Chad wanted JJ to go with him and the kids to the carnival fundraiser, but he wasn’t up for it. JJ told Chad about his fight with Gabi. He didn’t think they could work things out. Chad advised him to give Gabi some space. He thought the carnival would take JJ’s mind off of the fight. JJ changed his mind and decided to go. Chad, JJ and the kids arrived at the carnival. Cat took the kids to get face paint. Kayla talked to JJ about EJ’s shooting. She wondered if there were any leads on what happened. He talked about tracking down Ava. Kayla wasn’t surprised that they wanted to talk to Ava. Chad noticed Cat with his kids. He admired the way she handled his kids. Cat and Chad talked about the auction and explained it to Charlotte. She didn’t want her father to be involved in the auction because they might not bring him back. He reassured her that no one would take him away. Sarah had a nightmare that Philip told Xander about her involvement in his life. Xander woke Sarah up so they could go to the fundraiser. The couple arrived at the fundraiser, and Sarah wanted Xander to forget about Philip. He spotted Philip at the carnival. Alex told Stephanie that he was still thinking about what happened with Xander. They agreed that Xander shouldn’t find out about Sarah’s involvement in the secret. It was time to forget about the problem and focus on the fundraiser. Alex wasn’t really ready for it. Stephanie reminded him that he was part of a bachelor auction. Technically he’s a bachelor, but they were a couple. Alex and Stephanie start flirting with each other. Stephanie told him that his date with the woman who bid on him would be platonic.

Xander told Philip to get out of Salem. JJ got between them and wanted to make sure everything was okay. Xander wanted him to arrest Philip for fraud. JJ wanted more information, but Xander backed down. He told him that Philip messed up a business deal. JJ was about to leave when Xander warned him that he should stick around because he wanted to kill Philip. Sarah told JJ that it was a sibling rivalry so JJ walked away. Philip thanked EJ for not getting him in trouble with JJ. He told him that he did it because he has to work with him for the takeover at DiMera. Xander was prepared to beat Philip up so Sarah had to come between them. She sent Xander to get hot dogs while she talked to Philip. The bachelor action began. Alex was the first on the block. Stephanie and Leo bid for Alex. The bid got to $1,000 when Gabi showed up. She spotted JJ and bid $10,000 on Alex. The bidding war continued, and Gabi made it go up to $15,000. She looked at JJ to get his reaction to her bid. Leo and Javi approached JJ about accusing Gabi of attempted murder. He couldn’t believe she spent so much money to make him jealous. Sarah apologized to Philip and thanked him for not telling Xander about her involvement in his secret. She thought her marriage would be over if Xander found out the truth. He promised he wouldn’t say anything to Xander. Philip walked away from her. Xander stared at them from the background.

Philip went to see Belle and told her that the case she represented him for was based on fabricated evidence. She was shocked that they committed fraud. She was upset and wondered why he decided to tell her about it. Belle realized that Xander found out the truth. He told her what Vivian did and told her how Xander reacted to the news. She wondered how Xander found out when he and Vivian were the only ones who knew about it. Philip admitted that a few people knew about it. It wasn’t a good idea to tell him about it, but he apologized for getting her involved. She was upset, but she didn’t hate him for it. Belle would have felt like a hypocrite if she got mad at him and overlooked EJ’s actions. Her comment led to a discussion about EJ. She didn’t understand who she got involved with Sami’s ex-husband and why she couldn’t get over him. Belle couldn’t help him with the fraud case. She advised him to go to Justin. Sarah was about to apologize to Xander when Alex and Stephanie showed up. He told Alex and Stephanie what Philip did. They exchanged uncomfortable looks. Xander realized that they knew about it too. Sarah tried to get Xander to calm down. Xander put it together that the affair was a lie. Stephanie admitted that she knew a while ago and broke up with Philip. He wanted to know why she didn’t tell him the truth. Stephanie didn’t want to be responsible for hurting him. He thought he was being a coward. Xander looked at Alex. He wanted to know when he found out. Alex told him when he found out. He didn’t want to ruin his relationship with Philip or the takeover. Xander didn’t believe his excuse. He thought they felt he didn’t deserve to know the truth. Alex told him that Philip was responsible for what happened. They wanted to do the right thing, but Xander wasn’t so sure about that. Xander had to leave because Mr. Shin called him. Sarah apologized to Sarah and Alex for what happened. She would take the blame if Alex got fired. They talked her out of it because Xander couldn’t take another betrayal. Roman went to see Kayla to find out about EJ’s condition. She was surprised that he was concerned about it. Roman lied about looking for information for Johnny’s sake. Kayla told him that she could only mention putting him in an induced coma so his brain could heal. She let him know that Susan was in his room with him to use her psychic powers to find out the shooter. Kayla told him that EJ probably saw his shooter so Susan wouldn’t need her psychic powers. Roman looked worried when she told him that EJ probably saw his shooter.

