I mean, whether Sidwell goes after Lucky or Lucky goes after him, I-I don’t see it ending well. I still can’t believe there are no outstanding warrants against Sidwell. I mean, come on. The CIA, FBI, WSB, and Interpol — nothing. The guy knows how to fly under the radar. Or he has some kind of pull. Anna thinks that he may be behind the fire in Sonny’s apartment. Yeah, I’ve been mulling that over myself. I mean, it’s a hell of a way to enter a town. But why target Sonny? Good question. Why Sonny? You have lived with nerdy physician types your entire life. No offense. And now you’re living with a highly experienced intelligence agent. Just say spy. A highly experienced spy who can tell when you’re lying and poke holes in any cover story. What happened is she died because somebody killed her. And that is something that I’m going to have to live with for the rest of my life. Lulu: I can imagine how frustrating that must be. You just want justice for Sam. Yeah, I do. I hope you get it. It’s not going to bring her back, but at least it’ll make me feel like I’m doing something. I’m not sure there’s anything you can do. This is all about grief, Dante. There are no easy fixes. It’s really hard losing Sam. And now I have to try and wrap my head around the fact that she was murdered. Kai’s really struggling. It’s like he doesn’t even want to think about life after football. I started to think about what you went through after you were shot, and how you had to work your way back. Well, I get why you would think of me. It’s not the same, but I kind of know what he’s feeling. Would you mind speaking to Kai and sharing what it’s like to go through rehab? I’m starting to think that telling Chase that I had a baby before would cause more heartache than it’s worth. That is very wise and mature of you. And for the most part, I have been at peace with my decision. You know, I was too young to be the mother that baby deserved. So, now I just — I need to live with the choice I made years ago and keep the baby’s existence a secret and the adoption sealed. Are you sure, sweetheart? Because I will support whatever you decide. Anna has opened an investigation into it. But I don’t have any details for you yet. The police have assured me that they’re doing everything that they can. But I am so sorry. Do you remember when they — they wheeled her off to surgery and she lifted her arm and gave the sign “I love you”? How could I ever forget? It was really beautiful. That donation was a gift of love for her. And I’m going to focus on that. ♪♪ I’m gonna tell you something that no one else knows except the people who were there. So, this is — this is just between us, okay? Jason had the chance to kill Sidwell in Somalia, and I convinced him not to. Because you’re not a killer. It’s not who you are. Yeah, but if, God forbid, Sidwell picks up where he left off, I’ll know I could have stopped him. What type of business are you in? I’m an importer. I mine and distribute gems and rare earths. Find things that people have a hard time obtaining. Now, what does that say about you? Only that I’ve seen a lot of the world in my life and that I know how to find things of value. Rare value. Sometimes I wonder if it would have been better to know if the baby was a boy or a girl. All I know is the date the child was born. Anyways, I do believe that… they are living a beautiful life. I believe that, too, sweetheart. Just know when you walked in and you saw me with Brook Lynn — I already told you, no need to explain. I know, but I want to because I think the reason I was able to talk to her is because she wasn’t the reason I wasn’t with Sam those last months. You can grieve with Brook Lynn and not feel guilty on top of it. It’s not rational, I know. Newsflash, Falconeri. Emotions aren’t rational. No. And then I have to look at, what if you find the killer, and then you decide to take the law into your own hands? You really think I would do something like that? I don’t know. It’s such a big loss, and here I am, just swooping in. You’re entitled to be here. Sam was, too. But she can’t be now. And you can. You know, sweetheart, when we were afraid that we were going to lose you, Dante practically camped out by your bedside. He fought like hell for you. I know he did. Yeah. Lulu, I know from my own life that it is possible to love two people at the same time. Dante loves you. Absolutely. And maybe not in the same way that you love him right now. But there is definitely a place in his heart for you. I know it’s not rational, but… I feel like it’s — I feel like it’s my fault Sam died. And if I feel that way, then… Maybe Dante does, too? You are not