Steffy: What do you mean sheila saved kelly’s life? What was she doing anywhere near her?

Finn: I was– I was distracted. I was on a phone call with my nurse about my patient and that’s when– that’s when kelly–

Steffy: Was pulled out into the ocean? She almost drowned?

Finn: Yeah. That’s when I made the biggest mistake of my life and I took my eyes off her. She was screaming my name and then–

Steffy: Oh, my god.

Finn: Then that’s when sheila ran into the water and thank god for my mom because sheila saved kelly’s life.

Wyatt: I can’t believe that you showed steffy a video of finn hugging his psychopathic birth mother and she didn’t even blink an eye?

Liam: No, she blinked. There– there was blinking.

Wyatt: So, you’re–

Liam: I’m saying instinctively, she’s gonna wanna defend her husband, right? So, now I– I– I don’t know what to do.

Wyatt: Well, there’s gotta be a way to convince her that– that finn can’t be trusted. I mean, he clearly has a connection to that lunatic.

Liam: I know, but steffy wants to trust him. She wants to give him the benefit of the doubt. Now…

[ Liam chuckling ] Finn is gonna find out I’m not so generous.

Sheila: Oh.

Deacon: Here. You okay? It’s hot.

Sheila: Thank you. Ooh. Yeah, I think I’m just a little bit in shock.

Deacon: Well, you did something pretty amazing today. You saved steffy’s daughter.

Sheila: It all happened so fast and I… I didn’t even think. I just knew I had to act.

Deacon: Thank god you did because it doesn’t always end this way when it comes to kids and water. This could’ve been a very different story if you hadn’t been there.

Sheila: You know, finn, he… he only looked away for a minute. He was horrified when– when he saw what happened.

Deacon: Horrified, but grateful to you, his mother, for being there.

[ Sheila chuckling ]

Sheila: He has to know, right? I mean, he really has to know how much I love him and that I would do anything for him and his family.

Deacon: You know who you are? You are a hero. Truly. There’s no other word to describe it.

[ Sheila chuckling ]

Sheila: I did what anybody would’ve done.

Deacon: I don’t know about that. It was pretty selfless. I mean, you could’ve been pulled out of that undertow too. You may have just pulled off a miracle. Come up with a way to prove to finn that you deserve to be in his life.

Sheila: That’s– that’s not what I was trying to do. All I was thinking about was kelly and her safety and that precious, little girl, she’s a part of finn’s family, which means she’s part of my family too. I– I treasure them. Steffy and hayes too. They mean everything in the world to me. I’ve been given a second chance at freedom. I– I can– I can do this. I know I can be a– a good force in– in finn’s life. I can make that happen.

Wyatt: Sheila’s not gonna give up. I’m telling you, bro. She’s– she’s gonna keep coming and coming after steffy and finn and those kids and– and everyone knows about her twisted, insatiable need to be loved.

Liam: Yeah, and right now, she wants that love from finn.

Wyatt: Yeah. I mean, you– you gotta do something about this. I’m serious.

Liam: I intend to do something– okay, first of all, steffy can’t turn a blind eye forever, right? Secondly, what finn did was messed up and not normal and I’m not just gonna let it go because steffy asked me too. I mean, this could put all of them in danger, including my daughter.

Steffy: My baby could’ve drowned. Oh, my– oh, my god. I think I might be sick.

Finn: I know. It makes me sick too. And look, I just– I turned my back for a second.

Steffy: You never, ever turn your back on a child at the water! You know that!

Finn: I know that, I know that, and it was– it was stupid and– and– and it was careless, right? But you need to believe me, honey. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if anything happened to her, but nothing did happen to her, steffy. Look, she’s safe, okay? She’s all right and she’s in her room.

Steffy: Because of sheila.

Finn: Yes. And look, I know how you feel about my mother, rightfully so, but look, she saved kelly today. How can I not be anything but grateful for that? So maybe, you should just cut her some slack. Martial arts is my passion.

Deacon: I could– I could only imagine how finn felt seeing kelly out there in the water helpless.

Sheila: If anything had happened to her, he never would have forgiven himself.

Deacon: You were there.

Sheila: Yeah. He called me “mom.”

Deacon: What?

Sheila: Yeah, when he– when he thanked me for saving kelly’s life, he called me mom. Yeah, after everything, I just… I never thought that my heart could– could ever feel this full.

Deacon: I remember– I remember the moment that I finally felt that hope acknowledged and accepted me. It’s incredible, isn’t it?

Sheila: That love. I mean, kelly even asked him if I was his really his mother and finn told her yes, that I was his mother. That’s a moment that I am never gonna forget. I, suddenly– the past, all the terrible mistakes I made, they just didn’t matter. I was– I was just a mom. That’s it. I wasn’t a monster and I wasn’t feared. I was just a mother and that’s all I’ve ever wanted to be.

Liam: I understand steffy’s desire to defend her husband. She doesn’t wanna think that finn is vulnerable to somebody as– as sick and twisted and dangerous as sheila, but even when I showed her the video of them hugging, she still kinda, like, made excuses for him.

Wyatt: Okay, well then, you gotta keep trying, man. The stakes are way too high right now.

Liam: We agree. I’m gonna– I’m gonna keep trying. I can’t trust finn right now just as a stepfather. Like, I don’t care if he’s married to steffy.

Wyatt: Right. And– and that– that has nothing to do with this, right? 100%?

Liam: The– what?

Wyatt: The fact that finn and steffy are married and that you might be having feelings for her again.

Liam: I’m not trying to undermine steffy’s marriage. Yes, of course, I– I care about her. I’m always gonna look out for her, want her to be safe, but this is about my daughter living under that roof, right? And if finn is putting her at risk, I’m not backing down.

Steffy: You want me to cut sheila some slack?

Finn: I know you’re horrified about what could’ve happened and I am too. It’s terrifying thinking about kelly–

Steffy: Kelly drowning all alone?

Finn: Look, I’m never gonna be able to get those screams out of my mind and I am sorry. Steffy, I am so sorry.

Steffy: I know you are.

Finn: I am. I’m sorry, but we just– we need to keep reminding ourselves that kelly, she is all right and the fact that sheila was there was a miracle. I mean, she’s– she’s a hero.

Steffy: A hero?

Finn: I mean, yeah, if we’re being realistic.

Steffy: Realistic? Because of sheila, kelly almost lost her mother. Hayes almost lost both of his parents. Sheila, your hero, was willing to let us die after shooting us. Have you forgotten?

Finn: No, I haven’t– I– all I care about at this point is that kelly is here. She’s with us. We can still hold her. We can read her a bedtime story tonight. What could have happened, didn’T. Sheila prevented it. Okay, today, sheila saved a life. Hey, it’s me…your skin.

Wyatt: Okay, I’m just pointing out here. You even said yourself, right? You’ve never had an issue with finn before this.

Liam: Yeah, no, right. Which is why it’s ridiculous to think I have some ulterior motive showing steffy the video. I’m protecting my daughter.

Wyatt: Okay. And you don’t think finn would deliberately do anything to hurt kelly?

Liam: No. No. No, no, no. Of course not. But he is susceptible to sheila, who we all know is a master manipulator, so like, what if, right? What if he lets his guard down? What if he lets her in more? I’m just saying, I’m not gonna ignore what I saw. I love kelly and steffy too much to let any harm come to them by sheila.

Deacon: Well, it’s obvious how much what happened– that it means to you.

Sheila: Yeah. I suddenly feel like I can start over. That it’s not just a possibility, but a reality. It can happen.

Deacon: Okay, okay, slow down, all right? Look, I get what a big impact this has had on you.

Sheila: And on finn too.

Deacon: And finn. I got it, okay? I just don’t want you to get your hopes up. Sheila, steffy might not see it that way.

Sheila: Oh, well, she should. You know, I– I saved her daughter’s life. If it weren’t for me, kelly would’ve drowned. She’d be gone. She’s– she’s gotta be thankful for that, right? She’s gotta be thankful to me.

Steffy: Are you hearing yourself?

Finn: I know. Look, steffy. Like it or not, my mom saved kelly today–

Steffy: Oh, stop calling her your mother. My gosh. I can’t believe you’re saying these things and what was sheila doing at the beach anyway?

Finn: I don’t– I don’t know. She was just there, but thank god she was.

Steffy: Oh, so she was stalking my daughter and you?

Finn: She wasn’t stalking anyone.

[ Steffy scoffing ] Look, kelly, she’s gonna be able to grow up and have a life because of sheila.

Steffy: Oh, my god. Are you tired of clean clothes that just don’t smell clean?

Deacon: You expect steffy to thank you?

Sheila: You think that’s too much to ask for?

Deacon: Um, yeah, maybe, if you look at it from her perspective. I mean, you were lurking on the beach.

Sheila: I wasn’t lurking.

Deacon: Okay, you were “watching” from a distance. You know, I mean– never supposed to go near any of them, none of them, yet, there you are.

Sheila: And it’s a good thing that I did or kelly would be gone.

Deacon: Okay, agreed. That’s true. You– you did something wonderful, you should be proud of yourself. You did something selfless, right? Maybe you should keep doing that?

Sheila: What are you talking about?

Deacon: Being selfless. Just stay away from steffy, hayes, kelly and finn.

Sheila: What are you saying? Are you saying that I should just walk away? You’re out of your mind.

Wyatt: Did you just hear yourself there? “I love kelly and steffy.”

Liam: Oh, no. No, no. You know what I meant.

Wyatt: I know what you meant and I also know that you kissed steffy twice and then you told me about it. I also know that you have information that could potentially jeopardize her relationship with finn, okay? Look, I’m not telling you you shouldn’t have told steffy about finn hugging that psycho. That’s information you shouldn’t keep from her, but I am asking you this. You need to be honest with yourself right now, okay? How much of this is you wanting to protect steffy and kelly and how much of it is actually you wanting to get back with steffy?

Steffy: Finn, whatever happened at the beach today is still sheila. She has terrorized my family for years. She hurts people.

Finn: I know, but not today, steffy. Today, she saved your daughter. Look, she saved me. I mean, I– I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I let kelly drown. She saved me today as much as much as she saved kelly.

Steffy: Do you remember when she tried to take your life? How long do you think she watched you in the alley? Did she call for help? No. No, finn. She didn’T. She just walked away. That’s not someone you just call a hero or cut someone some slack.

Finn: Well, you weren’t there. You didn’t hear kelly screaming out my name and thank god that my mother did because she rescued kelly from the water. Steffy, I took her, still breathing, still alive, out of my mother’s arms. She gave her back to me, back to us. She gave— she gave me a second chance to do better because of my mistake, my stupid mistake of taking my eyes off of kelly and putting her in danger. It didn’t cost kelly her life and it didn’t cost me my mine because I don’t know how I would be able face myself. How would I even be able to go on knowing that happened on my watch? But kelly is okay. She’s alive and that is all that matters and she’s alive because–

Steffy: Because of sheila.

Finn: Yeah. Yeah.

Steffy: Did you thank her?

Finn: Did I thank her? Yeah, of course I thanked her. How could I not?

Steffy: Did you… embrace her?

Finn: At the beach? What? No. I– I–

Steffy: What about somewhere else?

Finn: What are you talking about?

Steffy: I found something else out today. Something I… I didn’t want to believe. After the hearing in the judge’s chamber, when we heard that bill’s plan backfired and sheila was released to terrorize our family again, you disappeared.

Finn: Why are– why are you bringing this up?

Steffy: I wondered where you went. You said you had to take care of a patient. You just left out the fact that that patient was sheila. You saw her after she was released. She was emotional, euphoric. Do you feel the same? She embraced you. And you embraced her back, didn’t you?

Finn: Yeah. Yeah, I did. I– I embraced her. I embraced sheila.

Steffy: We almost lost kelly today! We almost lost her! Everything, after everything sheila has done to our family, how she’s terrorized us, you want me, you want me to be grateful to her? God, we agreed, we agreed to keep that lunatic out of our lives for good and yet, you just admitted, you just admitted it. Oh, my god. You wrapped your arms around sheila. You hugged her! Your mother! How could you– how could you do this? How am I supposed to ever trust you again?

Finn: You saved her. Mom, you saved kelly’s life. Thank you. Mom, thank you so much.

Steffy: Finn’s not getting back to me. Straight to voicemail again. Yeah, the service can be a little spotty down at the beach.

Liam: Yeah.

Steffy: I know you wanted to spend the day with kelly, and she was excited to have her daddy daughter date, too.

Liam: Well, yeah, I mean, I figured I– I could maybe steal her away for a little bit. Just with everything going on, I feel like that’s more important than ever, you know. Maybe we go to venice, maybe we’d ride some bikes, check out the street art, visit that, uh, the ice cream shop. You know, the one on abbot kinney.

Steffy: Yeah, yeah. You know our girl.

Liam: Yeah.

Steffy: I– I am sorry that this is taking longer than I expected. Finn knows that you guys have plans.

Liam: I mean, it’s fine. It’s just– well, normally it would be fine, but–

[ Liam sighing ] Listen, I’ve always trusted finn to watch kelly. Like, you know that. Like, I’ve never had a problem with him taking her, but– but now, I don’t know, it feels a little different. Like, having seen him get all cozy with sheila, I just– now, I don’t feel like I can trust his judgment and if I can’t trust his judgment, how can I trust him to protect kelly from sheila? It’s like a whole thing.

Deacon: Okay. [ Sighing ]

Sheila: I’m going to see my son because somehow, some way, I’m going to convince him that– that I can be a positive force in his life. And his family’S.

Deacon: It’s going to take a miracle to make that happen.

[ Deacon sighing ]

Steffy: I still can’t believe sheila has been released.

Liam: I know. Tell me about it. Honestly, I’m still– I’m still just processing that. Like, I really thought that uld be put away for life, and now it’s like, oh, yeah, everything that my dad worked so hard for months to accomplish just backfired.

Steffy: Yeah, I’m surprised the court didn’t warn us that this was even an option.

Liam: I know.

Steffy: Sheila shot me. She shot her own son. It’s crazy that they’re just letting her loose.

Liam: Yeah, and now we’re right back to, you know, security guards at the house, security guards at work, cameras everywhere.

Steffy: I can’t– I really– I really can’t do it. I– I can’t talk about sheila anymore. We all know how dangerous she is. I just can’t think of her just taking over my entire life.

Liam: No, I– I understand, and– and– and I agree. We can’t do that, right? We can’t let, like, our whole existence become about sheila. It’s just– I just wish– I just wish I knew that– that–

Steffy: Kelly is safe. I know. I know.

Liam: Yeah, because– ’cause sheila’s not rational. Right? She’s not logical. She’s like, we have to treat her like a wild animal. And– and she’s proven over and over again how dangerous she is. And now what, she just– she just walks the streets, like, as she pleases?

Steffy: Liam, I promise you, nothing is going to happen to kelly, okay? I love my children and I will do whatever it takes to keep them safe.

Liam: I know you will. You’re an incredible mother. I trust you implicitly. That is not the issue. My issue right now is this– this thing going on with finn, whatever it is.

Steffy: Finn is a loving, attentive father. He loves kelly as if she were his own.

Liam: I–

Steffy: He wants to protect her as much as I do.

Liam: I know, I’m saying that is what I did believe. And now, after seeing him embrace sheila, I mean, he’s clear– he clearly has some feelings about his mom that he’s not dealing with and I worry that it could impact his judgment right now. I don’t know what’s going on with him. Maybe it’s just biological. Maybe there’s something inside of him that he can’t– it doesn’t ma– whatever the explanation is, I, as kelly’s dad, can’t in good conscience put my trust in him. Right? What’s my number one job? It’s to take care of kelly and her mother. I love kelly. I also love you. That’s not going to change, steffy.

