Xander goes to visit Marlena in the hospital. Marlena thanks him for the flowers he sent. Xander says he intended to deliver them in person, but he heard Sarah was also in the hospital and wanted to see her. Xander adds that Sarah didn’t want to see him and when he got to her room, she was with Brady.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Brady comes out of the shower in a towel and runs in to Sarah in the hallway.

Javi and Gabi are at the Brady Pub, looking through a wedding catalog. Javi thanks Gabi for helping him pick out Leo’s ring as he knows Leo is not her favorite person. Gabi responds that Javi is her favorite cousin though and she just wants him to be happy. Javi says he’s very happy and he’s grateful that Gabi and Leo seem to be getting along. Javi is glad they are seeing the best in each other and asks if they are friends now but Gabi says she wouldn’t go that far.

Jada goes to see Rafe at home and admits it’s a little weird being back there, but says it’s so good to be somewhere other than the police station as her phone has been ringing off the hook. Rafe figured she could use some peace and quiet. Rafe talks about all the different agencies involved in this search. Jada is happy to partner with anyone who can help find the missing DiMeras and prevent anyone else from being taken.

Johnny and Chanel walk through the town square with Trey and talk about getting used to be followed by security detail. Chanel calls it surreal to think that something could happen to them and says her heart breaks for Theo. Johnny knows it’s hard not to worry, but encourages trying to act like everything is okay for Trey. Chanel agrees as Trey then wakes up crying. Chanel says he needs a diaper change so she’ll be right back. Chanel walks off with Trey as EJ then approaches Johnny.

Marlena asks if it bothered Xander to see Sarah with Brady. Xander admits it does even though he signed the divorce papers, but part of him can’t accept that it’s over. Marlena didn’t realize he signed the papers. Xander says it’s what Sarah wanted and he didn’t want to stand in her way. Marlena knows that must have been very hard for him. Marlena offers to recommend him another therapist until she’s back on her feet. Xander appreciates the offer but doesn’t think he could trust another therapist like her, so he will patiently wait on her recovery. Marlena says to let her know if he changes his mind. Marlena tells him that she’s so sorry about he and Sarah.

Brady apologizes to Sarah as he didn’t think anyone would be in the hallway. Sarah tells him that it’s okay since he lives there now. Brady explains that he was in the shower and there was no shampoo. Sarah says she will get him some. Brady thanks her and says he’ll go put a robe on but Sarah says he doesn’t have to, pointing out that she’s seen plenty of half naked bodies as a doctor. Brady says he knows what she means and heads back in to his room.

Jada didn’t realize Rafe had been investigating the DiMeras all this time. Rafe reminds her that he has a personal interest in bringing down EJ after everything he did. Jada mentions being especially worried about Theo. Rafe brings up Jada meeting Theo at the Pub but he never showed. Jada reveals it was actually a date. Rafe understands her concern, but feels it bolsters the case that EJ is behind it. Jada agrees that getting Theo out of the way would open a lane for EJ to run DiMera which Rafe calls EJ’s life goal. Jada points out that Chad has nothing to do with DiMera, so she questions why EJ would take him. Rafe agrees that it doesn’t make sense. Jada says it’s hard to know where to begin when the DiMeras have so many enemies. Rafe says none greater than one another.

Javi questions if Gabi is saying she still can’t stand Leo. Gabi says that’s not what she meant, but she doesn’t consider him a friend. Gabi acknowledges that Leo has definitely improved. Javi assures that he is marrying the new and improved Leo. Gabi agrees that they made amazing foster parents. Javi calls it the best experience of his life to take care of baby Trey. Gabi knows how much he misses him. Javi says that being his Godparents and being able to see him whenever they want helps.

EJ tells Johnny that it’s a happy coincidence since he was just on his way to his apartment. Johnny has no idea why since he knows they don’t want him there. EJ hoped in this case he would make an exception considering the danger they are all in. EJ says he just needed to see with his own eyes that his son is okay. Johnny says he sees him so now he can go. EJ offers him private security and says there is one other thing he wants to discuss and that’s the future of their family.

Xander calls it ironic that Brady gave him the push he needed to sign the divorce papers by reminding him that he lost his family because of his inability to control his anger. Xander says he’s been working on that but admits he’s not there yet and until he is there, he can’t be the husband and father that Sarah and Victoria deserve, so right now this is what he has to do. Marlena asks if he doesn’t regret signing the divorce papers. Xander says no and that he just worries that while he’s trying to become a better man, Brady will move in on Sarah.

Brady goes to the living room and watches Sarah play with Victoria.

Javi points out the Brady Pub’s trivia night. Gabi tells him that she was there last night with Theo and they were talking about it right before he disappeared. Gabi brings up when Javi accused her of kidnapping Tony. Javi says he just said that Tony’s disappearance made Theo vulnerable. Gabi asks if he think she would commit a felony because she got screwed out of a job. Javi says he just knows how angry she was at Tony. Gabi admits that she is angry but not enough to risk being separated from her daughter again. Javi apologizes and says he’s just worried that she’s going to be in trouble. Gabi understands that after losing baby Trey, he’s afraid of losing someone else in his life. Gabi assures that he won’t lose her and she wouldn’t do anything to risk that. Gabi promises that she had nothing to do with whatever happened to Tony and Theo as they hug.

Rafe tells Jada that it appears someone has been sleeping in the DiMera secret room and shows her the pictures. Jada asks where he got the pictures. Rafe responds that he was working with another agency and that’s all he can say. Jada says it’s possible that the person could be one of the kidnap victims. Rafe says it doesn’t appear they are being held against their will and from experience, he knows how EJ likes his prisoners tied up. Jada says it could be one of EJ’s prisoners or it could be someone helping him take prisoners. Rafe feels they need to get back in that room to go through it. Jada agrees to get a warrant.

Johnny assumes that EJ is talking about their missing relatives and asks if there’s anything he can do to help. EJ talks about DiMera Enterprises always being a family run business so it’s more important than ever to have a DiMera at the helm. Johnny questions this being about the company. EJ says they took their eye off the ball and almost lost everything to the Kiriakis family, so they cannot let that happen again. EJ talks about everything at stake and not letting the ship sink. EJ declares that someone needs to be in that CEO chair. Johnny questions EJ implying it should be him. EJ asks why not, arguing that Johnny is more than up to the task. Johnny can’t believe that EJ is worried about stock price when people’s lives are in danger. Chanel comes back with Trey and questions what is going on.

Xander tells Marlena that after everything he’s done to Brady, it would be poetic justice if he stole Sarah from him. Xander then acknowledges that Sarah is not his possession and can’t be stolen from him. Marlena asks if he wants to talk about Sarah. Xander says no and that he really did just come to check on her. Xander adds that he understands Brady’s going through a tough time too, so he tells Marlena that she can tell Brady he take off as much time as he wants. Marlena responds that it might be better if he tells him that himself.

Brady tells Sarah that he didn’t mean to interrupt. Sarah says she was just watching Victoria play. Sarah knows Brady is missing Rachel and encourages Rachel opening up in therapy. Brady says her weekly therapy visits is one thing but it’s another thing for her to be living in a psychiatric hospital. Sarah understands it being hard on him but Brady says it’s not about him. Sarah argues that his feelings matter and urges him to open up to her. Brady says now that Rachel knows the truth about EJ, she figured out that Kristen confessed to protect her. Brady admits he wasn’t prepared for all of her questions about if Kristen is going to be okay, if she’s safe, if she’s mad at her. Brady says that Rachel feels like she’s to blame for Kristen breaking out of prison. Brady hates seeing Rachel filled with anxiety and guilt. Brady tells Sarah that Rachel is very sorry for what she did to her and says she gave him something to give to her, so Brady hands an envelope to Sarah.

Javi goes home and asks Rafe what he’s working on. Rafe says it’s the case of the missing DiMeras and all of their enemies are suspects. Rafe says he doesn’t get the motive since Chad, Tony, and Theo are the good DiMeras. Rafe adds that Theo could have a target on his back as the new CEO of DiMera, but the only person he can think of who would want his job is EJ. Rafe then states that he can tell Javi is hiding something and questions what he’s not saying.

Gabi exits the Pub and runs in to Jada. Gabi asks if there’s any word on Theo. Jada says not yet but they are on it and she’s waiting for a judge to sign off for a warrant. Gabi guesses it must be crazy at the police station. Jada reveals she hasn’t been there yet as she just came from Gabi’s house as she and Rafe are coordinating on the case. Gabi asks how that went. Jada says after awhile they were right back in a rhythm and it made her realize how much she missed working with Rafe as he’s a great guy. Gabi is glad there’s no hard feelings between them. Jada then gets a text about her warrant and says with any luck, they will get the break that they need as she hurries off.

Johnny reveals to Chanel that EJ was just asking him to temporarily take over DiMera. Chanel says absolutely not. EJ asks if Johnny is going to let his wife make the decision for him. Johnny responds that he and Chanel make all their decisions together and he agrees with her 100%. Johnny tells EJ that if he wants someone from the family to run DiMera, he can do it himself. EJ responds that he would, but he has a hospital to run. Chanel tells EJ that he’s so full of it. Chanel says last night, she actually defended EJ to Paulina when she said a lot of people think he’s behind the kidnappings. Chanel says she told her that EJ is capable of a lot but he would never hurt his own family or get rid of Tony and Theo, but now he’s asking his son to take over as CEO. Chanel now thinks it’s some grand plan for EJ to get his power back and says if it is, she hopes the cops nail his ass. Chanel tells EJ to take his job offer and shove it and stay the hell away from them. EJ then storms off.

Xander tells Marlena that he imagines work is the last thing on Brady’s mind at the moment and asks how Rachel is doing. Marlena responds that she’s not sure as she hasn’t been able to talk to her doctors at Bayview yet. Xander knows it’s not his place to ask but he hopes she gets better soon. Xander says he still thinks of Rachel as the little girl that he and Sarah had for all those months. Xander then apologizes for saying that. Marlena says it’s okay as she knows how much he cares about her and she needs that now. Xander says he may have his issues with Brady but as a father, he really does feel for him because being separated from your child is Hell on earth.

Sarah reads her letter from Rachel which says she doesn’t hate her, she’s sorry about what happened and is glad she’s okay.

Rafe questions Javi revealing to him that Gabi thought she was going to be CEO of DiMera because Tony promised her if she helped him undo the Titan merger, but then he didn’t and chose Theo. Javi pleads with Rafe not to tell Gabi that he told him or she will kill him. Rafe responds that they have bigger problems than that because it gives Gabi motive to take out Theo and Tony.

Johnny and Chanel go home with Trey. Chanel apologizes for possibly overstepping with EJ but Johnny says if she didn’t say something, he would’ve. Johnny assures that he wants nothing to do with EJ. They agree that if EJ is behind Chad and Tony disappearing, then EJ is pure evil.

Jada goes to the DiMera Mansion and tells EJ that she’s there to search the premises. EJ responds that she did that already and he allowed her once, so now he’d like her to leave. Jada serves him a search warrant and tells him to deal with it as she’s coming in.

Marlena asks Xander when he last saw Victoria. Xander feels like it’s been forever, noting that Sarah refused to include visitation in the terms of the divorce and he was in no position to fight her on it. Xander declares that signing away his right to see his daughter is the most difficult thing he’s ever done. Xander says he did it without resentment in his heart and did it out of love. Marlena acknowledges it as a sacrifice and a sign of real growth because instead of hanging on, he let go because he cares so much about his daughter. Xander hoped as time went on, it would hurt less, but with each day that passes, the pain only gets worse.

Sarah asks Brady to thank Rachel for the letter and then decides she will write her back. Brady loves that Rachel wrote the letter and apologized, but he feels it’s not enough. Sarah assures that she’s okay, it’s all over now and she’s fine. Brady says he doesn’t know what he would’ve done if something happened to her.

Chanel tells Johnny that it feels wrong to celebrate Christmas with everything going on now. Johnny thinks it’s all the more reason to keep the holiday spirit alive and not let what’s going on keep them from celebrating the good. Johnny adds that it’s their first Christmas as a family, so he wants to make sure it’s special. Chanel agrees so she shows Johnny the ornament she got for baby’s first Christmas. Johnny says he loves it and Trey will too, so they show it to him.

Rafe worries to Javi that Gabi may have motive but there’s no way she would do something like this. Javi agrees and points out that it’s not just Tony and Theo that are missing. Rafe acknowledges that Gabi and Chad don’t have the best history, but they’ve been in a good place. Javi agrees that she’d have no reason for him to disappear. Rafe asks if Javi has any more details on what Gabi did to help Tony get DiMera back. Javi swears that he doesn’t know anything and that he would tell him if he did. Rafe remarks that he’s not sure he wants to know. Gabi then comes home and greets them.

Jada goes in to the tunnels while EJ complains that she already searched there and is wasting her time.

Marlena thanks Xander for visiting her. Xander thanks Marlena for everything. Marlena notices that Xander is still wearing his wedding band. Xander points out that Sarah took her band off the night she learned the truth, but he can’t bring himself to do it even though they are divorced. Xander calls it pathetic but Marlena says he’ll take it off when he’s ready. Xander responds that he’s not sure he’ll ever be.

Sarah tells Brady that he doesn’t have to worry about her. Brady responds that he can’t help it. They get close to one another but are interrupted by Victoria dropping her toy train.

EJ mocks Jada expecting to find something in the secret room in the tunnels. Jada explains that she thought maybe Kristen would hide out there and argues that if someone knew when it was safe to hide there, they’d also know when it was unsafe too.

Javi claims he has some laundry to do and hurries to his room. Gabi asks Rafe why Javi just sprinted out. Rafe asks Gabi to tell him that she didn’t have anything to do with Theo and Tony’s disappearance. Gabi questions why he would even ask her that. Rafe wants a yes or no. Gabi says of course not and argues that he knows she didn’t, questioning what Javi told him. Rafe claims that Javi told him nothing. Gabi accuses him of lying.

Johnny and Chanel hang Trey’s ornament on their Christmas tree and decide it’s perfect. Johnny declares it will be a very happy holiday. Chanel asks if he thinks the people who are lost will be found. Johnny says that’s what he’s praying for. Chanel wants it to be a merry Christmas for everyone as they kiss.

Rafe goes over his notes until he gets a call from Jada. Jada says she searched the secret room and it’s empty with the cot and clothes gone. Jada guesses someone must have tipped off EJ. Rafe guesses they are no more closer to finding anyone.

Chanel walks through the town square while on the phone with Johnny, asking him how Chicago is. Chanel mentions that Paulina and Abe are babysitting Trey while she finished up at the Bakery and adds that she found the cutest baby’s first Christmas ornament that she can’t wait to show up. Chanel tells him to hurry back as they hang up.

Sarah finds Holly in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion. Holly says she was just dropping things off from her dorm and now she’s packing for Paris. Holly talks about being excited to see Nicole, Eric, and Jude but mentions that she will miss Sarah, Maggie, and Tate.

Brady joins Tate as he finishes his shift at the Pub. Tate mentions going to see Holly and asks if Brady came for dinner. Brady says he needs to talk to him about something, so Tate asks what’s going on. Brady reveals that he’s moving out of the townhouse which shocks Tate.

Sophia and Rachel play cards at Bayview. Rachel complains about the dinner they got and that she’s starving. Rachel says she’ll ask Brady to bring them Buddy’s Burgers when he comes tomorrow. Sophia then suggests that she go get them some right now.

Stephanie is in her hotel in Chicago, on the phone with Steve. Stephanie tells him that the book signing went great, the turnout was huge, and her fans were so nice. Stephanie says she won’t be sight seeing as she is in for the night. Stephanie says she loves him as they hang up. Someone in all black appears outside of Stephanie’s room again.

Tate questions Brady moving out. Brady explains that he and Marlena are not seeing eye to eye lately when it comes to Rachel, so he doesn’t think it’s a good idea that they live under the same roof right now. Tate argues that it doesn’t make sense because Marlena has always had his back, especially when it comes to Rachel, so he asks what’s really going on here. Brady says that’s between he and Marlena and he just thinks it’s for the best. Tate says not for him. Brady feels it’s a long time coming that he get his own place. Tate feels it will probably take awhile to find a place so he won’t be leaving right away but Brady reveals he’s actually leaving tonight. Tate questions where he’s going to live in the meantime.

Holly and Sarah talk about Victoria being excited for Christmas. Sarah asks what Holly’s plans are for tonight. Holly says Tate is meeting her at the dorms so they can spend as much time together as possible before she goes to Paris. Sarah knows they will miss each other but points out that Holly won’t be gone long. Sarah is glad that Holly and Tate worked things out. Holly wishes Sarah and Xander could’ve done the same and guesses because of that, it will feel like a sad Christmas this year. Sarah agrees but says that she and Xander aren’t meant to be so it’s for the best that they are not together. Sarah mentions signing the divorce papers and waiting on the official decree, so it’s just a matter of time before she gets to move on with her life without Xander in it.

Rachel questions Sophia thinking she’s just going to walk out of Bayview to get them Buddy’s Burgers. Sophia responds that Rachel is going to help her do it.

Chanel goes home where Paulina tells her that she just got Trey to sleep. Chanel thanks her as Paulina says it’s no trouble. Chanel talks about Paulina and Abe being patient with Trey. Chanel asks where Abe is. Paulina responds that Abe is not there and reveals that no one seems to know where Theo is.

Stephanie is startled by her hotel room door being opened so she goes to attack but it turns out to be Alex coming to surprise her.

Tate questions Brady moving in to the Kiriakis Mansion tonight. Brady calls it temporary but says that Maggie generously offered him a room for as long as he needs it. Tate questions what he’s supposed to do since the dorms are closing for the holidays. Brady assures him this has nothing to do with him as it’s between he and Marlena. Brady adds that Tate can stay with Marlena if he wants. Tate doesn’t know what he wants to do. Brady knows it’s sudden and a lot to take in. Brady says it’s entirely up to him but kind of hoped he’d like to come to the Kiriakis Mansion with him, so at least he’d have one of his kids with him during the holidays.

Sophia tells Rachel that she’s been scoping the place out since day one and thinks she found a crack in security. Sophia explains how she found out when one of the security guards always takes a smoke break, so she thinks she can sneak out and be back before anyone knows she’s missing. Sophia says she will need Rachel to have her back.

Chanel questions Theo missing. Paulina says that Abe went out to join the search but adds that Chad is also missing and since Tony also went missing in Greece, the police think someone could be targeting the DiMera family. Chanel worries that means Johnny, her, or Trey could be next.

Stephanie panics that she could’ve hurt Alex and says she’s mad as hell that he would scare her like that, but she’s also very happy he’s there as she hugs him and they kiss. The person in all black outside the room drops their keycard as they turn and walk away.

Holly joins Tate at the dorms and asks if everything is okay. Tate says yes and no. Tate asks if she knew Brady was moving in to the Kiriakis Mansion. Holly says she was just there and Sarah didn’t say anything about it. Holly asks what’s going on. Tate says that apparently something went down between Brady and Marlena, but he wouldn’t tell him what it was. Tate guesses whatever it was, it was bad enough that Brady said he can’t be under the same roof as her.

Brady brings his bags to the Kiriakis Mansion where Sarah greets him and asks what all this is. Brady guesses Maggie didn’t tell her. Sarah says she’s been at work all day. Brady then reveals that he’s moving in.

Chanel tells Paulina that she was just on the phone with Johnny and he didn’t tell her anything about this. Paulina feels he obviously didn’t know what was going on and now that he does, he’s already on his way home from Chicago to protect them. Chanel worries about something happening to Johnny too. Paulina tells her not to go there and promises to make sure their family is safe as they hug.

Alex asks about Stephanie’s book signing. She tells him it went very well. Alex asks if there was no signs of the creepy letter writing guy. Stephanie says no and that she told him there was nothing to worry about. Alex informs her that the guy sent more letters and it’s making his skin crawl. Stephanie insists it’s just an overzealous, harmless fan and promises to ignore any love letters. Alex says he just wanted to make sure she was okay. Alex calls her perfect as they kiss.

Rachel asks Sophia what exactly she would have to do. Sophia says she just needs to go to her bed and put the covers over her head so that the nurse thinks she’s already asleep when she comes for bed checks, then come back to her room when they check on her. Sophia says then Rachel can let her in the side door and they will feast. Rachel is unsure. Sophia encourages her about Buddy’s Burgers, so Rachel gives in and agrees to do it.

Alex and Stephanie kiss in bed.

Brady assures Sarah that he won’t be there forever and it’s only until he finds a place. Sarah says there’s plenty of space and it’d be nice to have his company, but she’s just surprised as she didn’t know he was thinking about moving out of Marlena’s. Brady clarifies that he wasn’t until recently. Sarah asks what happened. Brady reveals that he found out Marlena knew that Rachel shot EJ and kept it from him for months. Sarah is surprised and says that doesn’t sound like Marlena. Brady explains that Marlena said she was looking out for Rachel and didn’t want the new to get out before she decided that Rachel could handle it. Sarah guesses that makes sense but Brady says not to him. Brady argues that he’s her dad and deserved to know what’s going on with his daughter. Brady feels if he knew what was happening, he could’ve helped her or prevented her from hurting Sarah and maybe she wouldn’t be in a mental institution now.

Rachel sneaks out of her room at Bayview.

Paulina assures Chanel that she will have police outside her apartment 24/7 until the situation is resolved. Paulina adds that Chanel, Johnny, and Trey could move in with her and Abe to get their personal security as well. Chanel argues that it didn’t help Theo. Paulina argues that they didn’t know Theo was in danger but now that they know there’s a threat, they will be on high alert until this is over. Chanel asks if she thinks Johnny or Trey could be a target. Paulina says there’s no way to know for sure. Chanel can’t believe this since Johnny disowned EJ and walked away from the DiMera family, yet they are all still in danger all because of their last name.

Holly asks if Tate is going to move in with Brady or stay with Marlena. Tate says that Brady said it was up to him, but he could tell that he wants to come with him. Holly points out that if Tate does go with Brady, they’ll be under the same roof for winter break. Tate points out that Holly will be in Paris. Holly says not the whole break and then points out that Arianna already moved back home, so they can focus on being in the dorm tonight all by themselves as they kiss.

Rachel hides under the covers in Sophia’s bed as the nurse comes for bed checks.

The nurse leaves the room without detecting Rachel in Sophia’s place.