Susan was trying to use her psychic powers when Kayla walked in the room. She blamed Kayla for disrupting her psychic connection. Susan was about to find out the identity of EJ’s shooter. They talked about EJ’s condition. Susan said EJ was getting restless. Kayla thought it was time to get EJ out of the coma. She wanted to do it slowly to make sure he didn’t have another seizure. Kayla told Susan that she was his next of kin so she had to decide when to bring him out of the coma. Susan wanted Kayla to take him out of the coma. Belle walked in while Kayla was bringing EJ out of the coma. It was a waiting game now. Kate and Rex were at the pub. She mentioned how he accused her of trying to murder EJ. Rex let her know that he thought Roman had a motive too. He suspected both of them of shooting him. Roman arrived and took Rex to the airport. After they left, Philip arrived at the pub. He told Kate that Vivian told Xander everything. He told her that Xander threw him out of the house. They couldn’t believe Vivian told Xander the truth. Kate honestly believed that Philip should have half of Titan. Philip wanted Belle to help him fight to stay out of jail. Xander told Sarah that he talked to Mr. Shin. He found out that it would compromise the takeover if the truth came out. Xander had to keep working with Philip. He couldn’t do anything about it. Belle sat by EJ’s side and talked to him. Susan tried to help him by telling him that the woman he loved was by his side. Belle was shocked to hear that. Susan let her know that you didn’t need to be psychic to know that. Belle admitted that she loved EJ. Susan wanted her to take EJ’s hand. She grabbed his hand and told him that she loved him. EJ’s heart rate started to rise, and he opened his eyes.

Philip was on the phone with Melinda. He let her know that he and Xander agreed on her termination. Maggie came in the room and wanted to congratulate him on working with the company. Before he could warn her, Vivian walked in the room. She demanded breakfast. Maggie thought she broke out of prison. Philip told her that Vivian was on parole. Maggie was going to check on Holly and demanded that Vivian be gone when she got back downstairs. After Maggie went upstairs, Vivian gave Philip a warning. If she was out, he was going to be too. She wouldn’t destroy his life as long as she got what she was owed with interest. Philip let her know that she would get her money, but he and Kate weren’t going to kill Xander. Vivian planned to destroy everything. He warned her that she would lose out too and would go back to prison for forgery. Philip said he would pay her, but she had to be patient. She had trouble being patient. He said he would buy her a mansion once he had the money. Vivian couldn’t believe he was throwing her out. She decided to stay at the Salem Inn. Kristen pulled her gun on Xander and told him about poking the bear. She couldn’t believe her former henchman turned on her. Xander had one chance to live. He had to tell Mr. Shin to undo the takeover and put her back in charge. Xander reached for the phone, but he refused to do it. He wanted to know if she wanted to risk losing Rachel. Xander said that Rachel had a mother who would do anything for her unlike him. She slowly put the gun down, and he told her to leave before he called the cops. Kristen wanted to negotiate with him by running the company instead of Mr. Shin, but Xander wouldn’t agree to it. He didn’t want to work with her. She was determined to make sure Xander and Philip ended up with nothing. JJ told Gabi that they had to get more suspects now that Kristen has been cleared. He thought she could be a suspect. Gabi was shocked by his admission. She was angry so JJ explained why he thought she shot EJ. Gabi told him that she wouldn’t have gained anything by shooting EJ. JJ thought she wanted to get revenge. Gabi reminded him that she was in prison twice for crimes she didn’t commit. She didn’t want to risk going back to prison. JJ wanted to know her alibi. She told him that she was home. JJ informed her that she wasn’t there when he got there. She wondered if he was calling her a liar, and he admitted that he did think she was lying. He reminded her that he ran into her at the town square. Gabi forgot about that. There was a flash of Gabi at the DiMera mansion with a gun in her hand. She went to the square because she forgot her planner and went back home. JJ told her that the evidence pointed to her, and he hated it. He had to do his job. She had a motive, the opportunity, and the weapon to shoot EJ.

