EJ apologized to Chanel when Johnny showed up at the mansion. Johnny punched EJ in the face. He let EJ know that he knew what he did. EJ tried to defend himself, but Johnny let him know that he wasn’t talking about Arnold. He informed him that Kate told him about how he was conceived. EJ slowly sat down. Chanel was surprised to hear Johnny tell EJ that he knew that he forced Sami to have sex with him to save Lucas’ life. EJ told him that he and Sami moved past it. Johnny talked about how traumatized Sami had to be after it happened, and EJ enjoyed having power over her. EJ felt like it wasn’t Kate’s place to tell him that. It’s a story that Johnny didn’t need to know about. Johnny said that he only existed because his father raped his mother. Chanel was visibly shocked by the news. Sami was called a slut because her kids had different fathers, but it was EJ’s fault it happened. Chanel wondered if everyone in the family knew about it. Johnny let her know that everyone didn’t know, but the ones who did agreed not to say anything. He was the victim of a lie. EJ tried to explain that he and Sami had feelings for each other, but she denied her feelings. Johnny thought he was blaming her for what happened. EJ told him that Stefano pushed him to do what he did to Sami because he needed the stem cells to save his life. Johnny got upset because he wasn’t taking responsibility for what he did. EJ just wanted him to understand the situation. Johnny realized he wasn’t wanted. His stem cells were the only things that were needed. He wanted to get away, but he can’t run from what he is now. Johnny told EJ that he was finished controlling him. He would never allow EJ to be around his grandchild. His family would never be part of the DiMera dynasty. EJ tried to tell him that he’s changed. He would always regret what happened, but he wouldn’t have Johnny if it didn’t. EJ asked Johnny to forgive him. Johnny was done with him. He wanted EJ to leave so he walked out of the room. Chanel tried to comfort Johnny, but he felt lost. If he had a gun, he would have killed him. EJ was in the hall and started crying. Jada and Rafe ran into Paulina at the town square. They were happy until Paulina told them about Belle. Jada wasn’t surprised by her news. She apologized for ruining Johnny and Chanel’s chance at adoption. Paulina told her what happened at the family meeting. She reinstated Jada as the commissioner. Arnold made the accusations so felt they weren’t valid. Jada and Rafe were ready to celebrate the news. They talked about what they could do to get back at EJ. Jada thought they could go to Ava since she said EJ was involved in her kidnapping. They wondered if it was possible that Rachel Blake got him to help her with the kidnapping because she threatened to tell that he was captive at Aremid. Jada suggested they go to Aremid.

Melinda was having a drink at the Bistro when Ava appeared. She noticed Ava’s hand and wondered what happened. Ava told her about everything that happened to her. Rachel Blake was free and could still hurt her. She didn’t have any protection from her. Melinda went into her purse and gave her a gun. Melinda got the gun after Connie kidnapped her. She thought Ava needed it more than she did. Rachel Blake went back to her house and searched for her gun. Kristen arrived at the house because she was worried about her. Rachel tried to hide the gun, but Kristen wanted to see it. Kristen wondered why her mother had a gun. Rachel thought Ava would try to kill her so she needed it for self-defense. Kristen wanted her to stop going after Brady and took the gun from her mother. Jada and Rafe arrived at the house and wanted answers. Jada wanted to know if they knew about EJ holding Rafe there. Brady talked to Belle about what happened with Rachel being at the townhouse. He was able to convince Kristen to let Rachel stay there. Brady told her about Rachel Blake’s latest antics. Belle assured him that putting his daughter first was the right thing to do. He thought he ruined things with Ava. Brady thought it would be good that EJ would go to jail for what he did to Rafe. Belle said she wouldn’t be prosecuting the case. Brady wondered why she wasn’t prosecuting EJ, and she admitted that she slept with EJ again. She admitted that she can’t stop sleeping with him. Brady said that she was addicted. Ava told Melinda that she didn’t need a gun, but she put it in her purse. Jada wanted answers from Rachel Blake, but she wanted her and Rafe out of her house. She and Kristen didn’t have anything to say to them. Jada told her that someone was going down for what happened to Rafe, She wanted to go after EJ, but if Rachel wasn’t careful, she would be back with a search warrant.

Stephanie was at the pub when Joy showed up. They had an awkward conversation until Stephanie blurted out that she overheard Sarah talking about her pregnancy test. She let Joy know that she didn’t tell Alex about the pregnancy. Stephanie wanted to know if Alex was the father of her baby. Joy said that he was the only possibility. She thought it was possible that the test was negative. Joy deiced to call Sarah to check on her test results. Stephanie wondered if she would tell Alex the truth if the test came back positive. Once she gets the results, she will have a conversation with Alex about it. Maggie went to see Sarah at the hospital. They talked about Alex working at Titan again. Sarah blamed Theresa for Alex’s birthright getting mixed up. Maggie thought Theresa was crazy to think that a secret like that would stay hidden for long. Secrets always have a way of coming out. Maggie left just as Joy called Sarah about her test results. Sarah told her they were ready. Later, Joy showed up at the hospital to get her test results. Sarah had an emergency so she couldn’t go over the results with her right away. She gave Joy the test results and left. Joy looked at the test results. Alex, Xander, and Philip celebrated working at Titan together. While they were drinking, Alex noticed something off with Philip and Xander. They let him know their plans to take over DiMera Enterprises. Alex wasn’t sure if that was a good idea, but he was down for it. Philip wanted to talk to Alex about Stephanie. He said they were good. Alex thought it was great that Xander and Philip were able to work together. Philip seemed like he was in a rush to get rid of Alex. After Alex left, Xander wondered why Philip wanted him to leave. Philip was concerned about what Alex and Stephanie say about him behind his back. He thought she would badmouth him so Xander suggested he stop looking for trouble and move on with his life. Maggie showed up and told the brothers that she was proud of them for being able to work together.

Stephanie and Alex met on their way home. She wanted to talk to him about Joy possibly being pregnant with his baby. He was shocked by her news. Alex wasn’t sure what to do about it, but he assured her that he was committed to her. Leo was working on his story about the DiMeras when Javi walked in the room. He had to deal with a lot of legal issues so the article was difficult. Javi suggested writing about EJ getting away with kidnapping. He told him that without Arnold or Rafe’s side of the story, EJ will get away with everything. Javi thought the story would pressure Belle to prosecute EJ. He called Rafe to get quotes for Leo. Leo thanked him, but he was worried about the DiMeras coming after him. There was a knock on the door. Javi answered the door and saw a huge bill. He was shocked to find out that Leo hadn’t paid his bills since he lost his job at Body & Soul. He didn’t have the money to pay them. Javi suggested he move in with him. Leo wasn’t sure if it was a good idea to live with Rafe and Gabi. Javi thought it would be fine for him to move in with them. Sarah arrived home and saw Philip. She wondered how things went with Alex. He said things were okay, but he was worried about Stephanie telling him the truth. Sarah told him that Stephanie was happy with Alex and wouldn’t want anything to get in the way of that. Joy saw Alex and Stephanie. She announced that she wasn’t pregnant after all. They were all relieved by the news. Joy walked away and looked at the results while she was alone. The test results proved that she’s pregnant after all.

Brady and Tate were surprised to see Theresa walk in the door. He wondered if she was a fugitive. Theresa told him that she was legally released from prison. She hugged Tate. Brady filled her in about John’s disappearance. She asked Tate how everything was going, and he announced that he’s having a baby. Theresa was shocked to find out that she’s going to be a grandmother. Rafe was ready to leave the hospital. He told Jada that Kayla said that he was only suffering from memory loss. Jada prayed that he got the rest of his memory back soon. He wanted to know how long he was gone. She let him know that he was gone for three months. Jada told him they had proof Arnold was at the DiMera mansion and how EJ switched him before. Rafe couldn’t believe that EJ stole his life from him again. He didn’t think EJ had a reason to do that to him. Jada informed him that Arnold helped EJ investigate her. She told him about what happened on the day of their wedding. Jada was convinced that EJ was behind the kidnapping. She explained why EJ wanted to go after her. Rafe hugged her. Kristen looked for her mother at the DiMera mansion. EJ was shocked to learn that Rachel was released from jail. He wondered if Rachel went back to Aremid. They thought she might have gone after Ava. EJ thought they would be safe if Rachel did kill Ava. Kristen didn’t think that was funny at all. She thought they should be more concerned about Rafe. EJ had Rafe under control. She left to look for her mother.

