Liam sits with Julie in the town square and thanks her for taking over his tutoring from Abe. Julie says she’s glad to help and that no matter the mistakes he made, he deserves another chance. Julie talks about how the literacy program can improve his life if he puts the work in. Arianna walks by and sits on the bench nearby. Liam assures Julie that he will put the work in, so she passes him a book as Arianna looks over at them and hides a smile.

Belle joins Brady at his apartment and says she really likes the place. Brady says he was lucky to find it and calls it a great location, being across from Rachel’s school and close to Marlena and Belle. Belle asks how Rachel is adjusting. Brady says she’s better now and thinks she’s very happy. Belle says she’s glad to hear, then asks if Kristen is behaving herself. Brady responds that Kristen has been away, taking care of her mother so it’s been quiet on that front. Kristen then comes home and announces she’s back.

Leo complains to Dimitri that he ruined everything as it was the first time he had talked to Javi in two months. Dimitri swears he had no idea Javi was on the phone or he wouldn’t have made a sound. Leo still blames himself for lying Javi and feels he betrayed him. Dimitri thinks Leo is being dramatic and suggests it being for the best. Dimitri reminds Leo that they are about to embark on a mission that is life or death, but he’s hearing now that it’d be best if he goes alone but Leo refuses. Leo declares that he just lost the love of his life, so he’s not going to lose Dimitri too.

Kristen remarks that Brady looks like he’s seen a ghost and mocks the warm welcome. Brady asks how her mom is doing. Kristen says as well as one could expect and she spent time updating her will now that Peter is no longer with them. Belle acknowledges it must have been hard for both of them. Kristen confirms that it was and says she’s going to check on Rachel but Belle stops her and says since they are both here, she thinks they should talk about the upcoming hearing.

Julie presents Liam with the book “Okay For Now” by Gary Schmidt as one of her favorites. Liam looks it over and notes that it looks hard. Julie encourages that they will tackle it together and she’s here to get him through it. Liam asks what Julie has heard about him. Julie says just what she’s heard from Abe, that he’s made a few wrong decisions but he’s a hard worker and devoted father. Liam asks if Abe also told her that he was involved in kidnapping Theo and the DiMeras. Liam swears he’s not an evil person and he had no idea what the job was about. Julie admits that Abe wasn’t keen on her taking him on, but she has a soft spot in her heart for people who make poor choices because she made so many herself. Liam spots Arianna and they smile at one another. Julie notices and turns around to see who he is smiling at.

Dimitri complains that it sounds like Leo is calling Javi the love of his life while he’s just the consolation prize. Leo says he just doesn’t want Dimitri to die. Leo insists that he said he would be Dimitri’s lookout, so he will be. Leo goes over how Vivian and Ivan go to pay their respects at Stefan’s grave and when they do, Dimitri will go to the house to question the staff and grab his belongings while he keeps a lookout to let him know when it’s time to get out, assuring it will be no problem.

One of Vivian’s staff members at the house communicates over the phone with Klaus, who is now in Salem. She tells him that security says Dimitri is approaching while Vivian is still at the cemetery and asks what to do. Klaus instructs her to let him in because keeping him out would just make him more suspicious. He tells her to lull Dimitri in to a false sense of security which she says is her specialty. She asks if he will then take care of him. Klaus responds that it won’t be him as he has a loose end to tie up in Salem, but he assures that Dimitri and Leo won’t be leaving alive.

Leo dresses up as a woman and goes to the cemetery, asking himself how he went from almost married at the altar to this. Leo practices getting in to character and looks around for Vivian and Ivan.

Dimitri arrives at Vivian’s estate and speaks with her staff member. She assumes he expects to see Vivian but she’s not home. She says he is welcome to have some tea but Dimitri passes. Dimitri then questions how she knows his name. She responds that he stayed there for months and questions him not remembering her.

Kristen questions Belle wanting to discuss the hearing and asks what if Rachel overhears them. Brady points out that Rachel is asleep while Belle says she would prefer to do it out of the office. Brady asks Kristen to hear her out while Kristen complains that they have gone over it enough. Belle argues that was before Kristen made the rash decision to pull Rachel out of Bayview.

Julie asks Liam about Arianna catching his eye. Liam admits she is really pretty. Julie then reveals that she is her cousin which Liam questions. Julie explains that her Grandfather is her first cousin, so she knows Arianna is not 21. Liam clarifies that he knows she’s over 18 as they met at a restaurant. Julie asks Liam to just not be distracted during their studies. Julie then goes to get them some coffee. Arianna then approaches Liam while Klaus hides nearby behind the bushes and watches Liam as he clutches his gun.

Kristen asks Brady to make sure Rachel’s door is closed. Brady assures that it is and she’s asleep. Kristen argues that she’s gone over so many times why she took Rachel out of Bayview. Belle says that what is relevant is that Kristen appear serious in court about Rachel’s treatment. Kristen says that Rachel has had daily sessions with Dr. Fuller, taking her meds, and doing everything she was doing in the asylum except she’s here where she belongs with her and she’s thriving. Brady admits that Rachel is happy here. Belle says she’s very glad to hear that. Kristen thinks the court would be happy too and adds that she voluntarily gave Brady joint custody too. Brady questions it being voluntary. Belle brings up them living under the same roof and presenting themselves as a happy family. Kristen calls it a brilliant idea while Belle calls it a sham that won’t hold up in court.

Arianna questions Liam not texting her. Liam insists that he was going to but he got busy. Arianna tells him not to worry about it and it seems fate has intervened anyways. Arianna asks how Liam knows Julie. Julie comes back over. Liam claims that he was just interviewing for a job at Julie’s book store. Julie goes along with it and claims she always asks in her interviews what their favorite books are, so Liam claims that Okay For Now is his favorite book. Arianna says it sounds familiar and then remembers to tell Julie happy birthday. Julie thanks her and says she’s really touched that she remembered. Arianna tells Julie that she hopes she has a wonderful day and she won’t interrupt Liam’s interview. They agree to see each other soon as Arianna walks away.

Dimitri says that he was never here as the woman introduces herself as Renata and asks how else she would know him if he wasn’t there. Dimitri argues that she could’ve been coached or searched his name, but assures that he’s prepared to offer her a massive amount of money to testify in court that he was never there. Dimitri asks if she’s too loyal or afraid of Vivian to tell the truth. Dimitri asks her to escort him upstairs so he can collect his belongings from the room they were planted. Renata claims to have no idea what he’s talking about but warns him to make himself scarce before Vivian returns from the cemetery as she would be displeased to see him there. Dimitri guesses she won’t let him grab her things then and decides he’ll just wait here until Vivian comes back from the cemetery then. Renata warns that’s not a good idea and orders him to leave. Dimitri responds that he’d rather stay and he won’t bother her doing whatever she needs to do. Renata repeats that she just ordered him to leave. Dimitri then agrees to leave but warns that he will definitely be back as he exits.

Leo remains at the cemetery in disguise. Leo comments on Stefan and Jake both being taken way too soon and then hears footsteps coming.

Kristen tells Belle that she doesn’t appreciate her condescending tone and comments on Belle being single while living with her mom. Brady questions Kristen thinking it’s a good idea to antagonize the district attorney. Belle argues that it won’t stop her from busting her ass for Rachel and Brady. Belle says Kristen can demean her but reminds her that she’s a damn good lawyer who knows how judges think. Belle remarks that some judge might fall for Kristen’s lies, but they drew the same judge from Johnny’s trial where Kristen blew in to court to confess, so she’s going to have a lot more questions than someone unfamiliar with the circumstances. Belle warns that the judge is tough and thorough, so she will know everything about Kristen’s custody battles and visits from CPS, so she will need to be on her best behavior, starting with not misrepresenting her domestic situation. Belle tells Kristen to just stick to the plan.

Julie tells Liam that’s enough for today and encourages that he’s making real progress. Liam thanks her for covering for him with Arianna. Julie suggests he be honest about his history if he plans to have a friendship with Arianna. Liam assures that he really likes Arianna and would never want to hurt her. Julie and Liam agree to meet at the same time next week as she then exits. Liam then goes back over to Arianna while Klaus hides nearby. Arianna asks if Liam got the job. Liam says that Julie said she’ll think about it. Arianna says she’ll put in a good word.

Leo puts on his act at the cemetery but it turns out to just be a gravedigger walking by with a shovel.

Dimitri remains at Vivian’s estate and disarms the security system and motion detectors. Dimitri then gets a text from Leo that there’s no sign of Vivian or Ivan and warns him to get out of there before they find him. Dimitri ignores the text and begins searching a drawer.

Kristen complains about Belle’s tone while Brady argues that Belle is trying to help and is on their side. Kristen argues that she should stop insulting her then and insists that she understands the plan better than anyone. Belle says she just felt compelled to spell it out more clearly that Kristen is just to walk in to the court room and recant her confession, then she will not berate the judge, stray from the testimony that they agreed to, or do anything that will cost her Rachel’s custody or freedom.

Liam asks what Arianna is working on. Arianna says it’s just a book that DiMera is going to be releasing soon. Liam questions her working at DiMera. Arianna explains that it’s an internship and she’s reading the book “One Rainy Afternoon” to decide how to best market it to socials. Liam comments that it looks interesting. Arianna assures that it is.

Dimitri continues searching through drawers at Vivian’s estate and ends up finding something.

Belle asks Kristen if they are clear. Kristen says they are and she won’t do anything to screw this up, but warns that Belle better not either. Belle doesn’t think she’s the one anyone is worried about. Belle mentions to Brady that she heard Victoria was in the hospital and how that must be so hard for Sarah. Brady says it was but she’s doing better now. Belle tells Brady to give Sarah her best next time he sees her which she assumes will be very soon. Kristen decides she will go read Rachel a bedtime story. Brady reminds her that she’s already asleep. Kristen responds that she doesn’t care and storms out. Brady tells Belle that he’s sorry about that. Belle says she can handle Kristen as she’s used to her behavior. Belle apologizes for using Sarah as a cheap shot because she knew it would make her jealous. They talk about knowing Kristen can get under her skin. Brady thanks Belle for being so direct with Kristen because she doesn’t listen to him. Belle hopes it landed because they don’t need any surprises in court.

Leo rejoins Dimitri in their room and they talk about there being no sign of Vivian and Ivan at the cemetery or the home. Dimitri explains how Renata kicked him out but he snuck back in and disarmed the security system. Dimitri then reveals that he found a shipping label that was used to send all of his things to Vivian’s house with a return address which is a location he pinpointed as one of the places he could’ve been held. Dimitri declares that he just needs to go there and talk to the staff to prove he was setup and then they can go home.

Liam asks if Arianna spends her nights working overtime at an internship when she’s not at Small Bar. Arianna thought it would just be a good way to kill some time. Arianna then admits that her roommate and her boyfriend wanted to be alone tonight in their room. Liam then invites her to a movie which she accepts. They walk off together as Klaus watches on. Klaus then gets a call from Renata, who says she got rid of Dimitri but she’s still worried because Ivan and Vivian haven’t returned from the cemetery and when she tried to call Ivan, no one answered.

The gravedigger at the cemetery begins digging at Stefan’s grave.

In Alamainia, Leo and Dimitri talk about being unable to sleep the night before and their nightmares. Leo says they need to focus on clearing Dimitri’s name so he can return to Salem as a free man. Dimitri agrees and goes to take a shower. Leo then sits down and gets a call from Javi.

