Belle went to EJ’s office to get Kristen out of prison. EJ agreed with her. He signed a document agreeing to Kristen recanting her confession and getting Rachel some help. He apologized to Belle for how he treated her and brought up how she reacted to him being missing. Belle said despite their problems, she didn’t want him to be dead. Brady went to the hospital to get her free and to help Rachel get better. Kristen was still shocked that Peter tried to kill her family. She said she was worried that Rachel’s life would be ruined and she would be judged once it came out. Brady said he and Belle would make sure it didn’t get out. Melinda showed up to see Kristen. Belle came in with the signed document from EJ. Kristen signed the document recanting her confession. Belle and Melinda left the room. Rachel went to see Sophia to tell her how her holiday was. Sophia said she was never going home because her parents fought all the time and her mother had unreasonable expectations. She told Rachel that she was leaving Salem for good after she took care of some things. After Rachel left, Melinda showed up to see Sophia. Melinda apologized for what happened with the baby.

Tony and Chad went to EJ’s office to talk about Peter. Chad said he didn’t want to pull the plug. EJ said he wanted him gone. He said DiMeras tended to rise above the ashes to finish what they started. Tony said they should find out what Kristen wanted. Kristen went to Peter’s room and apologized to him and said she couldn’t let the DiMeras die. She said she was one of the DiMeras no matter what. Kristen said Peter was a Blake and she would love him too. Chad and Tony showed up to see what she wanted to do. Kristen said she would leave Peter’s fate in God’s hands. She didn’t think Peter would want to live like this and wanted to pull the plug. If he breathed on his own, it was God’s plan. Tony hugged her. EJ told Belle that Sydney had a panic attack after finding out about the threat to the DiMeras. He said she hasn’t been doing well so he wanted to see her.

Roman went to see Marlena. She broke down and cried in his arms because she was thinking about John. Marlena told Roman that she was home by herself. They talked about how much she has been struggling. Roman said it was her first Christmas without John and she needed to be patient with herself. He decided to take her out. Marlena said she felt better looking at the decorations and thanked him for helping her feel better. He took her to the pub. Kate and Lucas were talking about turning Stephanie’s book into a movie. Marlena was upset when they talked about Stephanie’s stalker and Steve having to find the stalker on his own. Rafe went home and told Gabi that Stefan was dead. Gabi was shocked. She couldn’t believe it. Gabi didn’t think Peter and Vivian were reliable. Arianna tried to convince Gabi that it was true. Rafe said the FBI was working to confirm if it was true. He showed her a picture of Stefan’s tombstone that Vivian had. Rafe said Jake’s heart gave out on him. Gabi finally believed it was true and left the house. Rafe told Arianna that he didn’t see what Vivian would gain by lying. Gabi ran into Philip. She told him about Stefan. Gabi said she wished she didn’t care, but she did. Roman checked on Marlena by the bar. Marlena said it hurt to hear that Steve was investigating without John. When she broke down in the pub, he hugged her and said he would always be there for her. Kate looked at them and was annoyed.

Julie called Maggie to let her know that Christmas Eve was canceled for the first time ever. She said they would hang the ornaments when everyone was in the mood to celebrate. When she got off the phone, she cried. Eli and Lani showed up at Julie’s house. They told her the twins were looking forward to putting up the ornaments. Eli noticed the tree wasn’t decorated. Julie said the celebration was canceled because it didn’t seem right to celebrate. Julie apologized for the tree not being decorated, but she couldn’t wait to see the twins. Eli said they would get the house looking like Christmas. He found the ornaments and suggested that they hang up a few of them. They put the ornaments on the tree. Julie thanked them for what they did for her and for keeping her strong. Rafe and Jada went to the DiMera mansion. They thought the DiMeras were in the crypt.

