Update written by Joseph

At Marlena’s house, she and Julie sit together as Julie talks about their book of the month for the book club. Julie notices Marlena being distracted by the Cubs game on TV. Marlena apologizes and explains that she doesn’t really have interest in baseball, but watching it makes her feel closer to John. Julie understands as Doug loved the Cubs too. Julie then brings up that this is the game that Chad and Belle are attending.

EJ and Cat kiss until they end up seeing Chad and Belle kiss on the kiss cam at the Cubs game, leaving them shocked.

Julie and Marlena are surprised to see Chad and Belle kiss on the kiss cam on TV.

Paulina sits alone at Small Bar with a glass of wine. Paulina thinks back to asking EJ for his miracle drug to help Chanel but EJ saying he can’t help her. Paulina pulls out her phone and declares that she’s not taking no for an answer.

Johnny talks to Chanel at home about future honeymoon vacations, but Chanel tells him that she’s sorry as she can’t do this.

Julie tells Marlena that she’s very pleased to see things progressing between Chad and Belle since Chad has such an awful time losing Abigail and then the nasty business with Cat Green. Marlena points out that not being entirely Cat’s fault. Julie says she knows, but that Cat still hurt a lot of people, so she’s very happy to see Chad moving on. Julie adds that if things develop between Belle and Chad, she will be over the moon. Marlena admits that she would be too as Chad is such a good man and dad. Marlena brings up Belle moving on from EJ, but says they shouldn’t get ahead of themselves since it is only their third date. Julie points out that this time, Chad brought along the children which is a good sign. They agree that what they saw on television was a terrific sign and very public. Julie wonders if they realized that the entire Chicago area has seen them kissing.

EJ turns off the TV and tells Cat that it seems that Chad and Belle had the same idea that they did. EJ asks if Cat is upset. Cat assures that she’s not as she and Chad are over, so he has every right to move on. EJ says they do too. Cat asks if EJ isn’t upset about seeing Belle with his brother. EJ says not in the least as Belle is in the past for him and he is now happily focused on the future which means Cat as they continue kissing.

Johnny questions what Chanel means and what’s wrong. Chanel says she appreciates everything he’s done and she knows how hard he’s trying to cheer her up, but the talk about honeymoons and vacations is making her think about what’s next for them when she needs to focus on staying in the present. Chanel says thinking about the future makes her think about what happens if she’s not there. Johnny hugs her and says he’s so sorry as he did not mean to upset her. Chanel says she knows that and if she wasn’t so in her head, a getaway would be nice for them as they are both going through this. Johnny doesn’t care about anything that isn’t helpful to her right now. Chanel says she’s so grateful to have him by her side. Chanel wants to believe that a second honeymoon is in their future, but she really wants to focus on right now and right now is great as she has a wonderful, caring husband by her side who is supporting her through everything. Johnny encourages that she has more than enough strength for both of them. They say they love each other as they kiss.

Marlena tells Julie that regardless of who saw Chad and Belle kissing on TV, she’s just glad they are both moving on. Marlena says that Chad and Belle have known each other for so long and have just begun seeing each other in a different light. Marlena compares it to Julie and Foster. Julie argues that they only had one date. Marlena notes they didn’t talk about it, so she asks how it went. Julie responds that it was lovely, but when she came home, she felt very uncertain. Julie explains that after losing Doug, she didn’t think she could look at another man ever again, but going out with Foster was a comfort while part of her felt she was being untrue to Doug’s memory so she felt guilty. Marlena hopes she can get past the feeling of guilt, because Doug would want her to be happy and if she gets some comfort from someone else, she hopes she won’t deprive herself of that. Julie knows it’s silly and doesn’t make sense. Julie calls Foster good company, witty, charming, and bright. Marlena hopes she sees him again. Julie confirms that she will, but she has no idea if it’s going anywhere. Julie admits that for the first time in a long time, she didn’t feel so alone.

Chad, Belle, Thomas, and Charlotte return to the park. Thomas can’t believe he caught the foul ball and credits Belle for the advice she gave him. Charlotte liked seeing Chad on the big screen at the game. Chad calls it pretty cool and wonders who else saw them. Belle laughs it off and says she doesn’t care as she asks if he does.

EJ and Cat continue kissing until EJ suggests taking this upstairs, but Cat feels that’s moving a little fast for her. Cat points out that she’s still his employee, so they are crossing some boundaries. Cat adds that EJ just saw his ex kissing his brother on television and suddenly he wants to whisk her away to the bedroom. Cat says he can’t tell her those aren’t connected, but EJ insists they aren’t. EJ says he was simply enjoying kissing her and didn’t want to stop, but he does agree they should wait to take this further until the timing is right, so that’s what they are going to do. Cat thanks him for understanding. EJ reminds her that whatever happens next between them is up to her.

Julie tells Marlena that it’s been over a year since she lost John, so she wonders if Marlena thinks of meeting someone. Marlena responds that she can’t picture herself with anybody but John. Julie notes that she felt the same, but repeats that in her time with Foster, she felt less alone, so she wants that for Marlena when she’s ready. Julie then gets a phone call from Foster.

Chad tells Belle that he does not care if the entire world saw him kissing a beautiful woman. Thomas asks if he would’ve kissed her even if they weren’t on camera. Chad says that’s between he and Belle. Chad tells the kids that their friend Sally called and her mom agreed to watch them, so they get to go to the fair. Chad gives the kids some money and sends them off to the fair. Belle tells Chad that she thinks it was a pretty good third date and adds that if he hadn’t kissed her, she definitely would’ve kissed him.

Cat thanks EJ for understanding and hopes she didn’t ruin the evening. EJ tells Cat that an evening with her could never be ruined. EJ invites her to stay for dinner since they’re slowing it down. Cat says she would love to but she made dinner plans with the family and it’s a rare opportunity to have them all together. EJ says he understands and they will call it a night then until next time. Cat thanks him again and kisses him on the cheek as she then exits the mansion. Cat then pulls out her phone and texts her brother Mark, suggesting a family dinner on her tonight. Mark responds that it works for him and suggests Small Bar as he’s already there. Back inside, EJ picks up the Wuthering Heights book and then puts it back down in frustration and hurries out of the mansion.

Johnny and Chanel kiss until Johnny suggests taking it to the bedroom. Chanel says that’s a great idea, but she first has something she’s been wanting to talk to him about that has been on her mind a lot since she was diagnosed and she’s guessing it’s been on his mind too. Johnny asks what it is. Chanel says that obviously her body is going to be different depending on her treatment and she’s been reading up on how to process these changes. Chanel wants them to be honest about what it might look like for both of them if it comes to that. Johnny responds that he’s really glad she brought it up and admits it has been on his mind, but he hasn’t wanted to broach the subject because he figured she would talk about it when she’s ready. Johnny tells Chanel that nothing will ever change the way he feels about her as he loves her with all his heart. Johnny praises all the things he loves about her. Johnny declares that no matter what happens with her treatment or her surgery, she will always be perfect to him no matter what. They kiss until they’re interrupted by a knock at the door. Paulina arrives and tells Johnny that she needs him to call EJ right now.

Chad and Belle sit together in the park. They talk about the kids having a good time. Belle tells him a story about when she was little and she hid a duck in the house until Marlena found it and freaked out. Chad brings up the last time he saw Marlena rattled was when Stefano left her the chess set. Belle finds it odd since it was left to Marlena and John, almost like a final message. Belle says Marlena and Brady don’t care to decipher it, but she would love to know as she feels it has to mean something.

Cat goes to Small Bar where Mark is drinking alone at the bar. They embrace as Cat asks if everything is okay and then questions if Felicity and Aaron aren’t joining them. Mark reveals that Felicity is out with her boyfriend Todd while Aaron is packing for a trip with his friends tomorrow to Smith Island which Cat questions. Mark says now that Aaron is in college, he feels more like a roommate than a guardian and questions why it matters to Cat. Cat asks if Mark wants to tell her what’s going on. Mark suggests they sit down, so they do as Cat asks him again what’s wrong.

Marlena walks Julie to the book store. Julie talks about their new security system going down already and says she’s sure Foster will explain. Marlena wonders if Foster needing her assistance was just an excuse to see her again. EJ then approaches and greets them. Julie acknowledges that EJ bought a book from her store. EJ responds that he needed a book to read to get his mind off everything. Julie says a good book will do that and tells Marlena that they’ll talk soon as she walks away. Marlena assumes something is weighing on EJ. EJ responds that it is quite heavily and it has to do with Belle.

Paulina apologizes for barging in and says she tried calling or texting both Johnny and Chanel but it went to voicemail. Johnny says his phone was on do not disturb, so he checks it and sees he also has a missed call from Xander. Paulina repeats that she needs him to call EJ. Chanel asks why and what’s going on. Paulina complains that he won’t give her the drug he used to cure Lexie. Chanel questions why she would need that. Paulina argues that the miracle drug made Lexie’s brain tumor disappear and brought her back to life, so she questions why Chanel should have to suffer the side effects of chemo and radiation but EJ wouldn’t even consider it and that’s why she needs Johnny to call him right away.

Chad tells Belle that all he knows is what Theo read in the will and asks if Belle inspected the box for a clue. Belle points out that the only clue was that there as a missing pawn. Chad agrees that must be a reference to John as the pawn. Belle just wants to make sure that whatever it means is nothing Marlena needs to worry about. Chad offers to look in to it and says maybe between the two of them, they can figure it out.

EJ tells Marlena that he saw Chad and Belle kissing on TV. Marlena hopes it didn’t put a damper on his date with Cat. EJ responds that seeing their exes in a liplock for the world to see was a distraction, but points out that he and Cat were kissing just as they popped up on screen. Marlena guesses they are still exploring their Italian connection outside of therapy which EJ confirms. EJ wonders if seeing Chad and Belle together was a sign that now that their former lovers have clearly moved on, maybe he and Cat are destined to move on with each other. EJ hopes that as they get closer, they can solve the mystery of how they ended up together in Italy.

Mark tells Cat that he’s fine and just had a long day at work. Cat asks if there’s anything in particular he wants to talk about. Mark says not really, but admits the job has just been very difficult lately. Cat asks if there’s a problem with EJ’s drug. Mark says no and asks why she would think that. Cat explains that when she first asked EJ to use it on their mom, he seemed to consider it but now he’s back pedaling and refusing. Mark orders another drink and a wine for Cat. Mark tells Cat that they can’t use the drug on humans without FDA approval and even if they got it approved, it would be too late. Cat understands that he signed an NDA and can’t tell her what’s going on, but argues this is their mother and questions if he’s just going to let her go without a fight.

Johnny guesses it never occurred to him to ask EJ about the drug or thought about it as a cancer treatment. Paulina orders Johnny to call EJ and make him hand it over. Chanel questions doing this without discussing it with her first and what makes them think that she would want to take a super drug from EJ when she’s already decided on a prescribed treatment that they promised wouldn’t harm her baby. Chanel refuses to be a guinea pig for experimental medication while she’s pregnant. Chanel adds that if she thought the drug could save her life, she would be in debt to EJ but she doesn’t and she’s thankful for that because she never wants to be in debt to EJ again.

Cat demand an answer from Mark. Mark calls it unfair because he would do anything to help their mom. Cat asks him to tell her what’s going on then and asks if she should push EJ for the drug. Mark tells her no because they don’t want that drug anywhere near their mom. Cat questions him as to why not, but Mark says that’s all he can say.

Chanel knows Paulina is worried about her and was just trying to help, but says she shouldn’t have gone behind her back to badger EJ without talking to her first. Chanel gets that Paulina acted impulsively, but if she came to her, she would’ve told her that EJ’s drug is not the answer. Chanel states that her cancer is treatable and she now has a doctor she trusts, so she is going to follow what she recommends and take this one day at a time. Chanel asks Paulina to trust that her treatment is what is right for her. Paulina agrees and apologizes for going behind her back. Chanel hugs her and says she loves her for trying to help. Paulina says she’ll see her at the hospital before her surgery tomorrow as she then exits. Chanel hopes she didn’t hurt her feelings when she was just trying to help and make it go away. Johnny thinks she handled it very well and says he’s always proud of her as he hugs her.

Marlena wishes EJ and Cat well as she knows the mystery has been plaguing him for sometime. EJ brings up that Marlena has her own mystery to solve with Stefano’s chess board. Marlena tells EJ that she couldn’t care less why he left it or what it means. Marlena says after all Stefano did to her and John, she’s so happy to move on permanently. EJ declares that unlike her, he’s not one to leave a mystery unsolved as he walks away.

Belle asks if Chad would really help her find the secret in the chess set. Chad admits he’s very curious to find out what Stefano was up to as well. Belle agrees to take him up on that but wants to make sure Marlena doesn’t find out. Chad agrees to keep it between them. Chad hopes to give Belle a proper kiss now that isn’t in front of the entire world. Belle admits she would like that very much, so they kiss.

Update written by Joseph

Cat goes to the DiMera Mansion and tells EJ that she just needed him to sign some documents, noting that she had to track him down because he never came to the office. Cat notices EJ being distracted and asks if everything is okay. EJ responds that it’s not.

Chad sits in the town square with Thomas and Charlotte as they prepare to attend a Cubs game. Thomas asks when Belle is coming so they can leave before they are late. Chad assures that she’ll be there soon and is just finishing up some work.

At the police station, Belle goes over Stephanie and Joy’s statements and tells Jada that her takeaway is that they are both really lucky as Joy could’ve been badly hurt or worse. They are thankful she didn’t have Kelsey with her. Jada asks Belle how her office wants to proceed.

Steve and Kayla go to Alex and Stephanie’s apartment. Kayla hugs Alex and says thank God everyone’s alright and asks where Stephanie is. Alex says she’s finally sleeping but still shaken up. Alex didn’t think they’d get there so fast when their plane just landed. Kayla says they just dropped off their bags and came straight over. Steve asks if the district attorney’s office has decided to press charges. Alex says they haven’t heard yet but he has Justin on standby. Kayla says they know Alex has to get going. Alex worries about if Stephanie wakes up. Steve says that’s why they are there. Alex thanks them and says he’ll be back soon as he exits.

Stephanie has a nightmare about shooting Joy and wakes up screaming in terror.

Cat asks if EJ wants to talk about what’s upsetting him. EJ informs her that his daughter in law Chanel has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Cat says she’s so sorry. EJ calls it a heavy blow and wishes there was something he could do. Cat asks if the miracle drug could possibly help Chanel but EJ says absolutely not.

Thomas asks Chad if Belle is coming to the Cubs game as a friend or as a date. Chad says it’s both which Thomas says is cool because he really likes Belle. Chad says he does too.

Steve and Kayla rush to Stephanie’s bedside and try to comfort her from her nightmare, reassuring her that she didn’t hurt Joy. Stephanie cries that it felt so real. Steve asks if it would help to talk about it. Stephanie responds that she feels so ashamed as she promised Steve that she would be safe and lock the gun up but she was so afraid that Owen would come back that she broke their promise. Stephanie cries that she let him down but Steve insists that she didn’t.

Belle and Jada talk about knowing what happened was accidental so Belle thinks it would be a waste of resources to pursue charges unless Joy files a complaint, then they would have no choice.

Alex joins Joy and Kelsey at the Pub. Alex tells Joy that he’s beyond sorry about what happened and how relieved he is that she’s okay. Alex asks if Joy has given any thought to how she’s going to handle this and if she’s going to file a criminal complaint against Stephanie. Joy responds that he’s damn right she is.

Cat tells EJ that she didn’t mean to upset him and she just thought since the drug helped cure Lexie’s brain tumor, then it might possibly help Chanel as well. EJ responds that it is possible but he intends to follow the law and submit the drug to the FDA for approval before it can be used on living patients. EJ says this means their research will be under higher scrutiny so experimenting on a pregnant woman is out of the question. Cat realizes that means it can’t help her mother as well. EJ tells her that he hates to disappoint her as he knows how devoted she is to her family and he’s so sorry that it can’t be used on her mother.

Belle joins Chad and the kids in the town square and says she’s so excited to be going to the Cubs game with them. Chad sends the kids to throw their trash away and then tells Belle that Thomas said he really likes her. Belle says she really likes the kids and their father too. Chad says the feeling is mutual.

Kayla asks Stephanie how many sleeping pills she took today. Stephanie says she took one on the plane and one when she got home. Kayla worries that’s pushing the recommended dosage and might explain why she woke up confused, thinking Joy was an intruder. Steve asks where the gun is now. Stephanie informs him that Jada confiscated it as evidence. Steve says at least they can count on Jada being fair. Stephanie asks if the district attorney’s office will press charges against her. Steve admits it’s a possibility and questions why the gun wasn’t locked in the gun safe. Stephanie admits she wanted it to be in easy reach in case an attacker got to her. She knows it was stupid, wrong, and reckless. She adds that if the gun had been stored and unloaded in the safe, she would’ve had time to realize it was Joy before firing it. Steve notes that it looks like she learned her lesson the hard way. Steve adds that if no case is brought against her, the gun will be returned to her and she will then keep it locked in the gun safe. Stephanie responds that she doesn’t want the gun as she doesn’t trust herself with it. She thought it would make her feel safe, but she now feels less safe than ever.

Jada joins Shawn at Small Bar where the Cubs game is on TV. Jada mentions Belle attending the game as Chad and the kids had an extra ticket. Shawn imagines they had a lot to unload after what happened with Stephanie and Joy. Jada says the good news is that Belle’s office doesn’t plan to press charges which Shawn calls a huge relief. Jada hopes Joy doesn’t force the issue.

Joy tells Alex that Stephanie tried to shoot her, so of course she’s going to file a complaint. Alex knows she’s shaken by what happened but points out that she wasn’t hurt. Joy remarks that’s only because Stephanie has terrible aim or else she’d be in the hospital or the morgue. Alex knows what she went through is terrifying and she has every reason to be upset, but argues that she has to understand that Stephanie thought she was an intruder and she would’ve never fired the gun if she knew it was her. Joy thought Alex was here to check on her, but he just wants to make sure that his wife doesn’t suffer any consequences for nearly blowing her head off and she’s not okay with that. Joy declares that his wife belongs in jail where she can never hurt her or her daughter again.

EJ repeats to Cat that he’s so sorry as he knows it isn’t what she wanted to hear, but even if the drug was approved, Dr. Rolf doesn’t believe it would improve her mother’s condition unless further research indicates otherwise. Cat questions EJ being in contact with Dr. Rolf. EJ claims it’s only been remotely as he’s been monitoring Lexie’s progress. EJ knows Cat was counting on the drug and repeats that he’s so sorry to disappoint her. EJ asks if there’s anything he can do to make it easier on her or make her feel better. Cat says not that she can think of and that she should get going. EJ questions her hurry. Cat mentions wanting to watch the baseball game, so EJ invites her to stay and they can watch it together.

Chad, Belle, Thomas, and Charlotte walk to the park as Charlotte is feeling car sick. Thomas worries about missing the first pitch. Belle encourages that maybe they’ll get extra innings and declares that what’s most important is that they could all be here together which makes Chad smile.

Jada hopes Joy doesn’t pursue a complaint against Stephanie as she would hate to be a witness against her best friend and Shawn’s cousin. Shawn calls it difficult to be objective when it involves someone you care about, but says all they can do is try their best to keep work separate from feelings. Jada asks if they are still talking about Stephanie or about them and their relationship.

Stephanie declares that she doesn’t want a gun in her house ever again. Steve is glad she feels that way as he doesn’t think she’s in any condition to have a weapon right now, but he wishes he realized that sooner. Stephanie says it’s not his fault as she lied to him. Kayla thinks she still has PTSD. Stephanie feels that’s no excuse and informs them that she made an appointment with Marlena for tomorrow because she needs to do something proactive to feel safe in her own skin again. Steve encourages her not to be so hard on herself when she’s been through so much in her life and she always comes through it, so she will do it again because she’s tough and strong. Stephanie cries that she doesn’t feel that way right now as they hug her.

Alex tells Joy that she has no idea what Stephanie has gone through the past few months and she’s trying to heal from the trauma of being kidnapped and is now having to deal with him having a child. Joy argues that Stephanie doesn’t want to be a stepmother and declares that even if she doesn’t go to jail, she’s not letting his wife near her kid ever again.

Belle encourages Thomas about catching a foul ball as Chad comes back with Charlotte feeling better. They talk about stopping at the fair on the way home. Belle shares baseball advice that John gave her with Thomas as they get ready to go.

EJ surprises Cat by informing her that he is a baseball fan. Cat shares with EJ that she is a fan of the Royals since she and her family lived in Kansas City for awhile. EJ assumes that’s where she met Clyde Weston.

Shawn confesses to Jada that since they’ve been spending so much time together lately, he does wish things turned out different. Jada admits she does too and that she’s kind of dreading him moving back to his own place because she’s going to miss his company. Shawn says he will miss her company too along with their movie nights and cooking together as it’s been great, but maybe a little bit dangerous since it brings up old feelings. Shawn thinks it’s great to finally acknowledge those feelings but they can’t act on them since she is his superior at work. Jada says lucky for them, there are ways around those rules.

Stephanie calls it hard to believe they were all just in China, having a great time at Tripp and Wendy’s wedding and now everything is falling apart. Steve encourages that it’s just a hard time, but she and Alex aren’t falling apart and will soon have a big celebration of their own. Stephanie wishes she could be excited about that but she feels so ashamed. Stephanie asks them not to tell Tripp or Joey because she doesn’t want to disappoint them too. Kayla says they won’t but promises they would only care that she’s okay and she will be. Stephanie responds that she just doesn’t see how.

Alex tells Joy that asking him to keep his wife and his daughter apart is not a reasonable demand. Joy questions her being the unreasonable one when she nearly got shot. Alex tells Joy that they have to find a way to make this work for Kelsey’s sake. Joy tells Alex that he’s welcome to visit Kelsey any time at her place without Stephanie. Alex argues that Joy hid Kelsey from him for six months but he accepted her and agreed to supported her, but now she’s trying to put conditions on that. Joy asks if he’s trying to blackmail her by saying he won’t be apart of Kelsey’s life if Stephanie can’t. Alex assures her that what happened today won’t happen again and it can’t because Jada confiscated the gun and Stephanie doesn’t even want it in the house. Joy argues that it’s not about the gun, but that Stephanie is unstable and she won’t let that be her or Kelsey’s problem. Joy declares that Kelsey is her only priority and right now, she doesn’t trust Stephanie around her. Joy proposes that she won’t file a complaint against Stephanie if Alex agrees to keep her out of Kelsey’s life. Alex calls that blackmail. Joy says if he doesn’t like it, they can fight it out in court. Alex argues that they have to find middle ground. Joy says they can’t, so either he agrees to her terms or his wife will suffer the consequences for what she did to her. Alex then reluctantly decides they have a deal.