Melinda goes to the DiMera Mansion to meet Gwen. Melinda says her message sounded urgent, so she assumes she wants to make a deal in her divorce with Dimitri. Gwen clarifies that she called her to be her divorce lawyer. Melinda says she can’t be serious since she’s already representing the opposing party and that would be highly unethical. Gwen asks when that’s ever stopped her.

Theo runs in to Gabi in the town square. Theo tells her that she looks great, then apologizes if that’s inappropriate. Gabi says she’ll never turn down a compliment. Theo says it feels great to be driving again and to be back in the land of the living…

In the lab, Paulina asks EJ what the hell is going on here. EJ tells her that her timing is fortuitous because there’s someone he’s finally ready to show her. EJ then opens the pod, revealing Lexie Carver, EJ’s half sister and Abe’s wife, who had passed away 14 years ago (now played by Nikki Crawford), leaving Paulina in total shock. Paulina asks how this is possible. EJ says it’s through the miracle of science. Paulina asks if she’s alive. EJ says in a manner of speaking.

Gabi asks what Theo is up to this evening. Theo says he just decided to go for a walk. Theo wants to remember to enjoy the simple stuff and invites Gabi to join him for a beer which she accepts.

Leo answers Javi’s call and asks how he is. Javi says he’s okay and asks him the same. Leo says he hasn’t been fine since Javi left and he misses him more than he could possibly say.

Melinda asks Gwen if insulting her is her big pitch. Gwen says she’s just saying this is a judgment free zone. Gwen brings up that they both used the same shady broker and suggests they work together. Melinda repeats that she’s already been hired by the opposing party. Gwen argues that Dimitri is a wanted man who ran off to Alamainia and he’s not coming back ever again. Melinda points out that he has family here. Gwen argues that his family despises him for his role in kidnapping them. Gwen adds that she’s sure Melinda would like the money, so she suggests she make the right move and work with her.

EJ explains to Paulina that Lexie was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in 2012 and when Stefano learned of it, he was beside himself and blamed himself for her illness. Paulina recalls hearing that Stefano was responsible. EJ says whether he was or not, he was determined to save her life but he was presumed dead when she succumbed to her illness, but he had already set a plan in motion. Paulina says she should’ve known Stefano did this. EJ continues that Stefano never believed in the finality of death and refused to accept Lexie being gone, so he had Dr. Rolf freeze her body. Paulina questions why bring her back now instead of right away. EJ explains that they couldn’t without curing her brain tumor first and at the time it was incurable, but now after many years, a breakthrough has presented itself. EJ declares that Stefano’s beloved Alexandra is on the verge of being resurrected.

Leo tells Javi that Rafe told him that his dad is doing well, which Javi confirms. Leo says he’s happy to hear that and really glad Javi called but surprised. Javi says he needed space and thanks Leo for giving that to him. Leo points out that he didn’t give him much choice but he knows what he means. Leo asks if Javi calling now means he doesn’t need that space anymore. Javi explains that when his dad was going through surgery, he had a long time in the waiting room and thought about how much he wished Leo was there with him. Leo says if he picked up the phone, he would’ve got on a plane. Javi says that was the problem because the more time he spent there, the more he missed Leo and his dad even picked up on it. Javi reveals that his dad told him that life is short and to not let go of love.

Gwen tells Melinda that the Von Leuschner fortune is right there and ready for the taking. Melinda argues that she has a signed contract with Dimitri. Gwen points out that he broke that contract by leaving Salem. Melinda admits she’s technically right, but the inheritance is legally his, so the best Gwen could do is half while right now she has zero and her assets are frozen. Gwen assumes Melinda had a part in making that happen. Melinda confirms that she does what’s best for her clients. Gwen wants that tenacity on her side. Melinda says she’s sure she does, but she’s broke and if she doesn’t win, she won’t get paid. Melinda declares that she’s not stupid enough to take that risk.

Theo and Gabi have beers in the town square as he asks how her fashion show went. Gabi says it did not go well, explaining that one of her models tripped over a stage light and almost fell off the cat walk. Theo comments on Gabi having a cool and creative job while he’s more of a numbers and code guy. Gabi says maybe that’s why they get along so well as they toast their drinks.

At the Brady Pub, Roman tells Abe that he checks his phone a thousand times a day, hoping for good news about Stephanie. Roman asks if Paulina is waiting for him at home. Abe says that she is and that she was in the mood for Shepherd’s pie which Abe recalls was always Lexie’s go to for comfort food. Abe remarks that Paulina and Lexie are so different, but both very wonderful in their own ways, so he’s a lucky man that got to love them both.

Paulina realizes this is the secret project that EJ has been working on and why the power has been draining from the rest of the hospital and half of the businesses in town. EJ guesses she could understand. Paulina calls it criminal and threatens to shut him down. EJ says it’s certainly in her authority to shut down Dr. Rolf’s experiments or her other option is to turn around and pretend she never saw this, allowing them to continue bringing Lexie back to life.

Gabi tells Theo that she doesn’t think working at DiMera is just numbers and code, adding that it does take creativity, then jokes that you also need a bulletproof vest and a crash helmet. Theo guesses fixing problems is a creative endeavor and that they have more in common than they think. Gabi reminds Theo that when Stephanie is safe, maybe they can redo their double date at the Pub with Jada and Philip which Theo says sounds good.

Leo tells Javi that he’s relieved to hear that he hasn’t given up on him because he thought he lost him for good and that’s not a reality he wants to live in. Javi says he’s glad to hear that. Leo questions him having doubt. Javi reminds him that he said he couldn’t ask him to wait around for him. Leo assures that he did wait. Javi adds that he also asked if Leo could be fully all in on their relationship and if he would ever be over Dimitri. Javi says he’s not calling to pressure him, but it has been two months.

Gwen thought Melinda had more faith in herself. Melinda responds that she has plenty of faith in herself, but not in Gwen, as this could be a scheme to get her disbarred and tank Dimitri’s case. Gwen argues that Dimitri doesn’t have a case because he’s stuck in Alamainia and if he came back, they’d just throw him in prison. Gwen complains that she’s not asking Melinda to break the law, but to walk away from a deal that can no longer be honored. Melinda argues that her time is limited and valuable, so she only takes on clients who have the means to make it worth it. Gwen says she may not have the money now, but she will very soon. Melinda says that’s if she wins, unless there’s something she’s not telling her. Gwen warns that if Melinda walks away from this, she’ll be making a really big mistake and an enemy. Melinda responds that she’ll take her chances as she’d rather have Gwen as an enemy than Dimitri. Melinda officially declines Gwen’s offer and tells her to go find another attorney as she exits the mansion, leaving Gwen frustrated.

Paulina tells EJ not to put this on her. EJ argues that she put it on herself by sticking her nose where he told her she had no business being and judging him for the beautiful, life affirming thing he’s doing. Paulina argues that it’s more like macabre and ghoulish. Paulina calls EJ a careless bastard with a heart of stone and argues that this is not an act of love for his sister or his father. Paulina accuses EJ of planning to take this technology and sell it on the black market. EJ says she sees the vision while Paulina calls him someone with no decency. EJ argues that decency doesn’t pay the bills. Paulina asks what if it doesn’t work. EJ insists that Lexie will wake up. Paulina asks what if she wakes up and she’s not herself. EJ says Paulina likes to pass judgment on him and his family, but he knows that Paulina is thinking this is the love of Abe’s life and her awakening would change everything for her. EJ states that if Paulina wants to pull the plug, he can’t stop her, but questions if she’s really willing to play God with Lexie’s life.

Theo finishes his beer and points out that Gabi barely touched her beer. Gabi responds that she’s more of a tequila and soda girl, so she thought she’d try a beer but she can’t stand the taste. Theo asks why she didn’t say anything. Gabi says it sounded good when he said it and she likes to mix things up. Theo says he likes routine and asks if that makes him boring but Gabi says no. Gabi feels it is good to have a little chaos but Theo feels he’s had enough of that in his life. Gabi suggests variety instead of chaos which Theo says is doable. Theo says he should get going since Abe picked up food from the Pub. Gabi jokes about him having a curfew. Theo explains that Abe worries and has been even more since the kidnapping. Gabi relates to feeling that with Arianna. Theo says he can tell she’s a good mom. Gabi states that Arianna thinks she’s overprotective but that’s just the way she is. Gabi thanks Theo for the beer and jokes that next time they can have tequila. Gabi tells Theo that it was nice running in to him and that next time, she wants a ride in his convertible. Theo says anytime as he then walks away.

Leo tells Javi that he loves him more than he ever has. Leo looks back at the bathroom door where Dimitri is showering and tries to leave the room, saying he wants to go somewhere quieter but he starts losing signal so he has no choice but to stay in the room. Javi mentions that Rafe told him that Leo was out of town, but felt like he didn’t want to tell him where he was or why. Leo claims that he is working on a story with a confidential source. Javi asks if he’s anywhere interesting. Leo reveals that he’s in Eastern Europe and says the story is about whether or not Stefan DiMera is really dead. Dimitri then comes out from the shower, asking Leo if he’s seen his phone and asks who he’s talking to as Leo tries to keep him quiet.

Roman asks Abe if he’s okay or if it’s still about the Lexie thing. Abe admits he’s been thinking about Lexie a lot lately and guesses it started when Theo took the CEO job at DiMera. Roman knows Abe had a lot of doubts about it. Abe says his fears were realized. Roman knows how Abe felt when Stefano came back in to Lexie’s life. Abe says this brought him right back to those terrible times and her death. Roman asks if Abe talked to Theo about it. Abe confirms that a few weeks ago, they brought out old family photo albums and home movies. Abe mentions a video that Lexie made before she died where she was so worried that Theo would forget her. Abe apologizes for getting emotional and then says that Paulina has healed him in so many ways and he loves being married to her, but admits Lexie is still in his heart.

Paulina tells EJ that she is not God and neither is he. EJ responds that even God took seven days to create the world, so maybe she should take just one to think this through. EJ warns that if Paulina does decide to keep Abe from his dearly departed wife and Theo from his sainted mother, he’d hate for them to find out it was her who stopped this miracle from happening. Paulina responds that miracles don’t come from the devil and runs out of the lab as EJ clutches his hand with Stefano’s ring on. EJ tells Lexie that he knows Paulina will make the right choice because she has to.

Melinda runs in to Gabi in the town square. Gabi asks if she has a minute because she’s been meaning to reach out with a question about Stefan. Gabi explains her belief that the divorce papers were forged. Melinda confirms that she didn’t see Stefan deliver them so it is possible they were tampered with. Gabi mentions the FBI wanting more handwriting samples and she doesn’t know if they will ever get a clear answer. Melinda calls that a hell of a twist. Gabi states that she is happy in her new relationship with Philip but Stefan will always be in her heart. Gabi adds that if it’s possible that she’s not just Stefan’s ex-wife, but his widow, then she would have a claim to his inheritance.

Gwen angrily finishes a call trying to find a lawyer. EJ then comes home and pours a drink as Gwen asks where he’s been. Gwen mentions meeting with Melinda since EJ never got her a divorce lawyer like he promised. EJ informs her that no one wants to take her case. Gwen doesn’t know why they all think she’s an idiot going against the DiMeras and going to lose. EJ asks where they’d get that idea. Gwen argues that Dimitri is a fugitive but EJ cuts her off and screams that he doesn’t care about Melinda or Gwen’s divorce. Gwen questions what his problem is. EJ then reveals that Paulina knows everything.

Abe goes home to Theo and says they should wait for Paulina before eating. Theo asks about Stephanie but Abe says there’s unfortunately no word. Paulina then comes home and greets them. Abe notices she’s emotional and asks if she’s okay. Paulina claims she’s fine, then admits she went to confront EJ.