Ava went home and saw Rachel Blake. Rachel wanted to pay her a visit. Rachel couldn’t believe Ava had her in jail. Ava told her that she wouldn’t press charges if she left. Rachel Blake warned Ava that she didn’t like people interfering with her family. Ava reminded her that she was the reason she wasn’t in jail and that Kristen wasn’t arrested. She didn’t want Rachel to be taken by children’s services. Rachel Blake was grateful that her granddaughter was okay. She went to the door and grabbed a knife and turned towards Ava. Ava looked at her phone while Rachel grabbed a knife. She wanted to make sure that Kristen and her granddaughter had the lives they deserved. Ava informed her that she was a Mafia princess. Rachel threatened to kill her. Ava’s phone rang and the women started fighting. Rachel managed to cut Ava while they were fighting over the knife. Tate filled Theresa in about what happened with Sophia. Brady decided to leave so Tate and Theresa could talk. Theresa couldn’t believe her baby was having a baby. Tate filled her in about Sophia’s mother and how she didn’t want them to give the baby up for adoption. He was shocked when Theresa agreed with Amy. Kristen showed up just as her mother was about to stab Ava. She demanded that her mother hand her the knife. Kristen tried to reason with Rachel until she finally gave her the knife. Rafe arrived at the DiMera mansion and gave EJ a piece of his mind. Jada tried to stop him, but Rafe got his arms around EJ’s neck.

Marlena looked at John’s picture and had flashbacks of their time together. She wondered where he could be and what she would tell their children. Brady arrived at Marlena’s office looking for advice about Ava. He noticed that she seemed off so he wondered what happened. Marlena told him that she had bad news for him. John was missing. Marlena told him about her conversation with Shane. She said that Shane was trying to find John. They don’t know if John is alive or not. Brady gave her a hug. She apologized for worrying him. He was grateful to have her. Marlena told him that the ISA were going to retrace John’s steps, and they have their best people looking for him. Brady wondered if Paul knew what happened to John. Marlena let him know that he didn’t know. She had to tell Paul and Belle because she didn’t know either. He would tell Paul if she told Belle. Marlena appreciated him doing that. He wanted them to stay positive about finding John. Kayla talked to Stephanie about the flash drive she gave her, but she seemed distracted. Stephanie told her that she overheard Sarah tell someone on the phone that Joy was pregnant. They talked about it. Stephanie thought the drama between her and Alex was over. Kayla told her they didn’t know for a fact that Joy was pregnant with Alex’s baby. Stephanie asked if she could check the lab, but Kayla couldn’t do that. She didn’t know what to tell Alex so Kayla thought she shouldn’t tell him anything. Kayla warned her that the hospital could be liable for HIPAA violations if she told Alex about the baby. IT’s better for Stephanie to keep what she knew to herself. Kayla said that Joy might tell Alex about the pregnancy. Ava and Belle met at the pub to prepare her statement about the kidnapper. Belle planned to prosecute EJ, Kristen and Rachel Blake. Ava wanted to help her put EJ and Kristen away but she couldn’t do it. Belle was confused by that announcement. Ava let her know that she’s not pressing charges because of Brady. Belle didn’t understand so Ava told her that Rachel would get in trouble if she pressed charges. She didn’t plan on prosecuting a child, but Ava told her that CPS would take her from Brady and Kristen if something else happened. Belle understood, but she had to prosecute the case. She thought it might be good for CPS to get involved and let Rachel stay with Brady for a while. Ava was afraid the plan would backfire, and Brady could lose Rachel too. Belle informed her that the case falls apart without her help. She would let criminals go free. Ava knew that, but she didn’t think Brady should pay for what Kristen and her mother did. She wanted to tear Kristen apart the next time she saw her. Kristen showed up out of the blue. Belle thought it was her chance to get her.

Kristen was glad that Ava talked to Brady about everything. She wanted to protect her daughter from selfish people. Kristen looked in Belle’s direction. Belle told her that people believed in justice. Kristen wondered if she had the paperwork ready to release her mother. Belle told her the court was closed so her mother had to spend another night in jail. She left Kristen and Ava alone when she left. Kristen wondered if she had something to say. Ava stood up and slapped her. Belle went to the hospital to visit with her mother. Marlena told her there was some news about her father. Brady was at the DiMera mansion. He called Paul to tell him about their father. Kristen walked in the room with an ice pack. He wondered what happened to her so she told him about what happened with Ava. Brady told her that she was lucky he didn’t press charges against her. After Kristen walked off, Brady called Ava. He wanted to thank her for not pressing charges against Kristen. He was sorry about everything. Ava was sorry too and hung up the phone. Joy talked to Philip about working at Titan. He asked her questions about her qualifications. Philip told her that he had to talk to Xander first. She was hoping he would talk to him soon because she needed the job. As far as he’s concerned, she was hired at Titan. Meanwhile, Alex talked to Xander about getting his job back at Titan. Xander was willing to hire him at the company because they needed more family at the company. Later Philip and Xander met and talked about hiring Joy and Alex. Xander hoped Philip would be okay with Alex being at the company. Philip wondered if Joy and Alex could work together because of Stephanie. Xander thought it was okay for Joy to quit, but Alex was family. He could help them take down the DiMeras. They needed Alex. Joy ran into Alex at the town square. They talked about seeing each other in town since they were staying in Salem. Joy was about to tell him something else, but she chickened out. As they talked, they realized they would be working at Titan together. Stephanie appeared while they talked about working together again.

Johnny, Chanel, Tate, and Sophia talked about the baby. Chanel was happy when she found out that Sophia said that she led Sunday School class. Johnny got uncomfortable with the lie. Tate understood if they changed their minds about adopting the baby, but Johnny and Chanel wanted to go through with it. Gabi had the DNA results and ran into Jada. They looked at the test results and realized the person at the house wasn’t Rafe. Jada realized that the man she was about to marry wasn’t Rafe. Gabi thought the switch happened when EJ hired Rafe. Jada thought she was right but said it didn’t prove that Arnold was the one who impersonated Rafe. She wanted to prove he was Arnold before they moved forward with anything. Gabi thought EJ was the other person who could answer their questions. Jada remembered seeing EJ in the tunnels and hearing voices. Paulina went to the DiMera mansion to talk to EJ. She thought about rehiring him as the D.A. Paulina said that Ava named him as an accessory to her kidnapping. EJ couldn’t believe the accusation. She also told him about his involvement in switching Rafe with Arnold. He tried another tactic with her. EJ threatened to expose how corrupt the police department and D.A.’s office are. The accusations would hurt her chance of getting re-elected. Johnny and Chanel arrived home and heard Paulina insulting EJ. Paulina told them that they were arguing about his old job. Johnny and Chanel told them about meeting with Sophia’s mother and that they had to be a supportive, Christian family. Chanel wanted them to get along for Amy’s sake. Paulina and EJ promised they would get along. Amy and Sophia arrived at the mansion.