Sheila: You don’t need to thank me. I’m just glad that I was here. But kelly is A… just precious little girl.

Finn: Yeah, she is. And I am… I am incredibly grateful, more than you will ever know. But you need to keep your distance. And I can’t see you.

Sheila: I’m just glad you’re okay. But next time you’re next to the water, you be very careful, sweetheart.

Kelly: Thank you again. Four delicious pieces of chocolate.

[ Phone buzzing ]

Steffy: You need to take that?

Liam: It’s the office. Honestly, I’m not going– I’m not going to worry about it. If it’s that important, wyatt’ll take care of it.

Steffy: Hey.

Liam: Yeah?

Steffy: Kelly’s fine. I know you’re concerned about finn being vulnerable to sheila, but you–

Liam: Well, there– well, there isn’t really a but here. I mean, sheila is a murderous psychopath. She’s a murderous psychopath who happens to be obsessed with my daughter’s stepfather. And you– you know firsthand what she’s capable of.

Steffy: Yeah, I– I do. And I don’t– I don’t want to think about it. She almost took finn away from me and my family. She cost– she cost me years apart from my mother. I’m done thinking about it.

Liam: Okay, well, then you– but then you understand why I’m so concerned.

Steffy: Okay, but we are talking about my husband. And yes, I– I did see finn embracing sheila in that video, but I do have to believe in him. I have to believe that there is some kind of explanation, because he has only been loyal and loving to me. I hate the thought of it. I hate– I hated watching that, but that doesn’t mean he’s not going to protect us.

Liam: You know what I keep thinking about lately? Is the day kelly was born… I mean, oh… there was so much leading up to it, you know? So much preparation and classes and– and planning and thinking and dreaming. And then– and then, it’s like the minute she arrived, nothing prepared us for that. I mean, it’s like the minute I actually held her in my arms, I knew that my life would never be the same again. I just– I don’t think I blinked for the rest of the day, I just stared, just kept staring in awe, knowing that nothing else mattered. Knowing that I just had to do everything I could to make sure she was happy and… safe. And not just her. Her and her mother. That’s part of it. You’re part of it. My job is to protect you, too. That doesn’t change. I know what I saw, steffy. And my gut– I’m sorry. My gut is telling me that for whatever reason, finn is– is vulnerable to sheila. And I can’t let you and kelly be the price for that.

[ Phone buzzing ]

[ Liam sighs ] What?

Steffy: It’s– it’s fine. Why don’t you just take care of whatever you have to? You’ve been waiting long enough. And I’ll text you once finn and kelly get back here, okay?

Liam: Well, can you text me just when you hear back from finn at all? Just so I– just so I know– I know that everything’s okay?

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, of course.

Liam: Okay.

Steffy: Liam, I can’t explain why finn embraced sheila, but I trust my husband and I know he will not put the children or me at risk. He knows what sheila is capable of, okay? But I really appreciate it. That you’re so concerned about us.

Liam: Always.

[ Knocking on door ]

Deacon: Working.

[ Knocking on door ]

Sheila: Come on. Deacon, open up. It’s– it’s me.

[ Deacon sighs ]

Deacon: Don’t do it. Don’t do it. Don’t be stupid. You’re gonna do it. You’re gonna do it. Great.

Sheila: Now, you lock the door?

Deacon: What– what happened to you? I thought you went to see finn.

Sheila: I did. And you won’t believe what happened. I saved kelly’s life.

Steffy: Finn, where are you?

[ Steffy sighing ] Finally. You two were gone a long time. Hi, sweetheart. Did you have fun at the beach?

Kelly: Something happened, mommy. Something really scary.

Steffy: Oh, really? What happened?

Kelly: I almost drowned.

Liam: If finn really is

vulnerable to his birth mother,

then you need to know that.

Steffy: No.

No, no, no, no,

this does not make–

it does not make any sense.

I can’t explain this video, but

there is no way finn would put

me or our family in jeopardy.

Wyatt: Hey.

Liam: Hi.

Wyatt: What are you doing here? I thought you were taking the rest of the afternoon off to be with kelly.

Liam: Uh, yeah, I was. I am. I am. Hopefully.

Wyatt: I was, I am, hopefully?

Liam: Finn took kelly to the beach and they’re still not back yet.

Wyatt: Ah. Am I sensing a bit of jealousy?

Liam: No, it’s not jealousy. You know that I have good reasons for being concerned about finn right now.

Wyatt: Oh, no, that’s totally true. I feel the same way about seeing that video of finn hugging that she-devil. So, how’d it go?

Liam: What?

Wyatt: You telling steffy about finn hugging his mom.

Liam: Ah.

Wyatt: You did tell her, right?

Liam: Um, yeah, I told her.

Wyatt: Okay, good, ’cause there’s no way that she could accept finn letting sheila anywhere near her or the kids after hearing that, right?

Deacon: So you– you ran in and you pulled kelly from the surf? How the hell did this even happen?

Sheila: That’s– I went– I went to the hospital, and I– I saw finn and kelly leaving and I followed them. They didn’t even know that I was– I was watching. And they went– they went to the beach. And they went surfing. And– and after surfing, they were playing in the sand. And finn must have got a really important phone call because he stepped away a little bit. And I kept an eye on– on kelly because she went down to the water’s edge with her bucket. Before you knew it, she got swept away. She got swept under. And I– I went– I went in after her.

Deacon: God, she– she’s okay, right?

Sheila: Yeah, she’s fine.

Deacon: I mean, sheila, if you hadn’t been there… you saved steffy’s daughter’s life.

Steffy: Oh, my god. Sweetheart, are you okay?

Finn: Kelly’s okay. I– I checked her out. She’s okay.

Kelly: I’m all right, mommy. The ocean took my bucket. I tried to get it, but got sucked in.

Steffy: Oh, my goodness. Oh, I’m so sorry. That must have been so scary. Thank god finn was with you.

Kelly: Finn’s mom saved me.

Steffy: Li was there?

Kelly: Not, li. Sheila. Postmenopausal women with hr+ her2-

Deacon: Wow, I’m– I’m stunned. I mean, I– thank god you didn’t listen to me about stalking finn because if you had, things could have ended very differently for that little girl.

Sheila: Oh, I can’t even think about that. That’s just too horrible. Wha– what’s really important is– is kelly is safe.

Deacon: I mean, I– look, I’ll admit it. I thought you were crazy– misguided for thinking that you could somehow convince finn that you deserve to be in his life, but sheila, sheila, you– you may have just pulled off the impossible today.

Wyatt: Seriously, bro. I mean, did steffy totally lose it after hearing about finn hugging his psycho bio mom?

Liam: Well, look, okay, so, you know, predictably, she wasn’t thrilled to find out that– that finn was hugging sheila outside the judge’s chambers, but she still– she didn’t react the way I did, for example.

Wyatt: What? What do you mean? Why not?

Liam: Well, you know, finn’s her husband. She wants to believe him. She wants to– she wants to think that he would never let any harm come to her or the kids. Now, obviously, I don’t share that bias, so yours truly doesn’t trust the guy now.

Steffy: Sheila? Sheila saved you?

Finn: Hey, look, I can explain.

Kelly: Can I go take a shower?

Steffy: Yes, of course you can. Oh, I’m so sorry that you had to go through that.

Kelly: It’s all right, mommy. I’m okay. I love you, too.

Steffy: I love you. What the hell happened?

Finn: Uh, kelly was fine. We were surfing, we built a sandcastle and, um… I had an important work call about a patient and I… put my earbuds in and I couldn’t hear very well. I had bad reception and I was trying to shield myself from the wind and I turned my back on her for just, like, a moment.

Steffy: You never turn your back on a child at the beach!

Finn: Look, it just– it happened so fast that– and then, I suddenly just– I heard…

Kelly: Help, finn! Help!

Finn: …I heard her crying for help and I rushed in immediately, and I– and I got her, okay? And then, that’s just– that’s– that’s when I saw her.

Steffy: Sheila.

Finn: Yeah. I mean, I was stunned, just as you are, but in that moment, it didn’t matter, okay? Kelly was safe. Yes, she got to her first, but I took her from sheila and I– I got her to the shore to make sure she was okay.

Steffy: Okay? Okay? My god, I could have lost my daughter. She could have drowned. What the hell were you thinking? You never turn your back on a child at the beach.

Finn: I know, okay? I’m sorry. I– I’m sorry.

Steffy: What the hell was sheila even doing there?

Finn: I don’t know. Okay? Honestly, I don’t know. She was just– she was there, but thank god she was… because if– because if she wasn’t, may– I mean, she saved her life. My mother saved kelly’s life.

Carter: There was very little physical evidence linking sheila to the shootings, so almost everything hinged on finn and steffy’s account of what happened. Now, without new evidence–

Brooke: That means she’s free to terrorize us once again.

Brooke: We will keep them safe. We’re not gonna let sheila lay a finger on any of them.

Liam: Well, I guess finn and kelly are having a really good time. Can I– can I just make sure we’re on the same page about something because you know I never would have had an issue with finn and kelly spending time together before I saw that embrace with sheila at the courthouse, right? Liam: Steffy, it’s me. Hey. Uh, so you didn’t respond to my text. I figured I’d come and check on you. Did you– did you get a chance to talk to finn about the hug while at the courthouse?

Steffy: No, no. Finn had to pull an all nighter at the hospital. I was solo with hayes this morning and kelly’s at a sleepover. With a guard outside.

Liam: Okay, that’s good. But you got– you got to talk to him, steffy.

Steffy: Liam, I don’t even really know what I saw in the video. I know finn wouldn’t do something.

Liam: Yes, I– I– I know, you want to give him the benefit of the doubt because you and finn, you’ve– you’re married. You’ve been through a lot together, most of which at the hands of sheila, by the way, but please, I’m begging you, I’m begging you, do not blow me off or treat me like I’m– I’m overreacting here. You’re the mother of my child. I love you and kelly. I’m going to protect you forever. And when I saw finn embracing what we know to be a monster at the courthouse, I’m sorry, but my trust for him took a nosedive. I mean, how do you show a psychopath like that compassion? I mean, she– clearly, she didn’t show any for you or finn when she left you to die in that alley, right? So for me, for me, this calls into question not only his judgment, but his loyalty, for god’s sake.

Steffy: That is– that is not fair. Finn has taken care of me and the children. We are his number one priority.

Liam: You were his number one priority before sheila came into his life. That we know. But now? I don’t know, okay? And– and I’m not going to sit back and watch you and kelly and hayes’ life be put in jeopardy by– by sheila. I’m– I’m not.

[ Steffy sighing ]

Finn: My stepdaughter’s supposed to be getting dropped off here soon from sleepover. Do– do you mind just bringing her down her directly to me?

Sheila: Well, no, I assure you. I– I mean, the stars are aligned. Everything’s going my way. Fate is smiling on me. Out of prison. A second chance to have a relationship with my son and my grandson. Everything is coming up roses for sheila.

You can’t look at that video and tell me otherwise and whatever– whatever his feelings for sheila are, they are an open invitation for her to come back into your lives. Deacon: I just don’t want you setting yourself up for disappointment.

Sheila: Well, that’s what I’m trying to tell you. I’m not.

Deacon: What am i missing here?

Sheila: Okay, when the judge dropped all of the charges and he gave me back my freedom, the bailiff took me out into the hallway and… I was just– I was flooded with emotion. I’m in shock. I was thankful. I was– I was grateful. And I saw my son. Finn came to me. And if you could see the look in his eyes, deacon, it was so pure. He didn’t look at me with hatred or fear or judgment. He just– he’s just looked at me. It’s like for the first time, it’s like he really saw me. I– I… I put my arms around him. I could feel his heartbeat. And he slowly put his arms around me too and he– he held on, he squeezed. Tighter and tighter. I finally had him in my arms. The way it always should have been. And that’s the feeling I am never going to forget. And he’s not going to forget it either.

Finn: I– I got a surfboard and your bathing suit and beach toys all in the car, so you and I can have some time before your daddy daughter day. And I was thinking, when we’re there, we could build, like, an epic sandcastle.

Kelly: Yeah.

Finn: Yeah? [ Chuckles ]

Sam: You two are really sweet together.

Finn: It’s because this one here is the sweetest of the sweet and it makes it easy to love her.

Finn: That means a lot. Sometimes, it’s nice to be reminded of what’s important. Uh, sam, um, I’m going to be at the beach, but I’m on call, okay? So, make sure you call me if anything changes with mr. Rodriguez’s condition, okay?

Liam: Steffy, you gotta believe me. I debated whether or not to come to you with this because I don’t– I don’t want to undermine your marriage or your relationship to finn, but this is also not the kind of thing you ignore, right? The stakes are too high.

Steffy: I know that you’re trying to lookout for me and kelly and hayes, and I appreciate it.

It is upsetting, especially when we agreed that sheila was not gonna come back into our lives. So, the thought of– the thought of sheila actually near him, much less with his arms wrapped around her, like, it doesn’t make sense. But he is my husband and he hasn’t given me a reason not to trust him. What he did? Yes. I– I don’t like it. I feel awful about it. I don’t understand it, but I’m not willing to throw everything I know to be true just because of one hug.

Liam: You don’t have to throw everything– what that one hug proves is that right now, you can’t just rely on finn to protect kelly and hayes.

Sheila: Well, hopefully, this is a good one.

Deacon: Tell me exactly what happened.

Sheila: The judge dropped all charges. They set me free.

Li: I still don’t understand this. I thought bill’s plan was foolproof.

Finn: Well, apparently not.

[ Li sighing ]

Li: Sheila carter? Serial criminal, free to roam the streets? Oh, how could the judge allow it? She shot you and steffy! Say you’ll testify now.

Finn: Can’T. The D.A. Dropped the charges. Unless there’s new evidence, there’s– look, I didn’t make the law. Look, mom, just please try not to worry.

Li: Of course, I’m worried. I’m sure you are too! Whatever sheila has planned, you need to protect steffy and those children of yours. Do not let sheila come back into your lives ever again.

Liam: I’m really sorry, steffy. I know this is a shocking thing to hear.

Steffy: Well, you must have misinterpreted because there’s no way finn would be in contact with sheila, let alone embrace her.

Liam: I’m sorry, steffy, but I thought you needed to know. I used to wait to run my dishwasher

Ridge: Now, you said you were desperate to hold on to your marriage, to work things out with liam. Next thing I know, you draw up divorce papers.

Hope: I realize this may seem sudden to you–

Ridge: It’s a little sudden. Let me ask you something. Does this have something to do with you sleeping with my son at all?

Brooke: Ridge!

Hope: Mom, you told him?

Brooke: Honey, I– I can’t keep secrets from him. You know that. Nobody else knows.

Hope: Uh-uh.

Ridge: It doesn’t matter. Guys, I don’t care about that. If you and liam can figure it out, that’s great. If you can’t, that’s great. That’s up to you. What I care about is my son. He’s been working really hard to get his life back together and not be obsessed with you. So, I’m asking you, despite of what happened before, how do you feel about him? How do you feel about thomas?

Deacon: So, the judge said bill’s plan didn’t hold up in court because of the way he got the confession.

Sheila: That’s right.

Deacon: Un-frickin- believable.

Sheila: I– I’ll tell ya, I was– I was fully prepared, walking into the judge’s chambers, thinking that I was gonna spend the rest of my life in prison. I can’t even put into words how scared I was. I mean, waking up every morning thinking that I was never gonna be able to touch the people that I love ever again.

