[ Relaxing music ]

Hope: I’m, uh… I’m sorry to get emotional.

Finn: Oh, hey, there’s nothing to apologize for.

Hope: Well, I appreciate it. It’s been, uh… it’s been hard just trying to keep my head above water and… with that being said, hey, I didn’t mean to get into everything here.

Finn: No, hey, I totally understand. Look, Steffy, she went through the exact same thing. I think that’s one of the reasons you allowed yourself to turn to Thomas. It’s because he is totally committed to you, and only you. But, like I said, I think you can do better than Thomas.

[ Deacon laughing ]

Sheila: Are we really engaged?

Deacon: Yeah, well, you made me work for it before you said yes. There we go. All right. Breakfast of champions.

Sheila: Mm…

Deacon: Oops.

Sheila: You got that?

Deacon: All right. Yup. Cheers.

Sheila: Cheers.

Deacon: Mm. Mmm!

Sheila: Mm. Mmm!

Deacon: That’s good.

Sheila: You know why I didn’t say yes immediately.

Deacon: Yeah, ’cause you were worried about my relationship with Hope.

Ridge: This showdown is gonna stay intimate. Just a few select buyers that won’t know that this is a competition. Dad and I, we’re gonna roll out just a handful of new designs, and whoever sells the most wins, and that line goes into production. Easy peasy.

Carter: Yes, easy peasy. Sounds very thorough. You see this?

Ridge: The diamonds?

Carter: Mm-hmm.

Eric: Well, you got my order, huh?

Ridge: Yeah. You don’t think you’re going overboard a little?

Eric: Donna, look. You see that look in his eyes?

Donna: Mm-hmm.

Eric: He’s picturing all of his designs, wondering if any of them could possibly compete with my opulence.

Ridge: Or maybe, you see, he’s picturing how jewel tones will destroy classic opulence–

Eric: You know, classic never goes out of style.

Donna: You should know.

Eric: Thank you, darling. See? She understands. Look, when I come out on top, you will have learned your lesson. That nothing and no one can hold back Eric Forrester.

Luna: I, um… I don’t think that line can get any darker. What’s going on?

RJ: Nothing.

Luna: It’s your grandfather, isn’t it?

RJ: Yeah. I spoke to my Aunt Donna, and she says, uh… the situation with my granddad is a lot worse than I thought.

Luna: Look, I don’t mean to pry, and you don’t have to tell me anything you don’t want to.

RJ: No. No, no, it’s not that, it’s– come on, I meant it when I told you that I trusted you. I do, okay? It’s just this is– this is a lot. My granddad’s doctor says that it’s cerebrovascular disease or TIA’s. Mini strokes.

Luna: I’m so sorry. Does anyone else know?

Eric: You, uh, you think you’re gonna be ready?

Ridge: Oh, I know I’m gonna be ready.

Carter: Here we go.

Donna: Uh-huh.

Eric: Jewel tones. That’s an interesting choice.

Ridge: He’s not gonna get in my head.

Eric: I’m not trying to get into your head. It’s just jewel– I said jewel tones are an interesting choice.

Ridge: Yes, says the man who can’t design anything without French lace.

Carter: It’s like they’re the same person.

Donna: Seriously.

Eric: French lace is wonderful. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Ridge: Exactly. Don’t fix it. The hands of the master.

Eric: There you are.

[ Carter laughs ]

[ Donna laughs ]

Sheila: What do you think? Should we save this cork?

[ Deacon chuckles ]

Sheila: What?

Deacon: No, I just I didn’t peg you for a sentimentalist.

Sheila: Okay, forget it.

Deacon: No! Hey, hey! Oh, you almost made it. Uh, no, look, it’s a good thing, you know? Um, chalk it up to the new you.

Sheila: You know, it really means a lot to me that you really believe I’m a changed woman. I just… I want Finn to see that too. I want him to believe it.

Finn: I don’t know where things are with you and Thomas, and I’m not asking, but look, I do know that he’s done a lot of messed up things to you in the past. And maybe Ridge and Taylor and Steffy, maybe they’re all right, you know? Maybe Thomas has changed. Maybe he’s new and reformed, and that would be wonderful. But it doesn’t change the fact that you are an incredible person who deserves better than Thomas.

Eric: This never gets old, being back in my office again.

Ridge: Well, why don’t you sit down, relax, take the weight off. Enjoy yourself.

Eric: Oh, I will. After I beat you in the fashion challenge and take back what’s rightfully mine, never to relinquish it again. So, Carter, you’ll make sure that those orders go through?

Carter: Already approved.

Eric: Good.

Donna: Honey Bear, um, we should probably get home if you want to make that meeting.

Eric: Yeah. Yeah, thanks. Time’s running out, Ridge.

Luna: So, Eric hasn’t gotten, like, an official diagnosis yet?

RJ: Donna says they still need to run more tests, but I went online and I looked up possibilities, which you should never do, but I did. And, uh, it’s not good. My granddad’s situation’s a lot worse than when he told me it was just arthritis.

Luna: You know, staying positive can do wonders. I really believe that. For both your mental and physical health.

RJ: I’m trying to.

Luna: I– I mean, for your– for your grandfather. I think he’s got the best setup for it. You know, with– with Donna, she’s always so cheery and loving with him, and you helping him with his collection. You’re keeping him excited and motivated about the future. He’s so lucky to have you, RJ.

Sheila: I’m just saying, maybe this engagement will help Finn to see that I’m not unlovable.

Deacon: Wait a second. You didn’t accept my proposal so that–

Sheila: No, daddy.

Deacon: All right.

Sheila: No, I didn’t. These are two separate things.

Deacon: Okay, just checking. Making sure.

Sheila: But really, it… it might help him see that I am loveable. I do want a second chance with him. I don’t want him to think that I’m the monster that Steffy and the Forresters make me out to be.

Deacon: Okay, well, then, as your fiancé, I vow to do everything I can to make that happen.

Finn: All I’m saying is I think whatever you see in Thomas is because you’ve been deprived of a man who is thoroughly and totally committed to you.

Hope: Okay, well, reality check appreciated.

[ Both chuckling ]

Hope: Uh, but I do think if we are being honest here with each other, I mean, those divided feelings, that cycle that I’ve talked about being a part of for so long. I mean, like you said, Steffy has felt that way too, and she’s always going to have that tie to Liam, um… and I’m not– I’m not saying that you guys are having troubles. Steffy’s smart, and she is insightful. And I cannot imagine her taking your love and your commitment for granted.

Hope: Well, I– I guess I have to thank Kelly for losing her pillow ’cause, uh, this is actually– it’s been nice talking to you. Refreshing. I feel like you understand what I’m going through.

Finn: You’re gonna be all right. You are all right. And you are a strong, compassionate, incredible, beautiful person. And working through this, it’s gonna take some time and energy and it’s emotionally draining, but once you’re on the other side of it, you’re not gonna be sorry. Hey, and at least you already know your own worth. You do. You deserve a man’s whole heart. And he’s out there, Hope. It’s just not Thomas.

Carter: What?

Ridge: What? Here I was so worried about my dad and it seems like it was all for nothing.

Carter: What do you mean?

Ridge: What do you mean what do I mean? You saw him. He’s doing great. He’s at the top of his game.

Donna: Here, let me help. Here, let me help you, please. It’s okay. Here.

Eric: “The hands of a master.” [ Chuckles ] Thank you.

Donna: You’re welcome. That’s okay.

[ Eric grunting ]

Donna: These hands of yours belong right here, okay?

[ Eric chuckling ]

Donna: Right here. We’re gonna get you help, okay? We can get the best doctors in L.A., And, um, nothing is gonna hold you back.

Eric: No, nothing will. Nothing’s gonna keep me from creating this crowning achievement of my career. Nothing.

[ Eric coughing ]

Donna: Are–

[ Eric exhales sharply ]

Eric: It’s all right. It’s nothing. It’s nothing.

[ Both chuckling ]

Eric: I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Here, come here. Come here. Come here.

Luna: It’s obviously weighing on you, your grandfather’s condition. I mean, whatever it ends up being. And the fact that he asked you to keep it from everyone? I mean, carrying a big secret like this is a real burden. I know how it feels.

RJ: What are you? You CIA? Are you deep cover? Is that it? Is that what this all is?

Luna: Oh, my god. [Laughs] No, I just– I just gotta say how lucky I feel. I mean, getting this internship? It’s always been my dream to work at Forrester. I never thought I’d be working here, let alone be helping Eric Forrester! I mean, what? I’m just really grateful for this opportunity. And especially getting to work with you and getting to know you better.

Finn: Hey, Deacon.

Deacon: Finn. Thanks for coming.

Finn: Uh, yeah. I got your text. What’s– what’s up?

Deacon: It’s about Steffy.

Finn: It’s about Steff– what’s– I’m all ears.

Donna: You know, I can’t believe how free and easy you were with Ridge earlier. I mean, here I am trying to cancel this whole stupid competition. You know, relax with you, enjoy ourselves, and you’re– you’re joking with your son.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Telling him that time is running out.

Eric: Uh-huh, uh-huh.

Donna: Eric, what kind of dark humor is that?

Eric: Donna, I’m gonna live ’til I die, all right? And I’m gonna enjoy every moment of it, and I think laughter is a much better way to live all of the years and days that I have left. I’m gonna laugh when– when I get the company back from Ridge, and– and I’m gonna laugh when I prove my relevance to him again. And I can only do this because of you… and how much you love me. I love you, too.

Donna: I love you so much.

Eric: Come here. Come here.

[ Phone chiming ]

Luna: One of your millions of followers?

RJ: Hey, there’s only one I’m interested in talking to right now. It’s receiving and they need a couple signatures, so I’ll be right back, okay? Hey, I, um, I wanna say thank you for what you said to me earlier. It means a lot to me. I hope you know that. I’m happy you’re here at Forrester, too.

[ Phone ringing ]

Luna: It’s not a good time.

Woman: When is it a good time? You haven’t been answering my calls.

Luna: Yeah, because I’m busy, Mom. I’m sure this could’ve been a text.

Mother: You have to leave right away. Come home. You can’t be in Los Angeles. I know what you’re doing.

Luna: I’m– I’m– I’m not doing anything.

Mother: You definitely can’t be at Forrester Creations!

Luna: I’m– I’m not.

Mother: It’s on the company website! “Welcome new interns!” You get why you can’t do this. How my sister will react? With Finn? You know your Aunt Li will let you have it.

Luna: I don’t care, Mom.

Mother: And what about Finn?

Luna: I mean, I told you. I’m following my dreams.

Mother: It is only a matter of time before you’re found out. It’ll all come to a crashing halt.

Luna: I gotta go.

RJ: Hey, told you it wouldn’t take long. What’s– what’s going on? What’s wrong?

Finn: You deserve a man’s whole heart. And he’s out there, Hope. It’s just not Thomas.

Finn: You called me over here about Steffy?

Deacon: Yeah. Uh, I know that she took the kids and she went to Europe.

Finn: Yeah, because of Sheila. I mean, she doesn’t feel safe here with Sheila on the loose.

Deacon: Well, that’s completely understandable given what happened in the alley.

Finn: Look, you have no idea how badly I want my wife and the kids to come back, so if you know something, Deacon, if you know something about Sheila, if you know–

Deacon: I do. I do.

Finn: Then tell me. I– I– I need to get my wife back.

Deacon: Finn, what if I told you that I could help the situation? What if I told you that I could ensure that Sheila would never be an issue, not for you, not for Steffy? I– know, I know. She’s a free woman, but she’s not gonna harm anyone.

Finn: What are you talking about?

Deacon: I think you have a pretty good idea about my checkered past. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, big ones, and I wound up incarcerated. But you know what? I turned my life around. I mean, look at this place look at it. It’s– it’s a huge success.

Finn: That’s great. What’s does that have to do with Steffy?

Sheila: Hi, baby.

Deacon: I told you I wanted to talk to you about your mom.

Finn: What’s going on?

Sheila: What’s it look like, sweetheart?

Finn: No. What? No, what, you and Deacon?

Sheila: I– I have struggled my whole life. I have struggled to fit in and get ahead. To try and find someone that truly cared for me, accepted me. And I– I’ve finally found that someone.

[ Finn scoffing ]

Sheila: Someone who loves me. I’m happy. I am so happy. And I just– I hope that you can be happy for me, too.

[ Piano playing ]

[ Misplaying ]

[ Begins song again ]

[ Misplaying ]

[ Piano playing from phone ]

[ Eric coughing ]

Donna: Oh, for a second, I thought you were playing.

Eric: I tried.

[ Music stopping ]

Eric: They just… my hands won’t cooperate. I can’t. I can’t.

Donna: There’s more time for me to do that.

Eric: Thank you.

Donna: You hear from the doctor?

Eric: No, they’re still waiting to set up some new tests, so I gotta wait for that.

[ Donna sighing ]

Donna: Cerebrovascular disease and TIA’s, huh? Mini strokes. If that’s what we’re dealing with, I think we need some answers fast.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: You okay? Something, you, um, need to tell me or?

Eric: No. Everything’s just fine.

RJ: Hey.

Donna: Hi.

RJ: What’s going on? Is everyone okay?

[ Knocking on door ]

[ Finn sighing ]

Finn: Oh, hi.

Hope: Hey. Um, Steffy texted and said you needed this for a package for her and the kids in Europe?

Finn: Yeah, you guys had it, huh?

Hope: Yeah, Kelly’s sequin pillow.

Finn: Wow. I’m surprised she left without it. Um, thanks for bringing it by. I mean, you didn’t have to come all the way up here.

Hope: Oh, I’ve been up since four A.M. anyways. You know, just trouble sleeping these days. Life.

Finn: Yeah. Well, I can, um, I can relate. It sounds like your life has been a little bit complicated too lately.

Hope: Well, thank you for downplaying it.

Finn: Hm. You know, we don’t get the chance to talk much. Obviously, I’m aware of the whole interaction with Thomas in Rome and I’m not sure exactly where that stands now, but I just wanted to say, you– you’re better than Thomas.

Sheila: Are we really doing this?

Deacon: Oh, baby, we’re doing this.

Sheila: Engaged?

Deacon: I’m gonna get you a ring.

Sheila: I really don’t care about a ring.

Deacon: No, no, no. I’m getting you one. You deserve one. You deserve everything life has to offer, including a second chance.

Sheila: Well, maybe I should have you talk to my son for me.

Deacon: Yeah. Yeah, speaking of that, I’m gonna have to figure out a way to tell Hope about this.

Sheila: Yeah, I wonder how Finn’s gonna react.

Sheila: You know, we should probably keep our engagement on the down low until we figure out how to break the news.

Deacon: Our secret. Our little bubble here. No one messing with it. Sound good?

Sheila: Yeah. I– I still can’t believe, you know, the lengths that you went through. The judge, for me, insuring my freedom and then, on top of all of that, you– you popped the question.

Deacon: I can’t help myself. I’m crazy about you.

Sheila: There’s that word again.

[ Both chuckling ]

Sheila: I just hope you’re not crazy at the expense of your relationship with Hope.

Hope: Well, everyone seems to have an opinion about my personal life these days.

Finn: Sorry. You know, I probably shouldn’t have said anything. You know, especially since I’m speaking poorly about my brother-in-law.

Hope: Welp.

Finn: Well, it’s just we all know his history, you know? And the things that he’s done, especially to you.

Hope: Join the peanut gallery. I mean, you sound like my mom or RJ or my dad.

Finn: Well, maybe you should listen to them. I mean, look, I get it. You guys, you work together, you co-parent Douglas, but there’s just always been this Svengali quality to Thomas. Hope, I’ve always thought very highly of you and I just want what’s best for you.

RJ: Granddad, you sure you’re good?

Eric: Am I sure I’m good?

RJ: Yeah.

Eric: Yeah, I’m good with you at my side. I’m good, yeah.

RJ: So, you’re okay? You know, besides the tremors, you’re–

Eric: I’m okay, I’m okay. I’ve got you. Look at you. I can’t tell you how much that means to me. Look what you’re doing! Look what you’re doing. You’re a great designer, you are, and your loyalty, it means so much to me. I want you to keep this secret from everybody about the tremors, and most especially from Ridge.

Sheila: My fiancé, my fiancé, my fiancé. I like the way that sounds. God, I wish I could just stay like this forever because when the news gets out, it’s gonna send shockwaves through our families.

Deacon: Yeah. Hope and Brooke are definitely gonna be stunned, to say the least. Probably be disappointed, but you know, hey, I gotta believe that after a while, I’m gonna get through to them. Especially Hope.

Sheila: I sincerely wish that for you. And I sincerely wish that Finn could be free of Steffy so that I could have another chance.

Finn: Here you go.

Hope: Oh, wow, thank you. You really didn’t have to.

Finn: Oh, no. It’s the least I can do after you brought Kelly’s pillow all this way. You know, after she won that at the carnival, she wouldn’t let it out of her sight. Right?

Hope: Well, I’m glad they will be reunited soon.

Finn: So, how are you doing with everything? I mean, I know I’m going crazy here without Steffy and the kids and you know, we’re still together. I can only imagine for you. Sorry, I– I don’t mean to overstep. I just, I’m trying to make sure you’re doing all right.

Hope: No, I– I– I appreciate that. Um… okay, if I– I’m being honest, uh, yeah, no, it hasn’t been easy trying to adjust to the new normal and the new schedule for the kids, dealing with work while my marriage is– has fallen apart. Um… sometimes, it just… I get sad. All those years, just… with Liam and his divided heart.

Eric: More than anything, I want this collection to exude opulence. You know what I’m thinking? I’m thinking diamonds through the bodice.

Donna: Diamonds? Gorgeous.

RJ: And expensive.

Eric: Whose side are you on?

RJ: No, I’m just saying, that’s a lot for a design, that, you know, might not–

Eric: You don’t think we’re gonna win this thing?

RJ: No, no, yeah. I think we’re gonna win.

Eric: Okay, good. You know, one thing I’ve learned in all my years of design is that you can’t cut corners with design. You don’t sacrifice quality for speed or cost, and always use the company credit card.

RJ: Yeah. Well, yeah. It’s your company.

Eric: Yeah, you got that right. We should do diamonds on every one of these designs. I’d love to see the look on Carter and Ridge’s face when they see the invoice.

Donna: Oh, you are so bad.

Eric: You got that right. Now, we’re gonna win this thing. We can do it. And when we do win it, I’m gonna take back this company. I’m gonna take back my company and my office and I’m gonna put my final stamp on this– on this fashion house that I created. Forrester Creations.

Deacon: Sheila, did I hear you correctly? That now you want Finn and Steffy’s marriage to end?

Sheila: I’m not saying that, but I can’t forget that Steffy took the kids and went halfway around the world and abandoned my son.

Deacon: Babe, you know why she did that, right?

Sheila: I am not a threat to Steffy. I just want a place in my son’s life.

Deacon: Okay, good. Just checking. Come here. I believe in you.

Hope: A lot has changed for me since that kiss with Thomas in Rome. It was a catalyst for me to address some deep-seated issues with Liam, with myself. And while I never doubted Liam’s love for me, I also, unfortunately, never doubted his love for Steffy either. Which I am sorry, no– that’s– I shouldn’t. That’s inappropriate. I don’t want to undermine what you two–

Finn: No, you’re not. You’re not. I get it. Um, Steffy and the kids, they’ve been, um, they’ve been gone a while and it’s been extremely tough, you know, but I just want my wife and kids back.

Hope: Is there any progress on that front? I mean, I know Sheila is still a threat.

Finn: Yeah, but I– I talk to Steffy everyday. We text and call each other.

Hope: Well, Finn, you’ve always been devoted to Steffy and that commitment, that is a strength. Steffy is lucky to have you.

Finn: You wanna tell her that?

[ Hope chuckling ]

Finn: That’s– that’s really kind though, thanks. Look, and I feel for you, what you’re going through with Liam. And I don’t know exactly where you stand with Thomas, but just hearing what you’re saying and talking about this self-discovery, I just think that you’re drawn to Thomas because he’s totally focused on you and only you.

RJ: So, Granddad went to go get his medication?

Donna: Yep.

RJ: For his tremors.

Donna: Yeah.

RJ: Donna, hey. It’s just us two, okay? You can talk to me.

Donna: Sure. Yeah, of course.

RJ: He’s– he’s– I don’t know, like he’s off or– or something’s off and affecting him. Like, I– I just feel like I don’t know everything that’s– that’s going on with his health because, you know, he said that it was arthritis, he said that it was carpal tunnel and he has these tremors.

Donna: Mm-hmm.

RJ: And we both have seen it. It’s gotten consistently worse, all right?

Donna: Uh–

RJ: Listen. Please, Donna. Tell me what’s really going on with him.

