Sharon was abducted by Jordan and confined in a sewer, where she was chained to pipes. As Sharon regained consciousness, she found herself in this dire situation, calling out for help. Meanwhile, Ian and Jordan discussed their plans, with Ian expressing impatience and Jordan using Sharon as leverage to ensure Ian fulfilled his promises.

Elsewhere, Victor and Nick were deeply concerned about Sharon’s disappearance. Victor ordered his security team to locate Ian, suspecting his involvement. Upon confronting Ian, Victor issued a stern warning, but Ian maintained his innocence, claiming he had returned to make amends. Sharon decided to spend New Year’s Eve at Society with her family. Unbeknownst to them, Ian and Jordan plotted to harm her. Jordan ambushed Sharon outside Society, rendering her unconscious and holding her captive in a hotel room. Meanwhile, Ian drugged Tessa’s drink, causing her to collapse. Mariah arrived in time to witness Ian tending to Tessa, leading to a confrontation. Nick called the police, but Ian’s release from prison was confirmed as legitimate, leaving the family frustrated and concerned.

Elsewhere, Phyllis attended a gathering at a jazz club, where tensions arose due to her animosity toward Sharon and her discomfort with Danny’s reunion with Christine. Overwhelmed, Phyllis left the event and, during a solitary drive, recalled that an older woman with wavy hair had been driving the truck that had run her off the road. This realization prompted her to consider letting go of her obsessions and focusing on making her children proud.

Sharon celebrated a breakthrough in her memory regarding Heather’s death. She shared with her family that, under hypnosis, she recalled being attacked by an unknown individual, leading her to realize she was not responsible for Heather’s demise. This revelation brought relief to her loved ones, and they decided to keep the information private until after the holidays. However, Phyllis overheard discussions about new evidence potentially exonerating Sharon and confronted her at the cottage. In the ensuing confrontation, Sharon asserted her innocence, leading to a tense exchange between the two.

Meanwhile, at the Newman ranch, Victor surprised his family by accepting Cole and Victoria’s relationship, welcoming Cole into the family, and offering him a position overseeing Newman’s publishing division. Claire presented Victor and Nikki with a commissioned family portrait as a holiday gift, and in return, they gifted her a horse, enhancing the festive spirit.

“NCIS: Origins” on CBS Review by Suzanne 12/16/24

It took me a while to warm to this show, but I enjoy it. It’s been a slow burn.  At first, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the actor who plays young Leroy Gibbs (Austin Stowell) because he looks nothing like Mark Harmon (who plays Gibbs in the present).  We all know what Mark Harmon looked like when he was young because he was on TV at age 22. He was much more handsome and has more charisma than Stowell. Stowell is good-looking but has a longer face, a pointier chin and a larger nose. His eyebrows and ears are different. Harmon has piercing blue eyes, and Stowell does not. He has green eyes and wears blue contacts over the green ones. In short, it doesn’t quite work.  However, he is a very good actor, and he has the same quiet intensity that Harmon has (especially as Gibbs). They have similar lips and are the same height. After a while of watching Stowell as Gibbs, it works.  The other cast members do a great job, too.  There are only two others playing characters we know from NCIS. One is Gibbs’ mentor and friend, Agent Mike Franks. He was originally played by Muse Watson, but now he’s played by Kyle Schmid, who is one of the best things about the show. The other is Special Agent Vera Strickland, played originally by Roma Maffia, now played by Diany Rodriguez. She appears to be a potential romantic interest for Gibbs.

Gibbs’ main story this season has been about grieving the murder of his wife and daughter, dealing with PTSD and injuries from the Gulf War, and fitting in with the new NIS squad in 1991 (they become NCIS in 1992).  These events take place a decade before the main “NCIS” show’s events.  Anyone who knows the history of the show will remember that Gibbs shot the cartel guy who killed his family, and all that he dealt with in the past, but we get to see it all again in this show.  Gibbs’ dad was played well by the late Ralph Waite. Now he’s played equally well by Robert Taylor (“Longmire”).  I hope we see more of him.

One of the main things that makes the show more interesting is that Mark Harmon narrates the series. It’s great to hear his voice again.

There have been many spinoffs from NCIS, but this prequel is worth watching. I think the stories are better and not as dull as some procedurals can be. One thing that’s fun about setting a show in the early 90’s is that the technology is different (no cell phones!), and the laws are also a little different.  The show is set in Camp Pendleton near Oceanside, CA (about 40 minutes north of San Diego). I grew up in San Diego and then moved to Carlsbad (one of the towns near Oceanside) for high school, so it makes me laugh when they mention that area.

It will be interesting to see how Gibbs changes going forward, as they make him into the Gibbs we know from “NCIS.” I look forward to it.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Well, I hope you have a wonderful Turkey Day, too, Mother. And please send Roger my regards.

[doorbell rings] I should take this. I love you.

[suspenseful music]

Well, it’s definitely not mutual. You can take my word on that.

[chuckles] What the hell do you want?

[phone line trilling]

[phone ringing]

Hey, Javi, did you get those dinner rolls Gabi wanted?

No, I’m here at the pub, but they’re closed. Sign says private event. You want me to try a bodega for some bolillos?

Mm, Gabi was really counting on those rolls. Hey, you know what? The Salem Inn, I think they use the same supplier. Maybe you can go to their kitchen and beg for some.

I’ll try, but it’ll be a little tough on Thanksgiving.

[soft dramatic music]

[phone beeps]

[door opens]

Oh! [laughs]

Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh, happy Thanksgiving, baby! But what–what are you doing on my doorstep? You’re supposed to be at the DiMera castle.

I am, but we have a tradition to uphold.

Aw, chocolate turkey.

Big Mama’s special yearly treats.

Oh, this just might have been your favorite part of the holiday.

Mm, maybe my second, like, right after your sweet potato pie. Some of which I hope you will have saved for me for when I come back by later.

Oh, I will save a big piece for you, my darling.

[chuckles] So how is everything? How’s Abe? Is he feeling better?

Oh, yeah, he’s resting right now. But praise be, he is doing much better.

OK, good. God, that was so scary, right? Everyone from the show getting those nasty-ass cupcakes?

Ugh.

Johnny, he’s almost back to normal, too.

Oh, well, that’s a shame.

[tense music]

No, Mom, it’s fine. I really– I don’t mind being alone. No, the Bradys, they did– they invited me, but I would have felt like the extra wheel. I told you why I couldn’t come home to New York. I’m really busy with work. I’ve got a lot of dialogue to memorize. I need to get ahead of that. Mom, what kind of question is that? Mom, of course I am staying away from married men.

[soft dramatic music]

[clears throat]

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

So it’s a shame that my husband is feeling better? Is that a nice thing to say?

