THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!
Got your voicemail. Is there a problem with the baby? No, no. T The baby is fine. I called because the problem is with…you. Hey. Kai. Come on in. Thank you for seeing me on short notice. Anytime. What can I do for you? I need your opinion on something. Congressman Quartermaine offered me an incredible opportunity. What does Congressman Cain want you to do now? Nothing. Actually. Okay? This is about what he can do for me. We had a deal! Excuse me. You can’t just barge into my office like that. And you didn’t hold up your end of it! I certainly did! I stood right next to you at that press conference. I took the pictures. I smiled. Yeah, then I did my part, Drew! Then Curtis went ahead and undermined me by calling me Congressman Cain in all of the Aurora media coverage. Well, you’re gonna have to talk to Monica about that one. No, no Because Curtis is your husband, I got to deal with you, so I’m talking to you about it! You better get him under control, or I will blow your cushy little life right out of the water. It’s nice to see you, Trina. I appreciate you meeting with me. Yeah. We haven’t spoken since Ava’s trial. Kristina’s not trying to appeal the ruling, is she? No. No, no. Nothing like that. I need your help with an entirely different matter. Once the symposium was over in Miami, I thought I’d never see you again. H How can you possibly be here in Port Charles? I’m not stalking you, if that’s what you’re thinking. Isn’t that what a stalker would say? Probably. [ Both chuckle ] But it’s more a question of fate. So why does fate want you in my neck of the woods? [ Chuckles ] Fancy seeing you here. Ms. Jacks! Hi. Am I…interrupting? We have a problem. Well, I don’t see why. Sonny has underworld connections. The WSB has interests That’s not the problem. You just told me that your chat with Sonny had nothing to do with me, that he wasn’t telling you to stay away from me. I don’t believe you. Look, if you don’t want to share Bureau business with me, that’s fine. But don’t lie to me, Jack. You will never be in a position to tell me what to do again. Ever! Not after the spectacular way you wrecked our family! [ Knock on door ] Excuse me. Hello. Sorry to show up unannounced. I figure you know who I am. Of course. Sonny Corinthos. Well, Mr. Sidwell… I think it’s time we met. There’s this cutting edge operation that can fix my cracked spine. And I never knew about it, but Drew gave me some information about a doctor who’s performed the operation on a few athletes and had success. Well, I know from experience that some of these cutting edge procedures are legit and can be successful. Okay. So it’s definitely worth exploring, right? But there’s no way I can get an appointment to even meet with the doctor. And that’s where Drew comes in. Yes. Okay? He’s willing to make the arrangements on my behalf. And if the doctor says I’m a candidate for the surgery, Drew offered to cover the cost. Drew’s got plenty of money and connections, and as soon as they’re tapped… his job is done, okay? You’re the one that’s gotta go through the surgery and live with the outcome. So what matters is that you’re okay with it. I mean, I’m thinking about it. Okay? This could give me the chance to play football again. I can see how much this matters to you. More than anything. But, also, it is somewhat risky. And there’s still the possibility of an injury. And I don’t have a lot of time to decide. Is Drew pressuring you into this? No, no, not at all. It’s… It’s just the procedure’s chances of success go up the sooner it’s performed after the initial injury. What do you think I should do? First of all, I had absolutely nothing to do with Monica and Tracy’s decision to revoke your name. And, secondly, I had no idea what Curtis’ plans were for Aurora Media. Well, from now on, you make it your job to know. How? Should I get a crystal ball? Hack a computer? Bug a phone? Whatever it takes. So you’re asking me to spy on my husband now. No. I’m asking you to be proactive. If Curtis is working on something that could negatively affect me, you need to tell me about it so I can stop it. You got it? Curtis is a smart man. He’s gonna know. He’s gonna know that something is up. Make sure he doesn’t. Otherwise, he’s gonna know a whole lot of other stuff that you’d rather he didn’t. We clear? We are. [ Door opens ] She’s all yours. This a bad time? I’m actually in Port Charles for a job interview. And guess whose photo I saw on a partner’s desk as I was leaving the office. Which law firm? How many law firms is your photo in? [ Chuckles ] Miller and Davis. Oh! Okay. Did you meet with