Xander visited Marlena and talked to her about Sarah and Brady. He was concerned that Brady was trying to take advantage of Sarah. Xander knew that Brady was going through a lot too. He wanted Marlena to tell Brady that he needed time off. Marlena felt more comfortable with Xander doing that himself. He talked about the pain of losing his daughter. She noticed that he was still wearing his wedding ring. Xander couldn’t bring himself to take it off. Brady walked out of his room wearing a towel and bumped into Sarah. She was surprised to see him like that until he got a robe. After Brady got a robe, he talked to Sarah about Rachel. He gave her Rachel’s apology letter. Brady was glad that Rachel wrote the letter. He didn’t think it was enough. Brady couldn’t imagine what he would have done if something happened to her. Sarah grabbed his hand and assured him that he didn’t have to worry. They stared at each other and were about to kiss when Victoria dropped her toys.

Jada talked to Rafe about the missing DiMeras. Things became awkward between them when she told him about the date she was going on with Theo when he disappeared. They talked about EJ being the suspect. Rafe told her that someone was sleeping in the mansion’s secret room. He believed that EJ was holding someone captive or someone was helping him kidnap people. Jada left to get a search warrant. Javi arrived and told Rafe that Gabi helped him design the wedding rings. He told him that Gabi insisted that she had nothing to do with the missing DiMeras. Rafe was reading files when Javi let it slip that Gabi was involved with Tony. Javi begged him not to tell Gabi that he told him about that. Rafe realized the secret gave Gabi a motive. Javi left the house when Gabi arrived. Rafe confronted Gabi about Tony and Theo. Gabi insisted that she didn’t do anything to either of them. She realized that Javi spilled the beans and hinted that she might do something to him.

Chad, Theo, and Kristen talked about whether EJ was behind their kidnappings. They realized the only way out of the crypt is to climb up. Kristen tried to climb up, but she hurt her ankle. She got angry with them and cursed them out. They started talking about Rachel, and they argued again. Theo got upset while they were arguing. He got them back on track of leaving the crypt. Theo thought they could use the candle holders to dig into the floor. Susan arrived as EJ and Cat were about to kiss. EJ wasn’t sure what he was thinking, but Cat knew. He was drugged. She left when he said he wasn’t feeling well. EJ told his mother about his missing family members. Susan was worried that he was behind what happened to the family. He told her that he wasn’t responsible for the kidnappings. Susan thought Cat might be responsible for what happened to them. She felt like something was off about Cat. EJ brushed her theory off. EJ received a summons so he had to leave. Susan saw Dr. Rolf sneak out of the tunnels. He managed not to answer Susan’s questions and went back to the tunnels. Rafe talked to Jada on the phone about security for the DiMeras. Javi walked in the room while Rafe was talking about Trey. Rafe reassured Javi that Trey wasn’t in direct danger. Cat showed up while they were talking. Javi seemed to believe Cat’s reason for being at the house. She told Rafe that she drugged EJ. Rae wasn’t thrilled with what she did. She felt like her plan was the right thing to do. Cat said that she saw a cot in the wine room. She also saw men’s shoes.

Gwen approached Leo while he was writing a story about Chad being missing. She seemed genuinely worried about Chad. Leo suggested they team up to find Chad. Gwen thought it was a bad idea. She got nervous when Leo suggested that EJ was behind the kidnapping. Gwen thought about the plan she and EJ came up with to make Dimitri disappear. Javi showed up and told Leo about what happened to Theo. They started worrying about Theo. Leo wanted to confront EJ. He looked at the gala footage of EJ and Gwen arguing. He put it together and realized EJ and Gwen could be working together. Gwen approached EJ and demanded to know if he was behind the kidnappings. She didn’t want him messing things up for her. Gwen talked about their plan to mix Rolf’s serum with Versavix and testing it on the person in the pod. The serum was supposed to make the person rich beyond their dreams. Gwen wanted to know what was taking so long, and EJ got upset. Rolf walked in the room to warn them about Susan. The DiMeras kept digging in the floor. Theo hit something solid. He hit a human bone.

