Days of Our Lives Update

Tate paces at home and thinks back to telling Julie that Doug III stole the necklace. Tate questions what he was thinking and worries about Holly finding out.

Holly lays in bed upset at home and then sits up to text Doug III, asking what happened when he told Julie the truth.

Maggie goes to the Horton house and brings Julie some lemon bars but Julie says she doesn’t have an appetite. Maggie says she’ll leave them for Doug III but Julie informs her that he won’t be eating them either because he’s gone as she threw him out.

Paulina walks through the park and finds Doug III sleeping on the bench, so she leaves a bag from the bakery and walks on.

Johnny sits in the living room at Paulina’s, thinking back to confronting EJ about raping Sami. Johnny gets up and looks at a knife on the table as EJ then arrives, knocking on the door and asking him to open up.

Maggie questions Julie throwing Doug III out of the house. Julie reminds Maggie about Alice’s diamond necklace from the time capsule that vanished so mysteriously on the day of Doug’s memorial. Maggie asks what she’s saying. Julie then reveals that Doug III is the one who stole it.

Doug III is woken up by receiving Holly’s text, so he calls her. Holly asks what happened with Julie after he told her the truth. Doug III confirms that he did and she felt very hurt and betrayed, so she threw him out of the house which he totally deserved. Holly says she’s so sorry as she thought maybe Julie would give him another chance since he owned up to it. Doug III reveals that he actually wasn’t the one to tell her. Holly doesn’t understand. Doug III says that when he got there, Julie already knew. Holly questions who told her.

Sophia goes to see Tate. Tate is surprised she’s not sleeping in. Sophia hopes today is the day her mom finally approves of Johnny and Chanel for the adoption. Sophia thinks Paulina was pretty persuasive. Tate asks what the issue is. Sophia responds there is none anymore and she wants to ask them a few questions to get a better sense of who they are, but if everything goes according to plan, Johnny and Chanel will be their baby’s parents.

Chanel meets Paulina in the town square and thanks her for being there for them today and for letting her and Johnny stay with her and Abe last night. Paulina says they are always welcome in their home and her heart goes out to Johnny because she can’t imagine him finding out how he was born. Chanel agrees that it’s pretty horrifying and wishes there was something she could do or say to help. Chanel adds that EJ said he wasn’t totally sorry about raping Sami because if he hadn’t, Johnny wouldn’t exist. Paulina calls EJ sick. Chanel says that Johnny is worried about Amy finding out somehow. Paulina encourages that whatever happened all those years ago is none of Amy’s business. Paulina talks about the sins of the father and tells Chanel to rest easy because there is no reason for Amy to ever find out about what EJ did to Johnny’s mother.

EJ continues asking for Johnny to open the door so he can talk to him. Johnny answers the door and asks what the hell he wants. EJ responds that he wants him to come home.

Tate tells Sophia that he’s just really glad that her mom is on board with Johnny and Chanel adopting the baby. Sophia feels he doesn’t seem that glad. Tate assures it’s what he wanted, but has something else on his mind. Sophia guesses it’s about Holly and asks what she did this time. Tate says it’s not really what Holly did, but what he did.

Doug III tells Holly that Julie didn’t say who told her, but he guesses it was Melinda. Holly reminds him that Melinda didn’t say anything to the cops. Doug III suggests maybe JJ got it out of her. Holly questions where he slept last night if Julie kicked him out of the house. Doug III informs her that he camped out in the park. Holly asks if he’s insane since there was a thunderstorm last night and questions why he didn’t call her. Doug III says it’s fine. Holly tells him to come over to her house right now and they’ll figure it out when he gets there as they then hang up.

Maggie can’t believe Doug III stole the necklace and questions why he would do that. Julie responds that she has no idea but he said he was desperate and stupid. Julie says it doesn’t matter because what’s done is done and he’s a thief, so she couldn’t bear to hear excuses. Maggie says she’s so sorry. Julie talks about thinking he was family and bringing him in to the family home. Julie thought when Doug III first appeared, it was her miracle and that he would be there for her. Julie says he seemed nice but now her heart is breaking all over again.

Chanel talks to Paulina about feeling like she’s about to fail a big exam. Paulina knows how important this is and she truly believes it’s going to work out. Chanel remains worried about Johnny as he’s never been like this before, so she hopes he can keep himself together and that he doesn’t let Amy sense something is off. Paulina encourages that the adoption means everything to them, so he will pull himself together. Chanel prays for nothing to screw this up. Amy then arrives in the town square and asks if there’s a particular reason that Chanel is worried.

Johnny tells EJ that he doesn’t have a home. EJ argues that the DiMera Mansion is his home. Johnny disagrees and says that it was, but now it’s just some big, gaudy house built on a foundation of lies. EJ tells him that one day, that house will belong to him. Johnny responds that he doesn’t want it or anything from EJ or Stefano. Johnny can’t believe that Stefano wanted EJ to impregnate a Brady so he went ahead and raped Sami. EJ argues that it wasn’t that simple. Johnny calls it straightforward to him and says EJ got a son out of it. EJ is thankful he’s here but Johnny says he wishes he wasn’t. EJ argues that Johnny is a loving person. Johnny tells EJ to shut up because all he does is lie. Johnny says he doesn’t want to live with him and he wants nothing to do with him. EJ asks him to hear him out. Johnny tells him again to shut up and says not to call him “son”. EJ asks Johnny to let him say a few things and then he promises to leave. EJ sits down and states that Sami is a wonderful woman and it may have taken awhile, but she knew he loved her with all his heart, so he eventually got through to her. EJ admits he tried to excuse what he did when it was inexcusable, but he did try to make her understand that he sometimes behaved in ways he felt he had no control of. EJ admits that he was a deeply flawed person who behaved reprehensibly and shamefully at times, but his heart was sometimes in the right place like right now as he feels so much love for Johnny. EJ states that Sami at the time saw the best in him and eventually forgave him, so he asks if Johnny thinks he could too, in time.

Doug III joins Holly in her room. Holly points out that his clothes are soaking wet and tells him to give her his clothes so she can put them in the dryer while he goes to take a shower. Doug III then removes his jacket and shirt.

Julie complains to Maggie about he she accused her own brother of stealing the necklace when Doug III sat there the whole time. Maggie understands the necklace represented her family. Julie talks about it belonging to Alice. Maggie asks how Julie found out. Julie explains that last night, she went out to dinner at the Bistro and there was Melinda Trask, wearing the necklace. Julie says she confronted Melinda but she denied it while Doug III just stood there. Maggie assumes the police ultimately put it all together. Julie says they didn’t but now JJ is doing everything in his power to get the necklace back from Melinda. Maggie asks how she found out then. Julie reveals that she got a phone call from Tate.

Sophia asks Tate why Doug III stole the necklace. Tate guesses he owed some people money and was in a bad way, so he saw the easy way out and confided in Holly. Tate adds that Holly told him and he promised not to tell anyone, but last night, he broke that promise and told Julie that Doug III was the thief.

Amy questions why Chanel is so worried that something might screw this up. Chanel says there’s no reason in particular but she’s jut nervous because it would mean the world to her and Johnny if Amy gives them her blessing to adopt Sophia and Tate’s baby. Paulina, Chanel, and Amy grab a table while Paulina says she will order them tea. Amy asks if Johnny is coming. Chanel says he’ll be there any minute. Amy informs them that she’s given it a lot of thought, consulted her lawyer and husband and prayed on it. Amy then announces they have decided they would be comfortable with Johnny and Chanel adopting the baby which thrills Paulina and Chanel. Paulina excitedly proclaims that Chanel is going to be a mother. Amy adds that her lawyer did have some questions for her to ask first, but when she reaches in to her purse and opens up her tablet, she sees an article in the Spectator titled “DiMeras in Disarray” with EJ on the cover.

Johnny tells EJ that there is no way in hell that he could ever forgive him. Johnny states that everything he knew was a lie, so he’s been wondering what’s true, and he realized that what’s true is that everything EJ touches dies. Johnny complains about the destruction EJ leaves and the women that come and go from his life. Johnny tells EJ there is nothing for them to work out because what he did was unforgivable. Johnny tells EJ to just go so EJ says he will if that’s what he wants. Johnny looks back at the knife on the table and tells EJ that before he goes, there is one more thing.

Maggie questions Julie as to how Tate knew. Julie says he didn’t give any details, just that Doug III admitted to it. Maggie can’t believe this happened and says it’s the last thing Julie needs. Maggie asks if it would help if she stayed but Julie says she’ll be fine and that Thomas and Charlotte will be back soon from school and they always cheer her up. Julie just wishes she could stop worrying about Doug III, where he slept last night and if he’s okay. Maggie says that’s because Julie is a good person and despite the terrible thing he did, Doug III is still family. Maggie brings up Doug III and Holly becoming quite close, so she wonders how much Holly knows about this.

