Tessa: So, what kind of turnout can we expect?

Sharon: Well, it’s been a pretty rough year for a lot of folks, so I would be prepared for a big crowd.

Nick: Don’t worry about the food. New hope’s got you covered there. There’s going to be mounds of it for the guests.

Mariah: Wow, look at that. Ashland locke managed to do some good in this world despite himself.

Sharon: Well, that huge donation he made to new hope in rey’s honor, I will always be grateful for.

Nick: Before we begin with the food prep, um, I come bearing gifts. Christian wanted to contribute, so he made, uh, you know, decorations.

Mariah: That’s adorable.

Nick: Yeah, he wanted to bring them by himself, but he is staying home so he can make thanksgiving cards.

Sharon: Oh, so that’s what noah meant when he said he had to supervise an art project.

Nick: Yeah, they’ll be here later. Except for faith’S. I told her I’d take a picture of hers and make sure she gets it today.

Sharon: Oh, our sweet girl. I miss her so much. But, you know, it’s great that she’s such close friends with her roommate that she decided to go home with her for the holiday.

Victoria: Happy thanksgiving.

Sharon: Happy thanksgiving.

Together: Hi.

Sharon: I’m so glad you decided to join us. You know, we were just about to get started setting up.

Victoria: Oh, excellent. Well, put us to work.

Nick: Looks like you’re short a couple hands. Where’s katie?

Victoria: Oh, well, she actually decided to go to the ranch and help the cook with dinner there.

Johnny: I want to know what part she’s “helping” with before I eat it.

[ Laughter ]

Nick: Yeah, I wonder if she’s going to get your mom’s skills in the kitchen.

Victoria: Well, at least i know how to make a reservation.

[ Laughter ]

Chelsea: Hey, everybody.

Nick: Hey.

Sharon: Hi, you two.

Connor: Hey, there.

Chelsea: We’d like to volunteer. We have a dinner, but it’s not till later, so we’d like to donate our time since we have so much to be thankful for.

Abby: I hope this table’s okay.

Nikki: Oh, darling, it’s perfect. We’re just having coffee.

Abby: Great. I will have someone bring it over.

Victor: I didn’t know that you would still be here.

Abby: Well, we are sold out for a holiday dining event, and I wanted to be here to personally oversee all the details.

Victor: I see, I see. Well, I’m sure it’ll be a great success.

Abby: Well, I’m surprised to see the both of you here. I thought you’d be getting everything ready for the family gathering.

Nikki: Well, you know how your father is. He can’t stay away from newman even on a holiday.

Victor: What are you talking about? Speak for yourself. I know that you checked up on your office.

Nikki: Guilty as charged.

Victor: Right.

Nikki: So we’re just going to relax a bit before heading back to the ranch.

Victor: Of course, we’re looking forward to seeing you later with chance and our grandson.

Abby: Yeah, um, to be honest, chance and i are having some problems, so we won’t be spending the day together.

Victor: Huh. Sorry to hear that.

Nikki: I hope you’ll be able to work things out.

Abby: Thank you. Thank you for your concern. Um…I don’t want to get into the details right now, so, uh, if you’ll excuse me.

Nikki: You had no idea about this?

Victor: I have no clue.

Phyllis: Ah.

[ Screams ] Daniel! Oh, my gosh.

Daniel: Mom.

Phyllis: Oh!

Daniel: Happy thanksgiving.

Phyllis: Happy thanksgiving to you. Look at you. Very nice.

Daniel: Oh, thank you.

Phyllis: Okay.

Daniel: Okay.

Phyllis: Yeah. I didn’t know you were coming back into town. Why didn’t you tell me?

Daniel: I wanted to surprise you.

Phyllis: Oh, you did.

Daniel: It’s a good surprise?

Phyllis: Yes, it’s a great surprise. My baby boy. My baby boy. Ah.

Traci: [ Chuckles ]

Kyle: Harrison is upstairs decorating turkey handprints.

Ashley: Cute.

Summer: He is so excited to be here with everyone today.

Jack: Yeah, he’s not the only one.

Allie: I am thrilled to be spending my first thanksgiving with my new family.

Traci: And we are so thrilled to have you here with us.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Doorbell rings ]

Kyle: I’ll get it.

Ashley: I think it’s so fantastic that we’re all here together. All of us loved ones sharing this day, it makes me happy.

Traci: It is fantastic, and the more the merrier, right?

Jack: I’m just so glad you could all be here.

Diane: Happy thanksgiving, everyone.

Devon: I know. Tucker wanted to meet and have a holiday meal together, so we thought we’d beat the rush.

Abby: Well, I’m glad. Things have been so chaotic since…what happened. And, um…I don’t know. Something about seeing your face, it just makes me feel more calm.

Devon: I’m glad I can do something good for you. Have, uh, things gotten any better at all with chance?

Abby: No, um, I’m pretty sure it’s over. He moved out of the house. I don’t even know where he’s staying. He only comes by to see dominic when he knows I’m not going to be there.

Devon: I’m sorry.

Victor: I really thought chance was a good match for her. What the hell happened?

Nikki: I’m sure you’ll find out soon enough. But abby made it clear today is not the day to have that conversation. So patience, darling.

Sharon: That’s so sweet of you guys to want to help. We would love to have you.

Chelsea: Well, it seems like a great way to celebrate the holiday. Plus, it’s the least I can do, considering I’m living right upstairs now.

Victoria: You are?

Chelsea: Yeah, sharon’s the new landlady. Mariah and tessa moved to the tack house, so sharon offered me their old place. So where can we start?

Sharon: Well, you can help me with something in the back, and, connor, why don’t you take this box of decorations out to the patio?

Connor: Sure.

Nick: Don’t forget these.

Chelsea: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: Here you go, dude.

Sharon: And, victoria, if you wouldn’t mind rolling silverware sets into napkins, that would be a really big help. And, johnny, why don’t you have connor on the patio?

Johnny: Sure.

Sharon: Okay, well, let’s get to it, everybody.

Mariah: Alright.

Victoria: You okay?

Connor: Yeah. Fine. But I should go get started.

Victoria: Okay. Sharon gave chelsea the apartment upstairs. When did this happen? What did I miss?

Nick: I don’t know. Chelsea said sharon’s been incredibly kind and generous to her. Maybe just chalk it up to holiday spirit.

Victoria: Maybe. But it seems like there might be more to it than just that.

Connor: I need to talk to you about something so you’ll be cool around my mom. Not say anything mean to her.

Johnny: I was just planning on avoiding her. What’s going on?

Connor: Things were worse than I thought. Mom got super depressed and had to go into a hospital.

Johnny: Hospital?

Connor: I think she’s better. They wouldn’t have let her out otherwise. Dad let me stay over last night and she seems okay, but she takes a lot of deep breaths like she’s stressed out. I know she’s trying real hard to act normal.

Johnny: When I found out she was my biological mother, I completely freaked out. Acted like a total jerk to her.

Connor: I get it. You were worried things might change. So was I.

Johnny: I completely froze out chelsea. I didn’t mean for anything like this to happen.

Connor: I felt the same way and talked to my mom about it. Like, what brought this on.

Johnny: Yeah? And?

Connor: She keeps saying it wasn’t any one thing, and it’s definitely not about you or me.

Johnny: But is that really true?

[ Sighs ]

Mariah: You got it?

Sharon: Hey.

Billy: Hi.

Sharon: Wow, more helping hands. Excellent.

Lily: Yeah, thanks. Of course. How can we help?

Sharon: Why don’t you ask victoria?

Billy: Okay.

Victoria: Hey. Happy thanksgiving. Um, are charlie and mattie home?

Lily: Uh, no. They’re staying in new york.

Victoria: Oh, well, I’m sure you must miss them terribly.

Lily: Uh, yeah, but I tell myself there’s always christmas.

Billy: I got your text. So, uh, johnny’s here, but katie’s already at the ranch?

Victoria: Yeah, she sent me the cutest message, wearing an apron. Here’s a picture of it. I’m not sure what she’s making.

[ Chuckles ]

Billy: Oh, lordy.

Lily: Uh, you know, will you excuse me? Chelsea, hi.

Chelsea: Hey, lily. Happy thanksgiving.

Lily: Thank you. You, too. Um, I haven’t seen you since I heard the news, and I just had some things that I wanted to say. Moderate to severe eczema still disrupts my skin.

Phyllis: How long has it been since you’ve been home with your mother?

Daniel: Way too long.

Phyllis: Wa-a-a-y too long. That’s the correct answer. Way too long. But I’m glad you’re here now. Mm-hmm.

Daniel: You’re usually not this sentimental.

Phyllis: Oh, I’m not?

Daniel: No, you’re not.

Phyllis: Last year sucked for me. It was horrible. You were gone. Summer was across the ocean with her own family. I was all alone. But you’re here. It’s a good reason to give thanks.

Daniel: I’m a little surprised that you wanted to meet here. I figured you’d want to go to some fancy restaurant and have a proper meal.

Phyllis: Really? I don’t want to do that.

Daniel: No?

Phyllis: No.

Daniel: You sure?

Phyllis: Who are you talking to? Who are you talking to? Let’s have chinese. I’ll do that.

Daniel: Yeah?

Phyllis: Let’s have chinese. Let’s go out. Let’s go out to, um, that place that you always used to go to — I’ve never been there — in burlington.

Daniel: You want to go to the place in burlington?

Phyllis: [ Chuckles ] Yes. Do I?

Daniel: Okay.

Phyllis: But let’s go have fun, and then maybe we can meet up with summer for dessert or something after she does her thing with the abbott family.

Daniel: [ Laughs ]

Phyllis: And, uh, how’s that sound?

Daniel: Sounds perfect.

Phyllis: Good.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ]

Abby: I’m sorry. I’m not trying to make this all about me. How are you doing?

Devon: Well, I’m — I’m hanging in there. I don’t want you worrying about me at all, though. You have enough on your plate.

Victor: Hello, devon.

Nikki: Hi.

Devon: Mr. And mrs. Newman, hello.

Victor: Happy thanksgiving.

Devon: Happy thanksgiving.

Nikki: Good to see you. Thank you.

Devon: Good to see you, as well.

Abby: Are you taking off?

Victor: Yeah. Got to go.

Abby: Okay, I will walk you out.

Victor: Alright.

Devon: Take care.

Nikki: Good to see you.

Victor: Devon, nice to see you.

Devon: Yeah, you, as well.

Abby: I am so sorry, but I’m going to have to skip the family dinner tonight.

Nikki: Oh, darling, are you sure?

Victor: You can still come without chance.

Abby: I know, but I just feel like, with everything going on, I’m just going to bury myself in work and spend the rest of the day with dominic. But we will stop by the ranch to see you guys soon. Or, if you’d like, dominic’s there at our place with the nanny if you want to stop and see him on your way home.

Nikki: Well, we just might do that. But we understand. Don’t worry about it.

Abby: Thank you. Um, I’m going to get back to work, but happy thanksgiving.

Victor: You, too, sweetheart.

Abby: Mwah. I love you. Happy thanksgiving.

Nikki: Happy thanksgiving.

Tucker: Hello, there. Nice to see you both.

Nikki: We were just leaving.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ] Oh, hey, by the way, uh, I understand that ashley passed along the information about diane. I assume you’re pleased to get that and, uh, will be putting it to good use.

Nikki: Hopefully, it will encourage her to bid farewell to genoa city. We’ll just have to see.

Victor: You know, tucker mccall, I think we’d all be better off when you and diane get the hell out of town.

Tucker: Well, I hate to disappoint you, victor, but I have a couple more things to accomplish here. But, uh, happy thanksgiving.

Victor: Hey, tucker, you just remember I’m watching you.

Allie: Guys, there are so many pies in the kitchen.

Jack: Yeah, we abbotts take our desserts very seriously.

Kyle: Along with every other course.

Diane: I’m sure every bite will be divine.

Ashley: I’ll take this bottle back with the rest of them.

Kyle: Allie, what were some of your traditions growing up?

Allie: For thanksgiving, uh, let’s see.

Diane: Obviously, ashley isn’t thrilled that I’m here. I hope she can refrain on stirring up any trouble today of all days.

Jack: I agree. I have already warned her to cool it on the antagonism.

Diane: I appreciate that.

Jack: Please don’t read too much into that. Things are not completely resolved, as I see it.

Diane: I know I have a long way to go to get back into your good graces.

Traci: Hey, everybody, look who’s here.

[ Chuckles ]

Summer: Aww.

Harrison: Happy turkey day!

Jack: Happy turkey day, indeed.

Summer: Happy thanksgiving.

[ Laughter ]

Summer: Oh, my gosh.

Jack: Look at that.

Summer: Awesome. ()

Lily: I really hope that you’re doing better.

Chelsea: Thank you, lily. That’s very kind. I appreciate the support.

Lily: So how are things going so far?

Chelsea: Um, I’m taking it day by day. I was in crisis. It was crucial that I got the help that I needed. I really can’t thank billy enough. He truly saved my life.

Billy: Hey.

Johnny: We can stop pretending. I know chelsea went to the hospital because she was seriously depressed. It was bad. Connor filled me in.

Billy: Okay, well, now that you know, how do you feel?

Johnny: I think the crappy way I’ve been treating her ever since I found out that she was my bio mom may have really hurt her.

Billy: I know for certain that chelsea doesn’t feel that way, okay, and she would not want you to think that way, not for a second.

Johnny: Maybe not, but I still feel bad about it.

Billy: Mm-hmm.

Johnny: I’d like to talk to her if you think that’d be okay.

Billy: I’m okay with it.

Victoria: If it’s that important to you.

Johnny: It is. And I’d like to do it now before a ton of people come for dinner and we’re all too busy.

Billy: You want me to come with you?

Johnny: Dad, no. Come on. No offense. Sorry.

Billy: Okay, yeah. None taken.

Johnny: [ Sighs ] Excuse me, could I talk to chelsea a sec?

Lily: Yeah, of course. Um, I have to get back to work anyway, but I’m really glad that you’re doing better.

Chelsea: Thanks. Have a seat, johnny.

Connor: Thanks. What would you like to talk about?

Billy: I know this comes as a shock to you.

Victoria: Yes. Poor chelsea. I had no idea she was in such a fragile state. How serious was this?

Billy: About as serious as it gets. We’re lucky to have her with us still. That first 72 hours in the hospital were crucial, but she’s doing better. I can tell she’s on a good path now.

Victoria: Well, I’m relieved to hear that, but why am I finding this out from johnny now instead of you?

Diane: Harrison, I just love my turkey handprint. I’m going to hang it on my mirror so I can enjoy it every day.

Kyle: Ooh, you hear that, buddy? Your turkeys are a hit. Great job.

Traci: They are. Every single one is just beautiful.

Allie: Yeah, harrison, you might be a little picasso.

Summer: It looks like we’ve got a few extras.

Traci: Nope, no extras. The red one is for phyllis. The pink one is for abby.

Summer: Aww.

Diane: Speaking of phyllis, how is she spending her holiday?

Summer: My brother daniel is in town, so she’s spending the day with him, and I’m going to catch up with them later.

Diane: Sounds nice.

Kyle: What about abby? What’s she up to today?

Ashley: She’s at society, helping with the preparations for their special thanksgiving event. Then she’s going over to the ranch for dinner, and, of course, I’ll be squeezing in some time for them both later, her and dominic.

Diane: I’m sure they’d love to see you.

Ashley: Because that’s what a mother does. I mean, a good mother manages to spend as much time as she can with her child.

Jack: Will noah be dropping by.

Allie: Yes, yes. He’s coming in right after he makes the rounds with the newmans.

Jack: Well, I hope he likes pie.

Allie: Oh, god, yes. He loves anything sweet.

Jack: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, clearly he does.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Oh, excuse me.

Ashley: Do you think that when noah gets here, we can swap him out for diane and just tell her there’s not enough room at the table?

Traci: Ashley, come on. It’s thanksgiving. I’m begging you.

Jack: I just got a text from billy. They are taking part in the annual thanksgiving dinner for the homeless at crimson lights. He and lily say they’re running late, and they don’t know when they’re going to get here. Or, as billy says, “don’t let that bird get cold.”

[ Laughter ] So…dinner is served.

Kyle: Hey, hey, let’s do it.

Diane: Let’s go get some dinner.

Kyle: Hey, we’re going to go eat.

Diane: Come on.

Kyle: Oh, come on. Alright, come on. For people who are a little intense about hydration.

Billy: It wasn’t my story to tell. I mean, that circle of trust was very small. It was sharon and i and, of course, chelsea.

Victoria: Well, I guess that explains why she’s been going out of her way for chelsea lately.

Billy: Sharon? Yeah, she’s been amazing, and her professional experience has been a godsend. And she agrees that this is chelsea’s story and she can choose when and how she wants to share it.

Victoria: Makes sense.

Billy: Look, if it makes you feel any better, adam and connor and lily, they only found out about this yesterday.

Victoria: And now johnny knows. I-I feel sorry for chelsea, and I don’t want to see her suffer, but our son has to be my top priority.

Billy: Absolutely.

Victoria: Just how much has connor told him? What’s chelsea saying to him now? And how’s this going to affect things moving forward?

Billy: I know that chelsea was pretty open with connor, but it doesn’t seem like connor got into the details with johnny.

Victoria: This is heavy stuff for kids that age.

Billy: It is. I’m worried about him, as well, okay, but some of this is out of our control. We just have to be there for johnny as he processes all of this.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] I suppose.

Billy: I mean, look at him. He seems to be handling it with empathy and maturity. Maybe we should follow his lead.

Connor: Anyway, I know it really hurt you with the way i reacted when mom and dad told me the truth about how we’re…related, and as upset as I was, I shouldn’t have gone after you like that. So I’m really sorry if it messed you up, and I hope you’re okay now.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Johnny, thank you for saying that. That means so much to me. But [Sighs] You need to know none of this is your problem. You are not to blame. I really owe you an apology for ever putting you in an awkward position. And you have to believe me when I tell you that what happened to me was the result of a lot of things going on in my life. You know, I just went through a rough patch, but I’m better now.

Johnny: Really?

Chelsea: Really. Yeah. And I need you to know, I think you’re a great kid with terrific parents.

[ Chuckles ] And you’ve always been so kind to connor, and that truly means the world to me. So I’m just hoping…

[ Sighs ] I’m hoping, going forward, we can be friends.

Lily: Hey, I think it’s so great that everyone’s rallying around chelsea.

Sharon: Yeah, she really needs it right now.

Lily: Yeah, billy told me how much you’ve done for her since that night, and that must be such a good feeling.

Sharon: I’m happy that i could be there for chelsea, yeah. But, you know, you deserve a lot of credit, too.

Lily: For what?

Sharon: For the way you’ve hung in there with billy. He’s spent a lot of time helping chelsea these past few days. He’s put a lot of energy into that, and that had to be confusing for you if not frustrating.

Lily: [ Chuckles ] Well, I mean, that was then and this is now, so, hopefully, things will be calmer from here on out.

Daniel: You know, I heard that you have been knocking it out of the park at marchetti.

Phyllis: Mm.

Daniel: And how great is it that you and summer get to work together?

Phyllis: Yeah, that’s super fun.

Daniel: Mm?

Phyllis: Ah, we’ve been talking about me nonstop. I want to talk about you. There’s so much — you know, we have just been texting. We have not really spoken voice-to-voice, okay, and I know there are some details that I’m missing out on.

Daniel: Ah, what details? Come on.

Phyllis: Details. You know. What’s going on with you? So, lucy and heather, where are they?

Daniel: Well, heather got a short-term gig working as a lawyer for this american company in portugal. She took lucy with her.

Phyllis: Portugal?

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Interesting. You didn’t go with them?

Daniel: Eh, you know, I figured it’d be a good experience for lucy to spend some time abroad. And, look, I had a ton of stuff that I needed to take care of that couldn’t wait.

Phyllis: Yeah, like what?

Tucker: I’m delighted you were able to accept my invitation. I figured you and lily would’ve had plans.

Devon: No, nothing big. She’s just going to come hang at my place a little later.

Tucker: Nice. Now, it’s been too many years since you and I shared a holiday. That’s on me, of course.

Devon: Nah, you know what? It’s not on anybody. It’s just the way things are.

Tucker: You know, I’d like things to be different from now on, maybe be a more regular part of your life.

[ Sneezing ] Are you okay?

Abby: Um, maybe that table over there would be good?

Elena: Maybe we should go somewhere else.

Nate: Nope, we’re not going to play it like that.

Elena: Are you sure about that?

Nate: Baby, this is your favorite restaurant. We’re not going to run away because my cousin happens to be in the same room. Excuse me. Hello. Good to see you two.

Devon: Not really.

Nate: Can’t we at least be civil to one another on thanksgiving?

Tucker: See, I don’t think thanksgiving means giving a free pass to someone who stabbed you in the back. What you were planning to do to your family’s just reprehensible. And I don’t foresee devon forgiving you anytime soon, if ever.

Nate: You finished?

Tucker: Hey, man, you made your choice. If you regret it, that’s your problem. You deal with it. You’re going to leave devon alone now.

Phyllis: There’s more to the story, right?

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] Yeah.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Daniel: I had a feeling I wasn’t going to be able to hide anything from you.

Phyllis: What “anything”? What?

Daniel: Let’s just say that things with heather have been a bit rocky, and they have been for a while, I mean, before the whole trip came up. Look, I really don’t want to get into it. Not right now, anyway.

Phyllis: Okay. Well, I mean, everything seemed like it was okay in june when I saw you.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Alright. Well, I’m not going to push. I won’t do that. But, uh… I am here for you. I am always here for you. Okay? And your sister, she is here for you. And whatever you need, just call me, okay?

Daniel: [ Sighs ]

Phyllis: Hey, what are your big plans, by the way?

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] Well, I’m thinking of starting a new chapter of my life. I’ve been channeling my talents in a new direction.

Phyllis: Oh, my goodness. A new direction. Wow. I like hearing this, even though you haven’t told me anything.

Daniel: Well…

[ Both chuckle ]

Phyllis: Well, that is reason to celebrate. Clink.

Daniel: Cheers.

Jack: While we are waiting for the first course, I thought we might go around the table and each say what we are most thankful for today. I think it’d be a good example for harrison. Who wants to go first?

Ashley: I will. I am so grateful for my family and how unified we all are.

Jack: Traci?

Traci: I am so blessed by all of you lovely people who love me and support me every single day.

Allie: I’ll go next. I am so thankful for finding this wonderful family after losing my dad.

