At home, Steffy is not happy that Hope kissed Finn; she blames Finn for hanging around Hope instead of listening to her when she told him to stay away from her. He apologizes profusely and assures her that he loves her.

At Forrester, Ridge and Taylor catch up on what’s been going on. She gives him a little bit of a hard time for deciding to make Brooke an executive without getting Steffy’s input.

Also at Forrester, Brooke can’t believe that Hope kissed Steffy. Hope can’t really understand it, either. They’re both worried about what Steffy will do and what effect it will have on their families and the company.

Steffy is angry at Finn for continuing to hang around Hope after she told him not to (resulting in her kissing him), so she tells him that she has to take off for awhile. He begs her not to leave, but she does, anyway, after telling him to watch Hayes and giving him a goodbye hug.

Brooke and Hope argue about the kiss. Steffy arrives and chews out Hope for the kiss and tells her to stay away from Finn. Hope apologizes, but Steffy doesn’t believe her.

Brooke fills Ridge in on the kiss. Just as she says it, Taylor walks in and is outraged that Hope kissed Finn.

Audra is sitting with Nate when Kyle insists on speaking with her elsewhere about business. They’re both kind of annoyed with each other. They do leave Nate alone for a while and argue for a bit about the company, working together, and working with Victor. Summer arrives and wants to speak with Kyle. Audra is hostile to her. Summer and Kyle talk about why Summer doesn’t like or trust Audra. Audra goes back to chatting with Nate, who guesses that Victor is their secret investor.

Michael brings Victor back some news about Jill. He couldn’t find any dirt on Billy, but he did find out that Jill is getting treatments for a heart problem. Victor wants him to find out more, so they can use it against Billy and Jill. Michael looks sick at the idea. Victor tells him that he wants to take Chancellor away from them and have Nikki run it. Michael approves of that idea, since Nikki and Katherine were such good friends. Michael agrees to look for more information about it, so that Victor will hire him back.

Billy keeps questioning Chelsea about what happened with Adam that is making her feel so bad; Sally does the same with Adam. They both deny that anything happened except for having a bad fight. Chelsea uses Connor as an excuse for why she hasn’t spent much time with Billy. Sally is very frustrated and storms out in tears. She runs into Billy in the park. They both fear the worst about Adam and Chelsea. Chelsea tells Adam that the only thing they can do now is to tell Billy and Sally the truth.

At home, Bill is shocked that Luna kissed him. He tells her that can’t ever happen again. He figures that she’s just very upset about her mother being arrested. She apologizes and then goes back to fretting about her mother. He offers to pay for therapy for her. She turns him down. He assures her that he’ll be there for her, and they hug.

In her office, Hope worries about how Finn is going to tell Steffy about the kiss. Brooke comes in and tells her about Poppy being arrested for the murders. Eventually, Hope tells her mom about the kiss. Brooke is shocked.

In jail, Poppy begs Li to find the real murderer(s) setting her up and to take care of Luna. Li agrees.

Finn goes home to tell Steffy about Hope’s kiss. Taylor is there, and they’re both glad to have her home. She leaves to go set up her medical practice again. Finn tells Steffy about the kiss. She’s shocked and angry.

Meanwhile, Victor tasked Adam with launching a smear campaign against Billy to undermine his position at Abbott-Chancellor. Adam hesitated, concerned about the potential impact on Chelsea and Connor, but Victor remained adamant about the plan.

I really enjoyed this interview with Trent. I just loved his character on “As The World Turns,” where he played Henry Coleman. You may have also seen him in “The Marvelous Miss Maisel,” “General Hospital,” or in one of his guest-starring roles. He’s an amazing actor, and now he’s also a producer, director and so much more with his Katonah Classic Stage (NY regional theater). Besides producing two plays a year, his group also puts on a film festival in the summer; this year’s is tomorrow, August 10 in Katonah (in Westchester, near New York).  This season’s play, “A Case for the Existence of God” premieres in October.

If you can make it to his film festival or his plays, you can buy tickets here. Otherwise, if you can support the upcoming theater season by donating to his theater, please do so. I hope you enjoy our chat!

Ridge: So, zende got delayed. He’ll be here shortly, he says.

Brooke: Okay. If you change your mind and you want somebody else to do this, just let me…

Ridge: What are you doing? We talked about this.

Brooke: Well, it’s just…

Ridge: It’s just what? You’re gonna blow them away the same way you blew ’em away when you first did this campaign.

Brooke: You do wonders for my ego, mr. Forrester.

Ridge: I have every confidence in you.

Brooke: Mwah.

Hope: Oh, my gosh. Is that the…

Ridge: The original bed from the original campaign? No, it’s not, but it’s very close.

Steffy: Yeah, we retired the original one. Too many miles on it.

Poppy: Are you sure you have to go?

Bill: Mm. [Chuckles] When you kiss me like that, I’m not sure of anything.

Poppy: You know, we could just crawl back into bed and…

Bill: Yeah?

Poppy: …Pick up where we left off last night.

Bill: That’s very tempting.

Poppy: I just want to be close to you, bill. Especially after…

Bill: After what?

Poppy: After katie coming over here and drilling me, asking question after question, saying how determined she is to get answers. I know you two were married and you share a child, but… it was really unnerving.

Bill: You have to trust me. In my case, probably well deserved. But I have been on the receiving end of katie’s third degrees. I understand that you’re feeling a bit unnerved. Listen to me. You have nothing to worry about with my ex-wife. Katie’s harmless.

Katie: Wow. No wonder bill was at that festival. It’s one breakout act after another. And some new bands, too.

[Gasps] Oh, my gosh. He was there. Tom starr was playing at the festival.

Hope: Well, I’m so excited for you, mom. It has been too long.

Ridge: I agree. And so do all her fans all around the world. They’ve been clamoring for something like this for a long time.

Steffy: Brooke and her infamous red teddy sprawled out on that infamous brass bed.

Brooke: Hmm. My sprawling days are over, steffy. But I do still have that red teddy. You could even ask your father.

[Phone chimes]

Ridge: Trust me, she has it. Okay, zende’s gonna be here very soon. You’re gonna rock this photo shoot.

Brooke: Thanks, honey.

Ridge: Uh-huh.

Brooke: Your father has a lot of faith in me.

Hope: Well, we all do. You’re going to be fabulous, mom. Won’t she, steffy?

[Bill whistles]

Bill: Jam-packed today. Think you can squeeze me in?

Deacon: Oh, they just keep on coming, don’t they? What do you want, spencer?

Bill: Health department hasn’t shut you down yet? I mean, rats are one thing. You got a couple of dead bodies in here and you’re still open?

Deacon: For your information, the authorities and the health department have checked us out and il giardino is clean.

Bill: Well, clearly, word hasn’t gotten out yet.

Deacon: Well, when it does, we’ll be back up and running, but it’s not gonna be the same.

Bill: I imagine not. You got two employees that croaked in here.

Deacon: They were more than that. They were my friends.

Bill: Well, I hate to say it, but being your friend seems to be hazardous to one’s health. I mean, you got two mysterious deaths in here from drug overdoses just a few days apart. Cops come up with anything yet?

Deacon: All I get from them is “the investigation is ongoing.”

Bill: So nothing.

Deacon: I just keep going over in my head. What if it wasn’t really an overdose?

Bill: The toxicology reports came back, right?

Deacon: Yeah. No, it did. It confirmed that they both od’D. But what it didn’t say is how it happened or why it happened. It doesn’t even say if tom and hollis realized it. What if they were targeted? You know, what if somebody actually specifically wanted to kill tom and hollis, but they made it look like an overdose, when in reality, it was a murder? I mean, if that’s how it went down, bill, that means somebody else is still out there, and they may be ready to strike again.

[Birds chirping]

Katie: Hello, poppy.

[Poppy gasps]

Poppy: Katie. What are you doing here?

Katie: Oh. You’re not happy to see me?

Poppy: After last time? The things you said?

Katie: Well, I had questions, and you weren’t very forthcoming, so I didn’t have any choice.

Poppy: Well, what is that supposed to mean?

Katie: I said I was gonna learn everything about you, and it turns out I have learned something absolutely fascinating. You see, I did a little research on that music festival where you and bill met, that fateful night that brought the two of you, um, together. And as it happens, there was someone else at that festival. Someone on the stage. Tom starr. This powerful im

Hope: Well, it’s no secret

Hope: Well, it’s no secret that you’re not exactly thrilled about my mom being front and center again.

Steffy: I just don’t think we should be going down this road again.

Ridge: Okay, let’s take it easy, you guys, please.

Hope: No, ridge, it’s fine. I’m just curious as to why steffy feels this way.

Steffy: Brooke has been in the spotlight for years as the face of brooke’s bedroom line.

Hope: Very successful years.

Steffy: Absolutely. That’s true. But I–

Brooke: Okay, but… I am older now. Maybe I shouldn’t try to recreate this magic.

Ridge: Don’t do this. You look as amazing as ever.

Hope: I agree.

Ridge: Which is exactly why you’re gonna make this powerful impact on women of all ages all over the world.

Hope: And that’s why it is so important, not just for brooke’s bedroom, but to also show that true beauty doesn’t fade with age.

Ridge: Right. And anyone can see that.

Brooke: Oh, thank you for the vote of confidence.

Finn: Hey. Pam said you’d be backstage.

Steffy: Oh, finn, you have no idea how glad I am to see you.

Bill: Well, you’ve got a lot on your plate, deacon. No pun intended.

Deacon: Tell me about it. The restaurant’s in the skids. I gotta do something, something to bring the customers back, let them know that it’s safe to be here. But the truth of it is, I just don’t have it in me right now. All I can think about is the senseless way that tom and hollis died.

[Phone dinging] I gotta take this. Excuse me.

Justin: Dollar bill. Just the man I was looking for.

Bill: Well, we gotta stop meeting like this or people are gonna talk.

Justin: Yeah. Yeah. So, did you get the tickets I sent over? Astros. Dodgers. In houston. All accommodations taken care of. Now the box just may happen to be next to howard, who just may be wanting to put his stations back online unless there is a media titan who, in my opinion, can structure m&a’s better than anyone else and can strike a deal while taking in the old ball game.

[Both chuckle]

Bill: Listen, justin, I– I’m just really glad that we were able to work through our issues.

Justin: Yeah.

Bill: All right? And we made the impossible possible. It’s good to have you back with us.

Justin: We did. Good to be back. Good to be back, man.

Deacon: Justin.

Justin: Hey.

Deacon: What are you doing here?

Bill: Oh, we’re just, uh, talking–talking some ball here. I was just talking to deacon about these mysterious deaths that have taken place right here in il giardino.

Deacon: You were here that night. I saw you.

Justin: Yeah. Um… so, how are you holding up?

Deacon: Well, I’m just trying to get to the bottom of this whole thing. By the way, did I mention to you that I, uh–I checked the security cameras from before. There was a power outage the night that hollis died.

Bill: You think that’s significant?

Deacon: Maybe. Maybe not. Could just be a coincidence.

Bill: Well, if you’re thinking foul play was involved, I would suggest you look no further than your wifey.

Deacon: Police took sheila in for questioning. They released her. My bride had nothing to do with it, but somebody could have. The question is who.

Katie: Tom starr performed that night at the music festival. Well, he also recently overdosed at il giardino, a restaurant that you and bill frequent often.

Poppy: Well, what are you getting at?

Katie: Well, I just think it’s awfully coincidental, don’t you? I mean, the same guy that performed before you and bill at a music festival in san francisco also performed at il giardino.

Poppy: I guess so. And, yeah, now that you mentioned it, I do recall that tom starr did perform at that festival. But, um, why are you bringing it up?

Katie: Well, that was the same night where you claim luna was conceived.

Poppy: I’m not claiming it, katie. It’s the truth.

Katie: And bill’s the father. That’s your story and you’re sticking to it? Force factor total beets is the number one

Steffy: Yeah, you. Oh, my gosh. My favo

Finn: For you.

Steffy: Thank you. Oh, my gosh. My favorite latte. You are the sweetest.

Finn: Well, I figured you could use a little pick-me-up. You said it might be a long day for you.

Steffy: Yeah, it’s been a long day. I needed this.

Finn: I got you.

Bill: Oh, deacon, my man, you must be an awfully trusting guy.

Deacon: She was my wife. Of course I trust her.

[Bill chuckles]

Justin: I’m not sure how smart that is, considering her track record.

Deacon: Well, she’s not the same woman anymore.

[Bill laughs]

Bill: Okay, if you say so.

Deacon: Listen. I know that you both hate sheila’s guts, but don’t come into my restaurant and badmouth my wife, okay? I don’t do that to you. I don’t show contempt for the new woman in your life.

Bill: Are you referring to poppy?

Deacon: Let me ask you something. How would you feel if I started taking potshots at her, talking about her past and trashing it?

[Bill laughs]

Bill: Wait a second. Is this clown trying to compare poppy to sheila carter? Are you? ‘Cause if so, you must have spent just way too much time pounding out those license plates in prison and it somehow diminished your mental capacity.

Justin: Come on, deacon. Those two women are polar opposites in every way.

Deacon: Look, if poppy makes you happy, bill, that’s terrific. Just don’t come in here talking about the woman who makes me happy.

Justin: Okay. We’re gonna change the subject.

Bill: No, no, no, no, no, no. Not so fast. I wanna make something crystal clear for the convict, all right? You’re right. Poppy does make me happy. And she has given me a beautiful daughter that I am thrilled with. And having both of those women in my life makes me a very lucky man.

Deacon: Just like I’m a lucky man to have sheila in mine.

Bill: Well, there’s one big difference, though. You hooked up with a known murderer. I didn’T.

Poppy: I don’t appreciate what you’re implying, katie.

Katie: I’m just asking some questions, just looking for some answers. I’m trying so hard to understand why you waited 20 years to do a paternity test. It doesn’t make any sense.

Poppy: Okay, well, not that it’s any of your business, but bill never reached out after that night and I was hurt.

Katie: But you did know his history. Spencer publications. The fact that he was rich and powerful.

Poppy: No, I did not. Because despite what my sister li loves to tell everyone, I am not now nor have I ever been a gold digger. So, yeah, it took me a long time to build up the nerve to do a paternity test.

Katie: And to let the world know that luna is bill’s daughter.

Poppy: It’s true, katie.

Katie: A daughter who was conceived on the same night that tom starr was performing. Tom starr, who worked at il giardino and mysteriously died of a drug overdose.

Poppy: What are you getting at?

Katie: I just want to know if you and tom starr had a relationship. Was he your lover?

Ridge: Look at me.

[Brooke sighs] You’re gonna prove to women all over the world that beauty is timeless. You’re not getting older. You’re just getting better. Look at you. You look as great as you did 20 years ago. No, you don’T. You don’T. You look better than you did 20 years ago.

Brooke: Ridge.

Ridge: That gorgeous smile and that twinkle in your eye and the way you–you have that zest for adventure. You love life. And you’re mine. You’re my logan. I love you.

[Steffy sighs]

Finn: What’S…

Steffy: In case you haven’t guessed, I’m not too excited that this shoot is featuring brooke.

Finn: Yeah, I kind of picked up on that.

Steffy: You know who’s excited about it? Hope. She’s loving every minute that her mother’s in the spotlight.

Hope: I find you attractive. And I would be lying if I said I didn’t think about you and what it would be like to be with you.

Ridge: I gave your mom a final pep talk, and I think I got through to her.

Brooke: He’s relentless.

Hope: Oh, well, that’s because he knows what I know, which is that you are going to be awesome. Seriously, mom, you’re going to rock this. And I am so, so proud of you.

[Brooke laughs]

Brooke: Oh! Thank you, sweetie.

Deacon: I think I got a pretty good idea about how you two feel about sheila, but she had nothing to do with what happened to tom and hollis. And if she did, she’d be behind bars right now. But if there is more to this…

Justin: And what do you mean, more?

Deacon: Murder, justin. Cold-blooded, premeditated murder.

Poppy: All right, well, I don’t know what you’re trying to insinuate, katie, but, you know, this is…

Katie: I’m just pointing out some coincidental facts. The same night, an epic night that happened all those years ago that you’ve never been able to forget. That night that luna was conceived, tom starr just happened to be performing. Tom starr, who mysteriously overdosed at il giardino, a restaurant that you and bill go to quite often. I mean, did you know that tom worked there? Did you ever see him?

Tom: Luna needs to know who her real dad is.

Poppy: She does know her real dad–bill spencer.

Tom: No, that’s a lie. You trapped that poor sucker. And worse, you’re lying to our daughter.

Poppy: For the last time, she is not your daughter. The paternity test proved it.

Tom: Bull, poppy. Listen, I’ve kept my distance, but it’s time for luna to know the truth.

Katie: You seem really uneasy with this questioning about tom. Why is that, poppy?

Poppy: This is just the most absurd line of questioning I have ever heard. What are you trying to do, link me to that poor man’s death?

Katie: Well, I wasn’t gonna say anything, but since you brought it up. His overdose. Did you have anything to do with it? Are you a liar? A gold digger? Are you a murderer?

Poppy: All right, just stop it, okay? Just stop it. Stop with these absurd accusations.

Katie: Or you’ll do what? Huh? You’ll do what?

Here’s a look at what’s ahead.

Man: Have you checked your pockets?

Steffy: Where’s my passport?

Brooke: Monaco, here we come.

Katie: It doesn’t make sense. I don’t trust her.

Bill: What are you talking about?

Poppy: Tom was claiming to be luna’s father.

Hope: Mom, I’m really happy for you. You’ve defined beauty in the past with brooke’s bedroom, and I’m excited to see you do it again.

Brooke: Well, thank you, honey. It’s still all sinking in.

Hope: Well, look, I do understand maybe some of the hesitancy. Just please don’t allow one of those reasons to be steffy.

Brooke: [Sighs] She’s not going to be very happy when she hears the news.

Ridge: Steffy, you more than anyone knows how short life could be. Holding on to past grudges… come on.

Steffy: Look, I know how much you love me, and I want to do what’s best for us, but I can’t just forget what the logans have done.

Ridge: [Sighs] And I’m not asking that, I… brooke is a sticking point. I get it. Please, remember that it was me. I left you. I left your mom. It was me. Be upset with me, but I love brooke. I have for a long time. She’s my person. And the logans and the forresters aren’t at odds anymore. We’re one big family. Maybe not happy, but we’re a family. Crazy family, your kids, hope’s kids, all of us. I know what this feud is you’re holding on to. Even your grandma let it go. Her and brooke, they were great friends in the end. What a waste of time. They could have been so close for so long. So let’s not do this. Let’s not repeat history. I’m hoping, I’m really hoping you’re gonna… come on board with all of it. I’m going ahead with brooke with bedroom line. And this whole social media blitz, it’S… it’s gonna drop when brooke and I are in monte carlo.

Steffy: What? Brooke’s coming to monte carlo?

Poppy: I just can’t shake off how upset I am.

Luna: Mom, don’t give katie this much power over you. Like, look, I understand that us coming into bill’s life is a big adjustment, but if katie can’t handle that, then that’s on her.

Poppy: Okay, yes. Okay, you’re right. You’re right. And there is so much to be grateful for. And I know how much you are loving your life right now. I am. Well, you know, I–I loved our life before, too, but this just feels… I don’t know, like, complete. I finally have a father. And… it’s not just any father. It’s bill spencer, and… he’s welcomed us with open arms.

Poppy: Of course he has. And, you know, bill is really lucky to have a daughter like you. I know that I am.

Luna: This is a really special moment for us right now.

Poppy: I love our life, and I’m not gonna let anyone ruin it.

Bill: Well, I love our life as well. And I agree. No one is going to ruin it.

Li: Katie, are you accusing me if I somehow mishandled bill and luna’s paternity test?

Katie: Oh, no, no, no. I–I don’t mean to suggest that. I’m just wondering if there’s any chance that the test could be incorrect.

Poppy: Um, bill, I was just being a little dramatic. I–I really didn’t–

Bill: No, I agree. You never have to hide your feelings from me. No secrets.

Li: So you’re not implying I made an error with the paternity test, but you’re still asking if it could be wrong?

Katie: Please, don’t take this personally. I–I don’t have your expertise, but I’M… I’m sure these tests have false results from time to time, and I’m just wondering if, uh… it might not be correct.

Li: My sister’s really alarmed you, huh?

Katie: Yes. Yes, she has. I keep on getting these weird vibes from her, like she’s hiding something. So… maybe the results aren’t right.

Li: No, katie, the paternity test is correct. Bill is luna’s father.

Hope: Look, if steffy is not thrilled about the relaunch of the bedroom line, then… you know, that’s on her. We–we should be celebrating. We shouldn’t be worrying about her reaction. And besides, I know ridge cannot wait to get started.

Brooke: Honestly, I think he just enjoys me trying on lingerie for him.

Hope: Mom, I–

Brooke: Okay, I’m kidding. Okay? This is gonna be very exciting, going to the global fashion summit and relaunching brooke’s bedroom officially.

Hope: Hmm. Well, maybe it doesn’t have to be just business. I mean, it could be a little bit of a romantic getaway for you and ridge. It might be just what you need.

Brooke: I totally agree.

Hope: Wait, but, uh… isn’t steffy going, too?

Brooke: [Sighs, laughs]

Steffy: You want brooke to come to monte carlo?

Ridge: Yeah, I think brooke coming is going to help relaunch the bedroom line.

Steffy: But, dad, I… I thought it was just going to be the two of us. Moving forward withnode-positive breast cancer.

Poppy: I’m sorry. I… I didn’t want to sound insecure or worried.

Bill: About what we have being ruined? I would never let that happen. This is important to me, too. I mean, it has literally changed my world. And having a daughter… especially one as remarkable as luna… has made me a different man. I never expected it. But now that I have it, I don’t want to let it go.

Katie: So these paternity tests are–are never faulty? There’s–there’s never any room for error?

Li: It depends who administers them. As you know, I ran the test myself, taking out any room for error.

Katie: Because you suspected poppy of the same thing I did, that she might alter the results in her favor. Because you know that she might do something as treacherous as lying and trapping bill into believing that he’s luna’s father.

Li: I owe bill my life after he saved me. But I also care about my niece enough to not see her be hurt. So I took charge, making sure there was no room for doubt or uncertainty. And there wasn’t, katie. The paternity test was correct.

Hope: Things are going well. I mean, the logans and the forresters could finally be working together in harmony. But then it just seems like steffy wants to keep the feud alive and well, and if she goes to monte carlo, then–

Brooke: She is definitely planning on coming. I heard her talking about it.

Hope: Oh, and I can’t imagine that she would bow out gracefully to let you and ridge have a romantic getaway alone.

Steffy: I was really looking forward to our trip to monte carlo. I thought it was just gonna be the two of us.

Ridge: [Sighs] I’m still looking forward to it. It’s gonna be the two of us. We just added brooke because she’s–she’s back now.

Steffy: Yeah, but our company’s presence, it goes way beyond brooke’s bedroom line. Our company is not just a lingerie company.

Ridge: I know that. But we create beauty, and we… make women feel like they’re desired. And that’s where the bedroom line comes in because… at forrester, it doesn’t matter if you’re 20 or 40 or 80 or even 100 years old. Being beautiful, that never goes away. Monte carlo is the right location and brooke is the right spokesperson, and… I’m hoping you can support that. Type 2 diabetes?

Poppy: You’re not the only one who sees the world differently. You’ve changed my life, too. I’ve always been fiercely protective. I mean, especially when it comes to luna. From the day she was born, I just held her so incredibly close to me. So for me to share her or to not be the only parent, it’s a huge deal. You say that we changed your life. You’ve changed our lives in more ways than you can possibly imagine.

Luna: I’m just so grateful that you’re my father.

Li: Believe me, I understand how difficult this must be for you, katie, seeing your ex-husband with another woman.

Katie: He was bound to move on sooner or later. I mean, honestly, that’s what I wanted for him.

Li: But still, it’s to see him with a new family in the same home where you raised your son. Uh… it must be challenging.

Katie: It is. But it’s not so much the new family. I mean, we would have made that work. It’s more the… this territorial vibe I’m getting from your sister. I mean, just, something seems off.

Li: Something always feels off when it comes to penelope. That’s why I stormed over to bill’s and demanded I administer the paternity test. It just felt like she was up to something. But I was wrong, katie. She wasn’t lying. Bill is, without a shadow of a doubt, luna’s father.

Hope: You know, I hate that we can’t just enjoy your accomplishments, that we have to worry about steffy and her constant disapproval.

Brooke: It’s not all her fault, hope. There’s a history of conflict between our families, especially her mother and me.

Hope: Okay, well, don’t you think it’s about time she got over it? Her dad is a grown man. He made a choice. He wants to be with you, and he picked you to be the face of the relaunch of one of the most successful lines at forrester creations. This is your time. It is well deserved. So you and ridge, you are going to go to monte carlo. And, yes, steffy will be there, too.

Brooke: Glaring at me the whole time.

Hope: Okay, fine. Let her glare. If steffy wants to have a pity party, fine. We will let her. But you… promise me that you will enjoy this trip with ridge, and please do not let steffy come between you.

Steffy: You want me to support this?

Ridge: Yes. It’s an empowering message for women of all ages.

Steffy: I support the empowerment of women.

Ridge: Just not brooke.

Steffy: I know brooke, and she doesn’t really care about empowering women. This is about her. She wants all the attention. She’s good at it. She manipulated you with a lingerie line.

Ridge: Oh, is she? I’m played that easily?

Steffy: Yeah, I think so.

Ridge: She didn’t even want this. I had to convince her to do the bedroom line. You were there.

Steffy: Fine. Fine. Okay. If you want to revamp the line, and you want brooke as the spokesperson… okay, fine. Let’s do it. But please, let’s just not have her come to monte carlo.

Ridge: Steffy–

Steffy: No. When was the last time you and I had actual time together without kids, without our significant others? Like, I feel like life is pulling us in so many different directions, and I was really looking forward to this, dad.

Ridge: I’m still looking forward to it. We were doing it.

Steffy: Yeah, but brooke is tagging along with us now.

Ridge: Because it’s better for business.

Steffy: I personally think it’s gonna be a huge flop.

Ridge: I don’t agree.

Steffy: Well, that sucks, because as co-ceo’s, we need to support each other in these big decisions.

Ridge: And we also need to have each other’s backs and maybe give each other the benefit of the doubt. Look, we’re gonna have a photo shoot here, and it’s gonna be all beautiful models. We’ll do all that. But in monte carlo, it’s gonna be brooke. ‘Cause she’s just better at selling this stuff than anybody else. And I promise you, we’ll–we’ll have time. The two of us will find time just for us, okay? Promise you. Come here. I love you.

Steffy: And I love you. And I love you.

Ok y’all we got ten orders

coming in.. big orders!

Bill: So now that we’re alone, there’s something I want to talk to you about. My spencey senses are tingling.

Poppy: Your spencey senses?

Bill: Mm-hmm. I’m feeling like you’re stressed, uptight.

Poppy: I mean, yeah. I mean, I guess I have been a little on edge recently.

Bill: Why?

Poppy: [Sighs] I had a run in with katie earlier.

Bill: What did she say?

Poppy: She had questions about me. Questions that she’s going to get the answers to.

Bill: And what do you suppose that means?

Poppy: I have no idea. You know, I am sick and tired of this. And first my sister questions my character and integrity, and now your ex-wife. I–I’m sorry.

Bill: It’s all right. No, no, no. Don’t apologize. And don’t worry about katie. She thinks she’s protecting me. Katie’s harmless.

Katie: I know you’re hiding something, poppy, and I’m gonna find out what.

Ridge: [Grunts]

Brooke: Ah. Something’s gotten into you.

Ridge: Just keep thinking about you in that lingerie.

Brooke: Oh, is that so?

Ridge: Yeah. Oh, I know. I was gonna ask you. Can you put that on again? ‘Cause I think it needs an adjustment, just… professional stuff, obviously.

Brooke: Obviously. Tonight.

Ridge: Tonight, huh? You can have such an impact on so many women all over the world.

Brooke: I’m really flattered. I am. You have a way of making me feel beautiful and sexy.

Ridge: ‘Cause you are beautiful and sexy.

Brooke: I just can’t help but be a little bit concerned, self-conscious. And what’s really weighing on me is steffy.

Ridge: Steffy?

Brooke: I don’t want to come between you and your daughter.

Steffy: This isn’t a good time, hope.

