Days of Our Lives Update

Sarah is at the hospital when she gets an alert on her phone that Sophia is a missing person. EJ walks by, so Sarah asks if he has a minute.

Tate and Holly remain in the town square and decide to go to the Brady Pub to brainstorm ideas for the documentary. Leo and Javi come through with Tesoro. Javi tells them that they just saw the missing persons alert for Sophia and asks if they have any idea what happened. Holly and Tate reveal that Tesoro is Sophia’s baby which shocks Leo and Javi. Leo asks if that means Tesoro is Tate’s baby too. Tate responds that’s what he thought until yesterday.

Johnny walks past the Brady Pub as Amy comes out from the Pub and slaps him. Johnny asks what the hell that was for. Amy asks if she really has to explain, arguing that Sophia has run away from home all because of accusations of things that her daughter would never do. Amy adds that if she did any of those things, it’s because Johnny pushed her over the edge.

In the Pub, Brady finishes a call with Roman and tells Steve that Roman mentioned one vacant room upstairs where Sophia could be hiding out and Roman told him where to find the keys.

Tate and Holly tell Javi and Leo about Sophia claiming to give the baby up for adoption in Chicago, when he was here the whole time. Leo can’t believe the lengths Sophia went to prevent Johnny and Chanel from adopting and says it’s no wonder she ran away, remarking that he would skip town too if all of his lies were being exposed left and right. Leo says now they know why Johnny and Chanel were so upset when they ran in to them yesterday.

Steve and Brady go to the vacant room above the Pub. Steve knocks and asks if anyone is in there but there’s no response. Brady announces they have a key, so if she doesn’t open then they are coming in.

Holly and Tate talk about feeling so bad for Johnny and Chanel. Tate says they want to find Sophia to get answers as to why she did all of this, but Johnny and Chanel need to find her or else they might not be able to adopt Tesoro. Javi hopes Sophia is found because they all need answers. Tate mentions that he and Holly were heading to the Pub for breakfast and invites Leo and Javi to join them, but Leo says they have already eaten. Tate says they will catch them later then as he and Holly walk away. Javi reminds Leo of when Amy said that Tesoro reminded her of her own son as a baby. Leo says now they know why. Leo thought Sophia was pregnant when they got Tesoro. Javi says she seemed to be, so when she’s found, she’ll have a lot of explaining to do. Chanel comes over from the bakery and says that’s if she is found.

Brady and Steve enter the vacant room to find Sophia. Sophia questions them breaking and entering in to her room. Brady informs her that Roman gave him the key. Sophia asks if opening rooms is his new hobby. Steve says they just wanted to make sure she’s okay because there are a lot of people worried about her.

Johnny understands Amy is upset, but says she needs to understand that Sophia did some despicable things to he and Chanel. Amy responds that what’s despicable is going around telling salacious lies about an 18 year old girl. Amy thought that would be below Johnny, but says she knows his family. Amy warns Johnny to take back everything he’s said about her daughter before she and her husband take him to court. Amy says she’s going to find her daughter and starts to walk away but Johnny stops her and says it looks like somebody already found her as he points in through the window of the Pub, where Steve and Brady have brought Sophia downstairs.

EJ tells Sarah that he has no time to chat as he’s late for a meeting. Sarah remarks that lateness seems to be a running theme here as she ordered some tests for a patient three days ago and they still haven’t arrived. EJ says they are having trouble getting qualified staff on board which Sarah blames EJ for not paying enough. EJ tells Sarah that he respects her and she’s always done excellent work, but says the salaries of the staff are none of her concern. Sarah says it is her concern when it affects patient care and asks if EJ would rather wait until someone dies and then he’ll have to explain to the press why he was more concerned with money than patients health. EJ agrees to look in to it but Sarah questions if he actually will. EJ states that he’s answered her question and any further inquiry will be considered insubordination, reminding her that she works for him. Sarah responds that his scare tactics might have worked at DiMera Enterprises but no one at the hospital will be willing to sacrifice patients for money. EJ argues against that while Sarah says the hospital is filled with good, hard working people. Sarah warns EJ to remember who keeps the hospital running. EJ asks what if he doesn’t and if she will sic her husband on him.

Javi tells Chanel that they just heard about the Sophia fiasco and they are so sorry. Chanel hopes Sophia resurfaces soon before she and Johnny lose their chance to adopt Tesoro. Chanel then looks in on Tesoro in his stroller and tells him that she and Johnny are fighting really hard to become his parents and they are going to keep fighting because he is so worth it. Javi says it will be really hard to give Tesoro up, but there’s no one they’d rather give him up to than Chanel and Johnny. Chanel assures that no matter what happens, Tesoro has been so lucky to have them taking care of him for all this time. Chanel then gets a text from Johnny that Sophia was found at the Pub, so she rushes off as Leo and Javi follow out.

Amy rushes in to the Pub and hugs Sophia, thankful that she’s alright as Johnny enters behind her. Steve tells Brady that he will let him take it from here and exits the Pub. Amy asks Sophia where she has been as they’ve all been worried sick. Brady reveals that she was hiding out in the vacant room upstairs. Amy questions Sophia being there all night and tells her that everyone is saying horrible things about her but they have to be lies. Amy says there is no way the firehouse baby is her baby. Sophia tells Amy that she doesn’t know anything about her and that she’s made up a fictional version of her in her head. Sophia adds that if Amy hadn’t made her feel like she had no control over her life and body, then she never would have had to give birth in her bedroom all alone which shocks Amy. Sophia tells her that’s what happened and after her baby was born, she was so scared and didn’t know where to go or what to do, but she knew she was not going to let Amy or Tate know that she had the baby or else, she would’ve been forced to raise a child that she didn’t even want. Tate tries to say he never would have but Sophia cuts him off. Sophia screams at Johnny that none of this would’ve happened if he hadn’t backed out of the adoption. Sophia cries that she was so scared but she knew she wouldn’t be able to be a parent to the baby, so she did the only thing she could do and took him to the firehouse and left him there.

Sarah tells EJ that this is between them so he can leave her husband out of it. EJ guesses he hit a nerve. EJ remarks that with all their back and forth, it’s been a task keeping up with her emotions. EJ mocks Sarah being back with Xander while Sarah remarks that a sock puppet would be better in charge of the hospital than Xander. EJ tells her that if Xander had been a loyal spouse and she backed him when it counted, then maybe he would’ve won the board’s vote and she’d be whining to him instead. Sarah asks how dare he.

Leo and Javi stop outside the Pub with Tesoro. Javi doesn’t think it’s a good idea to go in as it’s not really their business. Leo questions how it’s not when Tesoro is their kid for now and what’s going on in there affects him so it is their business. Javi then agrees. Leo knows they haven’t spoken much lately about how hard it’s going to be to part with Tesoro and now that it’s getting closer to reality, he feels like he’s living in denial and pretending like he’ll be with them forever. Javi admits he’s been pretending too. Leo tells Javi that when the time comes that they have to stop pretending, he will be even more grateful that Javi is in his life. Javi feels the same because he knows they will get through it together as they hug.