Was calling my daughter a cheating slut a nice thing to say?

Oh, Mama, did it occur to you that I don’t need to be reminded of what he called me and that you saying this to me again right now could be triggering?

OK, yeah. Well, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. And I don’t want to upset you, so I won’t say those words again. But that young man, he did say those words right to your face, Chanel! And not that, you know, I wish anything seriously bad to happen to him, but, you know, a little bit of food poisoning is the least he deserves for insulting you like that! Now, that boy, he needs to learn a lesson.

He has learned his lesson, Mama. He feels terrible about what he said to me, and he feels terrible in general about being so stupidly jealous. And he made a complete fool of himself when he confronted me right before his surprise birthday party, no less. Don’t you think that’s punishment enough, huh? And don’t you think that this is between Johnny and me, and that you should maybe, just maybe, just stay out of it?

Fine, fine, fine. But don’t expect me to be all warm and fuzzy towards that husband of yours because I am not at all happy with him.

OK, well, you’re not going to be at all happy with me when I tell you that Johnny and I have decided to work things out. So what he said to me, that is all in the past. I have put it behind me, and I am completely over it.

[tense music]

[soft dramatic music]

Mom, I have to go. Yeah, Happy Thanksgiving, too. I love you. Looks like somebody made a full recovery.

Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. Guess Chanel must have told you how sick I got from that damn cupcake.

She did. [chuckles] It’s not all she told me.

What? What else did she tell you?

She said that after she got you to bed, you were talking in your sleep. About me.

She told you that?

She did. She thought it was because you’re so hyper-focused on work, you’re even dreaming about it.

Yeah, well, that’s how I explained it to her. I told her it was about the show, and she bought it, thank God.

Great. Yeah, she definitely bought it. So can I guess what the dream was about?

Can we please just not go there?

Fine. Fine, you don’t have to tell me. Johnny, there is something that I need to tell you, something you should know.

What? What? What? What should I know?

Um…

I told somebody about us.

[tense music]

See you.

Javi, wait. Thank you. I think.

What?

That look, it’s murderous. God help me, it only makes you hotter.

No, I meant to say what do you want? I’m in a hurry.

I wanted to say that I’m sorry for accusing you of stealing my stories.

[scoffs] Yeah, tell me something I don’t already know. And if I wasn’t interested in your apology last night, why would I be interested in taking it today? I want nothing to do with you, Leo. Getting together with you was a big mistake.

No, it wasn’t. Javi, I have a PhD in mistakes. I make about a million of them a day, so I know mistakes. And us being together was not a mistake. I mean, before I was an idiot and accused you of something I know you had nothing to do with… it was great between us. We had a very real connection.

Yeah, I thought so, too, until you turned on me, until you made me feel like two cents, which is the last thing I needed and which I do not put up with from anyone. Have a nice life.

[sighs]

So you’ve forgiven Johnny? Is that what you’re saying?

[sighs] What, am I supposed to be mad at him forever? He’s my husband. And, well, seeing him sick like that last night, all I wanted to do was just wrap my arms around him and just make him feel better. And it reminded me of how much I love that man and how I don’t want to waste any more time being angry with him. It’s like you always say, life is too short. And Johnny, he is a good person. He is generous and kind. And, well, aside from all of that, he– he makes me laugh. And didn’t you always used to say if someone could make you laugh, they have your heart?

[soft dramatic music] Hmm?

Yeah, I did.

OK, well, Johnny, he has my heart, Mama. And, yes, he made a mistake, but Lord knows I have made my fair share of mistakes. And you have, too, from time to time.

Me? Oh, never. [chuckles]

Mama, I know that you are only being protective of me, and I really do appreciate that. So could you please just try and see it from my point of view and just try to understand that Johnny had a lapse in judgment? That is all, OK? It’s not like he cheated on me. He made a really dumb mistake. And, I mean, the worst that came of it was the big fight that we had on set. But other than that, nothing bad happened.

[sighs] Well, as long as you’re happy, baby, that’s all I care about.

Yes. And I am happy, Mama. I am. I love my husband with all my heart. And I know that we are going to be just fine from now on.

[somber music]

[soft upbeat music]

Huh. Oh, my God. You told someone about us?

Who? Who was it? Your mother? Your father?

No.

Then who?

Why does it matter?

Of course it matters. And, Joy, I don’t understand. You were the one who was so worried about this getting out. You didn’t want to ruin your reputation, you didn’t want to lose your new job.

But I know! I’m sorry, but you are not the only person feeling guilty and miserable about this. It was really getting to me. I didn’t realize how badly I needed somebody to talk to, but I did. It just slipped out.

OK, then who did you tell? Who did who did you tell, damn it?

Don’t worry, OK? He’s not going to say anything.

He? He?

It was Alex.

[tense music]

[sighs]

Leo. Hey.

Hey, Alex. How’s the private event?

Oh, it’s not a private event. It’s just Thanksgiving with the Bradys.

Oh, so no big spread at the Kiriakis estate, huh?

No, not this year. Turkey went up in smoke.

Oh, well, that’s a shame, whatever that means. So why aren’t you in there celebrating?

Well, Stephanie’s in there, too, and things just got a little awkward.

Still? Even after I nudged the two of you together the other night at the Small Bar, it didn’t magically make all your problems go away?

No, it didn’t. [sighs] But this isn’t because of what happened between us on the hospital set.

Well, then what is it?

My cousin Philip’s in there. And I just got word that he and Stephanie used to be engaged.

Seriously?

Seriously. They just took a stroll down memory lane for the last hour, and I could handle about ten seconds of it before I decided I needed to get some air.

Yeah, well, welcome to the I need some air club. [chuckles] Although I could probably use a lobotomy to ease the pain and humiliation that I’m suffering, which I brought on by myself, by the way. Oh, Alex, what is life but one long, forced march, often in ill-fitting shoes, enduring endless misery, countless humiliations, one after another after another until finally and mercifully, it all just fades into nothingness? Wow, I just made Debbie Downer seem like a cockeyed optimist.

Yeah. Yeah, you kind of did. [chuckles] Seriously, you seem more bummed than I am.

I am more bummed than I have ever been, which is saying something. Because not only do I have a PhD in mistakes, I also have one in bummed-outedness, which is a hard thing to say.

Mm. But you managed. So what’s going on, man? Why you so bummed?

[quirky suspenseful music]

In a nutshell, I just blew it with Señor Right.

I got the rolls Gabi wanted. Ooh, what smells so good?

Oh, hopefully, everything. I’ve got, like, five or six things cooking right now. This right here, this, Mama’s camote enmielado.

The candied sweet potatoes?

Mm-hmm.

