Li: I respect your dedication to your patients, but considering everything you and steffi have been through lately, my advice? Call it a night and go be with your wife.

Eric: I know there’s a lot more food in the kitchen. I just don’t want this to go low, all right?

Zende: I still can’t wrap my head around it. I mean, look at him. How energized he is, how vital and full of life.

Ridge: If you look a little closer, you can see he’s failing.

Zende: We still have time with him, though, right?

Ridge: I wouldn’t waste any.

Eric: This gives me so much pleasure to see the two of you here tonight.

Katie: Well, there’s no place we’d rather be. This is the only game in town.

Carter: You got that right.

Eric: You know what else gives me pleasure is knowing that you’re my friend and… and more than employees. You’re– you’re part of this family. You know that.

Hope: Well, this is certainly going to be a night to remember.H, and this might be the last time that I get to spend time with my grandfather. I just– I don’t know–

Hope: You have to get through this, okay? Because it’s what he wants, and this might be your last chance to give it to him.

Eric: I love seeing my family all dressed up like this. It’S… it’s really wonderful. I wanted to say something to the two of you. Bridget: And not to be able to wrap my arms around my dad and tell him what he means to me and how grateful I am for everything that he’s done for all of us? How my heart’s just breaking in a million–

Steffy: Oh, granddad. I’m so sorry.

Eric: Wha– sorry about what? Finn’s absence. I don’t know why he’s not here.

Eric: He probably has some kind of an emergency. It’s kind of– it’s-it’s a– it happens when you’re a doctor.

Steffy: I know, but I really wanted– I want him here.

Eric: You married a remarkable man, you know?

Eric: I can see how happy he makes you. That’s all I want for my beautiful granddaughter. That’s all I want.

Finn: It’s never a question.

Li: It can’t wait? This is clearly an important night for steffy and her family.

Brooke: You’re doing eric proud. You’re giving him everything he wants and needs to make this transition as easy as possible.

Donna: Yeah. What am I gonna do when he’s gone?

Zende: Granddad looks like he’s really enjoying himself.

Carter: Yeah. He’s in his element. Eric has the right to go out the way he wants. He’s earned it.

Ridge: I’m gonna miss him.

All: Yes.

Eric: All right, come on, let’s kick it up a notch. All right, what do we need? Thomas, a forrester martini for me, if you will. And, zende, uh, you’re in charge of music.

Zende: On it. I’m on it.

Eric: Come on.

Donna: You sure?

Eric: Huh?

Donna: You’re sure?

Eric: Yeah. We need some music. I want to dance with you. I want to have you in my arms one last time.

[ Phone vibrating ]

Finn: Hey, babe.

Steffy: Hey, what’s going on? Are you on your way?

Finn: Sorry, I’m still at the hospital.

Steffy: What are you doing?

Finn: I’m just, I’m finishing up some work. I’m-I’m sorry. It’s– it’s important.

Steffy: Just please get here.

Finn: I promise, as soon as I can.

[ Steffy sighs ]

Thorne: Hey, is everything all right?

Steffy: Yeah. I just wish my husband would hurry up and get here.

Thomas: Thank you for being here with me tonight. I don’t know how I’d get through this without you.

Hope: Well, we’re helping each other.

Thomas: Look at him. Every time I do, it… makes me want to cry.

Hope: I know. But we can’T. We have to stay strong for him.

Thomas: And for each other.

Hope: That too.

Carter: At least we can say we gave eric the celebration he wanted.

Katie: Love and laughter right here in one room.

Carter: It’ll never be the same once he’s gone.

Katie: Well, let’s not think about that right now. Let’s just be grateful that he’s here.

Rj: You know, I’m just realizing. Nobody wanted this party, and it turns out it’s exactly what everyone needed. They just needed to come together in granddad’s name.

Luna: Well, I’m honored to be included.

Rj: Get used to it.

Brooke: Some party, huh?

Ridge: You can say that again.

Brooke: You all right?

Ridge: Yeah. He’s the best man I know. Whatever he needs, whatever he wants… I’m gonna make sure he gets it.

Eric: What’s the matter?

[ Donna gasps, eric groans ]

Donna: Eric!

Ridge: Dad, you okay?

Eric: Yeah. Yeah, I’m okay. It’s the, uh, champagne talking I guess.

[ Eric, donna chuckle ] I’m okay. Guess I’m gotta rethink that martini order. Uh, zende, turn off the– cut the music off, will you, please? Uh, everybody, uh, come here. Come here. Gather round. Come on. You didn’t think you were gonna get away with not having cut the music off, will you, please? Uh, everybody, uh, come here. Come here. Gather round. Come on. You didn’t think you were gonna get away with not having a little speech of mine. This is exactly what I needed and what I wanted. It’s a dream come true. Seeing all your beautiful faces, smiling and happy.

[ Chuckling ]

Eric: Thank you. You have no idea what it means to me. I know I hit you pretty hard. It was a big surprise to say, “there’s a party. Hurry up. Thorne: I know. I’m glad you called, though. Hopped the plane as soon as I could.

Ridge: Well, you were missed around here.

Thorne: I can see not much has changed. Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight at dad’s party.

Ridge: Yeah, about that.

Thorne: You wouldn’t tell me over the phone, ridge. What is it?

Brooke: Right, well, for what it’s worth, you both look beautiful.

Katie: Well, so do you. I know donna was really happy that we rallied.

Hope: It feels strange. I mean, it feels sad.

Katie: I know. Normally, we’re getting all dressed up because of something fun and festive.

Brooke: We have to make it fun, festive. We have to make it a joyous celebration for eric.

Eric: You’re beautiful, you– you’re an absolute vision.

Donna: This ol’ thing?

[ Both laughing ] You like it? Okay, now we have to get you all spiffed up and get the rest of your outfit on.

Eric: Yeah. You’re right. It takes a little longer to get me all together than it used to.

Brooke: Thankfully, bridget’s on her way from new york. I just dread telling her about her father.

Hope: Well, we’ll all be there to support her.

Katie: And thorne, too, I– I saw him earlier in the hallway.

Brooke: Yeah, I’m glad he was able to take an earlier flight. I think ridge is telling him as we speak.

Thorne: Well, kristen, felicia and rick are on that safari in africa.

Ridge: Yeah, I know. They’re not going to make it back in time.

Thorne: Well, why did dad change his plans?

Ridge: That’s what I want to talk to you about.

Ridge: I guess there’s no easy way to tell you this. Dad is dying.

Zende: Maybe I’m in denial, but I assumed we’d have more time with him.

Luna: Eric’s condition is worse than it looks.

Carter: Yeah, he just covered it fairly well.

Zende: Granddad’s been here working on his new line. He’s been in great spirits. He’s been cracking jokes.

Carter: Zende, you saw him at his best. I did too. But his condition’s extremely grave.

Thomas: It’s clear that he doesn’t think he has long to live.

Carter: A goodbye party.

Hope: Okay, so katie went back to the house to help donna with eric, ridge is having a few of us meet here, thorne’s already here and now we’re just waiting on–

Bridget: There you are.

Brooke: Bridget.

Bridget: I’ve been looking all over for you.

Brooke: Oh, honey. So good to see you.

Bridget: You too. [ Laughs ]

Bridget: My little sis, it has been a little too long.

Brooke: Little?

Hope: I’m so happy you were able to make it.

Bridget: Me too. What is this occasion, though? It’s clearly not dad’s birthday. It’s the launch of his new line, right?

Brooke: Uh, I wish.

Bridget: Mom, what– what is that look about?

Thorne: Dad’s–

Ridge: Sorry, thorne. Sorry I have to tell you like that.

Thorne: Why didn’t he tell me? Why am I just finding out about this now?

Ridge: He doesn’t want anyone to know.

Thorne: Well, I’m not just anyone, ridge. I’m his son.

Ridge: Didn’t tell me either. Or brooke. As far as he’s concerned, there’s just a handful of people that know about his condition.

Thorne: So, you all are acting like you don’t know?

Ridge: Now you have to do the same.

Thorne: I don’t think I can do that, ridge.

Ridge: Hey, those are dad’s wishes.

Thorne: So, I’m just– I’m just supposed to let my dad go and– and not say anything, ridge?

[ Steffy sighs ]

Thorne: I’m– I’m not prepared for this. I’m not ready to let dad go.

Bridget: There’s no known cure.

Brooke: I know this is devastating news and I’m sorry. I– I didn’t want this to be true. I just wish I could take your pain away.

Hope: Me too. I’m so sorry, sis.

Bridget: I was on the plane today. I got so excited to see you all. Especially daddy. I just really missed him. I really missed him. Now, you’re telling me he’s horribly sick with this disease. And on top of it, we have to put up a front? Like, I’m not allowed to know about it?

Hope: We’re struggling with it too and none of us are happy having to keep up this charade.

Bridget: This is ridiculous.

Brooke: No, this is, um– this is what eric wants. He wants us to all come together as a family and love each other and just have this big, joyous occasion and celebration.

Bridget: A celebration? What?

[ Bridget sobbing ] And they moved the party up. Mommy. Doesn’t have much time, does he? What did they tell him? I don’t know. [ Sobbing ]

Hope: It’s progressing faster than any of us realize.

Bridget: [ Sobbing ] Why didn’t anyone tell me? Oh, daddy. No!

Brooke: I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.

Bridget: How long does he have?

Katie: This all looks good.

Eric: So, do we have everything we need? We have enough wine?

Donna: Even the bottle of wine from your wedding with stephanie. You said you wanted to save it for a special occasion.

Eric: Well, here it is.

Katie: Here it is.

[ Eric laughs ]

Eric: I can’t wait to see this room filled with all the people I love. My friends and my family. A wonderful, wonderful party. Memories etched into my soul.

Bridget: Mom told me everything you’ve done for my dad. Thank you.

Rj: Of course. Of course.

Thorne: Yes. Thank you. Thank you both very much.

Rj: He’s going to be so happy the two of you are here.

Thorne: Yeah, well, there’s no other place I’d rather be than right here with my family.

Carter: Bridget, thorne, my heart goes out to you guys. Well, all of you, really. Eric is such an inspiration.

Ridge: All right, good. He’s all dressed up. So now we can go to a party that we shouldn’t be having, huh? This is going to take a toll on dad, you know that. It’s going to take a toll on all of us. So, let me ask you. If there’s anyone here who can’t pretend that everything is fine, anyone who thinks they can’t hide their grief, then maybe they should stay here ’cause tonight is– is not about grief and sadness. It’s about celebrating a great man, okay?

Ridge: Dad is getting weaker. We can all see that. And he’s going to need us as a source of power. So, this is the performance of a lifetime.

Thorne: I can’t promise that I won’t break down when I see him.

Bridget: Yeah, I agree with thorne, it–

Ridge: Let it out. Let the tears fall. Do it now.

Bridget: Are you serious? This is absolutely ridiculous. How is this world of make believe healthy? I mean, honestly, mom, this fantasy land where everyone is supposed to pretend that everything is okay? Dad is dying, ridge.

Ridge: You think this is what I want? This is what he wants. There’s going to be plenty of time to mourn him when he’s not watching us. So, right now, we need to do this for him.

Brooke: We need to remember how important this is for eric.

Ridge: It’s not going to be easy for any of us. We can do it. We have to. We’re going to bring joy and happiness, look at me. Joy and happiness for him. We’re gonna celebrate him. Can you do it?

Bridget: Of course.

Ridge: Game faces.

Bridget: Okay.

Katie: I just asked the server to come out with more so when everyone gets here, champagne out of the gates.

Carter: It’s something to consider, but, hope, you do realize this shift in priorities is only temporary? I mean, it’s only in– I’m sorry, ridge. I was only talking about eric’s collection.

Ridge: It’s okay. You’re not the only one thinking about his prognosis.

Steffy: How long do we have to keep up with this charade?

Ridge: He doesn’t want anyone to know he’s sick.

Steffy: He’s dying. So what are we supposed to do? Just have a party and pretend like everything’s okay?

Ridge: Well, he hasn’t set a date, so maybe we can change his mind.

Katie: This is crazy. You can’t throw a party today.

Brooke: Honey, you said yourself, eric passed out last night.

Donna: Yeah.

Katie: Did he lose consciousness?

Donna: He, um– he just collapsed into my arms.

Brooke: I’m sorry. You must have been terrified.

Donna: Honestly, I didn’t even know what was happening. I mean, he’s on this chaise lounge and– and suddenly he’s on the floor, and I– I ran over, and called his name, and– and nothing. And I just thought that this is it, this is it. This is how I lose my honey bear, it’s over.

Katie: But you didn’t, he’s– he’s okay.

Donna: Yeah, I– I mean, he’s– he’s not okay. He’s– he’s taking in oxygen. It just– it just makes it easier for him to– you know, easier for him.

Katie: He’s struggling.

Donna: Yeah, I– I moved him over to the guest house because, um, you know, there’s no stairs. It’s just easier. I– I really have to get back to him, I really do.

Brooke: Okay. Okay. We’re gonna call the caterers, and we’re gonna postpone this for another time.

Donna: No, no, you– you need to call everybody and tell them that the party’s happening today.

Katie: You can postpone this party until eric has a chance to recover.

Donna: He might not, katie. He hasn’t said it yet, but– but maybe there’s a reason why he’s so anxious to move this party up, okay? I– I really just have to get back to him right now.

Brooke: Okay, just tell him we’re thinking about him.

Donna: Okay. I will.

Katie: You can’T.

Donna: Oh, I’m sorry, I’m–

Katie: But we are going to pray for him whether he wants us to or not.

Donna: Thank you, so you’ll– you’ll tell everybody that it’s happening.

Brooke: Donna–

Donna: No, stop. Please. Please, for me. For the man I love. Look, do this for eric. Do it for him, because… this could be his last request. Okay? So, please, we cannot let him down.

Ridge: Well, maybe there’s still time to talk dad out of this celebration.

Hope: I don’t know. He seems pretty set on it.

Ridge: Maybe get rj involved.

Carter: Get him to convince eric to conserve his strength.

Steffy: If rj could have talked him out of it, he would have. I– I can’t just do this. Plaster a big smile on my face, and toast to a future when we know that granddad doesn’t even have one. I don’t think we need a big flashy event. We don’t even know how much time granddad has left.

[ Door opens ]

Eric: Hey.

Donna: Hey, I just, uh, brought you a few things over that I thought you might need from the house.

Eric: That’s okay. I’m not dead yet.

Donna: Eric, please, I– I told you that that’s not funny, it’s–

Eric: Yeah. All right. I’m sorry. You’re right. It’s not funny. I was just imagining the farewell party for me tonight.

Steffy: I don’t understand. Granddad’s a fighter. Why isn’t he fighting now?

Carter: Steffy, eric’s signing these documents doesn’t mean he’s giving up.

Steffy: Seems pretty clear to me he’s planning to die.

Hope: And also wants us to throw him a party. I don’t know, he seems a little scattered.

Steffy: Okay, so everyone knows what’s going on. Hope, carter.

Ridge: Zende. He kept asking me why he wasn’t the one working with granddad. He has the experience, he has the training. I didn’t want him to feel like he did something wrong, so I told him.

Steffy: Oh, my gosh. This is getting out of hand. The whole design team knows?

Hope: How long until someone slips up, and eric finds out that we’ve been lying to him this entire time?

Ridge: He’s not gonna find out, but it’d be a lot easier if we didn’t have this party. Hey, I texted you. You– you were at dad’s house, right? How is he?

Brooke: We didn’t get to see him.

Katie: He was resting in the guest house.

Ridge: The guest house? Why?

Brooke: It’s safer for him to be on the first floor right now.

Katie: He fell yesterday.

Carter: He what?

Ridge: Is he all right? Is he hurt?

Brooke: Uh, no. He’s okay. I mean, donna did say he’s on oxygen right now.

Ridge: He’s on oxygen?

Katie: Not full time. Just as needed. But things are kind of in flux, so he shouldn’t be going up and down stairs.

Steffy: Okay. That’s it.

Ridge: We can’t play this game anymore. Pretending that he’s okay. He’s in bed with oxygen? We’re not having this party.

Brooke: Ridge, come on. I know how you feel. I’m worried too.

Katie: But this party is happening. According to eric, this party is happening this afternoon.

[ Eric coughing ]

Donna: Eric, eric, please you need to rest, you– you shouldn’t be hosting a party tonight.

Eric: No, we can– I can. We will.

Donna: If you do, you know that everyone is gonna know that something is wrong.

Eric: No, no, I feel better. I feel– I feel better already.

Donna: If you wanna call your– your family, and have them come over, fine. If you– if you want to tell them the truth, then that’s fine.

Eric: No. No. I– I don’t– I don’t want this to be a wake. I want it to be a celebration. I don’t want them to be sad. Donna, look, I’ve– I’ve– I’ve had– I’ve had some time to reflect and to think about myself as an artist, as– as a father, as a man. And I– I wanna share that with them. I wanna share that with all of them. One– one last soiree.

Donna: Yeah.

Eric: Did katie tell them it’s tonight?

Donna: Yeah.

Eric: Yeah. I don’t want anyone to know about this. The house is ready?

Donna: Yeah, I just have, um, a few more things to do. Are you sure you wanna do this, eric?

Eric: And the house? That– that wonderful big old house. Where so many wonderful things have happened. My whole life and weddings and– and holidays and– and parties. Brooke and ridge met in that house.

Donna: [ Laughs ] Oh, yeah. They did.

Eric: I’ll be moving to another beautiful house soon. Beautiful crystal castle in the sky. I’m not afraid to look forward to that. It doesn’t scare me. But I really wanna be able to look back right now, and look back and– and– and remember things. And experience the things I did.

Eric: Today is mine, ridge.

Ridge: Grand finale, right?

Ridge: What do you mean this party is this afternoon?

Brooke: It’s all arranged.

Steffy: Except telling the guests.

Katie: Well, donna wants us to spread the word.

Steffy: Well, donna has to talk granddad out of this.

Ridge: Is she pushing this?

Brooke: No. No, this is eric. He is determined to go through with this party.

Katie: I think he feels like he’s running out of time.

Brooke: And he could be.

Ridge: Well… if this party’s today, I gotta make some phone calls.

Donna: I know you saw it. I know you saw it too.

Steffy: He wants to be here. He wants to be with us.

Brooke: Just give him a chance.

Rj: My granddad and I, we were– we were a great team and it’s because when we were in that groove, he taught me just how to have fun and to just– just to love exactly what we were doing, you know? There’s this side to him that everybody sees that’s the showman, the successful businessman, the entertainer, you know? It’s– it’s what you’ve probably seen, but there’s also a side to him– he’s like quiet and he’s very funny. He’s– he’s a funny guy.

[ Laughs ] I don’t think– I don’t think a lot of people get to see that.

Poppy: I know this is a difficult time for you, rj.

Rj: I just– I just wish I knew what was going on at the hospital.

Luna: Hey, I’m sure your parents will call if there’s any news.

Poppy: It warms my heart hearing how much you care about your grandfather. All the kind things you’ve said about him.

Rj: I’ve meant every single one of them. He’s my hero, and I just hope I’ve done him proud.

Rj: No. No, please. It’s– it’s fine. I, um… I don’t know. I’ve– I’ve plenty of family there. If something happens, they’ll tell me, right? I don’t wanna be in the way of the doctors. I mean… I do. I– I do– I– I do want to be there. It’s just I don’t want to accept the fact that that party was the last time that I saw my granddad. I’m not okay with it. I don’t accept it.

Poppy: It sounds like it was a beautiful night for him.

Luna: Yeah.

Poppy: With his family.

Rj: I just wish there was something someone could do to save him.

Bridget: Excuse me, ma’am, I’m dr. Bridget forrester. My father, eric forrester, is here.

Nurse: Yes. I was instructed to begin comfort care. I’m sorry.

Thorne: Comfort care? What is comfort care?

Bridget: They’re taking him off life support.

Thorne: What? Are they just gonna let him die?

Brooke: Please, let finn do what he can.

Rj: Granddad’s the foundation of this family. This entire company is built on– we’re– we’re all standing on his shoulders here.

Luna: He’s such a class act. Anyone who’s ever met eric forrester has been touched by his greatness.

Rj: He has a very specific way of making people feel seen and– and heard that’s really special about him.

Luna: It’s ’cause he treats everyone the same, no matter who you are. I mean, from lowly interns like myself to countesses and famous actors.

Poppy: Countesses? Wow! My little girl’s growing up.

Luna: Yeah, well, eric’s one of the biggest reasons why I feel so included and so comfortable here. I mean, he’s a world-famous fashion designer, you know? He could be intimidating for all he cares, but he’s not. He’s the exact opposite.

Rj: Exactly.

Poppy: Well, I think eric sounds absolutely wonderful and I can’t wait to meet him someday.

Rj: I hope you do.

Luna: You’d really like him.

Poppy: I’d appreciate anyone who’s kind and welcoming to my daughter.

Luna: He’s the sweetest. You actually remind me a lot of your grandfather.

Steffy: I trust my husband. He’s in very good hands.

Brooke: Bridget spoke with finn, and he’s allowing her to be in the or with eric.

Thorne: What happened? First, you’re texting bridget and me to come over here, and then a nurse tells me that dad’s going on comfort care and now they’ve rolled him into surgery. Someone please fill me in here.

Ridge: Dad gave me his medical power of attorney.

Thorne: Great. So then, you can make decisions on his behalf, ridge.

Ridge: And he made it very clear he wants to die with dignity. He doesn’t want to be in a coma.

Donna: Ridge, uh, instructed finn to take your dad off life support.

Thorne: You did what? You’re just willing to let dad die, ridge?

Steffy: Thorne, dad is under a lot of pressure, right now.

Thorne: I don’t care what pressure he’s under. He gave you power of attorney under the assumption his illness wasn’t treatable, ridge.

Brooke: Thorne, he’s just trying to do what eric wants.

Ridge: It’s okay, it’s all right, I get why he’s angry. It doesn’t change the fact that dad doesn’t want to spend the rest of his days plugged into machines. How many times has he said it? He doesn’t want to be in a hospital, he doesn’t want to be around doctors. This is his worst nightmare.

[ Monitors beeping ]

Finn: The cells produce unique receptors on their surface, and regenerated t-cells get infused back into the patient.

Bridget: That’s very cutting edge. I’ve never heard of the two being performed together.

Finn: It’s only been done a handful of times. Scalpel. The hope is that– incision. Combining the harvested stem cells and the transplant, we’ll have something to celebrate. Retractor.

Finn: When I first found out about eric’s diagnosis, I started looking at other treatment options. Sponge. There weren’t any, but I spoke to some hematologists overseas who specialize in immunotherapy– retractor. Made sure we had the right equipment, all the right meds, and here we are, on a wing and a prayer.

Bridget: You’re doing great, dad. You’re doing good.

Finn: Look, we’re gonna take our time with this, right? I don’t want any complications. Vitals?

Nurse: Stable.

Bridget: I can’t thank you enough for doing this, finn.

Finn: Well, don’t thank me yet.

Bridget: No. I’m just very appreciative of your commitment to trying to save my dad. Steffy is very lucky to have you as her husband.