Everyone at the DiMera mansion got acquainted with each other. Amy knew Nicole, and they were active with their daughter’s activities. She wondered if Nicole was going to be at the meeting. EJ informed her that they were divorced. Paulina said that Nicole was enjoying her life in Paris to get a dig in at EJ. EJ returned the favor by saying that Nicole moved on with a defrocked priest. Johnny walked in the room after he made the statement. He hoped that Sophia and Tate’s baby will be the one that helped his family with Chanel grow. Amy didn’t want to rush with her decision and wanted to get to know everyone better. Chanel walked in the room wearing a black dress and a cross. Tate had cookies from Sweet Bits. Amy didn’t like the name of the bakery. Chanel told her that the name never occurred to her. Amy asked Chanel questions about her necklace. She asked EJ about his family history. EJ told her about his history, and Amy seemed okay with it. Jada and Gabi stormed into the mansion. Gabi demanded to know where her brother was. Jada demanded answers from EJ. Johnny wanted to know what happened. Gabi announced that EJ kidnapped her brother and replaced him with Arnold. Johnny was confused because he thought Arnold was dead. Jada let everyone know that a DNA test was done and Rafe was swapped out months ago. Johnny wanted EJ to tell him that what happened wasn’t true especially after what Arnold did to his mother. EJ swore he didn’t do it. Jada wanted Johnny to show her the tunnels. EJ reminded her that she couldn’t search the tunnels without a warrant. Jada told him that she didn’t need a warrant since she’s not a cop. Johnny showed Jada the tunnels. Everyone looked at each other uncomfortably while everything happened. Tate thought they should meet another day, but EJ insisted they stay at the mansion. He thought Jada wouldn’t find anything in the tunnels. Chanel heard Johnny warn EJ that he better not be involved with the man who raped his mother. Jada came back from the tunnels and said she didn’t find anything. Jada and Gabi weren’t through with him. They stormed out of the mansion. Amy was ready to go. Paulina told her that EJ’s actions weren’t a reflection on Johnny and Chanel. Amy didn’t have time to listen to what she had to say. Sophia and Tate followed Amy out of the mansion. Chanel started crying when she realized that it would be tough to adopt Sophia’s baby. Tate and Sophia begged Amy to let them adopt the baby. He said that Jada and Gabi didn’t find anything. Sophia reminded her mother that Jada was a corrupt cop. Amy was done and didn’t want to step foot in the mansion again. Johnny yelled at his father for destroying his chance of adopting. EJ let her know that Jada and Gabi’s accusations were baseless. He swore he wasn’t holding Rafe hostage. Johnny remembered running into Rafe, and he seemed clueless. He wondered if Arnold was there the entire time. EJ thought Arnold must have replaced himself with Rafe which was why he wanted to investigate Jada. Johnny hoped EJ was telling the truth about that. If he lied, he would never see Johnny, Chanel or their family again.

Kristen walked in the room to tell EJ about her concerns about Ava being out and her mother getting arrested. EJ wasn’t worried about Ava as much as he was about Rafe. Kristen couldn’t believe he was upstairs. They didn’t like how Ava was freed before they could get to her. Kristen wanted to see her mother at the station, but EJ stopped her. Ava told what happened so the police knew who helped with the kidnapping. Kristen said she had a card up her sleeve. Rita sat with Rafe. She checked his vitals and assumed he would be fine. When the serum got in his system he could go back to his life. He might be able to get Jada back. EJ arrived in the room and talked about the plan to wipe out Rafe’s memories of what happened to him. Rita wondered how Rafe could go back to his life, and EJ said they had to get rid of Arnold. EJ let her know that the plan wasn’t his idea. Arnold showed up and knocked Rafe out. Getting his job back as the DA would be hard for him. He might be able to do it without swapping them out. Rita left to take care of Arnold. Brady arrived at the police station to talk to Belle about Ava’s kidnapping and Rachel Blake’s arrest. He wanted to talk to Kristen, but Belle said that Kristen wasn’t arrested. They wanted to do everything by the book. Brady told Belle that EJ was involved in the kidnapping and needed to be arrested too. Belle had a hard time believing what Brady told her. He let her know that EJ arrived and was going to release Ava until Rachel talked to him. Brady thought Rachel had something on EJ. He got Belle to admit that EJ hasn’t changed. Brady warned her to leave him before it was too late. He’s linked to Kristen forever, but she could get away from EJ. Kristen showed up while Brady was talking to Belle. After Belle left to confront EJ, Kristen told Brady her side of the story. She thought their daughter was the reason why she found her mother. Kristen told him that her mother wasn’t mentally stable and dealt with enough. Brady said she could talk to her mother in the interrogation room. No one was in the interrogation room. Brady told her that he would wait for Kristen to get arrested. Kristen told him that wouldn’t work because their daughter was the one who lured Ava to Aremid. If Brady pushed for her arrest, they would lose their daughter forever.

Stephanie and Jada realized that if Arnold was alive, then he didn’t cheat with the stripper. Jada admitted that she slept with Shawn. Shawn came out of the shower and shocked Stephanie. Stephanie wondered if Jada just cheated on Rafe. Shawn explained what happened between them. Stephanie and Jada told him about Arnold. Shawn remembered him, but he died. Stephanie reminded him about what the DiMeras were capable of doing. Jada thought it was possible. If she knew about Arnold, she would have figured everything out sooner. Everything started before New Year’s. She thought EJ was trying to get revenge on her. Jada felt violated by what EJ did to her. Shawn suggested they find out if he was Arnold. Jada wondered what happened to Rafe. Shawn was going to take care of that. Jada felt like she failed Rafe. Gabi wanted Savannah out of the house, but Arnold told her that she was gone. Arnold tried to leave, but Gabi stopped him. She knew he wasn’t Rafe. Gabi demanded to know what he did with her brother. He said he was Rafe, but she knew he was Arnold. Arnold tried to gaslight her, but it didn’t work. She told him about her conversations with Alex and Stephanie. Gabi tried to slap him, but he grabbed her hand. She wanted him to prove he was Rafe by answering some questions. He got the questions wrong. Arnold tried to use the fact that he was in a coma to justify getting the questions wrong. Gabi told him that he had something in his hair and plucked it. She wanted to get a DNA test done. Belle stormed into EJ’s room, but Rafe was gone. She demanded to know what he did, but he acted like he didn’t know what she was talking about. Belle didn’t believe him. She wanted to know what Rachel Blake had over him. He didn’t answer her question. Belle told him that the truth would come out between Ava and Rachel Blake. She couldn’t believe she was a fool to get involved with him again. Gabi arrived at Stephanie’s place. She told Stephanie, Jada and Shawn about her conversation with Rafe. Shawn and Jada left to get answers. Rita arrived at the Hernandez house looking for Arnold. She told him that EJ was going to make him leave the country. Rita gave him what he needed and used her taser on him. Kristen reminded Brady that CPS warned them that they would lose Rachel forever if there was one more incident. She asked him if he wanted that. Gabi and Stephanie wondered why EJ would work with Arnold to get his job back. She was worried about her brother so she went to the hospital to get the DNA test done. Rafe woke up at his house wearing Arnold’s clothes. Jada and Shawn arrived and demanded to know where Rafe was.

Leo went to see Chad to ask him for his job back. Chad was hesitant after what happened with Kerry. Leo assured him that he wanted to write about real journalism. Chad still didn’t think it was a good idea until Leo reminded him about the story he wrote about the Hortons. His pitched worked because Chad decided to give him a shot. Leo began giving him ideas about what to write, but Chad wanted him to learn the ethics of the paper first. He assured Chad that he wouldn’t regret rehiring him. Marlena was shuffling through papers when Cat arrived for her first day. She told Cat about the hospital filing for bankruptcy. Kayla was working on something to save the hospital. Cat thought they could start a fundraiser so they could make some money. The ladies went out for lunch to discuss ideas to raise money for the hospital. Chad arrived and saw them together. Marlena invited him to eat with them so Cat could share her ideas of how to save the hospital. Javi apologized to Gabi for being late. He told her about his conversation with Jada and that he told her that Rafe cheated on her. Gabi couldn’t believe it, but Javi confirmed it. She wondered when Rafe changed to such a bad person. Gabi remembered that he cheated on Ava and Hope for Nicole and Sami respectively. Javi thought it was a blind spot, but Gabi didn’t think so. She believed something was off. Rafe felt bad about cheating before but now he’s cold about it. Gabi thought it might be from the coma he experienced. She decided to take him to the doctor whether he wanted to go or not.

