Doug Williams III stands in the living room of the Horton house, looking at the photos on the mantle as he pulls out Alice’s diamond necklace that he stole. He thinks back to hiding outside the window of the house when the family was first going through the time capsule and found the necklace. Julie then walks in and asks what he’s doing.

Roman, Kayla, and Steve bring out the Christmas decorations at the Brady Pub. Kayla calls it the unofficial kickoff of Christmas season, but says this year all she can think about is Julie having to spend it without Doug. Roman says the annual hanging of the Horton ornaments will definitely be bittersweet this year. Steve adds that Julie will need her family and friends around her more than ever this year. Hope then arrives and hugs Roman and Kayla.

Jack and Jennifer sit in the town square. Jack comments on Jennifer being up late last night. Jennifer says she just had long talks with Hope and then she couldn’t sleep because she can’t stop thinking about JJ and Chad going up against Clyde Weston on their own. Jack encourages that they are both smart and capable. Jennifer says she knows but she just wants to hear from them. Jack assures that they will as it’s still early in Vancouver.

At the hotel in Vancouver, JJ wakes up with Gabi’s hand on his chest. Gabi wakes up and apologizes but JJ says it’s okay as she was always a cuddler and some things never change.

Chad wakes Cat up from having a nightmare in their motel in Vancouver. Cat tells Chad about her nightmare that Clyde went through with his threat of killing her mother. Cat worries that dream could be real and everything she did was all for nothing. Chad hugs Cat as she breaks down crying. Cat apologizes for falling apart like that. Chad understands she’s worried about her mom. Cat talks about how her mom used to comfort her after having nightmares. Cat says she thought she lost her mom once and can’t go through that again. Chad responds that he knows what that’s like. Cat says she’s really sorry. Chad tells her to stay focused on bringing Clyde to justice. Cat brings up that Clyde said he would reach out with instructions this morning. Chad is sure that JJ will reach out as soon as he does.

JJ jokes that he should thank Gabi for keeping him warm. Gabi says that was not her intent. JJ says it’s okay that she missed him. Gabi insists she was just dreaming about Stefan because she loved him. JJ argues that Stefan was an ass who took advantage of Abigail and treated Gabi like dirt, so he feels she’s lucky to be rid of him. Gabi brings up that Stefan skipped town without even saying goodbye so that’s how much she meant to him. JJ feels that’s proving his point that Stefan’s an ass. JJ tells Gabi that he’s sorry that things ended the way they did. Gabi thanks him and says they should get dressed for the big day ahead of them.

Jennifer knows Jack is right that JJ and Chad are strong and capable. Jack understands it’s hard not to worry. Jennifer states that their family has suffered so many losses in the last few years, so she would like to think that she’s strong but worries about anything happening to JJ. Jack assures that JJ will be fine and that they need to do this for Abigail. Jack declares that they need to believe they will succeed in their mission for her.

Kayla tells Hope that they are so sorry about Doug as they all loved him so much. Steve asks how she’s holding up. Hope says it’s Julie that she worries about. Steve’s alarm goes off to remind him he needs to meet with Jack. Steve offers to put it off but Hope says she understands and knows what’s going on. Steve asks how long Hope is in town. Hope informs him that she’s flying back in a little bit to get back to Bo, but tells Steve to go ahead as it’s important. Steve tells Hope that he’s always thinking of her and Bo. Kayla brings up hearing that Bo squeezed her hand. Roman asks if it was a false alarm which Hope confirms. Steve insists that they all know Bo is going to wake up and encourages Hope to keep the faith. Steve hugs Hope as he says goodbye to them and exits the Pub. Kayla tells Hope that Julie must be grateful to have her. Hope says she felt bad about having to leave so fast. Hope talks about being grateful for all the supportive people. Hope then asks if Kayla and Roman have met Doug’s long lost grandson.

Doug III tells Julie that he was just looking at the family photos and putting names to faces. Julie says most of them are her relatives. Julie shows Doug a picture of Shawn and talks about him going through a tough time right now. Julie says that Shawn was a great cop just like Hope and the bad guys always knew they were in trouble when they were on the case. Julie is sorry that Doug didn’t get to bond with Shawn, Hope, and Ciara. Julie brings up Ciara being the one to open the time capsule and says she wants to show him all the things inside of it. Julie mentions the necklace that belonged to Alice but then calls it strange that the necklace isn’t there.

Roman tells Kayla and Hope that he hadn’t heard anything about Doug’s son in years. Kayla talks about how it must be for Julie. Hope questions Julie inviting this guy that she just met to move in and admits she doesn’t think it’s a good idea at all. Hope says she doesn’t mean to be a cynic but she doesn’t completely trust this so called Doug Williams. Roman asks if she thinks this guy is not who he says he is.

Julie doesn’t understand and tells Doug III about the necklace being gone. Jennifer comes home. Julie asks her what happened to the necklace as she wanted to show it to Doug but it’s not there. Jennifer responds that she’s so sorry as she thought they would figure it out before she found out, but they think the necklace was stolen right after they left for the funeral. Julie questions her knowing and not telling her. Jennifer says she was dealing with so much and they didn’t want to upset her. Julie questions why they haven’t called the police. Jennifer informs her that they think it was stolen by someone close to them.

Steve meets Jack in the town square and asks if there’s been any word from JJ. Jack says not since last night. Jack mentions telling Jennifer that JJ would be fine but admits he’s worried since they are going in to this Clyde situation totally blind. Steve reveals that he called in some favors with the ISA last night, so it’s easier to narrow down the search for Clyde. Steve says he’s still waiting to hear but they are on it. Steve then gets a text.

Gabi asks JJ when he thinks they’ll hear from Clyde. JJ hopes it will be soon. Gabi wonders if there’s a problem or if he’s on to them. They then receive a note slipped under the door. JJ picks it up and sees it’s addressed to Chad, so he opens it. JJ reads the order to bring Cat Green to the back room of the Pink Kitten Club at 10 AM sharp.

Chad questions Cat taking long in the bathroom. She comes out and says she was getting dressed, arguing that it’s not like she’s going to jump out the bathroom window. Chad reminds her that he doesn’t want her out of his sight for that long. Cat tells him to chill and argues that she’s not the enemy anymore. Chad states that he can’t afford to mess this up. Cat says she’s not just in this for personal reasons and insists she wants to help him find Abigail’s remains. Cat talks about how she hates that she put him through Hell so she wants to do anything she can to lessen his pain because she still cares about him. Chad remarks that she has a strange way of showing it since all she’s ever done is lie to him. Cat knows it felt that way but repeats that she was only trying to save her mother. Chad stops her and says nothing she says will justify what she did. Cat tells Chad that she doesn’t expect him to return her feelings. Cat wishes she didn’t have feelings for him and gets that he’s going to hate her forever. They are interrupted by a knock at the door. It’s Gabi and JJ who present Chad with Clyde’s note.

Julie asks Jennifer who she thinks stole the necklace. Jennifer reveals that they think it was her brother Steven. Julie questions accusing Steven and what proof they have. Jennifer brings up Steven’s history with that sort of thing. Julie insists that Steven changed as Doug III looks on. Julie assures that Steven has a good heart, so she doesn’t see how she could point the finger at him just because of his history. Jennifer brings up that Steven had the opportunity when they were leaving for the funeral. Julie remembers Steven going back after forgetting his phone but says that doesn’t mean he stole the necklace. Jennifer asks who else it could have been.

Kayla thinks Hope is right to be cautious about Doug III after what happened with the impostor Abigail. Hope says she told Jennifer to keep an eye on him. Roman says they will too. Hope wants to verify Doug III’s story before she leaves town. Hope says she knows someone who should be able to get her the information she needs.

JJ reveals that he looked up the Pink Kitten Club and it’s a strip club. Gabi says it sounds like a place Clyde would hang out. JJ adds that it would be empty during the day. Chad worries about Clyde setting a trap and that without the advantage, there’s nothing to stop Clyde from shooting Gabi and JJ on the spot. JJ says he can be their backup. Chad worries that Clyde would see them coming. JJ points out that the clock is ticking. Chad gets a call from Steve and hopes he can help them figure something out. Chad says they could use his help. Steve says he knows as Jack and Jennifer told him what they are doing, so he did some digging and has some useful intel for him. Steve informs Chad that the ISA helped him get a line on where Clyde has been hiding. Steve says he will text him an address on the outside of town. Chad thanks him and says they will check it out. Steve reminds Chad to call for backup from the local authorities but Chad says they don’t have time for that. Steve wishes Chad told him about this as soon as Clyde called him. Chad apologizes but says Clyde told him not to tell anyone. Chad thanks Steve for the assist. Steve responds that he can thank him by not getting himself killed.

Hope finishes a call with Harris Michaels and thanks him for the help. Kayla didn’t know they were still in touch. Hope explains that he keeps her up to date on his search for Megan and how he’s working for the Navy Seals and the ISA. Hope says that Harris should be able to get him the contact information for Charles LeClaire pretty quickly. Harris then sends it over, so Hope calls Charles. Hope introduces herself and says it’s good to finally speak. Hope tells him that she’s actually calling about his son.

Julie questions Jennifer thinking anyone close to them could have stolen the necklace and argues that someone must have broke in to the house right after they left for the memorial. Doug III thinks back to stealing the necklace after Jennifer and Julie left. Jennifer tells Julie that they wondered if it could be a random stranger but questions why they would take the necklace and nothing else or how they would even know there was a necklace to steal. Julie responds that she has no idea, but her heart tells her that her brother did not do it.

Chad decides he and Cat will go to the Pink Kitten Club to stall Clyde as long as they can, while instructing JJ and Gabi to go to the address to the apartment that Clyde’s been staying at to see if they can find any information on Abigail’s body or Cat’s mother. JJ doesn’t like the idea of Chad going without backup and suggests calling local police after all. Cat argues that they can’t do that because if Clyde gets wind of it, he’ll kill her mother. JJ asks how she’s going to escape a dangerous situation then. Gabi suggests getting what they need from his place and then calling the cops, thus making sure Cat’s mother is safe first. Cat thanks Gabi. JJ questions Gabi being on Cat’s side. Gabi responds that hating Clyde has a way of bringing people together. JJ questions how they know Cat’s still not working with Clyde. Cat repeats that she wants Clyde in chains as much as they do. Chad admits he had the same reservations but they have no choice but to trust Cat, so if they want this plan to work, they need to start moving. Cat asks what if Gabi and JJ come up empty. JJ says they’ll text them. Cat pleads with them not to call the cops until her mother is safe. JJ says that’s Chad’s call which he agrees to. JJ then warns them that they are going to have to get the hell out of there all on their own.

Julie warns Jennifer that it’s a powerful accusation and Steven isn’t here to defend himself. Jennifer informs her that Ciara and Lucas confronted Steven about the necklace but he denied it. Doug III interrupts to point out that Julie said Steven left town in a hurry and his way in and out was through a window. Jennifer gets a text from Jack to meet him in the town square. Julie decides they’ll talk about this later. Jennifer assures they’ll figure it out soon and says she loves her. Jennifer exits as Doug III remarks that he wishes he knew how to help. He asks Julie if she’s okay. Julie cries that she’s definitely not. Julie says it meant so much to her that her brother came to Doug’s memorial service as she hadn’t seen him in so long. Julie cries that it was a blessing for her and now his own family is accusing him of being a thief. Julie declares that it would break her heart. Doug III responds that there’s something she should know.

Hope tells Charles that someday they will meet in person and thanks him as they hang up. Hope then informs Kayla and Roman that Charles confirmed having a son named Doug, who he recently told all about his connection to their family but he was surprised he was in Salem. Kayla guesses Doug III’s story checks out then and he’s not an impostor. Roman notes that Hope is still not satisfied. Hope still wonders what his agenda is with the timing. Hope points out that Julie is very vulnerable right now, so she doesn’t want her being taken advantage of. Roman assures they will look out for her. Hope thanks him and says she has to get to the airport. Kayla repeats that they are so sad about Doug. Roman tells Hope to tell Bo to wake up and that he loves him. Hope hugs Roman and agrees to pass his message along. Hope hugs Kayla and says she loves them so much. Hope then exits the Pub.

JJ and Gabi go to the apartment address that Steve gave them. JJ says he’s not taking any chances and pulls out a gun. JJ hands the gun to Gabi while he picks the lock to the apartment. JJ opens the door and says there’s no one there so they have to work fast. JJ and Gabi begin searching the apartment. Gabi finds a fake ID with Clyde’s picture, using the name George Hazard. They continue searching the apartment.

Chad and Cat go to the back room of the Pink Kitten Club. Chad notes it doesn’t look like anyone is there so they will just have to be patient. Cat worries about dying here and asks how they are going to make sure things go their way. Chad says like this and pulls out his gun while Cat questions what he is doing.

Doug III tells Julie that even if her brother did let her down, he’s always here for her no matter what. Julie thanks him and hugs him as she says it means a lot. Hope then walks in and says she’s sorry to interrupt but it’s time to say goodbye. They talk about hating that it’s so soon but Hope says she really needs to get back to Bo. Julie understands as they embrace. Hope talks about how much Doug loved Julie. Julie says she feels his love all around her and hopes that Hope does too. Hope assures that she always has and always will. Hope asks if Julie will be okay. Julie says she’s’ more concerned that Hope will be okay. Hope says she will call her when she lands as they hug. Julie insists on getting her a box of donuts for her trip, so she heads to the kitchen. Doug III tells Hope that it was nice to meet her. Hope hopes he’ll take care of Julie while she’s gone. He says he just promised her that. Hope warns that she’s glad to hear that because she’s very protective of Julie and if he hurts her in any way, she’ll be back but not so friendly next time.

Jennifer meets Jack and Steve in the town square. Jennifer asks if this is about Chad and JJ. Jack informs her that they have news. Steve says that Chad and Cat are going to meet Clyde soon. Jennifer asks what happened to JJ and Gabi. Jack says that Chad told them that the plan had to change on the fly but the good news is that Steve was able to track down an address for Clyde. Steve explains that Chad and Cat are going to stall Clyde while JJ and Gabi search his place for information about Abigail. Jennifer worries that it doesn’t sound less dangerous. Jack says it might be their only chance to find their daughter’s body. Jennifer assures that if there is something to mind, JJ will find it.

JJ and Gabi continue searching Clyde’s apartment until JJ finds Clyde’s laptop, but it’s password protected. Gabi correctly guesses his password is “Nancy”. JJ gets in and says it looks like he can access his text messages from there. Clyde then arrives with his gun raised, surprising Gabi and JJ.

Chad holds his gun on Cat, reminding her that they need to make this look good. Chad calls out to Clyde that he did what he wanted and brought him Cat. Chad shouts that he knows Clyde is there but the door opens and they are shocked to see Cat’s mother, Catharina enter with a gun.

Leo sits in the town square with his laptop. Rafe joins him and says he got his message, so he asks what was so urgent that he needed to be there immediately. Leo shows Rafe his laptop and says that Lady Whistleblower has struck again.

Jada goes home where Javi is using his phone and asks Javi if she was interrupting something.

Joy meets EJ outside of the Brady Pub. EJ gives her the check and orders her to pack her things and go. Joy hesitates so EJ asks if they have a problem.

At the DiMera Mansion, Alex argues to Johnny that Joy doesn’t want to leave her job and admitted she loves her job when he tried to talk her out of leaving. Johnny gets upset and tells Alex that this is none of his business, telling him to butt out before he messes everything up right as Chanel comes home and asks what the hell is going on in here. Chanel asks if anyone is going to tell her what they are fighting about. Johnny claims it’s nothing but Chanel says it didn’t sound like nothing. Alex then informs her that it’s about Joy.

Jada notes that Javi seems very protective of his phone. Javi jokes that he was putting together his top secret Christmas shopping list. Jada mentions being surprised that Rafe didn’t beat her home since she stayed at the office late. Javi informs her that he actually did but he got a message and left. Jada asks about the message. Javi says it was for his job at Black Patch and apparently from Leo.