Brooke: Thorne, I’m sorry, but you just got in town. We’ve been struggling with this for a while. It’s been extremely painful for all of us.

Thorne: I can imagine, but, you know, if you would have opened up to me sooner, ridge–

Ridge: Me open up to you? He was keeping it to himself.

Donna: I’m sorry, thorne. Eric only wanted a few people to know and…

Thorne: I get that, okay? I get it. But power of attorney or not, ridge, I am shocked that you’re just willing to let our dad die. We have siblings. Chris and felicia and rick. He hasn’t seen them. They haven’t been able to say goodbye.

Ridge: Well, the fact is, he might die on that operating table this may not work.

Thorne: I understand.

Ridge: You understand, do you? You understand what quality of life means to him? Quality of life. He wants to sing, he wants to dance, he wants to create. Let’s hope that the man that walks out of that operating theater is– is gonna be someone that we recognize. Otherwise, god help us.

Brooke: I know it’s difficult but let’s all be patient. Let them do their job.

Thorne: My stomach’s in knots.

Steffy: I updated zende and thomas. They know granddad’s in surgery.

Brooke: I was gonna reach out to rj and– and hope and katie. I just wish we had good news.

Donna: Yeah, well, we’re going to have good news, brooke. We– we’re gonna have good news. I need more time with him.

Ridge: We all want that. There’s no guarantees.

Brooke: It is a gamble, but at least we’re doing everything we can to help eric.

Thorne: What are they doing to dad, anyway? I mean, is– is it dangerous?

Donna: Finn didn’t, uh– he honestly didn’t really have time to explain, any– anything.

Thorne: But it’s experimental? As in unproven, untested.

Brooke: It’s complicated.

Steffy: One aspect is rebuilding granddad’s blood using healthy cells. It’s kind of like immunotherapy. But finn is an incredible doctor. He’ll do everything he can to save him.

Thorne: You’re putting a lot of confidence in finn. I mean, dad’s life is literally in his hands.

Donna: He’s gonna make it. Okay? Eric is– he’s gonna pull through.

Bridget: So, the hope is these manipulated cells attach to a particular protein?

Finn: That’s right.

Ridge: A party, huh? That’s the last thing you should be thinking about right now.

Brooke: I agree. But–

Ridge: No, I get– I get why he wants to– I get all that but his priorities are all wrong. He should be at the hospital right now, right? He almost collapsed. He should do what his doctor says and do those tests because who knows? Maybe we’ll get some good news, maybe… we’ll find he’ll stick around– he’ll stick around a little longer.

Donna: Eric? Eric?

Rj: Hey, what’s up?

Zende: You know, this used to be my office?

Rj: I thought everyone used it.

Zende: Everybody does, but it’s where I did most of my sketching.

Rj: Okay, well, I’ll work somewhere else. How’s that?

Zende: Your latest?

Rj: Yeah. What do you think?

Zende: Honest opinion, you got a lot to learn.

Rj: I never said I didn’t have a lot to learn, you know. I spent a lot of time with granddad.

Zende: Seriously? You’re gonna throw that in my face again?

Rj: I’ve never thrown that in your face, man.

Zende: Whatever, you got to admit, you haven’t really paid your dues around here.

Rj: What, like– like you have? Is that…

Zende: Remind me, what design school did you attend?

Rj: We really doing this? Come on, you know the answer to that one.

Zende: What’s a dolman sleeve?

Rj: Zende.

Zende: You ever hear of a knife pleat?

Rj: No, I haven’t heard of a knife pleat.

Zende: Both are designs from the 1920s to the 1950s. Way before our time. But the kind of thing they teach you in design school.

Rj: Cool, I’m starting to get your point. What do you want from me?

Zende: Look, rj, no disrespect, but you have to admit, they rolled out the red carpet for you here. And it’s all because you’re the golden child. Ridge and brooke’s son.

Brooke: What’s going on? Problems at international?

Ridge: No, it’s just rafael wanting to know about dad and the collection and possible launch date. If only he knew what was really going on.

Brooke: There would be an outpouring of love and concern.

Ridge: Yeah. But instead we’re here talking about a party, right? He should be at a hospital, taking some tests, but no. That’s what he wants to do. I should be with my dad making sure he’s all right. Instead he wants me to dress up in a monkey suit and pretend everything is fine.

Brooke: Okay. I– I know. It’s okay.

[ Knocking on door ]

Hope: What is it? Is it eri has something– has something happened?

Brooke: Oh, no, honey. Not the way that you mean. I mean, eric appears to be in stable condition.

Ridge: Yeah, so stable wants to have a party.

Donna: Eric? Can you hear me? Please, answer me, answer me.

[ Donna sobs, gasps ] No, no, no, no, no, no!

[ Donna gasps ]

[ Eric mumbles indistinctly ]

Donna: Eric! Teddy bear!

[ Donna gasps ] Sweetheart! Thank god! Oh, god. Oh, sweet, sweet.

[ Donna crying ]

Eric: What are you doing?

Donna: I– I’m calling 911, eric.

Eric: No, no, no. No.

Donna: Eric, you– you– you– you collapsed. My god. And this isn’t your first time. You– you– you– you almost fell at the office with rj.

Eric: I’m fine. I’m fine. I’m– I am fine.

Donna: But–

Eric: Don’T. Don’t worry.

Donna: Don’t worry? You– you were unconscious, I– I thought you– thought you–

Eric: You thought I was dead?

Donna: Yes. [ Sobs ]

Eric: Okay, okay. Not dead. Not dead. Not getting rid of me yet.

Donna: Don’t joke like that. I told you don’t joke.

Eric: I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I scared you. I’m sorry.

Donna: I wanna take care of you. I just– I– I– I wanna look out for you when I–

Eric: You take care of me, okay? But no hospital, no doctors. No. Please. Thank you. Now, the party. We need to do it right away. I don’t have much time.

Hope: So, this party was all eric’s idea?

Ridge: Yeah, he’s determined to make it happen.

Brooke: Eric wants his family around him and the house filled with love and laughter. A night to be remembered always.

Hope: Okay, but what about eric’s doctor? I mean, couldn’t something like this be too much for him?

Brooke: We were worried about that too. But eric feels that with his family around and everybody really enjoying themselves that maybe that’s the best medicine for him.

Ridge: You know, what else would be good medicine? Being honest with him. Tell him that we know and then tell him that we’re there for him. How about that?

Hope: I’m– I’m really sorry, ridge. I know this must be very difficult for you.

Ridge: Well, it’s difficult for all of us, right? We all love my dad. I gotta go see rj. Hey, um… thank you for your support. Means a lot.

Zende: It is beyond ludicrous that you, with zero design experience, would be grandpa’s first pick to work with him on couture.

Rj: I know. I get it. I get it. I just– well, you think that my– that my mom and my dad forced our granddad to give me a job?

Zende: I’m sure that they approached it with a little bit more finesse than that, but the end result is the same. You got to spend all this extra time with granddad, positioning yourself for better things.

Rj: You think I spent all of this time with granddad because I had an ulterior motive? Zende, if you knew why I was doing this…

Zende: Why? Why, what?

Rj: This is pointless. This is stupid. Listen, we’re– we’re family. You’re my cousin. Okay? We shouldn’t be fighting over this. This is– if you want the truth, I’m gonna give you the truth. I was shocked too. All right? I– I was shocked when he asked me to– to help him design.

Zende: I still say that ridge had something to do with this.

Rj: He had nothing to do with this. This– I– you have my word.

Zende: Your word?

Rj: Yes.

Zende: Right. Okay. Great.

Rj: Zende.

Zende: Great.

Rj: This was my granddad’s decision. Our granddad’s decision.

Zende: Rj, I’m sorry, I’m just not buying it. Just put yourself in my shoes for a second. Give me one good reason why granddad would choose to work with you instead of me?

Ridge: I can give you a reason. Rj knows something that you don’T. But maybe it’s time that you did.

Hope: I still can’t believe that eric wants to throw a party.

Brooke: I couldn’t believe it either at first. But even ridge acknowledged that it’s important to eric. What’s important to eric is important to us because we care about him so much. Despite how difficult this is going to be.

Hope: Yeah, but mom… you share two children with eric. And he has always been a champion of yours. So, while I– I acknowledge that this is an incredibly difficult time for eric, but it is for you too. Are you really sure you can do this? I mean, go to that party, pull off the charade of a lifetime in front of a man who means so much to you.

Brooke: Well, I… we all have to be strong… for eric. Think about it. This may be the last thing that he ever asks of us. So, we have to come through for him.

Donna: Can I get you anything or– or do anything?

Eric: No. Yeah, I’m fine.

Donna: I’ll– I’ll get you some water, okay?

Eric: Or maybe– maybe a martini, extra dry.

[ Donna sighs ]

Eric: Okay. Water will be fine.

[ Eric sighs ] Donna, I meant what I said about the party. We have to do it. I– I’m– I’m winding down.

Donna: Please, don’t say that.

Eric: We have to do the party. There’s not a lot of time. Okay?

Zende: So, I was right. There was something– something that would explain rj getting the coveted spot next to granddad.

Ridge: Can you stop doing that, please? Stop insinuating that he gets some special treatment.

Zende: But I’m not insinuating anything. I’ve been saying it outright from the start.

Ridge: Okay. Let’s clear it up. I should have told you this a long time ago but I was trying to respect my– my father’s wishes.

Zende: Wait. So, granddad was in on it?

Ridge: No. He’s not in on anything but it’s– it’s affecting him.

Zende: What is affecting him? What?

Ridge: Did you notice any changes in my dad in the past few months?

Zende: Not really. Uh, he seems as focused and driven as ever. His collection was killer. He won the– the– the fashion challenge.

[ Ridge sighs ]

Rj: He didn’T.

Zende: What are you talking about?

Rj: He didn’t win. Dad won and told granddad that he won. It’s not the truth.

Ridge: He’s right, I did.

Zende: Guys, what is going on here?

Ridge: There’s no easy way of saying this. But you have to know.

Zende: What? Know what?

Ridge: My dad is dying.

Hope: It still doesn’t seem real. I– I can’t imagine forrester creations without him and I don’t want to.

Brooke: I know. I mean, eric has been a– a giant in the fashion world for decades. His impact will live on long after he’s gone. And forrester creations will be successful… but it won’t be the same. I mean, how could it? He’s the founder, the heart and soul of this company is not going to be with us anymore.

Hope: Well, he’s led by example. His kindness, his generosity. Everyone adores him.

Brooke: He’s so sweet. I mean, he has been there for me, you know, stood by me when I didn’t even deserve it. No judgment whatsoever. It’s just gonna be heartbreaking and, you know, to think of this world without eric forrester in it.

Hope: Mom. Come here.

Brooke: Oh, honey. [ Sobs ]

Zende: No. No, you’re just saying that to justify rj getting to work with him.

Ridge: Yeah. That would be really nice. It’s true. My– my dad is dying.

Zende: From the moment I was adopted… he accepted me. He welcomed me with wide open arms. He, uh…

[ Sobbing ] He always encouraged me. He pushed me to be a better man, a better designer. I wanted to be like him. I wanted to be just like him. And now you’re telling me we’re gonna lose him? We’re gonna lose granddad? I want to see him. I have to see him. I gotta–

Ridge: You can’t do that.

Zende: What– what do you mean, I can’t see him? Why?

Ridge: He doesn’t want anyone to know. Donna, katie and luna know.

Zende: Luna?

Ridge: We gotta respect his wishes. Tell me that you understand that.

Zende: Of course. I won’t say anything to him. Uncle. [ Sobs ]

Ridge: I know.

Zende: But… I love him so much.

Ridge: I know that too. He loves you. Come here.

Donna: How are you feeling?

Eric: I’d feel a lot better if you’d bring me that martini.

[ Donna scoffs ]

Eric: [ Laughs ] Hey, I thought that would get a smile out of you. I just made a joke, you know. It’s okay to– it’s okay to laugh and joke a little bit. It’s okay. What’s not okay is for you to be crying and mourning like this. I’m not– I’m not 6 feet under yet, you know.

Donna: Don’t say things like that. Stop saying things like that. My god.

Eric: Okay. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I scared you. I’m sorry.

Donna: Listen to doctor, eric, and just go to the hospital, get those tests, get whatever test they need.

Eric: Stop it, donna. Stop it. I would do any kind of treatment, I would go to the doctor, I would go through anything if it meant I could spend some more time with to you. But I’m not gonna live my life like that. And under– under– under that kind of treatment. I’m not gonna do it. I won’T. Okay? Now… I’m gonna go on with my life. I’ve gotta live and laugh. And– and– and love. We’re gonna have a party.

Donna: I– I don’t want a party, eric. Can’t you see this is breaking my heart? I don’t want a party.

Eric: Okay.

Donna: Please stop.

Eric: Stop it. Stop it. Look at you. I wanna see a– I wanna see a smile on your face, please. Please, donna, look. Look at me. Can you smile? Because when I see this other face of yours, it– it makes me sad too. And it makes me realize.

Donna: What?

Eric: It makes me realize how much I’m gonna miss you. I’m gonna miss you so much.

Eric: Oh, donna, I have so much to do and so little time,

Donna: Eric, I– I really wish you wouldn’t think of it that way.

Eric: I have to. I– I can’t– I can’t waste a minute. I can’t, I mean, I– I don’t even really know how many minutes I have left. Oh, stop it you two. I don’t want this. I don’t want these– these long faces. I don’t want sadness in here, okay? I’ve had this wonderful life and it’s– it’s not over yet and I have to– I have this collection to put out and I have this wonderful party to throw. The kind of grand soiree that this family hasn’t seen in a very long time.

Thomas: You can’t be serious.

Brooke: Now?

Steffy: Granddad actually said he wants to throw a party.

Rj: He doesn’t want to. He’s doing it.

Carter: As you can imagine, I was taken aback by the documents eric sent over.

Ridge: What do– what documents? What are you–

Carter: Ridge, the revised will naming you executor and the amended medical power of attorney.

Ridge: But I can’t do this. How do I do this? How do– how do I make–

Carter: Okay, ridge. What the hell is going on?

Brooke: What is eric thinking?

Steffy: Throwing a party at a time like this?

Rj: Well, that’s the whole point.

Thomas: Okay. So, how did the topic of partying even come up?

Rj: Well, he was talking about his– his life and– and you know, it ending, but it wasn’t in like a morbid or depressing way. He was just talking about how he doesn’t want tears or sadness. He– he wants a celebration, the perfect joyous ending.

Katie: I know you probably don’t want my opinion, but I’m going to offer it up anyway. I think that under the circumstances, maybe a party is not such a great idea.

Eric: You know what? I agree with you. It’s not a good idea. It’s a great idea and I love it. It’s a great idea because it was my idea.

Donna: Eric, you’re not well.

Eric: Yeah, thanks for reminding me, donna.

Donna: No. What I mean is that you have enough on your plate doing this new collection.

Eric: If I don’t do what I want now, when? Now, I want to finish this collection and I want to do this one last wonderful party for our family. And remember, we’re a closed shop here. We’re the only ones who know about this. I don’t– rj and luna and us. No one else has to know what’s going on with me, right? Okay.

[ Eric coughing ]

Carter: Look, I’m not trying to jump to conclusions, but it’s not hard to connect the dots. So, what’s going on? You can tell me.

Ridge: He doesn’t want anyone to know. Not even me, his own son. But you’re family, so you deserve the truth.

Carter: No, no, no, man. That can’t be true.

Ridge: Yeah, I wish it wasn’T.

Carter: Eric… he’s dying? I can’t, I gotta go see him.

Ridge: No.

Carter: I have to.

Ridge: No, you don’t have to. It’s not what he wants. He doesn’t want anyone to know. That’s why you’re only finding out about this now. Rj’s been helping him and he had these tremors and his hands weren’t working, so rj was there for him and they created this collection together.

Carter: That’s a hell of a burden on rj.

Ridge: Nothing was too much for him because he talked to brooke and then they told me.

Carter: That’s why you let eric think he won the fashion challenge.

Ridge: He needed that. He needed some validation. He’s gotta know that he– that he’s relevant because he is relevant. As long as he’s alive, he’s– he’s relevant.

Carter: How are you holding up?

Ridge: What, pretending that I don’t know? I am great. That’s what he wants. We have to respect that.

Carter: I don’t think I can pull that off.

Ridge: Oh, I know you can pull that off. ‘Cause you have to. Not for me, carter. For him.

Eric: Katie. Uh, do me a favor, will you? Just, uh, get everybody in here in here, in this room. I want everybody in the family to know that there’s a wonderful party in their immediate future.

Katie: So, you’re really going through with this?

Eric: Oh, yes, with great enthusiasm. You too.

Donna: So, does that mean you’re ready to tell everybody the truth that you’re–

Eric: What? That I’m– that I’m dying? Donna, it’s okay. You can say it. It’s the truth. Okay.

Carter: Eric, he, um… he always accepted me, right from the start. Was always caring and kind, supportive… even when I didn’t deserve it. And as you know, he took a big chance on me because I didn’t have much corporate experience. But he believed I could do the job. I can’t tell you how much that means to me.

Ridge: No, I get it.

Carter: Thank you for telling me.

Ridge: Listen, I– I know you love my dad, he loves you. Hey, you gotta keep this to yourself.

Carter: I’m not saying it won’t be the hardest thing I ever had to do, but if it helps ease eric’s journey, you can count on me.

Ridge: Thank you, brother.

Carter: I’m sorry.

Ridge: Oh, man, me too.

Rj: Hey.

Ridge: Ah, he’s family, I had to tell him.

Carter: Eric– he, uh– he sent over these– these documents. The revised will and amended the power of attorney.

Steffy: Granddad’s actively preparing for his death.

Ridge: Yeah.

Brooke: I still can’t believe this is happening.

Steffy: I know. It’s ridiculous. What– what rj said. It’s what granddad wants.

Thomas: I think it’s actually inspirational.

Ridge: What?

Thomas: We’d all be so lucky to go out like that.

Carter: He has a point, ridge. And you do too. We all love eric and we’re losing him and… it’s natural we’d want to hold on to him for as long as we can, but you did something very admirable. You told your dad he won the fashion challenge when he didn’T.

Thomas: Yeah, you gave that to him.

Steffy: Probably gave him more time, dad.

Brooke: It was a gift and now we can give him another gift, show up to his party and give him the night that he wants so badly.

[ Phone chiming ] Oh. It’s, uh, it’s katie. Eric wants to see us.

Ridge: All right. Put on your game faces. Pretend that everything is perfect.

Donna: I understand your desire to live life as much as you can, but you heard the doctor, eric. He wants you in the hospital.

Katie: To run more tests.

Eric: No, no, it’s not what I want. This is what I want. I want one last party. A wonderful party full of fun and laughter and wonderful memories.

Donna: Oh, eric.

[ Knocking ]

Eric: Good.

Ridge: Hey.

Eric: Good. Come in, everyone. Just– just fill up the room. Yeah, that’s what I want. Uh, I’m so glad– I’m glad you’re here. Thanks for coming.

Brooke: Yeah, katie texted me, said you wanted to see all of us, so…

Eric: And what a wonderful sight you are to see.

Carter: You know, I’d like to, um, to jump on that, eric. Uh… you took a chance on me, gave me a place here at forrester, a seat at the family table and, uh, I just wanna thank you for that.

Eric: No, we needed you here. You’ve been a wonderful addition to this company and to this family.

Ridge: All right. What is happening here? We’re all busy. You brought us in here for, what, some love fest? Okay?

Eric: Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. Uh, the fact is an explanation, I’ve had a few moments of, uh, real clarity lately and I think it’s time for us to have a celebration, a party. A party for all of us full of– full of love and laughter. So, are you coming or not?

[ All laughing ]

Ridge: Yeah, sounds perfect.

Thomas: We’ll be there.

Rj: Sounds like a blast.

Carter: Wouldn’t miss it.

Eric: Okay. Donna and I will get back to you with all the details and we’ll let you know when– when everything is starting.

Donna: Okay, I think you’ve had a full day.

Eric: We’ll dance. We’re gonna dance?

Donna: Yes, we’ll dance. But we’re gonna go home now. Okay. All right.

Eric: Be lots of champagne.

Ridge: So, we’re having a party.

Thomas: Okay. Uh, I guess it’s time to figure out how to throw a party.

Carter: How are we supposed to pull this off?

Brooke: Brought tears to my eyes just hearing him talk like that.

Ridge: You know what I want to hear from him is the truth, so we can deal with this as a family.

Rj: This is how he wants to handle it, dad.

Steffy: I wouldn’t go along with a stupid charade for anyone. But if this is what granddad wants, then we’re going to dress up and we’re gonna have a party and we’re gonna make it a night he will never forget.

Ridge: Okay.

Eric: Did you, uh, you think anybody saw my hand shaking?

Donna: Nobody reacted.

Eric: Ah, good. I mean rj or katie, it’s okay, but nobody else. I don’t want–

Donna: I know, I know. How’s your hand feeling now?

Eric: Fine. It’s fine. Ridge asked me, uh, what we’re celebrating at this party and I said, “gratitude.” I’m just so… I’m so grateful to have you in my life, yeah?

Donna: Oh, eric. Really, uh… we finally got together, didn’t we? It became kind of a circuitous route, but we’re here.

Donna: We did. And stephanie, I was with her all that time. She was wonderful. She was strong and powerful and a wonderful partner and a great– a great mother to our children, really, but she… she wasn’t that easy to live with.

Donna: I can’t imagine that she was, really.

[ Donna sighing ] Donna, I’m gonna live my life the way I want to, right here at forrester, creating and– and– and designing. And at home, in our beautiful home with you. Side by side with you, snuggled up in my arms. I’m not gonna be hooked up to a bunch of old machines and– and being poked and prodded. Not– no hospital. No hospital.

Donna: But what if the hospital could help?

Katie: Hospital? What? What are you talking about? What happened?

Eric: Well, katie, in case you’ve forgotten, I’m dying.

Ridge: My dad is facing the biggest challenge of his life, and I can’t be there to help him.

Brooke: Not in the way that you want. But you are there for your father, ridge. You are. You’re giving him exactly what he wants and needs right now.

Ridge: What does he want and need? Me pretending that this isn’t real? That– that it’s–

Brooke: Okay, look. I understand your frustration.

Steffy: We all do. We all do. It goes against every instinct to go along with this, pretending that everything is okay when all we want to do is just reach out and hold him and help him somehow. I’ll always remember it as grandma being, you know, the stubborn one, but… granddad, he can be stubborn too. We don’t really have a choice but to let him play this out the way he wants. Live his life on his terms. ‘Til the end.

Brooke: Steffy is right. We have to give this to eric. We have to keep pretending we don’t know.

Ridge: Okay. But rj said that– that dad almost collapsed today. If any of us had seen that, then what do we do?

Eric: Uh-huh. Nothing’s really changed. Nothing. I’m still dying. Like everybody else on the planet, and, you know, just a little sooner for me, that’s all. But just because I’m on a– on a fast track for– for– for dying doesn’t mean I need to throw in the towel and then crawl into some hospital bed someplace. No. No, I’m gonna spend it doing what I love doing most. Right here, creating.