Donna: Listen, you gotta– you have to promise not to say anything to anyone, okay?

RJ: Say– say what to anyone?

Donna: The doctor feels that, um, Eric might be suffering from cerebrovascular disease or TIA’s. Mini strokes.

RJ: He’s having strokes?

Donna: Yeah. And if he has, um, if anything happens like a blood clot or something, Eric could die. And that’s why, um, that’s why he feels like he’s running out of time and, um, why he has to finish this collection.

Donna: Cerebrovascular disease or TIA’s? So, it’s neurological?

[ Eric coughing ]

[ Eric coughing ]

[ Eric panting ]

Finn: I’m– I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable.

Hope: No, it’s– it’s okay. I mean, talking to someone other than my family is actually probably the healthy thing to do.

Finn: You know, I do know his history and his obsession. And look, Taylor and– and Ridge and Steffy, they all think that he’s changed.

Hope: I do, too.

Finn: I can only imagine, like, what the difference is for you. I mean, you go from Liam and his never ending divided feelings, to Thomas, someone who is intense and laser focused with his attention on you and only you. I mean, that must feel so good to have that. Look, and I’m sure Steffy feels something similar. You know, she has me, someone who is totally committed to her versus all those years that she was involved with Liam.

Hope: Well, like I said, she’s lucky to have you.

Finn: Yeah, I’m not sure she feels that way right now. But look, I’m not gonna let Steffy get sucked into that old rut. I’m determined to get Steffy back and reunite my family.

Hope: And I’m sure you will. That devotion is admirable.

Finn: I mean, even like, the way you talk about devotion, it’s… it’s almost like you’ve always been chasing it, you know, and now you have that. With Thomas. But, do you really want to be with him? Like, with all that history?

[ Hope chuckling ]

Hope: Well, uh, clearly, I believe in second chances, third chances, fourth chances, fifth chances, but I also believe that people can change. And being with Thomas, knowing that he is dedicated and loyal to me, I mean, that is a big change from the indecisiveness and the heartache that would sometimes come along with being with Liam. Uh… I guess I didn’t realize how much it was weighing me down. Sometimes, it isn’t until that weight is lifted that you suddenly realize, um… how ground down you were. The sadness and the heaviness of it all. Um, and growing up, you know, watching my mom in pain because of a man’s divided heart, I swore that I would never be like her, and yet, there I was, perpetuating that same cycle with a man with a divided heart. I mean, is it really so hard to ask to be loved by a man who just… loves me and only me?

Finn: Hey.

Hope: I’m sorry.

Finn: No, it’s okay.

Hope: No, it’s embarrassing.

Finn: It’s okay.

Hope: I’m sorry, Finn.

Eric’s Doctor tells him that they’re still narrowing down what’s wrong with him and need to do more tests. Donna is shocked to hear that they’re looking into Cerebrovascular disease and TIA’s. Eric knew about that possibility but didn’t tell her, so she’s annoyed with him. Eric tells Dr. Colby that his tremors are getting worse. RJ is frustrated while working with Luna. They discuss Eric and his mysterious illness some more, and how RJ feels caught in the middle between Eric and Ridge. She admires his relationship with his granddad again. He asks her for some personal information, in return for what he’s been telling her. She tries to change the subject, but he insists. She tells him some things about her family: that she’s from the Bay Area, that her mom had her whens he was really young, and that they’re artistic free spirits who went to music and art shows. She compliments him and gives him a hug.

Eric: Have a seat, Dr. Colby, please. I appreciate very much your discretion, meeting us here at the house. Thank you.

Colby: Of course.

Donna: We really wanna make sure that nobody else finds out about this.

Eric: I wanna know what’s going on. What’s happening with me? What’s wrong with me, Doctor?

[ Brooke chuckling ]

Brooke: Wow.

Ridge: Come on. What do you think?

Brooke: I see you’re going with the jewel tones.

Ridge: Yes, and to me, this is the shape of water. The body brings out the shape of the dress and the dress brings out the shape of the body, yes?

Brooke: It’s so sensual.

Ridge: Mm. It’s what dreams are made of.

Kenzie: We’ve all noticed you’re more inspired than ever, ever since you two reunited.

Ridge: Well, I’ve always been inspired by this little nugget. As long as I can remember. I love you.

Brooke: I love you.

RJ: Where is– I just had it. Where’s the burgundy? I can’t find it. Hey, have you– have you seen the burgundy? Thank you. Sorry, Granddad really wants to see this.

Luna: You really care about him.

RJ: Yeah, I do. Especially after what I told you.

Luna: Yeah, I’m serious. I promise, I won’t tell anyone about the tremors.

RJ: I trust you.

Luna: Look, I know a thing or two about family dynamics and I’m not gonna sit here and pretend like I know all of yours, but do you really want to keep this secret about your grandfather from your dad?

RJ: No. Of course, I don’t, but I made a promise to my granddad. If this were up to me, I’d just tell my dad.

Ridge: See, I like the transition in here. Does it flow okay?

Kenzie: Not too snug.

Ridge: Okay, good! I think that’s all we need for today. Thank you so much. Bye.

Kenzie: Carter.

Carter: Kenzie. Wow, man. Very nice.

Ridge: Thank you.

Carter: Yeah. Your dad’s gonna have to bring his A game if he wants to compete with you.

Donna: Well, um, prior visits, you mentioned essential tremors?

Colby: Yes, that was a possible initial diagnosis. After some further testing, we were able to rule out some other theories too. Well, you know our concerns, Eric.

Eric: Yeah.

Colby: Cerebrovascular disease and TIA’s are our main focus.

Donna: What?

RJ: I– I don’t know. I don’t know, Luna. I mean, I just– I feel really caught in the middle.

Luna: Yeah, it doesn’t make it easy.

RJ: I really want to just tell my dad, but I don’t want to betray my granddad.

Luna: It’s really great, you know. Your relationship with your grandfather. I mean, it’s so loving and caring. I didn’t have that with mine.

RJ: You know, here I am talking about me and all of my issues, you’re getting to know– you’re getting to know me a little bit too well, I would think. Come on, tell me, tell me a little about you. Give me just one little juicy Luna secret.

Carter: Ridge, I know this isn’t easy for you.

Ridge: It’s not easy for me. I’m worried about my dad, I’m worried about his health. I know he’s in good shape, but… I know– I know what kind of stress is created by trying to do this whole line by yourself.

Brooke: Add that to the fashion showdown.

Ridge: I’m trying to get through to him, but he’s not listening. I don’t know. There’s something going on with him. It’s almost like something is pushing him to create this line all by himself.

Donna: You knew about this?

Eric: Yeah, yeah. The good news is though that you’ve been able to cross off some of the scarier things from the list, is that right?

Colby: That’s right.

Donna: What’s scarier than cerebrovascular disease? What? Is that– is that neurological?

Colby: To be clear, I don’t have an official diagnosis yet. We need more testing. Make sure that we’re not missing anything else. I just wanted to be up front and honest with you.

Donna: Okay, I’m just hoping it’s arthritis or carpal tunnel or–

Eric: Yeah, me too, actually, but– but the, uh, doctor, the tremors are getting worse.

Colby: How so?

Eric: I was able, not too long ago, to actually pick up a pencil and hold it for a while before it started hurting and play piano with both hands, but now, I mean, this morning, in the office, I couldn’t even hold a pen to sign a contract.

Donna: Dr. Colby, please, um, as soon as you get any more results– actually, you know, why can’t we do further testing now?

Colby: It’s a process, but I assure you, my office will be in touch with the next set of tests.

Donna: No, no. Dr. Colby, I–

Eric: No, no, Donna. It’s okay, it’s okay. Uh, thank you, Doctor. I appreciate you– I appreciate you coming to the house and your discretion here. We’ll be in touch very soon. Thanks– thanks for coming.

Donna: Eric.

[ Donna sobbing ]

Luna: You know, we should really get back to Eric’s.

RJ: What? Wait a minute. Hold on, hold on. Come on. You can’t get off that easy. Plus, he’s– he’s– he’s got a– he’s got a meeting or something. Come on. I wanna hear about the mysterious Luna. Where are you from? I don’t even know where you’re from.

Luna: Okay, okay. Um, I’m from Northern California.

RJ: Okay.

Luna: The Bay Area. Um, my mom had me when she was really young, so it’s always been just the two of us and we’re like artistic free spirits.

RJ: Oh.

Luna: My grandfather and aunt are very driven. They’re very different from us. My mom’s kinda a hippie, so we’d save up all our money and splurge to go to, like, music festivals and art shows and pop up restaurants.

RJ: Well, she sounds like a really cool mom.

Luna: She is. Yeah. Um, clearly, my life is very different from yours. It’s much more modest. Yeah, I mean, we didn’t have much, but my mom always made sure I knew she loved me. And that is enough about me. My life is pretty boring compared to yours, RJ.

RJ: Boring? No. Not at all. Are you kidding me? I have so many questions. You’re even more fascinating now.

Donna: Why didn’t you tell me this?

Eric: I didn’t want to worry you.

Donna: But you– you were hiding the truth from me, Eric.

Eric: No, I– I– I didn’t want to hurt you. I’m sorry. I didn’t want to hurt you, truly.

Donna: I’m a big girl. I can handle this, okay? But not if I don’t know what’s going on with you. Eric, we’re partners, lovers. I mean, you– you mean more to me than I can even put into words. But you have to tell me what’s going on with you so I– so I can help you.

Eric: How are you gonna– how are you gonna help me play “Claire de Lune” on the piano? You gonna help me draw a flounced wrap-over? That’s the kind of help I need.

Donna: I can love you. I can hold you. I can look you in the eyes and– and tell you that you’re not going through this alone. My god, you shouldn’t have to suffer through this alone. I would certainly want that if I were in your position. I thought that you wanted that for me too.

Eric: Donna, I’m sorry.

Donna: I don’t want an apology. I want you to open up to me. I want you to share with me. I want you to realize that I’m your person. Like, what was I just saying to you earlier? That we’re gonna fight this. We’re gonna fight this together. No more secrets, okay? God, this is so unfair. I mean, you’re– I mean, you’re an artist. You’re a world renowned designer. To have your gift taken away like this, it’s– it’s– it’s a crime. We’re gonna fight this, okay? Once we find out what this is, we are gonna get the best doctors, the best therapy, the best medicine. I won’t let my honey bear lose who he is. I won’t.

Eric: All right.

Donna: Eric… I know you’re so strong and you’re so proud and you’re so proud, but if we’re being honest, I have to tell you, I’m really getting scared. Please. Please, Eric, I think it’s really time. It’s time. Time to tell Ridge. Please. The whole family.

Luna: I can’t thank you enough.

RJ: Why? For what?

Luna: I don’t know. Just being so welcoming. Letting me be a part of the inner circle, even as an intern.

RJ: Well, you know, wait until the initiation.

Luna: Oh, stop.

RJ: I’m kidding.

Luna: No, I just– I think you’re super special. I mean, I could tell how amazing you were just by following you online, but meeting you in person, seeing the way you are with your grandfather, it just– all I know is that when your dad finds out why you’ve been helping your grandfather, he’s just gonna love and respect you even more. I’m serious, RJ. I mean, you’re an incredibly special person. You’re kind and talented, generous and very handsome.

Brooke: Oh, I hate to see you worry so much. I have an idea. Why don’t we play hooky for the rest of the day, okay?

Ridge: Huh?

Brooke: Yeah. We could do something, breathe inspiration back into you.

Ridge: What were you thinking?

Brooke: I don’t know. Let’s go to the beach. Take a walk, maybe have lunch on the pier. Go to the spa. You know I always have standing reservations. No? Okay. I know. I’ve got keys to a big empty house with a big empty bed.

Ridge: See, now you’re making sense. I appreciate what you’re trying to do. I just– I– I can’t shake this concern I have for my dad. What is he doing? A whole collection by himself? Why now? Why?

Eric: Donna, we don’t have to get into this now.

Donna: Actually, I think we do. I really think it’s time that you reconsider and tell Ridge and the whole family. You need all the love and support that you can get.

Eric: No, no, no, no. That’s the last thing I want, Donna. I wanna do this alone. I wanna do this my way. Look, I’m a designer. The whole world knows it. And when I finish with this competition, I’m gonna be the best designer. It’ll prove it to Ridge once and for all.

Donna: You don’t need to prove anything else, Eric. You’ve already done that. Look, I– I went along with your wishes, but things have changed. I say we just end this stupid competition and tell them what’s going on. You’re sick, Eric. You’re sick. And– and now, you’re playing games with your son.

Eric: No, no. This is not a game. I’m sorry, honey. It’s not a game, Donna. It’s a very serious competition between Ridge and me. We’re going head-to-head, winner take all. This is gonna be my finest collection. My final line, my last line.

Donna: But if you do this, it could be your final line.

Eric: That’s even more reason for me to do this, isn’t it? Run this company from behind that desk? Don’t tell Ridge, don’t tell anyone, don’t tell your sisters. I don’t want anyone to know. I wanna do it my way. Look, I– I built this company with– with these two hands. I used to be able to thread a needle with this. I did all of it by hand and I can take this company back. I can run Forrester Creations from that desk again and I’m gonna do it, you’ll see. And Ridge, Ridge will see who gets the most orders. There’s only one master here and it’s me. It’s Eric Forrester.

Donna: Yeah.

Eric: Okay.

Ridge: I don’t know what my dad needs from me, I really don’t, but I know what he wants. He wants this competition. Maybe, I’ll just have to beat him and that’ll be the end of it.

[ Donna sighing ]

Donna: Okay, I’m gonna make us more tea, okay?

Eric: Wonderful.

Donna: I love you so much, honey bear.

Eric: I love you too.

Donna: Be right back.

Eric: Okay.

Recap written by Suzanne

Taylor drops by Forrester to see Ridge and Brooke before leaving town again. They discuss the kids again for a minute. Ridge promises to let Taylor know if anything further happens with Thomas. Later, Ridge complains again to Brooke about Eric insisting on doing his grand finale collection.

Eric is at Forrester with Luna and RJ, talking about his designs. When she asks him to sign something for Carter, he
has trouble holding the pen, so he gets annoyed at yells that he’s Eric Forrester (meaning that he doesn’t have to sign it). Then he leaves. RJ is upset and apologizes to Luna. He explains to her that he thinks something more is wrong with Eric than just arthritis. He wishes he could tell his dad about it. He also confides to her that he never wanted to be in the family business. Luna is impressed by how devoted he is to his grandfather.

Katie drops by the Forrester house to visit Donna. She admires Eric’s designs but wonders if they’re enough to beat Ridge’s. Donna remarks that Eric acts like his life depends on the collection, which strikes Katie as odd. Eric returns home, so Katie leaves. Donna can tell that Eric is upset, so he explains about what happened at the office. Eric’s doctor visits to tell him about his condition.

Brooke: Oh, really? [ Brooke chuckling ] Well, that’s very exciting. Can’t wait. No, I love reading your articles, really. Can’t wait to see it. Okay. Ciao. [ Brooke sighing ]

Taylor: Hey. So, uh, we never really got to finish that conversation yesterday.

Brooke: Uh, no, because you ran out of here so fast and I had plans. I had to be home with Ridge.

Eric: Parisian lace. There’s nothing else in the world like it.

Luna: Yeah, I’ve never seen so many options up close.

RJ: It’s really intricate and delicate.

Eric: Yeah. Each one feels different to the touch, each one tells a– tells a different story. All right, none of these will do.

RJ: What? Are you serious?

Eric: Not what I’m looking for.

RJ: Okay. I’ll let Pierre know we need more options to source, I guess.

Eric: Yeah, good. Luna, tell Sophie to get all this stuff out of here and get it to the house immediately, as soon as possible before we run out of time.

Katie: Are you sure it’s okay that I’m here?

Donna: At your sister’s house? Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s okay.

Katie: Well, I mean, behind the curtain at Eric’s secret design studio.

Donna: Oh, secret? No. No, see Brooke ruined the secret when she came in unannounced.

Katie: Well, the designs are beautiful.

Donna: Yeah.

Katie: Are they enough to beat Ridge and his Couture collection? How worried are you that Eric is gonna lose to his son at the fashion challenge?

Donna: This collection is so important to Eric, it’s– it’s like his life depends on it.

Donna: Look, we– we don’t really have to get into all this.

Katie: Well, we’ve all heard Eric call this his grand finale, but to say that his life depends on its success seems a little dramatic, don’t you think?

Eric: All right, that’s it. That was a good session, I would say. We’ll pick up back at the house, um, there we are. Oh, uh, any word on the feathers for that black bodice?

RJ: Yeah, I’m working on it. Hey, what are you looking for?

Eric: My rolodex. It has the number for some vendors.

RJ: Well, Luna, she can search the company contacts. She’ll find them.

Eric: Okay, cool, thanks. Yeah, that’d be good.

Luna: Oh, actually, Carter gave me a bunch of things that you need your signature.

Eric: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Carter always wants me to sign something, right? Yeah, I can’t, um, here, take it, take it. Just take it. I don’t need to sign anything here. It’s Forrester Creations. I’m Eric Forrester!

RJ: I’m so sorry. That was not you. Hey, I… can I tell you something, but you have to promise you’re just gonna keep it between us?

Luna: Yeah, absolutely.

RJ: My granddad is not himself lately because… he’s compromised and the only people who know about it are Donna and me.

Taylor: Were you just trying to send me a message, you know? ‘Cause it felt like it. That you and Ridge are together now.

Brooke: No, I’m just saying if you came back here in this office to look for me and I wasn’t here, it’s because Ridge and I had plans. We went home.

Taylor: Oh, okay.

Brooke: Look, I don’t want to fight with you, Taylor. About Ridge, about our children. I mean, I feel like we’re on the same page about not wanting Thomas and Hope to be involved.

Taylor: Yeah, well, I– I didn’t come here to fight. But I am looking for Ridge.

Ridge: Hey! I’m here. Hi.

Taylor: Hi. Hi, I– I thought I missed you.

Ridge: No, I was with– with my trainer, obviously.

Taylor: Oh, your trainer. I thought you were looking a little, you know. Anyway, I just– I– I came by to catch you up on Steffy and the kids a little bit more.

Ridge: Well, thank you. I’m so glad you were there to help Steffy get set up and– and now I’m glad you’re back.

Taylor: Thank you. Yeah, it’s good to be back, you know. I had to see patients and make sure I talk to Finn.

Ridge: Yeah.

Taylor: And, um, you know, most importantly, uh, talk to Thomas. You know, I was– I was pretty upset with you yesterday, finding out about Hope and Thomas.

Ridge: I know. I’m sorry. I’ll keep an eye on him. But he’s put the work in. He’s not backsliding. And he’s been talking to this world-renowned psychiatrist and he’s got some loved ones in his corner, so take that off your plate. But Steffy, we gotta worry about her with Sheila running around.

Taylor: Yeah. I– I think we can be vigilant about both situations, yeah? But as for Thomas, you know, if–

Ridge: I will tell you if anything happens. Anything you need to know, I will let you know. Promise.

Taylor: Thank you. Okay, we’re good. All right, I am gonna let you two get at it. Get… um, with, uh… get back to work.

Ridge: I’ll see ya.

Taylor: I’m leaving. Goodbye.

RJ: Thank you so much, Sophie.

Sophie: Yeah, no problem.

RJ: Okay. Let’s make sure everything is here that Granddad wants.

Luna: So no one else knows about your grandfather? Not even your dad?

RJ: No. Especially not him. It’s this big, big secret and my granddad’s adamant that nobody else finds out.

Luna: So, why’d you tell me?

RJ: Because, I don’t know. You’re very caring. Dare I say, trustworthy.

Luna: Mm-hmm.

RJ: And you know, you’re part of the team.

Luna: Uh, yeah. Team Eric all the way.

RJ: Well, there you go. Why not?

Luna: If you don’t mind me asking though, what exactly is going on with your grandfather?

RJ: He says that it’s arthritis.

Luna: But you think it could be something more serious?

Donna: Doesn’t every artist deserve an encore?

Katie: An encore, yes, but not necessarily a curtain call. Eric is a vibrant vital man. He has so much life and creativity left inside of him.

Donna: He’s one of a kind. That’s for sure.

Katie: That’s why I don’t know why he keeps insisting that this is the end.

Eric: Donna’s right. This is– this is gonna be my final collection. And it’s gonna be on my terms. Thank you.

Brooke: Quite a surprise seeing Taylor.

Ridge: Yeah, it was. I called Steffy to see what was going on and I said maybe I should go over and she said, “no, stay here.” Hold down the fort and do work on my collection.

Brooke: Especially now that you and your father are facing off.

