Willow: Of — of course. [ Breathes sharply ] Um… Michael’s up at the main house.

[ Door closes ]

Willow: There was a little party today for Leo, to celebrate his adoption.

Sonny: It’s official? That’s great.

Willow: Seems really happy.

Sonny: Well, it’s — I think it’s best that Michael’s not here, ’cause I j– I wanted to talk to you in private.

Willow: About…?

Sonny: I just — I-I-I need to ask you a favor.

Chase: I’m sorry I’m late.

Brook Lynn: You should be. But these help.

[ Door closes ]

Brook Lynn: [ Clears throat ] You missed the party.

Chase: I figured. There was a, uh, situation.

Brook Lynn: I’m sure there was. Leo was really counting on you being here and was so bummed when you didn’t show.

Chase: Well, I tried to call, but my phone was smashed, and I don’T…have your number memorized.

Brook Lynn: Well, you should work on that.

Chase: I will.

Brook Lynn: Does your phone being smashed have anything to do with the situation you mentioned?

Chase: Yeah. Yeah. I was knocked out cold.

Brook Lynn: What? Oh, my god. Chase, are you okay? How badly were you hurt?

Chase: I’m okay.

Brook Lynn: Are you sure?

Chase: Yeah. I got a hard head.

Brook Lynn: [ Scoffs ] Don’t I know it.

Michael: Hey, Brook Lynn, do — do you have a minute? I need to talk to you about ELQ.

Finn: This can’t be a coincidence. Chase gets knocked out, and the footage that would show us what happened is mysteriously corrupted?

Jordan: I’d like to get my tech people on it. With your permission, Elizabeth, we can start by accessing the network remotely. If we hit a dead end, we can come in and retrieve the hardware.

Elizabeth: Yeah, whatever you think is best.

Finn: You know, this — this — this all but rules out the possibility of an accident, right? This has to be the intruder.

Elizabeth: Unless you believe in ghosts.

Curtis: Gate’s closed.

[ Air horn blows ]

Curtis: I guess you are too late to board. Looks like you’re gonna have to wait for the next one. That’ll give us an opportunity to talk.

[ Water splashing softly ]

Curtis: [ Sighs ]

Marshall: What’s that?

Curtis: It’s your arrest record. Your sealed arrest record.

[ Bag thuds on bench ]

Curtis: You know, man, I don’t get you. You made it seem like your arrest was some horrible, life-changing incident that justified you leaving your family. But now I know that wasn’t it at all.

Alexis: What would you like me to do? Do you want me to kill the story?

Harmony: Yes! It’s the least you can do! After everything I’ve done for you, you owe me that.

[ Knock on door ]

Diane: Is this a good time?

Alexis: [ Sighs ] I was just having an editorial debate with myself.

Diane: Oh, those are the best. About what?

Alexis: On whether to run Smoltz’s feature on Nina Reeves or kill it.

Diane: Why would you even think about doing that?

Harmony: [ Sighs ] [ Sighs ] I’m gonna burn these, and that’ll be the end of it. Damn. No matches.

[ Knock on door ]

Carly: [ Sighs ] [ Sighs ] Alexis?

[ Knock on door ]

Carly: Alexis? [ Sighs ] I know that’s Harmony’s car in the driveway.

[ Door opens ]

Carly: Hm. Harmony?

[ Door closes ]

Carly: I’m sorry to interrupt.

Harmony: Sure. Just give me one sec. I’m — I’m just burning some personal papers — tax documents, stuff like that.

Brook Lynn: Does this ELQ issue need to be ironed out right this second?

Michael: I’ll — I’ll — you know, I’ll keep it brief. You — you can stay if you want to, Chase. I know you already know enough about this company than you want to, anyway.

Chase: Truth.

Brook Lynn: [ Sighs ] Okay, then. Lay it on me.

Michael: Okay. So, Drew and I have been brainstorming, and we think it’s a good idea to merge ELQ and Aurora, thereby diluting Valentin’s shares.

Brook Lynn: I can see the benefit in that. Good thinking.

Michael: I’m worried that Ned is less than enthusiastic.

Brook Lynn: Okay, so now we’re getting to the real problem.

Michael: Yeah, I-I think he — he feels his position is being threatened, and I just — I just want you to know that everything is aboveboard.

Brook Lynn: You want me to know so I can talk my dad off a ledge in case he goes into “scheme mode”?

Michael: Yeah, I-I — it would be nice to avoid the usual, uh, family dysfunction if we can.

Brook Lynn: Okay. I’ll keep an eye on him.

Michael: Alright. Thank you. Was good seeing you, Chase.

Chase: You, too.

Brook Lynn: If only someone had one of those conversations with me before I decided to fake a pregnancy. [ Scoffs ]

Chase: I don’t know. I think that pregnancy wound up doing a lot of good.

Jordan: Thanks. Keep me posted. The team was able to access the cameras and network remotely.

Finn: That’s good news.

Jordan: Yeah. So they’re running diagnostics. If all goes well [Sighs] We’ll have some answers soon.

Elizabeth: Thank you.

Finn: That’s good, yeah. Hey, listen, how concerned should we be that these incidents are escalating — they’re getting more threatening?

Jordan: That’s often the case with stalkers, and there is a need to be concerned. Have you thought of anything else since you were last questioned? Uh, someone close to you that’s no longer in your life that maybe had access to your home at some point?

Elizabeth: No. N-no one. And certainly not with access to the house. I’ve had all the locks changed. And — and you said when you and Cameron got home, the alarm was armed, right?

Finn: And working, yeah, yeah.

Jordan: The ability to circumvent the alarm indicates meticulous planning, similar to when Franco’s studio was destroyed. [ Breathes deeply ] The studio itself was deserted, the floor on the building was empty, and no one was in danger.

Finn: The timing seems deliberate.

Jordan: If I were to lob a guess, I would say that the perpetrator doesn’t want to harm anyone, which is consistent with the other intrusions. While unsettling [Sighs] None of them were violent.

Finn: Until now.

Jordan: What is it about Chase? Why attack him?

Finn: I think the only explanation is that Chase was here to protect Elizabeth, and…the intruder wanted him out of the way.

Marshall: Did you get a court order to open my records?

Curtis: I used other methods.

Marshall: So — so you broke the law. Why would you do that? Why? You have — you have everything to lose, Curtis. You have a successful club, a new home, a wonderful woman with a terrific daughter. Your life is ideal. You have everything I would want my son to have. Why would you risk all of that to get your hands on a file you have no right to see?

Curtis: Because you left me no choice.

Diane: I certainly don’t want to tell you how to run your newspaper.

Alexis: Not to mention, you have a vested interest in the story being published.

Diane: Very true. Michael and Willow are my clients, and Smoltz’s story goes a long way to bolstering their argument that Nina should never be allowed visitation. That’s said — it’s a good story.

Alexis: I know it is.

Diane: How the loopholes in the legal system that allow a person like Nina, with an endless history of bad behavior, to even file a petition in the first place.

Alexis: I know. I-I read Smoltz’s notes. I’ve seen the rough draft. It could be an exceptional feature.

Diane: The why even consider killing it?

Alexis: Because Harmony begged me to.

Harmony: Identity theft’s an epidemic these days, and since I don’t have a paper shredder…

Carly: Doing it the old-fashioned way, huh?

Harmony: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, exactly.

Carly: Mm. That’s smart. You can never be too careful.

Harmony: Well… so…how can I help you?

Carly: Well, you can tell me what’s really going on between you and Nina Reeves.

Willow: If this has anything to do with Nina or her petition for visitation…

Sonny: No, it doesn’t. It’s about Michael. I know we have our — our differences, and it’s not the first time we’ve been estranged.

Willow: Michael told me about how he blamed you after AJ’s death, that he even went so far as to get temporary custody of Avery.

Sonny: Yeah, it was a brutal time, but we reconciled ’cause Carly, uh, built a bridge. But here we go again. Um, Michael’s angry, lashing out, and I don’t — I-I’m sure now Carly is not gonna build a bridge. She’s gonna… encourage the distance. So that leaves you, Willow. I’m — I just — I just want to know if you can talk to Michael. Let him know that I — that I love him, you know?

[ Door opens ]

Marshall: I could think of a lot of other choices — namely, respecting my privacy and leaving it alone.

Curtis: How?

Marshall: By focusing on the future instead of digging in the damn past.

Curtis: Marshall… I thought you were in the witness protection program.

Marshall: [ Scoffs ]

Curtis: I thought you had enemies that had a target on my back, that — that — that could make Portia and/or Trina and/or TJ collateral damage. But it was all a big lie, wasn’t it? Your ass wasn’t in no witness protection program.

Marshall: I never said that. You came up with that theory all on your own.

Curtis: Yeah, but you let me believe it. Why wouldn’t you just tell me what happened, huh? Because the truth — it don’t justify you ghosting your family.

Sonny: Good to see you, son.

Michael: What are you doing here?

Sonny: I just — I don’t like us to be at odds with each other.

Michael: At odds. That’s — that’s a polite way of putting it.

Sonny: You’re angry, and I get it. But I think we should move forward now, Michael.

Michael: Right, and you were, what, just chatting with Willow, waiting for me to come home?

Sonny: No, I wanted to talk to her directly, and I thought maybe she could, you know, work things out between us. And I-I — it’s not fair to put you in that position. I understand that.

Michael: Right. So — so since when did you start caring about what’s fair?

Sonny: I never said I was perfect. I’m just trying to do the best I can do as a father.

Michael: Right, okay, then don’t make your case to Willow. Make it to me.

Harmony: I’m not sure I understand. Nina and i are connected through Wiley.

Carly: I know, but I have a feeling there’s something more to it. When you came to ask for a job at the Metro Court, you said you “owed” Nina.

Harmony: I misspoke. [ Chuckles ]

Carly: Really? Because something’s obviously bothering you.

Harmony: [ Breathes sharply ] Uh, no offense, Carly, but I hardly know you.

Carly: I know when someone’s wasted, like you were last night, and you got really jumpy every time Nina’s name was mentioned, so I just want to know — is Nina blackmailing you?

Harmony: [ Laughing ] No. What? No. I’m sorry, why would you even think that?

Carly: Was it from back when you worked with Phyllis in Manhattan?

Harmony: I never worked with her.

Carly: You were in the same building. Phyllis took care of Nina when she was in a coma. Did you have contact with Nina, too?

Diane: Why would Harmony care if you — oh. Oh, she’s afraid that all of Smoltz’s background research is gonna reveal the truth that Willow is not her daughter.

Alexis: Not her biological daughter.

Diane: Not even her adopted daughter, legally speaking.

Alexis: [ Sighs ] She’s afraid she’s going to lose Willow.

Diane: So, of course, she’s adamant that the story doesn’t run.

Alexis: I told her that she was overreacting, and she just dug her heels in and said that, if I were her friend, I would kill the story after everything that she’s done for me.

Diane: I hope you didn’t agree.

Alexis: I didn’t answer. However, I did tell her we need to — to reevaluate our living situation.

Diane: Reevaluate nothing — kick her keister to the curb!

Chase: [ Sighs ] I miss her.

Brook Lynn: I do, too.

Chase: Actually, I — I miss all of it.

Brook Lynn: You miss pretending to be Bailey’s father to protect her from a complete psychopath?

Chase: Well, maybe not that part.

Brook Lynn: [ Laughs ]

Chase: It was fun, co-parenting with you.

Brook Lynn: [ Laughs ]

Chase: Our little routine in the kitchen…

Brook Lynn: [ Chuckles ] Yeah.

Chase: …And I made the first pot of coffee.

Brook Lynn: Oh, thank God for that coffee.

Chase: [ Chuckles ] Then we’d kick our feet up after bailey went down. Man, we had a nice little groove going.

Brook Lynn: We did, huh?

Chase: [ Breathes sharply ] Minus the time that you were mad at me and refused to talk to me.

Brook Lynn: Only because I overheard you dragging me to Dante.

Chase: Yeah, I still feel really bad about that.

Brook Lynn: Don’t. I know you were just trying to throw Dante off. I get it.

Chase: No, I hate that I hurt you.

Brook Lynn: [ Sighs ] Well, those things that you said… they did hurt… a lot, because… some of them are true.

Jordan: I just got the report. The cameras were jammed.

Elizabeth: Jammed? How?

Jordan: There are devices on the market that are used to corrupt images on surveillance cameras.

Finn: And that’s what happened in this case?

Jordan: I’m sorry. [ Sighs ] Someone did this to you deliberately.

Curtis: I got to admit, your little tales of witness protection and hiding out from gangsters… makes letting us believe you were dead all these years almost understandable, even defensible. So maybe that’s why you lie so much — ’cause it makes you feel better.

Marshall: You don’t know what you’re talking about, Curtis.

Curtis: No?

Marshall: No. You weren’t in my shoes. You weren’t facing what I was facing.

Curtis: You were arrested in a protest that got out of control. You weren’t tried. You weren’t sentenced to prison. Instead, the judge remanded you to a mental institution for evaluation and treatment.

Marshall: Well, look at you. All in the know. Are you happy now, Curtis?

Curtis: [ Sighs ] What do you think?

[ Exhales deeply ]

Brook Lynn: It’s no secret I’ve told my fair share of lies over the years. I would totally get it if you don’t trust me.

Chase: I do.

Brook Lynn: Really?

Chase: Well, maybe not to be 100% truthful all the time, but…

Brook Lynn: [ Laughs ] Impossible.

Chase: …I trust you to do the right thing. You are someone I can count on. You’re someone who – who gets me…like I get you.

Brook Lynn: You get me, huh?

Chase: I’d like to think so, yeah.

Brook Lynn: Then what am I hoping for in this exact moment?

Chase: I better not be wrong.

[ Footsteps approaching ]

Leo: Chase, you weren’t there!

Brook Lynn: Leo!

Leo: Why not? Why did you miss my party?

Sonny: I apologize. I should have gone directly to Michael, and, uh, I shouldn’t — I shouldn’t have put you in the middle.

Willow: Do you want to talk to your father alone?

Michael: Well… look, it’s your call. I hate involving you in this, but, uh… since you’re already involved…

Willow: yeah, I’ll s– I’ll stay. Alright.

Michael: [ Sighs lightly ] Okay. I’m listening.

Sonny: I-I just hope that you – you hear what I’m saying, even if you don’t understand, uh… or agree with it. You’re my son. There’s too much love between us to throw it away.

Diane: [ Chuckling ] I’m sorry. That was a little blunt. Even for me.

Alexis: Relax. I’ve already decided that she needs to move out.

Diane: Excellent.

Alexis: Too many warning signs to ignore. [ Breathes deeply ] Still… she was a friend to me when I really needed someone to be, and I feel obligated to help.

Diane: [ Sighs ]

Alexis: She’s desperate to stop this feature.

Diane: So you comply as — what — a parting gift?

Alexis: Why not? I help out Harmony, I pay off Smoltz, and the two of us go our separate ways.

Diane: I understand the impulse. I absolutely do. And, yes, you’re right when you say I have a vested interest in this story running. It would help me a lot. So stipulating to that, I’d like you to consider one other thing. What happened the last time you went against your instincts and you did something wrong to support someone?

Alexis: I lied for Neil and ruined everything.

Harmony: I was a caregiver for another patient in the building, and part of that entailed walking their dog. So we struck up, um — I don’t know how you’d describe it — like a superficial acquaintance with Madeline Reeves.

Carly: Nina’s mother.

Harmony: Yeah, yeah. Nina I was in a coma — I knew that, but that was the extent of it. It wasn’t until she contacted me to help her with Wiley that I even made that connection.

Carly: So you don’t feel like you owe Nina?

Harmony: No. No. [ Chuckles ] I mean, I do feel for her. You know, being deprived of your child. When a woman wants to be a mother, she reaches a point where she will do anything.

Carly: Last night, you said you wish Willow was yours.

Harmony: What?

Carly: Last night. How is Willow not yours?

Harmony: We’ve been estranged for years. That’s entirely my fault.

Carly: Yeah, but you repaired that relationship, right?

