Update written by Joseph

Brady and Steve sit together at the Pub. Brady asks how Stephanie is. Steve responds that she’s happy to be out of the hospital and back home. Steve thanks Brady for his help in finding her and in tracking down Owen Kent. Brady points out that Steve would’ve done the same for him and has always helped him when he needs. They toast to each other. Brady then tells Steve that he actually needs his help now.

Holly sits in the town square and texts Arianna, asking if they can meet up because she has something important to tell her.

Kristen finds Sophia in the park and wants to continue their conversation from outside the Pub and lay the groundwork for their little enterprise. Sophia questions what exactly she wants her to do.

Theo goes to the DiMera Enterprises office to meet Johnny. Johnny says he has one final request before he hands the chair back to him and asks if his offer to stay on in a senior management role is still on the table. Theo responds that he’s sorry, but that offer is long gone.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ is on the phone complaining about Dimitri slipping out of Alamainia to magically appear in Salem. EJ doesn’t want excuses and wants this problem taken care of. Cat then arrives.

Dimitri surprises Leo in his hospital room. Leo questions if he’s hallucinating. Dimitri assures that it’s really him and he’s back.

Johnny guesses Theo knows about the lawsuit with Titan, but Theo questions what he’s talking about. Johnny informs him that Titan is talking about suing DiMera over One Rainy Afternoon, so he thought it would be best if he stuck around and did damage control because it’s not Theo’s problem. Theo responds that he’s right that it’s not his problem and it’s never going to be. Johnny questions what he’s talking about. Theo announces that he’s done some thinking and he’s not coming back to DiMera, shocking Johnny. Theo then tells Johnny that the CEO position is his if he wants it.

Brady tells Steve that Sophia used Rachel to hurt Holly and now Rachel is back in Bayview, which he calls heartbreaking. Steve says he’s really sorry about that. Brady is relieved that Rachel is doing okay, taking her meds, and wasn’t responsible for the pill swap. Brady declares that Sophia has a knack for slipping through the cracks, so he’s not going to let it happen again. Steve asks what the gameplan is. Brady responds that he needs solid proof that Sophia did it on purpose, something he can take to the cops. Steve asks if he has any progress on that front. Brady admits he doesn’t yet. Brady argues that what Sophia did was beyond the pale, so he’s going to take her down before she claims another victim.

Kristen asks Sophia if she really has to spell it out for her. Sophia says she just said they could help each other out, but she didn’t say how. Kristen calls it simple and says she hates EJ with every fiber of her being. Kristen says that EJ making her mother disappear caused a domino effect that led directly to Rachel’s downward spiral and that he put her through Hell. Sophia repeats that she’s sorry that Rachel got sent back to Bayview. Kristen complains that sorry isn’t going to bring her home and it’s too late for sorry. Kristen declares that Sophia used Rachel to get what she wanted, so now she’s going to use Sophia to get what she wants; the destruction of her brother EJ. Kristen proclaims she wants EJ broken publicly, privately, and permanently.

EJ finishes his call and asks Cat what he can do for her. Cat reminds him that she’s here about coordinating the reading of Stefano’s will. EJ says he’s narrowed down some dates as he reveals that Chad’s return is now confirmed which surprises Cat. EJ informs her that Chad and the kids are driving back as they speak and that it seems the trip did him wonders as he sounded like a whole new man. Cat comments that it’s great and she’s happy for him but EJ notes that she doesn’t sound very happy. Cat admits that selfishly, she felt on high alert when Chad was there because she was constantly trying to avoid being seen with him. EJ guesses she means life was easier and less complicated with Chad gone. Cat says she wouldn’t go that far because it seems something or someone always comes in to her life to complicate it.

Dimitri explains to Leo that he called up an old comrade, who owed him big, and he snuck him out and on to a cargo plane. Dimitri tells Leo that nothing will keep him away from him. Dimitri asks how Leo is feeling. Leo says other than being emotional from the concussion, he’s feeling better and much better now that he’s here. Dimitri questions him being glad that he’s here. Leo clarifies that he’s relieved he’s not withering away in Alamainia. Dimitri swears that he had nothing to do with Vivian’s murder as he was set up again and had to escape again because he had no choice. Leo says the reporter in him knows that he had the time, means, and motive to take Vivian out but he was with him in Alamainia, and the man he knows wouldn’t just murder two people in cold blood. Dimitri jokes about that being high praise and then questions his name being on the paper Leo was writing. Leo explains that his new morning routine includes writing down his feelings based on Marlena’s suggestion and since screens would slow down his recovery, he’s doing it the old fashioned way with pen and paper. Dimitri asks if he’d ever consider sharing those feelings with him.

Steve says it sounds like Rachel has given Brady a lot to work with already. Brady says the problem is that she’s a 10 year old girl who just got sent back to a psychiatric ward, so her testimony won’t be worth any weight. Steve asks about the phone but Brady says it was a burner that was wiped out. Steve says they need to start with the pill bottle then which Brady reveals that he has and presents to Steve. Brady declares that if Sophia’s fingerprints are on the bottle, then he will have all the proof he needs that she switched the pills.

Sophia asks Kristen how she helps bring EJ down. Kristen says that’s the fun part. Kristen asks who Sophia blames the most for her current woes and who she wants revenge on. Sophia tells her it’s Holly Jonas. Kristen asks if there’s anyone else. Sophia names Johnny DiMera. Kristen points out that Johnny is EJ’s golden boy, so she wants to kill two birds with one stone where Sophia gets revenge on Johnny while she gets revenge on EJ. Sophia says it sounds good to her and asks what about Holly. Kristen admits she doesn’t know Holly, but she detests her mother, so Sophia can go ahead and wreck her life too because she couldn’t care less what happens to that girl.

Holly remains in the town square trying to focus on her school work while looking at her phone, anxiously hoping for a reply from Arianna.

EJ talks to Cat about the terms of Stefano’s will that he drew up, stating his offspring or named beneficiaries would receive inheritance while those that died would be divided among them, but won’t rule out others coming out of the woodwork since greed is never in short supply. Cat assumes she won’t be required to attend the reading. EJ jokes about the idea of not wanting to go.

Johnny tells Theo that he doesn’t understand as he thought he loved DiMera and was champing at the bit to come back, so he questions what changed his mind. Theo thinks back to EJ telling him he will have to make a decision before his mother Lexie opens her eyes and how being CEO of DiMera would be her worst nightmare. Theo then tells Johnny that it just feels wrong. Johnny urges Theo to talk to him about what’s really going on here.

Steve compliments Brady on already thinking like a pro, so he questions what he needs him for since it seems like he’s got this mapped out and he’s got the instincts. Steve brings up when they were chasing down the adoptive parents that Sophia fabricated or digging in to Trey’s real father. Brady says if he has any kind of instinct for detective work, it’s because he inherited it from his dad as he learned a lot from him. Steve responds that John was the real deal, smart, loyal, and dangerous when he needed to be. Steve calls John a hell of a partner and an even better friend. Brady adds that he was an amazing dad too. Steve tells Brady that he’s been thinking about something that he knows would make John real happy and he thinks they should talk about it.

Leo agrees to tell Dimitri about his emotional turmoil and tells him how he excites him and that being with him is exciting, scary, chaotic and passionate while Javi made him feel safe and loved him for who he was. Leo says that’s obviously over, but he keeps wondering if he could be the man Javi thought he could be instead of just the guy he’s always been when with Dimitri.

Theo asks Johnny what he wants him to say and says he just can’t do it, so he has to give it up. Johnny decides he doesn’t have to explain but questions if there’s something going on at DiMera that he should know about. Theo says it’s nothing like that. Johnny asks if it’s personal and something he could help with. Johnny tells Theo that whatever is going on, he doesn’t have to go through it alone and he can talk to him. Theo responds that he can’t talk to him about this. Theo says he’s sorry and walks out of the office, leaving Johnny confused.

EJ tells Cat that the DiMeras know how to have a good time in their own twisted way, especially after the nightmare they endured in the crypt which sort of bonded them, except for he and Kristen. EJ suspects Kristen is harboring homicidal fantasies about him as they speak. EJ presents Kristen with a folder on the reading and adds that she is welcome to attend. EJ feels it’s going to be one hell of an occasion. Cat says she’ll have to consider it but for now, she will be on her way. EJ tells her to have a good evening as she then exits the mansion.

Sophia tells Kristen that she’s right that she can handle Holly herself, but she’s wondering how far Kristen wants to take this and if she wants to murder anyone. Kristen asks why she asks that and what Rachel told her about her. Sophia says just that she’s a good mom and she loves her, but she did say her family is exactly what she’s always heard. Kristen calls that a very diplomatic answer and says for now, the less she knows, the better.

Steve tells Brady that Black Patch hasn’t been the same since they lost John and it never will be. Steve admits that after John died, he considered calling it but he couldn’t walk away and wanted to keep it going to honor John’s memory. Brady knows John would be grateful for that. Steve is grateful to keep doing the work he loves in spite of missing his partner, but he can’t do it on his own forever. Steve adds that Rafe is with the FBI, Paul is living his best life with Andrew, while Bo and Hope help when they can but they are remote and he needs someone local, who he can trust. Steve then asks Brady to put the Black back in Black Patch.

Leo tells Dimitri that he wants to be the best person of himself whether that’s with someone or no one. Dimitri thanks Leo for being open and honest with him and says he will try to do the same. Dimitri says when they first reconnected in Salem, he made him feel like he didn’t have to hide. Dimitri says Leo made him brave and made him accept himself in ways he never thought he could. Dimitri talks about realizing he wanted something real with Leo. Dimitri takes Leo’s hand and tells him that he loves him with all his heart.

Theo goes to the DiMera Mansion where EJ says it looks like something is troubling him and asks what’s going on. Theo announces that he is stepping down as CEO of DiMera. EJ knows that decision would make his mother proud. Theo adds that he talked to Johnny, who was surprised that he was leaving, but he seemed eager to stay on. Theo remarks that it looks like it worked out for everybody.

Johnny walks through the town square and calls EJ, leaving a message that he needs to talk to him ASAP about a development at work. Johnny hangs up and comes across Holly. Johnny asks if she’s doing okay. Holly says she’s good and asks about him. Johnny says he’s good, but brings up Sophia being out of Bayview. Holly says she heard and also about what happened at the adoption hearing, which she says was low for Sophia to do. Johnny says he’d say he’s relieved that it’s over but with Sophia free in Salem, he admits he’s a little worried. Holly responds that he’s not the only one.

Sophia asks Kristen what exactly she wants her to do. Kristen says whatever she tells her to do. Sophia is not so sure she’s ready to sign up for that. Kristen warns that this isn’t a negotiation as she lost the right of refusal when she dragged Rachel in to her pill switching stunt. Kristen tells Sophia that she needs to make a decision right here and right now as she asks Sophia if she wants her to be for her or against her. Kristen then spots Cat in the park, so she tells Sophia their meeting is over and to go, so Sophia exits. Kristen then calls out to Cat. Cat comes over and says she’s glad she ran in to her since she’s arranging the reading of Stefano’s will, so she’ll be contacting her with details soon. Kristen then walks away.

Brady questions Steve wanting him to join Black Patch. Steve says there’s no pressure, but he thought maybe he’d like to follow in his dad’s footsteps. Steve adds that he could show him the ropes as he’s starting out if he accepts the offer. Brady says he never considered anything like this, but he really enjoyed working with him lately. Steve tells Brady that he doesn’t have to answer now, but asks him to think about it which he agrees to do.

EJ tells Theo that he knows this wasn’t easy, but he truly believes it was the right call. Theo laughs that for EJ it was because he always wanted Johnny to be CEO. EJ calls it best for all involved. Theo brings up talking to Tony earlier and he thinks Tony could sense he wasn’t telling the truth. EJ encourages that Tony will come along. Theo says he told Tony that Johnny is more than capable and pulled through for him while he was gone, but he heard something about a lawsuit from Titan. EJ calls that nothing to lose sleep over and says that he and Johnny can handle it as they have everything under control.

Holly tells Johnny about Sophia switching her pills and how they are trying to get proof. Johnny can’t believe Sophia would stoop that low and says he’ll do anything he can to help, because he and Chanel would love nothing more than to see Sophia locked up again for good.

Steve goes to the park and runs in to Cat. Steve knows they didn’t get off on the right foot. Cat says they don’t have to do this, but Steve wants to thank her for helping rescue Stephanie as he knows it came at great personal risk to get Kayla in to the lab. Steve tells Cat how grateful he is that she saved Stephanie’s life. Cat calls Stephanie her friend and says she was just doing what any friend would do. Steve thinks she deserves more credit than that. Steve talks about making things right and admits he can sometimes be too judgmental and wrong about people, like Cat. Steve apologizes for being hard on her as he knows there must be more to her than he was willing to see. Steve tells Cat to have a good day as he walks away. Cat says if only he knew.

Dimitri tells Leo that he will give him as much space as he needs. Leo thanks him. Dimitri says now that he’s back, he would like to move on with his life. Dimitri brings up never finding proof that Gwen kidnapped him, but he can’t leave things the way they are with her. Dimitri wants to close that chapter and see what’s next for him or for them. They exit the hospital room together as Leo talks about how good it feels to be out of the room. Cat arrives and tries to go the other way but Leo calls her over. Dimitri stops Cat and asks if they’ve met. Cat claims she doesn’t think so and suggests he’s confusing her with someone else. Cat then says duty calls and rushes off.

Theo asks EJ if there’s any word on his mom’s condition. EJ says he’s afraid not. Theo asks if he can sit with her. EJ says of course and suggests the sound of his voice could awaken something in Lexie and give her a reason to come back sooner. Theo brings up that if this actually happens, Abe is going to be on cloud nine, but on the other hand, he can’t help feeling bad for Paulina. EJ acknowledges that if Abe has to make a choice, they all know what that choice is going to be.

Johnny tells Holly to stay in touch and keep each other in the loop if they see or hear anything about Sophia. Johnny tells her to take care. They head in separate directions as Sophia comes around the corner and sees them.

Brady goes home where Kristen has packed her bag. Brady questions her going somewhere. Kristen asks what reason she has to stay with him now that Rachel is back in Bayview. Brady guesses there is none. Kristen asks how Brady can live with himself, knowing that he, Marlena, and Belle all gave up on Rachel. Brady calls her delusional because they didn’t do that. Brady argues that he’s never given up on his daughter and he won’t let her accuse him of such a thing. Brady says that every decision he’s ever made has been with Rachel’s best interest at heart and bets Kristen can’t say the same. Kristen calls him a son of a bitch and says he doesn’t get to say that to her. Kristen shouts that she can’t stand to look at Brady and declares that she never wants to see him again. Kristen states that she’ll send for her things later as she storms out with her bag.

