Nina scoffs ]

Nina: Well, you know what I’m going to say about that. And I think jill would agree with me. In fact, she’d probably smack you upside the head just for thinking that way.

Chase: An injured man? She would never. You know, maybe it’s time for me to rethink my place as a chancellor, and… in the family business.

Nina: That would be my dearest wish come true.

Ashley: Well, what’s going on here?

Jack: Perfect timing, ashley. Please join me in welcoming kyle back to jabot as our new chief operating officer.

Ashley: Congratulations. So you’re not gunning after billy’s job anymore?

Kyle: So you heard about that?

Ashley: I did. Not your smartest move.

Jack: Ashley…

Kyle: No, no, no, she’s right. It uh, took a few smackdowns, but I finally got set straight.

Ashley: I hope so.

Kyle: Family is a priority and I’m determined to be a team player. Especially after whatever tucker’s next move is.

Ashley: Guess what? I just spoke with tucker at the club.

Diane: You mean an actual conversation with him?

Ashley: Yeah. A conversation. I walked in on a confrontation between him and devon.

Jack: What was devon confronting him about?

Ashley: Yeah. Apparently, devon found out that tucker invested in mamie’s company. And he’s convinced that tucker and mamie are going after chancellor now.

Jack: That man will do anything. And what– what is mamie doing being involved with a man like that? That’s not like her.

Ashley: Uh, think about it a second. You know how much mamie hates jill. So maybe she thinks it’s worth it to work with tucker, so he goes after jill. I don’t know.

Jack: Yeah. I suppose.

Ashley: Yeah. Well, anyway, tucker was really hurting after the fight. Of course, he takes no responsibility for anything, as usual. But I offered to help, I don’t know, mend things between him and his son.

Jack: He’s already made it very clear to you. He is not gonna fall for any effort to get closer to him.

Ashley: Yeah. It’s not about that, jack. Okay? This is about helping the man that my daughter is in love with.

Jack: You shouldn’t get involved. If all of that is true, devon needs to separate himself from his father.

Ashley: Jackie, come on. Stop, please. How is that your call?

Jack: It’s not my call. It’s not yours either. Look, I had this argument with billy. I– I was against it then. I’m against it now.

Ashley: Duly noted. Tucker is not my favorite person right now. Okay? But I do think that devon deserves to have a relationship with his father and I’ll do what I need to do to make that happen. That’s all.

Jack: No, you’re not helping. You’re just taking advantage.

Ashley: That’s your opinion. What do you need to hear from me? I promise you. I– I don’t have any intentions of reconnecting with tucker on any level. This is about a father and son.

Jack: Exploiting a parent-child relationship is wrong and you know that.

Ashley: I’m not exploiting anybody. I’m not forcing anyone to do anything. This should make sense to you because even though we hated what dina did to us and to our father. We all wish we had more time with her. Right?

Jack: Tucker is not dina. You are meddling and you should be walking away.

Ashley: Okay. Just hear me out. I know that tucker needs and wants devon’s love and approval more than anything. And devon needs and wants a relationship with his father. I don’t see anything wrong with nudging that in the right direction. And just listen. Full disclosure, if all this kumbaya means that tucker decides to back off of jabot. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Wouldn’t it? It could actually happen because nobody can tap into tucker’s humanity like devon.

Jack: I still think we should go with my plan. Release the dirt we have on him and let it destroy the man.

Ashley: The stakes aren’t high enough with your plan. So if– if you publish that article and it doesn’t stop tucker, we’ve got nothing left, jack.

Diane: Jack, I’m sorry but I– I have to agree with ashley. I mean, right now it could just inflame tucker.

Kyle: Yeah. I think we should go with ashley’s plan. See if reconnecting with his son changes tucker’s course.

Jack: Well, it appears I’m outnumbered.

Ashley: Oh. So? Does that mean you’re gonna back off of releasing that article?

Jack: Yeah, we can sit on it a bit longer. At least we know we have it if we need it.

[ Phone ringing] Sorry, I have to take this. Excuse me.

[ Ashley sighs ] Hello?

Ashley: Okay. Well, I need to go too. Thanks. I’ll see you both later.

[ Door shuts ]

Chance: Voicemail. Hey, grandma, it’s chance. Uh, when you get a minute, I’d love to meet up with you and talk. Call me back.

Nina: Thank you. For taking the first step.

Chance: Yeah. Well, we’ll see what happens. Okay?

Nina: Oh, my goodness. A suit and tie? That’d be so cute. I can’t wait to see that every day.

Chance: No, no, no. Don’t get ahead of yourself. I’m gonna meet with her. I’m gonna get some information and try to understand what this means. Okay?

Nina: Look, you’re not gonna talk me out of being happy about this. Okay?

Chance: Wait, wait. What was that? You said every day?

Nina: Yeah, it’d be terrible for you, wouldn’t it?

Chance: Well, no, I think it’d be– it’d be kind of nice to have you around.

Nina: Well, I don’t know all my plans at the moment. But you’re not getting rid of me just yet.

Chance: Okay. I’ll take it.

Nina: Yeah. You talk a good game. But if I was around all the time, you’d get sick of me nagging.