Harmony: [ Sighs ] Yeah, we’re — we’re working on it. But, you know, sometimes I still feel that separation, like she’s not, uh, fully mine. Where are my manners? [ Chuckles ] I haven’t even offered you a drink or — or some water. So, um… I’m just going to run upstairs and grab my phone, and I will be right back to take your order, okay? [ Chuckles ]

[ Paper rustling ]

Michael: You know, it’s classic that you say it like that.

Sonny: Like what?

Michael: Like you’re not fully responsible for trashing our relationship, that I’m — that I’m — that I’m somehow to blame.

Sonny: So this is all on me, you’re saying.

Michael: Yeah, dad. It’s all on you.

Sonny: We — we’re — we’re a lot alike in many ways, Michael.

Michael: No. No, we’re not.

Sonny: We both struggle with anger. Mine is hot — yours runs ice cold, but in the end, it’s the same result. We lash out, and we regret what we say.

Michael: No, you’re — you’re right about one thing — I am angry. I am, actually — I’m furious at the way that you treated mom. Did you know that she literally risked her life to hold your business together, and what — you — you pay her back by dropping her for Nina?

Sonny: That’s not what happened.

Michael: That’s exactly what happened!

Sonny: Okay, my business with your mom is my business. I tried to work it out with her over and over again. I did not want the divorce, Michael. She filed for divorce.

Sonny: Yeah. [ Chuckles ] Oh, my god. Do you — do you hear this?

Sonny: What?

Michael: [ Sighs ] Mom filed for divorce because she caught you in bed with Nina. What the hell did you expect her to do?!

Curtis: I get the stigma attached to mental illness. I know it was bad for you, especially back in the day. I imagine it was very hurtful for you, but, Marshall, there’s nothing in this file about a diagnosis. So if you were sick or if the — the judge sent you to a mental institution to avoid a trial —

Marshall: I’m not talking about this.

Curtis: Look, t-there’s no judgment here, okay? I-I’m trying to understand. Can you please help me with that? No matter, uh, uh, how difficult or torturous your ordeal was — and I’m sure it was plenty of both — but you had a wife and two sons, and you thought the best option was to walk away from us?

Finn: If you don’t want to stay with me, that’s — that’s fine. But it can be Laura’s, it can be the Quartermaine’s’, it can be the Metro Court, but it can’t be here, not after what happened to Chase.

Elizabeth: I know you’re right.

Finn: [ Scoffs ] Here comes the dreaded “but”.

Elizabeth: But my instinct is to say put.

Finn: Nope!

Elizabeth: This is my home. I don’t want to leave.

Finn: Mnh-mnh. Even if it means risking getting hurt or, God forbid, worse?

Elizabeth: I can’t explain it. I just have this feeling.

Finn: What feeling?

[ Door opens ]

Elizabeth: Aiden! What are you doing here?

Aiden: Cam told me what happened. How Chase got hit on the head. It’s Franco. It has to be.

Leo: This was my special day. I’m Leo Quartermaine now!

Chase: I know you are.

Leo: And you were supposed to be there, but you weren’t.

Brook Lynn: Leo, sweetie, Chase was planning to come, but he had to help some people who were in trouble.

Leo: Are those people your friends?

Chase: They are.

Leo: More your friend than I am? Do you like them better, and that’s why you didn’t come?

Alexis: It’s always a mistake for me not to follow my instincts.

Diane: Amen.

Alexis: And while killing this feature is not rising to the level of perjury… it does compromise my ethics.

Diane: The Invader is thriving, and so are you.

Alexis: Thank you.

Diane: You are active. You’re engaged. You are a powerful voice for progress and fairness in the community. You’re fighting the good fight, Alexis, just like you did as an attorney. So don’t sabotage your second act. Most importantly, don’t sabotage yourself.

Alexis: That’s quite a closing argument, Counselor.

Diane: I’m Diane Miller, and you are my best friend.

Alexis: Smoltz’s feature has to run. Now what do I do about Harmony?

[ Papers rustle ]

Carly: You’re not burning tax documents. These are notes from a therapy session with Dr. Neil Byrne.

Harmony: What?

Carly: [ Chuckling ] What? “Harmony suffers from intense guilt about the child”?

Harmony: Those are private. Give them to me.

Carly: “Harmony rationalizes keeping the child.”

Harmony: This is all lies. Neil Byrne was a drug addict. Give it to me.

Carly: No. This is what you meant about Willow not being yours. That’s what you’re doing here, right? You’re burning papers that prove that Willow isn’t your biological daughter.

Harmony: [ Grunts ]

Carly: Oh! What the hell are you doing?

[ Both grunting ]

Diane: Harmony provided support when you needed it, yes. But that does not mean you are indebted to her for life, Alexis. There’s a lot you don’t know about Harmony. Clearly, she is a very troubled woman.

Alexis: Yes.

Diane: And that’s sad, okay? But it’s not your job to fix her.

Alexis: I know that. But troubled or not, I’m not gonna like myself very much if I don’t try and help her. She doesn’t even have a place to live.

Diane: Okay. Uh, how’s this? You pay for first month, last month, security deposit on a decent apartment. And until that lease is signed, you put her up at the Metro Court. That’s fair.

Alexis: More than fair. [ Breathes deeply ] Thank you for helping me to talk this through.

Diane: My pleasure.

Alexis: Now I’m gonna go home and I’m gonna have this conversation with my soon-to-be ex-roommate.

Diane: I can come along for moral support. I’ll just stand in the back and look pretty.

Alexis: I need to handle this by myself. However…

Diane: Uh-oh.

Alexis: …Could you talk to Lucy and see if maybe she could do a search, see if she can find Harmony a decent place to live?

Diane: Lucy Coe, the woman who just took her company public?

Alexis: The one and only.

Diane: I suppose as a favor to you, she’ll take the commission.

Alexis: She’d better.

Diane: Very well. I shall deal with Lucy Coe.

Alexis: You’re my good friend.

Diane: I’m your best friend.

Alexis: [ Chuckles ]

Diane: Don’t forget it.

Sonny: I think y-your mom could have, given a little more time, maybe we could have resolved something. But y-you’re — right now, you’re acting like a child. You’re an adult. You don’t have to take sides.

Michael: The sides are clear — you cheated.

Sonny: Okay, before you judge me, not too many years ago, I walked in on your mom in bed with Jax.

Michael: Right.

Sonny: Okay?

Michael: Okay, yeah.

Sonny: So what does that mean?

Michael: Just — just — no, yeah —

Leo: No one can, except in comic books.

Chase: Right. So when that happens, when — when I can’t be there for you, someone else has to cover for me.

Brook Lynn: Like those whale pods you were telling me about, buddy, you remember? The whales sometimes have to babysit each other?

Leo: When one has to be away from the pod, the other whales help out.

Chase: Exactly. That is a perfect comparison to Brook Lynn and me.

Brook Lynn: Except the whale part.

Leo: Yeah. Until they wanted me to perform, and I couldn’t do it.

Brook Lynn: Yeah, but Leo didn’t want to, which is totally fine, by the way.

Chase: Hmm. Too many people? It can be scary standing in front of a lot of people. I mean, I know that’s how I felt when I performed at the Nurses’ Ball. Hey, can I let you in on a little secret?

Brook Lynn: Whoa, you guys listened to my demos?

Chase: [ Chuckles ]

Leo: Yeah. When Chase lived here — sometimes Chase sings them, too.

Brook Lynn: He does, does he?

Chase: O-okay. Uh. Do you remember when you shared your playlist with me?

Brook Lynn: Yeah.

Chase: You may have accidentally included some of your demos.

Brook Lynn: You didn’t think to mention that?

Chase: I thought you wanted me to have them.

Brook Lynn: I got to comb through that playlist.

Chase: I loved singing for you. Do you think you could, uh, say your poem for me?

Finn: I was talking to Chase. I hope you don’t mind. But he — he told me that you think that Franco is behind all the stuff that’s been happening.

Aiden: Ghost can move things.

Finn: Mm-hmm.

Aiden: Franco’s ghost must have moved whatever hit Chase. He’s been trying to reach us.

Finn: Why?

Aiden: Because he’s mad that we’ve gotten so close with you.

Finn: Franco loved you, right? He loved you and your brothers and — and your mom. Would he really want to scare you?

Aiden: Why don’t we ask Franco and find out?

Marshall: I did what I thought was best for my family!

Curtis: It is like we are going in circles! How was it best for you to leave us to grieve? How was it best for me growing up my whole life without my dad?

Marshall: How can you be certain that you all would have been better off had I stayed? Isn’t it possible that the exact opposite is true? That I gave you a gift by vanishing from your lives?! That the real act of selfishness, the — the real mistake was coming back?!

Brook Lynn: Do you want to try it now, bud? Recite it only for Chase?

Leo: Okay. Sit over there and stand over there where I can’t see you.

Brook Lynn: Copy that.

Chase: Okay, buddy, it is just you and me. I am a friend in the living room.

Leo: Spinning through space for eons, our earth — oceans, rivers, mountains, glaciers, tigers, parrots, redwoods — evolving wonders. And our vast array, generations of humans — all shapes, colors, languages. Can I be the only me? Our earth: So much beauty, hate, goodness, greed. “Study. Cool the climate,” advises my teacher. “Grow peace.” Can I be the only me, become all my unique complexity?

Elizabeth: I know you want to help, but I agree with Finn. I mean, Franco loved us. He would never, ever want to frighten us this way.

Finn: Yeah, I think maybe before we start blaming the ghost of Franco [Breathes deeply] we might want to make sure it’s not someone alive and well who’s doing this, you know, for whatever reason.

Aiden: Okay, I guess that makes sense.

Elizabeth: Why don’t you go to your room and grab some extra clothes? You’re gonna be staying with grandma Laura just for a little while longer. [ Sighs ] Thank you for handling that so well.

Finn: What’s there to handle?

Elizabeth: Where do I begin?

Finn: [ Chuckles ]

Elizabeth: [ Sighs ]

Finn: Yeah. Hey, listen. Aiden’s gonna figure this out eventually, you know? This has nothing to do with ghosts.

Elizabeth: Oh, God.

Curtis: When you first got here, I was the one that wanted you gone. And now you regret making contact. Although I’m — I’m grateful that you did. I’m not okay with any of this. The lies, the cover-ups, the questions that still need answers. But I would rather have my father with me, no matter how difficult, then go on believing that he was dead. So can we use this as a turning point? An opportunity to start fresh? No more secrets. What happened in the mental institution? Did you undergo treatment? What was the diagnosis?

Marshall: Why don’t you consult that precious file you’re holding? The one you broke the law to get, the one you violated my privacy to read. And if the answers ain’t there, then you’re just out of luck, ’cause you ain’t getting them from me.

Sonny: You need to be sure about this, ’cause, uh, some words can’t be taken back.

Michael: I don’t want to take them back, okay? You tore this family apart, and I’m not gonna excuse it or gloss it over. You know, I even — I even thought about changing my name back to Michael Quartermaine, but I thought, why should I do that? Why should I change my last name because of you? It’s best to redeem it. Make “Corinthos” stand for something good, so that when people think about it, they think of me, they think of — think of Wiley. And you and all your lies, your — your disloyalty, violence, crimes — eventually that will be forgotten, like you never even existed.

Sonny: I love you. You’re my son. I’m always gonna love you.

Michael: Yeah, so you keep saying.

Sonny: But I’m not gonna forget this. And if you want me to forgive… …you’re gonna have to beg.

Michael: Well, don’t hold your breath.

Sonny: I won’t.

[ Door slams shut ]

Sonny: Goodbye, son.

Alexis: Harmony, we need to talk. Harmony? Harmony, are you here?!

[ Line rings ]

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Alexis: Harmony, will you please call me? I am extremely worried.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Alexis: Diane.

Diane: Hey, honey, I’m just checking in. Did you make it home alright?

Alexis: Yeah, I’m home. My house is torn apart. Harmony’s car’s in the driveway, but there’s no sign of her. I think she’s having some sort of a breakdown.

Harmony: Up there on Rana Point… …it’s a good place to think, right? Wrong. It’s quiet. It’s away from everyone. It looks peaceful, but… looks can be deceiving.

Alexis: I think I know where she is.

[ Car running ]

[ Ominous music ]

Sasha (to Nina): Does that mean that he killed them?

Brando: If you ask me, that’s part of the problem.

N’neka: I am so glad that private party brought their own staff. I never could have gotten our team to come in this early. Not if they’ve been working a party past 4:00 in the morning.

Jordan: 4:00 in the morning? That must have been one hell of a party.

Trina: Mr. Ashford?

Marshall: Trina.

Trina: Are you going on a trip?

Ned: Thank you all for coming. It’s days like today which remind us of the importance of family. A family that I am happy to say is expanding. Now, I have always thought of Leo as my son, but as of today, it’s official. It’s legal. The adoption of Leo has come through.

[ Cheers and laughter ]

Olivia: Leo wanted to have the same last name as his mom and dad.

Ned: So without further ado, let’s have a toast to my son, Leo.

Leo: Leo Quartermaine!

[ Laughter ]

All: Leo Quartermaine!

Ned: Come here. Give me a hug. Oh, I love you.

Harmony: Oh, my God. How much did I have to drink last night? Neil’s file!

Alexis: Well, you look like you’ve been to hell and back.

Harmony: [ Sighs ]

Sam: I didn’t think you were going to make it.

Carly: Yeah, well, Olivia’s not just my business partner, she’s one of my closest friends. So I’m so happy to be here. I’m just so upset that Monica had to go away on that convention and she couldn’t be here to celebrate Leo becoming a Quartermaine.

Dante: I’m gonna go get a refill.

Sam: [ Clicks tongue ]

Carly: [ Hums ] I deserve that. Are things any better between you and Dante?

Sam: [ Sighs ] You know, we still have to hash some things out.

Leo: Adoption isn’t just for humans.

Drew: Right. Yeah, of course. People can adopt dogs and cats.

Leo: And animals can adopt other animals, especially animals who live by water like seagulls and elephant seals.

Drew: [ Chuckles ] Well, I actually didn’t know that. That’s so cool.

Brook Lynn: My little bro is on his way to becoming a marine biologist. Right?

Leo: I read it in the book that Chase gave me at Christmas. Huh. Where is Chase, Brook Lynn? You promised me he’d be here.

Brook Lynn: That’s a really good question, honey. I don’t know where Chase is.

Chase: [ Sighs ] Damn it.

[ Knock on door ]

Portia: Wow. You’re not wasting any time getting out of here, huh?

Chase: I have somewhere to be this morning, and I’m already late.

Portia: Chase, you had a concussion. You’re not going anywhere until I sign off on it.

[ Elevator bell dings ]

Elizabeth: Hi. Good morning. I was just checking on Cameron.

Finn: How’s he doing?

Elizabeth: Well, if he wasn’t already 18, he’d be grounded forever.

Finn: [ Laughs ] Yeah.

Elizabeth: Thank you for bailing him out last night.

Finn: You’re welcome.

Elizabeth: He’s worried about Chase after finding him unconscious in our living room. How is he?

Finn: Awake and alert, last time I checked.

Elizabeth: Oh, thank God. I’ve been a nurse too long to know that accidents like these could be way more serious.

Finn: Yep, if it was an accident.

Elizabeth: Well, let’s hope. The alternative is kind of freaking me out.

Finn: That the person who’s been stalking your family has now turned violent.

Finn: Hey, is it okay if we come in?

Portia: Patient’s decision.

Finn: Okay.

Chase: Please come in.

Finn: [ Chuckles ]

Portia: Well, I can confirm that your concussion has passed, and I’m going to make arrangements for you to be discharged. But can you do me a favor, Chase? Just have somebody else drive you home.

Chase: Okay.

Portia: Alright.

Finn: Thanks.

Elizabeth: Thanks, Portia.

Finn: A concussion, really?

Chase: I guess I knocked something off the shelf when I was checking the cameras. Either that or Aiden was onto something with his Ouija board.

Elizabeth: Ouija board? What are you talking about?

Brook Lynn: Chase, it’s me. I have a very special guest of honor who’s wondering where you are. I’m wondering, too. I’m so sorry, Leo, but Chase didn’t answer. I just got his voice-mail. Do you know what? I don’t know where he is, but I imagine he’ll be here soon.