Javi questions Leo who that was. Leo claims it was the TV, but Javi tells him not to lie to him and asks if he’s with Dimitri now. Leo says he can explain but Javi tells him not to and says no wonder he was surprised to hear from him. Javi takes it that all his talk about waiting for him was all lies. Leo tries to explain but Javi says goodbye and hangs up on him. Dimitri whispers to Leo that he’s sorry. Leo says not as sorry as he is.

Gabi asks Melinda what she thinks. Melinda confirms that if Gabi was still legally married to Stefan when he died, it would change everything, but questions if she really wants to go there. Melinda points out that Gabi finally got out from the DiMera family and asks if she really wants to jump back in to battle with them. Gabi agrees that she finally wrestled Gabi Chic away from them, so she doesn’t want another war with them. Gabi adds that she doesn’t even care about the money as she has plenty, but feels Stefan got screwed, so she’s not going to sit back while the same snakes who betrayed him cash in on his legacy. Gabi declares that his memory deserves so much better than this. Melinda says she hears her but unless she has solid proof that the divorce wasn’t legal, then there’s nothing she can do. Gabi says that’s what she figured and thanks her for being straight with her. Melinda tells her to take care as she then walks away. Gabi then gets a call from Javi. Gabi says she’s so glad to hear his father is doing better and asks how he’s doing. Javi reveals that he spoke to Leo and questions why no one told him that Leo was away with Dimitri. Gabi informs Javi that Dimitri got busted for being apart of the DiMera kidnappings and that Leo helped him escape. Javi asks if they’re now on the run together. Gabi insists that she wanted to tell him but Rafe said it wasn’t their place. Javi says that now he knows and whatever he and Leo had is now over. Gabi tells him that she’s really sorry. Javi acknowledges that they all warned him and now he can finally move on. Gabi tells Javi that he deserves so much better than Leo as he’s a great guy who will be with someone who makes him happier and deserves him.

Dimitri questions why Leo would call Javi. Leo clarifies that Javi called him to give him a second chance and he blew it by letting him down again. Leo says maybe Javi was right about him not being the right guy for him and that he should just let him go. Leo complains that he loves Javi and doesn’t want to hurt him again.

EJ reveals to Gwen that Paulina saw Lexie. Gwen asks how he could let that happen. EJ argues that he didn’t have a choice as she was getting too close, so it was only a matter of time before she brought a task force to shut them down. EJ says it was the only chance he had to talk to her one on one and go on the offensive to try to force her hand. EJ remarks that he practically begged Paulina to pull the plug. Gwen is shocked, pointing out that Paulina is married to Lexie’s husband. EJ says no matter how worried Paulina might be about what it will do to her marriage, he doesn’t believe she would want Lexie’s blood on her hands. Gwen asks what if he’s wrong. EJ says they would move on to other subjects and set up shop elsewhere. Gwen questions if he would let Lexie die. EJ responds that God took Lexie away from them a long time ago, so he, Abe, and Theo already said their goodbyes. EJ remarks that it would be a loss, but no matter what, the work must continue.

Theo offers to talk to EJ for Paulina but she says no, so Theo goes to keep the food warm. Abe asks if Paulina is okay. Paulina repeats that she’s fine. Abe asks if she found out what EJ is doing in the secret lab of his. Paulina then claims that she didn’t.

Abe, Paulina, Kayla, and Roman sit together at the Brady Pub. Abe finishes a call with his nephew Jett, who used to work at the airlines with Jeremy. Abe notes that Jett mentioned a hangar at the airport as somewhere that Jeremy could’ve taken Stephanie, so Kayla decides to call Steve.

At the hospital, EJ thanks Cat for all her hard work. Cat says the busier she is, the faster the day goes. EJ hates thinking about Stephanie waiting to be found, assuming she hasn’t been hurt or worse. Cat hopes the reward he put up will be incentive for someone to come forward soon. EJ knows the police have been flooded with tips.

Steve and Jada read through tips at the police station until Steve gets a call from Kayla, who says she has a tip. Kayla informs Steve that Abe was talking to his nephew Jett, who told him that he and Jeremy used to use a private hangar at the airport so maybe he has Stephanie there. Kayla says she will text him the address. Steve says they will check it out and promises they will find Stephanie soon.

Owen joins Dr. Rolf at the lab and asks if there’s anything particular he needs him to do tonight. Dr. Rolf says there is and that it’s crucial he handles it with extreme care or all their hard work could go to waste. Dr. Rolf instructs Owen to watch the sensors like a hawk as when the process is complete, brain activity will resume and their guest will return to the land of the living. Dr. Rolf says this could happen tonight and if so, he needs to call him immediately. Dr. Rolf tells Owen that this will need all of his focus tonight with no distractions. Owen tells him that he can count on him. Dr. Rolf says he hates to leave but he needs sustenance and can’t survive on just caffeine. Dr. Rolf throws away his soda can, but then finds Stephanie’s wedding ring in the trash and questions what that is.

Stephanie and Jeremy remain tied up, handcuffed to their chairs, and gagged.

EJ tells Cat that she did excellent work in filling Stephanie’s shoes to handle the hospital PR. Cat is happy to do what she can as she knows how hard it is on everyone. EJ invites Cat out to dinner as a token of appreciation. Cat doesn’t want him to think she expects special rewards for doing her job. EJ feels she went above and beyond, so he would like to express his gratitude. Cat calls it a very kind offer and accepts.

Paulina says she has to get going on city business. Paulina tells Kayla that she prays Stephanie will be brought home soon. Paulina tells Abe that she will see him at home and exits the Pub. Roman tells Kayla that Shane has got the ISA working on this day and night. Roman adds that Hope and Bo have leads being checked out as they speak. Abe encourages that they have the best of the best looking for Stephanie. Kayla notes that includes her husband.

Jada tells Steve that she has Shawn and JJ leading a search at the airport as they look through the tips coming in. Jada mentions having the incentives in the reward money put up by Titan and EJ. Jada encourages Steve that a lot of people are out there looking for his daughter. Steve complains that he’s tired of asking if this will be the call. Steve then gets a call from Chad, who thinks he might have something.

Dr. Rolf questions Owen as to what the wedding ring is doing in the trash. Owen claims he got it for his girlfriend and was going to propose, but he chickened out. Dr. Rolf questions him just throwing it in the trash. Owen claims it was cheap. Dr. Rolf says it doesn’t look cheap and that he’s never spoke of any girlfriend. Owen insists that he has one, she’s very beautiful, and claims they’ve been together since 2009. Dr. Rolf questions why he chickened out of proposing then. Owen claims it’s complicated and he doesn’t want to bore him with the details. Dr. Rolf doesn’t understand and says if they’ve been together so long, they should be ready for a lifetime commitment and urges that they can work through whatever complications they have. Dr. Rolf says he’s captivated by matters of the heart. Owen is surprised to learn that he’s a romantic. Dr. Rolf suggests at least pawning the ring since it has to be worth something. Dr. Rolf encourages Owen and then exits the lab. Owen smiles and then leaves to return to Stephanie and Jeremy. Owen says he will take the gags off, but warns that they will regret doing anything stupid. Jeremy tells Owen that Stephanie is cold, thirsty, exhausted and scared while he’s just really pissed off. Jeremy asks what is wrong with Owen and if this is how he shows a woman he loves her. Owen argues that she didn’t want the water he offered. Jeremy says she thought he was going to drug her. Owen says he would never do that which Jeremy mocks.

Paulina goes to the hospital and runs in to EJ and Cat, saying EJ is just who he wanted to see. EJ says they were just on their way out. Paulina stops him and says she’s here to search the hospital for whatever energy he’s been stealing and he’s going to help her do that. EJ thought they agreed to handle that next week. Paulina says surprise, it’s going to be handled right now.

Steve thanks Chad and hangs up, informing Jada that Thomas found a phone in the school hallway yesterday and gave it to Jeremy right before he made a run for it. Jada questions why they are just now hearing about it. Steve explains that Thomas thought the phone belonged to another student, but the phone case said “SJPR” so it was Stephanie’s.

Stephanie wakes up in her chair, so Owen asks if she slept well. Stephanie thinks back to planning with Jeremy to talk Owen in to letting him go by playing in to his delusion. Stephanie then tells Owen that she did sleep well and claims she had a really sweet dream about him.

EJ says Paulina is accusing him of theft again with no proof. Paulina brings up the findings of the power intake from the hospital and that it’s increased an insane amount that has been siphoned off from nearby businesses which EJ calls a coincidence. Paulina reveals there’s more and says that the meters that monitor the electricity use showed it was coming from EJ’s free clinic.

Jada tells Steve that the case against Jeremy is getting stronger by the minute. Steve feels something’s not right about this, pointing out that Jeremy would have kidnapped Stephanie after leaving the school since he was there all day prior to that with a cop watching him. Steve questions how Stephanie’s phone would’ve gotten there before he escaped. Jada wonders if he had an accomplice.

Owen questions Stephanie dreaming about him. Stephanie claims that they were so in love and she knows she’s been upset with him, but the dream really affected her and stirred up feelings in her that she didn’t know she had for him. Stephanie says it made her sorry that she was so hard on him. They get interrupted by Owen’s phone ringing. Owen says he has to go but assures he’ll be back as soon as he can. Owen tells Stephanie that she’s made him so happy as he exits. Stephanie explains to Jeremy that she was feeding in to Owen’s delusions as she wasn’t going to let Owen kill him and then drag her off when his plan ends. Jeremy asks about Stephanie’s plan. Stephanie says she’s working on it. Jeremy suggests they work on it together.

Owen goes back to the lab and calls Dr. Rolf, announcing they have signs of life in their patient.

EJ tells Paulina that there is a perfectly logical and obvious explanation for the power increase and it’s because the free clinic is new after being empty for months. Paulina knows it makes sense, but it wouldn’t possibly be close to the amount being channeled in to the lab as it’s too damn high. EJ then gets a text from Dr. Rolf that says “She’s waking up”.

Steve tells Jada that it doesn’t make sense for Jeremy to have an accomplice since Marlena did a profile on him and he had become quite the loner. Steve calls it a crime of passion, so he questions why he’d bring someone else along and says his gut tells him it’s not likely. Jada asks if he has any other ideas. Steve responds that if Jeremy didn’t have an accomplice, the only other possibility is that Jeremy’s not the stalker and he didn’t kidnap Stephanie.

Stephanie tells Jeremy that there has to be a way out that Owen didn’t think of. Jeremy doesn’t think so since Owen is nuts, but methodical. Stephanie suggests convincing Owen to let them out of the handcuffs. Jeremy feels he would only free one of them. Stephanie brings up the voices they heard earlier and how someone has to be out there. Stephanie points out that Owen forgot to put their gags back on, so if they hear another person, they need to scream like their lives depend on it. Stephanie decides in the meantime, they have to keep trying to get out of the handcuffs themselves. Stephanie remembers doing research for her novel and that there’s a way to dislocate your own thumb. Jeremy agrees that it can’t hurt to try. Stephanie says it will hurt, but no pain, no gain. Stephanie says she’ll explain how to do it while Jeremy stops her and says to let him do it instead of them both hurting themselves.

Paulina asks if EJ is going to show her the lab or not. EJ says he’s sorry but he has to take care of something. Paulina doesn’t buy it and calls it a pathetic excuse. Paulina decides she’ll call the city manager who has been itching to shut down the lab. EJ pleads with her not to do that and to give him one minute. EJ tells Cat that he’s sorry as they’ll have to do this tomorrow morning. EJ tells Cat to have a good night. Cat says good night to Paulina as well and exits the hospital.