Hope: Ooh. Could this mood maybe have something to do with your father and my mother? I heard the good news about the bedroom line. Really excited about the photo shoot. And the social media drop to coincide with the global fashion summit in monte carlo. I think putting my mom front and center is really going to be great for the company.

Steffy: Are you trying to get rise out of me?

Hope: Why would I want to do that? Like, my mother and I care about this company. You’re the only one who doesn’t seem excited about her return. She deserves this, steffy. And this opportunity means a lot to her.

Steffy: Yeah. My father used to be my co-ceo. That’s not the case anymore. Brooke’s in the middle. We were supposed to go to… monte carlo together and now brooke’s tagging along. My father and I, we used to have a really good bond, but… clearly things are changing.

Hope: I… I… understand.

Steffy: Please don’t try to patronize me.

Hope: I’m not, actually. I would be hurt if I expected to, you know, share an experience with my father only for that to be given to someone else. But I do think this issue is maybe bigger than us. And your problems are my problems. I think this comes down to our parents’ happiness. They’ve been through so much over the years. There’s so many ups and downs. And now I feel like they’re… they’re finally where they need to be. They finally found their footing and so I don’t think we should stand in the way of that. I think… we need to support them.

Steffy: Support… brooke? Never.

[Brooke sighs]

Hope: You’re back.

Brooke: Yeah. We got sidetracked earlier talking about sheila. I still can’t believe that the police released her. It’s kind of sickening, actually. Anyway, I want to talk to you about something else.

Hope: Okay.

Brooke: Ridge and me.

Ridge: Sheila may still be a suspect.

Steffy: But they let her go.

Ridge: Because they couldn’t hold her.

Steffy: Finn says it’s lack of motive. But two people die at il giardino a couple days apart. Like, there’s no coincidence here.

Ridge: No, probably not, but they couldn’t prove anything.

Steffy: Okay, so if it’s not sheila, then who could have done it?

Poppy: You have questions about me?

Katie: Quite a few.

Poppy: Well, unfortunately, katie, you and I don’t know each other very well.

Katie: Yeah, I’m not sure bill knows you very well either. I’m gonna get the answers that I’m looking for, poppy. I won’t stop until I do. ‘Cause I don’t think bill has any idea what he’s gotten himself into.

Li: Bill. This is a surprise.

Bill: Well, I’m nothing if not full of surprises. I kept thinking I would run into you somewhere, li. You’ve been laying low?

Li: No. Just busy.

Bill: Well, I wanted to come by and thank you for everything. Running the paternity test, making sure it was done correctly. I’m so damn happy to have luna as my daughter.

Li: I was glad to help.

Li: You’re exactly the kind of father my niece deserves, bill.

Bill: I love luna very much.

Li: So do I. You’ll be a good influence in her life.

[Bill chuckles]

Bill: Well, she’s already been very impactful on mine. I, uh–I feel–I don’t know– just somehow different, as a man, as a father.

[Chuckles] Liam says I’m becoming a “girl dad.”

[Li laughs] All I know is I want to keep my family close. That’s more important to me than ever. Spencers stick together. We have each other’s backs. Now, it may be a bit old-fashioned wanting to bring my people together. But now that luna and poppy are family, that means that you are as well.

Li: Bill, you don’t know what that means to me.

Katie: You can make this a whole lot easier. Just tell me what I want to know.

Poppy: Katie, my relationship with bill has nothing to do with you.

Katie: Well, he is my son’s father, and he’s a big part of my life. So if you suspected that bill could be luna’s father, I’ll ask again. Why did you wait over 20 years to let the truth come out?

Brooke: You know about monte carlo, the global fashion summit.

Hope: Yes. It’s going to be quite the event.

Brooke: Yes. Ridge is planning a big splash. He wants me to help announce that I’m going to be the face of the bedroom line once again. Well, not just the face. I mean, it is lingerie, after all.

Hope: This is fantastic. Oh, my gosh.

Brooke: Yeah.

Hope: Wait. You don’t–you don’t agree?

Steffy: Ugh. I can’T. I don’t want to talk about sheila anymore.

Ridge: Well, then let’s not. No more sheila. Done.

Steffy: I didn’t mean to snap like that.

Ridge: It’s okay. Move past it. Let’s talk about something else.

Steffy: Yeah. I actually want to talk to you about something work-related.

Ridge: Work-related? Okay, good. Yes. Let’s talk couture.

Steffy: Dad, why would you make brooke the spokesperson for the bedroom line? (America ferrera) yoplait is america’s favorite

Li: You’ve already done so much for me–saving my life.

Bill: I did what anybody would.

Li: Not true, but I appreciate your attempt at modesty, even though it’s not really your style.

Bill: I was just in the right place at the right time, that’s all.

Li: You brought a complete stranger into your home, bill.

Bill: Well, you’re not a stranger anymore. You’re my daughter’s aunt.

Li: I’m so relieved luna’s father is such a good man. I owe you so much.

Bill: Then you wouldn’t mind doing me a favor. I know that you and your sister have had your issues in the past, but I would really like it if you and poppy got along.

[Li scoffs]

Li: Just a little favor, huh?

Bill: Would it hurt to try?

Li: We’ve never been able to do it before.

Bill: You never had me before.

Li: So this is you pulling people together, being old-fashioned.

[Bill chuckles]

Bill: I meant what I said about family being important to me. If there’s anything that I can do to help you and your sister heal your differences, you can count on me. You’re one of us now.

Poppy: Bill understands why I couldn’t say anything.

Katie: But you didn’t just keep it from bill. You kept the secret from your daughter for her entire life.

Poppy: Luna is happy, katie. Everyone’s happy. Everyone’s happy except you.

Katie: I just think it’s odd. You know, you’ve had this secret. You’ve kept it for over 20 years. You refused to tell your daughter who her father is. You denied it when bill asked you if it could be him, and then out of nowhere, you– you what? You change your mind. You get a paternity test done after all this time, time that luna could have known her father, time that bill could have spent with his daughter.

Poppy: It was time that I needed.

Katie: But why? For what? No. No. Something doesn’t add up here, and I’m gonna find out what it is.

Hope: Well, you can’t be surprised. I mean, ridge has wanted to revamp the bedroom line for a while now.

Brooke: I just didn’t picture myself as the spokesperson.

Hope: Oh, why not? It’s your line.

Brooke: It was a long time ago.

Hope: Well, I think it is a great idea. I think of the message you would be sending about timeless beauty and that a woman can feel confident and sexy at every age. I think it’s exciting.

Brooke: Well, I am flattered. And everything ridge was saying was so sweet. I am interested. But am I the right fit for that demographic? Lingerie.

Hope: Well, you wear it, don’t you?

Brooke: Yes.

Hope: And you are as gorgeous as ever.

[Brooke laughs]

Brooke: Honey, that is so sweet. I appreciate your support. Really, I do. I’m not fishing for compliments. I’m just having qualms about wearing lingerie in front of a camera.

Hope: Well, I think anyone would be nervous about that. But, mom, I mean, you say it makes you feel sexy and confident, and maybe that could be a way for you to help other women feel sexy and confident, too. I’m just saying, think about it. You can always tell ridge no. I personally am hoping you will say yes.

Brooke: I already did.

Hope: Wha–oh, my god!

[Both laughing] Congratulations.

Brooke: Oh, thank you.

Steffy: I was here, dad. I was here when you pitched this to brooke. I saw the video. You wanted her to be the spokesperson.

Ridge: I know. I know you weren’t thrilled about it.

Steffy: Of course I’m not thrilled about it. I’m co-ceo. You need to consult me on these things.

Ridge: I did consult you. I told you we’re gonna retool the line. I told you that.

Steffy: Okay. Bringing brooke on, that’s not a relaunch, dad. That’s a flashback. And honestly, that’s something I really don’t want to flashback to.

Ridge: Oh, so this isn’t about business at all. This is about family history.

Steffy: No, it is about business, okay? I’m asking you from a business standpoint, why brooke? Like, there are so many beautiful models in this building. There are so many celebrities who would sign on. Why brooke?

Ridge: She is more beautiful than she ever was, and everyone around the world loves her. That’s why.

Steffy: You unilaterally brought brooke into the executive team, and I had zero say. You want to push brooke to be the lead model? The line is already profitable. I’m sorry, dad. I think you are making a huge mistake. When you purchase a pair of bombas socks,

Bill: There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you, li.

Li: I owe you far more than you owe me.

Bill: You’ve helped give me a daughter. You’re under the spencer umbrella now.

Bill: What’s going on?

Li: I’m sorry. I’m just–I’m just so relieved my niece has you in her life. The way you’re so proud and happy to be her father. That’s what a family should look like. I think of mine and…[Sighs] All the grueling hours I put in, all the hard work, all the years. Then my… marriage was destroyed by a lie. Sheila’s affair with my husband. A secret he kept for decades.

Bill: Jack let you down. I won’T. Ask my boys. Family is my priority. Now I have a daughter… due in large part to you.

Li: Bill, you saved my life. That’s the least I could do to repay you.

Ridge: Putting brooke front and center will send an empowering message to women all over the world.

Steffy: You’re not doing this to expand the demographic. You want to do this for brooke. I mean everything. It’s brooke, brooke, brooke.

Hope: I can’t believe you already said yes.

Brooke: I got swept up in the moment. Ridge was saying all these wonderful things about me, and he got me revved up about the idea and saying what a difference I could make.

Hope: Wow. That’s because you will.

Brooke: He is launching a global campaign. How could I possibly say no?

Hope: Oh, my gosh. It’s so exciting, mom. I mean, it will be amazing. You will be amazing. I am beyond thrilled for you, mom. Really I am. Just try not to overthink it, okay? Just be your wonderful self.

Brooke: Oh. Thank you, sweetheart.

Poppy: Who is she to question me like that? The nerve coming into my home, ask me questions. “I’m gonna find the answers. I’ve got questions.”

Luna: Mom? Hi. What’s wrong?

Poppy: It is nothing for you to worry about, sweetheart.

Luna: Okay. But you seem upset. So what happened?

Poppy: I just had another run-in with bill’s ex-wife.

[Knocking]

Katie: Hey.

Li: Katie. Hi.

Katie: Hi. Um, do you have a minute?

Li: Sure. Come on in. What can I do for you?

Katie: I just came from bill’s, and I had another unpleasant experience with your sister, and I was wondering if you could help me with it.

[Instructor] Hold it! Hold it!

Luna: What happened with katie?

Poppy: Oh, that infuriating woman. Just so judgmental and just sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong.

Luna: Oh, my goD. What did she say to you?

Poppy: It doesn’t matter, okay? It’s nothing for you to worry about. You just enjoy this new life that you’re sharing with bill.

Luna: I am. And I love it, mom.

Poppy: I do, too. And I will do whatever it takes to keep it.

Li: You want me to help you with penelope?

Katie: I understand the two of you aren’t close.

Li: We haven’t been for a while.

Katie: Can I ask you about that?

Li: It’s no secret. I don’t like the way she’s lived her life. She refuses to try to make it on her own. She’s always relied on the generosity of wealthy older men.

Katie: So you’re pretty much calling her a gold digger.

Li: Yeah, I’m trying to put that behind me.

Katie: But you have concerns. So do I actually. Which is why I have to ask you.

Li: What?

Katie: You did the paternity test for bill and luna. Is there any chance, any chance at all that… the test could be wrong?

Hope: Well, I think this is going to be great for you and the line.

Brooke: Thank you, honey. I appreciate your support. I do.

Hope: Well, I’m not going to be the only one behind you. It sounds like ridge is all for it.

Ridge: Right. Yes. His idea.

Hope: And it is one that is going to pay off big time.

[Brooke sighs]

Brooke: I just wish I had your confidence.

Hope: Well, where do you think I got it from? Mom, you come alive in the spotlight. It’s a gift. You generate all of this buzz and electricity. It is marvelous to watch. And I know that brooke’s bedroom and the relaunch is going to be a huge success.

Brooke: I’m glad you think so.

[Sighs] But I know somebody who’s not going to be so excited.

Hope: Steffy.

Steffy: Revamping the line means going forward. You want to go backwards.

Ridge: The bedroom line is part of the forrester legacy. And so, by the way, is brooke.

Steffy: I can see that you’re really excited about this.

Ridge: I am excited about it. I am. I haven’t been this excited in a long time. I’m excited to design for couture. I’m excited about this line being relaunched and about this amazing, empowering message that we’re sending out into the world. Women can be who they want to be right now.

Steffy: I–I get that. And I think that’s something forrester needs to stand behind. But I think it’s going to be lost if brooke is the spokesperson.

Ridge: She’d be a perfect spokesperson for this.

Steffy: No, the spotlight will be on brooke and not the message. Look, I know you want to put brooke front and center because she is your logan. She’s always been your logan. Nothing new there.

[Sighs]

Ridge: I’m really sorry. I’m sorry that the family breakup is still hurting you.

Steffy: So you agree you’re elevating brooke.

Ridge: No, I’m not– no, I’m not elevating anybody. It’s–she has made a lot of contributions to this company without me.

Steffy: Yeah, yeah. She tore her family apart.

Ridge: Oh, my goodness. What are you–[Sighs] What do you think happened? Do you think she hit me over the head with a club and started dragging me to a cave? No. I left your mother. I did that. So if you want to be mad at somebody, be mad at me. Or even better, don’t be mad at anybody. Whatever resentment you have, just try to get past that. Not for me or for brooke. For you. Can you try and do that? Steffy, I love you so much. I’m so proud of you. You gotta know that. Everything you’re doing here, the work you’re doing is amazing. The way you fight for your family, the way you fight for your marriage. You get up every day and you grab life by the throat. I’ve never seen anything like it. You-you-you’re the most intense woman I’ve ever seen. So I know you can get past this. I know you can. Because this whole forrester versus logan, that’s gone. That’s done.

Steffy: I’m so glad to see you. My hot, sexy, doctor husband.

[Finn chuckles]

Finn: I’m happy to be with you.

Steffy: Well, I was–I was expecting you a little sooner. What held you up?

Hope: I find you attractive. And I would be lying if I said I didn’t think about you and what it would be like to be with you from time to time.

Finn: Okay, hope.

Hope: I know. We are adults. But… can a girl dream?

Brooke: Oh, there you are. Did you hear? Sheila got released from custody.

Hope: Oh, I–yes, I heard.

Brooke: You did?

Hope: Yes. I was with finn when dad texted him.

[Birds chirping]

Poppy: You know.

Bill: What?

Poppy: Luna isn’t home right now.

Bill: Are you saying we have this whole place to ourselves?

Poppy: Uh-huh. So I figured that we could start in the bedroom.

Bill: Start, huh? I do like the sound of that. But I don’t think I’ll have the time I need to devote to those activities. I have someplace I need to be, but I promise I’ll make it up to you.

Poppy: All right. I’m gonna hold you to that.

Bill: You do that.

[Phone chiming]

Poppy: All right. I’m gonna take this upstairs.

Bill: Okay.

Poppy: But… I’ll see you later.

[Bill chuckles]

Poppy: Hey. What’s going on?

Bill: Katie. What a pleasant surprise.

Katie: Yeah, well, I need to talk to you about our son and all the changes in your life.

Katie: I know this seems like I’m not letting this go, but I’m concerned. Your life has changed so much, so quickly.

Bill: You have no need to be concerned. Poppy and luna being in my life, it’s all good.

Katie: See, that’s just it. I’m not so sure it is all good. I’m sorry. This is a bit new for me. I mean, I’ve been concerned or worried about you in the past, but that was different. This is– this is different. You’ve always been so self-assured and stubborn and pigheaded.

Bill: Self-assured, stubborn, pigheaded. Yes. Those are the abcs of me.

Katie: See?

Bill: See what? You’re right.

Katie: I just don’t like that you’re not paying attention to what I’m trying to tell you. This thing with poppy and luna, I–I don’t know if it’s everything it appears to be, and I’m worried.

Finn: What about my sexy… ceo wife? How are things here?

Steffy: Uh…hi.

Finn: Not so good?

Steffy: I’m just, uh– I’m a little frustrated.

Finn: Come here. Hey.

Steffy: Hmm?

Finn: What’s going on? I’m all ears.

Steffy: Brooke and hope. It’s all logans… all the time.

Brooke: So, you were with finn?

Hope: Yes. I, um– he happened to run into me, and I was with him when he heard the news. Dad thought he should know right away.

Brooke: Hmm. Okay. Well, it’s all quite shocking. I mean, we all believe that sheila was responsible for the deaths of hollis and the homeless man. Were you able to talk to your father about this?

Hope: Um, we’ve been texting, but he said that he would give me a call once they got settled at home.

Brooke: You can only imagine how steffy took the news, and I’m sure that finn is beside himself, too.

Hope: Actually, I think finn might be a little relieved, knowing that sheila was released. “I got you” by the beginners

Brooke: Finn’s happy about sheila’s release?

Hope: I said relieved, mom. Happy is not at all how I would describe finn.

Brooke: Well, I’m just surprised he would have that kind of reaction after what he said to chief baker.

Hope: Well, I mean, he’s not naive. He knows what sheila’s capable of.

Brooke: Well, that’s why I thought he’d be upset, enraged even.

Hope: Okay, finn obviously wants her to be questioned. That is the right thing to do in this circumstance, given sheila’s history, given her threats to his family. He just wants to protect them as best as he can. He wants due diligence. But I believe that deep down, perhaps finn didn’t believe that sheila was behind tom and hollis’s deaths. I’m really just worried about finn having to tell steffy the news and what her reaction might be.

Steffy: Hope’s just been particularly difficult lately, and I’m trying so hard not to lose my patience.

Finn: You two just don’t understand each other’s motives. Maybe that’s why you’re…

Steffy: Don’t say what I think you’re gonna say here.

Finn: Wait. What? What am I gonna say?

Steffy: I don’t know, that maybe hope and I align on more than we think. Okay, maybe hope and I have similar adjacent goals, but hope is fighting me on everything. And brooke isn’t helping. I feel like I’m in this impossible situation with these two women who are against me.

[Phone chimes] Ugh! Hold on. Let me check this. I think it could be the distributor. Oh. It’s my dad.

[Gasps] What?

Finn: What? Everything okay?

Steffy: Sheila. She’s been released? What? Wait. You already know?

Finn: Yeah. Deacon just texted me.

Steffy: Why didn’t you tell me that?

Finn: Well, honestly, I was torn.

Steffy: Sheila’s been released?

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: What are they thinking?

Katie: Don’t you think that everything, this whole situation with poppy and luna has just moved a little too fast?

Bill: I’ve already missed out on so much, katie, and I don’t like wasting time. You know that.

Katie: But that doesn’t mean you have to move them into your home and create this whole family unit. I mean, how well do you know them?

Bill: I know enough. They’re family. What more do I need to know? All right, listen, I really do appreciate your concern. And if the roles reversed, I’m sure I’d react the same way.

[Katie laughs]

Bill: Okay, fine. Fine. Yeah, I would be– I’d be much worse. But I’m telling you, your concern in this case is unwarranted.

Katie: Well, I wish I felt the same way.

Bill: You said you wanted to talk about will.

Katie: Yes. Will. He’s going to be home soon, and I’m concerned about how he’s going to fit into this whole thing with poppy and her– and your daughter.

Bill: I’m sure it’s all going to work out. Our son is nothing if not resilient. And you know what? He may love having a sister.

[Katie sighs] Okay, I can see that we’re going to come to no sort of agreement on this thing, and I have somewhere to go.

Katie: Okay, well, I’ve got some paperwork that I need to find for will, and I think it’s– I think it’s around here. I think it’s in there.

Bill: Okay, well, you’re good. I’ve got to get to this meeting. Right? You’re good.

Katie: But–before you go, I know that you’re enamored with the idea of having a daughter.

Bill: It’s not an idea, katie. Luna is my daughter, and I love her, and I vowed to take care of her. In fact, uh, we have discussed adoption. I’d like to make it official and give luna the spencer name.

Katie: Oh, my god. Bill, poppy and luna have not been in your life that long. I mean, you’ve moved them into your home, into will’s home, and now you’re talking about adoption and giving her your name? You need to be careful here, because I know you don’t want to believe it, but I get a weird vibe from poppy. Just please tell me that you’re being cautious. I’ll be cautious.

[Kisses] I’ve got to get to this meeting.

[Scoffs]

[Door closes]

Poppy: Anything I can help you find?

Katie: Oh. I didn’t know that you were here.

Poppy: You know, this is becoming a habit.

Katie: What is?

Poppy: Walking in and finding you in bill’s arms. Hi. I use febreze fade defy plug.

Brooke: Well, I hope finn doesn’t tell steffy that he’s relieved, because I don’t think that’s gonna go over well.

Hope: But his feelings are valid, mom. He should be able to tell his wife how he feels without it being some big betrayal.

Brooke: Steffy has been very upfront with finn when it comes to sheila.

Hope: And finn has been a wonderful husband to her. He has been loving and understanding and committed.

Brooke: Right. Committed to steffy. Now, I don’t need to remind you, do I, that he is married to steffy.

Hope: You can stop reminding me, mom. I know.

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Hope: But I do question more and more if steffy deserves a man like finn.

Steffy: No, no, no, finn. This can’t be happening again. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Finn: It’s just– it’s shocking.

Steffy: No, no. How– how do the authorities just let her go like that? God, I thought that I could finally feel safe again, that I could finally breathe, and then– I can’t believe I allowed this. I can’t believe I allowed this.

Finn: Wait, wait, wait. What did you allow? Okay, her release isn’t on you.

Steffy: No, that I allowed myself to believe that justice would finally be served. But now sheila is out again, and now she has another opportunity to strike. She has another opportunity to show up at our house unannounced. You could be manipulated. She could hurt me or the kids. It just adds a whole other level of panic. How is this not over? I thought this fear could finally subside, this nightmare was over. Oh, my god. I don’t understand this. It had to have been sheila.

Poppy: I keep finding you in my home, badmouthing me to bill.

Katie: Well, I care about bill. He’s the father of my son. He’s important to me.

Poppy: Bill is also the father to my daughter, so obviously he’s important to me, too.

Katie: Well, if you want to know what I was saying to him, I’m happy to tell you. I’m not here to hide anything.

Poppy: No need, because I heard it all, every word, how you think this is moving too quickly, how he doesn’t know us well enough. And I agree. Katie, no one is more surprised and shocked than I am. Luna and I are not trying to invade or overtake anything. We are here because bill invited us, and he’s been more than generous and an absolute gentleman.

Katie: Ever the accommodating girlfriend.

Poppy: That’s right. I am his girlfriend. And I’m not going to hide how much I love him. You let him go. You having a little bit of seller’s remorse, katie? It’s kind of obvious. You want bill back, don’t you? At dot’s an ordinary pretzel just isn’t enough.

Finn: I hate how upset you are. And I totally understand. All I can do is assure you that you and the kids will always be safe.

Steffy: No, you make me feel safe. You do.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: And when you supported me when they took sheila in for questioning, like, that meant the world to me. I just don’t understand why the police could do something like this. Like, how could they let her go?

Finn: All we know is that– that there wasn’t anything tying her to the scene.

Steffy: Oh, god.

Finn: And it’s a possible lack of motive.

Steffy: You can’t be serious.

Finn: No, no, no. Think about it, babe. I mean, tom, why would sheila kill the man that saved her life and officiated their wedding? And hollis was a longtime employee, deacon’s friend. I don’t–like, what would the motive be there?

Steffy: I don’t know. Who knows why sheila does what she does? What I do know is that this woman is evil, and she is capable of doing something like this.

Finn: I agree. She’s capable. And don’t get me wrong. I am grateful that chief baker took her in for questioning. It was the right thing to do.

Steffy: Well, if sheila didn’t do it, who did? Who?

Poppy: Just admit it, katie. This is not about luna and me. It never has been. This is about you and your feelings for bill.

Katie: Something doesn’t make sense. I mean, you show up in town, and seemingly overnight, you have this daughter with bill. It was so abrupt, so sudden. I mean, I have a right to question that. This is the house where bill and I raised our son.

Poppy: Not anymore. This is now the house where bill and I are raising our daughter.

Katie: You know, will be home soon. He’s gonna be here, which means I’m gonna be here.

Poppy: So you’ll visit, and then you’ll leave.

[Katie sighs]

Katie: Something doesn’t add up. Bill doesn’t see it because he’s so in love with this idea of having a daughter. But I see it. Your story has holes. You hooked up with bill at a music festival a long time ago. So if you were that casual with men, then there must have been others. How many? You know, I’ve talked to luna. She’s told me how much she wanted to know who her father was and how much she wanted to have him in her life. And yet you’ve suspected for all of these years that bill could be her father and you kept it from her? I mean, why would you wait 20 years to take the steps, to find out for sure, to finally take a paternity test? Now you’re here, lady of the manor, protecting your relationship with bill, as if you’re worried that someone’s gonna sneak in and take it away from you. It’s almost as if you’re hiding something that could ruin everything. Oh, I’ve got a lot of questions about you, poppy, and I’m gonna find out the answers to every single one of them.

Hope: There’s nothing wrong with having a little innocent conversation.

Finn: I don’t think it’s a good idea to be talking this way.

Steffy: What could you possibly attempt? There’s nothing you can do to me, hope.

Hope: Oh, come on. Are you surprised to find out that I have a little crush on you maybe? I mean, it can’t be that surprising.

Finn: Okay, listen, hope. I, um– I know you’re just having fun and playing around.

Hope: Perhaps. But you still haven’t told me. I mean, can you make a girl’s dreams come true?

Ridge: Well, you just interrupted a very important meeting.

Brooke: Your father and i locked the door for privacy, steffy.

Ridge: Yeah.

Steffy: I thought charlie forgot to unlock the door. I came in here ’cause I was looking for something. Oh, thank god.

Ridge: Well, I’ll call you. I got your text about reviewing the budget.

Steffy: Yeah, yeah, you do that. I’m tripping over too many logans today.

Brooke: Sorry steffy found us together like that.

Ridge: I am sorry we were interrupted.

Brooke: Well, maybe we should pick this up when we get home later.

Ridge: Maybe. For sure, we gotta pick it up. But before all that, we should finish our discussion.

Brooke: Oh, about that. I don’t think it’s a good idea.

Ridge: Why is that? You created the bedroom line.

Brooke: Yes. That was a long time ago.

Ridge: Okay, so what? You were the face of it then. You should be now as well.

Brooke: I don’t think so, ridge. I don’t think I’m of appropriate age to be modeling lingerie, let alone be the face of…

Ridge: Why are you being ridiculous? You’re gorgeous. Maybe more gorgeous now than you were then.

[Sighs]

[Sighs]

Liam: Hey.

Steffy: Hey. Look at you, liam. You’re looking sharp.

Liam: Uh, yeah. I’m supposed to meet with carter about the fashion summit.

Steffy: Yeah, monte carlo. It’s gonna be a blast. I can’t wait. I wish I could leave right now, actually.

Liam: Wow. Any particular reason?

Steffy: You know, I just want to be somewhere that’s logan-free, you know. Like, if there were a place where no logans were allowed, like, sign me up. I want to go. I would like to live there.

[Liam snickers]

Finn: Whatever’s going on with you, I’m, uh… I’m sensing my wife is right in the middle.

Hope: Mm. You may be right about that, and you may be wrong.

Finn: Did something go down between you guys?

Hope: Hmm. We might have gotten into a little bit of a tiff earlier.

Finn: So, this, um– this is about steffy. Is there any chance that you guys will ever get along?

Hope: I was willing to try, but I don’t really want to make this about steffy right now. This is all about you.

I have moderate to severe

plaque psoriasis.

Ridge: Well, I wish you would reconsider. Fashion summit in monte carlo’s approaching, and I think… it’d be the perfect place to restart your modeling career.

Brooke: Okay. I adore you for believing in me. I do.

Ridge: I believe in you because you’re the same woman I married all those years ago.

Brooke: I’m glad you still feel that way. It’s just– I don’t look like I did in my 20s and 30s.

Ridge: Who does?

[Brooke sighs] We’re better now. We have wisdom. We have experience. That’s beauty, real beauty.

Brooke: Well, to tell you the truth, I am nervous about putting myself out there and being scrutinized like that, like people saying, “who does she think she is?”

Ridge: All right, I understand all that. I get it. I don’t want you doing anything you don’t wanna you do. But we have…a real chance to do something special here, make a real impact with a lot of people. Because you, you’re living proof. You’re a unicorn. A freaking unicorn. Living proof that…beauty just gets better every year.

