When Gabi was looking at an article about EJ’s shooting, she flashed back to being outside the DiMera house with a gun. Xander and Philip showed up to let her know that Gabi Chic was theirs. They told her what happened. Gabi was furious with them for taking advantage of EJ being in a coma. They didn’t believe her concern because she was planning to takeover the company herself. When Gabi threatened to quit, Xander and Philiip let her know Gabi Chic wasn’t going with her. Gabi let them know that Gabi Chic was her company per an agreement with DiMera. They let her know that Mr. Shin sold her out, so Gabi Chic was theirs. She could be the face of the company if she played by the rules. Reluctantly, Gabi agreed to stay. Sarah saw Alex working at the Kiriakis mansion. Alex told her things were hectic at Titan ever since the DiMera takeover. Sarah was surprised that it happened so fast. Alex was upset that Philip had two businesses he didn’t deserve. He talked to her about her lies and her using Philip so Xander could keep his power wasn’t working. Sarah said she was grateful that he went along with it but wondered if he was changing his mind. Alex was upset about what she was putting him and Stephanie through. Sarah told him to focus on the big picture. She said Philip and Xander were getting along. Alex said that was why he didn’t tell the truth. When Alex left, Sarah was relieved.

At Paulina and Abe’s place, Johnny read an article in the Spectator about EJ. He thought about pulling out Roman’s gun. Chad showed up to check on Johnny. When Johnny said he was fine, Chad asked why he hasn’t been to the hospital. Johnny said he didn’t care if EJ lived or died. He told Chad about what happened with the adoption and finding out about EJ raping Sami. Johnny asked if he was the only one who didn’t know. Chad said he wasn’t but the people who knew wanted to protect him. Johnny said Sami hasn’t been ignoring him. Chad said it might be hard for Sami to talk about the situation. Johnny didn’t care about how hard it was for Sami. He said she owed him an explanation about why she chose to stay with him after everything that happened. Chad said it might be Johnny’s last chance to see EJ alive. He told Johnny he didn’t have to forgive EJ, but he should see him. Chad said he wished he could take back the last time he saw his mother and suggested that he should see EJ. Before Chad left, he told Johnny that it was family above everything else. Kate read in the news that Kristen was arrested. She took her gun out of her pocketbook and then put it back. Rex showed up to visit her. He said he had a minor injury and the person who hit him was in custody. Rex let her know EJ wasn’t involved in his accident. Kate told him that EJ was shot. Rex asked if she thought Kristen shot EJ. Before she answered Rex’s question, Philip sent her a text. He wanted to celebrate good news. She wanted Rex to stay so they could have dinner with Roman when she got back. When Belle told EJ that she loved him, Sami walked in. Belle was surprised that Sami was there. Sami said she was back because the father of her children was shot. She confronted Belle about her confession to EJ. Belle told Sami that she shouldn’t be there. Sami said she was staying. Belle told her to be civil to which Sami said it was impossible to be civil with her sister after she confessed to loving the father of her children. When Belle tried to leave, Sami stopped her to say EJ was using her as a Sami replacement. Belle informed Sami that EJ pursued her to which Sami said she felt sorry for her. Sami reminded Belle that EJ was using her and wanted her to realize it. Belle said Sami must care about EJ since she flew across the country to be there. Sami said she was there to talk to Johnny. She told a shocked Belle that Johnny knew about his conception. When Belle didn’t say anything about Johnny, Sami sarcastically said it was okay if she didn’t ask how Johnny was doing. When the subject of John came up, Belle told her what was going on with him. Belle left to talk to Marlena while Sami stayed with EJ. Sami told EJ about his taste in women. She told him about the people who loved him. When she told EJ that she didn’t know how to tell an upset Johnny how she fell in love with him, Johnny told her she had her chance to tell him now. While Rex was on the phone with someone, he looked for a pen. He ended up finding Kate’s gun. Kate met with Philip at the Kiriakis mansion. Before they could celebrate, Vivian showed up.