Kristen knocked Peter out with the femur. Tony took the vial of gas from Peter. It was still sealed. Kristen was upset at the idea of killing her brother. Peter ended up falling on one of the bones. Chad took the key from Peter. Kristen apologized to Peter. Tony helped Kristen out of the crypt. EJ and Chad carried Theo out of the crypt. At the DiMera mansion, Jada and Rafe didn’t find the crypt key. Tony and Kristen called out. Rafe sat Kristen in a chair. Tony said Kristen was sick and Theo was injured. Rafe went to the crypt and brought out Chad, Theo, and EJ. Jada called for medical assistance. Rafe wanted to know what happened. The DiMeras said Peter was responsible. Kristen said Peter was still in the crypt and that she may have killed him. Rafe went back to the crypt. The DiMeras told Jada about Theo’s injuries and Peter’s plan. Tony told Jada that Kristen saved them. He said Peter broke Kristen out of prison and kidnapped all of them. The ambulance showed up. Theo was unconscious, but his vitals were strong. Chad credited Theo for why their families were able to spend Christmas with them. He said Theo’s family will be happy to see him. Jada asked Kristen about Peter kidnapping her. Kristen said Peter was a good brother most of their lives. EJ said they should finish the questions when Kristen’s attorney was there. When Kristen and EJ were alone, she blamed him for why Rachel was in Bayview and she was in prison. She said she wished he died in the crypt. Javi told Rafe that it was too soon to tell if Peter was going to make it. He told Rafe they had to treat Peter’s situation as a spinal injury. Peter ended up coding. Javi said Peter was alive, but badly injured. He said Theo was on his way to the hospital. Jada said she wanted statements from all of them. Rafe talked to Statesville and found out the BOLO on Kristen was lifted. He asked what happened to them. EJ said how he was kidnapped and that he hadn’t spoken to Peter in years. While he was talking, EJ thought Rafe accused him of working with Peter. Rafe said they would get him one day. Jada called Abe to tell him about Theo. Abe and Paulina went to the hospital. Rafe said forensics found a camera hidden in the crypt. They also found a pouch with syringes and a burner phone. There were also human remains in the crypt. Rafe asked if they knew who they were. Chad said Theo thought it was a Dimitri or Stefan. Rafe said they reached out to Vivian and Stefan to warn them about the kidnapping, but they haven’t heard from them. The DiMeras said Peter was inspired by Vivian. At the hospital, Kristen tried to reach out to Bayview, but she couldn’t talk to Rachel. Chad said they could see each Rachel tomorrow. Kristen said she refused to let the truth come out. She said she was willing to go back to prison to protect her daughter. Chad apologized for what she was going through. EJ went to the secret lab. He apologized to the person in the green capsule. EJ apologized for what happened.

Belle went to the Kiriakis mansion to see Brady. He told her that they were going to lose Titan, the house, and everything. Brady told her that Rachel had to spend Christmas at Bayview. He told her that Rachel was improving. Belle suggested that he talk to Marlena about what was going on. She tried to guilt him by saying their father would be disappointed if he didn’t forgive her. While she was talking, Belle told Brady that Kristen pushed Marlena to keep quiet about Rachel. Paulina went to see Marlena to let her know that she couldn’t make Rachel’s legal problems disappear. She told Marlena not to beat herself up about it. Brady showed up at Marlena’s place. He told her he forgave her and wanted her back in his life. Brady said Rachel would love to see her. They talked about what needed to be done. Marlena thought mental illness might run in the family. She suggested that it went from Rachel’s grandmother to Kristen to Rachel. Brady said he thought it was time to get his own place.

Kristen passed out from her fever. EJ and Tony woke up from the noise. Peter accused EJ of trying to kill them.When EJ tried to help Kristen, Peter told him not to touch her. Peter thought the family should hate EJ for what he’s done to all of them. When Chad tried to defend EJ, Peter cut him off to say that he was following the family for years. He knew that EJ slept with Abby. Chad said he never forgave EJ for that. Peter said he hated EJ as well as Stefano’s warped family. He said that was why he stayed away all this time. Peter continued to get the family to turn against EJ. Kristen interrupted to say that someone else could be responsible. She said it could be Peter. Kristen told them how Peter could be involved. Theo agreed with Kristen. The DiMeras turned against Peter. They wanted Peter to empty his pockets. Whoever had the weapon was responsible. Peter refused to empty his pockets. Theo went after Peter and ended up hitting his head against a wall. Peter confessed that he was responsible and took out a vial of gas. He told them to stay back or he would kill them.