Kyle: Summer and harrison.

Summer: Kyle and harrison.

[ Laughter ]

Traci: Harrison, what about you, honey? What are you the most thankful for?

Harrison: Mashed potatoes.

[ Laughter ]

Jack: Diane, would you like to say something?

Diane: Oh, um, I’m grateful for kyle and being able to be reunited with him. And for my amazing grandson, harrison.

[ Chuckles ] And just for being allowed to be part of this family.

Traci: Well, everybody, your words had been quite moving, but I have to admit harrison is my absolute favorite. So extra mashed potatoes for my friend over there.

[ Laughter ]

Harrison: Yay!

Jack: I asked for no conflict today. Just today.

Ashley: There is no conflict, jack. I suggest you tell diane not to get too comfy here.

Allie: I want several.

Jack: Everybody get some rolls?

Traci: Oh, yes. Would you like some?

Jack: Yeah, I would love. I tried everything to remove fabric odors,

Nick: Alright, the line’s already. Halfway down the block. We’re going to open up the doors soon.

Sharon: Wow. Good work, everyone.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Nick: My man, connor, and I, we need an extra set of hands to get the food out of the catering van.

Lily: I’ll help.

Nick: Alright, alright, lily, let’s go.

Lily: [ Chuckles ]

Mariah: Okay, so what else do you need from us?

Sharon: How about an update? That young woman, joss, who’s been considering you as adoptive parents for her baby. What’s the latest? I know that you were anxious to hear more from her.

Tessa: Well, we were going to wait to tell you until after the holiday, but last night we got an e-mail from her, and, apparently, her cousin will be taking the child after the birth.

Sharon: [ Gasps ] Wow. That’s disappointing. I’m so sorry.

Mariah: Yeah, so are we. But she was really nice about it. And she said that she was so impressed with us, and if it had been anybody but family, then she would’ve picked us.

Tessa: Which means a lot.

Sharon: Well, I’m glad you’re staying positive, and you’ll connect with the right birth mother soon.

Mariah: Well, christine prepared us. You know, she said that this possibly wouldn’t work out, and we knew that adoption was going to be a tough road.

Tessa: But the day that we finally bring home our baby, it’ll all be worth it.

Victoria: How did your talk with chelsea go?

Johnny: Good. I told her that I was sorry to hear how sad she was and that i never wanted to add to any of it.

Victoria: What did she say?

Johnny: She said that it had nothing to do with me. And she’s okay now.

[ Sighs ] I’m really glad I talked to her. It was the right thing to do.

Victoria: I’m very proud of you, son. I’m proud of you for being compassionate, for following your heart.

Billy: So, you’re quite the center of attention today.

Chelsea: Everyone has been so kind. You will not hear me complaining.

Billy: Well, that’s good. How’d your conversation with johnny go.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] He was so sweet. He apologized for how he treated me and asked how I was doing. I told him I’m better and that he’s not to blame for any of this.

Billy: That’s good to hear. How much do you think he knows?

Chelsea: Just the bare bones, that I was depressed and spent a few days in the hospital. Nothing about…

Billy: Right. Okay.

Chelsea: I think it was, um… I think it was really positive for both of us.

Billy: Well, that’s good. Um, what do you got planned for the rest of the day?

Chelsea: Connor and I have dinner without adam, actually.

Billy: Alright. Well, if you’re still up for some pumpkin, uh, you can come by devon’s for dessert. Unless, of course, you’re on pumpkin overload, then you can come for the conversation and hang out, if you’d like.

Chelsea: Oh, thank you, billy. That’s a very nice offer.

Billy: Yeah.

Chelsea: I don’t know how the evening will unfold, but I will keep that in mind.

Nate: I really wish that would’ve gone differently. I wanted today to be extra special since I blew it last night with our dinner date.

Elena: Yeah, I’m not really concerned about that right now. After the way tucker just laid into you, how worried should I be?

Nate: Do not worry. I can handle tucker mccall.

Elena: He had no right speaking to you that way. This didn’t happen to him, and I don’t care that he’s devon’s father. He hasn’t been a real parent to him in ages. You and devon need to work this out on your own without tucker’s unwanted interference. Why are you smiling?

Nate: I was just thinking that I am so incredibly lucky to have you by my side.

Elena: [ Sighs ]

Devon: I appreciate you speaking up for me like that, but you don’t have to. I can always fight my own battles.

Tucker: I — I know that, and I’m sorry. I just couldn’t help myself.

Devon: Alright.

Tucker: Oh, uh, be right back. Hey, you.

Ashley: Hi. Happy thanksgiving.

Tucker: Yeah, you, too.

Ashley: Have you seen abby?

Tucker: No, but I’m sure she’s back there somewhere. You okay? You seem a little worked up.

Ashley: [ Sighs ] I was forced to sit down and share a meal with diane today.

Tucker: [ Snickers ]

Ashley: Yeah, exactly. So I just needed to get some fresh air.

Tucker: Yeah, it went that well, eh?

Ashley: I can’t take it anymore. It’s time to bring that bitch down.

Traci: [ Chuckles ] Well, I am so sorry that ashley had to leave, but I know she wanted to spend time with abby and dominic.

Summer: It’s totally understandable.

Jack: Well, ashley is just going to miss out on a fabulous final toast.

Traci: [ Laughs ]

Kyle: [ Chuckling ] If dad does say so himself.

Jack: Seriously, I was just sitting here, thinking that john and dina sat at this very table for so many thanksgivings, and though I wish they were here with us now, I know they are smiling down on us because there is another generation at the table, their great grand children the sign of a growing family, the sign of an ongoing legacy. Everybody, grab a glass. One last toast.

Traci: [ Chuckles ]

Jack: [ Voice breaking ] To family. To love and loyalty. To kindness and compassion. And most of all, today, to gratitude that we can all be here together on this blessed thanksgiving day. And to many more family holidays and gatherings to come.

Lily: Oh, my god!

Daniel: Oh, look at you.

Lily: Wow, it’s so good to see you. What are you doing here?

Daniel: I’ve come to spend thanksgiving with my mother and summer.

Lily: Oh, wow. That’s amazing.

Daniel: Mm-hmm. This is a wonderful surprise. I mean, I came here to get some takeout. The place seems like it has a pretty good vibe.

Lily: Yeah. Abby has done such a great job with this place. Wait, are heather and lucy with you?

Daniel: Actually, they’re in europe.

Lily: Oh. Okay. You’re not spending the holidays together?

Daniel: No, no. Um, heather got a short-term gig working for the legal team of this american company in portugal. So, you know, she had to go, and we just figured it’d be a great experience for lucy to go with her and spend a few months there.

Lily: Wow. That’s really nice. She’s gonna love that.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Lily: I’m sure you miss them like crazy.

Daniel: You have no idea.

Billy: Hi.

Chelsea: Hey. Thanks for coming to meet me. I feel bad taking up more of your time.

Billy: No. No. It’s — it’s, uh — it’s fine. I’m actually glad that you texted. I’m really interested to hear how it went with connor.

Chelsea: Well, I took my therapist’s advice and I was open and honest and I told him about my depression. Unfortunately, connor jumped to the conclusion that he was the reason I was feeling low and he was the reason I was in the hospital.

Billy: Aw. Poor kid. That must have been a very difficult conversation. And I got to think adam’s presence probably made it even worse.

Adam: I came here to relax. I didn’t expect to see you and nick together. But now that I’ve seen you together, I… sally, it’s eating away at me, okay? I know it’s a mistake, and you deserve better than that.

Sally: Okay, well, it’s none of your concern.

Adam: [ Scoffs ] Yes, it is. I feel like I pushed you into his arms. Look, I regret every foolish thing that I did to drive you away. I want to be with you. We belong together. Marry me, sally.

Sally: Okay, you’re a little drunk, okay? So you should probably stop before you make things worse.

Adam: No, no, no, no, no. I know what I’m saying, okay? And so do you. I could see the look on your face when I asked you. You didn’t totally reject the idea. You were just trying to see if i knew what I was saying, and i do. This is what I want. It’s what we both want.

Diane: Kyle? Are you here?

Ashley: Oh, my god. You don’t even bother knocking anymore. Just you and me.

Diane: I’m looking for my son.

Ashley: I’m sure you are. Because you’re scared. And you need to find your very last ally before your lies come crashing down all around you, right?

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

[ Pounding on door ]

Jack: Answer the door!

Tucker: Jack abbott. As I live and breathe.

Jack: Save it.

Tucker: Oh. You seem worked up.

Jack: I’m here to tell you one thing.

Tucker: What’s that?

Jack: Whatever you are planning, it’s not gonna work. I’m sholeh and I lost 75 pounds with golo.

Jack: I think you know what I’m accusing you of.

Tucker: Oh, well, I get accused of many things every day, so you’re gonna have to be a lot more speci–

Jack: Jabot. You’re coming after my company.

Tucker: Hmm. Where’d you get that idea?

Jack: That doesn’t matter. I know it’s true. The problem is, there is one flaw to your plan.

Tucker: Do tell.

Jack: You came back to genoa city to win ashley back and to steal our family’s company out from under us.

Tucker: How ambitious of me.

Jack: The problem is you can’t do both. They are mutually exclusive, which I think you already know. Which tells me that there’s only one goal you’re really after. And given your obsession with winning in the corporate sphere, I’d say you’re coming after jabot, that my sister is just a means to that end, that ashley is being used to get to my company.

Tucker: That was my first drink. But if you don’t mind, I’m gonna pour myself a second one ’cause after listening to you talk, i can tell this is going to be a two-drink-minimum conversation.

Jack: I notice you’re not denying it.

Tucker: [ Sighs ] I’ll just say this. You, like 99.9% of the population, are totally incapable of seeing the big picture like I am.

[ Bottle thuds ]

Diane: I am sorry to disappoint you, but that’s not the reason I’m looking for kyle. You make it sound like I’m about to be run out of town by an angry mob carrying torches and pitchforks.

Ashley: No, I don’t think that happens very often these days. I think we could find you a ride to the airport and somebody to wave bye-bye as you fly off into the wild blue yonder.

Diane: I’m not going anywhere. I might not have many allies in this town, but I have the most important one of all — the truth.

Ashley: I can’t believe you just said that with a straight face.

Diane: Jack is also on my side, and I have told him everything that tucker is planning.

Ashley: Yeah. Well, it doesn’t surprise me that you ran to him for protection. I’m sure you managed to squeeze out a few phony tears and tell jack how you’re such a victim and those mean ladies that just won’t believe that you’ve actually changed.

Diane: Jack believes me because he’s been witness to how unfair the three of you have been to me. Whether it’s phyllis trying to ruin my career or nikki sending that investigative reporter to dredge up my past or you…

Ashley: Me what? I have done absolutely nothing to you.

Diane: You’re colluding with tucker.

Ashley: I’m colluding with tucker? No, I’m not. I’m actually just taking what he told me seriously, diane.

Diane: You know, actually, you’re the most devious of the three. You’re letting nikki and phyllis do all the dirty work in hopes of giving yourself plausible deniability. But jack sees right through you. And the harder you push at me, the more he’s going to protect me.

Ashley: Well, maybe that was true a month ago, diane, but the more you go to him whining and complaining, it’s just not as effective as it once was.

Diane: I don’t think you understand the relationship that jack and I have.

Ashley: I think I understand it quite well. And I’m telling you that his goodwill towards you is waning. And you know why, right? He’s sick of it. He’s sick of you. All of your lies. We’re so sick of it, diane. All the lying and the mess you make wherever you go. It’s boring.

Diane: You’re wrong. And, honestly, it makes you sound petty.

Ashley: I think the worst thing of all for you, though, is gonna be when kyle sees you for who you really are. I mean, that day will come eventually, but until then, you’re gonna just keep playing on his emotions, aren’t you? That poor guy. He just wanted a mom. He just wanted a nice, normal mother, and he got you.

Diane: Kyle knows how much i love him, and he understands that I am trying to make up for lost time.

Ashley: It’s sad. It’s really sad ’cause you keep promising him a future, a big, happy family. But you and I both know there is no future as soon as jeremy stark gets released from prison.

Diane: Oh, really? Jeremy stark.

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Diane: You’re the one who should be worried about that.

Chelsea: Actually, adam was great with connor. He was gentle and understanding. Whatever reservations he had, he followed my lead. He reassured connor that this wasn’t his fault and that I had been dealing with a lot of issues before all the stuff happened with johnny.

Billy: Okay. Well, I’m — I’m actually really glad to hear that.

Chelsea: But then the conversation took a turn. Before I could explain to connor what happened that night on the roof, he figured it out on his own. He said, you know, he’s not a kid anymore, and he told me that he knows what it means when someone wants to un-alive themselves.

Billy: Wow.

Chelsea: I know. I didn’t see that coming.

Billy: I mean, he’s a smart, perceptive boy, but I hope that wasn’t too jarring for you.

Chelsea: It was shocking. But in the end, I think it actually helped us be more open and honest about what happened. And I think connor appreciated that. He could tell I was being authentic, so when I told him this wasn’t his fault, he believed me. When I told him I’m getting better, he knew I was being sincere.

Billy: I’m proud of you.

Chelsea: [ Chuckles ]

Billy: No, really. You — you made the hard choice to have a very difficult conversation, and you didn’t back down.

Adam: Look, I hate that i didn’t take this step before. I mean, it makes all the sense in the world, sally.

Sally: Mr. And mrs. Adam newman? That makes sense to you?

Adam: Yes. I mean, we shouldn’t waste another second being apart. It feels right. Sally, we were meant to be, and I know that you feel the same way because of everything that we shared. Our connection — it cannot be broken.

Sally: [ Breathes deeply ]

Adam: I’m being serious.

Sally: Because you wouldn’t make a joke out of my feelings for you, right? ‘Cause that would just be cruel.

Adam: You’re right. I would not do that, okay? I’ve put you through enough.

Sally: You played games, and you lost. And so now you’re just pulling out all the stops to keep me here, but you know what? I refuse to stay here and let you do this to me. I’m not — I’m not —

Adam: No, sa– look, sally, wait, wait, wait, wait.

Nick: Hey. Hey. Get your hands off her now.

Adam: Just… dishes still coming out dirty?

Adam: Look, are you trying to insinuate that I was threatening sally? Is that what you think you saw, nick?

Nick: Do not grab her like that again.

Adam: You know what? I think what really bothers you is seeing sally with me and what we have, what’s in her heart.

Sally: Do I get a say in this? I listened to you. That is what you wanted, okay? Now do something for me and stop this.

Nick: Let it go.

Adam: [ Breathing heavily ]

Chelsea: Thank you for coming here and listening to me, especially on such short notice.

Billy: It’s all good. I’m glad I was nearby.

Chelsea: Well, I should get back up to connor.

Billy: Yeah. It turns out moving upstairs is a good thing, right? It’s both convenient and worthwhile. It’s nice.

Chelsea: Yeah. We’re both really comfortable up there. Believe it or not, it’s starting to actually feel like home.

Billy: It’s amazing, chelsea. There’s a real — there’s a real shift in you, you know? You seem like you’re more at peace. It’s a good thing to see.

Chelsea: And your support has really helped me get to this place.

Billy: No. It’s all you. It really is. You know, you made the choice to have a difficult conversation, and that was, uh — wasn’t easy to do.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] I was at the lowest point in my life, but now I feel like it’s gonna be a great thanksgiving. I have a lot to be thankful for.

Billy: Yes, you do.

Nick: I’m sorry adam grabbed your arm like that. I also apologize if I made it worse with anything I, uh, said.

Sally: [ Sighs ] No. I’m — I’m glad that you stepped in when you did. But grabbing my arm was not the most outrageous part of his performance.

Nick: What do you mean?

Sally: He proposed to me. And he insisted that we belong together. I mean, why would he do that? In public and half-drunk?

Nick: You know why he did it. He’s willing to do or say anything to end our relationship. It’s not gonna work.

Sally: I like this. I like us.

[ Sighs ]

Nick: I like us, too. I’m gonna go home to christian. I’ll be thinking about you all night.

Sally: I will be thinking about you, too.

Nick: [ Sighs ]

Lily: Thank you. Remember when we went to california?

[ Laughs ]

Daniel: Of course. But I think you mean ran away.

Lily: Oh, my god, that’s right.

Daniel: Let’s not delude us.

Lily: That’s right. We left the state without permission.

Daniel: Our parents were freaking out trying find us.

Lily: [ Laughs ] Oh, and then we were broke, and we got that job where we were wearing fruit costumes. Remember that?

Daniel: Yes, yes! Not the worst job I’ve ever had.

Lily: Oh, my god.

Daniel: Close, but…

Lily: [ Laughs ] Well, I mean, we had no work experience, and they paid cash.

Daniel: Ah, I think the thing I remember most about that whole experience was the, uh, itchy banana costume.

Lily: [ Laughing ] Oh, my god. Aww, those were the good old days. We’ve come a long way since then.

Daniel: Mm. Yes, we have. I mean, look at you. From dressing up as a bunch of grapes to ceo of chancellor-winters? Congratulations.

Lily: Thank you.

Daniel: I mean it. I am extremely impressed with everything that you’ve accomplished.

Lily: Wow. Thank you. Well, I mean, what about you? Renowned artist.

Daniel: Mm.

Lily: Hello?

Daniel: [ Chuckles ]

Lily: Your photography was amazing. And then your painting. Do you have any exhibitions coming up?

Daniel: I’ve been taking a bit of a break lately.

Lily: You’re not painting anymore?

Daniel: Well, I’m still creating. I’ve got a few new ideas that I’m really excited about, and i really like the direction I’m headed. And I want to tell you all about it soon.

Lily: Does it involve another banana costume?

[ Both laugh ]

Daniel: Possibly. Possibly.

[ Clears throat ] I read — I read somewhere that you and billy abbott are a couple? I couldn’t believe it, even after my mother confirmed it.

Lily: I know. It came as a surprise to us, too.

[ Laughs ] Actually, jill made my job offer contingent on the fact that billy and I had to work together as a team, and I was kind of his boss.

[ Both laugh ]

Daniel: I love that. I bet billy didn’T.

Lily: Well, no. I mean, it was fine. He didn’t mind that I was in charge. We have different styles, you know, and different ideas of what’s acceptable risk.

Daniel: And, what, did he keep pushing the envelope and driving you crazy?

Lily: There were some clashes, but… I don’t know. It was good. We were a good combination. Even though, you know, we had our differences, it — it worked.

Daniel: Until it didn’T. Super emma just about sleeps in her cape.

Lily: What makes you say that? Who told you it didn’t work?

Daniel: Oh, I don’t have any insider knowledge as to what happened. I do remember reading the retraction that billy had to write after publishing the ashland locke story. The one without an actual source?

Lily: Yes. That. Uh, I mean, you know, it’s complicated. It wasn’t entirely billy’s fault.

Daniel: Mm. It sounds like you’re trying to brush it off, but that was a big deal. I mean, that’s how you guys lost chanccomm, right?

Lily: I mean, not entirely, but it definitely was a major factor.

Daniel: Well, it sounds like you’ve gotten past that.

Lily: Yeah, got past that incident.

Daniel: I’m sorry. Have there been more?

Lily: I’m sorry. What’s with all these questions? Are you writing a book about my company?

Daniel: No, no. I’m — I’ve just been trying to stay informed as to what’s been going on around here. And I will admit, I’ve been down a few internet rabbit holes looking up my old friends in genoa city.

Lily: [ Chuckles ]

Daniel: [ Sighs ] You know, the rest of genoa city has changed. There’s new buildings and businesses, and a couple of familiar faces I passed in the street, they — they just look different. Older. But you, lily — I mean, you look, um…

Lily: [ Chuckles ] Hey.

Billy: Daniel. Man, hell of a surprise.

Jack: The world according to tucker mccall. This I got it hear. What is it you think I’m missing?

Tucker: Well, first of all, you don’t seem to realize that ashley is just miles ahead of you — and all the other abbotts, actually — in both vision and intellect.

Jack: Oh, you’ll get no argument from me about ashley’s brilliance. But you would be a fool to think you can outwit both of us. And you’re kidding yourself to think that ashley would ever fall in love with you again.

Tucker: Well, time will tell.

Jack: Trust me, the only reason she is spending time with you is solely to uncover what your real motive is.

Tucker: I’m aware of that. She and I have actually discussed it. I’ve accepted her challenge to prove to her that I am sincere in wanting her back and that I’ve got nothing more to hide, which is why I filled her in on all of diane’s nasty little secrets. And apparently, diane has been filling your head with all sorts of fantastic tales of my sinister plans.

Jack: Come on. You and I both know this is about a lot more than you trying to prove your noble intentions to ashley.

Tucker: Are you sure, jack? ‘Cause it seems to me you have no idea what you know. You come here on some fishing expedition, just hoping maybe, just maybe, I’ll confirm your suspicion. I mean, what did you say? That I’m no match for you and ashley together? Well, that means you know the truth — that you, by yourself, are no match for me.

Jack: Wouldn’t it have been easier just to say, “jack, no, I’m not coming after your company”?

Tucker: No. No, I think I’d like to just keep you guessing. I’m having too much fun watching you sweat.

Diane: You’re the one fabricating this outrageous lie that I am somehow responsible for sending jeremy stark to prison? Do you know, if he heard that and believed it, how dangerous that would be?

Ashley: I don’t think it’s a lie, diane.

Diane: Oh, really? Oh, really? You’ve read the court transcripts? You were debriefed by the treasury department and the fbi? You know how it all happened?

Ashley: Clearly, no. But I know the story, and i don’t believe anything out of your mouth. So, there’s that.

Diane: It must feel so nice to be all-knowing.

Ashley: I’m not all-knowing. Like, I don’t know why jeremy stark being released from prison is dangerous for me. I mean, that is what you said, isn’t it?

Diane: Yes, I did.

Ashley: Uh-huh.

Diane: He is a ruthless man. And you’re putting a target on my back. But I’m not the only one in this equation. I am kyle’s mother. I am harrison’s grandmother. I am summer’s mother-in-law. I work in the jabot buildings. I am a welcome guest here. If jeremy stark causes problems for me, it won’t just affect me. It’ll affect your whole family. And that will be your fault.

Ashley: You are just so shameless. It’s gross. It really is. I mean, you’re basically using your own grandson as a human shield.

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

Ashley: I mean, come on. I guess I can’t blame you, though. You’re scared, aren’t you? You should be. You should be very scared. Because you know what? This is your last chance. I’d run if I were you. I’d run before it’s too late.