Rafe laughs off Leo’s emergency being about Lady Whistleblower. Leo complains that his impostor has dropped another column stuffed with more Body and Soul spoilers including his story about an island called Weivenip being the backwards version of Pineview which came to him in a dream. Rafe questions the plot holes to the island. Leo argues that he hired him to find the impostor before everything gets spoiled.

Chanel questions why Alex and Johnny would be fighting about Joy. Alex informs her that there’s something that she needs to know as it affects her. Chanel asks what it is. Alex starts to explain but Johnny jumps in and claims that Alex slept with Joy.

EJ tells Joy to take the check while Joy complains that she really liked her job. EJ acknowledges the sacrifice and says that’s why he’s offering such a generous sum, reminding her that she agreed to take it. EJ adds that there are plenty of jobs out there and with this money, she could go back to school and get a master’s degree or she could head to Los Angeles for acting with a fresh start. EJ mentions having an old friend on the west coast who is a filmmaker always looking for fresh talent. EJ insists that he can help her, but she knows what she must do. Joy then takes the check as Kate walks up and questions what is going on.

Jada tells Javi that she was pretty surprised when Leo showed up on Thanksgiving and hired Rafe to find out who was spoiling stories. Javi says he was more surprised that Rafe accepted even after he went over a list of Leo’s crimes. Javi remarks that Rafe didn’t listen to him when he told him not to meet with Leo. Jada questions why he would tell him that.

Leo shows Rafe more of Lady Whistleblower spoiling his stories and complains that somebody is obviously out to get him. Leo adds that none of the cast knew about the stories. Rafe asks if anyone else had access to his computer. Leo mentions catching Javi on it after he came out of the shower in his room. Rafe says Javi told him all about it and how Leo accused him of being Lady Whistleblower. Leo confirms he did but he thinks subconsciously that he thought Javi was too good for him, so to protect himself, he pushed him away. Leo says he reminds himself every day that good things are possible. Leo admits he feels really terrible about screwing things up with Javi. Rafe asks if there are any other suspects. Leo says that Salem is fertile ground for producing a cohort of the duplicitous and underhanded. Leo then stops and declares he thinks he knows who it is.

Kate didn’t realize EJ and Joy knew each other. EJ tells Kate that they were just talking about her which Kate questions. EJ says she is the producer of Body and Soul, so he thinks Kate should know that Joy has decided to quit the show. Kate questions Joy as to why that is. Joy responds that she’s not really sure it’s for her, claiming she has anxiety and that she’s missing New York. Kate says she’s not unsympathetic but she can’t allow her to quit because she has an ironclad contract and she wouldn’t want to be in breach of that.

Chanel questions Alex sleeping with Joy. Johnny claims that Alex just told him. Chanel questions why Alex would tell Johnny that. Johnny says he sensed something going on with them at rehearsal, so Alex dropped by to go over some script edits and he admitted it. Chanel questions why they were fighting about it. Johnny says he was just concerned that it might not be a good idea and asks Alex if that’s right.

Jada questions Javi as to why he didn’t want Rafe to meet Leo. Javi calls Leo a complete and total jerk for accusing him of being Lady Whistleblower off of sketchy circumstantial evidence after they had a pretty hot first date. Javi says that after Leo turned on him, he realized he was better off without him, so he doesn’t want Rafe to be sucked in to Leo’s vortex. Jada thinks it’s sweet that Javi wants to protect Rafe, but jokes that they aren’t going to sleep together and Rafe is only helping Leo find out whoever took over the column. Jada asks Javi why he doesn’t want Rafe to help Leo with the case.

Leo tells Rafe that he believes Kate is the Lady Whistleblower since he pitches her the stories so she knows them. Rafe questions why Kate would want to sabotage her own show. Leo then suggests it’s both Kate and Abe since they are the producers. Leo relates it to the plot of the Broadway musical The Producers, suggesting Abe and Kate are going to make money by tanking their own show. Rafe says he doesn’t buy it. Leo tells Rafe to come up with something then and asks if he has any ideas. Rafe responds that he actually does.

EJ tells Kate that he’s well aware that Joy has a contract. Kate tells EJ that contracts are legally binding. EJ claims that is why Joy hired him. EJ says that Joy is a young actress with talent and knows what is best for her, so he took her case for free. EJ says he’s sure they can work this out for everyone’s benefit. EJ says Joy has become deeply unhappy, so he’s sure Kate won’t hold her to some contract and wouldn’t get the best out of an actress who already has a foot out the door. Kate says she wouldn’t want someone working for her who doesn’t want to be there. Kate argues that Joy is their Regan and everyone loves her. EJ argues that she could recast the role as he’s told that’s a fairly common practice. Kate says they could but she doesn’t want to. Kate argues that Joy has a very special gift and if she puts her mind to it, she thinks Joy will be a big star. Kate promises that she and Abe will work with her to address any concerns. Kate asks Joy to reconsider and not break her contract.

Chanel questions Alex and Johnny having a knock down drag out fight because Alex is having a fling with Joy. Alex goes along with it and claims it’s true that Johnny wasn’t happy when he told him that he slept with Joy. Chanel asks if that’s what Johnny meant by saying Alex is going to ruin everything. Johnny claims he was just concerned after the whole Alex and Stephanie fiasco, that this would only cause more problems. Alex says he was just telling Johnny that what he and Joy do are their business, joking that it’s not like they are married so they aren’t hurting anybody. Chanel says that’s not exactly true.

Jada questions Javi being worried about Rafe taking Leo’s case. Javi talks about not trusting Leo and questions if Rafe will ever figure out who Lady Whistleblower is, joking about who it could be. Javi remarks that Leo seems adamant to take someone down for this and if Rafe doesn’t find the culprit, he wouldn’t put it past Leo to blame Rafe himself. Jada doubts that, pointing out that this person is messing with Leo’s livelihood, so if she was Leo, she would want it solved too. Javi gets a text and says he has to go, then quickly exits which Jada calls abrupt.

Leo asks Rafe who his suspect is but Rafe doesn’t want to say. Leo questions why not. Rafe says he doesn’t want to accuse anyone without concrete evidence. Rafe feels if he tells Leo, then he will accuse them. Leo argues that he’s paying Rafe. Rafe says that’s all the more reason to stay tight-lipped about it. Rafe says they cannot let the person know they are investigating and if Leo goes around making false accusations, word will get out. Rafe tells Leo to give him some time and if he comes up with something concrete, he’ll let him know. Leo asks Rafe to work fast and then asks if he would be willing to put in a good word for him with Javi. Leo argues that he is a decent guy. Rafe agrees to put in a good word for him but warns that once Javi puts his mind to something, he isn’t likely to change it and it seems like he’s made up his mind. Leo acknowledges that he really messed that up as Rafe then walks away.

Alex questions who Chanel thinks is getting hurt by he and Joy sleeping together. Chanel argues that it hurts Joy because there’s clearly a power imbalance in their relationship. Chanel says it’s not the same as the actor and the publicist, but Joy is new in town and vulnerable. Chanel adds that she and Johnny promised to look out for Joy. Chanel brings up that Alex still isn’t over Stephanie so she doesn’t want Joy to get hurt. Alex tells Chanel not to worry because he doesn’t want anyone to get hurt either.

EJ tells Kate that Joy will not be pressured in to anything as she’s made her decision. Kate tells EJ to let Joy speak for herself. Joy responds that Kate is right and declares that she wants to stay. Kate calls that such good news and tells Joy not to worry as she and Abe will happily address all o her concerns. Kate says she’ll start working on the schedule and knows they can make adjustments to get Joy to New York more often. Kate knows Joy misses her family but adds that Body and Soul is now her family too. Kate then heads in to the Brady Pub. EJ questions Joy about what the hell that was.

Chanel decides she should head upstairs to learn her lines for tomorrow and exits. Alex then asks Johnny what the hell was that. Alex questions why Johnny would tell Chanel that he and Joy slept together. Johnny says he had to think fast and apologizes. Johnny adds that it doesn’t matter since Joy is leaving town. Alex complains that now Chanel is going to think that’s his fault. Johnny apologizes again and admits that he panicked. Johnny suggests they take a deep breath and insists everything is going to be fine if Alex doesn’t say anything. Alex reluctantly agrees even though he looks like the bad guy now thanks to Johnny. Alex decides that out of respect for Chanel and not wanting anyone else to get hurt, he won’t say anything. Johnny thanks him but Alex says not to thank him as he doesn’t deserve it because he handled this like a little bitch.

EJ questions why Joy told Kate that she’s staying and what she’s trying to pull. Joy says she realized Kate was right that she does like her job and being an actress, so she questions why she should give that up. EJ argues that she’s interfering in his son’s marriage. Joy argues that Johnny bears quite a bit of responsibility for what happened. EJ asks if she wants him to double her money. Joy says she’s sorry that Johnny is not comfortable with her being around but he’s going to have to get used to it because she’s not going anywhere. Joy then walks away.

Rafe goes home to Jada, who asks how it went with Leo. Rafe asks how she knew he was meeting with Leo. Jada jokes that she’s the police commissioner so she knows everything in this town. Jada then admits that Javi told her and that he wasn’t too happy that Rafe took the case. Rafe assures he made that clear. Jada asks about the case and if he has any leads. Rafe admits he has a hunch on who it might be. Jada asks if he cares to share. Rafe suggests Hattie Adams since she was fired shortly after taping Body and Soul and was pretty upset about it, even putting a curse on the show. Jada mentions hearing about that. Rafe thinks it’s a pretty good lead. Jada asks if he’s going to track Hattie down. Rafe responds that he is and asks if she has a problem with that.

Leo remains in the town square with his laptop and continues reading the spoilers in Lady Whistleblower’s column. Leo remarks that he can’t even be bad since they aren’t a bad writer. Javi then appears and says it’s a shame what happened after he read Lady Whistleblower’s column. Leo asks if he’s gloating now and rubbing it in. Leo guesses he deserves that after accusing him. Leo tells Javi that he really loved being a head writer as it was fun and exciting and he finally felt respected, but now it’s all gone up in smoke. Javi says he understands as he remembers how excited Leo was to watch the premiere, so it’s obvious how much the job meant to him. Javi tells Leo that for what it’s worth, he’s sorry it’s going bad for him. Leo brings up today’s episode and invites Javi to his room to watch it with him. Javi questions Leo inviting him to his room. Leo says it’s just to watch the show and suggests they could order room service. Kerry, the guy that Leo almost hooked up with a few months ago, then approaches. Javi questions them knowing each other. Leo flashes back to when they were in his hotel room together. Kerry explains that they went out once but Leo didn’t think they had a spark. Leo says it wasn’t that and asks if they know each other. Javi says they don’t know each other yet while Kerry reveals they matched on a dating app. Javi then informs Leo that he and Kerry are on a date. They agree to go to Small Bar, so Javi tells Leo to have a great night as he and Kerry walk away.

Rafe questions Jada having a problem with him tracking down Hattie. Jada brings up that Hattie is her main suspect in the poisoned cupcakes and adds that she already has an APB out on her, so she doesn’t need Black Patch getting in the way and she doesn’t want the investigation messed up. Rafe jokes that Javi warned them about him working for Black Patch throwing a wrench in to her investigations. Jada says she’s just asking that he let her take the lead on finding Hattie. Rafe questions why he should since he’s a private investigator and it’s legal for him to trail someone. Jada argues that it’s an active police investigation. Rafe argues that if they weren’t together, she wouldn’t even know about it. Jada complains that Rafe could end up spooking Hattie off while Rafe questions if she’s worried that Paulina will think he’s doing a better job than her. Jada says that’s not it and decides may the best investigator win. They shake hands as Rafe wishes her luck.

Johnny paces in the living room as EJ comes home. Johnny asks if he gave Joy her check. EJ responds that he handed it to her but Kate interrupted and talked Joy in to believing she would become the next Julia Roberts and that she would address all of her on set concerns. EJ assures that he tried to convince her but Joy wouldn’t listen and has decided to stick around. Chanel then comes back downstairs.

Alex goes over his lines at home until Joy shows up at his door. Joy says she won’t stay long and just wanted to let him know that she didn’t take the money, so she’s staying which excites Alex. Alex asks what changed her mind. Joy informs him that Kate happened to be walking by as she was taking the money and she made her realize that she really wants this job, so she won’t cave in. Alex congratulates her for standing up to EJ. Alex says there’s also something he needs to tell her. Alex then informs Joy that Chanel now believes they are sleeping together.

Chanel questions why Johnny looks like he just got cheating on an algebra test. EJ asks Chanel how things are on Body and Soul. Chanel says things are going well and she’s really connecting to her character. Chanel mentions having ten scenes with Joy tomorrow and asks Johnny to run lines with her which he agrees to. Chanel says goodnight to EJ and heads back upstairs. Johnny tells EJ that he can’t handle this. EJ says he has no choice and he’s afraid he will have to learn to live with his secret. Johnny then heads upstairs.

Chad and Cat arrive at a motel room in Vancouver, Canada. Chad talks about Clyde tracking their every move and hopes that he believes they are the couple that checked in across the street.

JJ and Gabi check in as Mr & Mrs. DiMera at the hotel in Vancouver.

Paulina, Lani, and Chanel are having facials at home after doing their nails. Paulina talks about wanting to see the twins as much as possible before Lani and Eli go back to Washington DC. Chanel talks about being so glad they had this time together. Lani comments that they wanted to see Johnny more too and thought she and Eli could double date with Chanel and Johnny, but maybe next time. Paulina remarks that it’s for the best which Lani questions. Chanel says it can wait but Paulina urges her to tell Lani how much of a jackass Johnny has been.

Johnny sits in the living rom of the DiMera Mansion with his tablet as EJ walks in. Johnny mentions working on filming a big confrontation between Chanel and Joy’s characters tomorrow. EJ suggests he not work so hard on that as he informs Johnny that Joy’s character will have to be recast since she won’t be available to tape those scenes.

Joy goes to Alex’s apartment and informs him that she came to say goodbye. Alex questions what she means. Joy says she’s going back to New York and quitting Body and Soul. Alex argues that she barely started and asks how she can quit. Joy says she’s unsure about acting as that was her mom’s dream and not her dream. Alex argues that everyone loves her and questions where this is coming from. Joy remarks that it would be best for everyone. Alex guesses she means best for Johnny because she doesn’t want Chanel to find out that she hooked up with her husband.

Johnny questions EJ as to why Joy would be unavailable. EJ reveals that when Joy was over for Thanksgiving, he made her a generous proposition to leave Body and Soul and Salem for good.

Cat asks Chad what if Clyde already suspects them or knows they are using Gabi and JJ as decoys. Chad feels if Clyde knew that, they’d already be dead. Chad starts unpacking his bag. Cat mentions that she assumed this was her room. Chad says it’s going to be his too. Cat points out that there’s only one bed. Chad explains that he doesn’t trust her, so he’s not letting her out of his sight.

JJ is given a letter from Clyde that was left for Mr. and Mrs. DiMera at the hotel front desk.

Joy tells Alex that she thought she could work with Chanel and Johnny with no drama but Chanel keeps inviting over and wanting to be her best friend, so it’s too much. Alex questions why Joy should be the one to leave town and how she’s going to break her contract. Joy explains that she has somebody taking care of it for her. Alex questions if it’s Johnny but Joy admits it’s EJ.

Johnny questions EJ as he reveals that he offered to buy out Joy’s contract and to give her a very generous sum to leave town. Johnny asks why he would do that. EJ explains how Johnny said it was torture to be between Chanel and Joy. EJ adds that it’s been a very difficult year so all he wanted was a fresh start for Thanksgiving but Joy came along and ruined everything. Johnny tries to argue that she didn’t mean to since Chanel wants Joy to feel at home in Salem. EJ remarks that Chanel is blissfully oblivious about Johnny and Joy, but if Joy keeps showing up, he knows the pressure on Johnny to tell Chanel the truth will be insurmountable so he took care of the problem for him. Johnny can’t believe it and argues that EJ can’t just make decisions and fix his problems as it’s none of his business. Johnny wants EJ to call Joy and undo this.

