Johnny told Chanel that they could go back to the mansion. EJ lost his wine collection, and he would have to restock it. They reminisced about their Italian wedding. One thing led to another, and they started kissing. Chanel put the brakes on because she needed her rest for her scenes with Alex. Bonnie was excited to work with Alex on Body & Soul. She hoped that Justin worked out a good deal for him the way she did with her. Alex told her that the show was on a tight budget. Justin told Kate about Bonnie’s negotiations. Kate warned him that Bonnie had to accept the original terms, or they would find a new actress for the role of Cassandra. Hattie went to Leo’s place with a lot of scripts. She told him that Bonnie was in too many scenes and wanted them rewritten. Leo wanted to make her happy, but he couldn’t rewrite the scripts without approval. Hattie let him know that Bonnie was rewriting her scripts. She insisted that he make the changes so the show would be a hit. He couldn’t promise anything. Bonnie started rehearsing and changed some of the lines. Alex thought she was great. He was worried about doing his scenes with Chanel. Bonnie advised him to channel the tension into the scenes. Justin arrived and told Bonnie that Kate wouldn’t budge from the original deal. She was disappointed, but she couldn’t walk away from the role. Hattie arrived at the town square with changes to the script that make Cassandra look bad. Bonnie demanded to know who made the changes. Hattie finally admitted that Leo made the changes. Bonnie yelled at Leo. The actors got an alert about a photo shoot. They were about to leave when Leo stopped Hattie. He couldn’t believe she threw him under the bus with Bonnie. She dismissed his concerns because it was show business and writers get the blame for things.

Johnny and Chanel talked about things working out after what happened with Alex and Allie. They received last minute emails about a script changed. Johnny and Chanel found out that her character and Alex’s character have sex. Their characters weren’t supposed to be together for months. She couldn’t believe her character had to have sex with Alex’s character so soon. Johnny couldn’t believe he had to direct their love scenes. Chanel received a message about a photo shoot. Eric got ready for the photo shoot. Hattie and Bonnie arrived. Bonnie wanted to talk to Kate about Leo’s rewrites, but Hattie said they needed to get ready for the photo shoot. When they returned to the set, they found out they were wearing the same outfit. They argued over who should change their clothes. The argument turned into a physical fight. Johnny went to see Leo. He wanted him to rewrite Chanel and Alex’s love scenes because they were happening too soon. Leo refused to do that. He started to relax when Bonnie pounded on Leo’s door demanding he rewrite the script, or she would quit. Hattie found Abe and told him that Bonnie had to quit, or she would. Chanel posed in a sexy baby doll dress. Alex showed up wearing a black leather jacket without a shirt on. They made a stiff pose when Eric stepped in. He told them what to do to make the photo work. Eric told them to stare into each other’s eyes, and Kate wanted her to touch Alex’s chest. Johnny walked in the room and saw their closeness.

EJ sat by Gabi’s side at the hospital. He thought she needed rest, but she didn’t want him to leave. Gabi couldn’t believe that Connie tried to kill her. She thought Connie would have pulled her plan off if it weren’t for him. Gabi wondered how EJ knew they were in the tunnels. He said he got lucky. EJ spotted blood on the fireplace poker and saw the door open. She was grateful he did and hugged him. Gabi apologized for getting emotional. EJ thought she was allowed after what she went through. She admitted that she thought about Arianna in that time. Gabi was afraid she would never see her daughter again. EJ asked her if she wanted him to call Will and Sonny to tell them what happened. She wanted to make the call when she felt stronger. EJ told her about his conversation with Stefan. He let her know that Stefan thought they had sex that morning. EJ left Stefan hanging, but he couldn’t rock the boat too much since he has him over a barrel. Gabi informed him that Stefan planned to get revenge. She wanted to know what he did. EJ explained what happened to her about Nicole’s kidnapping, and Paulina wanting to fire him. Gabi decided to tell Stefan that they didn’t have sex the second time to see if it would help. She owed him that much. Ava let Stefan know there was an APB out for Connie. While she bandaged him up, she acknowledged how he saved her life. She would never forget that he put his life on the line for her. He was there to apologize for what he said earlier. She was willing to forgive him after what he did for her. Ava wanted him to go to the hospital to get checked out.

Connie tried to sneak out of the pub, but Jada was behind her. She put her gun on Connie and demanded her to drop the knife. Connie dropped the knife, and Jada placed her under arrest. She wondered how Jada found her. Jada told her that she traced Gabi’s phone. She told her that Gabi and Melinda were still alive. Jada bagged up the knife and wondered whose blood was on it. Stefan and Ava showed up, and he said the blood was his. They talked to her about what happened with Connie. Jada told them she would need their statements. She wanted to take Connie to the station. Later, Jada brought Connie to the station. She saw Li’s cardboard cutout. Connie wondered why Li was at the station. She wondered if he was getting arrested too. Jada sarcastically told her that cutouts couldn’t get arrested. He was evidence. Connie didn’t think she did anything wrong. Jada recited what she did wrong. Gabi wondered if there was any news on Connie. EJ stepped into the hall to make calls when Stefan and Ava arrived at the hospital. He asked Stefan what happened to him. Stefan told him what happened. EJ told him that Connie tried to kill Gabi and Melinda too. Stefan rushed to Gabi’s room. EJ realized he was still in love with Gabi. He told Ava what Connie did. Ava wondered if Melinda was at the hospital too. She owed her an apology. Stefan rushed to Gabi’s side. He was grateful she was okay. They hugged until Stefan backed up. He wanted to know how badly she was hurt. She was okay except for some cuts and bruises. He apologized for not being there for her. Stefan wished he knew what Connie was up to, but she told him nobody knew about it. She told him that Connie killed Li and framed her for it. Gabi wanted to know what happened to his arm. He told her about the events at the pub. Stefan explained that he was only there to apologize for what happened at the Bistro. Gabi got upset when she realized he hired Ava to work at the Bistro. She didn’t understand why he would apologize to her. He told her about what happened with EJ and that he didn’t deny that they slept together. Stefan admitted that he wanted to even the score by sleeping with Ava. Gabi got upset with him, but he said she slept with his brother twice. She admitted that it was only once. Gabi lied about sleeping with EJ again. Stefan said she didn’t want to make their marriage work. Gabi told him that she still didn’t want to make it work and wanted him to get out of her room. Stefan walked out of the room.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Chanel meets Johnny at the Bistro. Johnny talks about his production meetings while Chanel talks about learning her lines and says she thought they’d be working together more. Johnny assures that will all change when they start taping tomorrow and he’s so excited to direct her. Johnny jokes about hoping she doesn’t turn in to a total diva.

EJ remains at the hospital with Gabi and says she needs to rest so he should go, but Gabi asks him to stay because she doesn’t want to be alone right now. EJ agrees to stay as long as she needs. Gabi talks about having an assistant that she thought was such a big help, but she wanted to kill her and she would’ve succeeded if EJ hadn’t taken her out of the rubble. Gabi asks how EJ even knew they were in the tunnels. EJ calls it sheer luck as he just happened to notice the blood on the fireplace poker and then he saw the door to the tunnels was open. Gabi is thankful that he did as EJ hugs her.

Ava tells Stefan that there’s an APB out on Connie so the police are on it. Stefan calls her a complete lunatic while Ava calls her a homicidal maniac. Stefan wonders what other crimes she committed. Ava worries about Stefan’s wound but Stefan doesn’t want her to fuss over him. Ava jokes that she doesn’t want him to bleed all over her room, then says it’s the least she could do since he saved her life. Stefan thinks she might be exaggerating but Ava says she saw the look in Connie’s eye and she was definitely going to slit her throat if Stefan didn’t get her angry at him instead. Stefan jokes that he has a knack for pissing women off, especially psychotic ones. Ava tells him to stop downplaying what he did and calls him heroic. Ava admits that he’s also a little stupid since he could’ve got himself killed, but he put his life on the line for her and she’ll never forget that.

Connie exits the Brady Pub where she is caught by Jada, who orders her to drop her knife or she’ll shoot. Jada warns Connie repeatedly to drop the knife, so she does. Jada then handcuffs Connie and informs her that she’s under arrest. Jada reads her rights. Connie questions how she found her. Jada reveals that Melina told her that she had Gabi’s phone which she tracked. Connie questions how Melinda told her. Jada informs her that the bomb didn’t work as Gabi and Melinda are still alive.

Gabi apologizes to EJ for getting so emotional. EJ understands since she nearly died. Gabi says when she was sure it was all over, she kept seeing her daughter Arianna’s face in her mind and it was frightening to think she would never see her again. EJ asks if she’d like him to call Will and Sonny to tell them what happened but Gabi says no as she will talk to them herself when she’s feeling stronger. Gabi mentions missing Arianna so much and wishes they didn’t live so far apart. EJ hopes one day that will change. EJ asks if there’s anything else he can do for her. Gabi says no and thanks him as he’s done so much for her already. Gabi tells EJ that she owes him her life.

Ava finishes wrapping Stefan’s arm wound. Stefan says he’s kind of glad this all went down because he initially came to apologize to her again for being a complete ass by suggesting they sleep together again to even the score with Gabi. Stefan admits it was disrespectful to her and he’s sorry. Ava says he should be. Stefan assures that he is but says she should be forgiving and accept his apology so they can move on from all of this. Stefan thinks that’s the least she can do for him rescuing her from certain death. Ava supposes she can forgive him for being a jerk under the condition that he lets her take him to the hospital to get checked out with no arguments. Stefan reluctantly agrees to go, so they exit together.

Chanel tells Johnny that after tomorrow, they will be crazy busy with work. Johnny says they have to produce a whole episode in one day. Chanel calls this their last chance to have a nice dinner for a long time. Johnny suggests they make the most of tonight and order a bottle of champagne. Johnny praises her talents while Chanel hopes she lives up to his expectations. Johnny surprises her with a gift of a gold necklace. Johnny assures that when Body and Soul airs, she’s going to become a huge star as he kisses her. Chanel calls this wonderful to celebrate the start of both of their careers. Johnny calls it a dream come true. Chanel mentions that it’s also nice to be out of the warzone at home. Johnny jokes that at least the duct tape is gone. Chanel calls it insane that Gabi tried to divide the house like that. Chanel admits she feels bad for Gabi and Stefan. Chanel acknowledges that Stefan was in the wrong by sleeping with Ava, but points out that he apologized and definitely seems to regret it so she hopes they can get past this. Johnny doesn’t think that’s possible anymore so Chanel asks what happened. Johnny says he wasn’t going to say anything but reveals that Gabi had revenge sex with EJ.

EJ tells Gabi that he’s just glad he was in the right place at the right time, calling it sheer luck that he was able to save her life. Gabi says to her, he was heroic. EJ is sure it’s the least of her worries right now, but he needs to give her a heads up about Stefan. Gabi asks what now. EJ informs her that he had a run in with Stefan this morning and he wanted to know if they had sex again, so he told him that they didn’t but he also said Gabi wasn’t lying. Gabi says that makes zero sense. EJ admits he was caught off guard and flustered, so on the one hand he didn’t want to throw Gabi under the bus but he didn’t want to further provoke Stefan as he already has him in quite the bind. Gabi remembers Stefan alluding to some kind of payback. Gabi asks what he meant by that and what he did to EJ.

Paulina goes to the hospital and checks on Melinda in her hospital room. Melinda says she just feels lucky that she’s still here. Paulina mentions visiting the crime scene and seeing the room where she was held hostage. Paulina returns her purse to her from Connie’s room. Melinda thanks her but says she didn’t have to come all the way here to return it. Paulina says she wanted to see how she was doing. Melinda is surprised she would care since they aren’t buddies. Paulina admits that she always felt bad about firing her as district attorney. Melinda asks why she did then. Paulina informs her that EJ strong-armed her in to it.

EJ tells Gabi that Stefan plans to testify against him that he knew about Sloan stealing Nicole’s baby and that he kept quiet about it. Gabi asks if that’s enough to put him in prison. EJ says probably not, but it is enough for Paulina to fire him, though he thinks he’s convinced Stefan to back off for now. Gabi suggests maybe she can get Stefan to let it go if she admits she lied about her and EJ sleeping together again. EJ asks if she’s sure she wants to do that. Gabi responds that EJ saved her life, so she kind of owes him one.

Jada asks Connie who’s blood is on the knife. Ava and Stefan then come out from the Brady Pub, so Stefan explains the blood is his as he showed up at the door while Connie was trying to slash Ava’s throat. Ava says thankfully Stefan showed up when he did, but Connie managed to injure him by slashing his arm and then running off. Stefan is glad that she didn’t get too far. Connie shouts that she would’ve gotten further if he wasn’t in stupid hero mode. Jada says she’ll need statements from Ava and Stefan. Ava says she’s taking him to the hospital to get checked out, but they will be in later. Jada agrees and says in the meantime, she will be taking Connie to the police station as they walk off.

Chanel comments to Johnny that Gabi must have gone full savage mode and asks how Johnny found out. Johnny explains that he walked in on EJ and Stefan arguing about it. Johnny thinks Gabi only slept with EJ to rub it in Stefan’s face. Chanel calls that vindictive of Gabi but guesses she can kind of get why she did it. Chanel asks if EJ really hates Stefan that much. Johnny thinks it’s probably more about EJ being a mess since his marriage to Nicole blew up and now he’s got the divorce papers. Chanel still questions taking all of that out on his brother and worries that he may have started an all out war.

Gabi asks EJ if there’s any word on Connie yet as she hates the idea of her still being out there. EJ says he hasn’t heard anything but he can go see what he can find out, though she said she wanted him to say. Gabi decides it’s okay as she does need to rest. EJ says he’ll be back soon and tells Gabi to get some rest.

Jada brings Connie to the police station and sits her down at her desk. Connie gets excited upon seeing the cardboard cutout of Li and talks to him as if he’s real. Jada informs her that she took it from her apartment as evidence. Connie argues that they have it all wrong as Li is innocent.

Melinda tells Paulina that it wouldn’t take a detective to figure out that EJ used underhanded means to get his old job back, but she’s still curious as to what exactly he did. Paulina explains that EJ invented a bogus organization to vilify her to oust her as Mayor. Paulina admits she thought he would succeed and she hated it, but she agreed to hire him back. Paulina then informs Melinda that she recently found a new reason to fire EJ which she intends to do. Melinda asks if he’ll just try to get her recalled again. Paulina says that never stopped her before and she’s so done with EJ that she’s willing to try. Paulina then asks Melinda if she wants her old job back.

EJ is on the phone at the hospital as Stefan and Ava arrive. EJ asks what happened to Stefan. Stefan informs him that he was attacked by Connie. EJ then reveals to them that Connie just tried to kill Melinda and Gabi by tying them up in the tunnels and setting off a bomb. Stefan asks if Gabi is okay. EJ confirms he was able to get her out and bring her to the hospital. EJ notes that she suffered some minor injuries but is okay. Stefan then rushes off to Gabi’s room so EJ remarks that he guesses he’s still hung up on his wife.

Stefan enters Gabi’s room and says he just heard what happened. Stefan is thankful that she’s okay as he hugs her.

Johnny suggests to Chanel that they no longer talk about his dysfunctional family as he’d much rather focus on her. Johnny asks if she’s nervous to shoot her first scenes tomorrow. Chanel admits she is as she wants to do well and make him proud. Johnny assures that he’s already proud of her and he knows she’s going to do great. Chanel worries about remembering her lines. Johnny offers to run line with her if she wants. Chanel thanks him but says she spent all night running them with herself. Chanel thinks she’s good but she’s a little nervous about the tango scene in episode four. Johnny reveals he happens to be an expert tango dancer as EJ taught he and his mom awhile back, and Sami actually won a dance competition in Salem years ago. Johnny offers to show her some of the basics which Chanel accepts.

Melinda tells Paulina that she knows she missed a lot while held hostage, but points out that Johnny and Chanel are still married which makes Paulina and EJ in-laws, so she thinks that will make it awkward when she fires him. Paulina repeats that it never stopped her before and she will deal with any fallout. Paulina urges Melinda to just say yes. Melinda says she appreciate the offer but she doesn’t want to be a pawn in the power struggle between her and EJ. Melinda adds that EJ basically saved her life by showing up to put out the fire. Paulina thinks she’s giving him too much credit and jokes that EJ was probably just trying to save his vintage wine collection. Melinda reveals that she actually really likes working at DiMera Enterprises which shocks Paulina. Paulina asks if she doesn’t miss the thrill of the court room and she’s happy looking at boring contracts. Melinda knows it sounds crazy but she thinks her paycheck is enough of a thrill for her and almost makes her forget she’s working for Kristen DiMera. Paulina guesses it must be huge as Melinda says nothing can change her mind. Melinda notes that she is worried about how much work she has to catch up on since she missed a lot while tied to the bed. Paulina jokes that at least she had company in the cardboard cutout of Li Shin.

Connie pleads with Jada to release the cardboard cutout of Li, arguing that they’ve done nothing wrong. Jada brings up that Connie took the lives of Li Shin and Everett Lynch, questioning if she doesn’t consider that wrong. Jada brings up the attempted murders of Rafe, Gabi, Melinda, Ava, and Stefan. Connie claims none of that is true and she didn’t do any of that, while Li is fine and standing there. Connie shouts to the cardboard Li that she will take care of anything while Jada drags her in to the interrogation room.

Ava informs EJ that Connie is in custody as Jada caught her right after she tried to kill her and Stefan in her room. EJ questions Stefan being in Ava’s room. Ava explains that he came by to talk and it’s good that he did because he saved her life. EJ calls that interesting as it seems they have been nearly inseparable these days. Ava says that he is her friend and they’ve been through a lot together. EJ points out that includes a night of passion. Ava calls that a big mistake and tells EJ to stop looking at her like that, insisting nothing is going on between her and Stefan except friendship. EJ says if she says so.

Stefan asks Gabi how badly she’s hurt. Gabi says it’s nothing serious, just a slight concussion and just some scratches but she’s okay. Stefan is sorry that he wasn’t there for her and wishes he knew what Connie was up to. Gabi informs Stefan that Connie is the one who killed Li and framed her for his murder which shocks Stefan. Stefan asks why she killed Li. Gabi explains that she was obsessed with Li and blamed her and Melinda for Li not returning her feelings, so she wanted to be her assistant for revenge. Gabi adds that Connie wanted to destroy her marriage by telling her that Stefan and Ava slept together, then encouraging her to sleep with someone else. Gabi admits that she didn’t have to listen so she can’t blame her for that. Gabi then asks what happened to Stefan’s arm. Stefan reveals that she and Melinda weren’t the only ones that Connie tried to kill as she came after he and Ava too. Gabi questions where this happened, forcing Stefan to admit that he was in Ava’s room.

Johnny and Chanel finish a dance at the Bistro to an applause from the crowd. Johnny praises her as a fast learner. Chanel says they will have to go dancing more often. Chanel says she hates for this romantic night to end but they both have really early mornings. Johnny worries that the DiMera Mansion is still a combat zone.

Paulina finishes a call and says she’ll be right there. Paulina then informs Melinda that Connie is in police custody which relieves her. Paulina says she will have to get to the police station to get a full report, but before she goes, she invites Melinda to have lunch sometime. Melinda says she would like that and if she makes sure that Connie gets what she deserves, lunch is on her. Paulina then exits the room as Melinda holds back tears.

Jada tells Connie that they have her dead to rights, so she might as well sign the confession to score her points when it comes to her sentencing. Connie says nice try but she’s not signing or saying anything until she gets a lawyer. Jada advises her to cooperate on the case in any way she can, because they are throwing the book at her. Connie tells her that intimidating her isn’t going to work. Jada argues that she’s trying to get her locked up for the rest of her miserable life. Jada brings up that Connie killed her ex-husband and tried to kill her boyfriend. Connie argues that she never would’ve gone after Rafe if it wasn’t for Bobby which Jada questions. Connie explains that Bobby was upset that she stabbed Rafe, but she told him that she would get Rafe out of the picture in exchange for Bobby’s silence, so she doesn’t know what else he thought she meant. Jada realizes that Bobby really was innocent and just one of Connie’s victims. Jada complains that Bobby was mentally ill and Connie killed him, then framed him for Rafe’s stabbing. Connie argues that she didn’t say any of that so she can’t use that against her. Jada says she can but Connie questions her not using what Brady Black said, so confessions don’t mean much around her. Jada tells Connie to just keep talking because they already built an airtight case against her. Jada declares that Connie is going to pay for all of the horrifying things she’s done.

EJ informs Ava that Connie is the one who killed Li, stabbed Rafe, and killed Everett. EJ adds that Connie was holding Melinda hostage in her apartment which shocks Ava. Ava asks if Melinda is there since she needs to speak to her. EJ didn’t know they were friends. Ava says they aren’t, but she owes her an apology.

Stefan tells Gabi that it’s not what she thinks as he went to Ava’s to apologize. Gabi questions for what. Stefan says it all started when EJ showed up at the Bistro and he had just hired Ava back which Gabi questions. Stefan explains that Ava needed a job and Gabi was responsible for that by firing her for DiMera. Gabi asks if he’s seriously blaming her. Gabi asks why he would need to apologize to Ava if he just gave her a job. Stefan explains that EJ riled him up and wouldn’t confirm that they slept together a second time, but when he didn’t deny it, he assumed it was true. Stefan admits he’s not proud of this, but he asked Ava to help him even the score by propositioning her to sleep with him a second time. Gabi calls him a son of a bitch.

Chanel and Johnny go home to the DiMera Mansion where they find out that there was an explosion in the tunnels as someone set off a bomb. Chanel hopes no one was hurt. Johnny says EJ will have to fill them in.