Amy comments on what Sophia has been through. Tate questions Sophia just making up the whole Chicago thing and pretending to be pregnant after that. Holly demands Sophia admit that she took those photos of her and sent them to Johnny. Holly asks if Tate’s not the father, Brady asks if she’s been lying the whole time, while Chanel adds that they just want her to tell them the truth. Leo and Javi then enter the Pub with Tesoro. Amy asks if this is really her grandson. Sophia breaks down crying as she screams that she can’t take this anymore and faints. Javi rushes to check on her. Chanel suggests calling 911 while Javi calls for everyone to back off and let her breathe. Amy questions why Sophia isn’t answering them.

EJ tells Sarah that he is doing his damndest to cultivate a world class hospital but difficult decisions have to be made, such as tightening their belt to fund the free clinic. Sarah doesn’t want to offer substandard care to all of their patients. Sarah asks if EJ agrees that everyone deserves the highest standard of care. EJ responds that he does and thanks to caring doctors like her, they will get exactly that. EJ then adds that he has a favor to ask of Sarah since he’s planning a gala to celebrate the opening of the clinic. EJ asks if Sarah would be a featured speaker because she’s a well-respected doctor and the clinic does bear her Grandfather’s name so it’s only fitting that she say a few words. Sarah agrees, saying she’d do anything to honor the legacy of her Grandfather. EJ says he’ll be in touch and walks away.

Leo brings Tesoro to the town square and sits with him, commenting on the drama with Sophia. Leo says luckily Javi was there to swoop in and do his thing. Leo hopes that Sophia will be okay.

Amy and Brady bring Sophia to Sarah at the hospital. Amy asks what is wrong with her daughter. Sarah says she will take Sophia to examine her and give them an update as soon as she has one.

EJ walks to the town square and comes across Leo. EJ asks if that’s the baby that Johnny and Chanel are trying to adopt. Leo informs him that things have gotten somewhat complicated which EJ questions. Tate and Holly sit with Steve in the town square. Holly says she can’t believe Sophia was just hiding out at the Pub. Tate says it makes sense since she worked there, had a key and an alarm code. Steve says it’s good that she didn’t turn off her phone until she was there since that’s how they found her. Tate questions how long Sophia thought she would get away with being there. Steve thinks she planned to go right away. Steve says with all that pressure, it’s no wonder she collapsed after being through so much. Holly guesses she does have some compassion for her since they used to be friends. Holly says that everything Sophia put them through has been a whole lot.

Brady sits with Amy at the hospital. Amy thanks him for finding her daughter with Steve and comments on how relieved she was to see her. Amy prays that Sophia will be alright. Brady assures that Sarah will take excellent care of her. Amy still doesn’t understand what happened since just a year ago, she was walking upstairs to Sophia’s room and making sure she was doing her homework. Amy never imagined it would come to this and asks if she missed something. Brady says they do their best as parents. Brady talks about Tate and Rachel having their fair share of troubles. Brady says they never want to see their kids in a bad spot but have to be careful not to blame themselves. Amy then steps away to call her husband. Johnny and Chanel come over to ask Brady how Sophia is. Brady says that Sarah is in with her now, so they should know something soon. Chanel says as angry as she was with Sophia, she never wanted anything bad to happen to her as she’s just a kid who made a lot of bad choices. Johnny brings up Sophia being Tesoro’s mother and says he hopes she recovers so she can clear things up with child services.

Sarah examines Sophia and says she’s so sorry as she knows how much she’s been through in the past months and how upset she was when she told her to be honest with Tate about him not being the father, but she didn’t want to panic her and make her feel like she had to run away. Sarah says she’s so happy they found her safe and sound. Sophia remains emotionless as Sarah asks if she can hear her. Sarah asks Sophia to blink or nod if she can hear her but she has no reaction.

Tate can’t believe he spent all that time looking for a kid that wasn’t even his. Tate tells Holly that he’s so sorry. Holly says he doesn’t have to apologizes since as far as he knew, the baby was his. Steve adds that Tate did what anyone with a good heart would. Steve asks if Tate told Theresa that she’s not a Grandmother. Tate confirms he did and jokes that Theresa was relieved as she said she’s too young to be a Grandma. Steve says he will fill Kayla in and check in with Brady later. Tate tells Steve how grateful he is for everything he’s done and thanks him. Steve says he was happy to help as he walks away. Holly tells Tate that he’s not the only one who has to feel sorry about something. Tate asks what she means. Holly brings up that she and Sophia used to be best friends and not long ago, they’d have sleepovers and gossip. Holly remembers her mom making them breakfast. Holly feels that she and Tate sneaking around with lying and secrets is what sent Sophia off the rails in the first place. Tate recalls when they broke up and he started dating Sophia, he was trying to force himself to feel some type of way about her but he was never as in to it as Sophia was. Tate and Holly admit they feel horrible about how they treated her and they pray that she will be okay.

Sarah comes out from the exam room and tells Amy, Brady, Chanel, and Johnny that Sophia is physically fine, but she’s not responding to any of her questions and doesn’t seem capable of doing so at the moment, so she’s going to order a psych counsel. Sarah says from what she observes, it seems Sophia has suffered a psychotic break which has resulted in selective mutism. Amy questions what could’ve caused this. Sarah says it’s difficult to pinpoint the cause, but Sophia is clearly under an extraordinary amount of stress and they will know more after the psych consult. Amy asks if she can see her. Sarah says of course but they have to do everything they can to not upset Sophia, so they head to the exam room. Chanel and Johnny discuss Sophia being unable to speak and having a nervous breakdown. Chanel worries about if Sophia can’t talk to child services and asks then what. EJ arrives and says he just got word about Sophia and asks if he can help in any way but Chanel tells him that he can’t and they don’t need anything from him as they walk away from EJ. Brady calls Marlena and fills her in, saying it’s definitely been a lot. Brady asks Marlena to tell Rachel that he will be home for dinner. Brady hangs up as Sarah comes back. Brady asks her what is going on. Sarah says Amy is with Sophia now and she hopes that Brady understands that she couldn’t say anything to him about the baby. Brady confirms he does and he appreciates her pointing him in the right direction. Sarah says she’s just so relieved that the truth finally came out and she thinks Sophia will be relieved too since she was walking around with so many secrets, shame, and guilt which finally caught up with her. Brady says it was too much for her to handle and asks what’s going to happen to Sophia. Sarah admits that she doesn’t know.

Amy goes in to the exam room to see Sophia, who remains expressionless with no response. Amy wishes she knew how much anguish she was in. Amy says she would give anything to trade places with her now. Amy promises Sophia that they will figure this out as she hugs her and tells her it will be okay.

As Holly and Tate leave, Javi returns to the town square where Leo asks how Sophia is. Javi says she seems to be the same as when they got to the hospital with a blank stare and not saying anything. Javi notes that Sarah was taking care of her and Amy was with her. Leo says despite Amy taking issue with their family, he still feels sorry for her as she must be worried sick about her daughter. They look over Tesoro as Javi talks about how he’s so sweet and innocent while stuck in this mess. Leo jokes about envying him and admits he’s using humor to cover feeling sad, vulnerable, and scared. Leo and Javi wonder what Sophia being back and the truth being out means for Tesoro and for them.