Chance: Ah, yes. I definitely would. It doesn’t mean I don’t want you around here, though.

Nina: Oh, I love you so much, my son.

Chance: I love you.

Jill: I’m not sure about this. This is risky.

Devon: But you do think it could work though, right?

Jill: Well, there’s no guarantee and I can tell you it requires a level of trust that I’m not feeling right now.

Devon: No. I– I understand that and I know we would be putting ourselves on the line. But I really do think that this plan is the best way to get the information that we need.

Jill: So, what do you think, lily?

Lily: I mean, I agree with the risk factor…

Jill: But is it worth it?

Lily: Well, I mean, it might be the only chance we have to figure out what tucker is really up to.

Devon: Yeah. And the first step is to uncover the threat.

Lily: And then once we know that then we can stop him in his tracks.

Devon: Right.

Jill: Boy, would that be a relief.

Devon: And I don’t know about both of you, but I sure would love to be able to throw tucker’s lies back into his face.

Jill: Oh, are you kidding? I would enjoy every second of it.

Devon: Yeah. And let him know that our company is not a toy to be played with.

Jill: Yep.

[ Knock on door ]

Devon: Are we all in agreement?

Lily: Yeah. Yes.

Devon: Yeah?

Jill: Let’s do this.

Devon: Okay, let’s do it. Hi. Come in you, two.

Nate: I was surprised to get the invitation.

Mamie: Pleasantly surprised.

Devon: Well, we all have something very important to discuss with you.

Diane: How do you feel?

Kyle: It feels good. I think I made the right decision.

Diane: I’m glad you took my advice to come back to jabot. It’s a good strategy and it will be wonderful to have you there.

Kyle: Taking the C.O.O. Position is one thing. The next, may not be as easy. I’m worried I’m out of my league.

Diane: Well, don’t second guess yourself. I have complete faith in you.

Kyle: I know what I need to do now.

Diane: Yeah. You are going to be the one to save jabot from tucker. Not ashley, not billy, but you. And once you do, you will forever have hero status and everything that comes with it.

Kyle: Mhm. Dad’s done so much for me. More than I deserve. I can’t let him down.

Diane: Yeah. And when your father finds out what you did for this family, he will be so proud of you. I already am.

Kyle: I need to talk to you.

Ashley: Have you spoken with devon?

Abby: I have, yes. He was just here. Why?

Ashley: I walked in on what looked like a very intense confrontation between him and tucker.

Abby: Yeah, he came here afterwards. It’s bad, mom. Devon is very upset.

Ashley: Mhm. Do you know what the fight was about?

Abby: Oh, you know, the usual. Tucker only caring about himself.

Ashley: Well, I know for a fact that tucker cares very deeply for his son.

Abby: Oh, really? Well, not enough to not lie to his son and secretly try to go after his company.

Ashley: Does he have proof of that?

Abby: Yes, he does, mom. I’m not sure what it is, but he has proof.

Ashley: Do you think there’s any chance of them recovering from this?

Abby: Devon says he’s done. And honestly, after this latest revelation, I think their relationship might be severed forever.

Ashley: Okay. Uh, yeah, I know that you’ve worked really hard at including tucker when it comes to dominic. And, uh, you did that when you didn’t want to. So how do you feel about this situation?

>>Abby: I mean, it doesn’t really matter how I feel about it. It’s devon and I see that he’s hurting. I mean, every time he trusts his dad he lets him down.

Ashley: So, how do you feel about maybe trying to mend things for the two of them?

Abby: How?

Ashley: I don’t know. Well, you could start by talking to devon. Just say exactly what you said to me and I’ll try to support you in any way I can.

Abby: Mom, devon is a big boy. I cannot make these decisions for him. And god forbid, I push him into a relationship with his father and he gets hurt again. I would never be able to forgive myself.

Ashley: Okay, well, isn’t he hurting already? Maybe there’s something we can do to ease the pain.

Mamie: So what are we doing here? Can I presume that we are ready to finalize nate’s return to chancellor-winters?

Devon: No. Not quite. We first need you to be honest with us.

Mamie: Okay, about what?

Devon: About your real intentions. Because we all know that you and tucker have some sort of plan in the works.

Jill: A plan that involves ousting me.

Lily: And there’s no point in denying it. We know the truth.

Mamie: Tucker has made some investments in my company.

Jill: Oh, please. This is not just about funds. You and tucker are colluding to exercise your mutual goals.

Nate: Wait. So then have you just been using me? As some part of your overall plan?

Mamie: Not at all, baby. I’ve been telling you the truth. I’m just trying to get you back into the family.

Devon: Yeah. But you were willing to lie to all of us to make that happen.

Mamie: I no longer have any affiliation with your father. And I told him that to his face when I became aware of some of his many transgressions.

Jill: Why should we believe anything you say?

Mamie: You can trust me. My ultimate goal has always been to unite our family under one corporate umbrella. That has never changed.

Devon: Well, mamie, if that is the truth, then we’re gonna give you an opportunity to prove it.

Mamie: Okay. Then just tell me how.