Brady tells Sarah that he wouldn’t be able to live with himself after what Rachel did to her. Sarah stops him and assures that she’s fine. Sarah adds that Rachel will be fine too. Brady prays that she’s right, pointing out that Rachel did shoot her uncle. Sarah points out that EJ is also fine now and it was just a terrible accident. Sarah talks about Rachel being through so much in her life, so it’s no wonder she needs the help she’s getting. Sarah says she loves Rachel and admits finding out what she did shook her, but it doesn’t change how she feels about her. Sarah talks about the bond they developed when she thought Rachel was her daughter and says it will always be there. Brady feels Rachel is lucky to have Sarah in her corner and in her life. Sarah goes over everything Rachel has been through and asks if there’s been any progress on finding Kristen. Brady says no and now he finds himself feeling guilt for being so angry at Kristen for putting Rachel on the stand during Johnny’s trial while she was just trying to protect her. Sarah asks if it changed his feelings about Kristen. Brady says as Rachel’s mother it does, but not as his ex.

Alex and Stephanie lay in bed together as Stephanie tells him that he can surprise her anytime he wants. Alex jokes that next time he’ll call first as they continue kissing.

Chanel asks Paulina if the police have any idea who could be behind all of this. Paulina responds that there are those who are suspicious of EJ. Chanel argues that EJ is capable of anything but they know he loves his family, so she can’t see him wanting to hurt Chad, Theo, or Tony and definitely not Johnny and Trey. Paulina agrees that she has a point. Chanel states that the DiMeras are all about family. Chanel brings up everything going on between her and EJ, feeling he obviously doesn’t consider her family so she’s the only DiMera she could see EJ wanting to hurt. Paulina says there is no way EJ is going to hurt her, especially after what he pulled during the trial, or else Johnny will never speak to him again. Paulina encourages Chanel to get some rest and says she’ll take care of Trey if he wakes up until Johnny comes home. Paulina assures Chanel that the police are out front and not going anywhere, so they will be just fine. Chanel tells her that she loves her and heads to her bedroom. Paulina then prays for her not to be made to be a liar.

Sophia returns to Rachel with Buddy’s Burgers. Rachel can’t believe she did it. Sophia encourages that they did it.

Sarah tells Brady that she knows it’s not the best circumstances but she’s glad he will be staying there awhile. Brady wants to make sure he’s not imposing. Sarah assures there’s plenty of room, pointing out there are 6 or 7 vacant guest rooms. Brady responds that he’s grateful to her and Maggie, adding that he’ll get to spend more time with Victoria. Sarah asks how Rachel is doing. Brady says every time he goes to see her at Bayview, she begs him to take her home, but she is making progress with therapy so he hopes she won’t be there very long. Sarah asks how he is doing. Brady says he’s just trying to be strong for Rachel’s sake, but he thinks about the pain she’s in and how unhappy she is. Brady calls it unfair as he wishes he could take her home where she belongs. Brady complains that little girls aren’t supposed to suffer like that and be unhappy. Brady comments on what she’s been through and asks when it’s going to stop. Brady repeats that it’s unfair as Sarah hugs him.

Rachel tells Sophia that she was so scared when the nurse came in but Sophia says she knew Rachel could handle it. Rachel asks how Sophia paid for their food. Sophia reveals that she “borrowed” some money out of one of the CNA’s purses. Rachel asks if she means she stole it. Sophia claims that she intends to pay it back someday which makes Rachel laugh as Sophia says it’s us against them. Rachel admits this is the most fun that she’s had since being here. Sophia calls Rachel her bestie and declares that the fun’s not over yet as their adventures are just beginning.

Holly suggests instead of going to live with Brady or staying with Marlena, Tate come with her to Paris. Tate asks if she’s serious. Holly says Eric and Nicole have tons of room and talks about how amazing Paris is. Tate agrees it sounds amazing and decides to go with her.

Alex tells Stephanie that he can’t stop thinking about the future and where he wants to be in five years. Alex hopes maybe they will be married, starting a family, and growing old together. Alex says he really likes the idea of them being together forever and asks if that scares her. Stephanie says not at all and that he’s making her heart beat faster in a happy way. Alex then asks where she sees herself in five years. Stephanie says definitely in his arms as they kiss. Stephanie’s laptop is on DevotedBeyond.com where a post from “SandsFan69” says that they are so in love with Anastasia Sands and that they could finally be together if only they could get rid of her loser boyfriend.

Rafe remains on the phone with Jada and asks her to have JJ keep an eye on Thomas and Charlotte while he assigns a protective detail to the rest of the DiMeras. Rafe adds that he just talked to Sami and she has Sydney covered while Johnny is in Chicago with Stephanie, but they have security on them too. Rafe agrees that it would be good to have someone on baby Trey right as Javi comes home and asks what’s going on with Trey.

Leo sits at the Brady Pub, working on an article for the Spectator about Chad missing when Gwen arrives and sees his screen, shocked to learn that Chad is missing.

Chad and Kristen argue about whether or not EJ is behind their kidnapping while Tony attempts to sleep. Chad argues that EJ being behind it doesn’t make sense. Theo agrees that if EJ were after their inheritance, there would be better ways to go about it than locking them down here. Kristen decides it doesn’t matter since EJ wouldn’t be able to get all of their inheritance unless they were all dead and gone. Chad declares that whoever is behind this is not going to win and they will get home to their families. Chad states that because they are DiMeras, they will win.

Dr. Rolf works in his lab with dead rats.

EJ and Cat lean in close to one another until Susan walks in and startles them.

Leo guesses he should refrain from writing headlines in public. Gwen asks if it’s true that Chad is really missing. Leo confirms it is and says she can save her performance because he knows she doesn’t really care about Chad. Gwen argues that it wasn’t long ago that Leo was treating Chad miserably. Leo admits that he has behaved towards Chad in the past in ways he deeply regrets. Gwen says she regrets it too and isn’t proud of it. Leo calls it nice to just admit things and he’s glad they’ve established that despite their past crappy treatment of Chad, they both care about him. Leo says now their cards are on the table and asks what they are going to do about it.

Rafe finishes his call with Jada while Javi questions why he was talking to Jada about Trey. Rafe responds that apparently, several DiMeras have gone missing in recent days, starting with Tony, then Chad, and now Theo. Rafe says that no one can get a hold of any of them. Javi tries to laugh off what could’ve happened but questions if Rafe thinks they have been kidnapped. Rafe says that is the official presumption, but there’s been no ransom demand so they are puzzled and don’t know if they are dead or alive. Javi calls it awful as Rafe explains that they are short on manpower, so they can’t put someone on every extended member of the DiMera family which now includes baby Trey. Javi questions if Johnny can’t afford to hire someone. Javi declares that if he won’t, he will move in with Johnny and Chanel himself because he will not lose another child.

Susan questions what the hell EJ is doing and says she knows she saw him with his brother’s girlfriend and they were definitely not playing checkers. Susan asks what is the matter with him. Cat thinks back to drugging EJ’s drink. EJ responds that he honestly doesn’t know and apologizes to Cat, saying it was highly inappropriate to make that kind of advance. EJ says he’s not feeling very well, so Susan checks if he has a fever. Susan notes he’s a little warm but not burning up. EJ says he’s probably just tired so he tells Cat they will have to take a rain check on dinner. Cat tells EJ to rest up and tells Susan it was nice to meet her. EJ tells Cat that she will be the first to know if he hears from Chad. Cat thanks him and exits.

Kristen asks what Chad’s master plan is then since she and Tony have had no success. Chad suggests climbing up to bust through the roof, but Kristen says it’s too high up and she doesn’t trust them to be on top. Theo calls it the simplest possible solution.

Gwen asks if Leo just asked what they are going to do about Chad’s disappearance, pointing out that they don’t work for law enforcement. Leo says he’s no policeman but he is an investigative reporter while Gwen lives with EJ. Leo declares it’s time to get the band back together because when Gwen and Leo work together like a buddy cop movie, they are an unstoppable force. Gwen admits they worked together well until Leo decided he worked better with her husband. Leo says he will regret that until his dying breath and that he’s gone over the extensive damage that caused with his therapist. Leo suggests this could be one of the steps to making amends by working together for the greater good. Leo argues that they both know EJ is suspect #1. Gwen asks what makes him say that. Leo says police always look at family first and asks who else would be able to make DiMeras disappear without a trace, adding that no one would stand to benefit more than EJ.

Susan questions what EJ and Cat were talking about regarding Chad. EJ informs her that Chad and Theo have apparently gone missing. Susan calls that awful and questions two of EJ’s brothers missing and now his nephew. EJ tells her not to worry about him as he’s fine and promises his guard is up. Susan responds that she’s worried that EJ is up to no good and that he’s the one who made his brothers disappear.

Kristen is on the floor, screaming in pain with a sprained ankle after the plan to boost her up didn’t work out. Kristen refuses Chad’s help as he apologizes and calls it an accident. Kristen then decides she does need his help, but not with her ankle, with her daughter. Kristen says since she’s been in prison, Brady barely lets her talk to Rachel, let alone see her, so she wants to know how she’s doing. Chad says he told her about the pumpkin thing. Kristen brings up Thomas and Rachel being in the same class, so they must tell him something. Chad thinks Rachel has been acting out. Kristen says that’s to be expected because she misses her mother. Kristen continues to accuse Chad of not telling her something and she wants to know what’s going on. Chad says Rachel is not exactly the best influence on Thomas, but she’s his niece and he loves her while she’s going through a lot. Kristen argues that Thomas is too since he wants to live with Jack and Jennifer. Theo tells them that’s enough. Theo brings up how Abe told him it was a mistake to work with the DiMeras, but he told him that it was his choice. Theo is starting to think that Abe was right.

Rafe tells Javi not to worry as they have no information to indicate Trey is in any danger. Rafe says he only suggested keeping an eye on him and the rest of the DiMeras out of an abundance of caution. Javi apologizes for getting crazy there and says that’s good to hear. Cat then shows up at the door. Javi questions what she is doing there.

Gwen tells Leo that she’s a bit skeptical. Leo questions if she doesn’t think EJ is capable of disappearing his relatives. Gwen thinks back to questioning EJ about Tony’s disappearance and pointing out how they did so to Dimitri. Gwen tells Leo that it seems a bit extreme to do something so cruel. Gwen says she knows EJ cares for his family, especially Tony and Chad, so she doesn’t think he’s the culprit in this. Leo suggests Gwen could have a crush on EJ and that’s why she’s on his team now. Gwen denies that and declares that if she does hear anything about Chad, the police will be the first to know and not Leo. Gwen then gets up and leaves the Pub.

Kristen tells Theo that she is sorry that he had to rejoin the fold, only to get locked up with them. Chad says if EJ is responsible for this, he would have to disappear a lot more of them to get his hands on the inheriance. Chad brings up Megan and asks where she is. Kristen says she has no idea but doubts Megan would resurface to claim her piece, because she knows the police would arrest her as soon as she stepped foot in Salem. Chad brings up Stefan while Kristen brings up Peter. Theo says he forgot about Peter. Chad says everybody does. Kristen says that’s enough naming DiMeras and they need to focus on getting out of here. Theo declares that it’s time for plan B.

Susan asks EJ again if he had anything to do with his brothers vanishing. EJ questions why people keep asking him that and assures he did not. Susan argues that there is something off about Cat and there’s something about her that she just does not trust.

Cat apologizes for not calling first. Javi jokes that no one calls first around here. Rafe asks what’s going on. Cat says she just brought a thank you card for taking care of her nephew and it’s a gift card to the Bakery. Javi thanks her and says he has to get going to meet Leo for dinner, so he exits. Rafe tells Cat that was close. Cat apologizes and says she was texting Rafe and he wasn’t responding but she needed to speak with him. Rafe asks what’s going on. Cat responds that she doesn’t know where to start.

Javi joins Leo at the Pub as Leo is still working on his article about Chad missing. Javi says he has something to tell him that’s not good news. Javi explains that he just talked to Rafe and he can add Theo to the list of missing people. Javi adds that Rafe thinks someone is going after all the DiMeras. Javi says there’s no reason for them to think Trey would be in any kind of danger, but he’s honestly worried. Leo says they have to do something and suggests EJ might have answers. Javi asks how to get those answers. Javi suggests they follow EJ around and record his every move which Leo calls brilliant. Javi worries it could take a lot of time, but Leo says it won’t because someone has already done the work for them.

Cat explains to Rafe that she was beginning to think EJ had something to do with Chad’s disappearance, so she did something to spark EJ’s memory and remind him that they were in the clinic together. Rafe thought they decided that was a bad idea. Cat says maybe it was, but it worked and she got invited to dinner and drinks at the DiMera Mansion, but by the time she got there, Chad was already missing. Rafe questions what Cat did. Cat reveals that she drugged EJ to search the mansion which shocks Rafe, who asks if she’s crazy.

EJ tells Susan that there is nothing off about Cat. Susan says he doesn’t have to snap and that she’s just looking out for him. EJ understands and assures that he just needs a good night’s sleep. Susan feels the same and exits. EJ then gets a text and hurries out of the mansion.

Kristen talks to Chad and Theo about trying to dig her way out of the crypt but getting nowhere. Theo says they need some kind of tool and takes from the burial wall. Theo suggests maybe they’ll get somewhere now that there’s four of them.

Rafe can’t believe Cat drugged EJ. Cat asks what choice she had when Chad is missing and she wasn’t just going to do nothing. Cat argues that it’s what Rafe would’ve done. Rafe argues that she is not a trained agent and is not to go off and take matters in to her own hands. Rafe warns Cat how dangerous the DiMeras are. Cat insists that it worked and EJ is none the wiser. Cat says she chose this drug because when EJ came around, he didn’t even know passed out and thought he just dozed off for a minute. Rafe asks if there were no signs to being drugged. Cat flashes back to when she and EJ almost kissed. Cat then tells Rafe there was nothing out of the ordinary and asks him to trust her. Cat calls it a perfect plan and says he will not believe what she found.

Susan returns to the living room to retrieve her purse as Dr. Rolf emerges from the tunnels. Susan questions what he’s doing there.

Leo tells Javi that Holly shared a video with him from the gala that shows EJ bragging to everyone because it’s such a huge project to him. Leo then remembers that the gala was the day Kristen broke out of prison, so he wonders if Kristen is missing at all. Leo believes the clinic could be the key to whatever plot that EJ is cooking up, so there could be a clue in the video.

EJ angrily goes to the clinic and questions Gwen as to what was so important. Gwen asks if EJ is behind the DiMeras missing. EJ tells her not to start. Gwen complains that she knows what he’s capable of and has put a lot of money in to this big plan of his. EJ tells her to calm down. Gwen brings up EJ telling her that Dr. Rolf mixing Versavix can become a powerful concoction that can expound Dr. Rolf’s ability to bring people back to life, starting with the person in the pod and they would be rich if he succeeds. EJ asks what the issue is. Gwen complains that she’s running out of patience and asks what the hell is taking so long. EJ questions her wondering why Dr. Rolf hasn’t put a rush on the miracle of life. EJ yells at her that they are very lucky Dr. Rolf is working for them and he has far more pressing matters to attend to, like his brothers missing and no one has a damn clue where they are.

Cat tells Rafe that she searched EJ’s room, office, and closet. Rafe asks what she found. Cat says nothing was out of the ordinary but then shows him pictures of the secret room in the tunnels and asks what he notices. Rafe says it wouldn’t be the first time that EJ had someone hiding out in his basement and asks if she thinks it’s Kristen. Cat shows Rafe the photo of the shoes that are men’s size 11 so it’s definitely not Kristen. Rafe asks who she thinks it is then.

Susan asks Dr. Rolf again what he’s doing there. Dr. Rolf responds that he told EJ that he was visiting Salem, so he kindly offered him a place to stay. Susan questions that being in the secret room instead of one of the extra bedrooms or at the Salem Inn. Dr. Rolf says he was seeking a quiet lodging away from the crowd. Susan questions what he’s doing in the basement. Dr. Rolf claims he’s in the middle of a crime novel that he would like to get back to and goes back in to the tunnels.

Kristen tells Chad and Theo that it’s an improvement but not great. Chad compares it to the movie Escape From Alcatraz. Theo seems to find something in the ground.

Leo and Javi watch the gala video. Leo brings up finding Gwen at the clinic lab on the night of the blackout and now Gwen is living in the DiMera Mansion. They wonder if Gwen is EJ’s partner in crime.

Dr. Rolf joins EJ and Gwen at the lab. Gwen asks him how much longer his drug will bring dead rats back to life. Dr. Rolf says it won’t be anytime soon but they have a bigger problem as Susan spotted him at the mansion and he could tell that she sensed something was amiss. EJ calls that the last thing he needs right now.

Susan talks to the portrait of Stefano about Dr. Rolf being down in the secret room and wonders what Stefano knows about it.

Cat tells Rafe that she doesn’t know who is in EJ’s basement but they know someone is. Rafe admits it’s valuable information but it doesn’t confirm that EJ is behind Chad’s disappearance. Rafe warns that she could’ve risked her cover or her life for nothing. Cat argues that it’s not for nothing and if EJ didn’t take Chad, they could mark him off the suspect list. Rafe says that he knows how she feels about Chad but repeats that what she did was dangerous and unethical as she is not a trained agent. Rafe argues Cat that he would say she’d be about blown off the case but he’s not going to do that. Cat thanks him but Rafe warns that if she goes off on her own again, he will call Shane. Cat says she understands and gives her word that she won’t do anything like this again. Cat apologizes for acting impulsively as she’s just desperate to find Chad.

Theo reveals to Chad and Kristen that he found a bone and that it looks like it’s from a human.

EJ tells Cat that hopefully Chad will show up, surprised by all the worry he caused. Cat asks if he actually believes that will happen. EJ says his team is on it as well as law enforcement, so he believes that both of his brothers will turn up safe and sound. Cat toasts to that as EJ takes a drink from the cup that Cat drugged. EJ says he’s starving and is going to go check on the food. Cat says she will go check but EJ then passes out on the couch. Cat says she’s sorry that dinner will have to wait because Chad is missing and if EJ had anything to do with it, she will find out.

Chad tells Kristen and Tony that this person has to know that they aren’t just doing it to them, but their families too. Tony feels Chad missing his custody hearing must have set off alarm bells and the search must be on. Chad complains that he’s not going to just sit there and wait for someone to rescue them. Kristen agrees but says she’s fresh out of ideas. Tony says they’ve tried the door and picking the lock but it doesn’t budge. Chad asks what if their captor opens the door, like when they threw him in. Chad suggests having some kind of game plan next time it happens. Kristen guesses he can stand by the door 24/7 ready to strike on the off chance that their captor comes back.

Paulina and Abe are babysitting Trey, who won’t stop crying. Abe calls Theo, who stepped out of the Pub to answer. Abe tells him they are on grandparent duty while Theo has a hard time hearing over the baby crying. Paulina then turns on the vacuum to try and calm Trey down. Abe asks Theo if he’s free tonight to join them, but they can’t hear each other and the call drops. Paulina asks if Theo is coming to help. Abe guesses Theo got frustrated and hung up. Paulina complains that she’s tried everything to get Trey settled. Abe jokes that’s been awhile as Paulina worries if she’s lost her touch. Abe says it’s okay as babies do cry. Paulina says they don’t all have the pipes that Trey does and that it’s no wonder Chanel and Johnny are exhausted.

Cat searches the living room of the DiMera Mansion and decides to enter the tunnels while EJ is passed out.

Jada goes to the Brady Pub and greets Gabi, noting it’s been awhile and asks how she’s been. Gabi says she’s great as Gabi Chic is officially hers again which has been a long time coming. Gabi asks what’s new with Jada other than coming to trivia night for her second date with Theo. Jada asks how she knew. Gabi says that Theo mentioned it while they signed the papers. Jada remembers that Gabi Chic was part of DiMera. Jada asks if Theo is there. Gabi questions her not seeing him on her way in. Gabi says that Theo stepped out awhile ago to answer a call from his dad, so she would’ve thought he was right outside. Philip then arrives and greets them. Philip kisses Gabi and says he hopes she wasn’t waiting long. Gabi says she wasn’t as they talk about studying up for trivia. Jada comments on them sounding competitive. Gabi insists they are just playing for fun. Jada says she’s somewhat of a trivia buff herself but says she’s down a teammate. Jada says she will text Theo to find out where he’s at but gets a call from JJ. Jada asks if it’s an emergency since she took the day off. JJ informs Jada that Chad has been reported missing. Jada hangs up and tells Gabi and Philip that Chad is apparently missing along with Tony. Jada decides she needs to find Theo and rushes out of the Pub. Jada then calls Abe and asks if Theo said anything about going anywhere. Abe asks how she knew he talked to Theo. Jada says she doesn’t have time to explain and asks if it sounded like Theo was going somewhere. Abe says he thought that he hung up because he couldn’t hear him and questions what’s going on. Jada says she will need to call him back and hangs up. Abe tells Paulina that Jada is looking for Theo, but she didn’t tell him why.

Cat goes into the wine cellar secret room in the DiMera Tunnels where she finds a bed and someone’s shoes. Cat uses her phone to take pictures of the room and remarks that you’d think someone with more guest bedrooms than friends could offer something better to whoever the shoes belonged to.

Jada tries to call Theo, but finds his phone rings from underneath the bench outside the Pub. Jada calls JJ and tells him that she needs a forensics team outside the Pub right now and that it’s Theo.

Chad suggests to Tony and Kristen that they try to get in to the mind of their abductor and come up with a game plan. Chad says there’s no bad ideas and questions them having nothing. Kristen says all she can come up with is the obvious that maybe it’s some twisted revenge plot hatched by an enemy of Stefano’s. Chad argues that they would make themselves known then. The door then suddenly opens and a gunshot is fired to startle them as Theo is dumped in to the room. Chad checks on Theo until he begins to wake up. Theo is surprised to see the three of them and questions what is going on.

Abe finishes another call with Jada. Paulina asks why she was looking for Theo or if she found him. Paulina questions what’s going on as he’s scaring her. Abe responds that it seems like Theo has disappeared. Paulina argues that he was just talking to him. Abe tells her that Theo walked out of the Pub to take his call and said he’d be right back, then after awhile, Jada found his phone discarded on the ground. Paulina asks if he couldn’t have dropped it accidentally. Abe then reveals that Chad is missing too. Abe tells Paulina to stay there while he goes to the police department. Abe says he will call her and hurries out.