Jennifer and Jack talked about taking Chad to court. She left to get Thomas new clothes when he didn’t have anything to wear for court. Jack talked to Thomas about getting custody of him. Cat was getting ready for her date with EJ when he suggested that Clyde was the reason why they met. Cat left so EJ headed to the courthouse for Chad’s hearing. She called Rafe for an update on Chad’s phone. Cat an into Jennifer at the town square. She tried her best to speak up for Chad, but Jennifer didn’t want to listen to her. Jennifer made Cat feel bad when she told her about herself. Cat gathered herself and called Andrew for legal drugs. Gabi and Theo met so Gabi Chic could be signed back over to her. He impressed her so much that she was willing to work together without giving up her company. While they were talking, Gabi warned him to watch his back when it concerned EJ. Theo told her about going on a second date with Jada. They were going to trivia night at the pub. Gabi planned to go with Philip. She let him know that Philip didn’t know the truth, so she wanted Theo to keep quiet about it.

Chad arrived at the crypt. Tony and Kristen told him what they knew. They felt like someone was targeting the DiMeras. Chad talked to them about the custody battle. Kristen let him know that it was the day after Thanksgiving. Chad got upset because he missed his court hearing. He felt like Jennifer would use it against him. Tony and Kristen felt like Chad missing his court date might make people look for him. EJ would get people to start looking for them. EJ and Justin arrived at the courthouse. They wanted to talk to their clients about mediation instead of court. Jack, Jennifer, Thomas, and the judge arrived at the courthouse. Since Chad wasn’t in the courtroom, EJ felt it proved that something was seriously wrong. He wanted a continuance, and Jennifer agreed to wait. They agree to meet next week. Thomas thought something might be wrong with his father. Jack and Jennifer brought Thomas home. He was still worried about Chad. They were worried too, but they didn’t tell Thomas. Thomas went upstairs to change his clothes. Jennifer felt like being a DiMera was dangerous. Jack decided to call JJ to declare Chad missing. Cat showed up at the mansion, and EJ told her that Chad didn’t show up at the hearing. She lost it, and EJ got worried. EJ planned to do everything he could to find Chad. While they were talking, Cat slipped drugs into EJ’s drink. He drank some of the drink and passed out.

Sophia reassured Rachel that she wasn’t upset that Johnny and Chanel adopted her son. She was sad about it. Rachel didn’t believe her and wasn’t sure if she could trust her. Sophia told her that she could trust her. Rachel decided to trust her. Sophia told her that they were kindred spirits who could help each other. She explained how things worked at Bayview. Sophia warned her to watch the things she said to the therapist, or she would be there longer. Rachel wondered what she could do to repay Sophia for what she did for her. Sophia would figure something out. Steve talked to Alex about the fan letter. He had someone analyze the letter. The person who wrote the letter was left-handed and probably a man. Alex understood how it felt when fans get obsessed. Holly walked in the room with a stack of letters from Stephanie’s obsessed fan. The letters were from Salem.

Cat arrived at the DiMera mansion. She was worried about Chad. EJ wasn’t worried because he received a text from Chad. He became agitated when Cat questioned the text. EJ apologized for the way he reacted. While Cat was talking about Chad, it triggered a memory for EJ. It occurred to him that Cat was the one reading for him while he was at the hospital. Cat was confused and said her memories of that time were fuzzy. She said she was sent to a specialist in Italy because of her accident. EJ realized why he was drawn to her. He remembered that she read to him for hours. EJ thought they had a connection. Steve wanted to analyze the letters that Holly brought for Stephanie. He assured Alex that Stephanie wasn’t in immediate danger. Stephanie arrived at her hotel for her book tour in Chicago. Someone in a black jacket, pants and gloves was outside her door.