Kate called Lucas and told him that he could come out of hiding because EJ was in a coma. She said that she didn’t shoot him. Sami arrived at the pub and talked to Kate. They joked with each other while they were having coffee. Kate told her that she and Roman felt bad about telling Johnny the truth about his conception. Sami told her that she wasn’t mad about it. She didn’t skip dinner because she was upset. Sami was with Rafe. She went to his place to thank him for talking to Johnny and spent the night with him. Kate thought that it was good that she was with him because Rafe was a good man. She reminded her that Rafe had a fiancee. Sami said it didn’t work out between Rafe and Jada after she slept with Shawn. Kate was shocked that she slept with Shawn. Sami didn’t realize that Kate didn’t know about it. Kate wondered if he found that out before or after EJ was shot. Sami couldn’t believe Kate thought Rafe could have shot EJ. It didn’t matter since Kristen was the prime suspect. Sami hoped it was Kristen because she didn’t like the idea that Johnny could have shot his father. Kate thought Rafe was the one who did it. Rafe met with Jada at Small Bar. He accused her of sleeping with Shawn again. Rafe told her that he saw her blouse on his couch. Jada let him know that he got the wrong idea. She assured him that nothing happened with Shawn. Jada got drunk and crashed on his couch. She begged him to forgive her. Rafe forgave her and became uncomfortable. He wished Shawn told him that instead of finding her blouse. Rafe wished he confronted Shawn instead of leaving. Jada wanted to know what he meant. Rafe told her that Sami stopped by his place and was upset. They ended up in bed together. Jada couldn’t believe what she heard. He apologized for what happened. Everything that happened was a misunderstanding. She reminded him about the misunderstanding that happened when she slept with Shawn. All it took was one shirt for him to think she was a slut. He apologized and begged her to forgive him, but she didn’t want to do it. She told him the truth about Shawn, but he didn’t want to believe her. Jada didn’t know how they could move on from it. She reminded him that he wanted space and now she wanted it too. Sami was shocked to see Kristen at the town square. She told her that she didn’t shoot EJ. Kristen thought Gabi did it. Gabi thought JJ cared about her. She thought she could trust him. JJ let her know that she could trust him. He was trying to be professional. Gabi told him to talk to her lawyer because she was done with him. Philip went to the pub to see his mother. They had to pay Vivian before she ruined everything. He was sure everything would be fine once she got her money. Xander was in his office when Vivian walked into the room.

Shawn brought Rafe to his place. Rafe confronted him about sleeping with Jada. Shawn apologized for what he did and told him that he wasn’t in a great place. Rafe felt like he used Jada. He denied using Jada because he cared about her. Rafe was shocked that he had feelings for Jada. Shawn denied having feelings for her. He told Rafe that Jada didn’t do anything wrong. Shawn received a phone call, and Rafe looked around the place. He spotted Jada’s blouse on his couch and wondered if they were really together once. Shawn returned, but Rafe was gone. Sami wanted to go to the pub with Johnny. He wanted to go home and think. She understood that he wanted to think. Johnny told her that Rafe was the reason why he was able to listen to what happened. She wanted to ask him what she was going to ask before, but she decided not to. Chanel brought her mother some tea to drink. Paulina was annoyed with her for accusing her of shooting EJ. Chanel wasn’t in a good place because of Johnny’s emotional trauma. Paulina left just as Johnny arrived at home. He let her know that he talked to his mother. Chanel wondered how the conversation went with Sami. He said he was having a hard time dealing with his mother falling in love with his father. Johnny never felt closer to his mother, but his father has become a stranger. He didn’t know if he could ever get over his anger. Johnny thought about good memories with his father. He didn’t think he could ever love him again because all he thought about was his father raped his mother. Johnny thought his father got what he deserved. Jada touched her gun and thought about Shawn realizing it was gone. She put the gun in her drawer and wiped her hands when Paulina arrived in her office. Paulina wanted to know what to say about EJ’s shooting, and she told her they had nothing so far. They were waiting for the ballistics report on Kristen’s gun. If it wasn’t a match, Paulina wanted to know about the other suspects. For now, Kristen was their main suspect. Paulina wanted Jada to get some rest. Jada filled her in about what happened with Rafe. Paulina told Jada that Rafe would come around.

Kate told Roman about her run in with Vivian. Roman wondered what made Vivian think Philip would give her anything. Kate told him that Vivian was insane. Roman was about to tell her something about EJ’s shooting when Sami arrived at the pub. She told them how she talked to Johnny and hoped the conversation went well. They apologized for telling Johnny the truth. She was okay with it because the conversation was long overdue. He invited Sami to dinner, but she had another stop to make. Roman and Kate talked about the gun that Rex found. She was shocked that Rex thought she killed EJ. Kate mentioned that Philip thought she did it too. Two of her sons thought she could shoot EJ. Kate denied shooting him. Jada went to Shawn’s place and told him that Stephanie invited her to stay with her again. Shawn warned her that Rafe was there and it didn’t go well. Sami showed up at Rafe’s place. He told her about his conversation with Johnny. She knew about his conversation. Sami let him know that she and Johnny talked. She admitted that she was there for another reason. Sami was scared that Johnny might have shot EJ. Rafe believed that Johnny didn’t do it. He talked to her about his problems with Jada. Sami couldn’t believe Arnold was back. She was disgusted that EJ would work with him again. Arnold didn’t violate Jada. Rafe told Sami that Jada slept with Shawn. Sami was shocked that Jada slept with him. She defended Jada and thought he shouldn’t be upset that she didn’t know who he was. Rafe was starting to see things clearly until he found Jada’s blouse at Shawn’s place. He thought they were together again. Shawn let Jada know that he thought he was getting through to Rafe and then he walked out of the house. He let her know that he didn’t tell Rafe that she spent the night. Rafe talked to Sami about losing Jada to Shawn again. Sami felt like he was a good man. If she had it to do again, she wouldn’t have taken their relationship for granted. Her relationship with Rafe was the healthiest one she had. They leaned in and kissed each other.