Cat tells EJ that she doesn’t know how her family got mixed up with Clyde Weston and she obviously wishes they hadn’t. Cat says because of Clyde, she lost her father and pretty much lost her mother and Chad. Cat apologizes as she’s sure it’s awkward for her to bring up her past with his brother, especially since they’ve been feeling a connection since remembering their time at the rehba hospital in Italy together. EJ says there’s no denying it. Cat remarks that she wishes she could’ve remembered more during her hypnosis with Marlena. EJ doesn’t know why it means so much to remember those memories, when they are together again and able to make new memories.

Shawn questions what Jada is suggesting. Jada points out that technically, Shawn doesn’t report directly to her so it wouldn’t be a violation of policy if they pursued a relationship and disclose it if it were of some interest.

Kayla assures Stephanie that she will be okay and urges her not to let this mistake define her. Alex comes home and informs Stephanie that he asked her parents to keep an eye on her while he talked to Joy. Alex announces that Joy is not going to press charges which they say is great news.

Cat asks EJ what kind of new memories he had in mind. EJ says it depends on what kind of memories she wants to make as he’s happy to follow her lead. Cat suggests they start by holding hands. Cat then tells EJ that there may be a memory she wants to make with him more as she kisses him.

Alex, Stephanie, Steve, and Kayla walk through the town square. Stephanie says she feels better as Steve encourages that getting out of the house was a good idea. Kayla suggests getting ice cream so she and Steve go to get it. Steve questions why he didn’t know better than to give Stephanie a gun. Kayla encourages that he was trying to protect his daughter and to be grateful there was no tragedy. Steve asks how she knows exactly what he needs to hear as they hug. Stephanie tells Alex that she still feels so awful about what happened but she’s relieved to know she won’t be facing criminal charges. Alex calls it a relief to him too. Stephanie picks up a flyer for Tate’s new gym and self defense classes. They then spot Joy and Kelsey in the town square. Stephanie feels she should go apologize again and thank Joy for not filing a complaint. Alex tells her that he doesn’t think that’s a good idea and suggests she just leave it alone for now and let it go.

Shawn assures Jada that there’s definitely interest in pursuing a relationship as they end up kissing. They then look over at the TV where they see Chad and Belle end up on the kiss cam at the Cubs game and they kiss. Jada jokes that they’re trying to steal their thunder. Shawn responds that they won’t let them as he and Jada continue kissing.

Update written by Joseph

EJ finds Holly crying in the town square and asks her what’s wrong.

Xander goes to the DiMera Enterprises office and finds Theo at the desk. Xander asks if Johnny is around. Theo says he should be in soon as they had a meeting scheduled. Xander questions Theo sitting at his desk. Theo reveals that he might be returning to DiMera soon but nothing is set in stone yet. Xander informs Theo then that Titan is dropping the plagiarism lawsuit. Theo says that’s great news, but questions why.

Johnny and Chanel see Sarah at the hospital. They tell her things went great with Dr. Patel, who had way better bedside manner than Dr. George. Johnny thanks Sarah for the recommendation. They talk about feeling much better as Chanel says this doctor listened to her concerns and answered her questions. Sarah asks if they made any decisions. Chanel says she still has concerns but after meeting with this doctor, she’s agreed to start chemotherapy as soon as possible.

Gabi and Arianna sit together at home. Gabi asks Ari about her internship at DiMera and if she’s learning a lot. Ari says that Johnny was showing her the ropes but he hasn’t been around lately, so it’s mostly been entering data and ordering lunch. Gabi says she has to start somewhere. Ari mentions that Kate asked her to tell her if she heard anything exciting which Gabi questions.

Kate approaches Roman outside of the Pub and says there’s something serious she needs to talk to him about. Kate thinks back to Xander urging her to be honest with Roman. Kate then reveals to Roman that she lied when she told him she had nothing to do with setting Johnny up for the lawsuit. Roman questions if he heard her right and if she’s admitting to setting Johnny up. Kate confirms that she is and she’s so sorry. Kate explains that Titan is in dire straits so she was desperate to make an impact and felt sure that Johnny would settle so it would all go away and she never intended to hurt Johnny or Roman, calling it just business. Roman argues that she railroaded his grandson and made it look like he was unethical and made him feel guilty for doubting her. Kate says she feels horrible. Roman questions why Kate is telling him the truth now after all these months.

Gabi asks Arianna if Kate asked her to spy at DiMera. Ari says not spy, she just wanted to know if anything interesting happened. Gabi questions if it means the lawsuit and asks if Ari has been feeding Kate information. Ari says there’s been nothing to feed and she’s just an intern. Gabi talks about she could hear anything and orders her to stay out of it with Kate as she has family on both sides. Gabi warns that she does not want to get in the middle between Titan and DiMera.

Theo asks if Xander is admitting the lawsuit was a sham and that he was setting Johnny up. Xander responds that he just owes Johnny an apology which Theo calls a start. Theo admits the lawsuit is probably low on his priority list. Xander asks what else is going on but Theo says it’s not for him to say, so he’ll have to ask Johnny.

Sarah says she knows it wasn’t an easy decision but she does think starting chemo now is the way to go. Johnny tells Sarah how grateful they are to her being in their corner. Sarah says she’s just happy to help. Johnny mentions that they’ll be due for surgery tomorrow. Sarah encourages it will make things smoother down the road and says she’ll check in before surgery. Chanel thanks her again for everything as Sarah walks away. Chanel hugs Johnny and reminds him that he has a meeting to get to. Johnny says he doesn’t have to be there but Chanel tells him to go and that he’ll have plenty of time to take off later. Johnny tells Chanel that he loves her so much and the next couple months will be rough, but when it’s over, they are going to have a beautiful life with two beautiful kids and this will all be behind them. Johnny then exits the hospital.

Holly informs EJ that she just ran in to Amy Choi. EJ asks what she said to her. Holly thought when the police decided not to press charges against her, she thought this nightmare was over but it’s like Amy is picking up where Sophia left off in trying to ruin her life. EJ questions if she’s been harassing and threatening her which she confirms. EJ argues that Amy shouldn’t be harassing anyone after what Sophia did to Johnny. Holly says that’s not how she sees it. EJ tells Holly that he will take care of it and to leave Amy Choi to him. Holly questions what he’s going to do to her. EJ says he won’t do anything, he’ll just let her know that she can’t walk around town threatening her daughter’s victims. Holly asks how he can stop her. EJ tells her not to concern herself with his methods, but to let him know if she bothers her again. Holly tells EJ that she doesn’t want this to get any worse than it is. Xander then appears and tells EJ to get away from her.

Arianna invites Gabi to go eat at the Pub but Gabi gets a text from Theo, asking her to meet at DiMera. Gabi says she wasn’t expecting to hear from him and asks Ari if he’s back at the company. Ari says she doesn’t know but encourages that Theo might finally be ready to forgive her. Gabi says maybe so, even if Philip isn’t.

Johnny meets Theo at DiMera Enterprises. Theo says he’s sorry to hear about Chanel’s diagnosis. Johnny calls it a tough road ahead but says they just met with a great oncologist and are trying to stay positive. Theo says that Chanel is lucky to have him by her side. Johnny responds that he’s lucky to have Theo filling in at DiMera because he wants to make it to every one of Chanel’s appointments and be by her side, so the job can’t be his first priority right now. Theo tells Johnny to worry about Chanel and his family while he will worry about DiMera.

Xander questions EJ and accuses him of harassing Holly while Holly tells him it’s okay. EJ tells Xander that it’s none of his business but he was consoling his former stepdaughter. Holly tells Xander that she’s alright and she’ll see him at home. EJ assures her that he meant what he said as Holly then exits. Xander warns EJ to stay away from her. EJ tells Xander that Holly is his family and asks what she is to him. Xander points out that Holly is Victoria’s cousin and Sarah’s niece. Xander adds that he knows it was EJ that told Gwen about he and Kristen seeing each other. EJ laughs off that they weren’t being discrete about it. Xander says he doesn’t care what Gwen thinks while EJ brings up Sarah. Xander warns EJ about telling Sarah. EJ responds that if he doesn’t want Sarah to find out, maybe he should change his behavior. EJ then gets a text from Lexie that she needs to see him and walks away while Xander shouts after him that they aren’t done here.

Chanel goes home and tells Paulina it went really well with the new doctor, so she decided to move forward with chemotherapy which excites Paulina as they hug.

Kate tells Roman that she told him because she didn’t want him to find out another way since Xander plans to talk to Johnny. Roman guesses she would’ve kept it secret forever that she screwed over his grandson. Kate admits she may have. Kate says she was trying to help both of them since she wanted Titan and Philip to get back what DiMera took from them while Johnny would be forced out of DiMera like Roman wanted. Roman argues that he never would’ve wanted it that way and thought they were done with the secrets and lies. Roman says they’ve been through a lot and he’s forgiven her for a lot, but he’s heard enough. Roman declares that he’s heard enough and he needs some space as he storms off.

Holly meets Sarah at the Pub and tells her that she got accosted by Sophia’s mom, who made it clear that she’s not going to stop trying to punish her for Sophia’s death. Sarah says she’s sorry and that Amy is going through one of the worst losses possible but coming after her like that is unacceptable. Sarah offers to call Amy but Holly informs her that EJ said he would handle it, which Sarah questions. Holly explains that EJ saw her crying in the town square and told her not to worry about how he handles it, then Xander showed up to yell at EJ for upsetting her since he apparently really hates EJ. Sarah acknowledges that Xander cares about Holly.

Roman walks to the town square and calls Marlena. Roman leaves a message that he needs to talk to her and he hates to say that she was right that Kate lied to him.

Chanel tells Paulina about the plan for her surgery and chemotherapy. Paulina questions Chanel not looking optimistic. Chanel says she’s trying to be realistic as she’s been reading about the side effects to know what to expect. Chanel brings up that she won’t be able to breastfeed even though she was looking forward to that. Paulina encourages that they will still be able to bond. Chanel notes that her immune system will be really weak so she will have to be careful about coming in to contact with other germs, so if Trey catches anything, he’ll have to stay away from her. Paulina encourages that all that matters is that Trey still has his mom as he won’t remember any of this. Chanel points out that she will.

Johnny assures Theo that he is not stepping away from the company entirely. Theo insists he didn’t mean to make it sound like he was taking over as he just wants to help out however he can which Johnny says means a lot to him. Johnny says he knows things are different with Theo’s mom back but Theo says that doesn’t change anything and that Chanel will always be his sister. They agree that it feels good to be making a difference and change at DiMera, to leave a better legacy. Johnny reiterates that what’s best for him now is to step back and says that’s a lot easier knowing Theo is there. Theo then informs Johnny that Xander was just looking for him and reveals that Titan is dropping the lawsuit, leaving Johnny surprised.

EJ rushes home to the DiMera Mansion and asks Lexie what Dr. Rolf said. Lexie informs him that he said her grip strength is weak. EJ argues that she’s still recovering and could just need physical therapy but Lexie says it’s more than that. Lexie reveals that based on what happened with the lab rat, Dr. Rolf said this is just step one and if they can’t fix it, she may only have a few weeks left to live, leaving EJ in shock.

Holly questions Sarah thinking that Xander cares about her. Sarah says he thinks of her as family and he would do anything for the people he cares about. Holly jokes that not long ago, Sarah wouldn’t say anything nice about Xander. Sarah says they are living in the same house now, so they have to co-exist. Holly points out that even Maggie said things have been surprisingly peaceful between them. Sarah states that she always knew deep down there was humanity in Xander or she wouldn’t love him. Holly questions Sarah saying she loves him. Sarah admits that part of her always will as they were married and share a child. Holly asks if there’s any chance but Sarah assures that she and Xander could never because too much has happened and that’s just how it has to be.

Kate runs in to Xander in the town square and informs him that she told Roman everything and now she’s looking for him. Xander states that he just notified DiMera that he’s dropping the lawsuit and he’d like to apologize to Johnny next time he sees him. Kate feels she’ll be doing a lot of apologizing but she fears the fallout is just beginning.

Gabi meets Theo at DiMera Enterprises and says she’s surprised to see him there. Theo clarifies that he’s just helping out Johnny while he’s dealing with family stuff. Theo tells Gabi that they know his aunt and uncles are ready to fight Gabi on the inheritance, but he is the executor of Stefano’s will and he’s decided not to fight so the money is hers.

Paulina talks to Chanel about the next stretch being uncomfortable and scary but she will make it out the other side. Chanel worries that the treatment will be a lot rougher than what they went through before. Chanel adds that she wasn’t a mom last time and worries about what if she’s too weak or sick to be a good mom. Chanel fears she will miss so much while Paulina encourages that she will have years to make up for any time she loses as she hugs her. Chanel says she just needed to let that out but she’ll be okay. Paulina encourages that she’s far from alone as she’ll always be here. Johnny then comes home. Chanel notes that was a quick meeting and hugs him. Johnny says he had to sort things out but he wanted to be here. Paulina tells Chanel to call if she wants to talk more anytime. Chanel thanks her as they hug and Paulina then exits. Johnny informs Chanel that he has some good news which Chanel says they could definitely use some of. Outside the door, Paulina tearfully looks at the breast cancer pamphlet that Chanel showed her and takes it with her as she walks away.

EJ declares that he will not let Lexie die again and that Dr. Rolf will figure this out. Lexie says that Dr. Rolf said he would give her another dose of the drug to see if it will reverse the effects, but there’s no way of knowing if it will work. EJ pleads with Lexie to think positive and not give up, insisting that Dr. Rolf will stop at nothing to make sure she’s standing strong again. Lexie assures that there’s not a chance in Hell she’s going down without a fight. EJ asks if Abe knows. Lexie says he doesn’t and that EJ can’t tell him or anyone else. EJ asks what she wants. Lexie cries that she wants to live. EJ promises to do everything in his power to make sure she does.

Johnny informs Chanel that Titan dropped the lawsuit. Johnny says he doesn’t know how it happened but he’s glad it will make it easier for him to step back from the company along with Theo standing in his place. Chanel questions how that will work since she thought Abe and Lexie didn’t want him working for DiMera. Johnny doesn’t think it matters and encourages that Theo wants to help them as he said Chanel is his sister for life. Chanel says she couldn’t ask for a better brother.

Gabi thanks Theo and says it means so much to her, especially after how she treated him. Theo assures that he didn’t make the decision based on feelings he might have towards her, but because it’s the right thing to do as the evidence points to her being Stefan’s widow. Theo adds that he hasn’t told the rest of the family yet, but he will soon because it’s not up to them. Gabi thanks Theo. Theo adds that settling now means he doesn’t have to spend a lot of time in court seeing her and declares that moving forward, the less he sees Gabi, the happier he will be. Gabi then walks out of the office.

Arianna joins Holly and Sarah at the Pub. Holly says she was just telling Sarah about her latest run-in with Amy. Holly feels like no place in Salem is safe while Ari complains about her internship. Sarah says it sounds like they aren’t having the most fun summer and invites them to stay a couple days at the Horton Cabin which they agree would be amazing.

Paulina goes to the DiMera Mansion to confront EJ. EJ tells her it’s not a good time. Paulina brings up Chanel’s diagnosis. EJ says he was very sorry to hear about it and he has offered Johnny all his support. Paulina stops him and says one thing he hasn’t offered is Dr. Rolf’s miracle drug, which cured Lexie’s incurable brain tumor with none of the usual side effects. Paulina declares that she wants that drug for her daughter.

Lexie goes home and picks up a glass, but drops it and it shatters as her hand shakes and she holds back tears.

Xander runs in to Gabi in the town square. Gabi informs him that she was just notified that her claim to the inheritance was just approved. Xander says that Titan could really use that money and questions why she doesn’t seem to be in a celebratory mood. Gabi responds that she’s not giving her money away for free. Xander argues that it’s in exchange for his silence about the illegal recording she made that led to Titan’s financial situation. Gabi tells Xander that she needs more and she has a few things in mind. Gabi says she’ll get back to him with a list as she walks away, leaving Xander frustrated.

Sarah says it makes her happy to see Holly and Ari both smiling as they talk about being excited for the Horton Cabin. Sarah says she will let Julie and Maggie know and tells them to have fun as she exits the Pub. Holly tells Ari that she will invite Tate while Ari brings up inviting Aaron which surprises Holly. Ari explains that Aaron has been having a hard time with all the Sophia stuff and thinks he could use a break too, joking that she won’t be a third wheel that way. Holly agrees and says that it might get Ari’s mind off Liam too and thinks they could all use a little fun.

Johnny tells Chanel that it will be awhile before they can take a vacation, so he surprises her with a Hawaiian setup in their apartment. Johnny suggests they can take a second honeymoon there once everything is back to normal. Chanel agrees that normal sounds nice.

EJ tells Paulina that he’s sorry but he can’t help her. Paulina argues that he owes her because that drug would never have seen the light of day without her help. Paulina adds that this isn’t about her but about Johnny, Chanel, and their shared grandchildren. Paulina urges EJ to think about his family. EJ repeats that he can’t help her and rushes out.

Theo goes home to find Lexie cleaning up the glass and says she just knocked it over and it’s no big deal. Theo offers to help but Lexie says she can do it and it’s fine. Theo asks if she’s sure she’s okay. Lexie says she’s with her family and will hold onto every precious moment as long as she can as she hugs Theo while holding back tears.

Update written by Joseph

Tate and Holly sit together in the town square, talking about having a nice normal day as Tate says he’s glad to see her like this. Holly recalls being freaked out when Amy Choi said she wanted her charged for manslaughter. Tate says he feels for Sophia’s family but wanting to put Holly in prison is beyond ridiculous. Tate is thankful that Belle and Justin said there is not enough evidence to take it to trial. Holly feels she can finally breathe again, like this whole Sophia nightmare is finally over.

Amy Choi meets Melinda Trask at Small Bar. Melinda admits she was surprised to get her call, knowing she’s not her favorite person. Amy says she wasn’t kind to her when they first met. Melinda understands. Amy brings up Sophia turning to Melinda when wanting to give her child away. Amy cries about not giving Sophia the compassion she needed from her own mother instead of trying to control her. Amy says maybe if she just let Sophia hire Melinda, everything would’ve been different. Melinda says there’s no way to know that. Amy remembers that Melinda warned her that she could lose Sophia if she didn’t accept that it was her decision, and now she has. Amy cries that she would give anything to go back and love her without judgment. Amy asks Melinda what she is to do with all this regret.

Shawn and Jada walk in to the town square. Shawn tells her how much he appreciates her help the last few weeks. Shawn says that since he’s going back to work, maybe it’s time he moves back home. Jada says if that’s what he wants, but points out that he still can’t drive. Shawn doesn’t want to overstay his welcome. Jada assures that he hasn’t, so they agree to go relax back at her place as they walk off together.

Stephanie is asleep on the couch as Joy arrives knocking on the door. Stephanie doesn’t answer as she’s slowly starts to wake up. Joy then pulls out her key to open the door herself. Stephanie wakes up in a dazed panic and grabs her gun from the drawer as she thinks someone is breaking in. Stephanie then fires the gun as Joy opens the door. The bullet misses and hits the wall while Stephanie is shocked to realize it was Joy that she almost shot.

Leo continues watching Kelsey at the Brady Pub until Gwen walks in and asks if he’s airing out his problems to an infant. Leo responds that she’s an excellent listener, so Gwen jokes that maybe she should give it a try then.

Joy is in disbelief as she questions what the hell is wrong with Stephanie. Alex comes home and questions what’s going on. Joy responds that his psycho wife just tried to shoot her as Alex looks down and sees the gun in the drawer.

Leo talks to Gwen about watching Kelsey. Gwen jokes that her problems aren’t PG to talk to Kelsey about and she needs a drink. Leo suggests she could talk to him.

Amy apologizes to Melinda for breaking down and says one of the reasons she reached out is remembering that she also lost her daughter. Melinda recalls drowning in regret and anger along with wondering if she could’ve done more to save her. Melinda encourages that this is not Amy’s fault and to stop blaming herself. Amy says that there is one thing she can do to help fight for her daughter and she hopes Melinda can help her with it.

Holly tells Tate that she’s ready to get her life back on track, starting with her internship. Tate asks about it being on hold with Stephanie. Holly says she took a pause with everything that happened, but she hoped to set up a meeting to get it going again. Holly mentions being excited to start working and making money. Tate is hoping to get some calls from the flyers they posted for a personal trainer. Holly encourages that his business will get going soon. Tate says it better since he just spent all his money on a lease for a new space. Tate adds that if he’s going to make this a job, he’s going to need some real clients. Holly then suggests herself.

Alex picks up the gun and unloads it as he checks on Joy. Joy says she’s fine, no thanks to Stephanie. Alex asks Stephanie what the hell happened. Stephanie explains that she was asleep and heard the door opening, then she saw it wasn’t Alex and thought it was an intruder. Joy argues that it’s not like she was coming through the window. Stephanie cries that she’s sorry. Alex asks where Kelsey is. Joy says she’s thankfully at the Pub with a friend. Alex asks if Joy is sure she’s not hurt. Joy confirms she’s not physically, but points out the bullet hole in the wall and says that could’ve been her head.

Jada brings Shawn home and says she’s glad he decided to stay as she likes having him there. As they prepare to enter Jada’s apartment, they see the bullet on the floor from Alex and Stephanie’s apartment, so they pull their guns and approach their door.

Gwen tells Leo that things were going so well until she got in to it with EJ. Leo says he remains deeply concerned for her safety and asks what happened with EJ. Gwen explains that EJ told her that Xander and Kristen were sleeping together. Leo calls that juicy but Gwen says that’s not the appropriate response and warns him not to print it. Leo asks why she keeps telling him stories that he can’t report. Gwen says he can’t do anything with it because it’s not true, or at least she thinks it’s not true.