Holly tells Doug III to go take a shower while she will talk to Maggie to make sure he can stay here for awhile. Doug III argues that she can’t do that since Maggie is friends with Julie and won’t want him here. Doug III brings up Tate and doesn’t think he’ll want him camping out in his girlfriend’s bedroom. Holly tells him to let her worry about Tate.

Tate tells Sophia that he doesn’t know what he was thinking but admits he was bothered by how much time Holly was spending with Doug III and even more bothered when he found out that Melinda knew Holly was covering for him, so he was freaked out that Holly could go down as an accomplice all because Doug III stole from Julie of all people. Tate says without even thinking, he was dialing Julie’s number and thought he would drop a couple hints to guide her to the truth, but before he knew it, the words were just pouring it out of him. Tate says he rationalized it by telling himself he was doing it to protect Holly but that’s not the whole reason he did it. Sophia understands he wanted to punish Doug III which Tate admits, but he ended up punishing himself because sooner or later, Holly is going to find out that he told Julie and she will never forgive him.

Johnny tells EJ that he will send for he and Chanel’s things because he wants nothing more to do with him. Johnny declares that EJ is dead to him.

Amy questions if Chanel and Paulina knew about this. They claim not to, so Amy reads the article to them about EJ being implicated in crimes and recently seems to have escaped the law once again after Rachel Blake disappeared. Paulina argues that those charges are alleged, not proven. Amy brings up that Chad is EJ’s brother and the editor of the Spectator so he’s willing to put this out there. Amy continues reading about how EJ stands out as ruthless. Amy worries about her grandchild being raised in a house of felons. Chanel assures that it won’t be and that she and Johnny already moved out. Amy questions if they moved out because they believe the allegations in the article are true. Amy worries that EJ would wield significant power over her grandchild’s life regardless of where they live. Amy thinks this article is the sign from God that she’s been seeking as she then declares that this adoption will not happen. Amy tells Chanel that she’s sorry and walks away, leaving Chanel and Paulina in tears.

Doug III appreciates what Holly is trying to do for him. Holly promises she won’t get in trouble for him staying there because Maggie is the kindest person. Holly tells him to go shower while she talks to her and then asks him to hand over his pants.

Maggie goes home to the Kiriakis Mansion, finishing a call with Nicole. Maggie tells her they are sending things for baby Jude and says that Holly is fine but she will have her call her later as they hang up. Holly then comes in and tells Maggie that she needs to talk to her about something. Maggie says she has to talk to her too and informs her that Julie told her that Doug III stole Alice’s necklace, but something tells her that isn’t news to her. Maggie calls this a very serious matter and asks Holly to be completely honest as she asks if she’s been covering for Doug III all this time.

Sophia encourages that maybe Holly won’t find out that Tate is the one who ratted out Doug III. Tate complains that everyone finds out everything in Salem. Sophia suggests maybe she’ll understand why he did it. Tate responds that he doesn’t even know why he did it. Amy then shows up at the door, surprising them. Amy decides it’s best to speak to both of them at the same time. Sophia asks how it went with Johnny and Chanel. Amy says not as she hoped which Sophia questions. Amy says she wanted this adoption to work out but it’s become clear that it’s not in the best interest in the child. Sophia asks why not, so Amy shows her the Spectator article about EJ.

Paulina tells Chanel that she’s so sorry. Chanel can’t believe this is happening when they were so close. Johnny arrives and apologizes for being late, but asks if Amy didn’t show. Chanel informs him that she came and left which Johnny questions. Chanel reveals that Amy called off the adoption. Johnny asks what happened, so Paulina informs him that his father happened.

Doug III comes out of the shower and back to Holly’s room where he looks at a framed photo of Holly and Tate.

Holly tells Maggie that she knows how much the necklace means to Julie, so she wouldn’t have covered for Doug III if she wasn’t sure that he was going to tell her the truth, but he wanted to get it back first. Maggie points out that he didn’t. Holly explains that he wanted to work out a plan with Melinda but she refused. Holly guesses Melinda had to go tell Julie the truth but Maggie reveals that Julie found out from Tate, which shocks Holly.

Sophia asks what Amy is saying. Amy declares that they are either going to have to find a suitable couple to adopt or Sophia and Tate will have to raise the baby, themselves.

EJ goes home to the DiMera Mansion, leaving a message for Chad to call him back immediately. EJ hangs up and complains about Leo and Chad. Paulina arrives and declares that it’s EJ that is betraying people. Paulina tells EJ that he’s destroyed Johnny and Chanel. EJ asks what the hell she is talking about. Paulina brings up the sins of the father and informs him that the adoption fell through because of EJ and his litany of crimes, so they are beyond devastated. Paulina complains that they have been through enough. EJ tells her to tell him what he can do. Paulina says he’s done enough and she just came to warn him that no one messes with her baby and gets away with it.

Johnny and Chanel go back to Paulina’s. Chanel complains that they were so close to having it all. Johnny declares he won’t let EJ get away with this. Chanel asks what he means. Johnny says EJ is the reason that Amy wouldn’t approve their adoption. Johnny calls EJ ruthless and evil. Johnny states that if not for EJ, Amy would’ve said yes and they would be parents now. Chanel says that EJ is a factor and that’s not going to change. Johnny looks over again at the knife on the table and says they will see about that.

Holly meets Doug III in the park. He tells Holly that he just talked to Julie and it turns out that Melinda didn’t mention their names to the cops. Holly is relieved and asks if they are in the clear. Doug III says he’s not sure about that since Julie also said she won’t rest until she finds out who took the necklace. Doug III declares that Melinda didn’t say anything, but he’s starting to think maybe he should tell Julie that he’s the one who took the necklace.

Tate declares that he’s sorry but this is for Holly’s own good as he calls Julie. Tate tells Julie that he heard about her Grandmother’s missing necklace and he has some information about who took it. Julie asks what kind of information. Tate reveals that he know who stole it.

Brady walks through the town square and gets a call from Marlena, who informs him that she and Steve have made it to Estonia so with any luck, he’ll be seeing his father very soon.

Melinda goes to the DiMera Mansion where Kristen is pacing in the living room. Melinda offers to take her mother’s signed immunity agreement but Kristen says she’s afraid there’s going to be a problem because her mother never signed the agreement. Melinda asks why the hell not.

EJ is outside the Brady Pub, on the phone with Rita to thank her for arranging Rachel Blake’s “travel arrangements”. EJ tells Rita not to concern herself with Kristen because she has no idea. EJ thinks Rita deserves a bonus for helping him dispatch Rachel Blake and Arnold. EJ declares that thanks to Rita, any person who could have caused him trouble has been taken care of. Ava then approaches him.

Melinda questions Kristen saying her mother is gone. Kristen complains that Rachel Blake didn’t have a cell phone and that EJ is the snake that made her disappear in the first place.

Ava tells EJ that she would love to be the one to put him behind bars for his role in her kidnapping, they both know that’s not going to happen. EJ comments on justice for the crime being likely to elude her. Ava thinks back to Melinda giving her a gun and tells EJ not necessarily.

Holly asks Doug III why he would tell Julie now when it sounds like he’s in the clear. Doug III talks about how determined Julie is to prove the necklace was stolen. Holly feels that doesn’t mean she’s going to find out it was him. Doug III worries that the clock is ticking and if Julie is going to find out, it has to come from him before someone else gets to her first…

Julie tells Tate that it’s kind of him to reach out but Melinda Trask has already denied the allegations about her stealing the necklace as she said she bought it legally and the police are not going to arrest her. Tate clarifies that she’s not who he is talking about as Melinda is not lying when she said she didn’t steal it, someone else did, so Julie asks who did. Tate then informs Julie that it was Doug Williams.

Holly asks Doug III to wait until he gets the necklace back, so she might go easy on him then. He doesn’t see how he can get it back, feeling he’s out of options and time. He says this is his fault, so he will take the fall for it alone and promises not to mention her. Holly says she’s more worried about him and Julie since she really cares about him and this could really hurt her. Doug III thinks it could hurt her more to hear it from someone else and feels he owes her this much. Holly tells him that he’s very brave if he goes through with this. He says he’s just trying to make things right. Holly feels there’s a chance Julie might be impressed by his honesty. Doug III declares either way, this is what he has to do and thanks Holly for her help with everything. Holly wishes him luck as they hug.

Julie questions Tate telling her that Doug’s own grandson stole the necklace. Tate confirms that’s exactly what he’s saying. Julie refuses to believe it and doesn’t understand how he could say that. Tate is sorry as he doesn’t want to upset her but thinks she should know the truth and the truth is that Doug Williams stole the necklace. Julie asks how he knows that. Tate responds that Doug III told him that he did. Tate says he has to go and he’s really sorry about this as he hangs up.