Paulina goes to the police station where Jada informs her that Connie is in the interrogation room, asking for a lawyer. Paulina insists there is no way Connie gets out of this and will spend the rest of her life behind bars. Jada doesn’t think so which Connie questions. Paulina argues that she’s obviously guilty. Jada explains that she doesn’t think Connie will be headed to Statesville prison but will be heading straight to Bayview.

Connie remains in the interrogation room and imagines Li coming to visit her. Connie insists that she will get them both out of this as her imagination of Li praises everything about her. Connie imagines kissing Li and calls him her heart, soul, and only reason for living as she asks him to never leave her.

Ava goes to see Melinda in her hospital room. Melinda mentions Paulina telling her that Connie was arrested. Ava says she’s so sorry for what that monster put her through and blames herself. Ava says she knew Melinda was on her way to fire Connie and she should’ve known something was up when Connie remained working for Gabi, especially after being told that Melinda took a leave of absence. Ava guesses she was too caught up in her own drama. Melinda mentions Connie telling her about Ava sleeping with Stefan. Melinda jokes that Ava could’ve answered her phone when she called while they compare what Connie did to them.

Johnny calls EJ and asks if he’s okay. EJ assures that he’s fine. Johnny brings up that he and Chanel had a run-in with Connie before and they thought she was odd, but not psychotic or homicidal. Johnny questions why Connie set a bomb off in their house. EJ calls it a long story but she held Melinda hostage, grabbed Gabi too, tied them up in the tunnels and set off the bomb. EJ mentions that Melinda was relatively unscathed while Gabi suffered some minor injuries. Johnny asks if Gabi is alright. EJ responds that Stefan is in with her at the moment but she’s going to be fine.

Stefan knows using Ava to get back at Gabi was wrong but she doesn’t get to be wrong about that since she slept with EJ twice. Gabi admits it was only once and that she lied about sleeping with him a second time. Stefan asks how the hell he was supposed to know that. Gabi suggests he should’ve known her well enough to know when she’s making something up to get under his skin. Gabi asks if he really thought sleeping with Ava would help things. Stefan says he didn’t but she made it clear that she didn’t want to work on their marriage. Gabi says she still doesn’t and yells at Stefan to get the hell out. Stefan then exits while Gabi angrily throws the water from her end table.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Honestly, I can’t even believe the house is still standing. Yeah, everyone’s OK. That’s– that’s the most important thing. Yeah, and tell Gabi that I hope she feels better soon. Thank you. I love you, too, Dad.

[phone beeps]

How’s he doing?

Amazingly, my dad wasn’t hurt. Gabi did sustain a few minor injuries, but she’s gonna be OK.

Well, thank God for that. And that Connie lady, she deserves to be in a straightjacket in a padded room.

Definitely. Fortunately, the damage to this room was minimal.

Well, on the surface, yeah. But are we really OK to be, like, standing here?

I mean, the fire chief said they did a thorough inspection and that the house is habitable. But–

But what?

Well, we might have to do some restocking of the wine cellar. Unfortunately, my dad’s vintage Chateau Margaux was lost.

Yeah, well, I would be happy to help with that, but you know, I am more of a $ to $ bottle of wine type of gal.

You know, I beg to differ. You see, do you remember that restaurant we ate at in Italy? La Pergola I think it was called.

Mm-hmm. On the night that we got married the first time?

Yes. And if you recall the number on the check that the waiter dropped due to those very expensive bottles of wine that you ordered?

OK, yeah, well, that was a special occasion.

Every occasion is special with you.

[tender music]

Well, I am just so happy that we do not have to move out. Because this girl right here, she can use some rest, especially since tomorrow I am shooting my first scenes with Alex.

Isn’t this exciting?

[laughs] Here we are, mother and stepson, and we’re shooting on the same show, and you’re playing my son.

Yeah.

I mean, come on. We’re like one of those old Hollywood families, like the Barrymores, or the Fondas, or the whatevers.

[laughs]

Hm.

And, you know, it’s kind of funny. You are in my fake life playing my real son and in my real life playing my fake son.

Fake son?

Oh, no, no, no. That’s a bad choice of words. Well, though, you’re not really my real son, though. Come on, stop it. You know what I mean.

I do. I do. And I admit it’s a little strange that you’re playing my mom, for sure.

Right.

Let’s just hope that life doesn’t imitate art and your house falls through a sinkhole like the Lovegood mansion did in “Body & Soul.”

[chuckles] Sinkhole, shminkhole, it’s all drama, baby.

Yeah.

And since, actually, we’re gonna be working so hard on bringing these characters to life, I certainly hope your father is negotiating your contract, too.

Too?

Oh, yeah.

He’s negotiating yours?

Well, of course, he is. You know, the studio, AKA Kate Brady, was trying to lowball me, but my wonderful Justin is making sure that I get every penny I’m worth.

[relaxed music]

Well?

One moment, please.

Of course. So just to summarize, Bonnie is simply asking for an additional one week vacation and to increase her rate to % over scale, which I think is a very reasonable counterproposal given her talent, her work ethic, and most importantly, her breadth of life experience.

[soft dramatic music]

So do we have a deal?

Who is it? – It’s Abe Carver.

Ah. Abe!

Well, hello, Stephanie. Is this a bad time?

Not at all. Come in.

Oh, thank you. Thank you.

Yes. I was just working on the “Body & Soul” press release, announcing our first day of shooting tomorrow. Would you like to see the first draft?

Oh, no, I’m sure it’s perfectly fine. You know, I came by because I wanted to talk about something else, something that has to be done tonight.

Yes. Yes. Perfect. God, I love these characters. They are complex, intelligent, wise beyond their years, witty and urbane, all thanks to me, and most importantly, their love transcends all of the mishegoss that is trying to tear them apart. Mishegoss? No, that’s too New York. Producers won’t get it. Their love transcends all of the obstacles that are conspiring to keep them apart. Eat your heart out, Willy Shakes. You may have coined the term star-crossed lovers for those forlorn teenyboppers Romeo and Juliet, but I have taken that tired concept to a whole new level for Arrow and Faith.

[sighs]

[knocking] No, no, no. Not while I’m in a flow state. Oh.

Hattie?

Yes, yes, yes.

Shouldn’t you be, like, learning your lines?

Yes, I was home, and I was reading all these shows, and then it occurred to me that I needed to come over and talk to you.

What’s wrong? Is there a problem?

Problem? There’s a problem, yes. Leo, all of these scripts have to be rewritten, completely rewritten.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

I beg your pardon. You need me to do what?

Look, I read all these scripts, and so what I did was I went ahead and I put frowny faces on the ones that I didn’t like at all, and then I put smiley faces on the ones that I liked, you know, kind of a little bit. And then I got to thinking, oh, my gosh, how am I gonna memorize these things?

OK.

So, well, then I thought, why worry about that because they’ll all be rewritten, anyway. I won’t have to memorize these particular shows.

OK, OK, and what, pray tell, is wrong with your scenes?

Well, you know, it’s– It’s about Kassandra and Charlemagne. Because Kassandra has way too much of the storyline going on.

Uh-huh, so?

So– so? Charlemagne is the star of the show, you see? So it doesn’t work. Charlemagne may needs to have most of the dialogue because she is, you know, after all, the star. The audience understands that. And if you don’t get that right, they will turn on you. They will really turn on you. In fact, what will happen is the audience will– will turn off the television, and they’ll go to the movies, or they will leave the television on, but they will change the channel, or they’ll turn the television off, and they– they’ll read a book.

OK, OK, OK. I get what you’re saying. So you want me to rewrite all these scripts so that you have more dialogue?

Exactly. And– and you can thank me for doing a favor for you. Because in addition to improving the show enormously, you’ll be putting Bonnie in her place.

I’m sensing a rivalry here a la Joan Crawford and Bette Davis.

Yes, a rivalry. Ever since my close personal friend became a super diva.

[soft dramatic music]

Hmm.

Hmm.

So my dad is negotiating to get you a better deal, huh?

Heck, yeah. My husband is a crackerjack lawyer, let me tell you. In fact, I am guaranteeing he gets me % over scale, an extra week of vacay pay and an early out every other Friday. Uh-huh.

Now, Bon– Bonnie, have you ever heard of the phrase “you can’t get blood from a stone”?

Well, of course. What’s that got to do with my contract?

Everything. You see, this show is on a very tight budget, from what I hear.

Well, honey, this is a big production. You know, it’s “Body & Soul.” That is a household name, a brand. They got plenty of money to spread around. In fact, so much so, Kate Brady, she’s gonna fold like a cheap lawn chair.

[chuckles]

[chuckles]

Mark my words.

I think we have a deal.

Fantastic. OK, so just put your John Hancock right there.

And the deal is you tell Bonnie she either accepts the original terms of the deal or “Body & Soul” is more than happy to find a new Kassandra.

[dramatic music]

So what’s so important that it has to be done tonight?

Well, you suggested that we have a photo shoot of the cast for the relaunch. You know, and then splash it across social media, magazines, et cetera, et cetera.

Right. Right, I did. But, um, I remember you telling me that we didn’t have enough money left in our budget for even a cappuccino. So we– we couldn’t afford to do it.

Well, that’s no longer the case.

Oh, did you find another investor?

I– I actually think this could be better. I happened to run into your cousin Eric today.

Eric? Well, I didn’t even know that he was in town.

Yeah, he’s back here to support Brady. But while I was mentioning the relaunch of “Body & Soul,” he very kindly offered to do the shoot pro bono.

Oh, you’re kidding, Abe. That’s great.

[laughs] Yes. So I have scheduled the shoot for tonight.

OK, then. Well, I should help wrangle the actors.

Wrangle. I think that might be the operative word.

Right. Since our show has no shortage of larger-than-life personalities.

[soft dramatic music]

OK. OK, how about this? In act , Charlemagne is talking to her ex-husband, and she says something like “Really, Kassandra? That shrew has the charm of a dead houseplant.” Huh?

Hmm.

What?

No. No. Too snarky. Charlemagne wouldn’t stoop to that.

OK. OK. Look, Hattie. I want you to be happy with your part. Truly, I do, but I can’t just be making changes willy nilly. There’s a chain of command, and all of these scripts have been approved by the producers. Any rewrites need to be submitted, and that really just slows everything down.

Why don’t you tell that to Bonnie? She’s the one who’s off the reservation with all these rewrites and rewrites and changes of hers.

Really? She’s been making changes? Nobody told me that. And why is anybody making changes? We haven’t even started shooting yet.

I know. I know. She’s just gone off the rails, and she’s writing like she’s Greta Gerwig or somebody.

OK. Look, Hattie. I am burning the midnight oil writing the next batch of scripts. I don’t have time to make any changes to anything that’s already been approved.

Look. This is the first week of our relaunch, so we have to get it right, you know? We’ve got to reel the audience in like a rainbow trout.

You mean our gay viewers?

No. I actually meant like the fish.

Oh. OK, look, I will see what I can do, but I’m not making any promises.

OK, tell me what you think about this, OK? OK.

[relaxed music]

Relationships, my dear, they’re not like some barefoot walk on the beach. They’re hard work, sometimes full of heartache, and your whole world could fall away, collapse suddenly without warning. Honey, I know about these things. Believe me. I do.

Wow. Bonnie, that was, like– that was, like, emotional.

Really?

That was really moving.

Oh, really?

Because I changed a little bit of that speech because it was a little boring.

Yeah, no, whatever. You’re a great actress.

[laughs] Oh, Alex. Thank you. Can you believe I have all my lines memorized already?

Good for you. I wish I could say the same thing about myself. But honestly, that’s the least of my worries because I’m really worried about just working alongside my co-star.

Chanel? Why?

Well, as you may know, we’re supposed to be playing this hot young couple, crazy in love, star-crossed, but in reality, there’s a little bit more than just tension between us.

So you really, uh, dread working with Alex, huh?

Yeah. You already know that, Johnny. I mean, after what happened with him and Allie, he is the last person on Earth that I want to spend eight hours a day with.

More like , actually.

Oh, God.

Look, what happened with Alex and Allie, that’s all in the past. And everything worked out for the better, right? I mean, Allie seems very happy in her new life, and, I don’t know, you seem happy, from what you tell me, anyway.

Well, of course, I am. OK? I am married to the sweetest…

Ooh.

Sexiest man on the planet.

Oh. And I am the luckiest guy on the planet because I get to be married to my sexy, talented wife. And besides, isn’t part of the reason you accepted this job so that you could spend every day with your, dare I say it, dashing director?

[laughs]

Hmm?

Yeah. Well, I guess if I am going to have to spend hours in the studio, then I am grateful that I get to spend them with you.

Hmm. And I get to spend those said hours not only in your presence but also telling you what to do.

Mm, which is the opposite of our marriage, huh?

[laughter]

[phone rumbles] Oh, I am vibrating.

Tell me about it.

No, I mean my phone.

[phone beeps]

Actually, you know what? Me too.

It is an…

Email from the studio.

Pink pages? What are pink pages?

Uh, they’re, like, last minute changes to the script. It looks like there’s some more pages added for tomorrow… for you and Alex.

[soft dramatic music]

Wait, what? Faith and Arrow have sex?

[sighs]

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I was under the impression that Faith and Arrow were star-crossed lovers, longing for one another while everything gets in the way. I mean, isn’t the whole point that they don’t have sex, at least not for a while?

Yeah, I don’t know. I mean, from what Abe and Kate told me, yeah, I mean, Faith and Arrow weren’t supposed to consummate their relationship for months.

Hey, well, now it is happening this week! And I just– ooh, I cannot believe that I have to have a love scene with Alex this week, like, right off the bat.

Yeah, well, I have to direct it.

So Chanel blames you for Allie and her breaking up and Allie moving out of town?

Right, and I mean, it’s not like she doesn’t have a slight reason to.

You and Allie, you, well, you know, a second time.

Yeah.

Was that after the threesome?

Hey?

What?

Can we use our inside voices when we’re talking about that, please?

Please, honey. Nobody’s listening.

Really? Nobody’s listening? This is Salem.

Fine. Shh. I’ll keep it down.

Thank you.

I’ve been, you know, thinking. If you want my advice– and you probably don’t, but you’re gonna get it anyway– you should channel that emotion into your performance, you know, the tension, with Chanel. See, I was reading in Uta Hagen’s “Respect for Acting,” she talks about using anger and nervousness and upset and really using it to spice up your performance.

All right, but, I mean, I don’t think Faith should really want to, you know, knee Arrow in the groin. She loves him.

But you can’t be together, right? I mean, you’re being kept apart by forces out of your control.

I guess so.

OK. There it is. There’s the tension. So every time we see Arrow, we should see him longing for Faith. We should see him thinking that, oh, if only the stars could align, we could ride off into the sunset together. But you can’t. So you, Alex, you as an actor, you got to dig. You know? You got to dig down deep, and you got to channel that heartbreak.

[relaxed music]

Wow, Bonnie. I got to tell you, you got, like, an innate sense for this whole acting thing.

[laughs] Well, no, credit where credit is due. During my audition, Johnny told me I shouldn’t hold back.

Huh.

He actually said that…

[clears throat] well, what I did to Adrian was actually a gold mine to use to play Kassandra.

Ah. So it worked?

Oh, yeah, it worked.

[laughs] And, you know, I don’t mean to brag or anything, but you– you said it yourself. Turns out I have talent.

[laughs] And Justin is gonna make sure Kate sees exactly that. And there he is, my agent, or my husband who’s acting as my agent. Mwah. Hello.

Hey.

So how did it go? Did you have Kate begging for mercy?

Not exactly.

Hey. Hello there.

Hey, did you talk to Stephanie?

I did. I did. And she’s ready to step in and organize the whole photo shoot.

That’s wonderful. Except there won’t be a photo shoot if Eric is a no show.

Oh, he texted me a while ago. He’s gonna gather his equipment. He should be here soon.

Ah, well, that’s wonderful. Another problem solved.

[chuckles] Well, what’s that?

You know, Justin was here earlier. He wanted to revise Bonnie’s contract. He said she was owed a sweetheart deal. And I made it perfectly clear, no sale.

[soft dramatic music]

Scale? You promised you’d get me a better deal.

I’m sorry, sweetheart. I know that’s what I promised you, but Kate was adamant that the original offer was final. So it was either accept the offer or walk. And I assume you don’t want to do that.

No, of course I don’t want to do that. Especially now I feel like Kassandra is part of me, you know? I mean, I couldn’t abandon her, not in good conscience. So I will take it in spite of it all because the show must go on. And I will play Kassandra Lovegood for all she’s worth.

Oh, good. You’re here.

What’s all that?

I think they’re known as pink pages.

Heck. What are all these changes? Charlemagne pushes Kassandra into her own birthday cake? Kassandra’s long-lost daughter tells her she wishes Charlemagne were her real mother? When Kassandra loses her job, Charlemagne hires her as her unpaid intern? Who made these changes?

Don’t look at me. I didn’t do it.

Who did?

Well, I mean, who always does that, you know? The head writer does. So if you’re having a problem with anything, you should– you should talk to Leo Stark.

Oh? Somebody say my name?

Oh.

[soft dramatic music] – I got to talk to Leo. I got to tell him that it is way too soon for Faith and Arrow to be sleeping together.

Yeah.

[phone beeps] What? What’s going on? More changes?

No, it’s a text from Stephanie. Apparently there’s a last minute photo shoot, and they need the entire cast of “Body & Soul.”

When?

Now.

All right. So I sent a group message to the cast, and almost everybody has replied that they’re on the way to the studio, and if we have any stragglers, then I will track them down. All we need now is–

Hello?

Eric.

I’m accounted for.

[laughter]

Hi.

Hi.

I cannot tell you how much we appreciate you doing this shoot for us. I know you’re going to get exactly what we need to whet the viewer’s appetite.

And we only wish that we had enough money to pay you what you’re worth.

Oh, no, no, no, no. Don’t worry about it. I just– I’m just glad I’m able to help, you know? I just know how much “Body & Soul” means to you and to the audience and everybody in Salem who’s been working on it. Just remember me in your Emmy speech.

[laughter]

Well, I think you might be putting the cart before–

OK, of course, we will.

All right. Well, hey, all I need to do is set up. So from what I’ve heard, it seems pretty straightforward.

Yeah.

Leo, why would you do this? Why would you butcher the script just to make me look like a buffoon, a doormat?

Well, you know, technically, it’s not you, Bonnie. It’s Kassandra.

Oh, oh, look. It’s a text from the studio.

Wait, I got one, too.

Why didn’t I get one?

It’s only for on-air talent, something about a last-minute photo shoot.

A photo shoot. I’m so ready for my close up.

Me too.

Break a leg.

Oh, honey. I don’t think you say that for a photo shoot. Or do you?

Good luck, then.

Aw. No, either is fine. Mm. Love you.

Love you, too, Bonnie. Have fun.

Thank you. Hey, I’ll give you a ride, Alex. Hattie, you coming?

Sure. Yeah, I’ll come along.

Uh, not so fast.

What? What’s wrong?

What’s wrong? I did you a favor, several of them, actually, and you throw me under the bus?

Oh. Well, you know what they say. That’s showbiz, baby. Besides, it’s always the writer that takes the blame. Ha.

Damn it. Try and be helpful, and this is the thanks I get. Reminds me of that time I dated that gorgeous Chilean painter Emiliano with the neck that was slightly too long. So I go out and buy him several cashmere sweaters, and what do I get in return? Broken heart.

[knocking] Ugh. Hattie? – It’s Johnny.

Well, if it isn’t my favorite director.

May I?

Please.

Thank you.

To what do I owe the pleasure?

I was just reading those pink pages, the Faith and Arrow love scene.

Pretty steamy, huh? If only the network allowed just a teeny bit of nudity.

If only.

So here’s what I was thinking. We start on a close up of the two of them making out, and you slowly tilt down. Cue the royalty free jazz. Cut to the fireplace, et cetera, et cetera. But I don’t need to tell you how to do your job. I mean, even an amateur can make Alex Kiriakis look like he is en fuego, which means on fire, in case you’re not familiar with español. Am I right?

No, yeah. Sure. Look, I was just thinking maybe it’s a little too soon for them to be having sex, right?

When is it ever too soon to have sex? I mean, all of my favorite movies have wild sex scenes in the first six, seven minutes, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they’re all French.

OK, look. I’m– I’m– I’m– speaking in terms of this story, all right, on this show. And if I may quote the late, great Agnes Nixon, you got to make them laugh, you got to make them cry, and most importantly, you have to make them wait.

Hmm. Who cares what some former first lady says? I mean, unless we’re talking about Jackie O. That woman had serious style.

Listen, Leo. I came here to ask you one question. Would you just– would you consider rewriting that scene?

What? It is an important, pivotal scene.

Leo, it’s too soon!

The answer is no.

I’m telling you, you need to build suspense.

No more rewrites! Huh.

All right. Looks like I got everyone checked in. So with any luck, we will get done with our principal shot tonight.

That would be great.

Ah, there they are, Hattie, Bonnie. OK, you two are up first. Wardrobe is right down the corridor.

Oh, great. Before we start, could I have a word?

About what?

Your head writer.

Leo. What about him?

He’s gone rogue. Have you seen all these pinks?

Oh, wait, wait. You know what, come on. She just said that we’re trying to get the show on the road, so come on, chop-chop. We got to move. We got to go.

Yep, yep. Let me take you to wardrobe.

OK.

Just come this way.

OK. It just– yeah.

All right. All right. All right.

Oh, Justin.

Hey, Abe.

[relaxed music]

I– I’m very sorry about the Bonnie contract situation. The thing is that Kate is, well, in charge of everything that goes into the budget, and she doesn’t allow any wiggle room.

It’s been a few years since you were on the force, right?

I guess you never forget how to do the good cop, bad cop thing.

[laughs] Well, I suppose that’s right.

[chuckles]

You know, we would like to– I’d give everyone a big raise if we had the money, and I believe that we should pay everyone their worth.

That’s very good of you, Abe.

