Sarah went to the pub and called Sophia a liar. She ordered Sophia to meet her at the park when she was finished. When they met in the park, Sarah wanted Sophia to tell her the truth about the baby. She told Sophia that she didn’t have to keep quiet about her situation if she knew the baby was in danger. Sarah said Tesoro wasn’t Sophia’s baby. Sophia was shocked and disgusted. Sophia said Sarah was lying. Sarah ended up telling her about the DNA test results. Sophia realized Tate wasn’t the father of her baby. She was upset at the idea of who was the father. She refused to tell Sarah who the father of the baby was. Sophia said telling Tate the truth wouldn’t help. Sarah said the truth always had a way of coming out in the end. Maggie and Philip talked about their plans before the meeting. She thought their family reuniting would help beat Tony. Maggie, Philip, and Xander went to the DiMera mansion to let Tony know that Titan was theirs. Tony let them know that Titan wouldn’t be much of a company. They were okay with that. Tony tried to get Xander to remember the way Victor treated him, but it didn’t work. When they left, Tony said he would wait it out and buy what was left when the company collapsed.

When Xander and Philip went back to the office, they agreed that the company would be fine as long as they got along. Xander said he was grateful that Philip protected him by not telling the truth about the attack. Philip said that was what family did for each other. Chanel and Johnny tried to figure out who was setting them up. Johnny said Rafe could help them. He was going to find out where the phone was when the pictures were sent. They didn’t know who sent them if it wasn’t Holly. Chanel thought EJ was the one who wanted to keep them from starting a family. Rafe called them and told them the pictures were sent from the town square while Holly was in the hospital. They realized they were set up again but didn’t know who set them up. Chanel and Johnny thought it was someone on campus with an ax to grind. Johnny realized it was Sophia. Holly told Arianna that she was dropping out of school. She told Arianna what happened with Johnny and said she was moving to Paris. Arianna tried to stop Holly from leaving, but it didn’t do any good. They said goodbye to each other. Holly went home and thought about good times with Tate. Tate went to the dorm to look for Holly. He asked Arianna if she heard the rumor about Holly and Johnny. Arianna told him everyone got the wrong idea. They talked about how Tate blew it with Holly. Arianna kicked him out of the room. When Maggie went home, Holly told her what happened with Johnny. She told Maggie that she wanted to start over somewhere else. Johnny and Chanel thought Sophia being Tesoro’s mother was the only logical explanation. Sophia told Sarah to do another DNA test to prove the baby was hers. Sarah couldn’t break her oath. Sophia didn’t want Tate to know.

Brady was at the hospital and ran into Sarah. He was picking Rachel up from therapy, and she told him that she and Xander were doing therapy too. Brady received a text confirming that Tesoro wasn’t Tate’s baby, so he told her about his theory. Sarah said that if Sophia gave her baby to the firehouse she did the right thing. Brady said it didn’t matter since the baby didn’t belong to Tate and Sophia. He said the DNA test proved it. Sarah was shocked by the news. Arianna checked out the new dorm room. Holly was ready to leave town. She received her new phone and wondered why she had so many messages from Johnny. Johnny was upset that he didn’t hear from Holly. Chanel was ready to tear Holly apart. She believed Johnny was telling the truth. Holly called Johnny, and he wanted her to come over. She arrived at Johnny and Chanel’s place, and they confronted her. They wanted to see her texts and pictures, but she lost them. Johnny showed her the picture he received, and she was horrified by it. She didn’t remember taking the picture. Holly believed the picture was meant for Tate. Johnny and Chanel talked to her about the letter. It didn’t make any sense so she decided to leave. Tate and Sophia were at the pub. She pretended to get a text about Holly seeing an older man. Sophia told him that Johnny was the older man Holly was seeing. Tate was confused and thought it was just a rumor. He wondered how Holly found out about their kiss. Sophia blamed Arianna for telling Holly about it. Tate thought she was hiding something. Sophia refused to tell him anything and stormed off.