Marlena tells Brady that they are in the city where the ISA last stationed John but he could be anywhere at all. Brady encourages her to get some rest. Marlena says it’s early there and Steve has already gone out to follow some leads. Brady tells her to keep him posted and says they will find John. Brady tells Marlena that he loves her as they hang up. Steve then comes to Marlena’s door, so she asks if he had any luck.

Melinda questions how EJ got rid of Kristen’s mother and why. Kristen explains that she apparently let it slip to EJ that she was getting an immunity deal t take him down. Kristen blames herself for thinking she could just tell her to stay in her room instead of taking her out of the house. Kristen complains that now they don’t have anyone to testify against EJ.

EJ tells Ava that he admires her determination, but they both know why that’s not going to happen. EJ warns Ava that if she spills on him, Rachel will be taken away from Brady and Kristen while all the blame would go to Ava. EJ adds that he has it on very good authority that Rachel Blake has been removed from the equation which Ava questions. EJ says she won’t be stepping foot in Salem for quite awhile. Ava is glad she won’t have to worry about Rachel Blake breaking in to her room with a kitchen knife. EJ asks if that’s a thank you. Ava knows he did it to save his own skin. Ava warns that EJ might feel safe now and she might not be able to testify against him, but that doesn’t mean she can’t get justice in other ways. EJ questions her sounding very confident. Brady then interrupts and says he was just coming to see Ava. Brady questions what’s going on here. EJ says their business is concluded and walks away. Brady asks Ava what that was all about. Ava says that EJ was just gloating because he knows she can’t touch him regarding his part in her kidnapping, unless she wants Rachel’s parents taken away from her. Brady repeats that he’s sorry that she had to deal with any of this. Ava says it is what is. Brady asks if they can go upstairs and talk, but Ava doesn’t think there’s anything left to talk about.

Melinda questions Kristen having no clue where Rachel Blake is now. Kristen confirms that EJ is stonewalling her and nothing gives him more pleasure than having the upper hand. Kristen complains that she just got her mother back and EJ takes her away from her. Kristen declares there is no way in hell that he’s going to get away with this. Melinda admits it’s malicious even for EJ, but he does have the upper hand now, so she can’t see how they can take it back. Kristen responds that there might be a way to force EJ’s hand.

Marlena asks Steve if there’s any word on John. Steve says not yet, but he doesn’t want her to worry as he has contacts that will put him in touch with some of the locals that John worked with before he went missing. Steve says they could hear from them tomorrow and suggests they rest up today, then hit the ground running in the morning. Marlena says that’s exactly what Brady said, but she came all this way to find her husband and she will not leave until she finds him. Steve hugs her and says he knows.

Holly returns to Tate which surprises him. Tate asks if something happened with Doug III and if she’s okay. Holly responds that she’s more than fine now that she’s no longer in danger to being an accomplice to the whole necklace situation. Tate asks how she can be sure. Holly informs him that Doug III promised to keep her name out of it when he finally confesses to Julie today.

Julie sits with a framed photo of her and Doug, questioning how this could have happened. Doug III then comes in and asks if something is wrong. Julie responds that something is very wrong. He asks if it’s about the necklace. Julie confirms that it is and reminds him of how upset she was when they walked in and saw Melinda wearing the necklace. Julie says it reminded her of the day they buried Doug because that day, someone came in to the house and stole the necklace. Julie explains it being a family treasure and how Alice was the matriarch of the whole Horton family, but somebody decided to turn the necklace in to money. Julie doesn’t understand how somebody could do something like that. Julie then says maybe Doug III knows. He asks what she means. Julie then reveals that she knows he stole the necklace.

Tate questions Holly telling him that Doug III is confessing to Julie today when he thought he was going to wait until he got the necklace back. Holly guesses he changed his mind since he knew Julie was going to find out one way or another, so he figured it would be best coming from him. Tate tells Holly there’s something she should know.

Julie repeats to Doug III that she knows he stole the necklace. He asks how. She asks if it matters and if he’s going to deny it. Doug III then admits that it was him that took the necklace and says he was coming here to tell her now. Julie argues that it had been missing for months and he’d been living in the house for months. Julie mocks it being a coincidence that he was coming to confess on the night she found out. Julie questions believing him after all the lies he told her. Julie says when he first showed up, everyone in the family was suspicious of him but not her. Julie adds that she accused her own brother of taking the necklace while Doug III stood there and said nothing. Julie accuses him of taking advantage of her in the darkest hour of her life while she was at Doug’s grave site. Julie screams at Doug III to stop lying to her and orders him to pack his things and get out of her house.

Steve ordered room service but Marlena isn’t sure she has an appetite. Steve encourages Marlena to keep up her strength, noting that he would catch hell from John if she got sick on his watch. Marlena says they wouldn’t want that. Marlena sits down and talks about all the times she and John have been in danger or trouble, somehow they knew what the other was feeling and they knew they would always find their way back to each other no matter what.

Brady asks Ava if this is about Kristen’s mother coming after her again. Ava says it’s not and that EJ said she doesn’t need to worry about Rachel Blake ever again because according to him, she has been removed from the equation. Brady notes that Kristen won’t be happy about that but says it’s good for them since Ava doesn’t have to worry about her getting in their way. Ava points out that she would still have to worry about his daughter. Ava is certain their relationship won’t survive the blast when Kristen goes on the warpath. Brady says he can talk to Rachel and Kristen, but he’s tired of people interfering in their relationship. Ava feels no matter how hard they try, something is always coming between them and she can’t do it anymore. Ava tells Brady that she thinks they should stop seeing each other.

Melinda tells Kristen that she can’t be serious about taking it that far. Kristen feels she doesn’t have a choice. EJ returns home and asks a choice about what. Kristen says they were just talking about him as she was just telling Melinda how he managed to kidnap her mother and now he’s going to give her back to her. EJ asks why he would do that. Kristen responds that she will make EJ the new CEO of DiMera Enterprises. Kristen explains that she’s willing to step down and recommend him as her replacement. EJ asks what makes her think the board would listen. Kristen says she can be very persuasive. EJ doesn’t buy it as she would never give up that job when being CEO means everything to her. Kristen says it doesn’t mean as much as her mother. EJ argues that she lived without her for years while Kristen argues that she thought she was dead. Kristen asks why EJ is hesitating when this is his ideal scenario as he wins and she loses while it will only cost him giving her mother back safe and sound. Kristen feels it’s a small price to pay for a huge victory. Kristen asks EJ if they have a deal.

Brady asks if Ava really has her mind made up. Ava confirms she has and she knows it’s not great timing when he has so much going on with Tate and John missing. Ava says she’s so sorry about all of that but she has to protect herself. Brady argues that she just said Kristen’s mom won’t be an issue. Ava clarifies that she meant protecting her heart from him which Brady questions. Ava tells Brady that she really likes him but she has a sinking feeling that no matter how hard they try, it’s going to end badly and she can’t afford to have fallen for him more than she already has.

Steve begins eating the breakfast and points out Marlena hardly taking a bite. Marlena brings up all the times she and John saved each other over the years. Marlena recalls when Megan held her captive and everyone thought she was dead until John and Steve found her on the Greek island. Steve says they didn’t track her down as they technically didn’t know she was there. Marlena encourages that Steve and Kayla do this all the time and sense what’s going on with the other person. Steve calls that their love. Marlena brings up Hattie having her committed to Bayview where John was in the room right next to her, so they found their way back to each other. Steve promises to do everything he can to make sure Marlena and John are together again.

Tate wants Holly to know that he was not out to get Doug III and he was just worried about Holly getting dragged in to all of this. Holly assures that he doesn’t have to worry about that anymore since Doug III promised to keep her name out of it. Holly says she helped Doug III out in a bad time and now he’s going to look out for her. Holly insists that Doug III really is a good guy and she hopes Julie can see that too.

Julie tells Doug III again to get out of her house. He tries to explain but she yells that she will call JJ to have the police escort him out, so Doug III then agrees to leave and heads upstairs to pack.

After Steve leaves, Marlena remains alone in her room and thinks back to when she and John reunited in Bayview. Marlena declares that she’s now reaching out to John and pleads for him to reach out to her.

Ava tells Brady that it’s getting late so Brady tells her that he’ll let her head back inside. Ava adds that she doesn’t regret a second of their time together and hopes he doesn’t either as she kisses him on the cheek and then goes on in to the Pub.

Holly tells Tate that she should get home, so they can finish their movie another night. Holly knows it’s a really tough time with Sophia’s pregnancy, Kimberly being sick, and John missing. Holly assures that she’s there for him and she loves him. Tate says he loves her too as they hug.

Doug III returns to the living room with his bag packed and tells Julie that he knows it was an unforgivable thing to do to steal the necklace, but he was desperate and stupid, so he made a terrible mistake. He adds that there’s no excuse for what he did and that he should’ve told her after she took him in. Doug III admits he was just scared and says he really is sorry as he calls getting to know her the happiest time of his life. He understands if she never wants to see him again. Julie ignores him the whole time, so he exits the house as Julie then breaks down crying.