Ridge: Yeah, this whole competition part of it, I’m not– I don’t want that. I don’t want to be at odds with my dad. There’s something going on with him.

Donna: I, um, didn’t hear you come in, honey bear.

Eric: I’m, uh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to– I didn’t mean to interrupt.

Katie: Oh, please. You’re not interrupting. This is your home. I hope you excuse my intrusion. I have to admit, I gave myself a little sneak peek. Everything looks wonderful, although I’m hardly surprised. You’ve proven yourself over and over again.

Eric: Yes, well, Ridge and your sister, Brooke, seem to think that I should relax. Begin to step aside and let the younger generation take over.

Katie: Well, lucky for you, I would never insinuate that you retire.

Eric: Thank you. You’ve always been my favorite brunette Logan sister.

[ Katie laughing ]

Katie: Listen, if you step away, that is your decision and yours alone. However, I will tell you the company is doing really well. You should be very proud of Ridge and Steffy and Thomas and Zende.

Eric: Make no mistake, I’m extremely proud of all of them. I really am, but I’m determined to do this line on my own terms.

Donna: Um, sweetie, well, while it was– it was great to see you, but now that Eric is home–

Katie: Oh, yes, of course. I’ll skedaddle.

Donna: Thank you.

Katie: I love you so much.

Donna: I love you.

Katie: And I’ll keep all of this top secret, but I have to say, it’s fabulous.

Eric: Thank you.

Katie: All right.

Donna: Okay. Um, I’ll call you later, okay?

Katie: Thank you. Bye.

Donna: Bye. How are you doing? Let me see. It looks like the tremors stopped right?

[ Eric sighing ]

Donna: Just… just rest it, okay? What’s going on? You seem really worked up.

Eric: Yeah, well, something happened at the office. Um, something with the new– the new intern, Luna.

Luna: It’s sweet how concerned you are about your grandfather. I mean, you’re a good guy to care so much. You seem pretty upset about it.

RJ: I am. I mean, he’s– well, a couple times, he’s said that it’s arthritis and then, he’s also said that it’s carpel tunnel syndrome, so I don’t even know, like.

Luna: So, are you afraid it’s something more or he could be covering?

RJ: I don’t know, I hope not. That’d be awful. I mean, well, I know the whole reason he wants to do this collection is because of this and you know, the whole reason why I’m sketching the whole thing is because of this and… he really believes its his last and I’ve seen his hands. They’re getting more shaky and trembly and I can see it. His condition’s gotten worse. I just– I know that if I told my dad, he would understand. Like, immediately. He’d understand. He’d give him his office back, he’d step aside.

Luna: Okay, so– so why don’t you tell him? I mean, wouldn’t your dad want to know about this?

RJ: Yeah! Well, that’s– that’s what’s so tough about this and why I’m… I’m sorry. Thank you for talking to me about this. It’s really nice to actually tell someone about all of this.

Luna: Of course. I’m happy to listen.

RJ: I just know that my parents would want to know, but my granddad made me promise not to say anything.

Luna: I know you’ll figure out what to do, okay? And I’m here to listen, if you want, and I promise I won’t say anything to anyone.

RJ: Hey, I’m gonna tell you another secret. I– I didn’t even want to join the family business. I didn’t even want to be a designer.

Luna: So, you’re doing all of this just for your grandfather?

RJ: It’s been so hard for him. Like… he doesn’t even come in anymore really because he feels like the CEO office is his and my dad is in there all the time.

Luna: So, that’s why Eric stays at home with you by his side.

RJ: I can help him, you know? I’ve been helping him get all his designs on paper.

Luna: I haven’t met a lot of guys like you. It’s touching. I mean, the way you’re so committed and devoted to your grandfather, I can see how much he appreciates it. He’s really lucky to have you as a grandson, RJ. I mean, so much social media is bogus, right? I mean, people only post their best moments or totally fake ones, but following you, I could always tell how genuine you are. You’re a really special guy.

Ridge: Okay, but let me ask you this. The Met last year. Remember the one with the crazy hair, the singer? Yes? Who was she wearing?

Brooke: A Forrester.

Ridge: Who designed it?

Brooke: Eric Forrester.

Ridge: Eric Forrester. Cannes last year. Three dresses in the same place. Designed by?

Brooke: Eric Forrester.

Ridge: Eric Forrester. Here’s my point. He has created things that– these women didn’t come to us and ask for things. We didn’t ask them to wear them. These are things that my dad created because he has woven his name into the fabric of society. Walls fall and his gowns stand and that’s where we are, right? This is– this is what he does. So, I’m confused. Why now you wanna do one more line? What does he have to prove to anybody? He’s drowning the company and he knows he is, but he still wants to do this. So my question is why not work with me? That makes fiscal sense. But he doesn’t want to do that. This is his collection by himself and I’m confused by it. Thoughts?

[ Brooke sighing ]

Donna: So something happened with Luna at the office.

Eric: Yeah, that poor girl. I feel so bad. She’s gonna think I’m some kind of monster, some ogre. Some egomaniac.

Donna: Okay, nobody could ever think that about you. What– what in the world are you talking about?

Eric: She had some contracts for me to sign and she handed it to me and she handed me a pen and I couldn’t hang on to it and it made me angry and I yelled at her. I said, “I don’t have to sign anything. I’m Eric Forrester!” And she probably thinks I’m some crazy– I feel terrible. I feel terrible.

Donna: Okay, this is bad enough that you have to go through this, but the fact that you have to hide it from everyone.

Eric: Well, what’s going on? What’s going on with me?

Donna: Okay. Listen, your doctor is gonna be here any minute and I’m– I’m sure that we can finally get some answers.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Okay?

Eric: Yeah, about what’s going on with me, what’s really going on with me?

Donna: It’s nothing that we can’t face, okay? You are– you are the strongest, most passionate man I know. I mean, look– look at everything you’ve created, Eric. Professionally, artistically. I mean, your positivity is– it’s contagious, you know? You’ve instilled it in your family. You have generations of children and grandchildren who wanna continue your legacy, and they love you so much, and none more than me. Eric, you’ve– you’ve given me some of– no, you’ve given me the best years of my life. You’ve filled me with happiness and laughter, and most importantly, love. I can never thank you enough for loving me the way that you do, so whatever this– this little hiccup is? We’re gonna get through it together.

Eric: Yeah.

[ Knocking on door ]

Donna: We can do this, okay? Dr. Colby, thank you so much for coming. I really appreciate it.

Colby: Of course.

Donna: Please, come in.

Eric: Thank you, doctor.

Colby: It’s my pleasure.

Eric: I appreciate very much your discretion in this matter.

Colby: Understood.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Doctor, please, um, can you tell us what’s going on with Eric?

Eric: What have you found? What have the test results come up with? What’s wrong with me, Doctor?

Recap written by Suzanne

Sheila refuses Deacon’s marriage proposal, saying he has too much to lose, and she’s bad (i.e. not good enough for him). He just wants to go with his feelings instead of being rational. They argue about whether Sheila should say yes or not. He refuses to live without her, despite the fact that he might lose Hope, so Sheila finally agrees to marry him.

Hope, Thorne and Brooke discuss the fact that Taylor came into the design office and found Hope and Thomas kissing, so she knows all about their relationship. Ridge wonders if Hope is just stringing Thomas along, but Hope and Brooke assure him that she’s not.

Thomas tells his mom that he’s an adult that can handle his own love life. He does tell her that he figures, eventually, Hope will fall in love with him. Taylor tells Hope that if she doesn’t feel for Thomas the same way he does, then she should break up with him now. Hope explains her feelings and relationships to Taylor, but she leaves Taylor feeling upset after she suggests that maybe she’s more like Brooke than she thought. Taylor tells Brooke about that last part, so Brooke looks shocked.

Taylor: You know, after everything that’s happened, can you even believe that anyone has to warn finn about sheila? Look, I’m gonna stay on top of it. Make sure that he doesn’t do anything to put our daughter or our grandchildren in danger, again.

Brooke: We’re all on the same page when it comes to sheila.

Taylor: The crazy thing is, I could– I could see how finn is struggling with his feelings towards sheila. Like, he doesn’t see it. She knows exactly what she’s doing.

Ridge: He’s being played by that woman. How does he not see that?

Brooke: She’s not capable of loving anybody, only herself.

Taylor: Every single move that sheila has ever made has been for sheila. Her sociopathic behavior just proves what a monster she is. She’s incapable of love or being loved by anyone.

Sheila: Thank you.

Deacon: Yeah.

Sheila: You know, in– in prison, I-I really convinced myself that no one was coming to help. I was at the end of my line, and I-I ruined any chance I ever had a joy in my life. And then all of a sudden you showed up, gave me hope. I just, I get this feeling that at any moment it could just be taken away. You could ruin your relationship with your daughter just by being with me.

Deacon: Sheila, don’t– don’t do that.

Sheila: No, I am– I am just stating facts. Me in your life, it could destroy your relationship with hope.

Thomas: Um, I’m stuck.

Hope: Oh, yeah?

Thomas: Yeah. I feel like I could use some late-night inspiration.

Taylor: You know, I also came back to check on thomas. I think something’s going on with him. Every single time I call him, he can’t get off the phone fast enough. He’s like, “mom, I gotta go. I’m busy.”

Ridge: Yeah. He’s, uh, he’s busy with work and other stuff.

Brooke: Ridge.

Taylor: What do you mean? I– oh, I-I know about the kiss in rome. I-I-I know that. I– but hope admitted that she crossed a line and that’s good. It seems like they– they moved…. what– what is going on?

Ridge: Um, hope and thomas, their relationship has advanced.

Taylor: Advanced? I– what do you mean?

Brooke: Uh, hope and thomas are sleeping together.

Thomas: All this work. Can’t get too stressed, right? Gonna take some breaks from time to time.

Hope: Mm. Thomas.

Thomas: Yeah.

Hope: I just, um, I want to make sure we’re still on the same page. Dinner didn’t change anything.

Thomas: Of course you’re not at the exact same place I am. That doesn’t mean that I don’t still love you and only you.

Deacon: Voila. All your favorites. Hope I got everything.

Sheila: Oh.

[ Laughs ] Champagne and– and licorice. Oh, you thought of everything. I can’t believe that you did all this for me.

Deacon: I want tonight to be unforgettable. I just wanna just focus on the moment, but I wanna discuss where we go from here and all the amazing possibilities.

[ Sheila chuckles nervously ] Hi. I use febreze fade defy plug.

Taylor: Thomas was doing so good. He was– he was just– he was just focused on work. He was being a great dad to douglas. He was keeping his feelings for hope in check. And now he–

Ridge: You know none of us want him to spiral outta control the way he did before, right?

Taylor: Then why didn’t you tell me? I don’t think either of you comprehend what this could do to thomas.

Brooke: I tried talking sense into my daughter. I did, taylor. But both of our children have very strong convictions, and if we push too hard, it could make matters worse.

Ridge: These are two consenting adults. We can’t tell ’em what to do. We just gotta see how it plays out.

Taylor: Plays out? Do you think this is a game? Thomas has been working so hard to get himself healthy mentally. It could put him right back to where he was before. And that is a very dark and dangerous place inside his mind with no way out. I need to talk to thomas.

Deacon: So what are you craving?

Sheila: Oh, that’s a loaded question.

Deacon: Food, sheila. Food. Let me give you a hands-on experience of my culinary prowess. What would you say to, um, ooh, ravioli stuffed with pumpkin, fresh pumpkin, just a hint of nutmeg, hand-rolled dough?

Sheila: Just keep– keep talking.

Deacon: Yeah? Maybe, uh, I don’t know, a filet with burgundy sauce. Or maybe you want something a little more exotic. You know, when a meal’s made with love, you can taste it. Let me show you.

Sheila: No, don’t you– don’t you dare leave my side.

Deacon: Okay.

Thomas: I understand where you are emotionally. That you just got out of a marriage and that’s fresh. But I also really love spending time with you. And I especially love when we’re, uh, intimate.

Hope: Oh, yeah?

Thomas: Yeah.

[ Door opens ]

Taylor: Oh, okay. Um, I am– I’m sorry to interrupt, but I’m kinda glad I did. When my doctor gave me breztri for my copd getting this? Water doesn’t have to be boring. With over 40 delicious flavors, cirkul starts a party for your tastebuds. No sugar, no calories and no artificial flavors. Just good times. Try cirkul, available now at walmart. Ok, someone just did laundry…

Ridge: Well, that’s the last thing that taylor needs right now. She’s all stressed about steffy and the kids and setting them up. And now she’s gotta be concerned about thomas and hope. I should’ve told her earlier. I should’ve.

Brooke: Ridge, you have nothing to feel bad about. You were just trying to keep taylor from worrying.

Ridge: She’s worried now.

Brooke: I just don’t want taylor blaming my daughter for any of this.

Thomas: Hey, mom! What’s up?

Taylor: [ Laughs ] It’s not, “hi, babe. What’s new?”

[ Chuckles ]

Thomas: Um, I– well–

[ Chuckles nervously ] I can totally explain.

Taylor: No. It’s okay. You don’t– I think I’m all caught up. I just talked to ridge and brooke and they– they told me about this. And I– hope, can I have a second, please?

Hope: Yeah. Sure. Of course.

Thomas: Okay. I do only have a minute ’cause I do have a deadline to–

Taylor: Okay. No, you are not shutting me out anymore, thomas. Look, I know that you’re gonna make your own decision on this.

Thomas: I am.

Taylor: I know. But– but as– as your mom, um, I also know how much emotional turmoil that you have been through, and I am concerned that that might happen again. I know that you have deep feelings for hope. And I don’t know, maybe those feelings aren’t going to be reciprocated the way that– that you’d like them to. I just hate for hope to take advantage of your feelings for her.

[ Laughs ]

Sheila: We have had some interesting times together.

Deacon: Hmm. You know, of all the adventures, for lack of a better word, I would have to say that you showing up back from the dead, probably the top of the list.

Sheila: You never gave up on me even when I gave up on myself. I have never met anybody like you, deacon. And I’m so grateful for everything that you’ve done for me. That’s why it’s gonna be so difficult to say goodbye.

Deacon: Sheila, how many times have we said goodbye before only to have fate put us together again? And here we are, together again. Clearly, our story isn’t over yet. And I’m not willing to believe that it ever will be. And I think maybe it’s time that you start believing the same. The subway series menu is getting a new lineup

Ridge: Taylor isn’t blaming anyone. She’s just concerned about our boy. And maybe she should be. At least now everything’s out in the open.

Hope: Well…

[ Clears throat ] …Someone else knows now.

Brooke: What? What happened?

Hope: Taylor. She just walked in on thomas and me in each other’s arms.

Thomas: I do appreciate your concern.

Taylor: Mm-hmm.

Thomas: But it’s not necessary.

Taylor: Okay. So whatever is happening with hope right now, do you think that maybe it might be erasing all the trauma that happened with her in the past?

Thomas: Mom, honestly, I, uh… [ Chuckles ] I’m good. And I’m very happy right now.

Taylor: Right now. Yes, you are. Your life is– is going really well, thomas. And you did that. You did it. And then hope kissed you in rome. And then all of this is happening, and now you’re kind of back to this precarious place where you were before. And–

Thomas: Okay. I-I see that you are seeing a situation that could lead to a situation like before but I promise, mom, everything’s under control.

Taylor: What happens if things don’t work out? Do you think you can handle that?

Thomas: Yeah. Look, it would– it would be painful, sure. But hope and I, we do have an agreement.

Taylor: And who made the terms of the– that agreement? You? Hope. Yeah. You know something, back in the day, you know, I-I didn’t wanna see the covert manipulations that– that brooke was doing to ridge and me until it was too late. And I’m just wondering if– if– if hope isn’t more like her mother than you realize. And if she is, then the only person that’s gonna get hurt in this situation is you. So can you maybe learn from my epic life fails, please? ‘Cause otherwise you might also wake up one day and find yourself alone and beat yourself up for being so sure that you had it all under control.

Sheila: When we’re alone like this it’s like nothing else in the world matters.

Deacon: That’s the goal.

Sheila: [ Sighs ] I just wanna– I wanna savor every second of my time with you. ‘Cause it’s moments like this that– that get me through the days that we’re apart. I know how much you truly care about me. And it– it took me a long time to trust that. But I do now. And I’m– I’m so grateful every day that we found each other.

Deacon: Me too.

Sheila: But I–

Deacon: No, don’t– don’t do that.

Sheila: But reality is right outside that door. And I care too much about you to– to have you ruin your relationship with hope. And– and this restaurant, you have worked so hard for this place. You stand to lose everything if you stay with me, deacon.

Deacon: Sheila, I’m a big boy. I make my own decisions. When I fought for you with the judge to keep you from spending the rest of your life behind bars, I knew it was risky. I didn’t care. All I could think about was you. That’s all that mattered.

Sheila: And now– now what?

Deacon: You know, when you came into my life, you turned it upside down. But it made me realize how alone I was before I met you.

Sheila: I felt the same way.

Deacon: You know, being with you is exciting and dangerous and passionate. And yeah, it’s crazy. But I can’t get enough.

Sheila: [ Laughs ] It has been a wild ride.

Deacon: It’s a ride that I don’t wanna get off of.

Sheila: And you, uh, what– what are you doing, deacon?

Deacon: Sheila, I’ve never met anyone like you in my entire life, and I’m absolutely sure I’m never gonna meet anyone like you again. I’m nuts about you from the top of your head, down to the bottom of your however many toes you have left. I never wanna be apart from you again. Look, I know that this is risky. It’s a gamble, but anything worth fighting for is, and I’ve always been a gambling man, and so this time, I’m gambling on love because sheila, I do love you. So, sheila carter, will you make me the happiest and probably the craziest man in los angeles? Say yes. Marry me. Say you’ll be my wife.

[ Relaxing music ]

Finn: Thanks, by the way, for going all the way over there and helping steffy and the kids get settled.

Taylor: Of course, that’s what moms do to keep their kids safe. That’s what steffy is doing right now. You know, this can’t go on, finn, right?

Finn: Oh, I realize that. I mean, all I want is for them to be home with me. Safe and healthy.

Taylor: Yeah. Well, they– they wanna come home, but steffy knows that they are safer in europe because sheila is nowhere around them. You’re dangerously close to losing steffy. Do you understand that? So, you need to do whatever you can to get sheila carter out of your life.

Deacon: Don’t go.

Sheila: Deacon, don’T.

Deacon: Stay. Even if it’s just for a little bit longer.

Sheila: What are you saying?

Brooke: Who are you texting?

Ridge: Steffy. Just checking on her.

Brooke: Oh, you miss her.

Ridge: I do. Of course, I miss her. Miss her every day. And I know why she’s gone. I get it. Strong, amazing woman, you know. But– but to me, she’s always gonna be my little girl and I wanna protect her. I wanna make sure that she’s okay. That her kids are okay. I want them to grow up looking at me the way that my kids looked at my dad. I can’t do that now because she’s 6,000 plus miles away. We all know why.

Brooke: I’m sorry. I know that you’ve been worried about steffy, kelly, and hayes now that sheila is on the loose again.

Ridge: Yeah, it’s not right. This is not what it should be. She should be home with us, with her family. Finn– I want to respect finn, ’cause I always thought he’d be a good match for her, you know. Because he sees her as the smart, intelligent, strong woman that she is and he lets her be. But this connection he has with– with his mom, I just– I don’t understand it.

Taylor: You know, I– I understand how– how you could feel bonded to sheila because she’s your birth mother, but the thing that’s confusing to everybody is why would you encourage that bond after she almost killed you and steffy? As long as sheila thinks that– that you love her or that you think she’s your mother… she’s never getting out of your life.

Deacon: Stay.

Sheila: Deacon, please, if you don’t mean it–

Deacon: I do. Don’t go. I don’t want to be alone. We’re traveling all across america

Brooke: Ridge, I’m not sure it’s fair to blame finn for sheila’s presence in our lives. Besides, he didn’t ask for her to be his birth mother.

Ridge: That’s not the point. The point is he’s gotta be a little bit more decisive as to what his feelings are for her. Because right now he’s making her feel like they could have a relationship. Like she could have a relationship with hayes.

Brooke: Well, now he’s made it very clear that he wants nothing to do with sheila.

Ridge: I’m so sorry. I’m– I’m sorry, how did he make that clear, really? By hugging her outside the judge’s chamber, by– by having her just, um, appear at the beach? She went to steffy’s house, uninvited. She was there. No wonder steffy left. He can’t protect her.

Brooke: Well, thank god she has a father that loves her so much that he will be there to take care of her.

Ridge: Well, the only way this father can protect her is something that carries a pretty long jail sentence. That’s up to finn.