Sophia told Holly that Tate went to her house to talk to her. Holly quickly walked away. Amy showed up and wondered where Tate was and what was more important than the baby. At the Kiriakis mansion, Tate went to Holly’s room and saw Doug putting on his underwear. Doug told him it wasn’t what it looked like. Tate said it looked like he was sleeping with his girlfriend. Doug reminded him that Holly wasn’t his girlfriend anymore. Tate blamed Doug for why he and Holly broke up. Doug brought up that Tate sold him out. They ended up arguing. During their argument, Doug pointed out that Tate and Holly had problems throughout their relationship. While they were talking, Doug called Tate an insecure baby which led to Tate hitting him. Holly walked in the room. Tate asked her if she slept with Doug. She said it was his fault that Doug was homeless and said he didn’t have anywhere else to go. Tate said he was there because he wanted to check on her after what happened with EJ. Holly said she knew about it. Tate ended up leaving. After Doug got dressed, Holly asked if he was okay. Tate met up with Sophia and Amy. Sophia asked if Tate was okay to which he said he was. She told him about Holly’s reaction when they ran into each other. Tate told her that Doug was in Holly’s room. When Sophia wanted to ask more questions, Tate cut her off to talk to Amy. They tried to convince Amy to consider the adoption plan since EJ was shot. Amy said she was praying for EJ. Sophia told Amy that the adoption shouldn’t be a problem since EJ was in a coma. Amy said EJ could still wake up to which Sophia said it may take years. Sophia reminded Amy that Johnny and Chanel moved out of the DiMera mansion and moved in with Paulina. Amy said she liked Paulina. Tate and Sophia continued to convince Amy that everything happening was a sign from God to go through with the adoption. Amy agreed that it could be a sign, but she wanted to talk to Johnny and Chanel to make sure EJ stayed out of the baby’s life.

JJ talked to Shawn about his concern that Gabi was involved in EJ’s shooting. He told Shawn that Gabi disappeared when EJ was shot. JJ said Gabi tried to shoot EJ before. Shawn said he didn’t think Gabi would risk losing her daughter to which JJ said she might have been willing to lose her to get rid of EJ. When Shawn suggested JJ ask Gabi if she shot EJ, JJ said that would end their relationship. Shawn thought questioning his girlfriend’s innocent wasn’t good either. He told JJ that he didn’t think Gabi shot EJ since so many people wanted to kill him. JJ agreed with him and said Kristen was on the top of the list. Shawn thought Kristen’s alibi was suspicious. Gabi showed up at the DiMera mansion and went into the living room. Kristen showed up and asked what she was doing there. She wanted Gabi to give her the key. Gabi gave her the key and said she was there on business since Kristen hasn’t been there. Kristen said she was busy. Gabi said it was crazy that someone shot EJ and that he was still alive. Kristen asked if she knew anything about EJ getting shot. Gabi was offended by the accusation. Kristen said she thought Gabi might have known something since she was dating JJ. Gabi said she didn’t know anything and asked if Kristen knew anything. Kristen said Gabi had reason to kill EJ to which Gabi said Kristen had reason to kill him too. Gabi said Kristen had more of a reason to kill him after what he did to her mother. Kristen said she didn’t own a gun to which Gabi said she could have gotten one. They continued to argue about it until Gabi left. Brady told Belle that EJ was shot and in a coma. He said Kristen told him about it. Belle didn’t know how she felt about what happened. She told him about trying to get EJ to confess to what he did and said it was a bad plan. Belle said she knew he would figure out what she was doing and secretly wanted him to figure it out. She said she wanted him and didn’t want him to go to prison. Belle said after everything EJ did, she was still worried about him. Brady understood what she was saying because of his situation with Kristen, but he was able to get over it. Belle said she wasn’t sure if she would be able to get over it. She said she wanted to hate EJ, but she couldn’t. Brady told her not to beat herself up about it because EJ was a terrible person and caring about him made her a kind one. He said he would support her and be there for her. Later on, Belle went to see EJ at the hospital. When Kristen was about to leave the mansion, Shawn and JJ showed up with a search warrant to search her room. Kristen hesitated at first but agreed to let them search her room. While they searched the room, JJ found a gun.