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

[ Knocking on door ]

Sally: [ Sighs ]

Adam: Hi!

Sally: Wh– what are — what are you — what are you doing? Are you crazy?

Adam: I’m just…

Sally: [ Scoffs ] Wh– no. Come on. You don’t — you don’t — you do not need any more to drink. Did they cut you off upstairs?

Adam: I don’t know. Probably.

Sally: [ Sighs ] Okay, I don’t know if you think this is endearing or it’s romantic, but it’s not. It’s not. It’s maddening and it’s hurtful. Wh– what are you doing? You proposed to me in the middle of a club while I’m with nick, while you’re half-drunk. Why would you do that?

Adam: [ Scoffs ] You know why, sally. We make sense. We’re magic. And I don’t understand why you would rob yourself of that. If you’re on medicare,

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Maybe. But, look, I have never had more clarity about anything in my life. I’ve never felt so totally in sync with someone. We — we are equals on every level. That is — that’s so rare. We can read each other. We — we can… we know what the other one’s thinking, our dreams, our desires, all this —

Sally: Yeah, but that was before.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Yes, before I screwed things up. I know. But I did that for you. I loved you so much that I was willing to cut out a piece of my heart by letting you go. I wanted you to have everything because you deserve it, sally. You’re perfect.

Sally: [ Laughs ] Okay. Now I know you’re drunk.

Adam: I’m — I’m — I’m not saying you’re — you’re not without your flaws. I mean, you’re — you — you’re incredibly complicated. Like a wildfire. A beautiful mess, okay? I know the real you, and I love all of it. And I know that you’re afraid to show that side to nick because of how he’ll react. And let’s face it — you’re with him to hurt me. I get it. And for nick, it’s — it’s just about the sex.

Sally: How is any of that supposed to be flattering? Do you not see how insulting that is? You just told me that I’m using nick and that he’s using me right back.

Adam: Yeah. Because that’s exactly what’s happening.

Billy: Man, it’s really good to see you.

Daniel: You too. Lily and I were just talking about you.

Billy: Uh-oh.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ]

Billy: Are you, uh — are you sticking around, or are you just passing through or what?

Daniel: Here for the holiday, maybe longer.

Billy: Well, that’s cool. I’m sure lily and summer are gonna to be thrilled to see you and heather, lucy.

Lily: Actually, heather and lucy are in portugal.

Billy: Wow. That sounds nice. So, uh — so you’re here alone.

Daniel: Yeah, that’s right. Just me all by myself catching up with old friends.

Billy: Mm.

Lily: How is chelsea?

Chelsea: Uh, she’s good. She’s doing better.

Daniel: I think my food’s ready. I gotta get back to the hotel. Um, I’d love to catch up some more.

Billy: Yeah, that’d be great.

Daniel: Actually, I’d like to run my new idea by the two of you.

Lily: The thing you mentioned before?

Daniel: Exactly. Maybe we could set up a time, i could come by chancellor-winters, and we could talk about it.

[ Groans ] I think it’s gonna be steak for me tonight.

Diane: Ashley, you are so focused in railroading me out of genoa city that you are putting everyone in jeopardy. You’re buying into tucker’s game. I refuse to do that.

Ashley: What are you talking about? The only reason why you’re back in genoa city is because you struck a deal with tucker. You’re the one playing by his rules.

Diane: Not any longer. Have you asked yourself why tucker has so suddenly turned on me?

Ashley: Uh, yeah, I did, and I realize it’s because it’s advantageous to him. He knows there’s a lot of people in this town that would be so happy if he helped send you back to california.

Diane: Oh, and I’m sure he made it sound like a gift so that you would be grateful and reward him appropriately.

Ashley: I know exactly who tucker is. He’s out for himself.

Diane: The real reason that tucker and I are on opposite sides is because I refused to give him information on jabot’s financials. That was originally part of our deal.

Ashley: Jack told me.

Diane: Well, then he must have also told you that i wouldn’t go along with it. It would risk everything I’ve rebuilt with kyle, and so I said no.

Ashley: That’s really great. You know, I’d be careful if i frame your refusal to participate in corporate espionage as a noble act, especially since you agreed to do it in the first place, right? I mean, it kind of sounds like you’re just doing damage control.

Diane: You are missing the point! Tucker was asking me for information about your family business and your love life. Ashley, he’s using you!

[ Door slams ]

Jack: I cannot have the two of you arguing and sniping with each other in this house with harrison here.

Diane: My only goal is to protect this family.

My family. So you need to listen to me.

Adam: Sally, what I’m offering you is love. Sincere, hopeful love. You’re wasting your time with someone — he’s never gonna make you happy. And I just — I would hate to see you settle for…that.

Sally: Okay, I know you can’t stand the idea of me being with nick. So, now what? You’re — you’re doing everything you can to put an end to it?

Adam: No, I’m — I’m being very real. He is never going to treat you the way that you deserve, sally. Yeah, he can make women feel like they’re the most important thing in the world, but he’s just looking for a replacement for sharon. She’ll always have his heart, okay? That’s why it didn’t work out with, uh, him and phyllis — because he couldn’t turn her into sharon. Same thing for chelsea. Poor chelsea. You know, she’s going through a lot, so it’s no wonder that she…

Sally: It’s no wonder what?

Nick: Hey, chels.

Chelsea: Hey.

Nick: How are you?

Chelsea: I’m good.

Nick: Yeah, sharon told me you were, uh, moving upstairs.

Chelsea: Connor and I love it up there. It was really kind and generous of her to offer it to us.

Nick: Well, that’s sharon. What are you doing for thanksgiving?

Chelsea: Uh, you know, I’m not sure yet. I need to talk to adam about it. We’re gonna do something together so connor can be with both his parents.

[ Sighs ] Speaking of, I got to get these pastries upstairs so he can wake up to them in the morning.

Nick: Yeah. Here to pick up some morning treats for christian myself.

Chelsea: Ah, well, great minds think alike.

Nick: Well, I hope you have a great thanksgiving.

Chelsea: You too, nick.

Billy: Sorry that took a little longer than i expected. I wanted to just run over and run back, but…

Lily: No, no, it was fun, actually, running into daniel and catching up.

Billy: Yeah. I know. It was good to see him. It was nice of him. He was kind of like my seat filler, you know, keeping you entertained while I was gone.

Lily: [ Scoffs ] I mean, it wasn’t exactly like that.

Billy: Come on. You two looked like you were having a good time.

Lily: Um, I know that we’ve been really busy and we haven’t had a chance to talk about thanksgiving.

Billy: Thanks-what?

Lily: Yeah, I know what you mean. I feel that way, too. Um, I was thinking that we could help sharon at the coffeehouse. People in need.

Billy: I love that idea. That’s great. And then maybe we can go to the abbotts for dinner after that.

Lily: Yeah. And then maybe devon’s for dessert?

Billy: Boom. Look at that. Plans made.

Lily: Yeah, that was easier than I expected.

[ Chuckles ] I do love thanksgiving. It’s my favorite holiday. Just spending time with family and friends.

Billy: With a big old slice of pie at the end.

Lily: The perfect day.

Billy: Speaking of, uh, family and friends — and in the spirit of thanksgiving — there’s something I want to run by you.

Lily: Does it involve chelsea? Do you struggle with occasional nerve aches

Adam: Chelsea is just going through a lot right now. That’s all.

Sally: Okay, but you said “no wonder.” What did you mean by that?

Adam: Sally, you think I’m — you think I’m drunk, so it doesn’t matter what I tell you.

Sally: Yes, but what you say when you’re drunk might mean more than when you’re sober.

Adam: You’re right. So you should know that I meant everything that I said to you tonight, okay? So, just forget about the booze and my rambling. Pay attention to our connection. That’s what’s important. I know that you understand that. Think about what I said. The proposal. You know, it was from the heart. Just know that I love you.

[ Door closes ]

Nick: Daniel?

Daniel: Nick!

Nick: Look at you!

Daniel: Hey! How you doing?

Nick: Good. Are you home for thanksgiving?

Daniel: Yeah, yeah, just got in today.

Nick: Summer and phyllis have got to be thrilled.

Daniel: Oh, they better be.

[ Both laugh ]

Nick: It’s gonna be an awesome holiday.

Daniel: Well…

Nick: How are heather and lucy?

Daniel: Oh, they’re great. Yeah, they’re just — you know, they’re great.

Billy: You’re right. This does have to do with chelsea.

Lily: [ Sighs ] So, she, what, doesn’t have anywhere to go for thanksgiving?

Billy: I think she’s hoping to spend it with connor and adam, but just in case that doesn’t happen, I don’t want her to be alone on the holiday. That — that wouldn’t be a good idea.

Lily: So you want her to come with us?

Billy: I would like her to have the option, she and connor, depending on what happens.

Lily: Sorry. What do you think is gonna happen?

Billy: I don’t — I don’t know exactly, but, you know, it’s adam. He could — he could choose to fly off to the himalayas the morning of. I don’t know.

Lily: Okay, I don’t think that’s a reasonable scenario.

Billy: Well, something as absurd could happen, and I don’t want her to be left out in the cold. So, if it’s okay with you, it’d be nice if connor and chelsea were able to spend thanksgiving with us, if need be.

Lily: Right. Um, I am sensitive to chelsea’s situation, but you’re making assumptions. You’re worrying about offering help that she might not even need. So, why don’t we just enjoy our holiday and see what happens?

Billy: Okay.

Diane: Ashley, I think you hate me so much that you are blind to what’s happening here. If you let yourself be swayed by these revelations about my time in L.A., Then tucker will succeed. It could be catastrophic.

Ashley: I hardly think that you finally owning up to everything you’ve done and then leaving town would be a catastrophe.

Diane: Instead of spending all of your time thinking about me, you should be worried about tucker. He’s after jabot. You need to open your eyes and see that I’m not the enemy here.

Ashley: Stop telling me what I need to do.

Jack: I just had a very unpleasant meeting with tucker. I think diane is right. He’s coming after jabot.

Diane: And what you need are allies to figure out what tucker is planning and how to stop him, and you couldn’t ask for a better one in this situation than me.

Nick: Wow! Wow! Look at you. Let’S… yeah, let’s go celebrate.

Sally: Are you sure?

Nick: Are you kidding me? With that dress? We are hitting the town.

Sally: Well, terrific, although I do feel kind of bad because you have to be up at the office bright and early, and I don’t have anything on my schedule tomorrow until a mani-pedi at 2:00.

Nick: Don’t worry about me. I operate on minimal sleep. Besides, we have a lot to celebrate.

Sally: Yeah. What are we celebrating, me signing up for unemployment?

Nick: You gonna be doing that before or after your mani-pedi?

Sally: Oh, man, I don’t know. It depends on how late I sleep in.

Nick: See, I would think you’d want to get up at the crack of dawn so you could begin work on your project, which is potentially a very big deal.

Sally: Well, it is still in its embryonic stages. So, you know, there’s nothing to celebrate…yet.

Nick: Oh, this has nothing to do with work. This is about us.

Billy: Hey, sharon, um, how’s our friend upstairs doing? How’s chelsea? No, it’s okay. Lily knows. Actually, chelsea was the one that said that I need to tell her. She was actually adamant about it. She didn’t want lily to get the wrong idea.

Lily: I think what you and billy have done is amazing. I think you’re an angel.

Sharon: Oh, well, I don’t know about that, but, you know, I try to do the right thing whenever I can.

Lily: Yeah. So, now that you know I know, how is she doing?

Sharon: I don’t know. They’ve been up there for a while.

Billy: “They”?

Sharon: Yeah. You know, adam had some reservations at first, but he eventually did what chelsea asked. He brought connor over here so that she could tell him everything that’s going on.

Billy: Well, that’s a very sensitive and delicate conversation to have. I hope adam doesn’t screw it up. Did you tell connor?

Adam: Mm-hmm. It wasn’t easy, but I was truly impressed how chelsea was able to handle it. She was honest and candid. Got pretty emotional. But he seemed to understand.

Sharon: Well, I think his generation has a different perspective on mental health than what we grew up with.

Adam: He’s going to stay with her tonight. You know, he wants to be with his mom right now.

Billy: Did chelsea seem like she was, uh…

Adam: Billy, chelsea is strong enough to handle this on her own. She doesn’t need your support. She’s with her son. She’s okay. Just leave them alone.

Nate: That’s excellent, vivian. And you can send me all that data. Great. Great. I am especially interested in cross-referencing our audiences on our platforms with the top 100 advertisers. Billy: Well, we don’t actually know if it was successful, right? I mean, we’re taking adam’s word on that.

Sharon: Well, I don’t think he would lie about something like this.

Billy: Oh, I wouldn’t be so sure. I mean, I’m sure he has the right intentions, but I’ve never trusted him.

Lily: Well, I think that i agree with sharon right now. I think that we have to take him at his word.

Billy: Sure. But I still think that I should go check up on her real quick, just to be safe.

Sharon: I don’t think you should go up there tonight.

Billy: Okay. Can I call her at least?

Sharon: I don’t know if that’s a good idea, either. She’s with her son. Don’t interrupt their time together.

Lily: Look, billy, I know that you don’t trust adam, but I know that you trust sharon’s expert advice.

Billy: Okay. I won’t bug her tonight.

Lily: You know what? Why don’t we go get dinner? I’m hungry. I know that you haven’t eaten all day.

Billy: I haven’T. No, that sounds really nice. Let’s go grab dinner. Sharon, if you do hear anything, can you just let me know?

Noah: Billy didn’t try busting my chops. What’s wrong?

Sharon: Hopefully nothing. But something has been gnawing away at me, and it made me think of you.

Noah: Oh, yeah. What’s that?

Sharon: Well, I’ve been helping to treat someone recently who’s experiencing some mental-health issues, and it just made me wonder what it felt like for you when I was spiraling out with my bipolar disorder. Moderate-to-severe eczema.

Elena: Devon? Devon?

Devon: Hey.

Elena: Hey, what’s going on?

Devon: How you doing?

Elena: Wow. Whatever you were just thinking about really has a hold on you.

Devon: Oh. Just been a little distracted today.

Devon: It’s just something that I’m having trouble figuring out. That’s all.

Devon: No, no, not at all. I appreciate the offer, though. But it’s something that I have to figure out on my own.

Devon: That’s the one, yeah. What are you doing? You here by yourself, too?

Elena: No. I am meeting nate. Maybe when he gets here, we could all sit down and have a drink together.

Devon: Last thing I’d ever want to do is sit down and have a drink with a traitor.

Nate: Hey, you ready for me?

Victoria: Yes. Come on in. Thank you for staying so late.

Nate: There was a lot to do, even on my first day. So, did I screw something up? Is that what this meeting is about?

Victoria: No. There’s no report of anything going wrong. I just wanted to check in with you and see how it all went.

Nate: Well, it…it all went great. Staff was on top of everything. Today was mostly about settling in and going over all the projects in progress.

Victoria: Good. What did you find?

Nate: Interestingly enough, sally spectra had a lot going on. Every time I made a suggestion, the response was, “sally was doing that.”

Victoria: Oh, well, there’s no need to dwell on your predecessor’s performance.

Nate: I hope you don’t have a problem with me occasionally disagreeing with you, but i think we should talk about her work.

Victoria: And why is that?

Nate: Well, looking over everything, talking to the staff, evaluating places where we need to be stronger, I think sally was doing a really good job. She was implementing some strong, innovative ideas for this division.

Victoria: Those weren’t all her ideas. It takes a team effort, you know?

Nate: Of course, of course. But their leader had them on the right path.

Victoria: What are you saying, nate?

Nate: Look — don’t get me wrong. I am grateful for this opportunity, but I’m not sure why you brought me in to take sally’s place.

Sally: So, what does a celebration of us entail? Do we need, like, party hats or kazoos?

Nick: I would think we’re worthy of at least, like, a trumpet or a saxophone.

Sally: Okay. I like that. Uh, I’m sorry. I think there was a mistake. We didn’t order this.

Nick: Alright. I know who it’s from. Look over your left shoulder.

Sally: Great.

[ Clears throat ] Looks like he’s in the mood to cause another scene.

Sharon: You know, I didn’t mean to ambush you with that question.

Noah: It was definitely unexpected.

Sharon: Well, if it’s an uncomfortable subject for you, we don’t have to talk about it. I was just looking for some insight.

Noah: No, it’s okay. It was hard. Things were bad for you. But then you got help, and you came back stronger and more grounded. That was reassuring.

Sharon: Well, you know, when you’re in it, you don’t think about how it’s going to affect the people you love. You just are focused on yourself and trying to get better. And now I can look back, and I can see how difficult that probably was for you.

Noah: I think it was harder for faith. I was older. It was easier for me to process. Plus, I could do my own research, see what we were inyeah, you know, dad and I, we did our best to shield her from your more manic episodes,rong?

Noah: Nothing.

Sharon: You know, I thought something was on your mind when you came in, and now I’m certain.

Noah: Mom, I’d really rather not talk about it.

Sharon: Hey, I just told you, moms are going to worry. Don’t make me worry any more than I have to. What’s going on?

Noah: You said I’d understand one day when I was a parent. Well, it turns out I almost was a parent. Who says you have to spend more on skincare

Elena: How much harm could one drink with your cousin cause?

Devon: I don’t like him, elena.

Elena: Come on, devon.

Devon: What do you mean, “come on”? It hasn’t been that long since he did what he did to our family. And I thought the two of you split over the whole thing. You’ve taken him back?

Elena: He’s been remorseful. He knows how much he screwed up. He flew too close to the sun, and he got burned.

Devon: You know that he only came clean to us because he thought it would help getting you back.

Elena: I think he’s learned from this.

Devon: Oh. Well, is that why he’s never told us who he was working for? Even though we now know it’s victorian newman, and he won’t admit it. So, he’s still protecting the ceo who went after our company and who still might try and go after it.

Elena: I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think that’s all over.

Devon: How do you know that? Nobody does. And, like I said, the only reason he admitted anything to us is because you showed up to the office that day and put pressure on him to do it. If you hadn’t done that, he wouldn’t have said anything. And he and victoria would have stolen our company out from under us.

Elena: You really believe that?

Devon: I know it for a fact. He’s changed, elena. He’s not the same person he used to be. Hell, maybe he never even was that guy.

Victoria: Sally had some good ideas, but that did not make her a good ceo. There were a lot of dynamics at play. You know, the only reason she was here was because adam wanted to promote his then-girlfriend. She was not my choice. So, when I took over again, I had to make some changes.

Nate: So letting her go was payback for adam?

Victoria: No, I didn’t care about that at all. I mean, sally and adam had been broken up for a while. If I wanted to take a shot at him, I could have done something a little more effective.

Nate: Mm. So, you’re saying there’s nothing personal at all in your decision to dismiss sally?

Victoria: You know, people always say, “it’s nothing personal. It’s just business.” But there is always a personal element to every decision, isn’t there? If I had liked sally, would I have been more inclined to keep her on despite her — her flawed leadership? Possibly. But it’s not a bad thing to like the people that you work with.

Nate: Yeah. That hits pretty close to home for me right now.

Victoria: I thought it might. So, I would advise you not to focus on what sally did or did not accomplish. You have far more to offer than sally ever could. And that is why I made these changes.

Nate: Okay, that all makes sense.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] So, come on. Let’s not focus on the past. I don’t like to do that. We have a bright future. Why don’t we talk about that?

Nate: Sounds good.

Victoria: You’ve had a chance to look things over. So, what are your first impressions? How do you want to put newman media on top?

Nate: I’m excited. I can tell you that much. I don’t want to get into specifics. I need to get better acquainted with all the various projects. But I know I want us to be leaner. It’s good for the bottom line, and it makes us more agile, quicker to respond. Also, I’d like to create an environment where people with good ideas don’t have to jump through five levels of approval. They can initiate projects on their own.

Victoria: Well, I like that.

Nate: Once we have the structure and staff in place, we can create the culture and start to focus on the content.

Victoria: Good. Good. So, what are your thoughts on that?

Nate: I want to be sure we’re putting out quality across all platforms. I don’t want newman media associated with click-bait, cheap production values. We can build our audience without cutting corners.

Victoria: Okay, so you want our brand to be quality, but that goes up against your plan to streamline the staff. Putting out good content takes a lot of manpower. So, you do want to avoid that pitfall.

Nate: Good point. I appreciate that.

Victoria: But I love the direction. I want to encourage you to have big ideas. Create a dream list of all of your projects and go for it. Don’t worry about the cost right now — no limits.

Noah: Audra told me she had no intention of ever telling me about the miscarriage, but being here and seeing me just brought up all these old emotions. She thought that she should let me know.

Sharon: Well, I’m sorry that you’re going through this, especially with the way you found out.

Noah: Yeah, I’m still just trying to, you know, adjust to it all. Now I can’t help but wondering what if? What if I had stayed? Everything would have been different. And I know that I can’t know what it would be like if I’d found out at the time, but it just, um… it feels like a big loss.

Sharon: Well, I’m sorry. Again, I know how much a miscarriage can hurt. I know what it’s like to mourn a child who never was. And I know how long you can carry that pain with you.

Noah: If that baby had lived, um, it would be a few months old by now. You would have had your first grandchild. Ever leave your clothes in the dryer

Devon: She’s just needed back there with her family for support. Going through a lot, you know?

Elena: Well, I know long-distance relationships can be tough, but no matter the distance between you two and how rough it might be to be apart, I think you’re both strong enough to make it through.

Elena: Yeah, I understand if you want your privacy, but you’re both more than welcome to join nate and I.

Lily: Yeah, that’s going to be a no for me.

Billy: Yeah. Separate tables it is.

Lily: Yes. But I would love to catch up with you sometime soon, just the two of us.

Elena: I’d love that, too.

Devon: Have fun.

Billy: I’m surprised you didn’t say more about nate.

Lily: Well, I would have said more if he were actually here. But I’m not going to drag elena into our family issue. She doesn’t deserve that.

Billy: Lily, what’s wrong?

Lily: I don’t know. I’m just… I’m frustrated.

Billy: About?

Lily: Why didn’t you tell me about chelsea in the beginning? We live together. We share everything. Did you think I wouldn’t be sympathetic?

Billy: No, not at all.

Lily: Well, then what? Do you not trust me? Because if that’s the case, then what does that say about our relationship?

Noah: I just realized i didn’t even let you know audra was in town.

Sharon: No, you didn’T.