Finn: You’re not wrong, taylor. I don’t know why I felt a connection to sheila. I mean, sheila’s done horrible things to me, to my family. I mean, she almost caused kelly and hayes to lose both their parents. I mean, I never should have given her any hope that we could have a relationship. I don’t– I– I just– I made a mistake and it doesn’t matter that she’s my birth mother, I should have drawn a line from the very beginning.

Taylor: Listen, I– I understand why you didn’t draw a line at the very beginning, but now you need to, okay? It’s time. Because steffy misses you.

Finn: Well, I miss them, too. I mean, taylor, they’re my entire life.

Taylor: Then fight for them. I mean, really fight for them. I don’t care what you have to do, finn. It doesn’t matter, just get sheila out of your life.

Sheila: I– I’ve got to admit my head is spinning right now. I– there– there’s been so much that’s happened today.

Deacon: It’s always been an adventure with us, right?

Sheila: [ Laughs ] Yes, that’s– that’s very true. But it’s not every day a girl discovers that she’s got a guardian angel.

Deacon: That’s definitely the first time anyone’s ever called me that.

Sheila: Well, that’s exactly what you are. You gave me back my freedom, my life.

Deacon: I helped a little.

Sheila: No, you helped more than a little.

Deacon: Come on. Spencer bungled the investigation. I bent the judge’s ear. I didn’t rewrite the law.

Sheila: Only you cared. You cared enough to go to bat for me and– and that’s worth everything. I have never– I’ve never had anyone care about me like that.

Deacon: Listen, I know what it’s like to make mistakes, sheila. That’s all. You know, I– I felt so alone that I didn’t know if I was gonna make it through the night. I think you can relate to that. You know, you felt those things, right?

Sheila: Yeah. Yeah. You know, I have.

Deacon: I mean, you and me, it’s like we’ve always been the underdogs. You know, the misfits, the convicts, you know. We’ve had to work twice as hard as everybody else just to get a chance to move ahead. We don’t get a chance to win too often. But you know what? It doesn’t have to be like that. We can write our own story. A better one. Right here, right now. Why give your family just any eggs

Finn: You leaving?

Taylor: Uh, yeah. Yeah, I’m gonna go check in with ridge. Fill him in on steffy and the kids.

Finn: Hey, I want you to know. I– I heard every word and you’re right. I promise you, I will find a way to cut sheila out of my life.

Taylor: Don’t promise me, finn, you know. Promise– promise your wife and your son.

Finn: Yeah, no, I will. And, um, thanks. Thanks for caring enough about steffy and me to come over here.

Taylor: Of course. I know you love her so much and she loves you, too.

Finn: She can have faith in me. Can you tell her that? Would you let her know how much I love her and how hard I’m fighting to get her, kelly, and hayes home?

Taylor: Yeah. Yeah, I’ll tell her but you have to start fighting. Like, really fighting. Look, finn, I know that you have talked to sheila before and it’s kind of gotten you nowhere ’cause she’s still in your life.

Finn: Yeah.

Taylor: But you have to let her know under no uncertain terms that– that she is not allowed in your life anymore or your children’s lives. You– you can’t let her back in. Look… she’s a monster, finn. You know that, I know that. Everybody knows that. She’s gonna use whatever she can to– to manipulate you, with sympathy. The minute that you show weakness around sheila carter is the minute she wins. I know that. I know that from experience. You fight for this, finn. You have to be strong because she– she gets power out of getting into people’s minds, manipulating. And the minute that she does that, you… you will lose everything. Do you understand what I’m saying?

Finn: I understand.

Taylor: Okay, good. So you need to make sure that… she knows that she is not welcome. And she is not allowed in your life. And that… that is how you fight, finn. Make her go away. Not just temporary. Make her go away for good.

Deacon: Yeah, just like that. Okay. No, that sounds– that sounds perfect. Okay. All right. Thank you.

[ Deacon chuckles ]

Sheila: What was that about?

Deacon: I just had to, uh, you know, make a few arrangements.

Sheila: Oh, for us?

Deacon: Well, you know, you’re the queen of surprises. I figured what the hell? I’ll try my hand at it.

Sheila: I don’t really love surprises. They– they don’t usually work out well for me.

Deacon: Think you’re gonna like this one. As a matter of fact, I’m sure you’re gonna like this one. What’s the matter? You don’t trust me?

Sheila: Oh, you know I do, daddy.

Deacon: That’s my girl. All right. So, uh, you know, I think you deserve something special. Hell, I think I deserve something special. So, come on. Let’s go.

Brooke: You know what I think we need?

Ridge: I have everything I need right here in my arms.

Brooke: Well, I think we need to step it up a notch. Do something we haven’t done in a while.

Ridge: Really?

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Ridge: Now, I’m curious.

Brooke: Well, we could go home, get in the bathtub and I will make all your worries melt away.

Ridge: I have no doubt. You have the magic touch.

Brooke: Hm.

[ Brooke moans ]

[ Knocking on door ]

Taylor: Hi.

Ridge: Hey.

Taylor: Hi. Sorry, pam– pam said you were in here working.

Ridge: What are you doing here? I thought you were with steffy in europe. Is everything okay?

Taylor: What? With steffy? Um, you know, yeah. I mean, considering she left her husband and everything she loves.

Brooke: Yeah, it’s been difficult for all of us.

Taylor: Yeah, it really has. You know, you two seem to be doing just fine. Some luxury creams just sit on top of skin.

Ridge: Hey, I– I didn’t know you were coming back. When– when did you get in?

Taylor: Oh, I got in earlier this morning. You know, the– steffy and the kids are– are finally settling in and we got security set up, so, you know, I figured now was a perfect time to come back. I wanted to check on thomas and take care of a few other things.

Ridge: Sure, but how are they doing? Are they okay?

Brooke: Yeah, we’ve been so worried about them.

Taylor: You know, they’re– they’re fine, you know, all things considered. But the upside is that the international school is beautiful and kelly really likes it. And hayes is just, you know, taking everything in. You know, they’ve been uprooted from everything they know and that is hard. Their father not being in their lives. It’s affecting them.

Ridge: It’s– it’s good you were there. [Indistinct] Giving them comfort.

Taylor: You know, I hope so. I really do. You know, steffy– steffy misses finn, and she– she misses her life here. She’s really mad that– that sheila is the reason that she had to leave, you know. Ah, she’s just doing everything she can to make things okay for her and the kids right now. And right now they’re safe in europe.

Ridge: And they will be safe because as long as finn is here, sheila isn’t going anywhere.

Taylor: Oh, you are right about that. Hey, uh, I– I stopped by and talked to finn before I came here.

Brooke: How did he seem?

Taylor: Ah, I… he misses his family, of course, but I told him that– that he has to do everything that he can to make sure that sheila is out of their lives. I mean, sure it’s gonna be hard, but… my god, he just needs to stand up and fight.

Ridge: Because steffy can’t come home until he does.

Taylor: Exactly. And that’s the hard part because as long as sheila believes that finn loves her, she’s not gonna give up. He has to convince her with everything he has that– that she is out of their lives forever. He wants nothing to do with her. That he does not love her. I mean, how could he? Sheila carter is not lovable.

[ Sheila chuckles ]

Deacon: Here we are.

Sheila: Wow. This is beautiful. You did this all for me?

Deacon: I was hoping you’d have dinner with me tonight.

Sheila: Oh, well, I am gonna have to check my schedule but I– I think I might be able to work something out. We have the place all to ourselves?

Deacon: Yeah. Yeah. Even hollis didn’t stick around. No one’s gonna bother us. And I know that because I’m the boss.

Sheila: Indeed, you are, daddy. It’s like you recreated the date that we had months ago and it’s– it’s really special. It’s like you knew what I needed then and you know what I need now. But why?

Deacon: Why not?

Sheila: I– I think we both agreed that we weren’t going to see each other anymore. I want a life with finn. You want a life with hope and if either one of them found out about us–

Deacon: Yeah. Let’s– let’s not do that. Not tonight. This evening, it’s all about you. All right, sheila? That crazy– scratch that, that unique, unpredictable, and passionate woman who hobbled her way into my life.

Sheila: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, all nine toes of mine.

Deacon: I said you were unique.

Sheila: Yes. And– and you– you get that. It’s like you get me. You– you really get me.

Deacon: That goes both ways.

Sheila: I– I don’t have to be anything else but myself. It’s like you– you see the person that I want to be and you actually have me believing that I can be that person. Like– it’s like I can see myself through your eyes.

Deacon: Sheila, you are so much more than anyone thinks. I believe that. And I also believe that people can change and everybody deserves a chance to try.

Sheila: And you’ve– you’ve given me that chance. You’ve– you’ve done so much for me and I’m not talking about just assuring my freedom, but you’ve given me a fresh start. And I– I really might have a chance at a relationship with my son. And it’s no secret how I feel about finn. You know how much I love him. And I’m so desperate to have a life with– with finn and hayes. But… I– I want a life with you, too.

[ Sheila sighs ] That really does make me crazy, doesn’t it?

Deacon: No, it doesn’T. That doesn’t make you crazy. That doesn’t make you crazy at all.

[ Door slams ]

Taylor: You know, you might be the only person who doesn’t have to worry about locking the door when sheila carter’s on the loose.

Finn: What are you doing here? I– I thought you were in europe with steffy.

Taylor: Well, I was– I was and now I’m back here. To talk some sense into you.

Sheila: I– I don’t know what I did to deserve you. Everything that you’ve done for me. Using your connections to make sure that the judge set me free. I like… I have no words.

Deacon: You have actually nothing to say? Wait, wait, hang on a second, let me…

Sheila: What are you doing?

Deacon: I’m just looking for flying pigs.

Sheila: Stop it. You set me free. You gave me back my life and I’m– I’m not gonna forget that. I’m gonna be grateful to you forever, deacon.

Donna: I, uh, just checked on eric and he’s– he’s still lying down.

Rj: Well, that’s good. I mean, he needs to rest. We can see how stressed he is.

Donna: I mean, he’s– he’s poured so much of himself into this collection. You know, he’s– he has a lot riding on this, you know. His reputation. His– his pride.

Rj: Donna, you know that I would do anything to help him, but–

Donna: But he’s compromised. I know. He can’t sketch and he’s frustrated. I hate to see him like this.

Rj: I think I need to tell my dad. He– he needs to know the truth.

Ridge: This is ridiculous. We can’t do it. We can’t do two collections on one budget. It’s impossible.

Brooke: And taking money out of hope for the future doesn’t make sense. We should be reinvesting in that line and capitalizing on its success.

Ridge: None of this makes sense. My dad shouldn’t be doing this at all. He should be at home relaxing or– or helping the next generation.

Carter: Well, I’ve spoken to eric and I don’t see him backing down.

Ridge: There is no way we can produce a collection on this budget.

Carter: I don’t disagree, but you pay me to make sure the numbers add up and it’d be foolish to overextend ourselves. This is the budget we have to work with and that means cuts.

Brooke: Carter, you mentioned earlier that ridge should talk to rj. Beginning to think that that might be the best idea. Maybe he can find out what’s going on with eric.

Donna: Okay. Look, I– I– I understand why you’d want to open up to your father, but I’m afraid eric would feel really betrayed.

Rj: I know that. I– I know that he would feel really betrayed. I get it. I understand, I agree with you, but I don’t know what to do right now. I feel really stuck. And I– I don’t think this is good for him anymore.

Donna: Look, I– I just think that walking away at this point in time, rj, would really hurt eric. Please keep working with your granddad on this. Please. Give him this final collection and please, don’t tell ridge about his father.

Deacon: Look, I hated seeing you in prison. I had a favor to call in. I decided to help a friend.

Sheila: Mm. A– a friend, huh?

Deacon: Maybe a little more than a friend.

Sheila: Well, I am never going to forget it. And if you ever need me to help you with a favor, you know that I’m– I’m more than willing.

Deacon: Got a couple of ideas.

[ Sheila chuckles ]

Sheila: All right. Now, I just wanna sit down and kick off my shoes and relax.

Deacon: You know, I love that about you. You got no problem just, uh, showing your nine little piggies.

Sheila: Why should I? No one can say that I was not committed to a plan.

Deacon: Some people might say that cutting off your own toe to fake your own death should get you committed.

Sheila: Hm. Are you calling me c-r-a-z-y?

Deacon: No, no, no, not the c word. I, uh, I would say maybe eccentric. Extreme.

Sheila: Hm. How about passionate?

Deacon: Hm.

Sheila: Devoted?

Deacon: Those words work too.

Sheila: Because that’s exactly what I am. I am definitely passionate, devoted, committed, to my son.

Deacon: That is just wildly inappropriate timing.

[ Sheila chuckles ]

Sheila: I would do anything to remain a part of finn and hayes’s lives.

Deacon: Yeah.

Sheila: Hey, and yours too, deacon.

Deacon: That’s better.

Carter: Look, I’m gonna step out. I will work on the numbers. Maybe there’s a way I can minimize the cuts.

Brooke: Okay. Do what you can. In the meantime, ridge is going to have to talk to rj. And you will have to get him to convince eric that all of you are going to collaborate on one couture line.

Ridge: I’ll try.

Carter: Look, I talked to eric earlier and I didn’t get the impression he wants to collaborate. Get back to you later with the new numbers.

Ridge: Thank you, carter.

Brooke: I’m sorry. I can see how upset you are. But I have to believe that everything is going to work out for the best.

Ridge: Yeah?

Brooke: Yeah.

Rj: I thought you were as concerned about granddad as I am.

Donna: I am. Of– of– of course I am. My god, I– he was so excited when he first started this, and– and then as time has gone on, his– his condition is just getting worse. I mean, even when he plays the piano now, he uses his left hand only. It just hurts to see him like this.

Rj: You’re listing reasons why I should just tell my dad. This is serious.

Donna: Listen, you don’t understand. You’re not– you’re not just helping him realize his– his vision here. You’re giving him hope. He needs us rj. He needs you.

Rj: I wanna be there for him. Obviously, I wanna be there for him. I’m gonna cherish working on this with him for the rest of my life. But I– we’re not helping him by keeping this a secret.

Donna: You are. You’re giving him drive and purpose. I– I mean, you can’t just let him feel useless. Eric forrester has to go out on top. Please, rj, please don’t give up on your granddad.

Finn: How are steffy and the kids?

Taylor: Well, you know, I mean, they’re– they’re settling in.

Finn: I just– I– I miss them so much. You know, this– this whole situation is killing me.

Taylor: Well, they miss you too. But then, I mean, the– the kids are okay. You know, considering all the disruption their lives have had lately. First moving to eric’s, now to europe.

Finn: You know, I hate the impact that this is having on them.

Taylor: Well, you’re not with them, so of course it’s having an impact. But, you know, you can start to make this right. You can take the necessary moves to assure steffy that sheila will not be in your lives again. It’s the only way your wife is coming back home.

Sheila: I mean it. No one has ever defended and supported me like you.

Deacon: Everyone deserves a second chance. And everyone deserves to be loved.

[ Sheila chuckles ]

Sheila: You have no idea what that means to me. Subject 1: Who’s that?

Taylor: Finn, I– I get the connection between a birth mother and her child, but this is sheila that we’re talking about. She’s never been a loving mother. That has always been li’s role.

Finn: No, I know that, okay? And I have told li that.

Taylor: No, you… I just don’t understand what’s happening. So sheila shot you, right? And yes, it was an accident. It was an accident because she meant to shoot steffy, but she still left you both for dead in the alley. Her intention was to kill the mother of your child and take away the love of your life. What kind of loving mother does that to a son and her grandson?

Finn: Taylor, you’re not telling me anything I don’t already know, okay? You can’t imagine the guilt that I feel. Being apart from steffy and the kids is absolutely killing me.

Taylor: Then do something about it, finn! Step up! Prove to steffy that it is safe to come home to you!

Sheila: So, how do you know judge scott?

[ Deacon laughing ]

Deacon: That is, uh, that’s a long– that’s a long story.

Sheila: Really? Long story? Well, I– I’ve got nothing but time thanks to you.

Deacon: We go way back.

Sheila: I had no idea you were so well connected.

Deacon: Didn’t keep me from landing in the slammer, did it?

Sheila: I guess all those times you visited me in prison, it, uh, brought up some bad memories, huh?

Deacon: I guess mostly it just killed me to see you locked up. Sheila, don’t get me wrong. I’m not naive. I know you’ve done some terrible things.

Sheila: Yeah. But I’ve– I’ve taken responsibility for all of those things. I’m– I’m not the same person anymore.

Deacon: That’s exactly what I told the judge. People can change, sheila. Look, I’m a perfect example of that.

Sheila: I have changed. And a big reason why, deacon… is you.

Brooke: I see the toll this is taking on you, being at odds with eric. I know how much you love him and respect him.

Ridge: I do. I just want him to be happy, you know.

Brooke: Well, I’m just gonna believe that this is all gonna work out for the best. And just know that I’m always on your side.

Ridge: Yeah?

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Ridge: I like that.

[ Brooke giggles ] But why is my dad doing this? Why’s he putting rj right in the middle?

Rj: I can tell you why, dad.

Whenever you’re hungry,

Ridge: I’m glad you’re here. Your mom and I were talking about your granddad and he just, um– he hasn’t been himself lately.

Brooke: We’re worried that this fashion challenge might be taking a toll on him.

Ridge: And don’t get this wrong. We’re– we’re glad that you’re designing, that you’re working with him. It’s amazing, but, uh, if there’s something else going on with my dad, I need to know.

Brooke: You can tell us anything, rj. You’re not gonna be betraying your grandfather. We just want to help.

Ridge: You said before, you said that– that you knew what it was. So, what is it?

Donna: Please keep working

with your granddad on this.

Please.

Give him this final collection.

And please, don’t tell ridge

about his father.

Rj: You have to understand. Granddad, he needs to do this collection. I think it’s gonna be the most important collection of his entire career. And I just wish that you wouldn’t stand in his way. I think you need to give him the support that he needs and the support that he deserves.

Ridge: That’s it?

Rj: Yeah, that’s it.

Finn: I will do everything in my power to keep sheila away from my family. I’ll stop at nothing to make sure that they’re safe. You believe that.

Taylor: You and steffy were torn apart, not too long ago, and that was all sheila’s fault.

Finn: Yeah, but we found our way back to each other because my love for her wouldn’t keep us apart. It’s me. It’s me.

[ Both panting ] I found you. Steffy, it’s me. It’s really me.

Steffy: Oh. Oh, my god.

[ Steffy crying ]

Steffy: Oh.

Finn: It’s me, it’s me.

[ Bell tolls ] With my love for your daughter, it gave me the strength to fight my way back to her and I swore we would never be apart again. And I promise you, I will never stop fighting for her and my family. You can count on that.

Taylor: Okay, then deal with sheila. Just do it. I don’t care what you do. Just get her out of your life. You just promised me that– that– that you would not let any harm come to your family. So you need to do whatever you can to make sure that happens.

Deacon: You’ve changed me too, sheila.

Sheila: For the better?

Deacon: Jury’s still out.

[ Sheila chuckles ]

Sheila: Thank goodness you’re the only jury I have to worry about. I’m never gonna forget what you did for me. The lengths that you went to, to secure my freedom. You have no idea what that means to me.

Deacon: I have a pretty good idea.

Sheila: I know that we, uh, we decided we weren’t going to see each other anymore.

Deacon: It’s just too dangerous.

Sheila: Yeah. I know. I– I know. I– I wouldn’t want you to risk your relationship with hope. You’ve worked so hard for everything that you have right now. The restaurant, the love and respect of your family. I would never wanna take that away from you. But you are– you’re living proof of– you’re a perfect example of how things can be if people see that you’ve changed.

[ Sheila chuckles ] I promise I’m not gonna just pop in, stop by, even though you’ve got to admit it was a lot of fun.

Deacon: Yeah, and to think I used to hate surprises.

[ Sheila laughs ]

Sheila: Yeah. Well, I’m never gonna forget everything that you did. Thank you.

[ Sheila sighs ] Uh, goodbye.

Deacon: Sheila, wait, wait, wait. Look, maybe I’m the crazy one, but I’ve been alone too long.

Sheila: What are you saying?

Deacon: I don’t want to be alone anymore.

Sheila: Don’t deny it because I heard everything.

Deacon: What exactly is it that you think you heard?

Sheila: You have a– a past history with the judge that presided over my case and you called in a favor. You’re the one that made sure I was set free.

Finn: Well, that’s exactly the outcome we were looking for. Yes. No, it’s great news. So, you get home and have some rest and, um, uh, we’ll follow up soon. Okay. Bye bye. Wait. What? How did you get past security?

Liam: Well, I– I used to live here and so did my daughter, so I used my key.

Finn: Why are you here?