Belle went to the hospital. She told Marlena that Brady moved in with Maggie. Marlena said she couldn’t forgive herself. She told Belle that she was done with seeing patients. Xander went to the Kiriakis mansion with gifts. Brady wanted to know why he was there. Xander said he was there with gifts. He was upset about Brady living there temporarily. They talked about the DiMeras being missing and denied being responsible for it. After Brady left, Xander came back with an extra gift. Sarah came home and was upset about him being there. Xander said he was upset that Brady was living there. Tate and Brady went to see Rachel. Brady said he was proud of the progress she was making. Rachel said she made a new friend in Sophia. She told them Sophia couldn’t talk, but they played board games. Tate and Brady didn’t think it was a good idea to be friends with Sophia. They gave Rachel Christmas decorations which made her realize she wouldn’t be home for Christmas. Rachel said she wanted to see her mother. They told her they would spend Christmas with her.

When Kristen woke up and saw EJ, she thought she was hallucinating. She thought he was behind what happened. He told her Rachel remembered what happened and was in Bayview. Kristen was upset. Chad found out what happened with Rachel. He told them that Leo told him Johnny was going to be found not guilty for shooting EJ. A furious Kristen flipped out on EJ. She said if he didn’t make her confess, she wouldn’t have gone to prison and Rachel wouldn’t be in Bayview. Brady and Tate went to the pub. Tate tried to tell Brady that he wouldn’t be around for Christmas. Brady said he and Rachel were struggling. Tate looked at his plane ticket and decided not to say anything. Xander called Sarah out for having feelings for Brady. Sarah said it was none of his business. Xander said he would never have feelings for anyone else. Belle brought Marlena home. Marlena was happy to find out Tate didn’t move out. They talked about Rachel. Belle realized Kristen acted without Marlena’s input. She wanted to tell Brady, but Marlena didn’t want her to say anything, Marlena said she went along with the plan.

Alex opened an envelope that had white powder in it. He and Stephanie left the apartment. While they were leaving, they ran into Jada and told her what happened. Jada told them it could be a biothreat and then called the police. Javi examined them and said it didn’t look like they were exposed to anything. The powder needed to be examined so they couldn’t be around people. Steve and Kayla showed up. Stephanie and Alex told them what happened. They talked about the letters Stephanie got. Steve told them that the only prints that were on the letter were Holly’s. He said the writer knew the prints would be incriminating because they have a criminal record. Steve thought the person was obsessed with Stephanie and wanted to Alex out. Gwen found EJ’s phone on the floor and looked for him. She talked to Susan about EJ being missing. Susan called in a missing person report. Rita called EJ. Gwen deleted their conversations. When Susan got off the phone, she tried to get a vibe but couldn’t find EJ. She felt like something was blocking her. Jada showed up and swept the mansion. She took EJ’s phone from Gwen. The whole phone was wiped. Susan thought the person who erased the phone kidnapped EJ. Jada didn’t think that made sense and thought that it looked like EJ staged the kidnapping.

EJ woke up in the crypt. Theo and Chad told him what was going on. EJ said he had the entrance to the crypt sealed off after what happened. He said no one would think to look there. EJ wanted to know why they haven’t charged the door yet. There wasn’t a way out. Chad told Theo to get some sleep. He asked EJ how his kids were. EJ said they were okay and got a continuance from the judge at the court hearing. Chad thanked him. While they were talking, Chad accused EJ of being thrown in to look innocent. He told EJ that he was never a victim. Chad wanted EJ to tell him he didn’t kidnap them. EJ didn’t deny being responsible, but he blamed other people. Javi told Stephanie and Alex that the substance was powered sugar. They were relieved, but the writer could still be dangerous. Steve said he was moving in to protect them. Jada took EJ’s phone for fingerprints and wanted to recover any wiped data. A panicked Gwen dropped a glass. While they were picking up the glass, Jada noticed a syringe and took it as evidence. When Jada left, Susan accused Gwen of trying to hide something. Susan threatened to make Gwen pay if she had something to do with what happened to EJ. Theo woke up and told EJ and Chad that Kristen had a fever from her wound.