Devon: You need to tell us what tucker’s real agenda is. ‘Cause I imagine you have an idea. And if you can do that, we can start to consider bringing nate back to chancellor-winters. But only if you are honest with us.

Audra: Kyle is reaching out. You were right.

Tucker: Reel him back in.

Ashley: Mm. I have so much respect for you. You’re so good at that. You’re so good at balancing your work life and your home life. I mean, I’m just not good at it, Mamie.

Mamie: You know, I didn’t know that much about tucker McCall, other than that he was Katherine chancellor’s son. I know that jack didn’t like him very much. I just never understood why.

Ashley: Well, Jack’s just being Jack and protective of me and Jabot, and I’m not sure in what order.

Mamie: Oh, now, now. Jack adores you.

Ashley: Oh, I know. I like him, too, most of the time.

******************

Kyle: Tucker. Tucker. Tucker. You’re making a big mistake.

Tucker: It’s not a mistake, son. It’s self-preservation, pure and simple.

Kyle: First of all, I’m not your son. And second, if you believe I have any professional allegiance to my father, then you haven’t been listening. He hasn’t shown me any, so why would I be loyal to him?

Tucker: Because he’s your father, and he’s given you everything you have, and I’m not sure I believe that you’d be willing to just blow that up when the time comes.

Kyle: Watch me light a match

Ashley: Please don’t. I can’t take the small talk.

Tucker: Okay. Well, you have rejected every effort I’ve made to reconnect and talk things out so far, so I assume you must have something very pertinent and, uh, important on your mind.

Ashley: I think it’s important, yeah.

Tucker: Well, don’t tell me, let me guess. You’d like to know what nefarious scheme I have plotted against your family, right? I can clear that up for you right now. None. And I made that clear to jack as well.

Ashley: Okay.

Tucker: Okay.

Ashley: I hope it’s true.

Tucker: So, are you here to try to chase me out of town? Jack and Billy already tried and failed. Pathetically, I might add.

Ashley: Um, why don’t you just shut up and I’ll tell you why I’m here tucker.

Tucker: Oh, yes, ma’am.

********************

Tucker: Yeah, I wish I could believe your apology, but unfortunately, I don’T.

Ashley: I didn’t think it was gonna be easy.

Tucker: That’s the problem. It seems a little too easy. You want some coffee?

Ashley: Sure. I’d love a cup.

Tucker: Because, uh, I texted you recently and I asked you if there was any way back from where we are and you responded with a very emphatic no. So, what happened? Did you have some kind of change of heart over boston or cincinnati on the flight home?

Ashley: Not really a change of heart. Maybe I just started listening to my heart.

Tucker: Oh, yeah. Wouldn’t that be peachy? Except I see right through you, Ashley. You’re hoping I will let my guard down.

Ashley: Yeah, well, jack said you were gonna react like this.

Tucker: Jack said? Ha. Oh, you gotta love the irony.

Ashley: Yeah. Actually, I don’t love anything about this. Not even a little bit. It’s a struggle.

Tucker: Okay. Well, just for kicks, let’s pretend I did believe your apology. What would this I’m sorry of yours actually look like?

Nikki: Your father seems to think someone is scheming against him and they’re going to betray him soon and this is his idea of how to trick them into revealing themselves.

Victoria: Me though? He suspects me? I mean, how could he think I would stoop so low to use his mental struggles against him? Just because he demoted me? I mean, does he think that little of me, mom?

Nikki: No, of course not. He adores you. He adores both of you. Never doubt that.

Victoria: Well, then I just don’t understand.

Nikki: Well, personally, I think this is all Adam’s fault. After years of being double-crossed by his own son, victor now wonders if he can trust anybody he’s close to.

Victoria: That might be true, but it’s not an excuse. And I’m not sure that I can forgive him.

*****************

Nick: You know what, it doesn’t really matter how we handle the situation. The bottom line is when you find out someone you love is faking a decline in order to expose a traitor, it’s not an everyday occurrence. I think we all reacted accordingly.

Nikki: True.

Nick: So let’s not dwell on the previous rotten weeks. What is important is what we do going forward.

Nikki: If we could only figure out what that is.

Victoria: Actually, Nick has an idea that might help move things along.

Nikki: Oh, I’d love to hear it

Nick: Simple. We just go along with it. We act like we’re buying dad’s condition, while dad continues to set his trap. Hopefully, Adam walks right into it.

Nikki: Or Nate.

Sally: No, don’t get me wrong. I was right there too. I just– it would be very easy to just blame it all on you, but the truth is you were just being honest with me about where your heart is. It’s just not what I wanted to hear.

Adam: Well, it wouldn’t be the first time that I, uh, I didn’t read the room.

Sally: I think the kiss confused us both.

Adam: Yeah. Maybe. I don’t know. Maybe it was just me doing what I always do. Bulldozing my way through without any regard whatsoever for what you really wanted, which was nick. You know, you had a right to be resistant. I poison whatever it is I touch.

Sally: Adam.

Adam: No, it’s– it’s the truth. You know, sometimes I think that I’m just cursed to be this– this catalyst of bad fortune. And it’s not that I try to be, but sometimes I just always end up in the middle of it. With my career, my relationship, family. Even when I have good intentions and god knows I have not always had them, I just always manage to screw it up. With you, my father.