Amy tells Melinda that she needs a lawyer who is not going to back down. Melinda reminds her that the district attorney declined to press charges against Holly. Amy calls that outrageous since it was Holly’s vicious cyber bullying that led Sophia to the pier. Melinda says she’s been in her shoes in wanting the person responsible for her daughter’s death to pay. Melinda talks about getting her job back as district attorney and making it her mission to make Kristen pay as she wanted to see her behind bars, but nothing could ease her pain because nothing could bring Haley back. Melinda says she may never know if Kristen’s actions were intentional or accidental, but she realized fighting that battle would never fill the hole in her heart. Melinda adds that through time and forgiveness, she was able to move forward with her life. Amy responds that she’s working on accepting that Sophia is gone, but she will never accept Holly getting away scot free. Amy calls Holly a heartless bully who pushed Sophia to the point of feeling so hopeless and alone. Melinda wishes Sophia knew she had other choices. Amy cries that she had no body to bury and never got to say a proper goodbye. Amy declares that everyone has given up on her child and asks Melinda not to give up too and to help her fight to get justice for her daughter.

Tate questions Holly wanting to be his client. Holly says that Sarah said exercise would be good for her health and she’d get to spend time with him too. They kiss and joke about being competitive. Tate repeats that he loves seeing her like this. Holly mentions having an appointment with Dr. Fuller tomorrow as they leave the town square together.

Shawn and Jada enter Alex and Stephanie’s apartment to find out what happened. Shawn tells Joy that he wants to take her statement, so Jada takes Stephane in to her room. Shawn then asks Joy to take her time and tell him what happened. Joy explains that she came earlier to get a stuffed animal that her daughter left behind and then Alex gave her a key in case it ever happened again, adding that Stephanie saw him give it to her. Joy continues that she and Kelsey went to the Pub but she realized that she didn’t have her phone, so she retraced her steps here and knocked loudly several times but nobody answered, so she thought nobody was home and used her key, then the next thing she knows, she’s dodging bullets.

Stephanie tells Jada that she can’t believe she made such a terrible mistake. Jada points out that it was inches away from being a horrific tragedy and guesses her gun wasn’t stored properly which Stephanie admits. Stephanie says she gets now why it’s so important to store the gun away from the ammo. Jada states that if she had done that, she would’ve had enough time to see the person entering her apartment wasn’t a threat. Jada adds that she knows Steve taught her all of this and how to be safe. Stephanie complains that she still didn’t feel safe, so she kept the gun loaded in the drawer of the end table. Jada points out how dangerous that is while Stephanie argues that it felt more dangerous to not have it ready the second that she needed it. Stephanie says she wanted to feel able to defend herself but instead, she panicked as soon as the door opened. Jada asks who she thought it was. Stephanie says she just knew it wasn’t Alex and then thought it was Owen and she would not let him hurt her again, so she just pulled the trigger. Stephanie asks Jada what is going to happen now.

Tate brings Holly to his new gym space that he bought. They talk about potential names for the gym. Holly suggests he show her some moves.

Melinda tells Amy that she feels for her, but she agrees that there’s not enough evidence to file criminal charges against Holly and if she did, the trial would be agonizing and likely not lead to a satisfying conclusion. Amy wants to file a civil suit because she wants Holly to stand up in court to take responsibility for the harm she caused. Amy wants Holly to swear to God and everyone that she will never do what she did to Sophia to anyone else. Amy declares that she hopes to accomplish making the world safe from Holly Jonas.

Gwen explains to Leo that since she’s trying to buy the hospital from EJ, he tried to retaliate and so she marched right over to the Salem Inn where she found Xander and Kristen just having a business meeting. Leo reminds her how they bumped in to Kristen in the Salem Inn the other day and maybe she was doing business with Xander. Leo points out that if they were doing business, Xander has an office. Gwen explains that Kristen said they wanted to keep things on the down low because of the issues between Titan and DiMera which seemed plausible to her.

Shawn tells Alex that he will get his statement next. Alex responds that he’s not trying to downplay what happened but it was just one bullet and it went through the wall. Joy argues that the one bullet could’ve killed her and that Stephanie pulled the trigger without even seeing her or knowing who it was. Alex argues that they have no way of knowing that Stephanie meant to or what she was thinking. Alex goes over how Stephanie just got a 15 hour flight from China, was exhausted and took a sleeping pill so she was disoriented and confused. Joy shouts that it doesn’t mean a thing and asks what if Kelsey had been with her when the bullet came flying at her head. Alex doesn’t want to think about it. Joy says he needs to because his daughter could have died.

Jada says she knows Stephanie has been through Hell and the fear she’s living with is real. Stephanie responds that she just wants to feel safe. Jada states that what happened is extremely serious and that she and Joy are both incredibly lucky. Stephanie is thankful she didn’t hurt her. Jada points out that Stephanie pulled a gun on an innocent person and fired it, so that can’t be brushed aside. Stephanie asks if she’s going to arrest her.

Gwen tells Leo that she believes it because Kristen is her friend and Xander is her lover. Gwen adds that she has no delusions that Xander has feelings for her, but says if it was true, she would rip their eyes out. Leo wonders where Joy is as it’s taking her a long time to find her phone while Kelsey needs a diaper change. Gwen takes that as her cue to go. Leo reminds Gwen to not let EJ mess with her head, to watch her back and be careful. Gwen says that’s the plan as she exits the Pub.

Tate has Holly begin stretching to start her work out and they end up kissing.

Shawn tells Joy that she can go now and he’ll be in touch if he has more questions. Alex asks if Stephanie is going to be charged with anything. Shawn responds that it’s not his call. Joy argues that Stephanie shot at her and they can’t pretend that didn’t happen. Alex understands she’s upset and scared, but argues that nobody was hurt. Joy complains that she almost died. Joy says she can’t do this as she needs to get back to Kelsey since all she can think about is how lucky she is to be there. Alex offers her a ride. Joy says she’s fine but Alex argues that she’s in no condition to drive. Joy gives in but warns Alex not to talk to her in the car. Shawn wishes them luck as they exit.

Jada tells Stephanie that she’s not arresting her right now, but there has to be a full investigation. Jada warns Stephanie to be careful and think about what she wants to say. Stephanie says that everything is fuzzy and she actually doesn’t know. Jada says they will go over her statement and Joy’s, then go from there. Stephanie says that none of this feels real as it’s like a nightmare or she’s losing her mind. Stephanie knows Owen is in prison but she still thought in that moment. Stephanie asks Jada about taking the gun. Jada says that she and Shawn have to. Stephanie says that’s good because she doesn’t want it here. Stephanie thought the gun was the answer and that she’d finally have her power back, but it just made it worse. Stephanie cries that she thought she was getting better.

Tate and Holly kiss until realizing they forgot to lock the door as Gwen walks in. Tate greets her and asks how he can help her. Gwen asks where to sign up for self defense training.

Jada comes out of the bedroom and tells Shawn that Stephanie is a total wreck. Shawn says Joy is too and that Alex gave her a ride back to the Pub. Shawn calls this a mess. Stephanie comes in, so Shawn asks how she’s feeling. Stephanie responds that she did something really reckless and irresponsible. Shawn says they will get to the bottom of this and find out what happened. Stephanie knows he has to follow the rules, so she doesn’t expect any special treatment. Stephanie asks where Alex is. Shawn informs her that he took Joy back to the Pub to be with Kelsey. Jada asks if there’s anything they can do. Stephanie thought she knew how to feel safe, but now she doesn’t know anything anymore.

Alex brings Joy back to the Pub where Leo says Kelsey was a dream. Leo asks Joy what happened and why she looks like hell. Joy explains that Stephanie pulled out her gun and almost shot her. Alex calls it an accident. Joy disagrees, arguing that Stephanie barely missed. Leo asks for more details. Joy explains that she was looking for her phone and ended up back at Alex’s apartment, where Stephanie used her for target practice. Leo calls it quite the story. Alex warns him not to print it and asks to speak to Joy. Joy says she needs time to think this through. Alex asks Joy not to rush to any decision and to call him if she needs anything. Joy says right now, she just needs to be with her daughter.

Gwen tells Tate that she’s very interested in signing up for his self defense classes, so Holly leaves to let them talk. Tate tells Gwen that he’s excited because he wasn’t expecting to get any paying clients today. Gwen realizes she would be his first client and asks what she wins.

Shawn tells Stephanie that they will be across the hall if she needs anything from them. Alex comes home, so Stephanie asks how Joy is. Alex says she’s shaken up but okay and just needed to be with Kelsey. Shawn repeats to Alex that they are right across the hall if they need anything. Jada tells Stephanie they will talk soon and to hang in there as she hugs her. Shawn tells Alex the same as he and Jada then exit.

Tate offers Gwen a free in take session which Gwen accepts. Tate asks if she has any previous experience with self defense. Gwen tells him that she does with street fighting. Tate asks what her goals are. Gwen responds that it’s to make sure EJ DiMera doesn’t murder her as she puts on gloves and punches the punching bag, impressing Tate.

In the hall, Jada tells Shawn that she feels so awful for Stephanie and worries about if she has to arrest her best friend. Shawn says they will hope it doesn’t come to that.

Leo asks Joy about Stephanie almost shooting her and how it must have been terrifying. Leo encourages that Joy and Kelsey are safe and okay now. Joy says they are this time. Joy declares that she doesn’t care if Stephanie is Alex’s wife, she doesn’t want her near her child ever again.

Alex and Stephanie go to their bedroom as Stephanie asks what Joy said. Alex says not much. Stephanie tells him that she’s so sorry. Alex doesn’t want to think about it right now as she’s exhausted. Alex suggests she lay down and rest, so Alex holds her in bed.

Holly runs in to Amy in the town square. Amy tells her to save her fake sympathy as she’s sure Holly and Tate have been celebrating the district attorney’s decision not to bring charges against her. Amy warns Holly that this is not even close to over as she walks away.

by Michele & Cheryl

The writers honored Deidre Hall’s 50-year anniversary. She was on the show for a long time so it made sense to honor her. The writers found a way to show the flashbacks by having her tell the story to Paul. It allowed the viewers to learn her story with flashbacks. We got a chance to see scenes that we didn’t see before. The writers did an excellent job including scenes with Samantha, Mickey, Don, and the baby she lost. We were moved to see her reaction to losing her baby. She talked about her time with Roman. The flashbacks were from the time Drake Hogestyn played him, but they didn’t forget her time with him. We thought the scenes would be boring, but they were good.

EJ found out the truth about Kristen getting Sophia to kill Johnny. Kristen kept walking around like she was untouchable so she needed a fall from grace. EJ yelled at her for what she did to Johnny. We were glued to our seats while he screamed at her. EJ needs to go after her because she shouldn’t have tried to kill Johnny. Johnny had nothing to do with what happened to Rachel. Rachel was committed because of her actions so Kristen didn’t have to go after Johnny. Sophia could have killed everyone in the building because of Kristen.

Are we the only ones who don’t care about what happened to Destiny? We don’t want anyone to die, but we couldn’t care less about Destiny, or her sister. The writers shouldn’t force a story where there isn’t one. We feel like we could speak for the viewers when we say that it’s a story they need to wrap up quickly. The writers are breaking a major rule by forcing a new character down our throats. They are talking about a character that we don’t know anything about and making her overdose a major thing. The story is fast-forward material. They can add different characters in the story, and it will be a boring story. For some reason, the writers are trying to make it seem like EJ is the one behind the overdoses in Salem. Kristen was in charge of the company when the drugs were given out so she is the one who should get caught for it.

Speaking of EJ, Johnny doesn’t have any loyalty to his father. It didn’t take long for Johnny to turn on his father. He was too willing to go behind EJ’s back and investigate him because Brady and Steve wanted him to do it. If the shoe were on the other foot, he would be upset if EJ went behind his back and questioned him.

We’re torn about Theo’s outburst on Gabi. Gabi apologized to him for accusing him of telling her secret to Philip. He clearly expected her to walk on broken glass before she would forgive her. Theo yelled at her for everything that happened. She tried to explain why she acted the way she did, but he wouldn’t listen to her. Theo didn’t have to be so bitter towards her. It was painful to watch them. On the other hand, Gabi blew any chance of them getting along when she told him that she was giving her inheritance to Titan. What made her think that he would be happy about that? The families are feuding so he wouldn’t want her to give the money away.

Speaking of Gabi, she found out the hard way that her money can’t buy everything. She paid Liam to go away and she quickly regretted it. Arianna ripped into her for trying to run her life. We get that Gabi wanted to protect her daughter, but she didn’t have the right to pay him to stay away from her daughter. Gabi needs to stop throwing her weight around because she’s not the boss that she thinks she is. Her daughter knocked her down to size when she found out the truth.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Xander and Philip tried to figure out who paid off the Titan loan. They wondered if Gabi, Maggie, or one of the other businesses paid it off. Xander wondered if Philip was behind it. While they were talking, Xander got a call from one of his financial people and found out that the bank sold their loan to ARO Wealth Management. They didn’t know who that was. Xander told Philip to figure it out because he had to handle something. Lexie’s hand started to shake while she was cleaning up. When Abe walked in, she hid it. He told her about Chanel’s cancer and chemo. Lexie empathized with Chanel. Abe talked to her about Paulina not shutting down her resurrection. He told her that he should be with Chanel. Lexie agreed with him and told him she loved him for wanting to support Chanel. Later on, Lexie went to see Dr. Rolf. He gave her another dose. Lexie said that her symptoms were back and worse than before. She said she didn’t care what it took because she wasn’t letting go of her life after she got it back.

Gwen went to the DiMera mansion and found Kristen upset over EJ visiting Rachel. Kristen told a confused Gwen that EJ could hurt her through Rachel. Gwen told Kristen that she was taking the hospital from EJ. Paulina and Johnny were there for Chanel as she started chemo. When Johnny left to get her something to drink, Chanel told Paulina that everyone was making her feel like a sad version of herself. She asked Paulina what was going on with her and Lexie. Paulina said the situation was a mess, but she would be fine. Abe showed up with some tea for Chanel. He let them know that he was thinking about both of them. Paulina left to find Johnny. Abe apologized to Chanel for everything happening at once. EJ ran into Johnny at the hospital and wanted to talk to him about the coriseal. He said the issue with the coriseal wasn’t his fault. EJ said he told the head of pharmaceuticals to handle the situation. He said what happened after that wasn’t his fault. Johnny was upset when he realized they were talking about arsenic and Holly being at the hospital. He asked EJ if Holly being sick was his fault. EJ said it wasn’t his fault, but if it was left untreated, Holly could die. He told Johnny he would do everything he could to save Holly. He said he needed Johnny to lie to Sarah and everyone else to get them to leave DiMera alone until he figured out what to do. Johnny walked away from him. The dose Dr. Rolf gave Lexie didn’t work. He realized nothing was working for Lexie. EJ went to see Dr. Rolf and found out what was going on. He told Dr. Rolf to fix if. Dr. Rolf said there was nothing he could do. He told EJ that Lexie had months to live.

Arianna and Tate were in Holly’s room and talked about what happened at the cabin. They realized that she was only drinking tap water. No one brought water with them. Brady brought Sarah dinner and coffee, but Sarah didn’t want to take a break until she could figure out what happened to Holly. It was going to be hard for Sarah to help her because she didn’t know what was wrong with Holly. Brady tried to figure things out the way his father would. They were struggling to figure out what happened until Tate arrived and told them about his theory about the water. Brady wanted to follow the lead so he headed to the cabin to get a water sample. Julie arrived at the hospital to visit Holly. She assured Holly that they would find out what happened to her. Tate arrived an told them about the poison water theory. He thought the well water could be contaminated. Julie was shocked by that theory. She said that she had the water tested every season, and the water came out perfectly. Sarah walked in the room, and Julie said she was going to get the results from the last test. Brady went to the cabin and filled a vial with water. Someone watched Brady from the window. Later Brady went back to the hospital to give Sarah the sample. They hoped that they got the results in time.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Joy brings Kelsey to the Brady Pub as she’s looking for Kelsey’s stuffed animal. Leo comes in and is surprised to see Joy, noting he hasn’t seen her since the Body and Soul wrap party. Leo mentions being a reporter now so he has heard about Kelsey and guesses congratulations are in order for her and Alex.

Alex comes home from going on a run and is thrilled to Stephanie is home as they kiss.

EJ warns Gabi that he could drag this out for decades and suggests they settle this now. Gabi argues that EJ would never offer to settle unless he knew he was going to lose, so she’ll see him in court. Gabi turns to leave, but stops when she and EJ both see Xander and Kristen together as Kristen slips her key card to Xander. Gabi and EJ turn away as Kristen heads in to the Salem Inn. Gabi asks if EJ saw what she saw. EJ calls it hard to miss. They turn back around to see Xander following in to the Salem Inn. Gabi calls Xander a slimeball and wonders if Gwen has any idea that he’s cheating on her.

Gwen walks past the Brady Pub while finishing a phone call. She then gets a text from Dimitri, saying he hopes she’s enjoying his money while it lasts because every day he’s getting closer to the truth and when it comes out, it will be game over for her.

Stephanie tells Alex that she took an earlier flight home because she missed him as they kiss. Alex asks about the wedding. Stephanie tells him how great it was and how much she loved it. Alex praises the photos she took and tells her how much he missed her as well and how happy he is to have her home.

Joy and Leo say it was nice to see each other as Joy exits the Pub and then Gwen enters. Leo hugs Gwen, saying he’s so relieved to see her as he kept having visions of being interviewed by Dateline about the last time he saw her alive. Gwen tells Leo that he can relax because she has an upper hand on EJ once and for all.

EJ questions Gabi as to how Xander is cheating on Gwen when he believed they were in an open situationship. Gabi tells EJ that Gwen and Kristen are friends which means this is a betrayal of the highest order and a violation of girl code. EJ tells Gabi that it must be her duty to inform Gwen of this betrayal then.

Xander and Kristen go to her room at the Salem Inn and begin kissing onto the bed until Xander hurts his injured elbow and says he has to stop. Kristen questions if he’s going to let a little elbow pain keep him from this. Xander says it’s too risky. Kristen says she’ll be gentle as she continues kissing him and says she’ll do all the heavy lifting.

Leo tells Gwen that he knows she’s cunning and crafty, but warns that EJ is next level with resources, minions, crooked doctors, and Rita. Gwen says that’s where Leo comes in as her insurance policy. Leo thinks he deserves to know all the details and questions how exactly she plans to get the upper hand on EJ. Gwen responds that she’s simply going to buy the hospital right out from under EJ.

Gabi tells EJ that there is no way she’s telling Gwen about this. EJ thinks Gwen deserves to know that she’s being played for a fool by Xander and Kristen. EJ adds that maybe if they throw Gwen a bone, she’ll quit harassing him. Gabi realizes EJ is just trying to use her to get Gwen off his back and tells him to forget it. Gwen says she has a shipping contract with Titan and since she and Philip are no longer speaking, Xander is her go-to so she’s not going to muddy the waters. EJ mocks her practicing discretion. Gabi says that Gwen’s a smart woman so she will figure it out eventually and all hell will break loose as Xander and Kristen just set off a major storm that they are in the middle of. EJ tries to bring up the settlement again but Gabi walks away.

Xander tells Kristen that he appreciates her attention to detail as they continue kissing. Xander wishes he could return the favor but says he needs his elbow to heal so he can pick up his daughter again. Kristen understands that his daughter is his priority.

Gabi runs in to Javi with Trey in the town square and they embrace with Gabi telling him how happy she is that he’s back.

Alex and Stephanie kiss onto the couch until they are interrupted by Joy arriving with Kelsey at the door. Alex answers the door as Joy tells him that everything is not okay.

Javi tells Gabi that Johnny and Chanel finally took him up on babysitting Trey. They talk about Javi being Trey’s first family and bringing back good memories. Javi admits it’s bringing back sad ones as well.

Gwen tells Leo that EJ only bought the hospital as a smoke screen to perfect his miracle cure, but now the board is incensed which allows her to get her revenge. Leo doesn’t know if it’s a good idea for her to poke the bear like this, warning that it could backfire big time and that EJ has more than tricks up his sleeve. Gwen points out that even Mike Tyson hit the canvas eventually and she’s just taking advantage. Leo says he’s on her team but questions what she would know about running a hospital. Gwen says it’s not like she’s gearing up for a heart transplant, she’ll just walk around, sign papers, and look important. Gwen adds that the Bradys and Hortons will run the place anyway. Leo then guesses that doing this will put her in a new light with Jack’s family, so she’d be a savior. Gwen calls that another fabulous benefit. Leo hopes she uses the endeavor for good. Gwen assures that she would and she’s insulted that he would think otherwise. Gwen declares that unlike EJ, she cares and will give the staff the space to do what they need to do. Gwen then admits there is a dark cloud over all of this and that’s Dimitri. Gwen complains that every day Dimitri is tormenting her from afar and sending threatening texts, saying he’s going to get his revenge on her for kidnapping him. Leo states that if she’s innocent, there’s nothing to worry about. Gwen says she just wants to move on with her life and that she has to go now. Leo asks her to keep him posted and to stay alive. Gwen responds that surviving is her specialty as she exits the Pub.

Joy apologizes to Alex for stopping by without calling and explains that she misplaced Kelsey’s favorite stuffed animal, so she was hoping maybe she left it there. Stephanie returns it to her so Joy gives it to Kelsey which stops her crying. Joy says they should get going since Stephanie is probably jet lagged which she confirms. Alex decides they should just get Joy a key in case Kelsey leaves something behind again. Stephanie says it’s no problem, so Alex gives Joy a key. Joy assures she won’t use it without their knowledge and tells them to enjoy the rest of their day as she exits with Kelsey. Alex wants to continue where they left off but Stephanie is tired from the jet lag and says she’s going to lay down. Alex guesses it’s not just the jet lag.