EJ admits CEO is a very tempting offer, but he must decline which Kristen questions. EJ doesn’t trust her not to pull some trick to deny him the position. Kristen argues that she wouldn’t take a risk with her mother on the line. EJ complains that Rachel Blake would be free to blab about his illegal escapades. EJ declares that her silence is far too valuable for him to even consider letting her step foot in Salem. EJ decides they have nothing left to say to each other. EJ exits as Kristen shouts that this isn’t over as she will get her mother back and make him pay.

Tate and Holly watch a movie together and they end up kissing. Holly decides to pause the movie as they continue kissing.

Gabi walks through the town square when she gets a text from JJ, asking if she’s up for a candlelight dinner.

At the police station, Julie informs JJ that she finished the paper work for the police report and tells JJ that he can now go arrest Melinda Trask.

At the Bistro, Doug III wishes Melinda would just let him buy the necklace back from her and questions why she’d want to keep it after Julie saw it. Melinda argues that she’s done nothing wrong and repeats that if the police question her, she will have no choice but to point them in the direction of the actual thief. Leo arrives and greets them. Leo then spots the necklace on Melinda and questions her being the one who bought it. Melinda asks what Leo knows about it.

Chad goes to Cat’s apartment and knocks on the door, but hears her scream inside. Chad bursts in as he thought she was being attacked, but she was mad about the baseball game that she was watching. Cat explains that she takes the Royals very seriously. Chad complains that she was going to give him a heart attack but he came to talk about the fundraiser. Cat asks what’s going on. Chad informs her that they might have a problem.

Gabi goes home where a candlelight dinner is set up and she comments on JJ doing all of this. Javi comes in and asks about it, so Gabi tells him about the message she got from JJ but she doesn’t know how he got in to set it up. Javi says he hasn’t seen him but assures that he and Leo will make themselves scarce. Gabi thanks him as Javi says it’s the least he could do, apologizing for how he ambushed her with Leo moving in. Gabi apologizes too for the hard time she gave him over it. Gabi says given Leo’s history, she hopes he doesn’t break Javi’s heart. Javi assures that is not going to happen. Gabi asks if he’s sure about that because with Leo, there always seems to be a stupid scheme that he’s involved in.

Melinda remarks that she’s not surprised that Leo is mixed up in all of this and asks if he helped Doug III steal the necklace. Doug III tells Leo that Melinda knows everything. Leo explains that he was just the middle man as Doug III was going through a tough time, but Melinda purchased stolen goods. Melinda argues that she didn’t know it was stolen and she’s sick of being called a criminal. Leo suggests she sell it back to Doug III, so they can put it all behind them and return the necklace to it’s rightful owner.

JJ tells Julie that filing the police report was an important first step, but they have to find proof that it is the stolen necklace. Julie argues that she recognized it immediately. JJ says she only saw it for a brief time while before that, the last time the necklace was seen was sixty years ago. Julie brings up all the other people that were there when they opened the time capsule including Ciara, Lucas, Shawn, Hope, and her brother Steve, who can all confirm it was Alice’s necklace. JJ says if they are able to do that, it will definitely help the case. Julie decides to text them the picture that she took of Melinda wearing the necklace and declares then they can nail that thief.

Leo and Doug III tell Melinda that he will give her back what she paid for the necklace. Melinda complains that Doug III already tried this with Holly but it would be paid back in installments over years, so she refuses to sell the necklace back to him.

Holly comments that it’s been a long time since she and Tate have just been able to be together. Tate blames himself for being a jealous jerk about Doug III. Holly admits she wasn’t happy about the adoption falling through and threw a tantrum. Tate calls it great news that the adoption might be back on. Tate adds that he had some other great news as he informs Holly that no one is going to be home for hours so he asks if she wants to take this to his bedroom. Holly says she would love to but she’s dying of thirst, so Tate goes to get them more drinks.

Doug III thanks Leo but says he’s wasting time since Melinda won’t listen to reason and Julie is filing a police report as they speak. Leo argues that Melinda handing the necklace over would solve everyone’s problems. Melinda argues that it would solve Doug’s problems but not her problems as she would lose the money she paid for it and the necklace. Leo asks that Melinda keep Doug III’s name out of it if the police do question her. Melinda questions why she would do Leo a favor and why he’s so protective of Doug III. Leo responds that he is his friend and he’s not a bad kid, he just got caught up in something he shouldn’t have and got in over his head, like they all have. Leo argues that Melinda could get herself out of this without implicating Doug III and warns that it would be better for her if she did. Melinda asks if he’s threatening her. Leo responds that he might write an expose on a former district attorney wearing stolen merchandise. Melinda points out that it’s stolen merchandise that Leo helped fence so he’d be implicated as well and warns him to think twice about writing that article.

Javi tells Gabi that he’s heard all about Leo’s past and Gabi’s concerns, but he wants to assure her that their eyes are wide open. Javi adds that he’s not perfect either but he can’t help how he feels. Gabi says she heard Javi loves him but didn’t hear Leo say he loves him back. Javi confirms that Leo did say it after she left and that means a lot. Gabi remarks that Leo has a stone where his heart should be. Javi jokes that he’s heard the same said about her but he knows she’s soft. Javi asks Gabi to cut Leo some slack for him in hopes that he may have finally found true love. Gabi says she may never be a fan of Leo, but Javi is her cousin and she loves and supports him as they hug.

JJ tells Julie that she’s welcome to stay at the police station but if she wants to go home and relax, she can just let him know when someone responds to her text. Julie responds that she’ll relax when Melinda is in custody. Julie then gets a text back from Jennifer, saying she’s not positive but it sure looks like Alice’s necklace. Julie feels that should be enough to bring Melinda in for questioning. JJ agrees to give her a call.

Doug III appreciates what Leo is trying to do for him but he’s sure Leo has places to be, so he’ll figure this out. Leo knows Melinda doesn’t owe him a favor or think very highly of him, but insists that Doug III is a good guy who made a stupid mistake and is just trying to make things right. Leo asks Melinda to think about what he said as he goes to get his takeout. Melinda asks Doug III if he has anything else or if she can go on with her evening. Doug III points out that the police haven’t reached out yet. Melinda then gets a call from JJ and says she’ll come down right away as she just wants to get this over with.

Chad informs Cat the the entertainment for the hospital fundraiser flaked out at the last minute so he called every musician and magician but he’s been turned down. Cat says it’s fine as she’s got them covered. Chad asks how. Cat jokes about him not trusting her and explains that she knows a booker and will text her now. Chad decides if she’s got it, he’ll take off then. Cat stops him and says she cooked a lot of hot dogs while Felicity bailed on her to study, so she asks Chad to take a hot dog or two for the road. Chad questions her going all out for a spring training game. Cat explains that it was a family tradition but she hadn’t watched a game since before her parents’ accident. Cat apologizes for turning it in to her pity party. Chad understands that she spent years recovering and then Clyde took even more years from her life. Chad still doesn’t understand why Clyde picked her. Cat says she doesn’t know as she had never heard of Clyde but guesses he knew them. Chad wishes he and Clyde never crossed paths. Cat thinks he meant them and says she doesn’t blame him.

Holly pulls out her phone as Tate returns with waters for them. Holly then gets a text from Doug III, wanting her to call him. Tate tells her to ignore it but Holly points out that he says it’s an emergency.

Gabi wonders what’s keeping JJ. Javi guesses he’s stuck in traffic but that will give him time to text Leo not to come home. Leo then comes home with takeout from the Bistro. Javi tells Leo that JJ set up a candlelight dinner for he and Gabi so they can have their takeout somewhere else, but Leo reveals that he set up the table for them.

Melinda goes to the police station and tells JJ that he has absolutely nothing on her. Julie argues that they have the police report and the photo she took of her which she sent to Jennifer, who said it was Alice’s necklace. Melinda mocks that being evidence and asks if they are done here. JJ says Melinda may not have broken in to Julie’s house but asks if she has any knowledge of who did take Julie’s necklace.

Chad tells Cat that he wasn’t talking about them and he thinks it’s amazing that they can be civil and work together. Cat gets a text back from her friend and informs Chad that they got a band which excites them. Cat tells Chad that she will get his hot dogs for the road and mentions how her brother Aaron usually has half of them. Chad asks how Aaron is doing in Vancouver. Cat admits things aren’t progressing with their mom like they hoped as Aaron planned to go to college in the summer, but says they will figure it out. Chad tells her to let him know if there’s anything he can do to help. Cat thanks him and wishes there was.

Melinda repeats that she has no direct knowledge regarding the theft of the necklace as she bought it in a legal transaction, so he has no cause to hold her. Melinda then walks out of the police station. Julie asks JJ if Melinda can just walk out like that. JJ says Melinda is a lawyer so she knows her stuff and he has to go by the book. JJ promises Julie that this is not over. Julie says not by a long shot.