If the show, or rather, when this show gets on the air, and it becomes a big hit…

[chuckles] Then we can revisit the Bonnie contract situation.

[gasps] Wow! You look amazing!

There’s our Kassandra. You look absolutely stunning.

Oh, stop. Actually, keep going.

[laughter]

You’re a knockout, Kassandra.

If you could just stand right over here, that’d be great.

OK, so you want me, like–

I just want you to be yourself. Be in character. Be Kassandra.

Ooh, that I can do.

Awesome!

[laughing]

You look great. You look fantastic. There. Oh, that’s great!

[laughs] You look fantastic. Keep it going. Look at you! Yes! Come on. Give it to me. Bonnie? Hey?

What?

[energetic music] What are you wearing?

What are you wearing?

Oh, this is ridiculous. We can’t wear the same dress. You got to go change.

What? No. No, no, no, no, no. I am not changing. I am Charlemagne Delacroix.

So what? I’m Kassandra Lovegood.

So what? I have never been pushed into a cake, I’ve never done an unpaid internship, and I certainly have never changed my attire for the likes of you.

Well, that’s where you’re wrong, sister, because you will not steal my thunder. Now, you take off that dress, or I will take it off for you!

Don’t you dare!

Watch me!

[grunts] Take off the dress!

So what kind of angle you think we can get here?

No, no, no!

Take it off!

Take it off.

You take it off!

No, you, you, you!

No!

I saw it first!

Well, what do you think?

Ah, you are a vision, my dear. This is the perfect dress for our ingenue.

Thank you. I’m just glad it was still on the rack. It looked like someone was rolling around in the clothes.

Mm-hmm, you don’t say.

Mm, Chanel, why don’t you come down over here?

You look beautiful.

Thank you.

All right. Just be natural.

[laughs] That’s great. Perfect.

Alex, are you ready?

Oh.

Well, well. It’s right this way.

Oh, I will just get out of your way.

No, no, no.

No? But aren’t I done with my shoot?

No. We still need you here. You two are our hot young couple. We need some pictures of you together.

[energetic music]

Do I or do I not order this Gloria Estefan pajama onesie?

[knocking] Ugh! Can I ever get a little me time? I already told you, Johnny. No more rewrites.

I don’t care what you told Johnny. I know Hattie put you up to these pinks!

No.

No?

No. I made those changes myself. I am the head writer, after all. I have the power. I am very important, highly respected, and the buck stops with me, Bonnie. I have the last word.

I’ll tell you what else stops with you, mister– the success of this show if you let that stuck-up Hattie Adams bully you into ruining my character. Because if you do, I quit.

What? You can’t do that.

Oh, really? Watch me. Unless…

Unless?

Unless you unpink these pages right now.

Oh.

[soft dramatic music]

All right, that’s good. Hey, Alex, look at Chanel. Look in her eyes.

[energetic music] All right, put your arm around her. Come on. There it is. That’s it. It looks great.

Did you get those pages? You know, where Faith and Arrow have sex?

Yes, I did.

Don’t you think it’s a little–

Rushed?

Yeah, rushed.

Yeah, I do, actually. And I was thinking about maybe asking Kate and Abe if maybe they can pull it back a little bit.

Hey, Chanel. Why don’t you look into Alex’s eyes for a minute? There it is. That’s it. It’s brilliant! Act like you want him to hold you closer. You want him to be there, turning you on. I see it.

I have to say, Alex, I’m a bit surprised.

Why? Why? You think I’d leap at the chance to pretend jump your bones?

No. Well, maybe.

OK, well, I may have been a player in real life, but–

May have been?

But this is acting. And whatever happens on the screen isn’t real. All that matters is that the audience thinks that it is.

Here we go.

I know what this needs. Alex, lose the jacket.

[sighs]

Hattie. Is everything all right?

No, everything is not all right. You have to fire that Bonnie Kiriakis because that woman can’t even act.

You want me to fire Bonnie?

Which word don’t you understand? Abe, I’m telling you, it’s her or me.

Oh, my God. This is perfect. Yeah! Oh, my God, so sexy.

Not sexy enough, if you ask me.

Um, Chanel, why don’t you put your hand on his chest. We need to see the heat between you.

Awesome.

Yes, that’s it! Oh, my God. This is great! You guys are beautiful! Oh, yes. Touch her face. Yes, it’s hot. You guys are sexy.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Hey, baby. I’m sorry I’m late. My wardrobe fitting took forever.

Oh, It’s okay. I actually just got here myself. It has been a crazy day at the studio. I thought my brain was going to explode from all the production meetings.

You know, when I signed on to do “Body & Soul,” I kind of thought that we would be working together all day, and now I haven’t seen you.

Yeah. Well, that will all change as soon as we start taping, which, as you know, is tomorrow. And I am so excited to direct my beautiful, sexy wife. I just hope she doesn’t turn out to be a total diva.

[scoffs]

Oh!

Me? Never.

Already pelting the director with baked goods. Okay, that answers our question.

[insects chirping]

[dog barking]

[monitor beeping]

You, uh, you need to rest. I should–I should go.

No. Please stay. I don’t wanna be alone right now.

[soft music]

Um…of course. I’ll–I’ll stay as long as you need.

I still find it hard to believe that my wonderful assistant, who I thought was such a big help… That she wanted to kill me. She would have succeeded… If you hadn’t been there to dig me out of the rubble. How did you even know that Melinda and I were in the tunnels?

Sheer luck. I just happened to notice the blood on the fireplace poker, and then I saw that the door to the secret passageway was open.

Well, thank God you did. Otherwise–

Hey. I know. Come here.

There’s already an APB out on Connie, so the police are on it, at least.

Oh, God, that woman is a complete lunatic.

Yeah, more like a homicidal maniac.

Yeah, right. I mean, who knows what other crimes she may have committed, right?

Yeah. Well, come on. We need to fix this. We got–

Oh, come on. It’s not that big a deal, all right? No need to fuss over me, okay?

Who said this was about you? I don’t want you getting blood all over my room.

Ah. My mistake.

Seriously, come on. It’s the least I could do. I mean, after all, you, uh– oof–you saved my life.

I think you might be exaggerating a bit.

No, no, I wasn’t exaggerating.

[groans]

It’s all right. Sorry. I saw that look in Connie’s eye. She was definitely gonna slit my throat. If you hadn’t gotten her to change her tune and get angry at you, I would have been toast.

What can I say? I have a knack for pissing women off, especially the psychotic ones.

Seriously. Come on. Stop downplaying what you did. You were heroic. You’re also a little stupid, though, because you could have gotten yourself killed. But you put your life on the line for me. And I’ll never forget that.

Hey, hold it right there, Connie! Drop the knife, or I’ll shoot. I said, drop the knife. This is your last warning. If you don’t drop it, I swear–

All right! All right!

[tense music]

Connie Viniski, you are under arrest.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you. Do you understand?

Yeah, yeah. How did you find me?

[suspenseful music]

Easy. One of your victims, Melinda Trask, she told me that you were in possession of one of your other victims’ phones.

Melinda? But how could she have told you?

Oh, you thought you killed her? Well, I am pleased to inform you that your little bomb didn’t work out so well. Yeah, Gabi and Melinda are still alive.

I’m sorry. I–I didn’t mean to get so emotional.

Why are you sorry, Gabi? You nearly died. You’re allowed to be a little shaken up.

I guess that’s a pretty decent reason.

Mm.

[chuckles]

[soft music]

[sighs] You know, uh, when I was sure it was all over… I kept seeing Ari’s face in my mind… Remembering the last time that I saw her, how she hugged me so tightly when we said goodbye. And that–that was more frightening than anything, thinking I’d never see my daughter again.

I’m sure it was. Speaking of your beautiful daughter, would you like me to call Will and Sonny and tell them what happened?

No, that’s all right. Thanks. I’ll–I’ll speak to them myself when I’m feeling stronger, and Ari. God, I miss her so much. I wish we didn’t live so far apart.

Well, hopefully one day that will change.

Hopefully.

So is there anything else I can do for you?

No. It’s okay. Thank you. My God, you’ve done so much for me already, EJ. I owe you my life.

Is that too tight?

No, no, no, it’s–it’s fine. It’s perfect, actually. Actually, I’m kind of glad this all went down like this tonight.

Why is that?

Well, because I initially came here to apologize to you again for being a complete ass. Suggesting that you and I sleep together again to even the score with Gabi, you’re right, it was misogynistic and disrespectful to you. And I am sorry.

You should be.

Okay. Well, I am. And do you know what you should be right now? You should be forgiving me.

Oh?

Yes, you should accept my apology so that we can move on from all of this. I mean, don’t you think that that’s the least you could do to kind of reciprocate for me having rescued you from certain death?

Yeah, I guess. I guess it would be. All right. I suppose I can forgive you for being a jerk, but just under one condition.

Oh.

[laughs] Let’s hear it.

You have to let me take you to the hospital and get that cut fixed.

Come on, it’s really not that–

No, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no. No arguing with me, unless you want me to be mad at you for the rest of eternity? And maybe I could be– oh, I could be vengeful and vindictive. ‘Cause you know what? I’m kind of good at that.

You are. Okay, okay.

Uh-huh.

I don’t want any of those things, so let’s go.

Oh, wise choice.

Besides, I’ve got enough people feeling vindictive toward me at the moment anyway, so.

[chuckles] I’ve noticed.

Yeah. Besides, eternity is a long time.

Yeah, it goes on forever, from what I’ve heard.

So after tomorrow, we are going to be crazy busy with work, huh?

Well, we have to produce an entire episode in one day, so, yeah, we’re gonna have to hit the ground running.

Okay, which means that this is our last chance to have a nice dinner together, just the two of us, for a long time.

Unfortunately, I think you might be right. So let’s make the most of tonight. Shall we order a bottle of champagne?

The answer to that question is always hell yeah. But you should know that by now.

I do, I do. It was a rhetorical question.

Okay, I see. What is this?

Well, it’s just a little gift to mark the beginning of what will surely be your amazing career as a dramatic artiste.

Yeah, well, I would hold off on the gushing until the reviews are in.

No, no, no, my review is in, and not only are you beautiful and charming, you are also incredibly talented.

Yeah, well, thank you. And I hope that I live up to your expectations, Mr. Director. And now I will open my gift. And I hope you didn’t go overboard. Oh, my God. But of course you did. Oh, Johnny! It’s beautiful.

Well, it’s also a bit symbolic because I know that once “Body & Soul” airs, you, my love, are going to become a huge, huge star.

[soft music]

Johnny, it is just so wonderful to be here with you celebrating the start of, well, both of our new careers, right?

Yeah. Yeah, it is. It’s a dream come true, you know, it’s like, I get to do what I’ve always aspired to do. And you, you get to tap into this talent you didn’t even know you had.

Yeah, I’m still not sure that I have it.

No, believe me, you got it, okay? Take it from your very tasteful and discerning director.

All right, I will. You know, and not only is this just– it’s wonderful to be out having this lovely night and this lovely dinner, but it’s also really nice to be out of that war zone at home.

[chuckles] Yeah, you got that right. But, hey, at least the duct tape’s gone.

Ugh. Yeah, I know, right?

Mm-hmm.

That was actually kind of insane, Gabi dividing the house like that.

I don’t– I don’t know what she was thinking when she did that, but it made me feel like I was taking sides no matter where I stood.

I know. Me too.

Yeah.

Yeah, but–but really, honestly, I feel really bad for them, both of them, Gabi and Stefan. I mean, yeah, he was in the wrong when he slept with Ava, and that was really, really bad, and it was a big mistake, but he’s apologized for it, and he definitely seems like he regrets it.

Yeah.

So I– I really just hope that they can get past this.

Yeah. I don’t know if that’s possible anymore.

What? Why? What happened?

Look, I wasn’t gonna say anything, but I’m sure you’re gonna find out one way or another. Gabi had revenge sex with my dad.

[monitor beeping]

I’m just glad that I was, you know, in the right place at the right time. You know, it was– it was sheer luck, really, that I was able to save your life, so.

Well, I don’t choose to look at it that way. To me, you were heroic.

[sighs] Fine, I’ll take it.

[both laugh] Gabi?

What?

Well, uh…

[sighs] I’m sure this is the least of your worries right now, but I needed to give you a heads-up about Stefan.

Oh, God. What now?

I had a run-in with him earlier today. He told me that you told him that you and I had sex again this morning, and he wanted to know if that were true.

What did you tell him?

That we didn’t. But I also said that you weren’t lying.

Okay, that makes zero sense.

Yes, well, I was caught off-guard, and I was flustered. And on one hand, I didn’t wanna throw you under the bus, but on the other hand, I didn’t want to further provoke my brother. He already has me in quite the bind, so.

[sighs]

Oh, right, yeah. This morning, Stefan alluded to some kind of payback.

[pensive music]

EJ… What did he mean by that? What did he do to you?

[sighs]

[knocking]

Mind if I come in?

[sighs]

Oh! Oh! You think that’s such a good idea?

No, that’s okay. I feel fine without it.

Oh. Still one tough cookie, even after that ordeal you’ve just been through.

Yeah, well, I just feel lucky that I’m still here.

Mm. I bet you do. I visited the crime scene, saw that room where you were held hostage for all that time with that monster.

Yeah, it was just me and that cardboard cutout of poor Li Shin. It was pretty grim.

Mm. I can’t even imagine. Oh, anyway, I believe that this belongs to you.

Thank you.

Mm-hmm.

But you didn’t have to come all the way down here just to return it.

Oh, well, that’s not the only reason I came down. I–I wanted to see how you’re doing.

Hey, I’m surprised you care. I mean, it’s not like we’re buddies or anything.

True, true, but, uh…

[sighs] I always felt bad about firing you as my DA.

Then why did you?

Because I was strong-armed by EJ DiMera.

So Stefan plans to testify against you?

He offered to do so, yes. He’s chomping at the bit, in fact, to tell the world and the judge that I knew that Sloan Petersen stole Nicole’s baby and I kept quiet about it.

And you think that’s enough to put you in prison?

Probably not, although that won’t stop Paulina from firing me. But I do think I’ve convinced her to back off for now.

Damn.

[pensive music] Maybe I can get Stefan to let all this go if I just admit to him that I lied. I mean, about you and me sleeping together again.

Are you sure you want to do that?

You saved my life, EJ. I kind of owe you one.

Wait a minute. Whose blood is this?

Oh, that would be mine. This maniac showed up on Ava’s doorstep and tried to slash her throat.

Yeah. It’s a good thing that Stefan showed up before she did. But she managed to injure him, slashed his arm, and then ran off.

Thankfully, she didn’t get too far.

I would have gotten further if you weren’t in stupid hero mode.

Hey! No talking. All right, I’m going to need statements from the both of you.

Okay. Well, I’m taking Stefan to the hospital to get his wound checked. Can we give them to you later?

Of course. In the meantime, I’m going to take Miss Viniski here down to the station.

Let’s go.

[sighs]

Oh, so Gabi went full savage mode, huh?

That’s one way to put it.

Wait, wait, how did you find out?

I walked in on my dad and my uncle arguing about it.

So Stefan knows?

Oh, yeah, yeah. That was kind of the whole point, I think. You know, I think the only reason Gabi slept with my dad was so that she could rub it in Stefan’s face.

Ooh, and I’m assuming he went ballistic.

Oh, yeah. What’s going to upset him more than his brother sleeping with his wife?

Yeah. Yeah, that was hella vindictive of Gabi. I mean, I guess I can kind of get why she did it. She wanted payback. You know, but your dad, what was his excuse? Does he really hate his brother that much?

I don’t know. I think that it’s probably less about him hating Stefan and more about the fact that he’s been a mess ever since his marriage with Nicole blew up, even more so now that he’s got the divorce papers.

Yeah, but I mean, still, to take all that out on his brother?

Yeah.

He might have started an all-out war.

Any word on Connie yet? I mean, I just hate the idea that she might just still be out there.

I–I haven’t heard anything, but I can go and see what I can find out. Although you said you wanted me to stay.

No, that’s– that’s all right. I need to rest a bit anyway.

Okay then. I’ll be back soon. Get some rest.

[soft music]

[sighs]

Have a seat.

Like! Oh, my God! Are you a sight for sore eyes. But what are you doing here, my love? Are they arresting you too?

You can’t arrest a cardboard cutout, lady. We took him from your apartment as evidence.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! You’ve got it all wrong! This man is innocent!

[groans] It wouldn’t take a detective to figure out that EJ used underhanded means to get his old job back. But I’m still curious. What exactly did he do?

You remember that petition to get me recalled? Turns out his devious ass was behind it. He wanted that DA job, and I didn’t wanna give it to him, so he invented a totally bogus organization just to vilify me. Oh, he hoped that my reputation would be ruined and I’d be ousted. And, you know, I actually thought that he would succeed. So even though I hated it, I– I agreed to hire him.

Totally shafting me in the process.

Mm. Yeah, but you know what? Hey, I did offer you head of sanitation. Okay, okay, right. Right, right. But recently, I have found a new reason to fire him, and that is my intention.

Won’t he just try again to get you recalled?

Probably, but that’s never stopped me before. And I’m so done with that man, oh, that I’m willing to risk it. So, Melinda Trask, you want your old job back?

What the hell happened to you?

Oh, some whack job attacked me.

Wait, was it Connie Viniski?

Yeah. How did you know?

She just tried to kill Melinda and Gabi.

What?

She tied them up in the tunnels and set off a bomb.

Oh, my God.

Is Gabi okay?

She’s fine. I was able to get her out of the rubble and bring her here. She’s suffered some minor injuries, but she’s–she’s okay.

What room is she in?

. Hmm. I guess someone’s still hung up on his wife.

Gabi. I just heard what happened.

Stefan.

[soft music]

Thank God you’re okay.

As fascinating as it is, I don’t wanna talk about my dysfunctional family anymore, okay? I would much rather just focus on you.

Mm. Well, I can handle that.

Mm-hmm. So are you nervous to shoot your first scenes tomorrow?

Yeah, sure.

Yeah?

Yeah. I mean, I wanna do well, and I wanna make you proud.

Hey, I am already proud of you, okay? And I know that you’re gonna do great.

Okay, well, I just have to remember my lines. And, man, there is a lot of them.

Yeah. Well, I’d be happy to run them with you, if you want.

Thank you. I–I spent all night running them with myself, and I think I’m good. The only thing that I’m, like, low-key nervous about is the tango scene in episode . I mean, I can do TikTok dances, no problem, but ballroom dancing? That’s not my–ugh.

Well, there’s gonna be a choreographer on set. But, okay are you ready to have your mind blown? You ready?

Okay.

Okay?

Yeah.

I happen to be an expert tango dancer.

No, no. Shut up.

Yeah. Yeah. No, it’s true. My dad, he taught me a while back. He taught my mom too. She and he actually won a dance competition here in Salem years ago.

Wow.

Mm-hmm.

Okay, I’m–I’m impressed.

So how about I show you some of the basics?

Uh, right now?

Sure. Why not?

[laughs]

Look, I know I missed a lot while I was held hostage, but Johnny and Chanel, they’re still married, right?

Very much so.

[coughing] And that makes you and EJ in-laws. Isn’t that gonna be awkward when you fire him?

Probably, but that never stopped me before. And if there’s any fallout from the kids, I’ll deal with it. So just say yes.

Paulina, I–I really appreciate the offer, but I don’t wanna be a pawn in the power struggle between you and EJ. And besides, the guy, he basically saved my life. You know, if he didn’t show up and put out that fire, I’d be burnt to a crisp.

You know, I think you give him too much credit. Knowing EJ, he probably was just trying to save his vintage wine collection.

That might be true. But here’s the other thing. I actually really like working at DiMera.

Oh, seriously?

Mm-hmm.

Oh. You don’t miss the thrill of the courtroom?

Mm-mm.

Are you really happy just looking at boring old contracts?

I know it sounds crazy, but I think my paycheck is enough of a thrill for me. It’s enough to almost make me forget that I’m working for Kristen DiMera.

Mm. That paycheck must be huge.

[chuckles]

So, well, nothing I can say to change your mind?

Thanks, but no. Although I am worried about how much work I’ll have to catch up on. Like I said, I missed a lot being tied to that bed.

Well, at least you had company. Li Shin, you know, in all his two-dimensional glory.

Please, you have to release him. He hasn’t done anything wrong. And neither have I.

Nothing wrong? You took the lives of Li Shin and Everett Lynch. You don’t consider that wrong, Ms. Viniski?

[tense music] And how about the attempted murders of Rafe Hernandez, Gabi Hernandez, Melinda Trask, Ava Vitali, and Stefan DiMera?

But none of that is true. I didn’t do any of that. And Li is fine. He’s standing right there. Tell her, sweetheart.

You know, Mr. Shin doesn’t seem too eager to defend you. So let’s go. Come on.

Sit tight, Li. I’ll take care of everything.

So the police have Connie in custody?

Yeah. Jada caught her right after she tried to kill me and Stefan in my room.

Stefan was in your room?

Yeah. He came by to talk, and it’s a good thing that he did because he saved my life.

Hmm, that’s interesting.

What is?

It just seems that you and Stefan have been nearly inseparable these days.

Inseparable? He’s my friend. We’ve been through a lot together.

Including a night of passion.

Oh, how elegant of you to bring up.

[scoffs] You know, that night was a big mistake. Stop. Just stop looking at me like that because there’s nothing going on between me and Stefan except friendship.

If you say so.

[clears throat] How badly are you hurt?

Nothing serious. I–I got knocked out by the blast, so I have a slight concussion, some scratches. But really, I’m okay.

I’m sorry, Gabi. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you. If only I knew what Connie was up to.

If only any of us had known. Did you hear that she’s the one who killed Li?

What?

Yeah. And framed me for his murder.

Oh, my God. Wait, but why? I mean, why– why did she kill him?