Noah: Somehow you knew.

Sharon: Um, yeah, mariah kept me in the loop.

Noah: Of course.

Sharon: I mean, I knew you would tell me at some point, when you’re ready, so I just — I never brought it up.

Noah: Allie is the only other one who knows about the miscarriage. I’d really like to keep it between us.

Sharon: Alright. I understand. How did she take the news?

Noah: I think it was a lot for her. You know, it’s hard for her to understand how I had no idea that audra was pregnant, but I really didn’T. If she was showing any signs of pregnancy, I didn’t see them. I didn’t even think that was a possibility at the time.

Sharon: You weren’t, um, you weren’t trying to have a baby, were you?

Noah: No, but I should have had some kind of clue. I mean, who doesn’t see that?

Sharon: I don’t want you to beat yourself up about this. You’re such a kind and loving person.

Noah: And there was nothing kind about the way that I broke it off with audra. I was — I was upset, and I was exhausted by all the drama, and I just — I just left. I didn’t even tell her. It’s no wonder she didn’t let me know she was pregnant.

Nick: You know, I don’t want to feel like I got to leave just because of my brother. On the other hand, I do want to sit over here and wait for him to cause a scene, just so we can prove a point.

Sally: So, if we leave, he controls us. And if we stay, he controls us.

Nick: Yeah, pretty much.

Sally: Well, maybe we should split up, head in different directions. It’s the only way to mess up his plans.

Nick: [ Laughs ] Is that what you want to do?

Noah: I’m not proud of it. You know, it’s just she created so much drama and turmoil, and it’s just I couldn’t take it anymore. So, I left. And apparently she lost the baby the night I moved out.

Sharon: Well, that doesn’t make it your responsibility. Miscarriages, especially in the early stages of pregnancy, are usually due to a developmental issue with it.

Noah: Still, if I had just stayed… you know, if I had just been there, I could’ve helped her. She wouldn’t have to do it all alone.

Sharon: Noah, you wouldn’t have left her in that situation if you had known. You were in a bad relationship, and you had to get out. And I’m sure that growing up around here, you had seen enough of that. You’ve seen it in your own household growing up with us. I know that my own issues I was dealing with didn’t help any of those matters.

Noah: I’m not going to blame you for anything I experienced in my childhood. Okay? You and dad were the best parents a kid could have. Every family has drama. You learn from it. You grow up. You try not to make the same mistakes.

Sharon: Well, I feel bad for you and audra. This is a tough situation. But you can’t change the past, and you shouldn’t beat yourself up.

Billy: I understand why you would be upset, but my discretion about the situation with chelsea had nothing to do with us. And it’s not a commentary on the state of our relationship.

Lily: I just feel caught between having this admiration for how you’re helping her, but then also this gnawing sense that helping her is not good for us.

Billy: I get that. I do. And I feel bad about keeping the severity of what’s gone down from you. But, lily, it just did not feel like my story to tell. I needed chelsea to give me the go-ahead in order to share anything with you.

Lily: Okay. So, even though I wouldn’t have told a soul, you still think it was the right choice?

Billy: I’m just acting on impulses here, okay? I’m improvising, ever since I saw her standing on that ledge. It hasn’t always guided me correctly, but it’s all I got.

Lily: So, then take a step back, okay? It’s not you and chelsea alone on the roof anymore. She has other people. She has sharon, who is a trained professional. She has her own doctor. She has adam, who knows her better than anyone and has a stake in her well-being. All of them are much better suited to help her than you are.

Billy: I made a promise to her, to be there for her, to help her through this. I can’t leave her high and dry.

Lily: You’re not, billy. You have done your part. You have done more than enough.

[ Cellphone pings ] Is chelsea okay?

Billy: She said connor’s sleeping, and she’s going to grab a tea at crimson lights, and she wants to talk.

Lily: Are you going to go?

Billy: No, I don’t want to leave you, not in the middle of this conversation.

Lily: No, you should go. It’s fine. I mean, if she’s reaching out, it’s fine. I understand.

Billy: I’ll be back. Okay, I’ll be back before our food even comes.

Lily: Don’t make promises you can’t keep.

Billy: Okay. That is a promise that is probably not realistic. But I will be back as soon as I can. I really just want to hear from her how the conversation with connor went. And I can also use this time to, you know, let her know that I’m going to be pulling back, that I’m going to let the professionals help in her recovery.

Nate: So, did you always want to work at newman?

Victoria: I wouldn’t say always, given the number of times that I’ve left.

Victoria: Is that something you need to deal with?

Nate: Uh, it’s elena. We’re meeting for a late dinner.

Devon: Hey. What happened with your dinner date with billy?

Lily: It’s been postponed.

Devon: He just rushed out of here like that?

Lily: Yeah, sure did.

Devon: Has he figured out what he’s doing with his life yet?

Lily: I hope not.

Devon: That’s an odd response.

Lily: It’s fine. Don’t read too much into it.

Devon: Well, there’s clearly something bothering you. Would you like to talk about it?

Lily: Um, I’m going to take a page from your book and say, no, I don’t want to talk about it.

Devon: Hmm. Okay. Well, then, I’m going to take that cue to go home since you do not want to talk about it. I hope that whatever is bothering you, you feel better about in the morning, though. Okay?

Lily: Thanks.

Devon: Love you.

Lily: Love you.

Sally: Well, it was a fun night, after all. Although just once, I would like to go out in this town and not run into an ex of yours or mine.

Nick: Yeah, I don’t know how that’s going to be possible, but I think we handled it about as well as we could tonight.

Sally: I agree.

Nick: Let’s go.

Adam: You guys enjoy the wine?

Sally: Uh, it was a little too sweet for me.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Maybe I should have sent over your favorite scotch instead.

Nick: Yeah, we were just taking off. We’ll have to catch up some other time.

Adam: Can I speak to you in private?

Nick: Can we not do this tonight?

Adam: It’ll just take a couple of minutes. I have something that I want to say. Please.

Sally: Just…just a second, okay?

Nick: Yeah.

Sally: You have two minutes.

Adam: Thank you. (Birds chirping)

Victoria: I actually — i developed my passion for the family business working in the mailroom back when we had a big mailroom. You know, back when we did everything on paper. I just remember loving how big the company was. And I loved to see how far newman enterprises’ tentacles could reach. It was — it was inspiring.

Nate: Then you worked your way up from there?

Victoria: Oh, I wouldn’t say that. I mean, I’m aware of my privilege. I know that my last name has given me this opportunity, but I have held positions at every level inside of this organization. And I know it. I know it inside and out.

Nate: You see, that’s why I’m excited to work for you. I want to learn from you.

Victoria: That’s good. But, you know you don’t have to flatter me. You already have the job.

Nate: I’m sincere. That was what interested me about having chancellor-winters under the newman umbrella. I felt like I could have thrived with your guidance. I mean, us just sitting here, trading ideas? That’s the kind of personal leadership I was looking for.

Victoria: Oh, good, because that’s the only way that I know how to work. But I have to tell you, I’m not always going to agree with you. And when I do disagree with you, I’m not always going to sugarcoat things.

Nate: Bring it on. I can take it.

Victoria: Don’t you have dinner with elena?

Nate: Yeah, but she’ll be fine. This is important. I feel like I’m learning a lot already. Plus, we have momentum. Let’s not stop.

Sally: How much have you had to drink?

Adam: I’m fine. Okay? I got here after you and nick did.

Sally: That’s not an answer.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Look — I, um, thank you for taking a minute to talk to me.

Sally: Look. You can’t keep doing this. Adam, you can’t keep showing up wherever I am and demand to talk to me.

Adam: I know. I know. I know. And I’m sorry for earlier. I was out of line.

Sally: Yeah, you were. And now you turn up here tonight.

Adam: I just… I came here to relax. I didn’t expect to see you and nick. But after seeing the two of you together, it’s eating away at me. I know that is a mistake, okay? You deserve better than that, sally.

Sally: Okay, well, you know, it’s none of your concern.

Adam: It is. It is. I feel like I’m the one who drove you into his arms, okay? I regret every foolish thing I did to drive you away. I want to be with you. We belong together. Marry me, sally.

Connor: You’re back and we’re together.

Chelsea: I’m so happy to be back. I missed you so much. And I look forward to spending so much time here together.

Connor: Can I decorate my new room however I want?

Chelsea: Uh, sure. Well, I mean, within reason. Maybe we can do it together. It’ll be our own special project.

Connor: Yeah, that would be fun.

Chelsea: Yeah. And we can do movie nights and we can eat popcorn and get special treats downstairs at crimson lights.

Connor: Awesome.

Chelsea: Just the two of us.

Connor: That sounds nice, mom. But will you promise me something?

Chelsea: Anything.

Connor: Promise you won’t disappear on me again?

Ashley: Hi. What are you doing here? I was on my way to see you. What’s wrong, honey?

Diane: [ Sighs ] Obviously, you’re working. And I can see that you’re busy, but that is no excuse for ignoring my calls. I have an urgent matter that i need to discuss with you.

Jack: There is always something urgent with you. I’m sorry. I don’t have time for your drama right now.

Diane: Okay, well, maybe you don’t want to see me and you don’t want to speak to me, but you at least need to listen to what I have to say.

Nick: [ Sighs ] I guess, uh, see ya around?

Sally: [ Inhales sharply ] Yeah. Um…you know, after our talk earlier, I, uh — I don’t know. I feel like there’s still so much left unresolved. Would you maybe want to join me for a drink and find some answers? Wait. I just want to be clear. I still do not want to talk about your loan offer. So, if you bring it up…

Nick: We can discuss or not discuss whatever you want.

Chelsea: There’s something i need to share with you.

Connor: Okay. Sounds serious.

Chelsea: It is serious. I want to tell you where I’ve been the past few days. Do you remember when I was in the hospital last year?

Connor: Yeah. After you got out, we went to see grandma.

Chelsea: That’s right. Do you remember why I was in the hospital?

Chelsea: Last year, um… last year, I needed help because I was having trouble determining what was real. I was feeling lost, and i couldn’t distinguish what was right or wrong. I was feeling confused, so it was hindering me from focusing on what was important. But I recovered, and I thought that that was past me. And then over the past few days, I could feel myself slipping again, except it felt different this time. It, um… it felt worse, actually. So I decided it was best if i went back to the hospital.

Connor: I think it’s like being sad. Is that why you went to the hospital? Because you felt sad?

Chelsea: That was one of the reasons.

Connor: [ Voice breaking ] I’m sorry, mom. I didn’t mean to make you sad. I didn’t mean to hurt you about johnny or me or anything else. I was just scared.

Chelsea: Oh, connor.

Connor: [ Exhales heavily ]

Phyllis: Hmm.

Tucker: Mm.

[ Chair legs scrape ] Let me buy you a drink.

Tucker: No, I’m just waiting on a to-go order.

Phyllis: Oh, come on. One drink. Sit down. It’ll be fun. You work so hard. Come take a load off.

Sally: So, how do you think things are gonna go at newman media under the new leadership?

Nick: Well, I don’t know if nate’s the right man for the job. And I hate to say it, but his recent behavior has me questioning the man’s integrity.

Sally: Really?

Nick: Plus, I was a real big fan of the old regime. You made a believer out of me, sally. I know you may not be open to it, but I’m hoping you take my offer for a loan as a vote of confidence in your talent.

Sally: As opposed to…?

Nick: Personal favor, i guess.

Sally: [ Clears throat ] Well, despite the fact that you promised not to press me on the issue, I am very grateful for your generous offer.

Nick: Great. Then we can, uh —

Sally: But before you say anything else, I do want to make something perfectly clear. I do not want anyone, including you, thinking that I’m trying to manipulate a romantic situation. ‘Cause there is going to be a ton of people out there who will immediately jump to that conclusion. We both know who they are. That is 100% not who I am. And if there is any doubt on that, then I don’t want your money.

Jack: Honestly, I’m really not interested in what you have to say. Lately, there is always some fresh hell.

Diane: The hell started when tucker mccall came back to town. Jack, you need to watch out for him.

Jack: Why?

Diane: Because there is one last thing about the deal I made with tucker out in L.A. That i haven’t told you yet.

Jack: Of course there is.

Diane: What you don’t know is that tucker wanted me to share any information or documents i could find pertaining to the financial stability of jabot.

Jack: What?

Diane: Yes, he’s obviously looking for a weakness that he can use to exploit the company.

[ Folder thuds ] But I — no! I never gave tucker anything. I mean, you have to know that i would — I would never do that to you or kyle.

Jack: One more lie. One more secret. One more deceit. Another shoe dropping, right on schedule! If you were so loyal, if it was so important for me to have this critical information, why did you hold on to it for so long? Why is it coming out just now?

Diane: [ Sighs ] How white do you think your teeth really are?

Diane: I wanted to tell you before, but I didn’t want to cause any more problems for the family than necessary. Really. Before tucker came back to genoa city, I had no intentions of giving him any information about jabot. But then once he showed up here, I knew that whatever he had planned was not going to be derailed by my lack of cooperation.

Jack: How many times did i ask you if there was more to your arrangement with mccall?

Diane: [ Sighs ] I-I know. I-I know. I was — I was trying — I was trying to handle it by myself and — and making it all go away. I was looking for the perfect opportunity to set a trap for him. I thought that if I could discover his true intentions, then I could catch him red-handed. Jack, you do remember what a ruthless man tucker is. And not to mention all the dangerous people he’s been associated with.

Jack: Yeah, you told me you had plenty of dangerous people in your life, as well.

Diane: [ Sighs ] You mean jeremy stark. And that is exactly who I’m talking about. Because I didn’t get the information to tucker about jabot, he is threatening to use jeremy as a way to get revenge on me.

Jack: Wait. How does he intend to do that?

Diane: Tucker has already told ashley about my connection to jeremy. Jeremy served 6 years of a 10-year prison sentence, but he’s about to be released, and we can be sure that he is not coming out reformed. And now — now, on top of that, nikki and phyllis and ashley are threatening to plant the idea in jeremy’s head that I helped put him away. If they’re successful, he’s gonna want payback.

Abby: I think my marriage might be over.

Ashley: What are you talking about?

Abby: Chance doesn’t think he’s the right person for me. And the worst part is he doesn’t think he wants to be.

Ashley: I don’t understand, honey. You found him. You brought him home when everybody thought he was dead. I mean, you’ve been by his side every step of the way. He went through all this trauma, and there you were. And now he wants to leave this marriage without provocation?

Abby: But he was. He — he was provoked.

Ashley: Did he cheat on you?

Abby: No, mom.

[ Sniffles ] It wasn’t chance. Chance didn’t do anything wrong. It was me. I cheated on him.

[ Sighs heavily ]

Adam: [ Sighs ] Come here, connor. Listen to me.

Connor: [ Sniffles ]

Adam: Nothing that happened is your fault. None of the things your mother is dealing with right now you caused, okay?

Chelsea: Your father is telling you the truth. This is not about one thing that happened or one person. The truth is I have been struggling with a few things in my life, both past and present. But look how things have turned around for me, huh? I was looking for a stable, safe place to live, besides the hotel, and look — I found this great apartment, right?

[ Sighs ] Connor, I — I was just struggling with, um, some stuff with my work. And then — and then we lost rey so suddenly. I know that was really hard on us, right?

Connor: I miss him.

Chelsea: I know. And then I think it was just hard for me when johnny didn’t embrace the news about me being his biological mom. Giving birth to the two of you is the best thing that has ever happened to me. You are my whole world. You know that, right?

Connor: Yeah.

Chelsea: Yeah. And I guess I just — I don’t know. I guess I was hoping, you know,

[Sighs] Johnny could be a part of our family and he could add some light to a life that is already so bright because you’re in it. But it’s not johnny’s fault, either. You know, he’s — he’s allowed to have his feelings.

[ Sighs ] Anyway, um, I am working really hard with my doctors at the hospital to figure out why i went through this period of sadness and — and how I can get better.

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Connor: Is it over now?

Nick: Sally, I don’t think you’re manipulating our relationship. There’s nothing illicit about this. But I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable on account of me or anyone else for the motivation of me offering you this loan.

Sally: I’m sorry. It’s just, enough people assume that adam only hired me for personal reasons that I can’t help worrying that it might happen again.

Nick: Look, I’m not gonna deny that our relationship means a lot to me. But it’s got nothing to do with this offer. I saw early on when we were working together, before we got involved, that you’re a very talented woman. And chloe’s obviously a very driven person, and I think the two of you make an incredible team. So, if you do, in fact, want to start your own fashion label, there’s just no chance it doesn’t become a powerhouse. So, why wouldn’t I want to help you achieve that?

Sally: Running newman media gave me a taste of something bigger. You know, I realized I’m capable of so much more than just designing dresses. I mean, of course I still love the fashion world and can undeniably out-design the best of them. But I don’t know. I just feel like going back to where chloe and I were before is taking a step backward.

Nick: There’s nothing wrong with taking a step backward, sally. Sometimes you got to do that to propel yourself forward.

Sally: I know. And I’m not saying that I have to start at the top. I just… I don’t know. I might want to try something new.

Nick: Like what?

Sally: Well, I thought about maybe putting my fashion sense into interior design or an event-planning business. I don’t know yet.

Nick: [ Sighs ] Well, I think you’d be successful in either one of those arenas. Take interior design, for example. You could combine your amazing artistic sense along with your keen eye for what looks good. There’s just no way it fails. That goes for anything you put your mind to. And here’s the thing, sally — you don’t have to have all the answers right now. You take it one step at a time. And I hope you know, if you want, I’ll be right there by your side to help you figure it all out.

Phyllis: I would like to propose a toast.

Tucker: To what?

Phyllis: You. And, uh, the interesting tidbit you gave to ashley about diane and her activity in los angeles with jeremy stark.

Tucker: I hope you can put it to good use.

Tucker: Glad to hear it.

Phyllis: I’m not done. I have another stone.

Tucker: What stone’s that?

Phyllis: You. Why are you here, tucker? What are you doing back in this town? What do you plan to get out of all of this?

Ashley: You cheated on chance? Oh, honey. I’m assuming this is just a one-time, meaningless mistake, right? And you’re never gonna see this person again?

Abby: [ Sniffles ] This person is gonna be a part of our lives forever. Or, at least, dominic’s life.

Ashley: You slept with devon?

Abby: [ Sighs ] We were both feeling so alone and isolated. Amanda was in virginia for who knows how long, and chance — he’s just always working. I-I don’t know. It just happened.

Ashley: I know, honey. Sometimes things just happen. Sometimes they just happen.

Chelsea: As your mom, i always want to be honest with you. And I want this sadness to stop. I really do. But it’s an illness. It’s not like a physical one, like a — like a cold or an infection, but a mental one. So I need help from my doctors to learn how to manage it and how to make it go away. But unfortunately, these things take time.

Connor: But if it isn’t physical, how bad did it have to be for you to know you had to go to the hospital?

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Um… it was very bad. It hurt very intensely on the inside. Even if people couldn’t see it on the outside, the — the pain was unbearable. And I — I just wanted it to stop.

Adam: Un-alive yourself? Where did you hear that?

Connor: [ Sighs ] It’s what they call it online. When someone doesn’t want to live anymore, they un-alive themselves. You can’t use other words for it without getting into trouble on some sites.

Chelsea: Okay, well, I-I-I do not love that you’re seeing those kinds of things online. But, um — ugh. But…yes. There was a moment when my head told me the pain would go away if I wasn’t here anymore. Not because there aren’t wonderful things in my life — because there are. It’s just the pain was so heavy, I couldn’t feel those wonderful things through all the sadness. It was a scary, terrible time for me. I was feeling desperate and alone with nowhere to turn. But the point is, I don’t feel that way anymore. And I promise I am going to work so hard so I never feel that way again.

Connor: I’ll help you, mom.

Chelsea: [ Exhales sharply ]

Sally: I hope you know that your belief in me means everything. Which is why I am going to turn down your generous offer.

Nick: [ Chuckles ] Are you sure? I know you told chloe you were gonna consider it.

Sally: As I said before, I do not want anyone thinking, including myself, that if my business succeeds —

Nick: When your business succeeds.

Sally: [ Sighs ] Okay.

When my business succeeds, it’s only because nick newman bankrolled me. Or because you fought for me to keep my job at newman media. Or even because adam newman made his girlfriend ceo. I want it to be because I did it myself. Because chloe and I are just that good. Does that make sense?

Nick: Yeah. And as much as I want to be by your side to help you, I cannot wait to see you triumphantly rise to the top.

Sally: Well, maybe you can be by my side…in a different way. If that’s what you want.

Nick: Yeah. Um… every time I’m with you, it never fails to make me want to spend more time with you.

Sally: Well…then I guess the question becomes… what are we, really? You know, are we just friends? Or is this going somewhere?

Nick: I sure hope so.

Jack: I appreciate you telling me the truth. It gives the family, the company time to prepare for whatever tucker has up his sleeve.

Diane: Well, good. I’m — I’m hoping you can outsmart him.

Jack: How much have you told kyle about this situation?

Diane: Well, I told him about jeremy’s release and my fears on that end. And thankfully, he vowed to protect me. But that’s exactly why I didn’t tell him about tucker’s demands for jabot’s financials or my plan to try to trap him. I was scared that kyle, being the protective son that he is, would — would try to confront tucker immediately.

Jack: Yeah, you’re probably right about that.

Diane: Yeah, and I refuse to expose him to that level of threat.

Jack: Last thing I want to do is put my son in a dangerous situation. Look, I have to ask. Did you have a hand in putting this man behind bars?

Diane: Yes. I made a deal — immunity for turning him in anonymously.

Jack: I suppose you did the right thing.

Diane: [ Sighs ]

Jack: I mean, he couldn’t commit any more crimes. He… you extricated yourself from the situation.

Diane: Jack, I have told you, and I have told kyle. Nobody else can know. And your sister is not helping things by doing everything she can to put stark on me.

Jack: I’ve talked to ashley. I’ve told her to back off.

Diane: Well, obviously, she didn’t listen. Ho. Ho. Ho.

Sally: [ Exhales heavily ] This feels right.

Sally: Depends on what we are celebrating.

Tucker: Yes, actually. Some deep soul searching. I admit that I asked diane to update me on ashley, but the reason is I missed her and, uh, I wanted to know if maybe she’d found someone else. Then I noticed how easily diane had slipped back in with the abbotts, so I figured maybe i could do it, too.

Phyllis: Uh-huh.