Li: I can only imagine what it was like for you and steffy sitting there, looking at that woman, hearing the judge set her free.

Finn: Steffy wanted to be there to face sheila. Clearly, this was not the outcome she expected.

Li: And what about you? How are you able to hold yourself back? I would not have been able to control myself.

Finn: Yeah, um, I had a very– very strong reaction.

Liam: I don’t love having to come here and drop this bomb on you, but if finn really is vulnerable to his birth mother, then you need to know that.

Steffy: No. No, no, no. This does not make– it does not make any sense. Sheila shot me. She shot finn. She held him captive for months. Look, I can’t– I can’t explain this video, but there is no way finn would put me or my family in jeopardy.

Liam: I agree with you. I agree. It doesn’t make any sense, especially after finn saying for months and months that he’d sworn off sheila and he wants nothing to do with her and he’s gonna do everything in his power to protect you and your family from her. This is why I took the video because there is no way you would believe it otherwise. Hell, I know I wouldn’T. But steffy, at this point, you don’t know that you can trust finn to keep you and kelly and hayes safe from sheila and that’S… that’s information you deserve to have. Glad with clorox eliminates food and bacterial odors.

Hope: Well, of course I have feelings for thomas. We share a son together. We’re a great team, you know, with hope for the future and I think we are on a path that is just getting started.

Ridge: Okay. I don’t know what any of that means.

Hope: It just– it means that thomas and I share a connection and I get why you would be curious about my relationship with thomas. I mean, he’s your son. Of course, you would be concerned.

Ridge: I’m concerned about all my kids.

Hope: Steffy too?

Ridge: Yeah, steffy too.

Hope: Okay, so then he’s aware about the role that steffy kinda played with what happened with liam and me?

Ridge: What?

Brooke: Hope feels that liam is still in love with steffy.

Ridge: Okay.

Hope: We all know that steffy, liam and me, we’ve had a dynamic that has been going on for a very long time now and I just realized that I… don’t want to spend my life with a man who has divided feelings because I have seen the kind of damage that that can do. Whereas thomas has always been very clear about his feelings for me. So, I do not know what the future holds. I don’t have an answer for you. I just know that I want to work and concentrate on hope for the future and concentrate on raising my kids. I just– I don’t want to let this drag me down.

Deacon: Bill and ridge vowed to keep quiet about our relationship. Nobody knows. They’ve kept the promise.

Sheila: Yeah, but me being free doesn’t change anything. That’s why I put on this adorable little disguise. No need to draw unnecessary attention.

Deacon: I just can’t believe you fooled me again.

Sheila: Can you take a moment to– to enjoy the fact that I’m free?

Deacon: I am so happy you’re free. I hated the fact that you were rotting away in that prison cell.

Sheila: Yeah, but you know, when you came to see me, you, uh… you really helped me forget about the reality that I was living in. You helped me, you really did and I thank you for that.

Deacon: I’m just glad I could do something.

Sheila: No, I… I really felt like I– I was living in a very hopeless situation and look at me now. Look at me now! I’m here with you and a second chance. It just goes to prove that you should– you should really never give up. You just never know what gifts life is gonna give you.

Deacon: I am glad you’re free.

Sheila: I’m just really hoping that– that finn will be happy for me too.

Li: Doesn’t the judge know releasing sheila puts you, steffy and the kids in danger?

Finn: His hands were tied.

Li: I can’t believe we’re in this position again. This is just wrong! Sheila should be spending the rest of her life behind bars, right, finn?

Liam: The most important thing is keeping sheila as far away as humanly possible from you and the kids, right? And the second she’s set free, finn is cozying it up with her, so– so you just have to be realistic here and consider the possibility that finn is not capable of standing up to her to protect you and your family.

Steffy: Ugh. It makes me nauseous to see finn with his arms wrapped around sheila. Like, I can’t tell you how many times we’ve discussed sheila staying away from us. But there has to be some kind of, like, explanation. Finn just wouldn’t let his guard down. He wouldn’t endanger our family. It’s impossible.

When the murrays discovered

Deacon: I admire your positive attitude after getting sprung, but I’m just saying, I don’t see any scenario where finn just forgives you for what you did to his family.

Sheila: Come on. Who– who would’ve thought that I– I would be here. Anything is possible. I am living proof.

Deacon: I just don’t want you to set yourself up for disappointment, you know? Finn and steffy went through a lot because of you. That’s reality. Maybe it’s time you accept it.

Sheila: Deacon, I– I know this is hard for you to understand, but never underestimate the bond between a mother and her son.

Deacon: I’m not. I’m just saying, I think it would take a miracle for them to let you back into their life.

Sheila: Look at me now. I mean, anything is possible and I’m not gonna give up until finn forgives me and allows me to be a part of his life.

Li: You do agree sheila should spend the rest of her life in prison, right? Finn. I know this isn’t what you or steffy expected. Justice wasn’t served. But you have to think about steffy and the kids. The judge’s decision puts all of you at risk.

Finn: Don’t worry, all right? I will do whatever it takes to keep my family safe.

Steffy: I– I just can’t believe finn would allow himself to vulnerable to sheila after everything she’s done to us.

Liam: It’s right here, steffy. It’s on video.

Steffy: It’s a hug. That’s all.

Liam: Look, nobody wants to believe that finn has this emotional attachment to sheila, but he didn’t push her away, he didn’t scream at her, right? I mean– you know how I feel about you and kelly. I’m not– I’m not gonna sit back and put your safety at risk while finn tries to figure out his relationship with his birth mom. She’s a dangerous person.

Steffy: I know.

Liam: Okay. You know that, I know that and kelly is my daughter and it’s my job to protect her and she’s living under this roof with finn. And it’s not– it’s not– it’s not just kelly. It’s obviously– it’s hayes and you too.

Steffy: Yeah, but you’ve always been protective of us.

Liam: I know and I’m– I’m just– I’m just saying– I’m not saying there’s not some explanation. What I am saying is you cannot bury your head in the sand here.

Steffy: I’m not.

Liam: Okay, then you know exactly what you have do, right? I mean, you have to confront finn about this. You have to force him to give you an explanation for this. Now, maybe– I don’t know, maybe there’s an answer. Maybe, you know, maybe tensions were running high and he was emotional and there’s like a mother/son bond.

Steffy: What? No, no, no. He hates sheila for what she did to us.

Liam: Absolutely and he should because she has proven time and time again that she’s dangerous. Not just dangerous, but lethal and she’s manipulative and she happens to be obsessed with finn and hayes. And she’s– look, that hug, whether he knows it or not, it sent a message to sheila. He’s basically saying, “hey, guess what? I’m vulnerable to you.” And sheila is gonna take that information and she is gonna use it however she can to get close to him and hayes and kelly, and I’m not gonna just let that happen. I love kelly way too much to put her in harm’s way. And I know we’re not together, but I love you too, you know.

[ Steffy sighing ]

Liam: Dear brother, I am not out to torpedo steffy’s marriage. I am only concerned about keeping her and kelly safe from sheila.

Wyatt: And you don’t think finn feels the same way?

Liam: Did you not see the video? That is not– that is not the kind of thing I can ignore. The stakes are too high.

Wyatt: What– where are you going?

[ Chuckling ] Or do I even need to ask?

Deacon: So, you signed the papers? It’s– it’s done.

Brooke: Honey, why didn’t you wait? Liam loves you. He doesn’t really want this divorce. He’s just angry and lashing out. You still have time to fix it. Don’t give up on your marriage so easily.

Hope: Except I’m not the one who gave up on my marriage so easily, mom. That was him. This is why I avoided telling you because I knew this would be your reaction. I know you want me to fight for my marriage, mom.

Brooke: Yes, of course I do because you have a family, beth and douglas.

Hope: And liam and i are going to make sure that this is as non-disruptive for them as possible.

Deacon: I’m just so sorry that you have to go through this, sweetheart.

Hope: Me too. I mean, believe me, this was, um, not an easy decision to make.

Deacon: Well, your mother and i are here for you. You made a mistake. Mistakes don’t define you.

Brooke: Deacon’s right. I just wish a divorce wasn’t the price you have to pay for this mistake.

Hope: Well, I– I take full responsibility for what happened with thomas, but, like I said before, I also don’t want to be with someone who doesn’t fight for what we have. Who doesn’t give me the same grace that I’ve allowed him how many times before? Who still loves steffy. I mean, I’m tired of accepting that.

Brooke: I just don’t think you should give up on your marriage so easily.

Deacon: Okay, so, what are you saying here? Are you moving ahead with thomas?

Hope: I don’t know what the future holds, but I just– I just don’t want you to worry about me. I will be fine, okay? This is why I wanted you to hear this from me.

Brooke: Well, we appreciate you telling us about this and being open and honest. But honey, I am– I’m heartbroken for you. And I know your marriage matters to you. And I truly believe that liam is the love of your life.

Hope: Except, I’m not the only love of liam’s life. He also loves steffy, and I have been in competition with her for what feels like forever and I just– I don’t wanna live like that anymore.

[ Knocking on door ]

Steffy: Who is it?

Liam: Yo, it’s liam.

Steffy: Oh, my gosh.

[ Steffy sighing ]

Liam: Hey.

Steffy: Hi. Come in.

Liam: I, uh– I just– I don’t know. I came to check on you. A lot happened today, so, just seeing how you’re doing. What’s wrong?

[ Steffy sighing ]

Steffy: It’s just so stressful. I don’t think I’m ever gonna be able to let my guard down now that sheila’s out of prison.

Liam: Yeah, that’s, uh–

[ Clears throat ] That’s kind of why I– I came to talk to you. It’s about sheila. And your husband.

[Bones cracking]

Hope: I get that you’re both concerned.

Deacon: We are, but we support you. We love you, sweetheart.

[ Phone chiming ]

Hope: I appreciate that, I do, and I love you both.

Deacon: Uh, looks like I got a package delivered upstairs. I’m gonna have to go.

Hope: Okay, well, thank you for listening to me and always being on my side.

Deacon: Always. See you, brooke. Bye.

Brooke: I support you too, sweetie.

Hope: I know.

Brooke: I just love you so much. And you and I both know that it was more than just a kiss that you shared with thomas. Is that the reason why you had these divorce papers drawn up?

Hope: Mom, I just know that I deserve to be with someone whose feelings aren’t divided.

Brooke: Ah, I never wanted this for you.

Hope: Yeah.

Brooke: I mean, I can’t believe that your marriage is coming to an end.

Hope: I can’t believe it either.

Deacon: Come on, hollis, where the hell did you put this thing?

[ Door clicks closed ]

Deacon: What the hell?

Sheila: I’m back, daddy.

[ Both laughing ]

Steffy: Sheila? What about her?

Liam: And finn. Um, listen, it– I– I’m still tripping out over the fact that– that my dad’s plan just didn’t work and– and sheila’s out of prison, but right now, the focus is knowing that– that you and kelly and hayes and everyone is– is safe.

Steffy: I– I appreciate your concern, and we are taking every precaution, but you don’t have to worry about me.

Liam: Well, I’m liam, I worry. Worrying is my thing. So, tough.

Steffy: I can take care of myself. Hey, I promise you, nothing’s gonna happen to the children, okay? And I have finn. He’ll protect them.

Liam: Well, he might– you might– maybe not, okay? Maybe not.

Steffy: Liam, if this has something to do with my husband–

Liam: It does, it doe– it does have to do with that, and I’m really sorry, okay? Just– when the judge dropped the charges that– it– it was like just pure chaos in that room, right? So, I don’t know if you– if you clocked this or not?

Steffy: Clocked what?

Liam: But finn leaving the room. You– you remember that? Do you– he just– he left.

Steffy: He was checking in on a patient.

Liam: Yeah, you didn’t find that strange? Like– like, that couldn’t wait? Especially in that moment?

Steffy: What are you saying?

Liam: I was– well, I followed him out there.

Steffy: Why would you follow him?

Liam: Because it was weird, steffy. It was totally weird. Like, how– the timing of it, how he was acting, his body language, the way he was looking at sheila. Like, the whole vibe was off, and sheila had just been– she had been let out of the room ahead of him. And so, when I– when I followed them out there, what I saw blew my mind. And I debated coming to you with this, but at the end of the day, it’s all about safety, right?

Steffy: Can you just tell me what the hell you’re talking about? What did you see?

Liam: Just know this is gonna shock you.

Steffy: Tell me.

Liam: All right, but please, understand that I’m not saying any of this to like, mess with your marriage or cause problems or anything, okay? But when I– when I walked out of the room, and I saw them… sheila was in finn’s arms.

Steffy: What? N– no. No, no, that– that can’t be.

Liam: Well, it is. It’s– sheila and finn were– they were hugging, steffy.

Wyatt: I can’t believe this. Finn actually hugged sheila once her charges were dismissed. Why?

Liam: I mean, I don’t– I don’t care that– that sheila is finn’s birth mom. She shot steffy. She shot him, for god’s sake.

Wyatt: She’s insane. All right? I mean, what the hell is that guy thinking?

Liam: I don’t know, but I’m gonna find out.

Steffy: This is a nightmare. Sheila’s supposed to be in prison. How could the judge just let her go?

Finn: He said the confession wasn’t submissible because of bill’s plan.

Steffy: Oh, my god. Sheila is dangerous! She should be behind bars. You know that. Finn, tell me you know that.

Brooke: Hope!

What are you doing? Thomas is not gonna make you happy.

Hope: Were you happy… all those years that I had to scrape you up off the floor, heartbroken? Were you happy?

Brooke: Of course not, sweetheart.

Hope: I want to be with a man who wants me… and only me.

I can only ask that you keep

while I try to figure out

Ridge: Logan.

[ Brooke sighing ] I know you’re upset. Trust me, so am I.

[ Phone chiming ]

Hope: You will be free to live your life and I will be free to live mine.

Ridge: I know you’re concerned about sheila being released from prison. I am too. But you know what we’ll do? We’ll take every precaution. She won’t get to us.

Brooke: Well, you know sheila, I mean, she always gets what she wants, right? I– I just don’t understand how the judge could set her free.

Ridge: You don’t understand? We had a confession on tape! But apparently, we didn’t get it legally, so it just got thrown out. Carter said we can’t fight it, so we won’t fight it. So, we just take care of our family. It’s all we can do.

Brooke: I am worried about the children and the grandchildren, but I’m especially worried about hope.

Hope: When I’m with you,

Thomas: Hope?

Hope: Hi.

[ Hope chuckling ] Uh, something tells me you were thinking about the same thing I’ve been thinking about. The two of us, what happened.

Finn: I am just as shocked as you are that sheila was released.

Steffy: Finally. Finally, sheila was gonna pay for everything she’s done. We were certain that she was never gonna hurt us again. All I wanted to do was just come home and hold our babies, just wrap my arms around them and know, know that they are safe.

Brooke: I am very worried about hope.

Ridge: Okay. But why? This about the kiss that she planted on thomas in rome?

Brooke: In a way.

Ridge: In a way what? What are you talking about?

[ Brooke sighing ]

Brooke: I struggled whether I should tell you or not, ridge, because I am breaking a confidence. But I don’t want to keep secrets from you.

Ridge: Okay. So, then let me guess. Is this about hope’s marriage to liam? Because they’re grown people, they’re not kids anymore. It was one kiss. That’s all.

Brooke: Unfortunately, it was a lot more than just one kiss.

Hope: Yeah, I might have been thinking about us.

Thomas: Yeah?