Jada thanked JJ for his work during the blackout. JJ talked to her about his situation with Theo. She wasn’t prepared for him to hand over his resignation. He explained everything that happened, and she told him what Theo said to her. JJ didn’t think he handled the situation the right way. Jada asked him about the situation. She was happy with his answers. Jada demanded to know why he was turning his badge into her. JJ admitted that he has implicit bias like everyone else, but he tried to make sure his situation with Theo didn’t happen again. Theo’s reaction made him question whether he should be on the force. Jada thought he was a great cop. She thought he should talk to the police psychiatrist and take some time off. Jada didn’t want his resignation yet. Johnny and Chanel hesitated, but they believed Holly’s story. They thought something wasn’t right about the letter and the picture. Johnny realized that Holly’s phone was lost in the fire and the pictures were sent while she was in the hospital. He realized that she couldn’t have sent the pictures. Sarah wanted Brady to repeat what he said. She flashed back to Sophia confessing to giving up her baby. Sarah was upset and walked away. Tate apologized to Sophia and said he would drop the baby stuff. Holly arrived at the pub while Tate was touching Sophia. She called her mother and asked her to live with her. Holly never wanted to be in Salem again.

Chad got Thomas to tell him the truth about why he was upset about him dating Cat. Thomas said he was hurt to find out he lied about being with Cat. Chad was confused about why he was upset about it when he was okay with him dating Stephanie. Thomas said Stephanie didn’t pretend to be his mother. He said that he understood why his grandparents couldn’t forgive her, but didn’t understand why he was able to. Cat met with Rafe to tell him what Gwen told her about the blackout. Rafe said something was going on. They realized Gwen was involved in what’s going on with EJ. Rafe told her to get EJ to take her on a tour of the construction site. Steve and Kayla went over Tesoro’s test results. She decided to run the tests again. Jennifer showed up to surprise them. She said she was happy to see Jeremy. Kayla wasn’t happy about it. After the interviews, Jennifer talked about what’s going on with Chad and Cat, She also talked about Mark’s parole. Steve and Kayla defended Cat which upset Jennifer. Kayla told her about forgiveness and suggested that she let go of her anger. Jennifer refused to forgive.

Jeremy went to see Stephanie. He told her Julie gave her the address. Jeremy said he was in town for a job interview. Stephanie didn’t want him to come in at first, but Jeremy talked her into letting him in. Jeremy congratulated her on her book and apologized for the way he treated her. He said he thought she would have heard about him being back in town so he wanted her to know that he would leave her alone. Stephanie said she heard that he changed his life around. She was upset at herself. Jeremy accepted the blame for what happened and apologized to her. He said he wanted to apologize to her face. Jeremy promised to keep the secret that she was Anastasia. While they were talking, Stephanie thought it was hard to believe that he could be a teacher when he had a criminal record. Jeremy said he worked things out with the police and went to therapy. When Jennifer went to the Horton House, she heard Thomas tell Chad that he never wanted to see him again. He ran to Jennifer’s arms. Thomas yelled that Chad was dating Cat. When Thomas left, Jennifer ripped into Chad for dating Cat.

Stephanie told Alex about her relationship with Jeremy. She told him that Jeremy was a smuggler and abuser. Alex was ready to beat Jeremy after he heard what he did to her. Stephanie said she was ashamed that she was with Jeremy and stayed with him. Alex told her that she had nothing to be ashamed of and that it wasn’t her fault. She said it was harder to believe that in herself. Alex continued to convince her that it wasn’t her fault, but it didn’t work. She said she hadn’t thought about Jeremy but now that he’s back, she was concerned. Alex said he wanted to hurt Jeremy, but Stephanie said she was okay. Gwen yelled at EJ for leaving her trapped at the hospital. He didn’t care about her anger until she said Leo rescued her. Gwen let him know that she took care of Leo. They continued arguing until Paulina showed up. Gwen left so they could talk.