Paulina tells Lani about Johnny mistaking Stephanie for Chanel. Chanel argues that Paulina said she only cares about her being happy. Paulina says that’s true but Chanel says if it was, she wouldn’t be badmouthing Johnny. Paulina agrees to drop it. Chanel wishes Paulina hadn’t brought it up but explains to Lani that Johnny never actually saw who Alex was with after Seth Burns told him. Chanel then stops and says that she’s doing her best to forgive and forget, so they can move forward. Lani admits she can kind of see things from Johnny’s perspective, revealing that before they came to Salem, she kind of made the same mistake with JJ.

JJ gives Gabi the letter to read while he checks the room for listening devices in the room. Gabi reads the letter from Clyde, saying if they want to know where Abigail’s remains are, Chad will hand over Cat and he will be in touch in the morning with further instruction. Gabi tells JJ how nervous she is. JJ appreciates Gabi doing this for Abigail. Gabi responds that she’s doing this for herself too as she needs to make sure that Clyde never hurts anyone she cares about ever again.

Cat tells Chad that since Clyde has a bounty on her, she’s not leaving the room whether he has his eye on her or not. Chad brings up the possibility of her going rogue. Cat says her mom’s life is on the line, so she wouldn’t do that. Chad reminds her that he will do his best to find her mom, but his priority is finding Abigail’s remains and bringing her home. Cat remarks that she’s happy to know that his dead wife trumps her mom hopefully still being alive and where his priorities stand. Chad warns her not to talk about his wife like that ever again after what her and Mark did to he and his family. Cat complains about not getting to do anything but what Chad says because she apparently doesn’t have her own life anymore. Chad gets that she’s a victim too but decides he doesn’t have the energy for this as he has to call Jennifer to check in on the kids. Cat then goes to take a shower.

JJ tells Gabi that the room is all clear so he thinks they are good. JJ decides he will let Chad know about Clyde’s move, but then he gets a call from Jack. Gabi questions him not answering it. JJ says that Jennifer has called about six times and he knows they are just going to try to convince him to come home. Gabi suggests he just get it over with. JJ then answers Jack’s call and tells him not to bother trying to talk him out of this as nothing will change his mind. Jack then reveals to JJ that Doug has passed away. JJ is shocked and thanks him for letting him know as he hangs up. Gabi asks JJ what happened, so he reveals that Doug died.

Lani explains to Chanel and Paulina that JJ was having a difficult time with his mental health so they decided to take some space for him to get better, but she saw him with Gabi so she just assumed they were sleeping together then she got so upset that she ran to sleep with Eli. Paulina remarks that she bets Lani never called JJ a cheating slut. Lani says the point is that she upended all of their lives as that night she slept with Eli was the night she got pregnant with her first child. Chanel apologizes for bringing up a painful memory. Lani says it’s okay as she thinks about her lost child every day. Paulina appreciates Lani relating but doesn’t think the two situations are comparable, arguing that Lani and JJ were separated at the time. Chanel says she can see where Lani is coming from and brings up that she could never get over when Allie cheated on her so she’s thankful that Johnny didn’t turn to someone else when he thought she was sneaking around with Alex, because if he had done that, she doesn’t think she could live with that…

Johnny asks EJ to call Joy and retract his offer. EJ says there’s no point as she already accepted. Johnny wants him to tell her that he changed his mind which EJ says is bad form. Johnny asks how he will explain Joy suddenly leaving her job. EJ suggests saying she’s homesick for New York City. EJ states that Joy will get her golden parachute, no one will know the wiser, and they will live happily ever after. EJ insists to Johnny that this is the best solution. Johnny calls it blackmail while EJ notes that it’s technically bribery but at least it’s not murder. EJ asks Johnny to let him do this for him.

Alex tells Joy it’s a terrible deal and questions why she would accept that. Joy says she thought about it for a whole day and thinks it is the best thing for everybody. Joy adds that she could use the money and a new beginning. Alex questions her walking away from her first acting job and how it will be terrible to her. Alex argues against Joy getting forced out of town when she loves this job. Alex suggests Joy be smart about this as this is vintage DiMera crap playing God with people’s lives. Alex advises Joy to tell EJ to take his offer and shove it.

Chad finishes a call with Jennifer to check on the kids as Cat comes out of the shower. Cat asks Chad what’s wrong. Chad informs her that Doug passed away shortly after they left. Cat says she’s so sorry. Chad comments that Doug was so full of life and the house will be really quiet when they go home. Cat talks about Doug being sweet and never saying an unkind word to her. Chad feels he should be home with the kids since they loved Doug and they were lucky to live there. Chad talks about Doug always being there for the kids. Chad wishes his own father was more like Doug. Cat repeats that she’s really sorry for his loss and asks if there’s anything she can do, but Chad says there’s nothing.

Gabi tells JJ that she’s sorry about Doug and how they all wish they could have a love like Doug and Julie. Gabi asks if he’s okay. JJ talks about how he and Doug had a whole music set for Christmas. JJ recalls just talking about how Doug gave him Alice’s old wedding ring to propose to Lani even though he knew he was jumping in to something he wasn’t ready for. JJ guesses it all worked out now that Lani is married to Doug’s grandson. JJ cries that he’s really going to miss Doug. Gabi says she’s so sorry as she hugs JJ.

Lani tells Paulina and Chanel that the most traumatic thing can bring you closer to someone. Lani says losing her son David Abraham was the most painful thing she had ever been through but grieving together brought her and Eli closer together. Paulina points out that now they have twins and a beautiful life together. Lani admits there were bumps along the way. Chanel talks about just wanting to make Johnny feel better when he was sick. Lani says if they feel that way, she has nothing to worry about and their marriage is strong like her and Eli. Chanel says she hopes so.

Johnny tells EJ that he hates this and it’s not fair to anyone. EJ argues that if he doesn’t want Chanel to know the truth, then he knows this is for the best. EJ knows Johnny feels bad but says he shouldn’t destroy his entire marriage for a one time lapse of judgment. Johnny reluctantly gives in and thanks EJ, but notes that there is one more loose end he should know about. Johnny informs EJ that someone else found out about him and Joy.

Joy tells Alex that she can’t back out of a deal she made with EJ DiMera as he’s seriously scary and the DiMeras are a mob family. Alex argues that the district attorney shouldn’t be bullying and blackmailing people. Joy says he did both and she’s about to meet EJ to give her check. Joy says she can’t back out and she doesn’t want anyone to ever know the truth including Chanel. Joy asks Alex to stay out of this.

Cat suggests maybe Chad could make it back to Salem in time for Doug’s funeral but Chad says he already missed it as Julie didn’t want to bother him and figured he should stay focused on going after Clyde. Cat asks if they can try not to fight as she doesn’t want to add to his grief and stress. Chad says they’ll just do what they need to do to get Clyde and then get the hell out of here. Chad calls JJ and informs him that he just spoke to Jennifer. JJ notes that he just talked to Jack, who told him about Doug. Chad says he’s sorry they weren’t there. JJ knows Doug would want them to be there doing what they are doing for Abigail. Chad asks if there’s any news from Clyde. JJ informs Chad that he left him a note that said he’ll be in touch in the morning. Chad decides they’ll just come up with a plan for when they hear from him then.

Chanel asks if Lani is okay. Lani says she’s just sad about leaving tomorrow. Chanel says they are too but they’ll see her again for Christmas. Lani says as long as Eli can get time off. Paulina jokes that she tried to talk them in to coming back but they are having too much fun in DC. Lani insists it’s about their jobs and not wanting to uproot the twins, but they aren’t ruling out coming back. Chanel says until they do come back, there will be a lot of visits. Chanel decides she should get dressed to get back to her husband. Chanel tells Lani she loves her as they hug and says she’s so glad they go to do this. Lani talks about how she gets to watch Chanel on Body and Soul. Chanel admits she’s starting to wonder if it’s such a good idea to work with her husband. Lani knows how that is but says it does have it’s perks. Chanel admits they get to see each other more and it has been good, so she thinks it’s only going to get better.

EJ questions why Joy was shooting her mouth off to Alex. EJ doesn’t think Joy is as innocent as Johnny makes her out to be since she’s caused trouble at every turn. Johnny argues that Joy just needed someone to talk to and didn’t plan on telling Alex, but he said he wouldn’t tell anyone because he cares about Chanel and doesn’t want her to get hurt. EJ asks if it’s occurred to him that Alex might use the information to make sure he always has the upper hand with Johnny. Johnny doesn’t think he would do that. EJ hopes for his sake that he’s right about that.

Alex tells Joy that he thinks she’s going to regret this decision, but he promised not to say anything to Chanel so he won’t. Joy thanks him and says she’s sure they’ll find someone else to play Regan Holloway. Alex says he enjoyed working with her and hopes maybe their paths will cross again someday. Alex tells her that he’s sorry as Joy then exits his apartment. Alex then puts his jacket on, grabs his keys, and heads out as well.

Cat tells Chad that she couldn’t find a delivery service and there’s no room service but they have peanuts. Chad thanks her and looks out the window. Cat says she’s pretty exhausted so she’s just going to go to sleep. Cat tells Chad that he should take the bed but Chad says it was his idea to share a room, so he insists that she take the bed. Chad says he might be on the lookout tonight anyway. Cat feels they should take turns and he should get some sleep too. Chad doesn’t think he could if he wanted to and tells Cat to get some sleep, so she says goodnight. Cat lays down in bed while Chad remains looking out the window.

JJ tells Gabi that Chad gave them his gold card so she can order whatever she wants from room service. Gabi asks what he wants but JJ says he’s not hungry and just wants to get to bed so they can get to tomorrow. Gabi feels the same and says she’s exhausted, so no food for her either. JJ tells Gabi to take the bed but Gabi argues that it’s not like they haven’t shared a bed before and they both need a good night sleep for tomorrow. Gabi says there’s plenty of room for both of them so JJ asks if she’s sure. Gabi says she is so they both get in bed to sleep.

Lani and Paulina go to Lani’s son David Abraham’s grave. Lani notes that somebody already brought flowers. Paulina reveals that she did as she comes to visit every few weeks since he’s forever part of their family. Lani talks about thinking about him all the time and says she loves him so much.

Joy meets EJ outside of the Brady Pub. EJ gives her the check and orders her to pack her things and go.

Alex goes to the DiMera Mansion and confronts Johnny, asking where his daddy is. Johnny says he’s not there and asks what he can do for him. Alex assumes that Johnny knows EJ offered Joy money to leave town and assumes that Johnny put him up to it. Johnny assures that it was not his idea and he feels awful about it. Alex asks if he doesn’t feel awful enough to stop him. Johnny knows Joy told him about what happened between them. Alex confirms Joy told him all about it and calls this a huge loss for the show. Johnny says Joy can be recast while Alex remarks that Johnny is just as replaceable. Alex argues that Joy doesn’t want to leave her job and admitted she loves her job when he tried to talk her out of leaving. Johnny gets upset and tells Alex that this is none of his business, telling him to butt out before he messes everything up, right as Chanel comes home and asks what the hell is going on in here.

Belle sits in the living room, looking at her wedding ring on her finger as Marlena comes in and joins her. Marlena says she heard Shawn’s voice and thought about saying hello, but figured they might want some time together. Marlena asks how it went and if they were able to work things out. Belle says no, but they did come to a decision and announces their marriage is over.

Shawn sits at the Brady Pub. Philip comes in and calls him his favorite nephew. Shawn remarks that he thought his day couldn’t suck any worse.

Stephanie is at the Body and Soul studio, doing PR work on the phone. Stephanie convinces Daily Confidential to not run the Body and Soul spoilers by promising them an exclusive interview with Alex, shirtless. Stephanie hangs up and declares that now she just has to get the other numerous publications not to run the leaks. Stephanie gets a call but says that will have to wait until tomorrow as she cannot deal with one more headache today. Xander then arrives and declares that he knows what she’s been up to, so he’s here to put a stop to it.

Ciara comments to Lucas on Leo really letting them have it. Lucas questions Leo being an expert on Steven after spending five minutes with him. Ciara worries about if Leo was right that Steven was innocent and they just accused the wrong person of stealing Alice’s necklace.

At the Horton house, Doug III approaches the mantle and looks at the family photos as he then pulls out Alice’s diamond necklace from his pocket. Hope then comes home and calls out for Julie, asking if anyone is there. Hope enters the living room and asks who Doug is and if she knows him. He responds that his name is Doug Williams. Hope gets upset and argues that her father is Doug Williams, not him.

Shawn tells Philip that he’s not in the mood for him. Philip says he’s not looking for trouble and just wanted to say he’s sorry about his Grandfather as he was a great man. Shawn doesn’t think he will ever get used to thinking of Doug in the past tense. Philip relates to feeling the same about Victor. Philip thought Shawn was on the wagon. Shawn questions that being his business. Philip advises him that getting hammered won’t make the grief go away. Shawn then informs him that it’s non-alcoholic. Philip says he’s glad for his and Belle’s sake. Shawn responds that whether he drinks or doesn’t is not Belle’s problem anymore. Philip asks what he means. Shawn then reveals that they are getting divorced.

Stephanie asks Xander what the problem is and says to make it quick because she’s busy. Xander asks her to put a stop to the propaganda machine on Philip’s behalf, effective immediately.

Lucas argues that Ciara knows better than to trust Leo Stark, insisting that Leo and Steven only got along because they are both liars and thieves. Ciara suggests Steven could change but Lucas insists that Steven took the necklace and asks who else would do something like that on the day they say goodbye to Doug.

Hope questions who Doug III is and why he is in her family’s house. Julie then comes in and is shocked to see Hope as they embrace. Julie thought she wasn’t coming and asks if Bo woke up. Hope reveals that he did not wake up after all, but insists that he will someday. Hope apologizes for not getting there sooner. Julie says they will keep praying for Bo and that it’s so good to see her. Hope questions what is going on here and who this person in the house is. Julie hugs Hope and explains that this is Doug’s grandson and Hope’s new nephew.

Marlena asks if Belle was taken by surprise that Shawn wanted to end the marriage. Belle says it was hard to hear but admits that she had been feeling the same way for awhile. Marlena guesses she was just hoping they could work it out. Belle says she was hoping that too, but the feelings they once shared just aren’t there anymore. Belle adds that she’ll always love Shawn and he’s a good man but she thinks their marriage has been over for awhile.

Philip argues that Shawn and Belle have broken up but always end up back together. Shawn says this time feels final. Philip says he’s sorry to hear that which Shawn questions. Philip assures that he has no interest in going after Belle. Shawn asks if that means things are going well for he and Chloe but Philip informs him that things didn’t work out for them either. Philip remarks that he has far more pressing matters to deal with than his love life, like reclaiming his birth right.

Stephanie questions Xander’s problem. Xander tells her it’s obvious that she’s been helping Philip and complains about biased articles about him. Stephanie responds that whether he likes it or not, Philip has a legitimate claim on Titan due to the letter from Victor stating he wanted the company to go to his son, Philip. Xander argues that Victor left him the company in his will. Stephanie asks why he’s so worried about her PR if he’s so sure. Xander argues that they know how it can affect public opinion and suggests that Stephanie start spinning things in his direction instead of Philip’s.

Hope tells Julie that she kind of remembers Doug saying he had a son through IBF. Julie explains that man was this Doug’s father. Hope question why he’s calling himself Doug Williams. Doug explains that his dad told him that he named him after his biological father, so he only recently changed his last name. Julie calls it a miracle for Doug’s grandson to appear. Hope welcomes him and he says he’s very happy to be here among family. Hope asks about Ciara and Shawn. Julie says they had to leave but informs Hope that Ciara opened the time capsule which was full of old family heirlooms including Alice’s diamond necklace. Julie asks if she’d like to see it. Hope says she wants to see all the mementos later, but cries that right now she just wants to see Doug.