Alexis? I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting with Ms. Davis yet. I only had an interview with Ms. Miller. And I think it went well. I still need to meet with Ms. Davis before an offer can be made. So there’s a very real possibility that you could be moving here. I think there is. In that case, um… I have a confession to make. You’re not interrupting at all. You want to join me? I was just asking if I could steal this gentleman’s sugar. Oh. It’s all yours. Thank you. Sorry. I definitely interrupted. What do you mean? She was hitting on you. Oh, the old “You have sugar, I need sugar” trick? Yeah. No. [ Chuckles ] What are you doing here? I thought you had…class. Yeah. It’s funny. I did. Um, but then my professor, he wasn’t feeling well, so he canceled last minute. And I was told I had the day off. I thought I’d explore the area. Mhm. You just wound up here? Well, no, actually. I’ve seen this place’s logo on all of your to go cups. I figured the coffee must be pretty good. You come here a lot. Must be a big fan? I am. That’s very observant of you, Jacks. Hm. [Hushed] You’re shaping up to be a halfway decent agent. Carly, I know that you are a woman that is hard to forget and even harder to get over, I would imagine. But why are you so sure that Sonny, what, threatened me to leave you alone or else? Because it’s happened many times before. I know Sonny. We have kids. He feels like he has a say in my life. Well, to Sonny’s credit, he didn’t bring up your name even once. Really? I swear. It It was WSB business. Okay. But I meant what I said before. You know, secrets might be a factor in our relationship, but I can’t tolerate lies. I have to be able to trust you, Jack. That’s fine. I want you to. But you do have to understand that there are certain subjects that I cannot discuss with you. And if our worlds happen to intersect and it involves my work, for your own safety, I cannot tell you the truth. So that WSB business you were talking about with Sonny, I can’t ask you about that. You can ask, but you have to know that my answer will be a lie. Or a half truth at best. Now, is that something you can live with? Um, you got company? The women from Deception were here. We were celebrating going into business together. Since when? We just sealed the deal. And since you’re an investor in Deception, I guess you’re in business with me, as well. Shall I pour you a glass, give you the details? No, thanks. I’ll talk to Lucy later. I’m here on other business. And what other business is that? A few months ago, somebody, uh, firebombed my penthouse, and my son was badly injured. I’ve heard. It’s a terrible tragedy. Yeah, right around the time that you showed up in Port Charles. Well, I hope that you don’t think that I was involved. At first I didn’t, but then some news came to light, and it forced me to reconsider the possibility. Felicia was asking questions, and it made me realize that I might need you to take more of an active role in my baby’s life. I already told you I would. But did you really think through what that meant? Because I thought I did. And it turns out that I glossed over a few things. [ Exhales sharply ] Okay. What, uh What are you talking about, exactly? Well, the birth plan. Felicia asked if you would be participating. Then she asked if you would be supplying your medical information and if your name will be on the birth certificate once the baby is born. Yeah. I’m fine with all that. You do know that you would be committing fraud if we list you as the father, right? I’ve done worse. Right. Yeah. I mean, I guess I have, too. [Groans] This is just so much more complicated than I thought it was gonna be. Why don’t we, uh Why don’t we focus on the birth certificate once the baby’s born? Okay? Okay. You know, this would have been so much easier if I had just left town like I wanted to. But Michael wanted me to stay, so I stayed. He wants to be around his kid, even if it’s from a distance. But that’s the problem. It’s his kid! If Willow finds out that I got pregnant while they were still married, she’s gonna use it to get full custody of Willy and Amelia! Which is why I’m pretending to be the father. But for how long? Months? Years? I wanted to meet with you because I had some questions about what went down at the Quartermaine estate yesterday. Oh, you mean when the city tried to bulldoze down an entire family’s resting place. Oh. I’m more focused on Emma Scorpio Drake’s actions that day. I know she’s a friend, but I also know from experience that you tell the truth, even when it doesn’t benefit your friends. Look, I don’t know what more I can tell you. I I live streamed the whole thing. Everything that happened was right