Hope: Yeah. But I’m also thinking about sheila, you know, being released from prison yet again. I mean, I just– I can’t even.

Thomas: I know. It’s ridiculous and everyone seems to be in full damage control.

Hope: Yeah, well, my mom has added extra security to the house, but you know sheila. If she sets her sights on something…

Thomas: I’m gonna keep you safe.

Hope: What?

Thomas: I– I would never let anything happen to you or to douglas or to beth.

Hope: You– you mean that, don’t you?

Thomas: Of course.

Hope: Wow, that’s just, um, I don’t know. That’s just nice to hear. Guess I’ve never really truly felt protected or secure. I mean, liam made that promise, I mean, I don’t think he would– could really mean it.

Thomas: No?

Hope: No, you know, because of his feelings for your sister, which actually there is something you should know. Liam and I signed divorce papers.

Steffy: Thank you for expediting this and for the added security here and at forrester. I really appreciate it. Oh, my gosh. I can’t believe this is our life again. I’m sure sheila can’t wait to make contact with you or, god forbid, hayes. No, we– we– I– I can’t believe this isn’t behind us. I can’t believe that we have to actually worry about sheila again. And now it’s– it’s worse than ever because she is out, scot-free. And we don’t have any recourse.

Finn: Look, hey, we got the restraining order, right? I mean, we have more security than fort knox.

Steffy: It’s not enough, finn. Come on. Look, I– I know she is your birth mother, but sheila must be far away from our home and our children. We can’t have any contact with her.

Liam: There is no reason for finn to be hugging sheila like that. I mean clearly, sheila has some pull on finn, whether he wants to admit it or not. The question is how strong of a pull is this?

Wyatt: Well, I mean, she is his birth mom, right? We– we talked about this. None of this could possibly be easy for the guy. But I’m– I’m just– I’m just gonna put this out there, all right? You’ve… you’ve been through a lot lately, right? Hope kissing thomas in rome and– and–

Liam: Yeah, wait, what does this have to do with finn and sheila?

Wyatt: I’m just saying you’ve been going through a difficult time, okay? The betrayal of your wife mixed with, you know, your– your history with your ex and–

Liam: Where are you going with this?

Wyatt: Okay, the video looks bad, right? But maybe, just maybe here… could you possibly be overreacting a little? About finn hugging sheila because of your feelings for steffy?

[Bones cracking]

Brooke: There’s something I haven’t told you yet, and I’m sorry I haven’t done that, but I– I did just recently find out myself.

Ridge: Find out what?

Brooke: You know how hope and thomas have been working closely together. And, uh, even before they went to rome, I suspected that she was developing some kind of feelings for him. And it turns out that I was right.

Ridge: We know that they kissed in rome and that’s it.

Brooke: Apparently, they took their relationship to the next level. I found them in bed together, ridge.

Thomas: So, you had the papers drawn up and not liam.

Hope: Yes. Look, I don’t really want to get into the details about it. I just– I’m trying to not dwell on it and move forward and–

Thomas: I– I understand, I mean, what you’ve been going through is heartbreaking. You and liam were together for a long time.

Hope: Yeah, I just– I hate that beth is going to have to grow up now in a household with her parents separated. I mean, I went through that and I never wanted that for her.

Thomas: You know, hope, uh, divorce papers are not… you can still put your family back together. And no one really knows what happened between you and me except for you and me and well, brooke, but still, yeah. You could work things out with liam.

Hope: Thank you for saying that, thomas. It– it does mean a lot, but frankly, liam didn’t want to work things out. He made his feelings very clear. He could not forgive what happened in rome. He couldn’t forgive that and– and he didn’t try to fight for our marriage. Those words, “I want a divorce,” just came out of his mouth so quickly and so easily and I just– I had to stop and ask myself why? Why it was so easy for him to walk away?

Thomas: I mean, I– I– I don’t understand it. I don’t understand how liam could walk away from you so easily.

Hope: Well, that’s because he was done with our life together and because he wants what he had before. He wants his life with steffy.

Finn: Hey, I, um, I need to get to the hospital. You gonna be okay?

Steffy: Yeah, yeah, I just had to finalize a few things before a conference call.

Finn: Okay. Look, hey, I love you, right? There is nothing more important to me than our family. We’re gonna– we’re gonna get through this.

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, as long as sheila stays away from you, our children, and me, we’ll be just fine.

Liam: Are you kidding me right now? You’re– you’re gonna– you’re gonna look at this video and you’re gonna tell me I’m overreacting. Did we not– did we not just–

Wyatt: I said it looks bad. It looks bad.

Liam: Okay, it looks bad.

Wyatt: I’m just saying, are you maybe reading into this situation because of your feelings for steffy? And– and therefore, anything that finn does is– is bad.

Liam: Dude, this is not “anything” finn does. It– it’s the hugging a murderous psychopath part I got a problem with. Listen, maybe– maybe finn is having some confusing feelings right now. I don’t care. Here’s what’s not confusing, sheila tried to kill steffy. Kelly almost lost her mother. I almost lost her.

Wyatt: I know, but don’t you think you might be being overprotective of steffy?

Liam: Over– overprotect– I’m being protective. I’m just being protective and you’re damn right I’m gonna be protective when it comes to kelly and steffy. I am not– I am not going to let finn drag that woman back into all our lives. Mlb chooses t-mobile for business for 5g solutions…

Ridge: You found hope and thomas in bed together. How?

Brooke: Okay, remember when I went over to talk to thomas, to reassure him that I knew that kiss was not on his initiative, but on my daughter’s? Well, I drove up to his house and I saw my daughter’s car there and then I went to knock on the door. Nobody answered, so I went in. I called for thomas a couple of times. And then I noticed my daughter’s purse on the couch and there was muffled voices going on upstairs. So, I was worried. I ran up there.

Ridge: And you found them together.

Brooke: Yeah, that was, uh– that was the last thing I expected to see.

Ridge: Does liam know?

Brooke: My daughter just said she’s capable of making her own decisions. She’ll do what she wants and she didn’t want anybody to know, ridge. She didn’t want me to tell you. But what am I gonna do? I can’t keep secrets from you. Especially because this is something to do with your son.

Ridge: I appreciate, thank you. But that’s what I’m worried about now, thomas sliding back to obsessing over hope just because she’s unhappy in her marriage.

Brooke: So, you think hope did this because she’s upset her marriage is ending?

Ridge: I don’t know why she did what she did. I don’t know. And what do you think? Do you– do you think she really has feelings for thomas?

Thomas: How are you holding up with all this?

Hope: I’m not going to lie. It’s pretty painful to watch my marriage come to an end, but I am appreciative of how thoughtful and considerate you’ve been about all of it. But, I also don’t want you to think that I’ve forgotten about what we shared because, um, it’s kind of pretty much all that I’ve been thinking about.

Thomas: Me too.

Hope: I mean, I’ve– I have a lot of pretty complicated and conflicting things happening inside of me, but… I am sure about one thing.

Bill: You can’t let sheila go on a technicality!

Scott: Unlawful search and seizure is not a technicality, mr. Spencer. Trust me, I didn’t want to have to rule this way. My hands are tied. The law is clear.

Steffy: But what about all the other crimes she committed? She– she tried to kill finn and me. She shot my mother.

Scott: I can only rule on the case in front of me. And remember, unfortunately, you withdrew your statements and refused to testify. So, the state dropped all charges. Without any new evidence–

Carter: Your honor, you have to admit these are very special circumstances. Now, something has to be done–

Scott: This is not a matter of who’s presiding. Any other judge would rule the same. Believe me.E I am very sorry for all of you. I– I had no choice but to dismiss all charges… and set sheila carter free.

[ Sheila sobbing ]

Sheila: I just, I can’t believe I’ve been given another chance. I am free.

[ Sheila sighing ]

Rj: Nothing online yet? Nothing at all?

Brooke: No.

Rj: Any texts from dad? Or anything at all?

Brooke: No, but I’m sure that he’ll call us as soon as the hearing is over.

Rj: Yeah. You seem uncharacteristically kind of calm about all this.

Brooke: I don’t know, I just feel this profound sense of relief. I mean, sheila, whoo. We have lived in fear of her for so many years. She’s always threatened us. And even that time when she disappeared, we never knew when she might just pop up and try to destroy our lives all over again.

Rj: Yeah. Mom, I don’t think you’re gonna have to worry about that after today. Let’s hope.

Brooke: After that confession, and she is going to prison for the rest of her life. She’ll never get out of there.

Bailiff: Ms. Carter, I need to take you to process your release. You could come with me.

Sheila: Happily. You know, miracles, they– they do happen. I’m living proof of that. I believe a miracle could happen for us too, finn.

Steffy: This can’t be real.

Ridge: We’ll figure something out.

Steffy: How am I supposed to keep the children safe?

Ridge: Come here.

Steffy: Oh, finn! Where did you go?

Finn: I– I just had to check on something.

Steffy: A patient?

Finn: Yeah. Yeah. I, uh– a patient.

Steffy: I can’t believe this is happening. I can’t believe sheila’s been released.

Bill: Steffy, I am so sorry. We had her. I want you to file a complaint against that judge and get the decision reversed.

Carter: I’ll look into every possible option.

Steffy: This is terrifying. How is sheila free? (Sung) febreze!

Rj: [ Sighing ] I just, I can’t believe everything that bill did to get sheila to confess to murder.

Brooke: He had us convinced that he was in love with sheila.

Rj: Yeah.

Brooke: And sheila believed that he was in love with her. We– we thought that he was crazy.

Rj: So did I. I mean, it was worth it though, at the end of the day, right?

Brooke: Yeah, it was. Now, we never have to be threatened by sheila again. The thought of her bringing harm to our children, it was just– it’s debilitating at times.

Rj: You know, steffy must have had to deal with so much worry and stress throughout all this. I mean, she’s so protective of kelly and hayes, obviously, but hayes is sheila’s grandson. I mean, that’s family. That’s got to make the whole situation ten times worse for her, right?

Brooke: Yeah. Finn is a great guy, but his birth mother is sheila. That means she’s intimately tied to that family forever and that is, uh– that’s devastating.

Rj: Yeah. Steffy and finn are probably gonna be quite happy when this is all over.

Brooke: Oh!

Rj: I just got a great idea. What if, what if we threw a little bit of a celebration after the verdict?

Brooke: Oh.

Rj: Just a little bit of something?

[ Brooke laughing ]

Brooke: We could do that.

Rj: Yeah?

Brooke: Yeah, we could toast to the fact that– [ Gasps ] We never have to worry about sheila carter ever again.

Rj: Let’s cheers to that.

[ Brooke giggling ]

[ Buzzer sounding ]

Guard: I’ll be right outside.

Mike: Sheila, wow. You’re a sight for sore eyes.

Sheila: I wanted to see you.

Mike: You look good. Surprising, actually, given that it was the first day of your trial. Oh, wait. Guess I don’t need to ask how it went because you’re back here way too fast.

Sheila: Surprising is, uh, a really good word to use.

Mike: Open and shut, huh? They throw the book at you? Sheila… I’m really sorry, but at least you’re not in it alone. There’s another prisoner stuck in this hellhole who’s thinking about you every night before his head hits that rock hard pillow.

Mike: What? What– I don’t get it. What’s going on?

Carter: I’ve already called in restraining orders.

Steffy: We need to increase our security immediately.

Ridge: I’m on it. Don’t worry.

Steffy: Okay, call– call abigail and tell her to– we’ll keep the kids inside because we know that sheila’s gonna go there first. She’s gonna target hayes. I– I can’t believe we’re back here.

Bill: I worked for months to get that confession. The things I had to do.

Carter: Look, I’m as outraged as all of you, but the judge is correct. Based on how the confession was obtained, it can’t be used in court.

Steffy: My god.

Carter: Without it, the case is closed.

Steffy: Yeah, finn and i didn’t testify, so the charges have been dropped. I’m gonna be sick. This is ridiculous.

Liam: Yeah, because it’s sickening. And everybody knows sheila’s a psychopath. Everybody knows anything she touches dies and we have to keep all our families safe from her. Right, finn? You agree with that, right? Even though she’s your birth mother, you agree?

Finn: Of course, I agree. The fact that sheila’s my birth mother means nothing. I’m just as upset as everyone that sheila’s been released.

Mike: What– what are you smiling about? What, they give you 20 years instead of life?

Sheila: Oh, they gave me life. They gave me my life back, mike. My future, my freedom.

Mike: What are you talking about?

Sheila: They dismissed the charges.

Mike: You’re going free?

Sheila: Yes! It’s a miracle. They gave me a second chance. That’s– that’s why I’m here. I wanted to tell you goodbye.

Brooke: Tell me sheila is going away for the rest of her life. Part of me wishes I could have been there just to see her face. What’s wrong? You don’t seem happy.

Ridge: Oh, we’re not happy.

Bill: Things didn’t go as planned.

Brooke: What do you mean? Did she get a lighter sentence?

Carter: No.

Bill: She wasn’t sentenced at all.

Ridge: The judge threw out the case, dismissed all the charges. Sheila was free to go.

Rj: What?

Brooke: Oh, my god.

Steffy: Okay, abigail knows not to go anywhere without security, but honestly, I think that everyone should just stay near the home. The thought of sheila just out there, it terrifies me. Like she thinks she can do anything, if she thinks she could go and she could get hayes.

Finn: Okay, just take a breath, okay? We’re safe here. We have the best security you can have, okay? No one is getting in here.

Steffy: Oh, this day did not go as planned.

Finn: I know.

Steffy: It was such a relief. It was such a relief knowing that sheila was in jail. Like I haven’t even thought about her. And when she was out of jail, I just– no matter where I was, I was worried. I constantly had this anxiety wondering where she is, what she could do, if she’s gonna take hayes.

Finn: Steffy. She’s–

Steffy: Nothing is off limits to her. She will do whatever it takes.

Finn: Look, we are not gonna let anything happen to the kids.

Steffy: But what about you? She acts like she has some kind of, like, claim to you.

Finn: She doesn’T.

Steffy: No, no, she doesn’T. You’re right. We– we’re stronger than that. Okay? We are. No, we’re not gonna let her come anywhere near us. Okay. And our family. Promise me, finn. Promise me.

Wyatt: Hey, you’re back. That was quick. Okay, so tell me, how did it go?

[ Laughing ] Did she cry? No, that’s dumb. Sheila doesn’t know how to cry. But at least they dragged her out of there kicking and screaming, right? Tell me, tell me, tell me.

Liam: Uh, not quite.

Wyatt: Okay. So, what– what happened?

[ Clears throat ] And why aren’t you like ecstatic right now? We don’t have to deal with sheila carter ever again, right?

Liam: Yeah. Well, hm. Maybe, I– the charges were dropped. Sheila was released.

Wyatt: What do you– what do you mean released? Re– like released released?

Liam: Yeah.

Wyatt: No prison? No ankle bracelet? No– she’s just A… productive member of society again released?

Liam: Pretty much. Yeah. Uh, yep.

Wyatt: Why?

Liam: I don’t know. I– I don’t– I don’t know, but um… sheila carter is a free woman and now we all have to deal with it.

Mike: You’re going free? How?

Sheila: Bill’s master plan, it wasn’t so masterful. I mean, he went about things the wrong way, mike.

Mike: What do you mean?

Sheila: The way that they got my confession was illegal. They can’t use my confession as evidence. No evidence, no case.

Mike: Wow. So, no more prison for me. No– no more dark damp cells.

Mike: Yeah.

Sheila: Hey. I’m sorry. I– I know everything that you did for me. I’ll never forget that. Thank you.