EJ is on the phone, saying he understands the hospital board is upset but reminds them that he saved the hospital from bankruptcy. EJ angrily hangs up and then runs in to Gwen. EJ hoped they could talk about Gwen threatening to purchase the hospital, which he calls ridiculous because it’s not for sale. Gwen tells him that the board doesn’t share his sentiment. EJ questions when Gwen became so disagreeable as he thought they were allies. Gwen argues that he burned their alliance when he swept her contribution under the rug. EJ argues that her contribution was always meant to be under the rug and her revenge plot reeks of desperation. Gwen calls that rich coming from him. EJ doesn’t want to bicker and says they are in this together. Gwen says they are in more ways than one because Dimitri is a thorn in her side and is claiming that he’s going to prove she had him kidnapped. Gabi advises Javi not to let the bad memories linger and to move on. Javi assures that he’s trying. Gabi then looks over and sees EJ and Gwen talking. EJ tells Gwen that she shouldn’t worry about Dimitri but Gwen says that Dimitri is not letting up, warning that if he finds out she had him kidnapped, he will find out about EJ too which means they are both going down. Gwen warns that kidnapping is a felony which means getting locked up.

Xander tells Kristen that he and Sarah both care greatly about Rachel and he’s not proud of stealing Rachel from her which he calls unforgivable. Xander understands the agony she must have felt going to prison. Kristen says now she’s lost her daughter to Bayview. Xander asks how she’s doing. Kristen says she has her good days and bad days, but mostly bad. Kristen calls it a nightmare and wishes she could take Rachel out of Bayview. Xander asks why she can’t just have her discharged against medical advice.

EJ angrily tells Gwen that this is all her fault since if she hadn’t sprung Dimitri out of captivity to spoil Leo’s marriage, none of this would be happening. Gwen brings up Dr. Rolf hiring a pervert to kidnap Stephanie. EJ argues that he had no idea Dr. Rolf would do that while Gwen knew what she was doing and lacks foresight. EJ brings up Xander and says that Gwen is clueless. EJ then reveals to Gwen that Kristen is having a torrid affair with Xander. Gwen accuses him of lying. EJ tells her that they are doing the deed and if she doesn’t believe him, she can go see for herself as they wandered in to the Salem Inn just a short while ago, so if she goes now, she can probably catch them. Gwen then races in to the Salem Inn which EJ laughs at.

Stephanie tells Alex that she’s exhausted and that’s all this is. Stephanie insist that she’s not upset about Alex giving Joy a key to their place as there likely will be plenty of times that things get left behind. Stephanie asks how his first visit with Kelsey went while she was away. Alex says it went well. Stephanie says she’s glad and guesses the next step is a visit with her. Alex says only if she’s ready for that and if not, Joy offered her place but Stephanie wants it to happen here with them and without Joy. Alex agrees to set it up then.

Joy returns to the Pub with Kelsey and tells Leo about finding the stuffed animal. Joy then realizes she dropped her phone when getting out of her car. Leo offers to watch Kelsey. Joy thanks him and promises she’ll be right back as she exits.

Javi tells Gabi that Gus really likes her too. Gabi praises him and says he’s nothing like Leo which is a huge plus. Javi agrees and says there’s something easy, simple, and steady about being with him with no games. Gabi relates that her and Philip were really good together like that. Javi says he’s sorry. Javi thanks her for Gus’s extended stay. Gabi says she loves seeing him happy. Javi then informs her that he has one more favor to ask.

Kristen appreciates Xander advocating for Rachel to get out of Bayview but says it’s not that simple. Kristen says she’s sure he knows about estranged parents having to make a decision for their child. Kristen declares that the bottom line is that it’s all EJ’s fault since Rachel’s downward spiral began when EJ allowed Rachel to witness her mother going to prison. Xander says if someone wanted to hurt Victoria, he’d want them dead too. They are then interrupted by Gwen banging on the door, shouting that she knows Xander is in there and to open the door which shocks Xander as he and Kristen try to remain quiet.

Javi tells Gabi he has to get going and thanks her for everything as he walks away. EJ comes back over. Gabi tells him if he wants a settlement, he’s wasting their time and can talk to her attorney. Gabi adds that she saw him talking to Gwen and asks if he told her about Kristen and Xander. EJ admits it may have slipped out. Gabi questions why he would do that and what is wrong with him. EJ responds that when his sister is bedding Xander, he makes it his business.

Kristen answers the door to see Gwen and talks about her being so forceful and determined as she invites her in. Xander greets Gwen and asks what she’s doing there. Gwen responds that she lives there and questions what they are doing. Kristen claims they were just having a meeting and because of the legal battle between Titan and DiMera, they thought it was best to keep it on the down low but that isn’t happening since Gwen obviously got wind of it. Xander asks how Gwen knew they were there. Gwen admits that EJ said he saw them come in together. Kristen and Xander claim that EJ must have been trying to turn it in to something it isn’t in order to hurt Gwen. Gwen apologizes and says she feels so embarrassed. Kristen tells her that EJ is the one who should be sorry. Kristen then tells Gwen that she does have the room reserved for the afternoon for another matter, making Gwen believe she’ll be seeing a different guy so Gwen says good for her.

Stephanie takes sleeping pills while Alex tells Stephanie that he will let her rest and says he will stop by the grocery store and prepare them a Greek dinner. Alex says he’ll see her soon as he exits while Stephanie lays down to sleep on the couch.

Leo watches Kelsey at the Pub as Javi arrives with Trey. Leo tells Javi that he’s watching Kelsey while Joy went to look for her phone. Javi explains that he has been offering his services to Johnny and Chanel and they finally took him up on it. Leo informs Javi that Kelsey is Joy and Alex’s baby. Javi remembers Joy from Body and Soul but didn’t realize she and Alex were ever in a relationship. Leo clarifies that they weren’t, but they managed to make a baby. Leo and Javi watch over the babies together, then Javi begins talking about wanting Trey to meet his new boyfriend Gus which annoys Leo. Leo comments that he should introduce him before Gus goes back to Texas. Javi then reveals that Gus isn’t going back because he got hired at the fire department here in Salem.

Gwen decides she should let Kristen and Xander get back to their business and apologizes again for the intrusion as she then exits. Xander tells Kristen that was too close. Kristen says he’s lucky. Xander agrees that the last thing he needs is for Sarah to find out, let alone Gwen. Kristen points out that other than Lani, Gwen is her only other friend in town and that almost got blown up because of her stupid son of a bitch brother. Kristen remarks that EJ throws grenades like it’s his birthright, but she’s just going to throw them right back at him.

Gabi questions EJ making Xander and Kristen his business and what that even means. EJ responds that he’s going to have to have eyes in the back of his head living in his own home. Gabi recalls how creepy it was living in the DiMera Mansion. EJ invites Gabi to move back in now that Philip kicked her to the curb but Gabi declines. EJ says at least he offered. EJ adds that he knows breakups can be hard, but he’d be happy to do whatever he can to help her forget all about Philip. Gabi remarks that she’s going to lose her lunch. EJ reminds her that they made quite the pair once. Gabi says all she recalls is hating him with a vengeance. Gabi calls EJ a dog and walks away.

Stephanie is asleep on the couch as Joy arrives knocking on the door. Stephanie doesn’t answer as she slowly starts to wake up. Joy then pulls out her key to open the door herself. Stephanie wakes up in a dazed panic and grabs her gun from the drawer. Stephanie then fires the gun as Joy opens the door.

Update written by Joseph

Brady meets Sarah outside the Brady Pub. Sarah apologizes for being too wiped out to hang out last night but is glad he was free this morning as she kisses him. Brady says he was intrigued by her text about getting to the bottom of a mystery. Sarah knows Brady isn’t officially a private investigator yet, but asks if he would help her.

Xander goes to Titan and asks Philip what the hell is wrong with him for saying no to Gabi offering him part of her inheritance. Philip responds that he can’t take anything from Gabi after what she did to him. Xander declares that he can and he told Gabi that he will.

At the Brady Pub, Kate texts Xander, asking if he’s told Johnny already and asks him not to do this. Roman comes over and asks who she’s texting. Kate claims she wasn’t texting, but shopping. Roman notes that she seems tense and asks if something is on her mind. Kate says she’s just been thinking about Abe and Paulina. Roman says he’s happy for Abe, but calls it a tough spot to be in. Kate notes that Paulina and Abe were happily married for almost four years. Roman states that Lexie is the love of Abe’s life, but sometimes if you’re really lucky, you get more than one. Roman then heads to the back for a delivery. Gabi and Arianna sit together a table nearby. Ari talks about enjoying her internship at DiMera but says she’ll be sad to see Johnny go as he’s stepping down as CEO. Gabi mentions that Tony did say he wanted him out. Ari questions how she knows that. Gabi then reveals that Tony offered her the job, but she turned it down. Ari asks why. Gabi says she has a whole lot of reasons and she’s happy with Gabi Chic while she has zero interest in working with the DiMeras again. Gabi admits that she didn’t love the idea of being her boyfriend’s biggest business rival. Ari asks about now that Philip isn’t her boyfriend anymore. Gabi says it doesn’t change anything and that it’s best to leave well enough alone. Kate comes by and says that’s one thing they can agree on.

Lexie goes to the DiMera Mansion where she’s greeted by Kristen, who hugs her and asks how she is. Lexie responds that she’s very blessed and grateful for every day that she is back home with her family.

EJ startles Dr. Rolf in his lab and demands answers about his concerning news regarding the dead rat and asks if he died as a side effect of their miracle drug. Dr. Rolf admits he’s afraid it’s possible. EJ complains that Dr. Rolf suspected it was natural causes, so he asks what the hell happened. Dr. Rolf explains that it could’ve been, but another rat is now showing signs of disorientation and diminished capabilities. EJ guesses he thinks that Lexie might be next.

Lexie tells Kristen that she’s been using Theo’s tablet to read articles and try to catch up on everything she missed. Kristen guesses she caught up on the family since they are always in the headlines. Lexie brings up Kristen going to prison for confessing to shooting EJ. Kristen says that he deserved it. Lexie states that she’s glad he survived, otherwise she wouldn’t be here. Lexie adds that she also read about the kidnappings and Peter. Lexie can’t imagine how heartbreaking that must have been and tells Kristen that she’s sorry. Kristen appreciates it but says she’s not one to have a pity party, adding that she’s plotting her next move.

Gabi tells Kate that she didn’t ask for her opinion and doesn’t want a lecture. Kate thinks a lecture would be generous after what she did to her son and calls her a bitch. Arianna interrupts and asks if they need to take this outside. Ari tells Kate that she knows Gabi said she did something selfish but she also said she regrets it. Gabi tells Kate that what she did was underhanded and opportunistic as she put her career against her morals and wishes she could take it back and be honest from the beginning, but she can’t and what’s done is done, so it’s too late to fix things. Kate says that’s true and she’s made her realize there’s something she needs to fix before it’s too late as she walks away. Arianna wonders what that was about. Gabi says she has no idea.

Brady asks Sarah how he can help. Sarah informs him that she lost a patient yesterday, explaining that she was in her mid 20s named Destiny Rowland and she came in with a headache, dizziness, and nausea. Sarah says she ran tests and did bloodwork and thought it was just a virus that would run it’s course, so she told her to go home and rest but a few hours later she was dead. Brady questions what happened. Sarah admits she’s not sure. Sarah says she left the hospital unhappy with her for not doing more to help her and then she ran in to her in the town square, where she collapsed. Sarah adds that they rushed her to the ER but it was too late. Sarah declares there was something and she missed it. Brady says he’s sorry that happened and asks why she didn’t call him. Sarah says she was wiped. Brady says he’s here now and hugs her.

Philip questions Xander accepting money from Gabi behind his back when he thought they were a team. Xander says he thought so too but points out that Philip turned down a massive amount of money that could save the company without even consulting him. Philip argues that to Xander it might be free money, but for him it would cost him his dignity after Gabi lied to him and used him. Xander admits he’s not happy with her either but tells him not to think of it as Gabi money, but as DiMera money and they put them in this mess. Philip argues that they both know the reason they are in this mess is him and his fraud. Xander urges him to think of all the people who will be affected if the company goes belly up. Philip agrees that it shouldn’t be his call but warns that if he takes Gabi’s money, he can’t be a part of it, so he would have to quit. Xander argues that he can’t quit. Philip says that he can and he will as he thinks it would be for the best. Xander tells him that after everything he did to get the CEO chair, he’s not walking away now. Kate arrives which Xander calls perfect timing as he asks her to talk some sense in to Philip, who is threatening to quit Titan, which shocks Kate.

Arianna congratulates Gabi again on getting a piece of Stefan’s fortune. Gabi says it’s not a done deal yet. Ari says it will be and then she’ll never have to work again. Gabi says she will continue working because she loves what she does. Gabi says it’s about more than money, it’s about feeling powerful, capable and confident. Ari asks even if that means stepping over the man she loves to get ahead. Ari questions if she feels so confident and capable, why did she feel the need to lie and scheme. Gabi says that’s a good question.

Kristen apologizes to Lexie for not visiting sooner. Lexie says it’s okay and understands it’s all a bit spooky. Lexie mentions hearing Kristen thought she was an impostor at first. Kristen guesses she was wrong and despite her reservations about EJ’s intentions, she’s happy he succeeded because she has her sister back. Kristen jokes that there’s way too much testosterone in the family.

EJ complains that this is a disaster. Dr. Rolf tells him to calm down as they don’t know if there’s a problem yet. EJ argues that he knows damn well it doesn’t bode well for Lexie. Dr. Rolf points out that her blood work and vitals have been perfect so far. Dr. Rolf tells EJ not to worry because they will still be able to sell the drug. EJ tells him that it’s not just about profits. EJ declares that they fulfilled Stefano’s final wish by bringing Lexie back to the land of the living and he wants her to stay. EJ says this is why they needed to stay in control because Lexie wasn’t supposed to be reintroduced until they were satisfied with everything. Dr. Rolf urges him to stay positive.

Brady asks Sarah how he can help her. Sarah says she went down a rabbit hole in Destiny’s medical records, trying to find an explanation as to what happened and it turns out she had an older sister Clea who died under similar circumstances two years ago and the autopsy said the cause was indeterminate. Sarah says it could be a coincidence and that JJ did say Destiny had multiple arrests for narcotics, but she examined her and she didn’t show any signs of being high. Sarah tells Brady that something just doesn’t feel right. Brady guesses she’s thinking foul play. Sarah responds that she’s not ruling anything out.

Gabi tells Arianna that she is far from perfect and she’s taken a lot of hits learning from her mistakes, so she’s not done yet. Arianna says it sounds like she didn’t only lose a relationship, but a friendship too. Ari asks if she ever found out why Theo ratted her out. Gabi reveals that it wasn’t him, which would’ve been good for their friendship if she didn’t already tear his head off for it. Ari asks who it was if it wasn’t Theo. Gabi says that Philip wouldn’t tell her but by process of elimination, it had to be Tony. Ari says she’s not surprised it wasn’t Theo since he’s like the most honest guy she knows. Ari assumes that Gabi apologized to Theo. Gabi confirms she apologized to Theo and Philip but neither were receptive. Gabi declares that when you mess up as much as she does, you learn to swallow your pride and own up to it when you hurt people. Gabi says what she hasn’t figured out is how not to hurt people in the first place.

Xander tells Kate that Philip isn’t thinking, he just has a broken heart and doesn’t want to work with his ex. Kate says she would like nothing more than to wring Gabi’s neck but they have to focus on Victor’s legacy and he would tell Philip to get over himself. Kate says they have to stand together as one or else they’ll go down for good. Philip says he can’t. Kate tells him not to say he can’t after everything they did to protect him. Kate brings up how many people have taken personal and professional risks to keep him out of prison and keep the company running. Kate adds that she put her own marriage on the line to set Johnny up for a lawsuit so they could sue and get some money back. Philip notes that she said she had nothing to do with that. Kate admits that she lied and that Xander did too. Kate then confronts Xander about the voicemail he left her, saying he wanted to come clean about setting up her husband’s grandson. Kate says he’d be dropping a nuclear bomb on Titan and he has to be kidding. Xander asks for a moment alone with Kate so Philip wishes him luck and exits.

Brady tells Sarah that he will start pulling Destiny and her sister’s police records. Sarah repeats that she saw no signs of an overdose. She adds that Destiny did tell her she took some pills from a bottle in her medicine cabinet and mentions talking to her mom but had no luck retrieving the bottle. Brady says that Sarah has a gut feeling and he learned from his dad to always go with your gut, so that’s what they will do.

EJ tells Dr. Rolf that he needs more than the power of positive thinking. EJ asks him if Lexie could die. Dr. Rolf responds that if there is a problem, he will work night and day to solve it as he’s already begun testing to see if the second rat’s decline can be reversed. Dr. Rolf then tells EJ that he needs to bring Lexie to her for an examination ASAP.

Lexie asks Kristen if EJ is home. Kristen says he was but then went back to work. Kristen tells Lexie that EJ is only running the hospital as a front for his research. Lexie mentions hearing that he could be pushed out as owner because of what he did for her. Kristen says that they all know EJ didn’t get in to the hospital business to save lives, but to line his own pocket so she doesn’t have to feel bad. Kristen remarks that funding one miracle doesn’t change the fact that everything EJ touches eventually goes to Hell. EJ then emerges from the tunnels which Kristen calls her cue to leave. Kristen tells Lexie that it was lovely seeing her as she then exits. EJ comments that Lexie is looking well. Lexie responds that looks can be deceiving and informs EJ that she thinks something’s wrong. Lexie explains that one minute everything was fine, then she felt dizzy and her knees went weak. EJ says it’s possible she’s experiencing a side effect of the drug but that doesn’t mean anything is wrong. EJ mentions that Dr. Rolf wants to examine her which Lexie agrees would be a good idea. EJ reminds her to keep it quiet because Dr. Rolf has to remain out of the public eye. Lexie says she wouldn’t want to worry Abe and Theo anyway with everything they have been through. EJ adds that hopefully there will be nothing to worry about.

Brady and Sarah enter the Pub and greet Gabi and Arianna on their way to getting a table. They sit down as Brady talks about how once he pulls Destiny’s police records, he’ll have an idea of her life, where and who she hung out with. Sarah adds that if he also looks in to her sister Clea’s records, maybe they can figure out why Destiny died. Brady agrees that maybe there’s a connection. Arianna questions Gabi not wanting to be CEO of DiMera. Gabi responds that she’s perfectly happy at Gabi Chic. Gabi then gets a phone alert that she has a meeting and apologizes for having to dash out on her again. Gabi adds that now that Ari is on summer break, they can do this all the time. They say they love each other as Gabi then exits the Pub.

Kate questions why Xander would decide to come clean after they had plausable deniability for so long and where this is coming from. Xander explains that it’s part of his therapy to take responsibility for his actions and make amends. Kate asks if it’s part of a 12 step program. Xander says he has to stay in therapy if he wants to see his daughter. Xander says Marlena asked if he set up Johnny and he tried not to answer it, but she knows and if he doesn’t tell her, she’ll drop him as a patient. Kate suggests dropping her as a therapist. Xander states that he still has to do the right thing or else he’ll be stuck in this cycle that he’s trying to change. Xander declares he will try to make it right and admit what he did, promising to try to keep Kate’s name out of it.

Roman tells Arianna that he will get her a dessert on the house. Arianna gets up to refill her coffee and overhears Brady and Sarah talking at their table as Sarah informs Brady that in Clea’s medical records, she listed her next of kin as Liam Selejko. Brady recognizes Liam as the guy who Vivian had help prepare the DiMera Crypt while Sarah adds that her family has a loose connection to him as he has a half brother named Charlie, who her sister Melissa was a stepmom to. Brady declares they should find Liam and talk to him. Sarah says that would be her logical next step, but she heard that he suddenly left town. Brady wonders why and where he went but Sarah says she doesn’t know as Arianna continues listening in. Sarah then asks Brady if he can use his private investigator skills to help her find Liam which makes Ari smile. Ari then comes over and tells them that she couldn’t help but overhear they are looking for Liam and asks them to let her know if they have any luck. Sarah asks her why. Ari explains that she and Liam know each other from the book store and she has something of his to give back to him. Brady agrees to let her know if they find him but warns Ari to be careful because he thinks Liam runs around some dangerous people. Ari says she knows and that’s why she wants to return something she has that belongs to him. Ari then asks why they are looking for Liam and if he’s in trouble. Sarah responds that she just hoped he could help her with something and asks Ari to let her know if she hears from him. Ari agrees to and goes back to her table.

EJ finds Gabi in the town square and informs her that their handwriting expert disagrees with hers and doesn’t believe Stefan’s signature was forged, which means she’s not entitled to a cent of the DiMera estate. Gabi accuses him of paying an expert to agree with him and informs him that an expert from the FBI can attest that it was forged along with a signed statement from Ivan, saying he saw Vivian sign the divorce papers. EJ questions if she’s really going to fight them on this. Gabi responds that she will fight and win. Gabi declares that as Stefan’s widow, there is no way in hell that EJ is taking what’s rightfully his.

Dr. Rolf examines Lexie in his lab and tells her that her reflexes are excellent. Dr. Rolf tests her grip strength which Lexie notes she didn’t notice was so weak. Lexie reminds him that she’s a doctor and asks if they are dealing with somethign neurological here. Lexie questions what he is not telling her.

Kate questions how Xander plans to leave her out of it when she’s the head of Titan Publishing and the one who first brought Bonnie’s manuscript to Johnny’s attention. Xander encourages Kate to be honest with her husband and tell him what she did and why before he finds out from someone else. Roman questions Xander blowing up her marriage to do his homework for his shrink, who happens to be Roman’s one that got away. Xander says he sincerely hopes that Kate and Roman can get past this. Kate says screw you to Xander and storms out of the office. Philip then returns and guesses it didn’t go great. Xander confirms Kate isn’t happy about dropping the DiMera lawsuit, but says they don’t have a choice which means they need Gabi’s money more than ever to save Titan. Philip responds that he will start cleaning out his desk then. Xander tells him to calm down and not make a kneejerk reaction. Xander asks Philip to table all the quitting talk for now.

Brady tells Sarah that he will start looking for Liam right away. Sarah wonders if he knows something about Destiny or Clea that their parents don’t know. Sarah jokes about being Brady’s first Black Patch client, but Brady says he’s not accepting any payment. Kate enters the Pub and asks Arianna if Roman is around. Ari responds that he left to run an errand and asks if Kate fixed whatever she went to fix. Kate responds that she’s trying. Ari asks if she can help her. Kate brings up things being precarious at Titan and asks Ari to keep an ear to the ground at DiMera in case she hears anything useful. Ari says she’s just an intern so she doesn’t hear much but agrees to keep an ear out, so Kate thanks her.