Ashley: Honey, I know that you and chance love each other. You love each other so much. I think if he could forgive you, you — you could get past this.

Abby: I don’t know. I don’t know if this is something that he can just get past…

Ashley: Step by step, okay? The first thing you’re gonna have to do is change your relationship with devon, honey. You’re gonna have to. I mean, just because he’s dominic’s biological father doesn’t mean the two of you have to be this close. I’m assuming that’s what got you in this situation, right?

Abby: So now I have to lose devon, as well?

Ashley: [ Sighs ] Well, what do you think? I mean, if chance does decide to forgive you and you do want to save your marriage, then he has every right to not want you and devon to be so close, honey, don’t you think?

Abby: Yeah. Yeah. I guess you’re right.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door slams ]

Jack: Good to see you, abby.

Abby: Hi, uncle jack.

Jack: Ashley, could I speak to you alone for a moment?

Ashley: I’m in the middle of something with my daughter.

Abby: No, mom, it’s fine. I actually I have to get home to dominic.

Ashley: Are you sure?

Abby: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love you.

Ashley: Honey, I love you so much. It’s gonna be okay.

Abby: Thank you for the talk. Bye, uncle jack.

Ashley: I’ll call you, honey.

[ Door opens ]

Ashley: Oh, what? Are you here riding to diane’s rescue once again?

Jack: I thought I made it clear you were to leave diane alone.

Ashley: And just because you said it doesn’t mean I’m going to do it.

Adam: Connor, your mom and I — we didn’t share this with you to scare you. We shared it with you because honesty is important.

Chelsea: And, you know, I — I regret keeping the fact that i was johnny’s biological mom a secret for so long. Moving forward, I’m not gonna keep anything from you. And we can talk about all of this today, tomorrow as long as you want. No shame, no secrets. We can talk about anything.

Adam: Yeah. And no matter what, we are a family. And we’re gonna get through this together. And for whatever reason, if you don’t want to talk to us about it, you can talk to sharon, you can talk to one of your teachers at school. But for no reason do you need to feel ashamed or embarrassed for your mother because she certainly isn’T.

Chelsea: That’s right. And in order to get through this, I have to face it head on. I have an illness and I am getting treatment and I am getting better. When you really need to sleep.

Nick: Thought you were coming in the shower. What’s got you so caught up?

Sally: I had an idea. It just came to me — a new business model. Look.

Nick: This is great. I mean, this is it. This is your gift. It’s your vision.

Sally: You really like it?

Nick: I do. Even if I can’t help you bring it to life, I cannot wait to see you and chloe run with this.

Sally: This is where I want to be.

Connor: Is it okay with you, dad, if I spend the night here with mom? I want to stay close so she knows she’s not alone and never has to be.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Yes, of course you can. I’ll grab a few of your things from the ranch and I will drop them back off here.

Chelsea: Bye.

[ Door opens ]

Connor: I don’t know what I’d do if something really bad ever happened to you.

Chelsea: Ohh. You don’t have to worry about that because that is never gonna happen. And I’m so happy you want to stay here. I’m so excited to spend time with you. But making me feel less alone is not your job. It’s my job to take care of you. And you know what?

Connor: What?

Chelsea: It’s the best job in the whole world.

Connor: [ Laughs ]

Chelsea: And I promise I am gonna work with my doctors and I am gonna get better. Because the two of us — we have a lifetime of things to do together.

Connor: [ Chuckles ]

Chelsea: Ahh.

[ Sighs ]

Tucker: Ah, finally. Thanks for the hospitality.

Phyllis: You are welcome.

Diane: Well, look at the two of you with your heads together.

Tucker: I was just leaving.

Diane: Oh, not on my account, I hope. As far as I’m concerned, you can collude all you want, but I’ve got to say — you’re not going to win.

Phyllis: You’re very confident, diane.

Diane: Yes, well, jack and kyle are in my corner, so no matter who or what you throw at me, they’ve got my back. So you and you and nikki and ashley are no match for us. So you better be prepared to come with everything you’ve got because this has officially turned into a war.

Jack: I cannot believe your audacity. I told you this is about one thing — protecting my son and preserving a relationship that means the world to kyle.

Ashley: Means the world to kyle or means the world to you?

Jack: Oh, come on.

Ashley: No. You know who diane is, and you know what she’s capable of. And yet, time and time again, we find out more things that she’s done. She runs to you. She says she’s the victim. She worms her way right back into your good graces, and you go out of your way to protect her again.

Jack: That’s a bit of an exaggeration, don’t you think?

Ashley: No, I don’t think that. I believe it’s an accurate observation, jack, because I’m watching you and you’re constantly going to battle for her. And I know you’re not taking into consideration the depth of her illegal activities.

Jack: You’ve got a lot of nerve, considering how tucker is using you right now, coercing you into doing his bidding. Did you know that he asked diane to pass along jabot financial information? Yeah, and he turned on her when she didn’t comply. That’s what this is about, Ashley. I guess your considerable charms didn’t extricate that particular secret from Tucker. He is looking for weaknesses in Jabot right now so that he can exploit them…the same way he is exploiting your hatred toward Diane. Whatever Tucker McCall is really after, it appears that you are his unwitting accomplice.

Adam: Mm. How lucky I am I that I am here at the precise moment when the two of you are meeting up for — what, drinks? Nice dinner? You guys fueling up for another round of hot sex?

Sally: Okay. That was out of line.

Nick: Watch your mouth.

Adam: Well, unlike you, I’m not in the mood to plaster a smile on my face. I’m just keeping it real.

Sally: Okay, I know you have a lot on your plate right now, but that’s no excuse to be crude, okay? After our last conversation, i thought maybe we were in a good place, that maybe we actually got to the point where we could be friends.

Adam: Friends? Come on, sally. Let’s not play that game. You know what you are to me. And I know that whatever you think my brother here has to offer that you’re bound to be disappointed in every possible way.

Nick: Just stop, alright? You’re making a fool out of yourself.

Adam: [ Scoffs ] Yeah. I’m the fool. Alright, nick.

Sally: It was of your own doing. So don’t you dare just sit there and blame nick and me.

Adam: “Nick and me.” Wow, you say that like it’s a real thing.

Sally: Okay, whatever it is or isn’t, it’s none of your business. And you saw to that. So stop blaming everyone but yourself.

Allie: Noah.

Noah: Allie. Hey. This is a nice surprise. How’s your day been?

Allie: Um… not as I expected.

Noah: Problem at the lab?

Allie: No.

Noah: What’s going on?

Allie: [ Sighs ] I went to the club earlier to find you, and I saw you with your ex in your arms.

Noah: [ Sighs ]

[ Drawer opens ]

[ Knock on door ]

Sharon: Chelsea? It’s sharon and billy.

Chelsea: Hey, guys. Come on in.

Sharon: Hi. We met up at your hotel suite, and we packed up all of your things. And the front desk billed the card that you have on file. So, as far as that goes, it’s all taken care of.

Chelsea: [ Chuckles ]

Billy: Don’t even need to think about that place anymore. All done.

Chelsea: Thank you so much. That is so kind, considering you’ve already done so much for me. I just, you know, can’t imagine stepping foot in that hotel right now.

Billy: Well, you don’t have to.

Chelsea: And, sharon, you shouldn’t be dealing with my stuff. You should be helping mariah and tessa get settled at the tack house.

Sharon: No, they’re doing great. I did run over there right after mariah texted me, and it turned out they didn’t have that much work for me to do anyway. And besides, I had to come back here and see you again because i forgot to give you these.

Chelsea: Oh.

Billy: Chelsea, you okay?

Sharon: Are you having second thoughts? Is this not where you want to be?

Chelsea: No. No. This place is amazing. This is an incredible place to live, especially on such short notice, and I’m so grateful. It’s just, you know, here I am, pulling up stakes yet again.

Chelsea: No, no. You didn’t say or do anything wrong. You both have been incredible and supportive.

[ Sighs ] I’m just — I’m just juggling a lot of emotions right now.

Sharon: Well, that’s entirely appropriate.

Billy: I mean, it’d be weird if you weren’T.

Chelsea: [ Breathes deeply ] I guess it’s just hard for me to accept that at this phase of my life I don’t have a safe haven. So, here I am in a brand-new apartment after spending three days in the psych ward for trying to end my life.

Sharon: Well, I hope that this place will become your haven, that over time, it’ll truly start to feel like your home.

Chelsea: I just haven’t had a home in so long…not since i lived at the penthouse with adam and connor. And then I had the aneurysm, and everything went wrong.

Billy: Well, let’s not ruminate on that. Let’s look at this as the beginning of a healthy, wonderful future.

Chelsea: Well, before I start rebuilding my life, I have decided I need to tell connor the truth. And that’s really overwhelming.

Billy: You know, chels, you don’t need to do that right now if you don’t want to. I mean, maybe it makes more sense to kind of get settled in here a little bit.

Chelsea: No, I want to tell him today because I don’t want to hide anything from my son. And, actually, dr. Malone agrees with me.

Sharon: Did the doctor give you any ideas on how to get into that with connor?

Chelsea: Yeah. I mean, she did actually, and it kind of make me nervous.

Sharon: How so?

Chelsea: Well, she said, you know, we don’t know how he’s gonna react. It could be shock, guilt, anger. We just — we don’t know how this is gonna go.

Sharon: Okay, well, you know that you don’t have to do this until you’re ready.

Chelsea: I told dr. Malone that I can be strong, and I am gonna be, for connor’s sake.

Sharon: Well, you have to do what’s best for yourself also.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] I think I’ve decided that this is what’s best for all of us. I need to take a deep breath, look my son in the eye, and tell him what happened, explain this crisis I went through. I just hope that adam understands. We need to be a united front, and he doesn’t want me to tell him yet. He’s worried about how connor will react, and so am I. I’m just worried the longer we wait, the more pain, the more confusion it will cause him.

Billy: Well, you both know that I’m — I’m not a fan of adam’S. But I do know that he loves his son. And I believe you’ll do what’s right for both connor and you.

Sharon: He absolutely will. Give adam the chance to prove that to you.

Chelsea: I will.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Billy: Uh, I’m gonna need to go. Something I need to take care of. I’ll check in with you later, okay?

Chelsea: Thank you, billy, for everything.

Billy: Absolutely. See ya.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ]

Chelsea: Can you stay a little longer?

Sharon: Well, I was hoping that you would let me hang around because I think there’s something that we need to do right away.

Sally: You couldn’t trust me. So you broke up with me and you claimed it was for my own good. Do you know how humiliated i felt?

Adam: And I have apologized for that repeatedly, sally.

Sally: And yet somehow you’re the wounded party. I’m sorry. It doesn’t work like that.

Nick: Well, it does for a narcissist. Everything always happens to you. It’s never because of you. Does that sound about right?

Adam: Don’t get your hopes up thinking he will make you happy, sally. He will never love you ’cause he can’T. ‘Cause the only woman he’s ever loved is sharon. You’re just the latest substitute.

Noah: Audra told me that back in london she — she had been pregnant with our baby… and she had a miscarriage. It was the first I’d heard of it.

Allie: [ Sighs ] How awful for her to go through something like that. And for you being blindsided.

Noah: Yeah, it hit pretty hard.

Allie: I’m so sorry. Why didn’t audra say anything until now?

Noah: When she got pregnant, our relationship was kind of falling apart, and she wanted to wait until we were back into a good place to share the happy news, but that time never came. Things just kept deteriorating. And then… and then I moved out without telling her. I just walked away, didn’t look back.

Allie: Is that…when it happened?

Noah: She said it was the first night I didn’t come home. It was over, just like our relationship.

[ Sighs ]

Allie: Oh, noah. I’m so sorry.

Noah: She never intended on telling me, but I guess being here and, you know, seeing me brought back up all those painful memories. You know, they just came pouring out of her, and it killed me that I wasn’t there for her. It killed me that she had to suffer through all that alone, so — so I hugged her. I wanted to comfort her, and… that’s what you walked in on.

Billy: Hi.

Lily: Hello.

Billy: Thank you for coming to meet me.

Lily: Sure.

Billy: I know how busy you’ve been, so I appreciate it.

Lily: No, it’s fine. I needed the fresh air. So, how’s chelsea? I’m assuming that you spent most of the day with her since she seems to be your main focus lately.

Billy: Yeah. Um, I know I’ve been really vague about what’s been happening…and, uh, the reasoning behind it. And I know that’s been very frustrating for you.

Lily: Well, yeah. I mean, I have so little information.

Billy: Right, which is why i wanted to talk to you — to try and, you know, clear the air a little bit. Um, chelsea not only gave me the go-ahead, but she thinks it’s important that I talk to you about this, as well. And, uh, I’m hoping that once i do, you’ll better understand why I devoted so much of my time to supporting her.

Lily: Okay. So, what happened?

Billy: [ Sighs ] Chelsea tried to take her own life.

Sharon: There. Doesn’t it feel good to have your clothes hung up, your things put away?

Chelsea: Definitely.

Sharon: I just want you to feel like you’re settling in and making the place your own. But I know when you bring in all of your personal items, then it’s gonna really feel like home.

Chelsea: I’m sure you’re right.

Sharon: Which brings me to the most important item.

Chelsea: Oh. [ Chuckles ] Thank you, sharon. This is the most important item, not just for me, but for when connor gets here.

Sharon: Do you know when he’ll be here?

Chelsea: When he’s done with practice. I’m counting the minutes.

[ Exhales sharply ] I guess I should reach out to adam now.

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Adam: Chelsea. Hey, um, can you give me one second?

[ Stool clatters ] Hey. I’m glad you called. I went to the hospital earlier, but they said that you had already been discharged.

Chelsea: I told you you didn’t have to come back for me. I already had a ride lined up.

Adam: Right. I know. Sharon and billy. Just wanted to make sure you were okay.

Chelsea: I am. Thanks. I’m feeling better, um… thanks to sharon, actually.

Adam: Oh?

Chelsea: Mariah and tessa are moving out of the apartment above the coffeehouse. Sharon’s offered to rent it to me.

Adam: Ah, well, that’s great. That sounds like the perfect solution. I’m glad you decided to take her up on that.

Chelsea: Yeah, me too.

Adam: Well, if there’s anything that I can do. Maybe I can grab some groceries or something and help you with that.

Chelsea: Well, you had mentioned that connor would be happy to see me. I was hoping you could bring him by after you pick him up.

Adam: Sure. I can do that.

Chelsea: Thanks. I appreciate it.

Adam: I just — I hope that you’ve, uh, taken the time to think about what I said earlier.

Chelsea: I have, and I spoke to my therapist about it, adam. I haven’t changed my mind.

Adam: I see.

Chelsea: I’m ready to tell connor the truth. And I hope you can support my decision. Will you please do that for me?

Adam: [ Sighs ] I was taking my antidepressant daily,

Adam: Look, chelsea, I really wish that we could discuss this further.

Chelsea: Adam, I’m not gonna change my mind. I have to do this — and as soon as possible.

Adam: Why the rush?

Chelsea: Because I’m not gonna lie to my son, only to risk him finding out the truth down the line in some other way. No. He has to know what happened to me. He has to know that I’m better and that I’m getting help and that I am gonna be alright.

Adam: Okay. Well, you — you make some good points.

Chelsea: Thank you.

Adam: But I am still worried about connor’s reaction. I think there’s a chance that he might blame himself for this.

Chelsea: I took everything you said to heart. I did. I spoke to dr. Malone at length about it, but she agrees that it’s the right thing to do, to be honest with our son.

Adam: Exactly how honest are we talking about?

Chelsea: Well, dr. Malone advised me to use language a young boy connor’s age can understand, to allow him to express his emotions and to have the conversation in a safe space. I know you want to be a part of this, adam, and I want you to as well. Let’s do this now, together, as a family. Can you do that for me?

Adam: Alright.

Chelsea: Thank you.

Adam: I will, uh, go get him, and, uh, I’ll bring him by. We’ll see you soon.

Lily: Oh, my god. Poor chelsea.

Billy: Yeah, I know.

Lily: I mean, I know that you told me she needed help and that you felt compassion because you knew what it was like being trapped in a dark place, but i didn’t think it was this bad.

Billy: Well, I think it all just kind of, uh, you know, compounded and, uh — when rey passed away. You know, they’d become really close friends.

Lily: No. Yeah. I remember how devastated she was at the time.

Billy: Yeah, and I think she was leaning on him a little bit too much. And then, you know, after he passed away, she — she didn’t feel like she had anyone. And when things got bad, she started to question everything, question every decision that she was making, and had no one to turn to. And slowly that started to eat away at her and the walls started to cave in and the only thing that she could focus on was the pain and her own despair.

Lily: Yeah, but not even connor? I mean, knowing that he needed her couldn’t help pull her out of her grief?

Billy: No, it seems like it would, but like I said, she — she couldn’t focus on anything but the pain. She didn’t see a way out, and she wanted it to end.

Lily: [ Sighs ] Wow. I mean, to feel that lost and disconnected from everything that you love and care about. I mean, when I was in prison, I definitely was depressed. You know? I was overwhelmed by guilt over the role that I played in hilary and her baby’s death. And then my dad — he moved upstate so that he could visit often, and I was so thankful because he was my lifeline. I mean, I wasn’t suicidal. It didn’t get to that point for me.

Billy: Well, I’m really glad that he was there to support you.

Lily: Yeah, me too. But, I mean, for chelsea, that night, to be in that place, after the year that she had — I mean, that’s serious.

Billy: Yeah. I’m just grateful you understand.

Lily: Yeah. I mean, I can see why you felt compelled to be there for her. But I’m sure it was overwhelming for you at times.

Billy: I wasn’t focused on my own burden, you know? That wasn’t — it wasn’t about me.

Lily: No, but helping someone through a crisis that severe is huge. I mean, that had to have taken a toll on you emotionally.

Billy: Yeah. I mean, I suppose. Yeah.

Lily: So then why wouldn’t you have told me this from the beginning? Like, why wouldn’t you let me be the person that you turned to?

Chelsea: No. Thank you so much. As much as I’ve appreciated your company and all of your encouragement, I should probably spend some time alone to mentally prepare for this visit with connor. Plus, I should probably jump in the shower and change my clothes to look presentable for my son.

Billy: I think the short story is, is that it wasn’t mine to share with you. You know, like you just said, this has been… it’s just very serious, you know? And, um, it’s delicate and it’s chelsea’s story and it’s just extremely personal. I mean, she didn’t even tell adam about it until today. She also insisted that I tell you the truth.

Lily: Yeah, well, i appreciate hearing it. So, where has chelsea been all this time?

Billy: Well, for the last 72 hours, she’s been in a psychiatric facility. She was released today, and she’s now staying at the apartment above crimson lights.

Lily: With mariah and tessa?

Billy: No. They — they moved to the ranch. I guess they’re staying in the tack house. They needed a little bit more space. But, uh, sharon hadn’t advertised the apartment yet, and, um, chelsea said yes. She’s grateful for the opportunity to stay there. And then sharon and I went to the grand phoenix to go collect her stuff and then just brought it to her.

Lily: Wow. Well, I guess you and sharon are covering all the bases.

Billy: Why do you say it like that?

Lily: What do you mean?

Billy: Sounds like you got a little edge in your voice, like there’s something you’re upset about.

Lily: Why would I be upset?

Billy: There it is again. Lily, just tell me what’s wrong.

Allie: How did you feel learning all this from audra?

Noah: I just — I can’t help but feel guilty for how it all went down, though. If I hadn’t left, if I just had been there, she wouldn’t have been all alone through this. And then I think maybe the stress of our relationship is what caused the miscarriage. And I’m having all these conflicting emotions about almost being a father.

Allie: Yeah, I imagine it’s — it’s almost like seeing an alternate universe unfold — right? — Where you stayed in london…became a dad. Must be mind-blowing to realize how different life might have been.

Noah: I’m trying not to dwell on it too much. But it’s just… it’s strange, how this fateful thing happened and I had no idea. And meanwhile, audra — she’s been carrying around this huge secret and trying to come to terms with the loss.

Allie: Has the news made you see her in a different way? Why give your family just any eggs

Nick: Alright, this is a big moment. It’s the last piece.

Sally: It’s all yours.

Nick: I don’t know. I know this is your favorite appetizer. I do not want to make things weird. Yup. You took it.

Sally: Geez. I guess that’s what I get for not taking latin.

Nick: Yeah, I was forced to take a semester of that in boarding school. I don’t recommend it. It’s very boring.

Sally: You went to boarding school? Of course you did. I could totally see you roaming around a 200-year-old campus in new england wearing something appropriately preppy.

Nick: [ Chuckles ] Actually, it was in switzerland.

Sally: Seriously? God, that’s amazing. The skiing, the chocolate.

[ Both laugh ]

Nick: Nah, it wasn’t for me. There were so many rules. I wasn’t great at following most of them. So, one day I just snuck off campus, flew home, and told my parents I was never going back. I was 16, so they couldn’t make me, so I just transferred to gc high.

Sally: There’s no place like home, huh?

Nick: Even though we have our less-than-harmonious moments, I really love my family. I like being around them.

Sally: Well, that serves as the perfect segue way into the promise that you made me — ’cause I am gonna hold you to it.

Nick: Hmm. What was that again?

Sally: You were gonna tell me what you want out of life since last time we talked I told you what I wanted.

Nick: Alright. Um… I have everything I want. Almost.

Sally: Seriously? Who says that and actually means it?

Nick: Me.

I’m serious. I found my purpose at newman. I spent many years there second-guessing myself, trying to, you know, figure out my place. But that’s all behind me.

Sally: So, when you stopped fighting it…

Nick: I’m happy with my position and the work.

Sally: Hmm. Nice.

Nick: I have four incredible kids. I have very solid relationships with phyllis and sharon, who will always be a part of my life.

Sally: Actually, I admire how you and sharon still value and care about each other. I mean, that’s the way it should be — right? — Especially when there’s family involved. I bet noah and faith really appreciate it.

Nick: I want to make sure you know that I’m not pining away for sharon like adam suggested. I mean, emotionally, I am not anywhere close to that.

Sally: Okay. Well, then, just out of curiosity, where are you, emotionally speaking?

Sharon: Hey there.

Adam: How’s it going?

Sharon: It’s going well.

Connor: Is mom meeting us here?

Adam: Uh, she is upstairs.

Sharon: Your mom is renting the apartment on the second floor here. Mariah and tessa used to live there, but they have moved on to a bigger space.

Connor: I never liked mom staying in a hotel. I’m glad she won’t be there anymore.