Olivia: Aww. You know, I know that Ned gives Chase a hard time, but honestly, he was so great with Leo, especially when you guys were here with bailey. In fact, that’s how I convinced Leo to participate in the whole theater therapy thing. I reminded him that Ned and Chase and his big sister, Brook Lynn, they were all performers, so…

Brook Lynn: Chase isn’t loving performing lately.

Drew: If you don’t mind me asking, what is theater therapy?

Olivia: Oh, it’s so great. It’s this afterschool program for kids that are on the spectrum, and it uses theater skits to help them learn about, you know, speech or taking turns or making eye contact — that kind of thing.

Ned: And the whole thing culminates with a performance for the families for Autism Awareness Month.

Drew: That is really something. Wow.

Olivia: Oh, it is. It’s spectacular. Leo’s been loving it. He’s making a lot of new friends and he’s going to recite a poem at the show.

Drew: Really?

Ned: Yeah.

Olivia: Honey, actually, why don’t you — why don’t you recite your poem for everyone?

Leo: The performance isn’t until next week.

Olivia: Oh, no, no, no. I know, I know. Just — just a little — like a — like a sneak peek for — for family and friends. Why don’t you go get your notecards?

Ned: Go ahead.

Leo: Okay.

Drew: Alright.

[ Chuckles ]

Carly: I am so sorry that I put you in that situation with Dante.

Sam: Don’t apologize. I am a big girl, and I’m the one who chose to forward that e-mail to you so you could prove that Esme was behind the video with Joss and Cam.

Carly: I know, but you have enough going on with your own family. Hey, have you talked to Alexis about last night?

Sam: No. I mean, not this morning. Do you know what’s going on with Harmony? I mean, we’re not friends by any means, but I was a little concerned that she was so drunk she could barely stand.

Carly: Harmony said something really strange last night.

Sam: What’d she say?

Harmony: Why are you being so nice to me?

Carly: Because Willow’s my family.

Harmony: Wish she was mine.

Carly: You know, it was probably nothing.

Sam: Yeah.

Carly: I mean, Harmony was so drunk, she wasn’t making any sense.

Willow: What are you saying about my mom?

Alexis: Here. Take that.

Harmony: I’m sure I owe you an apology because I don’t really remember a whole lot from last night.

Alexis: Well, you know, I don’t really expect anyone to abstain just because I have to, but you really did cross a line last night.

Harmony: I did? I’m so sorry. What did I do?

Alexis: You bought me a drink and encouraged me to drink it.

Harmony: What?! Oh, my God, Alexis, I don’t know what I was thinking. I’m — I’m so, so sorry. That’s never gonna happen again. You know that, right? I’m just — I don’t — [ Sighs ] I don’t drink. I’m not a drinker. I have the occasional glass of wine.

Alexis: Hmm. So why do you think that you were kicking back, like, double shots of whiskey? Because it’s very clear to me that something’s bothering you.

Harmony: Um, I think it’s just that, you know, the thought of Nina taking Willow to court and this whole ugly situation is going to snowball. I’m just kind of tied up in knots about it.

Alexis: Well, I was hoping to bring it to you first, but I have a feeling Smoltz has gotten to you.

Harmony: What do you mean?

Alexis: He’s a freelance reporter for The Invader, and he’s doing an in-depth piece on Nina’s quest to get visitation of Wiley.

Marshall: Just waiting for my boat to arrive. Thought it would be a good idea to get out of town.

[ Water sloshing, bells ringing ]

Trina: Sounds great. With everything happening in my life, I wish I could get away, too. Between, like, school and my job, and, well, you know, like, everything else is just… [ Sighs ]

Marshall: I have faith in you, Trina. All this is going to work out for you. Stay strong.

Trina: Thank you. You’re not a light packer, are you? [ Chuckles ] How long are you going to be gone for? Oh. Are you leaving for good?

Marshall: It’s complicated.

Trina: Try me.

Marshall: Well, I had hoped to rejoin my family as if nothing had ever happened. That was foolish on my part. I got too many ghosts chasing after me. And it’ll be easier if everyone just forgets I was ever here.

Curtis: I didn’t know you kept such close tabs on my nightclub. I assure you, everything was on the up and up. And I’m aware that nightclubs can stay open for private parties well after 2:00 A.M.

Jordan: I was just teasing you, Curtis. I’m really happy for you that the club is booming. I just came to stop by to see how you and Portia were doing.

Curtis: Well, we’re fine. Uh, the rest is between you and Portia.

Jordan: That was a little abrupt. I thought we were in a good place yesterday.

Curtis: [ Stammers ] It’s all good, Jordan. I’m trying my best here.

Jordan: I know you have a lot on your plate.

Curtis: You don’t know the half of it.

Jordan: What do you mean by that?

Selina: Apologies. I didn’t realize you had company.

Michael: It’s a good strategy. It’s aggressive, it’s unexpected, and I can see how it’d be good for business.

Drew: Well, that’s why she probably gets paid the big bucks.

Ned: All right. What are you two talking about? Aurora?

Drew: In a sense, yeah. Also — also ELQ. Um, look, Ned, I-I got in touch with my lawyer and I can reclaim Scout’s shares, which is great, but Valentin still controls Danny’s shares, which means he will control nearly half the voting stock, so all it’s gonna take is one disgruntled Quartermaine to flip and then we’ll be back in the same situation.

Michael: And we all know how easy it is for one of our family members to, uh, turn.

Ned: Hm. That’s true. But what’s the alternative?

Drew: Well, I met with an executive coach last night. She thought that maybe the best strategy would be for ELQ and Aurora… to merge.

Elizabeth: Finn told me Aiden stopped by the house while I was sleeping?

Chase: Yeah, I, uh, was going to mention something to you this morning, but then, well…

Elizabeth: But why did he come home?

Chase: He said he had a school project about ghosts, and he had a Ouija board with him. I thought it was kind of strange, but who knows? Maybe it’s something for science class.

Elizabeth: No, no. He doesn’t have a project like that.

Chase: Yeah, well, eventually I figured that out, but not before he tricked me into trying to contact someone specific.

Elizabeth: Is it who I think?

Chase: Aiden was trying to contact Franco.

Selina: Is this a bad time?

Jordan: The Savoy isn’t open for business yet. Isn’t that right, Curtis?

Curtis: Yeah. Well, Ms. Wu and I had a previously scheduled appointment. She wants to rent the place out for a private party.

Selina: Yes, I have a family birthday coming, and we want to celebrate in style. But if you’d like me to come back later…

Curtis: No, no, no. This is a good time. Just, um, have a seat and let me, uh, wrap things up with Jordan.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Jordan: Actually, don’t mind me. I have to go. I know you can handle yourself, but it would be prudent if you happen to be previously booked on the day Selina wants the place.

Curtis: Duly noted.

Selina: Is your ex-wife always going to be hanging around?

Curtis: That’s why you chose this place, right? Because of my connections? Ms. Wu, I have more than delivered on my end of the bargain. Your event was a success last night — well into the morning. Now, do you have what I want?

Selina: As agreed. Your father’s sealed arrest record.

Curtis: [ Sighs ]

Selina: Now that I’ve delivered on my word, I expect you to deliver on yours.

Carly: I’m sorry, Willow. I don’t want you to think Sam and I were gossiping about your mom. I was actually asking Sam about Alexis.

Willow: No, no, you don’t need to apologize, just can you clarify? You said my mom was really drunk?

Sam: Carly and I saw her at the Metro Court. She was… definitely overserved.

Willow: I saw my mom yesterday at the Metro Court, and yes, she had a drink and she seemed really distracted about something, but she wasn’t drunk.

Sam: I’m sorry. I don’t know what to tell you. I mean, maybe this happened after you saw her.

Carly: Yeah, I did check with the bartender, and he said that Harmony had three double whiskeys. That’s a lot of liquor.

Willow: I can’t remember the last time I saw my mom drink hard alcohol, and I’ve never seen her drunk.

Sam: I mean, it definitely wasn’t just the whiskey. You could tell that Harmony was upset about something.

Willow: Now I’m really worried. My mom’s been acting out of sorts for weeks now.

Carly: I think I know why.

Harmony: This man is writing a feature on Nina’s petition?

Alexis: Yeah, this Smoltz. He’s doing a five-part feature, and Michael and Willow have given him an exclusive. And since you’re Willow’s mother, he wanted to reach out to you for a comment and do a deeper dive into Willow’s background and family.

Harmony: Absolutely not.

Elizabeth: Aiden wanted to contact Franco?

Chase: Look, I know it might be hard to hear, but with all the strange things happening at the house, Aiden has it in his head that Franco — or his ghost — is trying to reach out to you.

Elizabeth: Maybe Franco doesn’t want me to move on.

Finn: Aiden’s just a kid. You know, he’s just looking for an explanation. It’s probably easier for him to believe that Franco’s ghost is reaching out than to accept that — accept that someone’s able to break into your house.

Elizabeth: Yeah, maybe. It just seems like every time the boys and I start to move on, I get another reminder of just how traumatized we still are.

[ Elevator bell dings ]

[ Indistinct conversations ]

Jordan: I understand Harrison Chase was brought in last night.

Portia: Yeah, yeah, yeah. He’s right — he’s right in there.

[ Telephone ringing ]

Jordan: Thanks.

Portia: Jordan, wait a second. I want to apologize for my behavior yesterday. You didn’t deserve to be chewed out in that way. I know that you’re just doing your job.

Jordan: You want to protect your kid. I’ve been there, and I don’t blame you.

Portia: You can blame me for making it personal — making it about your history with Curtis. Especially when he told me that you’re working behind the scenes to find out who actually filmed Josslyn and Cam.

Jordan: I can’t comment on an ongoing investigation, but for what it’s worth, I know the type of young woman Trina is. She has a good moral compass and a good heart, just like her mom.

Marshall: You know what? I got places to go.

Trina: Okay, wait, I don’t understand. You were just getting close to — to T.J. And Curtis. And isn’t Epiphany fond of you, too? Aren’t you gonna miss them?

Marshall: Of course I will. Of course, more than they will ever know. But sometimes, the truth can hurt — hurt so much that it’s better left buried.

Trina: But you told me that the truth is worth fighting for. And you also said that it’s okay to take care of yourself. So if you’re going to leave just because you think that it’s going to be easier on your family, then you’re ignoring your own advice.

Marshall: Well, maybe — maybe I am doing this for myself. Maybe I realized that it was bad for me to be around my family again.

Trina: Why?

Curtis: You needed a venue and I provided one. Your event was a success.

Selina: The first of many was our arrangement.

Curtis: I’m not sure who you’re used to dealing with, but I don’t break my word. Your gambling operation may continue from time to time, so long as that’s all it entails.

Selina: Well, it’s a start. Before I go, let me give you some advice — while I haven’t read the file myself, I know a thing or two about trust in a family. If you go looking for skeletons in the closet, you are liable to find them, for better or worse. Once you cross that line and open that file, there is no going back.

Elizabeth: I still can’t wrap my head around this. Aiden believes Franco’s haunting us?

[ Knock on door ]

Jordan: Is this a bad time?

Chase: Of course not. Come in.

Jordan: I heard what happened to you, Chase. I wanted to follow up with you.

Chase: Oh, I’m pretty sure it was just a clumsy accident.

Jordan: I hope that’s all it is. But you were injured in a house we know was recently broken into. I’d like to rule out anything criminal.

Chase: Well, it might be easier than you think. I staged security cameras all over the house.

Harmony: Alexis, you know how messy my past is. I’m not going to let some reporter go digging around in my private life.

Alexis: But Michael and Willow are key to the story Smoltz has to do background on them. Okay, you don’t want to participate, fine. I’m sure Smoltz will find another way to do the interview without interviewing you.

Harmony: No, Alexis! That article is not going to run in your paper at all.

Carly: Willow, I think it’s pretty clear that the whole Nina situation has taken a toll on Harmony.

Willow: [ Sighs ] I hate to think what her reaction to the article might be.

Carly: Well, I mean, it’s gonna be tough on Harmony, but she’s gonna get through it because you’re her daughter and you need this.

Willow: Thanks, Carly. I appreciate the nice words.

Carly: [ Sighs ] Hey, can you give my apologies to Olivia? I need to take off.

Sam: Everything okay?

Carly: Yeah. Yeah. I just want to follow up with Alexis. I didn’t want to worry Willow, but I have a feeling that Harmony knows more about the Nina situation than she’s letting on. Alright.

Sam: Good luck.

Alexis: I’m sorry, I can’t publish the feature? Where is this coming from?

Harmony: You, of all people, should understand that the more your reporter investigates, the more likely it is that someone is gonna make the connection that Willow is not my biological child —

Alexis: she’s not your biological child. Just tell her the truth. If anyone can understand how you can mother a child and not give birth, it’s Willow. But it’s your secret to keep, not The Invader’s. All right? I will make sure that there’s nothing said about the commune and you and Willow in that regard, okay? Make sure it’s not published.

Harmony: But you don’t understand, Alexis. Once it’s out there, there’s no way to control it. You don’t know who’s going to start digging or what they’re going to find. I mean, my relationship with Willow is — is just — it’s so fragile as it is. This article, it’s just trouble for everyone involved.

Alexis: Then what would you like me to do? Do you want me to kill the story?

Harmony: Yes! It’s the least you can do! After everything I’ve done for you, you owe me that.

Michael: In addition to increasing ELQ’s value and creating a new revenue stream, Valentin’s shares will be diluted, making it nearly impossible for him to have a majority again.

Ned: Mm-hmm. But that would leave drew with the overwhelming majority interest in the company. So where does that leave me?

Drew: We haven’t really even gotten that far yet, Ned. Honestly, things aren’t sorted, really. Look, why don’t we not talk about this on Leo’s big day, all right? We got lots of time. We’ll work things out, talk strategy before it’s all figured out.

Olivia: Ah! Okay, everyone, it is with great pleasure that I introduce the newest member of the Quartermaine family.

Michael: Welcome to the Quartermaine family, Leo.

Brook Lynn: Look, we’re loud, we’re crazy, but we are very loyal.

[ Laughter ]

Olivia: Go ahead, honey. Show everyone what you’ve been practicing. Okay.

Leo: No!

Finn: I asked Chase to stay at Elizabeth’s and provide some security. To that end, he installed cameras around the entrances and hallways.

Jordan: Okay.

Chase: The plan was to pull the footage up on my phone, but… it broke last night.

Jordan: The object that knocked you out also busted your phone?

Chase: Or maybe I dropped it when I fell?

Jordan: Can you access the footage from another device?

Chase: Yes, but you have to log on the first time at the home network.

Jordan: Elizabeth, can we go to your house to take a look at the footage?

Elizabeth: Of course. If it gets us answers, that’d be great.

Chase: Yeah. I’ll come back to the hospital later to sign the paperwork.

Jordan: Chase.

Finn: Easy.

Jordan: I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I need you to keep your distance.

Chase: But I was the one who set up the cameras.

Jordan: If there was a crime committed, we can’t compromise the investigation. Not only would you be the victim, but you’re also a suspended detective. I need you to respect the line between civilian and cop. Understood?

Chase: [ Sighs ] Yes. Understood.

Jordan: We’ll talk soon.

Olivia: [ Sighs ] Boy, I really messed this up.

Brook Lynn: I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions. Okay, this — this might not have anything to do with the fact that Leo is on the spectrum. A lot of kids his age get stage fright.

Olivia: [ Sighs ] God, I hope you’re right.

Brook Lynn: I’ve been known to get stage fright myself. I recognize the signs.

Olivia: [ Sighs ] Okay. I’m going to go check on them, and if it turns out to be just that, maybe — maybe you and Chase can give a little pep talk, you know, since you’re both performers.

[ Knock on door ]

Portia: Good news. I got your discharge paperwork right here. All you need to do is sign it and you’re out of here.

Chase: Well, I have to wait for my brother to get back from playing detective with my boss.

[ Pen clattering ]

Portia: Thank you.

Chase: You don’t by chance have any of the Quartermaine’s’ phone numbers, do you? I need to reach out to Brook Lynn.

Portia: Oh, you don’t have their numbers.

Chase: Well, not memorized, no.

Portia: [ Sighs ]

Chase: It’s the downside of having every number stored on your phone, which is great until your phone breaks.

