[ Relaxing music ]

Li: I’m glad to hear you talking like this. You can’t give into Sheila.

Finn: Of course, Mom. I’m not gonna risk losing my family. I mean, Sheila, she’s caused enough damage as it is. But listen, Mom, there’s something else I need you to know.

Sheila: So, we’re really doing this. We’re gonna end this?

Deacon: Yes.

[ Sheila sighing ]

Sheila: I– I don’t want to jeopardize your relationship with your daughter… The kind of relationship that I really hope that I’ll have one day with my son.

Hope: I still can’t believe you set this all up.

Thomas: You never stop amazing us.

Douglas: It was nothing, really. Gotta eat, right?

Hope: I think it’s a little more than just that.

Douglas: I wanted you guys to be happy. I still love you both so much, and I think you love each other too.

[ Thomas chuckling ]

Douglas: Madame.

Thomas: Wow.

Hope: Well, why thank you, good sir.

Thomas: Okay.

Douglas: Would you like a red or white with your meal?

Thomas: Well, I mean, I think that depends on what we’re having, so.

Douglas: The finest pizza and frites. [ Whispers ] French fries.

Hope: Oh. Okay, got it.

Thomas: Totally.

Hope: Well, those are my favorite. Come here, sweetie. You are so sweet. Thank you for doing all this.

Li: What do I need to know, Finn?

Finn: I just want to make sure that you realize how much I love and respect you. Okay? You’re my mom. This incredible woman who raised me with such love and support, and understanding, and consistency. You’re still doing it now. You’re– you’re coming over here, and you’re checking in on me — talking to me straight. I realize it must have really hurt when you heard that I called Sheila “Mom,” and I truly– I don’t know what came over me in that moment. I need you to know there is zero mistake when it comes to who made the man I am today, okay? And that’s you, okay? And I love you so much for that.

Li: Okay. So, Finn, you really haven’t had contact with Sheila?

Finn: See? Again with the straight talk, huh? No, Mom. Absolutely not. And once I figure out a way to get through to her, I plan on never seeing Sheila again.

Sheila: I understand you not wanting to threaten your relationship with your daughter. I feel the same way about my relationship with Finn.

Deacon: I–

Sheila: Whoa, whoa, whoa, stop. Stop, okay? Before you go and get all negative, I… I’m well aware that our situations are very different. — That I am determined to find a way to be a part of Finn’s life.

Hope: This just might be the best pizza I’ve ever had.

Thomas: Mm. It’s so crispy. And the cheese.

Douglas: I know you’re used to eating fancier foods, but pizza and fries was all I could get delivered in time.

Hope: Mm-mm. This is amazing. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thomas: Mm-hmm.

Douglas: Well, I should get going.

Thomas: Wait, what?

Hope: Where?

Douglas: Home. I told Aunt Donna I forgot some homework here. She’s on her way back from grabbing us some boba.

Hope: Your son. Wow. Wow. You really did think of everything, didn’t you?

Douglas: I wanted to give you two some time alone. It’s so good seeing my mom and dad laughing, smiling, enjoying a meal. No pressure, but this would be a dream come true: My parents together… all of us living as a happy family.

Hope: Wow. Come here, you.

Thomas: Good kid.

Finn: It’s obvious how upset you are, Mom. You can’t carry all this stress and anger about Sheila. I’m gonna handle it; I promise you.

Li: It’s not that. I mean, it is, it’s just… I just can’t stop thinking about the impact your father’s affair with Sheila had on all of us. It just cuts so deep.

Finn: Look, you know you could always talk to me about it.

Li: It’s such a dark, deep secret from me, yet it was so easy for him to hide it. Makes me wonder what else he hid from me. And the worse part? Jack was the one who brought Sheila into our lives, yet he defended himself. Said that, uh, if it weren’t for her, you wouldn’t be here. That I should find some way to be grateful for this sleazy affair behind my back. Adopting you, knowing that you were the product of his betrayal of our marriage…

Finn: I’m sorry, Mom. I’m sorry. I know.

Sheila: That’s why we’re– we’re doing this. That’s why– that’s why we’re ending it, right? Because we both want a long lasting relationship with our kids. I really, I really– I don’t want this to end.

Deacon: Me, either. But just, I can’t mess things up with Hope.

Sheila: Yeah, and I, you know, I do want a relationship with– with Finn. I don’t want to have to walk in the shadows hiding from those outraged stares of the world any longer. Especially from the Forresters.

Deacon: One Forrester in particular: Steffy.

Deacon: With Steffy still in the way, I just don’t see how you have a path back to Finn.

Sheila: It sounds like you’re starting to doubt me.

Deacon: No, no, no, no. No, I know better.

Sheila: Well, good. You should. You just need to remember: there is no mistaking that bond between a mother and her son.

Finn: Hey. Look, you didn’t let the truth about Dad’s affair tear you down, right? Or throw your life into complete chaos? Instead, your persisted, right? You’re here, pushing forward, and you’re making sure I do the same, and I will. I’m gonna find a way to get through to Sheila. I’ll always do whatever it takes to protect Steffy and the kids. That goes for you, too.