Theo tells Chad, Tony, and Kristen that he was talking to Abe on the phone outside the Pub, then he felt something sharp like a needle and the next thing he knew, he woke up here. Chad asks if Abe would think anything was up and be looking for him. Theo says he was trying to hear him and probably thinks he hung up on him. Theo says that Gabi and Jada should know something is up since he told Gabi that he would be right back when he took the call and he was supposed to meet Jada there. Kristen and Chad ask why they were meeting Jada there. Theo reveals that they had a second date. Chad says whoever took them obviously waited for the perfect moment to snag them, so whoever did this had been watching them and waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Chad asks if any of them remember anyone following them or seeming suspicious. Tony and Theo don’t remember anyone. Kristen says prison is always suspicious but she feels she would notice someone lurking around and the guards wouldn’t allow it. Tony feels they aren’t anywhere near discovering the meaning of all of this. Kristen says maybe they are since Theo being grabbed blows one of their theories to Hell.

Cat returns to the living room of the DiMera Mansion where EJ remains passed out on the couch. Cat starts to search EJ’s jacket but he speaks in his sleep and startles her, so Cat goes ahead and wakes him up. EJ questions what happened. Cat claims he must have dozed off while she went to freshen up and asks if he’s feeling okay. EJ says he’s fine and apologizes as he must be very tired. EJ promises that he’s usually a very engaging host. Cat tells him not to worry as it’s been a really difficult last few days. EJ admits he’s been worried about his brothers, so he’s been sleeping very poorly. Cat can’t imagine if her siblings went missing. EJ says it’s not as if this is some tragic consequence. EJ feels it seems likely that someone is after his family. Cat asks who he thinks that might be.

Gabi asks Philip if he really thinks someone went after Theo. Philip says it sounds like Jada thinks so. Gabi can’t believe it as she was just talking to Theo and thought his phone call was going on a long time, but she never imagined this. Gabi asks if Philip thinks Theo was kidnapped right outside. Philip says they don’t know for sure, but if he was, whoever did it was probably a professional. Philip points out Chad and Tony both missing. Gabi calls it so scary. Philip decides he’s not really in the mood for trivia anymore. Gabi says she’s not either and suggests they leave.

Kristen and Chad worry about the kidnapper targeting DiMeras meaning their kids, but Theo think he sees the pattern is not just any DiMeras, so their kids should be safe.

Abe goes to the police station where Jada says she doesn’t have any new information yet but she just talked to Rafe to involve the FBI. Abe asks if there are any leads or potential suspects. Jada promises to keep him in the loop with their progress, but technically she cannot share too many details on an ongoing investigation. Abe argues that he’s worn the badge nearly as long as she’s been alive. Abe pleads with Jada to let him help her look for his son.

Paulina calls Rafe and talks about her and Abe being so scared, so she’s officially requesting the FBI be on the case but Rafe informs her that they are already on it. Paulina thanks him and hangs up. Paulina remembers Abe saying it was a mistake for Theo to get involved with the DiMeras and declares that they should’ve listened. Paulina prays that Theo is alright.

Jada tells Abe that they have a relative time and location on when Theo was kidnapped which is very helpful. Jada adds that she has people surfacing the area and checking traffic cameras. Jada says they are tracking Chad’s phone to hopefully find out where he was. Jada tells Abe that Gabi was the last person to see Theo and said they had a pleasant business meeting. Abe suspects that somebody must have surprised Theo. Jada feels they are looking at either a very discreet stalker or someone that Theo and Chad both trusted. Abe asks if she thinks it’s EJ. Jada says it’s definitely his M.O. and it could be a power play for DiMera. Abe flashes back to asking EJ for help getting Theo out of DiMera Enterprises. Abe questions why kidnap Chad if it was about DiMera Enterprises since he hasn’t been interested in the family company for years. Jada says even if the motive is unclear, EJ being the only child of Stefano left in Salem is pretty suspicious so she will have questions. Abe points out that EJ could be next so Jada wants to contact him ASAP. Abe says he will leave it up to her. Jada agrees to call him the moment she hears anything. Abe thanks her. Jada gives him her word that they will find Theo.

Kristen questions how Theo knows their kids are safe. Theo points out that none of them are the CEO of DiMera Enterprises. Chad says he’s not either but Theo points out that he is an heir of Stefano. Theo declares that whoever did this is after the DiMera money since that’s what they all have in common. Kristen says she wasn’t doing anything with Stefano’s fortune in prison. Theo points out that she didn’t have a life sentence. Chad guesses it makes sense if they were playing the long game. Tony apologizes to Theo if he became a target because of his new position at DiMera. Theo says he came willingly and knew what he was getting in to, but he can’t help but feel like he’s letting everybody know. Tony says it’s not his fault that he was kidnapped. Theo worries that being kidnapped leaves him extremely vulnerable, so someone is going to have to step up in his absence, which they conclude would be EJ.

EJ tells Cat that if she’s asking him for a list of DiMera enemies, he wouldn’t know where to begin. Cat questions why they would take Chad and Tony, feeling they’d have slightly fewer enemies. EJ feels the DiMera name alone puts one in peril. Cat asks if he thinks they are being targeted just because of being part of the DiMera family and if he’s worried that he’s next. EJ calls it possible but it’s also possible it’s a coincidence. EJ then gets a text from Abe that they need to talk because Theo is missing. EJ then tells Cat that she should get out of here now because it’s not safe.

Philip brings Gabi back to his room at the Salem Inn. Gabi talks about how she can’t think of anything other than her worry for Theo. Philip understands since she was the last person to see him before he vanished. Gabi hopes he’s okay since he’s a really good guy and she would hate to think he was hurt or kidnapped. Philip comments that he didn’t know they were so close. Gabi assures he has nothing to worry about and repeats that Theo is just a great guy. Gabi says Theo was becoming a friend and the whole thing is scary and bizarre, especially with Chad missing. Gabi hopes they are both found. Philip points out Tony too. Gabi thinks back to Tony refusing to let her be CEO of DiMera. Gabi then admits she’s not a big fan of Tony. Philip says that makes two of them.

Jada calls Rafe and says that EJ did report Chad as missing but she’s not buying his concerned brother act, so she wants to bring EJ in for questioning immediately. Rafe tells her that he’s going to, so Jada says she gets that FBI trumps the police on this and tells Rafe that she needs to be kept in the loop on this.

Abe returns home and tells Paulina there is no news. Paulina says she’s so sorry and hugs him.

Theo questions thinking EJ will step in at DiMera Enterprises. Kristen mocks the idea of EJ champing at the bit for them to be rescued. Chad questions them thinking EJ is responsible. Theo guesses it’s possible but Chad insists that he knows in his gut it’s not. Chad says that EJ had really been helping him through the custody stuff, arguing that he wouldn’t kidnap his client the day before the trial. Theo says EJ was genuinely concerned about Tony and sent people looking for him. Kristen tells them to take their blinders off and declares that EJ’s only priority is always himself, so he would not hesitate to betray any one of them if it fits his agenda. Theo argues that even if it was EJ, he would not kill them.

Cat questions EJ saying she should leave and what’s going on. EJ tells her that he just received word that his nephew Theo is missing which means she could be right that he’s next. Cat refuses to leave and says if she leaves, he could be in even more danger. EJ says he can get his people and would not ask Cat to be in harm’s way. Cat argues that he’s not asking, she wants to stay because she’s worried about him which surprises EJ. EJ responds that not many people worry about him. EJ adds that he’s the DiMera that most people hope disappear. Cat says not her as they lean in close with one another.

Jack sits in the living room at the Horton house as Jennifer joins him ahead of the custody trial. Jack tells Jennifer that he’s sorry it came to this. Jennifer says she feels the same way but Chad has left them no choice once Thomas ended up in the hospital because he saw Chad with Cat. Jennifer prays that the judge sees it their way. Thomas comes in and asks Jack to help him with his tie. Jack points out that it looks like Thomas has outgrown the clothes he is wearing.

Theo and Gabi are at the Brady Pub as Gabi finishes signing papers to have Gabi Chic officially divested from DiMera Enterprises. Gabi declares it officially belongs to her again as Theo congratulates her.

At the DiMera Mansion, Cat tells EJ that she will meet him back in a few hours for dinner, drinks, and catching up on their time in Italy together. EJ still can’t believe they were in the same rehab facility. Cat calls it a crazy coincidence while EJ suggests maybe it wasn’t.

In the DiMera Crypt, Tony and Kristen successfully wake up Chad, who questions what is going on.

Jack and Jennifer talk about Thomas not having any other dressed up clothes to wear, so Jennifer decides she will go buy him some and exits. Jack sits with Thomas and asks if he has any questions about what’s going to happen today. Thomas says not really but admits he’s a little nervous. Jack tells him to just be honest with the judge and everything will be okay. Thomas worries that’s what Rachel said when she had to take the stand and said it was scary. Jack explains that was a criminal trial and very different from a custody trial. Thomas questions why he has to be there. Jack says he has to be the guest of honor. Thomas points out that Charlotte doesn’t have to be there. Jack says she’s too young to answer questions from the judge. Jack understands Thomas wants to skip it, but says if he wants to be with him and Jennifer, the judge has to hear it from him.

Gabi thanks Theo for being understanding and supportive, unlike most of her previous bosses. Theo wishes he could’ve been her boss longer and admits he thinks Tony made a big mistake by allowing her to walk away with her company, but he has to honor the deal they made. Gabi admits she’s impressed by the whole new vibe that Theo is bringing to DiMera. Theo asks if she’d consider coming back but Gabi says not a chance. Theo says he had to give it one last try. Gabi declares that she’ll never give up control of her company again but she’s not ruling out the possibility of them working together on a collaboration one day. Theo assures that he would definitely be interested in that.

Cat asks EJ how them ending up at the same facility in Italy would be anything but a coincidence. EJ points out that Clyde Weston could have arranged for them to cross paths. Cat asks what Clyde would get out of that. EJ says he has no idea but suggests they could talk about it over dinner, but he has to meet with Chad at the courthouse before the custody hearing. Cat hopes Chad can keep his children and sends her best. EJ agrees to do everything he can as they exit the mansion.

Kristen and Tony explain to Chad that Kristen never escaped prison and Tony wasn’t lost in Greece, they were all kidnapped and now trapped in the DiMera crypt. Chad questions being trapped. Tony responds that they haven’t been able to find a way out. Chad asks what they know. Tony says nothing, but he thinks somebody is clearly targeting DiMera siblings. Chad questions who would do that and why. Tony calls that the burning question.

Thomas tells Jack that he does want to live with him and Jennifer, but he doesn’t want to go to court. Jack encourages that it’s only a family court while Thomas worries about the judge. Jack promises he has nothing to be afraid of. Thomas questions why Chad won’t just let he and Charlotte live with them. Jack explains that Chad doesn’t want them to move away from him and he wouldn’t either if he was in Chad’s shoes. Thomas feels that sounds like Jack is on Chad’s side. Jack assures he is on Thomas’s side, but he understands Chad not wanting to be away from him. Jack adds that he also understands that parents might not always be able to give them what they need when they need it. Jack assures that Chad loves Thomas. Thomas question why Chad lied to him then. Jack says he won’t answer that for him, but insists that Chad would never do anything to deliberately cause him pain. Jack admits Chad’s actions are disappointing and confusing and he knows that’s been really hard on him. Jack declares that nothing hurts more than when the people they love the most let them down.

EJ goes to the Pub and greets Theo and Gabi. Theo thanks EJ again for coming to help him with the licensing agreement on Thanksgiving. EJ says it was his pleasure. EJ mentions picking up a milkshake for Thomas to put him at ease because he’s testifying at the trial today. Gabi mocks EJ and thinks he’s trying to bribe Thomas not to say anything bad about Chad in front of the judge. Gabi thinks EJ would do anything to win the case. EJ says he’s just being a caring uncle which Gabi mocks. Theo tells EJ that he hopes the custody case goes his way. Theo adds that he tried to call Chad but it went straight to voicemail. EJ says he will let him know that he’s on his side as he walks away. Gabi calls EJ a smug bastard. Theo then asks what’s the deal with Gabi and EJ.

Cat walks through the town square and calls Rafe, asking if he was able to track Chad’s phone. Cat says to let her know when he hears something and tells him about EJ getting a text from Chad and is at least pretending that he thinks Chad is going to show up at court. Cat declares that if Chad doesn’t show up, she will get the truth out of EJ one way or another. Cat then hangs up and comes face to face with Jennifer.

Kristen questions Chad about what Jennifer was thinking by trying to take his kids away. Chad explains that he was trying to give them space by leaving the house, so he checked in to the Salem Inn and went to the park to clear his head when he felt a jab and woke up here. Tony says he was drugged just like they were. Chad questions how long he was out and what day it is. Tony reveals that it’s the day after Thanksgiving which shocks Chad, as he worries about his court hearing being today.

Jennifer tries to turn and walk away from Cat but Cat stops her. Jennifer questions what she wants. Cat tells Jennifer that she works for EJ, so she knows about the custody hearing and she just wants to say that Chad is a good man and father. Cat assures that their involvement was over well before Thomas saw Chad consoling her. Cat vows to stay out of Chad’s life forever and that she does not need to take his children away from him. Jennifer questions Cat presuming what she needs or doesn’t. Cat just wanted to assure that she’s out of Chad’s life. Jennifer questions why she would believe her when she doesn’t trust Chad, so she trusts her even less. Jennifer declares that she’s being forced to do what she has to do to protect her grandchildren and tells Cat to stay out of it as she walks ahead. Jennifer stops and tells Cat that Chad’s feelings for her were not real and were just residual confusion from when she pretended to be Abigail. Jennifer remarks that she didn’t buy that Clyde made Cat do it and calls her a vile predator, so she will do everything she can to make sure Cat never hurts her family again. Jennifer then storms off.

Gabi tells Theo that he must know EJ has pissed off a lot of people in this town over the years. Theo says he’s heard that but he’s curious what makes Gabi hate him. Gabi responds that she hated him for awhile, but now she just feels sorry for him. Gabi calls him a screwed up and miserable person. Theo questions how well she knows him. Gabi says at one point they were friends, then enemies, and at one point more than friends. Gabi thinks EJ is kind of pathetic. Theo says it sounds complicated. Gabi says there are a lot of history between them, same with her and Chad, but she does hope things go their way at the hearing because Chad should not lose his kids as he loves them more than anything. Theo agrees. Gabi points out that it’s 5 PM and suggests ordering celebratory drinks, unless Theo has to get back to work. Theo reveals that he planned to stick around for trivia night as he thought it would be a good second date night. Gabi asks if it’s with anyone she knows. Theo informs her that it’s Jada. Gabi reveals that she used to live with Jada when she was engaged to Rafe, which surprises Theo. Theo hopes that’s not a sore subject. Gabi assures that it’s not and states that Rafe and Jada were a great couple, until EJ ruined everything.

EJ goes to court and points out that Chad’s not there. Justin arrives behind him and says his clients will be a little late. Justin acknowledges that Chad as the father has a stronger case but assures EJ that Jack and Jennifer do have a case, but either way it goes, he’s worried about how it will affect the whole family. Justin asks EJ if mediation is an option to resolve this out of court in a way that’s less painful for everyone. Justin says if Chad is open to that, he will broach the subject to Jack and Jennifer. EJ responds that he will run it by Chad when he arrives.

Chad looks for his phone but Tony and Kristen inform him that whoever abducted them took their phones and watches. Chad argues that they have to do something as he panics that this hearing decides if he gets to keep his kids and questions what’s going to happen if he doesn’t show up. Kristen tries to say they will postpone it but Chad worries that Jennifer will push ahead to determine he’s an unfit father and the judge will see Thomas begging to live with his grandparents, while he doesn’t even show up to fight for him. Chad guesses that’s it and Jennifer wins.

Jack and Jennifer arrive to court with Thomas. EJ greets them and explains to Thomas that he will making a case for he and Charlotte to stay with Chad, but if the judge decides that’s not what is best for him, he will totally accept that because everyone’s goal is for Thomas to be happy. Jennifer asks where Chad is. EJ responds that he wishes he knew. Justin asks how Jack is doing with all of this. Jack admits it’s pretty tough for all of them. Jack thanks Justin for taking the case. Justin says he agreed because he’s family, but he has to wonder what Adrienne would think of all this since she always wanted to bring the family together and would hate to see them torn apart this way.

Cat sits in the town square and calls Andrew Donovan to ask him for a favor and asks him to keep it between them. Cat asks him to put in a prescription for her with a rush order on it.

Gabi explains to Theo how EJ had an impostor take over Rafe’s life and set Jada up to look like a dirty cop. Gabi says that EJ tortured Jada by making her think that Rafe dumped her at the altar and cheated on her with a stripper. Gabi adds that their relationship never recovered. Theo doesn’t understand how EJ isn’t in jail then. Gabi explains that Rafe had no memory of being kidnapped and EJ made Arnold disappear while strong arming Kristen’s mother into keeping quiet, so there was no way to prove that he was behind it. Theo calls that so horrible. Gabi knows EJ is Theo’s uncle and he cares about him, but warns him to watch his back. Gabi reminds Theo that EJ never does anything out of the goodness of his heart, so if he offered to help him, it’s because there’s something in it for him.

The judge arrives in court and asks EJ where Chad is. EJ responds that he’s not sure as he’s called several times but has been unable to reach him. EJ assures it’s very unlike Chad and he’s quite concerned. The judge asks if he didn’t just want EJ to handle it without him. EJ says ever since Chad found out that he was being sued for custody, he’s thought of nothing else and they’ve spent hours going over how they would prove that Chad is a loving father. EJ insists that Chad knows how important this hearing is and would never miss it unless something was seriously wrong. The judge asks when Jack and Jennifer last heard from Chad. Thomas informs her that they invited Chad to Thanksgiving but he didn’t come. Jack mentions receiving a text yesterday, explaining that he hadn’t seen the invitation and apologized for not showing up, but he did not say anything about not being here today. The judge questions EJ having no idea where Chad is or why he’s absent .EJ suggests he could’ve had an emergency. EJ requests a continuance so he can look in to it. Justin asks if there’s any objection.

Chad argues that EJ is representing him but Jennifer will say it was his choice not to show up. Chad worries about losing the case and not being there. Kristen argues that EJ knows Chad would never blow off his kids and that nothing would stop him from getting to the hearing if he could. Kristen then points out that Chad not showing up in court could be the best thing to happen for them.

Theo assures Gabi that his eyes are wide open where EJ is concerned, especially after what she just told him. Gabi is glad she could raise his consciousness about EJ a bit. Gabi brings up hearing that Tony is missing and wonders if EJ had anything to do with it. Theo argues that EJ’s people are trying to find him. Gabi suggests EJ’s people could’ve pushed Tony out of the way so he could get closer to Theo. Gabi brings up EJ helping Theo and argues that EJ could be trying to push him out of the door to take over himself. Theo tries to say that EJ would never do that but then admits maybe he would, but assures he will watch his back. Gabi brings up her and Philip being at trivia night last week and warns Theo about a guy at the bar who cheats by looking up answers on his phone. Theo thanks her and asks how they did at trivia. Gabi says they lost by one point to Steve and Kayla, noting that it got intense but they had a lot of fun. Theo asks if she’s up for another round. Gabi says she will call Philip. Theo asks how they are doing. Gabi says it’s early but going well. Theo brings up Philip still not knowing that Gabi gave Tony the ammo to take DiMera back from Titan. Gabi responds that he never will as long as Theo and Tony keep quiet. Theo says his lips are sealed as he wouldn’t stand in the way of love. Gabi thanks Theo. Theo then gets a call from Abe and steps outside to answer it.

Jack tells Jennifer that it’s her call whether or not they postpone. Jennifer decides she’s fine with it. Justin then informs the judge that his clients have no objection to a continuance so the judge grants it. She announces they will reconvene one week from today. She hopes EJ finds Chad and that he has good reason for wasting the court’s time as she then exits. Thomas turns to Jack and Jennifer to ask if EJ is right that something has happened to Chad. Jack insists that Chad is fine and his car probably broke down and he has no cell signal. Jennifer assures that Chad is fine and they will hear from him very soon while Thomas looks sad.

EJ goes home to the the DiMera Mansion and has a drink in the living room. Cat joins him and says she’ll have what he’s having. Cat asks EJ how the hearing went. EJ informs her that Chad never showed. EJ says he couldn’t reach him but luckily Jennifer didn’t object to a continuance. Cat worries that nothing would stop Chad from getting to the hearing. EJ agrees, so Cat asks if he now believes Chad is really missing like Tony. EJ admits he’s afraid that he is and says he has notified the police.

Chad questions how missing his court hearing is a good thing. Kristen explains that EJ will know something is wrong and could have his people or the FBI already on it. Chad questions who will look for them in a crypt. Tony thinks their best shot is a fellow DiMera. Kristen agrees that with EJ leading the charge, there is a chance someone could find them.

Cat asks EJ about the text he got from Chad. EJ says maybe he sent it right before something happened to him. Cat suggests maybe Chad didn’t send the text at all. EJ says he’s trying to track his phone but has had no luck. Cat asks if there’s any other reason Chad could be missing or if their family has received any threats. EJ insists that he would’ve notified the authorities if they had. Cat questions if he would since EJ prefers to handle these matters privately. EJ understands she cares about Chad and assures he’s doing everything in his power to find him. Cat asks if EJ is sure, pointing out that he seems tired. EJ says he got up at dawn to prepare for the hearing and then Chad going missing, it’s been a long day. As EJ goes to get Cat another drink, Cat pulls something out of her purse and injects it in to EJ’s drink.

Gabi calls Philip and says she’s so glad he’s up for another trivia night. Gabi says she will let Theo know whenever he comes back.

Jack and Jennifer return home with Thomas. Thomas asks if they are sure Chad is going to be okay. Jennifer insists he has nothing to worry about. They send Thomas upstairs to change clothes. Jack tells Jennifer that EJ was right that there is no way Chad would have missed that hearing unless something was really wrong. Jennifer says that’s why she wants this taken care of, arguing that Tony is missing and being around a DiMera is dangerous. Jack decides they will call JJ to report Chad as missing while Jennifer declares they will get Thomas and Charlotte far away from all of this before something happens to them too.

