Brooke: No. No, I’m sure I didn’t hear you right.

Rj: I’m sorry, mom. I really– I wanted to tell you and dad. I did, but granddad, he– he insisted he didn’t want anyone to know.

Brooke: So, this is really– really true? Eric is– he’s dying?

Donna: Okay. Okay. Why don’t we just sit down for a minute? It’s been a really big day.

Eric: An amazing day.

Donna: Yes. Yes, an amazing day. But also lots of stress and lots of pressure. I– I’m sure you– you must be tired.

Eric: No. No, quite the opposite. I mean, I’m so– I’m so excited. I really am. I’m all fired up. Wow.

Donna: Okay. Okay. Okay, let’s just sit down for a minute. Okay? Please?

Eric: No, no, no. Donna, I think I did it. I think I did it. I think– I think I sold out every piece. I could see it in the eyes of the buyers, multiple bids on, uh, on each gown. This is my finest collection. It really is. The best. I think I beat ridge.

Ridge: Hey, carter. It’s not what best friends do, right? Come on. You said one collection sold out, okay?

Carter: It was close, but one designer was victorious.

Ridge: You’re not gonna tell me? What do you? My– my dad is my dad. He’s an icon. He’s– he’s done amazing things long, long ago. That’s history. If we want to move forward with this company, it’s got to be me. So… what do we have?

Brooke: Rj, no. No, it can’t be. You must have misunderstood or something.

Rj: No. I– I wish I had. He’s been sick and– and it’s been getting worse. I’m sorry, the doctor said he only had a few months left to live. But that’s– that’s why he keeps calling this his grand finale. That’s why he wants so bad to win today.

Katie: All right. Follow me. We will finalize your bids. And this is amazing, I recognize it from a winter collection. Oh, look, this is my sister, donna.

Mr. Lords: What a remarkable show.

Buyer 1: Oh, we were just telling eric how honored we were to be included. One of the best shows I’ve ever witnessed.

Donna: Oh, thank you. Thank you. It was our pleasure to have you in attendance.

Buyer 2: The collection was truly inspired.

Donna: Thank you.

Katie: All right. Just follow me this way. We are gonna finalize your bids. Get you a little forrester swag.

Luna: It was remarkable.

Donna: Yeah. Yeah, it really was, wasn’t it? But we still don’t know who won, ridge or eric?

Ridge: You’re not gonna give me the numbers? You’re not gonna tell me? Don’t make me call jeresa and take that necklace back.

[ Carter laughing ] All right. And there it is. I won. I beat my dad.

Eric: We should know the results by now. I mean, it’s a surprise we haven’t heard from ridge.

Donna: Oh, I’m sure he’s just licking his wounds.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Losing for somebody like ridge is going to be a big bruise to his oversized ego.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Yeah.

Eric: Yeah.

Katie: So, how’s it feel? Your first show under your belt?

Luna: I mean, it’s– it’s pretty surreal to be a part of this. Like, from eric’s design team to helping you and your staff and it was definitely an organizational feat.

Katie: Well, it was a team effort.

Luna: It was awesome to be a part of it. But seriously, you are like a machine.

Katie: Well, it wasn’t hard. The designs were breathtaking. All I had to do was frame the narrative and let ridge and eric shine. Rj deserved a little bit of that sparkle too.

Luna: Yeah, I’m– I’m really proud of him.

Katie: Picking up on that. You really care about him. You know, don’t you?

Luna: Uh, uh, about eric?

Katie: Yeah.

Luna: Yeah. Um, rj confided in me about that.

Katie: It’s pretty big.

Luna: Yeah, I mean, you know, it’s been really hard for him to keep the secret. He loves his granddad and he wants to do right by him, but, you know, I also know that he feels really guilty for not telling his parents about it, especially his father.

Brooke: Oh, I can’t believe this. I can’t believe that eric is dying.

Rj: It’s been awful. It– it– it has just been so hard not to just tell you and dad. I…

Brooke: Honey, it’s okay.

Rj: It’s not.

Brooke: I understand. You were just taking care of your grandfather and that is admirable.

Rj: No, but every– every single time that dad was in there, he was asking me, “is my dad okay? Is granddad, okay?” I was– I was fighting not to tell him. I was trying so hard because he– I’m sorry, is my dad gonna hate me for not telling him? I should have told him, right?

Brooke: First of all, your father is never going to hate you. You can’t keep this a secret. You’ve got to tell your father. He deserves to know about his dad, okay?

Rj: Okay. I’m sorry, mom. I’m sorry.

Ridge: I won. I beat my dad on the runway. That’s his domain. Do you know what that means? My vision for forrester is correct.

Carter: Yes, it is. And I’m sorry for making you squirm, but it was really fun to watch, man. Congratulations. It’s a hard-fought battle, but you earned it.

Ridge: Yeah. It was a battle. I didn’t want that. He wanted it. He pushed it and he got it and he lost. And if it’s okay, I’m– I wanna be the one to tell him.

Carter: Ridge.

Ridge: Just look, I’m gonna do it the right way. I respect him. I love him. But I think it has to be me, all right? Hey.

Brooke: Hi. We need to talk to you, ridge. Carter, could you give us a minute?

Carter: Of course. Good job today, man.

Ridge: Actually, I was about to go down to the showroom and talk to dad about the fashion show–

Brooke: Okay. That can wait.

Ridge: It can wait? You don’t want to know who won?

Brooke: Um, something more important that we need to discuss.

Ridge: More important than that? I get– what?

Rj: Dad.

Ridge: Okay, okay. All right. Okay. All right. All right. I won. And I’m sorry, man. I– I know the work you did with granddad was amazing and your time will come, but not right now. Right now, it’s me. And, um, I would have been happy for you, if it were you. But can you be happy for me?

Brooke: Of course, we’re happy for you.

Rj: No, of course. Yes, your line was beautiful, but–

Ridge: Thank you.

Rj: No, we need to talk though.

Ridge: Come on. Can’t it wait? I want to talk to dad and see what he’s gonna say.

Rj: No! No! It can’t wait. We need– we need to talk now, okay? There’s no more time for this.

Ridge: Ah, dude. What’s going on here?

Brooke: Honey, do you want to tell him?

Ridge: What? Tell me what?

Rj: That– that I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry. Dad. Granddad’s dying.

Katie: I can see the toll this is taking on rj. Keeping this secret from his parents. I mean, even before I knew it was going on, I just chalked it up to nerves. First time designing, but what he’s doing for his grandfather, supporting him the way he is. It’s pretty incredible.

Luna: Yeah. I mean, he’s– he’s a really good guy. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone like him.

Katie: Well, he’s gonna need your support over the next few months. It’s not gonna be easy on him. It’s not gonna be easy on any of us. I mean, eric’s presence has always just seemed like, given. I can’t really imagine life without him.

Luna: Well, I’m gonna do whatever I can to be there and support rj.

Katie: Good. And we’ll do whatever we can to support eric. It just seems so unreal. But eric is gonna know how much we love him. I’ll make sure of it.

Eric: This is taking so long. Why– why is it taking? It shouldn’t take this long?

Donna: Okay. Okay. First of all, it has not been that long. And– and ridge is carter’s best friend. Of course, he’s gonna share the results with him first.

Eric: Yeah. I mean, what if– what if ridge wins? I mean, I’m just trying to be realistic here. I mean, ridge is a wonderful designer. He’s one of the– he’s one of the best in the world.

Donna: Oh, and you’re not?

Eric: Yes. Yeah, but he put on a really good show.

Donna: Eric…

Eric: I mean, what if he wins? What if he pulls it off?

Donna: No. Hey. Are you okay?

Eric: I’m okay.

Ridge: What are you talking about? My dad is dying. What is that?

Brooke: Ridge, I’m sorry. It’s a shock–

Ridge: No, no, no. Hang on, hang on. All right. Um, why are you saying these things?

Brooke: Just tell him what you told me?

Rj: Okay. Grandad, he came to me and he asked me to help him to design because he was struggling. He– he was having these tremors in his hand and he wasn’t able to design. He said that it was carpal tunnel or arthritis. And so, I just– I wanted to help him and– and he could mentor me, and–

Ridge: Okay. I heard what you said, right. So, how did it come from that to dying? I– I don’t get it.

Rj: Well, the symptoms– his symptoms got worse. Sorry. And– and the doctor said they couldn’t figure out what’s wrong with him.

Ridge: Okay. Worse how? Tell me. What–

Rj: He said that it was– it was T.I.A. Strokes. And then… I’m sorry, dad, he started coughing up blood.

Ridge: And this is the first I’m hearing about this? Right now?

Brooke: Eric didn’t want him to say anything to anybody.

Rj: I’m sorry. I wanted to. I wanted to. I sat– I stood right here and I wanted to tell you, but I couldn’t because I didn’t want to betray him. He said he didn’t want anybody to know about it. But, especially you.

Ridge: Me? My father didn’t want his son to know?

Rj: Well, he said he didn’t want anyone’s pity and– and that he wouldn’t be able to stand it.

Ridge: Oh, okay.

Rj: But dad, that this– but this– this is why he wanted to complete this last collection so bad and– and why he–

Ridge: I got it!

Rj: I’m sorry.

Ridge: All right. So my father, the man who’s given me everything, he’s dying. That’s– that’s where we are. Yes? Is that it?

Rj: I’m sorry. I’m–

Donna: Eric, please. You, listen, you’ve got to take care of yourself. You are not well, and you cannot get yourself so worked up.

Eric: Worked up. Worked up?

Donna: Yes.

Eric: Donna, you saw this. You saw this collection. You saw it as some of the finest work of my life. This– this is my finest achievement, my greatest achievement. But this could easily be my– the final designs of my life. If I don’t win this, it’s over. All of it. I’m afraid that, uh, I’ll lose the excitement and– and the anticipation and the thrill of watching buyers bid on these– these wonderful pieces that we do. Oh, god. Let alone getting my office back. If I– if I don’t win this, it’s all over.

Donna: Stop. Stop talking like that. Okay, I can’t stand–

Eric: All right. All right. All right. Listen.

Donna: …Talking like that.

Eric: It’s all right. I understand that this is probably my last collection. I– I accept it. I– I’ve come– I’ve come to a peaceful place for that. But I– I just can’t wait for the end– the final tally. That’s what I wanna know. I wanna know how this ends up. Uh, uh, have you heard anything? Have you heard anything from ridge and from carter about this?

Katie: No, no, not anything yet.

Luna: Yeah. He said it should take some time.

Eric: It shouldn’t take this much time. It’s taking too long. Come on. Let’s– let’s– I don’t want to wait. Let’s find out– let’s find out what’s going on. Let’s go to the office. Come on.

Ridge: My dad is dying. Well, that doesn’t seem real, does it?

Brooke: No, it doesn’T. He is the backbone of this family and I don’t know what we’re gonna do without him.

Rj: Dad, I’m so sorry. There were so many times that I came so close to tell– we stood right here and I– I wanted to tell you, but I could hear him pleading with me in my head not to tell you and I just didn’t wanna– I just didn’t want to let him down. You understand that, right?

Ridge: Yeah. Sure. How long does he have? Do you know?

Rj: The doctor says he has a few months.

Brooke: This was a great burden for you to carry, sweetheart, but you did right by your grandfather. You need to know that.

Rj: I– I don’t know if I’ve done right by my father, mom.

Ridge: We’re fine. Um, so this is why you worked with granddad? This is why?

Rj: Yes, I needed him. He needed me. I mean, you know how I felt about the family business when I got back to L.A. He– he made me realize I have a passion for this, dad. I love this. I– I wanna do this for the rest of my life and I wouldn’t have that if– if he didn’t show me that. I don’t know how I’m gonna be able to repay him for that.

Ridge: I’m proud of you.

Rj: I love him.

Ridge: Well, we all love him, son. We all do.

Brooke: We are strong and we are resilient and we will get through this together, as a family.

Rj: Dad, you– you get now, why he– you know why he wanted to win the fashion challenge so bad, right? It– it was just because he wanted to solidify his legacy. That’s why he wanted to do this, the whole grand finale.

Eric: Well, here you all are. In my office. Why am I not surprised? Well, I assume from your silence that you know who won the fashion challenge? And I can see from the look on your faces that you know.

Ridge: Yeah, I know.

Eric: So, what’s the count, ridge? Who won this thing? You or me?

Katie: A vision in white. This magical creation will transform you to a place of fantasy and illusion. You’ll be floating on a cloud swept up in a dream. Forrester has pulled out all the stops with this look. Number 19.

Katie: This gown is a red-carpet vision of old hollywood meets modern elegance. It has a beaded diamond and crystal bodice. This stunning creation captures our imagination with a dramatic silk pleated bow, which flares to the ground to complete the train.

Esther: Oh, I have never, ever seen anything so beautiful. What– what– what number is it?

Lauren: Well, by your dot system…. 20.

Esther: Oh. Wow.

Countess: It’s not that bad.

Katie: Ladies and gentlemen, the designers behind the beautiful, stunning creations that we have had the privilege to see today, eric forrester and ridge forrester.

[ Audience applauding ]

Katie: Now, if any of you were inspired by what you saw, please make sure to get your orders in before it’s too late. Thank you for joining us at the house of forrester.

Ridge: Hell of a showing.

Eric: Yeah. My part of it, it was anyway.

Ridge: Wow. Okay.

[ Laughing ]

Ridge: May the best man win.

Eric: May the best man win. Yes.

[ Coughing ] You know that feeling of having to

Ridge: It’s a simple question. Do you have all the orders?

Carter: I was letting the champagne combat any indecisiveness, but I’ll be tabulating the orders soon.

Ridge: You’ll be– you’ll be tabulating? Wow. Look up tabulating. Just count ’em all up and tell me that I won.

Zende: It’s gonna be tight. You and your dad, though, you put together some amazing looks.

Paris: Sure did. And our donors for the foundation definitely agree. You should see the comments online.

Carter: So, does anyone know today was really a battle between you and eric?

Ridge: Hey.

Lauren: Hi. Well, esther insisted on hand delivering–

Esther: My order number.

[ Both laughing ]

Ridge: Well, that is a very good choice, mrs. Valentine.

Esther: Oh. Oh, please. Call me esther.

Ridge: Esther. Okay.

Countess: Almost forgot. My order.

Esther: Oh. That’s the same one that I wanted.

Countess: I don’t have to remind you what a longstanding, extremely influential patron of forrester creations I am.

Carter: We’re very aware.

Countess: Under no circumstances will I wear a gown owned by this simpleton.

Lauren: Excuse me?

Ridge: It’s all right. I got this. Um, I’m sorry, esther, but you put in your request first. So it’s– it’s your gown. Yours alone.

Countess: You can’t be serious! Ridge, look at her! She carries a feather duster in her handbag.

Ridge: Countess, sorry.

Countess: You have made a very big mistake. I will never buy another forrester original again. Or shop at fenmores.

Lauren: Such a pity.

Esther: So… this gown… it’s mine?

Ridge: It’s yours, esther.

Esther: Oh. If mrs. Chancellor could see me now.

Lauren: Something tells me she had something to do with it. I’m so happy for you.

Ridge: Well, don’t forget you gotta come back for a fitting and, um, possible dinner.

Esther: I would be happy to return to los angeles. I can’t believe it. This is a dream come true. After all these years I’m finally getting a gown as beautiful as mrs. Chancellor’S.

Lauren: Aww. You deserve it.

[ Laughing ]

Luna: It is gotta be tough for you. But look, I know you’re dealing with a lot. And I know that you’re super worried about your granddad. But you also have to take a moment and realize what a major accomplishment you just had today. Your first fashion show.

Rj: I appreciate it. I’m– I’m proud of what we did today, but it’s hard for me to even think about it when all I’m doing is worrying about my granddad.

Brooke: Oh. Uh…

Rj: Hi.

Brooke: [ Chuckles ] Hi. Uh, sorry. Uh, I don’t mean to interrupt. I just came to congratulate my very talented son on the amazing showing he did today.

Luna: I’ll, uh, give you two sometime alone. It was good seeing you, brooke. And congrats again, rj.

Brooke: Well, looks like I’m not the only one that’s happy for you.

Rj: Luna has been, uh, a huge help with everything.

Brooke: It’s okay. I don’t need to know the details.

[ Laughing ] I just wanted to tell you that I am very proud of you. Your father is too.

Rj: I appreciate it. You know about luna, I-I–

Brooke: Yeah. No, she’s a sweet girl. She is. And I could tell how you care about each other. But that’s not why I came here to talk to you. There’s something that is troubling me. It’s about your grandfather.

Charlie: I saw what happened. You, uh, you got the dress of your dreams. I am so, so happy for you, esther. And I know one thing for sure. You are gonna make that dress even more beautiful than it is.

Esther: I have to head back to genoa city with lauren. I– I’ve loved my time here and so enjoyed getting to know you, charlie. I hope that I’ll get to see you again when I come back for my fittings.

Charlie: Yeah. I don’t do fittings. Uh, I’m a security guy. I– I wouldn’t know how to put the measure at– oh, I see what you mean. Yeah, I’d really like it if you came back. But I love how happy this dress makes you.

Esther: Oh, it means more to me than anything in the world.

Charlie: I’m gonna miss you.

Esther: I’m gonna miss you, too.

Charlie: Yeah. Before you go…

Lauren: Esther, we need to get going.

Charlie: Goodbye, esther.

Esther: Goodbye, charlie.

[ Both panting ]

Charlie: Oh, uh, uh, cinderella. I mean, ms. Valentine, you forgot your gown.

Esther: [ Chuckles ] Thank you. You know, maybe this doesn’t mean more to me than anything in the world.

Charlie: Esther valentine. Oh, boy.

Zende: What did I tell you? Quite a rush, right?

Luna: Seriously, I’ll– I’ll never forget what today felt like.

Zende: And you never forget your first. Hey, some of the team is getting together to grab drinks later to celebrate. You should come. There they are. Let’s toast to forrester.

Paris: Oh. And the comments just keep coming in online. Tremendous hits.

Ridge: And that’s amazing. But there’s only one thing I’m interested in.

Carter: The orders are in. I’ll go tabulate– tally. I’ll tally them.

Ridge: It’s a better word.

Carter: It’s much better. And we’ll know who won the fashion challenge soon enough.

Eric: Very good. I’m dying to know.

Brooke: Honey, is something going on with your grandfather? I asked katie and donna during the show and I didn’t really get an answer. So why don’t you tell me? Look, I’m your mother. I know when something’s going on. Right now I can see that you’re very bothered. So why don’t you just talk to me? Honey, what is it?

Rj: I– I can’T. I can’t– I can’t do this any longer.

Brooke: What?

Rj: I– I can’t hold onto the secret.

Brooke: What do you mean? What secret? Is this about eric?

Rj: Mom, there’s something that you need to know. You and dad and the entire family. It’s time that all of you and everybody knew.

Eric: My last hurrah. My final collection.

Donna: Please don’t look at it like that. I am so very proud of you today. What you’ve accomplished. I mean, your designs were magnificent.

Eric: They were.

Donna: Yeah, they were. Really.

Eric: I have to win this showdown. I have to. I have to maintain my role as– as leadership of this company, as the founder of forrester creations. Ridge can’t take that away from me.

Brooke: So what is going on with eric?

Rj: I swear I wanted to tell you, but granddad made me keep it a secret. Donna wanted to tell you as well.

Donna: My sister knows about this? Okay, rj, whatever you’re keeping to yourself, I can tell it’s a huge weight on you. So please just talk to me.

Rj: The reason why granddad’s been so determined, I– I– i didn’t even know it at first because he’s been so– so positive and– and inspiring. Mom, the reason why he keeps calling this his grand finale, he’s dying, mom. Granddad’s dying.

Ridge: No, I like that. Victorious day. Yes. Quote from me. I, uh, all right. Uh, we are a classic company with cutting edge future. Sure. All right, I will. Thank you. Bye.

Carter: Modest much?

Ridge: Why? It was a great show.

Carter: It was. Yours and eric’s designs were inspired.

Ridge: But obviously one was more inspired than the other. So what happened? Did we both sell out?

Carter: No. One collection sold out. One didn’T.

Ridge: That’s what I’m— that’s what I’m saying. And I don’t wanna be disrespectful to my dad. He’s taught me everything I know, but today I had to beat him. So what are you doing? Get up. Give me a hug. Shake hands. Tell me I beat the old man. Tell me I won.

These stunning gowns are designed by Eric Forrester and ridge forrester. But of course we want to maintain an air of mystery. These creations are truly works of art. So be sure to bid on the gown you love the best.

Zende: Thanks again for all your help with everything, luna, you’re rocking it.

Luna: Yeah, of course.

Paris: I can’t believe all of these top clients and buyers were given the opportunity to purchase the gown today.

Zende: With no idea they’re actually settling a bet between ridge and eric. Winner takes all, the couture line, the ceo office.

Paris: Yeah, there’s a lot riding on today.

Rj: More than anyone knows.

Katie: All right, well, I can see a lot of pencils moving. Please be sure to write clearly whichever design that you like. So, onward.

[ Audience gasps ]

Katie: This beautiful, form-fitting design is made from hand-spun silk jersey and is encrusted with diamonds. It features a sexy thigh-high reveal. And to finish, the look is draped with an evening train, which adds a hint of drama. Who said diamonds aren’t a girl’s best friend? We give you look number three.