Cat talked to EJ about Jennifer taking Chad’s kids. She couldn’t believe that she would do that. Cat became more worried when EJ said that Chad was missing. She seemed very upset that someone was targeting the DiMera family. EJ assured her that he was on the case. Cat let and wanted to meet with Rafe. They met outside of the pub and talked about Chad’s disappearance. Rafe let her know that EJ could be the one responsible for Chad’s disappearance. They went to Chad’s room at the Inn and didn’t see any evidence that Chad was there since he checked in. Chad, Tony, Kristen, Meg, and Dimitri were missing. They noticed that they shared the same father. EJ was the only DiMera left. Belle went to Paulina’s place to talk about Rachel. She wanted Rachel’s situation to be handled like a mental issue and not a juvenile justice system issue. Paulina wasn’t sure how EJ would feel about that. Belle said that EJ knew about it. Paulina wasn’t sure she could commit to that plan. Kayla let Marlena know that she had Lyme disease. Marlena was okay with it. She was concerned with Rachel and how she failed her as a grandmother. Rachel was at Bayview because of her. Kayla assured her that she did the best she could. She needed to take care of herself now. Belle arrived at the hospital, and Kayla told her about Marlena’s circumstances. EJ showed up too, and Belle looked at him angrily. She wanted to go to her mother. Marlena wanted to know what was going with Rachel so she told her what happened. Kayla held EJ responsible for the budget cuts that led to Marlena being misdiagnosed. EJ reminded her about the times the hospital messed up records.

Brady took Rachel to Bayview. Rachel didn’t want to be there. She knew that ship sailed a long time ago. Brady assured her that everyone would visit her. Grandma Marlena would visit too even though she dropped the ball. Brady gave her something from John. He was about to leave when Rachel begged him not to leave her there. Brady walked away from her and was heartbroken. Rachel called out to him. Belle approached EJ to talk to him about Rachel. He felt bad for Rachel and was willing to keep her out of trouble. Brady went to visit Marlena. He let her know that he was heartbroken. Brady told her that he loved her and wanted her to focus on getting better. He wanted her to stay out of Rachel’s care. A nurse went to Sophia’s room to see if she needed anything. Sophia stared into space. After the nurse left, she wandered into Rachel’s room and said hello to her.

JJ got off his shift and saw Gabi and Philip at the town square. He wasn’t happy to find out that Gabi invited Philip to her house for Thanksgiving. Rafe and Arianna were talking in the kitchen when Leo came downstairs. Leo wanted to talk to Rafe privately. Rafe wanted to talk to him too, but they were interrupted when Gabi and Philip arrived at the house. The Hernandez family went through with their family traditions for Thanksgiving. Everyone talked about what they were thankful for. Gabi became uncomfortable when Philip talked about what he went through during the year. After they finished dinner, Leo and Rafe decided to talk. Rafe asked Leo about his investigation into EJ’s clinic. Leo didn’t have much information to give him. He changed the subject to talk to him about his relationship with Javi. Leo had a big favor to ask Rafe. The family gathered in the kitchen. Leo surprised Javi with his mother’s engagement ring. He got down on one knee and proposed to Javi. The Hortons had their Thanksgiving celebration. While Jennifer was setting the place cards for dinner, Thomas wondered where his father was sitting. He didn’t want his father to be near him. Jennifer knew it was hard for Thomas, but she was glad that he was willing to invite him to dinner. He snapped at her that he agreed for Charlotte’s sake. During the Hortons’ dinner, Thomas and Charlotte talked about pulling the wishbone. Charlotte wished their father would come home. Thomas hoped he never did. Jack checked on Julie. She talked to him about how she expected Doug to come down the stairs. It’s hard for her to believe that it’s been a year since he passed away. She admitted that days drag for her and that there hasn’t been much fun in the house for a long time. Jack knew things were rough with Chad. Julie felt like taking Chad’s children was more than rough. He hoped the lawsuit would knock some sense into Chad. Jack let her know that he and Jennifer didn’t want to hurt Chad. JJ arrived home and wondered if Chad was there yet. Chad didn’t show up at the house. He wanted to help Jack carve the turkey. The Hortons waited for Chad, but he didn’t show up. Jennifer got upset that Chad didn’t tell them where he was going, and they didn’t know if he would be back.