Steffy: All right, please keep me updated as we get closer. All right, thank you. Bye. Ah, the summit in monaco, it couldn’t come soon enough. It’s gonna be a lot of work, but I’m really excited to be spending this time with my father and away from anything and everything logan.

Liam: Well, here’s hoping you learn how to coexist.

Steffy: First, I need to show some decorum and respect here at the office. Like my father and brooke in the other room. Like, I can’t unsee that. I can’T.

Liam: I understand. I think you will survive both that and the whole thing with hope.

[Steffy sighs]

Steffy: Okay, I do think hope and I could get along if she’d just leave my husband alone and stop filling his head with all these insane ideas about sheila.

Liam: Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. Speaking of finn, I, uh–so, I was at the hospital earlier. I was getting my physical, and I took the opportunity to pay him a visit.

Steffy: Oh, I bet he was stoked about that.

Liam: No blood was shed. I promise. It was the opposite. I actually, um–I don’t know. I just wanted to commend him on his part in getting sheila in custody. The guy is actually… putting you and his family first now.

Finn: You know, I’ve been thinking about you lately and those migraines. Or did you even have migraines?

Hope: Yes. The migraines were real, unfortunately. Although they are better now, thanks to you and your help. You really do have magic hands.

Finn: Hmm. Wow. You are something today.

Hope: Sorry. I’m not making you nervous, am I?

Finn: No. I’ve performed thousands of surgeries. I– I have ice water in my veins.

Hope: Oh, I don’t know. Might be a little more hot-blooded than you think.

Finn: Good one. [Chuckles] Look, if you’re trying to get a rise out of me, it’s not gonna work.

Hope: Well, don’t count me out just yet. I still have time.

Finn: Well, on that note, I’m gonna go find my wife. And you should button up.

Hope: Ooh. It’s not often that men tell me to button up. Most men wouldn’T.

Finn: I’m not most men.

Hope: No. There it is.

[Phone beeps] Touché, john finnegan. Touché.

Finn: Hey, um… I just got a text from your dad.

Hope: About what?

Finn: Sheila’S… been released.

Hope: Wow. Uh, okay. Um, how does that make you feel? (Granddaughter laughing)

Brooke: It’s just hard to put into words. I mean, I feel good about myself. I always have.

Ridge: You should feel good about yourself. Look at you. You’re stunning.

Brooke: You’re biased. You like me no matter what.

Ridge: I like you no matter what, because this is undeniable. I’m looking at it.

Brooke: What? What? This body that blessed me with four wonderful children?

Ridge: Yeah, that body. You should be loud and proud with this thing. You should be on billboards, magazines, tv shows. You should celebrate where you are right now. Don’t go away. Stay right here. Ah. All right. I just finished this. This is from the line.

Brooke: Oh, wow.

Ridge: Will you try it on, please?

Brooke: This is exquisite.

Ridge: Come on. Just put it on. Be our champion, our legend, our icon.

Brooke: Okay. Well, if you put it that way, yes, but only for you.

Ridge: Thank you.

Steffy: Did I hear you correctly? Did you compliment my husband?

Liam: Uh, yes, I did. And, yes, I’m just as surprised as you are.

Steffy: Wow. Okay, we gotta send out a press release for that one.

Liam: Well, you know, he deserved it. He finally– he stood up for you and his family.

Steffy: He always does.

Liam: No, he does not always does. Not when it comes to sheila. That’s the whole problem.

Steffy: Oh, okay. But he’s had it up to here with his birth mother.

Liam: Well, good. I mean, better late than never. I know he’s been struggling with this. I know he’s been confused.

Steffy: Not anymore.

Liam: Well, yeah, not anymore. Yeah. If he can’t turn his back on sheila after these two mysterious deaths at il giardino, then…

Steffy: Well, let’s call it what it is. Cold, calculated murder.

Liam: Yeah, probably. I mean, let’s see what the investigation turns up, but either way, your boy came through, and he didn’t allow himself to be snowed by sheila, last minute or not.

Steffy: Yeah, I’m proud of him.

Liam: Let’s hope it sticks.

Steffy: Way to be optimistic.

Liam: I’m optimi– I’m optimistic. I’m just– it’s–I’m cautiously optimistic.

Steffy: Liam, trust me. It’s over. Sheila’s finally in custody.

Hope: So, sheila’s been released?

Finn: Yeah, that’s what deacon just texted me. I mean, apparently, after interrogating her, they found no evidence of guilt.

Hope: I really didn’t see that coming. Uh… I’m curious to hear your thoughts.

Finn: Uh, I mean, I–

Hope: Finn, come on. You know you can be real with me. I’m not going to judge you.

Finn: Yeah, no, I know. Uh, look, I mean, I– I guess part of me is relieved. I mean, deep down, I didn’t really believe that she murdered tom and hollis.

Hope: You didn’t?

Finn: I mean, not anymore. I mean, just the more time that I had to think about it, like, why would she? Like, what would be the reason? She’s happy. She’s focused on turning her life around. Why risk all of that? It doesn’t make sense.

Hope: Okay, to be honest, I don’t really know what to believe anymore.

Finn: No. Frankly, me neither. I mean, look, given her history, I thought it was important that the cops question her, but, I mean, the last thing that I wanted was for her to be found guilty of murdering tom and hollis.

Hope: I’m really happy for you, finn. I’ll be honest.

Liam: Well, it’s nice we can all relax, knowing sheila’s at the police station.

Steffy: Yeah. Next stop is prison. She can rot in that cell for the rest of her life.

Liam: Yeah, well, if there’s any justice in the universe.

Steffy: No, this is the end. She is not getting away with it this time.

Liam: Well, we said that because she shouldn’t have gotten away with it when she shot you and your husband, but still…

Steffy: I know. I know. But I’m really gonna enjoy watching her go down.

Liam: You’re really– you’re confident it’s her, right? Two deaths at il giardino in a matter of days?

Steffy: Absolutely. What, sheila lives 20 feet away? She’s the first person to find hollis’s body? There’s no coincidences here. This is an open-and-shut case. Liam, sheila’s finally gonna pay for her crimes.

Hope: I mean, I still don’t really trust sheila.

Finn: Well, I certainly don’t either. But… regardless, she’s now been interviewed and freed fair and square. I mean, sheila’s officially a free woman. And, yeah, no, I know what you’re thinking– that I’m getting swept up in my feelings for my birth mother.

Hope: Hmm. No. I just don’t want you getting into any more trouble.

Finn: I won’T. I’m not going anywhere near sheila. I’m gonna honor steffy and her wishes.

Hope: I still meant what I said. I am happy for you, finn, and my dad. Although I do think it was a mistake getting married to her. I mean, I probably shouldn’t have even been in that wedding, but I… did it for dad. That’s it.

Finn: Sounds like we’re basically on the same page.

Hope: Yeah, I think we’re pretty in sync in more ways than maybe even we can comprehend. Who knows? Maybe one day you’ll be able to admit how in sync we really are.

[Finn chuckles]

Ridge: Do you need an extra hand?

Brooke: Nope. Just about finished.

Ridge: Because I designed it, I know where everything goes if you, I mean–you know.

Brooke: Ta-da!

[Laughs]

Ridge: You look amazing.

Brooke: Oh, ridge. You’re just saying that.

Ridge: I’m not–no. You–you. Wow. You look fantastic. See, this is why you need to be the face of the brooke bedroom line. This is it. Because no one else has this kind of charisma. No one else has the kind of energy it takes to make these pieces shine. Think of the story you could tell for women all over the world, that beauty is where you want it to be, no matter where you are in life. Do this for me. Come on. Do it for the company. No, do it for me.

Brooke: Well, it is nice to feel valued.

Ridge: You are valued. Because you’re irreplaceable. Come on.

[Brooke sighs] It’s funny, you know. I don’t feel my age. I feel like that young girl that I was when I met you. I know I’m getting older, and that’s okay. I mean, aging is a privilege, right? Not everybody gets to do it. So… this next chapter of my life, I look forward to taking risks and taking on all kinds of challenges, contributing to the community and not passing up an opportunity, but still staying true to myself. I have to tell you, the thought of modeling lingerie on a global stage is frightening as all heck.

[Laughs] But that’s what makes me want to do it.

[Gasps]

Ridge: What did you say? You gonna do it?

Brooke: Yes. Yes, I’m gonna do it.

Ridge: Yes?

Brooke: Yes.

Ridge: That is– that is what I wanted to hear. You’re not gonna regret this. You know. I know. My beautiful, beautiful logan. Thank you.

Brooke: Aw. Well, I’m only as beautiful as the love reflected in your eyes, my sexy, sexy man.

Ridge: I will always love you.

Brooke: I will always love you.

Ridge: But now the world is gonna fall in love with you all over again.

Steffy: Last night was incredible. I haven’t felt so connected to you in A… very long time.

Finn: I couldn’t agree more.

Steffy: Not–[Laughs] Not just about that. I mean, that was amazing, but it–it was more than that. I’m really grateful that you supported me and you encouraged chief baker to take sheila in for questioning.

Finn: Have you seen the paper today?

Steffy: Yeah, I’m looking at it right now, actually. Do you think she’s actually gonna be charged for her crimes this time? Like, I just want sheila out of our lives for good. I don’t think I could take anything else. At least it’s a little bit of good news. Uh, hey, babe, I gotta go.

Finn: Okay. Have a great day.

Steffy: You, too. I love you so much.

Finn: I love you, too.

Hope: Finn?

Steffy: Yeah.

Hope: I heard what happened. So he’s supportive of sheila getting taken in for questioning?

Steffy: Yep. Whatever gray area you think exists for finn when it comes to his mother, it’s gone. He supports me over sheila.

[Knocking]

Liam: Hi. You, uh– you got a sec?

Finn: Liam. Hey. Uh, yeah. Come in.

Liam: Yeah, I was, uh– I was just at my annual physical. Uh, I figured maybe I would stop by and do something I haven’t done in…a while– give you credit.

Ridge: You know, we live in this town, and… sometimes you turn around, there’s trouble. But lately, we turn around, and l the trouble we can find is sheila. Woman can’t help herself, can she?

Brooke: No. She was out free. She even tricked deacon into marriage, resorted to her old ways.

Ridge: Well, she’s in custody now, so…

Brooke: Well, hopefully, she stays there.

Ridge: I like what finn did today. He supported his wife. It was good.

Brooke: He did. Yes.

Ridge: Well, that’s enough. Enough about sheila. Let’s talk about the beautiful logan.

Brooke: Yeah?

Ridge: Mm-hmm. Hi.

Brooke: You want to focus on me, huh?

Ridge: Mm-hmm. Specifically, your beauty. That’s what I’ve been focusing on.

Brooke: Oh, I see. Been working on the bedroom.

Ridge: Yeah, nonstop since you said you were gonna be the star of it.

Brooke: Did I say star, or did I say dip my toe in?

Ridge: Nothing. No, nothing about toes. You said star. You want to be the star of it.

Brooke: Yeah?

Ridge: Uh-huh.

Brooke: I don’t know. It’s just– I’m not sure if I should be modeling lingerie at my age.

Ridge: I looked it up. 25 is the perfect time to go back into it. Ask anybody.

Brooke: Ridge.

Ridge: 30. It’s my last number.

Brooke: Aw, I’m too old.

Finn: You wanna give me credit?

Liam: Yeah, well, I just learned that sheila’s in custody.

Finn: For questioning. Formal charges have yet to be brought.

Liam: Yeah, but they gotta be imminent, right? Listen, it doesn’t matter. I don’t even–I don’t care why she’s locked up. The fact is that she’s locked up, and that means steffy and the kids can’t be hurt by her anymore. And from what I understand, you were very supportive of that. So… thank you for doing the right thing.

Steffy: Finn finally sees sheila for who she truly is. This connection he had to his mother, it’s permanently severed, despite your efforts to the contrary.

Hope: My efforts? Do you mean just listening to finn and validating his feelings?

Steffy: No. You did get into my husband’s head. You made him believe that there was a chance that sheila could be a regular person functioning in society. But that’s not true. Look what happened with hollis. Look what happened with tom. Do not interfere anymore, okay? Do not interfere in their relationship. Let’s pray that justice will finally be served.

Hope: Okay. Fine. That’s great. But, like, do you want to just keep adding to the list of things that I’m doing wrong, like things that you have an issue with me about, steffy. You continually undermine me here at the company. You undermine my mother’s place. You’ve interfered in my personal life. I mean, there’s just so many fun things for you to do.

Steffy: As co-ceo, my job right now is to focus on the lines we produce, the employees underneath me. That’s it. Why? Because I’m in charge, not you, hope, and certainly not your mom. Have you tried these new febreze car vent clips?

Ridge: What is going on with you? Why are you being ridiculous?

Brooke: Ridge, that’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid, looking ridiculous. Modeling lingerie at my age.

Ridge: What do you– at your age? You are more gorgeous than ever. Do you know what you do to me, like, on a daily basis? You–you are– I’m designing stuff, and I can’t get you out of my head. So all I’m doing is thinking about you all day, ’cause you’re so enticing. You’re gorgeous, and you get my blood going.

Brooke: Yeah?

Ridge: Mm-hmm.

[Brooke laughs]

Brooke: Well, it’s good to know that I still have it.

Ridge: Yeah, you still have it.

Brooke: Yeah?

Ridge: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: Mmm.

[Brooke moaning]

Liam: I admit I was worried about, well, you. I mean, where your mind was when it came to sheila.

Finn: I still believe people can change. Yeah, even someone like sheila. But if she killed two people, after all this talk about being a better person, it doesn’t even matter if she did it or not. I know that she cannot have a place in my life either way. But more importantly, steffy knows I know it. I’ve proven it to her. And because of that, steffy and I have never been stronger.

Liam: Well, that’s– that’s you sending me a message, right?

Finn: Yeah, liam, I am.

Hope: Look, steffy, I know you think that being a logan means that we have no class.

Steffy: No, I don’t think that. But I do believe you can be a little manipulative.

Hope: Says the woman who manipulated thomas into moving out of the country.

Steffy: Oh, my gosh. Stop pulling this victim card when it comes to thomas.

Hope: Oh, my gosh. I am not. But I’m also not going to be a fool, steffy. I know you would have been happy with thomas being with anyone as long as it wasn’t me. And it honestly makes me sad, because I thought at one point that, I don’t know, maybe we were close to really becoming friends. And I– I thought… that’s what you wanted. And I wanted it, too. But now, I mean, it just seems nearly impossible.

Steffy: Okay, look, I’m always gonna have thomas’s back. I’m not gonna support an unhealthy relationship.

Hope: That’s your perspective, steffy.

Steffy: This isn’t about you, hope. This is about my brother. I mean, he’s moved on. He’s engaged to another woman. I didn’t manipulate any of this. This was all thomas. The sooner you accept that he’s moved on, that he’s happy, we can–

Hope: I told you that I gave him my blessing, that I wished him and paris the best. Steffy, you got what you wanted. Isn’t that enough? You always do. But I don’t know. I would be careful, because one of these days, someone… might cut you down to size.

Steffy: You?

Time to press rewind with…

Liam: You know, I’m really not the one you have to send messages to about your commitment to your marriage. It’s– it’s steffy that needs to hear that stuff.

Finn: I’m actually on my way to see her now. Rest assured, liam, she and I have great communication. She knows where I stand and that I always put her first. And it is way past time that you learned that, too. I know that you’ve been going to see steffy, telling her that she can’t trust me, that I’m a mama’s boy or whatever. That has to stop, liam. I’m warning you. Don’t interfere with my marriage.

Steffy: Cut me down to size. What is that supposed to mean? Really? What could you possibly attempt? There’s nothing you can do to me, hope. I’ve already been through enough. I don’t want to deal with this. I certainly don’t want to deal with this kind of energy.

[Phone chimes] I have a lot going on right now. My schedule is nonstop, and– and zende wants to see you about your line. So why don’t you head on down, uh, backstage? Focus on hope for the future. Make use of your time instead of these veiled threats.

[Sighs] Ugh! Logans. Oh, god.

[Doorknob rattling] Damn it, charlie. How many times do I tell you? Unlock the doors before your shift.

[Scoffs] What? What on earth? Okay. Oh, no. Oh. Whoa. No. Ugh. Great. Great. Another logan.

Hope: No. The designs look gorgeous, zende. Yep, I’m looking at that one right now. Well, I can try it on next and let you know what I think. I’ll send you a photo. Okay. Sure. Yeah. I’ll see you when you get in. Okay.

Finn: Tell him it’s a normal reaction. He shouldn’t worry. I’m not at the hospital right now actually. I stepped out for a bit, but… oh, uh, I’m sorry. I have to go. Something came up. I am so sorry. I should have knocked.

Hope: No. Welcome to what it is like being in a fashion house. Although I’m sure you’ve seen more in your line of work. Hi. Hi, by the way.

Finn: Hi, yourself.

Hope: Well, I wasn’t expecting to have company back here. Clearly.

Finn: Yeah. I apologize. I was on my way to see steffy. I needed to take this call in a quiet place. I had no idea I’d be walking in on–on that.

Hope: It’s fine. Actually, this is hope for the future’s latest. What do you think?

I’m jimmy dean

and only one thing

Steffy: What are you doing? Can you just put on some clothes or something?

Brooke: Okay, well, we locked the door. We were expecting some privacy, actually.

Steffy: Oh, that’s great. Can you just wait till you get home? ‘Cause this is just–it’s too…

Ridge: Hey. What’s going on with you?

Steffy: Nothing. I don’t want to see this. This is weird. And I certainly don’t want to see brooke. Another logan.

Hope: You like what you see?

Finn: Uh, yeah. It’s very, um…

Hope: What?

Finn: Classy and, um, provocative. Uh… look, I should get out of your hair. You’re obviously in the middle of something.

Steffy: Cut me down to size. What is that supposed to mean? What could you possibly attempt? There’s nothing you can do to me, hope.

Hope: You know what? No. Finn, you– you don’t have to go. Besides, I think we should, um– we should talk about something. I mean, it’s no secret. I’m sure you can tell.

Finn: Tell what?

Hope: Well, okay. You gave me really good advice about thomas, that I deserved, you know, a man who wasn’t dishonorable to me in the past, that I should, you know, think about my own wants and desires and what I need and wait for a real love, which I believe I’ve found. For myself. I mean, the most important kind of love. And you helped me realize that. So, um, I just want to thank you because I was struggling, and you didn’t have to help me, but you did. And you are a selfless man, finn. And now’s the time I’m going to say it. Steffy is lucky to have you. Although I just am not sure how grateful she is to have that. Just seeing how she acts in the company, downplaying the logans’ contributions, continually disrespecting my mother and me. I mean, it’s like a constant battle. And so I’m just– I have to ask. Is that what it’s like at home? Does steffy appreciate you? Because you are a man, finn, who deserves to be appreciated. I mean, I’ll even admit it. I– I find you attractive. And I would be lying if I said I didn’t think about you and what it would be like to be with you from time to time.

Finn: Hope. You can’t talk this way.

Hope: No, I know. I know. We are adults, but… can’t a girl dream? Can’t a girl dream?

Here’s a look ahead.

Katie: I’m getting a weird vibe from poppy.

Deacon: What if somebody actually made it look like an overdose? In reality, it was a murder.

Brooke: I’m going to be the face of the bedroom line.

Hope: Oh, my god.

Brooke: Well, not just the face. I mean, it is lingerie after all.

Steffy: Granddad and the kids are watching a movie.

Finn: He and donna are okay with kelly and hayes sleeping over?

Steffy: Oh, my gosh. Grandad suggested it, and he really is just a big kid himself.

Finn: [Chuckles]

Steffy: [Exhales]

Finn: A glass of wine?

Steffy: How about the whole bottle? It’s been that kind of day.

Finn: You okay?

Steffy: Just letting everything just sink in.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: We need to find out about tom and hollis, that they died both from an overdose, the same drug. And then chief baker takes sheila in for questioning? You urged him to do that.

Finn: If you asked me what I thought, I told him the truth.

Steffy: Sheila was really surprised. She thought that you were going to defend her.

Finn: The way I have in the past? It’s okay. You can say it. I’ve made a lot of allowances for my birth mother’s actions.

Steffy: But no more. You stood up for me. And our family.

Brooke: So sheila is at the police station being questioned.

Ridge: If baker’s smart, he’s gonna hold onto sheila until she tells him the truth.

Hope: Well, I’m still trying to figure out why sheila would want either of them dead.

Brooke: Maybe they had something on her. Maybe they knew something sheila didn’t want getting out.

Hope: Okay, well, like what?

Ridge: I don’t– it’s sheila. It could be anything. She’s always keeping somebody else’s secret, protecting somebody, right?

Hope: Uh, when you talked to steffy, did she mention anything about my dad?

Ridge: What? No. I’ll mention something about your dad. May I? He should get on the phone, find the best divorce lawyer in the country, and get rid of that mess he’s in. What’s he thinking? Why would he marry that woman? Did she dupe him the same way she duped finn? Probably. But you know what? At least finn was smart enough to walk away from it, because according to steffy, he was defending his wife and his kids in front of this crazy birth mother. So not all is lost. It’s a step in the right direction.

[Theme music playing]

Brooke: So, did they find more evidence that points to sheila?

Ridge: Not yet. But the toxicology report is damning. And tom and hollis, they died of the same drug, same dose. And who do you think could administer something like that? Psycho nurse. So I’m glad baker’s holding onto her. And I’m also glad that finn has seen the light.

Hope: What do you mean?

Ridge: You know what I mean. He’s always tied to sheila in some way, but I think he’s figured it out because maybe he saw that it’s affecting his marriage, so he’s stepping away from it. And maybe now he can be the husband and the father that steffy needs him to be.

Finn: I feel like a fool defending sheila so often in the past.

Steffy: There was a lot of conflicting emotions, and finn, I– I know you. I care about people.

Finn: But that’s no excuse. Too many times I’ve left you feeling unheard. Your concerns were very real. I’m sorry.

Steffy: Hey, hey, it’s okay. That’s behind us now. I mean, you were there for me when it mattered today. You were there for kelly and hayes and, like I said, you stood up for us. And I love you so much for it. Always dry scoop before you run.

Ridge: Steffy loves finn. Some of the choices he’s made.

Brooke: Where sheila’s concerned.

Ridge: Yeah, where sheila’s concerned. He always gives her the benefit of the doubt. He should have pushed her away a long time ago.

Hope: Well, he would have if she wasn’t his birth mother.

Ridge: Li is his mother. She’s the one that raised him when he was a kid. Am I wrong?

Brooke: Thank god. If sheila didn’t give him up, she would have raised him. Can you imagine the life he would have had?

Ridge: What’s the difference? He still let her into his life after he knew who she was. He should have pushed her away, told her to go away, and maybe he wouldn’t have this problem. Maybe she would’ve gotten the message. Or maybe not. It’s sheila. I don’t know.

Brooke: Yeah, you know sheila. When lines are drawn, she manages to step right over them or erase them completely, especially when finn is involved.

Ridge: Well, that’s it. Steffy can see what sheila’s doing, and she wants finn to see it, as well.

Brooke: But he couldn’t cut sheila out of his life. Not completely.

Ridge: But that’s it. This is the problem. Steffy thinks that he can’t be the husband and the father that she needs.

Hope: Steffy shouldn’t have to question his commitment and love to their family. I mean, it’s– it’s pretty obvious. Steffy is lucky to be married to a man like finn. She’s very lucky.

Steffy: Sheila’s always been her own worst enemy. Like nothing is ever enough. She’s never satisfied with what she has.

Finn: You mean her, like, her life with deacon?

Steffy: That I will never understand. Like, how could he love a woman like that? And honestly, after everything that’s happened, I really thought that maybe, just maybe, sheila could change and be, like, a better wife. But no. Now she’s implicated in this very suspicious death, and– at her husband’s restaurant. Like, this is gonna be really bad business for him.

Finn: Oh. Yeah and he might have to lock his doors up soon. He’s gonna lose everything he worked for.

Steffy: All because she killed two men that ticked her off for some reason.

Finn: Well, and I’ve been trying to figure out, like, what that reason would be. Why would she go after tom and hollis?

Steffy: Finn, you’re not–

Finn: No.

Steffy: Okay.

Finn: No, I meant every word I said to baker earlier. Yes, I believe in second chances, but everywhere that sheila goes, bad things happen, and it would be irresponsible to just take her word when she says that she had nothing to do with tom and hollis’ deaths.

Steffy: In all likelihood, she did it. But you know, she’s not gonna cop to it.

Finn: Hey, it’s up to the cops now. But whatever they find out, just never forget that you and the kids will always be my priority.

[Cellphone chimes]

Ridge: Oh, no, I forgot. I have a meeting with the mayor. I gotta go. I’m sorry.

Brooke: Oh, no, that’s okay. Yeah. Of course.

Ridge: Bye.

Brooke: Oh… oh, my gosh. With all this drama swirling around about sheila, of course we’re gonna forget things like that.

Hope: I’m just– my mind’s on dad. I hope he’s okay. But do you think I should go and check on him or–?

Brooke: No, no, just let things settle down a bit. Besides, he’s probably at the police station cheerleading for sheila. But now I can have a moment alone with you.

Hope: Oh, did you want to talk about something?

Brooke: Well, I just wanna see how you’re doing.

Hope: Ah, you mean now that paris has left with thomas and douglas?

Brooke: I know how you miss douglas when he’s not around.

Hope: I do. Terribly. And I will always be his mother. But, mom, you should know that thomas made it a point to say to me that he wants to prioritize our relationship, that he’s not trying to keep my son from me, so…

Brooke: Okay.

Hope: You’ll also be happy to know I– I have come to terms with their engagement.

Brooke: You have?

Hope: Yes. I gave thomas my blessing, and I wished him the best.

Brooke: Oh…

Hope: So, I mean, it’s not… easy to accept the fact that he has moved on with paris, but, um… I don’t– I don’t know. Maybe he’s right. Maybe we were never meant to be.

Hope: Wait, wait. What do you mean, who’s right? Thomas?

Hope: No. Finn.

Hope: Finn believes that I can do better than thomas, and I know you felt the same way.

Brooke: Okay, well, now I’m not concerned about thomas. I’m concerned about your feelings for finn.

Hope: Mom, relax. We’re just– we’re good friends.

Brooke: Honey, things can happen, things that you never intend to. A perfectly innocent moment could suddenly ignite. I want you to be careful around him. I really do. He’s happily married, honey.

Hope: Well, I mean, according to steffy.

Brooke: According to finn, he loves steffy.

Hope: [Sighs] I know, I know.

Brooke: I just don’t want you to do something that you’re going to regret.

Hope: Mom, I– I can handle it. Besides, I am well aware that finn is devoted to steffy. She would never let me forget that fact.

Brooke: Okay, well, don’t forget they have a family, too.

Hope: I am also aware of that, but so… is finn not allowed to have friends?

Brooke: Yes, of course.

Hope: So we’re good friends. And it’s through that friendship that I have come to realize that I am deserving of a man who is intelligent, loyal, capable. A man just for me.

Brooke: Yes, and that man won’t be finn.

Hope: No, I mean, if finn happened to have an identical twin brother who was available, I mean, I wouldn’t complain. But, uh, since that is not a possibility and finn is married to steffy…

Brooke: Somebody that you’ve been at odds with lately.

Hope: Who I will probably always be at odds with. I just don’t want that to affect my relationship with finn.

Steffy: As much as I miss the kids, it’s really nice to have a night to ourselves.

Finn: Yeah, especially after the day we’ve had.

Steffy: [Groans] But you did the right thing. Telling chief baker what you did. And, yeah, even though sheila is your birth mother, this is a woman who shot you. And I think about all the things she’s done to us. I mean, even your real mother, she drove her off the road. And now tom and hollis.

Finn: Hey, honey, we have better things to do than talk about this. Especially when I’m lying here with the sexiest wife in the world. I have an idea.

Steffy: Go on.

Finn: No more talk. Let’s get you out of these clothes. Honestly, I was scared when I was told age

Brooke: Sweetheart, we’ve had a lot of conversations about finn. You’ve admitted to me that you’re attracted to him.

Hope: Well, would you rather I had lied and just told you what you wanted to hear?

Brooke: I’m glad that you were honest with me. I just want you to be honest with yourself. Finn is off limits.