Leo explains to Javi that he wanted to show him his appreciation for letting him move in. Gabi questions him not showing her appreciation. Leo mocks Gabi for not making him feel wanted but acknowledges he was being a jerk. Leo states that he’s grateful to be here, keep a very low profile, and not do anything to upset them. Gabi gets a call from JJ, who asks if she got his text. Gabi confirms that she did but then she got a work call. Gabi tells JJ that she’s free and would love to get out of the house, so she agrees to meet JJ at the Bistro. Javi tells Gabi to enjoy her date. Leo thanks Gabi and apologizes for his sarcasm. Gabi then exits. Leo promises Javi that he will try harder with Gabi. Javi thinks she will eventually come around as she’s just protective of him. Leo vows to prove to Gabi that what they have is real and all he wants is for Javi to be happy and feel loved. Javi says the same as they kiss. They talk about the candlelight dinner. Javi can’t believe Leo did all this for him as they kiss again.

Holly tells Tate that she’s sorry. Tate tells her to call Doug III if it’s an emergency. Holly thanks him for understanding and calls Doug III. Holly asks what’s going on and if he’s okay. Doug III says he’s fine and asks if he’s not interrupting anything. Holly says it’s fine and asks what’s going on. Doug III informs her that Julie saw Melinda wearing the necklace at the Bistro and Julie confronted her but Melinda didn’t give him up. Doug III adds that Julie went to file a police report and Melinda was just called in for questioning. Doug III doesn’t know what she’s going to say but he wanted to give Holly a heads up that her name may come up. He says he’s so sorry as he didn’t want her to get dragged in to this. Holly responds that she’s more worried about him. Doug III hopes she doesn’t name either of them but thinks they need a plan in case she does. Doug III asks Holly to meet him in the park so they can make sure they are on the same page if the police question them. Holly agrees to be right there, upsetting Tate.

Leo and Javi sit down for their candlelight dinner and talk about having their favorites. Leo pours them wine and toasts to them and their future. Leo brings up when Dimitri broke his heart and how he thought he would never find love again, so he feels like the luckiest man in the world. Javi responds that he’s pretty damn lucky himself as they hold hands.

Gabi meets JJ at the Bistro. JJ apologizes for being so last minute as work has been crazy. Gabi says the same. JJ felt they deserve a night out. Gabi agrees and asks about his plans with Julie falling through. JJ explains that Julie had a necklace that was stolen on the day of Doug’s memorial and it’s been driving her crazy trying to figure out who took it, then when they came here for dinner, Melinda Trask was wearing it. Gabi asks if Melinda stole it. JJ calls it a bit more complicated than that but he promised Julie they would get it back. JJ then admits he’s not sure they ever will.

Doug III goes to the park and calls Julie to see how it went at the police station with Melinda. Julie responds that it did not go well as Melinda stonewalled them since she knew the police couldn’t hold her, so she didn’t tell them a thing. Doug III says he’s sorry but maybe she really doesn’t know anything. Julie declares that Melinda knows something and she’s going to find out what it is if it’s the last thing she does.

Tate questions Holly leaving and argues that he knew Doug III was going to get her in trouble and now the police are involved. Tate questions how she got dragged in to this anyway. Holly explains that she was there when Doug III tried to get the necklace back from Melinda but she doesn’t think Melinda will say her name. Tate complains that Doug III stole the necklace from his dead Grandfather’s wife and that he kept telling her he was trouble. Holly shouts that it’s not that simple. Tate says this is not just him being jealous or upset that he ruined their romantic evening as he’s genuinely worried about her. Holly responds that she’s worried too, so Tate tells her not to go and argues that Doug III is the only reason she’s in this mess in the first place. Tate warns that the more she hangs out with Doug III, the more she’s going to get dragged in to trouble and he doesn’t want to see her throw away her future for some guy who is not even worth it. Holly responds that she’s sorry but she has to go and rushes out, leaving Tate upset.

Cat tells Chad that she talked to Stephanie about putting more PR out there for the bachelor auction. Cat then gets distracted by the baseball game and excitedly cheers about a home run. Cat then worries about being loud while Felicity is studying for a test in her room. Cat brings up Felicity trying to push them together the other day and hopes that didn’t make Chad uncomfortable. Cat says she wishes she wouldn’t do that but Chad asks if she really wishes that.

Gabi tells JJ that she’s not totally shocked since she knows what a hard ass Melinda can be. JJ is just glad she’s not district attorney anymore. JJ suggests they talk about something else. Gabi brings up her new line at Gabi Chic or the weather. JJ says he’s just glad to be here with her and he thinks they should make nights like this a regular thing for them. Gabi says she would really like that, so JJ says it’s a deal as they toast to them.

Leo and Javi toast again. Javi points out that the food is going to get cold. Leo suggests they can heat it up later while they go to heat things up in their room.

Chad tells Cat that Felicity loves her and wants her to be happy and she thinks Cat would be happy if they were together. Cat insists that she did not put that idea in her head and she fully understands why Chad can’t return her previous feelings she had. Cat then remembers to go get his hot dogs. Cat goes to bring the hot dogs to him but Chad gets excited by a home run and Cat accidentally spills mustard from the hot dogs all over Chad’s shirt. Chad says it’s okay and that he will see her tomorrow as he then exits, leaving Cat wondering what’s wrong with her.

Holly meets Doug III in the park. He tells Holly that he just talked to Julie and it turns out that Melinda didn’t mention their names to the cops. Holly is relieved and asks if they are in the clear. Doug III says he’s not sure about that since Julie also said she won’t rest until she finds out who took the necklace. Doug III declares that Melinda didn’t say anything, but he’s starting to think maybe he should.

Tate declares that he’s sorry but this is for Holly’s own good as he calls Julie. Tate tells Julie that he heard about her Grandmother’s missing necklace and he has some information about who took it.

Doug III sits in the living room of the Horton house with Doug’s book of love poems. He thinks back to confessing his feelings to Holly until Julie comes in and asks if he’s thinking about his Grandfather.

Holly goes to see Tate at home. Holly mentions hearing Tate’s mom was released from prison. Tate confirms it was a total surprise. Holly says it must have been a relief to see her and she figured she should come see her since the last time she saw her was prom. Tate says that’s sweet of her but informs her that Theresa just left town.

Rafe runs in to JJ in the town square. JJ says it’s good to see him. Rafe tells JJ that he just missed Gabi as she went back to work which JJ questions since she’s usually off by now. Rafe guesses she’s trying to take her mind off things. JJ says that makes sense since it’s killing her that EJ is a free man after what he did to Rafe. JJ declares that he won’t rest until they bring that bastard to justice. Rafe appreciates that and hopes that tonight, JJ can get some sleep because he and Jada followed and a lead and hope they have the means to nail EJ.

Kristen accepts Jada’s offer and says she will have her mother tell her everything she knows, but she will have a lawyer look over it first. Jada says she’s not going to get a better offer. Kristen says she wants to make sure there are no loopholes. Jada warns her not to take too long because the clock is ticking and the second they get enough evidence to put EJ away, the offer is null and void and then Kristen’s mother and brother can kiss their freedom goodbye. Kristen says as soon as Melinda confirms the agreement is ironclad, she’s sure her mother will be happy to take EJ down.

EJ guesses Kristen is brokering an immunity deal for her mother. Rachel Blake explains that if she tells the cops what she knows, they won’t send her away and it’s not Kristen’s fault that she’s responsible for her. EJ thanks her for the warning. EJ then opens the safe and pulls out the syringe, declaring that Rachel Blake won’t be testifying against anyone because once he injects her with this serum, she won’t remember seeing him or Rafe in her old house or much of anything.

Julie comments that she’s always catching Doug III with the poetry book in his hand. Doug III says he likes reading the little notes like getting to know Doug. Julie says she loves talking about Doug, so he can ask her anything. Doug III guesses he would ask Doug for advice on how to talk to girls because he’s always stumbling over his words. Julie thinks he would tell him there’s lots of ways to tell a girl you love her without words, like a touch, a melody, and dancing together. Julie talks about how she and Doug would dance around the room and they would always try out new restaurants. Julie mentions the last one being the Bistro which Doug III says he hasn’t tried yet. Julie adds that she hasn’t been back there since Doug passed away, so she asks Doug III to take her to the Bistro for dinner which he says would be amazing.

Holly questions Theresa leaving town. Tate explains that she went to California to be with his Grandmother Kimberly. Holly asks when she will be back, but Tate says she’s planning on staying there for awhile because Kimberly’s leukemia came back and they just found out. Holly says she’s so sorry and hugs him.

Rafe goes to see Jada in her office and asks if she can sneak out for dinner. Jada says she would love to, but she’s not sure she should leave the office now because Kristen was just there and she secured Rachel Blake’s testimony. Rafe says it sounds like EJ is in big trouble then.