******************

Adam: You know, you’re really good at this.

Sally: What?

Adam: Pep talks. I’m sure when you get your new company off the ground, you’re gonna be an inspiring boss.

Sally: Thank you.

Adam: Mm-hmm. I know that you inspire me.

Sally: So, are you gonna do it?

Adam: You’re forgetting one thing, big thing, in between me and Nick.

Sally: No, I’m definitely not forgetting it. And I do know that I am part of the conflict between the two of you, but this is way bigger than that too. And Nick will eventually see that if you tell him what you just told me.

Summer: Yeah, because why would you want to consult with your sibling who’s in the design industry?

Daniel: I just figured that you know, you’d be busy running a big fashion company.

Summer: Oh, stop. You thought that I would be pushy and decorate how I wanted, not how you wanted.

Daniel: No, that’s not it.

Summer: Eh?

Daniel: Yes, maybe that was it.

Summer: For your coffee table.

Daniel: Thank you. Oh, this is really cool. Thank you.

Summer: Yeah.

Daniel: So, um, I heard chance got shot.

Summer: Yeah, it’s pretty awful.

Chance: How is he? Have you heard?

Lily: Thank you.

Devon: You’re welcome.

Jill: Did nate tell you why he wanted us to meet?

Lily: No, he just texted me and devon seeing if we could be here and if you would meet us here as well.

Jill: Damn right. I can’t wait to hear about this.

[ Knocking on door ]

Devon: I will get it. Hey.

Claire: Almost time for a new one. You’ve had a lot already, but… I need you nice and calm until everyone arrives. The big family reunion.

Jill: What is she doing here? What’s going on?

Mamie: Calm down, jill. I’m here because nate wants me here.

Nate: I asked aunt mamie to come along as family for moral support.

Mamie: Now, this is your business. I’m not saying another word.

Jill: No, you won’T. We do have something we have to discuss though, mamie. Now is not the time nor the place though.

Mamie: Well, I’m looking forward to hearing whatever’s on your mind, jill.

Lily: So, nate, what did you want to talk to us about?

Nate: Yes. Um, lily, devon, I’m here because I’m hoping we can take a step closer towards repairing our relationship. Make amends. And if you’ll have me, I would like to return to chancellor-winters.

Summer: Uh, I saw chance in the hospital.

Daniel: Really?

Summer: Yeah, we’re friends. Um, the bullet went through his upper chest, near his shoulder area, so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Daniel: Lucky guy, I guess. I mean, if you can call someone who’s been shot, lucky.

Summer: Yeah, and somebody that wasn’t supposed to be in the field at all. But, uh, yeah, he’s supposed to be getting out of the hospital today, so.

Daniel: Hm. And have things changed since the last time we talked about you and chance?

Summer: There is no me and chance, daniel.

Daniel: Right. But you said–

Summer: That I had some feelings. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know what I said.

Daniel: Well, I just thought maybe things had moved on from there.

Summer: No. Nothing has changed. Chance is still with sharon and I’m not gonna get in the middle of it.

Daniel: Come on. They haven’t been together for that long. It can’t be that serious, right?

Summer: What are you suggesting? That I– I try to break them up?

Daniel: I’m merely suggesting that maybe chance has feelings for you too. Maybe this thing with sharon has run its course.

Summer: You know, you sound like mom, right? Trying to play matchmaker.

Daniel: Wow. Okay. It was just a question.

Summer: Look, chance just sees me as a friend. So, it’s kind of pointless to hope for more.

Sharon: You’re up and around and you’re here. Should you be? Is this allowed? Do you wanna sit down?

Chance: I look all right, right?

Sharon: You look wonderful.

Mariah: Chance, we are super glad that it wasn’t anything more serious.

Sharon: I want to hug you, but I don’t want to hurt you.

Chance: No. Are you kidding me? Come here. Get in here.

Sharon: What did the doctor say? How long is is the recovery gonna take?

Tessa: How long do you have to wear that sling? I mean, maybe we could get you one that’s more stylish.

Chance: What’s wrong with this one?

Mariah: What about the person that shot you? What happens to him?

Chance: Well–

Nina: A text? I get a text to meet you here. What is wrong with you? Why didn’t you let me pick you up from the hospital?

Chance: Ooh, I felt this coming. I’m sorry. I just– I didn’t want you to worry.

Nina: Oh, come on, I’m your mother. I’m always gonna worry about you. Besides, you give me no choice. All of the times I wanted to come to your side and couldn’T. And now I’m here in town and I get a text?

Mariah: You’re in trouble.

Tessa: This might be worse than a bullet.

Chance: Well, you know what? The chief of police can handle checking out of the hospital on his own, okay?

Nina: No, no. You’re my son, not chief of police. Hi, my name is damion clark. If you have both medicare and medicaid, i have some really encouraging news that you’ll definitely want to hear. Depending on the plans available in your area, you may be eligible to get extra benefits with a humana medicare advantage dual-eligible special needs plan. Nina: I haven’t forgotten you’re the police chief and you’ve got an image to protect and all that, but no one’s going to begrudge a caring parent by your side. No, I know what you’re doing. You’re afraid I’m gonna nag you about our conversation. Well, too bad. I’m nagging.