Dr. Rolf tells Lexie that she is the first human experiment of the miracle drug and all seemed well until recently when a couple of the lab rats began to show signs of decline. Lexie worries that the treatment could be accelerating deterioration. Lexie asks Dr. Rolf if he can help her. Dr. Rolf says that depends on how much risk she’s willing to take. Lexie responds that she’ll do anything as she just came back and isn’t giving up so soon. Lexie adds that after experiencing death, she’s gained a new appreciation for every day and moment she gets to live. She declares that Dr. Rolf gave her such a precious gift and she will not let it slip through her fingers without a fight.

Liam kissed Arianna passionately. Gabi and Aaron saw them kissing each other. She demanded to know why Liam was back in Salem and kissing her daughter. Arianna thought it was a strange thing to say. She put two and two together and realized that her mother was the reason why Liam left town. Arianna demanded to know what her mother did to chase Liam away. Liam didn’t say anything so Gabi finally admitted that she paid him to leave town. Arianna yelled at her mother for what she did until she heard about Holly being in the hospital. Rita let him know that Johnny was digging around their batch of Coriseal from two years ago and asking why the files were missing. EJ wondered why Johnny was asking questions. He thought they got rid of the problem and would do it again. Xander went through the files at DiMera Pharmaceuticals when Kristen showed up. Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

Rafe meets Cat in his office where Cat tells him that she thinks she found a way to get EJ and that he’s going to put it right in her hands.

Theo goes to the DiMera Mansion to see EJ and asks what’s going on. EJ says he just wanted to see how Lexie was feeling. Theo says she’s great. EJ asks if he’s sure. Theo says he is and asks why.

Abe and Lexie eat with Marlena at the Brady Pub. Lexie comments on Marlena looking exactly the same as she remembers. Marlena feels like she’s aged 100 years since losing John. Abe brings up yesterday being the first anniversary of his passing. Marlena tells them it was emotional, but she got what she felt was a sign and it made her feel more at peace. Lexie brings up that Stefano was able to save her from death and asks if there’s any chance. Marlena says no and that the ISA were very thorough in confirming that John is gone, so like Stefano, he will not be returning to them.

At home, Chanel finishes a call about cancelling her appointment. Johnny brings her decaf coffee as she tells him that her call was to schedule a surgery, but that is not happening. Johnny hoped that after sleeping on it, she would change her mind about not following Dr. George’s medical advice. Chanel responds that she hasn’t and she won’t.

Cat informs Rafe that she told EJ about her mother’s dementia rapidly progressing and how she’s not responding to traditional treatments. Rafe says he’s sorry to hear that. Cat says she talked to Mark about the miracle drug they used to bring Lexie back, but he said there’s no way the FDA would approve it in time to help her mom, so she went directly to EJ and brought up how both of their families directly suffered at the hands of Clyde Weston and asked if there was any way she could get the drug to her mother. Cat adds that EJ agreed to talk to Dr. Rolf and if he agreed, he would get her the drug but there would be conditions. Cat says she asked about the conditions but he had to get to a meeting. Rafe argues that they are on a mission to gather intelligence so it would be nice if she actually gathered intelligence. Cat responds that she will as soon as EJ gets back to her. Rafe says that’s a maybe and he doesn’t like it.

EJ tells Theo that he’s glad Lexie is doing well. Theo questions why he’s asking about her. EJ guesses he’s overprotective because her situation is unprecedented. Theo says that’s one way to describe it. EJ mentions hearing that Paulina stepped aside. Theo remarks that he’s sure EJ is happy about that. EJ questions if Theo isn’t. Theo responds that he honestly doesn’t know how he feels.

Chanel tells Johnny that she is not changing her mind and complains about Dr. George’s treatment and assumptions. Chanel argues against Johnny wanting her to change her mind and calls Dr. George an ass, adding that her real concerns were being completely dismissed by him and now by Johnny. Johnny argues that he’s not dismissing her concerns. Chanel remarks that he just wants her to shut up and take orders. Johnny calls that unfair. Chanel says it’s unfair that they want to bully her in to things she’s not comfortable with. Johnny points out that even Sarah said keeping her healthy has to be their first priority and they have to take care of her first. Chanel shouts that she can not hear him saying her life is more important than the baby’s and it’s not like he’s not listening to her. Chanel remarks that he flips out if she has caffeine but is fine with them pumping poison in to her veins. Johnny says he’s just saying they should talk about this. Chanel declares that they don’t need to talk about anything because she has made her decision that there will be no chemo and no surgery because it’s her body and her baby.

Marlena tells Lexie that she spoke to her doctors and there are excellent reports about her health. Lexie mentions scheduling follow ups with Kayla to make sure it stays that way. Marlena asks Abe about Chanel and her pregnancy. Abe says that as far as he knows, she’s doing well but admits he hasn’t spoken to her or Paulina recently. Lexie clarifies that she told Abe that she needs him to be focused on their family and he agreed.

Rafe tells Cat that it’s not too late to turn back as she can take back asking for his help or he can pull her from this case. Cat questions if he would do that. Rafe says he would if it means keeping her safe and that he warned Cat that EJ was a monster. Rafe complains that she keeps calling audibles and reminds her that she’s not a trained agent but they keep having this same conversation. Rafe brings up when Cat drugged EJ on her own to search his house. Cat says she already admitted to that being a mistake. Rafe says this is too and reminds her that if EJ finds out she’s playing him, he will not hesitate to come after her or her family. Cat gives her word that she can handle EJ. Rafe argues that she promised last time that she would not engage in any more irresponsible behavior, yet here they are. Rafe warns Cat that if she goes rogue again, they are done because he can’t work with someone he can’t trust. Cat says she understands and it won’t happen again because she knows how important this investigation is. Rafe declares that they have to stop EJ’s drug before it hits the black market. Cat admits she’s still hearing chatter on the dark web and several anonymous inquiries to buy it, but no deals made yet. Rafe states that the drugs untested or regulated but if it really can reverse death and diseases, it has the potential to reshape the future of mankind. Rafe says they need to get a sample of it and make sure it does not fall in to the wrong hands. Rafe adds that if EJ does give it to Cat to give to her mother, she can’t give it to her or they will lose their chance to nail EJ.

Theo tells EJ that he’s thrilled to have his mom back but it causes a lot of problems for Paulina and that side of the family. EJ says that was to be expected but in time, things will normalize. Theo is unsure as he feels there’s more curveballs coming like last night when Lexie said she was disappointed that he stepped down from DiMera and wanted him to reconsider coming back. EJ says he’s glad to hear that. Theo questions why. EJ informs him that Johnny and DiMera may need his help.

Johnny tells Chanel that he thought it was their baby. Chanel says it is, but this is her choice and he promised to respect that. Johnny says he also said she should listen to her doctors recommendations who agree that this is the best course of treatment. Chanel complains that she asked Dr. George about long term studies proving it wouldn’t have any adverse effects on their baby and he couldn’t. Chanel calls it a risk she’s not willing to take. Johnny points out that she was the last time she was pregnant when she was exposed to radiation and the doctors didn’t know. Johnny states that she miscarried but they both decided to carry to term and get through it. Chanel argues that radiation exposure wasn’t a choice while chemotherapy would be and she’s not going to make a choice to hurt the baby. Johnny says he doesn’t want that either but questions what would be worse than growing up without a mother.

Lexie says the food was just as delicious as she remembers and gets up to go compliment Roman. Marlena tells Abe that she knows he has some difficult decisions to make, so whatever happens, she’s there for him. Abe thanks her and hopes she will be there for Paulina too since she considers her a dear friend and he’s sure she could use one right now. Marlena agrees to be there for her as well then.

Cat tells Rafe that she’s well aware that if she gets the sample, she has to turn it over to Rafe. Rafe asks if she’s sure she’s okay with that after everything her family has been through and if she’s willing to walk away from a drug that could help her mother. Cat hopes there’s another option and the drug can get developed and approved in record time, then her mom could receive it. Rafe notes that could happen. Cat knows there’s no guarantees but she can and will do her job.

Theo asks EJ why DiMera would need his help as he knows EJ wanted him gone and for Johnny to stay as CEO. EJ says normally, he had no hesitation about Johnny running the company on his own but unfortunately, he will have to take a step back to support Chanel during her illness. Theo questions what illness. EJ apologizes as he thought Theo knew. EJ then reveals to him that Chanel has breast cancer.

Chanel tells Johnny that she doesn’t want to hide and she’s not going to. Chanel says she wants to wait until after the baby is born and the cure rate for her cancer is high. Johnny worries that would be putting off her treatment for months and Dr. George said it’s important to get started right away. Chanel feels doctors are often overly cautious and want to brag about their success rate. Johnny feels most doctors know what they are talking about while Chanel feels Dr. George wasn’t caring, he was arrogant and condescending. Johnny says he doesn’t disagree, so Chanel questions why he’s defending him. Johnny says he just doesn’t think that’s the normal since his experience with doctors was great. Chanel says his experience might be different than a black woman. Chanel talks about being ignored, overlooked, or told they aren’t in pain when they are. Chanel feels being told not to ask questions is exactly what Johnny is doing now. Johnny disagrees. Chanel says this whole conversation is stressing her out and she knows that can’t be good for her or the baby, so she’s going to check on Trey.

Lexie returns to the table and jokes about being spoiled between Roman and Theo’s cooking. Abe informs Marlena that Theo told him that she knew about Lexie. Marlena admits she did and hopes he understands that she could not violate Theo’s confidentiality. Abe says he didn’t bring it up because he’s upset, but he wanted to thank her as he’s grateful that Theo had someone to help him through all of this. Lexie agrees as she can’t imagine the huge shock it was for everyone to find out she was alive. Lexie thanks Marlena for being there for their son. Marlena is glad that he turned to her. Marlena says it was great to see them but she has to get back to work.

Rafe tells Cat that before he signs off, he needs to know she won’t agree to any conditions that will put her in harm’s way or allow EJ to prey on her in any other way. Cat questions how EJ could prey on her when she’s the one exploiting their connection. Rafe declares that from here on out, he wants her to keep it professional with EJ. Cat responds that might not be possible much longer since the state medical board has taken steps to remove EJ from hospital ownership and Gwen is putting in a bid to buy it. Cat doesn’t think EJ has a say in the matter, but if EJ loses the hospital, she loses her job and if he forbids her from using their personal connection, she loses her access to EJ.

Theo tells EJ that he has to go. EJ asks if Theo would be receptive to coming back to DiMera Enterprises as a second in command while Johnny remains CEO. Theo asks if he’s talked to Johnny or Tony about this. EJ says not yet as he wanted to run it by him first. Theo agrees to do whatever he can to help.

Paulina goes to Johnny and Chanel’s. Paulina tells Johnny that she knows Chanel hasn’t had much appetite but she brought food that she won’t be able to resist. Johnny tells Paulina that he needs her to talk some sense in to Chanel because she’s refusing cancer treatment and is adamant that she have no chemo or surgery until after the baby is born. Paulina questions why. Johnny explains that had an awful experience with Dr. George as Chanel went in with a lot of good questions and he kind of just steamrolled her. Paulina calls that inexcusable. Johnny agrees but says his recommendations all line up with the other doctors and Chanel still insists on putting her life at risk based on a hypothetical. Johnny says he’s trying to be understanding and supportive and say all the right things, but he feels Chanel is being stubborn, shortsighted, and ridiculous. Johnny hopes Paulina has better luck because Chanel won’t listen to a word he’s saying. Chanel then comes back in the room and says she hears him loud and clear.

Rafe asks Cat for the latest on EJ trying to recover his memories of their time in Italy. Cat says that EJ said he saw Marlena but he couldn’t remember anything new, so the hypnosis apparently didn’t work, but he asked her if she would let Marlena hypnotize her. Cat says she told EJ that she already tried and didn’t remember anything. Rafe says that’s good as he thought she might be tempted to give it a try. Cat says she would worry about what she might say under hypnosis and can’t risk Marlena finding out that she’s ISA or any other secrets she’s keeping. Rafe agrees and says she should probably tell Marlena what she told EJ, so he doesn’t catch her in a lie.

Marlena runs in to EJ at the hospital. EJ says he knows she can’t tell him about her hypnosis session with Cat, but he was very disappointed she wasn’t able to remember anything either and asks if she has any other techniques to use. Marlena states that she can’t talk about others’ treatment but she already told him that the chance of him recovering those memories was very slim because he was unconscious. EJ points out that Cat wasn’t. Marlena suggests they just leave it at that.

Abe and Lexie go home. Lexie praises their breakfast and talks about how spending time with good friends can be beneficial to one’s health. Lexie says that seeing Marlena was good for her soul. Abe says seeing her is good for his heart while Lexie says she feels the same. Lexie goes to freshen up and then Theo comes home. Theo reveals to Abe that he just found out Chanel has breast cancer. Abe is shocked and tells Theo not to tell Lexie anything other than that he’s just gone out as he then exits.

Johnny apologizes to Chanel. Paulina points out that he’s not necessarily wrong. Paulina knows Chanel would do anything to protect her baby and says she would do anything to protect hers. Chanel tells her not to pressure her. Paulina says that’s the last thing she wants to do while Chanel complains that it’s all Johnny’s been doing. Paulina tells her that Johnny explained to her how Dr. George was. Chanel cries that he was dismissive of all her concerns and she was so furious. Paulina completely understands how she feels, but says it sounds like the issue is with the one doctor and not necessarily the treatment plan, so she suggests finding a doctor who will treat her with the respect she deserves. Paulina insists they will find her a compassionate doctor who can answer all of her questions. Chanel complains that Johnny doesn’t want to do that and just wants to jump straight in to chemo regardless of the baby. Johnny says he doesn’t want any of this but he loves her and needs her. Paulina brings up when she was in the hospital, Chanel and Lani told her the same thing. Chanel cries that she would never forgive herself if it hurt her unborn child and asks why she can’t just wait until the baby is born. Paulina points out that the sooner she starts treatment, the higher the success rate. Chanel says she can’t decide this right now. Paulina says she doesn’t have to and that they will find another doctor to give a second opinion.

Cat goes to the hospital where Marlena questions why she told EJ that she had a session with her. Cat says she had to get him off her back and questions if he asked her about it. Marlena says she was forced to cover for her. Cat apologizes. Marlena asks if EJ has been pressuring her to go under hypnosis. Cat says he’s just been strongly encouraging it because he’s determined to know more about their time in Italy, but she thinks the past should just stay in the past. Marlena questions her lying to EJ. Cat feels it was the only way and apologizes for putting her in an awkward position. Cat says she’ll see her later and walks away.

Abe goes to Chanel and Johnny’s apartment and runs in to Paulina outside the door. Paulina asks what he’s doing there. Abe tells her that Theo told him about Chanel and he’s so sorry. Abe adds that he’s also sorry he hasn’t been in touch. Paulina says she understands and it’s very kind of him to stop by. Abe wants to check on Chanel but Paulina doesn’t think that’s a good idea since she and Johnny have been dealing with a lot, so seeing him might be a reminder of other issues and they don’t need that right now. Abe asks her to tell them that he’s praying for them which Paulina agrees to do. Paulina and Abe say goodbye to each other as she walks away.

Johnny hopes Chanel will listen to Paulina and let them find another doctor who will listen to her concerns. Johnny says he is not trying to pressure her and just wants her to hear another voice and perspective. Chanel agrees to get a second opinion. Johnny asks what if they say that she needs to start chemo right away. Chanel says if the doctor makes her feel heard and answers all of her questions to her satisfaction, then she’ll do it. Johnny is relieved as he hugs her.

EJ goes to the hospital and gets a call from Dr. Rolf. EJ questions what is so urgent and if he’s saying there’s a problem with their miracle drug.

Lexie comes back and asks Theo where Abe is. Theo responds that he had to go out and run some errands. Theo then says his phone battery is low so he’s going to grab his charger. After he leaves the room, Lexie gets dizzy and stumbles slightly.

Xander urges her to stop beating herself up about this as she did everything she could for Destiny. Xander calls her a terrific doctor who saved so many lives over the years. Sarah points out that she’s also been unable to save lives and she’s around death a lot like all doctors are, but this one got her. Xander says it got him too because it affected her so much.

Rafe brings up Javi’s new boyfriend Gus. Arianna says she really likes him and comments that anyone’s an improvement over Leo. They notice Gabi being distracted and spacing out. Roman brings up things between Kate and Marlena, adding that he’s sorry for bringing up old emotions for doubting her. Kate tells him that she understands completely as Roman hugs her. Belle and Brady share old John stories from when they were little as they toast to John.

Gabi insists that it’s not a date as she is in no way ready to move on after having her heart broken. Rafe points out that Gabi was the one doing the heart breaking. Gabi says she feels terrible enough without him rubbing it in, so Rafe apologizes. Gabi repeats that her meeting shouldn’t take long and she’ll be back before their food arrives as she then exits. Arianna has Rafe take a picture of her wearing her new bracelet. Julie and Foster then arrive for their dinner.

Sarah goes to sleep and dreams about getting back together with Xander.

Gabi meets Xander in the town square and complains about him being late. Xander asks if the offer is still on the table to have some of her DiMera inheritance. Gabi informs him that it’s not because Philip turned it down and said he didn’t want a penny from her.

Julie and Foster have dinner where Julie tires a jalapeno popper for the first time. Arianna looks out the window of Small Bar and tells Rafe that Gabi’s meeting is with Xander as she wonders if she’s trying to make Philip jealous. Rafe says he hopes not because that would be a stupid move, pointing out that Xander and Philip’s rivalry nearly caused an economic collapse not long ago. Arianna complains that Gabi thinks she needs to police her love life, which Rafe says she’s not wrong about.

Belle mentions visiting John’s grave earlier. Marlena tells her that when she was there, she got a sign and shows them the coin she got John when he was in the hospital which was not with his things when Kayla brought them from the hospital, so she doesn’t know how it got at the grave. Marlena thinks it might have just been a message from John that he’ll always be with them.

Sarah dreams about Brady walking in on Xander kissing her and having to choose between the two until she wakes up in a panic.

Belle tells Marlena that she’s glad she got the coin back and brings up never finding out who sent lilacs to John’s funeral. Brady brings up that Belle and Chad are taking Thomas and Charlotte to a Cubs game. Marlena says that John would be thrilled and would also be happy that she’s moved on from EJ. Belle jokes that she’s moved on to the only other DiMera that John would approve of. Brady mentions that he’s sure EJ isn’t thrilled that she’s going out with Chad. Belle says that’s not her problem and if he is miserable about it, it’s an added perk.

Julie comments that she’s more in to spicy books than spicy food. Julie brings up Stephanie’s novel One Stormy Night and thinks it was well written. Foster talks about being more in to spy novels which Julie says they have in common. They toast to each other being tasty and adventurous. Rafe comments to Arianna on Julie being on a date with Foster. Arianna asks if Gabi got in his head about her dating life too. Rafe confirms that she told him about Liam and that he is bad news. Arianna says that all she wants is a chance to say goodbye to Liam. Rafe guesses that’s not in the cards. Ari asks Rafe to use his FBI contacts to help her find him. Rafe says no way while Ari argues that it will give her closure and help her move on but Rafe refuses. Ari guesses she’ll just have to find him herself then.

Xander questions Gabi as to what Philip did. Gabi repeats that Philip doesn’t want anything from her. Xander asks to let him take it on his behalf. Gabi argues that her offer is not transferrable and that she only gave a damn about Titan because she cared about Philip, so if he is dead set against it then she’s not going to piss him off even more. Xander argues that Philip doesn’t know what he wants and once her money saves their company, he’ll change his mind. Xander expects Gabi to use her money to save Titan as he warns her that planting a listening device in someone’s office is illegal and plenty of people will testify that she did just that. Gabi reminds him that if he does that, Philip’s fraud will become public and Titan will be toxic. Xander argues that without her money, Titan will cease to exist and they will have no reason to save face, so Gabi’s reputation will be ruined and Gabi Chic will be worthless. Gabi accuses him of blackmailing her while Xander says he’s offering a choice of making a generous donation to get them back on their feet or face prison and bankruptcy. Xander tells Gabi it was a pleasure doing business with her as he walks away, leaving Gabi furious.

Julie and Foster agree that the dinner and company was excellent. Foster brings up that Small Bar does a karaoke night if that interests her. Julie says it doesn’t and talks about Doug being a professional singer. Foster invites her to trivia night at the Pub instead which Julie says she would enjoy. Gabi returns to Small Bar and exchanges a smile and wave at Julie. Arianna sees that and calls it weird, noting to Rafe that Julie hates Gabi so she questions why she just smiled at her.

Marlena thanks Belle and Brady for joining her and says she’s going to say goodnight to Roman, so Brady and Belle agree to wait outside. Marlena thanks Roman and says the night was lovely. Marlena thinks John would be pleased to know they celebrated him here because he loved the Brady Pub. Roman talks about John lighting the place up every time he walked in. Roman hugs Marlena as Kate watches on.

Outside the Pub, Belle tells Brady that she’s been thinking about the coin Marlena brought up and that the missing pawn piece could mean that John is still out there.

Sarah sits in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion as Xander walks in and says he thought she went to bed. Sarah says she couldn’t sleep and talks about going through Destiny’s medical records, finding out that she had a sister named Clea who died from an overdose two years ago but her autopsy was indeterminate. Sarah reveals that Clea’s medical records listed her emergency contact as Liam Selejko, who she knew from the free clinic, and says maybe he provide more answers. Sarah declares that there’s a connection there but she doesn’t know what it is.

Gabi rejoins Rafe and Arianna. Ari questions Gabi being warm and fuzzy with Julie. Gabi claims she wasn’t smiling at Julie. Rafe asks if she was smiling at Xander. Gabi questions if they were spying on her. Ari points out that she was standing right outside the window. Gabi explains that Gabi Chic has a contract with Titan and that Xander was just helping her go over the fine print. Rafe suggests not spending Ari’s special evening at each others’ throats. Ari jokes that they could have a food fight. Rafe says he will get more fries while Arianna orders a chocolate pie. They toast to this being a new Hernandez family tradition and to family.