Dimitri brings Leo back to his hospital room and asks about Cat. Dimitri says her name doesn’t ring a bell and she doesn’t look that familiar, but her voice sounded exactly like the ISA analyst he spoke to. Leo comments that voices can sound similar and that Cat definitely doesn’t work for the ISA. Dimitri says he will let Leo get some rest but he’s glad he’s doing better because he was blaming himself for Leo’s concussion. Leo tells him not to blame himself and points out that Dimitri saved his life. Dimitri says that Leo saved his life and without him, he wouldn’t be standing here with him. Dimitri calls Leo his heart and the best thing that ever happened to him. Dimitri tells Leo to get some rest and then they kiss.

At the hospital, Alex prepares Stephanie to leave. Alex hugs her and promises she will feel so much better when they get back home.

At the police station, Jada sits with Jeremy in the interrogation room and tells him how impressed she was with how he and Stephanie worked together while they were tied up. Jeremy gives Stephanie the credit and says she was a rockstar. Steve then arrives and tells Jeremy that he just wanted to tell him in person how very sorry he is.

JJ sits at home, on the phone with Jennifer. JJ says he’s fine and just trying to figure out where to go from here as they finish their call. Julie comes in and tells JJ that she just got back from seeing Shawn, who told her everything. JJ says he screwed up and could’ve got him killed. Julie says Shawn explained what happened and he’s worried about him and she is too.

Kayla checks on Shawn at the hospital, advising him not to overdo it. Shawn hates being a burden on anyone and wants to get out of the hospital bed, but promises to pull it back a little. Kayla jokes that she doesn’t believe him, so she’s glad he isn’t going home alone. Kayla adds that she will tell Jada to make sure he’s taking it easy while she’s looking after him. Belle arrives with flowers and questions what she just said. Kayla says she was just urging Shawn to take it easy during physical therapy which Belle calls good advice. Kayla says she’ll let them catch up and check on Shawn later as she exits. Belle then questions Shawn about Jada looking after him. Shawn confirms that he’ll be staying at her place for awhile. Belle questions why as she thought with parents out of town, she would be his go-to since they are still family. Shawn says he appreciates her offer but felt it would be better and more comfortable to make other arrangements for both of them.

JJ tells Julie that he’s fine and doesn’t want her to worry. Julie is concerned because she remembers he went to a very dark place after he shot Theo. Julie says she also remembers how hard he worked to bring himself out of that depression. Julie asks if he’s talking to anyone. JJ says he’s still seeing his therapist and assures that he’s not thinking about hurting himself. Julie encourages that he’s not alone and he’s not being judged. JJ responds that no one could judge him as harshly as he’s judging himself.

Steve states that he broke his own rules when it came to finding his daughter’s stalker as he let his feelings run the show and zeroed in on Jeremy when he should’ve been considering all the other possibilities. Jeremy acknowledges that Owen did an excellent job of framing him and given his past behavior, he gets why everyone suspected him. Steve appreciates his understanding but feels his mistake could’ve cost them their lives and he should’ve done things differently. Jeremy feels they did everything they could to find Stephanie and rescuing her meant rescuing him too, so he’s very grateful for everything did and he thanks God they made it out alive. Steve informs him that Stephanie told him that he had a chance to get away without her, but he chose to stay to keep her safe and for that, he will be eternally grateful.

Kayla goes to Stephanie’s hospital room with her discharge papers, but admits she would feel better if she stayed another day. Kayla knows that’s not what she wants so she’ll have to settle for checking in on her at her apartment several times a day. Alex reminds her that they are newlyweds. Kayla assures her first visit will be very brief and she’ll just bring dinner to give them one less thing to worry about. Alex calls that very kind of her. Kayla tells Stephanie that she loves her and tells Alex to take care of her as she then exits. Alex reminds Stephanie to get plenty of rest and recovery. Stephanie says not yet as she’ll rest when she gets home, but there’s something she needs to do first.

Jada has Jeremy sign his witness statement. Jeremy says he wants to see Owen put away for life after everything he put them through. Jada thanks him. Jeremy says he’s glad to do it. Jeremy shakes hands with Steve, who tells him to take care. Jeremy thanks Steve and then exits. Steve asks if Jada is doing okay. Jada says she’s just wound up and feels like she’s been on an express train with no brakes and the doors sealed shut. Steve says he knows the feeling. Jada talks about what Stephanie went through and what Steve and Kayla must have been going through, so she feels she has no room to complain. Steve understands she went through a lot while worrying about Stephanie and running the whole police force. Jada is grateful that worrying about Stephanie is over. Jada mentions not getting a chance to see Stephanie today and asks how she’s doing. Steve responds that she says she’s doing great, but he doesn’t believe her.

Kayla finds Leo in the hospital lobby with his laptop. Kayla comments on Leo not being in his hospital room and reminds him that he’s not to be having screen time after his concussion. Leo complains that he can’t be without his job. Kayla calls him an interesting, funny, and charming man who has had some struggles but always tried to make himself better. Leo blames his head trauma for being overly sentimental but calls Kayla the kindest and loveliest human being on earth. Leo thanks her for rescuing him from his pity party and hugs her.

Julie tells JJ that a mistake does not define him, but how he comes back from it does. Julie calls him strong and smart with a wonderful heart, so she has every faith that he will come out of this situation even stronger. JJ wishes he had the same faith in him that she does. Julie encourages that everyone that knows him and loves him knows that he will have a bright future, so they have to make sure he knows that too. JJ thanks her for everything as they hug.

Belle questions Shawn not being comfortable staying with her. Shawn acknowledges that they are family and they share a child, but he worries about being together with her again that closely. Belle admits she hadn’t thought of it like that and guesses she agrees that being together that closely could bring up feelings that would make both of them uncomfortable. Shawn thanks her for understanding. Belle asks what about him and Jada. Shawn says what happened between he and Jada doesn’t compare to their history. Shawn clarifies that he will be sleeping in the guest room, then adds that he doesn’t know if the offer still stands since he failed to include some details about the shooting because he was trying to protect JJ but it backfired on him when JJ came in and quit the force. Shawn wishes he just disclosed everything from the beginning. Belle responds that she can relate.

Steve tells Jada that after everything Stephanie has been through, he doesn’t know how she could be okay. Jada encourages that he and Kayla raised a smart, strong, and capable woman. Alex and Stephanie then enter the interrogation room. Steve questions what they are doing here. Stephanie responds that she needs to see Owen. Jada asks if she’s sure that’s a good idea. Steve asks what good that’s going to do. Alex adds that Owen had no remorse. Jada tells Stephanie that it won’t do any good but Stephanie yells to stop and declares that she knows what she needs to do and she’s doing it now.

Julie encourages JJ that everyone is there for him which he says means a lot. Julie reminds him that he has a bright future. Jeremy then comes home, so Julie asks how it went at the police station. Jeremy says it went well and he said what he needed to say. Julie is so glad this awful chapter is behind him now. Julie heads to the kitchen while JJ tells Jeremy that he’s really happy for him, that he was vindicated and everyone knows they were wrong about him. Jeremy responds that he’s not sure he deserves it with the things he’s done in his past, but now he has to look ahead to what he’s going to do next. JJ says that makes two of them.

Leo asks Kayla how long his mood swings are going to go on after his concussion. Kayla suggests scheduling a session with Marlena. Leo says he already poured his heart out to her, so there’s nothing she can do. Kayla knows he’s struggling right now but says heartache and pain lessen in time. Leo doesn’t know that time will make this heartbreak better and blames himself, saying he had two chances at love in life and squandered both of them. Kayla encourages that he has a lot to give and love is not done with him by a long shot, so Leo hugs her.

Steve and Alex pace outside the interrogation room, complaining that this is a bad idea as Jada brings Owen into the interrogation room to face Stephanie. Owen excitedly says that his love came to him while Jada asks Stephanie if she’s sure and then exits. Steve argues that she should not be in there by herself with him. Alex agrees but Jada says she’ll be fine and if anything happens, they are right there. Stephanie then gets up and closes the blinds to the window.

Leo tells Kayla that she has emotionally resurrected him, commenting that she did so right after everything that happened with Stephanie. Leo feels he was wasting her time with his tame problems, but Belle arrives and says everyone needs to unload their problems from time to time and tells Leo to complain away.

Jeremy says he knows he hasn’t always been the best guy or made the best choices and his past is always there to cast a shadow. Jeremy admits he’s struggling to let go of his anger towards the people who thought the worst of him, hunted him down, and showed up at his work. JJ says that includes him as he was spying on him in his own house. Jeremy says he can forgive JJ since he had a job to do and Owen made him look guilty as hell. Jeremy clarifies that he’s talking about the people that jumped to the wrong conclusion from the very beginning and those that barely know him or how hard he’s worked to become the person he is.

Owen remarks that he and Stephanie are alone as last and it wouldn’t have to be this way if she just gave him a chance from the start and opened her heart to his love. Stephanie questions calling what he did love. Stephanie argues that love is what her parents have and what she and Alex have. Stephanie tells Owen that he doesn’t love her and she will never ever love him, calling him a psychotic bastard. Owen says she says that now, but she’ll see.

Kayla asks Belle about her visit with Shawn. Belle says it was fine. Kayla says she needs to get back to work and reminds Leo to not be looking at screens as she walks away. Leo tells Belle about his mood swings due to his concussion and thanks her for not charging him for helping Dimitri escape the hospital. Belle responds that her job is to ensure that justice is done and in this case, that could only be done with he and Dimitri in Alamainia. Leo promises not to pull any more alarms and he’s thankful to be back in Salem, but wishes Dimitri could be that lucky. Belle points out that charges in Alamainia are out of her jurisdiction. Leo feels guilty leaving him behind when he knows that Dimitri had nothing to do with Vivian’s disappearance. Leo complains that he’s proven useless to both the men he loved and a failure in both life and love. Belle suggests he write his feelings down and get it out that way. Leo reminds her that Kayla said no screens while Belle asks when doctor’s orders have ever stopped Leo Stark.

Jeremy tells JJ about finding Stephanie in the hidden room and it killed him that the things he’s done in the past made her so afraid of him. Jeremy guesses the good that came out of it was that Stephanie saw that he was genuine about wanting to learn from his mistakes and become a better guy. JJ asks if he still has feelings for Stephanie. Jeremy responds that it’s mostly suppressed by now as it’s been a long time since they were together, but she’ll always be the one that got away or rather the one he pushed away. Jeremy feels that being held captive together has bonded them in a way. JJ understands that no one understands what they went through except for them, like their own secret society.

Stephanie tells Owen that all she will see is that he’s a sadistic son of a bitch and that now he’s the one being held prisoner in handcuffs. Stephanie says people came searching for her, but not a soul will come searching for him because he’s a worthless loser. Stephanie declares that she’s the one with the power now. Owen says this is the woman he fell in love with and talks about when they kissed. Stephanie slaps and repeatedly screams that she hates him until Alex, Steve, and Jada burst in. Alex comforts Stephanie while a cop has to hold Steve back and Jada escorts Owen back out as he tells Stephanie that she may hate him but she’ll never forget him, leaving Stephanie horrified as Alex tries to console her.

Leo tells Belle that he will request a pad and pencil which she says sounds like a good idea. Leo tells her to take care as he walks away. Belle then gets a call from Chad and says it’s so good to hear from him. Chad informs her that he and the kids are coming back soon. Belle says they miss him and that a lot has happened since he left. Belle asks how much time he’s got as she walks away on the call.

Jada goes to the hospital to visit Shawn, who asks how her day has been. Jada says it’s been a long hard day and week but probably not as much as his. Shawn feels it’s about to get harder as he assumes Jada is here to suspend him and rescind her offer to move in with her. Jada tells Shawn that she is disappointed that he failed to disclose all events involved in an officer shooting, so she will have to put a warning in his file but he’s not suspended. Jada adds that he will have to earn back her trust. Shawn thanks her and says he totally understands her decision. Jada is not rescinding her offer for him to come stay with her while he recovers if that’s still what he wants. Shawn assures that it is what he wants.

Steve joins Kayla at the hospital and offers to take her to lunch. Kayla says they can celebrate Stephanie being discharged. Steve tells her that Stephanie showed up at the police station with Alex to confront Owen and they couldn’t talk her out of it. Steve says she shouldn’t have been there but she was defiant and distant. Steve worries that Stephanie might be shutting down on them. Kayla asks what happened with Owen. Steve explains that she was really shaken up and shouldn’t have been there. Steve says he’s never seen that look in her eyes, so he’s really worried about her. Kayla responds that now she is too.

Alex brings Stephanie home to their apartment. Stephanie tells him that it’s good to be home and she’s sorry about what happened earlier with Owen as she completely lost it. Alex assures that he totally understands. Alex tells her how happy he is that she’s back home and beyond blessed to call her his other half. Alex knows she’s been through so much and their life as husband and wife has barely begun, but he wants them to move forward together with the life they always dreamed of. Alex puts her ring on as they say they love each other and they kiss.

JJ feels it sounds like Jeremy still has feelings for Stephanie. Jeremy responds that it doesn’t matter what he feels because she’s married. Jeremy adds that he’s not staying in Salem because of her, but because it wasn’t right for him to be run out of town and accused of crimes he didn’t commit. Jeremy says things have changed and admits he would like the opportunity to make things right with Stephanie. JJ brings up what happened with Owen. Jeremy feels he owes it to himself to stick around and see things through. JJ asks what exactly that means. Jeremy guesses they will see.

Leo sits in his hospital room, writing about how his heart is split down the middle with one side belonging to Javi and the other side belonging to Dimitri. Leo writes that Javi is done with him while Dimitri is locked away in Alamainia, perhaps never to darken his doorway ever again. Leo writes that now Javi and Dimitri are both out of his life, possibly forever, but then Dimitri suddenly enters the room, surprising Leo.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Philip and Maggie talk at Titan. Philip says he understands if she doesn’t like his idea. Maggie says he’s earned some leeway with her with his dedication and remorse. Philip says there’s still a lot going on and much of it is his fault. Maggie says bottom line is he’s family and so is Bonnie, which begs the question of what are they going to do about her damn book.

Justin and Bonnie are at home at the Kiriakis Mansion as Bonnie is signing copies of her book and talking about how excited she is for tomorrow’s book launch party. Bonnie thanks Justin for waiting to read it until it had a real cover and everything. Bonnie asks what he thinks. Justin responds that he doesn’t want to say. Bonnie guesses he didn’t like it. Justin says it’s not that, but it reminded him a lot of Stephanie’s book.

Chanel and Paulina watch over Trey after getting him to sleep. Paulina suggests Chanel take a nap too but Chanel says she’s too wound up. Paulina is sorry that Sophia turned up at the adoption hearing. Chanel admits she was so scared of losing Trey again. Paulina encourages that he’s officially theirs and no one can take him from them. Chanel can’t believe of all people to thank for saving the day, it would be EJ.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ texts Theo to ask if he’s still coming by as he has something important to show him. EJ looks up at the portrait of Stefano and then Johnny arrives. Johnny says he just wanted to come by and thank him for everything he did in court to keep Sophia from interfering with the adoption. EJ says he’s his father, so it’s the least he could do. EJ guesses that’s not the only reason he’s here and asks what’s going on. Johnny admits it’s DiMera and that he’s in trouble, so he thinks EJ is the only one who can get him out of it.

