Did he say anything else, other than he was eager to see me?

Well, I’ve tried to stand by him. We’re–we’re both grappling with all of this uncertainty.
I–I know it’s very unsettling.
Chad’s an emotional wreck, Kayla. He’s constantly reliving Abigail’s horrific death. And then to be told all of this… Chad shared with me, you are the one that came up with the idea of opening the grave and exhuming her body.
Yeah. Yeah, I was. And as extreme a suggestion as that may seem, I mean, not to state the obvious, but if Chad finds out that her body is actually in the grave, then it can end this whole speculation that she could possibly be alive.
Yes. Yes, it will certainly do that.
I have to say that I– well, now that I know where Chad is, I feel a little bit better. I mean, I know that he was taking his request to Paulina and that she had approved it, but then I heard something about hitting a snag, and I just– I was just concerned about him.
It wasn’t a snag. It was a person. [tense music]

When Jack found out about this, he– horrified, he was horrified. And then he was furious. And then poor Chad had to bear all the brunt of that.
Well, I mean, can you blame him? Can you imagine being Jack and getting a phone call from somebody you know at City Hall, with no warning whatsoever, and they tell you they are digging up your daughter’s grave?
Well, he finally agreed after he saw the video. I suppose it is the one way to find out if Clyde– dear old Clyde– is telling the truth.
I tell you, this is just surreal. I cannot believe I’m even having this conversation. I am the one who declared Abigail dead.
You don’t sound sure.
You know, after everything that’s happened to the people I love, including my husband, I would be foolish to think that this was impossible.
Right. Well, our family’s certainly had its share of losses but… we’ve had our miracles too. Wow, they have been at the cemetery a long time now. They must know something.
They opened the wrong coffin. I mean, didn’t they? I mean– [stammering] If it isn’t– if it’s Abigail’s, then–

And Bobby claims to have seen the killer shortly after Li Shin’s murder took place. Very close by.
[sighs] What led up to this revelation?
Mm. It was a big game of keep-away.
Yeah. Conversations with Bobby sometimes feel like a– a chess match, don’t they?
Yes, they do. But, Dr. Evans, I’ve been reading a lot about this whole DID thing. So I know that Bobby is his own personality, separate from Everett. But what I’m wondering is, does that mean that he has his own motivations outside of protecting Everett?
What are you getting at?
OK. So these– these verbal chess matches, it’s very clear to me that he wants me to keep visiting him. He’s trying to restart our relationship.
So you think maybe he’s just trying to manipulate you?
I don’t know, you know? And I really don’t know if alters are even capable of doing something like that, which is why I really wanted to come talk to you. In your professional opinion, do you think Bobby is telling the truth about Li Shin’s murder case? Or is he just stringing me along, to give me a reason to keep coming back to Bayview?

So there’s no way to know whether Bobby truly has information on Li Shin’s murder, or if he’s just using this as a tactic to keep me in his orbit?
I’m afraid not.
Mm. All right. But still, even if there’s a % chance that Bobby has a line on Li Shin’s real killer, I have to listen.

So don’t judge, OK? I’m not an eavesdropper by nature. But I happened to overhear Commissioner Hernandez and Detective Hunter talking about how her ex-husband knew who really killed Li Shin.

In fact, she had just come from seeing her ex. It so happens he lives in this very institution. Now, there’s no earthly reason you should know this. [chuckles] Why would you? But Li and I were very close, and I was devastated by his death. It is therefore very important to me that the right person be brought to justice, which is why I was so happy to hear that Gil Carter had been zeroed in on by the police. But if you happen to have information that points to someone else, then I’d really appreciate it if you could share with me.
Mm. Sorry. I’m afraid I can’t help you. It’s sort of between me and Detective Hunter.
I was worried you wouldn’t be very forthcoming. So I suppose I’ll have to give you a hint. You wouldn’t have been talking about me, by any chance, would you?

Yes. They’re hoping to– well, by doing the exhumation, that they can prove whether or not Clyde is telling the truth about Abigail being alive.