Shawn found Jada crying on a bench. Jada quickly embraced Shawn and told him that Rafe cheated on her. He asked if there was an explanation for his actions. Shawn wondered if Rafe got drunk and made a mistake. Jada let him know that Rafe didn’t regret what happened. She informed him about her conversation with Javi. Shawn offered to take her home. He didn’t want to leave her while she was upset. Jada wanted to get a bat and go after Rafe. Shawn offered her a shoulder to cry on. She blamed herself for what happened because she missed the red flags. They started talking about what happened between them the night before. Jada admitted that she wanted to kiss Shawn, but she stopped because of Rafe. The feelings she had for Rafe were gone, and she wanted to kiss Shawn. They started making out, but Shawn stopped things to make sure he wasn’t taking advantage of her. Shawn and Jada assured each other that they were done with Belle and Rafe respectively. They made out again. Arnold wanted Savannah to come over so they could hook up. He heard a knock at the door and thought it was her. Stephanie was the person at the door. She wanted to talk to him about Jada. Stephanie demanded answers from him about why he was hurting Jada the way he did. He let her know that his actions weren’t her business. She cared about Jada and wanted to help. Arnold smiled and kissed her. She pulled away and kicked him. Leo surprised Javi at the office. He told Javi that he got his job back at the paper. Javi told him that he let Jada know that “Rafe” cheated on her. He wasn’t sure if he did the right thing by telling the truth. Leo assured him that “Rafe” was wrong to demand that he keep it quiet. Gabi stormed into the house and yelled at Rafe for cheating on Jada. She let him know that Javi told him what he did to Jada. Gabi was upset and wondered what happened to him. He called her a b*tch, and she was ready to kill him. Marlena got a text and let Chad and Cat alone. They talked about what to do to save the hospital. She apologized to him because she was the last person he wanted to work with. He smiled at her. Stephanie found Alex and told him that “Rafe” forced his tongue down her throat. Kate questioned why he would do that, and he let her know it was Xander’s idea to do it. She didn’t think it was a good idea for him to move back there. He questioned why she was reluctant to the idea. Kate told him that things could go wrong if the truth came out. Philip thought the truth was safe because Sarah had too much to lose by telling Xander the truth about the letter. Sarah talked to Xander about the troubles at the hospital. He offered to buy the hospital. They talked about Philip. Xander told her that he was getting along with Philip. He thought they could get more work done if Philip moved into the mansion. Xander thought things were working because of Sarah. Sarah’s face turned white, and she was about to tell him something. She told him that she didn’t want him to get his heart broken. Xander assured him that his eyes are open. Gabi and JJ made love at the Hernandez house. He noticed something wrong and asked her about it. She was thinking about Rafe and how he changed. Gabi couldn’t believe that Rafe humiliated Jada the way he did. JJ didn’t believe the evidence against Jada. Gabi believed Jada when she said EJ set her up. JJ wanted to prove Jada’s innocence.

He thought she was going to leave, but she surprised him by staying. Shawn found Jada at the Brady pub drinking. He wondered if she wanted to keep drinking. She wanted to forget about the last time she talked to “Rafe.” Shawn couldn’t believe what was going on with Rafe. Jada was about to drink again when Shawn suggested they do something else. They decided to play darts. While they were playing darts, the subject of Belle and EJ came up. Shawn thought she was right about them getting together. Jada told him that Belle said she was at the mansion to see Johnny, but she didn’t think she was telling the truth. JJ told Gabi that he would reach out to Shawn about investigating EJ. Gabi couldn’t wait to expose EJ after what he did to her. JJ wanted to get started, but she thought it could wait. They made love again. Shawn took Jada to Stephanie’s place, but she wasn’t home. They were about to kiss, but she pulled away from him. She hated Rafe, but she still loved him too. Shawn agreed that they shouldn’t do anything stupid when they still have feelings for Rafe and Belle. Belle was glad that everything was in the open with EJ. Leo and Javi celebrated Valentine’s Day at the Salem Inn. Javi opened up to Leo about coming out to his parents. His mother was okay with it, but his mother was a different story. Steve and Kayla also celebrated the day. Kayla couldn’t believe that Steve let her think he forgot about the day. He had another surprise in store for her. He had wine and cheese ready for her. Steve informed her that Stephanie helped him plan the surprise. It led to a conversation about Stephanie and Alex. Steve didn’t like the idea of Alex being a player. Kayla thought he changed. Steve remembered what happened during their relationship. While they were strolling down memory lane, Tripp texted Steve. He was worried about his mother because no one had heard from her since she left for Hong Kong. Kayla thought Ava wanted to get away from Brady and Kristen’s drama. Steve wasn’t sure and thought something was wrong. He wanted to figure it out for Tripp. Tate told Johnny and Chanel that Sophia’s mother was okay with them putting the baby up for adoption. They just had to find the right couple. Johnny and Chanel offered to adopt the baby. Chanel explained that they wanted a baby, but it’s too risky for her to get pregnant right now. Johnny thought it was fate. He told Tate that he could tell Amy that the baby would be with family since they were cousins. Tate told them how they couldn’t find a couple Amy would approve of. He warned them that they had to have good Christian values before she would agree to let them adopt the baby. Tate was willing to talk it over with Sophia. Tate wanted to meet with Holly at the Horton cabin. He didn’t like how she was waiting for him alone at the cabin. Later Johnny and Chanel went home to talk about the adoption. She wondered if they were doing the right thing by adopting Tate and Sophia’s baby. Chanel thought they were setting themselves up for disappointment. She wasn’t sure if Amy would approve of them being the baby’s parents. What if they didn’t have enough Christian values? Johnny reminded her that she went to church with her mother. Chanel still went to church from time to time. He assured her that she had good values.

Holly prepared herself for her date with Tate by wearing a negligee. She admired herself in the mirror when she got a surprise. Doug showed up at the cabin. He turned away so she could put on a robe. Doug let her know that Julie sent him on an errand. He didn’t expect her to be there. Holly told Doug that Tate was going to make dinner for her and was supposed to be there a while ago. He realized they were going to have a special night together. Doug told her about why he was there. He explained he was getting a book his grandfather gave Julie. While they were talking, Doug admitted that he developed feelings for her. He was embarrassed since she had a boyfriend. Doug thought they could act like he didn’t say it, but she didn’t think she could do that. Tate arrived and apologized for being late. He noticed Doug and didn’t expect to see him there. Doug apologized for interrupting and told him about the book. After Doug left, Holly wanted to know what kept him from arriving at the cabin. He told her about Johnny and Chanel wanting to adopt the baby. Holly wanted to know if it would be strange for him and Sophia to be that close to their baby. He felt like they would work it out. Tate promised that nothing would come between them again.

Seth announced to Kayla and Stephanie that the hospital was going under and that the soap was keeping it going. Now that the soap is over, the hospital is going to close. Kayla explained to Seth that it’s bad for the people of Salem to lose the hospital. Seth didn’t seem to care and cleaned out his desk. Kayla couldn’t believe the hospital chose money over people. Stephanie had ideas of how to save the hospital. She promised her mother that they would save the hospital. Holly and Tate talked about Valentine’s Day plans. They were about to kiss when Sophia showed up at the pub. She announced that she found a couple to adopt their child. Sophia told Tate that her mother knew the couple and liked them. The plan may work since Amy knew the couple. Sophia wanted him to go with her to meet the couple. Holly was annoyed but wished them luck. Johnny and Chanel talked about the soap ending. He said that everyone could stay with the show if they were willing to relocate. Johnny told her that Hattie agreed to move to California. He wanted to talk about his plans for the future. Chanel reminded him that they were going to Los Angeles before they lost the baby. He wanted to focus on their marriage before worrying about moving. Chanel wanted to know what was really going on. He didn’t want to put distance between them when they were trying to work things out. She didn’t want him to sacrifice his dreams because he wanted to think of what she wanted. His dream is to be with her. There were things he could do in Salem. He wanted to have a family with her.