EJ tells Rachel Blake that thanks to the syringe, his troubles will soon be over. Rachel Blake guesses that’s what he gave Rafe and now she won’t remember either which EJ confirms. EJ says if she won’t be quiet, he will have to give her a nudge. Rachel Blake promises she won’t say anything but EJ says it can’t hurt to be sure of that.

Holly tells Tate that she’s so sorry that he and his family are going through all of this and asks if he wants to talk about it. Tate says there isn’t much else to say. Holly says she’s there if he needs anything. Tate questions why she’s being so nice to him. Holly asks what he means, reminding him that she loves him. Tate thought she was angry with him after their fight where he said all those things about her friend Doug III.

Doug III and Julie walk through the town square. Julie talks about being so happy to get back to the Bistro, but she feels sorry for everybody at home having leftovers. They run in to JJ, so Julie invites him to join them at the Bistro which he accepts. Julie calls herself lucky as she walks off with both of them.

Rafe and Jada say it must be their lucky day. Jada says she knew Kristen would accept the deal because she would do anything to protect her mother. Jada doesn’t see why Rachel Blake wouldn’t sign the agreement to stay out of prison. Jada adds that Kristen just had to get over being loyal to EJ, so she thinks it’s a done deal after Melinda looks over the deal which shouldn’t take long. Rafe guesses they are just waiting for Melinda to come through for them then.

Kristen goes to see Melinda at the Bistro and gives her the agreement for Rachel Blake for her to look over, explaining that they will overlook Rachel Blake’s crimes in exchange for testimony against EJ.

EJ injects Rachel Blake with the syringe and says in a moment, she won’t remember anything. EJ says normally, he would have limited the amount but he had to give her the full dose, so if she has anything important to tell Kristen, she should probably tell him now. She calls him a spineless, self serving snake. She then stops and asks who is Kristen. EJ notes that was fast.

Rafe tells Jada that it’s nice seeing her back in the office and things getting back to normal after Arnold screwed things up, so now Jada is back where she belongs and putting the bad guys behind bars, starting with EJ. Jada asks if he doesn’t miss his old office. Rafe talks about being the scrappy investigator engaged to the ruthless and gorgeous police commissioner, so he could not be happier. Rafe then says the one thing that would make him happier is to make her his wife.

Kristen asks Melinda if Rachel Blake is protected as Jada promised. Melinda admits she didn’t have high expectations but it looks like everything is in order and calls it a great deal for Rachel Blake but a heartbreak for EJ, so she can go ahead and tell her mother to testify and sign it. Julie then arrives with JJ and Doug III. Julie is shocked to see Melinda is wearing her grandmother’s necklace.

Rachel Blake begins to question who she is and who EJ is. EJ tells her not to get worked up. She doesn’t understand how she got here and asks what’s going on. EJ then points out that she said his name and notes that her pupils aren’t dialated. She guesses his magic potion didn’t work out after all then and reveals that she still remembers everything, leaving EJ shocked.

Holly admits that she was upset and a little ticked off. Tate says she had every right to be and he knew he was picking a fight by insulting Doug III. Tate then admits that he was jealous and that he’s felt like she’s been slipping away from him, so he was afraid of losing her to Doug III.

Rafe tells Jada that he never really made any plans for their wedding other than agreeing to do it on his birthday. Jada responds that she made a lot of plans and made it all the way to the altar. Rafe hates that Arnold ruined the day for her and calls him a son of a bitch. Jada says the day was already ruined by Rafe not being there. Rafe repeats that he’s so sorry. Jada recalls telling Javi to get the ring back from Arnold, but she thinks he still has it, so she’s sorry that Arnold has Rafe’s family heirloom. Rafe says with any luck, they will find Arnold and the ring, but if they don’t then he will just get her a new one. Rafe declares that the important thing is making her Mrs. Rafe Hernandez as they kiss.

Julie approaches Melinda and questions where she got her diamond necklace. Kristen tells Melinda that she’ll be in touch and exits. Melinda asks what is going on and why Julie is so interested in her necklace. Julie responds that it’s Alice Horton’s necklace and was stolen from the Horton house on the day of her husband’s memorial. Melinda says she must be mistaken but Julie insists that she’s wearing stolen property and demands that she gives it back. Melinda refuses to give it back. Julie calls it incredible that she’s a thief and instructs JJ to arrest Melinda. Melinda warns that he won’t want to do that.

Holly insists to Tate that there’s nothing going on between her and Doug III and that they are just friends. Tate points out that ever since finding out Sophia was pregnant, it seems like she’s always turning to Doug III. Holly says she just needs to vent, so Tate asks why she can’t do that with him. Holly complains that it feels like they barely get to see each other anymore and every time they do, it’s getting interrupted. Holly knows that Tate has to be there for Sophia, but says there’s always some crisis with the baby going on. Tate is sorry that this situation has gotten in the way of them spending time together. Holly says it’s not his fault but it sucks for everyone. Tate encourages that it’s not always going to be that way. Holly brings up the adoption falling through but Tate informs her that Paulina smoothed things over with Sophia’s mom, so the adoption may be back on but the major sticking point for Amy is EJ.

EJ doesn’t understand since he gave Rachel Blake a full dose of CRS-17. Rachel Blake reveals that she’s been keeping an eye on EJ since she came to the house and she saw him take the syringe from the safe the other day. EJ accuses her of spying on him. She explains that when she understood his plan to erase her memories, she took the syringe from the safe when he wasn’t looking. She suggests changing the safe combination from Stefano’s birthday. EJ asks what she did with the real syringe. She reveals that she dumped it outside on the tree and now he’s all out of CRS-17, so it seems she will be testifying against him after all. EJ admits he must have underestimated her, but says he’ll just move on to plan B. EJ remarks that he is Stefano’s son and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Holly tells Tate that she wouldn’t worry about EJ as he knows when to turn on the charm. Holly knows EJ isn’t everyone’s favorite person, but says when he and Nicole were on and off together, she started to see why EJ always gets second and third chances. Tate hopes Amy will see things that way. Holly points out that it will be Johnny and Chanel raising the baby. Tate reminds Holly of when she had a crush on Johnny. Holly calls that a million years ago and says she can’t believe Tate put up with her back then. Tate says he was head over heels for her. Holly is glad she finally came to her senses and that they had this talk. Holly admits she didn’t come just to talk to Theresa, as she wanted to make sure they were okay after their fight. Tate says he knows. Holly says she needs to get back home for dinner as she told Maggie she’d be back but Tate asks her to change plans, pointing out that she said they never get to spend time together and it’s spring break. Tate suggests they hang out, watch a movie, and order a pizza which Holly says sounds perfect, so she texts Maggie.

Julie questions why JJ shouldn’t arrest Melinda when she’s wearing stolen property. Melinda argues that the necklace could just look like her Grandmother’s and asks why she’d be wearing a stolen necklace around town from someone who lives in town. JJ asks Melinda if she can tell him who sold her the necklace. Melinda questions JJ interrogating her in the middle of the Bistro. JJ says he’s just trying to figure this out. Melinda responds that she bought it from a private, trusted jeweler, adding that it was not stolen and she never broke in to Julie’s house. Julie admits that she never reported the necklace as stolen because at the time, she was afraid that someone in the family stole it but she knows better now. Julie says she never filed a police report. Melinda tells them to back away from her table and let her enjoy her martini. JJ tells Julie that they can go to the police station now if she wants to file a police report now. Julie says she wants to do that more than anything. Julie takes a photo of Melinda wearing the necklace on her phone and then exits with JJ while Doug III stays behind.

Rafe brings Jada coffee in her office. Jada informs him that as soon as he left the room, Kristen called and said that Melinda gave her the go ahead, so Kristen is on her way to the DiMera Mansion to have her mother sign the agreement now.

Kristen goes home to the DiMera Mansion and greets EJ in the living room, then questions where her mother went. EJ claims that all he knows is that she’s gone. Kristen question what he means. EJ responds that she left the house but didn’t say where she was headed, so she probably just needed a change of scenery and will be fine. Kristen then says “damn you, EJ.”

JJ brings Julie to the police station where Julie tells him that December 2nd was the last time she saw the necklace before seeing it on Melinda’s neck tonight. Julie explains that on December 2nd, Ciara had just opened the time capsule and before they went to Doug’s memorial, she put the necklace back in the time capsule but when they got back, it was gone. JJ goes over the only people that knew about it and asks if anyone talked about it after they left. Julie assures that they didn’t as they were all thinking about Doug. Julie questions how Melinda got her hands on it.

Melinda asks if Doug III isn’t going to follow the parade to the police station. Melinda remarks that since Doug III let her incur Julie’s wrath, he could at least buy her a drink. Doug III responds that he doesn’t exactly have any money. Melinda can’t believe she forgot about that. Melinda hopes that Julie’s police report gets thrown in a drawer and forgotten about. Melinda adds that it doesn’t look like Julie has any proof, so he might be in the clear, but if the police came after her, she won’t have any choice but to tell them who really stole the necklace.