Leo went to see Johnny. He told Johnny that he saw EJ talking to Gwen at the gala. Leo wanted Johnny to pull up the footage that Holly took.He let Johnny know that he was working on a story about EJ building a secret lab in the free clinic. Leo thought Gwen was involved and thought it might have to do with why Johnny’s family was missing. Johnny pulled up the footage. Leo tried to read their lips and saw that EJ wanted Gwen to handle something and Gwen talked about a delivery. Johnny said he would send Leo the footage when he was done. Jeremy and Maggie were at the town square. While they were talking, he told her he was on Chad’s side when it concerned the custody battle. Maggie said she was torn but hoped Chad was found soon. Jeremy told Maggie that he knew Titan was in danger so he was willing to help if she wanted him too. Maggie said one of the writers have been letter from a troubled fan who lived in Salem. Jeremy thought Maggie was talking about Stephanie. Maggie asked if he was the obsessed fan. Jeremy was upset that his family thought so little of him. He became upset. Maggie told him she didn’t think he was the stalker, but she had to ask. Jeremy said it felt like she didn’t have his back which made him sad because she was like a grandmother to him. He walked away from her.

Rafe and Cat talked about the things in the secret room being gone. They thought someone caught her snooping. Rafe thought her cover might have been blown and that drugging EJ was a risk she didn’t need to take. Cat said she was worried about Chad and have been putting a timeline together. She thought the texts sent from Chad to Julie weren’t from him. They thought the calls Tony made were from someone else too. When they went over the suspects, Cat realized that Rafe was focused on EJ and thought his bias was clouding his judgment. Rafe admitted to his bias. He said he knew the DiMeras chose money and power over their own family so he was putting his money on EJ. At the DiMera mansion, EJ told Gwen that someone ripped off Jada that Rolf was in the secret room. Gwen said it wasn’t her. They argued over it until EJ realized Leo was the one who did it. He said Leo was lurking around for weeks and Rita caught him in the lab months ago. Gwen said she didn’t tell Leo anything and that he didn’t know anything. EJ wanted reassurance or he would take care of Leo. Gwen wanted to know what he was going to do to Leo. EJ said it was better for her not to know. EJ called someone and told them he had an important job. When Gwen went to the front door, Leo was there. She told him that he shouldn’t be there. Leo said he had proof that she and EJ were working together. He said when he exposed their plan, she and EJ would go to jail unless she came clean with him. At the DiMera crypt, Theo had a human bone. Chad was afraid the bone was Abby’s. When Theo examined the bone, he said he didn’t think it was Abby’s since it was a large bone and Abby was small. Chad was relieved to know it wasn’t Abby. Theo said the bone was a man’s bone. He told Chad that Stefan and Dimitri were missing. Chad said it could be an enemy. While they were talking, the crypt door opened. Gwen warned Leo that he should be focused on protecting Javi from seeing his body pulled out of the Salem River. She suggested that he go away for a while and mind his business. Chad and Theo discovered another body in the crypt. It was EJ.