Thomas: Can you believe our kid?

Hope: No. But also, yes.

Thomas: Hm.

Hope: Hm. And then, no.

Thomas: Hm.

[ Phone chiming ]

Hope: Oh. Oh! Speaking of, that would be Douglas letting us know that there are milk and cookies in the kitchen for dessert.

Thomas: Ah! Yeah. Of course, there are.

Hope: Mm-hmm.

Thomas: He really did think of everything, didn’t he? He, uh… he’s right…. With what he said. I do love you.

Hope: Thomas.

Thomas: No, I know. I know. You’re not there yet. I understand. But, it’s okay. I just love being with you… Being in your presence. I made mistakes in the past, but I turned around. Well, you know, it takes a little while for guys to mature — Longer than girls, right? So… [ Laughing ] Look, you– you were far ahead of me for a long time, but I think I’m finally there. But, um, there is one thing I did want to address. I promise that I did not tell Douglas to do any of this.

Hope: Oh, no. I– I think I figured that out because only he could’ve pulled all of this off.

Thomas: Mm-hmm.

Hope: So. ..

Thomas: Sure. You know, I don’t want to ruin the moment, but… look, you know how I feel, Jope. I only wanna be with you. Just you. And look, I… I was the wrong guy in the past, but I’m better now. I’m a new man. And Douglas is right about one more thing. You miss your family. Of course you do. But Liam hurt you, and that’s not your only family. Our family is right here.

Thomas: You know, Douglas isn’t wrong. We are a family, Hope.

Hope: Of course we are.

Thomas: And we could have everything Douglas has always wanted: A family together… Sharing more moments like this. And I know you’re not there yet. You may not love me right now, but… when you do, when things change, I will be right here because I have always loved you.

Hope: I can admit that it feels so good to be in your arms. A man that does love me and only me.

Thomas: Just you.

Hope: I can feel your love what you share with me, Thomas, and it… feels good. So, can you do it again? Tell me I’m the only one.

Thomas: You are the only one.

Deacon: Can I, uh– can I help you with anything?

Sheila: No, no. It’s– this is pretty much it. It’s not like I had a lot. Look, see? I can– I can handle this.

[ Phone chiming ]

Sheila: Hm?

Deacon: No, I just have to go downstairs to the restaurant.

Sheila: I understand. Of course, you do. So, I guess this is goodbye. My knight in shining armor… you really were– you are a godsend. I– I don’t know what I would’ve done if you hadn’t taken me in and really showed me that… I had worth, that I existed. Yeah, I know that I’ve proven I can take care of myself, but it was so nice having you to rely on. I am gonna miss you, Deacon Sharpe.

Deacon: I’m gonna miss you too, Sheila Carter. Good luck because I’m gonna be rooting for you.

[ Sheila chuckling ]

Sheila: Goodbye, Daddy.

[ Sheila exhaling ]

Li: So, since we’re opening up so much, be honest. There wasn’t any part of you that wanted to let Sheila go when she had her heart attack?

[ Finn sighing ]

Finn: I mean, I know the threat she posed, and the terror and pain she had caused our families, and I could see how much you and Steffy just wanted it all to be over. But plain and simple, I don’t decide who I save and who I don’t. Someone was coding in my hospital right there in front of me. I had a job to do.

Li: You’re stronger in your convictions than I am.

Finn: Well, regardless, she’s… she’s back in our lives, and I might not know exactly how yet, but I’m gonna find a way to get through to Sheila. And once I do, once she finally realizes that I can’t have anything to do with her, she’ll be gone.

Deacon: Man, I’m glad you texted. I didn’t know you were coming in. I would’ve gotten you the best seat in the house. Hey, listen. I can’t thank you enough for your help.

Scott: Oh, come on, Deacon. We’re old friends. We go way back. Although, who would’ve thought that you would be the town’s hot restaurateur, and I’d have earned my judgeship? Especially considering some of those situations you had to bail me out of at the lair. If memory serves.

Deacon: You know, if memory serves, one of those situations involved a can of whipped cream, a pair of twins and you in the walk-in refrigerator. Yeah. But you know, the thing about time– the thing about time passing is that the longer it passes, the harder it is to remember the bad stuff.

Both: Now, it doesn’t seem so bad.

[ Both chuckling ]

Scott: Okay, I gotta say, Deacon. I was a bit surprised by your request.

Deacon: Well, you know me. I haven’t always, uh, made the best choices or fraternized with the right crowd, but Sheila and I, we go way back, too. We have a lot of history.

Scott: So, what I think I’m hearing is the things we do for those we love, right?

Deacon: Hey.

Scott: But Deacon, I gotta tell you, man, her rap sheet… this is not the kind of girl you bring home to your mom.

Deacon: I never brought a girl home to my mom. Too smart for that, I guess.

Scott: Mm. Well, at least now, I know a little bit why you reached out to me, called in a favor… Asked to make sure the attorney’s files all the right motions. Ms. Carter may never know, but the really big reason that she’s a free woman is ’cause of you, Deacon.