Brady reminds Belle that the chess set was left for Marlena before John was even gone, so the missing pawn piece cannot be an indication that John is still alive. Belle points out that it’s not like John hasn’t cheated death before. Brady brings up Shane doing a DNA test on John’s ashes. Belle argues that can’t be done but Brady says the ISA can do it. Belle reluctantly accepts there’s no chance as Marlena comes out from the Pub and they walk off together.

Roman asks Kate for her thoughts. Kate says she was just thinking how much she loves the man she married and how much she would hate to lose him. Roman jokes that she’s stuck with him whether she likes it or not. Kate says she likes it very much. Roman notes that it’s closing time and goes to shut down the kitchen while Kate says she’ll take care of everything else. Kate then checks her phone and hears a voicemail from Xander, saying they need to drop the plagiarism lawsuit and warns that he is going to come clean about setting up Johnny.

Sarah tells Xander that it’s so strange that these two sisters are both gone within a few years of each other. Xander advises her not to stay up too late as she’s not going to get all the answers tonight. Sarah agrees to go to bed soon. Xander guesses he should get to bed as well. They say goodnight as Xander then exits. Sarah grabs her phone and texts Brady, asking for his help getting to the bottom of a mystery.

Brady, Marlena, and Belle walk through the town square. They hear Brady’s phone goes off but he says he’ll just get it later. Belle notes that it could be important and that she will walk Marlena to her car, so Brady says he’ll see them later and walks off. Belle tells Marlena that she’s not ready to call it a night. Marlena feels it’s getting late. Belle disagrees and suggests they go get ice cream cones which Marlena agrees to.

Foster brings Julie home and they talk about enjoying the night. Foster says he’ll see her back at the book store. Foster kisses her on the cheek and says goodnight as he then walks away. Julie heads inside and looks at a photo of Doug, tearfully asking if he likes him.

Marlena sits in the town square, looking at a photo of John on her phone while holding the gold coin.

Update written by Joseph

Abe, Lexie, and Theo have dessert at home after eating dinner. Lexie praises the dinner that Theo made. Lexie then tells Abe and Theo to go out and have some fun, like seeing a movie as she tells them not to feel like they have to sit here and stare at her. Abe apologizes for staring but says he won’t apologize for wanting to spend time with her and their family. Lexie says that works for her because she wants exactly the same thing.

Gwen goes to Leo’s room at the Salem Inn. Leo tells her he’s on a deadline and asks if there’s something he can do for her. Gwen responds that she has a story that might interest him, but she’s hoping he won’t have to print it.

EJ goes to see Dr. Rolf in his secret lab and questions what was so important that he couldn’t say over the phone. Dr. Rolf states that EJ made it clear he wanted to be updated on their research so EJ tells him to get on with it. Dr. Rolf then informs EJ that there is a very slight possibility that they may have a problem.

In the town square, Xander arrives on the scene as Destiny loses consciousness and faints. Xander comes to her side as Sarah calls for an EMT and worries that she can’t feel a pulse on Destiny. Sarah instructs Xander to call for an ambulance while she begins CPR but Javi and JJ show up on duty and ask what’s going on, mentioning their ambulance is right around the corner Xander explains that the woman was talking to Sarah and she just dropped. Javi sends JJ to get the stretcher and his gear.

Theo decides he will give Abe and Lexie some alone time. Lexie says they’ll have plenty of alone time but now is family time, so Theo sits back down. Lexie jokes about parenting a grown man and still getting used to the new normal. Lexie admits that she does have some questions that she hopes they can answer for her.

Dr. Rolf informs EJ that he just heard from Mark that one of the rats in the lab died. EJ asks if the death was caused by the drug. Dr. Rolf says he hopes not and that rats do have short life spans, so there’s a strong chance it was from natural causes but he intends to find out to make sure there are no potential side effects with the serum. EJ asks what it means for Lexie if the drug was to blame for the rat’s death.

JJ, Javi, and Sarah load Destiny onto the stretcher and Xander follows them out of the town square.

Leo questions what Gwen has a story for him about. Gwen responds that it’s about her and EJ, so Leo says he’s listening. Gwen says she knows how long he’s been digging around EJ and the hospital, going as far as snooping in the DiMera tunnels during Stefano’s will reading until Lexie stumbled out and blew the whole thing open. Leo complains that he was one second away from a career defining discovery. Gwen declares that the story she has is even bigger than EJ resurrecting his sister and could even be Leo’s golden egg. Gwen tells Leo that he can crack the story open under the condition that she is dead.

Dr. Rolf tells EJ that he doesn’t believe he has anything to worry about and that he is eager to analyze Lexie in person, but he inspected her blood and everything looked perfect upon her release. Dr. Rolf talks about perfecting the drug and the dosage. EJ asks how many rats died. Dr. Rolf admits this is the first, but he is closely monitoring the rest. EJ tells him to let him know what he learns. Dr. Rolf repeats that he doesn’t expect any more problems, as long as they stay the course.

Lexie tells Abe and Theo that she’s been cramming 14 years of history in to her brain, going over elections, scandals, and the Cubs winning the World Series. Lexie adds that there’s been marriages, divorces, babies born, and the people they lost like John, Doug, and Prince. Lexie adds that some of the news was about the people she loves and her siblings. Lexie asks about the kidnappings. Theo points out that he was the only grandkid while Abe calls it a terrible time and admits he wasn’t sure he’d ever see Theo again. Theo notes that he was injured but he’s all better now. Lexie says there is something else as she read that Theo was named CEO of DiMera Enterprises. Theo starts to say she doesn’t have to worry but Lexie surprises him by saying she’s so proud of him.

Leo questions not being able to tell the story until Gwen is dead and asks if that’s something she’s expecting to happen soon. Gwen says she hopes not, so Leo asks if she’s in trouble. Gwen admits she may be and then reveals that she’s been privy to what EJ’s been doing all along. Leo says he knew it and asks how. Gwen says that he doesn’t need to know the details and just that EJ double crossed her. Leo guesses this is her double double crossing him which Gwen confirms. Gwen adds that she doesn’t know what EJ is going to do when he finds out, so if something happens to her, she needs to be sure that Leo won’t let him get away with it. Gwen asks if Leo will do that.

EJ emerges from the tunnels to find Paulina in his living room. Paulina asks how his time was in the depths of Hell.

At the hospital, Sarah announces to Javi, JJ, and Xander that Destiny has passed away. Sarah tells them about seeing her in the free clinic and thinking she just had a stomach bug, so she let her walk out. They tell her how sorry they are as Javi encourages that they all did everything they could. Javi goes to fill out paper work while JJ says to give him a minute and he’ll catch up with him. Sarah says after being a doctor for so many years, you would think losing a patient wouldn’t hurt this much. JJ then reveals to Sarah that he had dealt with Destiny in the past as a cop and that she had a couple of priors with narcotics, so maybe that had something to do with what happened. Sarah mentions that Destiny told her that she had taken pills she found in her medicine cabinet, but she didn’t show any signs of being high. JJ points out that it’s not always obvious. Sarah thanks him for telling her. JJ knows she’s doubting herself right now, but sometimes there’s nothing one can do when someone is harming themselves on a self destructive path.

Theo questions Lexie being proud of him. Lexie points out how uncommon it is to have a black, autistic CEO of a multi national company and says she always knew he was destined for great things. Theo admits that he didn’t think she would see him running Stefano’s company as one of those great things and reveals that’s why he stepped down which shocks Lexie as she questions him quitting because of her. Theo says he thought she would be disappointed but Lexie says he could never disappoint her. Lexie talks about what the DiMera name carries because of the things Stefano did, but in her heart, she always wished the name and company could be something better. Lexie calls Theo exactly the kind of person who could do that. Theo admits this is not the reaction he expected. Lexie truly hopes that he will reconsider and reveals that she wants Theo to go back to DiMera Enterprises, but Abe says he does not.

Gwen informs Leo that there is a sealed letter that details everything EJ has done and her lawyer has been instructed to hand deliver it to Leo if something happens to her. Leo calls that a dead man switch and that he is her switch if she dies. Leo asks why him when she still kind of hates him. Gwen admits that she does, but she still kind of loves him too. Gwen says that in spite of everything that’s happened the past few years, he’s still the truest friend she’s ever had and the one person she feels will really follow through with whatever it takes which Leo agrees to do. Leo adds that he does not like the her possibly dying part and says he would be a wreck. Gwen insists he can handle it. Leo argues that he has real feelings and has been in an emotional pit lately after losing Javi and Dimitri. Leo declares that Gwen is the one loss he refuses to add to that and that no story could ever replace her.

Paulina informs EJ that her staff told her that he was here, so when she didn’t see him, she figured she was down in the tunnels, cooking up his latest science experiment. Paulina asks who he’s bringing back this time. EJ asks what she wants. Paulina responds that she’s been aware of his unethical activities for months now, which have turned her life upside down. Paulina calls it rare to share one positive development. EJ tells her to just share what she has to say because he has things to do. Paulina announces that the state medical board has voted to censor him and are one step away from stripping EJ of hospital ownership.

Abe argues that a DiMera is still a DiMera and even if they say they aren’t involved, EJ and Kristen are never far away. Lexie argues that Theo can handle them and he has her now. Theo thanks her for the support but says he can’t go back because Johnny is the CEO now and he’s not asking him to leave. Lexie asks if he’s talked to Tony about this as she reveals Tony was making business calls in her hospital room when he thought she was asleep. Abe blames the DiMeras for Theo getting kidnapped and nearly killed while Lexie argues they are still her family. Abe disagrees, saying she’s not one of those DiMeras. Lexie states that Theo is a grown man and can make his own decisions. Theo asks them not to argue. Lexie says they are just having a spirited debate like they used to. Abe says he has a better idea.

EJ laughs Paulina off and says he can’t be stripped of the hospital when there’s no one else to buy it, pointing out that no one else was knocking down the door when he did buy it. Paulina reveals that she hears they already have an interested party on the hook. EJ guesses it would have to be Xander but Titan is barely keeping their head above water. Paulina responds that it’s not Xander, so EJ asks who else it could be. Paulina then reveals it’s an old friend of his, Gwen, leaving EJ upset.

Gwen tells Leo that when she got involved with EJ, she knew the risk she was taking. Gwen tells Leo that if she dies, he knows what to do. Leo hopes he never has to write that story.

Xander checks on Sarah, who claims she’s fine. Xander says it’s not the first time he’s seen someone die, but it’s his first time being that close and watching Sarah fight so hard to save her life which gave him more respect for what she does. Sarah argues that she just lost a patient while Xander tries to encourage her not to blame herself. Sarah complains that she let her walk out of the clinic when she should’ve kept her and ran more tests, so maybe she’d still be alive. Xander brings up JJ saying she had a past with drugs. Sarah says that she examined Destiny and her vitals and pupils seemed fine so she didn’t seem high. Sarah declares that it had to be something else and she missed it.

Abe brings out an old board game as a family tradition. Theo points out that you can play these games on the internet now but says he’ll still get in to it. Lexie can’t believe Abe kept the game. Abe says he kept almost everything from their life together even if most of it is in storage now, but notes the grandkids are getting old enough to play. Lexie says she’s sorry if she gets things wrong sometimes as she just missed so much time.

Xander encourages that Sarah is a wonderful doctor and how many people she has helped. Sarah thanks him but says she feels like a failure. Xander suggests she go home and get some rest after going through something traumatic. Sarah points out that he went through it too. Xander offers her a ride home and says spending time with their daughter always makes him feel better which Sarah says sounds great as she thanks him.

Leo walks in to the town square and sees JJ and Javi as JJ waves him over. Leo tells JJ that they don’t know each other well but Chad speaks highly of him and his parents sign his pay check, so he feels like he knows him and congratulates him on his career change. Javi explains that JJ is shadowing him as part of his training. Leo comments that it’s always good to learn from the best. JJ mentions that with any luck, he’ll be joining Javi’s boyfriend Gus as the newest members of the Salem Fire Department.

Gwen goes to the DiMera Mansion where EJ questions what the hell she thinks she’s doing. Gwen guesses he heard her news. EJ questions telling the board she wanted to buy the hospital. Gwen asks if that upsets him. EJ says he warned her. Gwen declares that he stabbed her in the back, so now she’s returning the knife. EJ asks what the hell she is thinking when she’s already an investor in the hospital and their research project. Gwen responds that EJ pointed out that they never had a legally binding contract, so she can do whatever she wants. Gwen states that it’s no secret the board wants him out but they can’t force him out of the hospital without a buyer, so she’s the buyer. EJ argues that he’s going to fight this and they can’t force him to give up his ownership. Gwen asks if he’s going to try blackmail or bribes. Gwen adds that if he plans to settle their score in a more permanent fashion, he should know that if anything happens to her, the skeletons in his overcrowded closet will not stay hidden for long. EJ says she wouldn’t dare while Gwen dares him to call her bluff.

After finishing their board game, Abe yawns and suggests calling it a night. Lexie feels it’s still early but Abe says she doesn’t want to push it on her first night out of the hospital. Theo agrees and says goodnight as he heads to his room. Abe tells Lexie that the guest room is ready, but he can take it if she would like the master bedroom. Lexie responds that she doesn’t feel comfortable sleeping in a bed he shared with Paulina while them sharing a bed feels premature. Abe says it’s whatever makes her comfortable as there’s no pressure or expectations and it’s just one day at a time which Lexie says sounds good. As Abe goes to prepare their rooms, Lexie picks up a framed photo of Abe and Paulina.

JJ goes to get coffee while Leo questions Javi about Gus joining the Salem Fire Department and guesses that means he’s moving here permanently. Javi confirms that’s the plan. Leo says he hopes it all works out the way he wants it to as he walks away.

After Gwen exits, Dr. Rolf emerges from the tunnels and tells EJ that he heard raised voices, so he asks if everything is alright. EJ responds that things are certainly not alright.

Gwen exits the DiMera Mansion and sends a text to Xander.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Sarah brings Victoria to say goodnight to Xander but Victoria wants to play and asks them to build a castle for her doll, so they do. Xander then sees Gwen’s text, asking him to come over tonight as she has big news to celebrate. Xander texts back that he’s sorry but he’s busy as he rejoins Sarah and Victoria.

Johnny explains that they came to meet with an oncologist from Chicago and complains that he hates to lay this on Marlena today of all days. Marlena assures that she’s there for anything he needs. Johnny thanks her and says he loves her.

Kate checks on Joy at the Brady Pub. Joy admits she’s feeling a little anxious. Kate asks if she wants to talk. Joy says it’s no big deal but she left Kelsey with Alex for the first time alone. Joy notes that Alex tried to hide it but she could tell he’s kind of a wreck and admits that she is too.

Alex brings Kelsey to meet her Grandfather Justin at the Kiriakis Mansion.

Sarah checks on a patient named Destiny at the free clinic. Destiny explains feeling sick lately and it’s not going away. Sarah assures she will get excellent care and they will do everything they can to make her feel better.

Xander meets Marlena in her office and assumes it’s about working at Titan, asking if that means she’s finally ready to play nice with Kate. Marlena responds that it doesn’t mean that.

Chanel returns to Johnny and asks if he told Marlena about her diagnosis which he confirms. Johnny says that Marlena said she’s there for anything they need. Chanel is glad she knows and guesses it’s time for their appointment.

Sarah checks on Destiny and notes she has no fever. Destiny complains of stomach pain and throwing up a lot. Sarah guesses she’s dehydrated and asks if she’s taking any medication. Destiny says just painkillers but they aren’t doing much. Sarah asks what kind it is. Destiny says she doesn’t know as it’s just a bottle from the back of the cabinet. Sarah asks her to check when she gets home but Destiny says she threw the bottle away when she finished the pills. Destiny complains that her head is pounding and asks Sarah to just give her something. Sarah wants to hold off until doing tests, so she says she will order blood work and a flu and strep test to get to the bottom of what’s going on with her.

Marlena tells Xander that this is bigger than all of that as she’s been thinking about John lately in the context of a decision she has to make. Marlena brings up Johnny being named after John and how they were very close. Marlena complains that Xander and Kate have been railroading Johnny, so she thinks that John would tell her she shouldn’t work for them at all and just walk away. Marlena declares that is what she’s going to do unless he comes to his senses and drops the lawsuit against Johnny.

Joy tells Kate that she’s only ever left Kelsey with her sister and her mom while Alex doesn’t know much about babies. Kate encourages that he’s going to learn. Joy doubts he’s even changed a diaper, but admits Alex said he memorized the notes she left him. Kate points out that Stephanie will be there to help but guesses Joy’s not excited about that. Joy acknowledges that Stephanie probably has more experience changing diapers but admits she’s not too crushed that her brother’s wedding is on the other side of the planet. Kate asks if Stephanie did something. Joy says not exactly, she just doesn’t know how maternal Stephanie will ever feel towards Kelsey, since she wishes she didn’t exist.

Justin asks if Alex is doing okay with all of this. Alex says he always knew parenting would be a challenge. Justin agrees but says it’s worth it as there’s nothing like it as Kelsey will have his heart in no time. Alex responds that she already does.

Kate tells Joy that Stephanie has had a lot thrown at her lately, so she’s going to struggle with that. Kate encourages Joy to give Stephanie some time and let her find her new normal. Joy admits she’s not the first person to say that. Joy feels like she’s destined to be the bad guy in all of this. Kate assures she’s not and says she can relate. Kate tells Joy that she had a baby with a married man and tried to keep it secret to protect his family, but it all came out in the end and they did not embrace her with open arms. Joy says she’s not judging, but Alex and Stephanie weren’t married or even together when she got pregnant. Kate acknowledges that’s true. Kate guesses what she’s trying to say is that Alex and Stephanie are trying to work it out and tells Joy to be grateful that the situation is not much worse.

Sarah returns to Destiny with her test results and says she tested negative for influenza and strep throat. Destiny asks what’s wrong with her then. Sarah thinks she’s dealing with a stomach bug. Destiny asks what she can give her for that. Sarah offers a medicine that helps with nausea and says the best thing she can do is rest, drink plenty of liquids, and let it run it’s course. Destiny complains that she’s in pain. Sarah tells Destiny to come back to the ER if it gets worse. Destiny remarks that she won’t come back at all since she’s obviously not worth the trouble. Sarah stops her and assures that she wants to help and does think she’s worth the trouble. Sarah says it worries her that she’s this upset and in this much pain. Destiny pleads with her to do something about it then.

Xander questions Marlena as to why the hell he would drop the lawsuit. Marlena thinks he’s come a long way in their therapy together and she’s proud of the progress he’s made, but says he needs to start taking responsibility for his own actions. Xander argues that he’s tried his best. Marlena acknowledges that he’s owned up to things from his past and even talked about his regrets, but this business with Johnny is very different and something he has to fix. Marlena tells Xander that Johnny is the person he needs to apologize to and ask forgiveness from.

Johnny and Chanel go to meet Dr. George, but he refers to Chanel by her symptoms on her chart which offends her. Chanel argues that she’s the owner of a business and has a husband as she declares that she’s a person, not a disease. He apologizes and says he should’ve been more sensitive. Chanel says it’s okay as she’s obviously a little on edge. He talks about confirming the stage of her cancer after surgery. Chanel asks about the effects on her baby. He says she will go through chemotherapy until a few weeks before the due date and then begin hormone therapy afterwards. He calls it all pretty straightforward and asks if there’s any questions. Chanel responds that she actually has a lot of questions which seems to annoy the doctor.

Sarah tells Destiny that she knows she’s in pain and she wishes she could do more. Destiny complains that she hasn’t done anything and her head feels like it’s about to explode. Sarah encourages her to drink liquids but Destiny argues that won’t help. Sarah tries to get her to sit down but Destiny accuses her of thinking she’s making up her pain and storms out.

Roman comes over to greet Kate and Joy and asks if he can get them anything. Kate says they are fine, so Roman walks away. Joy questions if everything is okay between them. Kate admits it’s not really.

Justin asks Alex how Stephanie is taking all of this. Alex wishes he knew but says between the time difference and all the wedding stuff, they’ve barely talked, so he guesses he’ll find out when she gets back from China. Bonnie then comes in and excitedly meets Kelsey. Bonnie and Justin congratulate each other on being grandparents. Bonnie then suggests they discuss the lawsuit against her and DiMera Publishing.

Xander argues that Marlena can’t force him to do anything or to disclose what they’ve talked about here. Marlena agrees that she can’t and there’s nothing she can do to stop what Kate is doing, but she can stop treating Xander. Xander questions this being what motivates her to drop him as a patient. Marlena argues that Johnny has enough on his plate and doesn’t need an unfair lawsuit. Marlena tells Xander that either that goes away or he’ll have to find a new therapist. Xander calls that hardly fair but Marlena feels it’s more than fair. Marlena says that Xander was talking about regrets and now she’s giving him a chance to fix all of that.

Justin tells Bonnie that Alex came by to introduce them to his daughter, not to talk business. Bonnie says he came for a family visit and this is a family matter. Bonnie says she wants to be perfectly clear that she did not mean to rip off One Stormy Night as she was inspired by it, but she knows now that her book did cross the line and she takes full responsibility for it. Alex thanks her and understands that wasn’t her intention. Bonnie points out that DiMera is paying a lot while she’s paying too and not just with money. Bonnie complains that seeing her book ripped off the shelves was heartbreaking and humiliating. Alex tells Bonnie that he’s sorry and he’s with her on this. Justin adds that no one on their end wants to see it go to court. Justin says that EJ leaned on him and tried to broker a deal, thinking he had some pull but Xander won’t budge. Bonnie thanks them and asks Alex to try again. Alex agrees to try his hardest but he doesn’t know if it wil do any good. Alex says his gut tells him that the only way it will go away is if someone does the impossible and gets Xander to settle.

Xander questions Marlena saying he has to do what she says or lose his therapist and argues that it sounds like extortion to him. Marlena thinks any therapist would give him the same information and tells Xander to break the cycle of abusing power then beating himself up for it. Xander argues that he’s already made such progress with her and she knows his life story, so he doesn’t want to start all that over with someone else. Marlena tells Xander that he and Kate can do the right thing, then she can work with Kate and remain his therapist. Xander questions Kate admitting to it and points out that Roman would never forgive her. Marlena remarks that it isn’t her problem.