Steve and Kayla sit together in the town square, talking about how they finally both got a day off together. Kayla comments on Steve running Black Patch mostly by himself. Steve talks about wanting to honor John’s memory in keeping it going, but he does need to hire someone to help him run the agency. Steve says he hasn’t come across anyone fit for the job, but then he declares that Kayla would be perfect for the job. Steve asks if Kayla wants to be his partner and jokes that they can rename it “Sweet Patch”.

Alex greets Stephanie at home in the morning, commenting on her tossing and turning all night. Alex knows she has a lot on her mind. Stephanie admits she’s not great and talks about how Leo can’t publish his story until someone confirms it. Stephanie worries that eventually, the world will find out that she’s Anastasia Sands. Stephanie discusses her belief that Jeremy is Leo’s source due to the timing.

Gabi goes to the Titan office where Philip is reading the Spectator and says he didn’t see Theo becoming DiMera CEO coming. Gabi responds that she didn’t either.

Brady goes to the Brady Pub and runs in to Johnny. Johnny asks if he has any word on Sophia. Brady says he doesn’t and was hoping Johnny had but Johnny says it’s been radio silence. Johnny mentions having a setup in the town square for his film class, but he doesn’t expect Sophia to show up. Brady asks what if she does. Johnny says that Brady would be the first person he calls as there’s a long list of people who want to know what’s going on. Brady remarks that it seems like half of Salem is on that list.

Tate joins Holly in her dorm room. Holly mentions Arianna leaving early for class, so Tate says he’ll take all the alone time with her that he can get. They kiss until they are interrupted by a knock at the door and it’s Sophia’s mom, Amy Choi. Amy says she’s looking for Sophia. Tate responds that they are too.

Philip tells Gabi that he wishes Theo well as he’s going to have to learn on the job, but guesses Tony didn’t have any other option without Chad and EJ. Philip talks about the DiMeras while Gabi brings up the Kiriakis family talking about being stronger united lately. Philip declares that his point is that Tony was an idiot not to put Gabi in charge of DiMera.

Kayla tells Steve that he’s got to be joking about her being his partner and adds that he can’t afford her. Steve assures it’d be worth every penny as she’s proven herself to be a good partner over the years. Steve remarks that anything would be better than having EJ breathe down her neck all day at the hospital and she deserves better. Steve feels even if it’s not Black Patch, maybe it’s time for Kayla to consider a career change in general.

Alex tells Stephanie that he knows the timing of Jeremy’s arrival is suspicious but admits he ran in to him last night at the Brady Pub while picking up dinner. Stephanie asks what Jeremy said to him. Alex says he didn’t give him a chance to say much as he warned him to steer clear of her. Stephanie asks why he didn’t tell her when he first got back. Alex says Stephanie was already upset about Leo so he didn’t want to upset her further by bringing up Jeremy. Alex feels like Jeremy wasn’t running a victory lap about screwing her over while Stephanie worries that Jeremy is just a charming predator which makes him all the more dangerous. Stephanie declares that she’ll figure out who tipped Leo off after they deal with the fallout since she needs to get ahead of this and thinks she knows how to do it.

Tate brings up Sophia calling in sick to work. Amy says she wasn’t at home and never came home last night. Amy adds that she’s called Sophia but it went straight to voicemail and asks if there’s something they aren’t telling her. Tate says she isn’t the only one Sophia is avoiding as she’s ignoring their calls and texts. Amy argues that Sophia’s phone could’ve died or she could be lost or in trouble. Holly then suggests it’s possible that Sophia ran away. Amy questions why she would think that. Holly responds that she could give her a dozen reasons why.

Brady asks Johnny for some good news on the latest on him and Chanel adopting Tesoro. Johnny explains that child services are willing to reassess the case which Brady says is fantastic. Johnny says they have to prove they were setup which hinges on Sophia coming forward about what she did. Johnny declares that without Sophia, it will be tough to get this resolved.

Kayla tells Steve that she’s thought a hundred times about resigning since EJ took over the hospital, but she feels someone has to think of the patients and she wants to keep an eye on EJ because she thinks he’s up to no good. Steve asks about the reports linking the free clinic construction to the blackout. Kayla says she’s asked EJ about it but he’s always eager to change the subject.

Alex finishes a call with Kate and tells Stephanie that Kate is completely on board with Stephanie revealing herself as Anastasia Sands. Stephanie remarks that it’s better coming from her than Leo. Alex asks if she’s sure this is what she wants, reminding her that she wasn’t on board with publishing the novel at all and only did because he promised to keep her identity a secret. Stephanie responds that it’s not just about her anymore as Titan Publishing is keeping the company afloat and it could damage the company. Alex says he cares more about her than the company. Stephanie responds that if the secret is going to come out, she’d like to be in control of it. Alex encourages that it could help her career and her PR firm. Alex tells Stephanie that if they are going to release this to the press, there’s no turning back, so he asks if she’s sure she’s ready to do this. Stephanie responds that she doesn’t have a choice.

Amy demands an explanation as to what is going on. Tate responds that there are a lot of things about Sophia that she doesn’t know. Amy tells him to say what he has to say. Tate says it was a lot for him to process too, but Sophia did not give their baby up for adoption in Chicago. Amy argues that she did but Holly says he’s telling the truth, unlike what Sophia has been doing lately. Amy questions what Sophia has been lying about. Holly starts by revealing that the baby isn’t Tate’s which Amy questions. Tate says that’s not all and informs her that Sophia gave birth before she went to Chicago. Tate reveals that the baby left at the firehouse that is being fostered by the Hernandez family is Amy’s grandson.

Brady tells Johnny that if what Sophia did wasn’t cruel, he’d almost say it was impressive. Johnny says he never would’ve imagined Sophia was capable of all this. Brady understands Sophia panicked but he hopes she does right by Tate and Johnny. Johnny comments on the lies Sophia spread about he and Holly. Johnny remarks that he’s being pulled in a million different directions with his teaching job, the adoption, and the chaos at Titan-DiMera. Brady hears the split is a done deal and asks Johnny about being back at DiMera as he assumed Johnny would jump back in to the fold with Theo as CEO. Johnny says he was never really part of the DiMera inner circle and he’s enjoyed his time at Titan, getting to use his filmmaking skills in new ways. Johnny adds that when he was on trial, Brady, Philip, and Xander could’ve kicked him to the curb but they didn’t and supported him so he’d like to return the favor if Xander will still have him around instead of viewing him as an enemy.

Gabi thanks Philip for saying that. Philip calls her a huge talent and says he’s sorry to see her go. Gabi says she came to return her key card. Philip says he will miss her and wishes her luck working with the enemy. Gabi responds that she’s actually not staying with DiMera either because Tony gave her back Gabi Chic, free and clear, so she’s finally sole owner of her company again. Philip congratulates her but questions why Tony would do that.