Lauren: That is just gorgeous.

Esther: Look at that. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.

Von frankfurt: I’m sure you haven’T.

Donna: Ridge’s designs are okay, but yours are exquisite.

Eric: Thank you.

Donna: How are you feeling?

Eric: I feel so alive. I feel so good. I’m taking back forester creations. I’m taking it back.

Katie: Forrester creations is pleased to present look number seven. A silver and black brocade waterfall gown with a haltered neckline, which gives this classic shape an extra twist. The detailed floral overlay completes this sumptuous feminine look with just a hint of sparkle.

Esther: Oh, my gosh, it’s stunning. [ Sighs ]

Von frankfurt: Might I ask, are you planning on commenting on every gown today?

Lauren: Uh, so tell me, esther, have you found the dress of your dreams yet?

Esther: Well, they’re all so beautiful. I don’t know how I’ll ever choose.

Lauren: You’ll know. You will know. The dress will speak to you. It will stand out from the rest.

[ Chuckles ]

Zende: Thought there was no livestreams today.

Paris: There is not. I am uploading content to an exclusive link for donors if they contributed to the foundation.

Zende: Yeah, looks like ridge and eric aren’t the only two switching things up a bit.

Paris: Mm-hmm. Look who we have here, none other than one of the designers who helped make today possible, zende forrester.

Rj: We wouldn’t have that last design if it wasn’t for you.

Luna: What?

Rj: Do you remember the– the whole lace thing, the customs and all that?

Luna: Well, yeah. I literally just stayed on the supplier and asked them to send the right document.

Rj: Yes, you did. And because you did that, we got it perfect.

Brooke: It looks like our son has more on his mind than fashion.

Ridge: He’s about to learn a very important lesson. So is my dad.

[ Coughs ]

Katie: Please welcome sage, in number 11, forrester couture’s elegant ball gown designed using ruby red matelassé woven organza. This one of a kind fabric and pattern is exclusive to forrester and has never before been used. That’s why we are pleased to say that these materials come to you straight from the couture vault that has only been opened for this special collection. Once again, number 11.

[ Coughs ]

Ridge: We’re rocking and rolling. Can you feel it?

Model 1: Absolutely. They’re loving it.

Ridge: Yes, they are.

Dennis: Be fools not to, right?

Ridge: Not wrong. Dennis. Not wrong. Rj and my dad, they’re putting up one hell of a fight.

Model 2: Yeah.

Rj: That’s great.

Eric: Good to see you.

Rj: There he is.

Eric: Looks good on you. Yes. Nice. All right. Keep up the energy out there. I love it. It’s really good. Nicely done.

Rj: Hey. Great. I love this. Seriously, this is so much fun. Why didn’t you tell me it was so much fun?

Eric: He gets it.

Rj: Yeah, I do. You’re ready, by the way, you’re all ready to go.

Eric: You look wonderful.

Rj: Thank you. No. Good luck.

Eric: Great. So. You really do get it, don’t you?

Rj: Yeah. Yeah.

Eric: You know the beauty of it is it never changes. It never goes away. No matter how many showings you do, it never goes away. Come here. I couldn’t have done this without you. Come here, luna. Come here. This is so cool. Thank you. I’m so proud of our work. I’m so proud of it. Your father’s designs are really wonderful. They really are. But we’re holding our own. We’re doing fine. And I don’t appreciate his mind games, either. Having us– having us prepare here instead of backstage while he has, you know what office he’s in.

Rj: Well, I mean, that’s– I don’t think that’s why he did that.

Eric: Yes, it is. That’s exactly why he’s doing it. He’s playing mind games with us. Look, I appreciate how aware you are of how important this is to me. I’ve gotta win this thing. It’s like my life depends on it.

Katie: This black silk charmeuse gown features a plunging neckline and a bodice of precious and semiprecious stones. The diamond pattern accentuates the single sleeve, which adds an angular feel. The look is complete with an asymmetric slit, evoking a sense of rebellion.

Katie: Number 14. This deep red mikado satin gown with asymmetrical bustled skirt evokes nothing but drama. A detailed bow adorns the waist and a spectacular chapel train makes this a look not to be forgotten. Deep red georgette opera gloves completes this timeless ensemble.

Brooke: What is going on?

Katie: Nothing. We’re just enjoying a fabulous show.

Donna: It’s one of the finest. Eric’s designs are pretty amazing, you have to admit.

Brooke: So are ridge’S. Yes. Some of the best ever produced. That’s not what I’m talking about. I’ve been watching the two of you, and eric, too. Is there something going on that I don’t know about? Something going on with eric?

Brooke: Well, is something going on with eric I should know about? See? That look. What’s going on?

Donna: Nothing that you don’t already know, brooke. Just that he’s hoping to win the showdown and reclaim his rightful place as head of forrester creations.

Brooke: Yeah, donna, I’m very well aware of that.

Donna: Yeah.

Brooke: I’m talking about something different.

Donna: What?

Brooke: I saw eric earlier and he just seemed off.

Katie: It– it’s nerves. I’m sure it’s nerves, right? This is very important to him. I’m sure ridge must be feeling it too. This could be eric’s last fashion show.

Donna: Yeah.

Katie: I’m up, so I gotta go.

Brooke: Uh– uh, well–

Donna: Yeah, actually, I– no, I really have to go too. I’m so sor– I’m sorry, brooke.

Katie: Look number 15 is a whimsical, deep forest green chiffon silk gown. It features hand beaded, emerald, gemstones.

Ridge: I don’t blame you.

[ Inaudible ]

[ Inaudible ]

Katie: The gathered skirt gives an airy quality which flows with every step. And is only accentuated by the high slit, revealing a bit of leg. The nude bodice gives a hint of mystery, leaving us wanting to see more.

Lauren: Excuse me?

Von frankfurt: What? I forgot what number we’re on.

Esther: Oh, it’s right here in the program, see? It’s a little trick that I use. I just put dots by the ones that have already passed.

Katie: A vision in white. This magical creation will transform you to a place of fantasy and illusion. You’ll be floating on a cloud, swept up in a dream.

[ Inaudible ]

Katie: Forrester has pulled out all the stops with this look, number 19.

Rj: I can’t believe this. You’re dying? We should be flying in specialists, not putting on a fashion show. This is crazy.

Donna: Honey, listen. I really want to support you in this, but you heard the doctor. He doesn’t want you doing the showdown.

Katie: Eric, I’m so sorry this is happening to you. It’s so unbearably unfair.

Rj: Please, granddad. Please tell my dad. He’s gonna be devastated when he finds out. You don’t know how much he loves you.

Eric: I’ll beat you, ridge. I will be in charge of this company again. One last time.

Daytime Soap Opera Short Recaps

Recap written by Suzanne

The Forresters start their big fashion showdown. Beforehand, they greet some of their big guests, such as French singer Fanny Greyson (Elsa Esnoult) and Countess Von Frankfurt (Marie Osmond). Katie does a sound check and then introduces everyone to the select crowd. Two dresses are modeled (one of Eric’s and one of Ridge’s). Eric insists on standing back behind the stage (so no one can see him coughing, I think?).

RJ confides to Luna that Eric is dying, so she comforts him.

Charlie continues to flirt with Esther.

Katie: Check, check. Check. One, two. Forrester. Forrester. How’d that sound? Good? Okay, great. Thank you. Hey, there he is. The man of the hour.

Eric: What, what? Me?

Katie: Oh, yes. Don’t joke. Of course, I mean you.

Eric: Yeah.

Katie: How are you feeling?

Eric: Like I was born to do this.

Donna: Oh, I truly think you were.

[ Eric chuckling ]

Eric: There you are.

Donna: There you are. Are you ready, honey bear?

Eric: Am I ready? Come on. Look at this. I have to say, it never gets old. The thrill and the excitement and the anticipation and with a little added layer today, I’m going head-to-head with my son.

Katie: All right. Well, make sure you take it easy. Remember what the doctor said.

Eric: Yes, well, the doctor said a lot of things, but he didn’t say anything about this day today, here. This day, this feeling, I’ve never felt this alive in my life.

Ridge: Well, I guess it wouldn’t be day of if something didn’t go wrong. We gotta fix this or give me another option.

Kenzie: We’ll make do.

Ridge: Thank you.

Carter: Sorry. Excuse me.

Ridge: Oh, hi. This is your fault.

Carter: What is?

Ridge: This. The dress. You shot your mouth off last night.

Carter: I paid you a compliment.

Ridge: You said I had it in the bag, is what you said.

Carter: I said you might just pull this thing off.

Ridge: That’s the same thing and now, you’ve jinxed me. We’re scrambling.

Brooke: Oh, Carter. I know better than to say something that’s going to jinx Ridge the day of the showing. Just go with it. I’m gonna go see Donna.

Carter: All right. I won’t say anything to you before showing ever again.

Ridge: Thank you. Why are you here?

Carter: Wanna let you know that Katie and I, we went over our intro, the language of how this is gonna work. The guests will make their selections, I’ll tabulate their orders and winner takes all. The mantle of Forrester Couture, this CEO office. The stakes have never been higher.

Ridge: I’m ready.

Model: Everything okay, RJ?

RJ: Yeah. Thank you, yeah. Sorry, uh, it’s just that Eric wanted these alterations sent to Angelo two minutes ago and he should have them now. Great, thank you all. Uh, one more thing. Please make sure that, uh, Eric gets a one– a final– another look. Make sure he gets another look before the show. You’re all set. Thank you so much.

Model: Mm-hmm.

RJ: Thank you.

Luna: You okay? What was that about?

RJ: I’m fine. I… I told you that I trusted you and I mean it. Luna, you know how I’ve been– you know, I’ve been worried about my granddad’s health. He told me last night… my granddad’s dying.

Luna: I can’t believe it.

RJ: I’m still in shock myself.

Luna: Wait, so he just found out a few days ago? Should– should your granddad even be doing all of this today?

RJ: Oh, no. He insists. He’s full of life. He’s more inspired than ever. It just doesn’t make any sense.

Luna: I feel awful for him and for you.

RJ: Just even more conflicted now.

Luna: Wait, your– your father still doesn’t know? Hey. I’m gonna do whatever I can to help you through this, ‘kay?

Katie: We are so happy to have you here. Oh, Brooke, Donna. Uh, sorry to interrupt, but look who’s here.

Brooke: Fanny Greyson.

Fanny: Bienvenue.

Katie: I’m gonna excuse myself. I have some things I need to take care of backstage.

Fanny: Brooke, I was delighted to receive a golden ticket. Flew this morning. I’m so excited to see Eric and Ridge’s latest designs.

Brooke: We all are. I want you to meet my sister, Donna Logan. Fanny is an amazing singer.

Donna: Of course, I know who she is. Brooke, come on. Oh, my god, I love watching and listening to your videos online. They’re amazing.

Fanny: Oh, that’s so kind.

Van Frankfurt: Brooke, darling. So happy to see you.

Brooke: I’m so glad you could make it.

Van Frankfurt: Wouldn’t miss this Forrester exclusive fashion show for the world.

Brooke: That’s right. Fanny Greyson, I’d like you to meet Countess Von Frankfurt.

Fanny: Pleased to meet you.

Van Frankfurt: Yes.

Brooke: So glad that you’re here. Donna.

Donna: Oh, hi.

[ Items clattering ]

Esther: Oh, I’m so sorry. Let me help you.

Lauren: It’s okay, Esther. He’s got it.

Esther: Oh, oh, oh.

Brooke: And from Genoa City, Ms. Lauren Fenmore.

Lauren: Oh, Countess.

Brooke: And Esther Valentine.

Lauren: Fanny, so lovely to see you.

Fanny: Feels like no time has passed.

Lauren: I know, right? Hi, darling. How are you?

Donna: How are you?

Lauren: It’s great to see you.

Esther: I can’t believe that I’m actually in the Forrester showroom. Oh.

Van Frankfurt: Close your mouth, dear. Wouldn’t want to catch any flies.

[ Donna chuckling ]

Ridge: You did this.

Paris: We ran into Mackenzie downstairs.

Ridge: Okay. Where did you learn this little trick?

Zende: Nowhere.

Ridge: Nowhere? I know you’re talented, but this is not something you could just pull out of your hat, so who taught you?

Zende: Granddad.

Ridge: Dad, of course. That doesn’t surprise me at all. Well, listen, you saved the day. So did you. Making this part of the foundation was inspired. All right. Thank you all. I’ll see you downstairs.

Brooke: I know how much you love your father.

Ridge: Damn right, I do. Hi.

Brooke: But I also know how much you wanna win this thing.

Ridge: Damn right, I do. I wanna put this behind us.

Lauren: Oh, that sounds fabulous.

Van Frankfurt: Didn’t want to leave the yacht, but Monaco was divine as ever.

Lauren: Oh.

Esther: Oh, don’t mind if I do.

Van Frankfurt: No.

Lauren: I’m good, thank you.

Esther: Oh, thank you. Probably holding off for pigs in a blanket or a hot dog. Countess Frankfurter, right? I like a good old fashioned hot dog myself. Extra onions, relish.

Van Frankfurt: It’s Frankfurt, not frankfurter.

Esther: So, probably happens all the time. I apologize.

Charlie: No– no offense intended, yeah. Just– just doing my job, you know. Gotta check the– have a nice day.

[ Charlie sighing ]

Van Frankfurt: Who is this simple creature and what is she doing at a elegant Forrester fashion show?

Lauren: Ah, well, that is the one and only, Esther valentine.

Charlie: Ticket, ma’am. Come on.

Esther: Oh, okay.

Charlie: No, no, no. I know, I’m just kidding. I just– I just wanted to see if you were still packing your lethal feather duster.

Esther: Oh, I never leave home without it.

Charlie: Oh, my god. Tell– tell me you did not just do the double helix. Nobody does– you know what? I hope this show is half as entertaining as you are.

Zende: I wanted to come see you in Nashville, but we were prepping like crazy.

Paris: Yeah, I heard it was fire.

Fanny: Oh, that’s so kind. You should come to another one as my guests.

RJ: Really?

Fanny: Yes, of course. I would be so honored. I love Forrester. I was telling Ridge earlier, I’m hoping to find the most beautiful and special gown today.

Luna: Yeah, well, it’s gonna be hard to choose just one.

Charlie: Okay, it– it– it– it’s none of my darn business, but, I mean, are you two just spectators today? Or are you gonna add to the old wardrobes?

Lauren: Oh, well.

Charlie: Oh, my God. Put– put that away. I’m gonna have to get extra security detail for that.

Esther: Well, Mrs. Chancellor, I– I worked for her for decades, and she was really generous to me. And I spent a lot of time with her, so I would see Eric and Ridge’s breathtaking designs, and it’s always been a dream of mine to own a Forrester original gown for myself.

Lauren: Okay, that’s really wonderful, Esther, but put your money away, okay?

Esther: Okay.

Charlie: Esther, I– I promise you, you will find the gown of your dreams. I mean, this is– this is the finest collection I’ve ever seen.

Esther: Oh.

Woman: Sounds good.

Ridge: Thank you. Bye.

Brooke: This jinx talk and all this nervous energy you have going on, I think it’s more than just preshow jitters. I think it’s because you’re going into battle with your father, a man that you love and admire.

Ridge: First of all, this is adrenaline. It always gets going at the show. You know that. And, yeah, I don’t like going against my dad, but… I have to. I have to pull this off. For the good of the company.

Donna: Katie is all ready with her intro.

Eric: Good.

Donna: This is it. We are doing it.

Eric: Yeah, we are, aren’t we? This is great. Look, I’m going to, um… I’m gonna watch from back here, all right?

Donna: Oh. Oh, okay, well, then I’ll join you.

Eric: No, no, that’s all right. I just want to take it all in. All right? You– you watch from out front.

Donna: Okay… you know, I support you 1,000%.

Eric: I do. It means so much to me, too. So don’t think about anything else. Just go out and… enjoy the beauty of everything that happens today. My final collection.

Carter: Showtime.

Brooke: For good luck.

[ Audience murmuring ]

Katie: Welcome. Good afternoon. I’m Katie Logan. I am head of PR for Forrester Creations, and it is my distinct honor and pleasure to welcome all of you to this exclusive event. Before we get started, I’d like to highlight a few people in our audience who have made today possible. Zende Forrester, who is an integral part of our design team. Paris Buckingham, whom I’m sure you all know, heads our foundation. Carter Walton, our brilliant COO, RJ, Ridge Forrester, Jr., who has been co-designing with his grandfather, the esteemed Eric Forrester.

[ Applause ]

Katie: My beautiful sister, Brooke Logan Forrester, who is a legend unto herself. And Ridge Forrester, who needs no introduction, but… I wouldn’t want to make him feel left out.

[ Audience laughing ]

Katie: Truly, we are all honored to have you here. You have flown in from all over the world, from Paris, from Milan, from Genoa City, Wisconsin. And I just want to be clear about how today is gonna go. So you will be seeing designs from Eric and from Ridge. All of the gowns will be numbered. And did everyone get their pencil and their piece of paper that we passed out? Okay, good, good, good.

Von Frankfurt: And how am I to know whether I’m buying an Eric Forrester or a Ridge Forrester original?

Katie: Oh, you won’t. That’s part of the fun. We’ve decided to create an air of mystery for today’s event.

[ Audience murmuring ]

[ Lively instrumental ]

Katie: You might say that this is highly unusual, and you wouldn’t be wrong, but Forrester has always broken the mold. We have, for decades, solidified our reputation with our buyers, with our clientele, based on opulence and elegance. And we’re going to see plenty of that today. But we are also not afraid to reinvent ourselves. You are going to see examples of both schools of thought, and I encourage you to write down the gown that you love the most. And if you’re lucky enough to win your selection, you will come back to Forrester. You’ll have a private fitting with either Ridge or Eric. But best of all, you will have a first look at the new Couture collection. I can feel the excitement in the room. Can’t you? Hundreds of hours have gone in to each and every design. I think it’s fair to say that both Eric and Ridge have poured more of themselves into these collections than they ever have with anything else they produce. Some might say that that is the curse of the artist. Others might say that it’s what makes life worth living. So, without further ado, the House of Forrester Couture.

[ Audience applauding ]

Katie: We begin our collection with look number one. This exquisite gown comes exclusively in black taffeta with a luxurious trumpeted tulle skirt.

Donna: It’s pure class. Just like my honey bear.

Katie: No attention to detail has been overlooked with this beautiful creation, complete with a hand-sewn gemstone bodice. The designer has completed this look with sheer opera gloves, giving this gown a timeless feel. Look number two is an elevated column satin gown with a modern bustier bodice. As you can see, these bright red crystals shimmer with every turn. The high slit in back gives this look an added layer of style and sophistication. Once again, we present looks number one and two.

Ridge: Well, we’re off to the races.

Eric: Off to the races. Yeah, so we are.

Ridge: So what’s your plan? You gonna go out there? Or are you gonna watch your defeat from back here?

Eric: Defeat? No, no, I hardly think so. I– I’ve been watching here. I can see it. I can feel it.

Ridge: Mm-hmm.

Eric: The day is mine, Ridge.

Ridge: Your grand finale, right?

Eric: My grand finale. That’s right.

[ Eric chuckling ]

[ Coughing ]

[ Upbeat music ]

Ridge: One more time, please.

Thomas: It’s even better than I imagined.

Hope: It is gorgeous.

Ridge: It has to be. Going up against my dad. He’s the best. Come up here for one second. Just a couple of things. Okay.

Eric: These are the wrong earrings. Let me see the other ones, please. Right away, right away. Hold that up. Yes, those are the ones. All right? Let Katie know so she can change her copy, all right? Let her know right away.

RJ: He’s incredible. He’s like a machine.

Donna: This is–

RJ: Brilliant.

Donna: Where he thrives.

Eric: See this? This is the best collection I’ve ever done in my life. I– I can’t– I couldn’t be any happier. I love this– I love this feeling. I feel so alive. I never wanna lose this. Look here. See this? Watch and learn. Now, see this– this line? Look at this. Right. You did it. You did this.

Charlie: Okay. The, uh, night before the, uh, the big show is what we call “controlled chaos.” Efficient, yes. Focused, yes. But ultimately, total mayhem.

Esther: I love it. It’s so exciting.

Lauren: Well, this was most the extensive tour of Forrester I’ve ever been on, and I worked here for years. So, actually, I would love to pop in and see Ridge before we go to the hotel. Do you think that’s possible?

Charlie: Well, I know he’s, uh, he’s busy getting ready for the really big show tomorrow, but, uh, I’ll go see if he’s available to pop. Um, but, come on. Who wouldn’t have time for two stunningly beautiful ladies?

Ridge: All right, good. Please tell alterations they need see this again.

Sloane: Big day tomorrow.

Ridge: Everything has to be perfect.

Sloane: This dress is extraordinary. I’ve never worn anything quite like it, and that’s saying something.

Ridge: It certainly is. Thank you. You wear it well. Dennis, let’s see the next one, please. Thank you.

Thomas: So, battle on the runway. Sounds intense. I’m sure the rules have been set?

Ridge: Yeah, no, they– uh, they certainly have. Do me a favor? This has to go down to hair and makeup. These have all been approved.

Assistant: Okay, thank you.

Ridge: Thank you. Bye. Yeah, Dad and I will preview our pieces, uh, the guests will bid on them and whoever sells the most, wins.