Joy asked Alex if he wanted to stay in Salem for Stephanie. He tried to avoid the question, but Joy confronted him about kissing Stephanie. Alex apologized to her, but she decided to end things with him. She thought he was the only person she could trust, but he kissed someone behind her back. Alex admitted that he wanted to be with Stephanie weeks ago which made her angry. It didn’t occur to him that she thought they were seriously together. Joy was outraged but grateful they saved her life. She didn’t know what to do with her life. Alex suggested that she go to Los Angeles. She wanted him to get out of her hospital room. Joy thought he wanted her to be far away from him. She called her mother to let her know that she didn’t know what to do next. Sophia got a call letting her know that the couple backed out of adopting the baby. Tate assured her that things would be okay. They would find another couple to adopt the baby. Sophia wasn’t sure because her mother was tough to please. While Tate comforted her, Johnny and Chanel approached them. Tate introduced everyone. Johnny wanted to know what happened. Tate informed Johnny and Chanel about the couple who backed out of the adoption. Sophia had to leave so Johnny and Chanel comforted Tate. He said he was fine, but Sophia didn’t have anyone to help her. Tate told her about Holly and her issues with the baby. Chanel thought he was worth the trouble. Stephanie talked to Alex about what happened with the hospital. He offered to help her save the hospital. They kissed each other while Joy watched them in the background. Johnny and Chanel felt bad for Tate, and it reminded them about what happened with their baby. They decide they want to try to have another baby. Johnny suggested they go see Kayla to find out if they could try again.

Jada told Belle that EJ set her up and didn’t understand how she could defend him. Belle didn’t know where EJ was. Jada noticed the door to the tunnels was open and thought EJ was hiding from her. She decided to see if he was through the tunnels. Rafe was upset that EJ allowed Jada to believe that he left her at the altar. He thought Jada was heartbroken. Rafe was grateful that Arnold would be able to pull off being commissioner. EJ said Rafe got away with it for years. They went back and forth until EJ gagged him. EJ walked out of the room and ran into Jada. She confronted him about making people believe she was a corrupt cop. Rafe screamed and Jada wondered what the noise was. EJ lied and said the construction workers were in the other room. They smirked at each other until they went upstairs. If Ava wasn’t with Tripp, Brady wondered what happened to her. He talked to Tripp until Steve took the phone. Steve assured Tripp that he would find out what happened with Ava. He believed she had a change of plans. After Steve got off the phone, Brady told him that he didn’t think Ava was okay. Steve looked at the messages on Brady’s phone to figure out where she could be. Brady didn’t think her texts made sense. Steve thought she might have planned to see Tripp but didn’t make it. He feared she might have been taken out because of her mob connections and her dealings with Clyde. Brady wasn’t sure that was it. He told her about the voice message he received. Steve listened to the message and wondered if someone else sent it. They realized that Ava could be in serious trouble. Kristen saw her mother at the Blake house. She was shocked and hugged her. Ava tried to interrupt them, but the woman in white stopped her. Kristen told her how she ended up in the house. It occurred to Kristen that her mother was behind Ava’s kidnapping. Ava wanted to get released, but the woman in white gagged her. Kristen wondered how her mother was still alive. She explained what happened to her. Her mother was surprised to find out that Stefano was dead. Kristen wanted to know why she didn’t reach out to her or Peter. She told Kristen that Rachel inspired her to want to come out of hiding.

Paulina thanked Shawn for his help with everything going on with Jada. She was counting on him to make the transition easier. Paulina told him that she planned to make Rafe the commissioner again. Shawn thought it was a slap in the face to replace Jada since she’s innocent. Paulina thought she had to take the charges seriously since Rafe believed Jada did it. Shawn stressed that Jada was innocent. Paulina believed people were innocent until proven guilty, but she couldn’t let the people of Salem lose confidence in the police department. Shawn understood that, but he didn’t get why she needed to replace her with Rafe. He didn’t like how Rafe agreed to work with EJ to go after Jada. She said she had to tell Jada about replacing her. Shawn stopped her and said he wanted to tell her about it. Jada told EJ that she didn’t believe anything he had to say. EJ didn’t care that she didn’t believe him. Belle heard the way he spoke to Jada and told him about it. Jada decided to leave the DiMera mansion. Belle told him that she lied to Jada because she didn’t want her to know their connection. She confronted him about the evidence he had on Jada. EJ didn’t want to talk about it, but Belle wouldn’t let it go. He couldn’t believe she thought he would make up evidence against Jada. Belle hoped he wouldn’t do that to her. They kissed each other. Shawn went to Rafe’s place to see Jada. He let her know that he had news for her. EJ went back to the tunnels to see Rafe. Rafe screamed out for Jada. EJ pulled out a syringe to use on him. Belle arrived at the station and Paulina told her about replacing Jada with Rafe as commissioner. Paulina hoped the investigation would clear Jada. If the investigation was true, Belle had to prosecute Jada.

Kayla collapsed in Steve’s arms. He took her to the couch, but she was barely breathing. Steve took matters into his own hands and called 9-1-1. Alex and Stephanie admitted they wanted to be together, but he fell to the couch before kissing her. She was able to wake him after he passed out. Stephanie called the police. She was put on hold so she decided to take care of him by herself. The hospital sent someone out, but Stephanie was able to help him. Johnny wondered why Leo killed off Seth from the show. He didn’t feel right and passed out. Chanel helped him by waking him up. She called an ambulance, but she was told to wait because there were a lot of people calling. She took matters into her own hands and took him to the hospital. Leo put it together and realized the stalker created the new scripts for the show. Hattie fell on his bed, and he wanted her off the bed. He started panicking when he realized that she wasn’t waking up. Leo thought about their times together, but she was gone. He tapped her head with his gloved hand. Leo tried to figure out who she died until she started murmuring. He was shocked that she was alive. Abe figured out who was behind the attacks. He couldn’t believe that he didn’t figure it out sooner. Abe’s picture was crossed out with a red X by the stalker. Whitley was in her hospital room when Abe showed up. She wondered what took him so long to get there. He saw the board with everyone’s picture crossed out. Abe accused her of attacking his cast. Whitley informed him that his suspicions were right. Abe figured it was her when Kassandra was killed by a cat. Whitley admitted she did it and would do it again. She explained that Abe and the rest of the cast ruined her favorite soap opera. He couldn’t believe her reasoning for stalking the cast. She wanted to show him the error of his ways before the show was destroyed. Abe wanted to know how she went after Bonnie while she was in Bayview. Whitley explained how the people at Bayview thought she was harmless. She followed social media to find out everything she needed to take them out. Whitley explained how the show was all she had after losing her husband and said that Abe was next. The nurse was about to inject him with a vial of poison when Paulina arrived to stop her. Paulina wasn’t going to let Abe deal with Whitley alone. She hoped that the other people she attacked got help too.