Dr. Rolf rushes in to join Owen in the lab and declares this is the moment they have been waiting for. Dr. Rolf then gets a text from EJ to move the pod, so he tells Owen that he needs his help right now.

Paulina asks EJ if he’s taking her on a tour of the lab or not. EJ responds that he has no choice, so he tells her to come with him. Paulina says to let her find the city manager so he can join them. EJ warns her not to do that and suggests she look inside herself before deciding to let someone else see what’s there.

Kayla finishes a call with her son Joey and tells Roman and Abe that she’s been filling he and Tripp on what’s been going on and they want to come help, but she knows they can’t do much. Kayla says it’s keeping her sane knowing so many people are trying to find Stephanie. Abe assures they would do anything for her and Steve. Kayla thanks them and says she couldn’t do it without them.

Jada tells Steve that it’s possible that someone planted Stephanie’s phone at the school to frame Jeremy. Steve calls it likely. They suggest maybe Thomas wasn’t supposed to find it and if they found it later, they would’ve assumed Jeremy dropped it after the kidnapping so they still don’t know when this son of a bitch made his move. Jada thinks they are grasping at straws since the evidence against Jeremy is overwhelming. Steve feels it may be too overwhelming.

Jeremy instructs Stephanie to talk him through dislocating his thumb until the door opens, so they try to scream for help but it’s just Owen returning. Owen says it was a nice try as he puts the gags back on them. Owen jokes that if they keep screaming like that, they might actually wake the dead…

EJ brings Paulina to the lab and says this should answer all her questions. Paulina is shocked to see Dr. Rolf inside and questions someone being in the pod in the room. Paulina asks who the hell it is.

Jeremy and Stephanie remain struggling with being handcuffed and gagged.

Kayla reveals to Abe and Roman that Alex and Stephanie eloped on Valentine’s Day. Kayla says that they planned to throw a big wedding celebration for all family and friends. Roman insists that they better do that and they will all be there to celebrate.

Jeremy moves his chair closer to Stephanie and holds her hand.

Steve tells Jada that it’s hard to believe so much evidence could lead them to the wrong conclusion. Jada brings up the website and wedding gift were bought with a prepaid credit card. Steve brings up the video from Halloween when the stalker almost stabbed Alex. Jada pulls up the video and they go over it. Steve points out that the mask means it could be somebody else. Jada wonders who.

Cat walks past the Brady Pub, on the phone with Rafe, and tells him about Paulina grilling EJ about the lab. Cat says they definitely have to follow up on this and hangs up. Cat then heads in to the Pub as Owen walks by behind. Owen stops when he sees the missing persons flyer on the wall of Jeremy and Stephanie.

EJ asks Dr. Rolf to excuse them. Dr. Rolf hopes he knows what he’s doing. EJ assures that he does so Dr. Rolf exits. Paulina asks EJ what the hell is going on here. EJ tells her that her timing is fortuitous because there’s someone he’s finally ready to show her. EJ then opens the pod, revealing Lexie Carver, EJ’s half sister and Abe’s wife, who had passed away 14 years ago (now played by Nikki Crawford), leaving Paulina in total shock.

Brady and Rachel exit the Brady Pub as he asks her about school. Rachel says she’s glad to have her teacher back from maternity leave, especially since Mr. Horton is a kidnapper. Brady tells her they don’t know that yet as everyone’s innocent until proven guilty. Brady says they just have to hope that Stephanie is found safe. Rachel assures that she is hoping and praying as she calls it so horrible that she’s missing. Brady suggests Rachel talk to Dr. Fuller about it which she agrees to do. Rachel asks if they can say hi to Sarah while they are at the hospital. Brady agrees that would be nice but he doesn’t think she’s working today. Brady then gets a text.

At Bayview, Sophia boxes up the bottle of pills addressed to Rachel to give to Holly. Melinda then arrives and asks why she’s been blowing up her phone. Sophia says she hasn’t responded to any of her texts. Melinda reminds her that she does have a life and other clients. Sophia says she’s sorry if she was impatient but asks if Melinda did what she asked and found a way to contest Johnny and Chanel adopting her baby.

Chanel and Johnny eat together in the town square. Chanel wants to get to their appointment with the specialist. She guesses Johnny is nervous and knows it sounds scary, but says they just have to take extra precaution because of last time and after it’s over, they can both rest easier knowing everything is fine. Tate and Holly walk through the town square after buying a pregnancy test. Tate wants to figure out a place for her to take it and says they will just wait until they know one way or the other.

Xander and Sarah watch over Victoria at the hospital. Xander says he’s so grateful to Maggie for holding down the fort at Titan so he could stay there and asks if Sarah is sure Victoria will be okay. Sarah assures that she should be back to herself in no time. Sarah gets emotional over seeing Victoria in distress as Xander hugs her. Sarah apologizes as she doesn’t want to worry him and assures that Victoria will be fine, so she doesn’t know why she’s falling apart like this. Xander says she doesn’t have to explain as he knows exactly how she feels.

Melinda tells Sophia that she never agreed to help her contest the adoption and she told her why she didn’t think it was a good idea which Sophia said she understood. Sophia understands that Melinda doesn’t agree with what she thinks is best for her child. Sophia complains that Melinda isn’t on her side anymore. Melinda assures that she always is, so Sophia tells her to help her then. Melinda argues that even if she did agree to help, Sophia forfeited her parental rights when she left the baby at the fire station months ago, so she has no legal right to the child and Aaron signed away his parental rights too, so any avenue they could pursue would be a long shot. Sophia argues that everything in her life has been a long shot and asks Melinda to please fight for her. Melinda tells her that she has her whole life ahead of her, so she should stop worrying about things that won’t help her recovery and focus on the future. Sophia complains that this is about her baby having the future he deserves and she knows that’s not with Johnny and Chanel.

Holly and Tate talk about where to take the pregnancy test. Tate says that no one’s home at Brady’s apartment. They then run in to Johnny and Chanel. Tate asks about Trey. Johnny says he’s great and is at home with the sitter. Chanel then announces Trey will be having a little brother or sister too. Tate and Holly congratulate them. Holly asks how Chanel is feeling. Chanel says she’s exhausted but thrilled and is glad the morning sickness is over while now she’s moved on to the always hungry stage which causes Holly to think back to telling Sarah and Maggie about her hunger. Chanel comments to Johnny about having to deal with her being so moody. Holly says they have to go as she and Tate congratulate them again and hurry off.

Melinda tells Sophia that she understands Johnny put her in a very difficult spot when he backed out of the initial adoption, but he has proven himself since then so she doesn’t see what the problem is. Sophia argues that Johnny is not a good person and she knows now that Chanel is pregnant, Johnny will lose interest in Trey once his biological child is born. Melinda asks if they are really going there again. Sophia calls it the truth. Melinda questions why having another child will have any bearing on Trey. Sophia argues that he will become an afterthought to Johnny and Chanel once their own flesh and blood is born. Melinda tells Sophia that they’ve been through a lot together, she cares about her and wants what’s best for her. Melinda insists that what is best for Sophia is to let go and move on. Sophia acknowledges that Melinda has been good to her for the most part, which is why she’d hate to tell the Bar about all unethical things she did to help her during her pregnancy.

Tate goes home with Holly to take the pregnancy test. Holly says she’s tired and needs some coffee but Brady comes home with Rachel, surprising them. Brady asks what they are doing there.

The specialist inform Johnny and Chanel that the pregnancy is going along normally and there’s been no increased risk. She asks if there are any other questions. Johnny doesn’t understand why all of their doctors made such a big deal about them waiting for Chanel to get pregnant again when everything seems fine so it feels like they freaked them out for no reason. She understands why he feels that way but says it wasn’t exactly for no reason.

Sarah tells Xander that she was touched by the sweet moment he shared with Victoria. Xander says it means a lot for him to be there. Sarah is starting to realize now how much Victoria misses her father. Xander responds that he misses her too, terribly. Sarah says now that things aren’t so fresh and raw after what happened between them, she’s starting to feel like she can’t keep him away from Victoria forever because it’s not fair to her or to him.

Tate says he’s just surprised Brady and Rachel are home so soon. Brady explains that Dr. Fuller had to cancel Rachel’s appointment due to some emergency and asks if they are there because they thought they would be gone. Tate claims they were just in the neighborhood while Holly claims she just had to use the bathroom. Rachel bets they were making out like they were last night. Brady tells Tate it’s his place too, so he’s welcome to come and go as he pleases. Brady mentions hearing from Sarah that Holly is rushing a sorority and asks how that’s going. Holly reveals that she didn’t get in. Rachel calls it their loss and says sororities are stupid anyway. Holly thanks her and agrees.

The specialist explains that the only reason that Chanel was advised to wait was that any tumor would’ve only been detected afterwards. She tells Chanel that her most recent ultrasound is very reassuring so they are not overly concerned. Chanel asks what her pregnancy developing normally actually means. She tells her that the baby is healthy and they have every reason to be optimistic.

Xander asks what Sarah is saying. Sarah thinks it’s time to revisit their custody agreement to amend it so that Xander has visitation rights. Sarah feels that’s what is best for all of them, especially Victoria. Xander agrees but asks what she wants in return. Sarah says just for him to continue therapy. Xander says that goes without saying and questions if she would want him to stop seeing Gwen. Sarah asks if that would be a deal breaker. Xander says it wouldn’t, but questions if that’s really what she’s asking him. Sarah says that would hardly be fair. Xander points out that’s because she’s not walking away from Brady. Sarah states that it’s not about anyone else but their daughter and her best interests. Xander asks if they should call their lawyers. Sarah says Justin is dealing with Stephanie missing, so maybe they should wait. Xander says he can call Melinda before she changes her mind. Sarah assures that she won’t change her mind as this is what’s best for their daughter, so she tells Xander to go ahead and call Melinda.

Melinda warns Sophia to think hard about backstabbing the only person who has been in her corner the entire time. Sophia guesses she shouldn’t have turned her back on her then. Melinda remarks that she’s really not the person she thought she was. Sophia asks if she thought she was poor, innocent, and helpless. Melinda didn’t think she was vindictive and spiteful. Melinda says she understood what it felt like to have an unwanted pregnancy. Melinda accuses Sophia of bluffing about calling the bar on her, when she wants people to believe she can’t talk. Sophia says she’ll make an exception. Melinda says she’ll tell the doctors that she has a phone. Sophia mocks that her only punishment would be not being able to go to the library while Melinda would be disbarred and never able to practice law again. Melinda then gets a call from Xander, asking if she has a minute to meet with he and Sarah because Sarah just told him that she’s willing to revisit the terms of their custody agreement. Melinda says that’s great news and says she’s free right now. Xander asks her to meet at the hospital since Victoria has pneumonia. Xander adds that she’s on the mend but they don’t want to leave her side. Melinda says she’ll be right there and hangs up, but Sophia stops her.

Brady suggests Rachel take advantage of this extra time and do her homework, so she goes to her room. Brady tells Tate and Holly that they are welcome here, but he needs them to be careful. Tate swears that’s not what they came for and Holly adds that they didn’t come just because they weren’t home. Tate knows Rachel saw them making out but they were just in the living room after she went to sleep. Brady understands he’s in college now but needs to say what he needs to say. Tate tells Brady that if he wants to give him the talk again, he assures he has nothing to worry about after everything with Sophia.

Melinda tells Sophia that she has a job to do for actual paying clients. Sophia adds that she has a job to do for her, considering what she stands to lose if she doesn’t. Melinda asks what she wants. Sophia calls it just a little favor and hands her the box, claiming it’s a gift for Rachel of her favorite candy because she misses her. Sophia asks Melinda to put it in the mail. Melinda reluctantly agrees as Sophia says she’ll be in touch while Melinda exits.