Hope: So, no one will know that you and Eric are in direct competition with each other?

Ridge: People may notice that some of the designs are a little bit more, um, traditional.

Thomas: And yours a little more contemporary?

Ridge: Timeless and elegant, baby. Timeless and elegant.

Thomas: Well, if these dresses are any indication of the rest of the line, then, um, I don’t see you losing.

[ Ridge chuckling ]

Ridge: Okay.

Hope: Speaking of, uh, we should let you get back to work.

Ridge: Okay.

Eric: All right, can you turn for me, please? Hold right here. Here. Yep. Thank you. All right. Come around [Indistinct]. There we are.

RJ: I think this is great. You really– you– you brought this to life. It’s incredible.

Donna: It’s simply– it’s– stunning. I mean, it’s classic Eric Forrester and so much more.

Eric: Thank you. Just one more detail to work out. Let me just see here. This fold.

Maddie: You okay, Mr. Forrester?

Eric: Yes, yeah. I was just– pre-show jitters. Happens to me all the time. Nothing, uh, a nice martini won’t fix.

RJ: Uh, yeah. Maddie, uh, can– thank you. You’ve been amazing. Annabelle, can you please take her and go get the dress to be prepped? I appreciate it. Thank you both.

Eric: All right, everything is okay now. Crisis averted. Nothing to worry about. The only person who needs to worry about anything is Ridge ’cause he’s going down tomorrow.

Hope: I like the adjustments you made.

Thomas: I like seeing it on you.

Hope: Still can’t believe the showdown is already tomorrow.

Thomas: I know. The stakes are so high for everyone.

Hope: Yeah. Well, I know you love the rush of a show.

Thomas: Hm. I love a lot of things. But we need to get our budget back. That’s another thing I’d love, you know? And the best way to have that happen is to have my dad win the showdown tomorrow. It’s the best thing for us and for the line.

Esther: I can’t get over how friendly everyone is here, especially that, um, security officer. What– what was his name again?

Lauren: Charlie?

Esther: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, right. Uh, especially him.

Lauren: Okay. Eye on the prize, Esther. You came here to pick up a Forrester dress, not a security guard.

Charlie: Well, uh, if you young ladies wouldn’t mind popping over there, Mr. Forrester will see you.

Lauren: Well thank you, Charlie. Come on, Esther.

Esther: Bye.

Lauren: Hi!

Ridge: Lauren, you made it. Hi.

Lauren: I did. Oh, it’s been too long.

Ridge: Yes, it has. Thanks for making the flight, but you had to, really. I mean, this is for the cream of the crop and without you, it makes no sense.

Lauren: Well, you and I go way back, my friend.

Ridge: Yes, we do.

Lauren: I’m very happy to be here.

Ridge: Who’s this one?

Lauren: This is Esther Valentine. Esther, this is the Ridge Forrester. As hard it may be, try not to fall in love with him.

Esther: Oh, my gosh. It’s such an honor to actually meet you. Your dresses are such a dream. I mean, I dream of them all the time. Last night, I was dreaming–

Lauren: Okay, Esther. You know, we met with Eric earlier. Got a glimpse of one of his designs. It’s beautiful.

Ridge: No, yeah, no, it is. It’s gonna be a good show. I think you’re gonna be surprised how innovative this company has become.

Eric: Look at them! Look what you did! Look at this! It’s gorgeous. Come on. Look at all that.

RJ: No, come on. That– that? I just did the mechanical on that. That is all you. That is completely 100% him.

Eric: No, no. You did much more than that. We both did this. We both did it. There’s so much riding on this collection. My legacy and my whole career and– and my life.

RJ: Granddad, what do you mean– what do you mean your life’s riding on this?

Lauren: Forrester Creations, it’s the best of best. It’s synonymous with classic elegance. I mean, I have a built in clientele just based on your designs alone, so I am very interested to see what’s new. Any chance you would give an old friend a sneak peek?

Ridge: An old friend? Hm. No, you know what? You’re gonna have to wait like the rest of them. But I’m interested to see what catches your eye because we’ve been, you know, pushing the envelope a little bit.

Lauren: Sounds very interesting.

Ridge: What about you, Esther? Having a good time so far?

Esther: Oh, this is like a dream come true. I mean, here I am, in sunny Los Angeles, knowing that tomorrow, I’ll be surrounded by the most beautiful gowns in the world. It makes me feel like a princess.

Ridge: Well, that’s what we try to do, make you feel like a princess. Or a queen.

Esther: Oh, wearing a Forrester original would be a dream come true. I can’t even imagine. Maybe some day.

Lauren: Okay, Esther, you know what? We should go. Let Ridge get back to work. He has lots to do before the show tomorrow. We certainly don’t want to overstay our welcome.

Ridge: I don’t think you could. All right. I’ll see you tomorrow.

Esther: This is so exciting. I have been a fan for so long.

[ Lauren chuckling ]

Lauren: Okay, Esther. Let’s go. Let’s let him work.

Esther: Okay, bye.

Ridge: Bye.

Charlie: So, uh, how’d it go? You gonna be strolling the runway tomorrow?

Esther: Oh, please. I wish.

Lauren: Thank you again for that very comprehensive tour.

Charlie: Well, the, uh, the pleasure was all mine. Until tomorrow then.

Lauren: Okay. We’ll see you then. We’re going. Come on. Let’s go.

RJ: No, what do you mean? What do you mean that your life’s riding on this collection? I– I know that you’re battling medical stuff, but did– did you learn something? Did– did the doctors tell you something? Hey, don’t treat me like a kid right now. Please, tell me what’s going on.

Donna: He is your partner, and he deserves to know everything.

RJ: Yes, I deserve to know everything. Please, tell– what is it?

Eric: You’re right. You’re not a kid. You’re not a kid anymore. You had a lot to learn when you came to me a couple of months ago, didn’t you? But you did. I’m proud of you. I’m so proud of you. You’re a real partner now. I’m so grateful. I’m so grateful we had this time together. You’re extraordinary. Don’t you ever forget that.

RJ: No, what are you talking about? Why are you talking to me like this is over?

Eric: Because it is. Everything has to come to an end, you know? And this is my… my last hurrah.

RJ: What?

Eric: The doctors, um…

RJ: What?

Eric: I’m dying, RJ. I’m… I’m dying.

RJ: No. No.

Thomas: A good designer has to capture the essence of a woman that he is designing for.

Hope: Oh, and is this my essence, Thomas?

Thomas: Well, it is right now, right? I mean, look, you have changed as a woman over time. A designer has to design for the woman that she’s becoming. Right now, that is sexy, passionate, wild. That’s how I see you.

Hope: Well then, I like the way you see me.

Thomas: Mm. And after tomorrow, Hope For The Future will be back in the spotlight, and that means you get to be back in the spotlight, and everyone gets to see this… Hope Logan that I’ve come to know so intimately.

Ridge: All right, Dad. It’s showtime.

RJ: What do you mean you’re dying?

Eric: I know this is hard. It’s hard for Donna too, but this has really opened my eyes, you know.

RJ: It’s opened your eyes? How so?

Eric: Life on this earth is never made so clear as it is to a person who finds out they’re gonna die. I mean, we spend so much time outside ourselves and we don’t come inside and we don’t– we don’t really reach out and– and get close to what we have right here. That’s the gift that’s been given to me. That’s the gift.

RJ: We shouldn’t be making a fashion show. We should be flying in specialists, Donna. This is insane! Why are we doing this?

Eric: No, it’s not. It’s not insane.

RJ: How so?

Eric: It’s not. This is what I want. I want to do this showing and I want to do it… I want to be in this room, here, where I raised my kids. Where I raised your father, in this room. I want to be in this room with these two people who love me so much. Give me your hand. And I– I want you to do this with me, all right? Promise me.

RJ: I can’t stand the thought of losing you. You understand that? I’m not okay with this!

Eric: You are so talented. You’re so talented. You’re gonna set the world on fire. You are. You’re a Forrester, and you’re gonna make this name really proud.

RJ: None of that matters!

Eric: It does.

RJ: You need– no. You need to tell Dad. Dad needs to know. Do you understand how much he loves you?

Eric: I know. I know.

RJ: You know?

Eric: I’m not gonna tell him. All right? I don’t wanna tell him because I don’t want to see in his eyes what I see in yours right now.

RJ: No.

Eric: I want you two to do this with me. I know how much you love me, and you know how much I love you. I want you to respect my wishes. I want to do this– I want to do this my way.

RJ: But you changed my life, Granddad.

Eric: Come here, come here.

Donna: You changed all of our lives.

Eric: Yeah? You changed my life too.

[ Donna sobbing ]

Eric: Okay, I want, um… I’m gonna spend some time by myself in here. Just me. I’m sorry, but, uh, I need this time alone, all right? Just let me have some time.

Donna: Okay. Okay. We’ll just go upstairs for a little bit. Come on. Come on, RJ.

Eric: Go on, go on. Go on.

Donna: Come on, RJ.

[ Indistinct chatter ]

[ Audience applause ]

Donna: Oh, my god.

Listen to that crowd.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: They love you.

Eric: Mm-hmm. Not bad.

Lilah: Not bad? This gown’s exquisite.

RJ: It’s quintessential classic Forrester, Granddad.

Eric: Let Angelo know that the– everything is on the–

RJ: They’re in his inbox already.

Lilah: Adjustment or not, this is spectacular.

Eric: Thank you, Lilah. Thank you.

Lilah: Mm-hmm.

RJ: Come on.

[ Eric coughing ]

RJ: Hey, Granddad. Are you all right?

Eric: Yeah. As I’ll ever be, yeah.

Donna: Eric’s dying. I still can’t believe it.

Katie: Have you had any luck trying to convince him to be open with the family?

Donna: He refuses. He doesn’t want that kind of attention or worry. He is insistent on living while he’s still alive.

Esther: Wow.

Receptionist: Give me a minute. Let me go check with Luna.

Lauren: Okay.

Esther: Lauren, I can’t believe that you brought me here to Los Angeles for the big Forrester fashion show. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. Thank you.

Lauren: Of course! Eric sent me two tickets. You said you always wanted a Forrester Creations original and voila, here we are. See? Dreams do come true.

Esther: Mm-hmm.

Luna: Yep. They’re signed and at the reception desk, Carter. Great, will do. Hi!

Lauren: Hi!

Luna: Ms. Fenmore, I’m Luna. We talked on the phone earlier.

Lauren: Yes, pleasure! This is my guest, Esther Valentine.

Luna: Hi, nice to meet you!

Esther: This– this is incredible.

Luna: Oh, tell me about it. I’m an intern and I just started like, a few weeks back and I– I still can’t believe it. How was your flight?

Esther: Oh, it was magical. I mean, flying in the clouds, Champagne in hand and arriving in Los Angeles? I mean, I– I truly feel like I’m dreaming.

Luna: That’s amazing. Uh, well, uh, Mr. Forrester is just finishing up a fitting, but he’ll be available shortly.

Esther: Oh. I can’t believe that I’m actually gonna meet the Eric Forrester.

Charlie: No, no, no. Pammy, sweetie, you gotta come to the fashion show. I mean, it’s Eric versus Ridge. I mean, you know, two titans slugging it out on the runway. I got a chair for you right here. Y– yeah. Honey, you can bake lemon bars anytime. It’s– yeah, no, no. I understand. I– I just– okay. I miss you, you know.

[ Phone beeping ]

Charlie: Hello? I’m such a loser when it comes to love.

Luna: Um, Eric should be finished shortly.

Lauren: Okay. Thank you, Luna.

Esther: Gosh. I have always dreamed of getting a gorgeous Forrester original gown, just like Mrs. Chancellor used to wear.

Lauren: Aw. Well, you may get that chance. Life is too short not to enjoy it, right?

Katie: What is it?

Donna: Oh, it’s just nothing. It’s, uh… I had a really nice moment with Eric earlier and uh, I was, uh, pushing him to, you know, stop this challenge and tell Ridge what was really going on and um, he, as he always does, charmed me into not worrying. And I said I was, uh, behind him 100%. ‘Til the end. I just, uh, never realized that the end… that was, um, before the diagnosis, obviously.

Katie: Did the doctor really say only six more months?

Donna: Yeah. That’s why last night, I tried to convince him again and again to tell the whole family what is happening with him and he refuses to be pitied. What am I supposed to do, Katie?

[ Eric coughing ]

Eric: Excuse– excuse me.

[ Eric coughing ]

[ Eric panting ]

RJ: Seriously, Granddad, are– are you okay?

Eric: Yeah. Right as I can be.

RJ: Are– are you sure? Do you want me to get you some water?

Eric: No, I’m okay. I’m okay. Yeah, I’m good.

Luna: We’re here, Mr. Forrester.

Eric: Hi, Lauren Fenmore! Let the celebration begin.

Lauren: Eric.

Eric: Hello. I see you met Luna. She’s our– our newest intern and this is my youngest grandson, RJ.

Lauren: Ridge, Junior.

RJ: That– that is me. That’s what I have to live up to. It’s nice to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you.

Lauren: Oh. Good things, I hope?

RJ: Um…

Eric: Now, you need to get out of here before you get me in trouble here.

RJ: Okay. Actually, I’m gonna check on– on those, uh– the notes. Make sure they’re locked in.

Eric: Okay, good. Thanks.

RJ: See you later. It was nice meeting you.

Lauren: It was nice meeting you too.

Eric: Wow, look at you. Beautiful as ever.

Lauren: Thank you.

Eric: I’m so glad you can join us for this.

Lauren: Well, when I got your invitation, I got on the next plane to L.A.

Eric: Good.

Lauren: Thank you so much for having me.

Eric: Of course. Of course. When– when– when this came up, I thought it was a no-brainer. I– I was so glad you said yes. Thank you. You’re gonna love this. This is my best collection ever. My grand finale.

Lauren: Well, I wouldn’t miss it, but what? What do you mean your grand finale?

Esther: Lauren and Mr. Forrester go way back. I’m sure they have a lot to catch up on.

Luna: What a beautiful purse.

Esther: Thank you. It was a gift from Mrs. C. Uh, Mrs. Chancellor. Katherine Chancellor of Chancellor Industries. I worked for her many, many years.

RJ: Hey, Luna. I need to talk to– oh, I’m sorry. Were you guys having a conversation? My bad. Let me introduce myself. I’m RJ. It’s a pleasure to meet you.

Esther: Oh. Ester Valentine, guest of Lauren Fenmore. I’m so pleased to meet you. I– I follow you online.

RJ: No, you don’t. Do you really?

Esther: I do.

RJ: That’s amazing. I– I really wish we could chat more. I’m so sorry, but actually, I have to take her away from you. We– there’s a shipment, there’s an issue. Something’s still stuck in customs. I’m so sorry.

Esther: Oh, no, no. It sounds important. You– you go, go. I’ll wait here for Lauren and Mr. Forrester.

RJ: Pleasure to meet you.

Charlie: Not so fast, young lady.

Esther: Oh.

Katie: I’m so sorry, sis. I mean, this has just happened so fast. Arthritis, carpal tunnel, coughing up blood. It’s just horrible. Poor Eric.

Donna: I mean, I wasn’t kidding myself. I knew that he was older. There’s a little age difference between– oh, stop. Between us. But I just, you know, he’s so strong and so– so vibrant. I just… always imagined we’d have so many more years together, you know?

Katie: Yeah.

Lauren: So, can we talk about the elephant in the room? Or should I say the devilishly handsome designer in the room?

Eric: Ah.

Lauren: Why are you not in your office? I almost corrected Luna when she brought me here, but to my surprise…

Eric: Well, it’s a little situation that I hope to have resolved very soon.

Lauren: Hm. Does this have anything to do with the way you were talking before? Eric, you’re at the top of your game as an artist. Why are on earth would you think that this is your grand finale?

Eric: Well, I appreciate the flattery, I really do, but, uh, I’m not as young as I used to be and time’s creeping up on me. Not sure how much I have left.

Charlie: Well, let’s just see what you’re packing here, little missy. A-ha! It’s, uh, a feather duster. I know it looks innocent, but you know what this could do in the wrong hands?

Esther: Well, I– I take it wherever I go. I– I’m a compulsive cleaner.

Charlie: Me, too.

Esther: Oh. Um, we haven’t been formally introduced. I– I’m Esther Valentine, guest of Ms. Lauren Fenmore from Genoa City, Wisconsin. We’re– we’re here for the Forrester fashion show.

Charlie: Armed with your, uh, lethal feather duster.

Esther: Oh. Well, I’ve always been told to leave the place cleaner than when you arrived.

Charlie: Sure. Yeah.

Lauren: Esther? Oh, sorry. Um… someone would like to meet you.

Esther: Oh, gosh. Um, sorry. I– I have to go, um…

Charlie: Right. Oh, uh– uh, Charlie.

Esther: Oh, Charlie.

Charlie: Charlie. Okay.

Esther: Bye.

Charlie: See you later.

Luna: Okay, so apparently, there was a mix up with the tariff classification codes, but Desmond is working on it and on his end to update customs. Did I lose you?

RJ: What? Sorry.

Luna: Um, you seem worried. Is it about the shipment or… it’s about your grandfather?

[ Eric coughing ]

Eric: Hey. Ah. Is this the famous plus one I’ve been hearing about?

Lauren: Yes. Eric Forrester, this is Esther Valentine.

Eric: Esther, hello. It’s great to meet you. Welcome. If I’d known that you were gonna bring such VIP people, I would’ve cleaned up around here a little bit. Hi.

Esther: Hi. Oh, my.

Katie: You know, speaking from experience, there’s always a chance that Eric could beat the odds.

Donna: Well, you, you’re a medical marvel.

[ Donna laughing ]

Katie: I am, aren’t I?

Donna: Yeah, you are.

Katie: Still, you know, you keep telling me that Eric wants to live until he dies. Well, I think you need to adopt that same mindset. I mean, go back to the way you were thinking before the diagnosis. Just savor every single second you have with Eric, until the end.

RJ: You’re right. I am concerned. My granddad’s working on this collection for– for weeks now. He’s been working so hard. You know, he’s got all this energy, which is great, but you know, it’s– obviously, it’s taking a toll. His tremors have gotten worse. He– he has this cough now, which is awful, and it wasn’t there before. Yeah, I am concerned about him. But, at the same time, you know, his– his positivity and his just, like, raw belief in his vision for all of this, it actually has me excited about a fashion show, so…

Luna: Well, you should be. I mean, you’re a huge part of Eric’s collection.

RJ: Thank you. I just can’t wait for all this to be over so he can just focus on himself and his health.

[ Luna chuckling ]

RJ; What?

Luna: Oh, nothing. It’s just, you just keep proving what a wonderful, caring guy you are. No wonder why I like you so much.

Katie: Life is short. We try not to take it for granted. And one day, we wake up and someone we love has been taken from us. I know this is heartbreaking, but I just want you to take it as an opportunity. You know how much time you have left, so honor Eric. Love him and support him.

Donna: Okay, I’ll try. I’ll really, really try. It’s just so hard. I’m so scared for Eric.

Katie: Yeah.

Eric: So, you two know each other through Katherine Chancellor?

Lauren: Right. Esther worked with her for years.

Eric: Wow. I always admired her. I think she was an incredible woman.

Esther: She was so classy and elegant. I remember how especially beautiful Mrs. C looked whenever she wore a Forrester original.

Eric: Well, she’s the one who made the gown sing, isn’t she? Well, I’m so happy that you’re here to see us for this. I promise you an event tomorrow that you’ll never forget.

Esther: Oh, so exciting.

Lauren: I don’t want to interrupt your process anymore and you should get back to work.

Eric: All right. Thank you. It’s great to see you.

Lauren: Sweetheart.

Eric: Yeah. And lovely to meet you.

Esther: Oh. Oh, my goodness.

Eric: I’ll see you tomorrow.

Lauren: Okay. Goodbye.

[ Eric coughing ]

Donna: If only the world knew the truth. Eric is dying.

Ridge: Why do I feel like you’re holding out on me?

Brooke: Honey, your father and I are just worried about Eric. His behavior lately has been a bit off.

Ridge: And we’ve been over this, but why is he pushing this line now? Why?

RJ: Does it really matter why? This fashion challenge is gonna happen. It’s all gonna be over and done with soon. It seems pretty silly to keep asking why. He owns the company. He wanted to do his own line. He wanted to create a grand finale. Does he need more reasons other than that?

Ridge: A couple of things. Number one, we own the company. Number two, you don’t design a whole collection on a whim.

RJ: It’s not a whim. It’s incredibly important.

Ridge: Exactly. So, why now, after all these years, does he have to do this? Why now? There’s something you’re not telling me.

Katie: This just doesn’t seem real.

Donna: I know.

Katie: Eric is dying?

Donna: Yeah. I wish it wasn’t real. I– I– honestly, I’m– I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around all of this. I mean, the doctor gave us the news and– and– and everything just stopped. I mean, I could see his lips moving, and words were coming out of his mouth, but I– I– I just couldn’t make any sense of any of it. It just–

Katie: Oh, honey, this is so devastating. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.

[ Phone chiming ]

RJ: Wait, hold on, hold on. I’m not letting you leave. Talk to me.

Luna: I have to. I’m sorry. It’s a family matter. I can’t get into it. Goodbye, RJ.

RJ: Hey. Wait. No, seriously, I– I should be the one thanking you, honestly. I mean, being able to open up to you about my granddad’s situation, especially when I can’t talk about it with anybody else, it means a lot to me.