Tony asks Chad how Anna is doing. Chad says she’s back home and freaking out about his disappearance, but she’s okay. Kristen asks how Rachel is. Chad hesitates but then says she’s fine. Kristen asks if something happened to her, feeling there is something he’s not telling her. Chad then reveals there was an incident on Halloween where Thomas and Rachel found a pumpkin launcher and almost took out Alex Kiriakis but they were aiming for Cat Green. Chad states that Rachel was teaching Thomas how to take out his father’s girlfriend. Kristen questions how he knows it was Rachel’s idea. Chad informs her that she admitted it. Kristen argues that Rachel was probably acting out because of everything she’s gone through this year. Kristen worries that Rachel thinks she ran off and abandoned her, so her world is turned upside down. Kristen complains that her daughter needs her more than ever, so she’s going to figure out a way to get back to her.

EJ tells Cat that hopefully Chad will show up, surprised by all the worry he caused. Cat asks if he actually believes that will happen. EJ says his team is on it as well as law enforcement, so he believes that both of his brothers will turn up safe and sound. Cat toasts to that as EJ takes a drink from the cup that Cat drugged. EJ says he’s starving and is going to go check on the food. Cat says she will go check but EJ then passes out on the couch.

Holly remains in the town square as Tate walks by. Holly asks how his visit with Rachel went as she hugs him and says she’s there for him. Tate talks about feeling like there’s nothing he can do to help Rachel. Holly encourages that he is helping by just being there and visiting as she knows that meant a lot to her. Holly suggests maybe next time, she could go with him but Tate says it’s family only right now and not a good idea which Holly questions. Tate then reveals that he found Sophia with Rachel when he was there.

Rachel asks Sophia if she’s okay. Sophia claims that she’s fine. Rachel encourages that Johnny is her cousin and he’s great while she really likes Chanel too, so they will take really good care of her baby. Sophia responds that all that matters is that he’s in a good home with people that love him, but admits it makes her a little sad too. Rachel asks if that’s why she’s not talking to anyone. Sophia says that’s not why, but it means so much to her that she didn’t tell Tate since she doesn’t want him to know that she’s not talking on purpose because he feels he might go tell everyone. Sophia feels she can trust Rachel, but Rachel questions what if she can’t trust Sophia.

Johnny and Chanel talk in the town square. Johnny is considering canceling his trip to Chicago to cover Stephanie’s book tour because they’ve only had Trey for three weeks and he feels it’s unfair for him to go and leave Chanel to hold things down. Chanel insists that Johnny has to go since it is his job. Johnny points out Chanel having a job too and encourages her to delegate to her staff at the Bakery. Chanel states that she has realized between their families and her job, she’s been spreading herself too thin, so she declares that she has come to an important decision.

Stephanie has a box of Christmas decorations at home as Alex comes in and questions what she’s doing when she has a book tour to get to in a few hours. Stephanie explains that Christmas is her favorite holiday and she won’t have much time to decorate before then. Alex suggests he sort through the ornaments and then they can decorate the tree together when she gets back. Stephanie says she will hold him to that as she will be thinking of him the whole time she’s gone. Stephanie holds a mistletoe over them as they kiss.

EJ is in the living room of the DiMera Mansion, on the phone with Rita and tells her to keep him posted. EJ hangs up as Cat arrives and says she’s still really worried about Chad as something has to have happened to him.

Alex suggests they take the mistletoe into the other room but Stephanie says the Titan car has already picked Kate up, so she will be there any minute. Alex jokes that he only has himself to blame as he encouraged her to do this and now she’s a big time author. Alex wishes he could go with her on the tour. Stephanie points out that the first stop is only one night, so she will be back and they can pick up exactly where they left off. Alex says that’s what he likes to hear and they kiss until there’s a knock at the door. Stephanie assumes it will be Kate but is surprised to see Steve and asks what he’s doing there.

Holly questions Sophia being with Rachel. Tate says she was just in her room when he got there. Holly guesses she didn’t put it together that they would both be at Bayview and asks what Sophia was doing in her room. Tate says he has no idea and neither did Rachel, but he just wanted to be upfront with her that every time he visits Rachel, he could end up seeing Sophia there too. Johnny asks Chanel about her important decision. Chanel says they can talk more when he gets back but she’s been thinking a lot about how the two of them are working four jobs and being parents is like a fifth job. Johnny offers to stop teaching but Chanel says no and talks about hiring a new baker or assistant manager at the Bakery, but it would cut in to their bottom line. Johnny understands she wants to spend more time with their son. Johnny adds that there is always another option in going to EJ about his trust fund but Chanel says absolutely not.

EJ tells Cat that she made it clear that she’s concerned about Chad. Cat insists something is wrong and asks about EJ having someone look in to it. EJ then says there’s no need as he reveals that Chad reached out to him.

Sophia assures that Rachel can trust her. Rachel argues that Sophia lied to Tate about her baby and questions how she knows that she’s not still lying. Sophia clarifies that she really thought Tate was her baby’s father and still wishes he was. Sophia calls it a mistake and asks if Rachel will hold that against her like everyone else has. Sophia swears she wasn’t trying to hurt anyone. Rachel says she gets it now and apologizes for accusing her of lying. Rachel says that her teacher always accuses her of things she didn’t do and she hates it. Rachel argues that she’s not a bad girl. Sophia says neither of them are bad, they are just misunderstood which makes Rachel smile. Sophia feels that makes them kindred spirits, where they have more in common than they realize. Sophia thinks they should figure out a way to help each other out.

Holly tells Tate that she’s not thrilled that Sophia keeps popping in to their lives like this, but she would never tell him that he can’t visit his sister. Holly gets an alert on her phone that they got a 98 on their film project which means she got an A+ in the film class. Holly asks what Tate got. Tate checks his phone and sees that he got a C-.

Steve tells Stephanie that he’s sorry to interrupt but he wanted to see her off before her big tour. Stephanie calls that sweet but asks why everyone is acting like she’s being shipped off to the arctic for a year when it’s one night in Chicago. Steve says it’s her first major public event so he wanted to wish her luck. Stephanie thanks him and says she really appreciates that. Steve tells her how proud he and Kayla are. Alex says he is too. Stephanie gets a text from Kate that the car is there. Steve exits to walk her out while Stephanie tells Alex that she will see him soon. Alex tells her to call as soon as she gets there as they kiss goodbye and say I love you to each other. Stephanie then exits.

Cat questions EJ hearing back from Chad. EJ says that Chad texted him not long after Cat left his office and that he said they shouldn’t be concerned as he was going off the grid to clear his head. EJ adds that Chad’s custody hearing with Jennifer is tomorrow so he can’t imagine he would miss that. Cat questions Chad not even acknowledging the hearing. EJ states that it was just one brief exchange. Cat questions Chad not responding to him since. EJ asks if there’s a reason that she is giving him the third degree when he’s been nothing but forthcoming with her. Cat says she knows that, so EJ questions why he feels that she doesn’t believe him.

Tate claims to Holly that his grades haven’t come in yet. Holly talks about her excitement and says she’ll have to text Marie. Holly says she has to get back to work with going through Stephanie’s fan mail and they agree to meet up later. Tate stares back at his grade with a worried look.

Steve returns to Alex and admits he didn’t just come to wish Stephanie well but he came to see Alex. Alex asks if that means he got information on the weird fan letter she got. Steve says he turned it over to some people he trusts including a handwriting analyst. Alex asks if they found anything useful. Steve confirms that the person who wrote the letter is left handed, probably male, and close to Stephanie’s age. Steve adds that what concerns him is that the handwriting shows the letter was written by someone with obsessive thoughts and emotional instability which they say is no surprise. Alex says that doesn’t make him feel any better about any of this.

Chanel is not comfortable with Johnny asking EJ for any favors. Johnny argues that it’s not a favor as it’s his money. Chanel says he would have to ask EJ’s permission to access his trust fund early and worries that any favor would lead to EJ trying to worm his way back in to their lives. Chanel asks if that’s a risk that Johnny is willing to take. Johnny says of course not as he hugs her. Johnny suggests they talk more about it when he gets back from Chicago. Johnny promises they will find a way to make this work.

Cat assures EJ that she believes him, but he knows how much she cares about Chad and the thought that something happened to him. EJ apologizes for being insensitive. Cat says she’s sorry and of course EJ cares about his brother. Cat says she and Chad weren’t together that long and she thought she would be able to get over it easier, but it’s like she gave Chad her heart and he pinched it to death and then flung it back to her which EJ recognizes as a line from Wuthering Heights. EJ then excitedly declares that he can’t believe it but he recognizes her voice and realizes that she was the woman with him in Italy.

Rachel doesn’t get how she and Sophia can help each other. Sophia points out that they are both here to get better and go home, but if they aren’t careful, they could get stuck there for a very long time. Sophia suggests they stick together and have each others’ back to make sure that doesn’t happen. Rachel questions why they wouldn’t want them to get better. Sophia says they longer they keep them there, the more they can charge their family. Sophia tells Rachel that they will make her go to group therapy and then one on one sessions. Sophia calls the group therapy a total waste of time but warns that the doctor will try to trip her up in the one on one sessions, so she needs to be very careful as one wrong word, they will use it to extend her stay. Sophia adds that she stays mute so she’s not giving them any ammunition. Rachel talks about being in therapy for a long time and dodging Marlena’s questions since she was in first grade. Sophia jokes that she knew she liked her. Sophia tells Rachel that there is no internet and she won’t be able to use her phone. Rachel gets upset and questions how she’s supposed to talk to Brady or Tate. Sophia says she can’t except for the landline but she will be watched the entire time. Rachel complains that she hates it here. Sophia says she didn’t want to bum her out, but wanted her to know the truth now instead of finding out the hard way. Sophia encourages that they can make the place tolerable, like getting extra dessert. Rachel wishes there was something she could do for her. Sophia says she’s sure she will think of something.

Johnny and Chanel go through the town square with Trey and run in to Tate. Tate comments on Trey seeming really happy. Chanel says they are too. Tate says back when he thought he was Trey’s father, all he wanted was for them to be his parents because he knew he’d be in really good hands and he was right, so he’s glad it worked out for everyone, except Sophia. Chanel asks if he’s heard how Sophia is doing. Tate admits he saw her at Bayview but she doesn’t seem to be doing much better. Johnny says he’s sorry to hear that and to hear about Rachel too. Tate says he hates it but keeps telling himself that she has to go through this to get better. Chanel and Johnny talk about feeling bad for Rachel having to go through the trial and then Kristen escaping from prison. Tate says she’s definitely been through a lot. Johnny sends his best and says he’ll make a point to visit Rachel when he gets back from Chicago which Tate is sure she would appreciate. Trey wakes up crying, so Chanel takes him for a walk. Tate then asks Johnny if there’s anything he can do to bring up his C- grade in his class.

Alex tells Steve that he doesn’t like any of this as Stephanie is a celebrity now. Alex says most of her fans are great but having one bad apple is par for the course. Steve guesses he’s talking about when they were on Body and Soul. Alex recalls the fan mail then making it clear that they really believe he is that character and the fantasies. Alex worries that it will be double for Stephanie. Alex wishes Jeremy didn’t out Stephanie to Leo and regrets pushing her. Holly then shows up at the door and says she was hoping to catch Stephanie before she left for her tour. Alex says she just missed her and asks if there’s something he can help with. Holly says maybe as she was going through her fan mail and flagged some more letters which she thinks is from the same guy as before.

EJ calls it unreal as Cat claims not to understand what he’s talking about. EJ says he doesn’t know how to explain. Cat says she’s lost. EJ explains that ever since he started reading Wuthering Heights, he’s been getting hit with flashes of memories from when he was Italy, recovering for a very long time. EJ says it was a woman reading that book to him and he couldn’t recognize her face or her voice until now, declaring that it was her. Cat calls it not possible. EJ argues that it was seven years ago. Cat says she hardly remembers any of her life after the accident and what Clyde did to her. Cat admits she was sent to a specialist in Italy but questions it being possible that they were in the same facility. EJ feels it explains so much, like why he’s been drawn to her ever since finding out she wasn’t Abigail.

Johnny tells Tate that the C- he got was generous at best. Tate thought he was doing well in his class. Johnny says he was on the assignments he turned in, but he missed a lot of them. Tate guesses they slipped through the cracks with everything going on. Johnny understands and says they did finish the class early, so he could work on some of those missed assignments but he would suggest not doing that since Tate mentioned struggling in his other classes too. Tate admits that he’s failing most of them. Johnny says once he marks his missing assignments as late, his grade might jump to a C+ or maybe a B- which won’t help his overall average. Johnny advises Tate to work on getting his other classes up to passing grades. Johnny says he’s rooting for him and to let him know if he can help. Tate thanks him and walks away.

Holly says she’s not a handwriting expert but they all look the same. Steve agrees while Alex points out that they are all sent from Salem and it’s like a letter a day. Holly adds that they all say the same things. Steve reads that the letters say “I love you” and “I want to be with you”. Holly apologizes and says she wasn’t trying to upset Alex. Steve assures that she did the right thing by bringing the letters to them. Holly asks if he’s not worried that Stephanie is in danger. Steve says not yet since there are no threats or escalation. Holly assures he’ll be the first to know if she finds any more of these letters.

Cat questions how EJ is drawn to her. EJ says he hadn’t put his finger on it but when the entire town turned it’s back on her, he couldn’t bring himself to and felt the need to account for her. EJ says now he knows it’s because she once looked out for him and read Wuthering Heights to him for hours on end. EJ says when she quoted it just now, the memory hit him like a wave. EJ states that they must have had a very real connection.

Sophia plays cards with Rachel. Rachel thanks her for making Bayview seem less scary. Rachel knows Sophia hates it too, but she’s glad she made a friend who will help her get through it. Sophia says she feels the exact same way.

Holly returns to Tate in the town square. Tate says he was just talking family stuff with Johnny. Holly asks if he wants to go Christmas shopping. Tate says he will miss her so much when she goes to Paris for Christmas. Holly says it will only be a week and that he’ll be seeing her nonstop when they go back to school next semester. Tate says he can’t wait and hugs her, hiding his look of worry. Johnny asks if Chanel is sure she’s okay taking care of Trey by herself tonight. Chanel assures that she will check in at the Bakery and then head straight home. Chanel adds if she needs anything, she’ll call Paulina and tells him to leave so he can get back home to them. Johnny says he loves her as they kiss.

Cat tells EJ that this is a lot to process and asks if it could really be possible that they already knew each other. EJ thinks it would explain why they’ve gotten along so well and feels their history had been trying to find it’s way to the surface. Cat says if this is true, she has a lot of questions. EJ says he does too and suggests they figure it out together. EJ invites her to dinner tonight at the Bistro but Cat suggests EJ have the cook make them dinner here. They then agree to meet back here for drinks at 5.

Alex asks Steve if they shouldn’t involve the police. Steve says there’s no escalation or anything to go off of yet. Alex asks if he doesn’t think Stephanie is in danger then. Steve responds that if he did, he’d be on his way to Chicago. Alex says that’s fair enough as they shake hands. Steve says he’ll be in touch as he then exits.

Stephanie arrives at her hotel room in Chicago and sends a text to Alex that she just checked in and is going to do some work before heading down to the signing. Someone dressed in all black then approaches her hotel room door, but turns and walks away.

Leo goes to visit Marlena in the hospital and accidentally wakes her up. Marlena tells Leo that it’s so good to see him.

Kate goes to see Maggie at the Kiriakis Mansion. Maggie guesses Kate wants to talk business. Kate gives her a folder of numbers she needs to look over and reveals that Stephanie’s second novel Write Out is slightly underperforming. Kate says they knew it would take a dip when they asked romance fans to pivot to mystery, but they still have the book tour to bring things around. Maggie worries that if things don’t improve soon, she has a decision to make about Titan’s bottom line. Kate questions it being that bad. Maggie feels she can’t lay people off at Christmas time while Kate tells Maggie that her problem is that she isn’t ruthless enough.

Holly runs in to Arianna in the town square. They talk about having so much to tell each other. Arianna says she has to tell her about Thanksgiving while Holly asks if she’s seen Tate. Arianna says she hasn’t gone by the Pub yet and asks why. Holly explains that she texted him yesterday and today but he hasn’t responded, so she’s worried that Tate is really mad at her.

Tate goes to see Brady at home and asks how he is. Brady says he’s heartbroken seeing Rachel in that much pain and knows it has to be hard for him too. Tate says it is, but Brady is the one who had to take Rachel to Bayview so he can’t imagine how upsetting that must be for him. Tate asks how Rachel is doing. Brady says she’s all settled in her room but she hates it. Brady says he tried to comfort her but she just cried and begged him to take her home. Tate hugs Brady and says he’s so sorry. Tate encourages that they will visit as much as they can when it’s allowed. Brady wishes he could all day and all night but they have to go by visitation hours. Tate assures he will be there whenever he can. Brady adds that there’s something he needs to know before he goes to visit Rachel. Brady reveals that the reason he admitted Rachel to Bayview is not what he thinks.

Sophia gets up from her hospital bed in Bayview and enters Rachel’s room. Rachel states that she knows her. Sophia then suddenly smiles big and says hi to her. Rachel brings up that Tate said Sophia couldn’t talk. Sophia reveals that’s just what she wants people to think. Rachel questions why. Sophia responds that it gives her the upper hand.

Leo tells Marlena that he heard she was under the weather so he brought her some coloring books to help pass the time. Marlena responds that she needed them almost as much as she needed to see him and she’s so glad he came.

Kate tells Maggie that she can’t get rid of her home and explains that Philip told her about putting it up for collateral. Kate brings up how much Victor loved the mansion while Maggie questions what choice she has. Kate argues that she can stop playing defense. Kate feels Maggie is digging Titan in to a hole. Kate acknowledges that the split from DiMera cost Titan some great people, but some of the division heads are really unhappy with Tony making Theo CEO. Kate feels now that Tony has gone missing, it could be a great time to lure some of those people back to Titan.

Holly complains to Arianna that Tate seems to have ghosted her and has missed seven text messages. Arianna encourages that he could just be stuck at work and that not everything is about her. Holly says she just can’t shake the feeling that something is wrong.

Brady reveals to Tate that Holly shot EJ and tried to kill Sarah. Brady clarifies that he doesn’t think she intended to even hurt Sarah. Tate doesn’t understand, pointing out that Rachel likes EJ and Sarah. Brady says it isn’t about her feelings for them, so Tate questions what it is. Brady says her doctors keep talking about her lack of impulse control skills and her ability to manage her emotions. Brady tells Tate that they aren’t sharing many details about this, so if anyone asks about Rachel, he is to tell them that Rachel is just coping with her mother’s escape from prison. Tate agrees not to tell anyone, including Holly. Tate asks if he thinks Rachel is going to be in Bayview for a long time. Brady says he can’t answer that as he doesn’t know.

Sophia explains to Rachel that at first, she was so upset, sad, and angry that she couldn’t talk but then she found her voice again but she realized it was best not to let anyone else know. Rachel asks if she’s ever going to talk to other people again. Sophia says she will probably have to but she’s not ready yet. Rachel questions why she talked to her then. Sophia says it wasn’t a plan, but she saw her here all alone and she seemed so scared, so she thought someone should be there with her, who knows what it’s like. Sophia asks Rachel to promise not to tell anyone the truth about her, including Tate. Rachel questions why not. Sophia declares that sometimes, it’s best not to let anyone know what you’re capable of. Rachel assures that she understands that.

Leo asks if Marlena is okay now. Marlena assures that she’s doing very well. Leo is relieved because Marlena is very important to him. Leo then tells Marlena that he has a big favor to ask as he asks her to officiate his wedding to Javi.

Maggie tells Kate that she will not poach DiMera’s division heads. Kate thought she wanted to save Titan. Maggie feels it’s unethical to take advantage of Tony’s kidnapping and unwise, considering Tony knows about Philip’s fraud. Maggie asks what she thinks Kate would do when he’s found. Kate says that’s if Tony is found. Maggie calls that very morbid. Kate thinks they have to consider all options. Maggie tells Kate to stay in her lane in the publishing department. Kate tells Maggie that she tried to help and walks out of the mansion.

Tate exits the Pub and runs in to Holly and Arianna. Holly tells Tate that she texted him a lot today and asks how his Thanksgiving was. Tate responds that it wasn’t that great as he reveals that Marlena had pacemaker surgery and Rachel is in Bayview. Holly is shocked and says she’s so sorry. Tate mentions being on his way to see Rachel now. They point out that he has class in like 30 minutes. Arianna flashes back to Tate revealing to her that he could flunk out of Salem U if he doesn’t ace his finals. Tate says he’s sorry but he has to go. Holly tells him to tell Rachel that she loves her as he rushes off.

Sophia and Rachel talk about Rachel’s snake. Rachel says she wants to go home. Sophia tries to encourage that Bayview isn’t so bad and tells her that she already has a friend in her. Rachel points out that she doesn’t really know her. Sophia feels they have a lot in common, like Tate. Sophia tells Rachel that she will have her back because she’s Tate’s sister. Sophia adds that they both got sent here and asks why Rachel is here. Rachel says she will probably hear from someone else so she might as well tell her. Rachel tells Sophia that she did some things she shouldn’t have as she almost made two people die.

Arianna and Holly sit together in the Pub. Arianna talks about how Rachel must be so scared and points out at least now she knows why Tate was missing. Holly worries that he must be hurting so much and wishes she could do something for him. Holly doesn’t know how she will be able to concentrate on anything else including her internship for Stephanie. Arianna wishes her internship would hurry up and come through with Titan. Holly offers to ask Kate for her but Arianna doesn’t want to push it. Holly decides she should get started on going through Stephanie’s fan mail and exits. Roman and Kate come over to greet Arianna, who says she’s just catching up on school work. Kate tells Arianna that they missed her at Thanksgiving. Arianna says she thought she would have more time after dinner, but reveals that Leo proposed to Javi and it became a whole thing. Kate asks how she feels about her cousin getting married to Leo. Arianna reveals she doesn’t feel great about it and that she’s tried to tolerate Leo because he makes Javi happy for whatever reason, but after what Leo did to Will and Sonny, she doesn’t see how the family can welcome him with open arms because she can’t.

Marlena tells Leo that she would be thrilled to officiate his wedding and asks about the proposal. Leo explains that he had planned on proposing when Javi suggested they get their own place. Leo talks about Javi’s mother giving her ring to Rafe, but Rafe agreed that Javi should have it, so he used it to propose. Leo calls it his best Thanksgiving ever, declaring that he now gets to be part of that incredible family for the rest of his life. Leo then apologizes for going on about Thanksgiving and family when Marlena just had her first without John. Marlena responds that she’s had a lot of upset in her family and she thinks it’s her fault.