Amy argues that this is not the Sophia she knows and questions why she should believe them. Holly says they wouldn’t lie about this. Amy argues that Holly was supposed to be Sophia’s best friend but was constantly disloyal to her. Holly argues that Sophia tried to ruin her life. Holly tells Amy that what they told her is the truth and she’s going to find out one way or another. Amy calls this a waste of time and declares that she will call the police to see if they can find Sophia. Tate calls that a good idea and offers their help but Amy says they’ve done more than enough. Amy then orders them to stay away from her and her daughter as she storms out.

Brady assures Johnny that no one at Titan think he’s a mole for DiMera and they know he has distanced himself from EJ. Johnny says all he wants to do is good work which Brady says he can do at Titan, but it’s his decision. Johnny says it’s to be continued as he has to get to the town square. Johnny thanks Brady for the talk as he then exits the Pub. Brady then gets a call from Tate, who says they need his help because they think Sophia may have run away.

Kayla tells Steve that she’s done theorizing about what EJ is up to since it’s her day off, so she doesn’t want to think about her infuriating boss. Steve asks what she would like to do instead. Kayla suggests going to the theater to see a retro horror movie. Steve then gets a call from Brady and says he’ll get right on it. Kayla guesses the movies are going to have to wait. Steve guesses they will have to take a rain check.

Philip tells Gabi that he’s happy she got control of her company again but questions what was in it for Tony. Gabi says he didn’t give it out of the goodness of his heart, but she negotiated with him. Philip questions if he even wants to know what Gabi had over him. Gabi claims it’s nothing nefarious and that the company didn’t need negative publicity, adding that Anna can work with her instead of him. Philip decides it doesn’t matter as she got what she wanted and that’s awesome. Philip asks if he can persuade her to keep Gabi Chic at Titan.

Alex tells Stephanie that if they bury the news with another press release, it might look like she’s ashamed of writing One Stormy Night. Stephanie feels teasing a big reveal might risk Leo going to the press early. Kayla then shows up at the door and greets them. Kayla says she and Steve wanted to get them a housewarming present of a succulent plant. Stephanie thanks her but says she didn’t have to come all this way and guesses that Kayla just wanted to check on her with everything going on as they hug.

Johnny joins Tate and Holly in the town square. Johnny tells Holly that he’s really glad she decided to stay at Salem U. Johnny apologizes if his actions in any way contributed in her feeling like she needed to leave. Holly says that Sophia had everyone fooled so she doesn’t blame him. Johnny says he’s sorry anyway and assures that the pictures are deleted. Tate suggests they just talk about the project. Johnny first asks if they have heard from Sophia. Tate responds that they haven’t and they actually think she might have run away. Holly adds that Sophia’s mom said she didn’t come home last night and isn’t answering texts or calls. Johnny says he’s worried about her well being but if she goes off the grid, things could get a lot more complicated for he and Chanel as they were really counting on Sophia admitting things were made up. Tate asks what if she doesn’t. Johnny worries about he and Chanel’s chances to adopt.

Amy goes to the Brady Pub in a panic, asking Brady if Roman is there because she thinks Roman may have been the last person to talk to Sophia. Brady explains that he knows what is going on and he called Roman, who just said that Sophia called in sick yesterday. Amy asks where she could be and where she could’ve gone. Brady sits her down and asks how he can help. Amy mocks the idea of him caring and remarks that Tate is claiming the baby isn’t his but she knows her daughter doesn’t sleep around. Brady reveals to her that he has a DNA test that proves Tate is not the father of Sophia’s baby. Amy questions how. Brady calls it a long story and he will tell her everything but suggests focusing on finding Sophia. Amy says that her husband is heading to the police station to file a missing persons report. Amy adds that Sophia took her tip money, her toothbrush and some clothes. Brady encourages that the police will do everything they can. Brady adds that he contacted Steve, who is the best private investigator in town and will help them find her.

Gabi tells Philip that Gabi Chic is her baby and has flip flopped from DiMera to Titan more than she can remember, so she prefers it to stand on it’s own. Gabi says she certainly won’t need to compete with Basic Black for resources anymore, but she is a business woman if Philip wants to make her an offer she can’t refuse. Philip is afraid that Titan is a little cash strapped, but a Kiriakis always pays their debts, so if Gabi cuts them a good deal now, he’ll make it worth it. Gabi calls it a compelling argument, but she’s spent months telling him how much she wanted to leave Titan. Philip reminds her that she came around because of how nice they were to her and asks if she was just stroking their egos. Gabi assures that she meant every word and that they were all great to work with, especially Philip. Gabi adds that she thought he would be happy that she was leaving because now he’s not her boss which means there’s nothing stopping them as she then kisses Philip.

Amy questions why Brady is doing this for her and Sophia. Brady responds that he knows what it’s like to have a kid go missing and he wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Steve arrives and greets Brady, so he introduces him to Amy. Steve says he’s sorry they aren’t meeting under better circumstances. Amy asks if Steve can help find her daughter. Steve assures he won’t quit until they do. Steve explains that the police is taking the camera footage of any way she could have left town. Steve says there aren’t many ways to go far undetected and she’s too young to rent a car which limits the places she could stay as most hotels won’t rent to anyone under 21. Amy isn’t sure where else she would go since her circle got much smaller when she got pregnant and started keeping to herself. Brady asks about the attorney that handled the adoption. Steve says he’s waiting to hear back but asks if Sophia has ever done anything like this before. Amy recalls when Sophia was 6, they got an argument over piano lessons and talks about her being wise beyond her years.

Johnny knows they all have a lot on their minds but says they will concentrate on their project. Johnny asks if they have any idea what their docu short will be about. Holly says she’s trying to secure an internship under Stephanie at SJPR which is covering the upcoming gala for the Tom Horton Clinic. Tate thinks it would be perfect if they team up on this since both of their families go way back with Tom. Johnny agrees and tells them to keep him updated.

Kayla asks Stephanie how Leo found out that she wrote One Stormy Night. Stephanie guesses it was from Jeremy Horton. Kayla asks if he’s causing trouble for her already. Stephanie says so much for turning over a new leaf. Kayla asks what she’s going to do about it. Stephanie responds that the only thing she can do is to beat Leo to the punch and tell the world that she is Anastasia Sands.

Philip and Gabi go to his hotel room and kiss onto the bed. Gabi asks if he has work to do but Philip says it’s a perk of being the boss and he has his hands full here as they continue kissing.

Kayla worries that Stephanie is walking a tightrope. Stephanie says there’s definitely a risk but by being in control of the message, they can mitigate the damage. Kayla gives her full support. Stephanie says they should probably prepare their family and friends that she wrote a novel with such content. Kayla guesses she means Steve specifically. Kayla jokes that she thinks Steve will be more annoyed as a private investigator that he didn’t figure it out sooner. Kayla promises to break it to Steve gently. Kayla tells Stephanie that she’s so proud of her for handling this with such grace. Stephanie thanks Kayla and Alex for everything. Stephanie guesses it’s finally time to tell the world that she is Anastasia Sands.

Holly tells Tate that she’s really excited about starting the documentary. Tate says it will be really hard to focus with all this drama going on with Sophia, so he hopes someone finds her soon.

Johnny walks past the Brady Pub as Amy comes out from the Pub and slaps him.