Paulina told Chanel that someone was after the DiMeras. Chanel panicked. Paulina told her she would keep them safe. Chanel didn’t think that EJ was involved but he might have it out for her. Brady told Tate that he was moving out of the townhouse. He told Tate he could pick where he wanted to live. Brady took his bags to the Kiriakis mansion. Sarah was surprised to see him. He told her what Marlena did. They talked about Rachel and Kristen. Brady said he was grateful to Kristen as a parent, but his feelings toward her haven’t changed. Rachel complained about the food at the hospital. Sophia said she would sneak out to get burgers, but she needed Rachel’s help. She wanted Rachel to pretend to be her and then let her back in. Rachel didn’t want to do it at first, but Sophia convinced her. The plan worked and Sophia came back with food. Stephanie was in her room at Chicago and heard a noise. She grabbed a knife and almost attacked Alex. He said he wanted to surprise her. She was happy to see him. A person wearing a leather jacket was outside of her room.

Cat knocked out EJ. She looked around the living room. It occurred to Cat that the living room was the worst place to hide secrets so she decided to check the tunnels. She saw a cot in the wine room. Cat took pictures of the room before she went upstairs. She woke EJ up. He told her someone was targeting his family. Abe and Paulina has trouble with Trey and decided to call Theo. Before Theo could answer, he got off the phone. Someone grabbed Theo outside of the pub. Abe thought Theo didn’t hear him and hung up the phone. At the pub, Jada and Gabi caught up with each other. Philip showed up at the pub. Jada wondered where Theo was. JJ called Jada to tell her that Chad was missing. She left to find Theo but she couldn’t find him. Jada found Theo’s phone on the ground. She called Abe to let him know about Theo. Abe left the apartment. He went to the police station. Jada told him they didn’t have any information. She said she was working with Rafe and the FBI. Abe asked her if he could help. Jada told him that someone Theo trusted grabbed him. Abe thought about asking for EJ’s help to get Theo out of DiMera Enterprises.

Chad told Kristen and Tony to get ready for their captor’s return. While they were talking, a gunshot could be heard. Theo was thrown in the room with them. He told them what happened to him. Chad said whoever did this to them had to be watching them. Theo realized what was going on. He said the kids should be safe because the person was after power and money. Stefano’s family was kidnapped. It was possible that EJ was behind the kidnapping. When Kristen and Tony suspected EJ, Chad defended him. Kristen wasn’t convinced that EJ wasn’t responsible. Theo thought EJ wouldn’t kill them, but wasn’t sure if he wouldn’t. Cat asked EJ if he thought he would be the next one missing. While they were talking, Abe texted EJ to tell him what happened to Theo. EJ told Cat what happened and wanted her to leave. Cat said she was worried about his safety before she kissed him.

Brady told Tate what Rachel did. He told Tate to keep it quiet from everyone. Kate went to see Maggie to talk about Titan. Stephanie’s new book wasn’t doing well and neither was Titan. Kate told Maggie that she wasn’t ruthless enough and needed to steal DiMera executives. Maggie said she didn’t think Tony would like that when he came back. She told Kate to stay in her lane. Brady showed up to tell Maggie about Rachel, Sarah, and the pistachio ice cream. He told Maggie that he didn’t want to live with Marlena and blamed her for what happened. Arianna met with Kate at the pub. She apologized to Kate for not being there for Thanksgiving. Arianna told Kate that Leo proposed to Javi. She let Kate know that she hated Leo. Kate said she didn’t have to like Leo. While they were talking, Arianna asked Kate about an internship with Titan. Kate didn’t think it was a good idea, but she was willing to put in a good word for her at DiMera. Holly went to the square and looked through Stephanie’s mail. She noticed that her mail was from a stalker.

Sophia told Rachel that she pretended to be comatose to get the upper hand. She told Rachel that she wasn’t ready to talk to people, but she wanted to comfort Rachel. Rachel understood what Sophia was doing and promised to keep her secret. She told Sophia that she almost killed two people on purpose, Sophia was shocked when she heard the confession. She wanted to know who adopted her baby. Before Rachel could answer her, Tate showed up. Sophia went mute again. Sophia left the room. Rachel didn’t have any use for Tate. When the nurse came in to say the visiting hours were over, Rachel was upset. Maggie wanted to make sure Brady was sober. He told her he was sober. Maggie told him he could move in until he found his own place. Sophia went back to Rachel’s room to find out who had her baby. When Sophia found out, she was furious.