Roman asks Joy for a moment alone with Kate. Kate says she has nothing to say to him, but Roman says he has a few things to say to her.

Chanel tells Dr. George that she knows he must be busy, but she has to be comfortable with her treatment plan and asks how many pregnant women he’s treated. He says “enough” and then says a handful because it’s rare which Chanel questions because she’s read that it’s common and the numbers are growing. Chanel brings up her concerns with bias against black women with breast cancer. Johnny steps in and calls it a very difficult time, telling the doctor that Chanel just wants to make sure he’s listening to her. Dr. George assures that all medical research confirms the best treatment is the one he has recommended. Chanel argues that she’s not just another statistic and warns him not to treat her like she doesn’t matter.

Xander and Marlena leave her office and walk through the hospital. Xander remarks that he’s surprised that she’s so cavalier about Roman’s marriage. Marlena responds that she’s not, but Kate misled her grandson and argues that Roman deserves to know the truth while Johnny deserves to have the lawsuit against him dropped. Sarah comes over and questions Xander being back at the hospital. Xander informs her that he was just finishing his therapy session with Marlena and that she’s given him a lot to think about as he then exits.

Kate asks Joy to give her and Roman a moment. Joy gets up from the table as Alex arrives with Kelsey. Alex tells her it went great with Justin and Bonnie as they immediately fell in love with her. Meanwhile, Kate asks what Roman wants to say to her. Roman says he hates that they are having this fight and he gets why she’s mad at him, so he owes her an apology.

Sarah tells Marlena that she was hoping to run in to her as it’s the anniversary of John’s passing and asks how she’s doing. Marlena says all things considered, she’s alright. Marlena tells her about her plans with Brady and Belle to have dinner and raise a glass to toast John together. Marlena then invites Sarah to join them. Sarah says she loves John and all of them very much, but it sounds like a night for Marlena to be with her family. Marlena points out that she is important to Brady which makes her important to them, so Sarah agrees to think about it.

Dr. George tells Chanel that he tries very hard to give his patients the respect they deserve. Chanel complains that she isn’t feeling respect and is feeling scared that he doesn’t care. Chanel wants to know more about the effects this is going to have on her baby and questions if any long term studies proving a baby won’t end up with disabilities after being exposed to chemotherapy. Dr. George assures that she’s not just a statistic but that doesn’t change that she has a very serious illness, so taking advice from an online blog is a waste of their time. He suggests Chanel get off the internet and calm down because the stress isn’t doing any good. He asks Chanel to call his office to make arrangements to begin chemotherapy as he then walks out of the room.

Roman tells Kate that he hates the silent treatment, but he understands why she’s upset with him. Roman declares that he should’ve trusted her because she’s his wife, so if she says she didn’t set up Johnny then he believes her and will fight against anyone who says different. Kate tearfully thanks him and tells him how much it means to her as they hug.

Johnny and Chanel exit the hospital room, so Sarah asks how the appointment went. Johnny responds that Dr. George’s bedside manner is a bit lacking. Marlena acknowledges that he’s not known for being receptive to his patient’s concerns. Johnny thought he was supposed to be the best breast cancer specialist there is. Sarah states that even the best can mess up the human part. Johnny worries that they don’t have a lot of time before Chanel needs to begin chemo and surgery. Chanel then suddenly declares that she’s not doing it and she refuses to be pressured in to it by some egomaniacal jerk. She proclaims what happens to her body is her choice and not his as she storms off and Johnny goes after her.

Alex and Joy exit the Pub with Kelsey. Alex mentions preparing for his next visit with Kelsey, so Joy asks when that will be. Alex tells her that Stephanie will be home soon, so maybe it’s time she and Kelsey get to know each other. Joy questions if he’s sure she’s ready for that. Alex says he thinks so but admits he’s definitely not sure and they are just taking it one step at a time. Joy points out that they could always go to the park or come to her place if it’s easier. Alex thanks her but thinks they’ll be fine while Joy says she gets that he has to talk to Stephanie before agreeing to anything. Alex says he will see Kelsey and Joy again soon as he walks away.

Sarah runs in to her patient Destiny in the town square. Destiny tells her that she needs to go back to the hospital as she tried to make it back home but started feeling really bad. Xander arrives on the scene as Destiny loses consciousness and faints. Xander comes to her side as Sarah calls for an EMT and worries that she can’t feel a pulse on Destiny.

Update written by Joseph

Abe and Theo bring Lexie home. Lexie talks about being thrilled to finally be out of the hospital bed. Lexie calls the place lovely while Theo says he’s sure it will take her some time to feel like home, but Lexie says that they are all she needs.

Mark is working in the lab until Cat shows up and startles him. Cat delivers a box that arrived downstairs which Mark says must be the test tubes he ordered. Mark mentions hearing that Cat and Aaron went to visit their mom this morning and asks how she is. Cat says that she’s not good at all which is the last thing Aaron needed after everything with Sophia. Cat tells Mark that their mom’s health has seriously deteriorated the last few weeks and she’s struggling to even communicate. Cat questions if nothing else can be done for her. Mark responds that the doctors are doing all they can. Mark adds that it’s killing him that he’s working on a drug that could work miracles, but knowing it won’t be ready in time to help their mom.

Paulina goes to see Chanel and says she just got done watching the twins, so she thought she’d come see Trey. Chanel tells her that Trey is taking a nap, so they sit together. Chanel asks how Paulina is. Paulina says she’s hanging in there but notes Chanel looking exhausted. Chanel says she didn’t get much sleep and informs Paulina that she got some bad news yesterday.

Gabi runs in to Philip in the town square and says she has something to say. Philip says he doesn’t want to hear it, but Gabi says she’s saying it anyway.

EJ goes to see Johnny at the DiMera Enterprises office. EJ tells Johnny that they don’t have much time because Tony is striking out on finding someone to run the company and Anna wants to leave town, so they need to make their move. Johnny feels they are out of moves to make. EJ says they need to put together a pitch to convince Tony he’s making a mistake and let Johnny stay on as CEO. EJ suggests Johnny go home and put on his best suit, but Johnny tells him to forget it as he’s not making Tony the hard sell now. EJ questions why not. Johnny responds that he’s not interested in keeping the job anymore and announces that he’s quitting.

Lexie tells Abe and Theo that she’d love to take a walk through the town square later to see how it’s changed, maybe buy some new clothes and suggests dining out tonight. Theo suggests staying in for dinner and offers to cook which surprises Lexie. Lexie says she won’t let Theo do all the work, so she’ll take care of the dishes. Abe says she won’t lift a finger as she needs some rest. Lexie declares that she’s been resting for 14 years and is ready to live again. Theo suggests maybe she ease in to it. Lexie assures that they don’t have to worry about losing her again as she’s here to stay.

Paulina asks Chanel what it is. Chanel brings up her doctor’s appointment which Paulina assumed was to check on the baby. Chanel reveals it was a follow up to a biopsy she had done. Chanel didn’t want her to worry until she was sure it was something serious, but now she’s sure as she announces she has breast cancer. Chanel says she didn’t want to lay it on her with all she has going on. Paulina says not to worry about her and hopes it was caught early. Chanel says it was, but it’s growing aggressively which isn’t great. Chanel notes that the 5 year survival rate is high. Paulina asks if the pregnancy will affect the treatment. Chanel says there are options that she will discuss with the doctors to figure out what’s best for her and the baby. Chanel asks Paulina to try not to worry. Paulina knows she will handle and deal with it with courage, so she will be there for whatever she needs. Chanel asks her to just stay positive for her which Paulina agrees to.

Gabi tells Philip that she’s not looking for a fight and she just wants to keep him in the loop. Gabi informs him that her lawyer sent in all the paper to nullify her divorce from Stefan and she’s not sure the DiMeras still plan to fight it, but it’d be a losing battle if they did. Gabi knows Philip regrets helping her with this but she’s grateful that he did and now that she’s entitled to Stefan’s inheritance, she still wants him to have a part of it as a token of her gratitude. Philip calls it her guilt and declares he doesn’t want a penny from her.

EJ questions Johnny quitting. Johnny feels it’s better to walk away with his head held high. EJ argues that will only jeopardize DiMera’s future and they can’t keep playing musical chairs with the CEO position. Johnny says he can’t keep working these crazy hours, dealing with the pressure of being CEO, while having an infant at home with a pregnant wife. Johnny then reveals to EJ that Chanel is fighting cancer.

Cat questions if Mark is saying the drug EJ produced in the lab could possibly help their mom. Mark explains that it showed significant improvements on dead rats. Cat asks about possibly getting a dose to their mom but Mark says they wouldn’t be able to do before the FDA approved it. Cat argues that EJ had no problem giving it to Lexie which Mark points out was different because Lexie was dead, so EJ wasn’t breaking any laws by giving her a non-approved drug compared to a living patient. Cat questions who says the FDA ever has to find out which shocks Mark. Cat argues that it has to have crossed his mind that he could sneak the miracle drug to their mom. Mark admits it has, but he’s not doing anything that could get him thrown back in jail. Mark adds that he doesn’t even have access since Dr. Rolf keeps a tight lid on the supply. Cat says she wasn’t saying he should steal it, but thought with his inner knowledge of the lab, he could find them a loophole.

Johnny sits with EJ and informs him that they got the results of the biopsy yesterday, confirming the tumor is malignant. EJ says he’s so sorry. Johnny adds that they decided to just keep it in the family, so EJ agrees not to tell a soul. Johnny asks EJ not to act like it’s a big tragedy around Chanel because they are trying to stay positive. EJ asks if he can make any calls, but Johnny says Sarah has had them covered. Johnny tells EJ that what he could use from him is his support which means supporting his decision to step back from DiMera.

Chanel hates telling Paulina this when she’s already dealing with so much. Paulina repeats that she’s not allowed to worry about her and encourages the positive vibes only. Paulina says times will be tough and when she’s feeling scared or not as strong, she can lean on family. Paulina states that sometimes, she will need her mom more than anyone else. Paulina adds that Chanel was there for her in her fight, so now it’s her turn to be there for her. Chanel feels lucky to have an amazing mom. Paulina declares that they are warriors and always will be.

Theo shows Lexie some old photos of his and comes across one with Claire. Lexie hopes she never shows her face in town and calls her a little tramp for cheating on Theo. Lexie asks Theo if anyone new has caught his eye since moving back to Salem. Theo responds that there was someone, but it’s not going to work out.

Gabi questions Philip refusing her lifeline when Titan is hanging by a thread. Philip responds that he doesn’t want anything from her. Gabi argues that it’s his pride talking and asks what she can do to change his mind. Gabi repeats that she’s so sorry for bugging his office, tipping off Tony, and not telling him herself so that he had to hear it from Theo. Philip questions what she’s talking about and reveals Theo didn’t tell him anything, which shocks Gabi.

Abe asks Theo if he’s talking about Jada. Lexie asks who Jada is. Theo says she’s just someone he went on a few dates with, but it’s not her. Abe asks if it’s the friend who accused him of something he didn’t do. Theo confirms it’s her. Lexie feels it sounds like she doesn’t deserve him. Theo decides he’s going to the bakery. Abe mentions that Paulina’s daughter runs it. Theo tells Lexie that she’d really like her. Theo says he’ll be back soon and rushes off. Lexie feels Theo was looking for any excuse to shut down that conversation. Abe tells her that Theo is better with his emotions but this wound is still fresh. Lexie hates to see him heartbroken, but says he’ll know when he meets the right one, just like she did as Lexie and Abe then kiss.

Gabi questions who told Philip if not Theo. Philip says it doesn’t matter and what matters is that he knows the truth. Gabi realizes she made a terrible mistake and needs to fix this. Philip tells her to continue her apology tour and suggests trying honesty for a change as he walks off.

Mark tells Cat that he doesn’t know if there are any loopholes but he could talk to Dr. Rolf, not that he knows where he is. Mark admits they have communicated from time to time. Cat asks if he thinks Dr. Rolf would go behind EJ’s back. Mark says probably not but he might be able to persuade EJ that it’s important for his research on the drug. Cat decides she can’t ask him to reach out to Dr. Rolf as she cannot have him held liable for any bending of the rules since he wouldn’t have plausible deniability. Cat points out that she’s just an innocent administrative assistant that wouldn’t know she’s doing anything wrong. Mark argues that as much as he wants to help their mom, he doesn’t want to see Cat getting in trouble either. Cat tells him not to worry as she can handle EJ.

EJ advises Johnny not to make the same mistakes as he did and agrees that his wife and children must always come first. Johnny assures that they always will. Jada walks in and asks if it’s a bad time. Johnny asks what he can do for her. Jada responds that she was hoping to put the Sophia Choi case to bed, so she hoped to ask him some more questions in private. EJ tells Johnny they will talk later and says to give Chanel his best as he exits the office.

Paulina asks Chanel what she can take off her plate while she’s dealing with all this and offers to watch Trey more often or cook dinner. Chanel says the best thing she can do is take care of herself, so she doesn’t have to worry about her. Paulina offers to watch the Bakery but Chanel says that Lani already said she’d do that. Paulina is happy that they are so close. Paulina suggests Chanel get some rest while Trey is napping and she’ll stay to watch him. Chanel agrees that will do good and thanks her. Paulina reminds her that she’s always here for her as they hug.

EJ goes to the hospital and greets Cat. EJ guesses she hasn’t made her appointment with Marlena yet. Cat says she was doing that now and thanks him for giving her time off so she could go with Aaron to Sophia’s memorial which also gave them time to check on their mother. EJ is glad he could help and says he was just telling Johnny that family always has to come first. Cat is glad they agree on that because she has a huge personal favor to ask of him.

Abe tells Lexie that he just can’t believe she’s here. Lexie is sure it must be strange for him since he probably thinks of it as he and Paulina’s home. Abe assures that Lexie will always be in his heart. Lexie asks about Paulina. Abe responds that she accepted it and knew his feelings for Lexie were forever. Lexie asks if Abe would also say Paulina would always be in his heart, because she’s not sure she can be so accepting.

Paulina talks on the phone about having to reschedule due to a family emergency but Chanel comes back in and tells her not to do that, so she hangs up. Paulina argues that she didn’t even take a power nap. Chanel says she couldn’t sleep, so she shouldn’t cancel her meeting. Chanel questions if Salem’s mayor is just going to be missing for a few weeks and argues that she has enough to worry about without the whole city falling apart. Paulina says she’s made her point but she’s only a phone call away. Paulina tells Chanel that she loves her as they hug and then she leaves for her meeting. Chanel then starts to cry until Trey wakes up crying. Chanel goes to check on him and decides they should get some fresh air.

Theo runs in to Gabi in the town square. Gabi says she was just calling him but Theo doesn’t want to talk to her. Gabi stops him and says she owes him a huge apology.

Johnny tells Jada that he’s a little surprised as he thought the investigation was wrapped up. Jada says she’s just tying up some loose ends. Jada reveals that they found the gun used to knock him out in the river but it’s untraceable, so they are wondering how Sophia could’ve got it and why she would go through the trouble to get an untraceable gun if she wasn’t planning to shoot him. Johnny agrees that is strange. Jada asks if Sophia said anything else to him after attacking him that he might not have remembered in his first statement. Johnny reveals that she actually did say something.

Gabi tells Theo that she is so sorry for lashing out at him and accused him of telling Philip when she should’ve known that he’d never do anything like that. Theo agrees and asks why the apology and what made her realize that he wasn’t the one who betrayed her. Gabi admits that Philip set her straight. Theo guesses that if Philip hadn’t vouched for him, she’d still think he was a lying dirtbag. Theo thought she came to her senses because she realized she actually knew him, but declares he was wrong and walks away.

EJ sits with Cat and asks if everything is alright. Cat informs him that her mother’s dementia is rapidly progressing and not responding to any treatments. Cat says that Clyde’s brainwashing seems to have rewired her brain. EJ assures that he understands and asks what he can do to help. Cat hates to ask but asks if there’s any possible way to use the drug that brought Lexie back on her mother, either through clinical trials or some other means.

Lexie tells Abe that she doesn’t mean he has to cut Paulina out of his life completely and that they can’t be friends later, but she would prefer to get reacquainted again with her husband without any distractions. Abe agrees to call Paulina to tell her they’d like some time to themselves for awhile. Lexie suggests not talking to her at all as she’s sure if Abe goes no contact with her, she’ll get the hint.

Paulina goes to her room at the Salem Inn and opens her laptop to research breast cancer and pregnancy.

Chanel walks Trey to the town square and runs in to Theo. Theo tells her that Lexie got home from the hospital today. Theo knows it’s awkward and he’s sorry about what went down between Abe and Paulina. Chanel calls it heartbreaking for her mother, but she doesn’t want that to take away from the joy Theo must have to have his mom back and she doesn’t want things to be weird between them. Chanel says it will just be different. Chanel adds that Theo is family, so there’s something he should know. Chanel then notices Theo seemingly starting to feel uncomfortable and asks if he’s okay.

Johnny tells Jada that he was mostly out of it due to the fumes, but he’s been trying to piece together some of the things Sophia said to him while he was tied up. Johnny states that somehow Sophia knew that he would be home alone and that Chanel and Trey wouldn’t be home for hours, and that they were supposed to be at the aquarium with Lani and the twins. Jada wonders how she knew that. Johnny suggests she could’ve been stalking them or planted a bug in their apartment, but he’s not aware of her being at their place. Jada notes that forensics didn’t find any listening devices. Johnny says it’s possible she took it with her when she left. Jada feels there’s a simpler explanation as someone might have told Sophia his family’s plans for the day. Johnny questions who would do that.

Theo sits down and tells Chanel it was just sensory overload. Theo says he used to have meltdowns as a kid, so he came up with coping mechanisms that worked until recently. Theo says it tends to happen when his brain tries to process too much at once, including changes to his routine. Chanel acknowledges that there have been a lot of changes lately. Theo says it’s not that he’s thrilled about his mom, but it’s a big adjustment and he just ran in to someone who he used to really like until she accused of him lying. Chanel says she must not know him well. Theo says because of that, he was already on edge when he ran in to Chanel and then she mentioned things being different. Chanel clarifies that she didn’t mean their relationship being different, just things like Paulina moving out. Theo says he knows and was just overwhelmed. Theo asks what Chanel was going to say earlier that seemed important. Chanel claims she was just going to say that no matter what, she’ll always be his sister and love him as they hug.

Jada asks if Johnny can think of anyone else who might have known that Lani and Chanel would be in Chicago that day. Johnny says just family like Julie and Paulina. Jada asks if anyone else might have interacted with Sophia. Johnny says not that he’s aware of. Jada says he’s given her a lot to look in to and he knows how to reach her if he thinks of anything else. Johnny thanks Jada as she exits.

EJ asks what Cat is implying by other means. Cat mentions not having a lot of money. EJ says that won’t be necessary and agrees to try to get a message to Dr. Rolf, asking him to review her mother’s case and if he believes their drug could help her, then of course he will give it to her. Cat thanks him and says it means the world to her. EJ adds that there would be certain conditions that they can discuss later, but right now he has a meeting with the benefits administrator. EJ tells Cat to stay strong as he walks away. Cat then pulls out her phone and calls Rafe, telling him that she just laid a trap for EJ and she’s pretty sure he’s going to fall right in to it.

Gabi runs in to Philip again in the town square. Philip says he has nothing left to say to her. Gabi questions him sending a long e-mail to her assistant and why he’s trying to cancel the Titan-Gabi Chic shipping deal. Philip repeats that he wants nothing to do with her. Gabi argues that they have a contract and it would be stupid of him to throw away this deal when his company needs the money since he wouldn’t accept her offer of the DiMera money. Philip tells Gabi that money can’t buy love and also can’t erase betrayal and can’t fix what she broke. Gabi accuses him of having a self-destructive temper tantrum and warns that if Titan goes down, his ego won’t be the only thing bruised as thousands of people will lose their jobs. Gabi says she knows underneath all of his anger, he’s heartbroken and so is she. Gabi adds that she’s not letting out of their contract, so they will have to work together whether he likes it or not.

Lexie tells Abe that they can’t keep avoiding the conversation and that Paulina stepped aside because she knew Abe couldn’t break her heart. Lexie declares that she needs to know affirmatively that he’s made that decision too. Abe assures that he has, but admits that he feels badly for Paulina. Abe tells Lexie that they built a beautiful family together while he mourned and missed her every day she was gone, but now she’s here as they kiss.

Update written by Joseph

Tate teaches Brady self defense at home. Brady calls him a good teacher and he’s proud of how good he is at this. Tate says it’s nice to teach outside of the gym so he thanks Brady for working with him. Brady says he should be thanking him as Tate is getting him ready to face all the bad guys as a private investigator. Sarah arrives with a box from the bakery, so Brady jokes that Tate is turning him in to a ninja. Sarah says she just wanted to stop by and let him know she’s thinking about him.

Belle and Marlena sit together at the Brady Pub, talking about how they can’t believe it’s been a year since John passed away. Belle talks about having a dream about him last night. Marlena mentions going to the cemetary today. Belle says she went yesterday and offers to go again but Marlena thinks she’d like to be alone. Belle says she understands and suggests they all get together for a family dinner tonight to raise a glass to John.

At the book store, Lani is looking at a book on breast cancer until Julie comes over and asks if everything is alright. Lani says she’s fine but a friend was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Lani then declares things just got even better as Eli arrives. Lani exclaims that he’s home as she rushes up to hug him. Lani says she’s missed him so much as Julie comes over to hug him. Julie questions if Eli was supposed to be here today. Lani says it was supposed to be tomorrow and she had a whole welcoming party. Eli says he missed them both so much that he couldn’t wait to get there.

Tate thanks Sarah for the pastries she brought from the bakery. Brady suggests Sarah join them sometime for a workout. Tate talks about working up an appetite. Brady asks Sarah about Xander being back in the house. Sarah says it’s been okay so far as they’ve been staying out of each other’s way. Brady suggests they have dinner tonight. Sarah says she’d love to but she promised Kayla that she would volunteer at the clinic. Sarah promises they will have dinner soon. Brady says it can’t be soon enough as they kiss and Sarah then exits. Tate comes back in and comments that he hasn’t seen Brady this happy in awhile and it’s really nice.

Belle goes to the police station to meet with Amy Choi in the interrogation room. Belle tells her that she’s so sorry for her loss and asks what she can do for her. Amy declares that she would like to bring manslaughter charges against Holly Jonas.