Luna: Well, I’m glad I can help, even if it’s just a talk. Secret’s safe, I won’t say a word.

Carter: Luna, don’t send out that invoice just yet. Eric has a last minute order. We also have to call our distributor, and– Luna.

Luna: What? Uh, sorry, what was that?

Carter: You seem a little distracted. Is everything okay?

Ridge: You’re holding something back, I can tell.

RJ: What do you want me to say?

Brooke: Honey, we’re a family. We all love each other. If Eric needs help–

Eric: Listen, when I come downstairs, I don’t want to hear any more about us not being able to complete this collection. Nothing else. And I certainly don’t want you to tell anybody else about my condition. Certainly not your father.

Ridge: RJ, if something’s wrong with my dad, I need to know. Think about it. If there was something wrong with me or with your mom, you’d want to know, right?

RJ: Okay. You’re right. There’s something that you– you both need to know about Granddad.

Donna: It started off as, you know, tremors. He had pain in his hand, and, um, it was frustrating, but you know, we could do it because RJ helped.

Katie: That’s when he started designing.

Donna: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, collaborating with RJ was the best thing that came out of this. Eric adores his grandson.

Katie: Well, I think the feeling is mutual. RJ worships his grandfather

Donna: Yeah. And it seemed like it– it was all gonna work out, you know? Eric would play the piano and they would sketch together, and he was on top of the world and it was magic.

Katie: Until it wasn’t.

Donna: Yeah. And then, the pain became debilitating and– and then, the coughing happened, and he was coughing up blood, and he, um–

Katie: Oh, my God.

Donna: Was hiding it from me until recently and– and then, the doctor said that, uh, he only has six months to live. Maybe less. [ Sobs ]

Katie: Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

[ Donna sobbing ]

Ridge: Please, son. What do I need to know about my dad?

RJ: Granddad is… he’s never been more determined to create a collection. It’s like his life depends on it. There’s– this line, this– this grand finale, nothing means more to him, Dad. He’s going to give it everything he’s got to make it a reality one last time.

Brooke: We just don’t understand why he feels like he needs to do it alone.

RJ: But he’s not alone, he has me. Listen, I have to go. I have a ton of work to do, um, but it was good to see you.

Brooke: Okay, honey, bye.

RJ: Bye.

Ridge: Hey, son.

RJ: Yeah, dad?

Ridge: Whatever happens on that runway… we all love each other. We’re family. That always comes first.

RJ: Dad, I’ll never doubt how much you love me or Granddad. I hope the two of you never doubt how much I love you both.

Luna: I’m sorry, Carter. I’ve just, um, I’ve been swamped helping RJ and Mr. Forrester. I guess I spaced out.

Carter: [ Chuckles ] Well, that’s understandable. You’re new here and things can get really crazy when we’re headed into a collection launch.

Luna: Yeah, there is definitely a buzz in the air.

Carter: You haven’t seen anything yet. I’ve been here for a long time, I’ve seen a lot of events, but this one promises to be epic. I just wish Ridge and Eric weren’t pitted against each other.

RJ: Oh, hey, come on. I think we can keep it relatively friendly-ish.

Carter: Please do. You know, presenting us as a united front is part of our image and it’s important to our bottom line.

Luna: Yeah, well, Eric’s designs are incredible. I can’t imagine his collections not being a success.

Carter: Ridge is no slouch and he’s gonna bring it, but yes, you’re right. Eric has been working really hard.

RJ: Yeah, really hard, dude, he’s– he’s giving us everything that he has, body and soul.

Carter: I’ve– I’ve never seen him more motivated, that’s for sure.

RJ: He wants this line to define him. That means that this has to blow everything else that he’s done out of the water.

Carter: Well, that’s a tall order. [ Laughs ] But if the last time I saw him was an indication, I say the man’s up for it. I went to drop off some paperwork, right? And he could not sit down long enough to sign it. No, he was so– he was so amped, you know? He was so full of life.

Donna: Thank you. I love you so much. You know, I really miss my sisters.

Katie: Honey, we are right here for you. Brooke would be, too, if you told her.

Donna: No, no, no, no, no. Uh-uh. Eric doesn’t want anyone to know and as– as hard as it is to keep it to myself, that’s what he wants. And I love him so much. I don’t wanna upset him.

Katie: All right, all right. We will do whatever is best for Eric, don’t worry.

Donna: Thank you. Thank you so much.

Eric: Katie, you came back. And, uh, clearly, you know what’s happening.

Katie: Oh, God.

Eric: Okay. Okay. That’s enough of that now. That’s enough.

Katie: I just– I, um– I forgot my phone and so, I came back and I– I overheard you saying that you were dying. I’m so sorry this is happening to you. That’s so– it’s unbearably unfair. This isn’t supposed to happen to the good guys and you’re– well, you’re just about the best guy I know.

Eric: Thanks.

[ Eric sighs ]

Luna: You were gone longer than I expected.

RJ: Yeah, um, well, my dad put me on the spot. He noticed that something is a little off with Granddad, that he’s been acting differently. I mean, it’s just– he’s worried about him.

Luna: It’s pretty amazing. I mean, even though they’re both at odds and they’re working nonstop to try and win the showdown, the love and respect is still there.

RJ: Yeah, we’re Forresters. We– we always care about each other, no matter what. It’s our tragic flaw.

Luna: [ Laughs ] Well, as tragic flaws go, I think it’s a pretty good one.

RJ: If my dad just knew the truth.

Ridge: Why do I feel like you’re not listening to me? The sample is going to be down there, I promise you. Yeah. Thank you.

Brooke: The fashion challenge is putting a lot of strain on your relationship with your father. And guess who’s in the middle? Our son. That’s putting a lot of pressure on him. And I’m just worried that this might affect your relationship with RJ somehow.

Ridge: Not gonna let that happen.

Carter: All right, the big day is almost here. We’re finalizing the special guest list for the fashion events.

Brooke: And who are you rooting for?

Carter: Oh, I can’t– can’t say.

Brooke: Oh, yes, you can. Tell me.

Carter: I’m rooting for my best friend, of course.

Ridge: Right. Good answer. That’s why we’re friends, see?

Carter: But I also have to throw some support to Eric. I mean, the guy, he’s an icon. He represents the history and lineage of Forrester Creations and he gave me my job here.

Ridge: All right, BFF. You have a sentimental favorite. I get it. Not gonna stop me from beating my father on the runway.

Eric: All right, Katie. Everything’s gonna be all right. I don’t plan on going anywhere very soon at all.

Katie: I know you don’t want anyone to know, but Ridge and Brooke–

Eric: No, no, no, no, no. I don’t want you to tell them. I don’t– I don’t want you to tell anyone. Least of all, Ridge and Brooke.

Katie: They would want to help. They love you, we all do.

Eric: I appreciate that, but I want you to respect my wishes, please, please. Now, I’m not gonna worry about what the doctor said. None of us knows what the future holds. Life is fragile. Nobody knows that better than you do. What did you say to the doctors when they told you you couldn’t have a baby because of your heart condition? What did you say?

Katie: I told them to go to hell.

Eric: That’s exactly what you said, and that’s not all you said either. I remember. Katie, how old is will now? Come on. Look, all we can do is live each day that we’re given and cherish each second we have of this life that God gave us. That’s all we can do. Now, I have my own baby to nurture here and to raise and to bring to fruition and I’m gonna do it. This is gonna be my finest collection ever. And we’re gonna beat the couture pants off the Ridge while we’re at it, you’ll see. Okay.

Luna: Hey, you’re a good grandson.

RJ: Am I really?

Luna: Of course, you are. You know how much everything you’re doing means to Eric. Your grandfather is sick. He can’t design, which is like, the one thing he loves doing more than anything else in the world. You’re helping him bring his passion to life. This final collection wouldn’t be happening without you, RJ. I mean, this is huge.

RJ: Yeah, I know, but what about my dad? What– what kind of son am I being to him? I mean, I– I’ve been keeping this secret. Uh, you know, we– we don’t know how bad his health issues are, but I’ve been keeping this secret because I– I respect my grandfather. But what’s gonna happen when my dad finally finds out? How is he gonna feel about me?

Luna: He’ll understand.

RJ: No, I don’t know that. I don’t know if I would. If my father was sick and nobody told me, nobody let me take care of him or care for him, I’d be pissed, I’d be hurt. It’s not fair. What if I’m robbing him of precious time with his dad? Listen, I think he deserves to know the truth.

Ridge: You know, you’re right about what you said earlier.

Brooke: Yeah, I am right about a lot of things, but remind me specifically what you’re talking about right now.

Ridge: This fashion challenge being unhealthy ’cause it is. It’s all about my dad wanting to be in the spotlight again. It’s all he wants and RJ doesn’t see that.

Brooke: And I am worried about your relationship with your son. No fashion challenge is worth jeopardizing your connection with RJ. I’m right about that too.

Ridge: You’re right about that. That’s why I gotta keep Dad out of this chair. And I know it sounds cold and callous, but I’m right about it. He should be out there enjoying his life or– or mentoring people, but that is not what he wants. He wants to be right here in this chair. The grand finale? Mm-mm. My dad isn’t going anywhere.

Eric: All right, that’s enough of the tears and the worry and the concern, all right? Everything’s gonna be fine. I promise you. It’s time. We have work to do. It’s time to get– it’s time to beat Ridge and get Forrester back on track.

Katie: The company is doing really well, Eric. I mean, I think your legacy is safe.

Eric: Yeah, well, I’m not– I’m not exactly sure about that. You know, the company is doing very well. Hope For The Future is a sensation.

Katie: Yeah.

Eric: And I give, uh, Hope and Thomas all the credit for that for spearheading that, but it’s– it’s fashion forward. It’s fast fashion and that’s not– that’s not what Forrester is known for. It isn’t. You know, my– my legacy is built on classic elegance, classic couture. And, you know, Ridge wants to take Couture and put an edge to it and make it trendier. I don’t– I don’t agree with that. I think when a woman wears a– wears a Forrester gown, her beauty should be timeless and shouldn’t be interrupted by some– some faddish dress. You can’t do that. But Ridge doesn’t agree with that. He– he doesn’t quite respect what I want to do, he doesn’t. He’s not taking care of my legacy for me.

Donna: Eric, this– this isn’t about the company. This is about your well-being, your future.

Eric: My future is the same as Forrester’s future. It is. Look, I– I wanna make a mark that people are gonna know. Everybody’s gonna know this mark and it’s gonna put my name on the company indelibly.

Katie: But that’s already true.

Donna: Eric, you know, I’m trying so hard to stand by you, I am, but you heard what the doctor said. He doesn’t want you to do the showdown.

Katie: It– it’s not too late to back out. I can have a press release circulating within an hour.

Donna: I think we should just put an end to this. You can tell Ridge, Katie and I will– we’ll tell Brooke and– and–

Eric: You tell them what? That I’m dying? No, come here. Come here, both of you. Look, I appreciate it so much your– your love and your concern and your support. It means so much to me. More than I can say. But, uh– but this is my battle. And it’s pretty much what I gotta tell you. This is my battle. This is my choice. It’s my life, it’s my company. And if this is my last act, I’m going to take my final bow my way.

Ridge: Mm. Well, I needed that. Thank you. How do you know?

Brooke: I think I can pick up your signals right now. Yeah.

Ridge: Okay, see if you can pick up this one. Ah?

Brooke: I think I know what that is.

Ridge: Yeah? Not even close.

Brooke: No?

Ridge: Uh-uh.

Brooke: Oh. Um… you seem a little… distracted today. What is it?

Ridge: This whole thing, fighting my dad, it’s– it’s just getting to me.

Liam: Hey, sorry to… interrupt. Boy, am I interrupting.

[ Brooke chuckles ]

Liam: Uh, I don’t suppose either of you have talked to Steffy recently.

Donna: I made you another yummy green juice.

Eric: Oh, Donna, thank you.

Donna: What are you working on?

Eric: I’m working on the walking order for the collection.

Donna: Well, anyone would be captivated by these designs, no matter what order they’re in.

Eric: I think so too. They’re beautiful. I’m very happy with them.

Donna: Yeah.

Eric: RJ’s done a wonderful job executing my designs. He really has. My grand finale is really coming together.

[ Eric sighs ]

Donna: Hey, it’s okay. You know, the doctor called and, um, is gonna come over later.

Eric: Yeah, yeah.

Donna: Hopefully, now, we can finally figure out what’s going on with you.

Eric: Yeah, that’s fine. That’s fine. I just don’t want you to worry about it, okay? I’m not worried about it, either. The last thing I want to think about. I’m gonna beat the pants off Ridge at this final showdown. I’m gonna do it.

[ Eric coughing ]

Eric: Sorry.

[ Door rattling ]

Katie: Hey, baby, I gotta call you right back, okay? I love you, too.

[ Eric coughing ]

Katie: Eric, your cough sounds horrible. Are you okay?

Eric: I, uh…

Ridge: Steffy is, uh, backpacking in The Alps, last I heard.

Liam: She’s– wow. Wow. When did that happen?

Ridge: I don’t know.

Brooke: Hopefully she can decompress from the threat of Sheila.  Speaking of which, does she know about Deacon and Sheila?

Ridge: She doesn’t know it from me. You and I haven’t been able to get a hold of her and it’s not the kind of thing you leave on a voicemail.

Liam: Sheila and Deacon Sharpe are a thing.

Eric: I’m fine, Katie. Really, I’m fine. Just– thanks for asking.

Katie: Okay. Are you sure? That sounded like some cough.

Eric: Yeah, I think it’s just allergies or something.

Donna: Yeah, it’s just been really dry out lately.

Katie: Well, take care of yourself because your schedule is about to get very full. No one can accuse me of not doing my job.

Eric: Couldn’t do any of this without you.

Katie: I just stopped by because I wanted to go over the final invite list. I have Ridge’s requests, but I’m sure there’s gonna be some overlap.

[ Eric coughing ]

Eric: I’m sorry, Katie. Um, I think I have some cough drops out here. I’ll get them.

[ Eric coughing ]

Katie: Are you sure that’s just allergies? What’s really going on with him?

Liam: So, at the moment, there’s no way to get a hold of Steffy?

Ridge: I– I don’t know. I really don’t know. Why you keep asking about Steffy?

Liam: Because I gotta– I gotta– I gotta talk to her about stuff, you know?

Brooke: Does it have to do with Kelly?

Liam: Uh, yeah, yeah. Um, as you know, I miss my daughter very much. I want her to come home. I want them all to feel– to feel safe enough to come home. Really– actually, sorry, that’s not the only reason I’m here. Um, as you know, Spencer Publications has multiple outlets covering the– the upcoming fashion event.

Ridge: So, you want me to make a pitch? ‘Cause Katie is on it.

Liam: Uh, yes, she is and she’s very thorough. I just thought, um, maybe I could give you–

RJ: Oh!

Ridge: Katie’s on it.

Liam: Fair enough. Hey, RJ.

RJ: Um, what’s up?

Liam: Nothing. I’m gonna– I’m not gonna take up any more of your time. I’m out. Good to see ya.

RJ: Good to see you too.

Liam: Let me know if you do, um, if you do talk to Steffy.

Ridge: Yeah, will do.

RJ: What was that all about?

Ridge: I don’t know.

RJ: Okay. Well, um, I– I just got the talking points from Katie about the fashion challenge. It seems like you wanted to change the rules a bit.

Ridge: No, rules are the same. Your grandpa and I, we wanted to keep it an intimate event and we’re just inviting people that are friends of Forrester Creations and they get to bid on the gowns, and whoever sells the most wins.

RJ: Hm.

Brooke: And nobody will know that it’s a fashion challenge: Father versus son.

Ridge: Yeah, no one will know what I designed or what your grandfather designed.

RJ: Right, so what I’m hearing is that you’re worried that if they know it’s Granddad’s Creations, he’s gonna win on name value alone.

Ridge: No, I’m– I’m worried people are gonna buy his gowns because it’s his “last collection.”

[ Donna scoffs ]

Donna: Nothing is going on, Katie. It’s just Eric is working day and night on a collection that could be the most important collection in his life. And regardless of his confidence and his talent, it’s stressful.

Katie: But he just seems so energetic and full of life. I mean, I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that. I just can’t believe he’s gonna walk away from something that clearly means so much to him. Forrester has defined who he is. I mean, how can he say this is his grand finale when he could have so much more to offer?

Donna: I don’t know. I– I just think this is his last one.

Katie: Why are you saying that? I mean, is there something I’m not aware of? What’s really going on, Donna?

Eric: Donna, I’m wondering if you– Donna, you remember that appointment we have, right?

Donna: Yeah. Yeah, I’m ready right now, actually.

Eric: Okay.

Donna: Yeah.

Katie: Okay, that’s my cue. Um, this is the invite list. Please look it over when you get a chance. Let me know if there’s any changes.

Eric: Oh, I will. Thank you. Thanks, Katie.

Katie: All right. I love you. I’ll see you later.

Donna: Okay.

Eric: I’m sorry, honey. I know a part of you is dying to tell Katie what’s going on with us, but– and I hate putting you in this position, but I– I wouldn’t be able to stand the pity. I wouldn’t.

Donna: I know, and I love you and I don’t want to do anything you don’t want me to do. Did you, um, cough up–

Eric: Yeah, yeah, a little bit, a little bit. Nothing to worry about. [ Eric chuckles ] My beautiful Donna. Don’t worry. It’ll be fine. I’m not going anywhere. Everything’s gonna be– I’m gonna live ’til I die. And until then, I’m gonna be holding you in my arms and be a very happy man. Okay?

Donna: Okay.

[ Knocking on door ]

Donna:  Dr. Colby, please come in. Uh, you wanted to see us?

Colby: Yes. I have news about Eric’s condition.

Ridge: How’s the line coming along?

RJ: Wouldn’t you like to know?

Ridge: Oh, I do know. I– I get all the bills. I know he’s spending money on lace and diamonds. Has he ever heard of less is more?

RJ: Yeah, I’m sure he has. Come on, Granddad knows what he’s doing.

Ridge: Oh, I know. You okay? I was just playing with you.

RJ: Yeah, yeah, yeah, fine.

Ridge: Okay? I’m glad that, uh, things are okay here, because I– I know that my dad’s upset with me. I just don’t want you to be upset with me. Actually, I’m proud of you. I’m– I’m so happy that you’re working in this business. It just always felt you would be next to me. That’s all.

Brooke: That’ll happen soon enough. Don’t make him feel guilty.

Ridge: I’m– that’s not what I– I’m not– I’m sorry. That’s not what I mean to do at all. I’ve just asked you so many times to come work with me, and then you ended up saying no to me and then working with Granddad, and um… I don’t know. Is there something I’m not seeing here? Did something happen? What?

Donna: There– there has to be something more that we can do. Specialists that we– we can consult or something.

Colby: Of course. We’ll explore every avenue, but we also have to be realistic about what we’re dealing with.

[ Donna scoffs ]

Donna: No, I’m not just– I’m not just gonna sit back and accept this.

Eric: Donna, Donna, don’t worry.

Donna: Don’t worry? Don’t worry? What are you– what, did you not just hear what he said? You’re– you– you– oh, my god, I can’t believe this is happening. It’s just–

Colby: I’m sorry, okay? I hate delivering this kind of news and having to give it to you, but we’ve been running extensive tests and with Mr. Forrester experiencing hemoptysis, coughing up blood, I’m afraid his condition is worsening. My advice is that you take it easy and conserve your strength.

Donna: So– so you don’t want him doing the fashion show or any–

Colby: I strongly recommend against it. It quite literally could kill him.

Donna: Okay. Well, then, then it’s settled.

Eric: No, no, no, no, no, nothing’s settled. Doctor, excuse me, but if you think you can come into my house and drop this kind of a bomb, that I’m dying… and I’m gonna just sit here and wait for it– ha–

Donna: What?

Eric: You’re very much mistaken, all due respect.

Donna: What?

Eric: I’m gonna do this show. If this is… if this is the way I’m going out, then I’m going to go out on my own terms. This is my life! This is my skill and my talent. This is my gift! This is how I’ve lived all my years and if you think I’m going to forego seeing these– these designs come to life for all the world to see, you’re mistaken about that too. Now, if I have so little left in my life, then I’m gonna toast it with a glass of champagne and I’m gonna die a happy man. You think I’m gonna give this up? This collection will be a reality. I don’t care if it kills me. I don’t care.

Ridge: You know you can tell me anything, right? Is there something going on? Something, something wrong, maybe?

Brooke: Ridge, stop putting him on the spot. I’m sure RJ feels bad that he can’t work with you right now, but having his grandpa as a mentor is a wonderful thing.

RJ: No, Mom, it’s fine. It’s– it’s okay. I understand why he’s asking these questions. Dad, I didn’t think I’d be caught in this situation. I– I didn’t even know when i got home, if I wanted to design. I thought if I ever ended up designing, it’d be with you, here. I– I really did. I still want to. It’s just… Granddad is…

Ridge: What, he needs you? Is that it?