She was obsessed with him. And she blamed Melinda and me for Li not returning her feelings. She only wanted to be my assistant to get revenge. And then she tried to destroy our marriage, first by telling me that you and Ava had slept together, then by encouraging me to sleep with someone else. And of course, I didn’t have to listen to her. I mean, I have a mind of my own. So I can’t blame her for that. What happened to your arm?

You and Melinda weren’t the only ones Connie tried to kill tonight.

Oh, my God. She went after you too?

Well, she went after Ava first, but, uh, I got stabbed in the process, yeah.

[pensive music]

So where did this happen?

The pub.

The pub? You mean with people looking on?

No, it was just, uh…

[clears throat] Me, Ava, and Connie in her room, in Ava’s room.

[sighs]

[both laugh]

[applause]

You, you are a fast learner.

Oh, yeah. Well, I had a really good teacher.

Yeah?

Mm-hmm. And now that I know that you are such a good dancer, we have to go dancing more often.

Yeah, well, we can keep practicing more right now if you want.

Yeah, I wish. And as much as I hate for this romantic night to end, we both have really early mornings. So I think that we should head home.

I know that you are right. But I also hate for this evening to end, especially because I know the DiMera mansion is probably still a combat zone.

Thank you. I’ll be right there.

[phone beeps] Connie Viniski is in police custody.

Thank God.

Well, you know, I need to get down to the police station to get a full report, but before I go–

Paulina, I’m not gonna change my mind.

Mm, got it. Actually, I was just going to see if maybe you’d like to grab lunch sometime.

I’d like that. And, hey, if you make sure that psycho Connie Viniski gets what she deserves, lunch is on me.

[pensive music]

[sobbing]

We’ve got you dead to rights, Ms. Viniski. So you might as well just sign a confession. It’ll score you some points when it comes to your sentencing.

Nice try, Commissioner Hunter. But I know how this works. I’m not saying or signing anything until I get a lawyer.

Okay. But just a word of advice? I’d cooperate on this case in any way that you can because we are throwing the book at you.

You’re just trying to intimidate me. But it’s not going to work. I’ve seen every episode of “SVU” twice. Olivia Benson uses this tactic all the time.

Trying to intimidate you? I am trying to get you locked up for the rest of your miserable little life. You killed my ex-husband. And you tried to kill my boyfriend.

That’s not fair. I never would have gone after Rafe if it wasn’t for Bobby.

What the hell does that mean?

Bobby was upset that I stabbed Rafe, but I told him, I said I would get Rafe out of the picture in exchange for Bobby’s silence, and Bobby agreed to that. But I don’t know what the hell else he thought I meant by that. That I was gonna wave a magic wand and go poof, and Rafe would disappear?

So Bobby really was innocent. He was just one of your victims. Oh, my God. That man was mentally ill. And you killed him. And then you framed him for Rafe’s stabbing.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I didn’t say any of that. You can’t use any of that against me.

Of course I can. Miranda rights, remember?

Well, how can you use anything I said when you didn’t do the same for Brady Black?

[tense music] Oh, yeah, I heard all about that. Apparently, confessions don’t mean much around here.

I don’t need you to confess, Connie. I just need you to keep talking. You see, we’ve already built an airtight case against you. And trust me, you are going to onna pay dearly for all of the horrifying things that you’ve done.

So Gil Carter didn’t kill Li. It was Connie.

Mm-hmm, right. And she also stabbed Rafe and killed Everett Lynch.

Oh, my God.

And to top it off, she was holding Melinda hostage in her apartment.

No, no, no. Melinda, is she here? I need to speak to her.

Oh, I didn’t know you two were friends.

We’re not. But I owe her an apology.

So you and Ava–

It’s not what you think, okay? I was over there to apologize.

Apologize for what?

It all started when EJ showed up at the Bistro, okay? Ava was there because I just hired her back, and–

[soft tense music]

You hired Ava to work for you, the woman you cheated with?

She needed a job, Gabi, and since you were responsible for that because you were the one who fired her from DiMera–

You’re seriously not blaming me.

Why would you need to apologize to that bimbo if you just gave her a job?

Because EJ riled me up, okay? He would not confirm that the two of you had actually slept together a second time. And when he didn’t deny it, I assumed that it was true. And I’m not proud of this, okay… but I– I asked Ava to help me even the score by–

By what?

By propositioning her to sleep with me a second time.

You son of a bitch!

What did the fire chief say?

There was an explosion in the tunnel. Somebody set off a bomb.

Oh, my God. Well, I hope no one was hurt.

Yeah, I don’t know if they were or not. We’re gonna have to have my dad fill us in.

Where’s Ms. Viniski?

She’s cooling her heels in there.

Oh, nice job, Commissioner. Did she confess?

No, she clammed up and asked for a lawyer.

A lot of good that’ll do her. Uh-uh, there’s no way she’s getting out of this, no matter what any lawyer says. That woman, she’s gonna spend the rest of her life behind bars.

I don’t think so.

What? What do you mean? She’s obviously guilty.

Oh, that’s for sure. But based on what I’ve seen, I don’t think Connie’s going to end up at Statesville. Yeah, I’m guessing that she’s headed straight for Bayview.

[suspenseful music]

Li.

Yes, my darling, I’m here.

Thank God. They didn’t hurt you, did they?

No. But they’re gonna book me for aiding and abetting.

Well, don’t you say a word. I’ve asked for a lawyer. I’ll get us both out of this.

Of course you will. ‘Cause you’re the smartest person I know. Not just the smartest, you’re the most beautiful, passionate. Everything a man could want in a woman. And I can’t tell you how much I appreciate everything you’ve done for me, for us.

I knew from the first moment I saw you that we were meant to be, even if you didn’t see it at first.

Well, I see it now. And nothing can stop us from being together forever.

I love you, Li.

And I love you, Connie Viniski.

Oh, Li, you’re my heart, my soul, my only reason for living. So please don’t leave. Don’t ever leave me.

[coughing]

Here. You hear Connie was arrested?

Yeah. The mayor told me. Yeah.

I am so sorry for what that monster put you through.

It was harrowing, to say the least.

And kind of my fault.

What? How was this your fault?

Well, I knew that you were on your way to fire Connie that day, and when I found out she was still working for Gabi, I should have known that something was up. I mean, especially after you took the leave of absence. Ugh. No, I knew it. I knew it in my gut that something was up, but I just– I guess I was just so consumed with my own drama that I didn’t look into it.

Yeah, Connie told me that you slept with Stefan and Gabi found out about it. But, hey, you know, next time I call you after I’ve been drugged by a psychotic murderer, maybe, I don’t know, uh, answer your phone.

Done. Hey, ooh, you know what? Ooh, if it makes you feel any better, Connie did try to slit my throat.

Oh, please. Amateur. You know, talk to me next time she holds you hostage and then tries to blow you to smithereens.

[both laugh]

[coughing]

You sure you’re okay?

Yes, really, I’m– I’m fine.

Good. Hey, look, Dad, I don’t think I ever told you, but Chanel and I actually had a run-in with this Connie person a while back. She–yeah, we both thought she was really odd, but we had no idea she was psychotic, homicidal.

No one did, unfortunately.

She–she set off a bomb in our house. Why would she do that?

It’s a long story. But in a nutshell, she held Melinda hostage in her apartment, she grabbed Gabi, too, and tied them up in the tunnel, set off the bomb. Melinda was relatively unscathed, but Gabi suffered some minor injuries.

Oh, man. Is she all right?

She’s fine. Your Uncle Stefan is in with her at the moment. But she’s going to be fine.

Look… I know that using Ava to get back at you was wrong. But you don’t get to be mad about that because you slept with my brother twice.

Once, you idiot.

Once? But you told me that–

I lied about sleeping with him a second time.

How the hell was I supposed to know that?

I don’t know, by maybe knowing me well enough to know when I’m making something up just to drive you nuts?

[soft tense music] Did you really think that sleeping with Ava would help things?

No, I didn’t. But at that point, it didn’t matter to me because you made it abundantly clear you had no interest in working on our marriage.

You know what? And I still don’t. Just do me a favor and get the hell out of here!

Fine.

Fine.

After she hung up, Jada told her that Rafe planned to check out against medical advice because he was worried about Gabi. She planned to give him a sedative. Jada was going to look for Connie. EJ noticed the bloody fireplace poker. He looked around and noticed the secret door open. EJ went through the doorway. Gabi and Melinda struggled in the wine cellar. The bomb counted down while they tried to escape. EJ went through the door just as the bomb went off. He flew back against the wall, and he was knocked out. EJ woke up and stumbled to get to his feet. A fire started, and Gabi was unconscious under the rubble. Ava ignored Stefan’s calls. Stefan was about to call Ava again, but he decided to see her instead. Connie went into Ava’s room at the pub to confront her for selling her out about her fake resume. She knew Melinda wouldn’t bad mouth her ever again. Ava wouldn’t do it either. Connie pulled out a knife. Ava tried to talk Connie down as Stefan knocked on the door. She felt lucky because Stefan was next on her list. Ava warned him to go away, but Connie put the knife to her throat. Connie ordered her to invite Stefan into the room. Stefan looked around and reacted. Abby nervously recited the vows to Chad. He was touched and thought there was no way she could recite the words unless she was there. Chad knew they wouldn’t be back to where they were, but it was the most hope he had since he found out she was alive. Chad took his phone and walked out the room. She fell onto the couch feeling distraught.

Mark left a message for Abby about his visit with Clyde. Kayla walked up to him and asked him about Abby’s DNA test. He told her that he didn’t let it out of his sight. No one tampered with it, so the woman is her niece. Jada went to the DiMera mansion and noticed the smoke. She noticed the bloody fireplace poker and the opened door to the wine cellar. Jada pulled out her gun and went through the door. EJ tried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. He spotted Melinda in the rubble. She was awake but still tied to a chair. Melinda choked as she told him to help Gabi. He rushed to Gabi, but she wasn’t responsive. Jada arrived and spotted Melinda. She untied the ropes. EJ was worried about Gabi having a head injury and rushed to get her to the hospital. Connie kept her knife at Ava’s throat as she told Stefan about her vengeance and devotion to Li. She had to silence Ava for good and he was next. He tried to help by taking the blame for everything that happened. When that didn’t work, he badmouthed Li. Connie went after him with the knife. Abby told Mark that she told Chad that she remembered her vows. She found them in a box of Abby’s memories. Abby thought what she did was cruel. Mark didn’t like it either, but they had to save their mother. She hung up the phone when Chad told her the DiMera mansion exploded. Kayla checked on Gabi. She told EJ that she wanted to get tests done on her head to rule out bleeding on her brain. Kayla advised EJ to go home, but he refused to leave her. Gabi woke up and wondered what happened. Jada brought Melinda water. She apologized for not finding her sooner. Melinda wondered if they could track Connie’s phone. Jada said she ditched it for burner phone. Melinda remembered that Connie took Gabi’s phone before she left. Gabi called herself a fool for trusting Connie. EJ reassured her that it wasn’t her fault. She thanked him for saving her life. Connie stabbed Stefan’s arm and ran out of Ava’s room. Ava tended to Stefan and told him that he saved her life. Connie left the pub and ran into Jada. She aimed her gun and warned her to drop her knife.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Kayla is at the hospital when she gets a call from Steve and says she was worried about him. Kayla is surprised to learn that Steve did talk to Clyde and asks about his doubts about “Abigail”. Kayla is not surprised that Clyde stonewalled him, asking why he would give him any answers if there’s nothing in it for him.

Chad goes home to find “Abigail” inside and questions what she’s doing there as he just brought the kids home. “Abigail” responds that she thought he’d want to know that she remembered something. Chad is thrilled and asks what she remembered. “Abigail” claims it was about them.

Kayla knows Steve has his doubts, but says they cannot do a DNA test on “Abigail” without her consent. Kayla says they will just talk about it when he gets back as they hang up. Jada approaches Kayla and tells her that Rafe has been so agitated that he’s threatening to check himself out against medical advice because he’s out of his mind with worry about Gabi.

Connie tells Gabi and Melinda that she is hurt and very angry, but she’s not confused as she knows just what she wants and pretty soon, she will have it. Melinda questions if she’s going to defy Li like this. Gabi reminds Connie that she’s been so good to her which is why she put all her faith in her. Gabi asks Connie not to throw it all away and says she’ll give her whatever she wants but Connie says no. Gabi pleads with her not to do this. Connie says goodbye and tells them to have a blast as she sets the bomb and exits as the bomb counts down from two and a half minutes while Gabi and Melinda scream.

Ava goes home to her room above the Pub and gets a text from Stefan with another apology but she says it’s not accepted. Ava mocks Stefan’s idea of wanting to even the score with Gabi by having sex again and calls him an ass. Ava then gets a call from Stefan.

Stefan remains at the Bistro as he tries to call Ava.

EJ goes home and guesses Gabi isn’t there. EJ pours a cup of coffee and then finds the bloody fireplace poker on the ground. EJ picks it up and questions the blood. EJ looks around the room and sees the entry to the tunnels is cracked open, so he wonders what the hell is going on here.

Gabi and Melinda continue to scream as they see the bomb is going to blow in two minutes and worry that they are going to die.

Ava rejects Stefan’s call and remarks that maybe his next restaurant manager will like to help him with his revenge sex. Connie then shows up at Ava’s door.

Stefan leaves Ava a voicemail, saying he feels terrible about hurting her feelings and disrespecting her. Stefan admits he was a total jerk and he would really like another chance to apologize. Stefan then decides voicemail is not the way to go and he needs to see her in person.

Ava asks what Connie is doing there. Connie responds that she’s just tying up some loose ends and that Ava is next on her list. Ava asks what she’s talking about. Connie says she knows that Ava has been trash talking her all around town and she’s disappointed that she did not heed her warning to keep her mouth shut. Ava thinks back to telling Jada about Connie being a fraud. Connie asks if Ava told on her. Ava denies it but Connie calls her a liar. Connie says she asked her to keep quiet but she sold her down the river. Connie adds that she’s already made sure that Melinda won’t be able to badmouth her ever again and now Ava won’t either as she pulls her knife out.

EJ calls out towards the tunnels to ask if someone is down there. EJ then enters the tunnels.

Gabi prays while Melinda screams and struggles with being tied up. EJ arrives outside the door and asks if anyone is there. EJ goes to open the door but the bomb counts down to 0 and explodes, knocking EJ out.

“Abigail” practices what she’s going to say to Chad and questions how she’s supposed to keep doing this to him. She then thinks back to talking to Mark about it. Chad comes back in to the room from telling Julie to stay with the kids. “Abigail” apologizes for not thinking about the kids seeing her there. Chad assures all is good and asks what she remembered. “Abigail” responds that she was really moved when he brought over their wedding album and recited his wedding vows. She claims it touched something inside of her. Chad thought she didn’t remember anything. She says she didn’t at first but then she kept looking at the album and thinking about his words. She claims that the Abigail that Chad was talking about no longer felt like a stranger to her. She says she could hear the music, smell the flowers, and taste the wedding cake which excites Chad. She claims she could see Chad in front of her and she remembered her wedding vows. Chad excitedly hugs her and says this is exactly what he prayed for.

Connie remarks that Ava seems surprised to see her. Ava says she is and asks how she knew where she lived. Connie says she got her information off the DiMera contact sheet before she was fired. Ava tells Connie that she’s not going to tell Gabi anything about her resume. Ava says Gabi got her fired and she never liked her anyway, so as far as she’s concerned, she never saw Connie and she won’t have a problem from her. Connie informs Ava that she and Gabi are parting ways, so she’s in the past now. Connie declares that she’s off to start a new life with her boyfriend but she can’t have everyone thinking she’s a fraud, arguing that she has lots of skills and is an amazing employee. Ava says she’s heard that she is very efficient. Connie argues that she’s just sucking up so she won’t hurt her but she sees through her. Ava swears that she’s not. Connie questions who Ava was gossiping to about her work history. Connie asks if she told Stefan. Ava claims that she didn’t and that they aren’t even that close, so she didn’t say anything to him about her. Connie doesn’t believe her and accuses her of lying. Ava doesn’t think it would register if she did since Stefan has so many important things on his mind right now. Ava doesn’t think Stefan would care, so he’s certainly not going to tell Gabi or anyone. Connie responds that she doesn’t trust Stefan and says that he is her next stop once she’s through with her. Stefan then knocks on the door, asking if Ava is in there. Connie calls it convenient to save her a trip.

Jada informs Kayla of the working theory that Connie stabbed Rafe and killed Li Shin. Jada worries that they might be adding Melinda’s name to that list. Kayla understands why Rafe is so worried about Gabi. Jada says that Rafe left her a message hours ago but she hasn’t gotten back and she has people out looking for her now. Kayla hopes Gabi is okay since Rafe has been through so much already. Jada worries that being this upset cannot be good for Rafe’s health as he’s going out of his mind. Kayla offers to give him a mild sedative. Kayla wonders if Connie has left town now that she knows they are onto her. Jada isn’t sure she knows, but says she will know soon enough because she has every available cop looking for her and Kristen mentioned seeing her at the park, so there’s a chance she is still in Salem. Jada thanks Kayla for looking after Rafe and says she’s going to join the search for Gabi as she exits the hospital.

EJ regains consciousness in the DiMera tunnels to see the wine cellar on fire in front of him. EJ gets to his feet and staggers inside where Gabi is knocked out underneath rubble from the explosion.

Chad tells “Abigail” how excited he got about her memories and asks how much of the vows she remembers. “Abigail” says pretty much all of them, so she can try to recite them. Chad says he would love that and tells her to take her time. “Abigail” then begins reciting Abigail’s wedding vows to Chad.

At the hospital, Mark calls “Abigail” and leaves a message that he got in to see Clyde. Mark says he tried to tell Clyde to stop pressuring her but he pushed back hard and he’s desperate for her to marry Chad again as soon as possible. Mark assures her that Steve didn’t see anything as Kayla then approaches.

Stefan continues knocking on Ava’s door and says he knows she’s in there as he saw her car parked outside. Stefan says he knows he already apologized but he wants to repeat that he’s really sorry for even suggesting they sleep together again. Ava calls out to him to go away because she doesn’t want to talk to him anymore. Connie holds Ava at knife point and orders her to tell Stefan to come in or else her words will be her last. Ava then tells Stefan to come in, so Stefan walks in to find Connie holding Ava at knife point. Connie tells Stefan it’s so nice to see him and to join the party.

Jada goes to the DiMera Mansion and calls in that there’s a heavy smell of smoke but no signs of fire. Jada says she’s going to do a thorough check and calls for units to be dispatched immediately. Jada hangs up and finds the bloody fireplace poker on the floor. Jada then sees the entry to the tunnels is opened and draws her gun.

EJ puts out the fire in the wine cellar and finds Melinda on the ground tied to the chair. Melinda coughs and tells EJ that it was Connie. Melinda tells EJ that she will survive and instructs him to go help Gabi. EJ then goes to check on Gabi while Melinda asks if Gabi is alive.

Mark finishes his call and claims that he was just telling a patient to follow up with Kayla. Kayla says she has a question while he’s there. Kayla brings up having Mark run the DNA test for her niece Abigail. Mark asks how she is. Kayla says she’s okay and adjusting, but she wants to make sure that he kept it in his sight the whole time. Mark assures that he did as she gave very strict orders and asks why. Kayla says she’s just family and Steve wants to make sure the test results were absolutely accurate. Mark claims he understands and that they have nothing to worry about as there was no way they were tampered with. Mark assures Kayla that “Abigail” is definitely her niece.

Chad tells “Abigail” that he can’t believe it as there was no way that she would know those words if she wasn’t there with him that day and if she wasn’t Abigail. Chad says he’s so happy that she remembers one of their happiest memories and says there are so many more to come. She claims she can’t wait for that day. Chad adds that he doesn’t think for a second that they will just go back to how they are and he’s not trying to pressure her, but admits it’s the most hope he’s had since he found out she was alive. “Abigail” claims to feel that too. Chad then gets a call and steps out to answer it.

EJ tries to wake Gabi up. Jada arrives and asks what happened. Melinda informs her that Connie set off a home made bomb and EJ arrived after to put out the fire. EJ says that Gabi needs to get to the hospital. Jada says units are on their way but EJ says there’s no time and declares he will take her, himself. Jada argues that’s not a good idea but EJ says they are going and carries Gabi out of the cellar.

Stefan asks Connie what the hell. She orders him to shut the door, so he does. Stefan questions what is going on here. Connie responds that she’s cleaning up and eliminating all the problem people in her life. Connie informs Stefan that he was next on her list. Stefan understands that she is upset that he and Ava slept together because of how loyal she is to Gabi. Connie then reveals she hates Gabi and she’s glad Stefan cheated on her, but she hates Stefan too for what he did to the only person she loves with all her heart, Li Shin. Connie shouts that Li being dead is all Stefan’s fault. Stefan says he’s lost. Connie argues that Gabi broke Li’s heart and destroyed him while Stefan helped her do it, so now he’s going to pay for it. Stefan understands she’s angry but says her beef is with him and Gabi, so he questions what it has to do with Ava. Connie complains that Ava told him that she faked her resume when she told her to keep her mouth shut. Ava insists that she didn’t tell him but Connie says she didn’t believe her. Connie declares that now she has to silence Ava for good and then Stefan is next.

“Abigail” listens to Mark’s voicemail. She then calls him back and asks if he has a second to chat. Mark says he’s sorry that he couldn’t get Clyde to back off. She says she figured he wouldn’t have much luck, so she stepped things up on her side by “remembering” her wedding vows with Chad. Mark questions how she pulled that off. “Abigail” explains that Chad mentioned a box of mementos in the attic, so she snuck in to find a paper with Abigail’s vows on it and she managed to memorize it before Chad got back. Mark calls it impressive while “Abigail” says she is highly motivated. She adds that Chad was so emotional and excited that she was able to recite the vows, so she felt awful and guilty for deceiving Chad like this because it feels incredibly cruel. Mark responds that he doesn’t like this either but they have to go through it as it’s the only option because their mom’s life is on the line. “Abigail” hangs up as Chad returns to the room. She asks if everything is okay. Chad informs her that he just got some bad news.