Brady goes to see Maggie at the Kiriakis Mansion. Maggie hopes it’s not another lecture about layoffs but Brady clarifies it’s not about work and he just wanted to say sorry because what happened to Sarah was his fault.

Sophia questions Rachel saying she almost killed two people. Rachel says the first one was an accident and the second one was kind of an accident too as she didn’t know what she did would be so bad. Sophia asks what she did but Rachel doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. Rachel asks why Sophia came to her room. Sophia says she got bored and thought Rachel could use someone to talk to. Sophia asks if Rachel knows who adopted her baby. Rachel reveals that she does know that but they are interrupted by Tate arriving. Sophia then goes silent as Tate questions what she’s doing there.

Roman tells Arianna that Marlena is very fond of Leo, so if she feels Leo has changed, he defers to her judgment. Kate jokes that Roman always sees the best in everything. Kate says that just because Leo and Javi are getting married doesn’t mean that Arianna has to be a fan of Leo. Arianna complains that it means Leo will now be at every single one of their family gatherings. Arianna says that she doesn’t hate Leo but she doesn’t want to be related to him.

Leo knows Marlena’s family is going through a lot right now but says she can’t blame herself for getting sick. Marlena says it’s not that and she can’t go in to detail, but she made a terrible error in judgment that she wishes she could take back. Leo finds that hard to believe and encourages that things will start to look up. Marlena responds that she’s afraid the damage is done and there’s nothing she can do to fix it.

Maggie can’t believe Rachel gave Sarah pistachio ice cream on purpose when she knows she’s allergic. Maggie notes that Sarah said it wasn’t an accident but wouldn’t go in to detail. Brady says she was protecting Rachel. Brady wanted to confide in Maggie since she’s his sponsor and he loves and trusts her more than anyone. Maggie says she’s so sorry and asks where Rachel is now. Brady reveals that she’s getting treatment at Bayview. Brady questions how many signs he missed that she ended up there. Maggie feels there’s no way he could’ve known. Brady says there was because someone he thought he could trust knew what Rachel was capable of and didn’t tell him. Maggie questions who, so Brady informs her that it was Marlena.

Rachel claims to Tate that Sophia just came in but didn’t say anything and doesn’t talk, but she was glad to see someone she knows. Tate tells Sophia that he can come see her after visiting Rachel, but he wanted to see and hang out with Rachel alone, so Sophia walks out of the room.

Holly sits in the town square, going through Stephanie’s fan mail. She comes across one letter that says they belong together which she calls creepy. Holly then finds another letter with the same handwriting and guesses it’s the same guy.

Roman goes back to work while Kate tells Arianna that she’s happy that she got her feelings about Leo off her chest, but if she has a problem, she needs to do something. Arianna tells Kate that she needs the internship with Titan but she hasn’t heard back yet. Kate tells Arianna that she’s sorry but it seems very unlikely she will get the internship because they are restructuring at Titan so there’s no new internships. Arianna says she understands but Kate says she has an idea.

Tate tries to encourage Rachel that her room at Bayview isn’t too bad. Rachel questions Tate not bringing him a toy. Tate says he’s too broke and encourages that the doctors will help her here. Rachel complains that she’s better now and wants to go home. The nurse comes in and announces visiting hours are over so Tate has to leave which upsets Rachel. Tate tells Rachel that he loves her and will come visit her every day as he then exits.

Maggie asks Brady how Marlena could know that Rachel would poison Sarah. Brady responds that Marlena knew things about Rachel that she didn’t tell him, feeling he decided she knew what was best for his daughter without telling him. Brady asks Maggie not to take Marlena’s side, complaining that Marlena betrayed his trust and now his daughter is in a mental ward. Maggie understands Brady is in shock but questions if he really thinks Marlena didn’t have Rachel’s best interest at heart. Brady admits she probably meant well but what she did was wrong and it almost cost Sarah her life. Brady declares he doesn’t want to be in that house anymore as he doesn’t think he can live with Marlena.

Leo feels Marlena is being too hard on herself. Marlena says she’s not because she made a terrible mistake. Marlena thought she was in control but she wasn’t and she’s not used to being fallible. Leo calls her an incredible therapist and even better friend. Leo tells Marlena how grateful he is for her.

Tate goes to visit Sophia in her room at Bayview and says it was very nice of her to visit Rachel. Tate apologizes for not coming to see her and tells Sophia that he thinks about her a lot. Tate admits he still doesn’t understand everything that happened and wishes she could tell him. Tate doesn’t know what else to say and tells Sophia to take care of herself. Tate adds that he will come visit her when he sees Rachel. Sophia remains silent as Tate then exits.

Kate thinks maybe Arianna should try to get an internship at DiMera Enterprises. Kate says she has contacts there and could talk to them about her. Kate is sure they would jump at the chance to hire her. Arianna points out DiMera being Titan’s number one enemy. Kate thinks she would do really well there and learn a lot. Kate offers to put in a good word for her.

Leo and Marlena color her coloring books together. Leo says when she gets out of the hospital, they will binge watch Drag Race. Marlena states that she was spiraling when Leo came in and he pulled her back, so she’s very glad he’s there. Leo responds that’s what friends are for.

Maggie questions Brady leaving he and Rachel’s home, calling it a big decision in his state of mind. Brady insists that his state of mind is good and reveals he went to a meeting last night. Maggie acknowledges that he has big challenges ahead and Rachel will need him badly. Brady doesn’t know if he’d be able to stay on track at Marlena’s place. Brady says he’s been thinking for a long time that he should have his own place. Maggie invites him to move in to the Kiriakis Mansion until he finds one, reminding him that he’s always welcome there. Brady admits that would be great, assuring it would only be until he finds his own place. Brady mentions that he does come with Rachel’s snake. Maggie tells him that Kate reminded her today how much she loves the Kiriakis Mansion, calling it her home as well as Brady and Rachel’s because she loves them both. Brady thanks her and hugs her.

Holly remains in the town square as Tate walks by. Holly asks how his visit with Rachel went as she hugs him.

Sophia returns to Rachel’s room at Bayview with a cup of water and thanks her for keeping her secret. Sophia calls it really nice of Tate to come visit Rachel. Rachel calls him a good brother. Sophia reminds Rachel that they were talking about her baby’s adoption. Sophia hopes that Johnny and Chanel do not have her baby, but Rachel reveals that they do and says she’s sorry. Sophia responds that it isn’t her fault as she turns away in anger, crushing the paper cup in her hands.

Leo and Javi sit together in the town square as Leo is leaving a message for Chad, saying he has urgent questions and to get back to him. Leo complains to Javi that Chad never takes this long to get back to him and wonders what’s going on with him.

Cat joins EJ in his office and asks if he has a minute. Cat tells EJ that she heard a rumor and asks if he knows anything about Jennifer trying to take Thomas and Charlotte from Chad. EJ confirms that Jennifer and Jack are unfortunately taking Chad to court and that he is representing Chad. Cat calls it unfair since those are Chad’s kids and says she’s tried to reach him but he hasn’t gotten back to her which she says she understands because this is entirely her fault. EJ calls that debatable but notes that it’s not just her that Chad hasn’t gotten back to as he reveals that Chad hasn’t been responding to anyone. EJ explains that Chad left the Horton house for a couple days to give Thomas some space and seems to have vanished since then.

Paulina meets Belle at home. Belle thanks her for coming and says it’s urgent and not just a work matter but also personal, noting she’s telling her this in the strictest confidence.

Kayla checks on Marlena in the hospital and reveals that her first test results were inaccurate, so she does have Lyme disease but she believes the antibiotics are helping. Kayla knows it’s not the news she wanted to hear. Marlena responds that she’s more concerned about Rachel.

Brady brings Rachel to Bayview and tries to encourage her but Rachel cries that she hates the place and begs him not to make her stay.

Javi encourages that Chad will check in soon as he’s obviously dealing with a lot. Leo notes that the jewelry store should be open now, so they go to take care of his ring. Javi says he can’t wait to wear it and tell the world they are engaged. They kiss and then bump in to Gwen, who picks up the ring.

Belle tells Paulina about Rachel. Paulina says it must be terribly upsetting for the whole family. Belle says she’s trying to do right by them but she’s also the district attorney and they do have some extra time because of Kristen’s escape, so they can’t vacate her conviction. Paulina realizes that Kristen was protecting Rachel and that’s why she confessed. Belle thinks Kristen was counting on Rachel never remembering what happened. Paulina asks what happens now. Belle explains that she’d like to see this taken through the mental health channels and not the juvenile justice system, so she will petition the court to keep the records sealed. Belle says she just didn’t want to make any decisions without looping Paulina in. Paulina says she doesn’t want to see Belle’s family suffer more than they have, but someone who might have a problem with her plan is EJ.

Cat questions EJ saying that Chad vanished. EJ explains that Julie called him yesterday and Chad never showed up to the Horton Thanksgiving celebration. EJ says that Julie got a text from Chad and that was the last anyone heard from him. EJ adds that he texted Chad about the custody hearing this morning but hasn’t heard back, so he’s hoping that he is just taking some time to regroup. Cat worries that doesn’t sound like Chad at all as no matter what stress he was under, he would want to spend Thanksgiving with his children. Cat points out Tony missing too and asks what if it’s no coincidence and someone is targeting his family. Cat worries that EJ or someone he loves could be next.

Brady reminds Rachel that they talked about this and she has to be here so the doctors can watch her and help her manage her feelings. Brady encourages that everyone there cares about her and will help her. Rachel asks if there are other kids there. Brady confirms there are and when she’s ready, she can meet them in the courtyard. Brady promises that he and Tate will visit every day. Rachel asks if Marlena will visit her as well.

Marlena tells Kayla that she’s feeling guilty because she kept information about Rachel from Brady and now he’s rightfully upset with her. Kayla is sure she had her reasons and encourages that Brady loves her and will forgive her. Marlena says that’s fine but questions if she can forgive herself. Marlena asks if it’s possible that she’s not thinking clearly because of her illness or if her grief is clouding her judgment. Kayla thinks she made the best decision she could for Rachel. Marlena feels she failed Rachel as a Grandmother and therapist and now Rachel is having to pay the price.

EJ appreciates Cat’s concern about Chad and says he wants answers too, but he thinks bringing in the police would be a big mistake. EJ knows there are a lot of questions but making a big deal and filing a missing persons report could affect Chad’s custody case if he did just take a few days off. Cat still wants to make sure Chad is safe. EJ assures that he has his private investigation team looking for Chad and Tony as he trusts them more than the police. Cat says that’s good to hear and asks him to let her know if he hears anything. EJ says she’ll be the first he calls as Cat thanks him and then exits the office.

Paulina argues that Belle knows better than anybody that they don’t know how EJ will react when he learns who shot him. Belle then reveals that EJ has known since the middle of August before any of them which shocks Paulina. Belle thinks EJ was trying to honor Kristen’s wishes to protect Rachel and says she will talk to him to make sure he is on board with her proposal. Paulina wishes her luck. Belle says that EJ loves Rachel and his priority is always himself, but he doesn’t have any reason to take it back to court. Paulina supposes she’s right. Belle asks if she can count on Paulina’s support to handle this through the mental health channel and not the juvenile justice system. Paulina argues that with so many unknowns, she can’t commit to anything at the moment.

Rafe walks past the Brady Pub and gets a call from Cat, who tells him to get his breakfast to go and she’ll meet him outside because they have a situation.

Kayla thinks Marlena made the best decision she could at the time and that she had Rachel’s best interests at heart. Kayla urges Marlena to stay calm and focus on taking care of herself because she needs rest. Kayla promises that it will get better. Marlena thanks her for everything as Kayla then exits the room.

Brady tells Rachel that Marlena is still in the hospital but he’s sure when she’s feeling better, she will come visit her. Rachel questions why Marlena can’t just be her doctor. Brady says even the best doctors need help and Marlena agrees that this is the best place for Rachel to be right now. Rachel cries that she doesn’t believe him and accuses him of lying.

Gwen questions Leo having the ring. Javi explains that it was his mother’s ring. Leo adds that it will now be Javi’s engagement ring which shocks Gwen. Leo asks if she’s happy for them. Gwen congratulates them and calls them inspirational. Gwen hopes they have a wonderful life together and their love for each other grows every day. Leo mocks her being insincere and tells Javi that he can’t wait to get the ring on his finger as they walk away.

Rafe and Cat meet outside the Pub. Cat informs Rafe that she has reason to believe that Chad is missing, explaining that he moved out of the Horton house to relieve tension with the family but he never came back for Thanksgiving dinner and no one has been able to reach him since. Cat brings up Chad and Jennifer being at odds lately because of her. Rafe asks if anyone has filed a missing persons report. Cat explains that EJ dispatched his own people and did not want to involve the authorities. Rafe questions if it’s true. Cat asks if Rafe would think EJ wouldn’t want to find his own brothers. Rafe says not if he’s the one behind them missing.

Rachel cries that Marlena and Kristen wouldn’t want her to stay here. Brady tells her that Kristen would want her to get better. Rachel argues that she wouldn’t want her to be in this horrible place. Rachel tells Brady that he has to find Kristen and tell her that they know she didn’t shoot EJ. Brady thinks she knows that. Rachel questions why she said she didn’t then. Brady says she will have to ask her when she sees her and when she gets home, but insists that this is the best place for her to get better. Brady says they have to listen to the doctors and promises it’s going to be okay. Brady gives Rachel a little baseball that he found in John’s things, explaining that John gave it to him to hold onto whenever he was gone to remember how much everyone loves him. Rachel breaks down crying as Brady hugs her.

Belle goes to the hospital and asks Kayla if there’s any update on Marlena. Kayla reveals that they confirmed the diagnosis of Lyme disease. Belle complains that she knew it was EJ’s fault and calls him a penny pinching son of a bitch. Kayla says she will deal with EJ while Belle asks more about Marlena. Kayla tells her that Marlena is very upset about Rachel. Belle asks what she said. Kayla explains that Marlena blames herself for Rachel’s condition and is very hard on herself. Kayla thinks Marlena needs Belle’s help more than ever. Belle assures that she will be there. EJ then comes over and greets them. Belle says she’s going to check on Marlena and walks off. EJ remarks that Belle didn’t seem too pleased to see him. Kayla responds that she had good reason since her mother almost died because of him.

Rafe and Cat go to the Salem Inn to search Chad’s room. Rafe notes that the front desk said he checked in they day before Thanksgiving. Cat checks the bag left in the room and notes that Chad’s wallet and phone are not there while Rafe comments on the room being tidy and that Chad’s still being billed for the room while housekeeping said Chad hadn’t even slept in the bed. Cat states that means Chad hasn’t been back since checking in, so Rafe wonders where the hell is.

EJ questions Kayla blaming him for Marlena’s illness. Kayla holds him personally responsible for the errors in the lab that gave Marlena the wrong test results, blaming his budget cuts. EJ argues that he wasn’t running the tests and his budget cuts saved the hospital. EJ asks if the hospital never had an error before. Kayla argues that it’s under his watch now that the lab is understaffed and underpaid which leads to sloppiness and patients like Marlena are having to pay the price. EJ responds that putting more money in to the hospital’s lab is going to have to come from somewhere and suggests Kayla’s salary. Kayla then suggests shutting down the free clinic’s new mystery lab.

Belle visits Marlena in her hospital room. Marlena tells her that Kayla says she’s on the mend. Belle is glad that they finally have a real diagnosis. Marlena asks what’s going on with Rachel. Belle says they don’t have to talk about that but Marlena insists and asks what she knows. Belle explains that she talked to Paulina about signing off on going through mental health instead of the juvenile justice system but Paulina felt it was too soon to commit. Belle adds that it’s ultimately up to her as the district attorney and she will do everything she can to protect Rachel. Marlena says the important thing now is that Rachel recovers and heals.

Brady knows Bayview is not where Rachel wants to be but encourages that he will be there every step of the way. Rachel asks what if she doesn’t get better and is stuck in here forever. Brady encourages that she will. A nurse comes in to tell Brady it’s time to go so they can get Rachel started on her first session for the day. Brady assures Rachel that everyone there will take great care of her and he’ll be there when it’s time for her to come home. Brady adds that he will call and visit her every day and that Tate will come by. Brady repeats that she will be fine. Rachel pleads with him not to leave her. Rachel apologizes for giving Sarah the ice cream and says she didn’t mean to shoot EJ. Brady urges her to be strong and brave. Rachel cries that she wants to go home and pleads with him but Brady says he loves her and exits. Rachel screams for Brady to come back as Brady cries outside the door.

EJ goes back to his office in frustration. Belle then comes in, so EJ asks if she came to berate him too or to apologize for storming away earlier. Belle questions apologizing to him after everything he’s done to the hospital. EJ says he’s sorry for what happened to Marlena but Belle says she doesn’t want to hear it as that’s not why she’s there. Belle tells him that she wants to talk about Rachel and reveals that she knows what she did.

Leo and Javi walk back through the town square, talking about planning their wedding. Leo suggests asking Marlena to officiate which Javi calls a great idea. Leo can’t wait to tell Marlena that he will be marrying the man of his dreams. Javi tells Leo that he loves him and they kiss as Gwen looks over from nearby.

Rafe tells Cat that Dimitri, Stefan, and Megan have all been missing for quite some time, not that they are necessarily connected to the recent disappearances. Cat brings up Tony while Rafe says there’s been no sightings of Kristen. They talk about Kristen’s mother swearing not to have seen her. Cat adds that now Chad might be missing too. Rafe thinks they have to assume this is all connected. Cat asks what they all have in common. Rafe points out that outside of Dimitri, everyone’s father is Stefano DiMera.

Belle informs EJ that Rachel remembers everything from the night of the shooting and argues that all of this was completely unnecessary since Johnny was going to be acquitted anyway. EJ tells her to take it up with Kristen. Belle argues that Kristen is on the run and he’s sitting here. Belle adds that she knows EJ pushed Kristen in to the confession since he was so desperate to clear Johnny and now Kristen went to prison for nothing and everything is so much worse for Rachel. EJ says he gets all of that but questions what she wants from him or expects him to do about it.

The nurse at Bayview goes to check on Sophia, who remains unresponsive. She says she’ll be back to check on her later and exits.

Brady visits Marlena at the hospital. Marlena says she’s surprised to see her. Brady responds that he didn’t know where else to go. Marlena asks what happened and how Rachel is. Brady says he just came from moving her in to her room at Bayview where she has been admitted. Brady declares that his heart is pretty much torn out.

Gwen continues watching as Leo and Javi continue talking about their wedding. Javi suggests starting by picking a wedding date. Javi brings up spring but Leo feels that’s so far away and wants to do it this year. Leo suggests a New Year’s Eve wedding as big things happen in Salem on New Year’s Eve. Javi worries that is tempting fate. Leo feels they have the opportunity to break the curse and turn anything bad into joyfulness. Leo then announces to everyone in the town square that they are getting married on New Year’s Eve as Gwen remains nearby.

Belle tells EJ that she wants Rachel to get the care she needs. EJ says he won’t stand in the way as he only wants what is best for his niece. Belle wants more than his word and warns that if EJ does anything to hurt Rachel or hinder her care, she’ll come after him for what happened to Marlena. Belle warns him not to try her as he knows he will lose. Belle then storms out of the office.

Cat asks Rafe if they are going with the theory that someone connected to the DiMeras is disappearing them one by one. Rafe says the DiMeras have made a lot of enemies but at this point, it’s just a theory. Cat hopes they are wrong and that Chad is okay. Rafe thinks they have to consider it possible that Chad is missing and that EJ is behind it.

EJ remains in his office and comes across his copy of Wuthering Heights on his desk. EJ starts hearing flashbacks to when Cat was reading it to him during his recovery time. EJ questions why he knows that voice.

Marlena tells Brady that she can’t imagine how difficult it must have been for him to walk away from Rachel. Brady responds that what was really difficult and painful was when Rachel asked why she couldn’t just come home and let Marlena treat her. Brady says he didn’t have the heart to tell Rachel that Marlena let her down with this reckless decision that could’ve cost Sarah her life and unraveled Rachel’s completely. Marlena tries to apologize. Brady says he loves her as she’s pretty much been his mom for most of his life and he hates seeing her in the hospital bed. Brady thinks she needs to concentrate on just getting better herself. Marlena offers to talk to the doctors at Bayview as soon as she can but Brady asks her not to. Brady says he won’t prevent her from visiting Rachel because he won’t punish Rachel, but he doesn’t want Marlena involved in her care. Brady then exits as Marlena holds back tears.

Sophia gets up from her hospital bed in Bayview and enters Rachel’s room. Rachel states that she knows her. Sophia then suddenly smiles big and says hi to Rachel.

EJ and Gwen are in the living room of the DiMera Mansion. EJ is at his desk, reading on his tablet. Gwen questions if he’s just going to stare at that the whole time and asks what he’s reading. EJ tells her it’s a press release about the launch of the free clinic. Gwen thought Stephanie already put one out. EJ says that she will continue to in order to divert everyone’s attention from what they are really up to, including Leo. Gwen reminds EJ that today is an American holiday and asks if he shouldn’t be having turkey somewhere. EJ responds that he’s never had much use for Thanksgiving and that it was only tolerable when Sami and the children were around. EJ then gets a call from Julie and wonders why she would be calling him. EJ answers and tells her that he hasn’t heard from Chad. EJ says he will let her know and hangs up. Gwen asks what’s going on with Chad. EJ responds that according to Julie, Chad is missing.

Chanel and Johnny put Trey down for a nap at home as Paulina and Abe are cooking Thanksgiving dinner. Chanel thanks them for cooking while Paulina says they were happy to bring the holidays to them. Paulina says everything is ready and they will eat as soon as Theo gets there. Abe wonders what is keeping him.

Theo is at work in his office, complaining that he’s read this five times and it still doesn’t make sense.

Maggie and Holly bring Sarah home from the hospital. Sarah thanks them but says they don’t need to fuss over her as it’s not that serious. Maggie argues that Sarah had an allergic reaction and almost died. Sarah insists that she’s totally fine. Maggie points out that it was serious enough that she was kept overnight at the hospital. Sarah repeats that she’s fine and grateful to be back home for Thanksgiving.

Xander staggers in his room alone with empty bottles of alcohol on the floor and tables. He sits down on his bed and sighs as he sadly wishes himself a happy bloody Thanksgiving. He picks up his phone and looks longingly at a photo of Sarah, triggering a flashback to when they were together.