stupid. And you don’t even know how rehab will turn out before you even start it. My first orthopedist told me to my face that I should never play another snap of football. So yeah, I don’t really feel like figuring out rehab right now. Okay, I can — No, no. As for classes, I don’t even know if I want to go back to school, okay? Kai? Look. Even if you never play football again, it has still given you an amazing opportunity. You have a scholarship that most people would kill for, and PCU is an amazing school — Trina, I know you think you’re helping, but you are not. When I pitched the Esplanade to McConkey, I was acting on behalf of my company, Aurora. And now that I’m a congressman, I’m acting on behalf of my constituents. Then why are you sabotaging a project that could give jobs to those constituents? Because the environmental report came back with a lot of concerns, and we just have to pause to reevaluate. Projects like this one die in committee because some House member has an axe to grind. It’s Aurora’s project, right? And as CEO of Aurora, it’s really up to you to clear up any issues before Congress can release funding. Aurora will be just fine if the Esplanade doesn’t happen. Well, there you have it. But you, on the other hand, will be screwing over Jordan, your constituents, and the project that carries the name of the man who gave you his seat in Congress in the first place. You know what, Curtis? You seem a little tense. I say you and I, we work it out in the ring. Well, as much as I hate to admit it, Ric did make a couple of good points. It’s a matter of public record that the fire in your penthouse was deliberately set. Avery was at Carly’s, so — Which is the only reason that you still have custody. For Sam to die like that, in a hospital bed, confined, unable to fight back, when you know that if she could get up, she would have been fighting tooth and nail. Damn straight she would. Sam was in that bed because of me, and she’s gone because of me. And I don’t know how to live with that. How can I not feel responsible for Sam’s death? The only reason she was in that bed was because of me. It’s very human to feel like it’s your fault, but it’s also completely untrue. Lulu, you are not responsible for Sam’s death. There is one person who is. And that’s the murderer. I know that. It’s just so hard to silence that voice that keeps telling me that it was my fault. And then when I think about how Dante must see me, that voice just booms. Because Dante is really grieving right now. But you can’t assume that you know how he feels. But you could ask. Just like that? With the connection that the two of you have? Yeah. Just like that. Now, it may not be the best time to express the full breadth of your feelings for Dante. No kidding. I mean, if we want to have a baby, there are things we can do to make it happen. Oh, you mean something like this? ♪♪ According to these results… you can’t father a child. I’m so sorry. I can’t get you pregnant. ♪♪ I was terrified this whole time that the problem was me. And now I almost wish it was. Oh, you don’t mean that. His face, Ma… Yeah. When Chase told me he couldn’t have kids, he was devastated. Feeling like he was letting me down. I know it’s awful. The whole thing is awful, Ma. Chase will never get to hold his own baby. He’ll never get to raise his own child. I know there are a lot of different ways to have a family, But you were banking on the conventional one. I get it. Chase is mourning the life he imagined for us. I hate this for Chase. I know how much he was looking forward to becoming a father. I know it’s not exactly the same, but I know what he’s feeling. That pain and — and anguish. I felt both those things when I gave my baby up. You were grieving, too. I want him to know that… so that Chase doesn’t feel so alone. Oh, good. You’re here. Sam has done so much for my family, and I hate the fact that I can’t thank her, or at the very least, repay her. But whoever gave Dex the digitalis, they did the same thing to Michael. But Michael survived. Right, because his doctor knew about these other cases. So, he took a chance and gave Michael the antidote. And it worked. Yeah, it’s just Dex and Sam weren’t that lucky. For the record, I’m not surprised you still love Dante. You knew with Valentin by your side, you’d look that much more capable. You know what’s funny? I was far less ruthless back then than I am now. I don’t think I ever really saw him that way. How did you see him? As an outsider who needed me as much as I needed him. We became true friends in a world where they were hard to come by. That’s sweet. In a strange, twisted way. Yeah. It was.