Theo meets Gabi in the town square. Theo mentions reading the latest article on Gabi Chic’s overseas expansion and congratulates her, calling it impressive. Gabi asks what she can do for him. Theo responds that it’s actually what he can do for her. Theo slides her a folder and says Gabi Chic may be independent again, but overseas she’ll be dealing with a lot of logistics. Theo feels she needs to partner with a company that can handle it all. Theo says he knows every company will be coming her way, so he wanted to throw DiMera’s hat in the ring first since he’ll be returning as CEO. Gabi questions if he can really keep her costs that low. Theo assures he can and calls it the best deal for her. Theo adds that it still might be an uphill battle on getting Gabi Chic because one of the people he will be battling is Philip, but remarks that he’s never minded a little competition.

Maggie asks Philip why Kate would escalate the plagiarism matter to legal without consulting them. Philip says it might be their saving grace since they can’t make their next loan payment, but if DiMera are forced to pay up, they might can swing it. Philip points out that Maggie has read both books and sees the similarities. Maggie argues that Johnny doesn’t want to settle and even if they won in court, the loan payment would be long past due. Philip feels there has to be a way to speed things up. Philip then asks about suing Bonnie personally but Maggie says absolutely not. Philip argues that if they don’t, she might not have a roof over her head at all.

Bonnie tells Justin that she was inspired to write romance from reading Stephanie’s book. Justin says that is very clear. Bonnie questions the way he said that and insists her book is completely original. Justin says she’s not questioning her mind, but he sees a lot of similarities in the plot and many passages. Bonnie suggests he’s just too close to it and insists there’s nothing wrong. Justin says he’s not a writer, but he is a lawyer, and he’s afraid she may have a huge legal problem on her hands.

Johnny tells EJ about Bonnie being summoned and that he should’ve gone straight to DiMera’s lawyers. EJ tells him that he did the right thing coming to him and promises that by the end of it, Kate will be begging for mercy. Johnny doesn’t know that they need to go all scorched earth on them but he appreciates EJ having his back. Johnny says that Theo is about to retake the reins and he did not want to leave him with any mess, hoping he’d already have a solution by the time Theo came back. EJ encourages that he will. Johnny asks if he really thinks they can win this. EJ responds that everything is a roll of the dice in front of a jury, but plagiarism is hard to prove. Johnny asks what their gameplan and strategy is. EJ says he will have to examine a side by side but suggests they could say Bonnie’s work is a parody. Johnny says it sounds promising. EJ first asks how Johnny came about publishing the book in the first place.

Chanel tells Paulina that after all the pain and suffering that EJ has caused, she never thought she’d feel anything but hate for him, but questions how she could not be grateful after what he did yesterday. Paulina says she’s as grateful as she is that EJ shut down Sophia but argues that one kind gesture does not erase all the terrible things he’s done. Chanel agrees but says the hearing reminded her that EJ is part of her kid’s family whether she likes it or not. Paulina then questions if she’s considering letting EJ back in to their lives.

Maggie tells Philip not to put that out in the universe as they will find a way to make the payment. Philip argues that they need to face facts that they don’t have the money and the clock is ticking, so they need to consider all options. Maggie says she draws the line at going after Bonnie and adds that Bonnie and Justin will consider it enough of a betrayal when they find out about the lawsuit. Philip says he has to swing by the Salem Inn to take care of some things. Maggie hopes he knows what he’s getting himself in to as Philip then exits the office.

Justin wants to show Bonnie what he’s talking about. Bonnie says not right now but Justin insists it’s important. Bonnie thinks he’s making something out of nothing. Justin then brings up a page from Stephanie’s book and that in Bonnie’s book, she wrote almost the same thing. Bonnie says she just used a thesaurus. Justin is afraid of her being sued and can’t believe no one at DiMera caught this. Bonnie insists that they would have if there was a problem. Justin tells her that it does open DiMera Publishing up for litigation and they could be sued. Justin adds that Titan could also come after her personally. Bonnie argues that he wouldn’t let his family do that. Justin suggests stopping it before it gets there by getting ahead of it. Bonnie asks what to do. Justin says they return the advance and tell both parties that any plagiarism was inadvertent and pull the book before it hits shelves. Bonnie says he has to be kidding and refuses to do that.

Johnny admits to EJ that he never read Stephanie’s book and just knew it was a huge seller, so when he got Bonnie’s manuscript, he pushed it through without giving legal enough time to do due diligence. EJ argues that those lawyers are paid a lot to prevent a situation like this. Johnny blames himself for rushing them for his own selfish reasons because he wanted to leave his mark on DiMera before he left and make Stefano proud, but all he did was leave the company in shambles. EJ tells Johnny that he’ll be fine. Johnny asks where he’s going to work after this and questions who is going to hire him after this, worrying that he’ll be a joke in the corporate world. EJ encourages that he did an excellent job running DiMera and he does not believe this situation is in any way his fault.

Paulina questions Chanel if she’s considering letting EJ back in her life. Chanel points out that Johnny told her he’d like to have some type of relationship with his father and after he stepped up for them, she agreed to consider it. Paulina admits that she and Marlena recently talked about how trying to keep EJ from his grandson is a lost cause. Chanel agrees and suggests that’s why she’s considered opening that door just a little but Paulina disagrees and tells her that she needs to shut that door completely and lock it tight. Chanel thought she just said she talked about Marlena. Paulina says that was before the adoption hearing and argues that EJ shows up to do a favor but you don’t realize that by accepting his help, it’s like making a deal with the devil.

Gabi tells Theo that he’s given her a lot to think about, but choosing a partner won’t be an easy decision. Theo hoped they could keep personal feelings out of this since it is business. Gabi remarks that he’s sounding more like his uncle every day. Theo knows his family hasn’t set the bar high when it comes to doing good in the world, but says he’s going to change that. Theo declares that it’s going to be an amazing ride and he wants her to be on it, but Philip arrives interrupting them as he greets Gabi with kisses. Theo says he was just leaving. Philip invites him to stay for a round of coffee but Theo declines and says he’s late for a meeting. Theo says goodbye to Gabi and quickly walks away. Philip asks Gabi what that was about.

Johnny thanks EJ for trying to make him feel better, but says he’s the one who found Bonnie’s book and convinced DiMera to publish it. EJ remarks that it sounds like the book found him. EJ asks if he really believes it was a convenience that Xander asked him to meet at the Pub, took Bonnie’s book out of his briefcase and just happened to step away. Johnny says he had to deal with a text message and it happens all the time. EJ asks why Xander called that meeting. Johnny says it was to allow him to stay longer at DiMera. EJ points out that it was long enough to publish Bonnie’s book and talks about they claimed to have never read it but then turn around to slap him with a lawsuit. EJ insists that it was all setup and planned. Johnny argues that they wouldn’t do that to him and talks about Kate, Maggie, and Philip all being so good to him. EJ says that was since they were at odds. EJ declares that at the end of the day, Johnny is a DiMera and a Kiriakis wouldn’t think twice about using him to save their company. Johnny declares that he’s then even more of an idiot than he thought he was if they laid out a trap and he walked right in to it. Johnny feels that he’ll be a laughing stock and a complete embarrassment to his family. EJ argues that he’s done nothing wrong and his family is right here. EJ declares that he’s here to help him and they are not going to get away with this as they are going to fight and win. Johnny thanks EJ for his support. EJ responds that he’d do anything for him as they hug. Johnny then exits the mansion. EJ then gets a text from Theo that he’s on his way.

Chanel assures Paulina that she’s going in to this with her eyes open and that she knows exactly how EJ operates, but if Johnny wants to have a relationship with his father, it’s not her place to tell him that he can’t. Paulina asks even if it means protecting her family. Chanel points out that EJ protected her family yesterday. Paulina argues that it wasn’t out of the goodness of his heart and was just so that she will owe him, insisting that EJ can’t be trusted. Chanel says she knows and that opening up to EJ a little does not mean they are completely letting their guard down. Chanel gets that Paulina hates EJ, but brings up how she supported Theo when he wanted to embrace his DiMera side, so she asks why it’s so different for Johnny and where this is all coming from.

EJ visits Lexie and tells her that she is about to have a very special guest.

Gabi tells Philip that she and Theo were just talking business and asks why he’s not at the office. Philip says he needs to speak to the Salem Inn about checking out. Gabi asks why. Philip says he was thinking about their talk earlier about how they spend all their time in a tiny hotel room and need more space, so he asked Maggie if he could move back in to the Kiriakis Mansion. Gabi says good for him but he’s Victor’s son so he shouldn’t have to ask. Philip adds that he also asked if someone else could join him there. Gabi asks what he means. Philip then asks Gabi to move in with him. Philip knows it’s a bit of a surprise but they’ve been seeing each other for almost six months, so he thinks he’s proven how solid they are. Gabi doesn’t doubt where they stand, but if everything he’s been saying is true, the mansion might not belong to their family much longer. Philip says he’s not putting that out in the Universe and that they will find a way to make the payment. Philip believes he’s showing his dedication by moving back in to the house. Philip knows it’s a risk but he believes in them too and he wants his home to be her home. Philip asks if Gabi will take this leap of faith with him.

Johnny goes to Titan where Maggie tells him that he just missed Philip. Johnny remarks that he’d be less likely to restrain himself if he was talking to him. Maggie says she just found out about the lawsuit which Johnny doubts. Maggie says she intends to find out more about it. Maggie assures that he’s position in Titan is safe and they are happy to have him back. Johnny responds that now he knows why she was so excited to see him go and had no problem loaning him out to the competition. Maggie questions what he’s implying. Johnny says he’s calling it like it is and declares that her family set him up.

Bonnie tells Justin that he can’t pull her book as she didn’t put all that work in to it just to have no one read it. Justin knows it’s heartbreaking but it’s a much better option than losing a lawsuit. Bonnie argues that she did not copy a single word. Bonnie admits One Stormy Night may have been on her brain while writing but insists that she didn’t steal anything on purpose. Justin says it’s about the degree of similarity. Bonnie declares that she’s not pulling the book, end of story. Bonnie states that her book launch party is tomorrow and she’s going to be there, but if Justin doesn’t believe in her then maybe he shouldn’t be there.

Theo meets EJ at the DiMera Mansion. EJ thanks him for coming. Theo says he doesn’t have a lot of time as he has to get to work. EJ says he will cut to the chase and presents him with a gift box. Theo opens it and it’s a briefcase. EJ says he wanted him to go back to work in style. Theo says he could use the upgrade and he appreciates it, but he could’ve had it delivered. Theo asks if there’s another reason he asked him to stop by. EJ admits there is something he needs to show him, or rather someone.

Chanel questions why Paulina is dead set against EJ being around her and Johnny at all. Paulina says she’s sorry and just had a lot on her mind. Chanel asks if it’s about the important decision she had to make a few weeks ago and the tough choice she said she was praying for guidance about. Paulina responds that it actually is.

EJ brings Theo down to the secret room. Theo isn’t sure he wants to know what EJ is up to. EJ assures that he does and what he’s about to see is about to change so many people’s lives for the better, especially his. Theo says he doesn’t understand. EJ says he will soon. EJ tells Theo to brace himself as he may not believe his eyes. EJ then brings Theo in, where he is shocked to see his mother Lexie in the hospital bed. Theo grabs EJ, questioning what he did. EJ understands he’s in shock but says he will explain. EJ tells Theo that this is the culmination of everything Stefano worked towards, victory over death itself, as he neve gave up on trying to bring Lexie back to them. EJ assures Theo that it is really Alexandra DiMera Carver and they’ve been taking excellent care of her. Theo realizes she was in the pod at the clinic. EJ states that he believes she will live again soon and tells Theo that it’s okay to talk to her. EJ tells him that what they have here is nothing short of a miracle.

Chanel knows Paulina couldn’t get in to details but asks if she made her decision. Paulina responds that she did and she went with her conscience instead of her heart, so she just has to wait and see how it all plays out. Paulina says she needs to get to her office. Chanel asks if she’s sure she doesn’t want to talk. Paulina says she can’t right now and needs to go. Paulina adds that she’s so glad everything worked out for Trey. Chanel tells her to take care of herself and she loves her as Paulina then exits. Chanel then picks up Bonnie’s book One Rainy Afternoon and sits down to see what all the fuss is about.

Justin tells Bonnie that he’s just trying to protect her. Bonnie doesn’t want his protection and just wants him to be proud of her. Justin says he’s always proud of her but Bonnie argues that he’s not and that he thinks of her as a phony and an impostor. Philip and Gabi arrive as Bonnie storms out and Justin chases after her. Philip welcomes Gabi to the Kiriakis Mansion, joking that they offer complimentary fireworks like that.

Maggie tells Johnny that she doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Johnny brings up that she and Philip went to bat for him with Xander, insisting he extend his stay with DiMera until Theo recovered, and he thought that was an act of kindness. Maggie says it was. Johnny questions it just being a coincidence that Xander left him with Bonnie’s novel and Kate encouraged him to go for it. Johnny argues that they dangled it in front of him because they needed the cash and banked on him making a rookie mistake. Johnny guesses when they blindsided DiMera with the lawsuit, they’d jump at the opportunity to settle but they aren’t going to. Johnny gets that they are desperate but argues that a move like this could ruin his reputation and entire future, so there’s no way in hell that he’s letting them get away with it. Maggie admits the timing is curious but says that’s not how she does business and she will prove it to him once he’s back at Titan where he belongs. Johnny wishes he could believe her, but he doesn’t, and he can’t see himself working at Titan ever again as he then storms out.

Theo says he always dreamed about seeing his mother again. EJ apologizes for keeping him in the dark but says he had to wait until he was sure the experiment would be successful. Theo asks if it will be. EJ says he can’t make promises but he’s optimistic as all signs are positive. EJ tells Theo that for now, no one else can know about this, not even his father.

Philip guesses not much has changed since last time he lived in the Kiriakis Mansion as it’s all drama, all the time. Gabi asks if he’s sure he wants to move back in. Philip says only if she’s still sure she wants to join him since she can change her mind. Gabi assures that she won’t and that a little drama won’t scare her away as they kiss. Philip decides they will go pick out their room and head upstairs.

Johnny goes home where Chanel tells him that Trey is still asleep but is bound to wake up soon. She notices Johnny’s demeanor and asks what’s wrong. Johnny responds that Titan just screwed him over and there’s no way he can go back there.

Maggie calls Kate and leaves a message that she needs to see her right away.

Johnny informs Chanel that apparently Bonnie’s book is too similar to One Stormy Night and now they are facing a lawsuit. Chanel says she only got a few chapters in and felt like she’s read it already. Johnny complains that they played him. Chanel wishes she picked it up sooner and could’ve flagged it. Johnny assures it’s not her fault as it’s his mess and now he has to clean it up.