RJ: Yeah. Yeah, he needs me, and I need him right now. You know he’s a force of nature, right, Dad? Like– like, if anyone can understand that, it would be you. I mean, when he– when he comes up with ideas, it’s like a stream of consciousness. He– one second, he’s talking about how satin moves, and then how– how he wants to do a taper in a waist, and then he just picks up a pencil and he has it on a piece of paper, in seconds. Working with him, it’s– it’s like– it’s like magic when he’s in the zone. It’s emotional. He creates every single design with express intentions to make people feel something. I’ve never experienced anything like that before. It’s incredible. Designing, for him, is life, and nothing is gonna stop him. And that… I’m proud to be a part of that.

Ridge: I’m proud you’re part of that too. My point is, when you came back to Forrester, you didn’t want to do any of this at all. And now you’re doing it with Granddad. I just want to know if I’m missing something. Is my dad okay?

Donna: I just can’t believe this. I– I’ve loved you for so long. I’ve dreamed of being with you and I lost you once, and it was the biggest mistake of my entire life. How am I gonna lose you again?

Eric: Don’t, don’t, don’t. Don’t go there. Stay right here. Right here. Feel our hearts beat. Listen to ’em, really. This is what we have, right now. It doesn’t matter what the doctor says. I’m gonna live ’til I’m about 110 years old. It doesn’t matter what he says. I promise you.

Donna: How can you say that?

Eric: Because it doesn’t matter, Donna. We’re all gonna die. Everyone’s gonna die. And we’re all not gonna sit around and curl up in a ball and wait for it. We’re not going to. Look at this. Look. This is the path I’m on and this is what I’m gonna do. This is my– my grand finale. It doesn’t matter that some doctor says I’m gonna die. It doesn’t matter because I’m here and I’m alive and I’m with you. It’s gonna last forever. Okay?

Donna: Okay.

Eric: I love you.

[ Donna exhales ]

Donna: I love you so much.

Eric: See? Now, I’m gonna take a walk, and then I’ll come back in and– and get some work done and so on. Chin up, Donna Logan.

[ Donna chuckles ]

Donna: Okay. Okay.

Donna and Eric: Okay.

[ Donna inhales and exhales ]

Katie: Donna.

Donna: Katie? What?

Katie: Is what I heard just now true?

Donna: What– what did you hear?

Katie: Eric is dying?

Donna: Yeah. Yeah, it’s true. I– I– I… I, uh… the doctor was just here and, um, he gave us– he gave us the news tonight.

Katie: Honey… honey, I’m so sorry.

[ Donna sobbing ]

Katie: I’m so sorry. I know how much you love him. I can’t believe you’ve been going through all this all by yourself. Why didn’t you tell me? I would have been here for you.

Donna: What am I gonna do? What am I gonna do? I can’t lose him.

Katie: You’re not gonna lose him. You’re not. You’re not. You want to know why?

Donna: Why?

Katie: Because Eric has a life force inside of him that is strong and fierce and vital.

Donna: Oh, god, Katie, he’s just– he’s been working so hard. He’s been pushing himself and he’s just–

Katie: Oh, my god. Oh, my god, the fashion show. That’s why he keeps calling this his last finale.

Donna: Yes.

Katie: Donna, does– does Ridge know?

Donna: No! No, no, no, no. He cannot know. He doesn’t want him to.

Katie: Donna, you have to tell him.

Donna: No.

Katie: Ridge has to know that his father is dying. He has to know.

Ridge: Something doesn’t add up. You working with Granddad on his– what is his last line, his grand finale. I need you to be completely honest with me. Something going on with my dad? Something I don’t know about?

Recap written by Suzanne

Liam drops by Forrester Creations to see Ridge and Brooke, who are kissing (as usual). He wonders if they’ve heard from Steffy (since he left the voicemail on her phone about Deacon and Sheila being together). Ridge says that she’s hiking in The Alps. RJ comes in just as Liam is leaving. Ridge jokes with him but then pressures him to tell him what’s going on with Eric. He even asks if Eric is OK, but RJ won’t answer. He just says that Eric needs him.

When Katie visits Donna and Eric, Eric keeps having coughing fits, but he claims that it’s just allergies. After Eric leaves the room, Katie asks if he’s OK. Later, the doctor visits to tell them that Eric is dying. We don’t get any details about what disease Eric has. The doctor tells him that he should rest and not do the fashion show, but Eric insists on doing it, even if it kills him. Eric holds Donna, who is crying. He urges her to live in the moment. Katie overhears and sympathizes with Donna. Donna tells her not to tell Ridge.

Sheila: So, let me guess. Um… you shoving my face into your plate. Just another accident.

Li: Just a reminder how disgusting I think it is that you’re not rotting in some prison cell for the rest of your life.

Deacon: Hope, listen to me. You know I love you.

Hope: Dad, you can’t love me and claim to love sheila. You can’T. Because loving her is hurting me and the two cannot exist at the same time. Dad, sheila is toxic. You know that. She is going to kill whatever relationship that we have and I just– I want you to put an end to this with her.

Liam: Hey.

Thomas: Liam. What brings you by?

Liam: Oh, you know the uzhe. I’m– I’m looking for hope.

Thomas: Ah. What for?

Liam: Uh, something for beth.

Thomas: I don’t know where she is.

Liam: Okay. Yeah, I figured. I, um, I’ll just put this here. I saw hope the other day. She, uh, she told me about deacon and sheila.

Thomas: Yeah, I heard about that too. Don’t know what the hell her father is thinking.

Liam: Yeah, I don’t either. It’s– it’s insane and it’s insane on multiple levels ’cause it’s not just deacon, it’s finn too. I mean, finn has invited sheila into steffy’s life and now she’s a threat to her safety and we’ll never be rid of her.

Finn: Let’s order a second round of imaging two weeks from now and– and you can tell mr. Norris, I’ll be right in to see him. Thanks, tina. Ridge. Hey, what’s, uh, what’s up?

Ridge: Ah. You know this and that. Deacon and your mother are happily in love.

Finn: Sheila and deacon. Li is my mother.

Ridge: Oh. Well, either way. How much of this have you told steffy?

Liam: I mean, what I don’t get is finn knows he should have cut all ties with sheila from the very beginning and instead he just, he chooses to give her hope. I mean, hugging her and calling her mom, all of it. I mean, she– she’s the kind of person you don’t give an inch to, right? It’s obvious and yet he gives her a mile.

Thomas: I actually don’t disagree with you. Yeah, finn has handled this whole situation all wrong.

Liam: Yeah, he has and now we’re all paying the price for it, living under constant threat. I mean, look at steffy, she’s had to give up her home and her family and she’s miles away from everyone she loves and– and it’s killing her and frankly, it’s killing me too because I want her back.

Finn: I haven’t told steffy about sheila and deacon yet, no.

Ridge: Okay.

Finn: Look, ridge, you know– you have to know how much of a nightmare this has been for me. Sheila has turned my life upside down. She’s effectively taken my family away from me. What if she doesn’t stop until she destroys everything we love?

Deacon: Baby, it kills me to see you in pain like this and to know that I’m the cause of it. You don’t know this, but I made a promise to myself that if you ever let me back in your life, give me a second chance, I’d never disappoint you again.

Hope: Then don’T. You do have a choice, dad. And we’ve come so far. Don’t throw it away on someone like sheila. She only cares about what she wants and what she needs. Dad, she– she is using you. She is manipulating you and the minute that you’ve given all that you can give her, she will be gone because that is who she is, dad. She is not capable of change because she is a sociopath. She is not capable of love. She is dangerous, dad.

Li: Oh. The sauce is bitter. Just like you.

Thomas: You want my sister back? I agree with you. Finn has made mistakes as far as sheila is concerned. But finn is still my sister’s husband and she loves him and all I want for her is to be loved and safe.

Liam: Yeah, I know. That’s all I want too. Which is why finn has to act like a real husband and keep sheila away.

Thomas: Like you acted like a real husband with hope when you ran away as soon as things got a little tough? Yeah. Sure. How the hell do you think you’re gonna protect my sister from sheila better than finn?

Liam: Look, all I want is for steffy to be back where she belongs and that means finn keeping that monster away from us. As a matter of fact, I think– I think I’m gonna make sure he does that. Make sure hope gets this.

Finn: I miss my family, ridge. I– I never wanted to bring sheila into our lives, but at this point I’m– it’s beyond my control.

Ridge: Beyond your control or not, son, steffy needs to know about sheila and deacon.

Deacon: Oh, god, I just wish I could get you to understand. I don’t know why sheila and I click, but we just do. We– we– we speak the same language. Hope, all our lives, we’ve been the outsiders. You know, the misfits, the convicts.

Hope: Don’t compare yourself to her, dad. It is not a fair comparison. Yes, you have made mistakes, but you’re nothing compared to what sheila has done. Dad, please. Please, I am begging you, get yourself out of this before it is too late.

[ Knocking on door ]

Deacon: Yeah?

Hollis: Hey, boss. Listen, we have a situation downstairs that needs your attention asap.

Deacon: Okay. All right, thanks. Honey. I’m sorry, duty calls. I gotta go. Please don’t lose faith in your old man. I know what I’m doing. I swear.

Sheila: I can– I can hear how angry you are and I deserve it. So you go ahead, you just– you go ahead and let go on me. But if you think that I’m gonna lose it and do something rash or stupid and fall for these attempts of yours to provoke me, you should know by now that i don’t easily fall for the bait. I am not stupid. So, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I am not going to do something that is going to land me back in jail.

Finn: I know steffy needs to be told about sheila and deacon, but I– I don’t want to scare her off anymore.

Ridge: All right, fair enough. But when it’s time, it’s your story to tell.

Deacon: What the hell is going on?

Sheila: Oh, uh, li said that there was something in her sauce and I– I didn’t see anything, so she just wanted me to have a closer look so she just– she decided to put my face in it.

Li: I don’t know you very well, deacon. I mean, you must be crazy to be involved with such a heinous creature like sheila carter.

Thomas: Hey, I got your text. Everything okay?

Hope: No, I’m definitely not okay. I just came from my dad’s and I just, I can’t believe that he’s doing this, you know? That he would even think that I could accept a relationship with him and sheila when she’s a monster. And she’s– he’s willing to throw away our entire relationship and everything that we had worked for, for that. But that, um, that’s actually not– that’s not why I wanted to see you.

Thomas: No?

Hope: No. I came here to do this.

Finn: I’m just finishing up, tina. Did you prep, mr. Norris? Liam.

Liam: I will, uh, tell tina about mr. Norris on my way out.

Finn: What are you doing here?

Liam: You have to ask? You know, everybody’s gonna find out about your mom and deacon eventually, right? Like, hope just told me.

Finn: So, you rushed on over here because…

Liam: Because I want to find out what you’re gonna do about it. Steffy’s never gonna come home now. I mean, not, not as long as she knows that deacon and your mom are shacking up together. I mean that, that just makes the situation more dangerous. Like, you understand that. What did she say when you told her? Oh, okay. She doesn’t know about any of this, does she? You didn’t tell her.

Hope: Thanks. I, um, I needed that.

Thomas: This is what I want. You here in my arms. ‘Cause I love you. It’s that simple.

Hope: Thomas, I– I don’t know what I feel, but I do know that I’m grateful for your understanding and I just– I– I don’t ever want to take advantage of that.

Thomas: You never could take advantage of that. You’re too wonderful a person.

Hope: I’m trying. And you know me, always trying my best, putting on a brave face, but really, behind closed doors, I am still processing the end of my marriage and my family as I thought I knew it. And I just realized that I’ve been in something for so long with someone that wasn’t fully 100% committed to me. And now that I have space and time away from it, I just realize how exhausting that was.

Thomas: I’m sorry, hope. And not because you and liam aren’t together right now. I’m– I’m sorry because he has hurt you over and over again.

Hope: I had found a home in liam, but it was never really mine to begin with. And so now, I just… I don’t know if I’m going to feel that connection again with another man.

Thomas: Hey, hey, hey, hey, that’s okay. I understand. It’s completely fine, okay? Look… I get it and I’m here. This is what I want, to be here with you. Holding you, loving you. I will always love you.

Liam: Wow, that’s, uh, that’s pretty unbelievable, you haven’t told steffy any of this.

Finn: Liam.

Liam: I mean, no, hey, listen, you don’t have to like, explain it to me. I can see it on your face. Your psycho birth mother is now hooking up with deacon sharpe and you don’t have the good sense to tell steffy about it? Like, whatever happened to the whole, it’s your job to protect your family thing?

Finn: You know what? Yeah, it is. It’s my job, okay? It’s not yours. I mean, you– you’re questioning my commitment and my love to steffy after you’ve bounced back and forth between her and hope so many times, we’ve lost count?

Liam: Hey, listen, you– you can try to make this about me all you want, but there’s really no excuse for you keeping this from steffy because it’s getting worse and worse by the minute, right? Sheila is worming her way, not just into your life, but into all of our lives.

Finn: Look, if sheila is gonna listen to anyone else, it’s deacon and deacon thinks he can control her.

Liam: Yeah, deacon’s wrong. And so are you. He cannot keep steffy protected and clearly, neither can you. I mean, it’s like if steffy is with finn, then she’s in danger. If she’s with finn, she’s in danger. Finn, danger.

Tina: Dr. Finnegan, you’re needed right away.

Finn: Yeah, I’ll– I’ll be right there. You better listen to me. You need to really listen. I know what you’re doing. It’s what you always do and it’s disrespectful. It’s disrespectful to me and it’s disrespectful to steffy. It’s a scumbag move. Stay out of my business and stay the hell away from my wife.

Liam: Screw it.

Steffy: Hey, you’ve reached steffy forrester. Leave your name and number and I’ll get back to you.

Liam: Hey, it’s me. Um… it’s good to hear your voice, even if only a recording of it. Um, I debated, uh, for about two seconds whether or not to leave you this message. Uh, and maybe if I thought you were gonna hear it directly from finn, it would be different, but who am I kidding? You’re not going to. Um… you deserve to come home feeling safe and with finn, you’re just not gonna have that feeling, especially given what I just learned. So, sheila and deacon sharpe are a thing. Now, they are romantically involved, finn knows about it and he’s keeping it from you. Like I– I– I don’t, I don’t know what else to tell you. I mean, the guy has been blowing this from day one and I think we both know why. It’s because he’s sheila’s son. He’s never gonna keep you and your family safe. He’S… he’s never gonna keep you safe the way that I would. You know, I want more than it’s because he’s sheila’s son. He’s never gonna keep you and your family safe. He’S… he’s never gonna keep you safe the way that I would. You know, I want more than anything for you to come home, but don’t come home to him. Come home to me. We were married once. We could do it again.

Hope: Carter should be joining us soon.

Brooke: [ Sighs] This presentation could’ve waited, sweetie. There’s a lot going on.

Hope: Which is why I am doing this because I need to do something, anything, with this energy and it needs to be productive and hope for the future needs an approved budget.

Brooke: Hm. Thomas is a gifted designer, that’s for sure. I just wish the two of you weren’t working so closely together. It worries me.

Hope: On second thought, let’s change the subject then about something that is more important, like my dad and sheila carter.

Sheila: So… what do you think?

Deacon: Wow. I’d place an order.

Sheila: Well, I am here to serve.

Deacon: Yeah?

Sheila: Want a side of fries with that?

Deacon: Ooh, that’s an interesting visual. So, it’s a big day today, working at the restaurant. Balancing plates, filling water glasses.

Sheila: Yeah.

Deacon: Taking orders.

Sheila: What could possibly go wrong?

Deacon: Hey, il giardino is a huge part of my life now.

Sheila: I know. I know. And I don’t want any problems, I– I swear. I just want a nice, simple normal life.

Deacon: I hope so ’cause I’ve really gone to bat for you, telling everyone you’ve changed, which means you have got to stop obsessing about finn.

Finn: Anyways, I was just hoping to catch you, steffy, but uh, I’m sure you have your hands full over there. Just know how much I love you and how much I miss you.

Li: Good. I’m glad to see you focusing on your family. It’s time, finn. It’s time to bring steffy, hayes and kelly home.

Finn: Yeah, I– I agree with you, but steffy’s still concerned about sheila.

Li: You have to cut her out. Get her out of your life.

Finn: Yeah, well, it’s not that simple, mom. Especially now.

Li: What’s sheila done? Has she tried to see you again?

Finn: Not exactly, but someone reached out on her behalf.

Li: Who?

Finn: Her new love. She and deacon are together.

Li: What?

Brooke: This whole situation is a nightmare. It’s like deacon’s lost his mind.

Hope: I’m at a total loss because I don’t know how to feel about it. On the one hand, I don’t know if I should be furious with my dad for somehow managing to fall in love with sheila carter or terrified for him because she might hurt him.

Carter: Ladies.

Brooke: Hello.

Hope: So, we have the proposed budget, we have thomas’ samples.

Carter: That’s gonna have to wait. Um… I just talked to ridge. Deacon and sheila are together? No offense, hope, but what the hell is your father thinking?

Sheila: You want me to give up on having a relationship with my son?

Deacon: I know how much you love finn and how connected you feel to him, but come on. You saw his reaction when he found out about the two of us.

Sheila: Deacon, my son–

Deacon: Your son wants nothing to do with you. At least not right now. Babe, I’m sorry if that hurts, but it’s the truth. If you keep forcing it, if you keep trying to make him have a relationship with you, you’re gonna lose everything, okay? You gotta give him time. You gotta give– you gotta give everyone time to see that you’ve changed. That you’re no longer a threat, and that includes steffy and the kids. Look, I’ve gone to bat for you. I’ve put everything on the line here. I’m risking my relationship with my daughter and I’m doing it because I love you. I wanna have a– a future with you, but we can only build that life together if you stay out of finn and steffy’s lives. Can you do that?

Li: Deacon is as crazy as sheila is if he thinks he can control that psychopath. Somehow keep us safe? Please tell me you’re not buying into all of this.

Finn: I don’t know, mom. I’m just– look, I’m desperate to get my family back. And look, ultimately, sheila just wants to be loved. So, maybe deacon’s love will be enough for her.

Li: She wants you, finn. She wants your love.

Finn: Look, I have done everything but walk her out of L.A. Myself. The fact is, the bottom line is I can’t make sheila do anything. I gotta be optimistic. I mean, what other choices do I have? Steffy will not come back until she’s positive that sheila is no longer a threat, so if deacon can control her, maybe it’s the answer.

Carter: Has your father lost his mind?

Hope: I don’t think my father knows what he’s doing. Oh, and by the way, apparently, they’re in love.

[ Brooke groaning ]

Carter: I was afraid this might happen.

Brooke: What are you saying?

Carter: Ridge filled me in on deacon and sheila’s past involvement a while back. When sheila was released, we confronted deacon to see if he knew what sheila might be up to. I had a feeling he might be covering.

Hope: I just don’t see how my father could have any involvement with sheila after all the horrible things she has done to so many of us. I mean, it feels like a betrayal. Dad and I have worked so hard to get to this place, to have a solid relationship and this, him thinking that he’s magically changed sheila, it just feels reckless, so.

Deacon: Sheila, you gotta stay away from finn and his family. Until everyone knows that you’re not a threat.

Sheila: I would never do anything to hurt finn or his family because I love them.

Deacon: I hate to point out the obvious here, but that has not always been the case. You may have some making up to do. Now, babe, we love each other, right?

Sheila: Yes. Of course, I love you. I love you.

Deacon: Okay, all right. Then, that means we have to make sacrifices for each other. Look, all your life, you’ve wanted someone to love you, to accept you for who you are. Well, guess what? I am that someone. I believe in you. I believe that you can change. I can give you all the love that you need that you will never need to look anywhere else. You heard what I said to finn and I told ridge and brooke and hope the same thing. I will keep them safe from you, especially steffy and the kids. I mean, honestly, I’m helping you out.

Sheila: And not having a relationship with my son is– is helping me out?

Deacon: Sheila, finn will never forgive you if steffy doesn’t come back and you’re the cause of it. And all the hard work that you’ve done trying to build a relationship with him, that will be lost. I’m– I’m putting everything on the line here for you. I’m taking a stand. No one has ever done that for you before and you need to remember that. If you love me the way that you say you do, then you gotta promise me, and you gotta– you gotta mean that promise, that you will have no communication with finn and steffy. Tell me you can do that. Deal with sheila anymore?

Finn: No, of course I am. Sheila will stay out of my life. I’ll make sure of it,

Li: You’re not gonna deal with sheila anymore?

Finn: No, of course I am. Sheila will stay out of my life. I’ll make sure of it, but if deacon can help with that, I mean, I’ll take it.

Li: Is she planning on living with him, next to the alley where she shot you and your wife?

Finn: I don’t know. She is working at il giardino though. Apparently, it’s part of her rehabilitation.

Li: Rehabilitation. That’s laughable. Sheila carter should be in prison. It is the grossest miscarriage of justice that she is not rotting in a cell for the rest of her life. Somehow, there’s gotta be a way to get her locked up again.

Deacon: Sheila. Sheila, I need to hear you say that you’re gonna stay away from finn and his family.

Sheila: My goodness, I have got to skedaddle because I don’t want to be late on my first day of work. I don’t want people to think I’m getting preferential treatment, even though I do have an in with the boss.

Deacon: Cool your jets for a second, all right? I need an answer. Tell me you understand me.

Sheila: Look, I just want to lead a nice, quiet, normal life. I’m not looking to cause trouble or any kind of conflict. I’m not looking to go to battle, okay? And I do want a foot massage when I get home.

Deacon: All nine toes.

Sheila: All nine toes and then some. Waiting tables is difficult work.