Mike: You know how I feel about you, sheila. That’s why I’m happy for you. Man, you always seem to land on your toes. All nine of them.

[ Sheila laughing ] So, you’re going free. What are you gonna do with the rest of your life?

[ Sheila laughing ]

Sheila: I’ve been given a second chance and I’m not gonna waste it. I’m gonna be a real mother to finn, a real grandmother to hayes. I’m not going to let that go. They– they are my family. I’m going to build a relationship with them. Finn loves me. I mean, deep down. I just know it. He loves his mother.

Steffy: Yes. Yeah. If– if connor isn’t available, we just, um, we need someone who specializes in kidnapping. Our kids could be a target and sheila, she is extremely violent. She has access to guns, so we have to take everything into consideration. Okay, yes. Yeah, if we could set up an appointment as soon as possible. Thank you. How did the judge just let sheila walk? This is such an injustice.

Finn: Well, if bill’s plan wasn’t really legal.

Steffy: What are you saying? That sheila deserves to be free? Why– why are you acting so calm? You should be furious right now. She shot me, she shot you and she left us to die. Nothing is off limits to sheila. Why aren’t you upset?

Finn: I am. Of course I am.

Steffy: Sheila needs to stay far away from us and our family. Please tell me you understand that. Tell me you understand that, finn.

Wyatt: I– I don’t– I don’t understand. So– so, dad’s plan backfired because of an unlawful search and seizure?

Liam: I guess so.

Wyatt: That’s stupid. Like I don’t even– I don’t even know what to say to that.

Liam: Yeah. Well, guess what? That’s not even the biggest shocker of the day.

Wyatt: Great. Great. What– what now?

Liam: [ Grunts ] Okay, so, so… charges get dropped, right? Sheila’s released. She gets– she gets escorted out of the room and then, you know, suddenly everybody’s scrambling, right? I mean, they’re trying to, you know, reason with the judge and the whole scene is like pure chaos, but then I noticed that like finn gets up and– and leaves, which was weird because he was there with his wife, who was clearly upset, so you’d think he’d wanna stay with her and console her,

Wyatt: Right.

Liam: No, but he– he takes off and I didn’t know what was going on and so I– I followed him. He didn’t know that I was seeing any of this, but–

Wyatt: Well, what? What? What did you see?

Liam: Well, it turns out he went to see sheila and she hugs him. Right? Now, I’m expecting him to, you know, like, push her off of him and say, you know, “don’t touch me, don’t ever talk to me again.” No, he does the opposite. He just goes for it. He, like, hugs her right back.

Wyatt: What? Are you sure?

Liam: Yeah. No, I’m sure, I’m sure. He put– he put his arms around her and he just held her and it was like intense. Like it was a for like a long time. Like he did– it was as if he didn’t want to let go. And at first I was– I was struggling to process what I was even seeing.

Wyatt: I don’t– I don’t– why would finn want anything to do with that woman after everything that she’s done?

Liam: I don’t know. But this is bad and I’m gonna find out why.

Steffy: Promise me, finn. Promise me you will never have any contact with sheila.

Finn: I promise.

Wyatt: So, finn hugged sheila back. Why?

Liam: I don’t know. I don’t– I don’t know. I mean, that’s not the finn I know. But if he is getting cozy with sheila now, well, that means he’s unable to protect steffy and hayes and kelly. And in that case… well, that’s my job now.

Finn: It’s just, this is crazy. This is– this is actually happening. So much has been going on, you know? With your trip to rome and losing our nanny. Not to mention hope drawing up divorce papers and liam signing ’em.

Steffy: Let’s try to keep that quiet. I don’t know who knows about it.

Finn: Okay, well, it shouldn’t be long now.

Steffy: Yeah.

Finn: Nervous?

Steffy: I was hoping to never lay eyes on her, but… it is worth it if she is sentenced to prison for the rest of her life. How’re you doing?

Finn: I’m anxious as anyone to see sheila pay for what she’s done.

Steffy: Yeah, but she’s still– she’s your birth mother, so…

[ Phone chimes ]

Finn: No, that doesn’t make a difference.

Steffy: Oh, babe, I gotta respond to this.

Finn: Okay.

Brooke: Well, that about covers it.

[ Eric chuckling ]

Eric: This is fantastic. You know, hope for the future has exceeded all of our expectations. And– and we’re gonna surpass quarterly projections, everything. It’s fantastic.

[ Chuckling ] Hope and thomas are quite a team. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.

Brooke: Thanks for having this meeting over breakfast. I think it was a good distraction.

Eric: Exactly what we needed, isn’t it?

Brooke: Yes.

Eric: Yeah. Sheila’s trial starting today?

Brooke: Gonna be a relief when it’s finally over.

Eric: You’re not gonna go today?

Brooke: Oh, gosh, no. I don’t wanna see her face. Not after everything she’s done to us and to our families. Ridge told me he would let me know when he’s sentenced to prison.

Deacon: Hey, is something going on with sheila? I’m sorry, I couldn’t help but overhear.

Brooke: Oh! Uh… well, her trial starts today. Finally, she will be out of our lives once and for all.

Deacon: So today’s the day, huh?

Brooke: Yes. I don’t wanna think about sheila carter ever again.

Eric: She’s terrorized our families long enough.

Brooke: She has. And maybe i should try to find forgiveness, at least for my sake, but… I can’T.

Deacon: I– I understand. You want justice.

Brooke: Yeah, some kind of justice. For whatever that’s worth. She could spend thousands of years in prison and still not make up for all the pain and fear that she’s caused.

Eric: Well, that ends today. Thank god.

Brooke: We can all take solace in the fact that she’s going to prison, and we don’t have to worry about her ever again.

Ridge: Hey.

Steffy: Hi.

Ridge: Sorry we’re late. A little bit of traffic.

Steffy: Oh, it’s– it’s fine. They haven’t started yet. Bill, you’re back from stella maris.

Bill: Wouldn’t miss this for anything.

Steffy: [ Sighs ] Carter, how we lookin’?

Bill: “How we lookin’?” Sheila confessed!

Carter: I know the judge. He’s tough. I can’t imagine him showing any leniency.

Ridge: How you holding up? Where’s finn?

Steffy: I’m doing as well as I can. Finn’s out, he’s taking a phone call. He’ll be right back. I just want this to be over.

Finn: Thanks for the update. I’m– I’m gonna be unavailable for the next little while, so just call dr. Casey if anything changes with his condition. Okay, thanks. I’ll be in touch this afternoon. All right, bye. Liam!

Liam: Hey!

Finn: [ Scoffs ] What are you doing here? Hey, it’s me…your skin.

Finn: Why are you here, liam?

Liam: Wh– why am I here? I mean, uh… [ Chuckles ] To show my support, really.

Finn: Oh. Support for– uh, for steffy? My wife?

Liam: Yeah, yeah. But, you know, well, kelly, my dad, and everyone.

Finn: Okay, look, I– I feel for you, okay? I wouldn’t wish what you’re going through with hope on anyone. No one wants to see a marriage come to an end, especially when children are involved. But if you think that steffy is just gonna–

Liam: Wait, wait, wait. So, wait, I’m sorry. What– I don’t really understand what’s happening here. What did– where is this coming from?

Finn: You just need to know that I’m not gonna tolerate anything inappropriate. I’m not naive, okay? I know you two have a history, and that’s exactly what it’s gonna continue to be.

Liam: Uh… you– o– yeah. Duly noted. Can I go in now?

Finn: This is a family affair. This concerns steffy and my mother–

Liam: Okay, finn, listen, I don’t wanna upset you, but kelly is a part of that family. My daughter lives under your roof, so obviously I have a vested interest in what goes on in there. I wanna see with my own eyes that, yes, steffy, but kelly, my dad, all of us, are– are never threatened by sheila again.

Brooke: Still gives me chills to think that steffy and finn were shot right here in the back alley.

Eric: Oh, thank god, they both survived.

Brooke: Yeah. If you didn’t find them in time, deacon, I hate to think what could’ve happened.

Eric: No matter how much we love kelly and hayes… that could never replace their parents in their lives.

Brooke: I still just can’t wrap my head around it. How sheila could do that. How could she shoot her own son? I mean, where is the maternal love? Where’s the maternal feelings?

Eric: She’s a sociopath. They have no feelings.

Deacon: Well, from what I understand, she didn’t mean to shoot finn, right? He got shot protecting steffy.

Brooke: Yeah, but she still did. And then she shot steffy point blank and left them there to die.

Eric: And that was monstrous.

Brooke: It’s barbaric. But that’s not the first time she tried to kill.

Eric: No, but this is the first one she’s admitted to.

Brooke: Yeah. Hopefully that puts her away for the rest of her life.

Deacon: It just makes you wonder, though. I mean, if she’s– if she’s really that crazy, is prison the right place for her? I– maybe– maybe, you know, she needs to be somewhere where she can get some help.

Brooke: Deacon! She is beyond help.

Eric: For the first time in my life, I– I have to agree with that. I think prison, behind bars for the rest of her life, is where she belongs.

[ Hushed, indistinct chatter ]

Steffy: Liam, what– what are you doing here?

Finn: Huh. Funny, I had the same question.

Liam: Uh, well, moral support, like I told finn. But also, I just wanna see sheila sentenced. I mean, I’d like confirmation that none of us are gonna be terrorized by a psychopath ever again.

Bill: We all wanna close this chapter.

[ Door opens ] Where are you going?

Eric: This– this trial should’ve started by now, shouldn’t it?

Brooke: [ Sighs ] Ridge was gonna keep me updated, but I haven’t heard anything from him yet.

Eric: Yeah. It’s a big day for ridge. And for bill both. They accomplished a great deal. This should give them a great deal of satisfaction.

Brooke: And deacon helped too. I mean, you bought enough time for ridge and bill to catch up to her.

Eric: That must have been hard.

Deacon: Yeah. No, it was.

Brooke: It was very dangerous. You put yourself at significant risk.

Deacon: I never felt unsafe. Look, I– I just had to keep her there. I really didn’t do much. Ridge and bill, they did the heavy lifting.

Eric: Yeah.

Brooke: [ Scoffs ] Especially bill. He had to convince her that he was in love with her and that he wanted a life with her.

Eric: But he did it. He finally got a confession to murder.

Brooke: Which was amazing in itself.

Deacon: I guess it just goes to show that even someone like sheila needs love.

Brooke: Bill had to alienate everybody. And I remember katie was so terrified that he had given up on everything that he believed in. I mean, we were all very concerned.

Eric: I can’t imagine everything he had to go through to do this. But he did. He got her to confess to murder one.

Brooke: Mm-hmm. And ridge was there the whole time with him, helping him! We didn’t even know. And he rigged the house, bill’s house. They both did that.

Eric: Well, they got it done. They got her to confess to murder one.

Brooke: Thank god! We don’t even have to think about her. She’s gonna be locked away in prison. We don’t have to care about her, love her. Nobody’s gonna give a single thought.

Eric: But finn is a good, caring person. This is gonna have a very deep effect on him, to see his mother sentenced for murder.

Steffy: [ Whispering ] Stop making eye contact with her. She’s just trying to get you to feel sorry for her.

Bill: She may try to plea to a lesser charge.

Liam: Would the D.A. Even go for something like that?

Carter: They have the confession, but we’ll find out soon enough.

Bailiff: All to order. The honorable evan scott presiding.

Scott: Thank you. And thank you all for coming today to this special session here in my chambers. As you know, we are here to discuss the charges against ms. Sheila carter. Counsel has opted to do this here in chambers to expedite the legal process. The charges are: Murder in the first, which could result in lifetime imprisonment.

Sheila: I’m gonna spend the rest of my life in prison.

Herman: Stay positive.

[ Clears throat ] Your honor, if I could just–

Scott: Mr. Herman, please sit down. Before we begin, I have something I need to address to everyone present.

Deacon: Are you sure I can’t get you anything else?

Eric: No, thanks, deacon, I’m very satisfied.

Brooke: Oh, me too. And not just for the food.

[ Sighs ] I’m just so relieved that sheila is finally going to get everything that she deserves.

Scott: Most of you gathered here in this chamber today have been greatly harmed by sheila carter. Her past speaks for itself. She has admitted to heinous crimes, and she should pay the price. Mr. Spencer and mr. Forrester, I have to commend you for going above and beyond, for protecting your family. I am well aware of the history ms. Carter has with the forrester family. She has terrorized you for years, and it’s understandable that you wanna see her behind bars. Dr. Finnegan, I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you, to see your mother in handcuffs, and I sympathize with you and your family for the pain she has caused you as well. This is a day you’ve all been waiting for, to see sheila carter finally brought to justice. Which is why it pains me greatly to tell you what I have to say. Unfortunately, after examining the facts of the case, I have no choice but to determine that there is no legal footing. The evidence allegedly tying ms. Carter to murder in the first degree was obtained through unlawful search and seizure.

Bill: What?

Scott: And while I have been very clear that– that mr. Spencer has a pursuit of justice and determination to protect his family and the public, his use of personal connections to federal investigators was murky. It was a glorified fishing expedition for a confession, not knowing exactly what crimes may have been committed prior to the defense’s admission. Furthermore, the means of surveillance? Not legal. Therefore, the defense’s motion to suppress the evidence… is granted. And without further evidence, the charges against ms. Carter for murder in the first degree relies solely on hearsay and speculation, and are therefore dropped.

Steffy: Wha– no! No, no, no, this can’t be happening! She– she tried to kill me, she tried to kill her own son! Please!

Scott: Ms. Finnegan, please. I hear your frustration and your outrage, and I assure you, I share it. If anybody deserves to be behind bars, it’s sheila carter. However, I am familiar with the prior case, and due to the fact that you and dr. Finnegan withdrew your statements and refused to testify, the state dropped its charges. So, unless there is any new evidence in that case… no? I’m sorry. I have no recourse but to pronounce the case against ms. Carter officially dismissed and order her immediate release.

Ridge: You can’t do this! Carter!

Bill: After everything I went through, you’re gonna let this nut walk on a technicality?

Steffy: You have to consider my children! How am I supposed to keep them safe?

Carter: Your honor, as the injured party’s attorney, I motion to file for an appeal.

Scott: Yes, of course. But, counselor, you know you’re wasting your time.

Sheila: Are you… are you saying that I’m free to go?

Scott: Yes, ms. Carter, you are free. But trust me, if I see you in my courtroom again, I doubt you’ll be so lucky.

Sheila: Oh, thank you.

Steffy: Oh, no. No! You have no idea what you’ve done. Dad, what are we gonna do? What are we–

[ Indistinct chatter ]

Steffy: Oh, my gosh.

Ridge: It’s okay.

Steffy: How– how did this happen?

Sheila: I really am free?

Russell: Yes. You are free.

[ Both laughing ] I have some paperwork to finish up, so you stay right here. I’ll be right back, okay?

Sheila: Yeah. Okay.

Russell: Thank you.

Sheila: [ Excited gasp ] Oh, finn! Finn, I– I– I can’t even– I can’t even imagine. I– I never– I never imagined being free. I– I’ve been given the greatest gift. I’ve been given a second chance. Thank god! Thank– thank god. My son! Thank god!

Sheila: Oh, thank you… for– for coming. It’s really nice to see you.

Finn: Well, my office called and said you requested to see me for your pre-trial exam.

Sheila: I always want to see you.

Finn: Well, I shouldn’t be here.

Sheila: But you are here. My handsome son.

Steffy: This seat taken?