[sighs] Can dinner be now? [chuckles] Dios mío.No.

Yeah?

You keep that away from me. I can’t afford for the six-pack to turn into a keg.

No, no, no, no.

No, no, no, no. [laughter] Hey, where is everyone, anyway?

Yeah, Gabi had to run an errand. And Jada is still at work. But hopefully, everyone’s going to be here soon and then we can dig in. Were you serious about me keeping that away from you? Just curious.

No, you’re right. I need you to save me from myself. [laughter]

So how was it out there? Quiet?

Not quiet enough. I bumped into Leo, unfortunately.

I guess that means you’re still angry about the whole Lady Whistleblower thing.

Yeah, damn right, I am. I mean, how dare he accuse me of stealing his stupid stories and talking to me like that? I mean, Gabi was right about him. And telling me to avoid him like the plague. Such a jerk.

I came to get some things I left here, but my key doesn’t work.

Huh. Glad to know that locksmith was worth the money.

You had the locks changed?

Best way I know how to keep out the riff-raff.

Oh. Well, key or no key, this riff-raff is coming in because her property is still upstairs. So unless you want me to call my soon-to-be sister-in-law, who happens to be the new commissioner of police–

[sighs] You’re pathetic. First, your brother loses his job. Now, you’ve misplaced some of your belongings. Gracious me, Gabriella, people in your family certainly have a hard time holding onto things.

Mm. Well, I’m not nearly as easygoing as my brother. When someone takes something from me, I make sure to take it back.

You’re not going anywhere. Not until you apologize.

Well, I should get going, Mama. I don’t want to be late for dinner at Chez DiMera.

[laughs] Well, I hope you all get to eat as good as we do.

Now, you know we won’t.

[chuckles]

But I will try to make the best of it.

Well, at least you’ll be able to get some good dessert when you get back. And you better get back because Eli and Lani are on their way with the kids. And you know they do love their Auntie Chanel.

I love them, too, those little angels. And you know I’m not going to miss seeing them or my sister or Eli.

Mm-hmm. Better not.

And I have enough extra chocolate turkeys for everyone.

Yeah, well, as long as you’re here to help Jules and Carver unwrap theirs.

Oh, I will be.

[laughs]

All right. I love you, Mama.

Oh, I love you more, baby.

See you later.

[chuckles] OK. [sighs] Later.

Later.

Uh-huh. [chuckles]

[tense music] [door closes]

You already demanded an apology from me, remember?

Mm, that was for accusing me of destroying your marriage. And instead of an apology, I got a slap in the face. And now, you owe me two apologies.

I don’t think so. And you’re lucky all you got was a slap after you admitted that you drove Stefan to divorce me.

Oh, please. I only said what I said because you were being completely irrational. It’s psychology 0, Gabi. When someone has gone that far off the rails, just agree with everything they say, no matter how absurd, before they pick up a sharp object and start making real trouble.

You swine.

Mm.

You cost me precious time with Stefan when you railroaded me and sent me to prison. And then you cost me my marriage when you made my divorce your endgame.

Mm. And you don’t believe it’s because you seduced me?

Everything you did, you did because you thinkI’ve ruined things for you and Nicole.

Because you didruin things between me and Nicole.

Am I supposed to believe that you didn’t want your revenge?

[tense music] [EJ chuckles]

[takes deep breath] It’s Thanksgiving, Gabriella. So be grateful for the few marbles that you have left. Meanwhile, I am no closer to getting either one of those apologies that you owe me.

[scoffs] Are you kidding me? Me owe you an apology? You’re the one who should be apologizing to me. In fact, you should grovel. You should get down on your hands and knees and beg forgiveness for the pain you’ve caused me.

So I take it this guy Javi didn’t enjoy you accusing him of stealing your stories and running them in “The Spectator.”

No, he didn’t. But all of the evidence added up. I mean, there was no way it wasn’t him. It was the only explanation that made any sense.

But now you’re saying you don’t think it was him?

Right. Because he picked apart my accusation point by point like some sort of ninja sharpshooter. Made it sound insane that I would even think it was him in the first place. And now, I kind of believe him.

You still do?

Yes, to my utter humiliation and self-hatred.

Mm. Well, then it sounds like maybe an apology is in order for this guy, Javier.

I tried. I sent him flowers. He slammed his door in my face.

Oof.

And now, my love life is up in smoke and so is my career.

Well, Leo, I’m sorry about this guy, really, but there’s definitely something you can do about your career.

Like what?

Like find who the hell this new Lady Whistleblower is who’s stealing your stories and stop her. Like right now.

[quirky suspenseful music]

[chuckling] Hey, you’re back.

Oh, yes. And it feels so good to be back. [both smooch and sigh] Mm, these yams smell amazing.

They taste even better.

[sighs] So are you excited about your first Salem Thanksgiving?

You know it.

I was starting to worry that you weren’t going to make dinner.

Oh, come on, I would never let that happen. And let’s hope that I am done with interruptions for the day.

Doubtful. You see, the commissioner’s work is never done, not even on holidays. Hate to break it to you.

Yeah, well, maybe I’ll get a break, you know, in tracking down this cupcake culprit, who may or may not be Hattie Adams. You know, Paulina’s been really hounding on me. And for the moment, I’ve got nothing.

Mm.

[sighs]

Well, consolation prize.

Mm.

Mm.

Mmm, mmm! Javi, you were right. This tastes way better than it looks.

I told you.

Mmm.

Well, as happy as I am to have been able to cook this feast for you…

Mm-hmm?

I am no longer going to have the time to do it.

Oh, no?

Nope. I actually got a job today.

[upbeat suspenseful music]

So let me get this straight. You told Alexwhat happened between us? Of all people, Alex?

Like I said, I didn’t plan on it. It’s just–I had been with you and Chanel that morning. Keeping this awful secret, it was really getting to me. I needed somebody to confide in.

But Alex and Chanel are friends now. You know that?

I know that, I know that.

Yeah.

That’s why he’s not going to say anything. He doesn’t want to hurt Chanel. And I know he won’t. He’s going to keep quiet about this, Johnny. I know he will.

Yeah, well, I hope you’re right.

Right about what?

[tense music]

Joy and I were just discussing the case of these tainted cupcakes.

And I said I hope they catch whoever did it soon.

Mm.

Oh, I see. Yeah, well, I am just glad that this whole baked goods incident had nothing to do with Sweet Bits this time.

Oh. What do you mean?

Well, there was an incident before. And it was an employee of mine who had an ax to grind and they used my business to do it. So now, you better believe that I do background checks on everyone. [Joy chuckles] I really trusted her and I thought she was my friend and then she just betrayed me.

Mm.