EJ asks Theo if he can trust him with this secret. Theo doesn’t understand why they can’t tell Abe since he has a right to know. EJ argues that no one was supposed to find out until he was sure it could work as he didn’t want to get people’s hopes up or risk anyone interfering. Theo asks why tell him now then. EJ responds that he may need to make a decision before Lexie opens her eyes. Theo asks what he means. EJ says they both know how Lexie feels about the family business and Theo being CEO of DiMera would be her worst nightmare. EJ says he wanted to give Theo the chance to decide where in life she will find him and to have the opportunity to make changes. Theo sits back down and says it just can’t be, but EJ assures that it is.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Tate and Holly meet Brady at his home. Brady tells them about Rachel informing him that the pills she gave Holly were from Sophia and that she had no idea that Sophia switched the pills. Holly says she can’t say she’s surprised. Brady asks if they knew. Tate says they didn’t know but they talked about it being a possibility that Sophia was involved. Brady points out that Rachel was innocent in all of this and that Sophia manipulated her. Holly says it makes total sense and complains that Sophia is still obsessed with Tate and still trying to ruin her life.

Sophia goes to the Brady Pub to ask Roman if he will rehire her, pointing out that he was always nice to her. Roman questions if she’s serious after what she did and instead tells her that she has five seconds to get the hell out of his Pub.

At the hospital, Sarah and Xander watch over Victoria. Sarah talks about Victoria getting out of the hospital while Xander complains that it’s taking so long and asks if she can pull some strings. Sarah tells Xander to be patient and asks if it’s really that difficult to be stuck in a room with her. Xander responds that it is.

Cat and Mark have breakfast in the town square and talk about having a lot to catch up on. Cat tells him that the police have been asking a lot of questions about her work with EJ, between the pod and Stephanie being stashed in a secret room behind the lab. Cat says she doesn’t know anything and that she covered for Mark, which he questions as he insists that he doesn’t know anything either. Cat accuses Mark of lying.

Gwen joins EJ in the living room of the DiMera Mansion. EJ wants an update on Dimitri. Gwen responds that nobody has heard from him, including Leo. EJ says that’s surprising since they fled the country together. Gwen says that Dimitri has been detained in Alamainia on suspicion of killing Vivian. EJ reveals that he is aware, so Gwen guesses that Dimitri didn’t do it because EJ did. EJ says aside from all the havoc Vivian caused and the poor souls that she buried alive, she tried to kill him and his family so she got what she deserved, but declares that he didn’t kill her. Gwen brings up EJ telling her the other night that Vivian wouldn’t be a problem, so she guesses he didn’t do it himself but he gave the order. EJ confirms that he did but it couldn’t be carried out because his man was too late and by the time he arrived, Vivian was already dead.

Mark tells Cat that he hasn’t done anything illegal and he won’t, so she can relax. Cat says that would be easier if he told her what he was doing. Mark reminds her that he signed an NDA so he can’t talk to anyone about it. Mark adds that he appreciates her covering for him, but thinks she could be grateful for all the covering he’s done for her.

Xander tells Sarah that it’s not difficult to be in the same room with her because he hates her, but the opposite, and he knows Sarah feels the exact same way. Sarah claims to have no idea what he’s talking about. Xander thinks he does and that’s why she kicked him out before. Sarah denies kicking him out while Xander feels she picked a fight to get him to leave because she couldn’t admit the real reason that she can’t resist him.

Holly and Tate explain to Brady how they believe Sophia switched her meds with Holly’s skin supplements when Holly’s purse was knocked over during her visit to Bayview. Holly calls it sick even for her and mentions that now Sophia is out of Bayview. Tate declares that she won’t be for long.

Sophia exits the Pub and runs in to Kristen, who says she was just the person she’s looking for.

Gwen questions Vivian already being dead. EJ says that’s what his operative said and there seems to be proof, so it’s possible that Dimitri one upped him but he can’t help but wonder if Vivian is really dead or running scared. Gwen comments on it working out while EJ guesses if Dimitri is in prison in Alamainia, he can’t implicate her in his kidnapping. Gwen says she just needs her attorney to unfreeze her assets. EJ states that using Dimitri’s money to fund the drug was a good idea, but they’ll no longer need his help once they take the drug to market which EJ assures won’t be long. Gwen feels that’s being optimistic without knowing where Dr. Rolf is. EJ says if there’s one thing Dr. Rolf knows how to do, it’s evade the authorities, so he trusts that he will get the job done. Gwen hopes he’s right, otherwise they are screwed because she doesn’t think Mark Green is up to the task.

Cat questions Mark saying he’s been covering for her. Mark informs her that they have security cameras in the lab, so EJ asked him to review the footage from the night Stephanie was rescued and when he did, he saw Cat letting Kayla in to the lab. Cat argues that she had to because her daughter’s life depended on it. Mark says he gets it, but she should be more careful because you never know who could be watching. Cat asks if EJ knows.

Sarah tells Xander to get over himself. Xander asks if she’s saying he’s wrong. Sarah argues that he went on a rant the other morning, woke up Victoria, and stormed out on his own but of course he concludes that she forced him out because he’s so irresistible. Sarah comments on how big his ego is. Xander asks if she had Justin look over the revised custody papers. Sarah confirms that she did and she signed them, so they are being filed as they speak. Xander asks if she will make him wait until everything’s official before he can see Victoria again. Sarah says no, but before she okays any visits, he has to promise her that Gwen will not be joining him because she doesn’t want her anywhere near their daughter. Xander assures that won’t be a problem and that he and Gwen are not having a relationship, they are just having fun which Sarah mocks. Xander brings up Sarah seeing Brady and he hasn’t demanded she keep him away from their daughter. Sarah calls that completely different because Brady is a good person and a friend of the family. Xander asks if they are not in a relationship. Sarah calls it not his business but says they are not.

Kristen tells Sophia that Brady told her that she made their daughter her drug mule and switched Holly’s pills. Kristen says she may have fooled the morons at Bayview but she’s been on to her from the jump. Kristen accuses her of preying on Rachel and making her an accessory to a crime. Sophia tries to deny it. Kristen tells her to save it and warns her that she’s lucky the judge didn’t hear any of this or else, Rachel wouldn’t be the only one shipped back to Bayview. Kristen declares that now Sophia is out and something must be done to rectify the situation. Sophia apologizes and asks Kristen not to hurt her. Kristen says she wouldn’t do that, because Sophia is going to make it up to her.

Holly still doesn’t get how Sophia pulled this off from Bayview and how she let Rachel know the pills were coming in the mail. Brady reveals that Rachel had posed for Sophia at bed check more than once, allowing Sophia to sneak out, and that Rachel was caught stealing money from his wallet so that Sophia could buy a phone two months ago. Holly realizes Arianna was right when she swore she saw Sophia sneaking through the town square in a hoodie, but she said there was no way. Tate feels Sophia needs to go down for this. Brady agrees and says there’s a lot of evidence against her, but the problem is that it’s coming from a 10 year old girl in a psychiatric hospital, so any defense attorney would eat her up. Tate argues that they will gather up more evidence and do whatever it takes to prove Sophia is guilty.

Sophia questions Kristen wanting her to make it up to her. Kristen says it seems fair and that she would never dream of hurting her. Kristen adds that she is furious that Sophia involved Rachel in her schemes and betrayed her in the way she did, but it’s not her fault that Rachel got sent back to Bayview as that lies squarely on Marlena and EJ. Sophia is glad she doesn’t totally blame her for what happened. Kristen thinks they can actually help each other.

Mark tells Cat that EJ does not know that she snuck Kayla in to the lab, explaining that EJ only asks to see the security footage if there’s an issue, so he erased that footage so she doesn’t get in trouble with her boss. Cat thanks him. Mark then questions how she knew the code to the electronic door.

Gwen asks if EJ has heard anything about the investigation into the pod. EJ says Rafe and the FBI are analyzing every inch of it, but it was scrubbed with bleach so they’ll have no idea who was in it or what it was for. Gwen remarks that they will know soon enough. EJ says that’s true but he has some leverage to exert. EJ mentions that Theo will be coming by so he asks Gwen to make herself scarce and warns that goes double for Xander. Gwen tells him not to worry because she and Xander don’t have anything on the books today.

Xander is glad to hear that Sarah and Brady are taking things slowly. Xander then gets a text from Kate that Johnny doesn’t want to settle and without that money, Titan will default on the loan payment. Sarah asks if she and Victoria are keeping him from something important. Xander says it’s not a good work situation. Sarah asks if it has something to do with Maggie’s house. Xander says it might, so Sarah says he needs to go then. Sarah assures that she’s not kicking him out and that they will still be there for awhile. Xander still hates the idea of not being there when Victoria leaves the hospital as he doesn’t want her to wake up and think he just took off. Sarah assures that she won’t and then invites him to come over around bedtime to tuck Victoria in. Xander thanks her and says he will. Xander tells Victoria that he will see her later and exits.

Cat tells Mark that she saw EJ punch in the code once and memory served when she needed it. Cat says she’s grateful that Mark covered for her as when Kayla asked to search the lab, she knew EJ wouldn’t approve but she was so scared and desperate. Mark repeats that he gets it and he’ll always have her back. Cat says she’ll always have his too.

Xander makes a call that goes to voicemail. He says he just got Kate’s text and says to call him back as it’s an emergency.

Brady goes to the hospital to visit Sarah and Victoria. Sarah tells him that Victoria is getting released today which Brady says is great. Sarah mentions hearing that Rachel got sent back to Bayview and asks how she’s doing. Brady says she’s okay all things considered, but she won’t believe this.

Sophia questions how she and Kristen can help each other, but Tate and Holly walk up as Tate questions what’s going on here. Kristen claims that she was just telling Sophia to stay the hell away from her daughter and walks off.

EJ approaches Cat and Mark in the town square, calling them his two favorite employees. Mark takes that as his cue to get back to work. EJ says he will allow him to finish breakfast but Mark says it’s okay as they were done. Mark tells Cat that he will see her later and walks away as EJ then sits with Cat. EJ says it’s nice to see her share a meal with her brother as he hasn’t seen them together in awhile. Cat says they’ve been busy with work and mentions Mark being happy to work for him. EJ says he’s glad to have him. Cat calls that a relief as she was worried that Mark could lose his job if anything comes of the investigation in to the pod since Mark is on parole. EJ tells her not to worry about that. Cat asks about Paulina’s investigation in to the use of electricity with the lab as she’s not sure what ended up happening. EJ responds that Paulina decided that wasn’t necessary after all.

Xander goes to the DiMera Mansion and joins Gwen in her room. Gwen says it’s about time and admits she was very surprised to get his call as she asks him what’s going on. Xander says he doesn’t want to talk as he removes his shirt and begins kissing Gwen in bed.

EJ tells Cat that he does have a personal matter that he needs her to take care of as he needs details arranged for a gathering and he needs someone he trusts to take care of it and someone who has a high tolerance for the absurd. Cat admits she’s intrigued by this gathering. EJ then reveals it’s the reading of Stefano’s will.

After having sex, Gwen asks Xander what she owes this late morning delight to or if he’s going to stay silent. Xander responds that he just needed a little stress relief. Gwen asks if that’s all she is to him. Xander notes that she wasn’t complaining a few minutes ago. Gwen questions what has him all wound up. Xander says it’s just the usual. Gwen says after the morning she’s had, she could use the stress relief too. Xander asks if she cares to share. Gwen decides if he’s not talking, neither is she as they continue kissing.

Brady informs Sarah about Sophia switching Holly’s pills. Sarah can’t believe she did that but she’s relieved it wasn’t Rachel. Sarah says she does have a lot of sympathy for Sophia going through a lot, but this is criminal. Brady says his instinct was to confront Sophia because Rachel’s never had a lot of friends, so when Sophia took a liking to her, she was so happy and felt like she had an ally but it turns out it wasn’t real. Brady states that Rachel is sad, hurt, and confused. Brady complains that little girls aren’t supposed to go through stuff like that. Sarah says she’s so sorry. Brady adds that he didn’t confront Sophia and decided to leave it to the police, but he’s gathering evidence because he doesn’t want Rachel to have to testify in another trial. Sarah says she’s there if she can do anything. Brady thanks her and mentions talking to Rachel’s doctors, who said she’s doing better than they thought as she’s taking her meds and going to therapy. Sarah says that’s wonderful as Brady says all indications are that Rachel will be home soon.

Sophia tells Tate and Holly that it’s so funny to see them here. Holly tells her to stop the innocent act as they know what she did. Sophia claims to not know what they are talking about. Tate asks if she’s serious as Holly accuses her of switching her pills. Sophia asks what pills. Holly brings up Sophia taking pictures of her while she was asleep to make it look like she had an affair with Johnny and now she tried to poison her. Sophia says she’s sounding paranoid. Holly complains about Sophia scrolling through her social media like a pathetic fangirl. Sophia tells Holly that the whole world doesn’t revolve around her and she just got out of Bayview, so now she’s trying to get her life back. Tate promises that Sophia will get what’s coming to her and warns her to stay out of their way as he and Holly head in to the Pub. Sophia smiles and says to herself “April Fools”. Roman greets Holly and Tate in the Pub and says it’s good to see them looking so happy and mentions seeing them outside with Sophia. Tate says it wasn’t planned. Roman tells them about Sophia trying to get her job back but says he wouldn’t want her back after what she did to them. Holly decides she won’t let anything Sophia does bother her as she refuses to be her victim ever again. Holly declares that they are onto Sophia so they can stay ahead of her and get her before she gets them.

Sarah gets Victoria ready to go home. Brady assumes Xander is giving her a ride home but Sarah informs him that he had a work emergency, so Brady offers the ride and they exit together.

Cat questions EJ thinking the reading of Stefano’s will is going to be absurd. EJ says he’s not counting on his siblings to behave and there’s a good chance it could become contentious. Cat brings up Susan and feeling she’s good at keeping the peace. EJ informs her that Susan has unfortunately left town and he’s not going to call her back just for this when he knows Cat can handle it. EJ adds that Cat doesn’t have to do this and could turn him down but Cat feels that wouldn’t be right. EJ notes that it’s a personal matter and not a requirement of her job. Cat assures that she will do it and would love to help. EJ insists that she will be rewarded handsomely for her troubles. EJ says he knows the terms of the will since he drew it up himself so he believes he will be rewarded, but when it comes to Stefano, one never knows.

Gwen asks Xander if he wants anything from the kitchen. Xander says just protein. Gwen jokes about that giving him the stamina. Gwen tells Xander not to go anywhere while she’s gone since EJ is not fond of having him there. Xander asks where he would go anyway. Gwen says she’ll be back in a flash and exits the room. Xander then gets a call and says it’s about bloody time. Xander says he needs them to move 5 million dollars to the legit side of Titan’s books and to cover their tracks. Xander says that’s what he likes to hear and hangs up.