Portia: Ugh. Well, why do you need to reach Brook Lynn?

Chase: [ Sighs ] The Quartermaine’s are having this big family day, and I promised Brook Lynn that I’d be there.

Portia: Well, I think she would understand once she finds out that you were in the hospital.

Chase: It’s been a little tricky between us, trying to figure out our friendship without Bailey between us. I feel like I keep disappointing her. [ Scoffs ] Wow, I, uh, guess that bump on the head shook me up a little more than I realized. I don’t usually open up to people I don’t really know.

Portia: Well, it’s okay. It’s quite all right. Well, in my experience, I’ve found that a little effort can really go a long way.

Chase: Yeah. Hey, uh, since my phone is busted, can you help me order a ride share?

Finn: This is where we found Chase, a-and that was on the floor beside his head.

Jordan: And no one saw it hit Chase, right?

Elizabeth: No, I was upstairs asleep.

Finn: And I was bailing out Cameron.

Jordan: Elizabeth, can you download the app Chase was using so we can look at the security camera footage?

Elizabeth: Sure.

Jordan: And while you’re doing that, do you mind if I look around?

Finn: N-no. Of course. Yeah, give the place a once-over. All the doors and windows appeared to be locked.

Jordan: Well, that didn’t stop the intruder before, so let’s just cover our bases.

Elizabeth: Chase left me the app info. I just have to install it. It’s going to take a few minutes to download. The Ouija board. I didn’t think anything of it until Chase told us what was going on with Aiden. How could I have missed that?

Finn: Don’t do that. Don’t be hard on yourself. There’s a lot going on right now. And you’ve been a parent long enough to know that sometimes, when things get confusing or sad or — or a little scary, that kids latch on to a fantasy to sometimes make sense of everything.

Curtis: Damn it, Marshall.

[ Door opens ]

Curtis: We’re not open.

Trina: Curtis?

Curtis: Trina. Hey, hey, hey. What, uh — what, uh — what are you doing here?

Trina: Um, well, I was on my way to work, and I had a feeling that you might want to know.

Curtis: Know what?

Trina: It’s your dad. I saw him at the pier. He had a bag with him. He said he’s leaving town.

Sam: Hey.

Dante: Mm-hmm?

Sam: Can I please just take another second to apologize again for putting a wedge between us?

Dante: Mm.

Sam: It’s just that I’m trying to find the boundaries on, like, what this relationship is, and it’s been a really long time since I’ve… been with someone who…

Dante: Someone who what?

Sam: [ Sighs ]

Dante: It’s cool. You can tell me anything.

Sam: I was going to say someone who plays by the rules.

Dante: Um, well, I’m sorry, too. Because, uh… I feel like I came down on you harsher than I needed to.

Sam: I understand that you need to be able to trust me. I fully intend to prove that you can.

Dante: I do trust you, Sam. And, yeah, I was disappointed that you looked at privileged information. But…I know you have this, uh, impression of me as being Johnny Follow-The-Rules, but I have been known to break them from time to time too, and I’m trying to find where the line is between us also.

Sam: I think the good news is that we’re going to… have all the time in the world, because I don’t plan on going anywhere.

[ Chuckles ]

Dante: Well, me neither. ‘Cause I love you, Sam.

Sam: I love you, too.

Brook Lynn: You better have a good excuse, Chase.

Jordan: I just did a sweep of the entire house. There were no signs of forced entry. So let’s take a look at Chase’s footage.

Elizabeth: Okay. It says it’s ready.

Jordan: Okay. Now, let’s see what happened last night.

Elizabeth: Is it fair to say I’m a little nervous?

Jordan: Of course it is. We’re all just trying to find answers.

Elizabeth: What just happened?

Jordan: The video from last night — looks as if the file is corrupted.

Finn: How is that possible?

[ Air horn blows ]

Marshall: Time to go.

Curtis: Running away again, huh?

Harmony: I’m going to burn these, and that’ll be the end of it. No matches.

[ Knock on door ]

Carly: [ Sighs ] Alexis!

[ Knock on door ]

Carly: Alexis! I know that’s Harmony’s car in the driveway.

[ Door opens ]

Carly: Harmony?

Finn: Hey. Look, hopefully, this won’t take long, but, if Elizabeth wakes up before I get back, please have her call me.

Chase: Got it. And don’t worry. I got everything under control here. I can see the feeds from all the cameras on my phone, so I don’t even have to get off the couch.

Finn: Thank you. I owe you one.

Chase: No problem. We’re going to find whoever’s been harassing Elizabeth. That’s a promise.

Jordan: Cabrera. I heard you had a problem with a perp tonight.

Rory: Uh, yes, ma’am. I filled out all the appropriate paperwork.

Jordan: I was referring to that bruise. Doesn’t look too serious, but might want to ice it.

Rory: Oh, it’s not — um. I’m good.

Jordan: What happened?

Rory: A fight broke out at Kelly’s. Spencer Cassadine was the instigator.

Jordan: Spencer? At Kelly’s? Who else was involved?

Spencer: If you wouldn’t mind telling me exactly what the hell you thought you were doing back there. It’s not as though we don’t have plenty of time on our hands.

Cameron: Will you shut up? I cannot believe I’m in a jail cell right now.

Spencer: Well, if you hadn’t punched me…

Cameron: You deserved it.

Spencer: Not the point. You assaulted me. I’m locked up for absolutely no reason.

Cameron: No reason? You assaulted an officer!

Spencer: It was an accident. How is that guy even a cop?! He’s barely older than we are.

Cameron: He is not the problem. Why the hell did you say that crap about Trina filming Joss and me?

Spencer: I had to say something. You and your big mouth were about to ruin everything.

Maxie: It’s no problem. I figured it was an emergency. I was just hoping there were other doctors available that were capable of saving lives. [ Chuckles ] No, Austin, I really do understand. Do your thing and we’ll try for a different night. Okay. Good night. [ Sighs ] I hope Britt’s having better luck with her date.

[ Piano plays tender tune ]

Britt: It’s taken! That is, if he ever shows up.

[ Drew and Mia laughing ]

Drew: Well, I mean, you’ve seen the numbers, right? The digital side is doing well. A lot of that credit goes to my nephew Michael. He really knows his stuff. But the print division, now, that’s lagging and that’s — that’s kind of on me.

Mia: But you only recently took control. I mean, having returned from… an extended absence.

Drew: One way to put it.

Mia: So let me ask you a question, Mr. Cain. Do you want to run a media company, or, having survived a life-threatening incident, is there something else you’d rather do?

Marshall: [ Chuckles ]  Thank you for coming.

Epiphany: Oh, I just finished my shift. I’m glad you called.

Marshall: Yeah.

Epiphany: Then again, maybe you, uh — you needed to vent. Did something happened between you and Curtis?

Marshall: Ah, something like that. I asked to see you because I wanted to tell you personally. I’m leaving Port Charles.

Curtis: Is everything to your liking?

Selina: You’ve exceeded expectations. The back room is set up just as I asked.

Curtis: Our deal was, after the first game, you would provide me with a certain sealed police record. When can I expect that?

Selina: The game hasn’t even started yet.

Curtis: Well, just a reminder, per our agreement, you will run clean games here — no guns, no drugs.

Selina: I don’t anticipate any problems. But I’m wise enough to expect the unexpected. And I’m right.

[ Suspenseful music plays ]

Maxie: Okay.

Spinelli: Uh, Max-Maximista.

Maxie: -Spinelli!

Spinelli: -Yeah. Um — what — what do you think? It… feels a little like cosplay, but the — the — the sales associate assured me it was the right look.

Maxie: It’s fantastic. Just a few adjustments?

Spinelli: Oh.

Maxie: This. And —

Spinelli: -no, no, no, no. This pulls the whole outfit together.

Maxie: Did you mean pulls it apart? With all due respect to the salesperson that helped you, who is the fashion editor here?

Spinelli: You are. Okay.

Maxie: There. Now you’re perfect.

Spinelli: Thank you. Um — clearly, it’s been a while since I’ve… done this. [ Chuckles ]

Maxie: Done what, exactly?

Spinelli: Sought companionship.

Maxie: Oh. Something nonserious, or with the potential for something more?

Spinelli: Well, I’m — I’m a true romantic, of course, but, you know, you can’t buy if you don’t shop. [ Laughs ]

Maxie: [ Laughing ] Okay. Don’t say that to anyone, ever.

Spinelli: Noted. Um… what — what about you, what are you — is this work-related or are you out with the girls?

Maxie: No. I was supposed to meet Austin tonight, but he had a hospital emergency, which I totally understand. I just could’ve used the distraction tonight.

Spinelli: Why tonight?

Maxie: Well, after months of wavering, Britt is finally on a date, and she’s been all mysterious about the guy, so, of course, all I want to do is go over there and see him.

Britt: Face it. [ Sighs ] Cat guy’s a no-show. I think I’m relieved.

Drew: So, what are you suggesting, that I… just hand over my half of Aurora to Michael, go trekking in the Himalayas?

Mia: It’s your life. How do you want to spend it — in the boardroom or clinging to a mountainside?

Drew: Well, I’ve done the mountainside. I’ve had… moments of incredible exhilaration, but… I’ve also just missed out on a lot of time, time that I can’t get back, with my — my daughter and with my family. So, I choose the 9 to 5 boardroom.

Mia: Not surprising, but certainly impressive.

Drew: I’m sorry. You lost me.

Mia: I have asked hundreds of execs some version of that question. They all choose the boardroom.

Drew: [ Scoffs ]

Mia: And then they trip over themselves, trying to convince me that, deep down inside, there’s some dangerous man or woman yearning to live on the edge. But, in your case, you’ve actually been to the edge.

Drew: Not everybody that goes gets to come back. I feel like I owe it to them and I owe it to myself to just… embrace the life that I have here, to make the most of it. Not — not that running a company is any noble endeavor, by any means, but if I do it right, then a lot of people have jobs and my family has security.

Mia: Alright. You choose the boardroom. Next question — Aurora or ELQ?

[ Lock disengages ]

[ Keys jingling ]

[ Suspenseful music plays ]

Chase: Aiden? You’re supposed to be at your grandmother’s.

Aiden: I biked over.

Chase: It’s kind of late. You need something from your room?

Aiden: I need your help.

Rory: Uh, Webber and Cassadine were arguing. Trina Robinson and Josslyn jacks were also present. I could tell things were starting to escalate, and right as I turned around, Cameron Webber assaulted Spencer Cassadine — a punch to the face — and that’s when I intervened.

Jordan: Alone? Where was your partner?

Rory: Still at the Byrne crime scene.

Jordan: He should’ve been with you. Breaking up a fight by yourself is dangerous.

Rory: I had it handled. Uh, Webber backed off right away and, uh, Cassadine, um, was on the ground.

Jordan: So that was it, one punch?

Rory: Yeah.

Jordan: And Spencer still wants to press charges against Cameron?

Rory: Well, he didn’t say one way or the other. I brought them in on disorderly conduct.

Jordan: Both of them?

Rory: Well, first, there was, uh, Webber’s punch to Cassadine, which was an assault, and then Cassadine threw an elbow, which was assault on a police officer. So I followed procedure and, uh, took them both in. Uh, Webber was cooperative, and Cassadine… wasn’t.

Jordan: Spencer Cassadine resisted arrest? Well, not, like, physically, but he was running his mouth his entire time to the station. I mean, who does that guy think he is?

Laura: Jordan, where are my grandsons?

Cameron: Your strategy of lying to your friends and sitting back while we all go down in flames is just genius. Why wouldn’t I want that to be screwed up?

Spencer: You couldn’t even keep your mouth shut for one day.

Cameron: In case you haven’t noticed, Josslyn despises you! She’s on fire against you for being protective of Esme and throwing Trina under the bus. So, I couldn’t listen to them tear you down because you are trying, in your own weird, pathetic way, to fix everything!

Spencer: Thank you for defending me. Don’t let it happen again.

Cameron: Oh, don’t worry. I won’t. I was defending you before you landed me in jail.

Spencer: I won’t press charges. I’ll tell the cops I instigated the whole thing.

Cameron: Spencer. You sure about that? Will this whole situation violate your parole? Will being arrested land you back in prison again?

Curtis: Excuse me.

Selina: This is a surprise.

Sonny: So, this is your, uh, first night poker game? I wanted to check it out. Just curious.

Selina: I heard about the attempted robbery at Charlie’s. I hope everyone’s alright.

Sonny: [ Whispering ] I took care of it.

Selina: Of course.

Brad: Hey, a player’s requesting a brand of liquor we don’t have in the back room.

Curtis: My bar is stocked with the best. Is there a problem?

Brad: Yeah, one of the players drinks boilermakers and his beer of choice is O’Connor’s ale?

Curtis: Cheap stuff. We don’t pour that here.

Brad: He says it reminds him of the old neighborhood.

Selina: Then go buy some.

Brad: Oh, right. Sure. Um, I’ll just —

Selina: He’ll get better.

Curtis: I hope so.

Sonny: Everything okay?

Selina: Fine. I disagree. I think you’re making a big mistake.

Aiden: It’s a school project.

Chase: About trying to talk to ghosts? I got to say, this is way cooler than anything I ever did in school.

Aiden: I did a bunch of research online, all about Ouija boards. I want to test one out and write down what happens. Like an experiment.

Chase: Why not do this at your grandmother’s place?

Aiden: Her apartment is too new and modern. I figured this place would have more spirits attached because the building’s a lot older.

Chase: Is that how this works?

Aiden: Yes. But the internet says, unless you’re extra sensitive to the supernatural, you can’t use the Ouija board alone. Since mom is sleeping, will you help me?

Chase: Uh, sure. But I got to warn you, uh, I don’t think anything’s going to happen.

Aiden: I do. I have a feeling someone wants to talk to me.

Selina: I’ve already cleared this with you, Sonny. The game is going well. I fail to see how I’ve made any mistakes.

Sonny: By bringing your nephew in here? No disrespect, but Brad is a lying weasel. You got to be very careful on who you choose to represent you.

Selina: I understand your reservation about Bradley, but I assure you, he’s under my supervision now. He’ll do as I say.

Sonny: Is that so?

Selina: Unquestionably.

Maxie: Okay, you got to talk to me down. Go.

Spinelli: Well, I’m sure Britt wouldn’t appreciate you crashing her date.

Maxie: No, you’re right. She wouldn’t. Okay, good. What else you got?

Spinelli: Um, she might feel pressured, right? She’s still trying to get to know her gentleman friend.

Maxie: She’s meeting him for the first time tonight. Oh, I’m just dying to see what this match looks like!

Spinelli: -Um, match?

Maxie: -Yeah, Britt’s been using this matchmaking service, Society Setups. She got matched with six different guys, and she’s meeting the first match tonight. But you’re right, you know, I should respect her privacy.

Spinelli: I’m sure one little peek wouldn’t hurt. I mean, she won’t even know we’re there.

Maxie: “We”?

Spinelli: I’ll drive.

TJ: -Hi, guys.

Maxie: -Oh, TJ, hi. Got to run.

[ Mumbles ]

[ Footsteps on stairs ]

TJ: Uncle.

Curtis: Hey, TJ.

TJ: Have you seen grandpa Marshall? I thought he might be here.

Curtis: No, I have not. But Drew called, told me what happened at the gym.

TJ: You had Drew do a background check on Marshall?

Curtis: Yeah, I did.

TJ: He’s angry. I tried to talk to him, but he didn’t want to.

Curtis: TJ, that’s Marshall’s mo. Everything’s a secret. Makes covering his lies easier.

TJ: Did that background check dig something up? What — what is he lying about?

Epiphany: I thought you said making amends with Curtis was important to you. So, now there’s no hope?

Marshall: Let’s just say we are at an impasse.

Epiphany: Since when? The last time I looked, you and Curtis were doing just fine.

Marshall: [ Scoffs ] Yeah, I thought so, too. It seems that Curtis doesn’t want a relationship with me. At least not — not on the terms I can accept.

Epiphany: [ Sighs ] Where are you going to go?

Marshall: It’s yet to be determined. But come tomorrow — [ Claps ] I’m gone.

Epiphany: I thought you said that getting your family back was the most important thing to you. So why are you going to leave again?