Brady and Steve remain in the Pub as Steve gets a message with the last known location of Sophia’s phone before she turned it off and it’s right here at midnight last night.

Foster goes to see Julie at the bookstore and says he feels like a new man, thanking Julie for getting him to the hospital when she did. Julie tells him to just take care of himself. Foster says the new medicine Kayla put him on feels like a miracle. Julie encourages him to get himself a doctor when he gets to California and asks when he’s leaving. Foster responds that he’s actually not.

Chad is at home on the phone with Leo, telling him that EJ is his brother but if Leo has proof that EJ caused the blackout, he’s going on the front page. Leo warns that EJ is going to come after Chad. Chad instructs Leo to just get the story and he will worry about EJ. Leo says Chad’s the boss as they hang up. Jeremy Horton then comes home and tells Chad about his first day as a teacher. Jeremy asks if Thomas is feeling better. Chad responds that it’s not that kind of sick, but heartsick.

Alex pours glasses of wine for he and Stephanie at home. Alex proposes a toast to Kate’s edits on Stephanie’s mystery novel that were so on point, that they are already sending it straight to the presses. Stephanie calls that wonderful and terrifying. Alex then tells Stephanie that Maggie reached out to Julie about doing a book launch signing for the bookstore grand opening which Stephanie says would be incredible. Alex tells Stephanie to buckle up because her career is about to reach new heights. Alex then finds the flowers there Jeremy brought Stephanie in the trash can.

Cat sits in the park on the phone with her brother Aaron, who informs her about he and Sophia. Cat says the only way to be sure is a DNA test and asks if he’s okay. Cat promises it will work out somehow and they will figure it out as they hang up. Rafe then comes by with Tesoro in his stroller. Cat tells Rafe that she was literally just about to text him. Rafe asks if she’s okay. Cat tells him he’s not going to believe this.

Leo goes to EJ’s office and asks if he has a minute since his assistant was away. EJ responds that his door was closed for a reason and tells him to go away. Leo says not until he hears the latest and assures that he’s going to want to hear this.

Julie thought Kayla said Foster could fly when his blood pressure was under control. Foster confirms she did but then his son got a new job in Chicago, so he wouldn’t have family nearby which felt like a sign he should stay. Julie is glad he will still be around. Foster states that Salem is the only place he’s ever known. Julie is sure he regrets that his son didn’t tell him about his new job before he sold the bookstore to her. Julie then asks if he’s here because he wants the business back.

Alex questions why Stephanie threw away fresh flowers. Stephanie responds that she didn’t want them so Alex asks why she bought them. Stephanie reveals that she didn’t and that someone brought them. Alex questions who that might be. Stephanie informs him that it was her ex who moved back to Salem, Jeremy Horton. Alex asks why the hell he would be bringing her flowers.

Jeremy tells Chad that he got the whole story about Cat from Julie and says that Julie just wants what’s best for the family. Chad expected the rest of the family to be upset about Cat but he didn’t expect Thomas to take it that hard. Jeremy says in his experience as a teacher, kids forgive and it’s adults you gotta watch out for. Jeremy says in his opinion, Julie, Jennifer, and Jack don’t have a right to judge Chad and Cat. Jeremy advises they should follow their hearts.

Cat explains to Rafe that Tate is not the father of Tesoro but Aaron might be, so there’s a chance that Tesoro is her nephew. Rafe asks how Aaron is holding up. Cat admits he’s terrified and feels like it’s coming out of nowhere. Rafe asks how Cat is holding up. Cat calls it a lot, especially with everything else going on. Rafe asks how Chad’s talk with the Horton family went about them. Cat responds that there is no her and Chad anymore.

EJ tells Leo again to go away. Leo tells EJ that his lead story is about EJ being responsible for the blackout because of his thirst for power which EJ calls slander. Leo adds that he will include in the article that when reached for comment, EJ said “go away”. EJ then stops Leo and agrees to go on the record, so Leo asks what he has to say for himself. EJ responds that the electrician has been relieved of his duty and the hospital apologizes for any inconvenience it caused in providing a free clinic for Salem’s most vulnerable citizens. Leo admits that Stephanie trained him well in PR while EJ remarks that now Leo’s story will be boring. Leo says his editor won’t like the big hole in his front page. EJ then questions when Leo is going to pay for the big hole he left in his wall. Leo argues that EJ should pay for it and asks if he was just supposed to leave Gwen trapped in there. EJ remarks that he bets Gwen wishes he left her and Dimitri alone. Leo argues that Dimitri was never attracted to women and never faithful to any partner. EJ mocks Leo, asking if Dimitri broke his heart and he still pines for him. Leo says of course not as he now has a fabulous person in Javi, who he is quite happy with. Leo does admit that he occasionally wonders where Dimitri is breaking hearts these days and asks if EJ has any idea. EJ asks wouldn’t he like to know.

Alex questions Jeremy bringing Stephanie flowers and how he even knew where she lived. Stephanie says it doesn’t matter but Alex says it does because he’s going to kick his ass. Stephanie states that Jeremy just wanted clarification and that he read her book. Alex knew he should’ve told Kate to have the scene pulled. Stephanie explains that Jeremy seemed to think it was an invitation to reconnect. Alex repeats that he’s going to kick his ass but Stephanie says he doesn’t have to. Stephanie says that the flowers were just a peace offering. Alex asks if she believes him. Stephanie adds that Jeremy got a new job and turned his life around. Alex responds that if he decides to turn back around this way, he’s going to deal with him.

Chad tells Jeremy that he wishes it were that simple. Jeremy says they’ve all done things they aren’t proud of and remarks that his family has no business throwing stones in glass houses, so they’ll figure it out. Jeremy says families screw up and points out that he turned his life around and found his faith. Chad says he doesn’t see Julie ever changing her mind on Cat. Jeremy brings up that Julie forgave Nick after he was convicted for murder while Chad points out that Nick is family. Jeremy says Chad is family too and adds that he loves them but Jack has been forgiven again and again while Jennifer keeps her skeletons in the closet. Jeremy reminds Chad that people can change for the better and life doesn’t get as many chance at happiness so he needs to grab the ones he gets.

Foster assures Julie that he is retired and would never take the bookstore back. Foster adds that he couldn’t wish for it to be in better hands and he loves the direction that Julie is taking it. They talk about books needing to be read now more than ever. Julie guesses Foster misses it already. Foster says he doesn’t miss the payroll, but he does miss the customers. Foster offers to be a volunteer but Julie wants him to work part time so they shake hands and agree.

Rafe tells Cat that he’s so sorry about her and Chad. Cat says she knew there was no chance the Hortons would ever accept her. Cat wishes she could go back to when she met Chad and meet him as herself. Rafe encourages that love has a way of finding a way as he’s seen it happen. Cat guesses Rafe is a hopeless romantic like she is, which he admits. Cat says her big plan is to bury herself in work. Cat adds that there is something Rafe needs to see.

Foster sees Julie has a sign that the store will be closed for renovations. Julie explains that she’ll be adding a café with coffee and pastries. Foster asks about security. Julie says they needed an upgrade and are acting some cameras. Foster notes that the shop has a lot of treasures to protect. Julie agrees including the conversations and memories.