Adam: Well, me too. This will be a much better place for your mother.

Sharon: I think so, too. And there’s a second bedroom for when you come to stay with her.

Connor: Cool.

Adam: Hey, why don’t you, uh, go grab a treat for your mother at the counter?

Connor: I’d like to bring her something.

Adam: Alright. Go for it.

[ Sighs ] Thank you for letting chelsea move in. You really came through for her.

Sharon: I was happy to do it. In fact, when you called earlier, I was upstairs talking to her.

Adam: Yeah?

Sharon: I hope you don’t mind me weighing in on connor’s visit today. I know that you have concerns about connor learning the truth, and I was glad to know that you came around and saw chelsea’s point of view. For what it’s worth, I think she’s ready for this.

Adam: Well, I appreciate your perspective, but it’s not gonna make this any easier.

Connor: Hey, dad, I know what I want to get.

Sharon: Oh, okay. Let me get that wrapped up for her.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ]

Noah: Nothing that I have learned has changed the way i see audra. I feel terrible that she had to go through this on her own and that she was too upset and too proud to let me know at the time, but…it doesn’t change who she was before then or how we treated each other. Our relationship, it was — it was toxic.

Allie: Right. You’ve said that.

Noah: It needed to end for both of our sakes. If I can go back, I would have handled the break-up in a more mature, direct way, but that is the only thing that I would change. It was painful for me to think about our past, and now knowing that she had a baby and lost it, it hurts even more. But it’s the past. My present and my future is right here with you.

Allie: I’m really glad we talked this over.

Noah: Me too.

Nick: So, that’s the part that’s missing for me — a personal life. I meant it when I said I have almost everything I want. But it’d be nice to have someone to share it with. Whoa. Okay. Uh, please don’t take that as, like, some loaded comment, alright? I have no expectations when it comes to us. I, uh — I just wanted to be honest, you know, with you, like you were with me.

Sally: Well, thank you, nick.

Billy: I mean, if you’re still upset about me helping chelsea in this time —

Lily: Look, what matters right now is, how is she doing? Is she okay? Do you think that she might try something like this again?

Billy: I sure as hell hope not. Sharon and her doctors said that the first 72 hours are the most crucial.

Lily: Yeah. I’ve heard that, too.

Billy: Which is why they admitted chelsea immediately — so she could undergo an evaluation and intense therapy.

Lily: So, how is she doing now?

Billy: She seems better. She seems to be in a better headspace.

Lily: Good. That’s good.

Billy: So, now that I’ve answered your questions, do you mind answering some of mine? Like, now that I’ve been able to explain to you where I’ve been the last few days and the circumstances behind it, with me supporting chelsea in this critical time, is that — is that gonna be a problem for the two of us?

Lily: Wait a second. 72 hours ago? That was when adam found you on the roof of the hotel with chelsea.

Billy: Yeah. When I left you at the club, I went to the roof. I thought she was gonna be there, and — and she was. And I’m just glad that I found her when I did. I mean, I — I literally talked her off the ledge.

Lily: Wait, so, you haven’t just supported her during this time. You saved her life.

[ Knock on door ]

Chelsea: It’s open.

[ Door opens ] Hey, guys.

Connor: Hey, mom.

Chelsea: Well, come on in.

Adam: We, uh, just stopped downstairs so connor could grab some of those caramel brownies you love so much.

Chelsea: Well, that is so sweet. Thank you. I am so happy to see you.

Chelsea: [ Exhales sharply ]

Connor: I’ve missed you so much. I was scared. I didn’t know what happened or why you were avoiding me.

Adam: Hey, chelsea. How are you? You look like you’re getting stronger.

Chelsea: Thank you. I feel stronger. And I spoke to dr. Malone earlier. She’s authorizing my release today.

Adam: Are you sure you’re ready for that?

Chelsea: Yeah. I haven’t had any thoughts about hurting myself, and we both feel the crisis is over.

Adam: Um, I assume that you’ve spoken with her about setting up a treatment plan?

Chelsea: Mm-hmm. I’ll be joining a support group, and I’ll be seeing her on an outpatient basis. So…

[ Bag zips ] …Everything’s been set up.

Adam: Well, that’s great. You know, maybe I can help you find someplace to live. You know, given the circumstances, I don’t think the grand phoenix is the greatest idea.

Chelsea: You don’t have to worry about me. I’ll figure that out. For now, I’m just focused on seeing connor.

Adam: Mm-hmm. Yes, he is, uh, very eager to see you.

Chelsea: It won’t be an easy conversation, explaining to him why I’m here and what I went through.

Adam: Well, we don’t have to, uh, worry about any of that right now, okay?

Chelsea: Actually, adam, we do.

Billy: She’s being released already? That’s really good news.

Sharon: Yeah. Chelsea doctor says that she’s getting stronger and she’s not a danger to herself or anyone else. So, she will have one last inpatient therapy session, and then she’ll be given the all-clear.

Billy: [ Sighs ] Okay. Well, that’s good. I’m really happy to hear that. Although I don’t — I don’t think it’s a good idea that she goes back to the grand phoenix. I think she needs to, you know, go someplace where she can start something fresh, you know?

Sharon: I agree. And I’ve already come up with a solution.

Sally: I invite you to brainstorm, and you bring me a bucket? And it is not even filled with muffins or a nice pumpkin chai.

Chloe: Miles left it in the sandbox. But we are going to fill it with positive things until it is overflowing with goodness.

Sally: You first.

Chloe: Okay. Um, first, we’re going to fill it with money…

[ Coins clatter ] …That we will be making very soon. And now our résumés will gleam now that we can add ceo and coo to our list of accomplishments.

Sally: And we have a wealth of knowledge and experience as fashion creators.

Chloe: Oh, not to mention all of the people that have worked for us. Our leadership skills are through the roof.

Sally: Well, our biggest problem now is figuring out what direction we choose next.

Chloe: I was thinking the same thing. I mean, the sky’s the limit.

Sally: Fashion, media. I mean, there’s nothing we can’t do.

Chloe: All we need to do is summon our good energy and maybe…

Sally: Good recruiters will come out of the woodworks and show some interest?

Chloe: No. No, we are going to create our own opportunity because we have the right ingredients. We just need that special sauce that brings it all together.

Sally: Okay, so, what do we do until we find this magical concoction?

Chloe: You know, we — we heat things up, you know, spice it up. You know, I mean, I’m running out of cooking analogies, but i think you know what I mean.

Sally: Not really.

Chloe: Okay, we just need to walk into a room and act like we own the place, right? I mean, we just got to take the lead.

Sally: Yeah, I mean, I’m certainly on board with that.

Chloe: Yeah, we can do it. And, you know, I mean, it also wouldn’t hurt if you would just accept nick’s offer to help us out.

Sally: Look, chloe, I already told you —

Chloe: Hey, nick. Come on over.

Chelsea: Dr. Malone and i both think it’s important that connor knows the truth about why I had to come here.

Adam: Eventually, chelsea.

Chelsea: Why not now?

Adam: I don’t think you should be taking that on just a few days after what happened, i mean, especially when you don’t even know where you’re gonna be living, chelsea.

Chelsea: It just feels like you’re making excuses as to why we shouldn’t tell our son the truth.

Adam: I just think it’s a little premature to discuss the details of an incident you have barely started working through yourself, chelsea. I mean, you know connor. He’s a very sensitive kid. This is gonna have a profound effect on him.

Chelsea: Connor is also a really smart kid, adam. And he’s gonna know there’s more to the story than what you’ve been telling him.

Adam: Well, I didn’t — i didn’t know what to tell him, chelsea. Sharon and billy kept me in the dark for so long.

Chelsea: They did that because they thought that’s what was best for me.

Adam: Okay. And right now, I’m just asking you to think about connor and what’s best for him. Alice loves the scent of gain so much,

Chloe: Okay, while my friend and former boss is too proud to ask for a favor, I am infinitely more practical. We need work. And not just for the financial reasons, but for a sense of purpose. Sharon: I’ve already run it by her therapist, and she’s on board. So, as long as it’s okay with chelsea, of course.

Billy: [ Sighs ] You know, sharon, it’s really big of you. I mean, it’s one thing to help someone out in a jam, but you have gone above and beyond for someone that you’ve had a challenging relationship with in the past. Not everyone would stick their neck out like that.

Sharon: Well, I had to think about it a lot, believe me. But there are two things that led me to my decision. One is, I know rey would approve. And I just know in my own heart it’s the right thing to do. I hope chelsea feels the same way.

Chelsea: I am thinking about connor…and how he’s probably spent the past few days imagining all sorts of things have happened to me.

Adam: Well, I told him that you were sick. That was the truth. We don’t have to rush into telling him all the details, chelsea. That’s all that I’m saying.

Chelsea: Okay. But connor has to be a part of this. He has to know what happened, and he has to hear it from me. The last thing I want is him trying to interpret a bunch of half-truths or him, you know, seeing the way people look at me behind my back. Or, worse, what if he hears some gossiping about what really happened, adam? He’ll wonder why he didn’t tell him, or, worse, he will blame himself. No, we have to arm him with the truth. And my therapist agreed with me.

Adam: I really wish I had been a part of that conversation, chelsea.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ]

Adam: Okay, maybe we could talk to your therapist together on how to approach connor. We could talk about what to say to him, what to avoid, and find out if waiting is the best option.

Chelsea: [ Breathes deeply ] What I’m hearing you say is that you’ve made up your mind and you want to delay telling our son the truth.

Adam: Chelsea, I just don’t want to upset him more than he’s already been, okay? You haven’t been with him. You haven’t seen him. I have been trying to reassure him, but he’s been kicking himself for how he treated you over this whole johnny thing. He thinks he’s pushed you away. And I’m telling you, if for one second he thinks he pushed you this far, it worries me.

[ Knock on door ]

Dr. Malone: Hello.

Adam: Good to see you, dr. Malone.

Dr. Malone: Good to see you, too. Chelsea, you ready?

Chelsea: Yeah. Um… please just respect my decision on this.

Adam: Alright. Well, I’ll come back later to pick you up, and I want to help you with the transition.

Chelsea: No, someone else volunteered. Sharon. And, um, I think billy might come, too.

Adam: Well, I’m so happy that people are stepping up to help you, but, um, just consider what I said. Excuse me. I’m just gonna grab my coat. Alright. [ Clears throat ] You didn’t live this strong, this long to get put

Dr. Malone: You seem unsettled. Tell me how things went with adam.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Confusing. He doesn’t think we should tell connor the truth about what happened. He says it’s too soon and we need to wait.

Dr. Malone: Until?

Chelsea: Until I’m stronger, I guess?

[ Sighs ] I was just so confident about my decision after we spoke. But then I spoke to adam, and now I —

[ Sighs ] I don’t know. I mean, he’s — he’s a great father. I know he’s coming from a place of care and love and concern. I know he wants what’s best for our son.

Dr. Malone: Well, frankly, chelsea, what matters to me is how you feel. And, second, what’s best for connor. Do you think you’re in a strong enough position to handle this conversation with him?

Chelsea: I do. I know it’s gonna be one of the hardest conversations I’ve ever had with him, but he needs to hear the truth, and he needs to hear it from me… so I can eliminate any concern and so I can show him that I’m okay and, most importantly, that I can show him that this is nobody’s fault, especially not his.

Dr. Malone: Then the conversation we should be having is, what’s the best way to do that?

Billy: My initial thought is that chelsea would welcome the offer. But I can’t assume, you know? I just need to continue to take my cues from chelsea, what she needs, what she wants.

Sharon: Well, her doctor may have approved the release, but it’s still only been 72 hours since she was on the verge of taking her own life

Billy: Yeah.

Sharon: So, this is a very delicate time. Chelsea has a few more obstacles to navigate coming up here, and I don’t want to add to that.

Billy: Mm. Um…

Sharon: Hi, adam.

Adam: Hey. I, uh — I just wanted to let you know that I just saw chelsea.

Sharon: Oh, so you know that she’s being released today.

Adam: I do. I wanted to get your take on something we discussed. I can come back when you’re free.

Sharon: Well, we’ve already discussed that we need to work together as a team for chelsea’s sake, and it’s particularly important right now as she’s preparing to leave the facility.

Billy: I agree. I think we’re all on the same side here.

Adam: You’re right. Uh, I feel confused because the last time that I talked to chelsea, we agreed that we were gonna wait to tell connor what happened, and now, all of a sudden, she has gotten it in her head that she needs to tell him what happened right now, even though nothing in her life is settled. She doesn’t even have a place to live.

Sharon: Oh, well, actually, i was going to offer her the apartment upstairs.

Adam: Well, that’s very generous of you, sharon. I hope she accepts that. But what is, uh, really bothering me about all this is how it’s going to affect connor — because he’s trying to figure out who he is and where he fits in, in this world. And now he has all this other baggage on top of dealing with, uh, the confusion of finding out that chelsea is johnny’s biological mother.

Billy: So, what are you saying, adam? You don’t think that chelsea should tell connor?

Adam: I feel it’s best that we wait. But you have the experience and the degree. So, sharon, what do you think?

Sharon: What is her therapist saying?

Adam: [ Sighs ] I want your unbiased take, please.

Sharon: Okay, well, this is a difficult situation for everyone. Um, you know? But if chelsea feels like she’s ready to take this step, I think we need to support that choice. I think it’s important to be open and honest with connor. He’s going to take his cue on how to react based on your emotional state, so it’s important to remain positive and be consistent.

Adam: [ Sighs ]

Billy: I agree.

Sharon: What about you, adam?

Adam: I’d, uh, like to have a word with billy…alone.

Chloe: Okay, when sally came to town, like any true star, she just wanted to shine. And she didn’t allow for the fact that there is room for one more star in the galaxy, but she regrets getting off on the wrong foot with summer. Sally has changed. She has learned to focus her energies in a positive direction. And I know that summer doesn’t trust her, but I do. And summer trusts me. And she is the creative director of the hottest fashion house in town. So, all you need to do is convince summer that sally needs a second chance.

Sally: Chloe. Dial it back to zero now.

Chloe: [ Chuckles nervously ]

Sally: [ Sighs ] Ever leave your clothes in the dryer

Sally: Chloe, I told you we aren’t doing this.

Chloe: What? The worst thing he can say is no.

Sally: I don’t want anyone’s help. And, look, I’m sorry that she put you on the spot like that. I would never ask you to intervene and try and get us a job with summer at marchetti.

Ever. And it’s nothing against summer, of course. You know, I would be very lucky to work with her, but chloe was right. I was awful to her and to kyle, and I really feel terrible about that.

Nick: I know you do.

Chloe: But you also know that we would be an asset to marchetti. And with sally’s unique sense of style and my finger in the zeitgeist, I mean, we just — we just mix all of that up, and we could turn it into gold.

Nick: I have no doubt about that. And if I was in charge, I would hire you two in a second. But I don’t interfere in summer’s business, not even to ask for a favor. That’s not the nature of our relationship.

Sally: I am glad about that.

Chloe: Okay, well, you know, it was worth a try.

Nick: I do, however, have what I think is a better idea. If you are, in fact, interested in getting back into the fashion space, how about a loan from me? Then you can start your own label.

Dr. Malone: I realize that adam has concerns, and I’m in no way dismissing them. But I think it’s important to talk to a child connor’s age to help him understand what happened.

Chelsea: It’s a lot to digest.

Dr. Malone: Connor’s probably very confused right now and uncertain about what might be wrong. He may have created scenarios in his head that are causing him to feel fear or anger or guilt.

Chelsea: Well, adam’s afraid he’s gonna blame himself for what I did, that he’ll feel responsible because of the way he reacted when he found out johnny was his half-brother.

Dr. Malone: It’s not uncommon for children in this situation to feel that they’ve done something wrong or that they’re to blame. You need to make it clear to connor that he’s not at fault in any way. No one is. His mom had a difficult time, and she felt badly enough where she couldn’t see a way out of the pain. You don’t need to flood him with information. And I think it’s important for connor and for you to open up the dialogue. Make sure you talk to him in a safe environment for him, where he feels comfortable and free enough to express whatever emotions he’s having, even if it’s anger.

Billy: It seems like you got something you want to get off your chest. Why don’t you go ahead?

Adam: I wanted to say thank you, billy. I’m immensely grateful to you for stopping chelsea from stepping off that rooftop. You saved connor’s mother’s life, and I will never forget that.

Billy: Sounds like there’s a “but” on the horizon.

Adam: What does your continued involvement in chelsea’s recovery really mean? What is it you’re after, billy? Dancing is everything.

Billy: I want chelsea to be better. I’m gonna go a step further. I want her to be happy. Is that okay with you?

Adam: [ Scoffs ] Is this a joke to you, billy?

Billy: I don’t expect you to understand this, but when I got chelsea off of that ledge, i made a promise to her to be there for her, to help her in any way that she needed. And I plan to make good on that promise.

Adam: How does lily feel about this dedication to chelsea, billy?

Billy: Right. Well, that — and among many other things — is none of your business. In fact, the only thing that you should be focusing on is your son and helping him.

Adam: You just — it seems like you have a lot of influence on chelsea right now. I mean, she’s in a vulnerable state.

Billy: I hope you’re not implying that I’m leading her down the wrong direction.

Adam: No, what I think you did is told her exactly what she wanted to hear, that she should throw all of this at connor with no thought how this will affect him. Just as long as it makes chelsea feel better, you know, bring it on.

Billy: Well, you’re wrong. And, look, I’m not going to presume to know what’s best in this situation. In fact, it’s uncharted territory for me, as well. And I get it. You want to be cautious. And what you and chelsea decide to do with your son and how you plan on handling that is none of my business. But I will say this. I think we need to take our cues from dr. Malone. She’s the professional, and she’s the only one that is equipped to give advice.

[ Door opens ]

Adam: [ Sighs ]

Chloe: This is an extraordinary offer. And I know I speak for sally when I say —

Sally: Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts, but we have to decline.

Chloe: No, we don’T. Sally and her wacky sense of humor.

Sally: Okay, while your offer is incredibly generous, I’m afraid that we’re gonna have to speak about this internally and then we can circle back around. I’m sure you understand.

Nick: Yeah. Of course.

Chloe: Okay, sally, um, you know, maybe we should talk about this in private a bit more and —

[ Cellphone pings ] You got to be kidding me. I just — [ Sighs ] Uh, just a moment. My sitter is having issues. Um, I — let me just deal with this. If you make any decisions without consulting me first, I am going to be very disappointed.

Sally: [ Clears throat ]

Nick: So, this is a first, uh, being in a position where i feel like I just offered to do someone a favor and then immediately feel like I need to apologize.

Sally: Well, I am not used to people going out of their way to do me a favor, so forgive my awkwardness.

Nick: No, I’m sorry for putting you in that position. It’s just, chloe was talking, the idea just kind of came to me. It’s not like I have some grand plan to make it up to you for my sister mistakenly firing you.

Sally: So, then what is this?

Nick: It’s a loan. That’s it. The kind where I give you money, you give it back, not in the form of kisses — well, maybe kiss– no, no, no. No kisses. No hugs. No coupons for hugs. Just cash.

Sally: This just sounds like a colossally bad idea.

Nick: All of the best adventures of my life have started off with those exact words.

Sally: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: Alright, I’ll tell you what. While you consider that offer, maybe think about another one.

Sally: Okay. I’m afraid to ask.

Nick: Drinks. You and me just hanging out, not talking about me offering you money to start your own business.

Sally: Okay, so, if we don’t talk about that, then what’s left?

Nick: I mean, there’s just so many fascinating topics. Let’s start with one of my favorites — me.

Sally: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: Look, the last time we were together, you told me about where you wanted to be in life. I think it’s time I told you what I was thinking.

Sally: I would like that very much.

Chelsea: Thank you, dr. Malone, for everything you’ve done.

Dr. Malone: You’re the one who’s done the hard work, chelsea.

Chelsea: I’m definitely in a better headspace.

Dr. Malone: Can you tell me a little bit about where you are right now?

Chelsea: Um, definitely thinking more clearly. Um, I was in such turmoil for so long, and I was taking it out on the people that were close to me, especially my friend chloe.

Dr. Malone: She’s a good friend?

Chelsea: Yeah, she’s the best. You know? We definitely hit a rough patch because of my issues, but i think I should tell her the truth, too.

Dr. Malone: Sounds like a good idea. I’m sure she’ll give you plenty of love and support.

Chelsea: I hope so.

Dr. Malone: You’ve done a lot of good work, chelsea. You should feel proud of the commitment that you made to address the root causes of what brought you here. It won’t happen overnight. You’ll have rough days ahead. We all do. But just know you’re strong enough to make it through. And reach out for help when you need it.

Chelsea: I will. I promise.

Dr. Malone: Good. And call me once you’ve had a chance to talk to connor so we can discuss how it went.

Chelsea: Okay. I definitely will.

Sharon: Hey. Oh, sorry. I didn’t realize you were still in your meeting.

Billy: Hey.

Chelsea: Okay.

Billy: Thank you, doctor.

Chelsea: Hey there. I didn’t know you’d be coming.

Billy: Where else would I be as a core member of your support crew?

Chelsea: [ Laughs ]

Billy: And as such, I — i just want to let you know that there’s absolutely no rush. If you feel like you need more time to catch your breath a little bit or spend a few more days in here, you do whatever’s right for you.

Chelsea: No, I’m — I’m ready. I’m ready to go.

Billy: Okay. Let’s get out of here then.

Chelsea: There’s just one slight problem. Um, I don’t have anywhere to go. I haven’t had time to make arrangements, and I don’t want to go back to the hotel for obvious reasons.

Billy: Yeah, of course.

Chelsea: Maybe you could drop me off somewhere that, like, has internet. I could get online and find someplace to stay.

Sharon: Um, let’s go do that.

Sally: [ Sighs ]

Chloe: I know you’re having reservations, but, oh, my god, sally, nick wants us to succeed. I mean, he’s giving us a chance to make our dreams a reality. And it’s not free money, which i know could make you feel like there might be strings attached. It’s a loan that we could pay back as soon as humanly possible.

Sally: Yes, I know. Nick said the same thing. I just don’t want to be in anyone’s debt, okay? And — and things with nick and me are still a little blurry. Something might be happening.

Chloe: Okay. Is that what you want?

Sally: [ Sighs ] What if it doesn’t work out?

Chloe: Then it doesn’t work out. There are no guarantees in life, but it’s not like nick is just going to walk away and demand the money back.