Donna: I– I get that. I mean, we– we actually– we get that, but– but what if spending just a little bit of time in the hospital will prolong your life so that you can continue to create for many more years?

Eric: No, no, no. Being in a hospital is just– that’s just– it’s just sitting there and fading away and being forgotten. I’m not gonna do that. I have this collection to finish. I have to finish this collection and that’s what I’m gonna do. I may be gone one day soon and away from this office and I’ll be away from everywhere, but I’m gonna create this and– and it’s a line that’s gonna go on forever, never to be forgotten. You know, give this place back to ridge one day and– and then it’ll be done. That’s what I’m gonna do.

Steffy: I’ve been wrestling with this myself. We can’t possibly keep–

Ridge: Can’t possibly what? Keep up the charade of– of saying that everything is fine? This– we could have quality time with him. Instead, we’re doing this. We– we’re here talking about it, wasting it.

Steffy: We’re gonna have quality time, but I don’t want to pity him. That’s the last thing he needs. I just wish we could have an open, honest conversation with him, as honest as it can be. So, if he’s here at the office, behind the desk, knocking it out, another brilliant design, then fine. That’s just as meaningful. That’s what granddad wants. That’s gonna bring him joy, then you said it yourself, we need to respect his wishes.

Ridge: Come here. We will. Okay?

Donna: You know that I want you thriving and creating, but this isn’t about sending you to some hospital room to spend the rest of your days. This is about going to the hospital, doing a few tests and maybe this won’t be your last collection.

Katie: Exactly. Exactly. Eric, you can’t stop fighting. You can’t give up.

Eric: That’s not what I’m doing. I’m not. That’s not– giving up would be curling up in a ball in a– in a– in a hospital room somewhere. Between the sheets of some bed, someplace. I’m not doing that. It’s not what I’m doing. I have to stay here. I have to stay alive and I have to finish my last collection. This is my life, this is my passion.

Katie: No one is saying that you have to quit designing. Everyone can see how wonderful this has been for you. But– but you can do both. You can continue to design and look for treatment options.

It humbles me, it does, but I’m the only one who knows how I’m feeling and I’m the one who gets to decide what I’m gonna do. And I choose– I choose to move on with my life, to design. And I want you to call rj and tell him to meet us in the salon. He can see my latest– the latest forrester fashion creation come to life.

Rj: I just got a text from aunt katie, and she says, um, granddad wants to meet up.

Brooke: Oh, well, that’s great. Must mean he’s inspired to work.

Ridge: Probably thinking about his next fashion show.

Steffy: The next fashion show won’t be a competition.

Ridge: Right.

Steffy: It’ll be eric forrester’s originals in the spotlight. But what if he doesn’T…

Ridge: Well, I’m sure the day will come when his condition deteriorates to point where… here’s what I know. This man is gonna stand tall as long as he can.

Brooke: Takes an enormous amount of strength.

Ridge: I know I couldn’t do it.

Steffy: Well, you’ve been extremely brave. Showing so much strength, holding us together.

Ridge: I think it’s gonna take all of us.

Brooke: Yeah.

[ Eric coughing ]

Donna: Okay, I think– I think we need to get some water.

Katie: I’m gonna– I’m gonna see what I can find.

Eric: Stop it! Stop it! I don’t want this. I don’t want any of this. I’m tired of it. I don’t want these long faces. I don’t want any sadness, all right? No sadness. I want– I want laughter and I want joy. And I want– I just got the best– I just got the best idea.

Katie: About a fashion show?

Eric: No, no, the funeral.

Donna: What? Er– eric.

Eric: No, I’m sorry. You got me wrong. I don’t mean funeral. I mean– I mean, uh– I mean, a celebration. Something that– that I can attend. The most wonderful celebration ever. A party!

Donna: A party?

Eric: Yes, a party with– with– with everyone. With all my friends and family and I can be there with a– with a glass of champagne, and everyone can laugh and have a wonderful time. And there’d be no tears. There’d be no crying and no tears at this party. Do you understand?

Donna: Eric, is that really fair? I mean, shouldn’t family and friends get a chance to say goodbye to you?

Eric: Yes, yes, and they can at my real funeral when that happens, whenever that is. And they can be there and cry as much as they want, but they shouldn’t spend a lot of time doing that because life goes on, and it should. This is what I want to do. And I would be very honored if you would do it with me, this final celebratory act of mine. The most– the most fun act I’ve ever had. A beautiful, beautiful celebration, and one final, final act. Ridge: Well, it’s his choice. Doesn’t want anyone to pity him.

Brooke: He doesn’t want us to worry.

Steffy: So, we’re supposed to just act like everything’s normal?

Ridge it’s not normal. I saw his hand shaking earlier. Pretended like I didn’t see it.

Steffy: God. Well, at least he’s back at work. Now, we can see him.

Ridge: Yeah, I’m happy about that.

Steffy: I’m still not used to seeing you in the design office.

Ridge: Not my desk anymore. That’s part of the deal.

Steffy: You did the right thing, letting granddad believe that he won the fashion challenge and giving up your office.

Eric: So, any time that you slant the hemline on something like this, it needs to be very, very subtle.

Rj: Yeah.

Eric: It makes all the difference in the world.

Rj: No, it– it definitely does. I definitely wouldn’t have, uh, I wouldn’t have thought of doing it. I really like the way that it makes the edges straight.

Eric: Yeah, it does. It gives the fabric some weight. It– it grounds the dress. It’s really good.

Donna: Mm, signature eric forrester.

Eric: Yes, it is, yeah. She knows all my secret weapons.

[ Rj and donna chuckling ] And now, you do too.

Rj: I’ve learned so much from you, granddad.

Eric: Yeah, I– I think so. Uh… be good.

Donna: Eric, you’re pale. You need to sit down.

Brooke: It’s really selfless of you, allowing eric to believe that he beat you in the fashion challenge.

Ridge: He was so invested. He spent hours finishing those pieces.

Steffy: So did you, which makes it even more heartwarming.

Ridge: Well, that’s the least I could do.

Brooke: Thinking that he won this challenge, it’s– it’s meant a lot to eric.

Ridge: Yeah, I know. He’s thrilled. Now, he’s rubbing it in my face.

Steffy: He couldn’t be more proud of himself.

Ridge: Why shouldn’t he? It’s quite a collection.

Brooke: And it’s really made him happy.

Eric: Yeah, I’m all right. I just had a senior moment.

Rj: You need to rest and maybe working on this collection isn’t good for you.

Ridge: Dad and I would always work together whenever we could, you know. And then, he started wanting to do his own line. I just didn’t pick up on it.

Brooke: I just thought he needed to prove himself like he’s still got it.

Ridge: Yeah. I thought the same thing, so I indulged him. You know why? Because I wanted to win. Because I wanted to beat the best.

Steffy: And you did.

Ridge: Yeah. What a waste of time, huh? This whole competition was just time wasted with him. I was such a jerk.

Steffy: You and granddad always had fun teasing each other, and it always came from a place of love.

Ridge: You think this came from a place of love? No. I wanted him out. I wanted him to retire so I could take over ’cause I didn’t know he was suffering ’cause no one told me.

Brooke: You understand why.

Ridge: I do. I– this is not about rj, and I know he has a lot on his plate. I understand.

Steffy: Yeah, definitely. And thomas and I are really grateful that you opened up to us. I mean, yeah, it’s still a shock. Grandad seems so vital and alive.

Ridge: He is, he– everything we have, everything we are is because of him.

Brooke: It’s true. Everything he’s done for all of us. His love and his support and his encouragement. And everything he’s done here, what he’s built at forrester creations.

Ridge: A patriarch.

Steffy: He’s always been a sanctuary for me. When I couldn’t talk to you or mom about something, I– I knew I could go to him. And he’d give me just wonderful advice and guidance and not just for me, but for everyone. I don’t want to even think about him not being here. I can’t imagine him being gone.

Donna: Okay. Well, um, dr. Colby is gonna swing by and check on you, and, um, thankfully he was really close.

Eric: Look, it was just a dizzy spell, that’s all it was. You didn’t have to call the doctor.

Rj: No, we need to get you checked out. That’s– it’s a good idea.

Eric: Yeah. Well, it’s just gonna be the same diagnosis as it was before, right? And this– this– this senior moment of mine was just a blip on that same diagnostic radar. It’s the same thing.

Rj: Granddad. Granddad. We love you. Okay? We both love you. We wanna make sure that you’re not in any danger. Okay? We– we’re– this collection? We– we’re gonna have time to finish this. Okay? And we’re going to.

Eric: Good. I like that attitude, all right?

Rj: Yeah.

Eric: Let’s do some work. We can get some work done before the doctor gets here. Come on.

Rj: No, no.

Donna: Oh, no, no, no, no. You– you need to rest right now, eric.

[ Eric coughing ]

Rj: What if we took you back to the house? Would you be okay with that? What if– what if we started working on–

Eric: Oh, no, that’s the worst idea and you’ll put me between– convince me to lay down on the bed and just sit there and wait to die. No, no, I’m not gonna do that. That’s not what I’m gonna do.

Donna: That– that– that’s not what we’re saying, eric. Okay? We’re not saying that. We just think that maybe this is depleting your energy.

Eric: No, this– this is what energizes me, donna. You know that. Being here at this desk. Designing, working, surrounded by my family and– and teaching my grandson. And– and– and loving you. This. And this is what I’m gonna do until I die, this. This is what I want.

[ Eric coughing ]

Donna: Oh, dr. Colby. Thank you so much for coming.

Colby: Eric, how are you doing? I see the coughing’s intensified.

Eric: I’m fine. I’m fine.

Donna: No, he– he’s not fine. He almost passed out and he’s– he’s coughing up blood again. I mean, I know eric doesn’t want to hear this, but his– his condition is getting worse. His symptoms are increasing, and– and they’re more frequent. Please, doctor, please. Tell me that there’s– there’s something you can do to help eric.

[ Eric coughing ]

Colby: One more deep breath in.

[ Eric inhaling deeply ] Tell me more about what happened today.

Donna: Uh, eric– eric was just standing there. He– he– he and rj were working and suddenly he just got disoriented.

Eric: It wasn’t a big deal. I just got lightheaded, that’s all.

Rj: It was a very big deal, dr. Colby. He was standing right here and he almost fell.

Donna: Yeah. And thankfully, rj was there to catch him or he would have hit the ground.

Colby: Has this been happening regularly?

Eric: No. What, the dizziness?

Colby: Yes.

Eric: No, no, it hasn’T. It’s just– just once in a while. Not– not very often at all. Look, I– just probably low blood sugar. I didn’t, uh, eat hardly anything today.

Colby: Okay. With your condition, nearly losing consciousness is an indication of a more serious issue.

Donna: He– he’s been so focused on this collection. I don’t– I don’t think he’s been taking care of himself as much as he should be. Eric, you need to eat and— and you’re not getting enough sleep.

Rj: Yeah. We keep telling him that he needs to get more sleep.

Eric: All right, you’re both right. You’re both right. I’ll, uh, I’ll have a great big lunch tomorrow.

Colby: Okay. To be perfectly frank, I think you need to go to the hospital.

Eric: Yeah. What today?

Colby: Yes.

Eric: No, I can’t go. It’s right in the middle of the workday. I’m not gonna go to the hospital.

Colby: Eric, your blood pressure is low. Okay? Your lungs are inflamed. The hospital can do a chest x-ray, run more tests so that we know better about what stage we’re at.

Eric: A test to what? A test to tell me what I already know? That my body’s failing me? We know that already, doctor. No, thank you.

Rj: Granddad, you need to listen to dr. Colby. He’s an expert.

Eric: I know.

Donna: Maybe– maybe if you go to the hospital, they’ll– they’ll make you feel more comfortable.

Eric: Oh, they have pills for that. They’re gonna have pills that make me feel better. They have lots of pills for that. You have a– a pill to make me better so that I can– I can live? So I can keep living? Do you have that pill? No, I didn’t think so. Look, I don’t want to go to the hospital. I’m gonna stay here. I’m gonna do what I want. I’m gonna live my life. I’m gonna squeeze the life out of every moment I have left. And I’m gonna live it for myself, right? I’m gonna live ’til I die.

Steffy: Granddad is at the end of his life and we have to pretend that we have no idea.

Brooke: Right. Nobody is supposed to know.

Ridge: But we do know.

Brooke: Yes, we do know. And it’s taken a terrible toll on rj too. I’m worried about that. Just happy he’s been able to lean on luna.

Steffy: Yeah, it has helped out granddad.

Ridge: Why can’t we just go over there and shake him and say, “hey, dad, we know what’s going on. “We’re here to help you.”

Steffy: I hear you, and I want to do that too.

Brooke: We can’T. We can’t say anything. It’s critical that we don’t upset him.

Steffy: [ Sighing ] Fine. I mean, if he’s here and he’s creating and it gives him peace, maybe it’ll prolong his life.

Ridge: Give him something to hold on to.

Brooke: He does love designing, that’s for sure. Just hope he doesn’t overdo it.

[ Steffy sighing ]

Ridge: Come here.

Brooke: You know how we’re talking about eric this way. You know, our eric. Our sweet, sweet eric.

Ridge: It’s all right.

Rj: Hey, you’re– you’re here. Um…

Ridge: Whoa, whoa. Is it my dad? What’s going on?

Rj: Yes, the doctor was just with him in the ceo office.

Brooke: Did something happen?

Rj: He’s okay. It’s just– I think things have taken a little bit of a turn.

Steffy: What do you– what do you mean?

Rj: He– he has these dizzy spells sometimes, but this– this was different. I think– I think his condition is getting uh, getting worse.

Eric: That was some house call, you know. The house is one thing, but for him to come to the office. Come on.

Donna: Okay. And he urged you to go to the hospital. I really think you should listen to him.

Eric: Well, if I thought it was important, I would.

Donna: Eric, sweetheart. What if it was another tia?

Eric: Well, it’s nothing we haven’t dealt with before. Right, donna? And now that I’ve had these crackers, I’m back to my old self. I mean, really. Let’s– let’s go home. We can play some racquetball or some pickleball.

Donna: Stop. I’m really not in the mood to joke right now.

Eric: I’m not joking. I’m serious about it. We can play something. I’ve got plenty of juice.

Donna: It was really scary. Stop it. That was scary for me, please. I mean, you–

Eric: I’m sorry. I’m sorry.

Donna: You almost collapsed. You were– you were just standing there talking, and if rj hadn’t– hadn’t held you, you could have hit your head. Or maybe never woken up.

Eric: Or maybe died, you think? I would’ve died? Donna, it’s not my time. It’s not my time. Not yet. You’re not gonna get rid of me that easily.

Donna: Stop.

Eric: There you are. Beautiful smile. I love it when you laugh.

Eric: Okay, okay. Okay.

Donna: I’m sorry.

Eric: Whatever happens, you’re gonna be fine.

Ridge: What’s going on with dad?

Rj: I don’t know. It came on suddenly, whatever it was.

Steffy: You said he got dizzy.

Rj: Yes, he did. We were talking, he was really excited about the new design. Everything was really positive and then he– he couldn’t find a word, and then he just– his whole body went weak.

Brooke: Oh, my god.

Rj: I was scared he was gonna collapse.

Brooke: Did you call 911?

Rj: We called– donna wanted to call his doctor, so we called his doctor, and he came and examined him in the office.

Steffy: What did the doctor say?

Rj: He’s– he’s very worried about him. He’s been worried about him. He said that he shouldn’t be here working. He– he should be in a hospital.

Ridge: All right. So, is– is that where he is? Is that where he went?

Rj: Well, you know how stubborn granddad is.

Steffy: He refused to go.

Rj: Yeah. He said it was low blood sugar and he said it was no big deal.

Ridge: Oh, okay. Great.

Brooke: It’s more than that.

Rj: Yeah. It’s obvious his– his illness is progressing, and we– we– shouldn’t we do something?

Steffy: Well, granddad can’t be alone. Someone needs to be there with him.

Rj: He’s almost never alone. It’s always donna or me or katie are always with him. We have that covered.

Ridge: Why are we doing this? Why can’t we– we be open and honest with each other? We’re standing here, he’s over there. I just want to be with him and hold his hand and make sure that he’s all right. Share whatever pain he has, whatever– he must be so scared right now.

Brooke: Ridge.

Steffy: Hey, you are there for him, loving him every single day. You’re here, dad. It’s okay. It’s okay.

[ Ridge sighing ]

Donna: Do you know how much I love you, honey bear?

Eric: I do.

Donna: Yeah.

Eric: I also know how hard this has been for you. Thank you. You’ve been so strong for me. Until my last breath… thank you.

Steffy: That’s exactly what I needed. Time away from the office to be with my handsome husband.

Finn: Hm, well, I’m not complaining. And I love the pop in. And thank you for this.

Steffy: Yeah.

Finn: You trying to keep your mind off things?

Steffy: Would I use you like that?

[ Finn laughing ] Yeah. Okay. Maybe a little. But can you blame me? Trying to keep up with the charade in front of my grandfather when I know he’s–

[ Sighs ] I’m just heartbroken about all of it.

Ridge: Let me help you.

Eric: Yeah, ridge. I– I have this whole wellspring of ideas here. You know, dozens of them. I just– they’re right at my fingertips, I just can’t get them down on paper. That’s the trouble with it.

Ridge: That’s no trouble at all ’cause I could help you with that. Think about it. Us in the trenches together, shoulder to shoulder. Not just us, the three of us. Three generations. Dad, fathers, and sons, we– we could create something incredible. I just wanna work with you one more time. Can we do that?

Brooke: Eric is being strong and courageous.

Katie: He’s definitely putting on a brave front.

Brooke: And donna can’t convince him he doesn’t need to.

Katie: We are there for both of them. Whether eric wants to be honest about his condition or not.

Brooke: You know, that’s what makes this situation so tragic. He needs to be open with us and upfront. That way, we could help him. He needs to let us hold him and hug him and support him and love him. Before it’s too late.

Katie: We can’t deny eric his final wish. He thinks that the only people who know are donna, luna, rj and me. We have to keep it that way.

Brooke: Carrying the secret is tearing rj apart. And we’re trying to support him, but he is suffering terribly.

Katie: We all are.

Brooke: Well, it doesn’t have to be that way. If we could all just pull together. The word is spreading. Everybody knows. Eric’s situation is impacting every member of this family.

Steffy: It’s just not fair. Grandfather has so much to do still. So much to share.

Finn: You’re right. But I think that’s what’s driving him, you know? Keeping him going. And I know, I know that holding back isn’t who you are. I know you want things to be in the open and not pretend around your grandfather. Look, the good thing is, that’s how hard you love. You don’t hold that back at all. Right? You can’t love a little bit, you are full throttle, you are wide open.

Steffy: Yeah.

Finn: You know, and we all feel it. I know I do. And so does your grandfather.

[ Steffy sighing ]

Ridge: I’m not saying you need my help. You can do this on your own, but you don’t have to.

Eric: It’s an interesting offer.

[ Laughing ] Come on. Rj’s been doing a wonderful job.

Ridge: Oh, look at you. Just in time. We were talking about rj.

Luna: Oh, one of my favorite topics.

Rj: Wow, did you two, like, practice this?

Ridge: We were just saying what a great job he’s doing with his grandfather.

Luna: Yeah, I can vouch for that.

Rj: Granddad, I– I think he’s right with what you guys were just talking about. I think he’d be a great addition to the team. Plus, you– you already won the fashion challenge, so you proved your point.

Ridge: Dad, I don’t– I don’t wanna steal your spotlight. I don’t want your spotlight. I just want to be in the room with you guys. All of us working together. It would be amazing. Look at him. This boy loves and admires you. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for you.

Katie: I don’t think eric wants to be celebrated for his past accomplishments. I think he wants to go out on top, you know, as creative and vital as he’s ever been.

Brooke: We all want to help him, but it seems like help is a dirty word to eric right now. You know, ridge and i went to see his doctor when we found out. But I don’t get it. What’s happening? Is he seeing any specialists? I mean, does he really want to live?

Katie: Of course, he does. He wants to live every moment to its fullest.

Brooke: But nothing makes eric feel more alive than designing.

Steffy: [ Sighs ] I just can’t stop thinking about how important my grandfather is to our family.

Finn: Not to mention an inspiration to an entire industry.

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah. That’s very true. But when I tell our kids about him, it’s not gonna be about the accolades and the awards, no. It’s gonna be about the little things. ‘Cause the little things, that’s what really matters. All the times he took me in without a second thought. If any member of our family needed help or needed a place to go, you know that you could count on him. He’d be there for you.

Finn: His house is a safe place for you.

Steffy: Oh, yeah. Tell me about it. Taking the kids to the estate, I gotta say it was… really the only good thing at a really terrible time. And as hard as it was to be away from you, it was actually good to be with my grandfather. Especially now, knowing what I do. And seeing our kids with him, you know, by the pool, in– in grandmother’s garden. And he’d make those special blueberry pancakes almost every single day.

[ Laughs ] Man. When I was young, I used to think those– those blueberry pancakes, they could fix almost anything. If only it could fix this.

[ Steffy sobbing ]

Ridge: Well, the details are amazing, what is that? Embroidery?

Eric: It’s crystal beadwork. Yeah?

Ridge: It looks good.

Eric: Yeah.

Luna: Morning.

Ridge: Oh, what’s this?

Luna: Uh, you asked me to get lila so we can finalize number three.

Eric: Ah-ha. There you are. Ah, you look beautiful.

Ridge: So, hang on a second. So, this is number three. Not a tour de force, just– just a three.

[ Eric laughing ]

Eric: You hear that, lila? On you, everything’s a show-stopper.

[ Inaudible ] Great, huh? Okay. Excellent work, everyone. Excellent.

Rj: Hey, this is all you, granddad.

Eric: Well, the whole team did a great job. I appreciate it so much, lila, thank you. Thanks for coming down. Tell them, uh, this is all finished. It can go in the vault. Great. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Thank you, but flattery will get you nowhere. It will not get you a spot on this team.

Ridge: That’s not– I’m just– I’m calling them like I see them, that’s it.

Eric: Yeah, well, that’s something you obviously imparted to your son. He has incredible instincts.

Ridge: Yes, he does. And they’re only gonna get better the more he works with you. And thank you for taking him under your wing and showing him some of the things that you’re capable of. It’s quite obvious to everyone that you’re not passing the torch, you’re gonna light the way for the next generation. So, good for you. Keep walking. Take no prisoners and never surrender.

Rj: Have you seen my charger anywhere? Like earlier today?

Luna: I’m sure somebody’s got one that you could borrow. Well, I need to keep working, and it’s dead soon.

Luna: Hey, hey, hey.

Rj: What?

Luna: It’s okay.

Rj: It’s not okay. I just expressed to you. I need to finish writing this sketch. I need to finish this design.

Luna: Okay, and– and you will, you will, but right now you have to breathe. Hey.

Rj: What?

Luna: Better?