[soft upbeat music] Oh, great. You remembered the pie.

Yes.

Oh, I cannot believe that I forgot it this morning. You know, it would not be a good look and it wouldn’t make a good impression on the DiMeras if we didn’t bring the dessert that we promised.

Well, speaking of my family, although this is an American holiday, my father is irredeemably British, which means he likes to have a dinner that is exactly on time, so we better run. See you, Joy.

Right. Enjoy your holiday.

Oh.

You too.

What are your plans for today for Thanksgiving?

I am going to try the turkey club.

What? Oh, no, no, no, no, no. We cannot have that. You are coming to the house with us.

Oh, no. No, really, that’s OK. The Bradys actually invited me over for dinner, too, but I turned them down because I actually… prefer to be alone.

On Thanksgiving?

Mm-hmm.

What? No, that is crazy. And my mother would never forgive me if I left you here all alone. [Johnny and Joy chuckle]

She said she prefers to be alone, Chanel, so.

And I said that that is crazy. And I know that she’s only saying that because she doesn’t want to impose, which you would not be doing. We would love for you to join us.

I really–

And aside from the fact that I know that my mother would be furious if I didn’t insist that you did, we both also promised your mother that we would look out for you. And I think at the bare minimum, that means making sure that you don’t eat a boring old sandwich for Thanksgiving dinner. So you are coming with us, and I will not take no for an answer.

[tense music]

Oh, so you think I owe you an apology, do you?

Damn right, you do.

So I should just say how terribly sorry I am that you threw baseless accusations in my face and then assaulted me.

Those accusations were not baseless. You said so yourself. And for the record, you weren’t agreeing with me because I was being irrational. You were agreeing with me because I was right.

Right about what? That you took a torch to your marriage and somehow that was my fault?

I am not going to dignify that with a response, nor will I continue this stupid and pointless argument. However, when I come back downstairs, I’m going to expect some world-class groveling.

Yeah, you’re not going upstairs.

Oh, the hell I’m not.

[sighs]

So you got a job? Where?

You’re looking at Black Patch’s new field operative. Yes, I spoke to Steve Johnson today, and he agreed to take me on.

Wait, what’s Black Patch?

Mm… Black Patch is a private investigation firm that’s here in town. You’re probably too young to remember this, but I used to be a PI myself. I even had my own firm, yeah. And, well, Steve is happy to put my experience to work.

Well, they are lucky to have you, primo.

Thank you. [glasses clink]

Yeah, 00%. Congratulations.

Thank you, baby. Mwah.

Oh, you know what’s good news, is that you don’t have to feel guilty for stealing your boyfriend’s job anymore. Too soon?

Yeah, maybe a little. Yeah. And besides, she knows she has nothing to feel guilty about.

I know. I’m just teasing. [laughter] And I’m not going to lie. I am happy for you, cuz. It’s great.

Yeah.

Assuming that it won’t cause a problem for the two of you.

[quirky suspenseful music]

Come on, Leo. You have to realize that it’s not just your career on the line here. If those spoilers get out and they hurt the show’s ratings, everybody on “Body & Soul” is going to pay the price.

I know. I know, believe me. I am dying to stop that second-rate hack from riding my coattails, but I don’t know where to start.

Well, this phony counterfeit Lady Whistleblower works for “The Spectator,” right?

Yes. I have left Chadwick more messages than I can count, but I haven’t heard anything back. I thought about going to the police, but they have bigger problems to worry about than a spoiled soap opera plot, like figuring out who poisoned those cupcakes.

Yeah. Besides which, spoiling a soap opera plot isn’t technically a crime. But still, this phony Lady W needs to be held accountable.

Damn right, she does. And there has to be some way to make that happen, to track her down.

Look, I have faith in you, Leo. You’ll be able to track this little troublemaker down because when you had that job, you were the biggest sneak in town. You’ll root her out.

Well, I’m a rusty sneak now.

[phone beeps] [Alex chuckles]

Oh… yep, it’s my dad wondering where I disappeared to. I should probably get back in there. You want to come join us? We got plenty of food.

Weren’t you just saying I can’t waste a single moment eliminating that existential threat to our very livelihoods?

I think you can make time to eat, Leo. It’s Thanksgiving, for God’s sake.

Thanks, but I’m not going to be hungry or grateful until that imposter is found.

[suspenseful music]

What are you talking about?

Yeah, why would it be a problem if I work at Black Patch?

I was just thinking with Jada as commissioner and you investigating crimes as a PI, it seems like a head-on collision that anyone can see coming. I mean, won’t you be getting in each other’s way? It reminds me of this novela I used to watch, “Mi Corazon es mi Destino.”

“My Heart is my Destiny.”

You know it?

No.

Well, it’s amazing. You should watch it. Anyway, Camila Esparza was this hard-bitten detective who was always butting heads with Pedro Diaz, the PI, who was looking into the same cases that she was. And then they would be at each other’s throats.

Wait, but let me guess. In the end, they fall in love.

Mm.

Mm-hmm?

No. Eventually, she shoots him. B-by accident. But, you know, there was not a dry eye at his funeral.

Very uplifting. Thank you for sharing.

Sorry, I guess that was kind of a downer, huh? [chuckles] And hey, I am sure that it won’t happen to you.

[tense music]

Finally. And I hope you didn’t leave anything behind because you are never coming back here, got it?

As if I would want to! This place makes my skin crawl as much as you do.

Just leave, Gabi.

Oh, I am leaving. And on this Thanksgiving, I am grateful that I never have to see your miserable face again or spend another minute in this depressing mausoleum!

Nyeh, nyeh, nyeh, nyeh.

[groans] [takes deep breath]

Gabi certainly seemed to be in a hurry.

Yeah, the quicker, the better, as long as it’s away from me.

Johnny, you forgot the pie in the car.

Uh, sorry, I’ll–I’ll– I’ll go grab it.

Happy Thanksgiving, EJ.

Chanel, happy Thanksgiving. And Joy, it’s such a pleasure to see you again, although quite unexpected.

Oh, well, Joy didn’t have any plans for the holiday. And no one should be alone for Thanksgiving.

Of course. Welcome, Joy.

Thank you.

You know what? I am going to go help Johnny with that pie. And then I will be back and we’ll put it in the kitchen.

Sounds great. Joy, how about a drink?

Uh, sure.

Please, after you. So what’s your fancy?

Um, a vodka soda would be fine.

Okey dokey, coming right up. So, Joy, I understand you used to live here in Salem. Must be nice to be back.

Well, we moved away when I was a baby, so I don’t really remember anything about it.

Right. Well, I hope you’ve got your fill of it this time around. Because it’s time for you to go.