Tate and Holly watch a movie together and they end up kissing.

Jada hopes Rafe isn’t too hungry since he wanted to get dinner earlier. Rafe says he’d rather watch Jada hammer the nail in EJ’s coffin. Jada says with any luck, Kristen is having her mother sign the immunity deal as they speak. They toast to finally wiping the smug grin off EJ’s face.

Kristen accuses EJ of lying and demands to know where her mother is. EJ suggests she calm down since it’s not helpful to get hysterical in a crisis situation with no solution at all. EJ then exits the room. Kristen then pulls out the gun her mother had and says like hell there’s nothing she can do about it.

Days of Our Lives Update

Javi and Leo pack Leo’s bags in his room at the Salem Inn. Leo comments on Javi convincing his cousins to let him move in, but Javi reveals he hasn’t exactly told Gabi and Rafe yet.

Gabi goes home where Rafe is looking for leftovers in the fridge. Gabi informs him that she and Jada finished them because they stress eat. Rafe asks what they are stressed about. Gabi complains that EJ kidnapped Rafe and is going to get away with it again.

Paulina meets with Jada in her office at the police station. Paulina assumes there’s another fire to put out since it’s been one thing after another, but Jada informs her that this time is good news as they may have a witness who can testify to what EJ did to Rafe. Paulina excitedly asks if this means Rafe remembers what happened to him. Jada responds that he doesn’t, but Rachel Blake sure does.

Kristen sits in the living room of the DiMera Mansion where she reaches in to her purse and pulls out the gun that her mother had. Her mother then enters the room and asks if Kristen is going to give the gun back to her.

EJ storms in to the Brady Pub to confront Kate about telling Johnny exactly how he was conceived.

Leo questions Javi not telling his cousins that they are moving in together when it’s their house. Leo points out that Gabi hates him and he’s not exactly Rafe’s favorite person. Javi argues that he’s their favorite cousin so all that matters is how happy Leo makes him. Javi insists that it will be fine and gives Leo a key to the house. Javi tells Leo to finish checking out and he will meet him at home as he then exits.

Kristen tells Rachel Blake that they talked about this and she said the gun was a family heirloom. Kristen asks what if she misplaces it which she calls a reasonable concern. Rachel Blake then suggests mounting the gun in the room. Kristen reminds her that her daughter lives there, so it would not be safe to display a firearm. Rachel Blake hopes Kristen doesn’t plan on disposing of the gun as it means a great deal to her. Kristen isn’t sure what she’s going to do with it. Rachel Blake suggests Kristen hang onto it since it is her father’s and you never know when it could come in handy, especially since she’s chosen to live in this viper’s nest. Rachel Blake warns Kristen to sleep with one eye open around any of the awful DiMeras.

Johnny finishes a run in the park and thinks back to Kate telling him about EJ raping Sami. Johnny then pulls out his phone and calls Sami, leaving a message to call him back because he needs to talk to her about EJ.

Kate tells EJ that she didn’t intend to tell Johnny about he and Sami as she didn’t want his whole world to come crashing down around him. EJ complains that Kate wanted to hurt him so bad that Johnny was just collateral damage. Kate explains that Johnny heard EJ was accused of rape, so he came to her because he wanted to hear the whole story. EJ screams that it wasn’t her story to tell. EJ asks where Johnny would have even heard of something that happened decades ago and asks who else would want to hurt him. Kate responds that it just slipped out and that he loves Johnny. Kate tells EJ to drop it but EJ realizes that it was Roman.

Rafe tells Gabi that they don’t know that EJ is going to walk. Gabi doesn’t have faith in Salem’s justice system. Rafe doesn’t blame her after what happened to her last year. Gabi clarifies that she’s talking about the fact that the district attorney is screwing EJ which surprises Rafe. Rafe then realizes it makes sense why Paulina said that Belle recused herself from EJ’s case. Rafe decides he will stop by the police station to see what he can find out. Rafe encourage Gabi that EJ won’t get away this time as he exits.

Kate admits to EJ that it was Roman who told Johnny, but that he immediately tried to walk it back. EJ doesn’t believe it and threatens to go after Roman. Kate reminds EJ that he’s already on thin ice with the police and asks if he wants to add assaulting the former commissioner to his long list of charges. Kate remarks that Roman could still wipe the floor with EJ. EJ doesn’t want to hear another word about what a family man Roman is and declares he will never forgive him for this. Kate calls EJ unbelievable and incapable of taking responsibility for what he’s done. Kate tells EJ that actions have consequences even if they come decades later. Kate says if he’s wondering why this came to light, he can look in the mirror since he hired Arnold Feniger to take over Rafe’s life again.

Rafe finds Johnny in the park. Johnny tells Rafe that it’s good to see him and not Arnold. Johnny says he’s sorry he had to go through all that and asks if he’s okay. Rafe says he wishes he knew how it all went down but he’s fine. Johnny questions if he doesn’t remember anything. Rafe says not after he saw Arnold at the DiMera Mansion. Johnny thinks they both know EJ is responsible. Rafe is surprised that Johnny isn’t giving EJ the benefit of the doubt. Johnny responds that he knows who his father is now and he wishes there was something he could do to help them prove it was EJ who kidnapped Rafe. Rafe assures they are not giving up and if they are able to prove it was EJ, he’s going away for a long time. Johnny responds that after what EJ did to Sami, he’s more than okay with Rafe and Jada bringing him down.

Jada tells Paulina about her and Rafe’s theory that Rafe was being held at Rachel Blake’s home in Aremid, noting they are still trying to put the pieces together. Jada recalls when she followed EJ in to the DiMera tunnels and hearing something but EJ said it was construction while Johnny didn’t know anything about it. Jada figures EJ knew she was on to him, so he moved Rafe somewhere else. Jada argues that there’s no way Rachel Blake wouldn’t have seen Rafe so she could testify against EJ. Paulina argues that she’ll never get another DiMera to turn on another DiMera because that family is like the mob. Jada points out that Rachel Blake is not a DiMera and her life was destroyed by Stefano. Paulina notes that Kristen controls every aspect of her life, so she’ll never drop on EJ without Kristen’s say so. Jada suggests they can offer immunity and there’s no way that Kristen will choose EJ over her own mother.

Kristen reminds her mother that she’s a DiMera, so it’s her family that she’s disparaging. Rachel Blake argues that she is her family and that Kristen is only associated with the DiMeras because of Stefano took her in when her real parents seemed to have died. Kristen argues that Rachel Blake could’ve came back and taken her away at any time but she didn’t. Rachel Blake says she won’t be talked to like this. Kristen apologizes for upsetting her and she is truly grateful that they found each other after all these years, but they cannot get reckless. Kristen brings up that Jada has been asking all sorts of questions. Rachel Blake has no doubt that everything will work out because she knows Kristen will do whatever it takes to protect her because family stick by each other no matter what.

Javi goes home with Leo’s bags and quietly mentions Leo moving in with him but Gabi says over her dead body. Gabi declares there is no way that Leo is living under her roof and calls him a sociopath. Gabi brings up Leo torturing Will and Sonny for years which Javi calls an exaggeration. Javi acknowledges that Leo has done terrible things in the past but he believes people can change. Gabi disagrees and brings up EJ trying to ruin Rafe’s life. Javi argues that Leo is not EJ. Gabi remarks that at least everyone knows EJ is a monster while you never see it coming when Leo screws you over. Gabi complains that Javi is blinded by his meaningless fling with Leo. Javi questions her thinking that’s what this is. Gabi argues that Javi was in town for two seconds before dating Kerry. Javi calls that different and declares that he’s in love with Leo as Leo then opens the door.

Rafe asks Johnny what EJ did to Sami. Johnny clarifies that Sami is in Italy and hasn’t seen EJ in years as far as he knows. Rafe brings up Gabi telling him that she and Jada crashed their lunch, so he knows that Arnold slept with Sami years ago. Johnny argues that he took advantage but that’s not what he meant either. Rafe questions what he’s talking about then and encourages that he can talk to him. Johnny says to Rafe that EJ raped Sami. Rafe realizes Johnny knows about that then. Johnny guesses it’s not news to Rafe. Rafe confirms that he’s known about it since before he married Sami. Johnny questions why Rafe never told him the truth about that.