Rj: I’m sorry, I’m letting this get to me. I’m– it’s just starting to really hit me that he’s not gonna be here anymore, I–

Luna: No, no. You– you just have to think about the time that you have with him now. And you’re doing amazing, rj. Seriously, everyone is so proud of you.

Rj: I’m doing it for him.

Luna: You love him so much?

Rj: More than I can put into words. Which is what I’m trying to do with this. I’m trying to put everything that he means to me, every– everything that he’s taught me, I’m trying to put it all right here. And I– I just hope he can feel it when he sees it.

Luna: I think everyone can.

Rj: If this really is gonna be eric forrester’s last collection, I’m gonna make it one that no one can stop talking about.

Finn: Take his vitals and I’ll be down there in a minute. Okay. Thanks. Hey, sorry about that.

Steffy: It’s fine.

Finn: So, no one’s told you what’s actually going on with eric?

Steffy: My dad doesn’t even know. Maybe donna, but all the information that we’re getting seems third-hand and vague.

Finn: And you said his first symptoms were tremors?

Steffy: Yeah, in his hands.

Finn: Weakness?

Steffy: It seemed like arthritis. And then, he started coughing up blood. I don’t know. Could the two things be related? Like the doctor said, maybe it’s tias, which are mini-strokes. Does that sound right?

Fine: Yeah, I– I– honey, I’d have to look at his chart before…

Steffy: Oh, god. I hate this feeling. I hate it. I don’t know what’s going on. I don’t know what to do, what to expect. Like, if we knew a diagnosis, I could at least come to you or I could look into other treatments, but everything just seems so hush-hush. I– I– I– I can’t help him. And I hate that feeling most of all.

Ridge: Do you mind?

Eric: Mm, uh, no, no, go ahead.

Ridge: What about this? What about we lose a little bit of weight right in here? What do you think of that?

Eric: Yeah. You knew exactly what I was going for, didn’t you? This is it. Yes.

[ Eric laughs ]

Brooke: Well, this is wonderful to see. Two of fashion’s greatest designers collaborating agai feels like old times.

Ridge: Also, the best times of my life.

Eric: Yeah, mine too. What I wouldn’t give to relive some of those times.

Ridge: Relive them? No, no, I’m– not me. They live in here the way they’re supposed to live. You and me on the runway and you backstage, rallying the troops. What a pep talk. The best pep talk I ever heard. You know the one I’m talking about?

Eric: Yeah.

Ridge: Well, those memories stay in here the way they are. Cemented and lifted up by gratitude and pride and– just leave those alone and maybe make some more memories. What do you think about that?

Seriously, every– every single second that I’ve been in here and I’ve been worried about my granddad’s health condition, how much time we have left, you — you’ve been there to lift me up, remind me that we’re fulfilling his last wish and that we’re doing it his way and… you know, I, um… I’ve never trusted someone this much before in my entire life.

Luna: Hey, I mean it, when I say it. I’m always here for you, rj. I’m not gonna go anywhere.

Finn: Has anyone mentioned how eric’s symptoms are progressing? Like is he– is he coughing more, short of breath? Uh, like his voice getting weaker?

Steffy: I haven’t noticed anything like that, but it doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

Finn: Oh, we can’t cover everything. You know, as time– as time goes on his– his limitations, they’re– they’re gonna become more apparent. Yeah.

Steffy: And what are we doing? Pretending everything is fine? We don’t have time for this.

Finn: You just– you’re gonna have to just be close to him, you know, and– and be there.

Steffy: No, of course I am. I’m gonna try to help out in any way I can, but… what I’ve been told is that the… so, the end is drawing near for my grandfather and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.

Eric: All right, that’s a– that’s enough sentimentality.

[ Eric chuckling ]

Brooke: Nothing wrong with appreciating the past, especially one like yours, eric. All your success deserves to be celebrated.

Eric: Nah.

Ridge: We should also celebrate what he’s doing now.

Eric: Yeah, ridge is right, you know. Any designer worth his salt, you know, knows he is only as good as his last collection.

Ridge: That’s right, so onward and upward.

Eric: Mm-hmm. Only just a little slower than, uh, my pace for the last couple of years.

Ridge: You’re going slow? Because it seems like you’re churning them out.

Eric: Yeah, well rj has been doing a great job with me. I really appreciate it.

Brooke: And rj is honored to work with you. And I’m grateful for the time that you two spend together, developing this incredible bond. Ridge is right. It’s time to make new experiences. The passion that you have for your family and this business and your design. It’s wonderful times ahead.

Eric: Yeah. And a lot of work too. I can’t wait to see this collection come to life. I can’t wait.

Brooke: Okay, well, just– you don’t need to push yourself so hard.

Eric: Yeah.

Ridge: Sometimes it’s a good idea to just take– take something and let it percolate. Um, I offered dad that I could maybe help him with this collection a little bit.

Brooke: What? Really? Eric, that would be great.

Ridge: That would be great, but he hasn’t said anything yet. Listen, this competition was great, but I– I don’t– I don’t want to be at odds with you ever again.

Eric: I don’t want that either. This family… this family is best when we all pull together.

Ridge: Yeah, we are. Dad, you’ve given so much to all of us, the kids, grandkids. But the most important gift… was this. Of us connecting and having a place that we can call home. And you did that. So, be proud of that.

Eric: I am. I am. I’m proud of it, but I’m very proud of this collection right here.

[ Eric laughing ] There’s so much stuff here. I gotta get it out. It’s all in here, it’s just pouring out of me and it’s my whole life. It’s– it’s who I am. I have to get this all out and– and there’s so much of it. And I don’t know if you can understand this, but– but, uh, I just feel like I’m running out of time, sometimes.

Ridge: Yeah, we understand that, dad.

Eric: Yeah. Yeah.

Deacon: Hey, sweetheart. Thanks for coming. Uh, can I get you anything?

Hope: No, I’m good. Uh, actually, I should be at work, so what’s this all about?

Deacon: Well, before we get into that, I– I just want you to know that I’m sorry, we didn’t see each other for thanksgiving. I missed you.

Hope: Oh, you understand why I kept my distance, right? Is she here today? Is she working? Is sheila here?

Deacon: No, uh, not at the moment.

Hope: Okay, good because i don’t want to be around her, but sadly, that also means that I don’t get to be around my dad.

Brooke: Ah, it was really a wonderful day.

Ridge: Forrester thanksgivings. They always are.

Rj: Yeah, family, friends, food galore.

Brooke: It’s just hard to really enjoy it… knowing what we know.

Ridge: I always thought my dad would be there. You know, every party, every special occasion. Now, he’s slipping away more and more every day. And we have to pretend that everything’s fine.

Eric: So, ladies, tell me, uh, tell me what you see?

Katie: I see eric forrester sitting behind his desk, reveling in his triumphant glory.

[ All chuckling ]

Eric: Thank you. And, um, anything else?

Donna: I see a man who won the fashion challenge, reclaimed his office and control of his company. Who’s at the top of his game and the top of the fashion world again.

Eric: Imagine how that makes me feel.

Katie: We love seeing you like this.

Donna: Just like we love seeing you at the head of the table on thanksgiving.

Katie: Forrester family patriarch whom we all love and cherish.

Eric: Thank you. Yeah, one might think that I don’t have that much to be thankful for this particular– particular thanksgiving, but, um, they’d be wrong because I get to get up every morning and– and– and create beauty for the whole world to see. And– and I can get– I can be celebrated for it and– and be given credit for it. I mean, what could be better than that?

Deacon: Let’s not dwell on sheila because that’s not why I asked you here. I’m hearing that you’re still seeing thomas. Is it true?

Hope: Why do you ask?

Deacon: Because I’m a protective father. And because I don’t think the guy’s right for you.

Hope: Are you being serious right now?

Deacon: Very. Yeah, I am. I mean, you know, given the guy’s history, the hurt that he’s put you through.

Hope: Wow. Wow. I’m really getting dating advice from a man dating a psycho like sheila.

Eric: I want to, uh, I– I want to pull out all the stops for this collection, okay? I wanna do a pr campaign that’s the biggest thing the fashion industry has ever seen. I’ll give you a– I’ll– I’ll up your budget for this, katie.

Katie: Um, excuse me. What?

Eric: Whatever you need. Whatever. [ Coughing ] Anything you need, katie.

Donna: Eric. Honey bear.

Katie: Eric, are you okay?

Eric: Yeah. Yeah, I’m okay. Yeah. You know my mantra. I’m not dead yet. Look, the whole world thinks that I’m– I’m alive and well and I’m at the top of my game. I don’t want that to change.

Rj: Granddad’s dying and we’re supposed to just act like it’s no big deal.

Brooke: Honey, it’s wonderful how much you’ve been there for your grandfather. How much you love him and care for him.

Ridge: He turned to you because he needed you, and you were there for him. And you guys, you created this amazing line that’s gonna live– that’S… the fashion world is gonna remember. And that means a lot to dad. So in a way, you’re keeping him alive. Well done. He hits his mark -center stage-and is crushed by a baby grand piano.

Deacon: Um, I got a pretty good idea how you feel about sheila. But hope, right now, I’m more concerned about you. You can’t tell me that you’ve forgotten all the crazy stuff that thomas has done.

Hope: Oh, you want to talk about crazy? Thomas is a saint compared to sheila carter.

Deacon: He’s got his own fair share of demons. You can’t have forgotten.

Hope: Dad, you don’t need to remind me of thomas’ past misdeeds. I mean, I know better than anyone. I haven’t forgotten.

Deacon: Well, I’m thinking maybe you have if you’re buying what this guy’s selling.

Hope: Thomas has changed for the better. And he is loving and caring toward me and he doesn’t have conflicted feelings, unlike liam.

Deacon: Baby, look. I don’t want to fight with you.

Hope: I don’t want to fight with you either. But, dad, you have to– you have to understand that things don’t just get to go back to normal now, right? I’m disappointed in you for even entertaining the idea of being involved with someone like sheila carter. For wanting to risk everything that you have worked so hard for, dad. I am hurt because you are choosing her over me.

Eric: I like this color. I think this color is beautiful.

Katie: It’s exquisite, eric.

Eric: Thank you, katie. Thank you. [ Coughing ]

Donna: Okay. Okay, that’s enough. I cannot let this go on. We need to call your doctor.

Eric: No, no. No, I don’t wanna see the doctor.

Katie: I– I have to agree with donna. Eric, you should at least check in.

Eric: No, no, katie. Every time I– every time i visit the doctor, it’s like visiting the grim reaper. You know, he– he– I don’t want to spend my last days being brought down by that. I want– I want to spend my days creating beauty. That’s what I want.

Donna: Okay. I– I get that. I really do. It’s just– okay, you know what? I– I’m not gonna push because the last thing you need is me nagging you like that.

Eric: The last thing you would be is– is a nag. You don’t nag me. I thank you both so much for your– for supporting me so much. Thank you. Thank you. But I don’t want my dying to consume my living. As long as I’m breathing, I wanna be able to create. I wanna be able to design. It gives me peace. Especially if this is my last– especially if this is my last collection.

Brooke: Rj, your father and i are worried about eric. But we’re worried about you too.

Rj: No. Don’t– don’t worry about me. I’m completely fine. I’m fine. I’m– I’m just– I’m gonna be working day and night to help granddad bring this line to life. That’s what I’m doing.

Ridge: Yes, of course. Because that’s the kind, considerate young man that you are, but… don’t take all of this and put it on your shoulders. It’s not necessary.

Rj: No. I– I am. I’m going to put this on my shoulder. This isn’t about me. This is about granddad. That’s the focus.

Ridge: I get that. I– I understand, but seeing him grow weaker and weaker every day, that’s not–

Rj: That– that’s not what I’m seeing. When he’s– when he’s in the creative zone and he– and he’s– and he’s focused on the design, it brings him life. It energizes him because he loves this. I– I– I just want to help him with that. I– I feel like that’s really important.

Ridge: What your mom and I are saying is–

Rj: I can see what you and mom are saying and I love the two of you. I do. I love you so much, but I need to do this. Okay? I need to know that when granddad’s passed on that I did everything that I could to… you know what? We just need to make sure that his medical diagnosis doesn’t get out. He can’t know that all these people know that he’s dying and he can’t know that he lost the fashion challenge, dad. That would–

Ridge: He’s never gonna know. He’s never gonna know that. He’s got too much pride and he’s got too much dignity to– to ever think that somebody gave him pity. But can we all try to remember something? It’s not like we handed him everything. The– the seat that he’s in is something that he earned a long time ago. Whoa! The new iphone 15. With that amazing camera.

Donna: Eric, please. I– I don’t wanna think about the end.

Eric: How can I not? How can I– if I have to face the last few months of my life, I’m gonna face it the same way I faced everything in my life. Every challenge. With courage and– and with determination. I mean, look– look at this. Look at this. All this– these ideas, they’re just pouring out of me. I– I can’t stop. I have to keep designing. If this is my last chance, I have to do it. If this is my– if this is my last collection, this is what I have to do.

Rj: No, you’re right. Granddad keeps– he keeps pushing himself. He’s putting– he’s getting out one incredible design after another. And you know, when he’s in that creative zone, he is unstoppable. I– I can’t, you know, I– I’m just trying to keep up with him. Honestly, keep up with what he’s telling me.

Katie: Hey, I’m glad you’re all here. I just came from eric and donna. Ridge, if you could see him sitting behind his desk in his chair. He’s so proud. I’m telling you, letting him win the fashion challenge, it was the most beautiful thing you ever could have done for him.

Ridge: Okay. All right. But there’s got to be something else we can do. There’s gotta be something we can do to keep him with us. No, I– I just thinking of this office without him in it. This– this family without him here. I– I don’t know how to do this.

Deacon: Honey, I’m not choosing you over sheila. I could never do that.

Hope: Well, you say that, but then you’ve gone and made her more a part of your life now than– than I am. And so, there obviously must be a little more care.

Deacon: That’s not true. Hope, I love you.

Hope: And I love you too, dad, but you knew what you were doing. You knew what you were risking.

Deacon: There’s like an– there’s like a disconnect here. You’re asking me to accept the fact that thomas has changed, right? Why won’t you believe my intuition that sheila’s changed too? Why won’t you extend me the same benefit of the doubt?

Hope: I understand that you think our circumstances are similar here. They are not, dad. Sheila is actually dangerous.

Deacon: You mean everything to me. You and douglas and beth. I love those kids, I adore them and I haven’t seen them in ages.

Hope: Because of sheila.

Deacon: Wait– wait a second. Are you– are you telling me that I can’t see them anymore?

Hope: Well, dad, as long as you are involved with sheila carter, I– I…

Deacon: Okay. Look, she doesn’t have to be with me, okay? I’ll make sure of it.

Hope: Dad, don’t you get there are consequences to your actions? And I knew I couldn’t trust sheila carter. But now I– I don’t even know if I can trust you.

Deacon: Honey, please, listen to me.

Hope: Dad, there is nothing more that you can say. Okay? As much as it– it kills me to say this to you. As long as sheila carter is a part of your life… you don’t get to have access to mine.

Hope: I don’t know how sheila did it. How she managed to manipulate you of all people? But, dad, she’s using you. And you need to wake up because she is dangerous. And I will not allow her or anyone who is close to her near my children.

Deacon: Hope, she’s different now.

Hope: Dad, people like that, who are missing that empathy part of their brain, they cannot change.

Deacon: But thomas can? I changed. I’m not the same man that I was years ago.

Hope: Dad, please. Sheila carter is in a league of her own. And you actually put in the work. I mean, dad! Look at il giardino. Look at everything you’ve done to repair our relationship. Look at– look at how you’re showing up for beth and douglas. I mean, they adore you.

Deacon: And I adore them and I adore you.

Hope: Okay, good. So, then you should understand why this decision is so hurtful. It just feels like you’re choosing you. Yet again. And I don’t– I don’t want to lose you. I never wanted to lose you, dad. But now, once again, you just– you aren’t even considering family or the impact that it might have on your daughter or your grandkids. So, I don’t want this to happen, but if… it will happen if you don’t cut sheila carter out of your life for good.

Brooke: Maybe I should have gone with ridge and rj.

Katie: I think they wanted to see eric on their own. Spend some time with him.

Brooke: Yeah. Something he doesn’t have a lot of.

Katie: I know. I was with him earlier and he was coughing up blood.

Brooke: What? He should be in the hospital.

Katie: I– I don’t disagree with you but it’s– it’s not our choice to make. It’s his choice. We have to respect it. I know that my situation is not the same thing, but I– I know what it’s like to face your own mortality. You know, my– my heart could stop any day. Which is why you have to take every day and– and– and appreciate it as the precious gift that it is and– and live every moment. And I think that’s what eric is doing. He’s– he’s doing what he loves. He’s designing and creating, and it’s inspiring. But it’s– it’s heartbreaking.

Brooke: But he is so– he’s so courageous. And you know what makes it hard is the fact that he built up this wall, and I just wish that I could get through to him.

Katie: I know.

Brooke: Or one of us. We just need to be able to tell him the truth. The truth that we know. That way we can love him and we can support him. The way that he needs, until the end.

Eric: I’m– I’m particularly proud of this one, actually. I like how it turned out. It– it gave me a hard time at first but– but it’s come out really wonderful, I thought.

Ridge: It’s breathtaking, dad.

Eric: I had a hard time at first, but then I had a lot of wonderful, great help with my extraordinary right-hand man. Rj, um, well, you know how I feel about you.

Rj: I– I do. Same way I feel about you, sir.

Ridge: Well, listen, all of this– this whole collection is uh, is amazing. And I know– I know you wanna– you wanna do this on your own.

Eric: Absolutely, I want to do it on my own. You have no idea how important that is to me.

Ridge: No, I– I do. I– I do understand that. I just– look, everything I know I’ve learned from you and those– those are special days for me.

Eric: I’m glad you haven’t forgotten.

Ridge: I would never forget any of that, dad.

Eric: Yeah?

Ridge: You’ve given me everything and– and– this is your collection. But even michelangelo, I mean, he had help painting the sistine chapel. He didn’t do it alone. He– you have help. You have my son and maybe it would make sense to have your son help as well. And I– I will stay in the background. I just thought maybe this would be a time for me to repay you for everything you’ve done. Not just as a dad, but as– as a– as a mentor, and I– I just, I don’t want anything. That’s a lie. What I want is to work with you one last time. What do you say?

[ Ridge laughing ]

Ridge: That. That giggle and that look. Whether it’s across a crowded room at a party or…

Broke: Or riding up on horseback to get married?

Ridge: Mm.

Ridge: I’ve been caught up in the beauty of you for as long as I can remember, I’m thankful for you, brooke.

Brooke: Oh, thank you. Wow. Did you do all this?

Ridge: And then, I tried to recreate it because I wanted to win you back and you wouldn’t have me back. For good reason. And then I proposed to you.

Brooke: Stephanie’s ring.

Ridge: She’s had it for years. Now, I want you to have it.

Brooke: Are you asking me to marry you?

Ridge: And then I surprised you with a heart in the sand. You’re not leaving me. Not now and not ever. Thankfully, I got through to you right outside this building. Responsible for so many happy memories. Yeah?

Ridge: He is a forrester.

Rj: Yes.

Ridge: But he’s not my son. In his perspective, that’s the thing that’s made all the difference. And I picked you because you’re my kid.

Rj: You think it’d make a difference if he knew the truth about granddad?

Thomas: What is happening here?

Hope: What are you talking about?

Thomas: You. You just get sexier and more beautiful every time I see you.

Hope: Hm. Well, I think you might be just a little bit biased.

Thomas: Ah, because I’m in love with you? You feel the same?

Hope: Oh, did I say that?

Finn: You didn’t need to rush right over.

Li: Well, my son wants to see me, I’m there. What did you need? Patient consults?

Finn: No. Um, we need to talk about your sister and my cousin luna.

Bill: You look so familiar, but I– I just can’t figure out why. Have we met? Oh, you know what? I’m sorry. I– I should’ve introduced myself. I’m bill spencer. And you are?

Luna: Uh, hi. I’m luna nozawa and this is my mom, poppy.

Bill: Hi, luna. It’s nice to meet you.O.

Poppy: Hello, bil

Bill: You look so familiar, but I– I just can’t figure out why. Have we met? Oh, you know what? I’m sorry. I– I should’ve introduced myself. I’m bill spencer. And you are?

Luna: Uh, hi. I’m luna nozawa and this is my mom, poppy.

Bill: Hi, luna. It’s nice to meet you.

Poppy: Hello, bill.

Li: Why would we need to talk about penelope and luna?

Finn: Because they’re here in L.A.

Li: Ah. That won’t be the case much longer.

Finn: Well, that’s not the impression I got from luna last night.

Li: Last night? You saw your cousin?

Finn: Steffy and I had her and rj over for dinner.

Li: Well, why would you allow that girl into your home?

Bill: Poppy, poppy… that doesn’t ring a bell, but I cannot shake this feeling that we’ve met before. Maybe a long time ago? New york?

Poppy: I haven’t spent any time there.

Bill: Oh. How about san francisco? I used to go back and forth on business there quite a bit.

Luna: Yeah, yeah. We’re from san francisco, so maybe you guys met there. Maybe you share a few friends.

Bill: Yeah. Maybe– maybe we had some friends in common. I went– went to same parties, bars. Of course, now you have your beautiful daughter.

Luna: Oh, that’s so nice. Thank you.

Poppy: It was nice to meet you, bill, but I don’t think we know each other.

Zende: We brought hope for the future back from the dead, the three of us, and it’s performed very well. We should be rewarded for that, not penalized.

Hope: Look, I’m not thrilled about the financial reallocations either, but I am trying to roll with it.

Thomas: Yeah, it happens. Right? One line gets put on hold while the other one launches.

Zende: I get that and I’m certainly not opposed to granddad getting back in the design game. But why would he choose to collaborate with rj?

Rj: I’m just saying that maybe we should tell zende about granddad. Then at least he would understand, you know, why certain choices were made?

Ridge: Well, I don’t think so. I think it’s time for me to honor my father’s wishes. I haven’t been doing that lately.

Rj: Um, what do you mean you haven’t been doing that lately?

Ridge: Well, I told steffy, I told thomas and that’s wrong. As far as zende is concerned, I think it’s gonna be fine.

Rj: I just– I don’t want any bad blood between us.

Ridge: It’s gonna be fine. We’re family.

Rj: Dad, we’re a family that’s about to lose its leader. (

Li: Gotta give credit where it’s due. Luna moves fast. Not only is she apparently dating rj forrester, she managed to get herself invited to your place for dinner. Ah, a chance to cozy up to the boss up close and personal.

Finn: Mom, steffy is an excellent judge of character. She’s a forrester. She’s hyper alert for any agendas. And she didn’t sense any of that on luna’s part and neither did I. I know you have issues with aunt poppy.

Li: Penelope.

Finn: Whatever. But they don’t carry over into my relationship with luna. I’m happy that she’s here working at forrester. And I expect that we’re gonna spend a lot more time together, so I made her a promise.

Li: What kind of promise?