EJ sits at Gabi’s side in a hospital room as Kayla enters. EJ informs her that Gabi still hasn’t regained consciousness. Kayla talks about how much smoke Gabi inhaled and possible effects of a concussion. Kayla says she’s ordered a CT scan of her head to rule out a brain bleed. Kayla assures that Gabi is in good hands if EJ wants to go home and rest, but EJ declares that he’s staying here until he knows she’s okay. Gabi then wakes up and asks where she is and what happened.

Jada brings Melinda to the living room of the DiMera Mansion and gets her some water. Melinda tells Jada about Connie’s life-sized cardboard cutout of Li Shin. Jada confirms she saw it with her own eyes at the apartment as they realized Connie was holding Melinda hostage, but they didn’t know where she had taken her or if she was still alive. Jada says they started the search at her place. Melinda says they didn’t know they were on to Connie. Jada is just sorry they didn’t find her sooner. Melinda is just glad she found them when she did. Jada is sorry for everything Melinda has been through. Jada hopes Melinda is a little calmer now and asks what exactly Connie said when she left. Melinda recalls that Connie said she was going home to be with Li and then leaving town. Jada says if Connie tries to go home, she will find the place crawling with cops. Melinda adds that Connie mentioned having some loose ends to take care of first but she didn’t elaborate. Melinda asks if Jada can track her phone but Jada reveals that Connie ditched it for a burner phone. The ambulance then arrives for Melinda. Melinda remembers that Connie took Gabi’s phone. Jada says they can track that and it might be the break they need.

Stefan tells Connie that Ava knows about her resume being embellished, but she has no interest in staying at DiMera anyway so that won’t matter. Stefan repeats that her problem is with him and Gabi, not Ava. Stefan says this is all on him because everything that’s gone wrong in Connie’s life, starting with Gabi stealing the DiMera shares from Li was all his idea. Stefan remarks that they knew Li would fall for anything like Gabi getting kidnapped and calls Li a pathetic loser and a fool for pining after Gabi. Connie yells at him to stop. Stefan talks about how he and Gabi used to laugh at Li. Stefan calls Li a miserable waste of space and declares that the world is a better place without him. Connie then releases Ava and charges Stefan with the knife.

Chad informs “Abigail” that there was an explosion in the basement of the DiMera Mansion. Chad mentions that EJ was involved but he’s okay and he apparently had to take Gabi to the hospital as she looks to be seriously injured.

Gabi says she still can’t wrap her head around all of the horrible things Connie did and she feels like such a fool for not seeing the signs and for hiring her in the first place. EJ argues that Gabi can’t blame herself as Connie was obviously an expert at conning people. Gabi talks about how Connie worked so hard to ingratiate herself with her. Gabi says looking back, there was a desperation to it. EJ insists that Gabi couldn’t have known what Connie was capable of and it’s over now. Gabi recalls being surrounded by flames and so much smoke that she couldn’t breathe or see. EJ holds Gabi’s hand as she says she was sure she was going to die, but there he was just in time. Gabi declares that EJ saved her life.

Connie stabs Stefan in the arm while Ava grabs her own knife. Connie complains that Ava ruins everything and runs out of the room. Ava checks on Stefan, worrying that he’s bleeding heavily. Stefan says he’ll be fine. Ava acknowledges that Stefan saved her life.

Kayla brings Melinda to Mark at the hospital and asks him to give her a full examination as she’s suffering from smoke inhalation after being held hostage. Melinda calls Connie a homicidal lunatic and says she hopes the cops catch her so she will be locked up for eternity.

Connie exits the Brady Pub where she is caught by Jada, who orders her to drop her knife or she’ll shoot.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[phone ringing]

[gasps] Steve. Oh my goodness, I was so worried about you. I’m so glad you called. Listen, I know you got into the supermax, but– oh, you did talk to Clyde. Oh. Well, did you tell him about your doubts that you have about our niece being our niece?

[ominous music] Well, listen, not to sound like I told you so, but why wouldn’t he stonewall you? I mean, if there’s nothing in it for him, why would he give you any answers about Abigail?

Abby. What are you doing here? I just brought the kids home. They’re upstairs.

[sighs] I’m sorry. I– the door was unlocked, and I thought you would want to know. I– I remember something.

You did?

[exhales]

That’s– that’s great. What– what is it? What did you remember?

It was about you. Well, um, actually, it was about us.

[dramatic music]

Listen, I know you have your doubts. I do too. But until Abigail starts remembering something– no, I told you, we cannot do a DNA test on her without her consent. Listen, listen. Let’s just talk about it when you get back, all right? Mm. Mm-k. I love you. All right, get back safely. All right, bye-bye.

[phone beeps] Uh– oh, Jada, hi. I thought you went back to work.

Yeah, I was going to, but Rafe has been so agitated. You know, he’s threatening to check himself out against medical advice.

What? Why would he do that?

Because he is out of his mind with worry about his sister.

[ominous music]

I am hurt. I am very angry.

But I am not confused, not even one tiny bit. I know just what I want, and pretty soon, I’ll have it.

What– what about Li? Do you really want to defy him like this? I mean, he told you he didn’t want you to hurt us, right?

And you’ve been so good to me, Connie. Which is why I gave you a raise, which is why I put all of my faith and trust into you. Please, Connie, don’t throw it all away. I’ll give you whatever you want!

As much as I’ve enjoyed hearing both of you grovel, the answer is no.

Connie, please don’t. Don’t do this.

Bye-bye, ladies. Have a blast.

No. No!

[timer beeps]

Oh, God.

[breathing rapidly]

Oh, no.

[both screaming]

No, no!

[timer beeping]

[phone beeps]

Another apology? Another one not accepted. Ugh. How would you like to, uh, help me even the score by having sex with me again? Mm. You know, Gabi’s leading two to one. Come on, it’ll be fun. Ugh, God. What an ass.

[phone ringing]

[sighs]

[phone ringing]

[dramatic music]

[sighs]

Gabi, are you here? Guess not.

Is this blood? What the hell? What is going on here?

[both screaming]

[timer beeping]

Melinda, what’s happening with that thing? Can you see it?

Oh, my God, two minutes. It’s gonna blow in two minutes. What are we gonna do?

We’re gonna die.

No!

We’re gonna die!

[both screaming]

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[phone ringing]

[groans] Go to hell, Stefan. Seriously, you know, maybe your next restaurant manager would like to help you with your revenge sex tally. Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

[knocking] Oh, God, now what?

[eerie music] Connie.

– I can’t take your call right now…

[sighs] – But you know what to do.

[phone beeps]

Ava, hey. I, uh– I feel terrible about hurting your feelings and disrespecting you. I was a jerk, a total jerk. And I– I would really like another chance to apologize.

[soft dramatic music] You know what? No. Voicemail is not the way to go. I– I need to do this in person. I will see you soon.

[phone beeps]

Connie, what are you doing here?

Oh, just tying up a few loose ends. And I’m glad you’re in, since you’re next on my list.

Your list? What are you talking about?

Oh, come on, Ava. You think I don’t know that you’ve been trash talking me all over town, telling anyone who would listen how I was creative with my résumé? Very disappointing, Ms. Vitali, that you did not heed my warning. I mean, I did tell you, did I not, to keep your mouth shut?

[tense music]

Is there anything else you know about Ms. Vininski?

Oh, apart from the fact that she got me fired, Melinda says that the woman is a complete fraud and her résumé was a complete lie.

Really?

Mm-hmm.

You did tell on me, didn’t you?

No, I didn’t. I don’t know–

Liar. I asked you to keep quiet, but you sold me down the river. Now, I’ve already made sure that Melinda won’t be able to badmouth me to anyone else ever again.

Melinda? Oh, my God, wh–

And now, you won’t either.

[suspenseful music]

Hello, is someone down there?

[both screaming]

[speaking Spanish]

Hello, is anyone there?

[speaking Spanish]

What are you saying? Translation, please.

[grunting]

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death, glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

God. No! No!

[explosion]

[glass crashing]

OK. Chad, I was so moved when you recited your wedding vows to me. It really affected me. And– oh my God, no, no. This is so phony and cloying. Damn it. How am I supposed to keep doing this to him?

[sighs] Yesterday, Chad was reciting his wedding vows to me, and his words were just full of emotion and love, and I could feel it in my soul and–

Wait a second, Sis. Uh, don’t tell me you’re falling for him.

[scoffs] What? No, no, of course not. He’s a nice guy, Mark. He doesn’t deserve this.

No, I don’t disagree. Still–

[sighs] Still. I have to start remembering and make it convincing.

[soft dramatic music]

OK, we’re good. I told Julie you were here, and she’s gonna keep the kids upstairs.

Oh, good. I am so sorry. That was just incredibly thoughtless. It would have been terrible if they saw me here.

No, it’s– it’s OK. They didn’t, and they won’t. Um, Julie’s playing their favorite game with them, Connect Four, so…

Oh.

We’re good.

OK. OK, so what is it? What did you remember?

Um– Oh. I, um– Chad, I was really moved when you brought over the album and recited your wedding vows to me. It was– it really touched something inside me. And–

But I thought you said you didn’t remember anything.

Yeah, no, I didn’t. Not at first. And, um– and then I, you know, kept looking at the album and thinking about the words you said. And it was– it was like the Abigail you were talking about didn’t feel like a stranger to me anymore. It felt like– like she was inside me. I could hear the music. I could smell the flowers. I could taste the wedding cake. And then I saw you standing in front of me, saying those words to me for the first time.

And all of a sudden, my vows started spilling out of me, Chad. I remembered them.

[laughs] I remembered them.

[laughter]

This is exactly what I have prayed for.

[tense music]

So, Ava, you seem surprised to see me.

I am, actually. How did you know where I live?

[chuckles] That was simple. I just got your information off the DiMera contact sheet before you were fired. See, I like to keep track of little things like that, just in case.

Mm. OK, so, Connie, I’m not gonna tell Gabi anything about your résumé. OK? I promise you. She got me fired. I never liked her anyway. So as far as I am concerned, I never even saw you. You’re not gonna have a problem. Not from me.

Yeah, well, Gabi and I, we’re parting ways. She’s in the past now.

I didn’t know that.

Well, now you do. See, I’m off to start a new life with my boyfriend, but I can’t have everyone thinking I’m a fraud, Ava. First off, if it isn’t true. I have lots of skills. And I’m a very conscientious worker. I’m an amazing employee.

Yes, of course you are, Connie, of course. And you know what? I actually– I have heard that you are very efficient and very conscientious.

Now you’re just sucking up so that I won’t hurt you, but I see right through you, Ava Vitali.

No, no, no, no. I am not sucking up. I swear. I have heard that you are a stellar employee and that you are very–

Who did you blab to? Who were you gossiping to about my work history?

No one. I swear to you, I was not–

Are you sure you didn’t tell your good friend Stefan? Because I know how close you two are.

Stefan? No, we are not even that close. And I didn’t say anything to him, not about you.

I don’t believe you. You’re lying. I can see it in your eyes. You’re a bad liar. I know you told him.

OK, OK, OK. Let’s say that I did say something, which I did not. I don’t think it’s even gonna register for him. He has so many more important things on his mind right now. OK, let’s say he did know. OK? I really don’t think he would care. So he’s certainly not gonna tell Gabi. He’s not gonna tell anyone.

Yeah, well, I trust that philandering creep about as much as I trust you. In fact, he’s my next stop, once I’m through with you.

[knocking] – Ava, hey. You in there? It’s me, Stefan.

How convenient. Someone just saved me a trip.

So you’re telling me that this lady, Connie, stabbed Rafe and killed Li Shin?

That’s our working theory.

Oh, my God.

And considering what this woman is capable of, there’s a chance we might be adding Melinda’s name to that list.

Well, no wonder Rafe is so worried about Gabi. Have you still not been able to reach her?

No. Rafe left her a message hours ago, and we haven’t heard back, but I’ve got people out there trying to track her down.

Oh, I hope she’s OK. I mean, she’s– I mean, Rafe has been through so much already. I–

Yeah, he has. I mean, being this upset cannot be good for his health. Kayla, he is going out of his mind, like I said.

Well, I could give him a mild sedative.

I think that would be a good idea.

Well, what about Connie? Do you think that she left town? Do you think that, now that you’re on to her, she knows?

No, honestly, I’m not even sure if she knows that we’re on to her yet, but she’s gonna know soon enough. I have every available cop out there searching for her. And Kristen told me that she saw her at the park earlier today, so there’s a possibility she might still be in Salem.

I hope you find her, soon.

Yeah, me too. Listen, thank you for looking after Rafe, OK? I’m gonna go join the search for Gabi.

OK. Oh, wow.

[suspenseful music]

[groaning]

[groans] What the–?

[coughing]

All right. Aw. Got a little– got a little excited there. My– my heart was pounding.

Oh, yeah.

Or is pounding. Is pounding.

Mine, too.

I’m nervous.

[laughs nervously]

Um. OK. So how much of, uh– of the vows do you remember?

Pretty much all of them. I mean, I might get a word or two wrong, but I can try to recite them if you’d like me to.

What, if I’d like you to? Yeah. I would love– I would love that.

OK. OK.

OK.

All right. Here it goes. They say– um.

[soft dramatic music]

It’s OK. Just take your time.

Um… They say that when you meet someone and you fall in love with them, you’re drawn to them because they have something unique.

And that’s why we’re here today. Because I need you, Chad. I need your courage. I need your love. I need your faith, your faith in us.

I’m beyond grateful that I get a second chance at life, with you and our beautiful children, our entire family.

You’re the love of my life, Chad. There’s nothing that I want more than… to spend the rest of my days with you.

[phone beeps]

Hey, sis. Uh, it’s me. I just want to let you know that I got in to see Clyde.

[ominous music]

[sighs] I tried to tell him to stop pressuring you, but he pushed back, hard. He’s desperate for you to marry Chad again, ASAP. Oh, and you should know I had a near miss with Abigail’s Uncle Steve. Yeah. Uh, don’t worry. He didn’t see anything.

[knocking] – Ava, please open the door. Look, I know you’re in there. I saw your car parked outside. Look. I know I’ve already apologized, but I think it bears repeating. I am really, really sorry for even suggesting that you and I sleep together again.

OK, just go away, Stefan. I don’t want to talk to you anymore.

Oh, but you do want to talk to him. You’re gonna tell him to come in here, or your next words will be your last. – Ava, please.

All right. Come on in. The door is open.

[suspenseful music]

Oh, God.

Mr. DiMera, so nice to see you. Please, join the party.

I’m at the DiMera house. There’s a heavy smell of smoke, but there’s no signs of any flames on the first floor and no occupants on the scene, but there were two cars in the garage. I’m gonna do a thorough check. Dispatch units immediately.

[phone beeps]

[sighs]

[ominous music]

[coughing] Melinda.

[coughs]

What the hell is going on? What are you doing down here?

Connie. Connie Vininski. No, no, no, no, no. Go. Go help Gabi.

Gabi?

[coughs] There.

Are you OK? Are you sure you’re OK?

I’ll survive.

[coughs]

Gabi?

[suspenseful music] Gabi? Gabi, come on. Open your eyes. Gabi, can you hear me? It’s EJ. Gabi!

EJ? Is she–

[coughs]

Oh, here is Dr. Johnson now. I’ll let her know. No problem. Kayla, hey. Uh, I was just telling a patient to follow up with you. I’m sure you’ll be hearing from her very soon.

Oh, great. Thank you very much. Listen, as long as you’re here, I just have a little question for you.

Shoot.

Well, remember when I gave you that DNA test? You know, you were gonna run it for me for my– for my niece.

Yeah. Uh, Abigail, right?

Yeah.

How is she?

Um, She’s OK. You know, she’s adjusting. But I just– I just want to make sure that, um, you absolutely kept it in your sight the whole time. And I mean, there wasn’t even an instant that you let it out of your sight.

No. No, never. You gave very strict marching orders. Why?

Well, you know, she’s family. And, um, you know, given the circumstances, my husband, he just wants to make sure that the test results were, you know, absolutely accurate.

I completely understand. He has nothing to worry about, nor do you. I took those samples to the lab myself, and I was there the entire time. There’s no way they were tampered with.

Great.

[ominous music]

Um, rest assured, that woman is most definitely your niece.

I just can’t believe it. I mean, I can’t– there’s no way that you would know any of those words if you weren’t– if you weren’t there with me that day– if you weren’t you.

No, of course not.

Ooh. I am so happy that you remember one of our happiest memories. I mean, there’s so many more to come.

I can’t wait till that day.

[laughs]

And I– listen, I don’t– I don’t– I don’t think for a second that– that, um– that we’re just gonna go right back to the way we were. You know? And again, I don’t want to– I’m not trying to pressure you. Uh…

But that’s the most hope I’ve had since I found out that you were alive.

Yeah, I feel that too.

[phone ringing]

Um, you can check that. No?

Ah. OK, I got to take it.

OK. It’s OK.

[phone ringing]

This is Chad. What’s up?

I’ll be right back.

[sighs]

Gabi? Gabi, can you hear me?

[coughing] Oh, my God. What happened?

Connie Vininski, she set up a homemade bomb.

A bomb?

Yeah. EJ got here after it went off. He put out the fire.

[coughs]

Gabi has a head injury. We need to get her to the hospital now.

The first responders are on the way.

No, there’s no time. I’ll take her myself.

EJ, that’s not a good idea!

We’re going. It’s OK, Gabi. We’ll get you the help you need.

[coughing]

Connie. What the hell is–

Shut the door, now.

[suspenseful music]

OK.

What is going on here. What are you doing?

Well, in a nutshell, I’m cleaning up. I’m eliminating all the problem people in my life, and lucky for me, the next person on my list just came knocking at the door. That’s you, in case you’re wondering.

Let’s be reasonable here. I understand you were upset that Ava and I slept together because of how loyal you are to Gabi.

What? Loyal to Gabi? I hate that little slut. I’m glad you cheated on her. And I hate you, too, Stefan DiMera, for what you did to my boyfriend, the only person that I’m loyal to, who I love with all my heart!

I’m sorry. I’m not understanding. What boyfriend?

Li Shin. Hello!

Li Shin? Li’s dead.

Exactly. And it’s all your fault!

OK, now I’m really lost.

You and Gabi with your grand plans. You think I didn’t know what you two were doing? She broke his heart, and she destroyed him. And you helped her do it, and now you’re going to pay for it.

OK. All right. I think I understand now. You’re angry, and I get it. OK, but your beef is with me and Gabi. OK? What does this have to do with Ava?

Well, this two-faced liar told you I faked my résumé when I explicitly told her to keep her mouth shut!

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Connie, Connie, I didn’t. I didn’t. I told you I didn’t tell.

And I told you I didn’t believe you. So now I have to silence her for good. And then you’re next.

– Oh, and here is Dr. Johnson now. I will let her know. No problem.

[phone beeps]

[keys clacking]

[phone beeps]

[phone ringing]

Hello.

Hey. You have a second to chat?

Yeah. Sorry that I couldn’t get Clyde to back off.

Yeah, I kind of figured you wouldn’t have much luck in that area, so I stepped things up on my side. I remembered my wedding vows with Chad.

Wow. Uh, how’d you pull that one off?

Chad mentioned that there was a box of mementos from their wedding, said it was in the attic. I was able to sneak in, found it, luckily, while he was away, and there was a piece of paper with Abigail’s vows written on it. I memorized it right before he got back.

Impressive.

Yeah, well, I’m highly motivated. Anyway, Chad was so emotional and excited when I was able to recite the vows. I mean, he had tears in his eyes, and I just felt awful and so guilty. I know that I’ve been deceiving him all along, but somehow, deceiving him like this, it feels incredibly and especially cruel.

Look, I don’t like this either. You know that. We have to go through with it. It’s the only option. Mom’s life is on the line.

[soft dramatic music]

Gotta go.

[phone beeps]

Hey, is everything OK?

No, actually. I just got some bad news.

Hi.

She still hasn’t regained consciousness.

Well, she took in quite a bit of smoke. You know, um, a concussion can cause altered consciousness for some time, even if there’s not a serious underlying issue, which she may have sustained, unfortunately, which is why I’ve ordered a CT scan of her head just to rule out any kind of brain bleed.

Brain bleed?

Well, it’s just a precaution. Listen, she’s in good hands, if you want to go home and get some rest.

I’m staying right here until I know she’s OK.

Gabi. Thank God.

EJ?

Where am I? What happened?

[coughing] You won’t believe this, but, um, Connie had this life-sized cardboard cutout of Li Shin.

Oh, I believe it. In fact, I saw it with my own eyes.

[ominous music]

You went to the apartment?

We realized that Connie was holding you hostage, but we didn’t know where she had taken you.

[wheezes]

We didn’t even know if you were still alive. So we started the search at her place.

Connie had no idea you were onto her? Neither did I.

I’m just so sorry that we didn’t find you sooner.

Yeah, me too. But I’m glad you found us when you did.

[chuckles] And it’s a good thing Connie’s no Oppenheimer ’cause this whole house would have come tumbling down.

I am so sorry, Melinda, for everything that you’ve been through.

Yeah. Me too.

Well, now that you’re a little calmer– at least I hope so– can I ask you again, when Connie left, what exactly did she say?

Um, she said that she was going home to be with Li, and then leaving town.

Well, if she does try to go home, she’s going to find the place crawling with cops.

Oh, she mentioned something about, um, having some– some loose ends to, uh, take care of first.