Sarah found Seth reading a script. He informed her that he’s been fired from the show. Seth couldn’t believe his character was getting killed off the show when he was a great actor. He ranted about letting the show to get filmed at the hospital. Seth continued his rant and talked about dying the way Whitley King’s husband died. Sarah defended Whitley by reminding him about the way she lost her husband. Seth was more concerned with how he died on the show. He started coughing and clutching his chest. Seth was in pain so he sat down. Sarah raced to check on him. Steve brought Kayla to the hospital and explained what happened to Sarah. Sarah told him what happened to Seth. After talking with Steve, she was convinced they were poisoned. Steve sat by Kayla’s bed and wished for her to come back to him. Chanel and Johnny arrived at the hospital. Sarah told them that she thinks the scripts were poisoned. Later Sarah created an antidote to stop the poison from harming anyone. She took the antidote to Kayla’s room and injected her. After she left Kayla’s room, she went to Johnny’s with the antidote. She assured Chanel that he would make a full recovery. After Sarah left the room, Johnny promised he wouldn’t leave Chanel again. Chanel realized how much he meant to her when she almost lost him. She believed that everything that happened will make them stronger. They promised not to take each other for granted again. The couple kissed each other.

Shawn talked to Paulina on the phone and let her know that Chanel was fine. She didn’t want anyone to know where she was staying. Chanel appeared in the room after he got off the phone. She was wearing Shawn’s shirt. He asked her if she remembered what happened the night before. She remembered seeing him at the bar, their kiss and going to the house. Chanel wondered if they hooked up the night before. Shawn assured her that nothing happened between them. Chanel apologized for flirting with him when she’s still married. Johnny forgot about their vows, but she didn’t want to do that. Shawn let her know that Johnny would be miserable without her. He advised her to focus on the good times they shared and not on one mistake. She appreciated his advice. They talked about their marriages and how infidelity played a part in destroying his marriage. She’s not sure if she’s ready to end her marriage. Shawn advised her to fight for her marriage. Johnny tried to reach Chanel when Kristen walked in the room. They talked about Rachel being back home. Kristen told him about her family scrapbook which led to Rachel going to Aremid. She began telling him about the woman in white being her mother and how thankful she was that she was alive only to find out that she and Stefano were presumed dead in the Paris tunnels. Rachel called the woman in white to check on Ava. Ava was tied to a chair. The woman in white assured Rachel that her parents would get back together now that Ava is out of the way. Rachel warned her to keep an eye on Ava because she was sneaky. The lady took the gag off Ava’s mouth letting her know that no one would hear her scream. Ava wondered why Rachel was there. The woman told her that she helped Rachel get her out of the way so her parents could get back together. Ava wondered who the woman was. The only thing the woman said was that she was someone who wanted to see people get back together. Ava knew about family and told her about her son. She asked the woman to let her go so she could go to her son’s wedding. The woman said that letting her go would hurt Rachel. Making her disappear would help Rachel get what she wants. Ava warned her that she could have her killed with one phone call. The woman wasn’t intimidated by her threat because she dealt with a truly dangerous man in her life. Ava believed Brady would rescue her soon. The woman felt like Brady didn’t care enough  to bother looking for her.

Brady got worried when he couldn’t reach Ava. Marlena walked in the room saying that Belle had a hard night since she was still sleeping. Brady talked to Marlena about Rachel. Marlena couldn’t believe that Rachel went to Aremid by herself. He admitted that Rachel wanted him to get back together with her mother. They decided to let Rachel get therapy, and Marlena gave him the name of a doctor. Belle woke up and found EJ next to her in bed. She woke him up and hit him with a pillow. EJ remembered what happened between them. He wondered why she allowed him to go home with her. They realized they got caught up in the moment and made love again. After they made love again, EJ and Bell talked about what would happen if Sami found out. EJ and Belle started arguing over it when Marlena walked in the room. EJ struggled to get his clothes while Marlena and Belle got into a heated discussion about what happened. Belle reminded her that she was a grown woman and that she should have knocked on the door. Marlena couldn’t believe she hooked up with EJ after he hurt their family. If Belle wanted to keep seeing EJ, she wouldn’t do it under her roof. After Marlena left the room, EJ and Belle talked about how embarrassed they were at getting caught. He thought they should be more careful next time. Belle informed him there wouldn’t be a next time. Brady showed up at the DiMera mansion telling Kristen that he made an appointment for Rachel to see the therapist. Kristen demanded to go and made a comment about Ava. They listened to her voicemail. They couldn’t figure out what her message meant. Rachel overheard Brady talking about having trouble reaching Ava. Chanel went to Paulina and Abe’s place to find Johnny waiting for her. He told her that Paulina let him in the place because he was worried about her. Johnny wondered where she was, and she told him that she spent the night with Shawn. Shawn arrived at the townhouse to bring Rachel’s pictures back. Marlena tried to get him to leave when Belle and EJ came out of her bedroom.

Holly apologized to Doug for showing up at the Horton house. She talked to him about her drama with Tate and Sophia. Doug tried to calm her down as she started getting excited about the situation. She felt like the baby would never be out of Tate’s life, and he could still marry Sophia. Tate reminds her that she’s dealing with a lot. They had a close moment when he held her, but he ended the hug when the doorbell rang. Leo arrived at the house to talk about the necklace. He tried to cover, but Doug let him know that Holly knew everything. Leo could get the necklace back, but it would cost him more than he got selling it. Doug wanted to pay Holly back first and then worry about the necklace. He wanted a job so Leo suggested he work for him as his assistant. Sophia looked through flyers about Rachel being missing when Tate arrived. He let her know that there hasn’t been any news about Rachel. Tate suggested they split up to search, but she wanted to talk about the adoption. She wondered if they could give the baby up for adoption with or without her mother’s approval. Sophia said she would be 18 before the baby was born so her mother didn’t need to know about the adoption. Tate wasn’t sure that was a good idea because she couldn’t explain why she didn’t have the baby after she gave birth to it. Sophia felt like it would be too late for her mother to do anything about it. He thought they would decide not to pay for her to go to college. Sophia wasn’t too worried about it because she could support herself if she got disowned. Tate suggested they give the baby to a couple her mother would like. Sophia thought they would have to be super religious for her to approve of them.

Ava arrived at the Blake house and got distracted by Rachel’s stuffed snake. The distraction allowed Rachel and the woman in white to sneak up on her. They attacked her with a candlestick. Brady checked his messages, but Ava’s message cut off before he could hear it. He tried to call Ava back, but he didn’t get an answer. The woman in white heard Ava’s phone ringing and let it go to voicemail. Rachel wanted to know if Ava was dead. The woman told her that she was alive. She thought it was better that Rachel’s parents could get back together without Ava being in the way. Rachel thought things would be okay until she woke up. The woman in white suggested they come up with a new plan for Ava so Rachel could get what she wanted. Brady went to Kristen’s place to tell her that JJ didn’t find anything. Kristen informed Brady that EJ was supportive of her even though they aren’t blood related. She said that EJ was interested in the Blake family. Kristen said that her scrapbook was missing. Brady realized that Rachel took the book. If Rachel took it, that might be a clue. They realized that Aremid isn’t that far and rushed out. Brady and Kristen arrived at the house, but it looked empty. He noticed Rachel’s shoe and pulled it from under a sheet. They found Rachel, and she was happy to see her parents. Brady and Kristen were thankful they found Rachel, but they wished she said where she was going. They assumed she was alone, but she said she had her snake with her. Kristen informed her daughter that she was in trouble, and they would talk when they left. Rachel went back inside to let the woman in white that her parents found her. The plan could still work for them. Rachel had to take Ava’s phone, and the woman would take care of Ava.