Tony and Kristen wondered what Rachel and their brothers were doing. They thought Chad was with the Hortons, EJ was alone, and Rachel thought her mother abandoned her. Tony thought about Anna. They realized that they had to get out of the crypt. Kristen continued to dig her way out, but she cut her hand. The siblings try to figure out who was responsible for them being there. Tony thought the person didn’t want them to starve since they have enough food to last for years. He wondered how long the person planned to keep them in the crypt. They started arguing while they were in the crypt. While they were arguing, they heard the door open. The Hernandez family waited to hear Javi’s answer to Leo’s proposal. Javi said he would marry him. Jennifer was upset that Chad didn’t show up for Thanksgiving dinner. She wondered if Chad was with Cat. Jack knew what it felt like to be the pariah and thought the dinner was too much for Chad. He hoped that Chad was okay. Julie’s phone pinged and Jack checked it out. It was from Chad. He said that he just saw the message and wanted them to tell the kids that he loved them. Julie sat alone and looked at Doug’s picture. She asked him to do something to bring peace to the family. Julie broke down and cried. A body was dumped into the crypt. The man’s hands were tied behind his back. He had a hood on his head. Kristen took the hood off and saw that Chad was the person brought into the crypt.

Kristen woke up in the DiMera crypt with Tony. They didn’t know how much time went by. Tony and Kristen began arguing about her being a bad person. He accused her of being a bad mother for shooting EJ without thinking of Rachel. Kristen shut down his accusations fast. Tony realized how similar she and Andre were. Kristen didn’t like him accusing her of being like Andre. They changed the subject to talk about how they got in the crypt. Their only hope of being discovered would be if a family member died. Brady was nervous when he went to Marlena’s room and found Belle there alone. Belle told him about the pacemaker that Marlena needed. He told her what Rachel did to Sarah. Brady believed that Rachel didn’t know she could have killed Sarah with her attack. While he was talking to Belle, he let it slip that Rachel shot EJ. He assured her that Rachel didn’t know what she was doing. Belle was shocked, but she told him that she and Shawn missed the signs with Claire. Rachel was getting help. Belle wondered why Kristen confessed to the crime. Brady realized that Kristen confessed to protect Rachel. He couldn’t believe that Kristen went to so much trouble to protect their daughter. Belle told him that the truth would have to come out since Kristen was innocent. Brady wanted to check on Rachel. Later Brady told Belle that Rachel’s doctor wanted her to go to Bayview. He felt like he failed his daughter. Belle could understand how he felt. She assured him that Rachel would get better like Claire did. Kristen found something solid while she was digging in the crypt. She called Tony over to see what it was.

EJ declined Susan’s request to see Marlena. She believed that he did something wrong. He thought that her diagnosis was missed because of a lack of staff at the hospital. Susan couldn’t believe how cheap he was. He wanted her to use her vibes to find Tony and Kristen. She said she didn’t get a vibe about them. Arianna ranted to Gabi about what Sophia did. Gabi tried to understand her actions since she made mistakes as a teenaged mother. She choked up when she told her daughter about agreeing to marry Nick Fallon. Gabi told her that Nick wanted to pass himself off as Arianna’s father. She was thankful that Chad stepped in. Gabi told her daughter that Sophia was scared and couldn’t turn to her mother for help. Later, Aaron got permission from Amy to let Arianna go with him to visit Sophia. Sophia was catatonic. He told her that he would have been there for the baby if he knew about him sooner. Aaron told her that their son was adopted by a great couple. Sophia continued to stare blankly. He promised her that things would get better. Arianna encouraged her to focus on getting better. Sophia blinked after they left.