Tate thought about texting Holly when Sophia showed up. She let him know that EJ was shot. He couldn’t believe it. Sophia assured him that his sister and everyone else in the DiMera mansion was okay. Tate thought about everyone connected to EJ. He was worried about Rachel, Johnny and Holly. She thought that could be the answer to their prayers. Tate was shocked by what she said. Sophia explained that with EJ out of the way her mother might change her mind about Johnny and Chanel adopting the baby. The pregnancy caused problems for everyone including Holly. Tate told her that Holy dumped him. They talked about it for a little while. Sophia thought they would work things out like before. He felt like it was one too many issues. Tate blamed Doug for what happened between them. Sophia talked to Amy and found out that she was willing to reconsider the adoption. Tate wanted to check on Holly before they met with her mother. Holly got Tate’s text, but Doug appeared before she could respond to him. He thanked her for letting her stay at the Kiriakis mansion, but he wasn’t sure if he should stay there. Holly assured him that she would handle her grandmother. She told him that she and Tate broke up so he wouldn’t be a problem. Doug wondered what happened between them. She told him what happened, and he realized that he was the reason they broke up. Holly assured him that he wasn’t the reason. They were dealing with a lot of problems. He apologized, but she wasn’t sure he meant that since he wanted more than friendship with her. Before Doug could respond to her, she got a text about EJ getting shot. Kate and Philip were at the pub. He was talking about Alex agreeing to keep his secret, but she was distracted. Philip checked what she was reading on her tablet and saw that EJ was shot. Kate told him that no one knew who did it. She wished they killed him. Philip asked her if she was the one who did it. She couldn’t believe he accused her of murder. Kate told him that she didn’t shoot EJ. He said she was capable of doing it. Philip reminded her about what happened with Vivian. Kate said that she shot her accidentally. He reminded her about the times she tried to kill Chloe, Sami, and Victor. She reminded him that didn’t do it. He believed her and had to leave to meet with Xander to talk about EJ’s shooting. After Philip left, Kate said that EJ got what was coming to him.

Stephanie told Alex that she was obsessed with the secret she and Sarah were keeping from Xander. Alex understood since he’s involved now too. He knew what it felt like to get duped. She wondered what he planned to do. Alex was leaning towards telling the truth. Stephanie reminded him about the risk of doing that. Xander talked to Sarah about feeling stressed about Alex, Stephanie and Philip. Sarah lied to him and said that she knew about “the affair” between Stephanie and Philip. She pretended to be shocked when Xander mentioned it to her. Sarah said that Stephanie told her because she needed someone to talk to about it. She apologized for lying to him. Xander had no trouble forgiving her for it. Philip arrived at the mansion and told Xander and Sarah that EJ was shot. He felt that things got even worse for the DiMeras. Holly was at the square and tried to reach out to her mother to tell her about EJ. She ran into Sophia at the square. Sophia heard about their breakup. She said Tate was on his way to the Kiriakis mansion. Holly was horrid that he was on his way there. Doug was getting dressed when Tate knocked on Holly’s door. Tate barged into her room and saw Doug in his underwear. Sarah saw Stephanie at the hospital. She thanked her for getting Alex to go along with the secret. Stephanie warned her that it wasn’t over yet. Kate checked her phone. She looked at the gun in her pocketbook.