Update written by Joseph

Johnny gets a delivery at home of Bonnie’s book One Rainy Afternoon. Chanel congratulates him and says she’s excited to read it. Johnny mentions wanting to leave DiMera Publishing with a good boost before he hands the reins back over to Theo. Chanel asks where Trey is. Johnny informs her that he’s at the library with the babysitter and should be back in an hour. Chanel asks if they are sure it’s a good idea for Trey to be out and about while Sophia is out plotting to destroy their lives. Johnny mocks the idea that Sophia would take him from the babysitter in broad daylight and reminds Chanel that Sophia admitted in court that she doesn’t want him. Chanel complains that she doesn’t want them to have him either. Chanel argues that Sophia might not be able to steal him but she can cause trouble. Johnny stops her and reveals that he already called EJ to have a security detail keeping an eye on Trey. Chanel is glad but thought he wasn’t worried. Johnny says it never hurts to be a little extra cautious. Johnny says he has to get to a meeting and tells Chanel that he loves her as he exits.

Sophia returns home to her bedroom and hugs a teddy bear as she then picks up her packed bag, but her mom Amy comes in and is shocked to see her.

Gabi sits in the town square while on the phone with Rafe, who informs her that the handwriting experts on Stefan were still inconclusive. Gabi guesses they may never know if her divorce papers were forged and says she knows he will keep trying as they hang up. Gabi then tells herself that Stefan is her past and Philip is her future.

Philip and Kate talk at Titan. Kate tells Philip that after Stephanie’s kidnapping, sales for both of her books have been up so she thinks they should capitalize on her trending, pointing out that she is keeping their one successful division afloat. Philip argues that Stephanie has been through Hell and back. Kate argues that she was back at work weeks after being shot and buried alive, so she thinks Stephanie can submit a proposal. Kate asks Philip to call Stephanie, but he refuses, declaring that they are going to give her time and space to heal.

Stephanie sleeps in her hospital bed and dreams of Owen coming to her, then wakes up in a panic to see Alex at her side and tells him that she’s so glad it’s him.

Owen is brought to the interrogation room at the police station where Jeremy arrives to confront him.

Amy questions what Sophia is doing home and says she’ll get her a piece of paper to communicate but Sophia stops her and reveals that she can talk, leaving Amy in disbelief.

Kate questions if Philip’s mood is because of Vivian’s death. Philip asks her to refrain from saying something nasty and says he gets that they had a complicated history. Kate reminds him that Vivian buried her alive and thought he would want to rewrite his history with her as well. Philip points out that Vivian carried him so that Kate and Victor could have a child. Kate argues that she stole him and then tried to claim him as her own, which was sickening and unforgivable. Kate decides she won’t dance on Vivian’s grave because she doesn’t believe the bitch is dead.

Stephanie tells Alex that she slept a little better last night but it’s hard to get rest when people are coming and going all the time. Chanel then arrives with balloons to visit. Alex hugs Chanel and congratulates her, noting that Johnny told him he could tell Stephanie but with everything going on, he didn’t get to. Chanel then informs Stephanie that she’s pregnant. Stephanie says that’s wonderful and that she obviously had no idea. Chanel adds that they also formally adopted Trey yesterday which Alex congratulates her on as well. Chanel mentions that the balloons are from the party they were too tired to have. Stephanie thanks her and says it does brighten the room. Chanel hugs Stephanie and says she’s just so glad she is okay.

Owen questions what Jeremy wants. Jeremy responds that he just wants to talk and he’s going to listen.

Philip questions Kate thinking Vivian is still alive. Kate thinks it’s possible, pointing out that Vivian disappears and then is suddenly buried without an autopsy. Kate adds that she asked to have the body exhumed but no one would do it which she finds convenient. Kate brings up that Vivian has faked her death before to avoid prison when she tried to kill Lani. Kate asks if Vivian has tried to contact Philip. Philip says of course not and declares that she’s dead. Kate says he can believe that if he wants, but if she was Peter’s accomplice then the DiMeras would want her dead, so either she got ahead of them or the DiMeras rid the world of her but she bets on the former.

Chanel tells Alex and Stephanie that she heard they got married. Stephanie confirms that she sprung it on Alex while Alex explains that they were pretending to draw out the stalker but Stephanie decided they would do it for real on Valentine’s Day and calls it the best surprise of his life. Chanel calls that so romantic. Alex says they will do the big celebration with friends and family next year, adding that they hope Chanel and Johnny can make it with Trey and their future child. Alex asks if Chanel will be sticking around for awhile because he has something to take care of. Stephanie assures that she’d be fine but Alex says he is not leaving her alone. Chanel agrees to stay and tells Alex to take as long as he needs since she and Stephanie have some catching up to do.

Amy questions Sophia being able to talk and why she didn’t tell her she was leaving Bayview. Sophia responds that she’s an adult, so she told them she was leaving and signed herself out. Amy asks if the doctors supported that decision. Sophia says that they didn’t have much choice. Sophia reveals that she still had her keys, so she just let herself in and crashed. Amy calls it a miracle and says she’s back home where she belongs as she hugs her.

Philip joins Gabi in the town square and says he’s sorry for being late as he got stuck at the office with Kate badmouthing Vivian. Philip says that normally wouldn’t phase him but she just died. Gabi acknowledges that she and Kate both have their feelings about Vivian, but says that doesn’t matter now and what matters is how he feels, so she asks how he’s holding up. Philip responds that he’s okay, except Kate thinks Vivian may have faked her death. Gabi points out that it wouldn’t be the first time and she does love messing with people’s heads. Gabi asks if Philip thinks it’s possible.

Jeremy confronts Owen over kidnapping Stephanie again and framing him for it when he doesn’t even know him. Owen talks about everyone knowing his history, making him the perfect scapegoat. Owen adds that the timing of his return was very convenient for him. Jeremy calls him a son of a bitch, blaming him for his own family doubting him, the cops coming to his school, and his reputation being ruined. Jeremy says that Owen will make it up to him and calls him a pathetic loser. Jeremy declares that he will sue Owen for all he’s worth. Owen responds that he’s not worth anything, so it would be a waste of time. Jeremy adds that he’ll sue the DiMeras too for hiring him. Owen points out that he technically worked for Dr. Rolf, so Jeremy says he’ll sue him too. Owen warns that he wouldn’t mess with those people as they’ll hurt him way worse than he did and make his life a living Hell, or worse.

Amy tells Sophia that she’s dreamed of this for so long and that she’s prayed for her recovery. Amy repeats that it’s a miracle, adding that her dad and brothers will be over the moon that she’s back. Sophia stops her and informs her that she’s not staying. Amy questions where she’s going. Sophia says she is going anywhere but here because this is not her home anymore.

Johnny goes to meet Kate at Titan and says it feels weird being back in the building after working at DiMera for so long. Kate says they are here to talk about his return to Titan, but first there is something they need to discuss.

Philip acknowledges Vivian’s deceit, but says the way Ivan was sobbing on the phone didn’t sound fake to him. Gabi asks if he really thinks Vivian is gone. Philip admits he doesn’t know as there’s no end to the crazy stuff Vivian has pulled, but one thing she’s never done is surrender. Philip feels faking her death and hiding would be giving up which is just not her. Gabi admits part of her hopes that Kate is right since Vivian is the one person who had answers about Stefan’s last days, like if he still loved her or if they’re really divorced. Gabi says if Vivian is dead, she may never get those answers.

Chanel talks to Stephanie about her pregnancy being rough at first but she’s getting past the morning sickness and the worry to the part where she can just be excited. Stephanie tells her that she looks fantastic. Chanel says the same to her after what she’s been through. Stephanie responds that she is a total mess.

Jeremy tells Owen that he’s not worried about Dr. Rolf or the DiMeras, but he should be worried about him. Jeremy talks about doing bad things in the past and having a temper and violent tendencies. Jeremy adds that he worked on those things in therapy but that rage is still inside of him. Owen says that’s why he lost Stephanie and calls him a loser too since they both lost Stephanie, but remarks that he could get another chance. Jeremy grabs Owen and screams that he will rip him limb from limb if he ever goes near Stephanie again, right as Alex enters the room.

Philip tells Gabi that he’s so sorry for what Vivian put her through with Stefan. Gabi thanks him but says it’s not like he had anything to do with it. Philip assures that if he knew what she was up to, he would’ve tired to stop her. Philip says he does have something to do with what’s happening at Titan and if he wouldn’t have gone along with Vivian’s plan that affected so many lives, none of this would be happening if he just stood up to her. Philip states that he went along with the fraud, the merger went bust, and now they are scrambling to keep the company afloat. Gabi points out that at least he and Xander are on the same page. Philip is grateful for that and that his family came together to fight but worries the cracks are starting to show as he complains that Kate is champing at the bit to get pages out of Stephanie while she’s still in the hospital which Gabi feels isn’t surprising. Philip says it still pisses him off, but realizes he should be pissed at himself for getting them in to this mess in the first place. Philip hopes it’s all worth it and they can save the company. Gabi encourages that she has faith in him.

Kate informs Johnny that it’s come to their attention that several passages from One Rainy Afternoon are derivative from One Stormy Night. Johnny questions if she’s accusing Bonnie of plagiarism. Kate says not intentionally but they are very similar. Johnny says they’ll fix it but Kate says it’s too late since the book is hitting shelves. Johnny questions if she’s going to sue DiMera over an honest mistake. Kate responds that she doesn’t want to do that but Xander is insisting on action, so that’s why she asked to meet so they can come to a mutually agreeable solution.

Amy asks Sophia if she can change her mind. Sophia assures she can’t and talks about she hates being here because her room feels like a prison. Amy says she had no idea she felt that way. Sophia complains that she’s been oblivious to her interests for her entire life and doesn’t even know who she is. Sophia argues that Amy only wanted to control her but she ended up pregnant and in a mental institution while the two people she hates the most are raising her baby. Sophia adds that she went to the court to try to fight the adoption but nobody listened. Sophia shouts that nobody ever listens to her. Amy tells her that she’s listening now and asks what she can do. Sophia responds that she just wants out and away from her, then declares that she’s leaving and not coming back because she’s done while Amy still tries to stop her.

Chanel tells Stephanie that it’s understandable how she feels after what she’s been through. Stephanie responds that it’s over, but she still feels that way. Chanel encourages that she was just a victim of a horrible crime, so it’s okay to feel vulnerable. Stephanie states that almost two decades ago, she thought she learned and changed to become a confident, capable, badass woman but now being Owen Kent’s victim again makes her feel like she has no idea who she is. Chanel insists that she’s strong, smart, and incredibly brave after fighting out of a horrible situation and surviving. Stephanie asks why she keeps ending up in these horrible situations to begin with and attract men who treat her this way, feeling she makes mistake after mistake in these toxic abusive relationships. Chanel points out that she never chose to be with Owen. Stephanie argues that she did choose to publish a romance novel based on her real life experiences as she thought it would be empowering and cathartic. Stephanie admits that it was in the beginning, but then it ended up being poison for Jeremy since her book brought him back to Salem and she completely blew up his life.

Jeremy screams at Owen, asking if he’s getting through to him as he calls him a worthless son of a bitch. Owen sees Alex and jokes that all of Stephanie’s suitors are lining up to berate him. Alex states that Jada said he could speak his piece to the son of a bitch, but he can wait his turn. Jeremy tells him to go for it because he’s done. Alex tells Owen that he’s not one of Stephanie’s suitors, he’s her husband. Alex says he doesn’t have much else to say to him and would rather make him suffer like he made Stephanie suffer, but that would make him no better than him. Owen argues that he’s not any better than him. Alex shouts that he doesn’t know anything about him and calls him a demented freak. Owen says that when he came back to Salem and found out Alex was dating Stephanie, he made it his mission to learn everything he could about him and did a real deep dive online. Owen remarks that it’s no wonder Alex treated women like crap. Alex holds himself back and declares he’s done wasting his time on trash. Owen asks if he’s sure he doesn’t want to know what he found when looking up his name. Owen tells him that according to several message boards, Alex hit on anything that moved, had countless one night stands and threesomes. Alex calls Owen disgusting. Owen argues that he’s not the one who treated women like notches on his belt until he bumped in to Stephanie. Alex warns him about saying her name. Owen complains that Alex never even wanted to be in a serious relationship because he’s a player. Owen asks how Alex could ever be anything but a massive disappointment as a husband and how he could ever be true to one woman forever. Alex says it’s because he’s in love with an amazing woman who loves him and hates Owen. Owen argues that Stephanie is tired of men like him and will pretend to love him until it’s time to break him. Owen remarks that Alex thinks he doesn’t deserve Stephanie, but that he doesn’t either.

Amy tells Sophia that she wants to help her. Sophia tells her to leave her alone. Amy says she can’t do that because she’s her mother, she loves her, and she’s here for whatever she needs. Sophia states that she appreciates that and she is sorry, but she’s too late.

Johnny asks if Kate even read One Rainy Afternoon. Kate admits she hasn’t as Titan has a strict policy against reading unsolicited manuscripts and it wasn’t a good time for them, so it was a hard pass. Johnny argues that she seems so prepared so someone at Titan must have read it. Kate says they did after the fact because protecting their intellectual property is a priority. Johnny brings up fan fiction and 50 Shades of Grey. Kate argues that EL James was inspired by Twilight while Bonnie lifted entire passages from One Stormy Night almost line by line. Kate claims it’s nothing personal and just a cut throat business of publishing. Kate says it’s a hard lesson to learn but his client infringed on a copyright. Johnny asks what she proposes. Kate doesn’t think they have to go to court and there’s probably a sum they can agree on. Johnny says he would have to see the number. Kate then presents him with a number and says there’s been an internal discussion about this. Johnny tells Kate no way.

Chanel tells Stephanie that they all believed it was Jeremy while Stephanie says she’s the reason anyone suspected he was her stalker. Chanel brings up that the mountain of evidence pointed at Jeremy while Stephanie notes that Owen set him up. Stephanie adds that in some ways, Jeremy was a real hero. Stephanie tells Chanel about Jeremy being there for her while they were locked up, being kind and helpful and not the monster everyone thought. Chanel agrees that Jeremy is definitely owed a lot of apologies. Stephanie declares that she just can’t get it right and keeps making the wrong choices and conclusions. Chanel guesses she’s not including Alex in that. Stephanie confirms that Alex is the one good choice she made and cries that they just got married, so they should be blissfully happy and having hot sex, but ever since she was rescued, she practically jumps out of her skin every time he touches her. Chanel assures that Alex understands it will take time and maybe some therapy. Stephanie asks what if that doesn’t work and she never stops feeling this way. Chanel encourages her to talk to Alex about how she’s feeling and let him in.

Alex tells Owen that his past is behind him and that he and Stephanie will remain happily married, so there’s nothing he can do about it. Alex mentions hearing that the district attorney is offering him a deal to spend his life in a nuthouse instead of prison. Alex strongly suggests he takes the deal. Owen asks why, arguing that he’s innocent until proven guilty. Alex warns that the safest place for him is behind bars. Owen asks if that’s a threat. Alex says he’s just being honest that he might want to stay put either in prison or in Bayview, because if he gets out, he won’t have his wife looking over her shoulder, so he will do whatever it takes to eliminate that possibility.

Gabi is glad that Philip feels he can confide in her. Philip repeats that he doesn’t want any secrets between them, so he hopes she feels she can confide in him too about anything. Gabi responds that she does. Philip brings up when they said I love you to one another and says ever since then, he’s been wanting to spend more time with her and not just in his hotel room. Gabi says she’s been thinking the same thing and wishes they had a place they could see each other every day without having to plan it out. Philip decides he’ll see what he can do about that.