Leo had a nightmare about Kerry bursting in the room with a gun. He woke up to find Javi waiting for him. Leo told Javi about his nightmare. Javi reassured him that Kerry was out of the picture. He wanted to spend the day together, and Leo wanted to do that too. He just needed to find out what his nightmare meant. Javi felt it meant that Kerry was gone for good, and he didn’t have to miss him anymore. Jada wanted JJ to take over Rachel’s case because she felt like Bonnie’s fall down the elevator shaft wasn’t an accident. She received a text from Javi and said that they had a suspect to bring to the station. The stalker was shown drawing an “x” on Bonnie’s picture. Stephanie told Alex about her breakup with Philip. She said she was with Philip because of him. Stephanie didn’t want to stop seeing Alex. He admitted that he didn’t want it to end either. They didn’t want to end their friendship. Joy was just a cover and that’s when she decided to see Philip. Alex admitted that he spent the night with Joy on New Year’s Eve because he thought she moved on with her life. He wanted to move on too. They realized they made mistakes and wondered if they should be together while working together. Stephanie suggested that she quit the show so they could be together. He didn’t want her to give up her biggest client so they could be together. She missed him more than she loved the job. Alex worried what would happen if they didn’t work out. She thought there was a chance that they could make it work. While they were talking, Joy arrived. She gave Alex a hug and wanted to take him to see Bonnie. Seth panicked about the ramifications of Bonnie’s fall, but Kate reassured him that the show’s insurance would handle it. Joy overheard Kate’s conversation and thought Chanel quitting caused problems for the show. Kate told her about Bonnie. She felt like Bonnie was responsible for being on the set when she was, but Joy didn’t think it was her fault. Joy felt like Chanel quitting was responsible because the exit scene was rushed. Kate shot down her theory and wondered why she thought that way. Joy was upset that Chanel slapped her, and she was done letting her blame her for what happened with Johnny. She didn’t like Johnny in that way. Joy told her that she was dating Alex. Kate advised her about dating a co-worker.

Abe went to see Kayla to check on Bonnie. She informed him that she was resting, but she wouldn’t be back to work soon. Abe felt like he was screwed after everything that happened. He wondered what else would go wrong. Abe asked Kayla to play Cassandra to help keep everyone employed, but she wouldn’t do it. He continued to plead with her to do the soap temporarily. Jada talked with Kerry at the station. she wanted to know what happened to Bonnie. She explained to him how he had the opportunity to attack Bonnie. Kerry told Jada that his issue was with Leo because he rejected him. He gave Jada his phone, but she said it could have been a burner phone. He was ready to leave, but she wasn’t ready to stop talking. She didn’t have anything concrete on Kerry so she told him not to leave town. Abe met with Kate and told her that Bonnie would be out for a while. He was able to get Kayla to fill in for her temporarily. Kate wasn’t sure if they should work with Kayla. Kayla called Steve to tell him the news about being on the show. She noticed Stephanie looking sad. Stephanie told her what happened with the soap. Kayla let her know that she would be on the show temporarily. Alex and Joy talk about Bonnie’s situation. Joy felt like he and Bonnie were the only people she could tolerate on the show. She let him know that she told Kate that he was the only one there for her. Jada wanted a background check done on Kerry. She called Justin to tell him that she would find the person responsible for what happened to Bonnie. Someone hung a picture of Bonnie up with an “x” through it. He reached for a picture of Alex.

Alex took Joy to work. She admitted that she was nervous about going to the set. Abe wanted to see her, but she didn’t know why. She wasn’t sure if Abe was going to fire her. Bonnie wanted to talk to Johnny about cutting a scene out of the show. Johnny didn’t care because he had more important things to worry about. Bonnie admitted that she heard about his problems with Joy from Seth. He couldn’t believe he let jealousy get in the way of his marriage. Bonnie wondered if he and Joy used protection. He informed her they didn’t take things that far. She didn’t hide her surprise. Bonnie wondered why Chanel was upset if they didn’t have sex. He didn’t sleep with Joy, but he betrayed her trust by lying to her. Johnny informed her that Chanel quit the show. She couldn’t believe it. How was she getting written out of the show? Bonnie knew that Reagan and Arrow were going to have a baby but didn’t know how Faith would be written out. Abe called Kate and told her that Leo figured out the identity of Lady Whistleblower. He told her that Leo thought it was Javi. Alex and Joy arrived at the set. Abe told them that he wanted to talk to them about what happened between them. He felt like their relationship could work to the show’s advantage. Reagan and Arrow are going to hook up on the show. Joy was relieved that she wasn’t getting fired. Abe didn’t like what happened between Joy and Johnny, but they had to get through it. He announced that Chanel quit the show, and it had to move on one way or another. Alex and Joy were okay with the change. He felt like their chemistry would show on screen. Abe was confused and asked if they were together. Alex assumed he knew about them being together. Abe didn’t see it as a problem. He wondered what that meant for Stephanie though.

Hattie went to see Kate. She was dressed in disguise so no one would see her on the set. Kate gave her the ground rules about her being back on the set. She wasn’t allowed to stir up drama or argue with Bonnie. Hattie promised to abide by the rules. Kate gave her a 13-week contract. Hattie refused to sign the contract. Kate told her that it was a probationary contract. Hattie didn’t think it was fair, but Kate told her it was the same contract as Bonnie’s. She had to take it or leave it. Paulina tried to talk Chanel out of quitting the soap. Chanel didn’t want to work with Johnny and Joy every day. She told her that Abe would have to resort to plan A. The plan was to kill her character off the show. Paulina advised her to go back to shoot her final scenes and thank Abe and Kate for letting her out of her contract. Chanel agreed to do it. Hattie and Bonnie were about to work on their scenes. She thought her character was being brought back from the dead. Kate informed her that she would be back after she received the flower serum. Hattie didn’t like that she wouldn’t have lines. Kate warned her to agree to the script, or she was gone. Alex and Joy didn’t know how to explain their relationship to Abe. Abe told them to figure it out and let him and Kate know. He walked away from them. Alex wanted to talk about where they stood. Joy didn’t want to pressure him since she knew about his situation with Stephanie. Alex reminded her that Stephanie moved on with Philip. He wanted to move on too. They liked spending time together. Chanel arrived at the set, and Johnny met with her. They looked at Alex and Joy together. Joy thought she quit, and Chanel told her that she was filming her last scenes. She was only there for Abe. Chanel asked Johnny how her character was going to die. He told her that Leo couldn’t come up with anything new so she was dying the same way Charlemagne did. She was going down the elevator shaft. Chanel couldn’t believe that’s how her character died. Johnny was hoping they could work things out, but she didn’t have anything to say to him. The idea of being in the same room with him and Joy was making her sick. She wanted to get the scenes over with. Joy and Chanel rehearsed their scenes. Chanel slapped Joy very hard but said she was in character. Joy couldn’t wait for Chanel to go down the elevator shaft. Later Abe went home and talked to Paulina about what happened on the set. He also told her who Leo thought was Lady Whistleblower. Paulina thought his theory wasn’t concrete. Leo burst into Javi’s room to confront Kerry about being Lady Whistleblower. Javi thought Leo was talking about him, but he wasn’t. Leo told him that Kerry was the guilty party. He called Kerry evil and said he couldn’t spell. Kerry denied his accusation. Javi wondered if he truly believed that Kerry was Lady Whistleblower, and Leo said he did. Kerry said it was Leo’s jealousy doing the talking. Leo told Javi about the clues that led to his accusations. He told him about the trap he set up for Kerry. After listening to Leo, Javi asked Kerry if it was true. Kerry continued to deny it. Leo said they were the only ones who knew about the devil possession storyline. Kerry said someone could have listened to them. Leo had more proof because he had surveillance of Kerry breaking into his room and stealing his computer. Javi wanted to know why Kerry did it. Kerry told him that he was a fan of the show and tried to seduce Leo only to get humiliated. Leo said he wasn’t ready to commit and that didn’t justify what he did. Javi heard enough. Kerry wanted to know if Javi was going to break up with him. Javi was finished with him because of what he did.