Hope: Oh, my gosh. I realize that.

Brooke: He is married to a woman that you’ve had a history with, especially dealing with men.

Hope: Well, what can I say? We have similar tastes.

Brooke: Okay, well, you’ve been on a collision course before in the past, and now it’s with finn. Just want to make sure that you don’t make the same mistakes I’ve made. I know you said that you don’t want to.

Hope: I’m sorry if I offended you with that.

Brooke: No, no, I totally understand. I don’t want you to, either, sweetie. I just know you’re in a very vulnerable place right now. First thomas, now finn. I wanna make sure you can handle things.

Hope: Mom, finn is important to me as a friend. He listens. He’s sensitive to what I’m going through. He has been incredibly supportive of me during this difficult time, and I value that. And I’ve come to admire him as a man. In many ways. +

Finn: I don’t know about you, but… I think we needed that.

Steffy: [Chuckles] Yeah, we definitely did. Never got enough alone time. Especially with our… two rambunctious kids. It’s not just the kids, though. I mean… it’s my crazy schedule at the hospital. And, like, I know it’s probably not easy being the wife of a doctor. Not that you’d ever complain. Hey, promise me something. Never doubt or question the love I have for you.

Steffy: I don’T. And after today, the way you stood up for me, our family– that means the world to me.

Finn: I love you.

Finn: Well, I know you’re pulling for me.

Hope: Yeah, I just want what’s best for you.

Finn: Well, I appreciate it.

Hope: I’m just glad that you’re comfortable sharing all this with me. Thank you. And… I don’t know, just continue to prove that you’re such an incredible man. So, thanks.

Brooke: But things can happen, honey. Things that you never intended to. A perfectly innocent moment could… suddenly ignite. Just be careful. Very careful where finn’s concerned.

Hope: [Sighs]

Steffy: Tom and hollis died from overdosing on the same drug at the same location.

Li: Yes. And comparing to tom’s report, the exact same level of toxicity. Steffy: Oh, my god.

Li: That’s not a coincidence. Steffy: No. Sheila murdered them. I mean, she was a nurse, a medical professional. She knows all about dosing. Finn, she needs to be stopped before she hurts someone else.

Li: Stephy’s right, finn. This only further implicates sheila.

Sheila: Look at me. Deacon. I know that you hurt over what happened to tom and–and hollis, but–

Deacon: I’m not hurt. I’m freaking out. They are my friends–

Sheila: Look, it was a tragedy. It was a tragedy what happened to the two of them. But I don’t want you to let your mind run wild with thoughts of murder.

Baker: Did somebody say murder?

Deacon: Chief baker.

Baker: In the flesh. I have questions about the two recent deaths in your establishment.

Hope: So no word from steffy?

Ridge: Nope.

Brooke: She has to be at the hospital by now. I’m hoping she’ll have some answers soon.

Hope: Gosh, it just feels like yesterday I was at dad and sheila’s wedding. Tom was officiating. Hollis was making sure everything was perfect about the day, and… I don’t know. I just don’t understand how they’re gone.

Ridge: What don’t you understand? It’s sheila. I don’t know how or why, but she killed those men.

Ridge: I don’t know why sheila does what she does. She’s a psychopath. There’s never a reason for what she’S… what she’s doing. Two people are dead at el giardino’s because of her.

Carter: Sounds like you’ve heard the latest.

Brooke: Hollis. It’s a tragedy.

Carter: Yeah. My contact at the police department reached out. I have information about what killed them. It was an overdose.

Baker: Shouldn’t leave your door open like that. Been a lot of death around here recently.

Deacon: We’re feeling the loss.

Baker: That’s why I’m here. Two of your employees have died in your restaurant, deacon. We need to investigate that.

Deacon: I understand. And they weren’t just employees. They were my friends.

Baker: I need to find out exactly what happened with both men.

Li: We all know this is sheila’s doing. I was just on my way to confront her at il giardino.

Steffy: I was planning to do the same.

Finn: If sheila killed these men and is back to her old ways, is having an altercation with her wise?

Steffy: Since when has standing by waiting for her to attack helped us?

Li: It hasn’T. It left you both shot, nearly dying in an alley.

Steffy: Never again. I’m confronting sheila, and you both are coming with me. She is too arrogant and hot-headed right now. She’s not gonna be able to hide this. We can… we can put enough pressure on her, and she’ll slip. She always does. I’m not gonna rest until that woman is rotting in prison for the rest of her godforsaken life. Dangerous ladders. Gutter muck.

Ridge: So let me get this straight. Two people died, not only in the same place, but overdosing on the same drug?

Carter: According to the toxicology report, yes.

Hope: But we’ve established that hollis cared about his health. He cared about his fitness. And now you’re telling us that he died of a drug overdose at work?

Brooke: You think they were doing drugs together?

Carter: I can’t tell you that. I only know what the report says. How’s deacon?

Hope: He’s not doing well. Tom and hollis were his friends. When he first took over il giardino, hollis was the one who helped him put his vision together. And tom, well, he obviously was an important part of my dad’s life.

Ridge: Because he saved sheila’s life. That’s kind of ironic.

Brooke: That could be a tragic coincidence.

Ridge: It’s never a coincidence when she’s involved. You know that.

Carter: When I heard the news, my mind went there too.

Ridge: Yeah, exactly. So there it is, just waiting for the other shoe to drop. And there it is. Sheila’s other shoe dropped. Two people dead on the victim list.

Hope: Oh, but… why them, though? It doesn’t-

Ridge: Why not them? What…? This is sheila. She tried to kill my daughter to get closer to finn and hayes. That’s what she does. She’s psychotic. Sheila carter.

Baker: All right, deacon. Walk me through the moments before mr. Starr died.

Deacon: Okay. Um, you know, he was up on stage. He was performing. He–it was amazing. You know, tom actually was a pretty big musician back in the day. Even had a song on the radio once and… it just… it felt good to give him a platform to, you know, be reliving that part of his life again. And he was… he was playing so well.

Sheila: Yeah.

Deacon: You know, it was a great night, and then… then he collapsed. We just called 911.

Sheila: I–I used to be a nurse, so I–I did what I could, but he–he just went so fast.

Deacon: We learned later that it was an overdose, and… it’s heartbreaking. You know, tom dealt with addiction, but he cleaned himself up. I mean, he had an opportunity for a second chance.

Baker: Sorry for your loss. Losses. Sadly, it happens so often. But now that another employee has died downstairs, a case has been opened.

Sheila: A case?

Baker: Yes, to make sure there was no foul play.

Deacon: What are you doing here?

Steffy: I knew it. Glad to see that the police are involved.

Sheila: We’re cooperating, steffy, there’s no need for all of this.

Baker: If there’s something you’d like to add, we could talk at a different time.

Steffy: No, you’re gonna want to hear this right now. Finn, tell him.

Finn: As I’m sure you’re aware, hollis’ autopsy was done at my hospital. He died of an overdose.

Deacon: No, no, no. There’s no way. No. Hollis… hollis didn’t use.

Li: There were drugs found in his system when he died.

Baker: I read the report. This isn’t news to me.

Steffy: Tom and hollis overdosed on the same drug.

Li: Same toxicity levels.

Steffy: Two men died, and we know why.

Sheila: [Scoffs] Wait a minute. Why are you looking at me?

Steffy: Because it’s you, sheila. You killed them.

Ridge: Now, what I’m saying is, I don’t know if it’s here or not. I can look for it, but not right this minute.

[Exhales] Yes, I hea

Ridge: Now, what I’m saying is, I don’t know if it’s here or not. I can look for it, but no

Hollis: Here is to the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Brooke: Yes. I’ll drink to that.

Hollis: Cheers.

[Glasses clink] Like you said, things change. Hey… don’t underestimate me, boss.

Ridge: I–I appreciate all your help. I do, and I will get it figured out, but not… but not right this moment. Ok… I’m–I’m gonna have to call you back. I-I will. Sorry about that. Sometimes… okay, I get it. Hollis taking drugs is not adding up for you. Tom, different story, right? He had his problems with alcohol, with drugs. But hollis…

Brooke: No, nothing about hollis would lead anybody to believe that he had a substance abuse. And deacon’s street smart. He would have picked up if hollis was using.

Ridge: Probably. So what is it? Let’s make sense of it, right? He didn’t use drugs, but he died of an overdose. How does that make sense to anybody?

Carter: If what you’re saying about hollis is true, then it reinforces our theory that sheila had a hand in this.

Ridge: Carter… it’s a nice theory. It really is. And I love you, and I respect you, but… let’s call it what it is. Can we do that?

Brooke: Why is sheila not behind bars?

Ridge: Or six feet under.

Brooke: After all the horrible things she’s done through her life, now she’s running around, and she possibly killed two innocent men?

Sheila: That’s a dangerous accusation.

Steffy: Well, you’re a dangerous animal.

Deacon: All right, steffy, that’s enough. Please, just–just leave. All right? We’re–we’re dealing with enough here.

Steffy: How many people have to suffer before you take this monster and lock her up? Think about everything she’s done to us. She shot me. She shot finn. She drove li off the road, left her for dead.

Li: And now tom and hollis are her latest victims.

Sheila: I didn’t do this.

Deacon: All right, listen, if what you’re saying about tom and hollis is true, that they died of a drug overdose, then it’s ludicrous to blame sheila. You’re not actually buying this, are you?

Baker: I wouldn’t be a very good cop if I didn’t follow up every lead.

Sheila: But I didn’t do this.

Li: Lies. This is what you do. You hurt people and then do everything you can to cover it up.

Sheila: That’s not true.

Steffy: Nine toes says otherwise.

Sheila: I’m not that person anymore. I’ve changed. I am in therapy. I am married to the love of my life. I am leading a simple, peaceful life.

Deacon: Look, these are false, erroneous claims, and I’m not gonna tolerate it.

Li: This woman–

Deacon: Okay, stop right there, all right? In my house, you’re gonna treat my wife with respect. Look, you guys are way off base thinking that sheila did this. Il giardino’s, it’s our home. Tom and hollis are like family to us.

Sheila: But tom… if it weren’t for him, finn and deacon never would have found me chained up in that… in that warehouse. And hollis, he treated me with respect. He never looked at me like I was some sort of a monster. I cared deeply for both of them. Now, I may have done some horrible things, but I did not do this. I am not responsible for tom and hollis’ death.

Li: Then tell us what happened to them, sheila. Hmm? Tell us.

Sheila: [Sighs] Oh, my god. That’s it.

Baker: What?

Sheila: Hollis found tom’s backpack, and he said that there was something in that backpack that–that could have gotten tom killed, and now hollis is dead, too.

Finn: What are you saying?

Sheila: I’m saying the clue is in that backpack, finn. We’ve–we’ve got to find it. (Vo) when it comes to nature valley,

Steffy: The lies that come out of your mouth. Now there’s this mysterious backpack you just conveniently remembered.

Sheila: I am not lying.

Baker: Stephy, let me handle this. Tell me some more about this backpack.

Sheila: [Sighs] What? What is that?

Hollis: It’s tom’s backpack.

Sheila: Why on earth would you have tom’s backpack?

Hollis: I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how and why tom died. I think I discovered something.

Sheila: Are–are you rifling through his stuff to find his drug stash?

Hollis: I… no. No, not at all.

Sheila: That’s how he died, hollis. There’s nothing for you to wrap your head around. That’s the last time I saw hollis. I feel horrible for being so short with him, but I was… I was still upset about tom’s death.

Deacon: It’s okay. Hollis knew how you felt about him.

Baker: Did you know about any of this?

Deacon: No.

Baker: What was in the backpack?

Sheila: I don’t know.

Baker: You didn’t look inside?

Sheila: No. I told him to get rid of it.

Baker: Why would you do that?

Sheila: Well, tom had no family to leave it to, and I was worried there might still be drugs in it. I didn’t want that attached to the restaurant.

Baker: Call the police, not throw it away.

Li: Unless you wanted to get rid of some damning evidence.

Sheila: You don’t know what you’re talking about. I want to know who killed hollis and tom just as much as all of you.

Steffy: Yeah, I highly doubt that.

Sheila: G-give me a minute to think. I just… the backpack. That backpack still has to be here downstairs. That’S… that’s where our answers are.

Brooke: Still nothing?

Ridge: Uh, stephi’s not answering her texts now.

Carter: Is she okay?

Ridge: I’m sure she’s fine. She’s at the hospital trying to get to the bottom of things.

Baker: Wasn’t in the stockroom.

Li: Or the dumpster.

Sheila: Hollis used to stash things behind the bar all the time. Maybe it’s here.

[Sighs] It’s–it’s not here.

Steffy: Shocker.

Li: Chief baker, please. Please, tell me you see what sheila’s doing.

Steffy: This is just a smoke screen.

Sheila: I’m telling the truth.

Deacon: Why would she lie about this?

Li: To cover up what she did.

Deacon: You know what? You have no motives. You have no proof. All you have are ridiculous accusations.

Baker: Hey, hey, hey, hey. I’m the only one running this investigation. You understand? Was sheila with you that entire night?

Deacon: No, she… she came up to the apartment a little bit later.

Baker: Is that true?

Sheila: Of course it’s true. But I also wasn’t downstairs killing hollis.

Steffy: Chief baker, take sheila in for questioning. I am not safe. Our family is not safe.

Li: Wouldn’t be the first time two people were harmed here. There could be more if this doesn’t end now.

Sheila: I had nothing to do with tom and hollis’ death. Chief baker, you can’t take me in. You can’T. Finn. Finn, say something. I mean, you believe me, don’t you? Please, just say something.

Finn: I believe in second chances. I don’t know what happened to tom and hollis here, but what I do know is wherever sheila goes, destruction follows. I have a family to protect. My wife’s right. And out of an abundance of caution, and given sheila’s past crimes, we would feel safer, and it would be prudent to take sheila into custody for questioning.

Baker: Looks like we agree.

Sheila: No.

Deacon: Come on, you don’t mean this.

Finn: Chief baker, take her away.

Finn: Mom, the toxicology report says Hollis died of a drug overdose.

Li: Yes, just like the other man he worked with.

Finn: Tom.

Li: Yes. The same drug was found in both their systerms.

Poppy: Oh, that’s so tragic.

Li: Yes, but it’s not an accident. They were killed, Finn, and I know exactly who did it.

Poppy: Who?

Li: You know exactly who I’m talking about, Penelope.

Brooke: “Second death at Beverly Hills restaurant.”

Hope: Do the police think they’re connected?

Brooke: Well, they’re investigating now…interviewing other employees.

Ridge:  It’s definitely going to take a cut out of the pizza business.

Steffy: Well, there’s one employee they should be questioning first.

Deacon: Of course I’ll cooperate with the police.  I’ll help in any way I can. Yeah, you can quote me on that.  Listen, listen. You know, we pride ourselves at being a high class establishment here at Il Giardino.  Well, you know what? Our customers do feel safe. It’s my responsibility to make them feel safe, and the staff. Look, I’m not gonna let this go.  I’m gonna find out what happened because Tom and Hollis weren’t just employees. I lost two of my friends.

Ridge: Sorry, I’m not trying to make light of two people dying, but the restaurant is going to take a hit.  The press loves a scandal.

Steffy: Bad press will be the least of his worries if the cops actually look into this.

Hope: Wait, you’re not saying that you think my dad had something to do with this.

Ridge: Two people died at his restaurant, and he’s got a bit of a shady past, so, yeah.

Steffy: Deacon is no saint, but it isn’t difficult to connect the dots and realize who’s behind this.

Deacon:  No, no, that’s not what I said. Look, uh, Tom and Hollis were good men. They were good friends. Why don’t you try printing that?

Sheila: Reporter?

Deacon: No…vulture!  Guy just wanted click bait. You know, he’s making it seem like Il Giardino’s cursed or something.

Sheila: Well, isn’t that the way you’re feeling?

Deacon: Maybe, but I sure as hell don’t want it over the news!

Sheila: You think it’s going to be bad for the restaurant.

Deacon: Ah, it ain’t gonna be good for it.  I’m not upset. I’m just sick to my stomach. I lost my friends; I don’t know why. I wanna know why. I wanna know what the hell happened.

Li: It’s obvious who killed these two men.

Poppy: Uh, not to me.

Li: You wanna deny it?

Finn: Mom, what are you saying?

Li: What should be perfectly clear to everyone.  Two employees of Il Giardino are dead. Overdosed on the same drug and killed at the same place.

Finn: You keep saying, “killed,” but the report just —

Lie: The report only gives us part of the story, Finn. We know the rest.  These two men came in contact with an unstable woman who has a history of violent, criminal behavior: Sheila Carter.  Sheila Carter killed those men.

Hope: My dad wants to know how this happened more than anyone.

Steffy: Even if his wife’s behind it?

Hope: Well, I mean, if… tom and hollis died because of, I don’t know, a shooting or stabbing, I could see that. But let’s not forget, tom did die of an overdose.

Steffy: Sheila hurts people any way she can.

Brooke: It’s true, honey. She’s capable of anything.

Hope: And I am not denying that or defending her.

Steffy: This is not a coincidence, hope.

Hope: Yeah, but they can happen.

Ridge: Not like this, they can’t, what are you talking about? Two people died unexpectedly in the same place. You throw sheila into the mix, you gotta wonder about it, right?

Hope: Okay, fine, yes. Yes, I agree.

Steffy: So what are you gonna tell us? Keep an open mind about sheila? Give her a chance?

Hope: No.

Steffy: Because your gut is telling you the same thing mine is.

Hope: [Sighing] Yes. Tom and hollis could have died because of sheila.

Sheila: Don’t let that reporter get to you.

Deacon: That’s not him. It’s this whole damn situation.

Sheila: But you had nothing to do with it.

Deacon: Sheila, I have everything to do with it. It’s my restaurant. They were my friends.

Sheila: And they know that you cared about them, deacon.

Deacon: I was upstairs when hollis died, steps away, and he was down here alone.

Sheila: But you didn’t know.

Deacon: I still don’t know. What happened? What the hell happened to hollis?

[Distant car horn honking]

Sheila: Did the reporter ask you about that?

Deacon: Oh, yeah, no, I mean, he wants to make this seem like it’s the scandal of the century.

Sheila: But that’s his job. You’ve got to sensationalize, or people aren’t going to pay attention.

Deacon: Tom and hollis deserved attention before they died.

Sheila: And you gave them that… baby, you gave them attention, care, respect.

Deacon: Yeah, well, apparently not where it really mattered, right? Tom said he was sober, and then he od’s? It doesn’t make sense.

Sheila: No, but people make their own choices. Sometimes just one bad decision has– has a tragic outcome.

Deacon: What are you saying? You think hollis made a bad decision? I mean, do you think he was sick or… just think he was in the wrong place at the wrong time? We have no idea why hollis died.

Finn: [Sighing] You think sheila did this?

Li: Don’t you dare defend that sociopath. I don’t care if she gave birth–

Finn: No, I’m not defending her. I admit, I couldn’t help but think the same thing. Two co-workers, in the same workplace, the same substance.

Li: I’m so relieved to hear you say that.

Poppy: I don’t know sheila very well, but she does have kind of a frightening history. I agree with my sister. If foul play was involved, then sheila has to be the prime suspect.

Finn: Yes, but at this point, we can’t say what happened to hollis and tom weren’t accidental overdoses. I mean, there’s an epidemic of drug-related deaths in this country. I mean, we see it all the time in the er. The amount of deaths that is out there, that drug kills.

Li: Yes, it sure does. But so does sheila. Do I need to remind you of how she terrorized us? Shot you, held you hostage… rammed me off the road and… left me to die.

[Engine roaring]

Li: Damn it, sheila! Aah! God!

[Engine revving]

[Car horns honking]

Li: Back off, you crazy bitch!

[Crash]

[Booming]

[Tires squealing]

Li: Aah!

Li: I am absolutely certain sheila carter murdered those two men. A mystery!

Ridge: Everyone warned deacon to cut ties with sheila. Everyone.

Steffy: She doesn’t deserve an ounce of sympathy or understanding. Getting close to sheila, you’re inviting chaos into your life.

Brooke: If deacon didn’t see it before, he has to realize it now.

Hope: Yes, but I’m still just stuck on the motive. If she is responsible for tom and hollis’s deaths, why?

Steffy: Well, finn is at the hospital with li right now, and li is overseeing hollis’s autopsy.

Brooke: Good, she’ll make sure the truth comes out.

Steffy: Sheila killed those men. There is no doubt in my mind. I don’t know how, I don’t know why. But when I figure this out, they’re gonna get justice. Her days of hurting people and endangering my family are over. This time, sheila carter’s gonna pay.

Sheila: You… you’re asking me things I can’t answer.

Deacon: I know. I’m sorry. I know you’re struggling, too.

Sheila: Oh, you can see that?

Deacon: Of course I can. I mean, you found hollis. I can still hear you screaming in my head. You know, this place was supposed to be our oasis. Feels like a plague has fallen on il giardino.

Sheila: Look, it’s sad what happened to tom and hollis, but their two deaths could be completely unrelated.

Deacon: They both happened here.

Sheila: That’s because this is where they spent their time. It is possible that… these were just two tragic accidents.

Deacon: We’ll know soon enough.

Sheila: What? What do you mean, deacon?

Deacon: Look, I don’t know if it’s because I was talking to that idiot reporter or the general ominous feeling around here now, but my mind is starting to go to some very dark places. I’m starting to think that maybe tom and hollis’s death… was anything but an accident.

Li: I am certain sheila carter targeted those two innocent men. Penelope seems pretty sure of that herself. What about you, finn?

Finn: I’m not conducting the investigation, mom.

Li: But you do care about the case?

Finn: Yeah, for a lot of reasons, and I meant it. It would be irresponsible and short-sighted to ignore sheila’s history.

Li: You don’t have to be diplomatic with me. Not about her.

Finn: Okay, is it possible that she was involved? Yeah, that is a valid question.

Li: They both died from the same drug.

Finn: Which is worth looking into.

Li: That’s exactly what I’m going to do right now.

Finn: What?

Li: I’m going over there.

Finn: What, to the– to the restaurant?

Li: Yes, I’m going to go to il giardino and confront that mad woman.

Finn: Okay, mom, you can’T… you can’t just go, there is no conclusive evidence that directly ties sheila to this.

Li: What? Except for that we know her. We know what she’s capable of.

Finn: [Sighing] Okay, then I’ll go with you.

Li: No. Absolutely not. How many times do I have to tell you, you cannot go anywhere near sheila. [Scoffs ]I won’t let you undermine your marriage, okay? Endanger your family. You promised steffy that you would stay far away from that woman. I can do this alone.

[Knocking on door]

[Distant hospital pa chatter]

Steffy: They said I could find you here.

Finn: Hey, what’re… what’re you… hey…

Steffy: Is it– is it done? Is the autopsy finished?

Li: Yes.

Steffy: So, what– what happened? How did hollis die?

Li: Just like tom starr. Hollis was murdered by sheila.

Deacon: Hope, you know how much I love you. You and the kids. You– you mean the world to me. But so does sheila. I asked sheila to marry me.

Ridge: Everyone warned deacon to cut ties with sheila.

Steffy: Getting close to sheila, you’re inviting chaos into your life.

Hope: If she is responsible for tom and hollis’s deaths, why?

Steffy: There is no doubt in my mind– sheila killed those men.

[Echoing] …Killed those men.

Brooke: How are you doing, sweetheart?

Hope: I, uh… I’m just worried about dad. The restaurant. It’s heartbreaking, what happened to hollis. He was so young.

Brooke: It is. It’s hard to believe.

Hope: And to die like that? All alone. The fact that they didn’t find the body until the next day, it’s horrible. Like, I just want to understand why this happened.

Ridge: That’s funny, you wanna know why this happened? You know why this happened. We all know why it happened. Your father led sheila into his life. That’s what happened. That’s it.

Hope: Steffy believes that once we have the autopsy results, we will get the whole picture. But what if we don’t? I mean, what if it just raises more questions than we already have? I– you know my dad. He’s going to want solid, concrete proof before he’s even capable of believing that sheila had anything to do with it.

Ridge: Well, you know what I think? I think he’s not going to believe whatever’s in the autopsy report anyway.

Hope: Well, great. What’s that gonna do for our relationship?

[Sighing] What am I saying? No, that’s not the point. That is not important right now. Hollis is dead. His family is never going to get to see him again.

Ridge: And that’s awful. But all we can do right now is make sure it doesn’t happen again. Steffy’s right. This is sheila. This is all about sheila.

Sheila: What are you saying?

Deacon: I’m saying that this doesn’t add up. It just feels wrong.

Sheila: You just lost two of your friends. No, no, no.

Deacon: No-no-no, it’s not that, it’s like there’S… I don’t know, it’s like there’s something or somebody behind this. Okay, tom died of an overdose. And, yes, he had a history, but come on. He was clean. He was turning his life around.

Sheila: [Scoffs] That’s because you were helping him. You wanted to see him succeed.

Deacon: Yes, and if tom had died and that was it, I would be sad enough. But then you come downstairs and you find hollis dead.

Sheila: I get it. You can’t believe that these were just tragic accidents. I mean, your friends are gone, and you don’t want their deaths to be meaningless or random. First tom and then hollis. It is upsetting and tragic. But it’s not murder.

Steffy: Murder?

Li: [Sighing] This is sheila we’re talking about.

Steffy: You’re saying that the autopsy pointed to sheila?

Finn: Well, that’s– that’s my mother’s interpretation.

Li: Which you agree is possible.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: Wait, how– how did hollis die?

Finn: Well, he and tom died the same way.

Steffy: Drug overdose?

Li: That’s not all.

Finn: The details of the report show that hollis’s death is suspicious. And I don’t want to jump to any conclusions, but I can’t deny that the report is concerning. But similarities between these cases wouldn’t be unexpected. I mean, tom and hollis, they were acquainted. They worked in the same place, and they probably socialized with the same people, but…

Steffy: But what?

Finn: Not only did hollis overdose, he died of the same drug that killed tom.

Steffy: The same drug?

Li: Yes.

Steffy: Sheila. Tom and hollis, they didn’t die by accident. There are no accidents when sheila is around. You’re telling me these two guys dropped dead at a place where Sheila works and lives? I mean, come on. You told me that Deacon and Hollis, when they heard that Tom died, and that he was using drugs, that they were shocked. And Hollis, he was even offended … now he dies the exact same way?

Frinn: No, it’s strange.

Li: Sinister.

Steffy: Oh, it’s awful.  Sheila did this. Sheila killed Tom and Hollis. Oh, my God.  I don’t know how, or why, but one thing is certain. This time, Sheila will pay for her crimes.

Finn: Now the kids are gone for the day. Why don’t we take this back to the bedroom?

Steffy: You read my mind.

Finn: Yeah?

Steffy: Yeah.

[Laughter]

[Phone chiming]

Steffy: No.

Finn: [Laughing] I’m on call.

Steffy: Oh, no.

Finn: It could be the hospital. Could be the hospital. Hold on a second.

Steffy: Fine.

Finn: Okay. It’s just my mom. She said hollis from il giardino died.

Steffy: What?

Brooke: What?

Ridge: Nothing, I just like you in the office more. Gives us a chance to collaborate.

Brooke: Yeah, I like all this attention.

Ridge: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: I think we should collaborate more on this special project.

Ridge: [Laughing]

Hope: Can I interrupt?

Ridge: Hey.

Brooke: What is it, sweetie?

Hope: It’s hollis.

Ridge: Hollis, from your dad’s restaurant?

Brooke: What about him?

Hope: He passed away.

Sheila: Hey.

Deacon: I… just can’T… I can’t believe he’s gone.

Sheila: I know. I’m never gonna get that image out of my mind, I… just seeing hollis laying there on the floor.

Deacon: You’re in shock. I guess I was, too. I’M… babe, I’m sorry you had to find him like that.

Sheila: It was horrible.

Deacon: Yeah. So sudden. Just like tom. Now they’re both gone.

Bill: Mmm.

Poppy: [Chuckling]

Bill: This is nice.

Poppy: Hmm.

Bill: We didn’t get much time together over the weekend.

Poppy: Well, there’s just, you know, a lot happening, and luna and I are still getting settled in.

Bill: You’re happy, though, right?

Poppy: Yes, bill. Of course I’m happy. This is the happiest I’ve ever been.

