Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph
Kristen goes to visit Rachel at Bayview. Rachel hides her face behind a book and ignores her. Kristen tries talking to her and tells her that she loves her, but Rachel then responds that she hates her.
Tate and Brady have breakfast at the Brady Pub. Tate asks about Rachel’s first night back at Bayview. Brady says it wasn’t great as Dr. Gregory said she was having nightmares and her spirits were low. They are both glad that Sophia isn’t there with her anymore. Tate says there has to be some way to prove that Sophia is guilty of switching Holly’s meds with anti-psychotics. Brady says if they can get Sophia’s fingerprints off the bottle, he can have a little evidence to maybe take her down, but he’s going to need Tate’s help to do that. Tate says to count him in.
Sophia runs in to Marlena in the town square. Marlena asks if she has a minute because she’d like to talk to her.
Arianna (now played by Vico Escorcia) returns to her dorm room to find Holly waiting inside and questions what she wants.
Steve walks through the town square and gets a call from Alex. Steve asks how Stephanie is. Steve is shocked by his response and says he’ll be right there as he hurries off.
Stephanie wakes up and looks for Alex, then realizes he’s at work. Stephanie accidentally knocks things over, startling herself and triggering flashbacks to when she was abducted by Owen. She rushes to ensure the door is locked as she tries not to panic.
Arianna questions how Holly got in. Holly says she still had her key and apologizes for not texting her. Holly compliments Arianna changing her hair and says she’s like a new Arianna. Arianna remarks that she’d like her to be the old Holly that wasn’t a bitch to her. Holly apologizes and says the Holly that was a bitch to her wasn’t her.
Sophia tells Marlena that she’s sorry but she has to be anywhere but here. Marlena stops her and says she knows she’s angry because she’s put herself in her position and she’s been through a terrible ordeal, so she worries about her. Sophia doesn’t believe her and argues that Marlena only worries that she’s the only one who isn’t afraid to say her loser grandson is fit to raise her baby. Sophia tells her to stop wasting her time. Marlena stops her again and says that’s not true as she wants to help her.
Kristen says she knows Rachel is upset. Rachel argues that she’s more than upset, she’s really mad because she promised she wouldn’t have to come back to Bayview and now she’s stuck with these freaks and away from her family. Rachel cries that she hates it here.
Tate doesn’t want to think about what might have happened if Holly kept taking those pills. Tate says it’s like Bayview made Sophia so much angrier and now that she’s out, he worries about her doing something worse and he can’t let that happen. Tate tells Brady that he’s in for whatever he can do to help. Brady thanks him as he’s grateful he’s willing to help. Brady says the first thing is simple but it won’t be fun as he’s going to ask him to hang out with Sophia. Brady says it doesn’t have to be long, but to bring a bottle of water or can of soda to drink. Brady instructs Tate to first spray the bottle with an alcohol/water mix and wipe it down to get Sophia’s hand print in the middle. Brady adds that after she drinks it, he has to find a way to get it in the evidence bag without her noticing. Tate agrees to handle it and questions when Brady went full on private investigator. Brady reveals he had a chat with Steve, who offered him a job at Black Patch. Tate excitedly says that’s so cool and asks if Brady is going to accept his offer.
Steve goes to see Stephanie and asks if she’s okay. Stephanie claims she is and asks what brings him by. Steve offers to help her take the extra dead bolts off the door but Stephanie says no. Steve says he can see that she’s not ready which Stephanie admits.
Brady tells Tate that it would be great to work with Steve. Tate questions what the problem is then. Brady says Rachel needs him right now and he’d like to spend more time with Tate. Tate says it’s okay as they both have a lot on their plate and he knows he’s there for him. Tate questions if that’s really the reason. Brady admits it’s the fact that John was the private investigator and he thinks following in his footsteps is crazy. Tate encourages that Steve wouldn’t have offered him the job if he didn’t think he was up for it. Brady says the question is whether he thinks he’s up for it. Tate knows walking away from Basic Black was tough, but points out how the company got started as a cover for John’s work with the ISA. Tate says the company was a huge success but it wasn’t really John’s calling. Tate suggests Brady left Basic Black because he’s like John and maybe his calling is the same. Tate thinks Brady should do it as he’ll never know if he doesn’t try. Brady asks when he got so wise. Tate thinks that he may be going through the same thing.
Steve informs Stephanie that Alex called him this morning and told him that she wants to get a gun. Stephanie confirms that she does, but wishes he waited for her to tell him. Steve says they are worried about her. Stephanie argues that they won’t have to worry once she gets a gun and doesn’t feel like a helpless victim anymore. Stephanie adds that she was going to call Steve herself to ask him to teach her how to use the gun. Steve says he can take her to the shooting range but changing how she feels is going to take more work than just learning how to use a gun.