Sally: That’s not the point.

Chloe: You need to take your personal feelings out of this and look at it for what it is. It’s a business transaction.

Sally: I learned the hard way that it is not that simple. Look at what happened at newman media. My past involvement with adam tainted my entire tenure there as ceo, at least in victoria’s eyes.

Chloe: Yeah, because she hates adam. This is a totally different situation.

Sally: No. No, I have to keep my personal life separate from our professional future, and it’s gonna be a heck of a lot easier if I am not involved with our banker.

Chloe: Okay, will you just work with me here, okay? This kind of opportunity comes once in a lifetime, if you are very, very lucky. And we will make sure that you’re comfortable with this and make the most out of it. Just please don’t say no. Not yet. Promise me. Just promise me that you’ll at least think about it.

Dr. Malone: Oh, didn’t expect to see you back here.

Adam: Um, I, uh — I came to see chelsea. I had some second thoughts about our earlier conversation.

Dr. Malone: She’s been discharged. She left with sharon and billy.

Adam: Of course.

Dr. Malone: She’s lucky to have so much support. She’s gonna need a lot of that in the coming months.

Adam: Well, I promise she will get it.

Sharon: How you feeling?

Chelsea: Um, I’m not sure.

[ Chuckles ] But it is really nice to be back here.

Sharon: Um, would you like some tea?

Chelsea: Sure. I’d love a cup. I’m just gonna focus on trying to find myself a place to rent, at least short term.

Sharon: Oh, um, billy and i had a conversation about this earlier. That’s what the looks on our faces were that you saw before. And I also went over this with dr. Malone.

Billy: We both thought that going back to the grand phoenix probably wouldn’t be the best idea, and so sharon had a great idea that she ran by me.

Sharon: Um, tessa and mariah were living upstairs for a little while, but they’ve decided to move to the tack house on the newman ranch, just to give them more space.

Chelsea: Are babies on the horizon?

Sharon: Well, fingers crossed. They have begun the adoption process.

Chelsea: Oh, wow. That’s wonderful news.

Sharon: Yeah, which means, um, the apartment upstairs is now up for rent, if you’re interested. It’s really cute. And, um, it has a lot of light, and, um, it’s pretty comfortable. I happen to think it’s a fabulous location.

Billy: Chelsea?

Chelsea: I don’t understand. Why would you offer that to me after everything I’ve done to you?

Sharon: I offered because i want to do this for you. And, you know, there’s room for connor, too. And you have the best coffeehouse in town downstairs.

Chelsea: I don’t know what to say.

Billy: Say yes. Do it for the cinnamon buns.

Sharon: Do it for yourself.

Chelsea: Thank you. Yes. [ Chuckles ] Thank you so much. Who says you have to spend more on skincare

Adam: I am aware that i played a pivotal role in getting you off track. And because I feel responsible for so much of your pain, I’m invested in just trying to get you some relief.

Chelsea: So maybe this isn’t about me at all. Maybe this is just the guilt talking.

Sally: It’s like you’re an addiction. It’s not healthy. It’s toxic. And letting you in, letting you get to me was a huge mistake.

Chloe: You did this to yourself. You pushed too hard. Your desperate pursuit made sally run in the opposite direction, and now she finally has room in her life for good things.

Adam: Look, there has been a lot of conflict between us lately, and I think it would be good if we got to the root cause of it.

Nick: [ Sighs ] Look, if you’re gonna bring up sally, just don’T.

Adam: We need to talk about it, nick.

Nick: Why?

Adam: Because I’m still in love with sally.

Adam: And I want you to know that I am truly, deeply sorry for lying to you, for hurting you…and for loving you.

Sally: Loving me?

Adam: If I never would have fallen in love with you, we wouldn’t be where we are now, sally. Okay, I need you to know, as much as I treasure the memories of all the joyous times we spent together, I would have given it all up if it meant that I never caused you a moment of pain.

Sally: I could never regret anything that gave me so much… and felt so good.

Adam: I know you may think you have feelings for nick, but he’s just a way to help you forget what you and I have.

Sally: So, this is about nick.

Adam: No. It’s — no, it’s not. What — what I meant to say is —

Sally: No, I know — I know what you meant because you — you — you said it. You opened your mouth. The words came out. So, thank you for being honest. I mean, everybody knows your history with your brother. I mean, is this really even about me, or is this just about beating nick? He can get some good job at newman, but you could stop him from getting me? Did you mean anything that you just said? Or is this some power move to best nick and win me back like some kind of prize?

Adam: [ Sighs ]

[ Door opens ]

Chelsea: So, this is my place now.

Billy: Just waiting on some personal touches.

Chelsea: You both have been so unbelievably kind to me, and you have every reason not to be. I mean, sharon, our history? The word “messy” doesn’t even begin to explain it. And, billy —

Billy: We don’t need to worry about that right now. The only thing that matters is that we’re here for you, now and into the future.

Sharon: And I would stay and give you a full tour, but I just got a text from mariah and she needs me at the tack house to help her with some unpacking. So, um, chelsea, welcome home.

Chelsea: Thank you, sharon. That means more to me than you know.

Sharon: Alright. Text me if you need anything.

Chelsea: Okay.

Billy: Thanks.

[ Door opens ]

Chelsea: Wow. I don’t even know what to say.

Billy: Well, that’s odd because that was never a problem when we were podcasting.

Chelsea: [ Chuckles ] I honestly don’t know if I could have gotten through this without you.

Billy: I do. You would have because you’re strong. But I am happy to be here for you.

Chelsea: God, I feel like i need to, like, send lily a gift or something. I’m taking up all your time. I’m taking you away from her, from your work.

Billy: That’s okay. She knows that you need the attention right now. She’ll understand.

Sharon: Does she know the whole story about me?

Billy: [ Sighs ] No, I wasn’t sure how much you wanted to share, so I — I kept it pretty vague.

Chelsea: So she doesn’t really understand. She doesn’t know how bad it got. I don’t want her to get the wrong idea, billy, so [Sighs] You need to tell lily the truth.

Adam: Thank you.

Nick: [ Sighs ]

Adam: Well, look who it is. My, uh, wonderful brother. Bartender, hey, uh, drinks are on him.

Nick: [ Chuckles ]

Adam: It’s the least you could do. Why don’t you pull up a stool? I’m sure we could find something to talk about.

Nick: [ Sighs ] I’m meeting someone.

Adam: Oh. “Someone”? I can see that, uh, uneasy look in your eyes. Let me guess who it is.

Abby: No, don’t say that. We can’t be over. No. I love you too much. And what happened with devon — it was just a moment of weakness on my part.

Chance: It wasn’T. It was more than that.

Abby: No, it was — it was a mistake. It was a mistake and it was entirely my fault and I am sorry. I am sorry. I was hurt and confused about the distance that had grown between us.

Chance: Abby, what you did was a reaction to a bigger issue that we have.

Abby: Yes. Yes. My — my expectations. I promise I will — I will stop being so judgmental about your job. I will put aside my idealistic fantasy about having this perfect marriage. We can work on it.

Chance: Abby, we can’t because the truth is, we’re not working anymore. And it’s finally time that you face that — because I have.

Tucker: Come in. I know. I’m raring to go. I’m excited.

Audra: [ Chuckles ]

Tucker: And I can’t wait to hear your new ideas on our move on chancellor-winters.

Audra: Uh, they haven’t made a final decision about the ipo, but I know jill is in favor of doing it.

Tucker: Okay, that’s good news.

Audra: There are still issues. I mean, even if they do go ahead, you don’t have the advantage newman had.

Tucker: Oh, don’t sell yourself short. You’ve been an excellent mole.

Audra: Uh, I prefer liaison. I can feed you information, but I’m not going to get any access to any shares of the stock. And nate knows vastly more about the inner workings of the company than I do. He could still give newman an upper hand.

Tucker: Yes, but we do have a plan.

Audra: Right.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ] Your optimism is invigorating. So, what about jabot? Did you get any intel on their financials?

Audra: Not yet.

Tucker: Uh-huh.

[ Clicks tongue ] I’ve given you plenty of time to do that.

[ Sighs ] Is there a problem? Something I don’t know about? Because I’ve done my part to pave the way for this strategy. Should all be coming together by now.

Diane: I got your ominous text — polite, yet vaguely threatening.

Ashley: You have no idea.

Diane: Well, I have a job that you pulled me away from to rush on over here. So, what is it that you need to discuss so urgently?

[ Door closes ]

[ Sighs ] I see you have your pack of hyenas lying in wait for me. So much for a fair fight.

Nikki: Who says we’re here for a fight?

Phyllis: We just want to have a pleasant conversation with you.

Diane: Oh, okay. Sure. Um, what’s the topic? Oh. Me.

Phyllis: Uh, well, yeah, you. Uh, but the other topic is convicted felon jeremy stark.

Nikki: See, we know that you moved money around the world for him illegally. The fact that you didn’t go to prison alongside him is really quite the mystery.

Ashley: It is. And now that he’s about to be released from prison, I bet he’s thinking, “gee, I wonder whatever happened to my old accomplice, diane jenkins?”

Diane: Is it possible that you ladies are actually getting worse at this? I mean, I almost have to laugh at the absurdity of your latest ploy.

Nikki: Hey, good idea. Why don’t you laugh yourself right out of town?

Diane: Uh-huh. I don’t know where you’re getting your story from, but the only connection I had to jeremy stark was that we went out on a couple of dates. The idea that he — wait, what was it? — That I was moving money illegally around the world for him is ridiculous. Oh! Wait. Tucker told you this story, didn’t he? Ashley: Well, what difference does it make where it came from, as long as it’s the truth?

Diane: Well, tucker has clearly decided he doesn’t have use for me anymore. He no longer needs me to tell him where you are or who you’re dating because he has a direct line to you now. And I — I guess you’re falling for his manipulations again. I mean, haven’t you learned your lesson?

Ashley: Wow, you’ve got so much nerve. Diane, you keep making the same mistakes over and over and over again.

Diane: Let me lay this out for you. Tucker is desperately trying to impress you, so he’s feeding you what you want to hear, what all of you want to hear — that i have some nebulous connection to a white collar criminal. Ohh! I bet you couldn’t wait to gobble up this story to scare me. But I don’t scare easily. This latest attempt was pathetic, and I think we’re done now.

Phyllis: We’re not done. What makes you think we don’t have proof to your crimes?

Lily: Amanda. Hi. It’s lily. Um, I thought you were gonna send me the contracts for the recording studio that we’re gonna buy, but I don’t see anything in my inbox. So, I hate to nudge you on this, but we have to get moving. Um, so, anyway, just —

[ Computer dings ] Oh, wait. I think I — yep, I see an e-mail from you right now. So, you know what? I’m gonna read this, and I’ll get back to you. Thank you. A letter of resignation?

Abby: I can’t believe that i blew up our relationship over a lapse in judgment that I don’t even understand. I mean, if I could turn back the clock, if I could make it so it never happened, you have to believe me that I would.

Chance: I’m sure you have regrets, abby, but it doesn’t make a difference.

Abby: How can you say that?

Chance: Abby, this wouldn’t have happened if you two didn’t have feelings for each other.

Abby: What?

Chance: If you didn’t act on them now, you would have eventually.

Abby: No, no, that’s not true, okay? This isn’t some sort of suppressed, forbidden passion, okay? I was upset. I was upset because you didn’t come home that night.

Chance: Okay, look, I will admit this is not entirely your fault, okay? Like I said, I sensed this. I knew it was coming. Maybe it was inevitable but i just refused to let myself face the fact, buried myself in work. I avoided any kind of difficult conversation with you until you ended up in devon’s arms.

Abby: No. No. I am not gonna accept that. There is no forethought with this. I don’t know why you think that.

Chance: Abby, I have laid out all the evidence. I’m not sure why you can’t accept it.

Abby: No. See, you are trying to connect dots that don’t exist. You are trying to make this make sense in your mind, but you are not seeing things clearly.

Chance: Abby, you are not seeing things clearly. There have been signs that our marriage had been faltering since the day I got back from spain. My inability to connect, my preoccupation with what happened over there. I mean, I was having trouble bonding with dominic. I ignored all that, and I threw myself into work.

Abby: Because you were traumatized, not because there was a problem in our relationship.

Chance: No, the ptsd divided us, and that divide has just been growing since. In a way, I am just as much to blame as you are. You were the one that kept fighting for us. You were the one that urged me to go to therapy, the one that helped me work out my feelings. I don’t know. Maybe you got tired of vying for my love and attention.

Abby: I hate that you are so noble and logical about this. No. I am the one to blame, okay? This is my fault, not yours.

Chance: Look, I’m not trying to make you feel guilty. I’m just trying to get you to face the reality.

Abby: What reality? Are you really suggesting that our marriage is over? Who says you have to spend more on skincare

Chance: I just think we’d be prolonging the inevitable if we try to repair things.

Abby: No. No, no, it is not inevitable. We have the power to change our circumstances, to change our future. And I am not ready to give up on you, not yet, not after everything we’ve been through.

Chance: Abby, at your core, you want something different, someone different.

Abby: No. No, the only person that I want is you.

Chance: No, I am fundamentally different from the things that you want. Okay? And I’ve tried. And I can’t be the man you desire. And sticking around to learn that lesson again…is just gonna cause more pain. I can’t do it. I think it’s better for both of us if we just make a clean break.

Abby: [ Sniffles ]

[ Voice breaking ] I couldn’t possibly feel more heartache and pain than I feel right now. What are you suggesting?

Chance: I think you know.

Abby: So, what, you’re just gonna leave? You’re gonna walk out on your family? On our son? What about dominic?

Lily: “This is to inform you that I am resigning from my position as general counsel of chancellor-winters.”

[ Sighs ] “I’m flying back to virginia this afternoon and will not be returning to genoa city. I deeply appreciate how flexible you have been with imani and me these past months, as we’ve needed to travel back and forth to deal with my mother’s medical issues. But now I have to rethink my work situation and my life so i can be close to my family. I know it’s a hard time for chancellor-winters, and I am committed to working remotely until you find my replacement. I’ve made a short list of possible candidates. Thank you, lily, for having faith in me, for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. Please know I was truly happy here while it lasted.”

Devon: Hello?

Lily: Uh, I just got a formal resignation letter from amanda. Did you know about this?

Devon: Uh, unfortunately, yeah.

Abby: Well, what the hell is going on?

Tucker: If I’m gonna execute what I want to do, I need a partner who’s running on all cylinders and laser-focused. Your focus seems split recently.

Audra: I don’t know what you mean.

Tucker: [ Laughs ] Really? Does this have anything to do with noah newman?

Audra: [ Sighs ]

Tucker: Hmm? Your ex becoming an issue here?

Audra: Absolutely not.

Tucker: Okay. And yet there appears to be a problem, and I don’t like problems. And I don’t like that my plan seems to have stalled on both fronts.

Audra: I’m not the one whose personal life is getting in the way of your goals.

Tucker: And what do you mean by that?

Audra: I mean your motives are personal, okay? That’s a recipe for disaster with plans of this magnitude. I mean, it makes the whole thing unstable, as far as I’m concerned, and it’s skewed your thinking.

Tucker: How so?

Audra: You’re not being realistic, okay? It’s too ambitious. You want too much.

Nikki: I should remind you that we have the full force of victor’s P.I. Team behind us, so we don’t have to rely solely on what someone tells us.

Diane: [ Scoffs ] You know, victor’s P.I.S don’t intimidate me. And neither do you. You’ve got nothing. And you know how I know that? This conversation. Because if you had any proof, you wouldn’t be just warning me. You’d be using it.

Phyllis: Well, what makes you think we’re not using it?

Diane: Oh, I suppose you can go to the feds with this ridiculous hearsay. Hey, good luck with that. They will probably laugh you right out of the office, not just because you look like three busybodies with some gossip, but because this man you’re referring to — I knew him years ago. And the statute of limitations on supposed crimes is long past.

Ashley: That’s so interesting that you know the statute of limitations on crimes you didn’t even commit.

Diane: [ Scoffs ] Your plan has no legs, and there is nothing you can use to frighten me or force me to abandon my son for a second time. So, go ahead. Have at it. Make up all the evidence against me you want. It’s pointless.

Phyllis: Well, you know, that’s the beauty of our strategy, diane, is we actually don’t have to say or do anything to, um, frighten you or intimidate you. Jeremy stark will do that all on his own. He’s been in prison for six years. He’s had a lot of time to think, think, “why is diane not here?” Or taylor, right? Why are you a free bird? Maybe he wonders if you were the one who ratted him out.

Ashley: Oh, I bet he’s so pissed off. I mean, he’s just dwelling on your betrayal.

Nikki: Are you sure you want to stick around genoa city? Because you’ll just be a sitting target. It would be a shame if someone were to reach out to him and tell him exactly where you are.

Diane: [ Scoffs ] If you’re on medicare,

Diane: So, this is what it’s come to. You are threatening to send a criminal to menace me.

Ashley: You know, I will acknowledge that maybe we got the facts wrong. I mean, maybe jeremy stark would actually welcome the opportunity to reunite with his former lover.

Phyllis: Yeah, I mean, he’s been in prison for six long years.

Ashley: Yeah.

Phyllis: I’m sure he wants companionship. I mean, his standards are probably really low.

Nikki: I mean, maybe he’ll be willing to overlook the fact that you helped put him away, but maybe not.

Diane: You all act like I’m so diabolical, but I have never attempted to send a convicted felon after any of you.

Phyllis: No, no, no, no, no, no. Uh, you framed me for felony.

Nikki: And you let me be charged for your “murder.”

Ashley: You know, when you think about it, I mean, you sending stark to prison is kind of progress for you, isn’t it? ‘Cause he is an actual criminal.

Diane: How pathetic are all of your lives that you have nothing better to do than to try to destroy mine?

Phyllis: Payback is a bitch, isn’t it?

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

Nikki: And we know that you would do the same thing to us if you had the opportunity.

Ashley: Absolutely. I mean, it’s only a matter of time before you revert back to your old ways. Come on, diane.

Phyllis: Actually, you know what? I’m gonna disagree about you saying “revert” because it sort of implies that she’s changed, and I know for a fact she hasn’T.

Ashley: Oh.

Diane: Oh, really? If that’s true, phyllis, then do you really want to test me when you know what I’m capable of?

Phyllis: Oh, my goodness. Diane, are you threatening me?

Diane: No, no, no. It’s just an observation. Just because I’m capable of doing something, I might not do it. I’ve decided not to be vengeful and petty like the three of you. I’ve left the person that I used to be in the past. And you can believe me or not, but I have reformed.

Ashley: Oh, my god! So you keep saying over and over again, and maybe kyle and jack buy it for now, but we don’t!

Diane: I regret the things I’ve done! Okay? I mean, come on! Surely the three of you can relate to that. Is there one person in this room that hasn’t done something regrettable or questionable or despicable?

Phyllis: Yes, I actually have. I actually have, I’ll admit. But all of those things that i did are because of you.

Nikki: [ Chuckles ] That’s true for all of us.

Diane: And yet the three of you are allowed to repent and be forgiven, whereas I’m not. It’s an unfair double standard that I have been forced to live with and accept. So, fine, don’t forgive me. But if you’re being honest with yourself, you know that since I’ve returned to genoa city, i have not done one thing to cause any of you any trouble.

Phyllis: That’s completely untrue. I almost got fired because you lost your mind.

Diane: Yeah, but you didn’T. And since then, I have tried to extend an olive branch to you several times. And the two of you I just try to steer clear of.

Ashley: That’s not true. You’ve practically moved into my family home.

Nikki: And, uh, may I say that I appreciate you having the common sense to stay away from the ranch.

Diane: You know, the three of you have — have really tried to make my life miserable. And — and I have to admit that you have succeeded to a certain extent. You know, it would probably be a lot easier for me to just go away. But there is one reason that i don’t — my son. He is the reason that I can put up with all of your attacks. His support means more to me than any of these allegations you come up with.

Phyllis: Okay. Because you love your son does not make you a saint.

Diane: Oh, well, you should know.

Phyllis: I have to actually give you a compliment, though, that you’ve been able to have him on your side this entire time. It’s admirable. But eventually we’re gonna come up with proof, and he won’t be able to deny it anymore.

Diane: You leave kyle out of this.

Phyllis: Really?

Diane: Yeah.

Phyllis: What are you gonna do? Kyle’s my family. Kyle is their family. And the thing about the three of us is we protect our own.

Diane: So do I. I have tried to ignore you, to turn the other cheek. But I can only be pushed so far before it’s too far. Do you hear me? I am better than the three of you put together when it comes to playing dirty. So, why don’t you just back off? Leave me the hell alone! Or I will turn the tables on you so fast your heads will spin.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door slams ]

Nikki: Wow.

Tucker: Are you forgetting that optimism is the lifeblood of success?

Audra: But it has to be paired with practicality.

Tucker: And initiative. Hmm? You know I never shy away from a challenge. And ambition. Ambition — whew. That’s a turn-on for me.

[ Chuckles ] I thought you felt the same way.

Audra: I do.

Tucker: Hmm. Then why is it so wrong for me to want to reconnect with devon and ashley?

Audra: I mean, there’s nothing wrong with that specifically. It’s the rest of the plan that’s the overshoot. You want to acquire both chancellor-winters and jabot for mccall, with devon running chancellor and ashley running jabot.

Tucker: That’s very good. Yes, that’s an accurate and very succinct summation of my agenda. Yes. My son and the love of my life working with me.

Audra: Actually, they’d be working for you.

Tucker: That’s a minor technicality. They’d still have plenty of autonomy. Be a mutually beneficial partnership.

Audra: I doubt they’ll see it that way.

Tucker: Oh, well, I can be very persuasive.

[ Clears throat ] I can say, “united, we’ll, uh — we’ll be unstoppable and we’ll be bonded in the most powerful force on earth.”

Audra: [ Chuckles ] That argument might have flown in the ashram, but out here in the real world, it’s laughable.

Tucker: [ Clears throat ] When did you become such a cynic?

Audra: I’m a realist, okay? Your scheme relies on a series of actions I have never believed you could pull off. To get what you want, both devon and ashley would have to turn against their families and agree to work with you. Do you really think that’s possible?

Tucker: I’m so disappointed in your lack of faith.

Audra: [ Sighs ] Okay.

Tucker: You obviously don’t know me very well.