Liam: Yeah. Uh, kelly’s been missing one of her favorite stuffies. I found it. Steffy said that you were gonna ship over a bunch of stuff, so she told me to bring it by.

Finn: You’ve been talking to my wife?

Liam: Yeah.

Finn: All right. Why don’t you just leave it on the table? And don’t communicate with steffy.

Brooke: Mm. Ah, I have missed you. You’ve been working a lot lately.

Ridge: I know, I’m– I’m sorry, I’ve got…

Brooke: Is this because of the fashion challenge against your father?

Ridge: Well, I gotta take it seriously, right? But I hate it. I– I hate being at odds with my dad.

Donna: I asked sophia to make us some tea. You want anything? Maybe some food? I haven’t seen you eat much lately.

Eric: Yeah. I haven’t been very hungry actually, but thanks. Look, the only thing I want to do is the thing I can’t, which is to realize this material and get it down on paper. I can’t do it. It’s just useless.

Donna: Okay. Um, well, what– what about the pills?

Eric: They don’t work, donna. They don’t work. I’m sorry– I’m sorry. I just– I appreciate so much what you do for me and– and– and all the help that rj gives me, but he can’t do this alone. Not without my guidance.

Donna: Look, sweetheart. Maybe this is just– it’s too much. You know, you’re working so hard. You don’t have to prove anything.

Eric: Yes, I do. This may be my last chance to put a full collection out there in the world. I’m not gonna walk away. I’m not gonna walk away. I can’t!

Rj: Hey, hey. What’s– what’s going on?

Ridge: Hey.

Carter: You busy? We need to make some decisions about the budget for next quarter. And as you know, couture is our biggest expenditure. So, we need to make some difficult choices about reallocations in order to accommodate eric’s collection.

Ridge: Great. It’s affecting the whole company. Why’s my dad doing this?

Donna: Eric was trying to design and he’s having horrible tremors in his hands.

Rj: Tremors?

Eric: Yes. Yeah, they’re getting worse. Um, they’re getting worse.

Donna: Maybe this– this fashion showdown isn’t worth it. We can both see the toll it’s taking on you.

Rj: Hey, granddad. Look at me. Listen, I– I will help you with your vision, but you realize you have absolutely nothing to prove. You– you are on top. You’ve been on top for years. She’s absolutely right. There is no reason why you should be sacrificing your health to make this collection.

Liam: Finn, steffy is the mother of my child. I’m gonna be communicating with her. There’s nothing you can do about that. Matter of fact, I was thinking about flying out there soon to see kelly. So, maybe…

Finn: Liam, I’m not gonna let you undermine my marriage.

Liam: Undermine your– I miss my daughter, don’t you miss your son?

Finn: Oh, so now you miss your daughter. That’s– that’s convenient. Keep my son out of this and stay the hell away from my wife.

Liam: Okay. Can you stay the hell away from sheila?

Sheila: I just– I can’t believe that you would go to bat for me with the judge to ensure my freedom.

Deacon: Sheila, we cannot have this conversation here.

Sheila: Yeah, of course. Right.

Deacon: Okay. Let’s go up to the apartment.

Sheila: Why? Deacon, are you– are you inviting me back to your place?

Deacon: I guess I am.

Sheila: You have no idea how much this means to me. You literally gave me back my life, [Indistinct]. Thank you, deacon. Really. Thank you.

Deacon: Come on. Liberty mutual customized my car insurance

Ridge: What are we talking about exactly?

Carter: Cuts, ridge. Deep cuts.

Brooke: Could you be more specific?

Carter: I worked on a new budget to accommodate for time, money, and resources to realize eric’s collection and you can see right there that he is not doing things on the cheap.

Ridge: This it? This is what we’re talking about?

Carter: Yeah.

Ridge: Has he seen this?

Carter: Not yet.

Ridge: This makes no sense. Not to the company, not to him. What’s my dad doing?

Eric: I just–

Donna: Eric. Eric.

Eric: All right.

Donna: Look, I can see the toll this is taking on you. Designing this collection shouldn’t run you into the ground.

Rj: She’s absolutely right. I mean, what good is making a final collection if your health is gonna suffer more in the process?

Donna: Put down the pencil. Let’s call your doctor.

Eric: No, no, donna no. Look, rj and I are doing fine. We’re– we’re doing great with this. You’ve really sparked to my teaching. Doing it really well. This is just a– it’s just a bump in the road, that’s all it is. I’ll get over this. I’ll– I’ll– I’ll be fine.

Donna: Eric, please just call–

Eric: No, donna, no. I’m not gonna– I’m gonna run with this. I’m gonna do this and rj is gonna help me. That’s what we’re gonna do. Here, take this.

Donna: Are you okay?

Eric: Yeah. The beginnings of a headache. I’m gonna, uh, I’m just gonna go upstairs for a while, lay down, okay?

Donna: Okay.

Rj: Okay.

Eric: Listen, when I come downstairs, I don’t want to hear any more about us not being able to complete this collection, all right? Nothing else. Nothing more. And I certainly don’t want you to tell anybody– anybody else about my condition, and certainly not your father. Certainly not him.

Finn: Steffy and I are a family. I’m the one that she’s gonna be coming home to, all right? This is my life, not yours. You better get that.

Liam: I got it. Um, but the only reason steffy’s in europe right now is because you can’t protect her from your birth mother.

Finn: Just– just stop with all this, okay? You– you– you think now that you’ve dumped hope, you can just what? Waltz in here and take my wife? Liam, steffy knows all the pain and the heartache that you have caused her and I’m gonna make sure that you never hurt her again.

Liam: I’m confused. How am I a threat to steffy? Like she didn’t dump me, finn, she dumped you and it’s because of this inexplicable connection you have to sheila.

Deacon: Stop looking at me like that. It wasn’t that big a deal.

Sheila: Oh, wait, are you kidding me? I’ve never had anyone stand up for me like that.

Deacon: That’s not right. Sheila, everyone deserves to have at least one person in their life who stands up for them.

Sheila: Yeah, but when I– I heard what you said to judge scott. I– I honestly was floored. I– I’ve never had anyone… there’s honestly been no one who has ever said anything so kind about me. You fought for my freedom. You fought for me, deacon. Why? Why was it so important that– that– that judge makes sure I stay a free woman?

Donna: I just, um, checked on him. He– he’s okay.

Rj: He’s okay?

Donna: Yeah.

Rj: Donna, listen, I’m– I’m seriously worried about him. His condition’s obviously getting worse. I mean–

Donna: I know I– he’s just– he’s so frustrated.

Rj: Listen. When it started out, it was really positive. He was– he was really confident in his ability. So much so that he challenged dad to this fashion showdown and it was exciting and it was fun. But now, it is not like that anymore. We need to face that. He is stressed, he’s burnt out, he’s tired.

Donna: I agree– I agree, okay? I agree.

Rj: I’m worried about keeping this secret from my dad. I know that he would want to know what’s going on with him. Donna, I think it’s time.

Donna: Time for what?

Rj: It’s time that my dad knew what’s actually going on with granddad.

Liam: I’m not the problem, finn. You want me to go away? You want me to become a non-issue in your marriage? There’s an answer for that. You just stop blaming me and start focusing on the real problem, which is sheila.

Deacon: Now, I know that I’m always saying that you’re the crazy one and I’m pretty sure that’s true. But I am too because I am crazy about you. And so, if you want to know the reason why I didn’t want to see you rotting in a prison cell, it’s simple. I just– I couldn’t imagine my life without you in it.

Sheila: Haven’t we just agreed to not see each other anymore?

Deacon: Yeah, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to see you happy.

Sheila: You really mean that? I– when I– when I was released, I thought it was a miracle. I thought I’d been given a second chance at life and I had– I had no idea it was because of you. I– I– part of me, it’s– it’s– it’s like part of me wants to believe it’s too good to be true, and then the other part of me says it makes perfect sense because you’re the– you’re the deacon sharpe that I know. That’s– that’s just you. You are an incredibly caring, sensitive, passionate man that has always been my champion. Febreze!

Ridge: Well, we can’t do this. We can’t cut funding to hope for the future. The line’s been doing great.

Brooke: I agree. That would be absolutely ridiculous.

Carter: Okay. Then maybe we could, um, hold off on the bedroom line this fiscal year.

Ridge: A hold off on the bedroom line. The one line that makes money every year, just to humor my dad. Good idea.

Carter: I’m trying to figure this out, man. There’s– there is one more solution.

Brooke: What?

Carter: Talk to your son. He’s working with eric. Maybe he can give us some insight into why eric is so adamant about making this collection. This very costly collection. He can give us some idea on how to talk him out of it.

Brooke: Maybe he can convince eric to collaborate with you on one single couture line.

Ridge: Sure, I’ll talk to rj. Give it a shot. The stakes are too high. I don’t know what we’re doing. I don’t know what my dad is doing.

Rj: I know that granddad wouldn’t be happy if I told my dad, but we are in the same boat here, okay? We are both worried about him and obviously, this collection is having a negative effect on his health. A very long-term negative effect and I’m worried that if something happened to him, I would not be able to forgive myself and neither would you. And honestly, I don’t think my dad would be able to forgive me for never telling him. It’s his son, donna. I think he needs to know the truth.

Finn: Yeah. I– I don’t need you to tell me how to protect my family.

Liam: All right, well, if not me, then maybe somebody else should because dude, you’re really bad at it. And by the way, stop saying your family, this affects my family too. My daughter could get caught in the crossfire here. Now, that it’s just the two of us, would you mind telling me what the hell this is? Seriously, well, like what– what– what is this weird connection you have to sheila? Because to my eye, here’s a woman who’s caused your family nothing but pain and suffering. So, why do you want anything to do with her? Can you just tell me that?

Finn: Liam, don’t worry about my feelings for sheila, okay?

Liam: Okay. I won’t worry about your feelings, but you should because those feelings are what are telling me and everyone else that you’re not taking protecting your wife and kids seriously.

Sheila: No one’s ever cared about me the way that you do. I’m– I’m really not sure anyone has ever cared about me at all.

Deacon: No one should feel that way.

Sheila: Yeah, but when you see me, you– you don’t look away. In your eyes, I’m worth something. That I might even be deserving of tenderness and a touch. I– I never felt that from anyone my entire life. I– I’ve never had anyone on my side. Not at all.

Deacon: Sheila, we understand each other. We’ve both been knocked down, felt like the whole damn world’s against us. We don’t have to do it alone anymore.

[ Relaxing music ]

Scott: Thank you.

Deacon: Listen, really, I can’t thank you enough for coming through for me; for making sure that Sheila was set free. She’s been a good friend.

Scott: Friend? Yeah, right. Okay, because I can’t imagine you calling in a favor this big for someone you don’t care a great deal about.

Deacon: I do care about her. I mean, look, I get it… a lot of people, maybe they can’t understand that, but I think people can change; I think people can grow. Hell, look at me, you know? I got a chance to prove it to my friends, to my family. I just think she deserves the same chance.

Scott: Deacon, we go way back and– and I am– I’m really glad to see that you have pulled your life together. And now we’re even, right?

Deacon: Absolutely. Even.

[ Both laughing ]

Li: She’s terrorized our family long enough. You have to deal with her.

Finn: I agree. I’ll make it absolutely clear that she’s not welcome in my life.

Li: That’s not strong enough. She will never walk away as long as she knows that– that you love her. You have to make her believe 100% that you will have nothing to do with her ever again. That what you feel for her is the opposite of love. It’s loathing for what she did to you and your family. You have to be cold, harsh. If she sees an ounce of emotion or hesitation, she will never leave us alone. This is the way we might get her to leave Los Angeles for good.

Hope: Your heart.

Thomas: Mm.

Hope: It’s beating so fast.

Thomas: Mm. Yours, too.

Hope: Say it again, Thomas. I just want to hear it one more time.

Thomas: I love you. No matter what you’re feeling for me, no matter what’s happening, I’m always loving you.

Hope: That means so much to hear. Thomas, but I– I don’t want to hurt you.

Thomas: I know. I know you don’t want to hurt me and right now, maybe you don’t know what to feel, but that’s okay. Having you right here, so close to you, it’s all I need. It doesn’t matter because I’ve got enough love for the both of us.

Finn: Look, Mom. I’m so sorry, okay? For all of this. I see how hurt you are and how upset. I wish I could just take it all away.

Li: You can. You know what to do. I love you so much. I thank God every day you’re my son, but I hate that Sheila is your biological mother. I hate that she has any connection to you at all. I wish I didn’t feel like this, but I can’t help it. I don’t ever want to see Sheila’s face ever again. I want her out of our lives for good. Tell me you want the same thing.

Scott: You got a lot of history with Sheila, huh?

Deacon: Yeah, you can say that.

Scott: Okay, but you know that she’s–

Deacon: Scott, she’s done some terrible things, I know that and I don’t make excuses for it, but when I look at her, I see something different, you know? I think she’s changed. And you know, she hasn’t had the easiest go of it either. I mean, when you’re constantly told that you’re never gonna be loved or that you don’t even deserve love? You know, and you’re faced with contempt from everyone in your life? Come on, man. That takes a toll on you after a while. And if everyone tells you that you’re a monster and you just keep hearing it over and over again, I don’t know, maybe you start believing it. And monsters sometimes do monstrous things. But it doesn’t have to stay that way. You’d be amazed what a little love could do.

Li: I can’t let go of this anger. This fear. I hate that Sheila has any connection to you at all. I will never forgive your father for his affair so many years ago. He lied. He lied every day of our marriage. Let me believe that you were only adopted. Not his biological son. His lovechild with that psychopath. Because of his betrayal, Sheila is allowed to terrorize us, threaten your safety, take your family away from you. Now, that is unforgivable. And make no mistake. Sheila knew your father was married. Please tell me you could never forgive her either.

Finn: Of course, I won’t. Okay? I’m never gonna forgive Sheila for what she’s done.

Li: Even now, I can see you’re conflicted. Why?

Finn: I am not conflicted.

Li: You have a son. You know what it’s like to be a parent, to love someone so much that it’s almost terrifying because what if something happens to them?

Finn: Yes, I do. And that’s why I’m doing everything in my power to make sure Sheila stays away from my family.

Li: Sheila is cancer, Finn. You’re a doctor. You know sometimes what we do to remedy a cancer. We cut it out.

Scott: Deac, from the way you’re talking, I can only assume you and Sheila are involved.

Deacon: Yeah, it’s pretty surprising, even to me. Hey, and it’s also a secret not many people know. Ridge and Bill know.

Scott: Two pretty influential people.

Deacon: Yeah.

Scott: You– you do remember that Sheila shot Steffy, Ridge’s daughter and Steffy’s husband? I– I can’t imagine that Ridge is too happy about you being in a relationship with Sheila.

Deacon: We’re trying to be discreet, and you know what? Frankly, Ridge doesn’t get a say so in my love life.

Scott: So, you know everything that Sheila’s done, including these murder charges, and yet, you didn’t want to see her go to prison for the rest of her life. You decided to intervene.

Deacon: Well, hey, they say she’s the crazy one, but…

Scott: Okay. I can’t say I understand it.

Deacon: You know what, Evan? I can’t say I understand it all the time either, but it felt right and I don’t have any regrets.

Thomas: I wanna show you how much I love you. And you can love me just as much as I love you. You just have to let go. Hope, just… just give me a chance. Let go.

Hope: It’s, um… it’s never been like this for me before, Thomas.

Thomas: Me either.

[ Hope chuckling ]

Hope: Still, there’s just… there’s something about you.

Thomas: What is it?

Hope: It’s in the way you look at me. It’s the way you talk to me. I don’t have any doubts. I know that there is no other woman. That your heart, it isn’t divided. And it feels good to know that you are… absolutely devoted to me.

Li: Focus on your family, Finn. It is the most important thing you’ll have this life. I know because mine is fractured and it kills me.

Finn: I think about Steffy and the kids every minute of every day.

Li: Then you get them home. Do whatever it takes. Don’t forget what you’re fighting for. Your happiness, your life. Nothing less than that is on the line.

Finn: Mom, don’t you see? I hate coming home to this house without them. I miss them so much, I can’t sleep at night. And when I finally do, I wake up thinking that they’re gonna be here, but I reach over and Steffy’s side of the bed is cold. And I know that when I see those kids, they’re gonna– they’re gonna be so big and I will have missed all that.

Li: You know what to do. You get that monster out of your life. Be firm. Steffy has to absolutely believe that Sheila will never be a threat again.

Deacon: Hey, listen to me. I want to thank you for your assistance. I know that this was a big ask.

Scott: I’m happy to help. And anyway, it wasn’t that much of a stretch. The case against Sheila was based on an illegal search and seizure by Bill Spencer.

Deacon: Yeah, I know that. I mean, I get it, but you know, you still made sure that she walked out of there free and for that, I will always be grateful to you.

Scott: I’m gonna congratulate you because it’s clearly the outcome you wanted. But Deacon, you gotta be careful with a woman like Sheila Carter. Just make sure you know what you’re doing because I may not be able to help you next time.

Deacon: There’s not gonna be a next time.

Scott: I hope you’re right, but until then, you take care. It’s good to see you, man. And how about, what do you say next time we have a meal and no favors, all right? Yeah.

Deacon: Come on. I’ll walk you out.

Scott: Okay.

Sheila: I– I can’t believe what I’m seeing. Drinks for two?

Hope: You seem to always know what I want to hear.

Thomas: That I’m a one woman man?

[ Hope laughing ]

Thomas: You are everything that I need, Hope. I love you. It’s a love that feels like Romeo and Juliet. To my dying day, I will love you.

Finn: Hey, it’s me. I was hoping to catch you, but you must be busy with the kids. I, uh… I miss you guys so much. Um… and those pictures that you sent, I just can’t believe how much Kelly and Hayes have changed already. Look, I know that you need to feel safe before you and the kids can come home. I’ll make sure you’re safe, Steffy. I promise you. I love you. We’ll be together soon.

Deacon: I just had a little business meeting, that’s all. You know, when you own the joint, there’s always something, right?

Sheila: A, uh… a business meeting?

Deacon: Yeah, yeah. It’s still so strange just to see you out in the world, not holed up in the apartment.

Sheila: Is it? I mean, strange, Deacon?

Deacon: Well, you’re acting kind of strange at the moment. What’s going on?

Sheila: I don’t know. Maybe I’m… I’m getting used to being a free woman. I really thought I was gonna spend the rest of my life behind bars in prison. Wow, then miraculously, I’m– I’m released.

Deacon: Come on. That wasn’t a miracle. Bill botched the investigation.

Sheila: True. Bill is an idiot, but he’s still very powerful. Things could’ve easily gone his way. I think it was a miracle. I think there was an outside force that intervened to make sure that I live a life of freedom. A life where I could love my son and my grandson.

Deacon: Sheila, you know that I’m glad you’re out. I– I just want you to live your life and be happy, but I gotta get back to work. You know, we already said our goodbyes and this is not making it easier. Listen, just, uh, stay here, order something on me, okay?

Sheila: Wait, wait, wait. Deacon, I can’t– I can’t leave you like this.

Deacon: Sheila, we talked about this. We cannot be seen here together.

Sheila: I can’t leave you without you knowing how much I appreciate everything that you said, how much all of it means to me.

Deacon: I know, Sheila.

Sheila: I’m not a monster. And… you really believe that.

Deacon: Of course, I do.

Sheila: You always see something different in me. Maybe I’m worthy of a life that I never had. Worthy of my freedom. Worthy of a relationship with my son. Worthy of… love. You know, all I’ve ever wanted in my life is to be loved. I know I’m certainly capable of giving it, but maybe, I just– I might… be deserving of receiving it, too.

Deacon: Where’s all this coming from?

Sheila: I saw you. I saw who you were with. You were with the judge that presided over my case, Judge Scott, and I heard everything that you said. All of it. It was– it was all because of you that I’m a free woman today. How do I ever thank you for something like that, Deacon? How do I ever do that?

Recap written by Suzanne

Deacon and his old friend Judge Scott share a drink at Deacon’s restaurant, Il Giardino. Sheila listens in on them nearby. Deacon admits that he cares for Sheila. She looks very touched that Deacon cares about her and called in a favor to get her out of prison. Deacon talks about how not being loved can make you feel and turn you into a monster. Deacon tells Scott, after he asks, that only Ridge and Bill know that he has a relationship with Sheila. Scott warns him to be careful, since Sheila is dangerous. Deacon is surprised to find Sheila there after Scott leaves. She tells him that she overheard his conversation and wonders how she can ever thank him.

Li continues to pressure Finn to deal with Sheila so that he can have his family back. She’s worried that he’s too nice and won’t convince Sheila that he doesn’t love her and wants her gone. Li is still angry at Jack for lying to her about Finn being adopted instead of owning up to his infidelity with Sheila. Finn tells her how much he misses Steffy and the kids. He tries to phone Steffy, but she and the kids aren’t home. He promises that they’ll be together soon.