Finn: That I would do whatever I possibly could to make sure you and her mother repair your relationship and get along like sisters should.

[ Li laughing ]

Li: Well, be prepared to break your promise because that’s not happening. Not in this lifetime.

Luna: I’ve– I’ve seen you in magazines, so I have to ask, are you– are you bill spencer from spencer publications?

Bill: One and the same.

Luna: You were married to brooke logan a few years back.

Bill: Uh… [ Chuckles ] Our relationship did get quite a bit of press, yeah.

Luna: Well, I’m an intern at forrester.

Bill: Oh, you’re kidding? Well, what a small world. You’re obviously into fashion.

Luna: Oh, yeah, ever since I was a little girl. I mean, I’ve made it my business to stay current on everything that’s going on both on the runway and behind the scenes.

Bill: And how are they treating you over there?

Luna: Oh, amazing. Everyone’s so kind.

Bill: Good. Good. Now, if that changes, you let me know and I’ll set them straight for you.

Luna: Okay.

Bill: You must be proud.

Poppy: Always. Luna’s the best part of my life.

Bill: I can see why. I just cannot shake this feeling that I know you. And I– I normally don’t forget names and faces.

Poppy: Well, maybe it’ll come back to you one day or maybe I’ll remember. But for now, I’m having lunch with my very busy daughter, whom I don’t get to see enough of.

Bill: Well, let it never be said that dollar bill can’t take a hint. Luna, it was nice to meet you. And nice to meet you again… poppy.

Zende: Rj was handpicked to design with eric because of ridge.

Thomas: I’m pretty sure dad had nothing to do with it.

Zende: Thomas, this naive look, it doesn’t look– it’s– it’s not good on you. It’s not even convincing. You, steffy and now rj have the edge around here. And what do you have in common? You’re ridge’s kids.

Thomas: Okay, zende, this is a family business. You got here somehow, right?

Zende: Oh, yeah. Thank you for noticing.

Thomas: Look, I’m sorry that you’re feeling passed over, but I know for a fact this was granddad’s decision.

Hope: It’s true, zende.

Zende: Guys, rj didn’t even want to be in the business. He told me as much when he came back, like, what, 20 minutes ago? Meanwhile, I’ve been here the entire time. I basically worked to resurrect hope for the future. And granddad starts a new line and I’m not even in the running to design with him? It really feels like rj has home court advantage because he is ridge and brooke’s son.

Ridge: I know it must have been difficult working with granddad knowing that his days with us are almost coming to an end.

Rj: No. I– I was grateful. I feel grateful for every single second that I’ve got to spend with him. It’s been– god, it’s been an honor to– to– to try to help him fulfill this vision. It was an honor that he even chose me to work with him.

Ridge: That’s my dad. He makes good choices. Picked the right man for the job. You know, maybe he was making up for some time that he didn’t have with you.

Rj: Then I’m glad I came back when I did. You know, he’s– he’s an incredible educator. This has been an– this has been quite the education, but, um… he opened up to me in ways that he never has before. And it meant a lot to me.

Ridge: Well, you will carry that with you for the rest of your life.

Rj: I will. And his legacy too. I’m gonna carry that with love and honor and pride.

Luna: Well, that was exciting. I can’t believe we just met bill spencer. You know, he’s a really big deal. Like, spencer publications owns magazines and television stations here. See? He hasn’t really changed much over the years. Are you sure you don’t remember seeing him?

Poppy: I don’t think so. I mean, I think I probably just look like someone he used to know.

[ Phone chiming ]

Luna: Oh, shoot. I’m sorry. I have to get back to work.

Poppy: Yeah, yeah. No problem. We can do lunch another time.

Luna: Are you sure?

Poppy: Yes. You go and be brilliant and important.

Luna: Mom, I’m just an intern.

Poppy: The best intern.

Luna: Oh, my god. I love you.

Poppy: I love you more.

Luna: Okay, bye.

Poppy: Bye.

Li: My sister isn’t who you think she is. She has you believing she’s some scattered little hippie chick, smiling her way through life. Luna doesn’t even know who her father is. So, you made a promise to luna you stand no chance of keeping. This reconciliation you want with my sister and me will not happen.

Hope: Got a minute?

Ridge: Sure. What’s up?

Thomas: Um, well, we were hoping we could convince you to breathe new life into hope for the future’s budget.

Hope: Yes, it would be money well spent.

Thomas: Yeah. Look and– and it’s money that you’ll get back with the new collection and so–

Ridge: I know. I know. And I don’t– I don’t doubt any of that, but you know that the money that was earmarked for hope for the future is going to dad’s collection.

Thomas: I understand that. It’s– look, we– the whole team is– is a little frustrated. And when we’re trying to– wheel spinning, right? And I was hoping maybe you might have some extra money lying around, but I totally understand granddad comes first. He is number one priority.

Hope: Well, especially now considering…

Ridge: I get your frustration, I do.

Thomas: Yeah. Our team is– is really frustrated. I don’t think I’ve seen zende so upset.

Hope: Well, I think his anger was directed a little more at rj.

[ Luna sighing ]

Rj: Hello?

Luna: Hi.

Rj: Hi. You already back from, uh, having lunch with your mom?

Luna: Yeah. It got interrupted. Uh, eric asked me to receive the french lace delivery, so I had to cut it short.

Rj: I’m sorry to hear that. I’m not sorry to see you though.

Finn: Look, I don’t pretend to understand all the dynamics you have with your sister, but luna is innocent. She is sweet and she is kind and she is trying to make something of herself. She’s willing to put in the time and the effort that it takes and I think that’s something to be admired.

Li: Having either one of them here is a bad idea.

Finn: Well, I guess I’m gonna have to find out for myself. ‘Cause now that luna’s in L.A., I wanna get to know her better.

Rj: I’m think about that a lot. The next time I’m gonna kiss you.

Luna: Well, it seems to be happening more and more often.

Rj: Mm. That’s true. Is that a problem?

Luna: No.

Zende: Ridge is looking for you.

Rj: Well, why didn’t he just peek his head in and ask me himself?

Zende: Maybe he wanted to save himself the walk?

Rj: Oh, okay. Well, um, we’ll pick up this conversation later.

Luna: Okay. Uh, do you– do you need something?

Zende: You have no idea.

Rj: Hey, you wanted to see me?

Ridge: Um, I– I always want to see you ’cause you’re my son and I love you, but not… I’m, um– okay. Uh, why are you here?

Rj: What do you mean, why am I– zende just told me that you wanted– he just peeked his head into the design office and said you wanted to see me.

Ridge: All right. All right. Uh, it– it doesn’t matter. I think– I’m glad you’re here. Maybe we should keep talking about zende and what’s going on.

Rj: You know what? Yeah, we should. You know, he’s– he’s changed dramatically all of a sudden. He used to be a very chill, easygoing guy. What’s going on with him?

Ridge: Well… he was on a path. He thought he was gonna be a certain someone and then you showed up and threw a wrench in it.

Rj: You know I didn’t do that deliberately. You know that, right? I– I– granddad asked me to do something, he needed me and I did it. And the reason why he asked me was because he had a very big secret and you know what that secret was.

Ridge: Yes. We all know what that secret is, but zende doesn’t know. He doesn’t know that granddad’s dying. You know what he sees? Some young guy with no experience coming in and taking a job that should have been his. So he feels he’s getting lost in the shuffle.

Rj: But that’s not true. He’s– come on. Zende’s a very talented designer. Everybody knows that he’s a talented designer.

Ridge: Everybody knows that. That’s what makes it hard for zende.

Ridge: Yes. We all know what that secret is, but zende doesn’t know. He doesn’t know that granddad’s dying. You know what he sees? Some young guy with no experience coming in and taking a job that should have been his. So he feels he’s getting lost in the shuffle.

Rj: But that’s not true. He’s– come on. Zende’s a very talented designer. Everybody knows that he’s a talented designer.

Ridge: Everybody knows that. That’s what makes it hard for zende.

Zende: So, I couldn’t help but notice, you and rj?

Luna: What about us?

Zende: Well, you’ve been spending a lot of time together. It’s pretty obvious you’ve been getting close.

Luna: Yeah, well, rj is a good guy. We just– we enjoy each other’s company.

Zende: Yeah, okay. Way to play it down. For the record, interoffice relationships are not really frowned on here. Basically, everyone has had one. My one piece of advice: Make sure the door’s locked. You are a terrific intern, luna. You came in here, you rolled up your sleeves. You basically handled everything thrown your way.

Luna: Well, yeah, my job is to do whatever anyone needs, so.

Zende: Is that so? I’m not sure if you’re aware of my– my background, my experience, but I went to the finest schools, went to forrester international in paris. My designs have been featured on runways around the world. I live and breathe fashion. And I suspect it’s the same for you.

Luna: Yeah. Yeah. How did you know?

Zende: I can tell.

Luna: I mean, I can only hope to be as good as you one day.

Zende: You know, it’s really nice to be appreciated. That means more to me than you know. Just, uh, keep in mind, rj isn’t the only forrester coming up around here.

Rj: My take on zende is very different than yours, dad. I don’t want to seem paranoid or anything, but, um, I think he’s out to get me.

Ridge: That does sound a little paranoid. There’s nothing that zende can take from you.

Ridge: Thank you. Well, uh, I’m pretty sure I know why you called this meeting. Lack of funds for hope for the future and everything being filed into my dad’s line.

Zende: I’m happy for him, that’s great for granddad.

Ridge: Really? But you don’t look happy.

Zende: I am not thrilled about hope for the future being benched, but I understand the reasons.

Ridge: Okay.

Zende: What I don’t understand is why I’m being benched in favor of rj?

Rj: It’s cute how nervous you were last night.

Luna: Anyone would be. Meeting steffy forrester, I mean, the steffy forrester.

Rj: Oh, the– the steffy forrester.

Luna: No, I mean, she’s like my role model, a legend. Thankfully, a very friendly, down to earth one. She made me feel right at home.

Rj: Yeah, because she liked you. You’re very likable, you know?

Luna: You think?

Rj: Oh, yeah.

Luna: I hope so. I mean, I really wanted to make a good first impression.

Rj: You did. You made– you made a great first impression, I’m not gonna lie. She was impressed. But she’s not half as impressed with you as I am.

Sheila: Thank you so very much and we’ll see you again. Welcome to il giardino. My name is sheila.

Bill: Yeah, I know exactly what you are. This whole act you got going here ain’t fooling anyone.

Sheila: [ Laughs ] I– I don’t know whether to be surprised or impressed. A lot of people are boycotting since I came back to work, but not you, bill? You must love the pizza.

Bill: I’m not here to eat.

Sheila: I’d start you with a cocktail, but clearly, you’ve had a few.

Bill: I’m here to put you on notice. Stay away. You will stay away from us. Especially steffy and finn.

Rj: I don’t see why you’re so worried about steffy. Look, she’s– come on, she’s married to your cousin, so she has to like you. She’s obligated.

Luna: No, no, no, in-laws are historically problematic. Like, being finn’s cousin might have worked against me.

Rj: Okay. That’s fair. But when you walked in, you definitely had a secret advantage.

Luna: What?

Rj: Well, my sister took one look at how important you’ve become to me and that just sealed the deal right there.

Luna: You’ve become pretty important to me too.

Rj: I just had a great idea. Did you just watch me have a great idea? Because I have a great idea. I know how we can celebrate the success of last night’s dinner.

Luna: Oh, that sounds fun.How so?

Rj: By having lunch right now. Let’s go, come on. Oh, wait, sorry. Are you available?

Luna: I really want to, but rain check, okay?

Rj: Mm-hmm. I, um– I have plans to meet my mom today.

Sheila: Don’t you have companies to buy and sell? You know, crush the little people?

Bill: What do you think I’m doing here?

Sheila: And yet, I still stand. I am curious, though. Why the vested interest in my relationship with my son?

Bill: I couldn’t care less, quite frankly. Not that I want to see anybody suffer at your hands, but it’s my granddaughter I’m concerned about.

Sheila: Kelly?

Bill: Yeah, kelly. My son’s daughter. I don’t want her mixed up in whatever scheme you got cooking up in that twisted brain of yours.

Sheila: See, the only thing I am cooking up these days, pizza and masalas. And to be more exact, I’m delivering those. And in case you didn’t hear, I saved kelly’s life.

[ Bill scoffing ]

Bill: Oh, yeah, how convenient. You just happened to be there. Stalking your son and my granddaughter. You probably lured her into the ocean with some candy.

Sheila: Oh, my gosh. The gratitude is overwhelming.

Bill: I’ll have gratitude when you’re back in prison. You had something on that judge. You paid him off.

Sheila: Something you’d know a lot about, huh, bill? So, can I get you anything? I hear the meatballs are to die for.

Zende: It feels like I’m being forgotten.

Ridge: How do you even say that? You’re a very important part of the hope for the future team. I don’t know what else to tell you.

Zende: A line we’re not even posting on right now. And honestly, ridge, even when we are, I report to the lead designer, your son. When the opportunity to work with granddad came up, was I even considered or did it just automatically go to your other son? I’m talented. I’ve proven myself and yet, I’m passed over?

Ridge: It may seem that way right now, but listen, this industry is– is always–

Zende: I grew up in the industry too. With extremely successful and talented designers for parents. I am your sister’s son. I don’t know, ridge, maybe that’s the issue. I’m her son, not yours. It feels like you are willing to push aside every other member of this family as long as your kids get to shine.

Rj: Lunch with your mom? That’s great.

Luna: Thank you for being understanding. I– I promise I won’t be out too long.

Rj: What? No, no. Take your time. Seriously. It’s not like we clock in and out around here. No one’ll notice.

Luna: Are you sure?

Rj: Yeah, of course. No, you told me she’s not in town a lot, you’re excited to see her and you should spend as much time as you can with her. Honestly, I was lucky that I got to meet her. She’s– she was a sweetheart. She seems like someone cool to hang out with, too.

Luna: You want to know something?

Rj: What?

Luna: Ever since I was little, sleepovers were always at my house. And all of my friends wish that their moms were as chill as mine.

Rj: Sounds fun.

Luna: Yeah. I had a really fun childhood. I mean, would I have liked a little more structure? Maybe, but I’m not really complaining. I appreciate how free-spirited my mom is.

Rj: Complete opposite of your aunt.

Luna: Oh, shoot, I am so much later than I thought. I have to get going.

Rj: Go. Go, go, go. Just– just say hi for me.

Luna: Will do.

[ Both chuckling ] Luna nozawa, clocking out.

[ Both laughing ]

Ridge: No one’s doubting your talents, zende.

Zende: You’re just, uh, choosing not to tap into it? Seriously, why is rj working with granddad and not me?

Ridge: Dad is dying?

Zende: It’s insulting.

Ridge: How long does he have, do we know? How long does he have? Dying. Dying.

Zende: Rj literally has zero design experience. For you to pick him and not me–

Ridge: I didn’t pick him. My dad picked him. And everything– everything, the way it’s being handled, is the way my dad wants it.

Sheila: Okay, so you came to put me on notice. Message received. But you don’t need to come to harass me at my place of work, when I’m just trying to lead a normal, simple, good life.

Bill: You do understand that being a waitress isn’t going to cleanse your soul or make you wholesome?

Sheila: Why are you really here, dollar bill? Did you miss me?

Bill: Like food poisoning. How deacon could–

Sheila: Oh, wait, wait, wait, that’s it, that’s it. That’s why you’re here. You found out about my relationship with deacon and you wanted to see for yourself?

Bill: You actually believe you could have a long lasting relationship with deacon? For that matter, that any man could ever commit to you?

Sheila: Yeah. We’re taking it slow and we’re gonna see what happens. But things are going really well. And– and I’m happy. And that bothers you, doesn’t it? Especially since things didn’t work out with katie the way that you were hoping, from what I hear. But you know what? You should– you should use this as a positive moment, you know? A– look at it as a time where you can put yourself out there, because from everything you ever told me, you never ever had a problem doing that. So, maybe this is just a– a blessing in disguise.

Luna: Hi, mom.

Poppy: Hi.

Luna: Hi. Hi.

Poppy: How are you, sweetie?

Luna: I’m sorry I kept you waiting.

Poppy: Oh, you’re a hard working forrester intern. I understand. So, how’s it going?

Luna: Mom, I have literally never been happier.

Poppy: Hm. Because you’re working in the fashion industry or because of that handsome young man who also works there.

Zende: Granddad has been one of my biggest supporters from the moment I put pencil to paper years ago. I don’t buy for a second that he would choose to work with rj instead of me.

Ridge: Try not to let it get to you.

Zende: Are you sure you just didn’t convince him that your wayward son needs some direction? Hey, why not toss him a couture line?

Ridge: I didn’t pick rj. My dad did.

Rj: Hey, zende. He’s– he’s right. Granddad reached out to me to help him design.

Sheila: But deacon has taken a liking to me and I to him. He makes me feel worthy of a– of a fresh start and he’s helping me. He’s keeping me on the straight and narrow. Hello? Oh. I get it, of course. You’ve always had an eye for beautiful women. And you’re staring. You just can’t help yourself. So, I am going to let you enjoy the view because you have also pointed out so thoroughly that I have tables to tend to. But let me know if you need anything.

Bill: I need you to disappear, leave town and never come back. And stay the hell away from my family.

Poppy: So, how was dinner with finn?

Luna: It was awesome. It was so good to see my cousin again. And he and his wife were so welcoming.

Poppy: Good. You and finn always did have a special connection.

Luna: And oh, my god. Steffy is even more beautiful in person, it’s crazy.

Poppy: Were you nervous to meet her?

Luna: Oh, I was so nervous. Mom, I don’t think you quite understand how much of a superstar she is in this industry.

Poppy: Oh, no, I get it. I’ve seen her on the cover of those magazines you read.

Luna: No, but you know what the best part is? She is literally so nice. Like there’s nothing arrogant about her, even though she’s this huge fashion icon. I don’t know, I’ve just– I’ve been having a lot of fun getting to know the forrester family. I just– I really admire how loving and close everyone is.

Poppy: Unlike our family?

Luna: No, no, no. I don’t mean it like that. I mean, you’ve been such a great mom to me. Look how close we are. But, you know, I was– I was raised differently. Not in terms of like money, but in terms of people, like having a community. It’s always just been the two of us. And look, I don’t– I don’t want you to think that you were a bad mom, but… sometimes, when I look at rj, it like, makes me realize how lucky he’s been.

Rj: Hey, listen. Zende, I can understand why this seems a little bit strange.

Zende: Strange? Woo, there’s an understatement. Rj, this is beyond strange. It’s offensive. Not only is hope for the future being put on the back burner, which is fine, it happens, I’m a designer at this firm. You’re not. You’ve actually gone out of your way to avoid being a part of all this. So, for you to suddenly be in the spotlight? I– I’m sorry, guys. Am I missing something here?

Ridge: I’m sure my dad had his reasons for what he did and it’s all gonna become clear.

Zende: Clear. I think it’s pretty clear, ridge. The offspring of the mighty ridge forrester get whatever they want, and the rest of us, we got to fend for ourselves.

Ridge: “The rest of us?” What does that mean, exactly? You think this is what thomas wants? Hope for the future on the back burner? Probably not. We had a competition. I lost. This is the world we live in now. My dad is pushing his line and we’re gonna respect that. And we’re gonna support him. That means all of us. Even those who feel slighted.

Zende: This is not about me being slighted.

Ridge: No?

Zende: No. No, it’s not! I love granddad. I support him. He’s taught me everything I know. This is not about respecting him. But this decision to have rj by his side, rj, who has never designed a thing in his life? Who’s been more interested in putting up content and his likes and his followers than he’s ever been in the art of fashion? But let’s pass the torch down anyway. I mean, why should experience matter if the golden child is available? The anointed one. The only son of brooke and ridge forrester.

Poppy: I think the lasagna looks good.

Luna: Lasagna? I want more of like a pasta.

[ Indistinct chatter ]

Poppy: So, tell me more about last night.

Poppy: Ah, well, the food was delicious, and you might think that they have like, a live-in chef, right? But no, they order take out just like everyone else. Well, obviously, the best part was getting to see finn. I mean, it’s been such a long time, but that connection that you mentioned, it was definitely still there. As strong as ever. Yeah, it’s just– it’s really sad that aunt li did everything she could to keep us apart.

Poppy: It is. And I wish things could have been different. But my sister is who she is. She has a difficult personality. It drives people away. People who love her.

Bill: Uh, excuse me.

Poppy: Yes?

Bill: I couldn’t help but notice you from across the restaurant.

Poppy: That’s sweet, but I’m having lunch with my daughter.

Bill: Oh, no, no, no. I’m not, uh– you– you just look really familiar to me. Do we know each other?

Ridge: Hey, zende, you know this is not about me propping up my kids. It’s not a conspiracy.

>Zende: All right, yeah, it just happens that thomas is the lead designer of hope for the future, and rj gets plucked out of nowhere to partner up with grandad.

Ridge: What are you doing? This is us. We’re a family. It’s a family business.

Zende: It’s a family business that rj never wanted to be a part of. He was too wrapped up in his online presence. Being an influencer. Being influential. Getting his validation from his likes and his followers. Jet setting around the world. Isn’t that what you wanted?

Rj: Yeah, but then, now I– I want to do–

Zende: Do what? This? You just want to do this. You want to just come in here and be a fashion designer. Working with my granddad on his couture line, huh?

Rj: He’s my granddad too, zende.

Zende: Right, right. But you’re not being lost in the shuffle, I am. It is not my fault that my mother is no longer part of the family business. She’s not here to lobby for me. To stick up for me like your dad does for you. So, I gotta stick up for myself. And that is exactly what I intend to do.

Rj: Zende.

Ridge: Don’t let him get to you.

Rj: Dad, maybe it’s just time to tell him. Maybe it’s time to tell everybody.

Ridge: I don’t think so. I told steffy, then thomas, and I just, um– I don’t think it was right. Dad wants to play this his way. I gotta respect that.

Rj: I respect that too, but if zende’s gonna act like this–

Ridge: He’ll understand.

Rj: When? When is he gonna understand? When granddad’s already passed on? And then he’s gonna realize that this massive chip on his shoulder was completely misguided? That’s not fair him. That’s not fair at all.

Ridge: None of this is fair, son.

Rj: We shouldn’t be losing him. He has a lot to teach us. I’m not ready for this. I can’t do this, dad. I’m not ready to have my last conversation with him. I’m not– I’m not ready to– to say goodbye to him. I’m not ready for him to die. This isn’t–

Brooke: Yeah, I don’t even know how you can say that. Her marriage did just end.

Thomas: Yes, it did and I am very sensitive to that.

Brooke: And if you were sensitive to that, you would give her some space.

Thomas: You know, if Hope wants space, she can tell me. And I’m just going to follow her lead on that.

Brooke: Well, just keep your expectations really low. I mean, she may be caught up in this whole thing right now, but deep down, she’s really mourning the loss of her marriage to Liam.

Liam: You are my wife. Of course, I’m always going to care about you, Hope.

Hope: And I’m always going to care about you, Liam, but there’s a line, so you don’t need to worry about me. I’m– I’m fine.