Xander met with Mr. Shin and they talked about EJ’s shooting. He told him how the shooting makes DiMera look bad. Mr. Shin wasn’t happy about the company dealing with the scandal. Xander talked to him about the article in The Spectator about the family. Mr. Shin thought things would be bad if EJ remained in the coma. Xander suggested that he vote EJ’s votes by proxy and vote no confidence in Kristen. He said he could be the temporary CEO so he could take advantage of Titan’s lucrative offer. Mr. Shin reminded him that Kristen had a large amount of the voting stock. Gabi and Melinda talked about EJ’s shooting. They wondered who did it. Gabi told her that Kristen was trying to blame her for the shooting. She told Melinda that Kristen had a good reason to shoot EJ too. JJ and Shawn told Kristen that had a warrant to search her room and belongings. She let them search. They found her gun and asked her if she could explain why she had it. She didn’t want to answer their questions so Shawn pulled her aside. JJ searched her bedroom. He remembered finding Gabi holding a gun on EJ in the living room. After the search, Shawn and JJ realized there was nothing incriminating in her room. CSI wasn’t finished searching so they had questions about the gun. They wanted to know where she got it and did she use it to shoot EJ. Kristen didn’t answer them. JJ reminded her about reuniting with her mother and how she suddenly disappeared. They thought EJ was the reason why she disappeared and that’s why Kristen may have shot him. Kristen found it funny and said she wouldn’t tell them even if she did shoot EJ. She refused to answer their questions until her lawyer arrived.

Kristen wanted Melinda to drop what she was doing and show up at the station. Melinda told Gabi that Kristen was being questioned for EJ’s shooting. Gabi called Rafe to tell him about Kristen being questioned for EJ’s shooting. She flashed back to standing outside of the DiMera living room window the night before and watching EJ pour himself a drink. Melinda arrived at the police station and demanded to know why Kristen was there. JJ and Shawn told her about the gun they found in Kristen’s pocketbook. She wanted to talk to her client. Shawn and JJ needed to match the bullet with the gun. The bullet wasn’t entered into evidence yet. Shawn made some calls and found out the bullet never made it to the station and could still be at the hospital. Melinda questioned Kristen about the gun. She told Melinda that it was a family heirloom. Kristen took it away from her mother for her protection, but she didn’t put it back yet. Melinda asked her if she shot EJ, but she didn’t answer the question. Belle went to EJ’s room. She saw that he was unconscious and sat by his side. Belle kissed him and couldn’t believe what happened. EJ woke up and thought she didn’t care what happened to him. He told her not to call the nurse because it was her imagination. EJ wondered if she really cared about him. Belle admitted that she did care and didn’t want him to get shot. He reminded her that she wore a wire to entrap him. She was sitting at his bedside so he wondered if she loved him. Belle wondered why he thought she loved him. He reminded her that he got into her head, heart and soul. What more did he have to do to convince her? Belle finally admitted that she loved him. Kayla arrived to check on EJ. She saw that he was still in a coma. Since there was no one around, she allowed Belle to stay. Kayla thought people talking to him would help. They talked about wanting to find out who did it, and they talked about finding John. Kayla got a text from JJ so she left the room. JJ and Shawn met with Kayla and talked about the bullet. It turned out that the bullet was found in the post-op room and no one collected it. They decided to find out if it matched Kristen’s gun. Belle admitted to EJ that she loved EJ. Sami opened the door to EJ’s room and overheard Belle’s confession. She walked into the room to confront Belle about what she told EJ. Gabi was still thinking about being at the DiMera mansion the night EJ was shot. She opened the patio doors and her flashback was interrupted. Xander and Philip walked in the office, and Gabi wondered why they were in her office. They told her it was their office. Xander told her that everything belonged to them now.