Paulina told EJ that the power company confirmed that the blackout started from the hospital. EJ refused to do what Paulina wanted so she threatened him. He threatened her by saying he would blame the aging power grid. EJ threatened to sue the city if she sued him. Gwen met with Cat for lunch. She told Cat about investing in the hospital. Cat was suspicious of Gwen. While they were talking, Cat told her about Chad forgiving her. Gwen said Chad wasn’t forgiving. They talked about Jennifer and how she hated both of them. Paulina offered to call a truce with EJ but said she would be back. EJ asked how Chanel and Johnny were. Paulina yelled at him for faking the Chanel video. She said she lost his right to know. Stephanie let Alex know that she was okay. After Alex left, Jeremy showed up with flowers.

Brady was shocked when Kayla told him that Tesoro and Tate weren’t a match. He thought it was back to square one. Brady wondered how John would have handled the situation. He said he believed Sophia had a boy and wondered why she lied about the sex of the baby. Maggie showed up to check on Holly. Kayla said Holly suffered smoke inhalation. Brady said Holly was passed out drunk. Tate begged Holly not to give up on them. Holly said he blew up what was left of their relationship. She said she couldn’t be a part of the triangle anymore and told him to leave. Maggie showed up to see Holly. When Tate left, Maggie comforted her. Holly told her what happened. She said she did what she did because Tate cheated on her again. Maggie said drugs and alcohol weren’t the answer. Holly said she would do better. Maggie said she forgave her. Tate went to talk to Brady about what happened with Sophia. Johnny let Chanel know that Holly was just a student to him so he didn’t know why she sent the pictures to him. Chanel was furious at him. Johnny said he wished he had an explanation. Chanel asked him about the letter Tesoro’s mother wrote. Johnny said he couldn’t explain the letter. He said he would do anything he could to fix the situation. Chanel said it was too late. She was afraid that they were going to lose out on the adoption if the social worker turned her report in. Johnny said they would have their family and nothing was going to stop them. Chanel said she believed him.

Sophia thought about sending Johnny the pictures of Holly and how Arianna told her that Holly was in the hospital. She reset Holly’s phone and turned off the share location feature. Arianna showed up and said there was too much smoke damage in their room. While Arianna was talking to Sophia, Holly’s phone rang. Arianna wondered if she was going to answer the phone. Sophia said it was probably her mother and ignored the call, She left to go to work. Johnny reached out to Holly but didn’t get a response. He decided to find her. Paulina went to see Chanel to ask how the visit with the social worker went. Chanel told her about the letter from Tesoro’s birth mother and the pictures on Johnny’s phone. Paulina wondered where Johnny was. Chanel said he was looking for Holly. Paulina thought it was suspicious and wondered if the thing with Johnny and Holly was real. Chanel said she believed that nothing was going on with Johnny and Holly but the damage was done. She said she was afraid that she was never going to be a mother. Tate told Brady that he believed his break up with Holly was final. He told Brady that he didn’t understand how Holly found out that he kissed Sophia. Johnny ran into Tate and Brady and wondered if they knew where Holly was. Brady and Tate told him what happened with Holly. Tate left to go to work. Brady asked Johnny what was going on. Johnny told him about the texts Holly sent him. He told Brady that the social worker saw the photos. Brady said Holly was drunk and fought with Tate. He said he didn’t see Holly doing that. Johnny told Brady about the letter from Tesoro’s birth mother. Brady told him to hang in there while he was starting to piece things together. Tate caught Sophia burying Holly’s phone in the garbage. He asked what she was doing. She lied and said she threw her phone in the garbage. Kayla ran into Brady at the town square. Brady told her about Johnny and Chanel’s visit with the social worker and the letter from Tesoro’s mother. They realized that the mother had it in for Johnny, Chanel, and Holly. Brady thought the evidence pointed to Sophia. He asked Kayla if the results were right. Kayla said she would run them again.