Marlena tells Belle that she’s so proud of her for being so strong and knowing who she is. Belle responds that she’s not feeling that strong right now, just very sad. Belle cries that she’s loved Shawn since she was a teenager and even though they had ups and downs, she always assumed they would be together forever. Belle remarks on going to law school to end up drawing up her own divorce papers. Marlena asks Belle to wait there as she has an idea of something that might make her feel a little better.

Shawn questions Philip thinking Victor’s letter trumps his will. Philip questions if he’s saying he thinks Xander deserves the company. Shawn assures that he’s not, says he’s glad that Philip is going after the company and he hopes he gets it.

Stephanie questions Xander wanting her to spin in his direction. Xander brings up that Stephanie once had a mutually beneficial contract with Titan and suggests their two companies could make magic again. Stephanie questions Xander wanting her to work for him. Xander says he’ll make it worth her while and offers to double what Philip is paying her.

Doug III tells Julie that it had to be tough for Hope to miss her dad’s funeral but understands why she did if she thought Bo was waking up from a coma. Julie talks about Bo being the love of Hope’s life, thinking he was dead, then finding him only to lose him again. Ciara and Lucas return, so Julie introduces them to Doug. Julie tells Ciara that Hope was there which surprises her, but causes her to realize that Bo did not wake up. Julie encourages that they have to keep praying for him. Ciara asks where Hope went. Doug says she went to go visit their Grandfather which Ciara questions. Julie then reveals that he is Doug’s grandson, also named Doug Williams.

Hope goes to the cemetery and places flowers on Doug’s grave. Hope cries that she’s really sorry she didn’t get there sooner, but she knows he’s always with her only now she’ll never be able to hug him again and she already misses him. Hope says he will always be in her heart and she loves him so much. Jennifer then joins Hope and hugs her as she cries.

Marlena brings Belle chocolate chip cookies and ice cream as her heart break cure which makes Belle laugh.

Philip questions Shawn saying he’s on his side. Shawn confirms that he is pulling for him. Philip asks why. Shawn says they’ve never seen eye to eye but they grew up together and he watched Victor groom him to run Titan, so he deserves to run it. Philip thanks him and says it means a lot coming from him. Shawn thinks they can both agree that Xander is an untrustworthy menace that will run their family’s reputation in to the ground. Shawn warns that Xander will come after Philip with everything he has. Philip responds that he’s ready for everything he throws at him, which is why he brought in Stephanie as his secret weapon.

Xander asks if Stephanie will come back to Titan. Stephanie calls his offer tempting but says she’s going to pass which Xander questions. Stephanie declares that she made a commitment to Philip so she intends to see it through. Xander asks if that’s all there is to it and brings up their history, asking if Stephanie is standing beside Philip now because she wants back in his bed.

Jennifer encourages Hope to think about how happy Doug would’ve been to see the whole family together. Hope agrees and comments that Julie must have been happy to have Steven there. Hope says she hasn’t seen him since she was a child and asks how he is. Jennifer says Steven is good. Hope is glad as she knows he had his challenges. Jennifer tells her that she’s sorry about Bo as she knows Hope thought he was coming around. Hope talks about being torn as she wanted to be there for Doug but she was terrified to not be there if Bo woke up. Jennifer assures that everyone understood she made the right decision and what’s important is that she’s here now. Jennifer adds that if anyone understood the length she’d go for the love of her life, Doug would. Jennifer points out all the times Doug moved Heaven and Earth for Julie.

Ciara calls it wild to think that Doug had a grandson that they knew nothing about. Ciara asks if Shawn knows yet. Julie says not yet and explains to Doug III that Shawn is Ciara’s brother. Lucas calls it overwhelming to have a lot of new family members to keep track of. Lucas relates to being about Doug’s age when he found out he was apart of the family and he can’t imagine his life without them. Julie mentions wanting to show Hope the contents of the time capsule but she wanted to go see Doug. Lucas starts to say there’s something they need to tell Hope but Doug III interrupts to ask if there’s anything to eat, so Julie goes to the kitchen to heat something up for him. Doug guesses they were about to tell Julie about the missing necklace. Ciara questions how he knew about that. He explains that Jennifer and Marie didn’t want to tell Julie about it as they were concerned about her state of mind. Ciara agrees that it would be devastating for Julie to find out that her brother stole from the family on the day they buried Doug.

Stephanie tells Xander that it’s beyond insulting that he thinks she’s choosing Philip because she wants to sleep with him. Xander remarks that a conspiracy theorist would think she’s aiming higher and that she could be the next queen of Titan. Stephanie argues that none of that interests her and insists that her relationship with Philip is strictly professional. Xander brings up her relationship with Alex. Stephanie then tells Xander to get out. Xander warns her to be careful because Philip will use her to get what he wants and then toss her aside. Xander tells her to have a nice night and exits the studio.

Philip tells Shawn that Stephanie has done a masterful job so far. Shawn insists he’s going to need more than good press to get control of Titan. Philip calls it just step one and says it was important to let the public know he’s capable of running the company. Shawn asks if he’s worried about things getting messy working so close with Stephanie. Philip says they agreed to keep their relationship strictly professional. Shawn questions where he’s heard that before. Shawn then gets a text from Ciara that Hope is in town. Philip says to send them his best and adds that he’s truly sorry about Shawn and Belle. Shawn thanks him and says it’s for the best as it’s time to see who they are as separate people with separate lives.

Belle tells Marlena that she did make her feel better which makes her happy. Marlena asks what to do now and suggests watching a movie. Marlena suggests they watch Doug’s favorite movie “Love, Actually” which Belle agrees with.

Julie, Ciara, Lucas, and Doug III eat together until Ciara gets a text from Shawn and says they have an errand to run so she’ll be back soon. Ciara tells Doug it was nice to meet him and welcomes him to the family as she then exits.

Hope informs Jennifer that she just met Doug Williams. Jennifer acknowledges him as the grandson that Doug never knew he had and calls it unbelievable. Hope remarks that’s one word for it. Jennifer says she knows her detective look and asks what she’s thinking. Hope admits that there’s something about Doug that she doesn’t trust and suggests calling her half brother to see if he’s even his son. Hope states that something just doesn’t sit right with her about this whole thing. Jennifer gets it as she felt the same way about the woman that Chad and Jack found in Missouri, claiming to be Abigail. Jennifer says she knew in her gut that it was wrong. Hope says she was unfortunately right and she’s so sorry. Jennifer questions Hope thinking Doug is lying about his identity. Hope responds that it would be great if someone was keeping an eye on him after she flys back to Europe to be with Bo. Jennifer guesses she’s referring to her which Hope confirms. Hope tells Jennifer it’s so good to see her and she’s missed her so much as they hug. Jennifer tells Hope that she can always count on her. Jennifer then realizes she has to go and says she’s so sorry. Jennifer offers to give her a ride back to the house but Hope says she wants to stay a little longer at the cemetery. Jennifer says she hates to leave her and that she loves her as she then exits. Hope looks back at Doug’s grave.

Philip goes to the Body and Soul studio to see Stephanie and asks if she’s okay as she seems a little tense. Stephanie informs him that Xander just darkened her doorstep. Philip asks what the hell he wanted. Stephanie responds that first Xander ordered her to stop generating positive press for Philip, then he tried to get her to drop Philip as a client and come work for him, even offering to double her pay but she turned him down flat. Philip tells her that he’s happy to hear that but knows it must have been tempting as it’s a lot of money. Stephanie responds that there’s not enough gold that would make her work for Xander and she doesn’t know how Sarah puts up with him. Philip asks what Xander said to her that got her so mad. Stephanie says it doesn’t matter but Philip feels it might make her feel better to talk about it. Stephanie then informs Philip that Xander basically accused her of being a gold digger who sleeps with every guy she works with. Philip calls Xander a jackass. Stephanie declares that he should actually be thanking Xander since after his visit, she’s more determined than ever to help Philip take control of Titan. Philip likes her fire. Stephanie assures that she’s more fired up than ever to help him win this.

Marlena informs Belle that she spoke with Shane earlier to try and get in touch with John, so she’s going to check back with Shane and heads to her room. Belle picks up her phone and calls her daughter Claire. Belle tells her about Doug’s memorial service and says everyone asked about her so she’s definitely missed. Belle adds that she wanted to talk to her about her and Shawn.

Hope remains at Doug’s grave and talks about being so proud to be his daughter. Hope thanks him for everything that he gave her. Hope says he always put his family first and whenever she felt worried or alone, she would close her eyes and see his smile as she’d imagine him telling her everything would be alright. Hope wishes she could hold his hand now. Shawn and Ciara then arrive and embrace Hope. They tell Hope that they are sorry about Bo. Hope insists that Bo is going to wake up and urges them not to give up Hope. Ciara knows how hard it must have been for Hope to leave Bo’s bedside. Hope states that today is about Doug and tells them how much Doug loved them. They vow to always keep Doug in their hearts as they hug.

Lucas and Julie tell Doug III about the time JJ put pot in brownies. Jennifer comes home and joins them. Lucas talks about officially welcoming Doug in to the family while Jennifer thinks back to Hope expressing her doubts about him.

Jennifer, Lucas, Ciara, and Marie return to the Horton house. . Marie asks about the time capsule. Ciara tells Marie about Alice’s diamond necklace that had been locked away for over 60 years. Ciara goes to the time capsule and says she could’ve sworn that Julie put the necklace back in the box. Jennifer confirms that she did but Ciara reveals it’s not in there and questions where it could’ve gone. Lucas says it better turn up soon because the necklace was priceless. Jennifer comments on the sentimental value. Marie argues that they would’ve noticed if someone broke in and stole it. Lucas suggests maybe whoever took it didn’t need to break in…

Steven Olson sits at the Tom and Alice plaque in the town square. Steven comments on who knew the treasure that Alice was holding in the house. Steven admits the old him might have been tempted by that diamond necklace, but he’s a changed man. Leo appears at a nearby table and quotes Dolly Parton to Steven.

Shawn shows up at Marlena’s to see Belle and says he knows he should’ve called first but they didn’t get much of a chance to talk at Doug’s memorial. Shawn notes that Belle seemed a little surprised to see him. Belle says probably as surprised as he was to see her at the memorial. Belle explains that Claire got sick and couldn’t make it, so she hopes she didn’t overstep. Shawn assures that she didn’t and he’s glad she came.

Julie sits at the cemetery, crying over Doug and says all she ever wanted was to be his wife, so she questions what to do now. Julie is then approached by a young man, who introduces himself as Doug Williams. Julie tells him that Doug Williams is deceased. He responds that he knows that, but he’s very much alive. Julie says she doesn’t know what his story is, but this is Doug’s grave and she was his wife. Doug responds that he knows that and that they were crazy about each other since Doug got out of jail and came to Salem. Doug reveals that he also got out of jail today and came to Salem to see Julie.

Marie tells Lucas that it doesn’t make any sense since they would’ve seen someone steal the necklace if they didn’t break in. Jennifer points out that they weren’t close to the necklace at every moment. Marie suggests maybe Julie put it somewhere for safe keeping but Lucas and Jennifer assure that they saw her put it back in the box before the funeral. Lucas notes that Julie went upstairs to get ready with Steven.

Leo tells Steven that he used to make a living off overhearing things he wasn’t supposed to hear but assures him that hearing him talking to the plaque of Tom and Alice will go no further than here. Steven questions who he is. Leo introduces himself. Steven confesses that he could really use a drink, so Leo invites him to join him.

Belle tells Shawn that Doug’s memorial was a beautiful ceremony and so many people came to pay respects. Shawn thanks her for coming all the way. Belle says she wanted to be there for him to show support and how much she loves Doug and Julie. Shawn tells Belle that Doug thought the world of her, as does Julie. Shawn adds that since they are finally in the same place at the same time, he thinks they need to talk about their marriage. Belle mentions that Marlena was just asking how they were doing and she just told her that they hadn’t seen each other in awhile until today, so it’s been a strange year. Shawn agrees and talks about going to rehab and focusing on his recovery, so he hasn’t had much time or energy to work on them and their relationship. Belle says she’s just so glad he’s getting the help he needed. Belle understands that he was under a tremendous amount of stress while worrying about Bo and taking care of Hope which is why she thought it was best to give him space and that’s why she went to Hong Kong. Belle admits that all the time apart and space between them has prevented them from confronting their issues. Shawn agrees that what they need to do now is make a decision.

Leo assumes Steven is in Salem for Doug’s funeral. Steven confirms that and informs Leo that Julie is his sister. Leo comments that most people in Salem don’t think very highly of him and jokes that he would feel pressure to live up to expectations if they did like him. Steven says he’s sorry to hear that but he finds Leo to be very personable and charming. Steven adds that he’s impressed by his self awareness. Leo tells him that he feels the same and already considers him a friend. Steven responds that it’s good to have a new friend. Leo asks how long it’s been since he has been in Salem. Steven responds that it’s been many moons. Leo asks what caused him to abandon the town. Steven reveals that he had to leave Salem, so Leo says he would love to know why. Steven agrees to share since he sees Leo is not judgmental. Leo assures that he won’t judge so Steven explains that he got involved in some shady dealings and did some questionable things that he shouldn’t have. Steven informs Leo that one of his petty crimes was skimming tips when he worked at Doug and Julie’s coffee shop and then when he worked for Julie’s antique shop, he stored some questionable goods there which resulted in Julie inadvertently selling canes filled with cocaine. Steven says he finds it cleansing to open up about his past mistakes and reveals that he was also involved in fencing stolen jewels. Leo informs Steven that he too has dabbled in to jewel theft. Steven tells Leo that his involvement was with diamonds from Trish Clayton, who lifted them from a drug smuggler name Durand and he was caught in the middle. Steven says he’s deeply ashamed of the man he was at that time and how he lived his life, but says he’s put all of that behavior behind him and his life of crime is a thing of the past.

Ciara questions if Lucas thinks Uncle Steven took the diamond necklace. Marie says it wouldn’t be surprising if he did, revealing that Steven left town because of stolen diamonds. Jennifer can’t imagine that Steven would commit a crime against his own sister after she just lost her husband. Lucas says he can believe it after what Marie said and wants to go find Steven to question him. Ciara asks where to find him. Jennifer notes that he said he was going to see Tom and Alice’s plaque, so Lucas and Ciara go to find him. Marie remarks to Jennifer that this is shaping up to be quite the family reunion.

Julie questions Doug Williams getting out of jail and coming to Salem to see her. Julie remarks that next he’s going to tell her that his cellmate was Bill Horton. He responds that his last name wasn’t Horton, but his name was Bill. Julie questions him being Doug Williams but he says not exactly. Julie asks if he just got up today and decided he was. Doug explains that he was born Douglas LeClair after his father, but he changed his name. Julie realizes he is Douglas LeClair’s son. Doug explains that his father told him the story of his life and how his real father was Doug, which makes him Doug’s grandson. Julie is shocked and hugs him.

Jennifer thinks Lucas may be jumping to conclusions. Marie argues that Steven has a history with stolen diamonds, so she’s afraid history is beginning to repeat itself.

Steven suggests to Leo that they get another round of drinks. Leo starts to tell Steven about his recent heartbreak which came after he accused Javi of doing something he most likely didn’t do. Steven remarks that he hates when that happens, as Lucas then arrives with Ciara and asks Steven where the hell are the diamonds.

Belle reminds Shawn that last year they started having problems over Shawn’s guilt over his dad and blaming himself for Bo being in a coma. Shawn informs Belle that Bo squeezed Hope’s hand which excites Belle. She asks if the doctors think this means he’s waking up. Shawn says they aren’t sure but Hope is very hopeful and that’s why she didn’t come to Doug’s funeral which Belle calls understandable. Belle prays it means that Bo is finally waking up. Belle asks if Bo waking up would mean Shawn would finally be able to let go of all the guilt. Shawn says if they get the miracle, there’s no telling what kind of condition Bo will be in or if he will fully recover. Belle guesses he’ll find a way to still hold on to all of that guilt. Shawn says he’s working on that in therapy and coming to grips with the fact that he made a terrible mistake but he can’t keep beating himself up over it. Shawn adds that therapy also taught him that he’s changed which Belle questions. Shawn declares that if he can’t get past this guilt, he doesn’t think he will ever be able to be the man that he was, that Belle fell in love with. Shawn thinks that maybe it’s time they end their marriage.