Liam: H– hi. Yeah, um, no. It is– well, it is now. That’S… I did not expect to see you today.

Steffy: I was in the neighborhood. So, how are things going with you and hope?

[ Hope sighing ]

Hope: Wow.

[ Hope chuckling ] Now, I don’t recall getting an email about an exclusive for eye on fashion, so…

Wyatt: Well, it’s nice to see you too, hope. I am not here on business. I am here as a concerned brother and concerned brother-in-law, and to be honest with you, I’m not leaving until you tell me what’s going on between you and liam.

Finn: This shouldn’t take too long.

Sheila: Well, take all the time you want. I’ve got no place I need to be.

Finn: Have you had any residual symptoms from your cardiac episode?

Sheila: No. I get paranoid every time my heart starts racing, but I– that could be caused by stress.

Finn: Possibly.

Sheila: I can’t– I can’t imagine, really, what I have to be stressed about. Oh. Could be that I’m locked up in a prison cell.

Finn: You know exactly why you’re in here.

Sheila: I do. I also know that I should be dead right now. You could have let me die, finn, but you didn’T. You saved your mother’s life.

Hope: All right, did you come here to read me the riot act?

[ Wyatt chuckling ]

Wyatt: Come on. You know me better than that.

Hope: Oh, oh, okay. So, you haven’t talked to your brother.

Wyatt: No. I– I know what happened in rome. I promise, I– I’m just here to talk, okay? I– I want to see where your head’s at.

[ Wyatt sighing ]

Hope: Okay.

Wyatt: What are you doing?

Steffy: Thank you. I don’t mean to pry, I’m just, I’m concerned.

Liam: You’re not prying. You– you care and I appreciate it.

Steffy: I’m guessing by your mood, you two haven’t resolved anything.

Liam: Well, she had divorce papers drawn up, so… no.

Steffy: What? Are you tired of clean clothes that just don’t smell clean?

Finn: I’m a doctor. I took an oath not to harm, all right? I treated you as I would any other patient, not because you’re my birth mother.

Sheila: That doesn’t change the fact that you did save me. And I– I’m gonna be forever thankful. I’m never gonna forget that, finn. You know, with my trial coming closer, it’s times like these, memories that I have with you, it really helps me sleep at night, you know. It lets me forget for even a moment that I may never be a free woman again.

Hope: Uh, yes. I did kiss thomas in rome and I will tell you exactly what I told liam and that’s that I honestly don’t know what I was thinking.

Wyatt: Okay.

Hope: But, the more that I have thought about it, the more I think I have come to understand that maybe this needed to happen.

Wyatt: Why?

Hope: Steffy.

Wyatt: Steffy?

Hope: Yes.

Wyatt: What does steffy have to do with this?

Hope: Well, wyatt, you know your brother has feelings for her. You’ve seen the endless cycle for yourself and frankly, wyatt, after how many years, I’m tired and I have tried to move past it, but when liam didn’t afford me that same grace, when he hasn’t been fully committed to the marriage himself, that just…

Wyatt: Where– where are you getting all this though, hm? Because you know liam and steffy have been over for a long time now.

Hope: Like that ever really stopped someone? You know, sometimes feelings, they don’t go away. I mean, look at my life, for example. My mother and ridge and taylor and that endless merry-go-round and the back and forth and wyatt, I vowed that I never wanted to do that to my family. So, I won’T.

Steffy: Oh, my god. Divorce? So hope thinks that the reason for her marriage problems is because of our past together? No, she’s just trying to point the blame at somebody else for her own behavior.

Liam: I– yeah, I mean, i kinda agree. I don’t– I don’t fault her for not wanting to repeat the mistakes her mom made with your dad.

Steffy: That doesn’t justify the harsh decision. Like, filing for divorce?

Liam: Yeah, I– I think it’s a pretext. Uh, listen, she’s not– she’s not wrong that I care about you and I’ll always care about you, but come on. I’m not– I’m not harboring any romantic delusions that you and I are gonna have a future together. I– I’m respecting your marriage to finn, and between you and me, I’m not– I’m not gonna mistake ever again. I’m not gonna cross any lines with you, I promise. She found it.

Wyatt: We’re close, right? I mean, we’ve been through a lot over the years and I understand you not wanting to live your life like your mother and you don’t wanna go on that whole rollercoaster ride.

Hope: Hm. I have worked very hard not to repeat those mistakes.

Wyatt: Right, but you and liam are not the same as your mom and ridge. In fact, you’re far from it.

Hope: Hm. And yet, some patterns are hard to break, so.

Wyatt: I mean, but you did it. You did it with liam. You built a foundation together. Like, you have a family. There’s a lot to fight for.

Hope: Wyatt, I’m not the one that stopped fighting. That was liam. Liam was the one who walked out on our marriage so easily and so… I’m getting off the ride. Wyatt, um… we signed the divorce papers.

Liam: I just want you to know that I know kissing you was wrong. You’re– you’re a married woman and the last thing I want–

Steffy: Hey, hey. We’ve known each other long enough, you do not have to explain. You were at a breaking point.

Liam: Yeah.

Steffy: You were in pain, so let’s just forget about it.

Liam: Okay, but I still want to be clear that I– I have nothing respect for– for finn.

Steffy: I know.

Liam: Especially given who he is and what he’s had to transcend, right? I mean, not everybody has a psychopath for a mother, much less one that tried to kill you, so.

Steffy: Look, I– I– I don’t wanna talk about that, okay? That was a really dark chapter in our lives, but thankfully, we have moved on. We don’t have to worry about sheila anymore. She’s locked up and she’s gonna stay there for the rest of her life.

Finn: Your heart’s racing. Are you telling the truth? Have you had any more symptoms?

Sheila: Just stress. You know, my entire life is in the hands of the justice system and my day of reckoning, it’s coming soon. It’s the last thing I think of when I go to bed at night and the first thing I think of in the morning when I wake up, um, besides you. I can’t escape it. And the thought of living my life without you and hayes, sometimes, it’s– it’s just too much. I love you both so very much. I know how much pain I’ve caused you, finn. All the people that you care about, but you have to know that I love you. I love you more than my own life. You have to know that, my son.

Wyatt: Wait, so you– so you guys are getting a divorce? That’s it? End of the line? You guys have already signed the papers?

Hope: Yes.

Wyatt: Wow. I mean, I– I can’t even– I can’t even believe this.

Hope: Look, I– I take responsibility for what happened with thomas in rome, but wyatt, I mean… if we’re being honest here, this is about so much more. I mean, this is about liam not fighting for us. This is about years, years of betrayal. This is about steffy’s place in your brother’s heart.

Steffy: Finn knows to keep his distance from sheila. She’s caused nothing but pain.

Liam: Well, I don’t doubt it. Everything that woman touches turns to dust.

Steffy: It hurts him to live with the fact that sheila is his mom. It’s not easy, but he’s accepted it. He knows exactly who she is, and after what she did to us, he will never set eyes on her again.

Sheila: You know, when I look back on my life, I’m not proud of what I see, the choices that I’ve made. The people that I’ve hurt. But, one thing that I am very proud of is that I gave birth to you, finn.

Finn: And I will always be grateful to you for that. And I hope you do find a positive purpose in your life, even if– even if it’s in here. You’re healthy enough to stand trial. Um… steffy and I will be at the hearing.

Sheila: So, I’ll, uh… I’ll get to see you one last time.

Finn: Goodbye, sheila.

Sheila: Wait, finn. It doesn’t matter how long we’ve been apart, the love is still there. I loved you from the second you came into this world. I’ve never stopped loving you, my beautiful baby boy. You know, I could just– I could just hold you in my arms and stare at you for hours. It was and still is the proudest moment of my life. And I thank god that you– you chose me as your mother.

Finn: When you– when you hold me like that, it feels– when you hold me like that, it feels like something I have been missing my whole life.

[ Ridge sighing ]

Ridge: What do you think?

Rj: I like it. I like the– the design.

Ridge: It’s all right, huh?

Rj: Yeah.

Ridge: Men’s collection is coming together. You okay?

Rj: Yeah. I don’t know. I’m worried about hope’s marriage a little bit.

Hope: I take full responsibility for what I’ve done with thomas. But, liam, even you have to admit that thomas isn’t the only one that has interfered in our marriage. Steffy has been there all along and it’s starting to feel a little hypocritical and I refuse to put up with it any longer.

Finn: Do you know what the issue is? Some former patient of mine needs to see me right away? Okay. Um, yeah, well, I’m finishing up some things at home, but I guess I’ll just call you back shortly. Okay.

Steffy: No surprise you’re needed.

[ Finn scoffing ] Oh, you’re the best.U’re sh a caring and compassionate doctor.

Mike: Good to see you, sheila. Pulled some strings to arrange a visit with my favorite fellow inmate.

[ Sheila sighing ]

Sheila: What is it you want, mike?

Mike: Oh, I got word your trial’s coming up, and, well, I just hope you’re adjusting to prison life all right. ‘Cause, well, you’re gonna be here a long, long time.

Steffy: I am so proud of you, baby. So many people admire you, not only as a doctor, but as a man too. Especially me. You’re such a kind human being and you would do anything for your patients.

Sheila: Well, your sources are correct. My attorney said that my time before the judge is– is coming.

Mike: Well, just keep your expectations low.

Sheila: Oh, gosh. Your encouragement is– oh, it’s heartwarming, mike.

Mike: What can I say? I’m a realist. Sheila, you’re not getting out of here.

Sheila: Is– is that what this visit is all about?

Mike: Babe, it’s about seeing the bright side. You’re not in here alone. Yours truly is behind bars, too.

Ridge: I admire how much you care about hope.

Rj: Yeah. I really– I– I hate seeing her upset. It’s hard on me.

Ridge: You know what I think?

Rj: No.

Ridge: I think the two of them are gonna be okay.

Rj: I, uh… thanks, thank you. I– I might’ve, uh, gone over to talk to liam, actually, on behalf of hope.

Ridge: Oh.

Rj: I mean, it wasn’t– I was just trying to get through to him, you know, what the stakes are and what he could lose, and I– I really tried to get him to forgive hope.

Liam: I’m sorry. I– forgive me. How did we– how did we get from you kissing thomas to an argument about steffy?

Hope: Because you love her. Right? You’ll always love her. And I– I know that because I’ve lived through this, liam. I’ve– I’ve grown up with ridge and his divided feelings between my mom and taylor and I don’t want any part of it.

Liam: I don’t get the analogy. What, you’re not gonna make the same mistake as brooke by running off with the bad boy? Like, wh– what? So bad? Right now. Today. Is that– is it because he loves me? It’s because he’s dedicated to me? Is it because he’s loyal? Is it because when I look into his eyes, I just see %100 commitment and I can’t say the same for you? Mike: Your attorney offering any hope?

Sheila: Mike, I– I could almost live with the fact that I’d behind bars for the rest of my life. But what makes me crazy is to know that I could never being close to finn and hayes ever again.

Steffy: I gotta get to the office before it gets too late. Dad wants me to look at some samples.

Finn: Yeah, and I gotta call my nurse back about this patient.

Steffy: Yeah, and I’ll– I’ll make those calls this week about a nanny. I’m hoping that we can interview some this week.

Finn: Yes. Thank you. I don’t know what I’d ever do without you. I love our family so much.

Steffy: Me too.

Finn: And I will always do whatever it takes to keep everyone safe and happy.

Rj: I really wish I can be as optimistic about hope and liam’s marriage as you are.

Ridge: But you have doubts.

Rj: Yeah, I have doubts. I– listen, I talked to liam. All right? I looked him in the face. We talked about all this. He is hurt, he is betrayed, he’s blindsid– I’ve never seen him ke I think it’s going to take a miracle for him to forgive hope, honestly.

Ridge: Well, time heals wounds, son. And I think liam going to realize what’s best for him, for his family.

Rj: I mean, do you really think liam is going to throw away his entire life, his marriage over one kiss? I don’t know. You know what, I think I need to just back away. I think– and to think a little more positively about it. Take a page out of your book and just believe that the two of them are going to figure it out. And I hope they do.

Liam: Hope, I– I have been totally committed to you.

Hope: Was that past tense?

Liam: How are you doing– how are you turning this around on me when clearly, you’ve had feeling for thomas for god knows how long.

Hope: Can I ask you a question?

Liam: Fine. What?

Hope: Given how easy it was for you to ask for a divorce from me over a kiss, was it because of steffy? Let me guess. Steffy: Hi, you two.

Ridge: Hi!

Rj:. Hey, steffy. What’s up?

Steffy: Sorry, I’m late. Finn and I are in the process of looking for a new nanny, which can be crazy.

Ridge: Speaking of finn, I was talking to carter and he says that sheila’s trial is approaching.

Steffy: Thank god. That day can’t come soon enough. We can keep sheila carter behind bars for the rest of her life.

Guard: Time’s up, guthrie.

Mike: Already? Man, time flies when you’re having fun. Well, my friend, I will be thinking of you and your day in court. And I will come and have a face-to-face with you every chance I get. You’re stuck with me, now. Maybe we’ll be together forever after all.

Finn: No! Is th– there has to be another way! Is there not any other doctor that’s available? Okay, okay, okay. You know what? Fine. Just tell them I’ll do it one last time, okay? One time, that’s it.

Liam: Yeah, hope, absolutely. I’m re-evaluating some choices now. I’ve always cared about steffy, but this is a whole other–

Hope: Do you hear yourself, liam? That’s part of the problem.

Liam: What is the problem? That I have a history with steffy? That I gave all of that up for you? Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.

Hope: No. No. You meant it. You feel like it was a mistake giving up your life up with steffy.

Liam: Do you feel like I’ve forced you to give up something with thomas?

Hope: I am sorry that I have caused so much pain and heartache. Liam, I promise you you that was never my intention. But maybe, this… was always going to be impossible. Maybe, it’s been… too much back and forth. Too many betrayals, just– maybe, it was just too much to overcome.

Liam: Okay. Okay, so… so, what– what are you saying?

Hope: I love you. I will always love you. And I believe that standing here, at heart, we are both good people. But maybe, the situation is just untenable. I know that you’ve always felt pulled in two different directions and you’ve always wanted more time over at steffy’s, and well, um… yeah, now’s– now’s your chance.

[ Hope sighing ]

Hope: I, uh… I had my attorney draw up divorce papers. Thoughts, martin?

Rj: Hey, does carter have an exact date for the sheila trial?

Ridge: No, not yet. He’s keeping us posted. How do you think finn is gonna feel about his birth mother going away for the rest of her days?

Steffy: He wants sheila to pay for her crimes more than anyone.

Sheila: Why am I still here? Is there someone coming to visit me?

Guard: Yes.

Sheila: Oh, god, please, please. Please let him be coming to see me, please, lord, please. Finn, you came!

Finn: I’m only here as your doctor.

Sheila: It’s okay. It doesn’t matter why you came, it– it just matters that you’re here. I am so grateful to see you, my handsome son. I mean, just look at you. You know, it doesn’t matter what happens. It– it won’t change the fact that I brought you into this world. I’m your mother, finn. Your mother. And I’m never gonna stop loving you.

Liam: Wow. You had the papers drawn up.

Hope: You’re the one who asked for a divorce, liam. Liam, I love you. And I know you will continue to be an amazing father to our baby girl. But…

[ Clears throat ] …You wanted a divorce, so I took you at your word.

[ Liam sighing ]

Liam: You ready for this? You– you’re ready to walk away?

Hope: I did not want this, no. I did not want the heartache and… the pain and– and I did not want to raise our daughter in a broken family. But here we are. So no, liam. I wanted none of this.