All right, so this is a crime scene now. We’re going to take over from here. We suggest you just go on home and… try and get a handle on your thoughts, OK? Our first order of business will be to see whether or not this grave was tampered with once Abigail was put in it.

You know, Clyde could have just created all of this to support his story of Abigail still being alive.

So what is going on?

You? Why would I think that you killed Li Shin?
Because you saw me the night that it happened. I was sitting alone in the park on a bench, deep in thought. I heard something behind me. I turned around and saw someone walking away. I didn’t see their face. And I wasn’t sure if they saw me. But after listening to those two cops, I realized, maybe it was you. And for the record, I was just taking in the night air that evening. I don’t know what could have given you the impression I would have anything to do with Li’s death.
[laughing] It’s totally–

I mean, now that everything’s sort of running through in my head, um, I don’t know what could’ve given me that impression. I guess, uh… you were covered in blood. And I heard you say, “I’m so sorry, Li. I didn’t mean to do it.” Yeah. But, uh, other than that, I can’t really think of anything else that would’ve given me that impression that you killed him. [ominous music]
First of all, “I’m not feeling that spark”? Who talks like that? More importantly, who thinks like that? He was young. He was cute. I threw him out on his ear.
Well, this young man Kerry said it. He said, sometimes that happens.
Not to me! It was like a scene out of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.” God, I love that movie. where alien spores from a distant planet make their way onto Earth’s surface, sprouting flower-like pods which are then mistaken for rare grex plants by Elizabeth Driscoll?

So have you considered the possibility that your reaction to this young man, which you said never, ever happens to you, was really all about Dimitri?
Oh. You mean because he was the last person I did the horizontal tango with? That’s a euphemism, of course. I’m being polite here because the last thing I would ever want is to offend you.
Thank you. But let’s get back on topic here. Um, about Dimitri. You know, he hurt you very, very badly. And I’m wondering if your– your interaction with this young man, um, made you frightened. And maybe you–your instinct for fight or flight kicked in.
Meaning I was protecting myself from being hurt again?
Exactly.
Huh. But Dimitri is long gone, and I thought I was at least kind of over him. Maybe I’m not. Does this mean I’m never gonna be attracted to another man? Am I straight now?
No! No. You’re just fine. You will meet and fall in love with another man. I’m not worried about that. But in the meantime, I think you’ve got to be patient, you know? And let yourself heal from the breakup with Dimitri.

Well, I think that that’s the most extreme possibility.

But it is a possibility. There are more probable explanations.
Right, like this could be a hoax orchestrated by Clyde.
Yeah. That’s definitely one of them.
[sighs] But–but what would be the point of that? I mean, aside from getting Chad and Jack’s hopes up, just to dash them?
That could be the point. Let’s not forget, we are dealing with a sadistic psycho.

You didn’t see it but… when I told Chad we had to make sure that Clyde hadn’t taken the body, his expression–

Rafe and Jada showed up while we were there. They’re opening an investigation.
I don’t know how this could have happened. I mean, the hospital did everything by the book. I hesitate to even say this, but is it possible that somebody stole the body?
Well, Rafe thought that was a possibility.
Maybe Weston did just that in order to keep the hoax going.
But are we sure it is a hoax?
Or is it possible Abigail is alive? [discordant music]

What happened at the cemetery tonight is just one more piece of evidence that that is Abby.
But until Rafe and Jada figure out what happened to Abigail’s body, we don’t know anything for sure.
Which is why… we need to find this woman.
So putting aside Chad and Jack’s hopes for the moment, if Clyde is staying true to character, he had this coffin dug up and he moved Abigail’s body.
Mm-hmm. But the question is, where to? I mean, you’d need a secure location.
I mean, unless he buried her somewhere else.
Yeah. The other possibility is that, um, Abigail was never in there to begin with.
Damn. You know, this is all just so strange and sad. [sighs heavily] You know, my heart really goes out to Chad and Jack. They’ve suffered through a lot. And losing Abigail in such a tragic and senseless way–
Yeah. You know, maybe you should talk to your ex, see if he has any insight. I mean, he has been helping out with some cases lately.