Hope and Thomas relax in each other’s arms after having sex. She worries more that she’ll hurt him, but she loves hearing that he loves her, only her, and always will. He tells her again how much he loves her; he feels like they’re Romeo and Juliet.

Recap written by Suzanne

Hope and Thomas are amazed that Douglas set up a romantic dinner for them with wine, pizza, French fries and dessert. Thomas and Hope talk about their relationship for a little while. He still loves her and thinks they’re a family.  She likes hearing that she’s the only one.

Finn reassures his mom, Li, that he loves her, that she is his only mom and that he’s had no contact with Sheila. Li reveals that she’s still hurting from learning about Jack’s betrayal. She wonders if there wasn’t any part of Finn that wanted to let Sheila die when she had her heart attack, but he tells her that he’s a doctor and treated her just like any other patient.

Sheila packs her few things and leaves Deacon’s room. Meanwhile, Deacon goes down to his restaurant and meets with Judge Scott, the one that let Sheila go. He and Deacon are old buddies, so he did Deacon a favor by letting her out. Scott warns Deacon that Sheila has a pretty violent rap sheet. Sheila walks in and sees them, so she sits nearby and listens in (wearing a hat and sunglasses). She smiles and gets emotional when the judge reminds Deacon that he’s the reason that Sheila got out of jail.

[ Relaxing music ]

Li: I’m glad to hear you talking like this. You can’t give into Sheila.

Finn: Of course, Mom. I’m not gonna risk losing my family. I mean, Sheila, she’s caused enough damage as it is. But listen, Mom, there’s something else I need you to know.

Sheila: So, we’re really doing this. We’re gonna end this?

Deacon: Yes.

[ Sheila sighing ]

Sheila: I– I don’t want to jeopardize your relationship with your daughter… The kind of relationship that I really hope that I’ll have one day with my son.

Hope: I still can’t believe you set this all up.

Thomas: You never stop amazing us.

Douglas: It was nothing, really. Gotta eat, right?

Hope: I think it’s a little more than just that.

Douglas: I wanted you guys to be happy. I still love you both so much, and I think you love each other too.

[ Thomas chuckling ]

Douglas: Madame.

Thomas: Wow.

Hope: Well, why thank you, good sir.

Thomas: Okay.

Douglas: Would you like a red or white with your meal?

Thomas: Well, I mean, I think that depends on what we’re having, so.

Douglas: The finest pizza and frites. [ Whispers ] French fries.

Hope: Oh. Okay, got it.

Thomas: Totally.

Hope: Well, those are my favorite. Come here, sweetie. You are so sweet. Thank you for doing all this.

Li: What do I need to know, Finn?

Finn: I just want to make sure that you realize how much I love and respect you. Okay? You’re my mom. This incredible woman who raised me with such love and support, and understanding, and consistency. You’re still doing it now. You’re– you’re coming over here, and you’re checking in on me — talking to me straight. I realize it must have really hurt when you heard that I called Sheila “Mom,” and I truly– I don’t know what came over me in that moment. I need you to know there is zero mistake when it comes to who made the man I am today, okay? And that’s you, okay? And I love you so much for that.

Li: Okay. So, Finn, you really haven’t had contact with Sheila?

Finn: See? Again with the straight talk, huh? No, Mom. Absolutely not. And once I figure out a way to get through to her, I plan on never seeing Sheila again.

Sheila: I understand you not wanting to threaten your relationship with your daughter. I feel the same way about my relationship with Finn.

Deacon: I–

Sheila: Whoa, whoa, whoa, stop. Stop, okay? Before you go and get all negative, I… I’m well aware that our situations are very different. — That I am determined to find a way to be a part of Finn’s life.

Hope: This just might be the best pizza I’ve ever had.

Thomas: Mm. It’s so crispy. And the cheese.

Douglas: I know you’re used to eating fancier foods, but pizza and fries was all I could get delivered in time.

Hope: Mm-mm. This is amazing. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thomas: Mm-hmm.

Douglas: Well, I should get going.

Thomas: Wait, what?

Hope: Where?

Douglas: Home. I told Aunt Donna I forgot some homework here. She’s on her way back from grabbing us some boba.

Hope: Your son. Wow. Wow. You really did think of everything, didn’t you?

Douglas: I wanted to give you two some time alone. It’s so good seeing my mom and dad laughing, smiling, enjoying a meal. No pressure, but this would be a dream come true: My parents together… all of us living as a happy family.

Hope: Wow. Come here, you.

Thomas: Good kid.

Finn: It’s obvious how upset you are, Mom. You can’t carry all this stress and anger about Sheila. I’m gonna handle it; I promise you.

Li: It’s not that. I mean, it is, it’s just… I just can’t stop thinking about the impact your father’s affair with Sheila had on all of us. It just cuts so deep.

Finn: Look, you know you could always talk to me about it.

Li: It’s such a dark, deep secret from me, yet it was so easy for him to hide it. Makes me wonder what else he hid from me. And the worse part? Jack was the one who brought Sheila into our lives, yet he defended himself. Said that, uh, if it weren’t for her, you wouldn’t be here. That I should find some way to be grateful for this sleazy affair behind my back. Adopting you, knowing that you were the product of his betrayal of our marriage…

Finn: I’m sorry, Mom. I’m sorry. I know.

Sheila: That’s why we’re– we’re doing this. That’s why– that’s why we’re ending it, right? Because we both want a long lasting relationship with our kids. I really, I really– I don’t want this to end.

Deacon: Me, either. But just, I can’t mess things up with Hope.

Sheila: Yeah, and I, you know, I do want a relationship with– with Finn. I don’t want to have to walk in the shadows hiding from those outraged stares of the world any longer. Especially from the Forresters.

Deacon: One Forrester in particular: Steffy.

Deacon: With Steffy still in the way, I just don’t see how you have a path back to Finn.

Sheila: It sounds like you’re starting to doubt me.

Deacon: No, no, no, no. No, I know better.

Sheila: Well, good. You should. You just need to remember: there is no mistaking that bond between a mother and her son.

Finn: Hey. Look, you didn’t let the truth about Dad’s affair tear you down, right? Or throw your life into complete chaos? Instead, your persisted, right? You’re here, pushing forward, and you’re making sure I do the same, and I will. I’m gonna find a way to get through to Sheila. I’ll always do whatever it takes to protect Steffy and the kids. That goes for you, too.

Thomas: Can you believe our kid?

Hope: No. But also, yes.

Thomas: Hm.

Hope: Hm. And then, no.

Thomas: Hm.

[ Phone chiming ]

Hope: Oh. Oh! Speaking of, that would be Douglas letting us know that there are milk and cookies in the kitchen for dessert.

Thomas: Ah! Yeah. Of course, there are.

Hope: Mm-hmm.

Thomas: He really did think of everything, didn’t he? He, uh… he’s right…. With what he said. I do love you.

Hope: Thomas.

Thomas: No, I know. I know. You’re not there yet. I understand. But, it’s okay. I just love being with you… Being in your presence. I made mistakes in the past, but I turned around. Well, you know, it takes a little while for guys to mature — Longer than girls, right? So… [ Laughing ] Look, you– you were far ahead of me for a long time, but I think I’m finally there. But, um, there is one thing I did want to address. I promise that I did not tell Douglas to do any of this.

Hope: Oh, no. I– I think I figured that out because only he could’ve pulled all of this off.

Thomas: Mm-hmm.

Hope: So. ..

Thomas: Sure. You know, I don’t want to ruin the moment, but… look, you know how I feel, Jope. I only wanna be with you. Just you. And look, I… I was the wrong guy in the past, but I’m better now. I’m a new man. And Douglas is right about one more thing. You miss your family. Of course you do. But Liam hurt you, and that’s not your only family. Our family is right here.

Thomas: You know, Douglas isn’t wrong. We are a family, Hope.

Hope: Of course we are.

Thomas: And we could have everything Douglas has always wanted: A family together… Sharing more moments like this. And I know you’re not there yet. You may not love me right now, but… when you do, when things change, I will be right here because I have always loved you.

Hope: I can admit that it feels so good to be in your arms. A man that does love me and only me.

Thomas: Just you.

Hope: I can feel your love what you share with me, Thomas, and it… feels good. So, can you do it again? Tell me I’m the only one.

Thomas: You are the only one.

Deacon: Can I, uh– can I help you with anything?

Sheila: No, no. It’s– this is pretty much it. It’s not like I had a lot. Look, see? I can– I can handle this.

[ Phone chiming ]

Sheila: Hm?

Deacon: No, I just have to go downstairs to the restaurant.

Sheila: I understand. Of course, you do. So, I guess this is goodbye. My knight in shining armor… you really were– you are a godsend. I– I don’t know what I would’ve done if you hadn’t taken me in and really showed me that… I had worth, that I existed. Yeah, I know that I’ve proven I can take care of myself, but it was so nice having you to rely on. I am gonna miss you, Deacon Sharpe.

Deacon: I’m gonna miss you too, Sheila Carter. Good luck because I’m gonna be rooting for you.

[ Sheila chuckling ]

Sheila: Goodbye, Daddy.

[ Sheila exhaling ]

Li: So, since we’re opening up so much, be honest. There wasn’t any part of you that wanted to let Sheila go when she had her heart attack?

[ Finn sighing ]

Finn: I mean, I know the threat she posed, and the terror and pain she had caused our families, and I could see how much you and Steffy just wanted it all to be over. But plain and simple, I don’t decide who I save and who I don’t. Someone was coding in my hospital right there in front of me. I had a job to do.

Li: You’re stronger in your convictions than I am.

Finn: Well, regardless, she’s… she’s back in our lives, and I might not know exactly how yet, but I’m gonna find a way to get through to Sheila. And once I do, once she finally realizes that I can’t have anything to do with her, she’ll be gone.

Deacon: Man, I’m glad you texted. I didn’t know you were coming in. I would’ve gotten you the best seat in the house. Hey, listen. I can’t thank you enough for your help.

Scott: Oh, come on, Deacon. We’re old friends. We go way back. Although, who would’ve thought that you would be the town’s hot restaurateur, and I’d have earned my judgeship? Especially considering some of those situations you had to bail me out of at the lair. If memory serves.

Deacon: You know, if memory serves, one of those situations involved a can of whipped cream, a pair of twins and you in the walk-in refrigerator. Yeah. But you know, the thing about time– the thing about time passing is that the longer it passes, the harder it is to remember the bad stuff.

Both: Now, it doesn’t seem so bad.

[ Both chuckling ]

Scott: Okay, I gotta say, Deacon. I was a bit surprised by your request.

Deacon: Well, you know me. I haven’t always, uh, made the best choices or fraternized with the right crowd, but Sheila and I, we go way back, too. We have a lot of history.

Scott: So, what I think I’m hearing is the things we do for those we love, right?

Deacon: Hey.

Scott: But Deacon, I gotta tell you, man, her rap sheet… this is not the kind of girl you bring home to your mom.

Deacon: I never brought a girl home to my mom. Too smart for that, I guess.

Scott: Mm. Well, at least now, I know a little bit why you reached out to me, called in a favor… Asked to make sure the attorney’s files all the right motions. Ms. Carter may never know, but the really big reason that she’s a free woman is ’cause of you, Deacon.

[ Dramatic Music ]

[ Knocking on door ]

Hope: Dad.

Finn: You want me to cut ties with my birth mother and deny she exists.

Li: You’ve got to start thinking clearly, Finn.  Sheila will destroy everything you love and value. She’ll ruin the rest of your life. I know I raised a man  smarter than this. You have to see that if you don’t cut Sheila out of your life immediately, you will lose Steffy and your children forever.

Douglas: How do you draw like this?

Thomas: Uh, that’s a great question. I’m not sure actually. I can tell you that your mom has, don’t tell her this, been always my biggest source of inspiration.

Douglas: Wouldn’t it be fun if you and Mom could take Beth and me to the beach soon? We could have a picnic. Watch the sunset.

Thomas: Yeah. Yeah, that’d be great. That’d be a lot of fun.

Douglas: Mom’s the happiest when family’s together.

Thomas: Yeah. Hey, look, you know, your mom and I, we love you very, very much always wanna spend time together, all three of us, right? But sometimes we don’t always get what we want, you know, and we have to– we have to be patient, can’t push things. I mean, Mom is going through a lot right now. So let’s just wait, relax, and see how things turn out. Okay?

Hope: Dad?

Deacon: You better go hide. Just a second, honey. Go, go, go. Hey.

Hope: Uh, hi. What took so long?

Li: Oh, Sheila. Sheila. Sheila. I am so sick of hearing about that woman. She’s inflicted too much heartache and pain. She needs to be stopped. And you’re the only one who can get through to her and end her madness.

Thomas: Let’s get you drawing, huh? Here’s a pencil.

Douglas: Oh, I can’t right now. I’ve gotta go, actually.

Thomas: Okay, big man on campus. You got some plans? What’s going on?

Douglas: Well, I’m grabbing a ride with Aunt Donna. We’re gonna hang out before she drops me off at Mom’s.

Thomas: Oh, okay. Uh, no worries. But– but just say, before you go, everything’s gonna be all right, your mom and I, we love you very much and that’s never gonna change. And if your mom and I are meant to be together, everything’s gonna fall into place. Okay?

Douglas: I love you too, Dad. And I agree. I believe our family will fall right into place.

Finn: I will do anything for my family, Mom. Sheila won’t ruin it for me. I promise you that.

Li: I want to believe you. I’ve always had faith in you. My beautiful, brilliant son.

[ Li chuckles ]

Li: But I can see that she has a hold on you. You must break that hold. I am not leaving until you tell me Sheila is going to be out of our lives once and for all. I need to see that you know what needs to be done.

Hope: What’s going on, Dad? You seem a little bit distracted.

Deacon: No, I was gonna, uh, jump in the shower. What are you doing here? Why did you come over? I mean– I mean, I’m always happy when you come over. I just– sit down.

Hope: Oh, okay. Oh, well, um, it’s been a minute and I just wanted to check in on you… and besides, Beth and Douglas are missing their mermaid Grandpa.

Deacon: Ah, that’s merman.

Hope: Oh, I’m sorry. Well, we would like to have the merman over for dinner sometime soon, so….

Deacon: I would love that. I– I would really love that. Thank you. Um, I miss them and– and– and I miss you, too. Just been thinking about you a lot lately. I’ve been a little worried.

Hope: You’re worried about me?

Deacon: Yeah, I mean, Hope, you’re my daughter. I– I know I haven’t always been around as your father but, you know, your– your marriage is ending and it’s– it’s gotta hurt. Liam’s been a big part of your life.

Hope: And he still will be. He’s an amazing father and i have no doubt that we are going to co-parent well together.

Deacon: Just sounds kind of sterile.

[ Hope chuckles ]

Hope: Well, it’s not what I wanted for myself. But you have to take what life throws at you, right? And besides, you know, things– things happen and, um, I’ll be fine. I can take care of myself.

Deacon: Well, you don’t have to, you know that? I mean, look, honey, I get it. I get that you’re strong, and you’re independent, and I suppose that probably comes from not having your father around. But I’m here now. I want you to know you’re not alone. You come here any time you want. I’m here for you. No one and nothing is gonna interfere with our relationship. You hear me?

Hope: I hear you.

[ Cell phone chimes ]

Hope: Let me just check, it might be work.

Deacon: Yeah.

Hope: Oh, um, okay. I– I know that I said I wanted to hang out but I– I think this is important. I– I think everything’s okay. I just– I think I need to take care of this, Dad. I’m so sorry. I know I just got here.

Deacon: No, it’s okay. It’s okay. I’m just glad I got a chance to see you. Let’s catch up soon, okay? And that dinner, I would love that and I love you.

Hope: I love you, too.

Deacon: Okay.

Hope: All right. See you soon, okay?

Deacon: Yep. That was close. That was too damn close. Sheila, we can’t do this anymore.

Li: I’m so blessed to have you as my son. You’re the greatest joy of my life. But it’s still so upsetting that your father’s affair brought that psychopath into our lives.

Finn: I feel– I feel guilty.

Li: Never. No, you are innocent. You always have been, even now. It’s only natural to want to know where you came from. This is your father’s doing. He let Sheila turn our lives upside down by betraying me. Your family is torn apart. Your wife and children are halfway across the world to stay away from that monster.

Finn: Yeah. I’m gonna fix this. I will not let you or Steffy down. And I will not allow Sheila to keep me away from my wife and my kids any longer.

Sheila: Okay. Deacon, come on. Take a deep breath. She didn’t see us. Nothing happened.

Deacon: Nothing happened? Sheila, we were seconds away from getting caught. Thank god that door was locked. If she– if had seen us together–

Sheila: No, but she didn’t see us together. It’s okay, she has no idea.

Deacon: But if she saw us together, that’d be it for me and my daughter. She’d have nothing to do with me. I mean, this– this doesn’t make sense at this point. I’m just playing with fire.

[ Sheila chuckles ]

Sheila: So what– what exactly are you saying?

Deacon: You know how I feel about you… but I can’t lose Hope. Whatever we’re doing, it ends, today.

Hope: Um, hi.

Thomas: Hi.

Hope: I got your message.

Thomas: I didn’t text you.

Hope: Yes, you did.

Thomas: No, you– you texted me.

Hope: No– no, I didn’t.

Both: Douglas.

Douglas: Oh, hey, guys.

[ Hope laughs ]

[ Thomas clears throat ]

Thomas: Okay, so let me get this straight. You texted me as your mom.

Hope: And you texted me as your dad.

Douglas: Pretty easy, actually.

Hope: Oh, okay, well, you seem to pull this all together pretty quickly.

Thomas: Well, I mean, that kind of makes sense. He is a Forrester. Forresters know how to set a very romantic scene, don’t they? Isn’t that right?

Douglas: Yeah. You know it. Dad told me that things would fall into place with our family. I just wanted to help things fall into place a little bit faster.

Thomas: Right. When I said that, I meant to be patient, right? And not expect anything too soon or at all.

Douglas: I love you both so much, you’re the best mom I know. And you’re the best dad I know. But together, well, you make each other better, ’cause that’s what family does. Right?

Finn: I swear to you, Mom, my family is the most important thing to me, and it is killing me that my wife and kids are so far away.

Li: It’s because of Sheila. Steffy loves you, she wants to come home, I know that.

Finn: You need to understand though, Mom, I am barely functioning here. I mean, I can’t sleep, my heart aches, I love Steffy. Okay? I love her. She needs to be home with me, where she belongs. This place, it’s just– it is so lonely without them. I need them back.

Li: I believe you can do it. Yes, you’re the only one that can get through to that woman.

Finn: I haven’t, um– I haven’t said this to anyone before, ’cause I’m kind of at a loss. But what happens, like– what if she won’t let go?

[ Tense instrumental ]

Li: You listen to me, your mother. I remember when you would have a science problem that would be hard to solve. Or a math theorem. You would go around and around, look at– looking at it from every angle, looking for that weak spot where you can just dig into, and expand. That’s what you’ll do. You’re going to think outside of the box like you always have, and then you’ll find the answer.

Finn: You’re right. You’re absolutely right. I have to. I don’t know how I’m gonna make that happen, but I’m gonna figure it out. I’m not gonna risk losing my family.

Sheila: So, this is it, huh? It’s– it’s over?

Deacon: God, this is– this is hard. There’s a part of me– there’s a big part of me that doesn’t want to let you walk out that door. I just love being with you. And you’re not like anyone I’ve ever met before. You’re unique and mesmerizing and… deliciously dangerous. But Sheila, for the first time in my life, I feel like I’m making something of myself. When I look in the mirror, I don’t see some loser staring back at me. And the restaurant’s rocking and rolling, and Hope, she– she respects me. My daughter– my daughter loves me. You can’t know what that–

Sheila: No, I– I do know.

Deacon: Yeah. Yeah, I guess you do. I– I can’t– I can’t mess this up, and I can’t let it go. You know, she wants to be with me, when she looks at me, it’s like– it’s like the greatest feeling in the world, you heard her. She– she wants to be with me. She wants to have dinner with me. The grandkids wanna see me. Why would I take a chance on losing that?

Sheila: You can’t. You can’t risk it. I want to be with you, too. I– I don’t want this to end, but I am so grateful for every moment I got to spend with you. Everything that you did for me. You’re incredible. And I– I don’t just mean in bed. [ Chuckles ] You’ve really shown me that it is possible to change. I mean, to earn a spot in your friends’ and family’s lives. And I– I and I can only hope that– that that really might happen for me. It’s what I want with Finn. And I– I can make that happen. I know I can, but– but even so, I– I’m so proud of you… and everything that you have accomplished, I just– I want you to have it all.