Liam: Except maybe thomas.

Hope: You will be free to live your life… and I will be free to live mine. .

Finn: Do you hear that? That is absolute silence.

Steffy: Ugh, it’s so nice. Kelly and hayes’ food fight certainly did not help this morning.

Finn: I had to clean up cereal off the floor.

Steffy: Thank you for helping get it– getting it out of my hair. It was all over me.

Finn: Any time. We’re, um…

Steffy: What?

Finn: We’re gonna have to find a new nanny now that amelia is gone. We haven’t had much luck with sitters.

Steffy: I know, I know, and our moms can only help out so much.

Finn: Um, there is one good thing about not having anyone around.

Steffy: Really?

Finn: Yeah. We can, uh… do more of this.

Steffy: Yeah, we can.

Finn: And find small moments of peace to reconnect.

Steffy: Mm-hmm.

Finn: I just– I feel so blessed to be in a strong marriage considering…

Steffy: Considering what?

Finn: Considering what hope and liam are going through.

Brooke: Honey, I– I just don’t want you to regret this. I know what it’s like to be enticed by the bad boy.

Hope: Oh, my god. Can we just stop with that already?

Brooke: Okay, so what are you trying to tell me, hope? You really are gonna give up on your marriage?

Hope: I just know that I deserve more than half of liam’s heart.

Ridge: Logan.

Brooke: Oh. Hi, ridge.

Ridge: Hi. Hey.

Brooke: Hey.

Ridge: It seems you were miles away. And I guess I know why.

Liam: Hey.

Hope: Hi.

Liam: I, uh, take it you got my text.

Hope: Yeah. I was a little surprised by it, but, uh… I agree. We need to talk. About our marriage and… our future.

Finn: What time is liam coming by to be with kelly?

Steffy: I don’t know. He said he was gonna text me after he saw hope.

Finn: Did he give you any indication about their situation?

Steffy: No, but I’m hoping no news is good news.

Finn: Well, it’d be ideal if hope and liam could work it out, for all of us. Including you and me.

Ridge: Is there any news?

Brooke: Uh, no. I haven’t spoken to hope yet today.

Ridge: Hey, with everything going on, I forgot to tell you how thankful I am for what you did last night.

Brooke: Last night?

Ridge: Yeah, going to talk to thomas. How’d it go?

Hope: I have, um, been thinking a lot about… our future, our past. I mean, how we wound up here. And I am not making excuses for what happened in rome. I hate that I hurt you. I really do. But I think we need to figure out where do we go from here? And if there is hope for our marriage, then I think we need to have a very honest conversation with each other about… everything.

Liam: You and thomas?

Hope: And you and steffy. (Wheezing)

Ridge: I don’t know. I just never would have thought that our amazing reunion was gonna be upstaged by hope and thomas kissing.

Brooke: Yeah, I know. I don’t think anybody predicted that.

Ridge: I’m just trying to make light of something.

Brooke: Yeah.

Ridge: Hope and liam, it’s sad. It’s awful what they’re going through. And I’m grateful that you talked– you talked to thomas and you know that he wasn’t responsible for this. It means a lot to me. It means a lot to him. This was a mistake. Two young people doing something dumb. Maybe it was the city, maybe it was the wine, I don’t know. They’ll get past it. They will. It’s a silly kiss, that’s all.

Brooke: Yeah.

Finn: Look, I’m not being insensitive to what hope and liam are going through.

Steffy: Well, it sounds like you want them to patch things up so it doesn’t upset our life. Liam won’t be coming here and unloading all of his issues with hope on us.

Finn: No, wait a minute, that’s– that’s– that’s not what I’m saying. Look, if liam can find it in his heart to forgive hope, that’ll be the best thing for all of us. And I– look– totally support liam playing a big part in kelly’s life, but I don’t want liam coming around here whenever he chooses, spending too much time with you if it doesn’t work out with hope, especially now when liam’s feeling vulnerable.

Hope: I take full responsibility for what happened with thomas. But liam, you know me and you know that I have always just prided myself on my morals and my standards and yet, in rome… I gave into desire. And I’m not proud of that. I don’t know if it’s ’cause I got caught up in the moment or I was looking for some sort of escape, but… it happened. And I’m not gonna lie to you, liam. The desire was real for me and I know you hate hearing about this and you hate hearing about thomas, but I think we also need to admit that he is not the only one who has interfered in our marriage. And whether you want to admit it or not, I have the sneaking suspicion that you already have gone and done what you always do. You went and you ran to steffy. Some luxury creams just sit on top of skin.

Ridge: So, how did it go? You still haven’t told me how it went when you saw thomas last night.

Brooke: Oh, it was, um, it was… surprising. I mean, not at all what I expected.

Ridge: I was afraid of that. I get it. He’s done awful things to you, to your family, hope, liam. But he’s worked so hard and he’s not the same person. He’s not. He’s– he’s become a better man.

Brooke: I wanna believe that. I really do.

Ridge: But it kinda seems like you don’T.

Brooke: Just not sure that I can.

Ridge: But you see that he’s put the time in, right? He’s a better dad, he’s a better son. He’s trying and I think you need to– to give him a chance. He made a mistake. It was one kiss, but you gotta get past that.

Finn: Just to be clear, I am not jealous or insecure in the least when it comes to liam. And I would never, ever question your love or your commitment. I just don’t trust liam. Not when he’s emotionally freefalling. Look, this is what he does. He– he may be reminded of all the history that you two share.

Steffy: That’s all it is, finn. History.

Finn: Well, I’m just saying, liam better not forget that.

Liam: All right, so, you think I went to steffy. I’m pretty sure you’ve seen thomas since you’ve been back in town. What do we do here? What’s the plan? I mean, steffy’s happily married. Nothing’s happening there, but thomas isn’t, so what do you want? Do you want a relationship with him now?

Hope: We’re not talking about thomas right now.

Liam: We’re not?

Hope: No. We are talking about your relationship with steffy that you have had throughout our entire marriage.

Liam: No, that’s clearly what you want to talk about to deflect. Is that your excuse for kissing thomas?

Hope: No, liam. When I apologized to you for that, I meant it. I own what I did. Look, the more I think about that kiss and why it even happened, why I would allow myself to risk so much… the more I begin to think that it is about something far deeper than just that. It is about the cyclical dynamic that we have had with steffy that has eroded the foundation of our relationship throughout so many years.

Liam: So you kissed thomas because– I’m sorry. This doesn’t make any sense to me. You’re gonna have to connect these dots.

Hope: Okay, fine, look. If you look at the bigger picture, liam, I think this has to do with the fear deeply ingrained inside of me. And that is a childhood where I had to watch my mother shed countless tears over ridge and his divided loyalties between two women and that changes things. And that changed something inside of me, and liam, I refuse to be that woman.

Ridge: I have to believe that everything is gonna work out for the best.

Brooke: I hope you’re right.

Ridge: I am right. People make mistakes. They’ll fight, they work through it and they’re gonna put this behind them.

Brooke: I wanna believe that. I do. I just feel like so many people’s lives are going to be impacted if… if hope and liam can’t find their way back to each other.

Steffy: Baby, you have nothing to worry about. I am committed to you, our marriage, our life together.

Finn: I know and look, I really do feel for what liam’s going through, I just– I don’t want his mind wandering to thoughts of you and kelly.

Steffy: We’re solid. Liam knows that.

Finn: Well, knowing how liam feels about thomas, I can only imagine the blow it was to liam to see that kiss.

Steffy: I can’t believe it happened.

Finn: Maybe some people can’t control themselves. They can’t fight the power and the romance of rome taking over.

[ Steffy sighing ]

Steffy: My gosh.

Liam: Okay, so… let me get this straight. Steffy’s been a non-issue in our relationship for a long time. You kiss thomas in rome and now, suddenly, retroactively, this is about steffy? Hope– I know what you’re doing. I love you and perhaps naively, I never questioned your commitment to me or our marriage. I mean, even when steffy told me rightly that you had something going on with thomas, I didn’t believe it. I– I– I defended you because I always defend you.

Hope: That’s the problem. You always turning to steffy. It is like her shadow has been cast upon the entirety of our relationship. I mean, liam, anytime I wasn’t able to give you what you needed, what you couldn’t communicate to me, you would go and run to her.

Liam: Yeah, I’m sorry for that. I hurt you. I made mistakes. But you didn’t forgive me as quickly as you clearly expect me to forgive you. I had to earn back your trust for months. And we’re not here right now because of my mistakes. We’re here because of yours. We’re here because of what you did and you didn’t just do it with anyone. You did it with the one guy who tried over and over to destroy our family. You wanna know why I want a divorce? It’s because I don’t understand you. I don’t know who you are and I still don’t know what’s going on between you and thomas, so if you wanna tell me, great.

Hope: You wanted a divorce, okay. Fine. Then that means your life is yours and mine is mine. You wanted it. I accept that.

Liam: You beat me to it. You took of your ring first. You know, I cherished what we had. I still will. I didn’t think it would end, especially not like this, but hope, you gotta stop telling yourself it’s because of me and steffy. It’s not. It’s because of you and thomas. I haven’t done anything wrong.

Hope: Except you have. You have planted seeds of betrayal throughout the years, liam, and you have never truly faced any sort of consequences for that, and that, that’s my fault. Because I was always trying to do the right thing for our family, for our marriage, I would try to forgive and move on. But I really need to thank you for not allowing me the same grace because it’s opened my eyes. I’m sorry I hurt you. Truly, I am, but I don’t want to spend the rest of my life with a man wondering where his affections truly lie. I won’t do that. So… go. Find love. Hell, even go find steffy.

Hope: I’m not thinking. I’m feeling and I have never felt a connection like this before.

Brooke: Honey, I’m not gonna allow it. I am not gonna allow you to throw away your life, your marriage, your family for this. This affair with thomas ends tonight.

Wyatt: Liam, you have every right to feel hurt and angry. You’re allowed to feel all of those feelings. But the question is, is if you’re gonna allow that hurt and anger to just completely destroy years of history and a family.

Liam: I– I wish that question had an answer, wyatt.

[ Wyatt scoffing ]

Wyatt: Fine. Here’s a different question then. Do you still love hope? Because if the answer to that is yes, then you have to try and forgive her. Talk to her, listen to her. You gotta do whatever you can to save that marriage before it’s too late.

Steffy: I’m sorry, finn had to rush out. He had to see one of his patients. Moving him out of the icu.

Ridge: Well, I’m glad he’s got his priorities straight, but we did have a date tonight. We were gonna talk about the game.

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, you were gonna talk about soccer all night long.

Ridge: Not all night long, just most of the night and it’s called football.

[ Steffy laughing ] You got a good man, even if he supports peterborough.

Steffy: No, I actually am really grateful. We’ve been talking about that, just how grateful we are for this life. Our beautiful family. Kelly and hayes. Everything’s just so easy with him. It really works and I just feel so lucky. Especially considering everything that’s going on between liam and hope. Because she kissed thomas.

Ridge: I feel for hope and liam. That’s tough.

Steffy: Yeah, it really rocked liam. I mean, he’s not himself.

Ridge: I get that. Look, I know I can say this to you. I’m a little concerned about thomas backsliding with all the fallout. He’s worked so hard.

Steffy: Yeah, I know. I wish it never happened.

Ridge: Hope and liam, they’re gonna be fine. He’s gonna forgive her and they’re gonna– gonna move on. It was a kiss. That’s all.

Brooke: Hope, please. You are making a terrible mistake, but it’s not too late. You can go to liam and you can tell him how much you love him and he will forgive you. You know how much he loves you.

Liam: I don’t know what I believe. Here’s what I know, is that hope looked me in the eye and told me that I’m crazy for thinking that anything could happen between the two of them. I’m crazy for doubting that she loves me and our family more than anything in the world.

Wyatt: Well, she does!

Liam: You are asking me to deny reality! What I saw was not a figment of my imagination.

Wyatt: Okay, fine. It wasn’t and I can’t explain it, but you know what? You are the most forgiving person that I know. You, of all people, can find a way.

Liam: See, that– it’s exactly what steffy said. It’s unreal.

Ridge: Well, I have to keep an eye on thomas. Tell him to keep his head down and avoid any more drama. I just don’t want him to fall into that black hole. Your mom was worried about that too.

Steffy: Yeah, I told liam it’s gonna take time, but he’s gotta forgive hope.

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, we, uh– we all make mistakes and I know forgiveness is tough right now, but it’s possible when you love someone. And liam loves hope.

Kelly: Mommy?

Brooke: But that doesn’t mean you should turn to thomas. He’s obviously taking advantage of this situation. Of you.

Hope: Oh, no. Thomas is not taking advantage of me.

Thomas: I don’t want to take advantage of anything, brooke. And I never wanted to break up her marriage.

Brooke: Well, I find that hard to believe since I came in here and found the two of you in bed together.

Thomas: You came over here telling us that you know what I’m saying is true. And I just want hope to be happy.

Brooke: You want her to be happy? Then, send her home to liam where she belongs. She can fix her marriage.

Hope: Wow, mom.

Brooke: Honey, liam may have said that he wanted a divorce, but he didn’t mean it. You know he loves you.

Hope: Liam may love me, but he also loves someone else. He loves steffy. (Rose h) smoking caused my lung cancer.

Wyatt: I know you and steffy are close and everything, but– hm.

Liam: Yeah, we have a daughter and she’s still my friend.

Wyatt: Right. And you said you saw her in rome too? Before and after you– you saw hope.

Liam: Yeah, well, she was at the event, so she knows what happened.

Wyatt: And you’ve talked to her since you’ve been back?

Liam: I have been over to the house, yes.

Wyatt: Yeah. To see kelly?

Liam: Yes, I– I try to see my daughter as much as I possibly can. Is that okay with you?

Wyatt: Hm, is that it though?

Liam: Yeah, I talk to steffy about stuff like–

Wyatt: About hope? About how disillusioned you are? About how– how much you’re feeling betrayed by her right now?

Liam: I mean, yes, steffy knows– she knows how I feel.

Wyatt: Anything else come up? Any old feelings you might have for steffy?

Liam: Y– like I said, you know, sh– steffy knows how I feel.

Wyatt: Okay, liam, you– you need to be straight with me here. Is there something going on with steffy? Something that might be impacting this whole situation with hope?

Liam: I did something really stupid. Um… I kissed her.

Ridge: When you were a kid, you had bad dreams too.

Steffy: Oh, yes. You’d sit on my bed and hold my hand ’til I fell asleep.

Ridge: My favorite thing.

Steffy: Actually, I have a confession to make. I sometimes would fake a bad dream just so you could be with me.

Ridge: I love that. I had no idea.

Steffy: Nothing made me feel safer than my dad.

Ridge: And I’m sure kelly feels the same way.

Steffy: Oh, kelly adores liam. Um, liam hates not being here, but he’s a great dad. He just has two families, one with me, one with hope.

Ridge: Can I ask you something? Do you think hope turned to thomas because you still have a connection with liam?

Brooke: You refuse to let me repeat your mistakes? Okay. Yeah. Oh, fine. Fine, mom. I don’t want to. I don’t want to be with a man who’s in love with another woman and we all know how liam feels about steffy.

Brooke: Honey, that was in the past. Steffy and liam’s relationship was over a long time ago.

Hope: Oh, no. It is not over. It’s never going to be over, mom. It hangs over our marriage constantly. And I know liam feels that way because he– he has much said so to me. So, I would think that maybe you might understand how I feel in this scenario.