Johnny tells Kate that it’s a lot of money. Kate claims it pains her that it’s come to this, but Titan is in a precarious position and they are his employer. Johnny argues that right now they aren’t. Kate reminds Johnny that he should’ve been back a long time ago, but she convinced Xander and Philip to let him stay at DiMera until Theo recovered. Johnny argues that he’s sympathetic to Titan’s situation but he can’t just screw over his family’s company to help her. Kate warns Johnny not to compound a mistake by making an even bigger mistake because if they go to court, he’ll be shelling out a hell of a lot more than what she wrote on the paper. Johnny responds that he’s sorry but he’s not going to settle, so Kate asks what he’s going to do. Johnny declares that he’s going to fight and exits the office.

Stephanie says Chanel and Johnny must be relieved that Trey’s adoption is official. Chanel confirms they are but tells her about Sophia showing up to try and stop them from becoming Trey’s parents, but the judge was having none of it and there’s no way to reverse the decision. Chanel adds that Sophia did check herself out of Bayview and still hates them. Stephanie asks if she thinks Sophia could be dangerous. Chanel says she hopes not, but she’s already tried so hard to hurt them already so she doesn’t put anything past her.

Amy tells Sophia that she’s right that she hasn’t been a good mother and she’s sorry. Amy pleads with Sophia that it’s not too late and says they can start over right now to focus on her future, hopes, and dreams. Amy brings up that Sophia had her heart set on the University of Chicago and suggests she could sign up for summer classes and work part time if she wants to. Sophia repeats that she feels suffocated here. Amy promises that things will be different now and that she can live at home and have her independence. Amy adds that she will support whatever she chooses to do. Amy cries that they’ve missed her and they love her so much. Sophia then agrees to stay for now and admits she doesn’t really have anywhere else to go. Amy hugs her and asks if she wants anything. Sophia decides she will go for a walk. Amy says she will see her when she gets back then as Sophia exits.

Alex exits the interrogation room and asks Jeremy if they can talk for a second. Alex says he knows Jeremy was visiting Stephanie in the hospital yesterday and he didn’t interrupt because they were having a moment. Alex knows they went through something horrible together that he can’t imagine and he’s grateful but he wants him to back off. Jeremy calls that Stephanie’s call. Alex reminds him that they are married now. Jeremy asks if he thinks he can police who she sees and is friends with, arguing that’s not how marriage works. Alex warns Jeremy that he’s made his wishes clear. Jeremy says he did too and that all he ever cared about was for Stephanie to be safe and happy. Jeremy declares that if Stephanie needs him, he will be there as he then exits the police station.

Update written by Joseph

Johnny and Chanel bring Trey home and get him to sleep. They talk about their big day which Johnny says was more stressful than they expected while Chanel notes it at least had a happy ending. Chanel mentions that it’s too bad they had to cancel the adoption party. Johnny doesn’t think his family would’ve been in the mood for a party anyway with Rachel going back to Bayview. Chanel calls that so sad. Johnny says he feels terrible for Brady, Kristen, and Tate. Johnny is grateful that Trey has no clue about everything that went sideways today and has no worry in the world.

Holly goes to the Brady Pub where Tate is working and asks him what’s wrong as he seems upset. Tate informs her that Rachel has to go back to Bayview.

Belle goes home and asks Marlena how she is. Marlena says she’s alright, but concerned about Rachel. Marlena acknowledges that it’s what is best but she still feels bad.

Brady brings Rachel back to Bayview. Brady knows she doesn’t want to be here. Rachel argues that it’s not a done deal as Kristen is talking to Dr. Gregory right now about getting her out. Brady tells her that this is a battle she can’t win while Rachel insists that she can. Brady reminds her that the judge said she needs to be at Bayview a little longer, so if she tries to leave, it would be breaking the law. Rachel feels that means she’s a prisoner then. Brady encourages that she’s not and she just needs to get better. Rachel shouts that it isn’t going to happen here, calling it a horrible place with bad smells and crazy people as she declares that she hates it here. Brady hugs her as she cries.

Melinda follows Sophia to the town square and says she knows it wasn’t the outcome she wanted but reminds her that they went over that it was unlikely they would win. Sophia argues that maybe they could have if she didn’t let EJ run them over and she barely even put a fight. Melinda argues that she tried but EJ had a stronger case. Melinda invites her to get food at Buddy’s Burgers. Sophia initially declines, but then says she will go but she’s not going back to Bayview.

Johnny brings Chanel dinner but Chanel says she doesn’t have much of an appetite as her stomach is in knots after everything that happened. Johnny reminds her that she’s eating for two as they kiss. Chanel says she knows she should let it go and be grateful that all of the day’s drama had a happy ending, but she still can’t believe they came that close to losing Trey again and the nerve of Sophia showing up like that. Johnny encourages that Trey is there with them and is officially their son forever, so there’s nothing Sophia or anyone can do to take him away from them.

Holly can’t believe Rachel has to go back to Bayview and asks if it’s because of what happened with the pills. Tate says he doesn’t know as he hasn’t talked to Brady yet but he’s guessing if Rachel is capable of giving Holly drugs, then Bayview is probably where she should be. Tate recalls telling her before the trial that everything was going to be okay, so he doesn’t want to be just another adult who lies to her. Holly encourages that Rachel looks up to him while Tate complains that she used him as a pawn in a plot to drug Holly. Tate admits he’s angry at Rachel. Holly says she is too but she’s just a little girl who had a really rough year. Tate says he just misses how it used to be and that he just wants his little sister back as Holly hugs him.

Belle assures Marlena that none of this is her fault and that Kristen is the reason they are all in this mess since if Kristen didn’t take Rachel out of Bayview, Marlena wouldn’t be in the position to put her back in. Belle complains that Kristen put them both in bad positions and now she’s afraid that her career is going to suffer for it.

Sophia repeats to Melinda that she’s not going back to Bayview and says that her mom only sent her there because she was basically a mute, but now she’s found her voice again and can’t stop the adoption, so there’s no purpose in her being there. Sophia points out that she’s not required to be in Bayview because she’s an adult. Melinda says she really thinks it’s what is best for her recovery but Sophia declares she will be the judge of what’s best for her now. Sophia talks about how all her life, other people decided her role for her so she’s done letting other people write her story for her. Sophia adds that if she doesn’t even get a say over what happens to her own son, then she at least gets a say over what happens to her life.

Rachel complains to Brady that she doesn’t get it as she’s done everything she is supposed to do and questions what she’s done wrong. Brady questions her not knowing and asks if she wants to tell him about the pills that she gave Holly. Rachel asks what about them. Brady responds that he knows she hasn’t been taking her meds. Rachel insists that she has. Brady tells her not to lie and questions how her pills got in to Holly’s skin supplements bottle. Rachel responds that she had nothing to do with that.

Holly encourages Tate that Rachel will get better being back at Bayview. Tate asks how Holly is doing. Holly says she’s fine and had a physical with Sarah, who said she can’t quit cold turkey off the meds but it will soon be out of her system. Tate notes not having to worry since he only took it once. Holly is relieved to know why she’s been acting so weird lately. Tate is glad it can be fixed by just stopping the meds. Holly says it’s too bad she can’t fix the damage done to her reputation or her friendship with Arianna.

Chanel tells Johnny that she never thought she’d say this, but she’s really grateful that EJ came in when he did as he really came through for them. Johnny calls it really big of her to thank him. Chanel repeats that she is grateful for everything EJ did for them today. Chanel adds that EJ’s road to redemption is a long one, but today he made some headway.

Marlena questions Belle saying her career is going to suffer and asks what the judge said to her after she left. Belle reveals that she threatened to charge her with prosecutorial misconduct for the actions she took to protect Rachel when she should’ve recused herself but she cared more about her family than her job which could cost her career. Belle adds that the judge barely let her get a word in at Johnny and Chanel’s adoption hearing. Marlena thought that was just a formality. Belle responds that it was until Sophia and Melinda decided to make a surprise appearance.

Melinda tells Sophia that she gets it and that it’s natural to want to take back control of her life. Sophia declares that she’s going to go somewhere where she can be herself. Melinda says she wants that for her too, but to get that life she needs help so she thinks checking herself out of Bayview today is a terrible idea.

Brady tells Rachel again not to lie to him. Rachel swears that she’s not lying, so Brady tells her to explain why she gave Tate a bottom of vitamins to give to Holly. Rachel claims she was just trying to do something nice. Brady tells her that it’s not okay to pass off her meds as vitamins which Rachel denies doing, saying she really thought they were vitamins. Brady asks if she just out of the blue thought it would be a fun idea to give Holly vitamins as a gift, calling it pretty strange. Rachel then reveals that Sophia asked her to do it and said she wanted to do something nice for Holly, so she was just trying to be a good friend.

Tate tells Holly that it’s not her fault that she was being drugged and people have to understand that. Holly doubts anyone will believe her and says she doesn’t want to get Rachel in any more trouble. Tate thanks her for being forgiving of Rachel. Holly says she cares about her and just wants her to get better. Tate is still sorry that Rachel put her through that and doesn’t understand why she would do something like this. Holly admits she’s been wondering that herself.

Brady questions Rachel about Sophia asking her to give those pills to Holly. Rachel confirms that Sophia was excited about wanting to do something nice for her. Brady asks her to start from the beginning. Rachel explains that Sophia mailed the vitamins to her when she got out of Bayview and said not to say they were from her because she didn’t want any thanks for it. Rachel adds that Sophia kept bugging her about it. Brady questions how she could if Rachel was already home. Rachel admits that Sophia called her, so Brady questions how she had a phone. Rachel then breaks down and apologizes as she admits she stole money out of Brady’s wallet so that Sophia could sneak out and buy a phone. Rachel swears that she has been taking her meds. Brady tells her that he believes her, but thinks the pills Holly has been taking are Sophia’s. Rachel calls that gross and messed up, asking why she would want Holly taking her pills. Brady tells Rachel that it’s very common knowledge that Sophia doesn’t like Holly and that medication made Holly not act like herself and Sophia knew that would happen. Rachel thought the medication makes you feel better. Brady explains that’s only for people who need it. Rachel asks if Holly is okay. Brady says she is now. Brady tells Rachel that she needs to go have her meal which upsets her. Brady says he will miss her and promises to make sure she won’t be there long as they will get through it together. Brady tells Rachel that he loves her and hugs her.

Johnny tells Chanel that hearing her say that about his dad is a huge relief. Johnny assures that he has no desire to be close with EJ ever again, but he has been thinking and after today, he feels it would be nice to have some kind of relationship with him. Chanel guesses that would be easier for him than shutting him out completely. Johnny admits it would but assures that Chanel is more important to him than anyone, so he needs to know that she’s okay with it if he does this.

Marlena jokes with Belle about EJ swooping in to save the day. Belle calls it a good thing. Marlena then gets a call from Brady and asks how Rachel is. Brady says she’s okay but she’s not going to believe this. Brady then reveals that Rachel wasn’t the one who gave Holly the meds as she didn’t know the pills had been switched by Sophia.

Melinda tells Sophia that she knows what happened in court was very disappointing, but questions now being the right time to make such a big decision. Sophia thinks now is exactly the right time. Melinda disagrees and says they both know her not being able to talk was the tip of the iceberg. Melinda advises Sophia to drop the ruse and let the Bayview doctors help her. Sophia tells Melinda to go spend a few months in Bayview and then report back. Melinda argues that if she doesn’t go back, she’ll have to go home. Melinda advises her to finish her treatment at Bayview and then take time to figure out what’s next. Melinda praises Sophia has a smart, capable woman with a bright future ahead of her and tells her not to run from herself.

Chanel tells Johnny that she’d never want to make him feel guilty for having a relationship with his father with clear boundaries. Chanel guesses if having EJ on the periphery of their lives prevents him from trying to be in the center of it, then she’s on board. Johnny wants them to figure out those boundaries together which Chanel agrees to. Chanel really appreciates him being so mindful of how this potential relationship could affect them and their family. Johnny credits her and appreciates her for being so understanding. Chanel says she might be understanding, but she’s not sure Paulina will be, though that’s a conversation for another day.

Holly asks if Tate wants to talk about something more cheerful and asks about the party for Trey. Tate informs her that the party didn’t end up happening as Johnny and Chanel were emotionally drained. Holly thought they’d be really happy about it. Tate confirms that they were but reveals that Sophia tried to sabotage the adoption again which shocks Holly. Tate explains that Melinda brought Sophia to court to try to stop the adoption. Holly questions how. Tate reveals that Sophia is apparently speaking again which Holly can’t believe. Tate says he’s glad that her messed up mission wasn’t successful, but Johnny and Chanel were really shaken up by it. Holly admits that she thought Sophia was trying to put her grudges behind her and says her apology seemed pretty sincere. Holly then brings up how all of this started when her skin supplements fell out at Bayview, but realizes that she dropped them in Sophia’s room.

Marlena informs Belle that Holly’s pills were apparently switched by Sophia. Brady comes in and says he wanted to talk this through with Marlena. Belle thinks they should be grateful that the judge didn’t know and it would affect the hearing. Brady argues that it did since Marlena testified partly because of this whole pill fiasco. Brady calls it all a misunderstanding and asks Belle if they can undo this now and get Rachel home.

Johnny and Chanel talk about being tired. Chanel admits that she loves that they get to spend their evenings together now that Trey is sleeping through most of it. Someone then knocks at the door, so Johnny says he will see who it is.

Belle tells Brady that she wishes it was that simple but the judge’s verdict is final, adding that she didn’t even know about the pill swapping and still sent Rachel back to Bayview. Brady asks if she’s saying there’s no way they can fix this. Belle responds that from a legal standpoint, it would be very difficult to undo what’s been done. Marlena adds that she doesn’t think they should.

Holly assures Tate that she dropped her skin supplements in Sophia’s room. Tate talks about Rachel befriending Sophia in Bayview. Holly doubts Sophia has anything nice to say about her. Tate asks if she still thinks Rachel did this. Holly suggests it was because Sophia made her out to be a raving bitch or maybe they did it together. Tate says those are all possibilities. Holly says the more she thinks about it, she senses Sophia must have been involved since she asked her to come to Bayview and she is the one who knocked over her purse, making it look like an accident but she doesn’t think it was an accident. Sophia then enters the Pub and greets them.

Brady questions Marlena since he thought she testified the way she did because she believed Rachel was involved in the pill swap. Marlena responds that it was part of the reason, but even if she didn’t, she still would’ve testified the same way because she thinks Rachel can benefit from more time and treatment at Bayview. Marlena calls Rachel bright and brave but says she is hurting. Brady reluctantly agrees and says it’s just hard and painful as a father because he knows she needs the therapy. Marlena encourages that Rachel will get through this and they will all help her. Brady says he knows and as angry as he is with Sophia for using his daughter, he understands she is also broken and troubled, so he prays she gets the help she needs.