Sarah had ice cream when she walked by Brady and Rachel on her way out of the pub. Rachel pretended that she was happy to see Sarah, but she made a face behind Brady’s back. Brady wanted Sarah to join them. Rachel wasn’t thrilled about that. She got testy with Sarah and asked Roman to switch out her ice cream from vanilla to pistachio since she knew Sarah was allergic to it. Roman brought the sundaes to the table, and Rachel secretly slipped the pistachio ice cream into Sarah’s bowl. She shocked Brady and Sarah when she announced that she knew she was kidnapped. Brady and Sarah were shocked that she knew the truth. Sarah confirmed what happened. She assured her that she was one of her favorite people. Brady was sorry that Rachel had to find out that way. He told her that she had an extra person to love. Sarah was about to eat her ice cream. Rachel yelled for her to stop, but she was too late. Sarah struggled to breathe so Brady rushed to her side. Brady demanded to know what Rachel did. Roman called 9-1-1. Brady searched for Sarah’s epi pen when Rachel had a memory of shooting EJ. Gabi tried to avoid running into Susan. She knew that Gabi was hiding something and that it was a big secret.

Cat went to Rafe’s house and talked about what happened at the gala. She also told him about being at the same facility with EJ. Cat believed that EJ was being nice to her because he remembered their connection. Rafe didn’t like the idea of her getting close to EJ romantically. She decided to come up with another idea. Sarah talked to Brady and Rachel about Marlena’s condition. She reassured them that Marlena would be okay. Rachel remembered Brady and Sarah hugging while she curtly excused herself. Sarah wondered what she could do to help with Rachel. Xander arrived while they were talking. He thanked Brady for their discussion. It helped him realize that he had to do the right thing. Xander signed the divorce papers. After Brady left, Xander told Sarah that signing the divorce papers was the first step in breaking their cycle of pain for their daughter’s sake. He didn’t feel worthy of Sarah and Victoria so he was going to set her free. Xander would never love anyone the way he loved her. Confused by her emotions, Sarah signed the papers. Rachel asked Brady if he was falling in love with Sarah. Brady assured her that they were friends. He wondered if that’s why she was being quiet. Rachel had other things to worry about. She told him about Susan telling her that she was stressing out her grandmother. Rachel wondered if that was why Marlena was sick. Brady told her that she was the reason Marlena wanted to get better. He wanted to get something to drink. While she was alone, Rachel searched Sarah’s name online. She found an article about Sarah kidnapping her after she believed Rachel was her daughter. Rachel also read an article about Sarah getting poisoned by a Sweet Bits scone.

Later Rachel overheard her father talking to Sarah on the phone about her divorce. Sarah said it was what she wanted but everything was a mess. Brady promised to be there for her if she needed him. Rachel went back to her computer and read more about Sarah’s allergy. She found out that Sarah was allergic to pistachio milk. Jennifer stormed out of the room when Chad showed up. Jeremy joined Chad and wanted to support him. Chad was upset when Jeremy suggested that he move out until things cooled off. He thought Jeremy was trying to kick him out. Jeremy thought it would take some stress off Thomas. Jennifer met with Justin to talk about the custody suit. Justin wanted to know if she really wanted to go through with the lawsuit. Jennifer said that she was doing it for her Abby’s children. She refused to allow Abby’s children to lose anything else. Justin asked her about the kids losing their father. Jennifer said that Chad changed. She felt like he didn’t put the kids first. Justin asked her if she wondered what would happen if they didn’t win. Jennifer insisted that they couldn’t lose the case. Chad was spending time with Charlotte when Jennifer returned to the Horton house. She interrupted a close moment between Chad and Charlotte. Once they were alone, Jennifer presented Chad with her petition for custody. Chad studied the papers and let her know that she wasn’t taking his kids. Jeremy told Jennifer that she was making a mistake. He heard Chad say goodbye to the kids, but Thomas wouldn’t open the door. Jeremy thought the moment was heartbreaking. Jennifer knew Chad loved his children, but she didn’t trust his judgement anymore. She refused to risk her grandchildren getting hurt. Cat ran into Chad at the town square. He let her know that he was staying at the Salem Inn and that Jennifer was suing him for custody. Chad walked away from her because he had to go.