Alex questions why he’s just now hearing about Jeremy. Stephanie says he was dealing with Titan and didn’t want to bother him with nothing. Alex questions why the flowers are in the trash if it was nothing. Stephanie responds that she didn’t like them or the person who sent them. Alex doesn’t like that Jeremy knows where she lives or that she’s Anastasia Sands, which she notes that he said he would keep to himself. Alex then admits he’s overreacting and apologizes as he hugs her. Stephanie says it’s okay and she understands. Stephanie adds that as long as she’s here with him, she’s great as they kiss.

Chad and Jeremy talk about Chad’s situation being frustrating and complex. Chad says he gets how the Hortons feel since he was furious at Cat too and fought how he felt until he saw her with her family. Chad says Cat loves her family like Julie loves them and praises her. Chad adds that Thomas saw it too before he found out what she did, but Thomas is upset with him because he didn’t tell him about their relationship and he’s the only parent he has left. Chad declares that for Thomas and his sake, he needs to regain his trust.

Cat shows Rafe the pictures that she took of the lab in construction and the security door including the keypad. Cat thinks they need to keep an eye on that room as she’s pretty sure EJ’s big plans for the hospital center around it.

Leo asks if EJ ever hears from Dimitri. EJ says no as they are not close. Leo questions if Dimitri hasn’t been sniffing around trying to get his money back from Gwen. EJ remarks that he’s probably too busy with a new lover. They continue to argue as Leo tells EJ not to take advantage of Gwen while EJ points out that Gwen gets to live in his house. EJ tells Leo again to go away but Leo says he’s not leaving without a story for the paper. Leo suggests an inside scoop on who actually shot EJ which startles him, causing Leo to take notice of EJ’s reaction.

Rafe tells Cat that EJ is definitely up to something. Rafe says once they figure out what they are looking at, they will put EJ in prison. Tesoro wakes up in his stroller. Rafe asks Cat if she wants to test out her aunt duties and hold him, but Cat says she will wait until she finds out if it’s her brother’s kid because she doesn’t want to get attached just to lose him.

Chad tells Jeremy that Thomas is so much like Abigail in all the best ways. Chad adds that when Thomas found out about Cat, he told him he wanted to go live with Jack and Jennifer in Boston. Jeremy asks if there’s anything he can do. Chad says that Thomas is not communicating with him right now, so he can let him know if he sees any warning signs at school. Chad says to let him know if there’s anything at all he can do to return the favor..

Alex and Stephanie continue kissing until Alex remembers he was cooking lasagna and rushes to go check on it. Alex comes back and realizes he put it on broil instead of bake. Alex jokes that he blames her for distracting him. Alex decides to get take out from the Brady Pub instead. Stephanie tells him to hurry back. Alex apologizes and exits. Stephanie then looks down at the flowers in the trash can and locks the door.

Foster asks Julie when he starts and if there’s anything he can do before the grand re-opening. Julie asks him to close the store for her. Foster asks if she’s okay. Julie says she’ll be fine when she gets home and thanks him as she quickly exits. Foster then turns around to see Cat had entered the store. Foster remembers Cat buying her sister a graphic novel the last time she was there. Cat says he has a good memory and comments that she does love his bookstore. Foster then informs her that he sold the store to Julie and he just works here now. Cat calls it unfortunate as she doesn’t think she will be able to come back then.

Rafe brings Tesoro to the Brady Pub where Roman greets them. Rafe talks about the whole family taking care of Tesoro, adding that they are all pretty tired and sleep deprived but they are going to miss Tesoro when he’s finally adopted. Roman mentions that he hasn’t heard the latest. Rafe asks if he means he hasn’t heard about Sophia. Roman says he didn’t. Rafe then reveals to Roman that it turns out Sophia is Tesoro’s mother. Roman asks if Tate knows his baby has been in Salem this whole time but Rafe informs him that it’s not Tate’s baby as it turns out Sophia lied about that and a lot of other things.

Leo talks about EJ’s reaction to his question. EJ says he’s just upset that Leo is still there. Leo repeats that he will remain until he gets a story for tomorrow’s front page. EJ then tells Leo that he’s got a story for him, but he didn’t hear this from him.

Chad finishes a work call as Julie comes home. Chad asks how her book club went. Julie responds that it was nothing out of the ordinary until his girlfriend showed up. Chad tells her that she’s not his girlfriend and asks her not to do that when his son is upstairs and could overhear. Julie apologizes. Chad informs Julie that he ended things with Cat, so she can stop swinging at her. Julie says that she just said Cat showed up at the bookstore. Chad argues that it’s always her tone and asks how many times he has to tell her that Cat’s not the one to blame for any of this. Julie complains that she’s heard that story over and over again. Julie asks if it ever occurred to Chad that it’s him she’s disappointed in for falling for Cat after everything that happened.

Foster tells Cat that even though he no longer owns the place, he’ll still be there to help her find what she needs. Cat tells him that she just thinks Julie won’t want her there. Foster asks if she feels like telling the story. Cat calls it just bad blood between her and the Hortons. Cat questions what else to do. Foster encourages her that it’s a safe place to be no matter who owns it. Foster suggests her a copy of Wuthering Heights which Cat doesn’t think she had ever read, but says she wants to and asks how much it is.

Roman hopes whatever is going on with Sophia doesn’t affect Johnny and Chanel’s chances of adopting Tesoro. Rafe says it’s up to child services. Alex arrives and greets them as Roman jokes about him burning his lasagna. Jeremy then arrives. Roman greets him and says he heard he was back in town. Roman welcomes him back as they shake hands.

Leo goes to see Stephanie at her and Alex’s apartment. Stephanie questions how he knew where to find her. Leo jokes that her social media is filled with bragging about moving in with her boyfriend. Stephanie is surprised to learn he follows her and asks what he wants. Leo says he heard a rumor that he thought he should pass along to her. Leo then guesses that Stephanie is Anastasia Sands.

Julie argues that Abigail was Chad’s wife and deserved better from him. Chad asks if she wants him to just be alone forever or to live in a monastery with his kids. Chad tells Julie to make a list of acceptable things and he’ll pick one from the top. Julie complains that Chad told everyone in the family that he was not in a relationship with Cat, but he lied. Julie asks if he has any idea what he’s done to the family. Chad shouts that he ended things with Cat, she’s gone, and asks what else she wants him to do. Julie responds that the cheese is out of the bottle and won’t go back in, so she doesn’t think there’s a damn thing he can do about it. Julie then storms out.

EJ goes to the bookstore and runs in to Cat there. They talk about being bookworms. EJ mentions ordering a rare book that just came in. Cat tells him that Foster will be back soon and suggests he check out the classics while he waits. Cat says he’ll see him tomorrow and then exits. EJ then picks up a copy of Wuthering Heights.

Stephanie asks Leo who told him that she’s Anastasia Sands. Leo says he can’t reveal his sources and asks if that means it’s true. Stephanie says she’s not telling him anything but threatens to sue him if he publishes an unconfirmed rumor. Leo assures her that he will get confirmation and then exits. Stephanie locks the door behind him.