Deacon: I know.

Sheila: Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Deacon: All right. Go get ’em, slugger. Bye.

Carter: Have you talked to your father about this? How upset you are?

Hope: Of course. We’ve all tried to get him to see how much this is affecting us.

Carter: Does he not care?

Brooke: Of course, he cares, carter. Honey, he loves you very much.

Hope: I know. He does. Which could also be the thing we need to work in our favor.

Brooke: He’s worked very hard to have a relationship with you and I know he would be devastated to lose that now.

Hope: Can this wait? Because I need to try to get through to him and make him see how dangerous this is, especially if he gets in the way of sheila and her relationship with finn. He has to listen to me and I’m going to put a stop to this before anyone else gets hurt.

Brooke: Oh, honey, just be careful, please.

Sheila: Geez, hollis, I know that deacon told you to keep an eye on me, but it’s okay to blink every once in a while.

Hollis: Yeah, he’s a bigger man than me.

[ Sheila chuckling ]

Sheila: Um, I’m just gonna have to take your word on that.

Hollis: Take it slow.

Sheila: Not my first rodeo. There you go. And for you as well. Let me know if there’s anything else I can get you at all, please. I look forward to seeing you both next time. All right. Hi, my name is sheila. I’ll be your server today. Can I start you with some sparkling water?

Li: You despicable, diabolical creature.

Sheila: Um, maybe a cocktail would be better.

Li: Do the other patrons here know that they’re being waited on by a murderous psychopath? You make me sick to my stomach.

Sheila: Then, you know what? We should definitely go with bubbles because that is gonna help settle your tummy. Here you go.

[ Li sighing ]

[ Glass shattering ]

Li: Whoopsie. Accident.

Sheila: No problem. I’ll just get that cleaned up.

Deacon: Hope.

Hope: Is she here?

Deacon: Uh, no. She’s, uh, she’s downstairs working.

Hope: At the restaurant? Wow, wow.

Deacon: Yeah, I– I was just gonna go down there. I– I’ve got time for you. I’m the boss.

Hope: Are you sure that’s going to last much longer? Once people find out that sheila carter is working in your restaurant?

Deacon: I hope so.

Hope: And if you’re wrong? If you lose everything that you’ve worked so hard to build?

Deacon: I gotta believe I’m not.

Hope: What about losing me? I mean, do you really think that I could ever accept you and sheila together? Is that worth losing me?

Deacon: Hope, I love you.

Hope: Do you? I gotta be honest, I’m having a really, really hard time believing that right now.

Deacon: Please don’t lose faith in me.

Hope: I am trying so hard to hold onto that. Everything that we have worked so hard to build over the years, dad. All that time we missed when I was younger. And now, you just want to throw it away for her? Isn’t your family worth fighting for? I want to share my life with you. I want you to be able to watch your grandchildren grow up. I mean, beth’s birthday? I never would’ve invited you if you were with sheila. Think about that. Think about everything that you would be willing to walk away from for her. Dad… choose us. Choose your family and put an end to this mess with sheila today.

Sheila: There you go. All better.

Li: You missed a spot. I suppose you’re good at mopping from all the time you spent in prison. Did you have to clean toilets too? Seems appropriate. Maybe, you can have your old job again when you’re back where you belong, behind bars.

Sheila: You know, I can understand why you’d choose to be less than amicable today, li, but I’m not going back to prison. I’m a changed woman. I– I have deacon in my life now.

Li: That’s right. Your one true love.

Sheila: All I want is to lead a simple, normal peaceful life and I’ll never again be a threat to steffy or your– your son.

Li: Don’t you mean your son?

Sheila: No, I mean your son, li. I’ve changed. All I’ve ever wanted in my life is to be loved, and yes, I thought I could find that love with finn, but there are circumstances that simply would not allow that. But I have that now. I have love with deacon. He’s the reason why I’m still in L.A.

Li: What happens when deacon’s done with you, sheila, hm? And he kicks you to the curb like everyone else?

Sheila: If we were to break up, you’d still have nothing to worry about because I made a promise. Hollis, thank you.

Hollis: My pleasure.

Sheila: Your meal.

Li: I didn’t order anything.

Sheila: I know you didn’T. I took it upon myself, on the house, of course, because you seem a little hangry. Bolognese. It’s one of deacon’s specialties. Buon appetito.

Li: Oh, excuse me, waitress?

Sheila: Yeah?

Li: There seems to be something in my sauce.

Sheila: There is?

Li: Uh-huh. Right here.

Sheila: Well, I don’t see anything.

Li: Yeah, look more closely. It’s right here.

Hollis: Oh, my god.

[ Dramatic music ]

Brooke: It’s beautiful.

Ridge: Hm. Yeah.

Brooke: You okay? You seem–

Ridge: I’m fine. It’s, you know.

Brooke: I know. It’s weighing on you. Fashion challenge. You don’t want to compete with your father.

Ridge: I don’T. I love my dad, I ju– for some reason, he… he wants to pick this fight with me. I’m gonna win this. And he’s not going to know what to do.

Eric: You didn’t have to make a house call, doctor.

Donna: He most certainly did. Thank you again, doctor.

Colby: Of course.

Donna: Eric has been coughing up blood and not telling us about it. Can’t seem to figure out what’s going on here, you know, and we need to know the truth, doctor, please. What’s wrong with eric?

Rj: Hey, you’re back.

Luna: For you.

Rj: For– for me?

Luna: Mm-hmm.

Rj: What– what is this?

Luna: It’s honeydew. I don’t know, I thought you might need a break. I, uh, I picked you up something while I was out for marketing. I know it’s not much, but I just– I wanted to thank you again for what you did, defending me to aunt li.

Finn: So, you admit that there’s bad blood between you and aunt poppy?

Li: Penelope. Yes. She ruined my life years ago.

Finn: You’ve never said anything before. What are you talking about?

Finn: Come on, mom, tell me. What happened with you and your sister?

Li: You have more important things to focus on. Like a family.

Finn: I’ll get steffy back. That’s not what I’m talking about. I want to hear about my aunt and luna.

Rj: Okay, this is delicious.

[ Luna chuckles ] Thank you, I need another one of these someday. But no, seriously, I– I should be the one thanking you. Honestly, I mean, being able to open up to you about my granddad’s situation, especially when I can’t talk about it to anybody else, it means– it means a lot to me.

Luna: Well, I’m glad I can help. Even if it’s just a talk. Secret’s safe, I won’t say a word.

Brooke: This is crazy.

Ridge: What’s crazy?

Brooke: I, uh, it’s just crazy. It’s crazy to think that our son is doing this with his grandfather. Did you ever stop to think about it?

Ridge: Stop to think what? I love my son, I love my dad and I’m gonna beat the pants off of both of them? No. Don’t think about that. Hey, I’m grateful rj’s working. He’s learning from the best.

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Ridge: Just not the best in this competition.

Eric: Of course, I’m dying, doctor. But no more than you or you. Look, I have to tell you, I’ve never felt more alive in my life.

Colby: I’m glad to hear that. A strong, positive attitude is very important. To your point, I’m honestly still not sure what the diagnosis is. Especially now with this development. I’d like to take a listen. Can you help him get his blazer off?

Donna: Yeah, of course. Yes.

Colby: Just have a seat for me. Right. Breathe normally. All right. Take a few deep breaths for me. Mm-hmm. Good. Again.

[ Eric sharply exhales ] All right. You can breathe normally. Now, you said that these bouts of coughing up blood have been going on for…

Eric: A couple of weeks.

Colby: A couple of weeks. Eric, I have to say, this is very serious.

Finn: Hey, don’t you try to run out the clock and stall until your next appointment. Because I’ll still be here later asking the same questions. So, what happened? What happened with you and aunt poppy?

Li: Luna’s mother, my sister, disrespected me. Almost ruined my career. She had no direction, no focus in life. I tried helping her out. I got her a job at the gift shop in the hospital. Steady work. And what did she do with that?

[ Li sighs ] When the chief surgeon’s wife found out about their relationship, guess who paid the price. My sister turned my life upside down. I won’t let luna and my sister do that to us again.

Ridge: That’s perfect. Thank you.

[ Ridge clears throat ] Hm.

Brooke: What?

Ridge: I remember sitting right over there when I was a kid. Watching my dad be on this big desk, he was sailing a boat through a fashion storm and coming out the other side. I always respected him, you know.

Brooke: He knows that. We all do.

Ridge: And now, it’s me sitting here.

Brooke: Yes. And you are doing a tremendous job.

Ridge: Tremendous. Thank you.

[ Brooke chuckles ] My dad asked me to do this. And now he wants to come back and run this company again? It doesn’t work that way. If he wants to come and– and give some input, give some suggestions, I think that’s perfect. But I’m running this company now. He needs to go and live his life.

Colby: To say, this is very serious. Eric, we can’t shrug it off.

Eric: I’m not shrugging it off, doctor. It’s just that I’m concentrating on forrester creations. That’s what I’m doing.

Colby: Work? Eric have you ever heard the analogy of juggling the five balls of life?

Eric: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The work is rubber, it’ll bounce back. But that’s not true in this case. I have to finish this project.

Donna: Eric and his son have this silly challenge.

Eric: It’s- it’s much more than that. It’s more than that, donna.

Donna: O– okay, I’m sorry. This challenge to see who is the better designer and the winner’s collection goes into production and eric is determined to show that he’s still on top and not to be forgotten. Honey bear. You have nothing to prove. I mean, you’re one of the finest designers in the entire world, your– your– your legacy is solidified. And you heard what the doctor said, didn’t you? I mean, I know I did. Whatever this is, is– is serious. And I don’t– I don’t even want to think about it, but I’m not gonna lose you over this– this– this competition. You’re stressing yourself needlessly. And for what?

Eric: No, donna. I need this.

Donna: No.

Eric: I need this.

Donna: No, you don’T.

Eric: Yes, I do. Yes. I do. Donna, look. Imagine– imagine a symphony without– without its final movement. I– imagine a– a beautiful landscape without– without– without birds in the sky. This is my life’s work, donna. It’s a culmination of my life’s work and my– my grand finale. I have to finish.

Finn: Right, so aunt poppy and the head of surgery got caught–

Li: Having an affair. When his wife found out, all hell broke loose. He blamed me because she was my sister. I got her the job. Suddenly, I started losing shifts. You might not remember. You were much younger. But I took that job at memorial.

Finn: Yeah.

Li: I was actually transferred. I worked so hard for so many years. The only female surgeon in my class. Did my sister care? Did she ever stop to think of me and my position at the hospital? No. I refuse to let my sister and luna destroy my life again, and now, yours. I forbid it.

Rj: Shoot.

Luna: Problem?

Rj: Yeah, there’s a mix-up at receiving. I’ll be right back.

Brooke: Don’t be mad, but, I for one, am gonna be happy when this fashion challenge is over and I know donna feels the same way. It just caused too much stress between you and eric.

Ridge: Yeah, ’cause it’s not– it’s more than a challenge, isn’t it?

Brooke: Yeah, it’s, uh, the succession aspect. You and your daughter are running the company. Your co-ceos, eric stepped back, but now, he wants to run it.

Ridge: Well, he can’T. It doesn’t work that way.

Brooke: Try telling that to eric forrester.

Ridge: Whose side are you on, brooke?

Brooke: Come on, ridge. You know what I mean. You both have very strong opinions. It’s– it’s complicated. And you can’t forget how much you really do love your father.

Ridge: Hey, hey. Never gonna forget that. But what he’s doing doesn’t make sense. It’s wrong for the company. I’ll put a stop to it.

Colby: I respect your desire, eric. It’s inspiring to be so vital at your age, but–

Eric: And what age is that, doctor?

Colby: I’m just saying that it’s one thing to be able to do something, but another to put it in practice. Okay, between the tremors and coughing up blood, you can’t put any more stress on your body. You need to be resting. Conserving energy.

Donna: Thank you, doctor. I have been begging eric to stop pushing himself.

Eric: Look, I’m pushing myself to face the biggest challenge of my life, of my career and I’m gonna win it. I’m gonna win it. When I do, I gotta get back. Back in my office and behind the desk where I– where I invented forrester creations. And I took this little fashion house and I– I turned it into an– an international enterprise. And nothing’s gonna stop me. Not– not some shaky hand and– and not a bloody handkerchief. And not you, doctor. Not even you.

Li: No one knows what penelope’s done to me.

Finn: Well, I’m here asking. Tell me.

Li: The way my sister’s led her life, so free and easy, no regard for the sacrifice and heartbreak I suffered. Our parents. It’s just– it’s just not fair.

Rj: Okay. That’s over. Granddad would have not been happy about that.

Luna: I love seeing how much you care about him.

Rj: Yeah, of course, I care about him. Especially, with how sick he might be. It’s just– it’s killing me that I can’t just tell my dad about this.

Luna: Hey. You said you were here for me. I’m here for you, rj. Come on.

Ridge: See, this is what I mean. The amount of money my dad is spending on this line just so he can be in the spotlight again.

Brooke: Well, he does keep calling it his “grand finale.”

Ridge: Grand finale for now. In a few years from now, he’s just gonna do it again. My dad isn’t going anywhere.

Colby: You know my recommendations. So does donna. I will say, given this latest development, it could help us determine a diagnosis.

Donna: You know, with all due respect, doctor, it’s kind of ridiculous that we don’t even have a diagnosis yet.

Eric: Donna, it’s okay.

Donna: No, maybe, we should get a second opinion.

Eric: It’s all right.

Donna: No, it’s not okay, eric because we need answers. Answers now, doctor, even if they’re scary.

Colby: I understand your frustrations and your worries. I’ll personally be in touch soon with the game plan.

Donna: Yes, it does– and I’m– I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to–

Colby: No apologies necessary. We do anything for the ones that we love.

Donna: Yeah.

Colby: That goes for you too. If not for you, do it for donna. For your family. Take it easy. Don’t push yourself. I will see myself out.

Donna: Thank you, doctor. I hope you’re not mad at me for calling dr. Colby like that.

Eric: How could I be angry with you for loving me so much? But donna, I have to do this. I’m an artist. I’m a designer. I can’t let these things go unfinished. I’m not finished. Not like that stapler. That old stapler of mine that ridge just unceremoniously just threw it out because it was, uh– because it was too old and it didn’t function anymore. Well, I function. That stapler was so important to me. He should have known that. That stapler was on my desk from the very first day at forrester. And it held together everything that was important to this company. Our first receipts, everything. I understand your concern. I know you wish that I– I wasn’t doing this challenge with ridge, going head to head with him. I know you wish I could put down a pencil and relax and travel the world with you and– and… I wish I could do that too, but I can’T. I… I have to do this, donna. I have this passion inside to create beauty. It’s who I am. It’s who I am as a man and as an artist, and this is the man you fell in love with. I’m right about it, I’m right. I’m gonna do this thing and I’m gonna come out on top and I’m gonna live my life the way I wanna live it.

Donna: You are going to win this competition with ridge, I know that you can. You are the greatest designer in the entire universe.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: And I’m with you 100%.

Eric: Until the end.

Donna: Until the end.

[ Relaxing music ]

Brooke: This is what we needed.

Ridge: It is. Why did we leave the house?

Brooke: I don’t know. I just– a change of scenery, you know. So we can forget about deacon and sheila.

Ridge: I think about deacon all the time. Not in that way. I just think that I don’t like the guy and he’s– he’s– I just didn’t think he was an idiot.

Brooke: Ugh, okay. Well, he says that he loves sheila.

Ridge: That’s what I mean. He’s an idiot.

Brooke: Look, he’s made some bad decisions, but he’s made some good decisions lately, like his relationship with his daughter and look what he’s done to il giardino. He’s made it a hit. And maybe he just looks at sheila differently. He’s unbiased compared to how we see her.

Ridge: Okay. Do you hear yourself? We’re talking about sheila.

Brooke: Yeah, I know.

[ Brooke groaning ] I just wanna– I wanna forget about sheila. I don’t want to talk about her. We have more important things to worry about, like my daughter and her relationship with your son, if we can call it that. You know, I am worried about her. She’s not even listening to me. See, here I go again with this negativity. I wanna stop that. No more negativity. I wanna think positive and I wanna think about beautiful things.

Ridge: Thank you. Thank you.

Brooke: Why yes, you are beautiful.

Ridge: Hm?

Brooke: Mm-hmm. And this, of course. Wow, this design? This is truly inspiring.

Ridge: It is inspired. By you.

Brooke: Aw.

Ridge: So, when you think about it, freud would say that you’re the reason I wanna defeat my father.

Brooke: Oh.

[ Brooke giggling ]

Eric: Yeah.

[ Eric sighing ] Nah. Don’t like it. Rj, look, I was gonna go with the guipure, but I think it’s too contemporary, it’s too modern for us, so let’s go with the, uh, alencon or the embroidered. I’m not sure. We’ll have to decide today though. All right. Good. Thank you.

[ Eric coughing ]

Donna: I heard you from the other room. Are you okay?

Eric: [ Raspy ] Yeah, yeah. Yes, I’m fine.

Rj: I don’t care what li says. You’re not leaving forrester. Hey, luna. Just the person I wanted to see.

Luna: Oh, yeah? You got an assignment?

Rj: No, maybe it just puts me in a good mood to see you.

Luna: That’s so sweet.

Rj: Hey, it’s just the truth.

Luna: Can I see?

Rj: Yeah. What do you think?

Luna: It’s so beautiful.

Rj: You think?

Luna: I mean, you’re so talented. And so kind and thoughtful. I wanted to thank you again for helping me stand up to my aunt li.

Li: Obviously, we will continually monitor him, but I say another 48 hours, he’ll be out of icu. Another 24-36 before pt’s in there to get him up and moving. He was lucky.

Finn: Lucky you were on call. Saved his life.

Li: One minute, I’m fighting with the vending machine–

Finn: Oh, the one outside ortho?

Li: Yeah.

Finn: Ugh.

Li: The next, I’m being called into surgery.

Finn: No, it’s a good thing because that vending machine didn’t stand a chance.

Li: What about you? Any new updates? Maybe on the personal side? Any progress with steffy?

Finn: Afraid not, but I’m determined to get steffy and the kids home as soon as possible.

Li: Make it happen. Your family needs you.

Finn: Speaking of, uh, family… I saw luna the other day.

Li: I heard.

Finn: Why are you insisting she leaves forrester creations?

[ Li sighing ]

Finn: Okay, nice try. That– that didn’t even vibrate.

Li: Just checking my next appointment.

Finn: Mom, come on. What’s up?

Li: Nothing. Maureen just shifted my schedule.

Finn: No. Why are you making luna quit her internship?

Rj: Hey, you don’t need to thank me, all right? You’re the one who stood up to your aunt. I just put you two in the same room. Come on. It wasn’t right the way she was treating you, yes?

Luna: Yeah, but the way you defended me.

Rj: She has no right to tell you whether you can or cannot work at forrester, all right? We all love having you here. Especially me. Yeah?

Luna: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: How could you possibly narrow this down for the challenge?

Ridge: Well, that’s a good problem to have, right?

Charlie: Hey, boss. I just got word there is another shipment of bling on its way. My team is prepped and anxious, as is charlie. And this whole challenge has really got charlie’s heart a-thumping.

Ridge: Well, you tell charlie from me that that is exactly why we’re doing this.

Charlie: There you go. Oh, good one. You got me. But, I mean, this is exciting. Father versus son, sensei versus seito. Peanut butter versus banana.

Ridge: Can I be the banana, please?

Charlie: You sure? I mean, you could– you could have peanut butter. Bottom line– bottom line is it’s eric versus ridge.

Donna: Are you sure you’re okay? I mean, you– you’ve been coughing more and more these days.

Eric: Look, I’m– I’m– oh, here, here–

Donna: I got it, I got it.

[ Donna gasping ] Eric…

can we get real clear

about life with psoriasis?

Li: Let’s up her to five milligrams of prednisone. That should help. Four days and taper. Yes. What? You would have done something different?

Finn: No, no. You just never answered me.

Li: About your cousin? What’s the big deal? Luna came into town, she’s headed out.

Finn: Sounds like you’re driving her out, and the more you keep avoiding my questions, the more I wonder why. What is going on between you and luna?

Rj: Okay. It looks like granddad is finally zeroing in on a lace.

Luna: Okay. I’ll, uh, I’ll let the cutting room know what we’re not going with so far.

Rj: Thanks, princess.

Luna: The challenge is coming up. You think eric will be ready?

Rj: Oh, yeah. No doubt. Me on the other hand.

Luna: Oh, come on. What are you talking about? You’re killing it.

Rj: Hey, well, with you by my side helping me out, I feel a lot better.

Luna: I know what you mean.

Rj: You know, we were talking earlier about your aunt and you know, I just– I’ve been meaning to tell you this. I just want you to know, I completely believe in you, 100%, that you can handle all of this. I just want you to know whatever, whenever, I’m here for you.

Ridge: Can charlie let me know when the shipment comes in, please?

Charlie: You will be the first to know.

Ridge: That’s good. That’s good.

Charlie: Now, what I– I want to know is will this fashion challenge be happening at high noon? I mean, I– I’m getting a vibe here like it’s the showdown at the ok corral.

Brooke: I think you’re mixing up your westerns.

Charlie: Yeah– yeah, but you know, it’s– it’s the good, the bad and the ugly. You can have ugly, if you want.