Xander went to the penthouse to see Marlena. Brady told him that Marlena was at the hospital. With Kristen on the loose, Brady wondered if he wanted to kidnap Rachel for Kristen. Brady reminded him that he kidnapped her before. He also reminded him about what he did to him and Philip. Brady told him that Sarah told him everything. He wondered how Xander planned to go after Sarah for telling him the truth. Xander stopped himself from going off. He said that he was determined to be a better man. Xander was determined to win her back. Brady told him that Sarah might not care that he was determined to change. Xander thought he wanted more than friendship from Sarah. Brady denied wanting to go after her, but he did advise Xander to stop going after Sarah. Rafe, EJ, and Lucas were at the pub and talked about Sami and Kristen. EJ started brooding, and Rafe told them that Dante Vitale (Sami’s fiance). Lucas wondered if Sami got engaged to get under his skin. Rafe dismissed the notion. He said that Sami was older and wiser. They had to accept that she was in love with another man and that they weren’t the center of her universe anymore. Rafe and Lucas made a toast to her, and EJ toasted to Sami alone. Jada met with Theo after matching on the dating app. They were surprised that they didn’t swipe their pictures.

Theo and Jada agreed not to talk about work, but Jada brought up Kristen. He thought she was trying to interrogate him. Their date got better when they talked about their past time. They love playing chess. He had a chess board, and they bonded. Jada and Theo wanted to go out again. Alex told Stephanie that a rival company wanted to take him from Titan Publishing. He wanted to be loyal to his family. There was a person wearing gloves outside of their apartment. The figure squeezed something into Alex’s drink. Alex and Stephanie grabbed their food, and he took a sip from his drink. He noticed that it tasted weird. Alex felt like her sales weren’t where they should be so she had to go on more book tours He planned to join her on the tours. The person dressed in black looked at Stephanie’s tour dates.

EJ announced to everyone at the gala that Marlena was doing better and resting at the hospital. The event was going to resume. Kayla told Steve and Sarah that they were doing more tests on Marlena. Sarah felt bad that she hadn’t been able to diagnose her yet. Steve (Julie’s brother) noticed that she was wearing Alice’s diamond necklace. Julie apologized to Steve for accusing him of stealing it when Doug’s grandson did it. Mike revealed that Doug III reached out to Robin. Mike talked to her about Doug’s gratitude for Julie opening her home to him. Julie would have preferred to hear it from him directly. Mike was thankful that she let Jeremy stay with her. He thought Jeremy could find his way. Jack surprised Jennifer. She couldn’t stop talking about Thomas’ accident. Jennifer talked to him about getting custody of their grandchildren and taking them to Boston. Jack agreed that Abby would want her kids as far away from Cat as possible. Eli told EJ that he wanted to question him about his missing family members after the gala. He wanted to talk to him about Stefan, Tony and Dimitri. EJ let him know that Stefan and Dimitri left on their own. He was focused on finding Tony. EJ thought the police should consider Tony’s disappearance a priority too. Sarah let Maggie know that Xander didn’t respond to her divorce decree. Maggie shared that Xander implied that he wasn’t going to fight the divorce. She thought Sarah should be relieved. Sarah wasn’t convincing when she said she was relieved. Kayla found EJ and congratulated him for the clinic. She thought he did a good thing regardless of his motives. EJ smiled at her smugly. Everyone at the gala caught up with each other.