JJ and the police were at the DiMera mansion. He found out Jada was missing. Kristen came downstairs and asked if it was true that EJ got shot. She asked if he was dead. JJ told her he was alive. When she was about to go see EJ, JJ stopped her. He asked her where she was that night. Kristen said she was at Brady’s place, but she didn’t know how long. She said she and EJ spoke when she got home. After she spoke to EJ, she went to take a shower. JJ wondered why she took a shower. Kristen said she does that before she goes to bed. She didn’t like that he tried to imply that she was washing off evidence and denied trying to kill him or anyone. JJ gave her a rundown of the people she tried to kill. Kristen told him about the people who wanted to kill EJ. JJ flashed back to Gabi pulling a gun on EJ. Kristen told him to catch the shooter. JJ told her not to leave town. Jada was drinking at the Small Bar when Shawn came in. She let him know that Rafe kicked her out and told him what happened. Jada blamed herself for not figuring out Arnold sooner. Shawn told her that EJ was shot. When Jada attempted to stand up, Shawn caught her. He noticed her gun was missing and wondered where it was. Jada said she locked it in her desk and forgot to take off her holster. She said she wasn’t thinking clearly since Rafe threw her out. He told her she was too drunk to show up to work and suggested she go home and sleep it off. When Jada said she didn’t have anywhere to go, Shawn said he would take her to his place.

Leo and Gabi ran into each other at the town square. When she insulted him, he warned her a killer was on the loose. He told her someone shot EJ. A shocked Gabi asked what happened. Leo said he didn’t find out much from the police, but they didn’t think EJ would survive the shooting. Gabi thought it would have been good if EJ didn’t survive. Leo was surprised she hated EJ so much. Gabi told him why she hated EJ. Leo wondered who she thought shot EJ. Gabi said the person was her hero. Leo wanted to quote her for the paper, but she refused to let him quote her. Gabi thought people would think she shot EJ. When she and Leo were finished talking, she called the hospital to get an update on EJ. Rafe came home and flashed back to Gabi blaming EJ for everything. Javi wondered where he was. Rafe said he went to get beer. Javi said they had plenty of beer. He asked what was wrong with Rafe. Rafe denied that there was anything wrong, but Javi didn’t believe him. He told Javi that he was thinking about EJ. Rafe told Javi about Jada sleeping with Shawn. Javi was shocked but understood after what Arnold did. He said Jada was devastated and heartbroken and said Rafe should forgive her. Rafe said he didn’t know if he could and didn’t understand how Jada didn’t know it wasn’t him. Javi said no one knew. He told Rafe that he and Jada loved each other and warned him not to take it out on her. Javi told him to take his anger out on EJ to which Rafe said he already did. When Rafe said he didn’t want to talk about it, Leo came in and told them about EJ getting shot. Rafe said he put a bug in the DiMera mansion to which Leo said that was where EJ got shot. Rafe said he had to take care of something. When Rafe left, Javi and Leo wondered what was going on. Kayla told Chad that EJ was stable, but not out of the woods. She said the bullet caused a lot of internal damage but missed his heart. Kayla said he could go see EJ. Chad went to see EJ. While Chad was talking to EJ, he had a seizure. Kayla rushed in and told Chad to leave. Chad went to Cat and blamed himself for printing the article that possibly led to EJ getting shot. Cat told him he wasn’t responsible and said it was EJ’s fault. Jada told Shawn she appreciated him giving her a place to stay, but she didn’t think Rafe would like her going home with him. Shawn said it was too late to make Rafe mad. When Shawn reminded Jada that Rafe kicked her out, she agreed to stay with him. Leo and Javi talked about Rafe and Gabi possibly being shooting EJ. Gabi checked her phone to make sure EJ died. JJ showed up. She asked if he knew who shot EJ to which he said he didn’t. Rafe went to the DiMera mansion and took the wire out of the statue. Kayla told Chad that they had to put EJ in a medically induced coma to keep him from having seizures.