Marshall: Look, look, I regret that. I regret it, I truly do, but the fact of the matter is, Epiphany, I should’ve stayed gone. Should’ve stayed gone. Expecting my family to — to let me back in, after all this time… it’s too much — too much to ask.

Epiphany: You’re damn right it was.

Drew: Well, you’ve certainly given me a lot to think about.

Mia: Well, then my work is done.

Drew: I’m really glad we got a chance to finally meet face-to-face.

Mia: Me too. You are a refreshing departure from my…usual client.

Drew: Mm. Well, I’ll call you, uh, and set up our next consultation.

Mia: I look forward to it.

Drew: Evening, Britt.

Britt: Good evening. [ Laughs ] Do you end all your dates with a handshake? I know it’s been a while, but you might want to speed up the process.

Drew: Well, that was a business meeting. Thank you.

Britt: Oh, so much for my powers of perception.

Drew: Ha ha. Forgive the cliché, but is that seat taken?

Britt: It is now. Please, join me.

Drew: Great. I haven’t seen you in a long time. How are you?

Britt: Fine.

Drew: That was a real question. Honestly, how — how are you?

Britt: Okay. Maybe I’m not fine. [ Chuckles ] But for now, I’m better. For one thing, I don’t have to keep holding that seat.

Drew: Were you expecting somebody?

Britt: So, your associate, um, Aurora or ELQ?

Drew: Wait, what?

Britt: Your business meeting.

Drew: Oh! Oh! Um — well, maybe a little of both, actually. Mia’s a coach.

Britt: Oh. Wow. You must take your softball league [Laughing] Pretty seriously. I mean, you don’t have to get ready. You seem to be in pretty good shape to me.

Drew: Well, thank you very much. Mia’s an executive coach, to help get the most out of your business.

Britt: Oh.

Drew: Yeah, I’m back at Aurora, and… I don’t know. I’m kind of stuck and just don’t really know which direction to take it. Mia had some — some very interesting ideas.

Britt: Good luck. Just remember, sometimes it’s best to trust your own instincts. Advice can lead you in the wrong direction.

Rory: Mayor Collins, I made the arrest. I didn’t realize that the perps were related to the —

Laura: Both perps are my grandsons. Where are they?

Rory: They’re in their cells, ma’am.

Laura: Have they been charged?

Jordan: No. We’re still sorting it out. How did you find out?

Laura: I was Spencer’s one phone call.

Finn: And I was Cameron’s. Hi.

Laura: Hi.

Cameron: How are you supposed to help Trina, if you’re back behind bars?

Spencer: They can’t send me back. I served my sentence.

Cameron: But isn’t a part of your sentence working at Ava’s gallery? How are you supposed to manage that if —

Spencer: I’m not going back! No way! It’s a bogus charge!

Cameron: You cracked a uniformed officer in the face.

Spencer: I’ll sue the PDPD, if I have to, for harassment.

Cameron: So that’s your solution — making threats and throwing around money? Thank God you’re not the only one helping Trina because —

Spencer: We need to calm down. We are going to get out of here and then I will go back to making Esme slip up. That is our best chance at getting Trina exonerated. We just have to stick to the plan.

Laura: And what plan is that, exactly?

Aiden: You have to place your fingertips lightly on the planchette.

Chase: Got it.

Aiden: I’ll be the leader. That’s the one asking the questions. Is there a spirit present? Does anyone have a message for us? Franco?

Chase: Hey, buddy, I don’t —

Chase: It’s okay, buddy. It was probably just a breeze.

Aiden: You know it wasn’t. It was Franco! He’s trying to contact us! Look at everything he’s done so far — the portrait of mom, “Don’t forget me” spray painted on the photos, mom’s dress, and her wedding ring!

Chase: Okay, a lot of unsettling things have happened, but it’s deliberate. Someone wants us to believe this.

Aiden: Yes — Franco! The cops can’t find evidence of anyone getting into the house because no one is. It’s Franco’s ghost.

Chase: I don’t believe in ghosts.

Aiden: Lots of people do. Ms. Coe, the cosmetics lady, does.

Chase: Okay, why would Franco want to scare his family like this?

Aiden: He doesn’t mean to. He hasn’t hurt anyone. Not yet.

Chase: Whoa, Aiden, “not yet”? Nobody’s getting hurt, okay? That’s why I’m here, to protect your mom and find out who’s behind this. That’s why I installed all these cameras around the house.

Aiden: You shouldn’t have done that. What if it makes Franco mad?

Spencer: Grandmother. Thank God!

Laura: Are you both alright?

Cameron: You called Grandma?

Spencer: I didn’t want to wait for my father to get here from Spoon Island.

Cameron: Oh, so I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that she’s the mayor.

Laura: [ Clears throat ] Finn is upstairs waiting for you, and this officer will walk you up there.

[ Keys jingling ]

Laura: I think I might just leave you there.

Spencer: What? Why? That guy completely overreacted!

Laura: I saw the bruise on that officer’s face.

Spencer: That guy? [ Scoffs ] He was trying to give me a hard time because he has it out for me.

Laura: “That guy” is an officer of the law, and you will adjust your attitude immediately.

Sonny: Looks like you got a bunch of heavy hitters. I’m impressed.

Selina: I think of it as high-stakes networking.

Sonny: [ Laughter ] I think I want to go back and, uh, say hello.

Selina: No, you don’t want to interrupt the game.

Sonny: Oh, yes, I do. They won’t even notice.

Brad: I got the brewskis. Judge Abbot’s all set.

Selina: Never say a player’s name in public. My associates expect discretion.

Brad: Sorry. I’m sorry.

Selina: This is only your first game, but I expect you to learn quickly and to never, ever make the same mistake twice, hm?

Drew: I take it you’ve received some less than helpful advice lately.

Britt: [ Laughing ] Oh. My — my mother’s still pressuring me to use that matchmaking service she signed me up for.

Drew: Mm.

Britt: Yeah, I know.

Drew: No! I actually think it’s kind of sweet. I mean, I — it’s hard for me to picture Liesl Obrecht having faith in a matchmaker, but then again, I saw her on Cassadine Island, how much she loves you. She probably just wants you to be happy.

Britt: And she means well. [ Laughs ] But some things can’t be forced.

Drew: Hm. I also have felt the pressure of well-meaning loved ones trying to get me to regain my lost life. Reconnecting with Scout has been an absolute joy, and my family and friends. I’m just — I’m just having a harder time at Aurora.

Britt: Well, I mean, after what you’ve been through, you’re en-entitled an adjustment period.

Drew: I’ve been back awhile, you know? I probably should have my act together by now.

Britt: [ Scoffs ] It’s funny. I actually have the opposite problem. I am so focused on my job. You know, I love what I do as co-Chief of Staff at G.H., And I just don’t know if I’m ready for a relationship right now.

Drew: Well, what if you’re not?! It’s okay to be unsure. I mean, life’s got a way of kind of doing what it wants, anyway, so you just got to roll with the punches. You have plenty of time to figure it out.

Britt: Right.

Drew: I’m sorry if that sounded glib. I didn’t — I didn’t mean to offend you.

Britt: No, no, you didn’t. [ Laughs ] It’s — it’s actually nice to know I’m not the only one struggling to figure [Laughing] Things out.

Drew: Well, it’s nice to know that my struggles bring you comfort.

[ Laughter ]

Britt: I didn’t mean it like that.

Drew: I’m just messing with you. I’m just kidding.

Maxie: Oh, my god, Britt! Drew is your match?! Why didn’t you tell me? This is amazing!

Chase: You mad at me for calling Kevin to come pick you up?

Aiden: I could’ve ridden my bike back to the apartment. Now, he’ll tell my grandma. She’ll be all worried about me. [ Sighs ] Or worse — he’ll try and talk it out with me.

Chase: [ Chuckles ] It doesn’t hurt to talk about it. Do you want to talk to your mom?

Aiden: No! Don’t wake her up. I don’ t want you guys to worry about me. I made a big deal out of nothing.

Chase: You don’t have to worry, Aiden. I’m going to figure this out, and I’m going to stop the scary things from happening, alright?

Maxie: I have to say, I’m a little surprised, but I could see it. It could work.

Britt: -No, no, no, Maxie! You have it all wrong. Drew is not my match. We just ran into each other.

Maxie: Bummer.

Drew: Oh! You had a date, like, tonight.

Britt: [ Sighs ] I got stood up, okay?

Maxie: [ Gasps ]

Drew: Ah.

Britt: Remember that matchmaking service I told you about earlier? My mother signed me up for Society Setups, and I was set up to fail. My date never showed.

Spinelli: Perhaps the gentleman was just delayed.

Britt: By 30 minutes, with no explanation or text? He’s clearly not coming! I didn’t even want to do this in the first place, and now I’ve been blown off by some jerk?

Spinelli: Okay, that’s not possible!

Spencer: And because I basically provoked Cameron, I will not be pressing charges against him.

Jordan: Cameron, you’re free to go.

Cameron: But what about Spencer?

Finn: Quit while you’re ahead. Let’s go.

Cameron: But we can’t just —

Finn: now.

Cameron: [ Sighs ]

Spencer: What about me?

Jordan: That’s up to the arresting officer.

[ Keys jingling ]

Cameron: Thanks.

Finn: Hey, charges were dismissed. I’m, uh, bringing Cam home to Elizabeth’s.

Chase: Good. Hey, just out of curiosity, who was the officer?

Finn: Uh, new guy, rookie. Um, look, Cam’s starving, so we’re going to stop off and get something to eat. You need anything? Uh, how’s everything going over there?

Chase: Uh, I’m good. And it is now. Aiden was here. Kevin just picked him up.

Finn: Aiden was there? Did he need to speak to Elizabeth?

Chase: Uh, she’s still sleeping. You know, it’s a long story. I’ll, uh — I’ll fill you in when you get here.

Epiphany: If you truly believe the right thing to do is to cut and run, then you haven’t learned anything! And you are definitely not doing your family any favors by sticking around. Are you that man? Because I thought you were different. Maybe — maybe you fooled me with your pretty words and how passionately you played that clarinet of yours. Maybe you put all your soul into your music so that there’s nothing left for the people around you in your life.

Marshall: [ Voice breaking ] That’s not fair, Epiphany. I love my family. I love them. I only left because I cared about them.

Epiphany: Are you sure? Or is that just an excuse that you’re making for yourself? Because caring from a distance? It could be a lot easier than sticking around. So now you have a choice. You can disappear or you can stick it out. Talk to Curtis. Fight for that family that you say you love!

Selina: There are many associates who could have supervised the game. I chose you because it’s an expression of respect to have —

[ Voice fades ]

TJ: Is everything okay?

Curtis: Yeah. Yeah, T, um, just a busy night.

TJ: It’s a good thing grandpa Marshall didn’t come here and confront you.

Curtis: Yeah, well, I doubt he would’ve done that because I’d have confronted him right back about what he’s been hiding. I’m not exactly sure what that is, or what Marshall’s lying about, but, uh, I have a feeling we’re going to find out soon enough.

Sonny: Hey, Dr. Ashford. Good to see you.

TJ: They let me take a break from the hospital every now and then. It’s good to see you, too. How’s Avery’s arm?

Sonny: Hey, you know what? Everything’s good, thanks to you.

TJ: Glad to hear it.

Sonny: This guy’s great, you know what I mean?

TJ: [ Laughs ]

Sonny: Uh, can I get a second with your uncle?

TJ: Yeah, of course.

Sonny: Thank you.

Curtis: Thank you.

TJ: I’ll be at the bar.

Sonny: So, it looks like you found a way to access the information you were after.

Curtis: What makes you say that?

Sonny: Well, I mean, like, backroom poker’s not really your style.

Curtis: [ Sighs ] It’s just business.

Maxie: Are you okay?

Spinelli: I simply meant to say that no man in his right mind would — would stand up someone so… accomplished and fair of face as — as you, Britt.

Britt: Thanks? I probably dodged a bullet. Matchmaking is such a desperate and fickle endeavor. I mean, how can anyone decide which two people will click?

Spinelli: Okay, I-I pray that you — you don’t give up hope. The theory behind matchmaking is — is sound, you know? Matching couples based on common interests and meticulous analysis, it provides a solid foundation.

Maxie: Oh, my gosh! Look at the time. We need to go.

Spinelli: We — we do? Yes! Um, I’m really sorry that your date stood you up, Britt. He doesn’t know what he’s missing.

Britt: Thanks, Maxie.

Maxie: And don’t forget — you matched with five other guys.

Drew: [ Chuckles ] Oh. Hey. You’re looking sharp, man.

Spinelli: Oh, thanks. [ Laughs ] My attire’s more suited for The Savoy than for here, but, because of Maxie’s curiosity in Britt’s date, I had to retire from there prematurely.

Drew: Oh, well, still, looking good.

Spinelli: Thank you. Since my life’s taken an unexpected turn, I’M… trying something new. [ Chuckles ]

Drew: Yeah, I know the feeling.

Spencer: Come on, man. You got to agree it was an accident. I didn’t mean to hit you. You walked into it.

Laura: [ Clears throat ]

Spencer: But I should’ve followed your instructions. It was disrespectful. I’m sorry. What? What?

Jordan: Your call, officer.

Rory: I’m going to let you off with a warning.

Jordan: Thank you, officer.

Laura: [ Sighs ]

Rory: Commissioner.

Laura: Thank you.

Spencer: Uh, Commissioner Ashford, do you have to report this?

Jordan: Pardon?

Spencer: Could I go back to prison? I haven’t served my restitution hours yet.

Jordan: You’re not on parole, so, no, there are no consequences.

Laura: But if you had been charged, any judge would take into consideration how quickly you got back into trouble after you’d served your sentence.

Jordan: Oh, definitely. You got lucky today. I sincerely hope you appreciate that. Now, you’re free to go.

[ Clattering ]

Chase: Elizabeth?

Selina: Don’t let the beer get warm.

Sonny: I’m leaving. Good job tonight.

Curtis: Ms. Wu.

Selina: Please, Selina. We’re partners now, in this endeavor.

Curtis: Right. And about that — the first game has begun.

Selina: Yes?

Curtis: I was promised Marshall Ashford’s sealed police records. I’m waiting.

Selina: You’ll get it. Tomorrow, first thing.

Curtis: [ Sighs ]

Marshall: Look, I know this looks like I’m pulling another disappearing act. And I also know that I’m probably letting you down, too.

Epiphany: [ Crying ] You’re letting yourself down. This is about the man you say you hope to be for your family. You have so much to give, Marshall.

Marshall: I wanted to be that man. I wanted to be that man you see in me.

Epiphany: [ Normal voice ] Then stay.

Marshall: [ Chuckles ] You’re making it harder for me to go, Epiphany.

Epiphany: Good. Because we both know that things get harder before they get better. And from the way that I see things, everything’s been getting better between you and Curtis. You — you just need to ride out this rough patch. Give it some time. Do you really need to leave tomorrow?

Spinelli: Um, hey, wh-why the hasty exit? Did you think Drew and Britt wanted to be alone?

Maxie: What was up with you in there? Why were you so interested in Britt’s epic fail of a matchup?

Spinelli: I-I-I just couldn’t understand what kind of cad would leave her hanging.

Maxie: [ Gasps ] Are you interested in her?

Spinelli: What?! N-n-no!

Maxie: Okay. Um… are you thinking of joining society setups yourself?

Drew: We deserve another.

Britt: You know, Spinelli means well, but — yes.

Drew: [ Laughs ]

Britt: Yes, we do.

Drew: Okay. To an uncertain future and all it may bring.

Britt: Cheers.

Drew: Cheers.

[ Clinks ]

Laura: Jordan, thank you for your help. And for your discretion.

Jordan: Ah, this was an easy one. Much ado about nothing.

Spencer: See? Jordan gets it.

Laura: She’s Commissioner Ashford to you, and I hope you heard what she said about how lucky you were today because it could’ve played out very differently.

Spencer: Oh, I heard, grandmother, and, to continue in a Shakespearean vein, all’s well that ends well.

Laura: Do you think this is funny? Because I can assure you, I don’t. What are you doing with your life, really? Are you trying to get sent back to prison?

Spencer: No, of course not.