Bill: Good, because you seem a bit, um, I don’t know, preoccupied lately. And you got in late the other night, which is totally fine, of course, but you would tell me if there was something going on, wouldn’t you?

Brooke: Hollis is dead?

Hope: Yes.

Brooke: Oh, my god.

Ridge: Are you sure about this?

Hope: Yeah, I just found out.

Brooke: Oh, that’s horrible.

Hope: I feel awful for him and his family.

Ridge: What happened? Are there any details?

Deacon: You know, hollis helped me build this business. Trusted that guy with my life. And I just, um… I don’t know, I– I just can’t imagine running this place without him.

Sheila: You were good to him, deacon. And you were a kind friend, a wonderful boss.

Deacon: He was the best. I mean, that guy was just… the hardest-working, most loyal employee. Then he’S… he’s suddenly gone. What the hell happened?

Finn: I’m gonna find out what’s going on.

Steffy: Yeah.

Finn: Hey, mom. Hey, I got you here with– with steffy on speaker. What-what happened with hollis? What’s-what’s going on?

Li: We still don’t know what caused it, but we’re running labs, including a toxicology test.

Finn: You’re… you’re at the hospital now?

Li: In the morgue.

Finn: Okay, I’ll be right over.

Bill: You seem like you’re carrying a weight on your shoulders, like you’re stressed out, troubled by something.

Poppy: Um, oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize I was coming across that way.

Bill: I hope you’re not having doubts about us. Because we’re together now, a family. And I will always take care of you and luna.

Luna: Mom?

Poppy: Honey, what is it?

Luna: My friend hollis. He’s gone. I’m never gonna see him again. It’s very unusual.

Finn: Well, I wonder

Finn: And here we thought we were gonna have a quiet morning.

Steffy: This is so heartbreaking about hollis. This isn’t gonna sink in.

Finn: Well, I wonder what the autopsy will show.

Steffy: Oh, gosh. I don’t want my brain to just go wild right now, especially if there was some kind of foul play. I mean, it happened at il giardino, finn.

Finn: Well, look, we’re gonna find out some more soon.

Steffy: It’s just so rare for a guy who was so young to just die unexpectedly.

Finn: Yeah, it’s, um… it’s very unusual.

Steffy: Well, if you learn anything, just get back to me, okay?

Finn: Yeah, I’ll keep you posted. I love you.

Steffy: I love you.

Hope: I’m still waiting on more details.

Ridge: More details? We have no details. Did your dad not say anything?

Hope: Well, no, he’s going through a lot right now, and I didn’t want to bombard him with a million questions.

Brooke: It’s just frightening to think how quickly things can change.

Ridge: There you go. Can’t take even a minute for granted.

Brooke: Glad I got to know him, even if it was that small little date.

Ridge: Yeah, just one dinner. But I’m sure you made an impression. How can you not?

Brooke: He was sweet. He was really a nice guy. He was very polite. He was very respectful. He didn’t deserve to die.

Finn: This just doesn’t make any sense. Hollis was fine, and then he just… just keels over.

Sheila: Hey, I know that this is hard to accept.

Finn: I mean, did I miss something? You know, were there… clues pointing to this? I mean, I know we’ve been slammed and everything, you know, with tom, but…

Sheila: Deacon, none of this is your fault.

Finn: None of it’s my fault– I’m the boss, sheila. I run this place. I should be more in touch with my crew. I mean… I should be the guy that they feel like they can come to with any issues. And hollis was… I mean, he was fun, right? But he wasn’t a partier. The guy ate clean. He worked out all the time. I wasn’t aware of any health issues he had. Did you… did you notice anything off about him?

Sheila: No. Just a mystery.

Finn: Two of my employees have died on me recently, and I have no idea what the hell happened.

Luna: I was just with hollis the other night. I mean, we were laughing and joking around.

Bill: Come here. Sorry about your friend.

Luna: It’s just… it’s just not fair. I mean, hollis had his whole life ahead of him, and there was still so much that he wanted to do.

Poppy: I know it’s hard, sweetheart, but your dad and i are here for you, okay?

Bill: Of course we are. Always.

Poppy: And hollis would not want you to be upset.

Bill: I hate to say it, but we might want to stay away from il giardino for a while. They’re having a hell of a run of bad luck.

Finn: Have you spoken with pathology?

Li: Yes. Just waiting for the toxicology report.

Finn: This is just– this is too surreal.

Li: Not fun when you know the deceased personally.

Finn: But he was an active guy with no known medical condition.

Li: Yeah, well, if we learn anything as physicians…

Finn: It’s to never make assumptions, I get that, mom. But you have to admit, I mean, this is an extraordinary case.

Li: Yeah, very shocking.

Finn: You were cheated, hollis, your life was cut way too short.

Li: Goodbye, hollis. I’m sorry for what happened to you. You can feel it,

Hope: Hollis was a big part of my father’s life, and not just in terms of managing the restaurant, but also because he was a positive influence on him. I think he grounded my dad.

Brooke: Deacon was lucky to have him.

Hope: He was always supportive, he was a good friend, and he was part of his accomplishments.

Ridge: I’m so sorry for interrupting you guys. Can we please talk about the giant elephant in the room? Two people died at your dad’s restaurant in just a few weeks.

Steffy: You talking about hollis? Something is up. It’s like first that guy dies, and now hollis at il giardino? There’s no way that this is a coincidence.

Deacon: This just doesn’t make any sense. First tom, then hollis. I wonder who’s next.

Poppy: Okay, well, your aunt li is overseeing the postmortem exam.

Luna: Stop, I don’t wanna hear that. I don’t wanna think about hollis that way.

Poppy: Oh, I’m sorry, baby, but your aunt texted me, and I thought that it would bring you comfort to know that she and finn are with him right now.

Luna: No, this is not normal. None of this is normal. For so many people to be dying in the same place.

Poppy: I know, it’s horrible.

Bill: Um… look… it’s important to let your feelings out, but it’s also important to try and keep some perspective. I mean, these losses are tragic, but maybe we could honor them by being grateful for what we have. Our health, our safety, and… and the love that we have for each other.

Poppy: And it’s important that we count our blessings. And our biggest blessing is you, bill. I adore you. I adore my life here with you and our beautiful daughter. Watching you embrace being luna’s father, accepting us into the spencer family, and welcoming us into this incredible home. It’s a dream come true.

Bill: For me, too.

Poppy: Um… I’m sorry, but, uh… I have to run. Um, there’s some place that I need to be.

Li: Except for minor contusions.

Finn: Well, that was likely caused by hollis collapsing to the ground.

Li: Nothing stands out. Body shows no abnormal signs of trauma.

[Phone chime]

Finn: Yeah, well, I suspect the tox screen will answer a lot of the questions.

Li: Hm, yeah, should be ready soon.

Finn: Until then, the manner of death remains undetermined.

[Phone chime] Hey, you, uh… that’s like the third time your phone went off. You wanna get that?

Li: Nope.

Finn: Are you sure? It sounds important.

Li: Yeah, it’s just your father. He keeps calling and texting me.

Finn: Wait, dad? Why? What does he want?

April: Doctor finnegan.

Both: Yeah.

April: Sorry, finn. Better luck next time. The lab results you requested.

Li: Thanks, april.

April: Sure thing.

Finn: Toxicology report.

Li: Mm-hm. What’s it say?

Scout is protected by

simparica trio

Steffy: Finn is with li at at the hospital. Li is overseeing hollis’s autopsy.

Hope: So, do you know what happened?

Steffy: I was gonna ask you the same thing.

Brooke: We have no idea.

Ridge: We’re in the dark.

Steffy: This is your father’s restaurant, I thought you’d know something.

Hope: All I know is that hollis has passed away. I don’t know of anyone else who’s gotten hurt.

Steffy: Gotten hurt? So someone did this to him?

Brooke: Not that we’re aware of.

Ridge: It’s very unsettling, all of it.

Hope: I know. Hollis was such a positive man. He was so full of life. Now…

Brooke: We don’t know how something like this could have happened.

Steffy: I have my suspicions.

Hope: What are you implying?

Steffy: Multiple deaths at il giardino. Only one person comes to mind. Sheila.

Sheila: I– I hate seeing you like this. I know it’s weighing heavy on you.

Deacon: You know, hollis was, um… was like a brother to me, brother I never had. And the guy made this place feel like a home. You know, he charmed all the customers, especially the ladies.

[Chuckling] Made strangers feel welcome so they’d want to come back.

Sheila: Well, clearly, the two of you were close, and he loved working here with you.

Deacon: I just– I can’t help but think that… that I’m partially responsible.

Sheila: You? Why?

Deacon: I mean, there should have been signs, right? Was he sick? Was he in trouble? I don’t know.

Sheila: Honey, there is no way to tell what is happening to someone behind closed doors.

Deacon: I know, but if you– if you looked at hollis, I mean, you know, he didn’t seem like he had a care in the world, you know, buzzing around here the way that he did. Tom… he’s such a sweet guy. He helped me save your life. He said he was sober. He– he said he was turning his life around. I mean, how could I be so clueless?

Sheila: Deacon… there’s nothing that you could have done to change any of this. Whatever was going to happen to hollis, it was going to happen anyway.

Deacon: I haven’t had too many friends in my life. Tom and hollis were my friends. I miss them.

Sheila: I know you do. I’m really sorry for your loss.

Bill: How are you feeling?

Luna: I’m really, really sad.

Bill: I know. It’s gonna take some time to heal. We’ll get through it together.

Bill: Any idea where your mom ran off to?

Finn: What does it say?

[Knocking on door]

Poppy: Li? Finn?

Li: Penelope, what are you doing here? I said I’d text–

Poppy: Yeah, I know, I know. But, um… luna is beside herself over the loss of her friend.

Finn: Yeah, we’re all in a state of disbelief.

Poppy: Okay, I am sure, but as a mother, I’m feeling kind of powerless here, so I thought it wouldn’t hurt if I just stopped by and maybe try to get her some answers. Um… do we know how hollis died?

Li: Hollis didn’t die of natural causes.

Poppy: Oh, he didn’t?

Li: No. Finn and I just received the toxicology report. Hollis was drugged. Drugged, poppy. And I know exactly who did it.

Sally: So, these are the looks that we talked about for the winter line. That’s the outerwear.

Summer: Mm.

Sally: Mm-hmm?

Summer: Okay.

Sally: You can see, I shortened the coat a little bit. And this is the formal piece. Chelsea really nailed the silhouette.

Summer: Yeah. Mm.

Sally: And we– we tweaked the collar just a little bit. And– and Chloe also mentioned that in addition to the black, we should do this in a midnight blue.

Summer: Sure. Sure.

Sally: You don’t seem really happy with these looks.

Summer: Ugh. I’m sorry. I… I’m not really happy. But it has nothing to do with these designs. Usually, a winter collection has a heaviness about it, but there’s a lightness here. It’s really smart, and unique.

Sally: Oh, good, because that’s exactly what I was going for.

Summer: Honestly, Sally, it’s really great.

Sally: Is everything all right? What’s going on?

Summer: Um, you know what? Can we just keep focused on work? I actually kind of need the distraction.

Sally: Yeah. I mean, you’re the boss. And I– I can make any changes that you want me to make to these.

Summer: I appreciate you bending over backwards to play nice.

Sally: I mean, it’s kind of easy to do when you like what I’ve done. I– Part of me was ready to fight to the death if you were going to try and kill any of these designs, even though it’s Chelsea’s vision for the brand.

Summer: Hey, you didn’t just execute Chelsea’s vision. I mean, what you added made these looks better. Honestly, Sally, I’m– I’m still kind of surprised at how well this is working out. You know, when Chelsea came to me and she wanted to take a step back to focus on Connor, I really didn’t have many choices. Hiring you was kind of an act of desperation on my part.

Sally: Yeah, I mean, I– I know we have a history and I had to prove myself.

Summer: Well, you have. And now that this winter collection is back on schedule, I think it’s time that we make some changes.

Chelsea: Okay, well, Connor, we know you have to go, but we’ll talk soon, all right?

Adam: All right, keep up the good work, buddy. We love you.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Chelsea: Did that really just happen?

Adam: It’s hard to believe after everything he’s been through, but our son might actually be getting better.

Chelsea: I mean, we’re not supposed to get our hopes up, you know, after every phone call. The doctors keep saying, we can’t expect too much.

Adam: Hey, not today, though. Dr. Hammond said this really is a breakthrough in the treatment of his OCD.

Chelsea: I mean, he was so direct. He was so articulate about his condition, about his treatment. It’s like he– it’s like he’s finally understanding what’s really happening to him.

Adam: And– and he’s not hurting himself again. And now he thinks if he has those feelings again, he has tools to stop that from happening. He’s gonna beat this, Chelsea. I know he is.

Chelsea: Oh, my God, I hope you’re right. I mean, even if he has to live with this for the rest of his life, for the first time since his diagnosis, I can see what that life may look like.

Adam: Yeah. And the hopes and dreams that we had for our son.

Chelsea: Yeah. We– we can dare to have ’em again. Oh, my gosh.

Adam: Oh. Mm.

[ Adam sighing ] Uh, sorry.

Chelsea: No, I’m– I’m sorry. I– I initiated that hug. That was…

Adam: No, look, I… I took your hand when we were on the call–

Chelsea: No, that’s big, but we– we had gotten good news, so…

Adam: Well, yeah, we– I mean, we got really good news. So, we don’t have anything to feel badly about.

Chelsea: No, we’re–

Adam: Well, not anything that we did today.

Chelsea: We’re allowed to feel good, Adam.

Adam: Yeah, anything to spite guilt and pain.

Chelsea: This isn’t about us. You know? This is about our son.

Adam: Well, I have been the biggest pessimist about his condition. And I believe he’s gonna get better, so you should, too.

Chelsea: I do. So, I should, um… I’m gonna go find Billy.

Adam: Chelsea. Look, we’ve been there for each other because it’s what Connor needed.

Chelsea: I know, Adam. And I know Connor still needs that from us. But what happened between us in that hotel room–

[ knocking on door ]

Adam: Dad, what are you doing here?

Victor: I hope I’m not interrupting.

Victor: Thank you. Hello, Chelsea.

Chelsea: Hello, Victor.

Victor: Everything all right?

Adam: Um, we just got off a call with Connor.

Victor: Oh. How’s my grandson?

Adam: He’s getting better.

Chelsea: Yeah. Yeah, the doctors think he’s making some real progress.

Victor: Happy to hear that. Will he be home soon?

Adam: Well, he’s taken a big step, but he’s still got a long way to go.

Victor: Any way I can help?

Chelsea: Oh, that’s so nice. Uh, not really. I wanted to thank you, though, for letting us borrow the jet for our visits to Baltimore.

Victor: I’m very glad to do it. Anytime, all right? Must have been tough for both of you, to have him so far away.

Chelsea: Yeah.

Adam: Yeah.

Chelsea: But things are really looking up now.

Victor: Good. Chelsea, if you don’t mind, I’d like a word alone with Adam.

Chelsea: No problem. I was on my way out. I have a meeting with Summer.

Victor: All right.

Adam: Oh, you’re already back to work?

Chelsea: Well, she wanted to meet with me. She didn’t say why. It’s probably something I have to fix with the winter line.

Adam: Mm.

Chelsea: Adam, what happened today with Connor, it really puts things in perspective. I’m starting to feel like maybe things will be okay.

Adam: They will be.

Chelsea: All right. We’ll talk later. Bye, Victor.

Victor: Bye, Chelsea.

Adam: So, what brings you by?

Victor: You know why I’m here.

Adam: You want to know if I’m going to take you up on your offer to head up Newman Media?

Victor: Yeah. Can I count on you?

Sally: I’m confused. I thought we just established that you were happy with the work that I was doing.

Summer: I am.

Sally: Okay. Well, I mean, if this is about Chloe, she was a huge part of these designs, and really the only reason that we could stay under budget.

Summer: That’s great. Thank her for me. I am learning to appreciate someone’s passion, even if I don’t always appreciate their personality.

Sally: Well, Chloe has been on her best behavior. And so have I.

Summer: No, I’ve noticed. I haven’t felt any attempts at sabotage. I haven’t received any offers from fashion houses in Paris or Milan.

Sally: Yeah, well, I’m really glad that we can joke about that now. But it is kind of ironic that my scheme to get you out of a job here in Genoa City…

Summer: Has brought us to the point where you’re now working for me at Marchetti?

Sally: Yes, and now we’re…

Summer: Finishing each other’s sentences?

[ both laughing ]

Sally: Yeah.

Summer: I– I don’t think that we’ll ever be best friends.

Sally: Eh– understandable. I am just thankful and grateful to be a part of your team.

Summer: How would you feel about leading a team of your own?

Sally: I’m listening.

Summer: Okay, good. ‘Cause I thought that we could discuss this–

Chelsea: Hi. Sorry, I thought this meeting was just going to be with Summer. Sally, you didn’t mention you would be here when I saw you today at lunch.

Sally: I didn’t realize you were going to be a part of it.

Summer: No, I wanted you both here, so that we could all discuss this idea that I have for a more permanent position for Sally at Marchetti.

Chelsea: Are you firing me and giving my job to Sally?

Nate: Don’t you want to come up for air for just a minute?

Audra: Uh…

Nate: First day at Glissade, and she’s still at it. You know that work will keep until tomorrow, right?

Audra: Yeah, it’s already tomorrow in Paris.

Nate: The sun never sets on the Audra Charles Empire, huh?

Audra: Something like that.

Nate: So I shouldn’t take it personally that you barely looked at me since I sat down.

Audra: Look, I’m just trying to prove you wrong.

Nate: About?

Audra: Me.

Nate: How was I wrong about you?

Audra: It’s clear you think I’m not up to the challenge of running a multinational cosmetics startup.

Nate: Hang on. I never said that.

Audra: You said my new venture might be more trouble than I can handle.

Nate: If it was just you, world, look out. You know my main concern is you having to watch your back because of Kyle Abbott and this mysterious investor of yours.

Audra: And you also brought up the threat of Tucker crawling from beneath whatever rock he took refuge under.

Nate: Well, Tucker definitely didn’t crawl under that rock. You dropped it on him.

Audra: Which proves I can handle things just fine.

Nate: No doubt. I’m just looking out for a friend.

Audra: And I’m glad you’re looking out for me. But do you have to be so literal about it? Are you seriously going to sit there and watch me work?

Nate: No, I am not. Please, come with me.

Summer: I have no intention of replacing you with Sally. I am very committed to you and your vision.

Sally: So am I.

Chelsea: So, then what did I miss here? I mean, Marchetti isn’t big enough for two creative directors.

Summer: Actually, I have been thinking about expanding the brand. And I heard that you were in town, and I wanted to discuss it with you.

Chelsea: Oh. Okay, I’m intrigued.

Summer: So, basically we have the market cornered in classic and upscale, right? And I’ve been thinking about creating a new line at Marchetti that’s trendier. For a younger demographic. We could call it Marchetti Z. Target that generation.

Sally: That’s a great idea.

Summer: You think so? Because actually, I was considering making you the lead designer.

Sally: Seriously? I mean, I’d be thrilled.

Chelsea: I love this idea.

Sally: Do you? Because I know after this opportunity you gave me to help you with your winter line, I just wouldn’t want to take anything away from you.

Chelsea: No, I’m sorry if I acted territorial before. I– It’s just, I– You know, I needed to step away, but this job does mean a lot to me.

Summer: And look, I completely relate to that. Sometimes work is the only place that you feel like you have any control.

Sally: And given everything that you’ve been through with Connor, I do not want to in any way threaten that.

Chelsea: Listen, I’m the one who pitched you to cover for me. So, you don’t have to sell me on this. I think it is a win-win, for Marchetti and for Sally.

Summer: So? What do you say?

Sally: Uh… okay. Well, uh, I’m just going to skip over the part where I attempt false modesty, and just say, the truth is, I– I think it’s a great concept, and I think I would absolutely crush it.

Summer: All right. Well, I’m glad we don’t have to waste any time building up your confidence. Look, we definitely need to discuss this further, but, um… first, I would really love to hear how Connor’s doing.

Sally: Yeah, yeah, me– me too. I– I know that he was released from inpatient, but I haven’t had a chance to talk with Adam about how your video call went.

Chelsea: Well, uh, I don’t want to get too excited, but it seems that Connor’s turned a corner. He seems to be getting better. When this all first started, you know, we didn’t see that he was sick. We didn’t see the disease. And then once we did realize it, and he was getting help, it was hard to look at our son and not see the OCD, and not feel this intense guilt, thinking we might have caused it.

Summer: Wow.

Chelsea: Yeah, but now, um, after this video chat, I saw my son again. My– my son, you know, and he– and he’s really– He’s fighting this thing with everything he’s got.

Summer: That is so great. I’m– I’m so happy for you, and for Connor and Adam.

Sally: Adam must be thrilled.

Chelsea: Uh, yeah, you know, we’re just trying to keep our feet on the ground. Um, here can be setbacks along the way, uh, but the doctors feel like this is a great first step, so.

Summer: Well, it seems like you and Adam are really in sync with the whole co-parenting thing. That’s amazing. Not everyone’s that lucky.

Chelsea: Mm. Yeah, no, I don’t know. Um, Adam and I don’t really always bring out the best in each other, so…

Sally: Uh, well, that’s not really what I’ve been seeing. I mean, Adam has been an emotional wreck, and I do what I can to understand and be there for him, but I’m really grateful that Adam has you to lean on too.

Adam: Dad, I’m not going to waste my breath trying to convince you of a parent’s need to put their kids first. I know Victoria tried to get you to understand why she wanted to focus on Claire and Johnny and Katie, and that argument fell on deaf ears.

Victor: Victoria will come around in time. She realizes her proper place is at Newman Enterprises, alongside her brother, Nicholas.

Adam: And here, I thought that was my place.

Victor: Your place, really.

Adam: Mm-hmm. Um… Nick and I are getting along just fine at work. I mean, unless he’s told you different.

Victor: Mm-mm, he hasn’t.

Adam: I’ll admit, I do need a distraction from my personal drama, so I am intrigued by your offer. But I’ll be damned if I’m going to get dragged into one of your wars without knowing who it is we’re fighting.

Victor: No reason to know who that is.

Adam: You want me on the front lines, I’m going to need a name.

Victor: All right. If that is what it takes, I will let you know who it is that I’m targeting.

Audra: Why are we here?

Nate: To watch the sunset on your first day as head of Glissade.

[ Audra sighing ]

Audra: Yeah, it’s been quite a day.

Nate: Is that why all the sighs?

Audra: No, today started with the high of the posting of that article that built me up, all about how I’m living the dream. And then, people started coming at me with all sorts of real-world problems.

Nate: Such as?

Audra: Did you know the price of glass went up 30% last year? Which means those little bottles we put nail polish in either have to get smaller or the price we charge to the consumer has to get bigger.

Nate: Ah. That is a real-world problem.

Audra: Yeah. Then, there’s the supply chain issues, as they relate to a certain shade of pink pigment for any lipstick line. Oh, and the fight to keep cheap knock-offs of our fragrances from getting to market. But I won’t bore you with any of the details. Wait, I just did, didn’t I?

Nate: Audra, you’re a lot of things, okay? But you can never be boring.

[ Audra sighing ]

Audra: Yeah, I’ve dealt with stress before, but this, this is just the next level.

Nate: Hm.

Audra: And you keeping me from work isn’t helping.

Nate: Maybe this will.

Audra: Well, if this is coffee in any form, it might.

Nate: No, it is not. This is oolong tea.

Audra: Oh, no thanks.

Nate: Uh-uh, hear me out. Look, this tea is filled with amino acids that improve brain function. It also helps with sleep, reduces stress, and anxiety.

Audra: Hm. It also tastes like wet socks.

Nate: It will grow on you.

Audra: You say it like it’s a good thing.

Nate: Listen, when I was in med school and then doing my residency, I was a coffee addict. Some of my friends literally shot that stuff into their veins.

Audra: Oh, so you’re saying you can hook me up with an IV?

Nate: No joke, people did that too. But, uh, for me, I– I couldn’t keep up. It got to the point where if I didn’t have a cup of something strong in my hands, they would shake.

Audra: Yep.

Nate: And no one wants a doctor with shaky hands standing over them with a scalpel.

Audra: Oh, no.

Nate: So, I switched to tea. It evened me out. I got better sleep, had more focus, and I got through.

Audra: Hm. So, this is what the doctor ordered?

Nate: That, and a few deep breaths. You need to take a moment and just be.

Audra: Yeah, no, I don’t do that. Deep breathing and meditation, the “ohming” and the unplugging of chakras, that was Tucker’s thing, and I don’t want to be reminded of it.

Nate: Tucker knows nothing about being in the moment. You need to get out of your head and listen to your body. It’s telling you everything you need.

Audra: And what I need is a triple shot of espresso, and to get back to my tablet.

Nate: Audra, those sighs earlier, a sigh is just a short breath. It’s a release and a reconnection.

Audra: Do you really believe all that? Or is it just some pitch you worked up to impress the women in your yoga class?

Nate: Do you think everyone has an angle?

Audra: Hey, I’m all about angles, but I just like it when people are up front about it.

Nate: This isn’t some play to be with you, Audra. It’s an apology. I’m sorry if I made you think I wasn’t a true believer. This Glissade thing? You got this.

Audra: Thank you for saying that.

Nate: And this, what we’re doing right here, right now. It isn’t a seduction in any way, shape, or form. I like having you as a friend, Audra. I know we talked a lot about you needing one right now, but what I haven’t said is I’m in a place and time in my life where I need one, too. So, how about we, um, sit here for a little while longer?

Audra: I think I can do that.

Chelsea: Wow, Sally, this is such great work.

Sally: It’s just working with what you gave me.

Summer: Oh, hey, I thought we weren’t doing false modesty here.

Chelsea: The way you solved the closure problem on that skirt? It’s genius.

Sally: Thank you.

Summer: Guys, I am loving this collaborative spirit we have going on here. I have been wanting to create this kind of atmosphere at Marchetti.

[ phone dinging ] Oh, it’s my realtor. I am looking for a new house for me and Harrison.

Chelsea: Oh, I take it that means you and Kyle still aren’t on the same page?

Summer: Um, Kyle and I aren’t even in the same book anymore. Uh, Sally, thank you so much for all of your hard work.

Sally: Yeah, thank you again for this opportunity.

Summer: And Chelsea, just know you have a place here whenever you’re ready to come back. Bye, you guys.

Chelsea/Sally: Bye.

Chelsea: Uh, well, I’m so glad that all worked out.

Sally: Uh, do you have to leave? I think there’s something we need to talk about.

Victor: Now, son, very few people are privy to this, but I’ve taken steps to acquire Glissade, a cosmetics company.

Adam: Oh, I wish I could have seen the look on McCall’s face when he found that out.

Victor: You may still have a chance, you know. Just know that the financing of it was anonymous, and I want to keep it that way, for now.

Adam: Yeah. I heard that, uh, Audra Charles and Kyle Abbott were handpicked to run Glissade. That’s an interesting pairing. But what’s the connection between Glissade and Newman Media? It sounds like you’ve already cut Tucker off at the knees.

Victor: He’s not the target. I just want Newman Media to create a massive buzz about Glissade.

Adam: Well, that’s easy enough.

Victor: All right. And at the same time, I want you to go after the competition.

Adam: That’s it?

Victor: Yeah, that’s it.

Adam: What is it that you’re not telling me?

Nate: Look, I– I don’t want to keep you from your work, Audra. I just want you to remember why you’re so excited about it in the first place.

Audra: I am excited about running Glissade. And it’s not just about the money, or power. Though, unlike most people, I’m not afraid to admit I want both those things.

Nate: What else is it about? Showing Tucker he was wrong to underestimate you? That he was the only thing holding you back?

Audra: Yeah, I fell into that trap before, trying to get a man’s approval. But now I know I don’t need that. And I want to bring that lesson I learned to Glissade.

Nate: How so?

Audra: I know I have a partner and an investor, so I won’t have total control, but I’m the one who buys and uses makeup. Tucker, or Kyle, or any man can read a marketing report. They can hold focus groups. They can talk about margins and profit and loss, but I’m the one who knows what it means to look into a mirror and… And see myself for what I really am. Not how a man wants me to be. Life can get real ugly sometimes. And I know what it means to need to feel beautiful in those moments. You know, Glissade needs to be not about being beautiful for a man, but about women being beautiful for themselves.