Alex gets his takeout and then stops on his way out of the Pub to confront Jeremy. Alex introduces himself as Stephanie’s boyfriend. Jeremy says she mentioned that. Alex warns Jeremy to stay the hell away from Stephanie. Jeremy responds that he has every intention of doing that. Alex tells him to keep it that way as he then exits the Pub.

Abe is at home, finishing a call with his tutor student Liam. Theo walks in and comments on Abe going through with tutoring him even though Paulina thought it was a bad idea. Abe responds that he decided to make his own decision, just like Theo did when he decided to work for the DiMeras despite Abe saying it was a bad idea.

Aaron goes to the Brady Pub to find Tate working and questions why Tate missed class. Tate informs him that he was at the airport, stopping Holly from leaving Salem.

Holly returns to the dorms, shocking Arianna as they embrace.

Johnny joins Chanel at the bookstore and asks how her meeting with Julie went. Chanel says it went great as they went over all the details for her bakery providing for the bookstore café. They talk about their minds being on the adoption. Johnny says he hasn’t heard from Sophia as she is not answering his calls. Johnny remarks that maybe she’s busy trying to ruin someone else’s life.

Sophia rushes in to Melinda Trask’s office and tells her that everything is falling apart and she needs her help because she doesn’t know what to do. Melinda tells her to calm down and tell her what happened. Sophia tells her that she decided to do something really stupid.

Theo knows Abe is not happy about his decision which is why he waited so long to give Tony an answer. Abe is sure Tony is thrilled that he got what he wanted. Theo says that Tony needed a CEO as soon as possible. Abe stops him to question him saying CEO.

Holly tells Arianna that she was getting on the plane but Tate stopped her at the gate at the last minute. Arianna asks if she told her mom that she’s not going to Paris. Holly confirms that she did and she was disappointed but she understands. Holly guesses now that she’s staying, she’ll have to face the disciplinary committee. Arianna says they will face them together. Holly feels it was all her fault but Arianna takes some of the blame too and repeats that they will face it together. Arianna says she doesn’t think she could’ve finished the rest of her year with a random roommate. Holly tells her not to worry as she’s not going anywhere as they hug.

Sophia complains that she’s such an idiot and she knows Melinda told her to wait until everything with the baby blew over but she was so angry at Johnny, Chanel, and Holly, so she came up with a plan to get back at all three of them at the same time. Melinda asks her to tell her exactly what she did. Sophia reminds her that she said she wanted revenge on all three of them and the pieces fell together perfectly until it wasn’t. Melinda asks what she did to get revenge. Sophia says it all started the night of the blackout and Arianna let her stay in their dorm room since she couldn’t get home, so while she was there, she spiked Holly’s drink with rum so she would pass out and then she snapped pictures of her unconscious to make it look like a thirst trap and sent those pictures to Johnny, right when the social worker was visiting Johnny and Chanel so the whole adoption would blow up in her face, but instead it all kind of blew up in her own face.

Chanel says she knows Brady told them not to confront Sophia until they have proof of what she did, but questions there being any confrontation if they can’t find her. Johnny encourages that they are going to figure this out. Chanel questions how they will prove that Sophia was setting them up and worries they’ll never get to adopt Tesoro. Paulina then arrives and says not to be so sure.

Theo tells Abe that he’s looking at the new CEO of DiMera Enterprises. Abe says he never imagined when he said a job, he meant CEO. Theo responds that it just became official today. Theo remarks that Abe doesn’t have to worry about saying congratulations or that he’s proud of him because he knows how he feels about it. Theo argues that Tony will be checking in with him every day and Rita is in town to be his right hand. Abe complains that Theo is becoming the face of a company that has done some questionable things. Theo tells Abe that Paulina made him see that instead of DiMera corrupting him, maybe he can positively affect the company. Abe then questions Theo talking to Paulina about this.

Paulina informs Johnny and Chanel that she spoke with social services about the circumstances and admits that Sophia admitting what she did would be the easiest thing, but until they can track her down, child protective services have agreed to investigate further which excites Chanel and Johnny. Chanel hugs Paulina as they thank her. Paulina credits Rafe’s detective skills in finding out where the texts came from as playing a big part in changing the mind of child protective services. Chanel is excited that they might still have a chance.

Aaron tells Tate that he can’t believe Sophia told all those lies. Tate realizes he didn’t even tell Aaron about Sophia showing him a stock photo and claiming it was the adoptive parents as he then reveals to Aaron that he’s not the baby’s father.

Arianna hopes Holly isn’t mad that she broke her promise and told Tate that she was leaving town. Holly says she was so relieved and should be thanking Arianna for clearing everything up. Arianna blames herself for starting the whole rumor but Holly says it’s on Sophia because she wanted them to think they slept together. Arianna admits that she thought so when she saw Sophia coming out of Tate’s room, but she totally played her. Holly remarks that it turns out playing people is something Sophia has done a lot of lately and she won’t believe what else she did.

Melinda tells Sophia that she has a a million questions and asks how she thought she would get away with this. Sophia asks her not to be mad at her because she needs her on her side. Melinda assures that she is on her side but she’s baffled because she had to realize that Holly would know she didn’t send those photos to Johnny. Sophia argues that Holly was pretty drunk so she wouldn’t remember and brings up her history with Johnny. Sophia says it would’ve been easy but Holly started a fire in the dorm by knocking over a candle. Sophia points out that she didn’t account for Holly being in the hospital at the exact same time that she sent the photos to Johnny. Sophia complains that Holly always turns out fine. Melinda asks if Sophia actually wishes Holly had been hurt.

Theo confirms to Abe that he talked to Paulina when they had dinner at the Pub because he needed some advice and he already knew how Abe felt about him working at DiMera. Abe questions if Paulina told him to take the job. Theo explains that she told him he’s qualified and that he should make his own decisions. Abe wishes Paulina kept her opinion to herself this time. Theo repeats that she advised him to make his own choice which is what he did, so he asks Abe not to be mad at Paulina.

Paulina still can’t believe that Sophia would try to ruin Johnny and Chanel’s chances at adopting a child. Johnny says he can understand her being upset with them for the first adoption falling through but doesn’t get why she would go through all this. Chanel wishes she could find Sophia and drag her to child services to make her tell the truth.

Holly informs Arianna that Sophia was the one who sent the pictures of her to Johnny which Arianna questions why she would do that. Holly explains that Sophia wanted to mess up their adoption because they didn’t adopt her baby the first time. Holly then shocks Arianna by revealing that Tesoro is Sophia’s baby and everything about the adoptive parents was a lie.

Sophia assures Melinda that she didn’t want Holly to get hurt and she had nothing to do with the fire, she’s just upset that Holly being in the hospital ruined her plan. Melinda says there’s nothing they can do to change that now, so it’s best to just focus on damage control because it won’t be long before someone pieces together that Holly couldn’t have sent those texts. Sophia then reveals that someone already has and complains that everything is falling apart as her phone is already blowing up with people wanting to talk to her and find out where she is. Sophia then reveals to Melinda that she found out that Tate is not the father of her baby, which shocks her.