Chance: Mom…

Sharon: What conversation is that?

Chance: I just admitted that getting shot this time reminded me of getting shot last time. And the other situations where my life was on the line.

Nina: He’s questioning whether it’s time for a career change.

Chance: Questioning. That’s all. I’m not making any decisions.

Nina: Chance, you gotta trust your gut, you know? If you feel it’s time to go, then it’s time to go. You’ve spent so many years serving the public in so many ways. Just, when is it enough?

Chance: I understand that. I’ve just become chief though. Okay? You know, I’m just not really sure if walking away is the right move right now.

Nina: Well get sure.

[ Chance chuckling ]

Chance: Yeah. It’s on my mind. Don’t worry. There’s just a lot to consider. And you know what? I would honestly like sharon’s opinion on this.

Daniel: You know, that was a low blow comparing me to mom.

Summer: It stings. I know. Okay, enough about me and my love life. Let’s talk about you and your love life.

Daniel: Oh, no. No, thank you.

Summer: Oh, you don’t want to do that?

Daniel: Uh-uh.

Summer: Is there a reason?

[ Knocking on door ]

Daniel: That sounds like a pretty good reason. Hey.

Lucy: Hi, dad.

Daniel: Oh, luce and, uh, friend. Cool. Come on in. Yeah.

Heather: Hi.

Daniel: Hi. Good, good.

Lucy: Summer, hi.

Summer: Hi.

Lucy: It’s so good to see you.

Summer: Good to see you.

Lucy: Dad, you have furniture?

Daniel: I have some, yes. More is coming.

Lucy: What about my bedroom?

Daniel: Uh, your mattress should be here in a couple of days, I believe. Um, you know, I’m just gonna go ahead and ask. What’s with the pineapple?

Lucy: Oh, right. Um, happy housewarming.

Heather: On the way over here, lucy asked if we should bring you some kind of gift. So, I stopped at the grocery store to pick up this and uh, lucy insisted that she bring you a pineapple as well.

Daniel: Oh…

Lucy: You see pineapples all over savannah. Remember, dad? They mean welcome and hospitality. So, yeah.

Daniel: Normally, you see them on the front door or the stair railing, but hey, one you can eat. It’s great.

Summer: So much better.

Daniel: So much better. You know what? I love it. Thank you.

Lucy: You’re welcome.

Heather: In addition to welcoming you with alcohol and fruit, I wanted to share some good news.

Daniel: Okay?

Heather: I have an interview this afternoon at chancellor-winters for a position on their legal team.

Lucy: Isn’t that great, dad?

Daniel: It’s fantastic.

Heather: Thank you so much, daniel for, you know, making it happen.

Daniel: I think you should probably be thanking lily. Look, I hope that this all works out for you. I don’t know what I’m saying. Of course, it’s gonna work out. I mean, you’re gonna crush that interview.

Devon: Okay. So, you wanna come back to chancellor-winters?

Nate: I do.

Lily: Well, I mean, it’s not surprising. Aunt mamie’s been pushing for it.

Devon: All you’ve been talking about the last few months is how happy you are at newman and how much they respect you and how great of a boss victoria is. So, what’s changed?

Nate: Uh, I’m no longer at newman.

Devon: Did you blow things up with them like you did with us?

Nate: It depends on who you ask.

Lily: What does that mean?

Nate: Well, you all know victor retook the ceo seat.

Devon: Yeah, and demoted victoria.

Nate: Yep. So, he stepped in, made some changes. Uh, put nikki in charge of newman media, appointed adam as my assistant.

Jill: Oh, that man does love a good power play, doesn’t he?

Nate: Yep. Then he proceeded to lay a trap for his children and me. Because he suspected someone was going to betray him.

Jill: Oh, victor, of course you did.

Devon: What exactly did he do?

Nate: He pretended to be ill. Faked confusion, memory loss. He was trying to see who might take advantage of his mental decline.

Lily: That’s horrible. He let his children think that he was dying like ashland locke did with victoria?

Nate: Well, not dying. He just wanted them to think he lost his grip on reality.

Lily: How is that any better?

Jill: Oh, my god. But that is such a victor newman move if I ever heard one.

Lily: Okay. So, sorry. What does it have to do with you leaving the company?

Devon: Yeah. Did you figure out what he was doing and then call him out?

Nate: No. Just the opposite. I fell for the charade. I tried to protect the man. Get him the help. And it blew up in my face.

Claire: I’m not really surprised you tried to escape. You love to talk about how strong you are. How you can handle anything. This must be so strange for you. To be so vulnerable, not in charge of anything. You must have so many questions. Aunt jordan will explain everything. Once everyone’s here. If I tried to tell you, I’m afraid I’d get too emotional. I’m usually good at keeping everything inside, but this… this is too big. Too important. You could say I’ve been waiting for this thanksgiving my whole life. All right. Time to go set things in motion. Sweet dreams, nikki. Enjoy them while you can.