EJ talked to Stefano’s portrait about everyone hating him. He said Rafe and Gabi were leading the people who were after him. EJ gave the rundown of the people who were after him. When he talked about Johnny hating him because the truth came out, he cursed Roman and Kate for telling him the truth. At the pub, Johnny went behind the bar and got the gun. Kate told Roman that Rex was in a car accident. She was worried that EJ caused Rex’s accident. If EJ was responsible, she was going to make him pay. She pulled a gun out of her pocketbook. EJ talked to Stefano’s portrait about Ava being upset with him because of Aremid, but thought Kristen was to blame for that. Ava took out the gun Melinda gave her. Later on, EJ said he was a step ahead. When he looked over his shoulder, he noticed someone was in the room with him. He asked what the person was doing. Chanel came home and realized Johnny wasn’t there. She woke up Paulina and told her Johnny wasn’t there. Chanel said Johnny went to see Roman a while ago and hadn’t heard from him since. A gunshot could be heard. EJ grabbed for his chest before falling on the floor. Chad went to the DiMera mansion and saw EJ on the floor. EJ was still alive but bleeding. Chad called for help. He told EJ help was on the way.

At the police station, JJ tried calling Gabi, but she didn’t answer. A CSI officer told JJ there was a shooting at the DiMera mansion and that EJ got shot. Chad went to the hospital and told Kat his brother was shot. He said EJ was barely hanging on. Chad told her he and EJ didn’t always get along, but they were family. He said EJ was there for him when Abby died. JJ showed up at the hospital to get his statement. Chad warned him that they were going to be there all night if he wanted a list of suspects. He said he didn’t see or hear anyone and said he was there to talk about an article in the paper. Chad said they never got a chance to talk. He said the last time he saw that much blood was when Abby died. JJ said he was going to the mansion and would keep him updated. Kate thought about EJ threatening her children and her own threat to kill him if he did anything to her children. She called Roman and said she needed him. Ava came downstairs and said she was leaving Salem for good. She said she was going to Hong Kong. Ava flashed back to her argument with EJ. When Roman showed up, Ava told him she was leaving town and thanked him for everything he did for her. Paulina and Chanel talked about Johnny and what he has been through. When they were talking about the adoption, Chanel said Johnny blamed himself for what happened. Paulina said it was EJ’s fault. Chanel said she told EJ that. A shocked Paulina asked if she talked to EJ. Chanel said they would be better off without EJ being in their lives. Paulina said she felt the same way about Lani’s father. Chanel said Amy would never let them adopt the baby as long as EJ was around. Paulina flashed back to yelling at EJ. When Paulina’s flashback was over, she told Chanel that she had something to tell her. Before Paulina could say anything, Johnny showed up. Chanel was relieved he was okay and wondered where he was. Johnny thought about the last time he saw EJ. He said he was walking in the park. Chad called him to tell him that EJ was shot. He said EJ was in surgery. Johnny couldn’t care less. JJ went to the DiMera mansion. The police were there as well. Ava took her gun out of her pocketbook and threw it in the garbage. Kate told Roman that they needed to find out if EJ had anything to do with what happened to Rex and if he was going after her children. Roman said they would figure it out and keep her children safe. When Kate went to check on Rex, Roman went behind the bar and thought about Johnny asking about his gun. When he opened the case, the gun was gone. Johnny told Chanel and Paulina that EJ was shot. Chanel wanted to go with him to the hospital. Johnny said he didn’t care what happened to EJ. He said EJ deserved what he got. Kayla went over to Chad and Kat. Chad asked how EJ was.