Aaron asks Tate if he’s sure he’s not the father of Sophia’s baby. Tate confirms there was a DNA test and everything. Tate says he never thought to question it and just took Sophia’s word for it which in hindsight was dumb. Aaron points out that Sophia told him that he was the only person she had been with. Tate says he didn’t have to believe her but it never even occurred to him that she could have hooked up with somebody else. Tate recalls them being careful when they were together but it never occurred to him that he might not be the father. Aaron asks if they know who the real father is. Tate says Sophia is not answering his calls, so his guess is as good as his. Tate then asks if Aaron has a guess. Aaron reveals he has a pretty good one, so Tate asks who he thinks it is. Aaron then shockingly suggests himself.

Paulina goes home and questions what is going on between Abe and Theo. Abe reveals that Theo has just told him that he accepted the job as CEO at DiMera Enterprises and that Paulina backed him up on it. Theo tells her that Abe is now pissed at both of them.

Tate can’t believe that Aaron hooked up with Sophia. Aaron explains that he actually liked Sophia and he thought they were going to be together, but then everything happened with his mom and he had to leave town. Tate argues that he had a phone and questions why he didn’t tell him that he had sex with Sophia after finding out she was pregnant. Aaron argues that he did text Sophia the minute he found out and asked if there was any chance he was the father, but Sophia told him it was impossible as the dates didn’t line up. Tate angrily questions Aaron not telling anyone else and just taking her word for it. Aaron insists that he didn’t think that Sophia had any reason to lie to him but guesses he should’ve said something to Tate. Aaron asks Tate not to be mad at him and guesses he didn’t know if he could handle it back then, so he needed it to be true. Tate says he’s trying to understand that Aaron was going through a lot, but asks if he has any idea what this was like to him to be thinking he was a father all this time. Tate talks about it damn near ruining things with he and Holly while he thought he’d never get a chance to say goodbye to a baby that wasn’t even his. Aaron wishes he could go back and make it right but knows it’s kind of late for that. Aaron points out that there’s a chance that Sophia hooked up with somebody else so the baby might not even be his, but if she didn’t then he might be a dad.

Arianna asks Holly who the father of Sophia’s child if not Tate. Holly says that’s the burning question and they can’t ask Sophia since she dropped off the face of the Earth. Arianna mentions that Sophia said she was sick today. Holly guesses she’s lying low after all her schemes blew up. Arianna says that Sophia is her friend, but after everything she’s done, she’s not defending that. Holly declares that once she finds Sophia, she will wish she never messed with her.

Melinda questions Sophia revealing that Tate’s not the father. Sophia swears she really thought he was and that she was so sure because of the timing and she had a feeling. Melinda questions her going with a feeling even though she obviously slept with someone else. Sophia guesses Melinda isn’t on her side and is fed up with her. Melinda says she’s just baffled how she could make such a foolish decision. Sophia cries that Melinda must hate her like everyone else does. Melinda says she cares about her and that’s why she’s trying to help her. Melinda asks how she found out that Tate is not the father. Sophia explains that Sarah told her that Tate’s DNA was not a match for Tesoro. Melinda asks if she’s talked to anyone else about this. Sophia says no but that Sarah told her she needed to tell the truth to Tate and the real father. Sophia brings up that Melinda is a lawyer and argues that they can’t legally make her do that. Melinda says the way the situation is unraveling with Holly, she doesn’t know how long this secret is going to last since too many people know and are asking questions. Sophia questions Melinda suddenly being so negative when she’s supposed to be her lawyer and help her. Melinda responds that she is her lawyer but she’s also worried about her, so the best legal advice she can give her is to just hurry up and expose the truth before someone else does it for her. Sophia questions Melinda wanting her to come clean too. Melinda repeats that she cares about her and she is on her side like she always has been. Sophia complains that Melinda isn’t on her side and is giving up on her. Sophia declares that she will deal with this on her own and doesn’t need Melinda’s help anymore. Sophia tells her to forget she ever came as she walks out of the office, leaving Melinda upset.

Johnny finishes a call with Sophia’s mom and tells Chanel that she hasn’t heard from Sophia either and had no idea that she called in sick. Chanel wonders if Sophia is actually home sick and decides there’s only one way to find out.

Paulina is shocked as Theo never mentioned that the job he was taking was CEO of the entire company. Theo explains that Tony wanted to wait until it was official before saying anything. Paulina then excitedly congratulates Theo and hugs him while Abe glares on, disapprovingly.

Aaron apologizes to Tate. Tate says he understands and apologizes too, saying that Sophia lied to both of them so it’s not his fault. Tate hugs Aaron and then Holly arrives. Holly tells Tate that she caught Arianna up to speed on everything and asks if there’s any update on Sophia. Tate says she was supposed to work but called in sick. Holly figures she must be hiding out and coming to terms with her actions. Aaron says she’s not the only one as he reveals to Holly that he just found out he might be a dad.

Johnny and Chanel walk through the town square as Johnny complains that he has no idea where else to look since Sophia is not at home, work, or school, and wonders where else she could be.

Sophia comes home, wondering what she’s going to do when she gets a call from her mom, who informs her that Johnny called and said she called in sick. Sophia claims she will let him know when she’s feeling better and she has to go as she quickly hangs up.

Theo appreciates Paulina’s support but says maybe it’s best he just stay somewhere else considering how Abe feels about his job. Paulina asks where else he would go. Theo responds that the DiMera Mansion is always an option but Abe says absolutely not. Abe asks to have a word with Paulina alone, so Theo exits. Abe then questions what the hell Paulina was thinking by telling Theo to take this job. Paulina argues that she didn’t tell him to take anything but feels he should be proud of Theo because he took the job to turn the company around and she believes he will. Paulina praises Abe while Abe says he doesn’t need her to tell him that. Paulina says she doesn’t have to bite her head off for complimenting his son. Abe apologizes but says that Paulina has never lived in the world of the DiMeras and that what EJ did as district attorney was only the tip of the iceberg. Abe complains that the DiMeras turned his late first wife Lexie in to someone he didn’t recognize. Abe guarantees that Lexie is turning over in her grave.

Melinda calls Sophia but she ignores it. Melinda leaves a voicemail, saying she knows she’s in a very bad place and she’s sorry she’s going through this, but to call her if she needs anything. Melinda states that she’s done everything she can to protect her, so she hopes Sophia protects her too.

Sophia begins packing her clothes in a bag.

Chanel tells Johnny that they will have to figure out where Sophia is later since they have to get to work. Arianna arrives and tells them that Holly just filled her in on the Sophia stuff and sending those photos. Arianna says she can’t believe it. Johnny wishes they could find Sophia and talk to her. Arianna remarks that half of Salem is on the hunt for Sophia Choi.

Holly complains that Sophia can’t get away with this, bringing up all the people that she has affected with her lies. Holly shouts that Sophia owes them all some answers. Aaron questions why she would tell these lies anyway, why she left the baby at the fire house, and why she’d lie about the adoption. Tate wishes he knew. Holly remarks that Sophia can’t hide forever and will have to show her face sooner or later.

Sophia packs her bag and leaves home.