Nate: I thought I would discreetly get victor the treatment he needed. Take him to an out-of-the-way place where there’d be no chance of media leaks.

Jill: Like a facility or a clinic or something?

Nate: Yes. Yes. And it was a good plan. But victor saw it as me trying to get him out of the way so victoria and I could take control.

Devon: And that’s not what you were trying to do?

Nate: No. Not at all. I was concerned about the man and I wanted him to get proper treatment. But victor was hell-bent on finding a traitor. So he decided that’s what I was.

Jill: Oh, not you. You would never turn on anyone for your own advancement.

Nate: I’ve owned that in the past, jill, and i wouldn’t do that this time. Not with a man’s well-being at stake.

Devon: So, there was no part of you that thought that this was a good opportunity maybe to get victoria back to the top spot?

Nate: My only objective was to protect victor’s health and well-being. My plan accomplished both.

Devon: Okay. But why would victor fire you if he didn’t have any proof of what he thought you were doing?

Nate: I made arrangements for him to be placed in a facility. I set it up proactively so that things can move smoothly and quickly.

Devon: So, you committed him without his consent?

Nate: It was to assure he’d have a place set if needed. That is all. The one who was gunning to take advantage of victor’s weakness was adam.

Devon: And there’s proof of that?

Nate: Adam himself is the proof.

Lily: But victor didn’t see it?

Nate: Adam is playing the redeemed black sheep. So, victor feels the need to believe his son is sincere. Adam is family, I’m not.

Lily: So basically, now that you’re out of a job, you want us to forgive you and welcome you back to chancellor-winters.

Mamie: Welcome him back into the family, where he belongs.

Summer: So, I need to take off.

Heather: Oh, uh, summer, I hope you’re not leaving because of us. Because if– if you and daniel were in the middle of something, we can go.

Summer: No. No, please. You two stay. I gotta go pick up food and get back to work anyway. Lucy, so good to see you. I hope that walnut grove treats you well. Heather, welcome home. And you, invite me over when sally’s done with this place. I kind of want to see what she comes up with.

Daniel: Yeah, of course.

Lucy: Well, I am gonna go see my room. I was thinking of a mural wall.

Daniel: Mural wall? Hey, luce. Hey, luce. What kind of mural? Hey, what kind of mural are you thinking? Cool. Awesome. What?

Heather: Well, summer seems very curious about, uh, our dynamic.

Mariah: Well, we are gonna let you guys talk. It was good to see you, mom, and you, nina. Chance, we’re so happy that you’re out of the hospital, on the mend.

Tessa: I second all of that.

Sharon: Well, I’m gonna come by later so I can hang out with aria.

Mariah: Uh, yeah. We’ll put the hearing aids in for your visit. It’ll be great.

Tessa: Oh, she’s gonna love hearing her grandma’s voice.

Mariah: Bye, you guys.

Tessa: Bye.

Sharon: Bye.

Chance: Well, not to put too fine of a point on it, but I am starving.

Nina: I’m sorry, when are you not starving? The appetite on this one. Since he was a kid.

Chance: I barely got to eat anything in the hospital. So, why don’t I take my two favorite ladies to breakfast?

Jill: Mamie, dear. You did promise that you wouldn’t intrude on our discussion.

Mamie: No. What I said was that I would not intrude on any business discussion. This is much more than that.

Jill: Is it?

Mamie: Yes. This is about the cousins, lily, devon and nate taking a giant step towards reconciliation. And this is the very thing that my whole journey has been about.

Jill: Nate, why should we bring you back to chancellor-winters? I’m having a very hard time buying you as a team player. I mean, you just keep bouncing back between companies, pissing everybody off as you go.

Nate: Well, jill, um, I learned a lot since my departure from chancellor-winters. I’m past the need to prove myself at every turn, no matter the cost. I have a new appreciation for the value of collaboration. I’m better at knowing when to speak up and when to listen. I’ve also learned that my way or the highway isn’t gonna get me very far. I’m more flexible than I used to be. Point is, I’ve learned a lot from my wins, my losses, my highs, my lows, and more importantly, the meaning of family. I’m ready to be the best man for the job. And a proper cousin to you two, my family.

Abby: Chance. Hey, I had no idea that you were out of the hospital. That must mean that you’re doing well, right?

Chance: I’m doing better. Thank you. And thanks for coming by the hospital. I was a little groggy when you did, but I remember you being there. That’s about it.

Abby: Don’t worry about it. I’m just so thankful that you’re okay. And whenever you’re ready to see dominic, we will set up a visit.

Chance: I would love that. Thank you. Thank you.

Abby: Well, um, breakfast is on me.

Nina: Oh. Hey, abby, can you take a break for a few minutes and join us?

Abby: Um, sure. Okay.

Nina: So, I’m just curious. As dom’s mother, how would you feel if chance quit law enforcement? Just chose a totally different career?

Chance: Mom, mom, mom, mom, please. Don’t put her on the spot, please.

Nina: Just– just curious.