Liam: Sorry. I wish things had gone differently.

Hope: Well, they didn’t. And this is my life now without you. And you’re going to have to accept that.

Finn: Okay, okay, it’s your turn now. I’ve told enough embarrassing stories about my poor cousin.

Luna: No, I mean, did you really have to tell them about the carnival?

RJ: Well, I thought it was adorable. It was adorable.

Steffy: Like, clowns are scary. I mean, remember when I dressed up as one on Halloween and then you locked yourself in your room? [ Laughs ]

RJ: I was two years old, Steffy. You gave me nightmares for years, do you remember that part?

Finn: Well, you guys both have a lot in common, then.

Steffy: You two are really working well together. Helping our granddad with the line.

Luna: I mean, that was exhilarating. It was, like, a total crash course on learning the fashion business and one of the biggest highlights of my life.

RJ: She’s been crushing it. She did awesome, the whole thing.

Steffy: That’s what I’ve heard.

Steffy: I still can’t believe Dad let Granddad think he won the fashion challenge.

Finn: It’s the sweetest gesture.

Steffy: Sweetest thing ever.

Finn: And I respect Ridge enormously for doing that.

RJ: Me too.

Finn: Hey, RJ.

RJ: Yeah?

Finn: Why don’t you and I go for a swim in the ocean?

RJ: Right now? Yeah.

Finn: Yeah.

RJ: I’m super down. Always. Is that okay with you?

Luna: Absolutely. Go for it.

RJ: Sure?

Steffy: Luna and I will be fine. Give us a chance to get to know each other better.

Thomas: Look, it’s always painful when a family splits up.

Brooke: But it goes beyond that. And I don’t think you realize, Thomas, how much she really treasured her life with Liam.

Liam: Well, that same feeling that I had when I married you… it– it hasn’t gone away. It’s still– it’s still there.

Hope: I– I don’t know how you expect me to believe that, Liam.

Liam: I could have done more to show it, but… I’m never going to stop loving you and that’s just– that shouldn’t come as a surprise to you because I think that you’re never going to stop loving me, either. That’s what I think.

Luna: Finn and I were super close when I was little. He was always the protective older cousin.

Steffy: It’s good to have him in your corner.

Luna: Yeah, I mean, it’s been a while. I’m just glad that we’re getting reacquainted again.

Steffy: Well, Finn’s excited you’re here, and I can tell my baby brother is, too.

Finn: All right, we’re heading out.

Steffy: Hey, now. Too bad it’s dark out. Look at those abs. Look at those pecs, baby.

RJ: Hey, don’t grill her too much, okay? Just take it kind of easy on her, please.

Luna: They’re crazy. I’m– I’m too afraid of sharks.

Steffy: Yeah, they– they are definitely crazy. But you should get out there at one point. RJ could teach you how to surf.

Luna: Okay, that I might be into.

Steffy: I can definitely tell you that you are into RJ.

Luna: Okay, well, yeah, I– I always knew he was in good shape, but, wow.

[ Both laughing ]

Steffy: Well, they’re two sweet guys. And got to say, they are easy on the eyes.

Luna: Yeah. Um, can I be honest with you about something, Steffy?

Thomas: Brooke, I mean, you should understand more than anyone, Hope doesn’t want to be with someone where his attention is divided, where she can be with someone who only wants her. I mean, you of all people should understand that.

Brooke: I agree. Hope deserves a man who is completely devoted to her.

Thomas: Just so long as it isn’t me.

Brooke: Look, I know that you’ve been working on yourself, Thomas, trying to make yourself a– a better person. I get it. And maybe Hope sees something that I don’t see. And I know she’s very attracted to you and having fun with this fling, but she’s made it very clear that she’s not in love with you and she may never be. Can you live with that?

Hope: I will always have a connection to you, Liam. We’ve been through so much together and our beautiful daughter–

Liam: Who Thomas tried to convince us was dead.

Hope: You know, you keep bringing that up.

Liam: Yeah, I keep bringing it up and I’m not going to stop bringing it up, and frankly– frankly, I’m appalled that you have.

Hope: I have not forgotten, Liam, but if I let the past rule me, I will never be able to live in the present. Thomas has earned my trust. He’s apologized, he’s taken accountability and not just with empty words, but with action.

Liam: I don’t get you giving that guy an ounce of slack, much less whatever this is.

Hope: All right. Okay, great. Fine. Awesome. Yeah, maybe I have a blind spot where Thomas is concerned. Wonderful. And if you really need to know, sure, we– we are taking things day by day.

Liam: What does that mean? You’re just like– no strings? You’re just having sex?

Hope: Yeah.

Liam: O– okay, so you’re just like, hooking up. See, that’s not you. That’s not who you are.

Hope: Liam, you don’t know me. I’m starting to think maybe you never did. Maybe you just loved the idea of me. But Thomas, he sees me. And I am able to put my wants, my needs, my desires first. And he, Thomas loves me for it.

Thomas: Okay, it’s getting late.

Brooke: Uh, Thomas, I just want to thank you. It’s important that we spoke.

Thomas: And, yeah, look, I understand that you may never believe in my relationship with Hope, but I think that she does.

Brooke: Okay, just don’t read too much into that because it is a phase.

Thomas: I’m not going to choose to believe that. I believe that there’s a future and I honestly believe that it’s possible Hope opens her heart fully to me.

[ Brooke sighing ]

Steffy: Of course, you can be honest with me, what is it? Is it about RJ?

Luna: No, it’s, um– it’s actually about you.

Steffy: Me?

Luna: Yeah, I– I don’t know if you could tell, but this dinner made me super anxious.

Steffy: I get it, you know. Meeting your boyfriend’s family for the first time is a little overwhelming.

Luna: Yeah, it is. But it’s not just because you’re RI’s sister. It’s because you’re Steffy Forrester. I mean, you’re a fashion icon. You’re larger than life. Um, but it’s not just the fame and the glamor. I mean, what RJ said about you is true. He told me what a compassionate, caring person you are and especially clear how much you care about Eric and your brothers and your parents. You guys are just so blessed to have such a strong, loving family.

Steffy: Thank you. That is super sweet. Yeah, we are– we’re very fortunate. We’re always there to support one another, especially when one person is struggling.

Luna: Yeah, I mean, that’s what I experienced with RJ. That same sense of loyalty. I mean, he’s a wonderful guy. How could I not fall for him?

Steffy: Well, that’s why I invited you over. I can definitely see that the feelings are mutual. And I know it’s still new. You guys are still trying to figure each other out, but I like this whole vibe.

Luna: Yeah, me too.

Finn: Hey.

RJ: Hey. It’s incredible out there. What’s going on? What were you two talking about?

Steffy: Wouldn’t you like to know?

[ Both chuckling ]

Hope: We ended our relationship, Liam. You don’t get to dictate what you think my life should look like.

Liam: I’m not– I’m not– I’m not dictating. I’m not– I’m not dictating. I’m not shaming, I’m just– I’m– I’m concerned about some of the choices you’re making, that’s all.

Hope: Look, I’m sure that this is a lot for you to take in right now. I mean, me being dressed in lingerie for another man.

Liam: It’s not just any other man. Not just any other man.

Hope: Liam, you threw us away! Thomas adores me. And he loves me and only me.

Liam: So did– so did I.

Hope: No, you didn’t. Liam, I wanted your full heart. That’s all I wanted. But for years, I mean– I’m not sure if you will understand this concept, but, um, just because you aren’t sleeping with Steffy doesn’t mean that you aren’t keeping her on the back burner. It doesn’t mean that you’re not withholding a piece of your heart for her. It doesn’t mean that you’re not just keeping the door open just a little bit for the possibility of Steffy. So, no, I never got all your heart.

Liam: I begged you. I begged you not to– not to go back to work with him. I begged you not to turn to him and– and– and then– then there you were. You were kissing him in Rome.

Hope: You still ran to Steffy.

[ All chuckling ]

Finn: No, Luna, seriously, I can’t tell you how cool this is for me.

Luna: I mean, this was such a blast, you guys. Thank you so much for inviting me.

Finn: And look, I know you’ve been having some trouble with my mom.

Steffy: What about Li?

Finn: I– I’ll– I’ll fill you in later. Look, whatever beef between Aunt Poppy and my mom, I mean, that’s between them. It shouldn’t affect our relationship. I always want you to feel welcome here.

Luna: Thank you, Finn, that means the world to me. I just– I wish our moms could get along.

Finn: Yeah.

Liam: Hope, I’m desperate here to– to get through to you, to stop you from wanting to be with Thomas.

Hope: Liam.

Liam: You said yourself, no strings attached, right? And God knows, I mean, how could there be right? Given everything that he’s put us through. I mean, is this– really? This is like– this is how you want to spend your time?

Hope: I don’t know what to tell you, Liam. I don’t– I don’t know how to answer that. I– I don’t know what the future will bring. I just know that I am trying to be present, and I am open to anything.

Hope: I might.

Liam: With Thomas?

Liam, I– I love you and I know you mean well and I don’t know if I’m making the right or wrong decision. I don’t have the answers. I just know what I want.

Liam: Thomas.

Hope: Yes. Thomas makes me happy. Liam, and I–

Liam: Oh, great. That’s– that’s great.

Thomas: Liam. What are you doing here?

Liam: I have a child who lives here.

Thomas: Yeah, the kids are over at Katie’s. You okay?

Liam: Are you– what kind of question is that? I’m sorry, can we not– like, can we just– can we stop this? Can we end this now? Can we end it?

Hope: Liam. I know you loved me. All those years. But, Liam… as much as it pains me to say this… this is not your home anymore. So, yes, we will parent Beth together, but the man in my life now… is Thomas. A man who loves me with all of his heart. And I love him for that.

Hope: Thank you, mom. I knew you’d have more candles up at the house.

Brooke: Is this why you’re having Katie watch the kids?

Hope: Uh, yes. And I appreciate all the help I can get.

Brooke: All right. Well, I see what’s going on here. Would you like me to bring you some lingerie too?

Hope: Mom!

Brooke: Hope, come on. You know how I feel about your relationship with Thomas.

Luna: I know I shouldn’t be nervous, but I am.

RJ: You’re nerv– why are you nervous? It’s just my sister and your cousin. It’s just family.

Luna: No, Finn’s family. But Steffy’s the CEO of Forrester Creations and she’s a world renowned fashion icon. I just, I don’t know. I just, I really wanna make a good impression.

Finn: I’m– I’m so sorry.

Steffy: He’s– I just can’t believe it.

Finn: Is there anything I can do?

Steffy: My grandfather’s dying. His condition is so hopeless that he doesn’t want anyone to know about it, and I’m just supposed to just pretend like everything is normal when all I wanna do is just grab him and never let go.

Finn: Let’s reschedule tonight.

Steffy: No, no. I don’t wanna do that. We already sent the kids off with my mom. And I am looking forward to meeting the woman who is spending so much time with my little brother.

Hope: Uh, Mom, I think it’s pretty obvious that Thomas and I won’t be looking at fabric swatches tonight.

Brooke: Hope, please just hear me out. I understand that you wanna try to move on with your life and maybe have a little fun, especially after what happened today, but why does it have to be with Thomas?

Hope: Mom, you know why. We have a bond. We know each other. We trust each other. And I don’t have to beg for his undivided attention.

Brooke: Honey, that attention was unwanted at one time, remember? And very obsessive.

Hope: Okay, well, it’s not anymore. And Thomas is going to be here soon, so I should finish getting ready. So please, Mom, don’t worry. I got it under control. Everything is fine, okay? Everything is fine.

[ Brooke sighing ]

Luna: You think I’m being ridiculous.

RJ: No, I don’t think you’re being ridiculous. You’re right. Steffy’s a big deal in the fashion world. But hey, come on. One day, you could be too.

Luna: Okay.

RJ: What? What are you laughing at? No, I’m serious. Luna, come on. Look at you. You have drive. You have passion. You were able to handle all of the major players at that fashion show perfectly. My granddad already loves you. I mean, come on. I could go on. I hear– I hear, it’s a rumor, that, you know, the newest designer at Forrester is actually really taking a Liking to you.

Luna: Oh, yeah?

RJ: Yeah. Yeah, it’s a rumor, you know. Luna, I think his big sister is gonna realize just how beautiful and charming you are, just like he does.

Finn: Wild my cousin’s working at Forrester.

Steffy: You didn’t know Luna was into fashion?

Finn: Well, anyone who’s ever met her knows that. It’s just quite the coincidence.

Steffy: Well, she’s been good luck for us. Everybody at Forrester raves about her. And it seems like, uh, RJ is her biggest fan.

Finn: Well, I’m pretty sure you’ll be a fan, too, after tonight.

Steffy: I really hope so. Because RJ is such a sweet guy and he deserves a special woman.

Finn: That’s what my mom always said about me. Look how that turned out.

[ Knock on door ]

Hope: Thomas, you’re early.

Finn: Hey, what’s up?

RJ: Hi. Good to see you.

Finn: Come on in.

Luna: Hi.

RJ: For you, for the evening.

Finn: Oh, wow. Thank you. Oh, this is– this is great. I thought you were more of a beer guy.

RJ: Yeah, well, you know, special occasion. I thought– hey!

Steffy: Hi.

RJ: What’s up? Good to see you.

Steffy: Luna, so wonderful to meet you.

Luna: Hi. This is– I’ve– it’s– it’s wonderful to meet you, too. [ Chuckles ]

Steffy: Well, make yourself at home. We have charcuterie. We have some drinks. Come on in.

Finn: Yeah. Yeah, guys, come– come in.

RJ: Oh, this looks good.

Finn: Luna, like, how are you Liking L.A.?

Luna: I mean, I still can’t believe that I’m actually here. I mean, I’m driving past like, so many famous locations like movie studios and Beverly Hills. It’s pretty crazy.

Finn: Yeah. I– I was just saying how wild it is. I mean, my cousin is here living in L.A. And she’s working at Forrester Creations.

Luna: Yeah, it’s surreal. I mean, so much has happened in such a short amount of time.

RJ: Yeah. And she’s– she’s been a huge help too as well with Granddad’s collection. I mean, we– we could not have done it without her. She was helping getting all the materials we needed with that beautiful smile on her face the whole time.

Thomas: No, no, no. That’s actually, uh, that’s a great idea. Um, yeah, but actually I’m– I’m heading outta the office right now, but maybe we can talk about a first thing? I’ll talk to you then. Okay, bye.

Brooke: Oh, good, Thomas, you’re still here.

Thomas: Uh, yes, I am. But I am leaving actually right now.

Brooke: You in a hurry?

Thomas: Yes, I have dinner plans.

Brooke: Okay. Well, that can wait. I’d like to talk to you before you go see Hope.

Hope: What are you doing here, Liam?

Liam: What? Uh, well, uh, Beth has a– a sleepover this weekend and I thought she could, uh, use her sleeping bag. She’s not here, obviously, is she?

Hope: No, she is with Katie.

Liam: What is this? What– what– what are you doing? What are you wearing?

Hope: Oh, this– this is, uh, called lingerie.

Liam: Yeah, I know it– are you– are you expecting Thomas?

Hope: You know what? I will make sure that Beth has her sleeping bag when you come to pick her up, okay?

Liam: Okay. Well, I– I’m sorry. Hold on. We’re– we’re just not gonna talk about the scantily clad elephant in the room or what?

Hope: What? What? What? What do you want to know, Liam?

Liam: What I wanted– what I– touché. I guess I don’t know what I wanna know because– I– I– I– I’m sorry. I never asked you how far you and Thomas have gone because I didn’t think I wanted to know and– and now–

[ Liam scoffing ]

Hope: And now you know.

Steffy: So, you weren’t intimidated at all helping Eric Forrester create his most opulent line ever?

Luna: Uh, no. It was actually really fascinating and so inspiring, the way Eric just threw himself into his craft and he just found so much joy in everything, despite all that’s happening to him. I’m sorry, RJ told me that you just found out.

Steffy: Yeah. Still trying to process it.

Luna: I shouldn’t have brought it up, I’m sorry.

Steffy: No, it’s– it’s fine. It’s fine. I’m glad that you did. I think we should just get it out, you know, as a family.

Finn: Eric’s just not ready.

Steffy: Neither am I. Thought of losing our grandfather is unthinkable.

RJ: It’s okay. I couldn’t process it either when he told me and I had all these questions for him and– sorry. Yeah, it’s just, yeah. He just wanted to work on the collection, so that’s what we did. We got it done.

Luna: Yeah. I mean, it wasn’t grim, though. I mean, it was really long days, long hours, but, um, you and your grandfather made it really fun.

Finn: Well, something tells me that you helped with that, too.

RJ: She did. He would be– we’d working those long hours and he would start getting frustrated with the design or something and she’d just come right in and she’d like, ask him a question about his history in the fashion industry and his legacy. It was perfect. She was– she was amazing.

Luna: I mean, his stories were amazing and so funny.

[ Luna laughing ]

Steffy: Thank you, Luna. Seriously, thank you for being there for RJ and our grandfather, helping my brother carry this burden and distract our grandfather from this illness. You allowed them to enjoy their time together and I… I couldn’t be more grateful.

Thomas: If you know that I’m seeing Hope, then you know I don’t wanna be late.

Brooke: Okay. Uh, look, it’s been a long emotional day for everybody. So, maybe it’s best that you spend some time with your sister, your father.

Thomas: Anyone but your daughter. Look, I get it, Brooke. You still have misgivings about me, but your daughter doesn’t.

Brooke: That’s what worries me the most.

Thomas: What do you want me to do? You want me to apologize again?

Brooke: Apologizing doesn’t help unless you change your behavior.

Thomas: But I have changed my behavior. I– I have over and over again and you’ve told me that you’ve seen the change in me, the progression and so has my sister and my father. My entire family has, and so has your daughter. She’s told me that she truly believes in me now.

Hope: It’s already been a tough day. I just really want to unwind and enjoy my night with Thomas without any kind of drama, all right?

Liam: You– you wanna unwind with– are you even– are you even hearing yourself?

Hope: My plans don’t have to meet your approval, Liam.

Liam: Candles, wine, Lingerie. This is– this is the guy who let us think our daughter was dead, and now you’re inviting him into that same daughter’s home?

Hope: Beth and Douglas are away for the night.

Liam: Beth wouldn’t even be in our lives if Thomas had his way. We would still be grieving right now. Do you ever– do you ever think about that?

Hope: Liam, that was years ago. It wasn’t yesterday. And I get that this is a shock for you!

Liam: As an exercise, maybe just try imagining a life without Beth. Just– just imagine that. Imagine the kind of mind it takes to see your grief, to see your suffering and think, “Oh, this is going according to plan.” Just imagine that for a second. Then tell me how you wanna unwind with Thomas.

Steffy: Okay, Listen. Gotta admit something. We’ve, uh–

Finn: We’ve got– we’ve been really– we’ve been really busy.

Steffy: Yeah, we have. I mean, obviously, with family stuff and me being away and–

Finn: We– we normally, but we just did not have time to cook.

Steffy: So, we– we ordered in.

Finn: Yeah.

Luna: Okay. Well, takeout’s my favorite food group.

RJ: Takeout is the food group, so yeah.

Finn: But you guys are gonna love this place. It’s– it’s right down by the pier. Um, and– oh, unless, um, do you still have that thing about fish?

Luna: Oh, my gosh! How do you still remember that?

Finn: Well, it turns out taking your little cousin to a seafood restaurant after visiting the aquarium is a supremely bad idea.

Steffy: Ooh. Yeah.

Luna: Okay. But I have matured a lot since then.

Finn: No. Yeah, but it– but it sounds like you’re just as sensitive and caring as ever.

Steffy: Well, that’s exactly what we need at Forrester. It’s so important to have people in your life that you can rely on knowing that they’re gonna be there through anything. That’s what matters. Real security. I’m just glad to be home with my family. Be back at Forrester. I’m really excited to work with you again, RJ. And I’m excited to get to know you more, Luna.

RJ: Well, here’s to the future.

Steffy: To the future.

Finn: To the future. Cheers.

Thomas: Look, I can’t help the way that you feel right now, Brooke, but I’m also not gonna allow your emotions to affect mine.

Brooke: Thomas, I’m concerned about you as well. I don’t want you to get hurt in this situation either.

Thomas: Nobody is going to get hurt. Hope and I have told you that.

Brooke: Okay. I don’t get it. You are a handsome, successful man surrounded by beautiful, intelligent women everywhere you go.

Thomas: Thank you. But like I’ve told Hope, I only wanna be with her.

Brooke: She doesn’t feel the same way. She doesn’t love you like that, Thomas.

Thomas: She has been burned by love. She doesn’t even believe in it right now.

Brooke: And she’ll never forget the pain that you caused her and her family. That will always be there. There is no way around it.

Thomas: I understand where you’re coming from. Look, yes, we’ve been having amazing times recently. That hasn’t changed that we have had issues in the past. It’s very complicated, but the– the moments that we have had over the last few months have been incredible.

Brooke: Okay. Well, Hope is lost right now. She’s not herself. But she’s going to find her way back. And when she does, this connection that you feel like you have with her is going to be cut.

Liam: Okay. So, you have just forgotten everything Thomas has done to us.

Hope: No, Liam, I haven’t.

Liam: I mean, like, should we review this is the same guy who, uh, convinced us our daughter was dead, used his son to get close to you.

Hope: Thomas has taken responsibility for that, Liam. He’s grown.

Liam: Oh, give me a break. The closer he gets to you, the more unhinged he becomes. How do you not see that by now?

Hope: Because Thomas has changed, Liam. How have you not seen that? And so have I.

Liam: What does that even mean?

Hope: It means I’m not the same woman I was before. I mean, my world got turned upside down when our marriage imploded. And after years of forgiving you, to see you not offer me an ounce of understanding, for you to just turn your back so callously? And I thought I knew you. So, uh, yeah. No. Now, I see the world in a whole new way, and you, of all people, do not get to stand there and judge me.

Liam: I’m not– I’m not– I’m not judging you. I’m scared for you. Move on if you want, just not with Thomas.

Hope: Oh. Oh, you mean a man that prioritizes me and who doesn’t have eyes for other women? Who loves me? Yeah. You don’t get to sit there and tell me to move on and dump him when things got hard for us and you went and ran to Steffy.

Liam: I am sorry that I hurt you… but you and I are connected for the rest of our life because of our daughter, because of Beth. My kids are the most important thing in the world to me. I love them, which means I’m gonna worry for them, which means I’m gonna worry for you. And damn if I don’t still love you. Always will.

Steffy: Granddad’s been sick the entire time I’ve been gone? I– I wouldn’t have left if– if I knew.

Ridge: Don’t do that. You couldn’t have known. We didn’t know.

Steffy: How’s Donna?

Ridge: She’s okay. It was hard for her in the beginning because she didn’t have anyone, but now she’s got Katie and Brooke. That’s why she went over there now.

Steffy: Oh.

Thomas: This, uh… it doesn’t feel real.

Steffy: Yeah.

Thomas: Right? He can’t– he can’t go. I’m not ready to lose him.