Holly tells Sarah that she’s glad she is home too and asks what exactly happened at the Pub. Maggie says she’d like to know too, pointing out that Sarah is usually so careful about her allergies. Holly asks if Roman served her something with pistachios. Sarah says it doesn’t matter now because it’s over and asks about having turkey.

Gwen tells EJ that she can’t believe Jennifer and Julie would banish Chad from the house where his children leave. EJ jokes about Gwen defending Chad and asks if she’s feeling the holiday spirit. Gwen says she might not be a fan of Chad but she knows he’s a damn good father. EJ explains that they didn’t banish Chad, but he was persuaded to give Thomas some space in hopes that it would calm the situation. Gwen calls it a horrifying situation that Jennifer is suing Chad for custody of his children. EJ agrees that it’s heartless. EJ explains that they invited Chad to Thanksgiving dinner and now Julie is worried because he hasn’t shown up. Gwen laughs off that they banished Chad and still expecting him to come. EJ doesn’t think Chad would pass up the chance to be with his kids and notes that Chad wasn’t answering Julie’s calls and that she only got a short text, but when she asked where he was, there’s been no response. Gwen feels it’s not surprising as Chad probably stuck to letting things cool down. EJ brings up that Chad’s custody hearing is tomorrow, so he better find himself in court by then.

Maggie asks Holly if everything is alright. Holly responds that she hasn’t heard from Tate today and wanted to wish him a happy Thanksgiving. Sarah and Maggie encourage that he must be busy with family and that he will reach out soon.

Theo gets a text from Abe, asking where he is because dinner is ready, but he ignores it and continues working.

Abe complains that Theo is ignoring his texts and not picking up his calls. Abe says it’s not like him since Theo told him he’d be there. Abe suggests maybe they should go ahead and eat but Paulina and Chanel decide to wait awhile longer. Paulina asks Johnny how Marlena is doing. Johnny says she’s good and that her pacemaker procedure went well, so hopefully she can go home soon. Paulina says that she’s been fuming since learning that EJ could be responsible by being too cheap at the hospital. Johnny remarks that every time he thinks EJ can’t disappoint him more, he manages to surprise him. Paulina responds that if it’s true that Marlena has been enduring all of this because of EJ’s budget cuts, she will personally see to it that she’s held accountable.

Theo calls EJ and says he needs his help with a business issue. EJ asks what’s going on. Theo says it’s a licensing agreement that’s about to expire which EJ notes that he negotiated. Theo complains about reviewing the terms for hours. EJ says he will be on his way and see him shortly as he hangs up. EJ informs Gwen that he’s off to DiMera Enterprises because his nephew needs him. Gwen questions what she’s supposed to do all day then as EJ exits. Gwen decides she will find her own fun and exits as well.

Sarah asks Holly about her Friendsgiving. Holly says it was great and jokes about how they all brought pumpkin desserts, so they just ended up making a frozen pizza. Holly hopes they make it an annual tradition. Sarah calls it nice that she got to celebrate with friends and family. Holly then reveals that she plans to spend Christmas in Paris which Eric mentioned when he was in town. Maggie says they will miss her but she’s sure Nicole will be lucky to have her. Sarah points out that it will be an all girls Thanksgiving for them when Victoria wakes up since Justin and Bonnie went to visit Mimi. Maggie adds that Bonnie flew in Justin’s twins to surprise him. Holly mentions never meeting them before and suggests next year they can invite him for a big Kiriakis Thanksgiving.

Chanel asks how Sarah is doing after her allergic reaction. Abe tells her that Roman told him that she’s fine but he’s upset because he has no idea how that happened. Paulina talks about being glad that it didn’t happen at the bakery like the last time since Xander was ready to sue. Johnny reveals that they won’t have to worry about that since he heard that Xander and Sarah just signed their divorce papers.

Gwen finds Xander drinking coffee in the town square and comments that he looks like hell, assuming he has a monstrous hangover. Xander hoped coffee and fresh air would fix it but he had no such luck. Gwen tells him that she has just the cure and to come with him if he wants to feel better. Xander wants to be left alone. Gwen argues that nobody wants to be alone on Thanksgiving. Xander doesn’t care about the holiday. Gwen says she doesn’t either as they are both Brits, asking who better to spend it with. Xander then gives in and walks off with Gwen.

EJ meets Theo at the DiMera Enterprises office and tells Theo that he can see how Theo would have trouble with the agreement unless he was an attorney. Theo explains how the client wants a much higher rate to renew. EJ declares that if he thinks he can play hard ball with Theo, he’s got another thing coming as he makes a phone call.

Paulina, Abe, Chanel, and Johnny finish a video call with Lani, Eli, and their twins. Chanel hopes that they can make it to Salem for Christmas. Paulina asks Abe if he’s heard from his tutoring student Liam. Abe reveals that the other night, Liam tried to grab Cat’s purse in the park but she fought him off and then he ran in to him. Paulina questions why she’s just now hearing about it. Abe says he didn’t want to make a big deal about it. Paulina calls it a big deal and hopes he’s on his way to prison. Abe reveals that he and Cat agreed to let him know since Liam never actually touched Cat’s purse so there was no crime. Chanel argues that he intended to. Abe assures that he made it very clear that he’s out of chances. Paulina argues that he preyed on an innocent woman. Abe explains that Liam has a child to feed and they hope this will turn things around. Johnny comments that Liam is lucky to have Abe in his life as a great teacher. Chanel says just like him. Paulina asks if Johnny will teach again next semester. Johnny responds that he’s not sure since he loves teaching film but working there and at Titan is a lot and now that they have Trey, time is more limited so they will just have to wait and see.

Holly tells Maggie and Sarah how happy she is that she and Tate finished their project before Thanksgiving break. Sarah says now all she has to worry about is finals. Holly says college is a lot different than high school but she’s still on track to make straight A’s. Maggie points out that Sarah also had great grades in school. Sarah recalls struggling with geometry and algebra. Maggie encourages that Sarah had a goal and worked really hard to achieve it, just like Holly can. Holly and Sarah call Maggie their role model. Maggie says there are times that she wishes she had the college experience. Holly says it’s never too late and jokes that they could even be classmates. Maggie tells Holly to focus on herself and points out that she could be another physician in the family. Holly reveals that she landed an internship with Stephanie so she will helping out at SJPR. Holly mentions helping with Stephanie’s book tour and sorting through fan mail which Maggie notes will be a lot. Holly talks about her plan which Maggie calls impressive. Sarah asks if any of the fan mail has been spicy. Holly says a lot of it has just been praise but admits some has been a little creepy. Sarah comments on overzealous fans. Maggie advises her to be very careful. Holly assures that she will remain anonymous if she responds, so she doesn’t have to worry.

Theo stops EJ from making the call. EJ thought he wanted him to help. Theo explains that he wanted EJ to walk him through the process, not fight the battle for him. EJ understands. Theo explains that he’s overwhelmed without Tony’s help as Tony was going to walk him through everything and he’s not quite there yet. EJ assures that his investigators are doing everything in their power to find Tony. EJ adds that it’s understandable to be overwhelmed because being CEO is hard. EJ encourages that Tony put Theo in the chair because they know he belongs. Theo appreciates the support. EJ says they will go over the agreement so Theo can show who is boss.

Gwen brings Xander to the DiMera Mansion for English breakfast as his hangover cure. Xander questions EJ’s cook having time to make this after a Thanksgiving feast. Gwen explains that EJ doesn’t care about Thanksgiving so he gave the staff off, revealing she made the breakfast. Xander questions her not having a family get together to get to. Sarah jokes that her invitations from the Hortons and the Johnsons must have got lost, so her only family is the DiMeras as she repeats that EJ doesn’t care about Thanksgiving. Gwen takes a bite to prove she didn’t drug it and asks if he’s satisfied, urging him to go on and eat.

Theo appreciates EJ going through everything with him, admitting he’s not happy that he had to ask for his help as he likes to handle his own problems. EJ is sure Theo will soon handle things with ease but if he ever needs help or guidance, he will be there for him. Theo gets another text from Abe and says he has to get going to Thanksgiving. Theo mentions that they are having it at Johnny and Chanel’s since it’s the baby’s first Thanksgiving. Theo wishes EJ a Happy Thanksgiving even though he’s not celebrating. EJ wishes him the same as he then exits the office.

Holly goes to the kitchen to check on dinner. Sarah then asks Maggie if Xander used her medical emergency as an excuse to see Victoria. Maggie says he didn’t which Sarah says is good. Maggie remarks that Xander has been remarkably well-behaved and hasn’t shown up once. Sarah informs her that he showed up at the hospital, so she reminded him that he promised to stay away and he just left. Sarah calls it bizarre that Xander followed somebody else’s rules without flying in to a rage. Maggie encourages that maybe he’s finally growing up. Sarah calls it too little, too late.

After eating, Gwen asks Xander if he’s feeling better. Xander says he is actually and thanks her. Gwen asks if he wants to share why he’s spending the day hungover or why he got so hammered in the first place as she thought he wasn’t going to use alcohol anymore to solve his problems. Xander explains that he wasn’t but his shrink ended up in the hospital at the same time that his ex-wife had another allergic reaction. Xander reveals that he and Sarah signed divorce papers, giving Sarah full custody of Victoria, so he will never see his daughter again if Sarah has it her way. Gwen says she’s so sorry. Xander then adds that Sarah is finding solace in Brady’s arms. Gwen then says no wonder he started drinking. Xander knows it won’t help but he didn’t want to feel it. Gwen says she understands. Xander calls them quite the pair. Gwen points out that they aren’t alone since they are together as friends and she could think of worse people to spend the day with.

Theo goes to Johnny and Chanel’s. Paulina says it’s about time while Chanel wishes him a happy Thanksgiving. Chanel and Johnny go to check on Trey before they eat. Abe questions why Theo didn’t return his messages as he was worried. Theo apologizes as he got caught up in the office. Paulina questions Theo working on Thanksgiving. Theo calls it a regular work day for most. Abe guesses it hasn’t been regular with Tony missing. Theo then explains that he called EJ for help which Abe says is good. Theo is surprised that Abe is cool with him turning to EJ as he thought he would go ballistic. Abe calls it a sign of maturity to ask for help when needed. Theo thanks him and goes to wash up. Paulina kisses Abe and says it takes great maturity to evolve in his thinking which is what she sees in him with Theo running DiMera and being okay with turning to EJ for help. Paulina jokes that’s even too far for her. Abe then flashes back to asking EJ for help getting Theo away from DiMera Enterprises. Paulina hugs Abe and says she’s so proud of him.

EJ goes to his lab and approaches the tube in the room. EJ declares that most people spend Thanksgiving with their loved ones, while paying a visit here will be the closest he gets to that this year.

Xander thanks Gwen for everything. Xander adds that he knows he’s never welcome to anything unless she’s also getting something out of it which Gwen calls really cynical. Gwen asks what she would want from him and calls him big-headed. Gwen insists that she didn’t lure him here for an ulterior motive. Gwen says that Xander made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t want to give them another go and remarks that unlike him with Sarah, she can take a hint. Xander wishes her a happy Thanksgiving too.

Sarah and Maggie talk about finishing Thanksgiving dinner while Holly went to check on Victoria. Maggie brings up that Sarah seemed rather evasive earlier when talking about her allergic reaction, so she wondered what Sarah didn’t want them know. Sarah says she can’t say anything yet, but it wasn’t an accident. Maggie is shocked and asks if it was Xander. Sarah assures that Xander is capable of horrible things but he would never physically hurt her, so Maggie questions who did.

Paulina, Abe, Johnny, Chanel, and Theo eat Thanksgiving dinner. Abe tells Theo that he’s grateful to have him home. Theo says he missed all of them. Chanel says they are so happy he’s back in Salem. Johnny mentions their video chat with Eli, Lani, and their kids and says how grateful he is to be part of this incredible extended family as he doesn’t know where they’d be without them. Paulina says that’s what family is all about and now they have their newest family member to love and support. Trey wakes up crying, so Paulina goes to take care of him. Johnny jokes about the free child care being a Thanksgiving miracle.

EJ sits at the tube in the lab and says that Dr. Rolf tells him he’s on the verge of a tremendous breakthrough in his trials. EJ prays this means he’ll be seeing them again very soon.

Gabi, Arianna, and Rafe set up for Thanksgiving at home. Gabi mentions setting a sixth place at the table for Philip which Rafe questions. Gabi asks if she needed to give advance notice. Rafe feels she’s springing it on them last minute while Gabi calls it no big deal. Rafe argues that inviting her boyfriend over to meet the family on Thanksgiving seems like a big deal to him. Gabi argues that Philip already knows the family so there’s no need to make it a big deal and explains that Philip wasn’t happy with the Kiriakis situation, so she told him they could provide him the Thanksgiving home experience which Rafe and Arianna joke about. Rafe opens the fridge, causing Gabi to realize she forgot the milk. Gabi decides to go get it and tells them to continue cooking and to make sure Javi and Leo are still alive, so Arianna goes to check on them as Gabi exits.

Javi and Leo wake up in bed together. Leo remarks that he’s surprised his family hasn’t barged in to demand they help with Thanksgiving dinner. Javi jokes that no one wants Leo in the kitchen and calls him his weakness as they kiss.

Jennifer and Thomas set the table for Thanksgiving dinner at the Hortons. Thomas asks where to set Maggie’s place card as he thought she was coming with Holly but Jennifer explains that Maggie will be picking up Sarah from the hospital, so they are just going to have a quiet Thanksgiving at home. Thomas then comes across Chad’s place card so Jennifer asks where he wants him to sit. Thomas says as far away from him as possible. Jennifer knows Chad being there for Thanksgiving is making Thomas uncomfortable, but she also wants to thank Thomas for agreeing to invite him. Thomas remarks that he only did it for Charlotte.

Jack joins Julie in the living room of the Horton family. Julie talks about cleaning up as family are the most precious guests. Jack says he knows how difficult this day is for Julie. Julie says she doesn’t want to withdraw and is grateful to spend the day with them as they hug. Julie confides in Jack that sometimes she forgets and expects to see Doug coming down the stairs. Julie says it’s hard to realize that a year ago, Doug left them on Thanksgiving Day.

Kristen and Tony remain locked up in the DiMera Crypt. Kristen remarks that she thought prison Thanksgiving was bleak but she wishes she had that now. Tony says on the bright side, she at least has her freedom. Kristen wonders how their brothers are spending the day. Tony guesses EJ is dining alone because Chad is with the Hortons and Johnny wants nothing to do with his father. Kristen guesses Rachel would be having dinner with Brady and Marlena. Kristen hates the idea that Rachel thinks she broke out of prison, ran away, and abandoned her. Tony worries that Anna must think he skipped out on their cruise, never to return. Kristen and Tony declare that they have to get out of here.

Charlotte joins Thomas and Jennifer in the dining room. Thomas brings up pulling the wishbone. Charlotte declares that she’s going to wish for Chad to come back home. Thomas responds that the wish only comes true if you get the bigger piece of the wishbone, so if he gets it, he will wish that Chad never comes home.

Julie tells Jack that the days tend to drag without Doug as time flies when having fun. Julie remarks that there hasn’t been much fun in this family for quite awhile. Jack calls it a shame that things have gotten so messy with Chad. Julie argues that they are trying to take Chad’s children away from him and that is beyond messy. Jack agrees that things have gotten contentious and he’s sorry for that, but they hope this lawsuit will bring Chad to his senses. Julie complains that in the meantime, Thomas doesn’t want to talk to his father while Charlotte just wants to see her dad. Jack admits they hope that Charlotte is oblivious to what’s going on but insists that he and Jennifer are going to help them through this and keep them safe. Julie hopes they can put their differences aside to get through this day. Jack hopes she understands that he and Jennifer are not trying to hurt Chad and he still cares for him very much. Jack knows Chad loved Abigail and made her very happy and he loves his children, but Thomas’s accident proved to them that action had to be taken. Julie responds that she has her own opinions about Chad’s choices, but when it comes down to it, they are one family and Jack is part of it. Jack hopes someday they will all heal from this and move on, but they just have to get through today.

JJ runs in to Gabi in the town square and wishes her a happy Thanksgiving. JJ figured she’d be hard at work for the Hernandez feast. Gabi explains that she forgot the milk for the mashed potatoes. JJ says he just got off work and is heading home. Philip appears and asks what Gabi is doing there. Gabi calls it a dairy emergency. Philip and JJ greet one another while Gabi says she should get home before Rafe texts her again. Philip says he’s heading that way and offers to escort her the rest of the way. Philip informs JJ that Gabi generously invited him over for Thanksgiving. Gabi explains that Philip was light on plans. Gabi tells JJ to have a great Thanksgiving as she and Philip walk off together.

Leo and Javi kiss in bed until Arianna calls out to ask if they are coming down for dinner. Javi says they’ll be right there while Leo says they will have to have a conversation about privacy in the house. Javi then asks Leo how he would feel about them getting a place of their own. Javi says he loves his family but admits they can be a little overwhelming. Javi tells Leo that he is his family now and asks if he wants to play house with him. Leo responds by kissing him.

JJ goes home where Jack tells him that Julie and Jennifer have been cooking up a storm. JJ asks if there’s anything he can do to help. Julie says he’s been keeping the streets of Salem safe all day. Jack says they are just glad JJ made it in time to eat. JJ asks if Chad is there. Jack says not yet. Jack then brings up Doug’s job at Thanksgiving and asks JJ to help him carve the turkey. JJ says he would be honored. Julie thanks them as they head to the kitchen.

Rafe and Arianna talk about dinner and waiting for Gabi to bring the milk. Arianna says she’s going to go turn on a football game. Rafe is surprised to learn that she’s now a football fan. Arianna explains that she started dominating her fantasy football league at the dorms. Leo then comes in and says Javi is taking his time. Rafe sarcastically thanks Leo for his help in the kitchen while Leo says that his way of helping was staying out of his way. Leo adds that he did bring plenty of wine so Rafe jokes that he’s off the hook. Leo tells Rafe that there is something he’d like to talk to him about. Rafe responds that there’s actually something he’d like to talk to him about. Gabi then comes home with Philip, who wishes them a happy Thanksgiving. Philip brought wine and thanks Rafe for hosting him. Philip asks what he can do to help, but Rafe and Leo say they are good. Leo reminds Rafe to finish their talk later.

Kristen and Tony talk about Kristen’s attempts to dig in the floor. Kristen cuts her hand and asks Tony to get her a bandage. Tony questions where she thinks there are supplies. Kristen calls him useless. Tony argues that there’s nothing he can do and maybe her attitude is why no one is looking for her. Kristen suggests the cops could be tracking her down. Tony says that the cops think she probably left Salem and that he’s in the Greek isles. Kristen believes that for Thanksgiving, someone in their family will show up to pay respects to their dearly departed loved ones. Tony says they can’t name a member of the family that departed dearly. Kristen worries that they will never get out of here.

Philip thanks Rafe again for hosting him. Rafe says it must be a little different from the Kiriakis Estate. Philip says that’s never this warm. Javi jokes to wait until they are a few glasses in. Rafe says they know what time it is. Arianna suggests skipping it but Rafe calls it tradition. Philip asks what he’s missing. Gabi explains that they go around saying what they are thankful for. Arianna asks if they can wait until they are at the table but Rafe says no because the table is for eating. Arianna refuses to start so Javi starts by saying he’s thankful for the time he got to spend with Tesoro and all of them. Rafe says he’s thankful for his family as they got him through some rough times this year. Arianna and Gabi agree. Gabi adds that she’s grateful to have full control back at Gabi Chic which Arianna says she deserves. Arianna is thankful to be living on her own at the dorms. Rafe is thankful that they are all here together and healthy. Gabi tells Philip it’s his turn and asks what he is thankful for. Philip responds that after the year he had, it’s a tricky one but he’s thankful for forgiveness, knowing that even after screwing up in the worst possible way, the people who love you will still be there for you. Philip adds that he’s also thankful for loyalty and the people who stand by you meaning a lot.

Julie brings up her book club while Thomas comments on being hungry. JJ says they will eat soon and are just waiting for Chad. Charlotte questions where Chad is. Jennifer remarks that she wishes she knew. Julie guesses Chad might not have gotten her message so she goes to call him again. Jennifer complains to Jack that she cannot believe Chad didn’t even tell them where he was going and now they don’t even know if he’s going to show up. Jack suggests he took Jeremy’s advice to give some space while Jennifer argues that he didn’t say to fall off the face of the earth. Jack wonders if he could’ve stopped to pick something up at the store. Jennifer argues that he should text his kids then so they aren’t sitting here waiting. Jack admits he can’t believe that Chad wouldn’t jump through hoops to be with his kids on this day.

Rafe, Gabi, Philip, Leo, and Javi return to the kitchen after finishing their meal. Rafe talks about never being this full. Philip offers to help clean up. Arianna joins them and asks if no one is going to wach the rest of the football game with her. Javi says he’s so in while Leo says he’ll join for the halftime show. Rafe stops Philip and says guests do not do the dishes, so he tells Philip to go watch the game with Gabi and he will let them know when dessert is ready. Philip asks if he’s sure while Gabi jokes not to argue with Rafe when he’s offering to do the dirty work. Leo talks to Rafe about not being in to football and reminds him about their talk. Leo tells Rafe to go first. Rafe says that word is Leo is investigating EJ and his new clinic. Leo questions who told him that. Rafe asks if he has any idea what’s going on there. Leo says no, but the fact that Rafe is acting suggests that he and the FBI suspect something fishy. Rafe responds that he thinks it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on EJ and the DiMeras. Leo mentions how they can’t keep an eye on Tony and Kristen and asks if he knows anything about that. Rafe says no and if he did, he couldn’t talk to him about it. Rafe then asks if that’s what Leo wanted to talk to him about. Leo says his was about him and Javi as he wanted to ask Rafe for a huge favor.

Jennifer calls for them to have dinner. Charlotte asks about Chad. Jennifer hopes he’ll be there soon but declares they can’t wait any longer.

Tony lets Kristen use one of his shirts as a bandage. Kristen says if they can’t figure out a way to escape, they could at least figure out who is keeping them here. Kristen asks why them and why now. Tony points out that whoever brought them wasn’t planning on starving them to death. Kristen agrees that they have enough food to last them years which is also the bad news. Kristen wonders how long they are going to keep them in here. Tony suggests there could be another reason why the supply is so plentiful. Tony says when he first arrived, he was alone and then Kristen showed up. Kristen asks if he’s saying they can expect company for Thanksgiving.