Do you know what those might be?

She didn’t elaborate, but, um, can’t you just track her phone? Surely you have probable cause.

No. She ditched it for a burner.

[sirens blaring] Sounds like your ride’s here.

[sirens blaring]

I just remembered. Connie took Gabi’s phone with her before she left.

OK, now that we can work with. I couldn’t track Gabi’s phone before because there was no signal in the DiMera’s secret room, but this just might be the break that we need.

OK, look. Ava knows about your résumé being slightly embellished. OK, but, really, you have no interest in staying on at DiMera anyway, right? So what does that matter? And you have a problem with me and Gabi, right? Right? Not Ava.

Stefan–

So really, Connie, Connie, this is all on me. This is all on me because everything that has gone wrong in your life, everything, starting from Gabi stealing those DiMera shares from Li, that was all my idea. And seriously, we knew that that idiot would fall for anything, especially Gabi getting kidnapped.

Shut up!

And Li Shin, what a pathetic loser he is. I mean– sorry, was– that that fool was pining for a woman who would never, ever love him back, not in a million years. I mean, what a joke.

Stop it!

Right?

Gabi and I, we– we used to laugh about this behind his back. I mean, Li and– and Gabi, that is ridiculous. I mean, Li Shin, what a miserable waste of space he was, pompous jerk. And I’m sorry, I’m gonna come right out and say it. The world is a better place without him.

No!

What bad news? What happened?

There was an explosion at the mansion, uh, in the basement.

Oh, my God.

Yeah, it’s shocking. My brother EJ was involved, but he’s OK. And, um, EJ apparently had to take Gabi to the hospital. It looks like she’s seriously injured.

[ominous music]

I still can’t wrap my head around it, all the horrible things that Connie did. I feel like such a fool for not seeing the signs, for– for hiring her in the first place.

You can’t blame yourself, Gabi. The woman was obviously an expert at conning people.

Yeah. But the way that she worked so hard to ingratiate herself with me. When I look back on it, there was a desperation to it.

And hindsight is / in this case. You couldn’t have known what that woman was capable of. And it’s over now, thank God.

Yeah.

[coughs]

[soft dramatic music] Thank God.

And EJ…

when that rubble came down on me… and I was surrounded by all the flames… and God, there was just so much smoke. And– and I couldn’t breathe.

And I couldn’t see, and everything was so black.

I was sure I was gonna die.

Hey.

And there you were, just in time.

You saved my life.

[clears throat]

[groans]

No. Don’t even think about it.

You ruined everything, just like last time.

Hey.

[groans] Damn it.

Stefan. Oh, Stefan, you are bleeding like crazy.

I’ll be fine. You OK?

Yeah.

[suspenseful music] You saved my life.

Yeah.

Dr. Greene, can you take care of Ms. Trask? She needs a full workup. She’s suffering from smoke inhalation and the effects from being held hostage.

Hostage?

By a homicidal lunatic who’s in love with a cardboard cutout. I just hope the police can catch her and that she’ll be locked up for an eternity and beyond.

[wheezes]

Hold it right there, Connie! Drop the knife, or I’ll shoot.

Stefan asked EJ if he slept with Gabi again. EJ decided to play coy with him until he warned him that he would testify against him. He admitted that he didn’t sleep with Gabi again. EJ called Stefan out for destroying his marriage by sleeping with Ava in the first place. Stefan was upset about EJ’s comments. He realized that EJ and Gabi had to have slept together that morning. Stefan realized that Gabi was ahead of him by one incident. He asked Ava if she wanted to help hm even the score. Ava wasn’t happy about his offer. He said they had a reason to get revenge on Gabi. Stefan wanted to flaunt their affair in front of her. Ava was offended by his offer and wanted him to shove his friendship and his job. He apologized for the suggestion. Stefan said that EJ and Gabi made him mad. She thought that a lot of women would want to help him get his revenge. Ava stormed off. Gabi was unconscious and seated next to Melinda in the wine cellar. Melinda tried to reason with Connie. Connie wanted to blow up the DiMera mansion. She walked out to get supplies. Melinda shouted at Gabi until she woke up. She told her about what happened, and they tried to escape. Gabi noticed her phone on the floor and scrambled to get it when she saw EJ calling her. Kristen talked to Chad about her suspicions about Abby. She warned him to be careful when it concerned her. Abby found Mark and showed him the text she got from Clyde demanding that she marry Chad. Mark thought she should do what he said. She was afraid that Chad would see through her even if she could convince him to marry her. He thought it was better than the consequences that would happen if she didn’t do it. She realized Clyde held the cards, but she felt bad for Chad. Mark wondered if she was developing feelings for him. She denied having feelings for him. Abby thought he was a nice guy that didn’t deserve what they were doing to him. Mark agreed with her, but he thought they should stick with the plan. She knew she had to be convincing, but she worried about Clyde. Mark said he would deal with him.

Steve visited Clyde in prison. He talked to him about Abby and how he and Goldman helped her after the accident. Steve wondered how John ended up in the same place as Abby. Clyde thought his people were working for another person. Steve didn’t believe him. Clyde was about to leave when Steve offered to get him out of there if answered a few more questions truthfully. Clyde laughed at him because he knew it was a bluff. He wanted the guard to get Steve. After Steve left, Mark showed up at the prison. Chad got defensive when Kristen warned him about Abby. He walked away to take a call when she saw Connie. Kristen confronted her about going to Gabi about Stefan and Ava. She warned Connie to watch herself at work. Connie mumbled under her breath that she needed to watch her step. She walked away. Chad came back and told Kristen there was an APB out for Gabi’s assistant. Kristen called the police. EJ left a voicemail for Gabi. He would have liked a warning about Stefan confronting him about sleeping with Gabi again. EJ felt like they needed to get their stories together. Gabi saw that EJ called her. She hoped that he would come looking for her. Gabi told Melinda that she slept with EJ and almost did it again that morning. It didn’t happen, but she told Stefan they were together. Melinda reminded her that they were in danger. Gabi tried to get to the phone. She was worried that she would die before Stefan could find out. Melinda wondered if she was going to say that she still loved him. Chad brought the kids home and was surprised to see Abby. She studied a piece of paper and hid it. Abby told him that she remembered something. Mark told Clyde to stop pressuring his sister because people will get suspicious. Clyde told him that Abby needed to work faster with Chad to get the DiMera fortune. He told him to get Abby to marry Chad or they would never see their mother again. EJ got a drink and noticed the bloody poker on the floor. Connie went back to the cellar and took Gabi’s phone. She pulled out a homemade bomb from her bag. Gabi and Melinda tried to reason with her, but Connie wouldn’t listen to them. She pressed the button on the bomb. They screamed while squirming in their chairs. The bomb started counting down.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

EJ told Paulina that she would look like a fool if she fired him because no one would be as good as he was. Paulina said she would replace him with Melinda. EJ said Melinda was gone and possibly had her fill of politics. Paulina reminded him that he stole a baby to which he said he allegedly stole a baby. He said they were in-laws who didn’t need the scandal, but she said if Stefan was right about what he knew, she couldn’t save him. Jada went to Connie’s apartment with another officer. When they went in the apartment, they saw blood on the floor. Jada followed the blood on the floor and saw the cardboard of Li in Connie’s room. While in Connie’s room, she noticed the ropes on the bed frame and figured out that Connie held someone captive. When Jada and the police officer searched for evidence, they found Melinda’s pocketbook. They wondered if Melinda was there and if so where was she. Jada put out an APB on Connie and Melinda and wanted to find out what Connie did with Melinda. Connie had a knife in her hand and confessed to Gabi that she stabbed Rafe. A shocked Gabi said it wasn’t true because Everett was the one who stabbed Rafe. Connie said Bobby asked her to take care of Rafe so he could be with Jada. Gabi decided to keep Connie talking while she tried to get her phone. When Gabi accused Connie of killing Bobby, Connie said she did because he was going to snitch on her. Gabi asked Connie what she did. Connie admitted to killing Li. She told Gabi that she framed her by sending her a text the night Li died. Connie said Gabi was stupid enough to fall for her trap then and to fall for her trap now. A curious Gabi asked why Connie framed her. Connie said she hated the way Gabi and Stefan treated Li and played with his emotions. She said she loved Li and had a great date with him. If it weren’t for Gabi, they would have had a wonderful life together. Thanks to Gabi’s actions, Li couldn’t fall in love again. Connie said she tried to convince Li to love again, but Gabi ruined him. She said Gabi was the one who deserved to die.

When Connie tried to attack Gabi with the knife, Gabi got out of the way. Gabi grabbed the knife and ran, but Connie went after her. Connie caught up to Gabi and dragged her into the wine cellar where Melinda was tied up. She tied Gabi up to a chair and took Melinda’s gag off. Melinda wanted to know where they were. Connie told her they were at the DiMera wine cellar. Since Melinda was still alive when she tried to kill Gabi, Connie decided to kill them together. Melinda asked why Connie didn’t kill her when they were in the apartment. Connie said she would never ruin her and Li’s love nest by killing her. She said she and Li would be together as soon as she killed Melinda and Gabi. Melinda told Connie that she didn’t want to kill again because LI didn’t want her to kill again. Connie appreciated her concern, but she could kill them both and get away with it. Melinda said the police would look down there eventually, but Connie said they wouldn’t find anything because the two of them and everything else in the house were about to be incinerated. Rafe tried to call Gabi, but she didn’t answer. Jada showed up and told him Connie wasn’t found, but might have had something to do with Li’s murder. She told him what she found in Connie’s apartment. Jada called and found out Gabi didn’t go to work. Rafe hoped Gabi took the day off to be with Stefan, but Jada said they split up because Stefan cheated on her with Ava. Paulina went to Connie’s apartment and talked to the police officer. The officer told her that Connie held Melinda hostage, but they haven’t found Melinda or Connie. Paulina saw the cardboard of Li in Connie’s bed. Ava told Stefan that she wasn’t taking the job at the Bistro because she knew he and Gabi would make up. Stefan said Gabi could rot for all he cared. Ava said he would take her back if she apologized. While they were talking, he got a call from Gabi which he ignored because he thought she was rubbing it in that she was sleeping with EJ. He tried to entice Ava to work with him at the Bistro and offered her a manager position. She decided to take the job. When they went to the Bistro, Ava said she wasn’t sure about taking the job because Gabi wouldn’t like it. Stefan said Gabi was dead to him. Ava said Gabi may be out of his life, but she went through this with Rafe and Harris so she was prepared for Stefan to go back to Gabi. Stefan said that wouldn’t happen because Gabi was with EJ that morning. EJ showed up and saw Stefan and Ava together. He thought Stefan assumed he would be in jail since he told Paulina that he stole Nicole’s baby. EJ reminded Stefan that Gabi came on to him. Stefan asked EJ about what happened that morning. EJ said there was no this morning to which Stefan said that wasn’t what Gabi told him. He told Stefan that Gabi lied to him about what happened.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Gabi told you we had sex this morning?

Well, she referred to it more as a marathon.

[sighs]

Why? You’re not actually going to sit here and deny it, are you?

I’m not saying anything.

OK, then let me rephrase my very simple question. This morning, did you or did you not sleep with my wife?

[tense music]

[sighs]

It wasn’t easy getting either of you down here without being spotted.

[chuckles] But now that you’re both here, it’s awfully convenient. Two bitches with one stone, if you will.

[chuckles] And no messy cleanup, no worry about the police finding any evidence.

Why not? They’re bound to look down here eventually.

Well, they can look all they like, but they won’t find anything. By the time I’m finished, you’ll both be incinerated, along with everything else in this house.

That’s crazy talk, Connie. You know it is. You don’t want to do this.

[giggles] Reduced to ashes, blown to bits. This entire house will be a pile of rubble. The DiMera mansion will be your tomb.

[dramatic music]

Chad.

Hi, Kristen.

Hi. Well, as treasurer of the Salem Elementary PTA, I wanted to say thank you for subjecting yourself to the dreaded dunk tank. Not all heroes wear capes, and in your case, a shirt.

Great, thank you. Next time, why don’t you go ahead and put your money in the donation box? Three bull’s eyes, really? I’m going to be wet for a week.

I couldn’t resist.

[laughs] Even if you are my least unfavorite brother.

Yeah. Well, thank you.

Oh, you can never take a compliment, can you? Did you see Rachel and Thomas at the ticketing booth with their heads together? Plotting to take over the world, I assume.

Yeah, or the snack bar. I’m not sure which one’s worse.

Yeah, definitely. I thought Abigail might be here.

No. Why would she be here? The kids don’t even know she’s back.

And how long do you think that can go on for?

As long as it takes, Kristen.

Oh, OK. You know, just– for her not to remember her own children?

Yeah, look– OK. I’m happy to report that she’s actually getting some memories back.

Oh.

OK.

[birds chirping]

Sis, what– you know we’re not supposed to be seen together.

I know. I know. I’m sorry. I had no choice. Last night, I got this text message from Clyde Weston.

[dramatic music]

I’m here, sweetness. Yeah. Never thought I’d want to work so hard to get into SuperMax, huh? Well, the only visitor Weston is allowed is his attorney, so Shane pulled some strings for me with the warden. Now I’m in wait mode. When have I ever not been careful? Fair point.

[laughs] OK, baby, I’ll keep you posted. I love you too.

[phone beeps]

[clears throat]

[door clicks]

[tense music]

Clyde Weston.

We need to have a talk.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[chuckles] Well, as I live and breathe, Steve Johnson. How’s it going in the fair city of Salem?

Well, crime rate’s down now that you’re gone.

Imagine that. Your boy? How’s Hong Kong treating him?

No, no, no, no. I’m not here to talk about my son. I’m here to talk about–

Your pretty niece, Abigail.

[tense music]

[sighs]

Damn.

Yeah. Damn is right. All of a sudden, I have a timeline for when I have to have Chad marching down the aisle? How am I supposed to do that?

Well, you know the answer. You have to do what Clyde says. Marry the man ASAP.

Oh, God.

[sighs]

[dramatic music]

You told me that Abigail remembered her death. Now, does she remember anything about her life?

We’re working on it.

OK. I mean, that’s great. That’s great. And we are all in your corner.

Once more. Try it with some sincerity, please.

Sincerity?

Yeah.

Sincerity. I am being very sincere. It’s just–

Just what?

It seems that Abigail isn’t exactly champing at the bit to spend more time with you or with her own children. And I just think that’s a little odd, don’t you think?

No, I don’t, actually. And it’s none of your business, Kristen.

Oh, but it is. I mean, indirectly. You see, Rachel has been begging to have Charlotte and Thomas over for a swim, and I am running out of excuses to give her. And also, I live with this woman. And if she does turn out to be an impostor–

Yeah, except she’s not. We did a DNA test. It’s Abigail.

OK, assuming– assume– just assuming it’s– it is legit. Oh God, Chad. I mean, unless you’re keeping this to yourself, I mean–

[clears throat]

Don’t you want to know, I mean, how she survived this brutal stabbing or where she’s been for the last two years, or, I mean, what Clyde’s motives were in keeping her on ice all this time?

You know what, I’m really resenting you being so negative right now.

I’m not being negative.

Yes, you are.

No, I’m not. I’m having a healthy skepticism. That’s all I’m having right now. It’s healthy. It’s because I care about you, Chad. I care about you, and I don’t want to see you get hurt.

[sighs] So just tread carefully, hm? That’s all I have to say.

[sighs]

You already know I slept with Gabi once, and you made it abundantly clear that you don’t want her back. So what possible difference could it make to you if we, for lack of a more graceful way to put it, hooked up again in the morning?

You know damn well why it matters, because she is still my wife.

Right, right. And so you’re solidly on the moral high ground because you’ve never slept with your brother’s wife and cheated on Gabi only once, or so you claim.

[sighs] OK, I’m not even going to dignify that with a response. I will only say that if you are still sleeping with my wife, what is to stop me from testifying against you that little Jude Brady, who you claimed was your offspring, is actually Eric’s, and that you hid his paternity from Eric and the rest of the world, huh? So, EJ, why don’t you picture me holding a jury spellbound with your tales of depravity, and then answer the question.

[inhales sharply] Fine. Fine. Gabi and I didn’t sleep together this morning.

[tense music]

[sighs] So you’re saying that my wife lied to me?

Wake up, sweetheart. You don’t want to miss your last few miserable moments on Earth.

Connie, please. You’ve kept me alive all this time. It is not too late to do the right thing, please. And I swear I will keep my mouth shut about everything, everything that you’ve done.

Oh, you definitely will. Because after today, you won’t be able to open your mouth ever again. Neither of you will. And the world will owe me a big, fat thank you.

[dramatic music]

I cannot just snap my fingers and get Chad to marry me. He’s not going to marry a complete stranger.

Why not? He’s desperate to get his old life back.

And I can’t give him that.

[tense music] Sorry, I’m– Mark, I’m just having a really hard time, OK? This is harder than I thought it was going to be. Yes, Chad lives for a miracle, but there is only so much that man is going to believe. How many details are there of Abigail and his private life that only he knows? I have done my research, yes. But eventually, he’s going to see through me. And when that happens, this is all over. This is all over.

Well, if someone sees through you before you get him down the aisle, the consequences are a hell of a lot worse.

[sighs] I know. I know.

[groans] And I’m worried. I’m worried that somebody is going to be Uncle Steve. God, if he doesn’t stop asking questions–

Don’t tell me you haven’t found Abigail yet. Steve, maybe you’re not the PI you think you are.

Oh, we found her, all right.

Well, damn. I was hoping to use that info as leverage to get me out of this joint.

Come on. Don’t play dumb with me. You know exactly what’s going on with Abigail. You were talking on the phone with her just the other day.

Now, how could I do that, Steve? They don’t allow any phone calls here or visitors, or even a lousy newspaper.

I’m visiting you, aren’t I? And it wouldn’t be the first time you found your way around the rules.

Yeah, well, you got me there. But even if I did have a workaround here, I’m the last person in the world Abigail would talk to. She’d never take my call.

Unless she’s not really Abigail.

Yeah, look, I understand you have a naturally suspicious mind. But if Abigail coming back was some sort of hoax, what do you theorize the point would actually be?

Oh, well, maybe she’s out to nab a handsome guy from a very rich and powerful family.

OK, so she’s after my money. OK, so if she’s after my money, then why does she insist on living apart or have no recollection of our relationship?

Well, maybe she is just reeling you in slowly.

Slowly?

Yeah.

OK, she’s moving in reverse, practically. OK, so if her MO is to weasel her way into the DiMera family–

Mm-hmm.

–she needs a new plan.

Hm. Look at that, bottled in . That was before you were born, right? Pretty close, anyway. See if you can rouse sleepyhead over there. I’ve got to go out and gather a few supplies. Don’t go anywhere while I’m gone, OK?

[door clicks]

Gabi. Gabi. Wake up. Gabi!

[groans]

Melinda?

What– what’s– what’s going on? Where are we?

We are in the basement of your house, being held hostage by your psychotic assistant.

Connie?

Yeah, I didn’t really take a leave of absence. She sent that text message from my phone. She’s been keeping me hostage in her apartment with a cardboard cutout of Li Shin.

What?

Yeah. She killed Li. She stabbed your brother Rafe.

She framed Everett. She faked his suicide.

She confessed that to you?

Upstairs, yeah.

[groans] Before she knocked me out.

Oh my God. I went to prison because of that crazy bitch!

Well, did that crazy bitch also tell you that she blames everyone for Li’s death except for herself? And she is especially infuriated with us and Stefan.

Then why is she keeping us alive?

She’s not. She’s planning on blowing us up when she gets back here, us and this entire house.

No. No. No. No! No, we can’t let her do that. We’ve got to get out of here!

[screaming]

I’m not saying that Gabi was lying.

Then what are you saying?

I’m simply saying that this is between you and her. But be warned, I am not going to stand idly by while you try– emphasis on try– to put me away because you cheated on your wife with the likes of her.

[tense music] I mean, it’s one thing to have no morals, but your utter lack of taste is just– oh my God, Stefan. It’s just appalling. Good day.

[chuckles softly]

[sighs] That smug son of a bitch, talking out of both sides of his face.

Ah. Well, focus on the positive, huh? At least he didn’t sleep with Gabi again, right?

Oh, yeah. That cheers me up to no end, Ava.

[sighs] I mean, especially because he said that Gabi wasn’t lying when she said that they slept together.

OK, come on. You didn’t–

So which is it?

I don’t know. You didn’t expect to get a clear answer from that guy, did you?

So what, what, what, what? All that bravado was just a bluff? OK, look, I know that EJ is terrified to go to prison, so of course he’s going to tell me what I want to hear. But I know for sure he and Gabi had to have slept together this morning.

Which makes me realize that Gabi now leads me -, so–

So what?

Care to help me even the score?

[dramatic music]

[sighs] I just– I can’t believe I was so clueless. When Stephanie walked in and overheard what I was saying to you on the phone, I completely spaced. I forgot that Dr. Johnson was her mother. Otherwise, I would have come up with a better cover story, obviously.

Look, you didn’t know that Stephanie was going to go blab to Kayla. And besides, there’s not many people you could have plausibly been talking to.

I know, but I– I just– it’s so easy to slip up, especially for me. I’m not built for this.

But you’re doing better than you think. Like I’ve reminded you, we have to keep this up. We have no choice.

I know. I do think that I convinced Chad that I was just confused.

Good.

But Uncle Steve is an entirely different story.

[sighs] Relax. Yeah, he may be suspicious, but there’s no way that he can prove anything. We’ll figure this out. We have to.

Yes, we do, because Clyde holds all the cards.

[tense music]

Now, why would you think that this woman who claims to be Abigail is an impostor?

Well, for one thing, she looks nothing like my niece. She’s got a brand-new face, which you know about. Because according to Abigail, you and Officer Goldman were taking care of her in Poplar Bluff before you were locked up.