Tate thought about texting Holly when Sophia showed up. She let him know that EJ was shot. He couldn’t believe it. Sophia assured him that his sister and everyone else in the DiMera mansion was okay. Tate thought about everyone connected to EJ. He was worried about Rachel, Johnny and Holly. She thought that could be the answer to their prayers. Tate was shocked by what she said. Sophia explained that with EJ out of the way her mother might change her mind about Johnny and Chanel adopting the baby. The pregnancy caused problems for everyone including Holly. Tate told her that Holy dumped him. They talked about it for a little while. Sophia thought they would work things out like before. He felt like it was one too many issues. Tate blamed Doug for what happened between them. Sophia talked to Amy and found out that she was willing to reconsider the adoption. Tate wanted to check on Holly before they met with her mother. Holly got Tate’s text, but Doug appeared before she could respond to him. He thanked her for letting her stay at the Kiriakis mansion, but he wasn’t sure if he should stay there. Holly assured him that she would handle her grandmother. She told him that she and Tate broke up so he wouldn’t be a problem. Doug wondered what happened between them. She told him what happened, and he realized that he was the reason they broke up. Holly assured him that he wasn’t the reason. They were dealing with a lot of problems. He apologized, but she wasn’t sure he meant that since he wanted more than friendship with her. Before Doug could respond to her, she got a text about EJ getting shot. Kate and Philip were at the pub. He was talking about Alex agreeing to keep his secret, but she was distracted. Philip checked what she was reading on her tablet and saw that EJ was shot. Kate told him that no one knew who did it. She wished they killed him. Philip asked her if she was the one who did it. She couldn’t believe he accused her of murder. Kate told him that she didn’t shoot EJ. He said she was capable of doing it. Philip reminded her about what happened with Vivian. Kate said that she shot her accidentally. He reminded her about the times she tried to kill Chloe, Sami, and Victor. She reminded him that didn’t do it. He believed her and had to leave to meet with Xander to talk about EJ’s shooting. After Philip left, Kate said that EJ got what was coming to him.

Stephanie told Alex that she was obsessed with the secret she and Sarah were keeping from Xander. Alex understood since he’s involved now too. He knew what it felt like to get duped. She wondered what he planned to do. Alex was leaning towards telling the truth. Stephanie reminded him about the risk of doing that. Xander talked to Sarah about feeling stressed about Alex, Stephanie and Philip. Sarah lied to him and said that she knew about “the affair” between Stephanie and Philip. She pretended to be shocked when Xander mentioned it to her. Sarah said that Stephanie told her because she needed someone to talk to about it. She apologized for lying to him. Xander had no trouble forgiving her for it. Philip arrived at the mansion and told Xander and Sarah that EJ was shot. He felt that things got even worse for the DiMeras. Holly was at the square and tried to reach out to her mother to tell her about EJ. She ran into Sophia at the square. Sophia heard about their breakup. She said Tate was on his way to the Kiriakis mansion. Holly was horrid that he was on his way there. Doug was getting dressed when Tate knocked on Holly’s door. Tate barged into her room and saw Doug in his underwear. Sarah saw Stephanie at the hospital. She thanked her for getting Alex to go along with the secret. Stephanie warned her that it wasn’t over yet. Kate checked her phone. She looked at the gun in her pocketbook.

Ava read the article about the DiMeras in The Spectator and thought about the things EJ did in the town. She believed what comes around goes around. There’s more than one way to get justice. She pulled the gun Melinda gave her out of her pocketbook. Ava thought about EJ and pointed the gun at the tablet. He wouldn’t get away with what he did. Johnny checked on Chanel to see if she was okay after the adoption fell through. She wasn’t feeling okay at all. Chanel wanted to get out of town for a little while. She wanted to drive to Chicago for the night. He thought that sounded great, but he wanted to see Roman. Johnny went to see Roman. He told him about the adoption falling through. Roman apologized for that and for telling him about the way he was conceived. Johnny let him know that he hated everything about it and now he hates his father. Roman told him that he would always be angry about it, but he may understand why his mother made the choices she made. He admitted to Johnny that there are times that he wants to pick up his gun and shoot EJ. Johnny was surprised that Roman had his gun behind the bar. Roman wanted to hide it from the kids. He apologized again for letting it slip that EJ raped Sami. Roman asked Johnny if he talked to Sami. He said that Sami has been avoiding him. Johnny let him know that it was a struggle to avoid killing EJ when he showed up looking for forgiveness. While Roman and Johnny were talking, Ava rushed out of the pub. Chanel showed up at the DiMera mansion to confront EJ about ruining the adoption. He wanted to get it over with. Chanel wanted to know why he ruined lives. She reminded him that he knew they were trying to adopt a child. All he had to do was stay out of trouble until after the adoption was finalized. She called him a dangerous man and that Amy had a right to worry about him being near her grandchild. EJ thought it was a good thing that Johnny cut him out of his life. She thought Johnny would have forgiven him if he didn’t work with the man who hurt his mother again. Chanel felt like he didn’t show remorse for what he did. She was about to leave when he asked her to tell Johnny that he loved him. Chanel agreed to do it. Belle arrived at the townhouse and took off the wire. Brady told her about what was going on with John. She wasn’t in the right headspace to be hopeful about the situation. He noticed she had a wire and wanted to know what was going on. Belle didn’t get a confession from EJ. Brady was impressed by what she tried to do to EJ. She filled him in on what happened with EJ. Belle told him that EJ said she would never get him out of her system. She was afraid he was right. Brady understood because he felt addicted to Kristen. He told her that he got over it and moved on. Belle could do it too. She realized that he moved on with Ava, but he told her that they broke up.