Julie says the prayer ahead of Thanksgiving dinner, saying they are grateful for everyone at the table and everyone who cannot be with them. Charlotte looks over at the empty space for Chad.

Philip, Gabi, Arianna, and Javi rejoin Leo and Rafe in the kitchen for dessert. Philip thanks Gabi again for including him. Gabi thanks him for coming and says they were glad to have him. Arianna adds that Philip was good luck for her fantasy football league. Leo then presents Javi with a piece of pie with Javi’s mother’s engagement ring on top which Javi questions. Javi points out that she left that to Rafe. Leo responds that he asked Rafe if he could borrow it. Rafe clarifies that he said no to borrowing it and that Leo could have it because it always should’ve been Javi’s. Javi questions what is happening. Leo then gets down on one knee and proposes to Javi.

Tony tells Kristen to stop pacing while Kristen questions what she is supposed to do until the door to the crypt suddenly opens.

Leo points out that he didn’t say what he was grateful for earlier and he was about to, but something told him to wait as he hoped to do it now like this. Leo tells Javi that he is eternally grateful for him. Leo recalls knowing the night they met that there was something special about him. Leo says he never would’ve guessed where that night would lead them and somehow they survived his screw ups, so now he feels they are closer than ever and like there is nothing he could say that Javi wouldn’t understand and still love him. Leo points out that now they live with his amazing family and raised a child together. Leo repeats that he never felt like he had a family until Javi brought him in to his. Leo says thanks to all of them, he realized he was missing love, support, kindness and craziness. Leo adds that when he asked Rafe for the ring, he didn’t know that he would give it to him right then. Leo jokes about being impatient and says he knows the ring won’t fit but it’s symbolic. Javi responds that he has something symbolic for him and kisses him as he says yes to his proposal. Everyone applauds as Leo calls it the happiest moment of his life. Leo says they will take the ring to the jeweler tomorrow to get it to actually fit him. Gabi says until then and puts it on a necklace and puts it on Javi. Gabi says she never thought she’d say this but welcomes Leo to the family. Leo hugs her and thanks her, saying he’s so grateful and they are all the greatest. Javi calls Leo an amazing addition to their family. Rafe jokes that if Leo hurts Javi, there will be hell to pay. Leo promises to make Javi as happy as he makes him. Javi responds that he already does. Rafe wishes them both a long and happy life as husband and husband as they hug.

JJ suggests Thomas and Charlotte head upstairs to start their annual Monopoly tournament, so they exit the kitchen. Jennifer cannot believe Chad did not show up and brings up the look on Charlotte’s face. Jennifer asks if Jack thinks Chad spent Thanksgiving with Cat. Jack would like to think Cat is not the reason that Chad did not show. Jennifer questions what other reason there would be. Jack relates to knowing what it’s like to be the pariah of the family and that today would’ve been a really difficult day for Chad. Jennifer argues that they agreed to put that aside for today. Jack didn’t think anything would keep Chad from being there so he hopes Chad is okay. Julie’s phone then goes off so Jack checks and sees a message from Chad, saying he just saw this and to tell the kids he loves them.

Julie sits in the living room at a photo of Doug, talking about it being the first Thanksgiving without him and how she knew it would be difficult. Julie asks Doug to do something to bring peace back to the family as she begins to cry.

Someone is tied up with a mask over their head and dumped in to the DiMera Crypt with Kristen and Tony. Kristen removes the mask revealing an unconscious Chad.

Belle brings Thanksgiving dinner to Marlena in her hospital room. Marlena doesn’t know what to say and isn’t sure she can handle all of that. Marlena asks if there’s enough for everyone at home. Belle tells Marlena that they brought the Thanksgiving feast to her so they can still be together on the day that family means the most.

Roman and Kate set up for Thanksgiving at the Brady Pub. Roman tells Kate that Marlena’s surgery was a success and that she thanks Kate for the book she sent. Kate mentions hearing that Brady and Belle are planning an impromptu Thanksgiving at the hospital. Roman confirms they are, so Marlena will be with family. Kate wishes they were too, but she’s glad they saw them at the gala. Kate says that Philip came by earlier and Arianna will come by after while their respective children and grandchildren are doing well, so they have a lot to be thankful for. Roman agrees and says when he counts his blessings, Kate is at the very top of the list as they kiss.

Steve and Kayla stop outside the Pub and talk about helping families in need being one of their favorite traditions. Steve says it reminds him of when he was a kid and having nothing to be thankful for, but now he almost feels guilty for how blessed he is with a beautiful family and no money troubles. Steve declares that he’s most grateful for Kayla. Kayla agrees that they are so lucky as they kiss.

Alex goes home where Stephanie is finishing typing a press release. Alex asks if there’s anything he can help with and notices a box of fan mail that Holly has been sorting through for her. Stephanie mentions that she was going to take some with her to read on her tour. Alex finds one that is addressed directly to Stephanie Johnson and not Anastasia Sands. Alex reads it and is shocked as he exclaims “what the hell!”

Brady goes home where Tate complains that he’s been texting him all morning since he didn’t come home last night and he freaked out. Brady apologizes and says his phone died at the hospital. Tate asks if Marlena is okay. Brady confirms that she’s good and her surgery was a success. Tate says that’s great but asks why he was at the hospital. Brady informs him that he was with Rachel, so Tate asks what happened. Brady reveals to Tate that his sister has been assigned to the psychiatric ward.

Marlena tells Belle how lucky she feels to have such a kind and loving daughter. Belle calls her the best mom. Marlena assumes she planned Thanksgiving with Brady which Belle confirms. Marlena asks if that means Brady will be bringing Rachel and Tate as she mentions hoping they have key lime pie since she remembers that is Rachel’s favorite.

Tate questions Rachel being in the psychiatric ward. Brady says all he needs to know is that her therapist feels she’s best suited to be observed at the hospital right now until eventually moving to Bayview, which shocks Tate, who asks if it’s that bad and serious. Brady confirms that it is. Tate asks if he’s allowed to see her at the hospital. Brady says that the nurse told him they could probably visit in the afternoon, so he thought they would have Thanksgiving at the hospital with Marlena and Belle, then try to sneak in to see Rachel. Tate can’t imagine how upsetting this must be for him and says he’s so sorry. Brady knows it’s upsetting for him too. Tate calls it hard to believe as he knew Rachel was in therapy, but he had no idea that she was struggling like this. Brady responds that he didn’t either.

Stephanie asks Alex what it is. Alex responds that this letter is seriously messed up. Stephanie tells him not to make fun of the fans. Alex reads the letter that says his heart yearns for her and they will be together. Alex feels this guy is really overstepping. Stephanie asks how he knows it’s a guy. Alex says regardless, no one should be writing her a letter like this. Stephanie feels they are just showing appreciation for her work. Alex argues that it’s about more than her writing and it’s completely unacceptable, like this guy is in love with her. Stephanie laughs it off as crazy and tells Alex to think about the letters he got when he was on Body and Soul. Stephanie talks about some fans being obsessed with him but she wouldn’t categorize any of that as love. Alex feels this is different. Stephanie asks if he’s just saying that because now they are obsessed with her instead of him. Alex questions this not making her uncomfortable. Stephanie says she’s in public relations and 99% of these people are harmless. Alex asks about the 1%. Stephanie assures that if she senses a pattern, she will do something about it but says she’s not worried about and he shouldn’t be either. Stephanie realizes the time and that they have to go meet her family at the Pub. Stephanie asks Alex to call the Bakery to see if their pie order is ready while she goes to finish packing. Alex then pockets the letter from the fanmail.

Belle asks how Marlena is feeling and if she can get her anything before everyone else shows up. Marlena says she’s just fine and looking forward to Thanksgiving with her family as she has so much to be grateful for. Belle is glad to hear as she was worried how she would feel about the holiday since it’s their first one without John. Marlena admits it’s different and she knows how much Belle is missing him too. Belle knows how hard it must be for Marlena since John was the love of her life. Marlena says they had so many wonderful years together and his greatest gift was giving her Belle as she’s so grateful for her. Marlena encourages that John lives on in Belle and everybody in their family as they hug.

Steve and Kayla enter the Pub and tell Roman and Kate that the deliveries went great. Roman says the Pub is always happy to provide. Kate asks Steve if he talked to Jada about joining them. Steve says she unfortunately has to work but she appreciated the invitation. Roman adds that Shawn is on the clock too but says he’d be by later for leftovers. Kate says she was going to send some food over to Belle and Brady but apparently Belle cooked an entire dinner to bring to the hospital. Steve is glad that means Marlena is doing better which Kayla confirms. Kate asks about Sarah. Kayla informs her that Sarah made a full recovery and is being discharged today. Roman calls that great to hear as he felt terrible and somewhat responsible since her allergic reaction happened at the Pub. Roman mentions that he still has no idea how that could’ve happened.

Tate packs Rachel’s backpack with a few of her things in case they get to see her as he feels it would help her feel less scared which Brady calls thoughtful of him. Tate says if they don’t get to see her, maybe he can leave it for her before they go see Marlena. Brady tells Tate that he and Belle have decided not to tell Marlena about what’s going on with Rachel because she’s in a fragile state and they figured it’d be best to deliver that news once she’s out of the hospital. Tate asks what if Marlena asks about Rachel and questions if they are supposed to lie. Brady says they will tell the truth by just saying that Rachel is not well while just leaving out some details. Brady then gets a message from the hospital that they will be allowed to visit Rachel, so they exit for the hospital.

Kate gives Steve and Kayla glasses of wine as Steve brings up that he doesn’t think it’s going to be a very happy Thanksgiving for the DiMeras with Kristen on the run and Tony missing. Kayla calls it odd that both of them are missing at the same time. Roman wonders if it’s all part of a classic DiMera scheme. Kate says from her experience, the DiMeras are totally unpredictable and whatever you think they are doing, the reality is always stranger. Stephanie and Alex then arrive and greet them. Kayla asks if Stephanie is packed and ready for her book tour. Stephanie downplays it as not a big deal. Roman hypes up her going to Chicago and has places to recommend they go. Alex asks if he can talk with Steve for a second so they step aside. Alex tells Steve not to show Stephanie that he showed him this, but explains a fan later made him very uncomfortable. Alex adds that Stephanie thinks he’s overreacting but asks what Steve thinks. Steve agrees with Stephanie that fan letters can be over the top so he wouldn’t worry about it. Alex responds that he kind of is worried and asks if Steve can figure out who sent it to give him peace of mind. Steve agrees to look in to it.

Brady and Tate go to the hospital to visit Rachel, where the nurse tells them that Rachel was agitated so they gave her a sedative. Tate asks if they can stay with her until she wakes up. The nurse says they can but that she will almost certainly be asleep for a couple of hours. Brady says that’s okay and they will wait. Brady asks Tate to go to Marlena’s room while he waits here since they are probably wondering where they are. Tate responds that he thinks Brady needs to go because he needs to tell Marlena what’s going on. Brady reminds him that they talked about this. Tate argues that Marlena is a psychiatrist and loves Rachel as much as they do. Tate thinks talking to Marlena about it could help Brady deal with it. Brady worries about how Marlena will deal with it as he doesn’t want to upset her. Tate warns Brady about how upset Marlena would be if she finds out he kept this from her, especially if she could’ve done something to help Rachel. Brady says he’s not making any promises but he will go to Marlena’s room and if she seems up for it, he will tell her what’s going on with Rachel. Tate hopes that he does and says he will text him if Rachel wakes up. Brady then exits the room.

Marlena questions Belle dating again. Belle responds that she’s trying to as she signed up for a dating app a few weeks ago. Belle says it’s still new to her and makes it feel weird, pointing out that the first person it matched her with was Chad. Marlena asks if Belle is thinking about going out with Chad which Belle laughs off until Brady arrives to greet them. Marlena asks where Rachel and Tate are. Brady responds that Rachel is not feeling too well, so Tate decided to stay back with her. Marlena says she’s sorry to hear that and asks what’s wrong. Brady and Belle both try to answer, so Marlena tells them to try again and get it together. Marlena says if they are trying to save her the stress of whatever is going on, this is far more stressful than not knowing.

Tate stays at Rachel’s side and talks to her about taking care of her snake. Tate brings her a stuffed animal snake from her backpack which he says was supposed to be her Christmas present. Tate talks about how much it meant to him when Rachel visited him when he was in a halfway house and feels this is his chance to repay her for that. Tate declares that no matter how long it takes her to get through this, he will be there for her every step of the way.

Stephanie brings up Kayla and Steve being the Brady Pub trivia champs. Steve jokes that they are a wealth of useless knowledge. Roman is glad it went so well. Kate says she’s sorry she missed it. Stephanie asks if they will do more. Roman hopes to as long as he gets more people involved. Alex points out that if they do a theme night, Johnny would kill it at movie trivia. Kate says that depends on if Johnny and Chanel have the time while taking care of their new baby. Kayla says she was so happy to hear about their adoption. Steve congratulates Roman on another great grandchild. Roman says they are the best. Kayla remarks that they wouldn’t know. Steve comments on it being hard to test that theory with no grandchildren to speak of…

Brady informs Marlena that the truth is Rachel is in the hospital, so she asks what happened. Brady reveals that yesterday, Rachel gave Sarah some pistachio ice cream which Sarah is extremely allergic to and went in to shock. Brady adds that Sarah is okay, but when he confronted Rachel about it, she admitted to doing it on purpose. Marlena asks why she would do that. Brady says that’s a bit more complicated than he wants to get in to, but they have a bigger issue which Marlena questions. Brady explains that when Rachel saw Sarah almost die from something that she did, it triggered a memory for her that she has buried for some time. Brady then tells Marlena that Rachel was the one who shot EJ.

Kate and Roman finish a video chat with Carrie and Austin. Alex and Stephanie talk about getting ready for the Dallas Cowboys game. Roman says that Carrie and Austin send their love and asks if everyone is ready to eat as they sit at the table.

Marlena questions Belle knowing that Rachel shot EJ. Belle says that Brady told her yesterday and she’s sure she can understand why they initially decided to keep this from her. Brady adds that Dr. Fuller said they want to keep Rachel for intensive treatment and that they will move her to Bayview when a bed opens up. Marlena says she’s sorry as she wishes she knew that Rachel was still a danger to others. Belle questions what she is saying. Marlena then reveals that she was there when EJ remembered who shot him and that he pressured Kristen in to making sure that Johnny was acquitted. Brady is shocked to learn that Marlena knew all this time that Rachel shot EJ and didn’t tell him which she admits to. Belle suggests now is not the best time to discuss all of this. Marlena thinks they both have a right to know the truth. Brady wants to hear it. Marlena explains that when Rachel suppressed the memory of shooting EJ, she wanted to make sure that if it came back, it happened at a time she could handle that and at the right time and place. Marlena thought she would be there to help. Brady points out that she wasn’t and now his daughter is sedated, waiting to be transferred to a psychiatric ward. Brady argues that Marlena should’ve told him. Marlena responds that she didn’t because Rachel needs him so much and she didn’t want what she had done to adversely affect his relationship with her. Brady asks if she didn’t think he could treat his own child. Marlena felt there was a chance that if he knew, Rachel could accidentally find out. Brady declares he has to get out of here and storms out. Marlena tells Belle that she’s so sorry.

Brady returns to Rachel’s hospital room where Tate is telling her stories from when she was little. Brady thanks Tate for staying with her as she is going to need a lot of support from all of them. Tate brings up what great Grandma Caroline would tell them to do if she was there. Brady agrees that she would tell them to pray so Brady begins to pray at Rachel’s side.

Roman says a prayer before Thanksgiving dinner, praying to watch over their family, thanking God for bringing Bo back to them and praying for him to watch over Marlena’s recovery and Kimberly fighting her illness. Kayla proposes a toast to the Bradys and all those they love to continue to make sweet moments like this.

Philip and Gabi have drinks at the Brady Pub and toast to their first official date. Gabi admits she’s been looking forward to this all day and talks about cooking dessert for Thanksgiving. Gabi asks if Maggie has anything special planned for the Kiriakis Thanksgiving. Philip doubts it with Sarah being in the hospital plus Maggie and Xander being on the outs would make things awkward. Philip adds that Kate said he could spend it here with her and Roman, but he’s not really feeling it this year. Gabi then invites Philip to spend Thanksgiving with her family.

Jennifer plans for Thanksgiving at home with Thomas and Charlotte. Jennifer worries about Julie being sad to see Doug’s card when she gets back from visiting the cemetery. Thomas then asks if he can throw Chad’s card away.

Steve surprises Kayla at the hospital and asks if she’s still up for date night. Kayla says she is but with Marlena’s surgery and what happened to Sarah, she’s been a little on edge. Steve wants to make all her troubles disappear for one night. Xander arrives with flowers. Kayla quickly tells him that Sarah doesn’t want to see him and she doesn’t know who told him what happened, but she needs her rest to recover. Xander questions what she means and what happened to Sarah.

Brady visits Sarah in her hospital room. Sarah says she’s feeling much better and that she’ll be just fine thanks to him. Sarah asks Brady what’s wrong. Brady tells her that he’s very sorry.

Philip thanks Gabi but says he couldn’t impose. Gabi insists he wouldn’t be and that it will be a very low key Thanksgiving. Philip admits it sounds perfect if she’s sure that Rafe and Arianna won’t mind him crashing their Thanksgiving. Gabi jokes that if they can put up with Leo, he’ll be a walk in the park. Gabi then asks Philip if he will come. Philip responds that he would love to.

Jennifer tells Thomas that she knows he’s angry with his dad, but he’s still his dad. Thomas remarks that he wishes he wasn’t. Charlotte asks why. Jennifer tries to say he didn’t mean that but Thomas says he did and that Charlotte is too little to understand. Charlotte complains that she misses her dad.

Xander asks Kayla what’s going on with Sarah. Kayla says she’s already told him too much. Xander argues that Sarah is the mother of his child. Kayla tells Xander that she’s going to be fine. Xander decides he’ll find her room himself and leaves the flowers for Marlena as he rushes off. Kayla complains about more stress being added to her day. Steve points out that Xander wasn’t playing as he really didn’t know about Sarah since the card with his flowers is made out to Marlena. Kayla calls that kind but out of character for him.

Sarah tells Brady that what happened wasn’t his fault just because they went out for ice cream. Brady feels it is and reveals to her that Rachel knew Sarah was allergic to pistachio and when they weren’t looking, she switched her order and put some of it in Sarah’s. Sarah is shocked to learn that Rachel wanted to hurt her. Brady confirms that his daughter is the reason Sarah almost died.

Jennifer hugs Charlotte and tells her that Chad just needed some time alone but he will be back soon. Julie comes home and praises the decorations in the dining room. Jennifer says the kids did a great job. Jennifer then asks Thomas to help Charlotte finish her paper turkey as she steps aside with Julie to ask how she’s holding up. Julie says she’s fine but it’s hard to believe that Friday marks a year since Doug left them. Julie says the house has been filled with people ever since but it still feels half empty without Doug’s warmth in every room. Jennifer says that she wanted to be with her at the cemetery but felt that Julie needed time alone with Doug. Julie thanks her and says she talks to Doug all the time, but at the cemetery she feels like Doug answers her with all his love and wisdom. Jennifer asks if Julie wants to share any of that wisdom. Julie responds that she’s a very rich wisdom because God gave her all this time with the people she loves because they might still need her. Julie says that Doug told her to give love unselfishly and that Jennifer being there is the best thing for her heart.

Steve and Kayla go to the Brady Pub and talk with Roman. Roman asks if Marlena is going to be okay and her pacemaker surgery went well. Kayla says so far, so good but she’s sure that Marlena wishes she wasn’t spending Thanksgiving in the hospital. Steve notes that especially being her first Thanksgiving since John passed. Roman says he’ll make sure to visit her tomorrow. Gabi tells Philip that they have everything covered for Thanksgiving dinner while Philip insists that he has to bring something. Philip then gets a call from Xander, who says he just found out that Sarah is in the hospital but no one will tell him what’s going on so he asks if Maggie mentioned anything to him. Philip informs Xander that Sarah had an allergic reaction but she will be fine. Xander asks Philip to find out what room she’s in.

Sarah tells Brady that if Rachel did this, it had to be an accident. Brady wishes it was but says that Rachel admitted everything to him. Sarah doesn’t get it as she thought she and Rachel had a great relationship, so she questions why Rachel would try to hurt her. Brady says he only knows that Rachel is very troubled and he thought she was getting the help she needed in therapy as he never thought she would be capable of doing this to her or… Sarah asks what else Rachel did. Brady didn’t want to burden her with this but says she deserves to know. Brady then reveals that this is not the first time that his daughter almost killed someone. Sarah questions what he is talking about. Brady then informs Sarah that Rachel was the one who shot EJ. Brady clarifies that it was an accident but apparently she was so traumatized that she blocked it out of her memory, but when she saw what happened to Sarah, that memory came flooding back. Sarah starts to say it doesn’t make sense but then realizes that Kristen knew and went to prison to protect her daughter. Brady says that’s his theory but he can’t confirm it since Kristen apparently fell off the face of the earth. Brady knows there’s nothing Kristen wouldn’t do for her little girl, so he has to keep this under wraps. Brady says he asked Belle for advice and she’s going to try to resource options so maybe they can exonerate Kristen without having Rachel come forward. Brady tells Sarah that there is something he needs to ask of her even though it seems unfair. Brady says he really needs to know what Sarah is going to do now that she knows the truth. Sarah asks what he means. Brady responds that he wouldn’t blame her if she needed to report what Rachel did because she must be furious with her and with him for allowing this to happen.

Gabi asks Philip if he’s sure this is a good idea. Philip asks how else he can send Sarah flowers without asking Maggie for her room number. Gabi worries that Maggie will be pissed that he passed the information along to Xander. Philip jokes that it’s a good thing he has other plans for Thanksgiving then. Gabi calls him a good brother. Philip then gets a text back from Maggie that Sarah is in room #704. Roman sits with Steve and Kayla and asks if they are up for something different tonight because Kate’s been pushing him to start a trivia night at the Pub. Roman wants to test it out before making it a regular thing. Steve says he’s sorry but his game is poker not trivia and he promised Kayla a stress free night. Kayla argues that no stress doesn’t mean no fun while Steve argues that Kayla gets competitive at games. Kayla disagrees but Roman jokes that she’s always been a sore loser. Kayla says that’s because Roman would cheat and says they are in. Steve guesses so much for their relaxing dinner.