Brady assures Tate and Holly that he trusts them both and says he’ll get out of their hair. Brady goes to leave but Holly asks if he’s heard from Sarah since she’s been meaning to text her for an update on Victoria. Brady is unaware and asks what about Victoria. Holly reveals she’s in the hospital with pneumonia which shocks Brady. Holly adds that she thinks she’ll be okay but Sarah was freaked out. Tate tells Brady to go be with Sarah while they will stay with Rachel, so Brady then exits. They agree that was awkward as Holly says she’s now ready and goes to take the pregnancy test.

Johnny has the specialist confirm that if Chanel’s cancer did come back, they wouldn’t know until after the baby was born. She assures that they would watch for signs like cramping or bleeding. Johnny quickly points out that Chanel has had cramping which Chanel notes has been brief and not too intense. The specialist agrees to do a few more labs and another ultrasound as a precaution and exits the room as Johnny encourages Chanel that it will be okay.

Xander brings Sarah a coffee as she comments on being up all night. Sarah wishes she brought Victoria in right when she started coughing. Xander encourages that she got her the treatment she needs. Sarah agrees that all that matters is that she will be okay. Xander praises Sarah as a loving, caring mom and a great role model. Sarah thanks him as Xander says he thanks God every day that his daughter has an amazing mom. They watch over Victoria as she falls back to sleep. Xander thinks Sarah could use some rest too. Sarah says maybe later. Melinda arrives and says she’s sorry that their daughter is sick. Sarah says she’s on the mend. Xander thanks Melinda for coming so quickly. Melinda asks what exactly they have decided about the custody agreement.

Johnny and Chanel talk about their check up being informative and a lot. Johnny feels he has a bit better understanding of the situation. Chanel agrees and feels Dr. Crawford wouldn’t sugarcoat things. Chanel feels it’s worth the tiny risk for the huge joy the child will bring them which Johnny agrees with.

Rachel does her homework in her room when she gets a call from Sophia. Rachel questions why she hung up on her last night. Sophia says she had to hide her phone from the nurse. Sophia tells Rachel that she’s sending her the “vitamins” to give to Holly. Rachel argues that she never said for sure that she would give them to Holly. Sophia tells her not to be so suspicious and insists that Holly loves these things. Rachel questions why she can’t say they are from Sophia, feeling it’s awkward to just give them to her for no reason and worries Holly might think she’s obsessed with her. Sophia points out that Rachel doesn’t have to say it’s from her and could just slip it in her purse when she’s not looking which Rachel calls super weird. Sophia says she was just trying to do something nice for someone and figured after everything they’ve been through together, asking her to do one act of kindness wouldn’t be a big deal.

Xander and Sarah confirm the terms of their new custody agreement as Melinda says she’ll get it over to Justin to get filed right away. Xander thanks Melinda for taking care of it so soon. Melinda says they will talk soon and exits. Xander thanks Sarah and swears she will not regret this.

Tate and Holly wait on the pregnancy test results. Holly admits she’s really scared. Tate declares that no matter the result, they are in this together. Holly then says it’s time for the moment of truth.

Rachel agrees that she and Sophia did go through a lot together and she wants to be a good friend. Sophia excitedly tells her that she’s the best and the package is already in the mail. Sophia tells Rachel that the nurse is coming so she has to go and hangs up before Rachel can respond.

Tate and Holly are relieved to see the pregnancy test is negative. Tate admits he was having flashbacks to the whole Sophia situation. Holly complains that she still doesn’t feel like herself right now and it’s like she wants to cry or scream, so she doesn’t know what’s wrong with her. Tate encourages that she just had a couple difficult days. Holly feels it’s more than that, like she has no self control lately. They decide they should make an appointment at the counseling center. Tate insists that he’s there for her no matter what. Tate adds that Arianna agreed to give them the dorm to themselves tonight but they agree it’s not the best time, so they decide to go see a movie instead.

Johnny tells Chanel that he took the rest of the day off, so he hoped to spend it with her and Trey which Chanel says she would love, so they exit the hospital together.

Xander thanks Sarah again and says she really has made him so happy. Sarah says seeing Victoria light up when she saw him is all the thanks she needs. Xander says he should get out of her hair since he’s taken up a lot of her time. Sarah says he doesn’t have to. Brady then arrives. Xander says goodbye to Sarah and tells Victoria that he will see her very soon. Xander tells Sarah to let him know if anything changes as he then exits. Brady tells Sarah that he’s sorry to come unannounced but he rushed over after hearing Victoria had pneumonia. Sarah says she will be alright but it was scary at first. Brady says he’s sorry if he interrupted, but Sarah says she’s so glad he’s there as she hugs him.

Arianna meets Tate at the Brady Pub. Tate tells her that there’s a situation that he doesn’t know how to handle and needs her help. Arianna guesses it has something to do with Holly.

Holly joins Maggie and Sarah in the town square. Maggie says it’s not every day that her daughter and granddaughter can join her for breakfast. Sarah talks about almost not making it since Victoria kept her up all night. Maggie mentions also having trouble sleeping, then realizing it was Julie’s birthday after midnight, so she went to go give her company. Maggie points out that Julie was all alone and the terrible situation with Jeremy was weighing heavily on her. Holly relates to when she and Arianna were kidnapped while Stephanie is all alone. Sarah says that luckily, a lot of people are looking for her so she’s sure she will be home safe soon.

Xander brings Marlena flowers at her office in the hospital to welcome her back. Xander thanks Marlena for continuing to see him as a patient even after learning he’s done awful things to people she cares about. Marlena responds that therapy only works if you’re consistent, so she really wants to support him in this even if it’s uncomfortable for both of them. Xander is grateful as he informs Marlena that he’s had a major breakthrough.

Cat finds Gwen notably distracted at the hospital. Gwen claims she was just visiting a sick friend.

EJ finds Paulina in his office and questions what she is doing there. Paulina responds that she came to thank him for the reward he offered for Stephanie’s return. EJ hopes it does good and asks if she only came to express her gratitude. Paulina thinks he knows her better than that.

Cat asks Gwen how she’s doing with her financial issues. Gwen responds that she’s in the process of resolving them, but she has just enough to tide her over until she can get her assets unfrozen, now that it’s been proven that she had nothing to do with Dimitri’s kidnapping since he was working with Peter Blake in Alamainia, plotting mass murder. Gwen declares that now that Dimitri has fled back there, it’s only a matter of time before she’s filthy rich again unless Dimitri has something else up his sleeve.

Tate tells Arianna that Holly has just been in a bad place recently. Arianna admits that they aren’t really on good terms and are in a big fight right now, so she doesn’t know what he wants her to do. Tate says it’s about the sorority and Holly thinking she’s not getting in. Arianna says she already talked to Maisy, but it’s too late now. Tate says Holly is expecting to get denied, but he still thinks she’s going to take it really hard so he wants to do something nice for her to soften the blow. Tate suggests taking her out for dinner and movie and have a romantic night with her. Arianna complains about using their dorm room for that and asks where she is supposed to go. Tate offers her his dorm room. Arianna questions being there with Aaron and complains that he won’t stop talking about video games, so she turns him down.

Maggie tells Sarah and Holly that Mike is beside himself. Sarah understands Maggie always thought of Jeremy as a grandson. Holly compliments the food which Sarah questions her talking about while they are talking about Stephanie’s kidnapping. Maggie mentions Holly saying she was irritable and exhausted last night. Sarah asks if there’s any chance that Holly might be pregnant.

Marlena asks Xander about his breakthrough. Xander responds that when Sarah left him, he promised himself he would change and get a handle on his anger once and for all. Xander says he’s continued to work on that even though he and Sarah are divorced now and Sarah moved on in record time, which made his blood boil. Xander says he convinced himself to stay the course, thinking he’d become a better person but it just made him feel worse and then he finally asked why he was torturing himself like this, then it hit him that he doesn’t want to do this anymore. Xander tells Marlena that he’s done. Marlena asks if he means he’s done with therapy.

Paulina tells EJ that he has blown her off for the last time and she wants to know what he’s up to in the lab. EJ reminds her that the city already inspected his lab and it passed with flying colors. Paulina argues that was months ago and since then, he’s been doing whatever the hell he wants. EJ claims to have no idea what she’s talking about. Paulina reveals that she had the city compare the amount of power he was approved to use against the amount he’s actually using and it’s enough to light up Times Square. Paulina declares it’s going to stop and she will have her team inspect the whole hospital again because she knows he’s up to something and hiding something, so she’s going to find out what it is.

Cat asks what Gwen thinks Dimitri still has up his sleeve. Gwen says she doesn’t know but getting away with heinous acts is part of his DNA, so she wouldn’t be surprised. Gwen adds that what did surprise her is that Leo went off to Alamainia with Dimitri, so it’s so much for Javi. Cat doesn’t think Leo went for love and points out that he’s chasing a story and trying to prove Dimitri’s innocence. Gwen argues that she just told her he isn’t innocent. Cat brings up the law saying innocent until proven otherwise. Gwen argues that there’s loads of proof, multiple witnesses, and his fingerprints all over the room. Cat tries to say she just thinks it’s possible while Gwen question why Dimitri would go back if he was innocent. Gwen insists that Dimitri is guilty as hell and says she thought Cat was her friend. Cat says she is, so Gwen questions why she isn’t on her side like a friend instead of giving Dimitri the benefit of the doubt. Gwen calls Dimitri a fugitive and argues that Leo helped him escape, so a friend would listen when she says they need to be locked up with the key thrown away.

Tate asks Arianna what if he invites Holly to his room and ask Aaron to stay at home. Arianna argues that his room is disgusting and smells like a locker room. Arianna says she would say yes because she knows Holly would be really bummed about not getting in to the sorority, but questions why she should do Holly a favor when she’s been treating her like crap lately. Tate says he knows it’s like Holly can’t control it and she really seems to be struggling lately, so if she gets rejected, he just wants to do something nice to make her feel better. Arianna gives in and agrees to go home for the night, but tells Tate that he owes her.

Holly says there’s no way she’s pregnant and she’s on the pill. Sarah points out that it’s not 100% effective. Holly doesn’t feel comfortable talking about this. Sarah doesn’t mean to push but suggests taking a pregnancy test to be sure. Holly then says she has to leave and rushes off.

Paulina tells EJ that she can see he’s sweating this. EJ tells her to be her guest if she wants to reinspect the hospital and offers to take her around right now. Paulina argues that she’s not ready as she has to call the city inspector to bring in his team. EJ says fine but he offered to do it on the spot. Paulina complains that he knows damn well she can’t do it on her own. Paulina declares that she will bring in the city inspector next week and find out exactly where his excess usage is coming from. EJ tells Paulina that if she has no more questions, he has questions for her about Johnny and Chanel.

Xander tells Marlena that he wouldn’t be here if he was done with therapy. Marlena asks if he then still wants to be better for Sarah and Victoria. Xander says that’s the breakthrough as he realized they are two separate goals. Xander assures that he wants to be the best father to Victoria, but his dream of reuniting with Sarah is not going to happen and he understands and accepts that. Marlena asks how that feels. Xander calls it liberating and reveals he removed his wedding ring. Xander realized he’s been trapped in this cycle for years of disappointing Sarah and it just making him angry. Xander says it was like a lightbulb went off that to let go of his anger, he needs to let go of Sarah for good. Xander adds that he still wants to work on himself, but no longer to win Sarah back, he just wants to become the best version of who he really is. Xander says he loves his daughter and is determined to grow to prove he deserves her back in his life, but he’s not going to deny his needs while doing it. Xander declares that if Sarah is allowed to have a dalliance, he is too. Marlena guesses that he’s already done that.

