Paulina went to see Chanel. Chanel told her mother about her pregnancy. Paulina wanted to know why she didn’t tell her that the doctor cleared her to get pregnant. Chanel told her that she wasn’t cleared to get pregnant. She let her mother know that Sarah said there was a chance that she could still have a healthy baby. Paulina wanted to know how Johnny felt about it. Chanel explained to Paulina that Johnny didn’t think it was a good idea for her to have the baby. She also said that he made her feel like she didn’t love Trey enough. Chanel refused to give up on the pregnancy if the specialists said that she could have the baby. She admitted to her mother that there were challenges to having a baby that’s not biologically related. Chanel told her about a woman who thought she was Trey’s nanny. It made her angry that Johnny acted like she was being irresponsible. Xander let Johnny know that he couldn’t keep working for Titan now that he’s working at DiMera Enterprises. Johnny said that he would only be at DiMera Enterprises until Theo was better. Xander was looking forward to him coming back to the company. Johnny went home and saw Paulina and Chanel talking. Paulina told Johnny that Chanel let her know about the pregnancy and how he felt about it. Chanel explained to Johnny why she told her mother about the pregnancy and he understood. Johnny understood why she talked to her mother. Chanel grabbed her stomach and told them something was wrong.

Maggie asked Brady and Sarah about their New Year’s Eve celebration. They thought about the kiss, but they didn’t say anything to Maggie about it. Bayview texted Brady about wanting him to meet with him about Rachel’s progress. He also had a shareholder meeting at Titan. Brady didn’t think Xander would like it if he weren’t there to handle matters concerning the company. Maggie felt like Xander would understand because he knew what he was dealing with. Brady wasn’t sure anymore since he was living with Sarah. Maggie knew things were rough with Xander, but she was grateful he stayed with Titan. Brady didn’t want to leave his father and grandfather’s legacy until it was stabilized. Dimitri and Gwen argued about who had the legal right to stay at the mansion. He blamed her for his kidnapping. Dimitri planned to freeze her access to her accounts pending the outcome of their investigation. Gwen refused to leave the mansion. Dimitri planned to reveal to get his money back and make Gwen pay for what she stole. Smirking, she told him that he cared more about money than Leo because he argued with her instead of chasing down his lover. Dimitri told her that he would get Leo back. Gwen told him that Leo fell in love with someone who wasn’t a liar or a cheater. She felt like Leo was lucky to be rid of him.

Kayla went into Kristen’s room and let her know that she had bad news. She let her know that Peter died. Kristen was confused because she was just talking to him. She felt guilty for what she did to him. Kayla reminded her that she was trying to save her family. She let Kristen know that she ordered an autopsy to find out the cause of death. After she left Kristen’s room, Kayla ran into Chad. She let him know what happened to Peter. Rafe and Jada arrived at the hospital to see Peter. They wanted to get his statement. Kayla let them know that Peter died. She told them that what happened up to the moment he died, but it didn’t lead to any new information. Chad comforted Kristen. He told her that he hoped Peter was at peace despite what he did to them. Kristen wished he didn’t wake up for a moment because it made his death harder. Peter warned her that he would see her in H*ll. She thought that it might be true since she betrayed her brother. Chad told her that Peter was the one who betrayed the family. Rafe went to Kristen’s room to get information from her. He wanted to know what the last thing was that Peter said to her. Kristen told Rafe that it was personal, and she didn’t want him to keep asking her about it. She wanted him to leave. Rafe never seen her so sad before. Kristen said she wanted to get revenge on EJ. She offered to team up with Rafe to take EJ down. Rafe told her to stay out of trouble. She wanted him to think about her offer.

Gabi went to Theo’s hospital room to see him. She couldn’t believe the way she treated him when she found out that he was going to run DiMera Enterprises. Theo reminded her that he forgave her. Jada walked in the room to talk to Theo about what happened in the crypt. He told her what happened while they were in the crypt. Theo wondered how they got out of the crypt so Jada told him that Kristen saved them. Jada told him that Kristen didn’t save Peter because he died. Theo felt bad for Peter, but he was a maniac. He knew his mother didn’t want him to get involved with the DiMeras. The family was always good to him, but he could see what it meant to be a DiMera.

Alex went to see Xander to tell him about his engagement. He noticed Bonnie’s manuscript on Xander’s desk. Xander wanted to talk about Stephanie’s failing mystery novel. He told Alex that Stephanie needed to do more publicity. Alex wanted to cancel the promotion. He told Xander about the stalker. Xander understood about the stalker, but said Titan had security. He told Alex that Stephanie had to honor her contract. Alex said Stephanie didn’t have to honor her contract. He told Xander to let Stephanie work on another novel. Xander said he would talk to Stephanie, but Alex said he wouldn’t do it. Jada took the handcuffs off of Kristen. Kayla came in and told Kristen that her infection was gone. She told Kristen that she could sign the forms to take Peter off life support if she still wanted to do it. Justin brought her the paperwork. Kirsten signed the papers. She went to see Peter so she could talk to her. Kristen wanted to have faith. Kayla said it wasn’t likely that Peter was going to survive off life support.