Steven asks what Lucas is talking about. Lucas says he’s talking about Alice’s necklace from the time capsule that is now missing. Steven questions thinking he took it. Ciara says they don’t know what to think. Steven questions them jumping to the conclusion that he stuffed it in his pocket and ran off with it. Lucas explains that they know his history because Marie told them all about his track record with diamonds. Lucas points out that now Steven is here with Leo and questions if Leo is helping him. Steven repeats that he has no idea what he’s talking about. Lucas tells Steven to drop the innocent act, bringing up that Leo stole his cousin Abigail’s jewelry and tried to sell it to the guy who murdered her. Steven argues that he doesn’t even know Leo and that he just invited him for a drink. Lucas shouts that’s enough and that they know he has the necklace. Lucas tells him to just be a man and admit it.

Jennifer tells Marie that she knows Steven got in to a lot of trouble in Salem but that was a long time ago and Julie said he was a changed man. Marie says Julie wants to believe the best in her brother, but in her experience, a leopard doesn’t change it’s spots. Jennifer worries that Julie will be heartbroken if it’s true.

Doug III tells Julie that he wanted to pay his respects to his grandfather as he just recently found out about him but he’s sorry he didn’t get the chance to meet him. He adds that he is glad to meet Julie. Julie questions him just getting out of jail. He admits he got in to some trouble on the way to Salem, but he made it. Julie asks if he’s tired after all the travel. He says he is pretty beat up and could use some rest, so he asks if she knows any cheap hotels around. Julie calls him her family, so he’s coming home with her.

Marie wonders if Lucas and Ciara found Steven while Jennifer points out that they aren’t answering their phones. Julie then returns and introduces Jennifer and Marie to Doug Williams, the grandson of her Doug. Marie asks how. Julie explains that he is the son of Douglas LeClair. Jennifer tells him it’s so nice he’s here after all this time. Julie says he came to pay respects to his Grandfather and now he’s going to stay with them for awhile. Julie calls it the second miracle of the day after Ciara opened the time capsule. Doug asks about the time capsule. Julie starts to explain and asks where it is so she can show him all the family treasures. Jennifer claims they put it away for now for safe keeping.

Steven tells Lucas and Ciara that he’s not admitting to stealing anything because he didn’t take any necklace, but argues that it belonged to his Grandmother so he has as much of a right to it as any of them. Lucas argues that they know he took it. Steven says he’s leaving. Lucas wants to search him but Steven calls him an idiot if he thinks he can get away with assaulting him in public. Steven tells Leo that he’s sorry he got his heart broke, but if he’s interested in getting back out there, his son Spencer is gay so he should look him up. Steven then walks away.

Belle tells Shawn that even though she’s had the same thought, it’s different hearing him say it out loud. Shawn apologizes and calls her the best person he knows, but says he doesn’t deserve her. Belle disagrees but Shawn says that’s how he feels. Shawn states that so much has happened and after Bo went in to his coma, there was Talia and everything that happened before this with Jan and EJ. Shawn adds that for the better part of the past year, they have been apart and they haven’t had the trust they had in so long. Belle asks if he doesn’t think they can get back to that. Shawn asks if she does. Belle cries that she knows she still loves him. Shawn responds that he still loves her too and they will always be connected through their daughter Claire. Shawn reiterates that he thinks it’s time that maybe they just let go. Belle guesses there’s no reason to make this any harder and says she can draw up some simple divorce papers to send over to him. Shawn decides he should get going. Belle asks him to let her know about Bo which he agrees to do. Belle tells Shawn to take care of himself and hugs him. Shawn then exits.

Julie tells Doug III that she will make up the guest room for him. Marie mentions that she has a plane to catch so she can’t stay. Marie and Julie hug, talking about how great it was to see each other. Julie says they will text and video chat to keep in touch. Julie then heads upstairs. Doug asks about the time capsule being hidden in the house, noting that’s not something you hear every day. Jennifer and Marie explain that they would show it to him, but a very valuable necklace in it has gone missing and they can’t tell Julie because she would be very upset since it belonged to her Grandmother. Marie hopes they can get it back before Julie misses it.

Ciara asks Leo if Steven said anything to him about the necklace. Leo tells her to give it a rest, assuring that he knows nothing about a necklace. Leo asks if it ever occurred to them that he could be innocent instead of treating him like a common criminal. Ciara asks why it matters to Leo when they just met. Leo says they had an instant connection and calls him a very charming guy. Leo adds that he knows what it’s like to be accused of a crime you didn’t commit, bringing up when everybody was so sure that he stabbed Sonny and murdered Abigail. Leo points out that he was innocent, so maybe Steven is too. Leo remarks that Ciara and Lucas have no business judging anyone anyways when Lucas kidnapped his own wife while Ciara is married to a convicted serial killer, so they shouldn’t throw stones. Leo then gets up and walks away.

Steven climbs through the window to return to the bedroom at the Horton house. Julie comes in and questions him not coming through the door. Steven responds that he didn’t want to make a big scene, but it’s time for him to leave again. Julie says he can’t leave and says she has the most amazing story to tell. Steven asks her to save it for next time as he has to go now despite loving spending time with her. Julie complains that he’s abandoning her again. Steven promises that he will be back. Steven repeats how sorry he is about Doug. Julie cries that Doug always wanted to know how Steven’s doing. Steven says now she knows. Julie goes over Steven becoming a changed man. Steven calls it a work in progress. Steven tells Julie that he loves her and to take care of herself. Julie says she loves him too. Steven then asks Julie not to believe everything she hears about him. Julie asks what he means. Steven responds that he’ll be in touch and exits back through the window.

Marie guesses she should call a cab so she doesn’t miss her flight but Jennifer decides she will give her a ride. Marie says goodbye to Doug III while Jennifer says she’ll see him later. Marie and Jennifer then exit together. Doug approaches the mantle and looks at the family photos as he then pulls out Alice’s diamond necklace from his pocket.

Steven tells Julie that her faith in him means the world to him. Julie points out that Doug was transformed, so he can be too. Julie talks about Doug getting out of prison, coming to Salem, meeting their family and being determined to change his life which he did. Julie states that Doug had an exceptionally kind heart and Steven has those qualities too. Steven says she does too. Julie tells him that she loves him and is so glad he’s here as for a minute, she forgot about the memorial. Julie asks Steven if he will be able to attend. Steven assures that he wouldn’t miss it. Julie thanks him and says she’ll do better because he’s there. Steven knows how difficult this time is for her, so he wants her to know that he’s always there for her. Julie tells him the same and that all he has to do is ask. Julie thanks him again for being there, saying it means a lot.

In the town square, Marie remarks that she would count herself lucky if she never laid eyes on Liz Chandler again. Liz then approaches and guesses today is not her lucky day. Liz tells Maggie it’s good to see her but gathers Marie is not that delighted to see her which she confirms. Liz remarks that she thought the world of Marie’s parents, but couldn’t stand her.

Julie tells Steven that she’s glad he climbed through the window on his way to the memorial service. Julie talks about being so excited to take him downstairs and introduce him to his family.

Ciara opens Alice’s time capsule which shocks Jennifer, Lucas, and Shawn as they prepare to see what’s inside.

Liz mocks Marie holding a grudge over Neil after all these years. Marie mocks that Liz isn’t going to shoot her again in another jealous rage. Liz argues that was decades ago and that she knows damn well that it was an accident. Marie complains that Liz slept with her husband in their bed and when she came home, she shot her. Liz brings up that she went to prison over it until Maggie shouts that’s enough.

Belle sits with Marlena at home and gets emotional after listening to Liz Chandler’s song “Friends and Lovers”. Marlena is sure it reminds her of when she and Shawn first got together. Belle confirms that knowing she’s going to see Shawn today is bringing up a lot of emotions. Belle wonders if she should’ve told him she was coming. Marlena think he will be glad to see her. Belle hopes so but says she will keep her distance to let him have his time with his family.

Jennifer, Lucas, Shawn, and Ciara go through the time capsule which includes letters that Tom and Alice wrote each other, the deed to the Horton Cabin on Smith Island, and various souvenirs. Julie comes in and is happy to see Shawn, Ciara, and Lucas. Julie hugs them and says she missed all of them. Ciara says she was proud to be Doug’s granddaughter. Julie thanks them for coming. Steven then walks in, so Julie introduces him to the room.

Lani finishes a call with Chanel, checking in on her and Johnny watching the kids. Lani tells Eli that the twins have been on their best behavior for Chanel and Johnny. Eli says he’s so grateful for them to watch the twins so he could have the time to be there for his Grandma. Lani talks about how close Eli and Julie are even though he found her as an adult. Eli comments on being so lucky and talks about Julie being surrounded by her loved ones.

Steven meets Ciara and comments on how much she looks like Hope. Ciara takes that as a compliment and tells Julie how much Hope wanted to be there. Julie tells her that they spoke on the phone last night and agreed that Hope is where she needs to be with Bo. Julie introduces Steven to Shawn. Steven says he’s heard so much about him and then comments on Jennifer being so grown up as they hug. Jennifer then introduces Lucas to Steven. Jennifer reveals the time capsule which Julie is shocked to see has been opened. Julie joins them in looking through the contents. Julie calls it the Days of their Lives in a box. Julie then finds her grandma Alice’s diamond necklace inside and says she always wondered what happened to it. Julie says she’d love to go through everything with them but it’s time to go to St. Luke’s to honor her husband with a memorial and to say goodbye, so they all exit the house together. Steven stops and looks back at the time capsule before then exiting.

Maggie asks Liz and Marie to let bygones be bygones and focus on the fact that they are all together to celebrate Doug which they agree to do. Maggie calls it mature of them to let go of grievances from the 80s and proposes a truce. Liz and Marie agree to do it for Doug and shake hands. Marlena and Belle then approach. Marlena greets them and introduces them to Belle. Belle tells Liz that she’s a huge fan of her music. Marlena guesses they will see them at the service. Marlena stops to tell Liz that it’s good to see her and Marie are getting along so well. Marie says she wouldn’t go that far as Marlena walks away with Belle.

Marlena and Belle arrive outside St. Luke’s for the memorial. Belle greets Shawn and tells him that she just got in from Hong Kong. Julie arrives with Steven and introduces him. Julie thanks them all for coming. Marlena tells Julie that the priest is ready to start whenever she is. Julie takes her seat next to Maggie and Marlena as the priest begins the memorial service. The priest begins by calling Shawn up to read scripture from the book of John. After Shawn finishes, the priest calls up Ciara to read one of Doug’s favorite poems, “Gone From My Sight” by Henry Van Dyke. The priest then calls on Julie for the eulogy. Julie reads about Doug’s life, things he accomplished, and their life together. Julie talks about how everyone spoke about Doug’s kindness and says Doug saw something wonderful in all of them as she finishes and takes her seat. The priest announces they will close the service with Liz Chandler leading them in one of Doug’s favorite songs. Liz goes to the podium and says she would not have the career she’s had if not for Doug, so this one’s for him. Liz sings “Always” by Irving Berlin and everyone joins in singing along. Liz thanks them all and says that was beautiful as Julie looks at the portrait of Doug with a smile. Julie hugs Marie and tells her it was so wonderful that she came. Julie tells Liz that her singing was beautiful and perfect. Liz and Marie agree that Doug was the best. Abe and Paulina come over to Julie and tell her it was a wonderful service for a wonderful man. Julie thanks them. Steve and Kayla come over and assure they are there for anything she needs. Julie declares that she lost the love of her life today, but she feels love all around her from all of them. Jennifer reminds Julie that they have to go to the cemetery and offers to walk with her. Julie says she’ll be right there as everyone heads to the cemetery. Julie stays behind at the portrait of Doug and holds back tears before heading to the cemetery.

Marlena and Belle return home, talking about what a service it was. Marlena says she always knew how much Julie and Doug loved each other and how much Doug loved his family, but she did not know about Doug’s history in the navy. Marlena calls Doug a legend and asks if Belle was able to reach Shawn. Belle says she wanted to give him space to be with his family. Marlena reminds Belle that she’s his family too. Belle says he was grieving his grandfather and she doesn’t think he wanted to talk to her. Marlena doesn’t believe that, assuring that Shawn still loves her. Marlena decides she’s going to try to reach Shane to see if he can contact John to let him know that they’ve lost Doug. Belle sends her love if she does reach John. Marlena then heads to her room. Belle sits down on the couch until there’s a knock at the door and Shawn arrives.

Abe and Paulina sit together at home. Paulina says she could just picture Doug’s reaction to his memorial service and how proud he would be. Eli and Lani come in after putting the twins to sleep. Eli mentions singing the kids a song that Doug used to sing. Paulina proposes a toast.

Steve, Kayla, Jack, and Roman gather at the Brady Pub where they toast to Doug.

Jennifer, Lucas, Ciara, and Marie return to the Horton house. Jennifer comments on Liz singing so beautifully. Marie asks about the time capsule. Ciara tells Marie about Alice’s diamond necklace that had been locked away for over 60 years. Ciara goes to the time capsule and says she could’ve sworn that Julie put the necklace back in the box. Jennifer confirms that she did but Ciara reveals it’s not in there and questions where it could’ve gone.

Steven sits at the Tom and Alice plaque in the town square. Steven comments on who knew the treasure that Alice was holding in the house. Steven admits the old him might have been tempted by that diamond necklace, but he’s a changed man.

Julie sits at the cemetery, crying over Doug and says all she ever wanted was to be his wife, so she questions what to do now. Julie is then approached by a young man, who introduces himself as Doug Williams.

Marlena sits at home with her tablet reading Jack’s article in the Spectator about Doug’s death until there’s a knock at her door. Marlena answers and is surprised by her old friend Liz Chandler as they embrace.

At the Horton house, Jennifer takes a framed photo of Doug from the mantle and holds it as she cries.

Marie Horton returns to Salem and stops in the town square at the plaque of Tom and Alice. Maggie walks by and greets her as they embrace.

Jennifer looks at an old Horton family photo as Lucas arrives and greets her. Jennifer hugs him and says she’s so glad to see him. Lucas says he had to be there for Julie. Jennifer says Julie will be so happy as she really needs her family right now. Lucas asks how Julie is holding up. Jennifer says as well as can be expected, but she can only imagine how Julie is going to feel when she wakes up and Doug is not beside her.

Julie wakes up in bed and sees a photo of her and Doug on the night stand. She closes her eyes and flashes back to memories of Doug.

Lucas talks to Jennifer about how he loves the Horton house and remembers Doug’s loving hugs. Lucas recalls feeling like the black sheep of the Horton family but Doug would always go out his way to make him feel like he belonged. Jennifer states that family meant everything to Doug. Ciara and Shawn arrive to greet them.

Julie gets up and puts on her wedding ring, giving her a flashback to her and Doug’s wedding. Julie then looks out her window and is surprised to see her brother, Steven.

Marlena comments to Liz on how long it’s been. Liz says she left Salem in 1986 so they have a lot to catch up on. Marlena tells Liz that she’s so pleased that she came back for Doug’s service as it will mean the world to Julie. Liz asks how Julie is doing. Marlena says she’s putting on a brave face. Marlena asks if Liz is still living in LA. Liz confirms she is and invites Marlena and John to come stay with them some time. Marlena says she would love to and asks about Liz’s daughter Noelle. Liz says she’s got a boyfriend and a good job. Liz adds that she also now has two sons. Liz says they will find a way to get their two families together. Marlena agrees they will have to do that. Liz apologizes for losing touch with her. Marlena says they had gotten very close. Liz jokes that being kidnapped by Stefano DiMera is quite the bonding experience. Liz tells Marlena that she missed her and all the people in Salem, except Marie Horton.