Julie questions Charlotte looking sad. Jennifer thinks she’s missing her dad. Thomas says that’s too bad because he’s not coming to Thanksgiving. Julie asks for a moment alone with Thomas so Jennifer takes Charlotte to the kitchen. Thomas asks if Julie is mad at him. Julie says no, but she is disappointed. Julie knows Thomas is angry at Chad, but questions if he really wants Chad to be alone on Thanksgiving. Thomas argues that he didn’t tell Chad he couldn’t come. Julie feels he made it clear that Chad wasn’t welcome. Julie asks Thomas to put their differences aside and invite Chad to Thanksgiving tomorrow. Jennifer comes back and agrees that it would be a really nice gesture. Thomas says as long as he doesn’t have to sit next to him.

Sarah tells Brady that finding out what Rachel did to her and EJ is very upsetting, but it doesn’t make her feel angry, it makes her feel sad for Rachel to be driven to do what she did. Sarah feels Rachel must have been in serious pain, but she knows Brady will do what he has to do to get her help and that’s all that matters. Sarah adds that she doesn’t blame Brady for any of this and calls him a wonderful dad, so she doesn’t want him to blame himself either. Brady feels it’s hard not to. Brady says for the longest time, Rachel just wanted her parents to get back together and be a family but he couldn’t make that happen for her. Sarah says he shouldn’t have to as he can’t live a lie and that’s not good for Rachel either. Brady says it’s not just that, but her mom is in prison and asks how much pain that causes Rachel. Sarah has faith that Rachel will come out the other side in this and encourages Brady to have faith too. Xander then opens the door and sees them together.

Roman tells Kayla and Steve that Philip and Gabi are on board along with a few others, so he thinks they have enough for trivia. Kayla is excited for it while Steve worries that it won’t go well for them against Philip. Kayla praises Steve as a former spy with street smarts and they have encyclopedic knowledge. Philip tells Gabi that they can back out if she wants because he guesses Pub trivia is not what she had in mind for their first date. Gabi says he’s wrong as she loves trivia. Philip admits that he does too.

Julie calls Chad and leaves a message, telling him that Charlotte is requesting his company tomorrow at Thanksgiving and they are all hoping he will make it. Charlotte calls out that she loves her dad while Thomas sits upset.

Sarah promises Brady it will be okay until they notice Xander. Xander says he came to visit Marlena but heard about Sarah’s allergic reaction. Sarah says it was pistachios again but Brady was there and saved her with the epi-pen. Xander says Brady has his and Victoria’s eternal gratitude, worrying that they could’ve lost her. Sarah says she’s still here and reminds Xander that he said he would stay away. Xander says he just had to find out she was okay and he’s so relieved that she is. Xander tells Sarah to take care of herself as he then exits. Brady tells Sarah that couldn’t have been easy. Sarah assures that it’s okay and says that Xander broke her heart but it has to be nothing compared to what Brady is going through. Sarah tells him that she will be there every step of the way for Rachel’s recovery.

Roman begins trivia night at the Brady Pub and goes over the rules. Roman points out that it’s a test run so they don’t have any buzzers or bells, but the first person to answer correctly gets the point and the winner will get their next dinner comped. Steve reminds Kayla to be gracious if they win. Kayla assures they will win. Roman announces the first category is fashion which excites Gabi. Roman asks the first question of which designer is famous for doing a cartwheel with the splits on the runway during her shows. Kayla correctly answers that it is Betsy Johnson. Gabi says she will get her next time. Roman then asks what is currently the largest military base in the world. Philip correctly answers that it is Fort Bragg. Roman asks what island nation is located in all four hemispheres which Steve correctly answers is Kiribati. Roman asks what famous playwright and short story writer was also a medical doctor which everyone gets wrong leaving Gabi and Philip to guess. Gabi has the right answer of Anton Chekhov but Philip gives an incorrect answer. Kayla jokes about her getting the fashion question while Gabi knew the medical doctor question. Roman announces there is a tie between Steve and Kayla against Gabi and Philip so the next right answer is the winner. Roman asks what term popularized in American English in the 19th century comes from the Dutch word to brag or boast. Steve correctly answers the word is bluff, winning the game. Philip calls out that they were a worthy opponent. Roman congratulates Steve and Kayla, joking that their dinners are generally on the house anyway while Kayla jokes that it’s better when you win it. Roman asks if they should make trivia night a permanent fixture at the Brady Pub. Kayla and Steve support it and Philip agrees, saying it would give a good reason for a rematch.

Brady isn’t sure they deserve Sarah’s kindness. Sarah insists, reminding him that she was in a dark place all those years ago when she found out that Rachel wasn’t her daughter. Sarah says when she ran off with her, Brady would’ve been justified in never wanting her to see her again but he treated her with compassion and empathy. Sarah says because of that, she healed and she wants that for Rachel too. Sarah adds that if finding out what she did contributed to pushing Rachel over the edge, but says she won’t blame herself since she told Brady not to. Brady tells Sarah not to feel any guilt for what happened when Rachel was a baby, reminding her that it was Xander who switched the babies and that’s why Sarah bonded with her. Sarah agrees that is when things started to go South for her and declares that Xander is pretty much responsible for everything that has gone wrong in her life.

Philip and Gabi sit together laughing in the town square as Xander approaches and asks what’s so funny. They tell him about being roped in to Pub trivia. Xander says he’s glad they both had fun. Philip asks if he ended up seeing Sarah. Xander confirms that he did and she seems fine with Brady by her side. Xander asks Philip if he’s free tomorrow as he thought they could have Thanksgiving at the Bistro. Philip says he would but he just made plans to spend it with Gabi and her family. Xander says he totally understands and tells him to have a great time. Gabi says there’s no reason he can’t join them. Xander says he just wanted to make sure Philip had somewhere to be tomorrow. Xander thanks them and tells them to have a lovely evening as he walks off. Steve and Kayla walk through, talking about how fun Pub trivia was. Steve suggests asking Stephanie and Alex to join them next time. Kayla imagines Stephanie will be too busy being a celebrated author, so she’s just happy they get her for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Steve asks if she’s lost the thrill of victory already. Kayla responds that she’s just sad that Joey and Tripp won’t be with them for Thanksgiving as it seems harder and harder to get their kids together all the time. Steve suggests taking her somewhere warm and tropical to cheer her up, like Kiribati which Kayla calls his bluff.

Jennifer tells Julie that she got the kids settled in their room and they joke about taking the quiet while they can get it. Jennifer comments on Thomas being a good big brother by letting Charlotte play his new video game and suggests it may have had to do with Julie’s chat she had with him. Julie brings out an old family photo album of past Thanksgivings and they go through it. Jennifer says there’s so many people who should still be there. Julie asks if Jennifer is upset that she asked Chad to come to Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Jennifer says of course not as she knows how close she is to Chad. Jennifer says just because she wants the kids to live with her and Jack in Boston doesn’t mean she wants to shut Chad completely out of their lives. Julie says she’s trying to keep her opinion to herself. Jennifer questions if she agrees with Jeremy then that her suing Chad for custody is a mistake. Julie repeats that she’s trying to keep her opinion to herself but Jennifer wants to know exactly what she thinks. Julie doesn’t doubt that she and Jack have the children’s best interest at heart, but she feels so much empathy for Chad because she knows what it’s like to be separated from your children and it’s devastating. Jennifer says she hates that Chad is in so much pain and that Julie did the right thing by inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner since he is still family. Jennifer claims the last thing she wants to do is make the holidays difficult for anybody, especially Julie. Julie thanks her. Jennifer tells her that she loves her so much. Julie responds that she loves her unconditionally forever as they hug.

Brady tells Sarah that Xander has caused her a lot of pain but there were good times when they made each other happy and she wouldn’t have Victoria if she hadn’t forgiven him. Sarah acknowledges that is true and she wouldn’t trade having her for anything in the world. Sarah says it’s just hard to reconcile that the person who gave her the greatest gift is now someone she can barely stand to look at. Brady says that he can relate because he and Kristen caused each other so much heartache but she gave him Rachel and in spite of everything, he wouldn’t trade that for the world. Brady apologizes for dumping all of this on her but Sarah says she’s glad he did and she’s happy he feels that he can trust her. Brady says she constantly gives him reasons why he can. Brady tells Sarah to get some sleep while he goes to see Marlena, the therapist, and Rachel. Sarah tells him to give Marlena her best and to tell Rachel that she forgives and loves her. Brady says he will gladly do that. Sarah promises Brady that everything is going to be okay as they hug.

Steve asks Kayla how that’s a bluff. Kayla says she appreciates the thought but they do not need to fly halfway around the globe for romance, especially since his knowledge of world geography was such a turn on right here in Salem. Steve asks how turned on she was as they kiss. Gabi tells Philip that she hopes it’s okay that she invited Xander. Philip says he thought it was really sweet. Philip then invites Gabi to his room for a night cap as they kiss. Xander then comes back through and stands alone as he sees Gabi and Philip kissing on one side and Steve and Kayla kissing on the other side.

Tony and Kristen remain locked up in the DiMera Crypt. Kristen wakes up and comments on it not just being a nightmare. Kristen wonders how long she was asleep. Tony complains that there’s no way to tell time so he doesn’t know how many days they’ve been locked up. Kristen remarks that it’s been too long.

Stephanie and Alex are at the Brady Pub. They talk about Alex feeling better as Alex guesses it was something he ate last night. They are waiting for Holly to arrive. Alex kisses Stephanie until Holly arrives, apologizing for being late. Alex then exits the Pub. Holly hopes Stephanie isn’t upset with her as it’s been one thing after another. Stephanie asks what’s going on. Holly reveals that Sarah is in the hospital after an allergic reaction. Stephanie says they can reschedule if she needs to. Holly says that Sarah will be fine but she feels so bad for her after her marriage fell apart and now this.

Arianna goes to see Tate and questions him studying over break, joking that Holly must be rubbing off on him. Tate says even with all the studying, he doesn’t know which Arianna questions. Tate agrees to tell her as long as Holly doesn’t know about it. Arianna agrees not to say anything and asks why Tate is studying over break and why he’s so bummed. Tate then reveals that if he doesn’t completely ace all of his finals, he’s going to flunk out of Salem U.

Chanel walks through the town square with Trey in his stroller and runs in to Aaron. Aaron mentions picking up donuts for a Friendsgiving at Tate’s which Chanel says sounds like fun. Aaron asks how Trey is. Chanel says he’s a little fussy today so she took him for an afternoon stroll to give Johnny time to grade his students’ projects in peace. Chanel asks if Aaron would like to hold Trey but he declines.

Brady joins Belle in Marlena’s hospital room and questions where Marlena is.

Chanel apologizes to Aaron for putting him on the spot. Aaron says it’s okay as he already held Trey but he doesn’t want to get too attached. Aaron says it’s good that he can see him since they all live in Salem. Chanel gets that it’s very hard for him and assures they are so grateful for what he did because if not for him, they wouldn’t have the baby to be grateful for this year, so she thanks him.

Stephanie tells Holly that she will be doing a little bit of everything as an intern including e-mails and editing social media videos. Stephanie asks if she’s sure she will be able to juggle all of this on top of her course work because she would hate for her grades to suffer. Holly promises that she excels at compartmentalizing and time management. Holly shows her what she has come up with so far. Stephanie says she’s seen enough and hires Holly.

Arianna questions Tate failing all of his classes. Tate clarifies that he’s doing okay in film and if he finishes some late assignments, he might be able to swing a low C in English. Arianna says that’s not the way to finish his first semester of college. Tate assures that he’s judging himself enough. Arianna asks how this happened. Tate guesses the whole situation with Sophia and the baby along with everything else happening got him distracted. Tate worries that Holly will be so disappointed in him. Arianna suggests asking Holly to help him but Tate insists that Holly can’t know or she’ll think he’s a loser. Arianna urges him to go to the tutor center but Tate feels that would be beyond pathetic. Arianna tells him that everyone makes mistakes. Arianna asks why he didn’t just ask her to help him with Spanish class. Tate says he was too proud so Arianna tells him to get over it.

Belle tells Brady that she tried calling him but it went straight to voicemail. Brady apologizes and says he was in the middle of something. Brady is surprised to learn that Marlena needs a pacemaker as he didn’t realize Lyme disease was that serious. Belle explains how it will stabilize Marlena’s heart rhythm and prevent things from getting worse. Belle says it feels pretty straightforward and that Marlena will be just fine. Brady guesses it’s good that she’s getting the diagnosis and treatment. Brady says he needed her advice on something but he obviously can’t burden her with it now. Belle suggests he burden her instead. Brady says he first needs to know if he’s talking to his little sister or the district attorney. Belle guesses that depends on what he’s going to tell her.

Aaron tells Chanel that he should get going and walks off. Alex then walks up and greets Chanel. Alex congratulates her on the baby. Chanel talks about Trey being fussy and says she’s hardly slept. Alex encourages that she’s glowing and that motherhood obviously suits her.

Kristen wonders how many days they’ve been locked up and notes that it will soon be Thanksgiving. Kristen brings up that Rachel will be worried sick about her. Tony remarks that Rachel will figure out that she’s better off without her. Tony brings up letting Rachel testify in court against her cousin when Kristen shot EJ. Kristen argues that she did what she had to do. Tony complains that Kristen sounds just like Stefano with no compassion in justifying her own heinous acts. Tony thought Kristen’s one redeeming quality was that she was a good mother but remarks that she’s obviously not.

Aaron joins Arianna and Tate. They talk about Aaron and Arianna both bringing pumpkin desserts. Tate blames studying on why he didn’t bring anything. Aaron tells Tate to put the books away while they are on school break. Holly then arrives with a pumpkin casserole and when they react to that, she questions if they don’t like pumpkin.

Brady informs Belle about Rachel intentionally giving Sarah pistachio ice cream, knowing she was allergic to it. Belle asks where Rachel is now. Brady tells her that she’s with her therapist, getting a full psychiatric work up which he’s not allowed to be apart of. Brady assures that Rachel had no idea that Sarah’s reaction would be this severe and she was sorry but it was too late. Brady says that Rachel had been crying out for help for months and he knew it, but he deluded himself into thinking that she was fine and getting the help she needed. Brady declares that he now doesn’t know what to do or how to handle this, but he knows he needs Belle to help his daughter.

Holly jokes that since they all brought pumpkin desserts, they can just make it a pumpkin themed Friendsgiving. Tate asks Holly how her job interview went. Holly reveals that Stephanie actually hired her on the spot which excites them. Holly asks what’s new with them. Aaron says he doesn’t want to be a downer but he and Arianna went to Bayview to visit Sophia.

Belle is glad that Rachel had a change of heart at the last minute and showed remorse. Belle notes that Sarah was injured as a result of Rachel’s actions but she doesn’t think Sarah will press charges since she’s a friend and Rachel is just a little girl. Belle asks if there’s something else. Brady confirms that there is. Brady informs Belle that when Rachel saw Sarah go in to shock, it triggered a memory for her. Brady then reveals to Belle that Kristen didn’t shoot EJ, Rachel did.

Stephanie joins Alex and Chanel in the town square. Stephanie invites Chanel to join her and Alex as they go get drinks. Chanel declines but Stephanie convinces her that it’s best to do while the baby is sleeping so Chanel agrees to join them.

Kristen complains that Tony is judging her and attacking her when he has no idea what went down between her and Rachel. Kristen says Rachel is the most important person in her life and all she wants is for her to be safe and happy. Kristen argues that she is a damn good mother and demands that Tony never insult her like that again. Tony apologizes for judging and attacking but says he can see by her reaction why Andre was so drawn to her and that they were cut from the same cloth. Kristen tells him not to compare her to Andre, who was a sadistic maniac that she married because Stefano thought it would make her a better DiMera. Kristen declares that she’d rather spend her time more productively and asks what Tony would suggest they do.

Belle questions Brady revealing to her that Rachel told him that she remembered shooting EJ. Brady explains that Rachel told him that she saw the gun on the table, picked it up, and pointed it at EJ because she wanted to know where her Grandmother was. Brady says Rachel didn’t know what she was doing and that it was an accident.

Alex and Stephanie sit with Chanel having drinks in the town square. Stephanie asks Chanel about the exciting life of being new parents. Chanel says they were warned that they wouldn’t get much sleep which has been true because the baby wakes up every 2-3 hours. Chanel assures that she loves her baby but a good night’s sleep is a thing of the past. Alex encourages that Trey probably just has to adjust after being with the Hernandez family for so long. Chanel agrees and says they don’t have time for much else, but jokes that they definitely fit in some romance. Alex acknowledges that Chanel and Johnny seem very happy. Chanel says that nothing prepares you for what it’s really like and calls it the hardest experience she’s ever loved. Chanel tells Alex and Stephanie that having a baby changes your life forever as Stephanie takes a big drink from her glass.

Tate asks if Sophia was any better. Arianna says she wasn’t. Aaron says when he told Sophia that their baby was adopted, she didn’t even blink. Aaron adds that he didn’t tell her it was Johnny and Chanel as he didn’t think she could handle that. Aaron admits it was heartbreaking to see Sophia like that and suggests it might cheer her up if Tate went to go see her.

Brady explains to Belle that Rachel was so traumatized by what she had done that her subconscious buried the memory. Brady asks what they are going to do.

Stephanie gets Trey back to sleep which impresses Chanel and Alex. Chanel talks up Stephanie and Alex as potential babysitters which Stephanie says she would love as you get to take care of the baby and then give him back at the end of the night which Alex seems to take notice of.

Arianna takes Aaron to the kitchen to allow Tate and Holly to talk. Tate asks if Holly would be okay with him visiting Sophia. Holly says as long as he doesn’t expect her to go with him. Tate says he would never expect that or for her to forgive Sophia either and he doesn’t know if he would ever forgive her. Tate declares that if seeing him could potentially break Sophia out of the state she’s in, he feels like he has to try. Holly gets it and tells him to do what he feels like he has to.

Belle responds to Brady that what she does next will depend on a few variables. Brady doesn’t even know how this could be happening. Belle says that Rachel is a child who needs help and is getting it. Brady argues that she could’ve killed two people and questions how he missed this. Belle says they want to believe their kids aren’t struggling so they try to persuade themselves that they are fine. Belle says that she and Shawn tried to convince themselves that Claire was okay too. Brady tries to argue that Claire was older but Belle says it likely started when she was younger and they just missed it. Belle encourages that Rachel will get through this with a loving and supportive family. Brady asks Belle what she means by what she does depends on variables. Belle asks if Brady is certain that Rachel’s memory is legitimate since Kristen confessed an open court. Brady confirms that the therapist said Rachel’s memory was real. Belle questions why Kristen would confess then. Brady flashes back to Kristen telling him that the whole reason she was doing it was for Rachel. Brady then realizes that Kristen took the fall for their daughter to protect her.

Kristen tells Tony that her money is still on EJ as she questions who else could pull off something so diabolical and brilliantly orchestrated. Tony suggests it could perhaps be Vivian Alamain herself.

Arianna and Aaron come back from the kitchen as Arianna announces she found a frozen pizza for them and put it in the oven. Tate says he thinks that was Belle’s but they decide she won’t mind. Aaron jokes that they deserve it after a brutal semester. Arianna says it wasn’t for Holly, who will be on the Dean’s list. Holly says who cares as they are all trying their best. Holly changes the subject and suggests they have a movie marathon after eating.

Brady worries about how angry he got with Kristen for letting Rachel testify during Johnny’s trial when it turns out that Kristen didn’t shoot EJ and just made a giant sacrifice for their daughter. Belle remains uncertain and questions how Kristen knew if it was still buried in Rachel’s subconscious and EJ still claims not to remember who shot him. Brady doesn’t know and suggests maybe Kristen walked in on it. Belle guesses they won’t know until they talk to Kristen but nobody seems to know where she is. Brady says he’s certain about one thing and that’s that Kristen believed she was protecting Rachel when she allowed herself to be hauled to prison for attempted murder.

Chanel and Stephanie joke with Alex about being a natural with baby Trey. Chanel tells Alex and Stephanie that they will make great parents one day.

Aaron, Tate, Holly, and Arianna discuss what movie to watch. Holly suggests My Big Fat Greek Wedding but Aaron is against romantic comedy. Arianna suggests Downtown Abbey but they disagree. Tate decides on Pitch Black..

Belle tells Brady that she isn’t required to file new charges immediately but the situation will eventually have to be decided in court since Kristen was sent to prison for a crime she didn’t commit. Belle adds that Rachel being a minor does give them some leeway but she can’t make any promises. Brady says he understands and he’s going to check in with Rachel and her therapist, so he exits the room.

Kristen agrees with Tony that Vivian is a possibility, but points out that she doesn’t typically leave food and water for those that she buries alive if she wanted them dead. Kristen says they need to get in to the mind of their abductor and what their endgame is, questioning if they really plan to keep them here forever. Kristen believes someone would eventually discover them. Tony asks when she last visited the crypt. Kristen admits she doesn’t remember. Tony says for him it was several years ago, so unless a DiMera dies and is brought to the crypt, he would say the chance of them being discovered is slim to none.

Tate proposes a toast to Vin Diesel for making the movie Pitch Black and to the almost end of a crazy, intense, and romantic first semester of college and a wilder year in Salem. Arianna toasts to friendship.

Chanel tells Alex and Stephanie that this has been great and she should get Trey home. They wish each other a happy Thanksgiving as Chanel then leaves with Trey. Stephanie comments that Chanel will be such a good mom and already is. Alex agrees and asks if Stephanie meant what she said about the greatest part of babysitting being back when she hands the baby back to the parents. Stephanie responds that it is an questions Alex’s reaction to it. Alex feels the way she said it made it sound like she doesn’t want to be a mom. Stephanie assures that she does someday but hearing how much Chanel’s life has changed made her realize it’s not something she wants anytime soon. Stephanie says she wants to give all of her focus to her writing career taking off. Alex says he gets that, so Stephanie questions why he looks disappointed and if he wants kids right away. Alex says he hadn’t given it that much thought. Stephanie says they don’t have to talk about it right now and can just table it for now which Alex agrees to do.

Brady returns to Belle and tells her that Rachel is still under observation as the therapist believes she needs in-patient treatment and wants to keep her here until a bed opens up at Bayview. Brady guesses he shouldn’t be surprised and cries that he feels like he failed his little girl. Belle encourages that he’s a great dad and that Rachel will get better just like Claire did. Brady hopes she is right.

Kristen tells Tony that she hit on something solid in the ground and calls for Tony to help her.