When Brady went home, Tate wondered where he was. He told Tate that his phone died. Brady said Marlena was okay, but Rachel wasn’t. He let Tate know that Rachel was in the psyche ward and was going to Bayview. Tate was shocked that Rachel wasn’t doing well. Brady wouldn’t tell Tate everything that was going on with Rachel. He told Tate they would go see Marlena and Belle and would sneak and see Rachel. Brady said he and Belle decided to wait to tell Marlena about Rachel until she was out of the hospital. When Alex came home, Stephanie was finishing up a press release. He found a box of fan mail with Stephanie’s real name on it. After he opened the letter, he was shocked. Alex read the letter and said it was from a love sick stalker. Stephanie thought it was a crazy fan. She thought it was harmless. Belle surprised Marlena by bringing Thanksgiving to her at the hospital. She told Marlena that Brady and the others would be there soon. They talked about it being the first Thanksgiving without John. Marlena said the greatest gift John gave her was Belle. She told Belle that John lived in everyone who loved him.

Brady and Tate went to see Rachel. He told Tate to go see Marlena, but Tate thought he should go see her so he could tell her what happened. Tate thought Marlena would be upset if she found out later on. Brady decided Tate was right and thought she was well enough to know the truth. He went to Marlena’s room. Marlena asked about Rachel and Tate. Brady said Rachel wasn’t feeling well. When Brady and Belle had different answers about what was wrong with Rachel, Marlena thought the secret they were keeping was stressful. Brady told Marlena about the pistachio incident. He said it triggered Rachel’s memory and she remembered shooting EJ. Brady told Marlena that Rachel was going to Bayview. Marlena said she wished she knew Rachel was still a danger to others. Belle wanted to know what she meant by that. Marlena admitted that she knew about Rachel shooting EJ. She said she was with EJ when he remembered Rachel shooting him. Marlena said EJ forced Kristen to free Johnny. She said Kristen confessed to protect Rachel. Brady was shocked Marlena didn’t tell him sooner. Marlena said Rachel suppressed the memory. She said she thought she would be there for Rachel when she remembered what happened, Brady thought Marlena should have told him about Rachel since he was her father. Marlena said him being her father was the reason why she didn’t tell him.

Jennifer went over the Thanksgiving seating cards. When Julie came home, she wanted Thomas to put Doug’s away. Thomas wanted to throw Chad’s out. Jennifer told him not to talk about his father like that. When Julie came back, Jennifer asked Julie how she was holding up since it was one year since Doug died. Julie said she was holding up and was grateful to have her family with her. Charlotte and Thomas came in. She said she missed her father. Thomas started picking on Charlotte. Julie told Thomas to be nice to Chad for Thanksgiving. Jennifer wanted him to invite Chad over. Thomas ended up agreeing to invite him over. Gabi and Philip were on a date at the pub. She invited him over for Thanksgiving. Xander called Philip to tell him about Sarah. He wanted Philip to find out what room she was in. Philip asked Maggie about Sarah.

Brady went to check on Sarah. He apologized for Rachel nearly killing her. Sarah didn’t know what he was talking about. Brady told Sarah that Rachel shot EJ. Sarah wanted to know why. Brady asked her to keep it a secret. Sarah said it was upsetting, she wasn’t mad. She said he was a loving father to Rachel. Xander showed up and saw them together. When Sarah noticed Xander, she told him what happened and wanted him to leave. After Xander left, Sarah said what Xander did to her was nothing compared to what Brady was going through with Rachel. She said she wanted Rachel to get better. They talked about the baby switch and the kidnapping. Sarah said she realized what went wrong with her and Xander. Jennifer let Julie know that she wasn’t upset that she wanted the kids to invite Chad. She told Julie that she didn’t want to shut Chad out of his kids’ lives, but she wanted them to live with her in Boston. Julie told her it would be a mistake to take the kids. Jennifer said it was the right thing to do.