JJ told Shawn that Belle didn’t get EJ’s confession. He noticed that Shawn seemed preoccupied. Shawn told him that Jada was going to tell Rafe the truth. JJ reassured him that he didn’t do anything wrong. Shawn wasn’t sure how Rafe would take it. JJ offered to talk to Gabi about it. Rafe told Jada that he needed space from her and that he was going home alone. Jada wanted to know if he wanted her to move out. He said he needed space. Rafe walked away even though she cried out to him. Gabi was working at the table when Rafe arrived. She thought he would be out late with Jada. Rafe told her that Jada wasn’t coming home because she cheated on him. Gabi was shocked to hear it. She thought they were so happy when he came back. He told her that it happened before he got back. She told him that it wasn’t the same thing. Rafe didn’t like that she didn’t tell him about it right away and didn’t realize that something was wrong. Gabi tried to defend Jada, but it didn’t work. She told him that she didn’t recognize something was off either. The only person to blame was EJ. EJ ruined their lives, and Gabi wanted to kill him for it. Rafe warned her not to say that because she was risking her freedom. They wouldn’t do that to EJ, but Gabi wasn’t so sure about that. Jada went to Paulina’s place to talk. She admitted that she slept with Shawn. Paulina said they slept together after she was fired and reinstated so there wasn’t an issue. She would take care of it if it got out. Paulina knew something else was wrong. Jada told her about Rafe’s reaction. Paulina couldn’t believe he reacted that way. Jada felt like she should have known something was off because she was a detective and loved Rafe. Paulina told her that EJ was the person responsible for everything. Jada didn’t want to shift the blame, but Paulina believed every bad thing that happened was because of EJ. She believed that EJ was going to pay for everything he did. Jada received a text from Belle telling her that she failed to get a confession. Paulina didn’t think EJ would pay unless someone made him pay. She felt they would do the world a favor by ridding the world of EJ. Jada agreed with her. JJ went to Rafe’s place but no one was home. Shawn texted Jada to see if she was okay. She told him that she wasn’t okay. Jada grabbed for her gun. Chanel went home and saw Paulina asleep on the couch. She wanted to know if Johnny was home, but he wasn’t. Chanel hoped nothing was wrong. Roman got a phone call so Johnny went behind the bar and grabbed the gun. Ava pulled out her gun and looked around. EJ was drinking while talking to Stefano’s picture. He said he was his father’s son. Stefano was always one step ahead, and he was too. He lifted up his glass and celebrated his victory. EJ looked towards someone and asked what they were doing in his place.

Marlena talked to Belle to catch her up about John. Orpheus arrived after she finished her phone call. Marlena was shocked to see him and wondered why he wasn’t in prison. She told him about the nuclear device that’s for sale. Orpheus was glad that she understood what was happening. The plan was to get rid of her and John for good. Putting two and two together, Marlena realized that he was the reason why John was missing. He told her that he knew where John was. She demanded to know where she could find John. Orpheus thought she should be more concerned about herself and pulled a gun on her. Marlena wanted more information about John. He was tired of her and John bothering him. Orpheus was about to pull the trigger when Marlena blocked his shot with a suitcase. Steve looked through secret files and saw Orpheus’ picture. Andrew and Paul arrived after getting rid of the guards. Steve showed them the file he found about Orpheus. It turned out that Orpheus was behind the operation. The trio realized why John got mixed up with the operation. Steve read that someone infiltrated the organization and believed that John was at the facility. He wanted to find John with Paul since Andrew is ISA. Paul agreed to help Steve. Steve wanted Andrew to check on Marlena. Andrew went to check on Marlena to tell her who was behind the operation. Marlena let him know that she knew about it. She opened the door and Orpheus was unconscious. Marlena subdued him. Andrew filled her in about Steve and Paul looking for John. He planned to take Orpheus to the police station. Marlena wanted to go to the facility. Andrew warned her that it wasn’t safe, but she didn’t care. He threatened to arrest her. She called his bluff and wanted to know how to get to the facility. Jada wanted a file from Shawn. He congratulated her for getting her job back. Shawn kept his distance from her after what happened between them. She told him that they were still friends. Rafe doesn’t know what happened between them, and he never will find out. She thought the truth would hurt Rafe.