[tense music]

[suspenseful music]

Where have you been? We’re about to sit down.

Sorry I’m late. I had to get some stuff I left behind at the DiMeras.

Oh, OK.

[softly] Hey.

Well, get settled in. And Rafe can tell you all about his new job.

What new job? [knock at door]

You catch her up. I’ll get the door.

OK.

What do you mean it’s time for me to go?

[tense music]

I know what happened between you and my son, Joy.

Oh.

And it is really necessary for me to tell you how uncomfortable it is having you around. For him and for me.

Look, Mr. DiMera, I didn’t even want to come here in the first place. I couldn’t exactly say no. Chanel insisted.

[chuckling] Oh. I see we have a misunderstanding.

[clears throat] Mm. I’m not telling you to leave my house. I’m telling you to leave this city.

Excuse me?

Joy, my son is terribly guilt-ridden about what happened between you two. Clearly, your continued presence here is only going to make things worse.

So you’re saying he feels guilty, so I need to leave?

He was here first.

Seriously? But–[scoffs] I can’t just leave town. I have a job here now. I signed a contract.

Oh, I’ll pay that out.

No–

You’ll want for nothing.

The show expects me to work. I would be in breach of contract if I were to just leave.

I wouldn’t worry about that. I’m an excellent lawyer. I’ll find good reason for you to breach your contract.

So you really mean this?

Oh, I do. And I’ll be happy to pay you whatever it is you’re owed. And then some, in fact, if you pack up and leave Salem immediately.

I think it’s best that you go before you do any more damage. Hmm? So… do we have an understanding? Hmm?

What the hell are you doing here? I told you I wanted nothing to do with you.

I’m not here to see you. I’m here to see your cousin.

Gabi?

Ugh, no. Rafe.

[quirky suspenseful music] Hello, everyone. Happy Thanksgiving.

Leo.

You too, Leo.

Rafe, listen, I just ran into Steve Johnson outside the Brady pub and he tells me that you are working for Black Patch now.

I am.

Well, that’s great news. Congratulations. I would like to hire you immediately.

To do what?

To find Lady Whistleblower.

I heard there was an open bottle of champagne in here.

Ah.

Yeah. [cork pops] [EJ sighs]

Oh, is everything OK?

Oh, of course. Joy and I were just getting better acquainted.

Uh, well, Harold gave the pie to Cook, who wanted us to let you know that dinner is ready.

Oh, that is wonderful. So let’s all just head into the dining room, shall we?

We shall.

All right.

After you.

[tense music]

If you’re smart, you’ll take this deal. Everyone will be better off, including you, yeah? Now, let’s go grab something to eat, shall we? Come on.

Recap written by Suzanne

At Forrester Creation, Steffy and Carter argue about her killing Hope For the Future, while Ridge stands nearby. Carter warns that FC will never recover from this. After more arguing, Steffy leaves, and Carter learns that Ridge agrees with her. Carter lambasts Ridge for how they treated Hope. Things get more heated as Carter wonders why Ridge won’t consider his plans for the company (his vision). Carter wonders if Ridge is still his best friend, Carter suggests he make Steffy apologize, so Ridge laughs at the idea. Ridge, trying to defuse the situation, insists they sit and have coffee. Ridge asks Carter if he did the job Ridge asked him to (to save on spending taxes for the company). Carter doesn’t answer, so Ridge warns him not get distracted by Hope.
Carter gets angry that even though Ridge says that they’re family, hewon’t listen to him or his plans; Carter looks hurt and upset. Ridge walks out without saying a word. Carter looks very angry.

Zende and Hope chat (in Brooke’s place, I think?). She is hopeful that Carter can talk some sense into Ridge. They discuss HFTF. Although Zende is a Forrester, he’s siding with Hope and her line. Their talk turns to Luna. They still can’t believe what she did, and how she used Zende. Steffy arrives to talk to Zende, ignoring Hope, but she argues with Steffy about what happened. Steffy doesn’t want to hear her excuses.

Katie visits Bill to see how he’s doing, now that he’s living all alone. They briefly discuss Luna. After she leaves, Bill opens a letter from Luna, who tells him how much she regrets what she did, and how much she misses him. At first, he seems touched, remembering when they hugged as a family for the first time. Then he remembers her kissing him, so he burns the letter in the fireplace.

Poppy visits Luna in prison. Luna claims she doesn’t know why she did what she did and apologizes profusely. Poppy assures her that she’s still her mother, but she’s still very upset that Luna killed two people and try to pin it on her. Luna’s real persona comes through when she asks Poppy how Bill is doing. Poppy doesn’t know, since she and Bill don’t see each other any more. Luna smiles happily when Poppy says this, but Poppy doesn’t notice. Luna smiles in an evil-looking way, alone in her cell.

Hope and Carter hold each other in his living room, the next morning after spending the night together, He tells her that he’s there for her, always. She smiles and hugs him. They don’t want to part, but he has to talk to Ridge, to try to get him to keep her and Hope For The Future. He tells her not to give up and promises to make this right.

At Forrester, Eric, Ridge and Steffy discuss Hope’s firing. Eric worries about Brooke’s reaction, so Ridge tells him that she’s not happy about it. Steffy argues that Hope went too far by going after Finn. Eric is not pleased and keeps worrying about Brooke. They argue about making business decisions based on personal feelings. Ridge reminds him that HFTF has been struggling, and Eric agrees, but he’s still upset. Steffy won’t back down because she feels that Hope has gone too far.

Later, Ridge and Steffy worry about how Eric is taking all this, and how Brooke will try to put pressure on him. Ridge points out that Brooke is a mom, standing up for her daughter. Carter walks in and tells them that Hope didn’t disrespect Steffy or her marriage. He tries to explain, but Steffy keeps cutting him off. He points out that they shouldn’t get rid of HFTF over personal feelings. Carter really reads Steffy the riot act about being unprofessional and says he won’t allow it.

At Brooke’s place, Zende, Brooke and Katie are shocked about Hope. Zende feels that it doesn’t make sense to pull the plug on HFTF. Brooke lets him know that it’s personal attack from Steffy. He hears about Hope’s accident with Finn. They then discuss how the whole company will be affected. Zende is no longer lead designer for HFTF. He’s outraged that this has happened. They discuss it more. He’s on Hope’s side. Hope walks in as he’s ranting and raving. She feels bad about how her firing might affect everyone, especially Zende. She tells them, however, that there may be hope – Carter is determined to get Ridge to stop Steffy.