Paulina asks what questions EJ has about Johnny and Chanel. EJ asks if they got his Christening gift for Trey, how Trey is, and how Chanel’s pregnancy is going. Paulina responds that she can’t help him. EJ argues that they are talking about his grandchildren, so he’s not a stranger, he’s family. Paulina calls him someone that Johnny and Chanel want nothing to do with and she respects that, so she then exits the office.

Sarah encourages Maggie that Holly is going to be okay. Maggie admits her behavior has been erratic lately. Sarah thinks it’s just being a teenager but Maggie feels what she’s seen lately is more than that. Maggie adds that Holly said last night that she felt more out of control than when she overdosed. Sarah doesn’t think Holly is using again but Maggie says she did a great job hiding it last time. Sarah says Holly is just a college kid navigating through life and sometimes they have to figure it out on their own. Sarah adds that she will talk to Holly one on one to make sure she knows they are there for any support she needs. Sarah says she has to get Victoria home while Maggie decides she is going to stay for another cup of coffee.

Holly goes to the Brady Pub and tells Tate that she needs to talk to him alone. Holly says she was just having breakfast with Maggie and Sarah but she had to get out of there because Sarah said she thinks she might be pregnant.

Sarah walks through the town square with Victoria in her stroller until Victoria starts coughing, causing Sarah to worry.

Cat apologizes for upsetting Gwen and assures that she is on her side and really wants things to work out for her. Gwen admits she may have overreacted. Gwen says that’s enough about her and asks how Cat is doing since EJ told her that Chad left town with the kids. Cat says in a way, maybe it’s easier with Chad being gone as she doesn’t have to worry about running in to him. Gwen guesses Cat isn’t over Chad. Cat admits she doesn’t think she’ll ever be over Chad. Gwen encourages that she’ll be fine. Gwen says she’s realized she doesn’t need to hold out for true love and that it’s alright to have Mr. Right Now instead of Mr. Right. Cat asks Gwen who it is, so Gwen informs her that it’s Xander.

Xander informs Marlena that he is seeing Gwen. Marlena asks how that relationship is going. Xander clarifies that it’s no relationship and they are just having fun. Xander says they’ve been very clear that there’s no expectations and just adults meeting their needs. Xander guesses that Marlena doesn’t approve. Marlena just wants to be sure that Xander isn’t using sex to distract himself from his own feelings. Xander then gets a call from Sarah, who tells him that Victoria is having a hard time breathing so she asks him to meet her at the hospital. Xander responds that he’s already there and tells her to call him when she arrives as he races out of the office, leaving Marlena worried that it’s getting more dangerous.

Gwen tells Cat that it’s not the first time for her and Xander but in the past, there were lots of feelings involved while now it’s purely physical. Cat gets a text from EJ and says she has to go, so she’ll see her around as she walks away.

Paulina goes to see Marlena in her office, saying she’s so glad she’s back at work. Marlena mentions hearing that Eli and Lani are coming back to town and calls it wonderful news. Paulina thinks all of them could use some of that.

Xander runs in to Gwen at the hospital and tells her that Victoria is really sick. Gwen asks if there’s anything she can do. Xander thanks her as Sarah arrives with Victoria, so Xander asks what happened. Sarah explains that she was battling a cold and started wheezing, then couldn’t catch her breath so she worries it’s developed in to pneumonia. Sarah says her pediatrician will meet them in the exam room, so they rush off as Gwen looks on.

Cat meets EJ in his office and says he’ll put out the announcement about the reward for finding Stephanie, which she calls incredibly generous. EJ responds that it’s actually incredibly selfish. EJ reveals he wants to help Stephanie, but he also wants to help himself and he needs the citizens of Salem to see him as a good guy. Cat asks about the reason. EJ responds that there’s something brewing and he doesn’t just need her help, but her discretion. Cat is flattered that he would trust her with this. EJ responds that he trusts her more than anyone else in his life right now.

Tate is shocked and questions Holly being pregnant, asking why Sarah would think that. Holly explains that she talked about feeling starving and nauseous lately while also being so moody lately. Arianna then comes back over and says she doesn’t care if Holly apologizes, but she has to stop acting like such a bitch to her. Holly stops her and says she’s right and there’s no excuse. Arianna and Holly then both get text messages from the sorority. Holly confirms that Gamma rejected her. Arianna tells her that she’s sorry. Holly guesses Arianna got in, which she confirms. Arianna calls it Gamma’s loss and says they made a big mistake. Holly disagrees after the way she behaved. Arianna calls it nuts and says she only rushed because Holly asked her to, so she’s going to turn them down. Holly calls it a huge honor and tells her to go ahead and accept the pledge. Arianna asks if she really means that.

Maggie runs in to Gwen at the hospital and questions her loitering around. Gwen tells her that she actually had an appointment and then she heard about Victoria. Maggie says that she heard about her and Xander. Gwen guesses Sarah told her. Maggie says she doesn’t know or care what Gwen and Xander are up to, then tells her that Victoria is no concern of Gwen’s. Maggie advises Gwen to leave now. Gwen mocks her as she walks away.

Xander asks the doctor what they are looking at. The doctor says the chest x-ray will confirm but he does believe it’s pneumonia. Sarah doesn’t know how she missed it and thought it was just a cold. The doctor mentions a virus going around. Sarah says she feels terrible. The doctor asks why since she got Victoria to the hospital while Xander encourages that she’s going to be just fine.

Paulina tells Marlena that Johnny and Chanel have told EJ to stay out of their lives, but trying to keep him away will be a losing battle. Marlena remarks that family is everything to the DiMeras. Paulina says that’s why she knows he’s not going gently in to the night.

EJ explains to Cat that Paulina remains convinced that he’s doing something nefarious in his lab, so she’s sending a team of city inspectors to turn the place upside down next week which is why he would like Cat to supervise them. EJ says if he’s looking over their shoulders, it will only heighten Paulina’s suspicions, so he needs someone to curate what they see and get them in and out while making sure they don’t disturb his research. Cat says it will be no problem at all.

Holly tells Arianna that if she wants to accept Gamma, to go for it. Arianna points out that she wanted them to do it together. Holly encourages her not to pass up the amazing opportunity, so Arianna accepts it. Arianna says she’ll see them later and exits the Pub. Holly then tells Tate that she cannot believe Arianna just did that as she was just being polite and she didn’t think Arianna would actually accept as she thought she would be a better friend than that. Tate thinks they have more important things to do like buy a pregnancy test.

Cat thanks EJ for trusting her with this. EJ says that he doesn’t trust easily, but with her, he doesn’t hesitate and he thinks it has to do with their time in Italy. EJ wants to dig deeper in to that connection, but right now he has work to do. EJ tells Cat that she’s become essential and he’s very grateful for her help and he’s looking forward to spending more time with her.

Paulina and Marlena come out of the office and run in to Maggie, who tells them that Victoria has pneumonia but the antibiotics are working and her temperature is going down. Paulina asks if they can help. Maggie doesn’t think so and says she was going to stay, but she’s needed more at Titan while Sarah and Xander are going to stay with Victoria.

Xander thanks Sarah for calling him. Sarah thanks him for coming. Xander says there’s nowhere else he’d rather be and tells Victoria that he loves her so much. Victoria says “daddy” which makes Xander happy.

Abe, Paulina, and Theo have breakfast at the Brady Pub. Theo says he should get going as he has a meeting with Johnny and doesn’t want to be late because he wants it to be a smooth transition when Johnny hands back control of DiMera to him. Paulina hopes it all goes well. Theo appreciates Abe coming around and making peace with his decision. Abe acknowledges that it is his decision, so he respects that. Theo says it means a lot and thanks them for breakfast as he exits. Paulina questions Abe’s sudden 180 and respecting Theo’s decision to take control of DiMera. Abe states that it’s a done deal and questions what choice he has.

Johnny goes to the DiMera office and pulls out the engraved cup that EJ got for Trey as he sits at the desk.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ is on the phone with Chad, telling him not to cut his trip short as there’s nothing he can do here. EJ hopes that Stephanie will be back by the time Chad comes home and promises to call if there’s any news as they hang up. Gwen and Xander enter the room. Xander asks if there’s no news on Stephanie. EJ confirms there’s not and questions what the hell he’s still doing there. Gwen tells EJ to be polite as Xander is her guest. Xander mentions being very hungry as Gwen says they are very lucky to be able to join EJ for breakfast.

Stephanie and Jeremy wake up in the secret room behind the lab, still handcuffed to their chairs. Stephanie mentions being cold, hungry, and thirsty. Stephanie says she’s had no luck getting free. Jeremy notes that it’s been a couple hours so Owen may be gracing them with their presence.

Owen remains in the lab, wondering if the person in the tube can hear him. Owen says she had a happy marriage, so he wonders if she has any relationship advice for him since he finally has Stephanie right where he wants her, so he can’t blow it up like he did before. Owen asks if he should take Stephanie on a romantic getaway or shower her with gifts. Owen just wants to know how to make Stephanie fall in love with him.

Alex wakes up on the couch at home and puts his wedding ring back on as he starts to cry and throws things from the table in frustration.

Xander tells EJ that his staff did a commendable job fixing the bed that he and Gwen broke. EJ assumed he would be gone by now and questions him not working because he has the time to hover around here, day and night. EJ remarks that it’s no wonder Titan is on the rocks.

Kate greets Abe and Paulina at the Pub. Kate thanks Abe for helping with the search last night. Abe asks how Roman is. Kate says he didn’t sleep much but he’s back out on the search and guesses there haven’t been any updates. Paulina confirms that she’s been in contact with Jada all night and they’ve checked all the likely places that Jeremy could be holding Stephanie. Kate says she has every editor coming through Stephanie’s novels for any clues and she hopes it will be the key to his downfall. Paulina says if love were enough, Stephanie would be home with them now so she just hopes that she feels it.

Stephanie struggles with being cold while Jeremy encourages her to imagine they are somewhere else, but Stephanie says that just makes her colder. Stephanie decides she might take Owen up on his water offer if he ever comes back from whatever project he’s working on. Jeremy hopes he doesn’t come back soon while Stephanie admits that she’s so scared for both of them, but especially for him.

Owen tells himself that there has to be a way that he can make all of this right. Owen then imagines the tube in the room opening up and Stephanie coming out of it, asking what has him so rattled. Owen says she’s not real but says his problem is Jeremy as he was supposed to be in police custody and he has to get rid of him.

Alex finishes a phone call as Justin shows up at his door and asks what he can do as they embrace.

Theo goes to meet Johnny at DiMera Enterprises. Theo asks if he’s definitely okay with him coming back as CEO. Johnny assures that he is glad he’s taking over. Theo asks about the cup EJ got for Trey and if that means they patched things up. Johnny says no and that their relationship is complicated to say the least. Johnny adds that Chanel wanted him to throw it out but once he saw what it was, he couldn’t bring himself to do it but now he feels like he’s being disloyal to Chanel. Theo relates to feeling the same every time he tells Abe he’s coming to work at DiMera, like it’s a betrayal. Theo declares that no matter what Abe thinks, he’s a DiMera and he’s proud of it.