there. Why are you so interested in Emma? The last I heard, her charges got dropped. Those specific charges were, but while processing her arrest, some troubling things came up in her record. She’s never said anything about her record. What about her previous college? Has she talked about why she was expelled? No. But with all due respect, why is a New York ADA so concerned about what happened all the way across the country? What could you need to confess? Well, first off, I still want to replace your shirt. Um… But what happened… that’s not me. I don’t get drunk and pick up guys at a bar. It’s not like we slept together. I just… Random hookups aren’t my thing. Mine either. But on the flip side, I’m not ready for a huge commitment, so if you are moving here for me Let Let me stop you before you embarrass us both. I reached out because I was surprised and pleased to see that you live here. I really enjoyed spending time with you that night. And, yes, I find you attractive. Really? Really. But I’m not plotting to get you into bed or try to make you my husband. [ Chuckles ] I just thought we could get to know each other better. Especially if I get that job. I swear. I am normally not this neurotic. It’s just I’m still very embarrassed by what happened. [ Stammers ] You were so kind to me, and I just wanted a chance to get to know you better. Well, now’s your chance. What was that all about? What do you want, Brad? A promotion and a four day work week would be nice. Yeah. No. It would. It’s not gonna happen. Get out. W I thought we were cool. You know, since I took care of certain “things”? Certain things? So the certain things that you took care of, they wound up in Drew’s possession. Why don’t you go and tell me how much money you got from that? What? Go ahead. Nothing! He didn’t get anything from me, I swear! Well, then how does he have it?! How does he have the very thing that you promised to destroy, Brad? I [ Groans ] It must have been my Aunt Selina. I’m sorry. What? So not only did you keep the evidence, but you gave it to your Mobbed up aunt? Wow, Brad. You are unbelievable. [ Scoffs ] You know what? Well, at least our little arrangement is now null and void. Wha I I don’t know. I can always just get back in the system and get another copy. No. I’m sorry. You can’t. Because I already took care of that. The only thing for us to take care of now is ironing out your severance. Hey, man, I’m the last person to tell you not to take this one in a million shot. I did. And it paid off. And how did you make the decision to just go for it? I trusted my wife. She provided the miracle. And it doesn’t hurt that she’s a brilliant doctor. But Drew isn’t. So before you get your hopes up, my advice would be to get your procedure medically vetted. Now, you could ask Portia. She’ll give you an honest assessment. Okay. A And if she says it’s legit… Well, then, um, you got a tough choice to make. Mmm! I can see why you like it here. The coffee is great, and I’m sure the croissants are good, too. Good coffee doesn’t necessarily mean good croissants, but… Mhm. Except the past four customers have all ordered one. So they must be pretty good. Alright. You can give your keen observational skills a rest. You’re off the clock. I’m never off the clock. Well, nobody likes a suck up. Here’s my observation. You played volleyball, right? Given how adaptable and driven you are, I’m guessing you were an outside hitter. I was. You played? I was a setter for my college team. But I had to stop because I was…too competitive. Ah, well, I have heard that one before. From my best friend, Trina, and my brother Michael. You must really miss them. I do. Not enough to quit. Just checkin’. I’m gonna snag us some croissants before they’re gone. I don’t want your security needs to be a blanket excuse for you to deceive me whenever it suits you. And I don’t want your job to make it so you don’t have to be accountable for yourself. Look, I know. I know I’m asking for a lot of leeway here. But there is something that I can tell you. I’m never gonna manipulate you or use you or intentionally hurt you, not ever. If you give me your trust, I promise I will not take advantage of it. I mean, that’s a big “if,” right? I just feel like the odds of my heart getting broken by you are pretty good here. You got to understand. I got a lot on the line here, too. I mean, I I am breaking the cardinal rule of the WSB. Never to form emotional attachments. Emotional attachments? Yeah. But with you… I am helpless. Wow. We’ve gotten ourselves into quite a mess here, huh? So what do you want to do about it? What new information have you discovered? The person who planted the device is