EJ tells Kate that he had nothing to do with Arnold Feniger this time. Kate argues that everyone knows he’s guilty. EJ says he’s not going to debate this. Kate talks about EJ thinking what he did to Sami would be bury forever, but he tempted fate by working with the other man who assaulted her. EJ argues that he’s nothing like Arnold. Kate says that EJ is worse since Arnold tricked Sami in to sleeping with him but it pales in comparison to what EJ did. Kate complains that EJ was going to let her son die unless Sami had sex with him. Kate shouts that she and Roman will never forgive him. EJ responds that he had it all wrong as he was thinking that Roman was to blame when it was Kate’s doing. EJ accuses Kate of not even trying to deflect when Johnny asked her. EJ guesses this is her getting payback for Lucas after all this time. Kate responds that she’s not as sadistic as him and she got no joy at all from telling Johnny what his father did. Kate says instead of attacking her, he should be thanking her for leaving out the sordid details of the true love story between Sami and EJ. EJ says she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Kate argues that she could’ve told Johnny about the time that EJ was on the run after shooting Sami’s Grandmother’s husband and using Sami as a human shield. Kate adds that EJ has decades of sick and twisted games. EJ doesn’t want to hear it. Kate says the people of Salem have become complacent in accepting EJ in to the fabric of the community and have forgotten who EJ is and what he has done, but she didn’t. EJ screams at her that he has had to live with regret over what he did to Sami for decades. Kate mocks that being difficult for him. EJ tells Kate to hate him if she wants and maybe he deserves it, but Johnny never needed to know the truth. EJ swears that Kate will rue the day that she burdened Johnny with it.

Kristen suggests to her mother that she get some rest and wake up with a fresh perspective. Kristen tells her to go upstairs since there will be no peace and quiet when Rachel gets home from school and she’ll check on her in a bit but Jada arrives and questions where Rachel Blake is going.

Leo says he can come back later but Gabi thinks it’s best that he not come back at all. Leo tells Javi that it’s fine as he knew this wasn’t a good fit and offers to go stay at a motel while looking for an apartment. Javi says he will go pack his things and declares to Gabi that he and Leo are going to live together and if it’s not here, it will be somewhere else. Leo tells Javi that he doesn’t have to do this but Javi declares that he loves Leo, so they are going to live together. Gabi then agrees to let Leo live there, temporarily and conditionally. Gabi clarifies that she’s doing it for Javi, not Leo. Gabi wants to make clear that when her daughter Arianna visits, Leo is gone as he will not be under the same roof as her. Leo says he understands and thanks her. Gabi then adds that if Leo does anything to hurt Javi, he will answer to her. Gabi then exits the house. Javi tells Leo that he told him it will be fine.

Rachel Blake remembers meeting Jada last night in Aremid. Kristen says that’s enough and questions how Jada got in. Jada responds that she flashed her badge and most people cooperate after that. Rachel Blake calls it rude to stop by someone’s house unannounced. Jada talks about trying to find out who kidnapped Rafe and says that she might be able to help her with that. Jada explains that she saw Rachel Blake’s face when she asked if she saw Rafe, so she knows she knows something. Kristen repeats that’s enough and tells Jada to stop harassing her mother. Jada argues that they know EJ kidnapped Rafe so it’s only a matter of time before they prove it. Jada adds that Rachel Blake’s testimony could help move it along and also give her a chance to save herself. Kristen tells Jada to get the hell out of her house. Jada warns that either Rachel Blake cooperates with her investigation or she goes down for aiding and abetting. Kristen argues that she can’t prove anything. Jada declares that she will not give up until EJ is behind bars, so it’s up to Rachel Blake if she wants to join him. Kristen asks Jada if that’s a threat. Jada responds that she doesn’t make threats, she makes promises. Jada asks if their family reunion is going to get cut short or if Kristen will help her bring EJ to justice.

Kate tells EJ that he doesn’t scare her. EJ argues that she spoke of his past and ruined his relationship with his son, so perhaps he should return the favor. Kate says she’s been honest with her children, so she doubts he could tell them anything that could shock them. EJ says there are plenty of other ways to hurt them. Kate tells EJ to get out. EJ remarks that there are so many sons to choose from, bringing up Lucas, Austin, Rex, and says then there’s Philip, who he calls her favorite. Kate warns EJ that if he lays one finger on any of her children, she will kill him, herself. EJ tells Kate that he’ll see her around as he then exits the Pub.

Rafe sits with Johnny in the park and apologizes as he knows he’s hurting, but Johnny was just a kid when he was with Sami and he felt it was her story to tell, not his. Rafe explains that Sami didn’t want them to know and was trying to protect them. Johnny argues that Sami was trying to protect EJ because if she was worried at all, she wouldn’t have married EJ twice. Rafe apologizes as he doesn’t know what to say. Johnny doesn’t know what to think and questions how his mom could build a life and have another child with a man who hurt her like that. Rafe says he can’t speak for Sami so only she can answer that question. Johnny says he just tried calling her, but he doesn’t even know what he expects to hear about something so insane. Rafe points out that Sami is still his mother, so no matter how they feel about the choices she made after, she’s still the victim. Rafe advises Johnny not to go lashing out at Sami. Rafe adds that he doesn’t disagree that he deserves answers and he won’t act like he knows what’s going on with him, but over the years, he had a lot of similar questions. Rafe says what EJ did was like a cloud over them, so when Sami got back with him after their relationship ended, he still doesn’t have the answers. Rafe declares that he knows Sami loves Johnny and his siblings from the bottom of her heart. Rafe suggests they go grab some lunch at the Bistro, but Johnny says he’s going to finish his run as he has a lot to think about. They agree to a rain check as Rafe hugs Johnny. Rafe promises Johnny that he’s not alone in this as he then walks away.

Paulina goes to the Brady Pub and calls out to Kate, asking if everything is alright. Kate responds that it’s not because EJ just threatened her children.

Kristen goes to the police station and calls Melinda, ordering her to drop everything because they are talking about her mother’s freedom. Jada joins her in her office and presents Kristen with an immunity deal, promising that Rachel Blake will not be charged with any crime if she testifies against EJ. Kristen argues that her mother is an elderly woman who had nothing to do with anything EJ may or may not have done. Jada argues that she sat silently while EJ held a kidnapped man in her home and asks if she wants to roll the dice here. Jada asks if Kristen will gamble with her mother’s life. Jada says it’s possible that EJ could walk, but she risks the chance of losing her brother and her mother, so Rachel Blake would have cheated death just to spend her twilight years in a cell. Kristen calls her deplorable. Jada tells Kristen that she is offering her mother’s freedom with a lifeboat and that she’s only asking her to throw EJ overboard.

EJ returns home to the DiMera Mansion and pours a drink, which Rachel Blake notes it’s a little early for. EJ asks where Kristen is. She responds that she’s busy. EJ questions Kristen leaving her unsupervised and calls her an unstable woman. Rachel Blake responds that she’s no longer concerned about Ava as she’s beneath her and notes there’s a much bigger threat to worry about. EJ refers to her as Mother Blake, but she shouts that she’s not his mother, she’s Kristen’s and that Kristen will do anything to keep her safe even if it means EJ finally has to pay for all of his sins.

Rafe runs in to Gabi in the town square. Gabi questions him not answering his phone when she’s been calling and texting him. Rafe apologizes and notes that he had his phone on silent during an important conversation and asks what’s wrong. Gabi reveals that Javi invited Leo to live with them.

Javi offers to show Leo to their room. Leo stops him and asks if he’s sure he wants to do this because he doesn’t want to cause problems between he and his cousins. Javi insists that Gabi was just being overprotective and she will come around. Javi adds that he meant every word he said and tells Leo that he loves him which Leo questions. Javi knows it’s still new so it’s okay if he’s not there. Leo assures that he loves him too as they kiss.

Rafe questions Leo Stark living in his house. Gabi says she tried talking Javi out of it, but he called her bluff and complains about having to look at Leo’s face every morning. Rafe says they will deal with it. Gabi thought he would be fired up and talk some sense in to Javi. Rafe responds that Leo is the least of his worries right now as he got some perspective today which Gabi questions. Rafe explains that Johnny just discovered how he was conceived and that EJ raped his mother. Gabi asks how Johnny is. Rafe says he’s obviously devastated. Gabi remarks that EJ is the gift that keeps on giving.

EJ asks Rachel Blake again where Kristen is. She responds that she shouldn’t have said anything. EJ states that they may not be family, but he still cares deeply for Kristen so her well being is just as important to him. EJ encourages that he can help if she tells him what’s going on. Rachel Blake supposes it’d be easier for Kristen if she had EJ’s blessing. EJ questions where she went. She explains that Kristen followed Jada to the police station, so they are making arrangements to tell the authorities about EJ keeping Rafe in her attic.

Kristen accepts Jada’s offer and says she will have her mother tell her everything she knows, but she will have a lawyer look over it first. Jada warns her not to take too long because the clock is ticking and the second they get enough evidence to put EJ away, the offer is null and void and then Kristen’s mother and brother can kiss their freedom goodbye.

EJ guesses Kristen is brokering an immunity deal for her mother. Rachel Blake explains that if she tells the cops what she knows, they won’t send her away and it’s not Kristen’s fault that she’s responsible for her. EJ thanks her for the warning. EJ then opens the safe and pulls out the syringe, declaring that Rachel Blake won’t be testifying against anyone.