Chance: Of course I still want to be a part of dominic’s life. I’m his father. Well, one of his fathers. And I know it’s taken me a really long time and a lot of effort to figure out how to be that, but I don’t want to lose the connection I made with him. So, we can still be a family, just a different kind.

Abby: I hate how rational you can be about all of this. I mean, the way you talk about our son so matter-of-factly. I know that I hurt you, that you’re angry. So why don’t you just yell at me or blame me or do something, do something to show me that you have some feelings about this at all?

Chance: You’re gonna blame me now for being rational? Abby, I am trying to be as understanding as possible, given the circumstances.

Abby: [ Sniffles ]

Chance: One thing I can’t bring myself to do right now is comfort you.

Abby: I’m sorry.

[ Voice breaking ] I am so sorry that I broke us.

[ Sniffles ] I don’t even know what to say.

Lily: Uh, yeah. You think? First of all, I have so many questions. I mean, how long did you know about this? And why didn’t you warn me?

Phyllis: Well, there she was, the real diane. She was in there all along, just waiting to reveal herself. I’m sure it was a relief to her, getting the claws out.

Ashley: Yeah. It must be exhausting hiding your true self under all that smarmy niceness.

Phyllis: So boring, pretending to be a do-gooder.

Ashley: Well, that’s something you’ll never have to worry about, right?

Phyllis: True, true.

Nikki: You know, despite all of her bravado, I think she is sweating bullets. I mean, clearly the thought of jeremy stark coming after her is terrifying to her.

Ashley: Uh-huh. She’s close to the breaking point.

Phyllis: Yeah, definitely.

Ashley: Right?

Phyllis: We have to keep on applying pressure and find out what else tucker knows.

Nikki: And if we can really trust him because even though i think diane is bluffing, we need to make sure that we don’t fall into one of tucker’s traps.

Tucker: Oh, diane. Frankly, I just — I don’t care what happens to you.

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

Tucker: And I find it hypocritical that you think i should, given that you’re the one who reneged on your part of our agreement.

Diane: I didn’t have access to jabot’s information.

Tucker: I don’t buy that excuse.

Diane: Ugh!

Tucker: You’re protecting kyle and jack, plain and simple.

Diane: You know, you and i need to work something out because you don’t want to cross me.

Tucker: If you’re upset that I passed on some disparaging information, it’s probably because the information is disparaging. I just reported the facts. It’s neither here nor there. The — the main priority of my life right now is to make ashley happy. And the one thing that seems to make that possible is you going away.

Diane: Oh. Do you know how your darling ashley wants to get me to leave? By threatening to make jeremy stark think I turned him in. Do you know what kind of danger that puts me and my family in?

Tucker: I know. I would be nervous, too. That’s why I think you ought to disappear. I — I’m — go off the grid. I think you’d be relieved to just vanish.

Diane: No. You have all underestimated me. The more you push, the more determined I am to fight to hold on to my family. So don’t count on me going anywhere.

Phyllis: Yeah, what’s the urgency?

Ashley: I wanted you both to know that it turns out it was a good idea to befriend tucker.

Nikki: Do tell.

Ashley: He told me that he actually found out that diane was committing crimes in los angeles.

Phyllis: I knew she was committing crimes.

Nikki: I suspected as much.

Phyllis: Please tell me that these crimes are felonies.

Ashley: She was moving cash for a man by the name of jeremy stark, a high-profile criminal who’s actually doing time in federal prison. Tucker told me all sorts of information about the two of them.

Phyllis: This is amazing. This is so much better than staring at a tennis bracelet.

Nikki: Stark? Why is that thing familiar?

Ashley: Probably because you read it on a news feed this morning. Mr. Stark is being released from prison very soon.

Kyle: Mom? You look preoccupied.

Diane: Um, kyle, can we talk?

Kyle: Is something wrong?

Summer: Jack, hi.

Jack: What a relief. Hey, speaking of lunch, I haven’t ordered yet. You care to join me?

Summer: Well, I was just going to grab some takeout, but, um, sure.

Jack: Well, great.

Summer: Why not?

Jack: Gives me a chance to tell you how proud I am of you.

Summer: Any reason in particular?

Jack: Yeah, you are really shining at marchetti.

Summer: Well, thanks, jack. I have to give some of the credit to kyle, though. He has been a huge help.

Jack: The two of you are a terrific team. It just pleases me so much to see you so in sync.

Jack: Let me guess, a big sticking point is diane.

Summer: I got to know, jack. How do you really feel about this latest revelation?

Jack: In a word, exhausted.

Devon: I don’t like seeing your suitcases, amanda.

Amanda: Well, I am not thrilled about it, either. I’m sorry. I thought that I would be gone before you got back. I’m just packing up the last little bit of my things. If I forgot anything, I will send for it.

Devon: I think you’re moving too fast.

Amanda: I don’t think that there’s any reason to stick around. And just so you know, I will be resigning from chancellor-winters. I can’t see us working side-by-side under the circumstances.

Devon: You don’t have to quit.

Amanda: I was going to return to virginia anyway. My family needs me.

Devon: I need you here.

Amanda: Don’t worry. Okay? I’ll find a replacement for you and lily before I resign.

Devon: I don’t care about the job. I’m not worried about that, okay? I care about you, and I just want an opportunity to talk to you to see if we can’t work this out.

Ashley: [ Sighs ] I tried to tell him, and he shut me down. He also told me to back off.

Nikki: Oh, my god, he’s still trying to protect her?

Ashley: Yes.

Phyllis: I can’t believe this. He keeps on buying this “poor, pitiful me” act.

Ashley: He thinks that he’s protecting kyle and harrison from being hurt by diane, but he doesn’t understand that the way to do that is to not back off, because she needs to be exposed for who and what she is. We’ve got to nail her this time.

Jack: To be perfectly honest, I want to continue to give diane the benefit of the doubt, but believe that she’s left everything in L.A. Behind her, that it was a means to an end, and that end was being reunited with her son, but given these latest revelations, it becomes increasingly difficult to buy.

Summer: I can’t do it anymore. I can’t trust her. Believe me, I have tried for kyle’s sake and for harrison’s sake. I mean, I gave her a job.

Jack: Yeah.

Summer: I tried to let her earn her place in harrison’s life and in his heart, but I’ve hit a wall with her. I guess you could say that I am just as exhausted as you are.

Jack: You know what? I think we’re all so tired of all of this, including diane.

Summer: [ Sighs ] You know, even if we could trust that she’s put all of her criminal misdeeds behind her, who’s to say that it’s not going to catch up with her eventually? And when it does, what kind of danger does that pose to kyle?

Kyle: Okay, mom, what is it?

Diane: [ Scoffs ] I hate that “what now?” Tone. I’m worried that I lost some of the ground that I gained with you and the abbotts when you learned what I did in los angeles, what I had to do in order to survive. I feel like I’m back at square one.

Kyle: I already told you —

Diane: I know you told me you understand why I did what I did, but I still feel like it’s changed the dynamic between us. I mean, look at the way you’re speaking to me right now, like you’re just — like you’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Kyle: Maybe you should look at this latest confession from my point of view. It’s only natural that this news would make us feel guarded when it comes to you and your past. Yet, even after hearing about it, I’ve again given you the benefit of the doubt.

Diane: And I appreciate that, but I —

Kyle: No. No, no, no, no. No buts. Frankly, I think you’re the one being impatient and a bit unreasonable. You should expect us to have a little less trust in you now.

Diane: [ Sighs ] I — I honestly don’t know if I can live like this, always being on trial with all of you. How can we expect to ever truly be a family if there’s always this undercurrent of suspicion?

Kyle: Okay, what exactly are you saying?

Diane: Maybe I don’t have the strength to live with this constant scrutiny and uncertainty. Maybe it’s time for me to go. Maybe I should’ve never returned.

Amanda: I don’t think that there’s anything left to talk about. I’ve taken a moment to breathe since we last spoke and process the shock of what me and chance walked in on, and I see the situation more clearly now.

Devon: Well, I appreciate that ’cause it’s the truth.

Amanda: But at any time from that first kiss, anything that followed, you could’ve stopped yourself, but you didn’T. And I’ve been thinking about that a lot. Why didn’t either one of you pull back? What would possibly carry you through to the ultimate betrayal? And I’ve come up with the only possible conclusion. Because you are a good man, devon. You have a big heart and you are a thoughtful friend and you’ve been all of those things to me, and I really — when I came home from virginia, I thought that you would be those things for me now.

Devon: And I’m sorry that I let you down.

Amanda: Yeah, but I have to believe that someone as judicious as you would not go past the point of no return unless there were true feelings involved. So I just — I have to face the fact that there is more of a connection between you and abby, maybe even more than you are willing to admit.

Chance: Yeah, it was a late night last night. I didn’t really get much sleep. Appreciate the coffee, though.

Sharon: Hey, do you mind if I sit down?

Sharon: I remember how exhausted rey was on some of his all-nighters, and, um, early in the relationship, I would get jealous. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I — I never thought that rey would cheat on me. I would just get jealous of the job. You know, rey was so committed to his work. I just felt like sometimes I was in second place.

Chance: Yeah. Yeah, abby feels the same way sometimes. Especially lately.

Sharon: You know, the other night, I happened to see what seemed like the tail end of an argument with you and abby.

Chance: Yeah. Yeah, that’s what that was.

Sharon: Well, I don’t mean to pry, but, um, I don’t know, it seems like maybe your work is what’s causing tension for abby.

Mariah: Chance was out all night?

Abby: On a stakeout. Yeah, it must’ve run late.

Mariah: Another one? ‘Cause it seems like every time tess and I come down into the coffeehouse for a late-night snack, chance is there, and he’s filling up on enough coffee to get him through another late-night stakeout. I was kind of hoping things would calm down, and he’d start working more regular hours.

Abby: Yeah, me, too.

Mariah: Well, at least he’s not gone for months on end, and he’s not working an undercover job that takes him halfway around the world.

Abby: Right?

Mariah: I guess chance just loves his job. You know, rey was the same way. They just get this adrenaline, I guess, out of catching the bad guys.

Abby: That must be it.

Mariah: That can get annoying, I bet. I mean, I know I had such a hard time when tessa was on tour for months on end. Can I admit something in confidence?

Abby: Sure.

Mariah: As bad as I feel about tessa canceling her tour because of her vocal nodules, part of me has really enjoyed having her around more. It’s kind of the silver lining. I must be an awful person for even thinking that.

Abby: No, it’s understandable.

Mariah: Yeah, it’s been amazing, you know? She gets to give attention to our relationship and our adoption process. Don’t get me wrong. As soon as the doctor clears her to get back on stage, I’m going to be right there rooting her on, but it has been nice to get a little bit of attention and not play second fiddle to her beautiful music.

Abby: Second fiddle.

Mariah: I know chance is out there busting criminals, and however noble his job may be, it sucks that he prioritizes that or anything over you and dom.

Abby: It is hard, and it is causing problems in our marriage.

Kyle: Don’t you think you’re being a little melodramatic?

Diane: This is my life, my future. If anything, I’m holding back.

Kyle: Really? Because I can’t help but wondering if all this emotion is a calculated move to get me to beg you to stay.

Diane: Kyle, that’s not fair. How could you stand to constantly live under a microscope? Every move and intention met with judgment and suspicion. How would you feel if you couldn’t escape a questionable past? Even if the things you did were done out of necessity for survival?

Kyle: I’m sure it would be difficult.

Diane: Yeah, and to make matters worse, there’s a small legion of adversaries just doing their best to bring me down and run me out of town.

Nikki: We need more than tucker’s word that she had a connection with this stark guy. And do we have any proof that she broke the law?

Ashley: Unfortunately, no.

Nikki: I don’t understand how all of our digging didn’t turn this up. And victor’s team, they don’t know anything about this. I mean, if she were involved in a criminal conspiracy, wouldn’t there be some sort of evidence?

Ashley: I asked tucker the same question, and he gave me a very vague answer, something like being in the right place at the right time. Same answer for how he made the connection between jeremy and diane.

Phyllis: I know, but if he’s using what he knows to pressure diane, I mean, he has to have some sort of proof.

Nikki: Maybe he’s playing you.

Ashley: Oh, I don’t think he’s flat-out lying. He told me this information because he wants to prove that I can trust him, that he’s loyal to me. In fact, he even — I mean, he wrapped it up, you know, with a ribbon, the whole thing, and presented it to me as a gift.

Nikki: Ashley, please don’t tell us that you are starting to soften towards him.

Ashley: Of course not. I’ve got him eating out of the palm of my hand. If you want to be certain, why don’t we go ahead and get victor’s team involved? You know, maybe they’ll find something out.

Phyllis: No, forget victor’s team. They’ve already shown they’re useless. It’s on us. We need to confront diane and put the fear of god in that bitch.

It gave you the time and the space that you needed to awaken these feelings that I’m talking about. And, trust me, I was completely blindsided. I did not see this coming. But now that I think about it and I see it, I just — it makes perfect sense.

Devon: Well, it doesn’t make any sense to me.

Amanda: Come on, devon.

Abby: You know how much i love chance and how heartbroken I was when I thought we lost him.

Mariah: Yeah, I had a front-row seat for every moment of it.

Abby: And when he came home, when he came back to genoa city. I thought things were going to be great. I thought that he’d be able to focus on me, on dominic on building our family. I just… I thought things were going to be perfect.

Mariah: So then what is it that’s really going on?

Abby: I just don’t understand how chance can put so much of his attention into his work. It’s like when he has a case, that’s all he can focus on. He prioritizes it over me, over dominic. I don’t get it. I mean, am I expecting too much from my husband?

Mariah: Well, that depends, you know? Are you asking him not to care about his job?

Abby: Well, that’s the thing. Of course I want chance to have a meaningful career. I know it’s important to him. It’s just his priorities.

Mariah: Well, that’s the thing about chance. He’s a determined and dedicated man. To his family but also to his oath and his code. I don’t know if he could give that up, even if he wanted to.

Abby: Then where does this leave us?

Mariah: It depends on how you feel about the real man that you married versus the perfect one you imagined.

Chance: Yeah, there is some tension between abby and me. She just has this unrealistic fantasy of who she wants me to be, and I don’t think she gets who I actually am. And we just keep having the same argument over and over again, you know? And I’ve tried to help her understand how much I care about her and dom and that I will always be there for them, but it just feels like any time work comes up or plans get ruined because of a job or if she even thinks I’m distracted thinking about a case, she goes straight to betrayal. I’m betraying her.

Sharon: Because you’re not putting family first.

Chance: And the truth is, work is just important to me. It gives me a purpose, and I tell you, it makes me a better father and a better husband. I don’t think I could ever be happy giving that up.

Sharon: Is that really what abby wants, for you to give it up?

Chance: [ Sighs ] Sometimes I think it would make her happier. I’m telling you, I have tried to be the man that she wants me to be, and I just — I keep failing.

Sharon: Maybe you two can find a compromise.

Chance: I doubt we’re going to find any middle ground. I can’t control when I’m needed for work. If they call, I have to be available. And, you know, I don’t know if i want to be the man that abby says she wants. When you really need to sleep.

Chance: I’m sorry for unloading all that on you.

Sharon: No apology needed. I don’t want to offer any solutions, but I will make an observation.

Chance: Okay.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] Nobody can make somebody else change, and I’ve seen so many relationships fail trying.

Chance: Yeah, I don’t want that.

Sharon: Well, I hope that you and abby are able to work things out, but staying and trying to change something that can’t be changed is just headed down the road to miserable heartache. And, unfortunately, some people will always want what somebody else just can’t give them, and I’m sorry if that just sounds too rational or analytical. I know that we’re talking about matters of the heart.

Chance: No, no. I appreciate your candor. It’s actually refreshing.

Jack: Look, I think your support thus far for kyle has been amazing. I know this whole diane mess has really taken its toll, but you have handled it all with grace while raising a very busy little boy and relaunching marchetti all at once. Is it possible that maybe you’re taking on too much of the burden of keeping kyle safe?

Summer: I have to protect the people that I love.

Jack: Honey, nobody understands that instinct better than I do, but kyle’s a big boy. He’s smart. I know he wants his mother back in his life, but his eyes are wide open, particularly after this latest news.

Summer: [ Sighs ] I want to believe that. I really do. But I also see how much diane’s return means to kyle. And it’s not just that he missed having her in his life. It’s like his life is now somehow complete, now that she’s back in it, like he feels whole again somehow.

Jack: Yeah, I’ve seen that in him, too.

Summer: I worry that those feelings could blind him to an oncoming threat.

Jack: Well, you know what? If he doesn’t see it coming, we will. We will have his back.

Diane: You want to know what set me off? This. This is the man I told you about, the one I was stupidly involved with in L.A. The one who tricked me into moving money around for him illegally.

Kyle: Okay, so he’s about to be released from prison. You said you weren’t implicated. So what’s your concern?

Diane: Don’t you see? I can’t help but worry that the evil trifecta will find out about this and somehow use it against me.

Kyle: Yeah, I assume you mean nikki, ashley, and phyllis. How can they even connect you to stark?

Diane: Tucker. He’s been hanging around ashley, trying to win her back, and I certainly don’t trust him to protect this secret.

Kyle: I still don’t see what the big deal is. Even if there is proof that you had anything to do with stark, the statute of limitations has probably run out by now. I mean, what can they do? What can this guy do?

Diane: He’s a dangerous man. What if he believes I helped put him away? What if he’s been looking for revenge? And what if my enemies help him know how to find me?

Kyle: Did you?

Diane: What?

Kyle: Did you help put stark in jail? Who says you have to spend more on skincare

Devon: Amanda, I don’t want you to see this as a competition between you and abby, okay?

Amanda: That is the problem. You don’t see it. Something happened when you became dominic’s father.

Devon: What happened? ‘Cause you were right there by my side. You’ve been down this whole journey with me.

Amanda: No, exactly. I see how much you love that little boy. And that connects you to abby forever. And no matter how much you say that you love me, I will never be that for you. I will never be enough to fill that space in your heart.

Devon: This isn’t about you being enough. You’re more than enough for me.

Amanda: Well, then maybe you’re not enough for me. Because now I know that you are capable of throwing it all away. Your love for me was not strong enough to keep you from acting on your feelings with abby.

Chance: Mariah, good to see you.

Mariah: Yeah, it’s good to see you, too. But I’m so sorry. Got to run to work. Um, and you two should talk. I’ll see you later, okay?

Abby: Alright. I’m glad that you’re home. You know, I’ve been thinking a lot. I’ve expected so much from you since you got home from spain, and I’ve really only looked at our marriage from my point of view and not yours. You know, what about you? What do you expect? Chance, please. I’m really hoping that we can put aside what happened with devon. It was a complete mistake, and maybe we can work this out.

Ashley: Well, you know, the fact that stark went to prison and diane didn’t brings up a very interesting point. Obviously, the feds couldn’t pin jeremy’s crimes on diane, or she’d be in prison, too, right?

Phyllis: You’re not saying that diane’s innocent, are you?

Ashley: Of course not. I’m just thinking this through. I mean, if I were stark, I would wonder if diane had something to do with my conviction.

Nikki: He may very well suspect that she cut a deal to turn him in for her own immunity.

Phyllis: And if he does think that, that’s very bad for diane.

Ashley: If diane thinks that he’s getting out of prison soon, she would be terrified.

Nikki: Maybe she could be scared into believing that he’s coming for her.

Ashley: And then maybe that would motivate her to abandon this need she has to stay in genoa city, and it would get her to actually leave.

Phyllis: This time for good.

Kyle: Please just tell me you at least helped the feds put that man away.

Diane: Yes, I did. I sold him out to free myself so that I could turn things around and then figure out a way to get back to you.

Kyle: And he could easily suspect that because you weren’t investigated.

Diane: Yes. Especially if he gets some help. Kyle, what if he’s waiting for revenge, and the three of them just decide to light the match?

Kyle: Just calm down. Don’t drive yourself crazy over this. I don’t want you running away in fear from jeremy stark or anyone else. I won’t let anyone do anything to you.

Diane: Just hearing you say that makes me feel so much better.

Kyle: The abbotts protect their own.

Diane: [ Sighs ] Moderate to severe eczema still disrupts my skin.

Nikki: Telling diane that we know about her history with stark would be a good place to begin.

Phyllis: We have to be really careful. I’ve seen diane get out of more difficult situations than this.

Ashley: It’s true. Why don’t we go ahead and get victor’s team involved? Maybe they could find some evidence that would actually tie diane to stark’s crimes. We could just use it as leverage if we needed it, right? And I think with both those things, we’ve got her.

Phyllis: We’re all agreed.

Nikki: Ladies, I believe it is time for the three of us to have another heart-to-heart with ms. Jenkins.

Diane: Thank you, kyle, for your support. It means so much.

Kyle: Does my father know you helped put stark away?

Diane: I haven’t told him that part. And I would only trust you and jack to know this, not even summer, because if she let it slip to phyllis —

Kyle: She wouldn’T.

Diane: I can’t take that chance.

Kyle: Look, I don’t want to keep this a secret from my wife.

Diane: Well — well, look at it this way. You’ll be saving her from the stress of having to hide it from her mother.

Kyle: No, our marriage is strong because we tell each other everything.

Diane: Kyle, please. Phyllis cannot know this. This is my story to tell, not yours. And as your mother, I need you to trust me that this is the right way to handle —

[ Door opens ]

[ Sighs ] Excuse me.

Kyle: Mm.

Diane: [ Sighs ]

[ Indistinct conversation in distance ]

[ Sighs ]

Devon: Amanda —

Amanda: Just go, devon, please. I just want to finish packing up my stuff alone, and I don’t want to say goodbye or anything. I just want to sneak out of here.

Devon: I don’t want you to sneak out. I don’t want you to go anywhere. Can you take a couple days or one day just to see if it makes you think any differently?

Amanda: It’s over, devon. Don’t you see that? There’s no coming back from this.

Devon: I never meant to hurt you… and I hate that I did. I just hope that you know how much I love you, and nothing has changed about that.

Amanda: But everything has. You’re going to have to accept that.

[ Crying ]

[ Sighs ]

Chance: That it’s too late. We’re past working things out.

Abby: No. [ Sniffles ] No, no. How can you say that? After everything we’ve overcome, I mean, after everything that we mean to each other. We can work through this.

Chance: Look, I know in my heart… and I can say this without any bitterness or anger, but… you belong with devon. He’s the guy that fits all your ideals. I’m not that guy. I never will be that guy. And I accept that. So it’s over, abby.

Abby: [ Sniffles ]