Chelsea: Can it wait? Uh, I’m sure it’s something you want to discuss about the winter line, and you didn’t want to bother Summer with it.

Sally: Well, I just think we need to clear the air.

Chelsea: You know, if– if you’re worried about stepping on my toes at Marchetti–

Sally: Well, yeah, it’s that, but it’s also about Adam, too.

Chelsea: Um, what about Adam?

Sally: Well, I am trying to be more open and honest with my feelings. It’s not something I’ve been great at in my past. But listening to you and Adam talk about Connor, and seeing how you two are there for each other, it’s made me want to step up my game.

Chelsea: Well, you have been there for Adam. He tells me all the time how wonderful you are.

Sally: Well, thank you, but I want to be wonderful for Adam. You know, I mean, I’ve never been involved with a man who’s going through what you and Adam are going through.

Chelsea: Yeah, I don’t know. I think maybe you should– maybe you should just tell Adam all this.

Sally: No, I will, but I also want to tell you.

Chelsea: Okay.

[ Sally sighing ]

Sally: When Summer asked me to stay on more permanently at Marchetti, I also thought that she was going to ask me to take your place and I just want you to know that I would never do that.

Chelsea: I appreciate that.

Sally: I mean, I came here not only driven by ambition and the need for a job so I can pay my bills, but to support you. And that was clear to me from the very beginning. But what wasn’t clear to me was how I can support you and Adam without feeling threatened. You have done nothing at all to make me feel that way.

Chelsea: Sally, you have supported me and Adam. Honestly, you’ve been amazing, and I really want to thank you for that.

Sally: No, Chelsea, I should be thanking you. Seriously, you did not have to take Adam’s suggestion to pitch me to Summer, and with everything that you have going on with Connor right now, I’m the last person that you should be thinking about, so I owe you, Chelsea.

Chelsea: No, Sally, you really don’t.

Adam: I get why you want to pump up Glissade now that we own it, and why you want to give bad press to our competitors to gain market share.

Victor: Do you have a plan how to do that?

Adam: Well, I can make it happen. And I can make it appear that we’re being fair and balanced. But that’s not what’s giving me pause.

Victor: What is?

Adam: All seems a little… What’s the word I’m looking for? Reasonable.

[ Victor chuckling ]

Victor: You know I’m very reasonable.

Adam: Come on, you could have sold this to Nikki and Victoria. Why do you need me?

Victor: Because, son, you know everything about Newman Media. You started the darn company. It’s your baby.

Adam: You’ve talked about the competition, but you still haven’t specified your enemy.

Victor: Jabot is one of the large companies in the sector.

Adam: Yeah, and Nikki would never agree to go after Jack Abbott.

Victor: Bingo.

Adam: But I respect Jack Abbott.

Victor: I don’t give a damn what your feelings are about Jack Abbott, okay? You have never hesitated in the past to go for the kill. It’s like your father. I don’t hesitate. Even if it means to hurt someone you like.

Victor: Son, you’re like me. You get that you can’t be soft to survive, can you?

Adam: Well, I’m like you in the fact that I’m not afraid to fight dirty.

Victor: So, Glissade was well positioned, so I went after it.

Adam: Come on, you are not someone that lets the chips fall where they may. You want me to use Newman Media to improve your odds.

Victor: I want you to do damage to Jabot.

Adam: Okay, well I hurt Jabot, I hurt Jack. It’s the same as Newman. If Newman took a hit, you would feel it.

Victor: I don’t give a damn about what the hell happens to Jack Abbott. Look what I’m offering you. I’m offering you autonomy to run the damn company you started as you will. And you don’t have to share any power with your brother or your sister. I’m handing the company to you. What are you going to do with it? Can I trust you?

Adam: Are you sure that you can trust Kyle and Audra?

Nate: You opening up to me like that means a lot.

Audra: Don’t go reading into it, Nate.

Nate: Oh. And the armor’s already back on. Mm-hmm.

Audra: Oh, now that’s a shade of violet I need for a new line of eyeshadow.

Nate: And she’s back to work. But I’ve already seen a little more of you than maybe you meant to show. Now, I can’t speak for what you see when you look in the mirror. And you’ve already made it clear that you aren’t interested in what any man thinks. But for the record… the more of you I see, the more beautiful you are to me.

Audra: Does that ever really work for you?

Nate: The pretty damn annoying charm?

Audra: That’s the one.

Nate: Oh. You tell me.

Audra: I think you already know the answer.

Sally: Chelsea, did your call with Connor not go as well as you said?

Chelsea: No, the call went great.

Sally: Okay, so, what is it? I mean, you can be honest with me about this awkwardness between us. >

Chelsea: Awkward? Is it awkward? I don’t think it is.

Sally: Yeah, of cour– Chelsea, of course it is. I’m doing your job.

Chelsea: No, you stepped in for me at Marchetti, and you’re doing great, and I knew you would.

Sally: Okay, then– then what is it? I mean, I… I– I– I don’t know. It– it almost seems like…

Chelsea: Like what?

Sally: Like you’re guilty?

Chelsea: No, I mean, I– I feel… Of course, I feel a little bad walking away at such a critical time. You know, when Summer needed me. But, um– But you made it so everything’s okay. And I’m really grateful to you for that.

[ Chelsea and Adam panting ]

Sally: Chelsea.

Chelsea: Sorry, I think, um, I think I’m a little jet-lagged.

[ Chelsea and Adam panting ]

Sally: You’re tearing up. Now, I know something is really wrong. Can you please just tell me what it is?

Chelsea: Sally, I…

Sally: You’re a mess. I– I– I get it. I mean, how could you not be after everything that you’ve been going through with Connor?

Chelsea: Ah, yeah, um, I just feel like everything that’s happened with my son has me on this emotional rollercoaster. And like I mentioned to you at lunch, I don’t… I don’t feel like I have control over any aspect of my life. What I say, what I do.

Sally: Yeah, I mean, I’m sure you have so much anxiety and frustration. I know that Adam does. I mean, is it selfish of me to say that I’ve been afraid of losing him over this?

Chelsea: Sally, you are not going to lose Adam. He cares about you so much.

Sally: Yeah, I– I know he does, but I mean, his heart is so broken over Connor that sometimes I just wonder if there’s even a piece left for me.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Chelsea: I’m really sorry if– if me needing Adam has come between the two of you.

Sally: No, no, no. No, no. That’s not at all what– what I’m trying to say, okay? I’m– I’m really, really glad that Adam has you. You know, when Adam and I lost our baby… it bonded us. And Connor is your baby. So, of course, you and Adam are going to get closer, because you’re his parents, and I really hope that you guys are always there for each other. I mean, I’m sure that you can help Adam out in ways that I can’t even imagine. Billy and I–

Chelsea: You know what? I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry, Sally. I can’t talk about this right now. Um… Just know Adam loves you and you just have to stand by him. No matter what, okay? I’m really sorry. I have to go.

[ Sally scoffing ]

Victor: Now, Audra is very ambitious and savvy. She demonstrated that again when she turned Tucker’s board against him.

Adam: So, she stabbed someone in the back who trusts her? Yeah, that’s not very reassuring, Dad. Who’s to say we won’t end up the same?

Victor: You leave her to me.

Adam: And Kyle?

Victor: Well, so it happens that apparently, he had a huge falling out with his parents. Neither Jack nor Diane expressed a lot of faith in his talents. So understandably, he wants retribution. And I think we can use Newman Media to help him do that.

Adam: Hm. By crippling Jabot?

Victor: By crippling all competition. Now, that I’ve told you what’s going on, will you resume with leadership of Newman Media?

Adam: Uh… I’ll seriously consider it.

Victor: I can’t wait too long, okay? Time is of the essence.

Adam: I’ll sleep on it. I’ll let you know in the morning.

Victor: All right. Nice talking to you. I’m very happy that things are going well with Connor.

Adam: I am too.

Victor: Now, you can help your son and help your father.

[ door closing ]

Audra: I just want to be clear about something. We’re just in the moment, Nate, okay? Uh… I’m just getting out of my head and listening to my body.

Nate: I’m listening too, and I like what it’s saying.

Audra: I’m serious.

Nate: Hey, hey. I want this. Only if you want it too. If not, we stop.

Audra: I don’t want to stop. I just want to make sure we’re agreed, this is just for fun. It means nothing.

Nate: Right.

[crickets chirping]

Steffy: I said goodbye to Douglas, Paris, and Thomas. Looks like maybe you have, too.

Hope: Thomas was here earlier. And I gave him my blessing.

Finn: Mom. Hey.

Li: Oh.

Finn: Are you just gonna walk by and not say hi?

Li: I guess I just didn’t realize which floor I was on.

Finn: Are you okay?

Jack: Finn. You got a sec to talk?

[Li scoffs] Li.

Li: Not again. I swear, Jack, I’m beginning to think you’re stalking me.

Bill: I can’t tell you how much you have both changed the energy around here. I’ve been alone in this big, empty house for a very long time. And now there is laughter again. And I have a reason to come home. And that’s thanks to you two Nozawa women. Well, Nozawa-slash-Spencer. I wanna make that happen, Luna. I wanna give you my name.

Hollis: This is crazy.

Deacon: Hollis! Dude, where are you?

Jack: I’m here for our son, Li. I stop by every now and then whenever I get the chance. You may have cut off all ties with me. Thankfully, Finn has not.

Li: You’re here for Finn? Or are you actually here scouring the halls looking for pretty nurses?

Finn: Okay, can we keep this cordial, please?

Li: Yes, yes. Not a problem. I was just reminiscing.

Finn: And what’s this about? “Not again.” Have you two been seeing each other?

Li: Absolutely not. We ran into each other at Il Giardino the other day. I was just picking up take-out, that’s all.

Jack: And I was having a drink with the bartender Hollis. I was planning on staying for the live music, but the guy was terrible.

Li: You know what happened after you left, don’t you?

Jack: Songs got worse?

Li: He died.

Finn: Wait, you were at Il Giardino the night Tom died? You both were?

Poppy: Blows my mind that you wanna do this and give Luna your name.

Bill: Well, yeah. We gotta get a few years in as a– as a Spencer before R.J. asks her to become a Forrester.

Luna: Okay, slow down there.

Bill: Just saying. Just saying. Look, seriously, it is important to me that you have my name and everything that goes along with it. It’s your birthright, Luna. And I want you to have everything that you’re entitled to.

Deacon: Oh, you’re back.

Hollis: Um, well, yeah, actually, I think I have something very interesting that you want to know.

Deacon: What’s going–Great.

Hollis: Yeah, the last time this happened, the power was out for like six hours.

Deacon: Yeah, I know. Believe me, I’m paying the bills. You know what? Thank God it’s closing time. So, what do you say we, uh– What do you say we just don’t take any more customers? You know, we finish these guys off, you and I grab a beer after?

Hollis: Sounds great.

Deacon: Yeah?

Hollis: Okay. Let’s do it.

Sheila: Poor Tom.

Steffy: You gave Thomas your blessing to marry Paris?

Hope: I did.

Steffy: I’m impressed. I know you were against the idea. You thought Thomas was coming back to be with you.

Hope: Something that I wanted very much. But I have been doing some soul-searching, and I have come to realize that I needed to take a step back and figure out why I want what I want.

Poppy: Well, as much as I enjoy the three of us hanging out like this, there are some errands that I need to run.

Bill: Yeah. Unfortunately, I have to get going as well. I would ask you to come to the office with me, but we’re prepping tonight for tomorrow’s painfully boring tax code meeting, and I don’t wanna scare you away from the company.

Luna: You know, that actually sounds really exciting, but I think I’m good just staying home here. As long as you both swear that we’re gonna have many more days like this ahead.

Bill: Oh, I can easily swear that. Many more days. That’s a promise.

[piano playing soft tune]

Sheila: Hey, Hollis. Is there a problem with the power again?

Hollis: Uh, what?

Sheila: The lights. They were flickering earlier.

Hollis: Oh, right. Yeah. No. Deacon, he’s looking into that.

Sheila: Is something going on with you?

Hollis: I found something out today.

Sheila: Okay.

Hollis: And I don’t know what to think about it, but I think it’s important. And I mean really important.

Sheila: All right, Hollis. So, what do you think you found out?

Hollis: It’s about Tom and how he died.

Finn: Wait. Why am I just now hearing you were there that night?

Li: Didn’t cross my mind to mention it.

Jack: Now I feel badly I called him a terrible singer.

Li: Oh, that you feel bad about? You’ve done far worse.

[phone ringing] Oh, I have to take this. Hi, Peggy. Uh-huh. No, just adjust the meds.

Jack: Hey. Sorry for the pop in. Obviously, I didn’t realize your mom was here. She still wants nothing to do with me.

Finn: Yeah, Dad, just…

Jack: No, no. I get it. I’ll text in the future.

[Finn chuckles] Speaking of texting, before I go, I just wanna say I’m glad you’re communicating with Poppy and Luna. Family is everything. Poppy is wonderful. There’s really nothing I wouldn’t do for her. She’s a gentle soul despite what your mom says. Poppy deserves the very best in life. And I’m glad that she found out that Luna is… Spencer’s daughter.

Steffy: So, there was something driving you to back away from Thomas?

Hope: I guess. Yes. I’ve– I’ve had a lot going on, and I’ve just been doing a lot of thinking.

Steffy: Yeah. Interesting. I mean, that’s why you gave him your blessing. I think it’s good, Hope. I think it’s good for everyone. I am proud of you. I am. And I’m proud of Thomas. You managed to untangle yourselves from a relationship that was never gonna work out.

Hope: Well, I mean, that’s your opinion. And the jury is still out on Thomas and Paris. That is still a very new relationship.

Steffy: It is, but I have a good feeling about it. Yes, they rushed into an engagement, but they’re not gonna rush into a wedding. They’re taking their time solidifying their bond as a family.

Hope: Well, let’s hope so, especially for Douglas’s sake. And I meant it when I wished Thomas my best.

Steffy: So, what triggered this? I mean, something did. Or was it someone?

Li: I don’t want to talk about your father. Have you seen much of Luna lately or your Aunt Penelope?

Finn: In person, no. But I did talk to Luna, and I heard all about Bill Spencer being her father, if that’s what you’re asking. You don’t approve, do you?

Li: You know, I have my issues with my sister. The way she’s lived her life, I– She’s definitely getting what she’s always wanted. She’s incredibly lucky to be embraced by Bill and everything the Spencer name has to offer. Oh, look at the time. I have somewhere to be. Thank you for reminding me what floor I’m on.

Steffy: So, what’s this realization?

Hope: Oh, I–I don’t want to make it something bigger than it is. It’s–It’s fine. It’s just a conversation I had with my mother where she is helping me to see things a little more clearly and make sense of what’s been going on inside of me.

Steffy: Some inner turmoil?

Hope: Sure. You could say that. But I’m– I’m moving past it now, so…

Steffy: Moving past what? What are you talking about?

Hope: It’s really– It’s not important. Don’t give it another thought. It is nothing that concerns you.

Sheila: We’re all really sad about what happened to Tom, but there is nothing to figure out about his death. Hollis, we all know what happened. He fell off the wagon. He overdosed.

Hollis: Yeah. Sure. Okay, maybe. But– But I found something out, all right? And I want to show it to you, okay? So just–

Sheila: Hollis, I don’t have time for this right now.

Hollis: Seriously, just give me one second. I just wanna show you something.

[electricity buzzing]

[sighs]

Sheila: What? What is that?

Hollis: It’s Tom’s backpack.

Sheila: Why on earth would you have Tom’s backpack?

Hollis: I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how and why Tom died. I think I discovered something.

Sheila: What? What are you doing? Are you rifling through his stuff to find his drug stash?

Hollis: No, no, not at all.

Sheila: Because that’s how he died, Hollis. There’s nothing for you to wrap your head around.

Hollis: Yeah, okay, maybe, but look–

Sheila: Stop.

Hollis: I just found–

Sheila: Stop. No. It is wrong to go through his personal belongings. Besides, God, look at it. It’s–It’s filthy. This is a classy place. That is probably a health code violation. So you know what I want you to do with that? You take that dirty thing and you throw it in the dumpster.

Hollis: Throw it in the dumpster?

Sheila: Yes. Take it…

Hollis: Why would I–

Sheila: …and throw it in the trash. Do you hear me? Just do it.

[electricity buzzing]

[exhales]

[electricity buzzing]

Hollis: What are you doing here? Okay, look, I’m glad you’re here, because I really have to talk to someone about this.

[sighs]

Finn: Oh. Hey. Hope. Is Steffy not in yet?

Hope: Hey. Uh–Um, I don’t think so. No.

Finn: Darn. I, um– I was gonna surprise her on my way home. I worked the graveyard shift last night.

Hope: You must be tired.

Finn: Yeah. A, um, power nap is definitely in my future. How are you doing? I heard about Thomas leaving with Douglas and Paris. Hey, I know it’s tough, but it’s for the best. You’ll see. You’ll find the man that you’re meant to be with, Hope.

Steffy: I appreciate you calling me back. And, yes, this is about Sheila. I heard about that singer’s death. Tom Starr. They’re reporting that it’s an overdose, but have you investigated this, Chief Baker? I mean, they’re saying it’s accidental, but I have a very hard time believing that it’s just coincidence that a man dies where Sheila Carter works.

Deacon: All right, the day is off to a good start. Power’s gonna be restored to the restaurant. We can open up on time as scheduled.

Sheila: That’s great.

Deacon: Come here. I didn’t get a chance to do that last night because I was already in bed when you came back. What took you so long to get up here?

Sheila: Yeah, well, I just wanted to make sure everything was stocked, ready to go for this week. You know, it’s therapeutic for me. Checking everything, making sure the numbers are there.

Deacon: Hmm. I like that. What do you say I go downstairs and make a couple of my soon-to-be world-famous espressos, start the day off for you?

Sheila: Why don’t you stay here and let me do that.

Deacon: Okay. Um, everything all right?

Sheila: Yeah. I’m fine. I’m just thinking about how much I love you and our life here together, and… I’m not gonna let anything or anyone take that away from me.

[gasps, screams]

[screaming continues]

Sheila: No!

[whimpering]

Deacon: Sheila, what’s going on? Hollis. Sheila, come help me. Call 911. Oh, my God. Come on. No, don’t say it.

Sheila: He’s gone, Deacon. Hollis is dead.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead.

Luna: I know exactly who did it.

Finn: He died of the same drug that killed Tom.

Deacon: I lost my friends. I want answers. I wanna know what the hell happened.

Hope: I find you attractive.

Finn: You can’t talk this way.

Devon: I mean, I think the key is communication, right? In order to divide these companies successfully, we’re gonna need cooperation from leadership in all the divisions.

Nate: Agreed. Word is already starting to spread about the board vote. People wanna know how to proceed. What’s to come?

Devon: I mean, the message is simple. The company is strong. Just gonna be two separate, solid entities.

Nate: As it was before the merger.

Devon: Exactly. And I wanna be fair to Billy and Jill, but obviously I’m gonna be more focused on our side of things.

Nate: Oh, speaking of which, I’ve got some ideas on how to streamline the overall process. In particular, to shore up the Winters entities.

Devon: Nice. Well, let’s hear it.

Nate: Well, um… You know, should I hold off until Lily has a chance to hear this? I imagine we wanna get her input.

Devon: Yeah. I don’t know if she’s gonna be joining us today. I’m not really sure where we stand. I haven’t talked to her since the vote.

Nate: Well, I hope that’s not a bad sign.

Devon: I think we’re about to find out.

Nate: Hello, Lily.

Lily: Hello.

Devon: Hey.

Lily: Hi. Uh, sorry, I haven’t been in touch. I just wanted to wait until after the board meeting for things to calm down.

Devon: Yeah, it’s okay. Have things settled down enough for you to tell Billy you’re not gonna be joining him at Chancellor?

Claire: All right. First, I think we should check our supplies. Are you ready? All right. Do we have snacks?

Harrison: Yes, for us and for the ducks.

Claire: Very important. What else?

Harrison: Zippy stayed home, but we have other toys and water.

Claire: Fun, food, water, all the essentials. We are prepared.

Harrison: Don’t forget, we have shovels for digging and journals so we can write down what we find. But what are we looking for?

Claire: Today, we continue to be scholar adventurers, and our topic this afternoon is worms. You see, worms are really important. They’re not just long and slimy. They actually help the soil to make sure it gets all the best nutrients.

Harrison: Does what they do help the caterpillars and other animals?

Claire: There’s only one way to find out. We will conduct our research. Let’s go find some earthworms to study.

Harrison: You’re the best, Claire.

Claire: No, you are. Come on, let’s go.

Katie: The rule is whoever calls shotgun first sits in the front seat.

Johnny: The rule is whoever’s older. Besides, I’ve called it way before, like, in my head while I was sleeping last night.

Katie: That doesn’t count.

Johnny: Yeah, it does. You snooze, you lose.

Victoria: Do I need to step in here?

Johnny/Katie: No.

Victoria: Okay, then. Lemonade is on me.

Billy: Ooh, Mom’s buying. Soak it up.

Victoria: Don’t encourage them.

Billy: Let me see. Let me see the eyes. All right. Bags don’t look too bad. That’s good. In between the riding and the swimming and the gaming and the sleepovers, you’re getting a little bit of rest.

Johnny: I mean, you can’t blame us for making the most of our summer.

Billy: You will never hear me complain about you being happy. Plus, you both look healthy, and I’m grateful for that.

Johnny: Aw, you’re getting soft in your old age.

Billy: You make fun of me all you want, but I know how lucky I am and I will never forget that.

Victoria: Well, um, we’ll let you go, but give Chelsea my best.

Johnny: Oh, same with me. And Connor, too.

Billy: I will. Hey, how about we do movie night later this week? Pizza, popcorn, the whole thing.

Katie: We don’t have to do everything as a family.

Billy: One of these days, you’ll be glad we did. And if it makes your old man happy, you’re gonna have to suck it up. I love you both. Be nice to Mom, okay?

Billy: Hey.

Chelsea: Hi. Uh, I don’t want to interrupt. You should– you should go. You should– you should go be with the kids.

Billy: It’s okay. They’re with Victoria and I want to be with you. Hey. You’re trembling. Are you okay?

Sally: Thanks. Yeah. So, it’s like we never left. Chloe and I are back. Literally. All systems go. Everything’s firing.

Adam: That’s good.

Sally: Yeah, I’m just so relieved to be back doing what I love, where I belong. And it really feels like the right move for Chloe, too.

Adam: How so?

Sally: Well, our work together is tied in fashion. We’re great partners, and not to brag, but Summer is thrilled with the work we’re doing.

Adam: Of course, she is.

Sally: Oh, my gosh. Wait until you see Marchetti’s new evening gown, designed by yours truly. It is gorgeous, if I do say so myself.

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Sally: And maybe I can even model it for you at home.

Adam: I can’t wait.

Sally: Adam, is something wrong?

Adam: Hm?

[ Chelsea panting ]

Sally: Adam?

Adam: Mm-hmm?

Sally: Where did you go just now?

Billy: Look, I think I know what happened.

Chelsea: You do?

Billy: You saw Johnny, you didn’t expect that and it kind of threw you. I mean, that’s– that’s understandable, Chelsea.

Chelsea: Yeah, it’s true. It did.

Billy: Don’t feel bad that he didn’t come over here, okay? He told me to say hello to you and to Connor. He asks about you all the time.

Chelsea: You know, I completely understand. I wouldn’t want to put him on the spot, you know, when he’s in front of Katie and Victoria. I think it’s just me. I think my emotions are just all over the place right now.

Billy: Of course, that makes sense.

Chelsea: And it’s hard, you know, to see Johnny like that when Connor is…

Billy: Yeah, it’s tough. Connor’s suffering. Connor’s going to be all right. He’s going to be back and better than ever. He’s strong, just like his mother.

Chelsea: And, you know, I mean, it makes me happy to see how well he’s doing. He’s thriving. He’s– he’s growing up. It warms my heart. It gives me hope.

Billy: I’m glad. How about you? How are you feeling? Did you get some rest?

Chelsea: A little bit. I– I took a nap. I’m not 100%, but I’m getting there.

Billy: Okay, well, we can fix that. Did you get something to eat?

Chelsea: Uh, no, and I’m actually pretty hungry.

Billy: Good. Plus, you owe me a do-over for breakfast. So, how about we go grab lunch? Society?

Chelsea: Sounds perfect.

Lily: Um, Nate, would you mind giving Devon and me a moment to chat?

Nate: Yeah, definitely. Uh, we’ll talk later.

Devon: Okay.

Lily: Thank you.

Devon: What do I get the feeling I’m not gonna like what you’re about to say?

Lily: I haven’t told Billy that I’m not joining him yet.

Devon: Hm. And why’s that?

Lily: I think it’s too soon.

Devon: Okay. Well, Nate and I have already started discussing the details of the separation, so it’s probably a good time to pick a side.

Lily: Devon, I told you that I needed time after the vote to think about this before I just jumped ship.

Devon: And how much time will you need?

Lily: I don’t know. I need time to process, given what the separation means.

Devon: Right. I hope you can understand that I’m finding it a little difficult to trust that you’re being honest with me.

Lily: Why?

Devon: Because you knew that Jill was sick this whole time, and that’s just another secret that Billy shared with you that you didn’t share with me. I had to hear it from him right before we had a board meeting.

Lily: I wanted to share it with you, but Billy told me that in confidence.

Devon: I understand, but were his feelings more important than mine?

Lily: No, but Jill swore him to secrecy. He wasn’t supposed to tell me, so it wasn’t my information to just pass along.

Devon: No, I understand that. And I also respect Jill’s decision not to tell us about her health issues. But still, it all just adds to the uncertainty of this whole situation. And last time you and I talked, things got a little heated. So, I just want to know where your head’s at. That’s all.

Lily: I don’t know. I didn’t expect Jill to react negatively to the demerger, so now everything just feels off to me.

Devon: And hearing you say that makes me feel like you’re starting to pull away, and that you’re thinking about throwing away our plan and choosing to join Billy over me.

Adam: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to space out. Um, I’m really happy that things are going so well for you at Marchetti.

Sally: Thank you. But you don’t have to force enthusiasm. Look, I know you’ve been through a lot lately and I’m here for all of it. The good, the bad, the ugly. Whatever it is, you can tell me.

Adam: I’m just, I’m thinking about the trip to Baltimore and how stressful it got, the worry, the intensity.

Sally: Look, I’m so sorry that you’ve had to go through all this. I mean, what you and Chelsea have had to endure, it’s just unbearable.

Adam: Sally, um, there’s something that I need to–

Billy: Hey.

Sally: Hi.

Chelsea: Hi. Nice to see you both.

Adam: You too.

Sally: Are you guys here for lunch?

Billy: Yeah. That’s the plan.

Sally: Well, why don’t you join us?

Billy: Yeah. We can do that.

Victoria: Ah, this is nice.

Johnny: Can I say something?

Victoria: I don’t know. Can you?

Johnny: Ha ha. It’s just, Chelsea seemed kind of sad at Crimson Lights.

Victoria: Oh, well, you know, I think she’s just stressed out with everything that’s going on with Connor. Billy said not to worry. He said that she’s managing.

Johnny: Good. I just don’t want her to get too upset, you know?

Victoria: I do.

Johnny: And Connor’s been through a lot, finding out we were brothers, what happened to his mom, going to that special boarding school, and that was all before the OCD.

Katie: Do you think he’ll be okay, Mom?

Victoria: I know that Connor’s receiving some excellent treatment at that clinic in Baltimore.

Johnny: I just wish there was more I could do for him.

Victoria: Honey, you have his back and he knows that. That’s what counts, all right?

Katie: Maybe we can do something with Connor when he comes home, like all of us together.

Victoria: Oh, so you are willing to do things with us.

Johnny: Maybe there’s hope for you.

Claire: Hey, Harrison, look who it is.

Victoria: Hi.

Lily: I haven’t decided to let our plan go.

Devon: You haven’t decided to let it go yet. And you also haven’t told Billy the truth, which is why I’m concerned.

Lily: Jill was just so disappointed when she found out that we’re breaking up the company, and if she knows that I’m leaving, she’s gonna be devastated.

Devon: She’ll be sad for a minute, and then she’ll understand because you’re gonna be joining your family and she’s never gonna knock you for doing that.

Lily: Well, I’d also be leaving Billy hanging.