Yeah, we sure did after that tragic accident.

Yeah, well, whatever happened to her, the bottom line is she could be anyone.

Not if a DNA test was done, and I assume it was.

Yeah, yeah, a good test.

And you doubt the results because?

Well, mainly because my gut tells me something’s just not right. And also, there’s a very big hole in this story.

Wow. Hey, OK. You know what, that is exactly what every girl wants to hear. “Hey, hey. You want to have a quickie? I’m trying to even the score with my wife.”

OK. All right.

Mm-hmm.

I can see where that would be offensive, although technically I didn’t use the word “quickie.”

Yeah. I inferred that.

Well, you inferred incorrectly.

Mm.

And need I remind you, you are Ava Vitali, OK? You are the last person to forgive and forget when somebody does you dirty. So let me refresh your memory here, OK? Gabi had you fired. Gabi is the reason you’re behind on your rent. And Gabi basically condemned you to a life of slinging corned beef hash.

[laughs] Right. Until you swept in and you saved me from all of this, right?

No, no, no. My point is you and I have more than enough reason to want to get revenge on Gabi. And if we want to have a little fun in the process, what’s the harm in that, huh? So why don’t we grab a bottle of Chateau Margaux, head back to the mansion, and if you need a little more encouragement, close your eyes and think of the look on Gabi’s face when we walk up the stairs together, sipping our champagne, leaving a trail of clothing in our wake. What do you say?

[chuckles]

[grunts] Any ideas on how to escape?

Well, there’s no use in yelling and screaming. This place is soundproof. I found that out the hard way.

Oh, you’re a regular beacon of hope.

OK. Just let me think, OK? Let me think.

OK.

[grunts]

Wait.

Huh?

OK. The DiMeras are all lushes. They’re always coming down here for wine and champagne.

Yeah, well, any minute Connie is going to be coming back here with the ingredients to make a bomb. We don’t have time to wait for someone to get thirsty.

You asked for hope, didn’t you?

Yeah, but not the false kind, OK? Damn it! I can’t believe you hired that nutcase. I just wish you’d checked some references instead of letting her kiss-ass her way to that job.

That is not why I hired her.

Oh, yeah.

And how the hell could I have known she was a homicidal maniac? She happened to be very helpful and efficient.

Oh, yeah, blowing up your marriage was real helpful.

I needed to know the truth.

[scoffs]

And damn it, Melinda, we can’t turn on each other now, OK? We have to find a way out of this together.

My phone.

Where?

Look.

Where?

Right there, right there. Look. OK. OK.

OK.

I have to find a way– I have to find a way to get over there. OK.

[phone ringing] It’s EJ.

[laughs]

It’s EJ. It’s EJ. OK.

All right. Well, I’ve said my piece. I tried to warn you, though to no avail, obviously.

Nope, none.

All right, I have one more question.

I have to go to work.

OK, yeah, but it will be quick. I promise. So why would Abigail want to live at the mansion? I mean, didn’t she refer to it as the mausoleum when she first came to town? And you might want to tell her that we have one in the back, if she wants to bunk with the dead relatives out there.

Stop being nasty.

I’m not being nasty.

Yes, you are. Don’t be nasty to her.

I’m not being– I’m not being nasty.

And if you want to bring Rachel by to play with the kids, just bring them over to the house.

Sure, I bet Julie would just love that.

[phone ringing]

We’ll figure it out.

All right.

I have to take this.

[phone ringing]

[phone beeps] Hey, what’s up? Go for it.

[sighs] You!

Ms. DiMera, hi. Is something wrong?

There sure as hell is.

I know what you’ve done, Ms. Vininski.

[dramatic music]

[sighs] I just hate every second of this.

You think I don’t?

[scoffs] You don’t have to throw yourself at a man who is mourning his dead wife.

No, just jeopardize my medical license, my career, my future. Look, Aaron and Felicity also need us to get this right.

I know. I know. I’m doing my damnedest. I really am.

[tense music] I just– I feel so guilty.

Yeah.

Yesterday, Chad was reciting his wedding vows to me. And his words were just full of emotion and love, and I could feel it in my soul. And–

Wait a second, sis. Don’t tell me you’re falling for him.

What? No, of course not. He’s a nice guy, Mark. He doesn’t deserve this.

No, I don’t disagree. Still.

[sighs] Still. I have to start remembering and make it convincing.

[sighs] So what do we do about Clyde?

Let me deal with him.

Tell me, Steve, what is the one very big hole in the story?

Well, actually, it’s just a part of the story that I’m guessing only you can make sense of.

Well, now you got me curious.

Why was John Black, who wasn’t even involved in this case, found tied to a chair in the same Poplar Bluff location where Abigail was being held?

Damn, that is a hell of a coincidence, isn’t it?

Coincidence, my ass. Come on. You know where John was. He was in Greece laying flowers on a young woman’s grave he allegedly killed at Victor’s behest. You know that. So tell me, what is the connection between John Black and Abigail DiMera?

What do you mean? What do you think I’ve done?

You know damn well what you’ve done. You overheard Ava and me talking about Stefan, and then you turned around and you told Gabi my brother was cheating on her.

Gabi didn’t deserve to know?

Oh, please. You did it because you’re a nasty gossip. And no, Gabi didn’t need to know. And you know what? Thanks to you, I had to fire my good friend Ava, and a lot of people’s lives are turned upside down because you couldn’t keep your mouth shut.

But you’re the ones who couldn’t keep your mouths shut to begin with, you and Ava. I just happened to overhear.

Oh, yeah, you just happened to overhear? Mm-hmm.

[chuckles] No, all you’ve done was maliciously eavesdrop. And that does not sit well with me, Ms. Vininski. And the only reason you have your job still is that Gabi thinks you are the bee’s knees. But consider yourself on notice. Gabi answers to me, and so do you. So watch your step.

You watch yours, bitch.

What did you just say?

See you around!

[chuckles]

Yo. That was my office. Apparently, there’s an APB out on one of your employees.

Who?

Gabi’s assistant, Connie Vininski.

Oh.

Gabi, hi. I just found out that you told your cuckolded husband that you and I had yet another go at it this morning, which obviously didn’t happen. Damn it, Gabi. I realize that your goal is to make Stefan’s life miserable, but I’d have appreciated a heads up since I was totally blindsided when he confronted me. Look, I didn’t want to call you a liar, but my brother doesn’t need additional ammunition against me either. So we need to get our stories straight from now on, OK?

[sighs] Call me back when you get this.

[phone beeps]

[grunts] Ah. EJ left a message. OK. OK. So he’ll expect to hear back from me, which means I know he’ll come looking for me.

You and EJ aren’t really a thing, are you?

Well, it depends on what you mean by a thing.

[groans]

We had revenge sex. And we almost did again this morning before he helped me realize that it was a bad idea. And then I saw Stefan, and I couldn’t help myself, and I told him that EJ and I did have sex again. And now it’s just–

Gabi, you do remember that we are still in grave danger, yes? So could you scooch a little faster and do a little less talking?

Hey, you asked me about me and EJ.

Yes, which requires a one-word answer. So save your breath and get to the damn phone!

Right.

Yeah.

Right. OK. OK. Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh my God. OK.

No, no, no, no.

OK. I can’t die. I can’t die. I can’t die, especially before I tell Stefan that–

Before you tell him what? That you still love him? Go!

OK. OK.

Come on. Isn’t part of you just dying to see Gabi’s head explode when we show up at the mansion together?

Oh, God. All right. You know, just tell me like, what does it matter if Gabi and EJ slept together again? I mean, they already did the deed once. So what is it about doing it twice that makes it so egregious?

Because Gabi had regrets after the first time. And if they did it again, that means that those regrets are gone. That makes it a hell of a lot more egregious, don’t you think?

OK, you know what, I don’t care. Really, I don’t care how many times Gabi and EJ did the dirty, OK, or about you and Gabi and all the ways you’re trying to get back at each other in the most adolescent ways. OK, I’m over it. It’s getting old. I’m leaving.

What? Why?

Why? Why?

Yeah.

Because I feel disrespected, to put it mildly.

What, because I want us to have sex again? Ava, you are a beautiful, fascinating woman. And it’s not like I don’t care about you. I mean, we’re friends, right?

Wrong. A friend would not use me like this, especially in this way. So you know what, you can take your friendship and your stupid offer, and you can shove it.

[dramatic music]

Man, you’re jumping to all kinds of crazy conclusions here, Steve. You see, my associates in Missouri, they got multiple income sources.

Meaning what?

Meaning that if they’re using my safe house in Poplar Bluff, they’re doing some work for another boss.

To imprison another person who just happens to be from Salem too? Without your authorization? Like hell.

Steve, you asked for an explanation as to why John Black wound up in Poplar Bluff, and I gave you one. Now, if that don’t suit you, that’s not my fault. And what do you know? It’s lunchtime. And as bad as the food is here, at least my fellow inmates don’t pester me with tedious questions about inconsequential matters. I’ll see you later.

Hey, hold up a second. Listen. Listen. Now, I know you didn’t get the deal you were looking for when you gave up that information about Abigail. But I have connections with the ISA. They got me in here, in fact.

Why would I care about your connection to the ISA, Steve?

Well, because if you’d be willing to give me a few more answers, truthful ones, I might be able to go to the ISA and get them to reciprocate on my behalf, get you up out of here.

[scoffs]

[tense music]

Oh my God. Connie was just here. I was giving her a hard time. I was provoking her. You know what, I need to call the police.

I’m going to get the kids. Let’s get out of here.

All right.

[sighs]

Look, Ava, I didn’t mean to upset you.

The fact that you didn’t even realize you were doing that, it speaks volumes. And so not only do I not want your so-called friendship anymore, I don’t want your pity job that you’ve offered me either, OK? Because I would rather, I would rather sling hash for Roman, his corned beef hash, as you say, day and night than work for a clueless misogynistic ass.

I’m sorry, OK? I’m an idiot.

[sighs] What I said, my offer, it was misogynistic and clueless. You’re right.

[sighs] It’s just the idea of Gabi in bed with my brother makes me so freaking mad.

OK, you know what, that is your problem. It is not mine. And if you are so desperate to even the score with your wife in that sleazy way, I am sure there are plenty of women out there who would be happy to lower themselves to help you out. But I am not one of them.

My relationship with Stefan is complicated, Melinda.

[scoffs]

It’s not that easy to explain just everything that–

Well, well, well. Look who decided to rejoin the land of the living, for the time being, anyhoo. That’s not where I left you. Ha.

[laughs] Ah. You won’t be needing this.

Is that–

A big fat truth bomb? You’re both going to suffer mightily for what you did to Li.

Connie, please. People are going to find out what you did. You won’t get away with this! Stop now, please, while you still can.

I don’t care who finds out. I just have a few loose ends to take care of, and then I’m going home to Li, who is patiently waiting in my bed for me. And then we’ll bid Salem goodbye forever.

Li’s not in your bed, you lunatic! He is a freaking piece of cardboard!

Who is not here to defend himself from such crass insults, so I’ll have to do it for him!

Connie, Melinda and I didn’t kill him. You did. You told me so. You stabbed him in the back and let him bleed to death.

La, la, la, la! I don’t hear a word you’re saying!

Connie, if you blow this place up, you’ll end up with the same broken heart that you started with. This isn’t going to fix it. This isn’t going to fix anything. Deep down, under all that hurt, all that confusion, all that anger, you know I’m right.

[dramatic music]

Um, so… you think you could get me a deal?

I can damn well try.

[laughs] How dumb do you think I am, man? Like you could go to your brother Jack and say, oh, I’m sorry, I just had to let your daughter’s killer out of prison, man? Or supposed killer, anyway. Or Tripp’s mama? Come on, man. You’re bluffing me, and you’re doing a bad job of it at that. Guard! This man’s just leaving.

[chuckles]

[tense music]

I’ll be back.

That’s a promise.

Abby. What are you doing here? I just brought the kids home. They’re upstairs.

I’m sorry. The door was unlocked, and I thought you would want to know. I remember something.

[tense music]

Well, if it isn’t my lawyer, Jackie Chiles.

Good to see you, Mark. Glad you put those fake credentials I got you into good use. I seem to be a very popular guy today. You just missed Steve Johnson on the way out.

I know. I saw him leaving. What did he want?

He was asking me all kinds of questions about your sister. Can you believe that? He seems to think that she’s not really Abigail.

We’re aware.

[sighs] And you need to stop pressuring my sister, OK? If she moves too fast, it’s going to make people more suspicious than they already are.

Yeah, but she’s going to have to figure out something and fast. I mean, she needs to tie the knot with Chad ASAP so that I can achieve my goals. You know what my goals are, don’t you, Mark?

You want access to the DiMera fortune.

Well, I guess I wasn’t clear enough. You see, I don’t just want access to the DiMera fortune. I want the DiMera fortune. I want it to be mine, all of it.

So you better get your sister betrothed to Chad as soon as possible, or else you and her are never going to see your sweet mama alive again.

Gabi, are you here? Guess not.

[clears throat]

[sighs]

[hums]

Is this blood?

I am hurt. I am very angry. But I am not confused, not even one tiny bit. I know just what I want, and pretty soon I’ll have it.

But what about Li? Do you really want to defy him like this? I mean, he told you he didn’t want you to hurt us, right?

And you’ve been so good to me, Connie, which is why I gave you a raise, which is why I put all of my faith and trust into you. Please, Connie, don’t throw it all away. I’ll give you whatever you want.

As much as I’ve enjoyed hearing both of you grovel, the answer is no.

Oh, Connie, please don’t. Don’t do this.

Bye-bye, ladies. Have a blast.

No. No! Oh.

[device beeping]

[dramatic music]

[both screaming]

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

EJ asks Stefan if Gabi told him they had sex in the morning. Stefan questions if he’s going to deny it. EJ says he’s not saying anything. Stefan asks him again if he did or didn’t have sex with his wife.

Connie tells Melinda that she’s fine and that it wasn’t easy getting them down here without being noticed, but now it’s convenient to kill two bitches with one stone and not having to worry about the police looking for evidence. Melinda argues that the police are bound to look here eventually. Connie informs her that by the time they do, Melinda and Gabi will both be incinerated along with the entire house. Melinda calls that crazy and argues that she doesn’t want to do this. Connie declares that the entire house will be a pile of rubble and the DiMera Mansion will be her tomb.

Kristen joins Chad in the park which is set up for the Salem Back to School Picnic. Kristen thanks Chad for partaking in the dunk tank and talks about Thomas and Charlotte having fun. Kristen mentions that she thought “Abigail” might be there. Chad asks why since the kids don’t even know she’s back. Kristen asks how long that’s going to last. Chad says however long it takes. Kristen questions her not remembering her own children while Chad tells her that she is getting some memories back.

“Abigail” goes to see Mark at the hospital. Mark reminds her that they aren’t supposed to be seen together. “Abigail” informs him that she had no choice and shows him the text message she received last night from Clyde Weston.

Steve goes to the super max prison and calls Kayla, telling her that he’s there and that Shane pulled some strings for him with the warden. Steve assures that he will be careful and keep her posted as they hang up. Clyde is then brought in to see Steve, who says they need to have a talk. Clyde asks him how it’s going in Salem. Steve responds that crime rate is down now that he’s gone. Clyde asks how Hong Kong is treating Tripp. Steve says he’s not here to talk about his son. Clyde then guesses it’s about Abigail.

“Abigail” questions Mark about suddenly having a timeline to get Chad down the aisle and asks how she’s supposed to do that. Mark instructs her to do what Clyde says and marry Chad ASAP.

Kristen asks Chad about “Abigail” remembering anything about her life. Chad says they are working on it. Kristen says that’s great and they are all in his corner. Chad questions her sincerity. Kristen says it just seems “Abigail” isn’t exactly champing at the bit to spend more time with him or their children which she finds a little odd. Chad disagrees and calls it none of her business. Kristen argues that Rachel has been begging to have Thomas and Charlotte over to swim and she’s running out of excuses. Kristen adds that she lives with “Abigail” and worries about her being an impostor. Chad reminds her they ran a DNA test. Kristen questions wanting to know how “Abigail” survived the brutal stabbing, where she’s been for the last few years, and what Clyde’s motives were to keep her on ice all this time. Chad complains about her being negative while Kristen calls it healthy skepticism because she cares about him and doesn’t want to see him get hurt. Kristen warns Chad to just tread carefully.

EJ tells Stefan that he already knows he slept with Gabi once and made it clear he doesn’t want her back, so he questions what difference it makes to him if they hooked up again in the morning. Stefan argues that Gabi is still his wife. EJ brings up Stefan sleeping with his brother’s wife and cheating on Gabi once. Stefan asks what is to stop him from testifying against EJ that Jude is actually Eric’s and that EJ hid his paternity. Stefan tells EJ to picture him holding the jury spellbound with his tales and then answer the question. EJ then admits to Stefan that he and Gabi did not sleep together this morning. Stefan questions him saying that Gabi lied to him.

Connie tries to wake Gabi up so she doesn’t miss her last few miserable moments on Earth. Melinda argues that Connie kept her alive all this time so it’s not too late to do the right thing. Melinda swears she will keep her mouth shut about everything she’s done. Connie responds that after today, neither of them will ever be able to open their mouths again and the world will owe her a thank you.

“Abigail” tells Mark that she can’t just snap her fingers and get Chad to marry her as he won’t marry a complete stranger. Mark argues that Chad is desperate to get his old life back. “Abigail” complains that she can’t give him that and admits that this is harder than she thought it would be. She feels that Chad will eventually see through her and then this will all be over. Mark warns that if someone sees through her before she marries Chad, the consequences will be a lot worse. “Abigail” worries that someone will be Steve if he doesn’t stop asking questions.

Clyde asks if Steve hasn’t found “Abigail” yet. Steve confirms they are. Clyde hoped to use that as leverage to get out of this joint. Steve argues that Clyde knows exactly what’s happening with “Abigail” since he was on the phone with her just the other day. Clyde asks how he would do that when he has no access to a phone. Steve points out that it wouldn’t be the first time that he found his way around the rules. Clyde argues that he’s the last person in the world that Abigail would want to talk to so she wouldn’t take his calls. Steve says that’s unless she’s not really Abigail.

Chad knows that Kristen is naturally suspicious and asks what she thinks the point would be of “Abigail” being a hoax. Kristen suggests maybe she’s out to nab a handsome guy from a very rich and powerful family. Chad asks why she insists on living apart if she’s after his money or have no recollection of their life. Kristen suggests she’s moving in slowly. Chad thinks she would need a new plan.

Connie says she has to go out for a few supplies and tells Melinda to try to wake Gabi up while she’s gone. Melinda successfully wakes Gabi up. Gabi is shocked to see her and asks where they are. Melinda explains that they are in the basement, being held hostage by Connie. Melinda adds that she never took a leave of absence and that Connie has been holding her hostage in her bedroom with a cardboard cutout of Li. Melinda mentions Connie killing Li and stabbing Rafe. Gabi adds that Melinda confessed to killing Everett and staging his suicide before knocking her out. Gabi declares that she went to prison because of that crazy bitch. Melinda talks about Connie blaming them all for Li’s death. Gabi asks why she’s keeping them alive. Melinda reveals that Connie is planning on blowing them up when she gets back along with the entire house. Gabi screams that they have to get out of here.

EJ tells Stefan that he’s not saying Gabi was lying but that this is between her and Stefan. EJ warns Stefan that he won’t stand by while he tries to put him away because he cheated on his wife with Ava. EJ remarks that it’s one thing to have no morals but his utter lack of taste is appalling. EJ then walks out of the Bistro. Stefan calls him a smug son of a bitch. Ava laughs it off and tells Stefan that at least EJ didn’t sleep with Gabi again. Stefan brings up that EJ also said Gabi wasn’t lying. Ava says he can’t expect a clear answer from EJ. Stefan knows EJ is terrified of going to prison, so he will tell him what he wants to hear, but he knows for sure that EJ and Gabi had to have slept together this morning. Stefan realizes that Gabi now leads him 2 to 1, so he asks Ava if she wants to help him even the score.

“Abigail” tells Mark that she can’t believe she was so clueless when Stephanie heard her on the phone and she didn’t come up with a good cover story. Mark encourages her but “Abigail” worries that it’s so easy to slip up and she’s not built for this. Mark says they have no choice but to keep this up. “Abigail” thinks she can convince Chad but Steve is an entirely different story. Mark says Steve may be suspicious but there’s no way he can prove anything, so they will figure this out because they have to. “Abigail” agrees because Clyde holds all the cards.

Clyde asks Steve why he thinks “Abigail” would be an impostor. Steve brings up her looking nothing like Abigail. Steve talks about Clyde and Officer Goldman taking care of her while she was locked up. Steve feels she could be anyone. Clyde brings up the DNA test and questions Steve doubting the results. Steve responds that his gut tells him that something’s just not right and there’s also a very big hole in this story.

Ava mocks Stefan trying to even the score with his wife. Stefan can see where that would be offensive. Stefan reminds Ava that she’s the last person to forgive and forget when someone does her dirty. Stefan brings up Gabi having Ava fired and being the reason that Ava is behind on her rent. Stefan argues that they have more than enough reason to get revenge on Gabi and sees no harm in having a little fun in the process. Stefan suggests they go back to the DiMera Mansion with a bottle of champagne and think of the look on Gabi’s face when they go upstairs, leaving a trail of clothing.

Melinda asks Gabi if she has any idea how to escape. Gabi talks about the place being soundproof but talks about the DiMeras always coming down for wine. Melinda worries that any minute, Connie is going to come back with ingredients for a bomb so they don’t have time to wait. Melinda complains about being unable to believe that Gabi hired Connie. Gabi argues that she had no way of knowing Connie was a homicidal maniac as she was very helpful. Gabi tells Melinda that they can’t turn on each other now, as they have to find a way out of this together. Gabi sees her phone nearby and says she has to find a way to get to it. Gabi then sees that EJ is calling her phone.