Abby: It’s fine. Um, when chance and I were married, I was constantly living in fear that something bad was going to happen to him. And then, something bad did happen. Spain. We know all about that. So, um, just because we’re not together anymore doesn’t mean that I stopped worrying about chance. I still care about you. And dominic thinks the world of you and someday, he’s gonna worry about you too. Here we are, we are sitting here talking about chance being shot at work, again. So, if you’re talking about walking away from the force, I’m all for it.

Nikki: Mm. As someone living with type 2 diabetes,

[ Nikki exhaling ]

Nikki: I can’t stay here. I have to find my phone. And victor. I have to call victor.

[ Nikki panting ]

Daniel: Our dynamic? We have a dynamic?

Heather: Well, come on, daniel. I saw the look your sister gave you and she sent a few my way as well. What’s, uh, what’s going on?

Daniel: Summer, you know, she’s just worried that you moving back to town, it’s gonna dredge up my old demons. I’m gonna be reminded of my spiral and I’m gonna spiral again.

Heather: She thinks it’s my fault?

Daniel: No. No, she is well aware that it was my fault. But, you know, she also knows how ashamed I was of the place that I got to when things got so dark for me. And come on, you must have thought about this stuff too. It must have crossed your mind.

Heather: No. It hasn’t, daniel. I know you’re in a better headspace now. I know you’re not going to hurt me and most importantly, lucy, like before. If I didn’t believe that, I wouldn’t have moved back here.

Daniel: Well, thank you for the support. And for the vote of confidence.

Heather: Daniel, I like who you are now. Very, very much. I mean, you have to know that, don’t you?

Abby: I mean, chance, if you did decide to walk away from the force, what would you do instead? Would you go back to security consulting or private detective?

Chance: Mm… professional baseball player, maybe? No? No? No, honestly, I’ve given zero thought to it because I don’t think I’m done being chief just yet.

Sharon: It’s a big decision, chance, which we all respect.

Chance: Thank you, sharon.

Nina: You know, maybe you should consider the corporate world. What if, you know, big business was your true calling?

Chance: Where did that come from?

Nina: Well, you– you’re a chancellor, son. I mean, big business would be a natural field for you. Don’t you think?

Summer: Chance, you’re out of the hospital. How are you feeling?

Chance: Hey, not too bad. I tell you, this thing is getting me a lot of sympathy.

Summer: Well, you deserve it.

Chance: Oh.

Nate: I’ve kept up with what’s happening at chancellor-winters. I read all the business press. Uh, so I’m up to speed on what’s been accomplished. I think I can be of use in a number of areas. And like aunt mamie said, I want to feel like I’m part of the family again.

Lily: Well, those are two separate things. So, do you want to be welcome back into the family or do you want a job now that you’re unemployed?

Nate: Lily, I miss you. And you too, devon. Look, our estrangement has gone on too long. I– I hate that we’re not as close as we used to be.

Mamie: So do I.

Nate: And so does my mom. I wanna make her proud. And malcolm and my dad and dru and neil. I know we can get there. Look, neil and malcolm always found a way back from their issues. And lily, you know, dru and my mom clashed plenty, but they always made up.

Jill: Okay. Nate, I really appreciate you putting yourself on the line like you did. That wasn’t easy and I do believe you were sincere when you said that you regretted betraying us in the past. But now, devon and lily and I have to discuss whether we want you back and lily, you know, dru and my mom clashed plenty, but they always made up.

Jill: Okay. Nate, I really appreciate you putting yourself on the line like you did. That wasn’t easy and I do believe you were sincere when you said that you regretted betraying us in the past. But now, devon and lily and I have to discuss whether we want you back at chancellor-winters.

Lily: Yeah, we’ll talk about it.

Devon: And no promises.

Nate: Thank you for listening. Aunt mamie.

Mamie: Oh, and jill, I do look forward to us having a discussion about our issues.

Jill: Oh, I do too, mamie. Don’t you worry.

Devon: I’ll walk you two out. See you.

Jill: Well. Hm.

Lily: Uh, I don’t know. I mean, he seemed sincere.

Jill: Mm-hmm.

Lily: And honest and, I mean, I know that we all believe in second chances. I know I wouldn’t be here without them.

Jill: Yep.

Devon: Yeah. But let’s, like, take a second and really think about this. ‘Cause I don’t think that he’d care at all about chancellor-winters if he hadn’t gotten fired. And this is now what? Two strikes on him in the corporate world? One from us, one from newman? And I think I’d like to learn a little more about that victor story before we just go ahead and make a decision.

Lily: No. Yeah, you’re right. I mean, he could be lying to us.

Jill: I don’t think he was lying. I don’t think he was making that whole thing up. It sounds too much like victor newman. And he knows how easy it would be for us to check it out. You would just say something to abby and she would talk to her siblings.

Devon: Sure. Yeah. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that his intentions weren’t self-serving. Or at least serving victoria.

Lily: Jill, what do you think about nate coming back?

Jill: Would it have been my first choice? No. He crossed a hell of a line trying to sell us out. But I do agree with you. I think he was being sincere. So, yeah, I might be persuaded to give it a try if nate is being straight with us because, whoa, we’re gonna need all the support we can get right now.

Devon: What does that mean, jill?

Summer: Thank you.

Abby: Summer. Hey. Um, I think we need to talk.