Johnny answers the door to see Melinda, who apologizes for showing up unannounced and says she just wanted to apologize for what happened in court as she wanted nothing to do with it as Sophia was calling the shots. Johnny questions if she doesn’t get to pick her clients. Trey wakes up crying. Chanel asks Melinda if that’s it and she just came to say she’s sorry for being Sophia’s lawyer. Melinda responds that she came to warn them that Sophia signed herself out of Bayview which they question. Melinda explains that she wasn’t committed by the court but by her mother and now that she’s of age and can communicate, she can’t be forced to stay there. Johnny argues that there’s nothing she can do about Trey. Melinda confirms that she can’t take Trey from them while Chanel says she doesn’t like this and admits it scares the hell out of her.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Johnny and Chanel talk at home about it being Trey’s formal adoption day. Johnny recalls when he backed out of the initial adoption when he thought he wasn’t ready to be a father and how bad he felt for hurting Chanel. Chanel says that’s all in the past and understands he was going through a tough time, while now they have a wonderful son and a baby on the way. Chanel calls Johnny an amazing dad. They agree that they can’t imagine life without Trey anymore.

Paulina goes to the Brady Pub with a cake from the bakery for Johnny and Chanel’s party. EJ sits at a table nearby and watches as Roman comes over to greet Paulina. Paulina and Roman joke about spoiling Trey. Paulina talks about Trey trying to talk already which EJ overhears. Paulina comments on what a wonderful celebration it will be while Roman mentions that it means so much to Johnny and Chanel as EJ watches on with a look of sadness.

The judge announces she is ready to rule that Kristen’s conviction for attempted murder is vacated and that she is sentenced to time served for perjury while the entire record of this hearing will be served. She agrees that there should be no criminal charges in the accidental shooting of EJ, based on what she’s read in Rachel’s records and Marlena’s testimony, she finds that Rachel is in need of continued in-patient care and treatment. The judge orders Rachel back to Bayview under court supervision. Kristen argues that she can’t do this and pleads with the judge. She warns Kristen to control herself or be in contempt of court as the judge exits. Kristen turns to Marlena and tells her that this is on her and she will pay.

Chanel and Johnny talk about whether they will have a boy or girl. Johnny still can’t believe he was ever ambivalent towards starting a family. Chanel tells him to stop beating himself up and feels she should’ve been more understanding. Chanel calls him an amazing husband who has given her an amazing family. Johnny agrees that everything worked out how it was meant to.

EJ approaches Roman and Paulina, saying he couldn’t help but overhear that Johnny and Chanel are officially adopting Trey today. Paulina confirms they are having a little celebration here. EJ guesses his invitation got lost in the mail. Paulina sends Roman to take the cake to the fridge. Paulina then questions EJ about his experiment. EJ responds that everything is moving along quite nicely.

Marlena says she knows Kristen is upset but all she did was tell the truth that Rachel needs more help than Kristen and Brady can give her. Kristen questions who gave her that right and asks if she thinks she knows her daughter better than her. Brady tells Kristen to stop making it worse. Kristen asks how it can get any worse when they are losing their daughter. Melinda suggests they take this anywhere else because the judge will not take kindly to her making a scene. Kristen decides she can’t decide to be in the room with Marlena anymore and storms out, so Melinda follows. Marlena tells Brady that she’s sorry but she had to tell the truth. Brady remarks that he really wishes she hadn’t and storms out as well. Marlena tells Belle that she didn’t expect Brady to be so upset and asks if he expected her to lie. Belle argues that Brady is just upset and he knows this isn’t her fault, but Kristen’s fault, since if she left Rachel in Bayview, none of this would be happening. The judge returns and thanks Marlena for her testimony. Marlena then exits as the judge asks for a word with Belle. She then questions why the hell Belle didn’t recuse herself from this case and asks if she hoped to get away with playing fast and loose with the law. Outside the court room, Marlena holds back tears. Belle assures the judge that she was conflicted about taking the case. The judge questions her holding back all the necessary facts and if she didn’t think it was important to tell her that Kristen was lying about shooting EJ. Belle argues that she was protecting a minor. The judge asks what would’ve happened if Rachel didn’t decide to confess and if she would’ve ever been held accountable. Belle insists that it was always Rachel’s intent to come forward when she remembered what she did which the judge notes Belle failed to mention when she filed to vacate Kristen’s conviction. She questions if no one else was capable of working this case. Belle argues that at the time, everyone thought Kristen was telling the truth. The judge asks what about when she discovered Kristen was innocent or after Rachel put Sarah in the hospital. She questions if any of this would’ve ever came out if she didn’t call for Rachel’s records. Belle didn’t think it was relevant to the shooting case while the judge angrily states that it wasn’t her call to make. Belle says she understands and apologizes for disappointing her which the judge calls too little, too late. She warns that she is strongly considering charging Belle with misconduct. She says they have a break between cases and hopes Belle thinks long and hard about her actions, leaving Belle in shock as Johnny and Chanel arrive with Trey. Johnny says it’s good that Belle is already there. Chanel says they are so excited for the big day, but then asks Belle what’s wrong. Belle responds that she let her emotions cloud her judgment and now she’s paying the price.

Paulina tells EJ that he may have created a miracle for Lexie, but he’s made Hell on earth for her. EJ says they all make sacrifices while Paulina argues that EJ only cares about the almighty dollar. Paulina declares that EJ stands to make millions while she could lose everything. Roman comes back and asks what he missed. Paulina claims that EJ was just asking about his invite to Trey’s party and she told him that it wasn’t their call as Johnny and Chanel would have to want him there, but clearly they don’t. EJ asks her to pass along his congratulations as they’ve earned the right to celebrate the moment. EJ then exits the Pub. Roman comments that maybe he’s getting a little soft because he knows better than anyone what a monster EJ is, but seeing him cut off from his own grandson does make him feel a little sorry for him. Paulina tells Roman that he’s on his own there because she feels EJ is finally reaping what he’s sowed. EJ takes one last look back through the window and then sadly walks away from the Pub.

Belle assures Johnny and Chanel that this had nothing to do with the adoption as she was in front of the judge for another case which Chanel calls a relief. Belle adds that their hearing is just a formality as the judge will ask if they want to be Trey’s parents and they just have to say yes. Belle says there’s nothing she has to do but celebrate with them when everything is official.

Brady, Marlena, and Kristen walk through the town square. Brady apologizes to Marlena for being hard on her earlier as he knows she was under oath and had to tell the truth. Kristen argues that she doesn’t understand as Marlena knew what the consequences would be. Kristen complains that Marlena wanted Rachel sent back to Bayview. Marlena argues that she wants Rachel to get the help she needs. Kristen questions that being away from her family in a place that she hates. Kristen remarks that the only friend that Rachel made in Bayview was a wacked out teenager who can’t even speak. Kristen argues that Marlena would never sentence Rachel to that if she truly loved her. Marlena insists that she loves her with all of her heart and if anyone it’s sentencing her to a nightmare, it’s Kristen. Marlena accuses Kristen of teaching Rachel to lie and not trust people which she says isn’t love, but emotional abuse. Kristen tells Marlena that she has no idea about her relationship with her daughter. Kristen says she’s trying to be Rachel’s light in the world and calls Marlena cruel and heartless. Kristen declares that it will be a cold day before Marlena ever gets to see Rachel again.

Johnny and Chanel tell the judge that they confirm their wishes to formally adopt John Paul “Trey” DiMera. Melinda bursts in to interrupt and announces that the adoption cannot be finalized until the court hears from one last person as she then brings Sophia in to the room, shocking Johnny, Chanel, and Belle.

Marlena tells Kristen that she will not tolerate her talking to her like that. Kristen says she had it coming while Marlena tells Brady she’ll talk to him later and storms off. Brady tells Kristen that lashing out at Marlena won’t help anyone while Kristen mocks that Marlena got her feelings hurt. Kristen says that nothing justifies what Marlena did on the stand and that she hurt their daughter. Brady stops her and says they have something very important to do as they have to tell Rachel that she has to go back to Bayview. Kristen guesses they can just tell her the truth that Marlena betrayed her and now Rachel is going to be separated from them all. Kristen asks how this happened and how she’s going to get through this.

The judge questions Melinda to the meaning of this. Melinda reveals that Sophia is here to be part of the adoption hearing. Belle objects that Melinda did not file any motion which Melinda calls a clerical error. The judge remarks that Belle is in no position to throw stones and allows Sophia to join the hearing. Belle argues that Sophia hasn’t spoken in months and is unable to but Sophia suddenly states her name and introduces herself as the biological mother of the baby currently known as John Paul DiMera. Chanel argues that is his name. Belle points out that Sophia terminated her parental rights. Chanel questions Sophia being able to speak or if that was another lie. The judge warns Belle and Chanel to be quiet or they will be removed from the hearing. Melinda says she takes no pleasure in this but she is Sophia’s legal representation which means her duty is to make sure her piece is heard. Belle tries to object but the judge overrules her. EJ then arrives and announces he’s there to represent Johnny and Chanel.

Brady and Kristen go home as Kristen questions how ripping Rachel away from everyone she loves is going to make her better. Kristen argues that she should’ve trusted her gut instead of allowing Rachel to come forward. Kristen says she would’ve stayed in prison forever if it meant protecting Rachel. Brady says Rachel would never be able to live with herself if she knew Kristen went to prison for something she didn’t do but he knows Rachel is grateful she was willing to make the sacrifice. Kristen argues that it’s more than Marlena did and that Rachel will never forgive Marlena for what she did. Brady warns that Rachel is never going to know because they are not going to tell her about Marlena’s testimony. Brady argues that Marlena never would’ve been put in that position if Kristen didn’t take Rachel out of Bayview. Brady states that the fact is Rachel needs help. Kristen argues that she was getting the help as an outpatient. Kristen insists that Brady has seen it and admitted it. Brady tells Kristen that there’s something he needs to tell her that he didn’t get a chance to tell her before the hearing.

The judge tells EJ that this is very disruptive and points out that Belle is representing Johnny and Chanel. EJ responds that with their permission, he would like to replace her. The judge asks if that’s what they want. Johnny asks for a moment and then announces they would like to retain EJ as their attorney. The judge then gives Sophia the floor and asks what she has to say about the DiMeras and the adoption of her child.

Brady tells Kristen about Rachel swapping her pills with Holly’s. Kristen questions it and says she would never do that. Brady explains that Sophia was manipulating Rachel and telling her it was to help Holly and it was only when Tate decided to take one of Holly’s supplements that they realized it. Brady says they are lucky that Tate and Holly are okay. Kristen agrees but says this proves her point that none of this would’ve happened if Rachel wasn’t at Bayview to cross paths with malicious lunatics like Sophia. Brady tells her they have to stop being in denial about what’s going on with Rachel and that she needs serious help. Kristen repeats she’s not going to get it at Bayview. Kristen then announces she and Rachel are leaving Salem and she’s going to start packing right now but Brady stops her and says she’s not going anywhere.

Marlena goes to the Brady Pub where Paulina greets her and notes that she’s early so she suggests they sit down and catch up. Marlena declines and says she just came by to drop off a gift. Paulina asks her if everything is okay. Marlena admits that it’s not.

Kristen tells Brady to get out of her way. Brady refuses to let her run away with Rachel, reminding her that they have split custody. Brady warns that if Kristen even looks at Rachel’s passport, he will have her sent back to prison for child abduction. Brady tells Kristen that he doesn’t want to do this with her and he knows her heart is breaking as his is too because the last thing he wants to do is tell Rachel that she has to go back to Bayview, but they have to and they have to be strong as her parents which is all that matters right now. Kristen cries that Rachel is her heart and soul and she can’t lose her again as she hugs Brady.

Sophia talks about the stress level of knowing her mom wouldn’t let her give her baby up for adoption which is why she was so relieved when she approved of Johnny and Chanel, then got so scared when they backed out at the last minute. Sophia states that when she turned 18, she started to make arrangements on her own but she ended up giving birth before she was ready so she had to leave him at the fire station. Sophia cries that she already felt her whole world was crashing in on her but she already loved her baby boy so much and she knew that’s what was best for him. Sophia says that after Johnny changed his mind about being a father and backed out of the adoption at the last minute, she doesn’t think he and Chanel are fit to raise her baby. Sophia asks what happens to her son when Johnny changes his mind again. EJ asks to address Sophia’s statements which the judge allows. EJ argues that Sophia’s testimony was woefully incomplete. EJ says Sophia’s reasons for leaving the baby at the fire house may be true but doesn’t explain why she lied about who the biological father was. Melinda argues that she didn’t lie as she was not aware until much later. The judge warns Melinda that she will have her chance to refute EJ’s claims when he’s finished. EJ continues that Sophia also neglected to admit pretending to still be pregnant for weeks after abandoning the baby and that she made baseless accusations about Johnny and one of his students to social services and his employers which were proven untrue. EJ adds that Sophia is currently a patient at Bayview and has been claiming for 5 months that she was unable to speak until now which is awfully convenient. The judge notes that is the second time she’s heard that so she hopes they can back that up. EJ presents her with the papers and complete reports that will confirm all claims. EJ asks to question Sophia now. Melinda objects that Sophia is not a witness but the judge states that she volunteered which opened the door and tells EJ to proceed. EJ asks Sophia who she would like to raise her baby. Sophia responds anybody but them. EJ guesses that means she didn’t come to tell the court she changed her mind about raising her own baby and adds that the biological father Aaron Green willingly gave up his parental rights. EJ points out that Aaron also approved of Johnny and Chanel as the legally adoptive parents. Sophia questions why that matters. EJ argues that it’s because Sophia only came to complete the hitjob against Johnny and Chanel so they can’t raise a baby that she didn’t even want. Melinda objects and the judge tells EJ that is enough.

Paulina asks Marlena if it’s about the adoption hearing. Marlena says no as that’s going through but this was about Kristen’s hearing to overturn her guilty plea. Marlena informs Paulina that the judge vacated that ruling but Kristen and Brady got some pretty bad news about their daughter.

Rachel tells Kristen that she’s so happy that Kristen doesn’t have to go back to jail. Kristen says that’s all thanks to her. Rachel questions why she and Brady look so sad and what’s wrong. Kristen informs her that they have difficult news to share with her. Brady then tells Rachel that the judge found out that she left Bayview earlier than the doctors thought she should, so she thought it would be best if she finishes getting better there. Rachel questions what he means. Brady confirms that she has to go. Rachel starts to cry and pleads with Kristen not to make her go back, shouting that she said she wouldn’t have to go back. Rachel complains that she’s done everything she was told to do. Kristen says the judge thinks it’s best while Rachel continues to plead with her not to make her go back as she breaks down crying with Kristen.