Kristen tells Chad that she tried to warn him but to no avail. Kristen then asks why “Abigail” would want to live at the DiMera Mansion. Chad tells her to stop being nasty towards her and says she can bring Rachel by the house if she wants to play with the kids. Kristen doesn’t think Julie would like that but Chad says they’ll figure it out. Chad then gets a call and walks away. Connie then walks in to the park and runs in to Kristen. Connie greets her and asks if something’s wrong. Kristen responds that she knows what she has done.

“Abigail” complains to Mark that she hates throwing herself at a man who is mourning his dead wife while Mark brings up that he’s having to jeopardize his medical license, his career, and his future. Mark adds that Aaron and Felicity also need them to get this right. “Abigail” insists that she’s doing her damndest but she feels so guilty. She brings up Chad reciting his wedding vows and how his words were full of emotion and love. Mark questions if she’s falling for Chad. She says of course not but says he’s a nice guy who doesn’t deserve this. “Abigail” states that she has to start remembering and make it convincing. She asks what to do about Clyde. Mark says to let him deal with him.

Clyde asks Steve what the very big hole in the story is. Steve responds that it’s actually just part of the story that he guesses only Clyde can make sense of. Steve questions why John Black found tied to a chair in the same Poplar Bluff location that “Abigail” was being held. Clyde calls it a hell of a coincidence but Steve doesn’t believe him. Steve argues that Clyde knows John was in Greece and questions what the connection is between John and Abigail.

Connie asks Kristen what she thinks she’s done. Kristen brings up Connie overhearing her and Ava talking about Stefan then turning around to tell Gabi that her husband cheated on her. Connie asks if Gabi didn’t deserve to know. Kristen argues that Connie only did it because she’s a nasty gossip and thanks to her, she had to fire Ava and a lot of people’s lives are turned upside down because she couldn’t keep her mouth shut. Connie points out that Kristen and Ava are the ones who couldn’t keep their mouths shut to begin with while she just happened to overhear. Kristen accuses her of eavesdropping which doesn’t sit well with her. Kristen adds that Connie only has her job still because Gabi thinks she’s the bee’s knees but warns that she’s on notice because they both answer to her. Kristen warns her to watch her step as Connie walks away. Chad comes back and informs Kristen that the call was from his office and apparently there’s an APB out on one of Kristen’s employees and it’s Gabi’s assistant, Connie.

EJ walks through the town square, leaving a message for Gabi that he just found out that she told Stefan that they had another go of it this morning which didn’t happen. EJ complains that he would’ve appreciated a heads up so he wasn’t completely blindsided when Stefan confronted him this morning. EJ adds that Stefan doesn’t need further ammunition against him so they need to get their stories straight. EJ says for Gabi to call him back when she gets this.

Gabi continues trying to reach her phone and sees that EJ left a voicemail, so he will expect to hear back which means she knows he will come looking for her. Melinda questions if they are really a thing. Gabi explains that they had revenge sex and they almost did again this morning but he convinced her it was a bad idea and then she saw Stefan, so she told him they did have sex. Melinda reminds Gabi they are in danger and urges her to do more moving and less talking. Gabi complains that Melinda asked about her and EJ. Melinda says that was a one word answer and tells her to get to the damn phone. Gabi panicks that she can’t die before she tells Stefan, which Melinda assumes she wants to tell Stefan that she still loves him.

Stefan asks if part of Ava isn’t dying to see Gabi’s head explode when they arrive together at the mansion. Ava asks why it matters if Gabi and EJ slept together again since they already did once. Stefan explains that Gabi had regrets after the first time, so if they did it again, that means those regrets are gone. Ava doesn’t care how many times Gabi and EJ do it or about the times that Stefan and Gabi try to get back at each other. Ava declares that it’s getting old and she’s leaving because she feels disrespected. Stefan calls her a beautiful and fascinating woman, arguing that they are friends. Ava remarks that a friend wouldn’t use her in this way, so she tells him that he can take his friendship and his job offer and shove it.

Clyde tells Steve that he’s jumping to all sorts of crazy conclusions. Clyde says his associates in Missouri have multiple income sources, so if they were using his safehouse, it could be from another boss. Steve questions them imprisoning another person from Salem without his authorization and doesn’t believe it. Clyde says Steve asked for an explanation and he gave him one, so it’s not his fault if that doesn’t suit him. Clyde adds that it’s lunch time so he’ll see him later. Steve stops Clyde and says he knows Clyde didn’t get the deal he was looking for when he gave up the information about “Abigail”, but he has connections with the ISA, who got him in there. Clyde asks why he would care. Steve responds that if Clyde would be willing to give him a few more truthful answers, he might be able to go to the ISA to get Clyde out of here.

Kristen tells Chad that Connie was just there and she was provoking her, so she needs to call the police. Chad goes to get the kids.

Stefan tells Ava that he didn’t mean to upset her. Ava argues that the fact that he didn’t even realize he was doing that speaks volumes. Ava declares that she doesn’t want Stefan’s friendship or his pity job either as she would rather work for Roman than a clueless, misogynist ass. Stefan apologizes and calls himself an idiot, admitting that he was misogynistic and clueless. Stefan says it’s just the idea of Gabi and EJ in bed together makes him so mad. Ava tells him that’s his problem and if he’s so desperate to even the score with Gabi, she’s sure there are plenty of women out there who would be happy to help him out but she’s not one of them. Ava then storms out of the Bistro.

Gabi tells Melinda that her relationship with Stefan is complicated and not easy to explain. Connie then returns and comments on Gabi returning to the land of the living for the time being. Connie notices Gabi had moved and sees her phone on the ground. Connie says she won’t be needing that and takes it away. Connie then pulls out her bomb and declares they are both going to suffer mightily for what they did to Li. Melinda argues that people are going to find out what she did and she won’t get away with it. Melinda pleads with her to stop while she still can. Connie says she doesn’t care who finds out as she just has some loose ends to tie up and then she’s going home to Li and they will happily leave Salem together. Melinda calls her a lunatic. Gabi argues that she and Melinda didn’t kill Li, reminding Connie that she stabbed him in the back. Gabi warns Connie that if she blows the place up, she’ll end up with the same broken heart she started with and that this won’t fix anything. Gabi says that deep down under her hurt, confusion, and anger, she knows that she’s right.

Clyde questions Steve thinking he could get him a deal. Steve responds that he could damn well try. Clyde laughs him off, asking how dumb he thinks he is, questioning if he thinks he could go to Jack or Ava and tell them that he got him out of prison. Clyde accuses Steve of bluffing and calls the guard. Steve promises that he will be back as he then exits. After Steve leaves, Mark arrives to see Clyde.

Chad goes home to find “Abigail” inside and questions what she’s doing there as he just brought the kids home. “Abigail” responds that she thought he’d want to know that she remembered something.

Clyde acknowledges Mark as his lawyer so that the guard leaves them. Clyde then tells Mark it’s good to see him and that he’s glad he put those fake credentials to use. Mark mentions seeing Steve leaving and asks what he wanted. Clyde says he was asking all kinds of questions about Mark’s sister as he seems to think she’s not really Abigail. Mark says they are aware and warns Clyde to stop pressuring her because if she moves too fast, people are going to become even more suspicious. Clyde declares that she needs to move fast and marry Chad ASAP, so that he can achieve his goals. Clyde reminds Mark that he knows what his goals are. Mark states that Clyde wants access to the DiMera fortune. Clyde clarifies that he doesn’t just want access, he wants all of it to be his. Clyde warns that Mark better get his sister married to Chad as soon as possible, or else they will never see their mom alive again.

EJ goes home and guesses Gabi isn’t there. EJ pours a cup of coffee and then finds the bloody fireplace poker on the ground. EJ picks it up and questions the blood.

Connie says goodbye and tells them to have a blast as she sets the bomb and exits as the bomb counts down from two and a half minutes.

Update written by Joseph

EJ complains that it’s all hearsay motivated by vengeance, so if Paulina fires him, she’ll only end up looking foolish when the case falls apart in court. Paulina says that’s why she has to make sure that doesn’t happen by replacing him with a brilliant district attorney. EJ says if she’s considering Melinda Trask, the rumor is that she is long gone. Paulina argues that someone like Melinda doesn’t just disappear. Paulina adds that she has a lot of people working for her, so they will track her down where ever she is.

Jada goes to Connie’s apartment with a cop and knocks on the door, saying she has a few questions. Jada then tries the door and opens it to find blood on the floor. Jada instructs her cop to make a call while she wonders who’s blood it is. Jada follows the bloody prints to the bedroom.

At the Brady Pub, Ava doesn’t believe Stefan when he says there’s no chance of he and Gabi getting back together. Ava feels that Stefan having her work at the Bistro won’t help. Stefan admits he’s mad and disgusted that Gabi would sleep with his brother more than once and to him, that’s a deal breaker. Stefan declares that as far as he’s concerned, Gabi can rot.

Gabi questions Connie as she reveals that she is the one who stabbed her brother.

Rafe wonders why Gabi won’t call him back. Roman enters and says it’s about time he woke up, but notes that he doesn’t seem too happy, so he asks if something is wrong. Rafe says it’s great to see him, but he’s worried about Gabi because he and Jada think her new assistant might be dangerous. Roman questions what he means and who she is. Rafe tells him that it’s Connie and it’s possible that she might be the one who stabbed him.

Gabi questions Connie saying she stabbed Rafe. Connie then pulls the knife out of her purse and tells Gabi that she’s next. Gabi argues that it was Everett. Connie says that’s what everyone thinks but she knew him as Bobby. Connie adds that Bobby asked her to do it since with Rafe out of the way, Bobby had a clear path to Jada.

Jada follows the blood prints to the bedroom and bursts open the door with her gun drawn, shocked to see the cardboard cut out of Li Shin in Connie’s bed.

Roman thought it was Everett that tried to kill Rafe and then took his own life. Rafe responds that Everett’s death might not have been a suicide. Rafe adds that Jada is trying to track Connie down now. Rafe complains that he’s trying to warn Gabi to stay away from Connie but she’s not answering his texts. Rafe declares that he needs to find her now.

Connie tells Gabi that she doesn’t blame Bobby as he thought of Jada as the love of his life but it turned out that they weren’t meant to be. Connie explains that she had no choice since Bobby threatened to expose her for stabbing Rafe and she couldn’t have that. Gabi questions Connie making it look like a suicide. Connie complains about her asking a lot of questions. Gabi tells her that she’s done a lot of crazy things for love too, so she’s impressed.

Stefan tells Ava that Gabi made her choice and he made his. Ava questions if Gabi came in and told Stefan how sorry she was and that she loves him and wants him back, if he wouldn’t forgive her. Stefan confirms that. Ava asks if he wouldn’t be tempted to give it another go, pointing out that Gabi is his wife and they still love each other. Stefan then gets a call from Gabi’s phone, but chooses not to answer it, guessing she’s probably just calling to tell him that she and EJ had mind blowing sex again.

Gabi holds her phone in her pocket as she tried to call Stefan and questions Connie as to why she did Bobby’s dirty work in the first place. Connie claims she believes in love. Gabi argues that she must have gotten something out of it. Connie explains that Bobby threatened to rat her out. Gabi asks what he had over her. Connie says that Bobby knew she did something that she’s not proud of. Gabi asks what she did, pointing out that there’s no point in keeping secrets from each other at this point. Connie then reveals that Bobby knew that she killed Li Shin, which shocks Gabi.

Jada and her cop question finding the cardboard cutout of Li Shin. Jada says it looks like Connie was holding someone hostage as they begin to search the room. Jada finds Melinda’s bag in the room and wonders if she was the one held there and where she is now.

EJ suspects that Melinda has had her fill of Salem politics and doubts she would take the job even if she could track her down. Paulina says she’ll hire someone else then. EJ argues that she knows damn well that they won’t be as competent as him. Paulina complains that EJ blackmailed her in to hiring him back. EJ says it all worked out in the end since he got what he wanted and she was comfortable in her position. Paulina argues that it doesn’t mean she won’t fire him for stealing a baby. EJ asks if she’s really going to treat him like this, pointing out they are in-laws. Paulina questions him pulling the family card. EJ says he just feels they could do without acting so hastily. Paulina agrees they don’t need another scandal, but worries that if Stefan goes public with what he knows about EJ, then not even she will be able to save his ass.

Stefan tells Ava they should go to the Bistro and have champagne to celebrate her new job. Ava points out that she hasn’t accepted his offer but Stefan says she will which Ava questions. Stefan asks if she’d rather stay at the Pub which Ava calls an honest living while Stefan calls it boring. Stefan questions if she’d rather be on her feet all day working like this for a couple of lousy bucks and tips. Stefan urges Ava to take a chance and walk out the door. Ava reminds him that she’s technically still on her shift. Stefan argues that the breakfast rush is over. Stefan points out that Roman gave her this job so she could make her rent money and she will make a lot more as manager of the Bistro. Stefan adds that the rest of the wait staff would appreciate her share of the tips. Ava then calls out to another waitress to take her tables. Stefan tells Ava that her future awaits. Ava removes her Pub apron and exits with Stefan.

Roman stops Rafe and says he can’t let him out of the bed. Rafe shouts that he needs to find Gabi. Roman says it’s not safe for him to leave the hospital while Rafe complains that it’s not safe for Gabi to be out there. Roman asks if he’s sure that Connie is going after Gabi. Rafe argues that it’s certainly possible and brings up how Connie lied to get the assistant job. Rafe worries of what Connie could do to Gabi if she did this to him. Roman tells Rafe to let him handle it while he stays here to rest. Roman promises to track down Gabi and make sure that Connie is not a threat.

Gabi questions Connie killing Li. Connie tells Gabi not to act broken up since she hated Li. Gabi argues that doesn’t mean she wanted him dead, especially since she went to prison for killing him. Connie reveals that she framed Gabi by sending her a text from Li’s phone that night to lure her to his apartment. Gabi can’t believe she went to prison because of Connie. Connie remarks that she didn’t ask Gabi to pull the knife out of Li’s back, but that she was stupid enough to fall in to the trap.

Jada calls to put an APB out on Connie and says she should be considered armed and dangerous. Jada also puts an APB out on Melinda Trask, considering her a missing person. Jada says she’ll be in touch and hangs up. Jada wonders if Connie put in for Melinda’s leave of absence and if she’s been holding her hostage this entire time, but she has no idea how the cardboard Li Shin figures in to it. Jada declares her main concern right now is what Connie may have done to Melinda.

Gabi doesn’t understand why Connie would kill Li and frame her for it as she thought they got along great. Connie says that’s what she wanted her to believe but the truth is, she hated her guts for how she treated Li and the way that she and Stefan tortured him for months. Gabi questions her caring about Li. Connie responds that she doesn’t care about Li, she loves him. Gabi asks if they even knew each other. Connie says she told her that she did when she met her at the press conference, but she was too busy caring about herself to remember. Connie talks about Li charming her with his smile and knowing they were meant to be. Connie argues that they would’ve been together forever if Gabi didn’t break his heart. Connie complains that Gabi made Li think that she cared about him but she only cared about his DiMera shares and tricked and humiliated him. Connie says after that, Li was too hurt to love again. Gabi questions that being her fault. Connie argues that she tried to convince Li that she was the one for him but he couldn’t let Gabi go. Gabi questions her stabbing Li in the back. Connie first claims it was an accident then says it wasn’t her fault as Gabi caused all of this by ruining Li. Gabi responds that Connie tried to ruin her in return. Connie says that somehow Gabi got out and she’s here while Li is gone. Connie shouts that it should’ve been Gabi as she’s the one who deserved to die. Connie declares it’s time to end this for good and then she and Li can finally be together. Gabi knocks Connie down and steals her knife, but Connie gets up and goes after her.

EJ tells Paulina that it would be a terrible shame to attempt another mayoral recall. Paulina doesn’t respond well to threats. EJ asks who said anything about threats. Paulina says even if she considered keeping him as district attorney, Stefan is determined to testify against him for kidnapping a baby. EJ insists it won’t come to that as he can handle his brother.

Stefan and Ava go to the Bistro. Stefan pours them champagne. Ava feels it’s a little early for that but Stefan convinces her. Stefan toasts to new beginnings for both of them and welcomes her back to the Bistro. Ava is still not sure this is the best idea when Gabi finds out that he hired her. Stefan repeats that his marriage is over and that Gabi is as good as dead to him.

Roman goes to the DiMera Mansion, knocking on the door and yelling for Gabi. Roman then opens the door and heads inside, looking for Gabi and asking if anyone is home. Roman heads in to the living room questioning if Gabi is there.

Rafe tries calling Gabi again but it goes to voicemail. Jada returns, so Rafe asks if she found Connie. Jada says there was no sign of her at her apartment but she thinks they were right about her involvement in Li Shin’s murder. Jada isn’t sure how to describe it, but Connie had a life-size cardboard cut out of Li and it was in her bed under the covers. Jada adds that it appears that there were ropes tied to the headboard like she was holding someone hostage in the apartment.

Connie drags Gabi’s unconscious body to the secret room in the DiMera tunnels where she has Melinda tied up and tells her that she brought her some company.

Ava questions Stefan saying Gabi is out of his life which Stefan insists is the truth. Ava says she’s been through this with Rafe and Harris, so she’s preparing herself for when Stefan and Gabi get back together and she’s out on her ass again. Stefan repeats that’s not going to happen. Ava asks if Gabi comes slithering back in to his life which Stefan says won’t happen either, since Gabi told him this morning that she found herself in EJ’s bed yet again. EJ then arrives at the Bistro and guesses Stefan invited Ava to his victory celebration but calls it a little premature.

Roman continues searching the DiMera Mansion and calling out for Gabi. Roman walks out of the living room, not noticing the bloody fireplace poker on the floor behind the door.

Jada tells Rafe about finding blood which led her to Connie’s bedroom, where they found Melinda’s bag so the blood is likely to match her. Jada adds that she’s already declared Melinda a missing person. Rafe wonders where Connie took Melinda and what exactly she did to her.

Connie ties Gabi up next to Melinda and says no one will hear them down here. Melinda asks what she did to Gabi and where the hell they are. Connie assumed Melinda would know the place from crime scene photos or secret rooms. Connie reveals they are in the bowels of the DiMera Mansion in the secret room. Melinda asks why they are here. Connie says she needed somewhere to stash Melinda when her apartment became too hot while she came here to kill Gabi. Melinda points out that Gabi is still alive, so she asks if Connie changed her mind. Connie responds that she just figured it would be more efficient to kill them both together.

Stefan questions EJ not being at the office. EJ asks if he means where he’s supposed to be arrested for his high crimes in misdemeanors which Ava questions. EJ explains that Stefan was setting him up as he just got done with a meeting with Paulina where she told him that Stefan gave her an earful. Stefan argues that it was the truth while EJ questions Stefan deciding now was the time to tell Paulina all about it. Stefan says it’s just like EJ decided now would be a great time to go after his wife. EJ guesses this was Stefan’s way of revenge for that. EJ reminds him that Gabi came on to him that night. Stefan asks about this morning and guessing it was mutual because the first time was so amazing that they couldn’t wait to do it again.

Jada finishes a call about searching Connie’s apartment. Roman returns so Rafe asks if he found Gabi. Roman informs Rafe that he went inside the mansion but there was no sign of Gabi or anyone else. Rafe asks about the staff. Roman says the kitchen was empty. Rafe asks if he’s sure. Roman doesn’t know where Gabi is but he doesn’t believe she’s in the DiMera Mansion..

Paulina joins the police at Connie’s apartment and questions Melinda being held hostage. One of the cops confirms that they found some of Melinda’s personal belongings in the bedroom along with evidence of someone being held hostage. He adds that Jada put an APB out on Connie, but so far there have been no hits. Paulina asks about Melinda. He says they are on the lookout for her too and trying to confirm that it’s her blood, but right now they would be happy just to find her alive.

Melinda questions Connie bringing her all the way over here just to kill her instead of just doing it when she had the chance in her apartment. Connie claims she didn’t want to sully her apartment with that kind of violence while Melinda points out that she had no problem killing Li there. Connie says she never wanted to keep Melinda there but it was desperate times. Connie declares it will be over soon and then she and Li can enjoy their happily ever after as soon as she finishes off Melinda and Gabi. Melinda flashes back to Connie tying her up to her bed and the arguments they had.

Jada finishes another call and tells Rafe that according to DiMera security, Gabi did not come to the office today. Rafe asks about Stefan but Jada says she didn’t speak to him. Rafe wonders if Gabi took the morning off with Stefan but Jada doubts that. Rafe asks why. Jada informs him that a lot has happened since he was in a coma. Jada then reveals to Rafe that Stefan and Gabi split it up as apparently Stefan cheated on Gabi with Ava which shocks Rafe.

EJ informs Stefan that he and Gabi weren’t together this morning and asks what he’s talking about. Stefan tells EJ that Gabi sauntered in wearing his robe and couldn’t wait to brag about their latest romp. EJ remembers Gabi coming to his bedroom but turning her down. Stefan asks if EJ is going to deny it.

The cop takes Paulina to Connie’s bedroom and shows her the cardboard cutout of Li Shin which she questions. The cop responds that in his professional opinion, Connie is out of her mind.

Melinda tells Connie that it’s not too late to change her mind, arguing that she doesn’t want to be a murderer again. Connie responds that she’s fine and that it wasn’t easy getting them down here without being noticed, but now it’s convenient to kill two bitches with one stone and not having to worry about the police looking for evidence. Melinda argues that the police are bound to look here eventually. Connie informs her that by the time they do, Melinda and Gabi will both be incinerated along with the entire house.