Laura: Then act like a responsible adult! And Cameron? Cameron is not a violent guy, but he has learned the hard way that his actions have consequences. Now, tell me, what did you do to provoke him?

Spencer: Grandmother, it’s over. Cameron and I straightened it out. We’re good.

Laura: Don’t you ever try to dismiss me again! And, by the way, when an officer of the law tells you to do something, you do it.

Cameron: Thank you for coming to get me and not telling my mom. I’m just glad she’s getting a decent night’s sleep.

Finn: Yeah, think of it as a 12-hour reprieve. You’re going to have to tell her, Cam.

[ Keys jingling ]

Finn: Chase! Hey. Chase!

Trina (to Marshall): Are you leaving for good?

Chase: That might be easier than you think.

Harmony: Not nearly enough. Come on, Alexis. Live a little. One drink’s not going to kill you.

Alexis: Oh, my god.

Harmony: You know what it’s like to want to forget your troubles.

Josslyn: “We don’t know what Spencer’s actually up to”? I mean, Cam, what does that mean?

Cameron: You — you guys were wrong about him.

Josslyn: Do you hear yourself? Spencer has to know in his heart, deep down, that Esme is guilty of recording and posting that video. But he convinced himself to blame Trina. Why? Because Spencer was too weak and too shallow to stand up against his girlfriend, and now you’re defending him?

Trina: Joss, stop. It’s okay. Let’s all take a step back.

Josslyn: No, no, it’s — it’s not okay. If you don’t call Spencer out, that’s as good as standing with him.

Cameron: Joss, you’d side with him, too, if you knew what I know.

Josslyn: And what is that?

Spencer: Cameron, stop. That’s enough.

Esme: Is Ava working late at the gallery again?

Nikolas: Ava doesn’t share her schedule with me.

Nikolas: Not tonight.

Esme: I know you and Ava disagree about my staying here, but it will all be resolved once you renew your wedding vows.

Nikolas: Ava called off the ceremony. We won’t be renewing our vows.

Ava: Hmm. Well, I assume that Sonny knows about this. What does he think of it?

Laura: Hi, Sonny.

Laura: Is everything okay?

Sonny: Yeah, everything’s good. And if it’s not, it will be.

Alexis: Will you please close out my friend’s tab and put it on my account?

Harmony: Alexis, no, no. You have been way too kind to me. Better than I deserve.

Alexis: If we both got what we deserved, we’d both be back in Pentonville.

Alexis: -I have no idea. This has been a day from hell.

Sam: What happened?

Cameron: You’re right. Enough is enough. If you won’t tell them, then I will.

Josslyn: Tell us what?

Trina: You know what? I-I can’t do this. I’m out of here.

Josslyn: I’ll come with you.

Cameron: No, look, wait, you guys got to hear this.

Trina: Hear what? That Spencer thinks I’m guilty and that you got his back?

Cameron: Yes. No. I mean, look, I-I do, but there’s limits. Just let me explain —

Spencer: Damn it, Cameron, I can speak for myself. Cameron is right. There is something that you guys should know. And I can’t keep it from you anymore.

Esme: Ava called off the wedding vow renewal? I’m so sorry.

Nikolas: To be fair, she only postponed it… indefinitely.

Esme: [ Sighs ] It’s me, isn’t it? Ava doesn’t want me here. I should just go.

Nikolas: Well, even if you were to move out, Ava and I have changed. And I’m not sure how we recapture the spirit that led us to want to renew the vows in the first place.

Esme: You’ll find that magic again. When two people love each other the way that you and Ava do —

Nikolas: love isn’t the problem. Never has been. It’s a matter of trust.

Esme: I know what you mean.

Nikolas: You and Spencer are still struggling with trust issues?

Esme: At least spence doesn’t believe the awful things that Ava and Sonny think about me.

Nikolas: That you’re responsible for that video of Cameron and Josslyn.

Esme: They just refuse to accept that it was Trina, never mind that all of the evidence points towards her, that she had motive and was physically in the cabin while I was long gone. It’s easier to blame me.

Nikolas: It’s not only Ava and Sonny that believe it.

Esme: You’ve changed your mind about me?

Nikolas: Commissioner Ashford was here today. She was asking questions about you.

Ava: So which side will Sonny be on when you go into court demanding the right to see your grandson?

Sonny: You gotta know, if you to court on this and, uh, lines are gonna be drawn, sides are gonna be taken. And if I don’t take a side, that means I’m taking your side.

Nina: Well, Sonny, I would never, ever ask you to choose me over your son.

Sonny: No.

Nina: I wouldn’t do that.

Sonny: Right.

Nina: So if you have to go against me in court and support Michael’s attempt to block my petition, then I’ll understand that.

Nina: I-I told Sonny that I don’t expect him to take a side.

Ava: Well, that’s noble. But with Scott as your lawyer…

Nina: Scott is not gonna put Sonny on the stand, because if he does, I will fire him.

Ava: Wow, well, you — you feel very strongly about protecting Sonny, huh?

Sonny: Thank you very much.

Nina: Well, wh-what’s a girl supposed to do, Ava? He just — he keeps coming to my rescue.

Ava: Hmm. Sounds like a real hero.

Nina: He is.

Sonny: What are you gonna have?

Laura: Information. From you. Tell me about the robbery at Charlie’s.

Sonny: Ah, you know, just a couple of thugs. Um, Brando did the heavy lifting, and then, um, I was just making sure that, uh, Nina wasn’t hurt.

Laura: All in a day’s work, right, Sonny?

Sonny: Yeah, nobody’s going to be, uh, messing with anybody anymore, especially those guys.

Laura: I wish I could say that about whoever killed Luke. The WSB arrested Jennifer Smith.

Sonny: She didn’t seem too threatening when she showed up after Luke’s memorial.

Laura: And I remember you couldn’t get her on a plane home fast enough.

Sonny: Well, you know, she always seemed hung up on Luke, but being hung up on Luke and, you know, trying to kill him is, like, a big jump.

Laura: Yeah. There’s more.

Sonny: Oh?

Laura: She was caught red-handed with the Ice Princess.

Sonny: Well, case closed. That’s it. Or not.

Harmony: No, Carly, please don’t call my daughter, okay?

Carly: Harmony, calm down. You need to calm down.

Harmony: I’m calm, I’m calm. I’m calm. I just need to find my keys.

Sam: Did something happen?

Alexis: I’ll talk to you about it in the morning. I need to take Harmony home.

Carly: Alexis, don’t worry about her car. I’ll have it brought to your house later.

Harmony: Okay. Found them. Okay.

Carly: Okay, I’m going to put those behind the bar…

Sam: Hey.

Carly: …For safe keeping.

Sam: Hey, do you need help?

Alexis: No, I got it.

Sam: Call if you change your mind, okay?

Alexis: I will. I will. Harmony, come on, let’s go.

Harmony: Wait, my — my bag. Guess I’m not getting that job, huh?

Alexis: Let’s go.

Carly: Are you okay with that?

Sam: Hell no, I’m not.

[ Thunder rumbles ]

Alexis: I’ll take your bag.

Harmony: No, I got it.

Alexis: Okay, why don’t you… I’ll make some coffee. Go lie down, okay?

Harmony: Please don’t leave me.

Alexis: Harmony, what — what is going on with you? Are — are you sick?

Harmony: Terrified.

Alexis: Of what?

Harmony: Not what. Who.

Alexis: Who are you terrified of?

Harmony: Me.

Trina: Okay, Mr. Two-faced. What do you think I should know?

Cameron: Go on. Tell her.

Josslyn: Tell her what? What do you and Spencer know that Trina and I don’t?

Trina: Officer Cabrera, are you following me? You keep showing up to Kelly’s every time I’m here.

Rory: Uh, just getting decent coffee for me and the rest of the squad. It’s been a long day. Uh, you okay, Ms. Robinson?

Josslyn: We’re all friends here. Well, some of us are friends.

Rory: Good to know.

Trina: You were saying?

Cameron: Go on, Spencer, don’t stop now.

Spencer: It’s about Josslyn.

Esme: What did Commissioner Ashford want to know?

Nikolas: She has to talk to you and Spencer. The staff informed her that you wouldn’t be speaking with her without an attorney present.

Esme: I doubt the staff came up with that on their own.

Nikolas: I told them what to say and to send the commissioner on her way as politely as possible.

Esme: Thank you for protecting me. Us. I’m sure the commissioner would love to make me the scapegoat.

Nikolas: Mm, from what the staff told me, the commissioner wasn’t accusing you of anything.

Esme: Well, not openly, maybe, but I’m sure she would much rather be building a case against me than Trina. Spencer was just starting to believe in me again, and if the commissioner turns him against me and then convinces you, too —

Nikolas: That’s not going to happen.

Esme: Thank you.

Ava: Those punks would not have tried to rob Charlie’s when my brother owned it.

Nina: Ava, are you implying that they weren’t afraid of Sonny?

Ava: I’m just saying. If you and I know that his time in Nixon Falls changed him, who’s to say word didn’t get out?

Nina: Yeah, but he’s Sonny Corinthos. You should have seen how he and Brando took those thieves down. Even with guns, those punks didn’t have a chance.

Ava: And here I thought you fell for Mike the bartender, not Sonny the mobster. Guess we’re not so different after all.

Nina: And what do you mean by that?

Ava: Couldn’t resist a bad boy.

Laura: The WSB has Jennifer in custody. So as far as they’re concerned, the matter is closed.

Sonny: You think there’s more?

Laura: The Ice Princess doesn’t just connect to Luke’s death.

Sonny: Mm-hmm.

Laura: It brings the Cassadines into it.

Sonny: Victor?

Laura: Yeah. He’s made no secret that he’s got some kind of a plan in the works.

Sonny: Anything I can do?

Laura: Your friend Brick, that guy has his finger in more pies than I can count. If he hears anything…

Sonny: You’ll be the first to know.

Laura: Will I, though, Sonny? I was the last to know that my grandson was moving back to live at Wyndemere. And with his girlfriend. And it was all because of you.

Sam: Harmony Miller was and still is trouble.

Carly: Alright, well, Alexis doesn’t seem bothered by it.

Sam: Well, my mom made it very clear that her friendship with Harmony was her business.

Alexis: I-I was alone in that prison for a long time, and — and Harmony was my only friend. And not only that, New Year’s Eve, you know, I was sitting right there in that chair staring at a bunch of champagne flutes that I was really thinking about downing. And Harmony sat there and talked to me until I came to my senses. So things would have gone a lot differently if it weren’t for Harmony. I really have Harmony to thank for that.

Sam: I had no choice but to back off just now.

Carly: Okay. Well, Harmony is Willow’s mom, so I’m inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt. But getting so drunk at the bar that you can barely stand, that can’t be good for Alexis. But I’m going to stop because I have no right to give you advice.

Sam: You don’t hear me shutting you down.

Carly: That’s because you’re being polite, which is totally unnecessary since I asked you to use your relationship with Dante to find out what the PCPD had on Trina.

Sam: We have been over this, and you didn’t make me do anything that I didn’t want to do. I made the decision to go into Dante’s e-mails and look up forensic information.

Carly: Yes, but after I badgered you about Trina’s innocence and how Esme was guilty, which is true, by the way, but still, I put you on the spot, and I really hope Dante forgave you.

Sam: Mm, we’ve got a lot of work to do on that.

Carly: I’m sorry. But after you saw the forensic e-mail, was there anything that could help Trina?

Cameron: We’re not talking about Josslyn here.

Spencer: I am. I told Cameron I wanted to believe your story, but honestly, I was just trying to please Josslyn because I know that you two are good friends.

Josslyn: Yeah, we’re good friends. We’re best friends. Not that you’d have any idea what that means. Because friendship is just a word to you, Spencer. No, actually, it’s — it’s more of a commodity. It’s something that you buy, like you buy everything else. So it’s no surprise that you can’t wrap your mind around the fact that I actually believe in Trina because I know her.

Spencer: That’s you, Josslyn. Always ready to fight, do whatever it takes to win.

Cameron: Where are you going with this?

Spencer: Why try to throw all the blame on Esme? After we left the cabin that night, you three were all alone, so did you get Trina to film that video of you getting it on with Cameron? What if this was all just Josslyn’s way of framing Esme?

Josslyn: -Oh, my god.

Trina: -Are you crazy?

Cameron: Son of a bitch!

Nina: I have kissed a lot of very handsome frogs, but I’ve never found my prince.

Ava: Well, I have an actual prince. And I’m starting to prefer the croakers on spoon island.

Nina: Uh-oh. What’d Nikolas do now?

Ava: [ Sighs ] Plenty. And I’m furious. But to be fair, I’m not completely blameless in the situation, and nor is your heartthrob over there.

Nina: What’d Sonny do?

Ava: I’m surprised he didn’t tell you. After Trina was wrongfully arrested, accused of being responsible for this revenge porn video, I went to Sonny and I urged him to have A…private chat with Esme.

Nina: He would never hurt a teenager.

Ava: Yeah, no. But he’s certainly an expert at the art of intimidation. He can terrify somebody without even raising his voice. And I was hoping that he would get Esme to confess, but he didn’t get the chance because Nikolas figured out what was going on and came to Esme’s rescue, and she loved that. She played the poor, innocent waif in need of protection. And then the next thing you know, Nikolas invited Spencer and Esme to stay with us without even asking me first.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Nina: Okay, can you just hold that thought, please? Just one second. Hey, Phyllis. Have you recovered from last night? What? Oh, no.

Sonny: Uh, Spencer’s girlfriend and I, we — we had a little chat.

Laura: How little?

Sonny: Well, you got to understand something. Um, after what Esme did with that tape, you know, of Cameron and Josslyn, that cannot go unchallenged.

Laura: And I’m not saying that it shouldn’t, but this is where we part ways, because I do trust the justice system.

Sonny: Even after Trina Robinson got arrested, and now she could go to prison while, uh, Esme is being protected by Nikolas on Spoon Island?

Laura: [ Sighs ] Okay, first of all, who said that Trina Robinson is going to prison? She’s going to get a trial so she can prove her innocence.

Sonny: Right, but Esme can make that difficult for her.

Laura: Sonny. Yes. If anything happens to Esme now, you are suspect number one, and I will have Robert Scorpio prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.

Sonny: Laura, Laura, Laura. Okay, listen, I promise you that even if Esme is found guilty, I won’t touch a hair on her head.

Nina: Hey, Sonny, I’m sorry to interrupt, but I just heard from Phyllis. Those two men that tried to rob Charlie’s, they’re back on the street.

Sam: Dante arrived before I could read the details, but the CSU e-mail said that there was more evidence tying Trina to the crime.

Carly: [ Sighs ] This is bad. Diane said the prosecuting is tough and she has a strong conviction record. And even though I know that Esme framed Trina and planted every shred of evidence, the ADA doesn’t know that. She’s going to use that evidence and send the wrong person to jail.

Sam: Yeah, sometimes law doesn’t have much to do with justice.

Carly: Yeah. Look no further than Nina’s right to petition the court for visitation with Wiley.

Sam: Okay, just because she can petition doesn’t mean she can win.

Carly: I don’t know about that. Nina has a really great way of convincing people that she’s a misunderstood saint. Oh, did I tell you that Sonny cut back on his drinking? Which is great, right? It’s great because it’s great for his health, it’s great for his relationship with Donna and Avery, but guess who convinced him? What?

Sam: Nothing. [ Chuckles ] Nothing, I’m just listening to you vent. Do you feel better?

Carly: Yeah, I know, I said I was making a clean break, right?

Sam: Nice try. We both know it’s never clean.

Harmony: Every choice I make is the wrong one. Up there on Rana point… …it’s a good place to think, right? Wrong. It’s quiet. It’s away from everyone. It looks peaceful, but… looks can be deceiving. And it didn’t help. It made things worse. So what could I do? I just went for a drink.

Alexis: I have not seen you like this before. What happened?

Harmony: I had one hope, one thing to cling to, and it was — it was her. It was Willow.

Alexis: Did you tell her? Did you tell Willow that she wasn’t your biological child? Is that what this is?

Harmony: No. No, not yet. But I will. ‘Cause she’s bound to find out.

Alexis: Well, she’s not going to find out from me. She’ll find out from you. Did you decide to tell her?