Xander tells EJ to let him focus on Titan while he focuses on his family’s company, then points out that his siblings ousted him from there years ago. Gwen interrupts and suggests they focus on more important things like Stephanie going missing. EJ admits to being impressed by Titan offering reward money and announces he plans to double that. Xander then gets a text and remembers he has to get to a work meeting. Xander tells Gwen that he’ll see her later and suggests going back to his place. Gwen says she can’t wait as they kiss in front of EJ.

Alex tells Justin that he’s trying to be strong. Justin says that doesn’t mean he can’t be in pain when someone he loves is in danger. Alex complains that she shouldn’t be in danger since the whole point of eloping was to lure Jeremy in and make him the bait, not Stephanie. Justin brings up the police having the video of Jeremy trying to attack him and that he did nothing wrong by letting the police handle this. Alex argues that if they followed their plan, Jeremy would’ve came for him and he wishes he got him instead of Stephanie.

Stephanie apologizes to Jeremy again for believing he was the one stalking her. Jeremy says the only one to blame for this is Owen. Stephanie agrees and refuses to sit around and be his victim again. Stephanie wants to find something to use but Jeremy says Owen took everything that could help them escape. Stephanie guesses the only option is to talk Owen in to letting them go by either playing in to his delusion or challenging it.

Owen talks to his imagination of Stephanie and says he can’t find his way out of this Jeremy problem other than killing him, but he wouldn’t have time to clean up all the blood. Owen adds that once Jeremy’s body was found, they would know he had nothing to do with the kidnapping and they’d come looking for him. His imagination of Stephanie then suggests he use the drug he used on Stephanie and the cop, but upping the dose for Jeremy. Owen declares that a drug is what he needs to leave no evidence of foulplay behind.

EJ questions Gwen still being in the living room as he thought she’d be out looking for Stephanie to try and claim the reward money. Gwen wants to just stay and recharge after the night she had with Xander. EJ hopes to never hear about that again and adds that Gwen could do a hell of a lot better than Xander. Gwen asks why she would take romantic advice from EJ when he’s not breaking any beds around here. EJ tells her that he’s going to the hospital because one of them need to check in on their project as they are near the finish line. Gwen decides she will go with him. EJ questions her giving up on Stephanie already when he thought she’d be interested in the reward money. Gwen remarks that the reward money will seem like chump change when they are done with the drug that can raise the dead. Gwen declares she’ll have more money than she knows what to do with when that hits the market. EJ corrects her that they will have more money as they exit together.

Xander meets Kate in the town square. Kate points out that they couldn’t meet in the office so that Philip and Maggie find out what they are up to. Kate says it’s getting their hands dirty for the greater good. Xander asks what her spy said about One Stormy Afternoon. Kate clarifies that Arianna doesn’t know she’s a spy and she wants to keep it that way. Kate adds that she said Johnny is rushing Bonnie’s book to shelves, so they will soon be hitting DiMera with a monster lawsuit for plagiarism.

Johnny tells Theo that Abe may not be happy that he’s embracing his DiMera side, but Stefano would’ve been. Theo admits he misses Stefano every day. Theo remarks after all the stories they heard about Stefano bringing people back to life, it’s hard to believe no one has done the same for him.

Owen states that the person in the pod had a love story for the ages and questions why he can’t convince Stephanie that she can have the same with him. Owen continues to talk to his imagination of Stephanie and mocks the ring that Alex got her. Owen declares that Alex is her past while he is her future as his imagination of Stephanie then disappears.

Alex tells Justin that when he and Stephanie eloped, it was the happiest day of his life and they were really looking forward to the future. Alex talks about their plans to redo the whole ceremony in Salem with their family and friends. Alex says now instead of sending out save the dates, he’s hanging up missing posters. Justin encourages that even that’s a huge help in bringing Stephanie back and that Steve mentions someone saying she had seen Jeremy. Alex says it was no help since the person said they saw Jeremy after Stephanie had been grabbed. Justin encourages that would mean that he has Stephanie stashed somewhere locally. Alex calls that the optimistic take which Jada keeps telling him to hang onto. Justin urges him not to even think of the other take.

Owen returns to Stephanie and Jeremy, saying it’s time to put their gags back on, but first he needs two answers. Owen asks Jeremy how he found Stephanie. Jeremy instead tells him to go to Hell. Owen warns him to either tell him or he’ll drag his ass out right now. Jeremy responds that it wasn’t that complicated and admits he saw him in the town square, so he followed him because he recognized him from the school and knew something was up. Owen admits he should’ve been more careful. Owen offers Stephanie another bottle of water, insisting that she can trust him but she and Jeremy both refuse. Owen then puts the gags back on them and tells them to sit tight as he’ll be back later tonight. Owen tells them not to get in to any trouble while he’s gone as he then exits.

Theo tells Johnny that he appreciates all the hard work he’s been doing while he was recovering. Johnny says he just took his advice and that DiMera had been stable lately.

Kate tells Xander that her lawyer is already working on the complaint, outlining the lawsuit. Kate admits it’s not ethical to entrap their competition in to stealing their IP and assures they will be ready to go once the book is on sale. Kate adds that she included a list of comparisons between One Stormy Afternoon and One Rainy Night. Xander calls it a genius plan and says they are lucky that no one at DiMera actually read Stephanie’s book. Kate says that now that Johnny is rushing Bonnie’s book to the shelves, they are home free, but Xander says not yet.

Dr. Rolf returns to the lab and asks Owen how last night went. Owen calls it uneventful. Dr. Rolf says that EJ will be pleased to hear that and reveals that EJ is on his way, so he suggests maybe it’s time they meet face to face. Owen responds that he’d rather go home to get some rest, so he quickly exits the lab.

Alex tells Justin that he’s trying to hold onto hope. Justin encourages that Stephanie has friends in high places, so the police, Black Patch, the FBI and the ISA are all looking for her. Justin declares that he knows in his heart that this will have a happy ending. Alex says that is exactly what Adrienne told him.

Johnny tells Theo that the last item on the agenda is the publishing of One Stormy Afternoon. Theo says he’s been meaning to talk about the publication department. Johnny knows fiction is new for them, but feels they are leaving money on the table by not broadening their audience. Johnny adds that he’s commissioned a mock cover so they can make the release date. Theo comments on Johnny making his mark before going back to Titan, unless he can convince him to stay. Theo tells Johnny that he’d be more than happy to offer him a permanent position at DiMera.

Xander tells Kate that there’s still one major hurdle they have to overcome and that’s that Titan’s first loan repayment is coming due and they don’t have the cash, so if this lawsuit doesn’t come through in time, his family loses everything. Kate doesn’t understand why Xander let Maggie put the mansion up as collateral. Xander tells Kate that there is no talking Maggie out of something that she’s determined to do, so they had no other choice since they need the money to keep Titan afloat. Kate assures that’s exactly what they will do because it’s Victor’s legacy, so they are doing it for him, Philip, and future generations. Xander agrees that Titan is also Victoria’s future, so he will make sure it stays afloat by any means necessary.

Justin tells Alex that he doesn’t understand. Alex explains that he didn’t sleep much and crashed out on the couch, but he had a dream about Adrienne and he lost almost all of it, but he remembers searching for Stephanie and he couldn’t find her when Adrienne appeared and told him not to worry because Stephanie would be found and to just believe it would have a happy ending. Alex wonders how strange it is that Justin used the same words. Justin calls it his subconscious telling him to have faith that Stephanie will be found. Alex guesses that’s exactly what it was, but tells him how happy he was to see Adrienne in his dream. Alex recalls how devastated Justin was when he lost Adrienne and calls that the worst thing that ever happened to him. Alex wants to believe this will all be okay but points out they weren’t able to save Adrienne, so not every story gets a happy ending.

Stephanie and Jeremy remain tied up until hearing voices, so they try screaming for help.

EJ and Gwen arrive at the lab and greet Dr. Rolf. EJ asks how their favorite patient is. Dr. Rolf says she should be waking up any day and they should be seeing brain activity soon. Gwen throws trash away in the trash can where Owen had dropped Stephanie’s wedding ring. Gwen then asks Dr. Rolf how soon they are talking as EJ says there’s much to do before then. Dr. Rolf says he will keep him posted and it will be sometime before her eyes are open, but she’s ready for them to feast their eyes on her. EJ asks what he means. Dr. Rolf reveals they can open the pod and allow her to breathe, asking if either of them would like to have a look. EJ and Gwen both take a look. EJ calls it amazing. Gwen calls it astonishing and says she didn’t understand the impact of what they are doing until this moment. Gwen calls it extraordinary and asks if Dr. Rolf is sure he’s able to bring her back to life after everything. Gwen remarks that this will turn so many lives upside down. EJ says it will in the most wonderful way possible.

Johnny tells Theo that he’s going to get him in trouble with his wife, since he promised Chanel that his stint at DiMera would only be temporary. Theo says he understands but if he ever changes his mind, he’d be happy to have him. Theo thanks Johnny again and says there are few people he could trust, so he’s thrilled to have him as a cousin and a friend.

Kate tells Xander that it’s going to hurt to see Johnny go through this, but he and Theo will both survive the hits that will come because of what they do while Titan couldn’t survive it if they don’t. Xander worries about Kate having to deal with Abe and Roman when they learn what they’ve done. Kate says that won’t happen since as far as they are concerned, she never read the book and just passed it on while Abe and Roman are too distracted to notice since they are focused on searching for Stephanie.

Alex tells Justin that he needs to get back out there but Justin says there’s no point as there are plenty of people out there looking for Stephanie. Justin says Alex won’t do anyone any good until he recharges and asks him to get another hour of sleep for him and for himself. Justin offers to make him a cup of coffee and then they can go back out together which Alex agrees to. Alex tells Justin that he loves him and Justin says the same as they hug.

Dr. Rolf brings up the police searching the lab with EJ’s permission. EJ says he was backed in to a corner as Stephanie disappeared from the hospital, so he couldn’t object without making them think he had something to hide, even though he does. EJ declares that they are hiding some earth shattering things here but Stephanie isn’t one of them.

Stephanie and Jeremy continued screaming to no avail and remained handcuffed and gagged.

At the Horton house, Julie looks at her phone and sees that it’s midnight which means it’s now her birthday. Julie looks over at a photo of Doug and says the day has just begun and all is not right in the world.

Gabi sleeps next to Philip in bed while he’s reading the Spectator article on Stephanie’s kidnapping.

Stephanie tries to run but Jeremy says it’s not safe for her to go out there alone. Stephanie argues that she wouldn’t be any safer with him. Jeremy says he’ll call 911 then and step away as he just wants her to get out of here. The real stalker then arrives and says it’s too late for that as he is revealed to be Owen Kent, who had kidnapped Stephanie many years ago in the past, leaving Stephanie in shock.

Dr. Rolf is in the lab and opens the tube in the room, saying he hopes they are ready to begin their journey back to them.

Stephanie questions what is happening. Owen tells Jeremy that he’s not supposed to be here and pulls a gun. Jeremy tells him to take it easy. Owen demands Jeremy hand over his phone, so he does. Stephanie tries screaming for help while Owen orders her to shut up and warns her not to make him hurt her.

Julie looks at her photo of Doug until she gets a phone call from Maggie. Julie says she was hoping for news on Stephanie and Jeremy. Maggie wishes she had news on that front. Julie questions Maggie being up at this hour. Maggie responds that she was in bed and heard tapping on the window which was a bright red cardinal that then flew away. Maggie says she was then wide awake and it just occurred to her that it was officially Julie’s birthday. Julie is touched that she remembered. Maggie asks if she’d like some company. Julie says she would love it.

Gabi wakes up next to Philip and asks if there’s any news on Stephanie. Philip responds that there’s none at all.