Devon: I– No, you’d be doing Billy a favor.

Lily: How is that?

Devon: Because you and I both know that he’s wanted to run this company for a long time now by himself and he gets to do it.

Lily: I don’t think he wants that. He proposed a very solid partnership.

Devon: Billy’s not gonna tell you that he secretly wants you out.

Lily: I think I could read Billy Abbott.

Devon: Yeah, I bet you can. But why do you trust him so much?

Lily: Because we have history and we make a good team and I don’t think he’s gonna wanna lose that.

Devon: But what do you get out of this whole situation? Because you know that he’s a loose cannon, and all you’re gonna be doing is keeping him in line.

Lily: I’ve done it before.

Devon: Is that fulfilling to you, though? Because, clearly, the guy is desperate for more power and maybe he’s convinced himself that he wants to work with you, or he knows that it’s gonna make his mom feel better to have you on board.

Lily: Oh, right, because he could never just value me as a partner.

Devon: That’s not what I’m saying at all. My point is that he should value you as a partner. He’d be stupid not to.

Lily: Well, he was smart enough to know what we were up to.

Devon: What do you mean?

Lily: He called me out. He told me that he knew I was playing him and that I was gonna back out.

Devon: And how’d you respond?

Lily: I denied it, of course. I told him that I needed time to think. I mean, I think he bought it.

Devon: Hm. Well, I mean, I guess the good thing is, is at this point, Billy can’t stop our plan. The only person who can do that is you.

Sally: Have you had any updates on Connor?

Chelsea: Uh, not yet. And believe me, I check my phone every two minutes.

Adam: Yeah, doctor said it could be a little while.

Billy: Well, hopefully, you get some good news soon.

Adam: Thank you. Us, too.

Chelsea: Yeah.

Sally: You ordering your usual?

Billy: Oh, yeah. Can’t go wrong with the empanadas.

Adam: I didn’t realize the two of you knew each other so well.

Billy: My love for the empanadas is no secret.

Sally: Hardly.

Billy: Actually, Sally and I ran into each other a few times while you were away.

Sally: Yeah, we’ve gotten coffee and touched base about Connor. Nothing for you to be jealous of. And I know from Adam what a roller coaster this has been. I’m really impressed with you two and how you’re handling it. It can’t be easy.

Chelsea: I– I actually don’t think I’m handling it well, to be honest. I break down a lot. There are moments I think I’m just gonna completely lose it.

Billy: Well, you may feel that way, but–

Adam: But you never do. You’ve stayed so strong throughout everything.

Billy: I agree.

Chelsea: You’ve done the same.

Billy: Both of you have been great, you know? You’ve been able to put your history aside and really be there for your son. That’s important.

Sally: Yeah, exactly. And that’s not always easy.

Adam: You do what you have to do when your kid is hurting.

Harrison: Claire, these are my cousins. That’s Katie and Johnny.

Claire: We’ve actually already met.

Victoria: Harrison, you– you know that Katie and Johnny are Claire’s brother and sister, right?

Harrison: Wow, you’re so lucky.

Johnny: Yeah, she seems pretty cool.

Victoria: Claire and Harrison have become really good pals.

Harrison: We’re studying worms. Do you want me to show you? We’re digging them up over there.

Johnny: Sure, why not?

Harrison: Great, come on. You can use my shovel.

Claire: Uh, I hope that’s all right. I don’t want to interrupt your family time.

Victoria: No, what are you talking about? You’re family, too. I just, I hope that we’re not, you know, getting in the way of work for you.

Claire: No, the more the merrier. Uh… Katie, do you want to come, too?

Katie: Worms? I’ll pass.

Claire: No problem. If you change your mind, we’ll be over by the big trees.

Victoria: It sounds like a good time. Worms and all.

Katie: If you like that kind of thing.

Lily: I just wish that you could understand this isn’t easy for me.

Devon: I do understand this isn’t easy for you. I just think you’re trying to please too many people. Especially Jill.

Lily: Well, she means a lot to me.

Devon: Yeah, she means a lot to me, too.

Lily: No, it’s more than that. I feel guilty.

Devon: What do you feel guilty about?

Lily: She took a huge chance on me. It was a risk for her to have me run Chancellor. I mean, she basically handed me her company.

Devon: Right, and you did a great job. You exceeded all of her expectations. And now she has her son running the show. And she has Chance here. And they’re going to carry on her legacy. That’s her family.

Lily: I know that. I just, I will always feel grateful that she had faith in me.

Devon: Well, yeah, of course you will. But you also know that Jill picked you because she knew you would do great things.

Lily: Yeah, and I did. She gave me the leeway to make my own decisions. And this company grew beyond anything I could have expected.

Devon: And that’s just a testament to what you’re capable of.

Lily: Yeah, I mean, she saw something in me that I didn’t. She saw me as a leader.

Devon: Lily, you can tell me. Are you hesitating because you don’t want to walk away from everything you created at Chancellor? You can’t let it go, can you?

Sally: Well, the trip to Baltimore must have taken a lot out of you both. You saw Connor, had a good day. Then you heard he was going into inpatient treatment.

Adam: It just, it was– it was so abrupt. I mean, one minute we’re hanging out with him and he’s happy and he’s positive and then, the next…

Billy: You get the news.

Adam: Yeah. It, uh, it was a gut punch.

Sally: Man, I would have been climbing the walls with nothing to do but wait.

Chelsea: It was excruciating, not being able to see Connor or speak with him.

Adam: And not know what was going to happen next.

Sally: Well, I hope you two were at least able to find ways to distract yourself from all the waiting and worrying.

Billy: Yeah, I think that’s the worst part about it, you know? Then, you start to spiral.

Sally: It’s an awful feeling, having no control over the situation and feeling like you can’t help but just fixate on all the what-ifs.

Adam: Well, last night, we got blind drunk. That helped.

Billy: I don’t blame you, you know? Of course, that’s probably why you’re tired today.

Chelsea: No, he’s exaggerating. We ate a couple drinks and we called it a night.

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Chelsea: Um…

[ phone ringing ]

Chelsea: Oh, this is the clinic. It must be one of Connor’s doctors.

Adam: Ooh, answer it.

Chelsea: Hi, this is Chelsea.

Chelsea: Well, that’s great to hear. What a relief. Yes, yes, he’s here with me right now, actually. I will let him know. Thank you, Dr. Hammond.

Adam: What happened?

Chelsea: Connor was released from inpatient an hour ago. He’s back in his room.

Adam: Oh, my God, that is great. Thank God. Um, what else did she say? I mean, how’s his state of mind? Is he doing okay?

Chelsea: Um, she said he’s doing great. He had a breakthrough. He’s, uh, stopped himself from disassociating.

Adam: What? He did?

Chelsea: I know. Yeah, I’m getting so excited. I know I shouldn’t get too excited, but I can’t help it. I mean, this– this feels big. The doctors think he’s turning a corner.

Adam: That’s our boy.

Chelsea: I know.

Adam: That’s our boy.

Victoria: Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on. Where are you going? No, sit down. Come on. I know, I’m your boring mom.

Katie: You’re not that bad.

Victoria: Gee, thanks. Sit. Talk to me.

Katie: About?

Victoria: I don’t know. Tell me. How was your last day of school?

Katie: It was fine. Just packed up, said goodbye to everyone.

Victoria: How did your Spanish test go? Did you talk to your dance teacher about next fall?

Katie: I think I did muy bien on the test, and Miss Scott says I’m ready for intermediate ballet next year.

Victoria: Oh, that’s fantastic! I’m so proud of you. So, um, is there anything in particular that you want to do this summer? Any friends that you want to hang out with?

Katie: Some people from Walnut Grove wanted to hang out, and some friends from my old writing class.

Harrison: Do you think ducks eat worms?

Johnny: You could try to feed them one.

Harrison: Can I, Claire?

Katie: Gross.

Victoria: Maybe you and I could go to Chicago one weekend, and we could do some shopping and see a show.

Katie: Just you and me?

Victoria: Yeah, would you like that?

Claire: Let’s stick with the peas and oats for the ducks.

Johnny: No fun, Claire.

[ group laughing ]

Victoria: Uh, I would like that. I mean, I would like to spend as much time with you as I can while you’re home.

Victoria: I figured you’d be too busy with Claire, your first daughter.

Johnny: I’m going to make an ice cream run. You guys want anything?

Victoria: Uh, would you like anything, sweetheart?

Katie: Oh, for once in my life, I actually get a vote?

Victoria: Uh, you know what, just get us both chocolate. Thank you.

Johnny: Get you some, Mom. But not for the grump. What’s wrong with you?

Billy: I mean, again, it’s just such great news.

Chelsea: Mm-hmm.

Billy: I’m so happy for Connor.

Sally: And for you two. I mean, for all of us, really. It’s just a relief.

Chelsea: It really is. I’d like to call Connor. You think it’s too soon?

Adam: Well, why don’t we text him? Tell him we heard the news and we can video chat him. You know, whenever he’s up for it. No pressure.

Chelsea: Good idea. I like that.

[ phone ringing ]

Adam: Oh–

Chelsea: Oh, it’s Connor.

Adam: He wants to video chat. Should we do it at my place, since it’s closest?

Chelsea: Uh, do you mind if I head out?

Billy: No. Of course not.

Adam: I don’t want to dine and dash, but–

Sally: No, go, go, go. Talk to your son.

Adam: You’re the best.

Chelsea: I’ll text you.

Billy: Bye.

Chelsea: Bye. All right, yeah. It’s okay.

Billy: Bye.

Sally: Bye.

[ Sally sighing ]

Billy: Quite the day.

Sally: Yeah, really. Mmm. Really happy for them, though.

Billy: Yeah, of course. Me too.

Sally: Yeah. I have to admit, I was holding my breath when Chelsea got that call.

Billy: Mm. Me as well.

Sally: It’s kind of a glimpse into what they’ve been dealing with. You know, all the ups and downs. This whole ordeal has really bonded them, hasn’t it?

Billy: Yeah, it has.

Devon: Listen, I understand how you’re feeling.

Lily: You do?

Devon: I do, yes. Completely. Because before today, I mean, this all was just an idea that we were talking about. It wasn’t real. But then when we had the meeting, and we had the vote and we divided the companies up, you’re suddenly faced with everything you stand to lose.

Lily: Yeah, maybe you’re right, you know. It’s just really hard to leave this all behind.

Devon: Yeah, but you have to remember, you’re not leaving behind the same company that you started at. Billy is running the show now. And I promise you, he is not going to give you the same freedom that you had when you worked with Jill.

Lily: And you will?

Devon: Well, what’s that supposed to mean?

Lily: I mean, come on, Devon. It’s not a secret. We all know how much you love to be in charge.

Devon: You’re saying that I’m a– a control freak?

Lily: I mean, you said it.

Devon: Well, I think that’s a bit of an exaggeration.

Lily: Okay, well, then fine. Like, tell me how you think this is going to work. Do you really think that we’re going to be equal partners?

Devon: Yes, of course I do. I mean, I was equal partners with Neil. And you were right there with us. You saw it. We worked out just fine. And now this is our opportunity to build something together as a team.

Lily: I really want to believe that.

Devon: Then believe it. It’s just going to be you and me. There’s no one to answer to. It’s us.

Lily: I know, but we have had issues at work before. I mean, it hasn’t been easy.

Devon: Okay, and when we had those issues, we got past all of them. Right? You know what I come from, Lily. There is nothing that would make me happier than to run our family’s company, with my sister. And I know Neil would want the same thing for us. And regardless, that has to sound better than working for your power-hungry ex.

Lily: You know, sometimes I feel like you just don’t want me to be around Billy because you have issues with him.

Devon: Well, that’s ridiculous to think. You can take Billy completely out of this scenario. It’s not about Billy. Okay? It’s about you and me. Are you really ready to just give up on the idea of running our family’s company?

Lily: I didn’t say that.

Devon: Yeah, but the fact we’re even having this conversation means that you are considering doing that and joining Jill and Billy, right?

Lily: I mean, if I said yes, what would that mean for us?

Devon: I mean, is that something you would actually do? You’d stay at Chancellor and not come to Winters with me?

Lily:: I asked what that would mean for us.

Devon: Yeah, I don’t know what that would mean. Because I already kind of suspected you felt this way, so–

Lily: I mean, look, you don’t even need me. You and Dad started Hamilton Winters, and I came on board later.

Devon: Right, I understand that. That’s not the point. The point is that I agreed to pull the trigger to separate these companies, because you made me believe that you were going to come and work with me.

Lily: I know. I know. I know.

Devon: And now you’re telling me that that might not happen. So, it’s disappointing.

Lily: I know. At– I don’t mean to let you or Dad down. Okay? That is not my intention.

Devon: I know. I’m sure it’s not your intention, but the end result is the same.

Lily: Look, Devon, I have to do what’s right for me. Okay? And I honestly don’t know if you and I would work well together.

Devon: Okay. All right. Do I count you out, then?

Lily: No, I didn’t say that. Just– I just — I, I just need some time. Okay? Please.

Devon: Okay. I hope you make the right decision.

Lily: So do I.

Nate: So, what happened? Where do things stand with Lily?

Devon: I wish I knew.

Adam: So, how about that lunch?

Chelsea: Oh, my God. So awkward.

Adam: Right?

Chelsea: I’ve never been more uncomfortable in my whole life. I can’t believe you told them we got drunk in Baltimore. Why would you do that?

Adam: Because it’s true.

Chelsea: Well, yeah, and it’s what led to us making a huge mistake, Adam.

Adam: Chelsea, I figured the more honest that we can be, the better. We can just talk about the surrounding circumstances and avoid this specific issue.

Chelsea: I’m not sure I can do this. The lying and the guilt, it’s eating at me.

Adam: What good would it do to tell them the truth? It’s only going to hurt them to know. Okay? It was a one-time thing. We were– we were desperate, and we were confused.

Chelsea: Overwhelmed.

Adam: It was about solace, and comfort. But we have to put it behind us and move forward. Connor needs us, and he needs our attention. We got some really good news today. Let’s focus on that.

Chelsea: You’re right. I know you’re right.

Adam: Are you ready?

Chelsea: Yes.

[ video ringing ]

Adam: Hey, buddy.

Chelsea: Aw, it’s so good to see you.

Connor: You guys, too.

Chelsea: How are you?

Adam: We heard you had to go into inpatient treatment. If you want to talk about it, we’re– we’re happy to listen.

Chelsea: But only if you feel comfortable.

Connor: I’m good. I guess they told you what happened. The nurse caught me with a pen, trying to hurt myself.

Chelsea: Yes, Dr. Hammond told us.

Connor: Inpatient was scary. I was alone, and I couldn’t leave my room the first day. They checked on me every half hour.

Chelsea: Sounds intense.

Connor: The OCD was really bad. I couldn’t control it. Couldn’t stop it. It was like it was mad, and wanted to hurt me, or make me hurt myself.

Adam: That does sound scary.

Connor: But then I realized, I wanted to fight back. It was all up to me, and I knew I could do it. I don’t know how exactly, but all of a sudden I forced myself not to zone out, to stop the hitting.

Chelsea: Dr. Hammond said you had a breakthrough of some kind.

Connor: I took control. I pushed the OCD voice away, the one that told me I didn’t deserve to be happy. I called the nurse for help.

Adam: Good for you.

Connor: The next day, the voice got weaker and weaker. Same with the urge to hurt myself. It was like everything I’ve learned finally snapped into place.

Chelsea: Oh, Connor, that’s wonderful.

Connor: There is something else. It might scare you, but I think it’s important for you to hear.

Sally: Well, I’m glad that Adam and Chelsea were able to work past their differences for Connor’s sake. I would hate to think what it would be like otherwise.

Billy: Me too.

Sally: Hi, Lily.

Lily: Hi.

Billy: Hi.

Lily: Hi.

Sally: Well, I’m guessing you two have work to discuss, and I have work to do. So, I will see you around.

Billy: See you.

Sally: You as well.

Lily: Good night. I’ll see you.

Sally: Bye, you too.

Billy: Is– is Sally right? Do we have work to discuss?

Lily: Uh, have you spoken to Jill? Is she feeling better after the meeting?

Billy: I haven’t been able to catch up with her yet. She’s in another round of treatment, so she’s focusing on that.

Lily: Yeah, as she should.

Billy: Look, she’s going to be fine with the separation, Lily. She’s going to come around.

Lily: Does Jill ever come around?

Billy: Well, she will, once she finds out what we have intended for the company. However we got here, whatever plans or deals were made, it doesn’t change my faith in what we can do together. But the truth is, you have been hesitant, so it’s hard to know what you think.

Lily: Well, you’re not the only one who feels that way.

Billy: Well, I won’t have to doubt you anymore, if you just tell me that you’re in.

Victoria: Okay, you guys just take a breath. Okay?

Harrison: Katie! These are for you.

Katie: Oh, did you put him up to this?

Claire: Honestly, I thought he picked them for Summer.

Harrison: My mom can have some too, but you look sad. I thought they’d cheer you up.

Katie: Thank you.

Harrison: I was sad for a while, but Claire helped me feel better. She’s fun. Maybe we can all have fun together.

Katie: You know what, Harrison? I’d like to go with you for ice cream after all. What flavor do you like?

Harrison: Chocolate, duh.

Katie: Okay then, chocolate it is. Can you hold these?

Johnny: You’re such a sucker, falling for some flowers.

Victoria: Well, that was, um…

Katie: Come on.

Adam: Well, whatever it is that you want to tell us, we’re ready to hear it.

Connor: Before I went into inpatient, sometimes I would just let the OCD take over, give in to the obsessions, to hurting myself. It just felt too hard to keep fighting.

Chelsea: I’m sorry. That sounds hard.

Connor: It was easier to give the OCD all the power, because then I got a break. But then I realized when I fight the OCD, I’m fighting for myself. The way you both have always fought for me.

Chelsea: Mmm.

Adam: And we always will, Peanut.

Chelsea: We love you so much.

Connor: Now that I’ve faced it, I don’t feel like I want to hurt myself anymore. Give in to the OCD. That’s over.

Chelsea: Well, Dr. Hammond said all the doctors are very pleased with your progress.

Connor: They think I’ve turned a corner. And for the first time, it feels like it might actually get better.

Chelsea: Oh. You are so brave, Connor.

Adam: And we’re so proud of you.

Nate: What did she say? Is she going with our plan?

[ Devon sighing ]

Devon: She hasn’t decided yet. But she’s definitely wavering.

Nate: Did you try to convince her otherwise?

Devon: I really did. I gave it my best pitch. But, uh, she won’t commit.

Nate: Seriously?

Devon: Yeah. I mean, if she wants to stay at Chancellor, that’s going to be something that we have to respect.

Nate: There’s got to be a way we can fix this.

Devon: Mm.

Nate: What’s our next move?

Devon: Hell, I think at this point, the only thing we can do is prepare for the possibility that the new Winters company will not have Lily Winters.

Billy: You’re doing it again. You’re hesitating.

[ Lily sighing ]

Lily: Billy, I just… I…I don’t know.

Billy: Lily, I just need to know. Are you in or are you out?

Lily: I’m in. I’m in. I’m– I’m ready to move forward.

Billy: You sure?

Lily: Yes. Yes. We’ll make an announcement. We’ll– we’ll plan a launch. And it’ll be Lily Winters and Billy Abbott. Force to be reckoned with.

Billy: Damn straight. Great. Let’s get this thing rolling. Trust me. You’re not going to regret this.

Brooke: You were wanting to go back to Thomas to run away from your feelings for Finn. And you’re terrified of becoming just like your mother. You didn’t want to make the same mistakes. Come on, Hope. Tell me that you see that.

Eric: Thomas. Hey.

Thomas: Hey.

Ridge: There you are. I’ve been looking for you.

Eric: What are you doing?

Ridge: I was looking for you.

Eric: I’m here. I live here. Yeah? And how about you? I mean, are you excited? I mean, the big day’ll be here any minute now.

Thomas: Big day? What big day?

Eric: The day you exchange vows with your beautiful fiancée in front of a throng of well-wishers.

Ridge: A what? A throng?

Eric: A throng.

Ridge: How many people in a throng?

Eric: I’m not exactly sure.

Ridge: Okay.

Eric: All right. A small group of friends and well-wishers watching you marry the beautiful Paris Buckingham.

Thomas: Hmm.

Eric: You excited?

Thomas: Don’t I look excited?

[laughter]

Eric: It actually does show. I’ve never seen you happier.

Thomas: Well, that’s thanks to Paris.

Eric: I can’t wait to welcome Paris into this family. I can’t wait.

Ridge: Hear, hear.

Eric: And whatever the two of you decide, whenever you decide to do it, I’m just happy you’re gonna do it here in this room. In this house.

Luna: God, this is so great, hanging like this, my mom and my dad.

Bill: You wouldn’t rather be hanging with R.J.?

Poppy: Well, next time, we can invite him to join us.

Luna: Yes. I’d like that. And R.J. would, too, I’m sure.

Bill: Really? I’m not R.J.’s favorite person.

Luna: No. He knows how much this means to me, finally finding my father after all these years. He’s been totally supportive.

Bill: Good. I’m glad.

Luna: And he loves that I’m happy, and what makes me happy is this. My dad and my mom. My family. Nothing’s ever gonna come between us ever again.

[Bill chuckles]

[electricity buzzing]

[light switch clicking]

Deacon: Hollis, I need another case of cabernet out here, pronto!

Thomas: You know, Paris and I were thinking when we finally do the ceremony, we might wanna do it out by the pool. We could have everybody in their swimwear, including the bride and groom. What do you think?

Eric: I think that’s an interesting idea.

Thomas: Yeah. It’s very interesting. It’s different, and I think that Douglas would really love it.

Eric: You know, I have– I have some shorts I like that I wouldn’t mind wearing. And I even have some little black ones like your father used to wear in the ’80s.

Ridge: Oh.

Eric: And Donna has dozens of suits to pick from. I could probably wear one of hers, though it might pull focus.

Thomas: Granddad, you’re right. That would definitely pull focus. I’m sorry. I don’t know why I tried to put one over on him.

Ridge: You should know by now that he’s always gonna be one step ahead of you.

Thomas: Yeah.

Eric: Whatever the two of you decide and whenever you decide, it’s gonna be a very special day.

Ridge: I agree. It’s gonna be amazing. Everyone’s behind you.

Thomas: Well, everyone except for Hope. She’s still really upset about this whole engagement thing.

Brooke: I know you never wanted to be like me.

Hope: You’re my mother. I look up to you, and I have always admired your strength and your accomplishments. It’s just…

Brooke: It’s just I haven’t been a very good role model in my personal life. And I know that. I do. Especially when I was younger, I was… very selfish. I would do whatever I wanted, and I didn’t care. I hurt a lot of people– my friends, my family, my children. You were right there, honey. You were right there in the middle of it. And I know you experienced a lot of that fallout. And I’m… so, so sorry. I mean, that’s why you’re the person you are today, why you’re so cautious with everything, and… you are, um– you’re careful, you know? You don’t wanna make the same mistakes that I made, and I understand that. But the reason why I’m saying these things is because I need you to see what’s driving your desire to be with Thomas. You need to see that, honey. Just… let him go. Please, just support his engagement to Paris.

Poppy: Okay.

[Luna laughs] Well, this, um– this is definitely a first for me.

Luna:, Oh, come on, Mom, we used to have caviar every single day when I was growing up.

Bill: Yeah, doesn’t everyone?

[Poppy laughs]

Poppy: Okay. You two are making fun of me.

Bill: No, we’re not making fun of you. We’re enjoying watching you experience something new.

Poppy: Mm-hmm.

Luna: And did you know that Italian caviar is considered one of the best, if not the best in the world?

Poppy: Oh, is that so? And, um–And who told you that?

Luna: Dad, of course. He’s been giving me a crash course on the finer things in life.

Bill: Well, what can I say? I wanna expose both of you to everything that the world has to offer.

[Hollis sighs]

Deacon: Hey, what are you doing? You’re crushing the grapes yourself back here? What’s taking so long with the vino?

Hollis: I’m sorry, boss. I’m coming right now.

Deacon: Come on, come on.

Thomas: Yeah, so, my relationship with Paris really threw Hope big time. I mean, when I came back to town, she thought that I was coming to restart our relationship.

Eric: But you had already moved on with Paris, so…

Thomas: Yeah. And I know that that hurt Hope. And I’m sorry it did.

Ridge: I am, too, but you need to find a woman that was devoted to you.

Thomas: I’m glad you understand.

Eric: Hope will, too, I’m sure, one day.

Thomas: Yeah, I just… I hope that my happiness doesn’t come at her expense.

Ridge: You make that sound that this is–it’s your fault. It’s not.

Thomas: I know it’s not my fault. But, look, I’ve moved on with my life. I’ve found happiness, and it seems like Hope is kind of lost, and that makes me sad.

Ridge: She’s a strong woman. She will find her way. She will move forward.

Thomas: Yeah. Well, speaking of moving forward, I hope you understand I’m heading back overseas with Paris and Douglas.

Ridge: No, we understand. We just don’t like it. But you gotta do what’s best for your son and what’s best for you. That’s what I want.

Thomas: Thanks, Dad.

Eric: Me, too. Me, too, Thomas. Good for you.

Hope: What you’re saying makes sense. I can’t believe I didn’t realize it until now.

Brooke: Sweetheart. Don’t beat yourself up. You’re going through a complicated, emotional time, and you need to be patient with yourself.

Hope: I do care about Thomas, though.

Brooke: I know this is hard, sweetheart. But you don’t need a man. And I know that you would like to meet the love of your life.

Hope: Like you and Ridge?

Brooke: Well, like an idealized version of Ridge and me. I mean, we have had our challenges.

Hope: Yeah, still you did always find your way back to each other.

Brooke: Yeah. We realized that we didn’t wanna live without each other. And I don’t see that for you and Thomas. Honey. You are a catch.

[Hope scoffs] You are. And your perfect man is out there somewhere. But it’s not gonna be Finn. It can’t be Finn. For obvious reasons. Hmm. You do know that, don’t you?

Hope: Oh, I would never, Mom. I’m not a homewrecker.

[Brooke sighs]

Brooke: I know that, sweetie.

Poppy: Okay, wait. You actually went with your dad to Spencer Publications the other day?

Luna: Yeah. And it was crazy. I mean, talk about impressive and exciting.

Bill: Yeah, Forrester Creations pales in comparison, doesn’t it?

Poppy: Ooh.

Luna: Well, um, they are very different companies, that’s for sure. And…you know what? All my life I’ve dreamt of being in fashion. But after visiting Spencer, I can see that there are other possibilities.

Bill: Aha. An open mind. I like it. That means I can lure you over to my team, to the good guys. You have Spencer blood, and that means the family business is your birthright now.

Deacon: Oh, you know that table for six tonight? It’s a table for 10 now. Apparently, they got some last-minute out-of-town guests. Mr. Harper himself called, asked if we could accommodate. The guy runs a studio. Are you even listening to me?

Hollis: Huh? Yeah. What?

Deacon: No. Like hell you are. Come on. You’re zoning out here. What’s going on with you?

Hollis: You wanna know the truth?

Deacon: Yeah.

Hollis: Man, I can’t stop wondering why Tom overdosed that night.

Brooke: Mmm. My goodness.

[laughs] You’re in a good mood.

Ridge: Oh, yeah. Just had a great talk with my son.

Brooke: Oh. I had a… good talk with my daughter.

Ridge: You did? You don’t… seem sure.

Brooke: Yeah.

Ridge: Is she on board finally with Thomas and Paris being engaged?

Brooke: Mm, yeah. I think so.

Ridge: Good. That’s what I want. I want everyone to be happy.

Brooke: I want that, too.

[knocking]

Thomas: Sorry to interrupt.

Hope: Thomas, hi.

Thomas: You look busy. I won’t take too long.

Hope: Uh, no, it’s– it’s fine. What’s–What’s up?

Thomas: I wanted to let you know my plans.

Hope: Actually–Okay, uh, before you do that, I– I believe I owe you an apology.

Thomas: An apology for what?

Hope: Well, you came back here to Los Angeles, excited to start this next chapter of your life with your engagement to Paris, and I, uh, didn’t exactly handle it well. And for that, I am truly sorry, Thomas. You deserve better from me.

Bill: I mean it. You’re a Spencer, the daughter I never knew I had. But now that I do, I want you to have everything that comes with being a Spencer.

Luna: Thank you.