Marie tells Maggie that she was so sorry to hear about Victor’s passing. Maggie thanks her for the flowers she sent. Marie says that was the least she could do. They talk about Salem losing extraordinary men in Victor and Doug. Maggie says that Doug lifted everyone’s spirits just being around him so her heart goes out to Julie as she knows what she is going through. Marie points out that Maggie has had to mourn two husbands. Maggie says she was lucky to have love twice with one of them being Marie’s brother, Mickey. Marie says after all this time, she still can’t believe Mickey is gone along with Tommy, Addie, and Bill. Marie mentions Tom and Alice and says there’s not a day that goes by that she doesn’t think about all of them. Maggie comments on the legacy that Tom and Alice left.

Jennifer tells Ciara and Shawn that it’s wonderful to see them and asks when Hope is coming. Shawn reveals that Hope is not coming as she went to see Bo in the hospital and he squeezed her hand. Lucas asks if Bo is waking up. Ciara says the doctors think it could have been involuntary but Hope believes his condition is improving. Jennifer says she completely understands why Hope wouldn’t leave Bo now and knows Julie will understand now.

Julie helps Steven in and questions why he is climbing through their bedroom window. Steven reminds her of how he did so when they were kids as they hug.

Ciara shows Jennifer and Lucas photos of her babies. Shawn notices the time capsule that Julie found in the fireplace left by Alice and questions it still not being open. Jennifer explains that no one has been able to get it open and Jack brought it to Boston to see if she could but she had no luck so she brought it back to Salem to see if someone else could take a crack at it. Ciara offers to give it a try.

Steven and Julie talk about how they’ve missed each other. Julie can’t remember the last time she saw him. Steven admits he’s not a great communicator but promises to do better. Julie says what counts is that he’s here now. Steven says when he heard about Doug, he knew he had to be there with her and he’s so sorry. Julie brings up that Doug talked about Steven more than she did. Steven recalls Doug as an insightful man with a heart of gold as he flashes back to their past. Julie hopes Steven didn’t come back home because he’s on the run from the law. Steven assures that’s all in the past. Julie says it better be because her grandson is in town and he works for the FBI.

Eli and Lani get prepared for Doug’s memorial at Paulina’s. Lani comments on how good Jack’s article on Doug is and talks about learning so much she didn’t know about Doug. Lani mentions how she can’t imagine Doug in jail, but figures people would say that about her too. Eli informs Lani that Doug went to prison for security fraud and his cellmate was Julie’s uncle, Bill Horton.

Abe, Roman, Paulina, Steve, and Kayla gather outside for Doug’s memorial service. They talk about it never getting easier. Jack joins them and says he’s grateful to Johnny and Chanel for watching the kids so they could gather for Doug. Paulina says they were glad to do it and comments on how Doug touched so many lives. Roman says he did with a word, a smile, or a song. Kayla wonders who will come back for Doug’s memorial. Steve says that Doug was loved by so many that he wouldn’t be surprised if a few blasts from the pasts came back to pay their respects.

Marie tells Maggie that she has such fond memories of growing up in Salem and only a few regrets that have to do with her unfortunate taste in men. Maggie asks which men she’s referring to. Marie brings up Alex Marshall and Neil Curtis, though admits she’s grateful to Alex for giving her daughter Jessica. Marie apologizes and says she shouldn’t be saying this since Maggie was involved with Neil and he is Sarah’s father, but all she got from Neil was a bitter rivalry with Liz Chandler, who despised her for marrying Neil.

Liz tells Marlena how she despised Marie for marrying Neil. Marlena points out that was a very long time ago. Liz agrees that today is about Doug, who was charming and kind. Liz brings up Doug getting her first break as a singer at his club and flashes back to that moment. Liz says she owes so much to Doug.

Lani asks Eli how she never knew about Julie marrying an ex-con, who was also married to her mom. Eli says he never shared since he didn’t know if she wanted that personal information out there, but she must have been cool with it since Jack put it in Doug’s obituary. Eli points out that Julie and Doug lived happily ever after. Lani jokes that she thought her family history was crazy. Eli talks about Julie having history with shady dudes and brings up her brother Steven being on the run from mobsters, fleeing Salem and never looking back.

Steven questions Julie saying her grandson is in the FBI. Julie says she’s very proud of him and tells him about Eli’s life. Steven says he can’t wait to meet them. Julie asks if he’s sure since she remembers him raising quite a bit of hell in the past, reminding Steven that he dealt drugs and stole jewels. Julie asks if he remembers when she asked him to be her partner in her antique business and flashes back to that time. Julie talks about how it all fell apart when Steven sold fakes to her customers and that betrayal broke her heart. Steven admits he has no excuse for how he hurt her and let her down but insists he’s not the same man anymore as he’s been transformed.

Kayla brings up Thanksgiving a few years ago when Doug was so brave, looked evil straight in the eye and didn’t back down as she flashes back to when Marlena became possessed by the Devil again. Kayla and Steve talk about Marlena feeling terrible but not being to blame for any of it. Abe points out that Marlena and Doug fought their way through it together. Kayla says they had so much goodness in their hearts.

After Liz leaves, Marlena sits back down and comments that no one ever had a truer friend than Doug as she flashes back to a memory with Doug. Marlena’s daughter Belle then arrives and tells Marlena that her flight from Hong Kong landed early. They hug as Marlena says she’s so glad she made it, especially since John got held up and will be so upset to miss Doug’s memorial. Marlena tells Belle about Liz Chandler coming by. Belle talks about loving her music. Marlena sits with Belle and asks how Shawn is doing. Belle admits she doesn’t really know as she’s been trying to give him space which is why she’s been spending so much time in Hong Kong, doing consulting work for DiMera, but she wanted to be there for Shawn as he mourns his Grandpa. Belle then reveals that Shawn doesn’t know she’s here which surprises Marlena as she questions her not speaking to him. Belle says they only spoke briefly on the phone but they haven’t seen each other much lately, so she doesn’t really know where things stand.

Lucas talks about trying to open the time capsule since February. Jennifer talks about Hope was always good at puzzles. Shawn asks about not just smashing it open but Lucas explains that he didn’t want to disrespect Alice that way. Jennifer explains that they trusted that Alice wanted them to find a way to open it without destroying what’s inside. Lucas jokes that they’ll have to wait another 60 years, but then Ciara manages to get it open easily, shocking Jennifer, Lucas, and Shawn.

Maggie tells Marie that she knows Neil was a real sore spot between her and Liz. Marie says whenever she thinks about all that went down, it stirs up all that anger with Liz all over again even after all these years when she should be letting go of old resentments. Maggie suggests they at least try. Marie remarks that she would count herself lucky if she never laid eyes on Liz Chandler again. Liz then approaches and guesses today is not her lucky day.

Julie questions Steven saying he’s been transformed. Steven explains how he met a guru in India six months ago who changed his life and helped him see that he had been living a hedonistic and somewhat amoral life. Steven assures that Julie doesn’t have to worry about the old him anymore as this is the new and improved version. Julie says she’s glad to hear that and she’s always believed a person can change for the better at any stage of their life. Julie brings up how Doug being so adored and respected is not the man that he started out to be.

Kayla goes to Marlena’s office at the hospital and wishes her a happy Thanksgiving. Marlena asks how her celebration at the Pub was. Kayla says it was pretty great and explains that Bonnie burnt the Kiriakis turkey so she invited their whole family and it turned in to one big party. Kayla jokes that one perk of getting called in to work was not having to do the dishes, but she had to leave before dessert came out. Kayla notes that she’s surprised to see Marlena at work as she thought she and John had Thanksgiving plans. Marlena responds that he ditched her.

Maggie sits in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion, looking up at the portrait of Victor. Sarah comes in and comments that it was a pretty nice Thanksgiving at the Pub. Maggie jokes that Kayla saved the day after Bonnie lost the battle with the turkey. Sarah calls it relatively lovely despite some of the awkward moments. Maggie agrees. Sarah says she saw Maggie looking at Victor’s portrait and knows she misses him so much, especially around the holidays. Maggie talks about feeling the loved ones they’ve lost more than ever.

Lani sits with Paulina at home and tells her that Abe is reading a bedtime story to the twins. Paulina tells Lani that they are overdue for some mother-daughter time. Paulina wants to hear all the gossip about her life in DC. Lani says there isn’t much to tell and that they’ve really adjusted their lives there. Lani calls it a great city with so much to see and do. Paulina notes that they’ve made it clear they have no interest in moving back. Lani insists that it’s only for now and they eventually want to move back as they miss being close to their loved ones. Paulina says they miss her even more and that Julie misses them just as much as they do. Lani says they do a lot of video chats but Paulina says nothing is as good as in person. Lani mentions that she’s really glad that Eli made it a priority to go visit Julie.

In the dining room, Eli questions Jennifer about JJ and Chad both having something come up. Jennifer calls it rather urgent. Eli says that’s too bad as he knows Julie was definitely looking forward to having a full house. Jennifer asks Eli to stay for a few bites before going back to Abe and Paulina’s. Eli jokes that Julie won’t give him a choice. Jennifer tells Eli that Julie loves him so much and misses them. Eli responds that Julie and Doug are his favorite people, his family, and he’s definitely looking forward to spending some quality time with them.

Jack returns to Julie in the living room. Julie asks if he woke Doug up. Jack responds that he tried but he’s so sorry. Julie drops her candle in shock as Jack holds her. Julie cries that he can’t be gone. Jack repeats that he’s very sorry. Julie argues that he’s just a heavy sleeper. Jack says he tried to wake him and checked his pulse to be certain. Jack declares that Doug must have passed away in his sleep. Jack asks what he can do. Julie asks Jack to just tell everyone. Jack says he’ll be right back and heads to the dining room. Julie sits down and begins to cry.

Eli talks to Jennifer about his kids, Jules and Carver. Jack enters the room. Jennifer tells him that the kids are finishing a board game and then will be down for dinner, so she hopes he had better luck with Doug. Jennifer then asks Jack what’s wrong.

Marlena informs Kayla that John got called away at the last minute by the ISA. Kayla notes that Steve didn’t say anything. Marlena says it seemed to be top secret. Kayla argues that John and Steve are in business together, so they tell each other when one is leaving town. Marlena says John didn’t explain that part to her, so she’s not sure where he is or how long he will be gone.

Maggie tells Sarah that today is about giving thanks and Victor would want her to focus on her blessings. Maggie brings up Sarah walking again and Victoria warming her heart. Sarah mentions Victoria being fast asleep next to Xander. Maggie tells Sarah that Julie invited them over for dinner tonight if she’s interested. Sarah jokes that she’s still full from the Pub. Maggie suggests they could drop by for dessert and says it would be nice to see everyone. Sarah says she does have a lot of great memories from her dad’s side of the family. Sarah adds that if they’re lucky, they could get Doug to sing a song or two…

Eli goes to the Horton house and hugs Julie, asking what he can do. Julie tells him to just be with her.

Jack hugs Jennifer, who says she feels so sad for Julie and her family. Jack says that Doug was so full of joy, love, kindness, and life. Jack thinks the world will be a lot dimmer without him in it. Jennifer talks about Doug always reading the kids a book or playing board games with them. Jennifer decides the kids can’t be there and tells Jack to take them to the Kiriakis Mansion. Jack agrees to do that so he can tell Maggie what’s happened and he will tell Kayla to make sure someone comes to take care of Doug. Jennifer says she will make calls to her family as Jack then exits. Jennifer pulls out her phone and calls Hope, who says she was just about to call her. Hope wishes Jennifer a happy Thanksgiving. Jennifer informs Hope that there’s something she has to tell her. Hope asks what it is. Jennifer then informs Hope that Jack had gone to try to wake Doug up for dinner but he didn’t wake up and died in his sleep.

Jack calls Kayla, who says she will send someone over right away and sends her love. Kayla hangs up as Marlena asks if everything is alright and what Jack said. Kayla informs Marlena that Doug has passed away.

Lani talks to Paulina about Eli being a family man and says he may not have grown up with the Hortons but they mean the world to him and they made such an effort to welcome him in to the family. Lani adds that Julie and Doug went above and beyond.

Jack returns to the living room and informs Eli and Julie that Jennifer is calling Hope and Kayla is sending an ambulance for Doug. Julie decides she wants to see Doug. Jack says she can take all the time she needs. Eli offers to go with Julie and they head upstairs together.

Hope asks Jennifer if Julie is with her. Jennifer says Eli is with her in another room. Hope starts to cry and decides she should be there. Jennifer knows she’ll be there soon and says they will take care of Julie in the meantime.

Eli brings Julie to Doug in their bedroom. Eli says he will give her some privacy and steps out of the room.

Maggie tells Sarah that maybe Doug will give them a Thanksgiving performance tonight. Sarah says she’ll go let Xander know what the plan is. Jack then arrives and greets them. Jack says he’s sorry for barging in like this and that he brought Thomas and Charlotte with him. Jack says they are with Xander in the foyer now. Maggie asks Jack if everything is alright. Jack says he’s afraid not.

Kayla tells Marlena that she has an ambulance on standby and will go over there in a bit but she wants to give the family some time. Marlena responds that her heart is breaking for Julie as she and Doug loved each other for over 50 years so this has to turn her life upside down. Kayla says it breaks her heart to think about Hope getting that call about her dad. Kayla says Hope was there comforting her when her dad died, so she wishes she could be there for Hope now.

Hope tells Jennifer that she should’ve been home but Jennifer assures that Doug understood she needed to be close to Bo. Hope cries that she didn’t get to say goodbye. Jennifer encourages that Doug knew how much she loved him. Hope can’t imagine what Julie must be going through. Jennifer says that Julie is a strong woman with her family around her. Jennifer asks if Hope will be okay since she’s all by herself. Hope says that Shawn will be home soon. Jennifer tells Hope that she loves her. Hope asks Jennifer to give Julie a really big hug from her and to tell her how much she loves her. Hope says she’ll be home soon as they hang up. Hope then breaks down crying as she flashes back to the speech Doug gave her when she turned 18. Shawn comes home and asks if something is wrong. Hope tells him that it’s Doug.

Eli returns to the living room and looks at Doug’s photo on the mantle. Eli then gets a call from Lani, who tells him that dinner is ready and asks if he’s heading back soon. Eli responds that he’s not as he got sad news.

Julie sits at Doug’s side and tells him that she’s there. Julie cries that they both knew this day would come, just not so soon. Julie calls Doug her whole world and talks about how much she loves him. Julie says they had a lifetime of love, but never enough. Julie cries that his love was her strength and asks how she can go on without him. She talks about not knowing how to say goodbye as she flashes back to when they first met.

Lani joins Eli at the Horton house as Eli finishes a call with Julie’s grandson Scotty. Lani hugs Eli and says she’s sorry. Eli thanks her for coming. Lani says she has to be there for him and asks where Julie is. Eli tells her that she’s upstairs with Doug. Lani asks if there’s anything they can do to help. Eli says just being there with Julie is all she needs. Eli mentions his call with his half-brother Scotty to give him the news and save Julie a call. Lani states that Doug and Julie were the perfect couple and she can’t imagine one without the other.

Jennifer finishes a call with Lucas, informing him of the news. Jennifer looks over at all the family photos on the mantle and flashes back to a memory with Doug and Julie. Jack returns and tells her that he dropped the kids off with Maggie and asks how things went with Hope. Jennifer says she’s obviously heartbroken and she wanted to reach through the phone and hug her, but Shawn is there with her.

Shawn tells Hope that he’s sorry and says Doug was such a great man that he loved very much. Hope encourages that Doug loved Shawn and was proud of him before he was even born. Hope hugs Shawn and flashes back to Doug giving Hope her baby blanket when she was pregnant with Shawn. Hope talks about how proud Doug was of Shawn from the day he was born. Hope hugs him and says that never changed. Hope sits down with a photo of Doug and flashes back to another memory with Doug. Hope cries that Doug was always there when she needed him. Shawn brings her tea and asks if there’s anything else he can get her. Hope thanks him and says she’s going to see Bo. Shawn points out that she was there all night last night but understands if that’s what she needs. Shawn offers to go with her but Hope assures that she can go on her own and will be back soon. Shawn tells Hope that he loves her as they hug and Hope then goes to change.