Brady questions Tate saying he’s going through the same thing as him. Tate explains that he’s wondering what he wants and doesn’t want. Brady says that’s what college is for. Tate asks what if what he doesn’t want is college which Brady questions. Tate then reveals that he almost flunked out last semester which shocks Brady. Brady asks why he didn’t tell him about this. Tate says there was a lot going on with Rachel at Bayview and he didn’t want to be a burden. Brady argues that as his dad, he needs to know when he’s struggling with things. Tate says it’s okay now as he took more classes to improve his GPA but he doesn’t know if he wants to go back to Salem U in the fall. Tate adds that he understands if he’s disappointed in him. Brady says he’s not and at the end of the day, he just wants him to feel productive and he’s aware that college is not the only path. Tate asks if he’s saying he would be okay with him dropping out. Brady responds that he would support his decision, but he wants him to give it some deep thought and really think about what he wants for his future. Brady asks him to please come talk to him in the future about these kinds of thing. Tate agrees to do that and thanks him, saying he really appreciates him understanding but he’s not sure that Holly will.
Arianna questions if they’re doing this again where Holly acts nice until something triggers her and she plays a diva, makes a scene, and she feels awful until she comes back with a half-assed apology. Holly insists things will be different this time. Arianna questions what her excuse will be. Holly then informs Arianna that she was being drugged by Sophia.
Sophia mocks Marlena as sounding like an ambulance chaser lawyer ad. Marlena asks if it’s so hard to believe that somebody might want to help her. Sophia says it is, especially when she knows Marlena hates her and is setting her up because she wants to make her go back to Bayview. Sophia declares she is never going back there. Marlena argues that she doesn’t want to make her do anything. Sophia tells Marlena to drop the act and tell her what she really wants.
Kristen promises Rachel that they will get her out soon. Rachel wants to know when soon is. Kristen admits she doesn’t know but that she doesn’t belong here. Rachel complains that it doesn’t matter because Kristen doesn’t make the rules, the mean judge does. Kristen remarks that she never thought in a million years that Marlena would, which Rachel questions.
Brady asks Tate why Holly wouldn’t understand. Tate says that Holly has always loved school and loves the college scene, so it feels like they would be living two different lives. Brady feels if they love each other, that’s all that matters. Tate hopes so and agrees that he has a lot of thinking to do. Brady tells Tate that Kristen is moving out which he calls a relief but says he wants to focus on him and advises Tate to talk to Holly. Brady says he has to get to Bayview to see Rachel and asks Tate if he’s sure he’s okay with their plan. Tate responds that he would do anything for Holly and Rachel as Brady then exits. Tate pulls out his phone.
Holly explains to Arianna that she was taking Sophia’s anti-psychotics which is why she was so mean and nasty with a horrible temper. Arianna asks how she figured it out. Holly says that Tate took one of the pills and started acting the same way. Arianna realizes that means Sophia hasn’t been taking them and that’s why she hasn’t been getting better. They conclude that now that Sophia is out of Bayview, she’ll never start taking her meds. Arianna acknowledges that it must have been scary for her. Holly says she’s okay now. Arianna asks if there’s anything she can do and offers to talk to Maisy about it not being her fault. Holly isn’t sure she wants to hang out with girls who publicly shamed her. Arianna says she’s sorry about that and feels bad for how she was towards her, knowing now that she was being drugged. Arianna invites Holly to move back in. Holly says she would love to but it’s almost the end of the semester so she doesn’t see the point. Arianna calls it an open invitation so she thanks her as they hug. Holly then finds a guy’s friendship bracelet and questions who has been leaving their stuff on her dresser.
Steve suggests to Stephanie that going to therapy might help her deal with what happened and the aftermath. Stephanie responds that she doesn’t want to do that and she wants to go to the shooting range with him. Stephanie says she’s not ready to go to therapy yet. Steve questions her being ready to handle a deadly weapon, but not sitting on the couch to talk about her feelings. Stephanie clarifies that she doesn’t want to go back to the hospital which Steve understands. Steve suggests asking Marlena to come to her instead.
Marlena tells Sophia that all she wants is for her to take care of herself and she thinks she would benefit from outpatient therapy. Marlena offers to recommend a therapist but Sophia declines and says she’s not crazy. Marlena calls her a bright, sensitive girl who went through a terrible ordeal and is trying to process it. Sophia then gets a call and steps away to answer it from Tate. Tate asks if they can meet in the town square to talk.
Rachel asks Kristen what she never thought Marlena could do. Kristen responds that she thought Marlena could convince the judge that she belongs at home, but family can let you down sometimes. Rachel argues that it’s not Marlena’s fault and that at least she tried. Kristen responds that she tried too. Rachel acknowledges that it wasn’t her fault either. Kristen says she’s still sorry. Rachel tells her that she doesn’t hate her, she loves her and apologizes for being mad at her because she’s scared, lonely and sad as they hug. Kristen wishes she could make those feelings go away. Rachel compares it to the book she’s reading. Kristen asks if something else has her down. Rachel tells her that she thought Sophia was her friend, but she was just using her the entire time. Kristen says she learned an important lesson. Rachel complains that she never should’ve helped her and should’ve known better. Kristen argues that if anyone should be at Bayview, it should be Sophia. Rachel questions why Sophia is getting off free while she’s stuck here with no friends. Kristen encourages Rachel to focus on getting out and doing what the doctor says and wants. Brady appears in the doorway as Kristen tells Rachel to do whatever it takes to get out of here. Brady then enters so Rachel excitedly runs up to hug him.