Belle got a text from EJ. He said he missed her. She became annoyed after reading his text. Jada arrived at the townhouse and asked for her help taking EJ down. Belle wanted to help, but she had to recuse herself from the case since Jada told everyone that she was with him. Jada thought she could still help with the case. She suggested that Belle wear a wire. Belle reminded her that her relationship with EJ was over. Jada believed she could change EJ’s mind about that. Belle looked at her phone and realized it was possible. Rafe was determined to make sure that EJ paid for what he did. EJ was waiting for Belle’s response to his text. Rafe snuck into the DiMera mansion. After EJ walked out of the room, Rafe planted a mic on a statue. Rafe tried to sneak out, but EJ caught him. He said he was there to see Johnny. Rafe managed to distract EJ by reminding him that he lost his son and Belle. He tried to get EJ to spill his secrets. EJ felt like he didn’t need to feel guilty about anything. He wanted Rafe to leave. Shawn was in the interrogation room with JJ. They talked about Julie’s necklace. JJ said that Julie wasn’t sure if she was pressing charges. Shawn made a comment about people getting away with their crimes. JJ realized he was talking about EJ. Shawn told him that Jada had a plan to get EJ. They segued into a conversation about Jada. Shawn let him know that Rafe didn’t know about him being with Jada. JJ wondered if Shawn had feelings for Jada. Shawn managed not to answer him but said they were friends. Jada was working in her office when Shawn arrived. He let her know that Belle was on her way to EJ’s place. Shawn let her know that JJ knew about what happened between them. He assured her that JJ could be trusted. Jada didn’t like how their secret was out. Stephanie and JJ knew about it. She didn’t want Rafe finding out from someone else. Jada realized it was time to tell Rafe the truth. Rafe arrived as she was about to call him. Jada asked Shawn to leave the room. She asked Rafe to sit down. Belle arrived at the DiMera mansion. She told EJ that she missed him too. Andrew called the ISA to take Orpheus. While he was on the phone, Orpheus disappeared. Steve searched the facility and heard a gunshot. He ran into the room and found a gunman and a man slumped on a desk. Marlena arrived after Steve. She wondered if the man was John.

Tate regretted telling Julie what Doug did. Sophia arrived at the townhouse to let him know that she was feeling hopeful about the adoption. Her mother had a few more questions to ask. If she approved of the answers, they would be set. Tate was glad, but he was distracted. He told Sophia what happened with Doug. Tate broke his promise to Holly to keep Doug’s actions a secret. Holly was spending more time with Doug than him so he got upset. He wasn’t thinking when he told Julie that Doug stole the necklace. Tate knew that Holly would be upset with him once she found out what he did. Paulina saw Doug sleeping on a bench at the park. She left her bag of food for him. Doug woke up when his phone went off. He told Holly that Julie threw him out. He let her know that it might have been easier if he got a chance to talk to Julie first. Doug thought Melinda was the one who told Julie the truth. Holly put it together that he was homeless and invited him to stay with her. Later Doug arrived at the Kiriakis mansion. Holly wanted him to get out of his wet clothes. He wasn’t sure that Maggie and Tate would be okay with him staying there. Holly planned on asking her grandmother if he could stay there. Julie was sitting in the living room when Maggie arrived. Maggie showed up with lemon bars for Julie and Doug. Julie told her that she kicked Doug out because he stole the necklace. Maggie was shocked to hear that. She wondered why Doug would do something like that, but Julie didn’t care because he was a thief. Doug betrayed her after she allowed him to stay there. He was supposed to be her miracle after losing Doug. Her heart was breaking again. Maggie wondered how she found out the truth. She told Maggie that Tate called her and told her about it. Julie wasn’t sure how he found out, but he told her the truth. She wished she could stop worrying about whether he was okay. They wondered how much Holly knew about it since she was spending time with Doug.

EJ went to Paulina and Abe’s place to see Johnny. Johnny stared at the knife on the table before he let EJ inside. EJ wanted Johnny to come home, but he told him that he was home. Johnny refused to go back to the mansion with him. He didn’t want anything from his father. Johnny yelled at him about what he did to Sami. EJ was thankful that Johnny was here, but he wished he weren’t. EJ begged him to let him talk, and he agreed to listen. He told Johnny that he earned Sami’s love. Sami saw the best in him and managed to forgive him. EJ hoped Johnny would be able to forgive him too. Johnny refused to forgive him. EJ gave up and decided to leave. Johnny stared at the knife again. He said that EJ was dead to him. Paulina and Chanel met at the town square. Chanel thanked her for letting her and Johnny stay with her. She told Paulina what happened with Johnny and EJ. Chanel hoped Amy wouldn’t find out the truth. Paulina said that Amy had no way of finding out what EJ did to Sami. Chanel was scared the adoption wouldn’t happen, but Paulina assured her that it would. Amy arrived while they were talking. She wondered why Chanel was worried. Chanel was able to cover up what she was talking about. Amy told her that she and her husband decided that they were comfortable with the adoption. She reached for her lawyer’s document and saw Leo’s article about EJ and the DiMeras. Amy read about the kidnapping charges and how Rachel disappeared. She asked Paulina and Chanel about what she read. Amy wanted to know why Rachel disappeared before she could testify against him. She continued reading about the DiMeras and wasn’t happy about EJ being around her grandchild. Chanel told her that she and Johnny weren’t living at the mansion anymore. Amy wanted to know why, but Chanel couldn’t tell her. She told Chanel the adoption was off. Amy walked away. Paulina comforted Chanel when Johnny arrived. He wanted to know what happened, and Chanel told him that his father happened. Maggie went home and talked to Holly about Doug. Holly thought Maggie told Julie the truth. Maggie let her know that Tate told her the truth. Holly was upset that Tate betrayed her. Amy went to Tate’s place and told him the adoption was off. She showed Tate and Sophia the article about the DiMeras. They had to find a suitable couple, or they had to raise the baby themselves.