Toni and Lainey walk into a room at FC where Will is moving mannequins around. He’s got earbuds in, so he doesn’t hear them talking about how hot he is. He sees them and takes out the earbuds. They joke and flirt. Lainey invites him to her apartment any time. Elektra enters and meets the other girls. Things are awkward as RJ only has eyes for Elektra. Later, Lainey apologizes for not knowing who Elektra is, but she keeps trying to flirt with RJ. She and Toni are called away. Elektra guesses that Lainey doesn’t like her, but he tells her that he’d rather talk about her. He only knows that she’s into jewelry and very beautiful. She smiles at his compliment. They joke about Toni and Lainey flirting with him for a minute, and then he mentions HFTF. He decides not to gossip about it and then goes back to talking about Elektra. He wants to know more about her. He’s clearly smitten. She assures him that she’s not there because of nepotism. He reminds her that Katie is his mom.

At Carter’s place, he and Hope vent more about how Steffy fired Hope. He promises that they will fight this together. He praises all of her qualities and how hard she works. He says that he won’t let her fall. She says that he’s the man of her dreams. They kiss a lot. He hopes she trust him, and she does. She feels that with him by her side, she can do anything. He tells her that he loves her, and she tells him that she loves him, too. She doesn’t know how she didn’t see him, standing right in front of her. They kiss passionately. He takes off his shirt, and they make love for the first time.

Steffy and Finn settle in at their place. She’s grateful that the kids are at a sleepover because she’s had a hard day. Drinking wine, they discuss how she fired Hope and killed Hope For The Future. Finn supports Steffy whole-heartedly. They kiss and exchange, “I love you’s,” and then they have sex on the couch.

Brooke is stunned after Ridge tells her that he supports Steffy’s firing of Hope. Brooke tells him that he’s wrong about Hope and should trust her. She can’t tell him why because Hope asked her not to tell Ridge about her and Carter. They argue a lot about Steffy and Hope. Ridge blames Hope for trying to wreck Steffy’s marriage and for Thomas leaving town with Douglas. He says that Hope doesn’t know what’s inappropriate or not. This makes Brooke very angry. She talks about Steffy’s hatred for the Logans. She sees Steffy and Hope as equals – the next generation of Forrester, but he doesn’t. She suggests that he should have given Hope the benefit of the doubt. Tears fall as she says that he should have believed her (Brooke) and honored her. The fact that he doesn’t – breaks her heart.

At Forrester, Steffy is outraged to find Hope in lingerie and on top of Finn. Hope tells Steffy that she’s misunderstood, but she can’t explain because she doesn’t want to admit that she thought he was Carter. Finn leaves for work. Steff fires Hope and tells her to pack her things pronto.

Also at Forrester, Taylor and Ridge are discussing Carter’s new ideas. Ridge wonders why Carter is all fired up about this now. Taylor reminds him that Carter is also in Hope’s corner. Brooke comes in, so she and Taylor argue about their daughters again – especially Hope going after Steffy’s husband. Later, after Brooke has left, Steffy comes in and tells them that she fired Hope, and why. She demands that Ridge support her on this.

At Il Giardino, Deacon marvels at the Halloween decorations in his restaurant, put up by Sheila, who’s dressed as a witch. Carter arrives, wanting some of Deacon’s margherita pizza. Sheila goes out to remove the severed head that Carter noticed, at Deacon’s request, but they’re shocked when she somehow appears again at the other side of the restaurant without them seeing her (as if by Halloween magic). She stirs a cauldron, cackling. She serves them a witches’ brew drink she made. They joke around. Deacon thanks Carter for supporting Hope. They talk about how Steffy is always giving Hope a hard time.

Taylor and Ridge catch up. She saw Grace and is doing well now with her health. He’s glad to hear it.

Hope and Carter kiss. Brooke comes in and warns them to be more careful. They tell her about how Steffy threatened to pull Hope’s line again if she goes near Finn. Carter is anxious to hear what Ridge has decided about his ideas.

At home, Steffy and Finn kiss. She’s not looking forward to going into work because she has to deal with Hope, Ivy, and Carter. He gives her advice about how to deal with stress. After she leaves, he notices that she forgot her tablet.

Carter visits Ridge, who’s still with Taylor. Carter wants to know if Ridge has made any decisions about his ideas. He describes them in a very enthusiastic manner. Ridge doesn’t give any clues about how he’s feeling. He looks a bit annoyed when Carter asks him, as his friend, to support him. Things get tense when Ridge tells Carter that he, Steffy, Brooke and Eric have to discuss it still and will let him know.

Hope puts on lingerie, thinking about her earlier conversation with Carter. She is behind the dressing screen when Finn comes in, looking for Steffy. He gets a pen from the desk to leave her a note, knocking over some pens. Hope comes out, thinking he’s Carter. He is shocked. She trips and falls on top of him, on the desk. Steffy walks in just then and yells, “Hope, get off my husband!”

Primetime TV Review: Poppa’s House

TV Review!

“Poppa’s House” Review by Eva 10/29/2024

Poppa’s House stars Damon Wayans as Poppa, a famous radio host who faces challenges at his job when his boss adds a female co-host to his radio show. Damon Wayans Jr. stars as his son Junior who wants to be a film director but he is stuck working for his father-in-law’s advertising agency.

Poppa advises his son to work at his job to support his family while he finds a way to become a director. Junior’s wife Nina (Tetona Jackson) is also supportive of his dream but she wants him to still work at her father’s company so they can enroll their kids in private school.

The show is well written and the cast is funny. I enjoy the close relationship between father and son in the show.

The show airs on Mondays at 8:30 pm EST/7:30 pm CST on CBS and you can stream it the next day on Paramount+.

I think this show is worth watching and give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Hope: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait–lock the door. Lock the door.

Brooke: Carter, what are you doing? Oh, my god. Hope! You and carter?

Eric: Well, it’s all news to me.

Steffy: It’s so strange–he never mentioned anything to you?

Eric: No. No.

Steffy: Dad, what about you? You and carter are really good friends–he never brought this up?

Ridge: Nothing like this, no.

Steffy: This push for growth and corporate expansion? It’s just–it’s out of nowhere.

Eric: Well, it’s kind of his job description, isn’t it? I mean, we always want our coo to be looking for new opportunities, but this–this is off the chart.

Ridge: Yeah. Turning forrester into a global luxury conglomerate.

Eric: Wasn’t what I was expecting. Pretty interesting meeting, though.

[Chuckles] He was so fired up, and hope and zende bvery excited about it. But it’s never gonna happen.

Ridge: I like carter’s initiative, I like his commitment to the company.

Steffy: Yeah, we all do.

Eric: Yeah, absolutely, but what he’s proposing–

Steffy: It’s a lot.

Ridge: No, it’s not just a lot, it’s too much. It’s changing everything.

Steffy: Absolutely. It’s more than just reviving a line or shifting resources.