Arianna tells Holly that she just let a friend stay on the spare bed and assures that nothing happened. Holly asks if she wishes something happened. Arianna says she doesn’t know and maybe as he is older and not the college type, but there’s something about him. Holly thinks he left his bracelet on purpose as an excuse to come back. Holly says she has to get going but thanks Arianna for hearing her out. Arianna says it’s all in the past and she missed her. They say they love each other as they hug. Arianna warns Holly to be careful and to watch her back as long as Sophia is still out there.
Tate meets Sophia in the town square. Sophia says she’s so glad he called. Tate brings her a juice bottle as a peace offering. Sophia asks why he wanted to meet. Tate says he’s just been thinking about her and all the stuff they both did. Tate tells her that it has to stop with no more hurting Holly or involving Rachel. Sophia questions Rachel being innocent while Tate argues that she’s just a little girl. Tate warns Sophia that she has to stop or she’ll end up locked up for good. Sophia remarks that for a college guy, he’s starting to sound like his Grandma. Tate questions what she’s talking about. Sophia tells him that Marlena was just trying that whole sanctimonious act on her.
Marlena joins Steve and Stephanie at Stephanie’s apartment. Steve thanks Marlena for making the time. Marlena says she’s glad to do it. Steve tells Stephanie that he loves her and will call her later as he exits. Marlena sits down and asks Stephanie how she is. Stephanie responds that since she was kidnapped and held captive, she’s been feeling pretty out of control which Marlena notes is unlike her. Stephanie says she was the person people called in a crisis while now she can’t even handle an unlocked door. Stephanie talks about going over every wrong decision she ever made and says she can’t stop. Stephanie says she wakes up afraid and falls asleep afraid, complaining that she doesn’t recognize this version of her as if someone has taken over her mind. Stephanie adds that she can’t talk to Alex about it because the more she goes over it, the more she thinks that Alex married a woman who doesn’t exist anymore.
Tate questions Marlena talking to Sophia. Sophia says she was just giving her a phony caring about her speech when Tate called. Tate argues that Marlena wouldn’t lie about that and that they both care, but Sophia is hurting people and it has to stop. Sophia tells him to spare her because he only cares about looking like a big hero to Holly. Holly then walks up and asks what’s going on. Tate swears they were just talking. Sophia tells Holly not to have a meltdown as she’s leaving, but Tate stops her.
Brady asks Rachel to go to the vending machine. Rachel asks if he’s trying to get rid of her. Brady denies that and says he came all this way to see her. Rachel says whatever and goes. Brady then questions Kristen about telling Rachel to do whatever she has to do to get out. Kristen calls it good advice while Brady argues that she needs to trust in the therapy and she can’t do that when her mom is telling her to con her therapist. Kristen tells him not to tell her what Rachel needs. Brady argues that Rachel needs Dr. Gregory’s help while Kristen argues that Rachel needs to be home. Kristen blames Brady for not persuading Marlena while Brady tells her not to blame Marlena for what she did by ignoring the doctor and Belle instead of putting their daughter’s needs first. Kristen insists that she always puts her first. Brady complains that he and Marlena feel this is where she gets help while Kristen argues that it’s where psychos like Sophia get their hands on her. Brady calls Kristen a master manipulator and then Rachel comes back, yelling for them to stop fighting.
Marlena understands Stephanie wondering what she did wrong makes her feel helpless. Stephanie responds that what she did wrong was play right in to Owen’s hands. Stephanie adds that she refused to believe Jeremy was innocent and treated him horribly. Marlena points out that she had a past with him which dictated how she saw him in the present. Stephanie brings up that when they were dating, she stayed with him and ran herself down on bad choices to the point where she couldn’t recognize her own stalker. Stephanie questions why it took her so long to learn and what is wrong with her. Marlena encourages that there’s nothing wrong with her and that she has such a good heart, she just made some bad choices but she learned from them and will make better choices in the future. Marlena points out Stephanie being in a relationship now and blames PTSD from a terrible thing happening to her. Marlena suggests Stephanie surround herself with people who she feels safe and loved with as there are lot of them here. Marlena says if she wants to talk more, she’s available to her 24/7 any time she needs. Stephanie says she would like that and thanks her.
Arianna excitedly texts Liam that he left his bracelet and asks if he wants to come get it, but is disappointed when he texts back that he doesn’t need it and she can trash it.
Tate asks Sophia to hear him out and asks Holly to give them a minute but Sophia says not to bother because she’s leaving, so she walks away and tosses the juice he gave her in the trash. Tate then puts on his gloves and retrieves the bottle from the trash. Holly asks what’s going on. Tate informs her that was a setup to get Sophia’s fingerprints and now they are going to get her.
Kristen claims to Rachel that they were fighting. Brady admits they were arguing but tells Rachel that it’s nothing for her to be concerned about. Brady says he has to go talk to Dr. Gregory and tells Rachel that when he gets back, it will just be the two of them as he then exits. Kristen tells Rachel that she will let her and Brady spend some time together but Rachel hugs her and begs her not to go and leave her there.