Harmony: No. No, not yet.

Alexis: Harmony, I have no idea what is going on with you, but it — [ Sighs ] It — it can’t be as bad as what I just saw.

Harmony: What happened to you tonight?

Alexis: Do you remember the guy that was in my office, b-Brendan Byrne, Neil’s brother?

Harmony: What about him?

Alexis: He’s dead. I found him face down in the harbor

Harmony: W-where was this?

Alexis: On the pier. I was — I was waiting for the launch to go to Spoon Island, and I look over, I see this body floating in the harbor. And then I called the police, and then they fished him out.

Harmony: And you’re sure it was the man I met at your office?

Alexis: I’m positive. Same guy who tried to wrest money from my guilty conscience.

Harmony: You have nothing to be guilty for.

Alexis: I know that. Jordan doesn’t know that. She was filled with questions, looking for a motive.

Harmony: You didn’t kill him! And if the police think that, I’ll —

Alexis: You’ll what? I’m just —

Harmony: I’m sorry, Alexis. You had such a terrible night. And it’s all my fault.

Alexis: I have no idea what’s going on with you. But Brendan’s death is not your fault. You didn’t murder him. By the way, they think it was a suicide.

Carly: I want you to know that I’m grateful for your friendship.

Sam: I’m grateful for your friendship, too. Now, are we ready for a return trip to the hatchet-throwing gallery? Because I think we could use some frustrations to be let out.

Carly: Oh, okay, like Harmony?

Sam: And Esme.

Carly: It’s a deal.

Sam: Oh, can we drop Harmony’s car off at my mom’s on the way back?

Carly: Yes, and that way, you can check on your mom.

Sam: [ Sighs ] Who insists she doesn’t need my help.

Carly: Come on.

Laura: Jordan confirmed it. The gunmen made bail. So… well, I think we’re done here, aren’t we, Sonny?

Sonny: Yeah. Um, I’ll take care of the bill, and…great talking to you.

Laura: Thanks. I’ll catch up with Ava.

Nina: You knew about this, didn’t you?

Sonny: Yeah, I have my sources. Um, some high-priced lawyer showed up at the arraignment and notified the judge that the bail had been paid.

Nina: By whom?

Sonny: Somebody with deep pockets.

Nina: A friend of yours?

Sonny: Nina. I told you these were punks who would try and take advantage of me because Jason’s gone.

Nina: Well, in other words, you’re saying don’t ask too many questions.

Sonny: It’s — it’s better off in the long run.

Nina: Sonny, I don’t know what it was like with you and Carly, but you don’t need to protect me. I know you. And I also know Mike. It doesn’t have to be either/or. Because they’re both you.

Ava: What are the chances those two can actually pull it off?

Laura: Hmm. I think if you and Nikolas can make a go of it, then anything is possible.

Ava: You didn’t pick a very good example.

Laura: I know there’s tension at home now.

Ava: It isn’t home. It’s a boarding house. Everybody has their own room. Nikolas has his, I have mine, Spencer has his, that French devil has hers.

Laura: Hmm. At least she’s not pregnant. That’s something we have to be grateful for. And when you and Nikolas renew your vows —

Ava: Oh. Oh, no, that’s not going to happen.

Esme: Your son is still a child in many ways. His emotions swing back and forth like a pendulum. But…you’re so much more mature and experienced than Spence. If Commissioner Ashford has you thinking the worst of me, I-I wouldn’t be able to bear it.

Nikolas: You’re right. In many ways, my son is still very naive. But I’m not. I know what you’re capable of. I haven’t forgotten that you helped my son terrorize Ava.

Esme: I-I can explain. I don’t need your explanation.

Nikolas: You’re not the only one that’s driven by demons. The kind that force you to do desperate things.

Esme: We’re alike that way.

Nikolas: My mother isn’t sure that I’ll ever outgrow that part of myself. But you still have time to get it right, and I know the difference between a lonely heart and a wicked one.

Esme: Which one am I?

Josslyn: Hey, what is wrong with you?!

Cameron: He does not get to talk to you like that!

Trina: Are you okay?

Spencer: Some things are worth it.

Rory: I saw the whole thing.

Cameron: Well, then you heard what he said.

Rory: You’re under arrest.

[ Handcuffs click ]

Harmony: Is that what the police think? They think that guy, Brendan, committed suicide?

Alexis: I think they’re still investigating. They don’t know. Maybe it’s likely. I mean, he wasn’t murdered for his money, ’cause he was desperate and in debt. I-I mean, I don’t know, who would want him dead?

Harmony: I got to get out of here.

Alexis: Now?

Harmony: Yeah, there’s something I — I need to do.

Alexis: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. You’re not going anywhere right now. Not in this condition.

[ Knock on door ]

Harmony: It’s the police.

Alexis: It is not the police. I’ve already talked to Jordan. Sam?

Sam: Hey, uh…

Carly: We won’t stay long.

Sam: Yeah, Carly’s just dropping off Harmony’s keys.

Carly: I’m putting your keys right here. Please do not go anywhere, okay?

Alexis: I’ll keep an eye on her.

Harmony: Th-thank you. Thank you all. Sorry.

Carly: Oh, oh! Are…

Trina: Y-you can’t arrest Cam.

Josslyn: Hey, he was provoked, alright? Spencer was pretty much asking to get punched.

Trina: Cameron was just standing up for us.

Cameron: Yeah, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Josslyn: Hey, stop talking!

Rory: You’re Spencer Cassadine. You just did 30 days at Spring Ridge.

Spencer: Yeah, how about you take those cuffs off, and then he and I are going to go work this out outside.

Rory: It’s not that simple.

Spencer: You said that you know who I am!

Rory: I saw what happened —

Spencer: How about you cut me a break?! I am sorry. I did not mean that. That was — that was an accident!

Rory: I’m arresting you, too.

[ Handcuffs click ]

Nikolas: Ava is devoted to Trina. She’s convinced she’s innocent.

Esme: If you ask Ava, I’m guilty of every crime after Cain killed Abel. And I have accepted that nothing I do will change how she feels about me. But what do you think?

Nikolas: Ava and Sonny are in no position to judge you or anyone else for that matter. Neither am I.

Esme: So you’re on my side. But you shouldn’t be. Ava will forgive you if you put me on a launch and send me back to Kelly’s.

Nikolas: But I won’t forgive myself if I put you back in Sonny’s sights.

Esme: It means so much to me that you’re willing to give me a chance, but it comes at a price. Your vow renewal ceremony. You and Ava should be saying those beautiful words to each other, and this house should be filled with life and love. But right now, it’s more like four islands in a very large ocean. And it can’t go on this way. If you and Ava can’t or won’t do something about it… …I will.

Laura: Ava, don’t let your pride get in the way.

Ava: Scott said I was playing right into Esme’s hands, and Spencer’s.

Laura: Hmm. He said that? That’s very wise of him.

Ava: [ Laughs ] Yeah, it is, actually. But my biggest problem isn’t with Esme or Spencer. It’s with Nikolas.

Laura: Well, he is a very proud man.

Ava: It wasn’t pride that brought Esme into our home. It was selfishness, arrogance.

Laura: That kind of blind selfishness is a Cassadine trait. I have struggled with it for years with him. I’ve tried to protect him from his own DNA. But now with uncle Victor back and making all this mischief, it’s just gotten worse. I hope to God it doesn’t go on much longer.

Ava; Do fill me in. If we can get rid of Victor, maybe he can take Esme with him.

Sonny: You’re — you’re a contradiction yourself. You’re fighting tooth and nail to, you know, see Wiley. And then you’re kind enough to keep Baldwin from forcing me to go on the stand so that way I don’t have to choose between you and my family.

Nina: Thank you for the compliment, but I know what you’re doing. You’re trying to change the subject. Sonny, these two thugs, they were confident enough to — to hold us up at gunpoint. What makes you think they’re not gonna come after us again?

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Nina: [ Sighs ]

Sonny: Uh, got to go. I got to, uh… I’ll be back, okay? I’ll be back.

Nina: [ Sighs ]

Josslyn: Please let Diane know that she needs to give me a call when her meeting is done. It’s about Cameron Webber, and he really needs her help.

Trina: Officer Cabrera, please just let Cam off with a warning. Remember the guy who gave me the soft drink? Be that guy for my friend.

Spencer: What about me?

Trina: As much as I really despise Spencer Cassadine right now, he didn’t mean to hit you. It was an accident.

Rory: The commissioner was clear. If I look away after a crime has been committed, it’s a breach of procedure and a failure of my duty as a cop. I witnessed an assault. I have to act on that. And Mr. Cassadine hit me. And hitting a police officer is very illegal. Let’s move.

Nikolas: No more talk of leaving spoon island and returning to that room above Kelly’s. Not as long as you remain on Sonny’s radar.

Esme: Alright. Since you insist, I won’t run out on you. And Spencer, of course.

Laura: You let me worry about Victor. It’s much more important that you don’t give up on Nikolas.

Ava: Even if he doesn’t trust me to be a part of decisions that concern us both?

Laura: Ava, you’re strong enough to stand up to anything that threatens your marriage. So you go home. You tell him he needs to trust you. And then you insist that he show you that you can trust him.

Sonny: How you doing? Don’t worry, you’ll be joining your friend real soon. [ Laughs ]

Carly: Whoa, Harmony, are you okay?

Harmony: I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I’m just — I’m — I’m, um — only ever had, like, an occasional glass of wine, so that whiskey went straight to my head.

Sam: I’m gonna make coffee.

Alexis: Yeah, I’m gonna — I’m gonna get the milk and sugar.

Carly: And some water, too, maybe?

Sam: -Yeah.

Alexis: -Yeah. Thank you.

Sam: For what?

Alexis: For not saying, “I told you so.”

Sam: Well, doesn’t matter what I think about Harmony. She’s your friend. And you stand by your friends.

Carly: Um, so, d-do you want to go outside and get some air?

Harmony: Why? So you can tell me in private what a miserable drunk I am?

Carly: No, because I think it might make you feel better. Hey, Wiley’s family has to stick together, right?

Harmony: Why are you being so nice to me?

Carly: Because Willow’s my family.

Harmony: Wish she was mine.

Sonny: Hey. Sorry I took so long.

Nina: You okay?

Sonny: Yeah, there was just a few loose ends that needed to be tied up.

Nina: Alright, as long as you’re alright. I should be going home. Scott and I have a strategy meeting in the morning.

Sonny: Okay. Um, I’ll — I’ll walk you out.

Nina: Okay. Listen, I don’t want to sound like a-a broken record, okay, Sonny, but how do you know that these two guys aren’t going to be hitting charlie’s again?

Sonny: Trust me, they got the message.

Michael: And I talked Willow into fighting back in a way that, uh, well, let’s just say, might have some serious repercussions.

TJ: Grandpa. Hey.

[ Bag thuds ]

TJ: I just saw Aunt Stella.

Jordan: And it’s brought nothing but trouble. Which is why I have to play everything by the book.

Harmony: No matter what I’ve done, Willow, I’ve done it for you.

Willow: Oh, wait. What do you — what do you mean you did it for me? What have you done?

Harmony: Oh, just, um, for starters, I — I declined Nina’s lawyer’s request to speak on her behalf at the hearing.

Willow: Nina’s behalf?

Harmony: Yeah, and I hope it doesn’t backfire and make her even angrier.

Willow: [ Scoffs ] Mom. There is no depth that woman won’t sink to. First, she asks you to try and convince me, your own daughter, to let her see Wiley, and now she wants you to go against me in court? I mean, how does anyone so underhanded live with herself?

Harmony: I wish I knew.

[ Water splashing softly, bell clangs in distance ]

Alexis: Oh, my god.

Anna: How was your convalescence?

Valentin: Uh, it was too long. Anna, the wine is an apology.

Anna: Yeah.

Valentin: I’m sorry that I stayed away, that I was out of touch.

Anna: I was worried when I couldn’t reach you. [ Breathes deeply ] But I understand your health takes the priority. How’s charlotte?

Valentin: Uh, she’s away at her new boarding school. Seems happy enough.

Anna: I didn’t realize that she was away.

Valentin: Mm. It was a quick decision, but ultimately a good one.

Anna: Oh. Must be very lonely for you when you return home and she’s not there.

Valentin: I’ll survive. I hear you’ve been doing some traveling.

Anna: Not for pleasure.

Valentin: Congratulations. It was a long and winding road, but you stopped Peter.

Anna: I did.

Marshall: Friendly wager?

TJ: Okay.

Marshall: Let’s see who can lift more.

TJ: Ha! That’s easy money, old man.

Marshall: [ Chuckles ] Those are famous last words coming from I-need-more-meat-on-my-bones.

TJ: Okay. Look. That’s according to Aunt Stella. Look, I could weigh a million pounds, and she would still say the same thing.

Marshall: Yeah, you’re probably right. Mm-hmm.

TJ: But I’m worried about her. I hope she finds a way to manage her anxiety.

Marshall: Your Aunt Stella is a tough cookie.

TJ: You know, being strong has nothing to do with addressing mental health challenges. To get help, she has to seek out that treatment.

Marshall: Mm.

TJ: Do you know what’s on her mind?

Marshall: Oh, come on. [ Chuckles ] Your — your Aunt Stella doesn’t confide in me.

TJ: I mean, it seemed that way. You two had your heads together right before she collapsed.

[ Feet shuffling ]

Drew: Whoa! [ Chuckling ] Hey. Ha! That’s what I’m talking about! He’s back.

Michael: Okay.

Drew: All right. Hey. Look, man, you’re — you’re not doing anything wrong, okay? I would fight for my kids the same way.

Michael: [ Sighs ] Yeah, I’m not sure you’d approve of my tactics, though.

Drew: Oh? You’d be surprised. [ Breathes deeply ] Let me guess — you’re employing questionable strategies to ensure necessary results.

Michael: Yeah.

Drew: Believe me, I’ve been there.

Curtis: It is probably best if we do this in private.

Jordan: I don’t think we need to do this at all.

Portia: So you don’t think that we need to address the elephant in the room, especially since it’s gonna impact my daughter?

Jordan: I was with Curtis. Now he’s with you. Neither of those facts have any bearing on Trina’s situation.

Portia: But it could have an impact on how vigorously you pursue other suspects, other theories. Jordan, given that Trina is my blood, are you telling me that you honestly can be impartial?

Curtis: Uh, you know what? Why don’t we step back? Portia, no one is questioning your right to fight for Trina, and no one is questioning your professionalism.

Jordan: Are you in the same room I am? I resent the implication that my feelings towards Curtis have any bearing on my actions as Police Commissioner, let alone something as important as this.

Portia: So you admit that you do still have feelings for Curtis?

Trina: I’m not going anywhere.

Josslyn: Agreed. Spencer’s the one who should leave.

Spencer: How you doing?

Trina: Does it matter?

Spencer: Of course it matters.

Jordan: Then get your psycho girlfriend to fess up already.

Spencer: Can we please not talk about Esme?

Josslyn: Aw. I thought she was your favorite subject.

Cameron: Okay, look, Spencer was just heading out, right?

Josslyn: What are you even doing here in the first place?

Spencer: It is a public space, last I checked. I mean, with Cameron. Just like us, he wants nothing to do with you.

Cameron: Spencer, uh, came to ask about being put back on the schedule.

Josslyn: [ Scoffs ] You’re not actually giving him his job back?

Spencer: I’m sorry, and how is this your business?

Josslyn: She’s my best friend, and you hurt her. That’s why it’s my business.

Spencer: I want to protect Trina, too!

Drew: You’re a good father, Michael. You’re gonna make the right decision for your family.

Michael: Thanks. So, uh, how’s Scout?

Drew: Fantastic. Oh? She — she asked me to coach her swim team.

Michael: Whoa. [ Chuckles ]

Drew: Right?

Michael: Okay, okay. That — that — hey, that’s awesome, man. I’m happy for you.

Michaeel: So, uh, well, now that things are settled on the Scout front, what’s next?

[ Metal clinks lightly ]

Drew: Can you narrow that down a little bit for me?

Michael: I mean, in terms of your career — you know, what’s — what’s Drew Cain’s future look like?

[ Police radio chatter ]

Rory: Are you cold, Ms. Davis? I have a blanket in my squad car.