Ridge: That’s generous, right? Charlie, here’s the thing. There’s not gonna be a shootout. It’s all about gamesmanship. But, this may be my dad’s last stand.

Eric: Donna, let’s– let’s not make more out of it than it really is.

Donna: You just coughed up blood.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Wait. Something tells me this isn’t the first time, is it? You’ve been hiding this from me? Wait. What– what did we just say about keeping secrets? How can I help you–

Eric: Donna, I just didn’t want you to worry anymore than you already have been.

[ Donna sighing ]

Donna: Eric.

Eric: I’ll be okay. It’s all right. It’s all right. Don’t worry. Don’T. Still having bladder leaks?

Finn: I don’t understand. I mean, luna seems so nice and sweet. I remember when she was little, and then, she and aunt poppy–

Li: Penelope.

Finn: Yeah. They just disappeared from our lives. Luna says you’re the reason why, mother. So, I’m going to ask you again: What is going on?

Luna: Yeah, if I’m being honest, my aunt li’s been hard on my mom and me for… for as long as I could remember and that’s the reason I didn’t want her knowing that I was working here. You’ve changed that. I mean, you’re such a great guy, rj. The way you care about me and support me is just…

Rj: Hey. You have been supporting me with my granddad and his whole situation and the weight of that, okay? All I’m doing is just returning the favor, all right? Come here.

Brooke: Katie said you’re working on the vip guest list?

Charlie: Oh, yeah. Just, you know, standard operating procedure these days. Just have to make sure everything’s all set for the showdown at the ok corral.

Ridge: You’ve really gotta stop calling it that.

Charlie: Oh, sure thing, sheriff– I mean, mr. Earp– I mean– I mean, mr. Forrester.

Ridge: We don’t want anyone fanning the flames. This is just a fashion showdown with my father.

Donna: How long has this been going on? Please talk to me, eric. Tell me.

Eric: No, no, I’m sorry. You’re right. It’s not the first time. It’s been going on for a while.

[ Eric sighing ] What– what are you doing?

Donna: I am calling your doctor. Something tells me that he doesn’t know either. Hi, yes. Um, this– yeah, yeah, I’ll hold.

Eric: Now, donna, you can– you can call the doctor, you can do all you want. I mean, they can do all the testing they want, it’s not gonna change anything. I’m gonna live while I’m alive, all right, donna? I’m determined to do my– my grand finale. Who says you can’t go for bold

Finn: Mom, come on, can you not just–

Li: What is your fascination with this? You should be focused on your family.

Finn: Luna is family.

Li: Fine. You want to know what I have against luna and her mother, my little sister? Luna’s mother turned my life upside down years ago. I will never forgive her for that.

Rj: You know, you came to forrester just at the right time. Seriously, I was– I was doing everything I could to try and help him. It’s just… it’s overwhelming.

Luna: I know how much you care about your grandfather. You don’t want to see him lose the fashion challenge to your dad.

Rj: And we both know that his health isn’t doing great. I just– I don’t think my dad realizes just how much this fashion challenge means to him.

Brooke: I know you’re in a very difficult position. You love and respect your father, but you’re determined to beat him on the runway.

Ridge: Well, he’s making me do this. I mean, you see his designs. You know, the– the time and the effort that– there’s no stopping this runaway train.

Donna: Hey. I brought you a few things.

Eric: Oh, here, here.

Donna: No, no. You need to rest.

Eric: Yeah, yeah.

Donna: Tea and honey and water, and oh, look at this yummy green juice full of antioxidants and every vitamin and mineral that you could possibly think of. Yeah?

Eric: And this is for what? For what?

Donna: It’s– it’s healthy. I want you to be healthy.

Eric: Donna, I’m fine. Really, I’m fine.

Donna: Okay, clearly, you’re not fine, eric, okay? Here’s one of your pills. You don’t have to take it for about ten minutes, but there you go. I’ll open it for you.

Eric: Thank you. Look… I hate that you called the doctor. You didn’t have to call the doctor.

Donna: Eric, I had to call the doctor. I mean, he’s gonna be–

[ Knocking on door ]

Eric: Here, here.

Donna: No, please just– just rest. Let me take care of you for once, okay? Please. Dr. Colby, thank you. Please come in. Thank you for, um, coming so quickly like that.

Colby: Of course. Eric.

Eric: Hello, doctor.

Colby: Tell me what’s going on. How are you feeling, eric?

Eric: I feel like you’re wasting your time.

Colby: Well, donna says that you’re coughing up blood. You’re only wasting time if you’re not honest with us, yourself. How long has this been going on?

Eric: Ah… couple of weeks.

Donna: What– what– what does this mean, doctor? I mean, why– why do we not have a diagnosis yet? I mean, clearly, his condition is getting worse and we need to know, doctor. We need– we need the truth.

Colby: Donna, I…

Donna: Is eric… is he dying?

[ Dramatic music ]

Hope: I just– I just don’t want to think right now. I don’t– I don’t wanna think about Sheila. I don’t wanna think about my dad. I don’t wanna think about anything, really. Just, please, will you help me forget, Thomas?

Thomas: Of course, whatever you need. I love you, Hope.

Brooke: Do you know why we’re here? We’re here because our daughter came to me with tears in her eyes, begging me to get through to you.

Deacon: I never wanted to hurt Hope.

Sheila: It’s the last thing either one of us wanted.

Brooke: You have so much to lose, Deacon, especially with Hope. Tell Sheila to get lost, today!

Li: So, you ran right to RJ. Hm. Just like your mother, never taking responsibility.

Luna: Aunt Li, please. That’s not what happened.

RJ: She’s right. That isn’t what happened. I saw that she was incredibly upset and I begged her to tell me what was going on so that I could help her. She actually didn’t know that I invited you here today or when I asked Finn to come here to help back me up.

Li: Finn knows?

RJ: Every family has issues and mine’s no exception, okay? But Luna is not gonna be subject to whatever you dictate her life to be, or where she’s allowed to work, or how she’s allowed to live. You do not decide those things. She’s not leaving Forrester Creations.

Li: You know what you need to do. I am not asking. You say goodbye to Forrester Creations, say goodbye to RJ and never come back.

RJ: Luna is our newest intern. She’s smart, helpful, eager without overstepping, and she’s very sweet. She’s proven to be exceptionally valuable with the new line that my granddad and I are making, so we can’t lose her.

Luna: Look, I really appreciate the support, RJ, but I think I need to talk to my aunt alone and settle this once and for all.

RJ: You sure?

Luna: Yeah.

[ Door shutting ]

Li: Well, now that that nonsense is over, you can start packing. Make the smart choice and leave before things get even worse, Luna.

Sheila: I know this is hard for everyone to understand, but we care for one another.

Brooke: Is that true, Deacon? You really have feelings for Sheila?

Deacon: Brooke, you– you know me probably better than anyone and you know my strengths, my weaknesses–

Ridge: Is there a point to this?

Deacon: Look, I– I know this isn’t the answer that you want to hear, but just look at me in the eye. You can see it, can’t you? I can’t explain it. It’s true. I care about her.

Brooke: Deacon, what– what are you doing? How could you possibly, possibly have feelings for Sheila?

Deacon: I get it. I– I know. It’s crazy, right? I know I’m risking my future, my– my relationship with Hope, my friendship with you. I– I swear, I have tried to break up with her. I have. Every time I do, I go right back to her. I can’t explain it. We get each other. You know, we make each other happy. The misfits, the– the rejects, the criminals. We finally found someone who truly understands the other. I’m sorry that this has been such a shock to you and Hope. I’m just asking– I’m begging you, please, just keep an open mind to the possibility that maybe this could be a good thing.

Ridge: A good thing!

Deacon: Look, I vow to both of you that Sheila will never be a threat to you or your family.

Li: I should have known it was only a matter of time before you showed up. It’s always something.

Luna: I haven’t seen you in years, Aunt Li. No one even knew that I was related to you or Finn. I mean, why can’t you just let me–

Li: Let you what? Blow up my life like your mother has countless times before? She got pregnant, embarrassed our entire family. Make something of herself? Oh, no. She floated from one music festival to the next, doing her arts and crafts.

Luna: My mom’s talented.

Li: She’s a disappointment to our entire family. Our parents worked hard to give us opportunities. I’ve given back. What have we seen in return from your mother? Nothing!

Luna: She doesn’t have the money like you do.

Li: Oh, excuses. That’s all your mother ever has: Excuses. What’s your excuse, Luna, for being here at Finn’s family business, hm? Or am I supposed to believe that all this is a coincidence, that you didn’t realize exactly what you were doing?

Luna: I have always loved fashion, ever since I was little and you’d know that if you cared to learn about me. I mean, I never thought that an opportunity like this would be possible for me. I mean, have you ever given a thought about me, about what I want and my dreams? I have never been happier than I am being here at Forrester Creations. And I am not gonna let you take that away from me, Aunt Li.

Hope: I need to– I need to hear you say it.

Thomas: I love you, Hope. You have my total and undivided commitment.

Ridge: You’re gonna keep us safe from Sheila? In what world is that a possibility?

Deacon: I’m not getting through to you, am I? Look, I believe that people change for two reasons: fear and love, okay? And all Sheila’s life, she’s been afraid that she would never have love and that has caused her to do terrible things, but she’s changed now because she’s finally found love with me.

Brooke: Love?

Ridge: You– you do know she’s not capable of that, right?

Deacon: She’s not the same woman anymore. I’m, I’m just asking that you and Hope– you too, Ridge– just consider the possibility, all right? Please. I promise, she’s never gonna be a threat to you or Steffy or anyone in your family. I guarantee it.

Li: Look at Luna, all grown up, standing up for herself. Or so she thinks. The world isn’t a playground, Luna. It doesn’t owe you. I certainly don’t. You have to grind and sacrifice and never stop achieving until you make it. Something you’ve never been exposed to from your mother.

Luna: I’m not gonna let you make me feel small and unimportant, the same way you do to my mom. You’re the older sister. You should reach out to her and help her. Okay, so– so you’re a doctor. Sure, I’m impressed, but that doesn’t give you the right to treat me and my mom this way. Finn was shot. We wanted to be there for him and for you, but you didn’t let us. I mean, who does that? We’re family. So much has gone on that you’ve completely excluded us from, but I’m not gonna let you exclude me from this, Aunt Li. This is my opportunity, one that I’ve been waiting for for my entire life. I’m not gonna let you or anyone else take that away.

Sheila: Thank you.

Deacon: Ah, I didn’t do anything.

Sheila: Oh, like hell you didn’t. You stood up for me in front of Brooke and Ridge. I’ve never felt that kind of support before, kind of love.

Deacon: Well, you better get used to it because I love you, Sheila.

Sheila: I love you.

Thomas: You got me, Hope, and I’ve always loved you. This is a dream come true.

[ Door knobs rattling ]

Brooke: Hope? Hope, are you in there? Why is the door locked?

Thomas: Of course.

Hope: Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

[ Hope clearing her throat ]

Brooke: Hi.

Thomas: Hi.

Brooke: You have got to be kidding me.

Luna: Look, I don’t mean to upset you or be disrespectful, Aunt Li, which is honestly more than I can say for how you’ve been treating my mom and me, but I’m not leaving Forrester Creations. RJ doesn’t want me to go. But more importantly, I don’t want to go. This is my dream and I’ve worked so hard to get here. You may scare my mom, but you don’t scare me.

Li: You and I both know what a mistake you’re making. Just remember, I gave you a chance to make all of this go away, for you and your mom.

[ Luna sighing ]

RJ: Hey… I, uh, saw your aunt headed to the elevator. Glad it was her, not you. So, does that mean… you did it. You stood up to her. I knew! I knew you could do it. Wow, I’m so proud of you. I mean, I know that wasn’t easy, from everything you told me about her, right?

Luna: Thank you so much.

RJ: Thank me? What did I do?

Luna: You defended me, and you gave me the confidence to stand up to my aunt. I’ve always been so intimidated by her. Not today, because of you. I don’t wanna leave. I love being here and I love being with you, RJ.

Hope: Look, I know this isn’t what you were expecting, Mom, but we don’t need the lecture.

Brooke: I just came from seeing Deacon and Sheila, like you begged me to.

Hope: What? How did it go?

Brooke: Do you mind? I really need to talk to my daughter, alone.

Thomas: Ah. Sure.

Brooke: Oh, my God. [ Brooke sighing ] Ah, okay. Well, this isn’t how I expected the day to go. First, I go over to see Deacon and Sheila is there, then I come back here to talk to you about that and here you are, shacking up with Thomas, once again.

Hope: Well, could we maybe not make the comparison between us and dad and Sheila? So, tell me, what happened?

Brooke: Uh, same as what happened with you, I suppose. I went over there and tried to talk to him and he says that he’s in love with Sheila, that we don’t need to worry about her, that she’s not a threat to us anymore. So, needless to say, I couldn’t get through to him. But, I certainly hope that I can get through to you about Thomas.

Hope: No, Mom, I really don’t wanna hear that right now.

Brooke: Hope.

Hope: Mom, seriously, you have made your feelings about Thomas very clear to me, okay? But I can make my own decisions.

Brooke: What has gotten into you?

Hope: I don’t know. Is that the answer you want, Mom? Honestly, I don’t know. All I know is that Thomas and I, we are two consenting adults and we don’t have to justify our relationship to anyone.

Brooke: Relationship? I know you don’t love him.

Hope: Yeah, Mom, he knows. I have made it perfectly clear to him.

Brooke: What about him? I mean, has he been honest with you? Honest with himself? Because I know he loves you, honey.

Hope: Yeah. Yeah, he does. And it feels great.

Brooke: My god, what are you doing? You are playing with fire. You know that, right? He was obsessed with you, Hope. I know you haven’t forgotten that. He’s like a ticking time bomb, ready to go off. Okay, maybe he’s controlling himself right now, but what I’m worried about is if he can’t control his emotions and his feelings any longer. What then? What is he going to do then? What?

Thomas: Let me love you. Let me love you the way that no one else can.

Hope: But I’m not in love with you, Thomas. I don’t want to take advantage of your feelings for me.

Brooke: I’m scared for you, Hope. Thomas is dangerous. He’s dangerous!

Recap written by Suzanne

Brooke is shocked to learn that Deacon and Sheila are together. Hope and Brooke notice that Ridge isn’t surprised, so they’re a bit miffed at him for keeping it a secret. He explains that he thought it was over and that he and Bill promised Deacon they wouldn’t say anything to anyone, since he helped them put Sheila in jail. Hope is still annoyed at Ridge, and also, very disappointed in Deacon. She asks Brooke to talk to him. Brooke and Ridge leave to go face Deacon and Sheila.

Hope is distracted while talking to Thomas about their designs. He tells her that he’s missed her (where’s she been?). Finn’s words about how she can do better than Thomas ring in her ears.  He gives her the usual support, so they make out.

Deacon and Sheila make out, but he’s still upset about Hope’s reaction and worried that he’s lost her. Sheila goes to take a bath and invites him to join her there. Brooke and Ridge arrive to harangue Deacon. Sheila walks out in a bathrobe, with a towel on her head. Brooke calls her a monster, just like Hope did. She predicts that Sheila will take everything away from Deacon. She urges him to tell Sheila to take a hike. Deacon protests that Sheila has changed, but they don’t believe it.

RJ and Luna kiss. RJ texts Finn to come there, so he does. Finn is shocked to learn that Luna, whom he hasn’t seen since she was a child, is working there and all grown. RJ asks him to talk to Li about her attitude concerning Luna working there, so Finn agrees to talk to her. Luna is grateful that RJ did this for her. Later, Li also arrives (RJ texted her as well). RJ tells her that Luna is a valued employee, so she’s not going anywhere. Li tells him that it’s none of his business, and she declares again that Luna is leaving.

[ Dramatic music ]

Brooke: Hope, what on earth are you talking about?

Hope: No, it’s true, mom. I– I saw it with my own eyes. The two of them, together. Dad and… her.

Brooke: Deacon and sheila. They’re involved?

[ Deacon sighing ]

Sheila: Come on, don’t say the sparks have gone out for us already. I just– I thought a little romance would help take your mind off of your concerns with hope.

Deacon: Yeah, me too. I’m sorry, babe. I just, uh… I just can’t help but wonder if– if I’ve lost my daughter for telling her about us.

Luna: I’m so happy there’s no more secrets between us.

Rj: Yeah. You know about my granddad, I know about li being your aunt. I just– I hate that you’ve been dealing with all this stress. I mean, it’s– it’s not worth it.

Luna: Mm, then you must not know my aunt very well.

Rj: All right, well, I’m just saying that you don’t have to go through this alone anymore, okay? I’m here for you. I’m not gonna let li drive you out of forrester creations. Hey. I don’t wanna lose you.

Deacon: It’s only a matter of time before brooke finds out about the two of us.

Sheila: If– if brooke thinks that she can judge us– unless you’re concerned because you still have feelings for her?

Deacon: No. That ship’s sailed. Besides, she has her forrester back now, not that that would change a thing. I just– I don’t get why she does this to herself.

Sheila: Right. Well, you know, it is brooke. Always the martyr. Although, it should be more like a masochist.

[ Phone beeping ]

Rj: Hello? Yeah. Okay, great. Thank you. Don’t be mad.

Luna: Why would I–

Rj: I, uh, texted someone that I think we really should talk to.

Luna: Who?

Rj: Your cousin.

[ Knocking on door ]

Finn: Hey, rj. I’m on my way to the hospital. What’s– what’s so important?

Rj: Ah, well…

Luna: Hi.

Finn: Oh, sorry. I, um– I didn’t mean to interrupt.

Rj: No–

Luna: No, finn, it’s me, luna. Luna nozawa, your cousin?

Finn: Lu– luna? Oh, my– how–

[ Luna laughing ] Hey! Well, it– how long has it– I mean, it’s been years!

Luna: Yeah. I know, and I’m sorry about that. I mean, I would have liked to have seen you.

Finn: Yeah, I mean, when was the last time? I mean, you would have– god, you would’ve been, like, in grade school!

Luna: Yeah.

Finn: What’s going– I mean, what– what are you doing here?

Rj: Uh, luna is our newest intern.

Finn: You’re– you’re working here? That’s– that’s– wow, that’s fantastic!

Rj: Yeah, right? Well, um, your mom doesn’t think so, which is why I– I wanted to talk to you.

Brooke: You must’ve misunderstood, honey.

Hope: Mm-mm. Nope. Nothing to misunderstand, mom. Dad was standing there with sheila and they told me that they were in love.

Brooke: No! No. This can’t be! This is— this is ridiculous! Why aren’t you more shocked?

Ridge: More shocked? Why, more shocked? Why? I know. I– I knew this already.

Brooke and hope: You knew?

Ridge: Yes!

Brooke: What–

Ridge: Not this, not now, but I– I… I thought they were done.

Hope: I’m sorry, how did you find out?

Brooke: And more importantly, why didn’t you tell us? I was stuck.

Sheila: I just hate to see you so down. I hope you’re not having any regrets.

Deacon: Hey, life’s too short for regrets. Besides, I asked you to marry me, remember?

Sheila: Yeah. [ Chuckles ] Yeah, but I– all we did was tell the kids about our relationship. They don’t even know we’re engaged yet, and… I know that you’re worried. You’re concerned about losing hope.

Deacon: I’m not gonna let it get to that. I’ll figure something out. Hopefully, it just– just gonna take some time.

Sheila: Yeah. Would you let me give you a massage?

Deacon: Mm, hard pass.

Sheila: You’re such a baby.

[ Deacon chuckling ] All right, well, I– I am gonna go take a bath.

Deacon: Okay.

Sheila: And I would strongly encourage you to come join me so that I can wash away some of that concern.

Deacon: Concern?

Sheila: Yeah. Concern.

Deacon: Okay.

Brooke: I can’t believe that you didn’t tell us that deacon and sheila were together!

Ridge: It was complicated. We didn’t ask too many questions. We just wanted to put sheila away for good.

Brooke: Okay. So you and bill made a promise to deacon that you wouldn’t say anything to anybody, especially hope and me, in exchange for deacon helping you take sheila down.

Ridge: Yeah, that’s the deal we made. And I’m sorry, I should have said something. I don’t wanna keep things from you, but I thought this would be best for the family and keep everybody safe.

Hope: And how did that turn out? I mean, sheila’s free. My dad is still with her. Maybe if you had told us when you found out, we might have been able to prevent it from happening.

Brooke: Oh, honey. I’m as shocked as you are. I can’t believe this. I mean, deacon’s made some bad mistakes and decisions in the past, but this is horrible. I mean, how are you feeling after finding out?

[ Hope chuckling ]

Hope: Stunned. Disappointed. Sad. Dad was just turning his entire life around and now…

Brooke: I feel the same way. I don’t understand why.

Hope: Could you talk to him? Please, mom, you’ve always been able to get through to him. Could– could you maybe get him to open his eyes and– and get him to see what a terrible, just dangerous situation this is?

Brooke: Yes, yes, honey. I will do that. This ends today.

Ridge: Whoa, whoa, whoa. You’re not going over there alone. Sheila’s there. I’ll go with you. Let’s go.

Brooke: Okay.

Finn: Wait, I’m- I’m confused. Like, what does my mom have to do with you working here? Also, this is just crazy for me because I mean, I haven’t seen you since you were a kid!