The judge asks if Melinda cares to redirect. Melinda says that won’t be necessary and tells Sophia to trust her. The judge announces she is ready to rule then. She states that she has tremendous empathy for Sophia having an unplanned pregnancy but her records and reports make it clear that she never had any intention of raising the child nor has she suggested a change of heart, which means her preference is no longer a factor. The judge says the only questions is if Johnny and Chanel can provide a stable and loving home for the child which by all accounts, they can and have for months now. The judge then officially finalizes the adoption and announces them as the legal parents of John Paul “Trey” DiMera. Johnny hugs Chanel and declares that Trey is theirs forever. The judge congratulates them and steps out. Sophia is shocked and argues that it’s her baby so she gets a say in who his parents are. Sophia breaks down crying not to take the baby from her as Melinda takes her out of the room. Belle tells EJ well done. Belle tells Johnny and Chanel that she’s so happy for them. Chanel thanks her for all that she did as Belle then exits. Chanel then tells EJ that they are really grateful for everything. EJ tells Johnny there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for him and he hopes one day he will realize that. EJ then looks over Trey and welcomes him to the family.

Update written by Joseph

Shawn is in his hospital bed, finishing a call with his sister Ciara as Jada arrives with flowers from the police department. Jada jokes about how they miss him because they are tired of covering his paper work. Jada asks how he’s feeling since she last checked on him. Shawn talks about completing his first physical therapy session. Shawn assures that he’ll be out of the hospital and back home ahead of schedule. Jada says she would expect nothing less but reminds him not to overdo it. Jada then informs Shawn that Belle offered to move in to help take care of him.

JJ is working at the police station but has trouble focusing. Theo then arrives and says he came to check on him.

The judge announces that she is inclined to impose the maximum penalty available to her. Kristen can’t believe it while Rachel worries and Brady tries to calm her. Melinda argues that seven years is a long time while the judge feels it’s fair. Kristen complains that she doesn’t even know why they are here and calls it a waste of time. Kristen thought she could get a fair shake but shouts that if this is the way it’s going to go, she can just send her back to prison right this minute, shocking Rachel and Brady. The judge responds that if that appeals to her, she can make it happen. Kristen remarks that she might as well and tells her to go ahead and lock her up.

EJ tells Marlena that he and Sarah were just discussing hospital business. Marlena questions that having to do with labs and secret rooms. EJ questions why Marlena is in the town square instead of at the hearing. Marlena tells him that the judge only wanted to deal with directly involved parties so she’s just been wandering around, waiting to hear the result. Marlena asks if EJ is nervous about his testimony. EJ says he has no reason to be and that it breaks his heart to see Rachel carry such a tremendous burden. Marlena agrees and hopes Kristen doesn’t have to go back to prison and that Rachel can get the help she needs.

The judge asks Melinda if Kristen has decided to represent herself or if she’d like to remind her how to behave in a court room. Melinda requests a recess which the judge grants for 15 minutes. Melinda then orders Kristen not to speak until spoken to from now on. Kristen complains that Rachel only wanted to confess so that she wouldn’t go back to prison and if she’s going back anyway on perjury charges, then there’s no reason for Rachel to admit what she did. Kristen questions putting her through this. Rachel argues that she needs to do this and she wants to tell the judge everything about why Kristen lied and how she protected her. Rachel believes that once the judge hears the truth, there’s no way she will send Kristen back to prison.

Shawn is surprised to hear from Jada that Belle wants to move in with him and notes that she didn’t say a word to him about it. Jada explains that she ran in to her in the town square earlier and that Sarah mentioned Shawn would need some help when he’s discharged, so she offered to stay with him. Jada notes that he doesn’t seem too thrilled about it which Shawn confirms.

Theo tells JJ that he heard about what happened last night with Shawn and he knows it’s the first time JJ had to pull his gun in the line of duty since he’s been back on the force, so he knows it probably brought up some stuff for him. JJ responds that it brought up what a screw up he is. JJ complains that he needed to step up and he froze like a damn rookie. JJ remarks that Shawn could’ve died because he couldn’t bring himself to pull the trigger and now he can’t stop seeing the moment he failed miserably as it’s burned in to his brain.

Belle tells Rachel that she does think there’s a good chance the judge could drop all the charges once she hears the whole story, but she can’t make any promises. The judge then returns to ask if Melinda has made a decision. Rachel declares that she has something she has to say and promises to tell the truth. Rachel goes over Kristen saying she shot EJ and explains that Kristen said that because she didn’t want anything happening to her. Rachel declares she’s guilty and Kristen is the innocent one as she states that she shot her uncle. The judge questions everyone knowing about this. Belle confirms that she knew and has a written statement from Rachel with corroboration from EJ. The judge says they will at some point discuss Belle’s failure to disclose this information immediately. She then asks Rachel to tell her what happened the night of the shooting. Rachel swears it was an accident and that she did not mean to shoot her uncle as she just wanted him to tell her where her Grandma was. Rachel explains that she saw the gun there and thought if she pointed it at him, EJ would tell her where she was because she’s seen that happen in movies. Rachel cries that she missed her Grandma so much and that Kristen was so sad, so she just wanted to fix it. Rachel repeats that she’s sorry and she didn’t mean to shoot EJ.

Shawn tells Jada that he’s comfortable with Belle and they get along fine, but he’s not sure about being close like that again. Jada asks what the problem would be. Shawn feels it would be awkward if she’s helping him shower and change clothes as he thinks that part of their relationship needs to stay over. Shawn assures that he appreciates the gesture but he thinks he’s going to tell Belle no. Jada says she understands but he can’t do this alone and will need someone to help take care of him. Shawn insists he’ll manage just fine. Jada then suggests he could let her take care of him.

Theo asks what JJ is talking about. JJ responds that he had a clean shot at the son of a bitch who shot Liam and he should’ve taken it as he was in the right and had the go ahead, but he still couldn’t pull the trigger. JJ adds that after it was over, he kept telling himself there was nothing he could’ve done differently but Shawn remembered that he froze, so because of him, Shawn took a bullet. Theo tells JJ that he’s sorry. JJ says he’s the one that is sorry. JJ declares that Theo was right that he never should’ve put the badge back on.

Brady and Kristen encourage Rachel that they are proud of her. Rachel cries that she’s worried about Kristen. Kristen assures that she’ll be just fine and promises they will never be apart again. The judge asks Belle how long her office has known the truth about Rachel’s confession. Belle admits she’s had knowledge for some time but with Kristen missing, it wasn’t possible for her to act on it. Belle strongly recommends that no charges be filed against Rachel in this accidental shooting and adds that EJ is ready to testify in support of that decision. Belle brings up Brady having Rachel voluntarily committed to Bayview where she received intense therapy. Belle presents a sworn affidavit from Rachel’s therapist, who confirms she is making steady progress. The judge asks how they can be sure that Rachel won’t abandon her treatment. Melinda insists that Kristen is committed to Rachel remaining in treatment and assures she will do whatever it takes for Rachel’s mental wellness. Kristen brings up that Marlena will also be treating Rachel. Melinda states that Rachel has a strong and loving family to support her. The judge declares that she’s heard enough and would now like to hear from the victim which Belle says won’t be a problem.

EJ guesses Marlena is worried about something and that she knows something he doesn’t. Marlena responds that she’s just concerned about Rachel’s mental health and well being. EJ then gets a text from Belle that the judge is ready for him and tells Marlena that it’s the moment of truth as he then walks away.

Jada tells Shawn that she has a spare bedroom and no stairs so it would be easy for him to get around. Shawn reminds her that he’s familiar with her apartment and her bedroom, but he doesn’t want to be a burden and points out that she is his boss, but she’s also been more than that. Jada calls him her friend and asks if he thinks things will get too complicated or messy. Shawn assures that he’s very at ease with her, but he hates needing help. Jada repeats that he is her friend, so it would make her feel really good to help him and he’d be doing her a favor. Shawn then accepts her offer and thanks her.

Theo tells JJ that taking his time to pull the trigger is not a bad thing. JJ argues that in some situations, it absolutely is. JJ says when everything is coming at you fast, you have to act and there’s no time to overthink it or someone could be dead and last night that could’ve been Shawn. JJ adds that on top of that, the shooter is dead so now Shawn has to live with taking a life because he didn’t. Theo can’t imagine what it must be like to have to make that kind of life or death decision and mentions only ever being on the opposite end which JJ calls another time he screwed up. Theo feels JJ is being awfully hard on himself while JJ states that he let his partner down, who is his own cousin. JJ declares he’s made two near fatal mistakes, so he’s not going to make a third. JJ feels he won’t be allowed to because he knows Jada will ask for his badge after she talks to Shawn. Theo tells JJ that he’s sorry and that he’s a good person which is why it’s hitting him so hard. JJ thanks Theo for checking in. Theo says he’ll let him get back to work, but he’s there anytime he needs to talk. Theo then exits the station.

Brady tells Rachel that Tate is in the hallway and ready to take her home. Rachel hugs Brady and Kristen as EJ arrives. Rachel tells EJ that she’s really sorry. EJ responds that he’s sorry too as she exits. The judge resumes and asks EJ to describe what happened the night of the shooting. EJ recalls being alone at home when Rachel came downstairs from the bedroom and confronted him with a gun that had been left there. Belle points out that was the gun that EJ took from Johnny in the original trial. EJ continues that Rachel was upset and blamed him for her Grandmother’s disappearance. EJ says he made the mistake of not locking the gun away when Johnny left, so Rachel picked it up and when he reached for it, the gun accidentally went off. The judge argues that’s not what EJ said in his original testimony. EJ states that at the time, he hadn’t remembered what happened nor had Rachel and if she had, she wouldn’t have let her mother go to prison for the shooting. EJ declares that Rachel is his niece who he adores and calls her a bright and sensitive girl with far too much hardship in her young life. EJ assures that Rachel never meant to hurt him and once she remembered what she had done, she owned up to it immediately and did not intentionally lie to the court in the previous hearing. The judge thanks EJ and excuses him, so he exits. She says not to celebrate just yet as she wants to review Rachel’s full file from Bayview and that they will reconvene in 30 minutes.

Brady and Belle join Marlena in the town square. Marlena questions the recess. Belle explains that the judge just called for Rachel’s full psychiatric review from Bayview. Marlena says they will find that Rachel was discharged against medical advice. Belle worries that the judge won’t be happy that she kept that information from her. Brady argues that this doesn’t fall on her but on Kristen for going rogue and taking Rachel out of Bayview when they all knew that was a terrible idea. Belle then gets a text that the judge wants Marlena to testify because Kristen invoked her as part of Rachel’s ongoing treatment.

Kristen and Melinda go to the Brady Pub where Kristen asks if the review of Rachel’s Bayview records is going to be a problem. Melinda feels it will open her up to more scrutiny. Kristen talks about Rachel making improvements and tremendous strides which is what matters. Melinda then gets a text that Marlena has been asked to testify. Kristen is sure that the judge just wants confirmation that Marlena agreed to supervise over Rachel and feels it could actually help their case. Melinda asks if she’s sure about that since Kristen told her that Marlena was furious over her taking Rachel out of Bayview against medical advice. Kristen assures that Marlena won’t say anything that could send Rachel back to that horrible place. Melinda then exits the Pub.

Jada tells Shawn the house rules about the toilet seat, toothpaste, and dishwasher, joking that she has ways to enforce the rules as police commissioner. Shawn brings up that he might snore. JJ then arrives, so Jada says she’ll give them time alone but JJ says he came to see her. JJ informs Jada that rather than have her come find him, he thought he’d deliver his badge and gun to her as he’s surprised she hadn’t already demanded it. Jada asks what he’s talking about. JJ says he figured she’d want it after Shawn’s statement. Shawn tells JJ that he doesn’t have to do this while JJ says that he does. Jada says that’s enough and questions what the hell is going on.

Brady complains that they promised Rachel that everything would be okay and she wouldn’t be punished, but now he worries that he was wrong. Belle tries to tell him not to go there but Brady questions how he can’t and shouts about Rachel being sent back to Bayview. Brady decides he just needs to be alone. Marlena says she’ll see him at the courthouse.

JJ tells Jada that he’s made an unforgivable mistake again as it’s his fault that Shawn is in the hospital bed. JJ informs her that he had a shot at Klaus and he froze. Jada asks Shawn if this is true. Shawn says it all happened so fast and JJ hadn’t slept after working on Stephanie’s case. Jada guesses it is true. Shawn argues that if he hadn’t shown up and taken the shot at Klaus, then JJ would’ve been the one lying on the ground. JJ argues that it should’ve been him. JJ declares that he knows Shawn won’t feel safe with him as his partner and he can’t keep the citizens of Salem safe either. JJ announces that he’s done and is turning in his badge, telling Jada not to fight him on it this time.

Theo comes out from the Brady Pub and runs in to EJ. EJ asks how he’s feeling. Theo says he’s getting stronger and ready to return to work. EJ asks about the transition with Johnny. Theo says they haven’t really started but it’s going smoothly. Theo admits it will be a big loss not having Johnny around at DiMera. EJ praises Johnny having a knack for leadership and jokes that it runs in the family. Theo mentions telling Johnny that he’d love to have him stay on in senior management, but he turned him down and said he wasn’t interested.

Brady, Belle, Melinda, and Kristen return to the courthouse with Marlena. The judge asks Marlena if she was aware of Rachel being discharged from Bayview against medical orders which Marlena confirms she was. The judge then brings up learning that Rachel gave Sarah a known allergen that led to her almost dying. She says that Kristen earlier led them to believe that Marlena was willing to supervise Rachel’s outpatient care and calls her an excellent witness. Marlena responds that she is Rachel’s Grandmother but she’s never treated her professionally and doesn’t know if it would be appropriate to treat her. Melinda wants that on record that Marlena’s relationship with Rachel is strictly personal. The judge asks Marlena if she believes Rachel would not be a danger being back in school with other kids or if she belongs back in Bayview under psychiatric care. Belle argues that Rachel is not Marlena’s patient, so her professional opinion is irrelevant. The judge rephrases by asking Marlena if she agreed with the decision to remove Rachel from Bayview against medical advice. Marlena admits that she did not. The judge asks if she’s had reason to change her mind since then. Marlena states that she was pleasantly surprised to see how well Rachel had done after her first time at Bayview. Marlena then flashes back to when Rachel pinched her on St. Patrick’s Day and then learning from Brady about Holly’s supplements being switched. Marlena then declares that as much as it pains her to say this, she thinks Rachel still needs to be at Bayview.

Jada tells JJ that he just did a very brave thing. JJ complains that he was a coward when it mattered and walks out. Shawn calls out to him but Jada says to let him go because he needs space. Jada then warns Shawn that she should suspend him for filing a statement that wasn’t accurate. Shawn argues that everything he wrote was true while Jada argues that it wasn’t the whole truth as he left out knowingly keeping a broken cop on the street and that could have cost someone else their life.

EJ tells Theo that it was worth a try urging Johnny to stay at DiMera but he’s always been determined to carve his own path. EJ asks Theo to come by the house tomorrow as he has something to show him that he believes will mean a great deal to him. Theo says he will see him there and walks away. EJ pulls out his phone and makes a call, saying Lexie is going to have a very special visitor tomorrow and he suspects it will mean the world to her.

The judge orders Rachel back to Bayview under court supervision, leaving Kristen glaring at Marlena.