At the DiMera mansion, Jada orders EJ to tell her where Rafe was. When EJ was about to let Jada out, Arnold showed up. Jada wanted to know what was going on and asked them questions. She asked “Rafe” about the secret mission he was supposed to be doing. Arnold lied about what he was doing. EJ interrupted Arnold to say Rafe was working for him by tracking down Sloan so she could pay for what she did. Jada wondered why EJ didn’t just let the situation go since he wasn’t a victim in the situation. EJ said he had time on his hands and Sloan made a fool out of him so she had to pay. He said he hired Rafe to find her. Arnold said he wanted to tell her, but EJ made him promise not to say anything. An unconvinced Jada asked EJ if he had Rafe doing something illegal. Arnold said he wasn’t doing anything illegal. He said he had to prove himself to John and Steve. Jada asked where he was looking for Sloan since he hasn’t been home and was in the secret tunnel. Arnold said he was traveling and just got back. He said he was in the secret tunnel so no one would see him and his arrangement with EJ would stay secret. Rafe said he was charging EJ a lot of money so he could get her something for the wedding. Jada was skeptical but ended up believing Arnold’s lies. She ended up leaving to go to the police station. EJ and Arnold were shocked at how they were almost caught. At Titan, Philip talked to Kate on the phone. He said he didn’t know if she got through to Sarah and wasn’t sure if Xander was going to show up and kill him. When Xander showed up, Philip got off the phone. Xander offered a peace offering, but Philip was skeptical. He told Philip that he talked to Maggie about making peace with him. Xander said if Victor trusted him, he could too. He said he overheard Philip saying something about killing him. Philip lied about what Xander heard. Xander said he wasn’t going to kill him and suggested they make their arrangement work. He asked if Philip was willing to work together without betraying each other. Philip wanted to apologize on behalf of Victor for keeping the truth from him and treating him the way he did. He said Victor wasn’t around much but made up for it by being overbearing while grooming him. Philip said Victor treated Xander like that because he was the son most like him. He said Victor died before he could prove that he changed. While they were talking, they decided they were going to prove themselves to Victor.

Sarah went to Stephanie and told her that she didn’t tell Xander the truth about Philip. She said her conversation with Kate and Philip convinced her not to say anything. Stephanie was shocked that Sarah was going to lie to Xander, but Sarah said she didn’t know what Xander would do. She said Xander wanted to start a war with the DiMeras, but Philip talked him out of it. Sarah said Philip and Xander getting along would keep the peace. She said Xander tried to kill Philip before, but it wouldn’t be good if he found out Philip did. While they were talking, Sarah asked Stephanie not to say anything. Stephanie said she was upset with Philip for using her, but doesn’t want to be the reason why Philip went to prison or Xander hurting him. She decided to keep the secret. Sarah was grateful that she was keeping the secret, but Stephanie wondered if she thought it through. Sarah said she was sure and had to worry about Xander finding out later. Leo went to Rafe’s house to look for him. Javi told him Rafe wasn’t home. They talked about the search for Lady Whistleblower. Javi told Leo that he hoped Lady Whistleblower pays for what she’s doing to him. Leo got a text from Abe who wasn’t happy about Faith’s exit. He wondered what Abe expected him to do about Chanel quitting out of the blue. Javi told him Kerry spent the night. Leo was uncomfortable but said he was happy for them. When Leo was about to leave, he noticed a shirt that said “I Love Rochester.” Gabi and Kerry were in the town square. They talked about Javi and Leo. Kerry said he was with Javi, but Leo was a problem. Gabi said she was afraid Javi was going to forgive Leo. Kerry said Leo was going to try and get back in Javi’s bed. She told him about Leo’s issues with Will and Sonny and said she would never forgive him. Gabi offered to help Kerry if he ever wanted to keep Leo from Javi. Sarah went to Titan to let Philip know she wasn’t going to tell Xander the truth. She said he had to make it work with Xander. Xander came in and heard Philip saying he owed Sarah. Philip said he was talking about her encouraging them to get along. EJ and Arnold were glad things worked out with Jada. When Arnold wanted his check, EJ said he might be able to use him as Rafe, but he had to keep his hands off Jada. He said he had a way for him to be able to do it. When Leo went back to his room, he realized Javi was Lady Whistleblower. When Abe called, Leo told him he knew who Lady Whistleblower was.

Marlena talked to Shane on the phone about John. Kayla and Steve showed up while Marlena was on the phone. Marlena let them know that she was trying to talk to John. Kayla suggested she get in touch with Kimberly. Steve wondered why she wanted to talk to Shane. Marlena told them what Cat told her about John saving her mother. Steve and Kayla were excited to hear that and thought John would be relieved. Marlena said he saved Catharina’s life. When Kayla left to go to the hospital, Marlena and Steve kept each other company. She opened up to him about being lonely without John. He asked if she heard from John during the holidays. Marlena said all she got was strawberries for Christmas. She asked if John was safe, but Steve didn’t know. He said Shane wouldn’t tell him what John was doing. Marlena said she was afraid John was slipping away from her. Chad and Cat ran into each other in the town square. She told him that she planned on staying in Salem and wondered if it was going to be an issue with him. He said it wasn’t up to him to decide where she lived. She promised to stay away from him. Chad said Salem was big enough for both of them and wanted to put everything behind him. Cat said she wanted to do the same thing. Maggie asked Xander about working with Philip. Xander said it was great when he found out he was Victor’s son and he trusted him to run the company over everyone else. When Philip showed up, he took it away. Maggie said he still had the company. He just had to run it with Philip. Xander said Philip was the worst. He said he wanted to get rid of Philip. A concerned Maggie warned him not to do anything rash. Xander said he wouldn’t do anything that would take him away from Sarah and Victoria. Maggie said he didn’t say he wouldn’t do anything. She let him know that Victor loved him and Philip. While they were talking, Maggie let him know that she wasn’t losing another family member so he shouldn’t do anything stupid. Xander brought up the will and letter to which Maggie said the situation was settled in court. She said the partnership wouldn’t be easy, but they had to find a way to work together. Xander asked if she was referring to her situation with Alex. He apologized to her for what he said. She said if he and Philip got along, they would break the curse. Xander agreed try and get along with Philip.

Stephanie told Sarah that Philip’s letter was a fake. She said Philip shouldn’t be co-CEO and told Sarah what Philip did. Stephanie said she wouldn’t have gotten involved with Philip if she knew what he was doing. She told Sarah she had to tell her the truth and wondered how Xander would take the news. Sarah said she didn’t know how Xander would take the news. When Sarah left, Stephanie checked her messages and listened to one that Philip left. He asked her not to say anything about the letter. She deleted the message and said it was too late. When she saw Kayla, she told her that she and Philip broke up. Kayla wanted to know what happened, but Stephanie thought it was better that she didn’t know what happened. She said she saw Philip’s true self and it made her sick. Kate went to see Philip at Titan and wondered what he wanted. Philip said Stephanie overheard them talking about the letter. He let her know that Stephanie was upset and thought she was going to say something. Kate talked about how judgmental the Bradys were. She wondered what he was going to do about it. Philip said he didn’t know where Stephanie was. He said he was dead if the truth came out. Kate said Stephanie wouldn’t be upset if she didn’t care. She thought he could reason with Stephanie once she cooled off. He said it could ruin Stephanie and Belle’s lives. While they were talking, Sarah came in and said she knew everything. When Philip and Kate acted as if they didn’t know what she was talking about. Sarah said she knew about the letter and how she found out about it. Philip assumed she didn’t tell Xander yet. Sarah said she didn’t tell him, but he was a dead man when she did. Kate suggested that she didn’t tell Xander the truth. She said it would protect Xander and Philip and keep Xander from hurting Philip. Sarah wanted to know why he did this. Kate said it was Vivian’s fault, but Sarah didn’t think that wasn’t good enough. Philip said Xander wasn’t above doing crazy things. He said he could keep Xander in check. Philip said he wanted to make Victor proud of him. He said this was his last attempt to prove that he was worthy of Victor’s legacy and asked her not to take it away from him. Sarah apologized to him before she left. Kate said she was glad he stood up to Sarah. He said he wanted to speak from the heart with Sarah. When Sarah went home, she told Xander that she talked to Stephanie about Philip. Before Sarah could tell him what Philip did, Xander said he promised Maggie to get along with Philip.