Summer: Yeah. What about?

Abby: What’s going on with you and chance?

Summer: I don’t– I don’t know what you’re talking about. Oh, my god. I guess it really is that obvious, huh?

Lily: I know what jill is talking about.

Devon: Okay. Does anybody want to let me know what jill’s talking about?

Lily: I was gonna tell you today. I just– I know that you’ve been really trying to work things out with tucker.

Devon: Okay. And?

Lily: There’s evidence that tucker is involved with mamie’s investment in chancellor-winters.

Devon: I know that’s what we thought.

Lily: No, we have the proof. I’ve seen it. So not only does mamie have a vested interest in chancellor-winters, but so does tucker.

Jill: And that interest most likely involves getting rid of me.

Devon: And what’s this evidence that you found?

Lily: Tucker has been making investments with mamie’s firm, L.B.B. And it’s not a coincidence. I mean, they are colluding somehow.

Mamie: Oh, I’m so proud of you, nathan jr. You handled everything just right today. Your cousins would be foolish not to have you back into the family business.

Nate: Thank you for the vote of confidence, aunt mamie. But I’m not so sure if that’s gonna happen. I mean, sure we’ve taken steps in the right direction, but it’s obvious devon needs more time or more convincing to forgive me. If he ever does. And that whole victor fiasco surely didn’t help.

Mamie: Well, I think he’ll get there. And if he doesn’t, you just leave him to me. I think I can get him across the finish line.

Nina: Well, thank you, dear, for breakfast. I have to, um, jump on a call with my agent, but do you want me to drop you at your apartment so you can get some rest?

Chance: Uh, you know what? I think I’m gonna stick around here for a while. If that’s okay with you.

Sharon: I’ll suffer through.

Nina: Okay, good. I’ll see you.

Chance: See you.

Nina: I love you, sweetheart.

Chance: I love you more.

Nina: Bye, sharon.

Sharon: Bye.

Chance: Hi.

Sharon: Hi.

Chance: I missed you.

Sharon: I missed you too. So, now that it’s just the two of us, how do you really feel about possibly leaving the force and doing something else?

Chance: We talked about this before.

Sharon: Yeah. And you said that as frustrating as it can be sometimes, especially with folks who believe that the law doesn’t apply to them and as dangerous as it can get on occasion, you liked helping people and keeping them safe.

Chance: Yeah. And you know what? I felt really good about being chief. I hate the idea of leaving my guys in the lurch, you know? But hey, I guess getting shot is a pretty good reason to rethink your life.

Sharon: Well, whatever you decide is fine by me. I hope you know that. I just don’t want you to feel pressured into making a decision.

Chance: Thank you. Really. No, I promise, I’m gonna do what’s best for me.

[ Nikki groaning ]

Nikki: Oh, I feel so weak and light-headed. Like I’ve been…

[ Nikki inhaling ] Oh, my god. No. No. No.

[ Nikki panting ] No.

Jordan: Don’t get soft on me now, claire.

Claire: Aunt jordan.

Jordan: We have waited so long and we’re so very, very close.

Narrator: Next week on the young and the restless…

Jill: Come to work with me at chancellor-winters. Honey, I will teach you the ropes of the business world.

Abby: Well, it is so good to see all of you. Michael, gloria, I’m glad that you’re home and I’m glad that you kept her out of prison.

Nikki: Oh, god. What have I done?

Ashley: I bet you’re happy to see me, right?

Diane: Yeah. You know, we’re never going to be besties, but we are family. So peace for Jack’s sake?

Ashley: Absolutely. You saved my life.

Diane: Oh, there is that.

Ashley: So, I will try very hard not to hate you.

Diane: Well, I will try hard not to hate you back.

Ashley: Great. How’s everybody, anyway?

Diane: Um, uh, well, Kyle left this morning. I haven’t seen him. Traci, I think she had dinner plans, and, oh, my grandson is upstairs getting ready for his bath.

Ashley: Oh, my grandson. I have to see Dominic tomorrow. Absolutely.

Diane: Ashley.

Ashley: Yeah.

Diane: Um, hey, I’m– I’m sorry about the way your marriage turned out. I mean, I– I– I don’t know your side of things directly, of course, but, um, there is no doubt in my mind that tucker is to blame for whatever happened.

Ashley: Yeah. You know what? It’s okay. We don’t really have to dwell on that, okay?

*************************

Jack: When I realized you were listening in, I was tempted to beat you at your own game.

Tucker: All right.

Jack: Yes. Some fake conversations, send you charging off in the wrong direction. The entertainment value was hard to pass up.

Tucker: But you did, pass it up.

Jack: Well, I realized I didn’t want to stoop to your level.

Tucker: There’s good old Jack, righteous as ever.

Jack: I don’t need to stoop to your level. See, I have no doubt in my mind, the Abbotts will always have the upper hand where you’re concerned, so whatever it is you’re really up to here, whatever it is you want to accomplish, I have some advice. Give it up. Go away, back to your monastery or your mountain top. Anywhere but here.

Tucker: No, I like being close to my son and my grandson. Besides, running away is really not my style. It sounds like more of an Abbott trait.