Luna: Yeah. Um, there’s a reason for that, actually. I don’t– I don’t mean to talk poorly about your mom, but she’s the reason why we haven’t seen each other. She hasn’t really gotten along with my mom.

Finn: Yeah, I just, uh– I mean, there was no secret that they weren’t that close.

Luna: Right. I can’t imagine the one-sided stories you’ve heard. Sorry, it’s just because they never really get along. Um, aunt li’s, like, hyper-protective of you and she hasn’t been allowing me or my mom to be part of your life here in L.A.

Rj: Yeah. Like, when she found out that she was working here, she came down really hard, and she– she insisted that she leave. I– I just– I don’t feel like that that’s her call. I mean, plus, on top of that, she’s an incredibly important part of what my granddad and I are doing on– on our new collection. And I also– you know, I want her to stay. I’m just asking you if you could, you know, step up and help your cousin.

Finn: Well, yeah. I mean, we all know that my mom can be a little intense.

Rj: Yeah. Yeah, you know, but, I mean, come on, to mess with her career like this? I mean, she– she’s incredibly talented and intelligent and she– she fits in here perfectly. Everybody here wants her to stay. So, I’m just asking, you know, if you could back luna with your mom. It’d be really appreciated, but I just wanna go on record as saying that… luna’s not leaving forrester creations. Febreze!

[ Knocking at door ]

Brooke: Deacon! It’s me! Open up. Now!

[ Deacon sighing ]

Deacon: Hey.

Brooke: Where is she? Have you lost your mind?

Deacon: I get that this is a– a shock–

Brooke: A shock? A shock? This is appalling. You’ve made a good life for yourself, deacon. Now, you wanna throw it all away for some sociopath like sheila carter?

[ Sheila clears throat ]

Ridge: Ah.

Sheila: Well, news, uh… news seems to travel fast.

Brooke: Well, there she is. Why do you wanna be with a monster like this? You know of all the things that she’s done. You know what she’s going to do to you? She is going to take your status. She’s gonna take your restaurant. She’s gonna take away your relationship with our daughter and she’s going to destroy it and she’s not gonna think twice about it. Don’t let her cause any more damage than she’s already done. Tell her. Tell her to get lost and never come back.

Rj: Yeah, I should also say that luna had no idea that I texted you, by the way.

Luna: Yeah, this was not how I pictured reconnecting with my cousin after all these years. I used to look up to you so much. Like, literally, you were always showing off climbing that tree in the backyard.

Finn: Yeah, well… you know, going up is the easy part, but, uh, coming down, that’s– you know, that’s different.

Luna: I hated not seeing you.

Finn: Well, I’m sorry about that, if it really was because of our moms and their own issues.

[ Cell phone chiming ] Oh, hey, look, I, um– I gotta get to work, but… look, I– I promise, I’ll– I’ll talk to my mom about you.

Luna: Thank you.

Finn: All right. Good to see you.

Luna: Thank you.

Rj: Hey, thank you, man. Seriously, I appreciate it. Thanks for helping us.

Finn: Got it.

Rj: So, are you upset?

Luna: What, that I told you my secret and then you went and got my cousin involved? No. Not at all. I actually really appreciate it. How did you do that?

Rj: How’d I do– how did I text him?

Luna: No! No, I mean, like, how did you know that this is exactly what I needed and what I couldn’t bring myself to do? I mean, I wanted to see finn so badly. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about aunt li.

Rj: Yeah, I know. Well, um, you do need to talk to her… and she’s on her way. Right now.

Luna: Aunt li’s coming here?

Thomas: You were right about the beading.

Hope: Hm?

Thomas: Was it my attention to detail that tripped you up or was it what you were talking to me about– it was what you were talking to me about earlier. What the heck was your dad thinking?

Hope: I don’t know. Honestly, I’m– I’m still in shock and I’m trying really hard not to think about my dad and sheila… especially when we have so much we need to be working on, so.

Thomas: Yeah. Well, I’m– I’m glad to hear that. We do have a lot to work on. I don’t know, it’s– I’ve missed spending more time with you. I miss this. I miss us. Stouffer’s makes you happyfull

Luna: Aunt li’s on her way here?

Rj: Actually, charlie texted me a couple minutes ago and said that she’s in the building. Hey, listen.

[ Luna groaning ] We’re gonna handle this, okay? We’re gonna do it together.

[ Door rattling ]

Li: Rj, hi.

Rj: Li… I know that luna is your niece and I just wanna say that I do not understand why you are treating her so poorly and trying to dissuade her from working at forrester.

Li: No, you don’t understand, rj. This is a family matter. It’s none of your business.

Rj: Forrester creations is my business. It’s my family’s business and I have been working with luna for weeks now and she has proven to be incredibly talented and intelligent and she is welcome at forrester. My dad thinks so, my granddad thinks so and I’m sure that steffy would agree, okay? So, li, don’t tell luna, our intern, that she’s not allowed to work here ’cause she’s not going anywhere.

Li: Well, this is our family business, rj, and I’ve made it crystal clear to luna about what she needs to do. She’s written her letter of resignation. She is leaving forrester creations today.

Finn: You know, maybe

thomas has changed.

Maybe he’s new and reformed

and that would be wonderful,

but it doesn’t change

the fact that you are

an incredible person

who deserves better

than thomas.

Brooke: He’s right.

You do deserve better than

thomas. In your mind,

do you think he’s right?

Thomas: I lost you again.

Hope: Sorry.

Thomas: No. It’s okay. You never have to apologize with me. That’s what you get. Total commitment, love, unconditional support.

Ridge: I came here looking for this animal and you told me you had no contact with her. You swore to me!

Deacon: Oh, really? Like you swore to me that you wouldn’t say anything about the two of us? Carter? Look, man, you’re a pragmatic guy. What good would it have done if I told you?

Ridge: You’re a bigger idiot than I thought.

Sheila: You know what, you should know better than anyone else, sometimes love just doesn’t make sense.

Ridge: Oh, god. Look–

Sheila: The heart wants what it wants–

Ridge: Give me a break–

Deacon: I didn’t tell– I didn’t tell you about us because I know that sheila’s not a threat anymore. Not to steffy or her kids. Not the way you think.

Ridge: How? She’s been a threat to my family for as long as I can remember. Now, magically, she’s changed?

Deacon: No, not magically, okay? But everybody deserves a chance at rehabilitation if they seriously want a shot at– at a new life, at doing better. I mean, look at me!

Brooke: Deacon, you have changed and you’ve grown! That’s why I don’t understand any of this. Why do you wanna be with her? Look at what you’ve done. You’ve made il giardino a hit. You spent time really rebuilding your relationship with our daughter. Our relationship is better than we’ve ever had it, ever. I am– I am so, so proud of you, but this? This has got to end. You have to tell sheila to leave and do it today.

Recap written by Suzanne

Hope and Finn can’t believe that Deacon and Sheila are in love. She thanks him for telling her to go see Deacon so she could see what was going on. She decides to go see Brooke and let her know. She thinks Brooke will be able to talk him out of it. They’re worried about what might happen in the future if Sheila feels threatened.

Sheila is relieved that their kids know they’re in love, but Deacon is still very sad that Hope reacted so badly. Sheila optimistically thinks that this just proves how much their kids love them. They agree that they should keep their engagement a secret for a while.

Ridge and Brooke make out in the design office. She’s been inspiring his designs. Ridge is sure that he’s going to win the competition against Eric, but he hates the fact that RJ will also be on the losing side. He’s worried that it will ruin his confidence in designing. Brooke thinks it’s best not to baby RJ if he’s going to be in the fashion industry. They discuss the competition some more. Hope drops by and gives them the bad news about Deacon and Sheila.

RJ begs Luna to tell him why she’s resigning, even though she clearly doesn’t want to. She reluctantly tells him about Li not wanting her there (but not about why Li hates her mother). He doesn’t really understand why Li doesn’t want her there, but he’s sorry that she’s had to deal with all this alone. He talks Luna out of resigning at Forrester. They kiss again.

Hope: My father and your mother together. This– this is insane.

Finn: No, I– I know. I– I couldn’t believe it when they told me.

Hope: Okay, my dad said that he is in love with sheila. In love. I mean, that doesn’t just happen overnight. They clearly must have been carrying on like this for a while and kept it a secret. I mean… what is my dad thinking?

Sheila: It’s kind of a relief our kids know, don’t you think?

Deacon: I think I’m feeling a lot of things. Relief isn’t one of them.

Sheila: Okay, I mean, finn and– and hope, we knew that they were going to be upset by this. There wasn’t anything that was ever gonna change that. I gotta tell you, my big takeaway from all of this is their reaction to our relationship proves that our– our children love us.

Deacon: That’s your big takeaway?

Sheila: Never underestimate the power of love, deacon. Wouldn’t it be something if our relationship is actually something that brings our families together?

Deacon: Yeah, that would be something.

Ridge: Mm.

Brooke: Ah. If we keep this up, we’ll never get any work done.

Ridge: You nuts? This is how I work. This is how I get inspired.

Brooke: Yeah?

Ridge: Uh-huh.

Brooke: Well, I have to say, this is really inspired.

Ridge: Well, that’s what I’m talking about. Look at it. And this is because of you. Like this. See this, how this sparkles? The way your eyes sparkle when you give me that look? That. That one? Yeah. Mm, right there. And see how this falls right here?

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Ridge: Just like your neck.

[ Brooke giggles ] Yeah?

Brooke: Wow. I didn’t know a neck could do all that.

Ridge: Mm-hmm. Your neck, your eyes, your… neck.

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Ridge: I’m just a simple man. With a woman like you, I can do anything.

Rj: I’m just gonna pretend I didn’t see the letter of resignation.

Luna: Rj, please. It’s for the best.

Rj: Luna, I’m not gonna let you walk out that door.

Brooke: So, you’re still confident that you’re going to win the design challenge?

Ridge: Yeah, I am. And sometimes, I wish I weren’T.

Brooke: Because of rj?

Ridge: Yeah. I don’t wanna destroy his confidence. And I get it, no one just walks up to the plate and hits a home run the first time, even with eric forrester coaching you. I just– I sometimes wish he were working with me, you know?

Brooke: Mm.

Ridge: Maybe save him for what’s to come.

Rj: You told me that it’s a family matter. Come on, let me– let me help you. Let me see what I can do.

Luna: Being here with you at forrester, I mean, it was too good to be true. And listen, it means the world to me that you want me to stay, but… it can’t happen. It’s better for everyone if I just go, okay? Just please trust me on this.

Rj: I trust you. Of course, I trust you. I want you just to trust me.

Luna: Rj, please. I have to go.

Rj: Please, just tell me what’s going on, okay? Please, just open up to me.

Sheila: Tell me what you’re feeling. I mean, seriously, don’t you feelerhaour children know about us?

Deacon: I feel like I just pulled the pin on a hand grenade.

[ Sheila laughs ] I think we ought to wait ’til the dust settles before we tell anyone about the engagement. It might push ’em right over the edge. I mean, love is one thing, but marriage?

Sheila: All right, I– I’m fine with keeping things under wraps a bit longer. But I’m serious! I really think our relationship could be what brings us all closer together. One big, happy family. I can see it.

Deacon: How many? ‘Cause I think you might need glasses.

Sheila: Just stop.

Hope: Seriously, uh, thank you for making me go see my dad because I cannot believe this. I mean, he’s in love with a legitimate psychopath. I just don’t understand what my dad could– could possibly see in her. I mean, he is endangering everybody by doing this. I mean… I can’t let him go through with this. I can’t let him do this.

You can feel it…

Sheila: What?

Deacon: I just never pegged you for a glass is half full kinda gal. You are, though, aren’t you?

Sheila: You know what? You’ve got to work towards something or– or what’s the point? I’ve never been accused of giving up without a fight.

Deacon: Truer words have never been spoken.

Sheila: I’m so happy. I– I’m free. I found love and I’ve got you and the children.

Deacon: The children… you really think that our relationship can be the glue that will hold our families together?

Sheila: I’ll tell you what. More and more, I am certain of it. I– I can see it.

Deacon: I don’t want you to be disappointed. You know, reluctant acceptance might be the best that we can expect.

Sheila: Deacon, deacon. How many times have I told you to not doubt me? I’m a fighter, remember?

Deacon: Damn straight I do. That’s one of the things I love the most about you. Come here.

Sheila: Now, that’s my daddy.

Finn: Sorry, I didn’t give you a heads up. I just thought that should be something you hear directly from your dad. It didn’t feel right for me to drop that bomb on you.

Hope: No, I get it. I don’t blame you for anything. I mean, obviously, my dad knew how I was going to react, ’cause he kept it quiet. So, I don’t know if I should be furious with him or terrified for him.

Finn: I think we’re just both still in shock. I mean, our parents claim to be in love. I mean, I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to wrap my head around that.

Hope: Well, this entire situation is just dangerous, and my dad somehow thinks that his love has– has changed sheila magically somehow. I mean, I–

Finn: Well, no one could change sheila. I got the scars to prove it.

Hope: I– I’m– I’m going to tell my mom. Yeah. I’m– I’m going to tell her about this because she– she’ll know what to do.

Brooke: Rj is going into this cutthroat fashion industry and I think he’s going to be facing a lot more challenging situations than working with his granddad. So, we can’t baby him or else he will be eaten alive.

Ridge: I know that. You’re right. Every designer has to find his own path, his own ideas and I think– I think rj is on his way. He’s designing now. It’s one of the proudest moments of my life.

Brooke: I know you wanna work side by side with him and I’m sure you will one day, but right now, what he needs is probably to work with his granddad instead of his father.

Ridge: Yeah. I see a lot of myself in him when I was his age. I just– I want him to know that he’s loved, that he’s supported and that we will do anything to help him succeed, right?

Brooke: Of course. Of course.

Rj: Whatever it is, luna, you can– you can tell me. All right? Please let me help.

Luna: Okay. Okay, you’re right. I have been keeping something from you.

Rj: What is it? Here, come on. Let’s sit down.

Luna: Um, these past few weeks have been, like, the best of my life.

Rj: Well, then why do you wanna leave?

Luna: My mom didn’t know that I was interviewing for a job here, so when I had decided to come to L.A. And follow my dreams, I– I knew that I had to do it on my own.

Rj: Why?

Luna: Because she’d be worried about me. She didn’t want me to put myself in A… bad situation.

Rj: Luna, how could working here put you in a bad situation? I don’t– I don’t get it.

Luna: There’s someone in my family who wouldn’t want me to be here, who wouldn’t approve. My aunt.

Rj: Your aunt? Does she work at forrester?

Luna: No, but–

Rj: No?

Luna: Um… your sister’s mother-in-law? That’s my aunt li and she’s the reason why I wrote the letter of resignation. I don’t know, she just– she doesn’t want me here. If your moderate to severe crohn’s disease

Deacon: Okay, then, so… we’re in agreement. We’ll keep the news about our engagement quiet for the time being.

Sheila: [ Sighs ] Oh, as much as I wanna scream it from the rooftops, I just, I think it will freak finn and– and hope out.

Deacon: Yeah, and the rest of L.A.

Sheila: Okay, so we will just keep our wonderful news for another day.

Finn: Hey, just be prepared ’cause, I mean, once you tell your mom about sheila and deacon, all hell’s gonna break loose.

Hope: No, I know. But thank you for telling me, finn, and giving me the heads up. I mean, you’re the only person in the world who knows what this feels like.

Finn: Look, sheila’s all love and sunshine now, but we know how she can turn if she feels threatened.

Hope: And that’s what I’m worried about. I want to keep my dad out of harm’s way, but my mom does have a way of getting through to him. Maybe she can talk some sense into deacon and put a stop to this– this insanity between our parents before it goes too far.

Luna: My aunt li was just here and she was so furious. She made me write that letter.

Rj: I can’t even believe this.

Luna: I know, I’m sorry. You shouldn’t be dragged into this.

Rj: No, I just– I- I just don’t understand. It doesn’t make any sense.

Luna: I should’ve been honest with you from day one, but, I don’t know, I guess I was just so happy about getting this job and… I should’ve told you about my connection to finn and your sister.

Rj: No, it’s just I don’t understand why li doesn’t want you to work here. I mean, I feel like she’d be really happy for you.

Luna: Well, li is extremely protective of finn. She sees forrester as a– as a place for him, for your family. Not for me and my mom.

Rj: Why?

[ Luna sighing ]

Luna: My aunt li and my mom, they have a very difficult relationship. I mean, she’s always been so hard on my mom and even though they’re sisters, they’re… I don’t know. They’re very different people. Do you remember that phone call that made me really upset?

Rj: Yeah.

Luna: That was my mom.

Rj: Well, what’d she say?

Luna: Uh, my mom told me that I should leave forrester immediately. That she was afraid of something like this happening, that aunt li would find out that I was working here and everything would come crashing down.

Rj: I’m just– I’m so sorry that you’ve been dealing with this alone.

Luna: I feel terrible for keeping this from you. Listen, I really don’t wanna cause any trouble. I think it’s best if I just leave. This isn’t charmin!

[ Sheila chuckling ]

Deacon: What?

Sheila: Aside from rubbing your thigh, I am enjoying this incredibly peaceful moment because it’s only a matter of time before brooke comes knocking on that door.

Brooke: Sounds like the invites were creating quite a buzz from what katie said. A special engagement featuring forrester couture’s latest collection, available for same-day purchase. Who wouldn’t be excited about that?

Ridge: Little do they know, they are just there to settle a score between father and son. Winner takes all.

Brooke: Well, I’m not gonna lie, I am excited.

Ridge: You’re excited?

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Ridge: Even though you know I’m going to win?

[ Brooke giggling ]

Brooke: Oh, honey.

Ridge: Hey.

Brooke: Hi. Are you okay?

Hope: No. I saw finn earlier.

Ridge: What’s going on? This have something to do with steffy and the kids?

Hope: No. I, um… sorry, I think I’m still processing. I’m in shock.

Ridge: Well, take a breath. What are you talking about? What’s going on?

Hope: Okay, so– so finn actually came to visit me here earlier and he said that there was something weighing on him and he needed to tell me something and– and then all I could get out of him was that I needed to go see dad.

Brooke: Deacon? Is– is everything all right?

Hope: Well, I went to go to his apartment to find out for myself and it turns out, um… [ Clears throat ] Dad is seeing someone. He’s in love.

Ridge: In love?

Brooke: Wha– what? I– I didn’t even know he was dating.

Hope: Yeah. Well, it was news to me, too.

Brooke: Well, have you seen her?

Hope: Yeah, she was actually at the apartment and, um… I can’t believe I’m about to say this and these words are about to come out of my mouth, but the woman that dad is involved with… is sheila carter.

Luna: I’m really sorry I didn’t tell you I was related to li. I hope you haven’t lost faith in me.

Rj: Why would I lose faith in you?

Luna: Because I kept something from you? From the day I was being interviewed. I– I wasn’t trying to be dishonest. I’m gonna go. My– my mom was right. I– I should not have come to L.A.

Rj: No. Luna, your mom was not right, okay? And I wouldn’t think any less of you because you didn’t tell me that li is your aunt.

Luna: You wouldn’t?

Rj: No! Of course not. What I feel– I just feel bad that you’ve been going through all of this on your own. I– I don’t understand. Why is li so disapproving of you working here? I feel like she should be proud of you. You– you got this job completely on your own. You didn’t even use your connections to get here. That’s– that’s just impressive.

Luna: No. You don’t understand. You didn’t hear aunt li earlier. She will not be happy if I stay here.

[ Rj scoffing ]

Rj: Aunt li does not get a say, okay? ‘Cause this is your life. This isn’t aunt li’s life. These are your opportunities. You’ve– you earned your place here! You are a beautiful, intelligent woman. You can make those choices for yourself. Listen, there is something that is so special about you, okay? I know we’re just getting to know each other, but I really don’t want this to end, all right? And I don’t care what li says. You’re not leaving forrester. You hear me?

Recap written by Suzanne

Hope can’t believe that Deacon and Sheila are together. She calls Sheila a monster and is disgusted. Deacon is disappointed at Hope’s extreme reaction. Deacon protests that Sheila has changed. Hope doesn’t think that Sheila is capable of change. After Hope leaves, Deacon is crestfallen, but Sheila is more hopeful. She thinks that their kids will eventually accept their love.

Still at Forrester, Finn has a flashback to learning about Deacon and Sheila being in love. He runs into RJ, so they catch up a little. RJ seems to think that Finn hasn’t cut Sheila out of his life, but Finn assures him that he’s made it clear to her that he doesn’t want to have anything to do with her. Finn guesses that RJ is seeing someone, so he admits that he is. Later, Hope goes to Finn’s home to confer about seeing Deacon and Sheila together.  They’re both still shocked.

Li, Finn’s mom, has happened upon Luna at Forrester and is angry to find her there, working at Forrester. She demands to know why she’s there. Li is suspicious that Luna might have some ulterior motive because of her history with Luna’s mom. Apparently, Li got Poppy a job at the gift shop in the hospital where she worked, and Poppy had an affair with one of the doctors, which ruined his reputation and almost hurt Li’s, too. She says that Luna’s mother has always been a disgrace to their entire family. She won’t allow Luna to be there, near Forrester and Finn. Luna begs Li to let her stay, but Li insists that she write her letter of resignation and then leave. RJ returns and is shocked to learn that Luna is saying goodbye. He won’t let her go.  They kiss.