a hired hitter. Wha Correction. Was a hired hitter. Before I came here, somebody informed me that he was expired. Huh. What a coincidence. Does the name Soliski ring any bells for you? Not a one. That’s kind of interesting because, you know, he worked all over the world. Including Africa. Isn’t that where you based your operation? Yes, yes. Yeah? I’m sure Mr. Morgan told you all about my compound in Somalia. Right. Um… But Africa is a very big continent with a very large population. And the odds of me being connected to any specific person also doing business there, well, they’re very low. I’m a cautious man. I don’t like coincidences. Mr. Corinthos… you seem to think that I want to get rid of you. No. The truth is… I want the exact opposite. I’m only concerned with Emma’s legal problems because of who her grandmother is. Police Commissioner Devane is in a position of civic trust. If she’s using her influence to shield her granddaughter’s wrongdoings, that merits investigation. Well, it sounds like to me then you have an issue with Anna Devane, not Emma. And I have no connection with Anna, so I can’t help you. I completely understand. Thank you for meeting with me. Yeah. Well, it took me a long time to settle on medicine, but once I did, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I worked for a while in Boston, but then when there was an opening at General Hospital, I was more than happy to make the move. I spent a few years in Manhattan working at this big, prestigious law firm. [Sighs] The long hours ground me down. My tennis game went to hell, and so did my love life. Mhm! I take it you’ve never been married? Nope. [ Chuckles ] But speaking of marriage, how are things with you and your ex husband? Please, please, please. You can’t fire me, Dr. Robinson. Really? After the way that you treated me? No. I owe you no favors. I’m sorry! Please! Just give me another chance! [ Groans ] [ Knock on door ] Yes? Kai: Dr. Robinson, it’s Kai Taylor! Oh! Come in! Hey, Dr. Robinson. Oh, I hope I’m not interrupting. You kind of are. You’re not interrupting. Bye, Brad. We’re done? Yes. But don’t go far. We have a lot to discuss. Okay. I’ll just be in the lab doing work that saves lives. Bye, Brad. Hey. Come on in. Have a seat. How can I help you? Well, I’ve been offered a chance at having experimental surgery that might make it possible for me to play football again. But I wanted a second opinion, so Curtis suggested I come talk to you. Oh, well, I’m happy to help you. I want to give my baby the best life possible, but how can I do that when I’m starting off by lying to their whole family? I love Felicia, and I love my family. I know, I know, but we got to take this just one step at a time. Especially since Michael’s not here. [ Sighs ] And we still don’t know when he will be. Yeah. All I know is that, uh, he’s he’s putting in the work and he’s getting better. All you got to do is stay the course until he gets back. I’m trying. You’re doing great. If it gets to be too much, you know, I’m right here. I can help. Michael is really lucky to have you. You’re, like, the greatest uncle ever. I don’t I don’t know about that. But I promised Michael I’d be here. And there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him. So, uh, for the foreseeable future… …you and I are in this together. I’ve done business all over the world, and in my experience, if you want to operate out of any port, you need a stable ecosystem. Now, will there be criminal elements? Always. But as long as they are contained, there’s peace. And my research has taught me that you are very good at maintaining the peace. So, you see, your continued presence is crucial to my success. You expect me to believe that you’re gonna run a legitimate business? [ Laughs ] Yes. Yes, I do. Right. I don’t see you as a rival. I see you as someone who will maintain the status quo so my business can thrive. Obviously, you’re a man of great wealth, but it’s hard for me to imagine that you you got that by sticking with the status quo. I can understand your reluctance to trust me. Perhaps in a gesture of good faith, I can aid you in finding justice for your son Michael. I have a son, so I know what you’re going through. Allow me to use my resources to find the culprit. No, thank you. I’ll handle it. I’m sure. But if there’s anything you need… I’ll let you know. Good luck with your business dealings. Thank you. As long as they don’t interfere with mine. I can live with not knowing the things you can’t tell me. Well, I can live with the risk to my well being if that means I have any chance of a future with you. To hell with doing the smart thing. Hmm. Ohh, I would love to take