Eric: Taking forrester creations in a whole different direction.

Ridge: Right. It’s changing the way we see the company, our company.

Steffy: Yes, our company, the family company. We don’t have to answer to shareholders or investment firms.

Eric: Well, his plan would change all that.

Ridge: And why now? Why-why is this happening now? Why does he wanna take such a risk now? What’s carter thinking?

Brooke: You and carter? Honey!

Carter: I’m sorry.

Hope: But I’m-I’m not! Mom, it is not what you think.

Brooke: I know what I saw.

Hope: Okay, well, there’s more to it than what it seems.

Brooke: My daughter and the company coo fooling around in the office.

Carter: I think what hope means–

Hope: Mom, we aren’t just fooling around.

Brooke: Oh, wait. You two are involved? Okay. That makes sense. I mean, you were defending hope and her line and… she was backing you up in the meeting today.

Hope: I believe in carter and his idea for the company, mom.

Carter: And I believe in hope for the future.

Brooke: [Huffs] But steffy is not gonna look at it this way she finds out.

Hope: Because she can’t, mom. No one can know about this. I mean, not-not yet, and especially not ridge.

Eric: Well, carter has obviously given this whole thing a lot of thought. He says he’s been thinking about this for years.

Ridge: Mm-hmm. So why’d he keep it to himself? Why spring it on us now?

Steffy: Well, it didn’t come out of nowhere. I mean, every time we talk, he brings it up, but this goes way beyond just a pitch.

Ridge: Yeah, he’s never talked about transforming forrester into some kinda luxury company–we don’t know how to do that. It’s uncharted territory.

Eric: Fragrances and leather goods, jewelry, wines.

Ridge: And what does that make this company?

Eric: It turns the company into a brand name instead of a fashion house. I don’t wanna do this.

Ridge: But you have to look at the other side, right? If this were to work, it’d be a huge amount of money.

Eric: And also a huge and unbelievable risk.

Steffy: One carter feels is necessary.

Ridge: Carter’s not wrong. He said that we have reached the apex of the fashion industry, and he’s right. So maybe it’s time for something else, to move into…a new era.

Eric: Yeah, or drive us into bankruptcy–could be the end of forrester creations as we know it.

Ridge: Yes, it could be. It could also be the start of something amazing. This could make us the biggest luxury company in the world.

Eric: Yeah, having taken on huge debt and a bunch of private investors.

Steffy: Giving up some of our control.

Ridge: Right. And this is where I don’t agree with carter, because he’s looking at this as an executive. We’re creative– we’re creative, right? What if somebody were to tell you what to do or not to do, even if you’re sitting on a big bag of money? What would you do? It’s a great pitch, and you expect that. It’s-it’s carter… he knows what he’s doing. But why now? Why do it right now? O take chances.

Steffy: Mm-hmm.

Steffy: I’m not saying carter’s plan isn’t though out. I-I just don’t know if it’s right for us.

Ridge: Or the right time for us.

Eric: Forrester’s a family business. It’s not a conglomerate or, you know…

Steffy: Yeah, but I think carter just wants a bigger future for us.

Eric: Is that what you want, steffy?

Steffy: Well, I’m all about innovation. I mean, there’s a reason why forrester is such a leader in this game.

Ridge: Right. We’re not afraid to take chances.

Steffy: Mm-hmm.

Eric: I took the biggest risk of my life just even starting this business.

Ridge: And carter knows that and he’s inspired by it.

Eric: He’s been a big part of our success, you know. As coo, he has overseen some of the biggest gains in our history.

Ridge: Absolutely. The rollout of the bedroom line was flawless.

Steffy: But this is the house of forrester. We don’t need investment bankers over our shoulders reacting to every single decision we make.

Ridge: That’s what I’m saying, we’re artists–you can’t put us in the balance sheets. It doesn’t work.

Eric: Exactly right. A forrester original is a work of art, a real original piece of beauty.

Ridge: Yes, it is.

Steffy: But that’s the thing. We’ve all seen the trends, and there’s been a lot of mergers in this industry–

Eric: We don’t follow trends, steffy–we set them.

Ridge: Whoa, there he is. Okay. I guess so.

Steffy: I really do love that.

Eric: Do you?

Steffy: Yeah, I do. I mean, we have dominated this industry. And, yes, carter wants to take some risks, but…why should we be doing that right now?

Ridge: Yeah, it’s too much.

Eric: You know, something’s going on here. The carter I know would be just as wary of all this as we are. I mean, that’s the surprise in all this. Why this…sudden desire for change?

Hope: Mom, I know this is a lot to process.

Brooke: Yeah, I thought that you and carter were friends.

Carter: We are. [Small laugh]

Brooke: Okay. Well, I didn’t expect to come in here and see you like that. I mean, what about my sister? Katie. Hope’s aunt.

Carter: We’ve been over for a while now.

Brooke: But you’re close and you still talk. Does she know about this?

Hope: No! No one, does, mom, and we don’t want anyone to know.

Brooke: Why, because it’s a fling? It’s a rebound?

Hope: No.

Brooke: Well, then, what is it? I need to know how serious this is.

Hope: I mean, we don’t even really know yet ourselves.

Carter: No. We know we care about each other, and there’s an obvious attraction.

Hope: [Giggles] Yes, a mutual attraction. And we are just giving ourselves some time to see how it goes.

Carter: Yeah.

Hope: Yeah.

Carter: See what develops, given our past.

Hope: Yeah, so there’s nothing to be concerned about, mom. We just are really enjoying seeing each other.

Brooke: In secret.

Hope: For now.

Carter: And you understand why, right? The situation at the office, what’s going on with hope’s line, the company.

Hope: So please, mom, I mean, we really don’t want anyone to know just yet. So can you promise me… please promise me that you won’t say anything. Socks, underwear and

Ridge: Well, carter’s never steered us wrong before.

Eric: No. He’s a valued member of our company.

Steffy: Normally, I rely on his advice. We work so well together. But lately, things just feel as though it’s so out of sync.

Eric: He has his own vision for the company, doesn’t he? Wants to stroke the profits. The company’s never been just about pursuing profits, actually. We’ve, uh, sustained this company for peace of mind. I don’t wanna close my eyes at night and wonder about stock prices and balloon payments.

Ridge: Same.

Eric: I want this company to be here for my great-grandchildren. And I’m afraid it won’t be if we take on all this debt, you know? Our company’s defined by our pursuit of beauty and our motivation is, uh, that divine spark that hits when pen touches paper.

Ridge: [Laughs] Yes. And that is a legacy to be proud of, dad.

Eric: Yes, it is. We have to.