Kayla started the process to take Peter off life support. Peter started breathing and his vitals went back to normal. Kristen gave permission for extra treatments and medicine. Kayla suggested that Kristen talk to Peter. When Kayla left, Peter grabbed for Kristen’s arm. Kristen said she forgave him and wanted him to forgive her too. He said he would see her in Hell. Peter yelled at her until she left. Rafe was in Jada’s office when she got back. He said the FBI encrypted the signal from the hidden crypt camera. Rafe said Peter may not have planted the camera. He said the signal was going to Alamania. Jada asked if it was Vivian and Rafe said it was. Rafe said Vivian wouldn’t benefit if the DiMeras died, but Stefan would. He said it was too bad Stefan was dead. Jada went over the evidence of Stefan’s death. They wondered why Vivian would go to all of this trouble to fake Stefan’s death if he was alive. At the hospital, someone dressed as a doctor injected something into Peter’s IV. Kristen told Kayla what happened with Peter. Kayla called Jada to tell her what happened. While Kayla was talking to Jada, she got a code blue from Peter’s room.The doctor came out of Peter’s room. It turned out to be Rolf.

Leo and Javi were shocked to see Dimitri. Gwen came over to talk to them. Leo wanted to know what was going on. Dimitri said he was kidnapped after he got out of prison and was taken to Alamania. He said he was taken from the man he loved. Dimitri said he had a gun to his head when he wrote the goodbye letter. He said he never saw who made him do it, but he had an idea who did it. Everyone looked at Gwen. She denied having anything to do with what happened. Leo tried to cope with the fact that Dimitri never stopped loving him. He told Dimitri that he was in love with someone else. Dimitri referred to Javi as Leo’s new husband. He told Leo that he was sent to town and went to the Salem Inn and didn’t know about the wedding. Dimitri thought Gwen set everything up. He said his flight was delayed, but if it wasn’t, he would have showed up during the wedding. Javi told Leo to deal with his feelings for Dimitri. He told Leo that he was going to ask Marlena not to file the marriage certificate yet. Javi said Leo had to figure it out without him. He walked off. Leo ripped into Dimitri and Gwen before he walked off. Dimitri accused Gwen of setting everything up and was determined to prove it. He said he would make her pay. Gwen was afraid of the threat. Sarah told Brady that they were going to celebrate the new year. She said they needed to talk about the kiss. Brady wanted to kiss again. Maggie interrupted them. They invited Maggie to join them, but she refused. When Maggie left, Brady and Sarah kissed each other. Javi rang in the new year crying. Leo went to their room.

The town square was set up for Javi and Leo’s wedding. Rafe checked in with Javi. Chad arrived and found out that Leo was missing. Marlena let him know that Leo was having a panic attack when she talked to him. Leo didn’t answer his phone. Arianna freaked out. Javi started spiraling. Leo arrived in a cheerful mood. Chad and Gwen caught up. She told him that she was worried about him when he was missing. Gwen told him that Jennifer was a terrible person for trying to take his kids from him. Marlena was happy that Leo arrived for the ceremony. He credited her advice for why he showed up. The wedding got started. Marlena talked about Leo and how she was happy for him. She started the ceremony. Marlena asked if anyone objected to Javi and Leo getting married. No one said anything. Leo stared at Gwen, and she gave him the thumbs up. Arianna and Gabi did a poetry reading. Gwen looked around like she was nervous. Javi and Leo said their “I do’s” and started their vows. Chad and Rafe handed the grooms their rings. Gwen became annoyed and impatient. After the vows, Javi and Leo kissed each other. Javi and Leo signed their marriage certificate after the ceremony. Marlena informed the grooms that their marriage wasn’t official until she filed it with the court. She said she couldn’t do it on New Year’s Day. Gwen approached Leo and Javi and congratulated them. She walked off. Gwen watched them kiss. She sent a text, and Dimitri arrived. Gwen was practically breathless with anticipation.

Rafe praised Cat for her work on the DiMera case. Her actions made it possible for Theo to get the help he needed. They talked about how they were wrong about EJ being responsible for the kidnappings. Cat said that EJ leaving town to be with Sydney would give her time to snoop around to see what he’s hiding. Rafe was worried about Sydney. Cat told him that she was having panic attacks since EJ disappeared. Rafe told her that he was worried about Sydney since she was his stepdaughter. They talked about Stefan. She had a copy of Stefan’s death certificate from Vivian which she just filed. They wondered if he faked his death because of the time Vivian waited to file his death certificate. Rafe hoped for Gabi’s sake that Stefan was really dead. They still wanted to know about the bones from the DiMera crypt. Rafe realized it was getting late. He had to get to Javi and Leo’s wedding. Rafe wanted to get Leo drunk so he could get information out of him. Gabi went to the DiMera mansion and saw Gwen drinking. She wanted to see the dress Gabi made for her to wear to the wedding. Gabi let her know that she didn’t finish it and told her that Stefan might be dead. She told Gwen that Vivian claimed Stefan died in October. Gabi thought it might be true. Jake’s heart gave out on him. Gwen said she loved Jake at one point. She was okay with Gabi not making the dress. Gwen wanted her to leave.

Arianna was glad that Marlena was out of the hospital. She vented to her about dreading Javi’s wedding because of Leo. Arianna talked to her about the things that Leo to her dads. Marlena didn’t forget what Leo did, but she forgave him because he changed. Arianna knew that her fathers forgave him, but she didn’t know why she had trouble doing it. Chanel and Johnny were with Trey. She felt like she should stay with the baby and not go to the wedding. Johnny felt like she didn’t want to be around him. Chanel admitted that she was upset with him because he wasn’t happy about her being pregnant. Johnny told her that he wasn’t unhappy. He was scared because the pregnancy could be dangerous for her. They have a beautiful and healthy baby. Johnny and Trey needed her. Chanel wanted him to come clean. Johnny felt like she shouldn’t have the baby. Chanel wasn’t happy about what he said. Johnny thought they should listen to the doctors. If there was a chance that the cancer could come back, the pregnancy wouldn’t be worth it. Chanel told him that it was her body, and her choice. She felt like it was worth it to have the baby.