Jennifer talked to Lucas about getting custody of her grandchildren. Lucas understood where she was coming from, but he thought she was doing more harm than good. Julie approached Maggie at the gala. Maggie told her about the problems that Titan was facing. Julie knew that Maggie understood the business more than Xander and Philip. She thought Maggie could turn things around for the company. EJ continued with the gala. Paulina received a disturbing phone call. She wanted to let Abe know about it later. Sarah, Mike and Kayla made a tribute to Tom. EJ announced that the best way to honor Tom’s memory was to make the clinic free to everyone. Paulina stood up to give her speech. Abe hoped EJ made progress with what they talked about before. EJ said he didn’t forget. Marie Horton stood up to talk about Tom. Maggie talked about joining the Horton family and volunteering at the hospital. Julie talked about Tom as well. Jennifer presented everyone with a slideshow. There were flashbacks of Tom. Sarah was called to the hospital by Marlena’s cardiologist. Eli wanted EJ to know that the bureau would have more questions. EJ would share any information that helped them find his brother. Rolf was thankful that his cryogenic chamber was almost ready. Cat flashed back to reading a book to a bandaged man in the hospital EJ approached her and said that Tony’s phone was found on a beach. The location tracker was turned off. EJ didn’t trust Shane or Rafe to look for Tony, so he decided to hire people to do it. After EJ walked away, Cat called Rafe. She let him know that EJ seemed seriously worried about Tony. Cat thought he put on a good act for someone who was responsible for his brother’s disappearance, Belle promised Marlena that she would be civil to Sami during the gala. She left for the gala and Marlena stayed behind. Marlena had memories of John. Eric wanted to visit Sami, and she assumed that Marlena put him up to visiting her. He said that he could worry about her on his own. Eric was surprised to find out that she got engaged so quickly. Sami threw his love life in his face. She wondered what she did for him to get together with the one person she hated more than anyone. Eric reminded her that she used to hate John. Sami didn’t think there was any comparison between John and Nicole. She admitted that she loved John even when she hated him. Sami reunited with Will and Arianna. She couldn’t believe that her son and granddaughter were all grown up. After she talked to Will and Arianna, Sami ran into EJ at the town square. They had a nice moment together. Sami reunited with Brady, Rachel and Tate. EJ took Rachel aside to keep her from having Thomas involved in her pranks. He reminded her that Thomas wasn’t like them. Brady interrupted their conversation and told him to stay away from his daughter.

Gwen approached EJ and told him that their delivery was delayed. EJ sent her to handle it because the gala was about to start. After she left, Sami accused him of sleeping with Gwen. EJ wondered why she cared if he did sleep with her. Sami stammered while she was talking and walked off. After her run in with EJ, Sami ran into Belle. She talked to her about her relationship not working out with EJ. Sami found love and hoped Belle would find it too. Belle thought she came back to Salem to flaunt her engagement in her face. EJ started the event. Brady, Paul and Belle stood up to honor their father. John’s estate gave money for pancreatic research in honor of Isabella. Brady also paid tribute to Marlena. She talked about the type of woman Isabella was. Marlena couldn’t be prouder of John for funding research that could lead to a cure. After her speech, Paul told Marlena that he and Andrew were looking to adopt. Sami joined them to let them know that she was going away with her fiance. She looked at EJ one last time before she left. Later, Marlena clutched her chest while she was sitting with Rachel. Kayla and Belle rushed to her. Marlena didn’t want them to make a scene. Gwen saw the delivery at the hospital. She welcomed the delivery.

Kate was happy to see Lucas. She warned him that Sami was coming home too. Lucas knew that Sami didn’t want to see him so he would try to avoid her. Sami walked into the pub to find her father. She saw Kate and Lucas together. Sami found out that Roman wasn’t there and allowed Lucas to talk to her. Lucas spotted the engagement ring on her finger. Sami confirmed her engagement and told him that she was never that happy. Lucas felt like she deserved it. They became emotional as they realized they would never be best friends again. Sami knew he was sorry for kidnapping her and framing EJ for it. She forgave him for everything. Cat went to EJ’s office and overheard his conversation with Kayla about Thomas’ accident. She blamed herself for what happened to Thomas. EJ assured her that Thomas would be fine and told her that it wasn’t her fault. He felt like Clyde was responsible for the accident. They talked about Clyde ruining three lives. After Cat left, Sami arrived to surprise EJ. They talked for a bit until she told him that she was throwing Johnny and Chanel a baby shower. She let him know because she didn’t want him to crash the shower. She let him know that she was engaged to Dante Vitali (Ava’s cousin). Sami told him that Dante didn’t know about his mafia family, but EJ felt like he was still dangerous. EJ felt like she was marrying him to prove that she was over him. Sami playfully accused him of being jealous. He bet that she wouldn’t make it down the aisle. Sami told him that his vindictive streak was why he wasn’t invited to the baby shower and why Rafe was the baby’s honorary grandfather.