Bill: No. Thank you. Thank you for coming into my life, for being the amazing young woman that you are. I know I’ve said it before, but I could not be prouder as a father to call you my daughter.

Luna: I feel the same way. I am so proud and thrilled to be your daughter.

Bill: Does that mean you still want me to adopt you? ‘Cause if so, I am ready when you are.

Luna: I was ready the moment the paternity test said that you were my father.

[Luna sniffles]

[sighs]

Hollis: Tom, man, I’m sorry…

[electricity buzzes] …about going through your personal stuff.

Thomas: You do not need to apologize, Hope. I left town and we were completely in love with each other. And I come back and Douglas runs into your arms. Of course you thought I was back to pick up where we left off.

Hope: Oh, it’s, uh– it is no secret that this has been a struggle for me, learning about you and Paris and what it means for you, for us, for our family. So, yes, my feelings have been a bit all over the place. But, um, you know how I feel. You know that I feel like it’s a bit of an overnight engagement, that you were just rushing into a future with another woman and trying to leave our past behind as quickly as possible.

Thomas: That’s not what this is.

Hope: No, I know. You’ve explained it to me what evolved between the two of you over in Europe. I know. Ultimately, what I am trying to say with this apology is that if that is what you want, a future with Paris, then I wish you the best.

Thomas: You mean that?

Hope: Yeah. I mean, maybe this is all meant to be, right? And if it is, I–I– I hope it is everlasting and wonderful.

Thomas: That does mean a lot to me. Look, I, uh– I meant to tell you about my plans. I’m heading back to France with Paris and Douglas. And I know that you wish you had spent more time with our son.

Hope: Yes. But I am sure we will be able to work it out. I understand that he now has a home in France and he is happy there, so…

Thomas: You know, I am never gonna take our son away from you. I promise. Douglas loves you so much.

Hope: And I love him… so much. Look…

[Thomas sighs]

[Hope sighs] This is really hard. Um, I’m sorry for everything. And, uh, I hope you understand me having to move on with my life. And I know that’s exactly what you’re gonna do. But… I want you to make me a promise. A lot a guys are gonna come calling. Pick the right one. And promise me you’ll make it work no matter what. Come here. Bye, Hope.

Hope: Bye.

[ light footsteps ]

Sharon: Oh, Cassie. [ knocking on door ]

Lucy: Oh, hi.

Sharon: Lucy, hi.

Lucy: Hi, Ms. Newman. I’m so sorry to bother you. I was just, uh, looking for your daughter. Is she around?

Daniel: So, any interviews today?

Heather: Nope.

Daniel: How about tomorrow?

Heather: Maybe. Uh, waiting to hear back.

Daniel: Well, they’ll– they’ll call. They will. Soon.

Heather: Or not. I, you know, not sure.

Daniel: Hey, where is that can-do attitude? Hm?

Heather: Maybe I can be a barista.

Daniel: I just think that, you know, the right opportunity is going to come along. You just haven’t found the perfect fit yet. And besides, who wouldn’t want to hire you?

Heather: So far, everybody.

Daniel: Listen, you are an amazing, kick-ass lawyer. Don’t you forget that.

Heather: Who’s drinking an iced coffee in a park on a work day. I don’t know. Maybe it’s a sign.

Daniel: A sign of what?

Heather: Maybe it’s time for me to go back to Portugal.

Audra: Hm. I’ll get you an autographed hard copy, if you like.

Nate: The woman of the hour. Please, uh, join me. That is, if you have the time.

Audra: Hm. For the man who toasted me with champagne and caviar last night, I guess I can spare a moment from my very busy and exciting schedule.

Nate: So, what’s on the agenda?

Audra: More press interviews than I can count. Staffing particulars. Final details on coordinating with and coalescing the companies in France under the Glissade umbrella, so we can hit the ground running.

Nate: Sounds like you already have. Where do I send the flowers?

Audra: 1123 Franklin Avenue.

Nate: That new state-of-the-art building?

Audra: Penthouse suite.

Nate: Of course. I’d expect nothing less.

Audra: So, uh, what did you think about the article?

Nate: You’re officially an A-list mover and shaker, Audra. I’m impressed.

Audra: As you should be.

Nate: I also read the press release. You know, for a woman who’s so focused on every detail, it’s funny. You failed to mention that you’d be partnering up with another ex-lover. Fascinating.

Kyle: If you want a comment on Glissade, I’ll give you one. Prepare to be wowed. Sure. I’d love to sit down for an interview at some point in the future. Okay. Talk soon.

Summer: Is it true?

Kyle: What, not even a good morning? Congratulations on the new job? Although, you are kind of killing the vibe.

Summer: You’re moving and you didn’t tell me? If you think that I’m going to let you take Harrison away, you’re delusional.

Daniel: You want to leave Genoa City? I thought that things were good between us. Where– where is this coming from?

Heather: I meant, I’m not working, so it’s a good time to visit my dad.

Daniel: Oh. [ chuckling ]

Heather: Yeah.

Daniel: Oh, God. Good. Um, you had me worried there.

Heather: Really?

Daniel: Yeah.

Heather: Wh– why? Why would I want to leave the man of my dreams and our wonderful daughter and our beautiful, if slightly underfunded at the moment, life? Come on. We’ve worked too hard to get here. There’s absolutely nowhere else I’d rather be than sitting next to you in a park, drinking coffee on a work day.

Daniel: Well, it is pretty perfect. Minus the no jobs part.

Heather: Yeah. Minus that. But otherwise…

Daniel: You know, we could take these coffees and go back to the apartment. There are certain perks to being unemployed.

Heather: There are. And there’s nothing I’d like better.

Daniel: But?

Heather: But I am about to meet our wonderful daughter really soon. So, rain check?

Daniel: Uh-huh. Rain check. What’s up with your dad? Is– is he okay?

Heather: Yeah. I just, I haven’t seen him in a while and the last time I spoke to him on the phone, he seemed pretty lonely.

Daniel: Well, I think going to visit him is a great idea. I’ll miss you like crazy, obviously. But, you know, it is the summertime. Lucy’s done with school. I’m not really doing anything, obviously.

Heather: Mm-hmm.

Daniel: We can make this like a family trip. We could all go, see Paul, do some exploring. We could hit up Nazaré, catch some waves.

Heather: But since when do you surf?

Daniel: Since it’s like a bucket list thing of mine.

Heather: Okay. All right. I’m, uh, I’m all for it. But there is someone else in our family who has a vote, too, so.

Daniel: Ah, yes. Right. It’s gonna be tough to pull her away from town and away from fangirling over Faith Newman.

Heather: Yeah. But I remember when I was young and I wanted to hang out with the older girls. They just, they seemed so cool. You know, like, they have it together. And– and then the freedom? Oh, I wanted to be them and I could not wait to grow up fast enough to get there.

Daniel: Well, that’s not gonna happen to Lucy.

Heather: Oh, that’s so sweet. Full-on daddy denial.

Daniel: Stop. I just got my little girl back. There is no way I’m letting her grow up anytime soon.

Heather: Yeah. You don’t really get a choice, but I guess, uh, you’ll learn that the hard way, huh?

Daniel: I’m gonna learn it the hard way?

Heather: You’re gonna learn it the hard way. I’ll be here.

Sharon: Faith, uh, she’s not home right now. She went to a friend’s house. But come on in. I’m sure she will be home soon. Come in.

Lucy: Thank you. I, um, I knew I was taking a chance finding Faith at home. She’s so popular.

Sharon: Yeah, yeah, she does have a lot of friends. Everyone’s home from college, so they have a lot of catching up to do. Can I, um, get you a soda? Or some water?

Lucy: Oh, no, I– I’m okay. Thank you. I just, uh, I came to drop off this super cute bracelet I found at this vintage shop on Madison. I don’t know. I saw it, and it just kind of reminded me of Faith, so I got it for her.

Sharon: Oh, well, that’s so sweet. I’m sure she will love it.

Lucy: Oh, how cute. Is this Mariah when she was my age?

Sharon: Um, no, no, that, um, that’s Mariah’s sister, Cassie.

Lucy: I had no idea that Mariah had a twin.

Sharon: She died years ago in a car crash. She was 14.

Lucy: Oh, that’s, um, that’s terrible. I’m– I’m so sorry. You must think about her a lot.

Sharon: More than you could possibly know.

Kyle: Yeah, I was going to tell you.

Summer: When? After you’d moved?

Kyle: How do you even know?

Summer: Your mom told me.

Kyle: Of course, she did.

Summer: She wants me to convince you not to take Harrison away from here.

Kyle: And she knows how much you hate her, so she must be getting desperate.

Summer: She’s concerned, Kyle.

Kyle: No, she’s trying to run my life, which isn’t going to happen anymore now that I’m starting at Glissade.

Summer: Wait, Glissade is based in Paris. If you think that I’m going to let you take Harrison to France–

Kyle: I don’t know. Paris is kind of nice this time of year.

Summer: No, you cannot just be making unilateral decisions.

Kyle: Relax, I’m not moving Harrison to Paris. I’m just moving out of the house. Something I should have done a long time ago.

Summer: Why, though? This is Harrison’s home.

Kyle: Summer, do you have any idea what it’s like to live under the same roof as the woman who fired you and the father who stood by and did nothing?

Summer: You know what? I have an idea. How about we not make this all about you and instead we focus on our son?

Kyle: Yeah, that’s what I’m doing. Do you really think it’s healthy for Harrison to live in a house full of anger and resentment?

Summer: Kyle, that’s a dynamic that you helped create. This is the only home that Harrison has known since we got back to Genoa City. And it’s filled with all the people that love him most. His grandparents, Aunt Traci, Aunt Ashley, Mrs. Martinez. He’s happy here, Kyle. He feels safe.

Kyle: And he’ll get to decorate a whole new bedroom. I may even throw in a swimming pool. Ooh, and a puppy.

Summer: So, you’re going to bribe him?

Kyle: I’m kidding.

Summer: Yeah, I don’t think you’re taking this very seriously.

Kyle: You’re making too much of it. He’ll still go to the same school, have the same friends. Hell, you can still visit him at will. I figured you would appreciate the fact that you wouldn’t have to run into my mother anymore.

Summer: I cannot believe how selfish you are. I’m an adult. I can tolerate seeing Diane for the sake of continuity for our son. Why can’t you?

Sharon: She was pure joy. She was funny and smart and kind. She loved to draw. And she loved flowers and every four-legged creature in the world.

Lucy: Well, she sounds amazing.

Sharon: She was.

Lucy: Hello.

Faith: Hi.

Lucy: I hope you don’t mind me coming by like this. I just got this really cute bracelet and um, I thought you might like it. Um, the beads are jasper. They’re supposed to bring peace or something. I don’t know. I just thought they looked really pretty.

Faith: You got this for me?

Lucy: Gosh, is that weird? I’m so sorry. I just– I saw it and it reminded me of something that you were wearing the other day and I– I got it. I really didn’t mean to be weird.

Faith: No, it’s– it’s super thoughtful. I’m just surprised. Thank you.

Lucy: Then, uh, you like it?

Faith: I do. It even goes with my outfit.

Lucy: It does.

Faith: What were you guys doing? It looked like I was interrupting something.

Lucy: Oh, your mom was just telling me all about Cassie. I had no idea that Mariah had a twin until now.

Sharon: I explained that Cassie died years ago in a car crash.

Lucy: It’s the most terrible thing ever. I really can’t imagine anything worse.

Faith: Yeah. So, what’s up?

Lucy: Oh, um, I was just wondering if you could maybe hang out if you’re free.

Faith: We totally can, but I’ve got some stuff to do. Um, wanna meet up later?

Lucy: Yeah, that– that would be great. Just, um, text me when you’re free and I’ll come find you.

Faith: Sounds good. And thanks again for the bracelet.

Lucy: You’re welcome. Okay, I’ll– I’ll see you in a few.

Faith: Bye.

Sharon: Well, you definitely have a new fan.

Faith: She’s sweet. But, Mom, I’ve got to ask, why were you looking at Cassie’s scrapbook?

Sharon: Um… I was just, uh, thinking about her.

Faith: Is it my fault? Because of all those questions I was asking you and Dad the other day?

Kyle: Kids move to new schools, new houses, new states all the time and they’re not warped for life.

Summer: How many of those kids were just recently kidnapped and still have nightmares? Harrison already lost his mother to prison. Ashland died. You and I got a divorce. I mean, there’s been so much upheaval in his life already, Kyle.

Kyle: Harrison and I are thinking about this more like an adventure.

Summer: You are unbelievable.

Kyle: No, I am tired of having you in my face about a decision that’s not going to change. Harrison is excited about this move, so how about you just get on board and help him pick out some things for his new bedroom?

Summer: I cannot believe that you told Harrison about this before you talked to me about it.

Kyle: You don’t get a say about where I live anymore.

Summer: I get a say in where my son lives.

Kyle: Do you?

Summer: Really? So, you’re just going– You’re going to cut me out?

Kyle: Of course not. You’re the one hurling accusations and creating a problem where there isn’t.

Summer: I just, I don’t understand how you can be so dense.

Kyle: You know this lecturing me about how to behave is unbelievable. You barge in here unloading on me in self-righteous mommy mode when the truth is you refuse to agree with me about anything these days. It’s like your whole personality.

Summer: What Harrison needs right now is stability. And you refuse to see that. Or, you know what, I’m thinking maybe you actually just don’t care.

Kyle: That’s your opinion.

Summer: No, it’s what I’ve seen, Kyle. You would much rather be spending extra time with the babysitter or getting back into business with your ex-bed buddy, Audra, than doing what’s best for our son. And if that’s the kind of father that you want to be, then yes, I am going to do something about it.

Audra: I didn’t mention partnering with Kyle because it’s not a big deal.

Nate: Are you lying to me or to yourself?

Audra: You know, I liked you better last night.

Nate: All I’m saying is you had a relationship with Kyle that didn’t end well. Kind of like the one you had with Tucker. And now, you’re about to work side by side with the guy.

Audra: My relationship with Tucker ended very well for me. I mean, I wouldn’t be sitting on top of Glissade otherwise.

Nate: With Kyle Abbott?

Audra: I can handle Kyle.

Nate: You used to say that about Tucker.

Audra: Okay. Maybe I learned more than I care to admit from my time with Tucker. But I also used it to my advantage. As for Kyle, he couldn’t be more different than Tucker.

Nate: Not sure about that. They’re both rich, cocky, entitled. Wait. Kyle’s not this mystery investor, is he?

Audra: There’s no way Kyle could afford Glissade’s price tag out of his own pocket.

Nate: Then, if you needed a co-CEO so badly, why hire Kyle of all of the choices out there?

Audra: Having someone who’s run a cosmetics company that’s an industry leader is a huge asset to Glissade. So, maybe admire my business savvy for making such a smart hire.

Nate: I really do want to admire your business savvy, Audra, but Kyle, really? Look, I don’t care how much experience he has or how sparkly his resume is. Why hire a man you have such a complicated history with?

Audra: You know, if I didn’t know any better, I’d almost say you’re jealous.

Faith: I just, I hate if my nosiness of the past is making you think about Cassie. How much you miss her.

Sharon: Cassie is never far from my thoughts. But I will admit, our conversation did cause me to start thinking a little more about the past.

Faith: I’m sorry.

Sharon: There’s no reason to apologize. Or look at me like that. Really. Everything’s fine. Nothing to worry about.

Faith: Cassie’s scrapbook is out and you’re obviously not exactly happy.

Sharon: Okay. I’ll let you in on a little secret. Every once in a while, I need to have a good cry. Cassie was just so special and I don’t want to forget a moment we ever had together, so I– I look at her photos so that it will keep her memories fresh for me and– and it makes me feel connected to her.

Faith: I just, I hate seeing you sad. I– I still kind of feel responsible.

Sharon: Absolutely not. Okay, maybe Cassie has been on my mind a little bit more than usual lately, maybe, but that’s all. There’s nothing to be concerned about.

Faith: Okay. So, you’re good?

Sharon: I’m more than good. Thinking about Cassie, thinking about Cassie’s life and the joy that she brought us, that’s a good thing.

Nate: I am not jealous of Kyle.

Audra: Are you sure? You really wouldn’t want to be the one running Glissade with me, taking on the world together, showing the doubters what we can do?

Nate: I like what you did there. Avoiding my question. I’ll ask it again. Why Kyle, of all people?

Audra: He and I are not lovers anymore, if that’s what you’re actually fishing to hear.

Nate: Good. Wise decision.

Audra: Why is that?

Nate: Because you don’t want a repeat of the situation you had with Tucker. That’s why.

Audra: I learned my lesson, all right? I’m not putting myself in a vulnerable position like that ever again. At least not by mixing business and pleasure.

Nate: Then, why does it seem like this conversation has suddenly putting a damper on your big day?

Audra: Okay. You’re right. Things are not quite as ideal as I hoped.

Nate: Talk to me. What’s going on?

Audra: Well, it’s day one and I’m already under attack.

Kyle: You’re calling me a bad father. I would do anything and everything for my son. You know that.

Summer: Up to a point, apparently.

Kyle: I am really trying to be fair here. I have been thinking about what your brother said.

Summer: You saw my brother?

Kyle: Yes, we ran into each other.

Summer: Okay, what does this have to do with Daniel?

Kyle: He said I need to see things from your perspective.

Summer: You– you talked to him about me?

Kyle: You just want to be a part of Harrison’s life and that I should give you more compassion.

Summer: So, I’m needy now? Is that what you’re saying?

Kyle: Okay, maybe this is your way of trying to feel more involved. Pushing the custody issue. Trying to have a say in my decisions. Because you feel like you’re being squeezed out of Harrison’s life.

Summer: That’s ridiculous, Kyle.

Kyle: I am just saying, you don’t have to come at me with lawyers because you feel insecure about Claire or my professional decisions.

Summer: Do you see how you’re trying to make this my problem now? My concern has nothing to do with Claire. I know how important she is to Harrison, okay? This has to do with all the bad decisions that you’ve been making lately. Suddenly yanking our son out of his home? Getting back into business with Audra? That can only end in disaster, Kyle. You’re starting a war with Jack and Diane, Harrison’s grandparents. So yes, clearly, you are not putting his best interests first. You are practically handing me ammunition to win primary custody.

Kyle: Okay, you want what’s best for Harrison? Then, stop it with the threats. You want to come at me because you disapprove of the way I’m living my life? Bring it. I will be ready and I will win.

Summer: Oh, is that a threat?

Kyle: No, it’s a fact. You are not even Harrison’s biological mother. So, go after custody. You will fail. attack? Is it Tucker?

Audra: It’s nothing like that. This attack is coming directly from inside the C-suite.

Summer: I have been Harrison’s mother in every single way.

Kyle: But you’re not his biological mother.

Claire: Sorry.

Summer: Claire, um, you’re here. Is– is Harrison here?

Claire: I picked him up from camp early. He’s in the backyard. I just came in to make him a snack and I– I heard voices.

Kyle: The doctor’s appointment.

Summer: Don’t think you could have warned me that our son might be able to overhear us.

Kyle: You know his schedule as well as I do and you didn’t exactly give me a chance because you came in here swinging.

Claire: I can leave.

Summer: No, it’s… I need to get back to work. This conversation is not over.

Kyle: Hm. [ Kyle sighing ] Damn it! [ door slamming ] [ Claire sighing ]

Claire: I’m sorry for interrupting.

Kyle: Sorry you had to witness that.

Claire: Harrison and I just planted a little vegetable garden. We have radishes and peppers, but not the hot ones. And some tomatoes. He’s really excited about it. He’s telling Mrs. Martinez all about it.

Kyle: So, he didn’t hear us fighting?

Claire: No.

Kyle: There’s that.

Claire: Why don’t you come check it out? Get some fresh air.

Kyle: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I could do some air. Um, how about a walk? I don’t want my son to see me like this. Could you ask Mrs. Martinez if she can watch Harrison for a bit? Will you join me?

Claire: Of course, I’ll join you. [ Sharon sniffling ]

Heather: You know we’re going to be over-caffeinated, right?

Daniel: Sure. But, you know, the sugar is going to compensate for it.

Heather: Okay. Maybe you can get a job as a comic.

Daniel: Hm. Maybe not.

Heather: Maybe we need you to.

Daniel: Hey!

Summer: Hi. Um, can I talk to you? In private?

Heather: Yes, because I have to meet Lucy. Soon. So, I’ll catch up with you later.

Daniel: Sure. Sounds good.

Heather: Okay.

Daniel: Bye.

Heather: Bye. Good luck. Hi, Summer.

Summer: What were you thinking?

Daniel: About what?

Summer: You talked to Kyle about me?

Daniel: Yeah, that. Yeah. Yeah, I did.

Summer: Uh, do you want to walk me through how you thought that was a good idea?

Daniel: Well, I’m concerned. I know that you’re upset about his new job he’s taking, about how it might affect Harrison and I know how you feel about Claire. And last night I ran into him, totally unplanned, and I got to hear his side of the story.

Summer: And what, you thought you’d help by offering him advice on how to handle me?

Daniel: No, no, no, no. He was being a jerk. All I did was tell him that he should look at things from your point of view. That you love Harrison.

Summer: Daniel, you should have stayed out of it.

Daniel: I was just trying to help.

Summer: Your help made it seem like I’m being irrational. Like I’m overreacting to Kyle’s choices and how they will affect Harrison. Wait, is that what you think?

Daniel: Okay, listen, I think that you are upset. I think that Kyle has made some choices that you were unhappy with, and I get that, but jumping straight to a raging custody battle without trying to talk it out? I mean, it– it seems like a mom move.

Summer: Seriously? You too?

Daniel: What is that supposed to mean?

Summer: I did talk to Mom and my dad about this and they suggested I not get lawyers involved.

Daniel: Look at that. Too extreme for Mom. That doesn’t tell you something?

Summer: What am I supposed to do? If Kyle’s not going to listen to me, what choice do I have?

Daniel: I don’t know. You could choose to take a step back, and take a breath, and just let reason prevail.

Summer: Daniel, this is not just about Kyle getting into business with somebody who’s going to bring nothing but chaos into his life, okay? Did Kyle tell you that he’s planning on taking Harrison out of the only home that he’s known since we’ve been in Genoa City?

Daniel: He did not.

Summer: Yeah! Because Kyle is only thinking about Kyle right now. He’s ripping Harrison out of a home where he has grandparents who dote on him, and all of these people who love him, and where he actually feels safe. All because Kyle is fighting with his parents. So no, I don’t feel like I’m being unreasonable when I’m just looking out for my son’s well-being.

Daniel: You can’t talk about stability in one breath, and then talk about dragging your son through a custody battle in the next. I went through that as a kid and it was an absolute nightmare. I don’t think for one second that’s what you want for your son, and you know what it did to my relationship with Mom. You really want to risk that?

Claire: It’s a beautiful day.

Kyle: Hey, um… Look, I– I feel like a bit of an ass for what you walked in on earlier.

Claire: Don’t worry about it.

Kyle: Yeah, Summer and I need to learn to tone it down. At least when Harrison’s around. Probably in general. [ Claire sighing ]

Claire: People disagree.

Kyle: Eh, this is turning into a full-blown battle. Look, we both want what’s best for Harrison, but we have two completely different ideas on what that means.

Claire: So, the custody agreement?

Kyle: Am I moving us out of the house? Am I working with Audra Charles?

Claire: Yeah, you did mention that Summer had an issue with her. Your… How did you put it? Your tumultuous past?

Kyle: Which has nothing to do with Harrison. Look, these days, Summer looks at everything as a threat to Harrison’s happiness. Or maybe she’s feeling a lack of control, and that’s why she’s pushing for a new custody arrangement. Making me the bad guy in the process. I don’t know, it’s ironic that all this tension she’s stirring up is not good for Harrison either.

Claire: It does take two to stir things up.

Kyle: Okay, okay, yeah, maybe– maybe I have been a little hard-headed or a little difficult, but I really do want to find some compassion where Summer’s concerned. I mean, even you called me on it earlier, a couple weeks ago maybe. I– I’m trying to see things from her perspective. Unfortunately, our arguments are just getting louder and more frequent. We’re even further apart.

Claire: It doesn’t help when one of the people that Summer has a problem with walks into the middle of things.

Nate: And you didn’t lead with this? All your talk about being able to handle Kyle, and he’s already got the knives out.

Audra: All I know is that he’d prefer to be running Glissade without me. And now that you know, I could use your advice.

Nate: Really? Not sure I should chime in here, Audra.

Audra: I trust you, Nate. As a friend and as someone who’s no stranger to corporate intrigue.

Nate: Well, I do have one idea about how to deal with Kyle Abbott.

Audra: I’m all ears.

Nate: Fire his ass before he takes you down. udra: I would like nothing more than to fire Kyle. But that can’t happen. At least not right now.

Nate: Why the hell not?

Audra: I can’t fire Kyle because he was handpicked for the job by my investor.

Nate: Oh, my… You gotta be kidding me. What happened to being able to run the company as you see fit, Audra?

Audra: With one caveat.

Nate: Kyle.

Audra: Saying no wasn’t an option, so I have to make it work.

Nate: Are you sure Kyle and this mysterious investor of yours aren’t somehow in this together, using you?

Audra: Not a chance.

Nate: How can you be so sure?

Audra: My investor was the one who warned me about Kyle, that he wants me out.

Nate: This investor. It would be helpful to know who this mysterious person is, Audra.

Audra: I can’t take the risk of telling you.

Nate: Even though you trust me. I hate to say this, Audra, but this venture might be more trouble than even you can handle.

Kyle: Claire, do not apologize for walking in on Summer and me. None of this is about you. Okay, maybe it’s a little about you, but you were one of the most amazing things to happen in Harrison’s life. Especially given what he’s been through. If Summer can’t see the positive effect you’re having on him, that’s her issue, not yours.

Claire: The way you defend me and your kindness means more to me than you know.

Kyle: And you’re a good friend. Especially given I don’t have much of a support system these days. Claire, I’m glad you’re in Harrison’s life. And mine.

Summer: No, of course I don’t want to put Harrison through a custody battle. But Kyle keeps on making decision after decision that’s not in Harrison’s best interest. So, if I have to fight for my son, I’m going to.

Daniel: I think you should try and have a real conversation. I mean, up until recently, you guys had the whole co-parenting thing figured out, so everybody knows it’s possible. Look, no drama, no yelling, just Harrison front and center.

Summer: Daniel, how am I supposed to talk to a man who’s made it clear that he will weaponize the fact that I’m not Harrison’s biological mother? Does that sound like somebody who’s willing to sit down and talk?

Daniel: I just think you’re both running hot. You know, everybody’s emotional. Nobody is putting Harrison first.

Summer: Says the guy that practically bailed on his own daughter.

Daniel: Okay, no, no, that’s not fair.

Summer: No, you’re out of line.

Sharon: What’s going on here?

Summer: I know what I’m doing and it’s what’s right for everybody.

Daniel: You keep pushing and you are going to regret it.

Summer: Stop it! Stop interfering. Stop giving advice to Kyle and to me.

Daniel: Oh, my God. Family, right? [ chuckling ]

Sharon: It happens. Just hope everything’s okay.

Daniel: Me too.

Sharon: Actually, I’m glad I ran into you.

Daniel: You are?

Sharon: Yeah, um, Lucy stopped by to see Faith.

Daniel: Yeah, uh, she is very excited at the prospect of having an older friend. Hope she wasn’t a bother.

Sharon: Oh, not at all. I just wanted you to know that she saw my scrapbook photos of Cassie, and it was clear that she didn’t know anything about the history.

Daniel: What did you tell her?

Sharon: I only said that Cassie died in a car crash. I thought it would be best that you’re aware in case Lucy asks more questions.

Daniel: You know, that night, it, um, still haunts me. All these years… it never goes away.

Sharon: For any of us.

Lucy: Oh, Mom, I, um, I went to Ms. Newman’s to see Faith and give her that cute bracelet that we found at the vintage store. She totally loved it.

Heather: Of course, she did.

Lucy: You know, um, before Faith came home, Ms. Newman had this scrapbook out. All these pictures of Mariah’s twin sister, Cassie. She seemed really sad. I felt sorry for her.

Heather: Cassie’s death was terribly tragic. It’s taken your dad a long time to get past what happened.

Daniel: I appreciate you not telling Lucy more about the accident. I don’t know if she’s ready to face knowing the truth about