Lani tells Eli that the twins are with Paulina as she said she could use the distraction and cheering up. Eli can’t believe Paulina walked away from her marriage without a fight. Lani says she was adamant that it was the right thing to do and she was being selfless, sacrificing her own needs for Abe and Theo. Julie calls that love, pure and true. Lani agrees but knows when the situation calls for it, the Price women will put up a hell of a fight.

Marlena goes to see Brady. Marlena mentions having breakfast with Belle while Brady talks about trying to distract himself. Marlena reveals that she brought the chess set that Stefano left her.

Belle tells Amy that she understands her request. Amy argues that Sophia may be gone because of Holly’s actions, so she wants Holly to pay to protect anyone from suffering the same fate. Amy declares that if Sophia wasn’t mercilessly bullied, she would still be with them. Belle understands why she believes that, but asks how she intends to prove it. Amy reveals that she has the evidence on her phone.

Holly goes to the hospital and tells Sarah that she needs her help.

Julie says she has to get back to work. Eli offers to help but Julie urges them to get out and enjoy the day. Eli hugs Julie as he and Lani exit. Foster then arrives. Julie tells him that he’s not scheduled to work today. Foster responds that he came to see her.

Marlena tells Brady and Tate that she has no interest in keeping the chess set and that it was actually left for John, so it didn’t feel right for her to just throw it away and she decided to see if they want it. Brady isn’t sure he wants it either but he will take it off her hands. Marlena tells them that she stopped to see Rachel yesterday and she’s doing so much better. Brady says he’s just really worried about telling her the news about Sophia. Tate agrees that it’s bound to upset her. Marlena asks if Brady and Kristen plan to tell her together. Brady confirms they do and asks if Marlena has any advice on how to handle that. Marlena advises him to just tell her the truth and answer any questions honestly while making sure she knows they are there for her. Marlena says she’s so sorry that Sophia couldn’t find a different way to deal with her pain and she’s afraid now that everyone around her is in pain.

Holly tells Sarah that she doesn’t know what to do as her life feels totally out of control right now. Sarah asks what’s going on. Holly responds that she can’t sleep and keeps going over everything she ever said to Sophia. Holly adds that it doesn’t get better during the day and she couldn’t concentrate on her finals while she gets weirdly anxious around her friends. Sarah asks if she has any physical symptoms. Holly says not really except sweaty palms and no appetite, but it’s mostly her mind as she keeps going back and forth from feeling horribly guilty to how she treated Sophia to being so angry because Amy thinks Sophia’s death was her fault, so she starts to wonder if maybe it was. Holly complains that she doesn’t want to feel like this and asks Sarah if there’s something she can do because she can’t keep feeling like this.

Amy reads the comments Holly made on a public message board. Belle responds that she’s aware of the posts and she’s so sorry that Sophia had to read such disturbing things about herself. Amy calls it downright cruel. Belle agrees but says the investigative team analyzed the social media page and found that the original thread was started by Sophia. Amy questions why Sophia would do that. Belle suggests that she was trying to entice her classmates to support her or maybe she was trying to provoke Holly. Belle adds that since multiple others commented on the thread, accusing Holly won’t hold up in court. Amy argues that Holly wasn’t just harassing Sophia on social media and was saying these things to Sophia in person repeatedly. Belle says they have investigated the case and brings up Holly attempting to make amends including visiting Bayview. Amy complains that it didn’t stop Holly from continuing to torment her daughter. Belle tells Amy that if this case went to court, everything Sophia did would go public including the attempt on Johnny’s life, the fabricated sexting photos, and now the police have forensics evidence showing Sophia switched her anti-psychotic meds with Holly’s vitamins and used Rachel as her courier.

Brady thanks Marlena for visiting Rachel. Marlena says she loves her and is relieved to see how well she’s doing in treatment. Marlena asks how Holly is. Tate admits she’s not doing very well. Tate says that he and Ari have encouraged her to talk to somebody about the Sophia situation but doesn’t think they have gotten through to her. Marlena says she’d be glad to talk to her if it would help. Tate says that would be awesome and they’d really appreciate it. Tate says he’s going to meet Holly so he goes to get ready. Marlena informs Brady that she and Belle are meeting for supper tonight where they will make a toast to John, so she invites Brady to join them. Brady says he wouldn’t miss it.

Sarah is glad Holly opened up to her as it breaks her heart to see her struggling. Sarah wishes she could do more, but she’s not a psychiatrist so she thinks Holly should see one. Sarah recommends Dr. Fuller. Holly questions if talk therapy is really going to help her. Sarah says that Dr. Fuller can also prescribe medication. Holly complains that she’d be taking pills just like Sophia did. Sarah encourages that mental health issues are nothing to be ashamed of. Sarah says she’s proud of her for admitting she needs help and that she should be proud of herself.

Foster tells Julie that he heard a rumor she was short handed lately, so he thought he’d come help out. Julie says nobody expects him to help out on his day off. Foster repeats that he really came to see her, but while he’s there he can organize a display table and rearrange some of the bookshelves, then maybe they can have a talk or more of a question.

Eli and Lani sit together in the town square. Lani says she’s so happy he’s there. Eli knows it’s a tough time for her mom and she can use all the support she can get. Lani says it’s more than that actually. Eli asks what’s wrong. Lani says she needs to tell him something, but he has to promise not to say anything to anyone because Chanel doesn’t want anyone to know as she needs more time to process it. Lani reveals to Eli that Chanel had a biopsy done and it turns out she has breast cancer which shocks Eli. Lani says it’s apparently aggressive and her being pregnant makes treatment complicated. Eli tells her that he’s so sorry. Lani says it feels like just weeks ago, Chanel had everything she wanted. Lani encourages that Chanel is so strong and has so much to live for, so she has to be okay. Eli hugs Lani as she gets emotional.

Amy questions what kind of evidence they have. Belle explains that Sophia’s fingerprints were found on Holly’s skin supplement bottle which means Holly was telling the truth that they were switched out. Amy calls that ridiculous and argues that Sophia’s prints could’ve been on there for any number of reasons. Belle says she’s sorry but her office doesn’t see it that way. Amy questions if lack of evidence is the only reason Belle won’t get involved or if it’s because Holly is dating her nephew and she claims Rachel was helping Sophia switch the pills. Belle assures her views on the case have nothing to do with her personal connection to it. Belle says all of her colleagues came to the same conclusion and she’s certain that any other attorney would tell her the same thing. Belle states that her daughter also suffered from mental health issues, so trying to pursue this case will only be painful for her and her family. Amy responds that it won’t be as painful as allowing her daughter’s death to go unanswered.

Julie calls Marlena and leaves a message, saying she was just thinking about her and sending her love. Julie tells her to call her anytime she feels like talking and suggests they plan a dinner sometime this week. Julie hangs up and goes back to Foster, telling him that she had forgotten today is the first anniversary of John Black’s death, so she wanted to talk to Marlena but she didn’t answer. Foster states that first anniversaries can be really tough and relates to when his wife passed. Foster says he was impressed with himself that he got through a year without her as it didn’t seem possible. Julie relates to how she was on the anniversary of Doug’s passing. Julie says when she lost Doug, she thought she lost her place and purpose in the world but she’s beginning to discover who she is going to be next as now she’s a business woman with the book store which has helped a lot.

Marlena tells Brady that she will see him for supper and tells Tate it was good to see him as they hug. Marlena says she loves them both so much as she exits. Tate tells Brady that he’s supposed to go meet Holly, but says they can watch an old spy movie in John’s honor. Brady appreciates his offer but tells him to go see Holly and have fun, so Tate exits. Brady then sits down with a photo of John.

Holly tells Sarah that she doesn’t think she can take more meds after what happened with Sophia’s meds. Sarah encourages that it will be the right meds and the proper dose that she needs, so she goes to write her referral.

Eli tells Lani that maybe it’s not a coincidence that they decided to move back to Salem when they did and that a higher power brought them back to show Paulina and Chanel a lot of love which Lani agrees with.

Brady looks at the chess set that Marlena left until Belle shows up at the door. Belle says she knows they are having dinner today but she wanted to spend time with just him. Brady says he was going to call her but it’s better to see her. Belle sees the chess set, so Brady explains that Marlena brought it over since she didn’t want in her place but didn’t want to throw it out. Brady admits he was going to put it somewhere in storage out of sight, but curiosity got the better of him.

Eli and Lani stand in the town square as Lani says she’s sure his grandparents Tom and Alice are happy to have him back in town. Eli always feels they are watching over them. Lani adds that the twins will be so happy to have him home and asks if they should go pick them up from Paulina. Eli suggests Paulina can hold down the fort a little longer as he was thinking they could go home where she can help him unpack as they kiss.

Foster tells Julie that the one thing he hasn’t gotten the hang of since his wife passed is cooking. Julie asks what Foster wanted to talk to her about earlier. Foster says he feels a bit awkward as he lost his nerve. Julie encourages him to say whatever he wants to say. Foster calls it more of a question and asks if she’d like to have dinner with him this evening. Julie says she would be delighted to.

Tate meets Holly in the town square. Holly tells him that she just got done visiting Sarah at the hospital and talking through what she’s been feeling. Holly informs Tate that Sarah recommended a psychiatrist and apparently she just needs to work through what happened. Tate assures that he’s always there for her and they will work through it together as he hugs her.

Brady and Belle set up the chess table until they realize it has a pawn missing.

Marlena brings flowers to John’s grave and says she will always love him. Marlena picks up a penny and says John sent it from Heaven just to remind her that he’ll always be there.

Update written by Joseph

Chanel is at home reading up on her tumor as Johnny wakes up from falling asleep on the couch. Chanel tells him that she’s glad he got a little bit of rest, though she didn’t because she’s too wound up. Chanel says she thought she’d be more prepared to hear her cancer diagnosis since she’s heard it before, so she didn’t expect it to be such a shock. Chanel guesses she was just holding out hope for a miracle as Johnny hugs her.

Theo is at home, looking at photos of Abe and Paulina on the mantle. Abe then comes home and greets him. Theo asks how Lexie is. Abe responds that she’s great and could be discharged today. Theo calls that amazing. Abe says he just came by to change and get the place ready for Lexie to come home. Theo guesses it’s a good thing that Paulina moved the rest of her things out last night then.

EJ visits Lexie in the hospital. Lexie jokes that she was wondering when he would come say hello to this pricey little experiment of his. EJ calls it a very successful experiment and notes her being more animated since he saw her last. Lexie says the doctors don’t know about her surge of energy or what to expect going forward from this medical miracle. Lexie tells EJ that she doesn’t understand, so she’s hoping he can enlighten her.

Arianna lays in bed crying. She picks up her phone and looks at the unanswered text messages she’s sent to Liam, questioning him leaving town without saying goodbye, asking where he went and why he’s not answering her. She puts her phone down and screams in to her pillow until Gabi comes in. Arianna informs Gabi that she hardly slept at all because Liam left town.

Javi runs in to Leo outside of the Pub. Leo says he knows he’s supposed to respect his privacy and boundaries, but he wanted to make sure he was okay after he didn’t see him at Sophia’s memorial service. Javi says he wanted to be but had to work. Leo guesses that means he wasn’t suspended for going in to Johnny and Chanel’s apartment without his equipment. Javi confirms that he wasn’t but he’s been relegated to desk duty and station maintenance. Javi repeats that he wanted to be at Sophia’s service and sent her parents a condolences note. Leo calls him the most thoughtful man he’s ever known. Javi relates to what Sophia’s parents are going through and says he’s always grateful to Sophia for bringing Trey in to the world.

Johnny tells Chanel that they don’t need a miracle as there are so many effective treatments available these days, so he knows she will be okay. Chanel argues that he can’t know that. Johnny encourages positive thinking and chooses to believe they will win this fight together. Chanel agrees that positive thinking can be helpful but says that’s different from being in denial and avoiding the truth. Chanel says she’s been reading a lot about it and thinks it’s important that at least one of them is a realist.

Theo asks Abe if he’s getting a divorce or if his marriage to Paulina is invalid now. Abe responds that there will be a time and place to sort out all the legalities. Abe knows he’s used to clear-cut right and wrong decisions. Theo knows people will be hurt no matter what. Abe says he’s struggled with making the right decision here but then Paulina walked away and made the decision for him. Theo comments on Paulina always putting the people she cares about first. Abe calls that one of the reasons he fell in love with her. Theo asks if Abe still loves Paulina now.

Lexie tells EJ that there isn’t a cure for sepsis. EJ responds that a lot has changed and a doctor at this very hospital created a drug that could regenerate tissue and Dr. Rolf mixed it with a formula that he had developed which was able to cure her tumor. Lexie questions being patient zero in this formula. EJ jokes that a thank you would be nice while Lexie argues that she’s a woman of science and doesn’t believe in resurrections. EJ asks what she thinks happened here. Lexie asks where Dr. Rolf is as she thought he would be monitoring her 24/7. EJ is afraid that Dr. Rolf is unable to appear in public at the moment, so he’s asked him to maintain data points to ensure her recovery is proceeding smoothly. Lexie questions what kind of data points. EJ calls it nothing to lose sleep over as he’s just there to collect a small blood sample. Lexie questions if he became a phlebotomist. EJ asks why he would need medical expertise when he has hers as he presents her with the needles to use on herself.

Abe assures Theo that he didn’t just stop loving Paulina because Lexie came back and apologizes for the toll it’s taking on him. Theo says it’s not just that so Abe insists on knowing what’s got him upset. Theo explains that a friend of his accused him of doing something he didn’t do and assumed the worst of him. Theo complains that he’s not just upset, he’s pissed as hell.

Arianna tells Gabi that Liam left town and didn’t say why or even tell her, complaining that he’s not answering her messages and is totally ghosting her while she has no idea why. Gabi tries to tell her that she’s sorry but Arianna argues that this is what Gabi wanted all along. Ari declares it’s Gabi’s fault that he left town.

Leo tells Javi that the months they spent raising Tesoro were the happiest of his life and he thinks about him every day. Javi recalls being terrified of losing him when he thought he was in Johnny’s apartment. Leo praises him as a hero for saving Johnny’s life. Javi says he should get going. Leo hopes he didn’t make him uncomfortable. Javi says he’s just late to meet his boyfriend, Gus.

Chanel talks to Johnny about doing research on her situation. Johnny assures he will be by her side every step of the way. Chanel says she really needs his support, but that he can’t say her life is more important than the baby’s, reminding him that’s what he said when she first got pregnant. Chanel believes that’s what Johnny is thinking now. Johnny admits that he wasn’t sure at first if her getting pregnant was worth the risk but says they are in a completely different situation now. Johnny says all they can do now is listen to the doctor’s recommendations and go from there. Johnny promises to be a realist but that doesn’t mean he’ll be a pessimist as he knows nothing is guaranteed. Johnny states that decisions have to be made and she will be the one who makes them, so he will respect that. Johnny repeats that he’ll be with her every step of the way and he knows no one will fight harder to beat this than her as he hugs her and calls her his hero.

Leo tries to fight off getting upset over Javi’s new boyfriend as Javi walks away.

Gabi asks how it’s her fault that Liam left town. Arianna argues that she was a raving lunatic when she found out who he was and complains that she was horrible to him. Ari says just when she thought they were going to see if they could be something more, he vanishes because what guy wants to deal with an overprotective, crazy mother. Gabi questions if Liam left town because she made him slightly uncomfortable or if he pissed off the wrong people and had to get out of dodge. Ari says that Liam said he was done with all that and turning over a new leaf, so she believed him. Gabi suggests she didn’t know him as well as she thought.

Theo talks about how this friend had been great and supportive until now and with everything going on with Lexie and messing things up with Jada, he can’t help but feel like he’s on the verge of melting down. Abe encourages that it’s okay as it would be a lot for anyone to handle. Theo argues that he wanted to show his mom how far he came from the little boy in the psychiatrist office and he wanted her to be proud of him. Abe assures that she is proud of him and he is as well, every moment of every day.

After Lexie gives EJ her blood sample, Lexie asks EJ how Dr. Rolf plans to monitor her vitals from whatever bunker he’s hiding in. EJ reminds her that he owns the hospital, so he’s made sure Dr. Rolf has a backdoor to the server to access all of her records. EJ asks how Lexie is feeling psychologically as he imagines the whole experience has been intense. Lexie declares that she’s feeling a lot more at ease, knowing Paulina is out of their lives for good. EJ calls that a welcome bit of news, but admits he didn’t expect Abe to kick her to the curb so soon. Lexie reveals that he didn’t and that Paulina walked away, choosing not to get in the way of their lives. Lexie admits it was surprising because she gathered that Paulina is not a quitter. EJ agrees that Paulina is tough but warns that if she decides to unquit, he’ll make sure she regrets it.

Gabi argues that Arianna only knew what Liam wanted her to know and questions if he told her about his parents or his childhood. Ari admits she didn’t and calls herself stupid. She complains that she really liked him and Liam trying to push her away made her like him even more. Ari thought she finally met someone. Gabi praises her and encourages that she’ll meet someone great. Arianna talks about having a front row seat all year to Holly and Tate and all of her friends falling in love, so she just kept thinking when is it going to be her turn. She says she let herself fall so hard even though she and Liam weren’t even dating, while now she’s all alone again and it really sucks. Gabi assures that she knows.

Theo questions what Abe is proud of, arguing that he’s unemployed and living with his parents. Abe points out that he did amazing things in South Africa and was CEO of a multi-national conglomerate. Theo points out that he stepped down out of respect for his mom. Abe encourages that Lexie is incredibly proud of that. Theo is not sure what lies ahead for his future, career-wise. Abe tells him to take it easy and not rush things. Theo feels he can’t wait too long and says that they are a family again so they all have to figure out what the new normal is.

Lexie guesses EJ is not a fan of Paulina. EJ says they tolerate each other for their children but they’ve had their share of dust ups. Lexie is glad someone feels about her the way she does and questions how Abe could fall for someone like her. EJ says he’s not one to defend Paulina but feels she’s being considerably less charitable than the sister he remembers. Lexie argues that it’s because she wanted her family back and Paulina had them. Lexie calls Paulina arrogant and complains about the way she carried herself and her tone when she came to see her as if letting her have her husband was some grand act of heroism. EJ remarks that if he didn’t know better, he’d think she was talking about herself.

Chanel tells Johnny that she’s so grateful to have him by her side through everything. Chanel knows they’ve been dealing with a lot of sadness but they have to remember all they have to be grateful for. They agree they wouldn’t change what they have for the world.

Javi meets his boyfriend Gus in the town square and kisses him, saying he’s feeling grateful to be his boyfriend. Gus asks if something is up. Javi admits he ran in to Leo at the Pub. Gus asks if he behaved himself. Javi says he surprisingly did but it was so awkward. Gus offers to help Javi forget about him and they kiss as Leo walks in to the town square and sees them. Javi admits to Gus that Leo was asking questions about him, like how long he will be in town. Gus responds that he has a lot of PTO, so he plans to stick around awhile. Javi points out that a guy transferred at his department and that Gus could apply if he decides to stick around Salem for good, while Leo remains watching from behind the bush.

Chanel tells Johnny that a year ago, her biggest worry was whether people would boycott her bakery and now that seems small since Johnny nearly lost his life and she’s dealing with her illness. Chanel says it reminds her how precious every moment is, especially with him. Johnny tells Chanel that he loves her so much as they kiss.

Lexie questions EJ seriously comparing her to Paulina. EJ calls it a compliment and jokes that it just means Abe has a type. Lexie threatens to have him escorted out while EJ tells her that he’s just getting a rise out of her like old times. EJ admits that he likes seeing the DiMera side of her and says for far too long, she shunned that part of herself. EJ declares that unlike other pretenders, it runs in her blood and their family legacy is a very big part of her, whether she likes it or not.

Abe agrees with Theo that they do have to figure out what the new normal is, but right now he could use some help in getting the place ready for Lexie. Abe wants it to look it’s best and for Lexie to feel comfortable there. Theo asks about the pictures on the mantle with Paulina and if he should move them somewhere else. Abe says it doesn’t feel right taking them down. Theo points out that it doesn’t feel right having them up either.

Arianna apologizes to Gabi for going on about a guy she knew for ten minutes when she just broke up with Philip. Gabi insists that she’ll be fine. Ari knows how much Philip meant to her and asks if there’s a way they can work things out. Gabi says she doesn’t think so since she betrayed his trust and when that happens, it’s next to impossible to win it back.

Leo continues watching as Javi tells Gus that he’ll put in a good word for him, but they will fill the position soon. Javi knows Gus’s job, family, and his whole life is in Texas. Gus admits he wasn’t sold on the idea of staying in Salem before, but he’s come to realize he doesn’t want to be apart from Javi again. Javi calls that amazing and kisses him. Javi decides he will show Gus around, so they walk off together, leaving Leo looking sad.

Arianna remains in bed and sadly looks at her phone again. Gabi brings her bread that she baked. Arianna recalls her grandmother saying all the kids baked that when they were feeling heartbroken and that it calmed the nerves. Gabi suggests making them a spa appointment. Ari knows they’ve had disagreements lately, but she wants Gabi to know that she loves her and she’s really grateful that no matter what happens, she can always trust her as she hugs her.

Theo pulls out an old framed photo of Lexie which Abe recalls being taken. Abe decides they’re all set and suggests Theo go visit Lexie, adding that he could use the help in getting her home. Theo thanks Abe for the pep talk. They say they love each other as Theo then exits. Abe turns to the mantle and replaces Paulina’s photo with Lexie.

Lexie tells EJ that he’s wrong as she’s not ashamed of being a DiMera, she just has reservations about how her son fits in to that world. Lexie acknowledges that she and Theo are DiMeras, but also Carvers, so she thinks it’s important to find the right balance for Theo’s sake. EJ says he has to get going and thanks her for the blood sample, as he’s sure Dr. Rolf will be very happy with what he finds. EJ calls her a model patient and exits.

As Chanel and Johnny kiss, Johnny feels the baby kick. Johnny says this baby and Trey are lucky to have the best mom anyone could ask for. Johnny talks about being given perspective lately and says he’s cherishing feeling the baby kick big time. Chanel agrees with every precious moment as they feel more kicks.