Owen ties Stephanie back up to the chair and says he doesn’t know how she got out of the last one, but she won’t get out of this. Owen then has Jeremy tied to a chair across from her and questions how Jeremy found Stephanie as he takes Stephanie’s phone from Jeremy’s jacket pocket. Stephanie questions how Jeremy got her phone. Jeremy assumes that Owen planted it on him to set him up, but he found it before the police did. Owen demands to know how Jeremy found Stephanie. Jeremy guesses he just got luck, so Owen grabs him and asks if he thinks this is a joke. Stephanie yells at Owen to stop and not hurt him. Jeremy asks Stephanie how she knows this guy and who he is. Stephanie responds that he’s Owen Kent and he kidnapped her years ago as she realizes he is the stalker. Jeremy states that it wasn’t him.

Maggie goes to see Julie, who thanks her for coming. Maggie wanted to wish her a happy birthday in person since it’s the first time in awhile she’s been alone in the house since Doug passed away. Maggie encourages her that she’s not alone tonight or ever.

Philip tells Gabi that he’s sorry as he shouldn’t be thinking about his ex while in bed with her. Gabi says it’s okay to be worried about Stephanie as she is too. Philip brings up that Stephanie has been kidnapped before when they were together. Gabi didn’t know and asks what happened. Philip informs her that Stephanie got caught in the crossfire of the never ending Kiriakis-DiMera feud. Gabi says that sounds familiar. Philip says that Stephanie was rescued, but afterwards she decided she wanted out of that world altogether and broke things off with him, so this is bringing up bad memories for him. Gabi asks if he wants to talk about it. Gabi assures that she’s secure in his feelings for her, so she can handle it. Philip then decides he does want to talk about it.

Stephanie tells Jeremy that she’s so sorry as she was sure he was the one stalking her. Jeremy says she had good reason. Owen says that’s because he did a stellar job framing Jeremy, even Steve was convinced. Stephanie questions why he’s doing this. Owen calls Jeremy the perfect scapegoat as he had means, motive, and opportunity. Owen says they weren’t even thinking of him because they were convinced it was Jeremy. Jeremy calls him sick, so Owen puts a gag on him. Owen says Jeremy was boring him and that he and Stephanie need to talk. Stephanie asks what he wants from her. Owen tells Stephanie that he loves her and always has, so he hates that it has to be this way but she’s been unfaithful to him and gave herself to another man. Owen then takes Stephanie’s wedding ring. Stephanie tries to say he can’t take that and pleads with him not to do this, so he puts the gag back over her mouth and says he’ll be back soon as he exits. Jeremy and Stephanie both try screaming. Owen leaves the room and goes right in to the lab where Dr. Rolf notes that he’s back. Dr. Rolf questions if he heard a noise like a muffled scream but Owen claims he didn’t hear anything. Dr. Rolf guesses it was the music in his headphones. Dr. Rolf says he was just about to go home for the night and reminds Owen what to do for the night in keeping the temperature of the room while monitoring their guest’s vital signs. Owen asks if he thinks she will respond soon. Dr. Rolf calls it unlikely but says if he sees any changes, to call him immediately. Dr. Rolf calls Owen the perfect employee. Owen asks how much longer he thinks he will need him. Dr. Rolf responds that he can’t say for sure as you can’t rush science. Dr. Rolf then exits the lab.

Julie is thankful that Maggie hasn’t said I told you so about Jeremy, since she was right from the start. Maggie wishes she wasn’t. Julie couldn’t believe Jeremy was an evil man and asks how she could’ve been so wrong about that.

Owen returns to Jeremy and Stephanie, warning that the room is soundproof from the rest of the hospital so they can make all the noise they want. Owen offers a bottle of water. Jeremy asks how they know he didn’t drug it. Owen asks what would be the point since they are already tied up. Stephanie questions the room being so cold. Owen calls it a secret part of the hospital that no one knows about and never will until it’s too late.

Philip informs Gabi that almost 20 years ago, Owen Kent kidnapped Stephanie on EJ’s orders as retaliation for Victor kidnapping Stefano over an alternative fuels project they had gone to war over. Philip remarks that nobody learns any lessons. Philip says EJ hired Owen to get back at their family, but Owen was a total psycho who decided he was in love with Stephanie. Philip adds that Owen’s father owned a funeral home, so he was holding Stephanie in a drawer in the morgue. Gabi asks what happened to Owen Kent. Philip responds that he was arrested, but he got away and hasn’t been heard from since. Philip guesses he’s disappeared for good at this point.

Owen admits the accommodations are not ideal as his original plan was to whisk Stephanie away from Salem so they could start their life together. Jeremy asks why he changed his mind. Owen says because of his job and he had to pick up some extra night shifts. Owen adds that he would’ve waited until he found out Alex and Stephanie were going to elope and he couldn’t stand for that. Stephanie asks if he’s working for EJ again. Owen claims that he’s not but understands why she would think that. Owen decides this place works to keep Stephanie until they are ready to start their life together. Stephanie calls this crazy as she will never go anywhere with him. Owen responds that she says that like she has a choice. Jeremy asks what he’s going to do with him. Owen responds that he was supposed to be in jail, taking the heat off him and keeping everyone off his scent, but since he’s here in his way, they will have to come up with a more permanent solution.

Philip tells Gabi that what’s really keeping him up is the moment he finally found Stephanie in the mortuary and the terror in her eyes. Gabi talks about Philip being there for her to cry on his shoulder after she found out about Stefan and he never once complained, so she’s grateful for him being honest with her as it only makes them stronger.

Julie tells Maggie that the police came by to ask if she had any idea where Jeremy and Stephanie were, so she suggested the Horton Cabin but they weren’t there. Julie says they have no idea if they are still in Salem and that Jeremy’s car is still at the school in Salem, so he couldn’t have gotten far on foot. Julie adds that someone spotted Jeremy in the town square. Maggie states that there’s only so many places someone can hide in Salem.

Owen drinks the water that Stephanie and Jeremy refused, then says he has nothing else to offer them so he’ll see them in the morning as he exits the room. Stephanie apologizes to Jeremy again for what she thought and she’s also so grateful that he found her, but questions how he did. Jeremy explains that he was at school for his last day with his car packed up, ready to head to New York, but towards the end of the day, Thomas came up to him to tell him that he found someone’s phone. Jeremy says his heart dropped when he realized it was Stephanie’s phone and that whoever was setting him up must have planted it there. Stephanie asks how he got away. Jeremy admits that he climbed out of the bathroom window and took off. Stephanie points out that he didn’t just take off and hide, he came looking for her.

Philip really hates feeling helpless. Gabi encourages that he is helping with Titan putting up reward money for Stephanie’s return. Philip feels it’s the least they can do since they published Stephanie’s book, even though money is tight. Philip says he won’t let what the DiMeras did to them stop them from making a difference. Gabi offers to kick in some cash herself and make things easier. Philip thanks her for offering and says it means a lot but they will be okay.

Stephanie asks how Jeremy knew she was here. Jeremy explains that after evading the police at the school, he couldn’t go to his car or back to the house with everyone looking for him. Jeremy says he thought about taking her phone to the police but figured they would just arrest him and they’d lose time trying to find her as he doubted they would believe anything he had to say. Jeremy says he cut through the town square and happened to see Owen, so the pieces came together and he was pretty sure he was the guy who framed him. Stephanie asks how he knew Owen as the guy who had him. Jeremy recalls bumping into Owen posing as a custodian at school, but he’d never seen him before and he acted weird, like he knew him, so when he saw him in the town square, he knew he planted the phone to set him up, so he followed him back here. Jeremy adds that he knows the hospital pretty well since his dad used to be chief of staff, but Owen came in through a back entrance by the morgue. Jeremy says he kept his distance and followed him through all these passage ways he didn’t know existed and he ended up at a door with a key code, so he caught the door when Owen put in the key and followed him inside.

Julie tells Maggie that she’s been trying all day to reach Jeremy in hopes that he will talk to her. Julie thinks her voice would help Jeremy come to his senses. Maggie asks what she would say to him if he called her back. Julie says she would tell him that she loves him no matter what and that it’s not too late to stop him from doing something he can’t undo. Julie tries again to call Jeremy, but Owen has his phone and declines the call.

Stephanie states that Jeremy took a huge risk following Owen as he had no idea what was behind that door. Jeremy says he didn’t care as he was just worried about her. Stephanie appreciates that and asks about him following Owen in to the secure room. Jeremy reveals that it turned out the room was a lab and luckily Owen had his back turned, so he hung back and watched him open a secret panel. Jeremy says he found a place to hide in the lab and waited until Owen came back through and left, then when he was sure he was gone, he went to the panel. Jeremy says he probably should’ve just called the police at that point but he was desperate to find Stephanie. Jeremy says there was a corridor with two doors, so he went through the first one and there she was. Stephanie thinks she knows where they are in the hospital because EJ gave her a tour of the free clinic when it first opened and they came upon a door with a keypad, so they are somewhere behind the free clinic. Stephanie says that EJ said there was a lab inside but made it clear he didn’t want to talk about what was in the lab. Jeremy brings up that Owen said he wasn’t working for EJ and questions if he was lying. Stephanie says she doesn’t know but it makes her wonder what the hell is going on in the lab and the other door. Jeremy brings up that Owen said it was just the three of them and that the room was soundproof, so Stephanie questions why Owen yelled at her to shut up then and why he would gag them. Jeremy concludes that Owen must be working for someone and maybe his boss is in the other room and they are not part of the job, so the question is how to get his boss to figure out that they are there.

Philip and Gabi kiss in bed until Philip says he doesn’t want to keep her up as he knows she has a big fashion show tomorrow and needs her rest. Gabi says she should get some sleep but she’s kind of wired, so she suggests ordering snacks from room service. Philip points out that it will take a while to get there, so Gabi asks how they will ever pass the time and kisses him. Gabi then calls to order strawberries, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream as Philip continues kissing her.

Stephanie tells Jeremy that it could be worse since the last time Owen kidnapped her, he kept her in a drawer in the morgue as his family owned a mortuary. Jeremy tells her that he’s so sorry. Stephanie remarks that Owen is totally off the deep end and she had blocked out so much of what happened the last time. Stephanie says what she remembers most is that it was so cold, just like it is here.

Julie hugs Maggie and thanks her for coming by to see her. Maggie jokes that she can thank the bird for waking her. Maggie offers to take her out to dinner to celebrate her birthday for real after they both get some rest which Julie agrees to. Maggie says she will call her as she exits. Julie goes back to her photo of Doug and says she knows that red cardinal was him, waking Maggie up to come see her for her birthday. Julie declares that her birthday wish is for Doug to watch over Jeremy and Stephanie. Julie then puts the photo down and shuts off the lights.

Jeremy tells Stephanie that he’s so sorry this happened to her again while Stephanie is so sorry that he got dragged into it and for how she and the whole town treated him. Jeremy doesn’t blame her considering their past and that Owen set him up. Stephanie can’t believe he was behind it as it’s been over 15 years and she never thought Owen would come back as a wanted man. Stephanie acknowledges that Jeremy tried to save her and risked everything. Stephanie wishes she would’ve listened to him before Owen came back. Jeremy says none of that matters and he’s glad that she’s not alone now that he’s here with her. Jeremy vows to do everything in his power to protect her from that lunatic.

Owen stands over the tube in the lab and says the person inside knew what it was like to be part of a great romance. Owen says she’s the only one he’s shared his plans, he wants her to know that it worked and Stephanie is here. Owen admits he had to deal with unexpected complications, but once the woman is out and back in to the real world, he will use the tube to smuggle Stephanie out and then they will be together forever.