Deacon: I want you to have it, too, Sheila.

Sheila: Thank you. Thank you. I think I will. I see what you share with your daughter, and I– I hope that I have that with my son, it’s what I really want with my son, and I can make that happen. I know that I can, I– I see what you’ve done with Hope. What you’ve accomplished. I hope I might make Finn see me the way that she sees you. [ Laughs ] It– it sounds so crazy.

Deacon: No, hey, we don’t– we don’t like that word, remember?

Sheila: Yeah. You know what? Yeah, you’re right. You’re– you’re right, we don’t. But you’ve given me faith, Deacon. You’ve given me faith that this can happen. I know I can make it happen. You will be with your daughter and grandchildren. And I will be with Finn and Hayes.

[ Sheila laughs ]

Li: Listen to me. There is nothing more important for you to understand. Stay focused, you cannot give in to Sheila ever again.

Sheila: I have never been more determined about anything in my life. And you know me, when I put my mind to something I make it happen. And seeing you, your relationship with Hope, it is– it has truly inspired me. I am going to have the relationship with Finn that I’ve longed for. I can just– I can just feel it.

Recap written by Suzanne

At Forrester, Hope and Thomas reassure Douglas that they’ll always love him, no matter what. Thomas thanks him for knowing that he has changed. They each hug Douglas.

Li visits Finn at home to try to get him to get rid of Sheila permanently. Finn tells her that he’s been having video calls with Steffy and the kids, but he really misses them. However, he’s unnerved by what Li’s hinting at, especially when she says that he should have let Sheila die when he had the chance. He assures Li that she is his mom and always will be.

Deacon and Sheila continue to make out. He keeps saying that what they’re doing is wrong, and he could lose Hope, and his restaurant, but he keeps giving in to her embraces. She talks about how she will get Finn back again. Deacon tries to make her see the reality of the situation, to no avail. Hope drops by while Deacon and Sheila are kissing on the couch. She knocks on the door. Deacon is shocked when Hope starts to open the door.

Douglas: I hate seeing you so sad, Mom. If you could find a way to give Dad another chance, I know we would make a happy family.

Hope: Sweetheart…

Finn: Come on in. Um, you want something to drink?

Li: Oh, no. I’m good, thanks.

Finn: So, um, what brings you by?

Li: What, I can’t come and check on my son?

Finn: No, of course you can. Thanks, it’s, um– it’s good to see you. This– this house has been pretty quiet.

Li: Have you talked to Steffy?

Finn: Yeah. Yeah, of course. She’s my wife, I talk to the kids and her as much as possible. I just– I miss ’em so much, it hurts, you know.

Li: Well, to think this is all because of Sheila.

Deacon: I’m so, so sorry. We can’t do this.

Sheila: You know what? Your words are saying that, but your body is saying something different.

Deacon: No, no, no, no. Sheila, no. Come on. This is– this is wrong. I gotta–

Sheila: What? Be a good boy?

Deacon: Yes!

Sheila: That’s too bad because I like you so much better when you’re naughty.

Li: How does Steffy seem when you talk to her?

Finn: I don’t know. Um… I mean, I wouldn’t– I wouldn’t say distant, but it’s a little tough to gauge. It’s also difficult to have a real conversation when the kids are on the call.

Li: Then you must make time for just you and Steffy. You can’t get complacent now, Finn. Not if you want the situation to be temporary.

Finn: No, I’m– I’m– I’m not, Mom. Okay, Steffy knows how much I love her and I know that she loves me, too.

Li: Then remind her of that. Make sure she knows that you’ll keep Sheila out of your lives, so she feels safe to come home. Finn, you have to know that any contact with Sheila right now will drive Steffy away for good.

Sheila: Wow.

Deacon: What?

Sheila: You are wow. I do want you to know, though, I– I do understand the dilemma, the situation. It– it’s not easy for you.

Deacon: You know, for the first time in a long time, Sheila, I’ve got something to lose. But that doesn’t mean I don’t care about you.

Sheila: Yeah, I know. I know you’ve– you have done so much for me time and time again, I don’t even deserve it. And it means so much to me. You mean so much to me.

Deacon: Sheila, if anyone finds out about us, I’m done. I could lose Hope. I could lose my daughter.

Hope: What do you say we get out of here, grab a bite to eat?

Douglas: Can Dad come?

Hope: Why don’t you ask him yourself? He’s standing right behind you.

Douglas: How long have you been standing there?

Thomas: Just a minute.

Douglas: Heard what I said?

Thomas: Yeah. I don’t deserve such an amazing kid. Thank you for saying what you did. Thank you for believing in me, having faith. I did things in the past and things you shouldn’t forgive me for, but you are somehow able to look past them. I think that’s beautiful. I’m so grateful for you. And to hear you say that I’ve moved past those things, become a better person? You have no idea what that means to me. Come on.

Thomas: Thanks, bud. Hearing you say that, you believe I’ve changed, it means so much to me. You’re my son. Being a father to you is the most important thing in the world. I love you so much.

Douglas: I love you too, Dad. You’re a good dad. You’ve changed. I believe it.

Hope: That’s an important lesson to learn in life, right? No matter how old you are that you can be capable of growing and changing situations in your life and yourself. You can find forgiveness.

Douglas: That’s what I asked Mommy to do. To find some forgiveness, for you, so we could all be a family.

Thomas: Yeah, look, I promise, I– I didn’t–

Douglas: Don’t worry, Dad. I made sure Mommy knew that you didn’t ask me to say any of those things. I thought of it all on my own.

Thomas: Yeah.

Hope: Well, of course you did because you are very, very smart.

Douglas: I hate that Mommy’s so sad. I know she’s unhappy because Liam left. But we can fix that as a family. Right, Dad?

[ Thomas chuckling ]

Sheila: Hey, I probably understand better than anyone this relationship that you have with Hope. The love and– and connection because that’s what I feel with Finn.

Deacon: Okay, Sheila, there’s some fundamental differences between your relationship with Finn and my relationship with Hope.

Sheila: No, you still had to– to fight for that love and acceptance just like I am right now with Finn.

Deacon: Okay. That’s– that’s true. But I– I didn’t have quite the uphill climb. I mean, there’s that little incident with you shooting Finn and his wife. There’s that.

Sheila: You keep saying that, but it was an accident.

Deacon: Your version of accidents can be lethal.

Sheila: I would never intentionally hurt my son. And one day, he’s gonna realize that. He’s going to know how much I love him. I’m– I’m not walking away from him, Deacon. And I don’t think he wants me to. And with Steffy gone, out of the picture. I will be in my son’s life.

Li: I don’t blame Steffy for leaving. Sheila showing up at your doorstep whenever she feels like it? That has to be terrifying.

Finn: Look, I’ve told her I’ll cut Sheila completely out of my life, okay? I’ve– I’ve told Sheila the same thing.

Li: She won’t listen to you, Finn. You’re a smart man. You’re a doctor, for God’s sake. You had to know that opening up to Sheila would be completely intolerable to Steffy. To make it worse, you gave Sheila hope. She now thinks that she has a chance to have a relationship with you.

Finn: I won’t allow it. She got the message. I– I promise you.

Li: Please. She’s never going to walk away from you. No, you have to do something. You have to take matters into your own hands.

Finn: What are you suggesting?

Li: You have to shut her down, Finn. You have to do something that guarantees Steffy that she will never have to worry about Sheila ever again.

Thomas: Look, I– I love that you think I can make your mom happy and that we can be a family, right? But Mom’s got a lot going on right now, right? So, we don’t want to put any extra pressure on her.

Hope: Oh, it’s all right. Sweetie, it’s all right. I can hear how much this means to you and I would never dismiss that. And I know how much you love your dad and me.

[ Phone dinging ]

Hope: Oh, shoot.

Thomas: You got a meeting?

Hope: Uh, not exactly. I actually was going to stop by my dad’s, but it– it can wait.

Thomas: No, no. You should go. Douglas and I will be fine. Right, bud?

Douglas: Yeah, I’m fine.

Hope: Yeah? Okay. Well, I love you and no matter what happens, we will always be a family, okay?

Finn: What exactly do you mean? I have to guarantee that Steffy will never have to worry about Sheila again?

Li: Well, you already had one opportunity to let Sheila die. You saved her life.

Finn: I had to save her like I would any other patient.

Li: Except Sheila wasn’t just any other patient. It was personal. You can’t lie to me, Finn. I know you too well because I raised you.

Finn: First, do no harm. That’s what doctors pledge. If I would have let her die, that would have gone against everything that I stand for. That’s how you raised me. It would have made me a monster.

Li: It would have made you a hero. Now, do you want to save your marriage?

Finn: Of course, I want to save my marriage. Like, what kind of question is that?

Li: Then, you have to take action. You have to find a way to convince Steffy that Sheila will never be a threat again because if you don’t, Steffy will never come back. You will lose your wife and your children forever.

Sheila: Look, nothing is standing in my way now. With Steffy out of the picture, there are no more obstacles.

Deacon: Come on, babe. Didn’t Finn tell you that he never wanted to see you again?

Sheila: It’s only because she was standing right there.

Deacon: I think you need to start listening to what he’s saying. Hear him. He’s gonna choose his wife and family over you every time. He loves her.

Sheila: He loves me. We have an unbreakable bond. I could feel it when he held me, when he had me in his arms. I didn’t force him to do that, Deacon. He did that because he wanted to because I’m his mother. I can see the love that he has for me every time I look into his eyes. I’m not imagining that.

Deacon: Look. I have no doubt that the guy’s conflicted. I mean, how could he not be? You are his mother. But he’s gonna choose his wife and his family first and you have to know that.

Sheila: No, no, she left, she took the kids and she left. She left him.

Deacon: Because you pushed her away.

Sheila: No, I didn’t. She doesn’t love him the way that she should. Not the way that I do. I– I don’t– I don’t make Finn fight for my love and affection the way that Steffy does. I can only imagine the pain that Finn is feeling this very moment. But he doesn’t have to. He doesn’t have to because he’s got me. He’s got his mother.

Li: You have to fight, Finn. You have to fight for your family! Fight for Steffy!

Finn: I am trying.

Li: You try harder!

Finn: I am doing everything that I can to get through to her, to convince her to come home. And you know what, I am not gonna give up.

Li: Those are just words, Finn. You need to go to her.

Finn: Well, she doesn’t want me to.

Li: And why do you think that is? Because of Sheila. You cannot let that woman destroy your life, Finn, and she will because she destroys everything she touches! I don’t care if she gave birth to you. She is not your mother. I am. I’m the one who rocked you to sleep and read you bedtime stories. I was the one who took you to your soccer games and wiped your tears when you fell. I’m the one who held you with love and comforted you when you had your first broken heart. I pushed you to be the best man you can be. Pushed you in school. Helped you become an accomplished doctor. That was me.

Finn: I know that, okay? And I would never, ever minimize what you did in my life, okay?

Li: That woman–

Finn: No, listen to me. I love you. You are my mother in every sense of the word.

Li: That woman has zero claim to you. She has zero claim to you and your heart. That love is mine.

Finn: I know. I know that, okay? And I love you. I love you so much.

Li: Then, how can you let her in? How can you even consider an opening for her?

Finn: Mom, I didn’t, okay? I didn’t want her here. I didn’t invite her over when Steffy saw her. I had no idea that she was gonna show up, okay? She just came on her own.

Li: You opened the doors with your thank yous and your embraces. Call her Mom. She’ll be back. It makes me sick! She will never keep her distance as long as she knows that you love her. So, Finn, you have to dig deep in your heart. Dig deep and find that twisted connection you have with her and you cut that cord forever.

Deacon: You okay?

Sheila: Yeah. I’m sorry, I just– sometimes, I– I just, I love Finn so much, I get desperate for him to see it. I’m not gonna give up, deacon. I– I’m so close to a breakthrough. I really feel it. He’s so smart and– and he’s– he’s brave and– and talented.

Deacon: Don’t forget trustworthy, handsome, loyal, honest.

Sheila: Is it so wrong for a mother to– to admire the son that she loves more than anything in this world?

Deacon: Admire? Okay, let’s go with that. No, it’s not wrong at all.

Sheila: Come on, you– you admire Hope. You respect all the accomplishments that she’s made. Why– why is that so different than what I feel for Finn?

Deacon: You’re right. I do love Hope. I love her more than anything, which is why I’m not sure that we can keep doing this, Sheila. The stakes are too high. If Brooke or Hope find out about us, they’re gonna have nothing to do with me. And, you know, now it’s like I’ve got something to lose. I mean, I could lose the restaurant. All my life, I’ve been looking for shortcuts, you know? Trying to find the angle. Not this time, not with Il Giardino. You wouldn’t want me to lose that, would you? Would you?

Sheila: No, of course I wouldn’t.

Deacon: You know, Hope’s going through a really rough time right now. She needs me and, you know, I haven’t always been there for her as a father, but I am now and I can’t mess this up. I did– I can’t– I can’t take a chance.

Sheila: So, uh, what are you saying, Daddy?

Deacon: I think you know.

[ Knocking on door ]

Hope: Dad? It’s me. Hollis said you were up here.

Deacon: Oh, my God.

Hope: Dad. Are you home?

Thomas: These numbers for Hope For The Future are still coming in strong… and Carter, with that Paris deal he just closed, I mean, that’s gonna blow up our exposure even more.

Hope: Well, I mean, what do you think of Katie’s idea about meeting with leading climate experts? You know, utilizing upcycling, reducing our material waste?

Thomas: I mean, we could just put some focus into the recycling program we already have. Tell people to send their old clothes in, we’ll recycle them for you. I think it’s a brilliant idea.

Hope: Well, you are a brilliant designer, so… speaking of brilliant designers, your dad and Eric. Uh, what do we think about that fashion showdown?

Thomas: [ Laughs ] Well, I don’t know. It doesn’t make any sense, to me, at least. I mean, why– why focus on Couture when– when Dad’s already got that, right? But also, Hope For The Future is what’s blowing up. Why not put our energy into that?

Carter: So, you and Eric will be in competition with each other.

Ridge: Yeah. The plan is to preview two Couture lines, and the buyers will determine the winner.

Carter: Hm. And you think that’s gonna be you.

Ridge: Carter. Come on, man.

[ Both chuckling ]

Ridge: Ever since I looked through that magic keyhole in Rome, I feel inspired.

Carter: Ah, inspired by Brooke. I’m glad I forced you to look through that keyhole.

Ridge: Me, too.

Carter: In terms of the competition, Ridge, we have a lot of logistics to work through, but… when it comes to your son… RJ’s working with Eric now. How do you feel about it?

Brooke: Well, well, well. I can see that you and Eric have been hard at work.

RJ: Oh, yeah. Yeah, it’s been awesome. I’m, uh… I definitely feel very lucky to work with him.

Brooke: Yeah. I heard about the showdown.

RJ: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: You sure you wanna go through with that?

RJ: Granddad’s set on it, I’m excited about it and may the best man win. It’s gonna be fun, I think. I don’t know.

[ Brooke chuckles wryly ]

Brooke: Yeah. Just, uh… I’m a little nervous about it.

RJ: Why? Why are you nervous? Oh, I know why. You’re nervous that Granddad’s gonna wipe the floor with Dad? It’s okay. I understand.

Brooke: Uh, no. I would never underestimate Eric Forrester, and I certainly do believe in your talents.

RJ: Thank you.

Brooke: It’s just that I’m afraid this preview might pit father against son.

RJ: I– I agree. It does feel weird to be working for Forrester and not to be working with Dad. I mean, I always thought if I did end up working here, we’d be working together, not against each other.

Brooke: Yeah. That’s what he thought, too.

RJ: Yeah.

Brooke: But he’s happy that you’re designing at all.

RJ: He told me that. We had a really good talk, and he said that.

Brooke: Oh, good. I’m glad. Because you know you’re very special to him, right? He loves you very much.

Katie: I’m not opposed to any of it but– oh! Ah, good, you’re both here. I just came from seeing Carter, and he has a meeting with Ridge. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the head of publicity doesn’t know anything about this fashion showdown. And, to be clear, the head of publicity is me. I don’t like being the last to know — it makes my job very hard.

Donna: And don’t forget, RJ’s also designing with Eric.

Katie: And that. I need to get out in front of this thing… put the proper spin on it. So, is it really happening?

Carter: Ridge, you’ve always wanted RJ to start designing for the family company.

Ridge: Yes, that’s been the plan for a long time.

Carter: Right, but he’s not working with you. He’s designing with Eric.

Ridge: Carter, he’s designing. All right? That’s good. He’ll work with me soon enough.

Carter: It is good, but it has to be a bit of a blow, right? He chose your father over you.

Hope: This is stunning, Thomas. I mean, this dress is going to have so much movement.

Thomas: Yeah. Actually, I did wanna do something new with it, so can you hand me a pencil?

Hope: Sure.

Douglas: Oh, hey, Mom! Hi, Dad! Pam said you were in here.

Hope: Sweetheart, w– what–

Thomas: Yeah, no. What are you doing here? I thought I was supposed to pick you up from Mom’s later.

Douglas: I wanted to talk to Mom about something.

Thomas: Okay. Uh, what’s up?

Hope: Yeah. Douglas, what’s going on?

Katie: So, Eric is working here because he thinks Ridge is trying to push him out of the company?

Donna: Well, Eric definitely feels that Ridge is not supportive of his need to design.

Brooke: Ridge just thinks his dad shouldn’t have to concern himself doing a whole new collection. I mean, think about the stress involved.

RJ: And that’s where I come in, though. I mean, I– I’ve been supporting him, and it’s been going okay. I mean, I think– I think it’s fine.

Brooke: Yeah, I know he appreciates it.

Donna: Eric treasures working with his grandson. And RJ– RJ’s innately talented. And I’m sure his contribution to this collection is gonna make a huge impact.

RJ: Yeah, he’s had a huge impact on me. I mean, his– his passion for this has made me realize that I have a passion for design. I– I will do whatever it takes to make this happen.

Ridge: You know what, Carter? You’re right. This is not the way I wanted RJ to start his career at Forrester. I thought it was gonna be me and my two boys working together. And that will happen. But I– [ Sighs ] RJ, he’s really, really good. He’s really talented.

Carter: You’ve told him that?

Ridge: ‘Course I told him that. I love him, I support him. And as soon as I win this little fashion battle, I– we’re gonna do something together, something special.

Carter: That’s very humble of you to say.

Ridge: I don’t have to be humble. I earned this. I earned my place. I’ve learned a lot from my dad, but I’m not afraid to go against him. Not for a long time.

Carter: Ridge, there’s no question that you earned this, but don’t count out the great Eric Forrester.

Hope: Is everything okay?

Douglas: Yeah. There’s just a lot going on. Never feel like I can talk about it around Beth. So, I had Ben’s mom come drop me off here.

Thomas: Did you wanna talk to your mom alone?

Douglas: Yeah.

Thomas: Okay. No worries. I will leave you to it, but just let me know if you need anything.

Hope: All right, come on. Let’s sit down so we can talk. What’s going on? You know you can talk to me about anything, right?

Douglas: I know. I’m just worried about you. I can see that Liam moving out makes you sad.

Hope: Well, honey, I am sad about what’s happening between Liam and me, but… that’s life. Sometimes things just don’t work out the way you want them to. But, hey, you have nothing to be concerned about, okay? I’m the mom here, anyways. You aren’t supposed to be worrying about me.

Douglas: You’re the best, Mom. I love you and Beth so much. We were a family with Liam.

Hope: Yeah, we were.

Douglas: And I was just thinking maybe we could be a family again with Dad.

Hope: Douglas, where is this coming from?

Douglas: I promise Dad didn’t ask me to say anything to you about us being a family. I know that’s something he might’ve done in the past.

Hope: Oh, sweetie. Your dad has done a lot of work on himself to become a better man, a better father to you. He’s proven that people can change, and I hope you always believe that too. He loves you so much, and so do I, so don’t ever doubt that.

Douglas: I don’t. I love you both, too. That’s why I had this idea. I hate seeing you so sad. You deserve to be happy all the time. And I know Dad loves you. Maybe you love him?

Hope: Douglas, feelings can be complicated sometimes, especially when it comes to love.

Douglas: I just think that if you gave Dad another chance, he could make you happy again. We could all be happy together.

Katie: RJ is on his way to the office. I told him not to talk to the press under any circumstances. Honestly, I’d like to keep this under wraps for as long as we can.

Brooke: Okay. Sounds like the right thing to do. And who knows? Maybe it won’t even happen at all, which might be the best.

Katie: So, you think that because Ridge and Eric don’t want to work together, it might cause tension between the two of them?