Alexis: No, I’m just, uh, shocked.

Rory: Do you know the victim?

Alexis: He was face down. I didn’t see him. I hope not. Happening upon a dead body was not in my plans today.

Rory: Uh, what did you have planned? Can you tell me why you were at the pier and — and what you were doing when you found the body?

Alexis: Y-yes. I was on my way to Spoon Island, and, uh, my nephew lives there. I was gonna visit him.

Willow: Mom…really, are you all right?

Harmony: Yeah. Yes. Uh, yeah, it’s just been, um, it’s been a helluva day. Uh. But I’m so much better now that I’m sitting here with you. Can we please change the subject? [ Chuckles ] How’s nursing school going?

Willow: [ Breathes deeply ] I am studying hard for my final exam.

Harmony: Wow.

Willow: Mm.

Harmony: You’re graduating nursing school. I just [Laughs] — I am unbelievably proud of you.

Willow: Well, back at you.

Harmony: What? You’re proud of me?

Curtis: Portia’s under a lot of pressure. [ Sighs ]

Jordan: I know. And I’d be doing the same thing if I were in her shoes. She’s worried about her kid — I get that.

Curtis: Thanks for understanding and for not losing your cool. You know, it’s, uh, I’m sure it’s frustrating, you know, for Portia, not knowing the whole truth.

Jordan: That I am as committed to finding the real perpetrator as you are? I’m doing everything I can to look deeper.

Curtis: I know you are, and, uh, I appreciate it, along with the fact that you called me when they brought Trina in for questioning.

Jordan: [ Sighs ]

Curtis: Oh, um, Jordan. About, uh, what Portia said about your feelings…

Spencer: I’m still your friend, Trina.

Josslyn: Oh, my god.

Spencer: What?

Josslyn: Yeah, Spencer, you’re a really good friend. You know, you’re protecting a criminal who violated us and framed her for it.

Spencer: You know what, Joss? Someday, you’re gonna be embarrassed that you assumed the worst of me.

Spencer: I hope that we can talk soon.

Anna: It was always my intention to hold Peter accountable so that his victims could have their day in court, have some kind of closure. But in the end…he’d just given in to his worst impulses, and he was almost a mirror image of Faison. I just — I couldn’t allow that to continue.

Valentin: I don’t blame you. He couldn’t be redeemed, Anna. There was nothing left to do. Just put him in the ground and keep the world safe from him. And Felicia did that.

But it was my call not to summon help. I chose not to. I let Peter die.

Spencer: Now that we’re seated [ Sighs ] Why are we here?

Spencer: Pretty sure they’d say “former friends” now.

Spencer: That wasn’t a threat. Joss misunderstood.

Britt: Well, maybe you should make her understand.

Spencer: What I was trying to say was she’d be sorry if she accused me of not caring about what happened to them.

Britt: Are you talking about the sex tape? Hey, I don’t — I don’t understand. Why would they think you wouldn’t care?

Spencer: Because I’m still with Esme. Or not not with her, at least. And they think that she’s responsible for the sex tape.

Michael: Now, have you given any thought into getting your shares back from Valentin?

Drew: [ Breathes sharply ]

Valentin: Tell me you’re not feeling guilty.

Anna: I did. Yeah, I mean, I denied medical attention to my own nephew. I waited, and I watched him take his last breath.

Valentin: Could he have even been saved?

Anna: We’ll never know, will we? And I carried that burden. But I don’t know. I mean, now I feel… at peace [Sighs] A little bit.

Valentin: Good.

Anna: I-I realized that we can talk all we want about the responsibility that we may bear in terms to who Peter became. But the fact is, he was an adult, and — and he forged his own path, and at every opportunity, he chose the wrong one.

Valentin: You’re a hero.

Anna: No. God, no. No, no. No. I would not say that.

Valentin: I’m saying it.

Anna: Would you have done the same thing?

Valentin: Yes, I absolutely would have done the same thing. And that last breath that Peter took — I would have enjoyed watching him take it.

Willow: Well, I think I’ll try and grab a quick hug from Michael before heading to the hospital.

Harmony: Ah, young love.

Willow: Oh, not so young anymore.

Willow: [ Chuckles ]

Harmony: Yeah, yeah. Yes, I just — you know, I got to get used to being alone, on my own.

Willow: Uh, what does that mean?

Harmony: Just that I will be moving out of Alexis’s eventually.

Willow: Well [Scoffs] You may be living alone, but you have us, mom. Which reminds me, I’ve been meaning to ask you if you have some free time soon to take Wiley to the aquarium.

Harmony: Really?

Willow: Yes. He’s on this huge aquatic animal kick. I know he’d love it. [ Chuckles ]

Harmony: Not more than I would, so sign me up.

Willow: Okay, great. I really want Wiley to spend more time with his grandmothers, the ones who care and deserve to be in his life — that’s you, by the way. [ Chuckles ]

Harmony: I can’t wait.

Marshall: So, has my grandson picked a specialty yet?

TJ: Well, I’m still weighing my options. But I gotta say — assisting in surgeries has been really exciting.

TJ: Yeah, um, I think it’s the constant mastery that’s required. Like, when I first picked up an arthroscope, it felt so foreign, and now it’s like an extension of my arm.

Jordan: You know him?

Alexis: I do.

Anna: I did what I did. I don’t think I regret it [Sighs] But I’m not a hero.

Valentin: Maybe none of us are. Well. In the end, you weighed your misgivings over letting Peter die… …against your desire to end the torment of others. And you sacrificed your own peace of mind to do it. I think that’s pretty heroic. You’re not convinced?

Anna: Would you be if it were you?

Valentin: Yes. I don’t have a problem making impossible decisions.

Anna: If Jennifer was framed, our next move is to find this man that she brought to her room. I think once we find Francois Olivier, then we should get the truth.

Valentin: I would never judge you for that. And I hope you would never judge me.

Spencer: Now [Sighs] The evidence points to Trina.

Britt: That doesn’t answer my question. Do you believe Trina filmed and released that video?

Spencer: She swears she didn’t. But so does Esme. So it doesn’t really matter who I believe, because either way, someone ends up hurt.

Britt: Yeah, that’s a really crappy position to be in.

Spencer: Have you ever been there? Where doing the right thing could make people hate you?

Britt: More than once. This is going to shock you, but interpersonal relationships are not my strong suit. Once you’re known for less-than-honorable intentions, it’s hard for people to recognize your good ones.

Spencer: Hard, but not impossible, right? There is still hope for me and my friends?

Cameron: I don’t want to come off like I’m team Spencer —

Josslyn: Oh, I hate this already.

Cameron: But he’s got to be in a weird position.

Josslyn: In what universe?

Cameron: Well, it must be a total mind trip to be told that your longtime girlfriend is actually a nightmare.

Josslyn: Okay, well, I have zero patience for any of this angst that Spencer might be feeling, okay? There’s a right and a wrong here, and it is so glaringly obvious. But Spencer is just so far under Esme’s spell, he refuses to see it.

Trina: I need a minute.

Josslyn: Hey. Do you want me to come with you?

Trina: No, I’m — I’m good.

Josslyn: Sticking up for Spencer? I mean, really?

Cameron: I’m not sticking up for him.

Josslyn: Well, it sure sounded like it.

Curtis: Is that what you want?

Portia: No. But I wouldn’t have blamed you if you did.

Curtis: I had to see that you were okay.

Portia: [ Sighs ] I am now. Curtis, I’m so sorry.

Curtis: About what?

Portia: [ Sighs ] I don’t know. Let me start from the top, um — uh, causing a scene, going off on Jordan when she didn’t deserve it, and somehow I was able to make Trina’s arrest about the three of us…

Curtis: Portia, there’s no apologies necessary, okay? You were terrified for your daughter. Nobody expects you to hold that in. Maybe not, but I could have done a whole lot better job of that. I mean, good God. [ Voice breaking ] I accused Jordan of punishing Trina because I happen to be with you now. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. [ Chuckling ] I’m overthinking everything.

Curtis: I mean, there’s nothing wrong with you, okay? [ Sighs ] You, uh — you were frustrated. I get it.

Portia: And do you think that Jordan will get it, too?

Jordan: How did you know Mr. Byrne?

Alexis: He’s ne– was the brother of my ex, Neil Byrne.

Jordan: Local?

Alexis: Uh, he’s not from Port Charles.

Jordan: When was the last time you saw him?

Alexis: Neil’s funeral. I-it was a while — a while back, a-and then just the other day.

Jordan: So you spent time with Mr. Byrne since he came to Port Charles?

Alexis: No, I wouldn’t consider it “spending time.” He stopped by my office. He needed help.

Jordan: What kind of help?

Alexis: Financial. He — he wasn’t specific. I think maybe he was looking for a job.

Jordan: Why you? And why so long after his brother had died?

Alexis: That’s what I would like to know, especially after the way he treated me at the funeral.

Jordan: How was that? I take it you and the deceased were not on the best of terms.

Drew: Oh, you’re right, you’re right. I gotta stop dragging my feet, and I have to make a decision about those shares.

Marshall: Drew. How’s it going?

Drew: Marshall. How are you?

Marshall: All right. I’m, uh… good. …I’m ready to pursue that job you offered.

Drew: Oh, uh, I-I’m — I’m sorry. The — the board already green-lit another candidate.

Marshall: [ Chuckling ] We just spoke about it a few days ago. You said you were still interviewing.

Drew: Yeah, we were until the right fit came along. I’m — I’m really sorry, but if another opportunity arises, I’ll be sure to let you know.

Marshall: [ Scoffs ] Will you?

Drew: I beg your pardon?

Marshall: It’s hard not to wonder if you ever had any intention of giving me a job.

Michael: Uh, look, I’m gonna go hit the showers, give you guys some time to talk.

Drew: No, that’s — that’s really not necessary. Mr. Ashford, with all due respect, you didn’t follow up.

Marshall: Yeah, yeah. So you had to move on.

Drew: That’s right.

Marshall: More like you and my son — my son — you got all you needed from that fake interview.

TJ: Wait. What does uncle Curtis have to do with this?

Marshall: You want me to tell him or should I? [ Breathes deeply ] Curtis and this man, they came up with a fake job opportunity in order to get me to agree to a background check.

TJ: No.

Marshall: Yes.

TJ: What?

Marshall: I’m just curious — who pitched the idea first? Was it you, Mr. Cain? Must be nice having all that time and money on your hands.

Michael: No, no, that’s unnecessary.

Drew: N– no. Let Mr. Ashford say his piece.

Marshall: Not all of us are born with silver spoons in our mouths, Mr. Cain. Some of us have to work to survive. But then again, you — you wouldn’t understand that, would you? Would you?

TJ: Grandpa.

Michael: Well, he’s [Scoffs] — He’s got you all wrong.

Drew: Ah. Actually, I think he summed up my situation perfectly.

Curtis: Jordan understands the pressure you’re under. She doesn’t hold it against you.

Portia: I still need to apologize. And I will. I will. But I don’t think that I was entirely wrong, Curtis.

Curtis: About?

Portia: I know that you left your marriage behind. But can you honestly say that Jordan has, too?

Curtis: I don’t know, but, um, I do know that, uh, Jordan won’t let her feelings impact the case. With Jordan, work comes first. Work always comes first. Our divorce is a testament to that.

Portia: I saw the look you two gave each other when I said she wasn’t impartial.

Curtis: Jordan believes that there’s, uh, more to Trina’s case than meets the eye.

Portia: Well, Trina feels the same way, too. I’m glad that somebody’s finally confirming it. Good. Uh, okay. So what’s Jordan doing to dig deeper?

Curtis: She’s doing what she can, but you know how it goes.

Portia: She can’t give you any details. Yeah, of course. [ Stammers ] You know what? I don’t even care. It’s at least comforting to know that Jordan doesn’t believe that this case should be closed.

Curtis: Baby… not by a long shot.

Cameron: Look, I’m on the side of truth, okay?

Josslyn: What does that even mean?

Trina: Please tell me we’re not still talking about Spencer.

Cameron: Well, I’m ready to move on.

Josslyn: Well, I’m not. Please promise me you’re not gonna put him back on the work schedule here.

Trina: Don’t block him because of me.

Josslyn: He deserves to be blocked, Trina.

Cameron: Okay. And what if he needs the money?

Josslyn: He doesn’t.

Trina: Okay, let’s just back this up.

Josslyn: He has no right to work here, Cam.

Cameron: Well, Joss, it’s my call. And if he wants his job back, I’m not gonna get in his way.

Josslyn: And if that stands in our way?

Cameron: Well, then maybe you guys have to find another place to hang out.

Anna: You understand that there’s no judgment between us, right? There never is. And oddly…I trust you.

Valentin: And I trust you.

Anna: Your father, not so much. Have you seen Victor lately?

Valentin: No. Why?

Anna: Doesn’t matter. It’s nice that you’re back.

Valentin: Mm.

Anna: I missed my compatriot while you were away.

Valentin: Is that what I’ve been reduced to? I’m a compatriot?

Anna: Do you want to be something more? Shall I open this bottle of wine?

Valentin: Mm-hmm. I would like nothing more, but I have to take a rain check.

Anna: Big plans, huh?

Valentin: Something like that, yeah.

Anna: Well, I can’t promise that this will be here when next you come.

Valentin: I wish I had been there with you when Peter died. And I-I-I understand completely that you are capable of taking care of it on your own.

Anna: I think that it had to be me — doing it without you.

Valentin: I get that. And we have been together all along. I just wish we could have seen it through together.

Anna: [ Sighs ] I wish that, too. I think being alone was what I needed — it certainly wasn’t what I wanted.

Valentin: You had Dante and Drew and F-Felicia.

Anna: Yeah. They were incredible. But in that moment when I looked down and I saw that Peter was gone, all I wanted was to look up and see you.

Harmony: [ Clears throat ] Hey, sorry. Can you remind me where the restroom is?

Waiter: [ Clicks tongue ] Yeah. It’s the second door on the right. Of course, duh. [ Chuckles ] It’s like I’ve never been here before. Thanks.

Alexis: If it’s all right with you, I’d — I’d like to go.

Jordan: Just one more question. You mentioned that Mr. Byrne had fallen on hard times.

Alexis: Yes.

Jordan: Did he strike you as desperate enough to end his life?

Alexis: Uh… do you think it’s suicide?

Jordan: I don’t know. I’ll need to wait for the medical examiner’s report, but I’m not ruling anything out.

Alexis: All right. Thank you.

Jordan: I thought you were heading to Spoon Island.

Alexis: I’m not really in the mood to visit anyone right now.

Jordan: Because you knew Mr. Byrne? Or because the circumstances surrounding his death are suspect?

Alexis: Jordan, if you have any more questions, you need to talk to my attorney. You know her — Diane Miller.

Jordan: I thought you might say that.

Britt: The only thing you have control over is you. Trust your gut — no matter the fallout.

Spencer: Thank you.

Britt: That’s pretty generic advice, but if it helped, I’m happy.

Spencer: You always help.

Britt: Moi? [ Laughs ]

Spencer: I mean it. Since I was a little kid, you’ve always been there for me, despite my [Breathes deeply]

Curtis: I’m more concerned about you.

Curtis: What happened?

Drew: He knows that the job at Aurora was a setup. I tried to convince him otherwise, but he was too quick.

Curtis: How’d he take it?

Drew: Not well. I’m sorry.

Marshall: Don’t be. [ Breathes deeply ] My father’s whole life is built on lies. I suppose at some point he should realize that one day they would catch up to him.

Alexis: Hi. I’ll have a cranberry and soda, please.

Harmony: No. No cranberry and soda. [ Chuckles ] She’ll have what I’m having.

Jordan: Rory, come here. What do you see?

Rory: Uh, red markings near the victim’s trachea.

Jordan: There’s blood pooling under the skin. Was this injury sustained pre- or post-mortem?

Rory: No time to bruise, so it probably occurred in the hours before he was in the water.

Jordan: Very good. And what can you tell me about the shape of the marks?

Rory: Consistent with fingers?

Jordan: Mm.

Rory: So he was grabbed, but when?

Jordan: That’s the million-dollar question. And the answer may tell us if it was suicide, an accident, or straight up murder.