Ava read the article about the DiMeras in The Spectator and thought about the things EJ did in the town. She believed what comes around goes around. There’s more than one way to get justice. She pulled the gun Melinda gave her out of her pocketbook. Ava thought about EJ and pointed the gun at the tablet. He wouldn’t get away with what he did. Johnny checked on Chanel to see if she was okay after the adoption fell through. She wasn’t feeling okay at all. Chanel wanted to get out of town for a little while. She wanted to drive to Chicago for the night. He thought that sounded great, but he wanted to see Roman. Johnny went to see Roman. He told him about the adoption falling through. Roman apologized for that and for telling him about the way he was conceived. Johnny let him know that he hated everything about it and now he hates his father. Roman told him that he would always be angry about it, but he may understand why his mother made the choices she made. He admitted to Johnny that there are times that he wants to pick up his gun and shoot EJ. Johnny was surprised that Roman had his gun behind the bar. Roman wanted to hide it from the kids. He apologized again for letting it slip that EJ raped Sami. Roman asked Johnny if he talked to Sami. He said that Sami has been avoiding him. Johnny let him know that it was a struggle to avoid killing EJ when he showed up looking for forgiveness. While Roman and Johnny were talking, Ava rushed out of the pub. Chanel showed up at the DiMera mansion to confront EJ about ruining the adoption. He wanted to get it over with. Chanel wanted to know why he ruined lives. She reminded him that he knew they were trying to adopt a child. All he had to do was stay out of trouble until after the adoption was finalized. She called him a dangerous man and that Amy had a right to worry about him being near her grandchild. EJ thought it was a good thing that Johnny cut him out of his life. She thought Johnny would have forgiven him if he didn’t work with the man who hurt his mother again. Chanel felt like he didn’t show remorse for what he did. She was about to leave when he asked her to tell Johnny that he loved him. Chanel agreed to do it. Belle arrived at the townhouse and took off the wire. Brady told her about what was going on with John. She wasn’t in the right headspace to be hopeful about the situation. He noticed she had a wire and wanted to know what was going on. Belle didn’t get a confession from EJ. Brady was impressed by what she tried to do to EJ. She filled him in on what happened with EJ. Belle told him that EJ said she would never get him out of her system. She was afraid he was right. Brady understood because he felt addicted to Kristen. He told her that he got over it and moved on. Belle could do it too. She realized that he moved on with Ava, but he told her that they broke up.

JJ told Shawn that Belle didn’t get EJ’s confession. He noticed that Shawn seemed preoccupied. Shawn told him that Jada was going to tell Rafe the truth. JJ reassured him that he didn’t do anything wrong. Shawn wasn’t sure how Rafe would take it. JJ offered to talk to Gabi about it. Rafe told Jada that he needed space from her and that he was going home alone. Jada wanted to know if he wanted her to move out. He said he needed space. Rafe walked away even though she cried out to him. Gabi was working at the table when Rafe arrived. She thought he would be out late with Jada. Rafe told her that Jada wasn’t coming home because she cheated on him. Gabi was shocked to hear it. She thought they were so happy when he came back. He told her that it happened before he got back. She told him that it wasn’t the same thing. Rafe didn’t like that she didn’t tell him about it right away and didn’t realize that something was wrong. Gabi tried to defend Jada, but it didn’t work. She told him that she didn’t recognize something was off either. The only person to blame was EJ. EJ ruined their lives, and Gabi wanted to kill him for it. Rafe warned her not to say that because she was risking her freedom. They wouldn’t do that to EJ, but Gabi wasn’t so sure about that. Jada went to Paulina’s place to talk. She admitted that she slept with Shawn. Paulina said they slept together after she was fired and reinstated so there wasn’t an issue. She would take care of it if it got out. Paulina knew something else was wrong. Jada told her about Rafe’s reaction. Paulina couldn’t believe he reacted that way. Jada felt like she should have known something was off because she was a detective and loved Rafe. Paulina told her that EJ was the person responsible for everything. Jada didn’t want to shift the blame, but Paulina believed every bad thing that happened was because of EJ. She believed that EJ was going to pay for everything he did. Jada received a text from Belle telling her that she failed to get a confession. Paulina didn’t think EJ would pay unless someone made him pay. She felt they would do the world a favor by ridding the world of EJ. Jada agreed with her. JJ went to Rafe’s place but no one was home. Shawn texted Jada to see if she was okay. She told him that she wasn’t okay. Jada grabbed for her gun. Chanel went home and saw Paulina asleep on the couch. She wanted to know if Johnny was home, but he wasn’t. Chanel hoped nothing was wrong. Roman got a phone call so Johnny went behind the bar and grabbed the gun. Ava pulled out her gun and looked around. EJ was drinking while talking to Stefano’s picture. He said he was his father’s son. Stefano was always one step ahead, and he was too. He lifted up his glass and celebrated his victory. EJ looked towards someone and asked what they were doing in his place.