Ridge: I’m not either.

Donna: Honey, um, why don’t we just chill by the pool today? It’s– it’s a gorgeous day.

Katie: You know, you did what you wanted to do. You won the fashion challenge. You beat Ridge. I think that deserves a little bit of a breather.

Eric: To the victor belong the spoils. I’m going to go into my building, into my office. I’m gonna put my feet on my desk.

[ Eric coughing ]

Donna: Here you go.

Eric: Thank you, but it’s all right. It’s all right. I’m fine. I’m not going to die today.

[ Eric coughing ]

Eric: I’m sorry. Excuse me. I have this, uh, this cough thing, and every time– every time I cough, she thinks it’s gonna be the death of me. What– what do I owe this visit?

Brooke: Uh, well, I have a break in my schedule and I thought it would be nice to spend some time with my sisters.

Eric: Ah, good.

Brooke: So, are you going to the office?

Eric: Yes. Yes. My office. Yes, I am. Uh-huh. Is Ridge there?

Brooke: Yeah, he is.

Eric: Good, good. I want to see him. I want to talk to him. But don’t worry, I won’t gloat about his loss. Not too much. I’ll see you later. Bye.

Brooke: Bye. How are you holding up?

Donna: I don’t know. I’m just trying to hold it together, you know. It’s been killing me, keeping this a secret.

Brooke: Yeah. Well, uh–

Katie: What is it? What’s going on?

Donna: Brooke, what?

Brooke: Uh, Ridge couldn’t hold back. He said he couldn’t look his kids in the eye and just lie to them, let alone hide his feelings, so…

Donna: What are you saying, Brooke?

Brooke: So, he– he told Steffy and Thomas the truth about their grandfather.

Thomas: So, we’re really supposed to keep this a secret?

Ridge: Granddad doesn’t want anyone to know.

Steffy: Just act like everything’s fine?

Carter: Seems like I walked in on something.

Ridge: Just filling Steffy in on what she missed.

Carter: Okay. Maybe you can fill me in too? You’ve been avoiding me. Do they know?

Ridge: Do they know what?

Carter: About the fashion challenge? The showcase that Eric won?

Ridge: Yeah, they know.

Carter: Okay, then I need answers. After months of hard work, us bending the budget forwards and backwards so this showcase can happen, you what? You just– you just give away the win? Your designs outsold Eric’s that day, so why did you let him believe you won?

Donna: I can understand why Ridge would wanna tell Thomas and Steffy about Eric. I mean, it would be too difficult to keep it from them, but listen, Eric cannot know that they know.

Brooke: They understand.

Donna: Thank you. Now, I just– I just have to pull it together because I– I need to be strong for Eric.

Brooke: Donna, you’ve been his rock through this.

Donna: But then why do I feel like I’m just falling apart?

Katie: Because you shouldn’t have to go through this all by yourself.

Donna: Well, what choice do I have? I mean, I– uh, Eric doesn’t want anyone to know.

Brooke: I wish he would just give up on the need to feel like he has to keep his condition to himself. We could all be there for him and love him and support him. But instead, we have to play this charade and pretend like everything is fine when nothing could be further from the truth.

Donna: I know.

[ Knock on door ]

Hope: Hi. Um, is Eric around because I had a few ideas for hope for the future and I– Aunt Donna, is everything okay?

Donna: Yeah. Why? Of course, everything’s fine. I just, um– um– I–

Hope: Mom. What is– what is going on?

Brooke: Uh…

Donna: You can tell her.

Hope: Tell me what?

Brooke: Sweetheart, it’s Eric. He’s sick.

Hope: Sick?

Brooke: Well, it’s awful, really. He’s– he’s dying. Eric is dying.

Carter: What is this, Ridge? Come on. Why are you avoiding my question? You let Eric believe he won the fashion challenge. Why?

Ridge: I wanted to see him happy. It means a lot to him.

Carter: No, I know how much you were looking forward to winning. I was there when you saw the numbers. I showed them to you. Now, you weren’t thrilled it got this far, but you were happy you won. You believed you should be sitting behind that desk. You asked me to keep it quiet. You wanted to be the one to tell Eric he lost. And out of nowhere, I hear that you announced him and RJ the winners? You see, the more you avoid my question, the more I want an answer. Talk to me, man. What is this? There has to be a reason. Do you two know why?

Ridge: Carter, just…

Eric: Well, look at this.

[ Eric chuckling ]

Eric: I’m glad to see that my office is being used as a conference room. That hasn’t really changed. Although, I have to say, I don’t want anyone to sit behind my desk, all right?

Ridge: No one’s gonna sit in your chair, Dad, because winner takes all, right?

Eric: And I will. Yes, that’s right. I forgot that a little healthy competition is really good for an artist. And you did that to me. You did some really wonderful work and you forced me to do some of the best work in my career. In– in my whole life.

Ridge: Is this you saying thank you? Is that what this is?

Eric: No, although I do appreciate it. It was really fun beating you. What’s this? Why are you all looking like that? Oh, I think I understand. Your father got to you, didn’t he?

Steffy: Yes, he did. He told us everything.

Hope: I don’t understand. How could Eric be dying? He seemed more energized than ever. He completed his last collection. I mean, he beat Ridge in the showdown, so…

Brooke: I know, I know. We were all shocked to find out about his condition.

Hope: How long has he been sick?

Donna: Um, well, uh, we– we– we started seeing symptoms a few months ago.

Hope: So, he’s– he’s just been in pain this entire time?

Donna: Yeah, we thought the tremors was just arthritis really, and– and that’s why we asked RJ to help him design because he couldn’t sketch.

Hope: So, that’s how RJ became involved in all this?

Donna: Yeah. RJ was Literally Eric’s hands.

Brooke: Eric is a very proud man, so it was devastating for him to think that maybe he wouldn’t be able to design anymore.

Donna: Especially when he felt that he had so much more to create.

Hope: Oh, so that’s why he wanted to call this collection his grand finale.

Katie: What’s crazy is that if Ridge had known about Eric’s condition, he never would have tried to stand in Eric’s way.

Donna: Well, we didn’t know the full extent of it at first. We just thought that we’d have time to figure it out, you know?

Hope: I’m so sorry, Donna.

Brooke: Honey, it’s important that you don’t let Eric know that you found out. Because he only thinks that Katie and Donna and RJ know.

Katie: But word is spreading.

Hope: But why wouldn’t he want everyone to know?

Donna: He doesn’t want to be pitied.

Hope: We wouldn’t pity him. We love him. He’s always been there for all of us and now, when he needs our support the most, we’re just, what? We’re supposed to pretend like we don’t know? I’m sorry. That’s just– Mom…

Brooke: I know, honey. I know.

Eric: So, what exactly did your father tell you? Thomas?

[ Eric chuckling ]

Eric: Your– your kids are tongue-tied here? Well, I think they can’t quite believe that their grandfather beat the great Ridge Forrester.

Ridge: Well, if I’m great, Dad, it’s because of everything you’ve given me.

Eric: What about you, Carter? Were you surprised that I won the fashion challenge?

Carter: I have to admit, yes. But not too surprised, though. You’re Eric Forrester. I’m very excited to see you back at the forefront for many years to come. Now, I should get going. Thanks to you, I have several orders to manage. Catch you later, Ridge.

Eric: Nobody should be that surprised. Not really. I mean, I’m older, God knows. And, uh, I’ve lost a few steps here and there, but there’s still a lot of– a lot of gas in the tank. And besides, we do art here. Art lives forever. It never dies and it’s our job to be sure it’s never forgotten. It’s like, uh, like this– this old stapler here. It’s been here since the very first day. Helping– helping this– this company start from the beginning and to last forever, but he got– he got lost and he got forgotten for a while. But now, it’s back, like me. These are going to be mighty days at Forrester. They really are. And I’m going to make the most of every day I have left.

Ridge: Dad, you–

Eric: Look Ridge, uh, you know, I’m not naive. My days are limited. Time is not on my side.

Steffy: Grandad, please don’t say that.

Eric: Steffy, it’s true. Look, I’m not gonna just, uh, go quietly off into the good night somewhere. I’m not gonna do that. And Ridge, you– you, hey, you want me to– you wanted me to just retire. To sit back and Llie back on some– some yacht somewhere. But life is meant to be lived and I intend to live every day of my life until my last.

Brooke: Ridge has told Steffy and Thomas about their grandfather.

Hope: And how did they take the news?

Brooke: Well, like you. Shocked and in disbelief.

Hope: Oh, I just don’t understand why he thinks that we would pity him? When we could support him and show him our– our– our love.

Katie: It’s his decision.

Hope: Maybe it’s the wrong one. I’m sorry, but…

Katie: No, no, I– believe me. We all felt the same way when we found out about Eric’s illness, but it’s not about how we feel. It’s about how he feels. It’s his decision, how he wants to live his life. And he says he wants to live until he dies.

Donna: Exactly. That’s– that’s what he keeps saying. No sorrow. No tears.

Katie: We can love and support him by honoring his wishes and not treat him like he’s dying. Just try to treasure every moment we have with him.

Donna: That’s so hard, but that’s what I’m trying to do. To– to live in the moment. To love in the moment. And as– as horrible as this is, Eric’s happy. I mean, you should see how excited he is about life. I mean, you should have seen him designing with RJ in this room. He was– he was on fire. And– and the look on his face when he learned that he won the– the showdown. That’s what he wants to do, until the end. Smiles and laughter and love.

Brooke: Don’t worry, honey. We’ll all get through this together, as a family.

Eric: Time stops for no man. Not even your grandfather. And don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere very soon, and certainly not after my greatest achievement.

Eric: It was fun, wasn’t it?

Ridge: It was. You inspire me.

Thomas: You inspire me too, Granddad. You know, I don’t– I don’t know if you actually remember this at all. I must have been like 14. Yeah. Um, I had an art project for school.

Eric: I know. I know. It was the, uh… it was that watercolor.

Thomas: Yeah.

Eric: Yeah.

Thomas: That was it. It was amazing. You just, I– it made no sense to me, right? And you were just eager to help. That’s always how you are. You’re just, you’re– you’re thoughtful, you’re caring and you’re always there and um, it meant a lot to me. But you– you taught me then, but you still continue to teach me now. Not just as a designer, but as a man.

Eric: Yeah.

Steffy: The truth is you’ve always been a light in our family. I remember when I was really little, when I’d come here and yeah, I was kind of excited to see the gowns, but I was really excited to see you working behind the desk and creating.

Eric: I thought it was just because of the jelly beans in the top drawer?

Steffy: Yeah, that– that,  too.

[ Eric laughing ]

Steffy: But even when you were so busy, you always– you always made time for me. I looked up to you then and I still look up to you. You know how close we are. like we’ve always had this connection and maybe part of it is because I’m grandmother’s namesake, but…

Eric: Two beautiful, wonderful, fearless women.

Brooke: I know you’ve been trying to reach Thorne and Kristen and Felicia. So, have they gotten back to you yet?

Ridge: No, not yet. I’m dreading this. I– I don’t want to tell them about Dad. I don’t want to talk about it. How did we get here? I– I know– I don’t want to lose my dad.

Brooke: I know that. And Eric is everything to all of us.

Ridge: Okay. Um, Rick and Bridget, did you get in touch with them?

Brooke: No, actually that’s something I would like to tell them in person. Haven’t told Hope yet either. What about Steffy and Thomas?

Ridge: I texted them. They’re on their way over. They deserve to know about their granddad.

Eric: No, no, Aldo, no, no, no. I was the driving force behind the new Couture line, not Ridge. Uh, of course, I had– I had the help of my wonderful grandson, RJ. I couldn’t have done it without him. Sorry, Aldo, I’m gonna have to call you back. Yeah, ciao. I’m okay. I’m fine. I’m fine.

Luna: Your grandfather and you, you guys are uber talented.

RJ: Well, it’s no secret, Eric Forrester has been king of the fashion world for decades. And uh, he still has so much more beauty to create. It’s just not fair what’s happening to him.

Luna: Look, you’re right about your grandfather. His amazing talent and the gift that he’s given the world with his elegant designs throughout the years, but I’ll bet if you asked him, he’d say that his greatest gift is you and his family. The Forresters. It’s the family he adores who adores him. Look, I know how much you love and respect him, RJ.

RJ: I do. It’s just– I just don’t believe this is it for him.

Luna: Mom! But I thought you left.

Poppy: I was about to, but I got detained by your Aunt Li.

RJ: Hi. I’m Ridge Forrester, Jr. RJ. It’s– it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’ve heard so many good things about you from her.

Poppy: Well, it’s lovely to finally meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you from my daughter.

RJ: You have? Good things, I hope? Yes? No, she’s– she’s been an incredible addition to Forrester Creations. I’m so happy she’s here.

Donna: You need to call your doctor.

Eric: Why? So he can tell us what we already know? That my time is running out.

Donna: I wish you would stop saying that.

Eric: It’s the reality, darling. It’s a reality that we all have to face together. I’m sorry.

Katie: Hello. Hi.

Eric: Hey.

Katie: Um, everything okay?

Eric: Yeah, it’s fine.

Donna: Yeah.

Katie: I’m not interrupting anything?

Eric: No, not at all. You’re always welcome here.

Katie: Okay. How are you doing?

Eric: I’m fine. How are you?

Katie: I’m well. I’m actually here because I have an update regarding the fashion challenge. As you know, no one outside the building was aware that you and Ridge were going head-to-head.

Eric: And that I beat him. Taught my son a lesson.

Brooke: You made a beautiful sacrifice, allowing Eric to win the fashion challenge.

Ridge: I just wish I could change things.

Brooke: I know.

Thomas: Hey. Got your text.

Steffy: Yeah. What’s– what’s going on?

Thomas: What’s up?

Ridge: Well, there’s something we both need to know about your grandfather.

Luna: I’ve always wanted to be where I am right now. Interning at a major design house like Forrester Creations. Learning from the best. I’m just– it’s all a dream come true.

Poppy: Well, your mother couldn’t be any prouder of you. To see my beautiful baby girl realizing her dream, it brings me such joy.

RJ: Oh. She’s– she’s been a wonderful addition to everyone here at Forrester. And the other day she, uh, she found my granddad’s stapler. Which is– which is a long story, which I’m not gonna get into, but she’s great.

Luna: Um, RJ’s grandparents founded Forrester Creations like many years ago. And his grandfather is highly revered by everyone.

RJ: Yeah, me especially. He’s, uh, he’s taught me a lot.

Poppy: About fashion?

RJ: Yeah. And life. He’s a– he’s one of the strongest people I know.

Poppy: I can see how much he means to you.

RJ: He does. So, does she. She’s– she’s been amazing here. Truly. No, truly. I mean, it. She’s been incredible and uh, I’d hate to lose her.

Eric: I really feel vindicated, you know. I think I proved a point. I won the fashion showdown fair and square.

Donna: Oh, you certainly did. You poured everything of yourself into that. You worked so hard. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you so driven and focused.

Eric: I don’t think Ridge thought I could do it. And I couldn’t have done it without RJ’s help. The boy’s a godsend.

Katie: You two make quite a team.

Donna: Yeah.

Eric: He’s a great kid. I hope he continues on at Forrester. I really do. Honing his skill and his talent. The fact is he can do anything in life, actually. He’s gonna– he’s gonna shine whatever he does.

Katie: I don’t think anyone would disagree with that.

Donna: Well, certainly not his parents.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: I know Ridge and Brooke are so proud of him.

Eric: I hope he finds somebody in this life to love him and stand– stand with him, support him, the way you do with me. I hope he does. Although, I must say, maybe he’s already found it with Luna. I’ve seen them together.

Katie: How would you feel if that were to happen?

Eric: Oh, oh, this– this wonderful, wonderful new, uh, intern who– who found my old stapler for me? Oh, my God.

Katie: Okay. I guess that answers that question.

Eric: Yeah, it does. It does, doesn’t it? It just feels so wonderful to have proven to everybody I still have it. And to prove the naysayers wrong.

Donna: Well, you certainly did that, didn’t you?

Eric: Which is why I need to get into the office. I need to get into the office. I have all these ideas going around in my head, you know?

Donna: What?

Eric: I– I can’t– I can’t control when– when– when the creativity hits. You know that.

Donna: Wait, wait. You have more designs?

Eric: Yeah, I do. I’m gonna, you know, at least I have to flesh out this Couture line of mine.

Donna: Okay. All right, honey bear. I’m– I’m just a little bit confused here. You– you– you won the show and you got your office back.

Eric: I did.

Donna: You– you had your grand finale, your final line.

Eric: Well, I’m not gonna just sit in my office and stare at the four walls. This was a wonderful success. And every Couture line deserves an encore.

Donna: Okay. But what about taking care of yourself? Remember the– spending time together as a family? And travel?

Eric: Yeah– yeah, we’re gonna do all that. We will. But the irony is here I am at the end of my life and I feel more alive and vibrant than I ever have.

Thomas: Okay. So, what’s up with Granddad?

Steffy: Yeah. Does it have to do with the fashion challenge?

Thomas: It probably does. I mean, Granddad won, you lost.

Steffy: We were both kind of surprised about that.

Thomas: Yeah, totally. We thought that you’d end up on top.

Steffy: Okay. What’s going on here? What is this look?

Thomas: Yeah. Did Granddad upset you or something?

Brooke: Uh, no. No, he’s not upset with Eric. It’s quite the opposite.

Steffy: Okay. So, can you tell us what’s going on?

Ridge: Well, first of all, he– he didn’t win the challenge.

Steffy: What do you mean? Everyone was congratulating Granddad. He said he won.

Ridge: That’s how I wanted it.

Thomas: Okay. Um, catch me up here, ’cause you worked for months, really, really hard to– to beat Granddad, and then at the last minute, you’re gonna give it away to him. Why would you do that?

Steffy: Yeah. Tell us. We need to know.

Poppy: I’m sensing you have something else you’d like to say, RJ.

RJ: No. Yes, actually, I should tell you something. I did, um, exchange a few words, uh, with your sister, Li, somewhat recently.

Poppy: About?

RJ: Luna and– and just, I don’t know, I just didn’t understand why she didn’t want her niece working here at Forrester. I mean, with all– with all due respect, it’s just not her decision whether she works here or doesn’t work here.

Poppy: You told Li that?

RJ: I did. Was I– was I overstepping at all?

Poppy: No.

RJ: No?

Poppy: No, no. That was very sweet of you, standing up for my daughter. Thank you. But still, as I said, I was detained by Li earlier. Your aunt’s not backing down, sweetheart. She’s even more adamant about you not working here.

Eric: Donna, you– you support me in this, don’t you?

Donna: That is not fair. You know, I do. I, um, okay. Okay– okay, this is just a lot to process and I really think you need to call your doctor first because that cough is getting–

Eric: The cough is not a big deal. It’s not a big deal.

Donna: What?

Katie: Okay. Eric. I– I don’t know. You should take it from somebody who knows. When you’re being faced with a life-threatening situation, you should seek out specialists.

Eric: I already have.

Katie: No. Here in Los Angeles, maybe, but there has to be someone. There are specialists all over the world who could possibly help.

Eric: And give me false hope? That’s the last thing I want or need in my life right now.

Katie: Okay. What about Bridget? You have a highly respected physician for a daughter. Have you even talked to her?

Eric: No.

Katie: Why not?

Eric: I still don’t want people knowing about my diagnosis, all right?

Steffy: What about Granddad?

Thomas: Yeah, I– I still don’t get it. So, why would you let Granddad win? I mean, did you feel sorry for him?

Ridge: No. Did I? No. I never loved him or respected him more than when I told him that he won.

Thomas: Okay. But?

Steffy: What are you trying to say?

Brooke: Please understand, this isn’t easy for your father. For any of us.

Ridge: You need to know that– that Granddad, he’s– he’s going through some stuff. He’s got tremors and– and, uh, he can’t hold a pencil. Can’t sketch.

Steffy: Well, how did he– how did he create those designs?

Thomas: RJ. That’s why Granddad was working with him.

Ridge: Yeah.

Brooke: Yeah. That’s right. RJ sketched your grandfather’s vision.

Ridge: My dad didn’t want anyone to know, so RJ kept it a secret.

Steffy: How did you find out?

Ridge: Couldn’t keep the secret any longer.

Brooke: It was tearing RJ up inside.

Steffy: Okay. So, what is Granddad exactly dealing with?

Thomas: Yeah. like, what does he have? Is it like arthritis or something?

Ridge: Yeah. No, it’s not that. Um, it’s not good. It’s a– he’s really sick.

Steffy: How sick?

Ridge: He’s dying. Dad is dying.

Luna: Why can’t Aunt Li just stay out of this? I mean, she’s a doctor. That’s her world, not fashion.

RJ: Did– did it get, like, heated between the two of you in– in the past?

Poppy: My sister has very strong opinions. She likes– she expects to get her way.

Luna: No, Mom, you cannot let Aunt Li do that. This is my life. Plus, I’m your daughter, not hers. She doesn’t get to dictate where I work.

RJ: Maybe if I talk to her–

Poppy: No! Thank you. Thank you, RJ, but I don’t wanna put you in the middle.

Luna: Yeah, well neither do I, but we can’t let Aunt Li ruin our lives, okay? We have to stand up to her.

Poppy: I am so sorry this is happening, sweetheart. I hate it.I see how happy you are here. I think I know a big reason why. But your Aunt Li, I don’t see her backing down or giving in. If she keeps this up, she’s going to ruin everything for you.

Donna: We understand how you feel, Eric. Why you wouldn’t want this going public.

Eric: I don’t want pity. I will not be pitied.

Katie: No one is going to pity you. We just all love you so much.

Eric: All the more reason to let the people I love and the people who love me live their lives, not spend their time prematurely mourning the loss of mine.

Donna: But you have to understand, everyone would want to be there for you.

Eric: That’s exactly the point. I don’t want people gathering around with teary faces and sad eyes. I don’t want that. Not the way I live my life. It’s not the way I want to end it, either.

Steffy: Granddad’s dying?

Thomas: I don’t– I don’t understand. It doesn’t make sense. I– I’ve seen him, right? He’s seemed– he’s– he’s been happy and motivated.

Ridge: Well, he’s really good at covering what he doesn’t want other people to know.

Thomas: Obviously. Finding finding this out… now, it all makes sense. That’s why Granddad was so determined to get out his, uh, grand finale.

Steffy: Who else knows?

Brooke: Donna and Katie. I haven’t told Hope yet.

Steffy: What about Uncle Thorne and the rest of the family?

Ridge: I– I called them. Um, and I’ll deal with that. The important thing now is that Dad doesn’t want anyone to know.

Thomas: Wait, does– does he understand that you and Brooke know?

Steffy: What– what can we do? Is there any hope for him at all?

Ridge: I talked to his doctor. He said give him love and support.

Steffy: No, I– I want to see him.

Ridge: I know. I– I understand that, but for Dad’s sake, we have to keep up the charade.

Thomas: You know when I, uh– I think about Granddad.

Steffy: Oh.

Thomas: He’s– he’s always been there for me. As a man, as a designer. This can’t be happening.