Brooke: My relationship with ridge is very different from yours and liam’S. Just save your marriage. You and liam have worked too hard. Fought too hard to be together. Don’t throw it all away. Save yourself from the pain and heartache.

Hope: Don’t you see that is exactly what I am doing? I am saving myself. And mom, did you ever stop to maybe ask yourself why it was so easy for liam to walk out on our marriage? How he was able to just give it up like that? After all those years that I’ve forgiven him for so much worse? He couldn’t allow me that same forgiveness, mom. Did you think that maybe it’s because he has a backup plan? Because there’s a woman who’s always been waiting there for him to give him exactly what I give him? Family, love, hell, even a daughter.

Brooke: He loves you. He is committed to you.

Hope: Oh, in the same way that ridge is committed to you? I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I know that sounded harsh and I don’t mean to hurt you, mom, but I don’t want to live my life like that. I mean, sure. Yes, you and ridge have– have managed to smooth things out as of late, but how many decades has it been of you chasing after him begging for his love, worrying that he’s thinking about someone else? I don’t want that. So yes, I will always love liam. I will and I hate the way that this has all transpired. But I want to be with a man who wants me… and only me. (Vo) if you have graves’ disease,

Wyatt: You kissed steffy? Twice?

Liam: Yeah. Um, once in rome and once after when we got back.

Wyatt: Oh, my god. Like, I don’t even know what you’re thinking. Like, this is a complete–

Liam: I– I– I don’t know what I was thinking, okay? I was– I– I had just seen my wife in thomas’s arms. I was– I was shell shocked.

Wyatt: Oh, so you thought the best thing that you could do is to go kiss steffy? Someone who you have tons of history with?

Liam: And who is happily married to finn and has her family.

Wyatt: Yes!

Liam: I know, I know it was– it was wrong and stupid and dumb and dumb and stupid and wrong and I know that.

Wyatt: Wait, you cannot– you cannot go down this road, liam. Like, you can’T. That’s not fair to anybody.

Liam: I know. I– I– I never should have crossed the line like that. I have too much respect for steffy and finn and their– and their marriage and kissing her was– it was wrong. It was totally wrong and– and I promise, I promised her, I– I– I’m never gonna do something like that. I’m– I’m never gonna interfere in her life or her marriage ever again.

Ridge: If hope thinks that liam still has feelings for you, that could seriously undermine the relationship.

Liam: I think

[ Liam sniffling ]

I think I made a mistake.

Steffy: Oh, my god. Liam. No, liam loves hope. They’re gonna find their way through this. They’re gonna put their family back together. Liam’s future is with her.

Brooke: Honey, I– I just don’t want you to regret this and I know you will. I do, trust me. I know you’re gonna wake up one day and you’re gonna wish none of this happened. You’ll be devastated and you’ll want to take it all back, but it will be too late. But it’s not too late right now, honey. You can still fight. You can fight for liam. You can fight for your family. You could fight for your marriage.

Hope: I am fighting for myself, mom.

Brooke: Thomas is not gonna make you happy.

Hope: Were you happy all those years that I had to scrape you up off the floor, heartbroken? Were you happy?

Brooke: Of course not, sweetheart.

Hope: Okay, so I think I deserve a little more than that. And please don’t tell me again that liam loves me and I should fight for my marriage when he is the one that refuses to do so.

Brooke: Liam does love you and he will come home.

Hope: Oh, please. Mom, he’s probably over at steffy’s right now declaring his love and begging to be taken back.

Brooke: Steffy is married to finn!

Hope: Like that’s ever stopped anyone before. I mean… I hate what is happening. I hate that liam saw me kiss thomas. I hate that I hurt him. But, mom, after everything that has happened over how many years, I am not sure that I see a future with liam.

[ Brooke sighing ] You don’t mean that.

Hope: I do.

Brooke: Okay. I know what it’s like to be enticed by the bad boy.

Hope: Oh, my gosh. Can we just stop with that already? Mom, yes, thomas has flaws but last time I checked, we all do, right? But thomas also has strengths. You want to know one of them? He wants me and only me. He doesn’t have some other woman rattling around in the back of his head. No, it is just me. You know how good that feels?

Brooke: Oh, okay, so what are you trying to tell me, hope? You really are gonna give up on your marriage? You’re giving up?

[ Hope laughing ]

Hope: I don’t have an answer for you, mom. I– I don’T. I can only ask that you keep what you have seen here tonight between us while I try to figure out my next steps because this is my life and these are my choices and I will live with the consequences. I just know… that I deserve more than half of liam’s heart. And I want to be with a man who is not in love with another woman.

Brooke: Hope!

Hope: Mom! What?

Brooke: You and thomas?

Carter: Okay, so– so you really think it’s a good idea?

Ridge: What? Brooke talking to thomas? I think it’s a great idea. It would mean a lot to him.

Carter: Well, I’m surprised that she’s willing to after everything that’s happened.

Ridge: Why are you surprised by that? Maybe she could see him for who he is instead of who he was.

Taylor: Oh, hey fellas.

Ridge: Hey.

Taylor: Am I interrupting?

Carter: No, no, not at all. It’s good to see you, taylor.

Taylor: It’s good to see you too, carter. I’m looking for thomas. We’re supposed to have dinner and I can not reach him. Do you– do you know where he is?

Ridge: Yeah, he’s with brooke.

Liam: No, no. Once the third quarter projections for australia are finalized, then you send them to me. No, I did– I did tell you that yesterday, bryce. Yeah, all right. Thank you. I thought you went home.

Wyatt: Well, I saw that you didn’t, so I brought chinese.

Liam: Oh. Thank you. I was just, um, finishing up with the sydney team.

Wyatt: Yeah, I know. Nice. I think the way you’ve been handling the situation down under’s been pretty impressive. You know, speaking of situation, I just wonder if you’ve been burying yourself in your work a lot lately because you’re trying to distract yourself from the situation at home. Your marriage. When are you gonna go talk to hope?

Liam: Dude, I really– I really don’t want to talk about hope and thomas.

Wyatt: Right. I get that, but it’s not like the situation’s just gonna go away.

Liam: Yes, I know. I know, wyatt. I’m painfully aware of that. Every time I stop even for a second, what races through my brain is hope kissing thomas. Do you wanna– do you wanna know what the best part of my day has been? Yelling at the sydney team. What does that say?

Wyatt: Okay, you know what? This whole thing has been rough on you, I get that. You don’t want to talk about hope and thomas. That’s fine. So, let’s just take the jackass out of the conversation and we’ll just talk about hope. You remember her. About yay high, blonde hair, great eyes. Your wife. The woman you love.

Taylor: Okay, well why– why is thomas with brooke?

Ridge: She’s worried about hope and liam’s relationship.

Carter: That’s understandable after what just happened in rome.

Taylor: Yeah, but she’s been worried about their relationship for a while. Thomas told me what happened in rome. At least, this time, no one can blame thomas.

Ridge: And brooke agrees. She knows hope started this one.

Hope: Mom, what are you doing here?

Brooke: What are you doing here? In thomas’ bed? You are a married woman or have you forgotten? How could you do this, hope? How? This isn’t charmin!

Wyatt: Spoke to dad today.

Liam: Oh, yeah? Is he checking up on us?

Wyatt: Pretty much. I mean, I told him everything was fine, that he had nothing to worry about, but you know how he is. If he can’t see it, he can’t believe it.

Liam: Wait, you didn’t– you didn’t, um… you didn’t say anything about hope and thomas?

Wyatt: That’s not my business to tell, liam. Neither is you staying at his place while he’s gone.

Liam: Thank you. I appreciate it.

Wyatt: Look, I know that this whole thing has been rough on you, but it’s not like it’s the end of the world, right? J– j– just hear me out, hear me out here. You– you have a lot right going on in your life.

Liam: Do I?

Wyatt: Yes, you do and you know you do. Hope loves you, you love hope. You have beth. You have douglas. You have a beautiful family that everyone can see that.

Liam: Oh, can everybody see that, wyatt?

Wyatt: Yeah.

Liam: Can everybody see that? Do you think hope couldn’t see that when she had her tongue down thomas’ throat?

Wyatt: Fine, I will give you that one.

Liam: Thank you.

Wyatt: But, I don’t want to harp on this. Maybe, just– just maybe, you can find a little bit of compassion and forgiveness for your wife.

Liam: I think I should get back to work.

Wyatt: No, liam, I’m serious here!

Liam: I’m being serious too! What do you think I can do? You think I just have this superpower where I can forget everything that happened in rome? Like, deleted.

Wyatt: You know what? If you really love hope, then you need to dig deep and find a way to talk to her and forgive her.

Taylor: Look, I am– I am– I am glad that brooke knows that– that hope is the one that kissed thomas, but– but see, I just– I just have this feeling that– that thomas is gonna end up getting blamed for this because that is always what happens. And he has risen above so much, the last thing I wanna see is– is hope or any of the logans drag him down.

Ridge: Here we go, okay.

Carter: I should be going.

Ridge: Smart move. Can I come with you?

Carter: Nope. Goodnight.

Taylor: The allure of the city, carter?

Carter: Goodnight, taylor.

[ Taylor sighing ]

Ridge: So, that’s how you feel, huh?

Taylor: I do. I really do. You know how hard thomas has worked to get to where he is and he is a better man. He is a better father and I am so proud of him.

Ridge: So am I. I haven’t seen him so happy or so well-adjusted in a long time.

Taylor: And he’s happy and well-adjusted because he’s been sticking to his program and he is– he is dedicated to being the best version of himself that he can possibly be.

Ridge: I agree.

Taylor: Okay.

Ridge: So, shouldn’t we celebrate that?

Taylor: Ridge, I celebrate that everyday. But now, I’M… I’m worried. I am. I’m– I’m worried that– that hope’s little stunt in rome is gonna be a trigger for our son.

Ridge: Hasn’t been so far.

Taylor: So far. Well, I’ll tell you this, I do not want to see the logans sabotage thomas.

Hope: Mom, please let me explain.

Brooke: How? How are you going to explain? I came here today to tell thomas I knew that kiss wasn’t his fault. I came here in good faith. I was gonna extend an olive branch. And then I find the two of you in bed together. I’m beginning to wonder if you didn’t manipulate my daughter after all.

Hope: Mom, this is not thomas’ fault. He did not manipulate me. I made a choice. I know what I did and I don’t regret it.

Brooke: Honey, you turn to the one man that your husband hates more than anything–

Hope: My husband left me!

Brooke: I refuse to believe that, I do. You have to keep fighting, hope. And this thing that happened here today with you and thomas, this was a mistake. You are not going to be with thomas. When it comes to your hair, ingredients matter.

Ridge: No one is trying to sabotage thomas.

Taylor: Yet.

Ridge: Why do you do that? Why?

Taylor: What?

Ridge: It’s a simple kiss. Nothing’s gonna come of it.

Taylor: Oh, okay, ridge. How can you be so sure of that?

Ridge: I can be sure because if they had wanted to get together, they would’ve done it right here in L.A. Plenty of opportunity.

Taylor: But there were no feelings involved and now there are. Are– are you forgetting that thomas had an obsession?

Ridge: Had an obsession. History, past. It’s changed now.

Taylor: Mm-hmm. Right. But– but now, there is an active trigger and hope is pulling him back into the barrel.

Ridge: It was a simple kiss and it was heat of the moment, that’s all.

Taylor: Okay, well, that simple kiss in the heat of a moment can be very dangerous for our son.

Ridge: No, it’s– it’s not gonna come to that.

Taylor: Well, see, we don’t– we don’t know what thomas is thinking. We don’t know what’s coming up for him. We don’t know how he’s feeling.

Ridge: Here’s what I know. I trust him. Do you?

Taylor: This is not just about trust.

Ridge: Simple question. Do you trust him?

Taylor: I do. I do not trust hope or her mother.

Liam: All right, I really do have to get back to work now.

Wyatt: Oh, come on. Don’t blow me off, man.

Wyatt: Okay, so what’s the problem?

Liam: Because she’s the one who caused all of this in the first place by making out with thomas! Do you– do you understand that every time I close my eyes… yeah, see, there it is. See, there it is again. This is gonna haunt me forever, do you understand that?

Wyatt: Okay, I get that. Seriously, I do. But dude, it was– it was one kiss. One kiss. That’s it! Like, are you willing to just destroy your whole marriage and your family over that?

Thomas: Look, neither of us expected this, brooke. I mean, hope came over here in pain and upset because liam said he wanted a divorce.

Brooke: You should’ve sent her home.

Hope: Could you stop blaming him, mom? I don’t need rescuing right now.

Brooke: Just the other day, you were saying wanted to fix your marriage, you wanted to save it, and now this? It doesn’t make sense.

Hope: I hate what has happened, but liam made it very clear to me that it is over between us.

Brooke: You can’t give up.

Hope: I’m not the one that gave up on my marriage, mom! That was liam! And sure, maybe this is moving too fast with thomas, maybe it’s– maybe it is wrong, maybe it is scandalous, but it was also beautiful and passionate and romantic and if anyone should be able to understand it, it should be you.

[ Brooke sighing ]

Taylor: You think?

Ridge: But this isn’t about brooke. This is about hope and our son and the two of them had a moment in rome and I feel… given enough time, everyone’s gonna forget about it. That’s what I think. What do you think?

Taylor: I don’t, um…

Ridge: Okay, then, let me help you. Let’s just say that everything’s gonna work out just fine.

Taylor: Who are you right now?

Ridge: I know.

Taylor: What is going on? Mr. Positive?

Ridge: Point is this: It’s a simple kiss. It’s not gonna change anything.

Taylor: Mm-hmm.

Wyatt: Liam, don’t let one mistake destroy your entire marriage.

[ Liam sighing ]

Wyatt: No one hates thomas more than I do, okay? Yet I’m asking you to let it go! Forget about him! Concentrate on hope. Think about what you do have. Think about your daughter. You have so much worth fighting for here.

Liam: Wyatt, why thomas? After– after everything that he’s done to us, what– what does that say about hope?

Wyatt: I don’t know why. I don’t know why she did what she did. She probably doesn’t even know why she did what she did.

Liam: Oh, that’s encouraging. That bodes well.

Wyatt: The thing that I do know, liam, is that you are the man that hope wants and loves. That’s it. Not thomas.

Hope: I didn’t plan any of this. I never thought for a minute that I could be with a man like this while I’m still married to another. I mean, how could I possibly, right? That’s not who I am.

Brooke: You’re right. That’s not who you are.

Hope: Yeah. Little miss hope logan. Too good to do something so thoughtless. I mean, how could I possibly? But I hate to break it to you, mom, what thomas and i shared was beautiful. And I have never felt this way before. And I am following my heart just like you did all those years ago and I am not saying that to blame you, mom. I don’t blame you for any of this. If anything, it just makes me feel even worse about the way that I attacked you for your past. Saying that I never wanted to be like you. Well maybe, I was wrong.

Brooke: Honey, you are nothing like me. I made a lot of mistakes in my life. Turning to the wrong man, the inappropriate man, and it cost me a lot. I don’t want you following in my footsteps. I don’t want that kind of life for you. You are so much better than that, hope. And when you say what you and thomas shared was beautiful? Well, I am not gonna believe that because nothing good will come of this. In fact, nothing will come of this. The two of you are going to forget everything that happened here today. You’re gonna wipe it from your minds, from your memories. No more lingering desires. Nothing. And you are going to go back to your husband, to your family, to beth and douglas. That’s where you belong, hope. You’re going to make it work. And this, whatever happened here between you and thomas, it is over. This affair ends today.