Maggie sits at home with an old photo album and flashes back to an old memory of dancing with Doug. Sarah comes back in and tells her that she let Xander know what’s going on. Sarah asks how Maggie is doing. Maggie responds that she was thinking of many years ago when she and Doug bonded over putting together a variety show as a fundraiser for the hospital. Maggie calls Doug so talented and a natural entertainer. Sarah calls him effortlessly charming. Maggie looks up at the portrait of Victor and states that she knows what Julie is going through now. Maggie tells Sarah that she’s heading over to the Horton house as she needs to be there for Julie. Sarah decides to go with her as they hug and then they exit together.

Kayla joins Julie at Doug’s side in their bedroom. Julie thanks her for coming. Kayla calls it such an honor to know Doug. Kayla tells Julie that they love her and are here for whatever she needs. Julie thanks her and supposes this means her time is up. Kayla says the ambulance is outside but she can get them to wait. Julie cries that she doesn’t want to leave and wonders if it would’ve made a difference if she came to try to wake him up. Kayla cries that it was just his time to go. Julie says goodbye to Doug and cries that she will love him forever. Kayla then escorts Julie out of the room.

Eli asks Lani if he should go check on Julie. Lani suggests giving it a few minutes. Jack and Jennifer enter the room. Jack and Jennifer bring up the Thanksgiving dinner. Eli says he doesn’t have much of an appetite. Kayla brings Julie in. Julie hugs Lani and says it’s so good to see her. Lani says she’s so sorry and that Doug was a great man. Julie thanks her. Jennifer hugs Julie and tells her that she loves her so much.

Eli goes to the dining room and sets the table for the Thanksgiving dinner. Jack comes in and applauds him. Eli doesn’t think anyone will have much of an appetite. Jack talks about how Doug was all about this and suggests they take over the mantle. Eli jokes not to ask him to sing. Jack pours them glasses of wine and toasts to Doug, saying he will live on forever in their hearts and minds.

Jennifer and Lani sit with Julie. Lani offers to get her more tea but Julie says she’s fine. Julie thanks Jennifer for calling Hope and says she will call her when she can. Jennifer says there’s no rush as Shawn is there with her. Kayla comes in and informs Julie that the ambulance has left. Maggie arrives with Sarah. Julie hugs Maggie and tells her that Doug loved her so much. Maggie says they were all lucky to know Doug as he was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. Julie tells Sarah that it’s wonderful that she’s walking again. Sarah hugs her and says she’s sorry for her loss. Paulina arrives and says she hopes she’s not intruding but she had to come pay her respects. Paulina tells Julie that Doug was the best in all of them. Julie talks about Doug admiring Paulina’s spirit and style. Marlena then arrives and hugs Julie, assuring she wouldn’t be anywhere else right now. Marlena reminds Julie that her and Doug’s love and devotion are an inspiration to them all and will be forever. Julie thanks her. Marlena tells Julie to call her if she needs anything at all. Kayla assures all of them will be there for her. Julie thanks her family and friends for being there to show her love and support as it means the world to her.

Shawn calls his sister Ciara and tells her that he has some bad news.

Hope sits at Bo’s side in his hospital room as he remains in a coma and tearfully tells him that her dad died tonight. Hope says she was in denial that this day would ever come and now that it’s here, she doesn’t know what to do. Hope says they all relied on Doug to keep them strong and no matter what she was going through, he always made her feel safe and loved. Hope cries that the only other person to ever make her feel that way is Bo and she really needs him now. As Hope holds Bo’s hand, he begins to show movement in his fingers which excites Hope.

Abe sits at home eating chips, then hides the bag when he hears Paulina coming from the kitchen. Paulina worries about Thanksgiving dinner with Eli and Lani’s flight being delayed. Paulina then sits down on the couch and finds Abe’s bag of chips, questioning him eating those before their huge Thanksgiving dinner. Abe admits he was hungry and needed some food. Paulina says she’ll satisfy his appetite and kisses him until Eli and Lani arrive with their twins and they all embrace.

Gabi is at home, on the phone with her daughter Arianna. Gabi talks about Arianna coming for Thanksgiving next year and says she loves and misses her. Gabi sends her love to Will and Sonny, then hangs up as JJ shows up at the door. JJ says he hopes he’s not interrupting their dinner. Gabi says they just finished and invites JJ in. JJ asks where everybody is. Gabi says that Jada went to the police station while Rafe and Javi went to watch football, so she’s left to clean the dishes. JJ didn’t know Gabi had a cousin named Javi. Gabi explains that he just moved from Texas and says JJ will love him. JJ offers to help Gabi with the dishes. Gabi says that’s kind of him but says she’s got it. Gabi asks what brought JJ by. JJ informs Gabi that he hoped she could help him with something.

Chad is in the dining room at the Horton house and calls out to Thomas and Charlotte that their grandparents will be there in 45 minutes. Julie comes in, so she and Chad wish each other a happy Thanksgiving. Chad asks if Eli and Lani are joining them. Julie says that was Eli’s plan but their plane was delayed so they will see. Julie brings up Thanksgiving celebrating gratitude and says she’s grateful for this moment alone with him because something has been bothering her. Julie then questions why Abigail’s impostor is living under their roof.

Cat is in the living room of the Horton house and talks to her brother Aaron on the phone about knowing how difficult this is for Felicity. Cat says she doesn’t know what will happen with their brother Mark but promises she will do everything she can for him and their mom. Cat wishes she could spend Thanksgiving with Aaron and Felicity but says this is safer for them. Cat remarks that no one should be paying for her sins but her as Jack and Jennifer then arrive and find her in the living room.

Abe goes to put Jules and Carver down for a nap while Paulina sits with Eli and Lani. Lani decides to go check on Abe with the twins. Paulina asks if she can get Eli anything but he says he’s good. Paulina then tells Eli that she’s been thinking about something for awhile and she’s glad to have this moment alone with him. Paulina says she and Abe have been missing them and suggests it would be great if they all lived closer together again. Eli agrees that it would be, so Paulina invites Eli back to the Salem police department.

Gabi asks what JJ wants her help with. JJ brings up that Gabi said she’d be happy to do anything to help get Abigail’s remains back from Clyde. JJ says if she really meant it, he hoped to take her up on it. Gabi asks what he would need her to do. JJ says not much, just pretend to be his sister.

Julie tells Chad what she’s feeling about Chad bringing Cat back to their home and feels she deserves to know what the hell he’s thinking. Chad calls it hard to explain. Julie says the house has always been open to anyone on the holidays, but she refuses to let Cat break bread with Abigail’s family at Thanksgiving. Chad promises that Cat will stay upstairs, out of everyone’s way. Julie questions why Cat is in the house at all and not with her own family and why Chad is doing so much for her. Chad responds that he’s doing it for Abigail.

Cat wishes Aaron a happy Thanksgiving and says they will be together soon as she hangs up. Jennifer tells Cat that her face is not what she wanted to see when she walked in. Cat apologizes and says she was supposed to be gone before they arrived but Jack reveals their flight arrived early. Cat says she will go but first wants to apologize. Jennifer then slaps Cat and says that’s the least she deserves after posing as their dead daughter. Jennifer says she didn’t fool her as she saw she was a fraud in her eyes. Jennifer talks about her family thinking she was crazy for not believing the DNA test. Jennifer shouts that her entire family has been through Hell because of Cat’s lies. Cat responds that she was desperate to save her mother’s life. Jennifer tells Cat it’s too late but for some reason, Chad wants her here and they cannot fathom why. Jennifer shouts at Cat that if she had any self respect, she would walk out the door and never come back.

Julie questions Chad dropping the charges against Cat and inviting her in to the house for Abigail’s sake as she doesn’t understand. Chad explains that he was trying to protect Julie since Doug hasn’t been doing well and he thought the less she knew, the better. Julie argues that Doug is fine and demands that Chad tell her what the hell is going on. Chad then reveals that Clyde called and wants him to turn over Cat to him, so that’s why he dropped the charges. Julie tells Chad to turn her over then and asks what he’s waiting for. Chad says it’s not that easy as he can’t just let Clyde murder Cat. Chad explains that Cat’s mother was being held hostage and doesn’t deserve to lose her life. Julie asks why Cat has to be here. Chad brings up Abigail’s grave being empty and he needs to find her so she can rest in peace. Chad says the only person who could tell him is Clyde, so he’s using Cat as bait and he has a plan. Julie questions that and tells Chad not to confront Clyde by himself. Chad then reveals that JJ is going to help him.

Gabi questions JJ wanting her to pretend to be Abigail. JJ explains that Clyde contacted Chad and he wants he and Cat to check in to a hotel as Mr. and Mrs. Chad DiMera. Gabi realizes they’d be sitting ducks so JJ informs her that Chad wants to bring them along as a decoy couple.

Eli tells Paulina that he doesn’t know. Paulina says before he accepts or rejects, they miss and need him on the force as the department has had a mass exodus since Shawn left town, Officer Goldman is in prison, Harris is God knows where, and Rafe just quit. Eli questions why Rafe quit and what that’s all about. Paulina explains that she promoted Jada to commissioner so Rafe decided to move on. Paulina says she’s been promising to beef up the ranks but good detectives are hard to come by. Paulina calls Eli and Lani the best, so she hoped they could be a package deal. Eli says he doesn’t know since Lani has been having a good time at the house with the twins since she missed so much time with them. Paulina points out that the twins will be in preschool next year and Lani said she wanted to be back at work by then. Paulina thinks this is a win-win situation and asks if Eli agrees. Lani and Abe then come back in to the room after putting the kids to sleep. Abe asks if they were interrupting something. Paulina says she was just proposing that Eli and Lani come back to the Salem PD. Abe thinks that’s a great idea. Lani reminds Paulina that she cannot work for the police with a felony conviction. Paulina offers to pull some strings but Lani says that wouldn’t be a good look for either of them. Abe asks what if Eli came back to the police department while Lani found another job with good pay, hours, and perks. Lani isn’t sure a job like that exists but Abe suggests she could play a cop on TV.

Gabi asks how she could play Abigail when they look nothing alike. JJ brings up when Abigail was dealing with D.I.D. as Gabby. Gabi asks what she would have to do. JJ says the plan is for them to check in to the hotel so Chad and Cat could get the drop on Clyde and the idea is to get ahead of Clyde. JJ reminds Gabi that he was a cop so he will do his damndest to protect her. JJ gets that he’s asking a lot, so if she’s not comfortable doing this, he understands and it’s her call.

Julie questions Chad having JJ help him confront Clyde and putting JJ in danger too. Chad says he wanted to talk him out of it but JJ wants to find Abigail as much as he does. The oven timer goes off so Julie says she has to check it but Chad says he’s got it and hugs her. As Chad heads to the kitchen, Julie looks at an old photo of Hope and Doug. Julie then gets a call from Hope and wishes her a happy Thanksgiving.

Cat tells Jennifer that she wants nothing more than to walk out the door but her family is everything and she’s the only one who can help her mother if she’s still alive. Chad comes in and says he didn’t know Jack and Jennifer were here. Chad wishes them a happy Thanksgiving but Jennifer says it’s not. Chad says they weren’t supposed to see each other. Jennifer questions why Cat is even here. Chad explains that she could be a help in finding Abigail’s body. Jennifer argues that Cat could be in jail if she was truly sorry for what she did. Jennifer wants to see her grandchildren so she heads upstairs and Jack follows after her. Cat tries to apologize to Chad but he stops her. Chad then gets a call from Clyde.

Lani questions Abe saying she could play a detective on TV when she’s not an actress. Paulina points out that she’s never tried acting and most of the cast of Body and Soul are also inexperienced. Paulina suggests Lani could play Chanel’s character’s older sister which Abe says would be perfect. Lani is grateful for the offer and flattered that they think she could do it, but reveals that she just accepted a part-time job that starts after the holidays. Paulina says she has enough time to give notice but Lani says she’s very excited as she will be working at the preschool and won’t have to be separated from her kids. Eli says they’ve always had a plan to move back to Salem one day because they miss them but right now, the kids love their school and friends. Lani adds that Eli loves his job, so she hopes they will understand. Paulina questions them telling no. Lani says it’s just not yet and says they love being with them and promises they will be back soon. Lani then hugs Paulina.

Gabi asks JJ if he has a plan B if she says no. JJ says he’ll figure it out and repeats that he knows it’s a lot to ask if she doesn’t want to do it. Gabi says she’s just thinking since she has a personal stake in this too. Gabi brings up Clyde terrorizing her in prison and breaking her leg as a warning to Stefan which JJ did not know. Gabi adds that Clyde forced Stefan and Ava in to their unholy partnership that led to Stefan cheating on her, so Clyde kind of ruined her life and if it wasn’t for him, she’d still be happily married. JJ says he’s really sorry. Gabi says she is too, but that makes it easier to decide that she’s not going to let Clyde get away with this. Gabi then tells JJ that she’s in.

Julie asks Hope about Shawn and Bo. Julie encourages that all Hope can do is what she is doing as her presence is what’s important and she’s sure that Bo feels she is there. Julie tells Hope that Doug is doing much better and says he’s resting before dinner. Julie cries that they miss Hope so much and they can’t wait to see her again.

Chad asks Clyde if he’s ready to tell him what his plan is. Chad writes down what Clyde tells him and assures that he still has Cat. Chad says that Cat thinks he’s going to help track down her mother and has no idea that he’s turning her over to him. Chad tells Clyde that he won’t turn her over until he gets the information about Abigail. Cat asks what Clyde said, right as Jack and Jennifer return to the room. Jack questions what about Clyde. Chad then reveals that Clyde gave him a time and place to meet, so they have to leave now. Cat points out it’s Thanksgiving and asks how they are going to get flights. Chad informs her that he was waiting for Clyde to call, so he had the DiMera jet on standby. Jack questions Chad and Cat going to confront Clyde on their own with no backup. JJ then arrives and greets Jack and Jennifer, wishing them a happy Thanksgiving. JJ asks if everything is okay. Chad informs JJ that Clyde called and wants them to fly out to meet today which Jack questions. JJ reveals that he and Gabi are going with them. Jack asks what the hell they are doing. JJ responds that he and Gabi are going along as decoys, but Jennifer says they are not. Jennifer says she already lost one child to Clyde, so she’s not going to let JJ voluntarily get caught in Clyde’s crosshairs. Jennifer argues that Clyde wants Cat so they can send her and tells Chad and JJ that they are not going.

Lani apologizes to Abe and Paulina for disappointing them. Paulina says it’s alright and that they understand but they had to try. Eli assures they’ll be back soon. Lani presents Paulina and Abe with turkey cookies. Paulina talks about all of their desserts and mentions that Chanel will be by later for some real food. Eli mentions that he told Julie he’d stop by before dinner so it might be a good time to go. Abe tells Eli to take his time. Paulina says to tell Doug and Julie that they wish them a very happy Thanksgiving.

JJ understands why Jennifer is upset but says this is his decision and he’s going. Jennifer says as much as she wants to find out what happened to Abigail’s body, she is gone and JJ is alive so she doesn’t think it’s worth the risk. JJ says it’s not just recovering Abigail’s remains but about bringing Clyde to justice. JJ says as long as Clyde is out there, they’ll never feel safe. Chad tells them that if they are going to do this, they have to leave now. Julie then comes in and asks what’s wrong, questioning what Cat has done now. Chad informs Julie that Clyde called and setup a meeting, so they have to leave now. Chad asks Julie to watch the kids and says he’ll tell her all about it when he gets back safely. Chad goes to say goodbye to the kids. JJ asks Julie to tell Doug they are sorry for missing Thanksgiving dinner. Julie assures that they will have a big celebration when they get back. Jack urges JJ to be careful. JJ asks them to try not to worry as he then exits. Jennifer warns Cat that she better pray that Chad and JJ both come back safely to them or Clyde won’t be the only one she holds responsible as Cat exits. Julie guesses she should’ve got a smaller turkey. Jack apologizes as this is not the Thanksgiving they imagined but maybe now JJ and Chad can put an end to this nightmare. Julie says they have to put on a brave face for the children. Julie tells them that dinner is ready so Jennifer goes to get the kids while Julie asks Jack to go get Doug.