Steffy: I do have another concern. Carter’s had a lot to say about the logans, like he doesn’t like my position on hope and her line. You heard him. He thinks that I have a personal beef and I allow it to interfere with my business decisions.

Eric: I think you’ve been very patient with hope for the future.

Steffy: Thank you. I really appreciate that. But carter feels as though I’m- I’m holding hope for the future to an unfair standard.

Ridge: Well, he has been defending her quite a bit.

Steffy: Yes, he has. He said it again when he tried to pitch the jewelry line.

Ridge: And that was surprising.

Eric: I love ivy. I would love to have her back at the company. It’d be great.

Steffy: Yeah, it would be great, but…carter should have told us first. He should have consulted with us first before having this meeting with ivy.

Ridge: Maybe. I didn’t offer a contract. It’s just–it was an idea like this meeting was an idea.

Steffy: Yeah, but it’s the timing of all of it, it all happening at once. Look, I-I don’t know. It just makes me wonder. I-it makes me wonder if hope is getting into carter’s head somehow.

Hope: Don’t you want us to take our time with this?

Brooke: Of course I do.

Hope: Okay, so we’re not going to be able to do that if everyone chimes in with their opinion.

Carter: Or objections.

Brooke: I’m not objecting.

Hope: No, I-I know that, mom. I’m just saying… we hope no one else will object either.

Carter: Office romances invite gossip, and I don’t want that for hope. She shouldn’t have to justify her feelings or defend them, especially if she’s not ready to share them.

Hope: Well… I can share with you.

Brooke: And what about you, carter?

Hope: Mom.

Carter: It’s okay. Your daughter’s had an impact on me. She’s the one who encouraged me to share my vision for forrester, how it can grow and adapt and go to the next level. And to be honest, I would have never shared it if not for her. She encouraged me to pursue my goals the same way she does with tenacity and integrity. She inspires me. Brings out the best in me.

Hope: Well, you bring out the best in me too, carter. I mean, he believes in me. He believes in my line. I mean, you saw the way he defended hope for the future in there, mom, and the way he asked steffy to put aside her agenda and do what’s best for the company.

Brooke: Well, that’s all wonderful, but it’s business.

Hope: No. It’s also about respect and integrity.

Carter: We understand and support each other.

Hope: And we share the same desires. We want what is best for each other, and we also want this silly war between the forresters and the logans to end here at work for good. And I think you know, mom, that’s not going to happen the way things are.

Carter: No. We want things to change at forrester and in our personal lives.

Hope: We just, you know, doesn’t hurt anyone if we have a little fun while doing it.

Carter: [Laughs] We’re-we’re just sorry you had to walk in on it.

Hope: Yeah. Sorry.

Brooke: Well…

Carter: Are we busted?

Brooke: No. I’m not here to bust anybody. I mean, you’re both consenting adults, right?

[Sighs] But I do have my concerns… and you’re gonna hear them. Finn really crosse

Ridge: Listen, you have every reason to be guarded where hope is concerned.

Eric: Yeah, her behavior with finn really crossed the line.

Steffy: Well, she kissed my husband. I don’t trust her.

Ridge: Okay. But she’s not pursuing him.

Steffy: Oh, she better not. But I don’t trust her across the board. I don’t trust her near my husband, I don’t trust her here at forrester, and… I’m starting to think that she might be manipulating carter.

Eric: What do you mean?

Steffy: Well, they’re friends. And if they’re friends, then that means carter’s on her side. A close ally.

Ridge: His loyalty is to the company.

Steffy: I know that, and, hey, maybe I’m wrong about hope. But it wasn’t that long ago when carter agreed with me. He saw the numbers. He thought that we should cut the line and now, out of nowhere, he’s defending it? He wants to save hope for the future? He’s all about growth and focu–

Ridge: Okay, you know what? It really doesn’t matter. You gave her enough time to turn things around.

Eric: But there is a limit.

Ridge: There is a limit, and at the end of the day, this is business. If she doesn’t come up with the numbers, we gotta make a change. It doesn’t matter what carter says.

Eric: Exactly. This is our company. We know what’s best for forrester.

Brooke: Carter, I need you to be completely honest with me.

Carter: I have been. [Laughs] Hope’s very important to me.

Brooke: So you’re no longer involved with katie?

Carter: We’re still friends.

Brooke: That’s it?

Carter: Maybe it’s all it ever was. We wanted it to be more. We tried, but…

Brooke: Okay. What about the fact that you are ridge’s best friend and you’re a top-level executive here at forrester?

Hope: What are you implying, that we shouldn’t be involved because we work together?

Carter: I’m not hope’s boss.

Hope: No. Steffy and ridge control my line, sadly, not carter.

Brooke: And I’m very grateful that you’ve been there for my daughter to support her and her line.

Carter: Well, I appreciate what your daughter brings to this company and into my life.

Brooke: Well, I am relieved to know that she has somebody in her corner. For a long time here at forrester creations, hope, katie, and I feel undervalued.

Hope: Yes. But we shouldn’t be–we bring a lot to the table.

Brooke: Yes, but it’s all the tension between the logans and the forresters.

Hope: Yeah, it’s a tradition which I believe steffy wants to continue.

Carter: Certainly can’t get past it.

Brooke: Yeah. And I don’t want that to impact you. And hope tells me she doesn’t wanna get in between you and steffy.

Carter: Thank you.

Hope: Yeah, we just… we want to take our time with this and see, you know, how it develops, how it goes.

Carter: Yeah, we do.

Brooke: Okay. Well, that’s definitely a healthier way to do it.

[Both laugh]

Hope: Uh, just so you know, he-he does know about that whole mess with finn and how lost I was.

Carter: I understand what it’s like to be drawn to the wrong person.

Hope: Yeah, so we won’t make that mistake again, will we?

Carter: [Laughs] No.

Brooke: Okay. Well, that’s good to hear. But this is still very new, and I don’t want there to be any broken hearts or hurt feelings.

Hope: Thank you, mom.

Carter: For your support and for keeping this to yourself.

Steffy: Carter, I was won– oh, uh, what’s this?

Hope: Uh, what?

Steffy: Oh, am I interrupting something?

Hope: No. Why?

Steffy: Just the three of you huddled up–is there a reason for it?

Carter: We were, um, discussing work.

Steffy: Oh, okay, well, if it’s about work, then you can tell me what’s going on.

Hope and Carter are kissing and about to have sex in her office. Before they can close the door, Brooke opens it. They get dressed and explain that they’re seeing each other. Brooke questions them about their relationship, and they explain it. Hope begs her not to tell anyone about it because it’s too complicated at work. Brooke asks Carter about his previous relationship with Katie, but he assures her that is long over. Steffy walks in and wonders what they’re all talking about.