Steffy: No. No, it can’t be happening. I can’t imagine our lives without him. I can’t– I can’t imagine him not being here and I– oh, man, I want Kelly and Hayes to spend more time with him. I wanna spend more time with him.

Ridge: We all want that. We’ll be there as a family and we’ll give him all the love and laughter he can have.

Steffy: I’d never try.

Liam: Hey, look, our lives took different paths but… the love we have for each other, it’s still there. Never went anywhere. I can feel it right now. I know you can too. Ooh, I need a cold shower.

[ Steffy chuckles ]

Liam: I don’t know why you’re putting off the inevitable. Eventually, you’re gonna have to protect yourself and the kids from Sheila. And I can help you do that, Steffy. Leave the guy. Come back to me.

Finn: Appreciate you coming so quickly.

Deacon: Well, I gotta admit I was kind of intrigued by your phone call. So, what’s the occasion? You’re not gonna snap on a rubber glove, are you? Am I overdue for a checkup?

Finn: Yeah, for your brain. If you think there’s any way I’m gonna let Sheila into my life.

Luna: Hey, you want to talk about it?

RJ: No. It’s just… I– I can’t stop thinking about him. I can’t stop thinking about Granddad. The fact that he is– he’s dying and… he’s just not acting like it. like, he’s just acting like this is business as usual. I just wish there was some way I could help him.

Luna: Just keep loving him and be there for him the same way you have been. And listen, you’re not alone anymore. You told your parents about what’s going on, so you can talk to them. And you know I’m here, anytime.

Li: Luna has to go. Do you hear me, Penelope?

Poppy: Loud and clear. But you’re not being reasonable, Li. I mean, Luna would never do anything to hurt anybody. Much less you or Finn. She just wants to work at Forrester Creations.

Li: I’m not having it. Any of it. I want your daughter out of Forrester today.

RJ: Well, I’m happy that you’re not leaving Forrester, though. Even though your Aunt Li really wants you to.

Luna: I don’t get it. You know, I mean, she’s always been so hard on my mom and me. like everything we do spites her somehow.

RJ: Some people are just impossible to please, and maybe your Aunt Li is one of them. I do know one thing though, Aunt Li does not get to dictate who gets to and doesn’t get to work at Forrester.

Li: Luna’s career at Forrester ends today. Have I made myself clear, Penelope?

Poppy: It’s Poppy.

[ Li scoffs ]

Li: No, it’s not. That silly name is not the one our hard-working, loyal parents gave you.

Poppy: Why are you so dismissive of me? Of who I am? You’re my older sister. I want you to accept me. To be close.

Li: You know what you did to me. How you upended my life, almost cost me my career. I won’t let you or your daughter do the same to my son.

Finn: Look, I don’t care if you and Sheila are supposedly in love. And I certainly don’t buy that she’s suddenly some changed person.

Deacon: I– I can’t help but notice that you call her Sheila. She’s your mom. I mean, she carried you. She brought you into this world. Doesn’t that matter to you? Of course it does. I can see that. So can she.

Liam: Finn may be your husband, but he’s also Sheila’s son. And as long as you’re with him, you’re with her. And she will remain as dangerous as ever unless you do something about it now, unless you cut the cord now. We were great together. And I think we could be even better. Alright, now.

Poppy: What do you want from me, Li? Since I can’t change the past, how do I make things right between us? I mean, I’ve apologized over and over again.

Li: You think a few “I’m sorry’s” is going to make up for what you did to me? Never should have gotten you a job at that gift shop.

Poppy: I fell in love.

Li: Oh, God. With a married man? The chief surgeon?

Poppy: I didn’t know that till after.

Li: His wife found out. When she realized that we were sisters, that was the end of me there. I worked hard to become a doctor. Years of dedication and sacrifice. While you– while you just fluttered around like a lost butterfly. No direction, no purpose. Just excuses. Smiling your way through life like you had no worries in the world. What’s with you anyway? Why are you always so happy?

Poppy: It’s easy when you don’t have much. A car that runs. A safe, decent place to live. Friends. My precious Luna. Yeah. And it may not seem like a lot to you, but it’s more than enough for me. Happiness doesn’t have to be dictated by money or success.

Li: Are you belittling my accomplishments?

Poppy: No. Not at all. I am so impressed by and proud of you. But I also wonder, is all that striving worth it if it doesn’t bring you joy? Unless I’m wrong. Are you happy, Li?

Li: What do you think? Knowing what I’ve been through? Finding out the husband I loved and trusted, ;ied to my face every day until his scandalous affair with that sociopath was finally exposed. A woman who tried to kill Finn and me.

Poppy: And I am so sorry for your pain. But there’s a silver lining. I mean, I realize that Sheila’s a dangerous person, but, without her, you wouldn’t have Finn.

Deacon: Sheila wants nothing more than to have a place in your life. A– a place that she’s willing to earn. It doesn’t matter how long it’s gonna take. Look, like it or not, she gave you life. She just wants to be a part of it.

Finn: You know how Steffy feels. She despises Sheila. I don’t want anything to do with her. Sheila needs to accept that and stay the hell away from me and my family.

Steffy: You mean so much to me. And I can’t deny that we’ve had some pretty incredible times. We made a remarkable little girl in Kelly. And you brought so much happiness to my life. And look, I get it, you’re concerned for my safety.

Liam: For good reason.

Steffy: Well, I’m telling you, I can handle Sheila. I’m not running away this time. I am not backing down. And I’m not gonna give up my marriage because of that lunatic.

Deacon: Well, I gotta tell you, I don’t envy you. Caught between your birth mother and your wife. I just– I– I just don’t understand how you don’t want to get to know the woman that brought you into this world.

Finn: Okay, you’re not hearing me. No, Deacon. I don’t. And I didn’t call you here to have some sales pitch on Sheila. I want to let you know in no uncertain terms that woman will never be a part of my life or my family. Now you, you may have wiped the slate clean of every heinous act Sheila’s ever committed, but I haven’t. And I never will and neither will Steffy.

Deacon: Never is a real long time.

Finn: My commitment is to my wife, to my children. They are my family. They are the ones that I fought to be with when Sheila wanted to keep me away. Steffy is my world. I love her more than anything and I won’t risk losing her. Certainly not over Sheila.

Liam: So, what’s the plan here? You’re just– you’re gonna stay in a marriage that constantly puts you and your children in jeopardy?

Steffy: I love Finn. And I’m not walking away from him because of Sheila. I’m not intimidated by her. Look, I love you. I always will. But I am committed to my family, to my husband. And I’m not gonna leave him for anyone, including you.

Liam: All right. I’m sorry to hear that. But just so you know, I’m not giving up because… our story is not finished. In fact, I’m gonna guess it’s barely begun. You and me, we’re gonna– we’re gonna find our way back to each other.

RJ: When did this– you didn’t mention to me that your mom was coming to LA.

Luna: Yeah, I didn’t know. My mom is, um, pretty impulsive, to say the least.

[ RJ chuckles ]

Luna: And also she’s worried about me working here at Forrester.

RJ: Let me guess, because of the overbearing Aunt Li. Ah, I see.

Poppy: Okay, I am not sure that came out right. Hey, I didn’t mean that you should be grateful to Sheila for cheating with your husband. But things happen for a reason. Okay, I believe in fate. That affair produced Finn.

Li: The love of my life. My pride and joy. And everything was perfect in Finn’s life until that deranged birth mother of his showed up. I almost lost him. Imagine if an insane woman put a bullet in Luna.

Poppy: But that’s why I wanted to be there for you. I reached out but you wouldn’t have me.

Li: You should have taken the hint and stayed away. You and Luna. But instead, out of the whole entire world, she ends up right smack in the middle of Forrester Creations? Steffy’s family’s business? And I was supposed to think that’s a coincidence?

Poppy: As opposed to what? A grand conspiracy?

Li: You messed with my life before. I refuse to allow that to happen again with your daughter and my son.

Poppy: You couldn’t be more wrong, Li. Luna came to LA to further her career, not sabotage Finn. Why would she even want to?

Li: Because she was raised by you. Her values instilled by you. A woman who would throw her family under the bus to gratify her own selfish needs.

Poppy: Luna had nothing to do with that. And it’s not right for you to hold her accountable for something that I did. And for the record, again, I did not know that I was sleeping with a married man. And I truly never meant for you to get caught in the fallout.

Li: But that’s who you are, isn’t it? So free and easy. So lovable. The friends, all the friends. The dates. All the attention. Everybody loves Poppy. Talk about unfair.

Poppy: What’s unfair?

Li: That you were able to carry a child and I couldn’t.

Steffy: I thought you had a full day at the hospital.

Finn: I realized the most important thing I have to do is this.

Luna: Mom and Aunt Li didn’t come from privilege. I mean, their parents were working class, so Aunt Li didn’t have any ins or advantages. She’s had to work really hard for everything that she has. But it’s made her really cold and judgmental.

RJ: Well, I mean, that explains why you’re not close to her.

Luna: Well, it’s really hard to be close to her, there’s so many walls up. And, you know, my loyalty is to my mom. She’s always been really hard on her. And it’s been that way for as long as I can remember. I don’t know, I just wish that they could just be close.

RJ: So you wouldn’t have to feel caught in the middle? like you do with your job?

Luna: Give the man a prize.

RJ: I’m sorry.

Poppy: Oh, Li.

Li: No.

Poppy: Is that why you’ve always been so mad at me? Because I carried a child and you couldn’t?

Li: Save your pity. I can’t use it.

Poppy: Now, why would I pity you? You have Finn. He couldn’t be more wonderful.

Li: And I love and cherish him completely. But it’s not the same as it is with you and Luna. You carried her in your womb for nine months. Your own flesh. Your own blood. Finn shares that with Sheila. I share it with no one.

Poppy: Li, I didn’t realize. I thought you made a choice not to have any more kids after adopting Finn. And that being a doctor was a priority.

Li: So many accomplishments in my life. My– my education, my career, the marriage I thought I had. Except for one thing. I can’t bring a child into this world. Something you did so effortlessly.

Poppy: Li, I didn’t know.

Li: I told you, I don’t want your pity. What’s been said here changes nothing. I still refuse to let your daughter interfere in my son’s life.

Finn: I have been thinking about you. All day. I couldn’t wait to take you in my arms. To hold your body close to mine. I missed you like crazy.

Steffy: I missed you too.

Finn: We have so much time to make up for. Couldn’t wait another minute to start. I’m gonna take you into our bedroom and make love to you over and over and over again. And hold you tight and never let go.

Steffy: Well, I’m not going anywhere.

Finn: I’m so madly in love with you. Never question that.

Steffy: I won’t. And I love you so much. And I hated being away from you.

Finn: Well, that’s why I came home. I couldn’t stand it. Couldn’t stand being away another minute. I just had to see you in our home. Look into those beautiful eyes and kiss your Lips. Steffy: Mom, thank you again for all the support you gave me throughout all of this.

Taylor: Well, you are welcome again. You know I’m here for you, always and forever.

Steffy: I do know that. But does take a special kind of person that’s willing to just jet off to Europe with their daughter.

Taylor: Yeah. Jetting off to Europe. I think there are worse sacrifices one could make.

[ Steffy chuckles ]

Taylor: But you know, I would do it again in a heartbeat if, you know, in case–

Steffy: In case what?

Taylor: You know, I– I talked to your dad and, you know, he’s really happy to have you back, of course. But he’s worried. He’s worried about you and the kids. And how safe can– can LA be with Sheila Carter running around?

[ Steffy sighs ]

Liam: In the face? Steffy, she– she punched Sheila in the face?

Ridge: Yeah.

Liam: That is, uh… wow. Damn, girl. I mean, listen, I– I– I understand the sentiment, obviously, but it’s a little risky, don’t we think? I mean the– yes, the punch, obviously, but just going there, just confronting her is risky.

Ridge: If I had known that she was going to the lion’s den, I would’ve stopped her.

Liam: Yes, of course, you would’ve because Sheila is a lunatic. And Steffy doesn’t need more of that in her life. This whole situation, it’s just– you know what I resent? I resent the fact that Sheila is now permanently in Steffy’s life because of Finn.

Finn: Hey, Mom.

Li: Hi. Well, with Steffy and the kids back home, I thought maybe you’d take some time off to celebrate.

Finn: Oh, we’ve been celebrating plenty. Believe me. Never wanna be away from my family for that long ever again.

Li: No reason why you should be. As long as you keep your resolve. I mean it, Finn. Don’t give an inch when it comes to Sheila. Especially now that Liam Spencer has been circling around, waiting for you to slip up. And if you give any kind of opening to Sheila, you’ll lose Steffy. This time, for good.

Finn: I’m being careful, Mom. I’m not losing Steffy because of Sheila. But, changing the subject, have you seen Luna again?

Li: Not much of a subject change.

Finn: Well, I’m just trying to understand why you’re taking such a hard line with her. Yeah. Aunt Poppy did you wrong. Okay, I get that. But why are you taking it out on her daughter?

Poppy: Some things never change. Stuff thrown all over the floor. Am I walking into your place of work or your bedroom?

Luna: Mom, wait, what– what are you doing here?

Poppy: I came to check on my daughter. I’ve been so worried about you, Luna.

Liam: I don’t understand why Steffy would want to be anywhere near that psycho.

Ridge: I do. She wants to set some ground rules and it sounds like she did. Look, I know this is dangerous, but I’m just happy that Steffy and the kids are back.

Liam: That, yeah. I mean… same. [ Scoffs ] Yeah. It’s funny, even when Steffy’s gone for just like a short time, it’s like, uh… it’s like everything feels off. It’s just not– just not as good. The world isn’t as good. Makes me realize how much I, um… need her in my life.

Steffy: Yeah, I know Ead’s worried, but–

Taylor: Mm-hmm. I am, too.

Steffy: I know that. You basically asked, like, a hundred times if it was wise to leave Europe.

Taylor: Oh, come on! A hundred times? It was like 97 times, max.

Steffy: Yeah. Pretty much.

[ Taylor chuckles ]

Taylor: I bet Finn was so happy to see you.

Steffy: Yeah, it was a great feeling. You know, just seeing the look on his face. I missed him so much.

Taylor: I know you did. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room here. Okay? You took the kids and left Finn twice. And I’m– I’m sure Liam is expressing his feelings to you, so… real talk here. Where does it stand with your marriage right now?

Finn: I– is there more going on here? Because it doesn’t seem fair to punish Luna for something her mother did years ago.

Li: I’m not punishing her.

Finn: You told her to leave her internship.

[ Li sighs ]

Li: Because it’s a problem that she’s here, at your wife’s company, mingling with your in-laws. No, no, no. I don’t want you to go through what I did.

Finn: Luna isn’t her mother. Okay? This doesn’t make any sense.

Li: Trust I am protecting you, Finn. The life that you created here in– in Los Angeles with Steffy.

Finn: Yeah. And what a fantastic life it is. If my cousin has the opportunity to be a part of it, why would we not–

Li: Because, it’s– there’s something off about this. I mean, what? Suddenly she’s working at Forrester Creations? And I’m supposed to think it’s a coincidence? My sister’s played me for a fool once, but never again.

Luna: Look, Mom, I know it made you nervous when I started interning here, but I–

Poppy: Rightfully so, turns out. My sister’s been texting me, demanding you quit. She thinks this is her turf. Her son is married to a Forrester. She doesn’t want us to mess things up for her or Finn.

Luna: No, I’m having the best time. And me being at Forrester isn’t hurting anyone. Especially not Aunt Li. Please, Mom, I– I know that you’re just trying to look out for me, but you don’t have to worry. Everything’s gonna be fine.

Poppy: We’re talking about your Aunt Li here. Everything may not be fine at all.

Ridge: You do realize you’re not the only person who misses Steffy when she’s not here, right?

Liam: I know. I mean, you–

Ridge: I’m not talking about me.

Liam: Okay. All right. I hear you. And… yeah, there’s a part of me, a small part of me, that feels for Finn ’cause he didn’t, you know, he didn’t choose any of this. He didn’t pick Sheila to bring him into this world, but you know what? Tough, because she did. And that’s the situation we’re dealing with right now. And it just so happens that she’s obsessed with having this relationship with her son. And guess who she perceives as standing in the way of that? Your daughter. Right?

Ridge: So what’s the answer? What do we do?

Liam: I– I know the answer. It’s just… you’re not gonna like it. We have to convince Steffy to leave Finn.

Taylor: So you and the kids were away for a while and that gave Finn a lot of time to think. So, you know, how are– how are you two doing?

Steffy: Without getting into too much detail, it was a very… romantic homecoming.

Taylor: Okay.

Steffy: There’s no doubt Finn’s commitment to our marriage. None.

Taylor: Good. Good. I’m glad to hear that. You know, I think the world of him, right?

Steffy: Yeah.

Taylor: Despite his birth mother. I do have– I have– I have another question.

Steffy: Okay.

Taylor: Okay. So you know that Sheila may never pay for her crimes, which means, you know, she’s always gonna have this obsession for Finn and wanting him in her life. So… I don’t know, how do you feel about everything now, knowing that being with Finn means having the threat of Sheila looming over you and the kids?

Liam: Okay. He– here’s an undeniable fact. As long as Steffy’s with Finn, she’s in danger. And so are the kids.

Ridge: Okay. Well, I think maybe that’s why Steffy went over to see Sheila and tell her what she wants.

Liam: Yeah, but Sheila’s not gonna listen, right? Sheila’s not gonna just do what Steffy asks. She’s gonna continue worming her way into Finn’s life. And the more Steffy resists that, the more Steffy becomes the enemy. And the more she becomes the enemy, the more her life becomes at risk. Right? There’s– there’s one way out, Ridge. There’s one way out for Steffy. And that’s to leave Finn for good.

Ridge: Let me ask you a question. Do you think that you or anybody could tell Steffy what to do, who to love, what to do with her family?

Liam: No. No. But you come the closest and you have every right to an opinion on this.

Ridge: It’s always been my opinion that Steffy’s gonna make her own decision.

Liam: Yes, she will. And I really hope she makes the decision to leave Finn. I really hope she makes the decision… that it doesn’t have to be this way. And frankly, I hope she makes the decision to come back to me, while she’s at it.

Steffy: I understand the threat of Sheila better than anyone. I can still see it. Barrel of the gun pointing down at me. Sound of it firing. Look, I don’t– I don’t forgive her. And I’ll never forget what that monster put me through. But I can’t just live in fear. I can’t give her that power. So… to answer your question, if I stay with Finn, I– I have to know that Sheila is out there always lurking in the shadows, but she’ll never be allowed back in. Okay? So that I can– I can definitely live with.

Taylor: You know, I was– I was so angry with Finn when it looked like he was welcoming Sheila back into his life. I was– it scared me, Steffy. For– for you– for the kids. Look, I– I– I know that you know what you could be up against with all of that. But honey, you know… I believe in the love that you and Finn have for each other. I really do. And he– he’s proven that he’s devoted to you and only you. God, why does Sheila have to be his birth mother?

Poppy: You know I’m proud of you, right? Despite my concerns.

Luna: Yeah, I know. It’s obvious how much you care. I don’t know. I’m just following my dreams, Mom.

Poppy: Honey, I don’t wanna take away your dreams. But the way your Aunt Li is–

Luna: No, no. I am not cowering to Aunt Li again. Okay? I’m staying here. And stop letting your big sister boss you around. You just have to, like, stand up for yourself.

[ Poppy chuckles ]

Poppy: You make it sound so easy.

Luna: No, it can be. Okay. I have to get these down to the cutting room floor, but how long are you planning on being in town?

Poppy: I’m not sure yet. But I’ll definitely see you again soon. Okay? Now go, do your thing. I don’t want you to get in trouble for fraternizing with the unfashionable.

Luna: Oh, right. Okay. Mom, you’re literally the queen of style. Thank you for coming.

Poppy: I love you, baby. I just want my beautiful daughter to be happy.

Luna: Bye, Mom.

[ Phone chimes ]

Li: What are you doing here, Penelope?

[ Birds chirping ]

[ Knock on the door ]

Steffy: Who is it?

Liam: Hey, it’s me.

[ Steffy sighs ]

Liam: Well, shucks. Totally knew it. Seeing you was the best part of my day.

Li: What are you doing here, Penelope?

Poppy: For the zillionth time, please stop calling me that. I– why is it so hard for you–

Li: You’re Penelope. The name our mother and father gave you. Not “Poppy.” I asked you a question. What are you doing here at Forrester Creations?

Poppy: I came to see Luna. I am so proud of her, li, and all she’s accomp–

Li: You know how I feel about her working here. My son’s wife is Co-CEO of the company. Last thing I need is you and your daughter messing things up for Finn.

Poppy: I am just here visiting, so what could I possibly do? And Luna would never mess anything up for Finn. She’s doing a great job. She got this internship all on her own. Through her hard work and dedication. Everything that you used to nag at me about. You should be proud of your niece.

Li: Proud? That Luna somehow winded up here in the same fashion house owned and operated by my daughter-in-law’s family?

Poppy: A happy coincidence.

Li: I tried to be good to you. I got you the job at the hospital gift shop. How did you repay me?

Poppy: Li, you know that had nothing to do–

Li: I suffered because of it. Your tacky affair with the chief surgeon, a married man. I paid for it!

Poppy: How many different ways do I have to apologize before–

Li: You and your daughter will not interfere my life any longer. More importantly, Finn’s life. I want Luna out of here today. Do you hear me, Penelope? Today!

Liam: May I?

Steffy: Of course. Come in.

Liam: I, uh, I got Kelly, uh, packed up pretty quickly this morning, I didn’t realize until after I dropped her off that she left this behind.

Steffy: Oh, yes. Her new favorite.

Liam: Yeah. So she tells me. Didn’t want her to endure the anguish of sleeping without it tonight.

Steffy: Well, I’m glad she spent the night with you. She missed you like crazy. And I– I know that you called every day to check in, but–

Liam: Yeah, no. But seeing her in person is just better. It’s way better. Uh, listen, she’s not the only one I wanted to check up on. I was concerned about you too. Still am.

Steffy: No need to be.

Liam: Well… Sheila’s on the loose with Deacon, pretending to be a normal, well-adjusted human being when we both know she’s not. She’s a psychopath and an obsessive. And the current object of her obsession happens to be her son. And guess who she thinks is coming between them?

Steffy: Liam, I appreciate your concern. But you don’t have to worry. In fact, I, uh… I paid Sheila a visit. Put her in her place.

Liam: Yeah, no. I– yeah, I heard.

Steffy: You did?

Liam: Your dad told me. Steffy… you’re the most badass chick I know. But it– I wouldn’t go anywhere near Sheila. Much less confront her. I mean, all– this is all– none of this is– is right. I mean, especially not you and the kids living with Finn. I mean, I get that he’s your husband, but he also happens to be a magnet for the most– the most evil, vile person that we know. And… you’re not safe with him. You’re never gonna be. You left him once, you know. You could do it again. We were pretty good together. We had fun. I could… keep you safe, healthy, happy. Just think about… coming back to safety, to sanity, to me.