Paulina tells Lani that she’s so glad she’s here. Lani says she’s thankful to be there with them. Paulina recalls last Thanksgiving when Lani was in prison, Abe had no memory, and she was sick but now Lani is free, she’s cured, and Abe has his memory back while launching his own soap opera. Abe says what a difference a year makes. Paulina agrees and says she can’t wait to see what the next one brings.

Eli goes to the Horton house and wishes Julie a happy Thanksgiving. Julie hugs him and says it’s so good to see him and how much they miss him and Lani. Eli says Lani and the kids are still at Paulina’s but they’ll be by later. Julie sends Eli to the dining room with his cookies and says she’ll be right in as she wants to get her grandmother’s candle sticks.

Jack goes to wake Doug up in his room but finds he is unresponsive and checks his pulse.

Jennifer joins Eli in the dining room and they hug. Eli tells her that Lani will bring the kids over later. Jennifer mentions that Thomas and Charlotte will be down soon. Eli asks about Chad and JJ. Jennifer says they were there but they had to leave. Eli questions them leaving before Thanksgiving dinner. Jennifer calls it a long story.

Chad walks through the town square and stops at the Tom and Alice plaque to ask them for help finding Abigail. Cat catches up to Chad and apologizes for the scene with Jack and Jennifer. Chad says he’s sick of the apologies so they just need to move forward and figure out a way to bring down Clyde. JJ arrives with Gabi. Chad thanks Gabi for doing this on short notice. Gabi says she wasn’t expecting the adventure to go soon and jokes about leaving a pile of dishes in the sink. Gabi mentions that she didn’t say a word to Rafe as he would freak if he knew what she was doing, but she hates Clyde as much as they do. Chad and JJ tell Gabi that it means a lot to them. Gabi repeats that she’s glad she can help out but points out they wouldn’t have to do any of this if not for Cat. Cat says she just got an earful from Jack, Jennifer, and Julie. Gabi remarks that for once, she and Julie see eye to eye.

Jack returns to Julie in the living room. Julie asks if he woke Doug up. Jack responds that he tried but he’s so sorry. Julie drops her candle in shock as Jack holds her.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ finishes a call with his mother as Gabi arrives at the door. EJ asks what the hell she wants.

Javi walks past the Brady Pub and calls Rafe to inform him that the Pub is closed for a private event. Rafe worries that Gabi was counting on those rolls. Rafe suggests Javi check the Salem Inn. Javi agrees to try but notes it will be a little tough on Thanksgiving. Javi hangs up as Leo walks by.

Chanel goes to see Paulina at home and they wish each other a happy Thanksgiving. Paulina promises to save her a piece of sweet potato pie. Chanel asks if Abe is feeling better. Paulina says he’s resting now but is doing much better. Chanel talks about how scary it was and mentions that Johnny is almost back to normal too which Paulina calls a shame.

Joy sits in the town square, on the phone with her mom. Joy says she’s okay being alone and mentions that the Bradys invited her but she didn’t want to feel like a third wheel. Joy assures Nancy that she is staying away from married men right as Johnny walks up.

Chanel questions Paulina saying it’s a shame that her husband is feeling better and that not being a nice thing to say. Paulina brings up Johnny calling Chanel a cheating slut. Chanel complains about her reminding her of that. Paulina agrees not to bring it up again but complains that Johnny did say that right to her face. Paulina feels Johnny could use food poisoning for what he said to her. Chanel insists that Johnny is sorry and feels foolish for what happened. Chanel tells Paulina that it’s between her and Johnny and that she can stay out of it. Paulina says she might not be too warm and fuzzy towards Johnny. Chanel tells Paulina that she and Johnny are working things out, what he said is in the past, and she’s completely over it.

Joy finishes her call with Nancy and tells Johnny that it looks like he made a full recovery from the cupcake. Joy then informs Johnny that Chanel told her that he was talking about her in his sleep. Johnny is surprised and says he told her it was about the show and that she bought it. Joy asks what the dream was about but Johnny doesn’t want to go there. Joy then reveals to Johnny that she told somebody about them.

Javi asks what Leo wants as he’s in a hurry. Leo apologizes for accusing him of stealing his stories. Javi says he wasn’t interested in his apology last night and wants nothing to do with him. Javi calls getting with Leo a big mistake. Leo disagrees and insists that them being together was not a mistake. Leo says before he accused Javi of something he had nothing to do with, it was great between them as they had a very real connection. Javi says he thought so too until Leo turned on him and made him feel like two cents. Javi says he doesn’t put up with that from anyone and tells Leo to have a nice life as he walks away.

Paulina questions Chanel forgiving Johnny. Chanel asks if she’s supposed to be mad at him forever when he’s her husband. Chanel talks about wanting to take care of Johnny when he was sick and it reminded her of how much she loves him, so she doesn’t want to waste any more time being angry with him. Chanel insists that Johnny is a good person and that he has her heart. Chanel says that Johnny made a mistake but they have made their fair share. Chanel knows Paulina is being protective but asks her to try to see it from her point of view and understand that Johnny had a lapse in judgment. Chanel remarks that it’s not like Johnny cheated on her but he made a really dumb mistake and other than their fight, nothing bad happened. Paulina decides as long as she’s happy, that’s all she cares about. Chanel assures that she is happy and she loves Johnny with all her heart, so she knows they are going to be just fine from now on.

Johnny questions Joy telling someone about them and asks if it was her parents. Joy says no and asks why it matters. Johnny doesn’t understand since she was so worried about getting out because of her reputation and her job. Joy apologizes and says he’s not the only one feeling guilty and miserable about it, so she didn’t realize how badly she needed to talk about it. Johnny questions who Joy told. Joy insists that he won’t tell and reveals that she told Alex.

Alex comes out of the Brady Pub and finds Leo sitting on the bench outside. Leo asks about the private event. Alex says it was just Thanksgiving with the Bradys after the turkey went up in smoke at the Kiriakis Mansion. Leo asks why Alex isn’t inside celebrating. Alex says things got awkward with Stephanie which Leo questions. Alex explains that his cousin Philip is in there and he just found out that Philip and Stephanie used to be engaged. Alex says they just went down memory lane and he could only take ten seconds of it before needing to get some air. Leo talks about the pain and humiliation he is feeling. Alex comments that Leo seems more bummed than he is. Leo responds that he’s more bummed than he’s ever been. Alex asks Leo what’s going on and why he’s so bummed. Leo informs him that he just blew it with Mr. Right.

Javi returns home with the rolls that Gabi wanted and tells Rafe how good the cooking smells. Javi asks where everyone is. Rafe says Gabi had to run an errand and Jada is still at work but hopefully they will be there soon so they can dig in. Rafe asks Javi if it was quiet out. Javi says not quiet enough since he ran in to Leo. Rafe guesses he’s still angry. Javi asks how dare Leo accuse him of stealing his stories. Javi remarks that Gabi was right about Leo.

Gabi tells EJ that she came to get some things that she left at the mansion but her key no longer worked. EJ informs her that he had the locks changed. Gabi says she is going to get her things unless EJ wants her to call Jada. EJ comments on Rafe losing his job and now Gabi misplacing her things. Gabi remarks that she’s not as easygoing as Rafe, so when she loses something, she takes it back. Gabi starts to head upstairs but EJ stops her and says she’s not going anywhere until she apologizes.

Chanel tells Paulina that she should get going so she’s not late for dinner at the DiMera Mansion. Paulina tells her that Eli and Lani are on their way with the kids. Chanel assures that she won’t miss seeing them. They hug and say goodbye as Chanel then exits.

Gabi reminds EJ that he already demanded an apology from her. EJ says that was for accusing him of destroying her marriage and that got him a slap in the face, so now she owes him two apologies. Gabi remarks that he’s lucky he only got a slap after admitting he drove Stefan to divorce her. EJ says he was only agreeing with whatever she said. Gabi complains that EJ cost her precious time with Stefan by sending her to prison and then claims he made her divorce his endgame. EJ questions her not thinking that seducing him ended her marriage. Gabi argues that everything EJ did was because he thinks she ruined things for him and Nicole which EJ insists that she did. Gabi asks if she’s supposed to believe he didn’t want revenge. EJ points out that it’s Thanksgiving and tells Gabi to be grateful for the marbles she has left while he is no closer to the apologies that she owes him. Gabi argues that he should be the one apologizing to her and that he should be begging for forgiveness because of the pain he caused her.

Alex guesses Javi didn’t take well to Leo accusing him of stealing his stories. Leo argues that everything added up and nothing else made sense than being him, but then Javi picked apart his idea and now he kind of believes him. Alex suggest an apology but Leo says he tried and got his door slammed in his face. Leo feels now his love life his up in smoke and so is his career. Alex encourages Leo to find the new Lady Whistleblower and stop them now.

Jada comes home to Rafe. Jada asks Javi if he’s exciting for his first Thanksgiving dinner here while Rafe says he was starting to worry that she wouldn’t make it. Jada hopes she won’t have any more interruptions. Rafe talks about how the commissioner’s day is never over. Jada hopes to get something on the tainted cupcakes that may or may not have been from Hattie. Jada says that Paulina has been hounding her and she has nothing. Rafe tells Jada that he’s happy to cook the feast for her but he’s no longer going to have the time to do it as he reveals that he actually got a job today.

Johnny questions Joy telling Alex of all people what happened between them. Joy says she didn’t plan on it but keeping the secret was really getting to her and she had to tell someone. Johnny points out that Alex and Chanel are friends now. Joy insists that is why Alex won’t tell Chanel because he doesn’t want to hurt Chanel, so she knows he’s going to keep quiet about this. Johnny hopes that she’s right as Chanel approaches and questions right about what. Johnny claims that he and Joy were discussing the tainted cupcakes while Joy says she just said she hopes they catch whoever did it soon. Chanel says she’s just glad it had nothing to do with her Bakery this time. Joy asks what she means. Chanel explains that last time it was an employee of her bakery that had an axe to grind who ended up betraying her. Chanel talks to Johnny about Thanksgiving at the DiMera Mansion. Johnny mentions that EJ likes dinner to be exactly on time so he tells Joy they will see her. Joy tells them to enjoy while Chanel questions Joy’s plans for Thanksgiving and invites her over with them. Joy says that’s okay and mentions the Bradys invited her but she turned them down because she prefers to be alone. Chanel questions being alone on Thanksgiving and says her mom would hate it if she left her. Johnny points out that Joy said she prefers being alone but Chanel argues that Joy only said that because she doesn’t want to impose and insists that she wouldn’t be imposing. Chanel reminds Joy that they also promised Nancy they would look after her, so she declares that Joy is coming with them and she will not take no for an answer.

EJ questions Gabi thinking he owes her an apology for her throwing baseless accusations in his face and insulting him. Gabi argues that the accusations weren’t baseless and that EJ was only agreeing with her because she was right. EJ questions it being his fault that she took a torch to her marriage. Gabi decides she’s not continuing this argument, but when she comes back downstairs, she will expect groveling. EJ tells Gabi that she’s not going upstairs but Gabi heads upstairs anyway.

Javi questions Rafe getting a job. Rafe reveals that he is the new field operator for Black Patch after talking to Steve today and he agreed to take him on. Javi asks what Black Patch is. Rafe informs him that it’s a private investigation firm in town. Rafe brings up that he used to be a private investigator himself with his own firm, so Steve is happy to put him to work. Javi says they are lucky to have him and Jada congratulates him. Javi then jokes that Jada doesn’t have to feel guilty for stealing her boyfriend’s job anymore. Rafe says that was too soon while Javi says he’s only teasing. Javi tells Rafe that he is happy for him, assuming it won’t cause a problem between he and Jada.

Alex tells Leo that he has to realize it’s not just his career on the line since if the spoilers get out and hurt the ratings, everyone on Body and Soul will pay the price. Leo agrees but doesn’t know where to start. Alex points out that whoever wrote the column must work for the Spectator. Leo says he’s left Chad messages but hasn’t heard back and he thought about going to the police but they have bigger cases. Leo feels there has to be some way to track them down. Alex says he has faith in him. Alex then gets a text from Justin, wondering where he disappeared to so he better get back in. Alex invites Leo to join them because they have plenty of food. Leo points out that Alex just told him he shouldn’t waste any time on finding the new Lady Whistleblower. Alex thinks he could take time to eat since it is Thanksgiving but Leo decides he will not rest until he finds the impostor.

Rafe and Jada question why Javi would think it’d be a problem for them. Javi says he would just think Jada being commissioner and Rafe investigating crimes on his own could be a head on collision if they get in each others’ way. Javi compares it to a novella he used to watch where the commissioner and detective butt heads over the same cases and she ends up accidentally shooting him, but remarks that he’s sure that won’t happen to them.

Gabi comes downstairs with her bag packed. EJ says he hopes she didn’t forget anything because she’s never coming back. Gabi argues that she wouldn’t want to because the place makes her skin crawl like he does. EJ tells her to leave. Gabi declares that she’s grateful that she never has to see his face again or spend another minute in the mansion as she storms out. Johnny then walks in and comments that Gabi seemed to be in a hurry. Chanel then comes in with Joy as Johnny goes to grab the pie from the car. EJ wishes a happy Thanksgiving to Chanel and calls it unexpected to see Joy again. Chanel says Joy had no plans and that no one should be alone on Thanksgiving. EJ welcomes Joy while Chanel goes to help Johnny with the pie. EJ then takes Joy in to the living room and pours her a drink. EJ asks Joy about how she used to live in Salem and that it must be nice to be back. Joy says they moved away when she was a baby so she doesn’t remember much about it. EJ then tells Joy that he hopes she got her fill this time because it’s time for her to go.

Gabi goes home where Rafe questions where she’s been. Gabi apologizes and says she had to get stuff from the DiMera Mansion. Javi tells Gabi to get settled in so Rafe can tell her all about his new job. Leo then shows up at the door.

Joy questions EJ saying it’s time for her to go. EJ reveals that he knows what happened between her and Johnny and how uncomfortable it is to have her around. Joy insists that she didn’t want to come but she couldn’t say no as Chanel insisted. EJ guesses they have a misunderstanding and clarifies that he’s not telling her to leave his house, but to leave the city which Joy questions. EJ talks about Johnny being terribly guilt ridden over what happened and that Joy’s presence will only make things worse. Joy questions him saying that she has to leave because of that. EJ argues that Johnny was here first. Joy argues that she can’t just leave town and points out that she has a job. EJ offers to pay her out and says she will want for nothing but Joy complains that the show expects her to work, so she would be in breach of contract if she just left. EJ tells her not to worry about that as he’s an excellent lawyer and will find a good reason for her to breach her contract. Joy questions him really meaning this. EJ assures he’ll be happy to pay her whatever she’s owed and then some if she packs up and leaves Salem immediately. EJ thinks it’s best that she goes before doing any more damage. EJ asks if they have an understanding.

Javi questions what the hell Leo is doing as he said he had nothing to say to him. Leo explains that he came to see Rafe, not him. Leo comes in and wishes them a happy Thanksgiving. Leo tells Rafe that he just ran in to Steve outside the Pub, who told him that Rafe is now working for Black Patch which Rafe confirms. Leo congratulates him and then says he would like to hire Rafe immediately to find the new Lady Whistleblower.

Chanel and Johnny join EJ and Joy in the living room as EJ opens a bottle of champagne. Chanel asks if everything is okay. EJ claims that he and Joy were just getting better acquainted. Johnny informs them that dinner is ready so EJ suggests they head to the dining room. Johnny and Chanel head to the dining room while EJ warns Joy that if she’s smart, she’ll take the deal because everyone will be better off. EJ then heads to the dining room.