Thomas didn’t want to go home with Chad. Jennifer said that she would take him. Chad and Jennifer started arguing at the hospital when she threatened to take custody of the kids. He felt like she wanted the kids because she didn’t have her daughter. Chad reminded her that he lost Abby too. He told her that she couldn’t get over her grief by taking his kids. Jennifer defended her actions, and he told her that she wasn’t taking his children. She believed she could convince a judge to let her have the kids. Jennifer said that his son didn’t feel safe with him. Cat saw them arguing about her and how Chad was putting the kids in danger. Philip arrived at the pub and sat with Lucas and Kate. He informed them that he would lose everything if they didn’t turn things around at Titan. Kate refused to let that happen. She talked about loving Victor and having a child with him. Philip reminded her that Vivian gave birth to him. She never wanted to hear Vivian’s name again. Kate walked away from the table. While she was gone, Philip talked to Lucas about the forged letter. Sami talked to EJ about being his worst enemy, and it broke her heart. She wanted him to fix things with their son. Sami didn’t think she would see him again so she said goodbye to him. EJ choked up and said goodbye to her. Chad went to see EJ to get legal advice. He wanted to know if Jennifer had a case against him. EJ warned him that anything was possible. He advised Chad to move back to the mansion to get space from Jennifer. Jennifer went to the Horton house and told Julie that she was hiring Justin. She wanted her support since she planned to sue Chad for custody of the kids.

Gwen wanted to know if EJ had something to do with Tony’s disappearance like they did with Dimitri. EJ didn’t have a problem getting rid of his nephew because he was a con artist, but Tony was his brother. He considered him a friend. EJ didn’t want anything to happen to him. He was confident that Tony would show up for the next spot on the cruise. EJ changed the subject so they could talk about Leo. He thought it was important that Leo be stopped from finding out what they really wanted to do with the clinic. Jennifer wanted to celebrate Thomas getting good grades, but he was grounded. He was upset about it so Jennifer explained to him that it wasn’t okay to hurt people even if you didn’t like them. Gwen arrived while Jennifer was talking to Thomas. Thomas wanted Gwen to join them, but Jennifer didn’t want her to do that. Chad consoled Leo about losing Tesoro. He told him that he came a long way from the person he met. Leo said he would have plotted to get the baby back in the day. Gwen arrived while they were talking. She received a chilly response. Gwen sat at their table. She and Leo reminisced about the old days until he demanded to know what she wanted. Gwen told him that Dimitri was seen in Curacao and wanted his help to track him down. She thought it would be a great story for him. Gwen wondered if he was curious about what Dimitri was doing. Leo didn’t care about Dimitri. She told him that he needed closure. Leo said he had more important things to worry about. Gwen feigned concern for Tesoro. Leo choked up talking about Tesoro.

Abe went to the DiMera mansion to confront EJ about Theo. He assumed that EJ wasn’t happy with Theo running company as he was. Abe wanted EJ’s help to convince Theo that he needed to step down from running DiMera Enterprises. He didn’t want Theo to learn that the DiMeras will eat him alive the way they do with the rest of the family. Chad overheard Cat’s phone call with a doctor. He asked her about it, and she told him that her mother didn’t recognize Mark. It turned out that she might suffer from early on-set dementia. Chad hugged her when Jennifer and Thomas showed up. Cat walked away from him. Thomas yelled at Chad for caring about her. He ran off and there were screeching tires coming towards Thomas. Chad and Jennifer called out to Thomas.