this up to my room, but I have somewhere I have to be. Where? Just kidding! Oh! Uh [ Laughs ] Excuse me. Thanks for your help. Mm hmm. Last one. You should have it. That’s fine. I insist. We could have each had one if I hadn’t been so clumsy. Yeah. You’re not usually such a klutz. Guess we all have our moments. Yeah, I guess so. What’s so urgent? Usually you take your shots at me in print, so why the need for a face to face? You need to leave Kai Taylor alone. He’s vulnerable, and he doesn’t need you messing with his head, getting his hopes up for what may not happen. What are you talking about? Kai Taylor had football ripped away from him, and since then, he’s been trying to put his life and his sense of self back together. And here you come, swooping in all cavalierly, giving him a chance at the impossible. It’s not impossible. The success rate of the procedure is actually very high. I thought you, of all people, would appreciate a long shot finally paying off. What if the procedure doesn’t work out for him? He is going to have to recover from another surgery, and it will wreck him again! There are no guarantees. You know that. Tell that to the college kid whose dreams are riding on that long shot. And if the procedure doesn’t work out for Kai and he’s out of football for good, I’m guessing the “benevolent godfather” act will disappear. Am I right? Portia: You’re right. This is a very cutting edge procedure. It’s not my area of expertise, but I’m more than happy to look into it and do some research for you. Thank you, Dr. Robinson. You know, that that’d make me feel a lot better. It’s my pleasure. How did you hear about it? Was it your coach or physical therapist? No. Congressman Quartermaine. He even offered to pay for the surgery, since my insurance won’t cover it. I see. Um, did you talk to your parents about this? Because your parents would need to know about it, as well. Not yet. I wanted to wait till I knew the procedure was a legitimate possibility. Okay, well, I’ll let you know what I find out. Thank you, Dr. Robinson. I really do appreciate this. I’ve been avoiding my ex since I got back. I thought you said you two worked together. Good memory. Yeah. We do. And I know my luck will run out at some point and we will run into each other. It does seem kind of hard to avoid. But in the meantime, I have to clean up this big mess that he made. What kind of mess? I’m pretty sure I told you that he manipulated his way into that symposium. Yes. you did. Well, without getting into details, he crossed a line, and I have to make things right for the person he wronged. Why is that your responsibility? I don’t know. Guilt? But once I take care of that, I can finally put him behind me. Hmm. Well… good luck with that. Hey. Hey. [ Chuckles ] How did we start talking about me again? I want to hear about you. I’m afraid that’ll have to wait till another time. I really do have a meeting. But I’ll be in town for a few more days. So if you want to know more about me, you’ll have to agree to see me again. Well… I’d like that a lot. Who was that? I can see why these are such a hit. Have the other half. I’m good. Besides, I have to get back to work. Oh. Okay. Well… thanks for the pastry. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon off. Hm. Well? Alright. Let’s forget about Marco for a second Marco? He is cute. Well, I noticed that someone didn’t come home last night. What, are you checking up on me? We live in the same house. I don’t need to “check up.” I realize that, but Donna was with Sonny, and you are a grown man, so I thought you’d be okay at home without me. And I would have been, if you would have given me the common courtesy to let me know that you had plans. As it was, yeah, I was I was worried. Okay. Sorry. It must have slipped my mind. Or you just didn’t want me to know that you’d be with Jack Brennan. Can you blame me? Everyone and their cat has lectured me about it. And from what I noticed at your table, it seems like you decided not to listen to any of it. Well, after careful consideration, which I did, I decided to let things play out. Well, you should know that Jason came and visited me at work today. He’s worried about you. And you know he is not one to panic easily. Yeah. I know. So feel free to ignore me, but please take his concerns seriously. Okay. I am so sick of everyone and their concerns! It’s not gonna change my mind about Jack, so please don’t fight me on this. I I won’t. But… I have a feeling that Jason won’t back down so easily. I don’t know what little game you’re playing. But Sonny’s smart. He’s dangerous. You don’t want him as an enemy. It’s impolite to eavesdrop. I hope you meant every