Brooke: Well, and for RJ and Ridge as well.

Donna: Okay, the way I understood is Ridge didn’t wanna work with Eric. He basically pushed him out, didn’t wanna listen to his ideas and Eric got offended. Felt like he was getting put out to pasture.

Brooke: What? No! No, that was not his intention at all.

Donna: Well, that’s the way it came across. Anyway, I don’t even understand why Ridge is so adamant about Eric retiring. He should want to work with him. You know, maybe– maybe even give his old office back. Collaborate with him on this collection like he wanted to.

Brooke: Eric was the one who shut him down.

Katie: Why can’t Ridge just give him this collection? I mean, God knows he’s earned it. He’s the founder of the company.

Brooke: Yes, but Ridge is the head of the Couture line, and that line is doing so well. So is Hope For The Future. And the bottom line is, Ridge is CEO. He runs the company. He makes the decisions.

Thomas: So, Granddad’s still, um, wanting to do his own new collection, huh? This whole fashion showdown thing, I just– I don’t get it.

Ridge: Well, he’s not backing down, so I won’t either.

RJ: Hey.

Thomas: Hey, look. It is Forrester Creations’ new fashion designer.

RJ: You heard?

Thomas: I did. Yeah. Although, we haven’t had an initiation quite yet.

RJ: Oh, I think I’ll skip the cloaks and the candles for now. I’m just here picking up some supplies. I’ll be out of your hair in a second, okay?

Thomas: Some supplies for Granddad?

RJ: Yep.

Thomas: Okay. Well, you know, Dad and I were actually just talking about this whole fashion showdown thing. Um… do you really think that’s a good idea?

RJ: Yeah, I think it’s a good idea. I wouldn’t be working on it if I didn’t.

Thomas: Sure. Yeah. Um… but look… Dad has, uh, been working really hard and killing it with Couture. And Hope and I are doing a great job with Hope For The Future. Maybe, we should focus on what’s working, right?

RJ: Well, Thomas, you’re just assuming that what Granddad’s working on isn’t going to work. I mean, I’ve seen how this thing’s progressed. It’s incredible. He’s never done designs like this before in his life.

Thomas: Yeah, he’s never done designs like this with your help.

RJ: Yeah, it’s with my help. I’m learning a lot from him, though.

Thomas: Yeah, no. And there’s– definitely there’s a learning curve to this job, a hundred percent. But look, um… the things that we’ve been working on, they’re doing really well. We wanna continue on that direction. I mean, I think that Dad and I don’t think that what Granddad’s bringing is really in keeping with the direction we wanna take the company.

RJ: The direction that you and Dad want to take the company? You really think that that should trump the fact that Eric Forrester created the company and that he’s the heart and soul of everything that goes on around here?

Thomas: No.

RJ: Whatever direction that you guys are taking the company, you’re doing it on Eric Forrester’s legacy.

Hope: Sweetheart… I love that you care so much about our family.

Douglas: You’re my mom. I want you to be happy.

Hope: Well, you make me very, very happy. You know that, don’t you? And I appreciate your support. But no worrying about me, okay? Mommy’s strong. She’s gonna be just fine.

Douglas: I know, but I also believe that Dad could make you feel better. Maybe not so sad? I’m a pretty good judge of character.

Hope: Yeah, you are, aren’t you?

Douglas: Look, Dad wasn’t always the best dad. He made mistakes. But like you said, he’s not like that anymore. I don’t know if you’ll ever be able to completely forgive him for everything he’s done, but I really love seeing you so, if you could find a way to forgive him, even just a little bit, I know we would make a great family. And we could make your sadness go away.

Katie: Eric founded Forrester Creations. His sense of timeless style has defined the company since the very beginning.

Brooke: I don’t disagree, and in no way am I trying to diminish all of the wonderful things that he’s done for the company

Donna: Really, Brooke? Just the company? He transformed the entire fashion industry. Okay? His designs are iconic.

Brooke: Of course that’s true. But all things must pass. And we’re not trying to be cruel here, Donna. It’s just that I do agree with Ridge. It is time for Eric to put down the pencil and enjoy his life. Why should he carry the burden of creating a whole new collection? And you know what? That’s what people are gonna remember. His last act. So, why would he risk it? Why would he risk his entire legacy for that?

Donna: Oh. Okay, I get it. You don’t think he can win, do you? In fact, you don’t think that Eric stands a chance against Ridge?

Brooke: Forrester Creations was defined by Eric. But now it’s defined by Ridge.

RJ: Dad, you didn’t have to ask Thomas to leave. I mean, I know he has a different opinion than me, even though it’s the wrong opinion.

Ridge: I thought the two of us should talk.

RJ: I know what you’re gonna say, that you agree with him. Dad, you haven’t seen Granddad creating recently. I mean, he’s full of passion and energy.

Ridge: No, I’ve seen him–

RJ: It’s intoxicating!

Ridge: Yes, I get it. I get it. I appreciate how loyal you are towards him.

RJ: I feel like if Granddad wants to make one final grand finale collection. I feel like he should be able to do it without having to beg you to do it. I mean, isn’t that degrading? Imagine if someone made you do that?

Ridge: Degrading? I’m the CEO of this company. It’s my job to oversee all the lines and see what sells. It’s what I do.

RJ: I know. I just… Granddad, he just, he really wants to create. And he– and he’s full of these great ideas, and he– I just think that if you supported him, and you gave him the budget to finish it, I mean, I feel like that’s just the right thing to do.

Ridge: Well, we’re gonna– we’re gonna settle this on the runway.

RJ: Yeah? I mean, that means you and I are gonna be competing.

Ridge: That’s okay. Get to see what you’ve got.

RJ: Oh, yeah? Same here. Curious.

[ Ridge laughs ]

Ridge: Hey, let me ask you something.

RJ: Yeah?

Ridge: Ever since you came back, I’ve been wanting you to work here and the answer was always no. But now you’re working with Granddad, so somewhere along the way, the answer became yes. Why is that? What am I missing?

Eric: What’s wrong with my hand? I can’t– I can’t grip a pencil. I can’t design. And if I can’t do that, it’s pretty much game over for my career. Unless you can help me.

RJ: Right now, I just want to be there for Granddad. And I just wanna help him in any way that I can ’cause I love him. Don’t get me wrong. I love you, too.

Ridge: And I love you.

Daytime Soap Opera Short Recaps

Recap written by Suzanne

The Forresters and Logans continue to argue about whether Ridge should let Eric does his grand finale designs as they prepare for the fashion showdown. At Forrester Creations, Thomas agrees with Hope that they should concentrate on Hope For the Future and the other parts of the company that are doing well. Douglas drops by to try to convince Hope to forgive Thomas so that they might be a family again, since she’s so sad about Liam’s leaving. She tells him not to worry about it. Thomas hears the tale end of their chat, when Douglas talks about how Thomas has changed and asks her to forgive him.

Carter wonders if Ridge is upset about RJ working with Eric instead of him. Ridge claims he’s not, although he didn’t foresee what happened. He’s just happy that RJ is designing, and he knows that someday, they’ll work together as well. Ridge talks about how much Brooke inspires him. He’s convinced that he will easily beat Eric.

At the Forrester mansion, Brooke is worried that Ridge and RJ will be competing against each other, but RJ assures her that he knows his dad loves him and is proud of him. Katie and Donna walk in. Katie is a bit peeved that no one told her about the fashion showdown, since she’s head of publicity. The Logan sisters discuss what’s going on. Brooke takes Ridge’s side, and Donna takes Eric’s side, naturally. Katie is still deciding but seems to be on Eric’s side.

In Ridge’s office, Thomas tells Ridge that he doesn’t understand why they’re doing the fashion showdown. Ridge tells him that neither he nor Eric is backing down. RJ comes in, so Thomas congratulates him for being the newest fashion designer of the company. RJ is there to pick up some supplies for Eric. Thomas asks him if he thinks the showdown is a good idea. He takes Ridge’s side, and RJ stands up for Eric, saying that his new designs are incredible. He reminds them that Eric started the company and is the heart and soul of it.

Ridge and RJ are left alone. They only argue for a minute. Ridge assures him that they’ll settle things on the runway. He wonders why RJ told Eric he would work with him, when he’d always turned Ridge down. RJ has a flashback to Eric telling him that he couldn’t grip a pencil or draw any more, so he needs RJ’s help.  RJ just tells Ridge that he wants to be there for his granddad because he loves him. He and Ridge tell each other, “I love you” and then hug.

Daytime Soap Opera Short Recaps

Recap written by Suzanne

At Forrester, Brooke and RJ worry about Ridge’s reaction to RJ designing with Eric, but Ridge tells them that he is very happy that RJ is designing. They hug. Later, Ridge tells RJ that he’s worried about Eric and that he thinks he should be enjoying his life rather than working. RJ tells Ridge that he shouldn’t worry because Eric isn’t ready to retire.

At home, Donna tells Eric how much she loves seeing him in his element. She worries about his hand tremors and asks him if he told Ridge about them. He tells her that he didn’t. Only she, RJ and his doctor know. Carter visits and asks about Eric’s grand finale. He puts forth his concern for the company, but he makes it clear that he’s not siding with Ridge. Eric thinks that Carter will have fewer concerns once he sees the collection.

Also at Forrester, Thomas and Hope are basking in the after-glow (mostly clothed) when Brooke walks in. She is disgusted and gives them a lecture, but Hope tells her, basically, to mind her own business.

Transcript provided by and proofread by Suzanne

[ Gentle music playing ]

Brooke: Honey, I am so thrilled that you started to design, and so is your father. I just don’t want working with Eric to cause tension for your dad and your granddad. I know how you don’t like family drama.

RJ: This is Granddad we’re talking about. This isn’t– there’s no reason my dad should be upset or concerned.

Ridge: Oh, there’s my son. The person I wanted to talk to. I understand you’re working with Granddad.

RJ: Yeah. Well, I mean, I wanted to tell you, but he– he wanted to keep it all between us, so.

Brooke: I don’t think they were trying to keep secrets.

Ridge: I don’t think they were trying to tell me either. There’s only one thing I gotta say to you, son. I am so, so happy you’re designing. Welcome to Forrester. Good luck to you.

[ RJ Laughs ]

Donna: I love seeing you like this, in your element.

Eric: I haven’t felt this fulfilled in a long time. Professionally, I mean. I’m so excited. Putting this line together… doing all this with RJ? It’s wonderful. It’s– it’s really wonderful. Then, of course, having you in my arms is pretty good, too.

Donna: I– I saw Ridge here earlier. Does he share your enthusiasm?

Eric: Well…

[ Knocking on door ]

Eric: It’s open.

Carter: Hey.

Donna: Hi.

Eric: Carter.

Carter: Hi, Donna. Eric, I have the paperwork from the Paris deal. It needs your approval ASAP. You really turned this place into a makeshift studio, huh?

Eric: I wanted some place private to design.

Carter: You’re starting a new collection? Your grand finale?

Hope: I, um… I locked that door, right?

Thomas: Yeah. Yeah, that was right before you took your clothes off in front of me. Yeah, I don’t think this office is ever gonna feel the same again. Is this really happening? I’m just– for a long time, I waited for this.

Hope: Worth the wait?

Thomas: You’re so beautiful. I never knew it could be like this.

Hope: I just… I want to make sure that you understand where my head is at right now.

Thomas: I’m good.

Hope: It’s not love for me yet. I mean, I– I’m not ready and I just, I want to make sure that you understand that.

Thomas: I know.

Hope: It may never be.

Thomas: And I know that, too.

Hope: So, are you really okay with this, then?

Thomas: As long as you’re in my arms, I’m fine.

Donna: So, I guess Brooke told you.

Carter: I ran into her and RJ at the office.

Donna: Well, you know, I could see her being surprised, but there’s really no reason for her to be upset.

Carter: That’s not the impression I was getting. I am curious, though. Why do you feel the need to go off on your own? If this is your final collection, why design it all by yourself?

Eric: I’m not all by myself. I’m doing this with my talented and loyal grandson.

RJ: Dad, I know you’ve been wanting me to design since, like, forever, but you’re– you’re not upset that I’m working with Granddad, right?

Brooke: I was saying to RJ how I don’t want there to be issues because he’s working with your father and not with you… but there’s not gonna be any problems. I mean, you do agree with that, don’t you?

Brooke: Well, I’m gonna go so you can have a chat.

Ridge: You don’t have to leave.

Brooke: I think I should. You need to talk to your son alone, designer-to-designer. Bye, honey.

RJ: Love you, Mom.

Brooke: Love you. Just remember, you both love each other.

Ridge: Bye.

Brooke: Bye.

RJ: Well, Dad, honestly, um, designer-to-designer… I’m not sure I’m ready to carry the title of that yet.

Ridge: Working with your granddad, that won’t take too long.

RJ: I’m learning so much from him. He’s really letting me express my own ideas, too.

Ridge: You couldn’t find a better mentor.

RJ: Wait, so you agree? You think that it’s a good thing that I’m working with Granddad? Right? Because I mean, honestly, I feel lucky that he’s even taking me underneath his wing. It’s great.

Ridge: I agree, and it’s great, and yes, you’re lucky.

Ridge: So, you’re happy for me.

Ridge: I’m happy for you, and I’m happy for me. Following in my footsteps.

RJ:  Just like you followed in Granddad’s.

Ridge: Speaking of Granddad, I’m worried about him.

Carter: Eric. I understand why this collection is so important to you.

Eric: You do?

Carter: I do. But my job is to make sure things run smoothly within our company. Our image as a cohesive family-run organization is as important as the product we put out. Now, control of Forrester Creations and the design talent in your family being passed down from one generation to another, Eric, that’s our huge selling point. That makes us unique.

Eric: And so the older generation is expected to stand aside for the younger generation, and let them take over? I mean, is that what you think? I think that’s probably what Ridge thinks, as well.

Carter: That– that’s not what I think, and I’m sure Ridge is just concerned.

Eric: Concerned about what? About me? About my, uh, about my abilities?

Carter: No, no. No one’s doubting your expertise. That would be foolish. Your career and your accomplishments: they speak for themselves. Starting a new couture line that can be viewed as competing with the one Ridge is producing, Eric… that is risky.

Eric: Do you think I’m afraid of a little risk? Carter, that was the whole beginning of my business– was taking a risk. You didn’t think I had the confidence to take that– that leap of faith? We all choose our own paths, and I trust mine, and you can trust it, too.

Carter: And there’s no way you can work on this project with Ridge?

Eric: Not with Ridge. I’m doing this alone. Ridge and I are going head to head in a competition on the runway.

Thomas: You know, this newfound change in you is, uh, unexpected.

Hope: Hm. Well, I guess I’m just full of surprises then, aren’t I? You know, I just feel like something has lit up inside of me and, you know, it just feels very freeing.

Thomas: Hm. Yeah, I like to be the kind of person that can help you explore this newfound freedom.

Brooke: Sweetie, I have the sample– oh– oh, my god. Hope!

Carter: You and Ridge are competing against each other?

Eric: Yes. Not for the first time, but I think probably for the last.

Donna: Wait– wait a minute. When did this happen? Is this– is this what you and Ridge were talking about earlier when he came over?

Eric: Yes. Yes. I was about to tell you, and that’s when– that’s when Carter came in. Ridge and I are competing. Head to head. It’s a competition on the runway. Winner take all. And the buyers decide who that is.

Donna: Eric, I– I– I completely understand why you’d want to do this. I do, but… do you really want to put this much pressure on yourself?

Carter: Putting pressure on the company? Are you sure you want to go down that road?

Eric: I’ve never been more sure of anything. My collection will prevail.

Ridge: My dad. He’s worked for years and years to build this company. Built all this. You know why?

RJ: Why?

Ridge: So, we can stand on his shoulders.

RJ: But?

Ridge: No but. And.  And now it’s time for him to take a break, to take it easy, not to burn the midnight oil trying to come up with another line, another collection. What does he have to prove?

RJ: Nothing, he just– I feel like he has something to offer, okay? He has a vision. It’s a– it’s a great vision, Dad. Why do you want him to retire so bad?

Ridge: It’s not about him retiring. I want him to be happy. He’s made a mark in this business, a bigger mark than any of us could ever hope to make. Should be enough.

RJ: It’s not enough. Look, I– I know that you care about Granddad. I can see that and that you love him and that you just want what’s best for him. But I’ve– I’ve been spending a lot of time with him recently, and I think there’s a lot more going on there.

Ridge: What does that mean?

RJ: Grandad’s not ready to retire, okay? He’s not even close.

Ridge: I know. I can see that he wants to keep working, but he doesn’t want to work with me. He wants to work with you.

Hope: Gosh, Mom. It’s like you know when I’m with Thomas. We really have to work on your timing.

Brooke: I was looking for you because we have work to do, and I didn’t expect to find you here kissing Thomas and whatever else it was that you were doing.

Hope: Oh, come on, Mom. Like you and Ridge haven’t?

Brooke: This isn’t about me and Ridge. I am concerned because of things that have happened in the past, and I have every right to be concerned. So, why don’t you tell me? Where do things really stand for you and Thomas?

Hope: Mom, I love you and I know that you’re concerned, but we know what we’re doing.

Brooke: Do you?

Hope: Yes.

Brooke: Okay. So, all of a sudden, you’re in love with Thomas.

Hope: No, actually, but Thomas, he knows where I stand. I haven’t made any commitments or promises. We’re on the same page.

Brooke: And how do you feel about this? Oh, I’m sure you’re fine with it, right? I mean, you’ve been after my daughter for years.

Hope: Oh, my gosh, Mom, I’ve made this decision. Me, I want this, and I’ve made the rules and boundaries very clear.

Brooke: What about Liam? What about your family? I know you still love him, and I know you miss him and your life together.

Eric: Donna, was, uh, was Carter any more at ease with all this after you walked him out?

Donna: I’m not really so sure. I mean, he kind of plays things close to the vest.

Eric: Yeah, he does.

Donna: But I will have Katie investigate.

Eric: Good. Good.

Donna: But I do know he wants what’s best for the company and for you.

Eric: Well, any misgivings he has will disappear once he sees the collection.

Donna: I have no doubt.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Back to Ridge. Does he, um… I’m assuming you didn’t tell him about your hands? The tremors?

Eric: No, Donna, absolutely not. There’s no reason for him to know about it and I don’t want him to. The only people that know about this are– are you and me and– and RJ and my doctor. That’s all.

Donna: You know how much I love you, right?

Eric: Yeah, I do. You do a really good job letting me know that. Thank you.

Donna: I’m just so proud of you and I believe in you and what you’re doing here and your– your vision and…

Eric: I’m so excited about all this, and I know, in talking about it, I– I give RJ all this credit and– and it’s all about the ideas coming out of my head and everything. But you, you’re an absolute inspiration to me. You mean so much to me. Never doubt that.

Donna: I’m happy when you’re happy. You know, your enthusiasm is contagious.

Eric: Look at you.

Donna: It’s literally impossible to be around you and not– not get excited for whatever happens next. And I’m just so happy to be here to share it with you.

Eric: You know, I wasn’t lying when I said that you’re my muse. My muse. I mean, look at you. So beautiful. You’re so smart. You’re so smart. You’re funny. And you’re sexy, too. With your inspiration, I can– I can do anything. Whatever Ridge does, let him bring it on, can’t scare me. We’ll win this thing, and then we’ll have time for a martini after, I promise. Okay?

Donna: I love you. I love you so much.

Eric: That’s so good. Okay. Okay.

RJ: I know. I know you have some reservations about Granddad designing, but how do you– how do you feel about me working with him? Are you– are you okay with it? It’s a great opportunity, right?

Ridge: I’m more than okay with it. I love it. And I don’t know if I’ve ever said this to you, but I– I think you have more natural talent than any of us.

RJ: No pressure.

Ridge: No pressure. You know, being a dad, isn’t– it’s not easy. I’m… you always– you want what’s best for your kids. You want them to have a long and happy life, and you want them to choose their path, and I… I didn’t wanna push anyone, and Brooke may disagree. She thinks I pushed you too much to go a certain direction, but it’s because I saw what you could do as a kid when you were– you know, you were drawing stuff, and there was– there was emotion and movement. You can’t teach that. And yes, I wanted you to be a designer, I did, but you found your way here. You did this, into this building that bears your name. And you know, one day when I figure out things with Granddad, and I will, we– it’s gonna be okay. And then you and I, we’re gonna do something. We’re gonna do something magical together.

RJ: I’d be honored, Dad.

Ridge: I’d be honored. There’s something you always gotta remember. Remember how proud I am of you and– and how much I appreciate your talent and how much I love you.

RJ: Thanks, Dad.

Ridge: Come here.