Stephanie and Kayla met at the hospital to talk about the hospital causing the blackout. When EJ came in, they asked him how they were going to respond. EJ said he already had it figured out. Stephanie left to get the statement out. EJ said he wasn’t interested in talking about the blackout. He said he was upset about Kayla holding a Q&A for Anastasia in her office instead of running the hospital. Kayla said she wasn’t a romance writer. She was upset that he was monitoring her computer. EJ said being a writer of a trashy novel wasn’t good for the hospital. While they were arguing, Stephanie came in and admitted to being Anastasia. EJ and Kayla were shocked. Kayla said she was proud of her. Stephanie wanted EJ to keep her secret. EJ said he would keep her secret, but she needed to stay on his good side. Sophia left the dorm and thanked Arianna for letting her sleep on the floor. While Holly was sleeping, she knocked a candle in the garbage.

Brady reached Tate in the dorm. He said he was worried when he didn’t hear from Tate. Tate said he was okay. A fire alarm went off. They smelled smoke. Tate found Arianna coming out of the bathroom while Brady found Holly in the dorm. There was smoke in the room. Tate and Arianna rushed to the room. Brady put out the fire. He picked Holly up and took her to the hospital. While they were waiting to find out what was going on with Holly, Brady realized Tate was drunk. Brady ripped into Tate for drinking. Kayla told them Holly was going to be okay. Brady and Kayla talked about the DNA test when Tate left to talk to Holly. A social worker went to see Johnny and Chanel. Things went well until she read the letter Sophia wrote. Sophia set the social worker a picture of Holly. When the social worker mentioned the student relationship part in the letter, Holly’s picture showed up on Johnny’s phone. Johnny hid his phone, but the social worker wanted to see it. Johnny gave her the phone, Chanel was furious. The social worker decided it was time to leave. Tate tried to apologize to Holly, but it didn’t do any good. Holly said there was no going back. Chanel didn’t want to hear what Johnny had to say. She blamed him for ruining everything again. Kayla told Brady that Tate wasn’t Tesoro’s father.

Theo and Paulina went to Jada’s office to talk to her about the blackout and looting. Paulina put a curfew into effect. It turned out that EJ and the hospital were responsible for the blackout. Jada planned to make him pay for what he did. Paulina said he was already suffering, and Jada was thrilled to hear it. She said that he was stuck in an elevator, and she planned to make sure he stayed there. Theo went to get Paulina’s phone and ran into JJ. He panicked and froze when JJ wanted him to turn around. Theo stared at JJ. JJ realized who he was, and Theo snapped at him. He told JJ that he was doing what he did before when he shot him. If JJ had a gun on him, Theo would be dead. Theo told him that he saw a black man at the wrong place at the wrong time, and he gets on the offensive. JJ denied his accusation, but Theo continued to rip into him. He wanted to talk to Theo because something felt off between them. Theo agreed that something was off which was why he didn’t talk to him in almost a year. He was upset with JJ ever since he rejoined the police force. JJ told him that he quit because he didn’t have the best judgment when he was a cop. Theo didn’t think his judgment changed since he returned to the force. Belle woke up and realized she was still trapped with EJ. She didn’t hesitate to tell him that she regretted getting involved with him. EJ reminded her that she showed up at the hospital to see him. Belle refused to admit that she still wanted him. She started having an asthma attack and blamed EJ. He felt wounded and pulled back from her.

Sarah and Xander enjoyed their time together. They believed the blackout was the best thing to happen to them. Their reunion could be short lived since Xander didn’t want to try couples’ therapy. Sarah refused to let him back out of getting therapy. He reluctantly agreed to work things out. They were hoping they could stay in bed together as long as the power stayed out. Unfortunately for them, the power came back on. EJ panicked and called for help. Belle’s asthma seemed to get worse. EJ tried to help her calm down and agreed that they were done for good. The power returned and they got out of the elevator. They shared an awkward goodbye before she headed home. Gwen sent EJ a text informing him that his electrician caused the blackout. Paulina was worried about where Theo went. Jada wondered if he was okay. The power came back on in the office. Paulina was about to tell Jada about Theo when he returned. He told Jada that his concerns about JJ were warranted after what happened during the blackout. Theo told Jada that she needed to talk to JJ about racial profiling. He let Paulina know that he wanted to go home. JJ pulled out his badge and stared at it.