word you said. I hope you don’t have any designs on Sonny’s territory, because I would strongly encourage you to reconsider. Are you saying that for my safety or for your own? Oh, no. I’m not in any danger. Sonny and I are friends. [ Laughs ] Yeah. Then why’d you scurry off when he arrived? Could it be that he doesn’t know that I’m your ex husband any more than your cohorts at Deception do, hmm? Could that be the reason? By keeping your mouth shut, Natalia, you’ve already betrayed everyone. So your threat to out me is ridiculous. You’d only be hurting yourself. It might be worth it. Because Sonny and those women should know how dangerous you are. Well, that wouldn’t be good for your health. Thank you for coming. To be perfectly honest, I’m surprised you accepted my invitation. Well, I was already in the building looking for Lucy Coe, and I got the text that wanted to have a sit down with me. Lucy is not in her office, so here I am. Well, you must not have told Diane Miller. If you had, you wouldn’t be sitting here alone. Well, you know, you worked so hard at trying to get Ava convicted that I thought I’d have a conversation with you this time. For the record, I am very sorry I couldn’t get justice for Kristina and your granddaughter. You did the best you could. I’m somewhat new to Port Charles, so I had to do my due diligence in preparation for that case, and I noticed something… interesting. Yeah? What’s that? That despite you having been the subject of multiple investigations, trials, and even some convictions, you’ve managed to do quite well for yourself. You’ve even closely aligned yourself with the city’s most prominent leaders, including the Mayor and the Police Commissioner. What can I say? People like me. Even when associating with someone like you could hurt their careers? That’s, um… harder to understand. True friendship rises above, uh, you know, rumors and innuendos. [ Chuckles ] That’s it, huh? Let me give you a friendly piece of advice, Ms. Turner. If you’re fishing for something… cut bait. Why are you here? You had the afternoon off. Yeah, I did. Um… But there was something that I wanted to ask you. Go ahead. I [ Door opens ] Afternoon, all. Vaughn: Didn’t know you were coming today. Well, I wanted an update on Ms. Jacks’ progress. Her progress is good. She’s working hard and consistently passed all of her tests. Does this mean… Ms. Jacks is ready to graduate. And I’m ready to get back in the field. That’s a conversation for another time. I didn’t sign up to be a trainer. I want to be back in the field. Watch yourself. Ever since Romania, we can’t afford to have you out there. It’s gonna be a long time before you’re doing anything but training recruits. You get me? Please. Don’t send me back to my Aunt Selina. I need this job more than you know. Fine. I’ll let you stay. But only because I might need your help in the future. Great. I I’m here to help. Love helping. If I call on you, you better come through. Whatever you need. Whenever you need it. I promise. You better mean it, Brad. Because from now on, I own your ass. I am literally just trying to help him. Don’t let your grudge against me potentially rob that young man of a life changing opportunity. I’m trying to protect him from being used by you. I’m not the problem here, Curtis! You are. [ Knock on door ] Oh, my gosh. Hi. What a pleasant surprise. Come in. I needed to tell you something. Trina: Okay. What? It’s a long shot, but there may be a way for me to play football again. ADA Turner: I’m not fishing. I just thought it would be smart to get to know you better, Mr. Corinthos. I don’t think your bosses would like that. No one tells me what to do. I guess we have that in common. Well, I hope I satisfied your curiosity. Uh, I actually still have some questions. I’m all out of answers. See you next time… Ms. Turner. Alright, well, I should go to the kitchen and start dinner. Whoa! Are you okay? The baby just kicked for the first time! [ Laughs ] You were there when the baby moved the first time, too. Guess I have good timing. [ Laughs ] You want in on the action, Dad? Mnh. I don’t know. [ Laughs ] Come on! [ Chuckles ] Wow. That That was a strong kick. [ Laughs ] Are you threatening me, Jenz? [ Scoffs ] [ Knock on door ] Excuse me. Hey, Dad. Sorry I’m late. Come on in. Mom. What are you doing here? I believe we have an understanding now, don’t we? Yes, sir. We do. I’ll give you and Ms. Jacks some privacy to discuss next steps. Vaughn, wait! Um, Agent Brennan, there’s something you should know. Earlier today, I saw Vaughn receive a suspicious drop off. At first, I thought that it was maybe a mission sanctioned by the WSB, but now I’m not so sure.