JJ told Julie that she needed proof that Melinda had the necklace that was stolen from the time capsule. Leo tried to talk Melinda into giving the necklace back, but she didn’t want to do it. They threatened each other, but it didn’t change anything. Leo walked away to join Javi, and Melinda had to go to the police station. Julie had proof that Melinda had the necklace from the time capsule. While they were at the station, it turned out that Julie was basically bluffing about having proof. Melinda dismissed everything and walked out of the station. Gabi noticed how happy Javi was, but she was worried about him. Javi told her that the things people say about Leo have been said about her. Gabi conceded and told him that she wouldn’t be a fan of Leo’s. She was willing to give him a chance. JJ called Gabi and asked her to meet him at the Bistro. She left the house.

Holly and Tate were spending time together when Doug reached out to her. She let him know that he wasn’t interrupting anything. Doug filled Holly in about the necklace while Tate rolled his eyes. He suggested that he and Holly go to the park. Doug wanted to come up with a plan in case the cops wanted to talk to them. Holly agreed to meet with Doug. Doug called Julie and found out that Melinda didn’t mention his name to her. He wasn’t happy that Julie planned to find the person responsible for Melinda getting the necklace. Tate was upset that Holly was involved in the stolen necklace situation. He pointed out that Doug stole from his dead grandfather’s wife. Tate wasn’t being a jealous boyfriend. He was worried about her. After Holly left, Tate called Julie to let her know that he had information about the stole necklace.

Stephanie assured Philip that she wouldn’t say anything about the letter. Xander was listening to Stephanie and Philip, but he only heard part of the conversation. He heard Philip tell Stephanie to keep their little secret. Stephanie made peace with her decision not to tell Alex about the secret. She spotted Xander lurking around them. Philip was surprised that Xander overheard them talking. They tried to cover up what they talked about, but Xander hoped Stephanie didn’t do anything to ruin her relationship with Alex. Philip wanted Xander to go back to the office with him, but he had something to do. After Xander walked off, Stephanie asked Philip if he thought he heard them. Philip didn’t think Xander heard them. Stephanie wasn’t sure about that. Philip felt bad about lying to Xander, but he wanted to live so he wasn’t going to say anything. Stephanie was upset about what Philip did even though she’s not going to tell the truth. Joy wanted to talk to Alex at Titan. She wanted to clear the air with him. Alex assumed that she still had feelings for him. Joy didn’t tell him about the pregnancy. She told him that she was quitting. Alex assured her that she wouldn’t be a problem for him and Stephanie. Joy rubbed her stomach and said he didn’t know that. She decided to move back to New York to be with her family. Maggie showed up at the hospital and ran into Sarah. She talked to Sarah about her run in with Vivian at Statesville. Maggie wanted to talk about Victor’s letter to Philip. Sarah froze when she heard that. Vivian was happy that the letter helped Philip get back into Titan. She was also happy that she could forge a new relationship with Philip. Maggie didn’t realize that Vivian and Philip had a relationship. Sarah didn’t say much about it. She chalked it up to Vivian being delusional. Xander arrived at the hospital, and Maggie told him about her conversation with Vivian. Sarah cut Maggie off by sending her to work. She kept Maggie from talking about the forged relationship. Xander told Sarah about overhearing Philip and Stephanie keeping a secret from Alex. He told her that he knew what the secret was. Xander asked Sarah if she knew about it too. Sarah became visibly nervous.

Shane called Theresa to let her know that he had some news about Kimberly. He told her that her cancer returned. Shane wanted to tell the kids about it first. He assured her that Kimberly beat cancer before and can do it again. Theresa was devastated by the news. Shane assured her that she wouldn’t be alone. He was going back to LA to be with her. Shane said there was something she could do. Brady talked to Tate about what Marlena and Steve found out from Shane. Marlena and Steve were going to Estonia because it was John’s last known location. Tate didn’t feel hopeful about the lead, but Brady assured him that Steve was a good PI. He could find out what happened to John. Brady shifted gears and talked to him about Holly. He told him that Paulina might have gotten through to Amy, but he wasn’t sure if she’ll change her mind. Tate thought the baby was better off with Johnny and Chanel. Brady didn’t like the idea of EJ being part of his grandchild’s life. He was willing to support it if everyone was on board with it. Tate wondered if John would be disappointed in him if he came home. Brady assured him that John would come home and wouldn’t be disappointed with him. Theresa arrived at the townhouse, and she was very upset. She told them about what happened with Kimberly. Theresa decided to go to California to be with her mother. The trio share an emotional goodbye as she prepared to go to California. Xander told Sarah that Stephanie and Philip were having an affair. He thought it was the only explanation that made sense. Sarah didn’t think he should say anything about it since he was getting along with Philip. Xander didn’t like it because he was betraying a family member either way.
